Mazda has always been a brand to cleverly inject sportiness into mainstream vehicles but retained a certain level of premium appeal with sleek and attractive styling. For 2022, such a tradition continues in vehicles like the latest Mazda3 hatchback which received a redesign for the 2019 model year and offers up a potent 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that touts as much as 320 lb-ft of torque for class-leading performance. The Mazda3 hatchback has long been a vehicle that’s overlooked by many but has a loyal following and newfound appreciation when people discover such a vehicle. The new Mazda3 hatchback offers a choice of two engines, the base naturally aspirated 2.5-liter 4-cylinder with 186 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque, and my top-trimmed test vehicle’s 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder that’s good for up to 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque with premium fuel. Without premium fuel, the engine outputs 227 horsepower but still manages to have a substantial 310 lb-ft of torque figure. Mazda has hung onto what works in mating the turbocharged engine to a proven 6-speed automatic transmission that feels direct without much use of its torque converter, which is one of many sporty traits of the Mazda3. The Mazda3 Hatchback 2.5 Turbo in the top Premium Plus trim is quite the eager vehicle with a respectable sporty attitude from its turbocharged engine. The turbocharged engine has a strong surge of torque without much lag combined with a firm and responsive driving characteristic that’s welcoming for enthusiasts. That sporty character may not be for everyone mostly due to the firm ride quality that’s unique to the Mazda3 Hatchback, which can become a bit bouncy at times. Out on the road, the Mazda3 Hatchback Turbo is lively and tends to avoid settling at a steady speed, somewhat due to the turbocharged engine having so much torque and just 6 gears to play with. The Mazda3 hatchback is mostly compliant, and some will enjoy what feels like a sport mode that’s always active even though it has a separate sport drive mode that keeps the gearing low and revs higher even though it only has the 6 gears to work with. Thanks to the remarkable SKYACTIV-G technology, Mazda can get respectable fuel mileage out of the Mazda3 with the turbocharged engine even though it has power numbers coupled with all-wheel-drive and a 6-speed automatic transmission. The EPA estimated figures for the new Mazda3 2.5 Turbo Hatchback with its all-wheel-drive come in at 23 mpg city, 31 mpg highway, and 26 mpg combined. Having all-wheel-drive and a G-Vectoring control plus system that electronically adjusts power delivery to shift the power load to the proper wheels needed is a nice touch to help balance the expected front-wheel-drive bias of the Mazda3. Taking off from a stop by power braking is fun even though there’s no dedicated launch control mode. The front wheels may break loose just after a hit of turbo lag, but the Mazda3 pulls strong and dashes to 60 mph from a standstill in just 5.5 seconds. The interior of the Mazda3 in the top-level Premium Plus trim is near-luxury where Mazda doesn’t skimp on attention to detail and a nice contrast of colors that are pleasing to the eyes. The cabin is tidy and somewhat minimalistic in a way with the proper physical controls for the automatic dual-zone climate control. The gauge cluster with a center area digital screen blends well with the large analog gauges on either side. The 8.8-inch center infotainment screen, which is no longer a touchscreen when the vehicle is stationary (a common characteristic in Mazda vehicles in previous years), also has a minimalistic approach to its menu sets and has a slight learning curve to operate from the controller knob and function buttons behind the gear shifter. The system operates somewhat like BMW’s iDrive, which isn’t a bad thing. The seating area is decent, but you only have the confines of a compact hatchback to work with. Thankfully, the front heated seats have a large amount of adjustability and prove to be comfortable yet supportive in the right places for a sporty compact hatchback. In the back, the seats are limited on space but offer just enough room for two adults provided they are not 6 feet tall or more. The cargo room is short and somewhat smaller than its competition but versatile if you choose to fold down the rear 60/40-split seatbacks. Overall, the interior is a level above the Mazda3’s competition with a premium environment that’s laced with several soft-touch areas and a limited number of hard plastics. The sporty appeal of the Mazda3 Hatchback doesn’t’ end with its endearing driving quality but extends to the unique styling, which is quite attractive and appealing to enthusiasts from its darkened trim, dark front grille, rear hatch spoiler, and black 18-inch alloy wheels. There’s even a neat touch to the way the LED blinker lights illuminate with a subtle fade-away. To add to the premium theme, the Mazda3 Turbo Premium Plus can be had with leather-trimmed seats, a 360-degree view monitor camera system, navigation system, color heads-up display, and a plethora of active safety features including the standard features of radar cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, driver attention alert, and high beam control for the adaptive LED headlights. The Mazda3 has been one of my more surprising test vehicles in the past year considering the amount of equipment that’s wrapped up in a sporty compact hatchback package that also brings its premium traits to the forefront. The price of the new 2022 Mazda 3 Hatchback starts at just $22,750 with the less-powerful base engine but can climb to $36,010 including a $1,015 delivery fee for my loaded test Mazda3 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus AWD test vehicle.

I purchased a Mazda RX8 in 2004. Since the date of purchase, I have been experiencing many problems with the vehicle. To this date, the vehicle only has 40,000 miles. If the vehicle remains idle for 3 days or more it has to be towed in for repairs. The dashboard panel goes blank. Now, the dealership is telling me the cause of the problem is the engine failing compression test and thats a cost for the consumer when I have complained about the vehicle since day of purchase. Records shows each time the vehicle been in the job. The vehicle is practically new.

I was driving to the city and suddenly I start hearing a faint tapping/knocking sound at low revolution per minute (rpm). I continued to drive to the city and took care of my business, and then came back home at the end of the day with no problems besides the fact that there was always that faint knocking sound at low rpm.The next day, I brought it to my local mechanic. He said the car is drivable, but I should bring it to Mazda because it is under warranty, and they should take care of it. I had the car towed to them because I didnt have the time to drive there, and I had free towing from Mazda since my vehicle is still under warranty.I called them every day until the third day they told me that there is a hole in my engine and oil was leaking out, and they wanted to see my oil change receipts. When I heard them tell me that, I said immediately that they must have the wrong car because my car came in running with no problems that they stated. There was no oil on the floor. I had checked the oil before it came to them, and it was perfect. My car was drivable. I obliged to their request because Mazda is a big corporation that must surely work honestly with their customers. I also figured that they were exaggerating when they said all of this. I sent them the information. After calling them repeatedly, they finally told me a week later that my receipts looked sketchy” and that Mazda Corporation wouldnt cover the warranty. I proceeded to tell them that their claim is totally false and impossible. I had the oil changed every 3-4 months, approximately 2500 miles (I drive locally and take the train to school). Then they proceeded to send it again to Mazda Corporation after I told them that there is a problem on their part. Again, they denied the warranty work. So, I went down to pick up the car after three weeks because I need my car. When I turned on the car, it sounded like a tractor and then would die on its own. I tried to start it up again and give it some gas, and the rpm fluctuated, then it dies. It was clearly not the condition that it was when I brought to them. The check engine light was on, and they said that I told them that it was knocking. My car was not drivable; it was in significantly worse shape and value than when I brought it to them. They gave me the runaround the whole time I was trying to correspond with them. The assistant manager, Jim, had a regular advisor deal with the situation, which is naive and lacking in responsibility on his part. This advisor just started two weeks prior and clearly didnt know anything. I asked him how this was possible. He kept on saying that he simply started two weeks ago, and he couldnt answer my questions. So, I said to him, “Can you get me someone who can get answers because you clearly cant help me.” He then raised his voice and made threats; so, I did the same. Then the manager came in and took over partially. He told me to call Mazda customer service, which I did right then and there. The customer service representative told me that I needed to deal with the dealership. After going back and forth between the dealership and the customer service, I left without my car because I didnt anticipate having to tow my car.The following week, I paid for a towing service to bring my vehicle to my local mechanic. I brought it to my mechanic locally, and after looking it over it, it looked like they drained the oil, and ran the engine at high rpm until the problem got worse enough for them to tell what the problem was. They obviously have done this many times and are professionals at this. They know exactly what to say, and what story to stick by. They also put a dent on my car that I know for a fact wasnt there when I gave it to them. I took pictures of it.

The engine blew at 40000 miles! Of course, a refurbished engine was placed. This was done along with a new clutch (good sales job from the dealer). Of course the new engine caused failure of all old parts such as coils, pumps, etc. None of this was covered. Ben from Complaints was programmed to be anything from helpful stating, Mazda is not responsible for any of the problems that occurred along with the engine replacement. Caveat emptor! Mazda/Ford does not care!

Mazda 2009 - I have had my 1st Mazda since 2010 July. Well, first time I bought a car that isnt a Toyota. I have had both head lights go out, shocks in rear done twice, tie rod end alignment done twice and tires twice. My engine would accelerate for days past 15 miles. My brakes got stuck; I couldnt get off the expressway and missed my stop. I’m still under extended warranty of which doesnt cover any of these things. I took it to 4 shops to be looked at, Goodyear, Midas and Mazda, all of which can’t find anything wrong with this ** car.

We bought a fully loaded CX5 in 8/14. It was the best decision weve made. Because of my back problems, I need to have a seat thats adjustable as well as an upright position. The CX5 provides that for me. Last summer we drove across the country and depending on my back, I was able to make adjustments to make it very comfortable for when I drove as well as being a passenger. The safety features such as the blind spot monitoring, the rear camera, and the automatic lights and windshield wipers were so helpful when driving. I felt so safe in this car. Mileage was good too, the car still has under 12K and were doing 26.7 mpg total. My only negative is that the rear hatch/door is not power controlled. In a fully loaded car I wouldve expected that, but it was not an option. I do want to note about some of the other reviews here - people need to explain their problems better. Owners also have to be realistic. How one drives a car does affect brakes. Front end Collisions only trigger front air bags (not side ones). Injuries can be caused by not wearing seat belts. And yes, sometimes cars have defects, but tens of thousands of cars are made of a particular model each year. A few will have problems from the get go. This is why many states have lemon laws. But if 5 people report the same problem, this is not a defect. Most likely your car got that 1 in 25,000 bad part. In that situation, if you can definitely prove it was Not your fault, you may get the maker to pay for the repair. But usually you cant, so hope the bill is low - that’s all.

As indicated in the service record when I got my first oil change, I had 3,000 miles on my 2012 Mazda 5 when I first complained to a Mazda dealer that my car would wobble when going forward into a right turn and in reverse when making a left turn. The service people said they could not recreate the problem as stated on the work order, but it would mysteriously go away for a while when I complained during multiple oil changes. Recently, at 25,000 miles, the service manager at this dealership finally told me my rotors were out of round so they were going to ground them down to make them straight. I requested they be replaced with new rotors but they said no. The dealer who sold me the car with the defective rotors said no and Mazda Headquarters said see the dealer who sold me the car.The dealer I bought the car from said its an issue of wear and he doesnt do warranty work unless hes paid by Mazda. His service mgr. said he didnt feel or see a problem during a test drive after the rotors were filed down so they refused to replace them. If it was an issue of wear, the problem would not have been occurring since I bought the car. Filing down the rotors mostly eliminated the problem, thus indicating the rotors were bad from the start. To make sure the dealer saw information about the wheels wobbling in formal complaints on paperwork from the 3,000- and 25,000-mile oil changes, I filed a complaint with the state. They sent me a notice that the dealer said it was a wear problem and they would check with Mazda Headquarters!!Now Im wondering if the State of Michigan Attorney General has the will to tackle big business. I sent them every piece of information related to the problem and I would like my rotors replaced. Anybody out there have any ideas, similar problems?

Back in June of 2015 we purchased a new 2016 Mazda CX5 from Fremont Mazda in Fremont CA. Once we agreed on the price, the car was delivered to us in poor condition, the paint felt like sandpaper (it was not prepped right) and we found cookie crumbs in the cup holder and candy wrappers under the drivers seat. By the time transaction was done it was late (about 9:30PM), but even with the poor outside lighting, we noticed defects in the paint on the hood of the vehicle. The dealer assured us they would take care of it. It was late, and even with all these issues we took the car home, trusting that all would be made right. I could look past the cookie crumbs and the candy wrappers, but in daylight the next day, multiple defects in the paint were very apparent. We took the car back to the dealer, they had a Mazda rep look at it. It was determine that the defects were under the clear coat of the paint, but they were severe enough to do anything about. The dealer offered after some complaining to repaint the hood (could not guarantee it would match) or get us a VISA gift card for $500. As I was pretty fed up with the dealer, we opted for the VISA gift card. It took about 6 weeks and lots of calls, but what finally arrived from Mazda was a Mazda gift card, good for only 1 year, but for Mazda mechanical repairs only. What good is $500 of credit for repairs on a brand new car that has a 3 year warranty? By the way repairs dont include painting the hood. So now I have a car with defects that came from the factory that no one will do anything about. After multiple complaints, the dealer said, Mazda will make the next 2 lease payments to make it up to us, nothing ever happened. Then the dealer said instead we would receive a $500 check from Mazda. That was at least 4 weeks ago, NOTHING!I wish I could say the story ends here, but it got worse quickly. A couple of weeks after buying the car, a piece of gravel hit the windshield and cracked it so badly - the car is not drivable as the crack is along the drivers side of the windshield and quite large. The insurance company authorized a replacement ASAP. This was in early July. Turns out Mazda does not have any replacement windshields anywhere in the US as the model is so new, yet they continue in production somehow. It is now almost 3 MONTHS later and still no windshields available, no date as to when it will be, and no offer of help from the dealer at all.We have made multiple payments on this car since early July, have not been able to drive it and have defects that are permanent in the paint before we even got it home. The dealer not only did not keep the commitment of compensation for the paint, but offered us no help when we found out the back ordered windshield could take months to come in (and it has). We even checked into aftermarket windshields, but were told, they are also not yet available. As a consumer, I believe there is an implied understanding when you buy a new car, that typical replacement parts will be available, clearly not the case with Mazda and the 2016 CX5. We will never look at another Mazda, not because of what happened, but rather because the company and the dealer offered no help. I called Mazda corporate helpline many times. They dont return phone calls and when you do finally get someone, they tell you, you need to be patient, and we value your business, right!

I purchased a 2008 Mazda CX7 Grand Touring turbo in 2011 at 32K from CarMax. I was very happy with the vehicle and maintained it appropriately with oil changes etc. I am now at 78k Dec. 2014 and without warning the car started to make a loud noise and would not accelerate over 40 miles. I called CarMax about my extended warranty and was told it expired at 75K and I was at 78K. The car was taken to a reputable mechanic and when he pulled the engine down there was a massive amount of sludge on the engine resulting in cylinder head, timing belt, transmission damage. It appeared the car wasnt maintained. The engine has poor circulation of oil and although I just had an oil change 2 weeks prior to this incident it looked as if there wasnt any oil in the engine. It is irreparable. I still owe $9,000.00 on the vehicle and cant drive it. I just had hip replacement surgery and I have a disabled brother. We both depend on this vehicle and I am caught in a bad situation. It appears Mazda is aware of this problem per the complaints logged on the NHTSA website for the same make and model indicating engine problems and Mazda ignoring this issue. If I give back the car I still owe money!!! I cant afford to pay for a car and have to get one also. Buyers beware of buying a Mazda!! There is a hidden problem the company knows about and will not make good on something that they know is wrong to consumers.

The Mazda CX9 (2008) has 51,000 miles only. An oil leak was noticed the summer of 2011. After several days, the dealer diagnosed it as a rear main seal failure. The dealer replaced the seal (having the car for close to two weeks). The car continued to leak oil this fall (2011). The dealer contacted Mazda’s headquarters and they recommended replacing the transmission, which the dealer did. The vehicle continued to leak oil during the winter/spring of 2012. The dealer claims it is the rear main seal (dealer currently have had the vehicle for 1 week). Wouldnt the main seal have been replaced with the new transmission? Other issues include two sets of breaks, tie rod, electrical overhaul, and vacuum hose problem.

I have a 2009 Mazda 6. I have replaced pretty much all of the bulbs at some point in the 4 years Ive owned this car (headlights, brake lights, turn signals, etc.). In total, I would estimate probably 10-12 times. A few I did have done at Valvoline when I had a quick oil change and they noticed a bulb out. But I have also had it to the dealer several times pleading with them to figure out why the car keeps blowing bulbs. Their answer every time just the bulb and bulbs blow which means I have to pay for it because warranty doesnt cover unless its a defect. Ive owned several other cars both new and old and never had to replace more than 1-2 bulbs in my life. Same goes for every single person I talk about this. Why is it everyone thinks theres something more going on except the dealer? So I dropped it off again this morning and they are already trying to tell me last bulb I replaced was passenger side and this time its driver side, so probably just the bulb again but they will do a diagnostic and my charge will be a minimum of $90 for that. Very dissatisfied with Mazda and the dealer (Jeff Schmidt Mazda in Beavercreek, Ohio). Very poor customer service. Do they really think its okay to have to replace a bulb in your car every 3 months?! I will never own another Mazda or buy a car from this dealer again. I strongly advise anyone reading this to do the same.

We are a non-profit agency that owns a 2000 Mazda minivan to transport clients. A driver lost the key to the van, our only key. The van was running fine and we have found this to be a very reliable vehicle. Because the key must be programmed to the ignition, the van had to be towed to the dealer. Several keys were ordered, but we were told they were defective. Finally, a good key was reprogrammed, but the van wouldnt start. So, we were told we needed an immobilizer unit. More delay and now the bill had risen to $1,100. Once the immobilizer unit was installed, the van still wouldnt start and we were told we needed an instrument cluster. Another $1,400. That was a month ago. A defective part was sent from Mazda, followed by the wrong part. We still dont have our van and the dealer doesnt have the replacement part. It has been two months. I have called Mazda customer assistance twice. No help. The situation is completely unacceptable and yet we feel unable to do anything to rectify it. What if the dealer has incorrectly diagnosed the problem? We have no way to know until the instrument cluster finally arrives (we hope) and is installed. If this really is the fault of Mazda Corporate and their supply chain for parts, something needs to be fixed. Im wondering if others have had this kind of experience.

In a previous post of about one month ago, I stated that the compressor had gone out on my new 2016 Mazda 6 GT. Can you imagine this, the dealer repaired it 4 weeks ago. Now its in the shop again for the same thing. Compressor/air conditioning system went out. This car has about 3000 miles on it. I contacted Mazda on all levels because I want a new car. I am still waiting to hear from the dealership. I currently have their loaner. Trust me. This is so very frustrating!

A word to the wise, if you have a mechanical problem check to see what issues Mazda may be extending warranty coverage. From experience, dealerships and Mazda provide no foreknowledge to a problem with faulty manufacturing issues that are covered under an extended warranty. On my daughters 2012 CX9 there was a factory problem with a brake line. Dealer quoted over $800 repair cost and never informed us that this problem was covered under extended warranty. I happened to find out by internet search, it was a warranty covered issue and we still fell within extended warranty time and mileage limits. She now is told the AWD is not functioning due to a faulty factory power transfer unit. There was and still is no indication by any warning light or anything that a problem with the AWD occurred. Unfortunately, the extended warranty time limit expired 6 months ago. We have no idea when the AWD failed and neither does Mazda dealership. I can see that this is going to be difficult to get this covered because no one can tell if it failed under the warranty limits (we are still within the mileage limit). This is a $1500 repair quote. I think if Mazda has knowledge of factory failures this information should be made more readily available to consumers. Or better yet MAKE YOUR DAMN CARS BETTER!!!

I purchased a new Mazda CX9 in 2008. It was delivered in June of that year. Since then, my husband who is a mechanic has performed the oil changes and tire rotations. We had our local garage perform the maintenance. My car, at just over 3 years, just crossed the 60,000 mile mark - 60,508 to be exact. The drive train failed. I do not understand how a car could be running fine one week and as soon as it crosses the magic number it can not run. My husband spoke with our dealership, and they wouldnt even discuss options that he could look into himself. Now I have an undriveable piece of metal sitting in the driveway, while I try and pull together the several thousand dollars necessary to make it run. I am very disappointed at the lack of assistance and customer service from Mazda. I would very strongly recommend not buying a new vehicle from Mazda ever. Any company that will promise you the world and then basically thumb their nose at you should not be allowed to operate.

I own a 2006 Mazda 6. I purchased the vehicle in September of 08 with 20,000 miles, and all remaining warranty in force. In June of 2011, the check engine light comes on, and the engine begins to make a loud noise. I immediately had the car towed to the dealer, who notified me the next day that I will need a new engine. At this point, the car has 42,000 miles on it. The cost will be $6,600 for a brand new engine; they will only provide warranty for one (1) year, and because my warranty was up a few months prior, they will not stand behind it.While speaking to somebody from the Mazda corporate office, I was given only given a “sorry about your luck” attitude. As a result of the cost, I sent the vehicle to an independent mechanic, who replaced the engine with a used engine that has warranty for three years. I was also informed that there is a well known issue with Mazda engines, but the company refuses to stand behind their product, or remedy the problem.I dont think its unrealistic to expect a vehicle to last longer than 5 years (that only has 42,000 miles, and with only 20,000 miles is mine). Clearly by just reading problems posted online, there are many issues with Mazda products. Judging from my experience, speaking to somebody from their corporate office who would neither allow me to speak to anyone with authority, or offer any resolution to the problem to keep a customer, I certainly will not be purchasing any of their products in the future, and I would advise anyone I know to look elsewhere.

I have owned a Mazda since 1983. With different models, I call their products “chick vehicles”. All you ever had to do was change the oil. I own a 2007 Mazda Tribute. The driver door wasnt put on correctly. The headlight seals have all leaked. One was replaced under warranty and one not. After the warranty was up, I was told I have an oil leak. Its the major seal and will be about $1200.00 to pull the engine and transmission to replace it. When I made a comment at Lee Johnson Kirkland dealership where I bought the car, I was told all new cars are made cheap. The best is yet to come. I almost lost my hand. The hood came down on it and actually latched. I was trapped for about an hour until I finally broke off the wiper arm and pried my hand out. Its badly smashed and I have numbness in my hand but Im thankful to have my fingers. My car also has the recall for the sticking throttle. I got the recall letter in August. Its now the middle of November and Im told theres only parts for 04 models and older. They have made modifications to unlatch and open a trunk from the inside and outside but beware, if that hood latches close, there’s no way out except the release located in the driver’s side. Seriously, 26,000. I don’t think I will purchase another product from them ever again.

My 2017 Mazda CX-3 has rust problems on the roof and hatch panels within 4 years. The smallest stone chips will lead to migration of rust under the paint causing bubbling. The underside and the inside of the hatch rusts even without stone chips. The bottom inside weld of the hatch rusts. This was not sprayed when I had the car rust proofed (so request it). Mazda declined my claim under the 7 year rust perforation warranty. They are still not choosing to design their cars for the North American rust belt. Similar complaints can be found on internet forums. Otherwise this is a good car.

Front Axle on 2005 Mazda 6 - I just drove from Clemmons to Wendover Avenue in Greensboro and suddenly the front of the car sounds like I drove over a boulder and the engine fell out. I managed to coast to Sheets Gas Station. The car would turn on but would not go forward in drive or reverse. Called a tow truck and took it to the Mazda Dealership. The front axle is broken... I could not imagine how though... have not run into anything or rear ended anyone. I just had the axle worked on in Hickory. Not happy but blessed it was not the transmission.

I went in for an oil change and full circle inspection, but little did I know that Ill be unhappy with service. About a week or so later, I actually took notice that a/c was not working as good as it did before serviced by Mazda, and as a normal routine of checking fluid levels, I also noticed that the oil was low. On 9/25/11, I called the Mazda service department and spoke to Lee. I informed him the exact information and he told me to bring my car in for service. So, I schedule an appointment for 9/27/11 at 2:15 pm.I went in just to be told that in order for Mazda to service the car, I would have to pay $129 for the a/c and that if oil was short, I would not have a problem unless it was below low. I did explain to him that my husband had to put in a quarter of oil because it was so low. He suggested that I bring it back for another oil change and they would deduct a quarter off the amount. He was not willing to consider by chance that air was leaked out of the car by Mazda technician and not enough oil was put in the car by Mazda. He never stated over the phone about paying for them to check a/c or anything. I drove from another city just for poor service once again.

Got the Mazda Tribute secondhand really cheap... runs really well... have not had any issues except flat tire and the key not wanting to come out of the ignition. Also, the gear shift sticks but I attribute that to the previous owner letting her kids accidentally spill a soda on it. It has grey color... spacious design... has cruise control that works great. I love any kind of SUV/Crossover... they have so much more room than even a large car... great for trips... modern and sleek design. But I wish it had better quality interior material and design. The car is secondhand and she had kids but they would not have been able to do the damage quite so easily otherwise.

Had vehicle towed in for noise in upper engine area (VVT). Towed in not to do any damage. They took off oil pan (was tapping not knocking) now this is a 2009 Mazdaspeed 3 with a k&n air filter and a street unit blow off valve no big changes and no issues at all besides the tapping. Well long story short, they took the bearing out (crank) and when i said put it back together i need a second opinion. Had it towed to another Mazda dealer who found out there was a problem with the covered VVT valve issues but did not cover the engine (34,600 miles) because of the air filter and BOV. I called BS but some stupid fool tech said my car was highly modified (what!!!) so they did not cover it and i paid out of pocket $6000 plus for a new engine. And yes i have video and written proof that they put the bearings back in backwards and ruined the engine for a simple fix. Since then, I do all my own service and have had 0 problems with 86,00 miles with the k&n filter and BOV. Should i be pissed? Yes! But I love my Mazda and I am sure they know they abused this customer with tech experience and knowledge of cars and trucks for 30 years plus and would think they all knew better when it is under warranty. This is where the term Stealership came from. Sad but true. Even worst I am not the type of person to hunt down these fools and drag them in court just to make a point and get my money back. I will (foolish me) hope they learn and turn.

I have called Mazda corp, Mazda Financial as well as the Mazda dealership for some help with no returned phone. They will NOT give me a loaner car because they only give out loaners for service issues. My current position is I have NO car. No idea when it will be fixed. Been very happy with the Mazda 5 for the most part. It drives well, is not too expensive to run, and has not needed many repairs. Also fits nicely into our very tiny one-car garage, which is a definite plus. I choose it because the storage area could hold all of the items I knew I would need to carry there, which was the main reason was shopping for a new vehicle. But I dislike that there is only one keylock, on the drivers door. To open any of the other doors, must first open driver door, then use inside controls to open rest of doors.

My Mother bought a brand new Mazda 626, this was a long time ago. SO long ago, that CNN news was just getting started. My mother was killed in this car while driving home from work, she hit a telephone pole at 45 mph. She was removed from the car and taken to the hospital where she died shortly thereafter. We were stymied as to what happened. No one knew, then we found out, way down the road, through CNN news that the car had a history of the ignition turning itself off if you had a heavy key ring. Of course there were accidents all over the US many fatal, some just injuries, etc. I found this out about this car, about a year or more after the accident. Recently I did a search on this Mazda 626, and I couldnt find a thing about it. Was all information removed about these cars, what happened, has Mazda fixed this problem? I hope so, as a year ago I bought a Mazda 5 which so far, has been a great little car. It took me 28 years to be able to buy a Mazda. BTW, Hasnt GM just spent a lot of time apologizing to its customers for the same problem? Wonder how many people died in the GM cars? Mazda didnt even apologize.

Today is Feb. 8, 2013 and I bought this car (Mazda 6i Touring 2010) in Oct. 2010. When I purchased this car, Mazda sent me an email with a survey as to how my experience was with the service at the dealership and with the salesman. In the survey, they asked a very clear question if they filled up the tank with fuel. However, after I answered the question as honest as I knew of the thing they were supposed to do which was some negative and some positive, I got Schaumburg Mazda dealer doing things to the car every time I took the car for oil change. The first time, they lost the the bottom bolts of the front suspension lower control arm; then they made the tire lose air so the light for the tires in the cluster will light and the next time they had it for three days. Now, the car does not have traction and every time it spins the wheel because of slippery road. The engine lost power. The suspension does not have a grip to the floor so maybe they even took some suspension parts out. They did more to the car. I had just been honest to their survey and I believed the survey is a snare to the customers so they know who they will target to damage their car. Now, how can I prove the dealer has done things to the car with the performance of the car being diminished? I know if I take the car back to the dealer, they will finally make the car to break down beyond repair and, after the warranty is going to expire, where I can go to have them repair the car and have the absolute confidence the car will last with the care I give the years that it should. Never again will I buy a Mazda car not because they are not good but because the dealer is not honest to their customers. After they get their money, they do not care one bit about you, your car or their business. As a side note, I did talk to Mazda headquarters but it was worse than just to let it alone. Apparently, they are just so arrogant that they have the control of the dealer and they allow those things to happen.

I purchased my vehicle 2 years ago and just recently got to 20,00 miles and had to have the rear disc brake pads replaced because they barely passed inspection. I called the customer service number and they said they would gladly replace them free of charge if I went back to the dealer immediately that day to get it done. I then learned that this is a flaw that some of the CX-5s have including the current models. I leased my vehicle so I will be returning it before the 40,000 miles when it will probably need them again. It is expensive to replace them every 20,000 miles when they should last at LEAST 40,000 miles. If I owned this vehicle who would have to keep replacing them when they wear sooner than they should, ME!!! That is an expense I can not afford.I also have an issue that when you open the back hatch there is not enough light to see what you are doing. I like the way the car handles in the snow, which is why I leased it to begin with, to see how well it did. I like the car and would love to buy another when my lease is up but I dont know if I will because of the expense of replacing the discs every 20,000 miles.

I purchased a 2017 Mazda 6 Sport at Fremont Mazda. So far I absolutely love my car. My salesman was great in having everything ready when I came in to sign I because I had to get back to work by a certain time. My problem is with Mazdas finance department. A little background. The last time I purchased a new car from a dealership was 30 years ago. It was very simple. I was offered upgrades. I declined. No problem. This time around when I got home I Sat and looked over my contract and saw optional service contracts below was Mazda Maintenance $2,150.00. I recall the finance person mentioning oh and you have 5 years free maintenance at any Mazda Service Center in California. My thought is oh that must be the manufactures warranty.I contacted my salesman and Im told its for a optional service contract. I was never offered this optional item, no one said to me we can add this free maintenance service to your purchase for an extra $2,150.00. I was furious. My salesman contacted me. Said if I didnt want it they would remove it and write up a new contract. I went back to the dealership. Signed a new contract. My car payment is now $50.00 a month cheaper. That should have been the end of it but lo & behold I find another optional on my contract in the amount of $795.00 for Debt Cancellation Option Agreement which I googled and is GAP insurance which again I was not asked if I wanted this insurance added to my contract.Oh on the first issue I filed a complaint with the State Attorney Generals Office Consumer Complaints. Today Im waiting for The State Insurances Commissioners Office to call me back and advise me what I should. My real concern with all this is how many other people have been victims of the same and dont know where to ask for help or arent even aware optional items have been added to their contract without their consent!

I came across an EPA federal warranty that stated: Any vehicle with less than 80,000 miles and less than 8 yrs. old is entitled to this EPA warranty on any specified major emission control components. The warranty states that all components are covered and the manufacturer will have to repair the components free of charge. I brought the warranty over to my mechanic to look it over. He stated that he would call Mazda and find out if they will honor this federal warranty. My mechanic spoke with a gentleman named Robert **. He approved the use of the warranty and told the mechanic to have us bring the vehicle over to Mazda. The next day, I paid to have the car towed to Mazda. Robert ** stated that he would call me before he started to give me a price on the repairs. When he called later that afternoon, he gave me a quote of $1,700. This was $300 more than my mechanic. He then called back again and stated that he would drop the cost to $1,345. It is costing me the same price with the warranty as it would have at my mechanics garage, without the warranty. I also had to pay to have the car towed to Mazda. I only brought it over to Mazda because the gentlemen stated he would honor the warranty, and he is charging me more. I feel belittled and taken advantage of.

I have a 5 day old 2018 Mazda CX-9 GT. It is a very good and fun-to-drive SUV. I recently have some issues playing my iPod iTunes playlists from connections to the USB1 and USB2 ports. It is an intermittent problem not recognizing and not able to play the songs from the playlist. It is very frustrating and disappointing considering that I paid top $ for this SUV and I am now faced with this media problem. I will report this to the Mazda dealership first thing in the morning tomorrow since it is barely a week old.

My daughter brought her Mazda Tribute 2002 in for the 6712A Recall, which is something to do with the ABS Braking system. The dealer that did the work was very nice and courteous. She lives in North Dakota and had the work done in North Dakota. She was not having any trouble with the ABS braking system but thought she should have it done for safety reason per the notification she received in the mail. After the work was done, she drove away and a little ways down the road her ABS Light came on. So, she turned around and went back to the dealer that did the work. They checked it over and could not find why the light is coming on. She explained that the light has not coming on before and now after the recall, that is coming on and staying on. The dealer said that she was going to have to pay to do the diagnostic testing any further in order to fix it. They sent my daughter away with a questionable proper working braking system because Mazda didn’t want to pay for a recall procedure that more than likely is the cause of the problem. My daughter went home, parked the vehicle and called the Mazda Headquarters the next day (1-800-222-5500). “I recommend everyone that reads this, call and complain about the response I receive about this situation”. They said exactly the same thing; she would have to pay for any further diagnostic testing to find out the problem. At that point I called to hopefully clarify the ethical thing to do and for the important customer service we all hope to receive in any situation like this. I tried to emphasize to them the level of awareness to the liability issues in sending someone you love dearly home, with possible braking issues. But they stuck with their resolution that she needs to pay to fix it. Never mind the safety for their customers. They said that I may not have anything to do with the recall! Maybe it was just coincidental that the light came on now. They said that if the report comes back that it was caused by the recall they would reimburse her for the correction/diagnostics. Why would she have to pay first for something that was never wrong at the beginning? I told them to put it all back in the way it was. Mazda said they can’t do that due to Liability reasons. Wow! Go Figure. My point is that it’s not the money issue with this, it is the ethics and I would like to see some real customer support in something nowadays.

Mazda 5 has good mileage and storage space in the back. We like the cruise control, volume/mute control on steering wheel and digital dashboard display. We wanted the benefits of a minivan that was easier to maneuver and at a lower price. However, it has poor overall leg room and we cannot use the third row seats for people of all ages and sizes. We want more overall leg room, but especially more room for the third row seats. This would help to carry people of all ages and sizes in all of the passenger seats.

Dealership sucks, vehicle is good! No doubt that I had done my homework. Family I come from ** is Honda lovers and this was first time, I went out and opted for #mazdacanada. Mazda has some great features which Honda was missing and I was forced to cut down ROGUE because 4 cameras were headache and risky than technology developed by #mazda. Honda CRV, I realized is under power engine and whenever you need force/power, you can sense a howling and growling engine. It has overpriced itself and these two were major reason to opt for Mazda CX-5. There is one camera but sensors are used so intelligently that I have to say they made a niche for themselves. As soon as a car is in your blind spot - you dont/should not be looking into camera feeds - in Mazda CX-5, sensors make a yellow light glow in your mirror with a beep indicating that there is vehicle or person in your blind spot. I am over six feet - so entering and exiting is slight... a little bit tight... I have to adjust my posture of entering and exiting from this vehicle. My dealer experience was not as good as I wanted to be - #abbotsfordautomall #automall where #vipmazda is situated, didnt clarify before I reach to finance department that #bumper to bumper warranty is for 3 years only. They try to sell you insurance cover for those extra 2 years. Second bad taste happened, again when I was facing finance department that INSURANCE have to be from the dealer. They informed me that INSURANCE cannot be done from outside brokers or agents! Coming back to vehicle, its comfortable and nice... Ride is good but still cabin is not silent as I was expecting... In total, this is great vehicle which shows innovations and intelligent designing done by Mazda. This is made in Japan and quality of interior is not as bad as we see in Honda CRV. I like the way sensors handles vehicle and its power... when FWD will be changed in AWD is done auto. Thus it saves lot of fuel. I have driven it in fresh snow, black ice and the way vehicle managed traction and control is awesome. Seating is good and boot is comfortable too. I would definitely suggest this vehicle for small family usage - its navigation and sunroof is added features which helps in movement.

I purchased a used 2008 Mazda CX-7 in 2010. The car was in mint condition. A few months later, I would occasionally hear a ticking in the engine but the car ran fine so I thought nothing of it. I kept up with my oil changes. Last Thursday, I started the car and heard a terrible noise in the engine and my check engine light came on. I went home and did some research and discovered that the timing chain on the VVT is a huge issue with this vehicle. Thousands of inquiries and complaints. I researched recalls and discovered that Mazda has extended the warranty to 70,000 miles. My car has 52,000 miles. I called the dealership and they confirmed the extended warranty and told me to bring my car in. He said nothing else except that it would be covered. When I got to the dealership, they inspected the vehicle to make sure it was the timing chain problem before I left it. The service manager came out to the waiting room and asked me to talk with him privately in an office. He showed me a paper towel with what looked like chunky oil. He told me he would not be able to cover my car under the extended warranty because I had sludge and did not maintain my vehicle properly. I took that as an insult and told him I did get my oil changed. He asked me to provide receipts which seems ridiculous to me. Unless someone goes to one oil change place religiously, how do you keep track of all of those receipts? In my case, I have a friend do most of my oil changes. No receipts. I called Mazda direct to complain. They told me that they would forgo the receipts if they had permission to remove the valve cover and check the condition. At my expense! I called about 6 independent mechanics around town and they all told me the CX-7 has a sludge issue. That no vehicle with 50,000 miles would have sludge that bad even if oil changes werent performed at regular intervals. That no vehicle should need a timing chain at 50,000 miles. It is an obvious defect in the design and Mazda doesnt want to pay out millions to correct their mistake. I cannot afford a $1200 repair and now after reading all of these complaints, Im afraid my engine is going to blow. Mazda needs to take care of their customers!

I have a 2008 Mazda 6, 2.3 Sport with 68,000 miles on it. The engine receives regular oil changes and has never been low on oil. Recently the engine started making a knocking sound at about 2500 rpm. The sound got worse and it would appear that I need a new engine at a cost of around $6000. I dont see how this could happen on a product that is less than 4 years old that has received regular maintenance. Mazda is a joke but worse than that is the fact that I have recommended this brand to my father and friends (two of them now own one). I really dont want to invest any more money into this car but it isnt worth any money without being able to drive it.

Mazda Corporation in Canada has a huge problem that seems to be growing wee
Mazda Corporation in Canada has a huge problem that seems to be growing week over week. I purchased a new Mazda CX5 10 months ago. The vehicle drives fantastic. It just needs a lot of TLC. Paint is not evenly distributed leaving visible color distortions. Front bumper is not, absolutely not, suitable for winter driving in Canada. I went through a spray - car was to get the salt and grime off the car and the bumper just cracked. Dealer is telling me I hit something... No scuff marks, no other damage than a crack that starts exactly where there is a cut out in the bumper. This is a flaw in the plastic material that the bumper is made of. I will eventually replace the bumper but at $ 1,000.00 it simply is not feasible right now. The infotainment system is cause for long debates with the dealer and on the phone with Mazda Canada customer support. I have also put in a claim at the MTO (Ministry of Transportation in Ontario) to see if they are willing to see the point of a defective infotainment unit that requires constant attention during driving. USB drives simply crash, Bluetooth becomes grayed out. Needs a complete disconnect from the battery to resolve (plus reprogramming). Dealer states that they did a firmware upgrade but only tested for the GPS system and, since I keep that up to date (I had to purchase maps to be updated quarterly), it showed on the bill that the firmware already was up to date. That is not the firmware!! The infotainment also has a firmware that can be checked by pressing radio on/off and audio at the same time. Since the dealer made a statement that the firmware is up to date, Mazda Canada does not want to respond to any flaws or changes that need to be made. Music volume is just unacceptable. I had to crank the sound to 30 before I can even hear the speakers and there is a constant hiss at lower music levels. Dont even think of driving with the roof open. You will have to crank it all the way up to 45 or 50 (65 is the max). I purchased the GS model for this. The sunroof is a much welcome tool in keeping the temps in the car at bay in the summer. The OEM tires will not last for more than 40,000 KM by the way. Last but not least: the dealer will only work on any TSB (technical service bulletin) when the customer insist. It is not done voluntarily. Mazda Canada still claims there are no TSBs for the car - if asked why they are so secretive about this, they claim that all works as it was meant to be. The car, in their eyes, is perfect. In my opinion, the many test reports are flawed and I have also contacted these sites and producers of the shows with the facts. Also the Dealers insist you take the rust proofing and if you do the car will be ready in 4 days. I refused ant it took 2 weeks with the 3M protection film still missing. These tricks will be pressed upon the buyer when I thought I was done with the purchase. I have deep regrets I purchased the car. I will zoom-zoom for a little longer but this car will not last the full 10 years my (t)rusty Ford Taurus did. I do not recommend anyone to purchase a Mazda CX5 if peace of mind is important.

I bought a new 2015 Mazda CX9 back in March 2015. Was a reliable vehicle up until about 3 weeks ago. After I dropped my kids off at school I heard my fan getting loud under the hood. I looked at my dashboard, no engine light, no coolant light, nothing. So I drive 1/4 mile further and see that my coolant gauge is starting to rise, I then pull over into the next neighborhood as it begins to steam from underneath my hood. I have it towed to the closest shop to where I stalled out at, and they tell me that at 77,000 miles I need a NEW ENGINE! I had 2 other opinions from different mechanics and they all stated the same. I towed it over to the Mazda dealer that I bought it from, and they have basically told me tough luck. I forwarded every service record that I had since I purchased the car. But I would have to fork out $6k for a brand new engine. I will never purchase another Mazda again, nor will I ever recommend my family and friends. In a automotive industry that is fighting to retain their customers, I wouldve thought this wouldve been a great way to earn a customer for life. If you own a Mazda beware. As I stated there was no warning, and I wasnt due for another service appt for another 2 months. Way to go Mazda!

This is about my second consecutive Mazda sedan I have owned. After I was notified of the recent recall of the passenger side inflator on my 2012 Mazda 6 I wanted to also have the drivers side one replaced, at my expense, and when it was later recalled (as it most likely would be), I wanted to be reimbursed for whatever my cost was. I first presented this request to the dealership who told me the cost would be around $700, because they said the inflator part alone could not be replaced. Because I am willing to pay this amount I then contacted Mazda Corporate Customer Experience where I was told Mazda could not promise any reimbursement but would “review” such request. Finally, I contacted two executives at the Corporation with this request. My last request to one of them was made by letter mailed by certified mail. Although the letter mailing was verified received by USPS, it has now been some 3 months and I have not received any reply and I dont expect to. My Opinion: This clearly shows me: MAZDA DOESN’T EVEN CARE ENOUGH ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS TO EVEN RESPOND TO THEM IN THIS SITUATION. This experience has now cemented my decision to never purchase another Mazda again. I probably should not have purchased this one because I had a problem with the moonroof not always closing on the last one that was only fixed because a friend of mine knew someone at Mazda that I was able to connect with who got the problem finally fixed after my having taken the car to the dealership numerous times and told they “had to replicate the problem” before it could be fixed.

This Mazda CX-5 had replaced one that I really enjoyed. But it does fulfill my needs but its not the type of car I would normally pick out. I like the fact that is all wheel drive. I like the pep in the engine and the gas mileage. I do like the fact that every Mazda has a GPS in it and I like the heated seats. However, the CX-5 is just a lower class model than I was used to previously. The CX-5 is a fine car but I wish that the radio system had XM or Sirius radio.

2007 Mazda Miata MX-5 manual transmission - I am in the market for a more practical car so I have been reading reviews of the brands I am considering. Every brand seems to have issues and I just wanted to share my experiences with the Miata. I bought the car new in December 2006 and have been the sole driver since. It now has 110,000 miles and still going strong. The only mechanical repair I have had was needing to replace the thermostat around 80,000 miles. I just now had to get new brakes for the first time. The paint still looks brand new and I am constantly being asked if it is a new car. The only thing that has not held up well is the cloth upholstery on the drivers front seat but the aftermarket leather seat covers look fabulous. I LOVE THIS CAR! I have loved it since I drove off the dealership lot. I lament having to part with it for a larger car that is better in the snow and after reading the reviews, I am even more hesitant to replace it. If you are considering a Miata from the 2006-2015 generation, I can highly recommend one.

The drivers side view mirror of my Mazda 6 2010 does not fold in to avoid any accidents when parked on the street. Not something that you go over when you buy the car. Where I live, I have no choice but to park on the street outside my apartment building. Ive always had a horrible feeling about not being able to fold it in at night when I come back from work. Just yesterday, I walked out to my car to head to work, and saw that the whole plastic part of the side mirror broken in pieces on the ground. I knew it eventually was bound to happen. Now what? I dont know who did it and dont have the money to pay the $1,000 deductible before its covered, if it even is. Because Mazda decided to cheap out on that part, I get stuck with the bill? Well, if you want to be mislead, lied to and taken advantage of then I suggest you come here. I went into Mazda back in March 2019 to test the CX-5, after driving it around and listening all the great features I started to become more and more interested in the vehicle. Zakou, my sales rep tried to get me the best deal. I explained to him I still had 3 more months left on my previous lease but he assured me it wouldnt be an issue because Mazda would take care of the remaining balance (which by the way, was written in the contract and stated in all the paperwork signed by them and myself).Well, to cut the story short, its been almost three months since I switched to Mazda, my previous lease hasnt been paid off yet although they took the vehicle from me, I have been CONSTANTLY reaching out to my sales rep, calling the store, asking for a manager, financial manager, ANYONE that could help me out and all I get is: I will find out what is going on and I will reach out to you but I never hear back from anyone, and the manager seems to never be available. The only person I was able to talk to was the manager for used cars who obviously had no idea what I was talking about and also promised to call back, but I am still waiting for that call - one week later-.I have sent copies of the letters from my previous car dealership regarding the missed payments and how this was reported to the credit bureaus damaging my credit and all Zakou (the sales rep) would say is that he passed it on to his managers. When I asked which manager so I could follow up he would say I could just call and ask for one and they would all know what I was talking about, which again, LIES, because not once was I able to get a hold of a manager, they seemed to NEVER be there, and when I would reach out to Zakou again, hed tell me the same thing making me even more upset at the fact that I was not getting any concrete answers. The last thing I was told by my sales rep was for me to pay the balance and bring them a cancelled check for a refund which at this point I refuse because that is not what I agreed on, and if I wouldve known that from the beginning I would have just waited out the three months so I wouldnt be stuck with two lease payments!! It is safe to say, this has been by FAR the worse experience with a dealership that has failed tremendously with their customer service. Their lack of attention or interest in my situation has made my experience so sour, if it wasnt for my contract I would have returned the vehicle already so I wouldnt have to deal with them.

My 2005 Mazda 6 broke down along side road. The engine only had 40,000 miles on it. I called Bob and he told me to have it towed there and hed take care of me. I was later told that the engine blew but as his crew looked at it, they verified that the engine and oil was clean. He said hed call regional and see what he could do for me to get the engine repaired or replaced. After several weeks of run around, I was finally told that it was going to cost $90 for the service team to look at the engine. I was then informed that he could put a salvaged engine in for $4,000. I about freaked out--$4,000 for a used engine that came with a mere 90-day warranty? I called Mazda headquarters and was told that I shouldve bought an extended warranty. I told her that she was crazy as no car costing over $20,000 should have a blowing engines with a mere $40,000. I then asked if Mazda would help out by paying for the service or the engine--or at least half, so that I could get the car back working. She told me that Bob offered me a great deal and I had refused him. I told her what he offered and $4,000 for a used engine plus other parts as needed didnt sound like a good deal to me at all. I asked her, If it was you car, would you not expect Mazda to stand behind their product and assist? She told me that Mazda stands behind their products and I shouldve purchased the extended warranty. After reviewing the Internet, I found out that Mazda 6 engines seem to have a lot of loss of oil or blow out problems. I always thought Mazda was a good company but I know Ill never purchase another. Ill make sure that everyone I speak with would hear about my experience with the vehicle, the dealers run around, and the arrogance at Mazda HQ in California.

I have had to replace my brakes and rotors twice on my 2009 Mazda 6. The first time I replaced the brakes and rotors, the car had 23,180 miles. I had to replace the brakes and rotors a second time at 68,012 miles (36,975 miles after the first time). I filed a formal complaint through Mazdas corporate headquarters and got nowhere. They say its normal. The mechanic who just replaced my brakes and rotors for the second time and has 20 years of experience completely disagrees. I have a string of emails between Mazdas corporate rep and myself that I can provide. Mazda is completely unwilling to do anything and refused to even pass my case along to a supervisor. Just passed 24000km on the odometer and the brand new 2016 CX3 I bought a year ago has a complete transmission failure. I had to bring it into the dealership (Stoney Trail Mazda) in Calgary AB Canada for a period of 4 weeks. They had to replace the complete transmission which took 2 weeks and after the replacement there was still noises coming from the vehicle, they took another two weeks to find out what was wrong and was complete clueless. They told me they did further work by replacing the flywheel and a number of other parts. The dealership is making an effort and did fix everything without further cost to me and did provide a rental vehicle which I appreciate greatly. However, I completely lost confidence in Mazda as a company. Ive been a long time Mazda owner and the fact that the dealership is not stepping up to replace a clearly lemon/defective vehicle is really upsetting. This will be the last Mazda I will ever own. I let it warm up, worked the engine properly - all youre supposed to do to this special engine. Now, here it is on June, I am driving down the road, and the car, without a warning, just dies. I have a blown engine just like that. I am furious. If Mazda has known that this issue randomly happens with its cars, why isnt every single one that suffers from this defect gets replaced? I am now deep in debt, 104,000 miles and 9 months in a 5-year loan on a car thats virtually garbage. Please help someone.

Just out of warranty my passenger window motor broke. I had to buy a new motor off the internet because the dealership wanted six times the price for the part. Then a year later the driver outside door handle broke. Four months later the same handle broke again. I didnt realize but the other handles dont get as much use but theyre starting to show theyre starting to give. I will not be buying a Mazdas again and this car (Mazda cx7 2010)was not cheap.

My daughter bought a new crv from Mazda, the car doesnt even have 70,000 miles on it now. Well there is an engineering screw up that Mazda knew about it, and put the part on it anyway, knowing the part was a screw up, and refuses to repair it at their cost. The vvt solenoid should be replaced because they knew all about it. Its really a crying shame that they have screwed over so many people. There should be a recall on this, but I guess they are sweeping it under the rug. Its going to cost about $2,000 to repair this vehicle. My daughter has 3 children and cannot afford this. She brought her vehicle to a Mazda dealership in Baton Rouge, La. To be fixed, Mazda did agree to pay only $500.00 of the repairs. Her vehicle sat at Mazda for 5 damn weeks and they never worked on it. They said they would try and squeeze her vehicle in, and even though she was going to have to pay the remaining balance which is 1,500, they still never fixed a Damn thing! So she went and picked it up and all they did was hand her the keys and said nothing. I Would never purchase a MAZDA vehicle ever! Mazda should be brought Up on charges and held responsible for Their negligence.

First, I would like to say I have been satisfied with my Mazda product. I have had my car now for 12 years and have had virtually no issues other than normal maintenance. However, my car has had several recalls, one of which came after I had already had and paid for the repair. That is where I have my problem with Mazda. The recall stated it takes 6-8 weeks to process a claim on repairs that have been recalled, o.k., I get it. I sent my recall reimbursement form and supporting documents registered mail, which was a smart move on my part, because they first tried to claim that they did not receive my recall repayment request. I told them that a representative had signed for the registered mail 4 days after I sent it. So they requested. I fax the form and supporting documents. I waited approximately 4 weeks to see what the status on my refund was. Mazda Recall Center told me they cant send a check because the repair was made with a credit payment (it was a debit card that was used for the payment on an account I had already closed). So they told me after a week later, when I called again, that they would have to get an approval to send a check. I waited 2 more weeks, called and was told that the check should be on the way 2-3 weeks. I waited 3 weeks to call back, and have now been told that it will take another 2-3 weeks to get the reimbursement. I feel as the Mazda is Hemming and Hawing with this issue for whatever reason and would like to know if anyone else has been having this type of issue with Mazda.

Had many problems from the start, dealer service was no help. Things kept getting worse. When I got it tire psi was at 49 psi, should be at 29. Adjustment cams on control arms off zero so toe in front back out of alignment, wears out tires fast. When I locked car the gas door pops open. Tables constantly reboots when it’s driven in the rain or when it’s washed, there’s a terrible film on the windshield and it’s pitted. One mechanic says it looks like a new muffler was put on, the body sags about an inch left rear wheel and clanked until a friend fixed, still sags a little at 22,000 miles. Lose inside panel. Overheats when idling. Dealer service is horrible, been to 5. Refused to refund extended maintenance. Dealer cashed my refund from Warrantech, kept money. Warrantech sent me a second check and then the dealer wants me to give them that money so they can take their cut and send back to me. Mazda North America is no help. There are other problems. This is my third new Mazda lemon.

This vehicle has been very dependable with no major repairs needed. Ive been a bit disappointed as to the fuel economy. The model I purchased was a 4-cylinder. Ive only been getting around 25 mpg on the highway, not as fuel efficient as other 4-cylinder pickups Ive owned in the past. The interior is a bit cramped, but then again, it is a small pickup. Overall, Ive been happy with it. I may opt for a 6-cylinder pickup next time around which will be a bit more powerful than a 4-cylinder and still economical to drive.

I purchased my CX-5 in 2015, and it is just at one year old. The windshield cracked, starting from the left hand side and reaches across right in front of the view. Researching this, it is apparent that many Mazda owners have experienced cracked windshields. There was no rock, just started cracking. Under warranty still, but the dealer will not honor the windshield. Replacement cost including labor is $850.00.Also, the tires on the car were nearly bald at 16,000 mi. The cost to replace the set was over $1,600 one year into the ownership, and Ive had to pay an additional $2,500 in expenses. If I had it to do all over again, I would have purchased the Honda CRX. So sad to give a company so much money, and have no similar consideration in return. And the dealerships do not take ownership of the problems; Its the Mazda manufacturing, in Japan. Ill never purchase another Mazda again. I hope this encourages someone to not purchase any Mazda vehicles in the future. Ill spend an hour or two at the dealership on Saturday to mention these issues to prospective buyers.

Purchased a new Mazda speed 6. At approximately 44K miles, the engine blew (for lack of mechanical terms) at a repair cost of $8,600 not under warranty by 60 days but still under mileage (oh well). Was then told that new engine, turbo, etc. Would now be covered to an additional 100K miles. Now one year later, the car has a check engine light on. Took it to Mazda. They said it maybe a valve and would be $1200 to repair that. Somehow apparently not covered by the new warranty. On top of that, I had to pay $130 for the diagnostic that only gave a maybe result (apparently again not covered). Please contact me if there is going to be a class action suit against Mazda as it seems this happens a lot.

I have been having problems with the throttle (Mazda Tribute V4) which has been sticking. For over a year now, I have been looking to see if there were any recalls against them. Finally when I looked today, it was only for the V6 engine. When I called them today through corporate and service department, I asked them why not on the V4, and they couldnt give me a correct answer. If its within the year, it should be for all Mazda vehicles. I have been in so many almost accidents with this vehicle and Mazda wants to charge almost $300 for a diagnostic and cleaning the carbon out. That is ridiculous. I am a single parent trying to make ends meet in this poor economy. This is the worst vehicle I have ever bought.

However, this model has had problems so the new one has been improved to prevent this. You would think if they had to improve it because of this problem it would be a recall item. I have a 2008 Mazda CX-9 with 139,000 miles on it. I bought the car because Motor Trend gave it import SUV of the year and due to its positive reviews on maintenance. So far weve had pretty good luck with this SUV until now. From the research Ive done and from whats been confirmed by both Mazda USA customer service and a local dealer service the transfer case out of the factory is in fact faulty and did in fact ruin the transmission. Ive done extensive research on this and this is absolutely a known issue that the transfer case is ruining these transmissions. Ive also discovered that the Mazda dealerships in my area are selling upwards of 4 transfer cases per week and often out of stock due to this replacement of the faulty transfer case coming out of the factory. I cannot understand why Mazda hasnt sent out a bulletin to its valued customers regarding this. I can only imagine the lack of transparency on this is due to the large financial impact it may have. I am contacting you to request that you take this issue to whomever can help resolve my case and provide significant financial assistance towards the replacement of my transmission and faulty transfer case. Ive been told that Mazda apparently has a software update that would fix this issue--but I find it impossible to believe as I have never received any notification of this being an issue or any software update to fix this faulty transfer case. I find it hard to believe that a software upgrade is going to fix a mechanical issue and cannot find any evidence of this software update being legitimate.Mazda supposedly makes a quality product and supposedly cares about customer loyalty and service. I would say that not telling your customers about a faulty part (known issue on factory transfer case) that DESTROYS the transmission and causes SIGNIFICANT financial hardship is not fair or reasonable customer service.

I bought my 2021 Mazda CX-5 in February of 2021 in Saint Louis, Missouri. I travel for work and I am currently in Flagstaff, Arizona. My vehicle began making a roaring sound from the passenger side tire. I thought it was odd because my car only has 30,000 miles on it. I took it to a local mechanic because the closest Mazda dealership is over 100 miles away. And I did not feel comfortable driving it. Turns out my wheel bearing is bad. I called Mazda customer service and they said “Yes that wheel bearings are covered under warranty, and they can call for a tow truck but there is no guarantee that a tow truck will be able to come get it, and if they do there will be no guarantee that it can be dropped back off. I have no other vehicle to pick it up. I asked if I could just take my vehicle to a mechanic and have them repair it and be reimbursed and the customer service rep said, “no it will have to be a Mazda dealership for warranty to cover it.”In conclusion, there is no guarantee that my vehicle will be picked up, and if it is there is no guarantee that it will be dropped off. Also no reimbursement so I am paying out of pocket. What is the point of a “warranty” that does not give you options to repair your vehicle? The customer service rep said she would transfer me to her supervisor and that she also sent her my number in case we got disconnected. She hung up the phone and I never received a call from her supervisor. Mazda warranty is **.

I would like to warn you people out there about this dealership, seems to be a common theme with Mazda. This link verifies that the entire Mazda corporation has a systemic problem with accountability and safety measures. A dealership that sells a vehicle to a senior citizen with dementia is an all time low, unless youre Midway Mazda which seems to be acceptable. You can get this information from the MVSA BC complaints and cases against this particular dealership under the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA). Actually you can see it online as well, because it did go to court.Furthermore, they have had at least 9 abandoned cases all in a row, dating back to 2008 courtesy of the MVSA (Motor Vehicle Sales Authority which is Non-Profit, meaning donations and taxpayer funded) in which the MVSA manager indicates they lost those files, updating the computer system. MVSA is no better than the slum dealership it represents. They talk their way out of any type of action. If youre thinking about filing a complaint against Mazda through MVSA, make sure you read the policies and know your rights. Funny thing is that the MVSA Manager didnt even know what his own policies were, and when I told him, he was in disbelief and denial. If its in writing then its legal, talk is cheap. I waited over 9 months just to get a meeting, because they kept blowing me off, and didnt even bother to tell me why? This dealership falsified the inspection reports and would not take care of any issues brought up that were safety hazards, or even non-safety issues that cost me money out of my pocket. Its simple, downright neglectful and deceitful. The entire process from start to end was absolutely ridiculous from non-service to the product. I have been dealing with this issue for just about 2 years. I have wrote reviews, and sent letters to every organization and governing body under the sun. I have all the proof in the world, and civil court is the only way to go now. I would think twice about this dealership and I will make sure everyone knows about it too. I also would not buy from the Nissan next to this dealership as it is the same owner. Make yourselves accountable, instead of hiding behind poor policy, excuses and lies, because in the end it will hit your wallet! Disappointed taxpayer/owner of a Mazda.

I bought my 2008 Mazda CX-9 in 2010 with about 23,000 miles from a local dealer. I loved the vehicle until the past few months. My car is now 5 years old with 78,000. I have had regular oil changes and have done all scheduled maintenance since Ive owned it. I had issues with the tie rods (scary story as well) that needed replacing. I expect brakes, tires, batteries, etc. will need replacing. I even expect that at some point the water pump will require replacing. What I did not know, is that the water pump, which of course failed a month before Christmas, is in the middle of the engine. In order to replace this $159 part, the entire engine had to be removed. I was without my car for 4 days and the total bill was over $1700. $159 in parts and $1500 in labor ($105 per hour). I am of course out of warranty but the dealer said to call the customer service number, they will likely help. NOPE, not a dime. What I have discovered about Mazda is that MAZDA DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS. I will NEVER buy another Mazda and I will be telling the world for the rest of my life. Mazda just doesnt care about their customers so think of that before you make such an expensive purchase.

I had happily owned 2 Mazda 6 2006 sedan and wagon and was considering another when the diesel comes out. That was last week. This week, without warning, the clutch pedal went to the floor and made a loud bang grinding noise. The car has extended warranty from Mazda. We had told Mazda for over a year, it was hard to get into reverse and the 1-2 chatter noise but never got any resolution on this. I took the car in and the dealer said it would be a clutch, which was not covered. I was not happy but somewhat ok with that. It turned out that when the part failed (Throwout bearing), it destroyed the transmission and that is not covered (Mazda Customer service must know about the problem as they tell you it is not covered and basically hang up on you).Same with MEPP, which I paid a great deal of money for bumper to bumper extended total care, which is supposed to cover manual transmission but somehow does not. I’m getting rid of both cars and may have to junk my other car, which went from being worth 10k to 0 in an instant by a bearing which should be covered. Don’t buy Mazda. They dont stand behind their products. Always dealer serviced and just was serviced and passed MAZDA (Green light thing they give you every time its serviced making you feel like its all good, which is a lie). $3,000.00 to replace the clutch is insane. My engine light came on (cylinder 3 misfire). Took it to the dealer and I was told I needed new spark plugs and coils (4 of each). Price for parts approximately $70.00. Total bill $900.00 (freakin robbery - but I am a female so you know how it goes). I just wanted my car fixed. Drove not even two days the engine light came on again. This time it was a misfire from cylinder 2. Took it back and they looked at it. Who knows what they did. Drove it and the next more again misfire from cylinder 2. This happened two times as it relates to this cylinder. I was told by the service agent that my valve probably needs cleaning. Not sure but that would cost a lot ($1700+). I asked the guy could it be my fuel injector? I was told I can put some fuel clean in my tank and this might fix it (brother & ex-husband advised me). The service agent told me naw I dont think so. Well I told them I will get another opinion.Took it to the Mazda Dealership in Gaithersburg, MD. Ive had this car since 2008 and theyve always fixed my car and never once did I have to take it back because something failed again. I was told by Mazda in Gaithersburg, MD that one of my fuel injectors is bad. That whoever looked at my car previously should have been able to figure this out since the cylinder that kept misfiring is connected to this particular fuel injector. I had the fuel injector replaced. So far the car runs like new. So far its been a few weeks. Engine light has not come back on. Frederick Mazda... Did I really need 4 spark plugs and 4 coils. I just pay way too much for it because I got with the wrong dealership. It was a smaller car with gas mileage good. I do not like big cars and maneuvering those so the outside size was perfect for me. Once I had kids I did not like that it was so small and no space for car seats and strollers. We have seen a host of complaints on the internet, including the ** website about reliability issues on relatively new Mazda SUVs. In our specific case, both the LED lights on our 2016 CX-5 went out in under 40K miles. They cost a whopping ~$1100 to replace... each! Mazda corporate replaced one, but when the second one went out at 40K, said its not a reliability issue. The entire cost of replacing just one assembly costs as much as 3 years of standard maintenance costs. Were done with Mazda. In contrast, Subaru fixed an engine issue (twice, both times well out of warranty) at their expense just to stand by their brand.

To all owner of Mazda 2007-2013 Grand touring model. This car has around 62 K miles on it and solely serviced at Peterson Mazda dealer which I bought the car from, in Huntington Beach, California. About a month or so the car was serviced as scheduled and the inspection revealed nothing out of the ordinary. I was informed that eventually, I have to change the brake pads within 6 months or so. There was about 1/3 left on them. Without any warning of any kind, the brakes quit working and the car was not driveable. I thank God that my kids were not with me. The only way I came to a full stop was to downgrade to the 1st gear and apply the emergency brake. I recall I was on the freeway and the car had to be towed to my place. I replaced the disks, put new pads front and rear and the car still was not breaking. I took the car back to the dealer thinking that the master cylinder was defective and need replacing and I was ready to bit my tongue and pay for it since my warranty just expired at 60K. To my surprise I was told that there is a factory recall on the brake boosters and the replacement is free. I was outraged by the fact that we were not informed of this potentially dangerous issue, and I was told that it is on the need to know or repair basis and that the dealer is not liable since Mazda would not reimburse the cost of the repair, which averages $400 or so. Thanks a lot, Mazda. It is almost as bad as the exploding gas tank from the Ford Pinto back in the days. Do yourself a favor call your dealer and let them know about those boosters. Your life is at risk. For the record, I rarely write reviews but this time I felt obligated to inform the public about the shady dishonest behavior that Mazda is conducting and my life and kids life is worth more than your pathetic $400. Signed a teacher and very unhappy customer.

I loved my Mazda from day one. In July 2007, I leased my CX-7, AWD, Touring. In July 2010, because I loved it so much, after test driving several other cars in the same class, I financed the rest and kept it. I have proof of all my oil changes and maintenance to the vehicle. I paid it off nearly one year early with some of my retirement savings so I could enjoy not having a monthly payment for the first time in my life. I also put brand new tires on and another $3,000 of maintenance, replacing the cracked transfer case, leaking oil cooler and loose ball joint (as recommended by Mazda). I responded promptly to all recalls by bringing it right to the dealership I leased and purchased it from. In January 2015, my family was in the car on the way to the mall. The check engine light came on. My husband and I argued for 20 seconds about how he felt there were always problems with the car (I still disagree to this day with the always part). 10 seconds later....the engine shut off, he was barely able to steer the car down an exit ramp off the highway when the car completely stopped. Black smoke came pouring out of the hood. We grabbed our two toddlers out of the their car seats and I stood with them in the freezing rain while flames shot out of the bottom and sides of the car and my husband called 911. Ill never forget how I stood there with tears streaming down my face, shivering and trying to hold my babies while my Mazda that I trusted for almost 8 years, burned beyond recognition in front of me. Thank God nobody was hurt. We dont know what caused it since no warning lights were on prior to that and nothing was reported to me by Mazda service when it was in the shop not even 6 weeks earlier. The insurance money is barely covering what I put in to this car in the last 5 months. I wont buy a Mazda ever again, and I suggest you dont either.
