My local Lexus of Kendall (FL) dealer nor Lexus corporate have resolved a problem with my 2013 ES 300h after many attempts. Lexus of Kendall dealer said if I maintain my car with them they will fight for me should there be any problem with the manufacturer in the future, so I did. Well, I reported a defect in the backseat leather shortly after my 25k maintenance appointment November 2016 while my car was under warranty. The backseat perforated leather dried and shrunk causing tension on the rest of the seat. It feels very rough and hard to the touch. The manager at the dealer took photographs, and said he will contact the manufacturer. After several months of leaving messages with Lexus of Kendall operator and voicemails I was told the manager no longer works there, and another manager (Bernardo) took over his work. I came in person to meet with new manager March 2017, by which point the problem area became larger, and same problem started to happen on the other side. He took more photos, said its not a Lexus defect because on one side it is perfect circle. I contacted corporate, submitted photos, and they asked Bernardo to weigh in. He said I caused the damage but could not explain how, and if there was a defect in the leather he would not be able to tell unless the leather was taken off and he can examine the back side of it. Corporate said I will need an expert in leather to run tests and determine the cause. I have never heard of such a response for warranty coverage. They denied to fix my car while under the warranty. I contacted the 3rd party dispute resolution address, provided by Lexus, several times with no reply.I purchased the car used with 6k miles in 2013 in perfect condition. Since then I rarely used or had passengers in the backseat. When I did have passengers the trips were short, just a few blocks in the city, and my passengers are slim. My car is stored under a carport, in a garage when I am at work, and my windows are tinted so the inside temperature does not get hot often. I have had others cars such as Audi, BMW, Chrysler, Honda over 100k miles and much older that did not have such quality issues even with daily use. My Lexus has premium leather with Luxury package, it should withstand at minimum light use. The problem from initial report to current has grown in size, and continues to grow. Terrible dealer customer service and misinformation, terrible experience with corporate. First and last Lexus. Photos from March 2017 and Feb 2019 are attached.

The exterior is sleek with sharp lines and soft contours. The interior is also sleek. I like the sound system and the navigation system. With our particular model, we decided that we wanted to upgrade a couple of options, particularly the sound and navigation systems. We also decided on the premier leather seats. In addition, we are able to comfortably seat five adults. The capacity was one of our major concerns when purchasing a new car. This model definitely fits our needs.

There was a bulletin put out about a known problem to fix under warranty vehicles for condensation in the driver’s side headlight. I get back and come up due for an annual state inspection and the car fails due to the condensation. Lexus refuses to Good Will fix the headlight even though the warranty expired during my deployment.I have low mileage only 37,000 miles on the car and they still wouldn’t consider that. I pleaded that they be sensitive to the fact I can control if I’m deployed and the warranty expired while I was gone. Now I’m expected to pay full price over 2 grand for a known condensation issue with a headlight. I expected better from this company. They care nothing for Military. Most businesses are far more accommodating. I’ll gladly trade in my Lexus at Honda.

I have had the back windows repaired 3 times. On the 4th visit, they finally replaced the motors, which corrected the problem. I had wasted 3 trips to Lexus, time off from work and finally the issue is resolved. However, now the tint has come off of the back right window. It is apparent, the trouble with the windows being taken out and repaired 4 times has caused this. The CD player has been in for repair also, along with the windows. The CD player is broken, the cover wont open, and will not play. I have been informed by the Lexus Corp. that due to the car being out of warranty, they will not repair it. My argument is the car has been in the service department for the same repairs 3 times, which has never been property fixed. After reading these reviews, I dont think I will ever buy a Lexus again. They have become the Ford of the Japaneese.The dealership, Lexus of Tampa Bay, is a joke. The main headquarters for Lexus is a joke. They both refer me to the other one. I am done. No more Lexus cars. My dream car, that I am still paying for, wont allow me to listen to my CDs. I cant see out of the back right window, and I have been made to feel like I am the scum of the earth by Lexus. Why didnt you treat me this way when I was buying one? I have contacted the Lexus service and and went to the service departments in person. They all didnt accept the car. I dont get it. I had the car checked before I shipped it from the States and I did make a complaint about the engine shaking to the service department when I was in New York, Manhattan service center. I had the car checked and the service department told me everything was fine. Now the car is dangerous to drive, engine light is on and the traction light is on. I went to a mechanic here and he said that some cylinders needed to be replaced. Other than that, my drivers side drive shaft needs to be replaced due to the rubber that is wearing off and some kind of liquid is coming out of it, which cost a lot of money and I went to the dealership and they told me that they couldnt even order the parts for me because they would never come. The car has two recalls that needs to be done. The gas pedal keeps getting stuck to the carpet and something that has to do with the fuel, and Lexus is putting my life at risk because I got the car from the States. I really do not understand. The car is still a Lexus and still belongs to Lexus. Im demanding the repair to be done by Lexus company at least from Japan. If you would at least send me an email to someone I can speak to in Japan, I would really appreciate it. The car only has about 9000 miles which is considered still new. Ive asked the Lexus here in Saudi Arabia to at least check the car from the computer to see what the problem is. They refused and told me the codes wouldnt come up because its an American spec car which is really just an excuse because Im 100% sure that it will read all the codes. Please direct me to someones email, just someone who could help me. I moved to Saudi Arabia and had to ship my car because of my work and was transferred here. At the time Lexus only made three models. Would have loved to have taken home the top model but it was out of my price range. Ended up buying the cheapest model which was the 300 EX. Its a nice car and I enjoyed it a lot until I traded it in for a BMW M3. It had lots of room. I owned it when my second child was born and it had room for both child car seats and for grandma to sit in the back. The front had lots of leg room. It was very comfortable, powerful V6 engine, with a nice quiet ride. It was a nice two-toned color, white over silver and gold plated accents. Got a great deal from the salesman who had a side business of upgrading the chrome accents to gold. Would have cost about $1,000 from the dealer but I got it for half that price.

In November 2013, we purchased a certified pre-owned Lexus that came with a 3-year warranty. At the time of purchase, the front bumper was slightly misaligned, with a small gap between the main body and the bumper on the driver side. Over time, the front bumper kept getting loose, making the gap very wide. Also, a gap started appearing on the driver side of the rear bumper.After ignoring several e-mails and phone calls of ours, Lexus requested us to have the car inspected by the service manager of the dealership where we purchased the car. At the time of inspection (August 13), the service manager looked puzzled and said that he would send the pictures and the description of needed repairs to Lexus. On August 19, the service manager informed us by phone that Lexus denied the warranty coverage because the problems were determined to be due to external causes. This argument, however, has no foundation because there is no trace of an impact on either bumper.On the same day, we sent the case manager at Lexus an e-mail requesting her to answer the following three questions in writing: (1) There is no trace of an impact. (I dont think the service manager found any trace of an impact. Let me know if he said otherwise.) What kind of external cause would make the bumper seriously misaligned without leaving a dent or scratch? (2) I understand that nobody can rule out the possibility of a minor contact on the bumper, such as a contact by another car at a speed of 2 MPH while the vehicle is parked. However, bumpers are supposed to withstand moderate impacts, not to mention minor impacts. If the bumper got seriously misaligned by a minor impact leaving no dent or scratch, shouldnt the manufacturer be responsible for it? (3) How can you rule out the possibilities of defective factory assembly or defective repair/replacement by the previous owner?By phone, the case manager told us that she could only send us a generic denial letter. The letter sent through e-mail simply says, it has been determined that the repair needed to the bumper is due to an outside influence. If they were allowed to deny warranty coverage without any reasonable explanation, they would not have to honor any warranty coverage. We are pursuing this matter through various channels, and we will update this as we get results.

I am an owner of this model mentioned in title and did not know what I was getting myself into when purchasing this vehicle. Should have done further researches. Anyway, we learned from mistake. This model is well known for his faulty ABS actuator and Lexus would not want to replace it saying that you are out of the warranty time frame of 5 months (Despite the very low mileage that you have), when they know for sure the car was made with a faulty part (which is why they extended the warranty on it in the first place). That is very low coming from Lexus. They are supposed to be one of the world class customer service especially considering the price of their product. Like I said, Ive learned my lesson. Last Lexus car here.

Lexus brand offers many upgrades and personalized options for you to add on for an additional cost. You definitely get what you pay for with the Lexus brand. My Lexus LX SUV is pearl white and despite it being over ten years old I get compliments on a regular basis. It still drives wonderfully and I havent had any issues with it either. The leather interior, heated seats, and built in GPS makes ride very comfortable. It also offers plenty of space for passengers to enjoy their ride. There is enough space for 5 to have plenty of room, including plenty of leg space for backseat passengers as well, which makes the LX perfect for long distance trips.

They developed a program to fix their short-comings and I was told it would be fixed a couple yrs ago. I dropped off car, they said they would fix issue and did nothing. After several calls, with zero returns I went to dealer. Was told we will get you in and take care of it, nothing again. Went back and was told the offer had ended and I need to call corporate. Corporate said they would not fix and I could pay for it myself.So, in summary, Lexus dropped the ball for over a yr and half thru a pandemic then would not make it right with a customer that has had about 10 of their cars in family over the years. Lexus only cares about selling their cars and obviously not keeping customers happy or doing what is right after their production failure with this certain issue. My advice is look elsewhere for your expensive vehicle purchase!

This is nothing but an excuse not to cover it. If it were a road hazard then there would be some kind of mark on the rim and/or the side of the tire, but there is none on either. I feel that this is a defect in the tire and should be covered under the warranty. It probably started out very small and is now about an inch and a half long, from the tread inward. This car only has 7,400 miles on it. This is my second lease of a Lexus. Then after bringing my car home, noticing it has a very small chip on the gas cap & the salesperson telling us Oh well, you took it home, nothing we can do. Each time Ive taken my car in for service it has not gone smoothly. The 2nd time taking it in they rotated my tires & since then my car has not driven the same. Took it in for the 3rd time and when I bring this up, the service writer proceeds to tell me that they could balance them for $90 & had I brought it in immediately after that they would have fixed it. Im trading in my car and will never recommend Lexus to anyone!

It said the airbag can deploy due to this defect and possibly send metal fragments through the airbag striking and possibly injuring or killing the vehicle occupant. It also said that Lexus is working on preparing a remedy and will send another notification when the remedy becomes available. Then it says What should you do? Until the remedy becomes available, we recommend that you do not operate the vehicle with an occupant in the front passenger seat.So their solution is to not have us drive with anyone in the passenger seat until some unknown time in the future (1 month? 6 months? 1 year? 2 years?), when they finally contact us to fix the defect. This is unacceptable. How are families that need to use the passenger seat to carry everyone supposed to function with this solution? They need to come up with a short time fix until the longer term problem can be resolved, e.g., remove the deadly airbag in the near term and replace it at some point in the future. We have seat belts that can protect the passenger in the meantime and the seat belt will not kill someone unexpectedly.My impression is Lexus sent his note because they are more concerned about their legal liability if the defect occurs and less concerned about how thousands families with IS 250 or ES 350 are suppose operate day to day and never use the passenger seat until Lexus determine the best method for minimizing their costs to address this issue.

Well, there is no chip in the glass but there was a chip on the top of the roof that had taken a large chip out of the paint. The hit was in alignment with the latch where the top fits into the windshield area...of course being a female, it was clear that the repair manager was right and I was wrong... we are treated different even in 2015. There is no hit on the windshield and due to my experience as an insurance agent for 30 years and having taken glass repair classes, I strongly feel the cause is a stress break caused by the roof structure and the design where the convertible top meets the windshield. The corporate office is to check with the service manager...hear what he says. Now really do you think he will change his story??? I ask that but got the standard answer...he is the service manager. I expect nothing but a run around even after being a loyal Lexus buyer of 5 Lexus....will never buy another Lexus unless they admit that stress cracks do happen and this is one. Beware of Lexus cars...run.

Received the vehicle in Aug. and within 30 days needed a new battery, which is not the end of the world, although unexpected. This weekend however, I took my 11 year old son to Chicago for his birthday and the vehicle started smoking and stalled on me on the 94 E expressway. I had the vehicle towed to a repair shop only to be told that the vehicle that I purchased 7 months prior, needs a new engine!! I tried to contact the dealership as well as had the vehicle taken to another repair shop for a second opinion, after the second shop, gave me the same results. I can not believe that this dealership is selling unsafe vehicles to the public. I did all of my research prior to this purchase for this to happen to me. I too, cannot believe that I am making a complaint about a brand that I put so much trust into. My next step is to contact the attorney general office about this situation.

But after having the vehicle for almost 1 year we noticed that the dash started cracking along the front edge and then after picking my wife up from work one day a large chunk of the dash right above the radio broke off and fell to the floor. We immediately called Lexus and asked about having the dash repaired they informed us that there was a recall on the dash and to call Lexus about having the dash repaired. We called Lexus and notified them of the cracked Dash and they informed us that there is indeed a recall for the cracked Dash but they told us the date for the recall expired the day before we called. But that they would look into it and see if there was something they could do.We took the time to take the vehicle to the local Lexus dealer to have pictures taken. Have it inspected and sent to Lexus so that they can review it only for them to call us and tell us they were denying the repairs on the vehicle. So now we are stuck with a vehicle in which the resale value has plummeted due to the crack Dash. Im very disappointed with Lexus that they do not stand behind their vehicle or even offered to pay a portion of the dash to be repaired. If this is how Lexus treats their customers I no longer want this vehicle and will be trading it in as soon as possible. My wife and I were also considering buying another new Lexus because we did like the vehicle until we see that Lexus does not stand behind their vehicle quality at all!!!

Updated on 09/04/2019: Lexus has refused responsibility for the poor design of the 10 speaker sound system in this vehicle. No fix. In a arbitration hearing an arbitrator referenced that the design of the sound system is such that it will not operate property (two regular speakers in the back cabin are simply overwhelmed and stated that this is how Lexus designed the speakers) but still denied claim - what a joke and a waste of time. My last Lexus!!!Original review: Rear speakers are worthless. Will only work if you fade completely to the rear (no sound then from front) and increase volume to at least 45 level. Lexus will not respond other than to say that is normal for this model - a manufacturing problem. Class action?

My first was a 1998 and was finally totaled by a hit and run driver in 2016 but had 275000 miles on it without a single repair to the engine or transmission. I serviced as recommended but nothing broke on that car. We have a 2007 now with all options and love this car too. So far at just over 100k miles, we have had mice eat some wires under the hood and the VSC, traction and check engine lights have remained on since repaired and we are not sure why. Also the new car has been hacked and cant figure out how to solve. To those who complain about paying annual to use features, I say dont buy luxury if you cannot afford it and every car has additional features to pay for! OnStar Satellite radio, etc. Overall Lexus is an affordable car at new, used prices so no complaints here! Also one thing about Lexus of the so many things I love is that there is NO road noise!

In certain model years of the GX 460 Lexus requires you to have a couple of paid subscriptions to use remote start. Now I get and fully understand the need for on-going service with the app that uses cellular signals to remote start, unlock, lock all that jazz via the app. However, to disable the key fob from working direct from fob to truck and have it require a subscription is bs! This vehicle already lacks in so many ways (i.e. terrible infotainment, worst navigation, etc.). This is just a pathetic choice on their behalf.You can experience a painfully slow touchscreen before you buy it and decide if you want to live with that on a $60k truck or not. When you buy you get a year of Enform service so you can’t experience the issue I’ve stated until after the subscription runs out and you then learn about this poor software choice made. Apparently it has caused enough attention that they stopped doing it for 2019+ but have no plans to retrofit a few years (maybe 2016-2018). I don’t know all years impacted as even Enform reps know jack about this. Shame on whatever genius department has their grubby hands in this.

But car can go 100000 miles before it needs repair. Its really good car to go on a road trip. I would definitely recommend my company. But, the car needs more work on the seats, it has been a difficult time trying to drive with sitting on this seat. I would also fix the door because it is a bit weak and it broke once.

They said they have replaced the radio and the antenna and still the static continues. The service department contacted the national technical department and they had no further fixes and said it works as designed. I have escalated my complaint to the Customer Service center in Torrance, CA. They are now saying they are unable to help me any further. It seems completely unacceptable that a luxury car company would not only make such an inferior product, but that they refuse to acknowledge the problem even though there are numerous complaints found on the internet. I will continue to fight this problem.

Second problem: Chrome finish on both rear wheels is peeling - another defect. Third problem: Had to replace water pump +$1000 bill. All this on a garaged 2008 RX 350 with less than 80k miles! Im a previous owner of a 2000 Ford Explorer and 2004 Nissan Pathfinder (both kept for 10 yrs 100k miles) - no problems with either one. Last Lexus for me! Now (7/2017) an oil leak. Now (1/2018) the dashboard is starting to crack. Called Lexus to get repaired under enhanced warranty program, I was told since the SUV was bought in 2007 that the 10 warranty does not apply. NEVER RECEIVED LETTER ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER LEXUS OR TOYOTA!!

There were winding noises in the steering column in the first year that were occurring intermittently. Lexus wont service you until they hear the noise or ** hits the fan. So, telling me that Im imagining things, a few days later at a stop sign, I hear a loud winding sound growing louder and louder under the car, like the car was going to explode and then crack! No noise, but what the hell happened. I told Lexus about what happened and they said that they fixed the problem with a new drive shaft and some other repairs. So I believed problem solved. No Way! Since that repair I have been to two Lexus dealerships and servicing that winding noise so much that I have lost count. Just the other day, my wife and her friends were going to the movies, when they all heard a grinding noise from the steering column than a cracking sound. The noise went away and back to the dealership again. But before going back to the dealership, I called Lexus Canada to file an official complaint because I have had enough and the fact that my 5-year-old son who rides in the vehicle is also recovering from cancer and his safety is at stake. When you drive a vehicle that the steering column makes winding, grinding and cracking noises, enough is enough! The car is at 57000 kilometers right now and enduring this for almost 40000 is the most stressful driving experience since my 2000 Jaguar S-type.They just told me that their is no official similar complaint in North America, but before that, the people working there shared with me that the company knows but has not made anything official because they need some more time. Now that I made the official complaint, they know nothing and say there is nothing wrong with the car? Are they ** crazy! Im ready to stand in front of the dealership with a lemon the size of the car and ** it. Not only are they lying to my face but they dont mind putting my family in harms way until the marketing department and engineers find a cost effective way out. Its sad how the dealers service people. All suffered memory loss at the same time I wanted a solution or the problem fixed. They say everything is okay in USA/CANADA. I contacted Lexus customer service and they scheduled me an appointment with my local dealer (Tri-County Lexus of little falls New Jersey) for an inspection. The dealer took pictures and sent them to corporate. A week later I contacted Lexus customer service and to my surprise they refused to fix the problem. I argued with them and they offered me a $250.00 credit for the inconvenience. Till this day I have yet to use the credit. A year ago I contact my local dealer for a quote on my dashboard and they advised me to wait. They said that Lexus/Toyota is aware of the problem and they will be sending out recall notices. I waited but never got a notice. Later I realized that a recall was issued for the melting dash but it did not include the IS300. I recently contacted my local dealer again for a quote. I asked them what they recommend I do, either I have my dash pulled out and repainted or I buy a new dash. The service advisor did not recommend I have the dash repainted, saying that the paint will eventually come off - that Im better off buying a new dash. I asked What if I buy a new dash and I run into the same problem Im having now? He did not have a answer for me. Hes said that he will call me back. Till this day I have yet to receive a callback. Ive called several times and every time I call Im told that I will get a callback. I am very disappointed with Lexus/Toyota. I am unsatisfied with the service they provided. I feel that all of this could have been avoided if Lexus/Toyota had just included the IS300 in the recall. This experience will definitely influence my business with Lexus/Toyota in the future.

I respect JD Power’s results and this is why I picked the Lexus ES as it is highly recommend. The Mark Levinson system is the worst I have ever heard as a premium system. The response from Lexus has been terrible or lack of. I have driven luxury vehicles for the past 25 years, and Lexus has been the worst customer service I have ever encountered and cannot understand how Lexus is so highly rated. I am not the only person who feels this way. After my situation, I started to go online and found many other people with the same concern. I think when a company rates other corporations, it should look at websites, forums and related blogs to get sense of customer satisfaction. I have contacted Lexus every other day for three weeks before I received a reply from someone. I think when you look at the price of the Lexus ES, Lexus really cheap out, claiming heated wood steering wheel - none of the wood is heated, ventilated front seats that do not work very well, no sunglass holder, no compass on the mirror if you upgrade to a GPS, and very poor voice commands on the GPS system. The vehicle feels very cheap; when you close the door, you can hear it is hollow. My vehicle is 6 weeks old and I have had the amp and subwoofer replaced as it blew, and a door speaker and the system still sound terrible. Lexus just band aids the issue and is not fixing it. My fear is if Lexus cannot remedy a stereo issue, what will happen when it is a really big issue?

If you didnt have a problem during the warranty period no action was required and no action would be taken on the vehicle. The warning came up on the dash after the extended warranty was over. We were told by the Dealership Service Manager that Lexus Corporate had always helped in the past on this issue so We had the work done at the Lexus dealership, about $3,500. When Lexus Corporate was contacted the Lexus case manager said they would have to look into it. They called back my cell but left no message at all. I called back but the case manager was unavailable, and I was told they would call back. This same process repeated several times. Finally, I was able to speak with the case manager and was told the policy is strict and nothing is done on extended warranty after the warranty period is over.Why were we not told of the unbending policy from the beginning? To the contrary we were told that Lexus had always covered this issue out of warranty in the past. We could have taken the car for the repairs somewhere else and saved money but were led to believe Lexus would probably provide full relief. Why is Lexus charging full price and making a profit from a known issue?

It is extremely interesting that the curtain and side did not open airbags when my car crashed over. However, the commercial materials and specifications issued after September 2007 wrote about a protection system of 360, according to which curtain and side airbags open automatically in case of car crash over. After years of research it was confirmed and the representative of the manufacturer recognized, as well that no RX 350, 400h manufactured and approved in Europe contains such a system. This way Lexus Europe misled its customers in the issued commercial materials. Lexus Europe is silent disposing, no recall as it is hard to find a remedy for this problem. In a few days we noticed more droppings and set the trap again. We caught another one. Then, we caught 2 more. Called Lexus in California, they told us to contact the local dealer in Birmingham, AL. We did and he told us they had the Lexus coming in all the time with mice. He said there was no way to keep them out, they were coming in from the bottom. We carried it to a friends tire service and put it up on the rack. There was no place for them to get in under there. With further searching, we found that the rats were building a nest in the fresh air filter. This past week, more droppings, set traps again, caught 2 more mice. We have had 4 Ford Explorers, 3 Chevrolet SUV, numerous other vehicles, trucks galore. We had 5 sons that had vehicles and none of the above or childrens had mice. That is a total of 6 mice caught in this car since May. This seems petty compared to what the previous comments were. It would really be terrible if the mice chewed the leather seats or some of the wiring. It would really be bad if one ran up our leg.

The police told us the cars were going 85mph. My sons car hit a bump in the road, went airborne and when he came down, he didnt want to hit the other car that was racing him, so he overcorrected the other way, hit a curb and rolled the 2007 Lexus 350 6 times. The car was mangled. But my son was able to walk away from the accident with a small bruise on his shoulder where the seat belt was and a scratch on his shin. The police who saw the accident could not believe that my son crawled out of the lexus with out any injuries. A higher power is responsible along with the excellent frame of the lexus. The front drivers side and passenger side overheard and side frame was intact. The rest of the car looked like it went thru the blender. I wish I could post pictures. The lexus 350 has always been a smooth riding car. Even though it was a 2007 with 130,000 miles on it, it rode beautifully. Needless to say my sister who owned the 2007 lexus 350 decided to buy another lexus. With its safety features, there was no question as to what kind of car she would get. However since she had a choice my sister purchased an RX 350 SUV.

She told me to go on Consumer Reports and look up this is a well known issue and Lexus is doing nothing about it to fix the issue. I called Lexus to inquire about the issue. The woman over the phone told me out her mouth there have been some cars my brand with GPS issues, but my car is no longer covered under warranty and it could cost me up to $2000 to fix the issue. I bought this car brand new, and this is supposed to be the best of the best. I was told when I purchased the car Lexus honors their mistakes, but it doesnt seem like they are doing it now. This isnt fair to the customer at all. They charge over $5000 for the GPS and in a few years while you’re still paying for the car the GPS breaks down, and they wont cover the cost to fix it. I am very disappointed in Lexus. I thought they had a customer first approach. I am also letting headquarters know how disappointed I am.

Since then I must have spent 3-4 hours on the phone with Lexus support. Still no resolution. I received no call backs nor a response of any kind. While on call I felt I was simply being placated by Lexus reps. Apparently I am not the only one who experience this issue. This is a systematic problem which impacts many new owners of Lexus who are trying to use their Enform services. I dont know about others but Lexus is going have to work very hard to convince to buy another car from them.

Valve guide seals ($4k), evaporator cores ($3k), coolant leaks, multiple window regulators, transmission issues, a/c issues, water pump issues, electrical issues and even engine bolts that break off! The list goes on and on. Just do a Google search. And these are with BMWs with 50,000 and 60,000 miles. I hope that my story will convince people to do their research and at least consider the Lexus brand.I bought my Lexus GS400 in 1999, and now at 16 years old and with 215,000 miles in my opinion it is one of the most reliable vehicles ever built. If you do some research, the 1UZ-FE V8 engine produced by Toyota in the late 90s (and used in the GS, LS, Tundra, LX, etc.) is one of the most bulletproof engines ever made. It will pretty much run forever. There are vehicles with this engine on the road today with 300,000, 400,000 even 500,000 miles and more. Even though it has evolved somewhat, it is still pretty much the same V8 motor used in Lexus vehicles today. That should tell you something.Now to my vehicle. In the first 5 years of ownership, I didnt have a single problem with my car. Not one. I replaced a battery, but that is something you would do with any car. In the 6th year, the throttle body assembly needed repair, but not a big deal. In the 10th year my starter contacts went bad (they go bad in all cars) and my alternator went out (again, expected for a 10 year old car!). Other than that its pretty much been regular maintenance: oil changes, tires, brakes. In 16 years I have never changed the spark plugs!! They are original. Ive driven up and down the east coast and this car has never left me stranded.Again, do your research and choose wisely. Today, KBB values my car at about $5-6k (it was $46k originally) but it doesnt matter because if someone wanted to purchase it today I would say its not for sale. I am keeping this one. Im sure Ill purchase a 2nd vehicle one day for fun - maybe a convertible - and guess what brand that will be? A Lexus of course! Even then Im not trading in my GS400 - this car is staying in my garage.

They also insisted that the DMV told me the wrong instructions, but it is the DMV that will get the title registered. I called them the 4th time today, and they finally got some instructions kind of consistent with the DMV. But they kept telling me to provide them some documents via Fax and no emails... I have to say, this car will be my last Lexus.

Its design is not too over the top and theres not a lot of extra bells and whistles. Just enough of a design to keep it simple yet it works. I dont need all the extras, I just need basic transportation and most of all safety is the biggest plus in any car. I believe in safety first and foremost. This car being 12 years old still has some of the goodies. It has the sun/moonroof, lots of airbags and antenna in the window vs. actual antenna that you see on cars. Its a 5 passenger car and has great sound from the stereo and many speakers too. It also has leather seats heated for your comfort, dual thermostat for the heater or air conditioner and lots of trunk space you can open from the inside of the car.

It seems to me you would have a reasonable expectation of a solid construction in an SUV and not something that is so precariously frail.

On the night I purchased it, the dealer manager rushed delivery and felt like they gave me a car that was sitting on the lot for a while. The tires were improperly inflated and I had PSI issues right away in 60 degree weather as well as Glue left over on the hood from delivery. There were also other issues popping up like rattles in the door that wouldnt go away to a loose ECU mount in the dash and ICS system failures for no reason. They opened up these areas within 2 days of owning the car. The service tech who rode with me to test the car was also rude and claimed he didnt hear the noises. However, they did find issues and attempted to rectify.The service department rep encouraged me to contact Lexus Corporate and I did. They were nice and ultimately with these issues escalated it to the Eastern Regional Office. That office contacted me to fax or mail over paperwork to aid in their review of my case. I did and when I called to confirm receipt of my fax, I received a condescending call from a woman named Karen who was very rude to me and told me that I had threatened her receptionist on the phone earlier because I mentioned I was encouraged by others to post my issues with Lexus on social media. I was so appalled by Karens call and made sure to call Corporate to file a complaint. Im so disappointed by Lexus and their service that my joyous new car experience is gone. They make good cars but for me, customer service is very important. For these reasons alone, I dont recommend Lexus.

This is very frustrating and is a safety concern. I have been advised by an attorney to take the vehicle back once more, and if the problem is not resolved, I will be forced to take legal action. I am certain that there are numerous consumers there with the same complaint.

Initially, the Service Manager, Andy and Supervisor, Jose were courteous & respectful. They provided me with a loaner vehicle while waiting for my insurance rep to come and look at my car. This took about five days. The dealership completed a diagnostic on my car as well. After approximately a week and half I received a call from the service Supervisor (Jose) and he instructed me to return the loaner back, which I did, that same day. Upon returning the loaner, I was notified by the Service Manager (Andy) that he and his staff were instructed by Peter ** (GM) not to service my car. When I asked why, they could not provide me a reason, refused to provide service to my car, treated me with extreme disrespect and escorted me off the property like a criminal. I did nothing to merit this type of treatment.Throughout the incident I remained calm and courteous despite their mistreatment I received. My vehicle has been serviced at this location many times in the past without any issues. As an ** man, the interaction was humiliating beyond words and not worthy of the Lexus (YES WE CAN) brand. In this day and age where respect for individuals and cultures has become lost, I expected more from Lexus.This unsatisfactory Customer Service experience was further exacerbated by the lack of service I received after reporting the incident. When reaching out to your corporate office, I was assured by the front desk person at that time someone would get back to me on this matter and discuss the issue, I have yet to receive the simple courtesy of a call or email from Sonic Automotive. I hoped to hear from Sonic Automotive or Lexus Corporation soon to bring a resolution to this extremely disheartening situation.

I explained to him that I was going to take it to my insurance company, and pay a $500.00 deductible, and have the vehicle repaired. He assured me that the plan would cover the damage, and just return the vehicle. I did what he told me to do, and my new vehicle arrived about two weeks later. The night before, I got a invoice from Lexus for $6500.00. I forwarded this information to the salesperson, and he said the damaged should have been covered. After speaking with his manager, it wasnt covered. Problem is now the vehicle was sold at auction, and I cannot put in a claim with my insurance company. I spoke to the Manager at the dealership, and he told me that when the car was turned in the salesman was supposed to inspect it, and he would have told me there was too much damage. That never happened. I told this guy from the get go there was a lot of damage, but he was sure it would be covered. Now Lexus is trying to put me on the hook for the damage, because somebody there dropped the ball. It is just aggravating to me that I was going to put the claim in to my insurance company, and this whole thing would have only cost me $500.00, and I listened to the Lexus representative instead. Looks as though to me the Wear and Tear plan is a scam.

Since that time, the Lexus dealership, JM Lexus, has had that car, inspecting it until December 10, when they called stating that there is nothing wrong with the car and that I should come and pick it up. Absolutely no information was given to me about test results, incorrect information was given to me about anticipated contact dates by Lexus corporate, and even management at the dealership appears to want to avoid any further discussions. In my conversations with Lexus corporate, they have provided minimal information and said the issue has been turned over to legal. In the meantime, I am driving a car that I am petrified to drive. It appears that it will take a product liability lawyer to intervene on my behalf.

I went on the Internet and found similar problems other owners were having--same type of $2,000 charge.I found one person who said that he did the repair himself, described the procedure and took pictures. It was a simple O-ring replacement in the electronic actuator. I crawled under my car, took my own pictures and compared them to his pictures. The leak looked similar. I took the instructions and pictures to a local repair shop, not Lexus.I went over the information with the owner and he said it looks pretty simple. He put my car on a lift, raised it, removed 3 bolts and slid off the actuator. The O-ring was bad. Lexus did not have an O-ring in stock but Toyota did, which was the same part number. The O-ring was $5.00. Lexus was probably charging $20.00. He replaced the O-ring and reinstalled the actuator in less than one hour.This $2,000, 20-hour labor job took one hour and cost me just $85.85. Now, that makes me feel good but very angry at the same time, knowing how I could have been ripped off. I just want to let the public know that you should do some investigation on the Internet before making a high dollar commitment. You might find an answer that will save you thousands of dollars.

I do not understand how anyone who had problems I had could possibly call it reliable. The whole experience was shameful. Given my experience with a Lexus, I now question Consumer Reports rating system for rating that company number one in reliability. I had American cars I got three to four times the life out of than this supposed “Bulletproof” reliable car. I am sticking Mercedes, Genesis, Honda, Mazda, Kia, or Hyundai. In my opinion there are better cars for the same or less money than the Lexus ES350 I owned.

We replaced the tires several times and finally found out that the chrome rim has tendencies to lose air due to it being chip or being rotten with time especially from Texas heat. We went numerous time to the dealer but never got a proper answer. We were not sure if there was a nail or if it was because of the chrome wheel that caused the tire pressure to be that low. The service and parts are so expensive that it will be too difficult to maintain it. Secondly, we never received any kind of recall notices from the company although we lived same place for years.

This type of keys open any coded car without getting the alarm to go on. I contacted the dealer customer service and I ask how safe and secured is their car and they told me that it was the best car in security system. When I told them what had happened to my car they didnt know what to say and didnt want to help. My insurance told me that my car was a total loss. I was mad and disappointed with the Lexus company. I had a BMW before and it is a better secured car than the Lexus.

AND, the handling and responsiveness of the vehicle. We had an issue with our Lexus SUV in that the front end alignment would not stay in place for even a month. We went on line and saw that several Lexus owners had reported the problem. Lexus worked with us to find a solution and shouldered the cost of fixing the problem. The proposed solution worked and the fact that they covered the cost was a very pleasant surprise. Yes the car was under manufacturers warranty, but past experience has been that the dealership finds a reason why is not a warranty issue and passes the cost onto the car owner.

Car itself sticker price over $50,000.Navigation system had older road map, and 3-year old roads does not exist in this system. I asked Lexus dealer in Raleigh NC to update system, which most $100, navigation system offers free. Lexus want additional $250 for changing this software after paying all the prices for the car and very expensive price for a GPS Navigation system. SO for any one buying a new car, ask the dealer to install a new software before you pay for the old system.

Both Lexus Financial and the Lexus dealership confirmed I was eligible.Two months later and I am still paying for the car I turned-in early in January, Lexus Financial cant find the money automatically withdrawn from my checking account, and has sent me to collections! Im supposed to pay double for a car I turned in under their offer? And the collections agent flat-out lied about the status of my account. Her response when I told her the money had been withdrawn? No, your bank took it back. So, here I am stuck with a car I now hate, a bill for six months of lease payments on a car that only had three more payments to go.

I quickly got to an exit ramp when the engine just stopped. It was towed to the dealer where they told me the water pump had failed and the engine burned up. Again, there were no warning lights until right before the engine seized. Repairs were estimated at 7500 dollars for a used engine that was not even a Lexus engine. Dealer offered me $3000 for the car or $3700 if I traded it in for another Lexus. Needless to say, I do not want another Lexus.

By the time she stopped the car to Safe place, Car interior area started smelling like burning rubber. She stopped the car and get it towed to nearest local mechanic place. I gave call to Nearest Lexus dealership and asked them about the Issue and if that would be covered by Lexus Warranty. To my total surprised, they declined covering under the warranty because Powertrain warranty expired on Bases of Time of First Sell (72 Months or 70000 Miles). They argued that even though car mileage is still under Warranty period, Since Warranty Expired Four months ago, they would not cover it. Dealership asked me to take this to Lexus Customer Care.I called Lexus customer care and explain them the potential safety concern about sudden water pump failure without any prior indication and asked them if they would cover due to the fact Mileage is still under the warranty limit and close proximity to warranty expiry time limit. I was asked to get vehicle to safe place and wait for Manager to get back to me within three days (By Friday, Incident happened on Tuesday). I waited for call from Lexus but no one returned call till Friday end of business day. I called back and asked to Speak to Manager over there. First of all when she (Vicky) came on call, she had no Idea what issue I was referring to, because she started talking about some Oil pipe failure etc. I had to repeat entire story again, which shows that they didnt even look at my case even though I was told that someone review it and get back to me.Talking to Manager (Vicky) I tried to explain since its part of powertrain and problem existed even Under the warranty period and I dont have direct control over its failure, its clearly indication of bad quality of engine and parts. The most important part is safety hazard of car catching fire due to overheating. Lexus Customer Service stick to the three months over the powertrain warranty and refuse to take any accountability. I was asked to tow the vehicle to nearest Lexus dealership which is 30 miles away from where car is stalled. I asked Lexus about some level of assurance on warranty coverage but they keep on saying We cannot give you assurance of any help at this point. They will talk to Lexus dealership and then only consider this for help. I called nearest Lexus Dealership and asked for the estimation of water pump replacement, they quote me $1200+. Considering towing expense (about $300), hefty dealership cost and absolutely no assurance from Lexus Customer Service, I decided to get water pump replaced at the Local mechanic place where car was pulled over for diagnostics. I paid complete expense out of pocket and filed reimbursement claim with all receipt and documentation. To my total surprise, they declined the claim based on the fact that it wasnt replaced at Lexus Dealership. I swallowed this poisons pill and decided to move on. After three days of driving around (all together less than 100 miles), check engine light came on with VSC light. Took it to same mechanic who replaced water pump and he said its nothing to do with water pump. Now engine is misfiring and heating up. Since it sounded like major problem, I called Lexus Customer service and ask for help in this. I was again asked for to take it to Dealership which I did. Primary diagnostic from Lexus dealership pointed to structural damage to Engine due to premature water pump failure and advise me to replace whole engine, which is huge expense. My bases for taking this to claim is : Water pump is part of Powertrain and has no influence by driving pattern. Failure of water pump at 61000 miles is very premature and indicate toward inherent problem with engine and related components. Safety Issue: There was no sign of water pump failure until last moment when it actually gave up all of sudden. There was very little time before Check Engine lights came on and further damage due to overheating. If it was ignored for couple of miles car would have caught into fire. Powertrain warranty is 70000 Miles or 72 Months, whereas cars mileage is 61000 and time since first usage is 75 months (just 3 months over the warranty). Considering close proximity to warranty expiration, Lexus should consider this for warranty extension. This Engine series is infamous for cooling system issues and several service bulletins have been issued regarding it. Several complaints have been filed about the similar problem, where water pump failure and subsequent engine damage.

The upgrades has hands-free parking, heated seats which are very important in the wintertime and cooled seats are very important in the summertime. Remote mirrors which are heated is very important in the winter time to keep the snow off. Passenger capacity is very good. It seats 5 comfortably, two in the front and 3 in the back with another leg room in the front to compensate. A 6-foot person can probably sit back there pretty much constantly in the back of the car.

The salesperson Mitchell ** told me a bunch of issues with my car and told me that I need to pay for the extra services with came up to be roughly $1,500. Thats ridiculous when I have the platinum warranty. I told him to look at my coverage and only do the work that are covered. He then told me that I need to pay the $148.71 fee since they had the technician assessed my car. That was absurd since I already told them the issue and the technician jumped into the car and took a ride and agreed with that but I have to pay for his fee?I was like whatever, if I pay that fee then they will fix my issues. After I paid the fee, Mitchell then told me that he had to call Lexus warranty service to check on the coverage and it will take a couple of days. He says those parts will be cover but he still needs to get a confirmation with Lexus warranty. So I unhappily left the service center and totally forgot about it. When I remember about the issue after I got the oil change, I went home and pulled out the contract that I first bought the warranty and surprisingly. Its listed in black and white that the rear shocks and ball joints are covered.So I showed it to the new salesperson and hes happily helping me with that. Only to replace the leaking rear shock. But not the ball joints since they are now in perfect condition because I got new tires. How is it that when I first brought in my car, those were the issues that you made me pay and now since its covered under the warranty, they are fine now? Its the same old ball joints. Time does not fix mechanism issues on automobiles without replacement.

It stands out way better than other brands, nice color choices and body style. I think I would choice this brand over any other regardless of price etc. I am very happy. I dont think I would really change anything because it seems like they thought of everything when making these cars. But if I did I would just make more custom options available. I would make the passenger side have just as good features as what the drivers side has, if not better because a lot of times the passengers are tired from hard day work when husband decides to drive.

The butt warmers are nice and help to keep us all warm during the winter months of the years. Our model specifically can only hold up to five people. However I believe that Lexus makes other models that can hold more people than that. This car suits my family well as there are five of us and we are all able to fit comfortably in the car. The car has a small built and our model is black and sleek. The paint has stayed nice and sharp throughout the course of many years and I believe that it will continue to do so over the next couple until we decide to go to either donate the car or purchase a new one. We are interested in a car with seats that are not leather as the smell bothers my family and the seats always seem to be super hot or cold.

I have a 2008 RX350 with 54K miles. I had a couple of problems within its 4 -year warranty. One was to replace the oxygen sensor. Another one was to add more Freon (AC not cool enough). Now I have two other problems. Last month I had a flat tire and tried to use the lift jack provided to lift the car. The jack cant stand straight and will crush. This is very dangerous if you just remove the flat tire and your car will crush to the ground. I never saw such issues with Honda accord and Ford Taurus previously. I am considering to buy a floor jack. The rubber boot on rear strut was broken after just three and half years, it was still in warranty but I forgot to bring it to dealer for repair, due to some hardship of my personal life at that time. Now I worry about the replacement of that strut. Why do Lexus use such cheap part? It is hard to say Lexus is building a quality car. I dont know if I will buy another Lexus car in the future.

Be careful with this problem, I had it happen to me and the dealer said it will likely be a 2500 dollar repair. I went on the net and researched the problem and found it required a software update so I thought 2500 is a bit much so from my computer experiences. I thought a reboot might work so I disconnected the battery cable and left it off for about 10 minutes while I cleaned the cables and posts. Once reconnected, rebooting started and problem fixed proving to me once again that all car dealers are crooks and now Lexus is at the top of all the crooks. It took me about 15 minutes total to do this repair saving me 2500 dollars which equates to 10 thousand dollars an hour at the dealership. They should be arrested for fraud.

When taking it in for airbag recall with now 30000 miles and still under warranty I mentioned the seats. They have refused to repair it or replace them. I have a 1994 F350 we towed the race car with and 200000 miles and seats perfect. Any other vehicle I have owned, Im 70 and owned quite a few, never had coloring worn off the seats. On my 2010 Lexus didnt have a problem. But now I guess they are saying we cant meet the quality of all the other car manufactures. This is totally wrong what they do and should be held accountable and take care of the defect.
