We spotted the 2023 Kia Telluride, the 2022 Ford Bronco's nearly sold out and has gained a new option, and we drove the 2021 Porsche Panamera Turbo S. It's the Week in Reverse, right here at Motor Authority. The 2023 Kia Telluride was spotted undergoing cold weather testing on public roads. The three-row crossover SUV that punches above its price tag is set to receive a mild refresh with new front and rear end designs, updated LED lighting elements, and likely some tweaks inside the cabin. Don't expect a larger touchscreen as the 10.3-inch unit was just made standard for 2022. Ford revealed the new Ranger Raptor, and this time the smaller off-road pickup truck will come to the U.S. market. Much of the truck's hardware will be shared, though likely retuned for pickup duty, with the Bronco Raptor, which itself shares hardware with the F-150 Raptor. This means, in theory, all three Raptors should be built to withstand similar conditions. Expect the Ranger Raptor to arrive in the U.S. in 2023. Ford still can't build the Bronco fast enough to satisfy demand. Now the automaker's going to close the order books for 2022 Broncos on March 7 as it attempts to produce the backlog of SUVs customers have ordered. Ford also announced a new HOSS 3.0 suspension option with Fox internal bypass shocks and larger tie rods for the Wildtrak model. Magna developed a drop-in electric powertrain for heavy-duty pickup trucks. The dual-motor powertrain replaces the front and rear axles in the pickup and the rear electric motor teams with a new solid rear axle. Magna said the EV powertrain is designed to be a drop-in replacement for the gas powertrain, allowing automakers to bring electric HD pickups to market quicker and in a more cost-efficient manner. We spent some time behind the wheel of the 2021 Porsche Panamera Turbo S and found it delivers the best of all worlds. Despite its large size, the Porsche DNA is unmistakably infused into this full-size luxo GT. The Turbo S model is the ultimate expression of that ethos with big power to go with its big footprint.

My wife was driving down the road and our 2011 Kia Sorento just shut off. She barely made it to the side off the road. When she tried starting it back up the starter fried. We replaced the starter change the oil and air filter along with putting synthetic oil in it. It has always had a whining noise when you drove it and now it has a peck in the motor. Dont know whats going on but cant afford to take it back to the dealership. Does anyone know what the problem could be. Im just disgusting with this car.

Multiple Issues on 2004 Sedona - Lets see where to begin. I bought it new for $15k. Well equipped with lots of stuff standard. I suppose this lures most people in along with the 100k warranty. Within the first 1,000 miles, the starter went out. Infamous brake issues started around 12k. We have replaced the rotors on it three times and getting ready to do the 4th set this week. The vehicle currently has 100,600 miles. The AC capacitor went out at 59k, just under the 60k bumper to bumper expiring, so we got that repaired for nothing. The starter went out again around 70k and that cost $300.00. Wheel bearing have been replaced. A compressor went out around 80k and that cost $400.00. The climate control distribution doors dont open, so air barely blows into the compartment. Rear climate control hasnt worked for years. The coolant lines that run back to the rear unit literally rusted through and the mechanic had to plug the lines and route it so rear climate control isnt even possible. The rear brakes didnt seem to be working, so I took it to a mechanic who pulled the drums and said the shoes hardly looked worn and that the entire rear system had probably been hung up/frozen for years. He tried to free them up and thought he did, but I still dont think they are engaging. Thermostat has been replaced 2 or 3 times and I believe the water pump once. Its very heavy and gets terrible gas mileage, 18-20 miles/gal. I will say, knock on wood, that so far, the drive train has been solid. We have taken it on several long distance trips and have been very fortunate to have not had any problems on the road other than wondering if the brakes would fail at any moment, sweating in the backseats and hoping it wouldnt overheat. Other than that, it has been great!

My car has 52k miles and for some reason, the engine light came on one morning. I was driving to work and I was only a few blocks away from home so I return and asked my roommate if I can use his car to go to work while I take my KIA to the KIA service department. When I picked up my car, they told me the cars computer just needed an upgrade. I thought it was weird but I was happy it wasnt something worse. I automatically noticed a huge, I mean huge, drop in mpg. I bought the car because it was supposed to be good on mileage, otherwise I would have bought a Prius which was my other choice. I took it back the next day and they checked it and they said that they found nothing wrong. I was really upset. They gave me a pamphlet that I should read to show me how to get better gas mileage; I was really pissed. I know how to get the best gas mileage out of my car and I do regular oil changes using synthetic - nothing but the best and regular air filter changes everything. I went from getting between 33-37 mpg to 25-28. I am a very upset KIA own. I dont know what else to do.

I was told the front bumper was replaced before I bought pre-owned. Within a month the paint bubbled and peeled. Bolts were not put in and I am now being told I ran over something and that is why the bolts are missing. I took it back when something rattled and fell off and was shown that a piece of the bottom panel was ripped off. This happened on the freeway after the rattling started about three miles before. I told them they did not replace the bolts when they took the bumper off to paint. They insist I ran over something but only the bolts on both sides are missing. I noticed the front bumper stuck out in spots after I bought it so I know that it was never bolted properly from the beginning. They are saying that if I dont pay to replace the bottom panels they will not allow my warranty if something breaks and the paint is now peeling and bubbling AGAIN. I am going to contact KIA customer service and if it is not fixed I will seek advice from an attorney.

We had to change our battery 3 times in one year. I asked the Kia dealership at one of their regularly scheduled overpriced maintenance to check why the battery is not staying charged and they told me nothing. A 19-year-old at the local AutoZone listened for five seconds and told me my alternator had a bad bearing. Now, it’s time for inspection and the check engine light wont go off, so my mechanic tells me I have to take it to Kia to have them re-flash the software because it doesnt recognize the VIN. They charged $95, told me it was fixed, but the light was still on, so I go back inside and then they tell me, oh yeah, the computer is shot and its $2,000 to fix it. My mechanic is putting a rebuilt computer in for $200. I must still take it to the dealership to be re-flashed with Kia software, so thats another $95. I feel that Kia is a cheap piece of crap, I wont buy another one, and I wont pay for their outrageously expensive maintenance.

In December 2014, I was seriously injured (including a broken back...) in a 2015 KIA SORENTO during a frontal crash because the car malfunctioned. Upon impact, none of the airbags deployed and duly filed my complaint with NHTSA. After my complaint, there were 3 others filed with the most recent being March 2016 where another person got injured because the airbag DID NOT DEPLOY. Even though the IIHS (Insurance Institute of Highway Safety) identified this problem as well as potential injuries to the driver during its SMALL OVERLAY CRASH TEST - THE MANUFACTURER (KIA) still FAILED to conduct necessary defect investigation and recall on all existing 2014/2015 KIA Sorento models that have this defect which creates and heightens the risk of potential dangerous injuries because few consumers are aware of this as NHTSA gives the 2015 KIA SORENTO a five-star rating on a test that was conducted in 2013 because both the 2014 and 2015 models were in fact, almost identical WITH minimal changes.Due to the IIHS crash test results and POOR rating the 2014/2015 KIA SORENTO models the manufacturer received, it went to address these problems by redesigning the 2016 Sorento without notifying or identifying or repairing the defects in those defective vehicles currently out in the market. IT IS ALSO EXTREMELY NEGLIGENT AND IRRESPONSIBLE OF NHTSA TO POST AN ERRONEOUS 5-STAR RATING ON A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS VEHICLE.

I loved my vehicle when I bought her, she was pre-owned but very well looked after, one of the reasons why I bought her. A couple of months after buying the vehicle, one of my tenants, who I did not know worked for a Kia dealership, came over to me and asked if she could give me a piece of good advice. Sure, I said, always open to good advice. Little did I know that the advice she gave me would turn out to be the best advice I never took. She told me to sell the Kia Sorento because it was going to give me endless trouble. Since she told me I have replaced a gear box oil seal, cylinder head gasket, radiator water bottle (took Kia month and a half to get me a replacement water bottle), 2 radiator water hoses, radiator, crankshaft pulley bolt, and most recently a thermostat, where again Kia took 6 weeks to find me a spare. Like I said, I love the vehicle, but I will never buy another Kia as long as I live.

Think twice before get a Kia. “Did you have a gun pointed to your head when you signed the lease?” This is what the General Manager a Kia Internationals in Orland told me after some argument about the whole process with this dealer and how dishonest was the process. I agreed with sales people about buying a car advertised by a price. All good until go to finance and they say, I can’t give you that deal unless you do a lease which was never the agreement. I did sign the lease with certain “assumptions” that they said yes so I would buy the car after 3 months lease and later find out that it was not like that at all. Trying to resolve the situation somehow he tells me something like that above and “I am not just gonna sit here hearing you complaining”.Guess no matter how reason you are, a place that treats you like that doesn’t deserve to get your business. As soon they make the deal they don’t give you proper customer service including Kia Usa that I tried to address and they say they can’t do anything because they are not the owners of the dealer. Never had a Kia before and will be last time after this horrible experience.Joao **

I purchased at 2012 Kia Rio with 96k Miles on it. I had a certified Mechanic Run the Codes on it. Nothing was coming up however this car still has engine issues. I search the internet and no one can explain why it sounds like a hammer and anvil going down the road. One foreign guy pointed out aluminum shavings in the oil pan and explained he measured the pistons to be too short and causing undue wear and tear. I even have a check engine light that goes on and off before I can check the reason why. As it turns out even back within 5 years from 2012 new buyers could not get this issue resolved with Kia Offical dealers. Im stuck with this car. Will the engine blow? Will it damage other components? It is impossible to know. The car is old enough people are owed a solution.

Kia Stinger GT-2 is competing well with sport type BMW and Audi vehicles for about 2/3 of the price. It is high performance throughout- high horsepower dual turbos, higher torque, five driving modes that alter engine and suspension parameters, 8-speed transmission, AWD with a 60/40 split favoring the rear wheels, deluxe Merlot leather interior, all available safety features, and a Harman Kardon 650 watt 15 speaker stereo to boot. However, road tests reveal 0-60 mph in 4 seconds or less and its speed limited to 188 mph contrary to the manufacturers numbers. Also, its three grand to replace the monitor, etc. and labor rates at dealerships are usually $120/hour or higher. Nevertheless, I love driving it and am learning the features rather quickly as they are quite intuitive and the manuals quite helpful. I opted for the extended bumper to bumper 10 year/100,000 mile warranty because of the heavy reliance on complex computer and electronic technology.

Well in May 2014 I purchased a brand new 2014 KIA Soul (27 miles) from KIA ALOHA AUTO GROUP. Also invested in their so called exterior/interior SIMONIZ glass coat protection plan that was an additional $995. So long story short it was in the evening that I took possession of my brand new 2014 KIA SOUL. All was great. I really didnt check out the exterior assuming it was a brand new 2014 vehicle. All should be good. Well upon waking the next morning getting ready to take the keikis for a cruise in our new ride of course kids are out before me and my oldest son comes inside and tells me Nice ride, mom. But is it brand new? I said Yes, you no see the paper plates? He said I do. Thats why Im asking how come get all kind surface scratches and all swirls/spider webs around the whole vehicle? So I came out and yes all kinds of surface scratches and swirls throughout the entire vehicle. So I said Well we will stop by the car lot on our way out. So we did. Manager there was so sarcastic and no customer service skills. Anyways when he came out he said Well whats wrong? I said Can you take a look at the entire exterior and tell me whats wrong? He looked and had no problems so I had to point out the swirls and scratches. He said Well did you purchase the Simoniz protection plan? I said yes, he said Then no worries. That will take everything out. Dummy me was satisfied with that answer until we were cruising and I said Wait a minute so if I never take the Simoniz plan and pay extra $995 then what? Thats the kind of exterior I going be dealing with? Hmmmmm. So I waited for appointment to do my Simoniz protection. Got the vehicle back, looked great but in 2 days swirls were back and scratches were back. So again I call manager I take vehicle to their service dept and then am told by the manager that because the vehicle is black thats normal for black vehicles. LOL are you serious? Now I brought it back to you the day after and you told me the Simoniz that I purchased would take care of it and now you telling me 2 months later that thats part of owning a black vehicle. The upkeep is hard and its normal BS... So I call ** on July 2, 2014 and another idiot on the other end, Tyrone **, been leaving him voice mails 4 times in July, spoke to him once in Sept, left several messages in early Sept throughout Oct and finally 10/27/14 he tells me he spoke to manager at car lot and he says nothing wrong but agrees that there is spider webs throughout the entire exterior of the vehicle. Anyone with similar problems can you please contact me at **. If you have a solution or have someone I can talk to for some assistance on getting the dealer to provide some kind of solution. I am thinking of taking vehicle to maybe a detail shop to see what they say. I did take it to Maaco here in Aiea but he couldnt help me said I should take it to a detail shop unless I wanted him to repaint my car then he could help me. He couldnt even tell me that thats not a common thing for brand new black vehicles.

We will never buy a Kia again. We have a 2011 Sorento and the 100,000 miles or 10 year warranty only applies to the first owner. We bought the car at 1 year old with only about 18,000 miles on it. The second owner warranty is only up to 60,000 miles. The transmission failed a little over that. I started looking and found the Kia Sorento does have a lot of transmission problems. They are fixing some of the 2-wheel drive Sorentos but as of now, not the 4-wheel drive. We took it to the dealer and was told they may do a good faith fix. Of course they came back with a NO. We had no choice but to pay $2400 to fix it. I have also read that people are on their 3rd transmission, so I can see why Kia only guarantees it for 12 months. They know it be break again, so we will sell it very soon. I find this completely unacceptable for a well kept 3 year old vehicle.

I am seeing a lot of these comment and thinking they are really over exaggerated. When you go through like 5 or 6 cars in a year or so my thought is what are you doing to each of those cars to ruin them. I bought my 2012 Kia Soul brand new with less than 12 miles on it. I had o e sensor go out about a year after I bought it and the dealership replaced it through my warranty with no issues. Other than, that it is great. Great sound, quiet, good get up and go (2.0 engine) and it fits a lot in it. If you do a lot of hauling get an suv but even with the seats up I can still get a lot in. It has 36000 miles now and still going strong. Highly recommend Kia. EVERYONE I know that has one loves it.

2013 Kia Sportage - I was driving on a parkway when the check engine, check oil and battery light came on and the engine completely seized. Thankfully I was able to pull over and not get into a possibly fatal accident with my wife in the car. I opened a case with Kia customer service. I have gotten nothing but the run around, explained that I am fully aware of the massive recall on thousands of thousands of Kias. This is exactly the issue that this recall is for and numerous reviews that Kia refuses to repair it and that they give the run around. I have filed a Better Business Bureau complaint and if need be fully plan to contact a lawyer. Repairs for a seized engine range from 3500-7000 for a new engine and I see countless reviews with the same issue with their cars and dealing with customer service.

I purchased a 2014 Kia Rio with 100 kms on the odo. I work as a service advisor at an auto shop so I knew the ins and outs of maintaining my car, had my car serviced regularly. In June 2016 my check engine light came on and heard clicking from my engine. Then clanking, then my car shut down. I had one of our mechanic to check my car and he said my engine seized. I checked Kia’s website to see if there was any recalls or issues with Kia Rios... There was a recall on 3 other models of Kia for the same issue but my car was not on the list. I called the dealership and they said there was nothing they could do for me because I was 17,000 kms past my warranty. I also called Kia’s head office and they said the same thing and tried to charge me for a new engine. Because I work at a shop I made my own arrangement and had them replace my engine with a used Kia engine with 33,000kms on it. $3,000 and a week later my car was back on the road. The mechanic was curious of the engine issue so he took it apart and saw the pistons broke (which was also the issue for the other Kias) so it’s been less than a year and with being paranoid I made sure my oil changes were done almost monthly. 38,000 kms later here we are again with another seized engine. Had an synthetic oil change done March 6th and April 6th a month to the day clicking coming from my engine. The tech checked the oil level and there was almost no oil in my engine. There was no leak... The techs think it was leaking internally. My pistons are gone yet again. I still owe $12,000 on a car that I can’t drive and Kia will not do anything about this. When I read these forums and other social outlets there are literally hundreds of complaints about these cars for mostly the same reason. I will be taking this higher and to the media if needed. Kia needs to take responsibility for building bad engines and robbing people of their money. This is unacceptable.

Returning home from Military School my Kia Niro broke down. Waited 5 hours in 6 degree weather to get my car towed on a Sunday. Closest Kia Dealer closed and no car rentals close. They offered no option. I Ubered to the airport. Got a rental to finish the remaining 7 hours of a 13 hour trip. Exhausted. Hungry. Once home began the work of what’s wrong with my car, getting the rental paid and how do I get it back. It took TWO MONTHS to get my car back. The diagnosis? Manufacturer error and no specific reasoning why my car suffered a break down no one could figure out until a technician was finally sent out to take a look. Couldn’t figure it out so just did a ‘hard reset’ and then it was fixed. No idea what the problem was though AND THEN it had physical body damage and before I drove it off the lot, called Mr. Charles ** (case representative) to figure out how to rectify this. Said there’s nothing he can do. His job is to reunite me with the car not the quality of service done on the vehicle. I am abhorred with how I’ve been treated every step of the way. The reliability of KIA CONSUMER OVERALL is not even worth 1 star. My car is not reliable and neither is Kia’s customer service. Save yourself the two months of heartache I just went through and hundreds of dollars out of pocket I won’t be reimbursed.

This complaint is specific to Kia Motors Egypt. The vehicle, a 2010 model Cerato, rolled over 4 times and the airbags failed to deploy. The real tire on the passenger side burst, causing the above to occur. Kias website states the following: Ceratos standard safety protection includes dual front and side airbags, plus full length side curtain airbags to enhance the safety of driver and passenger side occupants in the event of a side impact or rollover. A Kia employee, whose name I shall not reveal, stated the following in a response: Kindly be informed that referring to your accident description and the photos you sent, the car rolled over without front impact. The front airbag system doesnt work in rollover accidents as you mentioned. The front airbag system was designed to work in the frontal accidents depending on the front impact circumstances. Kindly refer to the owners manual for non-working cases of front airbag system.

I had made mention to the sales manager, Nick **, after I had purchased my KIA Soul (2013) new(!) that I had this rough idling when I am at a stop light and/or a stop sign. I was told to make an appointment with their Service Dept. which I did on Jan. 10th. At first, I was told they couldnt find the issue (just idling, not in gear), but I explained to them they need to be in gear, drive it, and at a light - this would follow in just a minute. They did say that it did do this, and did a diagnosis to see if they could pinpoint the issue. But having to see what KIA would come back with, Bert who did this, the Dealership Crown KIA Service Dept told Matt who contacted me, that this was a normal operation for this type of engine? And now, nothing, it seems to be direct on how this was going to end or follow up for a fix and/or repair? Case # is ** and the contact person Ive been dealing with is Melinda. The dealership now tells me there is nothing to do or repair according to KIA manufacturer. Ive driven other Souls at other dealership, and they dont do this? Im just asking to have this fixed, as this is not the way the car should run.

My rotors have been pulsating since about week one of ownership. I have contacted Kia corporate twice with no help and even contacted the company that is supposed to ship it with no help. No one at the dealership or at Kia has any definitive info on this program. Buyers of the EV 6 are left with being able to charge their cars at home. It’s an egregious process and someone at Kia needs to step up and give customers valid information.

The car has had a lot of issues. Ive had to replace a lot of parts on it. The car is cheap. The frame is cheap. The parts are cheap but I dont like a car that breaks all the time. I appreciate it more when my car is more convenient not a car from Korea where the parts have to be specially ordered and waited for. The Kia Spectra 2007 handles well though in spite of its flaws. It is small and practical. I like the 4 doors. I like the fact that the seats are cloth and not leather so I dont get burned every time I sit down after a long hot day of the car just sitting in the sun. But I wish I would have done more research before buying this car.

I have owned 3 Kias in the last 10 years (2 Optimas and a Forte) and I will never purchase again. Each one is worst than the last. Very cheaply made, and the warranty is a joke. Roadside assistance use to be better, but in the last 3 years has rapidly declined (again, if these cars were better made you wouldnt really need roadside assistance on a new vehicle.) The last time I called, I needed a battery jump (this car is only 2 years old by the way) and they told me they were unable to find anyone to come out. But I could pay $245 and possibly be reimbursed. What?! I live in a major city in Florida and they couldnt find one person to jump my battery??? Thank God I was at home, otherwise I could have been stranded on a highway somewhere. Believe me they couldnt care less. Save yourself the frustration, buy another brand -ANY other brand, and if you are stuck with a Kia, get AAA. For $106/year its worth not dealing with these people.

I bought a new 2012 Kia Sorento V6 a few months ago. The next morning at start up, the engine was very noisy. I found that when it sat for about an hour, the timing chain raps for about 5-10 seconds, very loud. I brought it back. They said they cant do anything, its normal. Well, thats just not true. No engine raps are normal. I contacted Kia company, went back and forth. Finally, I got a letter from them and they told me, too bad, feel free to sue us; we will not fix the engine.

In 2010, I brought a new Kia Forte koup. I love my car. I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM OUT OF THAT CAR. But I broke my back and could not do the low cars getting in and out of them. So I went to Kia and traded on 11-2-13 for a 2014 Kia Sorento. Well, things went down hill. 1st week, had to go back and they had to do a 4 wheel alignment. Then the door handle fell apart. Went back, had that put on, then it fell apart again. The back doors had a gap in them were you could put half your hand in them. Well, after going back every Saturday for 6 weeks, GM had me come in to change car out. But every 2014 Sorento on the lot had same problems. Then I traded for a 2013 Kia Soul. Up till now, no problem till yesterday. When am going down road and a piece of my car comes off and almost hit 2 other cars. So I have had to send this morning at the dealer again. If it was not for service lady where I go, I would have already went crazy on people. I WILL NEVER EVER BUY OTHER KIA AGAIN WHEN I TRADE THIS ONE IN!!!!!! !

I took my Soul to Kia due to a screeching noise in the front while braking thinking there may be a stone stuck in the pad. Come to find out the rotors had rusted in the front only to the point that they were pitted. I bought the car a few months prior from an independent dealer and the Kia dealer said that the car must have sat for a while but they were not sure. Thus is just conjecture on their part. They said the rotors were not covered because the warranty does not cover rust. They recommended that I call Kia corporate and see if they will make an exception. I called and was treated poorly by Robin, a supervisor, but after an exercise in patience she agreed to escalate the issue to the district service manager. It has been 3 working days and I am still waiting to hear back from them. I had to take it back so they could get pictures of the rotors over the weekend. The funny thing is that rotors on the rear are fine which makes no sense unless poor rotor quality or substandard design with the front brake system. The service department says that the district service manager will likely approve it but it can take another day or two and it will take more time to get the parts in. Meanwhile I am driving a car that the front brakes sound terrible and I feel unsafe driving. Very poor customer service and quality.

I brought my daughters ‘14 Sorento to Kia Coral Springs 5/30 for regular service as well as an evaluation of a serious situation relative to the paint peeling off several areas of the car not affected by road stones or anything other than a factory defect. I brought it first to a paint and body shop and was told in 2 minutes to bring it to Kia consumer affairs. It was in his expert opinion, clearly a factory defect issue. There were photos taken at the dealership and passed on to the local Kia representative responsible for evaluating any type of bodywork. I just heard from Kia corporate consumer affairs and because the warranty expired, regardless what caused the problem, it’s the owners responsibility. I have a friend who had the exact same situation last year with a Nissan product...also expired warranty and also a factory defect causing the paint to peel. They repainted the car and now have a loyal Nissan customer for life.As a result, I will have her car painted and promptly trade it in for anything other than another Kia product. I will share this story of a very short-sighted company with anyone contemplating the purchase of a Kia in the future. The reverse would have been true if this company was more open minded and interested in promoting goodwill. Their fault, but easy way out was turn a blind eye to what’s right and hide behind “their” warranty protection. Kia, one and done!

My elderly grandparents KIA Rondo just threw the connecting rods at 123,000 kms. Garage said its the 7th KIA they have had in within a year with similar low kilometer shot engines. Contacted KIA customer relations to see if this is a known flaw and all they had to say (paraphrased) was you had a warranty for 100,000 kms, so we fulfilled our obligations. Has anyone else had a car that was essentially useless after only 120,000 kms? Looks like I am headed back to the domestics, I cant fathom wasting money on a new car that will be useless that fast.

I purchased a new 2015 Kia Soul on August 21, 2015. I immediately noticed chips in my paint from normal driving conditions such as pebbles hitting the front. At my first oil change I told the service shop about it. Their response was A water based paint was used on this model of the Soul. There is nothing we can do to fix the paint issue. They then sold me a freaking marker to color over the chips. The problem is these chips went all the way through the paint layers and you can see indentations when they are colored with the marker and every week I find more paint chips. I had a 2013 Soul and I loved it and I never had a problem with the paint.

So I bought a car back in 2014. I was happy, after years of looking for wheels, I got some! It was a 2012 Kia Rio for 12000. I didnt want a car but the salesmen said that I could get a car and in 6 months come back and get a truck I wanted at a lower payment. So in 6 months I came to find out it doesnt work like that. So Im stuck paying 371 for a car I didnt want. Well 2 years down the road, I hit hard times. I lost my house and it was just mayhem. I tried talking to them and they said they would give me an extension after paying 2 months for a 2 month extension. So I borrowed the money and called back when they told me to. All I got was a robot who would hang up if I ever asked for a person. This would go on for a couple of months of doing the same thing. Then they gave me a consultant who wanted to help. Heres another two months I again borrowed for the last time I could. He said call back in a week. Call him he said.I did with the number he gave me when he told me to call. When I talked to him he acted like he didnt know me and directed me to someone else. There was nothing to do. 5 months in and they told me that I either needed to give them 2 months for an extension or they will take it. I said I cant pay. They said its registered as a stolen vehicle. I told them where to get it they said my address doesnt exist. I told them I brought it to my job. They said they were going to get it with the police. Still sitting there for 2 weeks now. Do not trust Kia. They will take your money and never help you. Be very warned.

I bought my in July 2018. Have taken the car to the Kia dealerships 6 times and to no avail. They will not fix the car because they say on the computer that they hook it up to cannot find anything wrong. The weekend that I bought it I immediately called them to let them know what was happening. When you put the car on ECO after 10 miles it starts to move to the 3/4 mark on the gauge, there is a ton of white smoke out of the exhaust and smells of gas, also the sticker on the car says 24/28/36. I get 13 miles to the gallon in town and Lexington, Ky is not that big which I get at the highest is 322 miles per tank, also they come with an 18.5 gallon tank but on empty with the light on I get 13.5 gallons per fill up. They have told me, There is 5 gallons in reserve and also youre not going to see a big difference until the 10,000 mile mark, which we all know is pure crap. Do not ever buy a Kia. It would not let me give it zero stars.

My car has been intermittently cutting off. The last incident was on Monday morning, it would not start - even though all the functions came on. Car had to be towed to the Dealer. Dealer confirmed that the car was NOT starting, and it was reverting to the default setting/test setting or something like that. They were looking into it. Well - they did not give me a loaner vehicle - even after repeated request, and the Customer Complaint service informed me that I need to secure transportation on my own and that he too has to do so for his own CHEVY.. talk about customer service that SUCKS!!Well, it is Day 3 - no calls from KIA to me, I am the one who has been checking on the status of my vehicle daily. The KIA rep supposedly came out yesterday but because they are not able to duplicate the error - they are unable to assist. So the bottom line, from the Complaints service Rep that I just spoke with is - Take the car, since it starts now... but we cannot guarantee it will not do the same thing. Also, Ive found online complaints where the KIA has just cut out while driving. This horrifies me, since I have young children and we have long commutes. I need some help, please.

Since we bought the 2003 Kia Rio, we experienced electrical shorts in the HVAC controls, especially in the motor fan control – it burned out. I was told the electrical harness was not on recall and not covered after 12,000 miles.Since they wanted more than $600 for the switch, I fixed it myself. The motor switch has burned up three times. This last time, the harness melted at the switch. It should have a motor resistor but this model does not have one or offer one according to the dealer. Many other Kia owners claim they have had the same problem. Many, fearing for their lives (the car catching on fire) and getting the runaround from Kia, have gotten rid of the car and have sworn never to buy another KIA. I firmly believe a recall on this model is in order, it could save lives. A class action law suit is way overdue.

This is the first brand new car I ever bought. I bought it because I was sick of always having to fix my used car. I wrongly assumed I would not have this problem with a new car. I bought it in October. The acceleration sticks on gear change, but I didnt want to spend my life in the shop (again) so I deal with it. When summer hit, I found out the AC didnt work. I scheduled a service time. The guy on the phone was a bit rude but I chalked it up to him probably having a bad day. They dye the AC and tell me to come back in a week. Its still blowing cold, but I bring it back as requested. They cannot find the issue, so they send me on my way. Two weeks later, its blowing hot air again. I have to go back. This time they tell me the hose is broken and replace it. It took them 3 days to replace a single hose. While I am grateful I received a car to drive in the meantime, it was the most disgusting pile of garbage I had ever had the displeasure of driving. Whoever had previously owned this vehicle did not in any way take care of it. After day 3 of calling and waiting for the car to be fixed, I drove over to the dealership after work and vowed to wait until they took care of it, regardless how long it took. I walked in and they asked if I was there to pick up my car. They never bothered to call me.Today I had a flat tire. No spare in the trunk, which I had foolishly thought would be standard for every vehicle. I called the dealership and was told to call roadside assistance, which was free. Okay, fair enough, but if the tire cant be fixed, I cant afford to buy a new one right now, so I dont know if thats a good idea. I was blown off (same guy as earlier, still rude so obviously not just a bad day thing) and told to just call roadside assistance and go from there. I was also told that tires were not covered under the warranty, which was the only question he bothered to answer. Of course they arent. In all, because I did not have a spare tire, it took me 6 hours and a total loss of days wages to get a flat tire fixed, and surprise! Its covered under warranty. So not only was the guy rude, but he lied to me too. I have become more acquainted with the service staff at Kia in the last 9 months than I was with my mechanic in the last two years of my used car. I bought a new car to avoid that.I am very dissatisfied with Kia and their customer service. I requested a manager when I got there, to discuss the issue of the rude representative, and he never once showed his face in the time I was waiting for my car to be fixed. Because of that, I came here to post a public review instead of keeping the issue between me and the manager.

Engine recall with a 3 - 5 month wait according to Fucillo Kia. My first issue with my 2017 Kia Sorento was on 9/18/18 when my A/C stopped working and the engine overheated. I brought the vehicle to my dealer. I was informed the head gasket needed to be replaced. It was fine for four months until 1/18/19 when the heater stopped working. I took it to my dealer and then they determined that I needed a new engine. I later found out by the technicians at my dealership that they had 40 vehicles of different models needed new engines. They told me that Hyundai is having the same problems. They had no loaner cars for me so I was drivien to a Hertz rental up the road by a dealer rep. The dealer said the policy of Kia motors allowed to drive the smallest car Hertz had on their lot. It was a Nissan Accent which is smallest car Nissan makes. So basically I’m paying $395 a month for an All Wheel Drive SUV and I get a vehicle that isn’t even close something comparable to what I’m leasing. I’m also in the last year of the lease and I won’t have my car for 3 - 5 months. The dealer won’t let me out of the lease but I have to keep paying for it! I was towed out of my own driveway with only 2 inches of snow on the ground. I’ve filed a consumer Fraud case with the NYS Attorney General’s Office. Nobody at the dealer will help me and the Consumer Affairs Dept at Kia Motors will help either. I’m so disgusted and frustrated. I will never recommend a Kia or Hyundai again.

In March of 2012, I purchased a new 2012 Kia Rio. Not long after having it, the radio would not read CDs. I had it in the dealer service department several times, and I would still have the same problem. The dealer finally decided to replace the radio with a re-manufactured one. The refurbished one that was put in was even worse than the original one. It would freeze up, go out, and do things without me touching it. Also, I would lose control of it, and it would even stay on after the car was shut off, key taken out of ignition, and car locked. I took it to another dealer to have them look at it. And after a long period of time of having problems with it, it was replaced again with yet another refurbished one. It worked okay for a while, and now all of a sudden, when turned on, there is no sound. There is no sound whatsoever when I run the volume knob up and down. I am fed up with Kia for their products and service! I will never buy another Kia! I am in the process of filing a lemon law claim with the BBB. They should buy this vehicle back after countless sorry attempts to fix the problem and Im still having trouble out of it!

In January 2008, I bought a 2007 KIA Spectra from Kia Brampton, with a 5-year or 100,000-km. warranty. All went well until December 26, 2012 when the vehicle was at 99,950 km. The oil light started to come on and off. It was towed to KIA Brampton where they declared the vehicle okay but proceeded to empty the oil and place clean oil therein. I was told to return the vehicle every week for check up which I did every week until March when KIA finally confirmed that the vehicle did have problem. Then they told me they will contact me after they get in touch with KIA Canada. In March, they took in the vehicle and claimed to change the rings, which they assumed was the problem. However, within two weeks, the same problem resurfaced and I took back the vehicle to KIA Brampton. The car was checked and we were told by the Service Manager that the change of the ring was a goodwill gesture and the warranty has expired and in general, when vehicles reach the end of the warranty, KIA seems to think that people want to con them to recondition the engine and hence they would not be able to help us. KIA Brampton recommended that we contact KIA Canada re the problem.I contacted KIA Canada about the problem and was told by the Customer Service representative, Malia, on May 24, 2013 that the KIA could not assist me because the vehicle has passed its warranty period. I refuted this of course on the basis that the problem with the vehicle was detected before the warranty period expired. I asked to speak to a supervisor and after being put on hold for 15 minutes, I was told that the Supervisor was busy and but will contact me within 24 hours. On Wednesday, May 29, 2013, I finally received a call from a Sandy from KIA Canada about the matter. I again requested that KIA honor the warranty and fix the vehicle. Sandy said she had nothing to add to what Malia told me because KIA Brampton fixed the problem in March based on their diagnosis and now that the car is over the warranty period, KIA is not responsible for any repairs.

My wife and I always bought Honda or Toyota vehicles but this time we decided to step out and give Kia a try. We spent time reviewing Kia Souls online and with people we knew owned them. And then we took the plunge and bought two. From the very first week we had problems. My wife could not get hers to start. We took it in three times and the manager over Kia side said You have to apply the break in Kias to start the vehicle. But I showed him in mine that it started just fine without applying the brake. Both Souls did not run right. They ran ragged and slow. It seemed to me that the direct fuel injected motor was not sync with the transmission. Our headlights would come on for no reason. My tire light would kick on but no tires were low and it would go off. The dash lights would dim in and out for no reason. The rain would leak in from poor sealant around windows. My brakes would lock with massive pressure for no reason. Each time we would go to dealer that would claim it was normal or could not duplicate the problem. After one month we were done! We traded them both in on two Toyotas. We had to go to 72 months to cover the loss on both Kias. Listen to me please!!! Listen!!! Look!!! Hear me!!! Kias are still junk! Do not buy one! The warranty is a sham to suck you in and make you into a sucker!!! This company should be forced out of business! They spend money on trying to improve their image but not on true research and quality!!! They make the outside and inside of their vehicles very appealing but the engine and components and electronics are still very bad!!! Please listen!!! Dont do it!!! I know you are reading this right now because you are diligent! Listen to me buyer! Dont buy a Kia!!!

Nothing but harassment and terrible customer service. We purchased the Kia
Nothing but harassment and terrible customer service. We purchased the Kia Soul in 2011. We love the car and havent really had any problems with it at all. Our nightmare comes from Kia Motors Finance. After being laid off of a job we had to survive on my wifes check. She has recently had knee replacement surgery putting her out of work and reducing our income to that of a disability check. Needless to say, it has become a struggle to make ends meet from month to month and our payments have suffered. Kia claims they are willing to work with us on the matter but by that they mean constant harassing phone calls demanding money. After finally getting another job, we are able to start working on catching up on our payments. However, we woke this morning to discover our car is gone.Time and time again I have tried to explain our situation to Kia Motors Finance. Time and time again it seems my words have fallen on deaf ears. The only work with you method these people know is the constant barrage of phone calls (several calls a day) asking when we can send payments and even more ridiculous, how much we can send. Even after managing to send a total of $700.00, we continued getting these calls. The associates are rude and unwilling to actually help anyone. They speak to customers with the attitude that we are being a bother to them or they have something better to do than talk to you about your situation. My intent to send another $550.00 payment has come to a halt with the disappearance of our car. If someone isnt actually willing to work with us and I lose my job because of no transportation, Kia will not see another penny of my money which is of no consequence to them being a multi-million dollar company. My late payments are not going to send these people spiraling into bankruptcy. After this car gets paid off I will never buy another Kia again or recommend it to a friend not because of the quality of the car, which is excellent, but because of the poor quality of customer service at the finance department. They need to re-think their methods of customer service or re-train their representatives whose lack of compassion and inability to listen to their customers is a large, oozing stain on their reputation.

Kia has fluffed up their look but their quality is still crap. Ive had my car in for service 8 times in 16 months. I bought my Kia Niro brand new and started having problems within less than 5 months of ownership. Im suing Kia to buy it back as a lemon. They dont communicate at all. They are not helpful and try to draw out the process as long as possible. Ive lost countless hours... even months at a time bringing this car into being repaired. 5 of the issues are repeat of the same thing. There was another reoccurring defect that took a couple repair attempts to get corrected. Parts on back order take a month to get. Techs at the dealership have talked to Kia techs at corporate and no one knows how to fix the car. The 5 reoccurring repair issue is still an ongoing issue because Kia doesnt know whats wrong. My transmission has already started to fault. My car almost stalled once after 5 months of ownership and the most recent issue is that it wont accelerate or shift into the next gear. Huge safety issues! Ill probably get into an accident but Kia is in no hurry to address any of that.

Below is a letter I sent to the KIA corporation on behalf of my father.Good day, my name is Brent ** and Im currently deployed to Afghanistan. Last year, my father purchased a brand new Kia Sorento from Shottenkirk in West Burlington, Iowa in 2010. He has a home in Burlington, Iowa but due to his job, he works in Maryland so as you can imagine he travels frequently between the states to see family. The first time my dad showed me his new Kia Sorento, he was extremely happy with his purchase as was I for reliability and safety options that came with the vehicle. Ive been reading numerous reviews regarding the Kia brand, so I felt extremely comfortable about my fathers new purchase. Being deployed, Ive had time to review different vehicles for myself when I return home from deployment. I have seen and driven the Kia Sorento and I consider it to be one Im seriously considering on purchasing. I like the design, power and third row seating with all the luxury amenities that come with the Sorento. Ive mentioned this to fellow co-workers deployed with me who are also looking for a vehicle when they return back home and Ive been able to sway them to consider the Kia Sorento as well.In early September, my father was driving home from Maryland back to Iowa. The vehicle stopped working, there was a problem with the engine thus leaving my father stranded at night. He had to call a tow truck that took him and the vehicle to the nearest Kia dealer, Coughlin Kia of Newark, Ohio, 43055. There my father was provided an Enterprise rental car to continue his 550 mile trip back to Burlington, Iowa. That week he needed to head back to Maryland to go back to work. Unfortunately, his vehicle was not fixed so he could not pick it up on the way to Maryland. During the week, my father had to drive 400 miles to pick up his vehicle and pay for the rental car.As an Acura owner, I too had a problem with my transmission around 55,000miles and the vehicle was about 4 years old at the time. My Acura required a new transmission. The Acura dealership provided me with one of their vehicles while mine was being fixed until I was ready to pick-up. There was no charge for a rental car and the service I was given by Acura was top notch.I dont want to discredit the Kia brand based on the service provided by the Kia dealerships my dad interacted with. Im disappointed to hear that Coughlin Kia of Newark did not compensate my father for the entire rental vehicle knowing my father had to drive hundreds of miles to pick it up then back again. My father informed Shottenkirk in West Burlington, IA - where he purchased the new vehicle. Shottenkirk didnt try to mitigate the situation or help compensate him for the rental vehicle. My father did not ask for gas or per dime for his troubles as I would have. He just asked for full reimbursement for a rental vehicle and was denied.I believe this type of treatment of your new Kia vehicle owners will destroy the brand. I believe you have a great product that may need refinement. However, with the treatment of your Kia customers I find it extremely disturbing as a brand. Can this please be rectified with my father as soon as possible? I dont care if one of the mentioned dealerships listed above or Kia company itself reimburses my father for the rental car but that would be the least any of you could do.Update Dec 2011. Kia denied to reimburse my father the full claim for a vehicle rental which was less than $200.00.

I purchased my 2013 in February 2013. As of today, my car has died/stalled out on me when I am driving it!!! I am beyond frustrated. Ive taken it to the dealer 2 times now and all they can tell me is that they cant replicate the problem and there are no computer updates/recalls. This is a HUGE safety concern, especially when I am driving and have my children in the car. The car dies when I am going 10-15 miles an hour. I dont know what else I can do.

I have had it examined and nobody seems to understand why. I cannot drive the car farther than 50k as I do not trust it. I contacted Kia but they told me I am on my own.

I am a dissatisfied owner of a 2014 Kia Soul. July 4, 2015 I purchased a used 2014 Kia Soul with 4200 miles on it. June 2017 the engine blew up with 62261 miles on it. At this time I found out that there is NOT a 100000-mile powertrain warranty because I am the second owner. They dont tell you that when you buy it. I contacted Kia warranty service to submit my claim. Long story short, Kia not covering engine replacement because it is out of second owner power train warranty. I Had to pay to install a new long block engine into the Soul at the Kia dealership. $4322.00 for the engine and installation. Kia could not tell me what the mileage was when the Soul went into Service but only the date. According to Kia warranty, the second owner is 5 year 60,000 mile warranty from day and current mileage. So if my Soul had 2262 miles on it when it went into service, then my warranty would be to 62262 miles. Kia did not want to even talk about this. Just basically said, Sorry for your bad luck. Next I was told to file an complaint and I will be doing just that. It was determined at the dealership the failure was due to a blown head gasket which in turn allowed engine coolant to get into the #2 cylinder which caused the engine to lock up. Also the engine was free of any oil sludge and nothing was found to be neglected as far as maintenance. An engine head gasket should not blow on a well-maintained engine. Funny thing at the dealership when my engine arrived from their distribution center, I was told I was 4th in line to have an engine installed. Gee. Sounds like Kia has an engine failure problem. Guess they are not paying for anyones repairs!!! Poor customer satisfaction. Oh and Scott who I spoke with from Kia about the warranty, if you read this, this is not the way life is, consumers should not have to worry about their engine failing and be without a ride to work for 6 weeks and have to deal with arrogant warranty customer service person. My son has a Nissan with 145000 miles and it has only been to dealership for regular scheduled maintenance. Guess I will need to trade this Kia on a Nissan.

Kia Sorento - My family and I have almost died numerous times due to gas flow being shut off to engine... nothing like switching lanes on interstate and all power just gone in three lanes of heavy traffic. Had problem fixed $2600 for a sensor. Less than a year later starts cutting power again. Dealership tells us there is nothing wrong and now here we are, thank God, the semis missed us. Back at dealership for same part... Thanks, Kia.

In August 2010, I bought a Sorento and a Cadenza, the former was for my wife. On July 3, my wife got involved in a car accident and the insurance company of the other driver is paying up for the damages (he was at fault). I drove the car to the Kia official garage in Salwa on the same day (after completing all formalities). The car suffered damage to both doors on the right and all side airbags opened, plus the drivers seat belt damaged. Well, it is September 13th and the car is still at the garage. Every time I call, they are still ordering parts. Either they are lying or they are totally incompetent. I talked to the manager yesterday. He was very apologetic and said he will call the repair center and come back to me immediately. I am still waiting. The car has clicked 9000km and should have been replaced as it is brand new. I am now planning to get rid of both cars and buy something different (the cars are good but the service is shameful).

I bought a Kia Rio 2010. It only had 50,000 km on it. It was a standard and the first month I bought it, the entire transmission had to be replaced. Then the radio would stop working or my lights would not turn off. My brakes made a screeching sound since day one. Then on September 2nd, 2013, I had a car accident and rear ended a truck and totaled my car. Not one air bag imploded and as a result, I had a concoction and lost consciousness. Not one lawyer in Toronto wants to take my case and Kia has done nothing to help me out or the car insurance.

Recently our daughter left the overhead and parking lights on overnight, draining the battery. Normally that would not have been a big deal. However, the car was parked in a carport and COULD NOT be moved out of it to get a jump start because the car could NOT be taken out of Park into Neutral!!! It took about a dozen calls to find a service station that had a portable jump system to come out and get the 2014 Kia Sorento started, causing my wife to miss a doctors appointment.

KIA has stated that everything refers back to the Owners Manual for everything. However when you buy a vehicle brand new an individual is not given a copy of the owners manual to read prior to buying the vehicle. In trying to get my blown motor covered by the warranty, I have found out that if you do your own oil changes a person is supposed to keep all of their receipts and put them in the manual. Not all people are of the personality to keep all receipts so this is not an excuse for them to deny the coverage of the warranty. I took the vehicle into the dealership because it had a problem in Feb. and they said it was low on oil at that time and that was the problem. Only a vehicle with 28K miles should not be low on oil when the last oil change happened at 24,830. Now at 33K the engine is blown and KIA is refusing to honor the warranty because they are saying it was a lack of maintenance.

This review is specific to Kias roadside service. Ive been very happy with my Kia vehicle. When I found myself needing a tow on a weekend night, Triple A phone wait times were 30+ minutes, but Kias roadside service responded right away. Apparently my policy had expired, but I said that I was willing to pay so that we could expedite this process and get me to a shop before it closed. At this time it was a bit before 7pm and the service center closed at 9pm, so I figured this wouldnt be a problem. Oh, how young and naive I was.First of all, after I hung up the phone with the representative, it took over an hour for some reason just for the Kia dispatch service to connect me with a towing service. I contacted an agent twice through the online chat system during this time and was both times given some generic message about how theyre working as fast as they can and your service is very important to us. Id like to add that Im in a major city, so its not like theres a shortage of tow companies around. THEN when they finally assigned me a tow company, I was told that my ETA for the tow truck to arrive was 45-60 minutes. Well, wouldnt you know it -- an hour goes by, and still no tow truck. This time I reach out to the tow truck company directly. He tells me that the driver got tied up with other tows but is now -- only just now! -- on his way over to me. Another hour goes by. Still no tow truck. Seattles big, but not that big. At this point the Kia service center is very, very closed. It takes another half hour just for the tow truck to arrive. During this time, Kia roadside assistance checks in a couple times -- once through a phone representative, and twice by text -- but each time when I tell them the tow truck still hasnt arrived, all they do is offer banal apologies and tell me my service matters. I understand that Kia roadside assistance only had so much control over the terrible tow truck company I was assigned. However, ultimately I ended up waiting over three and a half hours just for a simple tow job -- in the dark, by myself, in a part of town I didnt know well -- and Kia did nothing to help with this aside from offer meaningless phrases. No apology discount on service at their center, no attempt to find a faster tow service, nothing. Ill just stick with triple A next time; despite the initial long wait to speak with an agent, Ive never had such a ridiculous experience actually getting service from them.

My 2013 KIA Souls clutch blew up at 11,000 miles after purchase. KIAs service department located at Temecula, CA said the warranty does not cover the Clutch because it is a worn item. So I paid the $1,544 for a new one. The replacement clutch grinds in first gear after just 2,000 miles. A friend, who happens to be a top notch auto mechanic, said it has a bad release or throw-out bearing. I can get by with this problem if I use unorthodox methods for shifting in/out of first gear. A mechanic for KIA said the clutches were built to last for 40,000 miles prior to recommended replacement.I contacted the Lawfirm McCuneWright, LLP and they may be interested in a class action lawsuit. They have sued and won huge lawsuits against Hyundia/KIA in the past. I noted there were 1,360 complaints against the clutch, alone (from forums, blogs). Forcing Hyundia/KIA to recall all KIAs/Hyundias from 2010 to 2015 and refunding the clients money would bankrupt them. I have a legal career of approximately 35 years. Hope my experience helps somebody.

Well... while on vacation June 20, 2017, my Kia Soul+ seized on the freeway while going 65 mph!!! Lucky for me and my family, the freeway was fairly empty. Had it towed to a nearby Kia Dealer. They determined it was the same problem that all the cars on the recall list were having. So they gave me a rental and sent me on my way. Its been three weeks and still no answer as to when my car will be fixed. I live 600 miles away from where my car is at! I cant believe that in the past 6 years Kia hasnt resolved this issue with the engine!! Ill be trading in my Kia for something else! This is unacceptable!

My Kia Optima that my son bought brand new in 2013 only has 45,000 miles. I co-signed for it. He is 27 years old and raises his want 4-year-old son, living check to check. Today they told me they want $8,000 dollars for new motor. They want 9 receipts for oil changes. He took it to Gateway Kia where he bought it in September 2013 to get inspected. Previously he took it to Jiffy Lube for oil changes. Everything was great with inspection with Kia & they changed oil also. Its a far ride for him to take it there so he went to Jiffy Lube 2 more times. He has receipt from Jiffy Lube from September 2015 that we just looked at closely last night and noticed they put wrong oil in the car.I dont know if this caused it but they dont care. They want 9 receipts. 1 receipt for every 5,000 miles. He still had 3 more years to make $500. Payments. He doesnt have 9 receipts. He is going to lose his job cause he needs his car. Its day before holidays & our lives feel like they were turned upside down. He cant afford to get motor. Have no idea what to do. Kia just says the car was neglected. Its not fair! I cant stop crying! I am his mother. How can this happen to a car this new! I cant even talk about it anymore cause I feel sick.

2016 Kia Soul. I purchased this car in Oct 2015 with 8 miles on it. I was so happy to have a new dependable car or so I thought. Less than 100 miles in the AC had a terrible stench and there was a noise in the rear suspension, axle when going over bumps. I was told the problem could not be replicated and maybe the car just needed a break in period and me being a woman with a life threatening illness I was like OK. See with Lupus I have to be careful not to get stressed out as that irritates my condition and furthermore I had just had a bout with almost dying from lupus complications and the last thing I wanted was to be upset or frustrated. So due to this I take everything lightly. My biggest mistake!!! 2yrs later those 2 problems are still there and far worse than before and now I have since acquired more issues with my Kia Soul. Mind you there is only 10300 miles on the odometer in roughly 25 months of ownership. So here are the new issues, 3 recalls in 1st yr, rattling in rear around back door, a stalling or dragging in engine when I press the window buttons up or down, absolutely poor gas mileage, car jerks forward when Im at a stoplight or stop sign while my foot is on the brake, grinding noise when braking like there is no brake pad left when clearly there is, very poor quality craftsmanship with the interior, road noise is awful and Bluetooth and hands free calling work intermittently. I am so disappointed in every aspect of my purchase and ownership of this Kia Soul and I wish I had not purchased this piece of junk. Im waiting on Kia to call me back as my case got escalated to whomever, not sure what that means but Ill wait and see if they are willing to stand by their product. As of right now I would not recommend anyone buy anything from Kia. Not even a free muffin or donut. I put $5000 down on this car and now Ill lose all of that plus 2 yrs of payments if I decided to sell. What a mess, everything about this purchase from the start was a red flag. I should have walked away but I needed a car to get me back and forth to my doctors appts as I was literally fighting to stay alive and believe it or not Im still in the fight of my life as doctors can not get my lupus under control and my health is more down than up, but Im hoping that I will not have to fight with Kia to make this right. All I can do now is put my faith and trust in God, let go and allow for him to work for me. My advice to all potential car buyers is steer clear of Kia until they iron out the kinks and stop lying about gas mileage or their supposed JD power awards. This car is just not worth what I paid for it and the problems scare me into thinking this vehicle may let me down during one of my lupus episodes and my life will be at risk due to all the problems. If I could turn back the hands of time, I would drive right past the Kia lot. Dont make the same mistake I did, run in the opposite direction of Kia and keep running, dont slow down. Dont stop and dont look back.

I purchased a Kia Optima in 2016. It constantly had issues. The main one being that the air conditioner did not work although I took it to the dealer four times! I purchased the car on a cool October day. Unfortunately, I did not realize that the air was not cooling. It would only blow the temperature outside. Late March rolls around and I discover the issue. The first time I took it to the dealer, they added freon and sent it right back out. Thirty minutes later, the A/C was not working again. I called and was told that it must have been the transmission temperature sensor. I took it to another dealer and they said theres no way it would be that. The second dealer got it to work for maybe two days and then it was out again. Took it back to them, then it worked for like a week. When I took it back the third time they said It must be the whole AC control on the dashboard. The representative told me the KIA dealership in GA had to call KIA in California, and they told them to try that, but they were stumped on what the issue was. That was going to be another $500 on top of the other repairs I had already paid for. I took it to a private mechanic who specializes in wiring/computers of cars. He got the A/C working for about two months - lasted through the end of summer. Spring rolls around the following year... same AC issue. With all of the money Ive pumped into getting the air fixed... I essentially went without air conditioning in THE SOUTH... ATLANTA, GA from the time I purchased the car in 2016 to 2021. Also, the engine light was always on because of a faulty wire or sensor. In GA you have to get an emissions test to renew your tag. For some reason every time my tag was up for renewal... the engine light would come on shortly before. I will never buy a KIA again.

I bought my car brand new in March of 2011 from Phil Smith Kia in Lighthous
I bought my car brand new in March of 2011 from Phil Smith Kia in Lighthouse Point Florida. It was one of the newer models of the Kia Soul, shadow black. A couple months after buying the car I noticed that the tire pressure light was constantly on. I ask on my next oil change and of course they said it just needed air, but boy were they wrong. I wish I knew right then to declare my car a lemon under Florida State Law. Months went by and the issue still persisted. I was still told to ignore it, that when I came there they would just reset it and it would stop. Two years later in 2013 while driving in the middle of the night, all the indicator lights starting going off in my car simultaneously and the car shut down. It would not restart! 2 years old less than 20,000 miles! I had it towed backed to Phil Smith Kia. They said a module had to be ordered for my car. They ordered it, the manager Mihai left and all of a sudden it was never ordered and of course they didnt see what the problem was. Nothing was showing up when they run test. At this point Sheldon is taking care of my car. A year passed, tire pressure light still on, when all of a sudden all of the lights simultaneously again. Imagine my fear of my car shutting off again. And when I say all the lights I mean, tire pressure light, air bag light, engine light, brake light, abs light. The electric odometer wasnt working. The rpm was going up and down. It was as if my car was possessed! I immediately took it to the dealership to find out what was wrong. They say, Oh we dont show that these lights are coming on. We need proof! Hello look at your record. Ive been here a million times. They say the only light we see is your air bag, your passenger airbag needs to be replaced, come back we have to order the part. I come back (Its 2014 now). They replaced the airbag. The airbag light is still on. My car is still acting possessed. Took it back. They still claimed they couldnt find anything. Took it back again. Oh they finally find something. We have to replace your air bag module. I come back. They order the airbag module. The lights are still going off. I come back again. They told me they ordered the wrong one. Well call you when we get the right one. They get the right one and replace it. It is 2015 now. The lights are still going off. Apparently when they replaced it they didnt finish resetting everything. So now they reset everything and tell me to come back and get it. I come back to get it and they drove all of the gas out of my car. It was on E! and on top of that the lights were still going off. I was so fed up I left in anger, not knowing what to do. Two weeks later I call again - make an appointment. I find out that Sheldon is no longer with Phil Smith Kia and now Charlie the service manager will be taking care of my car and it will absolutely be fixed this time. I drop the car off on Saturday 8/1. Was told I couldnt get a shuttle home while they worked on my car, When they told me it would take all morning, (Ive gotten a shuttle home every Saturday I was there before) I had to call for a ride and received not one phone call back when I called multiple times all day! After the 5th call, Oh sorry we didnt call you. Lets just give you a rental car and you can keep your car here. Days go by no phone calls. I have to call. Once I call, Kia corporate is involved at this point. I get several apologetic phone calls saying that they will make sure everything is ok, that my car is finally fixed and they will test drive it with me. Wednesday 8/5 I leave work early to pick up my car - call the dealership to let them know Im on my way. I got to the service center at 5:40 pm due to traffic. The service center closes at 6pm. No one was there! I walk into the dealership to speak with the receptionist. She informs me that Charlie left for the day because it was SLOW!!! WTF. I left work early to come here, have been late to work have taken days of time off to come to this dealership and no one is here! I am floored. Cassandra the receptionist informs me that she has no authority to release my car. I leave, because Im obviously upset, in tears at this point. I call Kia corporate. They say that there is nothing they can do for me but report this incident and that I need to talk to a general manager. I called for the general manager and was informed that he wasnt there and that I would have to call back in the morning. Then I tried to see if anyone could release the keys to my car. No one has the authority to do this. OK THOUGH IM PISSED I WILL WAIT to get my car that will not be given to me. MY CAR! I call in the morning and speak to West ** and explain to him my entire situation over the years. All he says is that he will check on it and call me back within the hour. Surprise! No phone call. I call again and was told he wasnt even in the building anymore. I called again to speak to Charlie with no avail. At this point Im being ignored and disrespected. I finally get a call back hours later with a sorry apology from the service manager and have still not heard from West **, the general manager who said he would call me back. I had to come up with the solution. I had to beg them to drive the car to me so that I could return my rental car and not be stuck. My car has all new tires, new brakes, a new battery, a new airbag - all done recently. Long story short. I will never buy another Kia in my life and I would advise no one else to either. The way that Ive been treating is appalling. I would like to give a round of applause to Phil Smith Kia for their crappy service. Good luck to the person that buys this car because Im getting rid of it. Thank you for reading. And thank you Kia for doing absolutely nothing but giving me headaches, excuses and more gray hairs!

I have never experienced overcharges to this degree — house, other cars, etc. I contacted KIA Finance on four occasions over three months to no avail. I was promised everything from the “check’s in the mail” to “no record that no check was ever issued” to “a refund in 30 days or sooner” to a “customer complaint has been opened.” Neither CSRs or supervisors were able to make anything positive happen. My bank said it couldn’t get involved so late after the fact. Disappointed and will probably never buy a KIA again.

Kia Optima Hybrid Started on Its Own due to faulty push start. - Kia has an uncanny way of stating the same corporate line that the vehicle operates as designed when you tell them there is something wrong with the car. All one has to do is You Tube a woman who had a child in her Kia truck that took control of her and raced the car on a highway at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour. This happened for over 30 miles and they settled with her only because it was on the police cam.In my case, my Kia literally started on its own and rolled down a hill into the woods. When I called Kia to tell them what had happened, they said the same line to me as they did to that woman with the truck. When I told Kia that the same situation was shown on You Tube where a lady had a Hybrid that she recorded to start on its own. I had the same issue with my 2011 KIA SORENTO. When I went to have my vehicle checked out in April 2013, no service indicator lights were on the dashboard. I actually went in due to a knocking noise when starting it. I was told I needed a new engine due to personal negligence. This information was determined at the second KIA dealership in Highland, Indiana. The first one I went to, in Calumet City, Illinois didnt want to service my vehicle at all even though I was just under the 60,000 mile warranty. My odometer was at 59,000 miles, give or take a few miles. They told me maybe Highland can take my car. Anyway, that same day and right after they turned my car away, I drive to Highland and Im told there is oil sludge everywhere and I need a new engine. At this point Im confused because my oil light and/or engine light was not on nor have they flashed or been lit up on the dashboard ever since I owned the vehicle. The mechanic at Highland was saying I never got my oil changed and even bad mouthed my husband when I said I didnt drive it often enough to know what was being done to my car.Anyhow, my husband and I can confirm that the oil has been changed. However, the auto shop we frequently use can only provide 1 year worth of receipts. The cars been sitting for about 8 months now. We could hear it getting worst as we were managing our money to have the engine replaced in 2013. We didnt want it getting worst while we were saving up the $6000. So its been sitting in our garage for the last 8 months until last month when we finally had the $6000 to get the engine replaced. That being said, our auto shop can only provide receipts for 2013 maybe one receipt for 2014. I got the car used in April 2012. So the car was serviced with oil changes from about July 2012 throughout 2013 and maybe one month at the beginning of 2014.My husband kept saying he never seen an oil light. After he brought it to my attention, I realized Id never seen an oil light either. We both can confirm having the oil changed as well as paying for an oil pan replacement. And not once did an oil light come on!! So we spent $6000 for an engine just recently at KIA and on the way home from the dealership, after dropping $6000, our car dies out! At this point, Im livid, and of course the dealership was closed and the next day was Sunday so I had to wait until Monday to call KIA. That Saturday evening we have our friend, a professional auto mechanic, come over to check out the car to give us his opinion on why the KIA died out on the way home from a $6000 engine repair job. He says we need an alternator! When I call KIA to explain what happened, the service guy says nothing was wrong with it when it left their service department. Our recommendations, written on the receipt, only described us needing new tires. Needless to say I am not trying to deal with KIA, so we let our friend, the professional auto mechanic, replace our alternator and while hes doing the job, he notices a bunch of screws missing!! Now Ive got to call KIA about that. Our friend explained that if everything isnt screwed in place that our car will start rattling and itll cause even more damage under the hood. Cant wait to hear KIAs excuse as to why they didnt screw everything back in where its supposed to be screwed in.

2015 Kia Optima. 37k miles or so on it... engine seized after oil change. Dealership is trying to weasel out of warranty because I dont have oil receipts. Magnuson-Moss warranty act of 1975 states the company must prove that the bearing failure was my fault before denying warranty (lack of receipts doesnt prove lack of maintenance). Also no manufacturer can require you to use their maintenance products unless they provide them free of charge. They had a class action suit last year over this very issue. Beware any company offering great warranties... they do whatever they can to get out of honoring them. Never buy Kia.

We bought a new Kia Soul from Doug Smith Kia in American Fork, UT on Dec 31, 2014. Drove home to Texas and noticed a rhythmic, vibrating, humming noise when we cruised at highway speeds. Possibly this is some kind of harmonic balance problem. It has gotten a bit worse as we have driven the car. It now has 2000 miles on the odometer. Took the car to local Kia dealer in Amarillo, Tx, Petes Car Smart, and although the two head mechanics rode with me and clearly heard and felt the problem, they could not make a diagnosis. They had the car for three days, said they had calls into the Kia engineering tech dept., but could not get help. They had me drive another brand new Soul right off of the truck, and it did the same thing. The head mechanic rode with me and he heard and felt it, too. We are not sure what course of action to take now.

I was driving my 2013 Kia Sorrento on Interstate 95 at 8 am on the morning of 8/11/14. Clear day, nothing out of the ordinary. I had 2 co-workers with me and when I looked in my rear view mirror I noticed the sun in the eyes of one of my co-workers so I pulled the shade on the sunroof. Less than a minute later we all heard a loud bang out of nowhere that sounded like a gunshot. Immediately following the sunroof exploded into a million little pieces that rested on the shade I had just pulled. If I hadnt done that, we would have all been pelted with the glass and who knows what kind of injury or accident would have occurred.

We bought a Kia Sorento and financed through Kia.... HUGE MISTAKE! This company is absolutely horrible to work with... We traded our Kia for a different vehicle in February. The Kia was paid off via the new dealership... BUT Kia has called us 3 and 4 times a day trying to collect on a vehicle that we no longer own. We have spoke to several people at Kia giving them the payoff information and at the end of each call they still ask for payment.... YES... They ask for payment for a vehicle that we no longer own. There is a time lapse on Kia from payoff to their collection department. These people are awful to work with. For a month they call us numerous times a day....even after giving them proof of payoff! Our Kia was a good vehicle.... Just do not finance through Kia financial. I wont ever buy another Kia just for that reason! Horrible, Horrible Customer Service!!!!

I rate Petes Car Smart and KIA a negative star. If zero star means bad, then negative stars for both of them. But if you are asking 5 stars or more is bad, then lets say 6 stars. I dont get answers from the service manager besides their nothing wrong with your car. Yes, we can see it used oil but there is nothing wrong with it. The only time they talked to me was when I was there because once I left, they never returned my call or even tried to explain anything to me. So I would say KIA and Petes are a joke or KIA should get sue for false ads which they say they have the best warranty. I could say the same if I never had to warrant anything. My 2007 KIA Sportage that I got brand new had around 46000 miles when I started to notice it using oil. Its using half a quart every 3000 miles under normal driving conditions. I shouldnt have to change it until 7000 miles. So if it using half a quart every 3000 miles, one could say it will use 1 quart every 7000 miles. Petes and/or Kia did an oil test to see if it uses oil, but they will or have not want to do it at 7000 miles. Last time I went in there to get it checked at the 3000, they topped it off and said they would call me. But I have not gotten a call from them. I told them I wish they had not top it off because I wanted to bring it back at 7000 miles and see how much oil it had use. HQ is a joke also, I have played phone tag with a lady in Atlanta and her reason for not calling me is because of my cell number (which is a KY number) and they thought I was in her time zone. I left message for her to call me at 8, her time, which would be 7AM my time so I could talk with her. For weeks, no reply. They would call during my work day. After weeks of leaving messages and trying to get that same person, I got a direct number for her. But after talking to her, she too is telling me theres nothing wrong with my SUV. Its normal for a car to use oil (yes, if it had lots of miles and never got regular oil changes). She did tell me that KIA would be more than happy to service my SUV, but I would have to pay for it. If they did find something, they would be more than happy to cover it under the warranty. Like they are going to tell me the truth. I have told my boss and all my friends not to buy any KIA vehicles at all. I have told all my friends not to purchase any KIA or cars from Petes Car Smart in Amarillo, TX and now I wish someone had done the same for me. If anyone has had the same problems with their KIA, I would like to know about and what you have done. I dont care what car you had as long as it is a KIA.

With the advent of keyless entry, there are bound to be lost key FOBS. They are ridiculous in price. Then you have to go to a dealer to have it programmed. They get you coming and going. Same with the built-in GPS. The new maps are expensive. I did not care for the car app that is for your phone either. Purchased a 2011 Kia Sorrento brand new (less than 100 miles on it) in August of 2014. Went to bring it in for a simple camera replacement that would be covered under the 5 year/60k warranty, only to find out that the warranty started back in 2011 when the car was placed on the lot. So by the time I purchased the car, there were only 2 years left of the warranty unbeknownst to me (even though they sold me the car as new --certainly not a demo). Conveniently no one is able to resolve this issue -- hitting a wall with kiaconsumeraffairs, and the dealership is just not helpful altogether. This is my second Kia, and will now be my last. A lot of headache over a quick repair. Curious if all dealerships do this to lessen the chance of someone making a claim under the warranties -- have them all start prior to the car being sold.

I recently purchased my new Kia Soul (July 2012) with the expectation of 34 mpg. I noticed that my gas mileage did not meet those numbers. I am averaging 28 mpg. I received an email from Kia wanting to reimburse me for the difference in the mpg’s ($163.00). However, they only want to reimburse me for the mileage I have used. What about the future mileage? I have a 5 year loan on this thing. What about the remaining 4 and 1/4 years’ worth. Somehow I feel I have been cheated.

I cant even tell when they are on and having highbeams is the only why I can drive safely, until other drivers blind me with theirs because they are upset about it. Originally I thought maybe they just need cleaned... till I did research this is a major issue with many people and Kia needs to take responsibility. The chrome is getting burnt by the lights and it no longer is reflective enough to work effectively. I dont know how they have not recalled with all the complaints I have viewed online. This is a safety hazard and needs to be addressed. Other than that I think it is a fantastic car.

I received the car back in late September and was directed to the kia.com website to file my reimbursement claim. The claim took two months to process and yet here we are in January 2020 and I still dont have the money in which I provider full documentation for. My husband was driving to town this past Sat. He lost control of the steering and brakes. We had a mechanic take a look. The crankshaft bolt broke and the pin sheared off. So we have had this Kia for 10 months. Paid almost $13,000 for it. It had 68,000 miles. It has almost 79,000 now. The mechanic said that the pin should have lasted the life of the Kia. So I go to a United States Government web site and am horrified. There are 5 recalls, and 12 suggested service calls for repair of parts that should last the life of the vehicle. Some of the repairs state that this default could cause serious accidents. Then on further investigation I find out there is a civil suit against Kia. There are 1,000s of people experiencing this problem. The real problem is that the gear behind the harmonic stabilizer was engineered wrong. Its too heavy. So even if you get the crankshaft pin replaced it happens again. The Govt. site is Odi.nhtsa.gov and I also found info at other credited web site and by reading the class action suit, Robinson et al v. Kia Motors Inc et al., case # 13-cv-00006 US District Court, type that into the tool bar. I have tried to contact Kia at 1800-333-4542, 1800-225-3193. I have emailed Greg **, Director of Regional Affairs at ** and Kia USA. My Kia is not safe to drive. It is alleged that Kia has known about these engineering defects for a long time. Its a lot to digest. I am heartbroken and with no funds to repair this Kia. I pay for a Kia Sorento that is unsafe to drive. When the crankshaft pin broke, it did damage to the belts, harmonic balancer, gear behind harmonic balancer. The cotter pin that sheared off as well, the oil pan seal. Wow, but I feel fortunate that no one was physically hurt. Maybe Consumer Affairs should do an article about this. 1,000s of Consumers are affected. Will it take fatalities for someone to address this?

I purchased my 3rd Kia in Sept 2021. A 2022 Stinger GT. I found out on Friday, 12/31/21 that the transmission needs to be replaced. (Less than 8k miles). My appt was at 11am and they were closing at 4pm that day. By 3pm, when I had still not heard anything from my Service Advisor, I went back up to the dealership. The car wasnt currently being looked at or worked on, and yet no one had bothered to call and deliver the awful news. Nor did they even attempt to call the Tech Line and get authorization for a rental car. This was on a Friday, so I was without my car over the weekend. I called my Service Advisor back on Monday morning at 9:30 am (knowing he wouldnt be reaching out to me first). I was then told that the tech line doesnt open until 11am our time and they will have to authorize a rental car. But Hertz may not have anything available. I will NEVER purchase another Kia, that is for sure.

I bought a 2010 Kia Rio at the end of September. I havent had the car for two full months yet. I only have made one payment on the car. Already, the car needed the breaks and the gas pedal fixed. Kia Motor Finance (KMF) says for its leases, the consumer must contact them
Kia Motor Finance (KMF) says for its leases, the consumer must contact them to tell them how to allocate a payment. My payment was late, the statement reflected principle, taxes, the late fee and a total. I paid the total as per the statement, but KMF allocated everything to the principle and taxes only. This occurred over a number of months. Now I am told that the late fees were never paid. If the statement says to pay the total amount due, why would I think I need to call within 24 hours of the payment and tell them to allocate to principle, tax and late fees. My calls remain unanswered. I have been bounced around between collections and customer services. In addition, KMF explained that when I paid to get my car back, the repo fee was applied to my principle. KMF reversed it but put my account in to delinquency. I am being held accountable for their incompetency, lack of transparency, fraudulent and abusive use of statements that are not honored. Why would the consumer know that KMF requires allocation instructions. It is not written on the lease, no addendum received stating this is the policy, and nothing on the statement that says for your late payment to be processed please call us. Why wouldnt a consumer believe the breakdown on the statement is the exact way the payment would be processed. This is mind boggling and I refuse to believe that I am the only person this is happening to. This becomes very scary that a corporation takes your payment, implies via a statement of what the payment is consisted of but applies it in a different manner. The Consumer should be Informed of this practice.

Leased a Kia Sorento early 2016 brand new. No problems that I noticed other than the engine oil got dirty and more dirty every time it was changed. Shortly after my oil was changed the last time, the engine started making a clicking noise then it all of a sudden blew. Dark smoke came out the exhaust. The car cut back on long enough to get home then it didnt cut back on. Had Kia tow it to get maintenance only to have the warranty company refused to pay for repairs. Was told that there was sludge in the engine and was asked to provide service receipts, which I did. I am not a rich person to just pull 5000 dollars out of my pocket and pay for a repair especially if I am not at fault. I told Kia to take the car as a voluntary repossession. No word since. So in 2013 I get a brand new Kia Forte EX with 42 on the OD. I’m thinking it’s the stuff blue tooth, power windows, all the goodies including satellite radio. The guys at the dealership told me, after 6months trade it in, I love it so much I didn’t and now I’m stuck with it. Now it’s 2019, since 2015 I’ve been having to change out headlights, brake lights, tail lights, two batteries in 2019, and get this about 6 months ago I started smelling a burning smell, well turns out the backlight in back windshield the bulb to it had exploded and the wire had started to burn. That ain’t even the half of it, since 2016, the lights come on by themselves at night. I picked it up on my house camera I have outside. They just came on, and since 2014 acquiring signal regardless of it being satellite am or fm or a cd. And it don’t stop there, LOL. Omg I could cry and rip my hair out. The speakers go in and out and crackle. The door seals leak. When I turn my steering wheel or put on the turn signal radio acquires signal, cheap interiors that don’t withstand anything. The drivers seat gets hard after a few years too. The lights flicker when I drive sometimes, a big electrical problem... One that goes through the whole car and is a very expensive fix. Oh and wait my shift knob broke. It broke! How does that happen? Cheap paint, this is cheap, an overly cheap car for what they ask for them. When I use my AC, the brakes act like they don’t want to work. I put the car in park once and when I got ready to get out it started to roll back. And guess what the dealership has changed out fuses and harnesses and other stuff re the lights but somehow can’t reproduce the other stuff so I started making videos and keeping the ones from my security system. Even after an oil change I get nasty smells coming into the car. They even changed the filters. I pray my next car won’t be a Kia. And the gas mileage it’s horrible. Don’t fool yourselves.
