The 2009 Saturn Vue is a compact SUV known for its versatility, comfortable ride, and available hybrid powertrain. Here are some key features and information about the 2009 Saturn Vue:

Design: The 2009 Vue features a modern and compact SUV design. It has a well-proportioned body, a distinctive front grille, and clean lines. The Vue's design strikes a balance between functionality and style.

Engine and Performance: The Vue offers different engine options depending on the trim level:

2.4-liter four-cylinder engine: This engine produces around 169 horsepower and provides good fuel efficiency. It is typically paired with a four-speed automatic transmission.

3.6-liter V6 engine: This engine generates approximately 257 horsepower, delivering stronger performance and acceleration. It is typically paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.

Hybrid Option: The Vue is available with a hybrid powertrain known as the Vue Green Line. It combines a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor to deliver improved fuel efficiency. The hybrid system assists the engine during acceleration and deceleration, reducing fuel consumption.

It typically includes seating for up to five passengers, cloth upholstery, air conditioning, power windows and locks, and a CD audio system. Depending on the trim level and options, additional features may include leather upholstery, heated seats, a premium audio system, and a navigation system.

Cargo Space and Versatility: The Vue provides a decent amount of cargo space for a compact SUV. It offers versatility with a flat-folding rear seat that allows for easy loading and expansion of the cargo area. Additionally, the front passenger seat can also fold flat to accommodate longer items.

Safety Features: Standard safety features on the 2009 Vue include antilock brakes, stability control, traction control, front-seat side airbags, and full-length side curtain airbags. The Vue is designed to prioritize safety and provide protection for both the driver and passengers.

Reliability: The 2009 Vue generally demonstrates good reliability. However, it's important to note that Saturn is no longer in production, and finding parts and service may be more challenging compared to more widely available vehicles. It's recommended to research the vehicle's maintenance history and overall condition before purchasing a used 2009 Saturn Vue.

If you're considering purchasing a 2009 Saturn Vue, I recommend checking the vehicle's specifications and options with a Saturn dealership or using online resources that provide detailed information about the particular vehicle you are interested in. Additionally, a pre-purchase inspection by a qualified mechanic can help ensure the vehicle is in good condition.

I have a 2001 Saturn L200 and the Engine Cradle has cracked on the front and apparently they no longer make these parts. So I own a car with 134,000 miles that runs good but not able to fix my car because they no longer make the part. And apparently because of the Cash for Clunkers, Saturn was one of the cars that everyone junked because couldnt get parts for the cars. So Thank You Saturn for making JUNK CARS and apparently you were aware because you no longer make these vehicles.

My 2005 Saturn Ion with 12,000 miles has problems with the ignition switch that will not turn off. I had service on this problem three times. I never know when the key will stick and I cannot turn the motor off. I am 82 years old and do not want to buy a new vehicle. I do not want to pay $550 dollars to have it repaired for a manufacturers defect.

I purchased a used 2007 Saturn Ion roughly 2 years ago. For the first year or so, I was very happy with it. Everything seemed fine until 8 months ago, when I was out running errands, came home and couldnt turn my car off. The key wouldnt budge. We had to disconnect the battery to keep it from overheating and proceeded to call a locksmith, who had to take apart my entire steering column and cut my key up just to get it out. That set me back $200. Fast forward to this afternoon, almost 8 months to the day of the last incident, and deja vu. I came home from a few errands and the key wouldnt turn at all. Thus, my car wouldnt turn off. I know its going to cost me another $200 just to get my key out. I cant afford to keep forking over this money every 8-12 months because this is something that GM hasnt put a recall on yet. Clearly, this is a huge problem with hundreds of customers of the Saturn brand. Unfortunately, I am contractually obligated to this car for another 3 years and will never purchase another GM brand vehicle again.

For the past 12 months I have been experiencing some starting problem with my 2005 Saturn Ion. Sometimes, I put the key in the ignition and turn it and the car does not start. However, after taking the key out and waiting between 7 and 10 minutes and trying to start, it starts without any problem. As mentioned, this problem has been going on for the past 12 months. So today, after reading some of the blogs and a posted phone number (**), I decided to call, the lady answering the phone was very polite and helpful. She called a buick dealership and got the service person on the phone. I asked this person if he had ever heard of this problem and he acknowledged that he did not. But after pressing further, he admitted that he had heard of this problem but need the car to further troubleshoot the problem and that they will charge a fee to do.Ill wait and see what happens. I am not ready to contact an attorney yet.

I purchased a 2008 Saturn Vue XR on July 7, 2011. On September 2, 2011, smoke started coming through the vents with a strong smell like something was burning. It went away and didnt return for the rest of the day. Well, I didnt drive it for the rest of the day actually. On September 3rd and 4th, it did the same thing while I was driving and became worse if I turned the air conditioner on. Not even two months after purchasing this vehicle, and already the vehicles first trip at the shop on September 5, 2011. The mechanic explained that the hose for heating/air was cleared of any blockage. On September 9, 2011, I had to return it to the shop for the same problem. They gave me an oil change and checked the hose. There was no vapor/mist coming out of the vents for 2 days. The third trip to the shop was on September 16, 2011 for the same issues; strong coolant smell, vapor or mist coming out of the vents, and oily film on the windshield. On September 9th, I called and filed a complaint with Saturn customer service. I was told to take it to a GM certified dealer and have them diagnose the problem. My appointment was on September 23, 2011 at Mike Anderson in Merrillville, Indiana. On September 21, 2011, I attempted to start the vehicle and it wouldnt start. I had to use my husbands vehicle to take my child to school. In the meantime, my husband used a battery conditioner to recondition the battery and jumper cables to start the vehicle. I went to Mike Anderson Chevrolet on September 23, 2011. Joshua ** took care of me in the service department. They kept the vehicle overnight. On September 24, 2011, I was quoted $1,600.00 for Heater Core Replacement due to a fracture in the core causing an antifreeze leakage. Also, the battery needed to be replaced because it was dead again when Joshua tried to bring me the vehicle. Joshua used jumper cables and revived the vehicle.

I purchased a 2008 Saturn Vue on 7/7. A month and a half later, the issues began. On 9/2, I started seeing smoke coming out of the vents with a strong coolant smell as if the antifreeze was burning. There was also an oily film on the windshield. I thought that it would go away but it continued the following day and the day after. It worsens if the air is turned on.Not even two months after purchase, my vehicle took its first trip to my privately owned auto shop. I was told by the mechanic that the hose for heating and air conditioning needed to be cleared out for any blockage. The vehicle was fine for a day or two and the same issue occurred. On 9/9, I returned to the shop and the hose was checked. There was no smoke or vapor from the vents or oily film on the windshield for two days.I called Saturn customer service to report this issue. They took all of my information and told me to take it to a GM dealer. I made an appointment with Mike Anderson, a GM certified dealer in Merrillville, Indiana. I was told that I will be charged $79.95 for each problem or complaint. On 9/16, I took the vehicle back for a different diagnosis and was told that the heater core needed to be replaced due to a fracture causing the antifreeze to leak. The antifreeze or coolant drips on the engine causing a vapor or mist to blow through the vents, causing an oily film on the windshield. On 9/21, my vehicle was dead. It wouldnt start at all. Yes! A vehicle that wasnt even three months old had a dead battery, I assumed. I used jumper cables to revive it. On 9/23, I took it to the GM dealer to be told by Joshua ** in customer service that the diagnosis is a fracture in the heater core and the entire part need to be replaced. In order to perform this repair, the entire dashboard had to be removed. Also, the battery was very weak. Joshua quoted me $1,600.00 plus $79.95 for the diagnosis. Who has that kind of money these days? Joshua attempted to bring me the vehicle and the vehicle was dead again. He used jumper cables and drove it for about five minutes and delivered it to me.I called Saturn customer service back and gave Julie more information on the diagnosis and the cost. She asked for my private auto shop that I use normally and I gave that information also. She worded the complaint as seeking reimbursement for repairs and gave me the misunderstanding that I could take it to my privately owned auto shop.I got a return call two days later only to be told that I should have taken it back to the GM dealer for repairs because they reduced the cost. What a disappointment! Why wasnt I told that in the first place by Red at customer service when I called on 9/9 or Julie when I called on 9/26? In the future, customers should be told not to take their vehicles to an outside shop because assistance cannot be given.

Sometimes, I have to sit there for more than 5 minutes fiddling with the key and the shifter so it registers that the car is parked. I also have a difficult time getting the car to start, especially when the temperature gets below 40 degrees. The battery has been checked multiple times but does not seem to be the issue.

I just had an experience where I could not turn the key backward to turn off. It was a very scary situation. I had to find someone to show me how to pull a fuse and then disconnect the ground cable to the battery so as not to run the battery down. The key is left in the on position. It looks like many people are dealing with this and I was told that this is a Saturn/GM issue. Has anyone found recourse to correct this very common occurrence with these vehicles?

The car has been unreliable since day one--the window has continually fogged up, need to run it with the air on at all time. Every morning, it bucks and chugs for the first half mile. The car only has 50,000 miles on it and now I have had to replace the starter, and of course the ignition. My work around for this has been to pull all the plastic around the steering column. I pulled the key out with pliers and I can now start it by twisting the ignition bezel. I stop it by pulling the electrical connection at the back of the ignition cylinder. It is a manual transmission. Does anyone have an 800 number at GM that I can call and complain to?

As read in all of the other reviews, I am both happy and sad. Happy to see that I am not the only one with this issue and sad to see that GM has not done anything about it! So my key also gets stuck when I am trying to turn off my car. I did notice that if you wait patiently, you will eventually hear a little click sound. When you hear that sound, then the key will come out. Well it does it on my car. I am not sure if it does it on all but if you hear the click once, you will know what to look for. I have a new problem now. I parked my car in my driveway last night then went back into the car to run to the store and I am having the opposite problem. I turn the key to start the car and it gets stuck before the car can start. So now I cannot start the car! I was looking to see if there were any recalls and I found hundreds of complaints. I saw another writer mention a class action law suit. Perhaps that is the way to go.

2006 Saturn Ion, Manual transmission - Slow engine light came on with the regular engine light just after the car passed the 80,000 mile mark. It had been running perfectly, a/c blowing beautifully. Now best mechanic in town cant figure out what is wrong. Sensors are running numbers that dont jive. Had already had the recall work done at the dealer. Was it a bad tank of gas? Its not the catalytic converter. Loved this car, but its scary reading about all of the problems that folks have and now my car maybe cant even be fixed. What is GM going to do with its lemons?

My fiance has a 2002 Saturn SC2 with low mileage (43,891). I just went outside to check the mileage in order to submit this complaint like so many others and now the key will not come out. The motor turns off but will not release the key. Here is the real safety issue. I can pull the shifter from park through all of the gears without stepping on the brake petal! The car is parked on a hill and anyone can pull the shifter and let it roll down the hill! The problem has just recently started to exist since the temperature has gone below about 40 degrees. The car was in like showroom condition when purchased about 3 years ago.

I financed a used car (2009 Saturn Vue) on the evening of 2/22/13. On 2/23/13 early afternoon, as I was driving with family members, the car caught on fire. A young lady pulled up next to me and told me that I had fire falling from underneath my car. We immediately pulled over, jumped out, and called 911. The firemen came, put the fire out and did an investigation for their report. They said it looked electrical, but couldnt say for sure. I had the car towed back to the dealer. They were closed on that Saturday so I had to wait until Monday to talk to someone. They do not want to take accountability. They stated that they had to treat this as a new car sale and I had to file an insurance claim. I told them that I hadnt even had the car 24 hours, that I want my downpayment back and the contract cancelled so that I can go and get another car elsewhere. An inspector went out (from my insurance company) and also said it looked electrical, but he could not say that that was the definite cause of the fire. The dealership wants me to go through with the claim. They offered to pay my insurance deductible, but thats it. The sales manager went on and on about how the Saturn Vue was the best used car that they had on the lot and how superior their service inspections are, etc. That is all the more reason for me to be concerned. Them offering to pay a $500 deductible does nothing for my insurance going up, my inability to be able to trade that car in down the line since it had a fire. And since the root cause of the problem could not be found, there is nothing to keep it from happening again. I want my down payment ($1500) back and I want to go elsewhere and get another vehicle as soon as possible. I am currently without a car. I spoke with the salesperson and the sales manager. I was told that the general manager would call me and he did not, nor did the owner. I should not be held accountable for their car catching on fire in less than 24 hours. I drove home from the dealership Friday night, to my cousins funeral on Saturday morning and the car caught on fire while I was driving in the funeral procession early Saturday afternoon.

Over the last two months, I have had some problems when I would turn my car off and the key would not disengage after. I fooled with it and the key would disengage. Was driving to work on 6/13 13 in the morning; I was running along at 65 when I heard a slight click noise. At the same time, the engine and the gauges cut off. The radio was still working. I coasted off-road, turned the key again, and the car started right up. Never had that happen.Got to work and went out four hours later to start the car. It started right up, but I could not turn it off. I tried everything I knew. I took it to a local shop, and they replaced the broken parts in the steering column for the ignition key and the switch assembly. Total cost was $598.00. Does anyone know if there was a silent recall for that issue that they are not telling people? I would like to know.

I bought my 2003 Saturn L200 in July of 2009 with only 31,000 miles on it. It was great for two years, until the Summer of 2011 when the odometer started spinning out of control. It added 50,000+ miles on it in a short time. It costs $1400 to fix the BCM (body control module) and took a month to fix. The dealer had to backorder the part. Now, my fuel pump has died repeatedly, leaving me stranded multiple times. The fuel pump at OReilly Auto Parts costs $350 and this was the cheapest price by far. Its currently at the mechanic for the third time and he is stumped. After the car died the second time, we figured we got a bad fuel pump. But somehow it is not getting power to the fuel pump. I was promised the GM would continue to uphold Saturns level of service. All Ive seen are expensive parts and time-consuming repairs. I will never buy a GM product again.

I parked a vehicle. I went to turn it off and the key would not turn back to off position, the car would not stop running. I finished to drive home. I tried access to the switch inside the column as pointed out in the drivers manual. Also, I tried turning the wheel back and forth, shifting, etc. as pointed out in the manual. The key would not come out. I disconnected the battery and pulled the fuse on injectors to get it to stop. I took it to the dealer the next morning, after leaving it parked outside, unlocked with keys inside the car and started it by reconnecting the battery and inserting the fuse. The cylinder kit and housing kit were replaced at the dealership and one set of keys were replaced. I was told that both keys would work. I tested them in the dealer lot, neither set worked well in the trunk or the doors, but they both started and stopped the car. The bill came to $701.11. I left the dealership to get lunch, half a mile away, went through drive-thru and then to the office for another half mile away. I parked the car to go inside. The key turned the vehicle off, but would not come out of the ignition. I drove back to the dealership and they rechecked it, apparently sprayed some graphite into the ignition, tested it several times and at this point, works. But I have no confidence in this not happening again. Research on the internet shows hundreds of others that have experienced this problem and no recall to this point. Not even an investigation.

Horn died, trunk lock had to be replaced, eats tires and sway bars like crazy. Put new brakes every year. Everything rusted underneath. New manifold. Needed catalytic converter twice. Now I just cant put any more funds into this car. Seeking a different vehicle now. Only has 167,000 miles. I drove a 96 Subaru wagon into the ground. It had over 200,000 miles and still ran awesome. I am very disappointed that Saturn had not addressed my ignition/steering column problem. Yesterday, I got home from work and parked my Saturn, in the garage, only to discover that I could not turn it off and the key was locked in the ignition. Fortunately, it was early enough to get it to a garage, before they closed for the day. Unfortunately, they have to take the whole steering column apart to get the key out. They plugged the button near the ignition, and did not release it. I would certainly like to see a class action law suit filed, against GM for not resolving this problem, as it seems to have been reported with IONS, for the last 7 years or so, as far as I can see. I just got the loan paid off, so the timing for the car to fall apart is coincidental.

Ive had this car now for about 9 mos. Its been a pretty good car until the last 2 weeks. The a/c was the 1st to go out (when I 1st got it). I had everything replaced, then about 2 mos. later, the a/c went out again. So, 2 weeks ago, the stereo stopped playing, it says to check the wiring. In the past week, all these new things started. I now smell gas fumes, when we hit the door locks, the headlights go out and back on. Last night, I put the car in reverse, and the lights went out and back on. Sometimes, when I put it in reverse, the gas gauge drops from 1/2 tank to empty. Other times, after refueling, I leave the pump with the empty gas light on. I make sure the gas cap is on tight before I leave the station. Two days now, the security light comes on, so today, I replaced the battery in the wireless remote, and stopped @ Autozone to have the cars battery checked & it is fine. A few months ago, I was having a problem with the car stalling out when I backed up, but after hearing about the ignition switch recall & GM, I tried something that works. I took the key off my keyring. There are no other keys on it, the added weight of a few other keys, was messing with the ignition switch. Im pretty sure my problem is with some loose wiring, I read that with the Saturn, the a/c condenser hose pops off, and read theres no hope for the gas smell. I just pray the car doesnt go up in flames. Oh, and have had a few problems with the tail lights too. And a few weeks ago, I couldnt get the trunk lock to catch after checking the problem with the brake/tall-light problem. I didnt know until today that Saturn is a GM product, cause I promise you had I known, I would never have bought it. Ford held their own, GM bailed out.

My car has been running this way for over a year. Good luck.

My life and my 9-week-old son and 20-Month-old Daughter are in Danger. I have had problems with my 2007 Saturn Ion since I purchased the car brand new in September of 2006. I have had about 11 cases opened with Saturn/GM within the past 5-6 years for the same issue. My cars electrical power completely shuts down while driving. I am unable to turn the wheel, use the brake or gas pedals, roll down my window, unlock the car, turn on hazard lights, or take the keys out of the ignition. After years of this happening and taking my car for service to fix this issue, there still has been nothing found that could be causing this issue and I have been left feeling unsafe driving my car. I felt after the below recalls my car would finally be fixed and the issues that have been happening for so many years had been resolved. Saturn/GM has been aware of the issues with the power shutting down to their line of vehicles. My car was repaired under the below recall, I picked it up from the dealership yesterday evening. This morning I was driving with my kids in the car, when the same exact issue happened. All power in the car stopped, I was almost sideswiped and rear ended. I am at the end of my rope. I fear for my life and for my Childrens lives. I no longer feel safe and do not trust that this issue will ever be permanently fixed. My car is back at the dealership that made the repairs and I only have a rental for one day. I have to provide for my kids and cannot keep missing work. I do not want my car anymore. I would like GM to buy back the car. Will I or my Children have to die in a car crash before GM will help resolve this issue?! I am the original owner of the car. The car only has 27,845 miles on it. These issues also happened when the car was under warranty as well. Please find below the info to the GM issued Recalls: Recall 2014113: Recall Date - 04/16/2014; Recall Description - REPLACE IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER AND IGNITION KEYRecall 2014063: Recall Date - 03/07/2014; Recall Description - IGNITION SWITCH REPLACEMENT

I love my car (2005 Saturn ION coupe)! However, as the weather warmed up, my key would not come out of the ignition. I looked up how much it would cost to fix this and the price was outrageous. As with the other comments, why is this not a recall item? You cant get out of the car unless you have the presence of mind to hit the door lock, which may be difficult as we have been programmed to find the door unlocked when the ignition is turned off. Cheap temporary fix: under the steering column is a small diamond-shaped cover and I popped it off and pressed my thumb on a switch on the left-hand side (switch has spongy feeling - and a little greasy) and turned the key at the same time. No problem. This is temporary and will not stop the key from getting stuck again, but Id rather be inconvenienced a bit than pay out the nose for something that is well documented and should be fixed by a recall.

I bought my VUE new in 2003. Loved this car. Just right for me. All of a sudden it started stalling out while driving down the street. All the dash lights came on, the steering and brakes were gone. All of this in rush hour traffic in Denver. Took it in...paid out just over $900 to try to find out what it was, didnt help. Picked it up on Friday, stalled in traffic on Saturday. Did some research found out this was a problem with the 2002-2004 Saturn VUE and Ion. During those years the Saturn VUE was on a car chassis or so Im told - and beginning 2005 on a truck base. I went to the GM dealer after this last brush with death and was told I probably needed a new transmission.....$3,800. Found out about the GM class action suits in California and other places regarding the Saturn VUE. I had the car towed....not driving it. Certainly not trading it in for someone else to be hurt. Looking for a good used car now.

My Saturn Outlook 2008 has had water pump replaced at 30,000 miles, solenoid replaced around the same time. Multiple transmission wave plate issues requiring rebuild 3 times, fortunately all covered by warranty but the last time I had to pay to have transmission flushed. Power windows work sometime by me, sometime by the passengers. Presently I have 111,000 miles on the car. The tranny is extremely delicate. Being that it has failed me 3 times, I know how to go easy on it so it lasts. I am the only one who drives my car because it is very temperamental. Oh yeah I recently replace front grill because one morning I woke up and it had a rippled appearance. $250.00. Car looks good inside and out, costed me $515/month for 6 years. The biggest mistake ever, but it is very appealing to the eye. People love the car. If they only knew what a heap of crap it was. My 1998 Lexus E300 is more dependable, and cost me $3500, used. My issues were communicated to Saturn/GM. They did nothing interesting but take down the complaints.

I begin correspondence and after eight months and numerous e-mails and recall letters we were told that due to the 19,000 mile over their criteria of 120,000 we were out of luck. I am getting so frustrated, and I am very dissatisfied. I will never purchase another GM car in my life, and I will tell all of my friends and family to never purchase a GM car again. I will never purchase another Saturn in my life either. I just wish someone would help me with this issue. It seems like whoever I talk to does not want to help. Maybe, I need to get an attorney and see what they have to say. I do not feel safe driving my car, especially with my kids. For the third time/third year in a row, I am having ignition switch problems with my 2006 Saturn Ion. I purchased my vehicle brand-new in 2006. I loved the car. But in 2010, my vehicle would not shut off. I took the vehicle to a crappy GM dealer that took 3 months to fix the problem. I paid $300 to get the ignition chamber switched out. In 2011, I had another problem. I couldnt take the key out of the ignition. Luckily, since it was within one year, they fixed the problem under parts warranty. Now, 4/11/2012, I couldnt turn my vehicle off again and was late to work trying to remove the key. I had to leave the car running, and my husband drove to my job, got in the car, drove it home, and had to remove wiring to shut it off. I called Saturn Customer Care and have to take the vehicle into the nearest dealership. I have to pay for the diagnostic, and so on and so forth. I am upset. This is ridiculous. Once this problem is fixed, I am trading in my vehicle; someone else can deal with this problem. I want to know if I can sue. I will even settle for them just buying the car back from me, so I can buy a new car. I just cant deal with the headaches, time, and money anymore. Anyone with these issues, I suggest calling Saturn Customer Care at 1-800-553-6000. You shouldnt have to pay out of pocket.

On 06/13/2014 after coming down a steep hill, car would not down shift. Once the car did down shift, came to a stoplight and car began a jerking motion. When tried to drive the car, it started a grinding noise. Once I got the car to a parking lot it would not move in any gear not even into manual mode. Once it was at the GM dealer I was told that it was suggested that I get a new transmission at the cost of $4500.00 - not going to happen. I called the GM headquarters and set up a claim to see if it is under recall. I am in on the lawsuit.

I purchased a 2007 Saturn Outlook two years ago. During this time, my car was still under full warranty. I addressed to Saturn over and over that there was something wrong with the steering wheel; it shook and clicked. They kept saying it was fine and just some air in it. I also kept saying that there was hesitation in the engine and electrical issues, all this while it was under full warranty. They are now fixing the transmission and oil leak for the second time and also, the air bag sensor doesnt work and had not for over a year and GM is saying that they will not fix that or the broken steering column even though I have tried to have it fixed for two years. I have all my documents. Now, they are saying to go pick up the car or we have to pay for the rental because they cant help us yet and probably will not pay for the steering column or air bag sensor. This car has been a lemon since I bought it and I owe a lot on it and for the past week, I have been trying to get GM to fix those two items.

2005 Saturn Ion 2: Along with my ignition switch failing, my power steering regularly going out while driving down the freeway, and my driver-side window not working, my key is now stuck in the on position with the car running. I popped the clutch to turn it off and disconnected the battery. I ordered a new ignition cylinder and plan to replace when it arrives. I agree with the majority of the community that there are far too many problems with particular parts for a recall not to be made. Im elated for the day I can rid myself of this car. Its been nothing but continual problems. My Honda on the other hand has nearly the same miles and not one problem in 5 years.

My head just might explode!!! We bought our 2008 Saturn from a certified dealer about 3 years ago. The vehicle had just about 30K miles on it at the time. Shortly after purchasing the vehicle, we noticed that the engine light would come on and the service StabiliTrak light would come on. I obviously brought it back to the dealership, as it was under warranty at that time, and they said they figured out the problem and sent us on our way. Of course, no sooner did I pull out of the shop, and they light came on again. So, back we went...they said they repaired it. Sure enough, it did it again and they eventually came to the conclusion it was just a stupid sensor and everything was actually fine!Fast forward to December 2013 and the POS starts acting up. The transmission light came on and I panicked. My brother-in-law suggested we just try putting in more fluid and see if that helps. We did...it helped for about 2 days. And then...HELL BROKE LOOSE!! The entire transmission was shot!! It had something to do about a wave plate and as a result, we needed to get an entirely rebuilt transmission to the tune of about $3,600!!! Literally, on the way home from the repair shop, the engine light started flashing! I immediately turned around and brought it back to the shop. They ran some tests and determined that it was likely some excess crap that just happened to pass through the sensor causing it to get triggered. Now, 8 months later, the engine light keeps going on and whenever I fill my car with gas, I have to rev the accelerator to get it to start!! It seemed to be running ok...but after the last fiasco, we didnt want to risk anything. So, I brought it into the shop. The technician find that there has been over 36K misfires from cylinder 2 and that the spark plug has seized. I leave my vehicle there and drive their 1994 Toyota Corolla with over 232K miles on it over the weekend as a loaner. (amazing how a 1994 Toyota Corolla with 232K miles is still running, but my 2008 with 92K miles on it is toast). Anyways, he said that they wanted to replace the spark plugs and then try moving the cylinder coil that had been connected to the #2 over to a different one to see if maybe the issue was just the cylinder coil and nothing more serious.I receive a call this afternoon telling me that it appears that the issue was not related to the cylinder coil and they suspect we are going to need a NEW ENGINE!!!!! Yep, thats right...A NEW ENGINE!!!! This car does not even have 100K miles on it and I am being told I need to put a NEW ENGINE in it??? After we already replaced the transmission!!! That is seriously wrong and a total load of crap!!It appears that both the transmission and the engine are well-known problems for this model and year of vehicle!! I guess 2007s are experiencing the same troubles!! If you look online you can see discussion board after discussion board all discussing these same issues. Saturn needs to stand up and take responsibility for producing a faulty product!!! There is no reason I should have to put in over $10K worth of repairs on a vehicle with less than 100K miles on it!! It is disgraceful!!!

My 3 vehicles were on the recall list. I currently have the Chevrolet and the other two cars were sold. During the first year of purchasing these vehicles, I incurred problems with each of them. The vehicles would sporadically start/stall on me and my son. We both experienced being stranded at work, in parking lots or while running errands. My son worked late hours and in the City of Detroit. He had to sit and wait for my husband to come from Commerce Township to W. 8 Mile-Detroit. Needless to say, those occurrences were frightening and very unsafe. On a number of occasions, my husband had to jump start the both of us.We replaced 3 batteries and that did not fix the problem. After towing the vehicles from repair shops to the dealership, the service dept. told me, the 2002 Oldsmobile Alero needed an ignition switch/cylinder and new key fob. The car worked fine after that. Then, I had to replace the ignition switch on the 2008 Saturn LS. The 2005 Chevrolet Impala was serviced upon the recall notice. My complaint is, I spent money for ignitions on both vehicles before the recall and General Motors denied my claim for reimbursement. There should be a class action suit for customers who experienced the same circumstance.

Christmas Day 2014 will go down as a bummer day. Car had just passed 100,600 miles just in the past few days. Well, Christmas Morning my 2008 Aura XE V6, which had never really given me any problems with the exception of some minor problems with all the door lock and some other minor problems, decided to have transmission problems and stopped working. I was driving and all of a sudden found a strange noise and immediately parked the car. I at least made it to my brothers house and was able unloaded the Christmas presents. But when I tried to back up the transmission would not function, any gear I put it in, and it did not work. Eventually I was able to get assistance from family, and was able to get it into neutral and push the car down the driveway. At this point no engine light had come on or any warning of a problem at all. The car would not change gears normally. I then was able to park the car for a bit and then find someone to follow me to the dealer in Southern California. The Authorized Saturn Service Provider I have taken the car to for years. They called me back two days later and came back with a $3800 price tag for a new transmission replacement option. I was given by my brother a note that he had read of a recall on a Saturn Cabling problem with a transmission, but when I put my VIN number on the GM Site to check for recalls it did not appear. Well, my alternatives are slim to none, when it comes to the replacement as I have investigated other places to do the work and they tell me that there is a part that needs replacing and it alone is $1200.00 all by itself. I have always been a strong supporter of Saturn products in the past. Have had 3 Saturn vehicles over the years and have held them for at least 4-5 years each. This one was a doozy. I just want to let anyone out their know that if you have similar problems it is a costly one and probably not worth fixing. I plan on seeing if there are any other remedies I can pursue with whatever agency regulates car mfg. A very disappointed Saturn owner. Also, I cant believe this was not a safety concern for V6 vehicles.

We have had our 2005 Saturn Ion for three years. Nothing but problems! Two months into owning the car, I was leaving to take my daughter to school and the security light came on and would not let me start my car. It took ten minutes to start. I had the ignition replaced and only two months later, it happened again. I took it in again and they told me they didnt see any problems with it. I took it home and now, we have programmed ourselves to leave the house 10-15 minutes earlier to make sure the car will start. Right now, at this very moment, my car will not start. It has not started at all today, I tried numerous times but nothing. When I turn the key, the security light flashes and the engine light comes on too. The dealership doesnt have any open appointments till Tuesday and now are down to one car. Starting tomorrow, I will get to wake my children up at 4am to take my husband to work in Roseville. Ridiculous! How can a dealership be able to stay in business selling faulty vehicles and never have to recall any of the major, not to mention, extremely dangerous problems? An attorney, class action lawsuit? Enough is enough. Maybe after that, then maybe GM will actually do their job and fix the problems that obviously exist.

I love this Saturn, shes 2008 Saturn Aura. Its the same for me. I own a 2006 Saturn Ion where the ignition locked, and I couldnt stop my car. The only way to stop it was to stall it. It was 11 pm. No garage is open at that time. I made a complaint to GM. They called me and said to go to a dealer to see if its not related to the power steering because they have a recall on that and of course at my own expense. I already know that its not so its going to cost me over $100 just to confirm that sorry, its not related to that. They told me to call us back if its not and well see if we can help you. Im a single mom, I dont have $600 to get my car fixed because after reading all the reviews, it seem to be a very expensive repair. So please go on GM/Saturn and make a complaint. Maybe they will make recalls about it if everyone makes them aware of the problems because at first I called a few dealers and they all seem to be very surprised at this problem. I have been bitten by the Saturn transmission failure beast! Everything was fine for the two years we had owned the vehicle, until last Sunday. When she finally made it to work, she had no reverse to get into her parking spot. I went and retrieved the vehicle and went right to the repair shop. As I walked into the door, the service man said, transmission problems? I said, Yes, how did you know? He said the it was a known issue on the Saturns and GM does not stand behind the vehicle. I will be responsible for the repair, which would be a complete transmission overhaul (cost $3,200)!I am very upset that GM refuses to help their customers on this problem! I have purchased many GM products, but if this is how I will be treated, it will be my last! I am going to begin my quest to get some assistance from GM. This is the fifth time a transmission has gone out on our 2004 Saturn Ion that we purchased brand new. The last one was a year and six months ago. They now refuse to fix it, only offering $5000 off a new GM vehicle if we surrender the car. Not only can we not afford a new car, but why would we want to purchase another GM vehicle when we have to fight them every time we need them to fix their mistake? We cannot trade in the vehicle for a used car because we cant get anything out of it with a broken transmission. Thats not fair for us since we didnt install the faulty variable transmission in all these vehicles. We suggested what we feel is fair: them buying the Saturn back with the Kelly Blue Book value. They refuse. They say they will not fix the car because it will continue to break (which again is their fault) and will only offer $5000 off so they can still make a profit out of us. We have had to fight them tooth and nail every time we needed the transmission fixed. All they care about is money. They have no problem selling faulty vehicles and then they dont stand behind them.

My son who just graduated and saved his money to buy his first care, brought a 1999 Saturn SL for $1000 as-is. It ran for less than 12 hours and the engine blew up. We went back to the dealer and he would not help us out at all. He said it was his problem, not the dealers problem. His first word out of his mouth was, does it have oil in it? It was really low on oil, barely showed on the dip stick we put two quarts in it and he drove it home and the next morning on his way to work, it blew a rod. We tried to get him to help us, but all he said was the car was no good to him now, so my son is out a car and $1000. Please, I just want everyone to beware of this dealer.

2004 Saturn Ion 2 - The timing chain on my vehicle broke while I was driving to work and the car was disabled. The estimated repair is $6,000, which is more than the book value of the car. The car only had 100,000 miles on it. The repairman cant even find a rebuilt engine because the Saturn engines have all had the same problem. I bought the car new and did all of the recommended maintenance on it. I had planned on driving it for a few more years. I was told that the timing chain would last the life of the car and changing it was not necessary. This was told to me by the Saturn dealer, which of course is now out of business.

My Saturn Ion 2006 wont turn off. The key is stuck in the ON position. I came home from work late last night and tried to turn my car off and the key wouldnt turn off. Because it is manual transmission, my mom just popped the clutch and killed the car so we could go to bed. I started researching this problem online and the amount of complaints is unbelievable. Why hasnt there been a recall on this issue? Can someone please tell me what it takes to prompt a recall?

Last night, I started my 2004 Saturn and when I reached my destination I could not turn my car off. I could only turn it to the ACC position, but the car was still running. After trying to resolve this issue for 2 1/2 hours, I took my car to my boyfriends house and they were finally able to shut the car off by unplugging the ignition switch plug and disconnecting the battery. We were still never able to get the key out. I have contacted several people, all of which say I need to contact GM to discuss a recall. GM has no recall issued to fix this problem for any of its vehicles and I think this is bad business. Thanks, GM!

Three months ago the key got stuck in ignition. The case around the cylinder broke and a part got stuck in the cylinder, resulting in $650 of repair. Yesterday, the key got stuck again. Now a tiny metal part that protects the tumbler springs broke. But since those parts were new, they were on warranty. The consequence is $650 of repair plus gas.

I have a 2003 Saturn Vue, which I purchased used in 2009. The transmission went out in 09 and I had to replace it. GM would only do 50/50 so I had to come up with over $2000 myself. I am now having problems with it again. It needs another replacement and I was told that the warranty on the first transmission was for 12,000 miles or one year so GM will not help with replacement. The only thing GM will do is give a small credit towards a new GM vehicle.

I am furious to find out that GM knew all along about the ignition problems with some of their cars. We bought our daughter a 2003 Saturn Ion in 2004. In less than 2 years the problems with the ignition started. It was a nightmare! She lived 800 miles away and dealt with the car not starting constantly. Sometimes the car would start then shut off and not start again for 15 or 20 mins or longer. The car died on the interstate!!! She could have gotten hit by another car! She had to call the police and they pushed her off the road onto a side road and she waited for AAA to come and haul her car over 100 miles back to her house. This all happened at night. She took the car to mechanic after mechanic to dealership after dealership trying to figure out what the fix was. Finally, a friends boyfriend did some research on the web and saw all the complaints and figured out to take the fob off. That did help but she still had problems with battery needing charged, the battery was being run down even though the car was off. A lot of electric issues. When I read about all the horrible accidents it makes me sick to think these families should not have had to suffer these losses and what could have happened to my daughter. Shameful.

Unfortunately, I have purchased a 2003 Saturn Ion when they were brand new. It felt wrong from the beginning and it has only proven my instincts correct. Within one year, the steering has failed. It will cost $1,500+ to fix this problem. The windows do not roll up or down. The ignition has locked, another fix that has cost me $600. The wiper transmission has been replaced with the upgraded metal wiper transmission. The front airbags have failed. The gas gauge works when it feels like it. This car is better off as scrap. This car is crap! Saturn is one of the cheapest autos in history! Do not buy this vehicle or you will regret it just as I do every time I look at it. It makes my stomach turn to know that the makers of this cheap car were able to get away with selling a car to the public knowing that it is a death trap!

Three months ago, I purchased a used 1995 Saturn sl2 with a manual transmission. The person I bought it from says that she replaced the transmission once already. It has 170,000 miles on it. The past few week, I have heard a light knocking from the transmission. The other day, while going down the highway, the transmission starts slipping badly. I exit and get to a light and the transmission locked up. I couldnt move my car at all, in neutral or any gear. I was less than 1/5 away from my apartment and I had to have it towed home. It cost me $85.00 for less than a 1/5 of a mile because the transmission went out again; twice in 170,000 miles.

I bought a 2002 Saturn Ion sl2 and Ive had nothing but problems. How is it that these crooks are allowed to get away with this? My ignition locked up while I was driving leaving me stranded for three hours on a busy road in 100 degree heat with no extra money for a tow truck or to get it fixed, and unable to after replacing the ignition to unlock the vehicle. I am glad that my son was not in the car with me and there was no accident as an outcome of this or GM would be hearing from my attorney. I will be getting rid of this car immediately. And the thing that irritates me the most is that NO ONE from this company cares. They care about making their money and robbing people, people like me who had to save up months to be able to purchase a vehicle hoping it would be reliable and safe to transfer my son and I from daycare, work and school. I will never purchase another vehicle through them again. Now I have to worry about how I will be repairing a vehicle I dont have money to fix and still pay my bills and find a way to work and school. Thank you so much for your poor engineering.

We have nothing but problems with our 2003 Saturn Vue. We did buy it used. We have had to replace both catalytic converters to the tune of $2400 (parts only) back in 2010. We have had to replace the oxygen sensors every 2 years. Just this past April, when the check engine light came on and once again to the mechanic, we had to shell out another $800 to replace the front catalytic converter (this was discounted due to having just replaced it 2 years ago; otherwise, it would have been doubled). Now, after replacing the gas cap for a third time because it loosens up and the engine light is still on, we have had a certified GM mechanic do all the work and he checks every time to make sure that there has not been a better fix. I am amazed, after reading all the issues that GM has not stepped up and try to restore consumers faith in their ability to fix cars, that nothing has been done. Currently, looking for a new car but I can tell you it will not be through GM since they have yet to fix the issues and their record on Saturns is proving that they are more concerned with selling more of their cars instead of fixing the current ones out there.

I noticed about a year ago that my ignition would stay on after I removed my key from the slot. I thought this was odd, but not a problem since if I turned to the off position the motor would cut as it should. In December of this year, and again in February as I drove my car along very busy streets it turned off. The wheel froze, nothing worked as I pulled the car to the right with all of my strength. I managed to coast to the side of the road and restart my car. Both times I assumed that I had somehow hit or pulled my key. Ive since (about 10 days ago) received a recall notice in the mail. I urge anyone who knows someone with such a car to take it to a repair shop as soon as possible. My experience was quite scary and potentially dangerous.

I have the same problem. I just had the recall from GM done on my 03 Saturn Ion today. They replaced the switch and ignition lock cylinder because of cars going dead because the ignition switch turned off easily with a little weight on the key ring. Accidents occurred and they were sued. This was not for and did not fix the problem of the key not turning all the way off without reaching underneath and pressing the solenoid plunger which feels like a switch (They said nothing when replacing the new switch if this ever happened then). I did not inform them of the problem either.I just found a fairly new video on YouTube that concerns this very problem. Watch the video. Long story short, the shifter micro-switch is not engaging either because of a bad switch or a bad placement fit of the switch to where the plunger of the switch is not being depressed as to close the switch and therefore allow voltage to be applied to the ignition switch solenoid, freeing the cylinder to turn off. The YouTube video title is Saturn Ion key ignition stuck wont come out (solved) manual override & troubleshoot . Search for: video ** by Danroxye01. He made a later one to better explain with audio of what he found out.

I am fed up! I bought a 2000 Saturn SL2 just a few months ago; it had 139,000 miles on it at the time of purchase. I bought it from a used car dealership which I have dealt with in the past and I have always gotten good cars from them. They check their vehicles out thoroughly before they are put on the lot for sale. Three months after purchase (and, I might add, being treated as though it were made of gold), the transmission started giving me problems with the gears not wanting to engage when shifted. I contacted the dealership, who referred me to their transmission shop. They diagnosed the problem as a defective valve body and told me that this is a common problem with Saturns. Since they replaced the said valve body, the car shifts worse than ever! It slams into reverse, it slams into second and third gear, and now I am afraid to drive it (I might also add that this car is necessary for my job). I have contacted the shop and they have agreed to look at the car again. But reading all these other complaints against Saturn, I hold very little hope that the problem can be fixed or that the dealership will continue to put out money to fix a car that, by all accounts, will just continue to give me problems. Saturn stinks, and the company should be heartily ashamed of themselves! If this transmission cant be fixed and the dealer decides not to stick any more of their money into it, I will lose my job because I cant get to work; this is the only vehicle I have. I cant afford to have it fixed on my own and I still owe about $4500 on the car.

I purchased a 2002 Saturn SL2 in 2006 from an individual who kept it as a summer car. It only had 26,000 miles on it. I drove the car and loved it. In 2011, the transmission suddenly started giving problems when the car had about 77,000 miles on it. I took it to a transmission shop and they put in a rebuilt transmission. It cost me $1,500.00. Now at 114,000 miles, that transmission is doing the same thing - clunking into gear, slipping out of gear, hesitating and then suddenly clunking into gear. I have decided to get a different car even though I love my Saturn.

On 5/30/13, I was driving home from work and turning a corner when the power steering light came on in my car. A chime went off and the message PWR STR appeared. My car then died; the wheel and brakes locked. I thought I was going to hit this mom with her two kids. I panicked and grabbed the emergency brake; jumped a curb. I had my car towed to a local shop by my house completely unaware that ** GM/Saturn is aware of the powering steering failure issue and REFUSES TO ISSUE A RECALL! $1,000 later and NO help from GM, I have no money to feed my family, missed work and almost lost my job. I am terrified beyond words to drive this **. When this happened, it had 24,698 miles on it. NEVER EVER BUY this car. Thank God they are out of business. Im hopefully getting a new car - NON-GM next week because driving any Saturn (or any GM made car from what Ive read) is a death sentence. I also plan on suing GM and contacting every NY news station I can think of and reporting this issue to every single possible place I can - BBB, NJ Lemon Law Unit, NHTSA, etc. LIVES NEED TO BE SAVED.

I have a 2005 Saturn Ion 3 that I bought new. It has been a great car. In April of 2011, I went to start my car and it would not start. I turned it off and tried to take the key out of the ignition and it would not move. It was stuck in the ignition and I could not get it to do anything. On January 4, 2012, I tried to start my car and it would not start. On the first incident, I had it towed to Firestone who has done all the work on my Saturn 2005 Ion 3 since the warranty expired. The steering wheel column had to be removed to get the key out of the ignition and the battery was replaced. On the second incident, I had it towed again to Firestone. The mechanic was able to start it. He began to research problems with Saturns and found the ignition problem. He advised me to take it to Saturn for an ignition replacement.
