Kia Automobile Model 2025 Kia Niro Hybrid
2025 Kia Niro Hybrid
The Niro Hybrid pairs a 1.6 L naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine with an electric motor and a six-speed automatic transmission. This setup produces around 139 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. Acceleration is smooth and economical rather than sporty.
Fuel Efficiency
EPA expects approximately 53 mpg combined—with estimates around 45 mpg city and 54 mpg highway. In the Canadian metric system, that translates to about 4.4 L/100 km combined, with 4.5 city and 4.4 highway figures. Real-world owners often report fuel economy between 50–60 mpg, though efficiency can dip to around 40 mpg in cold weather—especially when cabin heaters are used frequently.
Trim Levels & Pricing
The Niro Hybrid comes in five trims: LX, EX, EX Touring, SX, and SX Touring. Starting MSRPs range from roughly US $26,990 for the LX to about US $35,390 for the SX Touring. The EX trim is most popular, priced near US $29,790.
Interior and Practicality
This compact crossover seats five comfortably. Cargo capacity is approximately 22.8 cubic feet behind the rear seats, expanding to around 63–64 cu ft with the rear row folded. The cabin is thoughtfully designed, offering drivers ample visibility and a smooth ride. The cargo area is practical for daily errands or weekend outings.
Features and Technology
Standard across trims are modern infotainment systems, including touchscreen displays, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and a strong suite of driver assistance features. Higher trims add perks like premium audio, heated and ventilated seats, and advanced safety aids.
User Feedback Highlights
Owners love the excellent fuel efficiency in real-world use, especially with eco-conscious driving habits and use of regenerative braking.
Efficiency dips in cold climates are common—some report steady winter economy around 45 mpg.
Operating in cold temperatures or during short trips notably reduces mileage due to heater use.
The Niro Hybrid's quiet and comfortable ride earns praise, though some criticize the climate control interface as finicky and note interior material quality varies slightly by trim.
Summary
The 2025 Kia Niro Hybrid shines as a value-centric compact SUV that balances fuel economy, comfort, and everyday usability. If your priorities include reliability, low operating costs, and a practical hybrid solution, the Niro Hybrid is a compelling pick. Ideal for city driving and commuter use—especially if you drive in moderate climates or adopt smooth driving habits.

My wife and I bought a used 2012 Kia Sorento in Sept. 2015 with a 2.4 liter and a GDI engine. Well this past sunday Oct. 2nd 2016 the Sorento was making loud metal noises in the engine and while driving it stalled. I pulled over and sat for a little while and started it up again and drove it to my inlaws. The next day oct. 3rd I drove it to Kia Horne here in Gilbert AZ. They looked at it and told me that there is a LOT of slug it the engine and metal noise in the lower part of the engine. They told me that it was able to be fixed and I would have to spend 6900 for a new used engine. The next day I told Kia Horne that I would produce the oil change documents for the past year. I was able to get 4 receipts but not the 5th one even though I knew I had received 5 oil changes within the past year. Well its been a week and my extended 100,000 mile warranty will not cover the repairs also because of the slug. The Sorento is at 85,000 mile at this moment. I found that there is a lawsuit against Kia for producing engine that were manufactured wrong and still sold knowing this. The Claim states that the Theta 2 liter and the 2.4 liter GDI engines contains defects that cause a restriction of oil flow through the connecting rod bearings and other parts of the engine. The claim also states that the defect causes stalling and complete engine failure at any time, including while driving, making the problem a serious safety hazard. The lawsuit claims not only did Kia conceal that the engines are prone to failure, but the automaker concealed the defect from consumers to keep selling the vehicles. The reason why I am leaving this information/review is to see what more can I do to get my car fixed by Kia and or join the lawsuit or start my own in Gilbert AZ.
The paint is so cheap! It started peeling 2 years after it came out & months after I bought it! Also, I had to replace tires right away. I heard these are issues with a Kia. I won’t purchase another one.
I have a 2008 Kia this is the 2nd Time this happened. When you fill up the car, it brakes down and cuts off. It is about $700 bill . Please help.
I have called several times, but I can not wait longer than 30 minutes while at work. I tried the web, but I cant register as the error says my birthday is wrong. As stupid as this may sound, I tried several times to get on auto pay since I had moved several items that when I stopped getting invoices, I assumed I had finally been successful. And as I had a new bank account that I was using for bills, I assumed the payment was coming out of that. I didnt realize I was in arrears until a collector called and threatened me. I paid the arrears and still cant get them on the phone or the web to get auto pay set up. I havent gotten a bill this month. It is a very pathetic customer service. I am just trying to give them money.
Would never purchase another KIA. Customer service is horrible!! I was in a car accident in July. It’s current Nov and I still have no parts available for my Kia Sorento. Finally reached out to KIA customer service. Not sensitive to “valued customers. Spoke with a representative who could care less about how long I have been waiting for parts. She did the very least to so called solve my issue, then went as far as to say, What did I want KIA to do?. Ummm yes I know it’s a pandemic but seriously 5 months for parts. Terrible. At least care for your customers situation caused by a lack there of parts. O and then waited for a supervisor to call back next day and he expressed even more lack of customer service skills and showed he did not care at all. Had I known KIA could not provide parts for their cars, also had customer service as HORRIBLE as this, KIA would not have me as a customer at all! RUN far away!! KIA please train your staff that customer service goes a long way for paying valued customers.
I bought a Kia Forte for my daughter in 2016. She had the car for about 6 months and it was totaled when a hog ran onto the highway during a night that had heavy fog. We had the gap so I wasn’t worried because it was my understanding they pay the car off. I had asked multiple times if this would affect my credit and I was assured it wouldn’t. The car was totaled in March and in September I get a bill for around $1,100. I called and was informed that gap didn’t cover everything so I paid the bill. I go to purchase a car last week only to find that they had put delinquent payments on my credit report until it was completely paid off. That was from May to November they put delinquent payments every month. I called to get this removed because that wasn’t what I was told. Kia absolutely refused to remove it and informed me that in the contract you have 120 days to pay off the car. The gap didn’t even pay their part until June. They clearly don’t care or try to work with people. I will never purchase from them again. The man told me that they never said that and acted like I was the enemy. It was on a recorded line, but it is clear what kind of company they are. Save yourself the trouble. Don’t buy from them. This is the first time that I had ever had to use the gap and if you buy from them and it happens to you they will screw up your credit.
This pass Sunday I was driving on I-75 North to Gainsville to drop off my son for summer camp and the engine made a pull. Then all the sudden a big rattling noise. The car was always serviced by the Orlando KIA West Colonial dealer for Oil changes and for services. My car had clean oil in the pan. This happen on 6/12/2016 and today is 6/19/2016. They need a paper sign from the District manager and I am getting the runaround. I see how it goes... When you step in the show room, they promise you bells and whistles. Then when the time comes up for them to pony up, they drag their feet. This is my last time I will purchase a KIA car or a new car. What is the point... I see that some other people are having similar issues. Think before buying a KIA... Not a happy customer.
Just received first bill will three days notice to pay. I have been on phone over 2 hours and cant get an account set up. Their reply, You have to get another computer (had tried on a computer and my phone) and just keep trying. I then asked for a manager and was begrudgingly forwarded to a manager who kept trying to help and now 2 hours 20 minutes later, still do not have an account and they cant set one up for me (even though they have all my info on their computer system).
I just bought a 2012 Kia Sorento in February. It started giving me problems. It stopped all of a sudden when I stopped in a stop sign and the engine was shut off. Two days ago, I was about to drive to work and when I went to the garage and sat in the van, it started but the gear wouldnt move as it was locked. I called the dealer and they told me to call the tow truck and get it towed to the dealership. They towed the van to the dealer, and the next day the guy from the service department called. This dealer is located in Avalon Blvd in Carson. He told me that both the engine and the computer are full of water like a swimming pool. How? I just took the car to the drive-through car wash a few times since I bought it. They told me that the warranty does not cover and I have to pay $1600 to get it fixed. When we first bought the car they lied to us that anything doesnt matter - big or small issues, the warranty is going to cover - and now they dont want to cover. I will never ever recommend anyone to Kia Carson or any other Kia dealer. It’s a bad experience that I have ever had.
Blown motor at 89,000 miles - Engines started burning oil all of a sudden. Dealer says it needs a new engine for $5k. I cant afford it. This car is driven by a grandma and this should not happen. Many other Kia models and years have similar problems and theyre covered by a recall. Why not mine?
I hate your pornographic commercials. Have you no shame? Do you not know that young children are watching television? Its offensive, degrading to women and just adds to all the other garbage that is on TV. You must be pretty desperate and feel like your product cant sell itself, resorting to such offensive tactics. I will never consider buying a Kia or Hyundai, just the name alone conjures up negativity in my mind!
Kia Lindenhurst NY ripoff artists refuse to return deposit.
The car has had a lot of issues. Ive had to replace a lot of parts on it. The car is cheap. The frame is cheap. The parts are cheap but I dont like a car that breaks all the time. I appreciate it more when my car is more convenient not a car from Korea where the parts have to be specially ordered and waited for. The Kia Spectra 2007 handles well though in spite of its flaws. It is small and practical. I like the 4 doors. I like the fact that the seats are cloth and not leather so I dont get burned every time I sit down after a long hot day of the car just sitting in the sun. But I wish I would have done more research before buying this car.
I took delivery of my 2014 Kia Cadenza on April 28. I noticed a shimmy at certain speeds, contacted my salesman, Matt **, and he made a service appointment for me. I brought the vehicle in and they felt that it was a defective tire. They replaced the defective tire and it did take care of the lower speed shimmy. I called again today to the service department and informed them that I still had the shimmy problems between 40 and 50 mph. I have my second service appt. on Monday to see if the problem can be resolved.
I bought a 2007 Kia Sorento off the showroom floor, and it has been good mechanically. Kia of Vero Beach has been the only one to service the vehicle. The problem is that there is a noise when it shifts gears and it is getting worse. I went to the dealership and asked the service manager, Mr. Danny **, to have them look at it to clear the noise. He informed me I would have to pay for them to analyze the problem, which is clearly under warranty. I refused to do so and the problem still has not been resolved. This is not right, and I will not purchase another Kia or recommend them at any of my functions in Vero - just the opposite.
I had a 2009 Kia Rio. The engine blew in 3 years. Lets start at the beginning. Air conditioner went out and blew smoke instead. Back break disks lost a pin (explained no way anyone but a mechanic could do it.) Without it could have locked which could have killed me on freeway. Had an oil change at Kia and they never put the air filter back in. I drove over 32 hrs without it.Now the worst!! Engine!! Car broke down. Had it towed to Kia. They told me I needed a new engine. It was going to cost me 4,000. It wasnt even close to what it was worth. I called around and finally found a place that had a used one. That had the same miles etc. Only 2,000. I had them install it. Then I had a light bulb. It was still under warranty. Wtf why didnt the dealership tell me that?? So I made them tow it back to their dealership, give me a rental and fix it. Well that was not even close to the end! They took over 2 months to even fix it. Over 1 month to pay me back. Last of it the car still had major issues!! I went to drive it and the odometer wouldnt work, pretty much it was trash! I went to turn it in as a trade and they pretty much made me pay them to take it! I will NEVER NEVER GO TO KIA AGAIN!!! Neither will anyone in my family!!!
My wife was driving down the road and our 2011 Kia Sorento just shut off. She barely made it to the side off the road. When she tried starting it back up the starter fried. We replaced the starter change the oil and air filter along with putting synthetic oil in it. It has always had a whining noise when you drove it and now it has a peck in the motor. Dont know whats going on but cant afford to take it back to the dealership. Does anyone know what the problem could be. Im just disgusting with this car.
It started on Wednesday Sept 3, 2014, my Kia was lacking its get up and go. I called the dealership and told them that my car was running rough and had a hard time starting but no warning lights. They were able to see me the following Monday. According to the diagnostic test nothing was wrong but that the oil was in rough shape. I told them keep looking. After further review they determined that the fuel pump was bad. They replaced it and I picked it up on Wednesday. I only drove about 2 miles and could tell that the car was still not running right. I called the shop when I got home but they were already closed for the day so I called right away Thursday morning. They got me in right away and called me about 4 hours later letting me know that the Turbo was burnt out and that I needed to show proof of oil changes since I purchased the car (2 1/2 years ago!). I am still fighting this, I cant find all my receipts. I may find myself stuck with a car that only has 38K miles and a payment but not a car that can be driven. What kind of company is Kia? Neither the engine or oil light NEVER came on ---EVER! Yet if I dont find evidence of enough satisfactory oil changes (they say 8) then the warranty is void!! This is crazy --- does anyone have any suggestions. Thanks.
I tried to use it for a flat tire after working late. New cars dont have a spare. They were only going to take my car to a location in the county where I work leaving me stuck with no way to get home or to get my car. A coworker said I could still drive home. I decided not to use Kia, drove home, put air in the tire at a gas station the next morning and went to a tire store to get it repaired.
We bought a 2008 Kia Rondo EX 2.4L brand new from the dealership and opted for the Kia Protect 5 Star plan extended warranty. Thankfully this covered repeated visits for struts and front end parts and included the premature timing chain (not belt) replacement at 140K. At 151K the engine throws a rod through the block. All oil changes performed and documented and reviewed and approved by Kia. However the Kia Protect warranty states two items: 1) Repair will be covered up to the wholesale value of the vehicle (originally I was told by Kia my wholesale value was $1500 but after a month Kia Protect reviewed and increased to $3500).2) Warranty repairs may include new or reconditioned Kia parts but also says at the discretion of the administrator .Response from the dealership: I spoke with the extended warranty company this morning and they gave me a max value they will cover, they will cover to a max of $1479.00, and they will only install OEM Kia parts, which means you would have to cover the difference, and new parts and install you’ll be looking upwards of 10,000.00 which would be a large difference to cover. Your other option is a used complete motor assembly that would be approx. 4700.00 plus taxes installed, but they will not cover any of it. Motor will take a few business days to get to us, then we would need a few days for install.I argued with both the dealership and Kia that may include does not mean must include. However Kia Protect will only replace the engine with a new Kia engine and will not consider a used engine. Estimate from Kia Protect (LGM FINANCIAL SERVICES INC.) The estimate is as follows: total estimate $9484.60. Kia protect: $3500 including taxes. Remaining balance to be paid by contract holder: $5984.60. There is a $500 difference in the amount if the head does not have be machined. Escalated issue from Kia Protect from adjuster, supervisor and manager to no avail. Will be looking for a new vehicle from someone more reliable that stands by their product.
In all of my 54 years and multitude of vehicles Ive ever owned or leased, this one, by far, has been my favorite. Its also the first one I have not itched to replace after 2 or so years. It is the most comfortable and easiest to maintain and handle. The body and interior are well crafted and even after almost 6 years of use are still in almost pristine condition. The paint still looks brand new and the leather interiors seams and carpeting are still in great condition. I am not the most vigilant with washing and vacuuming either, but you wouldnt know it by looking at it. I would and do, wholeheartedly recommend the Kia Sorento SX to anyone.
My 2.4 liter engine is part of a recall of over 1.5 Million cars. Well, my VIN number is not on this list!!! My engine blow for exactly what the recall is for... premature bearing wear causes the engine to throw a rod! Kia says its not covered because I am the second owner, the car has 89,000 miles on it and would have been covered if I was the original owner! THATS NOT THE POINT. This engine was recalled for this problem. End of story! But, NO mine is a Hybrid and they arent a MODEL that was under the recall! Its the same 2.4 liter engine! I have talked to customer service, they sent me to the ESCALATION department. They said its not on the recall list and isnt under warranty. So, now my car has been at Kemper Kia of Bridgewater New Jersey for 3 weeks. Have talked to a very reputable engine repair shop. They told me this is often how they let bad news out about recalls, a few models at a time. I cant wait for them to actually put my car on the list. This really sucks and so does KIA for not covering this AT ALL!!!!
Everything the other reviewers are saying is true. First of all the dealer coerced me to pay 900.00 over the sticker price. Before that they distracted me while their assoc. went to the car I chose, a base model ,and tried to change the sticker price from 13,000 to 15,000. When I objected they changed it back. Then the first thousand or so miles the steering wheel and tires would freezing / lock up while turning while driving incredulously. A few times I almost drove into vehicles or caused major accidents. Consumer assistance was no help at all. They refused to fix the problem saying they could not duplicate the issue. So I contacted dvohs to file a formal complaint. Then the vehicle wouldnt start at all many times, I had to call for jumps and tows sometimes in freezing weather. At ten thousand miles the clutch failed and had to be completely replaced. Now at 46,000 miles the car needs to be pushed down the hill just to get it to drive. Kia consumer hassle stated that the promises of bumper to bumper warranty does not exist. We are sorry they misled you that way. The warranty only covers the powertrain. The promise of free tires for the lifetime of the vehicle a total lie. They stated they are not obligated to honor any promises made by their representatives. The repairs at 46,000 miles which will be my total financial responsibility. They denied ever receiving previous calls at consumer assistance which is appalling. The dealership Columbus Ga hung up the phone in my face when I described my situation and refused to answer any more of my calls or voicemails. Kia refuses to honor their PROMISES TO customers and blatantly admit their claims of 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty is a complete lie. Never buy Kia. If you have one trade it in for something else or you will be hung out to dry. The attorney general, Better Business Bureau, and consumer affairs have abandoned the Kia consumers. I will be saddled with bills I never expected for a car that is obviously a lemon and will never ever function properly. I spent my entire savings paying for this car. Now I have no money and soon at 46,000 miles no car or money to fix the car. There is no justice for KIA Soul owners either.
My 2011 Kia Sorrento was literally a gift from God. I genuinely would not have chosen it but circumstances dictated my purchase, I would not change a thing. This vehicle is efficient, reliable and affordable. I would buy it again!
Just wanted to vent in regards to the poor quality of my Rio. I bought it used from my local KIA dealership in February, 2012, and financed on a three year contract. On June 18, 2013, I was driving it in town and it just died on me with no warning. A policeman happened to be going by, and he helped me guide it to the side of the road and stayed with me to direct traffic until a tow truck could arrive. This was a dangerous situation and I am grateful that the policeman was there. I had my car towed to a mechanic my family has used locally for 30 years. The tow truck driver and policeman guessed that it was either a started problem or an alternator; I was shocked when the mechanic called me to report that my engine was gone and I would need to purchase a new one. Specifically, on the mechanics report, it stated that the car has suffered a catastrophic engine failure...cylinder has dropped a valve and there is damage to another cylinder. There was no possible way I could afford to buy a new engine, but a used one was located, which would have cost me $2700 for parts and installation. Being I still owed payments on the car until February, 2015, I knew I could not pay for the car plus the engine replacement. The mechanic volunteered that he hated to see me invest the money into replacing the engine because the car was just not worth it. He recommended I sell it for scrap, perhaps getting $400-$500. Unfortunately, being I was still owing payments on the car, the option of selling it was not an option. At this time, my KIA Rio had 97,000 miles on it. My next step was to contact my local KIA dealership and explain what had happened. I thought it was incredible that the engine had completely failed ~ I had kept up on oil changes and normal maintenance, even paying KIAs service department to replace a disintegrated gear shift four months after purchasing the car! Not once had I been notified that the engine had issues. The dealership did not address the engine dying problem, but rather tried to talk me into trading in the dead car and buying a new(er) one. This would have meant I would have had to add the remaining balance due on my dead car into the amount of my payments on a new(er) car, something I could not possibly afford. KIA did offer to replace my engine with a used one for $2200, $500 less than my mechanic quoted, but by this time I had spoken with friends in the car repair business who agreed that my Rio was not worth fixing. By searching online, I was shocked to read about the same problem other Rio owners had posted. Is this a KIA manufacturing problem? My family have owned many cars, various makes and models, running into high mileage, and have never had an engine completely fail like this. I cannot help but think this is a poorly made car and I do not understand why a recall was never initiated once it became obvious that many customers were losing engines. It makes me sick when I realize I am still responsible for payments on a car sitting dead in my garage. I honestly feel the engine failed through no fault of mine and I am furious that KIA is allowed to continue ignoring such a major concern of Rio owners.
My girlfriend has a 2012 KIA Sorento. After 40000 miles the engine seized. We brought it to the dealer and they asked for service records. When we provided them they still would not honor the warranty. They said it could be improper maintenance and said we had to prove it was their fault. (Since we had gone to Firestone and a few other places for oil changes, they can now say it was their fault not KIAs and we would then have to fight a different vendor to replace the engine.)I was initially too shocked to be angry, but when they said we could pay them to take apart the motor to prove fault, I spoke to another mechanic who has dealt with this before. He said they are not likely to find anything that will prove anything either way and we will just be out an additional 500 dollars. I am now taking the only recourse I have without money for a lawyer. I am telling every outlet I can find to go with a different company. This feels like fraud to me. We did what was asked of us in the handbook and they just dont want to honor their warranty. It never says anywhere that if you dont use KIA for everything, you might as well write off your warranty. So now we are stuck without a car and with a probable 5K cost facing us because we did the right thing. It is not honest or fair that a car from 2012 with 40K miles has a dead engine. There are plenty of reviews about this type of thing on the internet. I recommend you look long and hard before falling for the same trick we did. We probably wont have a choice since there are still 3 years on the note so we cant really do anything but let them bully us. Please consider any other car before KIA. #dontbuyKIA #KIA
I have a 2012 Kia Rio that I bought one year ago. There is 52 thousand miles.. I love the car, drives good and gets good gas mileage.. A couple weeks ago I had a terrible burning smell after letting car warm up.. Couldnt find anything wrong.. A few days after radio would not keep stations programmed. Went to work one day radio was fine.. Went to lunch radio did not work. Kia said nothing they could do warranty was up.. I thought when I purchased car the 100 thousand mile warranty was on the whole car. Now I have to buy a new radio as the one in the car burned out. They said well its electronics.. Have never in all the years I have had a car the radio burns out. Kia does not stand by warranty as they say when you purchase car. Will never buy a Kia again.
2014 KIA CADENZA. I have been a Kia owner for the past 10 yrs. I previously owned the AMANTI that I loved very very much, until the very end when I decided to trade in for a new Cadenza. But I seem to have a internal noise problem with the cadenza. I noticed the clicking noise about 200 mile. I took it to the dealer, however they said could not find a problem. I returned again after 300 miles, still with the problem. The sales manager advised me to wait until after 500 miles to open a case with Kia. I returned the auto after 900 miles, they looked into it. On Nov 13th 2014 they wrote the following on the work order PIT STOP P5282 SIDE CENTER OF SUNROOF, NOISE COMING FROM LOOSE SCREWS HOLDING SUNROOF CURTAIN IN PLACE: 85310R00 3.2 HEADLINER BAR, 81651 - 3R500... FAILED PART, RE-SECURED AND PREFORMED PIT STOP FOR RATTLE. Well after month later the problem return, I wrote an email complaining to dealer that noise appears to have return. On 01/06/15 I took the car back to the dealership for the same noise. The dealership found no problem and wrote the following: TEST DROVE CAR WITH TECHNICIAN FOR 7 MILES OVER VARIOUS ROAD SURFACES AND OVER BUMPS COULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM, NO PROBLEM FOUND. Problem still exist. The dealership indicated that they drove the car for over 7 miles and found no problem, however I had noted the mileage on the car and found that the car had only been driven under a mile. I filed a complaint sales manager at the dealership, which the service manager admitted that they did not drive the car only around the block. I preceded to file a compliant with Kia customer service and meet with the District Manger. It took about 2 weeks to confirm the meeting at the dealership. I finally met with DM who drove with me and agree there was a problem. It took over 2 more weeks to schedule a repair date. On 3/25/15, Once again I returned the car to the dealership and they found a problem. Stating the following: C/S noise coming from roof of vehicle near the roof. Please check and advise. Effective part # 81630R500. Found edge of sunroof plate bolts were over torqued causing rail to sit improperly in track adjusted to Kia specs and road tested with technician and Kia DSPN, adjusted sunroof plates, no noise present at this time.Once again the noise has come back and even worst, metal bouncing inside of sunroof. I stop by the dealership on 4/14 and talked to the service manger, which rode with me and agreed there was a noise. He preceded to advise me that he would contact the DM of Kia and call me when arrangement made. On 4/16/15 the service manager called stating still waiting on DM call back. On April 22, he contacted me stating which day early next week was good. On April 24th contact SM and advised him that on April 28th at 10 am would be fine to meet with the SM and DM. To my surprise, the DM was not present. I advised the SM to contact me when the DM would show up so that I was involved in the loop. However, that did not occur. On 4/29 the service manger advised me by phone that no problem was found. I have requested once again to meet with the DM and take the service manager and District Kia manager on a ride, so they understand the noise factor. I have requested to meet the DM through the Kia customer service and Service manger at the dealer, once again review the problem and take test drive with me present. Still waiting for a response as of 5/1/15. I am extremely unhappy with the noise of this cadenza, most passenger hear the noise. Now the dealer is sending messages that I need to return the loaner car, because KIA is not going to pay for the use of the loaner. So now they are threatening me with billing my credit car for a dealer loaner. I have not heard from KIa regarding this matter as of yet. Frankly I am beginning to dislike the fact that I purchased this cadenza, though I was extremely happy with my KIA AMANTI. CASE # **. One of the solutions has been to have the sunroof completely changed according to other kia cadenza owners who have experienced the same situation.
I purchased a 2017 Kia Sorento brand new last year. Up until this point I was happy with my purchase and have enjoyed the vehicle. But recently I took a highway trip (car now has 19,000 miles) and it started to develop a problem with sticky steering at higher speeds. Very difficult to maintain position in the lane. My husband asked me why I was jerking the car so much, but thats what it took to keep the vehicle in the lane. I was so concerned with safety that I sacrificed part of my vacation sitting in a repair shop having them go over the front end. I was told there was nothing to check because the steering is electronic, not hydraulic. Hoping the car was safe to drive I returned home and immediately had my dealer check the problem. The dealer said there was nothing wrong and nothing to check diagnostically. Come back when it happens again, the manager said. Since then it has happened nearly every time I drive above 50 mph. After doing some research I have found this is a common problem for which KIA has no fix. Very sorry I purchased this car because not only does KIA not care about the problem, its been around for a while and they have done nothing to correct it. Time to go buy a Honda.
Our problem seems minor when I read some of the complaints people have. The rear seat release, passenger side has broken which does not allow us to raise the seat back to a sitting position. This allows only one person to sit in the rear seat. The release was always balky but since it was used only sparingly we lived with it. Well it finally failed. If you look closely at it, the lever handle is connected by a flimsy plastic piece that broke. My dealer gave me price in excess of $600.00 to repair. Since we have 63,000 miles it is out of warranty. We were told to contact Kia Customer Services, which we have done with very little results. We have been waiting over two weeks for a response. We were told we could expect in two business days.
I have never experienced customer service this terrible in my entire life. I have been given a defective vehicle, the dealerships wont help me, Kia Corporate wont help me, and I have been try to get someone to look at my car FOR OVER A YEAR!!! This is by far the worst experience when purchasing a car and I was given a lemon. I have kept track of my 2021 Seltos mileage and I get no more than 18 mpg IN A SELTOS!!!! I have made countless attempts to contact KIA for help and they have not once given me any option or even offered to check my car. I have letter and emails and even tried going to the BBB and no one NO ONE has ever bothered to help me.
To start things off, I just want to say that I WILL NEVER purchase another Kia. Back in November of 2019, I hit a deer and had to have somebody work done at my local body shop. When that was completed, I had to take it to Kia of Lincoln, NE to have the new module that was put in by the body shop reprogrammed. What was supposed to be a simple fix, Kia of Lincoln ended up having my vehicle for almost a month and a half. They also had to fly a tech in from another state to figure out what was wrong with it and why the codes wouldnt clear. They hardly ever communicated with me on what was going on and when Id call in to get an update, they would have to call me back or say that they were still trying to figure out the problem. When I finally got it back, it seemed to function as it should. However, that didnt last long though. There was a several times where I would have sensor lights come on and the vehicle would act up. The most recent occurrence was when I was driving home from work and a bunch of sensor lights came on, my cruise control quit working and I had to pull over on the side of the interstate. I ended up having to shut my vehicle off and when I started it back up, it wouldnt shift out of park. I had to have it towed to a Kia dealership in Grand Island, NE the following day to see if they could diagnose the problem. They werent able to duplicate the vehicle not being able to shift out of park, but they did find that the module that was supposed to be reprogrammed when Kia of Lincoln had it, was never done correctly. This is why the sensor lights kept coming on. I ended up having a bill that I was told that I was responsible for since the issue was not covered under warranty due to it being related to the accident. I reached out to the dealership in Lincoln several times and they basically told me that they did everything correctly and that there wasnt anything else that they could do. This is when I decided to contact Kia Consumer Services to see if they could help me out. I explained what was going on to them and was told that Id get a call back the next day. A few days passed by and I still hadnt heard anything. I ended up calling back a little over a week later to find out that my case had been turned over to someone else. No one bothered to let me know once again. I reached out to them again a few days later to get some answers and was told by the person that I spoke with that it wasnt their problem, so I needed to contact my insurance company I had at the time of the accident. He also hung up on me after he proceeded to say that he wasnt going to argue with me. So, I contacted them see if they would help me out. I finally received an answer back and they agreed to cover the bill after they had already paid for the vehicle to be fixed correctly the first time when Kia of Lincoln had it. I think the part that irritates me the most is, the dealership that didnt fix it correctly the first time wouldnt even help me out and they are the same dealership that I purchased my vehicle from. Its going on a month now and Im still without my vehicle. Ive had to drive other peoples to get to and from when this could of easily been taken care of within a matter of a few days.
KIA is by far the worst company to deal with. The vehicles are horrible, and their warranty is a scam. I have had issues with my KIA Stinger since day one, and it has been nothing but fight after fight to get warranty work done. I have had 3 dealerships and multiple reps at their so called Premium Care division. The reps at corporate are all rude, and act as if they are doing you a favor. They do not care that the car has issues, and blame the dealers. I have had to get the Attorney Generals office involved with a consumer fraud case as well. Do yourself a favor and stay away from KIA. Their vehicles look good on paper, but they are cheaply made and will have many issues.I purchased 2 new 2018 vehicles, both the top of the line KIA has to offer, and they are nothing but trouble. One issues after another. We have a Honda CRV that is 4 years old and has never had to make a visit to the dealer for an issue. Better to have a shorter warranty on a reliable car, than to have to have the car at the dealer every week. As of this writing, my car has been at the dealer for service for 70 days and counting. They still have no idea how to fix the issue. And all this time I am expected to continue to make payments while not having a car for over 2 months. Please do yourself a favor and do not buy KIA. Just do a little research and you will see all the issues these vehicles have. I wish I had done better research before purchasing.
I bought this Kia Sorento in 2006, brand new. I have been the only driver and have put 75,000 miles on it. I have had nothing but problems, and of course none that the extended warranty I paid dearly for nor the power train 100,000 mile warranty cover. Most recently, I had a series of breakdowns that finally resulted in my Kia needing a fuel pump, so I was told. $800.00 later, I pick up my Sorento to start it and have a loud knocking noise as well as my check engine light on. Come to find out, the mechanic noted that a week before when the car was dropped off. So, my cars been at Kia for 10 days and I pick it not completely fixed. I was told it is probably crank barrings(!?) and it will be fine for now.My car broke down again on my way home, yes, after $800.00 and a new fuel pump? So, I call the Kia dealership, I bought it from to be asked. Did you have the timing belt changed at 60,000 miles? Now, how would I know that? So, he tells me now my extended and power train warranties are null. I will never buy another Kia or Hyundai product ever again, and I will spread the word loudly! I am not a hateful person, I work hard as a registered Nurse in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and have dedicated my life to helping people. I am recently a single mom of a 17 year-old who wants to go to college and I just cant afford to not have a car, or to have a car that is not reliable. I also feel I was cheated into a warranty that will not be honored, and it is disappointing. Please pass the word about the dishonesty of Kia.
Ok, Ive been having issues with my low beam headlights. I cant even tell when they are on and having highbeams is the only why I can drive safely, until other drivers blind me with theirs because they are upset about it. Originally I thought maybe they just need cleaned... till I did research this is a major issue with many people and Kia needs to take responsibility. The chrome is getting burnt by the lights and it no longer is reflective enough to work effectively. I dont know how they have not recalled with all the complaints I have viewed online. This is a safety hazard and needs to be addressed. Other than that I think it is a fantastic car.
I have a 4.5yo Sorento that had the engine fail on the freeway. After $440 to get it towed to Lakeside Kia we have been told the car isnt there, it is there, it was the turbo charger, it was the piston, it is under warranty, it is still be assessed we can get a replacement car. We can not get a replacement car. In the meantime it has been 3 weeks and no one is giving a straight answer or saying when it will be fixed. The warranty is rubbish. Never buy a Kia.
I have a 2011 Kia Sorento with 82,000 miles that I have just been told has a bad rack and pinion. I have been told by 3 mechanics at various places that there have been multiple bulletins out about this issue with the rack and pinion with KIA Sorentos yet KIA will not cover the issue or have a recall! I think it is time to get the news media involved. There is something wrong with this!!!!!
Kia defective forward collision avoidance being blown off. I called Kia Consumer Affairs after our local Kia technicians replicated a malfunctioning FCA system, reached out to the Kia Corporate Tech Line to troubleshoot, and the Tech-Line refused to acknowledge any issue. To them, if the Forward Collision Avoidance system was working while in Cruise control mode, it was functioning fine. The system is supposed to apply brakes and give an audible warning when NOT in cruise control. And it had worked - twice. But never again. Although it does apply brakes when in cruise control mode and a car slows down in front of you. In order to replicate the problem, the local techs nearly wrecked my car while doing a white-knuckle test without cruise control. No alarm went off / no brakes came on. The system was not functioning as advertised to prevent sudden collisions when driving in regular (non-cruise control) mode.I called Kia Consumer affairs and they opened a case number for me. They reached out to the dealership to confirm the problem their techs found. They said they would have a field-tech come and examine my car. BUT Field tech called the tech-line, who said there isnt a problem, and field-tech refused to come examine my car. Kia Consumer Affairs blew off the problem and said they cant go over the head of the Tech Line. Really? VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE since everything is circular and the Tech-Line is God. Its supposed to work on paper, so the Tech-line believes there couldnt possibly be an actual problem with their product. So much so, they REFUSE to have one of their corporate techs look at it in person to verify the problem themselves! So, this is a safety Hazard. I spent $$$ on a high end technology warranty package. The vehicle is just 1 year old, and the reason I purchased all the safety features is null and void. And there is nothing I can do about it. Kia Consumer Affairs Department has no power to request something to be looked into that the Tech-Line doesnt want to acknowledge. This is not right. Even the Kia Dealership cant believe this is happening. But they, like me, have no power. DO NOT BUY A KIA VEHICLE. They have a serious issue with this safety feature and refuse to look into it.
I took my 2006 Kia Sportage EX in for routine service at the Young dealership in Lansing, MI 6 weeks ago and asked to rotate my tires. They broke a lug nut stud on my right front tire and had to order another one (took 3 days). On 4/16/12, I took it in again for routine service. This time they broke 3 studs on my right front tire. Again, they had to order it. I’m still waiting. Is there a problem with Kias wheels? Or is there a problem with this dealership? My Kia is a 2006 model with over 180,000 miles on it. I am extremely satisfied with this vehicle but again, is there a problem?
In January 2008, I bought a 2007 KIA Spectra from Kia Brampton, with a 5-year or 100,000-km. warranty. All went well until December 26, 2012 when the vehicle was at 99,950 km. The oil light started to come on and off. It was towed to KIA Brampton where they declared the vehicle okay but proceeded to empty the oil and place clean oil therein. I was told to return the vehicle every week for check up which I did every week until March when KIA finally confirmed that the vehicle did have problem. Then they told me they will contact me after they get in touch with KIA Canada. In March, they took in the vehicle and claimed to change the rings, which they assumed was the problem. However, within two weeks, the same problem resurfaced and I took back the vehicle to KIA Brampton. The car was checked and we were told by the Service Manager that the change of the ring was a goodwill gesture and the warranty has expired and in general, when vehicles reach the end of the warranty, KIA seems to think that people want to con them to recondition the engine and hence they would not be able to help us. KIA Brampton recommended that we contact KIA Canada re the problem.I contacted KIA Canada about the problem and was told by the Customer Service representative, Malia, on May 24, 2013 that the KIA could not assist me because the vehicle has passed its warranty period. I refuted this of course on the basis that the problem with the vehicle was detected before the warranty period expired. I asked to speak to a supervisor and after being put on hold for 15 minutes, I was told that the Supervisor was busy and but will contact me within 24 hours. On Wednesday, May 29, 2013, I finally received a call from a Sandy from KIA Canada about the matter. I again requested that KIA honor the warranty and fix the vehicle. Sandy said she had nothing to add to what Malia told me because KIA Brampton fixed the problem in March based on their diagnosis and now that the car is over the warranty period, KIA is not responsible for any repairs.
My mothers brand new Kia Sorento was purchased to take a trip 800 miles to see her sisters. When she arrived, the displays, (all digital), went black. Mind you this car has 1055 miles on it and she is now in Redding Ca., 800 miles from home here in Utah. She called Kia in Redding, and they told her they couldnt help her. She then called the dealership here in Utah and they told her the same thing. They gave her a customer service number. When she called it, they immediately knew the part number. After she gave this to the dealership, they told her it would take 5 weeks to get it from Korea! She once again called the dealership where she purchased the car, In Salt Lake City, Utah, and they offered no help at all! They told her she is basically stuck in Redding CA for at least 5 weeks, or she could chance it and cross the 500 miles of desert between Reno and her home here in Utah... KIA IS A JOKE! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENTS I HAVE EVER HEARD OF!
After reading all the problems and issues everyone has faced with the Engines seizing in their Kia Sorentos, I was terrified that I would have the same issues. On April 20th, I was driving my 2012 Kia Sorento when without any warning my engine shut off, lost power steering, braking and everything. It was a pretty intense few seconds while I was sure I was going to get into a major head on collision. I managed to get to the side of the road. I tried restarting the engine - nothing, the dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree and then the inside of the car started filling up with smoke and the smoke started rolling out from under the hood. I got out of the car, grabbed the fire extinguisher I have in the back, lifted the hood and was prepared to see flames. Nothing but lots of smoke. The care was towed to the dealer and was told the engine had suffered a catastrophic failure and seized. Thats when I started reading about all the issues everyone has been having.Kia instructed the dealer for me to show proof of maintenance, I went to the mechanic that has done all my service and he gave me a printout of the services performed. Kia still was on the fence and had the dealer pull the cover and check for sludge. The engine was clean - no sludge whatsoever. I did some research and found out that there is a lawsuit in progress against Kia for this very issue, plus a recall notice. Long story short, document everything, keep your records, do some research and having everything with you when this happens to you. Kia is replacing my engine with a remanufactured long block and providing a rental car at their cost, all covered under the warranty. I had 85K on the car when the engine seized.
I bought a 2019 Kia Sorento with only 35,000 miles on it. The car broke down after less than 2 months of use. It has been towed to the dealer and been sitting in their lot for over two months now. The week my car died, I also lost a family member and was unable to get to the hospital before he passed. The mechanic said they dont know what the problem is with it and they wont approve a rental until he can find the exact problem and they also will not approve a reimbursement for the rental. I have called them several times about the fact that I am making a car payment for a new car and additional fees for rental with no end in sight. I bought a new car specifically so I would not have these types of problems. This situation is completely unacceptable and I will never ever buy another Kia as long as I live. I honestly dont think the company even cares which is all the more frustrating.
While vacationing, the engine on my KIA blew with no warning. No pre-warning engine light, just a complete engine fail. Fortunately it was under warranty, so the repairs will be at no cost to me. Also, I had the good fortune to be sent to a phenomenal service/dealer, Youngblood KIA in Springfield, MO, theyve been fantastic!! Unfortunately, the only thing KIA customer service has been able to provide is the runaround. My son and I have contacted Consumer Affairs multiple times and each time I receive a different answer/response. First the rental is approved, then the rental is in question, then they dont know what to tell me, oy vey!! All Im asking is for them to stand by their customer, who had to leave the car 7.5 hours from home. Im requesting a rental and a reunite of my vehicle once prepared. You would think this would be easy, wrong. If this is the type of customer service I receive on a warranty repair, I will NEVER buy another KIA vehicle. In addition, I will tell everyone I know about this experience so the buyer is aware of what they may be getting into. For the record, the service/dealership in Springfield, MO is paying for my rental in Ohio... That is how you serve your customer. I may have to purchase all of my vehicles from them going forward, theyve already acknowledged that theyll ship a purchased vehicle to Ohio.
Bought a 2016 Kia Sorento 10/2017. Was traveling for work related activity in FL. Engine seized. Had to be towed to nearest KIA in SE Alabama. Car has been down since 12/18/2018. KIA states will replace motor. But they dont seem to understand that when an original motor is pulled from a vehicle and the mileage on the chassis and body differs, the title becomes what is known to the States and lenders as a Salvaged title. You lose if any but all trade in value. Also articulating the circumstance to a future buyer can be complicating in itself. I will state for the record that this is my third KIA. First was a 14 Soul, 16 Optima I bought brand new left the lot with only 17 miles on the motor, at 40, was told the engine has a recall and would fail due to improper oil delivery system, so I trade up to the 16 Sorento, and well well, here we are at 22,miles and what do we have once again. A LEMON. KIA is ripping off American Consumers and should be banned from conducting business in the USA. They need to pack up and go back to Seoul. This is part of what is wrong with our economy. And the personal debt ceilings rise and rise, due to inadequate products, as soon as one car is paid for it breaks and time to repurchase again. We need to get back to the basics and make cars like they use to. I’ve got a 96 Chevy that runs as if it was just driven off the lot. Wake UP America.
I brought my 2009 Kia to the dealership for a free upgrade on the covers for the back of the rear seats. And they also completed a free ECM upgrade according to Kias recommendations, without consulting me before doing so because Kia states that they have the right to do any and all upgrades without asking the owner of the vehicle while the vehicle is on their property and being serviced. I wouldnt have stopped them before or after, why should I, any free upgrade for my vehicle is great... but about a week or so later, my transmission started jerking when the automatic transmission downshifted from 2nd gear to 1st gear. I brought it back to the dealer and they said that since there were no warning lights or codes for the problem, they didnt know what to do. So they waited for info from their tech line. Time went by so I made an appointment for them to check my transmission fluid level again. Being it’s a sealed transmission, I am not qualified to check it and according to Kia Corporation, this transmission fluid in the V-8 is Lifetime, no regular changing is needed. The fluid costs around $80 a quart!!!!! Really???I brought my Kia Borrego to the dealer for the appt to check the transmission fluid level and the service manager said that they couldnt check the level until I prepaid for a couple of quarts of fluid due to the high price of it per quart and also that they didnt have any at the dealership and would have to special order it and receive the fluid before they checked the transmission fluid level. Im fuming! So, I politely with a smile showed the service manager their maintenance service checklist that they performed on my vehicle when they did the ECM upgrade. On it, it says that they checked all fluid levels and checked my transmission fluid level and it was signed. The service manager quickly declined saying they couldnt check it and didnt check it. So they were falsifying documents by saying that they did but now they dont. A few days later I made an appointment to talk to the Owner of the dealership. And after a bunch of defying belief of my issue, he supposedly bypassed the service manager and asked the mechanic directly if he checked the fluid and the answer was yes. Hmm, as for the hard jerking of the transmission, the Owner says that that is normal, most Kia vehicles downshift hard. He said that his Kia downshifts hard!! Its getting deeper. So I brought my Kia to a different dealership in a different city and their solution, remove the transmission and a used transmission was installed due to my extended warranty outside of Kia. A few months later, the hard downshifting starts again, mostly when the motor is cold, not from the weather, just after setting for a while. I brought it back to that dealership and they reset it back to its norm and made it worse. Now it’s doing the hard jerking all the time at the 2 to 1 downshift. From the get go, I told both dealerships and warranty people my thoughts and I blamed it on the ECM upgrade. Why would two transmissions give me that same problem?? My original transmission had around 90,000 miles. The used one had 30,000 miles. Ive put over 4,000 miles on the used one. Im waiting on answers from the second dealership on how they plan to correct this problem again. Im tired of all of this. I want my vehicle repaired correctly. I have an extended warranty up to 100,000 miles and a 1 year warranty on the used transmission that is in the Kia Borrego now. Any ideas or help will be greatly appreciated.
After just a few months of driving my KIA I noticed spots in my paint. I took it to the dealer. They said it was from tree sap and that the warranty didnt cover it. There was a couple employees of the dealership that told me not to give up as management knows there is a problem with the paint, but they dont know how they are going to handle it. Everyone that I have shown the paint to outside of Kia has said it is poor paint because whatever caused the spots went right through the clear coat. I am sixty one years old and this is the first car that I have ever had that had this problem. I dont park under trees, even though with previous cars I did and had no problem. I always keep my car washed.
I purchased a 2013 new Kia Soul in December 2012. I took the car the Kia to have it looked at because it ran hot once so I didnt drive it again until I took it to the dealer. Let me add, I am still until factory warranty and have about 69,000 miles on the Kia. I was told that the engine was gone. I said how so when I had maintenance done. KIA denied to fix my car and states I have to 5665.00 to get my car fix, in which the used engine is 2115.00, 954.00 for test ran on the car and the rest is labor and parts. I hope this helps someone. My car is still at Kia and I dont know what else to do.
2004 Kia Sorento with 60,000 miles. The left rear axle bracket has rusted through and broken. This is a very serious safety issue. The design and manufacture of this particular part is defective.
I purchased a 2016 Kia Soul+ in October 2016. I loved my Soul... so much that I was recommending Kia to all of my family and friends. Well... while on vacation June 20, 2017, my Kia Soul+ seized on the freeway while going 65 mph!!! Lucky for me and my family, the freeway was fairly empty. Had it towed to a nearby Kia Dealer. They determined it was the same problem that all the cars on the recall list were having. So they gave me a rental and sent me on my way. Its been three weeks and still no answer as to when my car will be fixed. I live 600 miles away from where my car is at! I cant believe that in the past 6 years Kia hasnt resolved this issue with the engine!! Ill be trading in my Kia for something else! This is unacceptable!
I purchased a 2015 KIA Sorento in July of 2014 at Brockville KIA. It was all I wanted it to be. On November 28/2014 I had an accident. I slid through a T-intersection and into a steep but not deep ditch. I expect I was going 10kph as it was in town and the streets were slippery. The Sorento sustained damage to the front lower bumper and front rim/wheel, however the air bags deployed (curtain bags-ceiling and both front seat air bags). The Sorento was taken to Carstar Brockville, which shares a lot with the Brockville KIA dealer where I had purchased. On Nov. 29th the estimate came in at approx. $23000 to repair. I was expecting to have truck ready in a couple weeks. It is now Jan. 26th 2015 and I still have no Sorento. Kia Canadas service has been frustrating and extremely disappointing, as they have made many promises about delivery, but to no avail. I have spoken to customer reps at KIA (claim#**) on too many occasions to mention. More frustrations....As far as Economical Mutual Insurance I believe, if they had done their job in November or early Dec. the Sorento would have been replaced. The parts (air bags/seats were and are still not available). Economical did provide me with a check for $1000 for non-use on rental for the month of Dec. (still in my pocket-not cashed), however it was the end of the benefit at 30 days. Kia Brockville, and Brister Insurance brokers are covering the charges for the vehicle I am using in month 2.Approaching the end of Jan. and still no delivery dates for missing parts. I have pressured for answers from all involved but have just encountered more frustrations and more false promises. As a first time Kia buyer it has tested my patience and understanding of the system. Economical has done a poor job, only doing what they had to and no more. They even suggested on several occasions that, It is not our fault and even suggested that the repair shop put the old seats in and let me drive until new seats arrive (no air bags). The shop refused... I am hoping that you can help.
Well I bought a 2014 Sorento and it has died on me 3 times. The 1st time the memory board went the 2nd day I had it. They fixed it. 2nd time the battery went. They replaced it. Well today 4/17 I went to start my car and is dead again, unknown why. We called to have Kia to come tow and speak to a sales manager cause the service department was closed as per secretary. She advised speak to a sales manager, left message, didnt get a call back. Called again and was told only one manager and we would have to wait until 4/18 to speak with someone. In the meantime I dont have a car and I have a disabled five year old with health problems and spends a lot of time in the hospital. What am I to do if something happens? Call a cab, better yet. Every month I go to Boston Massachusetts to Boston Childrens hospital. What if this happened going there and I was stuck. This would be a huge health risk. I want a new car. This is ridiculous!!
Purchased a car, went to pick it up and close the deal. Said the car was moved offsite, they could not find it. Then they found it but could not start it, it was the battery, no then it was the fuel pump. They bring up a higher priced model and said take it or leave it. I had to have a car, they knew it. Then hidden in the lease and never disclosed is a $400 termination fee. I argue, they say they never disclose this after all it is 3 years away. Arrogant and unprofessional, might as well have been on a used car lot with bare light bulbs shining. Three letters and many phone calls to the owners, not a return - nothing. How about I am sorry. Stay away from this dealer.
I have owned 2 Kia Souls in the past 4 years. The first car had some paint problems in that a lot of chipping was going on and not only around the wheels. There was paint chipping on the sides and at the top of the roof. We dont live on a gravel road nor do we drive on any gravel roads, when I took the car in for this, keeping in mind that this is the 2010 model with 83000 km. The dealership took some pictures and sent them in to Kia for the ok to go ahead and fix the problem. Kia gave them the go ahead and we got our car repainted. The new paint on the car was considerably better, in fact we had no real chipping and as the body guy said it was because there was actually some paint on the car.We traded this car in for a 2012 Kia Soul and now are facing the same problem. The difference is that I actually installed mud flaps on this car when I got it home and it is worse than the first car, in fact at the back wheel there is no paint at all and the car has surface rust developing on about a 4 area. Showing this to the dealer, they went through the same procedure of taking pictures and submitting them to Kia, this time the verdict was different. They are not going to cover the paint work. They are not going to paint the car. I have called Kia Customer service and awaiting a call back.
The headlamp developed a crack internally. No mark on the outside, Kia claims it must have been hit. There is no way, no mark of any kind on clear globe, no way to break from inside out. Their service has been terrible, they are rude, they have been called with questions, and pictures for two and a half months. They wont send anyone to look at it, and they offer nothing. I will never buy their product and I caution anyone else. Inside is plastic and falls apart.
I am very disappointed in my Sorento 2011. In 2012, I had trouble with my transmission. The KIA dealership in Waterford did some work on it. It began working better. Now a few weeks ago my battery died on me. I had to purchase a new battery from the dealership. My Bluetooth is not working they told me that the Bluetooth was covered, so they thought it may be the speaker because I could hear the other person but they could not hear me talking to them. They put a new speaker in but the other person still could not hear me. The dealership informed me that I need a new radio because the Bluetooth was a part of the radio and that it is not covered under the warranty. I am pissed. I have 44,000 miles on it.
I am an owner of Kia Rio 1,3/2004 and I am generally satisfied with it. There is only one problem. I must buy a new car key nearly every year. Car key is a wear off - grind in keyhole. This occurs because the key is made of brass and keyholes of steel. Service men know this, but they are powerless to solve this problem because every new elementary key is made of brass instead of steel.
I think we have seen enough of the Kia girl. She was cute at the beginning, but enough is enough. She has a Billy Mays irritating voice. She still is cute but lets scale back on the advertisements or get another spokesperson.
Less than impressed with this company and severely aggravated and disgusted. The Kia experience in general has really gone downhill in the past 10 years, but after my last purchase, it will be my last and I wish I could go back in time. From sales to service to Kias consumer affairs, everyone dropped the ball and rate a huge FAIL.Kia Consumer Affairs used to be a last line of sanity and a place to go where you could get help; now theyre just people who act like they are doing something, but ultimately just ignore you and never follow up or follow through. As others have said, watch the numbers closely in Finance because they will try to add things without asking. My last experience turned me so sour Ill probably get rid of this brand new 2021 car that is riddled with computer bugs and subpar paint before its even six months old. The car will start falling apart after the first year anyway. Terrible company with a terrible internal culture in how they deal with customers and they are turning out cheap vehicles.
I purchased a Kia 2004 Sorento from a local Kia dealer. About 2 years before the warranty was up (I bought it used from them and they only gave me the remaining 1st 5 year warranty), the car started making loud noises from the transmission/transfer case area. Then, while driving on the highway, the wheel basically locked up. I contacted the dealer, took it in, and they replaced a few parts but did not find out what was actually going on. After getting the car back, about 2 weeks later, it started again so I took it in again to them. They changed the oil in the front and told me to drive some more. Then 30 days before my warranty was up, it acted up again, and I took it in and they did nothing but check the oil again. So, almost 2 months later (30 days give or take after the warranty was up), my transfer case went out. I blew a seal and almost totally destroyed it. I took it back to Kia in Liberty Lake, WA and they told me that they would not cover it because it was not the main reason I kept bringing it in for. After researching, I found that this seemed to be a known issue with them and if their shop would have taken the time to check everything, they could have saved all those visits and unnecessary repairs. So, they wanted just under $5,000 to replace the transfer case. Well, I owed only $8,000, so to me, this was not right. I had to search around for a used transfer case because I had Torque on Demand version which was very hard to locate. I found a used one and had it replaced and only after 1 year later, the same exact thing occurred. Now that Ive had this car for a while and it is older, I have found so many people with the same issue but Kia refuses to do anything. You cannot tell me they do not know that this is a major issue. When the first time the wheel locked up, I was in major traffic and on the 2nd time, I was still in traffic but was lucky no one was behind me. I do not understand why/how KIA is not being made to replace these. Oh, and the manager at the service center put in his system that I refused service so that kept me from getting help from the dealer or corporation. Wow! Yes, I refused service on a lemon car.
I bought a 2011 Kia Sorento. When I first bought the car, it had an acceleration problem. And now it has an internal engine problem and Kia’s warranty does not want to cover the problem. It is a brand new car. I can’t believe that I bought a Kia and this was going to happen after only 12,000 miles of me driving it. This is too much. It has caused me and my family a whole lot of stress. I can’t believe it. It’s like a nightmare. It’s too much for a single, hard working mom of 5. I believed in Kia and their warranty. I thought about it and what else was going to be better than a 10-year warranty, 100 miles bumper-to-bumper? I guess not.
I have put up with 5 years of extremely poor customer service and vehicle service with KIA, Northland, Calgary. I have completed numerous surveys outlining my negative experiences and have never heard back once from KIA Canada. This last issue started on May 22, 2014, when I brought my car in for regular maintenance and to get the the defrost fixed as no air was blowing through the defrost vents. When I left I was told they had to order a part. I brought my vehicle back on June 13th. It was in the shop all afternoon. When I picked my car up I was told it was all fixed and right on the invoice it states retested all good. When I got in my car it was exactly the same, it was not fixed at all. Shane, the manager, came out and had a look and witnessed that the defrost was not working at all, no air was coming from the defrost! He changed a very dirty filter in the glove compartment. Of course I was very angry that I was told it was fixed and it was not, as the previous year I had the exact same experience but that time I had to bring my car back 3 times before it was fixed. Twice I was told verbally and in writing on the invoice, the problem was fixed when it was not. That is another KIA experience for another time. At this time I was told they would order every part possible to ensure it get fixed as now they are not sure what the problem is. So Shane said they will call when the part the comes in which should be within the next couple of weeks. I did not hear back from KIA at all. Finally I called KIA on Tuesday, August 26th (almost two months later) and spoke to Shane. He stated he would find out what was happening and call me back later in the day or first thing the next day. No return call, I finally called on Friday August 29th at 5 PM. I had to leave a message as all agents were busy so I left a very pointed message that I expected a call back regarding my issue. Their message indicated they were open till 5:30 PM. I did not get a return call from Shane until Monday at which time I was told the part would be in Tuesday or Thursday for sure and he would call me on one of those days to set up a time to come in. NO RETURN CALL YET AGAIN. I called today Monday, Sept 8 at 4:30 PM and spoke to Shane. And yes I was beyond angry, it is now snowing and cold and I have no defrost in my vehicle. I Do not believe the part was on back order. I do believe they did not order the part. Even if it was on back order not once was I contacted over the summer nor were calls ever returned as promised. I have had to initiate every contact during this whole issue. This does not really surprise me as the last 5 years (for warranty) I have dealt with much of the same and worse. I will never buy another KIA based on the horrible customer service and the apparently incompetent mechanics they employ. After all this time I even question whether or not the maintenance they say they do is actually done.
Bought new Kia Soul 2014. Very hard to see out of when I am changing lanes. The wide right rear panel block view. I have had starting problems since October 2015. I never go anywhere without my jumper cables. In November 2015 I had to leave the car at dealership for 3 days so they could try to figure out the problem. They decided I needed a new battery. I am still having starting problems. I brought the car in last month they said there is no problem. Yesterday had to have it jumped 3 times. Im disgusted.
To get a $500.00 rebate, I finance my 2014 Kia Soul (!) with the whole shebang through Kia Finance. 1st invoice came and showed the payoff amount. Sent them a check. Within a couple of weeks, got the pink slip in the mail. Then a week or so later, a check came in the mail as the payoff amount was over what was on the invoice. Very happy with their honesty. Had a Hyundai before and their manufacturer was great standing behind their product beyond 5 years... Never had a repair bill, just basic maintenance.
The car drives good. It has been a pleasure to drive the Kia. I love how spacious it is, it gets good gas mileage on the road. My car is gold. I bought the car used. It was a good price for it. Its a Kia Sorento LX 2008. It only had 79 thousand miles on it when I bought it.
So I was driving my car for a errand for my job and I reach my destination which is less than 10 mins from my job. I get back in the car, put it in reverse and the car will not move. I called for roadside, they were wonderful. The wait was a bit long but understandable since it was a Friday. But once I arrive at Braman Kia it was a disaster from there. I arrived Sat 7:55 p.m and they were closing instead of someone saying, Maam we are closing, everyone just rudely walks right past me and cuts off lights and etc. So I leave the car and pass by today to only be told that theres no techs today and that I cant be giving a loaner or told anything until the car is checked and they dont know if it will be checked today. Like seriously how can you not have a tech available, that they only have students today? Like seriously so what happens to your customer? They are just stuck with no means of transportation.
Kia South Atlanta has to be the most unprofessional and dishonest business that I have ever dealt with. I had two diagnostics prepared from two other locations free of charge on my 08 Kia Rio due to the check engine light. The car broke down 2 months after I purchased it (Fayetteville Ga)on the misfire of a plug . The steering wheel cracked up after 3 months and it was not covered on a new car. The same problem re-occurred. The dealer charged a diagnostic fee of $89 that was to be refundable. The first time the exact same problem occurred, it cost $145 not including my personal towing fee ($50). This time, the same problem cost $216 and the $89 for the diagnostic was not refunded. First, they dont keep their word, so get it in writing. As a first time owner, I expected better treatment; however, I learned my lesson. Service is horrible. They were supposed to call me. When the vehicle was ready repaired, there was no call. I took the car to them at 10:30 on 1/30/12 and it was to be ready at 5:45. They didnt even call me. I called Kia South at 5:40 and they stated the auto was ready. However, upon arrival, they charged for the diagnostic and the auto was, in fact, ready. I am very disappointed in the service and I feel that I should not have to pay the $89 fee when I had already had that action performed which identified the problem. Consumers need to be made aware of hidden fees because Kia will not. I paid $89 for a problem that was identified before I even went to Kia South for the repair. Beware, as a new car owner, the 100000 mile warranty is no good and the service also. Thank God its almost paid off. I will never deal with Kia again.
I purchased a 2017 Kia Sorento. After cleaning the plastic plate in front of speedometer with glass cleaner as recommended. I noticed that there were spots on other side of the plastic. This should not happen. Kia would not repair the problem and brushed aside the problem with the simple statement that it looked like outside influences were involved. Gee, could it be that KIA did not properly seal the plastic covering protecting the speedometer? If you buy a KIA, be prepared to fight for everything under warranty. Personally, I am getting rid of the Sorento and buying a car that lives up to its warranties.
I purchased the 2018 Kia Sorento EX 3.3L AWD new in January 2018. I currently have 23k miles on the vehicle now. This vehicle has been one of the best vehicles Ive ever owned, and Ive owned a lot of cars. The AWD system works great, handling is great, power is there when you need it and its comfortable. Every vehicle has its cons, but I find it difficult to find one with the Sorento. I know a few other people who own a Sorento and couldnt be happier with the purchase. The interior has a great feel and well put together, unlike a lot of new vehicles and their cheap composite plastic. The lines are almost seamless. The warranty (10yr/100k) seems great until you read the fine print. A lot of components are dropped off the warranty at certain mileage intervals along the way to the 100k benchmark. I did pay for the better warranty which covers all components to 100k miles, but even then other companies have warranties only going out to 24k to 36k miles, which is convenient to drop the vehicles warranty the moment it leaves new car status.I would recommend this vehicle to anyone thats considering purchasing an mid size SUV. For what you pay its the best bang for the buck. There is a transmission software update available. I brought the vehicle back in at 5600 miles to have it completed. KIA sent a $50 Visa prepaid debit card in the mail due to the inconvenience. Ive never received anything from any other manufacturer for an inconvenience.
I was taking my son to the hospital. The hospital we use is about an hour away from our residence. Three deer crossed the roadway. The last deer got confused, started to run back my way so I swerved to miss it. I hit loose gravel but did not know that when I did that it had ripped the oil pan off the motor. It stuck the throttle on and brakes useless. So I had no brakes and the throttle was stuck on. The van struck the embankment head on which was steep because at the top was a railroad track. The same track AMTRAC uses. Anyway after hitting the embank the van proceeded to hit a guide wire which pressed the hood into the motor and left scratches all over the van. It spun the van around, both sides of the van were hit against the pole, wire or embankment or ditch. The van proceed to climb the embankment, no brakes with the throttle stuck. I knew the other was going to be a roll because we were at an angle. Black smoke was pouring into the van. I am scared of black smoke (I was in a house fire 3 years ago. I was the last one out and suffered 2nd/3rd degree burns. I was life lined to Springfield). I couldnt see my son. I could hear him, he would answer me, but I could not see him. At the top of the tracks I heard him say we are going to roll. I said the airbags will deploy. How wrong was I. Just by chance that last tire was hanging onto the track. There was o2 tanks in the van (because of the fire 3 years ago, I burnt my lungs... I inhaled the flame). My seat belt did not lock. I hit the steering wheel, my breasts are bruised. I have a hernia and cant find an attorney that will go up against them. MY son had to have 12 stitches in his leg. I went to the hospital by ambulance because I couldnt breathe. NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. So much for 5 stars. MY SEAT BELT DID NOT LOCK. I HATE KIA.
Updated on 12/16/2019: Original Consumer Affairs complaint was filed 12/05/19. Their solution: They contacted the dealer that the body shop making the repairs is receiving the part from a wholesale part company. They yet again after 2 missed dates of which they claim the part would have arrived in which never happened. Now they claim they contacted the dealer with a new date of December 23rd 2019. Best part of it, They wont provide a rental (which most dealers have loaners) and also declined reimbursing the portion of the cost due to them not having the part available for my vehicle nor any other similar make/year. So because they cant provide it or dont have it customers like us need to wait and suffer. Why because as the customer escalations specialist described unfortunately they are coming from overseas, he did tell me that it has been put on an emergency status. We will not offer reimbursement or a rental at this time because you are outside of warranty and you are having the repairs done at a 3rd party. I do apologize. Not only have I not had the vehicle mind you (still financed) for 3 months now while paying for a rental right before Christmas but the only solution they could provide was calling the dealer for a proposed new date of arrival. But me as a customer need to jump threw hoops and submit claims both here and on social media and BBB just to get someone to pick up the phone.I have 4 children and with more than $900 worth of rental costs + deductible + an open ended date of when a part will come in with the only solution being a new date of arrival, and sorry that all we can offer is ridiculous. As the Regional manager said I am a regional manager, I would be the one you would pursue this. Unfortunately, we are not offering that. I will follow up with that dealer to make sure they get the part.Original Review: Be-careful buying a KIA. I thought I was being smart by buying a KIA which normally Id go for Dodge or Chevy! For 3 months my 2016 Kia Sedona has been in a shop waiting for KIA to actually provide or shall I say Manufacture a part in South Korea. Meanwhile I am paying for a rental. Corporate customer service couldnt help much. I was told the part needs to be ordered within the dealer, and the district manager needs to request it from Kia in South Korea to have it made. Its a damn wire harness. 3 Months with No ETA is unacceptable! I cant believe the manufacturer of the vehicle cant produce the part # 91112-A9370. I am willing to trade in the damn vehicle and NEVER BUY KIA AGAIN! I bought the car to last on the road for my family, not to last parked at the shop! Ridiculous.
I bought a Cadenza 2011 (brand new) from Saudi Arabia, Dammam branch. Vehicle VIN no: **. The car makes very strong sound when I just run the engine on. It is strong enough to shake the car. Anyway, the car was checked by the KIA agency in Dammam more than 8 times, due to the regular checking every 5,000 km and other checking for the particular defect as well. They promised me after every check that theyll fix the damage, but actually it is not fixed yet. I ask you, as you are the main center to deal with and stop them giving bad picture about KIA product by manipulating with their customers. I need the car to be fixed, if it is fixable or changed with a new one if it is manufacturers defect, as soon as I will not be forced to complain at the costumer production affairs or complaining on the daily newspaper. I appreciate your cooperation and thank you in advice for your quick reaction.
While driving my 7 month old Kia Soul (2014) home from dropping off my children at school it suddenly caught fire. It happened so quickly and spread so fast that by the time I realized what was going on and went to get out of the car, I couldnt because the flames were coming in on the drivers side. I got out on the passenger side, but my disabled daughter was in the back and the locks kept engaging and if it would not have been for a passerby who helped me to get her out, I shudder to think what would have happened. I had absolutely no problems with this vehicle prior to this and had it into the dealership for route oil changes. Kia says they are looking into it, but it has been 6 weeks now and I still have not heard back from them. We could have been killed in this fire and Kia should take responsibility for their vehicles. They said they had never heard of such a thing happening, but I have found several cases like mine on the internet. DO NOT BUY A KIA!
My 2016 Kia Sorento seized on 8/16/19... stopped in the middle of the highway. No lights, no sounds, nothing. Did some investigating and it was out of oil. Just had it changed on 6/7/19. Dealership is refusing to honor the lifetime warranty. Again, no lights, no warning, no nothing. 5.5 quarts of oil went somewhere in two months. Or at least thats what was SUPPOSED to be in there. There are several class action lawsuits pending as well regarding this issue & similar things. Dont be fooled.
We purchased a 2008 Kia Rio for our son to use before he graduated high school. In the 3 1/2 years since it has, it barely had 30k miles on it. Our son reported while driving it 2 weeks ago, that it jolted and he thought he had a blowout, but upon checking it, the tires were good. However, the right front wheel was free to float forward and backward in the wheel well. The Kia technician was quick to advise us that the person we had who welded the control arm did a poor job and it broke. He was immediately advised that the car was purchased new and other than oil changes, it has never been mechanically worked on. The service manager said they would submit it for warranty approval. Two days later, it was denied and we were informed that the operator hit something and broke the control arm. What happened to the expert opinion stating a bad welding job to breakage caused by damage? This isnt my first time around the block and I know when smoke is being blown up my shorts. The denial came from a supposed Kia rep. The Albuquerque Kia ran me around for a week to even get this information from them and would not follow up on information leaving me to them. One of their people even had the ignorance to even say aw boo! What was that supposed to mean? But they have my car and I understand what a mechanics lean is.
I will never buy another Kia. Period. We contacted the Kia Corporate office to help with an issue we had after our car broke down on the side of the interstate 2 times after being serviced at 2 different Kia dealerships, Langdale Kia in Valdosta and Crown Kia in Saint Petersburg. Kia Corporate gave us the run around, telling us they would send our service request upper management to have it approved. After 3 weeks, they finally told us that no our car wasn’t under warranty! What?! It’s like they didn’t even read what we submitted. Kia doesn’t know how to fix their own vehicles and doesn’t care if they break down multiple times. This has been a horrible experience. Now we have a car we own that can’t be repaired since Kia doesn’t even know how to fix it.
I took my brand new Kia 2013 (purchased in October 2012) in because I noticed peeling paint and rust spots. They had me bring it in numerous times, took pictures, etc. to only be told that it was my fault. They said the rust looks like a rock hit it, and the peeling paint must be from someone getting in and out of the car. They told us that our paint and corrosion warranty didnt cover this. The car is brand new and we dont drive too far in it. I also keep our cars very clean, both inside and outside. My husband works from home and I work 5 minutes from home so there is no excessive use in our car. Even if there was, there is no way this should happen. I purchased a 2004 Nissan Altima in February of 04 and just sold it in June. It had no paint issues nor rust. Also, the city gas mileage isnt what they advertise and we told them about that. They simply said, there are no current recalls. Also, when we start the car first time of the day and reverse, it makes a grinding noise. I told them about this, they checked it out 3 times now, and said they cant reproduce the sound. Also, when we bought the car, we asked for a 3rd spare key. The saleswoman said this would be no problem. We called, emailed, and showed up in person and each time were told that it would be sent to us. This began in October of 2012 when we bought it and it is now August 2013 and we have never received a key. They literally begged us for a great review when we bought the car and we gave it to them because there were no issues immediately. They raved how their customer support was top of the line, I DISAGREE! I plan on pursuing my complaints with the BBB, local news, consumer reports, and via word of mouth.
Bought my Kia Rio in 2000 from Bert Ogden in Mission Texas. Had problems with the car stopping while driving the car. Worst experience in the expressway. Then I also had the problems with sludge on motor which end in overhauling engine then had the same problem with the car stopping while driving. Still 2016 trying to getting it fix, new alternator, new starter, overhaul motor, new battery and still having the problem. It’s just a piece of junk. Dont recommend this vehicle at all. Will never buy any Kia vehicles.
I bought a car at Car Pros Kia. They never notified me that the car had a recall until I went for my first inspection after 3 months!!! I found out that the car that I bought was a DEMO and they never told me that. They sold it as a new car. I was so stressed out that I did not even see the miles that the car had on until the next day. I took a picture of it -- 75 miles that I did not drive!!! They wrote on my contract 8 miles!!! I trusted them and they took advantage of me. The warranty that I bought was supposed to take care of everything as the lady said from top to bottom, everything and anything and it is not true. My 3rd inspection, I will have to pay more than $400. On top of everything, they are rude. No courtesy at all. I called a sales manager called Rodrigo and he kept repeating that he was busy just because I said that I need to talk to him and he hang up on me!!! The only person that has my respect over there is the driver that took me to IKEA. Getting an attorney!
Well in May 2014 I purchased a brand new 2014 KIA Soul (27 miles) from KIA ALOHA AUTO GROUP. Also invested in their so called exterior/interior SIMONIZ glass coat protection plan that was an additional $995. So long story short it was in the evening that I took possession of my brand new 2014 KIA SOUL. All was great. I really didnt check out the exterior assuming it was a brand new 2014 vehicle. All should be good. Well upon waking the next morning getting ready to take the keikis for a cruise in our new ride of course kids are out before me and my oldest son comes inside and tells me Nice ride, mom. But is it brand new? I said Yes, you no see the paper plates? He said I do. Thats why Im asking how come get all kind surface scratches and all swirls/spider webs around the whole vehicle? So I came out and yes all kinds of surface scratches and swirls throughout the entire vehicle. So I said Well we will stop by the car lot on our way out. So we did. Manager there was so sarcastic and no customer service skills. Anyways when he came out he said Well whats wrong? I said Can you take a look at the entire exterior and tell me whats wrong? He looked and had no problems so I had to point out the swirls and scratches. He said Well did you purchase the Simoniz protection plan? I said yes, he said Then no worries. That will take everything out. Dummy me was satisfied with that answer until we were cruising and I said Wait a minute so if I never take the Simoniz plan and pay extra $995 then what? Thats the kind of exterior I going be dealing with? Hmmmmm. So I waited for appointment to do my Simoniz protection. Got the vehicle back, looked great but in 2 days swirls were back and scratches were back. So again I call manager I take vehicle to their service dept and then am told by the manager that because the vehicle is black thats normal for black vehicles. LOL are you serious? Now I brought it back to you the day after and you told me the Simoniz that I purchased would take care of it and now you telling me 2 months later that thats part of owning a black vehicle. The upkeep is hard and its normal BS... So I call ** on July 2, 2014 and another idiot on the other end, Tyrone **, been leaving him voice mails 4 times in July, spoke to him once in Sept, left several messages in early Sept throughout Oct and finally 10/27/14 he tells me he spoke to manager at car lot and he says nothing wrong but agrees that there is spider webs throughout the entire exterior of the vehicle. Anyone with similar problems can you please contact me at **. If you have a solution or have someone I can talk to for some assistance on getting the dealer to provide some kind of solution. I am thinking of taking vehicle to maybe a detail shop to see what they say. I did take it to Maaco here in Aiea but he couldnt help me said I should take it to a detail shop unless I wanted him to repaint my car then he could help me. He couldnt even tell me that thats not a common thing for brand new black vehicles.
I thought I found my dream car, but ended up having it for just 3 weeks. Two and a half weeks after purchasing, my battery went dead so I had it jumped and my boss checked the oil since the hood was open. He was totally shocked as there was absolutely no oil reading on the stick at all. We went and got a quart of oil and told me to immediately take it to the dealer. The dealer gave me a loaner car for the day so they could make sure there was no damage and said it was fine, topped it off with oil and said there was a loose wire on the battery. Three days later my husband drove the car to the store and called me and said he now knows where the oil is going... Its burning it. He said he saw a stream of smoke as he drove down the road. My first response was, this cant be... I am so in love with this car!! (Crazy I know!)I called the dealership and my husband took it straight there and they said a Kia dealer needs to look at it. Well, long story short and tons of phone calls to the Dealer and Kia Consumer Affairs, there was major sludge in the engine and the engine needed a replacement. According to Carfax, per Kia, there is no indication there was any maintenance to the car which resulted in the sludge. Ive never even heard the word sludge in regards to a car until this and now that Ive researched it... its an ongoing problem. Even though the car is still under the 60,000 mile warranty, Kia is not taking any responsibility and claims the dealer should have checked the car thoroughly before selling it to me. Kia also denied the warranty with this same problem on this car in July 2016 so the original owner traded it in for another victim to purchase and deal with this problem, which ultimately was me. Kia denies the warranty because of no proof of proper maintenance, but yet doesnt protect the next buyer with the sludge problem for this to happen again to an innocent buyer that was in search of a car. They claimed they didnt report things like that to Carfax. I stated, well maybe the owner did his own oil changes like my husband does and maybe it could be a defective problem. Of course there was no reason for them to listen to my plea or opinion. There was no reason for me to know there was any kind of problem. We checked the car out and everything looked great under the hood that we could see as well as the running of the car for the 3 weeks I had it. I just want to make it clear to the next buyer... Just because youre buying a car with a warranty it could have the word if behind it, so please be careful. Check the car fax, obviously its their certifiable proof of the maintenance of the vehicle, (its not just for wrecks anymore), read any lawsuits that are out there and for the lenders, be careful of what youre financing. If a car fax determines the maintenance of a car and a warranty that is not being honored because of it, you could be holding a title of a car that is not even on the road and end up in your parking lot broken down. Meanwhile, the consumers credit that they have worked on for years go to shambles. Personally, I believe over greed and deceit. Ive been without a car for 10 days now and unsure where all of this is going. Loved my car and so did my clients that I drove around. Its a shame how this was handled. I just hope I protect the next person on what to look at before purchasing what they believe has a warranty and is protected.
On 3/21/2014, I purchased a new kia cadenza. Two weeks after purchasing my 2014 kia cadenza, I noticed defect in the paint. I contacted Gossett Motor Cars, where I purchased my new kia. They contacted the corporate office. They buffed my new kia twice, and that was not successful. They then decided to want to paint only half of the car. With purchasing my 2014 kia brand new, I didnt think it was necessary to only paint half the car because this will affect my resale value, and Im totally dissatisfied!
I need my rotors resurfaced before I even need brakes at 20,000 miles. I went all the way up the ladder with Kia and they keep coming back with The warranty was only for 12k miles. The car should not have a problem with rotors already. Their reasoning is I could have driven through puddles which cooled down the rotors so then they heat back up and cause problems. And a bunch of other lousy excuses. Luckily, this 38k car is a lease and goes back in six months.
I first want to say I gave 1 star because it is required before submitting. I purchased my 2013 Kia Rio LX brand new at the end of 2013. I have had several problems. All four tires keep going flat. A squeaking noise every single time I drive it. The air conditioner not working correctly and has a foul smell when it is on. Recently, I went in for my 3000 mile oil change (so I could keep my warranty up-to-date) and I was informed of the following: the rotors, breaks and the housing for the breaks are rusted out. In addition, the tailpipe and the housing holding the tailpipe to the car rusted and the bolt holding on the timing chain and belt in the motor, yep RUSTED!This car was brand new when I purchased it at the end of 2013. When I contacted Kia and got a case number, they came back and said, this is normal wear. How can this be normal wear this car is about 3 years old. I would expect this from a car that was 6-10 years old. THIS is a public safety issue. IF any part of the brakes fall off while driving, this will cause an accident. IF the time belt/chain becomes unattached-this will cause an accident. If the tires leak too much air while driving or burst, this will cause an accident. In addition, there is a computer upgrade kit that should be installed in every car, however, since my car is NOT having issues that warrant the upgrade, then it is not available to me. My car does not have the light on or making the acceptable noises to get the upgrade. I have taken the car into the Kia Service Department, they state they can not pinpoint the slow leak issue with all 4 tires. They put air in them and cleared the sensor-but would not look into further or try to fix the issue. They did not fully inspect the air condition issue, because they did not have enough time. DID I MENTION THE CAR WAS THERE FOR 6 HOURS??? And the rust was normal wear. I do not care where you live in the US or Canada, a 3 year old car should not have rusted out like this car has. The 10 year/100K mile warranty is a scam! They have loopholes in every corner. I am disabled, have limited income and I got ripped off by Kia. I will NEVER EVER buy another Kia again!
I noticed about a year ago that my backseats were wet. I thought my child spilled water. However, they were really wet again about three weeks ago. Within the next couple of days the floorboards were soaked. It has rained a lot lately. Someone rarely sits back there so no telling how long this has been going on. I called the dealer and made an appointment on Friday for Monday morning. I was told I would need to pay an evaluation fee of $125.00. I have read that this is a problem with this car and other Fortes. They said it was the seal in the tail lights. Of course not covered by the warranty. They have replaced my tail lights in the past. How do I know that they did not cause this when they changed them. My car is so wet it fogs up and ice is on the windows in the mornings. They replaced the seals and sent me on my way ($230.00). I got home and noticed that the tire well (with no spare tire) was full of water. I cannot get this water out of my car. Also realized that my back windows will not roll down. I have done regular maintenance on this car at the dealer since I purchased it. You would have thought they would have noticed this when they do their inspections or when they changed the bulbs. I think they knew this was a problem with these cars. They should have done a recall or at least tell you they need to be replaced after a couple of years. Now my car is ruined and I will never get this mold out of my car. I purchased this car in April of 2013 (almost six years ago). While I was waiting for my car to get finished they had a salesman trying to get me to buy another car. He was trying to say that the sun caused the seals to go bad. Dont know what makes them think I would buy another Kia ever after this. I took it back to the dealer that night asking for suggestion on how to get all this dripping water out of my car. The back seats of rust stains now from the water. The trunk is growing mold under the carpet and on the well hole. They are suppose to call me back today. I have not heard a thing from them. They should have paid for this to be fixed. Had I brought it in the first time it would have been still under the warranty. I have been a loyal customer. I have replaced my tires twice there (which the first set went bad right after the warranty was out on them too). I have the weather mats in the car and in the trunk. I am in the trunk a lot. The mat was never wet. I had no reason to pull it up and look in and see that everything under it was wet and moldy. I did notice a mildew smell a few times in the car. A coworker asked me about a month ago if I had had any real problems with my car. If I had known about this I would have told him to stay away from Kia. I paid cash for this car and cannot afford to make payment on another one but if and when I can, IT WILL NOT BE A KIA. Shame on you Kia!!! I have seen several post about this problem on different websites. You know this is a problem and have done nothing about it.
2008 Sorento - Kia is just trying to wait me out on the warranty! I had it in four times on two different dealers. They replaced the hub but not the compressor and thats what is bad. Im within 6,000 of the end of the warranty. I have no doubt after reading all the other complaints about this year and the A/C problem that once Im over the 60,000, then they will say it needs to be replaced. I will never buy another Kia. A warranty is only as good as what they will back up and how well they honor it!
Kia produces an modern attractive array of vehicles at a lower price point than its competitors. My Cadenza is loaded with safety features and the latest technology available. It was priced below similarly featured imports in its class. Reliability is weakness for Kia. My 2 year old Cadenza has been serviced 3 times for major repairs. The warranty is excellent and covered all my cost for service, but could not compensate me for my inconvenience. Resale value is another factor that hurts Kia. Similar Toyotas, Hondas, and Subarus are superior in holding their value. Kias just dont seem to age well. Based on features and overall cost, I would recommend leasing a Kia for 3 years. I would not recommend buying The Kia Cadenza.
I was driving my car and the engine failed. It ignited on fire and was Total-ed. The fire department and police came and put the fire out. I filed a claim on the day of the accident (August 18) with my insurance company that I have progressive insurance with. They have consistently lied to me and will not give me answers. All I am told is that they are still investigating and keep telling me that they will find something out. It just never happens.Because of this, I dont have a car to use since the incident and this has caused me real stress. My car is under warranty so I need someone to help me out.
I purchased a 2012 Kia Sorento back in November of 2017. After seeing the vehicle had been well maintained on the Carfax and it had low mileage of around 75,000 I felt confident the vehicle would be a reliable long term purchase for me and my family. Now just months later in May 2018 the vehicle spontaneously shut down while driving last week. Fortunately for me I on road with parking lot I could safely roll into and stop. This may not be the case if this happens to another vehicle who may be on a high traffic interstate, high speed roadways, etc. After having it towed to the local Kia dealership I am being told it needs an entire new engine. After a little research, I noticed a Kia Sorento engine failure recall for 2012-2014 due to poor engine manufacturing assembly from leaving debris in engine. After contacting Kia consumer affairs I was told my VIN was not included in this recall. However, they settled on covering half of the $4,000+ repair. If they know they are at fault, why not pay repair in entirety? They claim it is not covered under a warranty and I am ‘fortunate’ they covered as much as they did. I just wanted to educate anyone looking to purchase a new or used vehicle. Steer clear of Kia or Hyundai products unless you can justify buying a new engine before 90,000 miles. I am now going on my THIRD week of having to pay for a rental vehicle because Sorento is still is not repaired. Between the weekly vehicle rental fees, time and hassle, towing fees and the unpronounced $2,000+ for an engine repair I am beyond frustrated at the lack of customer safety concern and service. Please share this to friends and family. Even if this helps just one person not have to go through this situation in the future it was worth my time writing and sharing it.
Yep, my paperwork from the dealer service center actually says the converter melted. They were unable to explain to me why this may have happened and only stated it was corrected now. Within the first 10 minutes of driving away from the dealership in heavy interstate traffic, I realized that sound was coming from my car. I immediately called the service center back to tell them the car now had engine noise that was not there previously and was told since it was the Friday before Labor Day to bring it back on Tuesday. Jump to Tuesday and after keeping my car all day, the service center decided that I probably needed an oil change even though it wasnt due. They then tried to tell me the technician recognized an 80% improvement in engine noise after the oil change was completed when there was no change in engine noise. After making yet another appointment with the dealer service center, I am informed that when the catalytic converter melted, debris was probably sucked up into the engine (which has less than 20k miles at this point) and they might be able to fix it or it may have to be replaced. Oh - but come and get my car and dont come back until I can provide them with service records showing that I have had the two required oil changes which were not performed by them. I am scanning and sending information that was requested yesterday today in hopes of..... I dont know what. I dont want to pay five more years on a car that has already been to the dealer going on five times (two by tow).
The KIA Soul is advertised to get 27-34 miles per gallon. I have owned my Soul for 2 months and have logged just under 3000 miles. I have it on the Economy Mode and am conservative about how I drive. But Im only averaging 23-25 miles per gallon. I drive to different locations, usually a 70-80 mile round trip, at least 50 miles of which is freeway. Needless to say, Im very disappointed with the mileage. Its not even hitting the low end of 27, and its nowhere near the expected highway mileage of 34 mpg.Now onto a totally different subject, the Mr. Sandman commercial. Sheesh. They objectify women and men. They show beautiful sexy women and big burly muscled men in super macho endeavors like sawing logs and fighting. So? Back to a real problem. My mileage isnt what the TV commercials or the window sticker represent. The only reason I was even looking at a new car was to increase my mileage - by at least 10 mpg - from my beloved Pontiac Aztek, which averages 20 mpg. Anyone else have this mileage shortfall with the KIA Soul?
My 2012 SX was a problem from the start. I brought it in a couple of months after I owned it for detonation noise/turbo rattle (sounds like marbles in a can) in the engine. Kia told me it was normal, and ignored it. Then, about 2 months later, the engine blew the spark plugs apart, and I lost almost all power. I limped it back to the dealership on what seemed like it was driving on 2 cylinders. Kia only replaced the spark plugs, even though they looked like they were melted - obvious detonation damage. Kia refused to do any other diagnostics, because, It runs fine now with new spark plugs. Not long after that, after hooking my small camper up (1,155 lbs), the engine completely failed while on the freeway. It blew a hole in one of the cylinders, and melted all of the spark plugs. Kia then claimed my camper was too heavy and refused the warranty, even though the vehicle is rated to tow 2,000 lbs. I hired an attorney, and it has been almost a year, and the state of Michigan had to step in to get them to come to the table! Its now the end of April, 2013, and my car has been dead since July of 2012. Do not buy a Kia!
BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE ONLY TWO YEARS AGO. IT HAS ONLY 69,000 KM. ON IT. On the way home from Saint John, it suddenly starts making a lot of racket under the hood. In pulling over to the shoulder of the road, the car stalls, will not even turn over! Just had the oil and filter changed the day before, so the first thing I do is check to make sure the oil level is O.K. The oil is fine. My wife and I had to walk back almost a mile to use a phone to call for a tow and a ride home.Long story short, THE ENGINE IS TOAST and because we were short two oil change receipts, they refused the warranty request! DEALER says a new motor will cost $15,000, so thats not happening! We have had the vehicle at the dealer for a month! In that time, they have ordered two used motors for us. The first never showed up, the second one, out of Quebec, wasnt fit to use. So now they have another motor ordered! How long do we have to put up with this crap? Is there nothing a consumer can do other than spend a fortune on lawyer fees?
My car, a 2009 Kia Rondo, had the right front wheel bearing go out at 69114 miles. It was replaced. I just had the left front wheel bearing replaced at 75977 miles. I have a problem with this because these should not have been a problem at this low mileage. I feel, as a safety issue, that Kia should repair the back ones also since the bearings were probably installed poorly to begin with. They wont do it.
With my new purchased 2016 Kia Sorento, the body lines do not match up where the drivers door meets!! The bottom half of the rear edge of the left front door sticks out and I couldnt get it fixed at your Lockwood Kia service. On 3 attempts even Kia Canada is involved... This is a big deal to me on a brand new $30k car.At the end despite their bumper to bumper warranty I am told that couple of inches is acceptable and there is nothing to do to correct it. How you can trust such a company if they are telling you it is acceptable to have problems on a brand new car. Is there anything acceptable on the brakes or engine? Stay away from Kia. They are a big scam.
I am currently looking to buy a Kia Sorento. Ive never own a Kia before. I was looking at one in particular that I really like. It is a 2013 Kia Sorento, 31K, 2.4L engine, LX. Last time my father and I look at the engine, some of the parts were very rusted, NOT the engine. If you are facing the hood of the car, this metal piece is located on your left, it is very rusted. The salespeople tells me its ok, its rusted due to Minnesota weather and all but I am not sure it should be in that condition. I really like this car but not sure if I should spend 18K on it.
I have a 2013 Kia Sorento. The paint is falling off and Kia wont do a ** thing about it. I payed 38k for this piece of **. Its the 3rd Kia I have owned. Never will buy this crap again. Kia you suck and I hope you go out of business. Rusty Wallace is the worst Kia dealer of all.
They gave me power of attorney to someone elses car!!! Im financing two vehicles. I got married & changed my last name. Dmv wont do a name change because I dont have the vehicle titles. Which is obvious. AAA & DMV both said financing company needs to do it. Kia refuses to do so. They sent me limited power of attorney for both cars for me to take to DMV to do by myself. Aside that DMV cant accept it. It actually turns out they sent me a power of attorney for someone elses car? Wth!!On top of that they tell me I need to wait another 10-14 business days to wait for it to be corrected. Plus I need to call back Monday, because its Friday evening & the department who issues this forms is closed. I have to call a 5th time to request a new & corrected power of attorney with my correct vehicle information. Plus send a written request for them to send the title to DMV. Which takes 10-14 days for the request. Horrible service & customer service. Worst finance company ever! Who sends out a power attorney to a strangers car. Scary that such information would be released like nothing and take no responsibility for such mistake. Violation of privacy and confidential information.
I purchased a 2011 Kia Soul on May 24th. I have received the New Vehicle Purchase & Delivery Survey. I have tried to log on to the website to fill out the questionnaire. I get on the website but the user ID & password sent to me doesn’t allow me to access the site. I have tried to get to your main website to report the matter to your customer service department but the website comes up not found.Any ideas on how I can complete the survey online will be most welcome. Thanks.
I bought a brand new Kia Carens in September 2009. From the start I had intermittent problems starting the car. At each service I asked the workshop to check the problem, and was consistently told that there was no problem. 2 weeks ago the car would not start at all. I bought a new battery, which helped for 1 day. The car was then with an auto electrician for 3 days and he could not find a fault. Eventually a key code showed, and with the spare key the car started. That only worked for 2 days. I then took it to Kia and they diagnosed that the electronic communicator from the key to the motor is faulty. How come they diagnose it now, but could not diagnose it for the past 3 years?? They wait until the warranty expires!! The quote to replace it is ZAR22,000.00!!! That is ludicrous. Is this a problem that anyone else has experienced with Kia?
