Kia has advised me recently that they had overstated the fuel economy ratings for the 2012 Kia Sorento that I purchased for my wife Barbara earlier this year. This is very disappointing to us as we bought this vehicle primarily based on the EPA mileage estimate on the window sticker. It is now obvious that we were deliberately misled by KIA. We feel like fools! Kia has proposed lowering the mileage estimate on our 2012 Sorento, only 1-2 mpg from 22/32mpg to 21/30mpg. Based on my experience, this is not enough. We are getting only about 25-27mpg highway and have done a lot of that type of driving since we bought the vehicle last spring. Reimbursing us for a 1-2mpg difference is woefully inadequate. If we knew that 26mpg highway was all we were going to get, we would never have purchased this vehicle in the first place.Every time we complained about the mileage disappointment, we were told by many different KIA personnel that we hadnt driven enough miles. Need to break in the engine and drive about 5,000 miles to realize the higher numbers, they said. Then when we passed 5,000 miles and didnt get the promised mileage numbers, they moved the bar and told us to drive 10,000 miles. Now we are at 13,000+ miles and still getting only about 26mpg hwy. This suggests a systemic issue where the entire Kia organization was involved in the cover up. The projected reimbursement of 1-2mpg for the difference between the EPA estimate and new EPA estimate does not come anywhere near making up for the difference between the promised 32mpg highway versus the 26mpg that we are getting. We are only experiencing 18mpg city and 26mpg highway, which is significantly less than the revised estimates of 21/30mpg. The proposed compensation for the additional fuel costs incurred based on 1-2mpg is insufficient and should be 3-4mpg higher. If Kia is truly committed to compensating affected owners fairly, for the unexpected fuel costs resulting from this lower fuel economy experience, they need to do more than this. As someone who spent over 30 years in the customer relations activities, I believe Kia will have 900,000 unhappy former customers who will do long lasting damage to the Kia/Hyundai brands. If Kia truly values its owners, they need to do more to make this right with them. This was the first Kia that we have ever purchased. Based on the way we feel, we will never consider buying another Kia or Hyundai product again.A car owner should have a special relationship with his vehicle. Being pleased at how it looks when he approaches the vehicle and fully satiated with how it performs when he is behind the wheel. However, every day when I drive our Sorento and watch the mpg readout on my dashboard consistently running 3-4mpg less than the revised estimates, I am overcome with feelings of buyers remorse and I feel deceived all over again. In addition, the proposed remedy does not address the negative impact on the value of our Sorento. Right now we feel duped, would never buy another Kia or Hyundai vehicle again and will tell everyone we know that they should not ever trust what Kia or Hyundai says.If Kia really wanted to build long term, trust-based relationships where customer satisfaction is central to their business, they would increase the proposed compensation. Apologies and regret wont cut it. I have significant regret at purchasing my first Kia product. If Kia is fully committed to doing everything to resolve this problem and want to make things right for those affected, increase our compensation.

My 2013 Kia Soul, still under warranty, has major engine problems. An independent mechanic says its a cylinder. Kia refuses to repair without all service records since purchase. Many oil changes were done at home!! Im out a basically new car!! Anyone know of a class action against them about this matter? I know they had the same issues with Kia Sorento.

My experience with Kia Roadside Assistance has been a very positive one so far. If I need any type of roadside assistance, I give Kia Roadside Assistance a call or I use the app that is on my phone and begin whats needed to get the wheels turning as to me getting taken care of. Every time I have called Kia Roadside Assistance its usually concerning a battery dead issue. Someone from Kia Roadside takes my information and sends someone out right away to give me assistance. The wait for the technician sent out by Kia Roadside Assistance is never a long wait. The technician from Kia Roadside Assistance is usually kind and straightforward offering help and then solving the problem in what I feel is record time. So, based on my experiences with Kia Roadside Assistance this last year and a half Im well pleased.

I bought a Kia off the showroom floor. I drove it with no problem for about 8 months, then I took it over for a check up. Everything came back great, then it broke down. I utilized the road side assistance, and had it towed to the Clarsburgs Kia. It took them about a week to fix it . The eco had a glitch, and burnt up my fuel pump. I got it back, and put gas in it, and the check engine light came on, and there was a strong smell of gas. I called Kia, and they said bring it over. They checked it, and determined it was only the gas cap that was loose. They said they fixed it. 4 days later, I put gas in it, and the same thing happened. I took it back, and they now have my Kia again. This time, they gave me a loaner Kia, but Im tired of spending my days off in the Kia dealership, getting my 2011 showroom Kia fixed, week after week.

I bought a used 2010 Kia Soul on August 16, 2012; with 60,000-mile warranty. I thought I would be covered for equipment-related vehicle breakdowns. Two days later, on August 18, 2012, which was a Saturday, the car would not start. It was in the afternoon outside a store in the rain. After calling the local Kia dealership, it was expeditiously towed to that dealership. I rented a car and went about my business, hoping that everything would be covered under the excellent warranty. It turned out to be the battery. It was replaced for this dealer, but as a maintenance issue, I had to pay for it. During this process, I was told that the Arizona heat is hard on batteries. This being the case, I believe that Kia policies be changed, and customer not be sent out with an unwarranted battery. To me, it reflects badly on Tempe Kia and Kia as a whole. Another issue is covered in another complaint.

This is the first brand new car I ever bought. I bought it because I was sick of always having to fix my used car. I wrongly assumed I would not have this problem with a new car. I bought it in October. The acceleration sticks on gear change, but I didnt want to spend my life in the shop (again) so I deal with it. When summer hit, I found out the AC didnt work. I scheduled a service time. The guy on the phone was a bit rude but I chalked it up to him probably having a bad day. They dye the AC and tell me to come back in a week. Its still blowing cold, but I bring it back as requested. They cannot find the issue, so they send me on my way. Two weeks later, its blowing hot air again. I have to go back. This time they tell me the hose is broken and replace it. It took them 3 days to replace a single hose. While I am grateful I received a car to drive in the meantime, it was the most disgusting pile of garbage I had ever had the displeasure of driving. Whoever had previously owned this vehicle did not in any way take care of it. After day 3 of calling and waiting for the car to be fixed, I drove over to the dealership after work and vowed to wait until they took care of it, regardless how long it took. I walked in and they asked if I was there to pick up my car. They never bothered to call me.Today I had a flat tire. No spare in the trunk, which I had foolishly thought would be standard for every vehicle. I called the dealership and was told to call roadside assistance, which was free. Okay, fair enough, but if the tire cant be fixed, I cant afford to buy a new one right now, so I dont know if thats a good idea. I was blown off (same guy as earlier, still rude so obviously not just a bad day thing) and told to just call roadside assistance and go from there. I was also told that tires were not covered under the warranty, which was the only question he bothered to answer. Of course they arent. In all, because I did not have a spare tire, it took me 6 hours and a total loss of days wages to get a flat tire fixed, and surprise! Its covered under warranty. So not only was the guy rude, but he lied to me too. I have become more acquainted with the service staff at Kia in the last 9 months than I was with my mechanic in the last two years of my used car. I bought a new car to avoid that.I am very dissatisfied with Kia and their customer service. I requested a manager when I got there, to discuss the issue of the rude representative, and he never once showed his face in the time I was waiting for my car to be fixed. Because of that, I came here to post a public review instead of keeping the issue between me and the manager.

We have called and dealt with the car dealer about the front end thumping sound. We had to replace the tires at 22,000 miles and we had the car in the car dealer 10 times. With only 22,000 miles on the car, we spent $672.15 for new tires and the dealer would not help, Atlantic Kia (out of bus., selling Kias now) in Pleasantville, NJ 08232. Now with 70,000, it needs tires again and the thumping area is the worst of the 3 tires. Now we will spend $550 for new tires. With that we always get rotation, balancing and front end alignments. We have all receipts but Kia will not call or email back and will not help at all.

Kia Rio has a rip under the passenger seat where the handle is located to move the seat. Kia calls this a beneficial feature. I call this a defect as it was not listed in the features of my car, was hidden from me, has already separated so food, liquids, bugs, whatever, can get underneath the carpet. After only three weeks, it has separated. The truth is they cheap-ed out and didnt cover it with the same protective plate they put on the Sorento and higher end models and refuse to fix it. Instead of putting a plastic plate on the Rio to protect the carpet, which has already separated and frayed, they chose to spend the money for that feature on a Sirius button that I can pay extra for. It is defective and I dont recommend purchasing a Rio. Only three weeks and already a defect! Unacceptable!

I purchased a Kia Rio 2011 in August 2012 from Courtesy Ford of Rome. The hubcaps was making a flapping noise when the weather changes. Water leaking in the backseat when it rains, and water leaking in the trunk starting on November 4. Went back and forth to Terry Reid, 25 miles away from Rome. I took it four to five times to see them before it was fixed in February of 2013. The airbag light came on. I had to go to Terry Reid for them to check it. The part was ordered and fixed a month later. Two weeks ago the engine light came on and the car started to put along. Now the car powers down like it is cutting off. I feel like I got a lemon and I plan on sending it back to the people who financed it. Im not paying $352 a month for a car that is not reliable and a waste of my hardworking money. I shouldnt be having all these problems with this car. I havent had it for one year yet and everything started three months after I got it.

DO NOT BUY KIA!!! ITS NOT WORTH IT!! 3 months ago on 4/1/2021, Folsom Lake Kia received my new 2020 Kia Sorento for repairs from the result of a collision (WHICH I HAD JUST BROUGHT SIX MONTHS AGO). They sent my vehicle to Toyota Collision center (right next door) which according to Toyota Collision center would take 1 month to be completed/repaired. However, they notified me that they werent responsible for ordering/shipping of the necessary parts needed to repair my vehicle, that Kia Roseville was responsible. Toyota Collision was ONLY responsible for receiving the parts to repair the damaged car.For the first 30 days, my insurance covered my rental. But come to find out my repairs were going to take longer, due to a part being sent from kia damaged and received damaged by Toyota collision center. Toyota Collision also informed us the remaining parts were on back order due to covid, so you would think they would try to compensate their loyal customers in any way they could. That negligence put my cars repair status back a whole month. So I went to speak with Folsom Lake Toyota collision center to compensate me, since the part was going to have to be reordered because of it arriving damaged. Toyota collision center said its not their job to assists us with a rental, that Folsom lake kia should since theyre the ones working with our insurance and ordering/shipping the parts needed to repair my vehicle. So I took the advice of many people working on site, and I spoke with Folsom Lake Kias head supervisor (Doug I believe his name was) to get my issue handled at the lowest level possible. My wife and I, inquired about a rental or loaner vehicle, until my vehicle was completed/repaired.He informed us that it doesnt work that way and that we would have to contact Kia Motors of America to receive assistance. So we did.... And since then Kia Motors of America along with: Kia Motors Finance, Kia Consumer Affairs, Kia Assistance Team, Kia Collections Department have ALL avoided assisting us with solving our problem, (due to their initial negligence). Theyve ALL hung up on my wife and I, kept us on hold for hours on end, kept transferring my wife and I to different departments to avoid us speaking with their supervisors, been rude and said disrespectful things, tried to get us to sign falsified documents. So 3 (almost 4 months later) of rude, careless, and negligent departments, customer service associates, and supervisors (JILLIAN in collections department being the worst!) Im FED UP, with the horrible service Ive had to endure over the 3 months, which has caused tremendous stress on my wife and I, especially since we have 3 kids one of which is a new born! So since its virtually impossible to reach the head of these departments (cause they keep you on hold). So Ive had to leave a review here! To warn others of the horrible service, THAT COMES WITH PURCHASING A KIALong story short, DO NOT BUY FROM KIA! They dont solve issues at the lowest level possible and DEFINITELY DONT solve issues at the higher levels possible! Even in the midsts of a pandemic we cant receive any genuine help from ANYONE! & if you dont believe me read some reviews from Kia Motor finance!! They do not care about helping you! Money is everything! NOT YOU OR FAMILIES WELLBEING! Be safe, & God bless!

I just wanted to share my story. We bought a 2014 Kia. Shortly after my purchase I discovered I was charged $2100 extra for a service contract (100000 mile warranty). We put a large sum down on the car and would have only owed around $6000. When I checked my paperwork turned out I owed $8000. The dealer had charged me for an extended warranty that I didnt want. So I had to return in person to Cancel after almost two months - the dealer finally sent Kia finance a check for $2100 dollars. So I called Kia finance and ask them to adjust my payments - didnt owe as much money on the car and they told me they would not redo the payments because I agreed to the original payment. I had never heard of anything so asinine in my whole life. Turns out we had to get the car refinanced to lower the payment. What a bunch of rude jerks. They wanted me to pay the same payment on a lower balance!

This is my second Kia Soul! I love the cars performance and the 10 year, 100,000 mile warranty (The best in the business)! That being said, several weeks ago, while driving northbound on the Interstate 5 freeway in densely automobile populated rush hour traffic, I got a flat tire. No big deal. That happens! What doesnt happen is calling Triple A and NOT FINDING A SPARE TIRE in the trunk upon the servicemans arrival! The serviceman was very accommodating. He explained that several years ago, spare tires were omitted as standard equipment (especially in small cars) to improve gas mileage (less weight equals increases fuel efficiency). My last Kia Soul was year 2011 so I didnt know there was no spare in the new models. Oh, by the way, I bought my Kia Soul from Alhambra Kia, Kia of Alhambra! NEVER BUY A CAR FROM THAT DEALERSHIP! Their customer service is absolutely horrible! In my hour of need, I called the dealership to ask why I had not been informed that there was no spare tire in my trunk and I was transferred to an answering machine! I left a message, but NO ONE EVER CALLED BACK!Anyway, I then called the national Kia Roadside Assistance Center where I spoke to an excellent receptionist whose goal was to serve my needs! She referred me to Downtown LA Kia. THIS IS ANOTHER KIA DEALERSHIP YOU SHOULD NEVER EXPECT PROPER SERVICE FROM! The national receptionist said changing the new tire I had bought elsewhere would be free! According to Downtown LA Kia, the service charge was $25. No big deal! EXCEPT FOR THE PRINCIPAL INVOLVED! I had already experienced a potentially traumatic event due to the companys negligence and now, I was just looking for someone, anyone from Kia to offer some form, any form of customer satisfaction! NO ONE SATISFIED MY NEEDS! The next day, I visited KIA OF ALHAMBRA and the manager apologized but HE DIDNT MAKE ME HAPPY! As result, I will never buy another Kia automobile! And I will never ever, never ever never buy a car from Kia of Alhambra!

After just a few months of driving my KIA I noticed spots in my paint. I took it to the dealer. They said it was from tree sap and that the warranty didnt cover it. There was a couple employees of the dealership that told me not to give up as management knows there is a problem with the paint, but they dont know how they are going to handle it. Everyone that I have shown the paint to outside of Kia has said it is poor paint because whatever caused the spots went right through the clear coat. I am sixty one years old and this is the first car that I have ever had that had this problem. I dont park under trees, even though with previous cars I did and had no problem. I always keep my car washed.

Purchased a 2011 Kia Sorrento brand new (less than 100 miles on it) in August of 2014. Went to bring it in for a simple camera replacement that would be covered under the 5 year/60k warranty, only to find out that the warranty started back in 2011 when the car was placed on the lot. So by the time I purchased the car, there were only 2 years left of the warranty unbeknownst to me (even though they sold me the car as new --certainly not a demo). Conveniently no one is able to resolve this issue -- hitting a wall with kiaconsumeraffairs, and the dealership is just not helpful altogether. This is my second Kia, and will now be my last. A lot of headache over a quick repair. Curious if all dealerships do this to lessen the chance of someone making a claim under the warranties -- have them all start prior to the car being sold.

I hope this follow up gets posted also. The car went back again to the dealer Grieco Kia for the Air Conditioner once again. The fuse keeps blowing after replacing the compressor on it. They have had the car since August 22, 2013, and it is now September 1, 2013. They have changed 3 parts on the Air Conditioning system and still, the fuses are blowing and they have driven the car approximately 500 miles of testing our car. They claim that they need to drive the car 100 miles each time they put a new part in. I never heard of such bull. They are doing this so we dont get the car back and bring it back again, because if it goes back 3 or 4 times for the same problem, we can return the car under the Florida Lemon Law. This is why they have not returned our new car to us as of yet. The funny part is that we are making the monthly payments on the car and they Grieco Kia is driving our car all over. The longer this goes on with our new car, the more I am telling people not to buy a Kia or any other brand cars that Grieco Kia sells.

The car should not have a problem with rotors already. Their reasoning is I could have driven through puddles which cooled down the rotors so then they heat back up and cause problems. For two days my new vehicle with only 23000 miles was having trouble starting. The second day was a Saturday. Since this happened to me after 5pm on a Saturday there was no one at the service department. I spoke with an operator who had NO IDEA how to help me or who to direct me to. Frustrated, she directed me the 24 hour road side assistance. I called them and they too were unhelpful. They told me the only thing they could do was tow my vehicle. I said, My vehicle is running at the moment, so where would you tow it to? I asked if road side assistance could come check my battery and was told NO, the ONLY thing they can do is tow your vehicle. Since that would be of no help, I drove to an auto zone. Within 2 minutes a representative from their store was helping me and CHECKED THE BATTERY, which was DEAD. Having no choice but to replace the battery AND no assistance from ANYONE AT KIA, I had to purchase one from AUTO ZONE. Once home, I learned the battery is covered under warranty. Auto Zone would not take the battery back as it had already been put in. I was told that you might be willing to offer the customer service I did not receive in the beginning by refunding the money I spend on a battery. I called my customer service representative and he told me his hands were tied. What kind of service is this? Does KIA care more about $119 than customer service?!? I bought a KIA thinking that the customer service and vehicle would be better than those I have had in the past. So far, I am not thrilled with my purchase.

I was introduced to the Kia brand from a friend of mine. She had owned several Kia’s and absolutely loved them. I was very pleased with my Kia Sedona and used it to haul my children around for quite some time. In 2019 my husband wanted to get me something a little smaller because the kids were getting older and we didn’t necessarily need all the room the Sedona offered all the time. He found a 2017 Kia Sorento at Kia Southside. It was in great shape, had slightly less than 30K miles on it, and it had a third-row seat. It was a beautiful car, but I didn’t really “need” it. I was perfectly content with my Sedona and they couldn’t get the payment down to where I was comfortable. BUT, they had my keys. It was late, I was tired and I wanted to go home. I tried to get my keys back twice. The second time, they were laying on the counter and they stopped me from grabbing them and suddenly all the numbers worked out. That should have been my first red flag! My husband bought the car and we were happy. Until we weren’t…It is now December 2021 and my car is in the shop. I got an error light and took it to my trusted mechanic. He told me that something in my engine has broken loose and blown a hole in the valve cover. He advised me to have it towed to Kia because “Kia owes you something” and that he’s “never seen anything like it” with less than 60K miles on an engine. My car wasn’t due for service again for another 900 miles.I had the car towed to Kia Southside. My service manager advised me that I did have an extended service package/warranty for 100K miles/10 years. He said that they would diagnose it and then have a Fidelity inspector come out to see if it would be covered. He later told me that I had a 50/50 chance because my engine had sludge in it and “they don’t like sludge”. He told me to prepare to show them my service records. Fidelity did deny my claim so my service rep gave me the phone number to call them.I spoke with Fidelity and they said I was denied due to sludge. They were not interested in my records or situation at all. To clarify the situation, I said to the Fidelity rep, “So what you’re saying is service records, or no service records, it doesn’t matter. If there is sludge in the engine, you don’t cover it”. He said that my statement was correct. I asked him how they would know how the sludge got there, as I am the second owner. He said that there is no way to tell if there is sludge unless someone was to take the engine apart. He agreed that the sludge could have been in the engine before I even owned the car. It appears to me that “sludge in the engine” is a convenient catch all to not honor warranties. The Fidelity rep advised me to contact Kia Consumer Affairs.I called Kia Consumer Affairs, explained my situation, and basically the representative told me to call Fidelity. I told him that Fidelity told me to call Kia. He advised me that my 5 year/60K Kia warranty was up and I should pay for the repairs myself. He seemed thoroughly annoyed by my request to speak to a supervisor, but finally said, “They’re just going to tell you the same thing!” and put me on hold. I waited for a bit and then found myself dumped into a supervisor’s voicemail. I did receive a call back from Kia Consumer Affairs. He left me a 32 second voicemail stating that his associate was correct and my warranty was up.So here I sit, with a 2017 Kia Sorento with less than 60K miles on it, with a blown engine and a car payment. I’ve basically used it to tote children back and forth. I don’t drive it hard and I really haven’t put that many miles on it. I don’t hate Kia cars. Simply put, I think I have a defect. I’m asking that Fidelity and Kia do the right thing, fix my car or give me a comparable one at no cost.

Kia overall is a great affordable choice. We have owned 2 Kia Souls and 1 Sorrento. The Sorrento is roomy and versatile. We have 2 kids and its been a wonderful family car. The fold down third row is great for when we need the extra room for groceries. We have taken the car on many road trips and find it very comfortable to travel in, even with small children. We feel safe in it and enjoy having it.

I bought a new 2011 Kia Sorento. I have always had a problem with the acceleration. It does not happen all the time, but now it is more frequent. I have tried to cross the highway, and when I accelerate, it is as if the car has gone dead. It will not accelerate. It will eventually get gas, and move. This is very scary, since I never know when it is going to happen. I only have 20,000 miles on it. I really wish I had not purchased a Kia. Kia mechanics cannot find the problem. I have changed type of gas, with no help. I feel like I am driving a car waiting for an accident to happen!

The little door on my gas cap will not open. I took it to the garage 3 times now. The first time the garage just bent it. The second time they ordered a new door. The third time they just bent it again.Today, on my way home, I was almost on E and of course, my gas door would not open. It is very frustrating to have a car that you are not able to put gas in. I am requesting the Kia dealer to purchase a new gas door for my car, but this time, to give me a door that also has a key entry so I do not get stranded.

Theres a reason Kia and Hyundai have a bad rep around the auto world, and reliability is a pretty good contributor to that image. Bought a 2010 Sorento, not even 9 years old and at 60k miles suffered catastrophic engine failure. At first, engine stalled due to faulty MAF sensor, managed to bring the car back home in limp mode around 3 miles. Replaced it, started it up and after around a minute car starts shaking violently and oil spills out all over the floor. Lifted the engine to see if there was anything that could be a done and a piston had completely destroyed 2 cylinders. Called Kia about this and would cost more to repair than the cars worth. Had a very similar experience with a 2006 Optima, however bought that car used at 70k miles so it wasnt as big of a loss. I guess Im the idiot for thinking Kia/Hyundai reliability would have changed in that 4 year gap. If you want a car to at least 100k miles, stay as far away as humanly possible from these brands.

I drive a Kia Mohave. Bought new 4 years ago. About to clock 100,000 km. Woke up this morning, with my wife and driver to find the car totally shut down. The dashboard, everywhere where there is some light was blinking. The car did not respond to the remote key. The manual key did also not work. Thus we couldnt have access to the car to pick our things. We are 100 km out of Lagos, where we normally reside and we are obviously stranded. I tried to check whether Kia Nigeria has emergency number. I found none.

My 2014 Kia Sorento is peeling. The paint warranty is only for 3 years or 36,000 miles. My vehicle was beyond that. I believe paint should last more than 5 years. Kia differs. They refuse to do anything. Despite the fact that the paint is peeling off in 2-3 inch chips, they insist there is nothing wrong with their paint. carcomplaints.com shows many customers are having the same issue. A car paint expert even explained how the paint process was done incorrectly. I will have to pay $1000 plus to have my Kia repainted and then I plan to trade it in quickly before any more of the paint peels off. I will never buy a KIA again.

I took my brand new Kia 2013 (purchased in October 2012) in because I noticed peeling paint and rust spots. They had me bring it in numerous times, took pictures, etc. to only be told that it was my fault. They said the rust looks like a rock hit it, and the peeling paint must be from someone getting in and out of the car. They told us that our paint and corrosion warranty didnt cover this. The car is brand new and we dont drive too far in it. I also keep our cars very clean, both inside and outside. My husband works from home and I work 5 minutes from home so there is no excessive use in our car. Even if there was, there is no way this should happen. I purchased a 2004 Nissan Altima in February of 04 and just sold it in June. It had no paint issues nor rust. Also, the city gas mileage isnt what they advertise and we told them about that. They simply said, there are no current recalls. Also, when we start the car first time of the day and reverse, it makes a grinding noise. I told them about this, they checked it out 3 times now, and said they cant reproduce the sound. Also, when we bought the car, we asked for a 3rd spare key. The saleswoman said this would be no problem. We called, emailed, and showed up in person and each time were told that it would be sent to us. This began in October of 2012 when we bought it and it is now August 2013 and we have never received a key. They literally begged us for a great review when we bought the car and we gave it to them because there were no issues immediately. They raved how their customer support was top of the line, I DISAGREE! I plan on pursuing my complaints with the BBB, local news, consumer reports, and via word of mouth.

I have just bought a Kia Sorento 2018 this month. What I want the public to learn here is not to repeat the same mistake that I made at the dealership. I was actually happy to buy the Sorento, but when I signed the paperworks, I didn’t pay too much attention to the details. All I had in mind was I was gonna pay the amount that me and the salesman agreed on. I did not catch an additional fee for EXTENDED WARRANTY. This was not even explained to me. I was not aware of it. It costed me $2700, and since this was added to the loan amount. It would basically cost me more. Now when I look at my new Kia Sorento, I feel ashamed of myself for buying Kia. I was just foolish!!! God knows how I could forgive myself.

I purchased a KIA Sorento in 2013. It was brand new. In 2017 at about 30,000 miles, it started producing a lot of blue exhaust. It continued to produce the blue exhaust, so I took it into KIA Roseville to get it serviced. They changed the oil, did regular maintenance, and checked out the problem. When I went in to pick up my car, they said everything was fine, and there was some sludge, but it should work its way out. They also told me to call them if the problem persisted. The problem did persist, so I called KIA Roseville, and asked if I should bring the car back in. They said that the problem was probably caused by the sludge, and that I should just continue driving on it to work the sludge out. Well, I kept driving on it, and even drove from Sacramento to San Diego. When I got back from my trip to San Diego, my car started making a strange noise. I called KIA, and made an appointment to get it checked out again. I took my car in, and this time they told me my engine was about to fail, and that we needed to replace it. They also said that KIA would probably not cover the warranty, because we were missing some of our maintenance-receipts. They told us that there was excessive sludge. What kind of car gets excessive sludge in the engine at 30,000 miles? Oh, and mind you, I never had one warning light go on in the car. Well, it turns out this problem with KIA Sorentos, and other models, is happening everywhere. I have found hundreds of views with the exact same problem.

Our 2014 KIA Sorento audio volume speed control doesnt work when the vehicle accelerate, we have to keep adjusting the volume both when we are at high speed (highway) and low speed (city). The Kia dealer didnt find any fault, so they took the car for a test drive and compared it with other new SUV and they said they noticed that the volume changed barely, but so small (or low) that anyone barely will notice that the volume adjusted itself, and they said without KIA directed them to do something, they cant. So they told me to call KIA and explain the problem and thats were the unwelcome and the frustration came in: I called KIA to explain the problem so I can have a better understanding of whats going! Everything was going okay til I mention the complaint about the volume and she became very angry with me and started to speak very loud! She asked the name of the dealer and the name of the person handling the repair etc., and she said if the dealer said the SUV is working normally then it is. So I tried to explain to her of what the dealer did and how they couldnt diagnose the problem, but she became so angry with me all of a sudden that she was very hard to talk to! So I thank her for her NO HELP and hang up.I am frustrated with this because I found out that I am not the only Sorento owner with this problem, and the way she was on the defensive, Im pretty sure she has heard about the problem. I have a 2001 Chevy Impala and it has that audio volume speed control feature and guess what??? It works flawlessly and KIA cant make the same system work on a 2014 model?? Really. I want KIA to look into this problem and update the SUV systems.

I have been car owner for than 18 years in Canada and always owned Toyota. I got KIA Spectra in 2005 from 401 Dixie KIA dealership. Within year, I had a heating problem; it was shutting off and turning on. I took the car to the dealer, and they checked but could not find the reason and sent me back. After a few days, in snow, I was on highway and driving when the heat got dead and I had my family with me. All the way, I was cleaning the windshield from inside with my shirt and got home. The next day, I was very angry and took the car to a dealer, and finally, they replaced the hearing coil. In the next few months, my Speedo meter was starting to jam and becoming normal again. And due to that, I got one speeding ticket and took the car to dealership but they could not find anything, since my warranty was done. My stereo got problems, and my passenger side door glass had issue (It is not working to bring it up or down). Since I got this car, it has the worst electronic problems. I will never advise to buy KIA and will never go back to KIA, and Im hoping that company will check the record for my car and offer to fix it.

During a service oil change at 30,000 miles, I was presented with an affidavit from KIA stating that I must pay $275.95 every 15,000 miles in order to keep my KIA warranty in effect and this had to be signed. This charge is to check the valves for carbon build up. If I don’t do this the warranty will be nullified. This new requirement is 2 years after the purchase of my KIA Sorento. This is a new action after the fact and KIA is charging the customer to keep it in effect. This was not a condition of our original warranty. Since this was the first time it was implemented, my dealer, Martin Swanty in Kingman, AZ discounted this charge to $179.00 plus tax.

Updated on 12/16/2019: Original Consumer Affairs complaint was filed 12/05/19. Their solution: They contacted the dealer that the body shop making the repairs is receiving the part from a wholesale part company. They yet again after 2 missed dates of which they claim the part would have arrived in which never happened. Now they claim they contacted the dealer with a new date of December 23rd 2019. Best part of it, They wont provide a rental (which most dealers have loaners) and also declined reimbursing the portion of the cost due to them not having the part available for my vehicle nor any other similar make/year. So because they cant provide it or dont have it customers like us need to wait and suffer. Why because as the customer escalations specialist described unfortunately they are coming from overseas, he did tell me that it has been put on an emergency status. We will not offer reimbursement or a rental at this time because you are outside of warranty and you are having the repairs done at a 3rd party. I do apologize. Not only have I not had the vehicle mind you (still financed) for 3 months now while paying for a rental right before Christmas but the only solution they could provide was calling the dealer for a proposed new date of arrival. But me as a customer need to jump threw hoops and submit claims both here and on social media and BBB just to get someone to pick up the phone.I have 4 children and with more than $900 worth of rental costs + deductible + an open ended date of when a part will come in with the only solution being a new date of arrival, and sorry that all we can offer is ridiculous. As the Regional manager said I am a regional manager, I would be the one you would pursue this. Unfortunately, we are not offering that. I will follow up with that dealer to make sure they get the part.Original Review: Be-careful buying a KIA. I thought I was being smart by buying a KIA which normally Id go for Dodge or Chevy! For 3 months my 2016 Kia Sedona has been in a shop waiting for KIA to actually provide or shall I say Manufacture a part in South Korea. Meanwhile I am paying for a rental. Corporate customer service couldnt help much. I was told the part needs to be ordered within the dealer, and the district manager needs to request it from Kia in South Korea to have it made. Its a damn wire harness. 3 Months with No ETA is unacceptable! I cant believe the manufacturer of the vehicle cant produce the part # 91112-A9370. I am willing to trade in the damn vehicle and NEVER BUY KIA AGAIN! I bought the car to last on the road for my family, not to last parked at the shop! Ridiculous.

I bought a 2018 KIA Soul in May of 2018. There was no visible signs of rust on the car at the time. After about a month of driving it I took it to the car wash. At close inspection after the wash I noticed rust on the lower part the back passenger doors (both sides of the car...same place). I contacted the KIA dealer, they took pictures and sent them with the info to a corp. office somewhere. Their response was that the rust was caused by an outside source and they would not cover it. So I contacted KIA in Cal. Got the same answer. Thats Bull. This is a new 2018 car...it should not have any rust on it, plus they should have took measures to prevent such an occurrence. OK, so I bought a used 2006 Sorento in 2008 with 30,000 miles. It seemed nice, but I did not have it for a week. Then, the headlight and taillight were out. The dealer fixed it and said it was under warranty, to go to Kia. I went to a Kia dealer, they told me it had a recall and needed new wiring harness for both front and back. They ordered them. When I went back for the scheduled appointment, they had not ordered it and the next time I went back, the dealer had closed! I went to a nearby town. Kia ordered the front and corrected the headlight. But the rear, they claimed they knew nothing about. I had to return because the headlight again burned out and they told me to use Kia bulbs, so I did at $53.00 per replacement? Come on, now theres no way I am replacing them. I went back about the rear and had a small crack in the taillight. They told me that was the problem. However, the problem existed before the crack in the taillight. I was out on that as well and I have to wonder where that crack came from. I had the car serviced a few weeks ago and had 7 taillights replaced as all were out. I bet you, I have put in $100 since I have had this car. The lighter in the car quit working, they replaced that. Of course, it lasted for two weeks. The phone charger does not work either, but did in the beginning. It no longer does. Now time for inspection and the service engine light came on. They said I need two oxygen sensors and a new converter. This car has 75,000 miles on it. What is it made of and do I have a reason to complain? If you buy a used Kia, you only get 65,000 miles on warranty, not the 100,000. I dont even dart on the door of their service department after a $53.00 light bulb that burnt out the same as the one from a local parts house. Very disappointed in this car and I wont go that route again unless something changes, until everything fell apart on it. I would have bought a new one this year.

I was taking my son to the hospital. The hospital we use is about an hour away from our residence. Three deer crossed the roadway. The last deer got confused, started to run back my way so I swerved to miss it. I hit loose gravel but did not know that when I did that it had ripped the oil pan off the motor. It stuck the throttle on and brakes useless. So I had no brakes and the throttle was stuck on. The van struck the embankment head on which was steep because at the top was a railroad track. The same track AMTRAC uses. Anyway after hitting the embank the van proceeded to hit a guide wire which pressed the hood into the motor and left scratches all over the van. It spun the van around, both sides of the van were hit against the pole, wire or embankment or ditch. The van proceed to climb the embankment, no brakes with the throttle stuck. I knew the other was going to be a roll because we were at an angle. Black smoke was pouring into the van. I am scared of black smoke (I was in a house fire 3 years ago. I was the last one out and suffered 2nd/3rd degree burns. I was life lined to Springfield). I couldnt see my son. I could hear him, he would answer me, but I could not see him. At the top of the tracks I heard him say we are going to roll. I said the airbags will deploy. How wrong was I. Just by chance that last tire was hanging onto the track. There was o2 tanks in the van (because of the fire 3 years ago, I burnt my lungs... I inhaled the flame). My seat belt did not lock. I hit the steering wheel, my breasts are bruised. I have a hernia and cant find an attorney that will go up against them. MY son had to have 12 stitches in his leg. I went to the hospital by ambulance because I couldnt breathe. NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. So much for 5 stars. MY SEAT BELT DID NOT LOCK. I HATE KIA.

I traded in 2012 Kia Soul for a 2015 Kia Soul Plus. I got the car in June and I have been listening to the 3 month free promotion of Sirius Radio. I did not even notice that my new Kia has no CD player, until the other day when I went to put in a CD. I was completely shocked. My 2012 Kia did have it and I thought that the CD player was standard. I was not told when I leased this new 2015 Kia that there was no CD player. I feel that the salesman should have pointed that out to me. I am extremely disappointed and now I am looking through stores to see if I can buy a portable one to put in my car. I understand that changes are sometimes made, but a change like this should have been brought to my attention when I leased this car. This is a feature, for me, that is very important.

Nothing but harassment and terrible customer service. We purchased the Kia Soul in 2011. We love the car and havent really had any problems with it at all. Our nightmare comes from Kia Motors Finance. After being laid off of a job we had to survive on my wifes check. She has recently had knee replacement surgery putting her out of work and reducing our income to that of a disability check. Needless to say, it has become a struggle to make ends meet from month to month and our payments have suffered. Kia claims they are willing to work with us on the matter but by that they mean constant harassing phone calls demanding money. After finally getting another job, we are able to start working on catching up on our payments. However, we woke this morning to discover our car is gone.Time and time again I have tried to explain our situation to Kia Motors Finance. Time and time again it seems my words have fallen on deaf ears. The only work with you method these people know is the constant barrage of phone calls (several calls a day) asking when we can send payments and even more ridiculous, how much we can send. Even after managing to send a total of $700.00, we continued getting these calls. The associates are rude and unwilling to actually help anyone. They speak to customers with the attitude that we are being a bother to them or they have something better to do than talk to you about your situation. My intent to send another $550.00 payment has come to a halt with the disappearance of our car. If someone isnt actually willing to work with us and I lose my job because of no transportation, Kia will not see another penny of my money which is of no consequence to them being a multi-million dollar company. My late payments are not going to send these people spiraling into bankruptcy. After this car gets paid off I will never buy another Kia again or recommend it to a friend not because of the quality of the car, which is excellent, but because of the poor quality of customer service at the finance department. They need to re-think their methods of customer service or re-train their representatives whose lack of compassion and inability to listen to their customers is a large, oozing stain on their reputation.

Told at 15000 service not covered by warranty as it was due to plastic dash etc and classed as normal. 27000 rattle driving me mad, again not covered by warranty. Spoke to RACQ, they felt it was definitely a warranty problem. Contacted Kia Sydney, ** promised to ring back. Still waiting, contacted Kia in Korea no response. I took my Soul to Kia due to a screeching noise in the front while braking
I took my Soul to Kia due to a screeching noise in the front while braking thinking there may be a stone stuck in the pad. Come to find out the rotors had rusted in the front only to the point that they were pitted. I bought the car a few months prior from an independent dealer and the Kia dealer said that the car must have sat for a while but they were not sure. Thus is just conjecture on their part. They said the rotors were not covered because the warranty does not cover rust. They recommended that I call Kia corporate and see if they will make an exception. I called and was treated poorly by Robin, a supervisor, but after an exercise in patience she agreed to escalate the issue to the district service manager. It has been 3 working days and I am still waiting to hear back from them. I had to take it back so they could get pictures of the rotors over the weekend. The funny thing is that rotors on the rear are fine which makes no sense unless poor rotor quality or substandard design with the front brake system. The service department says that the district service manager will likely approve it but it can take another day or two and it will take more time to get the parts in. Meanwhile I am driving a car that the front brakes sound terrible and I feel unsafe driving. Very poor customer service and quality.

My mom has a 2013 Kia Soul. My mom does not drive on the freeway nor does she travel. She is retired and only drives around town. The car only has 30,000 miles on it is 6 years. She gets it maintenance on time at the dealership only. Last year the car started jerking and jumping when you would step on the gas while you were driving. She took it to the dealership. They fixed it, now this year the car is paid off and my mom has moved to Arizona from California. The car is doing it again, and now the engine light is coming on. She now has to pay big bucks to get it diagnosed and fixed maybe. My point is. After buying a new car off the lot, loving and caring for the car by way of dealership only like they suggest, using the best gas, and very low mileage, this car should last forever! So KIAs in my opinion are ** cars, now my 71 years old mother has to be dealing with this instead of enjoying her retirement. IM PISSED!

I purchased my 2014 Kia Sorento after it was a leased vehicle for two years. I was thrilled at the beginning until halfway through year 2 of owning it ALL of my paint started peeling off of the roof and the sides of the windshield. After fighting Kia for months and them denying that anything with their paint is faulty and taking it to numerous repair shops I got it painted for the low low price of $1,000. I then had the OTHER side of my windshield start peeling less than 2 weeks after I got the driver side painted resulting in me having to fight with Kia again. I have been fighting this battle since June of 2018 and am still waiting for my reimbursement check from consumer affairs for the first round of repainting. They apparently keep forgetting to hit their magical process button for my check as that is the excuse Ive now received 3 times from them. DO NOT BUY ONE OF THEIR CARS. The paint is not properly applied and is not thick enough and will start peeling just before year 4 of owning the car. Kia will tell you they only insure their paint job for 3 years and that you are out of luck. This product is faulty and they are not willing to do anything except turn you away and not acknowledge the problem. Terrible company.

In March of 2012, I purchased a new 2012 Kia Rio. Not long after having it, the radio would not read CDs. I had it in the dealer service department several times, and I would still have the same problem. The dealer finally decided to replace the radio with a re-manufactured one. The refurbished one that was put in was even worse than the original one. It would freeze up, go out, and do things without me touching it. Also, I would lose control of it, and it would even stay on after the car was shut off, key taken out of ignition, and car locked. I took it to another dealer to have them look at it. And after a long period of time of having problems with it, it was replaced again with yet another refurbished one. It worked okay for a while, and now all of a sudden, when turned on, there is no sound. There is no sound whatsoever when I run the volume knob up and down. I am fed up with Kia for their products and service! I will never buy another Kia! I am in the process of filing a lemon law claim with the BBB. They should buy this vehicle back after countless sorry attempts to fix the problem and Im still having trouble out of it!

I rate Petes Car Smart and KIA a negative star. If zero star means bad, then negative stars for both of them. But if you are asking 5 stars or more is bad, then lets say 6 stars. I dont get answers from the service manager besides their nothing wrong with your car. Yes, we can see it used oil but there is nothing wrong with it. The only time they talked to me was when I was there because once I left, they never returned my call or even tried to explain anything to me. So I would say KIA and Petes are a joke or KIA should get sue for false ads which they say they have the best warranty. I could say the same if I never had to warrant anything. My 2007 KIA Sportage that I got brand new had around 46000 miles when I started to notice it using oil. Its using half a quart every 3000 miles under normal driving conditions. I shouldnt have to change it until 7000 miles. So if it using half a quart every 3000 miles, one could say it will use 1 quart every 7000 miles. Petes and/or Kia did an oil test to see if it uses oil, but they will or have not want to do it at 7000 miles. Last time I went in there to get it checked at the 3000, they topped it off and said they would call me. But I have not gotten a call from them. I told them I wish they had not top it off because I wanted to bring it back at 7000 miles and see how much oil it had use. HQ is a joke also, I have played phone tag with a lady in Atlanta and her reason for not calling me is because of my cell number (which is a KY number) and they thought I was in her time zone. I left message for her to call me at 8, her time, which would be 7AM my time so I could talk with her. For weeks, no reply. They would call during my work day. After weeks of leaving messages and trying to get that same person, I got a direct number for her. But after talking to her, she too is telling me theres nothing wrong with my SUV. Its normal for a car to use oil (yes, if it had lots of miles and never got regular oil changes). She did tell me that KIA would be more than happy to service my SUV, but I would have to pay for it. If they did find something, they would be more than happy to cover it under the warranty. Like they are going to tell me the truth. I have told my boss and all my friends not to buy any KIA vehicles at all. I have told all my friends not to purchase any KIA or cars from Petes Car Smart in Amarillo, TX and now I wish someone had done the same for me. If anyone has had the same problems with their KIA, I would like to know about and what you have done. I dont care what car you had as long as it is a KIA.

I bought a 2021 KIA Stinger and they have an Important Safety Recall. I have been on the phone with the Service Manager at KIA in Frederick, Maryland a few times today and I have been on the phone with the KIA business office most of the day, trying to get a loaner car till they can fix my car which is not till Monday. They are REFUSING to give me loaner car. I have a fulltime job and a 3 year old and they are just flat out saying we will not get or give you a loaner car. I am so upset that they are holding me to get a rent a car for a RECALL they have. The service manager at the KIA in Frederick, MD is so rude and nasty she has no right being in the customer service field. I have never been spoken to as I have been spoken to today by both the service manager and the recall department at the business office. I have reached out to the BBB and I am now speaking an attorney just in case my car breaks out in flames. The paperwork clearly states the following Park your vehicle outdoors and away from other vehicles or stretchers until you have the recall performed. And they still will not give me a loaner. This is unacceptable. I hope anyone that is looking to buy a car stays clear from KIA automobiles.

While vacationing, the engine on my KIA blew with no warning. No pre-warning engine light, just a complete engine fail. Fortunately it was under warranty, so the repairs will be at no cost to me. Also, I had the good fortune to be sent to a phenomenal service/dealer, Youngblood KIA in Springfield, MO, theyve been fantastic!! Unfortunately, the only thing KIA customer service has been able to provide is the runaround. My son and I have contacted Consumer Affairs multiple times and each time I receive a different answer/response. First the rental is approved, then the rental is in question, then they dont know what to tell me, oy vey!! All Im asking is for them to stand by their customer, who had to leave the car 7.5 hours from home. Im requesting a rental and a reunite of my vehicle once prepared. You would think this would be easy, wrong. If this is the type of customer service I receive on a warranty repair, I will NEVER buy another KIA vehicle. In addition, I will tell everyone I know about this experience so the buyer is aware of what they may be getting into. For the record, the service/dealership in Springfield, MO is paying for my rental in Ohio... That is how you serve your customer. I may have to purchase all of my vehicles from them going forward, theyve already acknowledged that theyll ship a purchased vehicle to Ohio.

I have a leased Kia Soul with just over 10K miles. Oil changed and not even darkened. Was driving to pick my son up in WVa. From home, a 6 hour ride. Picked him up, stopped, got a bite to eat and headed back to NC. Drove an additional 2 hours. Engine just stopped. Left my son and I stranded in middle of nowhere in WVa. Car was towed to dealer in Charleston where I have been told I must have struck something in the rode. Busted radiator! I never hit a damn thing not even a pot hole! Had to get a rental to get back to NC. I have no eyes on the damage. Asked for pix and have received none to date. Does the term rip off mean anything? The first service manager stated they saw no damage of anything being struck... Now the second one says yes! This is crap! Now my insurance says they may not pay to have the motor repaired/replaced. So I may have a car that Im paying a monthly rental fee on that doesnt run! What happens when the rental agreement expires?

I mean they kept on changing dates on me. They kept on give me the run-around. This is Kia Financing people, Kia Financing. Theyll rip you off. Take your money and then tell you to go to hell and take a chill pill. Im a first responder from 9/11 okay and this is the way they treated me. If it was in that I just bought my car I would just trade it in or burn. People not supposed to be disrespectful like that to a customer no matter who they are Finance supervisor whatever. This Finance supervisor I hope the CEO will see this and fire you. I talked to her today. 22nd of February. Look it up. Youll find out shes a miserable individual. She told me to take a pill to relax. No its so relaxing when you disrespect somebody who served this country for 32 years. And you probably wasnt even born then. Kia Financing that will charge you an arm and a leg. Im stuck with a car paying $500 a month and I could buy probably BMW or Mercedes and pay that much. But other than that if it wasnt for the dealership done helping I wouldnt had no money to eat. Because Kia Financing is fraudulent they dont care who you are. The supervisors should be all fired instantly and replace with people that are more knowledgeable and more public relations than being a nasty hag. That is my complaint. They are the worst horrible people to finance through. The dealership I got it from is great, but the financing company Kia - the Better Business Bureau and everybody else is going to find out about how bad they are. Dont piss off a Marine.

2011 Optima - We purchased this vehicle brand new 20 months ago at Big Red in Norman. No problems until approx. Jan/Feb, the engine started making bad noises. I took it to Big Red service dept. They treated us like we were idiots and they didnt hear anything. I took it back as it progressively got worse, only to be told they didnt know what the noise was but they could not fix it and sent us away. We traveled to Bob Howard Kia in Edmond, OK and wasted two weekends only to be sent away and told we never changed the oil! Its ridiculously disrespectful to us to assume we didnt take care of this brand new vehicle! We each have brand new cars and trucks in this family and each one of us care 100% for each vehicle. On time oil changes, all maintenance, etc! Finally, service manager, Todd **, said, Prove you did oil changes! Bring receipts! We spent a full week collecting as many receipts as humanly possibly! I drove back to Kia Edmond to show to service manager, Todd **, only to be told after another wasted day of waiting and given the runaround, at last he said, Oh but they didnt use Kia filters. Sorry, now I cannot help you! Nowhere does any document you sign buying a brand new car does it indicate you have to use a Kia filter only! This service manager was making things up as he went along to us! Very upset. Now, the car cannot even be driven! We need help ASAP or comments on what to do now? I contacted every single Oklahoma State Organization I could think of and Kia Edmond online several times and still not one phone call or email. Originally I left a 5 star review, but times have changed and the honeymoon is over. When I bought my car 2 years ago the salesman was good. I cant hate on Frankie. But dont be mislead by all these 5 star reviews. My gripe with this dealer is how they treated me during a service, WHICH HAS NOW MADE ME LOSE ALL RESPECT FOR THIS DEALER AND THIS BRAND. My car is still brand new with only 12k miles. With this many miles nothing should break on this car unless its defective. I experienced a broken wheel stud and lug nut. The wheels on my car have never been off before so obviously they must have cross threaded it at the factory. When I tried to remove it, it wouldnt budge and snapped (I was swapping wheels). Kia claimed I must have cross threaded it? How do you cross thread a lug nut when you are trying to loosen it?? Morons!!KIAs prestigious warranty would not cover it. This billion dollar company couldnt honor a warranty on a defective part that costed 10 bucks. So I asked how much to repair, since I needed it fixed? 75 bucks... Fine. Ill pay it and wait to avoid any more grief. 3 HOUR later the service advisor says we have a problem. The whole front end needs to come apart to put a 10 dollar stud in (hub, bearing, knuckle) and would need all the new parts too!!?? Huh??? Why!!? Commission maybe!!? The new price 504.00!!! LMFAO. You guys are out of your minds. Where did you make that price up... I called KIA corporate to find out about the warranty to pay for this defective part. Nothing. Useless and full of excuses.I had enough and pulled my car out of there. Guess what. Took it to a PROFESSIONAL shop and they did it for less than half the price!! Coleman KIA you lost me, and Ill make sure to let everyone know to stay away from you and KIA in general. For anyone thinking of a KIA, think hard, because when your car malfunctions (WHICH IT WILL) you will get nothing but excuses as to why the warranty will NOT cover it!!! 2013 Kia Optima Hybrid - I have taken my vehicle to the Alhambra dealer 4 times due to a clicking noise on the brake and accelerator every time I would come to a light or a stop. The first 2 times they would fix it and then the noise would come back in a few days. The third time they did not find any noise which is irritating because I would hear every single day. The fourth time I went on a ride along with a mechanic and he clearly heard the noise so they had me waiting there for 4 hours till they told me I had to leave the car for further inspection. The vehicle was left at the dealer on 3-14-2018.As of today I still do not have my vehicle and they did not offer a rental or anything, I have been getting rides to work and back home and neither did they give me a date to pick up my vehicle. I call on a daily basis for an update and they just keep giving me the runaround and the majority of the time they do not return my calls when I leave voicemails, I also opened a case with KIA and the supervisor that has my case does not return my calls or emails either. I have owned my Kia since May 2006 had it now for a little over five years. I too, like many other, called Kia consumer assistance line the first few weeks after purchasing the car from Kia Country in South Carolina. Like everyone else, I thought I got a deal and the sales people were really nice too, until you sign the paperwork and they put the keys in your hand. That is when all of the problems begin.I complained of the paint peeling. They told me that there was nothing that they could do, so I let it go because it wasnt very noticeable, but that was my mistake. After that, more and more problems began to occur like the blinker lights blow out every couple of months. Twice, they blow out at the end of the drive way. I brought my car right back to them and all they did was replace it, but the very last time, I refused to take my car back until they did some further investigation. They did, and the results were that they had a short, so I went. After another couple of months, they blew out again. The air bag light comes on and goes off. They were supposed to fix it again, but like everything Kia supposedly fixed, doesnt last very long but only a few months. My chamber and chassis cannot be aligned per tires, plus I brought the 3 year alignment when I purchased new tires from them last year, but have never had a proper alignment. They suggested that I take it to the dealer. I took it to the dealer in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011. All of these existing problems, the dealer did not fix or dont want to produce paper for.Now that the warranty is no longer effective, they want me to pay for all of the problems that were never addressed by corporate or the dealer Stokes Hodges Kia of Augusta, GA customer service. They have had about 4 or 5 managers since the purchase of my car. I was considering buying another Kia some time ago, but with the many ongoing problems I had with my Kia, I would never buy another Kia ever in life. You have poor customer service. KIA is by far the worst company to deal with. The vehicles are horrible, and their warranty is a scam. I have had issues with my KIA Stinger since day one, and it has been nothing but fight after fight to get warranty work done. I have had 3 dealerships and multiple reps at their so called Premium Care division. The reps at corporate are all rude, and act as if they are doing you a favor. They do not care that the car has issues, and blame the dealers. I have had to get the Attorney Generals office involved with a consumer fraud case as well. Do yourself a favor and stay away from KIA. Their vehicles look good on paper, but they are cheaply made and will have many issues.I purchased 2 new 2018 vehicles, both the top of the line KIA has to offer, and they are nothing but trouble. One issues after another. We have a Honda CRV that is 4 years old and has never had to make a visit to the dealer for an issue. Better to have a shorter warranty on a reliable car, than to have to have the car at the dealer every week. As of this writing, my car has been at the dealer for service for 70 days and counting. They still have no idea how to fix the issue. And all this time I am expected to continue to make payments while not having a car for over 2 months. Please do yourself a favor and do not buy KIA. Just do a little research and you will see all the issues these vehicles have. I wish I had done better research before purchasing.

Recently our daughter left the overhead and parking lights on overnight, draining the battery. Normally that would not have been a big deal. However, the car was parked in a carport and COULD NOT be moved out of it to get a jump start because the car could NOT be taken out of Park into Neutral!!! It took about a dozen calls to find a service station that had a portable jump system to come out and get the 2014 Kia Sorento started, causing my wife to miss a doctors appointment.

I have a 2012 Soul with 43K miles. Last week the engine light came on and it started sounding like a sewing machine. I took it to the Kia dealership in Macon, GA. After only pulling the dipstick out, they determined that two litters had collapsed from starving of oil. With no service record because I change the oil myself (who can afford what a dealership charges?), engine repair/replacement is not covered under warranty. So they want $4,800 for a used engine with 6,000 miles or $7,800 for a remand engine from the factory. Its time Kia steps up to the plate and backs this crap theyre putting on the roads.

I will start off with what everyone is thinking when reading these... Yes, I am only writing this because I am angry and if my experience was just normal I would probably not write anything, but they earned this. I am currently going through the passing of my mom and all the challenges that come with it. I returned her leased car 2 months early, even though she has multiple letters offering her deals to bring her car back early because it is in demand. Then I receive the bill in the mail weeks later advising she owes $950 for returning the car early and $65 for wear and tear which just seems made up. I attempted to discuss with them, but they said they would not talk to me if I am not on the account. I got the email to send the proof of what happened and sent in what was necessary. I sent it 3 times without any action. I called and finally got the one helpful person to help me with submitting these documents. A few days later I got a letter saying sorry for my loss and asking me what I plan on doing with the car. How is this not a joke? They had the car for over a month. I submitted a complaint to Kia America and after passing the 48 hour waiting period, I heard nothing. I just submitted an updated complaint as I just got another letter in the mail for my mom, thanking her for returning her car and another bill, as if they never interacted with me before. I guess they are playing ignorant to get to the strategy of what one of their workers said, Why dont you just ignore it for 120 days and then it will just go to collections. Thank you Kia, thank you for absolutely no help and adding more stress to the most stressful and sad time of my life.

I cant believe all these people have had the same issue regarding their motor blown. I have a Kia Soul (2010) at 50,000 miles. Motor burnt up right in front of my eyes! No engine light, no oil light just pop... done! And as I read on and on, I see this is a very common issue. Dealerships are refusing to admit Kia has an issue with this and manufacturer refusing to pay under warranty. This is a class action lawsuit if I ever saw one! I am copying all of these complaints and if someone has already started one let me know. If not, Im on my way to do so. Enough is enough, email me with your story and we will need evidence so make sure you have all paperwork.

I traded in my 2011 Kia Sorento (that I loved!) and purchased a 2015 Kia Sorento in July 2014. On November 7, 2014, my husband and I were driving to the dealership for an oil change and then headed out of town for the weekend. We were about 15 miles from the dealership, on a three-lane interstate in rush hour traffic going 70 mph when the engine killed without any warning. Luckily we were able to get to the side of the road safely. We were unable to start the vehicle yet, all the lights would come on. We called the dealership and they told us to call Roadside Assistance. We had the Sorento towed to the dealership. They said a tech would look at it over the weekend and offered the number to Enterprise Car Rentals. We rented (and paid for) a vehicle (A 2015 KIA SORENTO with the same amount of miles!) so we could continue on our trip. On November 10, 2014, the dealership called to say the engine had blown, they didnt know why, and had never seen this in a brand new car. My husband had to suggest that they offer a loaner car. As of today, November 17, 2014, I still have the loaner, supposedly the new engine has arrived at the dealership yet now they need to order a new starter because that died too after trying to start the vehicle when the engine died (??). I am NOT a happy Kia customer and am not happy with their product to say the least. Now I am tied into a hefty finance agreement for a substandard vehicle that has been out of commission for 10 days and counting. I wish I would have purchased a Chevy Traverse.

I had to call Kia roadside asst. Here is the number 800 333 4542. They came and towed it to the nearest dealership. Im now waiting at home missing work, waiting for the dealership to call me. Do not buy or lease a Kia. I would be better off with a bicycle.

The 2011 Kia Forte ran great for 50K miles. Then, I guess I hit a rock - thats what the dealer told me - that apparently damaged the transmission fluid line underneath the car. They fixed it and told me the transmission was fine. So 1,250 miles later, the tranny locks up in 4th gear. Now, Kia is telling me that I should call my insurance company to take care of this. I told them, “No way. You guys told me it was fine. Now, you want to backtrack and blame the so-called accident.” Now, they’re saying if their metal in the bottom of the filter, then its on me. I dont think so.

My Kia has just over 7,000 miles and the last 4 months I have been plagued by the car not starting. Dealer diagnosis is always good. Finally they thought it was a battery cable. Car ran fine for 2 months, now back to same problem. If I just the dead car, it will run fine for about 2 weeks, then it dies again. No one can figure this out. Kia should take responsibility for this vehicles problems but I find no one cares and Im stuck with a relatively new car, low miles and chronic starting problems. Is there anything Consumer Affairs can do to help?

I’ve bought three Kia cars. I love the design and price but I’m done with Kia. Two of the cars have had engine problems. One the rod went through the engine (Kia Soul). They replaced it with no problem, gave me a rental car and everything went smoothly. This second one has been painful (Kia Sorento). After months and multiple trips to the dealer because a light was on but they couldn’t find any issue, the car finally stopped working in the middle of rural GA. Because of the pandemic, while they fixed the engine, I had to rent a rental car. Of course it took months, I understand parts etc are issues at this point. But in the almost three months since I’ve had the car back and I’ve had to take the car in for that same light twice with fixes that I’ve had to pay for, I haven’t received my rental reimbursement after submitting the request almost three months ago but they’ve said I went over their daily cap for reimbursement despite the fact I had the lowest tier rental and used a discount code. Note, nowhere in the paperwork or multiple conversations with the dealer and corporate did they say there was a daily cap. And they’re not responding to requests for an update. I’m going to look for a new SUV this weekend. I’m done with Kia!

Im being forced into getting a car loan. First off I was okay with the deal and signed the contract you know traditional deal I drove home. I got a letter in the mail stating I had to return it at their expense. I was all up for it since I felt they lied on the terms of the contract to me verbally. So they instead told me to come in to sign a 2nd contract, I refused to and they pushed to get the first contract financed. This was after I left the car there and had told them I did not want this deal and their business anymore. I went back and forth between the dealership Rally Kia in Palmdale, Kia consumer affairs, and Kia financial trying to get this straightened out but they were persistent on making me take all the blame.

I had the warranty in my hand and was couldnt believe this was happening. I bought the Kia for its warranty and now Im being punished. So after getting nowhere with Kia except they said they fired the salesman because he was misleading other customers as well. I got nowhere, just a warranty to look at not use. I bought a rebuilt Kia engine costing after labor 8000 and off I drove again. Not even a year later same problem, oil not holding and sludge in the engine.... what do I do now - put engine #3?

I bought a new 2014 Mohave V6 in Kuwait. I noticed that the engine is vibrating even on Park or Neutral position. In traffic congestion and slow speeds the vibrations even more irritating. After I went to the service center they kept the car for 2 hours and said they cleaned the throttle and did wheel alignment, the car should be fine now. Unfortunately there was no difference. I went to the service station again and they said maybe the old fuel in the car was causing the problem. So I should fill some new fuel and the car should work fine. Even after refuelling the problem was not resolved. I had to go again to the service station. They have kept the car since. It’s the 3rd day today!! Still no news from them. Can I ask them for a replacement?

While traveling north on I95 toward Jacksonville, Florida (about 500 miles from home) we noticed an engine noise which became increasingly louder within minutes, followed by a loud noise, and what sounded like metal object flying off the underside of the car then a burst of smoke from the engine which got blacker and bigger. We pulled off the highway as soon as there was a chance and got out of the car. It was smoking and I was afraid it was going to catch fire as we could feel the heat from the engine. We called a tow truck and waited. When it arrived we had it towed to the nearest Kia dealer in Jacksonville. It was early evening and the dealership was closing so we told them the problem and left the car and headed back to Port Saint Lucie, home, to await their findings. This was on Friday 13, 2016. The next week we were told that the engine was not repairable and that it appeared to be an engine internal problem. We were told that because it was still under manufactures warranty it would probably be covered. About another week passed and we called to find out progress on car and was told new engine had to be ordered. So we waited. When we called back the third week were told they did not order an engine because Kia manufacturer denied the claim, stating problem was sludge buildup due to poor maintenance. This was not true. So we gathered our service records and turned them in to be forwarded to Kia manufacturer. The car shop where we have our car service done does not report to Car Fax (something everyone should be aware of - that Car Fax may not have all history of service of car). Today is the 28th day. Yesterday the service dealer in Jacksonville called us to let us know that the warranty may be honored due to our providing good documentation of service/oil changes. We are still waiting for approval. After doing much research found out there has been many problem with Kia engine and powertrains. This is not our fault. Im worried that even with a new engine who is to say it wont happen with the new engine???

Tower Hill Garage Chipperfield Kings Langley Hertfordshire WD4 9LR - I had my car serviced on 25 July 2012. When I went to get into my car, I noticed the driver’s seat was dirty. One of the managers walked behind me and could see I had not got into the car. I said the staff member who serviced my car must have had dirty overalls. We both could see the plastic cover that should go right over the seat was only covering the back and not the seat-base. The manager said in 20 years this has never happened at this garage, it must have happened before! I said that I do not use dirty clothing. He could clearly see how I was dressed, smartly. Also, I work in an office and have to drive smartly. The manager went on to talk about a hole in the mat, which had no bearing on what we were talking about. Then he went on to say he was happy to book it in to be cleaned, also the service manager walked past and smirked at me! The service manager originally told me when I arrived to pick up my car, to sit in the waiting area as they were having to complete my paperwork, which I later found out the car was still on the test drive, in which it had not been finished. I had to wait over 15 minutes to then pay for my car. This should have been explained to me! I am sorry to say the service manager did have a bad attitude. My conclusion to this was the garage staff did not like the fact that this is only a 22-month-old car with 11,950 miles on the clock and this was my first service and kept saying this should have been serviced, 10 months or 10,000 miles. The garage is fully aware that in the first year I had only completed 3,500 miles because I had to have an operation. Therefore, I did not see the sense in paying out good money for such small mileage. Again the garage staff were informed several times and clearly told me not to worry. All this experience has led me into - I will not be purchasing a Kia again nor will I be going back to this garage until I receive an apology and a gesture of goodwill.

I have owned 3 Kias in the last 10 years (2 Optimas and a Forte) and I will never purchase again. Each one is worst than the last. Very cheaply made, and the warranty is a joke. Roadside assistance use to be better, but in the last 3 years has rapidly declined (again, if these cars were better made you wouldnt really need roadside assistance on a new vehicle.) The last time I called, I needed a battery jump (this car is only 2 years old by the way) and they told me they were unable to find anyone to come out. But I could pay $245 and possibly be reimbursed. What?! I live in a major city in Florida and they couldnt find one person to jump my battery??? Thank God I was at home, otherwise I could have been stranded on a highway somewhere. Believe me they couldnt care less. Save yourself the frustration, buy another brand -ANY other brand, and if you are stuck with a Kia, get AAA. For $106/year its worth not dealing with these people.

I took my 2006 Kia Sportage EX in for routine service at the Young dealership in Lansing, MI 6 weeks ago and asked to rotate my tires. Again, they had to order it. I’m still waiting. Is there a problem with Kias wheels? Or is there a problem with this dealership? My Kia is a 2006 model with over 180,000 miles on it. And when trying to accelerate the car after stopping the accelerator pedal to the floor, the car does not respond. I took the car to two separate repair shops after calling the warranty company to file a report. The warranty company proceeds to send out an adjuster to inspect the car and proceeds to tell me he did not experience any issue in his test drive. I proceeded to call the warranty company and I am told that they will not fix anything unless it occurs when the adjuster is driving the car. I made a complaint to an employee and he tells me it will be approved for a new engine and he will call me back by the end of the day to let me know when the loaner car is ready for me. 4 days later I get a call saying they have a rental car ready for me to pick up when Im ready. Thinking it was normal warranty work, I went to Pence KIA to get my 2010 Kia Soul (with a little over 30,000 miles) have its rear wiper motor looked at for a grinding noise it was making. I was told that it was an adjustment and lubrication issue and is not warranty covered. KIA installed a motor on the car with admitted insufficient grease inside the motor and would be deemed a defective manufacturing issue. Now, they do not want to honor their obligation under their warranty saying it is an adjustment and lubrication issue, which I need to pay for. Below is the TBS issued by KIA where they admit to insufficient grease inside the wiper motor.“Visibility: rear window wiper/washer: Kia: service action - rear wiper squeal noise repair (sa026).
