I was driving along a straight road 4 weeks ago when there was a sharp crack. A hairline crack appeared down the plastic decal of the climate control system and the audio system. When I took the car to the dealer they stated that it was a scratch and not a crack and the manufacturers have refused to repair it under the Warranty (there is a 5 year Warranty on this car). I am a 74 year old lady so there are no children in this car to cause a scratch - it is very definitely a crack, but the dealer says it is not. I feel as if I am now in limbo with this.
I like Hyundai alright, but feel like its only a middle of the road car. Little things have broken such as door sensors and windshield wiper motor that were trouble to fix, but didnt break the bank.
I am uncertain if this review is specific to Hyundai Blue Link or Hyundai overall. I am writing this review for solely my experience with Hyundai Blue Link. When I originally went to lease my 2016 Elantra GT I want a remote start. The salesman who was also the sales manager informed me that I couldnt get a remote start installed because the ignition was a push button ignition, but he had a better alternative, HBL. He told me that it was an app on my phone and I could remote start my car from my phone. He said it was $99/yr, which was a better deal because the remote start was $400, and this was a 3 year lease, and he was giving me the first 3 months free! When my first renewal came my credit card was charged $198. I immediately called HBL and explained that my credit card was double charged. The representative explained that my card was not doubled charged; there is a base package called connect to care that all HBL subscribers have to have that is $99/yr, and the remote package is an additional $99/yr. I explained to the representative that, that wasnt how HBL was explained to me; I was not informed about any connect to care package that was mandatory. To compensate me for the confusion the representative extended my services by 3 months for free, but explained from here on out if I wished to have the remote package that I would also have to pay for the base package as well. One year later, I received a notification from HBL that my credit card was going to be charged a renewal fee of $99 on a given date. I called HBL and explained to them that they are 3 months premature in charging my card. They explained that only my connect to care package was extended for the 3 months, not the remote package. I explained that it was my understanding that both packages were extended, and that I didnt want the connect to care, but they were forcing me to have it if I wanted the remote package. I do not recall at this time the entire conversation I had with the representative but towards the end I told the person on the other end that I too was recording the conversation (I lied, I wasnt recording the conversation), and they replied that I didnt have the authority to record the conversation and hung up on me. I immediately called back and long story short, I told the representative that answered my call this time that HBL did not have my authorization to charge my card. The person responded with, I dont need your authorization to charge your card, and it will be charged in the amount of $99 on this date. I ended the conversation with the call center. I called Hyundai motors, and demanded to speak to someone in management. The representative said she didnt have a way of transferring me to someone in management, but she gave me an email to a manager with HBL. Turns out the person she referred me to was the head person over all of HBL. This manager, or VP, I do not recall her title other than she was the head person over HBL, completely sided with me. She pulled my credit card info from the HBL system, and gave me free services through the end of my lease. I believe she also may have fired some individuals but I dont know for sure. Fast forward to current times, I turned my lease in 2-3 weeks early and purchased a brand new Hyundai. I called HBL to transfer my remaining 2 weeks to the new vehicle, but they said that wasnt possible. I have not continued my subscription with HBL with my new vehicle, solely because I feel $198/yr just for remote start is a rip off. I would have given HBL 1 star, but because I was compensated for my troubles I felt they deserved the extra star.
Anyone who has a 2012 Hyundai Elantra please have your coil springs checked. I could have been killed today has I been on the autoroute instead on the service road. The coil spring on the front driver side snapped, blew out my tire and Hyundai only has a recall on the 2011 Elantra. It is not normal for a vehicle with 59,000 km have this issue unless there was a factory defect. I cant stress enough the importance to have the coils checked and if there is an issue make a complaint to Hyundai Canada, Transport Canada and whichever consumer protection agency in your area. Im going to fight this one with Hyundai and post to every social media site possible. This is a very dangerous issue.
Paid a lot of $$$$ for this car, $50000. Ive been driving a Hyundai Sonata 2011 Turbo, has 125000 on it, great car. Looking to buy another Sonata but 2018 models arent as fast as my 2011. Went for a drive, not even close, what happen? The Genesis was in showroom floor. Took for a drive, Wow, the car floats on the pavement. 3 driving modes, sound system you better wear earplugs. Comfort, outrageous. Noise from outside what noise. Looks beautiful. If you never seen the Genesis Emblem you would not know what kind of car this is. Kudos to Hyundai. Awesome car.
I called asked for an estimate three days before I scheduled repair. I was told 330 for labor to do a knock sensor replacement. I ordered part at dealership which was 74.20. I went in today. 1 hour and 36 minutes. Charged me 480.00 for labor, 28.80 misc charge 508.80. I dont think current mechanics get 500 an hour then tell me that my repair isnt warrantied because I didnt have them put on computer there. I am on disability and this took every cent I had.
I have got a used Hyundai Sonata 3 months ago. So wanted to register for BlueLink so found it was registered on a travel as the car was used to rental service. So called almost 25 times but the customer care always said two days one week but till now I have the same issue. My BlueLink is not registered. I got a reference number ** which I think is no use. If you all can’t do the service properly then better remove that app from the car. It’s waste to buy Hyundai when they cannot do what they have promised.
2011 Sonata is a Bright Yellow Lemon. Worst car I have ever owned. Constantly needing service and engine had to be replaced at 85K. My wife wont drive the car because she doesnt trust driving with kids in car. It is literally falling apart and every day there seems to be a new issue or a recall. As I write this review I am waiting for my car to be towed because yet again...it wont start.
From yesterday tried register complaint. After big circus I have registered complaint today, Complaint No: **. But till now no one came from roadside assistance team to take vehicle from spot. This is worst customer support. No time value just telling lies to customer and no values for customer complaints in Hyundai motors. I made big mistake by choosing Hyundai :( Please improve your customer services ASAP. 1/10.
I leased a 2017 Hyundai Azera, and because I liked the car so much I purchased it in 2020 at the end of the lease with only 19,200 miles on it. On 9/9/20, my car would not start. I brought it to the dealership and was told the battery was fine. A week later, my car would not start and I brought it back to service. A week later and for the third week in a row, my car would not start. The car was in service for five days. 2.5 weeks later, my car would not start. It was in service for four weeks. Two days after picking the car up from service, the car would not start. It went back to service for the fifth time in four months, and was there for 45 days. Five days after picking the car up from service, the car would not start. It is now back in service for the SIXTH TIME in five months.It has been in service for almost 90 days and counting since September, with no answers in sight. I am working with Hyundai Consumer Affairs, but am not getting any answers or help - all while still paying for the car that has not even been in my possession for three months. When I have had it, I had to jump start it 100% of the time I needed to go somewhere.
Very, Very Bad Customer Service at Rally Hyundai-Palmdale,CA - I was treated horribly by the Sales Manager. His name is **, at least thats what he told me. After test driving a few cars and ready to go home and ponder, I was told by the sales associate, Kyle, was going to the back to see if they had exactly the car I wanted. Two minutes later, Kyle returned with Randy. I explained to him that I was just there to test drive; I had already researched the car for almost 2 months so I knew just what I was getting. So Randy started immediately, he didn’t waste any time. “What payments can you afford?” “Ummm… no thanks, I dont want to discuss price, thank you, I just wanted to test drive.” “Well, why not? Why do you want this type of car? Why not another? Oh, thats not what this car cost. Oh the car you test drove couldnt have felt that way. No, no, no.” Discredit, discredit, discredit. The language he used was rude, forceful and disrespectful. “Forget about your research, it’s all wrong.” He wanted me to go inside so that he could show me his numbers. He was a lot like a bully and he tried to intimidate me. But I stood my ground and refused to follow his lead. Mind you, this was all after I explained to him that I didn’t want to buy today, only a test drive. After he saw that he could not intimidate me, he became very upset, glared at me and began his rant. You just dont believe me. Youre not even listening to me. Were done here! Calling me a liar to my face! I thought, “Uhhhh... who called who a liar? What just happened?” Well when he was done with his rant, he walked away. The only thing I was able to get out after that was, Thats unfortunate as he stumped off like Rumpelstiltskin. If he had just allowed me to leave nicely, I would have returned to purchase the car I wanted. I guess he thought because I was alone and a woman, that he could bully me into doing something I didnt want to. No one deserves that type of treatment. And after reading other reviews on Yelp, it turns out no one is allowed to test drive at this location unless they plan on buying. Something needs to be done about this bully.
I took my 2014 Sonata to dealer five times and they smelled the bad fumes coming from my car and each time they cant find anything wrong and they know its bad and they say Hyundai wont fix it for several people have same problems. So Im going to sell car for I cant drive. It makes me too sick and hard to breathe. Im 63 years old and I dont need added health issues from my car.
For the price point of this vehicle I expected not to hear anything inside. But it seems as I go 40mph and above I hear air as if the window is cracked open. Hyundai says its road noise but I know the difference. Its a lot quieter in my wifes Juke than in the Palisade. I think the door is to light weight so air noise seeps through. Hopefully Hyundai will find a fix for this. Its probably the only reason so far I would not keep this vehicle.
Veloster is the worst car I have owned. The car is only two years old and I have had a list of problems with the car. The water pump was replaced at 3000 miles. I have had problems with the sunroof since day one, with car as well. I have also had the fuel pump, fuel rail, catalytic converter, front hub and axle replaced as well. Now today my navigation & radio went on the car. I have made complaints to corporate Hyundai and left numerous calls with no callback. Not only do they make a poor car, their customer service is just as bad.
No after sale service - Beginning November 2011, we finally bought our dream car (Hyundai iX35 R2.0 CRDi GLS AWD A/T). I worked hard to be able to afford it. Brand new, it is delivered to us in hazy view. We are so happy to get our new dream car. The first week after we got the car, I need to take it to Hyundai Nelspruit workshop so that they can put on the nose bar as they couldn’t do it in time for delivery. That afternoon, when I got back my car and drove home, I saw that the panel where the gears are is scratched (looks like someone took a spanner or something while changing the automatic gears with it in hand). Several days later, I received an sms from the branch asking if I was satisfied with the service, and I replied no, I am not happy at all and told them about the scratched panel. Until today, they haven’t come back to me! In December, we went on holiday to Jeffrey’s Bay. On our way back, just before Kroonstad, we got a flat tire. I changed it and saw that in the inside, it is worn down to the wire, almost 5 cm. I looked at the other one, and it’s the same! We have to drive slowly as we don’t have a spare now. It is a mission to get two new tires in Kroonstad. Finally, we got the tires and after almost 5 hours and R7250.00 later and promises from Hyundai to replace it, we can continue to drive home (the car only has 9,000 km on the clock). So I sent the claim to Hyundai Lydenburg (where we bought the car). It’s now two months later, I do not know how many e-mails and phone calls, and we are still waiting for the money! The car almost has 10,000 km, suddenly the engine light goes on. I looked in the book and it says it has to get to a dealer as soon as possible. It was late at night, so the next morning, we took the car to Hyundai Nelspruit workshop. They put it on the lift and apparently there is an oil leak; we need to leave the car there as we are not allowed to drive with it (it was Monday, 6 February). So we have to rent a vehicle because no courtesy car was available (I talked to Hyundai again, they will pay the vehicle). I got a rental car from Euro Car. The first amount go off on my credit card on 8 February (R8091), and the second on 14 February (R2000), and the third on 6 March (R19,607). With our own car it would have been a bit cheaper to drive! On Thursday, we called the workshop (they said we can get it on Friday) to hear if our car is finished to collect the next day. No, they have to order a seal. A few days later, we phoned again, still not finished. They will only get the seal by 5 March! (I think they plant or grow rubber trees then milk them and only then can they produce a seal). A few weeks later, they called us (for a change) and told us they got the seal and we have to bring in the car so they can put it in. We told them that we can’t bring in the car as it is already standing there in the workshop for 3 weeks now, and that they can just immediately start with it! On Tuesday, we phoned again to hear if they are finished (was supposed to be finished on Monday). It was not. The seal they ordered was the wrong one, but they looked in their storeroom and found one (so actually the car was standing there for weeks now for nothing). They put the seal in, put in the oil, and suddenly there is another leak! And they don’t even phone us, we have to phone them every time! On Monday, 5 March, I stopped at the workshop to get my mailbox key (since it’s almost a month, I couldn’t take out my mail). They sent a young man to accompany me outside to my car to get my key. There my new car is standing way at the back in the sun. I wonder if it’s been standing there for all this time. (I don’t even let my old car stand in the sun for so long).It’s now more than 4 weeks later, I’m tired of begging and phoning all the time. I don’t even want that car anymore. It already gave us so much problems I don’t trust it anymore. We expect Hyundai to give us a brand new car, pay back our money for the tires, pay the bill on my credit card with interest for the rental car and bank charges on the credit card, so their name is not affected. It is the least they can do for us to compensate for all the inconvenience, or we have to take legal action. After I sent this mail to Hyundai, I got an e-mail from Liam from Customer Service saying that Hyundai will only pay for the labor and the seal. Thank heavens, they will pay a R5 seal and me R40,000 for rental and tires. At R4000 a kilometer above the buying of R400,000, I really hope to sell it or let it just stand too expensive for me. This is unacceptable. The public should know about the terrible service of Hyundai before they have to go through what we did. If you read the letter/message of the CEO, Alan Ross, (on their website) it is the opposite of what is happening in reality. In my situation, there is in no client service from Hyundai! Hyundai Nelspruit says they can’t work if there is no part. Hyundai sells thousands of vehicles and there is no part, wow. It’s like me booking in guests and tell them sorry we can’t take you on a game drive. I wonder for how long we still have to wait for our car and all the money? At least Hyundai Lydenburg tried to help us with this mess from Nelspruit workshop via e-mails, etc. I fear the day the car is not under guarantee anymore and I have to pay all the expenses because their service is so bad! I hope you can accomplish something with them.
I was the 2nd owner of an Accent, it was one year old and after one year the front tires went bald, then the rims were totally oxidized. Now, 2 years later the window motors on two windows went totally bad and the dealership wants 400.00 for both. The customer service is horrible. My husband has leased an Elantra because his Hyundai Genesis turbo line broke and oil was spilling all over, dealership said it must have been something he hit. Would have felt it, dont you think? As soon as that lease is up, we are keeping the car just so we do not have to trade it in for another Hyundai, since we do not want to have to pay their fees. As soon as that goes through, we will sell it for a dozen apples. Never again, this company stinks. Buy American.
I complained that the tail lights were repeatedly blowing. To fix the lights on one side, I was told water was leaking into the housing because the car had been hit. The sonata has never been hit. I was told the housing had melted from being burned on the other side. The Santa Fe, the clicker has never worked telling me they have to replace the horn.
2011 Hyundai Sonata - I want to like this car; it has amazing power and gas mileage for its size and power. Sometimes I can get as low as 5.3l100 km on the highway. But here’s a breakdown of problems I have had: 1) The gauge cluster was replaced. 2) The odometer is no longer accurate. 3) The air bag computer was replaced. 4) The tie rods were replaced. 5) The sway links were replaced.6) The remote start is flaky. 7) Some points of the taillights were rubbing paint off the rear fenders (on the side). 8) The trunk kept chipping its edges because it kept touching the body and bumper when shutting. 9) The emergency brake kept seizing up in spite being used every day. 10) The engine seems to rattle more than it has when new. Yes, I know gdi engines are noisy but this one has a deceleration rattle that sounds like a timing chain or valve rattle. The last mechanic said it was normal. I had the same year and model used for a day and no engine rattle whatsoever.11) The interior has many creaks and rattles and the front end sounds down right awful of bumps from 0-50 kmh; clunk, clunk, thunk, etc. but they say all parts in front end are tight. The car is just under 80,000 kms. Most these sounds have been there since it was new. This car sounds like a 10-year old car with the front end clunks, interior noises at times and engine noises.I spoke very patiently and calmly with HMC Canada but was given no reassurance. They said, “So sorry sir, your complaints have been documented.” I ask, “Are you going to consider giving me an extended or a good deal on a warranty for this trouble pit to calm my fears about keeping her past warranty?” The response was, “We dont do that sir.” I guess I should not have been surprised.Hyundai has come a long, long way in terms of refinement etc. Ive had 4 that have been pretty darn reliable. Our 99 Accent went almost 300,000. It did not burn a drop of oil; just a lot of small parts replaced but the engine was bulletproof. But as they have gotten more complicated, the longevity seems to have dipped downwards. Ill consider something else next time because just like my washer experience, they have no interest in keeping a long time customer.

On two occasions during the past three months the battery in my 2011 Sonata Hybrid with 31000 miles has had to be jumpstarted by AAA. After the last incident last week I took the car to the dealer where the car was purchased and the battery was shown to be in perfect condition. I was told that if the dead battery problem occurs again, I should not jump-start the car, but have the car towed in to the dealer for diagnosis. Obviously an electrical problem exists, and towing the car to a Hyundai dealer will obviously be a problem, particularly if I am out of town on a weekend. I dont believe that I should have to bear the cost of travel to my home or hotel costs because of a problem due to a Hyundai fault. Because of this problem, I cannot risk travelling out of town. Please give me some advice to deal with my dilemma. Apart from the MPG issue which I have accepted, THIS is a SAFETY matter that requires a response.
I was involved in a collision yesterday with my 2012 model iX35. My car was severely damaged on the left front and side bumper, the hood was mangled on the left side, and windscreen slightly cracked. The electronics box was damaged to the point where no electronics worked on the vehicle so I couldnt even close windows or start the car. In retrospect after contemplating the resultant damage, I have to say that I was most impressed with how much impact the front-left-end of the vehicle withstood and how this area was designed to take most of the impact of the collision without the driver (myself) being harmed in any way. Im a little stiff and still post-traumatized as this was my first accident - however - inside the vehicle everything was solid and in place. The airbags did not pop - which is a good sign as this shows that the vitals in the engine were not harmed due to the collision. Although I still have to receive the results of the assessment to the damage - I can only say I felt incredibly safe in the vehicle. Im still trying to fathom how little impact I felt in the vehicle - no whiplash or moving forward abruptly. Im most impressed.
We have two Hyundais, loved one and got another (Santa Fe). Well built, good gas mileage, comfortable, nice looking and good resale value, good warranty. If I could afford the Genesis it would be my next car.
Was on our way home from a Holiday trip Jan 1,2020 when my Hyundai Santa Fe sport with 9,328 miles on it lost power outside of Athens Ga. Was fortunate to be able to be near a convenient store to pull into. Called Hyundai roadside service and they quickly sent a tow truck that took vehicle to nearby Hyundia in Athens. Also called a Uber to take us 3 senior ladies and our dog to the hotel near to dealership in Athens. Naturally since it was New Year’s Day the dealership was not open until the next day. Everything in response to incident was wonderful. Could have stayed in a nicer hotel, but choose one close to dealership. Got home to Florida a couple days later. I sent in the incident report with all the original receipts for the trip interruption reimbursement. Never heard back....called back end of Feb...said it was being worked on....just called back April 23, lady said nothing had been done with case since I called in Feb.? And she would have them (?) call me back. So moral of this story do not depend on getting any money back from Hyundia Trip reimbursement!
I have had the software upgrade installed but still jerky acceleration from standstill and wild shift changes. Is there nothing that can be done to provide a smoother shifting? I rented a KIA Sportage recently it it was much smoother. The dealer tells me nothing can be done, It is was it is. Greg St. Thomas, ON
Hyundai Sonata 2006 has Faulty Airbag sensors in it. My car has 95000 miles on it, but however many people after driving 75000 miles have similar problem. Within 3 months I have issue twice with that. The service engineer told that this a problem with Seat belt sensor. So first time it was on the passenger side and after a month it was my driver side. Every time I was charged $350. Please be aware of this if you are using Hyundai, if so please be prepared for it.
I purchased my 3rd brand new Hyundai in 2005. I have always chose Hyundai models as I believed in your vow of Americas best warranty although I had always paid them off and traded them in around 60,000 miles. I did make a decision to hold onto my most recent Hyundai which is a 2005 Hyundai Tiburon. I am a extremely anal when it comes to maintenance, to the point friends and family mock me. No one but the dealership has EVER been under the hood of any of my Hyundais. I have even taken it to them to have air put in the tires. I never missed a maintenance and am always at the dealership within the 3 months - 3,000 miles with checkbook in hand asking them to do whatever is necessary to maintain the warranty, value of the vehicle and to keep my car running. I just had the 2005 Tiburon in for scheduled service in April 2014. As always, this service department who had handled all my cars over the past 20 years said the car was in impeccable shape. Memorial day 2014 (a little over a month later), while driving I turned on the air. Within 5 minutes it started to jerk and sputter, smoke started to rise from under the hood and all my dashboard lights came on. I pulled over and called a tow. The next day I was in shock when the service manager called and said the engine had blew. I was not concerned with the cost as it was still 20,000 miles and 1 year under warranty. When I asked how this had happened, he said the car had a small leak in the radiator which caused it to overheat. I begged for answers on how this could happen. How I would have known there was a slow leak and if there was light that should have warned me and how the engine could have blown from overheating. Nothing Greg from Hyundai City said made sense to me on how I could have done anything different to prevent this. All he could say was because I had driven the car for an extended period of time, while overheating it would not be covered under the warranty and the cost would be about $3,000. There was literally minutes between realizing something was wrong and when the car died on the side of the road. There was not a single sign before this moment that would have led me to know something was wrong. He also went on to explain because the radiator wasnt covered and this is what ultimately caused the damage, they could not possibly cover the cost. I have no words. I have sent countless customers to this dealership as well as given Hyundai 60,000 plus dollars worth of business. They know how meticulous I am about service and have all my records. The car had 80,000 miles on it and just a month earlier was told the car was in perfect condition and now it sits with a blown engine without any fault of my own. I could not have done anything more to maintain the car or meet the warranty criteria. I did file a case with Hyundai but based on what Greg has told them I received an email stating that they will not honor the warranty. I am heartbroken and have no idea why the company I was so faithful to would treat me, let alone any customer this way. I have no words. I had no doubt that Hyundai would do the right thing but I am growing less and less faithful. I have no idea how this happened to my car and the company who can make this right refuses to. I know losing one customer is not a big deal to you but at the end of the day your integrity is all you have whether it be with one person or millions. It is all the same.
Hyundai in Newman, Ga was the worst experience ever buying a car. I was paying cash. Of course they talked me into the tech pkg and took me $2500 over budget. I was told to just finance that amount. Ok, fine, I said because I knew it would be paid off before the first payment was due. Well they didn’t like that and came back and said they couldn’t finance anything under $5000. Ok, still going to have it paid off quickly. Then they came back and said they wouldn’t finance anything under $7500. I had only taken one check with me. It’s a 4 hour drive. I told the guy that and he said to go get another check. I was walking away when my husband decided he was sick of this to find a bank up there and do it. After all this, it turns out the car I ended up with did NOT even have the tech pkg.I have never been so disgusted with a dealership ever! I will NEVER purchase another Hyundai again. Just not worth it. I hate having to see my car. They ruined what should have been an easy sale. By the way, the car was paid off within a month and they made a grand total $41. in finance charges. Stay away from Southtowne Hyundai!
The Veloster is a cheap fun car. Great to get around town and to work. The build quality could be better but youre getting a car for under $20000 it is what it is. I would definitely recommend this to a younger crowd. The ride is stiff but you need it for the way it tracks.
How upsetting, to buy a car with 100000 mile 10-year warranty, and to have both visors break, lights over mirrors dont work and Hyundai says not their problem! Not covered! Its such a simple little thing to fix, and your company wont cover it. Its not like I got in the car and said lets break the visor today causing everyone who gets in the car to hit their head on it. Thanks.... a lot......for... what???
I was very pleased with my Hyundai Tiburon. It was relatively low maintenance, performed satisfactorily and was aesthetically pleasing. I also liked that it was a manual transmission and performed very well.
I bought a new 2016 Tuscan a few days ago and finding welcome light in the handle doesnt work. Door courtesy lamp doesnt work and acceleration is bad. Ive contacted the dealer (Sisley Hyundai) and they have asked me to take the car to the dealership. So far I have taken it back to the dealership twice. They couldnt give any satisfactory answer, neither could solve the issues so far. They have asked to take it back again but I feel they are just killing time and cannot do anything. These seems like a factory defect as I find lot of customers are also complaining the same. Hyundai Canada needs to recall this car immediately. And I would rank this car as - do not buy.
I leased a Genesis. I made all the payments on time. I turned it into Lexus when I lease a Lexus. They claim there was excessive wear and tear because a lens had a crack. They state I owe them $608 for a crack they did not even measure with the ruler. I will never have a Hyundai or Genesis again. They do not bother responding to BBB. They just send a standard email.
2010 Hyundai Genesis sedan has a problem with the automatic drivers seat. The seat fails to return to preset position when the car is started. Similarly, it cannot be manually adjusted when this condition occurs. This is a sporadic and unpredictable problem which the dealer has not been able to identify after four visits and approximately 10 days at the dealership. Customer service has assigned a case number to this issue but never returns calls or suggests a solution or suggestion to the problem. My only recourse at this point is to engage an attorney and file some sort of civil action. I am very frustrated.
2007 Accent problems - Where to start. First off, Ive had nothing but issues with this car. Faulty lighting, faulty sensors even my passenger air bag doesnt work, and theyve fixed it twice now. My light still remains on. I started having car issues when my car started jerking really hard when it went into gear. I took it to the dealership and they said everything was okay. My car runs like a champ. I asked them personally. Did you check my transmission? They said yes, everything is fine. I called a week later because I still was feeling the kick in my transmission. They said they never checked my transmission last time I was in. I feel I was lied to. Also, apparently, there was a recall on my car for several faulty wiring issues. I was never informed about this. I just found out in 2012 when this recall happened in 2009. Also, I got into a car accident. It was not my fault. Ive had my car took in twice for an alignment, window fixed 3 times. Also, my axle was affected in this wreck. They did not tell me this until I took it to someone else and they told me that my axle was messed up due to my car being hit. Hyundai never fixed it. Ive had something lose moving around under my car ever since the accident and they are still saying there is nothing wrong with my car and refuse to fix it. I plan on getting this car fixed then trading it in. Ive paid way too much money for things that were under warranty and should have been fixed the first time. I will never again purchase a car from Hyundai.
Approx. 6 weeks ago, the brakes in my 2009 Sonata failed. I brought the car to my mechanic and he replaced the rear brakes. Two weeks later, the same thing happened. I had the front brakes replaced. Again, 2 weeks later, I slid through a red light because the brakes failed yet again. I had the car towed to the nearest Hyundai dealer. They informed me that they found nothing wrong with the brakes until I told them that I would not drive that car. So, they had better look again. Miraculously, 10 minutes later, they found that the caliper was broken and blamed it on the mechanic that replaced my brakes. So now, it was not under warranty. I paid the bill of $413.54 to replace the part. Not quite 2 weeks later, the car was making a very loud screeching sound -- like metal on metal. I had the car towed to the Nemet dealership where I originally purchased the vehicle. The mechanic, Jeff, told me that I needed new back brakes. When I tried to explain the entire situation, he did not want to hear it, and he told me that what happened at the other dealership did not matter, kind of like McDonalds is a chain of stores owned by different people, so is the Hyundai dealerships.He also informed me that I would be charged $625.00 to replace the back brakes again and if I did not want to pay, I should take the car back to the mechanic that did the brakes originally.I paid for a tow truck to take the car to Nemet, and again, to pick it up from Nemet to be brought to my mechanic. He replaced the left caliper that had already been replaced by Advantage Hyundai! That’s another $221.02 spent! I was livid, so I called Nemet and explained to the salesman what was going on again. He told me to bring the car into his dealership and when I got it back, they would work something out with me. On Saturday, 9/3 I, took the car to the Nemet dealership . Anthony, the salesman and the sales manager tried to put me in a smaller vehicle -- the Hyundai Elantra. I requested another down payment, and they wanted me to sign another 5 year payment plan! They informed me that my warranty had been voided when I took my car to a certified mechanic to have the brakes done and not to a Hyundai dealership. I was not looking to use my car a trade. I wanted to be treated fairly.Two years ago, I paid a down payment on a car that I thought would last me a good long time. Now, I find that this product is not backed by the company that sells it. This is the 3rd Hyundai I have purchased through Nemet.I do want a new vehicle that is comparable to the one I bought, not smaller. I already paid 2 years of a loan. Why should I have to start over when I have only 3 years left on a vehicle that is defective? I dont feel I should have to pay another down payment, or a higher monthly payment and I should not have to pay for more than 3 years!I called the dealership (Nemet) when I returned home and asked for the name of the CEO and was told that the CEO died. And then I requested to speak with the General Manager. She asked what was it in reference to and told me to hold on. She came back on the phone and asked for my name. When I told her who it was, all of a sudden Scott ** was unavailable to speak with me, when I know he was there for a meeting with his sales staff that morning because I had to wait for the sales person!The advertisement reads “our customers are number 1”. Really, when does that apply?
My 2013 Tucson had to be towed to the dealer. It took several weeks to get the parts in to fix it but they paid for my rental for the whole time. I had to take it back because it had a noise in it. They went through the complete engine and found nothing wrong. They called in their specialist and were able to solve the problem. They gave me a new Santa Fe to drive and I really liked it. But I love my Tucson and will be keeping it but will be buying a new car in the near future. Their warranty is everything it says it is. Jason kept me informed as the worked a lot of hours to take care of the problem. He is the kind of service manager you want to take care of problems if you have them. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a nice car for a good price and excellent service.

Hyundai Motor Finance sent us an unsolicited pre-approval. We were in the market for a new car, Hyundai vehicles had good ratings so we went to the Hyundai dealer. We should have known from the get go that something was fishy, they tried to change the rates/terms in the pre-approved letter, then the $2,500 discount magically disappeared from the final contract, they then said it did not apply to pre-approved offers, though it had been on the first contract they showed us. Our mistake - It was now 10 at night, we went ahead signed the papers and drove the car home. Problems started with the first payment that they claimed not to receive the paper check in the mail, then paying online was not an option, so we went to Western Union and sent them a payment. Second payment same issue. They seem to have real administrative problems processing and keeping track of paper checks. Third payment we sent in a double payment to cover the month ahead. 2 months later they processed the check, it bounced for NSF ($10 difference in our bank account). They repossessed the car with no warning, no contact, no opportunity to even know that the payment they took 2 months to process had now bounced.They took our car over 300 miles and 6 hours away to another state and gave us less than 10 days to reclaim the car (with hundreds in extra fees for towing and storage now applied). Every attempt to process paperwork with them was a waste of time. We spent over 12 hours on hold in a period of 3 days trying to resolve this, only to be cut off, transferred, or just plain left in limbo. One day we were on hold over 2 hours when it hit 5 PM, and we were disconnected because their office closed. We finally got one human on the phone who was willing to help us and would fax paperwork for us over to the dealer. It never arrived. The finance dept at the dealership was equally baffled and attempted to help us resolve the issues but Hyundai finance wouldnt ever cooperate with the dealers office.Of the limited number of days we had to reclaim our car, 4 of those days were weekend days which their office was closed. So we had 6 working days to try to resolve this with an office that we could never get through to except on a very few occasions (I think we actually got a human 3 times out of about 40-50 tries). No paperwork ever arrived at the dealer, they would not accept any paperwork that the dealer had on hand (it had to be their special forms). Our car was over 300 miles away in another state. We had the cash - but because of their convoluted procedures, and lack of help, and terrible staffing on their customer service lines - WE LOST OUR CAR!Where did our car end up? At a Hyundai dealer in Ohio that seems to have a car lot brimming with dozens of used Hyundais, less than one year old with low miles (like our car), that are for sale at almost the same price as when they were brand new, but with used car interest rates, with car loans offered by - you guessed it - Hyundai finance!We were out our $2,000 down payment, our $4,000 trade in, + 2 payments, and now with the extra fees Hyundai STILL wants an ADDITIONAL $3,500 from us for a car we had less than 4 months. Our credit is wrecked (the repo lowered our score over 120 points instantly). In hind sight - this seems like a terrible scam where they are selling the cars twice, the second time at higher interest rates at almost the same price as brand new, and racking up impossible fees, and unwilling to work with consumers to get their cars back.4 months with our Hyundai cost over $10,000 - not a bargain in anyones book. Their lack of customer service, inability to reach them, the stonewalling as we tried to get the money to them to reclaim our car - they just made it absolutely impossible. And sending our car over 300 miles away - how high do they have to make the hurdles? We live in a metropolitan area with plenty of auction lots where the car could have gone to, sending it 300 miles away was overkill, designed to make it even more difficult for us. The finance manager at the local dealer was left shaking his head. Apparently 300 miles is the MAXIMUM that they are allowed by law to take the car and they took it to the max (12 miles further according to MapQuest). Shady.
I would like to report MPG fraud by Hyundai. In January 2014, I bought a Sonata, which promised 28 mpg (city and highway). Since then, in LIGHT suburban and highway driving, I have averaged 19.2 mpg on a 4 cylinder car. Hyundai refuses to take any responsibility for this and states the mpg on the car sticker is an estimate. An estimate of 33% less. I urge all prospective Hyundai buyers to take note of this. They have been very uncooperative and I have tried to settle this several times.
I purchased a 2005 Hyundai XG350 from the dealer. The airbag light came on shortly after I go the car. The car has been back to the dealer approximately 15 times for service as the light comes back on shortly after every repair. While the dealer has done everything they know how to do, Hyundai will not acknowledge a widespread problem the airbag systems in this car.
I purchased my new Sonata Hybrid in April 2015. I want to complain about the front shroud or fairing. The clearance of the fairing to regular parking block is 0 inches. These are standard parking blocks, that a car has to pull up to in any parking space. My front fairing has now been severely damaged and is hanging off the car because the clearance does not match the standard height for a parking block. I want to know why I have this expensive repair because of poor design of the front end. If I repair the damage, the next block will, of course, rip the new one off too!!! Parking away from the block creates a safety hazard to me and other cars and drivers in a parking lot because of improper parking space allocations.Safe parking is part of safe operation of my vehicle, and I can be fined because of improper parking in a designated space. The tires are the original factory ones, so the profile should be Hyundais responsibility of design. I want to know what you (Hyundai) suggests to do to fix this design problem for now and the future of my expensive hybrid car???
I am the original owner of my 2011 Hyundai Sonata. There has been recall after recall. In August of 2016, Hyundai completed the Campaign 143 Recall (Power Steering). Within a couple of weeks after, my steering wheel starting making clicking noises when I turned. Right after that, my air bag light came on. Shortly after, my steering wheel started shaking when I went over any bumps. Now it is so bad (the shaking) that my steering wheel acts like it is going to pop off of the car when I go over a speed bump! So between the clicking, air bag, and violent shaking, this car feels incredibly unsafe to drive!I called Hyundai and they asked, What exactly do you want us to do? I asked if there was a recall since thousands of people are having the same issue, and the customer service rep said, There is nothing regarding a recall for this issue. I am so fed up with Hyundai. Every time I get my car back from the dealership after a recall, something else happens. I take excellent care of my car and yet it comes back to me from the dealership worse than when I take it in. When will Hyundai finally issue a recall on this as it is clearly a Hyundai faulty part?
It is a comfortable vehicle to drive with all the adjustments a driver can make to be not tired out on a trip. My wife and I took a trip from Western PA to the state of Washington and neither of us had aches and pains from the trip to and from either location home. We were very surprised at mileage we got on the trip. All in all we were so pleased with the car we ended up purchasing another. It feels like a luxury vehicle at a low price.
Hyundai is ok but Im not really crazy about it. It has a jerking feeling when you take off from driving. It does drive good on the highway but it doesnt in town. I want a smoother ride in town and a fast car. I also wish I had a sunroof and a navigation. Even so, I like that it has 3 different drive modes. It has eco, turbo and standard. The eco saves on gas so I have it on that all the time.
Bought my 2nd Hyundai 2 months ago and have yet to get them to take care of the pulling problem. They have done an alignment on it once and it still pulls to the left. Ive gone to a dealer closer to me, wasted an hour only to be turned down, saying to go to where I bought it from. Then Ive been trying to schedule with another dealer and they wouldnt even respond to me. 2 weeks ago I submitted a complaint to Hyundai consumer affairs and till this day Ive just been ignored after several email exchanges and a phone call from the rep telling me shell call the dealer for me then nothing again. Ive bought more then 10 new cars before and never did a car maker just ignores my service request like Hyundai. Beware how theyll treat you nice, sell you a $30k car and then kick you to the curbs. Will never buy another Hyundai again.
Bought a 2019 new Ioniq last month. On day 2 of owning it, after first opening the hatch, noticed banging, rattling noise from hatch going over bumps. Selling dealership would not take the car back, only advised to take it to a service center. I did that 3 times to no avail. Problem is same. Opened case with Hyundai corporate, they denied request for buyback. Furthermore, they told service dept not to spend any more on fixing this. So there I sit with a horribly noisy new car and no resolution. This is not a normal road noise. Its so annoying I dont want to drive the car. Hyundai has failed me in so many ways, I would never buy another. I now have to either live with a lemon, or take a huge loss on trading it in.
I really enjoyed our Hyundai Sonata 2006.... We had the usual problems/recall issue with the airbags in 2013... At about 45,000 to 50,000 miles... many electrical problems. Apparently at some point without being disclosed to us when we bought it, our vehicle was a rental. At some point liquid was spilled into the console which caused electrical damage to the car under the front dashboard (car would not start - no crank - damage to body control module), so the dealership said. We didnt spill anything and this didnt happen till 5 months after we bought it. Either corrosion takes that long or there was something else going on. Never saw this supposed damage. Cost: $500.Shortly after that repair (16 days)... the drivers door would only unlock, internal BCM problems again. Go figure... no charge to repair. At 50,000 miles (Sept 2008) the Check Engine light would come on, cruise control inop., ESC and ABS light on. Cause: code c1513 brake switch failure (just read today that at some point that was a recall - had no idea - 1-9-14 so decided to share my story with others). They replaced the switch. N/C, but for some reason I noticed they did charge for 2 brake lights and labor $65. Most likely they were fine and it was the switch.Other issues.... sure seemed like the rotors/calibers rusted really fast and we changed all 4 brakes/rotors/pads etc. every year!!! Had none of these issues with our older Ford Taurus. No engine issues with the Sonata... just electrical and constant brake replacing.
Since the purchase of 2006 Sonata, I have had to have seat belts, seat, sensors for air bags repaired due to air bag light staying on. This car has been repaired for air bag light six times under warranty and now will cost $325 for the same parts originally replaced. Average miles between repairs of air bag is less than 1 every 6,000. Once, there was less than 200 miles between fixes.Dealer states repair not covered under extended warranty. Awaiting call from Hyundai CS. If not covered, I will probably have to do without air bag system working because they obviously have a defective system and cost is too high to repair every 6,000 miles
Purchased car new in March 2013. Had towed to shop for repairs when brakes failed in May 2013. Received car back in June 2013. Car ran well, battery charged correctly and all was good for awhile. Car started to shudder/jerk a little at takeoffs from a stop again. Light and sporadic. August more frequent, September it worsened and October it had gotten bad again. End of October 2013, left my home and the car shuddered at start and went about 60 ft to stop sign again and breaks locked up solid, no lights or warnings on dash. It happened again at third stop sign! (still with-in two blocks of home). Forget the errand now just have to get it home and call for tow. Pulled out into highway in left turn so I can get home easily, and car stops locked up solid in middle of turn and road. Loaded log truck heading towards me and I cannot get car to move. Took several stomps on accelerator peddle to get it to finally crawl forward. Crash avoided but the grill filled the entire passenger window and then some. Got car home and towed to dealership the following Monday morning the 4th of November 2013. Dealership said they could not duplicate, but had huge data software upgrade for car. This was supposed to be done the first time. I told them on Monday I was not getting back into car period. Now in contact and waiting just a few more days before formal full-out legal battle begins. Hyundai has known about this life threatening safety issue for years and instead of fixing has only made it worse. Do your research before buying. I will be doing a lot more in-depth search prior any future purchase.
We love the appearance of our Hyundai Sonata. However, it is covered under an oil consumption recall which the dealer will not fix. Hyundais complaint department is no help other than recommending us going to another dealer. The next dealer is further away from us. We already drive too far to the current dealer for them to do the oil consumption test. Said oil consumption test involves the dealer changing the oil early due to the oil consumption. They have guidelines that say the car must use 1 quart of oil by 1,000 miles. Our car makes it barely past 1,000 miles and then hits 2 quarts low before the oil change is due.We have been advised not to add oil or get oil changed anywhere other than the dealership. Thats what we are doing. They seem to overfill the oil each time which gets us barely past that 1,000 mile guideline. We cant trust this car for trips. We cant keep driving back and forth to the dealership for them to do nothing. We will not buy another Hyundai and we will continue to warn others of our troubles.
I was on my way to work this morning and a tractor trailer nearly slammed me from behind. Later, I was flagged by a woman, who nearly ran into the back of me, and told that I had no break lights. Now I knew why the tractor trailer nearly ran me over in the morning. I went home and checked everything; bulbs, fuses, connections, and pedal. No brakes. So, I looked online for possible reasons for this and found that Hyundai had a major recall for this thing called the break relay switch. So, I looked for something that would show me where it is, how to change it, and possible other reasons for the problem. Nothing. Next, and finally, I called Hyundai and asked if there has been a problem. I was told that there is nothing that they can do and that I should go to the dealer for a check. The woman on the phone told me there are no recalls on my 2011 Hyundai Accent. I asked her if it turned out to be this switch issue that has resulted in the massive recalls for other model years, would they reimburse me or approve me to repair this and she stated that Hyundai would not. I told the lady that this is my 4th Hyundai and I have had few issues. However, losing both brake lights at the same time for no apparent reason is suspect. I am very displeased that, in spite of the million recalls for a seemingly identical problem, they would not reimburse me or approve repairs to it if it is indeed the problem. It is a shame that a loyal customer of a product and who has spent almost $100K with a company, is not honored for the loyalty given. It will be a shame for Hyundai if, for the price of a $10 part and service charge, they lose a customer. So, Hyundai, if you read this, tomorrow I am going to follow your advise and drive my car to the dealer. If they tell me it is the brake relay switch, I will trade my car in and never purchase another vehicle from your company if you or dealer do not do the right thing for a part that seems to be responsible!
Hyundai came through for my daughter after about two months. On July 23, 2013, I wrote a review about her clutch problems. Less than a week after she paid approximately $1200.00 and was told nothing was covered by warranty despite the fact that other technicians were saying it wasnt her fault and the work and parts should be covered by warranty, her clutch went again, same problem. This time, they issued her a complimentary rental, replaced all the parts, and reimbursed her for two thirds of the initial cost. By rights, the full amount should have been reimbursed but by that time we were just glad to be done with the whole matter and relatively satisfied with the end results even though it took quite a bit of doing to get there.
Pathetic service. First they booked the car at a great deal and I gave the booking cheque and documents also required for booking. They cancelled the booking and returned the cheque very next day saying that the car model and variant I have booked is already sold in their Ludhiana showroom and will be available in stock next year at an increased price and no discounts. God knows what a crappy inventory management system they are using. These guys spoiled my familys new year plans.
I have a 2012 Genesis with 42,000 miles on it and it blew an engine. A piston rod broke in half. Hyundai refuses to cover it under the warranty because they claim it was out of oil. I just had it serviced, but not by Hyundai, and there was oil in it. In fact when the rod broke the engine spilled oil all over the road and the tow truck. Even the dealer confirms that. But no the supreme judge at America Hyundai says no oil, no pay. The warranty isnt worth the paper its written on!!! Never, ever buy a Hyundai! The experience is bitter beyond description.
Bought a new Hyundai Elantra in 2002 and the transmission went out at only 80,000 miles. To fix transmission ranges from $1000 to $2500. That is more than the Blue Book value of the car! Hyundais are JUNK! Get a TOYOTA or a HONDA instead.
It appears that were all having the same issues with Hyundais Consumer Affairs department, the local service departments, and worst of all, voiding the consumer warranties at their convenience. Its time to stand up and voice your concerns to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Please make sure you file your complaint with the FTC too by visiting their websites. They need to know about how Hyundai is treating their customers and lying to the public. Please note, I have tried to contact the people at the corporate office and they will only forward your concerns back to consumer affairs. The same people who dont care to resolve your complaint. Go to the FTC website and file your complaint there too!
I bought a brand new Tucson 2016. After I drove it for less than 800 miles the Check Engine light came on. I took it to the dealer and was told a pin fell inside the engine and broke it. Dealer offered to replace the engine. Because it was a new car I refused. So, after a lengthy fight Hyundai finally agreed to give me another new Tucson. Phew... wait, I am not done yet. 2 weeks later I took delivery of the new Tucson and guess what? 1200 miles later, the car just stalled and would not start as I was driving in the middle of the highway. Now that was scary, in the middle of the highway at night! Luckily there was a state trooper nearby who was able to redirect traffic around my car while I waited for a tow truck. I had the car towed back to the dealer.After looking into it for about 2 weeks, they finally called me to tell me there was another problem with the engine and it could not be repaired. Again, Hyundai has offered to send a replacement engine. This time I refused and am currently fighting them for my money back. Consumer beware of the 2016 Tucson, they are junky.
So far there have been 5 recalls on this car. Supposedly 4 of them have been fixed but the problems still continue. The transmission slips. It is not engaged after coming to a stopped. There is absolutely 0 acceleration which means it puts your life in danger every time you get behind the wheel.
This is not exactly what happened, but more like a what is about the Hyundai Elantra. I have just found this website when I decided to do some searching for Hyundai information, especially the Hyundai Elantras so-called automatic transmission. You see, in July 2010, I was desperately in need of some good transportation for myself and my family, and I decided to take a look at Hyundai. I am embarrassed to say that I bought two Elantras at the same time. Im even more embarrassed to admit that I traded a really nice Impala for them. OK, time to cut through the chase about the Elantra automatic. I have a very strong belief that Hyundai is under geared or lacks adequate gearing for the motors power band. Admittedly, Im no expert and unable to spew out technical jargon on the subject. But shortly after becoming an owner of my two Hyundais, I noticed that there was something very substandard about how these things shifted and accelerated. Ive begun reading other peoples reviews and I believe some of them are describing the very same condition, but maybe a little less technically aware of the actual problem. Its true that the vehicle will upshift during acceleration, putting the motor into a lugging state, if that is possible for a gasoline motor as it is for a diesel motor. Just to reiterate, Im not an expert on the subject but actually would love to hear someones expert opinion on the matter. Anyhow, these people are right such as Della of Omaha, NE - i.e. during normal acceleration. The vehicle shifts, then has very little power and begins to chug and vibrate so you have to punch the accelerator to go back down into the gear you just upshifted from. The condition is somewhat circumvented the more rapidly you accelerate, but soon you may find the RPMs back in that inadequate power range. I dont think this poses a problem for salespeople during a test drive because they know most people are going to punch the accelerator to see how it accelerates, meanwhile not noticing this annoying flaw. Now there is something in the drivers manual about manually downshifting for some situations and I think this can help some, but I think there is a tendency to forget to shift back into high gear. So to me, that makes it questionable about whether or not the vehicle is really automatic shifting, even though it is technically an automatic transmission. Ive heard people saying they went to the dealer experiencing this condition. Im not surprised theyre not acknowledging a problem with the vehicle. After all, they knew about it when they sold it to you. Without quoting right from the warranty, Im pretty sure it says something about vehicle performance that is characteristic to all the vehicles deems it to be normal. I would guess its a car companys right to sell you a crappy car, and the dealers too. It just proves people will do anything for a buck, even to whip out their Motor Trend magazine where it was their car of the year. So how did that happen, are they a creditable magazine? I just think they knew they were building a crappy car and they got people going around saying its great.
Brought in my 2015 Hyundai Elantra for service, mechanic stated it needed an oil pump and an engine and it would take a month to fix. When I asked about a rental I was told that they had no cars. Tie my car up for a month and dont offer alternate transportation. Totally unacceptable. I will never purchase another hyundai ever again.
After 5.5 years and limited mileage two major parts requiring replacement costing up to £2500 for non genuine parts. This is not my expectation and I reported this to Hyundai. As far as I am concerned this is an unreliable vehicle. I have looked after the car and the Hyundai garage say it is one of those things, however they did try and sell me another car at the time I was voicing my concerns.
2013 Tucson GLS 2.4L • Automatic transmission *Hyundai believes 108,000 miles is normal for a motor to seize. That is what Reggie a representative at Hyundai told me. 3/14/2019. In February of 2018 I purchased my 2013 Tucson. My sister was on the highway, driving highway speed, when suddenly the vehicle just lost power completely. She was able to roll to the shoulder safely, but only because it was a light traffic time of the day. Any other time, it wouldve been trouble. She called me right away. I told her not to start it till we got there, when we got there (Tow Truck already en route) there was absolutely no life whatsoever in the engine. The electronics were barely working, but the engine was not responsive.I had the vehicle towed to a shop, to which they told me the following day that the engine was seized, they explained that the oil pump had stopped working. They even took pictures and sent them to me of the piston and the lower motor blown out. How could this be since it only has 108,000 Miles, and I kept up with the scheduled oil and filter changes! Hyundai says this is not unusual!The warranty is only honored if youre the original owner, and I was not. I would never buy or deal with a Hyundai ever again as long as Im alive, and this inconvenience has cost me time, travel inconveniences, stress, and of course...money, not only do I STILL OWE OVER $8,000.00 ON IT, I can not get to work till its fixed. The Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sportage, and Kia Sorento have been reported as having these same issues, but the Tucson absolutely needs to be included, because theyre using the same engine (components) in this model year.
2014 Hyundai Elantra - Around 74,000 miles my engine started making a ticking noise. It would get quieter as it warmed up. When I took it to the dealership, the mechanic that looked at it said another Elantra engine went bad, this winter took a lot of engines out. We got a lot of bad engines in this winter. Something is wrong with these engines. Then he informed me that I would need a new engine. This was a Hyundai dealership mechanic that stated this. I already knew something was wrong because of the Sonata engine recall and all of the blogs where Elantra engines were going bad between 68 and 75,000 miles. I took better care of this engine than the book called for. But since I was the second owner the warranty had run out at 60,000 miles. When I bought it around 35,000 the engine sounded perfect. And it was a certified car from a car lot. Hyundai says they only warranty certified cars from a Hyundai car lot. Never again will I buy a throwaway car. In my opinion the engine need to be recalled, they know they have an issue. I am currently driving a 2018 Elantra for a week while I get another car. The engine has 2200 miles on it and I can hear the same ticking already, plus it shakes a little coming from the drive train, until it is driven at least 10 miles. The steering tends to get rigid from time to time like I am sliding on some ice.
2013 Hyundai Veloster: I felt compelled to submit this review because of a recent experience Ive had with the brand that has left a bad taste in my mouth, and in the interest of transparency, should be shared so this doesnt happen to another consumer. In 2012 my parents were looking to buy me a car as a graduation gift (in cash), and we looked at Volkswagen, Hyundai, Jeep, Ford. At the time Hyundai was heavily marketing the 10-year warranty, so we decided to look into purchasing a Hyundai, as this was a major differentiator and benefit from the other brands.My parents ended up working w/ a local dealer in Maryland, who helped locate and purchase an Veloster for me. The entire time, the dealer was aware that the car was being purchased for me. Since it was a gift, I was not at the dealer at the time of sale, and my mother put her name on the title (this is an important detail for later). It was never stipulated that only having her name (and not mine) could be a potential issue, as she was NOT purchasing the car for herself.Flash forward 6 years and I move to the west coast. Right after moving my car, I get it registered in California and transfer the title from my mother so I can pay my own insurance. Dec17 at 55k miles Im hearing a horrendous screech coming out of my wheels, and I find out its a defective wheel bearing (should last 100k). At the dealer they dont mention that this would be covered under my 10-year warranty, because my warranty expired at 50k. This sets off major red flags, as the front wheel bearings are part of drive train, and should be covered under the 10-year/100k mile warranty - I know something isnt right.I call corporate (1st time) and find out that the warranty on my car was just invalidated when I transferred the title, because I moved the car title under my name i/o leaving it under my mothers, which immediately invalidated the 10 year warranty (Ive had this car for 6 years/55k miles). This is a major stipulation that was not presented at the dealer when the car was being sold to my parents (this car was purchased solely for that warranty), so I call the dealer to discuss this issue as it originated w/ them, and they refer me back to corporate. I call corporate again (2nd time) and end up talking to a customer rep who was incredibly condescending and rude, challenging why I would be questioning my warranty (because my car is having issues that should be covered), etc., and was just generally nasty the entire time.I finally ask to talk to his manager, who he says will call within 24-48 hours - wont give me a name or a time (no one ever calls - I hope this conversation was recorded). I call the dealer (2nd time) and explain that corporate is not at all standing behind this, and that the dealer needs to get involved since their salespeople sold the car, and theyre the originators of this issues. Long-short, theyre doing their best to defer and stay uninvolved, saying that theyre not responsible for anything at the time of sale involving warranty. In a situation like this, a brand that stands behind what they market, and a brand that supports and values their customers would simply HONOR THE TERMS the car was marketed and sold as, and move on. Instead, what Ive found is a brand that seizes on the opportunity to shirk away from what was promised at first opportunity, both at corporate as well as at the dealer.I hadnt had an issue with Hyundai before this, but this entire experience has left a terrible mark on the brand for me. In a lifetime youll buy on average 5 cars, and I can confidently say it will never be a Hyundai again, and I recommend no one else does. Dont be duped by the marketing of a 10-year warranty - it sounds too good to be true, and it is. I regret not buying the Jeep.
I bought my Accent on 2006: very economy in fuel, keep a regular maintenance and zero problems until now, look same than on 2006. The guarantees was for 10 year. Now they offer change car or new guarantee for 5 years.
I purchased a 2013 Elantra in July 2012. I like a lot of Hyundai owners got the notice of the MPG error. It was nice that Hyundai was attempting to compensate the consumer. I now have nearly 46,000 miles and the car will be 2 years old this July. When I purchase the Elantra , Hyundai advertised 40 MPG, highway mid 30s city. Within 6 months it dropped to 32 MPG. My Elantra gets 22 to 24 MPG. I think its time to get a lawyer. I wouldnt recommended a Hyundai to anyone. They sold me that car knowing it didnt get the gas mileage they advertised. Cant trust them, dont buy one!!!!!! .
I bought brand new Hyundai Elantra 2014 and after 3 years my engine failed. They couldnt identify the cause behind engine failure. They ordered new engine from Hyundai for replacement. My car is at dealership since past 6 weeks and still they didnt receive engine nor any updates. Worst service I ever seen for any automobile companies. Their cars are not reliable and not long list. Poor choice to buy any Hyundai car. Its better to walk than having car from Hyundai.
Stay away from Hyundai. Their warranties do not stand. Customer service is a joke. Your case manager will laugh at you on the phone & hang up. They do not stand by their warranty, products, consumer. Terrible.
On Oct 24th 2018 I activated my Blue Link via a dealer. I was given 3 months test of the system on my 2014 Equus. The next day I tried to use the system but it was not active. I called the service and told me 24 to 48 hours to get to my system. After the 48 hour mark the system still not activated. I called again on the 25th then the 26th still not activated. I was instructed to drive around to see of it would help, but nothing. When I called again on the 27th they apologized for the inconvenience but nothing they could do till a day or more passed. Upon calling on the 28th still not activated. Called again on the 29th and they apologized and gave me an extra month free to try the service. I was told it should be up any time. By end of day on the 29th still not working. On the 30th of Oct, I was told my service could not be started till the previous owner service was deactivated as I was told it was not fully deactivated in their name. They would need to deactivate my account and the original owners account before my service could work. After an hour on the line I was told they would call within 2 hours to let me know it was complete and my service turned on. I called after 3 hours and was told my account was cancelled and would need to be charged 279.00 to turn it on as I cancelled my trial. I was livid as I explained that the tech cancelled my service not me, and I wanted my service trial back because it was never turned on. Going back and forth they told me nothing could be done and we went around for an hour plus. No matter what I told them I would not get my service trial back. They directed me to call another number to complain, when calling the other number was told it was not a complaint line but another Blue Link center. I was lied to and cheated out of my service trial and fully pissed off they did this to me. Ive never been treated so badly by a company in my 50 years of life on this planet. Being lied to, is appalling by anyone. This company could care less about customer service. I was never disrespectful toward anyone on the phone, just in case you wondered. I was upset but not overly. I was so upset and confused by their actions. They never offered me a solution. Horrible in my eyes.
Hi, I bought a used 2005 Elantra with 28 thousand miles on it in 2008. About a year later (approx. 38K mileage), the airbag light came on when a passenger was in the front seat. The dealer said it was a recall item and gave me a rental while the seat was sent off to Ca for repairs. Within a year, the airbag light was coming on again intermittently when a passenger was sitting in the front seat (mid 40K mileage). The dealer said their was nothing they could do about it without seeing the light on. So every now & then when the light was on I was sidetracked to the dealership, but the light would go out before reaching them. Finally, last year the light stayed on long enough for the dealer to see it on. Thats when I was told the light did not need to be on to report the problem, but now the warranty had expired and I would have to pay for the repair! I reminded them about telling me the light had to be on and they played dumb like they never said it. Well, after a complaint to the manager they agreed to fix it for free as a goodwill gesture. Here we are about a year later (57K miles) and the airbag light stays on most of the time now.I called Hyundai USA to see what should be done as I have lost faith in the dealership. I am afraid they will simply unplug the airbag and I would never know! Hyundai USA in Ca. said I need to take it to the dealer and pay for a car inspection before they could look into the case. What can I do about this safety issue? Do I have a legitimate case for legal action against Hyundai USA or the dealership? PS: all I want is to know that the front passenger airbag will work in the event of an accident.
I purchased a Fluidic white car from Mody Hyundai (Malad W) in Mumbai, India. It was delivered to me on Sept. 7th, 2011. My car registration no. is **. I drove my car the 1st time on Sept. 10th when the car broke down at 3 in the morning. The gears refused to change. It would not change to any of the gears and the car stopped. I waited for 45 minutes on the road and finally I could drive my car. My car again broke down on Sept. 17th. This was the 2nd time I drove my car. The same problem persisted. The gears were not changing. I called the Hyundai guys and they insulted me when I went to their off in Malad West. They said that maybe I was changing the gears by pressing half clutch.My car broke down the 3rd time on Oct. 8th when I went to hotel Sea Princess. The valet guys said that the car refused to start. They pushed started the car and I got my car home. I finally called the toll free number for Hyundai on 25th. They took my car to their service station (Mody Hyundai) at Goregaon W. Even the Hyundai guys could not start my car. Nobody bothered to call me and update with the status of the car. I kept calling the Hyundai sales people. Finally, they called me on 11th and said that there was a problem with the starter motor, which they will replace. I kept telling them that there was a problem with the gear box but they did not listen.They, I again called on 12th. This time, they confirmed that there was a problem with the gears too and they would replace it. Hyundai got my car on 13th with a scratch on the front. This time, they blamed me saying that the scratch was on the car when I was driving. I refused to take my car and told them that I will accept it only if they remove the scratch. It has been a very embarrassing situation for me when my car broke down thrice in the middle of the night and once at a 5 star hotel. I requested the Hyundai guys to replace the car, as I had not even driven the car for 100 kms. and I faced so many problems. However, they refused saying that since it is under warranty, they will replace the parts and give my car back.Since I stay alone in Mumbai and work at night, it is very risky for me to drive a faulty car which breaks down every now and then. I request you to help me get my car replaced from the Hyundai people as this is bad customer service.
I have a beautiful Hyundai Tucson sitting in my driveway, towed there from the Dealership who advised my that my engine has failed and will cost $7000 to replace. The car is just a year and a half old. I missed a service therefore Hyundai will not assume any responsibility. I am disgusted that a car as new is this has an engine failure. It hasn’t run out of oil, no warning light came in (until the engine started rattling and I took it to the dealership the next day). Hyundai your customer service is as appalling as the engine in my car. I will be telling everyone to avoid Hyundai at all costs.
The car itself is wonderful. I have a hydrogen fuel cell Nexo. The company is terrible. Zero stars. Worst experience. I had my car towed to this location by roadside assistance from Hyundai, due to screw that lodged into my tire, causing it to flatten. This could have been a quick fix and I was told they give roadside tow-ins priority. Hyundai roadside assistance was great but did not check or mention my car model is not serviceable at all locations. I now know. The dealer held my car hostage for 4 days, no call back (left about 6 messages) until we called Sales department on 3rd day, and they spoke rudely to my friend who was trying to help me out (dont call service department they will never pick up or call back, go to sales they will pick up). I decided on the 4th day (Tues morning) after they told me it would be ready by Tuesday morning, to just simply show up and they said it would was not ready and would be ready in 5 hours. So I said I would sit there and wait, and when I finally decided to call another tow truck and told them to pull my car out, they said the tire was there and they were going to fix it now. Funny how that worked out. I also have an app on my phone that tells me the location of the car. It somehow was in SF not in Richmond when I checked on Saturday, but was back in the dealership on Sunday. Not sure if someone took it for a joyride, but after the non-communication, I wouldnt put it past them. Avoid this place at all cost. I love the Nexo, hate Hyundai the company and will be selling my car soon to avoid this headache again.
The controller on my rear seat air conditioner failed. The dealer (Gentile Hyundai) ordered the part on July 12, 2011. Today is September 6, 2011, and we still do not have the part, not withstanding that in our part of the country we have record heat. The service department person (Candice) has done a great job in keeping me informed when I called, but Hyundai corporate office apparently does not have to deal face-to-face with the customer. Obviously, they have a different set of customer relation values.I am now retired, but for the last 24 years of my work career, I served as CEO of various manufacturing companies. A few of these were involved with the automotive market. At no time would I or any of my executives (or any associate for that matter) be allowed to even suggest, to a customer that we could not deliver a part or parts to them in a reasonable period of time. The idea that no reasons are given for this delay, or any suggestion when it may arrive is absolutely outrageous.This is my first Hyundai, 2008 Vera Cruz AWD Limited. It could very well be my last, and I am not shy about sharing experiences, both good and bad. This is not meant to be any form of threat, only a complaint from a very unsatisfied customer who expects better. The fact that I even waited this long to register this complaint should make it clear to you that Im not a whiner. Wheres my part?
Bought a 2013 Tucson, 31000 miles 10/30/17. Purchased bumper to bumper warranty. Engine threw a rod 06/__/18. Warranty is voided due to failure to prove oil changes. After doing research I found out the engine has been recalled but only certain Hyundai and Kia models. Although engine Theta ii is same and has many complaints, the Tucson hasnt been recalled, but needs to be.
I was confused to see two emails with 3 different packages. You are forced to buy one in order to get the other two. Mike, sales rep, was not helpful in assisting in my request to speak with a manager, to receive a better understanding. I will not buy another Hyundai, and I will notify any else who plans to buy one with the bluelink. I just spoke with Mike at 7:00 pm, on May 21, 2018. I was very disappointed in Hyundai.
Over 30 days my 2014 model i30 with 25.000 km EPS unit couldnt be replaced and its still in the service. I basically cant drive a car which I paid to. Moreover I wouldnt like to discuss about the security issue of this part as I was driving, the wheel went off, wouldnt even turn. Thank god that I was driving in an easy road with a low speed so I had chance to park my car within a safe zone. I even wouldnt like to imagine what would happen if this problem would occur on the highway. Hyundai Turkey is behaving premature to handle the case. In this century I am not able to understand why the required part can not be delivered within 30 days while there are people touring around the world with bicycles or on foot less than 30 days. As a result of all, I dont have any other chances but to go to legal court to claim my rights and never ever touch anything called Hyundai.
I loved my Hyundai Sonata for the first couple of years. Had a couple of minor issues, but nothing major. After that, things started to go wrong - full throttle pump had to be replaced ($1000) dollars. Last week I hit 100,000 miles on my car. Then the next day the check engine light went on. Took it to the mechanic and they said it was something with the oil pump. They cleaned it, did an oil change, light went off. Next day, light came back on. Took it back, they replaced the part and when they took it for a test drive, the engine began seizing up. They told me it needed a new engine. Had it towed to dealership. They also said it needed a new engine. They told me that since it was over warranty, there would be no coverage. They informed me that the goodwill warranty determination would have to come from Hyundai manufacturing. Hyundai manufacturing told me it was determined by the dealership. I called the dealership again and they sent me back to Hyundai manufacturing.
We purchased a 2020 Hyundai Kona and drove it for approximately 12,000 miles. At that point, the transmission started lurching and the check engine light came on. We immediately took the car in to the dealer. After a week and a half calling almost every day to find out what was wrong, we were informed that the transmission had completely failed. Still under warranty, we had to wait another two weeks or so for Hyundai to approve the repair of a car with 12,000 miles. Obviously waiting for better than three weeks just to diagnosis the repair and get the green light for repair is absurd, but it gets so much worse. As you would expect, we called the dealer every couple of days to check in. 100% of our calls went to voicemail and the dealer returned our call about 1 out of every 4 times. We were finally told that Hyundai doesnt have the parts for repair and that they dont have any timeline for getting the parts. At that point, we tried to work with Hyundai to get the car repurchased under our state lemon law. Our particular law states that cars under warranty are eligible for lemon status if they have been in the sop for greater than 30 days (cumulative) while under warranty. When we started working with Hyundai, we were already at nearly 60 days without the car. Hyundai took our information 3 separate times because they are apparently as bad at record keeping as they are at manufacturing and customer service, and then denied our request without providing a reason for the denial. We have now gone to the BBB to try and resolve the issue under their manufacturers program. The BBB says that they generally resolve issues in 30 days, but we are weeks into the process and Hyundai hasnt even responded to the BBB complaint. As of this writing, our car has been at the dealer for 72 days and we still have no idea when we may get it back or whether Hyundai plans to force us to sue them. Meanwhile, we are trying to figure out what to do to get out of this terrible purchase decision. I dont know what more I can say to warn you, but for the love of everything that is holly, do not buy a Hyundai. Maybe you will get lucky and your new Hyundai wont have a breakdown, but you really need to ask yourself if you can risk months without a car, should you have an issue. There are better options out there and you should take them. Hyundai is not worth the risk, I promise you!
I own a 2013 Hyundai Veloster, first new car Ive ever purchased. My vehicle roof corroding due to poor manufacturing. Long story short Ive done the whole process for approval with the dealer (Ron **) and Hyundai claims the corrosion coverage is only 3/36. This is not what my owners manual says. It states 7/unlimited miles. Ive contacted Hyundai so-called customer care on now 5 different occasions. NONE of the people I have spoke with have ever contacted me back with resolution. The customer care line is a huge waste of time. No one there is capable of answering any question. They dont know their own manufacturers policy and procedures. It is appalling that Hyundai even claims them as customer care. Furthermore my 3-year-old vehicle should not have a roof that is corroding. Its super frustrating to be told that you cannot talk to anyone who can help. All I wanted was the time of day and someone to assist me with my concern. Instead I got the runaround for a month. A huge headache, super frustrated, no call back from anyone ever, and worst of all no answers. Do not buy any Hyundai product as they do not honor or even know their warranty policy. I will be heard on this concern as no one deserves to be treated like this.
I am using a Hyundai (I-10) car, about 2 yrs old. It has a major defect since I bought the car. I sent it to the showroom many times where I bought it from. But my prob is not yet solved. Due to this problem, I am putting a case against your Hyundai company.
My 2013 Accent has multi rust spots on roof and the right side on top of both doors. Took this issue to Hyundai last September 2014 for warranty issue but was denied by Hyundai saying this is caused by rock chips, this car was only twenty-six months old at that time. After saying this, the hood do have a few small chips which are not noticeable unless you really look for them and there is no sign of rusting. Now explain how can there be rust spots on the roof from so called rock chips when the hood has rock chips and no sign of rust. I had never had my car on gravel roads, yet my husbands Tucson, purchased at the same time, always on gravel roads, do not have any rust spots. I personally think because I am a woman that they can make that decision, guess what, this is not the end. I have been to a body shop and was told the rust is from inside out and do have this documented as of today, May 13, 2015. When I decided for the second time to purchase from Hyundai, I also convinced my husband to purchase one also, which he did at the same time, Hyundai Tucson. We will never ever purchase from Hyundai again. Please follow me in this and do not make any purchases from Hyundai. I will keep this going all the way if possible to get justice.
We needed roadside assistance since our car stop. The person sent was in a regular car and not under any towing service company. Very unprofessional. The person who gave us a jump start did it backward three times causing our car to set off an alarm and causing a surge charge to our car. Blew a fuse and the IMP box was fried. Now no one wants to take responsibility for the wrongdoing and $520.00 later and to top it off Im a suspect in this whole ordeal since the car was towed Sunday 2:33 am to our home and not towed to the dealer until Monday morning. So much for trust in services you pay for.Im canceling my service with them and make sure that I let people know how poorly I was treated and even accused of tampering with my own car. Really WTH, why would I try to fix something I have no idea how it works especially when the moron who charges my car wrong three times told us it was the alternator that was bad? My trust in Humans right now is not very a good one. Ill trust my dog better.
My original fuel pump went out at 80,000+ miles (2011), so I replaced it with a Hyundai part. Three months later at 86,000 miles, this Hyundai fuel pump went out. Now, 20 months later, the same issue, fuel pump #3. No warranty and $417 part out again. Hyundai dealers know this is an issue. It is well published I found out on the internet after my first encounter. Hyundai needs to take care of this issue if they wish to continue to sell vehicles in the US. Hyundai is using refurbished parts and refuse to admit there is an issue. I was told today they do not warrant their parts for more than 12 months. Now, I can no longer utilize the dealership of my vehicle because of faulty parts. Tempe Hyundai service manager would not help in any way. My next recourse is to contact the Hyundais General Manager. I feel everyone should know and stop buying their products if they cant build dependable parts and vehicles.
I am the original owner of a 2012 Hyundai Elantra GLS 6 speed manual, and the car currently have slightly over 150,000 miles. About 10 months ago I made my first attempt to get my car evaluated for rust spots that I noticed in various places (under side of the hood, gas fill cap area and frame above the muffler). Mostly spots are under the paint. I filed a complaint and obtained a case number. Despite having case number almost every time I called I had to explain the issue over and over again. I got a very little cooperation from the local Hyundai dealer (Branhaven Hyundai formerly Quality Hyundai) and a very slow response from Hyundai Motors of America. {and did not have anyone to contact most of the time}. The official response from Hyundai Motors of America came by mail only 6 months later denying warranty coverage. Only now after I got the letter I was able to get the name and address so I can file small claims writ for the cost of the repair and false advertisement. The official Hyundai website positing warranty coverage of 7 years unlimited miles, but for some reason my car did not stand in that guidance even if its only 5 years old. If you owned the same model vehicle Hyundai Elantra 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2014 ask your local oil change place or mechanic to look underneath the frame and see if you have the same problem and if you do please report it to your local Hyundai dealer. Please see attached pictures and if anyone else experienced a similar problem please share it. Its impossible that Im the only one experiencing the problem. I am from Connecticut so we do have salt on the road but I own other cars and none of them got rust like that even after 10 years.
Bought 2012 Genesis in July 2012. By Nov. 2012 noted rough ride on freeway and streets with small bumps or cracks would feel like car bottomed out with absolutely no Shock Sense which is still a problem today. Right veering/pull to right very minimal at first but now able to change lanes within approximately 3 seconds. Always told no issue found until recently. After researching the pulling to the right issue, many Genesis and other Hyundai cars have this issue, either right or left. Got Hyundai corporate involved and last time in shop for alignment issue, I drove with service tech to show pulling right issue. He agreed it did pull (same tech who 2 months earlier said there was no pull and even hinges was within specs).There is a Hyundai TSB for 2012 year put out in March of 2012 for alignment issue and how to evaluate it. Right front camber always in negative. Also excessive wear on right front tire even though rotated regularly. Black soot on tailpipe within a few months of having car, always told all OK. On looking up gdi 3.8 engines found this is a problem with need to use top tier gas and supposedly will need to clean intake valves, etc. Just research on Internet very interesting articles about gdi engines. Bluetooth drops phones and have to pair again with different name for phone. Just replaced carbon filter in fuel tank as on filling up gas pump constantly clicking off taking 15 minutes or so to fill up. Hyundai blamed veering to right in December 2015 on radial pull due to bad new tire or tires. We got second opinion from other alignment store and then obtained from where tires purchased. No radial pull noted, suspected strut and camber as camber in negative.Hyundai stated had to tweet subfamily on right to get right camber within specs. Interesting. Still have minimal pull to right but now dont change lanes within 3 seconds or less. For the paint chipping, we scratched or scuffed it up which is not true. We saw the exact same car color and year with the same problem on the frame under the driver door sill. Immediate response from Corporate and about week from their regional manager. Would definitely not buy another Hyundai. So fed up with this.
I purchased my first brand new Hyundai Excel in 1988 and it is still on the road so I took a shot and purchased a brand new Hyundai Accent. The Hyundai Accent runs smoothly and most of all, is not a gas-guzzler. Because I still have the Excel and other vehicles, I do not drive the Accent during the winter months. What I enjoy most about the Hyundai Accent, is yes, it gets great gas mileage but it drives like a luxury vehicle with lots of speed. Colorado roads are in bad need of repair but the Accent drives over most of the unavoidable potholes with ease. The drivers seat is comfortable as well as both the front and back passenger seats. I highly recommend the Accent because it has not caused me any major problems. I keep up with the general maintenance of oil change and tire rotation. I think the makers of Hyundai are doing a great job!
The Hyundai Sonata has a known problem with engine locking up around 140000. They know of the problem but will not stand behind the product. Get rid of them before 140000 or you will be buying a new engine.
My Hyundai Accent is less than two years old and has traveled only 14,000 kms. At my last service in May I advised the service center that a hole has appeared in my drivers side floor mat. I thought this was unusual due to the low kms and the fact that I mainly drive in bare feet not big boots. A claim was initiated and I was advised that it was denied as it was wear and tear. I could accept this if I had done a lot of kms in the vehicle however only 14,000 kms is not satisfactory. I have over the years owned a number of cars of various brands and travelled in excess of 200,000 kms in most with no similar problems. Is the construction of Hyundais so CHEAP AND NASTY that a carpet will wear out in such a short time. I had intended in keeping the vehicle but now think ILL REPLACE IT WITH ANYTHING OTHER THAN A HYUNDAI.
I own a Tucson ix35, I am very happy with the car to the point that I wanted to change my old one for a new Tucson. My disappointment started after I took it to the shop because of a hesitation problem. It was a Friday, at first I was attended adequately. They asked my phone to call me the next day (Saturday) to inform me what the car needed to solve the problem. They never called me until I showed up on Monday in the shop to see what the problem was. They have not even touched the car and they were surprised to see me there, at 3:00 p.m. I received a call telling me that the price was approximately 360 u.s.d because they did not know if other parts were faulty, showing that they have not checked the car professionally and technically to what I said to suspend the work.When I appeared to take my car, the person in charge tried to give me a not convincing explanation for the delay with a not very friendly attitude. After he was asked about report a serious shop is supposed to give the customers before delivering the car, the guy said Do you know what a check up is? and urged me to pay 39 u.s.d. My son was about to react but I signaled to calm down. I did not say a word, paid the bill and left the shop. The car was as dirty as I left (I do not know if they do not have any more the policy of delivering a clean car or simply the 39 dollars I paid are not worth it). Anyways the summary is: I as a customer feel mistreated and I am seriously reconsidering the possibility to buy another Hyundai. Take this information of my bad experience to try to improve the quality of the service. My best regards.
I bought Hyundai Sonata Hybrid 2016 brand new to today September 10 2019. I must spent more than $5000 to $7000 on maintenance. The car looks good looking at it but not reliable at at all. It’s sad they can get away with this kind business. The dealership seems like they don’t know anything about this car. I will come with problem and leave with same problem. This is my 6th car. I never had any experience like this.
I bought an Elantra car for Hyundai Des Moines dealer, actually I bought a lemon. I bought this car because its fuel efficiency as they advertise it is 28-38 mile, but in the first day I found that its mpg is 24 and it stated drop by time and after one week it become 17.5. That is unbelievable. It is like a big SUV. I contact the company and they requested to put it in service. This is not acceptable. A new car go to service in the first two weeks. The government must protect the customer from the liar car companies and we must be able to return the car if it is not as they said. Another serious issue was its tire - it has no traction on snow. I get stuck on snow 4 times. I need to change the tires and this is unacceptable too. Could anyone guide me how to return this car?
End of last year Nov 2011, I decided to buy a new car for my wife. Considering the economy was not so good, we decided to find a car which has low fuel consumption in the category of 1.6 and below. After making various market survey with the explanation from salesman from various model, we decided to go for Hyundai i10 1.25. The consumption is around 18 to 22 km per litter according to the salesman and it is stated in the technical brochures 5.3/100km combine fuel consumption. Due to that, we bought the car. It was delivered to us on 21st of November 2011.On the first day of delivery when I drove the car home on the highway, the car suddenly stopped. Luckily, there was no car behind me. I started the car again and drove it and it has no power. Due to it is near by my house about 4 km, I decided to drive slowly back home and call for Hyundai technical people to take back the car. About half a day, the Hyundai tow car came and picked the car for repair. After about two days, the car was delivered back to me. I drove the car and it looked okay. The next day, I gave it to my wife to use it. About two weeks, my wife drove the car. She relished that the fuel consumption was very high. I took the car and make an official complaint to Hyundai. They check my vehicles and told me that it is not a problem. They also tell me that to send for the first service at 1,000 km.On 7th December 2011, I sent my car to Hyundai for the first service. I also complain about fuel consumption. After the service, I start recording the fuel consumption. From my reading and record, the fuel consumption at average is about 11.5km per litter. On 8 Jan 2012, I make another official complaint and Hyundai do a testing again and they said there is no problem. The technical guy said the fuel consumption is about 14km per litter. It is contradictory with the salesman and technical brochures as mentioned earlier. In this case, we feel that we being cheated by the Hyundai when the technical guy said it is about 14km per litter. The worst is the real consumption according to speedometer and my record, it is on average of 11.5km per litter.I made another official complaint on 30th of January 2012 during my second service. They made another try and said that it is okay about 14km per liter. I told them that I cannot get that mileage. They cannot explain to me further. I made another official complaint on 4th March 2012 and left the car for two weeks until 22nd March 2012 for them to check and give me the result. Unfortunately, when I received the car on 22nd March 2012, they did not make an attempt to check it until the last day they delivered to me, still cannot tell me the problem. I feel that Hyundai has cheated me.On 26th of March, I made another official complaint about it but until today, they did not contact me. For information, I have given the record and data of refueling and mileage reading to them. I do not know if they are interested to rectify the problem or they could not care less about it.
DO NOT BUY A PALISADE!!! We’ve had our Palisade for four months. We love the features and ride but had it back to the dealership five times because of excessive winds noise at highway speeds (> 50 mph) noticeable in the front seats. The dealership pressure tested the cabin, replaced door seals, and checked door alignment. Finally, they removed the side view mirrors and determined the whistling sound is wind turbulence from the mirrors after a test drive. The dealership has been great but Hyundai refuses to acknowledge the issue. We opened a case with Hyundai but their case manager said there is no design flaws so there is nothing they can do. I just want a brand new $50K vehicle to act like a $50K vehicle. DO NOT BUY A PALISADE!!!
I am sharing my experience so that everyone is aware about such poor system to avoid. I co-signed a lease agreement for my son to lease a Hyundai Elantra 2017 last year. It appears that my son stopped paying his lease starting June. We, his parents, were under the impression that he is in contact with Hyundai to manage his payment, apparently this was not true.On July 22, 2017, bailiff came to collect the car. We were very cooperative and let the car go. I wanted my son to learn a lesson. This was not a joke to stop paying for his lease. However, the person from bailiff, never explained that there will be storage charges, the lease payment will continue to accumulate after he takes the car even if we no longer have or use the car, and all other fees I end up paying, simply he did not gave us an honest advise. Otherwise I would pay what Hyundai requires and keep the car without going through this emotional distress. With high blood pressure and other medical conditions it makes me feel even worse.On August 4th, I received a registered mail from bailiff explaining the charges. The letter did not include a single telephone number to contact. Being proactive, I went to the dealership for information. The financial adviser there tried to assist by calling Hyundai Capital for more information. Surprisingly, Hyundai Capital did not have an update about the car status which has been taken since July 22!!! This rep gave us the bailiff telephone number, however. The financial adviser gave me the telephone number for Hyundai Capital. I called all parties to gather information. Another person from bailiff sent me the required amount which I paid on Aug 8th, that was $1677.69.On August 9th bailiff confirmed receiving the fund and other documents were requested. However, bailiff requested additional payments for a time period I did not use the car at all as the car was/is still on hold by bailiff as explained earlier. I contacted Hyundai Finance, provided a Void Cheque with my personal banking information and authorized them to take this amount. Later speaking with Hyundai collection department they explained that this payment has to be deposited to bailiff which I did.Morning next day I received a confirmation from bailiff confirming receiving the fund and in communication with Hyundai to get release approval. I forwarded this bailiff e-mail confirmation to [email protected]. The car has accumulated storage charges, I paid lease payment for a car I do not have or used at all since July 22 until I received it back about mid August, I found myself as the one who was coordinating the conversations between bailiff and Hyundai, but yet neither Hyundai nor bailiff were willing to compensate or provide a satisfactory level of customer service.I spoke with Hyundai finance several times with false promises to call me back, never did. Finally by end of day I received a call from the auction that the car was held by that an approval has been received to release the car. I picked up the car after paying the redemption fee, storage fee and taxes. I have the car and the lease payment are in good standing since. Now, my son has been receiving letters under his name, not mine, to pay additional charges. I called Hyundai last week, they advised I am still missing a payment, however Hyundai could not specify what is this payment for, they was supposed to investigate this further from their end and call me back, Hyundai never did. Today my son received the same note about this payment. I called this evening, Oct 10, 2017, and got someone on the phone, who told me this fee is a repossession fee. However the letter doesnt say anything about a repossession fee, it says Prior billing and misc charges returned item handling. This person mentioned this was written on the agreement, I found myself forced to pay an additional amount of money I have not been expected or ready to pay. I am not sure how Hyundai expect every single person to read such agreements, and if happen how easy the terms will be understood by an average person. All these should have been explained beforehand at the dealership before signing the agreement, which never happened. This by far the worst/worst experience I ever had with such a system. I regret I considered getting a car deal from Hyundai. In simple words, stay away from such poor system.
I just had my Hyundai 2012 Sonata serviced for a gas leak. They told me it was a packing fuel pump and cap assembly fuel filler. All Goethe’s they charge me 383.12 dollars for only changing the fuel cap which was the real issue and they milked it by keeping me waiting for more than two hours. I realized they did not change the packing fuel pump because they never asked me for the special key to remove one of the lug nuts to my tire where the gas cap is located. They ripped me off, and I realized this when I got home and said “How come they didn’t ask for the key to remove the special lug nut?” How can I get my money back on this issue? I am really pissed off because of how they are getting away with this.
I sent the requested documentation and called on three separate occasions, but as of yet, I still have not received the money for the purchase of the battery that I was assured was on the way in 4-6 weeks. It has now been over 3 months.
GC 2013 3.8 Track (Love Car cant say the same for Company) - On Saturday, April 16th, 2016 I went to Balise Hyundai to have my vehicle serviced and to address my concerns about the paint peeling on the front bumper near the hood of the car. I showed the peeling paint to the service advisor Phil ** who took pictures of my front bumper and stated that he would pass them along to the person who handles warranty claims. Phil explained that I would need to come back to Balise Hyundai during the week to have my concerns addressed. It is important to note taking time off during the week was not feasible during that time due to the structure of my current role and the responsibilities it entails.On Wednesday May 11th, 2016 I brought my vehicle to Balise Hyundai and showed the bumper to Bob ** (Service Director) who immediately began to tell me that my warranty didnt cover the damage and that it appeared as if the bumper was painted over or that something had spilled on it and therefore was not Hyundais responsibility to cover. Bob proceeded to take pictures while he instructed his co-worker Stephanie to gather some info on my vehicle. After a few minutes of both Bob and Stephanie examining my vehicle, I asked Stephanie to update me on what was being discussed. She stated that I was not under warranty for paint as my car was three years old. I told her that while my car was a 2013, I did not begin my lease until September of 2013. She then asked me about the mileage which I told her was less than 36,000 miles. Another 5 to 10 minutes of conversation with Bob yielded a plethora of biased assumptions that I found to be quite concerning. Bob ** insinuated I caused the damage to my vehicle. I left Balise Hyundai and then called Hyundai Motor America to report my warranty claim and ask questions. At that point, the integrity of Bob ** was in question and I was concerned that Bob would intentionally fail to submit the warranty claim and tell me it was not covered or submit the claim filled with biased narrative and minimal facts. I spoke with a Genesis representative named Christina (case #**) and she explained to me that she would look into it and contact Balise Hyundai to follow-up. Christina said she would call me back that day to update me however I never received a call. Later that day I was set to travel out of the country for two weeks. On Thursday, May 26th, 2016 I contacted Hyundai Motor America to follow up regarding my warranty claim. I explained that I had not heard from Bob or Stephanie about next steps.On Friday, May 27th, 2016 I received a call from Stephanie who left a voicemail stating that Hyundai wanted me to take my vehicle to the Balise repair shop to get an estimate of the damage. Upon hearing the message left by Stephanie I called her back and was unable to speak to her directly. I left a detailed voicemail inquiring about the arrangement of a specific date/time to bring the car for an estimate. Stephanie never responded to my message.On Saturday, June 4th, 2016 I brought the vehicle to Balise to get the estimate and was told that the repair shop is only open during the week. I spoke with General Manager Brian ** who told me to email him pictures of the paint concerns and that he would get an estimate for me on Monday and send me the quote. (See attached photos) On Tuesday, June 7th, 2016 Brian emailed me stating that a rep is coming today and will see if he approves the work. Estimate is $1,300. On Wednesday, June 8th, 2016 I emailed Brian back and ask him if the rep would be calling me directly to let me know the decision concerning my car. Brian emailed me back informing me that it was decided that my hood would not be covered but that the decision to repaint the bumper hadnt been made yet. On Friday, June 10th, 2016 I emailed Brian to find out how long it would be to determine if my bumper was going to be covered under warranty. He replied back confirming it would be 7 to 10 business days. On Tuesday, June 21st, 2016 I emailed Brian seeking an update on the pending situation. I received no reply.On Wednesday, June 29th, 2016 I receive a voicemail from Bob ** stating that he wanted me to return his call because Consumer Affairs wanted a factory rep to look at my vehicle. He also stated the rep would be at Balise on Thursday (the very next day). I called Bob back to arrange the time for the factory rep to see my vehicle. I explained to Bob that I worked and that he was giving me very short notice. I asked if I could schedule something for Friday or the week after and Bob told me that the Factory rep only comes once a month and that if I didnt come tomorrow (Thursday) it would be next month before another meeting could be arranged.On Thursday, June 30th, 2016 I arrived at Balise at approximately 7:30 am which was the agreed time slot. This time was chosen as it was early enough for business to be handled and ensured Id make it to work on time. The factory rep showed up after 7:30 am and while I sat in the waiting area Bob failed to inform me that the factory rep arrived. At around 7:50 am I went to find Bob to inquire about the factory rep. That is when I was informed that Loi **, Eastern Region District Parts & Service Manager was already looking at my car. When I approached Loi he informed me that he was checking to see if there was any report of an accident concerning my car. After a few minutes, Loi approached me and told me that the bumper damage was going to be covered but not the chipped paint on the hood of the car. I was then instructed to go to the Balise repair shop and schedule a date to have my car brought in for repair. I followed those instructions and spoke with the Collision Repair Manager, Tim **. We agreed to have the bumper painted on July 11th, 2016 and he told me that it would take two days.On Monday, July 11th, 2016 I brought my car to Balise repair. To my surprise, I then had to rent a car from Enterprise because Balise Hyundai stated that they didnt have any loaners. They also informed me that even if they did have loaners, it would cost me. Over the course of two days, it cost me $60 to rent the car from Enterprise. On July 13th, 2016 I returned to Balise to pick up my car but was told that it was not ready. I was then left to rent a vehicle for another day. For my inconvenience, Jim ** who works for Balise Collision Repair agreed to cover the rental cost for that day.On July 14th, 2016 I returned to Balise to pick-up my car and was astonished by what I saw. I spoke with Balise Collision Repair Appraiser, Jesse ** about the fact that the color of the bumper that was painted did not match the color of the rest of the vehicle! During my conversation with Jesse, he informed me that prior to beginning the paint job he called over to Bob ** and asked about blending the paint into the hood and the fender to prevent the noticeable color difference. He was told by Bob to only paint the bumper. Jesse explained to me that the color difference was typical with the type of paint on my car and that during most repairs to assure that the color matches the other parts of the car they blend into the other areas. (See attached photos)I havent yet heard about whether or not I will be reimbursed or receive credit towards my monthly payment. When I followed-up with Hyundai Motor Finance about my situation was I essential told sorry for your troubles. You still must pay your monthly bill and if we dont receive payment we will repo your car. It will be auctioned and all accrued expenses will be your responsibility. Moral of this story: Dont buy Hyundai as their Customer Service is horrible and they dont care about loyal customers.
Hyundai wont credit a months lease payment even though my vehicle is in for engine repairs for over a month and the clock is still ticking. I leased a 2012 Genesis R-spec. Around 12,000 miles, I started hearing intermittent engine knocking. When I took the car in for service, a service specialist said there is no issue and any engine issues would be covered by a warranty. 5,000 miles later, the engine knocking was happening all the time above 2,500 RPM or under acceleration or driving up a hill. When I took the car in for service, the service specialist said yes, this engine knocking. Five weeks later, Im still without my Genesis. Apparently, Hyundai doesnt know how to maintain a parts supply chain very well. Besides the engine problem, there are other design problems with the car: seats with very poor support that become very noticeable on a long drive; too much play in the steering wheel which at high speeds can be a bit dangerous since there can be an abrupt jerk of the wheel; and a transmission that doesnt always know when to shift. As a previous owner of Mercedes, BMW and Lexus, I will surely think twice about owning a Hyundai again.
We purchased a Hyundai Elantra in 2009 hoping to get at least 100,000 miles value, but to my disappointment the transmission went after 75,000 miles thankfully was still under warranty. 10,000 miles later the motor in the power steering has gone, which when we went to dealer they informed us the 10yr/100,000 mile warranty does not cover this only transmission & engine, so their bumper to bumper warranty is false. Our personal mechanic has informed us that this is happening frequently. Why has there been no safety re-call? Does some tragedy have to occur before this is a safety recall?
