2025 Kia Sportage Hybrid

The 2025 Kia Sportage Hybrid continues to blend efficiency, style, and versatility in a compact SUV package, offering drivers a more eco-friendly alternative without sacrificing performance or comfort. For the new model year, the Sportage Hybrid retains its striking, modern design while incorporating subtle refinements and enhanced technology to keep it competitive in a rapidly evolving segment.

Under the hood, the Sportage Hybrid pairs a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine with an electric motor, producing a combined output of around 227 horsepower. This setup is matched to a smooth-shifting six-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive comes standard, while an available all-wheel-drive system offers extra traction for varying road and weather conditions. The hybrid powertrain delivers brisk acceleration, particularly in city driving, while offering impressive fuel efficiency compared to its gasoline-only counterpart.

The exterior styling of the 2025 Sportage Hybrid remains bold and distinctive, with Kia’s signature tiger-nose grille, sharp LED headlights, and dynamic body lines giving it a premium presence. Available two-tone paint options and a range of alloy wheel designs allow buyers to personalize the SUV’s look. The overall design is both aerodynamic and rugged, appealing to drivers who want a crossover that feels modern yet capable.

Inside, the Sportage Hybrid continues to impress with a spacious and upscale cabin. High-quality materials, soft-touch surfaces, and well-placed controls create an inviting atmosphere. The SUV offers generous passenger and cargo space, with the hybrid battery cleverly positioned to avoid significantly reducing storage capacity. The rear seats fold nearly flat, making it practical for carrying larger items.

Technology is a major highlight in the 2025 model. The driver is greeted by a dual-screen setup—typically featuring a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster alongside a large infotainment touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, along with Bluetooth, multiple USB-C charging ports, and available wireless charging. Higher trims add premium touches like a Harman Kardon audio system, panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated front seats, and a head-up display.

Kia also continues its commitment to advanced driver assistance features. Standard safety technologies include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control. Top trims may include additional aids like a surround-view camera system and remote smart parking assist, enhancing convenience and peace of mind.

On the road, the Sportage Hybrid offers a balanced driving experience. The hybrid system transitions smoothly between gasoline and electric power, with minimal vibration or noise intrusion. The suspension is tuned for comfort but remains composed when cornering, and the steering feels precise for a vehicle in this class. Drivers can select different drive modes to tailor performance for efficiency, sportiness, or slippery conditions.

Overall, the 2025 Kia Sportage Hybrid continues to stand out as a strong contender in the compact hybrid SUV market. It delivers a well-rounded mix of fuel efficiency, practicality, style, and technology—making it a great choice for families and commuters alike who want to save on fuel without giving up versatility or comfort.

Less than impressed with this company and severely aggravated and disgusted. The Kia experience in general has really gone downhill in the past 10 years, but after my last purchase, it will be my last and I wish I could go back in time. From sales to service to Kias consumer affairs, everyone dropped the ball and rate a huge FAIL.Kia Consumer Affairs used to be a last line of sanity and a place to go where you could get help; now theyre just people who act like they are doing something, but ultimately just ignore you and never follow up or follow through. As others have said, watch the numbers closely in Finance because they will try to add things without asking. My last experience turned me so sour Ill probably get rid of this brand new 2021 car that is riddled with computer bugs and subpar paint before its even six months old. The car will start falling apart after the first year anyway. Terrible company with a terrible internal culture in how they deal with customers and they are turning out cheap vehicles.

The 2006 Kia Optima has 97,000 miles. Now, it has a transmission problem. Kia wants to pay for labor only and stated the transmission fluid used is not in the handbook. Manufacturer sent list to show that the fluid is for Kia. Still, they are refusing to pay. I told the Kia dealer to go ahead and fix the car, but I still like Kia to honor its warranty obligation. Please help.

2013 KIA RIO5 SX, 77,000 miles. August 6, 2018. Driver side passenger door, electric window would not go down. Took to KIA dealer & found out the sound barrier material that was glued to inside of door was falling apart & jamming window. Dealer checked all 4 doors & found the drivers door sound barrier material was also falling apart. Dealer said no replacement is available. Dealer removed sound barrier material in drivers door and driver side passenger door. Mileage is over the 60,000 mile warranty so I was charged $186.03. I called KIA 800-333-4542 & opened case 12821760. KIA said car was out of warranty & there is nothing they can do. This car is well maintained & never in an accident. This sound barrier material should not have failed in under 5 years.

I was driving into town to get gas before heading to work. I ran out of gas, called my roadside assistance, had them come give me fuel, tried starting it, and the roadside assistance person thought the battery was dead, and put a charger on it, and it still wouldnt start, and was recommended to have it towed, which I did. I called my mechanic at noon, to find out it had no oil, and the engine was seized. When I went to the shop there were no codes that pulled and I had no lights on the dash, no oil light, no check engine, etc. The mechanic actually had to show me where the oil light was, as it is right next to the low fuel light - I would have noticed it. Ive spoken to Kia who says there have been no issues with the 2012 Kia Sorento, but I beg to differ. I believe the sensor or fuse for the oil light had to have been malfunctioning, which led to my vehicle running out of oil, unlike Kia who suggested it was due to negligent maintenance on my part.

I brought my used 2007 Kia Optima in June 2011. A few months later, the red air bag light on the drivers side start coming on. It stayed on. In April 2012, I thought my problem was solved when I received a recall letter about the air bag. The dealer stated that he fixed the problem but the red light is still on. He stated that there was another problem with the passenger side air bags. I did notice that side too. I will not pass car inspection in June if the light is still on. To fix the problem, it would cost $1,000.00 to replace the seat because Kia hasn’t recalled this air bag.

I have received my 2nd safety recall on my 2010 KIA Soul which I bought brand new at Terry Reid KIA in Cartersville, GA. I had to relocate to Green Valley, AZ in 7/13 to come under the treatment of a highly specialized physician after becoming extremely ill as I was unknowingly put into a hazardous toxic mold environment at a resort which we eventually found behind all the wallpapered areas -- this facility had been infested with this toxic molds, come to find out, for years with no action being taken. I am now multi-chemically sensitive and cannot be in any dealerships where there are smells and odors as it will complicate my situation even further. I was just directly exposed to poisonous pesticides at my complex as management did not put up advance warnings as to when these would be used around my building and have been extremely ill as a result. I have a KIA Soul which must be repaired and am unable to get it to the closest dealership (over 1 hr one-way from me) due to my health conditions, and this will take at least 3 hours to repair. I have emailed KIA Consumer Services to get my car towed into Jim Click KIA in Tucson to get this unsafe situation fixed. I would have to stay with my vehicle in an environment that I cannot be in as this is being repaired; no one to pick me up here, etc. So, we will wait and see what KIA will do to help me with this dilemma.

We change our oil every 3,000 miles, and we have 90K on this vehicle and no lights, no problems, when the car starts making a large knocking noise. Just wanted to vent in regards to the poor quality of my Rio. I bought it used from my local KIA dealership in February, 2012, and financed on a three year contract. On June 18, 2013, I was driving it in town and it just died on me with no warning. A policeman happened to be going by, and he helped me guide it to the side of the road and stayed with me to direct traffic until a tow truck could arrive. This was a dangerous situation and I am grateful that the policeman was there. I had my car towed to a mechanic my family has used locally for 30 years. The tow truck driver and policeman guessed that it was either a started problem or an alternator; I was shocked when the mechanic called me to report that my engine was gone and I would need to purchase a new one. Specifically, on the mechanics report, it stated that the car has suffered a catastrophic engine failure...cylinder has dropped a valve and there is damage to another cylinder. There was no possible way I could afford to buy a new engine, but a used one was located, which would have cost me $2700 for parts and installation. Being I still owed payments on the car until February, 2015, I knew I could not pay for the car plus the engine replacement. The mechanic volunteered that he hated to see me invest the money into replacing the engine because the car was just not worth it. He recommended I sell it for scrap, perhaps getting $400-$500. Unfortunately, being I was still owing payments on the car, the option of selling it was not an option. At this time, my KIA Rio had 97,000 miles on it. My next step was to contact my local KIA dealership and explain what had happened. I thought it was incredible that the engine had completely failed ~ I had kept up on oil changes and normal maintenance, even paying KIAs service department to replace a disintegrated gear shift four months after purchasing the car! Not once had I been notified that the engine had issues. The dealership did not address the engine dying problem, but rather tried to talk me into trading in the dead car and buying a new(er) one. This would have meant I would have had to add the remaining balance due on my dead car into the amount of my payments on a new(er) car, something I could not possibly afford. KIA did offer to replace my engine with a used one for $2200, $500 less than my mechanic quoted, but by this time I had spoken with friends in the car repair business who agreed that my Rio was not worth fixing. By searching online, I was shocked to read about the same problem other Rio owners had posted. Is this a KIA manufacturing problem? My family have owned many cars, various makes and models, running into high mileage, and have never had an engine completely fail like this. I cannot help but think this is a poorly made car and I do not understand why a recall was never initiated once it became obvious that many customers were losing engines. It makes me sick when I realize I am still responsible for payments on a car sitting dead in my garage. I honestly feel the engine failed through no fault of mine and I am furious that KIA is allowed to continue ignoring such a major concern of Rio owners.

I bought my car brand new in March of 2011 from Phil Smith Kia in Lighthous
I bought my car brand new in March of 2011 from Phil Smith Kia in Lighthouse Point Florida. It was one of the newer models of the Kia Soul, shadow black. A couple months after buying the car I noticed that the tire pressure light was constantly on. I ask on my next oil change and of course they said it just needed air, but boy were they wrong. I wish I knew right then to declare my car a lemon under Florida State Law. Months went by and the issue still persisted. I was still told to ignore it, that when I came there they would just reset it and it would stop. Two years later in 2013 while driving in the middle of the night, all the indicator lights starting going off in my car simultaneously and the car shut down. It would not restart! 2 years old less than 20,000 miles! I had it towed backed to Phil Smith Kia. They said a module had to be ordered for my car. They ordered it, the manager Mihai left and all of a sudden it was never ordered and of course they didnt see what the problem was. Nothing was showing up when they run test. At this point Sheldon is taking care of my car. A year passed, tire pressure light still on, when all of a sudden all of the lights simultaneously again. Imagine my fear of my car shutting off again. And when I say all the lights I mean, tire pressure light, air bag light, engine light, brake light, abs light. The electric odometer wasnt working. The rpm was going up and down. It was as if my car was possessed! I immediately took it to the dealership to find out what was wrong. They say, Oh we dont show that these lights are coming on. We need proof! Hello look at your record. Ive been here a million times. They say the only light we see is your air bag, your passenger airbag needs to be replaced, come back we have to order the part. I come back (Its 2014 now). They replaced the airbag. The airbag light is still on. My car is still acting possessed. Took it back. They still claimed they couldnt find anything. Took it back again. Oh they finally find something. We have to replace your air bag module. I come back. They order the airbag module. The lights are still going off. I come back again. They told me they ordered the wrong one. Well call you when we get the right one. They get the right one and replace it. It is 2015 now. The lights are still going off. Apparently when they replaced it they didnt finish resetting everything. So now they reset everything and tell me to come back and get it. I come back to get it and they drove all of the gas out of my car. It was on E! and on top of that the lights were still going off. I was so fed up I left in anger, not knowing what to do. Two weeks later I call again - make an appointment. I find out that Sheldon is no longer with Phil Smith Kia and now Charlie the service manager will be taking care of my car and it will absolutely be fixed this time. I drop the car off on Saturday 8/1. Was told I couldnt get a shuttle home while they worked on my car, When they told me it would take all morning, (Ive gotten a shuttle home every Saturday I was there before) I had to call for a ride and received not one phone call back when I called multiple times all day! After the 5th call, Oh sorry we didnt call you. Lets just give you a rental car and you can keep your car here. Days go by no phone calls. I have to call. Once I call, Kia corporate is involved at this point. I get several apologetic phone calls saying that they will make sure everything is ok, that my car is finally fixed and they will test drive it with me. Wednesday 8/5 I leave work early to pick up my car - call the dealership to let them know Im on my way. I got to the service center at 5:40 pm due to traffic. The service center closes at 6pm. No one was there! I walk into the dealership to speak with the receptionist. She informs me that Charlie left for the day because it was SLOW!!! WTF. I left work early to come here, have been late to work have taken days of time off to come to this dealership and no one is here! I am floored. Cassandra the receptionist informs me that she has no authority to release my car. I leave, because Im obviously upset, in tears at this point. I call Kia corporate. They say that there is nothing they can do for me but report this incident and that I need to talk to a general manager. I called for the general manager and was informed that he wasnt there and that I would have to call back in the morning. Then I tried to see if anyone could release the keys to my car. No one has the authority to do this. OK THOUGH IM PISSED I WILL WAIT to get my car that will not be given to me. MY CAR! I call in the morning and speak to West ** and explain to him my entire situation over the years. All he says is that he will check on it and call me back within the hour. Surprise! No phone call. I call again and was told he wasnt even in the building anymore. I called again to speak to Charlie with no avail. At this point Im being ignored and disrespected. I finally get a call back hours later with a sorry apology from the service manager and have still not heard from West **, the general manager who said he would call me back. I had to come up with the solution. I had to beg them to drive the car to me so that I could return my rental car and not be stuck. My car has all new tires, new brakes, a new battery, a new airbag - all done recently. Long story short. I will never buy another Kia in my life and I would advise no one else to either. The way that Ive been treating is appalling. I would like to give a round of applause to Phil Smith Kia for their crappy service. Good luck to the person that buys this car because Im getting rid of it. Thank you for reading. And thank you Kia for doing absolutely nothing but giving me headaches, excuses and more gray hairs!

I feel that the finance representative was not accommodating and discounted me, after I signed the contract. I had it adjusted because of extra charges, the paperwork is different on other copies (the trade-in value was decreased to hide the extended warranty of $2000.00). He did not go over the contract. His name was Collin ** at Legend Kia in San Antonio (IH 35 N, San Antonio, TX, 210-650-9969). I obtained financing from my bank, which exceeded the cost of the vehicle I initially chose. I wanted to upgrade to another vehicle and he told me I had to pay the difference out of my pocket (which was not true). I feel discriminated against because I am a black female that went into the dealership alone to purchase a vehicle. I dont feel a man would have been treated the same.

2013 Kia Optima Hybrid - I have taken my vehicle to the Alhambra dealer 4 times due to a clicking noise on the brake and accelerator every time I would come to a light or a stop. The first 2 times they would fix it and then the noise would come back in a few days. The third time they did not find any noise which is irritating because I would hear every single day. The fourth time I went on a ride along with a mechanic and he clearly heard the noise so they had me waiting there for 4 hours till they told me I had to leave the car for further inspection. The vehicle was left at the dealer on 3-14-2018.As of today I still do not have my vehicle and they did not offer a rental or anything, I have been getting rides to work and back home and neither did they give me a date to pick up my vehicle. I call on a daily basis for an update and they just keep giving me the runaround and the majority of the time they do not return my calls when I leave voicemails, I also opened a case with KIA and the supervisor that has my case does not return my calls or emails either. I have never ever experience this kind of problem with any vehicle or any dealership. I am still under warranty with them but with no help on their behalf. This is really frustrating.

The Car is Kia cerato 2011 with identification number of KNAFW411BB5369214. The purchase date was15-7-2011 and the number of kilometers is 9000. The car has been received on 15-7-2011 from the main branch (Abu rRwash, Cairo /Alex. Desert road) and after one month from using the car, it was noted when two persons ride on the back seat that a crack sound in the suspension system is heard. I went to Kias agent Elgendy 3S Elmahalla Elkobra branch to solve this problem and accordingly, after the maintenance, the sound disappeared. After five days only from the maintenance, the sound comes back again. As of now, I went six times to Kias agents and every time sound disappears and comes back after 4-5 days from maintenance. I have sent more than one complaint to the Egyptian International Trading & Agencies Co. and until now the problem is not yet solved. Upon this, I have advised all of my friends and relatives not to buy any Kia cars as bad after sales services increase customer dissatisfaction and negatively affect Kias sales and reputation. Finally, I need my problem to be solved; otherwise my car needs to be replaced. Thanks and kind regards.

I bought a Kia with 0 miles driving off the lot. I unfortunately have been required to get two new axles, but the issue persist (maybe another broken axle now; becoming three), several new tires, which according to Kia, werent covered under the warranty, or were not the direct result of my axle(s) being broken two (probably three) different times. For life of me I cannot understand this but okay. This is all in addition to my breaks being shot at 37000 miles. So now aside from a large monthly payment Ive had to spend $3,000 on a car that is supposedly covered by a full warranty. This goes without saying my backup camera has broken two different times as well as the really cool feature of my mirrors going in while the car is locked has also broken three different times. After being tired of getting my car misdiagnosed at a Kia dealership I brought to a third party place. The third party told me for a car that has 37,000 miles on it I should not be having these issues. I talk to Kia and some of the representative seem to care while other Representatives not so much. If I could give some advice it is to never buy a Kia or anything that has to do with Kia. As a Kia customer I cannot tell you how dissatisfied I am and I will never buy a Kia again. Indeed, the one thing I do when I meet new people is to tell them to never buy a Kia because Kia is the worst company ever. Dont buy a Kia.

I purchased an 09 Borrego in January. About 3 weeks after I got it, it just dies when I was rolling to a stop. I thought, Maybe I just didnt give it enough gas. Weird, who knows? Then it happened again in a drive-thru, a few times at a stop light, chugged while I was going uphill and downhill and died while I was driving on I-25. I was nearly plowed by numerous vehicles (More than one person in my family experienced this while driving). So, we took it in. The dealership acted like I was out of my mind. Drove the car for a few hundred miles and called and told me they couldnt get it to act up. I explained, at length, that nothing happened before it died or after so there was nothing they could do to replicate the problem. They had us pick it up. My husband drove the Borrego home on back roads as our daughter was following him and she doesnt drive in traffic. They never drove over 45 mph. The next day, I drove to work. Halfway there, the SUV starts shimmying. I drove back roads home. My husband figured it might be me feeling it more because I had been driving another car. SO, we hopped in and started driving. About 15 miles down the road, the Borrego shook too hard to proceed. My son switched vehicles with us and when he was backing the Borrego in - shocker- IT DIED. So, back o the dealer it went. They said the shaking was from mud on the tire assemblies (I found out in this convo that the mechanic had driven it hard over bumpy roads to see if it was a wiring issue). Again, they acted like I was nuts, but gave me a borrower car. They offered to clean wires to the ECM and give it back, but cannot explain why it dies. I refused to take it back. They had an engineer from Kia out and offered to put a special computer on it so the next time it does it, they can tell why. All that has to happen is for someone to drive the thing and pray they dont get killed the next time it happens. They told me nobody had heard of the problem before, yet I found complaint upon complaint about this happening in Borregos and various other Kia models. So, then today I get a call from the service manager at the dealership. He asked to drive my car over the weekend (I hesitate to let them drive all over as I had to pay a lot of money for a mileage limited warranty which they are eating away at the mileage of). Little did I know until I got a call from the dealership manager that the service guy was planning to drive the Borrego all the way to Kansas (a state and numerous hundreds of miles away). The manager then informed me that to trade out of the Borrego, I would need several thousand dollars down because of the length of time in this vehicle and the depreciated value! I have had the POS 5 months! He told me he remembered me having to roll negative equity into the loan on the Borrego - huge joke - I didnt trade anything in on it! I was asked if it had lights flicker before it died, um-NO and I would have said so. Did it happen while braking? Again - NO and I would have said so. Bottom line, Kia has several models that die without warning and nobody seems to know how to fix it. It is dangerous. My husband asked the dealership manager how hed feel putting his loved ones in this vehicle knowing the car could stop running and someone could be killed? His response was Of course I wouldnt want to. Why would you even go there and say something like that? Well, KIA and dealership, wed ask because we face it every time we get into the defective vehicle you manufactured!

Once home began the work of what’s wrong with my car, getting the rental paid and how do I get it back. It took TWO MONTHS to get my car back. The diagnosis? Manufacturer error and no specific reasoning why my car suffered a break down no one could figure out until a technician was finally sent out to take a look. Couldn’t figure it out so just did a ‘hard reset’ and then it was fixed. No idea what the problem was though AND THEN it had physical body damage and before I drove it off the lot, called Mr. Charles ** (case representative) to figure out how to rectify this. Said there’s nothing he can do. His job is to reunite me with the car not the quality of service done on the vehicle. I am abhorred with how I’ve been treated every step of the way. The reliability of KIA CONSUMER OVERALL is not even worth 1 star. My car is not reliable and neither is Kia’s customer service. Save yourself the two months of heartache I just went through and hundreds of dollars out of pocket I won’t be reimbursed.

Below is a letter I sent to the KIA corporation on behalf of my father.Good day, my name is Brent ** and Im currently deployed to Afghanistan. Last year, my father purchased a brand new Kia Sorento from Shottenkirk in West Burlington, Iowa in 2010. He has a home in Burlington, Iowa but due to his job, he works in Maryland so as you can imagine he travels frequently between the states to see family. The first time my dad showed me his new Kia Sorento, he was extremely happy with his purchase as was I for reliability and safety options that came with the vehicle. Ive been reading numerous reviews regarding the Kia brand, so I felt extremely comfortable about my fathers new purchase. Being deployed, Ive had time to review different vehicles for myself when I return home from deployment. I have seen and driven the Kia Sorento and I consider it to be one Im seriously considering on purchasing. I like the design, power and third row seating with all the luxury amenities that come with the Sorento. Ive mentioned this to fellow co-workers deployed with me who are also looking for a vehicle when they return back home and Ive been able to sway them to consider the Kia Sorento as well.In early September, my father was driving home from Maryland back to Iowa. The vehicle stopped working, there was a problem with the engine thus leaving my father stranded at night. He had to call a tow truck that took him and the vehicle to the nearest Kia dealer, Coughlin Kia of Newark, Ohio, 43055. There my father was provided an Enterprise rental car to continue his 550 mile trip back to Burlington, Iowa. That week he needed to head back to Maryland to go back to work. Unfortunately, his vehicle was not fixed so he could not pick it up on the way to Maryland. During the week, my father had to drive 400 miles to pick up his vehicle and pay for the rental car.As an Acura owner, I too had a problem with my transmission around 55,000miles and the vehicle was about 4 years old at the time. My Acura required a new transmission. The Acura dealership provided me with one of their vehicles while mine was being fixed until I was ready to pick-up. There was no charge for a rental car and the service I was given by Acura was top notch.I dont want to discredit the Kia brand based on the service provided by the Kia dealerships my dad interacted with. Im disappointed to hear that Coughlin Kia of Newark did not compensate my father for the entire rental vehicle knowing my father had to drive hundreds of miles to pick it up then back again. My father informed Shottenkirk in West Burlington, IA - where he purchased the new vehicle. Shottenkirk didnt try to mitigate the situation or help compensate him for the rental vehicle. My father did not ask for gas or per dime for his troubles as I would have. He just asked for full reimbursement for a rental vehicle and was denied.I believe this type of treatment of your new Kia vehicle owners will destroy the brand. I believe you have a great product that may need refinement. However, with the treatment of your Kia customers I find it extremely disturbing as a brand. Can this please be rectified with my father as soon as possible? I dont care if one of the mentioned dealerships listed above or Kia company itself reimburses my father for the rental car but that would be the least any of you could do.Update Dec 2011. Kia denied to reimburse my father the full claim for a vehicle rental which was less than $200.00.

I purchased a 2013 Kia Sorento 22 months ago. Driving a few days ago, the vehicle started making a very old noise, then a huge bang. Stop and the car hasnt moved since. No check engine light... no low oil like... no indication that anything was going wrong. I kept all maintenance and upkeep records. I had a log on the oil changes since my dad did them regularly. The engine locked up, Kia wants 6,500 dollars to replace. I purchased the extended warranty, the warranty company will not honor since the oil changes were not performed at a shop. Im on a very difficult place being I still owe on car and dont have 6500 dollars laying around to buy another motor... this is a known problem and they are doing nothing to fix it!! I have the warranty and they refuse to cover since my dad did the oil changes. They told me they dont have proof my dad actually physically put the oil in my car so they refuse to approve the repairs!!! This warranty coverage was not cheap either. I dont know what to do, Im a single mom, no reliable transportation to work now. Dont buy a Kia!!!

In March of 2012, I purchased a new 2012 Kia Rio. Not long after having it, the radio would not read CDs. I had it in the dealer service department several times, and I would still have the same problem. The dealer finally decided to replace the radio with a re-manufactured one. The refurbished one that was put in was even worse than the original one. It would freeze up, go out, and do things without me touching it. Also, I would lose control of it, and it would even stay on after the car was shut off, key taken out of ignition, and car locked. I took it to another dealer to have them look at it. And after a long period of time of having problems with it, it was replaced again with yet another refurbished one. It worked okay for a while, and now all of a sudden, when turned on, there is no sound. There is no sound whatsoever when I run the volume knob up and down. I am fed up with Kia for their products and service! I will never buy another Kia! I am in the process of filing a lemon law claim with the BBB. They should buy this vehicle back after countless sorry attempts to fix the problem and Im still having trouble out of it!

My car has 52k miles and for some reason, the engine light came on one morning. I was driving to work and I was only a few blocks away from home so I return and asked my roommate if I can use his car to go to work while I take my KIA to the KIA service department. When I picked up my car, they told me the cars computer just needed an upgrade. I thought it was weird but I was happy it wasnt something worse. I automatically noticed a huge, I mean huge, drop in mpg. I bought the car because it was supposed to be good on mileage, otherwise I would have bought a Prius which was my other choice. I took it back the next day and they checked it and they said that they found nothing wrong. I was really upset. They gave me a pamphlet that I should read to show me how to get better gas mileage; I was really pissed. I know how to get the best gas mileage out of my car and I do regular oil changes using synthetic - nothing but the best and regular air filter changes everything. I went from getting between 33-37 mpg to 25-28. I am a very upset KIA own. I dont know what else to do.

I would stay away from Kia vehicles as their engine build has proven to fail. There were recalls on Kia Optima engines, which my husband own and had engine failure. Recently my 2010 Kia Forte engine has failed. Less than 10 years old 120k miles, bought new, service and repairs all done at dealership and suddenly engine goes out. Called Kia and their customer service is rude as ever. My family will never again purchase a Kia.

Originally I left a 5 star review, but times have changed and the honeymoon is over. When I bought my car 2 years ago the salesman was good. I cant hate on Frankie. But dont be mislead by all these 5 star reviews. My gripe with this dealer is how they treated me during a service, WHICH HAS NOW MADE ME LOSE ALL RESPECT FOR THIS DEALER AND THIS BRAND. My car is still brand new with only 12k miles. With this many miles nothing should break on this car unless its defective. I experienced a broken wheel stud and lug nut. The wheels on my car have never been off before so obviously they must have cross threaded it at the factory. When I tried to remove it, it wouldnt budge and snapped (I was swapping wheels). Kia claimed I must have cross threaded it? How do you cross thread a lug nut when you are trying to loosen it?? Morons!!KIAs prestigious warranty would not cover it. This billion dollar company couldnt honor a warranty on a defective part that costed 10 bucks. So I asked how much to repair, since I needed it fixed? 75 bucks... Fine. Ill pay it and wait to avoid any more grief. 3 HOUR later the service advisor says we have a problem. The whole front end needs to come apart to put a 10 dollar stud in (hub, bearing, knuckle) and would need all the new parts too!!?? Huh??? Why!!? Commission maybe!!? The new price 504.00!!! LMFAO. You guys are out of your minds. Where did you make that price up... I called KIA corporate to find out about the warranty to pay for this defective part. Nothing. Useless and full of excuses.I had enough and pulled my car out of there. Guess what. Took it to a PROFESSIONAL shop and they did it for less than half the price!! Coleman KIA you lost me, and Ill make sure to let everyone know to stay away from you and KIA in general. For anyone thinking of a KIA, think hard, because when your car malfunctions (WHICH IT WILL) you will get nothing but excuses as to why the warranty will NOT cover it!!! This is your warning people!!! Once they sell you the car, they dont give a ** about your problems.

Purchased a Kia Rondo EXV6 in May 2008. Have had ongoing issues with the transmission which we started to notice around 71,000km. We brought the car in, they didnt find anything wrong. We followed our required maintenance plan and my husband is very particular about high maintenance for our vehicles. My husband purchased the extended warranty. At the time we purchased it he was told the extended warranty covered the car as though it were brand new! My husband specifically asked if the transmission drops out of this thing at 199,000kms, will it be covered? Answer was an emphatic “Yes, for sure! Guaranteed!”That was a lie. We repeatedly brought the car into two different dealerships with transmission complaints. And until last summer, the dealerships diagnostic tests deemed there was no problem found. Each time we had to pay over $100 for the diagnostic only to be told they didnt find a problem. Last summer, there was finally an acknowledgement that they found a problem with the transmission during their diagnostic. We thought “Wonderful, it will finally be fixed!” No such thing. We found out the dealership had to report to the Kia Protect extended warranty insurance company and received permission from them. They sent an adjuster out to test our car. Of course the adjuster said there was no issue and refused the repair. Approximately two weeks ago, the heater and the heater blower went on the car. We were in an extreme cold alert in our area during that time. I brought the car in for repair and once again reported the problem with the transmission. This time I pinpointed what gears were slipping when shifting and it was getting bad. We received a message from the dealership - they confirmed the transmission was not shifting properly. They indicated they would have to put the claim through the extended warranty company and then wait for approval. In the meantime, they temporarily fixed my heater so I could take my car. The next week the heat went again and at the same time the dealership asked me to bring the car in for inspection by an extended warranty company assessor. The assessor acknowledged the problem with the transmission and said it needed to be fixed. He commented to the dealerships service department that our car was in really great shape and it was worth doing the repairs because it was in such great shape. We were relieved and happy. We thought this meant the transmission would FINALLY be fixed. The next call we received was from the dealership - they asked us to bring in our proof of maintenance paperwork as the EWC (extended warranty company) was now saying they would reject the repair because we did not follow the recommended maintenance. We did the required maintenance as outlined in our Owners Manual and as advised by the dealership. We brought our paperwork in. The next call we received was from the EWC. First they tried to argue with my husband about the recommended maintenance. My husband argued that we performed our required maintenance and that not doing the recommended maintenance did not void our warranty as it wasnt a requirement. When the EWC saw this angle was not going to work, they told my husband that the car was only worth $2500 and the repairs would cost more than that so they would not approve it. My husband argued and we looked up the black book value of our car. We found a car with approximately the same kms was worth at least $4000 more than that. I took to social media to vent my frustrations and suddenly my husband receives a call from an ombudsman from Kia Canada. He spouted the same crap as the guy before. I again took to social media and then my husband received a call offering us a discounted rate of $900 to rebuild the transmission and this would include the repair of the heater and heater blower. We refused. We dont believe this company is being above board with us. They are not honouring what we were told when we purchased the warranty. This warranty is a scam. If they have no intention of repairing the vehicle then why cover it until 200,000km?!! This company should be reviewed by the government for the sales of these warranties.

I purchased a 2012 Kia Sorento back in November of 2017. After seeing the vehicle had been well maintained on the Carfax and it had low mileage of around 75,000 I felt confident the vehicle would be a reliable long term purchase for me and my family. Now just months later in May 2018 the vehicle spontaneously shut down while driving last week. Fortunately for me I on road with parking lot I could safely roll into and stop. This may not be the case if this happens to another vehicle who may be on a high traffic interstate, high speed roadways, etc. After having it towed to the local Kia dealership I am being told it needs an entire new engine. After a little research, I noticed a Kia Sorento engine failure recall for 2012-2014 due to poor engine manufacturing assembly from leaving debris in engine. After contacting Kia consumer affairs I was told my VIN was not included in this recall. However, they settled on covering half of the $4,000+ repair. If they know they are at fault, why not pay repair in entirety? They claim it is not covered under a warranty and I am ‘fortunate’ they covered as much as they did. I just wanted to educate anyone looking to purchase a new or used vehicle. Steer clear of Kia or Hyundai products unless you can justify buying a new engine before 90,000 miles. I am now going on my THIRD week of having to pay for a rental vehicle because Sorento is still is not repaired. Between the weekly vehicle rental fees, time and hassle, towing fees and the unpronounced $2,000+ for an engine repair I am beyond frustrated at the lack of customer safety concern and service. Please share this to friends and family. Even if this helps just one person not have to go through this situation in the future it was worth my time writing and sharing it.

This complaint is specific to Kia Motors Egypt. The vehicle, a 2010 model Cerato, rolled over 4 times and the airbags failed to deploy. The real tire on the passenger side burst, causing the above to occur. Kias website states the following: Ceratos standard safety protection includes dual front and side airbags, plus full length side curtain airbags to enhance the safety of driver and passenger side occupants in the event of a side impact or rollover. A Kia employee, whose name I shall not reveal, stated the following in a response: Kindly be informed that referring to your accident description and the photos you sent, the car rolled over without front impact. The front airbag system doesnt work in rollover accidents as you mentioned. The front airbag system was designed to work in the frontal accidents depending on the front impact circumstances. Kindly refer to the owners manual for non-working cases of front airbag system.

After purchasing a new Kia Sport and financing it through the Kia finance I have had one bad experience after another. I set the vehicle up on auto payment and that went fine for 1 month. After 1 month Feb 2016 I received a letter stating the payment was not made. I called and explain to the finance rep that it was set up on auto payment and that I even tried to go online and make the payment and I was not able. After some looking into the matter the rep informed me the car was totaled and they had some sort of insurance hold on it. I told them this was a mistake as the car was not totaled . After verifying insurance etc... they have not been able to successfully release the hold on this vehicle. It is now May 28th and I have called at least 10 times to resolve the issue with them with no success. Just a lot of promises to call me back, to get the issue resolved and still no success. They do not seem to have any clue how to resolve issue from department to department. Now after 3 months they are sending me collection notices and threatening letters. I have consistently attempted to rectify the problem and they are ineffective and lack any sort of resolution capacity. PLEASE KIA get it together. I refuse to pay another dime till I have something in writing stating this situation is your problem. I do not want my credit ruined because you put a hold on my vehicle by mistake. And furthermore what about the other party who totaled their vehicle. What misfortune has KIA perpetrated on them.

Update on 02/18/2019: Day 14 waiting for a resolution. Our car was taken in for service because of a check engine light being on twice. On the second inspection they determined that our transmission needs to be replaced. With the vehicle being less than 6 months old and just reaching 4,000 miles we were obviously upset. We waited for the first week asking to just have the vehicle replaced. Now Im not sure I ever want to do business with Kia again. So here we are 14 days later waiting for someone to let us know what they are going to do for us! Numerous emails and phone calls and NOTHING. It is becoming very clear that Kia is not willing to do the right thing at this point.Original: Buyer beware! My husband and I both leased new Kias in August. My Sorento needs a new transmission at less than 6 months old and at 4,000 miles. We are being told the transmission should arrive on March 10th. In the meantime I am paying a car payment on a car I dont have (at this point it is 11 days). If (big if) my car is done on time that means it will be there for 35 days! We have spoken with Randy ** (Kia consumer affairs lead escalated case) with no resolution. I have told Randy that I would like my car replaced with a comparable vehicle or a lease termination and refund. Randy is basically beating around bush without actually saying they will not do either. He would like to look into some type of goodwill. Really not interested in goodwill at this point. My family learned a valuable lesson about Kia and how much they value their customers.

This is very scary, since I never know when it is going to happen. I only have 20,000 miles on it. I really wish I had not purchased a Kia. Kia mechanics cannot find the problem. I was offered a loaner car and mine would be research more. Later that day per message on my voice mail, car is fixed, battery replaced. I bought a new car for the security and this is what I get. Last Friday it was raining and I was parked in a stall at the grocery store. I was on the phone (which comes through the radio) when I heard a loud POPPING sound and the radio went off and the screen completely black. I took the vehicle to AutoZone first as it was believed to be the fuse. The fuses were fine not blown. I then took the car to Car Pros Kia in Carson on Avalon Blvd. They charged me $118.00 for a diagnosis ($668.00) & then they say that the radio is blown. They would have to send it out for repair which would be $550.00 ($668.00-$118.00) and if they found something in it like coins & or toys/foreign objects then it would be an additional $1,500.00 on top of the $668.00. I asked if it was covered and because my car had 106,000 miles it was not covered! Out of ALL of the cars Ive owned this has got to be the worst. 3 MOS after owning it the stitching in the rear seats and the drivers seat began to come apart and of course this too wasnt covered under the warranty. We can not get a replacement car. In the meantime it has been 3 weeks and no one is giving a straight answer or saying when it will be fixed. The warranty is rubbish. Never buy a Kia.

Love the car. Had a few small problems like door handle and engine light coming on - the first week. Fixed the engine light right away... Door handle issue took ages because I had to wait for a part. I am an owner of Kia Rio 1,3/2004 and I am generally satisfied with it. There is only one problem. I must buy a new car key nearly every year. Car key is a wear off - grind in keyhole. This occurs because the key is made of brass and keyholes of steel. Service men know this, but they are powerless to solve this problem because every new elementary key is made of brass instead of steel.

I have a 2012 Soul with 43K miles. Last week the engine light came on and it started sounding like a sewing machine. I took it to the Kia dealership in Macon, GA. After only pulling the dipstick out, they determined that two litters had collapsed from starving of oil. With no service record because I change the oil myself (who can afford what a dealership charges?), engine repair/replacement is not covered under warranty. So they want $4,800 for a used engine with 6,000 miles or $7,800 for a remand engine from the factory. Its time Kia steps up to the plate and backs this crap theyre putting on the roads.

I purchased a 2014 Kia Soul Base from Halleen Kia in North Olmsted Ohio and recently received a recall notice from Kia concerning a Pinion Gear issue that could result in a crash because the plug that was adhered at manufacturing was done incorrectly. I promptly called halleen to set an appointment because I happened to have the day off and received a recall notice. I called to set an appointment and was told that they could not get me into service until next week. I was then told that this is only a problem as the car ages (which is very concerning since I recently switched from Toyota to Kia and I was a loyal Toyota owner for many many many years and this is a concern because I tend to keep cars for 8-9 years and over 100K miles)... I hope I have not made a bad purchase in purchasing a Kia and making the switch... In the past the Halleen Kia departments have been A-1. I hope this is an isolated issue and I hope that service will continue to be 5 Star.

I bought a 2019 Kia Sorento with only 35,000 miles on it. The car broke down after less than 2 months of use. It has been towed to the dealer and been sitting in their lot for over two months now. The week my car died, I also lost a family member and was unable to get to the hospital before he passed. The mechanic said they dont know what the problem is with it and they wont approve a rental until he can find the exact problem and they also will not approve a reimbursement for the rental. I have called them several times about the fact that I am making a car payment for a new car and additional fees for rental with no end in sight. I bought a new car specifically so I would not have these types of problems. This situation is completely unacceptable and I will never ever buy another Kia as long as I live. I honestly dont think the company even cares which is all the more frustrating.

We own a 06 Kia Sorento that we bought new from Jack Key in Las Cruces, NM. Once it hit 75K it started falling apart. Now the Kia master mechanic confirms it needs a complete Rear Differential repair, which is covered under the 100K power train warranty. We took the car in over a week & 1/2 and we were told the corporate office will not approve the work because Jack Key did not notify us that we needed to service the Rear Diff. (?). We bought the Car Care plan and utilized Jack Key for all oil changes and maintenance. We had the 30K mile service where they checked all levels and made sure the car was in compliance with scheduled maintenance. NOW the local regional manager is saying that they will not do anything until we prove that we had all the service done (which is IN THEIR SYSTEM). Im completely dismayed and angry at both Kia and the dealership. We invested in a KIA in good faith. In return they will not (in good faith) honor their own agreement! These people have no conscience or integrity. This is a deceptive practice and we may have to resort to a lawyer to resolve this issue if they dont step up to the plate and do the right thing.

And when trying to accelerate the car after stopping the accelerator pedal to the floor, the car does not respond. I took the car to two separate repair shops after calling the warranty company to file a report. The warranty company proceeds to send out an adjuster to inspect the car and proceeds to tell me he did not experience any issue in his test drive. I proceeded to call the warranty company and I am told that they will not fix anything unless it occurs when the adjuster is driving the car. I proceeded to tell them I am starting to think that they do not want to make the repair since the warranty will be ending at 100,000 miles. Is there anything I can do?

I purchased a 2018 Kia Sorento from Hudson Kia in Jersey City, NJ, at the end of June 2018. As I write this review, it is December 3rd, 2018. They didnt pay off my trade-in vehicle for 45+ days. The payoff was then shorted, leaving me with a rolling balance due to my former finance company. Although Kia said they would rectify with the finance company, they did NOT and I just found out it went to collections, ruining my rebuilding credit. They were supposed to submit my registration as a transfer tag. Instead, after waiting almost 2 months, I received a brand new license plate. I had already paid the year registration on my old tag. Thus, Im out $350 for a tag I didnt need and taking a loss on the registration Id already paid for the former tag. I was told at sale that I could move my payment date to mid-month from end of month after making my 1st payment. When I tried with Kia Finance, I was told this isnt an option on leases. So the finance rep LIED to complete the sale. Now my payments are perpetually 3 weeks late monthly bc of my payroll cycle. I was supposed to receive free oil changes. Yet I cant seem to get anyone on the phone from their service department. I paid $90 for a synthetic oil change (trying to be responsible), only to be told that since I had it serviced elsewhere, it voids the offer... even though I have yet to be in contact with their service department. I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE MATS FOR MY VEHICLE. They cant even be bothered to rectify something as simple as this and its almost 6 months later! I could go on, but Ill stop here.Ive called the dealership more times than I can count and spoken to several people who assured me they would take care of it. Yet not a single item has been rectified. Not one. I also filed a complaint with Kia Customer Service and not one person ever followed up with me. To make matters worse, I practically hate this vehicle. Im currently searching ways to get out of this god awful lease Im in at this point. Ive purchased several vehicles over my lifetime. This experience has been the absolute worse! I wish I could rank ZERO stars.

I owned a 2016 Sorento. On May 12, 2019 it inexplicably caught fire. It was towed to the dealership where it was purchased and the service department immediately took responsibility after inspection and since it was still under warranty they were about to begin repairs. Later that day, I was called by the Kia corporation in California (I live in Texas) and asked to give my oil change records. I normally dont keep my records and only had a few, but 2 of the last 3 had been at the dealership and the dealership had just done my Texas inspection 3 weeks prior to this. About 4 days later, Kia called and said that they would not cover the cost of repairs because I didnt have enough recorded oil changes. Our insurance couldnt pay because it was also determined by them to be a mechanical defect that was Kias fault. It was not anywhere in my warranty handbook (or any of their handbooks) that I was supposed to keep my records. I asked the lady (Ashley) about that and she said that it was implied. My father in law is a mechanic and sometimes changes our oil and his too. I wasnt sure why that oil changes would even matter if a vehicle caught fire. I am 51 years old and I have paid off and traded in multiple vehicles including 3 Kias. I owed over $9,000 on this Kia which I had to roll into my next car because the repairs were going to be $11,000. (New engine-minimal body damage).I have been blessed that this did not cripple us financially; but if we were younger and still struggling, it could have destroyed us. One of the reasons that I had purchased the Kias was because of the 10 year warranty. I feel that Kia was looking for any way to get out of their responsibility to pay. Kias own service department had already taken responsibility. It is most disheartening that some segments of society have turned to this. Needless to say I will never purchase another Kia again and if you do, be cautious on the warranty. They are not a trustworthy company at the corporate level. Since our incident, I read in consumer reports of over 290,000 other Kias spontaneously catching fire. I will continue my disagreement by bringing a lawyer into it.

I have a 2011 Kia Sorento which Ive taken very good care of. About 18 months ago I noticed a paint chip on the leading edge of the roof. I thought it might of been caused by a stone on the highway so I didnt think too much of it. About 6 months ago I found four more pieces of paint missing on the roof. A month ago the paint on my hood began to peel away down to the primer in several places. I went to Lokey Kia in Clearwater and spoke to the service manager, he told me to file a consumer complaint as Kia is notorious for not working with customers to make them happy. Theres no reason that an eight year old car should have paint peeling from the roof and hood. Was looking for a little good will from Kia and its not happening... Btw, the manager told me that I wasnt the first person hes spoken to about peeling paint. Sounds like a factory defect, but Kia doesnt want to hear that. Im also on my fourth right rear wheel speed sensor... Thats also an issue. There was a recall but it seems that they didnt fix the issue. Can someone get Kias attention please?

I want to know why the bags did not deploy? Is there any recourse? Do you sue the Kia Motor Dealers? As of right now, I dont know if my car is totaled or not. Kia Optima Hybrid Engine - We were driving home from something on Mothers Day and the car made a loud sound and the engine stopped running. It threw a rod and ruined the engine. Kia now is saying that this is not covered under warranty because the car had the wrong oil filter and was not getting adequate oil in the engine. Havoline says that this is not the case and that it is the proper filter. In addition, even if there were an issue with the filter clogging, it would bypass the filter and oil would still flow. I have done nothing wrong but now I am in a fight. It looks like Kia is trying to just make an excuse instead of actually honoring their warranty responsibility.

Leased the 2017 KIA Niro EX Hybrid car on Sunday and drove home 10+ miles.
Leased the 2017 KIA Niro EX Hybrid car on Sunday and drove home 10+ miles. Odometer had 15 miles on it. Left the car in the garage for two days and attempted to drive it early Wednesday. Backing out of the garage and was steering onto the street when the power steering warning light came on and steering was very difficult and noisy (growling) - vibrating while turning the wheel itself. Pulled back into the garage and all warning lights came on. Shut the car off and retried several times. Waited with the car idling. Battery warning light came on. Let the car sit and looked in the manual for answers. Tried backing up again and all the warning lights came on again, and steering was again very difficult. Drove back into the garage. Called the roadside assistance number and the flatbed truck took the 2017 KIA Niro EX back to the dealership. The tow driver had much trouble getting the car out of the garage and maneuvered onto the flatbed. This is a serious safety issue to us because the car could barely steer. Received call from service at KIA Cerritos saying power steering motor had to be replaced and that Korean engineers were flying out to look at the car personally. Still do not have a car, but we are in limbo now about the brand itself and are looking again at Toyota.KIA of Cerritos - a very short description of our encounter before and after. Salesman said we could have leather seats in the base model, that it takes about an hour. When we went through the agreement, he instead was selling us a 35k vehicle. I asked, how did we go from 22.5k to 35k. He wouldn’t show us the numbers through the whole process. We were very pressured to take this vehicle, and the salesman kept referring back to a ‘pre-delivery’ inspection, which seemed odd - like something was wrong. Keep in mind, this is the shortest version. After the KIA Niro steering failure and the tow truck delivered the vehicle, I had to sit through several more interviews at the Cerritos dealership, being shuffled around from office to office all afternoon, much like the initial sales day. A Head of Sales man told me the General Manager said no to my request to return the car and unwind the deal of less than 72 hours. I was going to just leave, and then I went in to confront the supposed General Manager. He said, No, Im not the General Manager, Im the Service Dept. Manager. Then he took me in to see Joe **, the real General Manager of KIA of Cerritos. The conversation with the Cerritos dealership General Manager, Joe **, was very short. He simply said he wont buy-back because its now a used car with 30 miles on it. He said he wont call back the DMV title in our name.I left the dealership and the car, which I still hadnt driven myself, in the service dept. to be fixed. When I got home I called a ‘lemon law’ consultant. He was very knowledgeable and said the dealership wouldnt have filed with DMV yet as its too early and that its usually done weekly or monthly. Remember we had the car less than 72 hours. It was late Sunday when we drove the car into our garage, and the next day was a holiday, President’s Day. So, that left Tuesday, and I attempted to drive the car Wednesday at 4am. I had also called Kia Motors Finance and they told me they couldnt find the VIN number - we had no account on file yet. In their opinion, there was no real reason for us not to be able to walk away and find another car. And of course after this, another dealership. We are still in limbo about our lease with KIA and the return of our brand new 2017 KIA Niro EX Hybrid.

I have had my car in the dealership on several occasion. I have a 2014 Kia Cadenza. A very elegant car but it is misfiring and it vibrates like crazy on a cold start and a hot start. The service advisor is always nice and polite. But the service on my vehicle is horrible. Kia knows my vehicle is misfiring and vibrating like crazy its to the point where it Im moving in the car too it vibrates so bad. I work for a Kia dealership and if Kia tech will do me like this they would do anyone like this. I would not recommend anyone to purchase a Kia Cadenza. They are garbage. 1 week after purchasing a new 2014 Soul we took it back with concerned with a really bad bog when trying to accelerate. At that time we was told by Kia of Dayton service center said that that was just the way they were. Being an ASE certified tech for over 35 years experience I was not too happy with that answer basically saying that their vehicles all run like crap and this was normal. Then my wife tells me that the transmission started to get hard to shift. Now this is at 7500 time for our first oil change, so we take it in for our first oil change and check about the transmission. After 1,200 dollars later they said damage was due to my wifes driving and would not warranty anything. But the funny thing is that our 2003 Saturn Vue has 139,000 miles on it. Ive taught my daughter how to drive it and my wife drove the car everyday and has all original clutch in it. So you tell me if a person can drive one stick shift car for over 10 years and a brand new Kia Soul 7 months and needs a new clutch. Just ask yourself how good of a vehicle did Kia build. Well I would not trust ours to take out of town. I mean would you put your family in a car that has been broken since new? Of course not. So I did what I would advise every other Kia owner do the same - go buy a real car.

Everything the other reviewers are saying is true. First of all the dealer coerced me to pay 900.00 over the sticker price. Before that they distracted me while their assoc. went to the car I chose, a base model ,and tried to change the sticker price from 13,000 to 15,000. When I objected they changed it back. Then the first thousand or so miles the steering wheel and tires would freezing / lock up while turning while driving incredulously. A few times I almost drove into vehicles or caused major accidents. Consumer assistance was no help at all. They refused to fix the problem saying they could not duplicate the issue. So I contacted dvohs to file a formal complaint. Then the vehicle wouldnt start at all many times, I had to call for jumps and tows sometimes in freezing weather. At ten thousand miles the clutch failed and had to be completely replaced. Now at 46,000 miles the car needs to be pushed down the hill just to get it to drive. Kia consumer hassle stated that the promises of bumper to bumper warranty does not exist. We are sorry they misled you that way. The warranty only covers the powertrain. The promise of free tires for the lifetime of the vehicle a total lie. They stated they are not obligated to honor any promises made by their representatives. The repairs at 46,000 miles which will be my total financial responsibility. They denied ever receiving previous calls at consumer assistance which is appalling. The dealership Columbus Ga hung up the phone in my face when I described my situation and refused to answer any more of my calls or voicemails. Kia refuses to honor their PROMISES TO customers and blatantly admit their claims of 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty is a complete lie. Never buy Kia. If you have one trade it in for something else or you will be hung out to dry. The attorney general, Better Business Bureau, and consumer affairs have abandoned the Kia consumers. I will be saddled with bills I never expected for a car that is obviously a lemon and will never ever function properly. I spent my entire savings paying for this car. Now I have no money and soon at 46,000 miles no car or money to fix the car. There is no justice for KIA Soul owners either.

This is the first brand new car I ever bought. I bought it because I was sick of always having to fix my used car. I wrongly assumed I would not have this problem with a new car. I bought it in October. The acceleration sticks on gear change, but I didnt want to spend my life in the shop (again) so I deal with it. When summer hit, I found out the AC didnt work. I scheduled a service time. The guy on the phone was a bit rude but I chalked it up to him probably having a bad day. They dye the AC and tell me to come back in a week. Its still blowing cold, but I bring it back as requested. They cannot find the issue, so they send me on my way. Two weeks later, its blowing hot air again. I have to go back. This time they tell me the hose is broken and replace it. It took them 3 days to replace a single hose. While I am grateful I received a car to drive in the meantime, it was the most disgusting pile of garbage I had ever had the displeasure of driving. Whoever had previously owned this vehicle did not in any way take care of it. After day 3 of calling and waiting for the car to be fixed, I drove over to the dealership after work and vowed to wait until they took care of it, regardless how long it took. I walked in and they asked if I was there to pick up my car. They never bothered to call me.Today I had a flat tire. No spare in the trunk, which I had foolishly thought would be standard for every vehicle. I called the dealership and was told to call roadside assistance, which was free. Okay, fair enough, but if the tire cant be fixed, I cant afford to buy a new one right now, so I dont know if thats a good idea. I was blown off (same guy as earlier, still rude so obviously not just a bad day thing) and told to just call roadside assistance and go from there. I was also told that tires were not covered under the warranty, which was the only question he bothered to answer. Of course they arent. In all, because I did not have a spare tire, it took me 6 hours and a total loss of days wages to get a flat tire fixed, and surprise! Its covered under warranty. So not only was the guy rude, but he lied to me too. I have become more acquainted with the service staff at Kia in the last 9 months than I was with my mechanic in the last two years of my used car. I bought a new car to avoid that.I am very dissatisfied with Kia and their customer service. I requested a manager when I got there, to discuss the issue of the rude representative, and he never once showed his face in the time I was waiting for my car to be fixed. Because of that, I came here to post a public review instead of keeping the issue between me and the manager.

I am a little perplexed with your judgement call Kia... I own a 2014 Kia Sorento that’s as apart of your engine recall. The car “passed” the tests ran on it to determine if a new engine was needed, only to have the engine completely cease going 50mph on a major highway in Virginia. I received a call today about an open recall on a fuel pump issue potentially causing fire. While I was aware of this situation due to the national news the issue has received I was not prepared for the supposed resolution to this issue... I was told that I needed to bring the vehicle in for inspection to determine “if they” thought the fuel pump needed to be replaced...So, let me get this straight you want me to yet again trust people that told me my engine was completely fine when it wasn’t to now tell me I don’t need a new fuel pump but potentially catch fire??? Something is seriously wrong with this situation! The fact that you are willing to put peoples safety at jeopardy is disheartening... I have zero trust that if I am told the fuel pump doesn’t need to be replaced that I am safe. You need a better resolution and you need one fast...

KIA makes a good car, but your experience with them as a company will be TERRIBLE. KIA delayed (by several months) applying the payoff amount to my old Sorento I sold to them, after I purchased a new one. This ruined my credit because KIA falsely claimed I did not turn in the car and never paid the last payment. This was all lies that they sent to the credit reporting agency. Customer service only transferred me to collections -on a car KIA purchased from me months ago. No one cared to listen or help. I resorted to a consumer lawyer and will hopefully get this resolved. After I involved a lawyer, I started getting letters from KIA in the mail stating I owed money from leased KIAs I had years and years ago. I will never buy from KIA ever again. They will take your money and keep taking, and when they do not apply it to your account, they turn you in to collections.

Not only did they promise to return my call with information more than twice, which they failed to do, when I did continue calling and eventually speak with employees they gave contradictory information, were on the defense and condescending. One of the employee even mentioning a situation from 2 days after I purchased the car when he was very rude to me regarding a surprise flat tire one morning on my brand new car and the road side assistance policy that I got when I acquired the vehicle. I have taken great care of my vehicle and have made all my payments on if not before they were due, but from the moment I purchased the vehicle to now, I have hated having to call the dealership regarding anything due to the poor customer service. Went to bring it in for a simple camera replacement that would be covered under the 5 year/60k warranty, only to find out that the warranty started back in 2011 when the car was placed on the lot. So by the time I purchased the car, there were only 2 years left of the warranty unbeknownst to me (even though they sold me the car as new --certainly not a demo). Conveniently no one is able to resolve this issue -- hitting a wall with kiaconsumeraffairs, and the dealership is just not helpful altogether. This is my second Kia, and will now be my last. A lot of headache over a quick repair. Curious if all dealerships do this to lessen the chance of someone making a claim under the warranties -- have them all start prior to the car being sold.

KIA has stated that everything refers back to the Owners Manual for everything. However when you buy a vehicle brand new an individual is not given a copy of the owners manual to read prior to buying the vehicle. In trying to get my blown motor covered by the warranty, I have found out that if you do your own oil changes a person is supposed to keep all of their receipts and put them in the manual. Not all people are of the personality to keep all receipts so this is not an excuse for them to deny the coverage of the warranty. I took the vehicle into the dealership because it had a problem in Feb. and they said it was low on oil at that time and that was the problem. Only a vehicle with 28K miles should not be low on oil when the last oil change happened at 24,830. Now at 33K the engine is blown and KIA is refusing to honor the warranty because they are saying it was a lack of maintenance.

In August 2010, I bought a Sorento and a Cadenza, the former was for my wife. On July 3, my wife got involved in a car accident and the insurance company of the other driver is paying up for the damages (he was at fault). I drove the car to the Kia official garage in Salwa on the same day (after completing all formalities). The car suffered damage to both doors on the right and all side airbags opened, plus the drivers seat belt damaged. Well, it is September 13th and the car is still at the garage. Every time I call, they are still ordering parts. Either they are lying or they are totally incompetent. I talked to the manager yesterday. He was very apologetic and said he will call the repair center and come back to me immediately. I am still waiting. The car has clicked 9000km and should have been replaced as it is brand new. I am now planning to get rid of both cars and buy something different (the cars are good but the service is shameful).

My passenger side air bag light went on and I was told that I would need a new bottom part of a seat which would cost me $1.542.00. I feel that this is a safety issue that KIA motors should cover. I bought this brand new 2008 KIA Spectra. I call KIA Motors about this and the man that I talked to was not a helpful person at all and said it would take two days to see if they could help. Well, they called me within a few hours and stated they would not help me out. 3 yrs old and the car has this kind of issue.

Very disappointed with the KIA product. As a owner of a 2013 Kia Sorento w/ 32000 miles, I am now stuck with a 2013 goat shelter due to blown engine. KIA has failed to stand by warranty even though maintenance was done, but not by them. Just pushing blame onto service center where oil was changed. Engine blew with no warning -- no lights, no bells, no whistles -- just died on the side of road. Dealer says if they are responsible for anything it would be a blown light bulb in the check engine or low oil warning. Vehicle had traveled 2000 miles after oil change with no problem, so I find very hard to believe the service center failed to put in oil. Cost $110.00 to find out they were not going to cover under warranty. Initially bought vehicle due to warranty. Vehicle was misrepresented since I purchased. Gas mileage was misrepresented, equipment promised was misrepresented. Really feel like KIA Motors has given me the shaft. KIA MOTORS AMERICA = KMA = KISS MY **!!! I guess this is really what they are telling me.

I took my car to KIA Shop for repairs after an accident in mid Jan 2019. I was promised it would come out as good as new but sadly it came out looking awful. I took it back and they demanded extra money if I want any more work done. I contacted their headquarters and after a series of back and forth, they said they would do the repairs. Initial agreement involved changing of bumper which they refused to do until I pressed. I had to call them up on Facebook before I was told that the repairs will be done. We are now in Mid-March and the car is still with them. The most annoying thing is they dont even call to give status update. I have to be the one to do the calling. I have been using UBER since the car was with them and spending extra-budgetary. I have resolved that whatever happens, I will NEVER use KIA services again and I will go out of my way to ensure that nobody I know uses KIA services for any reason.

I purchased a 2017 Kia Sedona from a Kia dealer in Queens, NY in 2017 with 50 miles. The car is perfect for my family of six as it is roomy and the LX model offered enough accommodations which made it easy to travel with five children. I was very happy with my vehicle and Kia until recently. I had an engine malfunction while driving on a highway with a relative and my children. It was New Years Eve 12/31/20, and I decided to take my sister and children shopping at a store that was about ten miles away. We live in the Suburbs which can get rural in some areas and in order to get to this one store, in particular, I had to take a highway to travel there. When I initially started the car I heard a rattling sound which I thought was due to the cold weather, however, as I drove off and drove further and approached the highway the car started to decelerate. After the car decelerated the car cut off while I was driving. In a panic, I started the car again and pulled over to the side. I had to repeat turning the car on, the car shutting off and decelerating, turning the car on, and drive ten miles to return back home. The very next day 1/1/2021 I had the car towed to the dealership that handled my lease buyout. The service manager was nice exhibited professionalism and willing to offer exceptional services to ensure that my car was repaired and that I understood the repair process. He informed of charges that would be incurred if the warranty was not covered by Kia. So everything at the dealer was done with professionalism and courtesy. The problem that I experienced with Kia was and is that they are not honoring the warranty. The Service Manager indicated that receipts were required to document oil changes performed on the 2017 Kia Sedona to ensure that maintenance was performed routinely. I provided receipts that were kept from service performed from Kia dealerships, however, was unable to produce enough receipts for Kia to honor the warranty. I contacted the Kia Customer Service which represents corporate, the customer services representatives I spoke with exhibited professionalism and advised me to try to get receipts of purchases of oil for any oil changes done outside of a service shop. However, I am unable to. So here I am one and a half months without a car, I am renting a car while paying my monthly finance bill, and I believe Kia will not honor my warranty because of lack of receipts of oil changes.I also find it ironic that I had the car serviced in November 2020 at a Kia dealership and they are not honoring the repairs. I hope that this issue is not an issue with the Sedona as I had around 65,000 miles on the car at the time the engine malfunctioned. I did check another website United States Department of Transportation Traffic Safety Administration where recently a consumer reported the same issue. I pray that this is not the beginning of an issue like Kia experienced with the Kia class engine failure class-action lawsuit in 2019. Although I love the Kia Sedona I probably will not purchase another Kia if the company does not offer reasonable solutions for this matter.

I brought my daughters ‘14 Sorento to Kia Coral Springs 5/30 for regular service as well as an evaluation of a serious situation relative to the paint peeling off several areas of the car not affected by road stones or anything other than a factory defect. I brought it first to a paint and body shop and was told in 2 minutes to bring it to Kia consumer affairs. It was in his expert opinion, clearly a factory defect issue. There were photos taken at the dealership and passed on to the local Kia representative responsible for evaluating any type of bodywork. I just heard from Kia corporate consumer affairs and because the warranty expired, regardless what caused the problem, it’s the owners responsibility. I have a friend who had the exact same situation last year with a Nissan product...also expired warranty and also a factory defect causing the paint to peel. They repainted the car and now have a loyal Nissan customer for life.As a result, I will have her car painted and promptly trade it in for anything other than another Kia product. I will share this story of a very short-sighted company with anyone contemplating the purchase of a Kia in the future. The reverse would have been true if this company was more open minded and interested in promoting goodwill. Their fault, but easy way out was turn a blind eye to what’s right and hide behind “their” warranty protection. Kia, one and done!

I rate Petes Car Smart and KIA a negative star. If zero star means bad, then negative stars for both of them. But if you are asking 5 stars or more is bad, then lets say 6 stars. I dont get answers from the service manager besides their nothing wrong with your car. Yes, we can see it used oil but there is nothing wrong with it. The only time they talked to me was when I was there because once I left, they never returned my call or even tried to explain anything to me. So I would say KIA and Petes are a joke or KIA should get sue for false ads which they say they have the best warranty. I could say the same if I never had to warrant anything. My 2007 KIA Sportage that I got brand new had around 46000 miles when I started to notice it using oil. Its using half a quart every 3000 miles under normal driving conditions. I shouldnt have to change it until 7000 miles. So if it using half a quart every 3000 miles, one could say it will use 1 quart every 7000 miles. Petes and/or Kia did an oil test to see if it uses oil, but they will or have not want to do it at 7000 miles. Last time I went in there to get it checked at the 3000, they topped it off and said they would call me. But I have not gotten a call from them. I told them I wish they had not top it off because I wanted to bring it back at 7000 miles and see how much oil it had use. HQ is a joke also, I have played phone tag with a lady in Atlanta and her reason for not calling me is because of my cell number (which is a KY number) and they thought I was in her time zone. I left message for her to call me at 8, her time, which would be 7AM my time so I could talk with her. For weeks, no reply. They would call during my work day. After weeks of leaving messages and trying to get that same person, I got a direct number for her. But after talking to her, she too is telling me theres nothing wrong with my SUV. Its normal for a car to use oil (yes, if it had lots of miles and never got regular oil changes). She did tell me that KIA would be more than happy to service my SUV, but I would have to pay for it. If they did find something, they would be more than happy to cover it under the warranty. Like they are going to tell me the truth. I have told my boss and all my friends not to buy any KIA vehicles at all. I have told all my friends not to purchase any KIA or cars from Petes Car Smart in Amarillo, TX and now I wish someone had done the same for me. If anyone has had the same problems with their KIA, I would like to know about and what you have done. I dont care what car you had as long as it is a KIA.

Worst company ever! I will never buy a Kia again!! Car was losing oil so I took it to the dealership twice. The second time the determination was that it needed a new engine because there was sludge in the engine. Kias corporate office refused to cover this repair because I couldnt produce enough receipts (they have 5 and wanted 7). The last offer was for them to cover half of the expenses for engine replacement, about $3500 for my half. We declined the offer and are seeking legal counsel. This has to be the worst example of customer service I have ever experienced. There has been a lot of finger-pointing and no one wants to take any responsibility. After reviewing other peoples complaints I noticed that that seems to be a common denominator in all of the complaints, that Kia refuses to stand behind their product and guarantee their warranty. What a horrible experience and a terrible company. I think its about time for a class-action lawsuit. It certainly seems like there are a lot of other people affected like this.

After my 2016 Sorento stopped shifting out of park. It was towed 3 hrs to the closest dealership. I was told there was a rental vehicle reserved and covered in a neighboring town. After leaving work and getting a ride to pick it up I was called the next morning being told there was a mistake and the car had to be returned that afternoon or else I would be charged. I once again left work early to race up and get it returned before closing. The next day I was told that there were gas charges to paid on my end. To which I explained that I would have never picked up the car that was in my position for less then 24hr and was only driven from budget to my house and back if I wasn’t told to! After calling Kia Canada to see what could be done I finally received a call back 3 days later with a “sorry but there nothing we can do”. A week goes by and my car is now worse then it was with a secondary part now backorder. They say I can get another rental. But they will only pay for a tiny hatchback this time. This was after hours on hold, speaking to different agents who kept passing me back to Elliot the first agent I dealt with, who kept not returning my phone calls again!!! He then told me my remote living and size of family does not matter to him, Kia offers to help but do not have to do anything for me. I was laughed at when I said I was upset and asked to have my call return ASAP. Worse customer service ever!!! Although I have enjoyed my car up until this point it is not worth the dealing with such a horrible company. I am getting rid of my car immediately and I would never recommend to anyone to buy a Kia.

Bought my 2015 Kia Sorento in March of 2017 and have had problems with it pretty much right away. Started with my key fob. The driver door does not recognize my key fob and I have to either open the passenger door to unlock my car or hit the fob multiple times before the drivers door opens. Ive replaced the batteries and it hasnt helped. My alternator dies at 66K miles, which I thought was ridiculous. I called Kia to see if they would grant any good will since I was out of warranty and they did nothing. Claimed they couldnt help since I was the 2nd owner. In my opinion, it shouldnt matter if Im the 2nd or 5th owner. The car only had 66k miles on it and the car was bought from a Kia Dealership in Buford, GA. From a dealership, it wasnt a private sale. No reason other than Kia is garbage that an alternator should die at 66k miles. And now, my window doesnt work. I rolled down the passenger side window this morning and it wont go back up. Im bringing it somewhere to get it looked at, not Kia. It looks like the motor is no good. Of course it is, its a Kia. Well, Ive learned my lesson with Kia cars and hope you will learn from this review. DO NOT BUY KIA!

I own a 2012 Kia Soul and as Ive read previously in a Sorento post, my engine also went out. Luckily, I was able to pull over from the fast lane to the side of the road. Kia has had my car for 3 weeks. The dealership and I have called headquarters multiple times with no response from my case manager. No one has provided me with a rental car. I have to pay for a rental out of my own pocket. 2006.5 Kia Optima EX - This is the worst car ever. I purchased it new and have had trouble ever since. First, the headlamps bulb on low burned out. The dealer rep said it was the alternator. A new one was put on and still the same problem. New headlamps were installed and still had the same problem. Lighting for nothing - I cant see driving after night on low beam. The starter went out. The factory alignment was bad and the dealer could not fix it; I had to pay to get an aftermarket cam for it and a front end alignment. The switch went bad on the 6-way power seat; the brakes wore out too soon for normal driving. Two sets of tires worn out due to not being in line when the dealer said there was nothing wrong with it. And the straw that broke the camel’s back: it is not worth anything, not even to a dealer. So having said all this, I would tell everyone to stay away from Kia. It’s a good looking car but a pile of junk.

In December 2014, I was seriously injured (including a broken back...) in a 2015 KIA SORENTO during a frontal crash because the car malfunctioned. Upon impact, none of the airbags deployed and duly filed my complaint with NHTSA. After my complaint, there were 3 others filed with the most recent being March 2016 where another person got injured because the airbag DID NOT DEPLOY. Even though the IIHS (Insurance Institute of Highway Safety) identified this problem as well as potential injuries to the driver during its SMALL OVERLAY CRASH TEST - THE MANUFACTURER (KIA) still FAILED to conduct necessary defect investigation and recall on all existing 2014/2015 KIA Sorento models that have this defect which creates and heightens the risk of potential dangerous injuries because few consumers are aware of this as NHTSA gives the 2015 KIA SORENTO a five-star rating on a test that was conducted in 2013 because both the 2014 and 2015 models were in fact, almost identical WITH minimal changes.Due to the IIHS crash test results and POOR rating the 2014/2015 KIA SORENTO models the manufacturer received, it went to address these problems by redesigning the 2016 Sorento without notifying or identifying or repairing the defects in those defective vehicles currently out in the market. IT IS ALSO EXTREMELY NEGLIGENT AND IRRESPONSIBLE OF NHTSA TO POST AN ERRONEOUS 5-STAR RATING ON A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS VEHICLE.

Kia brand vehicle has to many mechanical issues, especially if the car is used. Those made before 2017 all have the same issues, and are NOT recommended as a good car in Consumer Report magazine. The 2 wheel drive models are too loose on the road and difficult to control. I actually had to change the way I drove since I always had a 4 wheel drive previously to my Kia purchase. The car is light despite its size and in a strong wind will move across the road so you have to fight to keep control or weigh down the back of the vehicle with sand or Kitty Liter in the back trunk.

I just want to start by saying that I am a very friendly person and I always have a smile on my face, but I am not happy with Kia right now. I own a 2012 Kia Sorento. It is my familys only vehicle. We are a family of four. On Friday, August 5th, my family was driving from our home in California to visit my mother in law for her bday at her home in Nevada. Two miles from the Nevada state line our Kia just stopped in the middle of the 15 Freeway and luckily my husband was able to swerve it on the shoulder of the freeway. We waited for nearly 2 hours for a tow to Henderson Kia (in Nevada). It was over 100 degrees that day. The tow was taking longer than expected so we were forced to leave the keys to the Kia on the floor mat and leave the vehicle for the tow company and find a way to get to my mother in laws home. Once the Kia finally arrived at Kia Henderson we were told that the service department could not even look at it until Monday morning, August 8th. I had requested a rental and was declined. This was a necessity as we had no transportation while in Nevada and no way to drive the 300+ miles back to CA so that we could work on Tuesday, Aug. 10th and get our daughters to their first day of school. We paid over $400 in car rental costs for 4 days use of a vehicle. Henderson Kia notified us on Monday, Aug, 9th that our engine needed to be replaced. We were shocked. 72,000 and a perfect maint. records. All of which we supplied to Henderson Kia. Due to this we were approved for a new engine. On Wednesday, Aug. 11th, I again requested Kia provide a rental vehicle. Henderson Kia told me to call Kia Consumer Affairs and Kia Consumer Affairs told me to take it up with Kia Henderson. Finally, a rental was approved and I triple verified that I would have the rental during the duration of the repairs and could use it to drive the 300+ miles back to Nevada when my vehicle was ready. Fast forward to today. My vehicle is ready and Henderson Kia is stating that my rental vehicle is only valid until today, September 1st. I am beyond livid. Especially since the contract between Henderson Kia and Enterprise Rental Cars states that my rental is valid until Septemeber 30th. Does Kia really think my family can just leave work and school and drive back to Nevada from California - on Labor Day weekend no less? I have already given Henderson Kia my arrival date in Nevada of Friday, September 9th. My engine is under warranty. This is a Kia flaw not any damage my family has inflicted on the engine. Henderson Kia is expecting me to return my rental vehicle to my local Enterprise today. If I do that, how will I get home? How will my children get home from school? How will I pick my husband up from work? and most importantly, how will we be able to drive back to Nevada to pick up our Sorento? It floors me all of this back and forth with Henderson Kia and Kia Consumer Affairs. I have saved all of my 20 plus emails with Henderson Kia. As of this moment, my family is still in limbo and Henderson Kia is saying that it is only Kia Consumer Affairs that can extend a rental car and Kia Consumer saying it is only the individual dealership. Please help. Thank you for listening.

I bought the used Kia in Pietermaritzburg branch and a few days after purchasing it the car got stuck with me. All the gears didnt want to go in. The clutch pedal was normal but the gear itself was just stiff. I had to park on the side of the road and called for assistance. When their technical arrived the car was back to normal and he assumed the rubber mat was stuck under the clutch. I then drove off feeling a little embarrassed. Three days down the line driving around turn on my lunch break same thing happened and I parked on the side of the road, switched off the engine and waited a bit. I started the engine and the gears were back to normal. The following day driving a friend to airport I got stuck on heavy traffic wherein a truck had broken down on N3 to Durban. I tried to get myself a safer spot and parked the car for like 5 minutes and started the engine. Again it was ok. The following day I informed the sales manager at KIA who said I must drive with their technical to see if the car will have that problem. I informed her that the car does that especially when I am driving in traffic. So we drove off with the technician and the car was ok. We returned back and I was asked to bring in the car so they could do a diagnostic check. I brought it back the following day and the result that they told me was that the car did not show any problems on their computer. The implication of that was that they cannot help me if they cannot pick up the problem.I held a meeting with the owner of the branch and he told me same story. I was angry and confused not knowing what I need to do in this case. So I am currently stuck with a vehicle which is like new because it had 1500km when I bought it, but I am unhappy. I got stuck recently in the morning on my way to work, and every time it happens I have to park on the side and let it cool down I would say. It is very frustrating and even more frustrating to know that the company says they cannot assist with this problem.

I brought my 2009 Kia to the dealership for a free upgrade on the covers for the back of the rear seats. And they also completed a free ECM upgrade according to Kias recommendations, without consulting me before doing so because Kia states that they have the right to do any and all upgrades without asking the owner of the vehicle while the vehicle is on their property and being serviced. I wouldnt have stopped them before or after, why should I, any free upgrade for my vehicle is great... but about a week or so later, my transmission started jerking when the automatic transmission downshifted from 2nd gear to 1st gear. I brought it back to the dealer and they said that since there were no warning lights or codes for the problem, they didnt know what to do. So they waited for info from their tech line. Time went by so I made an appointment for them to check my transmission fluid level again. Being it’s a sealed transmission, I am not qualified to check it and according to Kia Corporation, this transmission fluid in the V-8 is Lifetime, no regular changing is needed. The fluid costs around $80 a quart!!!!! Really???I brought my Kia Borrego to the dealer for the appt to check the transmission fluid level and the service manager said that they couldnt check the level until I prepaid for a couple of quarts of fluid due to the high price of it per quart and also that they didnt have any at the dealership and would have to special order it and receive the fluid before they checked the transmission fluid level. Im fuming! So, I politely with a smile showed the service manager their maintenance service checklist that they performed on my vehicle when they did the ECM upgrade. On it, it says that they checked all fluid levels and checked my transmission fluid level and it was signed. The service manager quickly declined saying they couldnt check it and didnt check it. So they were falsifying documents by saying that they did but now they dont. A few days later I made an appointment to talk to the Owner of the dealership. And after a bunch of defying belief of my issue, he supposedly bypassed the service manager and asked the mechanic directly if he checked the fluid and the answer was yes. Hmm, as for the hard jerking of the transmission, the Owner says that that is normal, most Kia vehicles downshift hard. He said that his Kia downshifts hard!! Its getting deeper. So I brought my Kia to a different dealership in a different city and their solution, remove the transmission and a used transmission was installed due to my extended warranty outside of Kia. A few months later, the hard downshifting starts again, mostly when the motor is cold, not from the weather, just after setting for a while. I brought it back to that dealership and they reset it back to its norm and made it worse. Now it’s doing the hard jerking all the time at the 2 to 1 downshift. From the get go, I told both dealerships and warranty people my thoughts and I blamed it on the ECM upgrade. Why would two transmissions give me that same problem?? My original transmission had around 90,000 miles. The used one had 30,000 miles. Ive put over 4,000 miles on the used one. Im waiting on answers from the second dealership on how they plan to correct this problem again. Im tired of all of this. I want my vehicle repaired correctly. I have an extended warranty up to 100,000 miles and a 1 year warranty on the used transmission that is in the Kia Borrego now. Any ideas or help will be greatly appreciated.

My 2011 Kia Sorento has been a disaster since day 1. I have replaced every door on my Kia Sorento, and now my engine has failed. Now I am no mechanic but I’m pretty sure a lack of oil is more likely to be an engine problem rather than a lack of care issue especially when the oil was checked by a car garage 8 weeks earlier before its MOT. Kia’s cars and warranty are a scam. Do not buy Kia. Google Kia Engine problems and you will see why.

I purchased my 3rd Kia in Sept 2021. A 2022 Stinger GT. I found out on Friday, 12/31/21 that the transmission needs to be replaced. (Less than 8k miles). My appt was at 11am and they were closing at 4pm that day. By 3pm, when I had still not heard anything from my Service Advisor, I went back up to the dealership. The car wasnt currently being looked at or worked on, and yet no one had bothered to call and deliver the awful news. Nor did they even attempt to call the Tech Line and get authorization for a rental car. This was on a Friday, so I was without my car over the weekend. I called my Service Advisor back on Monday morning at 9:30 am (knowing he wouldnt be reaching out to me first). I was then told that the tech line doesnt open until 11am our time and they will have to authorize a rental car. But Hertz may not have anything available. I will NEVER purchase another Kia, that is for sure.

I bought my 2009 Kia Rio in April, 2010. On Oct. 30, 2011, my car would not start when I came out of a store. There was a large, yellow sticker inside the door that reads For assistance, call. I called that number and it just rang. I did not see the transparent sticker in the window. Oct. 31, I dropped my keys at the dealership (Harris Kia in Lansdale, PA) hoping they could look at the car. I called the dealer at 8:30AM, they informed me that I had to call roadside assistance or pay for the tow. I called roadside assistance. They informed me that I needed the VIN number to verify service or pay for the tow. I left work on my lunch break and got the documentation out of my car. At about 11:30AM, I called roadside assistance again and set up an appointment for 4:00PM to meet the truck.By 4:30, there was no truck. The response I got from the local company, Mike Carrs Towing, was that there had been an accident call and the driver was stuck in traffic. We agreed that I would leave the keys under the drivers side floor mat. I had to leave as my ride was also having car trouble. At 5:10, I called the local company again. The receptionist gave me the same answer she had the first time. The car was picked up finally at about 5:50PM. The dealership checked my car and found that the battery was dead. I have owned the car for a year and a half and I am stuck for the entire amount. $185 + tax, $40 for checking the old battery and $40 for putting in the new one. How long does it take to put in a battery? Surely not a half hour.I am less than a happy customer. The amount of action I had to take and the sheer inconvenience are outrageous. Id hate to imagine getting stranded in my Rio and having to depend on the roadside assistance. I wonder if my warranty is worth the paper it is printed on. I had to leave 3 classes during work to deal with all of this nonsense.

I signed a contract and paid $3000 cash (debit card) down on a 39-month lease for a 2012 KIA Sorrento for a monthly lease price of $299.95 per month. Contract signed 12/28. Scheduled to pick car up next day, 12/29. On 12/29 late morning, they inform me that the price of the car has changed to increase another $27 per month to a $327 monthly payment. Their reason was they could not get finance company to bump me to the tier we needed. I had a contract signed and a handshake at $299.95 per month, then they change their mind the next day and add $27 to the deal. I want them to honor the contract we signed. They now want to cancel the contract because I won’t agree to the new price.

I have a leased Kia Soul with just over 10K miles. Oil changed and not even darkened. Was driving to pick my son up in WVa. From home, a 6 hour ride. Picked him up, stopped, got a bite to eat and headed back to NC. Drove an additional 2 hours. Engine just stopped. Left my son and I stranded in middle of nowhere in WVa. Car was towed to dealer in Charleston where I have been told I must have struck something in the rode. Busted radiator! I never hit a damn thing not even a pot hole! Had to get a rental to get back to NC. I have no eyes on the damage. Asked for pix and have received none to date. Does the term rip off mean anything? The first service manager stated they saw no damage of anything being struck... Now the second one says yes! This is crap! Now my insurance says they may not pay to have the motor repaired/replaced. So I may have a car that Im paying a monthly rental fee on that doesnt run! What happens when the rental agreement expires?

Kia Stingers have faulty brake rotors, this is a known issue and a quick Google search for stinger rotor problems will confirm this statement. My rotors have been pulsating since about week one of ownership. Kia will not resurface or replace the rotors that I have have been fighting to have fixed for about 9 months now because I have since installed aftermarket wheels and tires. What a joke, any excuse they can use to get out of covering their faulty products. Will not be buying another Kia, ever.

Kia does NOT stand behind their 100,000 mile warranty at all. Bought 2006 Sedona new. Within 12k miles, both left and right turn signal lights going out all the time. Head lights burn out every other month. Front rotors and brakes need replaced, 12k and again and again. Bolts came up missing on sider door. Thermostat caused the check engine light to come on. NONE OF these item were covered! AC compressor went out twice, was fixed under warranty. At 60k, the Air bag light came on. Again not under warranty, 1500.00 to fix that. More headlights and turn signals all throughout the ownership of this Van. Rotors and brakes again. Blend door for AC and heat making a clicking sound in the dash. Valve covers leaking. Rattle and clunks in the front end now. Intermediate No start, No Crank, battery is good. All electrical items work with no crank no start. Found out this is a Junction box where all the wiring connect to along with the engine disable and key fob. Now the key fobs have to be reprogrammed at the dealer and they want anywhere from 52 to 80 dollars for that? This has to be one of the worst designed and most UNRELIABLE Brands on the road today.

My 2012 SX was a problem from the start. I brought it in a couple of months
My 2012 SX was a problem from the start. I brought it in a couple of months after I owned it for detonation noise/turbo rattle (sounds like marbles in a can) in the engine. Kia told me it was normal, and ignored it. Then, about 2 months later, the engine blew the spark plugs apart, and I lost almost all power. I limped it back to the dealership on what seemed like it was driving on 2 cylinders. Kia only replaced the spark plugs, even though they looked like they were melted - obvious detonation damage. Kia refused to do any other diagnostics, because, It runs fine now with new spark plugs. Not long after that, after hooking my small camper up (1,155 lbs), the engine completely failed while on the freeway. It blew a hole in one of the cylinders, and melted all of the spark plugs. Kia then claimed my camper was too heavy and refused the warranty, even though the vehicle is rated to tow 2,000 lbs. I hired an attorney, and it has been almost a year, and the state of Michigan had to step in to get them to come to the table! Its now the end of April, 2013, and my car has been dead since July of 2012. Do not buy a Kia!

In 2010, I brought a new Kia Forte koup. I love my car. I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM OUT OF THAT CAR. But I broke my back and could not do the low cars getting in and out of them. So I went to Kia and traded on 11-2-13 for a 2014 Kia Sorento. Well, things went down hill. 1st week, had to go back and they had to do a 4 wheel alignment. Then the door handle fell apart. Went back, had that put on, then it fell apart again. The back doors had a gap in them were you could put half your hand in them. Well, after going back every Saturday for 6 weeks, GM had me come in to change car out. But every 2014 Sorento on the lot had same problems. Then I traded for a 2013 Kia Soul. Up till now, no problem till yesterday. When am going down road and a piece of my car comes off and almost hit 2 other cars. So I have had to send this morning at the dealer again. If it was not for service lady where I go, I would have already went crazy on people. I WILL NEVER EVER BUY OTHER KIA AGAIN WHEN I TRADE THIS ONE IN!!!!!! !

My car died on the side of the road and I called Kia Roadside Assistance. After speaking with an associate I was advised a tow truck would be out in 90- minutes. After 90- minutes passed I called to get an update and after being place on hold so they can call the tow truck operator the Kia associate advised me they were running behind and are 30- minutes away. This exact scenario went on over and over for 6- hours until finally I had enough and took a cab home. The next morning I called Kia Roadside assistance again and advised the new associate of what happened and they set a tow up and guess what, I was advised of the same scenario and again nobody came after lie upon lie upon lie. The service for Kia is non-existent so keep that in mind BEFORE you consider purchasing your or leasing a Kia.
