2022 BMW X4 M Competition Review and Test Drive

In today’s automotive landscape, SUVs and compact crossovers tend to be highly sought-after vehicles over coupes and sedans. BMW’s X3 and X4 compact crossovers have benefited from the popularity of such vehicles and on the performance edge of things the latest X4 M has risen to become quite the sleeper with its stunning performance that many didn’t see coming in the realm of BMW “M” Motorsport vehicles.
The 2022 BMW X4 M Competition is a star within the brand that is eager to take on sports cars that are nearly twice its price and do it all while offering the versatility of a crossover. However, that versatility of a crossover is somewhat cut short by the X4 M’s unique coupe-like styling from its sloping rear roof design that’s taken the X3 and fundamentally sloped the rear roof area. While such a style may be an acquired taste for some, you must respect the boldness of automakers who want their crossovers to stand out more – and THIS X4 M Competition test vehicle adorned in its Sao Paulo Yellow paint does just that, stand out in a crowd. Thankfully, BMW retained the good looks of the respected kidney grille up front matching the darkened trim, lower grille, staggered 20-inch wheels, and large rear defuser area. The X4 M Competition looks the part of a menacing crossover and I think it’s the best the X4 has ever looked.
Performance and Driving Character
After all the years of experiencing BMW vehicles, I’m not at all surprised to jump in one and it immediately feels faster than BMW originally claims. The new BMW X4 M Competition is no different, which has an additional 30 horsepower and 16 lb-ft of torque over the non-Competition X4 M giving its turbocharged inline-6-cylinder engine 503 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque, which feels like much more. With the direct and snappy-shifting ZF-sourced 8-speed automatic transmission set in its fastest and most aggressive shift mode and launch control enacted by disabling the stability and traction control, the X4 M Competition is able to hit 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds. Yes, that’s very fast and much quicker than BMW estimates. The xDrive all-wheel-drive system tends to bias its power to the rear but don’t be surprised that the front wheels break loose a bit when launching.
As the shifts fire off nearly like some of the best dual-clutch transmissions around, the X4 M Competition lurches forward with authority and hardly any drama. Put the unique crossover into a sharp turn and it grips like it’s nearly on rails feeling almost like a well-tuned sports coupe. There’s a hit of turbo lag from a stop when you don’t use the launch mode, which wants you to allow the engine to build boost to avoid that uninspiring turbo lag.
Where I found fault with the new X4 M Competition is its twitchy feeling in the ride quality and steering sharpness, which is somewhat different from the non-Competition X4 M. While the steering is quite sharp it tends to be followed up with unwanted twitches in body movements where it feels like the front wheels need a toe-in adjustment. The suspension aided by adaptive dampers that have three settings that can be dialed up through a few different ways, one being through one of the two M steering wheel buttons, tends to be lax in its reaction to dips and rises in the road. Basically, the suspension is initially stiff but creates somewhat of a lofty feeling at times jarring any rear passengers. I feel BMW could easily do some retuning here and “fix” such a feeling.
The BMW X4 M Competition nearly defies the laws of physics where you feel as if you can push it harder and harder to inch up to its limit. Even the braking from large 15.6-inch cross-drilled rotors clamped down by 4-piston calipers up front and 14.6-inch discs with single-piston calipers out back is strong and confident inspiring. In being part of the true M vehicle pedigree, the X4 M Competition is poised and ready for track duties just like its closely-matched M3/M4 siblings – only the X4 M Comp has a bit more weight and stature to contend with but adds the extra room and dash of practicality in a singular package.
Fuel Economy
The BMW X4 M Competition, just like many other BMWs, has a consistent rate of burning fuel when you’re not pushing it hard. Doing such, you’ll expect to easily match the EPA estimates of 15 mpg city, 20 mpg highway, and 17 mpg combined. On the highway, you may even best the figure to get nearly 21.5 mpg as I did traveling at the posted 70 mph speed limit.
Interior and Tech
The cabin of the X4 M Competition is most of what you find in many other current BMW vehicles before the recent iDrive update. Using the iDrive 7 setup and the welcomed touchscreen and redundancy of controls is mostly a simple endeavor with a short learning curve. I can respect what BMW has done in their very last iteration of iDrive 7 before moving to the new iDrive 8 setup that I recently encountered in my BMW i4 review.
There’s wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration along with the traditional simple controls that many have grown to enjoy in modern BMW vehicles. Otherwise, the BMW X4 M Competition adds some unique heated front seats that have good bolster support and the proper power adjustments including a versatile lumbar adjustment. The rear seating area is small and there’s not much headroom mostly due to the sloping rear roofline, which also contributes to a smaller rear window. Rearward visibility is still “okay” but not as good as you find in platforming sharing X3/X3 M. The same goes for cargo space being cut a little short from the sloping rear accessed by a power liftgate.
Safety
There’s a decent list of expected active safety features that come standard in the X4 M Competition (blind-spot monitors, front collision warning with emergency braking, and a high-resolution 360-degree camera system). There’s the option of adding the adaptive cruise control setup, and lane departure warning/mitigation, which was not equipped in my test vehicle.
Price
The BMW X4 M starts at $73,400 before any fees or options. The pay-to-play factor comes into the picture with the BMW X4 M Competition where the pricing tends to easily crest $80K with just a couple of option packages whereas my nicely equipped test vehicle comes to a price of $86,145. For a compact luxury-performance crossover, the X4 M Competition is among the best in its class in my opinion with shocking performance that leads the pack.

I called BMW Financial/Collections to pay the balance 11/25/2015. They explained there was a deadline as of 11/20/2015 to pay and obtain the vehicle. How was I supposed to know this when BMW never informed about the repossession or a deadline?

BMW 2011 x535i Premium Problems - I purchased this car new 2 years ago. My car boiled at 12,520 mi. in New Mexico, was towed to Tucson At 2 am for 1.5 hrs. Tucson BMW - requested them to drain and measure oil. They refused! BMW book for owners states: Too little or too much oil can damage engine and/or transmission. BMW doesnt care. In Sept. 2013, got front brakes at Escondido BMW, CA. They refused to change the rotors that were badly rusted and below specs until I returned to the BMW shop after taking it to a German shop to see if they did the work. They didnt. Upon returning, I was able to force them to change the rotors. Since purchasing the BMW, the car hesitates and jerks for about two blocks before driving right. The car emergency parking brake is designed to ruin the transmission if it isnt applied in a certain order. There is a pin in the brake that will pop if not set right and if it breaks off, you need a new transmission! $$$$. The leather is cheap and thin. I am a single retired woman that doesnt drive daily. My seat is worn as if it had 60,000 mi. on it, instead of 29,000! I also paid an extra $1,300 for contour seats, but the ride is so hard, you become a bobble Head with a headache if you arent driving on very smooth highways!My entire rear muffler system arrived totally rusted when brand new. BMW has a 10-yr. Rust warranty, but refuses to honor it! Windshield was defective in the 20,000 mi. range. BMW refused to honor their Windshield warranty also... My cost: $903! The glare from defects blinded me. Navigation went out three times, blank red, then all in German language... Acktune? Attention! Etc. My AM-FM and Sirius also went blank. If they cant replicate it at that moment, they wont fix it and dont care. Navigation works, but also is defective and often tells you the wrong way to turn, so you also have to rely on N, S, W, E. When you buy the car new, they want you to pay hundreds to update your navigation. It does not come updated!!!Gas mileage is not good like they claim. Neither is the twin turbo engine. I was told by a Vista BMW dealer mgr. that I need to add a qt of oil every 2,000 Miles. I dont think that is in the manual either. The oil seals go bad often, claims a BMW mechanic. When BMW was being taken apart by BMW rep at Encinitas BMW, they scratched my rear side bumper! They also did not put the car back together right and frequently called to tell me the car was ready when they had not performed the work, causing multiple trips to dealers and much aggravation and gas.Filed a lemon law in NJ where I bought the car. If I had purchased it in Calif. BMW would have bought the car back; but all they want to give me is $8,000, which is standard for any lemon law complaint in OH and NJ unless the car quits and is a life threat or injury from malfunction is proven. Someone in Munich had my same vin# except for last 5 nos. Their car stopped in the middle of the highway, lost all power and brakes! This happens to some BMW owners of X5s. At the time I purchased the car, I thought I loved it. Now that I own it, and have researched all problems with this model. It states in Car magazines this is the 2nd worst SUV for 2011 and is on the Do not buy list because of all major problems. This car sticker: $63,225. Worth: 0 in safety and reliability and service at BMW! BMW does not honor their warranties! If you file a lemon on BMW, be aware they add code 13 on their confidential Store copy of your invoice. This means the dealer must contact BMW Corp. in NJ., who in turn tells the dealer to do nothing except oil changes and they told me their hands were tied! BMW corporate just did a fabulous remodel for $100 million in New Jersey. It seems nobody can make them honor their worthless warranties!My recommendation: Do not buy this car unless you are a European mechanic. BMW does not tell you to buy a software update program for $325 or your car may totally fail leaving you helpless and frightened when it shuts down. Locks are iffy. Sometimes they work, but they seem easy to break into. Remote battery fails frequently and all BMW does is temp. charge it. BMW can erase all the codes on your car if they dont want you to know what is really wrong.I had German shop run 3 pgs. of codes that were bad on my new car. BMW Ohio kept these records. They were mostly camera errors. If you can find a German shop to run codes on your car, then you will know what is really wrong. BMW will never admit to any failures and paid millions in fines to NHSTA because they refuse to turn in complaints to the national board according to the law in the time frame regulated for the first few years on any BMW! Why are they allowed to get away with breaking the law????? And why cant they be made to Honor all their warranties, which you pay for in the price of the car and is an Incentive to purchase the car? Prestige BMW in NJ also failed to give us the $2,500 holiday credit incentive they promised! And it took two months to get the privacy cover that came with the car new! You be the judge! I bought a 2009 BMW X5 4.8i V8 from my son-in-law who bought it new. The car had 37,000 miles on it when I bought it and now has 87,000 miles. Half of the mileage has been on 1000 mile trips. The car has been well maintained with all recommended services throughout the period. My wife and I are over 70 and do not drive the car aggressively. Here is my repair experience with this car. All but the first occurred after the 50,000 mile warranty expired: Air conditioner hose connection leaked refrigerant -- replaced hose. Headlight washer nozzle dropped off -- replaced nozzle. Plastic water overflow tank seam separated -- replaced tank. Vacuum pump leaked -- replaced vacuum pump. Oil leaked through several front engine seals and valve covers -- replaced seals. Burnt oil of 1 quart per thousand miles, through valve seals -- replaced valve seals. Vacuum leak through fuel pump activating engine/emission light -- replaced fuel pump. Total cost for these repairs was around $15,000 over 3 years. All of the repairs were done at BMW dealerships. (This, of course, was over and above normal maintenance like oil changes, adding oil, alignments, tires, brake pads, inspections, etc.) Fortunately, I had third party extended warranty coverage.The dealership mechanics told me these problems are common with BMW V8 engines. There are several reports on the web of these same problems. While BMW touts their engineering, they obviously dont engineer seals that lasts 100,000 miles. If you are considering a used BMW V8, count on $3,000 to $5,000 in repairs a year plus typical maintenance. By the way, I generally keep a car for 200,000 miles or more. The BMW is the priciest car I have owned. It also has had more repairs up to now than any of my other cars throughout their 200,000 mile life history. The car is a nice car to drive. However, given my experience, I cannot recommend a BMW. The problems I experienced had nothing to do with the the sophistication of the design. They were all basic part failures!

I have a 2004 BMW 530i that was paid off. My daughter came home from work and parked it on the driveway and 2 hours after the trunk of the car caught on fire. The fire marshal said it was due the battery and the red wire in the trunk. I did not have comprehensive or collision insurance so the insurance company did not pay so I call BMW to let them know and I found out that there was other BMW that was in fire because the same issue. BMW took the car to evaluate the fire and then they came back and tell me the they are not responsible and offer 5k toward a certified or new BMW. I said I was not able to buy a new BMW at this point and BMW said we cannot help now. Im left without a car but I found out that BMW had a million car recall because that issue and the NBC news have other news on that issue as well but at the end nothing was done from BMW. I advise anyone with a 2004 to 2010 BMW 5 or 3 series get the car checked and file a complaint with anyone who listen thank you. At the end my car was totaled.

When we spoke on December 9, 2011, about the poor experiences at the service department, I was hopeful that it would not repeat itself in the near future. Unfortunately, despite my best efforts, I must report to you of the poor service yet again experienced. Whether or not you or anyone else cares, I leave that up to your business decisions; however, from the consumers stand point, if asked about my experiences at Silver Spring BMW, I would have to inform then that purchasing the vehicle was great; however, the service department is the worse that I have seen in more than 34 years of driving. As anyone knows, any vehicle needs servicing over the life time, but think twice about purchasing a vehicle from Silver Spring BMW because the service department is just poor. People are polite and they have a smile on their faces but what is promised to the customer is not given to the customer.I will be happy to meet with you to inform you of my experience, but yet again, an appointment was set on December 9, 2011, for this day (December 20, 2011) at 7:30 am. And, despite several email reminders that my appointment was scheduled at 7:30am, and an assurance from Juan L/N/U that I could be taken at 7:30 am, and being the second vehicle waiting at the front doors to open, I had to wait because my advisor had another previously scheduled customer. I decided to leave in complete disgust with the overall operation and process. Whether or not you have a Good Ole Boy system in place, who knows. And of course, a business is welcomed to have a Good Ole Boy system in place; if that is your business model, thats your choice and customers should know.Nevertheless, when you believe that Silver Spring BMW is able to schedule an appointment at an appropriate time to have my windshield repairs, please advice. I bought a certified BMW X3 with 9000 mileage back in 2012. The car has given more issues with drivetrain than any other car. This past Wednesday the engine died. Now in need of new engine. That piece of crap gave me no warning. Just stop on the highway. Endanger my safety. We all need to get together to have class action lawsuit against BMW. It make no sense that my friend had been driven a KIA has no issues and I purchase this expensive car. I experienced more trouble than driving the damn thing. I hope consumerAffairs can do something about this issues. I will never own a BMW. Not reliable.

My car has 62,000 miles and I have spent about $5,000 on repairs and I need to spend another $5,000 if I want to do everything that the house recommended. I own a BMW 545i for years. I want to tell the world what a piece of crap this 65,000 $$$ car is. I mean really BMW sure did a number on everybody with this v8 engines. I want to share all my problems with this car with you guys. DME or ECU replacement and programming $ 3300.00. Alternator bracket leak $800.00. Timing cover and valve cover oil leaks $ 1800.00. Water pump replacement $600.00. Check this one out, engine transfer coolant pipe $2000.00 and thats using the bimmer pipe. Thanks to the guys. They invented this wonderful pipe that save me $5000.00. Yeah. BMW want it 7k for this job. AC heater valves $200.00, AC compressor $1050. Im the second owner of this car. I bought it with 40,000 miles. Now the car has 74,000 miles and more problems. Now the car doesnt want to start. It cant keep idle. I think its the throttle body or it could be the DME again-- look guys, Im sharing all of this with you guys cause I see all of this. People that want to buy a use BMW pls dont. Its cheaper to buy a glass of lemonade if you know what I mean. For me I rather died than buy a BMW new or used. Again thats all I have to said about that. My BMW 2006 325i with only just 50k plus miles now has a transmission overheat light warning. It was stuck in drive gear and forced into park. Next morning, it would not release into any gear. I read the manual and manually defeated the locking mechanism and drove to BMW dealer. The warranty ran out 11 days ago. Audi next time.

Be very careful, and simply test drive other vehicles before settling. You will regret it once you find yourself in the dealership service department over and over. Corporate customer service will make it even worse. I called a few times for assistance because I felt I have a defective vehicle. They are arrogant, rude, and will not help you. I have truly enjoyed the 2014 BMW convertible. It is just fun to drive. I often get told how nice it is. The take off is fast and the controls on the wheel make it less distracting to answer phone or navigate the radio. The overall look is very attractive. I am very short and the seats fit me perfectly. They allow a large range of positions so it also helps my pain from a cancer removal. By the way, the truck release on the key remote drives me nuts. Its like it has a combination of buttons to hit. The car also has a very small trunk so I am not able to purchase larger items.

I have purchased three BMWs and have had serious service issues with the last two. The specific problem I have had with the last one related to the cars inability to start. I had to have it towed into the dealership 4 times when it would not start. In each case the dealer thought they solved the problem but had not. I paid $1,800 to have it fixed but without success. The dealer returned my money because they told me that even though they got the car running, they could not guarantee that it was fixed. This was a problem in the engine computer. Since the car was unpredictable to start, I had to trade it in on a new car, an Infiniti.I will never buy a BMW again. What is so frustrating about this situation is that I intended to keep this car for another 50,000 miles and the engine, if it started, certainly could easily deliver these miles. This situation forced me to invest +$50,000 that I had never budgeted for. I could not have a car that I did not know from one day to the next if it would start. When you pay this amount for a luxury car, you should not have to be stressed out about its ability to start. And for the dealership not to be able to fix and ask me to go away is quite a disappointment! I will be sure to tell hundreds of people over time my story and to recommend they never buy a BMW!!!

I purchased a 2006 BMW 750li new from Reaves Motorcars of Tampa. I noticed the paint starting falling this year. I took it to the dealer who stated he felt there was a defect in the paint/clear coat. He called BMW to come look at the problem. On the once a month visit from the regional manager, Bill **, I was called by the dealer to drop the car off for his review. When I came to pick the car up the service tech informed me that it was not warranted. I was also informed that he never even looked at the car. I then spoke to the general manager, Kelly **, who gave me the 800 number for BMW customer relations. I called them and explained the problem and they scheduled another time for the same rep, Bill **, to actually look at the problem. I went to the dealer to meet the rep to discuss the problem; he no-showed and let me sit at dealership waiting on him. I called the 800 number and I expressed my frustration about the unprofessional behavior of the rep. When I got home I received a blocked caller ID call from the rep who asked to come look at the problem but never apologized for his no-show. He showed up at my home with an obvious attitude, looked at the car and said it was not warranted. I was very disappointed. I then took the car to a different dealer, Bert **, to get a repair done unrelated to the paint. When completed I asked for a price to have the paint repaired. I received a call from the service tech who stated they thought I should have the BMW rep look at the paint as they felt there was a defect. I asked who the rep was and the answer was Bill **, the same rep from the other dealer. I explained his past evaluation and asked for a price anyway. I called the 800 number again and shared my concern and they said there would be no further action in spite of my request for a different set of eyes. I feel BMW has poor representation and does not want to fix their defect. I would not recommend a BMW. I will get the car repainted and submit a claim in court.

Engine shuts down to reduced power mode with no warning. Has been at Moses BMW essentially since Nov 2014. Replaced fuel pump, water pump, hoses, sensors, lines, injectors, battery, vacuum system, engine cover, engine partitions, you name it and still limping and smoking. RPMs even go down when I give it gas. This X6 as well as my previous one have given me nightmares since 2009. BMW and its authorized service are horrible. They are not reliable! They are dangerous! They are selling defective products that are dangerous and refuse to even talk to the people who they are obligated to under their warranties.

They are only profit oriented company and do not show any sympathy or care about their customers or general public. My brand new X7 was on fire last month without any indication on the dashboard. Me and my entire family (including 2 kids and 2 senior citizens) were in the car when the car started throwing smokes without any indication. I acted on time and stopped the car and we all left the car. While taking out my 4 years daughter from the car seat the car literally went on fire from the engine. It was freezing cold day with a single degree temperature and snowing and we all were standing outside until the fire dept arrived. We we all lucky that we survived without any physical injury but mental trauma was never less after that incident.I called BMW NA and filed a complaint to start an investigation as I also saw an article sent over by my friend from CNN where BMW is being sued in South Korea for the same engine fire issue. They acted so negligently that on the scheduled inspection day the public relation officer called me and told me that they didnt get an access of a car from insurance company as it was not communicated with them...Seriously? This shows how lightly they took the entire incident. In the end they wanted to offer me 2 month of lease payment and wanted me to buy or lease new BMW and sign a contingency not to disclose this information to NHSTA or any other places including social media. I declined their charity and chose to go out in public to educate them not to go for BMW brand. It is a known issue of BMW that their cars go on fire lot more frequently than any other manufacturers.DO NOT BUY BMW...THEY ARE VERY PATHETIC IN CUSTOMER SERVICE AS WELL AS PUBLIC SAFETY. I took it back and they said they fixed the problem which was caused by an oil pan leak. Picked the car up again and drove to work for it to die on me again. I had it towed back in to the service center and they came back with a report of sludge in the engine. I was told I needed a new engine that would cost up to $10K. Even though my car wasnt doing this before Momentum BMW repaired it, I tried to comply. I supplied receipt from outside service and they rejected it because they didnt like the receipt format. Im not sure that they even submitted other receipts of service done at BMW. When asked what was submitted, I was told they couldnt release that information. Ive been given the runaround. Ive been a loaner car for 2 months. Ive been treated like a liar and devalued as a customer.

Now I know why I was offered insurance at the time of my lease, which I didnt take. Ive never needed it before. No one explained the issues with these tires. Now I find myself either having to make a one time payment of $1,300 for the insurance for the remainder of my lease; put regular tires on the car but run the risk of damaging the transfer case ($4-5K repair) or continuing replacing tires every time I hit a pothole. This is my Ultimate Driving Experience; NOT!!! Horrific experience; never again; a total disappointment.

I have a 2009 BMW 3 series. I got a flat tire and was lucky to find a tire shop nearby. They did not have the tire for my car, so I called Roadside assistance to see how they could help me. They said I was entitled to a free tire and tire change, which was not true. So I agreed to have my car towed by a tow company, All About Automotive II on that Saturday night, until Monday morning when they would deliver it to Life Quality BMW Service Center. When I received my car back from the Life Quality BMW, the tire rims had been replaced on all four wheels with older, more damaged and dirtier rims, as if from a car that had been sitting in a dirty lot for years. I was outraged. I brought it to the attention of Life Quality, and their answer was that they could wash the car for me. These were not the original rims on the car. I foolishly believed that BMW would be working with a respectable tow company, even though when the company towed my car they did not take pictures of it, and one of the women who came to get the car was visibly a substance abuser. I was so foolish for trusting BMW. I put in a claim, and they denied it, without even trying to get evidence of my claim. I plan to continue fighting this case, but my advice to you is never to trust BMW roadside assistance.

2006 BMW 5501 - I purchased my car new from Santa Barbara, CA dealer in December 2006. I paid over $60,000. By the end of 2010, I noticed the paint on hood was fading and a white cloud began to appear. I took it to the dealer, who did not have any suggestions and thought it might be from car washes. But there was nothing they could do, it was not covered by the warranty. It got worse and spread to the roof of the car (but the sides and back look like brand new). I had another shop look at it. He said waxing would do me no good, that the car would have to be repainted and that the car was likely damaged when it was brought in on the boat. They probably repaired it and in doing so, had to repaint or touch up the paint, altering the original paint job and the clear coat finish. I have brought the paint condition to the dealer both in person and in writing, but I get the same answer - not warranted.In addition, the rubber around both my front and rear windshields has totally disintegrated. There is nothing left. I brought this to the attention of the dealer. I was told my car was out of warranty. Other BMW owners have told me they have experienced the same. This seems to be a common problem. You would think BMW could afford to use a higher quality rubber on their vehicles. I have had several issues with this car. A bad exhaust smoking problem, while my car was under warranty, which took months of complaint writing to the dealer as well as BMW North America to finally have them diagnose the problem and make the repair. I love driving the car and the BMW look, but I am so disappointed with the quality and the service of BMW. For the amount of money they charge and the advertisements regarding ultimate driving machine, you would think they would do better in the customer relationship department and stand behind their product.

My wife and I have 2 vehicles. A 2008 Mitsubishi Outlander with 130k miles and a 2007 Ford Edge with 128k miles. We decided to buy a certified pre-owned 2010 BMW X5 with 64k miles on it in March of 2016. Over the last 9 months, we have only put 6k miles on this vehicle and it has been serviced numerous times. We bought an Elite Plus, 2 year warranty. When we do drive this car, we baby it. This past week, we backed it out of the garage and instantly heard the engine fan going at max speed. About a mile later, warning messages came on to drive the car moderately and then to pull over and turn it off. Said the engine temperature was too high. We had it towed into BMW and after reading BMW forums, the exact same problem had happened to many X5 owners. The fix was nearly all the same: Failed electric water pump requiring replacement along with thermostat.Most people had their vehicles fixed for $1400 or less. Local BMW dealer said we not only need to replace the water pump and thermostat, but also coolant hoses, need a coolant flush and the reservoir replaced. $3500 in cost. My warranty is only good for $800 contribution to this problem. I was amazed at the vast number of BMW owners reporting on this problem at 60-70k miles for the exact same issue. One would think there would be a recall on this, but no. I bought a BMW for the Ultimate Driving Machine experience and had heard of its reputation as a reliable vehicle. 2016 has been a disaster for this vehicle and I am not only disenchanted with the need to replace the water pump and thermostat, but I also feel like the BMW dealer is trying to bilk me by replacing coolant hoses and the reservoir when I dont even have a leak problem.

Called BMW customer service to start the process of getting reimbursed for the defective part. Was told it is not covered unless repaired by a certified BMW dealer. What are you supposed to do when there is no dealers within 250 miles. All told this breakdown cost over $2k. Thanks BMW for nothing!!!

I have a 2008 Z4 convertible with an electronic roof mechanism. The problem I am encountering is that the roof retracts into a separate chamber that has not been designed to evacuate the water that accumulates when it rains. So what happens is that the roof motor sits in water and corrodes over time. The repairs are about two thousand dollars each time since it is extremely labour intensive to remove the roof and get to the motor. This is the second instance where I have run into this problem and the roof retraction has failed. BMW are aware this is a known problem with multiple failures each year however are unwilling to re-engineer and find a permanent fix to the problem.

The car is adequate, nothing special, and the run flat tires are a joke... even Hyundai gives you a spare if you want. They run hard and if a flat BMW wants you to REPLACE it at your expense (about $350. Or more.) I took the car to CARMAX two months after I got it. It had 1600 miles and was perfect. CARMAX offered me $35k for the car (21k under sticker). I learned by talking to other dealers that BMW is so overpriced that you will never get out of it unless you take a huge hit. DO NOT BUY THIS OVERRATED AND OVERPRICED CAR. It will take me a couple years to get over this. I am a prisoner in this thing.

This has happened 2 - 3 times already since I bought this car. Service Center (BMW Murray Motors - Denver) says Fuel Injectors are bad and so this issue. They replace Fuel injectors and the problem comes back after 2 months. Extremely dissatisfied and angry. I am paying too much money every month and have no peace of mind. I jumped the car and took it straight to United BMW in Duluth, Georgia. They informed me that everything checkout fine and I simply needed a new battery. Fast forward 7 months and the vehicle died again while I was driving at a speed of 45 mph. I nearly got rear-ended. My family and I made it home after getting the car jumped, only to have it die in my driveway. Oh wait! It gets better. The vehicle was towed to United BMW in Duluth this morning. I explained the history to the representative named Scott **. Scotts response to me is as follows: 1. You must drive the vehicle at least 20 miles a day. 2. You must lock the vehicle when youre not driving so the system completely shuts down. 3. We recommend you purchase supplemental power for the vehicle to ensure the batter is adequately charged.4. If your fuel is low you may also experience problems.My response to Mr. Scott **: No one in their right mind would purchase a BMW based on what you described! His response, My job is to give you the information. I apologize if your sales representative failed to do so. Needless to say, Im afraid to let my wife or kids operate this vehicle. BMW, IF THIS ISSUE DOES NOT GET FIXED ONCE AND FOR ALL, AND WE END UP IN AN ACCIDENT, YOU WILL PAY DEARLY!

I have a BMW with this aftermarket warranty. The front seat stopped working so I brought it into BMW. They told me that it was the motor, chair rail and regulator that need to be fixed. The warranty people told BMW they would only authorized the motor.. All other parts and labor associated with those parts are not covered. BMW mentioned to them that it all comes as one unit. All parts work together and need to be replaced together. Customer service stated that they did not want to cover it since on the paperwork it only stated MOTOR was to be covered. Seriously??? They are going to cover the motor but none of the components that go along with that motor or what actually needs to be replaced because of that faulty motor?? OHH.. BMW also told them that my oil filter housing is slowly seeping oil and needs a new gasket/seal. Warranty people denied claim stating they will only fix it when the seal is actually leaking oil and not just seeping! Really, so basically lets not be proactive and fix it now before it turns into something major! Then they can cherry pick what they want to fix and leave you with the rest of the bill. I hate this warranty company!

I brought my 2006 325i into the dealership because the molding on the front windshield is disintegrating to the point that the windshield edges are exposed and water will start seeping into the car. The weather strips on the passenger and the driver sides are also ripped, and the roof moldings are peeling and unsightly. Obviously, the materials used when building this car were cheap. The car was not cheap!The dealer indicated that BMW will not cover this service because the car is no longer under warranty or extended warranty. My argument is that if BMW is selling the ultimate driving machine, it should stand behind its product. My son drives a 10-year-old Honda Accord that has moldings in better condition than my BMW!The representative then proceeded to tell me about other services that the car needs: wheel alignment, steering wheel service, etc. that are more important than the aesthetics (molding). I told him that if the molding on the front windshield is not repaired, I will get water damage after the next rain.I will never buy another BMW and I will make sure my friends know how cheaply made the car is, at a very steep price!

I went to pick up my car, paid, got in and drove home for my brother to scream at me “KIMBERLY what the ** happen to your car!” I’m like, What! He said, “You don’t ** see that! I looked and my mouth dropped right away. I went back to BMW. My back bumper was smashed and my light was broken. I was gone not even 10 minutes. The manager at BMW was very rude and nasty telling me this did not happen there. And I was responsible to cover the damage. Someone at BMW while in their possession crashed my car. Backed it in and knew I would get in and drive off. I took my car in for internal problems nothing having to do with the body. I did know I had to do a 360. My main concern was that my car was running properly. Not that my car would be smashed. How does that happen? Then for the manager to be so rude and mean to me blaming me like I did that damage. As he walks in he says to me “looks like someone is going to need a new bumper! That is no way to treat nor talk to a customer who just spent money and then having her car damaged from someone at BMW. Unacceptable. No one should have to go through this. Horrible.

Saturday, August 16, 2014, while going to 2:00pm appointment, drive train error notification came on and 2012 BMW 535 with 6,000 mile shut down on Littleton Blvd. in middle of traffic. While I have AAA Premier, I wanted to give BMW roadside assistance the opportunity to serve a customer in stress. I pressed the overhead SOS button and was connected to a rep who told me tow truck would arrive in 70 minutes, 3:38. At 90 minutes, no tow truck. So I called again and was told tow truck company had blowout and was on its way and would arrive in 10 minutes. At 35 minutes, no tow truck. So I called again and was told BMW roadside assistance would contact the tow truck company to see where they are and would call me back. They never called back. My wife who had arrived earlier who has Parkinsons Disease waited with me. I called again and was told the tow truck would arrive at 4:48... It never came. At 5:00pm, I called BMW roadside assistance again and they said tow truck was delayed and would arrive in 1.5 hours. I called Ralph Schomp BMW in Highlands Ranch Colorado, our dealer and they dispatched 2 employees, 1 to wait until the tow truck company arrived and another to take me to the dealership and provide a loaner. While at the dealer, my wife who was kind enough to wait for the tow truck with the Ralph Schomp employee was a nervous wreck when told the tow truck company Alpine operating in Denver had another 2-hour wait until a tow truck would arrive. This would make it 5 hours later. Finally the dealership called BMW and told them to cancel Alpine and send another tow truck company. Finally, after 7pm another tow truck company arrived and pulled the BMW 535 off the street to a parking lot and said they would come back as they had two more vehicles to attend. BMW Roadside Assistance has proven to be a joke! I will never use them again nor will we ever buy or lease a BMW product. I am a 76-year-old, a retired academic with a heart condition and as a result of BMW Roadside Assistance incompetence, I had to spend over an hour at home resting after the exhausting ordeal to survive the incredible stress they caused. I recommend never to trust BMW Roadside Assistance and we will file an official complaint with the company. Ralph Schomp BMW however are a professional group of people who did everything to solve the major problem of a drive train malfunction shutting our BMW down... Courteous, working over the top to provide needed assistance... while putting their own employees at risk.

I get 48 MPG, and thats with using the battery to the fullest, driving only Econ Mode, and keeping most of my trips less than 16 miles. Ive received 2 recalls on the car already... Also, called local dealerships (Norwood, MA) for a scheduled oil change and to handle the recalls. I cant get into to the dealership till about 3 weeks later with a loaner. If I had a cheaper: Toyota, Honda, Nissan, that definitely is not the case. Those dealers can accommodate in a few days. Ive found you dont get better service or technology with a BMW, you get a brand name only with nothing behind it. Never buying another BMW. Had a Mercedes before, their service was much better.

I bought an 18 month old BMW 520d 2010 version on the basis of the fuel economy stats of 60+ mpg on the open road and 44 mpg in urban areas. I purchased the car from Vines Approved BMW dealer in Guildford, Surrey, UK. In practice, the car is only giving me 40 mpg on the open road and 25 in urban areas. I was given an as new warranty from the dealer and they have fully checked the car and they say that all the parts work fine, .etc but the practical answer is that they dont. A gap of 20mpg between advertised and actual performance is simply not close enough to be ignored.My legal question relates to the product description being completely misleading in their advertising and now they are hiding behind parts performance rather than the operating performance that they sell the car on. I have asked for them to either buy the car back or give me compensation based upon actual performance relative to that which is promised and they have rejected me. My car battery suddenly died on my new 335i 2011. They wanted $195.00 to diagnose the battery and $435.00 (totaling $630.00 for parts, not including labor). What use is a warranty if you have to pay as much to repair it if it was out of warranty? It took them 2 days to diagnose it, and they wanted to keep my car over the weekend. Its not rocket science to replace a dead battery. Its literally a 5 minute job. Im disappointed at the amount of my time that they have wasted. The battery only charges to 10.6 volts (dead cell, faulty product). I have completely lost faith in BMW. I have had transmission problems since 5,000 miles (2nd gear synchro 6MT) that the dealer has failed to replace under warranty. When I purchased the car, it came with 2 bad rims.Heres my current BMW Warranty experience: Did the custom-ordered car come with bad rims? Blame customer. Is the car transmission failing at 5,000 Miles? Blame customer. Does the car battery have dead cells? Blame customer. There is poor communication with customers and lack of communication.

BMW Financial is irresponsible and incompetent in managing consumer accounts. I had an account with BMW and made payments through Moneygram over a period of four months. Moneygram was not informed BMW was no longer using their services, even though each payment appeared to be received by BMW Financial. My car broke down. I took it to the dealer and it was repossessed for non payment, even though I had receipts indicating payments had been made. As a result, I was stranded in another state with a child. And they wouldnt accept the payments, even though cash was offered to immediately cover the payments they purportedly didnt receive. I will never buy another BMW or deal with their financial services, which appear to be managed by over zealous teens. They have no future other than pretending to have authority over people who drive cars they otherwise probably couldnt afford.

I own a certified BMW 335d. In June of 2015 the check engine light went on for the Diesel Exhaust Fluid Tank malfunctioning. This is a device that is needed to make the car USA emissions compliant. I was told by my dealer that the part was on back order for 2 weeks and to continue to drive the car. After 2 months I decided to call BMW Customer care to let them know I needed to register my car in California in October and it needed to pass a smog check. With the check engine light it will not pass, thus making my car fall out of registration. They told me they would help me. After numerous promised dates for the part to fix my car, they told me mine was on top priority and I would get the next one in from Germany. I spoke with my dealer and they told me that since my part was ordered, they received 5 at their dealership that went to other clients that were ahead of me on the list. Their cars did not have the same registration issue as mine, so the priority for those cars to get fixed should be lower. I was not told the truth by BMW of North America. The next one is plain and simple--the next one. BMW of North America is saying it is the field representative that is responsible for the dates and the dealer is telling me it is BMW N.A. Bottom line is they lied to me that I was on top priority and they are giving me the runaround. As of today I am stuck with a car I was told to drive that is now out of registration. Its really nice to make car payments that you cannot drive. BMW absolutely does not care about the customer and they are trained to give customers false answers. They are quite rude on the phone as well. They say I understand, when they really dont care and want to get you off the phone. The customer care department has no real information and they are just put there as a facade. It comes with great pain to say this as the cars themselves are really great cars, but DO NOT BUY A BMW. Great cars, HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SUPPORT.

My 2012 BMW X5 was recalled and I took it to BMW of North Scottsdale to have the work done. They had to remove the oil filter or something and apparently did not bleed it properly. I went on a trip and limped into Denver where I took it to Schomp BMW. They had to replace the oil pump ---it must have burned out due to air in the line. NOW apparently due to the oil pump going out the ENGINE has major problems and the cheapest way to fix it is replace the engine. There is a rocker arm problem with some of this years but mine is not in the VIN # for that problem so is likely a rod.

I have dealt with Victoria BC BMW now for 5 years and am sorry to say that they have lost me as a customer. Forever. Awful, horrible, deplorable service. They simply disregard the clients concerns. Over the past 2 years my vehicle has been in the repair shop to have the following fixed and they simply just say they cant fix the following: a) A car that just stalls out of the blue for no reason. b) Brakes that squeal in reverse. c) Also the brakes needed to be replaced after 10K km!!! Which was not covered by warranty. This is ridiculous and there needs to be a recall on that model - 2018 X1.d) The trunk closes when you are half way inside of it. Very scary. I requested they disengage that automatic setting and they were unable to do it. ???? So I have lived for 2 years in fear of going into the trunk because it would randomly close on me when I was inside of it.BMW VICTORIA- you do not live up to the customer service mission statement of BMW.

I placed a new vehicle order for a BMW X5 in September 2014, at BMW Monrovia, CA. BMW North America (NA) changed the delivery date several times. I had no confidence in them but my sales guy kept telling me different stories why they had to put off the delivery. I finally got my vehicle in November 2014. BMW NA then said they would give me a goodwill check ($1,028) for late delivery.I started to have a nightmare for this check. After two months I did not see the check, I went to ask my sale guy at the dealership. He later told me BMW NA sent a $500 check to my previous address. (My sales guy made a mistake by giving BMW NA that address as I had not lived there for two years). He said he had contacted BMW NA several times to ask for the check. It appears no one there was taking care of this matter.After hard pursuit, I finally had my check delivered to me in May 2015. That is six months later after they made their promise. I had to chase after my sales guy who was lazy by not advising me timely what was going on with this matter. The experience was horrible. There was no such thing called customer service with BMW NA. It is shame you have to keep chasing after them closely for more than six months to do their work. It is a shame with BMW NA.

Had to call today because engine is stuttering on highway AGAIN and need to take back in for additional service. The dealership has had the car in repair status more time than I have been able to drive it! Total lemon in my estimation. I am paying car payments but cannot drive the car.

I bought a BMW with extended warranty which covers paint, tires, windshield etc. I was not told about the full deal. I was misinformed about windshield because their extended warranty only covers it one time! If it happens again no one will help. I was not told and didnt read the fine print. Now I had also coverage for paint and had a scratch in the bumper. They said its accidental or driver error. I dont understand what I should do at this point. All I did was parked the car in the Home Depot parking lot and came back to see the bumper scratch. Now its not covered according to the BMW 3rd party coverage. I asked under what criteria my scratch is not covered and what did you based on? They said picture and some and someone came and looked at it and thinks that its not covered.I went and spoke to the sales manager. He said that you paid $2000 for windshield protection and now you already got the money back and just be happy about it. I paid almost around 8000 for extended warranty. No one is able to help me out at this point. I called IBC and they said they dont deal with extended warranty and ask me to call and talk to my local MP!!! Can anyone help?

Ive purchased 4 and the current 550 will be the last. The transmission problem has been classified by BMW engineers as a characteristic of the car. Should someone that pays $68,000 be expected to accept a car that bogs down when passing? Brakes, rotors and pads replaced at 12k miles, right ignition coils, seat is broke, steer wheel leader coming off, USB connection blows the fuse when used and get ready to buy lots of tires. Dont even waste your time calling their executive center. $250k spent on their cars and they will not get a dime more. Pitiful they will not stand behind their product.

The factory warranty on my 2007 335i convertible expired on June 2, 2011. On May 31, 2011, I took my vehicle to Bloomfield BMW, because the radio would intermittently go off by itself and would not come back on for approximately 15-20 minutes. The dealer was not able to duplicate the problem at that time and no repairs were made. I also reported that there was a squeaking noise coming from the front wheels as well as an unbalanced ride. The dealership provided me with the same diagnosis for this issue. I have in my possession the invoice provided by the dealership during this visit which clearly lists my reports of these specific issues. When my vehicles factory warranty expired 2 days after my visit, I purchased the extended warranty for $1400 from BMW. A few months later, I brought my car in again with the same complaints and received the same resolution. On May 30, 2012, I took my vehicle to BMW of Morristown and reported these same issues. After diagnosing my vehicle, they determined that the entertainment computer was going bad which cost approximately $1300 to repair. It was also determined that the squeaking noise from the front end was being caused by the bushings on the control arms which cost approximately $800 to repair. I was advised by the service agent that these issues are not covered by the extended BMW warranty. I explained that I reported the issues prior to the expiration of my factory warranty. I was given a number to BMW North America customer relations department for escalation. I contacted them immediately. I provided a copy of the invoice documentation that shows my complaints were made during the period of the factory warranty. One week later, I received a follow-up call to notify me that BMW would not honor the repairs because they were not able to duplicate the problem while the warranty was valid (even though I reported it). My request for an additional escalation path was denied by Nick (Customer Service Manager), because according to him, he was the highest level. I requested the physical street address for the corporate office in NJ, in which I was also denied. I am very upset at how BMW decided to conduct business regarding my claim. I would like some direction on what I can do to hold them accountable for these repairs.

A door I rarely used.9) Valve cover and gasket replaced with 89000km (55000 miles), 10) Hole in the valve cover, 11) rust coming through under the rear hatch door. Told by Georgian BMW, Service Manager, who never worked in a body shop I was told, nor his manager, This I was told was due to a alteration. Car has never been in an accident, no record of an accident is apparent. BMW Canada told me to get the dealership to take pictures of the rusted area, Georgian BMW refused. (I won’t step foot in that door ever again and make it a point to tell anyone of the troubles I have with both car and dealership.)12) Doors locked with car running, 13) side plastic plate at bottom of door pops off. Had to use $4.00 tube of silicon on a “fine piece of German Engineering”. 14) Front cowl is plastic and broke off while hitting a pothole in the cold... Did I say...plastic front cowl like in the same plastic in the toy cars my Grandchildren play within the bathtub...but obviously more resilient. 15) Intermittent wipers are stuck on one speed. Told by Georgian BMW this was due to an aftermarket windshield. Odd in the corner of the windshield it reads BMW and I had never replaced it from when I bought the car. Funny that whenever I go into a BMW Shop to repair my car, continuously try to sell me a new and improved model of crap.

Have owned Chevys, Fords, Hondas, Lexus, Jeeps, but none of them compared to the Junk of a BMW. I thought Ford was the worst vehicle I have owned...until I decided to purchase The ultimate driving machine against the advice of my 5 uncles who are mechanics. Thought Why not see what these High class cars? I am now a believer that these cars are sold to wealthy people mostly who know nothing about cars other than the reputation they have amongst the wealthy. With under 100k I had a leaky valve cover gasket, which caused my ignition coils to go out and have to be replaced. After that repair the fuel pump needed replaced then following that the injectors needed replaced. Luckily for me, I bought the extended warranty and those repairs were covered. After it broke 100k miles I pulled out of my driveway and noticed a bunch of steam coming from under the hood. After further examination I found that BMW used a cheap assistance black piece of plastic literally comparable to the material a plastic straw from McDonalds is made out of. Well that cheap piece had crumbled. After repairing that problem, the check engine light came on again, from leaky valve cover again, fouling the ignition coils, again. Immediately following that repair... It has snowed and I was sitting in my car with the heater on, when a big plume of smoke came out from under the dash. I immediately shut the car off and located the problem. Hindsight I should have just let the car catch fire and burn to the ground. Turns out that there has been a slow drip coming from the cabin air filter, which dripped down behind the dash onto the heater fan, which made its way slowly down to the heater fan regulator and eventually made its way inside the regulator, which with a well engineered vehicle, should have just blown the fuse. Instead of the fuse blowing, the regulator grounded out melted the connector inside the regulator and melted the wires down to copper wire about 3 inches down the wire harness. When the repairs were finished, hooked the battery back up and started the car, went to look under the hood to check everything going out just to notice a ton of oil that was spewing out of my oil filter housing between the engine and housing. Oh yeah and heater doesnt work still. Next is the heater fan which had no sign of a short but is now fried too. For how great these cars are suppose to be, I would take it from someone who has a familiarity with working on vehicles. Buy Honda, Toyota, Acura, or Lexus. DO NOT BUY A BMW!! Unless you want to ride in a stylish unreliable Piece of Junk. It is fun to drive when it works. However being stranded on the side of the road, especially in a subfreezing climate sucks. I have had as many problems with this car than I have had with an old 1996 Honda Accord with 300k plus miles on it. Theres now only 112k on the BMW and I am driving the old Honda again. Even my 91 Honda crx with 160k miles has had fewer problems than this car. My BMW HAS even had more problems than my old 92 Ford 250 with 212k on it.If you have the money for a BMW, save yourself the headache and get a Lexus or Acura. I will never recommend a BMW to anyone. In fact I have kept 4 people at work from making the same mistake as me. When I get it fixed to drive again, I am getting rid of it. I will never own another nor do I recommend buying one, unless you like to spend thousands and thousands and thousands on repairs or you like to work on cars. The amount of money repairs and maintenance cost, a person could buy 2 cars instead of 1 BMW.

I own a 2008 335i with 50k miles. I was alerted via the mail that there was an airbag recall. When I called the 800 number and gave them my VIN I was then told it had 3 recalls. I called the closest BMW dealer to schedule repair. I was told they could not give me a loaner car even though I am an hour away and the three recalls would take all day. Upon arriving at the dealer with my wife following me in another vehicle I observed customer after customer receiving loaner vehicles for only routine service. The recalls werent my fault, BMW offered no help at their 800 number.This will be the last BMW I ever own. I own or have owned Mercedes, Porsche, Ford and GM. In this day and age vehicles have issues I understand that but BMW should have stepped to the plate and at least offered a loaner for a 7 hour repair. They did not...This review may not mean much or my one wallet may not mean much to them but they will not receive any more of my hard earned money....

I currently have a 2008 BMW 335i 4-door sedan, and all of a sudden I am experiencing problems with my car. I currently have 58,000 miles on the car, and 2 months ago, took my car in for routine maintenance, and for an oil change. I was told there was a few recalls on my car, which the most important was, replacing the high pressure fuel pump. I havent experienced problems with the fuel pump, however, I was told by my service adviser, this needed to be taken care of. Needless to say, during that time, I received a class action lawsuit letter in the mail, to be a part of, which was Nyugen vs. BMW in Northern California, and put two and two together that BMW was addressing this issue to take care of the problem. Shortly after my high pressure fuel pump was replaced, I started noticing some leaking in my driveway, and automatically knew it was due to transmission fluid, and read all the issues this series was experiencing with leaking. I spoke to my service adviser at BMW of San Diego, and he said sometimes with the change of the fuel pump, there can be residual leaking caused from oil, and when I stated I thought it was transmission fluid, he said to keep a lookout and call him with any other severe leaking. A few weeks later, during the Christmas holiday weekend, I didnt drive my car for 4 days, and when I pulled out, it seemed that all my transmission fluid had leaked out. The puddle was huge. I immediately called my service adviser to schedule an appointment, and when I went in, my questions were very direct as to this model, on experiencing this issue, and he was very vague with his answers, but did recommend I trade this vehicle in, because repair costs are very expensive for this car outside of warranty. I felt like he wanted to tell me more, but wanted to protect himself and the company. So ultimately, I had the transmission oil pan sealed, which all in all was a $600 out of pocket fee. This was last week, on 1/4/2012.Today, 1/9/2012, 5 days after being serviced, on my way to work, I only drove 4 miles and my car overheated, causing the car to lose power and to be stranded on the side of the road. It started up fine. After waiting a few minutes, I drove about two miles before it happened again, and of course, shut the car off for fear it would blow a gasket, and called a tow truck to tow me back home. Im mortified of the thought of more expenses due to this car. This Thursday, Im most likely going to go back to BMW of San Diego, and find out I owe more money for another issue, this car is known for experiencing. Even though I havent given BMW of San Diego the chance to remedy this situation, I lost all faith in this car, and even afraid to drive out of town due to the fear that more issues will arise, and they definitely need to address this matter. A little more history is, I initially purchased a 2007 BMW 335i in Sacramento CA,and only had it one month, before the turbo blew out and the issues Ive been reading about the fuel pump happened. I turned in the car three times, and BMW took the lemon back, and refinanced me for a newer 2008 model to remedy the situation. Now, Im potentially dealing with the same problem all over again, and it petrifies me. Please help!

2013 335xi CPO 3 bent rims sold to me by BMW of south shore Hingham Mass. First I must start by saying Im writing this review with the facts and non-bias against BMW South Shore Gallery. I have owned 4 BMWs within the last couple of yrs. I recently went to BMW of south shore to trade my SUV for a sedan. Upon my arrival I notice that they had a new facility quite spacious and clean. Not many sales folks on the floor... However after a few minutes I was approach by a young gentleman which was quite articulate. We struck up a deal on my trade for a CPO sedan. After signing and ready for pickup a few days later I notice the car was not cleaned to my expectation... So I told them about it and they asked me to bring it back... so I did.After a few weeks later I was driving going 93 north. During my acceleration I notice that there was heavy vibration when the speedometer was 70 mph... I did not think anything of it... I thought this was just maybe balancing needed. Within a 2-week span I decided to call and make appointment to take a look... After arriving at the service area... I was in quite shock because the first thing the service advisor said was you will need wheel and tire insurance... Im like wtf in my mind... Ok I humored him... Then he said hes going to put it on the lift and show me that its not uncommon that I have bent rims? But 3 rims... How the hell did he know that the rims was bent... After putting it on the lift... he called me to look. He stated that 3 of my rims was bent and needed to be fixed. Keep in my mind I barely had this car for less than an month prior to observing this problem.I told them that Im not responsible for this, as this car is fairly new and I just picked it up. I was appalled by the next comment... that its not uncommon to have 3 or 4 rims bent... Seriously. I said I was going to go directly to BMW and complain of this deceitful practices on CPOs... and especially the folks in the service area selling you unnecessary things... BMW puts a lot into their CPOs and South Shore is putting the money back in their pockets... Right now Im still waiting for a call from them to fix my 3 bent rims which they knowingly sold the car to me with. The average driver would not have notice this issue if they were driving at 55 mph... So beware...Always go over the car thoroughly with the sales person... and have them put it on the lift and have 4 tires rotating so you can see if the rims are bent. My wife brought her car there several times for service and each time it has always been a problem because they serviced the wrong thing... including taking off parts and not putting it on back correctly... Theres no accountability with the service advisor... and mechanics. If you do purchase a car please take to another BMW dealer and have them go over it and I bet you will find quite a few discrepancies...

I have been having a problem with my car since I bought it brand new. First incident occurred a week after buying my car at Sandton Auto. I had a problem with my brake pads. They were very noisy and couldn’t brake properly and got to a point where they had to be change within less than a month of buying a brand new car. After that, everything else was wrong in that car. Just after 2 months it started to have this noise in front - could be in the engine, I don’t know. I had to go home (Eastern Cape) so I couldn’t bring the car in. When I came back, I took my car to Zambezi Auto as I am closer to that side. They tried to fix it saying that it’s the cables going to or from the fan. All those cables were changed and my car was there for about 2 to 3 days.I went to collect the car and just before I got home the same day, the noise was still there. I called them and told them that what they did didn’t help even one bit. They arranged for me to bring back the car the following day. And mind you, that this is my only car, I just cannot afford to be taking it in where I can’t even get a loan car or any kind of assistance in terms of transport to and from work. My car spends another good 3 days there with them changing some other cables as well and re-gasing the fan or air-con. Then I went to collect my car again and the problem was still there. The noise was so loud that even people at the robot would turn heads. I told the dealer again that the problem was not fixed. This time around the cables inside my car were hanging around on the passenger sit side where I had to tuck them in. This is a new BMW car for God’s sake.I had to travel to Swaziland, so I was away for a month. When I came back, I had a tire bust and my car was towed to Menlyn Auto. Then, I told them as well about the problem. They looked at it as well and tried to fix it, but no luck. They said there was a new part that was needed and ordered it. And again I had to be car-less for more than a week. They did a test drive and told me that unfortunately the noise is still there and there is something else they have to do. Again, they chopped and changed whatever it was, but still the first day of me collecting the car the noise was there.I called them and told them as well, but nothing happened. I decided to bring it to the dealer I bought it from, which is Sandton Auto. I came with my problem and explained to the manager the whole story and the fact that if I bring my car in, I will need a loan car (which I was promised to get but didn’t). Then my car was booked in (this is the fourth time now in a dealer with the same problem). It stayed about 3 days because they had to keep the car in for testing in the morning to see exactly what could be wrong. They changed something as well and also when I went to collect the car, the noise was there before I could even get to the robot near them. I called them again and told them that whatever they did, it didn’t work because now the noise is getting worse.They booked the car again for the following week. I took my car there again to spend 2 days without a car and having to use public transport because no one could help. It stayed there again and they fixed few things, but still no luck. This time they even changed the entire computer system and this car was even giving false alarm warnings. This is what they told me and they didn’t know why because when they check the key, there was nothing. They also picked up that my PDC was loose (this confused me a lot). I went to them and spoke to the manager of the people fixing the cars, let him hear the noise I was talking about and he told me, Oh, that is a piece of cake. I can fix that easy.” This I couldn’t understand as he was the first person who was called to look at the car the first time it went to them. Now, this is the third time in Sandton Auto. The car was booked in for about 3 days now.The car went in, the system was changed, cables we replaced (now this feels like a second hand car) and everything else that could lead to this kind of problem was looked at by different BMW specialists. So more problems came out: 1. The speakers were damaged. I can’t even listen to proper music without the speaker kicking or vibrating or squeaking. 2. The car is vibrating now (and they did pick this up and said they will look at it). 3. I told them that the car sometimes doesn’t start, it just keeps quiet for a while. And this was looked at. Again, I had to leave my car there till the morning so that they can try and start it in the morning for testing (no loan car). 4. The brake pad’s noise is back (and the car was just serviced).5. The noise is worse than ever.I spoke to one of the employees there. She told me that this is a problem that they are experiencing in all BMWs. And she told me that BMW SA is aware of this problem. Most of the 320 I have this problem and there was a call out by BMW SA to change the fan belt to something else (can’t remember what). And she even told me about her own experience as she was at the robot and she heard this car (BMW) parked next to her with the same loud noise.So after that time I was told that they have to order a new fan for my car and change the entire fan system. This one was a masterpiece. I was asked where I bought the car by someone who was helping me there. I told them that I bought the car there by them and according to me the car was brand new. The reason why he asked this was because the car didn’t look like it was new and the PDC was not a BMW PDC. Wow - that’s what I said. I just said, “Wow.”This was a shock and I am asking myself lots of questions: 1. Could this be an old BMW car? 2. Is it possible that someone sold me a car that was a second hand? 3. Is it possible that this BMW car with these kinds of problems could be a demo or something?Really looking at it: is this possible? So right now I am still waiting for a call (which I don’t think I will get as it’s been 2 weeks already) for the fan and an explanation on the PDC. And right now the PDC is faulty for real. It beeps when you are too close to something. I really don’t know what to do in this situation. I don’t feel like I am driving a new car at all. As I travel a lot, I’m afraid that my car will soon be in 100,000 km where I won’t have the privilege of just taking the car in. I don’t have time to leave my car with the dealer anymore as I have proven that this problem cannot be fixed. I am tired of complaining and being stranded in terms of transport and worrying if this beautiful BMW 320 M Sport car cannot just stop in the middle of the road. A 3 long 1/2 thick sheared and fell out on the driveway. The dealer (Jackie Cooper Imports, OKC) identified it as one of the bolts that bolts the transmission to the engine block. They could not say why it broke and BMW USA refused it as a warranty claim even though the driveline is covered by the CPO extended warranty. In the two years I have owned this car it has had the fuel pump go out, the fuse block melt, the water pump fail, and both catalytic converters fail.The dealer said call it was BMW USA, BMW USA would do nothing other than refer me to the dealer. This is a legitimate warranty claim and they are refusing to cover simply stating that is not covered by the warranty. No explanation, no body to talk to who can do anything about it. The warranty is not worth the paper it is written on. I love their cars, I hate their company. The dealer has been equally useful.

The purpose of me sharing this with you is that The Ultimate Driving Machine did not turn out to be ultimate for us! This was a very traumatic experience for us. My daughter and I still have nightmares about it. Thank God my daughter and I got out of the car in time before it bursted into flames. Please note this car is not even a year old and less than 7000 miles! The worst part was I was scared and panicked as I could not open the wing door. This happened on September 2nd 2017!

I took my vehicle to BMW and they refuse to perform the necessary repairs included in the ccp, my crankcase valves, also the cooling hoses. All this is included in the class action suit they claim I have a engine leak. The engine is leaking because the valves are worn and need to be changed. I need help getting them to conform to the ccp. The people at BMW say I need to replace my engine at a cost of more than 15 thousand dollars and due to the mileage on my car 106 thousand they are on going to pay 4 thousand dollars. So I’m stuck paying more than the car is worth unbelievable. Don’t buy BMWs because it’s only a matter of time before your valves go bad as they use plastic parts throughout the engine.

BMW X1 is a wonderful auto. But lease is expensive and living in NYC means that use is limited. This is because of traffic congestion, crazy bike riders and poor driving habits of many motorists. Insurance cost is also too high as is parking. So not economically feasible for such a high priced vehicle. But I love it. Next time may buy Subaru or use on demand car rental services by BMW/Mercedes if they develop here in NYC.

I got scammed by BMW. I entered into a 2-year lease in 2016. Few months before the lease ends, I purchased additional miles. I was told that any unused miles will be refunded. I returned my car yesterday and guess what, they refused to refund my unused miles. However, they found my left rear tire was a little bit more used than the other ones and they charged me $300. Plus the extra $350 fee to close the lease...Not only that but last year, I was in Europe for a month or so and totally forgot to pay my monthly charge, was 30 days late and paid as soon as I came back to the US and opened my mail. That was the only late payment I had during my entire lease. Well guess what, BMW reported it right away and my credit score got impacted so bad it prevented me to purchase a house. I wrote a letter to try to solve this issue, they ignored it. BUT the sales team kept harassing me to try to sell me a new lease... Yeah, you guys can keep trying. I dont want to deal with BMW EVER again!

Several months ago BMW sent me a letter to bring my car in to be service for a recalls and/or updates. They returned my car stating they would contact me later to finish the job after a part they needed came in. A few months later they called me to bring my car back in. A week later, I received a call from a service department person saying they broke the engine coil off my car and will have to take the whole engine out now. Im nervous because my car was driving fine before I got the letter and the call to bring my car back in to BMW. The guy who kept communicating with me said hes going on vacation for a week but someone else he named would be taking care of things. No one contacted me about my car. When he returned from vacation he called. He said he was back and they are waiting on a part and when it come in they will pull my engine out.I asked, Will it driving like it was when I bought it in? He replied, It should be better. Im knowing, nothing was wrong with my car. I didnt even know why or what needed updating. He said the mechanic is going on vacation now for a week. A week later he called saying, Im just calling to keep you informed and we have another car engine on the table right now and as soon as we finish with it, were going to put yours on it. My husband is in from Florida and hes asking me how do a car going in for updates end up having the engine pulled out of it? He following up saying, Once they pull your engine it will never drive the same again. Another friend whom is a Director at a college stated they would have to give me a warranty stating if anything happens to my engine they will fix it no matter what the problem is or give me a new car. Im more scared and upset.The following week the service person call me again on Friday saying, Well we finally got your car in and getting ready to work on it and you should have it back by Tuesday or Wednesday. So far they have had my car a month so I drove to BMW when they were closed on that Sunday and across the street from them sit my car with a small plate hanging off the front of it by a wire and parked crooked. Now, Im upset and all trust of the one keeping me informed is all out the window. I called and left him a message about me seeing my car on the other lot. He called back saying they are working on it now and it should be ready by the end of the day. I said to him, Im concerned about my car sitting for weeks and whether it will run right. He told me they ensure whatever parts they put on it for two years. I didnt feel that was good enough.I got a call from him later saying, Your car is ready but in all honesty I just dont feel right giving you back your car without the mechanic driving it for the whole weekend and hes getting ready to put some miles on your car. I said, Well have him drive it on the highway to make sure its driving ok and he said he will. Maybe the mechanic is driving it out of town for the 4th of July.My car is a fully loaded pearl color 750Li xDrive Super Sport Twin Turbo Engine, which I made a payment on in June as it sat on BMW lot due to their mistake. They tried to put me in a 3-Series. I wouldnt take it so they put me in a 5-Series with Sam Swope courtesy vehicle in big bold letters across the back window and had me return it because they sold it, they said. I had it for over three weeks. They put me in a black 5-Series afterwards that is more up to date and I still have it. Basically, BMW has had my car for about 6 weeks and the mechanic still have it at his house right now somewhere.

When I explained that I move a lot and that the chances of me still being in the area when the lease was over were slim they said that wasnt an issue. They said they worked with military people all the time and knew how everything went. Well 3 years goes by and I have to turn in my car. I was told if I turned it in with miles to use Id be reimbursed. I was 8,000 miles under didnt get a penny. Then I am told I have to pay a 300 dollar fee for not getting another BMW. So I was not happy to say the least... then a year later I get a bill for property tax in a state Im not a resident in and never even registered the car in.Apparently they like to leave out that because you lease it means the title belongs to them not you and the states dont allow the exceptions because the title is owned by BMW. Horrible experience trying to deal with this and in the end had to pay a tax I never should have had to pay. Stay away from BMW leasing if you are a Soldier.

I have a 2013 BMW 328i with just under 40,000 miles. The fuel pump went out last Friday 6/15/2018. No excuse for a fuel pump going out at this point. It is still under the 50,000 mile warranty criteria, but over the time limit. I received no satisfaction from the dealer or BMW customer service for replacing the pump at no cost or reduced cost to me. Apparently BMW values dollars over customer service and reliability. Highly recommend against anyone purchasing a BMW.

Share my unfortunate experience with BMW quality! I bought a BMW X1 about 4 years 9 months ago. Troubles started just after bought it. This and that warning lights came up often. After about one year, the battery drains all the time, have to replace the whole electric and battery system. A few weeks ago, just about 9 months out of the warranty, I drove it to Utah for a vacation. When I drove back home, it broke down in a city with transmission malfunction warning on the way. I have to tow it to the city BMW service for repair. After spent more than $1200, I still cannot drive it back home. It needs to replace the transmission, costs more than $11000. Left me with no other options, I have to sell it to the BMW dealer cheap and rent a car back home! This car only has 47000 miles, the transmission is gone!

There are so many issues reported for this vehicle (BMW 745), they have become essentially worthless, so my issue is not with any particular problem as most have been stated already. My issue is that when is BMW going to be held accountable for not doing their own issued TSBs when the vehicle was in for service and still under warranty. Okay so now I will state a particular problem (like we need another). COLD CLIMATE CONDITIONS TSB S.I. B11 01 07 October 2007. In a nutshell it states that in cold weather conditions, the crank case ventilation valve may freeze causing a leaking oil filler cap, leaking or broken valve covers to complete engine failure. What does BMW mean by extremely cold climate conditions, by reviewing forums etc. where the problems have been reported. This extreme cold area appears to be anywhere that it might snow! Being located in central Alberta, Canada is now apparently the equivalent to being in the arctic circle, then again so it would appear for locations as far south as Michigan. One must wonder where the BMW engineers developed the car, my guess Germany, but alas it would appear that Germany must have been unseasonably warm during the testing of this engine. How this is not a mandated recall is beyond my comprehension. But wait it gets even worse! So the valve gaskets start to leak in fall of 2013, I take it in for the repair and the work is performed, but leak persists, then it is discovered that the BMW dealer here in Edmonton supplied, standard valve cover gaskets, not the gaskets referred to in the TSB issued in 2007. Being Edmonton, why would they even supply any gaskets, that were not cold weather approved. Its just not an issue with the 7 series as it also exists in the 6 and 5 series. When it comes to the X5 AWD, where does BMW think their North American customer base is... California? I am the original owner and the car has all off 114,000 Kilometers on it. Does BMW make a good car... no, do they care... no, would I ever buy another ....no. Would I recommend anyone buy one... no. Hopefully this complaint will be read by people doing research prior to purchase and they can avoid the incredible frustration of being a BMW owner.

I would like to share my disgust and aggravation with BMW Assist. Last night, after dropping my son off at soccer practice in South Florida, I placed my dog and my purse in the front seat of my BMW X5. I proceeded to close the door and walk over to the driver’s side. To my disbelief, all the doors were locked and my dog was stuck in a stifling hot vehicle. I called BMW Assist frantically, requesting that they open my door. They asked for all my information including my address, vehicle VIN, etc. The only information I was unable to provide them with was my enrollment date (as all the paperwork, along with my dog), was locked in my vehicle. I begged the woman to ask me any other security question. She said “sorry, I can’t help you”. I told her my dog was dying and suffocating in the vehicle. She said without this information she was unable to send a signal to my car. She was rude, unsympathetic and didn’t care about my dog’s well-being.We called the police and the city sent a fire truck and policeman to assist in saving my dog’s life. Luckily, however, my son was able to sign into our account, from home, and retrieve the necessary information before the police needed to get involved. I was so upset that I called both BMW North America and BMW Assist. I was told that this was a security measure to avoid theft. I would rather my car be stolen than to lose a life. What would the woman have done if it were a baby? Let the baby die to avoid potential theft.I am sorry, but I choose life over theft. I was also told that the woman could have opened the vents in my vehicle but never offered to do so. BMW Assist supervisor also told me that she should have informed me with an officer at hand, that she would be allowed to send a signal. Neither step was, however, taken. I am very fortunate that my dog is alive, but unfortunately from no assistance provided by BMW. This is unacceptable and procedures and policies should be established so that this never happens again.

I have owned my 1995 BMW 740i since I graduated High school and received it as a graduation gift. The car now has 145,000 miles on it and is still running. BUT along the way it has developed bad valves and valve guides, the transmission has started to shift hard sometimes and I believe it has developed a rod knock. Yes the car is exceptionally comfortable and all the electronics still work, and is very fun to drive for a 2.2 ton luxury sedan, but a $65,000 car should not have these kinds of issues at 145,000 miles. These cars are very complicated and do have problems as a result, but they should not be having MAJOR mechanical problems 3/4 of the way through their life. I also realize that if youre going to drop that kind of money on a car you should be able to afford the repairs, and luckily I can, but I shouldnt have to!! I just want a luxury car that isnt in the shop every week, my Mercedes was a COMPLETE piece of junk (and it was new) and my 3 year old Audis tanny went out at 56,000 miles. So its sad to say but honestly my BMW has been my most reliable, and thats not saying much.

BMW has had my vehicle for over a month now for repairs. The car is less than 4 years old and has less than 35,000 miles on it. I bought the car brand new. This is not the first time my car has been in the shop. There have been numerous other occasions prior to this time. I am emailing to express my dissatisfaction with the whole matter involving my vehicle. I am very distressed at the fact that it has taken this long for BMW to diagnose the problem with my car. I have stated before to BMW North America, I have reason to believe I was sold a lemon. I was also forced to buy a battery recently (receipt of 11/2/13 for amount of $898.68) to what I believe was an original defect with the vehicle. To say that I have been not only depressed but suffering mental anguish and frustration is an understatement. I am not pleased with BMW. I have strongly suggested some other recourse in this matter but I still get the run around. Please help me!!!!

My 2005 645 CI is as awesome as it is a nightmare. It drives great, it looks great but I have had problems with the convertible top since I bought the vehicle. While driving with the top closed, a warning comes on: convertible top not locked. At this point the convertible top and the rear window cannot be operated, and if the rear window was open at the time that the warning came on, such window is stuck in the open position. At times such warning disappears while I continue driving a few moments or a few miles, at times it disappears after the engine has been shut down, and at times it continues to stay on until the problem is fixed by the dealer. The car has been at the dealer for this reason more than 15 times, the rotation sensors have been changed three times and they have been re-adjusted and/or re-positioned the other times. In 2010, I wrote about such problem to the management of the local dealer, as well as to BMW USA. The malfunction continues to happen, regardless. I just got back the vehicle from the dealer 2 days ago (beginning of August 2012), still for the same reason. I am reaching the point where if the problem re-occurs, I am going to dump my loved/hated car.

The following summer in 90° weather same situation after a few hours of driving air-conditioning stopped. Brought it to a different dealership, problem was fixed, it was not. Currently two weeks ago in June, driving back from the Jersey shore and 98° weather I stopped at a rest stop and left my daughter and my dog in the car. When I came back I found that the air conditioner had stopped, my daughter who has down syndrome, my dog suffered mild heatstroke. Contacted Bmw multiple times. They tell me that nothing is wrong with the car. And have yet to buy me out of my lease. So worst company ever, this car is a lemon. There’s nothing but problems with these BMWs. Do not purchase or lease then.

One month later, the right rear light is not working so i have to go to the dealer again. What really troubles me is that last weekend I am waiting for my friends in my car which only without the engine in 20-30 minutes, the battery is dead. When I called roadside assistance from BMW, this guy cannot even find where the battery is located and he tried to connect his equipment with something looks like battery besides the engine. When I pointed out to him that the battery may be located in the back, he used his equipment which is not fully charged to jumper my car. Of course, it did not work so he insisted that it is my battery problem and even told me to tow the car on the next Monday. And I called BMW again to ask for sending a professional roadside assistance to me, which should not be the previous one. They promised the new guy will come in two hours. It is already 10pm on Sat night. After two hours, it is close to 12am, the old guy called me again and said BMW send him again and he wont come anyway. I am so frustrated. I have to call my friend to pick me up and interestingly, my friend used his jumper and it worked. It should be much easier but BMW assistance just made things more and more complicated.

Once they came off, whole cam shaft was scarred and front end was falling out. Car had 75 thousand miles on it then the starter went 5000. Worth of damage not covered.

On 17 December 2015, my wife brought our 2011 BMW X5 to Elite BMW in Ottawa due to low coolant light appearing on the cluster. The dealership conducted almost two-hour diagnosis and determined that our vehicle requires a new water pump, thermostat and some oil gasket. The job should have been finished at the end of the day and my wife was waiting a phone call to pick up the vehicle. My wife did not receive the phone call and now it was 18 December 2015, 2 PM. My wife called to the dealership querying the vehicle. She was put on hold and then the dealership promised to call her back. My wife did not hear anything and then she called over one hour later again, now the dealership admitted that there has been a problem with our vehicle. In the process of repairs (i.e replacing water pump, thermostat and engine oil gasket and oil), the technician during is test drive (at least the dealership report states) had seized the engine. The technician had completed the work and replaced the engine oil (as they say) and was in process conducting the road test when the engine seized. Now the dealer is denying their responsibility and is suggesting us to buy replacement engine? How generous, they are even helping us to find cheaper used engine? Dont we have laws in Canada? This should not be even a question, i.e. you broke it, you bought it. Elite BMW is now working with BMW Canada and in preliminary discussion, BMW agrees to cover off 60% of the cost and the rest is collected from the customer based on the general manager, as the dealership is trying to wash their responsibility of the accident. The whole accident is tarnishing the BMW brand. The way situation is handled is less than it is expected of the brand. This is cheap shot and poor representation of the brand and is turning off customers and investors from the brand. Mierins Automotive Group, especially Elite BMW is keeping their promise: creating a dealership experience like no other. The truth does not lie in words rather than actions. Indeed BMW military appreciation program is to sell smiling in front of you and stab you on the back - thank you BMW Canada and Mierins Automotive Group! We provided the complaint letter to the service manager (Isabelle), basically stating that you broke it, you bought it. The BMW Canada agrees to cover off 60% of the cost of the engine rebuild and the dealership and the general manager and the service manager deny their role to the cause of the damage. The general manager offered the engine rebuild for approx 15,000 CAD, which we have doubts as the technicians failed the water pump replacement. In a discussion with the senior technician, he mentioned that the dealership have difficulties to find and retain technologically incline technicians as BMWs are challenging vehicles to maintain and repair. We as consumers should have rights and laws protecting us. When a vehicle is left to the dealerships care, it should be returned minimum at the same condition it was left there. We are a military family and protecting this country and its citizens and this is the thank you for the service from its citizens as return.

I purchased a Certified 328i from Keeler BMW in Schenectady 10/15. The car had 29,000 miles on it when I purchased. Certified means that the car should be covered for most issues until it reaches either 100k or 3/12/19. My engine blew within 9 months of owning the car. BMW first tried telling me that they werent sure this was going to be covered. After threatening to sue, a new engine was ordered from overseas and covered. Shortly after, there was a recall and the oil line had to be replaced. I was told this would take 4 hours. I waited for over 8 hrs. Only 2-3 months later I found over an inch of water in the back of the car which soaked through the floor mats and through the carpet. The door seals broke. Yet another fight with BMW because they first claimed that this happens and that the door seals werent covered.They eventually covered them but never bothered addressing the fact that the carpets were soaked for weeks while I waited for an appointment to get the seals fixed. One would think that they would dry and professionally clean the carpets to rid of mold and mildew. They didnt bother, so now theres a lovely smell of mildew throughout my car. This brings me to one of the rear doors not opening for months due to the lock not working. I can only assume this is because water was running through the door panel when the seals werent working. Another fix. Theres a short in the passenger seats sensor. I have to keep the seat belt buckled when the seat is empty just so the annoying beeping will stop. I noted this as one of the items to be taken care of when I dropped the car off to have the door seals replaced. The dealership neglected to fix it. The bluetooth doesnt work. I have to have my phone plugged in, it wont pickup otherwise.As of todays date, 07/31/2017, my car has 70,000 miles on it with coverage thats supposed to extend up to 100,000 miles. The car sounds like a go kart when I start it and turn it off. Ive contacted BMW several times asking what they will do in terms of a tradein. Im tired of having this car serviced and out of commission for days, at times, weeks. I use my car for my business. There are certain standards that should be met by BMW considering the consumer is paying for the brand name and customer service that is supposed to be associated along with. If I wanted a car that was going to be in the shop every month, Id buy a 3k beater off of Craigslist. BMW has only offered me $1,500 towards a NEW BMW as a resolution. Completely unreasonable. This car is a LEMON. I would expect the company to recognize this and offer a more reasonable resolution. This is my third BMW. Wheres the customer service? Perhaps at Mercedes.

Needless to say it ruined my vacation having to spend my time dealing with BMW and leaving it in CA while I had to rent a car to get back to NV. 2 weeks in the shop and no loaner car given. BMW offers a reunite program but only 250 miles or under warranty repairs. I call BS! They want to charge me the difference in mileage for the return of my vehicle which is $250. For the amount of money I pay to have this luxury vehicle they can’t get it back to me? I had to get a rental car to get home, now I have to buy a plane ticket to go get it and drive it back? No one will help me and I can’t even get through to customer service. I will never purchase another BMW again. I’m going back to Toyota. They treat you a whole lot better.

I purchased my 2012 BMW X5 last November with 18K miles and a factory warranty. I brought the car in for its first service (in June, the computer told me) and oil change and to fix the tire air sensor. After the oil change was completed and supposedly the air tire sensor was fixed, I was told to call the service rep if I had any more issues. Well within a few minutes of leaving the dealer, the light flashed on and off and has been doing this ever since. Well I took it in today for another schedule service apt. - rear brakes (the computer told me too) - and to again check out the tire air sensor. I was told this would take one or two hours, so I waited (I was told they were out of loaners). (Note: work is over an hour away and home is 1/2 hour away). After over 3 hours, I got the car back and was told that I would have to come back yet again to fix this complicated tire air sensor - a couple of days will be needed to troubleshoot this issue, which I dont really care that much about. Air sensors are problematic on a lot of cars. I got in my car and the car said service check (computer) in two thousand miles (about maybe 6 weeks for me). So back at the dealer soon.Well I regret buying a BMW. It is an excellent ride. I didnt realize I would be spending so much time at the dealer for service for a late model car with relatively low mileage. So not worth it unless you live within a few minutes of the dealer. And yes the dealer will give me a ride anywhere! I work for myself, so every hour I am sitting in the dealer is an hour I am not getting paid for. I wish BMW would take some consideration for our time and realize not all of us have time to visit the BMW service dept. every month. I hope to get rid of this vehicle soon. So now I have to bring the car back for the third time - for the same issue. Oh well thats what I get for buying a BMW.

Im a long term BMW customer that took pride and enjoyment in driving BMW products. I have purchased 4 motorcycles and 2 cars. Sadly, I had the misfortune of purchasing a 2009 BMW 1300 GT (vin # **) with 11 pages of recall repairs. I purchased the bike from BMW of Oklahoma in 2010. The bike was a demo. I have found out that the dealer had stalling problems with the bike because in 01/23/2010 (6510 km) the shop worked on testing software. At time of purchase, I was not informed that the bike had a serious problem or that BMW had issued a Recall 09V471000 on the bike - Engine stalling could result in vehicle crash dated 12/04/2009. Remedy: BMW will notify owners and repair the motorcycle free of charge. BMW did not notify me of the recall. If I had been notified of the recall, I would never have driven the bike and would have gotten in touch with BMW.On 07/29/2011 (33234 km) I took the bike to Bobs BMW because the engine was stopping: again testing software. On 06/22/2013 (65734 km), while on vacation, I took the bike to Eurosport BMW of Asheville for the same problem: same repair. I did not ride the bike in 2014. I started having same problems again this year. While on vacation, I stopped at BMW dealer of Montreal on 07/08/2015 (38493 miles). They said the problem was not software but the stepper (idle) motor and airbox. On way home, I stopped at Velocity Cycle BMW dealership. They made the same recommendation as the Montreal dealer.I have been in touch with BMWs customer service and all I keep hearing is stalling tactics: bike is out of warranty, waiting response from regional representative... Im tired of being ignored and given bad information. Its fortunate that Im a good driver and have not crashed when the engine stopped. I have taken the bike off the road and will not drive it. Will someone in BMW please take action and solve this problem.

Most recently, my service adviser, Richard ** insisted I missed my appointment day because the online appointment scheduler didnt catch the update I sent him, even though I was sent an email reminder for the day I showed up. ** left me a message on estimates but never answered or returned a call to confirm authorized work. I left a message with the service manager, who never called back either. I never saw him while paying the invoice and only while driving home and the left signal stop working did I realize they disassembled the tail light power supply.Last month, I made an appointment over the phone to have the door handle fixed at Classic BMW of Plano. When I arrived that afternoon for the arranged appointment where I described the issue, they said they wouldnt even look at it until the next day, if I leave it overnight. I left and called for the service manager. He/She never called me back. I talked with someone at the BMW USA toll free customer service center. They never followed up.Last year, I had a bad experience with BMW of Dallas and ** when I explained the passenger window was rattling, ** kept the vehicle the whole day and call me later to explain the rattling was music CDs in the door pocket. I took my husband back with me who demonstrated the rattling noise without the music CDs in the door pocket. We had to bring the vehicle back another day for repairs. Back in 2007, I wanted to purchase a vehicle from BMW of Dallas and they wouldnt let me test drive the vehicle. Because of this, I shop and purchase my vehicles from Autobahn BMW in Fort Worth.I love driving the ultimate machine. I have never complained about the expensive cost of maintenance even though reliability is awful for such a high priced vehicle. My biggest complaint is the service I receive at the Dallas area dealerships. And because service is so poor, it is time for me to admit to my friends and family BMW is a poor option and consider another make of vehicle.

I reported the same problem again on 7/14/11. Alderson in Lubbock, TX said they could not determine any leak or source of odor. The odor continues. My wife has emphysema and this odor affects her breathing as well as mine. How can I get this problem fixed?

I got a lemon. This is the most expensive car I ever paid for. I had driven many different types of cars. So far this 2009 BMW 335i gave me so many troubles. My car is 19,500 miles and since December 2011, my car had been at the shop for 13 times. It’s in the shop again right now and I dont know when Im going to get it back. Its one problem after another. BMW advertised their cars as the ultimate driving machine, I think the quality of their cars had felt way below standard. There is nothing I can do about it since besides selling it. Dont bother to call their service manager or BMW of North America to waste your time. You will be going around in circles and you will find yourself angrier with gaining nothing. I had drove BMW for many years. Bottom line is, do not buy any BMW, the quality of their cars is not built like before.

I ordered the wiring harness for the lights at that time. They had been on BO nationally and in Germany for months at that point. Today Im told by BMWNA customer relations that BMW will no longer be providing that part for the older X5s. Im SOL.Its past their mandatory 10 federal regulation, so if you dont like it buy a new model to tow anything with. I currently own: 1999 BMW M Coupe, 2004 BMW X5, 2005 BMW K 1200LT. Previous: 2007 BMW K1200GT, 2002 BMW K1200RS, 2009 BMW R1200GS, 1995 BMW 318, 2004 BMW 750. Do you think I will buy another one? Is this any way to treat customers? BMW Financial has various rates at various times when shopping for a car. So make sure you take your time, then jump on your auto of choice when you can get a good interest rate. The website for BMW Fi is NOT user friendly. Every time you want to get online you need to ask for a code. Then hopefully enter the code in the time allowed, or you will start over. The courtesy and friendliness of BMW Fi can be a lot better than it is. Overall, I would certainly not recommend them, but this is what is offered at the dealership. Ive had 3 car loans with them and they are all problematic in one way or another.

I explained to Ms Jodi ** that my experiences with BMW technicians that either rigged or did not properly repaired my vehicle. After not being satisfied with case managers decision, I requested to speak to the department manager, and it was denied. Ms. Jodi ** just simply told me that she was fully capable of making a decision and would not forward me/my contact information to the upper management because they are there for administrative purposes only! Now, being a member of an administrative e system myself, Im sure that Ms. **s supervisor is not aware of her management style/behavior.I have a BMW X5(4.4) that windows frequently fail/collapse since its purchase, without warning. Yes, it is out of warranty but, I purchased upscale vehicles for their history and dependability. I have influenced many into purchasing a BMW, even my husband. But, I promise you and vow, that I will convince even more why not to purchase a BMW. I am very disappointed on how BMW treat their customers, especially, Ms. Jodi **. We do own other luxury vehicles, and if we have to turn all our BMWs into their brands, Im a sure that the other brands wont mind.

My first and last BMW ever! In summary: 1. A history of engine light-on events. 2. Uncommanded engine runaway at 70-80 mph. 3. Was over 2.5 months in the BMW Service Department, discovered cylinder heads that were full of gunk and carbon build up but no root-cause ever provided to Customer about vehicles engine safety issues. They did not have a clue. 4. No Customer restoration process, as Customer had asked for in writing. 5. No extended vehicle warranty offered, no equal trade into a (safer) other vehicle with similar mileage, just a Sales Person trying to take the Customer for a ride by offering inflated pricing for a replacement vehicle.The story - I bought an all new 2010 335d at Joe Self BMW in Wichita KS and experienced a history of engine light-on events. On Jan 13, 2013, I was driving vehicle at cruise control at speed setting 83 mph on turnpike at 11 PM. Suddenly engine light came on, followed by a significant reduction in engine power output. Engine was unable to handle power requirement to keep cruise control speed at 83 and vehicles speed dropped to low 70s mph. ECU did not disengage cruise control while engine power was reduced. Suddenly vehicle accelerated uncommanded back to the set cruise control speed of 83 mph. Very dangerous and scary situation. My (1) disappointment about the cars engine reliability and (2) worries about post-warranty life (only 40,000 miles!) now transitioned into serious concern about the cars safety. As a result of this scary experience and obvious engine defect, I brought in my car to Joe Self service on Jan 16th, 2013. I also provided a letter on that day with the request to receive a formal response as how (1) BMW plans to restore my confidence in the safety & reliability of this vehicle and (2) have a discussion about the options going forward. I never received any formal response from neither local dealer, regional service manager nor BMWUSA.After two months of Joe Selfs service fishing - apparently they were unable to diagnose a root cause and replaced one part after another - and me feeling less and less comfortable to get into a car that apparently had undetectable safety issues, I asked the service manager Chuck to assist me again with looking into other options. He never did.I then called Joe Self himself and left a message to see if he was interested to keep me in the BMW family. That call led to the same service manager Chuck calling me again, who promised that a sales person would call me. No sales person ever called me. After eight days of waiting for a sales person to call me, I used my own personal relationships get a phone number and to call Mr. ** (apparently Chucks boss), who consequently put me in touch with Robin ** (BMW Center Manager). I explained my situation and she provided me with some car options to get into a different used vehicle. At that point in time I was not picky about what vehicle. Sadly, the offers from Robin seemed nothing more than NADA average trade value for my 2010 335d vehicle and a few thousand dollars more than NADA Certified values for the replacement vehicle (in this case a 2011 335Xi). Yes, they were trying to take me for a ride. I pointed out that this offer was unacceptable in this particular situation and challenged the apples & oranges value trade provided. I stated, Since you replaced half my engine, why dont you sell my car under this special BMW program with your inflated pricing? Robins response was, Oh no ... we do not want to sell your car to any of our Customer. They may have the same problems you had. That was the moment I realized that buying a BMW at Joe Self was a big mistake.Ironically, vehicle was finally returned to Customer on March 27, after 70 days of repairs and troubleshooting. Customer was shown pictures by Service Manager of a cylinder head, one of the many parts that was replaced, that was full of gunk and carbon build up. Cylinder head was apparently mailed to Germany for further analysis. Service manager stated that this vehicle was probably not the only vehicle with this problem... He also stated that my car was the longest in service at BMW under his tenure and requested me to go gentle on a survey that I was apparently going to receive. No root cause was ever provided about vehicles engine light, significant carbon build up in cylinder head and safety issues. Bottom line, very disappointing experience ... not only from a vehicle reliability/safety point of view, but especially how a Customer restoration process - or shall I say the complete lack of - was handled by the Joe Self team... while trying to take me for a ride. They should be ashamed.

After a couple oil changes and 42M miles the engine had a drivetrain fault and BMW said it was a computer issue and we needed to pay to update our program. A month later we got another drivetrain malfunction fault but this time the oil pump quit on the way to the dealership and the engine seized up. BMW insists this is not their fault and they have no liability.

This is regarding my 16 months old BMW 5 series, RJ 14 CF 0999. As you can read the previous mails, I have been raising the concern for the quality of tyres since May 2018. That is within 4 months of purchase of a brand new 5 Series, luxury line BMW. The tyres installed in the car were Pirelli, and after 3rd incident of car tyre bursting, we took the matter to our nearest and purchase dealership, SANGHI MOTORS in January. We waited for the Sales Representative, Mr Ankit ** over there as he held the car between 24 December to 22 January, roughly for a period of 1 month for inspection and other undisclosed reasons. Finally when enough mails were ignored, I had to purchase an MRF tyre from the MRF dealer shop.Meanwhile on 17th January we renewed the insurance for Depreciation shield and Tyre and BMW secure. In March 2019, the front side car tyre bursted on the highway again leaving us, the owners, yet again stranded on the Highway for the 3rd time since the purchase. Again dusting off all the responsibilities, BMW Service executives maintained that the car was being driven in wrong conditions. Now despite taking all the necessary covers and insurances, I am unable to experience a satisfactory experience with BMW. My family personally own cars Jaguar XJL, Porsche Cayenne, BMW X5, Audi A6, Range Rover Evoque, Mercedes ML 250, amongst our elite cars in our firm, M/s Gulshan Rai Jain II. Never have I experienced such substandard quality that the LIFE THREATENING conditions happen in these cars. The Pirelli tyres have been depreciated at 50% and 25%. Due to the bursting of substandard tyres the rims were also bent. BMW Sanghi Motors have depreciated the Rims at 20% and comfortably charged me that as well.SUMMING UP. I am unable to understand why I am liable to pay for 4 substandard tyres and for 2 rims as well, when the car has not even completed 18,000 kms. If the tyre is substandard and is prone to bursting then the car will come on rims. And if the rims are also substandard, then the company should take action. Moreover if 4 isolated incidents of BURSTING OF CAR TYRES have happened and BMW SANGHI CLASSIC MAINTAINS THAT CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN IN WRONG CONDITIONS. If BMW seriously believes that 4 times car tyre has been bursted due to driving conditions THEN I AM NOT AFRAID TO HIGHLIGHT THIS MATTER TO PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE TO BE JUDGED. I dont want to blame with insurance company, so please dont direct me towards them as they have no role in providing me substandard material in the first place.
