Hyundai Automobile Model 2026 Hyundai Palisade

2026 Hyundai Palisade

The 2026 Hyundai Palisade is a three-row midsize SUV designed to provide a combination of comfort, space, advanced technology, and family-focused practicality. For 2026, Hyundai introduced a fully redesigned generation of the Palisade with updated styling, new powertrain options, improved interior features, and the addition of a hybrid model for the first time.

The Palisade is positioned as Hyundai’s flagship gasoline-powered SUV and competes with vehicles such as the Kia Telluride, Toyota Grand Highlander, and Honda Pilot. It offers seating for up to eight passengers and a wide range of luxury features in higher trims.

Overview

The 2026 Palisade is larger and more refined than previous versions. Hyundai redesigned the vehicle with a stronger focus on passenger comfort, advanced safety systems, and improved efficiency. The SUV maintains its reputation as a family-friendly vehicle with a spacious cabin and flexible seating arrangements.

Drivers can choose between traditional gasoline power and a new hybrid system that improves fuel economy while increasing total output.

Engine and Performance

The standard engine in the 2026 Palisade is a naturally aspirated V6.

Engine specifications include:

• Engine: 3.5-liter V6.
• Horsepower: about 287 hp.
• Torque: about 260 lb-ft.
• Transmission: 8-speed automatic.
• Drivetrain: front-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive.

This engine provides smooth power delivery and enough strength for highway driving and towing.

The Palisade can tow up to approximately 5,000 pounds, allowing owners to pull trailers, boats, or small campers.

Hybrid Powertrain

For the first time, Hyundai introduced a hybrid version of the Palisade.

Hybrid specifications include:

• Engine: 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder.
• Electric motors integrated into the transmission.
• Combined system output: about 329 horsepower.
• Combined torque: about 339 lb-ft.

The hybrid system is designed to improve both performance and fuel efficiency. Hyundai estimates that the hybrid model can achieve over 30 mpg on the highway and offer a driving range approaching 619 miles on a full tank.

Hybrid models have a slightly lower towing capacity of about 4,000 pounds.

Acceleration and Driving Performance

Performance varies depending on the powertrain.

Typical performance estimates include:

• 0–60 mph around 8 seconds for the V6 model.
• Approximately 6.6 seconds for the hybrid version.

The vehicle emphasizes smoothness and ride comfort rather than aggressive performance. The suspension system is tuned to absorb bumps and maintain stability during long drives.

Interior and Passenger Space

One of the strongest aspects of the Palisade is its spacious interior.

The SUV offers:

• Seating for seven or eight passengers depending on configuration.
• Available second-row captain’s chairs.
• Large panoramic sunroof on higher trims.
• Premium leather upholstery in luxury models.

Higher trims such as Calligraphy models include upscale features such as heated and ventilated seats, massage functions, and high-quality interior materials.

Interior space measurements include:

• Passenger volume around 181 cubic feet.
• Cargo space about 19 cubic feet behind the third row.
• Maximum cargo capacity around 86 cubic feet when seats are folded.

This makes the Palisade practical for family travel, road trips, and hauling large cargo.

Technology and Infotainment

The 2026 Palisade includes a variety of modern digital features.

Technology highlights include:

• 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
• 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
• Wireless smartphone connectivity.
• Navigation with real-time updates.
• Multiple USB-C charging ports throughout the cabin.

Higher trims may also include:

• Head-up display.
• premium sound systems.
• digital rearview mirror.
• remote parking assistance.

These features improve convenience and connectivity for drivers and passengers.

Safety and Driver Assistance

The Palisade includes Hyundai’s advanced driver-assistance technology.

Key safety systems include:

• Forward collision avoidance assist.
• Lane-keeping assist.
• Adaptive cruise control.
• Blind-spot monitoring.
• Rear cross-traffic alert.

Many trims also include advanced highway driving assistance that can help maintain lane position and speed during long highway trips.

Dimensions

Approximate exterior measurements include:

• Length: about 199.4 inches.
• Width: about 78 inches.
• Height: about 69.5 inches.
• Wheelbase: about 116.9 inches.

These dimensions make the Palisade one of the larger vehicles in the midsize three-row SUV segment.

Trim Levels

The 2026 Palisade lineup typically includes several trims such as:

• SE.
• SEL.
• XRT.
• Limited.
• Calligraphy.

Higher trims include more luxury features, upgraded materials, and additional technology.

Pricing

Estimated starting prices vary depending on trim and equipment.

Typical pricing ranges include:

• Base models starting around the low forty-thousand-dollar range.
• Mid-level trims reaching the mid forty-thousand range.
• Luxury trims such as Calligraphy approaching or exceeding fifty-eight thousand dollars depending on options.

Actual pricing varies depending on configuration, drivetrain, and optional features.

Overall

The 2026 Hyundai Palisade continues to be one of the most comfortable and feature-rich three-row SUVs available in its price range. With its spacious cabin, family-friendly design, strong safety features, and the addition of a hybrid powertrain, the Palisade aims to offer a well-rounded package for families and long-distance travelers.

The redesigned model improves efficiency, adds modern technology, and maintains the practicality that helped make the Palisade a popular choice among midsize SUVs.

I have never, in my life, been treated so rudely. Their customer service rep hung up on me. I thought she had all the information that she needed and gone to find out. The next day when I was expecting my paperwork to be where it was supposed to, it was not. So when I called back the next day, upset that my paperwork had not been transferred, the rep on the phone was once again rude. The rep promised my paperwork would be there in 1-2 hours, and it was never done on time. Not only is this now costing me money, but I was treated horribly as well. And with an interest payment of 20% on a car, they should invest money in training their reps.

I bought a brand new Tucson 2016. After I drove it for less than 800 miles the Check Engine light came on. I took it to the dealer and was told a pin fell inside the engine and broke it. Dealer offered to replace the engine. Because it was a new car I refused. So, after a lengthy fight Hyundai finally agreed to give me another new Tucson. Phew... wait, I am not done yet. 2 weeks later I took delivery of the new Tucson and guess what? 1200 miles later, the car just stalled and would not start as I was driving in the middle of the highway. Now that was scary, in the middle of the highway at night! Luckily there was a state trooper nearby who was able to redirect traffic around my car while I waited for a tow truck. I had the car towed back to the dealer. After looking into it for about 2 weeks, they finally called me to tell me there was another problem with the engine and it could not be repaired. Again, Hyundai has offered to send a replacement engine. This time I refused and am currently fighting them for my money back. Consumer beware of the 2016 Tucson, they are junky.

2013 Hyundai Tucson Engine Failure @ 125,000 miles - Lower end rod bearing failure with no warning, no check engine light and all service has been done as required. Im getting a new engine for $7000 plus, I cant buy a new car for that price, includes labor which is nearly 1/3 of the cost. Im questioning any further purchases of a Hyundai product. This has happened in several other Hyundai vehicles but no class action as yet.

Hi all. I purchased my new Sonata in 2012. I have had 4 radios installed and 1 antenna. I have had the car in the dealer more times than I should have for a new car. I need a new radio again at 89000 kms. The first 4 were covered as the antenna was. Now they say I am not covered anymore as mileage is over the warranty. My dealer had told me it would be covered for the time I own the car as it is an ongoing problem. Well thats not the case according to Hyundai Canada. The radio I am told is $4000.00. I have had 9 lights replaced as they keep blowing after time. Hyundai says this is normal???I now have a recall about the engine but the dealer said they (Hyundai) dont have the parts available yet to fix the car. The car stalls out at any given time even on the highway. This has been very dangerous and I have had close calls trying to get to the side of the road. I just spent one hour and four min. on hold with customer service and still waiting to speak to someone. I will Never purchase another Hyundai ever. If anybody has the same issues I would like to read about them. Thanks.

We decided to switch to Ford and turn in our leased Hyundai five months early. We were aware of the $400.00 disposition fee Hyundai. We paid all remaining lease payments, the car had only 19500 miles and was in as new condition. 3 weeks after the transaction, we get a bill from Hyundai for $2,200.00. As it turns out, the residual value is out the window, they took the car to auction and sold it for $1000.00 less. After hours on the phone with Hyundai Finance, we got nowhere. All they said was Its in the contract. Yeah its there but you need a law degree to understand it.Their bill did not include our check for the final 5 payments which they acknowledged receipt, but even gave us a hard time when I ask for a new bill reflecting this payment. It appears we still have to pay them $795.88. Do yourself a favor. Either dont lease a car from any company who charges these fees, or bring your lawyer to when you pick up your car. For our part we will NEVER buy another Hyundai.

Worthless Warranty. My 2012 Hyundai Genesis engine broke a piston rod and punched a hole in the block. I had just had the oil changed and the engine was full of oil. But because I didnt have the oil changed at a Hyundai dealership, Hyundai America claimed I didnt have any oil in the engine and denied my warranty claim. This was with 45,000 miles on the engine. Nothing I could do would change their mind. If they say no, thats it regardless of their warranty. What a lousy company!!!

I have a santa fe sport and sonata purchased within 1 year of each other. There have been several warranty issues on both cars. The company is horrible to deal with. MOst recently I called the company because of the issues I had with the dealership and they were no help because the dealerships are all independent, but the next closest dealership is over 1 hour away and you have to go to a dealer for warranty issues. When I spoke to their customer service about rental reimbursement for warranty issues, they said they do that, but dont guarantee (since it may not be a warranty issue and they dont know for sure until the car is fixed). I asked if there was a certain type of car I needed to rent and they said no and said it would be ok to get something similar to the car I own and that would be considered when issuing reimbursement. So I got a mid size SVU rental because I have a santa fe sport and then they would only reimburse about half of what I paid. If they would have been up front with me and said, the max we reimburse is $** then I would have tried to find a cheaper rental. So my warranty repair cost me over $200 in rental fees.

We bought a 2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. I only get 34 MPG on the HWY. The mileage reimbursement is nothing short of insulting. I was blatantly lied to by my salesman when I purchased my car. I was very much bothered that the hybrid does not have a spare tire, so much that I considered walking away! But my salesman said, If you get a flat, we will bring you a tire and YOU GET FREE TIRES FOR FIVE YEARS. I replied, Is there a mileage limit on getting the new tires? Salesman: No mileage restrictions, free tires for five years. ABSOLUTE LIE!! I called the service department recently and the woman practically laughed at me! And last, I called the previous Mercedes Benz dealership that I bought a car from in 2002 (WHERE TRUE CUSTOMER SERVICE LIVES). Turns out the 100,000/10-yr warranty that we paid $1,995 for, cant be transferred which dramatically reduces the resale value!! Not only did the company lie about the MPG but the dealership lied as well!! I will never buy another one!

My wife hit a concrete light pole base. The body damage was about 2500 dollars but the air bag light came on and white powder was in the car which meant the airbag went off but did not deploy the bag. The insurance company said, You need an airbag and any parts needed to repair it right even though it did not deploy to help stop my wife from moving forward. The car is a 2004 Sonata GLS with 66,000 miles on it as of July 5, 2014 the day of the accident. Hyundai said it is out of warranty but I said this is a device that will only work during an accident. They basically said too bad. The cost was over $3000.00 to replace the bag, seat belt and all the bells and whistles that make the bag NOT DEPLOY. The car is a total loss because of the air bag cost and why would I want to install a new bag that may or may not deploy. Hyundai recalled other year air bags like 2003 and 2006 but my 2004 is not included yet I have read many complaints of non--deploying. Do not trust air bags as a safety item and it doesnt matter what car. Use the seat belt and pray, lol. My car is a total loss but a friend wants to buy it as it has 66,000 miles on it and I am anal when it comes to doing everything the dealer wants you to do and when to do it. I will not buy another Hyundai but I do wish it would have made the recall list so if you have this problem report it to NTSD (NATIONAL TRANS SAFETY PLACE NOT SURE OF THE ACRONYM). Thats all folks. Trust no one.

After driving my car for only 20 months the engine started to make a ticking noise & now my warranty claim is denied for lack of receipts & sludge. I am highly upset because I have to pay for a car that no longer works at the same time continue to pay for a warranty that denies my claim. What really is the point of purchasing a warranty if they are going to deny you? Now be that as it may I had this same problem before with a previous car I owned but did not have a warranty on it. All the reason why I purchased a warranty this time. What is up with all these used cars breaking down after 20 to 30,000 miles driving it? So I got a warranty on the Hyundai as part of my payment plan. The worst part about this deal is that Hyundai sold me a warranty that has been denied because of supposedly sludge build up in the car. I gave them a total of the latest 3 receipts I had. I sent them the stickers that the service men place on the corner of your driver side window for every time I had an oil change, dating back to when I first got the car to prove I actually did have the car worked on. And yet I am still denied. It really sucks. I pay my notes on time and have my car maintenance all the time. I was not even aware I had to keep my receipts for the warranty to even be used. They are not at all loyal to their customers. In talking to them they all will say they understand but cant do nothing for you, while they are still charging you for a lemon they sold you. America needs to make a law behind this. If a claim gets denied they should at least discontinue the contract seeing as they cant do anything for it if they obviously deny you. I also believe that all cars should be refinanced to the bluebook value if something as tragic as an engine or transmission breaks down.

We purchased a new 2011 Hyundai Sonata in 2012 from the dealership. We actually purchased it for our college students, however, my husband and I liked it so much that, we gave them one of our other cars to drive instead, and kept the Sonata for ourselves. We have told many people how much we liked the value of the Sonata, in price, appearance, reliability and gas consumption. Because we liked it so much, we decided on another Hyundai, and bought a beautiful 2014 black Hyundai Genesis. We have honestly been considering an additional purchase of another Hyundai Sonata for our youngest son. However, our glowing opinion has been cut short. At 98,000 miles, the Sonata began making funny knocking sounds. We took it into our trusted mechanic, and he tested everything, including codes and found nothing. Nor did the knocking continue while he was testing. So I could not recreate the issue. We went on our merry way, oblivious to the impending disaster. At 106,000 miles, the Sonata began stalling out, with the knocking sound returning. I brought it to my husbands attention and by the next morning, when we went to take it to the mechanic, the car would not make it. The engine kept stalling. We took it to the mechanic and he did his diagnostics and announced the engine was shot and he could either replace or we could have it towed to Hyundai dealership to see what they could do with it, possibly offer some assistance. We had it towed to the dealership, and they announced that they would have to submit a request to Hyundai dealership - to see what could be done about a new engine. At first, the dealership said the manufacturer would do nothing to help. We went back and forth, in the hopes that they would re-consider (knowing that we were loyal Hyundai customers). Hyundai responded that if the dealership installed a used-30K mile engine, then they would not offer any discounts or warranties and that would cost us $7500. However, if they were to install a rebuilt from scratch engine, then they would install for $4500. We are heartbroken. Our Hyundai is due to be paid off in November, and now we are faced with a $4500 out of pocket expense and still waiting to hear if there is a warranty for the repair. My husband is meticulous with his cars. We have four cars - A Toyota Sequoia, Nissan Armada, a Hyundai Sonata and a Hyundai Genesis. We had hoped to add a 5th - (another Sonata for our son), but that will not be happening now. Its dishonest to not reveal this catastrophic failure on the part of Hyundai engineering. And we actually selected the Genesis over the Infiniti and Audi - comparable models. I understand there are two class action lawsuits re: the seizing of the 2011 Hyundai Sonata and other new models. If a contemporary car cannot beat the 100,000 mile test, then you should spend your money on another company, like Toyota, that will go the distance. Both our Armada and Toyotas have over 150,000 miles and still going strong and running beautifully. Good luck to anyone considering a Hyundai purchase, Im sorry to report...

So I bought out my lease for a 2017 Hyundai Elantra Value Edition. I have reported numerous times to Hyundai’s customer care team and the Hyundai case management team, about the engine problems I have been having such as oil consumption and the intermittent stalling on roadways. The intermittent stall has almost gotten me into an accident numerous times and I almost got killed at an intersection from it stalling. I have brought my vehicle in into dealerships for inspection and servicing. Hyundai USA does nothing about it and simply brushed me off. Currently I have been out of a vehicle for over a week now since the check engine light came on and I am having problems with the ECM. My vehicle is at 104000 miles and the problems started at 70k miles. I have been in and out of mechanic shops to get it fix and it still has problems. I have requested to Hyundai underpins times that it needs a new engine and they just ignore my complaints and requests. If you are looking into purchasing a car I would never look at a Hyundai for the safety of yourself and your family. Please look elsewhere. I’m still making payments on a non working piece of junk. Please don’t be a victim. Look elsewhere.

I bought a car from Hyundai in 2018 Of September. I have had this car for not even 7 months. Bought it with 7k miles on it and I’ve never missed a payment and was always a valued customer with my parents always owning one too. So when I bought the vehicle it had no recalls on it, one day I saw something online about recalls so I ran my vin to see if my car was part of the recall and it was and the recall was for the ECM, so I taken my car to Hyundai in Manassas, Virginia and got the recalled fixed. They told me all is good and my car is ready to go.Two weeks later my car goes into limp mode and won’t go over 20 miles a hour, I called the dealership nearest to me and asked them to take my car in and the one I called was Hyundai in Woodbridge, Virginia. They said they would not take me because my car was not purchased there, even though this fell under a warranty recall, so I called Fairfax Hyundai Virginia and they said that I could bring it in. Well I waited 4 hours for a tow truck and it finally got there and we headed to the dealership. I get there and waited 2 more hours for someone to run a test on my car to see what was wrong with it and it came back as I needed a new engine. Being told I need a new engine I was put in a rental car for about 3 months and I waited and waited and called at least once a week for an update. Felt like I couldnt get anything out of them besides, It’s still on back order.Well finally I get a call from the dealership saying I did not need a new engine, and all it was is a wiring harness. So I waited 3 months thinking I was getting a new engine and all I got was a new harness. Well finally I picked up my car that day they called. Returned the rental and I was heading home down I-95 in Virginia going 70 down the interstate my car completely shuts down on me and wouldnt turn back on. So I was able to safely pull over with my niece in the car with me, I got to the side of the road and called them again to explain what happen. Well they asked if I could bring it back in so I did. My car then stalled out and went into limp mode 8 more times on my way 45 minutes back to the dealership.I drop the car off and the dealership ran it over the weekend and I get a call back on a Monday and they tell me they couldnt find the problem and nothing was wrong with the car. I get back in my car look at the mileage and it was exactly the same from when I brought it in, knowing that I am now mad. My wife and I with a baby in the car refuses to drive the car and I’ve had it parked at our house. After contacting Hyundai America and speaking with someone named Anthony I asked nicely for them to take this death trap away from me and he said that he would do a case for me and he would keep me updated. Well that was 2 weeks ago today, I still havent heard from him and I’ve called multiple times a day for a long time and it goes straight to voicemail. I’ve left countless voicemails and still no response. I personally would never recommend Hyundai to even my worst enemy after the experience I have had with you all and I will never own another in my life.

We have 105633 miles on the 2006 Hyundai Tucson that failed (engine overheated) in the middle of highway when my family with two small children were traveling. No warning and it was an abrupt stop. Called 911 and emergency responders pushed the car to the side. We towed to a dealer who said head gasket is blown and only fix is to replace engine. To further diagnose, the dealer needs approval from Hyundai but, Hyundai says, they will not do further diagnosis because their warranty covers only up-to 5 year and the vehicle can fail after 5 years. They insist there has not been any manufacturer recalls but, I asked them how do they know if there is no recalls if they dont diagnose? Their response was even worse than the ordeal we have gone through. We were almost killed driving this vehicle. Never buy a Hyundai that can only last for 5 years and get killed.

The Hyundai headlights do no illuminate higher than 4-5 feet on level ground. Most street name signs are 6-8 feet high and cannot be seen at night. The problem is caused by the top of the light being blocked by the hood/fender overlap. High beams do work better but not by much and are dangerous to oncoming traffic. The service people say it is by design and cannot be changed. One mechanic said to add another set of lights. Why not just alter the headlight insert itself to alter the light pattern and be easy to replace the original? I am not able to see street names at night, and there is no help offered by Hyundai. I am sure I am not alone. Some of your people (much younger than me or my wife) have the same complaint. Do some elementary engineering to resolve this dangerous situation.

How can they sell a car with bad brakes. Also this car has an issue with the tire pressure sensor no matter what pressure you have. And now I am getting a fuel sensor error causing the check engine light to come on. I am scare that with the sensor for the fuel may cause issues with the fuel gauge and not knowing the amount of fuel you have such as reading 1/2 fuel and being empty. This needs to be addressed via Hyundai to repair this asap.

One major deficiency with Hyundai USA customer service is some of the Reps who answer customers questions provide wrong and misleading answer, and this could hurt and harm both customer and the company. I did get wrong answers to my questions several times. One Rep who has a clear understanding of Hyundai warranty did provide me with the correct answer after I have made several attempts until I lucked out with one customer Rep among many who resolved the issue. Hyundai dealer should also have known what is and is not covered under the warrant. Hyundai did agree that the work done should have been covered under the warrant and now the dealer will reimburse me for the charges that occurred in 2013. I do admire the fact that this particular Customer service Rep, he/she did not provide his/her name, was honest enough and put the effort to resolve the problem. I am now very satisfied with the resolution and will definitely consider purchasing another Hyundai car, assuming they invest in training the Customer Service Dept. as well as the authorized dealers on the various aspects of the 100,000/10 years warranty.

Called the la quinta car dealer to have my car serviced, and the service rep. said did not have any record of any service there. I have a invoice showing that I did, 12/21/12. r/o no. ** . After our conversation, she said that I would call at a later date to get a time for the service, and had to come in so she could get the info. The next few days I was leaving for Conroe, TX since I have been here for two weeks. I called, Wiesner auto group, I also had the car serviced at Wiesner auto, in Conroe TX. and went on a recorder and left a message, that I wanted to get a appointment to have the car serviced. I have still waiting for a call back, I purchased this car, from a very good friend that owns the dealership in Temecula CA. thinking that this was a good buy. I am now having second thoughts, about service? Also owning a Hyundai?

I just leased a new Sonata. And after the deal was final and I took possession of the car. 6 days later, I was contacted by Hyundai finance (Kevin) at the dealership. I was told I needed to come back in because they made a mistake with the bank rate and the residual was too low. I was told my payment was going to go down 5 dollars and the residual was going to go up 2700. I was also told once I got to the dealer that I was entitled to a Platinum Bram Auto Protection plan for the length of my lease. When I asked why I was getting this I was told for the inconvenience and its just how the new numbers work out. After signing the NEW contract, I was called yet again 5 days later to come back to the dealer, that there was a mistake made again, and they did not take into consideration the 21M miles that I originally needed and had in the deal. When I went back the finance guy and the GM had me in the finance room and I was told they need to either raise my payment, or take away the miles and the protection plan. I said I already have a signed contract, plates, keys... Etc. for 2 weeks. He told me if I did not sign, I would not get a payment book and it would be like I have a stolen vehicle.I left the dealership in complete despair. I have never been strong armed and treated like this. I told him, he was threatening me and that I have a legal contract. He said, Go see your lawyer, that contract is void. He wants me to sign a different deal than the one I have and give back everything that they have in my contract. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT I NEED TO DO TO KEEP THE CONTRACT THAT I WAS GIVEN AS WRITTEN, AND THE CAR.

My husband is in the military. We contacted Hyundai about applying the SSRA (Soldiers & Sailors Relief Act). When they applied this they lost 5 of my payments. I spent weeks trying to get this corrected. I have been treated like a criminal, talked nasty to, and demanded I pay my past due balance. If you pulled their statements online, it showed every payment, the payment history though, disappeared. They required me to send them proof that I had made all these payments. I had to go to the bank, and stamped copies of the electronic transactions. Then, they almost didnt even accept the bank statements. Finally, after going through several people, they corrected the payments by the end of January. When they corrected my payments, we lost the SSRA. So, I called in again on 2/8/12, and spoke to a manager about the SSRA. They assured me, and promised me that this would be corrected by the weekend. Well, it is the weekend, and once again, my payments, since September, have disappeared yet once again. They are saying I owe over $2,000, and I am not even sure they got the SSRA applied correctly. David in California is the only person in the entire company they say that can apply the SSRA. Really? For a company this large? They see they are trying to reverse my payments once again. Heres a new problem, they are now showing 90 days late on our credit report, and mind you, my husband is an active military, and this could cost him his career. I have requested letters 3 times from Hyundai, that this is no fault of my own, and the matter has been corrected. It is always they dont do letters, but will forward to the correct department. I am at my wits end, and have never paid any payment late. I have worked for my credit very hard, and it is not fair that a company can just mess up your account, and you pay the price.

This is my second winter with the Sonata. Whenever I put the heat or defroster on, I begin to choke and cough. There is something coming from the vents that is poisoning me. This also happens when the car is hot in the summer and I put the air conditioning on. Hyundai says it is my imagination. I think there is something in the duct work outgassing. Im about ready to go the CPSC. Other issues are the cheap tires, front cowling that is too low to part at most curbs and bumpers. BUT THE CHOKING IS GOING TO KILL ME. HYUNDAI ARE YOU OUT THERE???

I have a 2013 Hyundai Sonata that I purchased brand new in December 2012. It just hit 36,000 miles. I am having a serious concern about the rust and corrosion under the hood of the car meaning all of the metal clamps and motor mount are rusted, also the strut bolts are corroded. The metal on the power steering hose is rusted, the undercarriage is rusted at the weld points. I have had the car back to the Hyundai dealer three times now. Each time they have stated that they have sent pictures to the regional manager. I did speak with the regional manager recently and he said that he never received any pictures so I dropped the car off again to have pictures taken. This made the 3rd time that it had been dropped off. I am hoping for a positive result. The tech stated that this was not normal and ask if my car was at the shore points a lot. I dont live near the shore.

I am another person tricked by this dealership with the $50 test drive promotion. The salesman on site confirmed that the dealership does participate in the promotion AND he welcomed me to take part. He said that he, himself, received the $50. The salesman proceeded to say that he needed to take a copy of my drivers license. He also took my name and email address. He showed me a car on the lot but did not take me for a test drive. He said he had what he needed from me and his manager would process the promotion by the next day. I was supposed to receive it in an email. After nothing happened I asked the manager and it was obvious they never had any intention of following though on promises. First the manager told me that I was not eligible because the promotion was only good for one person in each household. Of course that made no sense because no one in my household ever took part. Then he decided on another bogus excuse and said that the terms and conditions of the promotion allowed him to not participate. This is AFTER they TOOK my information under false pretenses. They took a copy of my ID. They took my email address. And since then, they have had the nerve to use my email address to send me junk email!! What they DID NOT DO is what they promised. As another person commented, it is obvious their word does not mean much. Be careful of this place. Its hard to tell what these guys are up to?? Better to stay away!

I bought a 2011 Hyundai Sonata last year in April 2015. I bought it used with about 89k miles on it. Up until Sep. 25th 2016, the car has been working perfectly. But about a week before that date, I noticed how badly the car was burning up oil. I was putting a quart in it every week because it would read low. On the 24th, I was driving with my 1 year old in the car and all the sudden the car started making a clanking noise. Thank God I made it home that night because I wasnt sure if I would without the car breaking down. When I got home, I turned the car off and turned it back on and it just sounded terrible. Sounded as if the whole engine was falling apart. The next day, I knew I wasnt going to be able to drive it.I called Columbia Hyundai in Cincinnati and I took it there to the shop on the 28th. They discovered that my car was part of the motor recall for that model car and that my car needed a new engine. It is now Nov. 9th 2016 and my car still has not been fixed. Its been in the shop for 6 weeks now. They still have a car in their shop from July that hasnt gotten a motor. I just got off the phone with them and they said it will maybe be the 1st week of December when they start getting motors. Shouldnt they have started mass producing these motors knowing there was a recall on the engine for thousands of cars? Makes no sense to me. Thankfully, Hyundai is 100% paying for the new motor and the rental car I am using. However, I am still making a payment every month on a car I do not have and I have asked Hyundai to reimburse me for this and they refuse to do so. Not very satisfied with Hyundai right now.

I purchased a 2012 Hyundai Sonata in May 2015. 3 weeks after purchasing I began feeling a weird vibration and jerk when accelerating and braking. The violent jerk would worsen and I took it to get an transmission flush and the jerking stopped. Weeks later the jerking began again. It did this in and off about 2 times in 3 months. I took it back to the dealer who had 3 different repair shops who looked at the vehicle and determined it was transmission failure. I received notice a few days later informing me that my model of 2012 Sonata was upon those being recalled for engine failure as well. On top of all this Im moving to California in 3 weeks and desperately need reliable transportation. I will never buy a Hyundai again and am switching back to Nissan. Whatever you do when you buy a Hyundai, carry Emergency Roadside with your insurance company. DO NOT RELY ON THIS PIECE OF CRAP SERVICE! Especially when it comes to your safety! Locked keys in car, as well as money, credit cards, and of course, cell phone. Only had new Accent about 4 months, decided she has it out for me. Ive never had such bad luck with any of the possibly 20 cars Ive owned. Im not here to write all my complaints about this gas guzzling, gutless, cheap economy car. But the 800 # on the window? Scrap it off and toss it. Wont do any good, unless you have your phone, flashlight, eyeglasses, and nothing better to do than stand in the rain, at night, in a sketchy hood in the dark fighting off bums for almost three hours. I dont care what youve heard about Hawaii and Aloha spirit! Most Local People HATE ** people and do not like to be bothered by us in time of need, no way no how. Ive lived here many years and can tell you Aloha is a farse, like, an honest politician. Kid at gas station did NOT appreciate my asking to use the business phone for an emergency, then called number on car door, was still daylight so could read vin #. Took forever to answer all the questions, then the customer service guy said he needed callback #. Told him I didnt have one available, the business phone was not happening, and my phone is locked in car. I was very descriptive of my location, no callback # available but was assured, within an hour??? I would be assisted but need to stay by car. So hour and a half go by, no one. I reluctantly asked kid to use phone again, called 800 # again, they had no record of my first call, so again they want my vin #, dark now cant see it, my name, phone #, email address couldnt find my ownership anywhere, they need a call back #, Im pissed at this point. They would not be able to promise help without callback #. So tried to break out back window, kid from gas station finally feeling sorry for poor 60 yr old woman in the rain and the dark, assisted me with calling a nearby locksmith. Almost 3 hrs later and $250 cash!!! Not even gonna bother with asking for any refund, ya already know theres fine print somewhere excluding the hardship I went through. So, because the car is crap, roadside service is crap, warranty will be crap when I tell em to shove the $60, less than 1000 mile, every three month oil change, without even so much as a vacuum job. Wait til they see the back window I tried to bang out with a rock! Screw it. Crappy car. Crappy service.

I was driving my 2007 Hyundai Entourage on my way to work when suddenly my driver side airbag deployed. I was not able to see for few seconds which caused me to hit a tree on the passenger side. Note: The front passenger side got the major damage, however its airbag didnt deployed on impact against that tree. My driver side has no damage at all. Luckily it was only me driving and none of my children were with me that day. Luckily the accident happened in my subdivision which is only around 15 mph drive. Had this happened in the highway, it could have caused more damage and probably fatality. 2 questions here: Why would my driver side airbag deploy all of a sudden at a low speed, driving straight on a smooth/dry road in a subdivision? And why didnt the passenger side airbag deploy on impact with that tree? Had one of my children been with me sitting in the front passenger seat, he or she could have gotten seriously hurt - the airbag wouldnt have been there to protect them from serious injuries. We love our minivan and never have any major problems with it since we bought it. It only has around 150,000 miles. This is a MAJOR SAFETY concern that the company Hyundai should address.

Hyundai says its road noise but I know the difference. Its a lot quieter in my wifes Juke than in the Palisade. I think the door is to light weight so air noise seeps through. Hopefully Hyundai will find a fix for this. Its probably the only reason so far I would not keep this vehicle.

My husband and I bought a 2015 Hyundai sonata and back in June, I locked my keys in the car and called their roadside assistance and a man came out to get into the car. Well he did alright, causing over $1600.00 and I got a big run around concerning it. He also damaged my sisters 2015 Hyundai sonata as well causing over $1200.00. When she contacted Hyundai about it, they told her to contact the private companys insurance about it. She did and was told too bad. At the time of service, no one knew the guy seemed to be intoxicated, informing my sister and myself they called him away from a poker game. Well, they sent me a check for a little over $1300.00. As to date, my sister never received a dime. As for Hatfield Hyundai or any other Hyundai for that matter, we are done. This was not our first Hyundai (brand new) but our 3rd on and I might add the night we walked in and bought this new we also sold two more for them that night. My sister and her daughter bought one too. I will not because Im still having issues when I apply the brake or just to accelerate. I feel a weird shimmy and took it back in, they say thats normal. Well if it is, how come I never felt that on the other brand new ones we bought? I took the Sonata for a seat belt recall last Friday and had the worst service ever. Now receiving e-mail from service manager because he covered a tub of paint on bumper and hood, and the side step panel is coming loose. So he emails me concerning my ratings on a survey, telling me how bad my ratings hurt him. Really? Now he says hes paying for both services when the car is still under warranty. That piece has been loose for a long time and I was busy trying to some results on the damages done to my sisters and mine cars. Buyers Beware. If you want a new Hyundai go to DESSIS, they at least care about your needs.

I can create a quote online for a 2012 Hyundai Elantra Limited. It has a black exterior, beige interior with the tech package and without the cargo net, cargo tray, floor mats, ect. When I asked the dealership, they never have these. They refused to order it, stating Hyundai does not take request. Additionally, all the cars on their lot have the crap I do not want (cargo net, cargo tray, floor mats, etc.) This adds up to $400 worth of junk. I asked them to remove it and they wont. Shouldnt that make it a Standard Option? If that is the case, isnt that false advertisement? The website advertises something that the dealerships will not deliver. I am reporting this to the Better Business Bureau and suggest others to do the same.

I have had nothing but problems from Hyundai since I bought my SUV in December 2017. Blue Link is a joke. BTW there is no one at Corporate Headquarters over Blue Link. Customers are subjected to whatever decisions are made concerning problems by whichever Supervisor is working that day. NO ONE ever owns the problem. NEVER give this company access to any of your bank accounts. They will charge what they please. THE WHOLE HYUNDAI CORPORATION is a joke!!! They changed policy about making one time payments WITHOUT ANY notice to the customer. I changed from electronic bills to paper bills so I can mail my payment in to them rather than pay a fee from Western Union to make a one time payment. Since they are NOT trustworthy on having access to your checking account, I will not give them the ability to access my account!!! I detest this company!!!

I own two Sonatas, an 03 and an 08. Originally, the airbag light came on for the 03 around 140,000 miles and it was the passenger seat sensor. I eventually just got another seat from a salvage yard. Now, my 08 light is on and it too is the passenger seat causing the problem. This seems to be an ongoing issue with Hyundai (not just the Sonata). As the end user, we should have the ability to turn these things off. Unfortunately, in Virginia, we have annual inspections and if the light is on, it fails and you cant drive the vehicle. Im only complaining and realize my car is out of warranty.

Hyundai is comfortable, gives a smooth ride and handles well. It has low maintenance obligations though it has high mileage. Seats are high to support knee issues. Love the heated seats and back seat temperature control. The 3rd row seating is handy for road trips with the grand kids. The sun roof was also a must for me and the grands! I got the most amenities without an exorbitant additional cost. However, it doesnt have Bluetooth or a back up camera. I also would like a steering wheel that heated up and that the 3rd row seats are raised up higher off the floor. Theyre so low that theyre only appropriate for small children. Nevertheless, its the best vehicle Ive ever owned!

This morning, my husband goes into the garage and notices all the lights are on on the car. Headlights dash is lit up and brake lights are on. He thinks I left the lights on and goes to flip the switch, nothing, so he starts the car, turns the car off, the electrical goes off but engine continues to run with no key in the ignition. In order to shut off the car, he has to pull the fuse for the fuel pump. He then disconnected the battery, waited for an hour reconnected battery and guess what, the electrical is all lit up again with nothing and I mean nothing in the ignition. So he once again disconnects the battery and we wait.4 hrs later, I reconnect the battery, the electrical is still all lit up but now a new issue. Something caught fire under the cup holders and melted the cup holders and guess what, I am out a car. I broke the 100k yesterday. I have 3 payments left and nothing able to do about it. After reading 900 plus comments on here and googling anything similar to this, I FOUND nothing. When I called the dealership, the first thing out of their mouths was its out of warranty, the entire electrical will need to be replaced, and 3 are you sure it was the car running and not the fan... Will never ever own another Hyundai again.

I own a 2006 Hyundai Tucson that I purchased new and have been nothing but happy with it ever since. I have read many complaints at this website, many of which seem to be against local dealerships. The dealership where I take mine for service is outstanding, friendly, fair, and knowledgeable. My Tucson has required various servicing through the years, mostly all wear and tear and regular use repairs or maintenance, as all vehicles need. I am very happy with my Tucson, the original warranty, and the service and treatment I receive from the dealership. I am 65 years old and have owned various cars in my lifetime, and some of the complaints I read here describe incidents that have happened to me with other vehicle makes and models in the past. Unfortunately, occasionally things can go very wrong. The common thread in these posts seems to be issues with the local dealerships. Communication is of utmost importance from both the dealer and the consumer when there are problems with vehicles. I will close by restating that I am very happy with my Hyundai vehicle and will definitely purchase it again. I highly recommend Hyundai to others.

I purchased my 2013 Hyundai Elantra a few months ago with a remote car starter. I have had remote starters on my two previous vehicles. A remote car starter is a one-touch convenience which I depend upon specifically during the winter. The remote car starter was installed and when I picked up my new car, I was advised that in order to start the car with the remote, I must first press the lock button twice (lights will flash and horn will toot), and then press and hold the starter button. The remote is supposed to function within a range of 2500 feet. This is not a convenience. I have been able to start the car only a few times with the remote since then. Most times it does not start. If I am not close enough to the vehicle to see the lights flash or hear the horn toot, I have no idea whether it can actually be started. On occasion, I have even stood beside the car and tried to start it and nothing happens. This is absolutely ridiculous. I stopped by the dealership today and asked about having it removed. I was advised that it would cost me over $300 to have this done. Hyundai Canada has echoed this. I am furious. I want this starter removed and would have a simple one touch remote starter installed. This Hyundai remote starter is an expensive waste of my hard earned money. If I had known that this inconvenient type of remote starters was what they were installing, I would not have requested it.

We have had three Hyundai cars, the last being an I30. The first problem was paintwork on the tailgate; rust was bubbling through the paintwork. We informed the dealer. They said that it could be stone chips without even looking at the car. They requested we take the car for photographs for warranty claim so we did. We waited for information on what was happening with the claim. When we inquired about it after three weeks, they said they had no idea what we were on about. Eventually, they found the photos and resolved the issue. We werent happy with the dealer so we changed the dealer. The car broke down after having a service due to fuel waxing in the filter. The filter is meant to be covered under a 5-yr, 40,000 miles warranty. The car had only done under 19,000. After sitting in a car for three hours and losing a days work, the dealer charged GBP77.71 for changing a spin on filter. I spoke to Hyundai UK Customer Services. They werent interested in what I was trying to say, that some fuel filters have the facility to drain water from the filter or service schedules are too long as I have had services of filters at 12,000 miles and 24,000 miles. The Customer Service department was not prepared to listen and eventually tried to pacify me with reimbursement for the cost. Then I had issues with this department. I wrote a letter to the CEO of Hyundai UK. What a waste of a stamp. I received a reply from the Customer Service department. Buyer, beware. If you buy new and you need backup, be prepared for crap customer service.

Purchased a 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe in May 2013. It unfortunately came to my attention that despite what Hyundai labels as Americas Best Warranty, that this same warranty will not be honored for the repeat breakdown that also occurred in May 2014. The problem that is being referred to occurred for the first time this past May 2014. When the driver made a left turn on a side street, he heard a loud noise coming from under the car. Upon further inspection, the vehicle was not able to be driven and therefore a flat bed came and towed the vehicle to the closest Hyundai dealership, which was College Park. Once the car was able to be inspected it was determined that the rear differential case cover bolt broke off; (actually it completed sheared in half) which in turn caused damages to the passenger side axle, propeller shaft, shaft assy, and flange assy. After a few days of going between the dealership and the manufacturer it was determined that it would be covered under the warranty and they then arranged for a rental car and began to do the repairs. After a couple of weeks, the car was completed and it was driven without any further issues until the most recent incident, which occurred October 9. Once again, the driver was making a right hand turn coming out of his work-place parking lot. Again there was a loud noise and this time the car was left totally inoperable. Because of the mechanism of the defect the car had to again be placed on a flat bed and towed to the College Park Hyundai once again. Again there was communication between the dealership and the manufacturer, but this time it was determined that it was NOT going to be covered under the exact same warranty that covered it in May; definitely something that was hard to figure out; how a different opinion was made this time. If you compare the work order from both May and October, once again you will see that the rear differential case cover bolt broke off; (again, sheared in half). As you can imagine this then in turn caused damages to the passenger side axle, propeller shaft, shaft assy, and flange assy. The warranty is not going to be honored and base the defect on the operator error or something along the lines of the way the vehicle was being driven. I find it hard to determine how the exact same defect can be covered under the main warranty at one point and then 5 months later have the exact same problem occur and NOT be covered under warranty. In addition, if you look at the repair order from the May event, you will note along the side Limited Warranty; parts and labor warranted 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first. So this is yet another warranty that Hyundai is choosing not to honor. I find it very difficult that a company can come to two completely different conclusions on almost identical defects. When we called the consumer affairs division, unfortunately we were not met with the courteous of individuals. And I can’t even blame this on someone having a bad day as with every time that we have had to call the consumer affairs office to try and deal with this problem, we again were met with less than professionalism. After discussing this problem and going between many individuals, you have come to the conclusion that now you are willing to split the repairs 50/50; and we still have not been offered a rental car to use while all of this is figured out. With your latest decision is that after it does get fixed (under warranty or partly under warranty), what warranty (or will there be a warranty) is going to cover these repairs yet again. It is unfortunate that it has come to this. I am hoping that Hyundai would honor the warranty that claims to be the Americas Best Warranty and fix the vehicle. If Hyundai does not consider this under warranty, then what next?? How am I to know what Hyundai warranty they will honor and what warranty they won’t honor. It doesn’t seem fair or ethical that a business manufacturer can decide not to cover a warranty just by saying so. It is a shame that a letter such as this has to be written before Hyundai will consider a different conclusion and come to the realization that the bolt that was sheared in half yet again should and does consist of a defect covered by the warranty. Anyway, after all is said and done they refused to cover it under warranty and estimated repairs at over $6000 dollars. I will never buy a Hyundai ever again and have been telling everyone to run, dont walk as far away from a Hyundai purchase as possible. Whatever happen to the customer is always right. Thank God for Lemon Laws; we will let the courts figure it out.

Hyundai is an unethical company. I own a 2012 Hyundai Sonata. At 52,000 miles, we need a new transmission! What kind of car needs a new transmission at 52,000 miles?? The mechanic at the dealership even told us that we may have received a faulty transmission because they shouldnt need replacing at 52,000 miles. Our warranty was 2 months out of warranty so the dealership was optimistic that headquarters would still pay for the transmission and service because our car had such low miles and had so recently gone out of warranty. After the Hyundai dealership went back and forth with Hyundai headquarters, they told us they were unwilling to cover the cost of the transmission! The customer service was absolutely horrible. I have never had such a bad experience with a car company in my life. Hyundai should treat people more ethically instead of trying to squeeze me of every drop of money out of consumers they can.

I purchased my preowned car Aug 2013 at Long Island City, NY and I must say that since day one I have had many problems with it. It all started with the wheels making a very loud noise then it escalated, and all the problems were because of recalls. I tried having the dealership exchange my car, and they refused so I ended up with a lemon car then I relocated to Ithaca, and of course my engine seized, and since I have been out here my car has been in and out of the shop. I must say they all been great but I should not continue to have problems with it. Car is paid in full and its only been six years that I have this car and my experience has been the worst. My car came out the last week Monday and I drove it back to New York City, and it didnt seized or shutdown on me but it still dont drive as it should. Smh no good! I been saying it since day one that I got stuck with a lemon car even the body is not aligned smh. Single mom always stressed that I will get stuck in the middle of nowhere with my 8 yrs old daughter. Its so wrong! What a waste of my hard earned money. Im hoping to win the lottery to buy myself a new car that I can drive and enjoy it.

I purchased a new 2009 Sonata Limited 4/08. Now, it has approx. 23,500 miles. Months back, I discovered an item I now need (that was supposed to be on the car) was not there. Although I was told and given a valet key that the manual states leaving the sub key with a parking attendant will ensure that your vehicles trunk, trunk like release, glove box compartment and rear trunk access may not be unlocked in your absence, the information and manual are not correct. The valet system locks were never installed. This never came to my attention until some time back when I had major back surgery and could no longer lift items from the trunk (that cannot be secured) until I could find someone to do it for me. This means I must drive around with items in the trunk that are not secured. Hyundai Consumer Affairs has offered many excuses - such as:1. Company decided child safety hazard and stopped installing them - not correct2. The locks are there and you just need to go to the dealer and they will locate them for you. - Service Mgr & Asst. looked for them and when they could not find them told me some cars come down the line with things left off other cars of the same model. Warranty dept. then asked me to visit a different dealer to locate.3. One email reads, Your vehicle would have come with 2 keys, one that can lock/unlock the the trunk and glove box and the other to give to a valet attendant so they can park the vehicle. - I received from the dealership 3 keys - 2 regular and 1 valet with the explanation that it would do as the manual states above.4. NHTSA action number 10025822 issued 9/9/08 - four months after car purchased reads - Hyundai owners manuals for all 2009 Sonata vehicles contain incorrect information regarding sub key (valet key) operations. Until a printing revision is implemented, manuals will need to have the sticker overlays installed. No sticker overlay could have been installed as the car was purchased 4 months earlier than the bulletin date. Sales department misrepresented the car as they werent even knowledgeable about the missing locks.Theres absolutely no satisfaction from Hyundai. With my physical condition, it now looks like I will have to purchase a different make car. I believe Hyundai should work out something with me on this car. To date they have no interest.

They paid for my new motor and even for my rental car for the weeks I was without my car which is very generous and I am grateful for, however the customer service since has been terrible. My car was taken into the shop in September and was returned in November. I was told November 7th that if I sent in a picture of a monthly statement and proof of registration they would reimburse me for the months of September and October because my car was in the shop those months. I tried calling the number of the representative I was given 2-3 times a week just to get an update with no answer once. I emailed the customer service line which took 20 days to respond saying the sources of what I turned in (the exact items they asked for) were not good enough for the reimbursement to go through. It is now December 9th. I STILL have not heard from my representative and still have not heard if I will even be getting a reimbursement with what I sent in. Its just very frustrating. In addition when they replaced my motor they also replaced my BRAND NEW starter as well and will not reimburse me for that even though it was only a couple days old. Will never buy a Hyundai again.

I, myself, own a 2013 Hyundai Elantra that I adore. I used to work for Hyundai, dealing with warranty. My fiance is a Hyundai-certified technician. These cars come with a 5-year/60k miles BASIC warranty. NOT bumper to bumper like many salesmen claim. Batteries are covered 100% for 2 years, and the 3rd year is prorated. Sunroof issues WILL be covered under the 5yr/60k. Tires are not covered, but you have roadside assistance for 5 years, regardless of what you are equipped with to handle flats. My car does not have a spare, I got a flat last month, and they towed me at no charge. No questions asked. If you have a spare, obviously roadside is not needed. But be sure to maintain the spare just as you would other tires. Tires lose air with time. Light bulbs are covered 12 months/12k miles. They are wear and tear as well, so expect to change bulbs once in a while. Maintenance items are not warrantied (tranny flush, brake flush, oil change, etc.). Use Hyundai genuine parts. Trust me. If your engine ends up having issues, and you have an aftermarket oil filter, good luck getting that engine warrantied. I buy Hyundai parts, and follow maintenance schedules exactly how they are written. Most people here would have had a better outcome if they would have educated themselves on the vehicle. Its not hard to do. Im a female, but I know more about cars than most males I know. Dont walk into a dealership with the wool over your eyes. Know your stuff, know the warranty, and know what youre driving. My car is only a year old, with 25k miles, but it has run 100% perfect for me the whole time. I have taken it on long road trips and it handled them with ease. My gas mileage on the highway gets up to 42 mpg! I dont work for Hyundai anymore, so I dont benefit from saying any of this, but I do take pride in these cars. I chose to pursue the medical field again, otherwise I would be a Hyundai employee still. You also have a right to know who works on your car, so ask. My fiance is a master technician with Hyundai, and he treats every car like his own. Go ahead and meet your technician. Discuss your concerns. Trained Hyundai techs will know their stuff and know all of these cars like the back of their hand. Make sure you realize that like every car, they will age and not be perfect anymore 1 day. Cant expect a car with 150,000 miles to run like its new. The 10 year/100k miles warranty is a great incentive to buy these cars, and not many people have to utilize it during those 10 years/100k miles. I would choose Hyundai over Toyota or Honda any day. Read and educate yourselves, people.

We purchased a new 2017 Hyundai Sonata. The car is still under warranty. In 2020 my wife called and said the oil light was on. I told her to pull over and check the oil. She said there was no oil on the stick. She added two quarts of oil and it was still below the low mark on the stick. I did research and found several class action lawsuits against Hyundai regarding faulty engines dating back to approx. 2010. Here we are 8 years later and dealing with the same issue. We called our dealership and they said we needed bring in the car for an oil consumption test. They changed the oil and charged us for it. The oil consumption test consist of returning to the dealership every thousand miles for 3000 miles so they can check how much oil the engine is using. The final result was the engine burns 3/4 quarts of oil per 1000 miles and that is considered normal by Hyundai.Hyundai recommends changing oil every 7500 miles. This means we will need to add 6 quarts of oil to the car between oil changes. Again this car is under warranty and Hyundai calls this normal. We were told however, Hyundai does sell a $600 product we could add to the oil and perhaps it would consume less oil. The bottom line is I have a car under warranty, using 6 quarts of oil between oil changes and this is normal. My 2006 Chrysler Town and Country has 314,000 miles on it. I change the oil every 7000 miles. I add 1 quart of oil between oil changes.Simply put, do not buy a Hyundai product. Take a look on the internet and you will see a long history of engine issues that continue to plague Hyundai owners. I called Hyundai and talked to Lindsay. She was a snobby customer service rep. who told me I needed to talk to Walser to get anything done to repair this car. So goes the circle. Keep an eye open as I assume there will be another class action suite soon.

My first experience was when I received the recall notice for my 2006 Sonata about the airbags sensor for front passenger seat. I had Sports Durst in Durham check it when I took it in for service (been a while back) and was told nothing was wrong. Later, when someone over 90 lbs was sitting in seat, the airbag light would indicate that it was turned off. I took it to Crenshaw Hyundai in Burlington where they checked it. They confirmed it was faulty and mailed my seat to California for service. Now, my airbag light is back on again and was told by Crenshaw Hyundai that since it had been repaired, the recall work is no longer under warranty. It seems after reading all these complaints that it would not do any good to have it repaired because the majority says the light comes back on or the airbags failed to deploy in accidents or just deployed for no reason. I use to like Hyundais but after this I will never own another one nor recommend them.

THE WORST!! I would choose zero stars for the review if it was an option! We financed our car from Hyundai Finance in November 2019 and waited 3 months to receive our title, but we never received it. We then relocated to another state and to be able to register our car, we needed our title. So, we requested a duplicate title from Hyundai in February 2020. We still haven’t received our title because Hyundai Finance fails to address our request properly every time for TWO YEARS. We have been sending countless checks and request letters to Hyundai Finance for them to request a duplicate title from the DMV for us, but they keep saying they haven’t received any checks, even though they are all delivered. For two years now, we haven’t been able to register our car in the state we live in because of the incompetency of the Hyundai title department. There is no way to call the titles department or even send a direct email to them. We have been calling customer service for two years, asking them to send emails on our behalf to the title’s department. But still no action and no clear response!! They even sometimes hang up on me instead of addressing my concerns and requests. This is the WORST experience I’ve ever had with a company in my life!! BEWARE and stay clear of Hyundai Finance!!

No after sale service - Beginning November 2011, we finally bought our dream car (Hyundai iX35 R2.0 CRDi GLS AWD A/T). I worked hard to be able to afford it. Brand new, it is delivered to us in hazy view. We are so happy to get our new dream car. The first week after we got the car, I need to take it to Hyundai Nelspruit workshop so that they can put on the nose bar as they couldn’t do it in time for delivery. That afternoon, when I got back my car and drove home, I saw that the panel where the gears are is scratched (looks like someone took a spanner or something while changing the automatic gears with it in hand). Several days later, I received an sms from the branch asking if I was satisfied with the service, and I replied no, I am not happy at all and told them about the scratched panel. Until today, they haven’t come back to me! In December, we went on holiday to Jeffrey’s Bay. On our way back, just before Kroonstad, we got a flat tire. I changed it and saw that in the inside, it is worn down to the wire, almost 5 cm. I looked at the other one, and it’s the same! We have to drive slowly as we don’t have a spare now. It is a mission to get two new tires in Kroonstad. Finally, we got the tires and after almost 5 hours and R7250.00 later and promises from Hyundai to replace it, we can continue to drive home (the car only has 9,000 km on the clock). So I sent the claim to Hyundai Lydenburg (where we bought the car). It’s now two months later, I do not know how many e-mails and phone calls, and we are still waiting for the money! The car almost has 10,000 km, suddenly the engine light goes on. I looked in the book and it says it has to get to a dealer as soon as possible. It was late at night, so the next morning, we took the car to Hyundai Nelspruit workshop. They put it on the lift and apparently there is an oil leak; we need to leave the car there as we are not allowed to drive with it (it was Monday, 6 February). So we have to rent a vehicle because no courtesy car was available (I talked to Hyundai again, they will pay the vehicle). I got a rental car from Euro Car. The first amount go off on my credit card on 8 February (R8091), and the second on 14 February (R2000), and the third on 6 March (R19,607). With our own car it would have been a bit cheaper to drive! On Thursday, we called the workshop (they said we can get it on Friday) to hear if our car is finished to collect the next day. No, they have to order a seal. A few days later, we phoned again, still not finished. They will only get the seal by 5 March! (I think they plant or grow rubber trees then milk them and only then can they produce a seal). A few weeks later, they called us (for a change) and told us they got the seal and we have to bring in the car so they can put it in. We told them that we can’t bring in the car as it is already standing there in the workshop for 3 weeks now, and that they can just immediately start with it! On Tuesday, we phoned again to hear if they are finished (was supposed to be finished on Monday). It was not. The seal they ordered was the wrong one, but they looked in their storeroom and found one (so actually the car was standing there for weeks now for nothing). They put the seal in, put in the oil, and suddenly there is another leak! And they don’t even phone us, we have to phone them every time! On Monday, 5 March, I stopped at the workshop to get my mailbox key (since it’s almost a month, I couldn’t take out my mail). They sent a young man to accompany me outside to my car to get my key. There my new car is standing way at the back in the sun. I wonder if it’s been standing there for all this time. (I don’t even let my old car stand in the sun for so long). It’s now more than 4 weeks later, I’m tired of begging and phoning all the time. I don’t even want that car anymore. It already gave us so much problems I don’t trust it anymore. We expect Hyundai to give us a brand new car, pay back our money for the tires, pay the bill on my credit card with interest for the rental car and bank charges on the credit card, so their name is not affected. It is the least they can do for us to compensate for all the inconvenience, or we have to take legal action. After I sent this mail to Hyundai, I got an e-mail from Liam from Customer Service saying that Hyundai will only pay for the labor and the seal. Thank heavens, they will pay a R5 seal and me R40,000 for rental and tires. At R4000 a kilometer above the buying of R400,000, I really hope to sell it or let it just stand too expensive for me. This is unacceptable. The public should know about the terrible service of Hyundai before they have to go through what we did. If you read the letter/message of the CEO, Alan Ross, (on their website) it is the opposite of what is happening in reality. In my situation, there is in no client service from Hyundai! Hyundai Nelspruit says they can’t work if there is no part. Hyundai sells thousands of vehicles and there is no part, wow. It’s like me booking in guests and tell them sorry we can’t take you on a game drive. I wonder for how long we still have to wait for our car and all the money? At least Hyundai Lydenburg tried to help us with this mess from Nelspruit workshop via e-mails, etc. I fear the day the car is not under guarantee anymore and I have to pay all the expenses because their service is so bad! I hope you can accomplish something with them.

I purchase a 2020 Hyundai Kona, in Aug 2020, and the exterior black trim around the doors, windows and rear liftgate have faded! I took it to the dealership and was accused of waxing them, thus making them fade? Does that make sense? I called the Hyundai customer care department and opened a case only to be told you waxed it and they will not do anything about it! I didnt wax them, but now I have to live with it. BEWARE OF HYUNDAI PRODUCTS! I have the 2020 Kona Ultimate with faded black trim! The family that they claim you belong once you purchase a Hyundai doesnt exist!

Don’t Buy it and waste your time and money! I lease Hyundai Tucson on December 2018. The car was running perfect for 3 months. The start showing same problem over and over, the problem is happened often but in not continuous manner. The problem is:1. If the car off, once you insert the key in ignition, the key stuck and not turn the car on. After 15 to 30 minutes the car back to normal.2. If the car on ... suddenly the maintenance light, the turned on, the AC turned off, the front left signal off, the engine overheated and when you turn the car off the key stuck in ignition. The issue continue happened almost once a week for 30 minutes and then disappeared and back running normal. I took one of my vacation day and took it to the dealer. I explained the issue in detail, he said as far as the issue not continues he can diagnose it.“People who create car cannot identify issue and leave you with possibility to stuck in the middle of nowhere of that issue happened ... funny right”. Every time the issue happening I called hyundai to come pick up the car and find out what’s going out and give me a loaner car since my work required a car all time —- customer service, case manager reject my request. Last time the issue cont. so I called the road side assistance. They took it to the dealer. The car was in repair for three days. Hyundai did not give me a loaner car and they offer the max reimbursement for rental car $38/day... that offer after I had a case # with them and two days after I was without car ... in NYC is impossible. The min car rental is $60/day in NYC and that for smaller car than the Tucson. The dealer claim that he fix it by replacing the ignition. 30 minutes after I pick the car up and on my way back the issue is happened again for 30 mins... Again back to same hyundai concept cannot identify their car issued .... funny. That would be the last car I buy or lease from hyundai. Except if you wanna ride a car with a fancy shape but 20 yrs old keep showing problems.

No compensation, wouldn’t give me a rental nor any help from Corporate. They said they will call me back in 10 business days. They leased me a LEMON and left me hanging in every way. I do not recommend Hyundai or any of their parent companies because they don’t care about the consumer whatsoever. Worst experience of my life, never again.

My wife and I purchased an Elantra back in 2013, Due to credit issues we have high interest rate and high car payment and a term for 7 years. At the time, we were desperate and needed a car. Its been over 6 years and we have less than 18 months. We owe less than 8000 on the car. Hyundai is doing everything they can to repo the car. If its note is not paid on the day. They call and call, threatening us with repossession. They Repo the car once when it was only 20 days late, after a commitment to pay was made. The last time I called to make a commitment to pay, they were heartless and telling me to borrow the money from someone. The were not this aggressive until we paid down the vehicle.

My wife and I purchased a brand new 2011 Hyundai Tucson based on the consumer safety ratings. We had a baby on the way so safety was important to us. On September 23rd 2011, six months after driving the vehicle off of the lot, I got a frantic call from my wife saying the car was smoking. I told her to pull over and I would come get her and we would call a tow truck.Within two minutes I received another call. This time the car, she told me, was engulfed in flames. Se narrowly escaped being trapped in the car, since the automatic locks were locking and unlocking in a ghostly manner and was trapped momentarily in the car, along with our 4 month old son, inhaling electrical smoke. Thankfully they both got out alive. The investigation concluded an electrical fire had started and the vehicle was a total loss. I have never experienced such rudeness on the phone as I attempted to contact many representatives from Hyundai Consumer Affairs. Hyundai is a disgusting company. They told us that Americas Best Warranty did not cover this. Never buy a Hyundai. Your life may depend on it.

Hyundai Financing has to be one of the most incompetent companies Ive ever dealt with. We leased which we will NEVER do again and then we were buying a house. In order for us to get the FHA loan, we had to sell the car to get it out of my name EVEN though my company was paying for it. We had my mom get a loan and buy it from Hyundai Leasing. We mailed the check overnight. I waited two days and then started calling to make sure they received it. After 5 DAYS of calling constantly and talking to a different person in their call center every time, we finally got a document saying that the loan was paid in full and the balance was zero. The call center is not located where the check was and neither was the supervisors who are actually located in a complete different location as well. No one knew exactly where the check was. I had to contact FedEx to show that it had been delivered. I had supervisors making promises that they would send us a document of closure but never did. I have never been so ticked with a company before! Then we get a letter stating that the current credit union that is providing us with the loan has not received the title yet. Its been 4 weeks since the check was received and applied! I just called them and they said that they had not received the odometer disclosure statement. What the?!! Did anyone tell us about that document?! OF COURSE NOT! I love my car but I will never finance a car through them and I may never buy another one from Hyundai.

My father owned a 2013 Hyundai Elantra. Previously the car had shown multiple failures such as the steering unexpectedly locking or brakes making loud obnoxious sounds. A few days ago my sister and mother had gotten into a car accident. The car had went airborne and went head first and hit a curb. The car is currently totaled and my mother had multiple injuries. The airbags had not opened during the process. This is outrageous and we would seriously like to have this problem solved. Luckily no one was in critical condition, but still this should never happen.

I went to buy a Hyundai Elantra and after haggling over the price I was guided to a used Hyundai Elantra. I was interested in MPG and this used car had some remaining warranty and looked pretty good but they still couldnt get it to a price I could afford. So they asked if I did have a trade. I told the salesman I had a 2004 Civic which is not running, motor frozen. They said thats okay and added it as a trade to bring the financed price down to what I could afford. We sealed the deal after a full day of bull**. Three days later, the dealer called me and said its not a deal. They would not mail the agreement to the main office. I am so angry with Hyundai after being a previous owner of a 2010 Sonada. I will not go back. I was going to contest this reversal of signed agreement but I would have had to get a lawyer and I couldnt afford it. I now tell anybody that will listen to not buy at City Hyundai of Tallahassee, FL.

My warranty was voided by Hyundai because of their authorized dealership installing an alarm system without my knowledge. I was informed of this after I took my car in because of cranking issues, gas smell and car jumping into different geals by itself. After the dealership pulled and worked on everything on my car, they sent a field engineer who told Hyundai to void my warranty. Now I have a car that I cant drive because of safety issues and not one representative from Hyundai cared that my car was is unsafe to drive while Im still paying monthly payments on the car. Its amazing how Hyundai voids a warranty after their authorized dearlership install parts when you didnt ask them too. I eventually was sent an official letter from Consumer Affairs stating that they paid me for this service. Well Hyundai, if you paid me for this service, Im still waiting for the Check!!! Dont TRUST Hyundai. As there commerical says, They shoot straight with their customer. Yes they do, with lies to avoid their obligations.

We traded in my Hyundai Tucson for two new 2008 Sonatas in 2008. We are not happy at all with the quality of the cars. After going in 2010 for an oil change the dealer told me I needed 4 new tires. He insulted me by saying that I must drive like a maniac. We didnt trust that every time we went for an oil change or maintenance they seemed to find something else wrong. They asked us for a second chance to service our cars. So on 12/14/11 we went with hesitation for oil changes. For the past year we were taking our cars to Meineke for maintenance since they guarantee their work and are a lot cheaper. Never fail, this time they claimed I needed 2 new tires, and hubbys car needed new brakes at $1159.00. We told them to just do the oil changes. After we picked up our cars my husband’s car just broke down after 3 blocks. We called them and got it towed back to the dealer which I thought was covered, but turns out it was our expense also. They claim it was the fuel pump. We had no choice but to let them fix it or tow it somewhere else. They still got us for $750.00. We wonder if they shorted something because we werent going to let them do the brakes for $1159.00. As of today 12/26/11 we still owe 2 more years payments and are very worried what else is going to happen to these cheap quality vehicles. We have dealt with Chevrolet and Toyota and never had a problem with the quality or felt like we were being ripped off royally. Hyundai constantly sends us offers to trade in our cars and we were seriously thinking about it. Now we just wish we could give the cars back and go somewhere else. We cant believe this is happening before we even have them paid off. We wish we could use the lemon law to help us. We will tell anyone who asks not to buy a Hyundai. Buying a Hyundai is like going to the 99 cent store for cars. You get what you pay for.

Purchased a used 2015 Santa Fe because of good reviews and reliability, or so I thought; unbeknownst to me the vehicle had recall and service campaign issues after class actions alerted the public to defective engines produced for many years, known to cause dangerous engine failures and fires. A former Hyundai engineer whistleblower was awarded over $200 million for alerting about the engines in production which had massive safety concerns. Many consumers had dangerous engine failures but end up being told their necessary engine replacement is not covered due to loopholes or their lack of installing a bandaid fix; software that does not fix the engine but it merely is meant to alert the driver if engine failure is due to happen. Many consumers are told Not covered because service campaign was not performed to install software which was a bandaid fix anyway. The software does not fix the defective engine...it simply is installed to hopefully alert you if the defective engine fails. Whether it has the bandaid software installed or not...if the defective engine fails, Hyundai needs to cover the replacement engine.

I currently own a 2005 Hyundai Sonata but decided to get a new car 2 years ago. Not knowing what I really wanted, I decided to lease a new 2016 Hyundai Elantra GT. Prior to the end of the lease in January 2019, I received a letter from the dealership stating that they will cover termination fees, excess wear and tear, disposition fees and over mileage fees. I leased a new 2018 Hyundai Kona in August of 2018. To my surprise, I recently received a bill from Hyundai Motor Finance Company for over $1,300. I have made countless phone calls to both the dealership and finance company to no avail. The dealer says they have done everything they can and do not understand the charges, the finance company says that they are just going by my contract and here I am stuck in the middle with a bill. I ended up paying the balance for loss of sale, a term I heard only after turning in the car. The Hyundai Motor Finance Company has even charged me $65.00 a hubcap for curb rash; $260 just for hubcaps! When speaking with one of their representatives, she explained that they want the car back in the same condition I got it in; In other words, they do not accept normal wear and tear. They are a third party just like any other bank and really dont have anything to do with what dealerships tells me. Unless you are willing to read all the fine print in your contract at the dealership, which is kind of hard because all they really want is to have you walk away with a car, take the contract home and read it before you sign for after it has your signature, you are legally bound to its terms. Dont expect the dealership to explain to you important terms like loss of sale; the difference you are responsible for if the car is not sold at auction for a price that covers the remainder of the lease balance. Call the Lease End department before you turn in the car and arrange for a pre-inspection so you can fix everything at a fraction of the cost. I could have replaced all four hubcaps for less than $100. I now purchased the excess wear and tear insurance for the new vehicle; lets see how that goes?

My experience with Rick Case Hyundai in Duluth, GA was extremely horrible. I went in on Wednesday to trade in my very good condition 2007 Lexus GS 350 for a 2012 black on black Veloster. At first, Mr. ** wanted me to pay $1500 out of pocket for the car which was a no deal. So after hours of negotiating, we finally agreed on a title for a title. Then he tells me the car will be here on Friday. Friday came and went, and still no car. After waiting around all weekend, the car finally comes on Monday. But unfortunately the car interior was red! I was then talked into keeping the car to see if the red interior would grow on me. Two days later, I brought the car back because it did not grow on me. I asked Mr. ** that if they could change the interior color to black and he said they could for $1500. I politely told him no because it was not my fault that the wrong color car was ordered. Two hours later, I asked for my Lexus and the title back, and he said okay but I would have to pay a restocking and reconditioning fee of $599. I called my lawyer immediately and was informed that was ** and the dealership was only trying to make money off of me. After being constantly lied to and haggled, I told him no and patiently waited another hour for the keys to my Lexus. As a military veteran I was hurt, disappointed and highly ** that the Rick Case Hyundai of Duluth, GA would give me such a hard time of simply changing the interior of a car that they wrongly ordered! Buying a car is supposed to be a great experience, but it was a nightmare. I hope Steven ** does not continue to take advantage of people and especially, veterans.

I bought my 2012 Sonata GLS brand new in March of 2012 with 36 miles on it.
I bought my 2012 Sonata GLS brand new in March of 2012 with 36 miles on it. Never a single mechanical issue with it until this past January 2015. My car randomly shut off while driving home from getting my oil changed at the dealer. After trying to figure out the problem on our own with no luck, I called the dealership the next day and they told me to call Hyundai Roadside Assistance and have the car towed into the shop so they could take a look at it and figure out what was going on.I called roadside assistance and after going round and round with the man on the phone, they located my car and towed it to the dealership. A day or two later, I hadnt heard anything about the status of my car, so I called the service dept and asked what was going on. I was told Oh! I was JUST about to call you! and they informed me that my engine locked up. When I asked how that happens and was told that he had no idea how it happened because I always have my car serviced at the dealer so they have records that my cars maintenance has been kept up with. I had to ask what I was supposed to do about a vehicle while they waited for Hyundai to approve a new engine. Then he asked my age, I informed him I was 25 and then he told me they could put me in a loaner car but probably not till the next day. They put me in a loaner car, the engine was approved and put in and they called me to come pick up my car. About a week after picking up my car, my check engine light came on. I was nervous because I was about to leave to go on a 5 hour trip. I called and they told me to come in so they could check it. I went in and the lady told me it was basically the car registering that there had been a problem before which didnt make a lot of sense to me, but she cleared the light and I went on my way.Not long after that, I was on the highway and my car was jerking while I was driving. I called the dealership right away and the man told me that is normal. It’s basically the car re-learning the new engine. I took his word for it because I dont know much about cars and that made a little sense. My check engine light came on again and I called the dealer. I was told I would be charged a $90 diagnostic fee for them to see why it was on. Not long after that, I was sitting in a pretty long line in the drive-thru of a restaurant and looked down to see my temperature warning light on and my temperature gauge was all the way to the hot side. As soon as I started driving, it quickly went down and after having it looked at, I was informed that my fan is not working which is why the car overheats when it sits idle, but is fine when driving.I then went to Advanced Auto to have them see why my check engine light was on. The associate informed me that it was my camshaft position sensor and my crankshaft position sensor. I took my car into the dealer because it was due for an oil change. While I was there, they told me there was a recall with something to do with the computer. While I was there, I talked with a woman at the service desk and explained the whole situation to her. She told me that sensors arent covered under my PowerTrain warranty and that even though the engine and the sensors were new they still were not covered and would be my responsibility to fix. They changed my oil and they fixed the recall and 5 days later, my car wont even start.Today (6/9/15) I once again, called Hyundai roadside assistance and they picked up car up from my home and took it to the same dealer this morning. I received a call this afternoon from the same man I dealt with when they put the new engine in. He informed me that my starter went bad and that it is not covered under my warranty and there is no way that could have been our fault from putting in a new engine and they would need to put a new one in before they could check to see why the car was overheating. He said to get the new starter in, I was looking at around $500 and he would go ahead and get that put in for me now. Didnt even bother to ask if thats what I wanted him to do which I didnt. I told him NOT to do that, and that I would be looking into other options. I have literally NEVER been more frustrated with a company in my entire life. I pay a great deal of money every month because I wanted to buy a brand new car so that I wouldnt have all these problems, yet here I am. No car and no idea what to do to get this situation taken care of when I dont have the money to pay for all these issues.
