Why, why can we not adjust the Passenger Seat in my 2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid and in my 2015 Kia Optima. I would like the Option to raise the Seat Higher. When youre short, it is a Problem. I know the Engineers and Designers could get this worked out.
My 2016 sonata is a month old. The adaptive cruise system has failed and initiated an emergency stop while driving. The driver door is misaligned and allows road noise into the cabin and water into the sealed part of the door. The drivers side windshield wiper is misaligned and fumbles across the windshield making all sorts of noise. When I went to Hyundai of Serramonte the service clerk directed me first to a body shop. Then to the Hyundai where I purchased the car since it was a different dealer. Then told me the problem was normal and pointed to a far off car and said something like all doors are like that. We then walked over to the other car so I could show him the weather stripping on the other car does not create a gap like is on my car. He then said I can make an appointment if I want and walked off.
In April 2018, 11 months after purchasing a new Hyundai Tucson, the transmission began hesitating and shuddering. I complained at Weimer Hyundai and was told to read the owner’s manual and watch some videos on YouTube. These did not address the issue but I was told repeatedly that was how that particular transmission behaved. Then between Jan 25 and Feb 5, 2019, I had 4 service appointments at Weimer to address 4 issues. The continuing transmission hesitation and shuddering now with skyrocketing RPMs, the AEB dash light and alert dings continuously going off, 20+second hesitation upon takeoff and when attempting to increase speed after slowing down or in stop and go traffic, and the driver door lock button malfunctioning. Nothing was repaired.I opened a complaint with Hyundai Customer Service and was told to take it to Jenkins Hyundai. After waiting for 3 weeks for a service appointment opening, on Mar 11, I was told it could be a safety issue if the AEB were in a crash/near crash situation and didn’t operate as designed. I was told a 2 different wiring harnesses were being ordered and that it should be in for the repair within the week and I would have a loaner car. They would call when the parts came in. After not hearing anything for several days, I talked to Hyundai Customer Service about the lemon law buyback. They said it would take 30 days to reach a decision. Finally they sent an email saying they would not do a buyback. Finally on April 8, my wife went to Jenkins and spoke with a sales manager who said he would call her back that afternoon with an update. He did not call. On April 9, my wife returned to Jenkins and spoke to a service manager who told her the wiring harnesses were on back order. He said a serious issue had also affected massive numbers of Subaru’s and that because of that all the mechanic appointments and loaner vehicles were booked for at least 4-6 weeks out. He said he would contact Hyundai Customer Service, a couple of dealerships 90+ minutes away and his own staff and prepare a plan. From this point he wanted to handle everything via email to create a paper trail. He said he would have everything ready by noon on April 10 and would call with the plan. Instead, he emailed a request for videos of the issues. By April 11, the A/C had stopped functioning properly and by April 12 even the date and time were not displaying on the dash or radio screen. My wife submitted all this information and several videos to them. DON’T buy a HYUNDAI!
My wife and I just purchased a 2013 Hyundai Azera in November 2013. Since then we have had numerous complaints with the vehicle in and out of the service department. Keep in mind the dealership is 90 miles one way and a rental vehicle was only offered one time to us out of the several trips we had to make. Let me start with noise up over the driver sun visor. The service department could never find and still to this day the noise can still be heard. Two of the wheels the clear coat started to come off. They did not want to replace the wheels and by stating that it was a product we must had used on them when washing the car. Needless to say I became very angry and we did receive two new wheels after the fact. The vehicle being 8 months old with 27,000 miles one of the tires are so worn and legally should not be on the road. The other three tires are worn but not worn as bad. Tires with 27,000 miles should have more tread on them. This vehicle gets serviced and tires rotated every 3,000 miles and all services have been scheduled at the dealership where we purchased the vehicle but one. The service department at the dealership is the worst we have ever had to come in contact with. You have two people telling you two different things regarding the tire tread. Alignment was good and was told we needed to contact Hankook the tire company and this was not a Hyundai problem. Hyundai is the one that contracted Hankook to put these tires on the car so I feel this is Hyundais problem. The chrome molding around the two back passenger windows is popping off. The dealership mentioned on the service print out that both moldings were loose but is only going to replace the driver side molding. I guess the passenger side molding will be another trip to the dealership before they will replace it instead of replacing them both at the same time. You can clearly see the passenger side molding loose too. Hyundai did everything in their power to sell us this vehicle with this wonderful 100,000 mile warranty but every time you have a problem you have to cause a scene and get angry before anyone wants to do anything. The tires is the biggest issue. This is a new vehicle and nothing is getting done about it. Is this how Hyundai treats their customers? I guess more complaints have to come forward or even deaths before Hyundai does anything about this major problem. If you are reading this just be aware of all the complaints listed and should reconsider purchasing a Hyundai. I wish we had done more research before we made our purchase.
I have a 2009 Santa Fe with 40,000 miles. While driving 8 hours in the rain on a road trip, the paint started flying off my hood and roof in huge chunks. I have never had an accident or a chip in the paint. The repair shop called to report they are having problems fixing the original paint loss because more keeps coming off. Now it looks like a complete new paint job will be required. Hyundai says the warranty is up at 35,000 miles for paint. The paint job is obviously defective from the factory; however my attempt to file a claim with Hyundai led nowhere. I was driving along a straight road 4 weeks ago when there was a sharp crack. A hairline crack appeared down the plastic decal of the climate control system and the audio system. When I took the car to the dealer they stated that it was a scratch and not a crack and the manufacturers have refused to repair it under the Warranty (there is a 5 year Warranty on this car). I am a 74 year old lady so there are no children in this car to cause a scratch - it is very definitely a crack, but the dealer says it is not. I feel as if I am now in limbo with this.
I leased my 2015 Sonata Sport in Feb of 2016. It had been a service loaner and had almost 5000 miles on it at delivery. After about six months in Aug of 2016 my car would not start and I had to call Hyundai Roadside to jump it. I brought it into the dealer the following week. They tested the battery, said nothing was wrong, and suggested I did something to cause the battery drain. Well, I continued to have the problem and brought the car back to the dealer in Nov of 2016. This time they said the battery was bad and replaced it. Even after replacing the battery, I continued to have the problem and brought the car back to the dealer in Jan of 2017. This time they blamed the problem on the Allstate insurance device I have plugged into the car and they said the battery was bad too. So they replaced the battery for the second time and I had the Allstate device replaced.I continued to have the same problems. I brought the car back to the dealer the following month and they said they could not replicate the issue and found nothing. It seems that my vehicle battery dies when I dont use the vehicle for a period of time – often 1.5 - 2 days, but it has died from sitting unused in as little as 22 hours. Since I continue to have this issue without any real help from the dealer, I contacted Hyundai consumer affairs in April of 2017 and they have been slow to take any action. I did not receive any actionable info from them until 2 weeks after I first called... They called the dealer I had been working with and the dealer told them they thought the issue was the insurance device (even though they found no problems the last time I had the vehicle there, with the device plugged in).So my Hyundai case manager told me they could not do anything until the insurance device was ruled out as a cause. I removed the device and purposefully did not drive the vehicle for a full day and surprise, the car was dead. So I called my case manager at Hyundai and told her what happened and that the device could be ruled out. Now she is checking to see if or when (her words) a Hyundai specialist can look at the car. Hopefully, it wont take another two weeks to find that out. It seems Im not the only person with this issue as a couple other reviews very recently indicate the same problem on the same year/make/model and with even the same time frame the problem began! I guess its time for me to find a lawyer too.
I purchased a new 2012 Hyundai Sonata from the Liberty Hyundai dealership in New Hudson, MI and experienced engine problems about a year later. I took the car into the dealership and was told I would receive a loaner car when they got some in stock. After continuously calling for a few days, I was told they still didnt have any loaners. After a while they called and told me that I could not get a loaner because they needed authorization to tear down my engine. So basically the service department manager lied about giving me one in the first place. He then told me his rep authorized to tear down my engine to see what was the cause of it not running correctly and burning oil. They told me I had sludge in my engine and the oil was never changed even though I have receipts to prove the oil was changed. The manager then said the place I got it changed from really didnt change the oil and I would have to go back to them. He then said as a result, my warranty was void and it would cost me $4,200-$8,000 to replace my engine. This was not the only problem I had with this dealership. The service manager also told me there is a recall on my car. I asked if they fixed the problem for the recall and he said, “No, unless we have the engine fixed.” When I first bought the car, they told me about a tire warranty, which is also a waste of money! They told me how great it was, and that if anything goes wrong with any of my tires, the company that offers the insurance would come out change my tire and cover expenses. I learned firsthand that wasn’t true at all. I had a flat tire and called the insurance company. They told me I needed to take it in to a reputable tire place such as Belle Tire. I took it to Belle Tire and had to pay for a new tire. The insurance company told me they wouldn’t pay for the replacement, and I come to find out if they did, it would be as a reimbursement. I was only happy that the flat tire didn’t happen when I was driving or on the side of the road, because they wouldn’t have come out to my location immediately. I am absolutely displeased and angered by their service! It seemed as soon as I pulled into the service department for them to look at the car, they were not trying to help - they were telling me lies and saying anything just so they wouldnt have to fix it. Not only will I never buy from Hyundai again, I will tell those who ask me about getting a Hyundai that it is not worth the trouble. Lord forbid something goes wrong, and it will with their cars, because they will not fix it.
A lot of people are talking about the big lie Hyundai used to increase sales. I dont know if it came from Korea or the greedy US division came up with it, but I am very disappointed. Like some others, Im not as upset about the mileage as I am about feeling screwed. I work hard for my money and do a lot of research before I purchase a new vehicle. I owned a 2003 Sonata that made me feel they made a quality product. The 2011 Elantra was priced at $18,400 on their website, along with the $1,000 customer loyalty discount. It would be the perfect car for my 16-year-old daughter.When I got to the dealer, theyre in such demand (because of the mileage lie) I had to wait until June when the 2012s came out. Then they tacked on a $1,995 market parity adjustment and customer loyalty discount doesnt apply to the Elantra. So I paid $21,500. I feel like a sap. Every day when I go out to the driveway, I am reminded of how your company took advantage of me. When I took it in for the mileage check for the fuel debit card, I talked to the salesman about turning it in for another car. The dealer (Jenkins of Leesburg, Florida) has a Volkswagen lot next door. My daughter and I agreed to trade it in until we were told it was only worth $12,000. Wow, do I feel screwed? Will I ever buy another Hyundai? What do you think?
I have a 2011 Gen Coupe 3.8, purchased in Oct 2010. My steering wheel started peeling about 3 months ago (around 7,000 miles) and I brought this issue up to my dealership a little over a month ago. They said, Hey, thats not right, and wont get any better. So the way Hyundai does things, is to take a picture, and send it to the regional manager. About a week later, I got a call from the dealership saying the Hyundai representative denied replacement. I was a little upset, but the peeling wasnt too horrid yet.About a month down the road, the peeling has gotten really bad, and its about 2 inches long, and wraps halfway around the wheel. You barely touch the spot, and this black plastic just falls right off. I brought my car in again, for a new picture/replacement request. The representative again denied it. And the dealership said, Hes denying it because they have no fix right now, Hyundai knows its an issue and will just happen again if they replace it. So Im stuck with a crappy peeling, ugly steering wheel now. I even called Hyundai corporate and they said the regional manager has the final say.Way to go Hyundai, some 10 years/100k warranty you have there!
Hyundai has been a good car. My husband also bought a Hyundai after I got mine. I will probably get another one as my next car, too. Its very reliable and has had very little issues. I liked that it is safe and its not too big and not too small. It gets decent gas mileage. I liked how it looked. The trunk is quite big. It has a very good warranty. However, I wish the music system was better. Factory battery didnt last too long. I would like a back up camera and Bluetooth features to connect with my phone.
If you plan to lease a Hyundai, read the contract!!! I wanted to pay off the vehicle early, to purchase something other than a Hyundai and was told by the leasing company it would be an additional $400.00 to return the car in early, or on time. You would think, being that my husband works for the dealership, he would have been told this... so angry!!!
I would like to highlight that I have a very bad experience with the quality of tyres Verna is using. Verna was one the cars I always wanted and finally one year back I bought it. However, I did not know that it uses some bad quality tyres. I was travelling from Indore to Pune on 2nd June 2019, when the tyre (Front Left side) of my car (Hyundai verna SX (O)) got burst and I had near escape from death. My spouse got hurt on her head and eyes. I was driving at a speed of maximum 50kmph, as it was a single road, between Rajgurunagar and Chakan. The Front Tyre (left side) suddenly got burst.On contacting the service management of Hyundai and Hankok (tyre manufacturer/dealer), they said it is a cut on the side wall and its not a fault of tyre and denied my request of replacing it. My point is such expensive and big cars who can run at around 140kmph, should have such bad quality tyres and risk life of the customers. OR, should they provide any better reliable and trusted brand. For instance, even I say, there was an impact on tyre, should the tyre easily gets burst. I have another car - Chevrolet Beat and used Bridgestone, MRF for last 10 years not. Have gone on potholes on highways on speed as fast as 100kmp, but never had this experience. This clearly shows the quality of tyres.
Problem with 2008 Sante Fe - The fuel gauge in my vehicle has stopped registering the gasoline. I fill up vehicle and turn on engine and it registers zero fuel. Sometimes it might register 1/4 of a tank for a few minutes, then goes back to zero. The check engine light started coming on at the same time. The car was taken to Advance Auto and their register gave a number (which escapes me right now) but when we looked it up it said the fuel sensor was bad. From reading numerous complaints about the same problem, it seems the repair for this can cost anything from $300 - $700. This seems to me grossly unfair as it is obviously a defect in the equipment and should be repaired at the companys cost. Thanks for listening.
Had no knowledge of the Azera when I first saw the car but after a test drive comparison with the Sonata it seemed more substantial and luxurious. I have leased over eight cars in my lifetime but the Azera limited was the first that I purchased at the end of a lease. The Azera limited had many factory installed options and safety features that were standard along with the Hyundai warranty made the Azera limited the obvious choice.
I will start with I love my car, it’s a beautiful blue, fits my family well and it is a delight to drive, when it worked, but I am saddened by how my newer vehicle had a catastrophic failure with all warnings and bells that are supposed to come in play, not work and leave my young child and I sit on the side of the road on a hot day, and then get the run around between corporate and the dealership. I am an essential worker and I must get to work and get my child to and from care daily. I am being told my car is listed as a rental car, um, we bought this car from a dealer for our family car. I work at an accounting firm, this car is not a rental. It gets my little family to and from point A to point B, so someone needs to correct this paperwork error which we have been asking for. Second, I am being told that my vehicle’s warranty doesn’t move to the second owner yet. On our purchase paperwork it states in 1 place that we have the factory warranty with the purchase and in a second place it states in very large font, WARRANTY INCLUDED, the dealer will pay 100% of the labor and 100% of the parts for the balance of the factory warranty of 10 years or 100k miles. We had the vehicle towed to the dealer per what the engineer at corporate advised my husband to do. It has been a week and we are getting the run around on if anything will be fixed and if we can even get a loaner car. We work overlapping times on the other sides of the county and cannot possibly share a vehicle. Unable to find rides every day, one of us had to miss multiple days of work dealing with this. My car is a 4 year old Hyundai Tucson that is equipped to warn you if you have low tire pressure, a door is ajar, oil is low and so on and so on. Somehow, no warning at all, and very on time oil changes, my car made an odd noise going up a hill, and then it died. The engine seized. How can something like that happen on a 4 year old car, less than 100k miles and none of its warnings throwing red flags and there wasn’t any codes either. Did I mention my husband is a mechanic. This is not normal and I don’t understand why we are getting the run around between the dealer and corporate. A loaner car should have been approved immediately along with the warranty work. I want to be able to continue enjoying my car that I’m still paying for. :(
Blue Link is terrible. It is so expensive too. The app hardly ever works which is annoying. I like the concept but it doesnt work! I was still willing to pay for the remote start with hopes that the app would get better. However I cant pay for it because it wont let me do it online, no one will answer my emails or my phone call! Customer service is SO bad. I have called a few times and after waiting on hold for 33 min a nice person answered but was unable to help me. I asked for a manager and was told one would call me in 2-3 hours which is annoying but whatever. I wait... no call.I call back the next day and was told Oh... it has only been about 16 hours. Wait at least 24 someone will call you. Well it is a few days later, no call. I hate calling them because it takes over 30 min to get a person on the phone and they cant help at all. Multiple emails have gone unanswered. It is a mess and my service is up. I guess they dont care about quality or customer service.
I had never bought anything but a Chevrolet or a Ford and I always had a full size car. The Hyundai was the first foreign car and the first small car that I have purchased. I love the way it drives and the MPG. But I did have a problem with the seat belts that the dealership refused to acknowledge and fix and the tires that came with the car were not good. It also did not come with a spare. I will never buy a car without a spare again.
I purchased a new 2009 Sonata Limited 4/08. Now, it has approx. 23,500 miles. Months back, I discovered an item I now need (that was supposed to be on the car) was not there. Although I was told and given a valet key that the manual states leaving the sub key with a parking attendant will ensure that your vehicles trunk, trunk like release, glove box compartment and rear trunk access may not be unlocked in your absence, the information and manual are not correct. The valet system locks were never installed. This never came to my attention until some time back when I had major back surgery and could no longer lift items from the trunk (that cannot be secured) until I could find someone to do it for me. This means I must drive around with items in the trunk that are not secured. Hyundai Consumer Affairs has offered many excuses - such as:1. Company decided child safety hazard and stopped installing them - not correct2. The locks are there and you just need to go to the dealer and they will locate them for you. - Service Mgr & Asst. looked for them and when they could not find them told me some cars come down the line with things left off other cars of the same model. Warranty dept. then asked me to visit a different dealer to locate.3. One email reads, Your vehicle would have come with 2 keys, one that can lock/unlock the the trunk and glove box and the other to give to a valet attendant so they can park the vehicle. - I received from the dealership 3 keys - 2 regular and 1 valet with the explanation that it would do as the manual states above.4. NHTSA action number 10025822 issued 9/9/08 - four months after car purchased reads - Hyundai owners manuals for all 2009 Sonata vehicles contain incorrect information regarding sub key (valet key) operations. Until a printing revision is implemented, manuals will need to have the sticker overlays installed. No sticker overlay could have been installed as the car was purchased 4 months earlier than the bulletin date. Sales department misrepresented the car as they werent even knowledgeable about the missing locks.Theres absolutely no satisfaction from Hyundai. With my physical condition, it now looks like I will have to purchase a different make car. I believe Hyundai should work out something with me on this car. To date they have no interest.
In the 9 months since I purchased my 2011 Hyundai Genesis, the navigation screen has frozen numerous times. The dealer has replaced the original unit with 3 other navigation units and did a software update on one of the replacement units. The last replacement unit was DOA (dead on arrival). I have spoken with the service manager at the dealer numerous times. I have taken the car back to the dealer too many times. I have written the corporate offices twice, and spoken to the regional manager several times. It has been more than 4 weeks since I spoke with the Hyundai regional manager and nobody has contacted me since.
This car was sold to me as a higher end model, so my expectations coincided with that. About a month into ownership, the car started emitting this terrible smell every time I accelerated onto the interstate. As winter progressed, the smell stopped. When the heat returned, it came back. It seems to stop after a while then return after oil changes. Ive had the vehicle a little over 2 years now, and the compressor already died. I dont even run the A/C over the 3rd bar even on the hottest days! Gas mileage already seems to be waning. I was doing 40mpg (primarily interstate driving) on regular unleaded with 10% ethanol. Now its doing 35 or so. I really like the push button start and car door lock/unlock.However, Ive been having trouble getting the car to lock over the past couple of months. Ill press the button as usual and nothing happens. Its sporadic, cant find a pattern by temperature, weather, or amount driven. On a different note, the volume doesnt automatically adjust to engine speed, so Im constantly adjusting the volume. I would much rather pay attention to driving! On a positive note, the car is comfortable and rides well. The heat and A/C work quickly (when they function). Two settings on the heated seats is really nice.
Hyundai is NOT committed to the safety of its owners. Despite a nationwide recall on my vehicle model (07 Sonata) due to malfunctioning air bag systems, the local dealership instead tried to blame my cars erratic air bag on/off indicator on an electronics short/seat belt issue and extort $360 from me to repair it. Calling the Hyundai Customer Care Center resulted in plenty of canned answers and false sympathy but no resolution. Very disappointed by the total lack of concern and support for this vital component; its not like Im trying to get a free upgrade or anything... just working airbags!! I guess thats too much to ask for Hyundai.
All I have to say is that the description provided by the sales person of this vehicle Tucson 2017 I leased is so inaccurate. He described this vehicle as good gas mileage, features, and speed. First of all he said 25mpg in city and 29mpg on highway, I travel a lot and it takes way less than that. Second of all key fob does not open the trunk even though it has a picture of the open trunk on it, I believe it is false advertisement, as it show that pic. I will read the manual and see what it say, to take further actions on this. I just dont know why would it have that pic if it will only unlock it, makes no sense for that use the unlock button. Third people are not trained well as when I called in to check if it was an electric problem the person who answer said that she checked the users manual and it was supposed to unlock it. Ask me to bring it to service to check. When I took it there, the service guy cut me off and said nope it only unlocks it and walked away, not even let me finish my question, so I had to leave, because no one will pay attention to me after they heard him saying that. Then they call me for my plates, the receptionist completely ignored me for a while, they gave me the plates and ask me if I want some one to help me put the plates. I said yes gratefully, and she page someone in service, after waiting for 30 minutes decided to leave as no one showed. This is the first time I ever review someone, so I dont know what else to put, but what I can tell you is that it is the WORSE purchase/contract I ever did. I wish I can return the car, but it will kill my credit so I have to stick with it. I hope you read this before buying/leasing a car and dont go for a Hyundai or not go to that Hudson Hyundai in NJ. I will read the manual and see what it says about the key fob, maybe it is false advertisement, and I will post it here. Dont get stocked in a car like this, it REALLY SUCKS, to live with it for three years.
We have two Hyundais, loved one and got another (Santa Fe). Well built, good gas mileage, comfortable, nice looking and good resale value, good warranty. If I could afford the Genesis it would be my next car.
Great service. Great price. No pressure looking at vehicles on the lot when getting my car services. 10 yr warranty on vehicles. Honest mechanics and service people. Outstanding customer service and Hyundai is impressionable.
I own a 2012 Hyundai Accent. It never has attained 40 MPG as advertised and stated on my car window sticker when purchased. A Class Action lawsuit was filed and reported settled in Feb 2013 and I am awaiting results. My experience with Hyundai has been the worst experience of any car company, and I am 61 years old. They are rude and arrogant. I will never own another Hyundai or Kia product... Ever!
I purchased a new 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT in January 2014. I bought the Titanium package with my car and about two months later I hit a pothole and ruined my tire. I filed a claim and they not only didnt pay the $200 but never even responded other than to say they needed more documentation (which I submitted). This service is not worth the energy to get a reimbursement! Additionally, my car was advertised as getting 30-39 MPG. I havent averaged over 21 MPG in the past year and I have only 8,000 miles on my car of which 70% are highway miles. Ive tried to deal with this disparity through my dealership (Rogers Hyundai) and have tried contacting Hyundai directly with no response. There should be some compensation for such a huge difference in promised mileage.
When the spring detaches it rubs on the tire. The spring heats up and burns through the tire in 20 seconds, then you will not be able to stare, the car crashes and you may die.
I would give this company 0 stars if possible. My 2016 Sante Fe motor messed up while on a trip out of town. It was covered under warranty. Left car in Arkansas to have it repaired. Was told by consumer affairs the dealership would provide a rental or I could rent and be reimbursed up to $25 a day. We got the only rental available in this small town which was $100/day. I was not contacted by this company for over 3 weeks, stating they have not yet assigned a case manager. When I finally got one, he was no help either. Told them I can’t afford to keep renting. He pretty much had me do all the work!Contact dealerships asking for loaner, which they say they don’t have. They really need to change their policies. Asked them to tow it to my local dealership thinking they could repair it more quickly. Of course, they left that up to dealership too, which refused. So now 10 wks later, car still not fixed and over $5k in rental costs. They need to take responsibility for these dealerships that represent the Hyundai brand! The only explanation they give is we have no control over the dealerships. I actually love my car, but this company in general needs to improve on service. I won’t ever purchase another Hyundai based on this experience.
My only advice is that you check the Hyundai out carefully: repeat to the salesman every word he tells you about the price. If he says the car is fine, dont take his word for it. We love the car but we were lied to about the price. The car was for my wife, we test drive like 8 different makes and models that day. I paid cash or cashiers check for the car. If my wife didnt like as much as she did, I would of never bought it, because of the lies.
I purchased a Hyundai Elantra Turbo back in September 2017. I have just recently been diagnosed with stage III colon cancer and have not worked for over a month and not sure when I will be getting back to work. I called the finance company for Hyundai and ask them if I could delay a few payments and add them onto the end of my lease. Their response was that there was nothing that they could do for me. I’m very disappointed! Upset! The way I feel right now if I could turn in my car and lease from another company that would have a little more compassion I would do it in a heartbeat! I will never buy another Hyundai based on this experience.
The Hyundai extended warranty is a joke, I purchased one in 2007 with my new Tucson. However, absolutely nothing that has gone wrong on my car was covered. The A/C blower is intermittent. Its connector was not covered because its in the passenger compartment, only $600. The air bag light comes on, turns out the seat belt assembly isnt covered either, another $500. The warranty apparently only covers items that you cant see or touch and items that they cant find a way for you to see or touch. To top it off, there is nothing that tells you exactly what parts are covered. That information is only available at the dealer.
Bought a 2012 Hyundai back in 2020 for my older daughter with 100,000 miles on it, she drove the car for 10,000 miles and the Piston Slap started to occur, drove it right to Hyundai - get the call the motor is bad, next call Hyundai will not cover it because you are the second owner, only covered for 80,000 miles but hey if you were the first owner there would not be a issue. First off who buys a car anymore with less than 100,000 miles and a ton of money. Even with the Class Action Lawsuit they are picking and choosing which engines they will replace. We are a Hyundai family. Have owned of 6 of them and sad but true this is our last, and I will never ever recommend one to anyone.Stay away, dont make the same mistake as us, bought car for 5,000 and Dealership wants $9300 to replace the engine... This will never happen. Hyundai needs to go bankrupt and call it quits because they are not here trying to make it better for these 10s of thousands people that are out a car, plus money, time spent on making calls to corporate, filing complaints all over the place just to be told over and over and over you were denied. Just at the Dealership we are at over 5 other cars sitting there because they have denied.
The 2012 Hyundai Sonata is pretty and stylish inside and out. I bought the Limited Trim with all the bells and whistles. Problems: The steering began to tug to one side while the car was still under bumper-to-bumper warranty. We took the car several times to the dealership and they could not see anything wrong with the vehicle. I was told this behavior was within Hyundais specification and that it was normal for the vehicle. This is the first vehicle that I have owned that has this abnormal normalcy. This problem has not gone away. Vibration. I cannot tell you enough how irritated I have been with this vibration. Once you go over a certain speed (Im not sure at the moment, but Im not talking of highway speed - just normal in-town speed), the car begins to vibrate. Ive gone to the dealership over and over and over. I am tired and angry that a brand new 2012 car will behave this way and the people at the dealership cant figure out what the seems to be the problem.Not too long ago, my wife and I noticed that when turning the vehicle made a certain noise as if something was about to break, as if some metal was hitting another metal. The dealership said it was a steering column problem and we had to pay out of pocket to fix it since we have put over 60,000 miles on the car. The car has gone out of bumper-to-bumper warranty. The lingering problems (listed above), I have to fix out of pocket. It will take a lot, a whole lot, for me to buy a Hyundai vehicle ever again. I loved the roominess and stylishness of the Sonata, but it seems that those are about all it has. I am very disappointed in this vehicle to say the least. My 2009 Chrysler 300C never gave me these troubles.
I got a brand new 2013 Hyundai Accent from a dealership in Burlington, Ontario, in late December of 2013 (almost January of 2014). The car started falling apart in September 2016. Not worth the money, folks!
I bought a 2011 Hyundai Tucson about a year ago and was promised bells and whistles (which I knew in part werent true), but the one that appeared real was free maintenance for 3 years. To a single mom on a budget, that sounded spectacular. I even watched as the dealer and loan officer wrote down this promise multiple times, but when it came to signing my contract I did not double check to see if my free maintenance for 3 years promise had been recorded.When I called to make my regular service appointments, everything went smoothly at first. After about the third appointment, service fees started appearing and suddenly I was told by the service department that Hyundai never gives 100% free maintenance. Apparently, what was meant by my too good to be true deal was that free maintenance only means free oil changes and that is it. Everything else will cost you. Driving my Tucson is just fine, but being duped puts a sour taste in my mouth every time I step into my car. Im on the fence about buying from Hyundai again. No matter how much one tries not to get screwed over by dealers, it seems they always find another way to get you.
Do not use this car dealership to buy a used car. I bought a 2005 Mercury Mountaineer. The car was used and I realized used cars have problems, but they knowingly reset the engine codes on this car to clear bad catalytic converter codes out of the car computer (there has to be laws against this). A couple days after I had purchased the car the check engine light came on. When I took it to a local dealership the dealer told me that with a reading that high the cars had to have been bad for quite some time. So the car was misrepresented to me during purchase. The car also had traction control light on and traction control not working, a problem with the accelerator (which could be the transmission I dont know yet) and a cracked windshield. The car also had 4 different kinds of tires on it, a couple had dry rot and didnt seem safe to me (consequently I replaced the tires first, they werent safe). The online listing didnt represent any of these details and neither did the dealer. I drove all the way from Dallas to Sherman to purchase the car. After spending the time to drive from Dallas to Sherman we got the sum total of about 10 words out of **. This is after he told us he would be available when we got there. Instead he worked with someone that was obviously buying a more expensive car. Dont buy a car from liars and cheats, stay away from this dealership. This dealership clearly should get out of the used car market, most new car dealerships stand behind the used cars they choose to sell on their lots and guarantee them. This dealership however does not fall into that category. You may be ok buying a new car here but I would strongly advise you to not buy a used car from them. They shouldnt be selling them. To top all of this off, they knew I was buying this car for a first time 17 year old female driver. Can you believe it, shame on them. I will fork out the money and fix what they should have. All I asked is they help cover the catalytic converter because they are at fault with this. I would have done the rest. But they refused so I am choosing to review them and let the consumer chose to use them or not based on my review. I hope you dont for your sake.
Recently my 2011 Sonata wouldnt start. The dealer replaced the bendix (by the starter), with the mechanic stating that he repairs 4/5 of these a day!? At only 27,000 miles, WHY did this bendix (evidently made out of plastic), not function?!? (Fortunately, my vehicle is still under warranty). AM I TO EXPECT THIS PART TO MALFUNCTION EVERY 27,000 miles?!? I understand that other dealers (Service Mgr.) ARE ALSO HAVING THIS PROBLEM.
Love this Hyundai SUV! We have over 200,000 miles on it and it just keeps going and going! Weve gone on many road trips and it handles like a dream. Weve traveled from CA to Florida a couple of times and never any problems. The car holds all our luggage on road trips, keeps us protected and fun to drive. I love the heater/air conditioner, smooth ride, the rear seat folds down to hold our luggage on long trips and for any big items we may buy and very comfortable to sleep in if we need to. But I wish they would make it a little better on mileage.
I recently purchased a 2013 Hyundai Elantra and I was sold a higher model which cost me an additional $1,700 + taxes as I required the Bluetooth technology for my cell phone as I conduct work in my car. I was assured it works with all cell phone models and after purchasing the vehicle, the option does not work with my Blackberry 9900. After researching the issue, it is a known problem that Hyundai Canada is aware of. Despite contacting them and sending in a formal complaint to their customer relations department, they refuse to do anything to remedy the situation. I’m very dissatisfied and I will never recommend a Hyundai to anyone I know. I am disappointed with the fact that the product doesnt work (doesnt synch). But what is more upsetting is that they simply brush me off and refuse to find me a suitable solution. I will be forced to go purchase a new device and incur additional charges (~$700) just so I am able to use their Bluetooth technology with a phone model that their product is compatible with.
Hyundai in Newman, Ga was the worst experience ever buying a car. I was paying cash. Of course they talked me into the tech pkg and took me $2500 over budget. I was told to just finance that amount. Ok, fine, I said because I knew it would be paid off before the first payment was due. Well they didn’t like that and came back and said they couldn’t finance anything under $5000. Ok, still going to have it paid off quickly. Then they came back and said they wouldn’t finance anything under $7500. I had only taken one check with me. It’s a 4 hour drive. I told the guy that and he said to go get another check. I was walking away when my husband decided he was sick of this to find a bank up there and do it. After all this, it turns out the car I ended up with did NOT even have the tech pkg.I have never been so disgusted with a dealership ever! I will NEVER purchase another Hyundai again. Just not worth it. I hate having to see my car. They ruined what should have been an easy sale. By the way, the car was paid off within a month and they made a grand total $41. in finance charges. Stay away from Southtowne Hyundai!
I was on my way to work this morning and a tractor trailer nearly slammed me from behind. Later, I was flagged by a woman, who nearly ran into the back of me, and told that I had no break lights. Now I knew why the tractor trailer nearly ran me over in the morning. I went home and checked everything; bulbs, fuses, connections, and pedal. No brakes. So, I looked online for possible reasons for this and found that Hyundai had a major recall for this thing called the break relay switch. So, I looked for something that would show me where it is, how to change it, and possible other reasons for the problem. Nothing. Next, and finally, I called Hyundai and asked if there has been a problem. I was told that there is nothing that they can do and that I should go to the dealer for a check. The woman on the phone told me there are no recalls on my 2011 Hyundai Accent. I asked her if it turned out to be this switch issue that has resulted in the massive recalls for other model years, would they reimburse me or approve me to repair this and she stated that Hyundai would not. I told the lady that this is my 4th Hyundai and I have had few issues. However, losing both brake lights at the same time for no apparent reason is suspect. I am very displeased that, in spite of the million recalls for a seemingly identical problem, they would not reimburse me or approve repairs to it if it is indeed the problem. It is a shame that a loyal customer of a product and who has spent almost $100K with a company, is not honored for the loyalty given. It will be a shame for Hyundai if, for the price of a $10 part and service charge, they lose a customer. So, Hyundai, if you read this, tomorrow I am going to follow your advise and drive my car to the dealer. If they tell me it is the brake relay switch, I will trade my car in and never purchase another vehicle from your company if you or dealer do not do the right thing for a part that seems to be responsible!
I purchased a brand new Hyundai Elantra GT. I have had the car for less than 6 months and have just experienced my 3rd flat tire having to replace each one. Two blowouts and one bubble. When I wrote to them their response was to just give me a list of tire companies and phone numbers. I bought the car to be reliable and now Im afraid any given moment I may be stranded on the side of the road. My old used car went 7 years and only had one flat but a brand new Elantra has 3 in 6 months.
From the hundreds of complaints I have read about Hyundai and their airbag lights, Im beginning to understand that you either live with this problem or you find another car. I pulled out my airbag fuse because Im tired of looking at the light and Im certain that this is a problem that neither I (mechanic for 8 years) or a mechanic at a Hyundai dealer could ever fix. My car is a 2003 Hyundai accent. I maintain this car very well and Im happy with the decent gas millage it gets, but safety is also a huge priority. Im not going to put my life on the line because Hyundai doesnt want to provide support for their customers. Let us know what the problem is so customers like myself could at least fix it.Obviously, this is a consistent and similar problem, otherwise you wouldnt have so many thousands of people complaining. Tells us and make the solution affordable, quit lying to people Hyundai. Glad my other car is a Nissan and not another Hyundai. Hyundai = embarrassment.
I purchased a 2019 Hyundai Tucson Ultimate about two weeks ago. The first week I had it I noticed when it was in the sun the back bumper and lift gate had these 3D swirls in the Black Noir Pearl paint. The dealership had the car redone with Zurche but still had the same issue. I took it back to the dealer and they had someone buff the entire car. This made the situation worse as the marks were still in the paint and he did a poor job detailing the car. I took the car home and spent 3 hours detailing the car myself to fix the issue from the detailer. Regardless to say the marks are still there. My wife noticed today that I have a big scratch under the spoiler. The dealership was going to allow me to pick another car, but they did not have any and it had to be today. So to make a long story short I wish they would just take the car from me like I never bought it. Very dissatisfied customer for a car that is only 2 weeks old when it was valued at 35 thousand dollars.
It is a comfortable vehicle to drive with all the adjustments a driver can make to be not tired out on a trip. My wife and I took a trip from Western PA to the state of Washington and neither of us had aches and pains from the trip to and from either location home. We were very surprised at mileage we got on the trip. All in all we were so pleased with the car we ended up purchasing another. It feels like a luxury vehicle at a low price.
The 2006 Hyundai Accent had low maintenance and also the cost for repairs and the upkeep for the vehicle was always very inexpensive. In addition the vehicle had great mileage on gas which helped when gas was $5.00 a gallon. It was also compact in size which made parking easy and had a 4 cylinder engine. There was a brief recall on the car for issues with the back brake light staying on after the car was shut off but the manufacturing department took care of the problem at no cost.
I leased a Genesis. I made all the payments on time. I turned it into Lexus when I lease a Lexus. They claim there was excessive wear and tear because a lens had a crack. They state I owe them $608 for a crack they did not even measure with the ruler. I will never have a Hyundai or Genesis again. They do not bother responding to BBB. They just send a standard email.
To make a long story short I would not buy a Hyundai ever again. My car caught on fire November 2019. I dealt with recalls after recalls. Also there are many other stories of peoples Hyundai’s catching on fire as well. They obviously don’t think of the safety of their customers.
The Hyundai Equus is a full size ultra-luxury auto that does everything at the highest levels. The ride is like floating on a cloud, 429 HP packs a punch, lots of leg room and trunk space and the car is beautiful on the outside. Cost is substantially less than any vehicle with similar features. Home run!!!
My wife and I purchased a brand new 2011 Hyundai Tucson based on the consumer safety ratings. We had a baby on the way so safety was important to us. On September 23rd 2011, six months after driving the vehicle off of the lot, I got a frantic call from my wife saying the car was smoking. I told her to pull over and I would come get her and we would call a tow truck.Within two minutes I received another call. This time the car, she told me, was engulfed in flames. Se narrowly escaped being trapped in the car, since the automatic locks were locking and unlocking in a ghostly manner and was trapped momentarily in the car, along with our 4 month old son, inhaling electrical smoke. Thankfully they both got out alive.The investigation concluded an electrical fire had started and the vehicle was a total loss. I have never experienced such rudeness on the phone as I attempted to contact many representatives from Hyundai Consumer Affairs. Hyundai is a disgusting company. They told us that Americas Best Warranty did not cover this. Never buy a Hyundai. Your life may depend on it.
I have had a warranty claim submitted since my car was new (3 years ago). I have had the car in to service this claim 4 times and the last time (today), they made the problem worse, not better. They appear to never intend to repair the problem. This is a smaller issue with the near-criminal salesmanship I experienced when I bought the car. Please suggest on how I can repair my problem when they appear to not honor the warranty. Thanks.
Two weeks ago we were driving and all of a sudden the engine shut off, no warning lights were on at all at the time this happened. We had Hyundai Roadside assistance tow the vehicle, (waited 2 hours for them) to the closest Hyundai dealer. The next day the dealer called and said the engine was shot, and they had to take it apart to send pictures to the corporate office. 5 days later they called and said Hyundai denied the warranty for Lack of Maintenance. The car only as 46,000 miles, and we have had oil changes. The dealer said they found sludge in the engine. Hyundai never asked for any receipts for oil changes, and just denied the claim. I then called the 800 customer service number, to be told that there was nothing they could do, all complaints were handled through the Better Business Bureau. I asked to speak with whomever denied the claim and they refused. So now I have a complaint into the BBB, but Hyundai has not responded. I dont understand how they advertise the best warranty and then deny all claims. I have researched the internet and found many people has had the same thing happen to them. How is this legal? Our vehicle is leased, so they know we have to fix it before the end of the lease. This seems like a scam, since we have to fix it. We also found at least 5 other Hyundai owners who reported the exact same symptoms as ours on the same make, all of which were denied by Hyundai. I will never buy another Hyundai, they are criminals running a huge scam. Dont believe the salesman when they tell you they have the best warranty. They dont honor it. Dealer told me there is nothing they can do to help. They said that they have seen sludge in the engine in other Hyundais and ours was not that out of the ordinary. However they claim their hands are tied, and all warranty decisions are made by corporate.
My brand new 2011 Hyundai Sonata 2.4L GLS engine blew up at 18,000 miles on I-10, 670 miles from our home. We had the car fully serviced prior to our trip, 10 days to be exact. This was the second long, distant road trip with this new car. We almost lost our lives. What saved us was an exit we were approaching at the time and experience driving. It sounded like parts were flying in every direction.This story would not have gotten out, if we were dead. But, we are alive, well, and ready to tell the world our story. Upset and confused at that moment the car stopped, we just could not believe that a brand-new car would blow an engine. We called the Hyundai consumer care department for help. We were interrogated before they asked me, Where is your exact location? My cell phone battery could have died before they got our location. You would think that in this day where computers rule the day, all the information would flash before them after we gave them the ID of the vehicle and name of the people calling would be sufficient to start the ball rolling. No! She asked for my ID then my driver license, then the ID of the vehicle, then the registration. I had to stop her and asked, Would you like to know where we are? While you locate someone close by to pick us up, you could get all the information you want as we wait. She said yes. We had someone there who stopped to help that was on their way to work and were waiting to give the exact location where the car stopped. Once that ended, it took about an hour for the tow truck to arrive. The tow truck towed the vehicle to the nearest Hyundai dealership close by, 15 miles away. The dealer service manager looked at the car and determined the engine must be replaced. He called to order a new engine.The engine for 2011 Sonata 2.4L GLS was second or third in line on the back-order list. Not knowing how long it would take to fix, instead of giving us a loaner or a new car to continue on our way, the dealership sent us to rent a car. That was it. We were back on the road, hoping the Hyundai Motor Corp. had our backs. You know, Hyundai Assurance Policy and all that went wrong will be right again. They spent more money penny pinching than it was worth. Good business sense is to always satisfy your customers. I was so very wrong about Hyundai Motors Inc.After the dealership got us back on the road, we were forgotten. No one from Hyundai Motors called to see if we were okay and to investigate about one of their new car engine failing like that. We had to initiate the call again. At our first call, we were given a claims number that we use to reference on our second and third call. No one at the consumer care department could make the connection to us with that assigned claims number. We had to explain our dilemma five times to five different people at the customer care office before I demanded to speak to a supervisor. Every one I call lied to me, promising me that they would personally investigate the matter and get back to me the same day or the next. They did not. At this point, I could see that I was in for a rough ride. This went on for 42 days after the engine blew up. It suddenly occurred to me - wait a minute, did they say I was third in line for that same type engine? Then others must be having the same problem! I started my own investigation, and I was not only sad but worried that I was not going to get any help from Hyundai Motors. All the complaints and reports I found on the internet made me angry that all this information was not in the media sooner to alert people like me and my wife before they took a bite of that rotten, pretty, shiny apple. I contacted the Better Business Bureau to force Hyundai to take the car back, because we were afraid to take it on the road again. We succeeded. But we lost, because we had to go buy another vehicle. We traded a perfectly good car that was paid in full for the 2011 Hyundai Sonata. I was disappointed. I did not find a recall on that engine type. My opinion, of an old mechanic, this engine is a time bomb.
Bought a 2012 Genesis in Dec of 2012. Have had three transmissions in 14 months. Car in shop twice for almost a total of 60 days. They did fix it under warranty... replaced the trannys but still not running like it should. Dealer offered me 3 monthly payments... The Manufacture said... ONE one month... I dont feel safe in the this and the tranny still doesnt seem right... Their customer satisfaction is terrible... I told them where to put their offer of 1 payment... Never buy their products!!!
2012 Hyundai Touring car - Driving 45 mph. Everyone slammed on my brakes. They would not lock up. Hit the car ahead at about 22 mph. No air ages deployed even though it smashed in the hood.
On June 13th, I noticed a rattling when I stepped on the gas of my 2008 Hyundai Sonata. By the time I got to my destination, the car was making such a horrible noise; there was no way it could be driven further. I called the Hyundai customer service number to arrange to have the car towed to the dealer and to make sure my warranty would cover the issue. I was assured that I was still covered under the 10 year 10,000 mile warranty. The following morning, the tow truck arrived and took the car to the dealer. Later that day, the dealer called me to inform me that I would need a new engine and that my warranty would not cover it. The engine would be a used one with 71,000 miles on it and would cost $5600 not including labor. Of course, I immediately called Hyundai and was told that I was misinformed the previous day and that I did not have the 100,000 mile warranty because I was the second owner. They assured me that they would cover the tow and the diagnostic charge but they would not cover a new engine. The reason I bought the car and not the Nissan Altima, which is a much nicer vehicle, was for the exceptional Hyundai warranty. I spent the next few hours on the phone with quite a few rude customer service representatives before I reached a supervisor. I stated my issue for the umpteenth time and he once again told me that despite the fact that the car is only four years old, it is not their problem as the warranty is up. So basically, Hyundai is saying that it is acceptable for a four-year old car to have a blown engine and too bad for me. I am a single mother who has recently been unemployed and I am still paying for this car. Suffice it to say that I will never buy another Hyundai again and I will certainly let everyone I know what my experience has been.
You get a lot with the car. My Tucson has a lot of safety features included. I have checked out other cars that those same features are extra. Lane detection, cross traffic detection. Power mirrors, heated seats, power seats, rear view mirror with several features. Power rear Tailgate, with foot activated feature.
Wondering if anyone with a 2012 Hyundai Sonata has noticed a ring around the sunroof on the inside lining? I am afraid it is mold. Dealer said mold wont grow on the liner. Anyone else experiencing this? I have the car in the shop right now awaiting a pressure test that I am being charged for to find if there is a leak. If there is a leak... guess what? It is not covered under warranty. The warranty for the sunroof runs out at 1 year, 12k miles. Nice, huh?
I leased a 2015 Hyundai Veloster back in July and since then I had nothing but bad experience with this car. Currently it sitting at 5897 miles and already I had to do an alignment. At 2157 miles I caught a bubble on the right front tire and went back to the dealer where I leased it. Right away they told me its my fault. The warranty I was talked into getting at time of purchase was not valid for that work. I was super upset. I know what the man said real clearly. Wow talking about standing behind your product which these people DONT do. Now currently Im having back camera and connecting problem with Bluetooth. I been wanting since September about feeling unsafe about the handling while driving to come with an agreement to trade the car for another Hyundai. I will NOT GET ANOTHER HYUNDAI EVER. I cant believe I have to drive this car like a 80-year-old woman. It take bumps hard. I have to worry about not getting another bubble on the tires. Also when driving over 40 miles an hour car tends to fishtail. Oh well I guess for the next two and a half years I will be making a long service record of this car and well be bringing it into the dealership for every little noise that comes out of it. I wouldnt mind spending a little time at the dealership with free Wi-Fi and free donuts and free coffee. Hyundai is forcing me to stay a car that I feel unsafe with so I will be doing my part and giving them a LONG CARFAX service record. Lets see how they will sell the car after me.
I wish there is a way for me to give zero stars for the unpleasant experience I am having with Hyundai. Within 9 months approximately from the purchase ofmy Hyundai Accent 2016, the car started issuing notifications on my dashboard, with some warning signals as the disconnection of the odometer causes the display to be stuck at zero mph while I am driving, the disconnection between the gas tank, the fuel signal reads wrong, which misleads me regarding the actual amount of gas car contains, etc.In the beginning phase of these issues like 2-3 times, I visited to Hyundai dealership where the technicians did their best to assess & understand the root cause of the problem and in order to fix it. Every time the technicians serviced the car and per their knowledge, they fixed the issue permanently and in few months the issue returned, and I had to re-visit the dealership. Past 3 years with this brand-new car purchase with the hope of living hassle-free life with my car turned into an exhausting nightmare. As of today, I visited dealership 10+ times specifically to fix this issue, the dealership technicians who themselves promised and were sure that the issue was fixed, were puzzled upon my return carrying the same issue.After being assessed multiple times on presenting the problem, the technicians concluded that my car has a manufacturing issue and there is not a permanent resolution for said. I would be happy if this conclusion was given in the beginning phase when I raised a ticket for this issue, it could have saved me 3 years of mental torture with this car that I am trying to fix. When I went for purchase Hyundai welcomed me like family and now when I am suffering from the malfunctioned car they sold, Hyundai takes no responsibility!!IF ANYBODY IS READING THIS REVIEW, PLEASE CHANGE YOUR MIND AND DO NOT BUY ANY HYUNDAI CAR. Even I can save one person making the same mistake I did, it will be a success.
Three weeks ago, I went to the Hyundai dealership in Huntington, NY 11743 (Long Island). I was interested in leasing a 2013 Hyundai Sonata GLS. My salesmen Bob ** had asked me which model I was looking at and I told him the 2013 Hyundai Sonata GLS. Mr. ** brought around a grey and what he said was the GLS. I test drove it and was pleased as to how smooth and quiet it drove, so I then decided to lease one and decided on black with grey interior. I arrived at the dealership and picked up my car. I drove it home and noticed that it was driving not at all as the demo. It was loud and there is a clicking sound coming from under the hood. That same day I called my salesman up, told him and brought it right to him. He claims that he didnt hear anything unusual and what I was experiencing was normal. I asked him why I didnt experience this with the demo and he didnt have an answer for me. Then they scheduled an appointment for me to bring it into service to look at it. It was there all day and they claim nothing was wrong. To make sure I wasnt losing my mind, I test drove another GLS in their lot and that was better than mine. The salesman said it drives the same as mine. I then went to their Hicksville dealership, test drove a GLS and that drove quiet and had no ticking sounds. I went back to Huntington and the sales manager Steve ** listened to the vehicle and claims that he didnt hear anything wrong. I drove the car and the sales manager was in the passenger seat. He refused to drive it and said nothing was wrong and he cant do anything for me even after I told him that I test drove other GLS and they were fine, unlike my car. The sales manager also refused to actually drive my car and see. He said, I am too busy. I am not test driving your car. I then went to the West Islip dealership and explained to them whats going on. A salesman there came out and listened to my car and he heard the ticking sound. He said that is not normal. Even in front of his manager he said he heard the ticking sound. I am so beyond frustrated. Getting a new car is supposed to be enjoyable and all I want to do is cry. Its now three weeks that I have the car. Something is definitely not right. Please help me.
I have a santa fe sport and sonata purchased within 1 year of each other. There have been several warranty issues on both cars. The company is horrible to deal with. MOst recently I called the company because of the issues I had with the dealership and they were no help because the dealerships are all independent, but the next closest dealership is over 1 hour away and you have to go to a dealer for warranty issues. When I spoke to their customer service about rental reimbursement for warranty issues, they said they do that, but dont guarantee (since it may not be a warranty issue and they dont know for sure until the car is fixed). I asked if there was a certain type of car I needed to rent and they said no and said it would be ok to get something similar to the car I own and that would be considered when issuing reimbursement. So I got a mid size SVU rental because I have a santa fe sport and then they would only reimburse about half of what I paid. If they would have been up front with me and said, the max we reimburse is $** then I would have tried to find a cheaper rental. So my warranty repair cost me over $200 in rental fees.
When I purchased my Kia (At Hyundai), it was used so the dealership offered me an extended warranty that they sold, so I bought because you know, it’s a used car. Well last week my engine locked up on me randomly on the highway so my initial thought was “Call Hyundai because they sold my warranty to me.” So I did, and they came and towed my vehicle. Well until my extended warranty covered my repairs, I could not get a loaner so I was stuck with nothing. The next day I called and they informed me that I needed to provide proof of all my oils changes but I’ve only ever gone somewhere once to get it done. Others were done outside of a shop because I mean a lot of people do that (wasn’t done by me). They needed AT LEAST two from an actual mechanics shop (per my warranty although the warranty just states I need proof of oil change even though just giving them a receipt wasn’t enough). Well I didn’t have what they needed. So they asked if they could be approved for 2 HOURS of labor so they could get to the issue of my locked engine, through email, which was fine at the time because I was like whatever I just need my car fixed and I thought they were trying to help me out. Well two days go by, I had left the GM TWO voicemails, and no returned call so I drove up there myself to talk to him. THAT WAS A JOKE. He basically said my warranty wouldn’t cover it because it looks like it was a neglect on my end but he wanted me to keep it there “just in case”. A couple days later I find out about a settlement going on between Kia & Hyundai where they are having to replace certain models engines (A LOT that is) because of the recall on them. Hyundai swore they spoke with someone at Kia and asked if there was any recall or extended warranty on my motor, and the guy at Kia said no. COME TO FIND OUT that is NOT what the guy at Kia said and what’s crazy is Hyundai KNOWS about the protocols for this recall on my motor because they have the same issues with theirs!! They then blamed me for it not being fixed and having to owe because I “interrupted” the inspection being done by Apex, but the ONLY reason I did was because I needed a loaner ASAP and Kia promised I’d have one as soon as I got my car over there because they knew the issue fell under the settlement agreement that Hyundai knew about too but stated they were told I didnt have an extended warranty with the settlement which is why they went through Apex. But, Apex would have seen the engine was locked and known about the settlement which would have resulted in them denying the repairs. AND HYUNDAI knows that they would’ve have had to send it to Kia anyways due to my engine being locked, but they decided to take it into their own hands so they could make SOMETHING off of me. I not once signed ANY paperwork because they were communicating with me through EMAIL (how professional I know). And then the service department got MAD at me because I called and tried to get ahold of their GM (that was a joke, HE is a joke). He never returned my calls, so I went up there myself and spoke with him (that was also a joke. I don’t even see how he’s a GM).Needless to say, they will not give my car to Kia until I pay them $600 when I only approved them for 2 hours of work. And when I mentioned this, the service manager said it was because they had to reassemble my car before they could tow it, which is fine but I NEVER got a call about this or ANYTHING. When I mentioned THAT, he then replied with “Well I can disassemble it and you can come pick it up that way then”. When I say I will NEVERRRR give this sorry dealership my money EVERRRR again, I mean this with everything in me!!! They take advantage of the fact that I’m a woman and I don’t really know what’s going on.They tried to say “Well even if you pay the $600, you’ll get reimbursed by Kia for it” and after speaking with Kia’s director he informed me that that is NOT true and that it would be EXTREMELY tough to get them to reimburse me. This Hyundai dealership has taken my niceness for granted, and I hope that NO ONE ever gives them their money!!! I know $600 doesn’t seem like much, but I pay for EVERYTHING that goes on in my life, by myself (w/ Carrington’s help too) and I refuse to give my money to these hateful, disrespectful, worst communicators, ANY OF MY MONEY. This place just wanted to make SOMETHING off of me because they knew they’d get basically nothing. What’s sad, is if my car could just get to Kia I would have a brand new motor due to the settlement and be in a loaner car. Right now because of Hyundai, I have gone two weeks having to depend on my mom. And I will be contacting the BBB.May I add that the service department made it very clear that I pissed them off by going to the GM. I am a college student and have two kids who I have to get to school every morning as well as myself to work!! And I’ve been without any kind of vehicle for two weeks. They have ZERO signed papers by me, and I just can’t believe this at all. The service manager said word for word “Well if you’d like I can disassemble it and then you can come pick it up” all because I said they never called and asked for my permission before doing something that would cost me this much.
My experience with Hyundai has been one I wouldnt have expected from a reputable company. I was told I couldnt get any assistance with a car I purchased from them in April 2017. Three months after purchasing the car it was in the shop for a check engine issue. I took the car back to see why it was on when I had just purchased the vehicle. Since then my car has been in the shop a total of 8 times to date. I will continue to expose the misrepresentation Hyundai provides to the public on a daily basis with their commercials and other advertisement. As a consumer we all deserve to have the products we pay for to be operable and in good condition. Nelson a representative of Hyundai informed me I would not have any further resolution if I spoke with a manager because they would only listen to him in regards to my complaint directly. I feel every time someone drives a Hyundai vehicle their lives are in jeopardy due to the negligence on production. My car has been in the shop now for over two months to replace an engine that has been replaced for the second time in a year. I can assure you I will never recommend Hyundai products again to anyone. Do not purchase any Hyundai vehicles no matter what they offer you!!!
No after sale service - Beginning November 2011, we finally bought our dream car (Hyundai iX35 R2.0 CRDi GLS AWD A/T). I worked hard to be able to afford it. Brand new, it is delivered to us in hazy view. We are so happy to get our new dream car. The first week after we got the car, I need to take it to Hyundai Nelspruit workshop so that they can put on the nose bar as they couldn’t do it in time for delivery. That afternoon, when I got back my car and drove home, I saw that the panel where the gears are is scratched (looks like someone took a spanner or something while changing the automatic gears with it in hand). Several days later, I received an sms from the branch asking if I was satisfied with the service, and I replied no, I am not happy at all and told them about the scratched panel. Until today, they haven’t come back to me! In December, we went on holiday to Jeffrey’s Bay. On our way back, just before Kroonstad, we got a flat tire. I changed it and saw that in the inside, it is worn down to the wire, almost 5 cm. I looked at the other one, and it’s the same! We have to drive slowly as we don’t have a spare now. It is a mission to get two new tires in Kroonstad. Finally, we got the tires and after almost 5 hours and R7250.00 later and promises from Hyundai to replace it, we can continue to drive home (the car only has 9,000 km on the clock). So I sent the claim to Hyundai Lydenburg (where we bought the car). It’s now two months later, I do not know how many e-mails and phone calls, and we are still waiting for the money! The car almost has 10,000 km, suddenly the engine light goes on. I looked in the book and it says it has to get to a dealer as soon as possible. It was late at night, so the next morning, we took the car to Hyundai Nelspruit workshop. They put it on the lift and apparently there is an oil leak; we need to leave the car there as we are not allowed to drive with it (it was Monday, 6 February). So we have to rent a vehicle because no courtesy car was available (I talked to Hyundai again, they will pay the vehicle). I got a rental car from Euro Car. The first amount go off on my credit card on 8 February (R8091), and the second on 14 February (R2000), and the third on 6 March (R19,607). With our own car it would have been a bit cheaper to drive! On Thursday, we called the workshop (they said we can get it on Friday) to hear if our car is finished to collect the next day. No, they have to order a seal. A few days later, we phoned again, still not finished. They will only get the seal by 5 March! (I think they plant or grow rubber trees then milk them and only then can they produce a seal). A few weeks later, they called us (for a change) and told us they got the seal and we have to bring in the car so they can put it in. We told them that we can’t bring in the car as it is already standing there in the workshop for 3 weeks now, and that they can just immediately start with it! On Tuesday, we phoned again to hear if they are finished (was supposed to be finished on Monday). It was not. The seal they ordered was the wrong one, but they looked in their storeroom and found one (so actually the car was standing there for weeks now for nothing). They put the seal in, put in the oil, and suddenly there is another leak! And they don’t even phone us, we have to phone them every time! On Monday, 5 March, I stopped at the workshop to get my mailbox key (since it’s almost a month, I couldn’t take out my mail). They sent a young man to accompany me outside to my car to get my key. There my new car is standing way at the back in the sun. I wonder if it’s been standing there for all this time. (I don’t even let my old car stand in the sun for so long).It’s now more than 4 weeks later, I’m tired of begging and phoning all the time. I don’t even want that car anymore. It already gave us so much problems I don’t trust it anymore. We expect Hyundai to give us a brand new car, pay back our money for the tires, pay the bill on my credit card with interest for the rental car and bank charges on the credit card, so their name is not affected. It is the least they can do for us to compensate for all the inconvenience, or we have to take legal action. After I sent this mail to Hyundai, I got an e-mail from Liam from Customer Service saying that Hyundai will only pay for the labor and the seal. Thank heavens, they will pay a R5 seal and me R40,000 for rental and tires. At R4000 a kilometer above the buying of R400,000, I really hope to sell it or let it just stand too expensive for me. This is unacceptable. The public should know about the terrible service of Hyundai before they have to go through what we did. If you read the letter/message of the CEO, Alan Ross, (on their website) it is the opposite of what is happening in reality. In my situation, there is in no client service from Hyundai! Hyundai Nelspruit says they can’t work if there is no part. Hyundai sells thousands of vehicles and there is no part, wow. It’s like me booking in guests and tell them sorry we can’t take you on a game drive. I wonder for how long we still have to wait for our car and all the money? At least Hyundai Lydenburg tried to help us with this mess from Nelspruit workshop via e-mails, etc. I fear the day the car is not under guarantee anymore and I have to pay all the expenses because their service is so bad! I hope you can accomplish something with them.
Under dealer Hyundai warranty...had to be replaced. They did not pay.... Still havent gotten money for repair or car rental....PLEASE STAY away from hyundai cars.... They arent customer reliable... Dont.
I leased a car from Kia back in March of 2012. In the state of RI we have to pay car taxes. So every month I would make my car payment and on occasion I would pay an extra $100 for taxes. I did this for several months assuming that they would apply it towards the car taxes. Come to find out that they do not do this unless you call them every month and specifically tell them to apply it towards the taxes. So they said they would apply it towards the monthly payments. Not the case. Every month I would still receive the original bill amount with no credit applied towards it. Also, I live in RI and for some reason they were sending my bill to my mothers house is the state of California, why? I do not know because the car was only in my name. Anyways when I called the company to ask them where my extra $100 was going every month they had no idea, as it was not being applied towards my monthly payments. No one could answer where my extra money was. I spoke to several people and no one had a clue. My boyfriend works for Kia and had to ask for the assistance of a Kia representative. He looked into my account where he was finally able to find my money. Apparently it was floating around somewhere. Ok so I thought everything was over until my mother received the bill for my 2014 car taxes after I had returned the car in March of 2015. She ended up paying it for me and we thought everything was done, until I got a phone call from a collection agency stating that I had not paid my car taxes for the year of 2014. My mother was very upset because she had paid it with a check so she had to go to her bank and meet with the manager to try and retrieve a copy of the check. It took a lot of time and headache to get this. I ended up calling the Hyundai leasing company and had asked them to send me a copy of my contract and a print out of every single payment that I had made over the 3 years. I received it and upon looking over it, it clearly listed 2 payments they received in the month of March of 2015 and next to it they wrote 2014 taxes. I send a copy of this paperwork to the collection agency. I have not heard anything back from them assuming that it was finally cleared up. This company has no idea how to manage their customers accounts. If they have done this to me imagine how many people they have told that they have not received their payments and people who dont know any better have probably paid again. This company is a fraud and they have turned me off to ever lease another car again. Also, I love the Kia car but this leasing company is giving them a bad reputation because people think they are affiliated when they are not the same company. This experience has been a true nightmare and waste of time.
I was driving to work when my 2014 Elantra with 72,000 miles made a knocking sound and stalled in middle of the road. I had to have it towed to a local station whom assessed and informed me the engine failed and based on how clean the engine appeared he couldnt imagine what happened to this engine. I then had car towed to Hyundai due to I have a contract for 100,000 miles on engine. After they evaluated the vehicle, they DENIED me and refused to cover the engine repair under their PROMOTED, ADVERTISED AND PROMISED 100,000 mile warranty. So after 4 years of paying on this car, I am STILL making monthly payments for this car. Hyundai refused to stand by their commitment to repair the engine!!!
My 2013 Hyundai Veloster engine went bad for the 2nd time after six years. The 1st time it was under warranty and it was replaced in five weeks and I received a rental vehicle paid by Hyundai. The 2nd engine failed two years after it was replaced and after a recall was completed at the dealership to correct an ignition issue that could damage the engine. It took ten weeks to replace the engine and I did not receive a rental or loaner car. Hyundai did replace the engine out of warranty but it is obvious that they know they have issues with this engine. Who has two engines go bad in six years? I picked up my car from the service department on a Friday and traded it in on a VW Saturday morning. I will never own a Hyundai ever again!
Previously owned a used Tiburon that lasted more than 10 yrs as a daily driver. Drove it on all kinds of road conditions - why I chose to get a Veloster. Fuel economy is great, handles the road great, plenty of cargo room, looks sporty, bought for a reasonable price. Everything a 63 yo woman could want!
I want to share my bad experience with Freehold Hyundai. I wanted to buy a Sonata. When I contacted them, their salesman Frank quoted a figure which was as per our budget, so we decided to visit them. Antony was the salesman who attended us. I must say he was a good salesman. But when it came to quoting the final figures, he again and again went to his manager Pete **. The figures which they quoted were much higher than what they had initially quoted and we were surprised to hear them. I dont know why they called us to waste our time when we had clearly told them our budget in the beginning. Finally, Pete ** called me inside his cabin (Antony asked my wife to stay out). Pete was such a rude sales manager. I really pity people who hired him. He cracked some jokes, which were personal, and I didnt like them at all. I dont know how he could speak in such a manner to his customers. Very rude, ill-mannered and a guy with attitude problem. He doesnt deserve to be a manager at all. His customer handling is so poor that I dont know how he is running this dealership. In my life, I have never met such an ill-mannered sales manager! There was another salesman in Petes cabin, who was laughing on all this. I felt so insulted. These people are so unprofessional. Pete didnt even offer me a seat to sit. He was sitting in front of me as if he was my boss. I think a roadside vendor has better sales/customer handling skills than Pete.When I showed my displeasure on all this, Pete tried to make the deal. How could he even think I will ever do business with him or recommend his dealership to anyone? This guy is so insensitive about his customers. I am giving this rating for poor customer handling, wrong price commitments and for the insult I faced there.
I wrecked my Hyundai Elantra 2010 on June 10, 2015. I was driving about 30/35 mph. I hit a parked car. My car suffered passenger damage. It separate my dash inside the car on passenger. I had my 4 children with me. None of the 6 airbags in the car deployed, when they should of. I dont feel safe in my car anymore. What can I do about this? Also I seen where my car is on the list for counterfeit airbags as well.
I bought a 2010 Hyundai Sonata new. The first piece of plastic to break was the sunglasses holder. Then the cover for the mirror on the drivers side, the center console clip broke, 4 door handles. The last one I bought 1 month ago, and it broke today. I paid $154 for this one. My husband and I are retired so we are not rough on this vehicle.
Hyundai Finance and Leasing have given me the impression that they think its a great place to work, if it wasnt for the customer. Hours of being on hold. Not getting through. Then Getting through, just to get forwarded to another department, which usually gets you disconnected. Total incompetence! Total lack of any basic communication skills or work function. Cant even catch up a late payment due to no statement being sent, after 36 consecutive ones. No person to talk with to resolve anything. Steer clear of this car company.
I purchased a used 2007 Hyundai Sonata in June of this year. Two weeks after I got it the engine blew. A rod went out the bottom of the engine, through the oil pan, and onto the freeway. This was a known problem and a major recall for the newer models. Since my car wasn’t included in the recall, even though it’s the same exact problem that has caused a major recall, Hyundai won’t do anything about it. So, let me understand this Hyundai... Because of your engineering incompetence and poor customer service I am now responsible for finding $4000 to replace the engine? If it wasn’t a known flaw I’d be happy to say I had some bad luck and that it was just too bad. But this makes me so upset to be treated like I did something wrong by expecting something to be done about their faulty product. I’m not asking for a brand new car, I just want my car fixed and even a used engine would be fine! I’m not asking for too much I don’t think. I have contacted Hyundai and their response was that it’s out of warranty so tough luck. Yeah, thanks Hyundai, never again!!
My 2017 Hyundai Elantra is not the worst but a long way from the best in its class. Performance is pretty good. Theres a lot of road noise that makes its way into the cabin and its been thru 2 batteries for some reason.
I bought my i10 car from your dealer at Chandigarh KLG Hyundai in the year 2011 on 31.12.2011, vide my car no is **. I noticed that my seat rail bracket got rusted badly. Both driver and co driver when I noticed that this problem is not there in my 15 year old Maruti CAR.
Purchased car new a few months ago and since then the car sways dangerously at highway speeds. I have numerous time almost had accidents with this car going into other lanes on its own. Hundreds of people on many sites are complaint of the same issue and Hyundai is refusing to do anything about it. Its a huge safety issue and someone is going to get seriously hurt or killed.
When headlights are in the auto position, they sometimes do not go off. This has caused the battery to be fully discharged. With the key fob in the car, the doors have locked. This happened at the dealership and car washes, as well as my home when I have tested it. The car has been in the shop for five times, three of those times overnight, and is now at the dealership for twelve days with no results. I have written to Hyundai, the Better Business Bureau and had a lawyer look into it. Hyundai claims they cannot find the problem and will do nothing.
Hyundai makes great cars. The reviews on the Hyundai cars were all good and better than most models this size. I own a Hyundai Sonata 2010 and a 2016 model. I owned a 2015 Hyundai Genesis Coupe, this was the best car I`ve ever owned.
I am completely disgusted with this finance company and people need to be aware of what they are dealing with when it comes to getting a loan from HMF. I set up auto-pay so that I would ALWAYS have a timely payment on my three year loan. Paying on time is very important to me and auto-pay seem like the best solution to Hyundai getting their money on time, every month.It came down to the last payment and this payment was never auto-deducted. Unfortunately for me, I didnt realize this policy of theirs that the last payment would NOT be auto-deducted. What made this so bad is that I didnt find this out until I was 45 days late in payment and Hyundai had already reported this on my credit! I still cant get over them reporting me to the credit bureau when they could have easily communicated what they needed from me to take their last payment.I immediately called to get clarity on why they were telling me I was late in payment with this statement I received just today when they had full ACCESS to my checking account!! They told me that they have a policy built in the contract that states first and last payments are NOT auto-deductible. OK, so somewhere in the fine print is this policy when I bought the car. Being a long time Hyundai customer that is always receiving mail from them, I find it interesting that a courtesy reminder notice with the last statement isnt enclosed for people that rely on auto-pay?I just know that I dont deserve to have my credit dinged because of some nonsense they put in a contract I signed three years ago! I have never made a late payment on the car and common sense would tell you that I counted on THEM to take what was owed out of my account. Obviously, they do this to make a few dollars on interest and late fees. The consequences to an honest consumer with something like this are that they will have their credit report dinged and a fight on their hands to correct it. This is no small matter. This incident is enough to not only make me committed to NEVER buying another Hyundai, but to put the word out there to others to NOT do business with them - at least when it comes to loans. HMF is the lowest of the low. The car itself, a used 2008 Elantra, has been a pretty good car to have. Still, Hyundai lost a customer because of this. BTW... their customer service are some of the rudest people I have ever dealt with too!!! No empathy, no care. I was treated like a dumb deadbeat. Never again!
I am completely disappointed with the condition in which the brand new Santro GLS was delivered to me by Express Hyundai Velachery, Chennai. I had to give the vehicle for service on day 1 of delivery. If this is the condition of your new vehicles, I can only Imagine what will happen to them after few months of usage. I now regret that I made a wrong choice going for Hyundai. Having spent 4.5 lakhs for a vehicle I am travelling back home by public transport, this is an insult that these guys can never compensate. I will address in all internet & online forums until I get a proper response. To those, Sales and Quality control VPs happily sleeping back home, please wake up!! You have a very dissatisfied customer who was sold with a defective piece of crap. Below are the issues and I have a copy of the Repair Order given to me by the service team.1. Wheel Alignment issue -Vehicle Pull Drift in LHS, 2. Issue in Engine - Engine Check Warning remaining On, 3. Interiors Malfunction - Front LHS window Switch in broken condition, 4.Tyre pressure issue, weak nozzle.Apart for the delivery issues, the below additional fittings were not given to me at the time of delivery (as promised by the Sales Agent, when I booked the Vehicle). 1.Parking Sensor not installed, 2.Window visor not installed, 3.Seat Cover Different from what was promised to me at the time of sale.Hope you can understand the reason for my frustration and feeling of insult, the car that you sold to me has issues in all departments, engine, wheels, interiors, seats, you name it and you can find a defect in it. I HATE HYUNDAI.
Ive taken in my 09 Hyundai Sonata twice to get the airbag light fixed, under warranty at the time. It still keeps coming on. Now, not under warranty, I cant afford the $109 to have it reset yet again. Why isnt Hyundai fixing the problem? I assume they are just doing a reset on the light and not actually fixing the problem. Now I cant pass state inspection and am very disappointed. I like the car itself, but this is ridiculous! I have read that this is a problem with Hyundai, yet no fix?
I bought a 2011 Hyundai Sonata last year and two weeks after I got it, it started giving me problems. I started having a problem with the wires under the driver seat and the next problem was the car wouldnt start. They told me that it was a pin in the transmission. They call me the next week from the dealership and told that the car was ready. I went and got it one week later. It wouldnt start again and it wouldnt say nothing. I call the dealership and I told the salesman that it wouldnt start and he told me to call that 1800 roadside service and I did. They came to my moms house in Georgia and got it. I have been having problem with it starting and every time I tell, they would tell me that they didnt see anything wrong. My warranty is about to go out and I try to trade it at Five Star in Macon, GA but they told me that I owe too much to trade it. So I need a car because I cant pay for it and getting it fixed too. I just cant do it so Im going to have to let it go back and I was trying not to to mess up my credit but I need a dependable car. My mom & dad are sickly and I dont know when I have to get up and go and see about them. Will you please tell me how I can get the help that I need and someone ask why Hyundai didnt buy it back. They know that it is a lemon. It was still new. It had 32000 miles when I got it so will someone please help me? Please.
I recently purchased a 2014 Hyundai Sonata Limited and have had terrible reception with the AM radio. The FM and Satellite radio work fine but all of the AM stations have heavy static. Unfortunately, I listen to AM stations regularly and am very unhappy with their inability to resolve this issue.
Do not buy Hyundai! You will regret it. I was sold a 2017 hyundai from the dealership with about 30k miles on it. This happened while the company knew about all the faults with the 2016-2017 transmission and DCT issues (please research the vast array negative testimonials on this line). I go for services 2-3x per year and before the recommended mileages are hit (I have the receipts and documentation to show this). Despite being continuously proactive, it was not long after I starting dropping thousands in unanticipated repairs. Only 2 weeks after a multi-point inspection and supposed tune-up at Lester Glenn in Toms River, the car started stalling. I had to bring it back for additional diagnostics and repairs. Again, a few months later, I had another service done. Part of it involved a light bulb I could have changed myself but was willing to pay a few extra bucks to have done do to business.My mind changed when the service rep, Chris, attempted to up-charge me ~$150 to change the light bulb, claiming the bumper had to be removed. After some stern discussion on how I knew that was not the case, he only admitted to attempting to upcharge me after I refused that particular fix by them. Yes, he actually admitted to trying to upcharge me. After spending a few hundred on some various fluid changes and checks I went on my way. 2 weeks later, the car transmission goes and it can no longer go in reverse. Going forward it becomes dangerous too as it stalls more and stutters. When I bring it back, Lester Glenn and Hyundai say that a transmission replacement will be $4,700. This is while I still have $11,600 still to pay off on this scam of a car I have only had for 2-3yrs and got at ~30K miles. Neither Lester Glenn or Hyundai Corporate offered my family any help with this situation.They did not even waive/refund my prior diagnostic fees and wouldn’t provide a loaner car when I needed it for work! In fact, other than Shawn (head rep at Lester Glenn?), no one there even feigned sympathy or understanding for the matter. Hyundai has sent me from slightly skeptical to full-blown traumatized about the auto industry. Especially in a time where many are financially hurting from the pandemic, their actions and duplicity completely contradict the integrity claims they attempt to advertise. I cannot warn you enough to stay away from their products and from Lester Glenn’s service. I don’t want this happening to anyone else!
Single mother of 3 small children. Barely scraping by only to have my Hyundai that is still under warranty blow the engine. Drop it off at dealership and was told a week till they could look at it. It’s been a month! And $1400 in rental car fees that I don’t have! Now I am completely without a vehicle and NO ONE, not consumer affairs, case manager, service dept itself can give me at the very least an ETA on when I can have my car back. Pathetic way to run a company. The guy who sold me this lemon at Hyundai of Fort Myers, the people refusing to call me back at Gainesville Hyundai and Corporate Hyundai who basically just say “I’m sorry” but have no solution. I want to thank you for putting my job on the line and leaving me and my kids stranded. I will never buy another Hyundai again!!
We have a 2009 Hyundai Sonata with the 2.4L 4 cyl engine. Engine made a knocking noise then locked up about 3 hours from home. Over time we had some minor issues with the car but were very happy with it overall. These included an oil leak covered under warranty, broken starter part, not covered, transmission not shifting properly, reprogram of transmission computer covered under warranty, and a broken door handle, not covered. The plastic starter part and door handle are known issues.When the engine locked up we were towed by AAA (wonderful folks!) 3 hours back home. I called the service department and was informed that there was a $101 fee to diagnose the problem. I dont work for free so I dont expect their mechanics to either. I indicated that the car was out of warranty by 2002 miles but asked that if they could do anything for me I would appreciate it. Service writer was polite but didnt give me a warm fuzzy feeling. A sales associate did offer to give us an appraisal of our dead car toward another Hyundai. Fat chance of that happening. When it was all said and done there was no offer of help from Hyundai other than to install a high mileage salvage engine for about 4 thousand dollars. I have taken the repair to a shop who I have done business with for years. I will never purchase a Hyundai of any kind again nor will I suggest the purchase of one.
It was in decent condition and within my budget range. I like the gold color and its good on gas. Its reliable and comfortable enough to get to and from where I need to be. Otherwise, its an average car with average features and has some issues, but thats typical for a used car. Maintenance is expensive, I wish it wasnt as much to upkeep. Its also an older car, so its features work but are pretty dated. Also, the beige upholstery is god awful and dated.

Out of the last 5 years I have owned my Hyundai I have had 4 door handles break and latches on inside to visor mirror & center console break within the first year of owning the vehicle. And I dont have children and never use these doors! It seems these are very cheaply made causing a huge inconvenience! 2 door handles repaired in the past 3 years and now 2 more are broke the same way this last year that have not been repaired. This has become very pricey and unnecessary to have to maintain to have working door handles. I have owned many cars in my life and never had this problem! Why arent these considered recalls??? I feel I should not have to continue to pay for the replacements of the handles and latches! I would like Hyundai to be responsible to repairing these items as they are currently not in working condition! Sincerely, Frustrated Hyundai owner.
Hyundai has totally misrepresented the mileage. I purchased a 2013 Elantra; I get 24-City, 28-Highway. I have taken the car into the dealership to complain. They told me they find nothing wrong with the car. They told me it was my driving. I was told I need to coast whenever possible. On the street or the highway when I hit the crest, I must take my foot off the gas and coast and then I would improve my mileage. I hate the dealership and this car. I purchased the car because of the 30-38 MPG, and it is simply not true. Do I have any recourse? I would definitely join a class action case against them. Please advise.
We purchased a 2014 Hyundai I40 from the main dealership in Stratford-upon-Avon. We were contacted to notify is the vehicle of been through the workshop and was ready for collection. Within an hour I realised the clutch was faulty as it had to be pushed to the floor before you could select a gear. I returned it to the garage within an hour. The head of sales said yes, there is a fault on the clutches. We can do a temporary fix until Hyundai release the relevant parts to rectify the fault. What beats me why sell a car, knowing it has a defective clutch. I know I can return the car and get my money back but I have been assured by Hyundai UK. The clutch will be rectified by the middle of June. According to the dealership, there are hundreds of I40s out there with defective clutches. So if you have a problem take it back and demanded it is fixed.
I have been a customer of Hyundai for over 5 years, I recently had a bad oil leak on my IX20 which I had bought from new. They explained that the repair would be done under warranty and that a courtesy car would be provided. Unfortunately thats where the problems started. Hyundai courtesy car insurance only cover people between the age of 21 to 69 so it was suggested that I add the courtesy car to my insurance but when I contacted my insurance company that told me that they could not insure a car that is already insured. My car will take three days to repair. The suggestion given by my insurance company and the Hyundai dealer is that I hire a car to cover the 3 days. It seems Im being penalised for a Hyundai manufacturing failure.
We received a new car warranty with 4 years remaining and a used car warranty which would replace the new car warranty for additional 10 years. We took our car to Merced Hyundai for servicing. They had serviced our car before. I said the engine was making a funny sound. I spoke to the technician who said that Hyundai and Kia engines had been having breakdowns. They begin to work on the car and suddenly they ran into some difficulties. Suddenly Hyundai wanted all kinds of paper work. This went for some time. I mentioned our warranties. Hyundai Corp. said they do have a new car and used car warranty. They could proceed with repairs with no cost to us. Then the nightmare began.Suddenly they couldnt find parts for our car. The mechanics have been wonderful. They have been looking everywhere. Hyundai Corp. seems like they could care less. At this date we are still waiting for parts to complete the repairs. We are senior citizens my wife is 74 and I am 78. We are on Social Security with part time jobs to make ends meet. Since Hyundai said they could not give us a loaner, we have had to rent a car for seven (7) weeks now. This is a small fortune to us. We have had to go into our savings account to pay for this. We are running out of money. We have talked to Hyundais customer complaint service. All they say is that they are working on it?? Lately, for the past two weeks they have not returned any of our calls for updates on our complaint. Regina seems to have disappeared.We are running out of money and need help. WE NEED OUR CAR!! As of this date, they are still waiting for parts to repair our car. Soon we will be forced to file for bankruptcy because we have to pay the $300 a week to rent a car....for no reason since Hyundai has turned their backs on us. We will have to give up our rental because there is no more money to pay for it....so, we will no longer be able to get to our jobs. Our golden years have become a waste and we are terrified!Frank and Joyce
I purchased a used 2009 Hyundai Accent last November (2014). I have had nothing but problems with this one car owner vehicle. It is a piece of work. I am responsible for paying over $10,000 for this vehicle, that doesnt even run. What can I do and what are my options? Someone has to help me. I am having a meltdown. Is there anyone out here that really cares and gives a damn?
Not only did our Sales guy sell us a car without the one feature we requested (auto-start), but it is now in service for the 3rd time due to what feels like engine failure when accelerating. Last 2 times Hyundai of Paramus service department stated that since they could not duplicate the issue, that they considered the issue resolved. This time, they did a tear down and are telling me it is the automatic clutch. They said that we beat on the car and thats why. I am 40 years old, live in NJ (the land where traffic happens everywhere, every day) and most of the time my 2 small kids are with me. We thought this would be an economical choice, but it looks like we got a lemon. The service dept. District Manager Sean ** denied our claim for this repair to be covered under their amazing warranty, and told my husband to try and dispute the claim with Hyundai corporate. So, we called corporate, and they said that our only option is to contact the better business bureau. Dont do it to yourself. You dont need the aggravation. Take it from me... 5 days later and $400.00 poorer. Hyundai claim number**.
I bought my daughter a new 2004 Elantra GT. The dealer have not been able to correct a starting problem with the vehicle. The dealer could not solve the problem while the vehicle was under factory warranty. And until this time, the dealer have sold us parts that we didnt need, saying that the various parts would solve the starting problem. Nothing they have tried have worked. Never will we ever purchase another Hyundai.
I was recently involved in an accident whereby my car was hit so hard that my tire burst, all 4 doors terribly damaged and my right fender, front bumper split, my radiator bend BUT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY?? It does help Hyundai concentrate so much on having a car on the road that is economical but NOT SAFE.
In July 2015, I bought 2015 Hyundai Sonata limited edition. It comes with 5 year road side assistance. Yesterday June 25, 2016, I went to Twin Lakes State Park for small picnic with my wife and 10 months old son. When I was about to return home around 6:30 PM, I realized that I left my keys in the trunk and the car locked out. My mobile doesnt have any network signal, luckily I have called the Hyundai road side assistance by using my friends mobile. The customer care professional took all my details and said, somebody is going to call me.After 5 mins I got a call from someone and they reviewed my details and said, the warranty on my VIN number is not showing up, and they are going to call the dealer and update me. I didnt get any after 30 mins so I called them back again. The story started from scratch again, they took all my details again and said they are going to send a text message, a driver details and approximate arrival time. I waited for some more time and called again, this time the automatic answering machine was telling that, my request was put on hold and asked me to un-hold. I have opted for un-hold, the story started again, they verified all the details again, but luckily this time the customer care professional was nice and told that, he will take it personally and try to reach the driver right away and update.He kept me on-hold for 10 mins and said, he tried to reach around 10 drivers and none of them are not available right now. He continued and said, he will try to reach more drivers personally and call me back once he gets the driver. All this story lasted for about 2 hours, but I havent got any assurance for any help. No assurance on somebody coming, when...etc. I really felt sad about this, because Hyundai made lots of promises for road side assistance when I bought my car. More importantly I was at the lake almost alone with my friends and 10 months old son waiting for this road side assistance.
