2025 Volkswagen Taos

What is the 2025 Volkswagen Taos

The 2025 Taos is a sub-/compact-SUV (small crossover) from Volkswagen — a smaller, more city-/budget-friendly SUV than VW’s larger models.

It’s designed to balance practicality, fuel efficiency, and usable cargo/passenger space, making it a good fit for singles, couples, small families, or urban/suburban driving.

Powertrain & Performance

Engine: 1.5-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder (TSI) engine.

Output: 174 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque.

Transmission: 8-speed automatic.

Drive options: Front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD) (VW’s 4MOTION for AWD-equipped trims).

Real-world driving character: The powertrain is adequate for everyday driving — enough for commuting, errands, and moderate highway use. According to tests, highway-cruise and everyday driving are competent for its class.

Fuel Efficiency & Running Costs

Estimated fuel economy for many trims: around 28-31 mpg (or roughly 7.4 L/100 km combined), depending on driving style and whether it’s FWD or AWD.

For a small SUV with reasonable power and optional AWD, the efficiency is competitive — making the Taos relatively economical to run among mainstream crossovers.

Interior, Space & Practicality

Passenger space: The cabin provides decent room up front and in the rear for a compact SUV.

Cargo space: With rear seats up, cargo capacity is competitive for the class — and when you fold the rear seat, you get a substantially increased load area, offering good flexibility for groceries, luggage, gear, or occasional larger loads.

Interior usability: Taos offers thoughtful storage solutions (door pockets sized for bottles, a decent centre console bin, seat-back and door storage, etc.), making daily usability better.

Comfort and features: Trim-dependent — higher trims offer better materials and features, while base trims deliver core essentials.

Trim Levels & Price (General Snapshot)

There are multiple trim / drivetrain combinations: from base (FWD) up to AWD-equipped / better-equipped trims.

As with many cars, trim level affects features, trim materials, and additional comfort/convenience options.

Pros — What Taos Does Well

Good balance of size and utility: Smaller than a large SUV but still offering SUV-style practicality — a reasonable compromise for many buyers.

Efficient and modestly powerful engine: The 1.5 TSI turbo gives a good mix of adequate power and respectable fuel economy.

Flexible cargo and passenger space: For its size, cargo and passenger accommodation is competitive, and the ability to fold rear seats gives versatility.

Practical features and storage for daily life: Good overall usability for commuting, errands, small families, or moderate travel.

Affordable-ish for an SUV: As a compact crossover, Taos tends to be more budget-conscious than larger SUVs, while still giving SUV benefits.

Trade-offs & What to Consider

Not designed for heavy performance or sporty driving: Taos aims for balance rather than thrill — if you want sporty dynamics or towing capacity, it isn’t built for that.

In larger-cargo or heavy-load scenarios, roof- or trailer-type hauling may be limited compared with larger SUVs or trucks.

Interior space — though reasonable — is not as generous as bigger SUVs; larger families or those needing 3+ rows will find it limiting.

Comfort and features depend heavily on trim — base trims are more utilitarian, so upgrading trim adds to cost.

If you regularly need AWD (snow, rough roads, rural access), will want to pick AWD — but fuel economy and price will be affected compared with FWD.

Who the 2025 Taos Is Best For

The 2025 Volkswagen Taos suits:

Individuals or couples needing a compact SUV — good for city/suburban driving, commuting, errands.

Small families or people needing occasional extra cargo space — groceries, gear, weekend trips, without the bulk of a full-size SUV.

Drivers who want SUV practicality + reasonable fuel efficiency + manageable size — good balance for daily driving in varied environments.

Buyers who value flexibility and economy over luxury or performance — a practical “do-everything” small SUV, not a performance vehicle.

People who appreciate VW styling and practicality but want something more practical than a compact car, and more affordable than a larger SUV.

Bottom line: The 2025 Volkswagen Taos delivers a well-balanced package for a sub-/compact crossover: efficient turbo engine, flexible cargo/passenger space, and usable everyday practicality. It won’t thrill like a performance SUV, but for many people — especially those wanting a manageable, efficient SUV for daily life — it’s a solid, sensible choice.

TRUE EXPERIENCE - If you are making a decision on what to purchase as your next reliable car, do yourself a big favor and DO NOT PURCHASE A VOLKSWAGEN TIGUAN!!! I had been a loyal VW customer for 15 years and I owned a 2011 VW Tiguan brand new. I had heard that the Tiguan was a reliable, well-made car. I couldn’t be more wrong!!!My major repairs started with the replacing of the rear differential (few gears broke off from a sealed unit), to then replacing the turbocharger which I was told was defective. Then I had the timing-chain break while driving the vehicle, so a replacement was needed, along with a now damaged head cam. To top it all off, the entire engine seizes while on a highway and had to be replaced. The price tag to replace the damaged engine was $11,000 from the VW dealership. All of these major repairs happening at under 80K miles!!!While the sales staff at that particular dealership was very helpful in getting me into a new NON-VW car, corporate VW was the exact opposite. Their reply to me was that they didn’t have a program in place to compensate me for my troubles, despite the obvious flaws in their car models design. The fact that I had a low-mileage car with high out-of-pocket expenses was of no concern to them. So take my advice, and I have nothing to gain from this. If you do not want to pay high exorbitant repair bills, AVOID VOLKSWAGEN AND DO NOT PURCHASE THE TIGUAN!!! This car is unreliable with obvious design flaws throughout. Trust me, I experienced it.

At the end of the Lease, the inspector charged me for damages that do not exist. I called VW, I talked to a supervisor. I explained to her that the inspector (who was rude) charged me for a previous repair without any visible damage, charged me for a dent in the door (there was no dent) and charged me for a dent BELOW the car (need to lay in the floor to see it). She said the only way they will take off those charges was with an invoice from a body shop that states that were repaired. I requested her to do another inspection and she said no, they dont do more inspections, so because I insisted her then at the end she accepted to credit me $200 on the final bill. I went to a body shop, I explained to him what was going on and he was in shock. He told me there was nothing he could do because there was nothing to repair, I should hire an attorney. The day of the car return I explained to the person that received the car all this. He start looking at the car and he didnt understand why I was being charged. I got the final bill a month later and I have been charged in full without any credit.

I had a MAP sensor replaced after the engine light came on. It came back on again after a month. Today driving and less than a 1/2 mile from home a warning came on and read low oil pressure engine off, but it never did go off. I pulled up a few recalls Friday before I left work, one being the MAP sensor and creaking of the suspension (I heard it a few times but thought maybe it was just cold) and worn, cracked CV boots. I contacted the dealer and currently waiting for a appointment to address the recalls. You can find most recalls on the Chiltons Library.

I bought a 2010 VW Jetta TDI Sportwagen because rumor has it that the VW diesel vehicles are solid cars that get good MPG. My car gets decent MPG but the inferior quality of the car more than cancels out any savings I may have had on fuel. Oct 2012 - The fuel pump imploded. $6,600 worth of damage. Aug 2013 - EGR valve = bad. Had to be replaced. $709.53 out of pocket. Sept 2013 - Diesel particulate filter = bad. Had to be replaced. EGR valve had to be replaced AGAIN. $1,714.80 out of pocket. Apr 2014 - Car in limp mode. Turbo = bad. $1,689.94 out of pocket. July 2014 - Diesel particulate filter bad AGAIN. EGR valve bad for a 3rd time in 12 months. Estimate $2,200 out of pocket. August 2014 - Air Condition stopped working. Estimate $1,700 out of pocket.

I purchased a brand-new model of 2016 VW Golf GTI last year. I havent driven it much, which only has less than 4000 miles on it now. Recently, I had a flat tire due to the poor quality of Hankook tire (made in Korea) used by VW manufacturer. My flat tire happened when I was driving on a freeway (in very good condition) when the passenger side front tire suddenly burst a hole in its sidewall with no road hazard present. I called VW local dealership but was told to contact Hankook (the tire maker) directly by myself.Hankook did not follow the companys established procedure for handling tire warranty, but rushed to an arbitrary judgement on tire damage in its own favor, insisting on saying it was caused by road hazard. It never allowed the local VW dealership to fill out a tire warranty coverage claim form on my behalf. I paid $200+ out of my own pocket for tire replacement. I deeply regret that VW chose Hankook over other better tire brands. Hankook tires poor quality makes VW vehicles prone to road accidents. It also makes VW look cheap. For these reasons, I would strongly advise fellow motorists not to consider VW Golf GTI among their purchasing options.

Only owner of this car (bought it new) and it has only 112,000 miles. I have complained about the transmission in this car since day 1. They scan and tell me nothing is wrong with it. Today I was told I need to replace the transmission for $5700!!! I called VW to see if there was anything they could do and all they tell me is that I am out of warranty (ends at 60,000) and there are no recalls. Stay away from this car.

I am part of the VW diesel lawsuit. I think Volkswagen is trying to make me their enemy for life. Five times I have had to send the same legible document, except to anyone who is legally blind, to them. Finally after at least 10 attempts, I got someone on their 800 number. She was polite but totally in the dark as to what is going on and totally unhelpful. VW keeps telling me to hit the non-showing, if non-existent chat button on their e-mail and portal. Show it to me VW!!! They are just trying to see if you will give up. IS this what the court and our lawyers agreed upon. VW, I will never ever do business with you again. Your dealership stinks too!

Everyone’s opinion and experience with VW is absolutely true. AS I was shopping for a new car I did my research on all the cars I was interested in. I came across reviews for VW they were all negative. I took in reviews into consideration, however, I thought to myself that some people just like to complain. My bad y’all. I should have listened and ran the other way. This unethical company is the scums of scums. I bought a brand new 2018 GTI in July of this year. I was treated very very poorly at David Maus VW South. They even charged me for a $600 package that’s suppose to be free, all because the car was transferred from their sister lot David Maus on LEE Rd. A few days after having the car the visor underneath the sunroof retracts on its own. I constantly have to keep pulling it forward, warning light came on saying it cannot detect the key fob. Mind you the key fob is in the cup holder. As of 09/19/2018 the “one touch feature that opens the sunroof stop working. Now I have to open the sunroof manually. Ok y’all so how bout I’m driving on 2 separate occasions when I press the break the lights flicker and the car shuts off!! So in conclusion VW are unethical, criminals, and soon they will be labeled as MURDERS. How can I feel safe in my car when ** like this is happening. DO NOT BUY A VW. If you choose not to listen you might be righting a review like the rest of us.

2019 Passat R-Line Remote Start Doesn’t Work. Upgraded in February to a 2019 simply because of some special features especially the remote start. Well the remote start quit working the next day after I brought the car home. I reported it to the Dealership & Service Department & VW Customer Care & to no avail... No one has done absolutely nothing!! They say there’s an update or they’re working on to fix the issue. It’s going on 6 months after purchase & I have not heard anything from anyone. This is the first time after several Volkswagen vehicles that I ever had to return a car because something doesn’t work & have gotten nothing but the runaround. Very disappointed in VW & will probably will not be a returning customer.

On the 19th October 2017 my Polo Gti which is still under warranty broke down at approximately 6 pm. This vehicle is currently doing 41000km and is still under warranty. My biggest concern or disappointment is that this car gave no warning and just breaks on a busy street with my family in the car. What if this car had broken down in the middle of nowhere or worst in a dangerous area putting mines and my familys life at risk?I then had to wait two hours for roadside assist to tow the vehicle away. I was told the next day by VW Umhlanga that they busy and my car will be only looked at on Monday. After phoning whoever I could I managed to get hold of service manager of VW Umhlanga who said that he will try have a look at the vehicle that afternoon.Saturday morning I got a call saying they did a software upgrade and the car is fine. 1. Why did roadside assist send a tow truck from Mount Edgecombe to tow the breakdown in Tongaat, is that the nearest breakdown services, because I know its not, I personally know a towing company in the area that is VW accredited. 2. Secondly why was the vehicle towed to Umhlanga who was clearly not willing to have a look at the car till Monday. Had I not made a fight about it, and to my knowledge VW Ballito is much closer.I am now worried as this vehicle has a warranty that ends at 45000km or next year 2018. There was no warning of it breaking and no explanations as to why it did. What if it has similar problems as soon as this warranty expires and the headache and costs of this vehicle now becomes mines. I spent 32000 rand on this vehicle and breaking down in the middle of a busy street was the last thing I expected.I am hoping VW comes up with a solution as to maybe extending this vehicles warranty and guarantee this problem never arises at all. If I do not get a reasonable solution from VW I will make sure I complain on every platform be it the ombudsmen or Hellopeter. I just think that breaking down in a vehicle that costs over 300000R without no warning and just be told by the agents its a software problem and we dont know why it has happened is unacceptable. I am hoping to get feedback from you soon.

Occasionally when I take off from a stop and have to suddenly stop or back off the gas and then try to go, the car seems to lag or is suspended between gears (1st & 2nd). Its a lag of about 3 to 4 seconds. The car wont do anything, like its trying to decide what gear to be in. Can be a problem if in the middle of an intersection with traffic coming at you and the car just sits. Have reported to a couple of VW dealers and one said yes he can duplicate the problem but cant do anything to fix it. I have also talk with other Touareg owners with the same issue.

I just bought my car (used) five months ago with +_ 52,000 miles on it. Great carfax, nothing wrong with the car. A little over a week ago, the timing chain slipped and destroyed the engine, causing thousands of dollars in repairs. I have contacted everyone I can think of for assistance with this issue; considering the car only has a little over 61,000 miles on it now. Volkswagen has offered no help with the problem whatsoever. Considering this is a defect in the manufacturing of the vehicle, I would think they would offer some assistance considering the amount of trouble they are in now with the TDI trouble they are in. I have owned three cars previously and never had such a horrible experience with them. I went with Volkswagen because I was under the impression they were a reliable and dependable car. They are far from that. Because of this issue, I now have a car loan for the next 5 years and no car to show for it. I have researched this issue and its not just me with the problem. Many other people have had the same issue before 100,000 miles on their VW as well. If you are considering this brand, DONT! They are of no help and have so many loopholes in their warranty so when something catastrophic happens, you wont be covered. There are so many other car brands out there. Go with someone else. VW is a HUGE disappointment in customer service and reliability. Hopefully, with the current lawsuit they have against them, they will go out of business so no one else has this problem.

We purchased a brand new 2010 Volkswagen Tiguan. It looks like this vehicle is only built to last till 60,000 miles. Check engine light is common thing meaning a frequent visit to the auto shop. Even we always use premium gas so engine still builds the carbon which was a very costly fix. We arent the only ones we have had issues with VW, our friends and people we know who own previously VW had the same experiences. Even my sister who owned a Audi Q5 she had the same issues once she hit the 60,000 miles mark. My advice think twice before you make the purchase for an Audi or VW vehicles. About a month later (definitely not within the qp days VW was supposed to respond). I got a final offer letter. I signed the correct places, had it notarized and faxed it on as directed. Two weeks and two phone calls later to customer support the status remained as waiting for fax. So I faxed the documents again. Another wasted phone call to CS to find out why they dont/cant acknowledge receiving my fax... Then I get an email stating I didnt send all pages of my offer. So back to another fax ($8) every time. Twenty four hours later status is waiting for fax... I have transmission receipt showing all 7 pages were successfully sent. Another call to CS and again they give me a non answer... Hi, I bought my Polo GT from Bhopal on August 10, 2017. I was very happy with the car until I met an accident and gave it for repairs at the Bhopal service centre. I have owned Hondas and Suzukis, but I swear to God I’ve never had such a bad experience with service ever before. I left my car for repairs at the service centre and it took more than 35 days for them to just fix a door, which by the way wasn’t even fixed properly. When you close it, there is still a gap between the door and the body of the car. Every time they promised me to deliver my car on a certain date and every time they went back on it. They kept me waiting. There was also some issue with my insurance that Mr ** never clearly told me about. Now, when I sent my car for repairs again about 6 days ago, they told me that they would fix everything and give it back in 4 days, but they took 2 more days. I thought it was ok and 2 days was not such a big deal. But, when I got my car back last night, the number plate was broken and there is some issue with the coolant. Not a single repair was done instead, the car came back in a worse condition. When we went to give the car for repairs, one of their drivers even took a test drive and admitted that there was an alignment issue, but nothing was done to fix it. The problem still persists.I really don’t know what to do at this point and this has taken a lot of my time. I’m writing to you after going through a lot of trouble. Please help me out as soon as you can. I’d like to lodge a complaint against Mr ** and Mr Rk ** who have been of no help. They both have consistently been lying to me. Last night as soon as I got my car back with a broken number plate, I called ** to inquire but his phone was switched off and he hasn’t been answering my calls today. Extremely disappointed and hopeful for some help from your side!

My son was parked with the engine running, listening to the radio. The engine burst into flames and exploded three times. He was parked up against a building across the street from our apartment. It was determined it was due to a malfunction in the engine, and we were reimbursed for the car by our insurance company. Our son could have been killed, but Volkswagen, which is doing a big ad campaign about safety, refuses to pay the building owner for the damage or to reimburse us for our $1000 deductible. The axel on our 2018 7 passenger Volkswagen Atlas broke 19 days after driving it off of the lot. Took the car back to the dealer and they deemed the Atlas unsafe to drive. This is extremely alarming considering had we been on the road with our 3 small children, this situation could have been very bad. The service department at Stone Mountain Volkswagen was very understanding and set an expectation of 2-3 weeks to repair. They put us in a loaner vehicle a Volkswagen CC. Which was all they had at the time. We could barely fit into the car and the car had no trunk space. The whole reason for wanting the Atlas was for the space and we thought it was a safe vehicle for our family. We dealt with the length of time it would take to fix because we actually thought our car was getting repaired. At exactly 3 weeks after taking the vehicle back my husband and I called to find out what was going on as we heard nothing in regards to the Atlas being repaired. We were told at that time that the dealership was still looking to get the part. At that time they said that it would be another 3-4 weeks. Which at this point we were pretty frustrated and disappointed. We are paying for a vehicle that we cannot even drive, and the dealer has had it longer than we have. We also found out, at the 30 day mark, from the dealership that the company that makes the part had no ETA on when the part would be ready. At this point we were upset. Felt like Volkswagen did not care about a client who is paying for a SUV while driving a car that can barely fit your family. Also upset because during this time nobody proactively reached out to inform us of the situation. We also called Volkswagen Customer Care several times in regards to this and got the same answer, Im sorry but no resolution until one rep named Ryan (thanks Ryan) decided to escalate it to a Region Manager. The manager made calls to my husband while he was at work, when he was able to call back the manager did not answer. He left voicemails for her to call back. She never did. She then called to notify us that the case would be transferred to Retention Resolution Team. We havent heard from them yet. We also called Volkswagen Group of America Corporate Department and we were transferred to the TDI Escalation Department, in which we had to leave another message. After the 30 days passed we overnighted the Vehicle Repurchase or Replacement Request to an address that we received from another Volkswagen Customer Care representative to have the car replaced, which is within our right under Georgia Lemon Laws. Yesterday the Dealership called and said the part would be ready next week. They called back today and said the vehicle was fixed and that we should come get it. This is very suspicious as we do not want a rush job because we do not want to be right back in this situation and if it was this easy of a fix then why was it not done in a reasonable timeframe. It is also suspicious that now something is being done because it seems like they do not want to give us a complete new car, which to my understanding is required by law. This has been a very unpleasant experience, and we never had this problem with our Volkswagen Jetta.

Each month I have to call VW Credit so they remove the tax as it was already paid to my state as they note every month yet it magically reappears and they fix it for the month I call but never for the entire period. I love the vehicles but this will be the last one I have after spending a significant amount of time each month getting this corrected, only to have it reappear on the following billing cycle. Incompetent and probably illegal. They probably wont even pay attention to this. Next stop is to seek legal counsel. I purchased this vehicle new and after the first 30 days my 2019 Tiguan had problems - mainly electrical. I decided to wait on my next payment. I wasn’t even 30 days behind with the vehicle was repo’d. Never will own a VW again. Worst experience ever for a vehicle I only had for 90 days and they sent it straight to the auction so they can get a big balance from me!!

We lease new Volkswagen November 2018. During a family road trip to Newfoundland one morning, there was a mosquito flying around on near the windshield inside the car. In an effort to swat the pest, the windshield was lightly hit and consequently left a crack on the windshield. Although, the night before was rainy and cold, leaving the windshield more vulnerable to cracking. It does not make it okay for the windshield to crack for such a tiny impact. This is most definitely a quality issue with the glass material that composes the windshield. Driving 18 hours home to Toronto from Newfoundland was very unpleasant and scary from the thought of the windshield completely shattering at any moment. After coming back to Toronto, Volkswagen told us that it was our problem that we broke the windshield and that we hit it too hard. But realistically, how hard could someone possibly swat a mosquito. Customer service was very unpleasant during the process and left us very unsatisfied. I hope they can realize that their windshield quality was at fault and that they can replace the windshield with a more durable windshield to ensure my familys safety.

After 6 years of being a loyal customer to Volkswagen, this is the thanks I get. I have a lease that is up Feb. 2016. November 2015 I was called into my dealer to trade out my car for a new lease. I explained I had fallen back on some payments, because I was out of work for a few months due to medical issues. I was making slow payments but doing my best. I had returned to work full-time and was ready to get the deal done with the new lease. They said Volkswagen, would not approve another lease because of slow payments. I was on-time every month for 51/2 years, and as you know real life happens sometimes. In any event the dealer said he was able to work out a deal and I should come in and sign papers. I arrived to the dealership at our scheduled time... waited 2 1/2 hrs. only to be told that there was an error. It was not approved and in fact Volkswagen credit wanted the dealer to confiscate my vehicle right there. They allowed me to leave yeah right gimmicks. I stepped outside and immediately called VW Credit to rectify the situation. They told me to make two payments and I would be up to date, or a least put back in the 30 mark. I agreed, I would go to Moneygram in the morning and get things squared away. Needless to say a few hours later my car was repossessed, from a friends private enclosed garage already suing which means I was followed to location lawsuit in effect. I only owed them $1,000. I had to pay $3200 to get my car back. Explain. Devils. My credit is now ruined, the vehicle is still due back in Feb. and I am assed out!! This is the second time they have screwed me over. I have bought them so much business I got 6 other family members to get a Volkswagen. So glad all leases are coming to an end. We will never support Volkswagen again. I will shout from the Mountain top!! Hate them all. Trust me lease or buy elsewhere!! Please believe me I have so many horror stories dealing with them!!

I brought my 2013 VW Jetta back to the VW dealership for the buyback on March the 24th. They were supposed to have a check ready for me when I delivered the vehicle. They apparently lost it. We received an initial letter saying further instructions for banking info for the direct deposit would follow. Nothing came. After several calls I get told (like others) the claim has been escalated. After another phone call to their claims department I was asked if I had a firewall set up on my email account. I said yes so they asked if I had a personal email account. I was informed it will take 7 to 10 business days to get a email to our gmail account.I called them today the 11th of April for status. We get told they have tried calling to give us information. We never received any such calls. They are liars which is proven by the mess they are in right now. They have now given us a Canadian fax number to send information to. I dont understand that. We now get told it will take another 7 to 10 business days to receive the funds which I highly doubt. It seems Volkswagen is doing everything they can to stall. We have several VWs in our company and after this I will not deal with them again. Completely incompetent company. They have my car and I have no money.

I have had nothing but poor customer service experience with VW USA Custome
I have had nothing but poor customer service experience with VW USA Customer Care. When I called the dealership where I purchased the car in panic after my car brakes failed on the freeway - the salesman did not invite me - ever - to check my car, which is an accident waiting to happened. It is nothing short of a miracle my kids are still alive due to my car stalling at a major and busy street in Los Angeles at least on two different occasions.I have contacted VW Customer Care before the car was stalling - when the driver door was about to fall off - mind you I am 411 tall and weigh 100 lbs. I later contacted VW USA Customer Care again when I started having brake failures and they did nothing whatsoever except waiting for them to get back to me (in a week or so) and then saying that they cant do anything. So when my car started having stalling episodes (2 of them on major streets in Los Angeles), I did not bother contacting VW USA Customer Care but went to the dealership that said they do not see a problem and that they run the car computer system something of that sort and everything looks good.I also like to say that every time I went to the dealership, I had to make sure the right description of what has happened is put down on the work order and not what might look better on paper. Not having a loaner car when I pay almost $400 a month for my car that keeps breaking down is a terrible business practice. The Sun Visor hitting my eye could put me out of work. Fire coming out of the charger while I was driving traumatize both - my very young children and I - Please note that since then, none of the car chargers has been working so I have to rely on a portable charger I have purchased. I truly appreciate your willingness to help but I have lost faith that anything will be resolved because if VW Customer Care did not care that my childrens life and my life are in danger driving a Volkswagen, then why would they care now that my lease is almost ending? True. VW still does not care.

2014 Volkswagen CC Sport - Volkswagens are NOT Hyundais, Toyotas, Hondas or any Ford or GM product. They have a level of technology (as with most German engineered vehicles) that is beyond most other manufacturers. The DSG transmission, the direct injection fuel system, and the ram air turbocharger, allow the 2.0T to produce 200 hp while delivering 30+ MPH. The fit and finish of the interiors are superior to most price comparable vehicles. The handling, suspension and gearing, allow them to cruise at autobahn speed (if necessary) while still providing a quiet, comfortable ride, with good control.Amazing right? Now the not so amazing part. They require strict adherence to Volkswagens maintenance schedule. Volkswagen tends to use a lot of proprietary parts and special tools, $$ to do even routine maintenance. ANY direct injection engine with eventually build up carbon. You can prolong this by using only top tier fuel, only premium octane and throw in a can of Techron now and then. But they will need cleaning eventually (and that aint cheap). I have not had issues with the DSG transmissions in my last 2 VWs. I find it shifts very smoothly, very quickly and in manual shift mode, fun to drive. BUT, they need to be serviced every 30K and that can range from $300 to $500, depending on where you have it done.I love the super bright xenon lights, especially in the CC, which track the motion of the car and follow the road. BUT, those bulbs aint cheap, they run hot, and they do wear out quicker than regular halogen bulbs. So, if you choose to buy a Volkswagen, you are getting a superior, drivers car. A vehicle that is sophisticated, very well built and will perform the job as daily driver with no complaint. Also understand this car needs regular maintenance, quality parts and needs to be looked after. If youre on this site researching a particular car, understand that Volkswagen sells hundreds of thousands of cars that work just fine. Also, from what Ive read, a lot of these issues could have been avoided by good solid maintenance. Yeah, pay the dealership or VW specialist, these cars are NOT for backyard mechanics.

This complaint is in reference to the Driver Side Takata Airbag being recalled as unsafe and potentially deadly. I am leasing a Volkswagen CC. This is the second VW Ive owned. I was notified almost a year ago that my car has been affected by the Takata airbag recall (Driver side airbag) and I have been driving an unsafe vehicle this whole time! There is obviously no fix for this yet and who knows when/if they will ever repair the problem. I have tried working with the VW Dealership that I leased it from as well as VW Credit and also, Ive been trying to sell this vehicle however, as you can imagine no one will buy this VW because of the recall! Who in their right mind would want to?!?! Yet, Im expected to drive an unsafe car and continue paying for it as well! This seems fraudulent and illegal to me yet I have no recourse. This is totally insane!!! Shame on Takata and Volkswagen for getting away with this!!! I requested that VW buy back the leased car from me. They want an exorbitant amount of money and to my surprise they said they couldnt help me!! They said it is an issue for Volkswagen America to fix... So now Im stuck with a vehicle that no one will buy including VW!! Im truly disgusted by the whole experience and the company. Although I cant even put into words what I truly think about this company! This isnt my first VW but it will definitely be my last one!!!

I feel we were treated unfairly by the VW Claims process. Our dealer was Moffitt Volkswagen in Bossier City, Louisiana, they were super. I dont think the 72000 (we bought the owners car with around 5400 miles on it) on our 2014 Passat TDI vehicle was in excess, after all we purchased it to drive not sit in the driveway. The 66000 plus miles we put on should have been a testament to the reliability of the vehicle. Diesel engines are made to roll not sit. I think we should have been awarded the amount $1115.56 instead of $651.00. We will NEVER EVER purchase another Volkswagen because of the shoddy way we were treated. VW Claims Service should have contacted us when submitted our claim. Instead it stayed on someones desk collecting dust when a simple email would have taken care of the missing paperwork. The communications with the Claims Service is deplorable. Customer Services obviously does not exist in your company.

After having issues with our dashboard lights going crazy, we began reading other complaints online. We learned that the issues we were having came directly from a faulty ABS module, and then came across a VW recall on our car for the ABS module. After talking to VWs Recall Department, they told us it did indeed fall under the specific recall, and we could take it into any dealer for a fix. Our car went in on a Tuesday morning, and after 3 days of poor customer service and no answers, the mechanic let us know the ABS Module would not be covered, and we would have to pay out of pocket. He said he had even called VW directly to verify they wouldnt pay for it. We were then quoted $1300 for the repair, plus a $225 diagnostic test. He suggested I call them directly.I called the VW Recall Department again, and told them what happened. I let them know my biggest concern was the fact that they told us our car was part of this recall, and they were now unwilling to fix the issue. I also let them know the ABS brakes have always caused me issues, nearing killing me when I lost control while braking once. They said they would write it up, and look into it and get back to me in one business day. I am waiting to hear back, but there has been a lot of reason to think they will just use some excuse to not replace something so dangerous and faulty. Well see.

UNFAIR! I was an outstanding VW client and yet, VW was UNFAIR and DISCRIMINATORY to me! I leased a VW Jetta three years ago. I made all of my payments and have paid my vehicle down to its residual. I called VW credit and got a payoff and the payoff is my residual plus a $350 purchase option charge as my contract states. Upon wanting to trade my car in the facility, I called VW to verify the written payoff amount and to my great surprise, the payoff was $1,300 higher, therefore, reducing MY trade-in value by $1,300! I contracted for 45,000 miles but drove the car only 28,000 miles. Reminder... I paid for those miles with a lower residual and higher payments! My daughter bought a similar Jetta about the same time and sold it to the same dealership I was attempting to. VW credit honored her written payoff that was her residual value plus remaining payments not yet due, less unearned finance charges plus purchase option. No GREEDY increase! I am only asking VW credit to allow me to trade my lease in for what I have paid it down to. I feel I earned at least that by being an outstanding customer and making every payment perfectly on time. But VW HAS DISCRIMINATED AGAINST ME and not treated me fair like they did in my daughters case. Did VW treat her fair because she is an attorney? I plan on never doing business with VW in the future! Plus, Im sure if theyre doing this to me, theyve done it to others. So I am seriously considering starting a class action suit!

Volkswagen Atlas w/ Lane Assist & Adaptive Cruise Control - Cell phone
Volkswagen Atlas w/ Lane Assist & Adaptive Cruise Control - Cell phone jammed the locks from opening. Cell phone jammed the keyless start on many occasions. SUV can be driven remotely and was when a hacker (twice) took over steering and the gas pedal via the Adaptive Cruise Control. The vehicle sped hard up to 85mph. Eventually VW bought back the vehicle in its entirety but all the vehicles with this type of semi-autonomous or autonomous technology should be recalled and pulled from the roads. It’s too easy to hack them. Vehicles can get viruses via the cell phone and through the Bluetooth. An architect / engineer at GM shared this conversation with me whilst trying to help me diagnose my problem with my vehicle/s.After the VW hacks the vehicle was never the same and couldn’t stay in the middle of the road. It would ride the center line or pull approx 18” over center before the sensors realized a problem. You’re supposed to be able to take your hands off the steering wheel for up to 8-9 seconds. There is no way to do this because you’d be in a ditch or under a semi truck. It’s a product defect and foundations of the technology is not stable.Sadly, I’ve reached out to the attorneys to help but most say they need about 50 deaths first. I say how much is your life worth to you? I have videos and photos to support the other people who are interested in their own business opportunities for a meeting with the customer and likewise for the insurance liability company. It’s the insurance liability companies that fall on the sword and they are responsible for the damages. Now that they understand how the game works for me and my family and friends and family I hope the insurance companies have more sense to get this mess cleaned up here and with the other automotive companies looking forward to deploying more autonomous vehicles on the road. When was it ever a good idea to put P.C. technology under the hood of a car? The spying and espionage the result of certain always on connected devices to a vehicles connected and networked system is connected to the internet and to the point it is broke globally due to technology corruption issues related to issues with the other people who are responsible for the other things they are doing with the other people. It’s not cool and a global technology problem for the future of the automotive industry will help fix it all over again and the repair man denied that he saw any issues. Total waste of time and money. Completely unnecessary to work with me for the next meeting with the customer but a forced payment for the work to share with my insurance company helped insurance companies and the can increase the charges for insurance liability for the high-risk deathbed. Whistleblower for me and for whichever attorney I will need help with the insurance liability company and the money back to me for the problems that I experienced as a result of those issues related to the problems that they were not able to help fix. Thank you very much for your help and change the insurance liability company to be more of a voice or and stop the production of these the liabilities. These vehicles need to die on the line. If you’re interested in that it may actually help you to save money and you can help fix the problems with that and your companies will be responsible for the insurance liability and only to get the money back to the customer with damages due to the problems with the known product defects. Hopefully I get a chance to see you soon and I work with you on these issues. I’ve got more of a handle of these problems and more than anybody else in this area.

I am extremely disappointed in my recent experience with Volkswagon Roadsid
I am extremely disappointed in my recent experience with Volkswagon Roadside Assistance. On Friday, April 15, 2016 we accidentally put 1.5 gallons of gas in our nearly empty 2012 Jetta TDI. I called Roadside Assistance for support and they advised me to have the car delivered to the dealership. A master mechanic suggested that we could fill the tank the rest of the way with diesel and have no problem. Trying to make a decision, I asked the Roadside representative what they would do at the dealership. He explained that they would lift it up, drain the tank and flush out the fuel lines, and said that Roadside would pay for the service. I said Roadside will cover it? and he confirmed. Based on the fact that Roadside said they would cover the cost of the service, I chose to go ahead with the tow rather than dealing with the situation on my own.On Saturday, April 16 I called Harmony Motors, our local dealership in Asheville, NC to check the status of my car. I was directed to the voicemail of someone who would be out of town for a week. His message warned that no voicemails would be received until his return. I called Harmony Motors again on Monday, April 18. They were surprised to hear from me and said they had no record of my car being there and could not recall seeing it come in. The mechanic said he would search the lot and get back to me. After two hours of panicking that my car was stolen and several calls to the dealership, Roadside and tow service, I finally heard back that they had found my car. Roadside Assistance gave the dealership NO information about my vehicle. The tow service they hired left my keys in the car without notifying anyone in the service department. My car sat in the lot for three nights and two whole days before anyone knew it was there. Now its Tuesday, April 19. The mechanic finally called me back to tell me what service needs to be done, and that it will cost over $500. I told him Roadside said they would pay for it. He followed up with Roadside, then called me back to inform me that Roadside is not going to pay. So, obviously I followed up with Roadside. I explained the situation to the representative and she said the manager would listen to the recording of the call and get back to me. I was hopeful because the representative was very clear. The manager was Felicia ** from the St. Petersburg, FL office. She said she listened to the call and that Roadside Assistance does not cover repairs and that I misunderstood the representative. I urged her to have someone listen to the conversation for another opinion. I explained that I am confident it was not a misunderstanding, and that perhaps the representative was misinformed about the companys policy. Even so, they should adhere to any promises made by their company reps. She said that it states clearly in the manual that Roadside does not cover the cost of repairs and that this written policy overrides anything that is said in person. She would not let me speak to her supervisor and would not give me her full name (I retrieved that later from VW Customer Care). She was rude, impolite, insensitive, and crass.I then followed up with VW Customer Care. I waited on the line for 40 minutes before my call was answered. I filed a complaint about my experience and the representative I spoke with here was very nice and understanding. I received a follow-up phone call from the VW Roadside Customer Care manager who further confirmed that Roadside will not pay for the service even if the representative claimed that they would. The written policy overrides anything else. I explained that this is an unethical way to operate a business and its not how I operate my own. If a representative makes a claim to a customer, the company should honor that promise and then take it up with the representative.I have gone four days without my car, hours of stress and time away from work, and am now facing a $500 bill that I could have avoided if I had the correct information from VW. It is clear that this company is well rooted in dishonesty, misinformation, extremely poor customer relations and no understanding of ethics. I hope this story shares more on the truth of how VW operates and that their words cannot be trusted. So what have we learned from this? If you want an accurate representation of Volkswagens services, I guess you need to consult written documents. Unless you happen to be inquiring about clean diesel. Then, unfortunately, youre ** out of luck.

I purchased my 2014 Volkswagen CC in September of 2014. I was so excited to join the VW family. I leased this vehicle to get my feet wet and determine if I would be a lifelong VW customer. Well, in 2016 while driving down one of Houstons busiest freeways my car stalled and I was just barely able to pull to the side of the road. I had to have my vehicle towed to the dealership where they kept it for 4 days. They replaced multiple parts, it seemed fine. The very next morning I got up and the car wouldnt start. I had to have it sent back to VW in which they discovered an issue with the fuel pump module. After replacing this part, I drove it back home and the next day it wouldnt start again, maybe the third time is a charm. I had it towed back to VW and they replaced the battery. Less than a year later with my son in the car, the vehicle died again. Luckily I wasnt struck by another vehicle. I had it towed to the nearest VW service center in which they told me it was the fuel module again, but it was out of warranty and I would have to go through VW cares to see about getting it replaced or I would be responsible for an 1,800 repair bill. Well, after going back and forth with them they agreed to replace the part. Can you imagine how unsettling and scary it is to drive a vehicle that has such a huge safety issue and recall with no permanent fix. Well, this weekend I was driving down the freeway and the vehicle stopped again, I was blessed enough to pull to safety. My 10 year old son was in the back seat praying we wouldnt get hit. I had the vehicle towed to VW Saturday night at 8pm, so I was without a vehicle for the entire Easter weekend and couldnt get my son to his obligations. Monday morning I received a call from service advises, my brake fluid was green, the control arm bushings were cracked/dry rot and I needed an alignment totaling 1,000+ in expenses. The service rep stated this was just the beginning, but there was also several transmission codes and the diagnostic would be 135 to see exactly whats wrong with the vehicle. I told her to go ahead that was at 9am, its now 6:30 pm and I have yet to hear anything. I called around 3:00 pm to be told the clutch was out and they were trying to get me a quote for a transmission and to expect my service rep to call before end of day. Well, I am truly disappointed in the service, maintenance and overall Volkswagen CC. I will list all parts Ive had replaced on the vehicle and estimated repair costs since Ive had the vehicle. Ribbed belt. Tensioner. Valve. Separator. Mounting. Bearing. Turbo valve and crankcase breather leaking oil. Washer. Fuel unit. Control un. Battery. Battery disposal fee. I have not added the additional services that Ive had in the past 6 months.

I had my VW Jetta for three years, the problem began when I wanted to purchase the vehicle I leased. It took 3 months of calling to get the payoff in writing. I would call VW Credit and sit on hold for at least 30 minutes, before someone would answer. If I could stay on hold that long, I work full-time, and my Mother had heart surgery, so time was not something I had a lot of. If and or when someone would answer, one of two things would happen. They would disconnect me or tell me they could not help me. Call the dealership. I call the dealership and they tell me to call VW Credit. Finally, I got the payoff, then the check engine light comes on. Guess what happened when I took it to the dealership, the same all over again. Ive been there three times with nothing in writing as to whats wrong with it. Plus an open recall that was not even addressed. I am saddened by the complete disconnect from VW. I have an appointment at a local Ford dealership, that has a former VW technician on staff to diagnose the problem. I really thought VW was a quality product, I never had this problem with a Ford.

I purchased a 2014 VW Jetta last year from the dealer. My first time in for service was recently. I was not impressed. I had some minor complaints about parts not working up to standard. Without getting long winded, the gist of the story is, everything seemed to be an issue and not under warranty for whatever reason, blah blah blah. I had owned a Mazda for years prior, and never had ANY issues with warranty work being done. Even the smallest complaint and they fixed it right up, no questions asked. I dont care how good they think their vehicles are. This resistance at the service counter will not deter me from a future purchase of a Volkswagen product.

Im having my insurance investigate the fire on my 2004 GLS Convertible VW. All at once, misfired engine light blinked, black smoke seeped in the car between seats and sudden blast loud muffler sound backfiring more smoke in between seats and orange glow by rear outlet plug. I had to put it out myself as no one was around to help. Cell wouldnt respond. I got help eventually. The car has been fine and in good working order. I have no idea that the headlamp right side bulb was also blinking like strobe light on or off prior to fire. Im baffled. Im lucky it was snowing. I used it to cool down the crackling in the car as I aired it out. What a way to end 2012. Its under investigation. I called fire station and police the next day. I better get a refund of some sort if totaled as I paid so much for it. It had 80,000 miles. I called to report to State MSV Safety and also VW of America. Happy New Year, yeah right.

VW are liars. They shortchanged me on the diesel buyback. They are giving me 1/2 of the original offer even though I have put zero miles on the car since the original letter. They have customers at their mercy because no one can afford to risk they damage the car before the buyback. I thought I was smart and bought a new car and stored my car at the VW Dealer. I called to complain and got the runaround and transferred from one person to another until I was so annoyed I gave up. They have lost me as a customer.

So far I am happy with my VW GTI lease. The lease ends in 60 days. If it werent for the underhanded tactic of removing the payoff quote just three months before the lease is due, then I would seriously consider buying this vehicle. This tactic shows me they cannot be trusted. I am now forced to call and listen to a salesperson use even more underhanded tactics to try and sell me the car for more than its worth. BTW, I had leased a Honda prior to this and they used no such tactics. I should have stayed with them. I just hope now I dont run into any issues with returning my vehicle.

I hit a small deer one month ago (drivers side light, hood, quarter panel). The insurance paid for the body work, but not for a spastic, drivers side door. The car (VW 2002 Golf TDI) thinks the door is open all the time and alerts me. When I turn on the lights at night, the alert screams at me. The dealership, which Allstate Insurance made me tow the car to, says this happens to the door all the time even if you hit a pothole and jar the car. The dealership is a 3-hr round trip from where I live and there is a certified VW mechanic in the next town from me, but Allstate wouldnt let me take it there. I told the adjuster and dealership that nothing was wrong before the accident, but they say it is something that happens on VWs a lot. Why isnt there a recall on this if it is so prevalent. And if hitting a pothole could cause this problem, why wouldnt an accident do so also? I will never buy another VW. I have put a lot of money into this car (VW maintenance costs a lot!). Its a 2002 model, but I had a Honda that I drove for 20 years before any major money had to put into it. This has been a nightmare not having a car for a month and living in a rural area.

After four years of dealing with Volkswagen customer service I have made my mind up to never buy another! I like my 2010 Jetta TDI Sportswagen - its a nice car to drive and get decent fuel mileage. I have dealt with two different dealerships on various issues, and feel their service representatives are very poorly trained. Can you imagine one of them telling me that my spark plugs needed replacement - on a diesel, there are no spark plugs! Or a labor charge of $90.00 to replace the rear window wiper. The wiper itself cost $16.00 as a separate charge. This car has never been touched by anyone but VW dealers, and they stripped the oil pans drain plug out?? Then blamed it on me because I have the cars oil changed too frequently??The latest issue was an engine trouble light. They charged me $99.99 just to read the problem, then tell me the problem is your glow plug is bad. Diesel engine will not start without an active glow plug. I feel I am being ripped off. And when I total all the charges, I realize I would have been better off financially driving another vehicle with half the fuel economy. Today I got an answer back from corporate that they took my complaint and passed it on to the dealer -- whats wrong with this picture??? Before you invest in any Volkswagen product, consider their poor, and very expensive service work, and no help from the manufacturer. Customer Service Counts!!!

Kateryna of Northfield, IL on Nov. 19, 2014. In reference to a review about Tiguan VW. I had the exact same chain of events including the sudden stopping of the engine, false lights, the computer fixing by the dealership. But my Tiguan 09 @52,000k stopped completely (engine) in a very cold/snow winter morning with our then 6-month old baby in the car. The car had to be towed!! The car was still under warranty 52,000 & less than 5 yrs. yet the dealer and VW refused to fix the car. We made payment To VW the car isnt working for 18 months. So we lost around $30k and we have no car! We have a second car its a Jetta 2011. We are experiencing similar issues and we feel absolutely frustrated dealing with VW. We are wasting too much time, energy and most of all money on VW. The worst experience ever twice!!

I want to put it out there that Volkswagen is the WORST car ever made. I bought my 2010 Volkswagen CC in 2013. From the first year I bought it, I have had nothing but problems. In July of 2015, I was in the line at Taco Bell, and my car just died. It would die EVERY TIME I stopped the car (at a red light, parked, etc.). I had to have the Fuel Pump control module replaced. In December 2015, I had to have sensors replaced. In June 2016, I have had my engine replaced when I took it in for the Steering Column Defective message. In July 2016, my Steering Column Defective message popped up yet again, so I took it in again. They replaced the Steering Control Module. A week later, the Steering Column Lock Defective message popped up again. I took the car back in and they replaced the Immobilizer. Its been about a week since I picked it up and today, the check engine light is on YET AGAIN. Let me just say, I dont miss oil changes, I do not rag my car out. I am a responsible adult who drives 16 minutes to work everyday and 16 minutes home. I do not take it across the country. I take care of my car, but this has been nothing but problems. Problems that are not maintenance. There have been recalls on the engine and the parts for the steering column lock defective issues. My VIN wasnt on that list, but yet Ive had the problems. My warranty company has put $10,000 into this car in the last 2 months. I have spent $800+ in repairs out of my pocket. My car isnt even at 100,000 miles yet. This company has done NOTHING to help me with these issues. I have contacted corporate on MULTIPLE occasions about this and they wont do a thing. This car also has the airbag recall. I tried to trade it in (AT VOLKSWAGEN) and they said because it has the recall, they cant give me but $6,000 for it. $6,000 for my car that I paid $16,000 for and that has MULTIPLE BRAND NEW MAJOR ITEMS!!! So not only is this car unsafe because of how it was put together and the parts that keep going bad, if I get in a wreck, my airbag may have metal come through and stab me in the face and kill me! But they dont seem to care about that. Trust me, buy a Toyota or an American car. My fiance has a 2010 Toyota FJ Cruiser and has had to replace the battery once. Thats it. He bought it a year and a half before I bought mine. Volkswagen, Im meeting with my attorney next week to get this fixed. It isnt right and the fact my car is constantly unsafe and you do not care, proves that you have no conscience as a company!

I dont like Aquarius looking cars and this car is rounded on all its exterior chassis. I also liked the features for what I was purchasing. It felt like a quality care with quality accouterments at an affordable price. A good value for the money, indeed. However, I would like to see the Volkswagen in general including mine get better gas mileage. It is a 4.0 engine and should be getting a lot better mileage than its currently being. Im very frustrated at the fact that Im driving a car that has a potential safety issue and I usually have my 5 yr and 13 month old children with me. I bought the VW Tiguan because it was rated #1 for safety when my older child was 1 yr old. My car has had many problems and have spent 1000s of dollars in repair. But what has got me furious is the fact that on the morning of Friday July 25 2014. As I was leaving my parents house from dropping my kids and getting ready to go to work I started my car but the Power steering was gone completely. The Tiguan started and I could drive forward and back but the steering wheel did not move at all as if it was locked but it was not and the power steering failure light came on in the dashboard. The Tiguan is almost 4 yrs old and about 73 thousand miles on it. But I do not think age is the issue with this problem, its just a design flaw from VW.This problem has me very concern because what if I was driving on the freeway and the power steering failed then? I could only imagine what could have happen. What if my children were with me? This problem is unacceptable, inexcusable and life threatening. This is a very serious safety issue with the Tiguan. My Tiguan was towed to a VW dealerships car shop and they told me there that they never heard of such problem with the Tiguan models. I search on the web and it turns out there are several hundreds 2009-2011 VW Tiguans owners that have had that same problem, and to fix the Tiguan would be $2,045 dollars. The service rep suggested I call VW customer service. I did call and they were very nice and told me that they were going to see if they could help me with the repair. Next day I get a call from them and told me that they were not going to do anything about it because my Tiguan had more than 70,000 miles and was way out of warranty. This power steering problem has nothing to do with the Tiguans age. Other people that have had this exact same experience and only had their Tiguan for 2 months with 1,800 miles on and the problem keeps reoccurring! Warranty or no warranty this is a design flaw and should be covered by VW. Also in my opinion this is an issue worth a major recall but so far VW seems to be waiting for the first deaths to occur before they will react. There is always possibility that in traffic, the power steering really could go any moment.Something should be done about it before an innocent family dies!!! Help!!!! In the meantime I will tell my story in the social media to people in the news if I can, in the radio if I can, report it to BBB, and make consumer reports anywhere I can!! etc. I am now very scared to be driving the Tiguan. Its not safe and I dont feel safe! Other people with the same problem have had the problem reoccurring after being fixed. VW has lost a loyal customer forever!!

I have owned over my lifetime no fewer than five Volkswagen/Audi automobiles: my first, a 1960 VW Beetle; a 1999 Cabrio; a 2003 Jetta; a 2003 Audi A3; and most recently, my last, a 2008 convertible bug I bought in the aftermarket as a first vehicle for my youngest child. Routinely, but most unfortunately, a headlight went out on the car. My daughter dutifully and naively went to an automotive parts store and purchased a replacement bulb, at my instruction. With replacement bulb in hand, my husband examined the cars headlight assembly and swiftly threw his hands up in the air, as did two local service mechanics. Thus, I was forced to send her to our local dealership in West Nyack, NY - Palisades Volkswagen, where I was charged for Volkswagens inane engineering the staggering sum of... wait for it... drum roll please... ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY FOUR DOLLARS AND SIXTY EIGHT CENTS ($164.68)!!! You heard right. How on earth can Volkswagen expect its loyal consumer to happily absorb the cost of what is obviously a serious design flaw and expect that customer to ever purchase one of their poorly designed cars ever again? Frankly, Im insulted and angry. The loyal VW consumer should not be penalized for the companys flawed design. Shame on you.

I bought a 2008 Volkswagen GTI less than 30 days ago. I noticed on the 2nd day the A/C and the 3rd gear was grinding. I notified the dealership. They said to bring the car in. On the 11th day of owning the vehicle, the car broke down. I notified the dealership that the car was not able to move and that it will need to be towed. They told me they would not pay for the tow and that if it had anything to do for the clutch, they wouldnt pay for that also. So I called my Roadside Assistance and towed the car to the nearest repair shop. They said there that the problem is in the transmission. The dealership still refuses to pay for the tow to their shop. I was also told by the service clerk that she spoke to the owner and he said that they would tow if it had to do with transmission or engine. But they have not done so. I have called and talked to the bank, and they have contacted the dealer. But still, nothing has happened. I call everyday, trying to talk to the owner or manager. And no phone calls have been returned. Theyre not honoring the warranty.

In March 2016 I experienced my first issue with not being able to open my trunk, took it into a VW Dealership for service and found the root cause to be the trunk wire harness, lucky I had an extended warranty, my out of pocket expense was $300. Now, its January 2018 the same problem just happened again right after I spent $1300 for maintenance. My comment and concern is that I would not expect to have an ongoing issue with my trunk and backup lights not working because a trunk wire harness keeps breaking. In particularly because I dont use my trunk on a daily basis. Wondering if this is a design flaw? I love my 2011 VW CC, it performs well and so far hasnt given me any major problems (have had it for 3 years). Of course, I have to make an appointment and get it fixed. I wish there was something that could be done with the trunk harness to prevent it from breaking. If anyone has any ideas, I would appreciate it if you would share it.

I introduce myself to you as a long-time and loyal VW customer. I have owned seven VWs in my life. Currently, I own a 2017 Touareg and a 2016 Jetta (son). Obviously, I enjoy the VW brand. It goes without saying that the events surrounding the TDI matter have been disappointing to me as such a loyal customer. Having said that, I accepted your apologies on behalf of VW and the terms of the TDI settlement as they related to my 2014 Passat TDI. Not only did I agree to the settlement terms as outlined by the US Courts, I went on to purchase the 2017 Touareg after turning in my Passat in late November. To be brief, the settlement process has been an unmitigated disaster by all accounts. I entered into a signed agreement with Volkswagen on or around December 22, 2016. I was told my funds and the funds promised via the settlement agreement owed to Fidelity Bank would be distributed within three business days. Indeed, I received my portion of the settlement funds timely. Unfortunately, as of todays date, some 60 plus days later, the bank has yet to receive their funds. Although, the representatives from Fidelity Bank have done what they can to assist me, in order to keep from being sent to collections and adversely impacting my 820 credit rating, I have been forced to make multiple additional car payments on a vehicle that I have not possessed since November 2016. Not to make light of the tangible financial losses in terms of interest and principle, I have spent conservatively 40 hours in phone calls and e-mails back and forth with the claims center, the bank and now the plaintiffs general counsel. Despite my efforts, NOT one single person has taken the leadership to step-in to rectify this matter.Let me say this, the service rendered by the VW claims department is deplorable! I have been a risk manager and claims/litigation manager in the insurance industry for the past 27 years. I have worked for and with some of the best. Simply said, the claims department handling the TDI settlements is THE WORST. They have been unprofessional, dishonest and in my opinion, they have continued to commit fraud on behalf of VW. The plaintiffs general counsel is doing what they can to assist me. However, to date, they have not been able to rectify this matter. Without continuing on, which believe me I could, I will leave you with this. I fully expect this matter to be resolved at the end of business today. That includes the payoff to my bank as promised to me when I signed the settlement documents in December 2016. In addition, I expect compensation for the accrued interest, principle payments and my extensive time that I have had to dedicate to this matter to protect my personal and financial interest.I have engaged individual counsel to pursue additional counts of fraud and material misrepresentation against VW. Additionally, I have reached out to local law enforcement to file criminal theft charges against VW and their corporate representatives for the unlawful taking of my 2014 VW Passat TDI. I will post this letter on every social media site possible by the end of the business day today should I not receive an immediate and satisfactory response. The actions by VW as outlined above constitute continued criminal and fraudulent behavior!

We have an EOS 2.0L VW that has under $60,000 miles on it. The car suddenly stopped running at a traffic light in Dec 2014 and has been in and out of the dealer for repairs every two months. We have spent almost $2000 on a massive failure of both fuel pumps (how do they both break?). We have replaced multiple fuel injectors. This car is barely broken in. It is a $35K car and the entire fuel injection system has failed. There were some warranties that reduced the price of repairs, but less than 60,000 miles, are you kidding? VW PR gave us a two week song and dance (** so sweet and has your back) and ** the decision maker who wont even provide his full name for some accountability. They stroked us really well telling us that they were covering every base and they understood how unjustified these types of repairs are at this early age of a car. Two weeks later... after we supposedly cooled down from spending a couple of grand on the inside of the engine repair they told us they would not take the car back. They would not offer any financial assistance. We were left with nothing. At least I can warn others. Do not believe that VW can produce a fuel injection car. Their design is faulty and their parts break easily and one problem creates others. The EOS looks great, but that is only skin deep.

The car looks great on the outside, the inside as well. Very comfortable car and spacious. The drive is smooth and affordable in gas. Its not a big SUV and not too small. Enough room to fit 5 people and a large trunk. Very happy with the design of the vehicle. As for the engine, I did have a few issues. Instead of a timing belt its a chain which needs to be changed and very costly. The pieces are ok in price but had to add some extra money on top of my payments. That was the downfall of this purchase.

I have a Volkswagon Passat for official/domestic use since 2016. No doubt it drives great with all the inbuilt features of safety as well as ergonomics. It has got a powerful engine with smooth drive. To sum up I must say that the company has put in all its efforts to make it a success but unfortunately the only thing which is pulling it down is the customer support at its service center. It has such an overwhelming effect that all the good features of this car get multiplied by zero rather I would say it takes it in the negative side of the scale. I had been getting its maintenance services from the VW for the last so many years until this month when I finally decided to quit and I will even restrain myself to small pit shop.I happened to be at VW service center at Templehoff for scheduled inspection of my car in August 2020 but was highly disappointed with the attitude of service center staff who not only charged me heavily but also failed to standby their commitment of completing the job on time again and again. These people dont have any sense of customer care and dont bother even if some customer getting bogged down because of their failings. To my utter surprise no appropriate action was taken despite this matter was brought in the notice of management which brings me to the conclusion that this entire company is unknown to the word Customer Care rather they Dont Care. Anyways I formally said goodbye to this place and will never recommend any friend for even visiting this place for petty tasks.

On March 18th 2014 I brought my Jetta into the dealership for its spa treatment (part of the sales agreement on March 30, 2014). Upon completion of detailing, 2 chunks of paint had fallen off the running boards. During the walk-around with the Service Associate I told her that I often had people approach me to say that my car had been hit as the running boards had indentations on the rear and forward portions. The indentations matched on both sides of the car in which I believed was the body style. The Service Associate said she had never noticed the body style of the 2014 running boards and thought it was unique but didnt have any concerns as they were matching on both sides and agreed that it was a body style. When I returned to pick up my Jetta, the Service Associate said she had really bad news. She said she had spoken to their Sales Associate and this definitely was not a body style and in fact there was significant damage to my vehicle. A VW salesman quickly joined the conversation and claimed the indentations were caused from a hoist. I told them the only hoist my car was on was their hoist in August 2, 2014 when it was in for the first free 15,000 km oil change. I was presented an invoice for over $250.00 at the time. They had rotated my tires, and performed the 6-month service check on their own accord. I refused to pay the invoice as I specifically asked only for the oil change - nothing more. The salesman said you cant prove we did the damage; its way too late for that! He began aggressively arguing while the Service Associate said this is not the policy of Volkswagen and they would go good for any damage caused as their service department. She checked the service records and confirmed my vehicle had been in their service shop and asked me to get 2 quotes and they would do the same. She confirmed the auto body shop that I would go to was a customer of theirs and agreed they would be good to go to. She said they would call me the following day as they would want to have this addressed ASAP. They never called me back. In fact I called them the following day and found she was dismissive and didnt engage in a conversation of how they would approach this matter. Both body shops gave a quote of over $4,000 had said the damage was very serious and confirmed that it was sustained by a hoist. They both suggested I go to ICBC as soon as possible. ICBC confirmed hoist damage and proceeded to process my claim as they would go after the dealership. I asked ICBC about the trade-in value of my car since I now own a vehicle purchased at top dollar; with depreciation and $4,000+ damages, the trade-in value of my car is seriously compromised. ICBC only said I would have my deductible returned after they go after the dealership.

My VW Jetta has some trouble starting today. So I took it to VW of Coconut Creek, FL to have it checked out. They said they would charge me $138.50 for diagnosis and if I get the device done after that, they would apply this charge against the service. They found the problem with my battery and replaced it, however they didn’t deduct the diagnosis charge from final invoice. They charged me ~$300 ($147 for new battery, $138.50 for diagnosis and test shop supplies, misc and tax). When I asked, they said the$138.50 was for installing the battery and setting it up. That is just bizarre. They just made up something to charge me more. I am reporting this so people are aware of this practice and avoid using this dealer as much as possible.

I planned to buy another VW when my current Jetta needed replaced. However.... two weeks ago I noticed the headliner on the roof of my car was pulling away from the center light and in the back. This was a part of the car that should not fail. I only have 63,000 miles on the car. I have kept it parked in garages both at home and work. The climate is only humid in Georgia in the summer, this isnt Florida or Hawaii. There is no reason this piece should fail. I contacted VW and they outright REFUSED to give me anything towards this repair. They claim my car is too old. SEVEN years is TOO OLD?!? So they expect their customers to replace their cars every 5 years or something? Thats absurd. Ive taken good care of my car this entire time. At the end of the Hybrid Supplement, it notes that if the gas tank does not accept fuel please advise to bring it to an authorized dealership. I brought in the car the first time: Never resolved the issue. Second time the issue was never resolved again. During the second time they recommend that I have to fix the fuel door actuator and that would cause a check engine light. I replaced the fuel door actuator and that never resolved any issue. During this transition the car had a vac pump issue and the e-motor system fails. I complain that my car still doesnt accept gas and other issues had arisen, and reading their warranties it says non-warrantied parts that are damaged due to the warrantied parts will be replaced free of charge. I brought in the car for the third time. They denied any warranties that will cover the fuel door as well as the vacuum pump.I argued for quite sometime because one of the service member called me saying it would be the engine control module. They went back and forth to figure out what was the issue and most likely didnt want to express the real issue on this car because the ECM is in fact on the parts list. They fixed the fuel door actuator and it was a circuit issue. There is a very extensive list for PZEV warrantied parts which also includes a vacuum amplifier 2567. I called numerous dealerships and all the service technicians do not know anything about a vacuum amplifier, VW Care says that the dealerships are their best technical advisers and we do not know what a vacuum amplifier is. I would expect that a vacuum amplifier is a vacuum pump synonymously. 2567 service code is for the engine, the vacuum pump questioned is mounted behind the engine from what a service technician told me.Also in their warranty booklet it notes that if the dealership denies a claim, that it would send a written explanation why they would deny the claims within 30 days. If they fail to send a written response then, by law they would warrant those claims. So the supervisor Mary ** denies the claim over the phone after Volkswagen DTLA wont let me keep the car there until the claim is resolved. She never written a response letter or any explanation what a vacuum amplifier 2567 is as well as reason why the vacuum pump doesnt have anything to do with the emissions. I asked numerous technicians if the vacuum pump is related to emissions and was told numerous times that in fact it is. I wanted to escalate my claim and asked again to please re-look into my case.Bill, a regional VW Customer care agent tells me lets bring it to another dealership and look at the issues and lets get everything resolved so we can get a fresh non-biased report. I do bring it into another dealership and that dealership mistakenly calls me and asked to speak with DTLA Volkswagen. The new dealership says its just a gas cap. Also the fuel door actuator fails again.VW Care deny claims once again and of course VW Care rudely uses scare tactics and employees like Bill ** and Preston are very good at intimidating me rather than listen to the case carefully as they insist that they will now write a written response for the denial of my claim more than 60 days past the original claim for the vacuum pump and fuel door actuator. I am very curious what else will lead to these numerous PZEV issues. I would highly stay away from Volkswagen, if they lied and cheated under their diesel engines; most likely there are issues with their emissions as well.

Contacted VW customer service and they not only stated that “oil consumption” is normal but it’s acceptable to “consume”a quart per 2k miles… I traded the tiguan for a Toyota before it devalues further. After 4 VWs and 3 Audis it was time for change due to VW and the dealer not giving a flying **.

One year ago I decided to buy a used VW. People often said, Very expensive to repair, but I heard they drive well, so took a shot. Not only are they expensive to repair but when dealing with VW customer service over what should have been a simple warranty issue, I can wholeheartedly say that I would NEVER in my right mind recommend this car manufacturer to any of my friends or family. It took VW nearly two months (and several callbacks) to come to the conclusion that they werent covering this issue, too. Ridiculous. Anyway, theres my public rant. Buy a used VW at your own risk and dont trust them to back their own warranties.

For the first 3 years under warranty, my car had no problem at all. I bought my car in 2012 and its been 5 years now with 40,000 miles. The car is still smooth and its perfect. Nothing is leaking underneath the car. When I went today for my 40,000 service maintenance, they said theres a problem with my motor. Like the oil is leaking. I laughed inside and told myself, What the **? Hahaha.I remembered my friend who was a sale person in Volkswagen told me that, After your warranty dont go to Volkswagen. Theyre going to rip you off. I should of listened. But I told myself, Lets see. I asked the guy, Why is it leaking? The car is new... Its only 5 years. So is this mean Volkswagen is not GOOD at all? I mean, our Mazda, Honda are more than 10 years, and nothing ever leaked. The only repaired we had was the tires changed. I just think this is BS. The guy told me, not to wait longer because it will cost me more. The motor for motion is leaking and it will cost me $600. WTF?

On this site, I found another 2014 Jetta consumer had same issue w/ less mileage. DPATRICK VW ** is unsure if VW will cover repairs ($1700) nor cover a rental. It is a NEW 2014 JETTA. Having a look at the reviews, I feel a little bit better as the company is just terrible in general, I thought it was just my luck and I was dealing with wrong service managers but seems like everyone is having the SAME! issue. What a mistake I made trusting Volkswagen, my car has been with them over a week coming to two weeks to diagnose an issue which they did after a week. Repairs were then done, I was then advised it could actually be something else and now another cost is adding, then they said I might even need a new Engine, my oh my.My other frustration is that the service manager who I called after being told they will call when they didnt had no clue of the situation and advised she was handed the case a day ago when the complaint was sent few days ago via web chat. I REGRET using them. I could of taken my car to a local garage who will be cheaper and diagnose the actual issue without trying to rob your money, I WILL NEVER EVER USE YOU AGAIN NOR RECOMMEND YOU TO ANYONE! WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE FACED!

I am responding to a post from Dec 2014 about failure to start in the TDI Golf. This has been one of several problems I too have had with this vehicle. My problem started last year with similar instances of the vehicle not starting, having it towed and then having it start at the dealership with no detectable problems. A former VW technician mentioned to me that this has been a known problem with this model and that it was likely the intercooler causing the issue. The next time it happened, they checked the hoses to the intercooler and they were full of water and ice. I had to fight with VW service headquarters (and they denied there is a known problem with the intercoolers), but eventually (after several phone calls) they agreed to fix the problem at no cost to me. The car worked great for the rest of that winter season, but unfortunately the same problem is occurring again this winter. I have to say I am very disappointed with VW because I like the cars design. However, I cannot say that I would ever purchase another VW due to this reliability problem.

If a car is out of warranty by less than 30 days, is there a channel to go
If a car is out of warranty by less than 30 days, is there a channel to go through that promotes good will between the customer and VW? If a goodwill gesture is not possible, I have a question regarding the number of defects required for a recall? When a part failure occurs out of warranty, what recourse does your customer have? How does one go through the appropriate channels to ensure the customers complaint is followed up on? What documentation does the company have on the failure rate of the part in question? The reason I ask is, the driver side headlamp assembly (Produced by Hella) in my 2008 VW City Jetta stopped working. The part number for the head lamp assembly is 1JM-941-015-D. My best estimation is that there were approximately 4,400 - 4600 2008 VW City Jetta manufactured for the Canadian market. Note Sales volumes of City Jetta for the period 2007 - 2009 2007 City Jetta Sales Volume = 4449 2008 City Jetta Sales Volume = 4640 2009 all City models Sales Volume = 8421**Assumed 50/50 Split between City Jetta and City Golf in 2009Note that the 2008 City Jetta was only sold in Canada. Therefore the units that have required similar repairs to this point may not indicate that there is an issues and could theoretically could be viewed as statistically insignificant. A few things to consider, this is the only car that the headlamp assembly was manufactured for. It is not a common part that can be found on either the 2007 or the 2009 VW City Jetta, nor on the regular Jetta that was sold anywhere else around the world. Thus limiting the amount of data on the headlight assembly itself. The car in question has approximately 80,000 Kms on it. This indicates there was not an above average amount of use. Additionally, it has not been in a car accident and all parts are original equipment, including the bulb which was installed by VW of Windsor. The connecting wires between the head lamp and the socket melted, as stated by the VW of Windsor technician. I do not believe that this should occur under normal wear and tear on a car. The two VWs that I owned previously did not have this issue, nor was it encountered on any other vehicle that I have owned.Lastly, this part is not readily available to the public, because it was not used in any other vehicle. This makes the repair approximately $900. I have tried to find the part through other means and other repair facilities and was unsuccessful, because the part is so rare. If someone could please give me a call back to discuss my concerns it would be greatly appreciated.

I come from a family of people that buy and purchase VWs. So naturally I bought one. However, I have had issues with my 2009 VW GTI (purchased brand new) since the start. When I first purchased my VW, there was a fuel issue, and they replaced it. Then there was a filter that stunk like mold, they replaced it. Then there was a recall on part of my transmission, they replaced it. My car started hesitating on the freeway when I accelerated, right after the recall replacement. I should have known by this time that the car needed to be traded, but I was stupid. I thought its a VW, they are great cars and so much fun to drive! Everything at this point got even worse. My battery died, or so I thought. I took it to VW and they told me that I needed a new computer. Somehow, insurance covered this and I ONLY had to pay my $500 deductible. I informed them that my car kept hesitating on the freeway. They said to drive it a certain amount of miles and it should reset. I did, and it didnt reset. After a few weeks, I took it back to the dealership. They said I need a new valve that was several hundred dollars. I called VW of America and they offered to pay for half, since it was a defect. Several weeks went by and the car started doing the same thing again. I took it back to the dealership they said its a valve that needs to be replaced. They covered the cost of the valve because it was part of the original issue. I picked it up. The next day, the engine light went off again, and the car was still hesitating. After several days, I called the dealership. They told me it was bad gas and to refuel it and drive around. I did this. After several days, I again took the car back to the dealership. This time, they said it was another valve, and they replaced it. They also told me that if the engine code came on again that they would have to replace the turbo. So now they are telling me that I need a new turbo and have to pay $2200.00. Everything else they were willing to cover because it was part of the covered recall issue, but now that its $2200.00 I have to pay for it. I called VW of America to see if they could help. The woman said that they arent going to pay for it and that its not their responsibility. I said, Thats funny because you knew it was your responsibility up until it was $2200.00. She told me that is her final decision, there was no one above her and thats it. I now have a car that needs new turbo... I am beyond upset and will never buy or drive a VW again! I am trying to sell my piece of crap because I cant even look at it with getting pissed off. The woman by the way did offer me a $750 credit towards a new VW. I have to admit I was speechless. She was willing to give me $750 towards a new car, but not towards my problem that I called about???? Thats ridiculous.

I have a 2013 VW Jetta TDI which I love. Recently, back in July, the fuel pump went. I had my car towed to VW Service in a town near me to get the problem diagnosed (even though I knew what it was) and to get warranty work performed. This process took 30 days! My car was in the service department for a MONTH! This is unacceptable. They first had to order a fuel kit, then extract fuel, send the fuel to a 3rd party, wait to get the fuel back. Decide if it was covered by VW under powertrain warranty, then order the parts for the fuel pump. First of all, this car has less than 40,000 miles. I was so irritated. I wrote to the dealer & corporate and they both said this is the process so thats that. Thats insane! I dont care about my loaner car, I spent more in gasoline in a month than I normally would. What a joke. Thinking about trading this car in before more things go wrong and they have to keep it for another month.

Dont buy a Volkswagen. I made the mistake. And Im here to prevent you from doing the same thing. Heres the deal. Volkswagen is a dishonest company. Dieselgate proved that. Some of the companys former executives are now in prison. Theyre literally convicted criminals. But the issue is beyond Dieselgate. Volkswagens tend to feature some really nice German engineering with some fatal flaws that make the cost of ownership rise astronomically. Volkswagen Group of America takes no responsibility for any of this and instead only responds when it faces a class action lawsuit. I purchased a Volkswagen CC in 2010. It was an amazing, graceful vehicle for the first four years. And then became -- and remains -- like a star athlete who got injured early in his career, turning into a shell of what he once was. My Volkswagen CC is the Penny Hardaway of cars.First there was the carbon buildup issue with the intake manifold. Long story short, the intake manifold has a design flaw. It results in the buildup of carbon deposits. This is a common issue with VW and Audi direct injection engines. VW will lie to you about why it happens, blaming the type of gas you use. Cleanup costs $500-$800 to clean. Two VW dealerships lied to me about aspects of the issue, telling me two different stories. VW Group of America refused to pay for the cleaning. Ultimately, I had to get it cleaned by a non-dealer specialist. And now my turbo is failing, putting the longevity of the engine at risk. VW Group of America refuses to cover the replacement of the turbo, though the dealer technician said hes seen a lot of turbos fail.Ive had a host of other problems with this car. Leaks, replacements of shocks and struts, multiple battery failures, and frequent flat tires. Theres a class action lawsuit alleging that the suspension of the car has a design flaw, causing premature tire wear. Thats happened with me. Ive had to buy a total of 12 additional new tires for this car. Ive had to replace the battery three times. Ive had to get the intake manifold cleaned. Now I have to get the turbo replaced.I have a spreadsheet detailing my maintenance and repair costs, toiling in roughly $10,000 over eight years. There are other repairs various dealers have recommended that I did not get done or chose cheaper alternatives. Altogether, they would have totaled more than $6000 more. Every dealer comes with their own set of $2000 recommended repairs.Anyway, theres a clear pattern: these problems Ive experienced are mainly based on VW design flaws. The fuel pump issue (for which theres a recall) causes the battery to drain. The suspension design flaw (for which theres a class action lawsuit) causes the tires to wear quickly. The direct injection engine causes carbon buildup on the intake manifold. And my guess is theres some fatal flaw with the turbos. VW is a company that only responds to these issues when facing legal action. Thats why their execs are in jail. Dont make the mistake I made. Dont buy a Volkswagen. They continue to deceive after Dieselgate and should be out of business. Unethical people.

Volkswagen shouldnt be sold in the US. The customer service is awful and the warranty means nothing. I traveled to Michigan for a quick vacation. The car broke down hours away from my destination. Get a towing truck through road assistance was almost impossible. My car was sent to a dealership 2 hours away from where I was staying. 12 hours later I received a call to let me know they got my car and they were going to inspect it in 1 week, I was staying there for only 2 days. After spending 7 hours on the phone, I decided to take a taxi to get a rental car (the closest rental was 1 hour and a half away). Volkswagen couldnt provide me a loaner/rental. I had to paid for everything. Everybody I talked to over the phone told me to contact the trip interruption department. After spending 200 dollars in a taxi, I get a call that the car was ready. According to them, the car was not fixed correctly at the dealership in Chicago (Volkswagen Irving Park Chicago). Took another taxi the other way, another $200. Once I got there, the Muskegon Volkswagen rep told me the following: We reconnected a hose that they forgot to connect when they replace the crankshaft sensor in Chicago... Please note the car has only 25K miles and broke a few weeks before this. They charged me because a different Volkswagen made a mistake but trip interruption was going to take care of this. Long story short, I made it back to Chicago, mailed all the receipts as they told me to do and today I got a call to let me know the case was declined. This is not money related, I dont care about the money but I can tell that Volkswagen customer service is awful... In Muskegon, in Chicago... Everywhere... even the customer CARE. I dont understand how they do business with this poor customer care. Definitely, not buying a Volkswagen again. On top of that I bought the extended warranty!!! I have a 2011 Volkswagen Golf TDI, which I bought new. Its one of the Diesel cars that VW was found to have lied about. About a year ago I signed up for the VW TDI settlement program and planned to turn in my TDI this fall. Now, to add insult to injury, the High Pressure Fuel Pump has failed, which I am told is catastrophic and will now cost $4500 to repair. Unless I repair the car I will not be eligible to turn the car back to VW or be able to have them retrofit it so that I may continue driving it. The car has 124,000 miles on it and the extended warranty, which I was not informed of, expired at 120000 miles, just a few months ago. I was never informed that there was an issue with VW fuel pumps. Apparently, the High Pressure Fuel Pump was the subject of a federal investigation which I never heard about. Further, Volkswagen has paid for this repair on vehicles outside the extended warranty period. A quick web search reveals thousands of these HPFP failures. Please consider looking into this, as VW has set a precedent by paying for these repairs past warranty and now they will not cover mine, leaving me with this huge burden. Thank you.

We purchased a 2012 VW CC in May of 2012. The car was used and had approx. 18,000 miles at time of purchase, currently the car has 72,000. We had routine oil changes done (more than required by VW) and service to our vehicle. In 2014 at 51,000 miles our 2012 VW CC needed a new engine. We took it to a VW dealer and had the engine replaced. At the time of engine replacement, it was RECOMMENDED not included in our engine replacement that a transmission oil change may be needed. This information was not pressing in its delivery as other additional services were provided and included at time of engine replacement this was not. At the time of engine replacement the mileage was 12,000 miles over the recommended oil transmission change which was at 40,000 miles. Our car is currently at a VW dealer who is stating negligence on our part after ONE missed oil transmission change. We were quoted $5,500 to replace transmission on a car that will be three years old to us May 27, 2015. What options exist? Smells like a lemon.

My five years old 2011 VW Tiguan had two major mechanical problems. One problem with the fuel injection was fixed for free because of the recall. Another problem was the antifreeze leak that would cost me more than $3K to fix. That made me decide to trade it in for the reliable Volvo. One week after giving away Tiguan, the second car made by VW Jetta Sport Wagon 2013 didnt start. The dealership diagnosed sensor problem that can be fixed for only $300. After few hours they call us back (probably thought they didnt ripped us off enough) and told us that the computer is broken and need to be replaced. It will be another $1600 + $300 for the sensor that might be broken or not. We are very scared to hear from those VW people tomorrow. The car is very expensive and in the hands of people we dont trust who keep finding wrong things with very costly parts. I already told my sad story everyone I know. At this point we used to have two new cars and ended up with nothing just because we shopped at VW. I hope people learn from our mistake and that VW manufacturing stop producing these very expensive but so below lowest quality cars.
