Pros & Cons

Generally praised as a strong-value EV featuring excellent range, modern tech, and thoughtful design

Criticism centers on the current Kia Connect infotainment, which feels dated—an improved version based on Android Automotive is expected in 2026.

In summary:
The 2025 Kia EV5 delivers balanced performance, flexible interior space, and next-gen tech, making it highly appealing—especially in the Canadian market. It’s a key part of Kia’s electric lineup expansion, offering a compelling alternative to models like the Tesla Model Y. I had made mention to the sales manager, Nick **, after I had purchased my KIA Soul (2013) new(!) that I had this rough idling when I am at a stop light and/or a stop sign. I was told to make an appointment with their Service Dept. which I did on Jan. 10th. At first, I was told they couldnt find the issue (just idling, not in gear), but I explained to them they need to be in gear, drive it, and at a light - this would follow in just a minute. They did say that it did do this, and did a diagnosis to see if they could pinpoint the issue. But having to see what KIA would come back with, Bert who did this, the Dealership Crown KIA Service Dept told Matt who contacted me, that this was a normal operation for this type of engine? And now, nothing, it seems to be direct on how this was going to end or follow up for a fix and/or repair? Case # is ** and the contact person Ive been dealing with is Melinda. The dealership now tells me there is nothing to do or repair according to KIA manufacturer. Ive driven other Souls at other dealership, and they dont do this? Im just asking to have this fixed, as this is not the way the car should run.

We bought our Kia Rio 4 years ago and is now on its 20k km. We have never had a major problem with the car. Its got enough power and speed when driving along an incline. Every 6 months, we see to it that we visit the service center and have it checked. When you look at it from the outside, it seems that its small and not spacious at all but when you are inside, the knee clearance is about 3/4 foot and could accommodate 4 people at the back sitting comfortably. On the other hand, I noticed that there are times when you press the gas, the car doesnt respond instantaneously (there is a split-second lag) or does not respond at all. So what I normally do is I press the break until the rpm gauge drops then I start from first gear and work my way up the next gear. Last night while cruising, there was a moment that I couldnt go to the next gear so I had to put the car on neutral, then drive mode, then it responded as it should. I hope that this is just normal to automatic transmission cars and doesnt become worse if ever this really is a problem. Ive seen on the road a new Kia Grand Carnival and it looks awesome. Im wondering how much it costs.

Last July we bought a new 2014 Sorento LX. Its a great vehicle, we love it except for one thing, the AM part of the radio sounds terrible. Its so fuzzy, raspy, its difficult to listen to. Ive taken it back to the dealer 3 times for service. The radio has been swapped out along with some circuit board at the base of the antenna. No change. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a fix for it?

Bought a 2015 Kia Soul. Great running car. Good fuel milage. Very responsive 2.0 motor. Seats are very comfortable. Lots of headroom. Found out there is a no spare tire. And I need to go to the dealer and get my oil changed. They want you to only use their oil filter. The car rides and handles great. Only problem with the car is the Road Noise. Took the Nexen tires off at 1500 miles and got a set of P7 Pirelli at Discount tire. It cut the noise in 1/2 but there is still a lot of noise. Got over 7000 miles in 6 months.

I bought my Kia Carens from new 08 reg. I have had problems one after anoth
I bought my Kia Carens from new 08 reg. I have had problems one after another with it. I have been complaining about the gear stick from almost the year I got the car. I got told it was the clutch that was the problem. I got a new clutch fitted but still got problems with changing the gears. I took it back and again got told it was my clutch. When I said it was a new clutch, I got told it must be fitted wrong, to take it back to the garage that fitted it. I did that and was told it was fitted okay. I took the car to another Kia dealer and they said it was the gear linkage and repaired it. A few days later, it started doing it again.I have told the Kia dealer that the gears are still not changing, that it jams. When trying to change gears, I have to turn off the engine and put it into gear before it will go. I still dont have that fixed. Then about two years ago, I got a noise coming from the engine. I took it back to the garage to get it fixed. It was the turbo that had blew. Three weeks later, I had the same trouble. I took it back again and got told the turbo had blown again, that it must have been a faulty turbo. Last Oct., I was at Aberdeen and the car stopped suddenly on the motorway. I had to get pushed into the side of the road by the police. I called the RAC out. The engine was flooded with oil. I was told that it was one of the fuel injectors that had gone. I had to hire a car to take me back home the next day and the RAC took my car back to Kia a few days later. I had to keep the hired car three weeks till I got mine back again. A new turbo was fitted. It turned out that it was the fuel injector leaking that was blowing the turbo. That was three turbos within a year that was fitted and every time my car is off the road, I have to hire a car as it is a disabled car and my husband was going through chemotherapy and I needed the car to take him to hospital. Now, I have a new problem with the electrics. I was out three weeks ago when my lights went out on the dashboard and the police were behind me and pulled me over. It turned out when the dashboard lights went out, so did my tail lights so I got a slip of paper from the police telling me I had been pulled over and I had 21 days to get the lights fixed. I phoned Kia and booked it in the next morning. I got told it would be Friday, 5 days after I was stopped. That was fine. I took the car in to get it fixed. It was in all morning. I got a call saying it was ready for pick up. I picked it up and was told it wasnt fixed. I had to wait for parts.I got a call later that day telling me it was booked in for Thursday. Last week, I got a call on Wednesday telling me not to take it in; the parts were still not in. I would get a call on Fri. telling me when to take it back to get fixed. I did not get the call. The car still hasnt been fixed and the 21 days the police gave me is up tomorrow. I had to call the police and explain that I am waiting for parts to come for it, and the garage cant stamp the slip till it has been fixed. Now I have to get a letter from Kia telling them that Im waiting for parts coming in. Thats 3 weeks Ive been waiting. I cant go out at night because if I touch the switch to indicate the lights go out. Its fine through the day when the lights are off. I will never buy another Kia car. It has been trouble since day one. If anyone asked me how I would rate Kia, I would say keep clear of them.

I bought a Kia Rio 2010. It only had 50,000 km on it. It was a standard and the first month I bought it, the entire transmission had to be replaced. Then the radio would stop working or my lights would not turn off. My brakes made a screeching sound since day one. Then on September 2nd, 2013, I had a car accident and rear ended a truck and totaled my car. Not one air bag imploded and as a result, I had a concoction and lost consciousness. Not one lawyer in Toronto wants to take my case and Kia has done nothing to help me out or the car insurance.

Kia does not care about safety!!! Car disabled 3 times!!! Hybrid system to second owner is under warranty until 60k. My first issue was cared for at 45k. The second on the same malfunction happened at 75k and returned the car back to me. Now the third time 85k and they won’t fix the issue but it’s the same one that never got fixed? How is this good customer care? You never fixed the issue. It is part of the hybrid system!Additionally it takes 10 plus days to get ahold of anyone! The first time I was on the freeway the car disabled leaving me stranded. Second time it disabled causing a car accident. The third time a month after the accident leaving me stuck again and now reporting a lemon. They won’t accept that the car is unsafe. Causing me to have to get a lawyer? Why can’t Kia just settle and give me a safe car/fix this one! I love this car but hate that I feel unsafe and am so sad I can’t ever bring myself to buy a new one because Kia Motors does not take safety serious!!! The car disabled 3 times! Does it really take someone dying or being seriously injured to actually care for this company? Can’t believe national and the executive team doesn’t want to improve the image of safety.

The electroluminescent speedometer isnt readable during daylight operation.
The electroluminescent speedometer isnt readable during daylight operation. This causes a very real safety situation when the driver has to take his eyes off the road for 3 or 4 seconds to figure out how fast he is going. The display is entirely programmable by Kia. They have chosen to show the speed by a small dark red marker against a black background. During daylight driving, you have to hunt for the marker. Put on sun glasses and it can take 5 or 6 seconds to find the marker. All that time you are not looking at the road.Simple program changes and software updates could easily solve this problem. - Make the marker longer and/or bigger; make the marker lighter red; make the marker white, or show the speed numerically in the center of the speedometer. All these could be driver selectable from the existing settings menu.Kia has been made aware of this problem since at least June 10, 2013 (case # ** customer service representatives Quinton and Robin). They are liable for accidents caused by this faulty product. The local Kia service people recognize the problem but only corporate Kia can fix it. Other than this safety issue, my $39,050 2014 Sorento Limited is perfectly assembled and excellently designed.Update: The local service people were told by Kia that they are working on the problem. That means Kia is selling vehicles with known safety issues.

I went into Kia for a recall on the engine Sept 2017. On Jan 2018 the engine dies out on me. I get the worse customer service in the world. I never get calls back. I made a complaint to an employee and he tells me it will be approved for a new engine and he will call me back by the end of the day to let me know when the loaner car is ready for me. 4 days later I get a call saying they have a rental car ready for me to pick up when Im ready. I go in to find out I have to pay $200 deposit out of my pockets. I dont understand how my car engine blows out because of the recall and now I have to pay $200 for a rental car? Kia should provide me with a loaner car or pay that themselves.

Purchased a 2014 Kia Sorento in May 2013 and due to a storm it was immediately unable to be driven. This is when I found out that there are no parts in the US to repair the vehicle. They said it is made in the US but all the parts are in Korea...figure that one out. Calls to KIA corporate are not returned. KIAs website will not let you complete their form and submit it as I tried from 3 different computers. If you are considering a Korean vehicle, think again.

I purchased one of the first 2011 Sorento vehicles. It has the worst ride an SUV could have. It is so rough that it is hard to keep it on the road when I drive it. They upgraded the shocks in the 4th quarter on all the newer Sorento. They tell me they have no plans of upgrading the old ones. This is not right! They know that there is a problem if they updated the new ones. They need to take care of their customers.

I noticed about a year ago that my backseats were wet. I thought my child spilled water. However, they were really wet again about three weeks ago. Within the next couple of days the floorboards were soaked. It has rained a lot lately. Someone rarely sits back there so no telling how long this has been going on. I called the dealer and made an appointment on Friday for Monday morning. I was told I would need to pay an evaluation fee of $125.00. I have read that this is a problem with this car and other Fortes. They said it was the seal in the tail lights. Of course not covered by the warranty. They have replaced my tail lights in the past. How do I know that they did not cause this when they changed them. My car is so wet it fogs up and ice is on the windows in the mornings. They replaced the seals and sent me on my way ($230.00). I got home and noticed that the tire well (with no spare tire) was full of water. I cannot get this water out of my car. Also realized that my back windows will not roll down. I have done regular maintenance on this car at the dealer since I purchased it. You would have thought they would have noticed this when they do their inspections or when they changed the bulbs. I think they knew this was a problem with these cars. They should have done a recall or at least tell you they need to be replaced after a couple of years. Now my car is ruined and I will never get this mold out of my car. I purchased this car in April of 2013 (almost six years ago). While I was waiting for my car to get finished they had a salesman trying to get me to buy another car. He was trying to say that the sun caused the seals to go bad. Dont know what makes them think I would buy another Kia ever after this. I took it back to the dealer that night asking for suggestion on how to get all this dripping water out of my car. The back seats of rust stains now from the water. The trunk is growing mold under the carpet and on the well hole. They are suppose to call me back today. I have not heard a thing from them. They should have paid for this to be fixed. Had I brought it in the first time it would have been still under the warranty. I have been a loyal customer. I have replaced my tires twice there (which the first set went bad right after the warranty was out on them too). I have the weather mats in the car and in the trunk. I am in the trunk a lot. The mat was never wet. I had no reason to pull it up and look in and see that everything under it was wet and moldy. I did notice a mildew smell a few times in the car. A coworker asked me about a month ago if I had had any real problems with my car. If I had known about this I would have told him to stay away from Kia. I paid cash for this car and cannot afford to make payment on another one but if and when I can, IT WILL NOT BE A KIA. Shame on you Kia!!! I have seen several post about this problem on different websites. You know this is a problem and have done nothing about it.

We bought a new Kia Soul from Doug Smith Kia in American Fork, UT on Dec 31
We bought a new Kia Soul from Doug Smith Kia in American Fork, UT on Dec 31, 2014. Drove home to Texas and noticed a rhythmic, vibrating, humming noise when we cruised at highway speeds. Possibly this is some kind of harmonic balance problem. It has gotten a bit worse as we have driven the car. It now has 2000 miles on the odometer. Took the car to local Kia dealer in Amarillo, Tx, Petes Car Smart, and although the two head mechanics rode with me and clearly heard and felt the problem, they could not make a diagnosis. They had the car for three days, said they had calls into the Kia engineering tech dept., but could not get help. They had me drive another brand new Soul right off of the truck, and it did the same thing. The head mechanic rode with me and he heard and felt it, too. We are not sure what course of action to take now.

I have gotten no help or updates from either the Moritz Kia in Hurst or heard back from anyone from your office. Im now being told by the dealership (18 Sep, 2015) that the vehicle is not cover under the 100k miles warranty! I would need to pay $1999.94 to get my car out. Why was this information not convey to me prior to all this work and time being spent on the car? If this was communicated to me ahead of time, I would have had my local mechanic correct your issue in less than a week for less the half the price. When the mechanic opened the hood did he not noticed the radiator had been replaced?Just so I have the sequence of event correctly stated: 02 August 2015, my vehicle overheated, with all ORIGINAL equipment. I have towing receipt. Vehicle has been in dealership since 05 August. 21 September 2015, I was told KIA will not Honor 100K mile warranty because I had replaced the original radiator that had leaked (AFTER the engine overheated). I never experienced such bad customer service. Bad practice... First and last time I will buy a KIA.

I own a 2016 Kia Soul with only 650 miles on it, purchased 10-15-15. I purchased it with 8 miles on it but after 3 weeks of ownership, I HATE IT! Kia sucks and they should be bought and sold off to the lowest bidder. From day one after I put $5000 down on this piece of ** it has been acting weird and I cant return it without losing my Fn cash down payment. These are the problems I experienced so far... It gets poor gas mileage - not as advertised. Only gets 21 city and 25 hwy in a 1.6 liter 130 horse power 4 cylinder moped engine. It shifts funny. It takes off when you press the gas kind of shaky/jerky and rough. The braking in it is awful and jerks at the end of a stop. The road noise and engine noise is annoying and LOUD. The idling at a stop sign or traffic light is much the same as a Harley motorcycle - shaky as hell. The dome lights cuts off when they want to and finally the pick up/take off is slower than a riding lawn mower and just as sketchy. My biggest problem is I was told 1 week after I purchased the car, all new cars will come with backup camera which only the exclaim and plus had and when I went over to look at the new 2016s they all had tinted windows, backup cameras and touch screen display...1 fn week after I got mine and the dealers knew this before they sold me this piece of ** with no tint, camera or touch screen for the same price I would have paid for the additions. Im stuck with this ** and I cant do a thing. There should be a law against selling people lemons and wasting their time having to get a brand damned new car fixed. I thought I found my dream car, but ended up having it for just 3 weeks. Two and a half weeks after purchasing, my battery went dead so I had it jumped and my boss checked the oil since the hood was open. He was totally shocked as there was absolutely no oil reading on the stick at all. We went and got a quart of oil and told me to immediately take it to the dealer. The dealer gave me a loaner car for the day so they could make sure there was no damage and said it was fine, topped it off with oil and said there was a loose wire on the battery. Three days later my husband drove the car to the store and called me and said he now knows where the oil is going... Its burning it. He said he saw a stream of smoke as he drove down the road. My first response was, this cant be... I am so in love with this car!! (Crazy I know!)I called the dealership and my husband took it straight there and they said a Kia dealer needs to look at it. Well, long story short and tons of phone calls to the Dealer and Kia Consumer Affairs, there was major sludge in the engine and the engine needed a replacement. According to Carfax, per Kia, there is no indication there was any maintenance to the car which resulted in the sludge. Ive never even heard the word sludge in regards to a car until this and now that Ive researched it... its an ongoing problem. Even though the car is still under the 60,000 mile warranty, Kia is not taking any responsibility and claims the dealer should have checked the car thoroughly before selling it to me. Kia also denied the warranty with this same problem on this car in July 2016 so the original owner traded it in for another victim to purchase and deal with this problem, which ultimately was me. Kia denies the warranty because of no proof of proper maintenance, but yet doesnt protect the next buyer with the sludge problem for this to happen again to an innocent buyer that was in search of a car. They claimed they didnt report things like that to Carfax. I stated, well maybe the owner did his own oil changes like my husband does and maybe it could be a defective problem. Of course there was no reason for them to listen to my plea or opinion. There was no reason for me to know there was any kind of problem. We checked the car out and everything looked great under the hood that we could see as well as the running of the car for the 3 weeks I had it. I just want to make it clear to the next buyer... Just because youre buying a car with a warranty it could have the word if behind it, so please be careful. Check the car fax, obviously its their certifiable proof of the maintenance of the vehicle, (its not just for wrecks anymore), read any lawsuits that are out there and for the lenders, be careful of what youre financing. If a car fax determines the maintenance of a car and a warranty that is not being honored because of it, you could be holding a title of a car that is not even on the road and end up in your parking lot broken down. Meanwhile, the consumers credit that they have worked on for years go to shambles. Personally, I believe over greed and deceit. Ive been without a car for 10 days now and unsure where all of this is going. Loved my car and so did my clients that I drove around. Its a shame how this was handled. I just hope I protect the next person on what to look at before purchasing what they believe has a warranty and is protected.

My daughter was driving a 2005 Kia Sorento on the freeway when you got off an exit and just when she did she lost power steering, brake light and oil light went on. Luckily she had just got off the freeway or it could have been a very bad outcome. I am trying to find anyone who may have had a problem with this during the 2017 year (but missed the class action suit). I called Kia consumer line and they were nice at first. As soon the a case manager got my case, she completely back peddled and told me not only do I have to tow it, I have to pay for the diagnostics as well and probably to fix it too since its passed the warranty.I cant find a recall on the crank shaft pulley but I heard there was a voluntary recall. If anyone received a letter from Kia about the crank shaft bolt or anything similar for their Kia Sorento please let me know. I need something to hold them accountable. Just like many other forums Ive seen, they are washing their hands off it. Also willing to start a lawsuit with others as well.

My elderly grandparents KIA Rondo just threw the connecting rods at 123,000 kms. Garage said its the 7th KIA they have had in within a year with similar low kilometer shot engines. Contacted KIA customer relations to see if this is a known flaw and all they had to say (paraphrased) was you had a warranty for 100,000 kms, so we fulfilled our obligations. Has anyone else had a car that was essentially useless after only 120,000 kms? Looks like I am headed back to the domestics, I cant fathom wasting money on a new car that will be useless that fast.

So in 2013 I get a brand new Kia Forte EX with 42 on the OD. I’m thinking it’s the stuff blue tooth, power windows, all the goodies including satellite radio. The guys at the dealership told me, after 6months trade it in, I love it so much I didn’t and now I’m stuck with it. Now it’s 2019, since 2015 I’ve been having to change out headlights, brake lights, tail lights, two batteries in 2019, and get this about 6 months ago I started smelling a burning smell, well turns out the backlight in back windshield the bulb to it had exploded and the wire had started to burn. That ain’t even the half of it, since 2016, the lights come on by themselves at night. I picked it up on my house camera I have outside. They just came on, and since 2014 acquiring signal regardless of it being satellite am or fm or a cd. And it don’t stop there, LOL. Omg I could cry and rip my hair out. The speakers go in and out and crackle. The door seals leak. When I turn my steering wheel or put on the turn signal radio acquires signal, cheap interiors that don’t withstand anything. The drivers seat gets hard after a few years too. The lights flicker when I drive sometimes, a big electrical problem... One that goes through the whole car and is a very expensive fix. Oh and wait my shift knob broke. It broke! How does that happen? Cheap paint, this is cheap, an overly cheap car for what they ask for them. When I use my AC, the brakes act like they don’t want to work. I put the car in park once and when I got ready to get out it started to roll back. And guess what the dealership has changed out fuses and harnesses and other stuff re the lights but somehow can’t reproduce the other stuff so I started making videos and keeping the ones from my security system. Even after an oil change I get nasty smells coming into the car. They even changed the filters. I pray my next car won’t be a Kia. And the gas mileage it’s horrible. Don’t fool yourselves.

I have a 2015 Kia K 900. It was 8 months since I purchased from Kia Escondido, I had about 5k miles on it when I was hit on the driver side at the rear quarter panel/back passenger door. I was pushed into a center divide and my entire front Qtr Panel and front end was demolished. NOT 1 AIRBAG DEPLOYED!! I called Kia and their engineers went out to study/test/read the circuit board to get all logistics at time of impact. They went to investigate the car more than once (car was at the auto body shop) and Kia would not release the car to been inspected by my Mercury Insurance to assess damage. The car sat at Tag Collision center for 51 days before they let Mercury assess the damage. The car was totaled out by Mercury and the engineers from Kia said that the airbags did not deploy because there were not enough factors involved for them to deploy. I personally was more concerned that considering where and how I was hit that if I had passengers in the back seat that there would have been skulls hitting the door window (place of impact). I figured that Kia would want to know in case they needed to do a recall on the K 900s to protect lives in future accidents. Kia did not allow me to see the report or tell me exactly what factors were involved to as why the airbags did not deploy. But the whole thing raised a red flag when they kept telling Mercury that the car was not ready to be inspected??? Im just a puzzled and concerned consumer who received no answers but instead a big storage bill from Tag Collision, no thanks to Kias control of when Mercury Insurance could do their job in a timely manner. Kia offered to sell me another K 900 but I just cant considering I would not feel safe or maybe be as lucky to escape injury if I were to get into another accident where if the airbags did not deploy and was extremely hurt instead of protected. This is for Kia to take notice and for there to be a record that Kia not only knew of this airbag situation but that there was an investigation done and a report on file (just in case there are future issues with consumers regarding this topic).

I took my 2011 Kia Sorento to dealership in Charleston many times many months ago for them to fix my extra key, it would not lock or unlock my car. They never fixed it and finally said I was no longer under warranty!! Now I have problems with warning lights on dashboard and local service rep, not Kia dealer, said it was rear wheel hubs with ABS sensors that needed replacement. He also told me he called Kia dealer and they were backordered with so many orders. He questioned why there was not a recall since there so many people with this problem. Called Kia dealer this morning to check on this and said my warranty expired 6 mos. ago and that it would cost me $1080 for repairs! Why not a recall?

My 2016 Kia Sorento seized on 8/16/19... stopped in the middle of the highway. No lights, no sounds, nothing. Did some investigating and it was out of oil. Just had it changed on 6/7/19. Dealership is refusing to honor the lifetime warranty. Again, no lights, no warning, no nothing. 5.5 quarts of oil went somewhere in two months. Or at least thats what was SUPPOSED to be in there. There are several class action lawsuits pending as well regarding this issue & similar things. Dont be fooled.

We purchased this vehicle in April of 2017 and have regretted our purchase because of the numerous issues. We have wasted many hours trying to get warranty repairs on faulty brakes and electrical system problems and are still trying. Not only does this hybrid have very poor gas mileage and many strange glitches, it is also very difficult to get any service done as each of the dealerships only staff 1 hybrid technician. We have been to 3 different dealerships and in communication with the corporate office about a recurring abs system malfunction that they cannot figure out how to fix. It is extremely unsettling to have a check brakes alert pop up 2-3 times a month on a car that is still under warranty and extremely frustrating to be unable to get this company to stand behind their product and fix a potentially life-threatening problem. Protect your family by not buying a KIA!

On 11/25/18 I purchased a vehicle from KIA of Irvine. They totally scammed me on the service and maintenance contracts and also the theft deterrent on the car. They went as far as to fraudulently forged my signatures on the maintenance and service contracts. Those two added up to $4000.00, they also snuck in $1495.00 for the theft. So a total of $5495.00 added to my contract without my knowledge of it. The people that work in finance are nothing less than thieves and liars. None. And for you people that work in sales your hands arent clean either. You might not be directly involved in the fraud and the Payment Packing that is being used in finance, all of you most definitely are aware of whats going on over there in finance. When you guys forged my signature on those two contracts, you then submitted them for payment and then received payment for them. That is fraud!! And I am 100% convinced that the owner of this dealership has got to be aware of the practices being used there to commit fraud to scam their customers out of money. HE KNOWS. Every one in sales and finance are all thiefs and I assure you, that you will get what you have coming.

Traded in 2012 Kia for 2014 KIA at Jeff Belzers Lakeville MN. They brought the 2014 to my home. On January 22nd 2015, KIA had loud tick to the motor. Contacted Jeff Belzers the following day. They gave me no help said they would get back to me. I had to climb the ladder. Still no help on the issue. On February 9th I took it in to Bill Barth of Mandan. They contacted KIA, ran the tests that was necessary, the KIA only had 1000 miles on it, was a brand new 2014 Kia. Came back they found that the motor wasnt bored out and cleaned out right. So the motor has to be changed out and replaced. Been calling KIA affairs since January 13th 2015 now it is January 27th still the run around. Being passed through their agents having a car that Im paying for that I cant drive. It has been over a month so KIA customer affairs are no help. They arent doing the job for the customer.

My husband and I used a premium Oil Filter (Not Kia), and a few weeks later had a knocking in the engine. I took the car to a shop up the street and was told that since we used an oil filter that was not Kia, the filter caused metal in the engine which now needs to be replaced. I called Kia Consumer affairs and explained the issue. With all the information that was sent to me in 6 years, not one piece stated that you are required to use a Kia Oil Filter. The shop that I originally took the car to had to do some research and stated that there are bulletins out that are only around 2 years old. While speaking with Consumer Affairs, I was told that the car needed to go to a Kia Dealer to be diagnosed. I then had the car towed to a local dealer which stated the same thing. Now, the kicker, they will not help in fixing the engine because I am over the 100,000-mile mark. On top of that, I am now charged a tow bill and more diagnostic fees on top of what I already paid in which they will not pay for either (since they required the car to be at a dealer for assistance). I call and call and call the Consumer Affairs lady that I have been working with, and she will not return my call until I call the 800 number and tell them I need to speak to someone or I will be going to the local media as well as any social media avenue I can. The dealer that I purchased the car from will also not honor the Engine for Life that I signed unless I can provide all receipts from the last 5 years on any maintenance that I did on the car outside of a dealer (air filter, etc). I have recently been married and the account closed. AND - who keeps their receipts for 5 years on Air Filters?? This is not only poor customer service for a loyal consumer, but the lack of follow through with what you agreed to and signed upon purchase not being honored. Other Kia owners that I have spoken with are also not Aware outside of 1 to only use Kia Oil Filters.

I am writing about not only the troubleshooting of my vehicles (2008 Kia Amante) problem but also the quality of the maintenance. I will explain the events and concerns I have on the service and maintenance I received that I think were too costly, caused me to break down, several trips to the dealership that cause me unnecessary delays, missed family functions and wasted time. I had problems with my cars having a rough start which was out of context for this vehicle. I have never had problems in the past and it started up immediately upon turning the ignition. I made the call that it was the battery and decide to take it to the nearest Kia dealership (Pat Peck Kia) because I was new to the area and wanted to establish a relationship.I made the appointment (0800-24 July 2013) and upon arrival discussed the problem with person at the desk. I told the service advisor that my concern was the battery and she told me it could not be that? I said okay and they took it back to troubleshoot. I sat for 3 hours before she came back to tell me that the mechanics best choice after evaluation was that the TPS Sensor was bad. I was hesitant to accept this because I had no fuel/engine problems whatsoever but that it was hesitant to start. Again, I said I thought it was the battery going out. She informed me that they would order the part (cost: $362) and that I could wait for it. After another 1 hour she came back to tell me that they had to order the part and that they would call me when it came in. They said the work would take 1 hour.I received a call that the part came in and made the appointment to get the work done on 30 July @ 7:45 figuring the earlier the better. This time I had to wait for almost 5 hours. She came to tell me that the delay was due to the fact that the battery needs to be recharged. I asked if they should just change the battery and she said no they charged it up. Sorry but at this point I am VERY unhappy and dont really have the warm fuzzy that my car is fixed. I pay the bill, accept my car. The cost was $519 and the service advisor acted like I was getting a deal. I did not feel that way.The next day (31 July), I get in the car and it is doing the exact same thing. I am thinking that I just spent $519 and nothing has changed. I am scheduled at this time to go to a family luncheon and I did not feel safe that my car will get me there and back. At this point I am away from home, the car is off and when I try it will not start. Dead! I call the dealership and they said to have it towed. I elect to try to call my wife to come help me. I get the car started and take it to the dealership. They say that they will change the battery and that cost me another $50.42. I told them that I had a battery problem from the beginning. Now it brings into question the TPS sensor failure. I have been VERY pleased with my Kia Amante and would not trade it. I am very unhappy with the events that took place, the troubleshooting, repairs, cost and lost time.

My wife was in an accident on Monday, 10/31/11 on Hwy 741 and her car was totaled out. My wife has developed pain in her neck and back area, now her chest. During this accident, none of the airbags deployed at all. We had a wrecker driver take our car to a body shop in Forney, Texas and the manager showed us 5 other cars that were Kia that had the same problem to where the airbags havent deployed. Is this a defect in the system? My wife could have been in a very serious situation or even killed in this accident. We put our trust in these cars when we purchased them from the dealerships and later we found out that they are not working properly.

Thinking it was normal warranty work, I went to Pence KIA to get my 2010 Kia Soul (with a little over 30,000 miles) have its rear wiper motor looked at for a grinding noise it was making. I was told that it was an adjustment and lubrication issue and is not warranty covered. KIA installed a motor on the car with admitted insufficient grease inside the motor and would be deemed a defective manufacturing issue. Now, they do not want to honor their obligation under their warranty saying it is an adjustment and lubrication issue, which I need to pay for. Below is the TBS issued by KIA where they admit to insufficient grease inside the wiper motor.“Visibility: rear window wiper/washer: Kia: service action - rear wiper squeal noise repair (sa026). KIA in Mentor, Ohio advertised: Drive home a used vehicle for $199. Not $199 a month or $199 down. For $199. The ad goes on to say how much they have marked down their KIAs. Well, when I went in twice, after I heard the ad, a month apart, for the $199 cars, the salesman looked at me like Im crazy. I told him what his ad said. He said, Well, we have 2 maybe. One needs a motor; the other, a tranny. Each time I went there, I was told the same thing. He didnt say Oh, I had 10, and we sold them. He looked at me with a smirk on his face. This is false and misleading advertising! I have again heard this ad 2 weeks ago.

I own a 2012 Kia Soul and as Ive read previously in a Sorento post, my engine also went out. I was on the interstate with my grandson going about 75 mph when I heard a loud knock, my dashboard lights all flickered like Christmas lights, and my car stalled. Luckily, I was able to pull over from the fast lane to the side of the road. Kia has had my car for 3 weeks. The dealership and I have called headquarters multiple times with no response from my case manager. No one has provided me with a rental car. I have to pay for a rental out of my own pocket. I dont see my make or model on the recall list but I obviously have the same engine issue as the other Kias. My car barely has 100,000 on it. It just flipped like the week or 2 before the engine went out.

I bought my 2014 Kia Soul Plus brand new. It only had 5k miles on it when I purchase it. I have had nothing but issues with the gas mileage for this vehicle and have complained to the car dealership that I bought the car from several times. It had gotten so bad in fact that at one point, everytime I filled the tank I took pictures of the on dash information and wrote the mileage on my gas receipts to prove to Kia that this is in fact a problem. The estimated gas mileage for this car is supposed to be around 23 miles to the gallon in the city. I am lucky if I am getting 15 mpg.Point in case I filled the car completely up on Monday. Went 100 miles in the car and had to fill it up again the next day! Now I dont mean it was sitting at a half or a 1/4 when I had to refill, I mean the gas light was on. There was 5 lines across the dash that displays the gas average. I took it into Kia this morning only to be told there is nothing wrong with it, just as they have told me for the past 5 months of owning this car. This is an on going problem for sure. The range on the gas meter will read a different amount each time it is filled. One moment it may say that I have 283 miles until empty, then the next fill up it will tell me I have 227 miles to empty. I am not sure what is going on here and KIA will not allow me to take it to another mechanic shop. If I do they say they will void all of my warranties that I purchased. So I am stuck with a gas guzzling lemon. What do I do?

Dec 2017 after 2 years of owning my car and 69000 miles my engine seized. This is a 2012 Kia Sorento. Ive argued with Kia dealership and Kia itself that I find it ridiculous that a car so new that the engine died all of a sudden. I was driving on a very busy road and it just stopped. No lights came on or anything. I was accused several times that it was my fault that there was sludge in the engine. I have corrected them each time that I have receipts of oil changes and not by their company. They wanted to charge me money for a diagnostic test that they never did until I disputed that and they waived the fee. I was forced to either pay over 5 grand for a new engine or I was almost convinced a few times to voluntarily repo my car and start new again with them by purchasing a new car. I still have 4 years left to pay off my car and in good faith I still going to try my best. I received a loan from my job and paid the rest. I have investigated before the fix and disputed that there is many other Kia engines failing and that Kia placed blame on the owners for not maintaining their cars for sludge being in the engines. I then read that there was an engine recall for the same issues but my VIN is not listed. Ive tried to bring this up to Kia that I find it a coincidence that my car has failed the same exact way as all of these other Kia engines. I believe that Kia is nothing but crooks and I will never deal with them again. They should pay for all of these faulty engines. 3 weeks after I replaced my engine I started leaking antifreeze. My Kia said theyd help me with coupons since I just did a huge service with them... 25$ coupon. Yeah thanks but no thanks for the help. I had to pay another 309$. I dont feel safe in my car. Oh and I forgot to mention that Kia neglected to tell me that the warranty on the used Kia engine is only for 90 days. I am disgusted the way that whole company treats their customers when it is us who gives them their paying jobs. As I said a bunch of crooks. My junker cars have lasted longer than this car. What is sad is I loved my car. At first it was great. Everything was working great. Then the engine went. Kia never told me about their common engine issues. I found this out myself and when I confronted them about it. They were all hush hush about it. After this car dies I will never again give my money to Kia.

I purchased my 3rd Kia in Sept 2021. A 2022 Stinger GT. I found out on Friday, 12/31/21 that the transmission needs to be replaced. (Less than 8k miles). My appt was at 11am and they were closing at 4pm that day. By 3pm, when I had still not heard anything from my Service Advisor, I went back up to the dealership. The car wasnt currently being looked at or worked on, and yet no one had bothered to call and deliver the awful news. Nor did they even attempt to call the Tech Line and get authorization for a rental car. This was on a Friday, so I was without my car over the weekend. I called my Service Advisor back on Monday morning at 9:30 am (knowing he wouldnt be reaching out to me first). I was then told that the tech line doesnt open until 11am our time and they will have to authorize a rental car. But Hertz may not have anything available. I will NEVER purchase another Kia, that is for sure.

Kia brand vehicle has to many mechanical issues, especially if the car is used. Those made before 2017 all have the same issues, and are NOT recommended as a good car in Consumer Report magazine. The 2 wheel drive models are too loose on the road and difficult to control. I actually had to change the way I drove since I always had a 4 wheel drive previously to my Kia purchase. The car is light despite its size and in a strong wind will move across the road so you have to fight to keep control or weigh down the back of the vehicle with sand or Kitty Liter in the back trunk.

Two weeks ago we purchased a new 2014 Kia Soul +. And less than 48 hrs/200 miles later, a loud clunk noise occurred at 45 mph, causing the vehicle to jump, and thereafter was stuck in 4th gear. The dealer replaced a computer module that controls the transmission. Had to drive a loaner for 5 days then got repaired Kia back... Within 24 hrs/60 miles, the same clunk, again stuck in 4th gear. The service dept guy told me there was nothing for them to look at unless the check engine light was on.. so I continued on to work, driving 45 mph on 4-lane highway for 35 miles :( . The check engine light did eventually come on. Back to the service dept, where they said they needed to reset the system with the new module. After another 2 days of driving a loaner, picked up the (repaired) Soul within 36 hrs/70 miles, another clunk and stuck in 4th gear. I should mention that the clunk feels like the equivalent of driving over a speed bump at 45 mph.. it jars the entire vehicle and causes me to have a startle response.. I believe there MUST be damage occurring. My Soul+ is again back at the dealer, for what the service guy said would likely be several days.. He also said he had no idea why it was malfunctioning. I believe the dealer should replace the car.. It was NOT sound when I bought it.. I dont trust driving it not knowing when it might malfunction again. If I happened to be in heavy traffic when it happens again, I could very well have an accident due to the startling nature of the event. I am paying for a brand new vehicle purchased 13 days ago, that I have driven for less than 5 days AND in Illinois. This vehicle is nearly covered by the Lemon Law.. just one more failed repair attempt and were there :(

I have owned my Kia since May 2006 had it now for a little over five years. I too, like many other, called Kia consumer assistance line the first few weeks after purchasing the car from Kia Country in South Carolina. Like everyone else, I thought I got a deal and the sales people were really nice too, until you sign the paperwork and they put the keys in your hand. That is when all of the problems begin.I complained of the paint peeling. They told me that there was nothing that they could do, so I let it go because it wasnt very noticeable, but that was my mistake. After that, more and more problems began to occur like the blinker lights blow out every couple of months. Twice, they blow out at the end of the drive way. I brought my car right back to them and all they did was replace it, but the very last time, I refused to take my car back until they did some further investigation. They did, and the results were that they had a short, so I went. After another couple of months, they blew out again. The air bag light comes on and goes off. They were supposed to fix it again, but like everything Kia supposedly fixed, doesnt last very long but only a few months. My chamber and chassis cannot be aligned per tires, plus I brought the 3 year alignment when I purchased new tires from them last year, but have never had a proper alignment. They suggested that I take it to the dealer. I took it to the dealer in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011. All of these existing problems, the dealer did not fix or dont want to produce paper for.Now that the warranty is no longer effective, they want me to pay for all of the problems that were never addressed by corporate or the dealer Stokes Hodges Kia of Augusta, GA customer service. They have had about 4 or 5 managers since the purchase of my car. I was considering buying another Kia some time ago, but with the many ongoing problems I had with my Kia, I would never buy another Kia ever in life. You have poor customer service. You guys have left a bad taste in my mouth. I want rest until justice is serviced.

The vehicle has 36,000 miles on it with the overwhelming majority of the mileage on the interstate. I do not travel on dirt or gravel roads. What is up with these alignment issues?

I purchased a 2014 Kia Sorrento brand new. After the warranty expired around 130,000 miles, my engine blew a rod and destroyed my engine to a point where it needed a new engine. I just had $8,000 in repairs on the engine done 4 months prior to this happening. The dealership (Cronin Kia, Harrison, Ohio) said it wasnt related to the work that was done 4 months prior. HIGHLY suspect of that. I called Kia Consumer Affairs and put in my complaint and made a claim. They said it would take 24-48 hours to get an answer to see if Kia will put in a Good Will towards replacing my engine. After calling them every other day to get an answer, THREE weeks later they said there is nothing that they will do for. WORST car ever! Worst experience EVER! I will never buy a Kia EVER AGAIN! And Ill be sure to let the thousands of people I personally know that to never but a Kia ever again!

I purchased a 2018 Kia Stinger the end of June 2018 and have had nothing but grief since the purchase. Presently the car has 3200 miles on it and has been in the garage multiple times. Ive made several trips to the dealer for a trunk rattle in which they had to put shims in the slam block in the hatch to resolve the problem. Then it was back in the garage because the interior lights quit working. And several weeks ago I backed it out of the garage and shut the car off for a brief time waiting for my husband to get into the car and when he went to start the car all the lights started flashing and the car would not start and the car would not recognize that the key fob was present. I immediately called the Kia dealer and the service manager went home for the evening and no techs available but was advised to have the car towed to Kia or call roadside assistance. This episode caused us to be late for an appointment. To make a long story short the battery had to be replaced the next day interfering with plans that were made for the day. Today my car is @ the dealership once AGAIN for them to monitor a violent jerk in the car which has occurred several times and was told the fuel pump will probably need replaced! They will be keeping the car for several days. Id like to note that I have to drive 35 miles one way to the Kia dealership. A new car is suppose to be a pleasurable satisfying experience and an investment in my hard earned money. This experience of owning my first Kia has been a nightmare causing me inconvenience, stress and grief. I regret the purchase and it was not a cheap purchase. No vehicle with this amount of mileage should have so many issues like I have had. Im making payments on a car that sits in a garage being repaired every month. I often wonder how much this unreliable car will cost me in the future when warranty runs out. Id like to note on the positive side that Kias service department has been awesome through this ordeal and has expressed concern and understanding with my frustrations and their customer service at Team Kia in Johnstown, Pa. is first class.

I purchased at 2012 Kia Rio with 96k Miles on it. I had a certified Mechanic Run the Codes on it. Nothing was coming up however this car still has engine issues. I search the internet and no one can explain why it sounds like a hammer and anvil going down the road. One foreign guy pointed out aluminum shavings in the oil pan and explained he measured the pistons to be too short and causing undue wear and tear. I even have a check engine light that goes on and off before I can check the reason why. As it turns out even back within 5 years from 2012 new buyers could not get this issue resolved with Kia Offical dealers. Im stuck with this car. Will the engine blow? Will it damage other components? It is impossible to know. The car is old enough people are owed a solution.

Today I paid Kia for 2019 property taxes of a vehicle I do not own since August 31, 2018 when I traded it for a new Toyota car. I tried everything to clarify the issue but they just decided to send the tax assessment to a collection company. I moved from Ma to IL, changed plates, sold the car in 2018, etc and the still kept charging me property taxes for the vehicle. Before this, I had multiple issues with the Kia financing department to the point that I had to get the general manager of the Kia dealer in Massachusetts to fix the issues with finance. Kia Sportage is one of the best cars I ever owned but I will never deal with Kia again due to the ineptitude of their Financial Dept.

Are you thinking of buying a 2011 or 2012 Kia Sorento? Forget it! My wife and I are both professionals who depend on our cars to get to work every day without fail. My wife is a pharmacist and I am an attorney. We are both in our 50s. In early 2010, we bought a 2011 Kia Sorento primarily because of the push-button ignition feature. My wife has advanced arthritis and the Honda Element she had been driving was hard for her to change gears with its dash-mounted shifter with the button on the thumb-side of the stick. We bought a brand new 2011 Kia Sorento from Lee Kia in Fort Walton Beach, Florida for under $26,000 financed through our credit union. The car performed well until 2 months ago, when we took it to the same dealer for a service recall we had gotten in the mail. When the car came back from the dealer, my wife said it was slow starting when she depressed the brake and pressed the push button ignition. On Monday, 7/18/11, the car would not start at all. It was completely dead. It then had 25,000 miles on it. I called Kia Roadside Assistance and they came and towed it to the same dealership that had done the recall work.It has been in the shop ever since then (18 days). I would repeatedly call the Service Department and speak with their manager Joe, who acted like he was annoyed at having to tell us anything! We were given a rental in the meantime at Kias expense, but this week they said they need a part that they cannot get and they have no idea when we will get the part back! I called the local General Manager at the beginning of this week. He was asked to call me back during the noon hour on my cell, but instead called me at 9:10 AM when I was in court and unavailable.I called and left messages for him the same day, but he did not return my call for 2 days. He then said that even though the car is built in Georgia – 6 hours from where we live here in Florida – his parts receiving facility in Atlanta was where he got his parts from and they did not have the part, a brake light component. In the meantime someone at the dealership told my wife that the problem with the push button ignition is endemic to Kia Sorentos, and they are trying to fix the Sorentos rolling off the line in Georgia with this problem now before they hit the public! So much for the security of buying a Korean car made in the USA. I told this to the local General Manager and his comment was that sounds like a story from the trenches, Ill check into it(!). The rental car we were given was a Ford fusion, low to the ground, which my wife cannot drive because she has a hip replacement. I told the General Manager this and he said he would have someone call the rental car agency to switch us out to something that rode higher. This was 2 days ago. That afternoon, the Service Manager Joe called and said he was trying to get us into another rental.I got tired of waiting for anyone to help us and 24 hours ago went to the rental car place and got put into another rental within 15 minutes of stopping by their office. I called the Service Manager after I left in the new rental and his sad story was he was still working on trying to find me another rental. I told him it would be nice if he would just call me daily with an update on the repair and the needed part. He said he would (this was at 3:30 PM yesterday). As of today at 1:30PM he has not called or left a message. Oh yeah, and when I called him earlier over 2 weeks ago, I was told I just got in. I have no idea what the status of your car is! This was at 7:35 AM (they open at 7:30AM) after no calls had been made to us the entire preceding day. Gee, sorry to distract you from chomping into that creme-filled doughnut buddy! As soon as we get this car back, if we ever do, I am running to replace it with a reliable Honda. If not repairable after 30 days I will be seeking an attorney to sue the company and the dealership for breach of warranties and fraud, under the Florida Lemon Law Act and any other cause of action that fits. Stay tuned.

I arrived to Kia at 8 am on Saturday 2-18/17 because my car was making noises when I pressed on the brakes. After 2 hours the rep came to the waiting room to speak to another customer and when finished he yelled across the room at me maam your car probably needs brakes then walked off...duh. I told them that when I got there. After another 30 min the same guy came to me stating my car needed brakes and they dont have them and it will be a few days before they can get them. My options are 1. drive away and come back in a few days to have my brakes changed and try not to drive too much because if additional parts go bad I will have to pay a lot more and they may not have all the parts...they really told me that. 2. Pay for a rental car until the parts come in and they can get replaced. They refused to get me a liner at no fee. 3. They could order some brakes from the auto parts store nearby and use them, but they may be noisy and not last. Wtf. I drive a Kia Sorento 2014, I come to KIA to get KIA parts. This is the first and last time I come here. So horrible.

I find it hard to believe that every dealer I visited to buy this particular model car are increasing the MSRP price of this car by thousands of dollars using a dubious practice call addendum sticker, I initiated a complain directly on the KIA website but all I received was an email indicating that someone will be in contact with me, that was back in late October 2019. As of today nobody has call me or email to address this serious problem.I understand that this is nice vehicle and people might want to pay a few hundred dollars more for it but thousands more is ludicrous and not acceptable. If KIA is allowing dealers to ripoff unsuspecting buyers all they doing is destroying their own brand as once the word gets out many buyers will simply stay away from buying this brand. I saw this happening in the early 1980s with Honda. I was a young father with 2 kids and needed an economical car, I ordered a 1980 Civic and when I went to pickup the car 6 weeks later the dealer increase the agreed price by 25% and I was told take it or leave it. Having waiting for so long for the car I end up paying gouge price. To this day I never bought another Honda.

Customer service was horrible... offering no assistance, excuses or closure. Apparently they stand by a vehicle only lasting 113,000 miles. I have done all of the required maintenance and then some. And I had to call the regional office customer service for 3 days before I talked to anyone. Now the dealership wants money for a misdiagnosis and a broken car... I am so disappointed and frustrated.

I have a 2014 Kia Sorento. The first year and a half the car ran great without any problems. Since then I’ve had to replace the alternator, the serpentine belt, the fuel injection system, oil pan gaskets, and now a radio that is also my backup camera display and Bluetooth. I’ve always done my service checks, synthetic oil like is recommended, etc. I’m beyond frustrated that every single one of these have gone bad and somehow, every single time Kia has said it’s not covered under their warranty. The car is only 6 years old and less that 100k miles even at this point! This radio has been reported thousands of times on these vehicles and is still not included in any recalls. It will be over $700 to fix. I’ve already spent thousands replacing things that would’ve been covered under other car manufacturers. Nobody would even consider buying this vehicle if they knew the issues beforehand. Please be wary!

We have a 2014 Kia Soul, now has 104,182 miles on it. Took the vehicle for an oil change on 3/21/18 and advised the shop that the vehicle had been going out in the midst of driving. They kept it for a couple of days and $100.19 later, we were told we needed a new engine, but they had new cars on sale! (That! is sarcasm.) They didnt tell us why, and quoted the new engine to be $5100+ tax. The car sat in my driveway for about a week as my husband and I debated, should we get a new car? Or get a loan to pay for a new engine? But then, if we get the new engine, what if that triggers something else to go wrong? Called Customer Affairs, created a case, took the car back to the dealership, who has ONLY been the ones to handle our vehicle, for oil changes only, as we have never had any issues.Kept the car for TWO WEEKS, never heard a word, had to call, then we got the runaround, and was told that we were denied any help from the DPSM. We escalated the case, and had to call back the next day to be told all they could do is offer $1500 off of a $6800+ engine. Mind you, we were originally quoted $5100+tax. Not only am I livid, I am out a vehicle, and have been for a month now, Ive had to put wear and tear on my other vehicle while my husband and I share it, and now have to find a way out of this KIA SOUL problem.

We will never buy a Kia again. We have a 2011 Sorento and the 100,000 miles or 10 year warranty only applies to the first owner. We bought the car at 1 year old with only about 18,000 miles on it. The second owner warranty is only up to 60,000 miles. The transmission failed a little over that. I started looking and found the Kia Sorento does have a lot of transmission problems. They are fixing some of the 2-wheel drive Sorentos but as of now, not the 4-wheel drive. We took it to the dealer and was told they may do a good faith fix. Of course they came back with a NO. We had no choice but to pay $2400 to fix it. I have also read that people are on their 3rd transmission, so I can see why Kia only guarantees it for 12 months. They know it be break again, so we will sell it very soon. I find this completely unacceptable for a well kept 3 year old vehicle.

I brought the car to the dealer with what appeared to be a wheel bearing problem, 98,300 miles. It had been a great car. I followed all maintenance according to the service manual. They called me back 2 days later and said it was internal transmission damage, manual transmission. When was the last time somebody heard of a modern manual trans failing? After getting the runaround for almost a month, they tell me that I should have been following the severe service schedule because I live in New York. The car has had an easy life, well cared for and garaged. So, Kia warranty isnt worth the paper it was written on in the manual. The 10/100 powertrain warranty is a scam. Warning, if you have a Kia, ignore the service schedule and follow the severe service duty schedule. That way, they can deny your claim later because it was used in severe service.

Purchased a 2011 Kia Sorrento brand new (less than 100 miles on it) in August of 2014. Went to bring it in for a simple camera replacement that would be covered under the 5 year/60k warranty, only to find out that the warranty started back in 2011 when the car was placed on the lot. So by the time I purchased the car, there were only 2 years left of the warranty unbeknownst to me (even though they sold me the car as new --certainly not a demo). Conveniently no one is able to resolve this issue -- hitting a wall with kiaconsumeraffairs, and the dealership is just not helpful altogether. This is my second Kia, and will now be my last. A lot of headache over a quick repair. Curious if all dealerships do this to lessen the chance of someone making a claim under the warranties -- have them all start prior to the car being sold.

I bought a Kia Rio in 2003. I was the first owner with 1,000 miles on it. It was on clearance. I didn’t need an extra car, but the price was too good to be true. 3 months after the purchase, it was still under the famous 100,000-mile guarantee. The A/C stopped working. I took it back. They fixed it. 8 months later, the A/C stopped working again. They fixed it. 2 to 3 months later, the A/C stopped working again along with the driver lock. They fixed both. This time, I told them that I didnt want the car no more. It was too much hassle and I needed a reliable car because my older car got totaled in an accident. This time, they got a brand new AC compressor. It worked for a year. The dealer told me the new compressor had its own guarantee. I told them I wanted to exchange it for different car. He said if it didn’t work, they will do it. They were very nice, so I trusted them. Less than a year later, the AC and car locked again. I took it back. I had enough. This time, they said: Were sorry to inform you. But if you would had come before last week, we could it replace it. But your guarantee on your A/C just expired. Now Im stuck with this piece of **! I am currently in my third lease with Kia and up until now would have remained a loyal customer. I lease a 2016 Kia Soul. It broke down on the highway with 35,000 miles. I get it taken to Kia of Bedford. That whole experience was awful (Kia Roadside Assistance stinks) I am told that I some type of rodent had been eating wires in my car causing extensive damage and it was not a warranty or Kia issue that I would pay out of pocket. Meanwhile I google this and find Kia uses soy based wire covering which attracts rodents. Kia still will not accept responsibility. I file a car insurance claim. Kia has my car for a MONTH! They never had parts in stock, and kept finding new things wrong with my car. I had to call for updates. I found the people working in the service department to be rude, and very cold hearted to the need of the customer. I filed two separate claims with Kia Consumer Affairs because I thought at the least I deserved to be reimbursed my car payment for the month I paid and did not drive my vehicle. They do not respond to phone calls or emails. Basically blow you off. My case was escalated to a Steven ** who called me once to say he needed paperwork that I had already emailed him and hasnt responded to a phone call or email since. I sent letters to the executive team and no response. Kia is a joke. They dont care about the customer. They dont care about keeping customers. And they sell piece of ** cars that you get stuck with and they dont feel bad or care about that either. If you want a good, reliable car, good customer service from a business that cares DO NOT GO TO KIA! Kia just wants your money-but they will not provide any kind of good service to earn it. I own a 2009 Kia Spectra and at 26,800 miles my transmission had to be replaced. At 82,200 miles, the 2nd transmission had to be replaced. This will be the 3rd transmission in 3 years. When I contacted the service manager of Kia of East Syracuse, he told me that headquarters will need to see the receipt for the transmission flush that should have been done at 30,000 miles. I mentioned to the manager that I thought it was at 60,000 miles? He stated that in areas where there are extreme conditions; i.e.; New York, a flush needs to be done every 30,000. I spoke to my mechanic and a number of people who are knowledgeable of automobiles stated that this is preposterous. I reviewed the manual and noticed that a flush wasnt needed until 105,000 miles for an automatic transmission. Secondly, the current transmission technically only has 57,000 miles. Since when do transmissions life expectancy only last less than 60,000? The dealership that I purchased the vehicle at is refusing to cover this under warranty. Headquarters is hemming and hawing about this and I still await their decision. As a result, I continue to be without a vehicle.

I also decided to have the oil changed in my 2012 Kia Sorento as driving all the miles back and forth to Iowa over the past few months with the move had put me at being due for an oil change. I planned on going to get it changed at the dealership as I had always done, but wanted/needed it done quickly, so decided to go to Jiffy Lube (#901 ran by Southwest Lubrication, Inc.) 8100 Crestline Ave Unit E-2 Littleton, CO 80123 (303) 933-9319. I went on January 8th, 2016 at 1:30 in the afternoon. They were not very busy, and were able to get me in quickly. They did their standard routine as far as letting me know what needed/should be done and their different classifications of oil changes. I chose the Signature Service as they recommended due to my vehicle being of foreign nature. I also had them replace the air filter as they recommended after showing me the old one. I was only there for about 45 minutes to an hour, it did not take them long to complete, paid for the service and was on my way. This is where things started to happen. The past few months, (November-current) my vehicle had been making a squeaking noise coming from the brakes, as they also needed to be replaced, but not to the point yet of absolutely having to have this done. On January 10th, two days after the oil change at Jiffy Lube, I noticed a noise not like the squeaking of the brakes, but more like plastic flapping or something with a belt or fan blade. I was only assuming these were what these noises could be as I have heard them before on previously owned vehicles and friends vehicles. The noise was bad up until the vehicle reached 30-40 mph or about 2 on the RPM scale in the dashboard. I drove to and from work at Advance America, which is about 6 miles from my home, so about a 12 mile round trip. I did this from January 11-13. I drove the vehicle to my sister in laws on January 14th, which is about 20 miles from my home, where it stayed parked for 24 hours while I took her vehicle to pick up her mother in Sioux Falls, SD. After I returned the next day, January 15, I picked up my vehicle and went to work where I did marketing, which involved driving my vehicle around to distribute flyers. This added an additional 50+ miles to my vehicle. January 16 I also went to work, round trip of about 12 miles. The 17th, I used my sister in law vehicle to return my mother in law home. My car sat for another 24 hours as I did this. The next day, the 18th I did not have work due to the holiday, but noticed the noise was getting worse. The evening of the 18th my brother in law had a friend come over to their home, where I was at the time, to check out my vehicle. We first started the vehicle and drove around the parking lot and down the street so he could hear the noise. My brother in laws friend is NOT a mechanic but his brother is and he has been around cars his whole life, so I thought he would be able to quickly tell what was wrong and recommend what to do. After we returned to the parking lot, we opened the hood so he could look at that and check the oil, basic things everyone does with a car. We pulled the dipstick and there was absolutely NO oil on the end. We did this a couple times to verify it was correct in showing no oil. My brother in law unscrewed the cap of where the oil filter is housed to make sure there was one, he did this only after I told him to. There was a filter but no oil really on said filter. We screwed the cap back on the filter housing and examined around everything further to notice what looked to be oil covering most everywhere under the engine in the engine compartment. At this point I/they decided that I needed to go to the dealership to have it looked at further. We added 2 quarts of oil to make sure there was enough for me to get home and then to the dealership as soon as possible. I took my vehicle to Peak Kia Littleton 5077 S Wadsworth Way Littleton, CO 80123 (303) 904-7806 and spoke with **, the service adviser there. I did this on January 20th and he recommended and said the next step would be to have a diagnostic test done. The next available time to do this was Thursday January 21st. I was there right away on Thursday morning for the test as I had to be to work by 10 am. The test took longer than expected and I called my work and this was fine with them to show up a couple hours late due to this appointment. I ended up calling into work that day because the testing took longer than expected and that was due to Kia informing me that they had looked and done everything as far as they could diagnostic wise and advised me that my engine was done for and would need to be completely replaced. I immediately thought it was something Jiffy Lube had done and called and informed them I would be looking into this further and also would be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, which I did. The complaint number is **. I have not heard anything back yet from this complaint. I was then contacted back by Jiffy Lube to get more information from me and the manager there said he was investigating this. A few hours went by and the Jiffy Lube manager called to inform me that after reviewing their tapes and speaking with the service techs, that they did nothing wrong and everything had been done correctly. I did not agree and asked for their corporate number which he gave as their location number and for his bosses contact information. This location is owned as a franchise and the franchise owner just happened to be there at this time. He got on the phone, introduced himself as Doug ** owner/operator, and I explained what was going on to him. He informed me he would do his best to help resolve this and offered to go to the Kia dealership to take a look for himself and see what he could see. He spoke with the service people at the dealership and after he was done with that, informed me that he and they had come to the conclusion that the oil was coming from somewhere other than the filter housing. I do not know much of anything about auto parts or things like this as I explained to him and he told me it was basically between Kia and I, and that it was something faulty with the vehicle, and being under warranty should be covered and fixed by Kia. At this point, I figured that it could possibly be something wrong with the vehicle itself, because since I purchased it brand new in 2012, I had been to the dealership in Sioux City, IA many times with several different issues that they fixed and replaced under warranty. I contacted the Kia dealership in Littleton, Peak Kia, and spoke with ** once again. I told him what Doug from Jiffy Lube had told me and he informed me that it was NOT something that they did and said it was something that happened with or at Jiffy Lube. I told him I wasnt saying that it was something they had just recently done, but could be something with that particular vehicle as I had had numerous things done and fixed prior to moving here. When it came down to it, he told me that it would be $345.00 for them to tear down the engine to find out what the real problem was. I already owed/owe them (Peak Kia) $115 for the diagnostic test and did not have the extra money to pay the $345 to pay to do this to either find out if was something wrong with the vehicle, then they would refund me and it would be covered by warranty, OR it would be something Jiffy Lube did and would NOT be covered by warranty and I would be out there $345 and would have to pay OVER $8000 for a new engine. I did not/do not have the $345 to pay for then engine tear down since I lost my job due to NOT having reliable transportation, a requirement of my position there. They gave me the choice of either resigning or they would have to fire me since I was still in training and was losing my means of transportation. I chose to resign on January 22nd after working half the day and discussing all of these details with my boss. ** at Kia had told me, that day, Friday the 22nd of January that my vehicle was not drivable, and if I did, my engine would definitely seize up. I have left it sitting there at the dealership since. I have been back and forth with both Jiffy Lube and Kia, have filed a complaint with the BBB, tried to go and file a small claims case but after discussing with them the cost of an engine, advised that Colorado law on small claims limits at $7500 and it will be much more to fix my vehicle not to mention my loss of employment and now I am about to be evicted because I have no income. I have tried to contact numerous lawyers and other offices for assistance on what to do and how to find an attorney, but have not gotten anywhere yet. I have been in contact with a radio talk show and have been on the air with Tom Martino, who assists in consumer affairs, and has been helpful so far, but I think I need to hire an attorney or someone to help me with this. I know this is a VERY long plea for assistance, but wanted whomever read it to be fully aware of my situation so I could get some direction on where to go from here. ANY information you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Again thank you for reading this and I hope to hear from someone soon!!

Musty smell started coming through vents. Saw a video to change cabin filter which I did. No better. Took it to Kia of Greer for a check and MOLD was growing in the A/C lines. Was told I need to let more fresh air in and not use the air circulating button so much. I got online and consumers from 2010 are complaining about the same problem. So we are breathing MOLD? Kia needs to be held responsible for the design of the A/C unit and where water is standing. This is a health hazard! PLEASE fix KIA!!!!

I am an owner of Kia Rio 1,3/2004 and I am generally satisfied with it. There is only one problem. I must buy a new car key nearly every year. Car key is a wear off - grind in keyhole. This occurs because the key is made of brass and keyholes of steel. Service men know this, but they are powerless to solve this problem because every new elementary key is made of brass instead of steel.

I bought this car in 2017 in September. Here we are in October of 2018 and it has a blown engine. I only have 95,000 miles on this car and bought it with 58,000. For such a new car you would think you would have years before any major issues. Car isnt even on any recalls. But here I am no car and still paying on this vehicle that is a new type of garden gnome now. I hate Kia vehicles and would never buy another ever again.

I purchased a Kia Rio 2011 in August 2012 from Courtesy Ford of Rome. The hubcaps was making a flapping noise when the weather changes. Water leaking in the backseat when it rains, and water leaking in the trunk starting on November 4. Went back and forth to Terry Reid, 25 miles away from Rome. I took it four to five times to see them before it was fixed in February of 2013. The airbag light came on. I had to go to Terry Reid for them to check it. The part was ordered and fixed a month later. Two weeks ago the engine light came on and the car started to put along. Now the car powers down like it is cutting off. I feel like I got a lemon and I plan on sending it back to the people who financed it. Im not paying $352 a month for a car that is not reliable and a waste of my hardworking money. I shouldnt be having all these problems with this car. I havent had it for one year yet and everything started three months after I got it.

I was the owner of a 2018 Kia Sorento. Upon getting close to the end of my lease, I went to the dealership Smithtown Kia on Long Island, NY. Between mileage and remaining payments, part of the deal/contract for exchanging the 2018 Sorento for a new 2020 Kia Optima is that the remaining balance on the Sorento would be paid off by the dealership. The check for the remaining balance (in excess of $2,600.00) was sent by the dealership upon closure of the deal in February 2020. In August of the same year I received a notification from Transunion (one of the major credit bureaus) that a reported missed payment in the amount of the payoff had been reported by Kia Motors Finance. What Kia neglected to do was send the letters claiming I owed them this money to the address listed when I got the 2020 Optima (my current address), not the address I lived in upon the lease of the 2018 Sorento.I was left in the dark about it due to their negligence to send letters to the right address informing me of their negligence to handle a contracted pay off properly. I checked my credit score which at the time of the deal back in February was well over 800. What happened to my credit score was more than just a drop in the bucket. The drop my credit had experienced put me in a terrible position with my mortgage lender during a refinance that was taking place at the same time frame I found out about this remaining balance on a vehicle I no longer owned nor was legally financially responsible for due to the terms of the balance being the responsibility of the dealership to pay off. I called the dealership right away and they claimed they had sent the check. They sent me a tracking number where the check was sent via Fedex. I looked into the tracking number and the check was signed for by Kia Finance that it had been received.I called Kia Finance. After waiting unbelievable amounts of time to speak with someone, they requested that I send them a picture of the front and back of the check that the dealership had sent them for the pay off. So they wanted a picture of a check they already physically received, yes you read that right. I called the dealership and got the run around for 4 days before they found it and sent it to me via email. Mind you, every day that goes by I am building a terrible mountain of late days on my credit regarding this pay off. Once I received the picture of the front and back of the check I called Kia Finance again where they gave me an email to forward the picture of the check. I sent the email twice in the same day. I called the next day and they put me on hold for 45 minutes only to tell me that I had to wait an additional 2 days before they could find and review the email with the picture attached.I waited 2 days and called back. When I got someone on the phone they put me on hold for 2 straight hours before I lost my patience and gave up. I called the next day and they had me on the phone for an hour before they found the email. Once they found the email the lady on the phone said she was sending it over to payment processing which would take another 3 days. Yes, another 3 days. I waited the 3 days and called back. I got a lady on the phone whom I explained the whole situation to. She puts me on hold to review the situation and once again never gets back to me. I waited on hold for almost a half hour before I gave up again. I have the background music for being on hold with Kia etched into the bad memory bank of my brain. I called back right away where the next lady proceeded to tell me that she needed to review the situation and asked if I would hold for 2 to 3 minutes.I lost it at this point and started pointlessly yelling at them because Im a human being thats been completely pushed to the limit. Finally after over 2 weeks of this horrible experience I get a payment processing person on the phone that seemed interested in helping. But in the end, Ive been instructed I need to wait another 3 days before theyll know anything else. Im literally fighting against the credit bureaus clock because of this company due to absolutely no fault of my own.As I wrote this review I have literally been on hold upon the resolution of the last call I explained for over 26 minutes. I have no hope or feeling of resolution to this awful situation these people have put me in. Gross customer negligence and incompetence that has cost me my financial health. Something needs to be done whether Im the only person this has happened to or whether its happened to multiple people. Its unethical, its immoral, its life altering. I dont know what else to do. I will never get a Kia ever again.

I am a dissatisfied owner of a 2014 Kia Soul. July 4, 2015 I purchased a used 2014 Kia Soul with 4200 miles on it. June 2017 the engine blew up with 62261 miles on it. At this time I found out that there is NOT a 100000-mile powertrain warranty because I am the second owner. They dont tell you that when you buy it. I contacted Kia warranty service to submit my claim. Long story short, Kia not covering engine replacement because it is out of second owner power train warranty. I Had to pay to install a new long block engine into the Soul at the Kia dealership. $4322.00 for the engine and installation. Kia could not tell me what the mileage was when the Soul went into Service but only the date. According to Kia warranty, the second owner is 5 year 60,000 mile warranty from day and current mileage. So if my Soul had 2262 miles on it when it went into service, then my warranty would be to 62262 miles. Kia did not want to even talk about this. Just basically said, Sorry for your bad luck. Next I was told to file an complaint and I will be doing just that. It was determined at the dealership the failure was due to a blown head gasket which in turn allowed engine coolant to get into the #2 cylinder which caused the engine to lock up. Also the engine was free of any oil sludge and nothing was found to be neglected as far as maintenance. An engine head gasket should not blow on a well-maintained engine. Funny thing at the dealership when my engine arrived from their distribution center, I was told I was 4th in line to have an engine installed. Gee. Sounds like Kia has an engine failure problem. Guess they are not paying for anyones repairs!!! Poor customer satisfaction. Oh and Scott who I spoke with from Kia about the warranty, if you read this, this is not the way life is, consumers should not have to worry about their engine failing and be without a ride to work for 6 weeks and have to deal with arrogant warranty customer service person. My son has a Nissan with 145000 miles and it has only been to dealership for regular scheduled maintenance. Guess I will need to trade this Kia on a Nissan.

I bought a slightly used 2011 Kia in 2011. It was in amazing condition and I spent the next 7 years taking immaculate care of it -- never missing an oil change and keeping up with the regular maintenance. Last week, while driving, out of nowhere my car seizes and then starts making a very loud rapping noise. Engine is kaput. I had it towed to my mechanic (my cousin so he doesnt give me any bull -- he even does a diagnostic in front of me and shows me exactly what is wrong with the car and why). He says one of the pistons broke, causing tons of metal flecks in the oil (which I had recently changed). The piston had also hit one of my spark plugs, chipping off a tiny piece of it. He said the issue is the exact same as all of the thousands of Kias being recalled, and that this is a bad engine and its the manufacturer at fault for it, not me. Especially since I had taken such good care of it -- no sludge in the oil, no nothing.Call Kia customer care & open a case -- they say I have to have a Kia dealership diagnose it for them to help me. So I tow it to a dealership and they charge me $120+ just for the diagnostic. I try to give them the diagnostic from my mechanic and tell them about the broken engine and the spark plug and the piston, and they wont listen to me. I go home and wait thru the weekend. They call me Monday morning to say my car doesnt have a broken engine, but that the tiny piece of spark plug is causing the issue and they need another $350 to try to remove it and it may cost up to $1100. I tell them to wait and call my cousin to ask if that sounds right. He said, no, thats outrageous, and he calls them and makes them put the mechanic on the phone. Mechanic is a complete ** -- didnt even run a diagnostic, just looked at the spark and figured that was the problem. Cousin asked if he ran a compression test-- of course he didnt! Then the mechanic tried to say it would take 3 hours for a diagnostic then, and cousin said, how long does a compression test take? Guy says, I dont know, Id have to look it up to which my cousin replied, Its certainly less than 2 hours. You can send me an itemized list of what youre doing.I ended up making my cousin the one the dealership had to go thru. And, GEE WIZ! Turns out when they actually DID THE COMPRESSION TEST, the problem with the car is exactly what my cousin said was wrong! And do you think Kia stands by its 100,000 mile/10 Year Warranty??! Of course not! Because Im the 2nd owner. And does it say on the ads or the website that it doesnt apply to 2nd owners? Not unless you find your manual and look it up -- Intentionally deceptive and misleading. And REGARDLESS, this is THEIR FAULTY ENGINE. Customer care wont do a fricking thing and expects me to pay thousands of dollars for a new engine, even though they KNOW its their responsibility and theyve already had to recall all their other engines (but for some reason not the Rio...) My cousin even called Customer Care and said my engine is affected by the recall, theyre just trying to save face. I have years and years worth of oil change and maintenance receipts as proof that the fault is theirs, and they wont do a freaking thing to correct their mistakes.I have never been so disgusted. The incompetence of the dealership, the arrogance of Customer Care, the mistreatment of their customers, the lemons they wont take responsibility for... I WILL NEVER BUY A KIA AGAIN. Do yourself a favor and save yourself the inevitable headache and HUGE repair bills-- STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM KIA CARS AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN.I now have to junk my car after I had JUST replaced the breaks and done a bunch of other maintenance to it. I hope the company goes bankrupt and burns to the ground. They are the most corrupt lousy liars I have ever come across. Just do a quick freaking search online and you will find hundreds and hundreds of stories just like mine. It is unbelievable that an 8 yr old car with 98,000 miles on it would die with no warning and Kia just shrugs its shoulders. This is unacceptable. If anyone files a class action lawsuit please let me know -- they need to be taken down.

Received Kia Motor Finance Lease Agreement, dated 09/19/2013 with noted Maturity Date of 09/19/2016. The disposition fee will be waived if you purchased or leased a new Kia Motors Finance within 60 days after the return of the leased vehicle. I had decided not to purchase and to return the car. I returned the car prior to 09/19/2016. When I leased the car on 09/13/2016, I had the alarm activated, 3m edge protectors door guides and handle cap, windows tinted 2-4 for a total amount of $1451. I had new brakes serviced on 06/06/2016 and completed set of new premium 19 tires installed just before the brakes this year. I took extra care of car which had no dents. I called Kia to go over added charge of $290 fee and was told the front bumper had a scratch which I was never aware of nor have I ever notice when the car was wax or washed. The car was waxed and spotless when returned. I took pride in keeping the car in top shape including using synthetic oil and filters. I received notice for request of $690 to be paid within 15 days from date of notice dated 09/29/2016. The total consisted of disposition fee of $400 and excessive wear and use of $290. My wife and I prefer not to be charged unnecessarily and as a result of this I will be frank with anyone that might be interested in leasing a Kia to watch out for these unnecessary added fees if one elects not to purchase the car. I sent check for above amount of $690. I did not take photos when I returned car since it was immaculate and did not foresee any problems.

Kia Motor Finance (KMF) says for its leases, the consumer must contact them
Kia Motor Finance (KMF) says for its leases, the consumer must contact them to tell them how to allocate a payment. My payment was late, the statement reflected principle, taxes, the late fee and a total. I paid the total as per the statement, but KMF allocated everything to the principle and taxes only. This occurred over a number of months. Now I am told that the late fees were never paid. If the statement says to pay the total amount due, why would I think I need to call within 24 hours of the payment and tell them to allocate to principle, tax and late fees. My calls remain unanswered. I have been bounced around between collections and customer services. In addition, KMF explained that when I paid to get my car back, the repo fee was applied to my principle. KMF reversed it but put my account in to delinquency. I am being held accountable for their incompetency, lack of transparency, fraudulent and abusive use of statements that are not honored. Why would the consumer know that KMF requires allocation instructions. It is not written on the lease, no addendum received stating this is the policy, and nothing on the statement that says for your late payment to be processed please call us. Why wouldnt a consumer believe the breakdown on the statement is the exact way the payment would be processed. This is mind boggling and I refuse to believe that I am the only person this is happening to. This becomes very scary that a corporation takes your payment, implies via a statement of what the payment is consisted of but applies it in a different manner. The Consumer should be Informed of this practice.

I bought a car at Car Pros Kia. They never notified me that the car had a recall until I went for my first inspection after 3 months!!! I found out that the car that I bought was a DEMO and they never told me that. They sold it as a new car. I was so stressed out that I did not even see the miles that the car had on until the next day. I took a picture of it -- 75 miles that I did not drive!!! They wrote on my contract 8 miles!!! I trusted them and they took advantage of me. The warranty that I bought was supposed to take care of everything as the lady said from top to bottom, everything and anything and it is not true. My 3rd inspection, I will have to pay more than $400. On top of everything, they are rude. No courtesy at all. I called a sales manager called Rodrigo and he kept repeating that he was busy just because I said that I need to talk to him and he hang up on me!!! The only person that has my respect over there is the driver that took me to IKEA. Getting an attorney!

I have been a 3 car Kia customer for almost 10 years. I was Kias BIGGEST fan, telling EVERYONE how great a company this is. Ive converted 5 people into purchase of a Kia. Which is why I’d like to tell you why I am no longer a Kia customer and now a Nissan owner. And will tell EVERYONE I know to do the same. In the last 10 months I have had more than a dozen service visits. Starting in August 2020 my engine was losing oil. After first visit, my SA Edwin agreed this is a problem, do the oil consumption test and we’ll be on our way for a repair. Test Done, with a Sorry. We have to do the test again but we replaced the ignition coil. (2nd Coil since I’ve owned car) And again we test. With more Sorry. It didnt burn enough oil, or You have to come in EXACTLY at 1,000 miles. (This is NOT true; math can be converted at any mileage over the 1,000.) Even when I told them it starts burning at the 2,000 mark after oil change.Over and over again, I miss work to sit in the dealership, or WALK home, as the dealership insisted on these appointments but wouldnt give me a loaner (I have full coverage insurance). Finally in March 2021 they decide they will clean the combustion chamber. Need to leave car: they make me RENT a car saying it will be paid for with my warranty. ADDITIONAL days needed as more problems occurred while in for repair. (Oil switch). Keep the rental they told me, it’s covered. Return the rental and the dealership won’t PAY THE RENTAL.I have now missed over 30 hours of work, repeated oil change costs for the process, Rental Fees, Inspection fees that were never reimbursed. All in avoidance of a repair that was clearly needed to my engine. Go back into a new dealership Kia Schaumburg on 6/1/21 for scheduled oil change, and the Tech tells me there is NO OIL ON THE DIPSTICK. AGAIN. 10 months later and I still have the same problem. I hope the $100,000 lifetime of customer income I was generating (I buy a car every 3 years) was worth losing over this. I understand mechanical failure. I was an AUTO SERVICE ADVISOR for 10 years. Its how you handle it. And Kia Failed. (Case # ** for FEELING UNSAFE IN MY KIA, NO ONE CALLED ME BACK.)

We have owned a 2012 KIA Sorento EX for four years. We have enjoyed the car and taken good care of it... hoping that it would last us for years. Last month our engine suddenly seized up and died as I was driving home from a routine shopping trip. The engine was still under warranty coverage and we had taken our car to the KIA dealer for recent maintenance and an oil change. After having the car towed to the dealer we were told that our warranty coverage was denied because we had neglected the car. We were aghast and suspected poor maintenance on the part of the dealer so we complained to KIAs customer service. They assigned us a customer number and investigator. It has been a month and we cannot get a call telling us where the investigation is going. KIA apparently does not want to honor its warranties for big issues. We tell everyone we know not to buy a KIA!

Purchased a new Kia Soul 2010 in Antigonish, NS. Fantastic dealership there
Purchased a new Kia Soul 2010 in Antigonish, NS. Fantastic dealership there. We wanted the burner model, but they only came in one color, so they custom made a green model as a burner for us. Moved to Charlottetown, PE and it all went downhill. The gas mileage was horrendous in the car, about 15L/100km. Took it to the dealership and they told us the following. The air filter needs to be replaced. All the fuel lines are good. The mechanic however did not check the plugs because he would have to take the engine cover off. They wanted to charge us quite a bit of money to proceed from there. I declined, I can replace an air filter myself. Purchased and ready to install. I then notice my engine cover is missing. Two bright and shiny holes where the 2 10 mm screws would hold it in place twinkling in the sunlight. Whaaaaaaat? Note: for the record, I know it did not come with one factory installed, it was aftermarket. So I call Kia up and ask where my engine cover is. They say I didnt have one. Wait for it! But.. You told me that YOU DID NOT CHECK THE PLUGS because of the engine cover. So whats the deal? Where is my cover? I even provided a picture of it to them. They said they did not have it. Grr.... So I then asked, if I never had one (I did) why would I be told you did not check the plug because of it, which is absurd because 2 10 mm screws take approximately 45 seconds to remove. The service manager told me repeatedly that my car never came with one and he doesnt know why they would tell me that. I lodged a complaint with Kia directly and all they would say is that they were aware of the incident. No apology, no offer to replace my cover.Skip ahead 1 year, car taken in for inspection. Was told the rear rotors needed replacement, they wanted 400$ to replace them. I said no, I can replace them myself. I pulled the wheels off and the rotors were fine, no scarring. I had already purchased new ones so I put them on, changed the brake pads and took the car back. They checked the car and now the front ones needed replacing. I said the hell and I took the car to a brake specialist where he will turn bad rotors on a lathe to fix them. NO ISSUES FOUND WITH THE ROTORS.I took the car back to the dealership and told them who I had check them. They then said oh, yeah they are fine, but your tires need to be replaced. I told them to put the passed inspection sticker on the car, the tires have the appropriate thread on them and that they need to stop the ** with fake issues. They put the sticker on the car. So as it stands now, I am out $80 for the after market engine cover and $100 on rear rotors I did not need. Thank you Kia Charlottetown, I think I will buy anything but Kia next time. So in the end, I am out an $80 after market cover.

I have received my 2nd safety recall on my 2010 KIA Soul which I bought brand new at Terry Reid KIA in Cartersville, GA. I had to relocate to Green Valley, AZ in 7/13 to come under the treatment of a highly specialized physician after becoming extremely ill as I was unknowingly put into a hazardous toxic mold environment at a resort which we eventually found behind all the wallpapered areas -- this facility had been infested with this toxic molds, come to find out, for years with no action being taken. I am now multi-chemically sensitive and cannot be in any dealerships where there are smells and odors as it will complicate my situation even further. I was just directly exposed to poisonous pesticides at my complex as management did not put up advance warnings as to when these would be used around my building and have been extremely ill as a result. I have a KIA Soul which must be repaired and am unable to get it to the closest dealership (over 1 hr one-way from me) due to my health conditions, and this will take at least 3 hours to repair. I have emailed KIA Consumer Services to get my car towed into Jim Click KIA in Tucson to get this unsafe situation fixed. I would have to stay with my vehicle in an environment that I cannot be in as this is being repaired; no one to pick me up here, etc. So, we will wait and see what KIA will do to help me with this dilemma.

I have a 2009 Kia Rio with only 55,000 miles on it. For the last month and a half, it has been revving when only going at a speed of 60. Its already at 4 RPM and if I try and accelerate, the RPM increase. I had a transmission flush several weeks back to see if the problem would go away, but it did not. I took my car to a Kia dealer and can you believe they said that there is nothing wrong with my vehicle when there clearly is? I still am having the issue of the engine revving, pulls and does not want to accelerate at times. Anyhow, just wanted to get this out there and will be trading in this vehicle that should not even be on the road or exist.

I just want to start by saying that I am a very friendly person and I alway
I just want to start by saying that I am a very friendly person and I always have a smile on my face, but I am not happy with Kia right now. I own a 2012 Kia Sorento. It is my familys only vehicle. We are a family of four. On Friday, August 5th, my family was driving from our home in California to visit my mother in law for her bday at her home in Nevada. Two miles from the Nevada state line our Kia just stopped in the middle of the 15 Freeway and luckily my husband was able to swerve it on the shoulder of the freeway. We waited for nearly 2 hours for a tow to Henderson Kia (in Nevada). It was over 100 degrees that day. The tow was taking longer than expected so we were forced to leave the keys to the Kia on the floor mat and leave the vehicle for the tow company and find a way to get to my mother in laws home. Once the Kia finally arrived at Kia Henderson we were told that the service department could not even look at it until Monday morning, August 8th. I had requested a rental and was declined. This was a necessity as we had no transportation while in Nevada and no way to drive the 300+ miles back to CA so that we could work on Tuesday, Aug. 10th and get our daughters to their first day of school. We paid over $400 in car rental costs for 4 days use of a vehicle. Henderson Kia notified us on Monday, Aug, 9th that our engine needed to be replaced. We were shocked. 72,000 and a perfect maint. records. All of which we supplied to Henderson Kia. Due to this we were approved for a new engine. On Wednesday, Aug. 11th, I again requested Kia provide a rental vehicle. Henderson Kia told me to call Kia Consumer Affairs and Kia Consumer Affairs told me to take it up with Kia Henderson. Finally, a rental was approved and I triple verified that I would have the rental during the duration of the repairs and could use it to drive the 300+ miles back to Nevada when my vehicle was ready. Fast forward to today. My vehicle is ready and Henderson Kia is stating that my rental vehicle is only valid until today, September 1st. I am beyond livid. Especially since the contract between Henderson Kia and Enterprise Rental Cars states that my rental is valid until Septemeber 30th. Does Kia really think my family can just leave work and school and drive back to Nevada from California - on Labor Day weekend no less? I have already given Henderson Kia my arrival date in Nevada of Friday, September 9th. My engine is under warranty. This is a Kia flaw not any damage my family has inflicted on the engine. Henderson Kia is expecting me to return my rental vehicle to my local Enterprise today. If I do that, how will I get home? How will my children get home from school? How will I pick my husband up from work? and most importantly, how will we be able to drive back to Nevada to pick up our Sorento? It floors me all of this back and forth with Henderson Kia and Kia Consumer Affairs. I have saved all of my 20 plus emails with Henderson Kia. As of this moment, my family is still in limbo and Henderson Kia is saying that it is only Kia Consumer Affairs that can extend a rental car and Kia Consumer saying it is only the individual dealership. Please help. Thank you for listening.

My 2013 Kia Soul, still under warranty, has major engine problems. An independent mechanic says its a cylinder. Kia refuses to repair without all service records since purchase. Many oil changes were done at home!! Im out a basically new car!! Anyone know of a class action against them about this matter? I know they had the same issues with Kia Sorento.

Well in May 2014 I purchased a brand new 2014 KIA Soul (27 miles) from KIA
Well in May 2014 I purchased a brand new 2014 KIA Soul (27 miles) from KIA ALOHA AUTO GROUP. Also invested in their so called exterior/interior SIMONIZ glass coat protection plan that was an additional $995. So long story short it was in the evening that I took possession of my brand new 2014 KIA SOUL. All was great. I really didnt check out the exterior assuming it was a brand new 2014 vehicle. All should be good. Well upon waking the next morning getting ready to take the keikis for a cruise in our new ride of course kids are out before me and my oldest son comes inside and tells me Nice ride, mom. But is it brand new? I said Yes, you no see the paper plates? He said I do. Thats why Im asking how come get all kind surface scratches and all swirls/spider webs around the whole vehicle? So I came out and yes all kinds of surface scratches and swirls throughout the entire vehicle. So I said Well we will stop by the car lot on our way out. So we did. Manager there was so sarcastic and no customer service skills. Anyways when he came out he said Well whats wrong? I said Can you take a look at the entire exterior and tell me whats wrong? He looked and had no problems so I had to point out the swirls and scratches. He said Well did you purchase the Simoniz protection plan? I said yes, he said Then no worries. That will take everything out. Dummy me was satisfied with that answer until we were cruising and I said Wait a minute so if I never take the Simoniz plan and pay extra $995 then what? Thats the kind of exterior I going be dealing with? Hmmmmm. So I waited for appointment to do my Simoniz protection. Got the vehicle back, looked great but in 2 days swirls were back and scratches were back. So again I call manager I take vehicle to their service dept and then am told by the manager that because the vehicle is black thats normal for black vehicles. LOL are you serious? Now I brought it back to you the day after and you told me the Simoniz that I purchased would take care of it and now you telling me 2 months later that thats part of owning a black vehicle. The upkeep is hard and its normal BS... So I call ** on July 2, 2014 and another idiot on the other end, Tyrone **, been leaving him voice mails 4 times in July, spoke to him once in Sept, left several messages in early Sept throughout Oct and finally 10/27/14 he tells me he spoke to manager at car lot and he says nothing wrong but agrees that there is spider webs throughout the entire exterior of the vehicle. Anyone with similar problems can you please contact me at **. If you have a solution or have someone I can talk to for some assistance on getting the dealer to provide some kind of solution. I am thinking of taking vehicle to maybe a detail shop to see what they say. I did take it to Maaco here in Aiea but he couldnt help me said I should take it to a detail shop unless I wanted him to repaint my car then he could help me. He couldnt even tell me that thats not a common thing for brand new black vehicles.

Our 2014 KIA Sorento audio volume speed control doesnt work when the vehicle accelerate, we have to keep adjusting the volume both when we are at high speed (highway) and low speed (city). The Kia dealer didnt find any fault, so they took the car for a test drive and compared it with other new SUV and they said they noticed that the volume changed barely, but so small (or low) that anyone barely will notice that the volume adjusted itself, and they said without KIA directed them to do something, they cant. So they told me to call KIA and explain the problem and thats were the unwelcome and the frustration came in: I called KIA to explain the problem so I can have a better understanding of whats going! Everything was going okay til I mention the complaint about the volume and she became very angry with me and started to speak very loud! She asked the name of the dealer and the name of the person handling the repair etc., and she said if the dealer said the SUV is working normally then it is. So I tried to explain to her of what the dealer did and how they couldnt diagnose the problem, but she became so angry with me all of a sudden that she was very hard to talk to! So I thank her for her NO HELP and hang up.I am frustrated with this because I found out that I am not the only Sorento owner with this problem, and the way she was on the defensive, Im pretty sure she has heard about the problem. I have a 2001 Chevy Impala and it has that audio volume speed control feature and guess what??? It works flawlessly and KIA cant make the same system work on a 2014 model?? Really. I want KIA to look into this problem and update the SUV systems.

I was driving into town to get gas before heading to work. I ran out of gas, called my roadside assistance, had them come give me fuel, tried starting it, and the roadside assistance person thought the battery was dead, and put a charger on it, and it still wouldnt start, and was recommended to have it towed, which I did. I called my mechanic at noon, to find out it had no oil, and the engine was seized. When I went to the shop there were no codes that pulled and I had no lights on the dash, no oil light, no check engine, etc. The mechanic actually had to show me where the oil light was, as it is right next to the low fuel light - I would have noticed it. Ive spoken to Kia who says there have been no issues with the 2012 Kia Sorento, but I beg to differ. I believe the sensor or fuse for the oil light had to have been malfunctioning, which led to my vehicle running out of oil, unlike Kia who suggested it was due to negligent maintenance on my part.

This is the first time that I ever wished I could give a car company negative stars. Dont buy a Kia. As I was dealing with my issue at the dealership, an employee came by and asked what was wrong. He ended it by saying Service department always having issues. After what I experienced, not surprising at all. I had visited this dealership before for mileage maintenance and experienced great service. Boy was I in for a surprise on this visit. Making an extremely long story short -- I brought my car in for a rattling noise. The service manager, MICHAEL, had the tech address everything but the issue I brought the car in for. They kept the car a day and a half yet spent only two hours trying to figure out the rattling noise. And what was their diagnosis? They were unable to figure out the problem ON THEIR OWN VEHICLE. Their solution? That I get body work done on a non-impact scratch that occurred AFTER the noise started and then they could take another look at it. What?! I told him over and over that the scratch occurred way after the noise started. He maintained his stance. He stated that it was Kias rule that they couldnt do any further diagnostics on the issue until I got the body work done. He was completely combative and dismissive. I asked for another manager. CONSTANTINE came out and essentially performed as Michaels puppet, backing up every ridiculous thing he said. I left there having paid for a tire rotation that I didnt need and didnt ask for just to get out of there. After talking with a friend who is a former Kia sales manager at another dealership, I confirmed that what Michael told me was complete BS and that they just didnt want to take the time to deal with the problem. Nice. I have taken several steps to have these issues addressed before leaving this review. I called into corporate consumer customer service and opened a case with a MASIELA. I was promised a call back within two days. That was over 2 weeks ago. I followed up and have been ignored. I contacted Kia Consumer Care on Twitter and was promised a follow-up. I have also been ignored there as well. In the interim, I got all the work done on my car that was needed EXCEPT the body work and wouldnt you know --- the noise is GONE. Isnt that rich? I have come to the conclusion that Kia is who we thought they were and will be getting rid of this car the moment it is paid off.
