I purchased my 2009 Volkswagen cc at 72000 miles on November 2014. The same day I drove home I had a CEL turn on and off, I took it back, and the dealer changed 1 coil wire that was about to go bad. Thanks. Soon after (month later), my fuel pump and fuel pump module went out. I called and they said, No warranty. I went and purchased, 650 dollars with installation at brother in laws shop. Cheaper than dealer by $500. Then at 112000 miles my transmission went out. No warranty of course. That was 5k to replace and install. This was in March 2016. In April my fuel injector was misfiring. Replaced all injectors. Then in March 2017 my throttle body went out. No help all this time from VW group of America. Worthless to be honest. Now in October 2017 my fan went unbalanced. No more VW for me EVER!!!

My husband and me have been the proud owners of three new Volkswagen cars. We have always had our cars maintained only by the Donaldson Volkswagen dealership in Sayville, NY. Ever since I have owned my 2004 VW Beetle, I have noticed that the ignition cylinder lock. I verbally mentioned this several times to the Donaldsons Technicians and was told VW Beetle had been made this way and I was informed to wiggle the steering wheel and place my foot on the brake. I never check out this information given to me by the technicians. My beetle is now over 88,000 miles and without an extensive warranty. On 7/18/16 my car broke down and locked. My car had to be towed to the Donaldson dealership. I explained to technician this was an on going problems throughout the years that I owned the VW Beetle. I had to fix the car. The Donaldson Technician wrote: Found steering column locked. Mechanically faulty causing damage to ignition lock cylinder, removed and replaced ignition lock cylinder, removed and replaced steering column lock. This cost was $532.30 to repair. I asked the technician again if anything could be done with the cost of the repairs since this was an ongoing problem with the ignition lock cylinder. Technician replied, no, your warranty has expired and the car is over 88,000 miles. The technician gave me the VW Cares telephone number but I received the same comment from Improvement Customer Service person Martin ** as well as their team leader MaryJo ** who made the final decision. Both of them would not give me their last names. I learned two lessons from this experience. 1) I am not a value customer at VW Donaldson. 2) Check out an on going problem with your car and find out if this problem is ongoing with other VW 2004 Beetles. My husband and me were going to purchase two more VW cars but we learned our lesson from this experience.

Kateryna of Northfield, IL on Nov. 19, 2014. In reference to a review about Tiguan VW. I had the exact same chain of events including the sudden stopping of the engine, false lights, the computer fixing by the dealership. But my Tiguan 09 @52,000k stopped completely (engine) in a very cold/snow winter morning with our then 6-month old baby in the car. The car had to be towed!! The car was still under warranty 52,000 & less than 5 yrs. yet the dealer and VW refused to fix the car. We made payment To VW the car isnt working for 18 months. So we lost around $30k and we have no car! We have a second car its a Jetta 2011. We are experiencing similar issues and we feel absolutely frustrated dealing with VW. We are wasting too much time, energy and most of all money on VW. The worst experience ever twice!!

My son was parked with the engine running, listening to the radio. The engine burst into flames and exploded three times. He was parked up against a building across the street from our apartment. It was determined it was due to a malfunction in the engine, and we were reimbursed for the car by our insurance company. Our son could have been killed, but Volkswagen, which is doing a big ad campaign about safety, refuses to pay the building owner for the damage or to reimburse us for our $1000 deductible. There was a recall, but even though we bought the 2-year-old Bug from a dealership and had it serviced at a dealership, we were not advised of this major problem with the car. Forget safety in a VW. Forget responsible compensation from VW.

I bought a 2008 Volkswagen GTI less than 30 days ago. I noticed on the 2nd day the A/C and the 3rd gear was grinding. I notified the dealership. They said to bring the car in. On the 11th day of owning the vehicle, the car broke down. I notified the dealership that the car was not able to move and that it will need to be towed. They told me they would not pay for the tow and that if it had anything to do for the clutch, they wouldnt pay for that also. So I called my Roadside Assistance and towed the car to the nearest repair shop. They said there that the problem is in the transmission. The dealership still refuses to pay for the tow to their shop. I was also told by the service clerk that she spoke to the owner and he said that they would tow if it had to do with transmission or engine. But they have not done so. I have called and talked to the bank, and they have contacted the dealer. But still, nothing has happened. I call everyday, trying to talk to the owner or manager. And no phone calls have been returned. Theyre not honoring the warranty.

I lease a 2015 Volkswagen Tiguan. I pay for extended warranty. I have 57000 miles and 4 months left on my lease. A light came on so I called the service on Dec 22, 2018 and was told to bring my car in which I drove it in shop. The Volks service dept told me I need an engine because of an oil filter. Ive always changed my oil and I took care of my car. They want 12000 to fix it. My extended warranty refused to fix it and I have powertrain and Volkswagen customer care refuses to pay. I sent her copies of my oil changes with the plate number and mileage but they say thats not enough.I need my VIN number which the service station didnt put on. I even sent them copies of my friends oil changes which doesnt have her VIN number on it... Now they have my car for 2 weeks and nothing is being done. Volkswagen is the worst. They make you take extended warranties and the warranty company told me that they can not approve my claim because I am still covered under Volkswagen. This is amazing. The service dept told me I did this because of an oil filter. Did anyone ever heard about this? Besides all this now they say my car doesnt start or run.

I purchased a brand-new model of 2016 VW Golf GTI last year. I havent driven it much, which only has less than 4000 miles on it now. Recently, I had a flat tire due to the poor quality of Hankook tire (made in Korea) used by VW manufacturer. My flat tire happened when I was driving on a freeway (in very good condition) when the passenger side front tire suddenly burst a hole in its sidewall with no road hazard present. I called VW local dealership but was told to contact Hankook (the tire maker) directly by myself.Hankook did not follow the companys established procedure for handling tire warranty, but rushed to an arbitrary judgement on tire damage in its own favor, insisting on saying it was caused by road hazard. It never allowed the local VW dealership to fill out a tire warranty coverage claim form on my behalf. I paid $200+ out of my own pocket for tire replacement. I deeply regret that VW chose Hankook over other better tire brands. Hankook tires poor quality makes VW vehicles prone to road accidents. It also makes VW look cheap. For these reasons, I would strongly advise fellow motorists not to consider VW Golf GTI among their purchasing options.

I bought my 2010 VW CC sport a few months ago. I was pretty happy with it at first. I rolled 60K and took it down to Hallmark (Henderson TN) dealership. I asked for the 60k service that my manual stated it needed which includes the following: oil change, spark plugs and coils change, tire rotation, brake inspection. I paid 300 for all this to be completed. After leaving the dealership my car starts misfiring after only 20 min. I drive it home and called the dealership only to be told CARBON build up in the motor needed to be cleaned. (There is no carbon build up.) I asked for more details and they hung up. So I decided to look into my car and see what they actually did. Lo and behold the spark plugs were still in the car from 2014. They charged me $90 for the tune up that they did not even do. I looked at the coils and it was the same thing. Except the coils were the original 2010 ones. Now my car wont even stay running because of something that they did during their SERVICE. They want to charge me another 1300 for them to re-diagnose the issue and clean the non existent carbon. (The carbon was previously cleaned before taking it to them.) MY advice, do the basic maintenance yourself and dont ever visit this dealership. If I could afford to swap this VW off it would be gone like yesterday.

I come from a family of people that buy and purchase VWs. So naturally I bought one. However, I have had issues with my 2009 VW GTI (purchased brand new) since the start. When I first purchased my VW, there was a fuel issue, and they replaced it. Then there was a filter that stunk like mold, they replaced it. Then there was a recall on part of my transmission, they replaced it. My car started hesitating on the freeway when I accelerated, right after the recall replacement. I should have known by this time that the car needed to be traded, but I was stupid. I thought its a VW, they are great cars and so much fun to drive! Everything at this point got even worse. My battery died, or so I thought. I took it to VW and they told me that I needed a new computer. Somehow, insurance covered this and I ONLY had to pay my $500 deductible. I informed them that my car kept hesitating on the freeway. They said to drive it a certain amount of miles and it should reset. I did, and it didnt reset. After a few weeks, I took it back to the dealership. They said I need a new valve that was several hundred dollars. I called VW of America and they offered to pay for half, since it was a defect. Several weeks went by and the car started doing the same thing again. I took it back to the dealership they said its a valve that needs to be replaced. They covered the cost of the valve because it was part of the original issue. I picked it up. The next day, the engine light went off again, and the car was still hesitating. After several days, I called the dealership. They told me it was bad gas and to refuel it and drive around. I did this. After several days, I again took the car back to the dealership. This time, they said it was another valve, and they replaced it. They also told me that if the engine code came on again that they would have to replace the turbo. So now they are telling me that I need a new turbo and have to pay $2200.00. Everything else they were willing to cover because it was part of the covered recall issue, but now that its $2200.00 I have to pay for it. I called VW of America to see if they could help. The woman said that they arent going to pay for it and that its not their responsibility. I said, Thats funny because you knew it was your responsibility up until it was $2200.00. She told me that is her final decision, there was no one above her and thats it. I now have a car that needs new turbo... I am beyond upset and will never buy or drive a VW again! I am trying to sell my piece of crap because I cant even look at it with getting pissed off. The woman by the way did offer me a $750 credit towards a new VW. I have to admit I was speechless. She was willing to give me $750 towards a new car, but not towards my problem that I called about???? Thats ridiculous.

I own a 2013 GTI and in November 2015 the water pump started leaking fluid. After taking the car to the VW dealership, I was informed there was a recall on the water pump and it was replaced. Fast forward to 2017; the water pump that was replaced in 2015 starting leaking (having found this out after taking the GTI back to VW). I informed the service department that water pump was replaced due to a recall. They preceded to locate when the water pump had been replaced. The service department contact Volkswagen checking to see they would pay for repairs since the water pump was replaced due to the recall...Volkswagen would only pay half of the bill. I contacted Volkswagen, stating that evidently the water pumps are faulty if only after 14 months after installation the water pump requires replacement again. The representative that was helping me, advised she contacted someone at Volkswagen and that is all they would do. I told her again... after only 14 months and the water pump is being replaced again, that tells me that Volkswagen water pumps are faulty!

They will rake you for every little ding, scratch, burn, tires, normal wear and tear, anything they can get from you. I will never lease from them again! I am starting a website for other people Ive had contact with to share similar stories. So when the site is complete, I will make sure everyone knows how they do business.Ive never had to pay for tires (they were exactly where they should have been when turning it in). You can turn in a Honda, Toyota, Lexus, etc. with bald tires and they wont bother you! It’s normal wear and tear after 36 months. Ive only ever had to pay for over mileage! VW Credit is ridiculous and I, nor my friends, family, neighbors or co-workers will ever do business with them again!

My 2012 VW Tiguan (30,000 miles) has to have the engine replaced. I take it to Bethesda Oarsman dealer. Thankfully I had the extended warranty but they had my car for over 2 months. When I got it back this new engine was making clunking noise every time I turned right. Took it back and they said they fixed it but still had the noise with a new noise happening every time I started to accelerate. Took back it again. Then my sunroof starting leaking and mats were soaked. Took it in again and they said they fixed it.3 weeks later after I was away for 2 weeks and not using the car I got in and the entire car was damp with Mildew everywhere. Took it in again and they had it for 2.5 months and told me it was fixed so I came and picked it up. Drove it that night but the car still stank of mildew and it rained and water was dripping from all the windows. Defroster just made it worse and was dangerous driving. Took it back in again the next day and told them they didn’t fix anything. Left it there for another 2 weeks. Got a call telling me it was ready again so went to pick it up and car still stinks like mildew and mold is still on seatbelts. Left it there and this is where I am now. NEVER BUY A VW!!

My vehicle broke down in Florida on a vacation there. I was given roadside assistance as part of their goodwill to the owners that were lied to about the diesel vehicles. The actual dealership that caused the problem covered the cost of the repair but I was told I would be able to go thru roadside assistance trip interruption to get back cost of hotel, gas, food etc. that was incurred because of this. Now after submitting all my receipts that I was told to do I am now denied that because its not a repair that is covered under the new vehicle warranty - that it was the fault of a dealership so they are saying Im out of luck. Ive owned 2 Volkswagens and if they dont make good on this, this one will be my last. None of this was my fault - its the fault of Volkswagen. I did the right thing. I got a tune up and got screwed once again by Volkswagen.

Bought a 2013 2.5 SE as a left over in 2014. Since then I have had the window master switch replaced, the front passenger window switch, the Bluetooth module, shifter and ignition replaced all due to failures and malfunctions. The one item was the AC where during summer temps the vent temperature fluctuated from 40 to 70 degrees, the AC would shut off humid air blow out for 10 minutes and then it would kick back on. I have brought my vehicle in many times for this issue at every 10k factory service and many times in between. The incompetent techs look for malfunction codes, check the charge level and run the car in the SHOP and say, Oh its cold...At the 40k mark outside of the B2B warranty they found the issue and told me a simple exact and recharge would fix it. Now if the charge level was fine at every AC service why would it be found now? That wasnt the case, the issue still remains. I got VWOA involved. They said nothing can be done other than having them look at it again (likely same results) where I may be liable for loaner expenses. I am never buying a VW for myself or recommending a VW to anyone again.

Has anybody else had problems with VW Inchcape dealers in Chester, Cheshire
Has anybody else had problems with VW Inchcape dealers in Chester, Cheshire dealership? I purchased a brand new diesel Volkswagen Golf TDI just under 3 years ago (and have full service history). The cars mileage was 72,000 - reasonable for a diesel engine so the car was out of its warranty, which I am not questioning. However, the crankshaft snapped whilst the car was less than three years old, resulting in major engine failure. It took a repair bill of over £2000 for this to be fixed. The garage that it was taken to had never experienced this problem before and an independent report states it was due to metal fatigue and not misuse or wear and tear.To be fair, Volkswagen had reduced the cost of the replacement crankshaft, however Inchcape have refused to refund the high repair bill. In my opinion they are responsible for the purchase of the faulty crankshaft and hence should take responsibility for this. I am very disappointed that a reliable brand has let me down in this way. I have loved my VW Golf but have lost confidence in it. I invested in a reliable name and feel disappointed in the quality of the engine that I have been supplied with. Any comments or similar experiences would be appreciated. Thank you.

At the end of the Lease, the inspector charged me for damages that do not exist. I called VW, I talked to a supervisor. I explained to her that the inspector (who was rude) charged me for a previous repair without any visible damage, charged me for a dent in the door (there was no dent) and charged me for a dent BELOW the car (need to lay in the floor to see it). She said the only way they will take off those charges was with an invoice from a body shop that states that were repaired. I requested her to do another inspection and she said no, they dont do more inspections, so because I insisted her then at the end she accepted to credit me $200 on the final bill. I went to a body shop, I explained to him what was going on and he was in shock. He told me there was nothing he could do because there was nothing to repair, I should hire an attorney. The day of the car return I explained to the person that received the car all this. He start looking at the car and he didnt understand why I was being charged. I got the final bill a month later and I have been charged in full without any credit.

The intake manifold has failed on my boyfriends 2010 CC sport. This part has an extended 10 year/120,000 mi warranty on it. His vehicle is just outside of that warranty in mileage (121,500) and they wont do anything to ease the cost of replacing part. The whole reason they extended the warranty was because they expected the part to fail within 10 years, and its definitely less than 10 years old. Because other car manufacturers would take this into consideration and do some type of prorate of split the difference in parts & labor or something of the like, we called and asked them to do this. And they just dont care. No reason to build brand loyalty, I guess. Every time weve had to deal with them, it has been a head ache - the Takata airbag recall for instance. My mom has a Honda. Honda gave her a rental until they could fix the problem because it is unsafe to drive at the risk of having a collision and being pumped full of shrapnel from your airbags. She got her car back, fixed, 2 weeks ago, though she was in a rental for about a month. When we called VW about it then best response that we could get was why its safe to continue driving it around. Or how the NHTSA doesnt find it unsafe. The funny thing is, I research EVERYTHING. And according to everything I found, the NHTSA is who demanded the recall. VW responded with a letter as to why they should be exempt from it. The recall was issued in 2014, and VW just started recalling in February 2016. Shame on this company for caring so little about its drivers & for being so reckless with consumers lives in general. VERY disappointing. If you want reliability, you may want to go with a less expensive vehicle as they seem to have a better attitude and overall view of customer service.

Our 2014 leased Volkswagen Jetta broke down in NH in March 2016. We live in Rhode Island. The car was suddenly billowing black smoke and all dash lights were on. We pulled off to the side of the highway, pulled out the auto roadside brochure and called the number on the cover. Their customer service rep took all our information. He took our phone # and said he would make the arrangements for the car to be towed and find a rental car agency that was open as it was Sat night and approaching 9 pm. I received a TEXT from him with the name of the tow company that would pick the car up and that had called the only car rental agency open in the area (Manchester Airport 91.7 miles from our home). He told them we would be there shortly as they were about to close. He provided us with a discount call that they honored. Our car was towed to the nearest Volkswagen dealership Autofair Manchester NH 87.8 miles from our home. The car was repaired the following Monday afternoon. We picked it up early Tues morning and returned the rental to the Manchester Airport. Per the instructions in brochure we submitted the charges for the tow 79.00 and 221.00 for the rental. We then received 2 denials of reimbursement. The tow was denied because they said we used a tow service that was not authorized. WE did not choose the tow service, the rep at the Volkswagen Roadside Service did. The text he sent me clearly stated that. They denied the rental car charge saying their parameters are 100 miles. We appealed the denials with Customer Service and they too denied both claims. Needless to say it never crossed our minds to ask the rep of Volkswagen Road Service to use an authorized Volkswagen tow service. We asked how they calculated the distance to our home from NH, they didnt know. We are both in our 70s and had a lease to ensure that we had dependable car backed by reliable customer service in the event of auto malfunction. Obviously this was an assumption on our part. The last agent we spoke with (Martin) at Volkswagen said he was sorry but thats the way it is. The experience of sitting along a busy highway for 2 hours was not pleasant one, but nothing compared to the deceitful business method of Volkswagen. Though we are well aware that Volkswagen could not care, but we will no longer give them our business nor will recommend them to anyone we come in contact with.

A master mechanic suggested that we could fill the tank the rest of the way with diesel and have no problem. Trying to make a decision, I asked the Roadside representative what they would do at the dealership. He explained that they would lift it up, drain the tank and flush out the fuel lines, and said that Roadside would pay for the service. I said Roadside will cover it? and he confirmed. Based on the fact that Roadside said they would cover the cost of the service, I chose to go ahead with the tow rather than dealing with the situation on my own.On Saturday, April 16 I called Harmony Motors, our local dealership in Asheville, NC to check the status of my car. I was directed to the voicemail of someone who would be out of town for a week. His message warned that no voicemails would be received until his return. I called Harmony Motors again on Monday, April 18. They were surprised to hear from me and said they had no record of my car being there and could not recall seeing it come in. The mechanic said he would search the lot and get back to me. After two hours of panicking that my car was stolen and several calls to the dealership, Roadside and tow service, I finally heard back that they had found my car. Roadside Assistance gave the dealership NO information about my vehicle. The tow service they hired left my keys in the car without notifying anyone in the service department. My car sat in the lot for three nights and two whole days before anyone knew it was there. Now its Tuesday, April 19. The mechanic finally called me back to tell me what service needs to be done, and that it will cost over $500. I told him Roadside said they would pay for it. He followed up with Roadside, then called me back to inform me that Roadside is not going to pay. So, obviously I followed up with Roadside. I explained the situation to the representative and she said the manager would listen to the recording of the call and get back to me. I was hopeful because the representative was very clear. The manager was Felicia ** from the St. Petersburg, FL office. She said she listened to the call and that Roadside Assistance does not cover repairs and that I misunderstood the representative. I urged her to have someone listen to the conversation for another opinion. I explained that I am confident it was not a misunderstanding, and that perhaps the representative was misinformed about the companys policy. Even so, they should adhere to any promises made by their company reps. She said that it states clearly in the manual that Roadside does not cover the cost of repairs and that this written policy overrides anything that is said in person. She would not let me speak to her supervisor and would not give me her full name (I retrieved that later from VW Customer Care). She was rude, impolite, insensitive, and crass.I then followed up with VW Customer Care. I waited on the line for 40 minutes before my call was answered. I filed a complaint about my experience and the representative I spoke with here was very nice and understanding. I received a follow-up phone call from the VW Roadside Customer Care manager who further confirmed that Roadside will not pay for the service even if the representative claimed that they would. The written policy overrides anything else. I explained that this is an unethical way to operate a business and its not how I operate my own. If a representative makes a claim to a customer, the company should honor that promise and then take it up with the representative.I have gone four days without my car, hours of stress and time away from work, and am now facing a $500 bill that I could have avoided if I had the correct information from VW. It is clear that this company is well rooted in dishonesty, misinformation, extremely poor customer relations and no understanding of ethics. I hope this story shares more on the truth of how VW operates and that their words cannot be trusted. So what have we learned from this? If you want an accurate representation of Volkswagens services, I guess you need to consult written documents. Unless you happen to be inquiring about clean diesel. Then, unfortunately, youre ** out of luck.

The first day I drove my new 2019 Tiguan SEL home, I opened the passenger driver-side door and the handle got stuck and would not go back in...Made an appointment for 2-days later to get this fixed. During the 2-day waiting period, I was stopped in a turning lane on a four-lane, lighted road to make a u-turn. When I hit the gas pedal to go the car jerked forward, and went to a standstill for about 5-seconds while my foot was firmly pressing the gas pedal. This caused the two oncoming vehicles to have to screech to a stop; and the vehicle in the middle lane had to swerve to avoid hitting me and spin out. When the Tiguan started moving forward, I had to pull over because I was shaking. The same issue happened again the next day, but no oncoming cars were in sight.Went in for the door appointment, I told the service rep about engine and asked to speak to a manager. An assistant manager came out, I told him about the engine, and he respond thats a VW and gave me a hug and two free t-shirts. New door handle had to be ordered due to corrosion, had to come back 3-days later to have it fixed. During those 3-days, the passenger seat seat belt warning sound started randomly going off, along with the airbag light flashing above the hazard light when my handbag was on the seat. Reported that and the engine issue again at next appointment. Had to leave the car for two days...At pick-up was told everything was tested fine, but VW did not bother to test the seat sensor. Was instructed to not put anything on the passenger seat, as stated in the cars manual.I was in tears telling VW of Naples dealership that I felt totally unsafe but they would not help me get another vehicle and told me to get back into this vehicle. So I contacted Volkswagen corporate to request a new vehicle, or to let me out of my lease...Denied. Both VW corporate and Naples, FL dealership did not care about my safety at all, nor that I was obviously an unhappy customer. Money should never come before safety, so I paid to get out of my lease. This is a deadly safety issue.

The issue has not been resolved after making three visits to the service dealer. We also contacted the VW Canada customer care but they were of no help and simply suggested that we visit the service dealer, though issue was to do with manufacturing. Our car is still with service dealer and they dont know what is the problem. Sent another email to VW Canada customer care rep but havent received a response yet. Really frustrating and disappointing experience buying VW.

I bought a VW Tiguan 2009 from Koons Tyson Chrysler Dodge with 58K miles. The problems never stopped ever since the purchase. First, its engine hood release broke, then is truck lock broke that, then brake, then AC, then car check engine light start to come on, and the car is shaking when idle and low speed. After changed all spark plugs and coils problem remained. I went through 3 shops to find out that the engine timing chain tensioner have to be replaced. It will cost me close to $4K to do it. The mechanic told me it’s a common problem for that model year because VW changed turbo but I don’t understand why they didn’t do a recall. What kind of a car has common major engine issue at barely 60K and company continue to ignoring it. I bought the VW thinking good German engineering, well it turns out to be the exact opposite. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!! Never VW again...

On July 16th, 2015 I purchased a motor vehicle from David Maus VW South in Orlando, a Volkswagen Tiguan 2015 and unfortunately, the vehicle has been unsatisfactory, due to the fact it was supposed to be new and without problems. I have had several problems with the vehicle, as well as finding out that the vehicle purchased was not new. The vehicle has had damage and has been repaired. The Driver front door was painted and I was uninformed of this. A new vehicle should not have any prior repairs. I already spoke with the dealership and VW itself and they said the paint is not enough reason to the change the car for a new one. When purchased, the vehicles came with a problem, but with this Tiguan I have several problems. The fuel gauge displayed when I purchase the car was broke (when the tank was full that it was full). I went twice (September 15 and September 22) and I lost both days in your dealership. Two weeks ago I left the car lights on for a few hours; upon attempting to start the vehicle the battery was dead. I cannot believe that a new battery of a new car would die after being left on for such a short amount of time and that there is no automatic system that turns off the lights after several hours.I purchased a new vehicle, and I expected to not have car problems for several years. However this car has been the worst car I have ever had as if I had purchased a used car with several issues. In addition this car has minimum space in back seat and for cargo. I am really unhappy with the car especially because I feel the car was repair previous my ownership. I price for this car was really high I did not receive a product according with price.

Bought a 2017 Passat SE with tech and after 9 months began to have safety sensor problems, blind spot, forward collision and parking. Took to the dealer several times to be told it was non existent or normal. Got VWoA INVOLVED AND THEY WERE HARDLY ANY HELP. Finally after I was given a loaner with the airbag hanging from the steering wheel I was offered a trade in assistance. Traded into a 2018 Tiguan SE and have had nothing but issues since day 1, car net never worked, blind spot was faulty, transmission issues, engine power failure. Now my new car had been taken apart and been out of service 32 days in total and only has 8k miles on it, not to mention damaged from the dealer. VWoA denied my claim for buyback and now I am having to deal with lawyers to get it resolved. They really need to get their crap together and vet their dealerships employees and their representatives. Being told error codes are normal, cylinder 3 misfires are caused by bad gas, transmission hesitation/engine power loss isnt a major concern and blind spot detection, which is a safety feature, malfunctioning is no concern that it should not be relied on is unacceptable, not to mention when they hooked a scan tool to my car it shows my car has 2k more miles on it than my odometer states. Will never purchase another VW. BUYER BEWARE.

Ive had my 2013 Tiguan for 3 years now (3 months out of warranty). I love the way it looks and drives. However, even though Ive kept up with VWs recommended service, I just paid $2500 for repairs that shouldnt be happening on a car with 45k miles (a new alternator, timing case cover gaskets, control arms replaced, carbon cleaning). Just two months ago, the fuel door wouldnt open. The dealer sanded it down, calling it a manufacturing flaw (which I still dont get since it worked for a bit over 3 years). What Im getting at is that this VW is needing way too many costly repairs for a 3 year old car. I was expecting to have this car for well over 100k miles in great condition but Im not sure its going to work out that way. They sold me on the idea of German engineering being so good, lol. My Advice to all the folks who are even planning to buy a Volkswagen vehicl
My Advice to all the folks who are even planning to buy a Volkswagen vehicle, Dont even think about it. Unless you have lots of money and use and throw car. Its a shame on you Volkswagen!! All the car manufacturers (Its shame for me to say your competitors) are building cars that last for 200K miles and your car is falling apart after 90K miles. I had this car which likes to go back to the workshop every 2 weeks once its marked 90K miles. Its shame on your assembly employees, quality control engineers. Are they sleeping? Or you are not paying them well? Please take all the money that you make from the repairs caused by these breaking parts and give them as bonus. Motivate them to at least build something so that at least you can call yourself as car company. I was always recommending friends about this company... Now I realized big mistake. Sorry VW. Not any more. I changed my advice. None of my friends/colleagues are no more going to buy VW if they get my feedback. To all the folks who are planning to buy - I would suggest instead of buying a vw, just drop $100 into the toilet daily and flush it. That will at least save time from going back and forth between the repairs.

We purchased a brand new 2018 Tiguan and have had an horrible experience. The family almost died in a car accident because of the EPC faulty code. It happened 3 times and Volkswagen could not fix the issue. All of a sudden your car loses power and can’t go over 30mph, it shakes horribly and continues to lose power. The last time it happened (3rd time) we were merging onto a highway, the car shook and then lost power, with your foot to the floor the car will not go over 30mph. An 18wheeler truck almost slammed into the back of us, we had to swerve off the highway. Took it back to Volkswagen and they stated it was a faulty read and NOTHING Else was done! We are so shaken and have no trust in the car.I went directly to head office of Volkswagen and after 6 weeks of discussion they offered me a 10% discount off a new car! Are you kidding me??? 10% when it almost killed my family. I bought a new car so I would have no issue, but instead have had deadly issues. Looking online I see I am not alone. I guess Volkswagen does Nothing to keep their customers safe unless you die and then a class action lawsuit happens. Guess I should head up a class action lawsuit. DO NOT BUY THIS CAR. You will regret it. Stay away from a company who knows there are deadly issues yet does nothing about it!

I bought brand new Volkswagen 2010 from dealership in Kansas City. It was serviced regularly by the VW dealers. One evening, I came back from the work, parked the car in my driveway and next morning, the car would not start. I towed the car to the service center at the dealership and they say it needs a new motor. A 74K mile Volkswagen needs a new motor. I asked the reason and the service manager says oil level was low in the car and the car if out of the warranty now. This car was service by VW dealer in Lees Summit before 3 months of the breakdown, its Check Engine indicator never got turned on, the car does not consume oil and all of a sudden the engine failed. The service center says they serviced the car properly, dealership says its out of manufacturers warranty and I am stuck with this expense of $11000. The car does not have a single dent on its body, its trim, interior is all like a new car but the engine is bad. After spending enormous time talking to the dealership, service center, VW area manager, district manager and all, we concluded that this is the last Volkswagen in my life. And me and my entire family has become a great anti-Volkswagen advocate. Absolutely shameless managers, irresponsible service center and liar manufacturer. We advise all the readers to avoid buying any product of Volkswagen. Buy it if you want to throw away your hard earned money in drain.

So here is the deal. My husband and I, we purchased 2013 VW Tiguan. During the first year I had to bring the car to the dealer 4 times, due to an engine problems. First time, the engine light went on (at that point the car was about 4 months old!! ), we brought it to the dealer and after they checked it, they told us that it is just a glitch in electronics...Two months later, the light comes again, we bring it to the dealer and hear the same story...yet this time they told us that they switched something off (!!!!), so that the false engine light alert wont come on again! Couple of months go by (just FYI - I commute on highways every day to and from work), and when Im in the middle of my way home, the engine light goes on again... 20 minutes later, after the light had came on, the car just stalls/the engine shuts off!! Luckily the traffic was heavy and I was going about 10-15 miles/hour...I had to come to a complete stop in the middle of the highway and restart the car. I cant even imagine what wouldve happened if I was going the full speed...We brought the car to the dealer, and were informed a day later, that there is a sensor problem, and that they will be replacing it. When we took back the car we asked the dealer multiple times whether this problem will be happening again - they assured us that it will not!Yet, a couple of days ago (the car is one year and 2 months old at this point) I start my regular commute from work to home, and...here we go, the engine light comes back on!!! And, as in the old scenario 20 minutes later (luckily I was still downtown - so the speed was about 5 miles/hour. I was giving a way for another car to go on the stop sign) the car engine just suddenly shuts off! I then decided to go to the dealer right away, and on my way to the dealer the car stalled (engine shut down) for the second time!!! LUCKILY AGAIN I was going on low speed due bad weather condition (first snow) and bad traffic!!! It just terrifies me to think about what wouldve happened if I was going 55-60 miles?? This time the dealer told us that there is a wiring problem (the wires that lead to the sensor are all messed up). I understand that they would fix this, but I am now extremely skeptical about the quality of this vehicle. I cant trust to use it anymore...I am now wondering if I should give up the idea of being a VW owner at all...Given that there was a recent recall on Tiguan models (some manufacturers mistake with the engine programming - which we supposedly took care of!! ), I was wondering if some of you have faced the same problem with the engine suddenly shutting off (Remember the GM manufacturers mistake and engines shutting off, when people died due to this?). If so, I urge everyone who experienced this to please respond, we need to take action - as it might be some manufacturer mistake, which might have terrible consequences in the future!!

Great experience! Volkswagen is my first car and favorite car. Its small and the perfect size for me. Parking is so easy. Love driving it, its a convertible as well, 2016 model red in color which is my favorite color. Interior is comfortable and I love German cars in general, they drive very well. Ive been wanting it since I was 16 and Im 24 now. I love how everything works with a push of a button like the trunk, gas. The lights on the inside made it look slick. The convertible, the stiffness of the wheel, driving it. Its fun to drive and I feel confidently driving it. But I dont like the middle of the backseat as its too hard. Also the switch to turn on the headlights that sometimes I forget and then the battery dies.

I called to set up a payment on a Monday for the following Friday. The CSR even repeated the dates to me. I called back on that Friday and explained what they had done and asked the CSR again if she was sure that they werent going to try to take the first payment out again before I set up a new one. She assured me that they would not so I went ahead and set up the payment again. Again, she was clueless because they did indeed try to now take out 2 payments! This caused another overdraft fee and a stop payment for the second payment. I called again and they stated that they needed a copy of my bank statement proving the $88.00 in fees so I faxed them the statement and called back 3 days later. The payment had not been processed and the CSR had to place me on hold for 10 minutes to go find the fax! He assured me that a check would go out to me that day. Well, that was 5 days ago so I called back today and another CSR manager apologized and stated that somehow it didnt get send to the correct department for approval so she would take care of it today. I took my VW Polo Vivo sedan 2016 model in for a 90000ks service the 1st week in July. I told the technician that there is a cluck cluck noise coming from the drivers side. Can he please check it. When I got the car back he said the battery needed to be replaced and but I could still drive the car. A week later the car wouldnt start, so took it back to the dealer that did the service and had them replace the battery. I still told him there is this cluck cluck noise. They replaced the battery and he said that he heard the noise but I can still drive the car. They picked up that an irregularity on an injector but I can still drive the car. Only when the EPC light comes on then I must bring the car in. The same day I replaced the battery while on my way home the car wouldnt go faster than 40ks and this cluck cluck noise got louder and louder, eventually the car wouldnt go anymore and I had to get towed home. The next day I called a VW near my house and they said that they cant help me. They fully booked. They can only help me the Friday the 12Th. So I had the car towed in, the security guard at the gate closed the gate in the tow truck and let us drive around aimlessly trying to find the service department. Booked my car in and they took me home. I called in at 3pm that day to ask if they had found something and the guy said to me there is a waiting period of 24 to 48 hours for the technician to look at my car. So I called on every time to this dealer to find out what was wrong with my car. By Tuesday the 16th they still didnt know what was wrong with my car. Wednesday the 17th they said to me the spark plug melted, they couldnt explain how that happened. So they needed me to pay a R6500 stripping fee so they could strip the engine. Thursday they came back and said that the gasket between cylinder 1 and 2 is burnt, they would get back to me with a quote. Thursday even they came back to me with a quote of R45000 that the engine needs to be overhauled. Im still asking how can a car go in for service and a week later the car isnt working and now the engine needs to be overhauled. I logged a complaint with VW SA and they also of no help. Both dealerships are not willing to help me. So now its almost 3 weeks and I dont have a car, and no one is willing to help me. This whole experience has left a sour taste in my mouth and I will never buy another VW in my life. I will also tell people not to buy VWs and what service they in for.

As we were traveling down the road one day, our Volkswagen TDI started to make this awful noise and started to sound like it was going to cut out on us. We were about 16 miles out of town and turned back and went home. We had to drive slow, as the car kept making this awful sound and acted like it was going to quit running. When we got home, my husband pulled it into the garage and started to look things over. He took the panel that was on the underside of the car off and found all kinds of metal shavings and oil. It looked horrible. We called Broadway and explained what happened and then had the car towed to their garage (35 miles one way). After they looked at it, it was discovered that there was a 2-piece flywheel that flew apart. What is a 2-piece flywheel doing in a diesel car? It is my understanding that because of the torque that is produced by a diesel engine, it should have been a 1-piece flywheel. As the result of the flywheel coming apart, the pieces of metal shot through and into the transmission wall and wrecked the transmission. Broadway contacted Volkswagen and explained what happened. They agreed to replace the flywheel, but would not cover any of the transmission because the car was out of warranty. We had 85,000 miles on the car and warranty was up at 60,000 miles. There were 2 other cars that were brought into this dealer for the same issue and Volkswagen wouldnt touch one of them because that car had 112,000 miles on it. The other vehicle had the extended warranty so therefore that car was fixed. This was a problem in another country (I cant remember which one it was) and Volkswagen recalled these cars. The car did get fixed with a 1-piece flywheel and $5,400. This cost did not include the cost of the flywheel, which would have been an additional $750 had Volkswagen not covered that cost.I will not own another Volkswagen vehicle (this vehicle was our second TDI). Had Volkswagen paid for at least, if not all, of the cost of the transmission replacement, it would have made them a better looking company. What they did was wrong and the consumer paid for it.

I just received a huge turn-in bill from VW. This was the fourth (and last!) VW I have leased. I asked them to reverse the $350 return fee (pure robbery) and they would only reverse it if I leased a fifth one. The Tiguan was poorly made. The ceiling lining was slightly loose on one side because of a leaky sunroof. The dealer said to take a picture and fight the charge. I called VW Credit and the person refused to reverse the charge and said I should have taken it to the dealership. I was charged $258 for that. I told her that I had leased 4 Volkswagens and that didnt make one iota of difference to her. For what is a tiny degree of money to VW, they have lost a customer. All that piece of work had to say was Im sorry. Can we expect full payment at the end of the month?? I will NEVER get another VW. I just bought a Mazda SUV and am very happy.

I have each case documented. Now that the transmission has failed completely (does not go into gear or shift), the dealer and Volkswagen have denied my warranty due to the fact that I have some aftermarket parts on my car and that these parts caused the failure. I have been an on/off VW owner for almost 15 years. I recently became one again just a few months ago and now I know why I was on/off, rather than always on! After this current experience, I cannot recommend Volkswagen products any longer and no matter what changes they make, I will never return. My recent vehicle was purchased brand new and the quality of workmanship on it is so poor that I would not let my worst enemy get one. Mine came with a defective dashboard straight out of the factory! The dash had a golf ball sized imperfection and a few hollow spots near the passenger airbag. The front window trims also had gashes in them and were also colored differently. One of my interior lights has a bug and some floating debris inside of the housing. There is a s black paint mark on one side of my trunk door (my vehicle is red). I dont care how much the vehicle retails for, this workmanship is pure junk and 100% unacceptable. This vehicle and all of VW is a total embarrassment to the entire car world. VW has made serious roadblocks to processing my claim for the VW buyback. I started the process in October 2016 and have sent documents to them at least eleven times now and they are requesting again. I feel this is deliberate stalling on the part of VW to process my claim.

I would rate my experience minus stars if you had such a thing. From the day I bought the car I was no longer important to the Tracy Volkswagen Dealership. They didnt have enough time to go over all the details of this new car and said we could have more time on the coming Sat. They never called. When I called them with problems of charging it, they told me they were on vacation, but if you come in I can give you a little time. When I asked about problems with Barnstable free chargers around Hyannis they didnt know why I couldnt charge on them. Said they would check it out. They never did. After a month of trying to figure it out myself I gave up and took it back. They wanted me to go the lemon law route. I told them I thought it was damaged and that they knew about it. That would be fraud to do the lemon law. I ended up paying them a total of over $5,000.00 to get out of the lease. The Corporate VW was no better. They had nothing to say to me, even though they had me fill out a survey for their company. I sent them letters, all the information and copies of everything and nothing. Im warning you, do not buy from Tracy Volkswagen in Hyannis Ma.

Buyer beware! My Tiguans timing chain skipped and bent the valves. $7000 to repair... At 60,000 miles, I still owe $9600. It is in pieces in my garage. A mechanic friend of mine is working on it part-time. At every turn, I have to buy a special tool to remove a special bolt or special part. $71 for a crankshaft pulley tool.

Volkswagen shouldnt be sold in the US. The customer service is awful and the warranty means nothing. I traveled to Michigan for a quick vacation. The car broke down hours away from my destination. Get a towing truck through road assistance was almost impossible. My car was sent to a dealership 2 hours away from where I was staying. 12 hours later I received a call to let me know they got my car and they were going to inspect it in 1 week, I was staying there for only 2 days. After spending 7 hours on the phone, I decided to take a taxi to get a rental car (the closest rental was 1 hour and a half away). Volkswagen couldnt provide me a loaner/rental. I had to paid for everything. Everybody I talked to over the phone told me to contact the trip interruption department. After spending 200 dollars in a taxi, I get a call that the car was ready. According to them, the car was not fixed correctly at the dealership in Chicago (Volkswagen Irving Park Chicago). Took another taxi the other way, another $200. Once I got there, the Muskegon Volkswagen rep told me the following: We reconnected a hose that they forgot to connect when they replace the crankshaft sensor in Chicago... Please note the car has only 25K miles and broke a few weeks before this. They charged me because a different Volkswagen made a mistake but trip interruption was going to take care of this. Long story short, I made it back to Chicago, mailed all the receipts as they told me to do and today I got a call to let me know the case was declined. This is not money related, I dont care about the money but I can tell that Volkswagen customer service is awful... In Muskegon, in Chicago... Everywhere... even the customer CARE. I dont understand how they do business with this poor customer care. Definitely, not buying a Volkswagen again. On top of that I bought the extended warranty!!! STAY AWAY FROM VW CHICAGO IRVING PARK... STAY AWAY FROM VW MUSKEGON... STAY AWAY FROM VOLKSWAGEN...

On this site, I found another 2014 Jetta consumer had same issue w/ less mileage. DPATRICK VW ** is unsure if VW will cover repairs ($1700) nor cover a rental. It is a NEW 2014 JETTA. Purchased a used 2010 Volkswagen cc about a year ago with 70,000 miles. Clean carfax, no accidents. I did have the understanding Volkswagens are expensive to have worked on, but also thought they are supposed to be well built and reliable. The car has been a nightmare from day 1. Just the last 2 months alone the has been in and out of the dealership 5 times. The intake manifold, all the fuel injectors, the fuel pump, fuel pump control module, carbon build up... on and on and just as horrible as the car is the dealership. Ship is just as bad (maybe worse). Volkswagen doesnt stand by their product. They know about all the problems people have with them and they dont care.Just with the fuel system alone I truly dont believe all those parts I mentioned above failed. I think the techs just kept throwing parts at it until it ran at my expense of course. I could keep going and going... Long story short do yourself a favor and buy another brand. I hope the emissions scandal puts them out of business. Every time I drive the car I now wonder am I going to arrive at my destination? Totally disgusted!!!

I lease the Rabbit, because the salesman stated I could buy the car after 48 months with purchase option around $8,500.00. The value was written on the contract. In the last month of my lease, I called VW to confirm the payoff - $8,500.00. So, Im going to refinance the car for purchase or trade the car. I found a Nissan. He agreed to give me $10,000.00 on trade. Its a fair deal; the VW was listed for $12-14 thousand. The Nissan dealer signed a power of attorney to procure the lease title of the VW. VW told him his payoff was $11,930.00. Now, Ive driven the Nissan off the lot. I called VW again, asking what difference it does make if the payoff check comes from me or a car dealer. They said, Dont send a check with the dealerships name on it. To make a long story short, though I could have paid off the VW myself, Nissan didnt want to wait for the title. I lost about $1,500.00 through re-negotiations plus emotional trauma. The payoff should be the payoff. Monopolizing and false advertising are illegal. Nowhere on the lease contract did it state the payoff would be different if you were trading in the car at Nissan. I found a form faxed to Nissan from Bill **. VW apparently could purchase the car for $8,500.00. If you want to trade, buy your car first. The leasing company pays all sales tax on the total price of the vehicle when you sign the lease. So if you purchase the leased car, maybe you pay tax on the $8500.00 figure. Nevertheless, look up the Illinois law definition of false advertisement. The omission or concealment of material facts on which a person relies upon when purchasing a product is hereby illegal (paraphrase). There is no way I could have known this was going to happen to me. It was not stated on the lease agreement.VW lied; they told me that at the end of the lease, I could trade the car at any dealership--Dodge, Toyota, etc.--and that VW of America would honor the purchase option price. What a crock. But how do we know when its not written in the least contract. The payoff should be the payoff. You buy a house, the payoff is the payoff. You refinance, the payoff is the payoff. I called for my payoff before I went looking for another vehicle. What VW is doing needs to be outlawed under truth in lending laws.

Again I am writing to you, this time to share my frustration with the Volkswagen product purchased and the response received when my situation was reported. Back in August 2017, I wrote you outlining my situation; being more specific, while going to work at approximately 7:40 am in “stop and go” traffic my car shut off placing it in a no start condition, had to towed it to my mechanic and I was told I had to replace the fuel pump and the fuel pump module. A representative from your office contacted me from the number ** during the third week of September, informing that my request could not be honored because the warranty on my car expired. Approximately three weeks later I receive a recall notice from Volkswagen informing there is a faulty fuel pump control module in my car.I am of the opinion that Volkswagen was aware of the existence of the defect and that I was place in a situation where there was an increase likelihood of the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. This is by far a bad representation of the Volkswagen product and I feel hurt I was placed in this situation; this is bad customer service! This is a clear case of trickery and or dishonest act for financial gain. As a senior citizen, I am very deliberate about where and when I spend my money. I intensely researched this product to great extent before purchasing it but to my surprise I was taken advantage off and I am outraged because I was deceived by your company’s practices.

It could take a month or 5 months. You cannot even listen to the radio because the noise is so loud. I have taken with customer care service and they are useless. They refuse to replace the seat from another VW Atlas that is on the lot. I am sure they can do a temp repair of putting foam in the seat frame but they wont even do that. I would strongly recommend not buying a VW product due to their very poor customer service and the futility of getting repair parts.

We have an EOS 2.0L VW that has under $60,000 miles on it. The car suddenly stopped running at a traffic light in Dec 2014 and has been in and out of the dealer for repairs every two months. We have spent almost $2000 on a massive failure of both fuel pumps (how do they both break?). We have replaced multiple fuel injectors. This car is barely broken in. It is a $35K car and the entire fuel injection system has failed. There were some warranties that reduced the price of repairs, but less than 60,000 miles, are you kidding? VW PR gave us a two week song and dance (** so sweet and has your back) and ** the decision maker who wont even provide his full name for some accountability. They stroked us really well telling us that they were covering every base and they understood how unjustified these types of repairs are at this early age of a car. Two weeks later... after we supposedly cooled down from spending a couple of grand on the inside of the engine repair they told us they would not take the car back. They would not offer any financial assistance. We were left with nothing. At least I can warn others. Do not believe that VW can produce a fuel injection car. Their design is faulty and their parts break easily and one problem creates others. The EOS looks great, but that is only skin deep.

Cant believe the nerve of Volkswagen’s warranty and a slap on the hand. Dealership guys were very respectful and friendly but doing very bad illegal things again. Took my 2011 TDI Jetta under warranty to the dealership for LONG START and ACCELERATION LAG, (fuel issues). Day 2 of having my vehicle, Jason via text message asked for approval to do a fuel filter and air filter change for 185+tax. I asked wasnt FUEL FILTER covered under my warranty. Via text message, was told NO. Called corporate and was set up with an advisor (Kyle) who did not return my call before I was told to come get my car on day 3. Went to the dealership and spoke to a supervisor named Matt **. Asked him to explain what part about ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM doesnt apply to the fuel filter. His explanation to me, maybe it was worded wrong. I am a certified MASTER tech and I bought this car for the warranty VW was offering. Couldnt believe it. Shouldnt have believed it. I have attached a copy of a page from my warranty booklet which leads us consumers buying these vehicles to believe Volkswagen has our back, not that we are buying and inheriting someone elses problem. I bought the vehicle about 4,000 miles ago and was told it needed done and asked for money for it. Since I did not get the job done, I was charged $143 this morning to get my vehicle back. I asked for a itemized list of what the tech did to diagnose my vehicle since I am paying $135+tax for diag. Was that honored? No, for 3 days my vehicle was with them and my warranty not covered. Advisors say whatever the dealership says because clearly in black and white for anyone to read ENTIRE not excluding filter, would lead you to believe it is covered, especially when the system is under high pressure and you have to prime the system so its really not a DIY for most consumers buying these vehicles. I didnt write the warranty and it should be honored. Not only that, my warranty also states conflicts concerning the warranty, are to be resolved in favor of the consumer. Volkswagen follow the law and honor your warranty and not play word games with the people you are trying to earn the trust back from. Im going to the top with my issue and litigation for selling me a vehicle under false advertising. Not only that, but I also have a warranty under the HPFP recall warranting me anything that touches gas. If I have to fight for my $143 back and my warranty honored, Im going to make sure the courts give their vehicle back to them.

I own a Volkswagen Touareg and during a rainstorm, water drained into the fuse box and destroyed the system circuit. VW is claiming it is not a recall therefore, they will not repair the damage. The service dept told me there had been another VW in their shop two months prior with the same problem and it cost that owner $7,000. My cost is $15,000+. Why is it auto manufacturers do not have to stand by their products? If I sold a product that was defective, I would have to fix it or replace it. Spent a lot of money at the Parkville VW Dealer on a AC Compressor, timing belt case, and new serpentine belt. Labor rates went up because it was considered a large job, which I find ridiculous. After putting everything back together, they went for a test drive. Found the AC was still not working. Called me and stated both refrigerant lines had a leak on them and they would have to be replaced. Wanted an additional $1,500 for the labor and parts. Fortunately, I said no and denied it. Had them put the car back together and I would drive without A/C. Took the car to a mechanic with 20 yrs. After some research, he found that there were no leaks in either of the refrigerant lines. But, what he did find was that the VW Qualified Tech (@$145/hr labor rate) overcharged the A/C system by almost 250 grams. I went from almost paying $1,500 to paying $80. Drastic difference. Absolutely ridiculous. More like unqualified tech. Not only was I upset about them overcharging the system, but when I called VW and told them what they did, I asked to speak with a manager. Service guy told me he was not available and that he would return my call. Still to this day after numerous calls, I have not heard from him. I lodged a complaint directly with VW America via their website. Still have not heard from them either. Not hearing back from anyone and taking ownership on their poor service is actually make me more upset than anything out of this whole experience. This will be my last VW I will ever own because of this horrible experience with this car and lack of taking responsibility by VW. Buyer beware. Do not buy VW. Tons of other better, great vehicles to buy out there.

My car computer said the Convertible Top needed to be serviced. I hadnt used the top for about 6 months prior to the light coming on. I took it in to the local dealership and was told that one of the latches that hold the hard top on was not working well. They ordered the part and finally got them in 4 weeks later. They replaced the latches then called and told me that it still was not working and that there was a bent left hinge to the roof that was the problem. VW would only be able to fix this problem by replacing the entire roof for $9500. I created a case with VW USA and when they said that my car was 9000 miles out of the manufacturers warranty, but the car was still only 2.5 years old, and there was nothing they could do for me, I escalated an email to the CEO of VW USA. A department Assistant called me back, said they would send their field service manager for the region out to look at the car and get back to me. They would not give me any names of anyone that was looking at my car besides the dealership mechanics. They called back and would not help me with fixing the car. Essentially I was leasing a $20,000 car that had $10,000 of damage that I didnt cause and VW said, Oh well, cant help you. This was 4 months ago. Ive talked to several current and former VW mechanics and they all said that VW is the only shop that can fix the car. They did however share with me a tech-tip that shows a manufacturers issue with a grommet in the left side of the convertible top that can pop loose, causing the exact damage that Im experiencing with my convertible top. That was posted in April of 2013, and the dealership did not mention this or to my knowledge investigate it. I loved this car. Ive barely driven it over the last 8 months. Im so disappointed in VW for not only NOT rectifying such a strange mechanical problem, but expecting anyone to fix a car for the ridiculous amount of $10,000. The dealership was great and very helpful but I cant help but wonder if the hinge wasnt damaged by the dealership after the fact. The top still doesnt work and I have no resolution. BAD REPUTATION for VW. Every mechanic I spoke with said that VW are the toughest and most expensive cars to work on and they recommend to everyone not to be them. This is my first negative rating of anything, ever! I am so angry and truly disappointed that VW has chosen to not deal with this. Not that VW cares but I will never buy another VW and I will advise anyone I know to stay away from them as well.

I received codes P0087 & P2293 and traced them down to a known, high-pressure fuel pump/improperly hardened camshaft problem (VW Technical Bulletin **). As a result of the failures I now have catastrophic foreign object damage (metal shavings) throughout my oil system caused by lathing to the camshaft and irreparable damage to cylinder head due to unbalanced camshaft rotation (known problem excessive wear of intake camshaft lobe Ref: VW Technical Bulletin **).Prestige Imports of Pleasantville, NY opened the engine and immediately called to tell me I needed a new engine. All I had to do was show oil change receipts for the life of the car and Id receive a new engine free of charge. However, living in the real world and being a member of the US Marines, Ive lived all over the US and had my oil serviced by the lowest bidder (often times myself). I was not going to be able to prove my oil changes (they were current though). At this point I called VW USA to open the lines of communication. I was told by VW USA not to worry, they’d look into the problem and get a better answer to the extent of the damage. After they talk to the dealer they will call back and explain the extent of the damage.A few days later the dealership called to say the car is finished. Finished? Please define finished because the last word I received was that I needed a new engine. VW USA was supposed to call you (the dealer), get a better idea of the problem & call me back so I can choose a course of action. The dealer informed me they replaced the timing belt, timing belt tensioner, and water pump. Im responsible for those repairs for about 1100 dollars. The repairs they did under warranty were a camshaft, cam follower, and high-pressure fuel pump. Ignore for minute that they have to remove the timing belt anyway to replace the camshaft. There should have been almost zero labor involved in that repair.Heres the issue. 1. I involved VW USA early and clarify the exact extent of the damage. They did not. They failed to add clarity and in fact, made matters more confusing. 2. Repairing an engine with metal shaving in the oil is a waste of money at a minimum. To be blunt it is closer to unethical and fraudulent. 3. Repairing a timing belt on an interference engine with cylinder head damage is unethical and fraudulent. 4. Calling a customer to say you need a new engine and then reversing course and completing 1100 dollars after I advise I cannot provide oil records is unethical and fraudulent. 5. VW USA taking a month to try to untangle and investigate the problem only to finally state that they are not helping is fraudulent and unethical. This issue could have not been handled worse. 1100 dollars of repairs were administered to a vehicle that is damaged. VW knows the 2.0-liter engine is an interference engine and timing is critical. VW acknowledged camshaft issues in Technical Bulletin ** but somehow wants to blame cam collateral wear on oil changes. There are metal particles in the engine oil system from acknowledged cam problems, which act like sandpaper when they circulate. Finally, there was zero productive communication with VW USA. The only communication was nightly calls from customer service agents who know nothing of automobiles or engines stating theyre still working on it or so and so wasnt there because of the holidays etc. Horrible, horrible experience. Criminal, negligent, fraudulent and to boot, to a service member and veteran.

This process took way too long to solve. I had divorced and changed my name before the recall started. In filling out the many pages required by VW, a question was have you had a name change. Oh! I wish I hadnt said yes. I sent proof of name change with an ID. My drivers license. This set me back a month or more with getting my paperwork done. No one had enough common sense to know how to handle a name change. One CS said I needed a proof of a marriage certificate. What??? Marriage certificate, I said, I was divorced. People, I was on the phone for 2 hours and 15 minutes wanting to know how to resolve how to show another way to prove my name change. I sent a copy of the page in my divorce papers that proved my name change. This was not enough. I had to send my whole divorce decree. In my opinion Thats not their business but I sent it anyway thinking I would finally get my appt for the buyback. Two weeks later I was finally approved and then was sent a calendar to make appt. The first available day was another month wait. Ridiculous! Then I found out that the buyback check will be five business days after the appt before depositing. So I asked if a car would be provided for me the five to seven days that I would be without transportation. No! Was the answer. Who does this? I dont have a second car. This whole thing has been very stressful. I will never buy a VW again. Good riddance.

I leased a 2012 CC for 3 years and now Im financing because Im tired of having a car payment. I have 51K miles on the car and got a 48K mile warranty with the new financing. I have got all the scheduled maintenance done at the dealership, Palisadas VW in NY, and have never been told about a carbon build up. So a month or 2 ago, when I started the car when the engine was cold, I was getting a putting like feel and sound coming from the exhaust. I felt nervous driving the car but once the car was warm and on the highway, everything was good. I took the car to the dealership. I have the top of the line warranty so why not, and the guy said since the Check Engine Light isnt on, the warranty wont cover it but once it does come on to bring it in and hell get it cleaned. So last week the light came on. I brought the car to the dealership right away. Well what do you know, the warranty doesnt cover it. And to top it all off, they want to charge me $1100. Im beyond pissed. I called VW Corporate and now Im in a fight with them. After seeing that other people have had the same problem, its like they put keep that out of the warranty so they can bang you over the head when you need it done. I tried to tell the woman from Corporate that they can easily call this little dealership and tell them what to do and they will listen quickly. Every dealership will do whatever to keep corporate from calling. I forgot to mention that this is my second car with VW. I Leased a Jetta for 3 years, and paid off the while lease within 6 months, and now leased my CC for 3 years, and financed for 5 years. Ive never had a late payment. Im your ideal customer. Im also a combat veteran. So corporate says they want to put a fuel injector cleaner type into the car and see if that works. They did that today and when I spoke to the service guy at VW we both agreed that it wasnt going to do anything. He asked if I could leave the car overnight so the tech can cold start it in the morning and they were authorized to do the procedure again. I said to do it, might as well since its free, and I have to the steps corporate spoke about. As I was writing this, corporate called. I told her I was doing research and seeing other people having the same problem and that I was so angry. Of course she said We dont want you to be angry, and I said we both know theres only one way Im not going to be angry and thats to just clean it properly. I told her I wouldnt have bought the car if I knew this would happen. I wouldve leased or financed something new or left VW all together. So we shall see tomorrow how this soap opera continues. I will fight this to the end and take it as high up the ladder as need be. I recommend that if other people are having the same problem to contact corporate and fight with me. Thanks for reading, God bless and Fight The Power.

On March 16, 2012, my daughter purchased a 2009 VW Tigua from Herman Cook, VW, Inc., 1435 Encinitas Blvd., Encinitas, CA 92024. Since then, the vehicle has had numerous problems, and has cost her thousands of dollars in repairs at VW dealerships in Southern California. She has followed due diligence in having the car serviced, but has continued to have costly repairs. Listed below are the issues.June 27, 2012, only three months after purchasing vehicle, paid $290.95 at Volkswagen Santa Monica (Invoice **) for: front headlamp, engine oil service, balance 4 wheels, brake fluid replace and bleed. August 29, 2012, paid $237.30 at Volkswagen Santa Monica (Invoice **) for: removed and replaced driver side HID light bulb. June 7, 2013 paid $50 (deductible) at McKenna Volkswagen for: right headlight (Invoice **). April 22, 2014, paid $382.65 at McKenna Volkswagen (Invoice (**) for : bulb (N-103-201-02), perform campaign # **. Recall Fuse (Plug-in position F 16), 40,000 mile service (non-turbo). November 21, 2014, paid $241.71 at McKenna Volkswagen (Invoice **) for : 013 campaign/recall 4515 CV burned out turning light bulb N-103-201-02 bulb, and 50,000 mile service.September 5, 2015, paid $3,075.52 at McKenna Volkswagen (Invoice **) for Perform Intake valves De-Carb, 03511 optimizer 2 Pack, flush AC system and replace AC compressor, condenser and expansion valve, recharge AC system, replace wiper blades, replace rear brake pads, replace right brake lights, cornering lights, and bumper marker bulb (3 total bulbs replaced for this invoice). Invoice states EST: 1,069 31AUG15 13:34 SA: 1692). I believe there are major issues with design of engine that caused sludge to build up in engine at low mileage, and also poor AC design that caused compressor to come apart and cause tiny metal particles to infect the entire AC system that resulted in over $1,600 of AC repair.June 3, 2016, paid $2,465.90 at McKenna Volkswagen (Invoice **) for replaced left outside brake light, replace leaking water pump and coolant, perform complete coolant system flush exchange, replaced leaking valve cover, vacuum pump gasket, upper timing cover and CAM sensor seal, replaced front brake pads, replaced 2 tires and balance new tires, front end align, perform oil change and filter.Today, August 13, 2016, as I was preparing this communication, my daughter texted me to say that the cars message system is now telling her that now something is wrong with the parking brake, and that another light needs to be fixed. This never ends, and the car is a lemon that has numerous faulty issues. Therefore, in four years of purchasing this used previously owned vehicle from a Volkswagen dealer, the lemon car has cost an additional $6,744.03. My daughter has been very diligent about taking the car in for routine service, but the additional costs are totally unacceptable and she, as a part-time working single mother with a 3-year old child, cannot continue to afford what I consider design flaw costs for the 2009 Volkswagen Tigua.

Local dealer did a diagnosis of an 06 GTI with broken cam chain, claimed warranty extension doesnt apply with a part on the warranty on the parts list. Contacted VWOA and after talking to a case worker, found the dealer never checked one of the things listed on the warranty I asked them to check. Gross incompetence at the least, already filed a complaint via NHTSA, may do so with state attorney general. These failing engine parts will result in death eventually and several people have already had close calls. The parts in question arent listed as serviceable parts, so since Im not a psychic I dont know to check them. Will probably not buy another VW unless my car is magically fixed and not at my cost.

I had a MAP sensor replaced after the engine light came on. It came back on again after a month. Today driving and less than a 1/2 mile from home a warning came on and read low oil pressure engine off, but it never did go off. I pulled up a few recalls Friday before I left work, one being the MAP sensor and creaking of the suspension (I heard it a few times but thought maybe it was just cold) and worn, cracked CV boots. I contacted the dealer and currently waiting for a appointment to address the recalls. You can find most recalls on the Chiltons Library.

I bought a 2008 Volkswagen EOS in 2008. My car leaks when it rains. I have brought it in to the dealership multiple times. They said they replaced the seals but it is still leaking. My car has been leaking for two years. Every time I bring it in, I have to find another ride to work and back to the dealership.I am concerned about health problems if there is mold growing under the seats. I am also concerned that the leaking water may be causing rusting in spots that I cant see. My door panel has the vinyl peeling off in one spot and they are fixing it tomorrow.I really hate my Volkswagen EOS, that I paid $38,000 for 3 years ago. It has been nothing but trouble and stress. I bought this car thinking it would be a nice vehicle that would last me for many years to come. It is not made of good quality like I would expect from a company such as Volkswagen.

TDI Settlement - The initial process of having VW review my documents took much longer than the stated/required time and I anticipated a delay due to the volume. I received my final offer letter 12/28/2016 and before I could send them back my car was totaled on 12/30/2016. I have since called the 1-844-98-CLAIM number listed on the VW claim site 4 times. I have gotten a different answer every time on how to switch the claim to restitution only. I was advised that I do qualify for restitution and I hope that is true. Ive been advised to fill out the 24-page paper claim and send it in. I was then told that my login would be restarted and I would then file for restitution only. To restart the website would take 3 days. Its been a week and nothing has changed on the website. Ive asked for a supervisor to call me which would take 24-72 business hours and Im beyond that and no call.I called back today and was advised a new option to start a new claim on the website with a different email address. I again asked for a supervisor to call, however I have NO faith that it will ever happen. Im not about to fill out a 24-page paper claim form or create a new email address just to start the claim process all over again online. VW has all my ownership information and it has been verified. I can understand submitting proof that the car was in an accident and rendered a total loss. I have no problem submitting additional required documentation, but to start all over after months of waiting is ridiculous to ask their customers.

After four years of dealing with Volkswagen customer service I have made my mind up to never buy another! I like my 2010 Jetta TDI Sportswagen - its a nice car to drive and get decent fuel mileage. I have dealt with two different dealerships on various issues, and feel their service representatives are very poorly trained. Can you imagine one of them telling me that my spark plugs needed replacement - on a diesel, there are no spark plugs! Or a labor charge of $90.00 to replace the rear window wiper. The wiper itself cost $16.00 as a separate charge. This car has never been touched by anyone but VW dealers, and they stripped the oil pans drain plug out?? Then blamed it on me because I have the cars oil changed too frequently??The latest issue was an engine trouble light. They charged me $99.99 just to read the problem, then tell me the problem is your glow plug is bad. Diesel engine will not start without an active glow plug. I feel I am being ripped off. And when I total all the charges, I realize I would have been better off financially driving another vehicle with half the fuel economy. Today I got an answer back from corporate that they took my complaint and passed it on to the dealer -- whats wrong with this picture??? Before you invest in any Volkswagen product, consider their poor, and very expensive service work, and no help from the manufacturer. Customer Service Counts!!!

I had my VW Jetta for three years, the problem began when I wanted to purchase the vehicle I leased. It took 3 months of calling to get the payoff in writing. I would call VW Credit and sit on hold for at least 30 minutes, before someone would answer. If I could stay on hold that long, I work full-time, and my Mother had heart surgery, so time was not something I had a lot of. If and or when someone would answer, one of two things would happen. They would disconnect me or tell me they could not help me. Call the dealership. I call the dealership and they tell me to call VW Credit. Finally, I got the payoff, then the check engine light comes on. Guess what happened when I took it to the dealership, the same all over again. Ive been there three times with nothing in writing as to whats wrong with it. Plus an open recall that was not even addressed. I am saddened by the complete disconnect from VW. I have an appointment at a local Ford dealership, that has a former VW technician on staff to diagnose the problem. I really thought VW was a quality product, I never had this problem with a Ford.

I purchased a VW Jetta TDI in early 2010. By mid-2011, the Air Conditioner was not working properly and I needed a new Compressor that cost me $1200. Approximately 3 years later, I am told that I need another compressor because the A/C is not working. I have had this vehicle for approximately 4 years and literally it has had 3 compressors. I am about to spend $1400 on this 3rd compressor and Volkswagen Customer Care Unit people state that there is no assistance they can provide. The car has too many years on it (a total of four) and I will have to pay for the 3rd compressor (I paid for the second one too). The only comment I have is that I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER VW VEHICLE; IT IS CRIMINAL AND PATHETIC THAT A COMPANY STATES 3 COMPRESSORS IN 4 YEARS IS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. What a hypocritical Care Unit. I have received no satisfaction and I would never recommend purchasing a Volkswagen vehicle.

We have 2 VW Diesel TDIs and we have been corresponding with VW for 3 months about both the buyback and the modification. We got the final approval letter for the modification back very quickly but once you call to schedule an appointment at the dealership, they say that the modification hasnt even been developed yet and they give you 1/3 of the money they owe but not until a modification has been APPROVED which could be several months and then you get the other 2/3 of the money once it is installed. A TOTAL SCAM!We then decided that they is so scandalous that we dont either one of our VWs anymore so we called and said we changed our mind and want to turn in both VWs. Of course when we call, they say the final offer has been approved for the buyback and we should get an email in our portal any day. That was a month ago... In the meantime, we still have to pay the payments and VW is still making money off us. Something needs to be done. The customer service agents are clueless. VERY ANGRY... I brought my 2013 VW Jetta back to the VW dealership for the buyback on March the 24th. They were supposed to have a check ready for me when I delivered the vehicle. They apparently lost it. We received an initial letter saying further instructions for banking info for the direct deposit would follow. Nothing came. After several calls I get told (like others) the claim has been escalated. After another phone call to their claims department I was asked if I had a firewall set up on my email account. I said yes so they asked if I had a personal email account. I was informed it will take 7 to 10 business days to get a email to our gmail account.I called them today the 11th of April for status. We get told they have tried calling to give us information. We never received any such calls. They are liars which is proven by the mess they are in right now. They have now given us a Canadian fax number to send information to. I dont understand that. We now get told it will take another 7 to 10 business days to receive the funds which I highly doubt. It seems Volkswagen is doing everything they can to stall. We have several VWs in our company and after this I will not deal with them again. Completely incompetent company. Of course it leaked then just like when it rains really hard. Called volkswagen customer service and they told me that they dont recommend taking to high pressures car wash and that they feel there is no issue. I was fed up constantly taking car to dealer not only for leaking but other issues. My car has condensation on inside of windows and the leather that cover door panels have peeled up from door. My name is Joe ** and I purchased a 2017 Passat model S. I am already having issues that VW USA has refused to address. My iPhone automatically syncs and auto plays my music from my iPhone causing my battery to drain. On my particular vehicles model (S), I am being told there is no option to chose for the music from my iPhone to stop auto playing. The only Option built in to the software of my radio is to completely shut off the BT Audio tab. By doing so, I am unable to use the hands free Bluetooth function of my incoming and out going calls.I am also unable to use the Bluetooth audio feature to play navigation through my car speakers. I have been in close contact with Apple Engineering and have confirmed this is not an issue with my iPhone. I do not this issue my with BMW or my Honda CRV because there is a tab programmed in to the radios software to prevent my music from auto playing. The even more aggravating thing is that this auto play (stop) button is built in to the radio software on the VW Passat SE model (the more expensive model). Is this a ploy by VW to get me to spend an extra $5,000?I feel that VW is placing the lives of myself and my family to be at risk of death or serious injury by forcing me to actually place my hands on my phone while driving. Anyone else experiencing this issue? I have Googled dozens of VW forums with other VW owners with the same exact problem! Is VW deliberately placing their customers lives at risk just because we have chosen a base model? I find this to be disgusting and a total lack of customer service. Can you help escalate a resolution for this serious life safety problem? If not a simple software patch then how about replacing my radio? I am very concerned with the safety of my family and I.

Dont buy a Volkswagen. I made the mistake. And Im here to prevent you from doing the same thing. Heres the deal. Volkswagen is a dishonest company. Dieselgate proved that. Some of the companys former executives are now in prison. Theyre literally convicted criminals. But the issue is beyond Dieselgate. Volkswagens tend to feature some really nice German engineering with some fatal flaws that make the cost of ownership rise astronomically. Volkswagen Group of America takes no responsibility for any of this and instead only responds when it faces a class action lawsuit. I purchased a Volkswagen CC in 2010. It was an amazing, graceful vehicle for the first four years. And then became -- and remains -- like a star athlete who got injured early in his career, turning into a shell of what he once was. My Volkswagen CC is the Penny Hardaway of cars.First there was the carbon buildup issue with the intake manifold. Long story short, the intake manifold has a design flaw. It results in the buildup of carbon deposits. This is a common issue with VW and Audi direct injection engines. VW will lie to you about why it happens, blaming the type of gas you use. Cleanup costs $500-$800 to clean. Two VW dealerships lied to me about aspects of the issue, telling me two different stories. VW Group of America refused to pay for the cleaning. Ultimately, I had to get it cleaned by a non-dealer specialist. And now my turbo is failing, putting the longevity of the engine at risk. VW Group of America refuses to cover the replacement of the turbo, though the dealer technician said hes seen a lot of turbos fail.Ive had a host of other problems with this car. Leaks, replacements of shocks and struts, multiple battery failures, and frequent flat tires. Theres a class action lawsuit alleging that the suspension of the car has a design flaw, causing premature tire wear. Thats happened with me. Ive had to buy a total of 12 additional new tires for this car. Ive had to replace the battery three times. Ive had to get the intake manifold cleaned. Now I have to get the turbo replaced.I have a spreadsheet detailing my maintenance and repair costs, toiling in roughly $10,000 over eight years. There are other repairs various dealers have recommended that I did not get done or chose cheaper alternatives. Altogether, they would have totaled more than $6000 more. Every dealer comes with their own set of $2000 recommended repairs.Anyway, theres a clear pattern: these problems Ive experienced are mainly based on VW design flaws. The fuel pump issue (for which theres a recall) causes the battery to drain. The suspension design flaw (for which theres a class action lawsuit) causes the tires to wear quickly. The direct injection engine causes carbon buildup on the intake manifold. And my guess is theres some fatal flaw with the turbos. VW is a company that only responds to these issues when facing legal action. Thats why their execs are in jail. Dont make the mistake I made. Dont buy a Volkswagen. They continue to deceive after Dieselgate and should be out of business. Unethical people.
