Recall on Santa Fe gasket leaking oil into alternator - Received recall notice after I had already paid over $700 to repair same. Contacted Hyundai headquarters (10550 Talbert Ave., Fountain Valley, Cal. 92708) more than once. But never so much as get a reply. Sent them copies of recall and bill.
As a loyal customer of Hyundai Vehicles that currently owns 4 Hyundai Cars I am extremely disappointed in the service received from the service department. My daughter is a college student in the area away from home. When purchasing her vehicle I added all the Hyundai Warranties offered to me in order to secure her safety at all times. Her vehicle was taken in April 2016 for repairs and replacement of a few items. She left there with not 1 item corrected. I called several times and was given several excuses. One weekend in May 2016 I drove 5 hours to address the issue in person. I was told by Curvin (Advisor) and Mike (Manager) that the issue would be resolved. Well June rolled around no action. I called the GM of this location to assist in the matter. Well he never returned my call. The only thing he did was send my message back to the service managerAfter contacting the warranty department myself I learned that Hyundai never requested the approval until June 30, 2016. Well here we are in July 2016. Still waiting on the items to be ordered. This will be my last Hyundai and I would not recommend anyone take their vehicle here. Since they were not making extra money off of me, my daughter service was not a priority at all. In 37 years this is the worst experience I have ever had...
Painting problem of Hyundai Sonata 2009 - I bought a Hyundai Sonata Limited on September 26, 2009 and I have been driving this car since then. On February 19, 2012, I discovered that the painting of my car was peeling off on the roof, hood and side of the car. The paint is peeling off in large layers not small portion. My car currently has 66,000 miles and is approximately two years old. I regularly check and change oil in my car every three months in Hyundai in McKinney, Texas. I wanted to solve the problem of my cars paint so I went the dealership in McKinney, TX where I bought my car. After discussing the problem, they suggested going to the Hyundai body. I went to the Hyundai body shop in Plano Texas. They estimated $1,948 for painting repair. The dealership said that I would have to pay to repair out of my pocket. It has been past warranty.I then contracted the Hyundai Consumer Affair about my cars problems and they too stated that my car was past warranty so it is my responsibility to pay for painting. My car has not been in an accident or has experienced any environmental factors that would cause the paint to peel. Before I bought my car, the car was driven by a dealership manager for a while who put approximately 5,000 miles on it. There were many of lock chip spots on the car and the paint was peeling off numerous places. I wanted to buy the car so dealership promised to fix the paint and sell it to me. I bought the car with the paint problem fixed. In my analysis, when Hyundai fixed the paint, they did not use quality paint or the paint that was already on the car was poor quality. The car once again has problems of peeling paint. I strongly believe that Hyundai has responsibility to fix the paint on my car.I understand that Hyundai set the rule to apply the warranty, however, I have not driven the car for three years yet. This paint problem is clearly a defect caused by the car manufacturer. I do not think I have a responsibility to fix the paint on my car because it is not even a three-year old car and the problem is the quality of the paint on the car. Hyundai must to provide quality customer service and provide quality manufactured vehicles to sell to the customers. It was my understanding that when I purchased the vehicles from Hyundai that I would receive both. Therefore, it is Hyundais responsibility to correct the paint problems on the car since I have not caused the paint to peel.
DO NOT BUY A PALISADE!!! We’ve had our Palisade for four months. We love the features and ride but had it back to the dealership five times because of excessive winds noise at highway speeds (> 50 mph) noticeable in the front seats. The dealership pressure tested the cabin, replaced door seals, and checked door alignment. Finally, they removed the side view mirrors and determined the whistling sound is wind turbulence from the mirrors after a test drive. The dealership has been great but Hyundai refuses to acknowledge the issue. We opened a case with Hyundai but their case manager said there is no design flaws so there is nothing they can do. I just want a brand new $50K vehicle to act like a $50K vehicle. DO NOT BUY A PALISADE!!!
When I purchased my Kia (At Hyundai), it was used so the dealership offered me an extended warranty that they sold, so I bought because you know, it’s a used car. Well last week my engine locked up on me randomly on the highway so my initial thought was “Call Hyundai because they sold my warranty to me.” So I did, and they came and towed my vehicle. Well until my extended warranty covered my repairs, I could not get a loaner so I was stuck with nothing. The next day I called and they informed me that I needed to provide proof of all my oils changes but I’ve only ever gone somewhere once to get it done. Others were done outside of a shop because I mean a lot of people do that (wasn’t done by me). They needed AT LEAST two from an actual mechanics shop (per my warranty although the warranty just states I need proof of oil change even though just giving them a receipt wasn’t enough). Well I didn’t have what they needed. So they asked if they could be approved for 2 HOURS of labor so they could get to the issue of my locked engine, through email, which was fine at the time because I was like whatever I just need my car fixed and I thought they were trying to help me out. Well two days go by, I had left the GM TWO voicemails, and no returned call so I drove up there myself to talk to him. THAT WAS A JOKE. He basically said my warranty wouldn’t cover it because it looks like it was a neglect on my end but he wanted me to keep it there “just in case”. A couple days later I find out about a settlement going on between Kia & Hyundai where they are having to replace certain models engines (A LOT that is) because of the recall on them. Hyundai swore they spoke with someone at Kia and asked if there was any recall or extended warranty on my motor, and the guy at Kia said no. COME TO FIND OUT that is NOT what the guy at Kia said and what’s crazy is Hyundai KNOWS about the protocols for this recall on my motor because they have the same issues with theirs!! They then blamed me for it not being fixed and having to owe because I “interrupted” the inspection being done by Apex, but the ONLY reason I did was because I needed a loaner ASAP and Kia promised I’d have one as soon as I got my car over there because they knew the issue fell under the settlement agreement that Hyundai knew about too but stated they were told I didnt have an extended warranty with the settlement which is why they went through Apex. But, Apex would have seen the engine was locked and known about the settlement which would have resulted in them denying the repairs. AND HYUNDAI knows that they would’ve have had to send it to Kia anyways due to my engine being locked, but they decided to take it into their own hands so they could make SOMETHING off of me. I not once signed ANY paperwork because they were communicating with me through EMAIL (how professional I know). And then the service department got MAD at me because I called and tried to get ahold of their GM (that was a joke, HE is a joke). He never returned my calls, so I went up there myself and spoke with him (that was also a joke. I don’t even see how he’s a GM).Needless to say, they will not give my car to Kia until I pay them $600 when I only approved them for 2 hours of work. And when I mentioned this, the service manager said it was because they had to reassemble my car before they could tow it, which is fine but I NEVER got a call about this or ANYTHING. When I mentioned THAT, he then replied with “Well I can disassemble it and you can come pick it up that way then”. When I say I will NEVERRRR give this sorry dealership my money EVERRRR again, I mean this with everything in me!!! They take advantage of the fact that I’m a woman and I don’t really know what’s going on.They tried to say “Well even if you pay the $600, you’ll get reimbursed by Kia for it” and after speaking with Kia’s director he informed me that that is NOT true and that it would be EXTREMELY tough to get them to reimburse me. This Hyundai dealership has taken my niceness for granted, and I hope that NO ONE ever gives them their money!!! I know $600 doesn’t seem like much, but I pay for EVERYTHING that goes on in my life, by myself (w/ Carrington’s help too) and I refuse to give my money to these hateful, disrespectful, worst communicators, ANY OF MY MONEY. This place just wanted to make SOMETHING off of me because they knew they’d get basically nothing. What’s sad, is if my car could just get to Kia I would have a brand new motor due to the settlement and be in a loaner car. Right now because of Hyundai, I have gone two weeks having to depend on my mom. And I will be contacting the BBB.May I add that the service department made it very clear that I pissed them off by going to the GM. I am a college student and have two kids who I have to get to school every morning as well as myself to work!! And I’ve been without any kind of vehicle for two weeks. They have ZERO signed papers by me, and I just can’t believe this at all. The service manager said word for word “Well if you’d like I can disassemble it and then you can come pick it up” all because I said they never called and asked for my permission before doing something that would cost me this much.
I purchased a 2020 Sonata Ltd 1.6 Turbo in March 2020. Since day one the engine has had a burning smell and I’m wondering how many other Sonata owners are dealing with this. I’ve taken the car in 5 times. They’ve done pressure checks for leaks, reached out to other Hyundai service centers and gone over the car with a fine tooth comb without finding the problem. I reached out to Hyundai Consumer Affairs who basically told me to live with it. So I’m asking, if there are any other 2020 Sonata owners with this problem, don’t let the service center tell you the smell will go away because it won’t. Call their Consumer Affairs at 1-800-633-5151 and lodge a complaint. I paid almost $40k for a car that I can’t even park in my garage because the smell is so bad and Hyundai wont address my problem. Also, if you’re thinking of buying a Sonata be sure to turn it on, raise the hood and put your nose down near the radiator. If you smell that burning coolant, WALK AWAY!! So so disappointed in Hyundai.
Hyundai bluelink causes my 2015 Genesis Sedan to randomly start and unlock itself. I spent months trying to resolve this issue with Hyundai and they offered no help. They randomly called after not receiving any contact and said the issue was fixed. Didnt offer any help and kept asking me to pay more money to extend services I didnt need.
Non- uniform & Excessive Tire Wear. There is a documented history of this problem in 2011 & 2012 Sonatas. In to the shop after 2000 miles for slight steering problem - Results - The Dealer checked out the car and determined that it was not one included in the recall so there is nothing wrong with my car. Back to the shop at 10,000 miles. Left front and right rear tire wearing and cupping on the inside. Result - told to rotate tires. Tires had been rotated every 5000 miles. At 20,000 miles the tires were making so much noise it sound like I was running big off road tires on pavement. I called Hyundai customer service and got a service number to have the car checked out. They put the car on the rack and said Everything is in spec. and wear is consistent with the mileage. I showed the service manager the tread depth readings I had taken on each tire; inside, center and outside. He just dismissed me.At 27,000 miles I couldnt stand the noise so I bought new tires (not from the dealer) from Pep Boys. They had an old time alignment guy that adjusted the camber on the rear wheel but there was no provision for adjusting the front wheels. I also did not rotate the tires again. The rear wheel adjustment did help but it was very obvious the front was still wearing badly. At 70,000 miles I bought another set of tires because of the noise. I kept the old tires, took pictures of all of them and went back to the dealer. He had his people look at them and they all stated the tires had uneven wear and cupping. I am now pursuing getting the car fixed (Good Luck). I do have a case number, but I will have a hard time getting the service manager to move ahead. I have also filed with the BBB but they said I have too many miles on the car. My next best recourse at this point is to keep the pressure on customer service. There is a documented history of this problem in 2011 and 2012 Sonatas. Please let me know if you have any experience with problem and with Hyundai.
Worthless Warranty. My 2012 Hyundai Genesis engine broke a piston rod and punched a hole in the block. I had just had the oil changed and the engine was full of oil. But because I didnt have the oil changed at a Hyundai dealership, Hyundai America claimed I didnt have any oil in the engine and denied my warranty claim. This was with 45,000 miles on the engine. Nothing I could do would change their mind. If they say no, thats it regardless of their warranty. What a lousy company!!!
Briefly, after I got in my car and closed my door, it didnt latch well. I had been having problems with it lately. So while I was moving, I opened and then closed it again but while I was closing it, the lock mechanism engaged and as it was about to latch and lock, it bounced back open. So I quickly reached for it to grab it as a vehicle was approaching. I was in a parking lot at the time traveling at about 15mph. It had swung open so far that when I reached for it, my momentum shifted in such a way that I actually fell out of the car landing on the pavement. I was traveling at about 15mph. My car struck a parked vehicle. Damage to it was minimal. Damage to mine was significant. No pedestrians were struck, but I sustained a neck injury.
I recently purchased a 2012 certified Equus. Love the car but a couple of issues. I also purchased the extended 10 year - 100,000 mile warranty. The front grill when hit by stones or something, the fake chrome starts to crack and bubble. I replace the top piece, Hyundai says its not covered. Now I have the same problem on another piece. Top of the line car - this should not be happening. Also there is a smell coming from the heating/ac system, sometimes worse than others. I have replaced all filters, ozoned the car over night, air fresheners. Nothing works and no answers from Hyundai.
I called asked for an estimate three days before I scheduled repair. I was told 330 for labor to do a knock sensor replacement. I ordered part at dealership which was 74.20. I went in today. 1 hour and 36 minutes. Charged me 480.00 for labor, 28.80 misc charge 508.80. I dont think current mechanics get 500 an hour then tell me that my repair isnt warrantied because I didnt have them put on computer there. I am on disability and this took every cent I had.
This is not exactly what happened, but more like a what is about the Hyundai Elantra. I have just found this website when I decided to do some searching for Hyundai information, especially the Hyundai Elantras so-called automatic transmission. You see, in July 2010, I was desperately in need of some good transportation for myself and my family, and I decided to take a look at Hyundai. I am embarrassed to say that I bought two Elantras at the same time. Im even more embarrassed to admit that I traded a really nice Impala for them. OK, time to cut through the chase about the Elantra automatic. I have a very strong belief that Hyundai is under geared or lacks adequate gearing for the motors power band. Admittedly, Im no expert and unable to spew out technical jargon on the subject. But shortly after becoming an owner of my two Hyundais, I noticed that there was something very substandard about how these things shifted and accelerated. Ive begun reading other peoples reviews and I believe some of them are describing the very same condition, but maybe a little less technically aware of the actual problem. Its true that the vehicle will upshift during acceleration, putting the motor into a lugging state, if that is possible for a gasoline motor as it is for a diesel motor. Just to reiterate, Im not an expert on the subject but actually would love to hear someones expert opinion on the matter. Anyhow, these people are right such as Della of Omaha, NE - i.e. during normal acceleration. The vehicle shifts, then has very little power and begins to chug and vibrate so you have to punch the accelerator to go back down into the gear you just upshifted from. The condition is somewhat circumvented the more rapidly you accelerate, but soon you may find the RPMs back in that inadequate power range. I dont think this poses a problem for salespeople during a test drive because they know most people are going to punch the accelerator to see how it accelerates, meanwhile not noticing this annoying flaw. Now there is something in the drivers manual about manually downshifting for some situations and I think this can help some, but I think there is a tendency to forget to shift back into high gear. So to me, that makes it questionable about whether or not the vehicle is really automatic shifting, even though it is technically an automatic transmission. Ive heard people saying they went to the dealer experiencing this condition. Im not surprised theyre not acknowledging a problem with the vehicle. After all, they knew about it when they sold it to you. Without quoting right from the warranty, Im pretty sure it says something about vehicle performance that is characteristic to all the vehicles deems it to be normal. I would guess its a car companys right to sell you a crappy car, and the dealers too. It just proves people will do anything for a buck, even to whip out their Motor Trend magazine where it was their car of the year. So how did that happen, are they a creditable magazine? I just think they knew they were building a crappy car and they got people going around saying its great.
After driving my car for only 20 months the engine started to make a ticking noise & now my warranty claim is denied for lack of receipts & sludge. I am highly upset because I have to pay for a car that no longer works at the same time continue to pay for a warranty that denies my claim. What really is the point of purchasing a warranty if they are going to deny you? Now be that as it may I had this same problem before with a previous car I owned but did not have a warranty on it. All the reason why I purchased a warranty this time. What is up with all these used cars breaking down after 20 to 30,000 miles driving it? So I got a warranty on the Hyundai as part of my payment plan. The worst part about this deal is that Hyundai sold me a warranty that has been denied because of supposedly sludge build up in the car. I gave them a total of the latest 3 receipts I had. I sent them the stickers that the service men place on the corner of your driver side window for every time I had an oil change, dating back to when I first got the car to prove I actually did have the car worked on. And yet I am still denied. It really sucks. I pay my notes on time and have my car maintenance all the time. I was not even aware I had to keep my receipts for the warranty to even be used. They are not at all loyal to their customers. In talking to them they all will say they understand but cant do nothing for you, while they are still charging you for a lemon they sold you. America needs to make a law behind this. If a claim gets denied they should at least discontinue the contract seeing as they cant do anything for it if they obviously deny you. I also believe that all cars should be refinanced to the bluebook value if something as tragic as an engine or transmission breaks down.
I purchased a new 2018 Hyundai Kona. After 15000 miles I needed a new transmission (it was covered) however my dealership did not have loaner cars so I had to pay for a rental, pay for Uber to get the rental, pay for the uber from the rental to pick up the car. Then to my surprise at 20000 miles I needed 2 new tires (which had 0 coverage). I was told to call Good Year. They covered the tire warranty.... Well 400.00 later I had 2 new tires for no reason except they were worn out!!! Hyundai basically said, Oh well!!! So the wonderful warranty they shove down your throat when you are looking is not all it is cracked up to be! BEWARE.
For the price point of this vehicle I expected not to hear anything inside. But it seems as I go 40mph and above I hear air as if the window is cracked open. Hyundai says its road noise but I know the difference. Its a lot quieter in my wifes Juke than in the Palisade. I think the door is to light weight so air noise seeps through. Hopefully Hyundai will find a fix for this. Its probably the only reason so far I would not keep this vehicle.
Yesterday I put my car for service. In my car there is little bit problems like my boot is not open quite often, my GPS is freezing etc. I ask that guy to check. He told me Hyundai didnt give him money to check what is the problem. If it is not working then they will fix. I told him I bought a headache with my money. I am not happy with their attitude and expression. I will never recommend anybody to buy Hyundai. I will sell my car as well.
So my car got towed last Friday and Ive been calling the reinstatement department for almost a week and they have so much attitude they yell at you. They wont tell you once what documents they need. You will be going back and forth to OfficeMax and your home. Finally, when you have all of the papers faxed, they will tell you they never got them. You end up faxing 6 times.
I have a 2008 Hyundai Elantra that is slipping out of the park gear. My car is still under warranty and I took it to the dealership to get it looked at. The dealership put in a request to the main Hyundai office to have this replaced or fixed; they rejected the request and advised me to use the hand brake. I contacted the Hyundai office about this and they were very rude and told me this is normal on any cars. What can I do about this very serious issue?
Once you buy the car you are on your own with respect to the warranty. There is a poor association with the dealers and the company. The dealer will tell you the work is not covered or do poor work on the car and you have no options. The company will say it is a dealer issue and the dealer will tell you that the corporation has such strict guidelines on warranty work and you will not get anywhere. I complained and sent letters to executives and the president and they will send you back to customer service which will give you the usual routine about company policy. There is NO means of escalation. All you can do as a customer is use social media. This company has archaic concepts of customer service. This company has a long way to go with respect to customer service after you buy the car. Warranty work is very limited. Do not expect standard repairs after you purchase. I will never buy a Hyundai Car again!!!
I should have known better. I was a career car reporter, now retired, and I had seen first-hand the quality issues with Hyundai. But reviews like those in Consumer Reports convinced me things had changed, so I purchased a new Elantra GT in Canada in 2005 with a 5-year warranty. As I was retired, the car sat in the driveway mainly and that was part of the problem. More mileage would have unveiled the problems quicker. As delivered from the dealer, a brake light was missing and the alignment was off. I had my own mechanic fix these at my cost. I also had the car rust-proofed with oil spray as Korean steel is known to rust quickly. (Did not help, door seams and hatch rusted anyway.) Engine head gasket failed within 3 months and dealer botched the repair. I complained to Hyundai Canada and the engine was taken apart a second time, repair done correctly but the engine pinged after that, meaning that the compression ratio had been altered in the repair. Mirrors froze but I fixed the controller myself with WD40. Radio died, I upgraded it. Brakes vibrated but I fixed it myself with custom rotors rather than fight the dealer. Finally, dealer went under and disappeared. A month after the warranty expired, so did my steering rack. 25,000 miles on the car in 5 years and the rack blew. My mechanic put a new one for $1,700 in and that lasted 3 months. Extensive research on the net in chat groups and I found blown racks a common problem in the model. And the replacements fail because, allegedly, they are stored outdoors in Korea and the seals dry out. I sued Hyundai in Small Claims. Did they send a lawyer? No. Did they try to settle or fix the car? No. They sent the head of the central (head office) Parts Dept. who lied under oath to the judge about my attempts to resolve the issue. I won, but got rid of the car. Trade in for a 5-year old 2005 Elantra GT with 25000 miles, new brakes, new Michelins, upgraded radio, and needing a rack? $3,000. (Paid $20,000 five years earlier). Ugh.
I have had nothing but problems from Hyundai since I bought my SUV in December 2017. Blue Link is a joke. BTW there is no one at Corporate Headquarters over Blue Link. Customers are subjected to whatever decisions are made concerning problems by whichever Supervisor is working that day. NO ONE ever owns the problem. NEVER give this company access to any of your bank accounts. They will charge what they please. THE WHOLE HYUNDAI CORPORATION is a joke!!! They changed policy about making one time payments WITHOUT ANY notice to the customer. I changed from electronic bills to paper bills so I can mail my payment in to them rather than pay a fee from Western Union to make a one time payment. Since they are NOT trustworthy on having access to your checking account, I will not give them the ability to access my account!!! I detest this company!!!
Just received my 10th recall on this piece of junk. And I expect more. I was actually given a phoney long-winded dissertation of the recall by the east coast Hyundai regional representative who called me to placate me after the 9th recall. He said sometimes the robots do get it wrong. Wtf kind of response is that? Hyundai should declare this car a lemon and offer some kind of compensation to us victims of their horrendous quality control issues.
On Oct 24th 2018 I activated my Blue Link via a dealer. I was given 3 months test of the system on my 2014 Equus. The next day I tried to use the system but it was not active. I called the service and told me 24 to 48 hours to get to my system. After the 48 hour mark the system still not activated. I called again on the 25th then the 26th still not activated. I was instructed to drive around to see of it would help, but nothing. When I called again on the 27th they apologized for the inconvenience but nothing they could do till a day or more passed. Upon calling on the 28th still not activated. Called again on the 29th and they apologized and gave me an extra month free to try the service. I was told it should be up any time. By end of day on the 29th still not working. On the 30th of Oct, I was told my service could not be started till the previous owner service was deactivated as I was told it was not fully deactivated in their name. They would need to deactivate my account and the original owners account before my service could work. After an hour on the line I was told they would call within 2 hours to let me know it was complete and my service turned on. I called after 3 hours and was told my account was cancelled and would need to be charged 279.00 to turn it on as I cancelled my trial. I was livid as I explained that the tech cancelled my service not me, and I wanted my service trial back because it was never turned on. Going back and forth they told me nothing could be done and we went around for an hour plus. No matter what I told them I would not get my service trial back. They directed me to call another number to complain, when calling the other number was told it was not a complaint line but another Blue Link center. I was lied to and cheated out of my service trial and fully pissed off they did this to me. Ive never been treated so badly by a company in my 50 years of life on this planet. Being lied to, is appalling by anyone. This company could care less about customer service. I was never disrespectful toward anyone on the phone, just in case you wondered. I was upset but not overly. I was so upset and confused by their actions. They never offered me a solution. Horrible in my eyes.
My husband is a full time Uber driver & his income is extremely important for us because with my part time job we can’t afford to pay the our bills. Everything was quite good since he drove Hyundai Ioniq hybrid 2017 which helped us a lot to spend less on fuel but one day suddenly the car stopped without any warning sign and the Hyundai Kitchener towed it and we were advised that it’s a recall for Hybrid system so we thought it will take a week or two but omg it has been 4 months we didn’t get our car back! Since this car was everything for us and my husband couldn’t do Uber with a rental car it has been 4 minutes we lost the income. He called thousand times for help & complain about the service to Hyundai Canada but they didn’t give a **, instead we were insulted that you should know the rules. We can’t do anything! We talked with a lawyer to sue the company for the income loss but the lawyer said these giant companies are protected by law we can’t help you. Seriously??We bought this brand new car so expensive to face this day? We are facing a lot of problems and the loss of income for four months for a middle class family is the worst thing.. I’m writing this only to inform you people be very careful before purchasing any car from Hyundai, they don’t value their customers and treat you like **.. now I’m not gonna stop this complain and will even call some tv channels to show the reality of this company because the money we bought this car that was our ten years saving and lost everything. I have had my car serviced regularly. I decided to get the oil changed at 5000 miles but went over. However, before that can happen the car starting running rough. Check the oil dipstick, there was no oil in the car. No leaks! Howd this happen?
I bought a used 2010 Hyundai Accent with 31,000 miles from a Columbus used car lot. I wanted to get the car certified so that I could reinstate the 100,000/10 year powertrain warranty. I called the Hyundai corporate headquarters in Arizona, and was told by a long-time, highly experienced customer service rep that all I had to do was take the car to any Hyundai dealership, pay a fee, and they would perform the 150-point inspection required to certify me car. I made it abundantly clear that the car was not bought from a Hyundai dealership. I called four different Hyundai dealerships in Columbus/Newark, Ohio and spoke with an unparalleled collection of rude and ignorant idiots, who all provided different interpretations of the Hyundai warranty, although all sold that brand for a living. Four hours later, I received a frantic call from a young man who identified himself as a Hyundai Case Manager. Apparently he had reviewed the voice tape of my conversation with the corporate customer service rep, and was calling to tell me that the rep did not understand the pre-certification procedure, and that Hyundai could not and would not certify my vehicle. Next I called the Hyundai dealership in Heath, OH about repairing a plastic bumper cover that had already cracked in the bitter cold we have been experiencing (in my garage). I was told very rudely that the Hyundai Bumper-to-Bumper warranty does not include bumpers!! I have had the car three weeks, and this is my experience with Hyundai. By the way, this is a car that was rated at 40 miles/gallon highway in 2010 which, after testing, was shown to get 32 mpg at best. NEVER DEAL WITH HYUNDAI.
Had no knowledge of the Azera when I first saw the car but after a test drive comparison with the Sonata it seemed more substantial and luxurious. I have leased over eight cars in my lifetime but the Azera limited was the first that I purchased at the end of a lease. The Azera limited had many factory installed options and safety features that were standard along with the Hyundai warranty made the Azera limited the obvious choice.
In April 2018, 11 months after purchasing a new Hyundai Tucson, the transmission began hesitating and shuddering. I complained at Weimer Hyundai and was told to read the owner’s manual and watch some videos on YouTube. These did not address the issue but I was told repeatedly that was how that particular transmission behaved. Then between Jan 25 and Feb 5, 2019, I had 4 service appointments at Weimer to address 4 issues. The continuing transmission hesitation and shuddering now with skyrocketing RPMs, the AEB dash light and alert dings continuously going off, 20+second hesitation upon takeoff and when attempting to increase speed after slowing down or in stop and go traffic, and the driver door lock button malfunctioning. Nothing was repaired.I opened a complaint with Hyundai Customer Service and was told to take it to Jenkins Hyundai. After waiting for 3 weeks for a service appointment opening, on Mar 11, I was told it could be a safety issue if the AEB were in a crash/near crash situation and didn’t operate as designed. I was told a 2 different wiring harnesses were being ordered and that it should be in for the repair within the week and I would have a loaner car. They would call when the parts came in. After not hearing anything for several days, I talked to Hyundai Customer Service about the lemon law buyback. They said it would take 30 days to reach a decision. Finally they sent an email saying they would not do a buyback. Finally on April 8, my wife went to Jenkins and spoke with a sales manager who said he would call her back that afternoon with an update. He did not call. On April 9, my wife returned to Jenkins and spoke to a service manager who told her the wiring harnesses were on back order. He said a serious issue had also affected massive numbers of Subaru’s and that because of that all the mechanic appointments and loaner vehicles were booked for at least 4-6 weeks out. He said he would contact Hyundai Customer Service, a couple of dealerships 90+ minutes away and his own staff and prepare a plan. From this point he wanted to handle everything via email to create a paper trail. He said he would have everything ready by noon on April 10 and would call with the plan. Instead, he emailed a request for videos of the issues. By April 11, the A/C had stopped functioning properly and by April 12 even the date and time were not displaying on the dash or radio screen. My wife submitted all this information and several videos to them. DON’T buy a HYUNDAI!
I purchased three Hyundai vehicles in less than 12 months. The third vehicle I purchased was the 2013 Hyundai Tucson. This vehicle has went to the shop for repairs from July to Today, September 16 for transmission problems. After replacing the transmission on August 13th, I had to tow it to dealer because I broke down on Sunday, September 14, 2014. This was the 4th visit to the dealer since the initial complaint in July. Wow to my surprise I was told at Hyundai Plaza Mall Service that it was the driving of the vehicle that made the axle jump out of the transmission. I or someone was throwing the vehicle in park, reverse without coming to a stop. I cant figure out if that was my driving behavior. Why did not this occur on the other cars I had bought from there? I give their service a thumbs down and I have definitely lost all trust in the Hyundai brand.
Please be super careful when leasing a Hyundai. Hyundai Finance, at the time of return of the vehicle, will most likely charge you a large (return) disposition fee, perhaps as high as $400.00. If your tires are worn (this is beyond the excess wear and tear charge of $.20 a mile), they will charge you $195.00 per tire (far greater than a Walmart retail price and even the retail price at a Hyundai dealer). So you will essentially be buying new tires for the next owner. Good luck with your new Hyundai.
In Europe Hyundai offer a 5 year, unlimited mileage warranty, with Hyundai Assistance (Call us for anything you need. Even if it a tyre with low pressure, is the sales pitch). Last Sunday I called them and told them that my left headlamp was not working on my 2 year 10 month old Hyundai. Additionally it was a Sunday and I needed to drive the car at night. They sent a mechanic, but alas, he did not have a lamp (!!!). I took the car to the garage the following day and despite all the issues, they charged 60 euro (approx 78 USD) for a lamp claiming that warranty does not cover the lamps. Lol...
I have been a Hyundai customer for many years. Fortunately, I have only had to call for roadside assistance a couple of times. They were courteous and prompt. Even when I had some personal technical difficulties, they were patient and understanding. They did follow up calls to make sure that the service was satisfactory and complete. Very organized and very professional.
I bought the car in November of 2010, and its been a bad experience since having thought of buying the new car from Hyundai. My car has been taken four times for A/C problems to Hyundai, but still the same problem persists. Secondly, the car is has started to get rusty within nine months time, and there was no one from Hyundai to talk to with authority.
My wife got scammed on a lease at a disgraceful Hyundai dealership in Gurnee, IL (avoid at ALL COSTS). She ending up overpaying by $7,000 on a Kona for no reason. The Kona which she was going to buy outright until they convinced her to lease, should have been $24,445. Its on Hyundais website. She ended up paying over $32,000 before tax on the lease. We complained to Hyundai customer service, but were told that there was nothing they would do to help. As such, we will never be buying a Hyundai again and will be recommending to our friends and family the they avoid them also. Although its not Hyundais fault that my wife got scammed, if they are allowing scammers to sell their product then they are culpable. It is a shame because we previously had a Hyundai and had been happy with it. If they are unwilling to help their customers however then we are unwilling to be their customers.
I leased a 2017 Hyundai Azera, and because I liked the car so much I purchased it in 2020 at the end of the lease with only 19,200 miles on it. On 9/9/20, my car would not start. I brought it to the dealership and was told the battery was fine. A week later, my car would not start and I brought it back to service. A week later and for the third week in a row, my car would not start. The car was in service for five days. 2.5 weeks later, my car would not start. It was in service for four weeks. Two days after picking the car up from service, the car would not start. It went back to service for the fifth time in four months, and was there for 45 days. Five days after picking the car up from service, the car would not start. It is now back in service for the SIXTH TIME in five months.It has been in service for almost 90 days and counting since September, with no answers in sight. I am working with Hyundai Consumer Affairs, but am not getting any answers or help - all while still paying for the car that has not even been in my possession for three months. When I have had it, I had to jump start it 100% of the time I needed to go somewhere.
I was driving along a straight road 4 weeks ago when there was a sharp crack. A hairline crack appeared down the plastic decal of the climate control system and the audio system. When I took the car to the dealer they stated that it was a scratch and not a crack and the manufacturers have refused to repair it under the Warranty (there is a 5 year Warranty on this car). I am a 74 year old lady so there are no children in this car to cause a scratch - it is very definitely a crack, but the dealer says it is not. I feel as if I am now in limbo with this.
I purchased a new 2009 Hyundai Sonata GLS with a manual transmission about two or three years ago. I considered it to offer the most value for the price back then compared to an Accord, Camry, and other models. Unfortunately, I believe I made a mistake with this purchase. I wrote about my problems with this car on this forum before. Now, its time for a brief update.The power locks stopped working intermittently. This was a result of an electrical problem in the drivers side door panel. Thats not something that should happen in a car that is less than 3 years old. Another issue is that the iPod charger does not charge properly either, so sometimes my iPod has no battery power left even if it was charging while the car was on. The clutch master cylinder also has been replaced twice: once at about 12,000 miles and again at about 35,000 miles. The car has 40,000 miles on it now. Both times, the master cylinder was replaced free of charge. However, when I was getting a routine oil change about two weeks ago, the Hyundai technicians said that I needed a brand new clutch. Incredulous, I went home and found the maintenance records for the master cylinder because it had already been replaced twice. I went back to the local Hyundai dealer the next day and showed them these records and they said this had nothing to do with replacing the entire clutch and that it would not be covered under warranty. I asked why not and he said that the clutch was only covered by a 12-month/12,000 mile warranty because it was a consumable part.” He also said that the clutch can go out at 15,000 miles or 60,000 miles--depending on how you drive the car. Of course, Ive only driven cars with manual transmissions, so I know how to drive them. Ive driven cars that are much older than this one that have never had clutch problems, including an 11-year old Daewoo. But my Sonata made a rattling sound when it was idling and the gear shifts were not smooth. Now I know why. Anyway, after shelling out $1900, the car runs much better. But Im tired of dealing with maintenance issues with this car. I really want to like my Sonata, but I can no longer trust it. I think I would have been better served by paying the extra $1500 for a brand new car from a competitor instead of wasting my money and time being disappointed by a car that I really wanted to like that always seem to have a defective part or a part that is constructed of substandard quality. Theres not much dealership support and the parts dont seem particularly reliable. My wife had many problems with her 2007 Hyundai Accent as well, so I think Ive seen enough. We will not purchase another Hyundai.
In 2010 I leased a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. I had previously purchased a Hyundai and had decided to stay with the company because I feel customer loyalty goes a long way. In 2013 my lease was up, and I loved my first Sonata so much that I decided to lease another one! I went in a month before the lease ended to shop around. The sales person convinced me to participate in the pull ahead program. This program lets you terminate the lease early as long as you sign another lease. I was excited to be in a new car a month before I originally thought I would be! Although they didnt have exactly what I wanted, I left with a new lease that day. Fast forward to today, and Im still dealing with calls from debt collectors/Hyundais corporate office saying I owe payment for the last month on my previously leased car. Despite reassurance from the local dealership that I dont owe anything, the calls continue to come. Not only to my cell, but also to my work (Im an ICU RN). Getting notifications from my coworkers that I have a phone call from a debt collector is not only embarrassing and untrue, but it is distracting from my job! This whole ordeal has made it look like I dont pay my bills, bringing my character into question among my coworkers. Not to mention the stress it has caused my husband and I. We have spent so much of our time worrying about the possibility of this royal screw up by Hyundai ultimately affecting our credit, which we work very hard to keep in excellent standing. Im so frustrated with this that I just want to be done with Hyundai completely, but they refuse to work with me to get me out of my current lease! As much as I love my car I dont agree with the way they do business, and I feel taken advantage of and trapped. I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy!
I bought my 2011 Sonta in September 2011. From the very beginning I should have known something was not right. The car was fine but the people, sales people and financial staff leave something to be desired. My original quote was what I agreed upon but when they processed the paper work it appeared to have escalated in monthly payments amount of $80. I have been to the Fairfax Hyundai several times since then and have never walked away feeling as if I were taken care of or received what Hyundai says it would do with customer service.The last time I went in, the service person said that he would take care of me and ended up charging me for what should have been routine service and, they did a software upgrade recall that no one told me about. They charged me $400 and then, when I questioned the charges and showed them the work, they did they said they made a mistake but would not be able to refund the money and would give me a service credit. After a few calls to them and my credit card company, they refunded the amount to my account but did absolutely nothing to compensate me for the eventual charges I racked up due to their connivance.I now check regularly to see what the latest malady with this car just to make sure I am driving a somewhat safe vehicle. To be fair, the car has been great. It worked fine until I had to take it in to Fairfax Hyundai.The last incident my car just died on the road, really bad area for traffic. I had to call the police to run their lights to keep me from getting hit. Shout of to the City of Falls Church, VA and their police department. They were great. I have roadside assistance and they sent someone from Blairs towing (Alex) and he was great too. There was only a 20-30 minute waiting period. He towed my car to the dealership.Now, my wife had been talking to the service floor manager and he informed her that when I arrived I would get a loaner car. That never happened. She had to come pick me up from the shop. I am waiting to hear from them still now. They said they would call at 8 this morning. What can I do? I have no idea what to or how to take some sort of action that would make a significant impact on the way they service cars or people.
I have a 2006 Sonata and the paint is coming off in large flakes. I was told that it was defective by 3 separate body shops and Hyundai refuses to do anything about it. I now have to have the car repainted at my own expense.
Wifes auto started to act funny on way home from work as started to lose power and all lights on dash lit up. She was able to pull over to side of road and called me to come jump her as we thought the battery was dead as everything came on. We didnt recall anything about roadside assistance since it happened a short distance from home but thought that our regular mechanic could tow us and report what the problem was. He found out that the alternator was bad causing the battery to go dead and replaced the alternator from Hyundai in Rockford, IL. He gave me the old one as there was no aftermarket alternator available and thought the warranty would cover the cost since the car is less than three years old and only has 34,000 miles on it. We looked at all the paperwork in our box when we purchased the car and found we were covered by Hyundais warranty and had purchased a Titanium package or Advantage package as well that also covers things such as the alternator. I called the sales department to talk to the person who sold us the car but he no longer works at the dealership. I was directed to the service manager and sent attachments of the repairs and he talked to his representative who said he could not reimburse us for the repairs as he did not have the means to do that. The service manager gave us customers relations to contact and a case number was given: **. I talked to Shana the second time in customer relations but she would not discuss reimbursement nor answer or compromise about anything. I asked the cost of towing to the nearest Hyundai facility, hourly labor rate, cost of rental and cost of replacement of part as well as inconvenience on such a cold day/night but was not given any information except none of the repairs would be covered because a Hyundai dealership did not perform the repairs. I would imagine the cost of the repairs that I paid were far less than the expense written off by Hyundai, but they will not talk about any compromise or reimbursement. I guess I have to have a lawyer give me some assistance in this matter as I am disabled and on a fixed income so every penny is important to me.
I purchased a Hyundai Genesis Coupe from Parkway Hyundai (Wilmington) in 2014. I was informed by the salesmen that offered me the extended warranty that I would receive coverage for 100,000 miles. Not up to 100,00 miles, but good for 100,000 miles. Huge difference, as the car had nearly 50k miles on it already when it was purchased. I made it very clear to the salesman that I needed coverage for 100k miles. I would have purchased a brand new car, not a used Hyundai with only 50k mile warranty if this had been explained to me correctly, and now the dealership is leaving me out to dry with a car that is not drivable, a higher car payment than what I would have had with a brand new car, (because the warranty is factored into it), and they are feeding me a load of BS.I do not recommend ANYONE, even my worst enemy to purchase from Parkway Hyundai, and also the salesman by the name of Mitchell was very distant to me after I purchased the car. I would drive all the way to Wilmington from out of town and stop by to get an oil change and he would give me blank stares and would not even greet me. What kind of customer service is that? To be nice to me long enough to sell me a car and then treat me like chopped liver after the deal is done. I let that slide because he is a younger guy, I am probably the first he ever sold a car to and he is probably long gone now if he treated someone else the same way, but yeah, I am done with Parkway Hyundai for good either way. They can forget me or anyone I know ever purchasing a vehicle from them ever again.
I purchased a 2006 Hyundai Sonata in December 2010. A month later, the airbag light on the dash came on. I took it back and they re-set something. I drove off and about a mile down the road, the light came back on. I took it back and was told the problem was the PSGR seat cushion, and would cost $900.00 to fix. The warranty I bought did not cover this and the dealership would not fix it. I was not about to spend more money on this car, so I have just been driving with the light on. I started doing some research and found that there was a recall on 2006 Sonata for its airbag. I called and was told my 2006 was not part of that recall, yet its a 2006 Sonata; I dont get it.
I have a 2011 Hyundai Accent which I bought April 1st 2011. Since I bought it, I have had issues with the rubber around the outside of the windshield, which started coming off 2 months after I bought it. I have had to get it fixed twice. The first time they glued it back, it came off again. The second time, they replaced the whole piece. Now December 2011, it is coming off again! Im going on my third time. Then in August, I found out that it came misaligned from the factory and the dealers solution was to put a shim so they could go in and align it properly, that took 2 months to fix and now my tires are warped because of it! By the way, Im still waiting for new tires and it is now December! I spoke to the dealership in order to look at my options, because I no longer want this car. I dont want to deal with the hassle of repeated maintenance (its a brand new car!) and the solution to my lemon is to trade it in so they can squeeze more money out of me for a car that Ive had for 8 months! This was my first brand new car ever. How disappointing. My old 98 Ford Escort gave me less trouble than this. 5 times to get your brand new car fixed in the span of 8 months! What a mistake. Never again!
They repaired the throttle sensor on my 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe on 06-27-12. I did not notice that the hood latch did not work after until I went to have my battery checked the first part of 08/2012. At that time, I called them about it. The man, who was my service tech, did not say much. I took it to my dealer the last of August to have some work done. They told me that it would cost $119.00 to repair it. I feel that West Broad Hyundai of Richmond should repair or pay my dealer for the work. The latch cover on the inside of the car had to be taken off in order to open the hood. You now have to pull the wire to open the hood.
Who sells a $45,000 vehicle in Canada where you cannot lift the passenger wiper to clean snow or ice much yet prevent wiper damage in icy weather? I was told that in order to lift the wipers you have to turn on the wipers and turn them off when they are halfway up. Now not sure if you have tried to do that in an ice storm but it is not possible to move the wipers.
I am using a Hyundai (I-10) car, about 2 yrs old. It has a major defect since I bought the car. I sent it to the showroom many times where I bought it from. But my prob is not yet solved. Due to this problem, I am putting a case against your Hyundai company.
Hyundai Sonya 2011 - I got my daughter this car for graduate and have had nothing but trouble. I should have stuck with Toyota. Will know better next time. Have put two starter and now the steering column needs to be fix or she might lose her life driving it. I dont recommend this car at all.
On two occasions - 3 days apart - while braking to come to a stop, my 2008 Azera accelerated rapidly and only stopped when the car hit a pole and a curb. Damages were about $8,000. Only because of good luck, there was no personal injury. Police insisted that the car be checked by a registered mechanic. We returned to the dealer who replaced a faulty throttle position sensor - under warranty. Hyundai later claimed faulty TPS was not responsible for the uncontrolled acceleration. No other explanation was offered.
At Greenway Hyundai, had service advisor Darrell tell me that by turning on my car 1 time, he couldnt get my car to duplicate the hesitation in it starting. Ask me 3 times to explain what is going on with the car. He was making it seem I had NO issues with my car and that I didnt know what I was talking about or why I was even there. Called Hollar Hyundai to set an appointment to get my alternator replaced. Derek said they were booked, but would try at 2pm, but no guarantee they could touch it today, even if I got there, then said that since my mileage is close to the expiration of the warranty of 60,000 (actual miles then was 55,555) that the warranty may not cover it! I paid for a warranty and for them to say Im CLOSE to expiration that they may not cover to replace the alternator of $750.
I have the Hyundai Sonata 2011 that was manufactured in Alabama between Dec 11, 2009 and April 12, 2012 part of the recall campaign 132. Prior to this my Sonatas motor seized up and stopped work with only 60K miles and at that time the company did not want to honor the warranty and also gave me a very hard time about the loaner so much that I had to rent a car myself. I later contacted someone at the corporate office in CA and finally received a full refund. Now my motor goes out with no warranty at 154K miles. Send the car to my mechanic for repairs. Out of pocket 15.000+ only to find out that there was nothing left but to replace the motor according to my VIN number. My experience with this company since 2014 until now has been positive. Now this company has disappointed me greatly. One month ago I was told I could defer my car payments for up to 3 months. Two customer service agents informed me of this offer being available because of the COVID 19 outbreak and the job loss it caused. POLICY CHANGE PER HYUNDAI CORPORATE!! As of May 31, 2020 this policy has been changed without notice and definitely without consideration to millions of people still out of work. Hyundai Finance and Hyundai Customer Service will not defer any payments past May 31, 2020. If you call Assurance, they only help people who have loss their job not people on furlough. A billion dollar company just spit in their consumers faces.
Since I have had the car April 2015. I had to buy front brakes and rotors 3 weeks after the purchase for inspection. The dealer told me they dont have to replace the brakes for Pa. inspection. How can they sell a car with bad brakes. Also this car has an issue with the tire pressure sensor no matter what pressure you have. And now I am getting a fuel sensor error causing the check engine light to come on. I am scare that with the sensor for the fuel may cause issues with the fuel gauge and not knowing the amount of fuel you have such as reading 1/2 fuel and being empty. This needs to be addressed via Hyundai to repair this asap.
I made a huge mistake and got a Hyundai lease. That was the wroth experience in my life. I spent many hours on phone calls with Hyundai Moto Finance and they crushed my credit report. Very poor service and very unfriendly personal. Dont ever lease Hyundai cars.
I would like to state my utter disgust and anger at the horrible customer service I have received by Hyundai Consumer Affairs. The engine blew on my 2017 Hyundai Sonata over a week and a half ago. I had it towed to Bill Dube Hyundai in Wilmington, MA. I have been waiting ever since for someone, anyone, to give me answer as to when my car will be fixed.There has been absolutely no sense of urgency and zero care or consideration for me, the customer, who has been without a car for nearly 2 weeks. It is reprehensible that this much time has gone by and not a single person can even tell me WHEN I will get an answer. The case has even been escalated. But the person it was escalated to does not answer his phone and has a recording that he will call you back within 3-days. HOW IS THAT AN ESCALATION!!!!So now another week has gone by and Im without a car or answers. The person answering the 800 number at Consumer Affairs tells me hes going to send an alert message to Scott my case manager and if he doesnt get back to me today he should by Monday. This is the same response I got from the Bill Dube dealer last week. Well I waited until Monday, nobody called me and I still have no answers. When and if this ever comes to a conclusion I will certainly be sure to tell everyone I know and anyone who will listen to NEVER BUY A HYUNDAI. Hyundai does not back up their product or care about their customers. This is deplorable.
While driving down a busy highway, my engine went out. After having it towed to the local service department I was told it would be two weeks.. 8 weeks later my car is still not fixed and every week they tell me they dont have time to get to it. I can no longer afford a rental and I am in jeopardy of losing my job, I am to travel between three locations and can not possibly do that now. Today I received a recall on my engine, how are they just now sending me that??? I can not believe I am being treated so poorly. How is it that a company can sell you a piece of crap and then give you the run around on getting it fixed..
I have a 2002 Sante Fe. It was a recall because the back end rotted. I did not know about this, so I took it to my mechanic because the vehicle was not driving right. He called me to tell me that the back end was rotted. He called Hyundai to see if it would be covered under a warranty. They said it was a recall, so they would take care of it. I had it towed at my expense. I had asked if I could get vehicle on loan and they said they dont do that. It was not my fault that this happened, so why do I have to pay out of my pocket when it was a defect on Hyundai? It is going to cost me around $300 for a rental. This is bad customer service. Please let me know if this is the policy. I am being put out because of a problem that Hyundai caused. I am very upset about this. What can you do for me. Thanks for your time in this matter. I do not want to bad mouth your company for bad customer service.
I am Neeraj **. On 31st Dec 2018 I purchased a brand new Hyundai Verna car with 3 years of insurance including bumper to bumper insurance. My car number is **. I have purchased this car because of brand name, reliability and trust in Hyundai Cars. Last year on June 2019 I took the insurance claim because I had a minor accident with my car. I immediately sent my car to the Joshi Hyundai Agency (Chandigarh) for repairment. They changed few components i.e. driver side door, One Side mirror and re-painted the bumper (Front) and bonnet. Unfortunately, the vehicle has not been satisfactory because when I reached home, I saw the colour of bonnet and bumper (newly painted) was not matched with the entire car. Further, When I raised the complaint they accept and ask to leave the car for few more days. Though, I rely on my car for daily transportation but I have managed with them. After few days and during my next visit to Hyundai Service Centre for inspect/collect my car, I saw that the same problem was still there “colour mismatching”. I talked to them, but instead of listening and understanding me, they ignored me. That was Such a harassing moment for me. Even they denied for the bill and their comments were “We have solved your problem and there is no need to provide you the final invoice/bill. Please take this gate pass (attached for your ref.)”. After that, somehow I able to connect Company’s Concerned Person Mr. Gaurav ** (RPSH(NRO3)), He saw my car and agreed that yes, the problem is still there in color (i.e. colour mismatch problem).Then he requested me to visit the Mohali Branch Of Joshi Hyundai service centre and asked to leave my car for few days (According to him, there is no technical staff for painting of car at Chandigarh Branch). I have managed third time and left my car in agency in Jan 2020 To get the problem resoved. But, now this time i found several new problems that was unexpected. Instead of changing the colour of bumper and bonnet as required, they also changed the colour (repainted) of the left side back door and running board (left side) without my permission and moreover did not tell me, but was noticed by my own. I believe, prior information is right of customer/owner nowadays and your authorized service centres must be aware about it.Also, they break several locks (Rear Bumper) of my car. This is unbearable for a customer. Your company harrassed me several times along with unsatisfactory services which is against a consumer rights. After that I manage to contact Mr Manoj ** (National Customer Relation Head) over telephonic conversation and requested him to get my car done from some professional service center as Joshi Hyundai staff and Mr. Gaurav ** were unable to satisfied me. He assured me of problem redressal this time and requested personally to leave my car again to Joshi Hyundai Mohali Branch.As I had bad experience with Joshi Hyundai number of times, I requested him (Mr Manoj **) again to get it done from some other service center. But with assurance he requested me again to leave the car, I left my car 4th time at Joshi Hyundai Mohali Branch on 05 May 2020. This time they repainted only running board (left side) and replaced rear bumper (Whose locks were broken by them last time) and refused to repaint the mismatched parts. This was extreme now. Then on complaint, they (Mr Nittin **) have again requested for the car for repainting dated on 21st Jun 2020 but because of the lot of harassment, I did not visit. In last one and half year, I drive my car around 15000 Kms and it seems that this is 8-10 year old vehicle because of this colour issue. Either they don’t have the high quality paint facility or they get it one from 3rd party/vendor. You can see the paint quality and welding spots in attached pictures (for new painted doors).Hyundai is second largest manufacturer in Automobile sector after Maruti Suzuki in India. I have long been a customer of Hyundai Cars and considered that Hyundai is a high quality brand. But, I am damn sure that this kind of attitude/negligence will definitely destroy the biake my car back and refund my valuable money along with interest as I am not willing to regain anymore mental, financial and physical harassment.Neeraj
After having a 2016 Hyundai Veloster and having issues with oil consumption we are being told that due to sludge in the motor and supposedly we are needing a new motor that warranty will not cover a replacement and we are expected to be out of pocket $9400. This is absolutely ridiculous and was told by Consumer Affairs that there was no number for corporate who made the final decision to decline our case. Very unprofessional and no way to do business! This is the true definition of loophole! The car is still under the 100,000 or 10 year warranty!! I will be pursuing other resources and what I have to do about this! The ball was dropped and Hyundai doesnt care. They found a way out of doing the warranty work!
I was a Hyundai customer for almost 15 years. I really liked my 2015 Genesis and was looking to get another Hyundai potentially upon turning in my lease. The dealership I leased from called me constantly to bring my car in early and told me I could get a better lease. I went into the dealership and they had nothing to offer me for a better lease that was close to the car I had and in fact they were quoting me a $150/month more for a lesser vehicle! Even after I left the dealership without a deal the same dealership kept calling me to come in as if they didnt know that I had gone there already. Terrible service! On top of all that, I tried returning my lease after finding a better deal and service at a Mazda dealership. All the local dealerships refused to take my car in at first! Finally, after a variety of different calls I was able to get the closest dealer to take my car in. Such a ridiculous process that I would probably not lease another Hyundai again.
Under dealer Hyundai warranty...had to be replaced. They did not pay.... Still havent gotten money for repair or car rental....PLEASE STAY away from hyundai cars.... They arent customer reliable... Dont.
On vacation in middle of nowhere, the remote would not work, used key to get in, car alarm went off and did not stop until the fuse blew. I contacted Hyundai and was told even though I bought the remote start from the dealer and had them install it, Hyundai considers it an aftermarket part and I was responsible for the blown fuse and any other damage the remote starter would cause to the car. They have no idea what bumper-to-bumper warranty is.
I bought this Hyundai Elantra new from the dealer on 2014. It doesnt even have 47000 miles and the passenger door handle paint, which is rarely used, is already peeled off and according to the dealer the body paint is already out of warranty (yeah! And they claim to have the best warranty). I just looked over the Internet and it was a court dismisses peeling paint class action against Hyundai on 2017, I dont know the reason this was dismissed but evidently they continue doing this sloppy body paint in all their cars, this and many others complaints from the customers with zero acceptability from Hyundai have convinced me that this is a company I cannot trust so this is gonna be my last Hyundai car.
After having a HORRIBLE experience with the Hyundai of North Charleston Dealership in North Charleston, SC (See my review there also) my car was fixed after 3 WEEKS and I was left without having any vehicle for work. I am in sales and work in the field where an automobile is a NECESSITY! Thats why I bought NEW for dependability! My car was still under warranty and only needed a battery & starter (this took 3 weeks). I only had 39k miles.Hyundai customer care REFUSED to pay for a rental car for me and the dealership said NO loaners were available. I was only able to rent a car for 2 days and submitted paperwork for reimbursement and was only offered $150 for the rental when I had to pay almost $300 for the rental for 2 days on an economy size car! Hyundai would not even offer the FULL amount for my 2 DAY RENTAL! Wow! I was told that if I rented a car...Hyundai would reimburse me and turns out this was another MAJOR Letdown from this whole Hyundai ordeal!Its a very good thing (only 1 out of this whole story) that I was not able to rent a car for the 3 weeks...because I would have not gotten ALL my $$ back which would have been a DOUBLE loss of money $$ for me being out of work for 3 weeks AND not having received a FULL Rental car reimbursement! I totally feel disrespected and was treated like my business was of VERY LITTLE VALUE to them. This was my 2nd Hyundai purchase...but after this ordeal...I am DONE with Hyundai...the corporate office seems to be WORST than this dealership! Our 2011 Hyundai Veracruz is at the dealers now. Recalled item was handled previously and failed. However, they say they only fix once - so want us to pay $900+ to have same issue handled. Valve cover gasket allows oil to leak onto alternator, which then fails. Our car is STUCK in Hendersonville because we cant pay for the repair. On our 2011 Hyundai Veracruz: If there was a recall and it had been fixed correctly, the issue should be solved. It is not and the alternator has failed again. There seems to be a manufacturers defect and that is what should be fixed.
You get a lot with the car. My Tucson has a lot of safety features included. I have checked out other cars that those same features are extra. Lane detection, cross traffic detection. Power mirrors, heated seats, power seats, rear view mirror with several features. Power rear Tailgate, with foot activated feature.
All of the cars I had looked at were either too expensive or a piece of junk. When I finally came across the Hyundai, I took it. It was the best-looking one and was also a reasonable price. I purchased it from a private seller because I needed a car because I was moving away from home soon. I like the cars accelerator and it can take off fast. On the other hand, the breaks are bad and need improvement. You have to pump the brakes hard for the car to fully stop. It also keeps having problems with the headlight that it keeps going out and the power steering is always going awry. It also used to have very good gas mileage, but now it seems to eat its own gas. Also, the seats are not very comfortable and the stereo system could be much better sounding in terms of sound quality. I am looking to sell this car one day and buy a better one.
I must say that Hyundai of Metairie went out of their way to make things right. Mike Dugas not only fixed my car, but it was free of charge. One person in the service department dropped the ball and it had a domino effect. Just proves that businesses must have everyone on the same page to make things work. We spend so much money on our cars. They are a huge investment! Thank you, Mike and Hyundai of Metairie for fixing this.
After buying a 2017 Hyundai Sonata Sport in October of 2016, we noticed, at the first washing of the car that the clear coat was marred in several areas. We immediately reported it to the dealer. We took it in, he agreed that it was a defect, and sent us to several different body shops to see if anything could be done. We had it detailed (at our expense) and buffed but the marred finish was still visible. The dealer then advised us to call the manufacturing which we did. After months and months of runarounds from Hyundai Corporation, we are no closer to getting our car fixed. Their case managers dont return our calls when they say they are going to and every time we call them, we have to repeat our story countless times. Today we were informed there was NOTHING they could do. Sorry! We feel like their customer service is very poor and that stall you, hoping you will give up hope and go away. I will never buy a Hyundai again after this experience.
I was forced to sign a lease for 2012 Hyundai Elantra by Herb Chambers Hyundai of Auburn, promising a great deal and rebate. But they have put more than $3,000 above their MSRP of $21,495. They gave me no rebate. When questioned, they said this particular car doesnt have a rebate. But that car always remained in their specials page with all the other deals! They did all malpractices in the lease calculation and made me put a down of $530 - $2,000 cash and $3,300 trade-in. Still, they made my monthly installment $291.44 for 36 months with 12,000 miles per year.Their advertisement says MSRP $21,495, monthly installment $234 for $0 down! I paid $5,300 down but my installment is much higher than what their ad says. I contacted them many times with this but their response was so sarcastic and humiliating. The managing director asked me, Then why did you take the car? in a very sarcastic way. They even openly accepted that they put a higher MSRP purposefully and they do have the right from Hyundai to do so.I complained in Hyundai consumer affairs but they closed the case just listening to the dealer saying that they gave me a huge package of accessories which made the price difference. The accessories the dealer gave me did not cost beyond $1,000, but the lady who represented Hyundai was not willing to listen to me. She was in a hurry to close the case. I am trying to get justice in some or other way.
I bought my Hyundai Sonata in May 2011 and was happy, until on 15,000 mile service. My tires were rotated and I started to hear a noise. I went to the Hyundai service and told them about the noise. They called me about an hour after I left my car saying that the noise coming from the tires and the reason is lack of rotation. When I asked why lack of rotation will cause this problem, service manager told me that the way suspension set in my Sonata caused chopping of the rear wheels if they are not rotated each 5,000-7,500 miles.So Dear Hyundai! I did drive many other car brands and never was too strict about rotating the tires in time. It never made this type of terrible damage to the tires. I started to check online and realized that Im not alone! Digging a bit more, I understand now that one of the vectors for the rear wheels suspension alignment is static. This is the source of the issue!I contacted Hyundai customer affairs and asked to make exception and replace my 2 noisy tires now so I can drive my new car without this terrible noise. I said that I will not continue to complain about the strict rotation requirement and will do it as they advised in the service from now on. However, I also said that such exception tires handling should be communicated when they do the service or even when they sell the car. When I did my first, 7,500 miles service at Hyundai dealership, they did not offer me the rotation nor advised that I should do it and why it is important.Hyundai customer service answer was that I should not wait for service or Hyundai to tell me that I need to do a rotation but ask the service to make the rotation. Thank you for this advice! Im now on the list of unhappy Hyundai customers and probably will never go for another Hyundai nor let any of my friends to make the same mistake!
This car has been a lemon from the day I bought it. It is dangerous. It began when I first started using the cruise control. It does not shut off correctly somehow. It will start accelerating when I am trying to stop the car or slow down! The tac will go all the way to six! I have to fight the acceleration using the brake. Shortly after purchase, when started in neutral, it lurched forward without cause, and ran into a parking barrier, denting the front. When I took it to the dealership while still under warranty, they said they could not replicate the situation, and did nothing. I argued with them and they agreed that if this situation gets fixed, it should be under warranty. I insisted they put it in writing. So I have been driving this way for quite a while, but that isnt the worst part of this. Yesterday, Sept. 30, 2013, I was driving the car when it started belching yellowish smoke. I parked it and investigated. No gauges came on. No fluid anywhere. Not overheating. I turned it off and had it towed to the dealership. It still has the drive-train warranty. Today, they told me it needs a new engine. They said the oil was really dirty and unless I can prove proper maintenance, the warranty is null. They did no further investigation after looking at the oil and that the exhaust is burnt out, too, and needs replaced. The cost would be from $8000 to $12,000. I still owe $14,000 on the car! The oil had been changed about 10,000 miles ago, which is too long, but not a reason for the motor to crater! No gauge lights up, only symptom is smoking exhaust. It was running fine when I parked it except for the smoke. This doesnt make sense to me.I will not go into detail about the other small things that have broken or quit working, like the lights, under-carriage being flimsy, moon-roof sticking, the no brake lights recall, etc... I have made a claim to the company and they are working on it. If they dont resolve this, I will report it on every social media site I can find, not to mention the hundreds of coworkers and students I have that will hear about it. Dont buy Hyundai.
We received a new car warranty with 4 years remaining and a used car warranty which would replace the new car warranty for additional 10 years. We took our car to Merced Hyundai for servicing. They had serviced our car before. I said the engine was making a funny sound. I spoke to the technician who said that Hyundai and Kia engines had been having breakdowns. They begin to work on the car and suddenly they ran into some difficulties. Suddenly Hyundai wanted all kinds of paper work. This went for some time. I mentioned our warranties. Hyundai Corp. said they do have a new car and used car warranty. They could proceed with repairs with no cost to us. Then the nightmare began.Suddenly they couldnt find parts for our car. The mechanics have been wonderful. They have been looking everywhere. Hyundai Corp. seems like they could care less. At this date we are still waiting for parts to complete the repairs. We are senior citizens my wife is 74 and I am 78. We are on Social Security with part time jobs to make ends meet. Since Hyundai said they could not give us a loaner, we have had to rent a car for seven (7) weeks now. This is a small fortune to us. We have had to go into our savings account to pay for this. We are running out of money. We have talked to Hyundais customer complaint service. All they say is that they are working on it?? Lately, for the past two weeks they have not returned any of our calls for updates on our complaint. Regina seems to have disappeared.We are running out of money and need help. WE NEED OUR CAR!! As of this date, they are still waiting for parts to repair our car. Soon we will be forced to file for bankruptcy because we have to pay the $300 a week to rent a car....for no reason since Hyundai has turned their backs on us. We will have to give up our rental because there is no more money to pay for it....so, we will no longer be able to get to our jobs. Hyundais look great. But they are like a beautiful apple that is rotten inside. This is concerning a 2012 Hyundai Sonata SE Turbo. I have owned Hondas all my life, and have been extremely happy with their reliability. I had a Honda Civic that I sold at 115000 miles and the only maintenance I had to do was change the oil, muffler, and brakes. I then had an Acura RSX which I traded in with 92000 miles where I only had to change the oil and brakes. My next vehicle was a Honda Accord which I sold with 184000 miles on it. Again, the only maintenance I had to do was oil and brakes. I was going to purchase another Honda, but I fell in love with the styling and the horsepower of the Hyundai Sonata Turbo. I had reservations about purchasing a Hyundai because I remembered the poor quality of Hyundai vehicles throughout the 90s. I decided to take a leap of faith and buy a certified pre-owned which came with the 60k bumper to bumper and 100k powertrain warranty. I figured if Hyundai offered this type of warranty, they must build quality vehicles. My vehicle had 41k miles on it when I purchased it. I have had the car 2 years now and have had nothing but problems with it. The Carfax report showed this vehicle had the Lower control arms replaced (before I purchased it). Since I have purchased it I have had the following problems.46771 miles - Transmission Sensor failure caused the transmission to jump between 2nd and 4th gear and also cause the engine to shift very hard with a big thud. 48619 miles - The Engine failed and the motor long block was replaced. 48886 miles - Coolant was leaking. Replaced hose clamp. 49216 miles - Check engine light came on. Code p0076. Pin 1 was not connecting to solenoid so this was corrected.Somewhere around this time, I called Hyundai to complain about the poor quality of this vehicle. I was assigned to a specialist who was going to help assess why my vehicle was constantly in the repair shop. I do not recall his name. He called me to tell me he had spoken with the service Manager at AutoFair Hyundai in Manchester, NH where I purchased the vehicle. The specialist was unapologetic about my problems and treated me like I was wasting his time. In fact he ranks as possible the worst company representative I have dealt with in my lifetime. He said everything checked out and they did their due diligence with the vehicle. I informed the gentleman that I wanted a new vehicle. He scoffed at the notion. He stated that I had a warranty to cover anything wrong with the car. This was not satisfactory to me because my time was valuable and if the vehicle was malfunctioning at 46k miles, what would happen as the parts aged? The vehicle I purchased was clearly not manufactured properly. He basically told me again that the warranty was in place and that is all I would get. I informed the specialist that I am a recruiter who speaks with over 100 people per week and I would make sure to tell everyone about the poor quality and poor customer service that Hyundai provided. He said, thats fine and the call ended. Clearly this gentleman did not care about me or my situation and didnt care that Hyundai made a very poor quality vehicle.Continuing on with the repairs made to this vehicle. 51670 miles - Rattling when traveling in the city. Stabilizer end link replaced. 58285 creaking when turning. Axle joints replaced. This was all performed under warranty. It didnt cost me anything monetarily, but it did cost me a lot of time taking the car to the dealer and having to get rides to and from the dealership. Sometimes I waited for the vehicle if it was only going to be a couple hours.Since the warranty expired, I have had to replace the sway bar links at 74000 miles due to rattling when driving over bumps. The creaking that was supposed to be fixed by the replacement of the axle joints has gotten worse. I believe the strut mounts are the culprit. In addition, when I start the vehicle in the morning, the engine is having a bit of trouble turning over and is shaking for the first 10 seconds or so. Also, when I start the engine, there is a rush of liquid in the dashboard. I would venture to guess this is due to a failing heater core. Another issue is the transmission is downshifting into 4th gear very hard. The vehicle now has 80500 miles. It is acting like a vehicle with 180500 miles.More repairs at 80500 miles. Housing around the thermostat was replaced due to leaking coolant. Tube leading to oil filter was cracked and leaking oil. Engine head warped. Hyundai doesnt care about its customers. The warranty is bogus. The technicians diagnosing the issues at the dealerships have very little knowledge of the vehicles and take forever to diagnose issues - at the cost of $125 per hour. Beautiful design, very poor quality.
2013 Hyundai Sonata - Defective Steering Wheel Locking. Few weeks ago, my sister suffered a fatal accident caused by a defective Hyundai Sonata steering wheel locking while she was driving on the highway. As a result, she suffered a severe vertebrae injury, taken to a nearby hospital in an ambulance, hospitalized and treated for days, and has only recently started physical therapy. Medical bill and treatment costs till now well over $100K, even with health insurance. Inability to work for over 6 months. Immobility and discomfort. The list goes on and on. Anyone else in this unfortunate situation or has heard of similar accidents caused by a defective steering wheel? What do we do? What can we do?
I currently own this 2015 Sonata limited and have seen very little of it lately. I purchased this car in October 2015. After around seven months of ownership, my battery went dead. I called service. They jump the car and figured that was the end of the problem since it was a very cold morning. A few days later the same thing happened again. Called the service. They jump the car. This time I drove it to Star Hyundai service. The manager at that time, Mike told me that there was nothing wrong with the battery and they were not replacing it. This was after two hours of trying to diagnose the problem. He tell me if it happens again I should have the car towed in. That is exactly what I did a few days later. He still refused to admit that there was something wrong with the battery. I then contacted the dealer whom I bought the car from who put the screws to him and he finally changed the battery. I thought this was the end of the problem. Wrong! This problem has repeated itself several times over the last few months. I have had three new batteries since the original battery put in to this car. I only have around 16,000 miles on the car. After the issue had escalated I contacted their customer care department. I was given a case number and a really horrible case worker. He never answered his phone, was very slow to get back to me. Kyle **. They advertise great customer service. HORRIBLE!!! I was forced to hire a lemon law lawyer. My car is presently in the shop going on 26 days. They could not find the reason for the battery failure. Fortunately for me, I was given a loaner. Now I am just waiting to see what they are going to do as far as replacing the car or offering me a buyback. I certainly dont want a replacement. This was my first and my last Hyundai purchase.
Hi, I bought a used 2005 Elantra with 28 thousand miles on it in 2008. About a year later (approx. 38K mileage), the airbag light came on when a passenger was in the front seat. The dealer said it was a recall item and gave me a rental while the seat was sent off to Ca for repairs. Within a year, the airbag light was coming on again intermittently when a passenger was sitting in the front seat (mid 40K mileage). The dealer said their was nothing they could do about it without seeing the light on. So every now & then when the light was on I was sidetracked to the dealership, but the light would go out before reaching them. Finally, last year the light stayed on long enough for the dealer to see it on. Thats when I was told the light did not need to be on to report the problem, but now the warranty had expired and I would have to pay for the repair! I reminded them about telling me the light had to be on and they played dumb like they never said it. Well, after a complaint to the manager they agreed to fix it for free as a goodwill gesture. Here we are about a year later (57K miles) and the airbag light stays on most of the time now.I called Hyundai USA to see what should be done as I have lost faith in the dealership. I am afraid they will simply unplug the airbag and I would never know! Hyundai USA in Ca. said I need to take it to the dealer and pay for a car inspection before they could look into the case. What can I do about this safety issue? Do I have a legitimate case for legal action against Hyundai USA or the dealership? PS: all I want is to know that the front passenger airbag will work in the event of an accident.
2012 Hyundai Tucson. Bought my Hyundai late in 2012. My car has 86,000 miles on it (I commute for work) and the motor is shot. No noise. No lights. No warnings at all. I was traveling and engine light came on and thirty SECONDS later I was on the side of the road. I have had to argue through all of this with the dealer and Hyundai in order for my car to be repaired. I have (thankfully) kept all maintenance records through my mechanic. Needs new motor and there are none available because Sonatas were all recalled for the engine design issue. Same issue as the design flaw in mine but Hyundai gambled with lives and warranty that the engines wouldnt go until after warrantys were up. This has been a nightmare!!! They are telling me it is going to be 8 plus weeks before my vehicle is repaired. In the meantime the dealer has given a loaner car that is NOT comparable to my vehicle what so ever and it is the Sonata you know the one that has been recalled for motor!! Are you kidding me. Husband and I are speaking to a lawyer... Can you say CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT!!!
Hyundai has been a good car. My husband also bought a Hyundai after I got mine. I will probably get another one as my next car, too. Its very reliable and has had very little issues. I liked that it is safe and its not too big and not too small. It gets decent gas mileage. I liked how it looked. The trunk is quite big. It has a very good warranty. However, I wish the music system was better. Factory battery didnt last too long. I would like a back up camera and Bluetooth features to connect with my phone.
Lots of PEPS, cool styling, 5 star rated for survivability. What more could you ask. This is a 2017. My previous Tucson had over 224,000 miles when I traded in. I am 62. My older son is 62 1/2. My youngest so is 63. We all fit and ride comfortably. I live in Arizona and i actually get cold from the AC. Even when it is 115 degrees outside.
In July, I brought in my car (barely 2 years old) because the seat was tearing. The dealer said I would have to wait for a company rep to look at it. I called in August and got the line that they would call me back. I just called in September and got the same well call back answer.
I bought my 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT based on the reputation, look of the car and the estimated mileage. I had previously owned an all wheel drive car - the handling of which was fabulous but was unhappy with the mileage (20 city/25 highway). The Elantras estimated 27/37 mpg was worth giving up excellent handling. Initially my mileage was 23/28 with the Hyundai and so I waited a few months thinking the car needed to be broken in. Now, a year later, I am still only getting approximately 24mpg in the city and 29mpg on the highway. I complained to the service department in September and they agreed to test the mileage.Heres what happened at the test: I topped off the tank 1/4 mile from the dealer and delivered a filled-to-capacity tank. They then drove the car 40 miles and then refilled the tank with 1.089 gallons determining that my car gets 36.73 miles per gallon. Knowing that was impossible, I drove immediately to the same filling station and put an additional .615 gallons in the tank, topping it off. Obviously, their idea of topping it off and mine were very different. With the additional .615 gallons, the mileage would have been determined correctly at 23.52 which was just about what I have been getting. When I called and asked them about it, they couldnt understand my point and stood by their test. I contacted Hyundai Consumer Affairs who spoke to the dealership and determined that there was no more they could do at that point unless I wanted pay for a test at another dealership. I was unwilling to do that if the first test had already proven to MY satisfaction that the mileage I had been getting all along was all I was going to get and another dealer, when contacted, said they would just take the mileage reading from the cars gauge to determine mpg. The gauge always shows 2-3 mpg better than what I actually get and is still nowhere need their estimated 27/37. I knew Hyundai had been fined for overestimating mpg in the past and in fact have a program of reimbursement because so many people have complained about the misrepresentation of mpg so I actually thought that meant I could trust their estimated mpg because they would not want to be found lacking in that area again. However, that is clearly not the case. At this point I feel I have no recourse except to register my complaint and hope something can be done to my satisfaction.
On Jan. 21, 2014 I purchased a Certified Pre-owned 4 door, 2010 Hyundai Accent GLS from CarMax in Hickory, N.C. I was assured that this was a safe, reliable car, with great gas mileage. I took the car back twice within 3 days because of random noise under the hood but was told it was nothing to worry about. On Jan. 28, 2014 the car was totaled in a snow storm in Marion, N.C. while driving 40-50mph in a 70mph zone when I hit a truck that had already wrecked in my lane of traffic. I tried to slow down but the brakes locked up and I slid into the truck. I hit the truck so hard that it exploded my battery, computer, and radiator on impact and turned off. But NONE of the 6 airbags worked in my new certified pre-owned DEATH TRAP. My head bounced off of the steering wheel and then bounced back to the headrest. I suffered 3 torn ligaments in my neck, whiplash, etc. The foreign P.O.S was supposed to have 2 front, 2 side, and 2 overhead airbags and none worked. I couldve been hurt a lot worse or killed that day having no protection. The seat belt tightened so bad that I had bruising for over a week across my chest and stomach from the seat belt that felt like someone took a ball bat to me. If you have a death-wish, this is the perfect car to buy! CarMax and Hyundai passed the blame of course. CarMax said that it was the manufacturers fault and Hyundai said that it was because I failed to slow down! I asked for a copy of the black box reading results from Hyundais engineering analyzer at Hyundai Motor America in Fountain, Valley, CA and was told that the report was classified information that I could not see! The reading told the real story of why the non-working airbags almost killed me Im sure, but I was not allowed to see. Total BS! I have had to pay over $2500 for a car I drove 7 days. BEWARE! Dont BUY A HYUNDAI!
My 2017 Hyundai Elantra is not the worst but a long way from the best in its class. Performance is pretty good. Theres a lot of road noise that makes its way into the cabin and its been thru 2 batteries for some reason.
So I purchased a 2013 Hyundai Veloster with 34k on it. 7/12 my car started acting up losing power and I guess I would call it vibrating. The car only had 80k in miles on it. The dealership that I took the car to for service for the whole time the car ran said something about a #2 cylinder was bad and that they recommend doing the spark plugs too. I drove my car there daintily only on city streets, no highway, regular street speeds. According to the mechanic at hyundai after they did this the car would no longer hold combustion. Prior to this episode my car ran pretty good and was well maintained as well. Proper oil changes and maintenance as well however I did notice that it seemed to be going through more oil than usual and I had mentioned this to my service rep at Hyundai and he recommended that we start to monitor the oil consumption between oil changes and to start coming in every 1000 miles which I did. 7/7 I brought my car in to have the oil checked as it was just before the 1000 miles and I had plans to drive the car to little rock Arkansas so I wanted to make sure all was ok with my car as I always do before taking a trip in my car. So I barely make it back and the car started like get stuck in lower gear and make like a revving sound and but wasnt going any faster and the check engine light came on and was blinking and while blinking the car just didnt act right but if I turned the car off and then turned it back on the check engine light would stop blinking. It would stay on but it would stop blinking and the car would move. I got home and drove it directly to the dealership and left it there with them. I get back a car that had to be towed from the dealership and needs a motor. But because I am a second owner the engine is no longer under warranty and the motors have been discontinued so all I can really get is a used motor and the quote that I got from hyundai was 6500. Again all on me. Hyundai will not help in any manner. I am a handicapped individual who is now left carless and with no means to get any type of engine for the car. I said all this to say I am very very disappointed I thought I was buying a reliable car with a reliable name behind it but it doesnt seem for me that was the case. Im just screwed, paid something like 35,000 in car notes for a car that only ran for 3 yrs. If I only wanted a car to last for 3yrs I could have just gotten a cash car. I appealed to hyundai and was assigned a case manager by the name of Tyler who never talked personally to me. She would call and when I returned her call was placed right into voicemail then the only emails I got were the ones that said, We appreciate you contacting us and we will get back to you, and then when she finally responded it was to tell me that there was nothing that they were willing to do for me.
Hyundai Motor Finance sent us an unsolicited pre-approval. We were in the market for a new car, Hyundai vehicles had good ratings so we went to the Hyundai dealer. We should have known from the get go that something was fishy, they tried to change the rates/terms in the pre-approved letter, then the $2,500 discount magically disappeared from the final contract, they then said it did not apply to pre-approved offers, though it had been on the first contract they showed us. Our mistake - It was now 10 at night, we went ahead signed the papers and drove the car home. Problems started with the first payment that they claimed not to receive the paper check in the mail, then paying online was not an option, so we went to Western Union and sent them a payment. Second payment same issue. They seem to have real administrative problems processing and keeping track of paper checks. Third payment we sent in a double payment to cover the month ahead. 2 months later they processed the check, it bounced for NSF ($10 difference in our bank account). They repossessed the car with no warning, no contact, no opportunity to even know that the payment they took 2 months to process had now bounced.They took our car over 300 miles and 6 hours away to another state and gave us less than 10 days to reclaim the car (with hundreds in extra fees for towing and storage now applied). Every attempt to process paperwork with them was a waste of time. We spent over 12 hours on hold in a period of 3 days trying to resolve this, only to be cut off, transferred, or just plain left in limbo. One day we were on hold over 2 hours when it hit 5 PM, and we were disconnected because their office closed. We finally got one human on the phone who was willing to help us and would fax paperwork for us over to the dealer. It never arrived. The finance dept at the dealership was equally baffled and attempted to help us resolve the issues but Hyundai finance wouldnt ever cooperate with the dealers office.Of the limited number of days we had to reclaim our car, 4 of those days were weekend days which their office was closed. So we had 6 working days to try to resolve this with an office that we could never get through to except on a very few occasions (I think we actually got a human 3 times out of about 40-50 tries). No paperwork ever arrived at the dealer, they would not accept any paperwork that the dealer had on hand (it had to be their special forms). Our car was over 300 miles away in another state. We had the cash - but because of their convoluted procedures, and lack of help, and terrible staffing on their customer service lines - WE LOST OUR CAR!Where did our car end up? At a Hyundai dealer in Ohio that seems to have a car lot brimming with dozens of used Hyundais, less than one year old with low miles (like our car), that are for sale at almost the same price as when they were brand new, but with used car interest rates, with car loans offered by - you guessed it - Hyundai finance!We were out our $2,000 down payment, our $4,000 trade in, + 2 payments, and now with the extra fees Hyundai STILL wants an ADDITIONAL $3,500 from us for a car we had less than 4 months. Our credit is wrecked (the repo lowered our score over 120 points instantly). In hind sight - this seems like a terrible scam where they are selling the cars twice, the second time at higher interest rates at almost the same price as brand new, and racking up impossible fees, and unwilling to work with consumers to get their cars back.4 months with our Hyundai cost over $10,000 - not a bargain in anyones book. Their lack of customer service, inability to reach them, the stonewalling as we tried to get the money to them to reclaim our car - they just made it absolutely impossible. And sending our car over 300 miles away - how high do they have to make the hurdles? We live in a metropolitan area with plenty of auction lots where the car could have gone to, sending it 300 miles away was overkill, designed to make it even more difficult for us. The finance manager at the local dealer was left shaking his head. Apparently 300 miles is the MAXIMUM that they are allowed by law to take the car and they took it to the max (12 miles further according to MapQuest). Shady.
Previously owned a used Tiburon that lasted more than 10 yrs as a daily driver. Drove it on all kinds of road conditions - why I chose to get a Veloster. Fuel economy is great, handles the road great, plenty of cargo room, looks sporty, bought for a reasonable price. Everything a 63 yo woman could want!
I purchased a Hyundai Sonata 2014 and the motor went out after 7 month. I got 3 oil changes in the 7 months by certified car shops and it was under the warranty miles and Hyundai said they wont fix it and it was the customer myself who needed to fix it. They said for them to fix it, it will be 6000 dollars and on top of that I still have my car payments of 400 a month.
Purchased new 2009 Hyundai Azera Limited. Tired of being misrouted by the factory navigation system, I tried to order new map software from MapnSoft following the instructions in the Owners Manual. MapnSoft wrote back that the radio you have is manufactured by LG and the contract between Hyundai and LG ended 2 years ago... we do not have any update to offer and we do not foresee being able to provide an update in the near future. I called Hyundai Customer Service and was told they couldnt do anything and to see a Hyundai dealer because I bought the car from a dealer. (What in the world is wrong with that logic?) Ive seen similar complaints on the Azera forum from 2009 and 2010 Azera owners and I think its wrong for Hyundai to prematurely end the contract they had to keep their navigation systems up to date.
Although a 6 speed manual, 2 door car might not be everyones cup of tea, I really like this 3.8 L/350 HP coupe. It runs very easily in traffic and has plenty of capability when given a clear road to play on. I have had no significant complaints in the 42,000 miles I have driven it and Hyundai have covered every little issue that I have had. Warranty and service are great but gas consumption isnt!
My wife and I finance a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. We have three small children and this is our only means of transportation someday a because my car is a junk box and doesnt work all the time. Being that this is our only car my wife is very very much on top of it, she takes it for oil changes when and even before it is due. We had gotten a recall in regards to the steering column and decided that the dealer we normally use (formally Brad Benson Hyundai, now DCN) is inconvenient being that its so far away and thought we would get the same workmanship that we have received in the past if we brought it to a closer location. We were so wrong. First, after the first recall they did not have a loaner car, so we relied on friends and family for a day or so. After picking up the car from freehold Hyundai, we noticed the steering was looser than usual and it had a knocking noise when the wheel was being turned. We called back FREEHOLD Hyundai and they said there was nothing wrong, so in that same day we continued driving. For about the three hours we had the car the engine was giving out on us... Again something unusual that was not there before we brought it in. So I said forget this. Im bringing it back to where it just came from. We went to FREEHOLD Hyundai and told them we cant drive the car like this... The servicemen named Issac was a bit understanding but not very because he kept telling us the steering was absolutely fine. They hold the car and the next day or so they called us and told us that our engine had caught fire... So heres what it is. I gave them a perfectly working car, and bring it to this chop shop and I get it back and my steering is all screwed up and then my engine just catches fire?? Im sorry but I call **. They have terrible mechanics at this shop and I believe, I firmly believe that they screwed something up as far as the engine is concerned and used the cover up that the engine caught fire because they knew there was a class action lawsuit against Hyundai for having engines going on fire after a certain amount of time. We were told at first that our engine wasnt going to be fixed for a few months because they were on back order because so many car engines were catching fire. So they did the right thing and issued my wife and I a loaner car for the time being. A month had gone by and we gotten news that my 8 year old son would need open heart surgery. Then someone posted a negative review about them not having a loaner car and we magically get a call the next day or so that our engine had been replaced and that we have something of theirs, and they have something of ours and we NEEDED to go and get our car. Thats not all. After giving this dealership a chance to redeem itself by trying to contact the man in charge of vehicle service, they wanted us to pay 1000 dollars to get everything fixed. Oh I forgot to mention that the power lock button was broken off and my cruise control stopped working all by itself!!! Isnt that magical??? We brought it to our own mechanic and he said that its a bushing on the steering column and is about 500 dollars to replace to the labor it requires. We have been back and forth with Hyundai the corporation for an entire week, with no resolution... Absolutely no idea from anyone to get the work done to get my wife and I our car back. So our car went in for a recall repair in July/August and it is now Oct going into November and I still dont have a car or any way to fix this. The corporation isnt working with me and the dealer is refusing to acknowledge any wrongdoing on their part. So here we stand, a minor recall turns into a disaster. We have tree kids one of whom was in the hospital in Queens NY and we live in NJ and no car!!! And no help... So heres what youre gonna do... Youre gonna go search cars companies that have exquisite customer satisfaction... And stay as far away from this ** of a company as you can. DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT buy a car from this company and especially stay as far away from FREEHOLD NJ Hyundai dealership. Its terrible and they have terrible and inferior people working there.
I have Azera 2013 I like very much, it is nice car.... I recommend to buy Hyundai Azera it is much better then the Toyota Avalon, Nissan maxima, Accord and 350EL.
Purchased a Hyundai Kona in 2018, just over 30G miles while in Colorado the check engine light goes on (this is August 2020). Take the car to Boulder Hyundai, they have no real idea what is wrong with it, replace injectors, debris in engine, they dont know why.... Wont release car as it could be unsafe, all 4 pistons misfiring so bad that the steering wheel pulls aggressively to the right. Supposedly they fix it, I am told if check engine light comes back on, stop car immediately and have it towed in, as it is dangerous to drive. Well Sept 7th, check engine light comes on again, steering wheel pulling aggressively again due to misfiring. I stop, have car towed in. Nalley Hyundai has had my car since 9/8/20. Replaced everything again, still same problem, they are in no rush to help, they have had my car for OVER 6 weeks, no clue whats wrong, I am completely at their mercy! Still making payments on car I cannot drive, they refuse to take it back and make it right. So I am paying on a car I have not driven in over 6 weeks and there is nothing I can do about it! Dont buy a kona! Dont buy a hyundai! They dont care at all and you as the customer have no advocate!
Many issues from engine failure (they did replace the engine) to warped brake rotors (will not honor warranty to bad struts and noisy front suspension). Called Hyundai and their field reps are useless and Hyundai just does not care about individual customers - what they are concerned with is the perception that they have the best warranty and care about their customers - not the actual act of doing so. I have owned many brands of my 50 years, but never experienced anything like this.
I bought a 2010 Hyundai Sonata new. The first piece of plastic to break was the sunglasses holder. Then the cover for the mirror on the drivers side, the center console clip broke, 4 door handles. The last one I bought 1 month ago, and it broke today. I paid $154 for this one. My husband and I are retired so we are not rough on this vehicle.
My Hyundai is a great low maintenance car that has good gas mileage. The size is just right without being too big. The interior is spacious with cloth seats which are preferable in the hot south. Seating was still roomy and I also liked the storage space. It was in silver tone which was also better for this climate. I chose model based on consumer and technical reviews. The price was just right for my budget and it came with roof rack. The Hyundai models are much improved these days. I think Hyundai has come a long way in building reasonably priced and sound vehicles that are dependable.
My Hyundai Accent is less than two years old and has traveled only 14,000 kms. At my last service in May I advised the service center that a hole has appeared in my drivers side floor mat. I thought this was unusual due to the low kms and the fact that I mainly drive in bare feet not big boots. A claim was initiated and I was advised that it was denied as it was wear and tear. I could accept this if I had done a lot of kms in the vehicle however only 14,000 kms is not satisfactory. I have over the years owned a number of cars of various brands and travelled in excess of 200,000 kms in most with no similar problems. Is the construction of Hyundais so CHEAP AND NASTY that a carpet will wear out in such a short time. I had intended in keeping the vehicle but now think ILL REPLACE IT WITH ANYTHING OTHER THAN A HYUNDAI.
I was told that I would get towed within an hour. I called 2 times to see why they hadnt showed up. Each time they said it would be another hour. 3 1/2 hours later the tow truck arrived. He said that he just received the call. I asked if AAA would have been quicker, and he said yes that I would have gotten help right away.
I have had issues with the transmission not shifting properly when pressing on the accelerator. I have taken it back to the dealership several times and am always told that it is their new transmission and is normal. Finally, they said they had a reset they could do for it, this seemed to help for about a week. After this things got worse, it not only went back to the chugging with the transmission but also lost power when accelerating from a stopped position (like turning in front of oncoming traffic). I would pump the accelerator for it to finally go. I filed a claim with Hyundai, finally got a call from them and was told to take to dealership, of course they found nothing wrong, everything is working to “their” standard, and that it’s just their new transmissions. I said I had another vehicle (Not Hyundai) that has this type of transmission and it doesn’t do this, she said, Well. This is Hyundai Transmission. I am beyond Frustrated and Disappointed with Hyundai products and Customer Service! I will never buy Hyundai and will and have recommend everyone to NOT buy Hyundai!!!
