I bought this 2008 Acadia with 88,000 miles and got extended warranty. We have put 10,000 miles on it since December. Have had nothing but problems with power steering, windows leak, window regulator gone in passenger door. Abs light and traction light on and now bucks and skips between 30 and 50 miles an hour... GMC, thanks. You suck, Government Motors... Trying to trade in for Ford Explorer.. GMC, you need to stand behind your ** ups!!!!

Ive been having several issues with this vehicle. 2nd injector gone bad in less than 90k miles. It seems to be a known issue with vehicle but they refuse to take responsibility for it. Dealership deals with this same issue with multiple customers with no assistance or acknowledgement at all from manufacturer. Reached out to GM and received no assistance at all.

2008 GMC Acadia - So far purchased 2010 45k. When it rains the interior smells like a smelly gym locker. I replace headlights two times. The broke transmission second gear and reverse $1500. Thats no labor charge. My husband is certified mechanic. 4 recalls on it? Filling car with gas, the car wont start after doing so. Acceleration problems, air condition problems. I Do regular maintenance every 2500 miles. Not happy and still paying for it. The body is nice and well its a piece of junk. I will never buy one again.

For those of you who are researching Acadias for your future car, I would like to share that my 2014 Acadia Denali has been to the dealer 5 times for repairs/replacements parts in the past 9 months. My car currently only has 13,600 miles on it. At 4900 miles I had the Vacuum Brake Booster replaced. At 8500 miles I had the Master Cylinder Replaced. At 8900 miles I had to have the car towed because the stabilitrak went out and they replaced the Brake Pedal Position Sensor. At 10,400 miles they replaced another Vacuum Brake Booster. And finally at 13,600 miles I had the Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Solenoid Valve replaced. All of that happened in the first 14 months of the car. I now own a very expensive car that cannot go an oil change without multiple repairs being made in between. GMC has been non responsive until my state DMV contacted them. It is so disappointing to purchase a car that has no integrity and then try to work with GMC who only will respond if I escalate to a legal matter. I would think GMC would be pretty embarrassed to know their car has had so many failures but they are not even interested. Who knows what my 2nd year will look like but I would have wanted to have read this information prior to my purchase. The dealer making repairs has been nice, but again it is a such a pain to go up there 10 times for drop off and pick up. I traded in my MDX because the Acadia had bigger 3rd row and other features I wanted but in the end I will take a smaller car than drive a car that I constantly have to worry will break again.

I recently purchased a used 2008 GMC Acadia after scouring a trusted dealerships lot for a new SUV. I immediately fell in love with the features and look for the Acadia and signed my hard earned money away on the dotted line. Less than two months in, I now realize that this was the worst decision of my life. It drove smooth at first but I began to notice some transmission issues when accelerating. It wasnt noticeable enough to be a major deal as I am used to some lag in acceleration when driving heavier SUVs (I traded in a Toyota Sequoia). Now just one week after making my first payment my check engine light is as bright as day. As I scroll these reviews and look online for anger management counselors to keep me from flipping out at my local dealership and on the phone with GMC I am preparing a strategy to get rid of this vehicle especially now that I see all of the negative feedback. Thanks for all that have posted their experiences, I will never ever buy American or GMC again, back to foreign.

2010 GMC Acadia Blown Engine - Family took vacation to Colorado from Oklahoma Summer of 2015. Two hours outside of Denver @ 75mph engine shuts off. I barely get the SUV off the road, lucky we werent killed. Tow to SUSS GMC in Aurora, Colorado. Explain situation hoping to get the car up and running as we are on vacation. No Loaner car, No help with a rental car and 3 days later they say, Blown engine that will be $8600. The vehicle is 4 months out of warranty with 87k on it. This car already had one engine replaced under warranty, and now less than 20k later the replacement engine had blown. Obviously defective and poor workmanship and diagnosis by Ferguson GMC in Oklahoma.Nobody will stand behind the vehicle. Its sad. Im a GM guy. First car was a 68 Impala my grandpa gave me. I have had 7 GM since high school. What a disappointment this is... I cant get anybody to work with me or give me any help at all. My Supervisor Specialist has yet to call me back in a weeks time. We purchased the vehicle brand new. We began having problems immediately back and forth reporting issues. Beaman could not detect or duplicate the issues other than the recall problems. Ex of problems ranged from numerous recalls windshield, lights, condensation, time chain, and repeated issues with the transmission. The vehicle was under warranty. The problems with the vehicle continued. In 2012 the vehicle was paid off and warranty close to expiring. In May 2012 we left the vehicle with Beaman (transmission) while out of town. We picked up the vehicle and was told they could not duplicate the issue. Beaman advised us the vehicle was design to run and function that way. The following week the vehicle stopped. It was towed to another GM dealership. My second complaint to GM on May 16, 2012 - warranty expired. The service team determined the issue. Software components were damaged tied to the transmission required replacing. The service manager was able to convince GM to pay. My case Id still open. We continue to have issues with this transmission. This is clear to be UDAAP.

I bought my Acadia 2008 model from Bin Hmoudeh dealership (Abu Dhabi - United Arab Emirates) and had done just 70,000km. The transmission got stuck on the third gear and dealership made a complete overhaul to the transmission. I am blessed because I have extended the warranty for five years, else, I would have had to pay for the repair which cost around USD 6000. The dealership has given another year of warranty for the transmission until November 2013 or 20,000km. I love my Acadia and I am worried for such an incident to happen in a year or so. Other owners have advised me to sell the car! I cannot believe that a GMC car maintained at the dealership can have such a failure and below 70,000km! I seek your advice on such an incident bearing in mind that the Bin Hmoudeh dealership did what was expected from them. I have a concern related to the Acadia, reliability wise for the future. Should I sell the car now? Or can GMC assure me that such a breakdown will not happen for the next 50,000km or so? My Acadia is a front wheel (not AWD) and has been used in the city only!

I called GMC for roadside assistance. They took my information & payment, made me wait for 3+ hrs for help & then they cancelled my order without notifying me. I called them back to complain & their response: we will be returning your money back within 3 to 5 days & that i should call the police. GMC needs to stand by their products & services. You need to hire well qualified, trained & reliable staff and/or business partners. This was unprofessional & deceiving to the consumer. My complaints will be recorded with the BBB, Consumer Affairs & Federal Trade Commission. The consumer shouldnt have to go thru this nightmare. If you cant do the job then say that you cant do it. Be honest for once. Word of advise to ALL reading this: DO NOT CALL for GMC roadside assistance - no one will come to help you. Call your insurance company and use their roadside assistance - it FREE and they helped me in 30 min. Hope things will change.

I bought a 2008 Acadia a few years ago. I will never buy another GMC. When we first brought it home it had to go back so the whole rear end clutch system could be replaced. Then they said the tires had to be the same tread so the stabilitrak light would stay off and it still comes on all the time, and says service brake system until I add brake fluid then light goes off for a while. It makes a loud grinding noise on left turns and the dealership dont know why. Seems to me they dont have anyone that can figure out these Acadias and then I had no power steering and the power steering pump had to be replaced and when I picked it up from shop the shocks and struts broke. They told me the seals gave way after being on lift for six and half hours so I got stuck paying 600 for that. Now it keeps telling me transmission over heating let idle. And when I get gas it dont wanna start. I just give up and will be trying to trade in very soon.

Bought my 2007 Acadia used back in 08 and began to notice a wet floorboard after rain. Soon discovered the factory installed sun roof leaked but was told by the GM dealer we bought it from, all sun roofs leak! Almost immediately, the car wouldnt automatically change gears. Also, while driving down the expressway, the radio would turn off by itself. A few months later, I took the keys out but the car kept running!!! The car was towed to the dealership and the fuse box had to be replaced at the tune of $2000! To fix the leaking sun roof would cost another $2300. At this point I didnt want to spend the $$$$ so I tried to avoid the rain and parked it under the carport during showers. Well last week, while riding south on i75, about 20 miles north of Valdosta, the engine went out. Im done! Im out a car but NEVER EVER WILL I BUY ANOTHER GM!! My advise to anyone reading this, buy a Honda, Toyota, Hyundai, or Ford. Stay away from GM!!!

I bought my GMC Acadia fully loaded in March 2008. It started to leak in November of the same year. I had it repaired under warranty and they said that it was a factory issue that was happening to other Acadia owners. About a year later, it starts to leak from different places. Long story short, now that I have no warranty left, the dealers say that I have to pay for the repairs. I dont think I should have to pay for something that I didnt cause or not from normal wear and tear.

I am on the brink of tears....again. My lemon Acadia is at the dealership with a nice list of new issues. GM literally made an awful product - unsafe and unreliable, and makes the customers pay for their mistakes. For years it rained INSIDE my car. I finally got them to replace my moldy floorboards and fix the leak (after putting social media pressure on them - they wanted me to pay at first). Im constantly having issues with my steering and engine. There is never NOT something wrong with my car and I am fed up. Its not right. I would LOVE to get together with other Acadia owners and see if we can file some sort of lawsuit. Email me if interested!

I NOTICED a popping sound coming from the steering, as Id turn, took it in, according to them its fine... 3 weeks, I was just driving and it completely shut down no warning, I had to put it into park, restart it. Took it in, ran a diagnosis and nothing. December 2008, winter I was driving the car, the gas pedal went to the floor again, no warning, almost wrecked into a pole. Ive had continuous issues with my SUV, with the warranty, even worse now that I paid it off, repairs are more than anything else. Approximately 4000.00 in repairs now. I feel I should get a replacement being that this SUV only has 47,000 miles on it!!! Currently its in the shop, for the throttle body, last month I formed out $900.00 for brakes! Paid $125 For evap. valve. Im sick of this unsafe cartel or junk. I dont even take my child around in it because its not safe!

The horse power in this vehicle is amazing, 310hp stock. The engine under 60 miles an hr kicks over to a 4 cylinder to conserve gas. With my long commutes each day I can get 450 miles out of the 22 gallon tank.

This is our second ownership of a GMC Acadia since it was rolled out in 2007. As a family member of a former GM Employee, we purchased a 2007 GMC Acadia under the GM Employee program. That vehicle was plagued with problems. DVD player issues, fuel injectors, radiator, engine coils, trim rattles, the list goes on. The problems were so bad that the car was being taken to the dealership monthly and in some cases weekly. In 2009, we reached out to GMC at the advice of our service manager. GMC offered us 3 free oil changes for our troubles. Hardly a repayment for all the problems we had with the vehicle. To make a long story short, I contacted the BBB, filed a complaint and GM purchased the vehicle back as a Lemon.In 2009, using the refund from the buyback through the GM employee program, we purchased another GMC Acadia. This time the current 2009. We were told by the dealership that all of the issues that plagued the initial roll out had been fixed. This is certainly not the case. Again, we have had the same problems with the car being in and out of the dealership on monthly and sometimes weekly basis. Fortunately, they have all been covered under warranty until this most recent wave of problems.Several of these issues have put my family and me in great danger. Very early on in the car, when the fuel injectors broke, we were traveling home from vacation when the vehicle powered down on its own (to protect the engine) in the middle of a very busy freeway, I could not pull it over. We were stuck with semi-trucks racing past and my children crying in the back seat. All I could do was pray we didnt get smashed from behind while we wait for a tow truck. Another time is when the wave plate exploded in the transmission. I was driving my newborn baby home from the hospital! My wife, fresh out of a C-section, and my 5 day old newborn are stuck on a freeway because the transmission broke (which GM knew about because they issued a Special Warranty for its repair.)For the past month, my car has been at the dealership, due to catalytic converters that are clogged and needing to be replaced, then the timing chain needs to be replaced (which GM issues a special warranty to cover the cost) and now I am being told that the oil pump, pickup tube, and oil screen is filled with sludge and will cost me $1,600 to replace. I change my oil every 3,000 to 4,000 miles or when the oil gauge on the vehicle says 50% remaining. How on earth is there that much sludge. Turns out, after doing an internet search, that this is a common problem with the Acadia and there are pages and pages of customer complaints saying the exact same thing! All of which GM denies.GM knows the Acadia is bad. My service rep says he has never seen a vehicle with so many special warranty items issued on the car. My car needs to be purchased back as it is unsafe and unreliable and GM says they will give me $2,000. Sad considering I have given them 2 chances now. GM will not stand behind their products or do the right thing. They have forever lost a customer.

Bought my 2008 new, 42,000, love the vehicle at the start but it has turned into a money pit. First of all vehicle started to float all over the road. GMC dealership changed rack, rear shocks and numerous alignments. Tire treads wore out from the outside in. They couldnt figure it out. Local mechanic took rear struts out and bushing fell out. Two sets of tires later!!! Then last year timing changes went stretched. Needed to be replaced $4,000.00, now the passenger air bag. Time for it to go.

The coils were replaced, drive shaft per recall was replaced and now all of a sudden car is dead due to engine and timing chain. 2009 GMC Acadia gave me false hope. We have a 2011 GMC Acadia, 53,000 miles later still no issues. The only issue we have had is a wiring issue. The lights didnt work right so we got it fixed. We have not had an issue since and couldnt be happier with this car. Great job GM, the only reason why these others are saying bad things about it is because they are nothing but full-blown HATERS! This car is absolutely amazing. Plus everyone knows not to bring their cars to the dealership unless its under warranty because they LIE about things that are broken or it still works they just want their money. If its under warranty sure but if not take it to a family repair shop. Overall the Acadia is WOW.

My 2009 GMC Acadia has had 4 of 6 cylinder ignition coils go bad, 2 of 3 catalytic converters, power lift gate 3 times and countless other recalls. Including the heated washer fluid option where the fix was just to take it out. On the fourth coil going out I had enough and asked the dealer to contact GM to see if there was anything they could do. In my opinion a 66% failure rate is excessive. The response from GM was that they would do nothing since the car is outside of 36,000 miles. I had them escalate the request and just heard back from GM. The rep that called me said that it was there was nothing that they could do since it was outside of 36,000 miles. When I asked if it was normal and ok for GM to have a 66% failure rate the rep told me that he did not even know what the part was and did not know if it was normal or not. So I am driving the dealers courtesy car for the second week until I get an answer that makes sense. Will never buy a GM car again.

We bought my 2008 GMC Acadia brand new! When I had 30,000 miles on it, my transmission went out! I got it back and 1 day later, the Camshaft went out! It was in the shop for months! At 72,000 miles on it and 6 years, my engine is SHOT. $7,500 for a new one! The engine went out 2 weeks after my warranty was up! GM refused to do anything about it and I was never offered an extended warranty! So the repairs will be 3/4 what the car is worth! I called GM and explained the situation and the generous jerks said all they would do for me was give me $2,000 toward a new car! I talked to dealership and they explained it wasnt just a GM loyalty bonus, it was all they would give me for my trade in!! So I pay $43,000 for vehicle and 6 years later, its only worth $2,000!! Blue book is $11,000!! All I wanted was to at least get 1/2 of the blue book! However, that was not even considered! We have bought 8 GM vehicles brand new totaling $275,000! My dad retired from GM so I have always been loyal!! Never had any issues with our 4 Avalanches, Montana Van, Camaro, and Cavalier! The Acadia was my favorite (at first). I loved the style and room in it, but Ive seriously been so disappointed by all the issues - engine, camshaft, transmission, no radio or sounds because amp is fried! Front end making awful noises which again, they refused to fix! I will be purchasing another GM (dads discount is too good to turn down) and I hope and pray it will be alright because like I said, this Acadia is the only one weve had trouble with! I hope this helps someone! Make sure if you buy an Acadia to take it in at 36,000 and have a diagnostic run even if you dont notice anything and again before the 100,000 or 5 years!

Again it went back 4 min from where it was - overall lost 10 min every time I hit the accessory button. Has anyone else had this issue? Also very uncomfortable drivers seat. Supposed to be top of the line better than other models. When I took an SLE out for comparison that seat was much better. Go figure.

Took car in Dec 2015 and was told there was a problem with the sln valve faults p05cc, p05cd, p05cf, and p05ce. Dealership replaced all 4 actuators. Contacted gmc and told them that my vehicle is a lemon. Earlier this year started to have same problem informed dealership. Sunday 8/7 coming back from an outing got a ln alert on dashboard engine overheating. Had to pull over. Had vehicle towed to dealership, diagnostics engine is damaged. They had to order a new engine which will take about 2 weeks. Contacted gmc, open case and have not heard back. I just want for them to buy my car back because they sold me a lemon. Brand new car I should not be having these problems.

Our 2011 GMC Acadia (18,500 miles) will be in the shop for the third time as of tomorrow within four weeks. Each time, it has been to a different dealer/shop for repair. The first two noted two very different issues, but it boils down to the fact that the vehicle has serious electrical issues. There are numerous complaints/threads about the 2011 Acadia regarding this issue, amongst others. We have contacted GM corporate/customer service (which takes us to Austin, TX) and have been given the runaround ever since. The vehicle actually lost power when I was on the road driving recently. I had no power to go forward, and could only reverse.We have serious concerns now about the safety of this vehicle, and the Texas customer service department, District Specialists, Jamal and Shareef (not sure how to spell Shareef, but I will spell it like it sounds), and Shareefs supervisor, Josh (**), have done nothing but brush us off, leave us waiting on the phone for an hour (literally). They tell us they will call us back at a certain time and then do not follow through, and give us attitude. The car is still not running correctly. Today Josh - who refuses to give his last name, refuses to give us the name of his boss and tells us we cant go above him, tells us to take it to the dealer (again) and if we are still not happy, they will look into swapping it out. Josh refuses to tell us what that process includes, or how long it may take. Keep in mind we have already been told this by Shareef, so they seem to like to keep pushing you off in efforts to not deal with you. Not one of them has seemed overly concerned about our safety. This is supposed to be our family car (three kids, two dogs), as well as our mountain car. We live in CO and are in the mountains about 2-3 times a month. What if the Acadia had shut down on us, or slipped out of gear like it did the first time and when we were unable to move, on a steep grade? Or on the mountain highways in general? The chances of us being hit and potentially killed are very, very high. There are very few places to pull over and people tend to drive fast.We are highly disappointed with the individuals we have dealt with in Texas, as well as ** who works for a Chevy dealer (who was supposed to have fixed our car this last time) on 120th Ave. in Broomfield, CO. He seemed to think that the car shutting down on me on a highly traveled road was somewhat normal and a safety feature. He said that all cars have problems, and we should just expect them. Needless to say, the runaround and lack of general interest in our situation makes me seriously question the product I bought from GM, and GM all around. I should have bought the Nissan Armada. We are sorry to have given GM our business at this point.As a side note, each dealership who was supposed to have fixed our car (GMC in Glenwood Springs and Chevy on 120th) returned our car back very dirty. Grease marks were on the drivers, passenger door and wheel (Chevy), and tons of dust and debris were coating the interior of our car, which indicates they left the windows wide open (Glenwood Springs). ** at Chevy offered us a coupon at a local car wash, but did not seem to care or think it was bad customer service to give us back the Acadia more dirty than it initially was. These were terribly customer service experiences all around.

We bought a used 2007 Acadia, I love it. I needed the roomy SUV. I have twin granddaughters, 2 yrs old, that I watch while their parents work. I also take my 80-yr-old parents where they need to go, so I needed the room. My Acadias AC quit!! I didnt need that. I took it to the dealer where I bought it, they said my ac line had rubbed against a bracket and had a hole in it. OK, I thought it couldnt cost that much to replace a line, Wrong!!!! The line is in behind the motor, against the firewall of the SUV and that they would have to pull the motor to get to it!!! COST: estimate is over $1500!!! I cant afford that. I retired the day before from driving a school bus, no way can I afford that. The next day I took it back to the dealership to trade it in. I gave $14,500 for my SUV just 5 mo ago, so I thought I had paid enough on it to at least get pay off, Not!! They offered me $9,600 for it because they would have to fix AC!!! So far, I havent fixed the AC, I will have to rent a vehicle to take my parents on vacation in Sept. This is just crazy. If anyone else has had this problem, please let me know if there is a better solution to this problem.

GMC Acadia 2008 - I had a problem with my steering making a squeaking sound and getting harder to turn. I took it to gmc to have it checked. They found nothing in Oct.2014. The noise got louder, the car currently has 25,095 miles on it. Now I am being told the rack and pinion is leaking and needs to be replaced. The car has never been in an accident and has had all of the maintenance kept up. I received a letter from gmc saying they would replace the power steering pump if I had a problem, gmc does not consider this to be part of the pump problem, therefore they will not cover it. We own a 2010 GMC top of the line Acadia with only 45000km on it, its two owner car (87 year old man gave to his daughter). Its never towed anything and has had regular maintenance. I was taking the Acadia on Oct 22/16 over to my mechanics to have him check the urgency of repair needed for the power steering seals (they are bleeding which seems to be a very common problem for the Acadia). Upon driving the mere 4 miles to his business the vehicle started accelerating on its own. On a level surface it was actually increasing speed and required constant braking to maintain speed. Upon putting the car in park it was revving high.My mechanic tried connecting to the computer which gave no error message, disconnected the throttle body to confirm there was no debris or anything to cause spontaneous acceleration. He also disconnected the battery and reset the vehicles computer which had no effect. I submitted an online ticket to GM Canada on Oct 23/16 to bring to the companys attention the issue. Ive been contacted twice by phone to give the VIN number (provided to them on the online ticket Oct 23, left a voice mail to the case worker Oct 26 and again to a customer service rep Nov 3).My mechanic has identified the issue as being the throttle pedal sensor and seems to have successfully fixed the glitch however has warned me that since it has gone at such low mileage is highly likely to fail again. Im concerned to take it for long distance trips as this is the third issue thats occurred with this vehicle and is likely to happen again. To date weve had to fix the front sprayer for the windshield and we have the expensive fix for the power steering rack and pistons upcoming. Im severely disappointed that a car with such low mileage has such issues and am worried what future issues are upcoming. That said my mother enjoys how it handles and is everything she wants with a SUV. I just wish it had less problems.

We bought a 2009 Acadia in summer of 08. This spring of 2014 at 54,000ish miles we started having issues. Because of the catalytic converter and engine design, buildup from the fuel caused the cat to go and burned up a couple of coils on the engine. We also have a steering wheel issue. The mechanism could go at any time. We keep losing oil on that because of a broken gasket. Because of the way its designed instead of just replacing that one small part we have to replace the whole thing, $1100. Luckily the dealership did us a good turn and replaced the cat for free even though it was not warrantied and paid for our car to be towed since it could not be driven there. We paid for labor and other maintenance replacements. Between the two car repairs we spent about $1400.I didnt leave feeling very confident that this wouldnt happen again. I was told to only put Chevron gas in the car, mid grade or higher. I would even go so far as to put fuel cleaner (highest quality they make) in with a new tank of gas for extra insurance now and then. I would also recommend before 30,000 miles or before 60,000 miles, that you get your transmission flushed. They have a program that will give you $2000 or $1000 towards a new transmission should it go out if you are good about maintaining your vehicle. Its like a maintenance reward program.The dealership repair guys were great. Although I am very disappointed in a $40,000 vehicle that would cost us this much before 60,000 miles. We never had these troubles with our Subaru or Nissan. Our car still doesnt run great and we still need to put more money for repairs into it. If GMC would put more effort into improving their mechanical end, their products would be awesome. I wont buy another GMC though. Just not worth it for all the repair costs and hassle involved in breakdowns.

I had it towed to the dealer thinking it was the alternator, but turns out my engine went with only 58,000 miles. The dealer contacted me yesterday after the vehicle being there for two weeks now. They informed me that the bill will be $9,500 and that GM will cover $4,300 and I will need to cover the $5,200 balance. I had just replaced the defective navigation system in February 2018 which entailed replacing the entire radio as well. I have been loyal GM customer my entire life with all of my new vehicle purchases. Unfortunately loyalty does not seem to really matter with this company. I had been planning on buying the new 2020 Cadillac XT6 next year.

Since making the repair the engine continues to surge to 4000 RPMs from time to time under certain driving conditions as the transmission struggles to keep up. Problems with the car also includes numerous recalls, driver seat coming loose, and the front AC evaporator unit failed. After the GM warranty expired and weeks after replacing the front AC evaporator unit the rear AC evaporator and power steering failed. I can no longer afford the car and I believe that GMs product quality became poor after the GM bankruptcy and when GM became known as Government Motors.

I know for a fact she took care of it and had all paperwork for maintenance. Shortly after getting the car, the power steering completely failed almost causing a wreck. I had to replace the entire steering system which cost me $2k. The check engine light was on and I thought it was a tune-up, but it registered timing chain and camshaft. Big Bucks. Multiple recalls, alternator, water pump, multiple issues with the front end, air conditioning and heat are all issues that have had to be replaced or fixed. My wife has been left stranded 3 times, twice with the kids, and once was only a couple of days after we dropped it off for our warranty covered inspection/oil change/tire rotation.. Also have multiple friends with the same vehicle and they all have had the same issues and more. Two friends with transmission issues and another with engine failure after the transmission was replaced with just over 100000 miles on it. Ours now is starting to have a burning smell after being driven and takes a second before it knocks and goes into gear. Very disappointed in GM and wont purchase another.

Ive had constant problems with this GMC Acadia. It is soooo sad that consumers can get screwed like this & GM dont have to own up to their products... This cost people homes, jobs, stress, etc. Im looking at all of the complaints and wondering how are they getting away with this. I purchased this truck used in 2011. I thought ok, just 4 years old... Worst experience of my life. The next year, the problems started. New power steering pump, Sun roof constant leaks, destroying the interior lining. Automatic windows going out. My head lights & tail lights constantly going out. Throttle body Valve??? Dont ask me but it cost approx $1300 to replace... And the worst, my TRANSMISSION! I was told the TCM fixed it and the car started back running... Then it wouldnt go forward again... Was told the transmission again... At the same time, all the sound went out in my car, no radio... no onstar... no blinkers, etc... This is horrible... We have to stand up... Im hearing the same complaints. I have a 2008 GMC Acadia, bought new and now only have 49,154 miles on it and the transmission has gone out. The dealership wants $4200 to take it out and put a refurb in, no opening it up or looking at it. GM says they wont recognize that there is a problem with their Acadias and the transmissions and refuse to recall costing consumers thousands! GM is willing to put $1200 towards the fix but they require that it is opened up and looked at before fixing. Once that happens they will decide whether it is repaired or a refurb is put in. But this takes my rights away. If they choose it gets fixed, then it comes with a 12,000 mile/1 year warranty. If it is replaced then it comes with a 100,000 mile/3 year warranty. I dont get to make this decision though if I accept their terms. What kind of help is this? Everywhere I have read, it will only be a matter of time before the transmission goes out again. :( Also to note, we have had to replace both headlights for wiring issues, replace the water pump, and have all the seals replaced in the moon roof and sun roof!

I bought my Acadia used from Bob Allen Dealership in Danville, KY in July 2010. At 62,100 miles, rain water started leaking into the cabin of the vehicle on the passenger side and rear seating areas. I could hear the water moving around inside the roof compartments while driving. The carpet becomes wet repeatedly. At one point it started to have mildew on the passenger side carpet. I have had it cleaned on several occasions. The battery compartment in the rear passenger side floor board filled with water. I took it to a mechanic, had the water drained and battery replaced. The water damage has caused electrical issues. My radio, cd player, and navigation system no longer works. I had to remove the fuse from the speakers to stop a loud irritating sound. The power steering pump was replaced around 80,000 miles. A mechanic stated that I need new struts. There is a metal to metal grinding noise when I place the transmission into drive mode. When I refill my gas tank, my Acadia will not start on the 1st or 2nd attempt. I have to push hard on the gas while turning on the ignition switch in order to start my engine. Afterwards, it starts without issues until the next trip to the gas station.I took my Acadia in to repair the roof leak twice. The drain ports were cleared. Although the second repair attempt decreased the amount of water leaking into the vehicle, my windows still become drenched from the inside. During the winter months, the water on the inside of my windows freeze. I have contacted GMC about the water leak issue. I was told by GMC that I should contact their GMC overseas department because I was stationed in Germany. I was later told that my VIN was not covered. I am basically stuck with a car that has caused me to pay way more than I ever expected in repair work. GMC has failed miserably with the Acadia model vehicle. I will never own a GMC vehicle again.

When I encountered water leak problems, GM didnt cover it, dealer didnt help either. Got it fixed for few thousand out of pocket. Just got traction control off/ stabilitrak system off/ check gauges, check engine light on messages... reading all the complaints over here-- its just a matter of time that I am going to get transmission and other issues.I read pretty much on all the message boards and messages about people saying there should be a recall and/or a class action lawsuit. Question is, what does it take to create a class action law suit? Why not someone start a list to see how many of us are in this situation. Fact is, GM screwed us. $40,000+ is not pocket change or a small amount for anybody to let go. I am sure everyone has worked hard for their money to buy these SUVs, expecting them to be safe and reliable. These Acadias are neither and moreover have no resell value. We got screwed. I have over fifty mailer ads from lemon law lawyers about this car. Has anyone contacted the lawyers and found any relief? I am in for a Class Action. Can someone make a list?

2009 Acadia bought brand new in 09 has turned into a lemon :( I have helped 2 friends buy an Acadia. I have been nearly a spokesperson for the Acadia and now, another major repair is necessary. We have 95k miles on it and the transmission just went out. I am only 4 months past our 5 year warranty (mind you the dealership in which we purchased the Acadia has a LIFETIME power train warranty...but GMC wont honor that because the dealership went out of business). I filed a case with GMC. They contacted the dealership that has our car and have only offered us a discount on refurbishing our transmission... What?! I dont want to refurbish this bad one, I need a new transmission. I did not accept their terms and our car is still sitting at the dealership (its been a week already) and we pray they change their mind and offer us a better deal tomorrow. :(

But why would I take my car to a GM dealer to tell me my car’s problem isnt a recall related problem? I refuse to give you any of my money! I am very disappointed! The woman from GM said theres not any recalls on this vehicle but my seat belt chime wont stop dinging, my car wont drive at all, my RPM gauge is revving past 4, the power steering is very tight and locks up turning corners and parking. Thank god I wasnt driving on the highway when this started, it wouldve been a very bad accident. I cant believe this. I wouldnt have thought a reputable company would have invested in excellent parts and genuine work. I would never recommend GM nor will I ever waste my money on any of their vehicles again.

I first saw the 2008 Red Jewel Tint Coat GMC Acadia at my local county fair in September 2007. I sat in the drivers seat and said, One day Ill own one. On November 7, 2007, I drove home the PROUD owner of a beautiful American product. I couldnt wait to show it off and brag about the Crossover I called my own. Talk about love of a vehicle... this was it. I found it inconvenient that only certain dealerships were even certified to work on my baby, unless it was the dealer I bought it from, they could work on it (but really? If it takes someone especially certified, I dont want to take it to the dealer I bought it from if they arent certified) plus, Id have to say that this is the first vehicle Ive ever heard of that requires a special certification to service the vehicle to keep the warranty intact. I faithfully maintained it and did everything I was told needed to be done (granted things like changing air filters, I did myself for the cost of the part vs. the cost of the part + $100 to have it done). The front-end of the transmission was rebuilt at 44,000 miles. Water pump required replacement, there were a couple recalls (minor), and an enormous issue with the A/C system (which eventually got fixed). Now, I must say GM took care of all of these problems, without issue. Kudos, it sounds like I may be the only one. Oh, and the driver side door seal leaks, so my seat gets wet when it rains (never fixed it as it was past the bumper-to-bumper warranty when it started and couldnt afford to repair it with the already near $600/month payment). However, I am now at 126,334 miles on the odometer and my love is near lost. I paid it off last spring and am now having several repairs, which would be VERY costly to have the dealership fix. In most recent weeks, I have replaced the spark plugs (as a general tune up and PM due at 100,000 miles), immediately had check engine light on and flashing-vehicle began running very rough, idling up and down, and near chugging at times. ONstar reported multiple engine misfires and spit out the following codes: P03000, P0174, P0171. Now along with that, the traction control began intermittently turning itself off (which I know it does when the check engine light is on or when it senses something off). Upon researching these codes we decided the best action would be to replace the problem coils.... P0174 and P0171 cited lean fuel conditions in the respective cylinders and after reading all the reviews, I decided to replace all coils. Ok new spark plugs and new coils... should run great. Unhooked the battery to clear the codes and CEL. Still having the same problems except now the CEL isnt coming on. Next thought, replace the fuel pump. It could be the problem, I did after all have the trouble with -40 wind chills that it wouldnt even kick on so that I could start the vehicle. 2 days later it started working again (thought a fluke, maybe a short or a loose wire), havent had any further problems until this now..... Overall, I like the Acadia, but am really beginning to become discouraged. I keep thinking, I get this fixed and the exhaust replaced (which just rusted through in a small area) and everything will be good to go, but what happens when the timing chain needs replaced (thats a high bill) the cover has already been leaking forever and the dealership never bothered to enlighten me on that. Power steering fluid is leaking out like its in a sieve - made sure everything is tight and now am running Lucas Power Steering Stop Leak in it to try to keep fluid in it as long as possible and hopefully prevent failure and required replacement of the pump or worse yet, the rack-and-pinion. I can see where it might get really costly (more than it is right now) to continue to drive this vehicle. I do have to say I havent driven the Acadia in near 3 weeks as Im afraid it will leave me stranded. Its a shame that GM quit making the 3.8 (3800). I had multiple vehicles with that motor and never had to do anything to them other than change the oil, sparks plugs, air/oil filters, and 1 alternator. Bring back the proven equipment and ditch the new garbage. Thankfully, last spring I bought a KIA Optima for my primary transportation to and from work. It is getting me everywhere I need to go since the Acadia is down, sucks though - I got stuck in the snow because the snow was simply too deep and the tires wouldnt touch the ground any longer. Wish I had the Acadia to drive in the snow, it is after all a record breaking winter!

Bought a 2009 gmc Acadia in 2010 that was supposed to be an execs vehicle. Paid over 50k when said and done. We have 17 pages of repairs already. Steering was replaced 5 times and is making the same clicking but gmc feels I should pay to fix it. Whenever we gas up the truck wont start. They force you to do all kinds of bs maintenance to keep your warranty which ironically never covers the issues or parts needed. In addition there have been at least 9 recalls in 5 years. Will never buy a Gmc vehicle again.

I purchased a 2015 GMC Acadia in September 2014. The steering wheel shakes terribly. Ive brought it to the dealer several times. At first they said the tires had flat spots and would correct itself. Then they did a special wheel alignment on it. 40,000 miles later and having brought it to other shops (shops specializing in tires) I am still having the issue. In March 2015 (6 months after purchase) I had to have the brakes, rotors, brake pads, calipers, --everything replaced at a GM dealership in Florida as the rear brakes etc were completely rusted out. They had to use a sledgehammer to get things off. In September 2015, I had to have the same rear brake parts replaced as they had rusted out again!I used to drive 100,000 miles a year and never had this happen. Now I drive 20,000 and the brakes are rusting out. Ive lived in the same area for 60 years, so its not that Ive moved. I love the Acadia - but with the shaking steering wheel and the brakes rusting out, I wouldnt recommend buying it. Also the XM radio goofs up (not a big deal but it does happen) and they installed their WIFI in the Acadia and it shows theres a signal, but you cant use the WIFI.

Well after scouring the forums I think I have my opinion and the problem with the front engine mount on these vehicles. If the oil filter is removed during an oil change, oil will drip down and into the front engine mount regardless of the rubber hood. After a while it seems that the oil deteriorates the rubber inside the mount causing it to fail. This is a design flaw for sure. Sure the oil could be pumped out of the engine but still oil can seep down when the filter is removed. Yes, we have also had the steering rack/pinion replaced at 20K miles, and now this. I will never buy another.

We have had very numerous repairs on this 2008 while other vehicles our kids have, Toyota, have none of these problems. Love the 2015 Acadia Denali but hesitant on buying due to concern for these same problems.

GMC has had camera issues for several yrs. Continued selling know the safety issues. I would recommend you avoid this vehicle at all costs. I bought my 2009 Acadia SLT brand new in 2010 since it was on offer, since then I had problems two times with the fuel system and had to replace it all. And by all I mean fuel rails, fuel injectors, spark plugs, fuel pump, fuel sensors and hoses, I get warning lights of low oil pressure from time to time with no apparent reason. I also had to replace the complete front suspension with the lower control arms and engine mounts. Now I am also getting a warning that I have a bad catalytic converter. Not to forget to mention that I had to replace the hydraulics for both the trunk and the hood, and what kind of car has the battery behind the passenger seat? Not to mention that the engine compartment is too congested and you cant even see the accessory belt in order to know if it needs replacing. My advice is never to buy an Acadia. I think total cost of repairs so far is about $10,000 and it only is driven 75,000 miles so far.

Purchased my acadia in october 2008 built custom from factory. I love my truck, my idea was to drive it for 200,000 miles. But at 42,000 miles the transmission went out, all types of other repeated problems, but was absorbed thru the extended gmpp warranty I paid for. Now right after my 95,000 mile warranty is up, Ive moved into my next round of problems. At 105,000, transmission control module goes out 1,200$, water pump replacement (free) and thermostat replacement 480$, front end rack & pinion and struts 600$, car shuts off, all types electrical system going crazy. Today Im told 680 for a fuse box. I love the style and idea of the acadia but the company and dealers and crooks. I have an 08 kia optima I bought new at the same time. It has 90,000 miles on it and all I do to it is change the oil and they gave me free lifetime oil changes for that!!! I WILL NEVER BUY AMERICAN AGAIN!!!!!

When we head back home en-route to 101 freeway, it was drizzling a little bit that time, suddenly it chimed 3 or 4 times and wondering whats wrong, my instrument panel indicated stability track light on, reduce engine power and applied brakes, felt like I was drifting a little bit from a different lane, and loss engine power, kind a bit worry, but managed to pulled into the shoulder lane. As per the troubleshooting, turn off engine and wait for 15 seconds and start engine, nice! Stability light off with no issue except engine light on now. Managed to drive again for an hour just to head back home. Brought my Acadia to GMC service department to see whats wrong with the engine. It put out a fault code of P0700 and P182E pertaining to manual shift lever inside transmission shortening out. For 23500 miles I wouldnt expect that, and my warranty just expired last July, it cost me $1200 for that issue. Now, Im heading to Texas driving my Acadia, makes me wonder what discrepancy will my Acadia will call out.

About 3 weeks ago, the engine light came on again. The repair shop I took it to said it was the transmission. I took it to a transmission shop, who said it was a known problem with this model of transmission, and that it was still being produced, even though its a known piece of junk. GM isnt obligated to do anything, because its not a life threatening problem. I will never buy anything made by GM, again.

I bought my 2009 GMC Acadia new. It just turned 62,000 miles. All 6 ignition coils have been replaced (not all at once). Numbers 4 and 6 went first. Then 3 and 5 went. Since theyre at the back near the firewall I had number 1 replaced too since the intake manifold had to be removed to accomplish the repair. A little over 2 weeks ago number 2 had to be replaced. The replacement of 6 coils is unacceptable for a vehicle with mileage as low as mine. Of course we all know about the timing chain issues and transmission flex plate problems. GM should be ashamed of this 3.6 liter motor and the transmission. The comfort and passenger compartment is great. Of course when you have to have your vehicle towed over 100 miles to get back home from vacation that comfort doesnt help. Thats what happened to my family Saturday. This junk is in the shop now with my mechanic. He is very honest and doesnt try to sell you service you dont need. You can look over his shoulder if you want to. He left dealership service due to their dishonest practices. Im getting no ignition to 2, 4, and 6. This isnt a coil issue. It probably is a wiring harness issue or fuse box issue. He explained the flimsy fuse boxes. The fuse boxes are made of layers of flimsy metal sheets so the sockets for the fuses wear out. I also may have damaged my cat by driving with the constant misfires resulting in dumping unignited fuel into the cat. I also have a broken front motor mount, another piece of junk as he states. All of this with around 62,000 miles. Buyer beware. My wife wanted this car bad and I bought without doing research. Never again. I may go for a Honda Pilot next time, after I do lots of research. BTW, I guess most of you know that the Acadia and the Chevy Traverse are the same. I forget the Buick equal.

First the struts were blown out the third year we owned it and also a stabilizer bar and most recently the throttle sensor went bad and so the entire throttle body needed to be replaced and also some reprogramming supposedly. Not impressed with this GMC - could be the last one we ever own. Oh and of course the later fix gmc weasled around the warranty knowing which parts are junk and how to get around covering junk parts.

Bought a 2008 Acadia SLT FWD used from a GMC dealer. Ironically, about the same time as two of our friends. So far, it has been a complete disaster. The worst car we have ever owned and our friends have had a never ending list of similar issues. It started with the little knobs in the car just falling off. The first to go was the lumbar support knob on the drivers seat. Then the airbag light comes on and off for no reason. The reverse parking system consistently flashes a message that it needs servicing so we have shut it off at about 60,000 miles. Beware: this car is heavy and it eats tires, rotors and brakes. We are at 98,000 miles and have had 3 sets of tires, new rotors and new brakes. To top that off, the struts and shocks needed replacing at about 90,000 miles. At 98,000 miles (today), we are being told we need $5,300 in repairs to the car for a water pump, transmission (please look on the internet for this before you buy. Their transmissions are terrible and shift poorly), and engine rebuild. Overall outside of oil changes, we will have spent over $8,000 in repairs on a car we have driven just at 60,000 miles which is horrible. The gas mileage on these is not great, we get just about 16.5 miles per gallon on this car. Did I mention the sunroof leaks more than the Titanic during the rain. It just pours in at the drivers sun visor. Bring a towel on a rainy day. If you think this is unique, think again. You can search Acadia leaky sunroofs and there are tons and tons of them. If anyone thinks I am exaggerating, just do some basic searching on the problems I have listed, they are common. There are a ton of service bulletins out on these cars for all kinds of issues. Again, do not buy one of these. I repeat: do not buy this car. Did I mention the air conditioning will just shut off for no apparent reason? Ours does.

Then, again the same thing happened, and then they had to replace something, and something else, and something else. I met with the area person in charge of working out these issues who gave me coverage until next June, and now again I am experiencing another problem. The ignition won’t turn all the way to allow the key to come out. Please do not get me wrong, the employees are very wonderful, but wonderful will not solve my problem. Please, how can you help me? We bought a 2011 Acadia with 78k miles on it. Ive been a GM fan my entire life and trusted the name. It seemed like a great vehicle at first. We had some minor issues here and there but nothing too bad. My first aggravations were with the engineering of the vehicle. Changing the oil is a pain and the headlight bulbs are a nightmare. The air system decided to only blow hot air on the driver side, possible deflector failure. Good times for the summer. One day the engine started knocking.Immediately we parked it and towed it to our local shop. They started it to listen to it and the engine locked up. 6 months out of warranty (90k miles on it, but over 5 years) and GMC said well youre the second owner so we cant help you. 7k to put a new engine in. Im nearly 30k into the vehicle and max trade in is about 10,500 from a GM dealer. With the original engine and the new GM engine we average about 13-14 mpg getting 16 highway. My 04 Silverado gets 17. Ill never, ever buy a GM product again.

My 09 Acadia has had so many problems - I wish I never bought it. The timing chain has been replaced THREE times! Once at 26k miles, once at 83k miles and now again at 111k miles. In addition to that...there have been so many other issues (tranny has been taken apart and rebuilt twice). GMC offers coverage up to 120k miles on the chain, but I wasnt aware of that when I took it to my shop. Now they wont even help cover any of the costs when I provide full, detailed, back up. I love the car when its running, but Id suggest to stay away from Acadia. Theyre really garbage.

I do not believe its the dealers fault but a factory defect or poor design. The service manager said he sees several a week come through with this issue. I tried to work with a GMC Factory rep; no help at all and blames the Stubby antenna that had always been removed before washing. My 4th GMC, but more than likely my last since they dont stand behind their products or dealerships. The dealership will cover 1/2 the cost of repairs, which is almost $500.

Shortly after purchase of the Vehicle, I noticed that the Vehicle began shaking while shifting. This led me to believe that there was an issue with the Vehicle’s transmission, which was confirmed by my mechanic.Below is a timeline of my correspondence with GM: Initial call to GM on 11/20. Case number given #**. Spoke to representative and told him there was a transmission issue diagnosed by my mechanic. Watson Transmission in Denison, TX that could potentially be covered under warranty. GM Representative indicated that there could be coverage assistance if issue was similar to Wave Plate and recall transmission for similar model vehicles. GM Representative also indicated that GM would likely provide financial assistance due to the fact that the vehicle was under the mileage limit for warranty coverage (despite being a few months out of the time limit). Was advised by Representative to bring vehicle into a GMC dealership.11/21 brought vehicle to my local GM dealership, Parkway Buick GMC in Sherman, Texas. A week later I was told the vehicle transmission would need to inspected in order to identify issue to submit to GM for coverage. I was informed that the charge to disassemble and diagnose the issue, $1,000, would be my responsibility until coverage was determined; the dealership. Based on the statement from the GM Representative that GM would likely provide financial assistance, I decided to proceed. 12/6 Dealership indicated the transmission would need to be replaced and GM had denied warranty claim. I contacted GM and was told the claim was denied but a new ticket number was given to escalate to Senior Analyst. Senior Analyst determined no coverage.Parkway Buick GMC gave me the option of paying to have the Vehicle put back together (in addition to the $1,000 we had to pay to take it apart) or replacing the transmission altogether. As it did not seem prudent (financially or practically) to reassemble the Vehicle with a known transmission issue, I elected to have Parkway Buick GMC replace the transmission (at a cost of nearly $5,000). Had I not been encouraged by the GM Representative that assistance would be provided, I would not have proceeded, at that time, with the initial disassembly and inspection, as my family was not prepared for the financial burden of transmission replacement.After researching this specific problem, I have learned that this is a common issue with the Acadia model vehicle. I believe that the failure of the Vehicle’s transmission was a manufacturing flaw. And, considering that the Vehicle was just a few months out of warranty but under the warranty mileage limit at the time the issue was discovered, I appealed, asking that GM cover in full or share with me the cost of this repair. My appeal was denied.GM’s reputation and marketing emphasize its vehicles’ durability, reliability, and safety and care for customer satisfaction. I have many family and friends that have owned GM vehicles and, before this incident, I had no reason to believe that the company would deny coverage for repair of an issue with one of its vehicles. I was, honestly, very surprised that GM not only denied my claim but also declined to offer assistance with the $1,000 charge for diagnosis, a step that was taken at the suggestion of one of its dealerships. Especially considering that I had been told by the GM representative that there would likely be assistance.I anticipate that in a few years, I will need to upgrade to newer vehicle, but now I hesitate to ever purchase another GM vehicle. I am GM’s target customer, the father of a young family that is growing and will have a need for multiple safe and dependable vehicles for years to come. GM did not stand behind its product and cover the cost of this repair.

From a loyal GM household that has bought 13 new GM vehicles in 25 years, I am fed up and looking for a new manufacturer that cares about their customer. My 2009 GMC Acadia SLT1 has had nothing but problems since the warranty expired. The transmission went out literally on a trip when I rolled past 100,00 miles and stopped for gas. Had it diagnosed at a trusted independent shop and was told I need a new transmission. Called GM Customer Care and elevated the case and was told I was 3-4 months past the 5 year warranty. Needed a GM diagnosis. After 3 days of frustration, I called the service manager at my GMC dealership. He told me this is a known problem on early the year build, wave plate disintegrates causing havoc. Said it would be two weeks before they could look at it since they had several others ahead of me, then another week or two for the repair. GM would only consider helping on the repair after the work is completed and would at best kick in 20-25% based on their experience. Could be as high as $4500. I could not wait and had my independent guy replace the transmission at $3300, a discount of $200.This was soon after I had to replace struts. Then I get a low pressure, stop engine warning. Had it towed and could not find cause or repeat. Now the A/C is out and cause cannot be determined in leak test. Dealer guess is that based on odor coming out of vents, it is likely the evaporator, an estimated $1600 repair. Vehicle has 108,000 miles, is garage kept and well maintained.After this, plus having the timing chain replaced (under warranty) and numerous recalls, I have lost confidence and wanted to trade it in. The dealer low balled the trade offer because of the A/C. I called GM again looking for some sort of loyalty goodwill. In over two weeks, after elevating to a senior customer care rep, all I have gotten is broken promises on call backs, repeated inquiries to repeat my story. Last promise was I would hear back same day or in 24 hours (last week). Nearly a week has passed and I am left assuming they hope I will just go away.Looks like I will be going away....to another OEM. Loyalty built GM, treatment like this and faulty products will continue the decades long slide in market share. I cannot recommended GM to my children or their friends. Who will be their customer of the future? GM makes great big SUVs and Trucks...all else is a roll of the the dice. 25 years and out....later GM. Should be a class action suit on the transmission. AC problem is a common problem, too, I am told. Time to test the New GM, and leaderships claim of new transparency.

Since that time we have experienced repeated issues with the fuel gauge dropping to completely empty, while much more gas is in the tank. Have taken it in for service 7 times already and have spent numerous more times talking with them and calling Corporate GMC. They have tried reprogramming a couple times, checking a float in the tank, replacing a cluster, etc. They tell me nobody else has this issue, and the loaners I have had have not had this issue. Their end-solution was for me to always keep half a tank of gas in the vehicle. Theres a solution for you. Now when the tank is nearly full, it shows over full. Salesman tells me, Hey, I dont make em, I just sell em.

I took it in to get serviced at GMC Baytown where I purchased the vehicle because it was running rough. When I got up to 70, the car would surge and vibrate to the point that I thought it was going to completely die on me. They fixed the car after 3 weeks of having a rental and poor communication from them. I got the car back and it was not fixed; it did the same thing before I even got it home. I live in Hamshire, Texas, so I was driving over 30 minutes to the dealership for service. I again took the car back and they changed more parts and again, it was not fixed. After trip 4, they finally realized it was the engine coils. After so many problems, I asked the dealership to buy back the vehicle for my current balance and they were very rude and talked horrible to me. The owner even said I was lying about his salesman Scott not calling me back after 10-15 phone calls about a new vehicle. It was so bad my husband went to get the vehicle and made them apologize to me. The salesman Scott did apologize and stated, Im sorry for not calling you. I have no excuses why I didnt call. I know you are aggravated about your air conditioner being out and that is understandable. He didnt even know why my car was even there. Then the next day, my power steering went out and they refused to look at it and told me to take it to another dealership because nothing they worked on could have affected it. I took my vehicle to another mechanic and we found that a piece they had worked on was broken and replaced it with a drinking straw! My car is still broken.

I took it in dozens of times starting at under 5000 miles for loud idling, banging sounds, sludged engine, steering loss, drastically dropped fuel economy, etc. Given one excuse after another claiming oil not changed enough despite receipts proven I had. GMC claimed I had never brought it in for oil changes there. They also claimed they had no record of several of the times I brought it in to them while on warranty. I produced receipts from the dealers service department that showed I had. Every time I brought it in they claimed they could not hear probs, couldnt recreate the steering etc. Right after the warranty expire the same service manager who had said probably 5 times he couldnt hear the prob or recreate the steering issue says as he drove it back Do you know your steering is out and sounds like your engines going to need to be replaced? Fast forward years later and they finally did a recall on the steering so that is fixed. The transmission is now on a 120,000 mile extended warranty. They it out to avoid another recall - Timing Chain recall that if you try to have down they claim it has been done even though no record. I take it to another dealer and he says flat out GMC refuses to replace the failed engines that are failing in all these models. Funny I guess we all didnt do our oil right huh? Im ready for a class action suit. Contact me to join. The steering, timing chain and transmission recalls and extended warranties are all because of class action suits. Lets do this people. They cant keep selling expensive pieces of junk to good honest hard working American families.

Like everyone else....My 2008 GMC Acadia is having transmission failure. AGAIN. This will be my 3rd transmission in this vehicle. My first replacement was 30k miles ago, and now its in the shop again. I had my transmission rebuilt last year because right when I hit 100k miles I started having problems. It ended up being everyones favorite, the wave plate. Now, they are telling me its the torque converter. Before this vehicle, I had a GMC Sierra which was covered under the lemon law due to serious brake problems. After fighting them for so long on that truck, they gave me this vehicle. What a nightmare it has been.I wrote GM an email with screen shots of many of the complaints in this forum. Along with many other complaints and stats that I found regarding the bad transmissions in these vehicles. I then contacted them via Twitter and phone. They told me they will pay 30% of the repair. Wow GM, how kind of you. I have had every problem documented, leaks in the vehicle, electrical failure, car just stopped running when I was going 75 on the 405 in LA at 11pm at night. That was fun.I am now fighting them on this transmission repair. This transmission should have been recalled. Worst part of it, this is just an old transmission from a previous Acadia that they rebuilt and are trying to charge me $2,800 for. Its not like they recalled it and fixed the issue, then built new transmissions. Its going to have the same exact wave plate issues, because its the same transmission! What dont they get about this? It has been such a battle with GM over the last 8 years. All I want to do is get as far away as possible from GM & GMC. They have no love for their customers and do not work hard enough to give anyone a reason to stick around. Their new CEO better start working double over time.

For the last few months, I have been experiencing an issue that seemingly cannot be resolved! When I am driving on the highway and I achieve the speed want to go and let off the gas and the vehicle would coast, it starts what I refer to as missing. It has not given off any codes and I have had it checked out by two mechanics. The problem is getting worse! Without a code and the lack of anything obvious, it cannot be resolved. The last time I took it in, the transmission fluid was low, which makes me wonder with all of the posts on transmissions going bad in Acadias, if it could be my transmission. I do not know what to do and am writing this in hopes someone has had similar issues and can share your experience and maybe your end result! HELP!!!

After working hard for many years and striving to purchase what I thought was a top of the line vehicle - I purchased in July 2013 a used GMC 2010 Acadia SLT AWD fully loaded coming off a 3 year lease. I cannot afford a brand new one with a sticker of $45,000. The vehicle had extremely low mileage 33,000 miles. I wanted a larger, heavier vehicle with AWD to plow through the Michigan snow. I need a vehicle with low miles as I drive annually 22,000 per year. After one year of ownership, the vehicle had the typical Rack noise which is described in many forums was supposedly fixed by the dealer. This fix lasted one year and the rack once again is starting to thump at low speed turns. To fix this rack even though it was replaced a year earlier is $1000. In the 2.5 years that I have owned it I am now at 87,000 miles. I regularly changed the oil faithfully every 5-6,000 miles. I used synthetic oil as was told to me to do at the dealer. I did this because I was relying heavily on the car to last me to 160,000 miles or higher. That was not to be.4 days ago my husband took the car and the vehicle completely died on his way home. No lights, no warning, no nothing. We thought it was the battery and replaced the battery. You turn the key on vehicle to turn it over and nothing. My husband is not a professional mechanic but knows a lot about vehicles. He got under the vehicle to see what was going on and decided to try to turn the crankshaft -- it was completely seized. Yesterday the vehicle that I thought was finally one that was going to last now is going to cost at a minimum of $3000 to $6000 to repair. I am so upset and so frustrated with the way the Chevy/GMC vehicles have major issues with miles greater than 70,000. I dont know yet how we are going to pay to fix this vehicle. We are right now waiting on the official diagnosis from the dealer.Yesterday they called and stated it is for sure an internal issue and needed our permission to tear it apart. Once and if we fix it (not going to be able to afford the fix probably), I will never be able to trust the vehicle again. 2 weekends ago we had a basketball tournament and had 2 other children in the car with us over 100 miles away from home. I thought I would give another chance to GMC/Chevy to prove me wrong with a top of the line vehicle but I was wrong.My advice on these message boards is this - do not keep these vehicles more than 70,000 miles. After 9 days of diagnostics the final diagnosis was a spun rod bearing went in the lower end of the engine and it experienced catastrophic engine failure. A new engine will need to be installed if one can be located. After countless hours speaking with GMC and due to the fact that I am just shy of the 5 year mark --- GMC agreed to pay 60% and we pay 40% for a new engine. Total out of pocket expense will be around $3000.00. The dealership was kind enough to give me a rental car while this mess is figured out. Total fix for an engine swap is about $7500.00 for a vehicle that is at 87,000 miles. I am detailing the saga here of dealing with GMC and how many hours my husband has been on the phone trying to get this resolved.An engine was located and arrived at the dealer on Feb 16th. On Feb 17th we were told the engine that GMC agreed to split cost with us arrived missing parts. The dealer stated this was unacceptable and sent the engine back and requested a new one. After 22 days at the dealership we are still waiting on an engine. I believe engine availability is so limited right now because GMC is having to replace so many of these 3.6L V-6 engines. So the saga goes on. So the saga goes on. For something to happen in January – I am really hoping to have my car fixed in March some time! An engine was located and shipped to the dealer.

I was told if it happened again, I would have to stand the cost of repairs. 8000 miles later, the brakes had gravel in the pads and the rotors were grooved and had to be turned. I was told that I must blow the dirt off every week. The service write up person said only people driving on gravel roads were having trouble. I said the Acadia book did not say to stay off gravel roads or to blow the brakes off every week. GM has a serious defect in their design that needs to be addressed.

While parking at a store, My wife had her foot on the brake approaching the parking space, when the gas pedal suddenly went to the floor (full throttle). She tried to stop by applying more pressure on the brakes. This did not stop the car (2007 GMC Acadia), She also tried pulling up on the throttle with my foot, couldn’t get it to come up. She finally stopped when the car hit the Walmart store outer wall. My daughter was in the car with her at the time and witnessed the entire incident just as described above. This was a $5200. Crash, as well as her first collision counting against my record in 45 Years of driving. Has anyone else had this happen to them, GMC needs to check these vehicles out for this problem and get them fixed before some get hurt or dies.

I purchased a 2011 GMC Acadia with 25,000 miles. I never missed an oil change and updated within 3 years of purchase. The gas pedal became very stiff, causing the car to quickly accelerate. Need to be replaced. The fuel sensor broke and needed to be replaced. The driver side air modulators broke causing hot air to blow. Needed to be replaced. The driver side window control panel broke and needed to be replaced. The hood support rod broke. The radiator broke and needed to be replaced. The radio broke and need to be replaced. The air conditioning blows hot and needs to be replaced. The engine mounts all broke and needed to be replaced. The engine is now dying and was recommended by my mechanic to get rid of the car. He says I need a new engine. I still have a $7000 balance left on the car and it is worthless.

I have a 2013 GMC Acadia with 20,000 miles that has to have the entire engine replaced! After a 2006 GMC envoy horrible experience it took years for me to even buy a GMC again. The envoy was two years old and transfer, several electrical things, hinges for back door, headlights, pedal adjuster all went out. At 3 years the engine cylinder blew, I had a elevated case with go and they did nothing for me at all when the engine blew! Finally a GMC service manager got the job done and I traded that piece of crap lemon in! Now I have engine problems with yet another GMC? Unbelievable! I either pick winners or all GMC cars stink! I purchased my 2008 GMC Acadia in January of 2012. I loved this vehicle because of the features, space, and overall I thought I could trust GMC. Plus, I was expecting my first baby and thought this would be a great family vehicle. I never noticed that my car charger did not work, thought it was the charger but after 4 of them it turns out it was the truck! The dealership did not want to fix it. Then I noticed there was a noise in the tires, dealership wanted to charge just to look at it. Then, the windows wouldnt go down, now, the darn thing wont start! When I am driving, the truck wont go! This is so darn dangerous and GMC tells me I have to fix it myself because they are not responsible. My truck wont start and its the gas pump that was defective from the get go. I will NEVER buy GMC again. They need to take responsibility for the garbage they sold.

2007/2008 GMC Acadia needs to have its transmission recalled. Like everyone else out there with the early year Acadia and GM clone cars I now have a completely useless transmission. If you havent had issues with yours you soon will. GM customer care is there to listen and then to respond with there is nothing that they are willing to do. The reason for the wave plates breaking is GMs failure to harden the wave plates used within the transmission. An issue they corrected for the 2009 model. After calling around to numerous shops I have been quoted anything from $4200 to $5700 at the dealer. One shop owner told me its his favorite transmission, because its the one that pays his bills. Like I started I cannot believe this has not been recalled, if anyone knows about a class action lawsuit against GM for this issue or would like to pursue one I would be all ears.

Well another big repair needed for my 2010 GMC Acadia. First I had problems with the steering column. Then the core evaporator had to be replaced. Both were major repairs. GMC Paul Sur paid for most of it after I went on their website and complained. Now I need a TMC module and seal replaced. Need throttle service and fuel injector. Total cost parts and labor $1600! Called to get a breakdown for parts $734 and labor $509. Throttle clean $124.95, fuel induction service 139.95. Funny how I took my car in a year ago with the same problem. It was still under warranty. But they said that the codes did not show up at that time. Now its not under warranty and the codes showed up. Really? This is the third major problem Ive had with this car.

Electronic motherboard went out six months in, water pump, eleven months in, intermittent whirring sound (which I was told repeatedly it was a design flaw then once that I needed an oil change). In addition the air conditioner gradually loss cooling then discovered leak in a hose to condenser. Now power steering completely gone and so is air. Of course they are able to find problems now that its all out of warranty. GMC national is no help. They lie and cover up all problems. Think of it as the VA of the auto world.

I bought a used 201 Acadia last February 2016. I had it a month and I started noticing the Service StabiliTrak light coming on. Not only did it come on it reduced my engine power. I took it back from where I bought it and the service department claimed it was some sensor. All was good. About three months after that I had to replace the engine mounts. Now it is almost a year later and the StabiliTrak system is out of control. This time I take it to auto shop and the service tech said it was the battery (which was dying anyway). So I replaced the battery and I had to get the heat fixed too because of some actuator thingy. So I am happy to get my car back the next day. I had to drive an hour from home to work on that Monday and as soon as I made it to parking garage it started again with Service StabiliTrak. SO when I get off 9 hours later I am thinking I can just disengage the system but I could not figure it out. I drove home with hazard lights and prayed it would make it to certified GMC dealership for service. Two days later they say it was the throttle body so I hope when I pick up my vehicle today the issue is resolved.

Roughly 3-5K lower than any other dealers in this town for this car. I jumped on it... Loved the car. 3 kids... Hockey equipment... I was finally in a comfortable car that I can cruise around to every hockey rink in Minnesota.Day #3: Squeaking while breaking. Dealer gave me 4 rotors, 4 new pad. (They covered it). Day #6: Squeaking returns. Some sensor around the wheel was making it squeak. (They covered it). Day #37: Wiper control module goes out. Perfect. Its raining out. And I cant use my wipers. $189. Day #49: Alternator goes out. $775. Day #53: Struts leaking. Shopped online to get some at discount price. $180.00.So its been in the shop 5 times in 54 days. Thats an average of once every 10 days. Are you kidding me? I finally broke down and bought an american car. (Had Honda, Toyota, Nissan before). Im embarrassed to think that when the BOOM in 07-09 hit. And our auto manufacturers were going under. We bailed them out so they could make products like this. Its unreal. I love the look of the car. I love the interior. But Im not going to spend 1K every 50 days on this vehicle to have something else break. Ive contacted GMC and they have apologized that Im having this kind of luck with this car. I drive the GMC Acadia now because my husband got a company car. For me it is a very large SUV to drive. I find it is hard to pull in tight parking spots and the doors are loaded with dings and dents from other car doors parked next to me. I wish they would downsize the width of this SUV. It is too wide for me. If I lived somewhere more spread out and less crowded, this may not be a issue. Other than that, it is very roomy inside and I feel very high up when driving so that gives me the safety feeling.

Thanks to General Motors recall on the Acadia Wave Plate issue I submitted a claim and after a few weeks with some negotiation I got a settlement last week that covered the cost incurred from having to replace the transmission.Thank You GM for the prompt response in my claim! This restores faith in your commitment to quality. I am very happy presently with this recall solution. I may soon be in the market for another vehicle and will again check with GM for possibly another purchase. I know there is still room to improve overall quality and reliability of products so I am changing my rating from 2 stars to 4.Regards, LB

I bought my 2008 Acadia brand new. It has been 95% trouble-free. Small problems, most covered under warranty. Now, with just under 60,000 miles, the transmission has gone bad. My dealer says it will cost $4100.00 to replace with a remanufactured one. I am just sick. This is a $45,000.00 car now worth $13,000. I have been so proud of this car and received so many compliments. It has been a joy and comfort to drive. With all of the bad press and obviously serious manufacturers flaws and cover ups, I am afraid to even consider buying another Acadia.

Now my alternator ($1000 to replace at dealer)! And the service lights keep coming on - the dealer wants $200 just to tell me why! This car has been a lemon since the day I bought it. I purchased my 2009 GMC Acadia from the dealer 15 mos ago. There was no problems until my headlights started flickering. I carried to the dealership to find out my HID lights have melted the casing so I had to get a headlight assembly that which cost $1373.04. They said that it was not covered under the warranty. It shouldve been electrical. Why? Its HID lights get hot enough to melt the casing. There should be a recall on those.

I have owned more than 10 vehicles in my lifetime and the last seven have been new from dealer. This Acadia is the worst vehicle I have owned, new or old. Just over 30,000 it was burning oil excessively and the dealership could not figure it out. Numerous times at shop and still no fix. By the time we got to 70,000 GM had to re-ring the engine and replace the major of other sensors and components. I have probably spent over $3,000 in additional costs that were not covered by the GM Warranty or the GM extended warranty we purchased when buying the Acadia. Its Amazing how convenient it was that every problem we had was not covered by the extended warranty. Regardless the engine is a problem GM cannot figure it out. Google GM Acadia engine problems and you will have hours of reading in front of you. All with a common theme, the engine is a complete piece of garbage that you will be lucky to get 100,000 out of... Most of them seize around 50,000 to 70,000 and GM will NOT cover the repair under warranty. They simply will not take ownership to this problem so do yourself a favor and avoid this headache completely. This is my 4th GMC and without a doubt my last. I will never buy another GM Product for rest of my life which hurts me to write because I have 3 kids I have been preaching Buy American to all their lives. Now that my wife and I are buying the kids the first cars, it will greatly reduce the dealerships we have to look at. I have to clarify that the reason I will never buy a GM product again has very little to do with the Acadia I own. It has to do with the entire fleet and the fact that GM knows its an inherent problem with this Engine but wont take ownership. My engine that has been burning engine since 30,000 needs new heads and valves due to wear from lack of oil, a problem I pointed out in the first 2 years. GM does not think its their problem and they offered me $3000 towards a new car. My car is 4 years old and they want me to trash it. If that is GM customer loyalty, then I need to find a new manufacturer of automobiles. Save yourself the countless trips to the service dept because this vehicle is a problem child that burns oil and your hard earned dollars.

We have had multiple problems with our 2008 GMC Acadia. The one that we will be bringing it in for for the 3rd time is a leaky sunroof. In hard rains, it leaks internally leaving us with a very soaked passenger side floor and electrical issues - the first time the car wouldnt shut off even after removing the key. Ive researched this and have found multiple complaints from this model year and others. The dealership claims its not a manufacturers problem. The first time I brought it in and told them the issue (leaking sunroof), they claimed the water was coming up from underneath the car. I went to pick it up on a day with heavy rain. Before leaving the dealership, I tried turning it off and it continued to run even with the key removed - service person was very embarrassed especially after I told him the issue and they said I was wrong. Took it in again with the same problems and they said the sunroof drain was clogged. That was last fall. Today we had a hard rain. The floor is soaked again. My biggest complaint is the dealership/manufacturer not owning up to the problem. As I said, there are numerous blogs with the same complaints, but they wont own up to it. I hate even looking at them, i.e., dealership, any more.

Only good for the first 15,000 miles. Factory tires are a joke and made with softer rubber. GM is aware and it was the discretion of the dealership to share the info. At 18,000 miles I had 4 bald tires. They cover a portion of it under warranty. The tire guy has to call Michelin with the mileage and size of tread - if any. We did get 70% off new ones. Two days later I started experiencing the SHIFT TO PARK error. Its in park and I try to shut it off but it doesnt register being in park. This prevents the car from locking and causes nonstop dinging that will ultimately drain your battery. You have to turn it on/off again multiple times, jiggle the stick, hit the brake until it magically decides its good. It now happens EVERY time I shut it down. There is no fix. Again GM is aware and left it to the discretion of the dealership to share the info. Now Im stuck in a lease for a PITA car that I cant properly use. Save yourself the headache - buy something else!
