Mazda has been known for its sporty appeal across most of its lineup and such a theme holds true for the latest Mazda3 Sedan with a delightfully playful powertrain found in the top-level all-wheel-drive 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus trim. Before we emerge on an electric car journey, there are a lot of new characteristics to enjoy in many current gas-powered vehicles such as the Mazda3. While the Mazda3 Sedan hasn’t been at the top of the sales chart for its segment, it holds its own for being one of the sportier options in a unique field of compact sedans and brings the proper premium accommodations and a powerful turbocharged engine with class-leading performance. Performance and Driving Character Just like my previous review of the Mazda3 Hatchback 2.5 Turbo, the new Mazda3 Sedan Turbo has a lot to bring smiles to your face. For one, it has class-leading torque with as much as 320 lb-ft when you use premium fuel or 310 lb-ft using regular. The 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine is also good for 250 horsepower or 227 ponies if you save a little at the pump for regular unleaded. Sending power through a tried and true 6-speed automatic transmission out to the front wheels gives you a direct and safe feel where you’re never looking for additional power. At times you feel like you must give the Mazda3 a bit more gas, but it eventually follows through with somewhat of a turbo lag delayed thrust of power that puts you back in your seat. The Mazda3 goes exactly where you point it without any loose feeling of the steering or 18-inch tires gripping the road. There’s a nice balanced feel what’s in part thanks to the all-wheel-drive system of the Mazda3 Sedan Turbo Premium Plus, which otherwise comes in front-wheel-drive for the non-turbo trim levels with an option for AWD in the Premium trim. Zero to 60 mph takes place in 5.6 seconds, which is pretty good as it leaves the competition in the dust. Fuel Economy The SKYACTIV-G technology in the Mazda3’s turbocharged engine can help muster out consistent fuel consumption numbers for its substantial power figures getting the EPA-estimated 25 mpg city, 31 mpg highway, and 27 mpg combined. Interior and Tech The interior of the Mazda3 Sedan is just like what you find in my previous review of the Mazda3 Hatchback Turbo Premium Plus where there are plentiful soft-touch surfaces and a premium level of quality. The front heated seats are accommodating but tend to be in a somewhat narrow area. There’s a nice minimalistic approach to the interior design and setup with an 8.8-inch infotainment screen that’s no longer a touchscreen but operated solely by a central control knob that’s somewhat like the iDrive control setup from BMW, which isn’t a bad thing in my opinion. The gauge cluster is composed of a central LCD screen and analog gauges on the sides that nicely integrate to match the screen’s gauge graphics. Safety The top Turbo Premium Plus trim comes with a full array of active safety features, including radar cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, driver attention alert, a 360-degree view monitor camera system, and high beam control for the adaptive LED headlights. Price The Mazda3 Sedan remains competitive for its pricing scale starting at just $21,150 for the base 2.0-liter 155-horsepower sedan. However, I feel you get a little more for its premium theme, excellent fit and finish, and remarkable performance for a mainstream compact sedan even at the as-tested price for the top 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus trim at $35,060.

I have an 2007 Mazda B2300 truck which I bought in July 2010. On January 28, 2012, I noticed a leak coming from the differential. I immediately called the two Mazda dealerships closest to me, but being a Saturday, neither would take me that day. I had to get somebody to at least look at this, so I ended up at a Meineke shop, which Id been going to for several years. Leak turned out to be the pinion seal which I had them fixed. The following Thursday, I had to bring it back to Meineke, because the differential was making whining noise. Meineke offered to do the warranty work, and I agreed. I put a claim into Mazdas service contract. They then dragged their feet and called on a third party adjuster to come and look at the damage. After a week of the truck up in the air on Meinekes rack, per lack of communication with Mazdas warranty people, I had to OK Meineke to open up the differential, etc. It turned out the main bearing had gone bad. This adjuster decided I was at fault for not maintaining it and also that the shop was at fault for not tightening the pinion nut tight enough on their former pinion seal job. This was all a bogus excuse though. Nowhere is there any maintenance schedule for the differential in the contract nor in the owners manual. The shop had tightened the pinion nut the first time so hard, they said any harder and it wouldve stripped. Still Mazda denies me coverage based on this adjusters bogus theories. Mechanics say the bearing went bad causing a wobble in the drive shaft which in turn compromised the pinion seal, thus causing the leak. Differential was still running smooth and noiseless, when I discovered the leak and took it in. This then has nothing to do with lack of maintenance running out of oil or the pinion nut not being torqued down properly. I had to pay the shop out of pocket for part of the bill, as they gave me a break. They also paid for a rental car for the week, which also should be covered by Mazda. Local attorneys say this would really be small claims, but now Im searching on where to have papers served to Mazda as they have no real office in California, etc. Meineke shop owner and his mechanics are willing to come to court to give their expert opinion, etc.

We are a non-profit agency that owns a 2000 Mazda minivan to transport clients. A driver lost the key to the van, our only key. The van was running fine and we have found this to be a very reliable vehicle. Because the key must be programmed to the ignition, the van had to be towed to the dealer. Several keys were ordered, but we were told they were defective. Finally, a good key was reprogrammed, but the van wouldnt start. So, we were told we needed an immobilizer unit. More delay and now the bill had risen to $1,100. Once the immobilizer unit was installed, the van still wouldnt start and we were told we needed an instrument cluster. Another $1,400. That was a month ago. A defective part was sent from Mazda, followed by the wrong part. We still dont have our van and the dealer doesnt have the replacement part. It has been two months. I have called Mazda customer assistance twice. No help. The situation is completely unacceptable and yet we feel unable to do anything to rectify it. What if the dealer has incorrectly diagnosed the problem? We have no way to know until the instrument cluster finally arrives (we hope) and is installed. If this really is the fault of Mazda Corporate and their supply chain for parts, something needs to be fixed. Im wondering if others have had this kind of experience.

Recently the headlight went off and when approached the dealer they said the headlight was already replaced once by the previous owner but outside Mazda, which might have caused the assembly to go down, contacted Mazda customer service for assistance but it was the worst experience, even after multiple emails and escalations they denied to repair it under warranty. How can they justify the headlight replaced by the previous owner damaged the assembly, even if it is the car is still under warranty, they have no courtesy to customer, please stay away from Mazda.

I had to bring it into the dealership (Stoney Trail Mazda) in Calgary AB Canada for a period of 4 weeks. They had to replace the complete transmission which took 2 weeks and after the replacement there was still noises coming from the vehicle, they took another two weeks to find out what was wrong and was complete clueless. They told me they did further work by replacing the flywheel and a number of other parts.The dealership is making an effort and did fix everything without further cost to me and did provide a rental vehicle which I appreciate greatly. However, I completely lost confidence in Mazda as a company. Ive been a long time Mazda owner and the fact that the dealership is not stepping up to replace a clearly lemon/defective vehicle is really upsetting. This will be the last Mazda I will ever own. Stay away from the Mazda CX3!!!

Also fits nicely into our very tiny one-car garage, which is a definite plus. We purchased our Mazda at a private dealership and purchased the top coverage warranty since the car was a 2007 model.Earlier this month, my husband took the car to the warranty approved maintenance shop for an oil change, where he was informed by the mechanic that the car needs to be repaired due to VVT damage, and that we cannot drive the car until the part is ordered and repaired. At first we were told that our warranty will cover the repair work, but it will take approximately 2 weeks for the VVT part to come in.It has now been nearly three weeks, and my husband and I still dont have our car back, since the VVT part is on backorder all over North America. We are both working parents of a two and a half year old toddler who needs to be taken to daycare every day. The CX7 is our only car, therefore in the past three weeks; weve had to rely on friends, co-workers and now a rental car to make it to work and our daughters daycare. The rental car is costing us a lot of money, and neither our warranty, nor Mazda is willing to cover the rental car fees. We have no estimate as to when the VVT part will arrive for our Mazda CX7 and no way of getting around. We are financially unable to continue paying for the rental car.Having said all that, I am extremely disappointed and angry with Mazda. It seems that VVT (variable valve timing) part is now a known problem with Mazda CX7, so this is a faulty VVT problem that Mazda is aware of, yet no one we spoke with from Mazda is willing to show any compassion for us. Mazdas response to our problem is simply that since we dont have proof of enough oil changes (weve only had the car for less than a year), and we dont have our extended warranty with Mazda, therefore its not their problem. Ive obviously been mistaken by trusting Mazda for making a reliable car, or showing any social responsibility and compassion to their customers.

I called my insurance company and they use a TPA that replaces windshields for them. It took the company 6 weeks to install my new windshield, because every time the windshield was delivered it was cracked. Just Monday, April 25th, I am driving to work and another pebble hit my windshield. I did not think much of it, until then I saw a spider crack going up my windshield... Not again!Is there a defect with these windshields? Then, it takes 4-6 weeks for a replacement to be installed because Mazda is SO backed up from California and then they arrive broken. I would appreciate Mazda to respond and to fix this issue, as this is a serious defect! It is against the law to drive with a broken windshield. And then be told that there is a 6-8 week back order. One window replacement company told me 3 months... are you kidding me! Mazda - you need to look into a recall!!! If not, you will have class-action on your hands!

I kept up with my oil changes. Last Thursday, I started the car and heard a terrible noise in the engine and my check engine light came on. I went home and did some research and discovered that the timing chain on the VVT is a huge issue with this vehicle. Thousands of inquiries and complaints. I researched recalls and discovered that Mazda has extended the warranty to 70,000 miles. My car has 52,000 miles. I called the dealership and they confirmed the extended warranty and told me to bring my car in. He said nothing else except that it would be covered. When I got to the dealership, they inspected the vehicle to make sure it was the timing chain problem before I left it. The service manager came out to the waiting room and asked me to talk with him privately in an office. He showed me a paper towel with what looked like chunky oil. He told me he would not be able to cover my car under the extended warranty because I had sludge and did not maintain my vehicle properly. I took that as an insult and told him I did get my oil changed. He asked me to provide receipts which seems ridiculous to me. Unless someone goes to one oil change place religiously, how do you keep track of all of those receipts? In my case, I have a friend do most of my oil changes. No receipts. I called Mazda direct to complain. They told me that they would forgo the receipts if they had permission to remove the valve cover and check the condition. At my expense! I called about 6 independent mechanics around town and they all told me the CX-7 has a sludge issue. That no vehicle with 50,000 miles would have sludge that bad even if oil changes werent performed at regular intervals. That no vehicle should need a timing chain at 50,000 miles. It is an obvious defect in the design and Mazda doesnt want to pay out millions to correct their mistake. I cannot afford a $1200 repair and now after reading all of these complaints, Im afraid my engine is going to blow. Mazda needs to take care of their customers!

If you live in the hills, the fancy moving headlights are horrible, visibility on low beams drops off so that if you are traveling up or down hill you have to put on your brights to see. We have the touring model which has a push button start but no button on the door so you have to pull out the fob to enter the car. A minor inconvenience but the most annoying thing I discovered the hard way is that if the fob drops out of your purse into the seat, and you lock the door, you will get locked out of your car. We had Push button start Nissans for 8 years and if you tried to lock the door with the fob inside it would alert you with a beep and open the doors. In the Mazda, you just get locked out. The final issue is the climate control knob. Shortly after purchase, the climate control knob would not stay on defrost and the air wasnt coming out of the vents it was supposed to. We contacted the dealership and they checked it and fixed it, but a month later it did the same thing. We contacted them again and they said that Mazda was aware of the problem and they had to special order a part by vin # to correct it. We had it fixed a second time and its been 3 weeks and the climate control wont click into defrost again! The dealership has been good about wanting to fix it, but so far they havent been able to figure it out. The dealership said our cx-5 was not the only one with this issue. Perhaps they have fixed some of these quirks with the 2015 /2016 models? I wont buy one again. Im going back to Nissan.

I called head office, they called the dealer, back and forth and it was eventually covered.The main root cause is that when I purchased the vehicle and asked to extend the warranty, I thought I was extending the original warranty which is covered under Mazdas Added Protection plan for new vehicles. What the salesman actually gave me is a two year powertrain warranty. Im not sure if this was miscommunication or an error on their part, difficult to prove at this point.

To all owner of Mazda 2007-2013 Grand touring model. This car has around 62 K miles on it and solely serviced at Peterson Mazda dealer which I bought the car from, in Huntington Beach, California. About a month or so the car was serviced as scheduled and the inspection revealed nothing out of the ordinary. I was informed that eventually, I have to change the brake pads within 6 months or so. There was about 1/3 left on them. Without any warning of any kind, the brakes quit working and the car was not driveable. I thank God that my kids were not with me. The only way I came to a full stop was to downgrade to the 1st gear and apply the emergency brake. I recall I was on the freeway and the car had to be towed to my place. I replaced the disks, put new pads front and rear and the car still was not breaking. I took the car back to the dealer thinking that the master cylinder was defective and need replacing and I was ready to bit my tongue and pay for it since my warranty just expired at 60K. To my surprise I was told that there is a factory recall on the brake boosters and the replacement is free. I was outraged by the fact that we were not informed of this potentially dangerous issue, and I was told that it is on the need to know or repair basis and that the dealer is not liable since Mazda would not reimburse the cost of the repair, which averages $400 or so. Thanks a lot, Mazda. It is almost as bad as the exploding gas tank from the Ford Pinto back in the days. Do yourself a favor call your dealer and let them know about those boosters. Your life is at risk. For the record, I rarely write reviews but this time I felt obligated to inform the public about the shady dishonest behavior that Mazda is conducting and my life and kids life is worth more than your pathetic $400. Signed a teacher and very unhappy customer.

The paint is extremely thin and it is difficult to see the clear coat with a magnifier lens. I brought the car to the dealer and they said it is normal to get spots because of road sand. I washed the car and one more spot appeared. Because of my firm complaints, I was able to get an appointment with an inspector from Mazda and now Im waiting to see him. Paint quality is unacceptably cheap for that car standard. Should I expect the car surface to be pitting away day by day?

I called CarMax about my extended warranty and was told it expired at 75K and I was at 78K. The car was taken to a reputable mechanic and when he pulled the engine down there was a massive amount of sludge on the engine resulting in cylinder head, timing belt, transmission damage. It appeared the car wasnt maintained. The engine has poor circulation of oil and although I just had an oil change 2 weeks prior to this incident it looked as if there wasnt any oil in the engine. It is irreparable. I still owe $9,000.00 on the vehicle and cant drive it. I just had hip replacement surgery and I have a disabled brother. We both depend on this vehicle and I am caught in a bad situation. It appears Mazda is aware of this problem per the complaints logged on the NHTSA website for the same make and model indicating engine problems and Mazda ignoring this issue. If I give back the car I still owe money!!! I cant afford to pay for a car and have to get one also. Buyers beware of buying a Mazda!! There is a hidden problem the company knows about and will not make good on something that they know is wrong to consumers.

Honda CRV, I realized is under power engine and whenever you need force/power, you can sense a howling and growling engine. It has overpriced itself and these two were major reason to opt for Mazda CX-5. There is one camera but sensors are used so intelligently that I have to say they made a niche for themselves. As soon as a car is in your blind spot - you dont/should not be looking into camera feeds - in Mazda CX-5, sensors make a yellow light glow in your mirror with a beep indicating that there is vehicle or person in your blind spot. I am over six feet - so entering and exiting is slight... a little bit tight... I have to adjust my posture of entering and exiting from this vehicle. My dealer experience was not as good as I wanted to be - #abbotsfordautomall #automall where #vipmazda is situated, didnt clarify before I reach to finance department that #bumper to bumper warranty is for 3 years only. They try to sell you insurance cover for those extra 2 years. Second bad taste happened, again when I was facing finance department that INSURANCE have to be from the dealer. They informed me that INSURANCE cannot be done from outside brokers or agents! Coming back to vehicle, its comfortable and nice... Ride is good but still cabin is not silent as I was expecting... In total, this is great vehicle which shows innovations and intelligent designing done by Mazda. This is made in Japan and quality of interior is not as bad as we see in Honda CRV. I like the way sensors handles vehicle and its power... when FWD will be changed in AWD is done auto. Thus it saves lot of fuel. I have driven it in fresh snow, black ice and the way vehicle managed traction and control is awesome. Seating is good and boot is comfortable too. I would definitely suggest this vehicle for small family usage - its navigation and sunroof is added features which helps in movement.

The CX5 provides that for me. Last summer we drove across the country and depending on my back, I was able to make adjustments to make it very comfortable for when I drove as well as being a passenger. The safety features such as the blind spot monitoring, the rear camera, and the automatic lights and windshield wipers were so helpful when driving. I felt so safe in this car. Mileage was good too, the car still has under 12K and were doing 26.7 mpg total.My only negative is that the rear hatch/door is not power controlled. In a fully loaded car I wouldve expected that, but it was not an option. I do want to note about some of the other reviews here - people need to explain their problems better. Owners also have to be realistic. How one drives a car does affect brakes. Front end Collisions only trigger front air bags (not side ones). Injuries can be caused by not wearing seat belts. And yes, sometimes cars have defects, but tens of thousands of cars are made of a particular model each year. A few will have problems from the get go. This is why many states have lemon laws. But if 5 people report the same problem, this is not a defect. Most likely your car got that 1 in 25,000 bad part. In that situation, if you can definitely prove it was Not your fault, you may get the maker to pay for the repair. But usually you cant, so hope the bill is low - that’s all.

The badly burned brake lines were not replaced and the badly burned wiring harness was spliced back together in pieces. They didnt even match the insulation colors to the existing wires and mismatched the wire size! After two more weeks of arguing with Mazda Customer Service Center in Irvine California, I was told by telephone call that Mazda engineers reviewed the photos I sent them and determined the repairs were Just fine, but they would gladly add some more electrical tape to the harness if I would like. I demanded to talk to someone in higher authority and was denied. I asked to have a report of their findings in writing and was denied. I just took my car to an independent repair facility for inspection and they agreed with my complaints 100%. Their estimate to repair is going to cost me and my insurance company $2600. Mazda is the most dishonest company I have ever dealt with in my life. I will never purchase another Mazda as long as I live.

We had told Mazda for over a year, it was hard to get into reverse and the 1-2 chatter noise but never got any resolution on this. I took the car in and the dealer said it would be a clutch, which was not covered. I was not happy but somewhat ok with that. It turned out that when the part failed (Throwout bearing), it destroyed the transmission and that is not covered (Mazda Customer service must know about the problem as they tell you it is not covered and basically hang up on you).Same with MEPP, which I paid a great deal of money for bumper to bumper extended total care, which is supposed to cover manual transmission but somehow does not. I’m getting rid of both cars and may have to junk my other car, which went from being worth 10k to 0 in an instant by a bearing which should be covered. Don’t buy Mazda. They dont stand behind their products. Always dealer serviced and just was serviced and passed MAZDA (Green light thing they give you every time its serviced making you feel like its all good, which is a lie). $3,000.00 to replace the clutch is insane. Its not a skyline GTR.

I also told them the coolant light was coming on but not staying on and that the car was not overheating. I called the dealer at 4:30 on 7/2/2012 to check on the status. I was told they were getting prices and would call me back. When they called back, the quote was $400 for a sensor and sub tank. I declined the service since it was just a light issue. They quoted a repair of an AC control at $889.59 plus taxes that came to $1000.08. One has to have air in Memphis, so I authorized the repair. When I arrived to pick up the car, they read the repairs performed to me and stated there was damage to the AC face plate during prior work (Quote from invoice - the face plate is already damaged inside from someone doing prior work, but all seems okay though). I stated that the AC had never been worked on by anyone other than the Mazda dealer. I paid for the service, $1000.08, got in my car to find that the radio did not work and there were no lights on the radio/temp display nor were the lights on the AC controls working. I went right back in the shop to notify them. I was informed that there was no one available to look at the car because it was late on 7/3 and the next day was a holiday. The tech called Gary, who said they would send someone to pick up my car at my work on 7/5/2012. They came and got it. It was at the shop for a couple of hours when Gary called back to inform me the problem was with the face plate. The cost of this repair would be around $500. He stated that the displays were working at that time but he didnt know if it would last. They brought the car back to me. I made it less than a mile before the radio and the Ac controls went out. I smacked the dashboard and they came back on. The next morning, the same thing happened again. I have never once had a problem with my radio and AC controls before Garys team took it apart. If it had truly been damaged (by Mazda in a prior service), one would think in seven years, I would have had the problem prior to this service. I have placed a call to the Service Department manager, with no response as yet.

However, my car has had several recalls, one of which came after I had already had and paid for the repair. That is where I have my problem with Mazda. The recall stated it takes 6-8 weeks to process a claim on repairs that have been recalled, o.k., I get it. I sent my recall reimbursement form and supporting documents registered mail, which was a smart move on my part, because they first tried to claim that they did not receive my recall repayment request. I told them that a representative had signed for the registered mail 4 days after I sent it. So they requested. I fax the form and supporting documents. I waited approximately 4 weeks to see what the status on my refund was. Mazda Recall Center told me they cant send a check because the repair was made with a credit payment (it was a debit card that was used for the payment on an account I had already closed). So they told me after a week later, when I called again, that they would have to get an approval to send a check. I waited 2 more weeks, called and was told that the check should be on the way 2-3 weeks. I waited 3 weeks to call back, and have now been told that it will take another 2-3 weeks to get the reimbursement. I feel as the Mazda is Hemming and Hawing with this issue for whatever reason and would like to know if anyone else has been having this type of issue with Mazda.

Fast forward 2 years later, my car mysteriously would not start. I would have to catch a cab to work. When I called a mechanic to come out to take a look at my Mazda, it started (what!). This went on for about 6 months. I went on a trip to NY and once again it would not start. The dashboard cluster defaulted; cost to fix was $1000. I took it to a certified dealer and while fixing it, they informed me that I also had a transmission leak which would cost me $1500 to fix. At this time, a recall notice had been mailed and I was unaware of this issue. I needed my car being a single mother of 3; I had no choice. Fast forward to present day, 2013, about a week ago, my car started making loud noises. I took it back to the dealer I purchased my car from. Guess what! My transmission has to be replaced cost $3600 (really!) and I had to pay $100 for them to tell me that. Unfortunately, I was one of the millions hit with layoffs; no income. I called Mazda corporate and informed them that I was not aware of the recall notice sent out in 2011. The customer service rep informed me that there wasnt a recall and that I was misinformed. I informed her that I got the information off their website and from the dealership. She was not empathetic to my situation. I understand that my warranty expired. However, I feel that a recall should never expire. If you are aware that a defected part has been placed in your product, you have a responsibility to replace. I paid $17,000 for my car. With all the service issues, Im close to $7000 in repairs and towing fees - almost half the cost of the car. This is not fair to me and others, who work hard all our lives, especially when my car only has 75,000 miles and Im the only owner and now when money is nonexistent to me. Please do not purchase a Mazda. It’s a money pit.

I was charged $57 which they claim is for the inspection of the car. I then called Mazda customer service along with checking their website only to find out that Mazda does a free comprehensive car health check, the same check which I was charged for. To further worsen the matter, a week after the inspection I discovered my RX8 had issues with starting again whenever it is turned off. We select a model, which has 13 miles on it - and though others (Venza, Infinity) were her chief desire, she believes that the decision was a good, more economical one. We (she) purchases the vehicle July 4th, 2011.One month in, the front driver tire blows out on the 55 freeway in Costa Mesa. The car is driven to the dealer the next day - to have a tire placed on. The price was surely surprise surprise - $250.00. We push to know why the tire was so expensive, its because the size is new for this size vehicle and theres one maker of the tire. Bridgestone. We pay for it begrudgingly, and go about our way.Fast forward to February 6th, 2015, a shade over 3 years, 6 months of owning the vehicle. The vehicle history is good, maintenance is excellent (my wife is a therapist for children with autism so thats why vehicle choice was extremely important - traveling client to client in administering therapy sessions) and without warning, she cannot reverse. She can drive forward, yet is losing power when the automatic attempts to shift from 1st to 2nd gear, so it jumps from first to 3rd.We take the vehicle to Browning Mazda in Cerritos and we are advised that the transmission needs to be replaced (3,200). 3 years 6 months 64,262 miles, excellent maintenance history, & this vehicle needs a NEW transmission? This felt like a terrible joke. The power train warranty? 3y/60k. Expired just over 4,000 miles ago. If theres an engine issue, we usually receive a warning (ie - check engine light flashes on when the oil hits around 3,500) - yet for a failed transmission the vehicle took a dump without warning.We contact Mazda (corporate) & are advised later in the day that they would pay half of the ticketed amount. Thats still egregious as there wouldnt be a vehicle sold if most buyers knew that at such ridiculous low mileage, the transmission would fail them. We retrieve the vehicle and have it looked at for two more opinions and apparently there are no codes indicating the transmission is bad, not to mention the fact the transmission itself is indicating itself being bad simply by the test drive.One transmission mechanic wanted to advise us that Mazda contains many Ford parts, including the transmission and the parts itself. He opens a book, shows a Ford Escape transmission cover (as an example to start) & shows the transmission cover for a Mazda Cx7. Same shape. Same size. Same diameter. The only difference was the material each was made out of. He also advised us that Ford held a controlling stake in Mazda for a very long time and that Mazda in engine make up is similar to many Ford vehicles.Im thankful for such insight as now, my wife, shes back to square one. We will just take it on the chin, pay the dealer, trade it in and get into the vehicle she wanted to originally (Toyota Venza) as it has a powertrain of 7y/100k, and we have another blank check and a few we are willing to pay more of a premium for now as opposed to settling (which appears now, that we did).My advice, if you could help it remain in a Toyota (I drive a Lexus and plan to remain with Toyota) or Honda (my wife bought a Civic new in 2001, drove it to 2011 without issue, netting 170k miles before selling to a UCI college student, then purchasing this Mazda vehicle). If my story helps you even a little bit, I am definitely thankful. This experience feels completely underhanded and we feel hoodwinked.

We had to limp to a shop and were told the turbo and the catalytic converter were shot. This cost us $3,600. Before being fixed I contacted the local Mazda dealer who told me that these cars are notorious for failed turbos. In fact he said it was so bad that Mazda put out a special warranty to cover these turbos. They all fail around 60-70,000 miles. Turns out, my VIN number did not match the ones that were a part of this special warranty. I asked the service manager, Is there anything you can do for me? He replied, sarcastically, We can replace your turbo for you.I have owned three Mazdas. Every one had problems. The one thing I have found though that all Mazdas share are very bad brakes. They are always very weak. This CX-7 with 70,000 also has bad brakes. I am replacing the front rotors for the SECOND time, with only 70,000 miles. I have replaced the pads probably 5 times and I do not drive fast or slam them. My son and I are very meticulous about changing the oil and the brake pads. Maintenance like we do should help a car last. Unfortunately Mazdas are very cheap, low-end Japanese cars and I guess it doesnt matter what you do, they just fall apart.

From day one, I have experienced problems shifting into 1st gear, where it just plain and simple will not go into gear. This happens whether the car is cold or warm. Also on 2nd gear and reverse. It sticks in almost every gear. It clunks loudly when putting the car into 1st gear initially and when going from 1st to 2nd. It also accelerates on its own when I am both shifting up and shifting down. I have almost hit someone at a stop light and while sitting in stop and go traffic because of this issue. It happens every day, intermittently. I feel very unsafe driving it. Mazda has said that they will contact the dealership and speak to them, because the dealership will not confirm nor deny that these things shouldn’t be happening, which is weird seeing as the car is brand new and no brand new car should ever refuse to go into gear nor drive on its own. I had a 2004 before this with zero problems and I regret buying up. I am very unhappy and in danger.

I asked to have a remote start installed (I live over an hour and a half from the dealership as this is the closest Mazda dealership to my home). I took a full day off work to drive to the dealership and wait four hours for the remote start to be installed. They installed an Mobile Remote Start (MMS) and NOT a remote start as I asked. The Mobile remote start doesnt work where I live and work in WV due to the lack of cell service in many areas. So I asked them to remove it. I had to take off another full day off work to have them remove the incorrect product that they installed the regular Mazda remote start.Its been a couple of months and the Mazda product (remote start) has been nothing but problems! It works one day and then doesnt work the next day. When it does work, it wont start until Im like right up on top of my car and then when you open the door, the car shuts off. I changed the batteries and that didnt do anything. It worked the first day and not the second or third day. I contacted my salesman who said I could bring it back down and they would take a look at it and repair it if there was an issue. He said they would replace it if it was faulty. I went out and looked up the reviews and the reviews all indicate that similar problems have existed (with reviews dating) back to 2012. Apparently Mazda has done nothing to address or fix the issues with the faulty device.I requested a refund (I paid about $500.00 for the product and the installation). Mazda refused to give me a refund. They care absolutely nothing about the bottom line of their customers. This will be the LAST MAZDA I ever buy! Not because the car is bad, I like the car, but because the service after the sale of a 30K+ product is obviously NOT one where the customer care. I will be encouraging all my friends on Facebook and work and everyone from here on out who ask me about my car (its a beautiful car... I get lots of questions about it), NEVER to buy one if they expect to have quality service after the sale! Terrible business practices Mazda! You should be ashamed of yourselves. P. S. She said it sounded like a gunshot and she almost wrecked. It exploded upward and out of the vehicle although she had A LOT of glass that rained back in on her and the inside of her car. The vehicle was only 8 months old. Mazda replaced the sunroof out of goodwill (as they put it) and informed us that it was probably due to a shard of metal in the track left over from manufacturing... pressure built up on the glass and it exploded. Her vehicle is not the first vehicle to do this - Google it! They are refusing to repair the leather seats that the glass got embedded in and ripped and are refusing to fix the paint where the glass flew out and took a chunk of paint off the roof and the trunk of the vehicle. We have been trying to work through this with them since January. I have been on the phone with Corporate Mazda who in turn have been trying to get Passport Mazda on the phone for 2 weeks to get their side of the story. They have not made a connection with Corporate in over two weeks. Isnt that like ignoring your boss? Besides the fact that Mazda will not stand behind their product and quality. One of my daughters first adult purchases has not turned out to be a disheartening experience. They have not heard the last from us as we stand up for what is right! Do not purchase a Mazda as their customer service is LESS THAN SATISFACTORY and we purchased not ONE but TWO MAZDAS ON THE SAME DAY! Its all about how you respond to what goes wrong, Mazda!

We have had very positive experiences in owning 3 other Mazdas. Great driveability in town, freeway or long distance. Gets good gas mileage. Has Bluetooth feature for answering and making phone calls hands free. However, it does not have power seats or lighted mirrors on the visors. Sometimes the catalytic converter has an odor of sulfur that service technicians do not seem able to smell or find the cause of when we have it serviced.

However within a few weeks we heard this really loud noise on the right front of the car, by the tire when driving over 50 miles an hour. We inquired many different times and they said it was probably the tires but that the tires werent included in the warranty. The transfer case along with some other things that the Mazda employee told us made it dangerous to drive and legally they couldnt allow me to drive my car until it was replaced. The inside knobs of the car lights fell off within a few months of purchase. The headphones that went with the rear entertainment system were defective. The Bluetooth that allows you to talk hands-free is has so much static that the person on the other line cannot hear you very well. They did not fix that.I tried to get Mazda to replace the car with another or buy it back. They refused and said that because they kept fixing the problems - we couldnt file for lemon law. However, they did say if things continued to go bad after my warranty expired, they would extend it. Did that happen? No, it did not. We filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Since then, the brakes I replaced 3x within 2 years as they continue to squeak even when they are brand new! Mazda told me it was probably because I got my brakes done at Midas who used a different brand so I allowed them to replace it with the Mazda brand. Yep, still squeaks. Its VERY loud and embarrassing. At that point, Mazda told me there was nothing that they could do.Last summer, the water that comes from the air conditioning backed up inside the car, flooding the passengers front floor. This summer, it did the same. Due to this, the front blower motor has stopped working. This will be over $600 to replace so here I drive this expensive car with the windows down since I have no air conditioning. At night, I have to drive with the windows down and the windshield wipers on because the windows fog up from the front blowers not working... NO DEFROST! We have had nothing but problems with this vehicle.Financially drained - not from the payment (although its way too expensive to have all these troubles!) but due to the continual repairs. I had a Saturn before this and drove it for ten years having to replace only the fuel injection. Everything else worked! $45K vs $16K. When it comes to Mazda, you do NOT get what you pay for. Unless you are paying for a lot of problems - then you are right on the money!

I went into Mazda back in March 2019 to test the CX-5, after driving it around and listening all the great features I started to become more and more interested in the vehicle. Zakou, my sales rep tried to get me the best deal. I explained to him I still had 3 more months left on my previous lease but he assured me it wouldnt be an issue because Mazda would take care of the remaining balance (which by the way, was written in the contract and stated in all the paperwork signed by them and myself).Well, to cut the story short, its been almost three months since I switched to Mazda, my previous lease hasnt been paid off yet although they took the vehicle from me, I have been CONSTANTLY reaching out to my sales rep, calling the store, asking for a manager, financial manager, ANYONE that could help me out and all I get is: I will find out what is going on and I will reach out to you but I never hear back from anyone, and the manager seems to never be available. The only person I was able to talk to was the manager for used cars who obviously had no idea what I was talking about and also promised to call back, but I am still waiting for that call - one week later-.I have sent copies of the letters from my previous car dealership regarding the missed payments and how this was reported to the credit bureaus damaging my credit and all Zakou (the sales rep) would say is that he passed it on to his managers. When I asked which manager so I could follow up he would say I could just call and ask for one and they would all know what I was talking about, which again, LIES, because not once was I able to get a hold of a manager, they seemed to NEVER be there, and when I would reach out to Zakou again, hed tell me the same thing making me even more upset at the fact that I was not getting any concrete answers.The last thing I was told by my sales rep was for me to pay the balance and bring them a cancelled check for a refund which at this point I refuse because that is not what I agreed on, and if I wouldve known that from the beginning I would have just waited out the three months so I wouldnt be stuck with two lease payments!! It is safe to say, this has been by FAR the worse experience with a dealership that has failed tremendously with their customer service. Their lack of attention or interest in my situation has made my experience so sour, if it wasnt for my contract I would have returned the vehicle already so I wouldnt have to deal with them.

I purchased a 2010 Mazda MX-5 Sport model in June of 2010. This year, the convertible top started tearing on the passenger side above the window. By the time I got to the Dealer, Beach Mazda in Myrtle Beach, SC, there was only one day left on the warranty. The car had less than 22000 miles on it so the three-year warranty should have been in effect. The service department took pictures of the tear and the odometer and sent them to Mazda. Mazda declined to warranty the repair. The service department again brought this to Mazdas attention when a Mazda representative was visiting the dealership. They again declined to warranty the repair. I sent a letter to the General Manager of Beach Mazda about this problem and I never received a response. I appealed the ruling to Mazda and they again declined to warranty the repair. I attempted to disputed this through the BBB Auto Line procedure but they wont help me because the car is now out of warranty. The top has now started tearing on the driver side in the exact same manner. Beach Mazda has given me a quote to replace the top and the cost is more than $1300 plus tax. Why would I buy a Mazda part if they wont warranty it? To top this off, Mazda is now trying to sell me an extended warranty.This is my FIRST and LAST Mazda. My wife and I have purchased 4 cars from Beach Automotive and I will think twice about buying another car there. The manager could have at least responded to the letter I sent!

The service people said they could not recreate the problem as stated on the work order, but it would mysteriously go away for a while when I complained during multiple oil changes. Recently, at 25,000 miles, the service manager at this dealership finally told me my rotors were out of round so they were going to ground them down to make them straight. I requested they be replaced with new rotors but they said no. The dealer who sold me the car with the defective rotors said no and Mazda Headquarters said see the dealer who sold me the car.The dealer I bought the car from said its an issue of wear and he doesnt do warranty work unless hes paid by Mazda. His service mgr. said he didnt feel or see a problem during a test drive after the rotors were filed down so they refused to replace them. If it was an issue of wear, the problem would not have been occurring since I bought the car. Filing down the rotors mostly eliminated the problem, thus indicating the rotors were bad from the start. To make sure the dealer saw information about the wheels wobbling in formal complaints on paperwork from the 3,000- and 25,000-mile oil changes, I filed a complaint with the state. They sent me a notice that the dealer said it was a wear problem and they would check with Mazda Headquarters!!Now Im wondering if the State of Michigan Attorney General has the will to tackle big business. I sent them every piece of information related to the problem and I would like my rotors replaced. Anybody out there have any ideas, similar problems?

Even though the preowned warranty was for 7 years and 100K miles they wouldnt cover the repair costs due to some technicality they cited with the warranty agreement. The original dealership changed ownership twice in the three years, so I brought the car to another dealership for repairs and dealt with Mazda corporate for reimbursement. The dealership that did the repairs agreed it was faulty drivetrain parts, but told me Mazda corporate said it was out of warranty.After repeated attempts to contact the customer experience center both by phone and email, over several months, I could never get past their first line of customer service to make my case to anyone with any authority to review my case. On several occasions they indicated they would get back to me, but never did. I would recommend against buying a new or preowned Mazda. They do not stand behind their product as evidenced by the initial faulty drivetrain and lack of customer support.- Steve

Once we agreed on the price, the car was delivered to us in poor condition, the paint felt like sandpaper (it was not prepped right) and we found cookie crumbs in the cup holder and candy wrappers under the drivers seat. By the time transaction was done it was late (about 9:30PM), but even with the poor outside lighting, we noticed defects in the paint on the hood of the vehicle. The dealer assured us they would take care of it. It was late, and even with all these issues we took the car home, trusting that all would be made right. I could look past the cookie crumbs and the candy wrappers, but in daylight the next day, multiple defects in the paint were very apparent.We took the car back to the dealer, they had a Mazda rep look at it. It was determine that the defects were under the clear coat of the paint, but they were severe enough to do anything about. The dealer offered after some complaining to repaint the hood (could not guarantee it would match) or get us a VISA gift card for $500. As I was pretty fed up with the dealer, we opted for the VISA gift card. It took about 6 weeks and lots of calls, but what finally arrived from Mazda was a Mazda gift card, good for only 1 year, but for Mazda mechanical repairs only. What good is $500 of credit for repairs on a brand new car that has a 3 year warranty? By the way repairs dont include painting the hood. So now I have a car with defects that came from the factory that no one will do anything about. After multiple complaints, the dealer said, Mazda will make the next 2 lease payments to make it up to us, nothing ever happened. Then the dealer said instead we would receive a $500 check from Mazda. That was at least 4 weeks ago, NOTHING!I wish I could say the story ends here, but it got worse quickly. A couple of weeks after buying the car, a piece of gravel hit the windshield and cracked it so badly - the car is not drivable as the crack is along the drivers side of the windshield and quite large. The insurance company authorized a replacement ASAP. This was in early July. Turns out Mazda does not have any replacement windshields anywhere in the US as the model is so new, yet they continue in production somehow. It is now almost 3 MONTHS later and still no windshields available, no date as to when it will be, and no offer of help from the dealer at all.We have made multiple payments on this car since early July, have not been able to drive it and have defects that are permanent in the paint before we even got it home. The dealer not only did not keep the commitment of compensation for the paint, but offered us no help when we found out the back ordered windshield could take months to come in (and it has). We even checked into aftermarket windshields, but were told, they are also not yet available.As a consumer, I believe there is an implied understanding when you buy a new car, that typical replacement parts will be available, clearly not the case with Mazda and the 2016 CX5. We will never look at another Mazda, not because of what happened, but rather because the company and the dealer offered no help. I called Mazda corporate helpline many times. They dont return phone calls and when you do finally get someone, they tell you, you need to be patient, and we value your business, right!

In July of 2015 a weird noise began coming from the area of my turbo. Brought it to the Mazda dealership and was told it was probably a wrist pin. Brought my car to another dealership and it turned out a few bolts between the turbo and manifold had broke and the gap was causing the whistling noise. Had to pay for bolt replacement out of pocket (over $1000 because they also insisted on replacing the seals on the turbo). November of 2015 my second Turbo went. I was over the Warrantied mileage and warranty was denied. The turbo warranty from previous installation had also expired after 12 months. Replaced turbo at my own expense. January of 2016 the car flashed a check engine and oil light. Pulled over and immediately shut the car down. After having the car towed to a repair place it was discovered that the crankshaft bearing had gone bad and destroyed the motor. I basically have a worthless car with only 67 thousand miles on it.

Mazda Corporation in Canada has a huge problem that seems to be growing week over week. I purchased a new Mazda CX5 10 months ago. The vehicle drives fantastic. It just needs a lot of TLC. Paint is not evenly distributed leaving visible color distortions. Front bumper is not, absolutely not, suitable for winter driving in Canada. I went through a spray - car was to get the salt and grime off the car and the bumper just cracked. Dealer is telling me I hit something... No scuff marks, no other damage than a crack that starts exactly where there is a cut out in the bumper. This is a flaw in the plastic material that the bumper is made of. I will eventually replace the bumper but at $ 1,000.00 it simply is not feasible right now. The infotainment system is cause for long debates with the dealer and on the phone with Mazda Canada customer support. I have also put in a claim at the MTO (Ministry of Transportation in Ontario) to see if they are willing to see the point of a defective infotainment unit that requires constant attention during driving. USB drives simply crash, Bluetooth becomes grayed out. Needs a complete disconnect from the battery to resolve (plus reprogramming). Dealer states that they did a firmware upgrade but only tested for the GPS system and, since I keep that up to date (I had to purchase maps to be updated quarterly), it showed on the bill that the firmware already was up to date. That is not the firmware!! The infotainment also has a firmware that can be checked by pressing radio on/off and audio at the same time. Since the dealer made a statement that the firmware is up to date, Mazda Canada does not want to respond to any flaws or changes that need to be made. Music volume is just unacceptable. I had to crank the sound to 30 before I can even hear the speakers and there is a constant hiss at lower music levels. Dont even think of driving with the roof open. You will have to crank it all the way up to 45 or 50 (65 is the max). I purchased the GS model for this. The sunroof is a much welcome tool in keeping the temps in the car at bay in the summer. The OEM tires will not last for more than 40,000 KM by the way. Last but not least: the dealer will only work on any TSB (technical service bulletin) when the customer insist. It is not done voluntarily. Mazda Canada still claims there are no TSBs for the car - if asked why they are so secretive about this, they claim that all works as it was meant to be. The car, in their eyes, is perfect. In my opinion, the many test reports are flawed and I have also contacted these sites and producers of the shows with the facts. Also the Dealers insist you take the rust proofing and if you do the car will be ready in 4 days. I refused ant it took 2 weeks with the 3M protection film still missing. These tricks will be pressed upon the buyer when I thought I was done with the purchase. I have deep regrets I purchased the car. I will zoom-zoom for a little longer but this car will not last the full 10 years my (t)rusty Ford Taurus did. I do not recommend anyone to purchase a Mazda CX5 if peace of mind is important.

Up until now I have been a loyal Honda customer. I researched this car and heard a lot of good things about it. However after having owned a Mazda CX5 and seeing how Mazda has a total disregard for their customers, I will NEVER purchase a Mazda again.

So basically we are back to good old radio only. Also one of the entry keys failed which is about $300 to replace. Sealing rubber on the driver window side is leaking and creates a lot of cabin noise. That said the car drives nice although it is a gas guzzler. So if you are looking to Zoom without any media and lots of wind noise the Mazda CX-9 is what you are looking for. Called the Mazda Experience line but they simply say you are out of warranty so regardless of what is wrong with your car you are paying.

One hour later comes the flatbed tow truck and I asked the driver if I could ride along and so I did. We get to Koeppel Mazda Queens NY. I tell the tow truck driver that I am going inside to let the manager know that we are dropping off my car. The manager Andrew ** steps outside with me and as the tow truck is backing up and bringing my new car down it scrapes and damaged my new Thule bike rack. Andrew the manager tells him to stop what he was doing and that the car needs to be lowered on the street. At this point the driver is getting frustrated and levels his flatbed truck in which he forgets to put the rear straps and chain hooks on the rear of my NEW CAR and also forgets to put my NEW Cx-5 off off of neutral and failed to put it in park and Failed to deploy the emergency parking brakes on my car. He then drives forwards, fast and slamming on his brakes causing my Brand New (Mazda CX-5 GT with Tech package) to shoot forwards and crashing into the back of his tow truck causing front end damage. Three Mazda certified workers seen the accident including the service department. Manager Andrew ** and I were all in shock on what just happened. Andrew and I took photos of the damaged SUV and Andrew told me that he would take care of the report. I advised Andrew that I don want my car back due to the loss of my resale value caused by Mazda. On 8/14/2015 I stopped by the repair shop that was fixing my car to get some things I left in the car. To my horror my car was in the back of the shop dirty with my whole SUV front end sitting on top of my cars roof, not to mention both my front windows was rolled down getting dust and dirt all over the place and not to mention there goes my new car smell and the body shop wasnt even certified Mazda repair shop. I know that when a new car rolls off the assembly line everything is calibrated, the transducer in the front of my Mazda emblem with the laser on my windshield work hand in hand so that my auto brake assist work properly. Now my new car will have a damage report on carfax that I did not cause, all Mazdas fault. Why did my new car did not want to start in the first place? It was only two months old with just 2000 miles on it. Mazda Roadside assistance contracted the tow truck company NYC Tire Auto Care Inc. The incident happened in front of multiple employees of Mazda (Manager: Andrew ** (Service department associate: Izzy ** and two others from Parts Department that will vouch what happened. I will now lose thousands of dollars on my trade in when I decide to trade inmy 2016 CX-5. I stated that I dont want my car back to every Mazda personnel I spoke with due to the fact that it was Mazdas fault. I just want a brand new CX-5 with everything I put in but sadly I am getting the runaround. Even my insurance company called in my behalf and they also getting the runaround.

Without the CMU chip you can’t play the radio. This is not something that should fail after 3 1/2 years. I had to spend $1500 so I could listen to the radio. You get what you pay for. The driver door wasnt put on correctly. The headlight seals have all leaked. One was replaced under warranty and one not. After the warranty was up, I was told I have an oil leak. Its the major seal and will be about $1200.00 to pull the engine and transmission to replace it. When I made a comment at Lee Johnson Kirkland dealership where I bought the car, I was told all new cars are made cheap. The best is yet to come. I almost lost my hand. The hood came down on it and actually latched. I was trapped for about an hour until I finally broke off the wiper arm and pried my hand out. Its badly smashed and I have numbness in my hand but Im thankful to have my fingers. My car also has the recall for the sticking throttle. I got the recall letter in August. Its now the middle of November and Im told theres only parts for 04 models and older. They have made modifications to unlatch and open a trunk from the inside and outside but beware, if that hood latches close, there’s no way out except the release located in the driver’s side. Seriously, 26,000. I don’t think I will purchase another product from them ever again.

MAZDA 3 SkyActive - I have only 2200 miles on this auto and it has a peculiar issue. When driving at various speeds, when you press the brake to slow down and stop, this car revs from roughly 1000 RPM to almost 3,000 RPM. This causes the car not to want to stop even when pressing down on the brake. This car is dangerous to drive for wife and myself due to this various serious issue. This has happened about 6 times this year and I bought the car new. I keep it parked most of the time of having the fear of creating an accident if I cant stop and hit the car in front of me.I even took out the floor mat in front, checked the front floor for object, and clearances and everything looks good. I even am careful to the footwear that I drive in so that wont cause any problems. My wife refuses to drive the car at all. I have taken this car into service 2 times and the dealer told me that there was no apparent problem and had no issues. They did say that they had to adjust the engine a bit to keep it running smoother, case closed. Not so! This keeps occurring and I want to know if this has been an ongoing issue with this tin can or is the car I own a lemon? This is a very, very dangerous situation and if no one gets killed or hurt it could become a case for a class action lawsuit like Toyota a few years ago. I have never had this type of problem happen with any car that I have previously owned. The problem about should be brought to someones attention for everyone out there.

I have a 2009 Mazda 6. I have replaced pretty much all of the bulbs at some point in the 4 years Ive owned this car (headlights, brake lights, turn signals, etc.). In total, I would estimate probably 10-12 times. A few I did have done at Valvoline when I had a quick oil change and they noticed a bulb out. But I have also had it to the dealer several times pleading with them to figure out why the car keeps blowing bulbs. Their answer every time just the bulb and bulbs blow which means I have to pay for it because warranty doesnt cover unless its a defect. Ive owned several other cars both new and old and never had to replace more than 1-2 bulbs in my life. Same goes for every single person I talk about this. Why is it everyone thinks theres something more going on except the dealer? So I dropped it off again this morning and they are already trying to tell me last bulb I replaced was passenger side and this time its driver side, so probably just the bulb again but they will do a diagnostic and my charge will be a minimum of $90 for that. Very dissatisfied with Mazda and the dealer (Jeff Schmidt Mazda in Beavercreek, Ohio). Very poor customer service. Do they really think its okay to have to replace a bulb in your car every 3 months?! I will never own another Mazda or buy a car from this dealer again. I strongly advise anyone reading this to do the same.

Engine Failure. My wifes car that we both really enjoyed until recently. I did a lot of research on this vehicle before we purchased it and the price was excellent with the Tech option. All was ok until a few weeks ago. Started noticing the smell of burnt oil in the cabin when we were stopped at an intersection. Came home, looked under the vehicle and didnt notice anything. This continued on each time we used it (we carpool so it doesnt get driven daily) and then eventually I noticed oil spots on our driveway. Thought it may be either dripping from the filter or the bolt so I decided to do an oil change which I noticed that there was an excessive amount of oil present on the underside of the chassis and also in the plastic shroud that must be removed to access the oil pan and filter. The bolt and filter were on tight so the oil was coming from another location.Drove the vehicle into work the following day and again the smell of burning oil (like oil that would get onto the exhaust) was present when the vehicle was running but at a stop. Parked in a spot where there were no oil spots and I went into work. Roughly 3 hours later I had a look at the vehicle and noticed a 5 round oil spot under the vehicle. Contacted the Mazda dealership and drove it in for an appointment that afternoon. They had the vehicle for 2 hours and I came there after work to check up on what they found. First words out of the technician were we ordered you a new engine as this one has a porous block. Not sure if the block was porous or cracked as one would think that after 31000kms it would have been evident sooner.Regardless, the dealership provided a replacement vehicle (Mazda 3) and have indicated that this will be repaired once they receive a new engine as they were on back order. Dealership also indicated that this is not the first 2.5L with this issue found on a 2018 CX5. Ive owned over 30 vehicles so far and this is the first time Ive had this type of failure. Needless to say, Im not too happy with the reliability demonstrated by a Japanese built vehicle.
