Update on 02/18/2019: Day 14 waiting for a resolution. Our car was taken in for service because of a check engine light being on twice. On the second inspection they determined that our transmission needs to be replaced. With the vehicle being less than 6 months old and just reaching 4,000 miles we were obviously upset. We waited for the first week asking to just have the vehicle replaced. Now Im not sure I ever want to do business with Kia again. So here we are 14 days later waiting for someone to let us know what they are going to do for us! Numerous emails and phone calls and NOTHING. It is becoming very clear that Kia is not willing to do the right thing at this point.Original: Buyer beware! My husband and I both leased new Kias in August. My Sorento needs a new transmission at less than 6 months old and at 4,000 miles. We are being told the transmission should arrive on March 10th. In the meantime I am paying a car payment on a car I dont have (at this point it is 11 days). If (big if) my car is done on time that means it will be there for 35 days! We have spoken with Randy ** (Kia consumer affairs lead escalated case) with no resolution. I have told Randy that I would like my car replaced with a comparable vehicle or a lease termination and refund. Randy is basically beating around bush without actually saying they will not do either. He would like to look into some type of goodwill. Really not interested in goodwill at this point. My family learned a valuable lesson about Kia and how much they value their customers.
I have a 2014 Kia with 130,000 highway miles. It is now using oil. In the 50+ years I have owned vehicles I have never had one that used oil. At 86,000 miles it needed rear calipers because they were rusted on. Four mechanics told me this was not normal. This car is either on the highway or in a dry garage. Kia refused to help in any way shape or form. Needless to say my next vehicle will not be a Kia. I purchased this vehicle from the Kia dealership in Boardman Ohio and I have never experienced such unprofessional customer service.
I purchased a 2015 Kia Rio specifically for gas mileage and the GREAT WARRANTY. The finance manager at the time of purchase promised the world in regards to the warranty... As a result, I paid for the additional warranty so I didnt have to worry about repairs, etc. Well, not even a month later and 2 days before my first payment is due, the AC went out. Not to worry right!! I have Kias great warranty!! WRONG!! According to the Service rep a rock must have hit the AC compressor and created a hole in the compressor, therefore its not covered in the warranty. They are currently refusing to cover the repair. What a joke this company is. These companies can get away with anything... Unbelievable.
Have you ever had to replace a radio in the first 3 years of the cars life? Unbelievable! Took it to the dealership, and we were over the warranty by 2,000 miles. Back to the original question - Have you ever had to replace a radio within the first three years? Let me take this one step further - have you ever had to replace a radio... period? From my own personal experience of over thirty years of car ownership, I can say with great confidence the answer is NO on both counts... that is until I owned a Kia. Before you purchase this car, consider the possibility that they stock it with POS electronics that will go up shortly after the warranty expires. Oh, almost forgot the cost for a replacement of the POS radio is $2,000. You did not misread that quote. $2,000 to replace something that will likely go up in another three years. Before you think of buying Kia, look elsewhere for manufacturers that are willing to stand behind their product!
I bought a Kia Sorento 2021 in March. In June we had to take because of a manufacture error code, they kept for a few days and now again I had to take it back another manufacture error code with the engine. They have it since Thursday November 18, 2021. No car replacement and when I call Kia consumer they give an attitude when you are expressing my frustration.
My current wife and I purchased a 2011 Kia Optima. We only purchased the car in my wifes name because we were just dating at the time. We would become engaged about 7 months later. We get married, we moved to Texas, I go to the DMV to get the tags changed over. We take great care of our cars. We reach 98K miles. We finally have a true problem with our car. The engine is gone. We need to replace the engine. Kia tells me that we dont have a valid warranty on the car because weve sold the car. I explain to them that we havent sold the car we just moved to a different state. And I registered the car under my name but the title still has my wife on it. Granted when the lady told me that we didnt have a warranty on the car, was very upset and cursed a bit over the phone. After a week of fighting over the phone with Kia and the dealership they decide to honor the warranty. The follow up with the Kia and the dealership has to be some of the worst customer service Ive ever seen in my life. No one called to let me know they received documents from when I sent them. No one called to give me status of on the car. I will NEVER buy another Kia in my life. This is the worst company to ever buy a car from. They will try to give you every excuse of why they cant honor the warranty on your car. STAY AWAY FROM KIA. Its a waste of your time and money.
I bought my Kia Sorento brand new in March of 2011. Just over the weekend, the check engine light came on. The dealer has to replace the canister and said it was because I topped off when getting gas, and that the warranty only covers a one-time replacement of the canister. Well, I have not topped off when getting gas and even if I did, this is a brand new car! The mechanic said these cars are sensitive. Seriously?
I went to Kia in Chester, VA after receiving a letter in the mail stating there was a recall on my 2011 Kia Sedona airbags sensor. I was also referred from a mechanic shop who performed a yearly state inspections. I brought my vehicle to Kia maintenance for the recall and they ran a diagnostic on my Sedona. The maintenance person came to after running the diagnostic to explain that my vehicle was not having any issues from the recall and I was then charged $110 diagnostic fee. I really really believe that Kia is running a scam on this by bringing customers in with a recall warning and then charge the customer a diagnostic fee. Kia has lost my business and I will be telling everyone to stay from any Kia product.
Unfortunately I have had an extremely bad experience with Kia cars. Ive bought 2 new Kia cars recently (64 and 67 plates) and have had nothing but trouble. The car I have at present (Picanto) had its 30,000 mile service last week only to find out that the tyre pressure settings had been set either by the main dealers technicians or at manufacture by Kia at a dangerously low level meaning no warning signal in the inbuilt computer alighted to tell me it was being driven underinflated. The upshot of this is that both front tyres are at a dangerous level and both Kia and the main dealers, JCB Ebbsfleet, will not take responsibility for their error. I completed a complaints form with both Kia and the main dealer at JCB Ebbsfleet and after 8 days I was still not contacted in any way. I followed up today and was told its not their problem and they have no interest in it.They have left me with a car which is a potential death trap and have no interest in putting their errors right. BEWARE!!!! They sell you are car but after that youre on your own, after sales care is nonexistent, their complaints procedure is an absolute joke. Needless to say I will never buy another Kia and certainly not through JCB Ebbsfleet Kia dealership who have really been shown up to be very poor and extremely unprofessional.
I am an owner of Kia Rio 1,3/2004 and I am generally satisfied with it. There is only one problem. I must buy a new car key nearly every year. Car key is a wear off - grind in keyhole. This occurs because the key is made of brass and keyholes of steel. Service men know this, but they are powerless to solve this problem because every new elementary key is made of brass instead of steel.
I give 5 starts for the sales lady and 1 star for the financing department. We made a deal with the sales lady Josslyn and she went to her manager Eric everything was set 60 months at $320 per month we get to the financing dept he goes no way that cant happen. I told him, No Eric said 60months @320 its a deal. We bought the KIA. Well, in financing it ended up 72 months at 328? My husband said not to make a scene so I said well when I come pick up the tags I will talk to the manager Eric and Josslyn. That happens yesterday 10-29-11.The financing guy said you should have told me .I informed him I did more than once he kept telling me that wasnt going to happen. So yesterday, he goes the paper work has been file so what do you want me to do. I informed him I wasnt happy the manager and sales person gives you a price and when you get back to his office whatever the manager say doesnt mean anything I dont feel that is right .This isnt the first vehicle we have gotten. He was wrong charging us one more yr I know we could have said no to the car but my husband said go ahead but if he has done it once how many other times has he done it to other customer. He had no excuse but it cant be done yet the manager gave us a discount because it was a 2011 and the finance guy didnt and wouldnt sale it to us at what the manager and sales person quoted us.
I brought my car in for 15,000 miles maintenance. Alignment way off; told me they couldnt fix it 100%. I asked why and they said something must be bent. I asked them what? They replied they didnt know. Told me I had recall for front right axle. They had to order the part and would recheck wear on tires to see if their incomplete alignment caused any issues. So about a month later I brought it back in and they said wear was fine, replaced right front axle and I had hope that was the reason the alignment couldnt be fixed 100%. They knew I was going on over 2,000 mile trip for sons wedding. I have no shimmy, although alignment isnt 100%, it still seems to be okay. About 100-150 miles from destination, have EMTs pull up on right side of my car and roll down their window. We roll down ours and they point to my passenger rear tire and then angle their arm. We pull off immediately and sure as heck my passenger rear tire is bent inward at top, around 11 oclock. I drive 50 mph rest of way, check alignment and Im not pulling any worse than before. I call Kia Roadside assistance and they come tow my car to local dealership. They didnt look at my car immediately, but had only had it 2 hours and call me and let me know that my front passenger strut is bent (Why didnt the dealership notice this when they replaced the axle on that side, or when they couldnt correct the alignment 100%). If it took this dealership less than 2 hours to find the bent right strut, why didnt they find it? Why didnt they look. Supposedly going to cost me $680 plus tax to fix (Not under warranty... WHY??). I hit nothing, I ran over nothing. Is this possibly a recall issue, or should be a recall issue and due to strut being bent, it bent my back right tire inward. Supposedly once strut is replaced and car is realigned, my passenger rear tire will straighten out. Im not stupid. Maybe because Im female they think I am, but Ive worked on cars for over 25 years. Im betting that my rear passenger tie rod is bent. I even mentioned it at the dealership, in the service department, but they are adamant that itll be fixed once the strut is replaced and the car is realigned. They have already said that they could tell I didnt run over or hit anything, so why am I paying out of pocket anyway? Isnt it supposed to be under warranty? If the tie rod is bent, isnt that the fault of the dealership that did my original alignment and told me that they thought something might be bent, but didnt look for it? Then again when they replaced the passenger front axle (recall) and didnt notice it and still couldnt get it aligned? Shouldnt they pay for this? Im frustrated and angry, first for them treating me like Im stupid because Im a girl and girls dont know anything about cars... BS, and then when Im suggesting itll be more than just the strut, telling me that Im not qualified (another way to say that Im a girl and girls dont know anything about cars) to think that..... And they are the experts, yet they didnt even look for what they thought was bent. I mean they literally said we think something is bent and then didnt look for it. Whats wrong with that picture? Annoyed, from California and Stuck in Illinois until my car is fixed!!!
My 2016 Kia Sorento seized on 8/16/19... stopped in the middle of the highway. No lights, no sounds, nothing. Did some investigating and it was out of oil. Just had it changed on 6/7/19. Dealership is refusing to honor the lifetime warranty. Again, no lights, no warning, no nothing. 5.5 quarts of oil went somewhere in two months. Or at least thats what was SUPPOSED to be in there. There are several class action lawsuits pending as well regarding this issue & similar things. Dont be fooled.
Purchased a Kia Rondo EXV6 in May 2008. Have had ongoing issues with the transmission which we started to notice around 71,000km. We brought the car in, they didnt find anything wrong. We followed our required maintenance plan and my husband is very particular about high maintenance for our vehicles. My husband purchased the extended warranty. At the time we purchased it he was told the extended warranty covered the car as though it were brand new! My husband specifically asked if the transmission drops out of this thing at 199,000kms, will it be covered? Answer was an emphatic “Yes, for sure! Guaranteed!”That was a lie. We repeatedly brought the car into two different dealerships with transmission complaints. And until last summer, the dealerships diagnostic tests deemed there was no problem found. Each time we had to pay over $100 for the diagnostic only to be told they didnt find a problem. Last summer, there was finally an acknowledgement that they found a problem with the transmission during their diagnostic. We thought “Wonderful, it will finally be fixed!” No such thing. We found out the dealership had to report to the Kia Protect extended warranty insurance company and received permission from them. They sent an adjuster out to test our car. Of course the adjuster said there was no issue and refused the repair. Approximately two weeks ago, the heater and the heater blower went on the car. We were in an extreme cold alert in our area during that time. I brought the car in for repair and once again reported the problem with the transmission. This time I pinpointed what gears were slipping when shifting and it was getting bad. We received a message from the dealership - they confirmed the transmission was not shifting properly. They indicated they would have to put the claim through the extended warranty company and then wait for approval. In the meantime, they temporarily fixed my heater so I could take my car. The next week the heat went again and at the same time the dealership asked me to bring the car in for inspection by an extended warranty company assessor. The assessor acknowledged the problem with the transmission and said it needed to be fixed. He commented to the dealerships service department that our car was in really great shape and it was worth doing the repairs because it was in such great shape. We were relieved and happy. We thought this meant the transmission would FINALLY be fixed. The next call we received was from the dealership - they asked us to bring in our proof of maintenance paperwork as the EWC (extended warranty company) was now saying they would reject the repair because we did not follow the recommended maintenance. We did the required maintenance as outlined in our Owners Manual and as advised by the dealership. We brought our paperwork in. The next call we received was from the EWC. First they tried to argue with my husband about the recommended maintenance. My husband argued that we performed our required maintenance and that not doing the recommended maintenance did not void our warranty as it wasnt a requirement. When the EWC saw this angle was not going to work, they told my husband that the car was only worth $2500 and the repairs would cost more than that so they would not approve it. My husband argued and we looked up the black book value of our car. We found a car with approximately the same kms was worth at least $4000 more than that. I took to social media to vent my frustrations and suddenly my husband receives a call from an ombudsman from Kia Canada. He spouted the same crap as the guy before. I again took to social media and then my husband received a call offering us a discounted rate of $900 to rebuild the transmission and this would include the repair of the heater and heater blower. We refused. We dont believe this company is being above board with us. They are not honouring what we were told when we purchased the warranty. This warranty is a scam. If they have no intention of repairing the vehicle then why cover it until 200,000km?!! This company should be reviewed by the government for the sales of these warranties.
Purchased a 2011 Kia Sorrento brand new (less than 100 miles on it) in August of 2014. Went to bring it in for a simple camera replacement that would be covered under the 5 year/60k warranty, only to find out that the warranty started back in 2011 when the car was placed on the lot. So by the time I purchased the car, there were only 2 years left of the warranty unbeknownst to me (even though they sold me the car as new --certainly not a demo). Conveniently no one is able to resolve this issue -- hitting a wall with kiaconsumeraffairs, and the dealership is just not helpful altogether. This is my second Kia, and will now be my last. A lot of headache over a quick repair. Curious if all dealerships do this to lessen the chance of someone making a claim under the warranties -- have them all start prior to the car being sold.
This is the second time in less than a month I am in the service dept getting a coil replaced and its the third time in a year that its happening. Dont buy a Kia Soul.
My car has 52k miles and for some reason, the engine light came on one morning. I was driving to work and I was only a few blocks away from home so I return and asked my roommate if I can use his car to go to work while I take my KIA to the KIA service department. When I picked up my car, they told me the cars computer just needed an upgrade. I thought it was weird but I was happy it wasnt something worse. I automatically noticed a huge, I mean huge, drop in mpg. I bought the car because it was supposed to be good on mileage, otherwise I would have bought a Prius which was my other choice. I took it back the next day and they checked it and they said that they found nothing wrong. I was really upset. They gave me a pamphlet that I should read to show me how to get better gas mileage; I was really pissed. I know how to get the best gas mileage out of my car and I do regular oil changes using synthetic - nothing but the best and regular air filter changes everything. I went from getting between 33-37 mpg to 25-28. I am a very upset KIA own. I dont know what else to do.
My Kia Sorento 2009 diesel had 101,*** kms on it and since I bought it as new it has all type of mechanical problems. I told them the prob and I have a strong feeling it was the engine. They tested it and said that the car needed some parts. I changed the turbo and other parts which would cost over $1000 since warranty would not cover it cause its for maintenance and they charge me for filters more than $400. Since 2009 the car has in the mechanical shop more than 8 months, the last time the car was for 7 months, looking for some solution - at the end they changed the engine for a 3/4 engine. Two weeks after that the car was in the mechanic shop because did not turned on, and they change the turbo, and every week we need to return again for different failures. The car is in the mechanical shop again since more than 2 weeks without solution. This karma comes since 2009 and I do not have the chance to enjoy the car.I called back Kia and schedule an appointment to talk with somebody but nobody answer or return my calls. They never wanted to apply the warranty and in general charge me for a lot of parts that are warranty. We need to make a case for Kia to approve engine change. Since the car was under warranty although they never solve the problem and were waiting until the warranty expired. I tried to contact the corp many times but they never answer the mail or complaints. I decide to delegate this case to a lawyer cause I am so tired about this car and do not receive solution. Today I have a file with all history with more than 300 pages. Thank you.
I have never received such poor treatment from a company as I have from Kia Canada. I need warranty work done on my car and I live more than 1000km away from the nearest dealership. They will tow my car there (roadside assistance), but Im responsible to pay hundreds of dollars for a flight, cab for 40 mins from the airport to pick up my vehicle, pay for a hotel, then travel over 1000km where I not only pay for gas, but a ferry as well. I would never recommend Kia to anyone, they will not give authorization to any licensed mechanic to do any work. I will NEVER purchase another Kia.
What started out as a seemingly annoying problem went from bad to worse. The fan on my heater/air conditioner wouldnt turn off. I immediately called Kia and was told not a problem - bring it in and they will take care of it - earliest appointment was almost 2 weeks. THEN, about 8 days later the idiot lights related to the fan started flashing. Called again, not a problem - probably set off a sensor due to the fan running. THEN, while driving on the freeway, all the dashboard lights related to speed, mileage, gas level... went OUT along with the headlights. Called immediately and was told I could drop it off but they didnt have any loaners so it was decided I would bring it in the next day. When I came in, I was told I would be charged $102 for a diagnostic test - since it had to be done I agreed. After waiting 3 hours they said they couldnt find the problem so I got a RENTAL for $35 a day. After waiting all day to hear something, I got a call - still no resolution and it would cost me AT LEAST another couple of hundred to continue to locate the problem. NO CHOICE!!! I had to agree - I needed my car back. So today I get a call - the wiring harness which controls everything frayed and melted!!! And SURPRISE, its not covered. How the heck is that not a problem with the product??? So, now I have to pay over $1000 to get it fixed. UNFREAKING BELIEVABLE!!! BUYER BEWARE.
It makes me sick to watch the sandman Kia commercial. My young daughters watched that. What is wrong with you people? It’s so degrading for women. Cant our children watch television without being bombarded by sex? Geez, its about a car, not about sex. It makes me sick. What have you become, numb to morals. Im the Virgin Mary, but we have to start drawing the line somewhere. I will never buy a Kia now, just for the fact of the commercial. I will do everything in my power to talk people out of supporting any company that does that.
I was having my van serviced and fixed. I needed an oil change when my air bag light and check engine light came on. The dealership said that in order to check out the problems it would cost me $90.00 per problem. So I went to lock my doors, and the remote didnt work so I had them look at that. Now the other remote doesnt work either so they checked that out too. They said both remotes do not work . I find it a little weird that both dont work. The car is 4 years old and the one key and remote are in my safe, just in case I lock myself out and so I dont lose them. I would like to know if there is anything Kia can do for me and my family. Between me and my family, we own four Kia cars and we love them so I really hope you can help me.
I was driving into town to get gas before heading to work. I ran out of gas, called my roadside assistance, had them come give me fuel, tried starting it, and the roadside assistance person thought the battery was dead, and put a charger on it, and it still wouldnt start, and was recommended to have it towed, which I did. I called my mechanic at noon, to find out it had no oil, and the engine was seized. When I went to the shop there were no codes that pulled and I had no lights on the dash, no oil light, no check engine, etc. The mechanic actually had to show me where the oil light was, as it is right next to the low fuel light - I would have noticed it. Ive spoken to Kia who says there have been no issues with the 2012 Kia Sorento, but I beg to differ. I believe the sensor or fuse for the oil light had to have been malfunctioning, which led to my vehicle running out of oil, unlike Kia who suggested it was due to negligent maintenance on my part.
My car has been intermittently cutting off. The last incident was on Monday morning, it would not start - even though all the functions came on. Car had to be towed to the Dealer. Dealer confirmed that the car was NOT starting, and it was reverting to the default setting/test setting or something like that. They were looking into it. Well - they did not give me a loaner vehicle - even after repeated request, and the Customer Complaint service informed me that I need to secure transportation on my own and that he too has to do so for his own CHEVY.. talk about customer service that SUCKS!!Well, it is Day 3 - no calls from KIA to me, I am the one who has been checking on the status of my vehicle daily. The KIA rep supposedly came out yesterday but because they are not able to duplicate the error - they are unable to assist. So the bottom line, from the Complaints service Rep that I just spoke with is - Take the car, since it starts now... but we cannot guarantee it will not do the same thing. Also, Ive found online complaints where the KIA has just cut out while driving. This horrifies me, since I have young children and we have long commutes. I need some help, please.
I like the Kia Sorento because it is very good on gas and is easy to drive. It has a lot of space in to sit four people comfortably. It is a great car to go on vacation in too. I would make it have a large backup camera installed in it. And also the gas tank door would work all the time. Also a have handle on the front near the windshield for older people to be able to use it to get in and out with. The car has a noise in the motor but the dealership says they cannot find anything wrong. My mechanic says there is something wrong with the timing chain. All in all it is a good riding car.
We bought our Kia Rio 4 years ago and is now on its 20k km. We have never had a major problem with the car. Its got enough power and speed when driving along an incline. Every 6 months, we see to it that we visit the service center and have it checked. When you look at it from the outside, it seems that its small and not spacious at all but when you are inside, the knee clearance is about 3/4 foot and could accommodate 4 people at the back sitting comfortably. On the other hand, I noticed that there are times when you press the gas, the car doesnt respond instantaneously (there is a split-second lag) or does not respond at all. So what I normally do is I press the break until the rpm gauge drops then I start from first gear and work my way up the next gear. Last night while cruising, there was a moment that I couldnt go to the next gear so I had to put the car on neutral, then drive mode, then it responded as it should. I hope that this is just normal to automatic transmission cars and doesnt become worse if ever this really is a problem. Ive seen on the road a new Kia Grand Carnival and it looks awesome. Im wondering how much it costs.
It went from some noise to the rod going through the motor block in a matter of a minute. 2012 Kia Sorento. I put easy miles on my cars. Never have I had this problem on other makes and I usually keep the cars much longer. Now the Dealer is offering me $500 for the car. I just put more than that into brakes. This kind of built-in obsolescence will not keep me coming back.
The 2002 kia spectra may run but asthetically is poor. both seat belt buckles have broken off. the arm rest has broken off. the seat has broken. the passenger door will not open from the inside because the handle is broken. the dash is buckling up around the defrost vents. the ac has stuck on heat before because of an easily tripped switch under the dash and now the ac is stuck on defrost and wont change back to the vents.
I am not a Kia owner but would like to take the time to make a complaint regarding a commercial that is airing during family prime time. I am watching TV with my two children and a Kia car commercial came on that used foul language. I am not sure who is doing the marketing that would use that kind of language. I do not normally take the time to voice an opinion but I really found it offensive to use unfavorable language for an automobile commercial.
First I had to replace the clutch in my 2012 Kia soul ($700.00) and it had less than 70k miles. So I just happen to google the problem and its one of the top problems with the cars and Kia is debating or may have already quit with the production. This was 2 months ago. Now my wheel bearings are needing replaced? My soul has 70022 miles and I am so annoyed with the warranty not that it would have helped - I bought it 1000 miles used... give me a break. I am going to get in touch with consumeraffairs. This is ridiculous.
This has been the WORST experience I have EVER had. I went through USAA to buyout my Kia from a lease. Two months later I start getting collections calls saying Im two months behind because Indiana is a dealer only state, and not only was I never informed, records indicate that Kia CASHED the check from USAA. They claim they issued a refund check to USAA but a week later, USAA still doesnt have it. Now I am paying two car loans, both of which are accruing interest. THIS IS ILLEGAL!
Bought a 2015 Kia Soul. Great running car. Good fuel milage. Very responsive 2.0 motor. Seats are very comfortable. Lots of headroom. Found out there is a no spare tire. And I need to go to the dealer and get my oil changed. They want you to only use their oil filter. The car rides and handles great. Only problem with the car is the Road Noise. Took the Nexen tires off at 1500 miles and got a set of P7 Pirelli at Discount tire. It cut the noise in 1/2 but there is still a lot of noise. Got over 7000 miles in 6 months.
I went into Kia for a recall on the engine Sept 2017. On Jan 2018 the engine dies out on me. I get the worse customer service in the world. I never get calls back. I made a complaint to an employee and he tells me it will be approved for a new engine and he will call me back by the end of the day to let me know when the loaner car is ready for me. 4 days later I get a call saying they have a rental car ready for me to pick up when Im ready. I go in to find out I have to pay $200 deposit out of my pockets. I dont understand how my car engine blows out because of the recall and now I have to pay $200 for a rental car? Kia should provide me with a loaner car or pay that themselves.
The little door on my gas cap will not open. I took it to the garage 3 times now. The first time the garage just bent it. The second time they ordered a new door. The third time they just bent it again.Today, on my way home, I was almost on E and of course, my gas door would not open. It is very frustrating to have a car that you are not able to put gas in. I am requesting the Kia dealer to purchase a new gas door for my car, but this time, to give me a door that also has a key entry so I do not get stranded.
In all of my 54 years and multitude of vehicles Ive ever owned or leased, this one, by far, has been my favorite. Its also the first one I have not itched to replace after 2 or so years. It is the most comfortable and easiest to maintain and handle. The body and interior are well crafted and even after almost 6 years of use are still in almost pristine condition. The paint still looks brand new and the leather interiors seams and carpeting are still in great condition. I am not the most vigilant with washing and vacuuming either, but you wouldnt know it by looking at it. I would and do, wholeheartedly recommend the Kia Sorento SX to anyone.
My experience with Kia Roadside Assistance has been a very positive one so far. If I need any type of roadside assistance, I give Kia Roadside Assistance a call or I use the app that is on my phone and begin whats needed to get the wheels turning as to me getting taken care of. Every time I have called Kia Roadside Assistance its usually concerning a battery dead issue. Someone from Kia Roadside takes my information and sends someone out right away to give me assistance. The wait for the technician sent out by Kia Roadside Assistance is never a long wait. The technician from Kia Roadside Assistance is usually kind and straightforward offering help and then solving the problem in what I feel is record time. So, based on my experiences with Kia Roadside Assistance this last year and a half Im well pleased.
The air bag light stays on. My 2005 Kia Amanti has been repaired eight times in four years. The dealership cant seem to fix it. I am driving my car without working air bags! I want this fixed.
Musty smell started coming through vents. Saw a video to change cabin filter which I did. No better. Took it to Kia of Greer for a check and MOLD was growing in the A/C lines. Was told I need to let more fresh air in and not use the air circulating button so much. I got online and consumers from 2010 are complaining about the same problem. So we are breathing MOLD? Kia needs to be held responsible for the design of the A/C unit and where water is standing. This is a health hazard! PLEASE fix KIA!!!!
On Wednesday, October 31, my Kia Picanto broke down. It was towed to Kia in Alberton (arrived 09:30). I had called Bennie and arranged. He said they might not have a chance to look at it the same day, which I understood. The following day (Thursday, around 15:00) I had to call Bennie back to find out what was happening with my car. He told me they were stripping it and they were suspecting the crankshaft. The following day (Friday, around 15:00), I had to call back! Now Bennie was on leave. I asked to speak to the principal as I was not happy with the service. No one was getting back to me and now my car is standing while hes on leave? I spoke to Jaco, who promised he would find out and call me back. Paul called me back. They were putting in the warranty claim and I would have an answer by Monday. I asked for a loan car and Paul said I should contact Kia SA. Monday I contacted Kia SA as I still have had no call from Alberton. I asked for a loan car and told Jessica about my issues. Jessica said its up to the dealer to provide a loan car. She will call me back. Tuesday Sean called me and said they sent my claim on Monday. I then called Kia SA and spoke to Brendon. Both Jessica and Brendon have not returned the calls!
My drivers seat keeps breaking where plastic surrounds power area. Kia will not help me. They say its an outside influence. What do I do after 5 times since 2013?
In 2010, I brought a new Kia Forte koup. I love my car. I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM OUT OF THAT CAR. But I broke my back and could not do the low cars getting in and out of them. So I went to Kia and traded on 11-2-13 for a 2014 Kia Sorento. Well, things went down hill. 1st week, had to go back and they had to do a 4 wheel alignment. Then the door handle fell apart. Went back, had that put on, then it fell apart again. The back doors had a gap in them were you could put half your hand in them. Well, after going back every Saturday for 6 weeks, GM had me come in to change car out. But every 2014 Sorento on the lot had same problems. Then I traded for a 2013 Kia Soul. Up till now, no problem till yesterday. When am going down road and a piece of my car comes off and almost hit 2 other cars. So I have had to send this morning at the dealer again. If it was not for service lady where I go, I would have already went crazy on people. I WILL NEVER EVER BUY OTHER KIA AGAIN WHEN I TRADE THIS ONE IN!!!!!! !
BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE ONLY TWO YEARS AGO. IT HAS ONLY 69,000 KM. ON IT. On the way home from Saint John, it suddenly starts making a lot of racket under the hood. In pulling over to the shoulder of the road, the car stalls, will not even turn over! Just had the oil and filter changed the day before, so the first thing I do is check to make sure the oil level is O.K. The oil is fine. My wife and I had to walk back almost a mile to use a phone to call for a tow and a ride home.Long story short, THE ENGINE IS TOAST and because we were short two oil change receipts, they refused the warranty request! DEALER says a new motor will cost $15,000, so thats not happening! We have had the vehicle at the dealer for a month! In that time, they have ordered two used motors for us. The first never showed up, the second one, out of Quebec, wasnt fit to use. So now they have another motor ordered! How long do we have to put up with this crap? Is there nothing a consumer can do other than spend a fortune on lawyer fees?
Kia took an extra payment after a payoff was done. I called to have them refund the extra balance. First agent told me that it would be sent to the correct address. It did not. Forward a month later, called again to ask where it was. They sent to wrong address. Had the agent request a stop payment and send to correct address. Told me she did. Forward a month. Asked where the check was and the agent told me they never processed. Had the call escalated to two Incompetent Managers one which was named Julie. Julie started the conversation trying to act tough to get me off the phone. Told me to wait another half a month to get my money back. Funny thing is if I didnt make payments on the car guess who would be calling me for money. Im doing the exact same thing to get my money back. Julie then proceeded to get snarky and ended the conversation by hanging up on me. What a tool.
I have a 2014 KIA Sorento. I purchased this vehicle with the 100,000 mile/10-year warranty extension. My Sorento started having SiriusXM Radio reception problems around July/August of 2015. It would sporadically lose the signal and a NO SIGNAL indication would appear on the radio display. These signal losses occur no matter where I drive my car. I showed King KIA of Gaithersburg some of the many pictures I took of the radio front panel when the failures occurred. King KIA tried to fix the problem several times between December of 2015 and June of 2016 without success. King KIA then requested assistance from regional technical assistance. KIA Motors sent Field Technical Service (FTS) representatives to King KIA to check out my vehicle and the SiriusXM radio issue. The FTS technicians test drove the vehicle for 15 minutes, reproduced the problem, and then stated that this is normal operation from signal being blocked. When I realized King KIA might not have the expertise to fix the problem, I called SiriusXM Customer Service for help and forwarded more radio-failure pictures to them. Sirius Customer Service stated that the problem was probably the antenna or the Sirius Radio itself. After several calls and emails with Sirius Customer Service, they elevated the issue to their Technical Department. The SiriusXM Senior Director of Repeater Operations, Mr. Russell **, called me to discuss the problems that I was having with my SiriusXM radio and to offer his assistance. He said his office is located in DC and is near the route I travel to work at the Washington Navy Yard, in D.C. He stated that none of his employees, most of whom have SiriusXM radios, have experienced this problem, and some of them drive a similar route that I drive from Germantown. The director also sent me an email stating that the SiriusXM technical team had tested the route that I drive from Germantown, Maryland to the Washington Navy Yard and found no reception problems, signal outages or interferences. I contacted KIA Consumer Affairs and forwarded more pictures and asked for the KIA final report. Ms. Britney ** of this office stated that KIA would not send the final report without a request from a Lawyer. At this point I decided that I would obtain legal help, so I retained the Law Offices of Karpel, Link & Caporaletti, of Rockville, Maryland through my legal assistance plan offered by my employer, BAE Systems. With legal help it appeared that KIA Motors was willing to consider the Lemon Law and asked What is your clients demand? My lawyer replied that I wanted them to fix the radio issue or replace the vehicle with one with a working SiriusXM radio. My lawyer asked that KIA Motors provide the KIA final report that they would not provide directly to me. Not long after that KIA Motors stated that the issue was elevated to upper management, who determined that compensation would being denied at this time. They still did not forward the KIA final report. KIA Motors last email to my lawyer stated that they feel this is normal operating based on the area that I live. This email also referenced the very first invoice from King KIA of Gaithersburg (Ro# **) of 12 December 2015. This was the first time the mechanics had looked at my vehicle concerning the SiriusXM radio issue, where they found (incorrectly) that the signal fades only on 2 stations. The final email from KIA Motors also stated my radio performance is normal based on reception from the different radio stations. KIA motors forwarded pages from an Owners Manual that explains the process of AM & FM (not satellite) radio reception. Note that my vehicle does not experience any problems with the AM & FM station, only the satellite stations. It appears that KIA Motors has ignored all of the evidence that my lawyer and I have provided. I feel that KIA Motors has not read the emails or examined the photos I had provided, or they believe the little guy will eventually go away. The following is some of the evidence that we have provided to KIA Motors. 1) The signal does not fade, it is completely lost with a NO SIGNAL or WEAK indication on the radio front panel as we have proven with the many photos. Note that I have over 200 similar pictures saved on my iPhone if needed for proof of times and locations of the signal loses. 2) The signal is not lost on only 2 stations. It is lost on every satellite station I listen to and everywhere I drive as shown in the photos. 3) SiriusXM radio is not operating normally in my vehicle since it does not happen in other vehicles. For example, it doesnt happen in my car pool members two cars, who has provided a written statement. It didnt happen in the 3 or 4 different KIA loaner vehicles I used when my vehicle was in the shop at King KIA. And, it has not been reported as an issue by any of the many employees at the SiriusXM offices in DC with SiriusXM radios in their cars.4) This SiriusXM radio signal loss is not due to the area I live or drive, and is not being blocked or interfered with. This is based on emails I have received from SiriusXM Customer Service, and from the SiriusXM Senior Director of Repeater Operations and was forwarded to KIA Motors via my lawyer. 5) The King KIA service manager, Mr. Bill **, believes there is an issue with my SiriusXM radio reception, but is unwilling to say it is due to either the equipment or the installation in my vehicle, since his service department has tried everything they know of to fix the problem. After the last KIA Motors communication with my lawyer, my lawyer has declined to support my case any longer, and suggested that I file my complaint with the Better Business Bureau and/or Montgomery County Consumer Affairs. My suspicion of this terminated legal service is that the legal service offered through my company doesnt pay the lawyers their normal fees, and they consider my case not worthy of their efforts.
My wife took our car to Kia for a performance issue. Under the warranty, they repaired the issue which was a cylinder coil but told her that the MotorCraft spark plugs used by Jiffy Lube in her last tune-up would have to be replaced at our cost. They told her we would have to pay to have the proper Champion/KIA plugs installed. According to MotorCraft, these are the proper spark plugs for her make and model. Will they next be telling me what brand of motor oil to use when I get an oil change? I thought it was illegal to force someone to buy specifically branded parts.
KIA financed a car for me. I mailed in the payments. They are continuously saying that they did not get the payment for 6-15 days. KIA is saying that this is a postal issue. I mail all of my bills and no one else has any problem getting my mail. KIA is saying that they have waived 5 late charges. They have contacted me three times. In September they called, I paid online and they cashed my check the next day before I could cancel it. Therefore, I paid double. Last month they said, You are late but not late enough to be charged a fee. This month they claimed that it took 15 days for them to get my check.
KIA agreed to fix my car which is presumably under warranty. We agreed that they will cover the parts and I will cover the labor at $1,250. After doing the repairs, they are now saying that they will not honor the warranty! This is on top of the disappointment I have had with KIA. I still owe $1,661 on the vehicle and I am so frustrated that they are pulling this! I would have never agreed to having them repair the car, had they not agreed to honor the warranty, as I had a mechanic who is willing to do it at a much more reasonable cost!KIA is a rip off. They are crooks and are not trustworthy! My lawyer will be handling the matter from today; however, this still leaves me without transportation! Today, I will drop one of my classes that require me to travel to a distant campus for lack of transportation. I will most likely lose my job. And in the meantime, my car will sit at the KIA dealership because KIA will not honor the agreement they had with me! Shame, shame, I know your name! The magnet I just ordered to place on my car is in the shape of a lemon and it reads: Ask Me About My Lemon. Its a KIA, dude! Although it will be a while before I am able to drive my 2006 KIA Rio again, I will proudly sport it around town with my new bright yellow accessory added to its both sides. Never would I ever recommend a KIA to anyone I meet! I will tell everyone I know to never ever consider owning a KIA! Lets boycott KIA! I will post on my Facebook account and in other sites, put signs in my yard and give bumper stickers to all of my friends--whatever it takes to make people aware!
I purchased a 2014 Kia Rio with 100 kms on the odo. I work as a service advisor at an auto shop so I knew the ins and outs of maintaining my car, had my car serviced regularly. In June 2016 my check engine light came on and heard clicking from my engine. Then clanking, then my car shut down. I had one of our mechanic to check my car and he said my engine seized. I checked Kia’s website to see if there was any recalls or issues with Kia Rios... There was a recall on 3 other models of Kia for the same issue but my car was not on the list. I called the dealership and they said there was nothing they could do for me because I was 17,000 kms past my warranty. I also called Kia’s head office and they said the same thing and tried to charge me for a new engine. Because I work at a shop I made my own arrangement and had them replace my engine with a used Kia engine with 33,000kms on it. $3,000 and a week later my car was back on the road. The mechanic was curious of the engine issue so he took it apart and saw the pistons broke (which was also the issue for the other Kias) so it’s been less than a year and with being paranoid I made sure my oil changes were done almost monthly. 38,000 kms later here we are again with another seized engine. Had an synthetic oil change done March 6th and April 6th a month to the day clicking coming from my engine. The tech checked the oil level and there was almost no oil in my engine. There was no leak... The techs think it was leaking internally. My pistons are gone yet again. I still owe $12,000 on a car that I can’t drive and Kia will not do anything about this. When I read these forums and other social outlets there are literally hundreds of complaints about these cars for mostly the same reason. I will be taking this higher and to the media if needed. Kia needs to take responsibility for building bad engines and robbing people of their money. This is unacceptable.
I am totally disgusted by your recent commercials advertising Kia cars. I can choose what television shows come into my home but I cant choose the commercials. You shouldnt be allowed to put such crap on TV. I would never buy one of your cars!
So I was driving my car for a errand for my job and I reach my destination which is less than 10 mins from my job. I get back in the car, put it in reverse and the car will not move. I called for roadside, they were wonderful. The wait was a bit long but understandable since it was a Friday. But once I arrive at Braman Kia it was a disaster from there. I arrived Sat 7:55 p.m and they were closing instead of someone saying, Maam we are closing, everyone just rudely walks right past me and cuts off lights and etc. So I leave the car and pass by today to only be told that theres no techs today and that I cant be giving a loaner or told anything until the car is checked and they dont know if it will be checked today. Like seriously how can you not have a tech available, that they only have students today? Like seriously so what happens to your customer? They are just stuck with no means of transportation.
I just wanted to share my story. We bought a 2014 Kia. Shortly after my purchase I discovered I was charged $2100 extra for a service contract (100000 mile warranty). We put a large sum down on the car and would have only owed around $6000. When I checked my paperwork turned out I owed $8000. The dealer had charged me for an extended warranty that I didnt want. So I had to return in person to Cancel after almost two months - the dealer finally sent Kia finance a check for $2100 dollars. So I called Kia finance and ask them to adjust my payments - didnt owe as much money on the car and they told me they would not redo the payments because I agreed to the original payment. I had never heard of anything so asinine in my whole life. Turns out we had to get the car refinanced to lower the payment. What a bunch of rude jerks. They wanted me to pay the same payment on a lower balance!
I took my 2011 Kia Sorento to dealership in Charleston many times many months ago for them to fix my extra key, it would not lock or unlock my car. They never fixed it and finally said I was no longer under warranty!! Now I have problems with warning lights on dashboard and local service rep, not Kia dealer, said it was rear wheel hubs with ABS sensors that needed replacement. He also told me he called Kia dealer and they were backordered with so many orders. He questioned why there was not a recall since there so many people with this problem. Called Kia dealer this morning to check on this and said my warranty expired 6 mos. ago and that it would cost me $1080 for repairs! Why not a recall?
Bought a new Kia Soul six months ago for daughter. The car has rust spots all over back of car. They claim its due to the environment. We had to pay to have it detailed by them. We have bought plenty of cars. Never have we had this type of thing happen. I would never recommend buying Kia. Crap paint and crap company.
Kia Sorento wont start. When I get in the car to start it and push the button, everything on the inside will come on, but the engine wont turn over. I have been stranded 5 times this week, and now the piece of ** is sitting in the parking lot at work and wont start. Sometimes, if I sit there long enough, I can get it started. Several months ago, I could not get it started. I called Kia Emergency rescue and a wrecker driver showed up. He got in the car, pushed on the brake (to the floorboard) 3 times and it started right up. He said that this is a common problem with Kias and that is how you get it started. So - that is what I have been doing, but the problem is just getting worse. Two weeks ago, I was headed out of the office to my daughter in labor, and guess what - it wouldnt start. After about 15 minutes I got it started. I called service at the dealership where it was purchased, and at first they denied it, then the lady on the phone said that Kia was aware of this problem. I asked her why were the consumers not made aware of this. She had no answer. Earlier this week, again it happened. I called Kia direct and filed a complaint and was given a case number. Of course, they deny any knowledge of this problem. They asked me if I wanted the car replaced and I told them yes, but not with a Kia. That didnt go over very well. So on a Saturday, I have to get a ride to my office, pick the piece of ** up and go to the dealership with it. I have already been told they wont give me a loaner car. We will see about that tomorrow. I am very disappointed with this vehicle. Oh yes - the 3rd back up camera is out. This car is only 1 year old. Do not buy Kia. They do not back their product! As soon as I can, this thing will be traded for a more reliable vehicle.
Kia Sorento 2013 SX V6 - Nice vehicle as long as you stay on top of maintenance.
I own a 2013 KIA Rio Ex. I had many problems with the car. I always take it in to get the routine repairs, oil changes, brakes etc. One day on a really cold day my rear brakes locked up on the road (wheels dragging on the road), thankful that it happened on the side road. Had to get it towed to dealership and getting that call to say that it was my problem, cost me 539 dollars to fix and it took them a week to get the parts for the car. Since Feb 2014 I have spent 1400 dollars in repairs with a car still under warranty. It has also has had problem with the UVO system going for a 3rd unit tomorrow. Stay away from KIAs they are garbage.
On 3/21/2014, I purchased a new kia cadenza. Two weeks after purchasing my 2014 kia cadenza, I noticed defect in the paint. I contacted Gossett Motor Cars, where I purchased my new kia. They contacted the corporate office. They buffed my new kia twice, and that was not successful. They then decided to want to paint only half of the car. With purchasing my 2014 kia brand new, I didnt think it was necessary to only paint half the car because this will affect my resale value, and Im totally dissatisfied!
Kia Rio has a rip under the passenger seat where the handle is located to move the seat. Kia calls this a beneficial feature. I call this a defect as it was not listed in the features of my car, was hidden from me, has already separated so food, liquids, bugs, whatever, can get underneath the carpet. After only three weeks, it has separated. The truth is they cheap-ed out and didnt cover it with the same protective plate they put on the Sorento and higher end models and refuse to fix it. Instead of putting a plastic plate on the Rio to protect the carpet, which has already separated and frayed, they chose to spend the money for that feature on a Sirius button that I can pay extra for. It is defective and I dont recommend purchasing a Rio. Only three weeks and already a defect! Unacceptable!
I rear ended a woman, of course on accident but the impact was so hard that I couldnt find my glasses and my chest was hurting. At first not so bad but as this day wears on, it gets worse. I was wondering why the bags did not go off. Had I not been wearing seat belts I know for a fact that my head would have gone through the windshield. Other than that, I really loved that car. It had about close to 100,000 miles on it. I should have taken pictures. It was totaled after all the money I put into it. Very disappointed.
I hope this follow up gets posted also. The car went back again to the dealer Grieco Kia for the Air Conditioner once again. The fuse keeps blowing after replacing the compressor on it. They have had the car since August 22, 2013, and it is now September 1, 2013. They have changed 3 parts on the Air Conditioning system and still, the fuses are blowing and they have driven the car approximately 500 miles of testing our car. They claim that they need to drive the car 100 miles each time they put a new part in. I never heard of such bull. They are doing this so we dont get the car back and bring it back again, because if it goes back 3 or 4 times for the same problem, we can return the car under the Florida Lemon Law. This is why they have not returned our new car to us as of yet. The funny part is that we are making the monthly payments on the car and they Grieco Kia is driving our car all over. The longer this goes on with our new car, the more I am telling people not to buy a Kia or any other brand cars that Grieco Kia sells.
My Kia Soul shifts out of gear and randomly does not start. It makes a buzzing sound at times, too. The Kia has been towed 4 times in 1 year. They suggested that maybe I dont know how to start my car properly (which includes 4 different tow truck drivers that dont know how to start it either!), but Im thinking that thats probably not the problem. Its been in the service shop approx. 15 times since I bought it brand new in September of 2011. Has anyone else had these issues? Fed up in Florida.
I brought a 2012 KIA Sedona 10/2011 and it keeps breaking down - On 5/23/2012, I was riding in traffic and felt a great big jerk, check engine light came on and the speedometer went all the way down. I had to swerve off the the road very quickly because it almost caused an accident. I tried to proceed after swerving onto the side of the road and the van would not go over 10mph. Someone could have been seriously hurt. This is a safety issue. I called Felton Holly Kia and spoke with the automotive manager Dawn. She stated it sounded like the throttle. I then called Kia Roadside Assistance and Dawn called Enterprise for a rental for me. On 5/24/12, Dawn called me to state that they replaced the throttle actuator. I picked my van up after work and left the rental car at the Kia dealership. I also asked Dawn, if this was a recall, then why didnt I receive a letter from the manufacturer? She stated she didnt tell me it was a recall. Actually, I understood her to say recall. She then stated it was a service call for the battery terminal and they replaced the throttle actuator. I then just left the dealership still upset and dissatisfied, but the van ran okay at that moment. On 6/3/12, my van did the same thing it did on 5/23/12, which consisted of riding in traffic, feeling the big jerk and the speedometer went down quickly. I could not get it to get the speed back up. It would not go over 30mph at this point. Kia roadside assistance was called once again on 6/4/12 to tow my van to Felton Holly KIA. I spoke with a gentleman on 6/4/12 (8:10AM) by the name of Peter and told him the problem I was experiencing with my van and that I would need a ride from work. He stated okay, they would take a look at my van to see what was going on. I never heard from anyone at Felton Holly KIA so I decided to call at 1:24PM (6/4/12) and I spoke with Dawn, who stated they still were not aware what was wrong and the maintenance personnel had gone to lunch, but would return in 15 minutes. I waited and then 2:38-2:40PM, Dawn called to state that they were replacing the pedal on my van. She stated this was all related to the same issue. I asked, how could that be if you replaced the throttle actuator? She stated she never stated the throttle actuator was replaced, but that they put the new computer information in my van, which was never put in. I stated, you never said that and she said she did. I just started jotting down what was being said by her. Dawn asked, was I aware how PCs worked when they install the new information? I stated no, so she called herself explaining it. She stated that my 2012 van did not have the new computer information, but it had the old information so they input this information in on the 5/23/12 incident. I feel like the information is being given and turned around once I repeat to them what they previously have told me. This is very frustrating. It seems like they are guessing about what is wrong and the real issue is not being resolved. I need help on how to handle this situation so I can utilize my options.
Engine recall with a 3 - 5 month wait according to Fucillo Kia. My first issue with my 2017 Kia Sorento was on 9/18/18 when my A/C stopped working and the engine overheated. I brought the vehicle to my dealer. I was informed the head gasket needed to be replaced. It was fine for four months until 1/18/19 when the heater stopped working. I took it to my dealer and then they determined that I needed a new engine. I later found out by the technicians at my dealership that they had 40 vehicles of different models needed new engines. They told me that Hyundai is having the same problems. They had no loaner cars for me so I was drivien to a Hertz rental up the road by a dealer rep. The dealer said the policy of Kia motors allowed to drive the smallest car Hertz had on their lot. It was a Nissan Accent which is smallest car Nissan makes. So basically I’m paying $395 a month for an All Wheel Drive SUV and I get a vehicle that isn’t even close something comparable to what I’m leasing. I’m also in the last year of the lease and I won’t have my car for 3 - 5 months. The dealer won’t let me out of the lease but I have to keep paying for it! I was towed out of my own driveway with only 2 inches of snow on the ground. I’ve filed a consumer Fraud case with the NYS Attorney General’s Office. Nobody at the dealer will help me and the Consumer Affairs Dept at Kia Motors will help either. I’m so disgusted and frustrated. I will never recommend a Kia or Hyundai again.
The doors have been stuck open several times, which really sort of puts a damper on long trips. It is a severe safety issue. I have manual doors, and we have it towed when this happens. But they insist there was no latch issue, even though weve had multiple failings. (Our neighbor with power doors has had them open sporadically while traveling 70 mph with kids in the back!)Further, I have to change the headlights (both, and both high/low beams) quarterly, because the alternator doesnt regulate the voltage well and you can actually see the lights getting brighter/dimmer. They blow out fast, and I have been stopped by police no less than six times (three with fix-it tickets where I have to take it back in the next day and show them its been fixed).I also had to pay for new power steering hoses because of squeaking. Fairly costly. The latest is my breaks slip regularly, and ABS is not covered under not a warranty repair. Why brag up ABS if the brakes dont work at all? ?
I have never experienced customer service this terrible in my entire life. I have been given a defective vehicle, the dealerships wont help me, Kia Corporate wont help me, and I have been try to get someone to look at my car FOR OVER A YEAR!!! This is by far the worst experience when purchasing a car and I was given a lemon. I have kept track of my 2021 Seltos mileage and I get no more than 18 mpg IN A SELTOS!!!! I have made countless attempts to contact KIA for help and they have not once given me any option or even offered to check my car. I have letter and emails and even tried going to the BBB and no one NO ONE has ever bothered to help me.
I bought a Kia Rio 2010. It only had 50,000 km on it. It was a standard and the first month I bought it, the entire transmission had to be replaced. Then the radio would stop working or my lights would not turn off. My brakes made a screeching sound since day one. Then on September 2nd, 2013, I had a car accident and rear ended a truck and totaled my car. Not one air bag imploded and as a result, I had a concoction and lost consciousness. Not one lawyer in Toronto wants to take my case and Kia has done nothing to help me out or the car insurance.
2004 Kia Sorento with 60,000 miles. The left rear axle bracket has rusted through and broken. This is a very serious safety issue. The design and manufacture of this particular part is defective.
My car was booked in for a noise in the engine on 3rd Nov 2015. Heard nothing for 2 days even after leaving numerous messages as the lady dealing with it was either away from her desk, on a call or busy with other clients. Eventually got a call late Wednesday afternoon advising that they needed to strip the crankshaft which would cost R2300.00. I advised that I would check with my husband and call them back. When attempting to call them back late Wed afternoon no one answered the phone. I then received a call Thursday pm to confirm that could go ahead with the job. I confirmed it was okay. I heard nothing on Friday and when phoning Friday pm, none of my calls were returned. By now I was extremely peed off. I eventually got my husband to go to Kia Tokai to check on the progress of my vehicle. When he arrived the ladys attitude was, Why have you come to see your vehicle? He was then shown the problem with the vehicle and the mechanic explained what needed to be done, we were offered 2 options costing R3700 or R20 000. We agreed to the R3700. Were then told the parts could only be ordered from JHB on the Monday 9th. We then received no update on our car at all. I then tried to speak to the manager of Kia Tokai who was in a meeting when I called at 9 am on Thursday. 12th Nov. I called throughout the morning and left 3 messages in total. He never returned any of my calls. Eventually the service manager called me to enquire what my complaint was. I explained the whole story to him and he was going to check on my car and call me back. Surprise, surprise he did not call back. I eventually called him again at 3:30 pm. This is what I was then told: yes the part had arrived but did I not know that it can take 3-4 days for a part to arrive? How would I know this? They now need to check if the part is compatible with my vehicle, come on, get real. Do you not know what part to order? I must be patient and wait because while my car has been at their workshop they have booked other cars in as well which will be worked on first, dont I realise that the job on my car is a big one. How would I know this, I am not a mechanic. Am I not a client? Are some clients given special treatment? Yes my car is not under warranty anymore (was bought from this branch in April 2012) but I am a paying customer. By this time I was fed up and asked to speak to the manager again. I was put through to reception, who advised me to pls hold as he was on a call. I was placed on hold 3 times. The service manager then came onto the phone saying the manager was in a meeting and if my car could not be fixed by close of business Friday 13th then they would organise a car for me to use. What rubbish! I feel that I was put on hold so that the service manager could speak to the manager first. Was he really on a call or in a meeting because reception says his on a call and the service manager says he is in a meeting. What kind of manager does not take responsibility for his workshop and staff?Yes I understand that parts come from JHB, yes I understand that some jobs take time, but is it not possible for a person to keep a client updated as to what is happening to their car especially if it takes 11 days without a result. It is now 2:30 pm on Friday 13th November and to date no car, no call! Would never take my car back there again (if & when I get it back). Would never recommend Kia Tokai to anyone as I would not want them to have to endure such incompetence.
After my 2016 Sorento stopped shifting out of park. It was towed 3 hrs to the closest dealership. I was told there was a rental vehicle reserved and covered in a neighboring town. After leaving work and getting a ride to pick it up I was called the next morning being told there was a mistake and the car had to be returned that afternoon or else I would be charged. I once again left work early to race up and get it returned before closing. The next day I was told that there were gas charges to paid on my end. To which I explained that I would have never picked up the car that was in my position for less then 24hr and was only driven from budget to my house and back if I wasn’t told to! After calling Kia Canada to see what could be done I finally received a call back 3 days later with a “sorry but there nothing we can do”. A week goes by and my car is now worse then it was with a secondary part now backorder. They say I can get another rental. But they will only pay for a tiny hatchback this time. This was after hours on hold, speaking to different agents who kept passing me back to Elliot the first agent I dealt with, who kept not returning my phone calls again!!! He then told me my remote living and size of family does not matter to him, Kia offers to help but do not have to do anything for me. I was laughed at when I said I was upset and asked to have my call return ASAP. Worse customer service ever!!! Although I have enjoyed my car up until this point it is not worth the dealing with such a horrible company. I am getting rid of my car immediately and I would never recommend to anyone to buy a Kia.
I leased a 2019 Stinger GT after turning in my Optima a year early. I leased the car on 12/18/18. Within the first 30 days my rear defroster made a popping noise and shorted out. I took it back to the dealership and they supposedly fixed the issue. On May 14th on my way into work the car made the same noise. I called the dealership to have it looked at again. I got into my car after work, within a few minutes I could smell smoke and pulled over on the side of the highway. I opened the hatchback to see the rear defroster compartment melted away and then flames shot out of the hole. Within 4 minutes the car burned down to the frame. A formal investigation was completed with my insurance company, Kia, and the NHTSA.Kia accepted responsibility for the fire. They bought the car back from the insurance to hide a fatal flaw in the car. After weeks of failing to return numerous calls and emails to Kia attempting to understand what the next steps are, we finally received a call stating that they were willing to reimburse us for the contents in the car- WHICH THEY HAVE to do. After several more phone calls and emails, a supposed manager named Jeff **. contacted us (of course they have no email address, last name or phone number). After going back and forth he offered to refund us the $2000 we put down on the car only 5 months earlier stating it was the cost of ownership! After asking we found out that if we accepted, we would have signed off our rights to any future actions. The fire department told me the only thing that saved my life was that I can a full tank of gas so it did not blow cause of the lack of fumes. I was minutes away from picking my 6 year old daughter from school. The fire started right under where her booster seat was. Do not buy this car as it can easily kill you.
Multiple Issues on 2004 Sedona - Lets see where to begin. I bought it new for $15k. Well equipped with lots of stuff standard. I suppose this lures most people in along with the 100k warranty. Within the first 1,000 miles, the starter went out. Infamous brake issues started around 12k. We have replaced the rotors on it three times and getting ready to do the 4th set this week. The vehicle currently has 100,600 miles. The AC capacitor went out at 59k, just under the 60k bumper to bumper expiring, so we got that repaired for nothing. The starter went out again around 70k and that cost $300.00. Wheel bearing have been replaced. A compressor went out around 80k and that cost $400.00. The climate control distribution doors dont open, so air barely blows into the compartment. Rear climate control hasnt worked for years. The coolant lines that run back to the rear unit literally rusted through and the mechanic had to plug the lines and route it so rear climate control isnt even possible. The rear brakes didnt seem to be working, so I took it to a mechanic who pulled the drums and said the shoes hardly looked worn and that the entire rear system had probably been hung up/frozen for years. He tried to free them up and thought he did, but I still dont think they are engaging. Thermostat has been replaced 2 or 3 times and I believe the water pump once. Its very heavy and gets terrible gas mileage, 18-20 miles/gal. I will say, knock on wood, that so far, the drive train has been solid. We have taken it on several long distance trips and have been very fortunate to have not had any problems on the road other than wondering if the brakes would fail at any moment, sweating in the backseats and hoping it wouldnt overheat. Other than that, it has been great!
My used 2003 Kia Spectra had three separate sudden accelerations while I was moving across the country. During these incidents, the brakes failed to work. After these incidents, all within days of each other, I started making phone calls to Kia. They told me they would connect me with an agent in their National Consumer Affairs office. I have been trying to contact this office for more than a month now and no one answers or seems to care.
Disappointed customer. I thought I was making a smart choice when I bought my used 2011 Kia Sorrento (Liberty Ford) boy was I wrong. The reason for the purchase I needed a reliable car as I drive 500 miles a week from home to work and with Kia having a 10 year 100k mile warranty and the car only having 70k miles on was to me at the time a no brainer. I had the car a little over a year and the engine went. I did purchase the extended warranty from Liberty but because it was a Kia they could not work on it and sent it to Bedford Kia for inspection. After numerous phone calls and even an in-person visit, they had my car for 52 days before it was fixed and returned to me. They put in a new/used engine that had at the time 65k miles on it so I thought once again I was in good shape, well I was wrong again. This engine lasted 11 months and 22k miles and because I was over the miles, I was told in not so many words - sucks to be you right now, you will have to foot this bill. I also want to note this engine quit on me as I was slowing down for an accident that was on the freeway. I was going about 60mph at the time, tapped the brakes to slow down and the engine quit. I had to limp the car from the high speed lane to the berm with no power, it was a very dangerous situation at the time. I am just trying to understand as a customer that had 2 bad engines where the accountability as a manufacturer is? I do understand warranties but all I was looking for was someone to say we understand and give me some kind of help. I wasn’t looking for Kia to pay the entire bill but 2 engine failures engines that only made it to around 80k that were not my fault some help would have been nice. All toll right now I have around $6.200 invested back in a car I only paid $7,400 for. As a single father of 6 working 2 jobs this was a bill I did not need. With all this being said I would like to thank my mechanic at Done-Rite Auto who treated me as a person first and a customer second by cutting his price on labor and parts and had the car fixed in 3 days as opposed to the 52 it took Kia to fix it.
I bought a new 2012 Kia Sorento V6 a few months ago. The next morning at start up, the engine was very noisy. I found that when it sat for about an hour, the timing chain raps for about 5-10 seconds, very loud. I brought it back. They said they cant do anything, its normal. Well, thats just not true. No engine raps are normal. I contacted Kia company, went back and forth. Finally, I got a letter from them and they told me, too bad, feel free to sue us; we will not fix the engine.
I purchased a Kia Spectra from Enterprise Car Sales in Rockville Center NY. The first week of purchase, the car died. I come to find out it was the alternator. Enterprise/Kia Auto World at 2520 Hempstead Tpke East Meadow NY 11554 (mechanic: Rich; contact person: Jamie), replaced the alternator. Nine months later, the alternator goes again. The car was taken to Hillside Kia 153 12 Hillside Ave., Jamaica NY 11432. THEY replaced the alternator. Nine months later, the alternator went again and I took the car to a mechanic on Merrick Blvd. on 109 St. Jamaica, NY because it was out of the warranty and AGAIN the alternator was replaced. Today 8/23/11, the alternator went again. I felt that the car that was sold to me from the start was a lemon and I was looking to pay this car off BUT now i feel that I have been taken advantaged of as a consumer and I am looking for assistance as a consumer from your agency.
I was driving my car and the engine failed. It ignited on fire and was Total-ed. The fire department and police came and put the fire out. I filed a claim on the day of the accident (August 18) with my insurance company that I have progressive insurance with. They have consistently lied to me and will not give me answers. All I am told is that they are still investigating and keep telling me that they will find something out. It just never happens.Because of this, I dont have a car to use since the incident and this has caused me real stress. My car is under warranty so I need someone to help me out.
My Kia Sorento 2011 had 59,*** miles on it and it jerks when it shifts at 2nd and 4th gear. I brought it to Jerry Seiner Kia in Salt Lake for service. I told them the prob and I have a strong feeling its the transmission. They tested it and said there is nothing wrong. I just need to change the transmission oil which would cost over $200 since warranty would not cover it cause its for maintenance. They also reset the computer box because accdg to them, it saved the driving pattern of the previous owner so they had to reset it. I brought the car to a different place for the oil change. On my way home, the car still jerks when it shifts. Called Kia and they said wait a couple of days and reiterated that Kia has different engine so it runs and shifts differently from other cars. Waited 2 days and cars still jerks when it shifts. Called back Kia and schedule an appointment. This time the car is on 60k miles but they said theyll honor the warranty since I brought it with the issue before it hit 60k. So they did tests on it and they said they will file a case with Kia and see what Kia says. Kia recommended things to be done but they wont change the transmission. It became a regular routine to go to Kia every Tues or Wed for 2 months (imagine all the gas I spent going back and forth since the dealership is 24 miles away from my home.) Prob started in Dec. and last week of January they decided to change the computer box. It kind of run smooth for 3 weeks until it starts jerking again and now when it shifts to 4th gear. Brought it back to Kia and the service manager specifically said, There is something wrong with the transmission. We need to make a case for Kia to approve transmission change. So I told him I wanna make sure its still under warranty although its now on 62k miles since I first brought it with the same prob before it hit 60k. He said hell try his best since we have all the records. I waited almost a week for Kias reply again, and this time they want to reset something again but it will not be covered with the warranty since its now over 60! It is just ridiculous that I brought it with exactly the same prob before it hit the 60k miles! And I go back and forth to the service dept for 2 mos which is 24 miles away, of course the mileage will add up! And now they wont cover the warranty! Imagine, before it hit 60k miles, tranny probs already! Ridiculous! Will never ever buy a Kia car again! Warranty is BS. Worst car ever! Waste of money!
I have a brand new Kia Sorento 2012. About one month ago, my car suddenly stopped when I stopped at a stop sign. Fortunately, I could restart the engine again. I went to a Kia dealer service center to report it. They could not find any cause. Yesterday, it happened again. My car suddenly stopped when I slowed down and pushed the brake at a stop sign. I am getting scarred about this sudden stop. Anybody knows what causes this problem?
Kia 2013 Optima Hybrid: 7/17/2015 - Drivers side rear passenger tire blowout on 405 freeway, exit 18. 7am, Costco Fountain Valley, had air pressure check. Got on the freeway and had a blowout. I rotate tires and have tires inspected every 6 months. I have about 28k mileage, the tire was rated 9 on inspection. I was very upset because I nearly got killed if not for the kindness of this lady who blocked traffic and escorted me to the shoulder. The previous week, I had my car inspected and I had a slow leak on the side. The Kia dealer suggested I replace the tire. First blow out, I manage to get car to Pep Boys and got a replacement tire. To my horror, I found out I did not have a spare tire. The blow up patch was useless. I asked Pep Boy what was the cause. They said NO nails or apparent cause. I replace tires with same type. I thought it was ODD that a new tire on a new car would blow up (I purchased my Kia Feb 2014). In less than a year, I had to replace a tire. When 2nd tire blow out happened, I decided to replace all four tires with Bridgestone. I dont know about you but replacing 3/4 tires on a relatively new car is unheard of in all my years of driving. I have had tires lasting me 70-75 miles. The shredded tires fell apart around the whole seam of the car in inner circle just above the rims.
I purchased a 2013 Kia Sorento in mid-2012. We love the model and its features; however, the car has less than 12,000 miles on it and its making us question the quality of the electronics installed in the brand. The electronic throttle control has now failed twice on my wife while heading to work. I mean, a total failure in rush hour traffic no less! It is a major safety related issue and KIA needs to man up and get it right. So far, however, Coleman KIA in Ewing, New Jersey has been anything but zealous, accommodating or attentive in this matter. IMO, Their 1st attempt at a fix was a software REBOOT/ UPDATE.This morning, it happened again (6 days later), again displaying a CEL/MIL and entering limp mode (correlating code P0638, 2nd time) along with 0 throttle response, on the interstate no less! My wife was fortunate enough to be able to coast it into the breakdown lane and restart it, though in limp mode. These incidents have put my family at great risk. Im not happy about this at all and can only wring my hands as I prepare for the We cleaned the throttle body again, statement noted on the service ticket. Make no bones, KIA. I will not hesitate to litigate if any harm befalls me or mine because of this. I just hope you got it right this time. If I have to apply for a lemon reimbursement and head for another brand, so be it. Right now though, I just pray you dont kill us all with unreliable electronics/build quality.
This vehicle has had over 20 major repairs and/or factory recalls in less than 60k miles at over $20,000.00 at retail. The problems are still there and they refused to resolve the issues during the last year of the warranty. I hired a lawyer and was paid for my inconveniences along with a promise in writing to repair the issues. I took it to a dealer and the factory Kia Service rep refused to inspect the vehicle. Paul ** is the National service manager and a pathological liar. This vehicle (and many other Kias) were given the lowest rating ever by J.D. Power and associates. In other words, they make very poor vehicles, using the cheapest of materials, and refuse to honor the written warranty. I am forwarding a substantial file to senior executive managers shortly to ensure that they are aware of the policy practices of staff like Paul, who is orchestrating fraud, with intent. This will also ensure the company cannot claim ignorance of the behavior of a rogue employee. It is clear this company is committing fraud on a massive scale and is well aware of this. Interestingly, Hyundai behaved in the same fashion, about 15/20 years ago, and were almost bankrupt as a result of consumer backlash. All the execs and directors were eventually fired. It is time for the same to happen to Kia execs. Hyundai owns the majority of Kia shares. It should be noted that Kia recalled 146,000 vehicles last years for airbags which did not work. My vehicle eventually got a similar recall (not included in the large recall). Kia and its dealers were aware of the airbag issues but refused to act upon it until they were forced to do so. In other words, they are responsible for possible deaths and/or serious injury to many people who trusted this company to behave ethically. They do not. They were aware of the airbag issues years before the recall was forced upon them. We need to start a large program to warn the world of this companys willingness to defraud and to injure without concern. If everyone starts talking on social media about the phony warranty and the inherent problems of all Kias - we will bring them to their knees - where they belong.
I purchased a Kia Sorento back in 03 and have always taken my car for major services to the same dealer since. Recently, my car has had a vibration on acceleration and runs sluggish. There is a rattle on acceleration as well. To make my story short, I took it to the dealer and they checked it out and told me it needed spark plugs and wires replaced to a sum of $469.00. I got it done. A week later, I was having the same problem. I made another appointment. They checked it again and said it needed coils to the sum of $444.00. I asked if this will take care of the problem. They said yes. Today, 4/9/12, my car was towed to the dealer: same problem, only worse! The dealer said they will check again, but they will not cover the fix if it is something else. I told them that’s what they told me that was wrong; therefore, I am not paying one more cent!
My air bag light came on while driving so I took it to the dealer. I was informed the sensor was bad on the track on the passenger side and had to be replaced. None of my airbags works due to this problem. It is going to cost me over $600 to fix this because my extended warranty does not cover it and I am 5,000 miles over 60,000 miles or it would have been covered. Are they serious? My extended warranty they sold me is not even with Kia. Something is seriously wrong and I think Kia should be checked on this air bag issue also.
I brought my 2009 Kia to the dealership for a free upgrade on the covers for the back of the rear seats. And they also completed a free ECM upgrade according to Kias recommendations, without consulting me before doing so because Kia states that they have the right to do any and all upgrades without asking the owner of the vehicle while the vehicle is on their property and being serviced. I wouldnt have stopped them before or after, why should I, any free upgrade for my vehicle is great... but about a week or so later, my transmission started jerking when the automatic transmission downshifted from 2nd gear to 1st gear. I brought it back to the dealer and they said that since there were no warning lights or codes for the problem, they didnt know what to do. So they waited for info from their tech line. Time went by so I made an appointment for them to check my transmission fluid level again. Being it’s a sealed transmission, I am not qualified to check it and according to Kia Corporation, this transmission fluid in the V-8 is Lifetime, no regular changing is needed. The fluid costs around $80 a quart!!!!! Really???I brought my Kia Borrego to the dealer for the appt to check the transmission fluid level and the service manager said that they couldnt check the level until I prepaid for a couple of quarts of fluid due to the high price of it per quart and also that they didnt have any at the dealership and would have to special order it and receive the fluid before they checked the transmission fluid level. Im fuming! So, I politely with a smile showed the service manager their maintenance service checklist that they performed on my vehicle when they did the ECM upgrade. On it, it says that they checked all fluid levels and checked my transmission fluid level and it was signed. The service manager quickly declined saying they couldnt check it and didnt check it. So they were falsifying documents by saying that they did but now they dont. A few days later I made an appointment to talk to the Owner of the dealership. And after a bunch of defying belief of my issue, he supposedly bypassed the service manager and asked the mechanic directly if he checked the fluid and the answer was yes. Hmm, as for the hard jerking of the transmission, the Owner says that that is normal, most Kia vehicles downshift hard. He said that his Kia downshifts hard!! Its getting deeper. So I brought my Kia to a different dealership in a different city and their solution, remove the transmission and a used transmission was installed due to my extended warranty outside of Kia. A few months later, the hard downshifting starts again, mostly when the motor is cold, not from the weather, just after setting for a while. I brought it back to that dealership and they reset it back to its norm and made it worse. Now it’s doing the hard jerking all the time at the 2 to 1 downshift. From the get go, I told both dealerships and warranty people my thoughts and I blamed it on the ECM upgrade. Why would two transmissions give me that same problem?? My original transmission had around 90,000 miles. The used one had 30,000 miles. Ive put over 4,000 miles on the used one. Im waiting on answers from the second dealership on how they plan to correct this problem again. Im tired of all of this. I want my vehicle repaired correctly. I have an extended warranty up to 100,000 miles and a 1 year warranty on the used transmission that is in the Kia Borrego now. Any ideas or help will be greatly appreciated.
I bought a Kia Picanto with registration no. ** from Princess Crossing Franchise in Roodepoort, Gauteng on July 21, 2011. Up to date, I didnt receive the service booklet of the vehicle. Wayne **, the sales representative, promised on numerous occasions that in two weeks time I will have the booklet and that he didnt receive it from head office yet. I am a very proud owner of the Kia Picanto. And I want to keep the service schedule up to date. Can something small like a booklet turn into an issue? Please assist me.
I took my Soul to Kia due to a screeching noise in the front while braking thinking there may be a stone stuck in the pad. Come to find out the rotors had rusted in the front only to the point that they were pitted. I bought the car a few months prior from an independent dealer and the Kia dealer said that the car must have sat for a while but they were not sure. Thus is just conjecture on their part. They said the rotors were not covered because the warranty does not cover rust. They recommended that I call Kia corporate and see if they will make an exception. I called and was treated poorly by Robin, a supervisor, but after an exercise in patience she agreed to escalate the issue to the district service manager. It has been 3 working days and I am still waiting to hear back from them. I had to take it back so they could get pictures of the rotors over the weekend. The funny thing is that rotors on the rear are fine which makes no sense unless poor rotor quality or substandard design with the front brake system. The service department says that the district service manager will likely approve it but it can take another day or two and it will take more time to get the parts in. Meanwhile I am driving a car that the front brakes sound terrible and I feel unsafe driving. Very poor customer service and quality.
Kia Optima Hybrid Engine - We were driving home from something on Mothers Day and the car made a loud sound and the engine stopped running. It threw a rod and ruined the engine. Kia now is saying that this is not covered under warranty because the car had the wrong oil filter and was not getting adequate oil in the engine. Havoline says that this is not the case and that it is the proper filter. In addition, even if there were an issue with the filter clogging, it would bypass the filter and oil would still flow. I have done nothing wrong but now I am in a fight. It looks like Kia is trying to just make an excuse instead of actually honoring their warranty responsibility.
As a Kia owner and supporter of the rejuvenated products and brands, I had to tell you about my experiences that are still on-going with the dealer and service franchisees/network that Kia seem to be straddled with.On July 13, I brought my car in to City World Kia in the Bronx, which, in and of itself, was a nightmare. You see, the greater New York Metro area has very few dealers to choose from and those that are members of your network are very suspect at best and downright dishonest and awful in reality.Having called Jason at customer service (Kia USA), it was clear he could only be limited in his effectiveness as he constantly and repeatedly told me that the dealers were independent and that Kia USA could not directly get involved to help the service process along. This was seven days into leaving my car there without even a call or return about my inquiries. That was very frustrating since it is in Kias best interest to make sure that their dealer and service network are not only trained well, but also provide the best service that they can as competition, as you know, is fierce.Unfortunately, Jason (of Kia USA Customer Service) didnt follow-up after I asked him if I could pass along my frustrations to the district manager (who he said was not available to the public) and we ended the call with him giving me an ID # 28-2003701. No call or any updates as he was ignored by City World KIA as well. All he could say was, sorry Mr. ** and Ill do what I can, which is nothing. I also talked to Kathryn ** at the corporate office and Crystal **, who closed my case after she did nothing to get my car fixed. This, in and of itself, was the most insulting since she ignored four phone calls that I made. When I called Justina, another service representative, just to speak to someone on August 17, she, at least, called me back twice to tell me she had to send the case to the executive level because it was closed by Crystal (after Jason gave it to executive, he didnt and couldnt do anything). Amazed, shocked and insulted -- my car still wasnt fixed. So why should I get frustrated if my Borrego was lost at City World for a week? Why should I be upset that Kia USA did absolutely nothing to move my car along after I took it out of City World Kia and after they finally found it (yes, they lost it)? Why then should I be insulted and feel demeaned after Lash Kia couldnt provide a loaner car because I waited a month to have them get some parts in to do the work? It has been three days and I am still waiting for Lash Kia to finish their work on the Borrego. And when I talked to David, the service associate who I originally spoke with about my horrifying experience with City World KIA, he was upset and was correcting me that I have to wait to get the additional parts in. Do they think at Kia that their customers dont need their cars? Do they treat all of their customers like this? So, I found myself waiting with no car despite giving Lash Kia a month to get the recall parts and do the work they needed to do. Afterwards, they told me that the car and the issues Ive raised (and youll love this) are operating within manufacturers parameters. I was told that the 4WD hang up sometimes when it is engaged and does the same thing when you want to disengage it. What? Are they kidding? So, after over a month of waiting and fixing the delaminated rotors myself for safety reasons, I am treated like an imbecile. Kia USA ignored me despite my sending emails to six of their executives and being promised a promotion for my troubles. Wow! I wonder if the head office in South Korea is aware of the poor level of service and treatment of their customers in North America. Each time, I had to call the service department and they were upset with me whenever I inquired as to the status of the car. With City World, I called after four days and I was not able to speak with Nick, a service technician who was supposedly fired, until the end of that first week. Moreover, the claim by Carlos, the service manager, was that they were busy and I had nine items to check. But then again, I found out that the special technician was out of town until the end of the week. The same thing happened at Lash when a seemingly competent Tania ** went on vacation while my car was with them. Only after I called three times did I get David to call me back to tell me they were waiting for another part despite me trying to avoid leaving my car at another dealership for three more days without any notice or update. On the basis that the service options for Kia automobiles are so restricted in this area to ramshackle chop shops, their on-line service appointment system was a complete waste as the request and ensuing specifics about why I was bringing the car in was not even received by City World. Its something of a phishing feature and, yes, this is something that Kia should be concerned about. How can Kia USA ignore an area with 16 million people? Had I been working for Kia, I would make every effort to get new licensees with state-of-the-art service centers, show rooms, and sales and service people that can, at least, spell! Ive owned Hondas, Acuras, Mercedes-Benz, Mazdas and BMWs over the years and not once have I been so blown away by the complete incompetence, indifference, filth, poor service, etc. by the Kia brand. My bottom line is that Kia needs desperately to upgrade all of the areas I mentioned and Id be happy to stay with them because I am thrilled by the renaissance over the years from the disastrous Hyundai Pony of the 80s to the thrilling designs and engineering of the line-up today. Unfortunately, the dealer and service network is so wanting and deficient that Kia will lose sales on that basis alone which is truly a shame! As for my poor car, I brought it in for the following reasons: Service Campaign CS005 (rear seat carpet replacements), defective windshield washer motor, defective hatch-rear light, wheezing and clunky CD player, popping and knocking sound under the passenger seat, slow-shifting transmission, 4WD that gets stuck in low (requiring a reboot by shutting off the car and rolling it), front brakes that have either got warped or delaminating rotors causing serious vibration, a possible leak in the fluid, and poor suspension which causes the vehicle to hop and jump over road seems and bumps. I understand that it is a truck-tuned suspension, but it is unsafe to corner with the Borrego because of the serious steering issues when hitting any bumps at all. I neglected to tell them about the inside weather seals that are dropping off and that need to be reset on all four doors, but hey, I just wanted them to deal with the safety issues. Oh, and I asked about how to clean the cloth seats and all I got was a comment to use regular upholstery cleaner. Gee, thanks, considering that they are staining so easily, that my daughters damp swimsuits left water stains on all of the seats in the back. Great quality! Considering the service so far (or total lack thereof), I dont expect anything and absolutely will never buy a Kia or recommend one again. In fact, what Kia has done (especially Kia USAs total lack of interest in assisting me with their independent dealer network and their promises that were left unfilled) is that instead of bringing a customer back in the fold, they have created an absolutely incensed customer who will use every opportunity to enlighten anyone about the dealer network and the corporate reality of Kia USA as a paper kitten when dealing with their dealers and their customers. As it is, I had to drive some 12 miles from my home to get bounced from the dealership to the service area because I couldnt bring myself to go to the Yonkers location. No communication from Jason or anyone as they close the files regardless if the case was resolved or not. The reason that major corporations run into significant problems is that their field experts do not have the ability to end licensees relationships, or just decide not to, simply because they are selling cars. Imagine how many more they would sell if they did not have dealerships like City World Auto, Yonkers Kia, the fraudsters at Major World and Nemet (who tried to bait and switch me, posting cars they didnt have on-line), and Smithtown Kia.Right now, I am sitting, waiting and expecting for a call. I would likely get some huge bill with nothing covered under the warranty despite the car having only 32,000 miles on it. I shudder to think how much more effort Ill have to make to get my car back without any damage being done to it. Can Kia USA help? No. Hopefully, this letter will shake up the district managers and their managers. Kia might sell even more cars and create happy, grateful repeat customers! I, unfortunately, will never be one of them.
I recently posted a negative review about Kia service regarding sloppy work during an oil change. The manager did reach out to me to correct the situation though. Like I said in my original post I normally have excellent service with them. This was a one-time mishap that they did correct. I would continue to recommend Kia to people.
Took my car to Kia East Syracuse for warranty service. Was told car needed to be kept overnight while they waited for a part. Was called next day. Salesman stated following: “Hi Rose, we just found out your part won’t be in until the first week in October, and your lease happens to end the first week in October. Why dont you come in and get a new lease vehicle. I stated I would not be purchasing a new vehicle. The service department is stating they dont have a loaner car for me, they want me to go almost three weeks without a vehicle. I contacted Kia Corporate and they state that they cant help, since the dealer is claiming they dont have a car they can offer as a loaner. They stated they could possibly rent me a car, but they need a manager to authorize and that takes 48 hours. Ive never heard of a car company doing warranty work on a car where the part takes 3 weeks to procure and will not offer a loaner car to drive. Not the happy Kia experience I see in their commercials. Won’t buy another Kia and neither will my family members unless they can make this right.
05 Sorento - Ive replaced the crankshaft sensor twice now, and its not in need of a 3rd sensor. The dealership says its out of warranty since it is 4 months past the 12-month date. Ive also replaced the transmission once, the headlights 6 times, the ball joints twice, & I still have vibrations in the rear end from the transmission! Ive contacted consumer affairs (which did nothing); they gave me a complaint number and said thanks. Ive filed a complaint with BBB, and now I am not sure what to do with this POS car.
In January 2008, I bought a 2007 KIA Spectra from Kia Brampton, with a 5-year or 100,000-km. warranty. All went well until December 26, 2012 when the vehicle was at 99,950 km. The oil light started to come on and off. It was towed to KIA Brampton where they declared the vehicle okay but proceeded to empty the oil and place clean oil therein. I was told to return the vehicle every week for check up which I did every week until March when KIA finally confirmed that the vehicle did have problem. Then they told me they will contact me after they get in touch with KIA Canada. In March, they took in the vehicle and claimed to change the rings, which they assumed was the problem. However, within two weeks, the same problem resurfaced and I took back the vehicle to KIA Brampton. The car was checked and we were told by the Service Manager that the change of the ring was a goodwill gesture and the warranty has expired and in general, when vehicles reach the end of the warranty, KIA seems to think that people want to con them to recondition the engine and hence they would not be able to help us. KIA Brampton recommended that we contact KIA Canada re the problem.I contacted KIA Canada about the problem and was told by the Customer Service representative, Malia, on May 24, 2013 that the KIA could not assist me because the vehicle has passed its warranty period. I refuted this of course on the basis that the problem with the vehicle was detected before the warranty period expired. I asked to speak to a supervisor and after being put on hold for 15 minutes, I was told that the Supervisor was busy and but will contact me within 24 hours. On Wednesday, May 29, 2013, I finally received a call from a Sandy from KIA Canada about the matter. I again requested that KIA honor the warranty and fix the vehicle. Sandy said she had nothing to add to what Malia told me because KIA Brampton fixed the problem in March based on their diagnosis and now that the car is over the warranty period, KIA is not responsible for any repairs.
Purchased a car, went to pick it up and close the deal. Said the car was moved offsite, they could not find it. Then they found it but could not start it, it was the battery, no then it was the fuel pump. They bring up a higher priced model and said take it or leave it. I had to have a car, they knew it. Then hidden in the lease and never disclosed is a $400 termination fee. I argue, they say they never disclose this after all it is 3 years away. Arrogant and unprofessional, might as well have been on a used car lot with bare light bulbs shining. Three letters and many phone calls to the owners, not a return - nothing. How about I am sorry. Stay away from this dealer.
If you get a traffic violation from and camera- beware. KIA will get the notice and will hold it for weeks, then will pay it for you with all the added penalties and then charge. I had several violations because of a bad transponder. If KIA would have just sent me the notice I could have easily taken care of it for $2 or $4. Instead they withheld the notices, paid it after 6 weeks of when it was issued, sent me the bill to pay them and threatened my immaculate credit when I objected. Filed a complaint with Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which was a waste of time. Will never deal with KIA in any capacity ever again. Even the owner of the dealership said they were jerks to deal with!
I have had my car in the dealership on several occasion. I have a 2014 Kia Cadenza. A very elegant car but it is misfiring and it vibrates like crazy on a cold start and a hot start. The service advisor is always nice and polite. But the service on my vehicle is horrible. Kia knows my vehicle is misfiring and vibrating like crazy its to the point where it Im moving in the car too it vibrates so bad. I work for a Kia dealership and if Kia tech will do me like this they would do anyone like this. I would not recommend anyone to purchase a Kia Cadenza. They are garbage. They look good on the outside but rotten on the outside. And I know they are trying to wait until my warranty go out so I would have to face this problem myself.
Brand new 2017 Kia Sorento top of the line. MSRP 51k I leased this junk, thank god too! I woke up today ready for work and when I went to start this junk, it wouldnt start. I had to call Kia roadside asst. Here is the number 800 333 4542. They came and towed it to the nearest dealership. Im now waiting at home missing work, waiting for the dealership to call me. Do not buy or lease a Kia. I would be better off with a bicycle.
We had to change our battery 3 times in one year. I asked the Kia dealership at one of their regularly scheduled overpriced maintenance to check why the battery is not staying charged and they told me nothing. A 19-year-old at the local AutoZone listened for five seconds and told me my alternator had a bad bearing. Now, it’s time for inspection and the check engine light wont go off, so my mechanic tells me I have to take it to Kia to have them re-flash the software because it doesnt recognize the VIN. They charged $95, told me it was fixed, but the light was still on, so I go back inside and then they tell me, oh yeah, the computer is shot and its $2,000 to fix it. My mechanic is putting a rebuilt computer in for $200. I must still take it to the dealership to be re-flashed with Kia software, so thats another $95. I feel that Kia is a cheap piece of crap, I wont buy another one, and I wont pay for their outrageously expensive maintenance.
Our car was totaled in a wreck on 12/15/13 and the insurance company has done everything asked of them and Kia Motors Finance KMF (Louis, Jenny, Ms. Palencia (sp?) and now a Mrs. **) have promised on on several different times that a letter of Guarantee would be faxed over to the Insurance Company so we can get this settled and we can finally get a new car. They then fail on their promise every time. Now they are using the holiday (MLK) as an excuse as to why it hasnt been done when weve been waiting since 1/14/13 (which is when the insurance co sent the evaluation to KMF). NEVER WILL WE USE KIA MOTORS FINANCE AGAIN! They do not care about their customers, they only care about $$$. Very sad!
I just purchased my new Kia Soul mid-2012. It was disappointing enough that the promised MPG was far off from what was advertised. I did purchase the vehicle because of the purposed fuel ratings that were high. Obviously that did not happen for me and thousands of other consumers! But on to my other problem. My vehicle smells like mold! I took my car in for the oil change and also let them know of the odor. The service rep said they would check it out. I waited for my vehicle and when I went to check out, the rep told me they sprayed the vehicle hose where the a/c unit was with some type of freshener. He showed me a can that blasts the product through the hose. They proceeded to let me know that other people had complained of the same issue. I asked what caused this, he said from the a/c unit, rain, and parking under trees! What?! Its a faulty design from the a/c drain line! He stated I needed to change the filter which is located behind the glove compartment about every year to prevent the smell from coming back at a rate of $150! Are you kidding? Why do I have to pay for a defect in the lines for the a/c unit? He said thats just the way it is. He did say that they take care of it the first time. If its an issue, then just take care of the problem, forever. Only a few weeks have passed and the smell is back. The crazy thing is I got bronchitis and cant seem to get over it! Ive never had an issue with this in the past. I wonder if my car is a factor?! We all know mold is hazardous to peoples health and it can cause all types of serious health issues. Im just saying?! Im not sure what to do at this point. I cant afford $150 every few months to have the filter changed. Its just crazy to me.
I purchased a new 2015 Kia Soul on August 21, 2015. I immediately noticed chips in my paint from normal driving conditions such as pebbles hitting the front. At my first oil change I told the service shop about it. Their response was A water based paint was used on this model of the Soul. There is nothing we can do to fix the paint issue. They then sold me a freaking marker to color over the chips. The problem is these chips went all the way through the paint layers and you can see indentations when they are colored with the marker and every week I find more paint chips. I had a 2013 Soul and I loved it and I never had a problem with the paint.
