We bought our 2012 GMC Acadia with excitement and high expectations. We were so wrong, and regretted our decision fairly quickly. Within months, we had numerous recalls, the AC stopped working, the USB port stopped working, and a piece of the rubber on the car windows fell off. Luckily, it was under warranty. After 2 years, we had a total of five recalls.Within a couple of months of the warranty expiration, the problems got worse. The AC stopped working AGAIN. Same problem, different year. Our front tires suddenly went bad ($550), confusing since the car didnt have many miles. No explanation from the dealer. Now, year three, AC went out AGAIN ($1100 front and rear), front CV joints cracked ($650) which we were told was probably why our tires went bad so fast, fuel injection issues ($240) causing car to stall every time we got gas, power steering fluid hose leaking ($200), and other issues with a total bill of $2900. Mechanic said it was one of the biggest messes hed ever seen on a car. He said the car was very cheaply put together with plastic parts. I hate this car and completely disappointed that we paid $45000 for a piece of junk.

Well another big repair needed for my 2010 GMC Acadia. First I had problems with the steering column. Then the core evaporator had to be replaced. Both were major repairs. GMC Paul Sur paid for most of it after I went on their website and complained. Now I need a TMC module and seal replaced. Need throttle service and fuel injector. Total cost parts and labor $1600! Called to get a breakdown for parts $734 and labor $509. Throttle clean $124.95, fuel induction service 139.95. Funny how I took my car in a year ago with the same problem. It was still under warranty. But they said that the codes did not show up at that time. Now its not under warranty and the codes showed up. Really? This is the third major problem Ive had with this car.

We purchased 2008 GM Arcadia and have had nothing but problems... from water leaks inside the car, electrical problems, throttle body etc. GM does not stand behind their product and I warn anyone looking... not to buy any GM product!

We own a 2010 GMC top of the line Acadia with only 45000km on it, its two owner car (87 year old man gave to his daughter). Its never towed anything and has had regular maintenance. I was taking the Acadia on Oct 22/16 over to my mechanics to have him check the urgency of repair needed for the power steering seals (they are bleeding which seems to be a very common problem for the Acadia). Upon driving the mere 4 miles to his business the vehicle started accelerating on its own. On a level surface it was actually increasing speed and required constant braking to maintain speed. Upon putting the car in park it was revving high.My mechanic tried connecting to the computer which gave no error message, disconnected the throttle body to confirm there was no debris or anything to cause spontaneous acceleration. He also disconnected the battery and reset the vehicles computer which had no effect. I submitted an online ticket to GM Canada on Oct 23/16 to bring to the companys attention the issue. Ive been contacted twice by phone to give the VIN number (provided to them on the online ticket Oct 23, left a voice mail to the case worker Oct 26 and again to a customer service rep Nov 3).My mechanic has identified the issue as being the throttle pedal sensor and seems to have successfully fixed the glitch however has warned me that since it has gone at such low mileage is highly likely to fail again. Im concerned to take it for long distance trips as this is the third issue thats occurred with this vehicle and is likely to happen again. To date weve had to fix the front sprayer for the windshield and we have the expensive fix for the power steering rack and pistons upcoming. Im severely disappointed that a car with such low mileage has such issues and am worried what future issues are upcoming. That said my mother enjoys how it handles and is everything she wants with a SUV. I just wish it had less problems.

2010 GMC Acadia Blown Engine - Family took vacation to Colorado from Oklahoma Summer of 2015. Two hours outside of Denver @ 75mph engine shuts off. I barely get the SUV off the road, lucky we werent killed. Tow to SUSS GMC in Aurora, Colorado. Explain situation hoping to get the car up and running as we are on vacation. No Loaner car, No help with a rental car and 3 days later they say, Blown engine that will be $8600. The vehicle is 4 months out of warranty with 87k on it. This car already had one engine replaced under warranty, and now less than 20k later the replacement engine had blown. Obviously defective and poor workmanship and diagnosis by Ferguson GMC in Oklahoma.Nobody will stand behind the vehicle. Its sad. Im a GM guy. First car was a 68 Impala my grandpa gave me. I have had 7 GM since high school. What a disappointment this is... I cant get anybody to work with me or give me any help at all. My Supervisor Specialist has yet to call me back in a weeks time. Customer Experience - 0, Customer Satisfaction - 0.

I believe that GM Company is a leading company especially in customer service perspective and this led all authors of customer service books to take GM as their main example. After studying and preparing most of my academic assignment on this giant company, I became a loyal customer to this respective brand and this point was really the most important factor which led me to choose the Acadia car. I experienced this since February 2010 and my loyalty was enhanced more than before; however after less than three years and less than 50,000 mileage, I was disappointed as I faced problems with the noise in my steering wheel where it became a redundant issue; however, this was solved. But in November 2011, I faced another sound inside the car when I press the brake. Though it has been solved, it happened again after less than one year and currently, I face the same issue! The agent here in Bahrain advised me that they have to change the master cylinders and the boosters. In addition to this issue, the rear door pumps had no pressure to hold the rear door. I spoke with the agent and argued with them about this. They agreed to change the master cylinders with the booster at their cost if I bear the labor charge cost which exceeds BHD 80/- (USD212)! Today, I found out that these two issues are common with all Acadia models. My close friend (his car reg. # **) is also facing the same issues. I am filing this complaint to take this issue up with the agent to waive all the charges, as its unbelievable that such nice car produced by a leading company has these issues and the customer is bearing the cost of repairing them! Im looking for a service to keep me satisfied.

I bought my 2009 Acadia SLT brand new in 2010 since it was on offer, since then I had problems two times with the fuel system and had to replace it all. And by all I mean fuel rails, fuel injectors, spark plugs, fuel pump, fuel sensors and hoses, I get warning lights of low oil pressure from time to time with no apparent reason. I also had to replace the complete front suspension with the lower control arms and engine mounts. Now I am also getting a warning that I have a bad catalytic converter. Not to forget to mention that I had to replace the hydraulics for both the trunk and the hood, and what kind of car has the battery behind the passenger seat? Not to mention that the engine compartment is too congested and you cant even see the accessory belt in order to know if it needs replacing. My advice is never to buy an Acadia. I think total cost of repairs so far is about $10,000 and it only is driven 75,000 miles so far.

After I tow my new acadia awd denali, even for a short distance, the vehicle will back up but wont go forward until I turn it off several time and let it run for a long time, until the fluid lubricates the awd system. Have taken to dealer with no satisfaction. Is anyone else having this same problem?

Bought my car brand new off the lot which at time Gm had used defective parts. I bought and paid for an astro start from authorized dealer. It has worked great on summer and winter days. Now because Gm recalled my car to fix ignition and cylinder that it put on my new car when I purchased it and in fixing their defective parts have disconnected my auto start which was fully functional and not defective. I am completely dissatisfied with the fact they expect me to pay to have it reprogrammed/reset out of my pocket! It worked fine and I already paid to have it programmed when I purchased the product... this is unacceptable to me as it was through no fault of my own. They put defective parts on my new car and they knew it!! I want resolution, either give me a credit to cover cost or offer to do it for me. I know I am not the only one who is affected by this situation. I urge people to speak up. This isnt right and do not let Gm get away with it. Gm you stink!! Not a satisfied customer here!!

Only 38000 miles (2013 GMC ACADIA SLT) and rear AC evaporator and blower failed. Dealer wants $1300 and GM will not acknowledge this problem and do a recall. Not buying another GM again. This is a common problem.

I have 2009 GMC Acadia. My power steering started having issues to the point that I should not be driving it and cant afford to fix it. Trade to trade it in with that issue does not work. I have seen lots of people with these issues. Make it a recall. This is why people stay clear of American cars .

2009 Acadia bought brand new in 09 has turned into a lemon :( I have helped 2 friends buy an Acadia. I have been nearly a spokesperson for the Acadia and now, another major repair is necessary. We have 95k miles on it and the transmission just went out. I am only 4 months past our 5 year warranty (mind you the dealership in which we purchased the Acadia has a LIFETIME power train warranty...but GMC wont honor that because the dealership went out of business). I filed a case with GMC. They contacted the dealership that has our car and have only offered us a discount on refurbishing our transmission... What?! I dont want to refurbish this bad one, I need a new transmission. I did not accept their terms and our car is still sitting at the dealership (its been a week already) and we pray they change their mind and offer us a better deal tomorrow. :(

I bought 2008 Acadia brand new from the dealer in CA (bay area) barely driven in the first few years, ran out of my 5yr warranty but under the warranty miles. When I encountered water leak problems, GM didnt cover it, dealer didnt help either. Got it fixed for few thousand out of pocket. Just got traction control off/ stabilitrak system off/ check gauges, check engine light on messages... reading all the complaints over here-- its just a matter of time that I am going to get transmission and other issues.I read pretty much on all the message boards and messages about people saying there should be a recall and/or a class action lawsuit. Question is, what does it take to create a class action law suit? Why not someone start a list to see how many of us are in this situation. Fact is, GM screwed us. $40,000+ is not pocket change or a small amount for anybody to let go. I am sure everyone has worked hard for their money to buy these SUVs, expecting them to be safe and reliable. These Acadias are neither and moreover have no resell value. We got screwed. I have over fifty mailer ads from lemon law lawyers about this car. Has anyone contacted the lawyers and found any relief? I am in for a Class Action. Can someone make a list?

We purchased a used 2008 GMC Acadia from Carl Black in Roswell, GA. At 60,000 miles, transmission had to be rebuilt. At 97,000 miles Solenoid valve and transmission control module assembly replaced. Carl Black tried to rip me off. Originally quoted $1800 to repair. After I told them I was taking car to my trusted mechanic, repair went to $400. I was still ripped off as I signed pages of warranty receipts when I picked up car. Now less than a year later, Stabilitrak light is on. Car only has 108,000 miles. This is the third major repair in three years. I am through with GMC and Carl Black forever. Almost forgot, sunroof leaks.

When is GMC going to admit that they threw quality out the window when they built this vehicle. Recalls are done only when its life and death. Right from the start, my headlight harnesses melted. Thousands of similar complaints online but no recall yet. Steering column, timing chain and the list goes on. Now for the shocker. I took my Acadia to the dealer because I received a Special Coverage Program 14582. My vehicle ran rough and the check engine light was on. That is exactly what the Notice described. I also asked the dealer to inspect the front end and steering because there was an outstanding power steering pump recall. After a few hours, the dealer called me back with the news.As per the email, my 2009 GMC Acadia with 150,000 km needed: replacement of catalytic converter bank2 $722.10, replacement of pre-CAT/post cal oxygen sensors $451.41, fuel system servicing recommended $169.95, replacement of spark plugs $295.40, evap purge solenoid $124.32, replace both front struts $952.86, replace both rear shocks $456.00, replace one broken engine mount $248.42, replace water pump $513.50, perform four wheel alignment $129.95, replace rack and pinion assembly $1,583.24, replace right front lower control arm bushing(s) $416.05, replace left front lower control arm bushing(s) $416.05, replace left rear upper control arm $541.12, replace right rear upper control arm $541.12, plus three separate @120.00. Diagnose charges for the check engine light, an oil leak and steering and suspension came to over $9,000.00.Sorry for the long-winded story. I only accepted the repairs that I thought were important. It came out to just over $2,000.00 and the Acadia seems perfect now. Moral of the story is that dealership service areas will attempt to build you a new car if you let them. I think they wanted me to give up on this SUV and head straight for their showroom.

We purchased the vehicle brand new. We began having problems immediately back and forth reporting issues. Beaman could not detect or duplicate the issues other than the recall problems. Ex of problems ranged from numerous recalls windshield, lights, condensation, time chain, and repeated issues with the transmission. The vehicle was under warranty. The problems with the vehicle continued. In 2012 the vehicle was paid off and warranty close to expiring. In May 2012 we left the vehicle with Beaman (transmission) while out of town. We picked up the vehicle and was told they could not duplicate the issue. Beaman advised us the vehicle was design to run and function that way. The following week the vehicle stopped. It was towed to another GM dealership. My second complaint to GM on May 16, 2012 - warranty expired. The service team determined the issue. Software components were damaged tied to the transmission required replacing. The service manager was able to convince GM to pay. My case Id still open. We continue to have issues with this transmission. This is clear to be UDAAP.

We bought a used 2010 Acadia with 30,000 miles. Engine had to be replaced when we had it 3 months, fortunately still on manufacture warranty. Then recall notice after we paid $200 to repair electronic system. Windshield wipers failed and had to be repaired. Now air conditioner needs to be replaced. Stay FAR, FAR away from ACADIAs. Dont purchase. Money Pit!!!

We too had to put in a new transmission as well as problem with steering wheel and stability track. We have put in close to $7,000 into this car that we paid $42,000 custom ordered. I thought at first it was because ours was being built when GMC went on strike but after reading comments thats not the case. Now we just find out that the piston is shot and we now have to put in a new engine with not even having 200,000 miles on it! This is crazy. GMC should be reimbursing us for this cost. The sad thing is I love the style and comfort of it just not all the extra money we have had to put into it due to GMC poor engineering. Please if anyone knows of a class action suit against them for this let me know. This is not right! They know they have a problem with it and wont make things right.

I bought a 2007 GMC Acadia 2 years ago with a extended warranty. The mileage was low only 82000. My mileage is only 155000 now. But about 5 months after I bought this truck its been one thing after another. First my power steering went, then my headlight burned and melted the case and I had to replace the headlight case, which is very expensive I might add. And then my motor went. My mechanic called around to a few places and everyone says the same thing that its known to happen with the GMC Acadias. If I had of known this when I bought it I would have left it on the car lot. I would have to agree with people they look good and lots of room, but if you want a reliable vehicle and not to expensive to repair, DO NOT BUY A GMC ACADIA. You will be so pissed off and GMC does not stand by their product.

I have owned more than 10 vehicles in my lifetime and the last seven have been new from dealer. This Acadia is the worst vehicle I have owned, new or old. Just over 30,000 it was burning oil excessively and the dealership could not figure it out. Numerous times at shop and still no fix. By the time we got to 70,000 GM had to re-ring the engine and replace the major of other sensors and components. I have probably spent over $3,000 in additional costs that were not covered by the GM Warranty or the GM extended warranty we purchased when buying the Acadia. Its Amazing how convenient it was that every problem we had was not covered by the extended warranty. Regardless the engine is a problem GM cannot figure it out. Google GM Acadia engine problems and you will have hours of reading in front of you. All with a common theme, the engine is a complete piece of garbage that you will be lucky to get 100,000 out of... Most of them seize around 50,000 to 70,000 and GM will NOT cover the repair under warranty. They simply will not take ownership to this problem so do yourself a favor and avoid this headache completely. This is my 4th GMC and without a doubt my last. I will never buy another GM Product for rest of my life which hurts me to write because I have 3 kids I have been preaching Buy American to all their lives. Now that my wife and I are buying the kids the first cars, it will greatly reduce the dealerships we have to look at. I have to clarify that the reason I will never buy a GM product again has very little to do with the Acadia I own. It has to do with the entire fleet and the fact that GM knows its an inherent problem with this Engine but wont take ownership. My engine that has been burning engine since 30,000 needs new heads and valves due to wear from lack of oil, a problem I pointed out in the first 2 years. GM does not think its their problem and they offered me $3000 towards a new car. My car is 4 years old and they want me to trash it. If that is GM customer loyalty, then I need to find a new manufacturer of automobiles. Save yourself the countless trips to the service dept because this vehicle is a problem child that burns oil and your hard earned dollars.

I bought my 2009 GMC Acadia new. It just turned 62,000 miles. All 6 ignition coils have been replaced (not all at once). Numbers 4 and 6 went first. Then 3 and 5 went. Since theyre at the back near the firewall I had number 1 replaced too since the intake manifold had to be removed to accomplish the repair. A little over 2 weeks ago number 2 had to be replaced. The replacement of 6 coils is unacceptable for a vehicle with mileage as low as mine. Of course we all know about the timing chain issues and transmission flex plate problems. GM should be ashamed of this 3.6 liter motor and the transmission. The comfort and passenger compartment is great. Of course when you have to have your vehicle towed over 100 miles to get back home from vacation that comfort doesnt help. Thats what happened to my family Saturday. This junk is in the shop now with my mechanic. He is very honest and doesnt try to sell you service you dont need. You can look over his shoulder if you want to. He left dealership service due to their dishonest practices. Im getting no ignition to 2, 4, and 6. This isnt a coil issue. It probably is a wiring harness issue or fuse box issue. He explained the flimsy fuse boxes. The fuse boxes are made of layers of flimsy metal sheets so the sockets for the fuses wear out. I also may have damaged my cat by driving with the constant misfires resulting in dumping unignited fuel into the cat. I also have a broken front motor mount, another piece of junk as he states. All of this with around 62,000 miles. Buyer beware. My wife wanted this car bad and I bought without doing research. Never again. I may go for a Honda Pilot next time, after I do lots of research. BTW, I guess most of you know that the Acadia and the Chevy Traverse are the same. I forget the Buick equal.

At 60,600 miles, just out of warranty, my coil failed. Now at 67000 the catalytic converter has failed. None of this should be happening in a well designed engine but we are told it is the cooling that causes this. Our mechanic said the carbon build up is extraordinary and to get rid of the car. I have 3 other friends who have 09/10 Acadias, and are all seeing similar issues (2 have coils fail). So its just a bad design. Shame, it was a pretty car and would have kept it for the long haul if it wasnt so poorly designed.

I own 2009 GMC Acadia SLT-1. This is the nicest vehicle I have ever owned so I have strived to take really good care of it. For the last few months, I have been experiencing an issue that seemingly cannot be resolved! When I am driving on the highway and I achieve the speed want to go and let off the gas and the vehicle would coast, it starts what I refer to as missing. It has not given off any codes and I have had it checked out by two mechanics. The problem is getting worse! Without a code and the lack of anything obvious, it cannot be resolved. The last time I took it in, the transmission fluid was low, which makes me wonder with all of the posts on transmissions going bad in Acadias, if it could be my transmission. I do not know what to do and am writing this in hopes someone has had similar issues and can share your experience and maybe your end result! HELP!!!

I bought a GMC Acadia for my dad, brand new 0 miles. Ive had all kinds of problems.. Some lights stopped working. AC we turn it off and it keeps working. Yesterday my dad was gonna go to work and that piece of junk didnt wanna start with key stock on the ignition. The day we bought it staff was very helpful but GMC is the worst brand out there. Do a favor to yourself and buy any other brand but GMC. GMC is junk. I rather have any Korean car than this useless car company.

My 09 Acadia has had so many problems - I wish I never bought it. The timing chain has been replaced THREE times! Once at 26k miles, once at 83k miles and now again at 111k miles. In addition to that...there have been so many other issues (tranny has been taken apart and rebuilt twice). GMC offers coverage up to 120k miles on the chain, but I wasnt aware of that when I took it to my shop. Now they wont even help cover any of the costs when I provide full, detailed, back up. I love the car when its running, but Id suggest to stay away from Acadia. Theyre really garbage.

I purchased my 2012 Denali from an Authorized dealer in Anchorage Alaska. I live in a rural community in Alaska and had my car barged to me in Nome Alaska. I have serviced my car 2 times a year with our local mechanic. My car as less than 25,000 miles on it. I drive less than 4 miles round trip to work at 25 to 30 miles per hr. This car has never been ran hard. This SUV is now in Catastrophic engine failure!!! The only way to check on what is going on with it is to pull the engine. If there is an issue with the engine we should just replace it due to the cost of whatever could be the problem and no guarantees it will not happen again. My mechanic explained that this is a known issue with these engines and there is no way of preventing it from happening even if we replace the engine!!! I feel like I have a beautiful piece of junk. I loved everything about this SUV. I paid top $$$ to have a nice reliable vehicle. I will never buy a GMC again.

Back in 2008 when GM was in trouble financially and I needed a car, my family purchased an Acadia. Part of our decision-making process involved supporting an American company. We really liked/like the car - the reliability is the overarching problem. To begin, there were a number of recalls resulting in many hours overall waiting at the dealer. If that were the only issue, I could deal with it. Unfortunately, that is just the beginning. We started having problems with the engine coils failing. First one - $400, a month later, another - $450. Four months later, one of the same coils that we had replaced and a different one - $660.00. Six months passed not without repairs (new radiator $700) and now the coils are a problem AGAIN! The dealer now tells us that ALL of the coils, the ECM and the catalytic converter all need to be replaced pursuant to a bulletin #PIP5038B which states if there are certain failure codes, which were present for us, that replacing less than all of the coils and other stuff, would result in future failure of the coils, problems with the brain and emissions. Total for this work - $2,931.72! Picked the car up and before arriving home, check engine light was back on! Can you believe it?? Dealer now states, which to be fair they had been working on and thought they had corrected, that the fuel injector is too clogged as a result of the coil problem and will need to be replaced - $765.00.My gripe - The coil failure appears to be a recurring issue which the dealer did not service properly initially replacing them one at a time resulting in our having to pay $1,510 only to have the same problem 6 months later. In that time, GM learned that they could not fix the problem 1 coil at a time and alerted their dealers in the bulletin. They learned while I paid but when the problem resurfaced due to the failure of their repairs, instead of offering to make good and apologizing for the additional inconvenience to me, they charged me an additional $3,000 which didnt fully fix the problem and now requires another $765. Who knows if that will be the end - perhaps there is a problem yet to be discovered with another fuel injector?I have spoken with the executive office and they offered to pay 50% of the current repair OR give me a voucher for $3,000 toward another GM product but I do not feel that this is fair compensation. I have had to expend $5500 on this car this year alone - not taking the additional $765 into account. One other note, GM continues to throw out that my car has high mileage which is a factor in the amounts they would offer. I purchased the car to drive, not preserve. I have taken care of the vehicle. Are GM cars only meant to go 100,000 and then die? Volvo and Toyota owners seems to expect 100s of thousands of miles but GM no? I dont see them advertising that.What would I like? For others to know of the problem. To be fully reimbursed for the monies we have had to expend in repairs to the coils so I can reinvest them in a new car that will actually work. Upon receiving a letter from GM regarding the water pump shaft seal in my 2009 GMC Acadia, I called customer service to notify them of an incident that took place with my vehicle about three weeks ago. After my husband and I were forced to pull off of interstate 95 just south of Washington, DC during rush hour, we had to replace our water pump due to its lacking ability to function as well as belt that had been leaked on due to problems with the water pump. The letter from GM does imply that should the seal not function properly, the water pumps operating ability could be compromised. Prior to the breakdown, my husband and I noticed low coolant levels, monitored the levels and added coolant when needed. The engine fan continued to run even after the vehicle had stopped - a sign that something was not working right. I contacted GM customer service regarding the cost of the repair that, to me, seems a result of a malfunctioning part produced by the company. I was informed that because the vehicle was not repaired at a dealership, they were unable to reimburse me for the repairs. At the time, the vehicle was not drivable and was taken to the closest available repair shop. The closest dealer was almost an hour away. I am filing the complaint as I find it unfair and unjust that GM has not recalled the water pump shaft seal and instead is hiding behind the issue by calling it a courtesy customer service letter. After researching the issue, I discovered that I am not alone in believing that this part should be recalled. The letter offers this resolve: Your GMC dealer will check your vehicles coolant level and, if necessary, will add sufficient engine coolant. If the seal is compromised, the vehicle will continue to need additional and unordinary amounts of engine coolant fluid. This letter offers a cowardly attempt at patching the real issue (that is the malfunctioning water pump shaft seal). I feel strongly that this part should be recalled.

Driving comfort cannot be beat. The GMC Acadia Denali has great back support and all features during cold and warm seasons to add more comfort. Visibility is perfect, great gas mileage for a lot of vehicle, I wish I could afford to keep it after a 39 month lease but it is priced very high for the very low mileage recorded.

I bought this 2008 Acadia with 88,000 miles and got extended warranty. We have put 10,000 miles on it since December. Have had nothing but problems with power steering, windows leak, window regulator gone in passenger door. Abs light and traction light on and now bucks and skips between 30 and 50 miles an hour... GMC, thanks. You suck, Government Motors... Trying to trade in for Ford Explorer.. GMC, you need to stand behind your ** ups!!!!

My 2013 Acadia has had both Cadillac converters changed. Also Im currently having problems with radio not working, flashers not sounding, seat belts not making a sound when theyre not connected, signals not making a sound when theyre flicking, the radio wont play CDs, wont do anything. It shows up stations but you cant hear anything on. It will pop off and on every now and then so I just dont know whats wrong with this car. It is scary because the cost is astronomical to repair if this is electrical problems. Also the car had problems with it. Was water running from somewhere onto my feet after a rain, which I know there were other people who complained of this as well. Theres no recall for it but other comments states that it has cause some damage to the electrical wiring. I read this in other reviews, I can not afford this cost, Acadia 2013 owners. But of course with all this going on theres no recalls on any of the issues that I have with this vehicle. How frustrating!!!

2011 GMC Acadia 49000 miles, water pump went out. Noticeable loose transmission gear issues, i.e., parked on a decline, driver puts into reverse gear and vehicle rolls forward two to three feet. This also happens when on an incline too. Plus, long period to wait for transmission to change from one gear to the next, such as from park to reverse and reverse to drive. After the water pump had been replaced, cars frame is noticeably creaking when going around corners/turns.

I purchased a 2012 Acadia with 55K miles a few years ago and honestly it was the best riding and most spacious truck I have ever owned. I loved it until it started have random issues with engine light going off all the time and it was always another sensor that need to be replaced. Finally a month before the warranty ran out the engine light was reading timing belt (dealer said stretched and needed new at $3,000). Truck was running fine as I saved up the money for that. Then when I did bring it to the dealer to get new timing chain they told me the next day that it had camshaft engine failure and it would cost me $8,800 to fix it.I still owe 11,500 on it and trade in is $9,500. Ran fine when I brought it in and now does not run at all. Contacted GMC and they were very in telling me they would not honor the warranty that ran out a few months ago even though the engine and chain failure was well within warranty. GMC and the dealer agreed to discount the engine to $6,400 but that only puts the price were it should have been in the first place. Found some records at the dealers that says engine went in 2013 with 2,600 miles on it too.That for sure means GMC is well aware of this engine chain and camshaft problem but refuses to acknowledge it or take responsibility for it and that BUCK STOPS HERE... Small claims court here we come... Sorry for all you others out there that purchased a GMC product as they were a great company 15 years ago until they decide to go the route of Ford in 1975. Just bad trucks and customer service until they almost went out of business.

Electrical problems..low oil, airbag & low tire pressure sensors going off. Sensor goes off tells me to shut the engine off. Transmission slipping. Acadia stops in middle of traffic.

So got the Acadia and fell in love, it fit our family of 6 perfectly! Soon after I noticed the passenger front and back windows would hesitate to roll down sometimes...over looked it because I was so happy to have it, then came the air bag light - it was a known issue but no one could do anything about it to clear it out! Now mind you I got my car in Jan so it was cold, now were getting into summer and running the ac more and it makes this loud screeching noise when its on low. I was told it was from water leaking in from the sunroof, GREAT! All these problems are bothersome but not so costly. The biggest problem came today. I was driving with my 2 kids, stopped at a red light, got ready to take off and it was like someone unplugged the car - it just wouldnt go. Luckily I was coming down off a slight incline so I was able to roll into a parking lot where the check engine light came on. And Im being told Its $2500 to rebuild the transmission and put a new wave plate in (the wave plate is what broke in the transmission causing the issue) but they cant guarantee it will last more than 10,000 miles because there could have been more damage done by the broken wave plate. They can give it a full check for $127 a hr or I could get a new transmission for $4000. Of course my warranty ended last year and there is no recall for this issue that so many people are having. I absolutely love everything about this car but whats the point of having a really nice car if you cant drive it and 11 months into it Im having all these issues. I will definitely be trading this vehicle in the first chance I get! GM is supposed to be the best of the best but thats definitely not the case. GMC Acadia is like a cubic zirconia, looks good but worth absolutely nothing!

Engine sputtering - recall - internal engine repair. Power steering noise - recall - repaired issue. Only one light works - no issue with the actual lights. Issue unresolved after John Miles GMC in Conyers was unable to troubleshoot the issue. Issue remains. Starter will not shut off - current repair appointment with non-dealer mechanic. Guess well see. Overall the Acadia is a piece of rolling **!

We bought this Acadia 2 years ago, first we werent shown the Carfax. No signed copy in contract, 2nd dealership wont honor extended warranty. But anyway we have had CV joints replaced, motors in both windows, ignition locks in start position. So it constantly starting, back hatch bangs and jumps like its falling off, oh and the transmission had to be replaced to the tune of $7,000. Warranty but still put out $400 deductible. But we had to go to another GMC dealership for acknowledgment of issue. Purchase dealer told us nothing wrong, after the 5Th visit. They said, Well if you put 4 or more people in it and go on a 30 degree grade that thats how it runs. Then why would I buy a 7 passenger 3 row seating SUV? Oh and also the brackets that hold down the seating are rusted. They said that is normal wear? And now today when I pull out its driving like theres a flat tire. But no flat.

I am a GMC 2008 Acadia owner. I have seen many forums related to the above subject. I am in a very similar situation. I have heard the whine or moan type noise when I would turn the steering wheel. I took my Acadia in the GMC dealer in Merced, CA. They quoted me an outrageous amount of $1,800.00+ to have it fixed. It is out of warranty and I did not have the funds to pay for the work/parts. Now my A/C has went out. I took it in to a local radiator shop and they informed me it was caused by the power steering line making contact with the A/C line and has caused a hole in it. The part for the A/C line is over $700.00. I am at a loss here and have nowhere else to turn to for help on this vehicle. As it stands now, I am currently out of an A/C that was caused by the power steering line. As I understand by reviewing many forums, this is a known issue that many of GMC Acadias have had. Desperately seeking assistance on this from GMC.

Thanks gmc. I bought a 2007 Arcadia it has 75000 miles on it and I now need a transmission. My car just stopped on the road. For the money I spent and from what I read this is an ongoing problem. I cannot afford 3500 dollars but I guess you could not care one bit. Thanks for all your ads telling me how great this car is.

2008 GMC Acadia - So far purchased 2010 45k. When it rains the interior smells like a smelly gym locker. I replace headlights two times. The broke transmission second gear and reverse $1500. Thats no labor charge. My husband is certified mechanic. 4 recalls on it? Filling car with gas, the car wont start after doing so. Acceleration problems, air condition problems. I Do regular maintenance every 2500 miles. Not happy and still paying for it. The body is nice and well its a piece of junk. I will never buy one again.

We have had multiple problems with our 2008 GMC Acadia. The one that we will be bringing it in for for the 3rd time is a leaky sunroof. In hard rains, it leaks internally leaving us with a very soaked passenger side floor and electrical issues - the first time the car wouldnt shut off even after removing the key. Ive researched this and have found multiple complaints from this model year and others. The dealership claims its not a manufacturers problem. The first time I brought it in and told them the issue (leaking sunroof), they claimed the water was coming up from underneath the car. I went to pick it up on a day with heavy rain. Before leaving the dealership, I tried turning it off and it continued to run even with the key removed - service person was very embarrassed especially after I told him the issue and they said I was wrong. Took it in again with the same problems and they said the sunroof drain was clogged. That was last fall. Today we had a hard rain. The floor is soaked again. My biggest complaint is the dealership/manufacturer not owning up to the problem. As I said, there are numerous blogs with the same complaints, but they wont own up to it. I hate even looking at them, i.e., dealership, any more.

I bought my Acadia in Dec. 13. Within a month of buying it, Ive had trouble with the A/C blowing hot air, and had the catalytic converter replaced. Luckily, it was still under warranty. About 3 weeks ago, the engine light came on again. The repair shop I took it to said it was the transmission. I took it to a transmission shop, who said it was a known problem with this model of transmission, and that it was still being produced, even though its a known piece of junk. GM isnt obligated to do anything, because its not a life threatening problem. I will never buy anything made by GM, again.

Purchased my acadia in october 2008 built custom from factory. I love my truck, my idea was to drive it for 200,000 miles. But at 42,000 miles the transmission went out, all types of other repeated problems, but was absorbed thru the extended gmpp warranty I paid for. Now right after my 95,000 mile warranty is up, Ive moved into my next round of problems. At 105,000, transmission control module goes out 1,200$, water pump replacement (free) and thermostat replacement 480$, front end rack & pinion and struts 600$, car shuts off, all types electrical system going crazy. Today Im told 680 for a fuse box. I love the style and idea of the acadia but the company and dealers and crooks. I have an 08 kia optima I bought new at the same time. It has 90,000 miles on it and all I do to it is change the oil and they gave me free lifetime oil changes for that!!! I WILL NEVER BUY AMERICAN AGAIN!!!!!

I bought my Acadia used from Bob Allen Dealership in Danville, KY in July 2010. At 62,100 miles, rain water started leaking into the cabin of the vehicle on the passenger side and rear seating areas. I could hear the water moving around inside the roof compartments while driving. The carpet becomes wet repeatedly. At one point it started to have mildew on the passenger side carpet. I have had it cleaned on several occasions. The battery compartment in the rear passenger side floor board filled with water. I took it to a mechanic, had the water drained and battery replaced. The water damage has caused electrical issues. My radio, cd player, and navigation system no longer works. I had to remove the fuse from the speakers to stop a loud irritating sound. The power steering pump was replaced around 80,000 miles. A mechanic stated that I need new struts. There is a metal to metal grinding noise when I place the transmission into drive mode. When I refill my gas tank, my Acadia will not start on the 1st or 2nd attempt. I have to push hard on the gas while turning on the ignition switch in order to start my engine. Afterwards, it starts without issues until the next trip to the gas station.I took my Acadia in to repair the roof leak twice. The drain ports were cleared. Although the second repair attempt decreased the amount of water leaking into the vehicle, my windows still become drenched from the inside. During the winter months, the water on the inside of my windows freeze. I have contacted GMC about the water leak issue. I was told by GMC that I should contact their GMC overseas department because I was stationed in Germany. I was later told that my VIN was not covered. I am basically stuck with a car that has caused me to pay way more than I ever expected in repair work. GMC has failed miserably with the Acadia model vehicle. I will never own a GMC vehicle again.

I bought my 2009 Acadia new - I bought the extended warranty... Too bad I dont still have it now that my transmission has failed (Like MANY others). This car has been to the shop so many times, they all know me by name. Ignition coils all failed, and failed again, timing chain stretched (and now the transmission).. I also have an engine light on with an exhaust system problem. It goes on and on. I once loved this vehicle, but it has turned into the BIGGEST MISTAKE I have ever made in a car purchase. I can honestly say that after having 3 other cars purchased new, this has been the most troublesome piece of junk of all. I am so disappointed, especially after reading all of the complaints and problems here. I would NEVER EVER endorse the purchase of this vehicle. I am waiting patiently for the day I get rid of it--and will likely get nothing much in trade--theyre on to you GM.

My 2010 Acadia is needing its 3rd water pump. I have already had to have the struts replaced and now the dealership is saying I need them again. I am being informed my timing chains are stretched and need replacing too. This has truly been the worst vehicle I have ever purchased and will definitely steer clear of making that mistake again. Despite the multiple complaints over many of these same issues, the only thing I can get covered under warranty by GMC is the water pump... of course, the least expensive thing to fix. Its a shame the company will not help the consumers out, but in the end, they are only hurting themselves. Never buying GM again!

I recently purchased a used 2008 GMC Acadia after scouring a trusted dealerships lot for a new SUV. I immediately fell in love with the features and look for the Acadia and signed my hard earned money away on the dotted line. Less than two months in, I now realize that this was the worst decision of my life. It drove smooth at first but I began to notice some transmission issues when accelerating. It wasnt noticeable enough to be a major deal as I am used to some lag in acceleration when driving heavier SUVs (I traded in a Toyota Sequoia). Now just one week after making my first payment my check engine light is as bright as day. As I scroll these reviews and look online for anger management counselors to keep me from flipping out at my local dealership and on the phone with GMC I am preparing a strategy to get rid of this vehicle especially now that I see all of the negative feedback. Thanks for all that have posted their experiences, I will never ever buy American or GMC again, back to foreign.

2009 GMC Acadia SLT - Well, lets start after I bought it new in 2009. 1ST day after getting home the Sun roof was leaking, would not seal all the way closed and the right headlight went out. Next issue was about 5100 miles when I went to shut the car off and pull the key out and it stayed running until I put the key in and out several times to shut it off. Around 25000 miles was 2 motor mounts that came loose or Broke they never said? DVD players crapped out shortly after. Both screens and the box under the are rest replaced. 3300 miles - the steering started making a clicking sound and squealing sound. This was the rack and pinion and power steering pump. 37000 - the car just shut down while driving on the interstate. 40000 - water pump went out. Around 45000 - started the loss of coil pack#2 in the motor. 47000 was coil pack#4. 51000 was coil pack #6, after picking it up after this replacement on the way home its started bucking again at 45MPH, guess what? Coil pack #1 is gone. This car has been the WORST US made piece of crap I have ever owned. GMC, I will never buy again nor will my children. GMC was purchased at Ferman Automotive Group in Tampa with Financing $58600.00. All repairs were done at GMC certified dealership in Orlando Florida.

I purchased a new 2012 gmc acadia, in September 2012. Right the first months I had to take it back for 2 issues noticed then: sound/noise heard during cold start and both of the rear interior panels were scuffed. After phone calls and many attempts, these issues were in a way fixed but had to lower my standards. Then, right my very first year of use, the major issues began. The AC (first summer is when I noticed) did not work properly, I live in Vegas with triple digit temperatures during summer, and the ac did not work. Also, the motor started to leak oil. These are the major 2 issues I have had since my first year of owning this LEMON! every year, I have to take it in for the same issues.Just recently called GMC and asked them if they were going to stand behind their product, that they have evidence this vehicle is a LEMON, same issues for the last 4 years in a row now. To not surprise, they are not. They treated me like an idiot, and of course to no surprise, there is nothing they can do for me. Except, oh yeah, they can HELP me with a TRADE!!! It has been weeks waiting for them to call me with a status on my complaint with GMC, and then they had the nerve to call me and advised me of this. This is worse than an insult. Please, do NOT buy ANY GMC, vehicles are expensive as if youre getting the best quality but they are robbing peoples money, please be smart, think what you are buying, do your homework. You can see thousand of complaints just like mine, GMC does not manufacture/sell reliable products/vehicles. They just sell to make money without thinking of what they are selling. Just thinking of sales/numbers for themselves. While we are here making a complaint or reading about it, CEOs are in a gateway with our monies!!! Any advise would be helpful, if youve been in a situation like mine, please tell me how did you handle the outcome. Or if we all together can do something to stop these big companies STEALING our money and making us go through all of these things and inconveniences!! ENOUGH!!! THANK you.

I bought a used 201 Acadia last February 2016. I had it a month and I started noticing the Service StabiliTrak light coming on. Not only did it come on it reduced my engine power. I took it back from where I bought it and the service department claimed it was some sensor. All was good. About three months after that I had to replace the engine mounts. Now it is almost a year later and the StabiliTrak system is out of control. This time I take it to auto shop and the service tech said it was the battery (which was dying anyway). So I replaced the battery and I had to get the heat fixed too because of some actuator thingy. So I am happy to get my car back the next day. I had to drive an hour from home to work on that Monday and as soon as I made it to parking garage it started again with Service StabiliTrak. SO when I get off 9 hours later I am thinking I can just disengage the system but I could not figure it out. I drove home with hazard lights and prayed it would make it to certified GMC dealership for service. Two days later they say it was the throttle body so I hope when I pick up my vehicle today the issue is resolved.

My new Acadia has been torn apart at the dealership now for weeks. Bought my 2017 Acadia SLT in May. Loved the drive such a great & comfortable SUV. Then the spotting started. I had been noticing the vehicle leaving spots on my driveway. I really was trying to convince myself that it was just A/C water. Took my new baby in to find out what was leaking. The technician showed me. He said, I really thought I was just going to tell you it was moisture from the A/C. Instead what he had was a large puddle of fluid & a bad Transmission leak! WTF. This car has 4k miles on it.Now they have to rip out the transmission? Now that was 2 weeks ago. Today I call and Im informed that they found the source of the leak. The Torque Converter!!! GMC! My car is brand ** new and now its going to be in the shop for a few more weeks! Im trying to be patient... but something needs to be done! I want to give a negative stars. The car while running is great, but its already broken... and it wasnt even the best deal out there!!!

2007 GMC Acadia - Just left home, driving along at 25 mph and my transmission stopped working. The car just stalled. Point blank. This really is awful as I have read that GMC hasnt issued a transmission/powertrain recall? Is this true? Acadias are not cheap and less than 65,000 miles, this happens? Oh and the kicker, GMC chat personnel tells me that I MAYBE can be qualified for assistance to pay for repairs! I am so angry I will never ever buy another GMC product again and will tell everyone my experience!

I purchased a 2015 GMC Acadia in September 2014. The steering wheel shakes terribly. Ive brought it to the dealer several times. At first they said the tires had flat spots and would correct itself. Then they did a special wheel alignment on it. 40,000 miles later and having brought it to other shops (shops specializing in tires) I am still having the issue. In March 2015 (6 months after purchase) I had to have the brakes, rotors, brake pads, calipers, --everything replaced at a GM dealership in Florida as the rear brakes etc were completely rusted out. They had to use a sledgehammer to get things off. In September 2015, I had to have the same rear brake parts replaced as they had rusted out again!I used to drive 100,000 miles a year and never had this happen. Now I drive 20,000 and the brakes are rusting out. Ive lived in the same area for 60 years, so its not that Ive moved. I love the Acadia - but with the shaking steering wheel and the brakes rusting out, I wouldnt recommend buying it. Also the XM radio goofs up (not a big deal but it does happen) and they installed their WIFI in the Acadia and it shows theres a signal, but you cant use the WIFI.

I have owned this 2008 Acadia for less than a year and have only put 20,000 miles on it. And the transmission went out leaving us with an expensive towing bill and from what I am reading, this is a common problem. What a lousy Christmas present from GMC. A known problem and they arent doing a recall? I have 4 friends that were so impressed with my beautiful Acadia that they also have went out and bought one. I feel horrible and dread telling them tomorrow that they should probably trade ASAP!!! GMC isnt taking responsibility on this problem. Looks like I am looking at a very expensive repair and probably a lousy trade in.

2007/2008 GMC Acadia needs to have its transmission recalled. Like everyone else out there with the early year Acadia and GM clone cars I now have a completely useless transmission. If you havent had issues with yours you soon will. GM customer care is there to listen and then to respond with there is nothing that they are willing to do. The reason for the wave plates breaking is GMs failure to harden the wave plates used within the transmission. An issue they corrected for the 2009 model. After calling around to numerous shops I have been quoted anything from $4200 to $5700 at the dealer. One shop owner told me its his favorite transmission, because its the one that pays his bills. Like I started I cannot believe this has not been recalled, if anyone knows about a class action lawsuit against GM for this issue or would like to pursue one I would be all ears.

We bought my 2008 GMC Acadia brand new! When I had 30,000 miles on it, my transmission went out! I got it back and 1 day later, the Camshaft went out! It was in the shop for months! At 72,000 miles on it and 6 years, my engine is SHOT. $7,500 for a new one! The engine went out 2 weeks after my warranty was up! GM refused to do anything about it and I was never offered an extended warranty! So the repairs will be 3/4 what the car is worth! I called GM and explained the situation and the generous jerks said all they would do for me was give me $2,000 toward a new car! I talked to dealership and they explained it wasnt just a GM loyalty bonus, it was all they would give me for my trade in!! So I pay $43,000 for vehicle and 6 years later, its only worth $2,000!! Blue book is $11,000!! All I wanted was to at least get 1/2 of the blue book! However, that was not even considered! We have bought 8 GM vehicles brand new totaling $275,000! My dad retired from GM so I have always been loyal!! Never had any issues with our 4 Avalanches, Montana Van, Camaro, and Cavalier! The Acadia was my favorite (at first). I loved the style and room in it, but Ive seriously been so disappointed by all the issues - engine, camshaft, transmission, no radio or sounds because amp is fried! Front end making awful noises which again, they refused to fix! I will be purchasing another GM (dads discount is too good to turn down) and I hope and pray it will be alright because like I said, this Acadia is the only one weve had trouble with! I hope this helps someone! Make sure if you buy an Acadia to take it in at 36,000 and have a diagnostic run even if you dont notice anything and again before the 100,000 or 5 years!

2007 GMC Acadia radio and sound issues - About a year and a half ago, we started experiencing problems with having no sounds for the radio, blinkers, seat belt, back up warning sound that a child or something is behind the vehicle etc. This is definitely a safety issue if the warning beep is not working when backing up. This happened off and on at first and then everything sound wise has stopped working now for the last 16 months. Except for about 30 minutes this summer when all of the sudden we had sound again. We have no idea what happened but the sound quit again and we have not had any sound since. GMC has said they dont know what the cause is and we should take the vehicle to the dealer to troubleshoot the issue. This will entail a repair bill of hundreds of dollars from what the dealer has estimated. I have read and heard this is a common problem with the Acadia. Looks like GM would step up and recall and fix all these issues everyone is having with the Acadia. Very disappointed with GM and their failure to resolve these issues.

Our SUV sounds like mine. Electronic motherboard went out six months in, water pump, eleven months in, intermittent whirring sound (which I was told repeatedly it was a design flaw then once that I needed an oil change). In addition the air conditioner gradually loss cooling then discovered leak in a hose to condenser. Now power steering completely gone and so is air. Of course they are able to find problems now that its all out of warranty. GMC national is no help. They lie and cover up all problems. Think of it as the VA of the auto world.

Ive purchased a 2007 GMC Acadia that has been dangerous when driving in the heavy rain. The car will lose control and wobble and the power steering doesnt work while the car swerves and the traction light goes on. Ive almost been in a few dangerous accidents because of this problem with the kids in the car. Ive taken this car in for recalls that the company has sent me but none was for power steering. Every time I ask them to address and fix this issue, they ignore the question saying that its something else. The power steering also makes a moaning whining noise when turning.

I purchased my 2007 GMC Acadia brand New. A week after owning it, the liftgate shocks went bad, it hit me in the head putting groceries away. I NOTICED a popping sound coming from the steering, as Id turn, took it in, according to them its fine... 3 weeks, I was just driving and it completely shut down no warning, I had to put it into park, restart it. Took it in, ran a diagnosis and nothing. December 2008, winter I was driving the car, the gas pedal went to the floor again, no warning, almost wrecked into a pole. Ive had continuous issues with my SUV, with the warranty, even worse now that I paid it off, repairs are more than anything else. Approximately 4000.00 in repairs now. I feel I should get a replacement being that this SUV only has 47,000 miles on it!!! Currently its in the shop, for the throttle body, last month I formed out $900.00 for brakes! Paid $125 For evap. valve. Im sick of this unsafe cartel or junk. I dont even take my child around in it because its not safe!

I purchased my 2009 GMC Acadia in 2011 and was in love. I have never has put in so much money into a vehicle!!! My transmission died and had to have it rebuilt for $3500 but also found out timing chain is loose, so thats more money I will have to dish out for!!! Will go back to foreign cars after this experience. Cant wait until I get rid of this vehicle!!!

2007 Acadia. The transmission went out at 125000 miles. It was replaced at certified GM dealership at the cost of 3961.22 Dec. 2014. In March, I received a letter from GMC that some 2007 have experienced a cracked or fractured wave plate. This was the exact problem with my car. GMC will not reimburse us for the repair because of the mileage, even though they are aware of the faulty part. I dont understand how GM can expect loyal customers when they wont take care of us!! Well I bought my car in November 2015. It was my dream car. Acadia Denali 2011. Fully loaded. Got a great price on it. Had 1600 thousand miles, leather seats, Bose stereo system. Love it so much. It has now 3300 thousand miles on it and I am having so many problems. I got in a accident on April 4, 2016. Was not my fault. They fixed it 20 days later.Four days later pink fluid was pouring out of the bottom of my car. Took it back to the collision place. They said it was power steering fluid. They looked at it and could not find anything wrong. May 16th 2016 took it back again and they checked hoses and everything that could be leaking. They said, Take it to the dealership. Well I was looking up things before I took it to the Dealership. They were having problems with the Steering units on Acadias from 2007 to 2011. They have to fix it for free. Of course why would they tell anyone that. Also my coolant is empty. I really do not understand what is going on with my car. Took it today to the Dealership. They cannot find anything but a oil leak. I have no light saying anything is wrong but I need to know if anyone is having this problem. I was told that my coolant is empty. My engine would freeze up correct.

2009 GMC Acadia was exactly what I wanted...so I thought! Little did I know that I would be driving with my 5 year old in the car when it essentially shut off in the middle of the Interstate at less than 2 years old! That was the beginning of the END. It was year 2011 and this amazing car became nothing more than a Lemon... It needed a NEW ENGINE. I knew I was in for it and I was right. All of these posts are exactly what Ive been through. I dont remember all of the correct descriptions but StabiliTrak, steering pump, motor mount are just a few to mention. I was hoping to keep the car for ONE more year...but now the car wont shift...wont go. Guess what? Wave plate fractured sending pieces of ground metal teeth throughout the transmission. Refurbished transmission needed for $4,800 or new for $6,800. I was happy to receive the wave plate recall letter in the mail but lucky me the tranny died after 120k miles so its not covered. I called GM to discuss a better cost for a transmission.. I said Im not asking for a new car. Im not asking for a new transmission. I simply needed my GMC Acadia to function through 2015 and $4,800 is a high price to pay considering the thousands already invested in repairs. Theyve known about the so-called wave plate issue for a long time...before my car passed the 120k mark.

I purchased a 2008 Acadia brand new. First transmission was replaced at approximately 60000 miles. Second one at 122000. I have been a GM person all my life. However, from what I have read, I would stay away from most of the GM line. Their transmissions seem to be of poor quality.

Bought a new 2014 Acadia Denali - almost $60K. After 8 months, the driver’s seat started making a Clicking noise when I shifted my weight slightly. It was loud and often enough that passengers asked what that noise was. Called the dealer I bought it from, but they were booked up for a week. Took it to another dealer and explained the problem. He said it was the seat tracks and that it was a very common complaint. He could replace the tracks, but that I would be back in three months with the same complaint. Since it was a warranty issue, I told him to order several sets because I would expect them to be replaced. He told me that he would only replace them once, and that I should go back to the dealer that I bought the truck from as he was not about to use up his warranty allocation on me. GM does everything in their power to sell you a vehicle. However, they fall short on support and service. After owning 3 GM vehicles in the past, this will be my last GM product.

My 2008 GMC Acadia truck is 4 years old and has 56k miles on it. Its very well taken care of. It started making noises while driving so I had it inspected at GMC dealer in Orange, Virginia. A very nice repairman said the steering rack is cracked, but because I dont have a newer model, Acadia, this isnt covered under the 100,000-mile warranty GMC offers. After doing research about this topic, I find dozens of websites with many, many people all having the exact same problem with the exact same model and year Acadia. While I was told that this is a very serious issue, no recall has ever been issued by GMC. However, I was told that GMC is aware of the problem and has re-designed their newer model steering racks. I spoke with GMC headquarters asking for this to be a covered expense so I dont have my two children in danger. The guy on the phone was quite rude and said he has the final authority and he did not approve my request. When I asked if there was someone else I could speak with, I was told that any further communication on this subject would have to be taken outside of GMC and that they would no longer speak on my claims. I was so angry I was speechless. I dont understand how they can claim they know this is serious and know there is a problem but never recall the vehicle! And why is this now a covered warranty repair but it isnt for my vehicle?

I called GM because my 2008 GMC Acadia SLT FWD car is completely out of commission and was told to get a diagnostic from a local GMC Dealer and I had to pay for it out of pocket. But why would I take my car to a GM dealer to tell me my car’s problem isnt a recall related problem? I refuse to give you any of my money! I am very disappointed! The woman from GM said theres not any recalls on this vehicle but my seat belt chime wont stop dinging, my car wont drive at all, my RPM gauge is revving past 4, the power steering is very tight and locks up turning corners and parking. Thank god I wasnt driving on the highway when this started, it wouldve been a very bad accident. I cant believe this. I wouldnt have thought a reputable company would have invested in excellent parts and genuine work. I would never recommend GM nor will I ever waste my money on any of their vehicles again.

We have a 2011 GMC Acadia, 53,000 miles later still no issues. The only issue we have had is a wiring issue. The lights didnt work right so we got it fixed. We have not had an issue since and couldnt be happier with this car. Great job GM, the only reason why these others are saying bad things about it is because they are nothing but full-blown HATERS! This car is absolutely amazing. Plus everyone knows not to bring their cars to the dealership unless its under warranty because they LIE about things that are broken or it still works they just want their money. If its under warranty sure but if not take it to a family repair shop. Overall the Acadia is WOW.

We bought a 2009 Acadia in summer of 08. This spring of 2014 at 54,000ish miles we started having issues. Because of the catalytic converter and engine design, buildup from the fuel caused the cat to go and burned up a couple of coils on the engine. We also have a steering wheel issue. The mechanism could go at any time. We keep losing oil on that because of a broken gasket. Because of the way its designed instead of just replacing that one small part we have to replace the whole thing, $1100. Luckily the dealership did us a good turn and replaced the cat for free even though it was not warrantied and paid for our car to be towed since it could not be driven there. We paid for labor and other maintenance replacements. Between the two car repairs we spent about $1400.I didnt leave feeling very confident that this wouldnt happen again. I was told to only put Chevron gas in the car, mid grade or higher. I would even go so far as to put fuel cleaner (highest quality they make) in with a new tank of gas for extra insurance now and then. I would also recommend before 30,000 miles or before 60,000 miles, that you get your transmission flushed. They have a program that will give you $2000 or $1000 towards a new transmission should it go out if you are good about maintaining your vehicle. Its like a maintenance reward program.The dealership repair guys were great. Although I am very disappointed in a $40,000 vehicle that would cost us this much before 60,000 miles. We never had these troubles with our Subaru or Nissan. Our car still doesnt run great and we still need to put more money for repairs into it. If GMC would put more effort into improving their mechanical end, their products would be awesome. I wont buy another GMC though. Just not worth it for all the repair costs and hassle involved in breakdowns.

With so many choices out here in SUVs I shopped for a long time and decided on the 2014 GMC Acadia SLE 2 for many reasons. I began noticing them in 2008 and everyone I spoke with about them seemed very pleased both with their performance and the comfortable ride. It has WI FI and all the whistles and bells but to be honest I dont care a thing about any of that. I care about reliability and efficiency. For a big heavy SUV it gets 27 MPG Highway if youre not a lead foot, and it is truly my dream car. It also has the towing package and can pull a 2 horse trailer loaded, or big boat etc.I purchased it in Dec. 2015 from Eagle Buick GMC in Homosassa, Florida. In the past Ive owned Jeep Cherokees, Nissans and Toyotas. But I just didnt get the comfortable ride or performance this Acadia offers. I also have to be honest. I was disappointed in the 2017 model. GMC has reduced it to be honest to a smaller version and not the ride the 2016s back to 2008 have. The new one looks more like an old souped up GMC Jimmy than an Acadia.

December 18, 2010. Purchased 2011 GMC Acadia LT-1, Model ACA, for $39,363.19. November 2015 - Received the following notice from GMC: As the owner of a 2011 model year GMC Acadia, your satisfaction with our product is very important to us. This letter is intended to make you aware that, on some 2011 model year GMC Acadia vehicles, the throttle-position sensor may cause the engine to run rough, cause the malfunction-indicator lamp and/or an engine reduced power message to illuminate, and reduce the engine’s power. Do not take your vehicle to your GMC dealer as a result of this letter unless you believe that your vehicle has the condition as described above. General Motors is providing owners with additional protection for the condition described above. If this condition occurs on your 2011 GMC Acadia within 10 years of the date your vehicle was originally placed in service or 120,000 miles, whichever occurs first, the condition will be repaired for you at no charge. Our Acadia did not have the malfunction-indicator lamp and/or an engine reduced power message illuminate but starting in January 2016, the engine did start to run rough.January 2 – January 7, 2016. First Noticed Problems: Our Acadia engine was running very rough – idling, accelerating with unusual RPM’s, not running smoothly, stopped at lights and it felt it was going to die, etc. The Acadia has 60K miles on it. Brought the car to BTR (garage we have used for over 20 years, and 9 cars). BTR replaced four Solenoids, which did not fix the problem. After several more days trying to diagnose the problem, they suggested we have the car towed to a GM dealer that was most convenient, Classic Chevrolet. So we did.January 8 – January 25, 2016. Classic Chevrolet reported that the problem was the Catalytic Converter, and that they would replace it, under warranty. Apparently, this did not fix the problem. After researching this for several days, they were looking at a timing chain. Classic informed us that ‘needed to open the front end to further diagnose it. This was going to cost us $1,600 to open up the engine, and it could cost significantly more depending on what they find.’ Classic then reported they found ‘metal shavings’ in the oil, diagnosed the problem as “Catastrophic Engine Failure” and reported we needed a whole new engine, at a cost of about $7,700, on a 2011 GMC Acadia with 60K miles. Classic stated that since we had not had the Acadia serviced (i.e. oil changes, etc.) at a GM dealer, thus ACDelco oil filters were not used, we would be responsible for 100% of the cost.After we provided receipts for the regular maintenance required for an automobile, Classic stated that GM would pay for 60% of the new engine, and we would be responsible for 40% of the costs. The offer of us paying for 40% of the costs of a new engine is unacceptable. According to our Acadia’s owner’s manual we were not required, nor is it even suggested, to use ACDelco oil filters, and that according to the Federal Trade Commission, i.e. the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, it is against the law for a car manufacturer to mandate a specific brand of car product, unless it is provided at no charge. After we informed Classic of the above mentioned point, Classic Chevrolet stated they wanted to tow the car to a GMC dealership. So, it was towed to GMC Beck & Masten North. This is where the car was purchased in 2010.January 25 – Present. Upon receipt of the car, GMC Beck & Masten North first reported they needed to do their own diagnostic research as no paperwork was sent with the car. Furthermore, they stated the car started up fine, albeit it was running a little rough, but they would get back to us with further details as soon as possible. After over 2 weeks at this dealer, now the 3rd repair shop to be used, the service manager stated that ‘the engine looks good, appears to be well maintained. Our service records were good but he was waiting on GMC to see what kind of assistance they could offer. He also stated the oil looked good, and that he did not see any problem with the filter and/or using after market oil filters.’Finally, Beck & Masten stated the engine needs to be replaced – 5 of the 6 bearings were spun/gone – it would cost approximately $8,000, and that GMC would pay for 50% of the costs and we would be responsible for the other 50%. Again, this is totally unacceptable. Beck & Masten stated they would talk to their regional GMC representative and get back to us. Other notes during this process: This is 2011 GMC Acadia – purchased on December 18, 2010 – it has 60K miles on it – the problems started 5 years and 15 days after it was purchased. It is not stated in the owner’s manual what brand, or what specs are required, in an oil filter. We have serviced this car regularly since the date it was purchased – have provided all receipts to date. We have spoken to GMC Customer Service, (1-800-462-8782), during this whole process.We have been told to be patient 63 times. Industrial Distributors, supplier of the oil filters to BTR, called Classic Chevrolet, the dealer who originally stated the after-market oil filters were faulty, in attempt to investigate the filter scenario in more detail. Classic never returned phone call. General Manager of Classic Chevrolet, commented that he ‘had a hard time believing that after-market oil filters would cause catastrophic engine failure.’ We have been told “I understand your frustration”, 47 times. Beck& Masten, stated there could be two reasons that this many bearings in an engine would fail. 1. There was water in the engine, i.e. car drove through high water. However, they stated there was no evidence this ever occurred (which we also attested to), or 2. There was poor lubrication in the engine due to lack of oil. We have provided all receipts affirming the Acadia was serviced at regular intervals. We have further reported that at no time was there an indication that oil was low in the Acadia. Therefore, if poor lubrication did occur, any warning indicators in the Acadia did not work properly.The engine in the Acadia is a 3.6 LLT, is a Direct Injection Engine. This feature causes extremely rapid degradation/failure of the oil between changes, resulting in rapid degradation of cam gears, timing chains and premature failure of crank bearings. It is our understanding GM stopped using this engine in the Cadillacs, LaCrosses and Camaros. General Manager of GMC Beck & Masten, stated, unsolicited, that his recommendation for the future, whether it is a GM product or not, to have cars serviced only at a dealer, because it ‘carries more weight.” Commentary: Kind of interesting how a GM would suggest building your war chest for a potential fight with the manufacturer. Is GM building cars anticipating situations like this to happen on a regular occurrence? Several times, we asked Classic Chevrolet, GMC Customer Service and GMC Beck & Masten North for their diagnoses in writing. As of this date, nothing has been provided.Not once, have we seen any evidence that GM, GMC, Classic Chevrolet, and GMC Beck & Masten North, are working together to resolve this issue. Commentary: seems to be a Catastrophic Communication Failure for a Catastrophic Engine Failure! GMC, GM, GMC Beck & Masten, not to mention numerous auto mechanics we have talked to, all question, “Why was the car transferred from one GM dealer to another GM dealer?” BTR – it was explained to us that a catastrophic engine failure is a term used to describe a complete failure of the engine. 5 out 6 bearings spun would mean completely knock out the engine. If a bearing fails, you hear a “knock” or a “ping”, usually one fails at a time. If there were 5 bearings failed it had to be an instantaneous loss of oil and a catastrophic failure. If the engine ran on January 8th to check the catalytic converter, when did this catastrophic failure occur? On Jan 26th, after going to Beck & Masten, the engine started up but ran hard with knocks. I was under the impression with 5 bearings failed the engine shouldn’t even start. Beck & Masten sent this to us a little while ago: When we disassembled your vehicle, we found 5 spun rod bearings and scored cylinder walls. The engine (inside) was not dirty and the oil was clean. The oil looked to have been changed recently. Cause of failure is unknown. It will be necessary to replace engine to complete this repair. Commentary: Kind of sounds like a faulty engine to me!

I got a 2016 gmc acadia in oct 2015. Weeks after I noticed a noise coming from the engine. Took car in Dec 2015 and was told there was a problem with the sln valve faults p05cc, p05cd, p05cf, and p05ce. Dealership replaced all 4 actuators. Contacted gmc and told them that my vehicle is a lemon. Earlier this year started to have same problem informed dealership. Sunday 8/7 coming back from an outing got a ln alert on dashboard engine overheating. Had to pull over. Had vehicle towed to dealership, diagnostics engine is damaged. They had to order a new engine which will take about 2 weeks. Contacted gmc, open case and have not heard back. I just want for them to buy my car back because they sold me a lemon. Brand new car I should not be having these problems.

I have a 2014 GMC Acadia that I purchased new. I have had a hesitation upon inclines for the past 6 months. Service says theres nothing wrong. Tech took a ride with me and confirmed he felt the hesitation too but computer says nothing wrong. Ive complained about it three times already. So now I have had my car almost stall twice in three days with my two kids in the car crossing over an extremely busy two-way road. The check engine light went on both times it occurred. Now my Acadia with 17,000 is at the dealer getting a new fuel injector!!! I will never buy another GMC!!!

The horse power in this vehicle is amazing, 310hp stock. The engine under 60 miles an hr kicks over to a 4 cylinder to conserve gas. With my long commutes each day I can get 450 miles out of the 22 gallon tank.

Ive just purchased this 2007 Arcadia four months ago. Was excited at first, but now really disappointed. Audio system isnt good at all, goes on and off. Now it been out for a month. All these reviews I been reading, people have the same issue and GMC not trying to make it right. Thinking about trading it already and not purchase anymore GMC. Because its sad the money they made off people and dont make an attempt to make it right.

We purchased our vehicle new and have been pleased with it except the transmission. It never, ever sounded right when shifting. This vehicle has only 55,000 miles. We were on our way to Wisconsin to visit family recently when, after shifting into reverse, we heard this very loud noise. We thought we hit something but found out quickly that it was the transmission. After discussing what our best options were, we decided to have it towed back to our local dealer at a cost of $528. Then renting a car to return home, we received the bad news that the repair would cost $2000. We asked the dealer if they reported these kinds of repairs to GM and they said not when its out of warranty. We will think long and hard before we buy another GM vehicle and we certainly cannot recommend them to family and friends.

I bought my GMC Acadia fully loaded in March 2008. It started to leak in November of the same year. I had it repaired under warranty and they said that it was a factory issue that was happening to other Acadia owners. About a year later, it starts to leak from different places. Long story short, now that I have no warranty left, the dealers say that I have to pay for the repairs. I dont think I should have to pay for something that I didnt cause or not from normal wear and tear.

My 2009 GMC Acadia has had 4 of 6 cylinder ignition coils go bad, 2 of 3 catalytic converters, power lift gate 3 times and countless other recalls. Including the heated washer fluid option where the fix was just to take it out. On the fourth coil going out I had enough and asked the dealer to contact GM to see if there was anything they could do. In my opinion a 66% failure rate is excessive. The response from GM was that they would do nothing since the car is outside of 36,000 miles. I had them escalate the request and just heard back from GM. The rep that called me said that it was there was nothing that they could do since it was outside of 36,000 miles. When I asked if it was normal and ok for GM to have a 66% failure rate the rep told me that he did not even know what the part was and did not know if it was normal or not. So I am driving the dealers courtesy car for the second week until I get an answer that makes sense. Will never buy a GM car again.

Love the SUV however, it has fallen apart mechanically from the water pump to the Transmission and everything in-between. Many of the problems were known by GMC so they came up on recall except for the transmission which I fought them for and got a free one. Steering, brake system, cooling system, wiring harness, front and rear air, sound system, etc... If my wife wasnt such a fan of how it drives and sits up so she feels safe I would have dumped it.

I trade in my Pacifica for supposed certified GMC Acadia and that was my biggest mistake in my life. Purchased the suv with 30,000 miles and with only 62000 miles spend 4000, new transmission, 300, Throttle body. Suspension, 700. New rotor, 500. Stability track service and counting. Dont ever get a GMC truck if you dont want a headache.

Being a GM family, we have been loyal to the brand but the Acadia falls far short compared to the companys other SUVs. There are 943 Technical Service Bulletins issued for the 2017 Acadia alone! Most of them are related to random leaks, failures with steering, suspension and brakes. As the principal driver, I can attest handling is not as stable as the one-size-down Equinox, although it improved noticeably when we switched to a better tire than what came with the car. Within a few months of purchase, the SUV developed a drive train problem, and it was difficult to find a dealership familiar with the bulletin issued by GM and knew how to resolve it. This is now a known problem, with over 300 registered complaints posted just for this particular repair. Another annoying and known issue: at the gas pump, the baffle in the gas tank causes the fuel pump to shut off after 3 gallons. The solution is to manually hold down the level on the pump, or it will keep shutting off after every 2-3 gallons, even when the tank is nearly empty. And then there are the myriad leaks, detailed in the complaints and TSBs…

I lose the power steering from time to time. It is bad when I am making a turn as I have almost run off the road several times! They tell me it will cost $1,900 to fix. Others have done the repair and still have a problem. Is this a GM problem??

My GMC Acadia has really turned into a piece of crap of a vehicle backed up by a piece of crap company, GM. I purchased a 2011 GMC and immediately had issues. The gas gauge is defective, power steering makes noises, radio works intermittently, and water leaks into the vehicle from the rear sun roof. GM refuses to take responsibility or assist me with repairs. The attitude I have received has been miserable. DO NOT BUY GM products.

I bought a brand new 2014 Acadia in December. It is now August and I have had 3 different problems. When the car was 6 weeks old, my car died in a parking lot (leaving me blocking parked cars) in 20 degree weather with my 3 year old in the car. After being towed to the dealership, I was told that I didnt have any fuel in the tank although it said I had 54 miles to empty (OnStar confirmed). This was found to be a problem with the reading in the tank and shortly after became a recall. Two months later I started hearing a crunching sound in the tires when I turned a corner. This ended up being some belt that wasnt getting the right amount of fluid so it snapped. That repair took three days so I had to have a rental car... even though I paid top dollar for a brand new car, I was riding around in a rental car. At this point, I was very frustrated but still loved the look and roominess of this vehicle. During the summer I started hearing a squealing when I turned the air conditioner on. Within days I was getting no cold air on very hot days. The dealership could not find a leak but recharged it and sent me home. Within a week and a half the squealing started again... clearly a problem! So I called to report it but was leaving for vacation the next day so made an appointment for the day I got back. I took it in and they ran a light over the system to see if there was a leak... no leak found and sent me home. Within two days while driving with my children in the car, we could not get any cold air and it was a very hot, humid day. Now Im riding around in my new car with my windows down sweating. I called right away and was told that my car would not give as much cold air while idling (what??) and that the air conditioner might not be able to keep up with the humidity! Really, are you kidding me? Why did I pay this much for a car that cannot keep me cold when its hot all summer? They told me to bring it back in and they would run the light over it again. I didnt have a day that I could stop and it had cooled off outside so I was getting colder air...so apparently my brand new car really cant handle humidity... What a piece of junk! So, its hot again (over 90 degrees) and we literally cant breathe in the car. It is blowing hot air when its humid out. My husband called and spoke with the service manager who said he would call back which he did... 9 hours later and left a voice mail. He said they would run a light over it and if it didnt show a leak there was nothing they could do about it and the car could only cool to 64 degrees in this humidity level. Another joke, it never got to 64 degrees, more like 84 degrees blowing on us and if it says 60 thats what it should get to. Another person that tells me my car cant handle the humidity. Its going in today to have another checkup with the light. Is it only me or could the system just not work properly? How could we pay so much and have such a problematic car... so frustrated!!

When we purchased our 2009 Acadia, it was the day they announced their bankruptcy. We bought anyway because we wanted to buy American and be part of the solution. We loved the midsize look and feel and with the captains chairs in the middle, it allowed our third child, not in a carseat, to get to the back row nicely. So this vehicle is very nice for its practicality and spacious feel for all riders given its smaller size.So the bad news. One recall after another after another. I cant complain too much about that, as long as they get it right. What I am angry about is that there is a transmission problem throughout the company. GM mechanics know this. They know the solenoids are crap, but keep putting junk in their vehicles so that we the consumer has to pay an arm and a leg to get a $65 piece replaced because it requires taking the whole engine out. This happened once at 65k miles, and I thought, well, I guess this happens because that is what the mechanic said. But now it is happening again one year later, a different coil this time. I refuse to keep paying for this is. This is a known issue and the company is doing nothing about it.If I have to, I will do something about it. I will go back to buying Mitsubishi and Audi like I have in the past. Never had any solenoid coil problems with those cars. Never had any customer service problems either. As a matter of fact, Audi has stood by their products even out of warranty because they felt bad about a water pump that went bad. Lets see if GM steps up and takes care of those that took care of them in their darkest moment.

They sold these with faulty timing chains and my car (07 Acadia) has 67000. miles on it and out of their extended warranty for the timing chain which they wont fix til it breaks so I will have to pay to fix. Terrible company. Terrible customer service. Totally never going to buy another car from GM.

Generally I am very satisfied. However, I noticed that even in or after a light rain there is slippage in the front tires (front wheel drive). It also does not handle well in any snow. Very disappointed in this problem. Scares me to drive in any weather.

I purchased a 2010 GMC Acadia 2 years ago. I was driving on the Bear Mountain Parkway when my car just lost power. I had my car tow to an auto repair when they indicated that my engine blew. I had oil in my car. My warranty was done. Now Im stuck with a big car note and a Lemon car. I called GMC. They wont stand by their product. Stay away from buying an Arcadia. Read all the reviews before. My mistake was not to read the reviews and to buy an American car. DONT DO IT!!!

I purchased a new 2011 GMC Acadia and three years (38,500 miles) after driving, I was advised by my local dealer that there was a leak in the rack and pinion, and on the steering wheel gear. The cost to repair these was quoted at no less than $1,500. Fortunately, the dealer agreed to perform repairs on goodwill. I was not aware that these were a common issue with Acadias. During the time Ive owned it, I have had to repair electrical wiring on the passenger window as it wouldnt always roll up/down. I have also noticed that when driving on the freeway it slows down/cranks up when shifting gears. I am very disappointed in having to deal with these issues when I still have a note for the vehicle. I contacted GMC directly and posed a few questions which they werent able to answer. 1. What is the guarantee on repairs made? A. No guarantee. 2. What is the average repair cost to own an Acadia? A. They dont have that information. 3. How reliable are Acadias? A. Very reliable vehicle. When I asked if they were aware of low reliability rating on Kelley Blue Book and Edmunds, their response was that they were not aware of that. After my phone call I have decided to sell my Acadia because I deem it unsafe and unreliable and obviously, GMC doesnt stand by its product. Never looking back to GMC.

Reading reviews of the 2008 GMC Acadia... Water leaking into the car when it rains. Transmission failure. Sound system failure. Electronics issues. Grinding in steering. Now my alternator ($1000 to replace at dealer)! And the service lights keep coming on - the dealer wants $200 just to tell me why! This car has been a lemon since the day I bought it. The only reason I dont get a new vehicle is because I own this one and I dont want a car payment - but the repairs Ive paid for once the warranty expired are probably as much or more than a car payment would be.

I purchased my 2008 GMC Acadia in January of 2012. I loved this vehicle because of the features, space, and overall I thought I could trust GMC. Plus, I was expecting my first baby and thought this would be a great family vehicle. I never noticed that my car charger did not work, thought it was the charger but after 4 of them it turns out it was the truck! The dealership did not want to fix it. Then I noticed there was a noise in the tires, dealership wanted to charge just to look at it. Then, the windows wouldnt go down, now, the darn thing wont start! When I am driving, the truck wont go! This is so darn dangerous and GMC tells me I have to fix it myself because they are not responsible. My truck wont start and its the gas pump that was defective from the get go. I will NEVER buy GMC again. They need to take responsibility for the garbage they sold.

I own a 2007 acadia. When we bought it we had nothing but problems. The majority of them were covered. The biggest problem is the amplifiers. They said it wasnt related to my flooded vehicle, so if it is not, then there must be a problem with the amps. In order to get these problems added to a recall we need everyone with the same problem to call GMC customer relation at 1-800-462-8782. I have worked for general motors for over 30 years. I purchased a used 2008 GMC Acadia with a GMC certified vehicle. (Late 2011) AND purchased the extended warranty. At first I was totally in love with this vehicle. Then the transmission went, and it’s been all downhill since then (I do make it noted that the transmission was covered under the original warranty THANKFULLY, but did have problems within hours of getting it back). Every alert light and alarm went off for about 2 minutes (happened while on VERY busy highway). Took it back to the dealer and was told that it was probably still went from the power wash?? So it sat there for 2 more days. Then within 6 months, it was leaking transmission fluid, took it back to the dealer and was told that a gasket was bad. It got taken apart again, and this time my extended warranty covered that with only a $100.00 out of my pocket. Since then I have done my oil changes, taken it in for recalls and all of this is still wrong: This is a list of things that I have currently wrong with my Acadia. 1. Rear window wiper doesn’t turn off. (Don’t use it anymore because of this) 2. Passenger seat warmer light on control panel stays on but seat warmer isnt on. 3. Passenger window (at times) wouldnt go down (at first), but when I would turn off the car, and come back later it would work. Now, it wont go down at all. 4. Back windows are starting to have the same problems as the front passenger side window (I leave them up now and have the air on). 5. Lights on dashboard dim and brighten on their own at any time. 6. While driving all gages, lights, radio, and anything electrical turned off, but CAR STAYED DRIVING. Pulled over shut car off and waited 5 minutes and turned it back on, and everything went back to normal (This has happened 2x so far). 7. Access port for MP3/IPod works on and off, cutting music in and out (I have bought 4 new cords and this happens to them all and the latest one is only 1 month old). 8. Back alert lights and beep stop working on and off. 9. Struts are leaking since transmission was fixed, and didnt before I had that done. 10. When done filling car up with gas, it wont start. It takes SEVERAL tries to get it going.11. Tire sensor went and leaked all the air out of my tire (I got a flat tire and lucky I was in a small town with a garage within walking distance). That cost me $165.00. Now another one is going. And I am noticing that the air is going out of THAT tire!The original warranty is over, and my extended warranty doesnt cover electrical problems. So, total I received ANOTHER recall for this vehicle, this time for the automatic lift gate prop rod. I cannot tell you how disappointed I am. I am currently paying almost $500.00 a month for this car and I cannot afford to put thousands of dollars in it to fix all this! It’s CRAZY! I know some of the problems I have are minor irritations, but if I am paying for a vehicle to have all the bells and whistles, they better work!I called GMC today and voiced my complaints. They are supposed to call me back tomorrow and let me know if they can help me at all. I purchased this vehicle for my two girls, one of whom has spina bifida and needs a wheelchair (so we need lots of room). I need a good performing vehicle because of the amount of time I spend in the car taking her back and forth to doctor appointments that are about 1 hour away from our house. Anyone else experience all of these things?? Did you get it fix?? If so what was it?? Bottom line, I don’t think I will by another GM. I will be optimistic about their call.

For the past 3 months my check engine light continues to come on. I have had a complete tune up, with all spark plugs being replaced, air filters replaced, etc. Always keep levels checked and changed when needed. No real problems with the vehicle (2011 GMC Acadia) until now. Check engine light comes on repeatedly, even after work is completed. I have taken this vehicle to 3 shops for a diagnostic check. Only two had the same diagnostic results. Mostly timing chain issues, possible stretched. I dont understand why this is happening at this point. Has there been any recalls regarding this matter. I havent seen or heard of any recall.

I have an Acadia GMC 2009 chassis No. **. From the mileage of 19870 Km and in 49800Km, I found that sound in the front with any bump and packet of power steering wheels and they told me that is a manufacturing defect. They replaced the packet of power steering wheels twice but it appeared again and the shock absorber they wait since the beginning too but the cost on me. Why is that? I did all the services in your agent and you can check from car history and I spent more than 150 SR in purchasing that car and 7382 SR in services in 28 months only and more than two months in agent for services. Now, I feel very bad about any GMC vehicles and it will affect your reputation here and everywhere and you will lose your customer trust. So find me a good solution please.

I see the complaints are about everything but the 2010 model. At 70,000 miles we just began experiencing hard start after refueling. Otherwise a wonderful vehicle.

Our GMC Acadia has been a lemon from shortly after we paid over $45000 for it new in 2008. The DVD/navigation went out first and two refurbished dealer units later, it still does not work to this day. Then we had the recall for the sunroof drains. Whatever the dealership did, it did NOT stop the water from pouring out of your headliner lamp in the rear. The rear window wiper will not shut off for days if you accidentally turn it on. Next we had the rear window fluid reservoir heater recall. That involved the dealer unplugging it to prevent a fire hazard. Next was the leak in the air conditioning condenser. After three consecutive annual recharge fees ($160 plus each), we hope the one the dealer installed will work next summer. The latest fun involves a dead battery. We replaced it with a new one just to find out it died in just a few hours. Trip to a dealer this morning revealed the dead battery was because of extensive water corrosion to the interior fuse panel. The source of the water is from the first recall issue of the water leaks from the sunroof drain tube defects. The dealer said we should fix the sunroof drain prior to putting the new fuse panel in or the problem will just repeat. Additionally the tech stated we should pay them to clean out the drain tubes on an annual basis just to avoid more electrical damage from water. To top things, the tech also advised us the drivers side axle was shot and that the repairs would total over $1500. We still own 4 GM cars and have been faithful for 35 years. In fact, our next purchase was going to be a Cadillac CTS, but after today we are done with GM. Count me in for a class action suit regarding the Acadia, there are several more issue but I have said enough for now.

My car referenced below is currently dead since 12/15/2011. Diagnosis showed 3 cylinders compression pressure out of 6 is 0. Then they found that the engine is sludge.I brought the car to GMC for inspection on 9/28/2011. The car warranty expired on 9/17/2011. I have 3 questions: 1) Should the inspection procedure detect that there is a problem prior to the collapse of the motor? The car did run for almost 3000 kilometers post the inspection and prior to motor death. 2) Shouldnt GMC still fix this car and consider it still within the warranty? This is because (a) the car was inspected within 10 days of the warranty. The GMC dealer in Lebanon could not take it sooner. GMC dealer told me that they would still consider it under warranty. Also, (b) I really believe that the inspections done by the GMC dealer in Lebanon should have detected it. I cannot imagine the problem if done properly and diligently. I cannot imagine a great company such as GMC would have a bad diagnostic program. And (c) regardless of warranty, how can Acadia die after 30,600 kilometers (less than 20,000 miles), and GMC corporate people in the USA are not all over this lemon car?I would think that the GMC engineering community would be extremely interested in this case and want to learn all about it and come out with a very conclusive conclusion. Instead, the company is allowing a bunch of crooks and bad business/service personnel operate this GMC dealership. It is such organizations that create bad reputations for their mother company, because they put maximized profitability in front of quality and customer care.3) What can cause the death of the Acadia car within 20,000 miles? I brought the car for inspections and oil changes at 11530 kilometers and 27,651 kilometers. Please look into this and take a disciplinary action against your Lebanese GMC dealership and force them to fix the car asap. I expect great companies to act in an honorable way and to keep their customers happy and keep their reputation sky high.Please let me know, I am anxiously waiting,

2010 GMC Acadia. I bought this car December 2015. Start good after that I have to spend every other week by a mechanic and everything with something I have to install and lots of repair. Just name it. Transmission, most of the control arms, ball joint, power steering rack and pinion. Just lemon. Will never buy any GMC anymore.
