Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV):

Powertrain: Combines a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with an electric motor, allowing for electric-only driving or hybrid operation.

Electric Range: The Clarity PHEV offered an all-electric driving range on a full charge before the gasoline engine kicks in.

Charging: It could be charged using a standard 120-volt household outlet or a 240-volt charger for faster charging.

Drive Modes: Drivers could choose between electric-only mode, hybrid mode, or use the gasoline engine for longer trips.

Honda Clarity Electric:

Powertrain: This variant was a fully electric vehicle with no gasoline engine.

Range: The Clarity Electric offered an estimated electric range on a full charge.

Charging: It supported fast charging for quicker recharge times.

Honda Clarity Fuel Cell:

Powertrain: The Clarity Fuel Cell was a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, producing electricity through a chemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen.

Infotainment: A touchscreen infotainment system with connectivity features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Climate Control: Automatic climate control and other comfort features.

Please note that specific features and specifications can vary depending on the Clarity variant and trim level. Additionally, the availability of the Clarity Fuel Cell was limited to specific regions due to the infrastructure required for hydrogen fueling. My fobs will no longer open the passenger and rear doors on the second click. The Fobs continue to open the driver’s side door and lock all doors. Nor will the key open these same doors on the second click. The vehicle is a 2006 Honda Ridgeline. I am retired, and I cannot afford to take the car to the dealer for a fix.

There is an ignition switch recall - Same make, Same model, Same year as my Honda Civic, but they will not repair my ignition switch because my VIN doesnt match the recalled VINs, even though they have the diagnostic from the Honda tech saying that it IS, in fact, faulty and needs to be changed to avoid further DYING in the middle of a busy intersection or interstate! When I contacted American Honda, they told me that it was just Coincidental and even DENIED that that was the case until I had PAPERS showing that it was from their very own technicians! Jerks.

Here Maps provide updates to Honda & Acura Navigation system. They knowingly sell DVD map updates that may cause permanent damage the Honda and Acura navigation systems without offering a disclaimer. On June 7, 2017 I purchased the 2017 Honda White DVD to update the navigation system in my 2007 Honda Accord. I followed all instructions listed inside the case. At first the system appeared to be updating. A few minutes later, I received a read disc error on my navigation screen. I contacted customer service and was advised to removed the disk. I attempted to remove the disk but it would not eject. I took the car to the Honda dealership and they were also unable to get it to eject. The next day after the letting the car sit, I was able to eject the 2017 DVD. So I put the old one back in, press eject and it ejected fine. I put it back in so I can just leave the NAVI system the way it was. At first there was a message on the screen that read System now downloading. After a few minutes it went back to read disk error. So now the original disc can no longer be read. Although Here agree to refund me the $100 I paid for the DVD. Now Honda want to charge me $110 to do diagnostics to my system. I researched online and see where many other customers have the same issue and some have spent as much as $4000 resolving this issue. Here refers me to Honda and vice versa. I advised the last rep I spoke with at HERE that they should at least offer a disclaimer that states Beware this update may destroy your system. She agreed and said she will make that suggestion so future customers wont continue to experience this issue. Honda and Here are aware of the problem yet they continue to sell these DVD updates and customer is responsible for the damages associated with the update. This isnt fair and they should be held responsible for the money people spend to pay for the updates and the damages associated with the update. Can you please assist me this?

I have owned Honda cars for over 28 years and have been very happy with them but I feel a need to mention one concern I have with Honda cars - the body frame. I admit that I hold onto your vehicle for a long time since they perform so well but each time I have had to replace my car, it is due to the body frame rusting out, never the engine. It is frustrating to have the engine performing like a champ but the body giving out.

I am Raj ** and I am working in a private company. I purchased a new Honda bike to sell our house which is in Delhi. I purchased a Honda Shine from Race Honda Patpargani, New Delhi. Date of sale was August 14,2011. But it is not running straight on the road, there is a problem bubbling in my bike. I checked the bike the next day, August 15, 2011.In the showroom, they loose the screw of the handle and told me that my bike was okay. But the problem is the same. When I went back there the next day, August 17, 2011, I asked why is it having the same problem. The showroom manager told me that I should go to their workshop. So I went to the workshop on August 24, 2011 and met the workshop manager, Mr Ashwani **. He told me that the rear rim found the band because of the speed breaker and digs, he said they cannot do anything for me and I have to pay around Rs 3,700 for it. I was shocked when I heard it. Then I decided to complain to the Honda Bike Company. The telephone numbers are 2290911, 2290912, 2290913. I do not feel good about them, compared to other companys customer care. But after all that, one Honda engineer Mr. Umesh came, I was hoping he could help me. But he was so busy with his cellphone and he didnt listen to a single word I said, he just told me that my bike is not under warranty so I need to pay for the repair. The parking charge was Rs50 extra, so I was so unhappy that I asked him why do I have to pay for parking and a rim. Then he told me that I have purchased a Honda bike, and that he will not give me a favor. After all that, I think I took the wrong decision to purchase a Honda Shine. My bike is still in the workshop. What can I do now. Can I fire myself?

My name is Jose **. 2 weeks ago I took my Honda Civic to the Honda dealership to fix my 2 recalls On my airbags. Also had my AC fixed because it was not turning on, they told me it was gonna cost me a little over $500 To get it fixed. I said go ahead fix it, same day I called the dealership that car was overheating and shutting off after they did work on it, they completely denied it that they only touched the AC but I have proof from other repair shops there was nothing wrong with my car, I took my car for one thing, I don’t know what they did, it damaged another thing, now they say is a bad battery, a bad alternator and a bad AC compressor, but that’s not what they told me at first when I took my car to have my AC fixed, what can I do?

I bought my 02 Accord brand new, and now have 174K on the clock. Ive replaced the transmission 3 times, and finally found a shop here in San Francisco that built it correctly. They told me that Honda transmissions are unlike any other standard transmission design and they fail often. Theres too much pressure kept in the torque converter, and not enough return fluid for the unit to function correctly. There are several aftermarket fixes, of course, that you have to pay for. When I picked my car up at the shop, there were 3 Accords, 3 Odysseys and 2 MDXs. I called American Honda to ask for some sort of help seeing as this is my 3rd time around the pony show - nothing. Shame on Honda for being so stupid in their design. Im not going back for more.

I own the Touring version of the 2005 Honda Odyssey. The vehicle was purchased new. In the fall of 2008 the passenger-side sliding door was registering as being open. The dash light came on & the steady alarm that goes off would stay on while I was driving.I could de-activate the alarm by sliding the doors control button to a manual setting. However, the dash light would keep warning me bybinging) that the door was open. The motor would engage briefly while & the door would actually move while I was driving! I was unaware at the time that the doors bad connection was also draining my battery.Took it in 12/08 to a dealership. Was told the motor & latch had to be replaced along with the battery to the tune of $691.Done.Late in 2010 the other sliding door (passenger side) started doing the same thing. My battery died repeatedly & at 1 point was replaced.Took it to another dealership & they found the exact same door problem as the previous incident.Motor & latch had to be replaced on THAT door for $945. Done.At present (8/3/11) the driver side sliding door is broken AGAIN!If I replace it AGAIN it will be the THIRD door on that sidesince owning the vehicle. Called Honda HQ. Gentleman was pleasant but had a most difficult time comprehending the problem.Even asked me if I was sure that it was that door.I had to explain to him how the dashboard features are pretty specific as to which door (or tire, for that matter) is acting up.Unbelievable!Bottom line, since nothing is under warranty, Honda has no problem with me putting out another $1,000 to replace the door . . again. The only thing I garnered from the phone call was a case file number! They will not acknowledge that this is obviously a problem that should NOT be recurring like this & they shoud share some responsibility in the cost.I have also been blessed with run-flat tires on this model which I have had to replace several times at $1200/4 tires.I am sorely disappointed in what I thought was a reputable company that would stand behind its product.I will be selling the vehicle & will never set foot in a Honda dealership again.

After my accident and insurance inspection, there were four to five damaged parts which were to be replaced (caused due to accident) and was told that within seven to ten working days, I will get the car back. I have been waiting everyday but things seem to proceed further.Today, after three weeks of continuous chase, I finally get an answer from Ayub ** (General Manager of Hall Mark Honda) that the spare parts are still not available and will let me know by tomorrow for the exact status. Ayub also mentioned that I may also put up a complaint on customer care. Today, I have made a complaint to the Customer Care--my complaint number is **.In the beginning, when we were to give the vehicle for servicing, why didnt they check with their big company for the spare parts prior to giving commitments to us? I require my car for commuting to work on a daily basis and with such delays and poor service, it is really not worth buying a Honda car.I have gotten sick and tired with no correct feedback, following-up with the branch, and getting atrocious responses like, we shall get back to you in two hours or the responsible person is not available. I really think that Honda is testing our patience. Such inadequate service and inefficient staff! We will no longer seek or expect any help from your branchs disinterested individuals, who seems to be highly skilled ** jugglers.Kindly consider my dissatisfaction and disappointment with such useless services and try to solve my query soon. It is suffice to say that I have now given up on my futile and foolhardy quest but I still hope to receive some kind of service from you. I am awaiting immediate response.

I was raised in a Ford family and we rode Honda bikes and three-wheelers because my dad, who was a mechanic until he became a fireman, drove Fords and rode Honda motorcycles. Its all I knew as a kid and years later, after I got married my husband - who raced motocross on a Mako - bought me a Honda ATC. I loved that ride and was completely confident in its safety. So confident that I had no qualms about riding with my toddler son seated in front of me.

My wife and I bought this vehicle brand new. After the first 2000 miles, the tires were transmitting the street vibration into the cab. It was so loud that you cant carry a normal conversation. Furthermore the vehicle develops a weird action that stalls the engine when you try to accelerate to pass another vehicle. In both cases, we took the car to the dealership and they did nothing claiming that the diagnostic machine found nothing. Nevertheless we end up replacing the car for a 2013 Toyota Camry SE. I love Honda. Both of our cars are made by Honda (a CR-V and a Civic). Theyre reliable, comfortable, convenient, and enjoyable to drive. We usually drive the CR-V when we go on long trips and its nice to be able to fit my wife and I, two dogs and all the luggage plus my acoustic guitar on most trips. My favorites are the Bluetooth connectivity for my music, the seat warmers and the back up camera. The Bluetooth connection is great for just hopping in the car and having the music pick up from where I was listening to it last (which Im doing constantly) and it sounds pretty great! The seat warmers are wonderful because Im always cold, especially when my wife is driving as she likes to turn the car into an icicle on wheels. And Im short so the backup cam can see areas I cant on my own or with the mirrors. I personally wouldnt enjoy driving something much bigger but as we travel a lot with two dogs and a bunch of stuff, a little bit more cargo space would be really helpful. We dont stack things in the back to the point where they are piling over the seats or we are unable to see out of the rear view window.

I booked and prepaid to have my windshield replaced by Honda in Concord. I paid on May 15th, prior to going to SFO to catch a flight. I was informed by the representative at Honda, that the glass people would need payment up front, and then book a date and time and the glass people will come to Honda and install. Well, here I am, Tuesday, May 28th, been here since prior to 8.30 a.m. My appointment was at nine. First of all, I was told they had no record of our payment for the windshield, which was paid on the 15th. I told them I have the record on my credit card. They said they still dont have record, they then located it after taking my car and finding the receipt in the center console.Anyway, here I am sitting at Honda, Concord, CA, 1.38 p.m., the service person came over approx. 1 hour ago, saying the car had GONE to the window place, and it will take almost all day. Okay, what happened to the window people coming here?!? Also, I have sat here for over 4 hours, unable to go to the bathroom, in case they happened to say it was ready. Also, we paid a large amount of money for a warranty, every time we come in, they cant find it on the computer, and they charge us!! Why dont they ask the financial department, as they have got it from there once before after a fuss from my husband. Now, my husband called, asking to speak to the General Manager of Honda Concord, and was told he wasnt allowed to speak to him. Was he asked to leave a message for the General Manager? No!!! He was told to leave a message for the Service Manager, who is apparently in a meeting and will call my husband back. Lets see how long that takes....

I purchased a 2010 Honda Accord from Anderson Honda in Maryland. When I purchased my vehicle, I inquired about getting a bluetooth device installed. I was told that if I got the device as part of my purchase that it would be covered under 3-year 36,000 mile warranty that came with the car. I purchased it (the item is on my Vehicle Purchase Agreement) and subsequently, the car went from MD to CA with my daughter. The bluetooth device is now dropping calls, and my daughter went to get it repaired in CA. Miller Honda told her it was aftermarket, and they would not fix it. I called Anderson and my sales representative, Jim **, told me, “Oh that was if the car was here in Maryland.” I told him that at the time I told him I was taking the car to my daughter in California and he said it will be covered under the car’s 3-year 36,000 mile warranty. I am angry, because I financed this item when I could have paid cash for it and had it installed after the purchase. Also, I was told that this was a factory Honda item (Hands Free Link), and if I knew it was an aftermarket item, I may have gotten a NAV or more sophisticated item for my money. Finally, I am angry because Honda is not living up to its obligations and lied to me to get me to purchase this item that they now do not want to stand behind. I had a bad experience years ago with a Renault and have stayed away from companies that I thought were not reputable. I should have stayed with Toyota, I guess. I bought a second hand car from Honda in May last year (2017). This would be my first ever time buying a car. Everything went fine within the sales and I loved this car, which was a Holden Cruze 2014. I didnt have enough money saved and I did not have my apprenticeship long to afford it so I opted for the finance and was told everything about finance through my sales rep. The finance seemed good my circumstance and I went through with it. The finance women I spoke to was Ellie **. I stated my terms to her about the whole thing. She told me it would be a 5 year contract with 1 year fixed. After the 1 year fixed was up I could pay it all out with no interest or added fees. It seemed perfect for me and she went through it a couple of times to me. I felt it was perfect and she was in my corner for the finance.Something seemed fishy after I noticed I had no car user manual in the car. I called them up a lot and even visited. I never got any word back on the whereabouts of my car manual. Not until Monday (25th March, 2018). I called up again and spoke to a Michael. He followed everything up and ended up ordering me a new book. I then called up my finance, Skyline Car Finance about how much was owing and when my 1 year fixed would end. Thats where it went bad because they told me it was a 5 year fixed contract and that I would need to follow up with my dealership. I contacted Ellie who told me there was no such thing as a 1 year and that I would save on interest and theres an early exit fee. I went in today on a Saturday (31st March, 2018). I collected my book and talked to Ellie. She told me that it was a 5 year fixed from the start and that I misinterpreted it and that I should read my contract. I feel as if I have been sucked into a contract I would never have signed if I knew this. She also told me that heaps of people come in with the same reason I have. So the real question is, how many people is ripping off?

Now Im officially freaked out. I bought a 2021 new HR-V from Huntington Honda (NY) and I’m discovering this new car with all this rust. I showed it to two local mechanics who are shocked and confused as to why there is rust underneath the steering column. I also noted the rust underneath my 31-day old 2021 Honda HR-V. Is this normal? And is there missing insulation in the photo next to the steering column? Is that maybe why these models make a horrible annoying noise when driving 35 plus miles an hour? I’m talking about a piercing whistling noise whenever I crack open a window or moon roof, which according to Huntington Honda, the noise appeared in 2 other 2021 HR-Vs they test drove, and I’m supposed to live with this as if it’s normal. There’s video of this whistling issue in YouTube regarding a 2018 HR-V. In the comments for that video, you’ll see many other Honda HR-V owners complain about the same issue. Did I buy a lemon? Does Honda make bad cars or does Huntington just sell a batch of badly built Hondas. Im wondering if the 0% APR was just a ploy so they could get rid of defectively built cars. I bought this new HRV because I wanted a safe vehicle for my family. The purchase was supposed to be such a joyous thing. What a mistake! My entire family is flipping out! What the hell else is wrong w this car?Anyone experiencing this with the new Hondas or cars from Huntington Honda? Would I have had a better luck at a different Honda dealer? Should I have bought a Toyota, Nissan, or Hyundai? Im super stressed about how much I spent on this car, and no one from the dealer is calling me back, responding timely or willing to help me resolve this. BTW, heres the YouTube video of the horrible noise that these Hondas are making. **

I bought a 2013 Honda CRV. The battery would drain after 2-3 days of sitting idle. I got it checked repeatedly at the Honda service department when I bought the vehicle. They kept saying the parasitic draw was within specification, and to disconnect the battery cables if it was going to sit for more than 2 days. So each time I park the car on a Sunday and dont move again until Friday (I walk to work), I have to disconnect the cables, or use a solar charger (I park underground heated parking at my condo). They said it was fine and just to drive it more, for 1.5 hrs at a time every couple days to charge up the battery. Ridiculous! I own two other vehicles (different brands) and they can sit for a couple weeks and start no problem. Never had this before, and have since heard it is common on Hondas. I traded it in for a different vehicle and will never buy a Honda again. Honda Canada customer department refused to acknowledge the problem, as did the dealership.

I tried to visit the official agent, who refused to accept it since he is unable to fix electrical problems in hybrid cars. I was forced to go to local people who replaced the IMA battery twice till now and Im still having the problem. I really like Honda cars, but I am fully disappointed. Can I find a solution?

I leased a car from Acura (Acura TL). However, my experience was not as great. They scratched my car when it was in service, told me I would get a $250 credit if I fix the car but I cant get my money from them. The service manager at Yonge and Steels location is rude and irresponsible. For the end of lease inspection, they charged me for scratches on the rims although the mileage on the car was only 40000 KM, no accidents and in a very good condition.I am going to go public about this issue and make sure I would let anyone I can know about the experiences they can go through if they lease any car from Honda or Acura. I believe it is everybodys responsibility to inform others about these kind of problems they might face.

When I bought my 05 Honda Accord Hybrid, I was told the hybrid battery would last to 150,000 to 200,000 miles. At 81,000, just after the warranty expired, the check engine & IMA (hybrid battery) light came on. I paid $300 for a software upgrade at the time & was assured by Honda Customer Service that they would stand by their product. Over the next couple of years, the lights came on periodically and Ive had to pay for additional software upgrades. The last time it happened, the lights came on again less than 30 days later. Now Honda is saying the battery is bad and needs to be replaced, at my expense. I have called several dealers and gotten estimates ranging from $2,700 to $5,700 (for parts only). When I purchased this car, I was told the battery would cost $2,000 or less. Now Im stuck with a car that will not pass a state safety inspection without paying several thousand dollars for a replacement battery. On top of it, the car has NEVER gotten the mileage Honda claimed it would get. In fact, it gets WORSE mileage than my last Honda Accord.

Don’t even waste your breath with this. I got a flat tire on the highway and all they could do for me was tow my car to the nearest dealership. Couldn’t change the flat with my own spare either- just a tow. The lady helping me said I needed to give her an exact address- well I was traveling and I had no idea where I was. Also, after 30 minutes I called the towing company they dispatched and no one was even on their way yet... ended up calling non-emergency police and they came out in 10 minutes and changed my flat to my spare. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE WITH HONDA.

Unfair denial of warranty for my 2010 Honda Rancher with VIN ** purchased on 10/22/2011.On 7/16/2011, the transmission locked up, less than nine months after purchase. I took it to Donelson Cycles in St. Ann, MO to be repaired since it was still under warranty. I was told by the service manager that their Honda representative denied any warranty assistance. I then called Honda Customer Support and was told they would investigate further and get back with me within a couple days.On 7/27/2011, I received a call from Honda Customer Support and was told Honda Warranty assistance was denied because I used an aftermarket oil filter.Being a loyal Honda consumer for many years, I was very disappointed and surprised at their decision to deny any repair assistance. I consulted with an attorney and he suggested I try and resolve this issue prior to retaining his service to move forward with legal action.I would be satisfied if Honda honored their warranty or at least offered reasonable assistance.

I am highly disappointed in the service I’ve received from Honda Customer Service. I leased a 2017 Honda Accord Sport and have had nothing but issues from day 1. The dealership has done an exceptional job trying to resolve the issues, where Honda Customer Service lacks the ability to serve their customers and document cases open accurately. I’ve had issues from the gas tank release being broken in the first week to a constant wind noise coming from the driver side window or door seal. In addition, I had to take my car in once again for a heavy vibration when breaking. I’ve made several trips to get these things resolved and Honda Customer Service has a very unsatisfied customer on their hands. I will definitely reconsider going with Honda in the future and I have two of them. Hopefully Honda executives realize the lack of quality support with their Customer service group.

I reluctantly left my car at the dealership for the repair as I was unable to reach another auto repair shop over the Thanksgiving Day holiday. This will be the last Honda that I will ever purchase. My son bought a 2003 Honda Accord. Three days after it was purchased, it wouldnt go into 3rd gear unless he just stepped on it or waited for the transmission to decide what to do. He asked the friend and she stated that it did it a few times with her and was told it was a clogged valve but nothing major. He checked with Honda and found out there was a recall; however, wouldnt you know the recall on the transmission had nothing to do with the problem he was facing. I started to do some research and see if there were other people with the same issue. I was absolutely astonished at how many complaints were filed with Honda and blogs and BBB and Consumer Affairs with the same exact problem. Ironically enough, the issues with all the complaints were that it was after all the warranties were expired, go figure. I decided to call Honda and just speak to them to see if Honda was investigating the issue since there were so many complaints, and the previous recall had nothing to do with this issue. Well, I was told that since we bought the car as is, Honda will not investigate the issue. I explained that we can get the lady we bought it from to call and she said that didnt matter because we bought the car, it was now in our name. Really? So you will listen to my complaint and I can file one with you, but basically you dont care because we just bought the car. The CS spokeswoman told me, Maam, I am more than willing to file your complaint, but yes, because you just purchased the car, there is nothing Honda can do. Wow, so you mean to tell me that there are thousands of complaints about the same issue, same model, same year and Honda is not willing to investigate the issue at hand? I have told my son, let this be a lesson learned, dont go by what everyone tells you that Hondas are good cars and they last forever, blah, blah, blah. I would even understand if there were only a few complaints about this issue. But I was amazed at how many there were about this and yet there seems to be no ongoing investigation to see if there was something that could be done. I am so very disappointed in Honda and their lack of concern about the safety and satisfaction of their consumers.

I made a complaint to the dealer, and they said the steering hardness is because of the alloy wheels. And I tried changing the alloy wheels to normal wheels, and to my surprise, the hardness is still the same. It does look like I will get a solution for the problem, unless the matter is escalated to the Honda Motors corporation. I purchased a new 2009 Honda Accord Coupe, 4 cylinder, and after about 35,000 miles, I started experiencing excessive oil consumption. Oil is being lost at the rate of 1 qt. per 1,000 miles. I do not see any oil on my garage floor, so I can only assume it is burning it slowly. This is my second Accord, by the way, and I drive 25,000 miles per year, so I know darn well what the usage rate is. I went online to see if any other people had experienced this, and was surprised to find out that many other owners are having this problem, all across the US, in fact. The car was under warranty, so I called American Honda, and they told me to take it to a dealer, so that a diagnostic could be run, but they admitted that there was a recall for this problem. They said there was a software update, which should solve the problem. I was highly skeptical that software could fix it, but I played along. The next day, I took the car to Herb Chambers Honda in Burlington, MA for a diagnostic. They didnt see anything in the codes, and no visible signs of leakage. They did the software upgrade, and changed the oil, and told me to come back when (if) the oil level hit the low point on the dip stick. At about 2,700 miles, 1/27/12, the oil light came on today. I took the car back today, and they told me it had a little over 2 quarts of oil in it. It lost roughly 2 quarts per 1,000 miles. There was no change after the software upgrade at all. Actually, there was a change. My gas mileage went from high 20s to low 20s on the highway. They actually made the car worse. The dealer told me that 1 quart per 1,000 miles is normal for any car. I almost fell over, when they said that. In all my years of driving, including cars from the 60s and 70s, I have never seen a car come anywhere close to that. They actually thought I would buy that story. It is unbelievable! So, I called American Honda, to speak with the case manager that had been assigned to my case, and was expecting him to be all apologetic, and say that they would resolve the problem. Not a chance! He used the same line the dealer did, with the 1 qt. per 1,000 miles being normal usage. I was outraged! I just couldnt believe it. A multiple car Honda owner, and they didnt care the slightest about me, or their product. They could have made a customer for life by fixing it, but instead, they made an enemy for life. Now, Im stuck with a 2 year old piece of junk, and have no choice but to trade it in. Ill never buy another product from Honda, ever again, and I will be sure tell my story to everyone I come in contact with.

I did request my mechanic buy a HONDA starter, not some knock off brand. We shall see if this starter works.I spoke to customer service at Honda USA in Calif. and they told me they were unaware of this issue. Go online. My 2004 Honda Civic EX Sedan was a great car all in all until just a few days ago when I was sitting at a stop light at almost rush hour in a busy metro area with my foot on the break. Suddenly the car went into an uncontrolled, unintended acceleration. I could hear the engine rev and I just froze with horror. A few seconds later it crashed into the car in front of me and stopped and turned off. I was extremely lucky that 1) that car was there or I would have gone into a busy intersection and 2) my daughter was not in the car. The driver I crashed into and the valet guys from the hotel across the street saw I was extremely shaken up but alert and in my right mind. The mechanics can fix the damage caused by the impact but since this is such a rare problem, they probably wont be able to identify what went wrong or prevent it from happening again so Ill have to trash the car. Given that several people had to die for Toyota to take any responsibility for their problems with unintended acceleration and that there have been several complaints to Honda of cars with this problem with no recompense, I am extremely unhappy to hear the existing complaints have not led to a recall or that almost certainly my complaint will be completely ignored.

Wife purchased a 2019 Ridgeline. At 89 miles vehicle would not start and was towed to Honda. Since then the vehicle has 1200 miles and has broken down 4 times. 3 times it was towed for not starting and the only reason it wasnt towed a fourth time was that it literally broke down at the dealership after they had it for two days diagnosing why it would not start. Literally did not drive 100 feet and the transmission stopped working. Talked with customer service a few times so far. INFURIATING!! On my first call I was informed rather quickly I would NOT be getting my money back or a new truck. When asked what they were going to do for me... wait for it... they said They would call them and tell them to fix it right!!! AWESOME!!! In subsequent conversations all customer service regurgitates is warranty and repair talking points. At NO time will they discuss the consistent breakdowns as a problem nor will they let me speak to anyone above them. They disconnected me yesterday as I refuse to sit and listen to someone rattle off the business talking points. I would think any reasonable person would expect their new vehicle to not break down 4 times in the first 1200 miles. Seems Honda doesnt mind how many times it happens. Because remember... they will call and have them fix it right. NEVER AGAIN!!

In my case, service rep found that cylinder head is damaged and after keeping me on phone for several hours and keep me waiting for 2 days they replied they wont cover. This costed me $2500 which is same if I take it to other mechanic (quoted $2900 to rebuild whole engine).

I purchased a 2012 Accord Crosstour last fall. It is top of the line, two wheel drive. After running 5 full tanks of gasoline, I averaged between 19.375 and 20.375 mpg consistently in that range (half city and half interstate driving). I called Eskridge Honda, where I bought it and told them my problem. I live in Shawnee, OK, about 40 miles East of Eskridge, the Oklahoma City dealer. The person at Eskridge told me to bring it in. I did and when the maintenance manager looked at the mileage, which was then around 340 miles, he said to me, sorry, Honda will not let me touch this car until it has 10,000 miles on it. I now have over 2,000 miles on the car (02/06/2012). I still get the same mileage per full tank. I think this is one of the best looking cars on the road. It is black outside with black inside trim. I really dont understand the 10,000 miles requirement before the car can be checked out. I have bought several new cars in my lifetime. My last three cars have been Hondas, an accord (top of the line with navigation) and the one before that was a Civic (top of the line with navigation). I got the kind of gas mileage the sticker stated, very good. They got good gas mileage during the first tank of gas that I ran through them and did the last tank of gas that I ran through them. That has been my experience with every car that I ever bought. Always a new car would get the best gas mileage when it was brand new than later on. This talk about it needs to be broke in first has never panned out with the experience that I have had. I am writing this email mainly to check if this in fact Hondas policy. I would like to hear back from you but not from an attorney. Just tell me if this is your policy that you wont check the car out until it has 10,000 miles on the odometer.

2008 Honda Civic EX - Sept. 2013 with 105,000 miles, the AC intermittently would not work. Refrigerant was good. Eventually by early 2015 would hardly work at all. Taken to Honda dealer where I purchased the car new. There were metal shavings that looked like sand in the system. $3,800 to repair. Wife drove the car exclusively so heres what most likely happened. Compressor went bad in 2013 but still worked and probably made some noise at some point and should have been replaced then. Our fault to some degree, but the point is these compressors only have a shelf life. Ive had numerous Hondas and never had compressor problems. Wish I had known, would have never bought the car. Also, I talked to the service rep and he advised me that HR-V have the same problem. Will do everything possible to have Honda reimburse all who had/will AC compressors going bad.

I have a 2010 Honda Accord 4cl and have over 99,000 miles on it. I have brought my car in and also called the Dover, NH location. My car is using more than the 5qt. oil amount when I get my oil changed. Your employees response, I could pay for an oil change and maybe be reimbursed; However, if it is more than a quart over a 1,000 miles they wont pay for it. So, basically Honda is aware of the problem and is bullying customers! There is a recall and an extended warranty. I showed them the paper I received from Honda about the pistons sticking etc. My car is starting to make a noise also when it starts as well. I need it fixed. No one should have to go back several times to have an issue fixed. Just like the airbags! People are dying and your company should be fixing these issues. I have been very nice and patient. Your employees, NOT!!!

Certified used warranty is a scam. Honda sold me a certified used vehicle under their program that guarantees a 151-point inspection. Right out of the dealership, the car had a burnt accessory fuse, missing tire change tools, and garbage in the spare tire well under the trunk. This leads me to believe they did not check all the fuses and they did not check to see if a spare tire was even included with the vehicle, let alone properly inflated. They did not offer compensation for failing to check these points in their original inspection and they did not agree to perform another 151-point inspection at my request. It is now 14 months after I purchased the vehicle and only about 8,000-9,000 miles on the car from since we bought it. The power steering pump had a major failure; repair is quoted at $740.01. They refuse to repair the vehicle at no cost since non-powertrain warranty only covers 12-months/12,000 miles. I would typically accept this response, but I feel as if the car was never fully inspected like they advertised. A power steering pump should not have a major failure after 8,000-9,000 miles. I should not have this much difficulty explaining my frustration to Honda, a company that prides itself on reliable cars and helpful people, especially with such low mileage on the vehicle.

VSA warning light came on in my 2009 Honda Accord. Dealership said perfectly fine to drive, just a warning light. Next day I had to have my car towed to the dealer. They are telling me 4 timing teeth stripped off $980 and 4 bent valves which they can give me NO cost for except if they cant fix/replace the valves I am looking at $4000 for a new head. Mind you I have owned and perfectly maintained this car at the same dealer since brand new and the timing belt has 84000 miles now and its not recommended to change until 105000 miles. The dealer doesnt care and I started a case with American Honda and they care EVEN LESS... HONDA IS SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT!!!

I have sent my car and reported the problem that I am facing. Honda Sri Utama advised me to change my engine oil and all four new tire, which doesnt make sense at all. After spending a lot of money to do so, I am still facing the same problem with the transmission. I went back and reported but they require me to meet the engineer from Honda Malaysia. He couldnt solve my problem but claims that theres nothing wrong with the transmission. Ive checked with several street workshop and there is a problem with the transmission which Honda is denying. I went back to Honda and the dealer I bought the car from, finally said that they do not know what is the problem. This is cheating. My son purchased a new 2013 Honda CRX from Colby Honda, Northridge, CA. When he took his car in for the last service they impounded his car for what they said, a period of about two months. Further, they told him he would not receive his car back until the airbag is replaced or he signed a waiver releasing Honda from any liability for damage or injury caused by the faulty airbag. The dealership did provide my son with a poor quality 2002 loaner car that had 100,040 miles on the odometer. Last week he took a trip and the cars engine warning light came on.In the meantime my son is making the monthly payments for his impounded Honda CRX. He tried to contact Honda Corporation and was referred back to the dealership. The customer service person at the dealership was rude and not helpful. I believe Honda should provide its customer with a loan car that is at least equal to the car he is making payments on or waive his scheduled payments until they return his car. The airbag problem is the responsibility of Honda, not the customer. I would assume numerous other customers are dealing with this same issue. In the meantime, Honda continues to sell and deliver new cars that must have compliant airbags. What can be done to correct the problem?

Ive been maintaining my vehicle in your service center namely KAH Motor located in Sungai Pinang, Penang, Malaysia. Six months back, I had complained about sounds from the bottom of my car bonnet. The service engineer helped to check, but could not find the root cause of the sound. Id sent my car for checking for 3 times during the past 6 months, no results. Finally, a month back they told me they found the cause. But, the spare parts need to be ordered from others. They said theyd filed a complaint to Honda HQ and the warranty claim has been approved, spare part should be arriving within 1st week of Apr.12. Sadly, they did not update me even after 15/4/12. When I called up, they said the spare part had not arrived and they do not know when it is arriving. What an irresponsible answer?! They didnt even bother to highlight my problem to their top management and get my case solved. After all, Ive been waiting for 6 months to confirm the root cause of the sounds. And now, another infinity date to wait for the repairs?! This is totally unacceptable! I am a heavy user of this vehicle and I need to be safe on the road. I need this to be resolved.

The Honda dealership we were familiar with I had test drove cars there before. We went there after we got a online sale price. They were wonderful to deal with. Answered all our questions. Took both cars as trade-ins. Explained all the bells and whistles of the car to us. I love that it is 4 wheel drive-a crossover from a SUV. The back seats fold down completely. The back doors blend in giving the car an awesome look plus it has the wiper in the back window, cameras in the back and on the right to turn.

I left Detroit Metro Airport at 6:30 p.m. after a flight from Mexico with my kids. My Honda Odyssey had 1,500 on it - less than 1 month old. I got a flat tire at Ford Road and 269. I had paid for tire and wheel protection (as well as roadside assistance) so I thought, no big deal. I pulled into a sketchy gas station and called Honda Roadside Assistance (RSA) at just before 7 p.m. The guy on the other end asked for my make and model number (and VIN) and asked if he could use my phone to geolocate me. I said fine. I still had to read him the address of the gas station THREE times and he sent a tow truck from 40 minutes away. This is Detroit, mind you. There are tow trucks on every corner. I called the tow company and they said they could be there at 8:45... I had two children with me. I asked the Honda RSA guy where the spare tire was located so I could change it myself. He said, Do you have a spare? I said, I have had this vehicle for 3 weeks. I dont know. I was hoping you would. He said he would, Pray for me. I dont think prayer is a course of action. He also told me to check the trunk of the car for the spare. I had to tell him that minivans dont have trunks. He asked if the spare might be under the car. Again, I said ... its a minivan, not a car. I asked it he had access to the owners materials online. He said, I dont think so. Before the tow truck could arrive, I had: Foraged behind a dumpster for stones to brace my van; Consulted the owners manual for instructions; Found the spare and jack; Changed the tire. This was awesome considering the RSA guy told me they would only tow me to the closest dealership (60 miles away from my house) and leave me there if I couldnt change the tire myself or find an Uber/Family to take me home. The only other option was to pay $5/mile for a tow back to Lansing. Wait... Whaaaat? I thought that was why I had RSA??? I changed the tire myself. They called me three times on the way home to tell me the tow had been delayed. I took the wheel/tire to Honda today to get it replaced. They will, indeed, replace the tire... But not the spare. The spare specifically says for limited use only and says no more than 70 miles. At this point I have 100+ miles on it. I want a new spare, too. They said they would replace it if it was punctured. So now I have to wait until Im double stranded to get that stuff replaced. STUPID, just stupid.

I brought my car (Honda Crosstour) into service in which I have an extended warranty and purchased a service plan. One month later I experienced a short in which all the electronics of the car went dead. I took the car into the same service center and I was told water is in the navigation unit. This is located at the back area on the right side. The first problem was the service team was not able to find out the cause of the problem. They did not provide me with options or update me that the warranty does not cover water damage. The service area open up the car and discovered water flowed into the navigation electrical unit area at the back of the car. The first words that came out of the service manager was oh well maybe someone played a prank on you and threw water in there, I dont know how water got in there. Its been a week. I have no car and they will not give me a loaner. They want my insurance to cover the cost which is about 3900 for the navigation unit and about another 1000 approx in labor costs. The insurance adjuster stated that this leak was not due to a minor bumper accident that I had 6 months prior. The service manager indicated that water may be leaking through there. The insurance will therefore not cover this item. So I am left without car, and attempts at escalation is arduous and stressful. This is the first time I am a Honda owner and if this situation is not resolved by Honda I will never be one again!

Okay, I was a very, very firm believer in owning a Honda. My entire family literally is driving one or has owned one. Even a lot of my extended family and I always vouched for them when people asked about my car. After I found out about the recall in June of 2016, through my sister mind you, I immediately wondered why I was barely finding out about my airbag recall now when someone people had known months before. Later that day I went onto the website to punch in my VIN number and check to see if my vehicle was a part of the unlucky bunch. Unfortunately, it was and my passenger bag was the airbag up for recall. And it just so happens that my boyfriends Honda, which is the same make and model as mine but a year newer, had the same passenger airbag recall as mine.So I called to speak with someone. They gave me the same bit as everyone. You can still drive it. Just dont have a passenger. But I did try to explain my boyfriend had the same problem and if we could just get one alternate transportation vehicle because we are not about to take two separate cars to the grocery store, out of town, or anywhere else that requires us to carpool. They just gave me some ** excuse that there was nothing they could do. For now I should avoid having anyone sit in the passenger side. They suggested I would be fine because my airbag shuts off when no one is in the passenger side and I tried to explain to them MANY, MANY times that my light doesnt turn on to indicate that my airbag is off and of course, same thing goes for my boyfriends car. Of course, that made their ears perk up and I finally got their attention. Or so I thought.Long story short, I called another 15 times, give or take. Every time I got the runaround and no one could help me. Its now the middle of August and someone has FINALLY returned my call regarding this and wouldnt you know it, Ive been denied alternate transportation and they will just order me the part to have my car repaired. Who knows when that will even be. Of course, I may have to pay out of pocket for the defective off switch on the airbag so that was some GREAT news to hear.Regardless, fixing my passenger airbag off switch doesnt fix my problem at all. Both me and my boyfriend have the same car with the same problem. We live together and have NO other means of transportation when we run errands or go out of town. The fact that Honda is just going to take a chance with mine or my boyfriends life is just remarkable. Thank you Honda for showing me your true colors. I will NEVER, EVER purchase another Honda again and I dont plan to refer people to your business. I do plan to tell people of my experience with your company and how youve handled this recall. My recommendation, dont buy a Honda. Avoid, at all costs, purchasing a Honda. Worst customer service of the year. Honda, you are all cowards and I hope you get whats coming to you.

Well let me start by saying Honda has been my go-to for many years, 14 Honda automobiles, 10 Honda motorcycles, 6 pieces of Honda outdoor power equipment. I must say though the last 2006 Honda Civic that I purchased with 64K miles has bittered me after having to put a motor in this car for a problem that Honda knew they had but refused to stand behind it. After some minor research I have discovered Honda had a major engine block casting problem between 2006-2009 in the civics. I think a recall would have been a better choice for Honda owners rather than a lousy extended warranty period. Honda informed me that I was just out of luck, after all the car does have 64K miles. How much more were you expecting? It was very misfortunate for me as I bought the car privately. What was even sadder is that I am really convinced that the people who sold me this car knew there was a problem, they possibly received the same great customer service from Honda that I did. VERY POOR HONDA MOTOR COMPANY. THE SAYING GOES ONE UPSET CUSTOMER GOES FURTHER THAN ONE HAPPY CUSTOMER!

I bought a Galaxy Gray Honda Civic LX Sedan new on Memorial Day weekend in 2008. In 2014, I noticed that the paint on the roof was fading (it looked like it had been rubbed really hard in some areas and just came off). A 6-year old car with fading paint? That made no sense, so I checked and found there was a Honda bulletin issued addressing the paint issues and that they would repaint the affected areas. I took it to the dealer where I bought it, they kept it for two weeks and didnt offer me a loaner. They acted like they were doing me this huge favor by repainting it for free. They had a body shop repaint the roof, hood, and front fenders. I thought that was the end of it. Well, at about 7.5 years of age, the paint started coming off the trunk. I went back to the dealer and was told sorry, its out of warranty. We cant do anything for you. Now the car is 9 years old and the paint is coming off two of the doors as well as the trunk. Also, the rubber stripping along both sides of the windshield cracked and broke off, and the rubber trim along two of the windows has done the same. Im very disappointed. This is my third Honda Civic; I previously had an 89 and a 98 and had no problems like this. My car only has 87,000 miles on it, so it should last me at least another 9 years; its just going to look like crap unless I spend $$$ to repaint it. Why didnt Honda just repaint the entire car when they had it? The quotes Im getting to repaint the affected areas range from $1500 to $2100. I trusted Honda due to my previous experiences, but this will be my last Honda. When Consumer Reports asked me if I would buy this car again, I had to answer No. When I hear or see those Helpful SoCal Honda Dealer commercials, I turn the channel. Theyll help complete strangers with things, but they wont help their own customers! Their quality has really gone downhill and they just dont seem to care.

We love this car (Honda HRV 2016) but this is the first model of the HRV and it rattles considerably on the doors as well as the driver odometer panel. We have taken it in to be serviced twice but no one can seem to fix it. I also think it’s a little noisy and the windows seem loose when they are lower than a quarter of an inch down. But we are planning to lease a new one which we have test driven. I think those bugs have been worked out. It’s a perfect car for a small family like ours!

I purchased a 2013 Honda Accord and my back glass shattered last week. Although Honda said it was factory defect, they would only cover 60% and I had to cover 40% because the car was out of warranty. REALLY if is a factory defect how can I be held responsible for 40%. I had to pay out of pocket $458. Furthermore, I just got a quote from Safelite auto glass for $319.00. How can it be possible that I paid more than what the glass is worth. On top of this my car has 2 recall, charging system problem and battery sensor. I always thought highly of Honda however with this experience I am very dissatisfied.

I have a 2010 Honda Accord EX-L 4 Cyl (45,000 miles and bought new) and it burns oil between changes. I have spoken to mechanics, friends and family and everyone is in agreement that cars do not burn oil unless they are old or have a mechanical issue. The first time I brought it to my dealers attention, the service rep. agreed that was normal. This was in Aug. of this year. They set me up on an oil consumption test. Also, I should mention that when it begins to burn the oil, my oil lamp light indicator flickers and my engine makes a tapping noise when I accelerate every so often. I went back in 2,000 miles later for a check and was told that the oil was fine and that the software update they preformed in August should take care of my issue. (Ive seen no advertised recalls on this yet they have the software update out there) At 6,000 miles, the lamp light came on again and my engine began making the tapping noise. I was ready for my normal change anyhow. Took it in to my dealer, explained I was still having the same issue. They found it to be 3/4 a quart low and their mechanic said this was normal for 6,000 miles of driving. My concern though is that my power train warranty will be up in another year or so and I am worried my engine has already suffered damage since it makes that tapping noise. Service rep said at the latest oil change that he has seen 5-10 of these cases come through and that the software update should remedy it. I am going to formally write Honda so they will at least have my concern on file. Service rep said Id be highly considered if I needed my engine replaced after my warranty is up since I have been documenting everything. But overall, I am disgusted that I pay what I pay a month for a brand that is supposed to be excellent yet I am having issues. If this continues and nothing is done, I can promise I wont be buying another Honda and Ill make sure all around me know my experiences.

I have been a loyal repeat customer of Honda for 26 years and have purchase
I have been a loyal repeat customer of Honda for 26 years and have purchased three new Honda Accords in that time. My first purchase was a 1991 Honda Accord in which I put over 100,000 miles on it before gifting it to my sister who put an additional 100,000 miles on it. I was so pleased with my Honda, that I purchased a new 2005 Honda Accord which I gave to my son for his graduation. I purchased the third Honda Accord in 2008 which I gave to my daughter in 2013. All services for all vehicles were performed through Conicelli Honda, previously known as Sport Honda. I never had an issue with them or Honda until this week. I reside in Pennsylvania and my daughter moved to Chicago after graduating from college at Northwestern University. She continued maintenance services with Castle Honda and Grossinger Honda while living in Chicago per my recommendation to always have it serviced through Honda. My daughter was leaving work and the car made a rattle noise and then stalled and locked up when she approached a stop sign. She called me in a panic and after explaining to me what happened I advised her not to drive it and recommended that she have it towed to the dealership. She said that there was no engine indicator light on and neither was the oil lamp so she had no warning that there was an issue other than the car stalling on her and locking up. I advised her to get a hotel room since it was already midnight by the time the tow truck driver arrived. The next day the technician at Grossing Honda advised that the engine needed to be overhauled for approximately $3,700.00 or replace the engine for $13,000.00. I thought the technician was highly mistaken since there was only approximately 50,000 miles currently on the car. I asked what caused the problem and he said there was nothing that my daughter did to cause it but just something that happens when the pistons shift. This explanation did not appear to be normal to me since I have never had any issues such as this before with my other Honda vehicles. Therefore, I decided to do some research and found that American Honda had prior knowledge of a defect and related conditions regarding the engine on the 2008 to 2011 Honda Accord Coupes and Sedans in addition to the 2010 to 2011 CRV SUVs using an excess of oil consumption that lead to carbon deposits on the piston rings, which eventually reduced the rings effectiveness allowing the oil to seep past. This explained why the technician said there was nothing that my daughter did to cause it nor would she had any indication that there was an issue since she always took it to have the oil changed every 3,000 miles.Unfortunately, being a loyal customer of Honda for 26 years didnt seem to matter because the dealership nor Honda advised that an extended warranty was issued on these engines to 8 years or 125,000 miles from the original purchase date whichever came first. I purchased this vehicle on June 18, 2008 so the warranty expired a year ago on June 18, 2016. I telephoned American Honda (800) 999-1009 ext. 7 and was assigned a Case No. ** due to my dissatisfaction concerning these repairs and explained that the engine overhaul could have been prevented had Honda conducted an oil consumption test when the vehicle was in for service previously due to the engine light coming on/off. The technician provided me with the diagnostic trouble codes: P0300 and P0339 and informed me that the history on the vehicle did show that it had a history of oil consumption which was never conveyed to my daughter.Unfortunately, in conveying this to the case manager at American Honda; he was not only reluctant but refused to be understanding or sympathetic and stated that nothing could be done since the warranty expired and that he couldnt offer any resolution to remedy the problem, even knowing that I have been a loyal customer for years. He only asked what I expected him to do about it and ultimately, I was fully taken aback and expected any type of acknowledgement that Honda is at fault for allowing this to happen when they knew of the defect and could have prevented the problem sooner and should have at least offered to lower the labor rate of $148 or offered to reduce the bill since I was being penalized for the low mileage on the vehicle over the years. If there had been more miles on the vehicle sooner, the extended warranty would have covered the cost of the repairs and prevented this from happening. Now, I do not feel that I can trust the dealerships or Honda and plan to get rid of the vehicle and will never buy another Honda. As a business owner who recognizes the fundamental importance and value of great customer service was surprised that Honda does not share the same values or philosophy. So in the future, I will refrain from recommending anyone to buy a Honda as I have done so frequently over the years and will pursue being an advocate for consumer protection and awareness by educating everyone on this experience and suggest the importance of them conducting their own research on consumer reports to assure they are diligent in finding any potential issues. The cost of the repairs is not as shocking as the disregard for customer service and customer loyalty. Hopefully, Honda will recognize that each customer and experience is an important one whether good or bad. Being a business owner has allowed me to realize that all experiences may not be perfect but the best way to handle a situation when something goes wrong is to make it right because the rewards of doing so exceeds the negative impact when choose to do nothing.
