My father owned a 2013 Hyundai Elantra. Previously the car had shown multiple failures such as the steering unexpectedly locking or brakes making loud obnoxious sounds. A few days ago my sister and mother had gotten into a car accident. The car had went airborne and went head first and hit a curb. The car is currently totaled and my mother had multiple injuries. The airbags had not opened during the process. This is outrageous and we would seriously like to have this problem solved. Luckily no one was in critical condition, but still this should never happen.
In June we leased a 2017 Tucson Limited. Our current 2015 Sonata Limited lease had 4 months left on the lease but we were fine with paying those months so we could head out on a 3-month road trip in the new Tucson. The dealer told me that when I turned in the 2015 Sonata it would be inspected by their Hyundai turn in person. I made arrangements with the Jim Clicks Hyundai lease turn in specialist who was the Used Car Manager to inspect my car a few days prior to the actual turn-in date. I wanted to make sure there were no issues with the car. I had the pre inspection and he told me it was the cleanest turn-in he had inspected. A few days later I did the actual turn-in and received a turn-in acceptance sheet stating no issues.Hyundai lease told me I would receive a statement in 60 days with the final lease payment charges. When the statement arrived I noticed $115 charged for wear and tear. I called Hyundai Finance and was told one of the tires had less than 4/32 tread remaining and that they needed to buy a tire before they could send the car to auction. This sounds like BS to me. The car had 35K on it at turn-in and the OEM tires should not have been worn out. I was also told that the dealer turn in specialist is not the real inspector and that the car was inspected by a third party company in Phoenix. The reason I had the pre inspection was so I could correct any issues before I had an unanticipated charge. I am paying the statement in full today but this issue has left a sour feeling with us regarding dealing with Hyundai in the future. Our first Hyundai which we still have is a 2006 Sonata and the 2017 Tucson will be our last Hyundai.
Faulty Caliper Pins on 2012 Accent: Long story short, I had Merchants Tire in Warrenton look at my brakes because of awful noise. They showed me the gouge in the rotor from where the brake pad wore because of a faulty caliper pin. They stated there should be no reason for this caliper pin to be broken and the pad to wear unevenly. They called Browns Manassas Hyundai and conferred with one of their mechanics. He also seemed to think it was a factory defect and under warranty. They suggested bringing it in and confirming the issue. I made an appointment for 3:30 the next day. At noon, they called and said the service station was closed and they set up an appointment at Fairfax Hyundai. I drove my car 45 miles out to Fairfax where I was treated like a stupid girl and spoken to as if I were an ignorant child. They said it would take at least 2 hours before they could look at it. I left with my ride and half way home, I received a call from the service department. They stated that the brake pads were worn evenly but needed changed, the rotors needed turned and there was absolutely nothing wrong with the calipers. It would cost around $400-$450 to fix. This completely contradicted Merchants (who have known me for the past 8 years). I am fed up with the runaround so I contacted a supervisor, Gustavo, at Hyundai Customer Service. He assured me that it sounded suspicious and he would call Fairfax.On my way back to picking up my car, which I instructed them NOT TO TOUCH, Fairfax Hyundai calls me to say, “It does seem to be a caliper issue but its just dirty and we can clean it. But you do need pads and rotors. We can fix it but it will cost you. I spent the last half hour trying to DIG the brake pad out of the rotor with a screw driver!” WHAT? A SCREW DRIVER DIGGING A BRAKE PAD OUT OF MY ROTOR? I was just told the rotors were fine, no scratches and worn evenly and now they are digging something out of them. I am beyond irate and disgusted. Going on 2 weeks now and car is still not fixed. On top of that, they are having to reimburse consumers because of the misquoted mpg.
I sent the requested documentation and called on three separate occasions, but as of yet, I still have not received the money for the purchase of the battery that I was assured was on the way in 4-6 weeks. It has now been over 3 months.
I bought brand new Hyundai Elantra 2014 and after 3 years my engine failed. They couldnt identify the cause behind engine failure. They ordered new engine from Hyundai for replacement. My car is at dealership since past 6 weeks and still they didnt receive engine nor any updates. Worst service I ever seen for any automobile companies. Their cars are not reliable and not long list. Poor choice to buy any Hyundai car. Its better to walk than having car from Hyundai.
My car only got 7,000 KM. The trouble with my Elantra, my battery goes dead and have been boosted twice and another time it went completely dead. Had it towed to the nearest dealer. This is a new Hyundai Elantra Limited when it had less than 6,000 KM it started but I had a 2012 which I had the same problems, so I traded for another one. I was told my 2012 had a ground issue. Now I know that I been lied to. Going to my dealer he tell me that the alternator is a low amperage alternator to save weight, and I should consider getting a solar panel and plug it in my cigarette lighter to charge my car. Now I drive some days around 20 KM which should be plenty to charge the battery, and I hardly use any electronics, like listen to the news 20 minutes. Now I dont trust this car because I dont know when Im going to be stranded. Now my Elantra got 7,000 KM and I dont dare to play the radio even to listen to the news, should I get a portable radio with batteries and a solar panel. By the way, once every two weeks I go on a 200Km ride. People are telling me Im being lied to. I have since notified Hyundai head office in Ontario, the phone # is in one of the manuals that I got with the car. Its been two months and no reply yet. They got my email address. Wont even send me an email, so I call again today.October/24/2014, I purchase this car I believe April/9/2014. This car is like you say new, I purchase an extended warranty which I told them I had purchase one from GM and it was worthless. $2400 and they told me that they werent GM, that you could trust Hyundai and they stick to their warranty. It was about a little bit over $1600. My, I dont know what to believe. Am I told lies? We will soon find out and Im about ready to go throughout my iPad just what the problems are about my warranty. I hope its not another lie.
Hyundai Motor Finance sent us an unsolicited pre-approval. We were in the market for a new car, Hyundai vehicles had good ratings so we went to the Hyundai dealer. We should have known from the get go that something was fishy, they tried to change the rates/terms in the pre-approved letter, then the $2,500 discount magically disappeared from the final contract, they then said it did not apply to pre-approved offers, though it had been on the first contract they showed us. Our mistake - It was now 10 at night, we went ahead signed the papers and drove the car home. Problems started with the first payment that they claimed not to receive the paper check in the mail, then paying online was not an option, so we went to Western Union and sent them a payment. Second payment same issue. They seem to have real administrative problems processing and keeping track of paper checks. Third payment we sent in a double payment to cover the month ahead. 2 months later they processed the check, it bounced for NSF ($10 difference in our bank account). They repossessed the car with no warning, no contact, no opportunity to even know that the payment they took 2 months to process had now bounced.They took our car over 300 miles and 6 hours away to another state and gave us less than 10 days to reclaim the car (with hundreds in extra fees for towing and storage now applied). Every attempt to process paperwork with them was a waste of time. We spent over 12 hours on hold in a period of 3 days trying to resolve this, only to be cut off, transferred, or just plain left in limbo. One day we were on hold over 2 hours when it hit 5 PM, and we were disconnected because their office closed. We finally got one human on the phone who was willing to help us and would fax paperwork for us over to the dealer. It never arrived. The finance dept at the dealership was equally baffled and attempted to help us resolve the issues but Hyundai finance wouldnt ever cooperate with the dealers office.Of the limited number of days we had to reclaim our car, 4 of those days were weekend days which their office was closed. So we had 6 working days to try to resolve this with an office that we could never get through to except on a very few occasions (I think we actually got a human 3 times out of about 40-50 tries). No paperwork ever arrived at the dealer, they would not accept any paperwork that the dealer had on hand (it had to be their special forms). Our car was over 300 miles away in another state. We had the cash - but because of their convoluted procedures, and lack of help, and terrible staffing on their customer service lines - WE LOST OUR CAR!Where did our car end up? At a Hyundai dealer in Ohio that seems to have a car lot brimming with dozens of used Hyundais, less than one year old with low miles (like our car), that are for sale at almost the same price as when they were brand new, but with used car interest rates, with car loans offered by - you guessed it - Hyundai finance!We were out our $2,000 down payment, our $4,000 trade in, + 2 payments, and now with the extra fees Hyundai STILL wants an ADDITIONAL $3,500 from us for a car we had less than 4 months. Our credit is wrecked (the repo lowered our score over 120 points instantly). In hind sight - this seems like a terrible scam where they are selling the cars twice, the second time at higher interest rates at almost the same price as brand new, and racking up impossible fees, and unwilling to work with consumers to get their cars back.4 months with our Hyundai cost over $10,000 - not a bargain in anyones book. Their lack of customer service, inability to reach them, the stonewalling as we tried to get the money to them to reclaim our car - they just made it absolutely impossible. And sending our car over 300 miles away - how high do they have to make the hurdles? We live in a metropolitan area with plenty of auction lots where the car could have gone to, sending it 300 miles away was overkill, designed to make it even more difficult for us. The finance manager at the local dealer was left shaking his head. Apparently 300 miles is the MAXIMUM that they are allowed by law to take the car and they took it to the max (12 miles further according to MapQuest). Shady.
It appears that were all having the same issues with Hyundais Consumer Affairs department, the local service departments, and worst of all, voiding the consumer warranties at their convenience. Its time to stand up and voice your concerns to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Please make sure you file your complaint with the FTC too by visiting their websites. They need to know about how Hyundai is treating their customers and lying to the public. Please note, I have tried to contact the people at the corporate office and they will only forward your concerns back to consumer affairs. The same people who dont care to resolve your complaint. Go to the FTC website and file your complaint there too!
I want to share my bad experience with Freehold Hyundai. I wanted to buy a Sonata. When I contacted them, their salesman Frank quoted a figure which was as per our budget, so we decided to visit them. Antony was the salesman who attended us. I must say he was a good salesman. But when it came to quoting the final figures, he again and again went to his manager Pete **. The figures which they quoted were much higher than what they had initially quoted and we were surprised to hear them. I dont know why they called us to waste our time when we had clearly told them our budget in the beginning. Finally, Pete ** called me inside his cabin (Antony asked my wife to stay out). Pete was such a rude sales manager. I really pity people who hired him. He cracked some jokes, which were personal, and I didnt like them at all. I dont know how he could speak in such a manner to his customers. Very rude, ill-mannered and a guy with attitude problem. He doesnt deserve to be a manager at all. His customer handling is so poor that I dont know how he is running this dealership. In my life, I have never met such an ill-mannered sales manager! There was another salesman in Petes cabin, who was laughing on all this. I felt so insulted. These people are so unprofessional. Pete didnt even offer me a seat to sit. He was sitting in front of me as if he was my boss. I think a roadside vendor has better sales/customer handling skills than Pete.When I showed my displeasure on all this, Pete tried to make the deal. How could he even think I will ever do business with him or recommend his dealership to anyone? This guy is so insensitive about his customers. I am giving this rating for poor customer handling, wrong price commitments and for the insult I faced there.
My husband and I have tried for over 3 months now to get a COPY of our title sent to the WA DMV to register our car. We get tossed around to multiple agents, they make us verify our information multiple times, we get disconnect frequently, and worst of all NO ONE SEEMS TO EVER BE ABLE TO ANSWER BASIC QUESTIONS. We have been told multiple times that the copy of our title was sent to the DMV but every time we call, the DMV says they havent received it. We then call Hyundai who says were sorry someone told you that, we will send it out today THIS CYCLE KEEPS REPEATING ITSELF OVER AND OVER!!! We are at our wits end and are thinking about taking legal action. DO NOT BUY A HYUNDAI!!!
Very, Very Bad Customer Service at Rally Hyundai-Palmdale,CA - I was treated horribly by the Sales Manager. His name is **, at least thats what he told me. After test driving a few cars and ready to go home and ponder, I was told by the sales associate, Kyle, was going to the back to see if they had exactly the car I wanted. Two minutes later, Kyle returned with Randy. I explained to him that I was just there to test drive; I had already researched the car for almost 2 months so I knew just what I was getting. So Randy started immediately, he didn’t waste any time. “What payments can you afford?” “Ummm… no thanks, I dont want to discuss price, thank you, I just wanted to test drive.” “Well, why not? Why do you want this type of car? Why not another? Oh, thats not what this car cost. Oh the car you test drove couldnt have felt that way. No, no, no.” Discredit, discredit, discredit. The language he used was rude, forceful and disrespectful. “Forget about your research, it’s all wrong.” He wanted me to go inside so that he could show me his numbers. He was a lot like a bully and he tried to intimidate me. But I stood my ground and refused to follow his lead. Mind you, this was all after I explained to him that I didn’t want to buy today, only a test drive. After he saw that he could not intimidate me, he became very upset, glared at me and began his rant. You just dont believe me. Youre not even listening to me. Were done here! Calling me a liar to my face! I thought, “Uhhhh... who called who a liar? What just happened?” Well when he was done with his rant, he walked away. The only thing I was able to get out after that was, Thats unfortunate as he stumped off like Rumpelstiltskin. If he had just allowed me to leave nicely, I would have returned to purchase the car I wanted. I guess he thought because I was alone and a woman, that he could bully me into doing something I didnt want to. No one deserves that type of treatment. And after reading other reviews on Yelp, it turns out no one is allowed to test drive at this location unless they plan on buying. Something needs to be done about this bully.
Great service. Great price. No pressure looking at vehicles on the lot when getting my car services. 10 yr warranty on vehicles. Honest mechanics and service people. Outstanding customer service and Hyundai is impressionable.
2007 Accent problems - Where to start. First off, Ive had nothing but issues with this car. Faulty lighting, faulty sensors even my passenger air bag doesnt work, and theyve fixed it twice now. My light still remains on. I started having car issues when my car started jerking really hard when it went into gear. I took it to the dealership and they said everything was okay. My car runs like a champ. I asked them personally. Did you check my transmission? They said yes, everything is fine. I called a week later because I still was feeling the kick in my transmission. They said they never checked my transmission last time I was in. I feel I was lied to. Also, apparently, there was a recall on my car for several faulty wiring issues. I was never informed about this. I just found out in 2012 when this recall happened in 2009. Also, I got into a car accident. It was not my fault. Ive had my car took in twice for an alignment, window fixed 3 times. Also, my axle was affected in this wreck. They did not tell me this until I took it to someone else and they told me that my axle was messed up due to my car being hit. Hyundai never fixed it. Ive had something lose moving around under my car ever since the accident and they are still saying there is nothing wrong with my car and refuse to fix it. I plan on getting this car fixed then trading it in. Ive paid way too much money for things that were under warranty and should have been fixed the first time. I will never again purchase a car from Hyundai.
I was in an auto accident on 01-09-2012 in a 2002 Hyundai Sonata. It was a front end collision and my car was totaled. My air bags did not deploy and the claims adjustor and a certified mechanic said with the impact they should have. I am currently undergoing chemotherapy and have a port catheter in the right side of my chest. Upon impact I hit the steering wheel causing painful bruising to the chest, especially where the port is located. I had a dye test and they found a blood clot around the port. I have consulted an attorney and would like a response from you as soon as possible.
First and last Hyundai. I came from a Toyota family, but Id heard about the progress Hyundai was making, so I purchased a brand new Hyundai Sonata (23 miles on it) in April of 2014. Fast forward to last week (March 2016) my wife experienced engine trouble with it. No check engine light or anything. But no problem, they have a 10yr/100,000 mile warranty on it, right?? WRONG! I took it in to get the engine fixed and they denied my request. They stated that based on what they saw, I didnt maintain the vehicle.Not once did they ask for my service records! (I had my car serviced more than the recommended amount...) I come to find out theres a class-action lawsuit for this very issue. They refuse to honor their warranty EVEN AFTER I provided proof of maintenance! This car was not even 2 years old yet. How frustrating. Be sure and avoid these guys. Theyre crooked. Never giving them another cent. Ill go back to Toyota.
We have had three Hyundai cars, the last being an I30. The first problem was paintwork on the tailgate; rust was bubbling through the paintwork. We informed the dealer. They said that it could be stone chips without even looking at the car. They requested we take the car for photographs for warranty claim so we did. We waited for information on what was happening with the claim. When we inquired about it after three weeks, they said they had no idea what we were on about. Eventually, they found the photos and resolved the issue. We werent happy with the dealer so we changed the dealer.The car broke down after having a service due to fuel waxing in the filter. The filter is meant to be covered under a 5-yr, 40,000 miles warranty. The car had only done under 19,000. After sitting in a car for three hours and losing a days work, the dealer charged GBP77.71 for changing a spin on filter. I spoke to Hyundai UK Customer Services. They werent interested in what I was trying to say, that some fuel filters have the facility to drain water from the filter or service schedules are too long as I have had services of filters at 12,000 miles and 24,000 miles. The Customer Service department was not prepared to listen and eventually tried to pacify me with reimbursement for the cost. Then I had issues with this department. I wrote a letter to the CEO of Hyundai UK. What a waste of a stamp. I received a reply from the Customer Service department. Buyer, beware. If you buy new and you need backup, be prepared for crap customer service.
The vehicle involved in a crash, drivers side Tucson airbag failed to deploy properly causing injuries. The company contacted and four months later nothing resolved, vehicle not inspected yet, no resolution and no other drivers warned of possible failure. Lack of real concern from company or leasing agency. Length of time it is taking them over a safety concern. We are not the type to sue but may be forced to to get them motivated to fix the issue or warn others.
Non- uniform & Excessive Tire Wear. There is a documented history of this problem in 2011 & 2012 Sonatas. In to the shop after 2000 miles for slight steering problem - Results - The Dealer checked out the car and determined that it was not one included in the recall so there is nothing wrong with my car. Back to the shop at 10,000 miles. Left front and right rear tire wearing and cupping on the inside. Result - told to rotate tires. Tires had been rotated every 5000 miles. At 20,000 miles the tires were making so much noise it sound like I was running big off road tires on pavement. I called Hyundai customer service and got a service number to have the car checked out. They put the car on the rack and said Everything is in spec. and wear is consistent with the mileage. I showed the service manager the tread depth readings I had taken on each tire; inside, center and outside. He just dismissed me.At 27,000 miles I couldnt stand the noise so I bought new tires (not from the dealer) from Pep Boys. They had an old time alignment guy that adjusted the camber on the rear wheel but there was no provision for adjusting the front wheels. I also did not rotate the tires again. The rear wheel adjustment did help but it was very obvious the front was still wearing badly. At 70,000 miles I bought another set of tires because of the noise. I kept the old tires, took pictures of all of them and went back to the dealer. He had his people look at them and they all stated the tires had uneven wear and cupping. I am now pursuing getting the car fixed (Good Luck). I do have a case number, but I will have a hard time getting the service manager to move ahead. I have also filed with the BBB but they said I have too many miles on the car. My next best recourse at this point is to keep the pressure on customer service. There is a documented history of this problem in 2011 and 2012 Sonatas. Please let me know if you have any experience with problem and with Hyundai.
I am another person tricked by this dealership with the $50 test drive promotion. The salesman on site confirmed that the dealership does participate in the promotion AND he welcomed me to take part. He said that he, himself, received the $50. The salesman proceeded to say that he needed to take a copy of my drivers license. He also took my name and email address. He showed me a car on the lot but did not take me for a test drive. He said he had what he needed from me and his manager would process the promotion by the next day. I was supposed to receive it in an email.After nothing happened I asked the manager and it was obvious they never had any intention of following though on promises. First the manager told me that I was not eligible because the promotion was only good for one person in each household. Of course that made no sense because no one in my household ever took part. Then he decided on another bogus excuse and said that the terms and conditions of the promotion allowed him to not participate. This is AFTER they TOOK my information under false pretenses. They took a copy of my ID. They took my email address. And since then, they have had the nerve to use my email address to send me junk email!! What they DID NOT DO is what they promised. As another person commented, it is obvious their word does not mean much. Be careful of this place. Its hard to tell what these guys are up to?? Better to stay away!
I bought a 2012 Hyundai Elantra from Tuttle Click Dodge in Tustin. There they had a sticker posted with 39 hwy mph. My car gets no more than 24 mph on the freeway going 65 steady in the right lane with Chevron gas. I have taken it to 5 different Hyundai dealers complaining about the issue almost right away. They all shrugged their shoulders and told me they couldnt find a problem. That the digital eco meter is a dummy gauge and doesnt give accurate numbers. Then why do they match my manual calculations? Finally after I showed them the website where I found out about the class action lawsuit did they admit... oh ya your car does have a mileage problem. Oh ya... we already lost the lawsuit. We will waste a ton of your time, and then say sorry you are not original owner and therefore not eligible for gas reimbursement! Today I took my horrible Hyundai to the dealer and they gave it back to me with a huge scratch on the door. Also, my newish Hyundai with only 20,000 miles makes a ton of noises and the check engine light came on.
In August 2015, I purchased a 2015 Hyundai Tucson in 2015. I have had all routine maintenance done and the car has 86,000 miles on it. No mechanic has ever told me of any engine issues or potential engine issues. Two weeks ago, I was driving home at 10:00 PM. Without warning, my engine seized and my car stalled in the middle of a very busy, dangerous intersection. Thanks to the assistance of my father and a good Samaritan, I was able to get my car out of the road and I was able to get safely home. However, this had the potential to be extremely dangerous for myself and other drivers on the road.I took my car to a local Hyundai dealership and I was told by a certified Hyundai mechanic that I would need a new engine. I immediately contacted the Hyundai Customer Care Center and I was told that because I am not the original owner, they will not honor the 10-year/100,000 mile warranty. I was told they might honor the limited warranty, but I would need to come up with records of every oil change I have had on the car. Other than that, they have been of no assistance to me. I am beyond frustrated and furious at this point. This is not an issue of user error, this is clearly a defect on the part of the manufacturer and they should be the ones resolve the problem. I consider myself an informed consumer, and I would not have purchased this car if I had known this was a possibility.
This is how they rope you in to buying their crummy cars “We have American’s best Warranty.” Don’t ever expect to use it though when you need it. They’ll do everything in their power to get out of having to pay to fix your car when something goes wrong. In my case, my whole electrical system fried within less than two years of having the car. Thinking I had “American’s Best Warranty” I thought, no big deal I’ll bring it in and they’ll fix it. Well, no, they tried to claim an animal chewed through my wires so it wasn’t covered by the warranty and I had to go through my insurance to have it fixed. Mind you, this is before I found out there was a class action lawsuit filed against this company for cars with unexpected engine and electrical failures and them failing to make repairs and weaseling their way out of them. They kept my car for 10 weeks trying to fix the issue and every time they fix one issue they would call back and say “oh turns out this is also wrong with your car because of the animal, you have to go through your insurance and put in another supplemental claim.” After 8,000 paid by my initial insurance claim and two supplemental claims of a 1000 a piece and a 500 deductible from me, they gave me back my car that still doesn’t work and still having electrical problems. Their response, we’ll diagnose the problem for 300 dollars to figure out what’s wrong with it now and now they want me to put in another supplemental claim due to another wire that was frayed due to “animal damage.” I can’t even trade the car in because no other dealer wants it due to all the problems and I still have 12,000 left to pay and a car that doesn’t function right.
We have been happy Hyundai customers for many years. Earlier in the year, we were noticing that our Genesis was sporadically pulling to one side. We took it to our car to Chapman Hyundai in Phoenix, AZ - the dealership we purchased the car and loyally worked with them on all of our service needs. They couldnt recreate the issue, so they returned the car to us. We continue to have incidences of this happen again, so took the car back. They did a wheel alignment. It didnt solve the problem. In June I lost control of the car when coming off the highway. I feared that I would not be able to stop at the bottom of the off-ramp, which would have resulted in a major accident. Fortunately, I was able to regain control and stop the car in time.We tried to make an appointment with the dealership, but there was a 2-week wait, so we took it to a local repair shop because we were afraid to drive the car and couldnt be without it for 2 weeks. They quickly saw that all 4 control arms had major cracks in them. They replaced them. They said that this issue should have been detected by the dealership mechanics since the cracks were quite large. This doesnt happen overnight. They also suggested there may be another issue that should be watched if the pulling should happen again. I contacted Hyundai Consumer Affairs to report this situation on June 2nd. I was told that I would hear back from a case manager within 10 days. I was finally contacted (after repeatedly calling, sitting on hold, waiting, and waiting) on July 14th. The case manager immediately told us that there was nothing she could do as far as reimbursement of the over $3500 of costs we incurred at an independent garage because the car wasnt repaired by a certified Hyundai mechanic. I stressed our lack of faith in the technicians, stressed the risk I was put in, and threatened to go viral with my story. She came back 5 days later saying that the company would reimburse me for the cost of parts only - however, I had to take the car to a dealership for them to make sure the work was done properly. She wanted me to pay for this service while taking MORE time off work - not having a car. She called me back 2 days later to see if I was going to accept the offer even though I told her it wasnt fair that I had to pay for the service call as well as everything else Ive been dealing with. She called me back - as promised - on July 22nd. I was unavailable to take her call. Since then I have left multiple messages/emails with her with no response. The pulling issue still persists to this day. On August 4th we scheduled a service call with a different Hyundai dealership. Again, we have to wait 2 weeks for our appointment. Were left with an unsafe car, no response from the company, and no sight in end to this issue. When my husband had car issues with his Acura, they had to wait 2 weeks to get the necessary part that was draining our battery. They provided us with a loaner so we werent inconvenienced and kept us updated on the status of the part. Thats customer service. Maybe Hyundai needs to look at its competitors and learn how to treat people properly.
My 2013 Accent has multi rust spots on roof and the right side on top of both doors. Took this issue to Hyundai last September 2014 for warranty issue but was denied by Hyundai saying this is caused by rock chips, this car was only twenty-six months old at that time. After saying this, the hood do have a few small chips which are not noticeable unless you really look for them and there is no sign of rusting. Now explain how can there be rust spots on the roof from so called rock chips when the hood has rock chips and no sign of rust. I had never had my car on gravel roads, yet my husbands Tucson, purchased at the same time, always on gravel roads, do not have any rust spots. I personally think because I am a woman that they can make that decision, guess what, this is not the end. I have been to a body shop and was told the rust is from inside out and do have this documented as of today, May 13, 2015. When I decided for the second time to purchase from Hyundai, I also convinced my husband to purchase one also, which he did at the same time, Hyundai Tucson. We will never ever purchase from Hyundai again. Please follow me in this and do not make any purchases from Hyundai. I will keep this going all the way if possible to get justice.
We bought a 2012 Sonata Hybrid and have had nothing but grief with the 17 tires and aluminum rims. We have not owned the vehicle a year and have had to have 2 of the rims replaced along with the tires. Just the rim itself costs $500 and the bumper to bumper warranty does not cover a penny of it. The first time, I hit a pothole and ruined the rim and tire. I was stranded at 5:00 in the morning on a country road until the towing company could arrive. Total cost was over $700.Second time was yesterday when nothing was hit but the tire began leaking air on a trip from Arkansas to Denver. I was stranded in the middle of the night in Kansas. The nearest Hyundai dealership was 106 miles away. The cost will be again over $700 and no dealership carries the rim in stock. It must be ordered so I had to leave the car and get a rental. Total cost will be $700 for rim and tire, $89.00 for a hotel room, another $140 for a rental car one way. Im very disappointed, especially when Hyundai just says, Oh well, there is nothing we can do.Also, were having issues with the Navigation unit. We will start the car and the navigation unit and radio will be on but there is no sound. If I stop the car and start it again, it will work. I have taken it in twice for service with no resolution. Hyundai says they dont know what is wrong. A message comes across the screen saying, Battery Discharge Warning, and Hyundai says they have no answers. Also the car hesitates when you push the pedal down to accelerate. Once again, Hyundai says there is nothing that can be done. Im very disappointed in the car. Beware and research before purchasing this vehicle. Hyundai also does not have mud flaps that can be purchased for the hybrid model. Snow and ice packs in wheel wells are causing dangerous driving conditions. BEWARE, BEWARE, BEWARE!!!
I am beyond disappointed and disgusted with the customer service and system that takes place for recall and warranty work. My engine light began flashing Friday morning and I instantly called my “home” dealership to inquire what to do. They said to pull over and not drive it any further and to contact roadside assistance to have it towed to the nearest Hyundai dealership. I did just that. My vehicle is a 2017, but purchased brand new March 2018. I am well under the 100,000 km/ 5 year warranty. Once we arrived at the dealership to get things rolling, I was informed that my vehicle has an engine recall - thanks for the notice in the mail on that one, Hyundai - NOT. So that was a major surprise to hear. I get back to work and receive a phone call from service that my engine failed all diagnostic tests and that I needed a new engine altogether. I confirmed all my services have been done through Sherwood Park Hyundai, so they said, Great, we’ll get them to send over your records and send everything off to Hyundai Canada for approval and get you a rental. I expressed how much I required a rental, as I am 8 months pregnant and my husband is not available to be driving me to and from work. They told me by Monday or Tuesday they would know the status of the engine and we can do the rental car. I had to call Monday afternoon for an update, she informed me that nothing had been approved yet, but by Tuesday we’d know. I once again explain the need for the rental. Received no phone call Tuesday, so at 2:45 pm I called them, again. Once again told Hyundai Canada still didn’t approve the warranty for the engine. Not only is this a RECALL, but I am under warranty. They then said I could pay $40/ day for a rental through them and once warranty was approved, they’d take it over. I asked if I’d be reimbursed, they said no. So Hyundai wants me to not only pay my bi-weekly payments on a vehicle I can’t drive, but also pay out of pocket for a rental when it should have already been dealt with and set up. RIDICULOUS. Having a vehicle gets me to my place of employment, which allows me to pay you people for the vehicle sitting in one of your dealerships waiting for an engine on a basically still new vehicle. They were not willing to a single thing to help me out. I will never be buying a Hyundai again. My husband is already looking at getting rid of his also due this service. I owned 3 Chevy’s prior to the Tucson thinking it was a good move. Worst decision and full regret. Things started great with Hyundai and has plummeted over the years. Whenever my vehicle was in the shop with Chevy they ensured they had a fleet/lot vehicle available to me to drive. When I had to get warranty work done and they required to keep my vehicle for 3 days, they had a rental available to me instantly. Odd, they had no issue getting me in a rental ASAP. Hyundai, you are beyond disappointing and I am disgusted with your customer service.
Great customer service. Ahmed worked with us and ultimately we walked out of there with a new Kona. Tom sealed the deal working his magic with the numbers. Definitely would recommend this dealership for first class service.
My wife, 64, was driving out one owner Hyundai Accent on a private road about 15MPH when the airbags suddenly deployed without any impact occurring to the vehicle. My wife received severe bruises on both arms and the face and the windshield was shattered by impact from the passenger side airbag deployment. We were fortunate as she was going very slowly and there was no other traffic... Had she been in busy traffic or on an interstate, there would probably have been a major collision and severe injury or possible death. Hyundai local dealership (Perkins Motors of Colorado Springs) was appraised of the problem but refused to do anything. When we contacted Hyundai HQ consumer affairs we were told that they would send us a packet of papers to be filled out and returned to them. They would then let us know in six or eight weeks whether they would do anything. The car is undriveable... And my wife will never drive it again after the scare she received together with the potential for a much more horrible outcome than actually occurred.Hyundai seems to have no interest in seeing the vehicle and figuring out what may have gone wrong and whether it might be a risk factor for other owners as well, despite the obvious implications of consumer risk when airbags inflate without any cause. I volunteered to haul the car to the local dealership at my own expense and inconvenience and they responded that they would not look at it even if I did so unless I agreed to pay for all repairs in advance. One would think that they would care to find out what might have gone wrong. All in all, it has been a horrible experience and the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Note to all Hyundai owners: I would have to recommend that you NOT drive your vehicles as the potential for a major accident is very real and, like other manufacturers in the past, Hyundai seems to feel no sense of urgency in finding out what the core problem is and fixing it.
2014 ix35 R/H door mirror indicator lens. The cost of these indicator lenses are over expensive compared with other makers of cars. There is no excuse for this as many are exactly the same make up and the same materials. WHY?
I have a defective Santa Fe Sport Turbo 2017 SUV. I had problems with it from day one... just got worse. Has been to 3 dealerships, same problem, loses power when going over a bump or rough surface. Got worse as time went on. Was in shop 6-7 times. Almost got killed in it when engine stopped working driving on 65mph road. Smoke coming out of SUV. Finally diagnosed with a faulty engine off the assembly line... over $17,000 repair. Not even 2 years old, I have a 3 year lease. Asked Hyundai to release me from the lease and take defective car back. Hyundai WONT... expects me to keep defective car. I do not feel safe in the car no matter what at this point. Hyundai wont take defective car back. This is NOT fair or good business. How can they make me keep a DEFECTIVE car???
I, myself, own a 2013 Hyundai Elantra that I adore. I used to work for Hyundai, dealing with warranty. My fiance is a Hyundai-certified technician. These cars come with a 5-year/60k miles BASIC warranty. NOT bumper to bumper like many salesmen claim. Batteries are covered 100% for 2 years, and the 3rd year is prorated. Sunroof issues WILL be covered under the 5yr/60k. Tires are not covered, but you have roadside assistance for 5 years, regardless of what you are equipped with to handle flats. My car does not have a spare, I got a flat last month, and they towed me at no charge. No questions asked. If you have a spare, obviously roadside is not needed. But be sure to maintain the spare just as you would other tires. Tires lose air with time. Light bulbs are covered 12 months/12k miles. They are wear and tear as well, so expect to change bulbs once in a while. Maintenance items are not warrantied (tranny flush, brake flush, oil change, etc.). Use Hyundai genuine parts. Trust me. If your engine ends up having issues, and you have an aftermarket oil filter, good luck getting that engine warrantied. I buy Hyundai parts, and follow maintenance schedules exactly how they are written.Most people here would have had a better outcome if they would have educated themselves on the vehicle. Its not hard to do. Im a female, but I know more about cars than most males I know. Dont walk into a dealership with the wool over your eyes. Know your stuff, know the warranty, and know what youre driving. My car is only a year old, with 25k miles, but it has run 100% perfect for me the whole time. I have taken it on long road trips and it handled them with ease. My gas mileage on the highway gets up to 42 mpg! I dont work for Hyundai anymore, so I dont benefit from saying any of this, but I do take pride in these cars. I chose to pursue the medical field again, otherwise I would be a Hyundai employee still. You also have a right to know who works on your car, so ask. My fiance is a master technician with Hyundai, and he treats every car like his own. Go ahead and meet your technician. Discuss your concerns. Trained Hyundai techs will know their stuff and know all of these cars like the back of their hand. Make sure you realize that like every car, they will age and not be perfect anymore 1 day. Cant expect a car with 150,000 miles to run like its new. The 10 year/100k miles warranty is a great incentive to buy these cars, and not many people have to utilize it during those 10 years/100k miles. I would choose Hyundai over Toyota or Honda any day. Read and educate yourselves, people.
I co-signed for a car for a relative whose car got repossessed. They sold the car at an auction for $6,000.00. Now they have placed a lien on my car because I cannot come up with roughly $13,000.00 for the car that was repossessed. I have been making monthly payments until I get it resolved ($13.000.00). I have never been late/ahead on my 2011 Hyundai Tucson. They have been unwilling to cooperate with me about this issue.I corresponded in writing (30 days in advance). Im permanently disabled & on a set salary. They said to contact them within 30 days, which I did, & heard nothing from them. I have paid $1,600.00 toward the repossession. Now they have placed a lien on my car. I replied to them in writing, no phone, & have not heard anything. I told them I could not obligate myself for a set amount because of medicine, doctor bills, medical bills, & daily living expenses in this economy. Like I said, I have heard nothing in writing from them. I am supposed to cooperate with them, while in return they have not assisted me. I signed 2 cars from them.
GC 2013 3.8 Track (Love Car cant say the same for Company) - On Saturday, April 16th, 2016 I went to Balise Hyundai to have my vehicle serviced and to address my concerns about the paint peeling on the front bumper near the hood of the car. I showed the peeling paint to the service advisor Phil ** who took pictures of my front bumper and stated that he would pass them along to the person who handles warranty claims. Phil explained that I would need to come back to Balise Hyundai during the week to have my concerns addressed. It is important to note taking time off during the week was not feasible during that time due to the structure of my current role and the responsibilities it entails.On Wednesday May 11th, 2016 I brought my vehicle to Balise Hyundai and showed the bumper to Bob ** (Service Director) who immediately began to tell me that my warranty didnt cover the damage and that it appeared as if the bumper was painted over or that something had spilled on it and therefore was not Hyundais responsibility to cover. Bob proceeded to take pictures while he instructed his co-worker Stephanie to gather some info on my vehicle. After a few minutes of both Bob and Stephanie examining my vehicle, I asked Stephanie to update me on what was being discussed. She stated that I was not under warranty for paint as my car was three years old. I told her that while my car was a 2013, I did not begin my lease until September of 2013. She then asked me about the mileage which I told her was less than 36,000 miles. Another 5 to 10 minutes of conversation with Bob yielded a plethora of biased assumptions that I found to be quite concerning. Bob ** insinuated I caused the damage to my vehicle. I left Balise Hyundai and then called Hyundai Motor America to report my warranty claim and ask questions. At that point, the integrity of Bob ** was in question and I was concerned that Bob would intentionally fail to submit the warranty claim and tell me it was not covered or submit the claim filled with biased narrative and minimal facts. I spoke with a Genesis representative named Christina (case #**) and she explained to me that she would look into it and contact Balise Hyundai to follow-up. Christina said she would call me back that day to update me however I never received a call. Later that day I was set to travel out of the country for two weeks. On Thursday, May 26th, 2016 I contacted Hyundai Motor America to follow up regarding my warranty claim. I explained that I had not heard from Bob or Stephanie about next steps.On Friday, May 27th, 2016 I received a call from Stephanie who left a voicemail stating that Hyundai wanted me to take my vehicle to the Balise repair shop to get an estimate of the damage. Upon hearing the message left by Stephanie I called her back and was unable to speak to her directly. I left a detailed voicemail inquiring about the arrangement of a specific date/time to bring the car for an estimate. Stephanie never responded to my message.On Saturday, June 4th, 2016 I brought the vehicle to Balise to get the estimate and was told that the repair shop is only open during the week. I spoke with General Manager Brian ** who told me to email him pictures of the paint concerns and that he would get an estimate for me on Monday and send me the quote. (See attached photos) On Tuesday, June 7th, 2016 Brian emailed me stating that a rep is coming today and will see if he approves the work. Estimate is $1,300. On Wednesday, June 8th, 2016 I emailed Brian back and ask him if the rep would be calling me directly to let me know the decision concerning my car. Brian emailed me back informing me that it was decided that my hood would not be covered but that the decision to repaint the bumper hadnt been made yet. On Friday, June 10th, 2016 I emailed Brian to find out how long it would be to determine if my bumper was going to be covered under warranty. He replied back confirming it would be 7 to 10 business days. On Tuesday, June 21st, 2016 I emailed Brian seeking an update on the pending situation. I received no reply.On Wednesday, June 29th, 2016 I receive a voicemail from Bob ** stating that he wanted me to return his call because Consumer Affairs wanted a factory rep to look at my vehicle. He also stated the rep would be at Balise on Thursday (the very next day). I called Bob back to arrange the time for the factory rep to see my vehicle. I explained to Bob that I worked and that he was giving me very short notice. I asked if I could schedule something for Friday or the week after and Bob told me that the Factory rep only comes once a month and that if I didnt come tomorrow (Thursday) it would be next month before another meeting could be arranged.On Thursday, June 30th, 2016 I arrived at Balise at approximately 7:30 am which was the agreed time slot. This time was chosen as it was early enough for business to be handled and ensured Id make it to work on time. The factory rep showed up after 7:30 am and while I sat in the waiting area Bob failed to inform me that the factory rep arrived. At around 7:50 am I went to find Bob to inquire about the factory rep. That is when I was informed that Loi **, Eastern Region District Parts & Service Manager was already looking at my car. When I approached Loi he informed me that he was checking to see if there was any report of an accident concerning my car. After a few minutes, Loi approached me and told me that the bumper damage was going to be covered but not the chipped paint on the hood of the car. I was then instructed to go to the Balise repair shop and schedule a date to have my car brought in for repair. I followed those instructions and spoke with the Collision Repair Manager, Tim **. We agreed to have the bumper painted on July 11th, 2016 and he told me that it would take two days.On Monday, July 11th, 2016 I brought my car to Balise repair. To my surprise, I then had to rent a car from Enterprise because Balise Hyundai stated that they didnt have any loaners. They also informed me that even if they did have loaners, it would cost me. Over the course of two days, it cost me $60 to rent the car from Enterprise. On July 13th, 2016 I returned to Balise to pick up my car but was told that it was not ready. I was then left to rent a vehicle for another day. For my inconvenience, Jim ** who works for Balise Collision Repair agreed to cover the rental cost for that day.On July 14th, 2016 I returned to Balise to pick-up my car and was astonished by what I saw. I spoke with Balise Collision Repair Appraiser, Jesse ** about the fact that the color of the bumper that was painted did not match the color of the rest of the vehicle! During my conversation with Jesse, he informed me that prior to beginning the paint job he called over to Bob ** and asked about blending the paint into the hood and the fender to prevent the noticeable color difference. He was told by Bob to only paint the bumper. Jesse explained to me that the color difference was typical with the type of paint on my car and that during most repairs to assure that the color matches the other parts of the car they blend into the other areas. (See attached photos)I havent yet heard about whether or not I will be reimbursed or receive credit towards my monthly payment. When I followed-up with Hyundai Motor Finance about my situation was I essential told sorry for your troubles. You still must pay your monthly bill and if we dont receive payment we will repo your car. It will be auctioned and all accrued expenses will be your responsibility. Moral of this story: Dont buy Hyundai as their Customer Service is horrible and they dont care about loyal customers.
I own two Sonatas, an 03 and an 08. Originally, the airbag light came on for the 03 around 140,000 miles and it was the passenger seat sensor. I eventually just got another seat from a salvage yard. Now, my 08 light is on and it too is the passenger seat causing the problem. This seems to be an ongoing issue with Hyundai (not just the Sonata). As the end user, we should have the ability to turn these things off. Unfortunately, in Virginia, we have annual inspections and if the light is on, it fails and you cant drive the vehicle. Im only complaining and realize my car is out of warranty.
I purchased a 2007 Hyundai Sonata in 2008. My daughter has a 2006 Hyundai Sonata that she purchased in 2008. Her sun visors broke and hang down in the way. Now my driver side sun visor is broke and hangs down in the way. If this was just one vehicle, I wouldnt think too much about it. But now it has happened to both of us. The metal bar that the sun visor is on just will not turn in the plastic part to go up and down. And the plastic part broke. I did call Hyundai at 800-633-5151 to see if there were any recalls. I was advised by Jared that there were no recalls. I think there needs to be a recall, because I am sure it cannot just be our 2 cars. I did ask if there was anything that could be done. My car is over the year and mileage (64000). Thanks.
If I can save you the trouble from leasing from Hyundai, then please listen carefully. I have always leased my cars. Ford, Volvo, Saab, etc. Ive NEVER had an issue with a leasing company, process has been flawless. Hyundai Financial has been an absolute nightmare. At lease end, Hyundai send out a 3rd party to look over your car. There is no wear and tear allowed for a 3-year lease. The 3rd party company spends 1 1/2 hrs going over your car with a magnifying glass (true!) and then hands you a bill for $3,000. If there is a pen mark on your seats, then you have to replace the entire fabric on all the seats. They then tell you that this is just a guide for you to get things fixed and this will never go to Hyundai. Thats a lie. We took the car to have the ridiculous list addressed, spent hundreds of dollars getting tiny scratches out, the pen mark on the fabric (there were no dents, tires were brand new, under mileage, etc.), and faxed over the complete report to Hyundai. The car was in such perfect condition that when we turned it in, the dealership leasing manager called the sales manager and said they needed to buy this car. A month later, we get the $3,000 bill from Hyundai. They DO NOT send someone out to look over the car after the work is done. They go completely off the original work their 3rd party sends them. We submitted our receipts 3 times and they told us they didnt like the wording on our invoices and suggested we wrote it ourselves! I said feel free to call the company that we paid hundreds of dollars to who worked on our car 3 days. The detail shop called us, said Hyundai was extremely rude, and that was the end of that. Three months later, on Christmas Eve morning, we get a call from a collection agency that says we owe $3,000. We now have to hire an attorney. STAY FAR AWAY FROM HYUNDAI!
I have the Hyundai Sonata 2011 that was manufactured in Alabama between Dec 11, 2009 and April 12, 2012 part of the recall campaign 132. Prior to this my Sonatas motor seized up and stopped work with only 60K miles and at that time the company did not want to honor the warranty and also gave me a very hard time about the loaner so much that I had to rent a car myself. I later contacted someone at the corporate office in CA and finally received a full refund. Now my motor goes out with no warranty at 154K miles. Send the car to my mechanic for repairs. Out of pocket 15.000+ only to find out that there was nothing left but to replace the motor according to my VIN number. This is what Hyundai motors said and was also told that money I spent would be reimburse in 90 days. Well its been 100 + days without even a courtesy call?
Ira ** at Camelback Hyundai service department is a service manager that could have done things differently today and actually helped a customer, but instead, he chose to not agree with the customer. In my case, I bought a Honda Sonata back in 2016 from Camelback Hyundai and my skid plate on my car came undone about 3 months ago. And instead of replacing the plate and damaged part they chose to use zip ties instead. The other day I was driving home from work and what would you know, those ties came loose and the plate fell. This time it completely came off along with the right wheel well cover leaving me on the freeway with rush hour traffic trying to get it without getting hit. He didnt even keep in mind or even consider that my life was at risk trying to retrieve a part.Today they told me that they would not replace the plate as it was not of their doing, but see it was because they didnt properly secure it the first time, instead they used zip ties instead of real fasteners. This is the email I received from Ira today stating, The temporary repairs lasted an excess of 8,000 miles, I would say you got your money’s worth which was zero cost to you, the consumer. WOW! As you can see they failed to replace the part and could have fixed this in the first place as he even stated temporary fix.I have a warranty on the vehicle, yet this is a supposed part that is not covered even though it is used to protect the engine from debris and keep other parts from damage. I am sorry Ira but you have failed in your customer service department. And instead of helping a customer with something that should have been covered you chose to present me with a cost for something that I had no control over, something you as a service department should have fixed right the first time. I will not be using Camelback Hyundai for any service from here on out and warn others to stay away as they dont truly care about the customer. This is how I received my car back today with missing clips that could have been secured and a hazard to me as a driver on the road.
My Tucson 2017 had a problem with acceleration. The dealership technician inspected the car for and said there is no permanent solution for this problem. Surprisingly they charged $120 for doing nothing on a guaranteed car. And the customer service did not respond to my complaint.
So my car got towed last Friday and Ive been calling the reinstatement department for almost a week and they have so much attitude they yell at you. They wont tell you once what documents they need. You will be going back and forth to OfficeMax and your home. Finally, when you have all of the papers faxed, they will tell you they never got them. You end up faxing 6 times.
I bought a new car from a dealership in Laurel, Maryland 2 months ago when they had the test drive gift card promotion, but I never received the gift card. After contacting the dealership several times to follow up, no one provides me any updates. I then decided to reach out to Hyundai USA and hope they will help me. Hyundai USA basically hires a third party AutoHook to deal with the issues and doing the research. AutoHook stated We are an entirely separate entity and do not make decisions about what offers are redeemed, and told me only the dealership can verify my test drive and redeem the offer. Even I bought a car from the dealership, it doesnt mean my test drive was verified. In other words, if the dealership decides to do nothing, then thats it. Its a huge disappointment that the Hyundai USA does not manage their dealership, does not care how the dealership is treating their customer and just let them cheat the customers.
We have owned a 2003 Hyundai XG350 since new. It now has less than 30,000 miles on it and we recently noticed that the airbag light was on and it needs an inspection sticker. We were told that the airbag issue would have to be repaired before the car would pass inspection. The service manager (Frank) told us that he has seen several of these problems in the XGs and that to repair it properly, it would require a new wiring harness for around $500. I commented to him that this sounds like an engineering defect on Hyundais part, and that they should repair this at their cost. Hyundai refused.
My first experience was when I received the recall notice for my 2006 Sonata about the airbags sensor for front passenger seat. I had Sports Durst in Durham check it when I took it in for service (been a while back) and was told nothing was wrong. Later, when someone over 90 lbs was sitting in seat, the airbag light would indicate that it was turned off. I took it to Crenshaw Hyundai in Burlington where they checked it. They confirmed it was faulty and mailed my seat to California for service. Now, my airbag light is back on again and was told by Crenshaw Hyundai that since it had been repaired, the recall work is no longer under warranty. It seems after reading all these complaints that it would not do any good to have it repaired because the majority says the light comes back on or the airbags failed to deploy in accidents or just deployed for no reason. I use to like Hyundais but after this I will never own another one nor recommend them.
In July 2015, I bought 2015 Hyundai Sonata limited edition. It comes with 5 year road side assistance. Yesterday June 25, 2016, I went to Twin Lakes State Park for small picnic with my wife and 10 months old son. When I was about to return home around 6:30 PM, I realized that I left my keys in the trunk and the car locked out. My mobile doesnt have any network signal, luckily I have called the Hyundai road side assistance by using my friends mobile. The customer care professional took all my details and said, somebody is going to call me.After 5 mins I got a call from someone and they reviewed my details and said, the warranty on my VIN number is not showing up, and they are going to call the dealer and update me. I didnt get any after 30 mins so I called them back again. The story started from scratch again, they took all my details again and said they are going to send a text message, a driver details and approximate arrival time. I waited for some more time and called again, this time the automatic answering machine was telling that, my request was put on hold and asked me to un-hold. I have opted for un-hold, the story started again, they verified all the details again, but luckily this time the customer care professional was nice and told that, he will take it personally and try to reach the driver right away and update.He kept me on-hold for 10 mins and said, he tried to reach around 10 drivers and none of them are not available right now. He continued and said, he will try to reach more drivers personally and call me back once he gets the driver. All this story lasted for about 2 hours, but I havent got any assurance for any help. No assurance on somebody coming, when...etc. I really felt sad about this, because Hyundai made lots of promises for road side assistance when I bought my car. More importantly I was at the lake almost alone with my friends and 10 months old son waiting for this road side assistance.
I purchased my 2015 Sonata in January of 2016. After 3 days of ownership I noticed the panoramic roof was rattling, I returned to the dealership and the sales person said the car was just having some growing pains (this is the 3rd car I have owned with a pano roof - 05 Scion Tc and 14 Sonata Limited). I took him for his word and took a short road trip and the rattle only got worse. At 1822 miles I returned to the dealership and complained about the roof, and I was rewarded with the services manager telling me the 15s have been having issues with their pano roofs. They lubed everything up and told me they would call me when they had a fix. At 3998 (3/17/16) miles I returned to the dealership with the issue growing worse, once again Hyundai lubed the seals and said it was fixed. At this point I had enough and contacted Hyundais customer hotline and filed a complaint, and Hyundai didnt bother to respond. Shortly after my roof sustained some damage from debris and the dealership refused to work on it. They even joked around about maybe once the insurance company fixed my roof the rattle would go away. Once again I contacted customer care and filed a complaint warning of a lemon law violation. My case was passed on and I called back every single day for almost a month until I had someone return my call. Hyundai agreed to replace my entire roof under warranty, this was done in 8/8/16 at 10161 miles. Hyundai agreed to place their best warranty on the car at no cost to me and assured me the roof was fixed. A few weeks later the rattle slowly started to come back, it slowly got worse and the dealership in several undocumented occasions lubed up the seals. Once again I called customer care and spoke with their regional person who was helping me and raised my concerns. He agreed to send a engineer out to check my roof and if he determined the rattle was there Hyundai was going to buy back my car. On 3/6/17 I dropped my car off with an ever present rattle and picked it back up on 3/7/17 only to be informed that the rattle was not found by their engineer. On 3/8 Hyundai denied my claim for a buy back stating the roof was working as it is designed to do. Now I have to file a BBB complaint to get this issue resolved.
The front panels forming the front end is opening up and the whole front seems loose. If I push on the fog light area it closes back up. This has happened to both sides. Im wondering if anyone else has this problem.
Hyundai came through for my daughter after about two months. On July 23, 2013, I wrote a review about her clutch problems. Less than a week after she paid approximately $1200.00 and was told nothing was covered by warranty despite the fact that other technicians were saying it wasnt her fault and the work and parts should be covered by warranty, her clutch went again, same problem. This time, they issued her a complimentary rental, replaced all the parts, and reimbursed her for two thirds of the initial cost. By rights, the full amount should have been reimbursed but by that time we were just glad to be done with the whole matter and relatively satisfied with the end results even though it took quite a bit of doing to get there.
Hyundai is a good vehicle, great value for the price. I am not a car enthusiast, just want basic functions, ease of use and some comfort. Reliability is number one. I need a vehicle that is easy to get in and out of, perfect for my height, 5ft 7in. Must have ample usable storage, as I am a DIY. Average mpg 34. Freeway average 38 to 40 mpg driving conservatively. I choose Hyundai because I felt that I was getting an okay deal at the local Hyundai dealer, and I wanted to pay cash, limited my choices. Compared to Mazda, Honda, Toyota, Kia, Ford, Hyundai was the best deal for me. However, after three years of ownership, car interior dash and door, plastic rattling everywhere. Irritating, as I dont us radio often, thus noises all the time. Upholstery is itchy and irritating on bare legs.
I have a 2013 Hyundai Elantra and car just went over a small pothole and my tire was flat. I used Hyundai roadside assistance and they towed the car to the nearest dealership. Today they said that the wheel was damaged and I would need a new one costing $450. I asked them whether they would be able to fix the wheel and they said that they dont do that at the dealership and I would have to take it elsewhere. Here is why I am angry.Elantra does not come with a spare tire. They guarantee a huge mileage and one factor is because the weight of a spare tire is reduced. They also say that in case of a flat tire, we can drive around 50 miles to the nearest dealer as these are all tubeless tires and would still run with a flat tire. Well that is exactly what I did and I drove for 3 miles and the car started wobbling and I had to stop as I had my baby inside my car. Hyundai has free roadside assistance and this is why I cancelled my roadside assistance plan with my insurance. However there is a catch here - the car gets towed to the Hyundai dealer (in this case Patrick Hyundai in Schaumburg) who then makes sure that they rip the customer off so that they do not have to bear the cost of the tow.They told that the wheel itself had to be replaced. The rim was banged up and they had to replace the wheel. If was the roadside assistance of an auto insurer, we could have towed the car to any mechanic near us and they would have fixed the wheel. But now as my car is in the Hyundai dealership, I have to replace the part. The wheel gets banged up when it goes on a pretty small pothole? What kind of a wheel is this? The tire is not damaged at all but the wheel rim is damaged. How could this happen. Either Hyundai wheels are not good quality or the dealership is trying to rip off the customer to make up for the towing expense.I wanted to take the wheel to a different workshop to see what they would say but I badly needed the car today and I had to travel tomorrow morning. So I asked the dealer to go ahead and change the wheel. Overall I am unhappy. I am warning all my friends about this as many people fall for the 10 year warranty and free roadside assistance and 8.95 oil change.
My 2007 Hyundai Entourage at 49,798 miles had to have its pulley replaced at my expense. Obviously the part was defective. The dealer said there was no implied warranty, so I had to pay $279.57 for the labor and part. I never had a pulley replaced on any car I owned. One van had over 250,000 miles on it, and the pulley on it was still good.
When shopping around I was looking for a convenience features. Sonata Hybrid 2016 was slightly better than other midsize hybrid alternatives. Looked at all these reviews on Edmunds and similar websites. From their perspective it looks good. After one month of driving (and pretty good experience) main battery broke. Brought it to a dealership. It took already 2 days just to localize the problem. Accordingly to them it will take another 1-2 days to get an answer from Hyundai what needs to be done. This is a car on a warranty. What happens when its out. I feel Im screwed. This is a new car. Just started to pay for it.
I bought a new 2015 Hyundai Elantra and already had problems at 37,000 miles. My car started making weird noises and lost power when we went to take it in the car wouldnt even start. When you go there to buy a car they treat you like gold. If you have a problem I felt more like we were shoplifters. I would never recommend buying a Hyundai to anyone sadly it looks beautiful but thats it.
I was in a head-on collision in my 2004 Hyundai Elantra. I had my seat belt on, and I was the driver. My air bag light came on, but my air bag did not release. I suffered a great amount of pain, because my knees hit the steering wheel very hard.
I purchased a new 2009 Hyundai Sonata GLS with a manual transmission about two or three years ago. I considered it to offer the most value for the price back then compared to an Accord, Camry, and other models. Unfortunately, I believe I made a mistake with this purchase. I wrote about my problems with this car on this forum before. Now, its time for a brief update.The power locks stopped working intermittently. This was a result of an electrical problem in the drivers side door panel. Thats not something that should happen in a car that is less than 3 years old. Another issue is that the iPod charger does not charge properly either, so sometimes my iPod has no battery power left even if it was charging while the car was on. The clutch master cylinder also has been replaced twice: once at about 12,000 miles and again at about 35,000 miles. The car has 40,000 miles on it now. Both times, the master cylinder was replaced free of charge. However, when I was getting a routine oil change about two weeks ago, the Hyundai technicians said that I needed a brand new clutch. Incredulous, I went home and found the maintenance records for the master cylinder because it had already been replaced twice. I went back to the local Hyundai dealer the next day and showed them these records and they said this had nothing to do with replacing the entire clutch and that it would not be covered under warranty. I asked why not and he said that the clutch was only covered by a 12-month/12,000 mile warranty because it was a consumable part.” He also said that the clutch can go out at 15,000 miles or 60,000 miles--depending on how you drive the car. Of course, Ive only driven cars with manual transmissions, so I know how to drive them. Ive driven cars that are much older than this one that have never had clutch problems, including an 11-year old Daewoo. But my Sonata made a rattling sound when it was idling and the gear shifts were not smooth. Now I know why. Anyway, after shelling out $1900, the car runs much better. But Im tired of dealing with maintenance issues with this car. I really want to like my Sonata, but I can no longer trust it. I think I would have been better served by paying the extra $1500 for a brand new car from a competitor instead of wasting my money and time being disappointed by a car that I really wanted to like that always seem to have a defective part or a part that is constructed of substandard quality. Theres not much dealership support and the parts dont seem particularly reliable. My wife had many problems with her 2007 Hyundai Accent as well, so I think Ive seen enough. We will not purchase another Hyundai.
I have a beautiful Hyundai Tucson sitting in my driveway, towed there from the Dealership who advised my that my engine has failed and will cost $7000 to replace. The car is just a year and a half old. I missed a service therefore Hyundai will not assume any responsibility. I am disgusted that a car as new is this has an engine failure. It hasn’t run out of oil, no warning light came in (until the engine started rattling and I took it to the dealership the next day). Hyundai your customer service is as appalling as the engine in my car. I will be telling everyone to avoid Hyundai at all costs.

I just purchased a certified 2010 Sonata, with 59,000 miles on it, at Northtowne Hyundai in Gladstone Missouri. I brought the car to the dealerships service department to complain about a loud tapping sound coming from the top of the engine. I suspect it is a lifter issue. The service manager immediately dismissed the sound as fuel injector noise and stated that it was normal.I recently sold my 1995 Chrysler LHS (fuel injected) with 220,000 mile on it and never heard such a noise. If you are anyone else who heard the volume of this tapping, you would be concerned also! !
My air bag light came on Thursday, 2/16/2012. I took the car to the dealer to find out if it was a fuse or something. They tell me I must replace the air bag for $1800.00 for the light to go off. Are you kidding me? Seriously? I know there must be a recall on the airbag (2005 Sonata). Im not the only one. Does anyone know of a recall for that year? Im being stumped.
Hyndai has trash vehicles and they don’t take ownership. One recall campaign 181 lead to my valve covers being bad but first I was told nothing could be repaired because my engine is bad. Corporate got involved Eric ** the worst did nothing just boss Jennifer just as bad. I called day after day and she refused to escalate to her boss. Corporate world is suppose to help them customers. Poor customer service get all the heat but Lazy corporate gets all the $$$. Bottom line they want me to pay $387. My car has been parked for 10 days and they owe me $400 plus for rental. I need the highest in command to reach out to me or I go to my local news and all social media. Enough is enough.
My experience with Hyundai is the worst experience with a car company I’ve ever had and I’ve been leasing different cars for 25 years. I drove my 2021 Kona (top of the line) for 3032 miles before the entire transmission failed. I guess any car company can have a lemon in the batch so the fact that this car sucked isn’t what’s horrible about this story. It’s how Hyundai & Hyundai finance is treating me during the process of trying to return the car and get compensation back that’s hideous. They threatened my credit for a car I hadn’t had in months and made me continue to pay for it for months. They made me collect & turn in all the paperwork needed to get my case settled myself instead of helping and accessing their own records (copy of lease, payment records, etc.). Their entire computer/ website interface for customers fails every month and you have to call to get your profile erased so you can build another one… Only it remembers the email you used so every month you have to come up with a new email & hope this month their system for payment & account details doesn’t fail. They are offering me almost NOTHING back ($2300) even though I paid 1500 down & payments from September 2020-March 2021 at $367/month. They don’t even understand their own processes and told me that a significant amount of the money I am owed back for the car needed to be applied for at the dealership due to “separate contracts for alarm system, clear shield, & other aspects of the car’s system... But the dealership says that’s completely wrong. Oh ya, and every 30 days the paperwork I turned in expires & takes hours of effort on my part to resubmit. Do yourself a favor and RUN from Hyundai!
I have had my car serviced regularly. I decided to get the oil changed at 5000 miles but went over. However, before that can happen the car starting running rough. Check the oil dipstick, there was no oil in the car. No leaks! Howd this happen?
Most of the staff in Fairfax Hyundai Dealership, including supervisor, are rude and ruthless. The manager does not show up to the showroom, and does not return any calls. My Hyundai 2003 Sonata started smoking on New Years day. The car battery got drained due to an electric short circuit. The car was towed, and after paying $582, within 24hrs, the car smoked again. The dealer explained that this is a different problem, and I must pay an additional $250 to fix the auxiliary plug in the trunk. The dealer blamed me and the things in my trunk, to cause the electric plug to fuse (never heard of this before). My car is stuck at the dealer, and I want to take them to court for cheating, not fixing the issue, and jeopardizing the life of my sister who got stranded with a smoking car in the middle of night. I have no car to get to work to, skipped doctors appointments, and my car is still with the dealer.
I really enjoyed our Hyundai Sonata 2006.... We had the usual problems/recall issue with the airbags in 2013... At about 45,000 to 50,000 miles... many electrical problems. Apparently at some point without being disclosed to us when we bought it, our vehicle was a rental. At some point liquid was spilled into the console which caused electrical damage to the car under the front dashboard (car would not start - no crank - damage to body control module), so the dealership said. We didnt spill anything and this didnt happen till 5 months after we bought it. Either corrosion takes that long or there was something else going on. Never saw this supposed damage. Cost: $500.Shortly after that repair (16 days)... the drivers door would only unlock, internal BCM problems again. Go figure... no charge to repair. At 50,000 miles (Sept 2008) the Check Engine light would come on, cruise control inop., ESC and ABS light on. Cause: code c1513 brake switch failure (just read today that at some point that was a recall - had no idea - 1-9-14 so decided to share my story with others). They replaced the switch. N/C, but for some reason I noticed they did charge for 2 brake lights and labor $65. Most likely they were fine and it was the switch.Other issues.... sure seemed like the rotors/calibers rusted really fast and we changed all 4 brakes/rotors/pads etc. every year!!! Had none of these issues with our older Ford Taurus. No engine issues with the Sonata... just electrical and constant brake replacing.
In March, we had an engine issue with our 2015 Sonata that has less than 8000 miles... It started with the clicking sounds that we hear whenever we hit the accelerator. We brought it to a local dealer. They took 2 weeks to fix the issue. When I asked about if it was all fixed and all was good to go, the dealer said yes and that we shouldnt have any future issues with it. Within 4 days from picking up the fixed car, we start hearing the clicking sound again. We brought it back to the same local dealer to be fixed. Within 3 days of dropping off the car, we received a phone call from the regional manufacturer representative to ask about our vehicle and if the car was repaired. I let her know that we actually had to bring back the vehicle for the same issue just days before she called. She gave me her number and said that she would get back to me within 24 hours with an answer to whats going to happen next. I dont hear from her... Feeling frustrated, I call her to find out whats going on. Since she told me to get in touch with her rather than the dealer, I trusted her and only called her to find out whats going on. I never hear from her... In the meantime, my husband calls their Korean Customer service number to make the complains and only told to speak with the representative who is not returning our calls. She is the one who can make anything happen. WHAT??? We even tried to call different customer service numbers but we are told that she is the one we need to speak to and no one else. Finally after dropping the car off 3 weeks prior, we receive a call from the dealer that the engineer from manufacturer came out to inspect our car and that the entire engine needed to be taken apart to see what is wrong with it. It took 2 days for this engineer to inspect it but no real answers to what is the actual issue. I finally took time off from work to go to the dealer to inspect the car and everything under the hood is taken apart and they said that it will take days to put everything back and repair the issues. While at the dealer, we manage to speak with the Service Manager who said that the manufacturer went cheap way out the first time we brought the car out and they are very interested in our car because for a new car, it is having some engine issue that they cant pinpoint too. He also said that the representative advised him that she has been in contact with us so he doesnt need to call us.Feeling disappointed and frustrated with whats happening with our new car. We tried to get in touch with the regional representative. To this day, we havent been able to speak with her and the car is fixed but the engine makes a lot of noise for a new car especially compared to my dads car that has over 200,000 miles on it and we are just disappointed with our whole experience with this dealer and the manufacturer. We cant wait to return this car when its lease expires in 2 years. Never will I ever buy another Hyundai vehicle. There are reasons why people said never buy Hyundai. Shouldve listened to them.
I have a 2012 Genesis Coupe 3.8 loaded.. leather interior, etc... The car is only 2.5 years old. The back seat leather started to fade about a year after I bought the car. The front seats started to fade and rip about the same time. I had to give the service dept. bad rating in order to get their attention. They agreed to repair the back seats but refuse to repair the front seats. Im the only one in the car 95% of the time. Ive owned many cars with leather interior. Ive NEVER had such experience where the interior quality is so poor that it falls apart on its own. Im so frustrated with them that Im ready to trade the car in and get something else. This car has been sub-standard in quality and overall value. I would recommend that you stay away from this make until they cleanup their act. Very disappointed.
We have a 2009 Hyundai Sonata with the 2.4L 4 cyl engine. Engine made a knocking noise then locked up about 3 hours from home. Over time we had some minor issues with the car but were very happy with it overall. These included an oil leak covered under warranty, broken starter part, not covered, transmission not shifting properly, reprogram of transmission computer covered under warranty, and a broken door handle, not covered. The plastic starter part and door handle are known issues.When the engine locked up we were towed by AAA (wonderful folks!) 3 hours back home. I called the service department and was informed that there was a $101 fee to diagnose the problem. I dont work for free so I dont expect their mechanics to either. I indicated that the car was out of warranty by 2002 miles but asked that if they could do anything for me I would appreciate it. Service writer was polite but didnt give me a warm fuzzy feeling. A sales associate did offer to give us an appraisal of our dead car toward another Hyundai. Fat chance of that happening. When it was all said and done there was no offer of help from Hyundai other than to install a high mileage salvage engine for about 4 thousand dollars. I have taken the repair to a shop who I have done business with for years. I will never purchase a Hyundai of any kind again nor will I suggest the purchase of one.
Drove an hour from my home to Stockbridge, Massachusetts and left my keys on my car seat only to return and found out I was locked out. I called Hyundai roadside service and was told it would be 58 minutes for service to arrive. I waited an hour and called again and the automated response said the driver was 3 minutes away. I waited another 15 minutes and called and got a Hyundai live person and he told me that the service company 911 was 3 minutes away. Here’s where Hyundai roadside service failed. After waiting almost 2 hours I called and they told me that the service company canceled the work order to unlock my car because it was not their area. I was furious at this point and asked what do I do. After another 2 hours I received a call that a roadside assistance vehicle would come from Lenox, Mass. Will be there in approximately 5 hours. At this point I had to call my son to bring me another set of keys. It took him over 3 hours for a round trip run. It was either that or break my window a bill Hyundai. I will reconsider buying another vehicle that claims it offers roadside service.
I have two Hyundais and we are very pleased with them. However; I am very dissatisfied with Hyundais clandestine practices regarding Blue Link. My credit card was charged for renewal of the Blue Link in the amount of $148.10 on September 17, 2015. I did not receive my statement until October 21, 2015. I called and canceled the subscription but was told that I would only be receiving a prorated credit amount in the amount of ~$120 since I was one month into the subscription. I did not know I had the subscription until I received my card statement. This is clearly unfair and deceiving business practices the kind that the Consumer Affairs Division of the state attorneys office salivates over. I will share this information with the my friends who I shared my high marks of Hyundai with who also purchased Hyundais. With my vehicles, this will account for a total of 9 vehicles sold with my endorsement.
My 2008 Hyundai Veracruz with roughly 60,000 miles on it has been at the dealership for two weeks not running. There is damage to the engine and excessive sludge build up which has also damage parts around the engine. I was told that the work is not covered under warranty because it is due to lack of maintenance. I was able to produce receipts that proved I get scheduled oil changes on my car and passed on this information to the dealership. I then called Hyundai North America and filed a complaint and requested to have this work covered under the warranty since it happened from no fault of my own. It has now been two weeks and a Hyundai North America regional manager has failed to reach out to me and contact me in regards to this. I call and email and still have no answers as to what is going on with my car. I have just received a phone call from the dealership that they received an email and that Hyundai will not cover the engine damage because they still find it happened due to lack of maintenance. Nobody from Hyundai North America has reached out to me to discuss these findings. This is the second Hyundai I purchased because I was sold on Americas Best Warranty. This could not be less accurate. The customer service has been below par and the fact that they will not stand behind the warranty and fix what is broken is worse. I will never purchase a Hyundai vehicle again and I ask you to take my experience into consideration before you do. I understand that there is no guarantee that nothing will last forever and I accept that, I can deal with that. The customer service from Hyundai is what is completely dissatisfying and unacceptable.
Very angry with Hyundai Motor America. At the end of February my car had a warning light (the only one ever) Hybrid battery low, stop do not drive. After 2 days hunting for a battery, we replaced the battery only for it to be completely dead. Had it towed to the dealership. They run a diagnostic on it and tell me that it needs a power relay assembly kit replaced. Ok, so we have that replaced. The next day I call and they say, Well we replaced it but your engine is locked up! BULLCRAP! I have been going back and forth for over 2 months with Hyundai Motor America only for them not to stand up to their word!HMA called dealership to have them drop the oil pan and look for metal fragments, well guess what? They found metal fragments in my oil pan. Even knowing that these metal fragments are in there they are still denying my claim and refuse to replace my engine. They say my car is not part of the recall, imagine that! Is anyones car actually in the recall... I am so **! They are worthless liars! Would like to have an attorney to contact us all.
Had a check engine light on a 09 sonata with 47k miles. Also noticed gas comes out of tank when filling up. Went to dealer for checkup and advised that this part is not under warranty. Also spoke to Hyundai 800 6315151 with no help. Checked youtube, seems like a common problem with Hyundai. Bill to fix is $700. Hyundai lied again regarding warranty just like they did with gas mileage.
This service is such a scam! They give it to you for free and then before the year is up and you can call to cancel, they automatically renew on your credit card. Then for a month now (calls started 12/14 and hopefully ended today), I have been trying to get through to them to cancel and reverse the charge!!! I have emailed them 4 times and tried calling only to be on hold for over an hour!!! They offer you the option of giving your number for a call back but then never return your call. I finally got so disgusted I called the main customer service. The poor woman had to bear the brunt of my frustration and said she would make a note of my call in my file and that my money would be refunded. Today was my 5th call and now I am waiting to see if I get a confirmation of my cancellation like I was promised. I love my Hyundai and have owned them since 1997 but this treatment is enough to make me bad mouth them forever!!!
I recently purchased a 2012 certified Equus. Love the car but a couple of issues. I also purchased the extended 10 year - 100,000 mile warranty. The front grill when hit by stones or something, the fake chrome starts to crack and bubble. I replace the top piece, Hyundai says its not covered. Now I have the same problem on another piece. Top of the line car - this should not be happening. Also there is a smell coming from the heating/ac system, sometimes worse than others. I have replaced all filters, ozoned the car over night, air fresheners. Nothing works and no answers from Hyundai.
At 50000 mi., paint has started to peel along with rust coming through. 52000 mi., have had to have radio replaced twice. 55000 mi., both front drive axles have failed. These cars are a piece of junk. Glad I bought extended warranty. Will never buy a Hyundai again.
Ive procured an IX35 approx. a month ago from the Hyundai branch in Umhlanga, Durban, before I took delivery, there was a number of issues with the vehicle. The salesman promised that all issues relating to damaged drivers seat, back tail light, no door clips, etc. will be attended to. We agreed in writing that they will be resolved within 3 days. This never materialized. My numerous attempts to the dealership was ignored. I am also awaiting the registration of the vehicle which is also currently not done. I am at my wits trying to explain myself to the Sales manager and the salesman. The recent recommendation from the Sales Manager in writing that I must return the vehicle. I am comfortable with this and I kept asking for the last week now, when the deposit of 90 thousand rands will be refunded and the vehicle returned. I now hear today from the Sales manager that he will attempt to resolve the issues. I am now extremely frustrated and require that this matter receives urgent attention.
Bought a new Hyundai Elantra in 2002 and the transmission went out at only 80,000 miles. To fix transmission ranges from $1000 to $2500. That is more than the Blue Book value of the car! Hyundais are JUNK! Get a TOYOTA or a HONDA instead.
I owned a 2010 Hyundai Sonata and was in a very bad car accident where my car was totaled. This was reported and filed; all information and pictures were sent with State Highway Patrol accident report and nothing was done. Hyundai is a liar and they don’t stand behind their product. It took six months to receive a letter stating it was not a defect in the air bags. How can your car be smashed up against a concrete wall and a semi-truck and your air bags not deployed none of them? Hyundai sucks. If life is important to you and your family, don’t drive a Hyundai.
I have a 2007 Azera. This is not my first Hyundai, but this seems to be the one I am most disappointed in. I bought the car used in 2011. The car was clean, drove great, was good on gas mileage, then the check engine light came on. I took the car on a regular basis for oil changes and maintenance and when they hooked the car up to find out why the engine light was on, they had no answer. It didnt even register that it was on. So that was perplexing. Ive learned to live with the check engine light - it goes on and off when it feels like it. Then the motor on my sunroof stopped working, it will no longer open or close all the way. About a week ago I was leaving for work and I went to get in my car and the seat was pushed all the way back, now as a woman I panicked and thought someone had been in my car, but that wasnt the case. When I finally felt safe to enter my car (there was no one hiding in my back seat),I adjusted my seat back to normal manually.I started driving down the road and the seat readjusted itself without me touching anything, once again I panicked but this time it was because I couldnt reach the pedals. I turned around came back home and switched cars with my husband because I had no idea what the problem was and I didnt want to get on the highway and not be able to reach the pedals. He drove the car to his work and not only did the seat keep adjusting itself but the steering wheel moved also. On the way home that day, he said it seemed to be fine. Now a week to the day later, today, I was leaving work to come home which is a 48 mile drive, my cars seat was all the way back again. I tried adjusting it, I shut the car off and tried to start over, NOTHING - the seat kept automatically going back. Is this safe? Should I be driving this car when I cant even reach the pedals? Im very afraid at this point that I am going to get into an accident or cause an accident. What do you suggest?
Purchased a 2014 Hyundai Equus with 71 miles on odometer and Hyundai Motor America said I not entitled to 10 year/100,000 powertrain warranty as a second owner. Car purchased on Aug 1, 2015, and although manual provides for mandatory arbitration through Auto Line at BBB, I have been systematically denied an opportunity to argue my warranty rights. It has now been 11 months and despite countless calls to customer care office and a detailed letter to new CEO of Hyundai, he has not responded at all! Never! The manager at customer care, known only as Steve, said my case warranted an exception and he would send all my paperwork to legal dept. of Hyundai in California. Said in February, 2016 a decision would be prompt. After following up several times due to no response, Steve has settled upon a course of action to not speak to me or share legal departments evaluation. Nobody should buy a Hyundai and probably a Kia for reasons that an honest dispute will not even be considered and Hyundai refuses to authorize the Better Business Bureau to arbitrate a warranty matter it believes it has no jurisdiction over. The BBB representative said “Just ask Hyundai to approve.” and Susanne said she would not. And Dave Duchowski, the CEO refused to intercede or reply to my fully particularized letter dated March 10, 2016. My intention is to publish a series of editorials nationally and to pursue a criminal complaint with Brian Frosh, the Attorney General for Maryland.
Secret room scam artists. Leased a car for my daughter in 2011.. When the lease was up we went to buy the car out due to the overmileage on the car and decided she really liked the car. After showing her this fabulous 2014 car they made a very appealing deal to her and she agreed to lease again. They bought her car and said they would pay the overmileage on the car and she is free and clear to lease a 2014. Ohh wait.... You want to keep the same payment??? Well then they said you have to put 1800$ down in order to keep payments where they were... Wait let me speak to my manager...Away to the secret back room to see if deal can be made but first initial this to show what you want your payment to be... Huh? Umm ok? (Btw my husband and I own 5 vehicles and the only place that has a secret back room is Hyundai in Dickson city).Ok long story short she signed and gave them $1800 for this 2014 Hyundai Elantra. 1 month later I got a letter stating I owed the overmileage on the 2011 Hyundai bought back off me to get me into the 2014. When I called Greg (my sales guy) he said he talked to Ray and it was simple mistake, not to worry, its all taken care of. We bought your car, therefore we paid your overmileage...Month 2 I get a second notice that my account on the 2011 is past due with interest $1592.27... Husband and I personally went up and again Ray, max Carlos, never came out of the secret back room but again I was assured it was taken care of, we bought your car... Yet no manager had the time to come out of hiding in the secret room. Finally a collections agency calls me and tells me I am placed in collections for an unpaid balance of the overmileage on my 2011 Elantra! They advised me to go to the dealership and advise them they need to either cut me a check for this amount or be on a conference call with me to clear this up.My husband and I go to dealership and demanded to get on a conference call with the cowards hiding in the back and was denied. I repeatedly kept asking for Carlos to please come out of hiding and talk to us like adults and make the call at the desk we were at. We were then told he couldnt because his computer was different and showed more info than the ones on front. Umm ok? So we said fine we will go in the back where Carlos is and use his phone and computer screen to straighten this out. Ok heres the best part... We were told Its very busy and dangerous back there. My husband responds.. Is there a car on a jack waiting to fall on our heads??!He absolutely denied us a conference call and our issues werent resolved until 2 days later when I contacted the collections agency and told them what I experienced... She immediately called them.. Had me on line and spoke with Carlos who agreed to pay my overmileage like he should have in the first place! Bottom line its a very shady place and they are hiding something or that conference call would have not been a problem!I have never ever been to a dealership like this and dont plan on ever going back... Except with my attorney if I get one more letter. I plan on contacting the attorney generals office, Better Business Bureau (oh wait they were already reported to them) and vow to never ever do business with them again. I never once got an apology but surprisingly they expected me to thank them for trying to help lol. Ummm thanks?
Brought my 2015 Santa Fe in the middle of March 2021 after my mechanic reported engine issues. Dealership refused me at the door, after waiting an hour, and said there was no sound. 7months later, problem obviously worsens, and this time - wow, they found the same problem I reported 7 months prior. Did I mention my 6 year old vehicle only had 55,000 miles at the time I first reported this? What kind of quality engine starts fading at 55,000 miles - especially when the vehicle is primarily used to shuttle children to and from activities. Since it was bought used and past the warranty mileage of used cars (which why should the 100,000 mile warranty vary based on a car being used or new - perhaps because they know they can screw more people with said advertising?), Hyundai would only offer us 65% which might be okay if Hyundai engines weren’t 25,000$ (Are they using gold or some other precious gems in there?).What I’m also struggling with is the fact that smaller model Hyundai engines are being recalled left and right and totally covered. Well my semi larger sibling to these recalled vehicles is also experiencing this engine issue, so I beg you to consider this is an issue outside the smaller suv. The story doesn’t end there - so stay with me…Just over 2 months later (and a few days after completing a rating they sent me - ironic?), I hear back from the manager. They want to help me out - can you believe that!! I thought 2022 was going to be my year (despite Covid still going on and both my children having a stomach bug at the time of the call). There was one catch. Corporate would be more likely to work with me, IF I was willing to rescore them “as an act of good faith.” Well what fool would rescore them without a new offer proposed? You guessed it - this fool. In my defense, I wanted to know the percentage before rescoring, but of course that wasn’t possible since the higher ups had to make that offer. I figured - what do I have to lose?A month of me calling almost daily to find out what rescoring did for my problem resulted in nothing. Nada. Not a fraction of a difference because I don’t get my car serviced there and some other **. Which is ironic since their mechanics were the ones who didn’t notice the problem after my mechanic sent me there (now more than 10 months ago). Any respect for Hyundai (do you really find it acceptable for your engines to die at 55,000 miles?), any hope that they cared about their customer safety (I mean who would want their family driving in a vehicle that could leave them stranded after 55,000 miles), are lost. I am deeply disappointed with how much time I have wasted trying to work with a company that in my option is a scam. I’ve requested another rescore - think it’ll come as quick as it did the last time??
I would like to tell you about the service I received Hyundai in Downingtown, PA. I recently took my 2013 Hyundai Tucson for an oil change and state inspection which I was impress of how quickly it was taken care of. They provided great service and I was happy to return for more service. Due to a poor wheel alignment the service department had recommended that I replace my rear driver tire so that my car can pass inspection. When I left the dealership I heard a loud noise from the back tires. At first I thought it was from a wheel alignment that they recommended I needed. During the week, I notice the noise getting much louder to the point where I felt it was unsafe to drive. I went online to see if there was an appointment available but there wasnt so I decided to go to my local Firestone to get a second opinion. I described the noise and how a wheel alignment was recommended. During their inspection, they discovered that my new tire that was replaced by Hyundai was extremely loose and only hand tighten. I am so disappointed because I really thought I received great service especially being the end of the day but instead my life was at risk. I seen it for myself how the lugs were only hand tighten and the wheel shook by touch. This is my second Hyundai vehicle and second Hyundai dealership that Ive dealt with and I was never disappointed until now. I was able to speak to the service manager which he kindly took the time to see the vehicle. In return of risking my life he offered a complimentary oil change and to speak with the mechanic who worked on my vehicle because apparently thats what my life is worth. I will never trust the service of Hyundai again. I can only hope they will learn from this situation so that other customers will not be at risk.
I called Hyundai assurance re my Tuscon. I bought a two year lease. I am covered. I called 3 pm to make a case for towing later in evening. I called at 9 pm to have tow. The guy came and said he cant do it because it is parked behind a car and in front of another. He left me stranded. I called hyundia back. They told me stop complaining and hung up. This is useless totally. I waited till 7 am to call my Geico who picked up car no issue and dropped it at service. When I called them in the morning they said I have no coverage cause I live in burrows. Seriously disturbing. I like my car but the poeple and service are zeros.
Engine in my 2011 Hyundai Veracruz SUV blew up at less then 6,000 miles on the odometer. Leaving my wife and 20 year-old daughter stranded in West Virginia while in route to Savannah, Georgia.
2021 iconic does not support Apple phones even though they have Apple iplay icon in car. USB port does not work either. Although there is one in the car. Salespeople do not know this. Salesperson said my iPhone would work in the car. It does not. I sent an email to customer service. The form letter they sent back said they put what they feel the customer wants in the car. Really? Do you believe the customer doesn’t want to be able to use iPhones (really). And I mean any generation iPhone. I cannot use my phone GPS with Apple iplay or even my phone. Why would anyone not want to be able to use their iphone functions in a 2021 new car. No help or assistance from dealer or Hyundai. Will never buy a Hyundai again. They do not stand by their cars or even offer any type of resolution. Beware.
Well I have written many reviews and yet I truly do not think anything has or will change. I could sum up Hyundai quickly or at least the warehouse that ships out their parts for service, Incompetent. I hate using a word like that. See, some people just loosely use this word on companies just to rant but Hyundai is truly not a well oiled machine like the cars that they sell. At least the company doesnt worry about the management, or any sales reps that are selling the vehicles. That company runs entirely on the market pushing for an affordable and reliable vehicles. When it comes back to the human aspect of the company like CUSTOMER SERVICE, out the door it goes. I have had an awful experience with their service and being shipped out wrong parts for the last 8 weeks now. I have yet to see my car and all Hyundai is doing is taking more time to complete a task. The loaner vehicles that they have issued me (now 2) is not what Im paying for nor do I want it. This service dept has had my car in the shop for 8 WEEKS to just replace a motor in a sunroof. Thats it... But now the Gm will not take my calls due to he is ALWAYS too busy and the Sales Manger is so brash and rude to me I feel like he thinks he owns the place the way he talks to me. Just an FYI, If customers dont come and buy the vehicles on the lot, then you dont have a job. I think in the game that you play, you should be more grateful to the customers that provide for you. I would give this company and experience a 0 but it is not an option. I have written so many of these complaints that this one is just a brief summary of the incompetents of this company and truly I cannot waste anymore time on a concrete wall that will not budge. Sorry Hyundai you have taken this route because you use to be on top of your game. I know that I am only one person you have decided to pushed away but we add up quickly and your company depends on us, the consumer. I hope that this message reaches out to the top of wherever it needs to go to and some sort of something happens as oppose to you guys treating me with disrespect. I am only frustrated because you have yet to reach out to me and consult and make better. As a company that deals with a lot of customers I would feel that would be your top priority, not to just sell cars and then leave the customer high and dry. Thanks Hyundai for the experience, you have truly made me very upset and shown me again that dealership as yours just will never get it. Its not about you guys, its always about us... THE CUSTOMER.
I bought a new 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT. I was promised 27 city 37 highway. I am barely getting 22 city and 31 highway. My sister bought the same car a month later and is getting the same results. We took the cars in for a Mileage Check and they did a completely fraudulent test with bogus results and basically told us to get lost - there was nothing they could do for us. Details: They made us top the engine and returned our cars having NOT been topped off - hence the faulty results.
I leased a 2017 Hyundai Elantra and was very unhappy with the auto. I contacted the dealer who said they would sell me a 2017 Hyundai Tucson and purchase the Elantra from me, I paid them $4350.00 which took care of early lease return fees, taxes and everything else. This was a purchase and sale. I have all the papers to prove this and tried to explain to them, Hyundai leasing, that I do not owe them anything and, if any monies have to be paid it would be by the Dealer, not me. Now they have reported me delinquent to the credit bureaus and as a result my credit scores have been reduced and as a result this has cost me higher interest fees, etc. I have disputed this with Equifax, Transunion and Experian but not successful. What can I do to rectify this???
Wondering if anyone with a 2012 Hyundai Sonata has noticed a ring around the sunroof on the inside lining? I am afraid it is mold. Dealer said mold wont grow on the liner. Anyone else experiencing this? I have the car in the shop right now awaiting a pressure test that I am being charged for to find if there is a leak. If there is a leak... guess what? It is not covered under warranty. The warranty for the sunroof runs out at 1 year, 12k miles. Nice, huh?
I bought a 2011 Hyundai Tucson about a year ago and was promised bells and whistles (which I knew in part werent true), but the one that appeared real was free maintenance for 3 years. To a single mom on a budget, that sounded spectacular. I even watched as the dealer and loan officer wrote down this promise multiple times, but when it came to signing my contract I did not double check to see if my free maintenance for 3 years promise had been recorded.When I called to make my regular service appointments, everything went smoothly at first. After about the third appointment, service fees started appearing and suddenly I was told by the service department that Hyundai never gives 100% free maintenance. Apparently, what was meant by my too good to be true deal was that free maintenance only means free oil changes and that is it. Everything else will cost you. Driving my Tucson is just fine, but being duped puts a sour taste in my mouth every time I step into my car. Im on the fence about buying from Hyundai again. No matter how much one tries not to get screwed over by dealers, it seems they always find another way to get you.
My experience with Hyundai is once again worst than the last. It is my 3rd disappointment with them and last, I just came out of a 3 year lease and decided I wanted to buy the car and instead of showing me my options through Hyundai Finance which I was leasing with they convinced me with lies about how being I didnt use the car much, I would have to pay more and convinced me to go with Chase auto loan, after a few days I called Hyundai Finance and the person on the phone told me, I should have bought through them which would have been close to 8k less, through Hyundai finance it would have ranged around 9k plus maybe 3k in taxes and instead now I will end up paying close to 18k.It is my 3rd and final deal with them, no one there is honest and they are out just to rob you, I should have gone with my gut and listened to my cousin and end my lease and bought through Carvana, I wish I knew the info I got from the person on the phone earlier but I thought I was dealing with honest people, anyways God bless them and everyone reading this and make sure you always ask all the right questions and if you have to take time or reschedule to review things before you commit to it or sign documents, do so, so you dont get trapped and tricked like I did.
I bought my 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT based on the reputation, look of the car and the estimated mileage. I had previously owned an all wheel drive car - the handling of which was fabulous but was unhappy with the mileage (20 city/25 highway). The Elantras estimated 27/37 mpg was worth giving up excellent handling. Initially my mileage was 23/28 with the Hyundai and so I waited a few months thinking the car needed to be broken in. Now, a year later, I am still only getting approximately 24mpg in the city and 29mpg on the highway. I complained to the service department in September and they agreed to test the mileage.Heres what happened at the test: I topped off the tank 1/4 mile from the dealer and delivered a filled-to-capacity tank. They then drove the car 40 miles and then refilled the tank with 1.089 gallons determining that my car gets 36.73 miles per gallon. Knowing that was impossible, I drove immediately to the same filling station and put an additional .615 gallons in the tank, topping it off. Obviously, their idea of topping it off and mine were very different. With the additional .615 gallons, the mileage would have been determined correctly at 23.52 which was just about what I have been getting. When I called and asked them about it, they couldnt understand my point and stood by their test. I contacted Hyundai Consumer Affairs who spoke to the dealership and determined that there was no more they could do at that point unless I wanted pay for a test at another dealership. I was unwilling to do that if the first test had already proven to MY satisfaction that the mileage I had been getting all along was all I was going to get and another dealer, when contacted, said they would just take the mileage reading from the cars gauge to determine mpg. The gauge always shows 2-3 mpg better than what I actually get and is still nowhere need their estimated 27/37. I knew Hyundai had been fined for overestimating mpg in the past and in fact have a program of reimbursement because so many people have complained about the misrepresentation of mpg so I actually thought that meant I could trust their estimated mpg because they would not want to be found lacking in that area again. However, that is clearly not the case. At this point I feel I have no recourse except to register my complaint and hope something can be done to my satisfaction.
I bought a used 2010 Hyundai Accent with 31,000 miles from a Columbus used car lot. I wanted to get the car certified so that I could reinstate the 100,000/10 year powertrain warranty. I called the Hyundai corporate headquarters in Arizona, and was told by a long-time, highly experienced customer service rep that all I had to do was take the car to any Hyundai dealership, pay a fee, and they would perform the 150-point inspection required to certify me car. I made it abundantly clear that the car was not bought from a Hyundai dealership. I called four different Hyundai dealerships in Columbus/Newark, Ohio and spoke with an unparalleled collection of rude and ignorant idiots, who all provided different interpretations of the Hyundai warranty, although all sold that brand for a living. Four hours later, I received a frantic call from a young man who identified himself as a Hyundai Case Manager. Apparently he had reviewed the voice tape of my conversation with the corporate customer service rep, and was calling to tell me that the rep did not understand the pre-certification procedure, and that Hyundai could not and would not certify my vehicle. Next I called the Hyundai dealership in Heath, OH about repairing a plastic bumper cover that had already cracked in the bitter cold we have been experiencing (in my garage). I was told very rudely that the Hyundai Bumper-to-Bumper warranty does not include bumpers!! I have had the car three weeks, and this is my experience with Hyundai. By the way, this is a car that was rated at 40 miles/gallon highway in 2010 which, after testing, was shown to get 32 mpg at best. NEVER DEAL WITH HYUNDAI.
I traded in my 2013 Kia Optima SXL for a 2015 Kia Optima SXL. I used the $5850 left after my payoff as my downpayment on a lease. I was in a horrible crash two weeks after and the car had 586 miles on it and it was totaled. My insurance said the car is so new they werent depreciating it, but Hyundai only says I will get back $3986.45 so I now have to lose part of my downpayment. My insurance handled this in a week and I have to pay out of my pocket because Hyundai says it will take about a minute to give me what Im due back! They have their money right away. Gap insurance obviously isnt worth it if the car is new.
In February 2016, we purchased a used 2013 Sonata Hyundai Hybrid with 47,000 miles. We also purchased the extended warranty. The car has a new car warranty in place, already of up to 120,000 miles. Total warranty period should be approximately 10 years. In March 2017, at 71,000 miles, the electrical (high voltage battery) shut down, the car just down and would not move in the middle of traffic. This happened 3 times before Hyundai was able to repair it so the car was running. This repair was completed March 30, 2017, along with a complete fluid change and tune up. Hyundai covered the battery under warranty and charged us for the fluids and tune-up.On October 2, 2017, the car completely seized up and engine began knocking. We had it towed into the Hyundai dealer. The car now had 81,000 miles total. We have contributed to only 35,000 miles. We have an extended warranty, but technically, since we are still under 120,000 miles, the car should be covered under factory warranty.Hyundai refuses to repair the vehicle, both their extended warranty department and the Hyundai corporate office claims that we are to blame for lack of upkeep. If this was not outrageous enough, Hyundai recently signed a settlement agreement regarding their 2011-2014 Hyundai Sonatas in which the customers stated in part: Plaintiffs further alleged that dealers frequently didnt replace the engine, citing the drivers alleged failure to regularly change the oil or failing to keep service records. Same thing is happening here, even though the settlement was reached and signed by all parties. There is no integrity in these large corporations anymore. We are without a vehicle in only one year (we put $10,000 and still owe).
Ive taken in my 09 Hyundai Sonata twice to get the airbag light fixed, under warranty at the time. It still keeps coming on. Now, not under warranty, I cant afford the $109 to have it reset yet again. Why isnt Hyundai fixing the problem? I assume they are just doing a reset on the light and not actually fixing the problem. Now I cant pass state inspection and am very disappointed. I like the car itself, but this is ridiculous! I have read that this is a problem with Hyundai, yet no fix?
I own auto repair shop. Also I have a dealer license, I purchase a 2016 Hyundai Accent @ auction with 25000 miles, car runs beautiful, but we notice some weird noise when we put it in reverse. So we took it to this dealership (PRIDE HYUNDAI LYNN, MA). Long story short need a new tranny, dealership and this car company refuse to replace it because they said car was involve in an accident. Car is clean title, CLEAN CARFAX or CRASH REPORT, this F... people dont even know how a car runs. They only base everything according what a book said, STAY AWAY FROM HYUNDAI!!! THE FAMOUS 10 YEAR/100000 MILES FACTORY is a complete crap. Stay away from Hyundai!!!! For your own good.
From the car buying process, getting the car serviced, returning and paying off the car, this experience was a nightmare. I was constantly told one thing, only to be misled and overcharged. I wouldnt recommend buying a car from Hyundai to anyone. Save yourself the money and headaches and go elsewhere.
I purchased a new 2013 Hyundai Elantra Limited - Black with Black Leather Interior with a 5 year warranty or 60,000 miles. I have 10,115 miles on the car. The car is driven by one driver only and no one has ever sat in the back seat. The back bench seat on the top part right under the head rest, the stitching is coming apart and you can see the foam now. Poor quality of thread. I live in Southern California where the weather is not harsh. The outside weather stripping is flopping in the wind on the back passenger door on passenger side. I took the car into be repaired by the Irvine Hyundai dealership and they saw no problems because I have a 5 year Interior Warranty. Well to our surprise the repairs were denied. The Irvine dealership recommended I put in a claim with the headquarters - Hyundai Customer Care Center which I did. The claim came back denied because they said it was caused by an outside environment. This is unacceptable. I have a warranty. I own 3 older Hondas with all leather seats and I have never ever had any problems with thread coming apart. I tried to discuss with my claims manager further and they refuse to talk to me. They told me the claim is final and closed.
This is a Lexus equivalent for half the cost. Among the best cars I have owned. I have the R-Spec which is laser fast and totally upscale. Mechanically flawless to date. Drives like a dream. Fit and finish are superb. Dealer support excellent.
