Purchased a used with 50000 miles 2009 Acadia. All routine PM completed on Acadia. First problem occurred at 75000 miles. Transmission began to slip, felt like engine missing, then reverse went out, heard a pop. There is a plate in there that snapped. GMC replaced the Tranny. Happy for that. Second problem 76000 miles, O2 sensors changed, 102$ each. Next the converters failed. Replaced the front and I gutted the rear one. Engine light stayed on but ran fine a little rich. Converters are 450-560$. Next problem the passenger door window not working fixed myself. Next problem the rear hatch collapsed on my wifes back and her back is broken due to this. Next problem, the power steering pump went out, it would work fine then stop all of a sudden. My wife and I were constantly avoiding wrecks due to this. Take the Acadia to dealer for recall. They tell me they need to see if the number on the pump is the recalled one. Im like, Well its bad so... must be... A week later... The service guy tells me, Well your strut is out, your motor mounts are bad, and your rack and pinion need to be replaced. Its leaking oil. They had Acadia for a week and still did not look at the pump. I take it home, replace the rack and pinion and both struts, the motor mounts were not bad at all. I take it back to the dealer and tell him, Ok, here. Check to see if the pump is the recall one. He calls me two days later says to me, Until you replace the rack and pinion we cant check the pump. I blow my fuse, tell him not very nicely the parts I replaced. I take Acadia home then order a pump on eBay 150$. Change it myself in a hour. CURRENT problem, fill up with gas Acadia dies in the middle of my left turn in traffic. Get help tow it home. I checked fuel pressure it was low so I changed the fuel pump myself 150$, and put brand new plugs in it. Before I send to dealer I had friend who is a mechanic put code computer on it, throws 6 codes over and over. I research web, says code related to timing chain stretched. I send to dealer telling them the codes. They call me next day say, Your plugs are black, burnt up. I say, That is brand new plugs. Never ran with them. How can they be burnt up? Then he says, Ill put factory set in and try again. Calls me back says, Well I have real bad news, we ran a oil analysis on the Acadia and you have signs of metal in your oil. Then tells me the rear converter got sucked into the engine (the one I gutted out) and caused the crank shaft and pistons to fail, and I need a engine. Also tells me they got the Acadia running but it would not go over 1500 rpm. So Im like, Well you just told me the engine was running but not over 1500 rpm, how can the crank shaft and pistons be bad if this is the case? Far as the oil and metal all oil will have trace of metal at this mileage its called wear. I am so disgusted with this dealership and GMC in general. I will never buy anything GMC makes again. 37,000$ AND WE DROVE THE CAR FOR ONLY 70,000 MILES.This is Courtesy GMC in Broussard LA. Do not go there people. Every time this service guy talks to me about my car it is all lies. I dont think they even looked into the converter, if they did they would have seen it was gutted completely. My main gripe is how they jump to these conclusions so fast without getting in there and working on things. Its like they see one thing and stop and blame everything on that one issue which has for me been never the main problem with this Acadia.

I bought a brand new 2014 Acadia in December. It is now August and I have had 3 different problems. When the car was 6 weeks old, my car died in a parking lot (leaving me blocking parked cars) in 20 degree weather with my 3 year old in the car. After being towed to the dealership, I was told that I didnt have any fuel in the tank although it said I had 54 miles to empty (OnStar confirmed). This was found to be a problem with the reading in the tank and shortly after became a recall. Two months later I started hearing a crunching sound in the tires when I turned a corner. This ended up being some belt that wasnt getting the right amount of fluid so it snapped. That repair took three days so I had to have a rental car... even though I paid top dollar for a brand new car, I was riding around in a rental car. At this point, I was very frustrated but still loved the look and roominess of this vehicle. During the summer I started hearing a squealing when I turned the air conditioner on. Within days I was getting no cold air on very hot days. The dealership could not find a leak but recharged it and sent me home. Within a week and a half the squealing started again... clearly a problem! So I called to report it but was leaving for vacation the next day so made an appointment for the day I got back. I took it in and they ran a light over the system to see if there was a leak... no leak found and sent me home. Within two days while driving with my children in the car, we could not get any cold air and it was a very hot, humid day. Now Im riding around in my new car with my windows down sweating. I called right away and was told that my car would not give as much cold air while idling (what??) and that the air conditioner might not be able to keep up with the humidity! Really, are you kidding me? Why did I pay this much for a car that cannot keep me cold when its hot all summer? They told me to bring it back in and they would run the light over it again. I didnt have a day that I could stop and it had cooled off outside so I was getting colder air...so apparently my brand new car really cant handle humidity... What a piece of junk! So, its hot again (over 90 degrees) and we literally cant breathe in the car. It is blowing hot air when its humid out. My husband called and spoke with the service manager who said he would call back which he did... 9 hours later and left a voice mail. He said they would run a light over it and if it didnt show a leak there was nothing they could do about it and the car could only cool to 64 degrees in this humidity level. Another joke, it never got to 64 degrees, more like 84 degrees blowing on us and if it says 60 thats what it should get to. Another person that tells me my car cant handle the humidity. Its going in today to have another checkup with the light. Is it only me or could the system just not work properly? How could we pay so much and have such a problematic car... so frustrated!!

We bought a used 2009 GMC Acadia from a private owner less than a year ago
We bought a used 2009 GMC Acadia from a private owner less than a year ago and weve already dumped $6000 into it. The transmission is the main & most recent thing to be replaced. My transmission went out at 130K. I lost 3rd gear 4th gear and reverse and had my 2 kids under age 2 in the car with me. Weve had the new transmission in for about a month and already its missing and jerking as it shifts. There is also a continual issue with acceleration while turning left, it sound like metal vibrating together or clattering in the engine that gets increasingly louder as you accelerate and the power seems to bog down at the same time. Seems every time I take it to the shop they replace this or that (I cant remember the long list of specific things) and it drives fine for a few weeks and then these same problems start happening again. Im taking it to a GM dealership next week - hoping they can do a better job of pinpointing the issues than our local mechanic. At this point I want to get rid of it but we just put in the new transmission, my husband thinks we need to keep it forever but Im certain its nothing but an expensive headache. I love the cosmetic features of this vehicle and the upgrades but the engine sucks! So disappointed, I will NEVER recommend this vehicle to anyone.

GMC Acadia - Good morning! My husband and I purchased this vehicle in 2007 and it caught on fire within the month. Then, again the same thing happened, and then they had to replace something, and something else, and something else. I met with the area person in charge of working out these issues who gave me coverage until next June, and now again I am experiencing another problem. The ignition won’t turn all the way to allow the key to come out. Please do not get me wrong, the employees are very wonderful, but wonderful will not solve my problem. Please, how can you help me? God bless you and thank you so very much.

I purchased an 07 Acadia two years ago with 80k miles and a 3 year warranty
I purchased an 07 Acadia two years ago with 80k miles and a 3 year warranty. Within the first month the transmission had to be repaired (SUV wouldnt go over 20 mph, wouldnt switch gears). The extended warranty covered the $3600 expense. Vehicle was in the shop for over a month. A few months later the steering was messed up and hissing loudly. The whole dash had to be taken out and I received new steering column amongst other things. Over $1500 repair covered by warranty. A few months later vehicle overheats, engine power is reduced. Cant drive vehicle. Not covered under warranty. Several hundred $$$ bill. Tire sensor light bad. Too much $ to fix. Still drivable. Few months later engine starts back-firing, driving very poorly. Every possible dash light is illuminated. Stabilitrak, traction control, engine, service all-wheel-drive (no oil light)- engine power reduced. Vehicle wont drive.Took it to GMC (who now knows me by first name but still screws me over every chance they get) and they said oil needed changed, after they did $200 in diagnostics. $300 later, I was out the door with no lights illuminated on the dash and a smooth running GMC. Got a lecture about the oil and how important it is to keep it changed and full. One month later ding ding ding- service traction control, engine power reduced. Car wont go! Checked the oil- it was still full. I still had plenty of miles left to go before my next oil change. Restarted the car- no lights. Drove fine except engine light on and remote start will not work when this light is on. A couple weeks later it happened again and now happens multiple times in one short trip. The vehicle cannot be safely driven in fear of this happening on a busy highway or while driving across the bridge with no emergency lane. Ive heard (and believe) its the sensor. However, Im so beyond sick and tired of this crap. The vehicle is nowhere near paid off and it wont run half the time. It hasnt ran well since I bought it. Problem after problem after problem. When I look online there are tons and tons of the same complaints. These Acadias are LEMONS. I have never in my life had so many issues with a vehicle, especially that even the dealers couldnt figure out what the problem was. Not sure how or why there isnt a class-action lawsuit. These vehicles are unsafe to drive. Has anyone contacted GMC corporate? SO INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTED!

I called GMC for roadside assistance. They took my information & payment, made me wait for 3+ hrs for help & then they cancelled my order without notifying me. I called them back to complain & their response: we will be returning your money back within 3 to 5 days & that i should call the police. GMC needs to stand by their products & services. You need to hire well qualified, trained & reliable staff and/or business partners. This was unprofessional & deceiving to the consumer. My complaints will be recorded with the BBB, Consumer Affairs & Federal Trade Commission. The consumer shouldnt have to go thru this nightmare. If you cant do the job then say that you cant do it. Be honest for once. Word of advise to ALL reading this: DO NOT CALL for GMC roadside assistance - no one will come to help you. Call your insurance company and use their roadside assistance - it FREE and they helped me in 30 min. Hope things will change.

2007 Acadia. The transmission went out at 125000 miles. It was replaced at certified GM dealership at the cost of 3961.22 Dec. 2014. In March, I received a letter from GMC that some 2007 have experienced a cracked or fractured wave plate. This was the exact problem with my car. GMC will not reimburse us for the repair because of the mileage, even though they are aware of the faulty part. I dont understand how GM can expect loyal customers when they wont take care of us!! Please be sure to post your problems on GM Facebook page.

Well another big repair needed for my 2010 GMC Acadia. First I had problems with the steering column. Then the core evaporator had to be replaced. Both were major repairs. GMC Paul Sur paid for most of it after I went on their website and complained. Now I need a TMC module and seal replaced. Need throttle service and fuel injector. Total cost parts and labor $1600! Called to get a breakdown for parts $734 and labor $509. Throttle clean $124.95, fuel induction service 139.95. Funny how I took my car in a year ago with the same problem. It was still under warranty. But they said that the codes did not show up at that time. Now its not under warranty and the codes showed up. Really? This is the third major problem Ive had with this car.

Ive purchased a 2007 GMC Acadia that has been dangerous when driving in the heavy rain. The car will lose control and wobble and the power steering doesnt work while the car swerves and the traction light goes on. Ive almost been in a few dangerous accidents because of this problem with the kids in the car. Ive taken this car in for recalls that the company has sent me but none was for power steering. Every time I ask them to address and fix this issue, they ignore the question saying that its something else. The power steering also makes a moaning whining noise when turning.

I called GM because my 2008 GMC Acadia SLT FWD car is completely out of commission and was told to get a diagnostic from a local GMC Dealer and I had to pay for it out of pocket. But why would I take my car to a GM dealer to tell me my car’s problem isnt a recall related problem? I refuse to give you any of my money! I am very disappointed! The woman from GM said theres not any recalls on this vehicle but my seat belt chime wont stop dinging, my car wont drive at all, my RPM gauge is revving past 4, the power steering is very tight and locks up turning corners and parking. Thank god I wasnt driving on the highway when this started, it wouldve been a very bad accident. I cant believe this. I wouldnt have thought a reputable company would have invested in excellent parts and genuine work. I would never recommend GM nor will I ever waste my money on any of their vehicles again.

We purchased a used 2008 GMC Acadia from Carl Black in Roswell, GA. At 60,000 miles, transmission had to be rebuilt. At 97,000 miles Solenoid valve and transmission control module assembly replaced. Carl Black tried to rip me off. Originally quoted $1800 to repair. After I told them I was taking car to my trusted mechanic, repair went to $400. I was still ripped off as I signed pages of warranty receipts when I picked up car. Now less than a year later, Stabilitrak light is on. Car only has 108,000 miles. This is the third major repair in three years. I am through with GMC and Carl Black forever. Almost forgot, sunroof leaks.

We bought our 2012 GMC Acadia brand new in 2012. Fast forward to now 2015..
We bought our 2012 GMC Acadia brand new in 2012. Fast forward to now 2015....and a stack of paperwork connected to all of the recalls and repairs that we have had on this crap SUV. I have come to know the service manager at the GMC dealership on a first name basis. Our troubles began with the numerous recalls on airbags. Each time they had it in the shop for a recall they found more issues that needed to be replaced/fixed. For example on a routine oil change they found that the oil was spewing all over the engine drive shaft so they replaced the seal to that. I am not sitting in front of all of my paperwork right now as it is in the glove box of our Acadia that now sits at the dealership getting more extensive repairs done on it. Last week I was getting in my car to take my son to practice and noticed a loud weeeeeering sound when I started the car. It would get louder upon my accelerating. I called the GM dealership to tell them of the sound and they said I can bring it in to the dealership in the morning. So we drop it off to let them diagnose the issue. We leave in one of their rental cars only to get a phone call an hour later telling us that they found the car to not register that it had any power steering fluid. Upon further investigation they see that the pump/seal burst causing some axle now to need to be replaced and the power steering pump needed replaced as well. All for a whopping 1800.00! The service manager said he spoke to GM and they agreed to cover 75% of the costs for this. Weird but ok. Then on the day we are suppose to go pick up the Acadia they call us to tell us the truck is still making the weeeeering sound and so they looked further and now the alternator needs replaced too! Are you freaking kidding me!????? This car has 49,000 miles on it! It is kept in a garage all day/night. The oil is changed regularly. WTH! We drive this car to basically run kids around town. Thats it! I am NEVER in my life going to buy another GM vehicle! I will forever be loyal to my Hondas!!!!! GM your Acadia should be taken off the floor and revamped completely! We are a family who bought a brand new vehicle so we could have piece of mind and not worry about if our SUV would break down and nickel and dime us. We will trade this car off ASAP and never look back (unless a class action law suit comes to surface). We would happily join in on any lawsuit going on if there is one. In fact we may contact one anyway to see what our options might be.

Bought a 2009 gmc Acadia in 2010 that was supposed to be an execs vehicle. Paid over 50k when said and done. We have 17 pages of repairs already. Steering was replaced 5 times and is making the same clicking but gmc feels I should pay to fix it. Whenever we gas up the truck wont start. They force you to do all kinds of bs maintenance to keep your warranty which ironically never covers the issues or parts needed. In addition there have been at least 9 recalls in 5 years. Will never buy a Gmc vehicle again.

In April of 2012, my husband and I decided to purchase a brand new 2012 GMC Acadia. Since then we have been taking this car to dealership for different problem. First, we felt the engine shake multiple times, especially in the morning when we first start the car and sometimes when shifting gears, dealership said no problem with transmission. In less than 2 years, our headlights went out and that had to be replaced. Buttons on dashboard already peeling off, gas tank sensor is off, it stops filling up before tank is full. It has been raining in California, 2-3 days of rain, we start the car, and there is completely no sound coming out of the speaker. We take the car to the dealership and they say that water accumulated somewhere in the sunroof and did not drain and caused electrical to short circuit. They want $1600 to fix. I really thought this car was great, size was perfect for my family, but unfortunately, I was wrong.

I purchased my 2014 GMC Acadia Denali from Dutton Buick from Riverside CA.
I purchased my 2014 GMC Acadia Denali from Dutton Buick from Riverside CA. I traveled to purchase my car because I was unable to find exactly what I was looking for in my hometown. I drove 5 hours from my hometown. This car is a certified pre-owned car and purchased from an actual GMC Dealer so I thought I was making a wise decision and would run into any issues. I purchased my car and drove home. I was in the shop 2 days later. The motor in the A/C blew out. I thought, no problem, I would have no issues having it repaired since it a certified pre-owned car. I get the dealer in my hometown Fresno Buick and GMC dealer only to find out my car was never registered as a certified pre-owned car.So I had to go through the process and a few days without a car with A/C in 95 degree heat. Since then I have been in the shop month after month with issues with the car, 12 times to be exact. This car has been a headache since day one, literally. From motor mounts, control arms, bushings, electrical issues and a banging noise under the driver floor and a clank when I turn my wheel to make a U-turn which I have been told that its normal for these cars. I have finally decided to do some research about purchasing a Lemon Car and found GMC Lemon Law. I opened my case June 5, 2018. It has been about a month and a half and I have not seen any progress with my case. Laura (not sure of her last name) has been the one to handle my case. I called her twice before she finally called me back 3 weeks after I filed my case. She said she was sorry but has had a hectic few weeks. Which meant she had not even started my case. I contacted GMC Fresno and MaryAnn (the office assistant) showed me that she first contacted them on June 20th. 15 days after I opened my case. Since then Laura has called back and will return calls when I do call but basically to tell me that there is no progress. She is extremely rude, she cuts me off and will not let me complete my sentences, she raises her voice at me and states that there is nothing more to tell me and have a good day Mrs. **, have a good day and hangs up on me. She repeatedly tell me that it is not an overnight process. I completely understand that it is not an overnight process nor did I expect that but It has been 6 weeks and still has no new information for me. No one can tell me what stage or place in line I am. I ask to speak to a manager and she says she cannot transfer me but will put in a request, then she stated she did not because she called me back and apologized (so she knew she was being rude) so I assume she thought that I was fine with her horrible attitude. She has reacted this way twice and I am not going to allow that. I am not asking for a lot when I ask for an approx time for my case to be evaluated.I think I have been very patient with GMC as far as the hassles and inconvenience I have had to endure since purchasing my car from a GMC Dealer and was told it was a pre-owned certified vehicle. This car has been a hassle and in the shop on monthly basis since I purchased it, literally the next day after I purchased it. GMC should be ashamed that a person has to turn to GMC Lemon Law in the first place and then has associates such as Laura working for them. Also, I have tried to have this handled with the GMC dealer that I purchased it from which was Dutton Buick and GMC dealer in Riverside California. Alexa, their shop manager told me to drive it to them and they would look at it for $159.I explained to her that I live 5 hours away and all the stress and cost Ive already had put into this car because it was not inspected properly and she basically told me, the cost of the inspection was my responsibility and It was up to me if I wanted to drive it there. I have suffered enough with this car and now the suffering and unsatisfactory continues with the people they choose to hire. I cant express how much I am dissatisfied with GMC and how they treat their customers. I am requesting my case worker be changed, I do not want to speak to Laura again, she is unprofessional and rude and should not be working in customer service if she cannot handle frustrated customers, basically she cannot handle her job.I have requested twice for her to connect me with her manager and I have not yet received a phone call. I have also called in and requested a manager call me back through the customer service line and still have not received a phone call from anyone. My next step will be a lawyer and contacting the Automotive Bureau. I strongly, strongly would not recommend this company to anyone.

We have had multiple problems with our 2008 GMC Acadia. The one that we will be bringing it in for for the 3rd time is a leaky sunroof. In hard rains, it leaks internally leaving us with a very soaked passenger side floor and electrical issues - the first time the car wouldnt shut off even after removing the key. Ive researched this and have found multiple complaints from this model year and others. The dealership claims its not a manufacturers problem. The first time I brought it in and told them the issue (leaking sunroof), they claimed the water was coming up from underneath the car. I went to pick it up on a day with heavy rain. Before leaving the dealership, I tried turning it off and it continued to run even with the key removed - service person was very embarrassed especially after I told him the issue and they said I was wrong. Took it in again with the same problems and they said the sunroof drain was clogged. That was last fall. Today we had a hard rain. The floor is soaked again. My biggest complaint is the dealership/manufacturer not owning up to the problem. As I said, there are numerous blogs with the same complaints, but they wont own up to it. I hate even looking at them, i.e., dealership, any more.

Engine sputtering - recall - internal engine repair. Power steering noise - recall - repaired issue. Only one light works - no issue with the actual lights. Issue unresolved after John Miles GMC in Conyers was unable to troubleshoot the issue. Issue remains. Starter will not shut off - current repair appointment with non-dealer mechanic. Guess well see. I purchased my 2010 GMC Acadia in the summer of 2010. Since then Ive been in love with my SUV and still am until May 2013 when my Air Conditioner stop working. According to the dealer (where I always take my vehicle) they says its the Condenser which cost $848.84. After the repair everything was great and I was COOL. Until September 2015 when there is another problem with my AC thats going to cost $2211.00 to fix. What in the hell. Contact GMC Inc. After several emails no calls over the phone just emails. They told me they are unable to help me but my dealer at Ourisman of Alexandria VA will help out with some coupons. Spoke to someone today 06 October 2015. The only help they would help me is $200. I know I should be happy but it still have to come out of my pocket with a lot more money when I just knew my problem was fixed with the last amount. Now 2 years later I have another issues with the AC. Not asking for the bill to be paid in full (GMC has more money than me) but a little more help than $200 would have been much appreciated. HELP. HELP.

I never paid attention to my expense on fixing the GMC Acadia 2009 since I bought it brand new. This car has been a pain in my rear end. Since I bought the car, I have changed the timing belt, put a new transmission, and two years ago, the engine stopped. The vehicle was towed to a GM dealership for repair. The mechanic told my wife that the engine is full of sludge and needed to be replaced. He also told my wife that the reason the vehicle was in a bad shape was because we never took care of the vehicle. My wife called me and explained what the GM service agent told her. I called the guy and had him pull the service record on the vehicle which was under my name. It was then that the service guy realized that since we bought the vehicle, they had been servicing the vehicle for us. I reminded him that whatever was wrong with the car was caused by them since they have been the maintenance personnel from jump street. He then fixed the vehicle and that cost us about 2000 dollars instead of 5000 dollars and change that they quoted my wife. Now the vehicle had check engine check light come on. We took the vehicle to the mechanic to figure out why the light came on. After their diagnoses, he told us that they had to change the Ignition coil, spark plugs, Intake gasket kit e.t.c. This whole thing cost me $1,999.51. Before I picked up the vehicle, the low oil pressure light came on. They checked the oil and it was full. They drained it, flushed the lines and storage place for the oil two times and after driving the vehicle for a quarter of a mile, the low oil pressure light came back on. They finally told me that it was a sludge problem. I called GMC and reported the problem for them to tell me to take it to the same GM group that told me two years ago to change the engine for a new engine. The kicker is that now that Ive paid off the note on the car, with a new engine it would have another 100,000 mile warranty. And it would cost me $7500.00 dollars to do that. GM knows what they are doing and they take our money and take us for a fool. I wish someone could advise on how to take this people to court and make them pay for their wickedness. We cannot continue to pay for junk.

Had a two door Honda and needed and wanted something bigger for car seats. Love how roomy the GMC Acadia is. Didnt want a minivan so this was a nice compromise. Bought used but it has been a great car for our growing family. Easy to purchase at the dealership. I wish it had bucket seats and changing the battery could be a little easier. Why is it in my floorboard in the backseat where my daughter sits?!

Bought new in November of 2007. Have had major issues 3 times with the power steering. The automatic transmission was repaired twice and replaced twice with only 79000 miles on the vehicle. Guess what? The transmission is going out again after a total replacement about a year ago. Does GMC have a problem with the transmission? Oh yes!!! Will they do anything about it? Probably not. Will I do anything about it, Oh yes!!! I will NEVER buy another GM product again. The last transmission replacement was on my nickle after the extended warranty expired. GMC needs to expire. Oh and the radio entertainment system only plays in the right front speaker now, another common problem GMC refuses to acknowledge. This was a vehicle that we wanted to own for 200,000 miles. Maybe if we keep rebuilding it and a truck load of cash. Stay away from GMC. No run away, very far away.

I have loved the 2017 GMC Acadia. I had a wonderful experience so far. It drives very smooth, it has a ton of space to fit my family, and has a luxurious feel to it. We have 5 kids, three of which are teens. They require a lot of space for all of their activities and this car provides me with the space to fit everything. We also travel a great deal so space is important. A couple of the accessories pop out every now and again so that could be better. One of the air vents falls down occasionally, as well as one of the rivets on the headrest, but they pop back in. Other than that, we have put a ton of miles on the car and the only problem we have had is that we need to change the tires.

First and foremost, if you are going to buy this vehicle make sure it is still under the 36k mileage. If it is not, GMC and all of your local dealers will do absolutely nothing. Not only nothing, they will charge you a service fee to do nothing. 2 issues that we are having with this vehicle. #1 Put in park to turn off... Shifting assembly is junk. Most go bad before the 36k warranty... Mine went bad at literally 37229. #2 The wheels are delaminating. The previous owner must have been lazy because over 10% of all 4 wheels are delaminating. I made a huge incorrect assumption that GMC would cover a vehicle that is barely a year old. Again, I was incorrect. Never again GMC. Will never again buy a piece of junk. I will stick to the foreign makers from now on. You have seen your last dollar from me. Run away people. Crappy customer service.

My 09 Acadia has had so many problems - I wish I never bought it. The timing chain has been replaced THREE times! Once at 26k miles, once at 83k miles and now again at 111k miles. In addition to that...there have been so many other issues (tranny has been taken apart and rebuilt twice). GMC offers coverage up to 120k miles on the chain, but I wasnt aware of that when I took it to my shop. Now they wont even help cover any of the costs when I provide full, detailed, back up. I love the car when its running, but Id suggest to stay away from Acadia. Theyre really garbage.

I unfortunately own 2 GMC Acadias a 2009 and a 2011. I bought them in the same year due to our old vehicles breaking down. I wish I had the old rusty vehicles back. I work on these 2 vehicles constantly. On the 2009 Acadia I have replaced the transmission, water pump, throttle body, radio amplifier, hood support, steering rack inner and outer tie rods, sway bars, strut assemblies, spark plugs, gas cap, and the list goes on. It is sitting in the driveway now since it has a jerking power issue when we dropped the kids off at school this morning. The 2011 has not been as bad yet but has also had a new water pump, and I cannot get the steering wheel to stop vibrating when driving on the expressway even after getting the wheels balanced rotated and anything else I could think of.

I purchased a 2010 GMC Acadia from the dealer for $47,927.20 on 1 February 2010. In October of 2011, I had Major work done on the vehicle. The Engine check light came and the vehicle started making a rattle noise in the morning. The dealer informed me that the cause was internal failure, (code J0778). In fact, means secondary camshaft intermediate drive chain tensioner replacement - right side needed. These problems continue for another year, resulting in a replacement of an engine, water pump and a transmission. This problem still exists and vehicle is not safe to drive out of town. GMC offered me a $6000 rebate on a trade-in on another Acadia. No thanks, still fighting.

I have a 2008 GMC Acadia, bought new and now only have 49,154 miles on it and the transmission has gone out. The dealership wants $4200 to take it out and put a refurb in, no opening it up or looking at it. GM says they wont recognize that there is a problem with their Acadias and the transmissions and refuse to recall costing consumers thousands! GM is willing to put $1200 towards the fix but they require that it is opened up and looked at before fixing. Once that happens they will decide whether it is repaired or a refurb is put in. But this takes my rights away. If they choose it gets fixed, then it comes with a 12,000 mile/1 year warranty. If it is replaced then it comes with a 100,000 mile/3 year warranty. I dont get to make this decision though if I accept their terms. What kind of help is this? Everywhere I have read, it will only be a matter of time before the transmission goes out again. :( Also to note, we have had to replace both headlights for wiring issues, replace the water pump, and have all the seals replaced in the moon roof and sun roof!

The engine switched off while I am driving my 2010 Acadia on the 2nd of September 2012. Fortunately, I was driving in a service road on low speed so I handled the situation. However, I recovered the car to Ras Al Khor service center where they kept the car for over than 6 working days to resolve the issue, which is as per their diagnoses was a wiring problem led to electricity short in the car. They handed over the car to me on 10th of September under supervision of Mr. **, delivery coordinator who confirmed that the issue is resolved. However, last Tuesday, 2nd of October, I was driving my car when the engine switched off again without any sign. I would assure you that it’s only my good luck that I wasn’t driving my car on high speed and I luckily handled the situation in both incidents. I really lost the trust in my car which I directly bought from GMC and did all the services through your service centers. Mr. ** (the service manager) assured me that he will personally take care of my car problem and he will call me back, which he didn’t. And till now, nobody called me and all I got are false promises.

2012 GMC Acadia Denali - I went into the GMC dealer to purchase a Yukon Hybrid. I was told that they were discontinued for the 2013 model year and was recommended to look at an Acadia Denali because it had more room than a Yukon and got much better gas mileage. Boy what a mistake! I had also been entertaining the idea of a Yukon XL (think Suburban) because I wanted to make sure I had plenty of room for my growing family. I was led down a path of cost savings on fuel with the Acadia. It was posted 22 HWY and 17 City. With our mixed driving, I expected to get on the worst day - maybe 17. Instead I get 13 MPG! They tell me nothing is wrong! Please! I rent Suburbans when I travel (I rent about 100 times a year!) and I consistently get 15 MPG or better - with so much extra room! Now I am stuck with another 30 payments for this lemon.

I bought a GMC Acadia in 2009 brand new. It was nice as all new cars. I meticulously maintained it and even ensured to buy the extended warranty when purchased. If you are keeping count thats almost a total of $48k. So my transmission decides to fail at 72348 and I contact the dealer to be told that myvehicle is not covered by the manufacturer warranty or extended warranty as of 4 months ago. REALLLY! Then every possible shop I have spoken to has suggested that the transmission should not have failed at that mileage. Seems like I was doomed from the day I purchased this vehicle. I contacted GM corporate office to see if they would assist at least with parts and I pay labor. NADA. No help. Save your money; do not BUY ANY GM BRAND. Now I guess I understand why Toyota, Honda, and Nissan are normally better buys. If you have an original warranty stating drive train etc. for 100000 miles, you should honor it. I AM AT 28000 MILES SHY OF THAT. WHY SHOULD I PAY $3000 FOR A TRANSMISSION? ANSWER ME THAT GM AKA PROFESSIONAL GRADE!

It has not given off any codes and I have had it checked out by two mechanics. The problem is getting worse! Without a code and the lack of anything obvious, it cannot be resolved. The last time I took it in, the transmission fluid was low, which makes me wonder with all of the posts on transmissions going bad in Acadias, if it could be my transmission. I do not know what to do and am writing this in hopes someone has had similar issues and can share your experience and maybe your end result! HELP!!!

I own a 2013 GMC Acadia. The issue is this - upon initial start and driving within the first 600 ft there is transmission calibration noises which range from a light bumping noise to a major thud. The other day I was driving most more than 30 km and the transmission make a thud - sounded like I hit a boulder on the road. We immediately pulled the vehicle over to look for an obstruction on the road. There was nothing - not even a pothole. The GMC dealer where we have our vehicle service and was purchased from have not been able to come up with any diagnosis for this problem. They have acknowledged verbal that there is an issue - however the service report comes up clean. What a joke. We paid and are paying real money for this vehicle and it should run properly. Repairs need to be done and yet nothing has been to say Im disappointed is an understatement. It seems to me that the challenges are the fact that no one in North America can actually build a reliable vehicle that will run for longer than a mop head from China. Maybe we should start manufacturing there - at least then we could afford to replace a vehicle every 20 thousand kilometer.

General Motors executives should have their family members drive this piece of crap and experience what the rest of the Acadia owners experience: Timing chains replaced at 40,000 miles, Steering assembly replaced at 55,000 miles, transmission failure at 120,000 mile, wiring harness fire, and now the transmission failure again at 173,000 miles. While the timing chains and the first transmission were repaired at GMs dollar (goodwill), they called it even though they had a recall on the transmission after mine was repaired. They now want $1620 to repair a fouled solenoid valve in the transmission. Its fouled with oil, in a closed system, that while it could have been caused from when they repaired the transmission the first time, they state the high mileage is the cause??? Its a Closed System; they repaired and fouled ports in a solenoid valve. This is another reason I will not in my lifetime buy any General Motors product again. They do not stand behind their products, let alone have family members drive them.

I purchased a used 2008 GMC Acadia in May 2017. Ever since I purchased this vehicle I have had nothing but problems. I purchased this vehicle because my daughter is a senior in high school and I knew that we would be needing it to travel from state to state for college tours. Ever since I purchased we have not been able to travel because of the continuous light to come on, continuous codes that comes on and it causes the car to run horribly. I am spending $20-$30 a day on gas and Im also noticing that the oil is just evaporating but Im not seeing it on the ground. I continue to take it to the mechanic. He continue to fix things that the codes gives him. Im still spending money and Im still not getting any results.I have not been able to travel in this vehicle because I refuse to get on the highway with my child and breakdown in the middle of nowhere. What we need to do is start a petition with GMC because if everyone is having these problems then it is a serious problem. I am to the point where I am ready to start a lawsuit. I mean lets be honest. What are we waiting for. Either us or one of our loved ones to die and is known death trap. There are so many recalls on this vehicle that all of them should be just called in and repaired. Apparently its a problem with GMC assembling the vehicle and they do not want to own up to their responsibilities and its not fair to us that our lives are at stake. Im also tired of the ongoing altercations with the mechanic and my money that I keep on spending.

We purchased the vehicle brand new. We began having problems immediately back and forth reporting issues. Beaman could not detect or duplicate the issues other than the recall problems. Ex of problems ranged from numerous recalls windshield, lights, condensation, time chain, and repeated issues with the transmission. The vehicle was under warranty. The problems with the vehicle continued. In 2012 the vehicle was paid off and warranty close to expiring. In May 2012 we left the vehicle with Beaman (transmission) while out of town. We picked up the vehicle and was told they could not duplicate the issue. Beaman advised us the vehicle was design to run and function that way. The following week the vehicle stopped. It was towed to another GM dealership. My second complaint to GM on May 16, 2012 - warranty expired. The service team determined the issue. Software components were damaged tied to the transmission required replacing. The service manager was able to convince GM to pay. My case Id still open. In 2007 when the first Acadia came out, I fell in love with it and its body style. We bought one and had very few problems, other than normal wear and tear. When we traded it in for a 2012 Terrain, there were 115,000 miles on the Acadia. We should have kept it rather than downsize to the Terrain. The Terrain, was not a problem either, but after having it for 16 months, I decided that I wanted another Acadia, which is what we did a week ago tomorrow. Never having had any major problems with the first Acadia, I thought surely the 2014 would be better, 7 years later. However, I was wrong. The past weekend, my husband and I drove to Louisiana for a funeral. On our ride there, the car ran smooth and no apparent problems were recognized. However, while away, on our way to the grave site the SUV began to shake and jerk, also making loud noises. It felt as if we were on a bucking horse. After about twenty minutes of this, it began to run smoothly again. Later that evening, the jerking began again, just not as long this time. On our way back home after driving possibly the first 75 miles, the jerking began a third time. That time it only lasted for about 10 miles, and did not repeat the action any more. When the jerking began, the Stability Trac signal came on. We had had similar problems with the first Acadia, but that did not begin until we had put 60,000 or more miles on it. This new one, has less than 300 miles on it. My dealership has been gracious in providing us with a loaner. Although the loaner is also a 2014, it is an automobile and not an SUV. Due to the fact that I previously broke my leg and fractured my ankle on the same leg, four years later, as well as having had to have a total knee replacement on that same leg. The Buick that we have been loaned, sits very low, even with being able to raise the seat, Never having gone through this before, I expected to get the same type or a very similar one, to what I have been accustomed to driving. We have not had a chance to get back to the dealership and my salesman, but plan to do so today, to see if they can put us in another SUV. I have also looked online to see if the 2014 Acadia is one of those being recalled, but have not been successful in finding out yet.Overall, my experiences with all three GMC vehicles weve purchased over the last 10 years, have been excellent ones. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone. As a matter of fact, I praised the 07 one to my banker so much, that she went out and bought one two years ago after test driving one of her own. She is still in love with it, and tells me she rarely uses her previous car which she thought she loved before getting an Acadia. Those of you who have had horrible experiences with your Acadia, must be in the minority, because rarely, if ever, have I heard an Acadia owner speak negatively about it. Friends of ours who had an Envoy, recently bought an Acadia after riding in ours. Sorry about your problems, but I would think you are the exception, not the norm.

I bought this GMC Acadia in August of 2008. Brand new. I followed all scheduled maintenance recommendations set by GMC. At 78,000 miles while driving down the interstate, a hole blows in the side of the transmission stranding my wife and two young sons 3 hours from home. Naturally the factory warranty is up. BUT, I told my wife, This is why you buy from a company such as GMC, they will stand by their product, and help us pay for it. WRONG! GMC totally turned their backs on us! GMC customer service told me twice there is nothing they will do. They did tell me if I had taken it to a GMC dealer theyd look at it. Really? I cant drive it! Its at a private mechanic. What pay to have it towed again to a dealership so they can tell me they wont help me again then over charge me to fix it and make more money off me that I dont have??? NO WAY! The funny thing is, Ive read reviews of tons of people having this exact same problem with GMC and this Acadia transmission problem. Wake up GMC! I say this because not a couple months ago, I told my wife wed buy her a new Tahoe in July of 2016. NOT NOW! Im totally disgusted that a big company such as GMC, has no problem squeezing the little people of America!

When we purchased our 2009 Acadia, it was the day they announced their bankruptcy. We bought anyway because we wanted to buy American and be part of the solution. We loved the midsize look and feel and with the captains chairs in the middle, it allowed our third child, not in a carseat, to get to the back row nicely. So this vehicle is very nice for its practicality and spacious feel for all riders given its smaller size.So the bad news. One recall after another after another. I cant complain too much about that, as long as they get it right. What I am angry about is that there is a transmission problem throughout the company. GM mechanics know this. They know the solenoids are crap, but keep putting junk in their vehicles so that we the consumer has to pay an arm and a leg to get a $65 piece replaced because it requires taking the whole engine out. This happened once at 65k miles, and I thought, well, I guess this happens because that is what the mechanic said. But now it is happening again one year later, a different coil this time. I refuse to keep paying for this is. This is a known issue and the company is doing nothing about it.If I have to, I will do something about it. I will go back to buying Mitsubishi and Audi like I have in the past. Never had any solenoid coil problems with those cars. Never had any customer service problems either. As a matter of fact, Audi has stood by their products even out of warranty because they felt bad about a water pump that went bad. Lets see if GM steps up and takes care of those that took care of them in their darkest moment.

We purchased our vehicle new and have been pleased with it except the transmission. It never, ever sounded right when shifting. This vehicle has only 55,000 miles. We were on our way to Wisconsin to visit family recently when, after shifting into reverse, we heard this very loud noise. We thought we hit something but found out quickly that it was the transmission. After discussing what our best options were, we decided to have it towed back to our local dealer at a cost of $528. Then renting a car to return home, we received the bad news that the repair would cost $2000. We asked the dealer if they reported these kinds of repairs to GM and they said not when its out of warranty. We will think long and hard before we buy another GM vehicle and we certainly cannot recommend them to family and friends.

Bought a new 2014 Acadia Denali - almost $60K. After 8 months, the driver’s seat started making a Clicking noise when I shifted my weight slightly. It was loud and often enough that passengers asked what that noise was. Called the dealer I bought it from, but they were booked up for a week. Took it to another dealer and explained the problem. He said it was the seat tracks and that it was a very common complaint. He could replace the tracks, but that I would be back in three months with the same complaint. Since it was a warranty issue, I told him to order several sets because I would expect them to be replaced. He told me that he would only replace them once, and that I should go back to the dealer that I bought the truck from as he was not about to use up his warranty allocation on me. GM does everything in their power to sell you a vehicle. However, they fall short on support and service. After owning 3 GM vehicles in the past, this will be my last GM product.

Apparently the wave plate in the transmission of these cars, as well as some other GMC autos, is defective. My transmission started flaring when it was trying to shift from 1st to 2nd, and again from second to third. It also whined noticeably when I was stopped. I had to replace it with a re-manufactured transmission. I had 110,000 miles on it so it was out of warranty. GM reduced the price by 20% but it still cost me about $3600. Many people are experiencing this problem and many are under 100,000 miles. I feel that GMC should have a fix for this issue. A recall would be the right thing to do. So do it.

I bought this 2010 Acadia 3 months ago. Oh sure, it looks great, but I discovered the a/c doesnt work, the window locks dont work, the windshield washers dont work. When I remove the gas cap to refuel, it wont start unless I floor it. It cranks slow like that battery or starter is bad. Now it pops into neutral while driving and the electric door locks cycle up and down rapidly. What a huge pile of crap this vehicle is. I was a certified GM mechanic for 20 years, but after seeing what kind of junk they are building now, Im ashamed to admit that to anyone. Dont ever buy one of these vehicles. The warranty company is worthless, says the problems are on me, and they wont repair them.

To start with, coil packs all of them now 118,000 miles and I paid hell to get there. Next motor mounts, wow fix them and see how that feels (not good and really ridiculous). Next front axles and now some new noise coming from the front left front area, and another fun project changing spark plugs. Maybe you should not try to put 50lbs. of potatos in a 20 lbs. sack, you know what I mean. I going to have to say Ive owned a lot of cars and I build them all the time, SHELBY1966 AC COBRAS the finest youll ever see, and I dont expect for GMC to stand up to my standards, but I do know what a car should be and this 2009 GMC Acadia does not even get close. Oh and forgot the tail light (brake light and front and rear turn signals, out and Ive heard about and read about it on here and other sites something wrong with the wiring and they say the same thing as always bla, bla bla, ** talk, but the one thing they dont understand is Im done with their sorry excuses and lame **. I will have to go to someone else to buy my cars. You know if we all stuck together, we would get what we should, when we buy something. Well I hope someone reads this and gets off their aces and starts to do the right thing and fix the things they should, and maybe they might win back some of their customers, but for me, bite me once shame on you, bite me twice and take a hike GMC. You know this might sound funny but Im not sure, even if they gave me a new one, that I would take it. I just dont have the time, nor do I want to spend the time to keep it on the street, and well lets not forget about the money involved with all of those fun times running around and getting hog wash from their Techs, and I dont blame them, they didnt build or design them. Bad for them I guess. Now all that being said, I do not want some of you to get fired up and write some stuff back about how great your car is and no problems bla, bla, bla, You can not tell someone something different than what they already know, and that is I know what a car is and how it should perform and you can not take away from me, please do not try. And if you do felt the urge too, please note all of the other people here on the net with the same problems and same results, excuses after excuses and no one owning up to them. The only peace of mind is knowing I dont have to deal with GMC anymore. I really Wish All The Best To Everyone Still Stuck With One Of These For A Lack Of A Better Word (Car). Good Luck!!

Upon receiving a letter from GM regarding the water pump shaft seal in my 2009 GMC Acadia, I called customer service to notify them of an incident that took place with my vehicle about three weeks ago. After my husband and I were forced to pull off of interstate 95 just south of Washington, DC during rush hour, we had to replace our water pump due to its lacking ability to function as well as belt that had been leaked on due to problems with the water pump. The letter from GM does imply that should the seal not function properly, the water pumps operating ability could be compromised. Prior to the breakdown, my husband and I noticed low coolant levels, monitored the levels and added coolant when needed. The engine fan continued to run even after the vehicle had stopped - a sign that something was not working right. I contacted GM customer service regarding the cost of the repair that, to me, seems a result of a malfunctioning part produced by the company. I was informed that because the vehicle was not repaired at a dealership, they were unable to reimburse me for the repairs. At the time, the vehicle was not drivable and was taken to the closest available repair shop. The closest dealer was almost an hour away. I am filing the complaint as I find it unfair and unjust that GM has not recalled the water pump shaft seal and instead is hiding behind the issue by calling it a courtesy customer service letter. After researching the issue, I discovered that I am not alone in believing that this part should be recalled. The letter offers this resolve: Your GMC dealer will check your vehicles coolant level and, if necessary, will add sufficient engine coolant. If the seal is compromised, the vehicle will continue to need additional and unordinary amounts of engine coolant fluid. This letter offers a cowardly attempt at patching the real issue (that is the malfunctioning water pump shaft seal). I feel strongly that this part should be recalled.

Being a GM family, we have been loyal to the brand but the Acadia falls far
Being a GM family, we have been loyal to the brand but the Acadia falls far short compared to the companys other SUVs. There are 943 Technical Service Bulletins issued for the 2017 Acadia alone! Most of them are related to random leaks, failures with steering, suspension and brakes. As the principal driver, I can attest handling is not as stable as the one-size-down Equinox, although it improved noticeably when we switched to a better tire than what came with the car. Within a few months of purchase, the SUV developed a drive train problem, and it was difficult to find a dealership familiar with the bulletin issued by GM and knew how to resolve it. This is now a known problem, with over 300 registered complaints posted just for this particular repair. Another annoying and known issue: at the gas pump, the baffle in the gas tank causes the fuel pump to shut off after 3 gallons. The solution is to manually hold down the level on the pump, or it will keep shutting off after every 2-3 gallons, even when the tank is nearly empty. And then there are the myriad leaks, detailed in the complaints and TSBs…

Ive had constant problems with this GMC Acadia. It is soooo sad that consumers can get screwed like this & GM dont have to own up to their products... This cost people homes, jobs, stress, etc. Im looking at all of the complaints and wondering how are they getting away with this. I purchased this truck used in 2011. I thought ok, just 4 years old... Worst experience of my life. The next year, the problems started. New power steering pump, Sun roof constant leaks, destroying the interior lining. Automatic windows going out. My head lights & tail lights constantly going out. Throttle body Valve??? Dont ask me but it cost approx $1300 to replace... And the worst, my TRANSMISSION! I was told the TCM fixed it and the car started back running... Then it wouldnt go forward again... Was told the transmission again... At the same time, all the sound went out in my car, no radio... no onstar... no blinkers, etc... This is horrible... We have to stand up... Im hearing the same complaints. This car has been such a hardship... IF anyone has had any similar problems... please email me at **. Thank you!

Spent $50k on this new vehicle (2017 GMC Acadia Denali AWD) and it has been a total disaster from day 1 - From rattles and squeaks in dash, seats, and lift gate to the biggest issue, vehicle shudders at constant speeds! (GOOGLE GMC #PIP5488). We ended up finding this out at our 5th service, but at the 4th service, our entire drivetrain was torn apart to have the torque converter clutch replaced - Which didnt solve our problem. We just got word today that GMC is not willing to offer us a buyback, rather we were told we had to wait for a fix! Dealership says it could be 2 years! WHAT! We bought a 2011 Acadia with 78k miles on it. Ive been a GM fan my entire life and trusted the name. It seemed like a great vehicle at first. We had some minor issues here and there but nothing too bad. My first aggravations were with the engineering of the vehicle. Changing the oil is a pain and the headlight bulbs are a nightmare. The air system decided to only blow hot air on the driver side, possible deflector failure. Good times for the summer. One day the engine started knocking.Immediately we parked it and towed it to our local shop. They started it to listen to it and the engine locked up. 6 months out of warranty (90k miles on it, but over 5 years) and GMC said well youre the second owner so we cant help you. 7k to put a new engine in. Im nearly 30k into the vehicle and max trade in is about 10,500 from a GM dealer. With the original engine and the new GM engine we average about 13-14 mpg getting 16 highway. My 04 Silverado gets 17. Ill never, ever buy a GM product again.

Purchased 2009 GMC Acadia with 50k miles in 2012. Has been in for numerous recalls and repairs since 2nd day after purchase. 3 times to dealership for leaking fuel which was from fuel injectors and faulty o-ring that led to cabin filling with dangerous gas fumes, 3 times to shop for ignition coil replacement where dealership ignored the ECM technical bulletin. Replaced #3 coil 3 times (it was literally melted), 1 failed actuator, 1 engine rebuild when dealership failed to identify actuator as issue, actuator replacement, complete power steering failure after it was simply serviced due to recall limitations. 6 tows in all. And it is now in shop for ECM and you guessed it. Ignition coils/spark plugs. How much did GM help? They offered $1500 towards new car purchase. Not even close to repair costs. How knowledgeable was dealership service department? HORRIBLE. Did not identify correct issues, upsold repairs, ignored technical bulletins, and wiggled out of recall replacement of power steering. My warranty that I purchased covered some costs but even with warranty and extended service plan, I have paid out over $6k in a 2.5 yr period plus been on side of road more times than I can count. Cannot trade in due to very little market value. Stuck with worthless car that is costing a fortune. It was obviously a lemon and GM needs to acknowledge that and extend bumper to bumper coverage or buy out consumers. At this point I am surprised that I have not caught fire, blown up, or wrecked when power steering failed. This is a dangerous vehicle and people should stay away from it. I have over 20 service tickets.

I recently purchased a used 2008 GMC Acadia after scouring a trusted dealerships lot for a new SUV. I immediately fell in love with the features and look for the Acadia and signed my hard earned money away on the dotted line. Less than two months in, I now realize that this was the worst decision of my life. It drove smooth at first but I began to notice some transmission issues when accelerating. It wasnt noticeable enough to be a major deal as I am used to some lag in acceleration when driving heavier SUVs (I traded in a Toyota Sequoia). Now just one week after making my first payment my check engine light is as bright as day. As I scroll these reviews and look online for anger management counselors to keep me from flipping out at my local dealership and on the phone with GMC I am preparing a strategy to get rid of this vehicle especially now that I see all of the negative feedback. Thanks for all that have posted their experiences, I will never ever buy American or GMC again, back to foreign.

We own a 2010 GMC top of the line Acadia with only 45000km on it, its two owner car (87 year old man gave to his daughter). Its never towed anything and has had regular maintenance. I was taking the Acadia on Oct 22/16 over to my mechanics to have him check the urgency of repair needed for the power steering seals (they are bleeding which seems to be a very common problem for the Acadia). Upon driving the mere 4 miles to his business the vehicle started accelerating on its own. On a level surface it was actually increasing speed and required constant braking to maintain speed. Upon putting the car in park it was revving high.My mechanic tried connecting to the computer which gave no error message, disconnected the throttle body to confirm there was no debris or anything to cause spontaneous acceleration. He also disconnected the battery and reset the vehicles computer which had no effect. I submitted an online ticket to GM Canada on Oct 23/16 to bring to the companys attention the issue. Ive been contacted twice by phone to give the VIN number (provided to them on the online ticket Oct 23, left a voice mail to the case worker Oct 26 and again to a customer service rep Nov 3).My mechanic has identified the issue as being the throttle pedal sensor and seems to have successfully fixed the glitch however has warned me that since it has gone at such low mileage is highly likely to fail again. Im concerned to take it for long distance trips as this is the third issue thats occurred with this vehicle and is likely to happen again. To date weve had to fix the front sprayer for the windshield and we have the expensive fix for the power steering rack and pistons upcoming. Im severely disappointed that a car with such low mileage has such issues and am worried what future issues are upcoming. That said my mother enjoys how it handles and is everything she wants with a SUV. I just wish it had less problems.

Three transmissions have gone into this vehicle, not to mention damn headlights keep blowing which is $160 to fix because the whole panel has to come out. The power steering pump went and now the car has shut down twice on busy highway. The GM dealer tells me because of low oil, after he just serviced the vehicle less than 3 weeks prior. A car shuts down because of low oil?? No oil light, no warning. We did receive a $180 bill for checking the oil and topping up. I threw the bill in the managers face. Only good for the first 15,000 miles. Factory tires are a joke and made with softer rubber. GM is aware and it was the discretion of the dealership to share the info. At 18,000 miles I had 4 bald tires. They cover a portion of it under warranty. The tire guy has to call Michelin with the mileage and size of tread - if any. We did get 70% off new ones. Two days later I started experiencing the SHIFT TO PARK error. Its in park and I try to shut it off but it doesnt register being in park. This prevents the car from locking and causes nonstop dinging that will ultimately drain your battery. You have to turn it on/off again multiple times, jiggle the stick, hit the brake until it magically decides its good. It now happens EVERY time I shut it down. There is no fix. Again GM is aware and left it to the discretion of the dealership to share the info. Now Im stuck in a lease for a PITA car that I cant properly use. Save yourself the headache - buy something else!

Engine mounts are broken (after three years). Air distributor is broken (after four years). Engine bracket is broken (after four years). To add insult the injury the dealer is incompetent, promotes an extended warranty that doesnt extend to anything, and only finds out problems after the expiration of the warranty. It is either GM sells Lemons or off-spec vehicles in Saudi Arabia, or the Saudi Specs are designed for junk cars. Either way, never again. From a loyal GM household that has bought 13 new GM vehicles in 25 years, I am fed up and looking for a new manufacturer that cares about their customer. My 2009 GMC Acadia SLT1 has had nothing but problems since the warranty expired. The transmission went out literally on a trip when I rolled past 100,00 miles and stopped for gas. Had it diagnosed at a trusted independent shop and was told I need a new transmission. Called GM Customer Care and elevated the case and was told I was 3-4 months past the 5 year warranty. Needed a GM diagnosis. After 3 days of frustration, I called the service manager at my GMC dealership. He told me this is a known problem on early the year build, wave plate disintegrates causing havoc. Said it would be two weeks before they could look at it since they had several others ahead of me, then another week or two for the repair. GM would only consider helping on the repair after the work is completed and would at best kick in 20-25% based on their experience. Could be as high as $4500. I could not wait and had my independent guy replace the transmission at $3300, a discount of $200.This was soon after I had to replace struts. Then I get a low pressure, stop engine warning. Had it towed and could not find cause or repeat. Now the A/C is out and cause cannot be determined in leak test. Dealer guess is that based on odor coming out of vents, it is likely the evaporator, an estimated $1600 repair. Vehicle has 108,000 miles, is garage kept and well maintained. After this, plus having the timing chain replaced (under warranty) and numerous recalls, I have lost confidence and wanted to trade it in. The dealer low balled the trade offer because of the A/C. I called GM again looking for some sort of loyalty goodwill. In over two weeks, after elevating to a senior customer care rep, all I have gotten is broken promises on call backs, repeated inquiries to repeat my story. Last promise was I would hear back same day or in 24 hours (last week). Nearly a week has passed and I am left assuming they hope I will just go away.Looks like I will be going away....to another OEM. Loyalty built GM, treatment like this and faulty products will continue the decades long slide in market share. I cannot recommended GM to my children or their friends. Who will be their customer of the future? GM makes great big SUVs and Trucks...all else is a roll of the the dice. 25 years and out....later GM. Should be a class action suit on the transmission. AC problem is a common problem, too, I am told. Time to test the New GM, and leaderships claim of new transparency.

I have a 2010 Acadia SLT. I love my car however upon my last visit to the dealership for regular tune up we discovered the car was leaking oil which led to completely taking the car apart. This car was purchased new in 2010 and was $38000.00. It has 65,000 miles on it and we have had very little issues - the recalls. Not too bad. This car is very safe and rides and handles very well after 6 years. I am even considering getting a new Acadia Denali. I do feel like now that the car has over 50,000 miles - little things are going to start going wrong. When I went in for my last tune up the service manager gave me a list of things that my car was due to have done to it. Thankfully my husband is a retired mechanic for Ford and knew that it was all a bunch of crock. A car this expensive with that has been maintained as scheduled should last well over 150,000.00 miles. Not sure if it will.

We bought our 2012 GMC Acadia with excitement and high expectations. We were so wrong, and regretted our decision fairly quickly. Within months, we had numerous recalls, the AC stopped working, the USB port stopped working, and a piece of the rubber on the car windows fell off. Luckily, it was under warranty. After 2 years, we had a total of five recalls.Within a couple of months of the warranty expiration, the problems got worse. The AC stopped working AGAIN. Same problem, different year. Our front tires suddenly went bad ($550), confusing since the car didnt have many miles. No explanation from the dealer. Now, year three, AC went out AGAIN ($1100 front and rear), front CV joints cracked ($650) which we were told was probably why our tires went bad so fast, fuel injection issues ($240) causing car to stall every time we got gas, power steering fluid hose leaking ($200), and other issues with a total bill of $2900. Mechanic said it was one of the biggest messes hed ever seen on a car. He said the car was very cheaply put together with plastic parts. I hate this car and completely disappointed that we paid $45000 for a piece of junk.

We have a 2011 GMC Acadia, 53,000 miles later still no issues. The only issue we have had is a wiring issue. The lights didnt work right so we got it fixed. We have not had an issue since and couldnt be happier with this car. Great job GM, the only reason why these others are saying bad things about it is because they are nothing but full-blown HATERS! This car is absolutely amazing. Plus everyone knows not to bring their cars to the dealership unless its under warranty because they LIE about things that are broken or it still works they just want their money. If its under warranty sure but if not take it to a family repair shop. Overall the Acadia is WOW.

I purchased my 2007 GMC Acadia brand New. A week after owning it, the liftgate shocks went bad, it hit me in the head putting groceries away. I NOTICED a popping sound coming from the steering, as Id turn, took it in, according to them its fine... 3 weeks, I was just driving and it completely shut down no warning, I had to put it into park, restart it. Took it in, ran a diagnosis and nothing. December 2008, winter I was driving the car, the gas pedal went to the floor again, no warning, almost wrecked into a pole. Ive had continuous issues with my SUV, with the warranty, even worse now that I paid it off, repairs are more than anything else. Approximately 4000.00 in repairs now. I feel I should get a replacement being that this SUV only has 47,000 miles on it!!! Currently its in the shop, for the throttle body, last month I formed out $900.00 for brakes! Paid $125 For evap. valve. Im sick of this unsafe cartel or junk. I dont even take my child around in it because its not safe!

So got the Acadia and fell in love, it fit our family of 6 perfectly! Soon after I noticed the passenger front and back windows would hesitate to roll down sometimes...over looked it because I was so happy to have it, then came the air bag light - it was a known issue but no one could do anything about it to clear it out! Now mind you I got my car in Jan so it was cold, now were getting into summer and running the ac more and it makes this loud screeching noise when its on low. I was told it was from water leaking in from the sunroof, GREAT! All these problems are bothersome but not so costly. The biggest problem came today. I was driving with my 2 kids, stopped at a red light, got ready to take off and it was like someone unplugged the car - it just wouldnt go. Luckily I was coming down off a slight incline so I was able to roll into a parking lot where the check engine light came on. And Im being told Its $2500 to rebuild the transmission and put a new wave plate in (the wave plate is what broke in the transmission causing the issue) but they cant guarantee it will last more than 10,000 miles because there could have been more damage done by the broken wave plate. They can give it a full check for $127 a hr or I could get a new transmission for $4000. Of course my warranty ended last year and there is no recall for this issue that so many people are having. I absolutely love everything about this car but whats the point of having a really nice car if you cant drive it and 11 months into it Im having all these issues. I will definitely be trading this vehicle in the first chance I get! GM is supposed to be the best of the best but thats definitely not the case. GMC Acadia is like a cubic zirconia, looks good but worth absolutely nothing!

I have an Acadia GMC 2009 chassis No. **. From the mileage of 19870 Km and in 49800Km, I found that sound in the front with any bump and packet of power steering wheels and they told me that is a manufacturing defect. They replaced the packet of power steering wheels twice but it appeared again and the shock absorber they wait since the beginning too but the cost on me. Why is that? I did all the services in your agent and you can check from car history and I spent more than 150 SR in purchasing that car and 7382 SR in services in 28 months only and more than two months in agent for services. Now, I feel very bad about any GMC vehicles and it will affect your reputation here and everywhere and you will lose your customer trust. So find me a good solution please.

After working hard for many years and striving to purchase what I thought w
After working hard for many years and striving to purchase what I thought was a top of the line vehicle - I purchased in July 2013 a used GMC 2010 Acadia SLT AWD fully loaded coming off a 3 year lease. I cannot afford a brand new one with a sticker of $45,000. The vehicle had extremely low mileage 33,000 miles. I wanted a larger, heavier vehicle with AWD to plow through the Michigan snow. I need a vehicle with low miles as I drive annually 22,000 per year. After one year of ownership, the vehicle had the typical Rack noise which is described in many forums was supposedly fixed by the dealer. This fix lasted one year and the rack once again is starting to thump at low speed turns. To fix this rack even though it was replaced a year earlier is $1000. In the 2.5 years that I have owned it I am now at 87,000 miles. I regularly changed the oil faithfully every 5-6,000 miles. I used synthetic oil as was told to me to do at the dealer. I did this because I was relying heavily on the car to last me to 160,000 miles or higher. That was not to be.4 days ago my husband took the car and the vehicle completely died on his way home. No lights, no warning, no nothing. We thought it was the battery and replaced the battery. You turn the key on vehicle to turn it over and nothing. My husband is not a professional mechanic but knows a lot about vehicles. He got under the vehicle to see what was going on and decided to try to turn the crankshaft -- it was completely seized. Yesterday the vehicle that I thought was finally one that was going to last now is going to cost at a minimum of $3000 to $6000 to repair. I am so upset and so frustrated with the way the Chevy/GMC vehicles have major issues with miles greater than 70,000. I dont know yet how we are going to pay to fix this vehicle. We are right now waiting on the official diagnosis from the dealer.Yesterday they called and stated it is for sure an internal issue and needed our permission to tear it apart. Once and if we fix it (not going to be able to afford the fix probably), I will never be able to trust the vehicle again. 2 weekends ago we had a basketball tournament and had 2 other children in the car with us over 100 miles away from home. Thank God this vehicle did not break down in rural Michigan that far from home. We are unsure if the root cause was the timing chain that seems to happen to these SUVs. I wish I would have spent hours investigating and reading reviews on this vehicle as I would not of purchased it if I had known this. I am very scared if we do decide to keep it that the transmission will go next.I had a Chevy Venture van which the transmission blew up at 80,000 miles and the whole car pretty much fell apart. Power sliding door stopped working, automatic windows stopped working along with the rear back wiper. I thought I would give another chance to GMC/Chevy to prove me wrong with a top of the line vehicle but I was wrong. My advice on these message boards is this - do not keep these vehicles more than 70,000 miles. They do not last. I have decided after the 2nd lemon from GM/Chevy I am going to try either a Ford Edge or Chrysler Jeep. I plan to purchase something with a better warranty than what GM and Chevy offer. GM and Chevy have lost my business once and for all.Updated on 02/23/2016: Today is February 23 and it is Day 25 since my 2010 Acadia blew up. After 9 days of diagnostics the final diagnosis was a spun rod bearing went in the lower end of the engine and it experienced catastrophic engine failure. A new engine will need to be installed if one can be located. After countless hours speaking with GMC and due to the fact that I am just shy of the 5 year mark --- GMC agreed to pay 60% and we pay 40% for a new engine. Total out of pocket expense will be around $3000.00. The dealership was kind enough to give me a rental car while this mess is figured out. Total fix for an engine swap is about $7500.00 for a vehicle that is at 87,000 miles. I am detailing the saga here of dealing with GMC and how many hours my husband has been on the phone trying to get this resolved. An engine was located and arrived at the dealer on Feb 16th. On Feb 17th we were told the engine that GMC agreed to split cost with us arrived missing parts. The dealer stated this was unacceptable and sent the engine back and requested a new one. After 22 days at the dealership we are still waiting on an engine. I believe engine availability is so limited right now because GMC is having to replace so many of these 3.6L V-6 engines. So the saga goes on. So the saga goes on. For something to happen in January – I am really hoping to have my car fixed in March some time! An engine was located and shipped to the dealer.

My parents bought a used 08 Acadia SLT in the spring of 2010 and worked pretty well up until now. But ever since we got it, nobody can figure out why the tire pressure sensors give the wrong indicators for the wrong tires. For example, if the front passenger was low, it would indicated the rear driver is low. Over the summer, we were driving home from Michigan to New York and about 30 minutes into the trip, the radio just cut out. Now, it sometimes works and sometimes doesnt but it only seems to come on in very low temperatures. It worked for about 15 minutes this morning and then cut out. From what Ive found, its something with the amplifier. Ours has the Bose sound system and my mom does blast her music sometimes. I dont know if the amp is fried or if its a fuse in the amp or something and speaking of fuses, Id love to meet the moron who decided where one of the fuse boxes went. They placed it under the glove box where its hard to reach. Why couldnt they just put them in with the other fuses under the damn hood?!I wouldnt spend money on one of these pieces of garbage. You would be better off buying something else. Also, the traction on these things sucks. You just barely touch the gas and it spins your tires. Driving the FWD models is like driving a giant sled. I have a 2005 Mini Cooper and its like a tank in the snow and I have all season tires on that thing.

For months we were seeing the RPMs running higher than they should. 5000 when trying to pass and they did not release soon after. I believe that GM Company is a leading company especially in customer service perspective and this led all authors of customer service books to take GM as their main example. After studying and preparing most of my academic assignment on this giant company, I became a loyal customer to this respective brand and this point was really the most important factor which led me to choose the Acadia car. I experienced this since February 2010 and my loyalty was enhanced more than before; however after less than three years and less than 50,000 mileage, I was disappointed as I faced problems with the noise in my steering wheel where it became a redundant issue; however, this was solved. But in November 2011, I faced another sound inside the car when I press the brake. Though it has been solved, it happened again after less than one year and currently, I face the same issue! The agent here in Bahrain advised me that they have to change the master cylinders and the boosters. In addition to this issue, the rear door pumps had no pressure to hold the rear door. I spoke with the agent and argued with them about this. They agreed to change the master cylinders with the booster at their cost if I bear the labor charge cost which exceeds BHD 80/- (USD212)! Today, I found out that these two issues are common with all Acadia models. My close friend (his car reg. # **) is also facing the same issues. I am filing this complaint to take this issue up with the agent to waive all the charges, as its unbelievable that such nice car produced by a leading company has these issues and the customer is bearing the cost of repairing them! Im looking for a service to keep me satisfied.

I bought my Acadia used from Bob Allen Dealership in Danville, KY in July 2010. At 62,100 miles, rain water started leaking into the cabin of the vehicle on the passenger side and rear seating areas. I could hear the water moving around inside the roof compartments while driving. The carpet becomes wet repeatedly. At one point it started to have mildew on the passenger side carpet. I have had it cleaned on several occasions. The battery compartment in the rear passenger side floor board filled with water. I took it to a mechanic, had the water drained and battery replaced. The water damage has caused electrical issues. My radio, cd player, and navigation system no longer works. I had to remove the fuse from the speakers to stop a loud irritating sound. The power steering pump was replaced around 80,000 miles. A mechanic stated that I need new struts. There is a metal to metal grinding noise when I place the transmission into drive mode. When I refill my gas tank, my Acadia will not start on the 1st or 2nd attempt. I have to push hard on the gas while turning on the ignition switch in order to start my engine. Afterwards, it starts without issues until the next trip to the gas station.I took my Acadia in to repair the roof leak twice. The drain ports were cleared. Although the second repair attempt decreased the amount of water leaking into the vehicle, my windows still become drenched from the inside. During the winter months, the water on the inside of my windows freeze. I have contacted GMC about the water leak issue. I was told by GMC that I should contact their GMC overseas department because I was stationed in Germany. I was later told that my VIN was not covered. I am basically stuck with a car that has caused me to pay way more than I ever expected in repair work. GMC has failed miserably with the Acadia model vehicle. I will never own a GMC vehicle again.

I purchased a 2012 Acadia with 60,059 miles on it. I thought I finally found a DEAL. GMC/BUICK dealer sold it to me for 20,035. I couldnt believe it. Roughly 3-5K lower than any other dealers in this town for this car. I jumped on it... Loved the car. 3 kids... Hockey equipment... I was finally in a comfortable car that I can cruise around to every hockey rink in Minnesota.Day #3: Squeaking while breaking. Dealer gave me 4 rotors, 4 new pad. (They covered it). Day #6: Squeaking returns. Some sensor around the wheel was making it squeak. (They covered it). Day #37: Wiper control module goes out. Perfect. Its raining out. And I cant use my wipers. $189. Day #49: Alternator goes out. $775. Day #53: Struts leaking. Shopped online to get some at discount price. $180.00.So its been in the shop 5 times in 54 days. Thats an average of once every 10 days. Are you kidding me? I finally broke down and bought an american car. (Had Honda, Toyota, Nissan before). Im embarrassed to think that when the BOOM in 07-09 hit. And our auto manufacturers were going under. We bailed them out so they could make products like this. Its unreal. I love the look of the car. I love the interior. But Im not going to spend 1K every 50 days on this vehicle to have something else break. Ive contacted GMC and they have apologized that Im having this kind of luck with this car. They claim that I might have the one that always slides through. Hahaha. Are you kidding me. Hey sir. Thanks for spending 20K on your car. But you will spend about 10K in repairs because we have made a poor product.Should I sell it? Man. Id feel bad for the person that bought it from me, and has this problem. Why do you think Toyota, Honda, Hyundai all can be confident with the 10 years 100,000 mile warranty. Because they make rock solid products! GMC...I feel like you dropped the ball with this one.

Our 2011 GMC Acadia (18,500 miles) will be in the shop for the third time as of tomorrow within four weeks. Each time, it has been to a different dealer/shop for repair. The first two noted two very different issues, but it boils down to the fact that the vehicle has serious electrical issues. There are numerous complaints/threads about the 2011 Acadia regarding this issue, amongst others. We have contacted GM corporate/customer service (which takes us to Austin, TX) and have been given the runaround ever since. The vehicle actually lost power when I was on the road driving recently. I had no power to go forward, and could only reverse. We have serious concerns now about the safety of this vehicle, and the Texas customer service department, District Specialists, Jamal and Shareef (not sure how to spell Shareef, but I will spell it like it sounds), and Shareefs supervisor, Josh (**), have done nothing but brush us off, leave us waiting on the phone for an hour (literally). They tell us they will call us back at a certain time and then do not follow through, and give us attitude. The car is still not running correctly. Today Josh - who refuses to give his last name, refuses to give us the name of his boss and tells us we cant go above him, tells us to take it to the dealer (again) and if we are still not happy, they will look into swapping it out. Josh refuses to tell us what that process includes, or how long it may take. Keep in mind we have already been told this by Shareef, so they seem to like to keep pushing you off in efforts to not deal with you. Not one of them has seemed overly concerned about our safety. This is supposed to be our family car (three kids, two dogs), as well as our mountain car. We live in CO and are in the mountains about 2-3 times a month. What if the Acadia had shut down on us, or slipped out of gear like it did the first time and when we were unable to move, on a steep grade? Or on the mountain highways in general? The chances of us being hit and potentially killed are very, very high. There are very few places to pull over and people tend to drive fast.We are highly disappointed with the individuals we have dealt with in Texas, as well as ** who works for a Chevy dealer (who was supposed to have fixed our car this last time) on 120th Ave. in Broomfield, CO. He seemed to think that the car shutting down on me on a highly traveled road was somewhat normal and a safety feature. He said that all cars have problems, and we should just expect them. Needless to say, the runaround and lack of general interest in our situation makes me seriously question the product I bought from GM, and GM all around. I should have bought the Nissan Armada. We are sorry to have given GM our business at this point. As a side note, each dealership who was supposed to have fixed our car (GMC in Glenwood Springs and Chevy on 120th) returned our car back very dirty. Grease marks were on the drivers, passenger door and wheel (Chevy), and tons of dust and debris were coating the interior of our car, which indicates they left the windows wide open (Glenwood Springs). ** at Chevy offered us a coupon at a local car wash, but did not seem to care or think it was bad customer service to give us back the Acadia more dirty than it initially was. These were terribly customer service experiences all around.
