Positioned as an entry-level SUV in Volkswagen's lineup, the Taos provides a practical and stylish option for those seeking a compact crossover with everyday usability. Here are the key details about the 2023 Volkswagen Taos:

Engine and Performance: The 2023 Taos is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine that produces 158 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. It is available with either front-wheel drive (FWD) or Volkswagen's 4MOTION all-wheel-drive (AWD) system. The Taos offers a smooth and composed ride, with responsive handling that makes it easy to maneuver in urban environments.

Fuel Economy: The Taos is known for its fuel efficiency, with the FWD model achieving an estimated 28 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway. The AWD model offers slightly lower fuel economy, with estimates of around 25 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. These figures make the Taos one of the more fuel-efficient options in the subcompact SUV segment.

Higher trims offer an 8-inch touchscreen, a premium BeatsAudio sound system, wireless smartphone charging, and a 10.25-inch digital cockpit display. The Taos also offers multiple USB ports and available navigation to enhance convenience and connectivity.

Safety Features: The 2023 Taos includes several standard safety features, such as forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Additional available safety features include adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, automatic high beams, and a rearview camera with dynamic guidelines.

Cargo Space: The Taos provides a generous amount of cargo space for a subcompact SUV, with 27.9 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats. With the rear seats folded down, the cargo capacity expands to 65.9 cubic feet, making it one of the most spacious vehicles in its class. The flat load floor and wide rear opening make loading and unloading cargo easy.

Trims and Pricing: The 2023 Volkswagen Taos is available in three trims: S, SE, and SEL. The base S trim starts at around $24,000, offering a solid set of standard features. The mid-level SE trim adds more comfort and tech features, with pricing starting around $28,000. The top SEL trim, which includes more luxury and safety features, starts at approximately $32,000.

Exterior Design: The Taos has a bold and modern exterior design, featuring a distinctive front grille, sharp LED headlights, and available 19-inch alloy wheels. Its compact size and refined styling give it a sporty and youthful appearance, making it appealing to a wide range of buyers.

The 2023 Volkswagen Taos is a strong contender in the subcompact SUV segment, offering a blend of practicality, efficiency, and technology. I just bought my car (used) five months ago with +_ 52,000 miles on it. Great carfax, nothing wrong with the car. A little over a week ago, the timing chain slipped and destroyed the engine, causing thousands of dollars in repairs. I have contacted everyone I can think of for assistance with this issue; considering the car only has a little over 61,000 miles on it now. Volkswagen has offered no help with the problem whatsoever. Considering this is a defect in the manufacturing of the vehicle, I would think they would offer some assistance considering the amount of trouble they are in now with the TDI trouble they are in. I have owned three cars previously and never had such a horrible experience with them. I went with Volkswagen because I was under the impression they were a reliable and dependable car. They are far from that. Because of this issue, I now have a car loan for the next 5 years and no car to show for it. I have researched this issue and its not just me with the problem. Many other people have had the same issue before 100,000 miles on their VW as well. If you are considering this brand, DONT! They are of no help and have so many loopholes in their warranty so when something catastrophic happens, you wont be covered. There are so many other car brands out there. Go with someone else. VW is a HUGE disappointment in customer service and reliability. Hopefully, with the current lawsuit they have against them, they will go out of business so no one else has this problem.

I have had the worst customer service experience with VW. I bought a brand new 2013 Passat in March 2013. Since the first day I have had an issue with my car pulling heavily to the right. My car has been in for service 10 times over the last 3 years to try and resolve the issue. VW has done sub-frame shifts, replaced the control arm and tried numerous things but cannot fix it. They are refusing to help me resolve this issue. They do not truly stand for a Great Driving Experience - they really have zero interest in helping.

Until now I have always had good luck with the VW corrosion warranty. I recently submitted a claim that they have refused to cover. They are telling me that the damage is due to a factory installed molding and not covered by warranty. It is corroding from under the paint, causing it to bubble. They say that it should be covered under the 4 year paint warranty and not the 12 year corrosion warranty since there is no visible corrosion. I requested information, and they replied We would have to rely on the diagnosis determined by our dealerships. The dealership said they send the pictures in and do not make the decision. They will give me very little information about the denial and to the best of my knowledge the determination is being made by someone who has only seen cellphone pictures. It seems that VW has added plastic trim pieces in areas prone to rusting as an excuse to void their own warranty. I love the car, but it is very disappointing they will not stand behind their warranty. It is still one of the best warranties out there, but a warranty is only good if they are willing to stand behind it.

Lost my only remote and key for my Volkswagen 2010 Golf. Recently purchase this car and the Remote/key worked perfect. I lost the remote and Remote/key a couple of days ago. Went to the Bozzani Volkswagen in Covina California, and order a new Remote/key for $300 plus. The key was ready in 2 business days and my car was towed to the dealer so Remote/key can be programmed. The Remote/key was program by the dealer. The remote didnt worked, but the key was able to start the car. The dealer told me that most likely was a wiring problem and they need to run a diagnostics on the car. How can that be? If the original Remote/key worked just fine. Im getting ready to contact the dealer again and tell them that I cant pay for the diagnostics since seems that the problem is the way the programmed the key. They really need to take care of this issue. They are responsible since they programmed the Remote/key. I will update this review once I contact the dealer again and see what they are planning to do about this issue. If they take care of the issue I definitely will give them a good review.

Bought a brand new Volkswagen Beetle two months ago from West Cape Volkswagen. It was delivered with a fault on the sunroof and with the central locking function. Taken to the dealers workshop three times, each time failing to fix the problem and adding more problems. Now the headlights dont work either and I am unable to drive after dark or in bad weather. The car was also returned with a dent in the dash, for which the dealer is not accepting responsibility. They refuse to replace the vehicle, insisting on trying to fix it yet again. Took it to the nearest dealer today to get the lights fixed just so I can get by over the weekend. They couldnt assist. They advised me to call out the roadside assistance, which I did, only for them to pull up their shoulders in ignorance too. Over R300k spent on a car that is unsafe, not roadworthy and with several faults and damages caused by the dealership. Think twice about buying Volkswagen. What should have been the pleasure of a new car is now much more trouble than its worth. Volkswagen SA keeps referring me back to the dealer and refuses contact with their senior management.

After 6 years of being a loyal customer to Volkswagen, this is the thanks I get. I have a lease that is up Feb. 2016. November 2015 I was called into my dealer to trade out my car for a new lease. I explained I had fallen back on some payments, because I was out of work for a few months due to medical issues. I was making slow payments but doing my best. I had returned to work full-time and was ready to get the deal done with the new lease. They said Volkswagen, would not approve another lease because of slow payments. I was on-time every month for 51/2 years, and as you know real life happens sometimes. In any event the dealer said he was able to work out a deal and I should come in and sign papers. I arrived to the dealership at our scheduled time... waited 2 1/2 hrs. only to be told that there was an error. It was not approved and in fact Volkswagen credit wanted the dealer to confiscate my vehicle right there. They allowed me to leave yeah right gimmicks. I stepped outside and immediately called VW Credit to rectify the situation. They told me to make two payments and I would be up to date, or a least put back in the 30 mark. I agreed, I would go to Moneygram in the morning and get things squared away. Needless to say a few hours later my car was repossessed, from a friends private enclosed garage already suing which means I was followed to location lawsuit in effect. I only owed them $1,000. I had to pay $3200 to get my car back. Explain. Devils. My credit is now ruined, the vehicle is still due back in Feb. and I am assed out!! This is the second time they have screwed me over. I have bought them so much business I got 6 other family members to get a Volkswagen. So glad all leases are coming to an end. We will never support Volkswagen again. I will shout from the Mountain top!! Hate them all. Trust me lease or buy elsewhere!! Please believe me I have so many horror stories dealing with them!!

I worked with Ryan ** online and through text to get a deal set up due to the distance to the dealership. I was very clear that I was looking for a clean vehicle, and explained in detail about experiences at other dealerships that I did not want to happen again. Although really wouldnt budge on their internet price, we came to an agreement. I stressed my requirements of the car being clean, paint being in top condition. I was very clear that needed to know about any and all flaws before I made the drive, because it is a long drive and I would have a baby with me, and hoped to have paperwork and everything prepared as much as possible before I arrived. I was assured it was flawless, that everything would be ready. Upon arrival, the vehicle was not up to the expectation set by my conversations with the salesman. The rear bumper was not attached properly, visibly loose and not aligned. The paint was swirled badly and had many scuffs and scratches, all of which could be easily repaired with a simple buff and polish. Two of the tires had moderate sidewall damage. The drivers door handle was missing a plastic cover; the metal lock cylinder was exposed. The interior was barely clean; the tan leather seats were mildly dirty and wiped in the main visible areas only, any deeper investigation revealed dirt and grime. The driver’s seat had a poorly done tear repair that did not match the color, looking like a light coffee stain in about a 6 square area. I requested that these things be taken care of before purchase. They were only willing to attach the bumper properly and order the cover for the door handle. Moe ** was the sales manager throughout the process. He was somewhat passive aggressive and combative, as well as slightly condescending. There was a distinct feeling that my requests were ridiculous and that I was just trying to drive the price down. I was told multiple times that they could not go any lower or spend any money fixing the vehicle, even though I never once requested a price adjustment, simply asked that the expectation set during my communications with the salesman be upheld. In the end I purchased the vehicle because I like it, not because it was a good deal; I will still have to invest to have the paint mechanically corrected, the leather seat repaired and interior cleaned, and purchase two tires. The process took 4 hours, plus 3 hours of drive time. The dealership is very nice, Coffee, water and bagels are available. The parking area was not large enough for the volume of customers there. I was given my choice of nice VW keychains upon completing the paperwork.

I called to set up a payment on a Monday for the following Friday. The CSR even repeated the dates to me. The payment was put in for the next day instead of that Friday resulting in an overdraft with a fee. I called back on that Friday and explained what they had done and asked the CSR again if she was sure that they werent going to try to take the first payment out again before I set up a new one. She assured me that they would not so I went ahead and set up the payment again. Again, she was clueless because they did indeed try to now take out 2 payments! This caused another overdraft fee and a stop payment for the second payment. I called again and they stated that they needed a copy of my bank statement proving the $88.00 in fees so I faxed them the statement and called back 3 days later. The payment had not been processed and the CSR had to place me on hold for 10 minutes to go find the fax! He assured me that a check would go out to me that day. Well, that was 5 days ago so I called back today and another CSR manager apologized and stated that somehow it didnt get send to the correct department for approval so she would take care of it today. Very poor customer service to say the least and I wont be recommending them to others.

I had my VW Jetta for three years, the problem began when I wanted to purchase the vehicle I leased. It took 3 months of calling to get the payoff in writing. I would call VW Credit and sit on hold for at least 30 minutes, before someone would answer. If I could stay on hold that long, I work full-time, and my Mother had heart surgery, so time was not something I had a lot of. If and or when someone would answer, one of two things would happen. They would disconnect me or tell me they could not help me. Call the dealership. I call the dealership and they tell me to call VW Credit. Finally, I got the payoff, then the check engine light comes on. Guess what happened when I took it to the dealership, the same all over again. Ive been there three times with nothing in writing as to whats wrong with it. Plus an open recall that was not even addressed. I am saddened by the complete disconnect from VW. I have an appointment at a local Ford dealership, that has a former VW technician on staff to diagnose the problem. I really thought VW was a quality product, I never had this problem with a Ford.

Brian from Cardinal Way offered me $33K for an GTI Autobahn in black. I took a day off from work, hauled both my parents and myself and Uber to our destination. Once there it quickly turned into a circus. They dont have the car. Brian had car trouble of his own and was a no show. (He must own a VW.) Both the manager and another guy tried to get me to buy another trim which I declined. While they were tossing nonsense in the air, another dealer 10 miles away texted me for a better deal. I declined. Bridges burned. So we had to take Uber back home without the GTI. Not sure how these car dealers live with themselves but I do believe Karma is a **. Never owned a VW and Im happy to join the Boycott group.

2012 Volkswagen EOS - I purchased this car used in Daytona Beach near the end of April 2017. Around September 9, the automatic transmission started slipping and clunking into gear. I brought it into the Volkswagen dealership. They looked at the transmission and told me that the transmission fluid had metal shavings. Of course they didnt know why. And because it has 64,000 miles (warranty is 60,000) I would have to pay for a new transmission. For parts and labor, $7,100! I bought it for $12,000 and it only books for $11,000. I called Volkswagen headquarters and one question they asked was, “Is this your first Volkswagen?” Anyway they got back to me and said nothing we can do for you. Only 4,000 over warranty and nothing they can do? Im still fighting with them. This was my first and LAST Volkswagen.

Ive had my 2013 Tiguan for 3 years now (3 months out of warranty). I love the way it looks and drives. However, even though Ive kept up with VWs recommended service, I just paid $2500 for repairs that shouldnt be happening on a car with 45k miles (a new alternator, timing case cover gaskets, control arms replaced, carbon cleaning). Just two months ago, the fuel door wouldnt open. The dealer sanded it down, calling it a manufacturing flaw (which I still dont get since it worked for a bit over 3 years). What Im getting at is that this VW is needing way too many costly repairs for a 3 year old car. I was expecting to have this car for well over 100k miles in great condition but Im not sure its going to work out that way. They sold me on the idea of German engineering being so good, lol. Fool me once.

My car computer said the Convertible Top needed to be serviced. I hadnt used the top for about 6 months prior to the light coming on. I took it in to the local dealership and was told that one of the latches that hold the hard top on was not working well. They ordered the part and finally got them in 4 weeks later. They replaced the latches then called and told me that it still was not working and that there was a bent left hinge to the roof that was the problem. VW would only be able to fix this problem by replacing the entire roof for $9500. I created a case with VW USA and when they said that my car was 9000 miles out of the manufacturers warranty, but the car was still only 2.5 years old, and there was nothing they could do for me, I escalated an email to the CEO of VW USA. A department Assistant called me back, said they would send their field service manager for the region out to look at the car and get back to me. They would not give me any names of anyone that was looking at my car besides the dealership mechanics. They called back and would not help me with fixing the car. Essentially I was leasing a $20,000 car that had $10,000 of damage that I didnt cause and VW said, Oh well, cant help you. This was 4 months ago. Ive talked to several current and former VW mechanics and they all said that VW is the only shop that can fix the car. They did however share with me a tech-tip that shows a manufacturers issue with a grommet in the left side of the convertible top that can pop loose, causing the exact damage that Im experiencing with my convertible top. That was posted in April of 2013, and the dealership did not mention this or to my knowledge investigate it. I loved this car. Ive barely driven it over the last 8 months. Im so disappointed in VW for not only NOT rectifying such a strange mechanical problem, but expecting anyone to fix a car for the ridiculous amount of $10,000. The dealership was great and very helpful but I cant help but wonder if the hinge wasnt damaged by the dealership after the fact. The top still doesnt work and I have no resolution. BAD REPUTATION for VW. Every mechanic I spoke with said that VW are the toughest and most expensive cars to work on and they recommend to everyone not to be them. This is my first negative rating of anything, ever! I am so angry and truly disappointed that VW has chosen to not deal with this. Not that VW cares but I will never buy another VW and I will advise anyone I know to stay away from them as well.

I have had my leg cut open by the change compartment that sits very close to the door on the dashboard, it ripped open my leg on two occasions within a year. This is caused a dramatic amount of blood loss, a very deep laceration and several rides in the ambulance to the local medical facility. The edges on this compartment are seriously sharp. VW needs to make some changes. My husband is literally going to permanently secure this compartment that it is not accessible. I have owned this car since 2016 with 9k miles when I bought it and now I have 27k. I do not drive it a lot. This is most definitely a hazard and health issue! Please correct. My engine died on my car with only 73000 miles on it. I was told the balance shaft seized up with no reason why while I was driving it. Luckily I was not in an accident as my car just died in the middle of the intersection. When I called the VW headquarters, they said since it was out of warranty they would not financially assist in any way, despite the low miles and regular maintenance. The 2009 VW Tiguan has multiple issues and would not encourage anyone to ever buy this car, and at this point I am not sure I will ever buy another VW ever. Its unfortunate that they dont stand by their known vehicles that have obvious issues.

We returned our leased Volkswagen early as encouraged by their website saying you could return up to 90 days early on lease. The car had no damage except a missing key which we paid the dealer for. The mileage was half of that required by the lease term. A detail which we had not thought about as we had never leased a car before. We also paid a drop off charge as we were told would be required by 2 dealers we brought the car to--DEEL motors in Miami and Esserman Volkswagen in Doral. It was a substantial amount which we paid Esserman but thought that charge should have been revealed as part of the agreement when we leased the car. Now the charge collected by the dealer appears as unpaid on our credit report. We called Volkswagen who is telling us that they did not receive this money from the dealer and a year later WE need to go to the dealer and tell them they need to pay Volkswagen credit. The reason Volkswagen tells us is that the dealer is independent so THEY cant require the dealer to pay. When Esserman pays Volkswagen the charge will be removed from our credit report. We feel that we already paid the fee and since Volkswagen requires it, it is up to them to collect it.

In late 2008 my wife bought a 2004 Passat with a 1.8 turbo. All was good until about 70,000 miles then it all started to go bad. She had purchased the extended warranty so at first I was not worried and was under a false impression that the top end warranty package we paid dearly for will cover any issues we have with the masterpiece of German engineering. It started with the axles making a clicking noise when you were making a turn which being somewhat mechanically inclined I realized it would be the CV joints failing.I had my wife drop the car off at the dealer, well two and a half days later they call and let her know that due to the fact that the axle boots were torn and they where a wearable part that were not serviced regularly and it would not be covered under warranty. (So apparently you are supposed to pull axles every so often to change boots?) She inquired on the cost of replacement to be told it would cost $1100.00. I told her to call and tell them to do nothing and we will pick up the car. I was able to purchase the axles for $52.00 each and replace them in about 1 1/2 hours. So I ask, Where is $1100.00 justified? And how many people have been screwed by their VW service center? Problem 2 we had was the power windows, The driver side front and rear. Not at the same time but both had issues, The rear had a pin fall out which attached the window to the frame of the power mechanism. The front had plastic clips that broke which caused the window to fall into the door and at a later date the window motor failed. During this trip to the shop I inquired about the ignition coil recall, To my surprise they covered it all under warranty. Problem 3 was a temp sensor which caused the engine light to come on which once again to my surprise they covered under the warranty.Problem 4 was the engine oil pressure warning light and as you have read or will read in other complaints on this page due to the fact it is a used car with no paper work on servicing prior to my owning it I to am out of luck. Not to mention it took 3 days for them to get back to us. I myself use nothing but synthetic oil in all my vehicles and maintain them regularly. I was told by the dealer that the car has engine sludge and it would cost between $1500 and $7000 to make repairs. So once again I told my wife to not let them do anything to the car and have it towed to my in-laws house where he has a car lift in his shop.We pulled the suspension loose and back to access the oil pan and then pulled the pan. The pan and lower half of the motor was spotless except for what appeared to be a mixture of gasket and sealant particles built up around the oil pick up tube. That leads me to believe that the story of oil sludge is a crock of crap they came up with to cover their own ** due to faulty workmanship. We cleaned the pan and pulled the valve cover to check the top end and the results where the same, SPOTLESS, Imagine that. So anyone who is told they have sludge you should question the truth of that statement.Problem 5 was the instrument panel information center fading out on hot days to the point where you could not see any information displayed. At that time the driver side mirror glass had also fell out while driving on the freeway. I was so furious with the VW dealer that I did not want take it to them to see if they would deny repairs. My wife took it in and to my surprise once again they actually covered it. Oh, not the mirror it was not covered. Problem 6 as the mileage limit of 80,000 approached the check engine light came on again so I had my wife take it in. From this trip we received no explanation to why the light came on and where told it would be reset. However we did receive a list of items from their million point inspection or whatever they call it which totaled over $4000.00 and that the warranty would cover about a $1000.00 of it if we decided to have the work done. I requested an email of work to be done which was sent to me about a day after I requested it. Now for the problem with the quote, I apparently needed a new battery which would be ok but I had replaced it no more than 2 weeks prior to taking it in. The report stated I needed to have 2 of the coils replaced even though they had supposedly replaced them during a previous trip. What am I supposed to think about the rest of the list after reading about things that were recently replaced, Anyways the list went on and on more than I would like to explain. As of now the car is sitting in the driveway with a serious misfire and the code I pulled out of it was PO300. This is a random misfire code which does not give a fix for the problem it just gives a list of possible necessary repairs. If I will have to make all repairs on this list it could cost $1300,00 to $1800.00 which I will have to do, Due to the mileage expiration of the warranty. PLEASE DO NOT BUY A VW OF ANY KIND POST 1970. YOU WILL BE VERY SORRY!!!

I have had a rattle since June in my 2018 Atlas. It has been in 5 times for this problem. Now they say I need a new seat frame and they have no clue when it will be in. It could take a month or 5 months. You cannot even listen to the radio because the noise is so loud. I have taken with customer care service and they are useless. They refuse to replace the seat from another VW Atlas that is on the lot. I am sure they can do a temp repair of putting foam in the seat frame but they wont even do that. I would strongly recommend not buying a VW product due to their very poor customer service and the futility of getting repair parts.

For the first 3 years under warranty, my car had no problem at all. I bought my car in 2012 and its been 5 years now with 40,000 miles. The car is still smooth and its perfect. Nothing is leaking underneath the car. When I went today for my 40,000 service maintenance, they said theres a problem with my motor. Like the oil is leaking. I laughed inside and told myself, What the **? Hahaha.I remembered my friend who was a sale person in Volkswagen told me that, After your warranty dont go to Volkswagen. Theyre going to rip you off. I should of listened. But I told myself, Lets see. I asked the guy, Why is it leaking? The car is new... Its only 5 years. So is this mean Volkswagen is not GOOD at all? I mean, our Mazda, Honda are more than 10 years, and nothing ever leaked. The only repaired we had was the tires changed. I just think this is BS. The guy told me, not to wait longer because it will cost me more. The motor for motion is leaking and it will cost me $600. WTF?

After purchasing a brand new 2019 Atlas, it has been nothing but a nightmar
After purchasing a brand new 2019 Atlas, it has been nothing but a nightmare. From cylinders not firing, bad spark plugs, blaming us for putting bad gas in... Now on 3 visits, then a faulty battery which a corporate mechanic had to find. It has been nothing but a disaster! To top it all off, we want to get rid of this LEMON and that has become an even harder process. Not only does this car violate CA law for having multiple issues on a specific part of the car, my 3-year-old has been in the car with me on two separate occasions when it has decided to randomly shut off. VW corporate was not phased by this at all. When purchasing this vehicle, my husband and I turned in a perfectly good, special edition BMW and received this piece of crap! Instead of actually taking care of my family, VW corporate insists that they will only pay us for the difference of the BMW and car payments. Myself, my husband, and my sons life was in jeopardy while driving this car, but clearly empathizing with hard-working decent people is not in this business interest. My family has purchased from VW for over a decade, but that will not happen again. Not only are they not taking care of our needs while trying to split ties with their company, they sent a completely incompetent email to us with false options and that demand we send items to send to them? I am in the business sector and business is not conducted in such a fashion as this.I also want to point out that because the email was so poorly composed, I could press legal matters around the areas addressed. This is a very stern warning that if you are looking to purchase a family vehicle this is a horrific option. I am extremely disappointed with this company and cannot believe they claim to service everyone and will not accommodate those who have been experiencing issue after issue, two being highly dangerous, and do not know the meaning of taking care of loyal customers. Such a shame!!

Volkswagen Taiguan 2016 with push button start will drain the battery to zero by itself. I turned off the car by pushing the button and left the car parked in the daylight. At night the car automatically turned on the headlights and drained the battery. I was stranded the next morning and had to call roadside assist. This is the most stupid thing on the car. With only 175 miles I had to call assistance because the car turned on its own lights while parked. The tow truck driver said I was the fifth Taiguan he had jump started because of this problem. VW needs to correct this. If the driver touches the kill button twice, or bumps it while getting out of the car the ignition will go on after the engine is shut off and will eventually turn the lights on leaving you stranded. Never use Auto Lights on this car.

My five years old 2011 VW Tiguan had two major mechanical problems. One problem with the fuel injection was fixed for free because of the recall. Another problem was the antifreeze leak that would cost me more than $3K to fix. That made me decide to trade it in for the reliable Volvo. One week after giving away Tiguan, the second car made by VW Jetta Sport Wagon 2013 didnt start. The dealership diagnosed sensor problem that can be fixed for only $300. After few hours they call us back (probably thought they didnt ripped us off enough) and told us that the computer is broken and need to be replaced. It will be another $1600 + $300 for the sensor that might be broken or not. We are very scared to hear from those VW people tomorrow. The car is very expensive and in the hands of people we dont trust who keep finding wrong things with very costly parts. I already told my sad story everyone I know. At this point we used to have two new cars and ended up with nothing just because we shopped at VW. I hope people learn from our mistake and that VW manufacturing stop producing these very expensive but so below lowest quality cars.

I drive a GTI and have had the intake manifold fail three times in a row. Despite servicing the car according to plan, using official Volkswagen parts and mechanics, the customer care refuses to assist with a part that is obviously flawed. I have had to replace this intake manifold, a part that costs more than $1000, repeatedly, and have had no solution offered, and no offer to repair that vehicle. This part has failed after 20,000 miles each time. Obviously an issue with the engine and substandard parts used, still no help from customer service. I will not buy Volkswagen again and certainly not recommend them to others.

I bought a brand new 2007 VW Beetle six years ago in Huntsville, AL and I hate it. What do you hate about your Beetle? Heres a long list of why I hate this car: I bought the plastic seats. The sales man said the new, modern plastic fabric doesnt burn your buns and soak your pants with sweat in the summer. He said neither does the new, modern plastic fabric give your buns a bad case of frostbite in the winter. He told a bunch of big, fat lies about the new, modern plastic fabric. I have to sit on a towel as do my passengers. So embarrassing.Buttons started breaking within 2 months of purchase: lock buttons, window buttons, radio buttons. Within 3 months of purchase, water or something like it mysteriously appeared on the floor board on the driver side on two occasions during dry weather: once on the driver side in front of the front seat and once on the driver side in front of the rear seat. A towel got wet and my book bag got wet and caused my textbooks to mold. At least one headlight burns out every six months. The cost to have it replaced ranges from $60 to $80. The whole headlight assembly has to be removed to replace the light. Recently, both headlights burned out within two weeks. I realized it when I drove onto the interstate at night and couldnt see a thing. Scary. The lower front ball joints busted and had to be replaced. The overhead lining eventually came completely unglued. Have you ever come completely unglued? When it dropped down in the back, I had to pull off the road and cut it off with a pair of scissors so that I could see out the rear window. Now, the interior looks really ugly. Water started pouring out from under the front dash onto the passenger side floorboard whenever it rained. I had to take it in twice to get it fixed. If I open the back hatch when its raining or shortly after a rain, water that has collected around the rim of the hatch pours onto the back passenger seat. This may explain why cloth fabric wasnt an option for this car.Water collects in the spare tire well. I stored the owners manual there and it got soaked and covered with mold. The windshield wiper on the driver side skips and makes a loud, distracting noise. Ive tried expensive wipers, cheap wipers, VW wipers. They all skip and make an awful noise on the driver side on this windshield. Accelerating from a stop is choppy. The air conditioner doesnt get cold above 85 degrees and barely gets cold below 85 degrees. The matte coating on the door handles is peeling off as well as on the gearshift assembly. After all the water issues, the interior now smells moldy. So far, there has been one recall: to reposition a fuel supply line to prevent a fire. All the items that I listed above that required parts and labor, cost TIME or MONEY or LOST WAGES or all three to get fixed. Before you buy a VW Beetle, consider the consequences very, very, very carefully... If you bought a VW Beetle, do you hate it? If yes, why? If no, why not?

In addition to feeling robbed every time we took the car in for service, we have now been waiting since early last November for our settlement from the diesel gate thing. We were initially told that Volkswagen had 20 business days to review our paperwork. That took 3 months. Then we were told once we received our final offer it would only take a couple of days to get an appointment to do the buyback thing. The earliest appointment we can get is the end of March. Meanwhile, we get penalized for the mileage we put on the car (my wife is in sales so its considerably more than the 12,500 per year limit). I have many other complaints about the car, the company, and the dealership, but they echo so many other reviews here I wont bother. Before you purchase a Volkswagen please consider how ethically bankrupt the company is and ask yourself if you really want to do business with them.

I have a 2007 VW Jetta with 200,000 km. It has corrosion, to the point of holes in the metal, on all 4 wheel fenders, the rocker panel, and on the bottom of the drivers side door. When shopping for a vehicle I bought this car new and choose it over the Honda Civic. My fiances cousin currently has a 2004 Honda Civic with 300,000 km and absolutely no corrosion.VW Canada is not honoring the Corrosion Warranty because I cannot prove the corrosion was caused internally. They are claiming it is due to external factors, which is impossible to prove considering the location of the corrosion. When I called to request the claim be reassessed they refused to do so and VW Customer Care refused to let me speak with anyone that had the power to make the decision to have the corrosion claim reassessed.I definitely will not purchase another VW based on this experience and I would recommend to everyone I know as well that they consider other brands instead. Had VW honored the warranty I would feel differently, but they used an excuse to not honor it and apparently there is no way for me to speak to anyone involved in the decision. The VW Customer Care department is the only group you can speak to and they claim they have no power with these decisions and they are all final. Please note as well that this vehicle was bought and used in Alberta which is a very dry province where vehicle dont normally rust let alone corrode.

08/10/2019 Volkswagen and Audi Poor REVIEWS, 2 Volkswagen products experiences at early miles, 57,000 to 62.494 2012 Audi A4 and 2014 Volkswagen GTI, known problems by Volkswagen. I had a 2012 Audi A4 with engine light that would come on after 56,000 miles. I brought it in to 3 dealerships in Louisiana. They would tell me they didn’t understand because diagnostics says car is running smoothly. I told them, That’s fine if it’s running smoothly, but selling a car with an engine light is a loss for me, because who wants to buy a car with an engine light. They all said, It must be something intermittent. Lafayette, LA, Baton Rouge, LA, New Orleans, LA. I finally brought it to a dealership in Orlando Florida. I told them to impress me. Audi was good for a next car by fixing my issue. They said, Give us a few days to work on. I did. They charged $989. It was good for 2 months and light back on. Sold that vehicle. The problem was an intermittent overproduction of fuel that no one could fix for good.2014 Volkswagen GTI, guess what, light came on on this one at same mileage, 57,000 to 62,494. I read up on the engine light regarding P2015 code, which is an intake manifold problem, that Volkswagen recognized as a problem, but instead of recalling, they decided to extend warranty to 120,000 miles, but only as a lottery picking of VIN numbers, so if your VIN wasn’t on list, and you had the same problem, you had to pay for this poor quality intake manifold problem. They would clean if only cleaning, $1200. If it involved the worse case, it took changing manifold, of which that would be, needless to say, much more, mind you at 60,000 miles this expensive cost. So yeah, look forward to this much expenses at this early in the life of the vehicle. So one thing is knowing Volkswagen recognized the problem, but treated fix as only some would qualify for extended warranty, and if you experience problem and your VIN wasn’t on list you have to pay. You call Volkswagen Headquarters or customer care, because if there is a problem, and manufacturer is willing to work with you and understand extenuating circumstances, explaining you had two of their products, and they make things good and go the distance, then that’s good, because all you want is a fix/corrective action; however, when you speak to dealership and report to headquarters, and all they want to quote to you is that it’s out of their hands, that your car’s VIN # is not lucky enough to be on the list (lottery/pot luck), ... so you’re stuck with a young car with enormous expenses, after the expensive purchase was not long ago.Yes, bad vehicles of Volkswagen, 2012 Audi A4, and 2014 Volkswagen GTI, both at range of 56,000 to 62,494 miles, you are left up the creek without a paddle and large loss of money. One never was fixed and had to sell at lesser amount because of engine light no one could do anything about. The other is just extreme expense for cleaning or replacement of intake manifold that company recognizes problems, but handles whether warranty is extended or not based on whether your car’s VIN was included, like on a lottery. Thank you. Dwayne **.

I purchased a 2014 VW Jetta last year from the dealer. My first time in for service was recently. I was not impressed. I had some minor complaints about parts not working up to standard. Without getting long winded, the gist of the story is, everything seemed to be an issue and not under warranty for whatever reason, blah blah blah. I had owned a Mazda for years prior, and never had ANY issues with warranty work being done. Even the smallest complaint and they fixed it right up, no questions asked. I dont care how good they think their vehicles are. This resistance at the service counter will not deter me from a future purchase of a Volkswagen product.

Nothing but problems with the Tiguan. This car is a mechanical nightmare. 68,000 miles and the car is in need of such major repairs that far exceed the quickly plummeting value of $7000. Volkswagen of North America has offered NO recourse for this shameful product, and the experience has definitely hurt my overall finances in a way that has been beyond detrimental to this consumer and small business owner. Volkswagen should be avoided at all costs, unless you are one of these folks getting a new car every two years. I was looking for a car for 15-20 years, but I guess they dont build those anymore? Here is a list of what is wrong: All 4 coils replaced TWICE with VW OEM coils from dealership, still misfiring/pulling codes, Extensive carbon buildup in all the cylinders, 1st cylinder lost compression, Clockspring mechanism replaced under service warranty extension, EPC malfunctioning, Steering Control malfunctioning, Parking Brake malfunctioning, System running lean without a fix offered from manufacturer, Transmission timing not correct, told by Jim Ellis VW that it would require NEW TRANSMISSION at 62,000 miles (right outside of warranty) at a cost of $6000, Fuel pump replaced TWICE, Almost every light on the dash has lit up at some point.I purchased this car with 30,000 miles in April of 2017. I put $3000 down. There is NO reason a car should have this many issues in such a short window of time, for a young car, and the manufacture REFUSES to stand by their product or offer any reasonable assistance or buyback, as they did with my 2013 Jetta TDI Sportwagen. To compare, I drove my last vehicle for almost 20 years, with no devastatingly major repairs outside of normal maintenance. This used to be the norm for most manufacturers. The dealerships I have been to for service (Jim Ellis VW of Kennesaw, and Nalley VW of Alpharetta) have acted highly shady and outright dishonest multiple times in my attempts to rectify the problems, leading me to believe this a typical symptom of a broken VW culture within the separate organizations. BR Automotive Repair in Alpharetta is an amazingly honest and intelligent repair shop, and got the car drivable enough to trade it in, and advised me to RUN to trade it ASAP. I hate to even put this nightmare on another unwitting consumer, but I have to try to reduce my already considerable losses on this JUNK CAR. BUYER BEWARE!!!

We arent the only ones we have had issues with VW, our friends and people we know who own previously VW had the same experiences. 2014 Volkswagen CC Sport - Volkswagens are NOT Hyundais, Toyotas, Hondas or any Ford or GM product. They have a level of technology (as with most German engineered vehicles) that is beyond most other manufacturers. The DSG transmission, the direct injection fuel system, and the ram air turbocharger, allow the 2.0T to produce 200 hp while delivering 30+ MPH. The fit and finish of the interiors are superior to most price comparable vehicles. The handling, suspension and gearing, allow them to cruise at autobahn speed (if necessary) while still providing a quiet, comfortable ride, with good control.Amazing right? Now the not so amazing part. They require strict adherence to Volkswagens maintenance schedule. Volkswagen tends to use a lot of proprietary parts and special tools, $$ to do even routine maintenance. ANY direct injection engine with eventually build up carbon. You can prolong this by using only top tier fuel, only premium octane and throw in a can of Techron now and then. But they will need cleaning eventually (and that aint cheap). I have not had issues with the DSG transmissions in my last 2 VWs. I find it shifts very smoothly, very quickly and in manual shift mode, fun to drive. BUT, they need to be serviced every 30K and that can range from $300 to $500, depending on where you have it done.I love the super bright xenon lights, especially in the CC, which track the motion of the car and follow the road. BUT, those bulbs aint cheap, they run hot, and they do wear out quicker than regular halogen bulbs. So, if you choose to buy a Volkswagen, you are getting a superior, drivers car. A vehicle that is sophisticated, very well built and will perform the job as daily driver with no complaint. Also understand this car needs regular maintenance, quality parts and needs to be looked after. If youre on this site researching a particular car, understand that Volkswagen sells hundreds of thousands of cars that work just fine. Also, from what Ive read, a lot of these issues could have been avoided by good solid maintenance. Yeah, pay the dealership or VW specialist, these cars are NOT for backyard mechanics.

We purchased a brand new 2018 Tiguan and have had an horrible experience. The family almost died in a car accident because of the EPC faulty code. It happened 3 times and Volkswagen could not fix the issue. All of a sudden your car loses power and can’t go over 30mph, it shakes horribly and continues to lose power. The last time it happened (3rd time) we were merging onto a highway, the car shook and then lost power, with your foot to the floor the car will not go over 30mph. An 18wheeler truck almost slammed into the back of us, we had to swerve off the highway. Took it back to Volkswagen and they stated it was a faulty read and NOTHING Else was done! We are so shaken and have no trust in the car.I went directly to head office of Volkswagen and after 6 weeks of discussion they offered me a 10% discount off a new car! Are you kidding me??? 10% when it almost killed my family. I bought a new car so I would have no issue, but instead have had deadly issues. Looking online I see I am not alone. I guess Volkswagen does Nothing to keep their customers safe unless you die and then a class action lawsuit happens. Guess I should head up a class action lawsuit. DO NOT BUY THIS CAR. You will regret it. Stay away from a company who knows there are deadly issues yet does nothing about it!

I informed the service department that water pump was replaced due to a recall. They preceded to locate when the water pump had been replaced. The service department contact Volkswagen checking to see they would pay for repairs since the water pump was replaced due to the recall...Volkswagen would only pay half of the bill. I contacted Volkswagen, stating that evidently the water pumps are faulty if only after 14 months after installation the water pump requires replacement again. The representative that was helping me, advised she contacted someone at Volkswagen and that is all they would do. I told her again... after only 14 months and the water pump is being replaced again, that tells me that Volkswagen water pumps are faulty!

I bought a 2008 Volkswagen GTI less than 30 days ago. I noticed on the 2nd day the A/C and the 3rd gear was grinding. I notified the dealership. They said to bring the car in. On the 11th day of owning the vehicle, the car broke down. I notified the dealership that the car was not able to move and that it will need to be towed. They told me they would not pay for the tow and that if it had anything to do for the clutch, they wouldnt pay for that also. So I called my Roadside Assistance and towed the car to the nearest repair shop. They said there that the problem is in the transmission. The dealership still refuses to pay for the tow to their shop. I was also told by the service clerk that she spoke to the owner and he said that they would tow if it had to do with transmission or engine. But they have not done so. I have called and talked to the bank, and they have contacted the dealer. But still, nothing has happened. I call everyday, trying to talk to the owner or manager. And no phone calls have been returned. Theyre not honoring the warranty.

Unfortunately, in only about a month after a complete failure and replacement of the Turbocharger unit, an even more dramatic failure occurred. After an erratic idle, the vehicle EPC light came on, followed by a loud metallic noise coming from the engine. We immediately stopped the vehicle and arranged towing. According to the authorized Volkswagen service technician, the timing chain tensioner has completely failed and has caused a damage to the cylinder head. Total cost to replace cylinder head, timing chain, tensioner, parts, labor = more than $5,500.00.It is worth noting that we have been more than diligent in making sure that the vehicle has always been serviced according to the maintenance schedule. When we bought the vehicle new, we had purchased the extended 7-year premium warranty extension from Fidelity (which just expired earlier this year). After spending close to $2,000 out-of-pocket to repair the turbo unit, we are now faced with another $5,500+ bill. A quick search on the internet reveals that there are numerous early failures of the timing chain tensioner on the 2.0T engine, including lawsuits and a pending class-action investigation. It is almost not an overstatement to say that we have experienced nothing but grief with this vehicle. Everything from complete engine failure, turbocharger failure, all-wheel drive differential failure, fuel pump failure, air intake failure, throttle body failure, sunshade failure to a check engine light coming on every 6 months like clockwork, requiring random wild goose chase fixes such as clean up the air intake gum...VW has definitely a huge amount of responsibility here. It is obvious that all these failures are way above the average normal expectations that a car owner should have from a 2009 vehicle that has been serviced according to the schedule. Faulty parts, skipped due-diligence in design and test or whatever other reason, it is clear that VW has ONCE AGAIN proven to U.S. consumers that their products are of inferior quality and therefore their advertising is deceiving and misleading and their products overpriced. The case of the timing chain tensioner is a great example of how severe a failure can be. This goes beyond the scope of unnecessary burden or inconvenience. This a dangerous failure as when it happens it can result in complete immobilization of the vehicle causing a great threat to the safety of the driver, passengers and other vehicles on the road.

I surrendered my Volkswagen Jetta for the diesel recall on 1/18/17 and Volkswagen has not paid off my lender as of todays date. I continue to make my payments to keep my account current and preserve my credit, even though I have signed power of attorney over to Volkswagen. I am not making any progress with Volkswagen. Its a different story every time I call them. I need assistance please. I have every phone call and correspondence written down for verification. I have received my final offer, and Volkswagen has admitted over the phone they made a mistake on the payoff amount, even though they are supposed to contact my lender (Santander) to verify the payoff amount.

We leased a 2015 Tiguan R for three years and drove it across the US three times, with no issues. Once the lease ended, we purchased the car from Camelback VW in Scottsdale, AZ. Because we purchased it from them, they had to do a pre owned certified test, which was last July. Since then, we have had to back to them over 18 times because it keeps dying on us. For some reason they can’t figure it out. They have now fired us as a customer because we are a nuisance. Without fixing our car mind you! We love the car but wish someone would help us.

I dont usually do this because I believe in the good of others. But I am so disappointed with this company because of the length of time it has taken for you to report to the credit agencies that I no longer have a VW. It has been 3 plus years (March 2016) since I paid off the car in question and ever since I have tried to get a house the past few months have been hell because I have had to verify it every time someone checks my credit because your company didnt do what they were supposed to do when I turned in the car. Needless to say I will never be buying a car from you ever again.

I purchased a used (one owner) 2012 VW Eos less than a year ago and have put 12K miles on it. At my first oil change 4 months ago (apparently you can go 10K between changes) my husband noticed an oil leak. I took it to a VW dealer since it has a 60K powertrain warranty still in effect, who proceeds to tell me that my timing chain cover gasket is leaking and warranty does not cover it. I called corporate in Michigan who tells me that all gaskets are covered but I need a certified VW tech to diagnose my car. I proceed to tell him that it is at the dealer as we speak and they say it is not covered. The corporate office informs me that their techs are their eyes and ears and they have to believe them. So now my car, which has less than 44K miles with an oil leak is not covered and I need to pay the diagnosis fee plus parts and labor. They offer no loaner car and only provide transportation up to 10 miles (I live 20 miles away). I researched this car for 3 1/2 years before I purchased it and shopped at a VW dealer for this car but was turned away because the salesman thought I couldnt afford their precious base model EOS which is not what I wanted (I wanted the LUX model). I work very hard and I made $88K last year and have a credit score of 894 - dont tell me what I can and cannot afford! I wound up purchasing my car the same day from a Hyundai dealer less than a mile away and their service has been extraordinary! Because of VWs service and the way they talk to individuals is deplorable and because of this I will trade my car (that I love) for something I do not care for just to get the outstanding service that consumers truly deserve.

I went in because my car stopped in the middle of the road 5 times on a Friday. Volkswagen provided me a car for the weekend and then told me on that Monday which was October 9th that there was a recall on the fuel pump and module and that is why my car is stopping in the middle of the road. I called Tom Bush Volkswagen in Jacksonville on that Friday when my car stopped because I was in the middle of traffic and almost got hit. I was in tears and that is why the guy got me a car to drive for the weekend. They want me to pay $850.00 for parts that is not my fault. I dont have money for that and just recovering from Hurricane Irma. I do not have it. I am not mad at Tom Bush they tried everything to get my car fixed for the recall. I am more than frustrated with the Volkswagen company because I was told I have to pay for the parts and they know it’s a recall and then they will reimburse me. I feel in danger to drive my car and have not driven my car since then because it stops more than three times in traffic. I feel like Volkswagen should fix my car because they know it’s a recall. This is not my fault so why am I catching rides to and from work because I cant drive my car. This rating really deserves a zero. Volkswagen does not care about my safety or my familys safety when I have to try and drive a car that stops because of their faulty equipment. Something needs to be done and fast. Its now a month and I have no car to drive.

Extended Warranty. I purchased a 2010 Volkswagen Passat with an in-service date of 10-18-10 (warranty coverage begins). After being a loyal customer for 10 years, the company refuses to cover an P2015 Intake Manifold Runner Sensor Engine issue covered by an extended warranty if the vehicle is 120K miles or less and within the 10-year warranty. My engine light alerted me on 10-23-20. So, over the weekend I had the codes ran at AutoZone which identified the problem. On Monday 10-26-20 I called my local dealer and they informed me of the extended warranty stating I was merely 6 business days outside of the 10 year requirement but well under mileage at 92K. They suggested I call VW corporate to get this approved. I spoke with a very nice lady and then her boss and despite their professionalism, they refuse to work with me to help get this fixed. They said they simply cannot go beyond the 10 years even if it is a few days and mileage is well under. This is a VW part issue, not something user caused. Needless to say, this leaves a very bad taste in my mouth that rigidity and greed come before flexibility & doing what is right, especially during these times. This organization seems to lack compassion and the know-how of retaining long term loyal customers relationships & viewing each situation and customer as valuable.

The engine in the 2013 VW GTI we leased burned up at 25,000 miles. Nine days before this happened, the dealership where we leased it from refused to honor the service agreement and misled us as to whether or not it was due for service. As a result at the BBB arbitration between us and the manufacturer, we were held responsible for 1/2 of the cost of replacing the engine on a 2013 vehicle with only 25,000 miles on it. We have had to sue the dealership for the balance we had to pay due to the breach of the service contract. As a result, we have been paying $260/mo five months, the court date is not for another 3 months and we STILL dont have the car back. VW sucks, the warranty sucks, and the service contract sucks. The Customer Care guy (Douglas **) was nice enough though -- Im sure hes just following orders -- not his fault VW corporation cheats its customers on the warranty and the service contract (while still taking our lease payments at $260/mo).

Midway through the lease while driving with my 2 young kids the car stalled and would not restart. It was a horrible experience. The diagnosis was carbon emissions in the fuel exhaust mechanism or something like that. Ive since lost the records but Im sure VW has them as I submitted everything. They denied any responsibility and I incurred over 1200$ worth of damage and repairs. They stated that it was a part of normal service. This process took way too long to solve. I had divorced and changed my name before the recall started. In filling out the many pages required by VW, a question was have you had a name change. Oh! I wish I hadnt said yes. I sent proof of name change with an ID. My drivers license. This set me back a month or more with getting my paperwork done. No one had enough common sense to know how to handle a name change. One CS said I needed a proof of a marriage certificate. What??? Marriage certificate, I said, I was divorced. People, I was on the phone for 2 hours and 15 minutes wanting to know how to resolve how to show another way to prove my name change. I sent a copy of the page in my divorce papers that proved my name change. This was not enough. I had to send my whole divorce decree. In my opinion Thats not their business but I sent it anyway thinking I would finally get my appt for the buyback. Two weeks later I was finally approved and then was sent a calendar to make appt. The first available day was another month wait. Ridiculous! Then I found out that the buyback check will be five business days after the appt before depositing. So I asked if a car would be provided for me the five to seven days that I would be without transportation. No! Was the answer. Who does this? I dont have a second car. This whole thing has been very stressful. I will never buy a VW again. Good riddance.

I would rate my experience minus stars if you had such a thing. From the day I bought the car I was no longer important to the Tracy Volkswagen Dealership. They didnt have enough time to go over all the details of this new car and said we could have more time on the coming Sat. They never called. When I called them with problems of charging it, they told me they were on vacation, but if you come in I can give you a little time. When I asked about problems with Barnstable free chargers around Hyannis they didnt know why I couldnt charge on them. Said they would check it out. They never did. After a month of trying to figure it out myself I gave up and took it back. They wanted me to go the lemon law route. I told them I thought it was damaged and that they knew about it. That would be fraud to do the lemon law. I ended up paying them a total of over $5,000.00 to get out of the lease. The Corporate VW was no better. They had nothing to say to me, even though they had me fill out a survey for their company. I sent them letters, all the information and copies of everything and nothing. Im warning you, do not buy from Tracy Volkswagen in Hyannis Ma.

We bought a Jetta TDI back in 2014. Car was mostly good except for the 2 times the electronics disengaged from the engine and shut the car down putting me on the side of the road. But the buy-back has been horrendous. We signed up for the early lease termination. Considering it was August when we started and our lease ended in January we thought might as well. Well it took till mid-January to finalize everything and I couldnt get an turn in appointment till after the lease ended. So I called and confirmed I could just turn it in. Afterwards I called again and said, I turned it in, what now? I was told our check would be sent out within 3 business days. Nothing for over a week. Call again. They said they would look into it, but never was called back. Finally today got a hold of someone. We now have to start the entire process over again because we turned the car in without an appointment through the Claims Department. Everything completed and filled out worthless. We have to start the entire process over. Doesnt matter all the paperwork will be the same, we have to do it over. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told one could get back to me in 72 hours, that all I could do is start over. 5 months to get to here doing everything they asked and we get to start over because they took forever with the process? The compensation check is the same amount even and who cares if the car was turned in without an appointment with Claims? We turned it into the same place we would have regardless, hell even the same person. Kierra in Customer Service, you mean, unhelpful **, I hope your karma gets you. This is the second brand new VW GTI I have purchased. The first one I bought in 2012 had its fair share of issues but everything was covered under warranty and getting the car repaired was mildly painless (could not get rental/loaner car while repairs were made). Despite my better judgment on the reliability issues concerning the first VW I purchased I went ahead and purchased the more expensive (automatic DSG) version of the GTI for 2015. I have had numerous issues with the car including mechanical failures, cosmetic failures, and water leaking into my vehicle right through both of the rear doors. I cannot be relieved of my issues and the manufacturer (Volkswagen) will do nothing to help me (The consumer). It is surprising to me especially after the whole VW Diesel thing that VW will not even try to reach out to help the existing customer base they have left here. Needless to say I will be trading my car in (doors still leak after four or five attempts to repair to no avail). I will never be buying a Volkswagen again or recommending one to anyone I know. The second dealer I had attempt to repair my doors actually damaged both of my rear doors in the process and scratched my vehicle. If youre considering buying a VW then DONT. I honestly would recommend them despite the problems I had IF the customer service wasnt so poor. I am truly disappointed with my purchase and will think about this mistake I have made for years to come. The image I have included is the water leaking into my rear door. (This cannot be corrected despite the numerous attempts from two different authorized VW dealerships) Mind you this is nearly a brand new car with less than 16000 miles.

At the end of the Hybrid Supplement, it notes that if the gas tank does not accept fuel please advise to bring it to an authorized dealership. I brought in the car the first time: Never resolved the issue. Second time the issue was never resolved again. During the second time they recommend that I have to fix the fuel door actuator and that would cause a check engine light. I replaced the fuel door actuator and that never resolved any issue. During this transition the car had a vac pump issue and the e-motor system fails. I complain that my car still doesnt accept gas and other issues had arisen, and reading their warranties it says non-warrantied parts that are damaged due to the warrantied parts will be replaced free of charge. I brought in the car for the third time. They denied any warranties that will cover the fuel door as well as the vacuum pump.I argued for quite sometime because one of the service member called me saying it would be the engine control module. They went back and forth to figure out what was the issue and most likely didnt want to express the real issue on this car because the ECM is in fact on the parts list. They fixed the fuel door actuator and it was a circuit issue. There is a very extensive list for PZEV warrantied parts which also includes a vacuum amplifier 2567. I called numerous dealerships and all the service technicians do not know anything about a vacuum amplifier, VW Care says that the dealerships are their best technical advisers and we do not know what a vacuum amplifier is. I would expect that a vacuum amplifier is a vacuum pump synonymously. 2567 service code is for the engine, the vacuum pump questioned is mounted behind the engine from what a service technician told me.Also in their warranty booklet it notes that if the dealership denies a claim, that it would send a written explanation why they would deny the claims within 30 days. If they fail to send a written response then, by law they would warrant those claims. So the supervisor Mary ** denies the claim over the phone after Volkswagen DTLA wont let me keep the car there until the claim is resolved. She never written a response letter or any explanation what a vacuum amplifier 2567 is as well as reason why the vacuum pump doesnt have anything to do with the emissions. I asked numerous technicians if the vacuum pump is related to emissions and was told numerous times that in fact it is. I wanted to escalate my claim and asked again to please re-look into my case.Bill, a regional VW Customer care agent tells me lets bring it to another dealership and look at the issues and lets get everything resolved so we can get a fresh non-biased report. I do bring it into another dealership and that dealership mistakenly calls me and asked to speak with DTLA Volkswagen. The new dealership says its just a gas cap. Also the fuel door actuator fails again.VW Care deny claims once again and of course VW Care rudely uses scare tactics and employees like Bill ** and Preston are very good at intimidating me rather than listen to the case carefully as they insist that they will now write a written response for the denial of my claim more than 60 days past the original claim for the vacuum pump and fuel door actuator. I am very curious what else will lead to these numerous PZEV issues. I would highly stay away from Volkswagen, if they lied and cheated under their diesel engines; most likely there are issues with their emissions as well.

I thought I loved VW. Heck, I use to live in a town just outside of Wolfburg, GE. (Erkerode) It was a happy day when I purchased my 1st VW Jetta TDI. Drove like a champ and great on gas. Main reason I got it was because my daily commute was 2hrs 15min 1 way (all highway). Everything was good. Getting oil changes and services IAW VW. Then the emissions scandal happened. And I wont drone on about that. But, shortly thereafter I had a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) problem. No worries, I thought, Im still covered by Warranty, just barely. Bring her in to my local Dealership, they take a look and say that they need to do a manual regeneration. Next day, I pick her up, warning lights are off, and everything is good to go.The following day, I make my trek to and from work. And wouldnt you know it, the DPF light is back on. I call up the Dealership and drop her back off at the next available appointment. The kind folks at the Dealership even put me up in a Courtesy Vehicle. The next day I pick my car up after they explained to me that they had to do a deeper cleaning. Hey, no worries, this is all covered by Warranty. I happily drive home thinking that this issue has been resolved. Weekend goes by, Monday is here and I make my way to and from work. I get home and lo and behold, the DPF light is back on. Now Im getting frustrated and its apparent that something else must be wrong. I call the Dealership and they tell me that the only other thing they can do is replace the DPF altogether. It doesnt seem right, but they are the experts and it is under Warranty, so I drop her off. I get my car back, drive back and forth to work a few times, problem solved...Or so I thought. 20,000 miles later, I get a new set of lights on my instrument panel. This time its a flashing Glow Plug light, the Check Engine light, and a text display of a flashing wrench followed by the words Inspect. Wow, thats A LOT of stuff. But hey, at least its not the DPF light. I take a glance at my Owners Manual (OM) to see what these things mean. According to the OM, both the flashing Glow Plug light and Check Engine light means Engine Control Malfunction, and the flashing wrench had to do with the Transmission. GREAT... I just put a new transmission in my other car, but thats neither here nor there. I call up the Dealership and schedule an appointment. They have it for a day and then the Technician gives me a call to inform me that the codes came up for the DPF. So what they needed to do was run a regen and it would cost 300 something dollars. At this point, Im out of Warranty. If money is coming out of my pocket, Im going to make my questions and concerns known. I proceed to ask the Technician that if its a DPF problem, why is it that the DPF light didnt come on AND how is this possible, VW JUST replaced the DPF. Needless to say, he did not have an answer for either of those questions and said that hed give me a call back in 10 minutes or so. About 10 min go by and I get a call from a Service Rep that is familiar with my car and the whole DPF dilemma. She proceeds to tell me that they are going to investigate the matter and contact the main VW Tech something or another. The following morning, she gives me a call to tell me that VW Tech said it is a Failed Temp Sensor and that it will cost $2,625.14 to get it fixed and that I should call VW Customer Care about this to see if they can help the situation.ROFLMAO, they must have lost their minds. You mean to tell me that had I not questioned their original findings, I would have dropped $300 only to have the same issue keep popping up. So I did a little research. Apparently, when the Glow Plug light and Check Engine light pops up, it does that because the DPF is at 75% loading or is saturated with 40 grams of soot because the regen process isnt kicking in. And you dont have to be a genius to come to the assumption/conclusion that if the regen process (which cleans the filter), isnt activating because the Temp Sensor is bad, that driving approximately 20,000 miles without a proper regeneration occurring could lead to a DPF with 75% loading.Meaning, the Temp Sensor was most likely faulty the 1st time I was having the recurring DPF problems, only money wasnt coming out of my pocket at the time so I didnt question it, therefore the Dealership Technicians didnt further investigate it and come to the realization that that was the underlying issue. Quite convenient for VW. So, I take the Service Reps advice and call the VW Customer Care number that same day (today). The representative on the line was polite, and after a lengthy discussion she informs me that there is nothing they can do to help because my vehicle is no longer under warranty. She ALSO tells me that this $2,625.14 operation is just a suggestion from VW Tech on a possible resolution to my issue. That the VW Tech is not saying that the Temp Sensor is bad, but that it COULD fix the problem.WHAT... Youre telling me that I cough up $2,625.14 for something that VW most likely missed the first go around AND it may or may not resolve the issue... Thats unacceptable. On multiple levels that is unacceptable. 1st, that I have to pay for something that the Dealership missed/misdiagnosed the first time around and 2nd that they expect me to pay this sum of money when it might solve the issue, but they are not sure. So, I asked the kind lady if there was another number that I could contact to voice my displeasure/concern and was told, Im sorry, this is it. The sad thing is that this was a great car until the DPF issue. It was so good that my wife was wanting a VW as her next car, despite the Emission Scandal. LoL, needless to say, while typing this up, she sent me the following text, Well no more VWs for us.

Beware of the scam Half off the oil change. It looks like they might be putting half the oil!!! From day one always service my vehicle with Volkswagen. No one besides Volkswagen dealerships shop serviced my vehicle. A few days ago the car stopped on the freeway while driving. Lucky no one was hurt. When insurance inspector got back to me they stated that the cause of the accident was Engine fail due to zero oil in Engine. The engine had turned black inside and there was no sign of an oil change done for months. Which is not true. Also no sign of any leakage. None of the service light ever came on indicating that there was something wrong with the vehicle! The vehicle even states that Im not due for an oil change yet! When I called VW they gave me the runaround basically telling me that even though the car is not due for an oil change for another 2000 mile or months their hands are tied. Because The vehicle has too many mileage (94000) and to old (2011). But they would be happy to forward my complaint to the dealer that did my oil change. They didnt even offer to have my car inspected by one of their shop. Thought I was saving when I got that offer in the mail half off my oil change. Which now is going to cost me a new engine!

I’ve never bought a brand new car and wasn’t able to get a loaner vehicle when there’s a warranty issue. I’ve never had this experience with BMW or Mercedes or any other new car that I’ve owned in my entire life. If the car breaks be prepared to not have a car, for however long it takes him to fix it. Worst warranty program ever. I will never buy another VW EVER AGAIN. I’m receiving safety recall notices in the mail but can’t get them fixed. The dealerships will only drive you 10 miles from the dealer and I live more than 10 miles away from a dealer. This is the worst experience I’ve ever had with the new car.

I purchased my 2009 Volkswagen cc at 72000 miles on November 2014. The same day I drove home I had a CEL turn on and off, I took it back, and the dealer changed 1 coil wire that was about to go bad. Thanks. Soon after (month later), my fuel pump and fuel pump module went out. I called and they said, No warranty. I went and purchased, 650 dollars with installation at brother in laws shop. Cheaper than dealer by $500. Then at 112000 miles my transmission went out. No warranty of course. That was 5k to replace and install. This was in March 2016. In April my fuel injector was misfiring. Replaced all injectors. Then in March 2017 my throttle body went out. No help all this time from VW group of America. Worthless to be honest. Now in October 2017 my fan went unbalanced. We have been a customer for 20 years. We purchased a VW Jetta in 2015. We have not had too many issues with the car. However, when coming back from vacation with 2 children in the car and we had a blowout at 9 pm on 64 E in Virginia. I pulled over to the side of the road, I then removed everything from the trunk to get to the spare tire. After pulling out the jack, and tire out of the car, I noticed there is no lug wrench. We called VW roadside assistance which dispatched a tow truck that I arrived 45 minutes later. We had the vehicle towed to our home which cost me $211.00. I went to VW the next morning to explain what happened and their sales manager said: Well you bought the car 4 years ago. It not our problem.I called customer service to file a complaint and received a callback and stated they are not going to do anything because the car was four years old. The sales manager was uncaring and did not even seem to care. I asked to speak to the GM and he stated he wont be in for 30 - 60 minutes. I waited to speak to the GM but never got to speak with him but was told they were not going to assist us with the tow cost. They would of if I had towed the car to their dealership. I said I had 4 people in the car (2 children) as well as a lot of luggage. After 20 years of faithful service with the company they did not care about their customers, they are only out for the money. As of today, I will NEVER BUY A VW again or recommended the dealership/company again. So much for Southern Hospitality.

Purchased a 2012 Tiguan less than a year ago at 58K. From day 1 there have been constant oil leaks all year. I took it back to the dealer repeatedly. Oil leaks continued. A couple weeks ago I paid an $1800 bill for a rear main oil seal leak. VW refused to reimburse me because they said there was no recall on it and its past warranty. I know for a fact this is a consistent problem for this year and model and it should be under recall not to mention it started when it was under 60K. I am very unhappy and want to be reimbursed for the repair due to a faulty product. I wont stop until its reimbursed.

My Jetta just had its engine blow up essentially. There is a manufacturer defect and these should have been recalled. I was driving when the engine decided to just stop working. I could have killed someone. There is a class action lawsuit for this exact issue. When trying to get this issue resolved and get a portion covered to replace the motor, we were given the run around. We have been told that it would be 10k for a new motor. The consumer “advocate” says there is nothing they can do about it and refuses to escalate this to another individual above her pay grade. VW has poor customer service, questionable business model and just overall poor business practices. I will NEVER purchase another VW and I caution others in the purchasing of one. My vehicle broke down in Florida on a vacation there. I was given roadside assistance as part of their goodwill to the owners that were lied to about the diesel vehicles. The actual dealership that caused the problem covered the cost of the repair but I was told I would be able to go thru roadside assistance trip interruption to get back cost of hotel, gas, food etc. that was incurred because of this. Now after submitting all my receipts that I was told to do I am now denied that because its not a repair that is covered under the new vehicle warranty - that it was the fault of a dealership so they are saying Im out of luck. Ive owned 2 Volkswagens and if they dont make good on this, this one will be my last. None of this was my fault - its the fault of Volkswagen. I did the right thing. I just had Takata airbag done today and am waiting like Libby on the fuel pump which can cause serious consequences if malfunctions and stalls out. I was told today Volkswagen service dept. still does not have the necessary parts to correct and fix this problem. I also have no maintenance or warranty on this car that at time of purchase I was told it had a 3 year maintenance program as well as warranty. I found out today when I took it in for my 3rd year maintenance that it had expired and that it was only 2 years on the maintenance. I never got notification of this until today. My husband purchased a pre-owned 2013 Passat and got 3 years on maintenance yet my car cost 10,000 more and was purchased new. I will never, ever buy another Volkswagen again. Probably should never have listened to the car dealer at time of purchase without verifying myself. I was sold a resist all protection and passkey yet never offered extended warranty option. I will go to another manufacturer with better warranty and maintenance programs next time.

I hit a small deer one month ago (drivers side light, hood, quarter panel). The insurance paid for the body work, but not for a spastic, drivers side door. The car (VW 2002 Golf TDI) thinks the door is open all the time and alerts me. When I turn on the lights at night, the alert screams at me. The dealership, which Allstate Insurance made me tow the car to, says this happens to the door all the time even if you hit a pothole and jar the car. The dealership is a 3-hr round trip from where I live and there is a certified VW mechanic in the next town from me, but Allstate wouldnt let me take it there. I told the adjuster and dealership that nothing was wrong before the accident, but they say it is something that happens on VWs a lot. Why isnt there a recall on this if it is so prevalent. And if hitting a pothole could cause this problem, why wouldnt an accident do so also? I will never buy another VW. I have put a lot of money into this car (VW maintenance costs a lot!). Its a 2002 model, but I had a Honda that I drove for 20 years before any major money had to put into it. This has been a nightmare not having a car for a month and living in a rural area.

I have been an on/off VW owner for almost 15 years. I recently became one again just a few months ago and now I know why I was on/off, rather than always on! After this current experience, I cannot recommend Volkswagen products any longer and no matter what changes they make, I will never return. My recent vehicle was purchased brand new and the quality of workmanship on it is so poor that I would not let my worst enemy get one. Mine came with a defective dashboard straight out of the factory! The dash had a golf ball sized imperfection and a few hollow spots near the passenger airbag. The front window trims also had gashes in them and were also colored differently. One of my interior lights has a bug and some floating debris inside of the housing. There is a s black paint mark on one side of my trunk door (my vehicle is red). I dont care how much the vehicle retails for, this workmanship is pure junk and 100% unacceptable. This vehicle and all of VW is a total embarrassment to the entire car world. My 2012 VW Tiguan (30,000 miles) has to have the engine replaced. I take it to Bethesda Oarsman dealer. Thankfully I had the extended warranty but they had my car for over 2 months. When I got it back this new engine was making clunking noise every time I turned right. Took it back and they said they fixed it but still had the noise with a new noise happening every time I started to accelerate. Took back it again. Then my sunroof starting leaking and mats were soaked. Took it in again and they said they fixed it.3 weeks later after I was away for 2 weeks and not using the car I got in and the entire car was damp with Mildew everywhere. Took it in again and they had it for 2.5 months and told me it was fixed so I came and picked it up. Drove it that night but the car still stank of mildew and it rained and water was dripping from all the windows. Defroster just made it worse and was dangerous driving. Took it back in again the next day and told them they didn’t fix anything. Left it there for another 2 weeks. Got a call telling me it was ready again so went to pick it up and car still stinks like mildew and mold is still on seatbelts. Left it there and this is where I am now. NEVER BUY A VW!!

2008 VW Passat 2.0T burns lots of oil.I purchased my 2008 VW Passat 2.0T on 5/2/11. I had oil change on 7/15/11 and was over 2 quarts low. I contacted my dealership since this car had less than 50,000 miles, why is its 100% synthetic oil breaking down like this since I obviously have a leak. The dealership said to check oil every 1000 and call back at next oil change; burnt/slipped around rings 2 quarts of oil. The dealership doesnt want to do oil consumption test because its within manufacturer acceptable limitations. Any oil consumption that requires I carry oil with me in my vehicle represents a real problem. This takes my $100 regular oil changes to $130. And nobody thinks this should be disclosed to the consumer prior to making a purchase decision? I did the research before I purchased and I didnt even dream of looking up this subject. I researched electrical malfunctions, engine life, performance, etc. This was never mentioned by the dealership, and now isnt their issue.

My husband and me have been the proud owners of three new Volkswagen cars. We have always had our cars maintained only by the Donaldson Volkswagen dealership in Sayville, NY. Ever since I have owned my 2004 VW Beetle, I have noticed that the ignition cylinder lock. I verbally mentioned this several times to the Donaldsons Technicians and was told VW Beetle had been made this way and I was informed to wiggle the steering wheel and place my foot on the brake. I never check out this information given to me by the technicians. My beetle is now over 88,000 miles and without an extensive warranty. On 7/18/16 my car broke down and locked. My car had to be towed to the Donaldson dealership. I explained to technician this was an on going problems throughout the years that I owned the VW Beetle. I had to fix the car. The Donaldson Technician wrote: Found steering column locked. Mechanically faulty causing damage to ignition lock cylinder, removed and replaced ignition lock cylinder, removed and replaced steering column lock. This cost was $532.30 to repair. I asked the technician again if anything could be done with the cost of the repairs since this was an ongoing problem with the ignition lock cylinder. Technician replied, no, your warranty has expired and the car is over 88,000 miles. The technician gave me the VW Cares telephone number but I received the same comment from Improvement Customer Service person Martin ** as well as their team leader MaryJo ** who made the final decision. Both of them would not give me their last names. I learned two lessons from this experience. 1) I am not a value customer at VW Donaldson. 2) Check out an on going problem with your car and find out if this problem is ongoing with other VW 2004 Beetles. My husband and me were going to purchase two more VW cars but we learned our lesson from this experience.

Our son could have been killed, but Volkswagen, which is doing a big ad campaign about safety, refuses to pay the building owner for the damage or to reimburse us for our $1000 deductible. After four years of dealing with Volkswagen customer service I have made my mind up to never buy another! I like my 2010 Jetta TDI Sportswagen - its a nice car to drive and get decent fuel mileage. I have dealt with two different dealerships on various issues, and feel their service representatives are very poorly trained. Can you imagine one of them telling me that my spark plugs needed replacement - on a diesel, there are no spark plugs! Or a labor charge of $90.00 to replace the rear window wiper. The wiper itself cost $16.00 as a separate charge. This car has never been touched by anyone but VW dealers, and they stripped the oil pans drain plug out?? Then blamed it on me because I have the cars oil changed too frequently??The latest issue was an engine trouble light. They charged me $99.99 just to read the problem, then tell me the problem is your glow plug is bad. Diesel engine will not start without an active glow plug. I feel I am being ripped off. And when I total all the charges, I realize I would have been better off financially driving another vehicle with half the fuel economy. Today I got an answer back from corporate that they took my complaint and passed it on to the dealer -- whats wrong with this picture??? Before you invest in any Volkswagen product, consider their poor, and very expensive service work, and no help from the manufacturer. Customer Service Counts!!!

Being a foreigner for over 4 years in the US, I had a hard time building credit, trying to get credit cards but banks never wanting to give them due to being on a US visa. So after I got denied several times years before I finally got financing on a Passat with $6000 down payment and a 14% interest rate and of course the salespeople at VW Santa Monica scamming me by making the price higher when we did the contract, from $17399 to suddenly $18956 or something including all the fees, so that I pay interest ON the fees as well (did not know better) paying $26.000 something on the car when paid off! So almost $9000 more than this crappy car is worth. Anyway, after paying on time for more than 1 year, I lost my job and fell behind with payments. I called a few times asking to refinance or lower the payments to no avail. Then fell behind 5 month and of course when I call they tell me car is in repo but they take the repo off if I pay at least 4 payments asap. I tell them I am overseas and need to have my US checks cleared through my bank which took 3-4 weeks over the Christmas holidays. So as soon as it cleared I send a money order via FedEx with 5 month worth of payments to get current. So I call 2 weeks later and they tell me I have to return the car as my account was closed. I am like, WHAT??? They told me on the phone if I pay 5 payments they will take off the repo and I can pay monthly via bank transfer from then on, and I call and they just canceled everything they said before and say Pay $14.000 - right now or bring the car back. I cannot believe it. They say, Contract says bla bla cancelled when in default, even after I agreed on the phone to pay them 5 payments and get current and DID pay them, they say, It was TOO LATE and now they want the total outstanding on the car within days or need the car back. What a ** company, the WORST liars and scammers out there! I paid up, she confirmed my payment but supposedly it was days too late. So now I dont know what to do, lose $26000, and the car, cannot drive to work without a car, still have to pay off the rest. Instead of working with us these scammers rather take your car and still have you pay off the rest because they is how they make money. NEVER VOLKSWAGEN AGAIN. Worst car company ever. I lease the Rabbit, because the salesman stated I could buy the car after 48 months with purchase option around $8,500.00. The value was written on the contract. In the last month of my lease, I called VW to confirm the payoff - $8,500.00. So, Im going to refinance the car for purchase or trade the car. I found a Nissan. He agreed to give me $10,000.00 on trade. Its a fair deal; the VW was listed for $12-14 thousand. The Nissan dealer signed a power of attorney to procure the lease title of the VW. VW told him his payoff was $11,930.00. Now, Ive driven the Nissan off the lot. I called VW again, asking what difference it does make if the payoff check comes from me or a car dealer. They said, Dont send a check with the dealerships name on it. To make a long story short, though I could have paid off the VW myself, Nissan didnt want to wait for the title. I lost about $1,500.00 through re-negotiations plus emotional trauma. The payoff should be the payoff. Monopolizing and false advertising are illegal. Nowhere on the lease contract did it state the payoff would be different if you were trading in the car at Nissan. I found a form faxed to Nissan from Bill **. VW apparently could purchase the car for $8,500.00. If you want to trade, buy your car first. The leasing company pays all sales tax on the total price of the vehicle when you sign the lease. So if you purchase the leased car, maybe you pay tax on the $8500.00 figure. Nevertheless, look up the Illinois law definition of false advertisement. The omission or concealment of material facts on which a person relies upon when purchasing a product is hereby illegal (paraphrase). There is no way I could have known this was going to happen to me. It was not stated on the lease agreement.VW lied; they told me that at the end of the lease, I could trade the car at any dealership--Dodge, Toyota, etc.--and that VW of America would honor the purchase option price. What a crock. But how do we know when its not written in the least contract. The payoff should be the payoff. You buy a house, the payoff is the payoff. You refinance, the payoff is the payoff. I called for my payoff before I went looking for another vehicle. What VW is doing needs to be outlawed under truth in lending laws.
