2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Breaks Cover as The Ultimate Naturally Aspirated Street-Legal Track Weapon
Posted On: August 17, 2022
The most track-focused naturally aspirated Porsche has made its debut today marking the latest in the 992-generation chapter. The new 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS comes packed with the goods for a street legal track weapon with aggressive aero bits that are all functional and serve the unique purpose of getting this German masterpiece around a track as fast as possible. The 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS takes what we’ve enjoyed in the current 992 GT3 and amplifies it a bit starting with added power in the same engine, to the tune of 518 horsepower at its 9,000 rpm redline and 346 pound-feet of torque from its 4.0-liter flat-six-cylinder engine. The engine comes exclusively mated to the latest PDK 7-speed transmission and a trick adjustable rear differential setup to power the wide rear wheels. The wheels are staggered 20-inch fronts and 21-inch rear centerlock forged lightweight. Every bit of aero that you see, thanks to over 250 hours of testing, is functional and finely tuned for optimal downforce – even the door design, which is made of carbon fiber, is purposeful for the best airflow. There’s a DRS (Drag Reduction System) setup that works with an active system up front and a flap on the rear spoiler. There’s also an airbrake function that’s activated during hard braking at high speeds positioning wing elements to maximize aerodynamic drag. The downforce equates to over 900 pounds (409 kilograms) at 124 mph (200 kph) or 1,895 pounds (860 kg) at 177 mph (285 kph), which is equivalent to that of a Porsche 356 A. Total curb weight for the new 2023 911 GT3 RS is 3,268 pounds. The lightweight aspects are extreme, from the carbon fiber seats to the flooring. Zero to 60 mph is said to take place in 3.0 seconds and the 911 GT3 RS will hit a top speed of 183 mph. The brakes are as serious as you would think, six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers biting down on larger Porsche Ceramic Composite disks. There’s a Clubsport package upgrade at no extra charge that adds a steel rollover bar, six-point seatbelt, and a hand-held fire extinguisher. The Weissach pack makes a return but will cost extra as it adds carbon-weave finish on many exterior components and additional Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) bits like the rear anti-roll bars, rear axle sheer panel, and roll bar. Optional magnesium forged wheels are also available as part of the Weissach package. The new 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS will arrive at U.S. dealerships by Spring 2023 with a starting MSRP of $223,800. If you’re “buddies” with your local Porsche dealership we suggest sparking up a conversation about placing your order, now, rather than later.

This is a quick report as Porsche ownership is very subjective. Have owned an older Porsche Boxster since 2013, and must mention its easily the best car I have ever owed in 40 years. Mine's old, but its like an old race horse, it might be old but its still a race horse. If your lucky enough to own any Porsche, make the most of it whilst possible, before all vehicles become electric and loose their ability to excite the spirit and imagination.
