Hyundai Automobile Model 2023 Hyundai Sonata
Three years ago, I purchased a new Hyundai Genesis. Unfortunately, the car veered to the right which make driving difficult and dangerous. When I first brought the car in, the dealer denied a problem. When I returned shortly thereafter, they reluctantly agreed that the car lurched to the right. After a series of trips back and forth to the dealer, the tires were replaced, the alignment was redone, the electronics were revised and the problem persisted. After my 6th or 7th visit, I gave them the car and told them that I would not take it back till the problem was solved. They kept the car for months and were never able to sort it out. Meanwhile, I communicated with corporate Hyundai and they were rude. I finally invoked the lemon law and my money was returned (not the interest that I had been paying Hyundai as they held the loan on the car). Needless to say, whenever I see a Hyundai on the road, I think to myself what a poor sucker is driving that car. I will never buy a Hyundai again.
Dont get me wrong, Ive had my Hyundai Sonata for 3 years now and Ive been a loyal customer, having a Sonata for 3 more years prior to that (6 years total). With the end of my lease, I drove my car up to the dealership I had got it from and they refused to take it, saying that they didnt have anymore space in their lot. They referred me to a different dealership who I then called and told me that they only take cars back that have been leased from them originally. They told me that my original dealership should be obligated to take it back. So we called my original dealership again and they again said they could not take it because of space issues. We then proceeded to call the headquarters, boggled at how Hyundai wouldnt take in their own vehicle... What are we supposed to do? We cant keep it cause its illegal, but no one wants to take it? Im baffled. Then I proceeded to call customer service to talk about my lease end deals and the woman was completely rude for no reason whatsoever. I was not notified of a payment that hadnt gone through and could not make debut payments because you cant do so online (which is so archaic that your only online option is to pay by check). As a once loyal customer of Hyundai, I dont think Ill ever return to this unprofessional mess.
Please be super careful when leasing a Hyundai. Hyundai Finance, at the time of return of the vehicle, will most likely charge you a large (return) disposition fee, perhaps as high as $400.00. If your tires are worn (this is beyond the excess wear and tear charge of $.20 a mile), they will charge you $195.00 per tire (far greater than a Walmart retail price and even the retail price at a Hyundai dealer). So you will essentially be buying new tires for the next owner. Good luck with your new Hyundai.
I purchased three Hyundai vehicles in less than 12 months. The third vehicle I purchased was the 2013 Hyundai Tucson. This vehicle has went to the shop for repairs from July to Today, September 16 for transmission problems. After replacing the transmission on August 13th, I had to tow it to dealer because I broke down on Sunday, September 14, 2014. This was the 4th visit to the dealer since the initial complaint in July. Wow to my surprise I was told at Hyundai Plaza Mall Service that it was the driving of the vehicle that made the axle jump out of the transmission. I or someone was throwing the vehicle in park, reverse without coming to a stop. I cant figure out if that was my driving behavior. Why did not this occur on the other cars I had bought from there? I give their service a thumbs down and I have definitely lost all trust in the Hyundai brand.
I recently and painfully purchased a new elantra limited. Painfully, because of all the runaround I encountered and despite having researched extensively, still having gotten screwed financially. Dont look for any fairness at Hyundai in Pittsburgh, cause they wear you out with the run around, even if youre trading in a Hyundai sonata that was supposed to keep its value. The sale price for the car may be $21000, but it ended up costing me over $25000 with a trade in. And should I be upset about having blowout flat tire at 533miles, especially when both Hyundai and the tire manufacturer Hankook both deny the defectiveness of their cheap tires? It appears that since Hyundai is dependent on the dealerships to sell their cars, they are Willing to give them some slack on dishonoring the warranties, including on their defective tires. Defective tires can lead to accidents and death! I suppose it will take a certain amount of death to occur before Hyundai takes some action like GM had to. I thought Hyundai was better than that, but apparently not!
We have owned a 2003 Hyundai XG350 since new. It now has less than 30,000 miles on it and we recently noticed that the airbag light was on and it needs an inspection sticker. We were told that the airbag issue would have to be repaired before the car would pass inspection. The service manager (Frank) told us that he has seen several of these problems in the XGs and that to repair it properly, it would require a new wiring harness for around $500. I commented to him that this sounds like an engineering defect on Hyundais part, and that they should repair this at their cost. Hyundai refused.
My 87 year old Mother took her 2010 Hyundai Elantra to her local dealer who has always done her oil changes. She received a call from the service manager telling her the underside of her car was so severely rusted that repairs would be so expensive. He suggested she get rid of her car stating that it would be dangerous for her to drive it. Her car has 19,000 miles and is two months away from being paid off after a five year auto loan. The car had last been brought in for an oil change in December 2014. No one ever mentioned any concerns about rust only five months ago! So, apparently all of this rust happened in a period of four months! I went with her to pick the car up. We are scheduling a second opinion for this week. Something is just not right. To be continued.........
I have the Hyundai Sonata 2011 that was manufactured in Alabama between Dec 11, 2009 and April 12, 2012 part of the recall campaign 132. Prior to this my Sonatas motor seized up and stopped work with only 60K miles and at that time the company did not want to honor the warranty and also gave me a very hard time about the loaner so much that I had to rent a car myself. I later contacted someone at the corporate office in CA and finally received a full refund. Now my motor goes out with no warranty at 154K miles. Send the car to my mechanic for repairs. Out of pocket 15.000+ only to find out that there was nothing left but to replace the motor according to my VIN number. This is what Hyundai motors said and was also told that money I spent would be reimburse in 90 days. Well its been 100 + days without even a courtesy call?
Bought my 2nd Hyundai 2 months ago and have yet to get them to take care of the pulling problem. They have done an alignment on it once and it still pulls to the left. Ive gone to a dealer closer to me, wasted an hour only to be turned down, saying to go to where I bought it from. Then Ive been trying to schedule with another dealer and they wouldnt even respond to me. 2 weeks ago I submitted a complaint to Hyundai consumer affairs and till this day Ive just been ignored after several email exchanges and a phone call from the rep telling me shell call the dealer for me then nothing again. Ive bought more then 10 new cars before and never did a car maker just ignores my service request like Hyundai. Beware how theyll treat you nice, sell you a $30k car and then kick you to the curbs. Will never buy another Hyundai again.
I purchased my Accent 2007 brand new off the lot. It is a 5-speed manual shift. I have had extreme brake problems ever since but thats the least of my trouble. Driving to work one night last week, I was moving in traffic and the car just shut off. Luckily, I was able to drift safely to the side of the road I was on. I had to have the car towed to my garage. The next morning, the mechanic called to give me the bad news. My timing belt broke. Okay, I could handle that until he told me the rest... In these cars, when the timing belt breaks, the valves in the motor keep moving and are most likely bent. So I have to pay for the repair and when we try to start it, we will know for sure. I am sick over this. I am on a tight budget and cannot afford a new car at this time. My job is 50 miles one way and I now have no way to get there. Shame on Hyundai for placing such a faulty piece of equipment in their vehicles. I owned a Hyundai Excel years ago and had 200,000 plus miles on it and only ever had to replace a thermostat in it. Had I known how poorly Hyundai is building their cars now, I would have never bought another one. But you can bet that I will never purchase another, nor will anyone in my family. I also work in a big hospital... Thats a lot of potential customers, Hyundai.
I have a 2013 Hyundai Elantra and car just went over a small pothole and my tire was flat. I used Hyundai roadside assistance and they towed the car to the nearest dealership. Today they said that the wheel was damaged and I would need a new one costing $450. I asked them whether they would be able to fix the wheel and they said that they dont do that at the dealership and I would have to take it elsewhere. Here is why I am angry.Elantra does not come with a spare tire. They guarantee a huge mileage and one factor is because the weight of a spare tire is reduced. They also say that in case of a flat tire, we can drive around 50 miles to the nearest dealer as these are all tubeless tires and would still run with a flat tire. Well that is exactly what I did and I drove for 3 miles and the car started wobbling and I had to stop as I had my baby inside my car. Hyundai has free roadside assistance and this is why I cancelled my roadside assistance plan with my insurance. However there is a catch here - the car gets towed to the Hyundai dealer (in this case Patrick Hyundai in Schaumburg) who then makes sure that they rip the customer off so that they do not have to bear the cost of the tow. They told that the wheel itself had to be replaced. The rim was banged up and they had to replace the wheel. If was the roadside assistance of an auto insurer, we could have towed the car to any mechanic near us and they would have fixed the wheel. But now as my car is in the Hyundai dealership, I have to replace the part. The wheel gets banged up when it goes on a pretty small pothole? What kind of a wheel is this? The tire is not damaged at all but the wheel rim is damaged. How could this happen. Either Hyundai wheels are not good quality or the dealership is trying to rip off the customer to make up for the towing expense.I wanted to take the wheel to a different workshop to see what they would say but I badly needed the car today and I had to travel tomorrow morning. So I asked the dealer to go ahead and change the wheel. Overall I am unhappy. I am warning all my friends about this as many people fall for the 10 year warranty and free roadside assistance and 8.95 oil change.
This morning I found my front passenger tire completely deflated in the parking lot of my apartment complex, right as I was trying to get to work. I reached out to Hyundais roadside assistance hotline and I spoke with Bridget, who was so patient with me and very helpful. She was very detailed with me and was able to get assistance to me in under an hour. They also sent a link to my cellphone so that I could track en route where the tow truck was and how soon they would be there. Josh, my roadside assistance mechanic, was early and could not have been nicer. He was finished with my tire replacement in ten minutes or less and answered all of my questions. He also made sure I had an appointment right away to get my tire fixed/replaced. My service today was excellent and I highly recommend Hyundais 24/7 assistance program. They really made me feel like a valued customer.
They repaired the throttle sensor on my 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe on 06-27-12. I did not notice that the hood latch did not work after until I went to have my battery checked the first part of 08/2012. At that time, I called them about it. The man, who was my service tech, did not say much. I took it to my dealer the last of August to have some work done. They told me that it would cost $119.00 to repair it. I feel that West Broad Hyundai of Richmond should repair or pay my dealer for the work. The latch cover on the inside of the car had to be taken off in order to open the hood. You now have to pull the wire to open the hood.
I bought my i10 car from your dealer at Chandigarh KLG Hyundai in the year 2011 on 31.12.2011, vide my car no is **. I noticed that my seat rail bracket got rusted badly. Both driver and co driver when I noticed that this problem is not there in my 15 year old Maruti CAR.
I do not understand, and I will try to summarize my experience so as to save everyone the grief of reading an extensive unpleasant experience. In short, I have leased with Hyundai since I was 20 years old. I am 24 now, and this car (so am on my second lease now) is one of the biggest regret of my young adult life. For my previous leased vehicle, I was hit with a bill of nearly 5,000 dollar, which a very big chunk of that money did not apply to my actual balance since I continued to lease with them. After the proper deductions, my bill went down to about 3,600. That is fine, except that each time I called to have a number confirmed, I received a different quote. I once called literally sobbing because I had no idea what to do, in which I was “helped” by a woman that talked over me the whole time, was terrible at explaining anything to me, and told me I could “get a second job” to try to pay for my balance. Okay. I paid the money and received a voicemail (not very clear to make out what it said) saying something about my balance. I called back to try to get back to that person, had their extension and everything to confirm that they received my payment, and literally spent 20 mins on the phone with someone, intermittently getting put on hold, only to be told they could not find the extension or the balance I was speaking of. I finally have let it go and assumed that they received my payment. This is the gist of that experience. Today, I called because I am having trouble with the radio playing over the music I am streaming, so I called to get help. The lady on the phone said “we don’t help with that, I can give a number of you have anything to write down” and I said that I was driving, asked if I could get forwarded to the proper place. So she forwarded my call, and a lady answered and I could not hear or understand her at all. Finally, she spoke closer and I could hear her louder but still not well. I explained my problem, she said “yeah we don’t help with that” so I told her I was forwarded and didn’t know what to do. She literally said “thank you have a nice day” and hung up. HUNG UP. I was mid sentence and baffled and honestly, I am starting to figure things out on my own whenever I have a problem with my Hyundai vehicle, because customer service has been so incredibly unhelpful, rude, and appalling to interact with, honestly. It’s so shameful, and I am not sure if this is normal? Do other vehicle companies do this to their customers? I am planning to purchase my current vehicle so I will be with Hyundai for a long time, which sincerely fills me with dread and I am starting to feel resentful. This has been a terrible experience since the start, and I don’t call anymore to spare myself the stress of interacting with these people. I don’t even have the words. Just absolutely terrible.
I purchase a 2020 Hyundai Kona, in Aug 2020, and the exterior black trim around the doors, windows and rear liftgate have faded! I took it to the dealership and was accused of waxing them, thus making them fade? Does that make sense? I called the Hyundai customer care department and opened a case only to be told you waxed it and they will not do anything about it! I didnt wax them, but now I have to live with it. BEWARE OF HYUNDAI PRODUCTS! I have the 2020 Kona Ultimate with faded black trim! The family that they claim you belong once you purchase a Hyundai doesnt exist!
I purchased a new 2012 Hyundai Sonata from the Liberty Hyundai dealership in New Hudson, MI and experienced engine problems about a year later. I took the car into the dealership and was told I would receive a loaner car when they got some in stock. After continuously calling for a few days, I was told they still didnt have any loaners. After a while they called and told me that I could not get a loaner because they needed authorization to tear down my engine. So basically the service department manager lied about giving me one in the first place. He then told me his rep authorized to tear down my engine to see what was the cause of it not running correctly and burning oil. They told me I had sludge in my engine and the oil was never changed even though I have receipts to prove the oil was changed. The manager then said the place I got it changed from really didnt change the oil and I would have to go back to them. He then said as a result, my warranty was void and it would cost me $4,200-$8,000 to replace my engine. This was not the only problem I had with this dealership. The service manager also told me there is a recall on my car. I asked if they fixed the problem for the recall and he said, “No, unless we have the engine fixed.” When I first bought the car, they told me about a tire warranty, which is also a waste of money! They told me how great it was, and that if anything goes wrong with any of my tires, the company that offers the insurance would come out change my tire and cover expenses. I learned firsthand that wasn’t true at all. I had a flat tire and called the insurance company. They told me I needed to take it in to a reputable tire place such as Belle Tire. I took it to Belle Tire and had to pay for a new tire. The insurance company told me they wouldn’t pay for the replacement, and I come to find out if they did, it would be as a reimbursement. I was only happy that the flat tire didn’t happen when I was driving or on the side of the road, because they wouldn’t have come out to my location immediately. I am absolutely displeased and angered by their service! It seemed as soon as I pulled into the service department for them to look at the car, they were not trying to help - they were telling me lies and saying anything just so they wouldnt have to fix it. Not only will I never buy from Hyundai again, I will tell those who ask me about getting a Hyundai that it is not worth the trouble. Lord forbid something goes wrong, and it will with their cars, because they will not fix it.
Bought a 2014 Hyundai Accent hatchback. During the purchase I was upsold extended warranty (BIG mistake $2600). All was fine until snow fell. Bottom of the car, which is covered with what appears to be black cardboard, began peeling off. Apparently driving in the snow is considered reckless driving and not covered by warranty. If you live anywhere there is snow, do not purchase vehicles from countries that do not have such weather. And definitely do not purchase extended warranties!
My daughter bought a 2013 Hyundai Azera with 33K miles on it. It just came out of warranty and within less than 2000 miles over warranty limit, her car needs a timing chain. She has diligently kept this vehicle well maintained, has all the service records to prove so. Hyundai knows and is fully well aware that there are issues with both the Azeras and the Sonatas regarding the timing chain, yet they refuse to repair this issue or even offer to cover a portion. Will not ever purchase another Hyundai vehicle again and I was just about to get one for myself, nope not happening now!
I purchased a brand new Hyundai about a month ago and have had nothing but problems with the BlueLink app. Originally, I had issues with the app timing out, reading that my battery charge was at zero percent when it really was mostly charged (a little startling at first until I realized the app was faulty), and also a red alert telling me my car charge wasnt connected when it clearly was charging in front of me. I called and had this corrected (for the most part) until recently when I called again as the app wasnt responding. When I called this last time and talked to Yannick in Winnipeg (not sure why they have their call center in Winnipeg) I was told from the start to uninstall the app and reinstall a new version as the new version has bug fixes. After I did this Yannick asked me what kind of phone I had and I told him I have an iPhone 6. He then said that BLUELINK ISNT COMPATIBLE WITH AN iPHONE 6. I was shocked to hear this and upset that he asked me to download the new version of BlueLink BEFORE asking me what kind of phone I had. He said I cant reinstall the original version I had as that one is no longer available to install. This information was confirmed in writing by a supervisor with BlueLInk. So now I cannot use BlueLink unless I use a different device (which I dont have). Im certainly not going to cart around my laptop in the supermarket so that I can see remotely how much charge is left on my battery. Its very frustrating as this BlueLInk app is marketed so strongly by Hyundai. The app is featured prominently in every TV commercial, their websites and on all of their print advertising. Yet its got so many problems (apparently the same problems for several years judging by the reviews). Its amazing that the BlueLink IT team isnt fired and a more senior and capable team take over the operations. I was really looking forward to using the BlueLInk app and was even told by the salesman you can be vacationing in Europe and see how quickly your car is being charged in Canada. Haha, pretty funny. He obviously had never used the app before. Im currently in discussion with the GM at the dealership to get a credit for the equivalent value of having 3 years of BlueLInk. This was offered as a 3-year free trial and Im sure that it was reflected in the purchase price.
We love the appearance of our Hyundai Sonata. However, it is covered under an oil consumption recall which the dealer will not fix. Hyundais complaint department is no help other than recommending us going to another dealer. The next dealer is further away from us. We already drive too far to the current dealer for them to do the oil consumption test. Said oil consumption test involves the dealer changing the oil early due to the oil consumption. They have guidelines that say the car must use 1 quart of oil by 1,000 miles. Our car makes it barely past 1,000 miles and then hits 2 quarts low before the oil change is due.We have been advised not to add oil or get oil changed anywhere other than the dealership. Thats what we are doing. They seem to overfill the oil each time which gets us barely past that 1,000 mile guideline. We cant trust this car for trips. We cant keep driving back and forth to the dealership for them to do nothing. We will not buy another Hyundai and we will continue to warn others of our troubles.
I purchased my 2005 Hyundai Tuscon new from the Kolar Hyundai dealership based primarily on the advertised warranty coverage of 10 years and 100,000 miles bumper-to-bumper as they advertised it (it’s still under a warranty plus program which I did have to pay for). Since then my Tuscon is in need of a bearing replacement on the left rear tire (it has seized). When I called the dealership, I was told they would not tow the vehicle or repair it without me covering all the costs. My warranty is currently at no cost to me for repairs or towing. I was told to call the Hyundai warranty number. The lady I spoke to informed me that if it was an American-made vehicle, it would be covered since bumper-to-bumper means that. But since it is a Hyundai and the rear wheels are not drive wheels, it is not covered after 60,000 miles. I asked her again why Hyundai is not honoring their advertised bumper-to-bumper warranty. Again, I was told it is because Hyundai is not an American-made vehicle (assuming she meant a vehicle made by Ford or other American vehicle corporations). I am now forced to incur all costs for repairs since Hyundais trickery (erroneous advertising) has forced me to, especially in a tough economy.
The Hyundai Entourage minivan has been a good, reliable vehicle. We have had only a couple of very minor repairs done to it in the 10 years that we have owned it. The Entourage has a very good amount of power. It is never sluggish off the starting line. It is also an attractive looking vehicle. The thing that I liked most about this van over the other we considered purchasing is the price. It was the most affordable of all that we considered purchasing. My least favorite feature on this van is the radio. Sometimes the volume control doesnt work. If I tap the dash, I can usually get it to adjust the volume. I am only sorry that Hyundai not longer makes the Entourage as I would definitely purchase another one.
2005 Hyundai xg350 has been back at Hyundai numerous times for air bag lite on problem since car was new. After the warranty expired we decided to just forget about it, enough is enough. And the lite is still on.
I have a 2012 Sonata that had less than 80,000 miles on it and the engine completely blew. I found out that my cars motor was recalled so I contacted Hyundai and they brought my car into the shop. They paid for my new motor and even for my rental car for the weeks I was without my car which is very generous and I am grateful for, however the customer service since has been terrible. My car was taken into the shop in September and was returned in November. I was told November 7th that if I sent in a picture of a monthly statement and proof of registration they would reimburse me for the months of September and October because my car was in the shop those months. I tried calling the number of the representative I was given 2-3 times a week just to get an update with no answer once. I emailed the customer service line which took 20 days to respond saying the sources of what I turned in (the exact items they asked for) were not good enough for the reimbursement to go through. It is now December 9th. I STILL have not heard from my representative and still have not heard if I will even be getting a reimbursement with what I sent in. Its just very frustrating. In addition when they replaced my motor they also replaced my BRAND NEW starter as well and will not reimburse me for that even though it was only a couple days old. Will never buy a Hyundai again.
Respected Sir. I am one of your customer Sandeep **. I am working with **. As in service class I had dream of buying Hyundai I10. On 1st Dec 2010, finally I manage to purchase I10. On 3rd Sept, I met with an accident and there was some problem in my car. So, I went to one of your authorized center in Chandigarh (Carizma Hyundai) on 4th Sept. as per them loss was around Rs70,000. As there was breakage of head and they committed me itll be rectified with in 15days. They had provided me with Job Card no: **, Car No: **. It took two months to arrange head. After 2 months, they called me and confirmed we have to put crunch shaft which will cost 30000. So total amount comes to be 100000.
Called the la quinta car dealer to have my car serviced, and the service rep. said did not have any record of any service there. I have a invoice showing that I did, 12/21/12. r/o no. ** . After our conversation, she said that I would call at a later date to get a time for the service, and had to come in so she could get the info. The next few days I was leaving for Conroe, TX since I have been here for two weeks. I called, Wiesner auto group, I also had the car serviced at Wiesner auto, in Conroe TX. and went on a recorder and left a message, that I wanted to get a appointment to have the car serviced. I have still waiting for a call back, I purchased this car, from a very good friend that owns the dealership in Temecula CA. thinking that this was a good buy. I am now having second thoughts, about service? Also owning a Hyundai?
I bought Hyundai Sonata 2011 less than 3year. Now upon reach 90,000 miles it started giving me problem. Each month different problem until 100,000 miles then the main engine pack off. Please stay away from HYUNDAI products. I and my beloved ones will never go it Hyundai product anymore.
I would like to highlight that I have a very bad experience with the quality of tyres Verna is using. Verna was one the cars I always wanted and finally one year back I bought it. However, I did not know that it uses some bad quality tyres. I was travelling from Indore to Pune on 2nd June 2019, when the tyre (Front Left side) of my car (Hyundai verna SX (O)) got burst and I had near escape from death. My spouse got hurt on her head and eyes. I was driving at a speed of maximum 50kmph, as it was a single road, between Rajgurunagar and Chakan. The Front Tyre (left side) suddenly got burst. On contacting the service management of Hyundai and Hankok (tyre manufacturer/dealer), they said it is a cut on the side wall and its not a fault of tyre and denied my request of replacing it. My point is such expensive and big cars who can run at around 140kmph, should have such bad quality tyres and risk life of the customers. OR, should they provide any better reliable and trusted brand. For instance, even I say, there was an impact on tyre, should the tyre easily gets burst. I have another car - Chevrolet Beat and used Bridgestone, MRF for last 10 years not. Have gone on potholes on highways on speed as fast as 100kmp, but never had this experience. This clearly shows the quality of tyres.
I have a 2019 Veloster with the Silver Coverage Plan which include electrical repairs. My car would not start after just parking it less than 5 minutes earlier. I had it towed to Happy Hyundai in Oak Lawn, IL and two days later I was informed by Hyundai that my car needed a lock cylinder and ignition switch but it wasnt covered by the warranty because it appeared to the mechanic that force was administered but in the same breath the mechanic told me to use a screw driver to start my vehicle. This Hyundai Dealership and manufacturers warranty are unethical. Im sure a recall will surface about this same issue but until then, customers will be held responsible.
I have a 2009 Sonata with about 55,000 miles on it. I went to start my engine to go to work on a Monday morning and nothing would work. So, I called a tow truck and had it towed to the dealership. This was when I found out that Hyundai has zero customer service. I had to call them every day for 2 weeks. They would never call me, and the only thing they would say is, we havent started yet, were waiting for an investigator from corporate to come in and look at it. I finally got someone to tell me what the problem was. They said there was an oil leak and that the motor seized. Another week goes by and they said that it was my fault. I asked why was it my fault, I did not build the engine. They said that its company policy and they quoted me $16,696 to fix it. The brand new car was cheaper. The reason I bought this car in the first place was for this amazing warranty they claim so much, which I found out is one of the worst in coverages around. I can guarantee out of all my friends and family, no one will ever buy that crappy brand again.
I stumbled upon this website when reading about tires, and was surprised to see virtually every car company with such horrendous reviews. Then I realized its merely a sounding board for angry people with car troubles. I just wanted to share a little about my little 2013 Elantra GT. I bought it new, have done all maintenance in my garage, have used nothing but full synthetic oil and Hyundai brand parts (filters, etc to avoid warranty issues), and in return? Its been hands down the best car Ive ever owned. Nothing has failed in the first 3 years, 40,000 miles. No car Ive ever owned has accomplished that. It rides like its brand new, no squeaks, no rattles, no nothing. Comfortable as can be, averages 32 in the city, 36 on the highway. Ive owned many compacts in my life, none have come even close to this level of ride quality. Simply put, we love the car. Its our first Hyundai, and we would buy another in a heartbeat. And basically, this is merely a message to take everything you read online with a grain of salt. Including my review. Occasionally, youre going to get a car thats awful. I had one. 2012 Impala, kept it 9 months. It went back to the garage under warranty 11 times in those 9 months. Eventually, you just have to make a judgment call. Do you keep a car thats been nothing but problems? Or do you try something else. We now own a Hyundai and a Nissan and have been thrilled with them. Will I ever buy another Chevrolet? Sure! I just got a lemon. It happens. It totally stinks, but it happens.
The headliner was damaged during a replacement of the sunglass holder recall. It has never been correct since. At approx. 54k, the engine failed and Hyundai replaced with an inferior short block vs. a long block engine, the rear seal was defective and had to be replaced, the engine protector plate fell off less than two weeks later. I have never felt safe in this car and sure enough 3 days ago, after going over NO huge bumps or hitting any pot holes, I came outside and the first 1.5 inches of the wheel bearing assembly was laying on the ground by the wheel. The tow truck driver said they overtorqued something when they replaced the engine. Not only will I never purchase another Hyundai, but I will recommend no one does either. After owning a Honda Civic for 14 years and 375k, this vehicle is a driving time bomb waiting to kill you!!
I have had quality roadside assistance with every luxury brand - BMW, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, and now Hyundai. I would give Hyundai an F - unbelievably bad response time, client interaction, and roadside assistance partners. Wow, I let myself get talked into this 2015 Genesis V-8 and will never buy another Hyundai product again, period. One problem after the next. Now my high-tech battery shot craps. Ive owned the car for 8 months and bought it brand new. RUN away from this brand. They are trying to play in a league they are not equipped to play in.
I have never, in my life, been treated so rudely. Their customer service rep hung up on me. I thought she had all the information that she needed and gone to find out. The next day when I was expecting my paperwork to be where it was supposed to, it was not. So when I called back the next day, upset that my paperwork had not been transferred, the rep on the phone was once again rude. The rep promised my paperwork would be there in 1-2 hours, and it was never done on time. Not only is this now costing me money, but I was treated horribly as well. And with an interest payment of 20% on a car, they should invest money in training their reps.
Had to replace back brake every few months and one day while driving heard a noise and lost control of the car, had the car tow to the shop and was told my the back axle had come detached from the subframe due to rust and could not be repaired... Called Hyundai and they and complain about it the other day. Someone from Hyundai of America call me saying they want to buy my car back for 500.
WHY I WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER HYUNDAI / KIA. (With sincere apologies to anyone I ever influenced into purchasing one). The primary reason I will never own another Hyundai or Kia, or recommend anyone else ever own one, is that they, in spite of their supposed great quality, are inferior products!! Please understand that I do NOT consider this the fault of the dealerships or dealership service departments with whom I have interacted; they have all been very professional, competent, and friendly. This comes down to the fact that the basic cars are junk from the factory and overall quality of the manufacturing is extremely deficient. To wit:I purchased my first Hyundai Sonata, a 2006 with a V-6 engine, in August 2006. It had ten miles on the odometer primarily because I took it for a 2 mile test drive before I bought it. I loved the ride, handling, and everything about the car. When I bought the car, fortunately I negotiated a 100,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty as part of the purchase. In addition, I purchased the 5-year hard-simonizing that also treated the interior fabric. I was planning on driving the car for many years and have regularly maintained it with that in mind.I very carefully broke-in the engine according to the recommendations in the owners manual driving it at a certain rpm for so many miles, etc. It now has just over 117,000 miles. Much of my driving during that time has been highway driving. I have faithfully changed the oil and filters every 5,000 miles. I flushed the engine coolant as recommended as well as had the transmission serviced as recommended. Most of this has been performed by the local Hyundai dealership or by one in Dayton when the Richmond, IN dealer from whom I originally purchased the car went out of business. I have the receipts to prove my ongoing care of the car. Each time I had the car serviced, the dealer did a multi-point inspection of the vehicle and reported all known issues to me. For the first year or so, I was very happy with the car, and recommended Hyundais to others. (As noted, for that I now apologize to them.)Following are the primary issues that I have had with my 2006 Hyundai: 20,500 miles, 11 months after purchase, left front door armrest had to be replaced because the first one cracked, making a popping noise (warranty replacement). 25,500 miles, 1 year 2 months after purchase, noted that A/C system does not seem to be putting out cold air properly, an ongoing problem that has never been resolved to my satisfaction. Dealer continues to claim that system checks out properly; air in this Sonata is not as cool or does not cool as quickly as the second Sonata described below. 25,500 miles, left front door trim backing must be replaced because it is cracked which continued to cause the popping noise described above (warranty replacement). 33,700 miles, 1 year 10 months after purchase, I complained that at times the drivers side window had a scraping noise as it went up and down. (No resolution at this time.)55,400 miles, 3+ years after purchase, both drivers side front seat switch and power mirror switch were inoperable and had to be replaced. (warranty replacement). 61,600 miles, 4 years 1 month after purchase, coil assembly on engine cylinder 1 had to be replaced (warranty replacement). 63,900 miles, 4 years 2 months after purchase, coil assembly on engine cylinders 3 and 5 had to be replaced (warranty replacement). 78,000 miles, 5 years 4 months after purchase, power steering system dampner fell apart and had to be completely replaced (warranty replacement). 82,500 miles, 5 years 8 months after purchase, A/C compressor had to be replaced. In addition, the drivers side window (complained about earlier but not repaired at that time) RF regulator had to be replaced because now not only was there a scraping noise when the window was lowered but also the window would not come back up without help. It was also determined that my headlights were noticeably dimming because the positive cable assembly needed to be replaced but that was expensive and would not be covered under warranty since it was not broken or had not caused the lights to stop working. (Warranty replacement on A/C compressor and window RF regulator; headlights continue to this day to dim noticeably when engine slows down).87,000 miles, 6 years after purchase, replaced drivers side rear door latch and actuator assembly because auto door lock stopped working (warranty replacement). 101,000 miles, 7 years after purchase, and just beyond the warranty period, the alternator had to be replaced (out of pocket expense). Headlights still dim noticeably when the engine slows down.116,500 miles, the engine temperature and interior heater started acting up in a strange way. At first I thought it was a failed engine thermostat which is kind of how it was acting. So I replaced the thermostat. (Even the dealer mechanic later agreed that is the first thing he would have replaced.) In removing the housing that contained the thermostat, one of the three bolts broke off completely just as I was beginning to put torque on the head. This is supposedly a grade-8 bolt. I doubt it! I have never had a thermostat cover bolt break off in over 50 years of driving and working on cars and I have changed a few thermostats in that time. So what should have been a 30 minute job took half-a-day to remove the broken bolt which then required removing more of the hoses than would have otherwise been needed in order to access the broken bolt. Thank goodness it broke off such that I was able to remove it with vice-grips and thus did not have to drill it out to use an EZ-Out, which would have required a lot more time.117,000 miles, the Hyundai is now at the dealer. The dealer mechanic found the reason why the heating system on my Hyundai with the V-6 engine with only 117,000 miles was acting strangely. It had two warped heads. The dealer has no explanation for the problem. The engine had to be replaced. I was unable to purchase a re-manufactured engine, much less a new engine, because Hyundai stopped manufacturing or stocking needed replacement engine parts over a year ago, thus the necessary parts to properly re-manufacture an engine, much less purchase a new engine, are no longer available. Therefore the only solutions were to replace the heads and hope that the current engine block was not damaged, or install a used engine from a salvage yard. The local Hyundai dealer (Wetzel Hyundai in Richmond, IN) has just finished installing a used engine with 78,000 miles on it, 1 year, 12,000 mile warranty. Out of pocket cost - $4,300 with a $200 coupon or it would have been $4500. If you wish to consider the above repairs routine maintenance that is your choice. I do not. I consider it poor manufacturing quality for which I never plan to own another Hyundai or Kia. If you are not convinced by the above related experiences, read on.During the first year of ownership, I loved everything about my 2006 Hyundai Sonata, so much so that I made the mistake of buying a 2007 Sonata for my wife, to replace the 1997 Plymouth Breeze with over 230,000 miles she was driving. I purchased the 2007 Sonata used. It had been owned by one of the salesmen at the dealership whose wife drove it from Richmond to Indianapolis and back each work day. She got pregnant and wanted an SUV by the time the baby arrived, so the salesman was selling the car as part of a trade-in with the dealer for whom he worked at the time. The 2007 has a 2.0 Liter 4 cylinder engine; I purchased the car with 7,275 miles on it. While I did have it hard-simonized with the additional interior protection, I did not purchase an additional warranty I just went with the standard Hyundai warranty of 60,000 miles/7 year bumper-to-bumper and 100,000 miles/10 year power train. When it was still new, everything worked fine. It now has 84,560 miles on it. Just like the 2006 Sonata above, I have had one dealer or the other perform all of the recommended maintenance on the vehicle on a timely basis. I have all of the maintenance invoices to prove it for both cars. In addition, I washed them, or had them washed, somewhat regularly. I took them through the car wash on a regular basis, particularly in the winter after a snowstorm, and always added the underbody wash as well, to wash off the road salt to some degree.Below is a listing of all the things that have gone wrong with that car one continuous stream of ridiculous failures after another due to poor manufacturing quality:24,500 miles, 2 years 2 months after purchase, power seat control switch had to be replaced because of a short in the switch (warranty replacement). 24,500 miles, 2 years 2 months after purchase the rear brake caliper on the passenger side seized, causing me to have to replace the caliper and rotor as well as brake pads on that wheel. No warranty considered normal wear and tear. 29,000 miles, 2 years 6 months after purchase, mirror switch had to be replaced because short in switch caused both mirrors to adjust intermittently (warranty replacement). 35,000 miles, 3 years after purchase, en route to North Carolina in August, the A/C stopped working. A/C compressor totally locked up and had to be replaced (Johnson Hyundai of Cary, NC treated us very well) (warranty replacement).46,600 miles, 4 years after purchase, mirror switch had to be replaced again because of a short in the switch causing the powered mirrors to be totally inoperable (warranty replacement). 68,000 miles, 5 years after purchase, door hanger handle on front passenger side broke off and had to be replaced. (Parts - $30, self-replaced). 70,700 miles, 6 years 4 months after purchase, engine oil pan rusted out and had to be replaced. This was not under warranty; considered to be routine maintenance. (In over 50 years of driving including several cars for over 200,000 miles, I have never, ever had to replace an engine oil pan before.)73,800 miles, 6 years 7 months after purchase, the transmission pan rusted out and had to be replaced. This was also not under warranty; considered to be routine maintenance. (Again I say, in over 50 years of driving, several cars for over 200,000 miles, I have never, ever had to replace a transmission oil pan before. Remember, too, that in winter I regularly run the cars through the car wash to include the underbody wash to get off the road salt and grime underneath the car.) I wrote to Hyundai corporate about the two pans rusting out; the only response I received was a email reply that essentially said, We are sorry you are unhappy with our product. In addition to the specific instances at certain dates and mileages noted above, there are other problems with the 2007 Sonata listed below for which I do not have a corresponding date or mileage but which are ongoing issues: Power mirrors continue to be problematic; no one seems to be able to fix them properly. Now out of warranty so are now essentially manual adjust set and do not touch! Seek function on the radio does not work on AM and only marginally on FM. A little annoying when traveling and attempting to find radio stations en route. Neither sun visor stays in place; currently being held up by bungee cords wrapped around the sun visors and the door hanger handles so that they do not inadvertently drop down into the drivers vision. Because of the embedded courtesy lights in the visors, dealer replacement for each one is in the hundreds of dollars. First the drivers side broke and then a few months later the passenger side malfunctioned. The powered door lock on the passengers side rear door works only intermittently not tied to weather or temperature or any such phenomenon. Half the time it works and the other half it does not. Recently, the drivers side front door has begun to act up on occasion and fails to lock. For over a year now, the cruise control set button typically requires that it be pushed several times before it will engage. I must assume that one of these days it will stop working and I will no longer have cruise control without another expensive replacement/repair.Recently, when replacing the front brake pads and rotors, one of the bolts holding the bracket that holds the caliper in position was extremely difficult to remove. It turns out the bolt was somewhat cross-threaded. Since these rotors had never been replaced until now, it means that the bolt was cross-threaded at the factory during initial installation. My guess is that I will have to soon replace the caliper on that side as it did not easily compress during the repair. I simply do not have the extra money or time needed to fix the ongoing problems, so my wife (especially) will just have to put up with the inconveniences for who knows how long.Brakes: I have had to replace brake pads, and rotors on occasion, much more frequently than I think should be the case. However, I blame that more on our intrusive government controlling our lives in order to protect us from ourselves than on Hyundai. Under the old system of asbestos brake pads, I routinely got 60,000 miles or more out of a set of brake pads (as well as a set of tires). With the Sonatas, I am lucky to get 40,000 miles usually more like 30,000 miles out of a set of brake pads. The only complaint I have with respect to Hyundai is that rotors, when needed to be replaced which also seems to be more frequent than should be the case seem to cost twice as much (from one of the local auto parts stores) than rotors for other brands of automobiles with some notable exceptions. Also, of late, I have begun to have additional incidences of the brake caliper pistons beginning to stick and freeze up meaning I will soon be replacing brake caliper assemblies.I will tell you that I emailed this letter to Hyundai Customer Care and told them that I would give them a week to respond before I sent it to everyone on my email lists and published it as widely as possible over the internet. Customer care did call me a few days later. All they could offer was a case number that indicated that this would be routed to the appropriate offices for consideration on future models. They offered no assistance regarding any of my issues with my Hyundais nor was there any hint of doing so in the future. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why they wasted my time and theirs with a phone call. Basically they called to inform me of the case number which is useless since they have no intention of doing anything. The lady who called me obviously had no authority or power to do anything. When I suggested that she put me through to the President of the company, she told me that there was no phone number for the corporate office although I was welcome to contact them by mail. According to her, not even Hyundai Customer Service has a number for the corporate offices in California. A couple of weeks later, another Customer Care Representative, Brian, called me. Again, it was a waste of both of our times. He did offer to send me some discount coupons for the needed repairs on the 2007 sun visors. I guess since that did not satisfy me and I plan to broadcast this letter as far and wide as possible, I never received any discount coupons.Once again, (as stated above with respect to the oil and transmission pans on the 2007 Hyundai) their primary response was, I am sorry you are unhappy with our product. In essence, their response is, We really dont care about our customers, we just try to make them think we do! They evidently have learned what P.T. Barnum proclaimed many years ago, There is a sucker born every minute. What he was saying is that companies like Hyundai dont need to care about customers like me because there are plenty more where I came from. I just hope you are not one of them like I was. My bottom line is DO NOT BUY A HYUNDAI!!! THE QUALITY OF THEIR PRODUCT, LIKE THEIR CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICE, IS PATHETIC AT BEST AND ESSENTIALLY NON-EXISTENT. LET THE BUYER BEWARE!!!Please feel free to forward this to anyone and everyone you know so they too can be forewarned before it is too late for them unless you are trying to get even with someone for what he or she did to you.
Bought a brand new 2017 Hyundai Tucson eco, I only had it for a few months and its been in the shop more than I have been driving it. All types of problems with the electrical, it is at the shop at the moment I am typing this while mechanics are scratching their heads to figure out what is wrong with it and how to fix it. I called Hyundai corporate they said they would return my call, You think they did. What a joke. They have no concerns about the safety issues with this car even though I tell them that the windshield wipers stick two to three inches from take off on the windshield. AC sounds like Gremlins are about to attack you coming from the vents. Transmission drives and shifts like somebody that does not know how to drive a stick shift when this is an automatic vehicle. Gas gauge sticks even though its full and you cant put any more in it. The gas gauge will read from a half tank to 3/4 of a tank full until you hit a bump. Including with the issues the dash lights dim and brighten by themself. This car should have yellow lemons painted all over it along with every car that Hyundai puts out especially since corporate is treating their customers this way, not a very good ethic on gaining your customers Trust or to get repeat customers. I really dont understand how this company is in business. I guess thats why our government had to do a bail out on their **. My experience alone it has been a real shady experience.
I have had issues with the transmission not shifting properly when pressing on the accelerator. I have taken it back to the dealership several times and am always told that it is their new transmission and is normal. Finally, they said they had a reset they could do for it, this seemed to help for about a week. After this things got worse, it not only went back to the chugging with the transmission but also lost power when accelerating from a stopped position (like turning in front of oncoming traffic). I would pump the accelerator for it to finally go. I filed a claim with Hyundai, finally got a call from them and was told to take to dealership, of course they found nothing wrong, everything is working to “their” standard, and that it’s just their new transmissions. I said I had another vehicle (Not Hyundai) that has this type of transmission and it doesn’t do this, she said, Well. This is Hyundai Transmission. I am beyond Frustrated and Disappointed with Hyundai products and Customer Service! I will never buy Hyundai and will and have recommend everyone to NOT buy Hyundai!!!
I leased a Genesis 20 months ago. It took four months to get the lease payment correct even with dealer involvement. Then 20 months later, I get a notification that my payment is late (of which it was not and verified in my bank account) and that I owe $100 more than the payment I made on time? When I call Hyundai Finance, they tell me that is was because in June (its now Dec) my sales tax went up. They never said a word or sent anything to us in mail, email, call... nothing. We have been making the original payment all along without a problem. Six month later you send me a past due amount, tell me my tax went up over 5% six month ago and that I have been making the wrong payment? How is this possible. Finally, I ask to tell me the specifics of what tax and they have no idea and have the city I live in wrong - even though its the same as when I purchased the car? They tell me they dont have to notify me and maybe I will get a call back in three business days from a tax person if not call back.
I had my inner CV boots replaced which were under warranty. After Hyundais service department fixed the inner CV boots, my car broke down about 2.5 weeks later (it seemed like a transmission problem). I had to have the car towed. They claimed they fixed something, without giving me any detailed information and it broke down again 1 week later (I had the same exact feeling of the transmission when it broke down, where I had to have it towed again - this is very frustrating and is extremely dangerous! The service manager informed me that the axle was broken on the first time it was in and it was fixed. The second time around I received numerous answers on what was wrong. They have claimed to fix the accelerator now, but there are several new problems. I did not have one issue with my car before taking it in to Hyundai for service. Now, we cannot figure what is wrong exactly because the computer seems to be malfunctioning. I have had the spark plugs and wires replaced.
I bought a brand new 2006 Hyundai Sonata. Regular oil changes were done. I had to take the car to the dealer early on because the ESC light kept coming on. They had to replace it due to a recall. Late last year, I had to take the car to the dealer again because the lights all kept dying at the same time. I read somewhere that it was a bad switch somewhere.About 3 months ago, I took my car back to the dealership because it was lurching at around 45 mph. They looked at the transmission and told me everything was fine, it checked out. Then about a month ago, I took it back to the dealer because the lights all burned out at the same time again. They checked it and said it was just the light bulbs. So they replaced all the lights in the rear for 45 dollars, gave me a printout of my visit and said they checked the fluids, etc. and everything looked good.Last Saturday, I was heading out to get the oil changed. The check engine light came on and there was a slight knocking noise. After the oil change, I took it directly to the dealership. I got a call from Adam on Wednesday telling me that they were going to have to take the motor apart to check it out. He said he needed my permission to do so but also asked if I had all my maintenance records. He said that if they get in to the engine and see that theres gunk in the motor, thats a sign of poor maintenance and it wouldnt be covered by the warranty.I told him I had the majority of my records. He said the tear down of the engine would cost $360 and I would be responsible for that fee if they find that this problem wasnt covered by the warranty. I gave him the approval to tear down the engine, sure that they would find the problem to be from something covered under warranty. He just called me this morning and left a voicemail that the problem is maintenance related. I should call Valvoline or my insurance company because the problem is not covered under warranty and a new engine is going to cost me $4,500. He said the engine was starved for oil.I think they are trying whatever they can to get out of honoring the 10-year/100,000 mile warranty.
I purchased a 2013 Elantra in July 2012. I like a lot of Hyundai owners got the notice of the MPG error. It was nice that Hyundai was attempting to compensate the consumer. I now have nearly 46,000 miles and the car will be 2 years old this July. When I purchase the Elantra , Hyundai advertised 40 MPG, highway mid 30s city. Within 6 months it dropped to 32 MPG. My Elantra gets 22 to 24 MPG. I think its time to get a lawyer. I wouldnt recommended a Hyundai to anyone. They sold me that car knowing it didnt get the gas mileage they advertised. Cant trust them, dont buy one!!!!!! .
I purchased a new Hyundai Elantra 1 year ago, drove just over 20,000 highway miles; and already the tires need to be replaced! When I bought the car, all the salesman (Murdock Hyundai in Murray, Utah) could do was say how dependable and reliable everything on the Elantra is now. He was right, except for the tires!
For 5 years, I had my payment automatically deducted by Hyundai Finance for my car. In December, my balance was $59 and they deducted the whole $279. I called and they stopped the auto deduction and they would send my refund within 30 days, which it took all 30 days. At the end of January, I noticed they took out another $279 so I called. They said the auto payment was turned off and they were not sure why it was deducted. They said they would refund it but it would take another 30 days and assured me the auto pay was deactivated. Lo and behold another $279 was deducted from my account today and when I called, bottom line is it will take another 30 days to get my money and nothing they can do to refund sooner.
As a loyal customer of Hyundai Vehicles that currently owns 4 Hyundai Cars I am extremely disappointed in the service received from the service department. My daughter is a college student in the area away from home. When purchasing her vehicle I added all the Hyundai Warranties offered to me in order to secure her safety at all times. Her vehicle was taken in April 2016 for repairs and replacement of a few items. She left there with not 1 item corrected. I called several times and was given several excuses. One weekend in May 2016 I drove 5 hours to address the issue in person. I was told by Curvin (Advisor) and Mike (Manager) that the issue would be resolved. Well June rolled around no action. I called the GM of this location to assist in the matter. Well he never returned my call. The only thing he did was send my message back to the service managerAfter contacting the warranty department myself I learned that Hyundai never requested the approval until June 30, 2016. Well here we are in July 2016. Still waiting on the items to be ordered. This will be my last Hyundai and I would not recommend anyone take their vehicle here. Since they were not making extra money off of me, my daughter service was not a priority at all. In 37 years this is the worst experience I have ever had...
When we purchased our 2020 Venue we had no idea there were no parts. We had to wait so long for our snow tires that we got into an accident. The car has been at the autobody for over a month because Precision Hyundai says they have no parts. Heaven only knows when we will get our car returned or how long we will have to wait to get the snow tires installed. They were wonderful until we purchased the car. Then no service. I would never purchase another Hyundai.
The front panels forming the front end is opening up and the whole front seems loose. If I push on the fog light area it closes back up. This has happened to both sides. Im wondering if anyone else has this problem.
They have held my title for 4+ months with no resolution! Ridiculous and terrible customer service. I am now stuck in the middle of trying to get this title to my new creditor because they have hung up and wont respond to my new creditor. They hang up on them. Despite the address on the back of the check, the letter, and subsequent 2 letters petitioning for them to send the title from April of 2020 nothing has still been done. Even upon contacting them today, via phone, they say its stuck, Ill send an email to my supervisor and the title division to get the title sent. So ridiculous. Hyundai should be aware, that at least for me, this will keep me from ever using their finance arm again and as many of their deals are if you purchase through them itll definitely drive me to another brand.
I have had this car for 14 days. When I bought it the salesman could not get the nav to show anything but one major interstate. I trusted (HUGE MISTAKE) that the dealership would make it right. Now they tell me it has to be set at 150 feet to show street names. If youre on the highway going 60 mph - or even back roads at 40 - you wont have enough time to make the correct turns. Had they been honest about the severe limitations of the cars navigation system, I would have NEVER bought it. It would have been a deal breaker. I feel the dealership beginning to be very sleazy about this: Hyundai Great Lakes in Streetsboro, OH. Theyre basically telling me tough luck.I will not take the car back; am preparing to call my lawyer and will scream to the high heavens about this. I was tricked and lied to by this dealership. JUST DONT BUY A HYUNDAI... SEEMS LOTS OF THE DEALERS ARE SLIMY!!
Having recently moved to New York State, I am required to submit a copy of the title of my vehicle in order to transfer the registration. Sounds simple? Call Hyundai, put in the formal request and receive a copy of the title. Life should be so easy. This process started just before Thanksgiving. Here I am now on the verge of having my car impounded as the 30 day registration requirement for the state is fast approaching. Hyundai on the other hand, cant seem to get me my document after several hours of phone calls, numerous calls, trips to the registry and time out of work. The finance representatives are rude, talk over me and have lied on a number of occasions. So what am I to do? If they dont send the document, I cant register. If I dont register, I lose my car, get fined or have issues with the law. I have never, ever, in my 52 years been so frustrated, disgusted and downright angry as to how they have treated me, their lack of concern and inability to get me a document, that in todays digital world, should only take minutes, not weeks and going on months. The representatives of this company who have deliberately lied to me, put me off and disrespect me are definitely in the wrong line of work. Customer service? OMG... they dont know what the words even mean. I need help before my car is towed away and I lose my job. Why? Because I followed Hyundais process and protocol. Because I had faith in their people... because I try to do the right thing. I guess a persons word no long means a thing.
I purchased my third Sonata, a 2012, just four months ago. I purchased my first two from a dealership near my home in Houston but my third Sonata was purchased in Baytown, Tx. After only a little over 4000 miles, this Sonata left me stranded in Austin, Texas with what I was told was a failed wheel bearing. Fortunately, the wheel did not come off and I made it to a safe area. I felt that being a loyal Hyundai consumer, that Hyundai would help to address this (now third issue) with my car. The car had to go in for service for a back brake plate rubbing against the rotor the first week of ownership.I am having great difficulty getting anyone at Hyundai or the dealership to acknowledge that this Sonata has inherent issues that would warrant replacement of the vehicle. I no longer have confidence or feel safe driving this car. I even question as to whether I might have been sold a car that was unsafe to drive. When the car was towed to the dealership in Austin for repair, they first told me that they did not know for certain what was wrong with it - only that it was something serious and I would be encouraged not to drive it even across town. Many assurances of help and complete satisfaction - and none followed though.
2014 Hyundai Tucson - We purchased this vehicle November 2017. Less than 8 months later, on July 8th, 2018, our vehicles engine caught on fire while driving on the interstate. There was NO warning sign prior to this. maintenance was kept up with as scheduled. Hyundai Tuscons are DANGEROUS. Please do not purchase a Hyundai vehicle. They are not recalling vehicles as they should be, and someone is going to end up dying over their engine problems.
I just bought a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. The steering wheel locks (and clamps down electronically where you have to be strong to turn wheel to turn key) and I cant start the car. I need another person to turn the steering wheel because it locks so hard. I have been stranded twice where I needed help. Hyundai wont stand behind fixing it. They say it is the way it is designed. Something should be done about it. I had it in service a few times. I have a car that will not run. And when it does, it has the roughest ride of any car I ever had, especially on the freeways. I am 87 years old and between the rough ride and now this starting problem, Im very upset that I have to fight to get my money back. This should be a recall item. What do we do? Doesnt implied warranty state that I will get a car that I can start and that I wouldnt be stranded in 105 deg. heat like I did? It is a serious health and safety Issue.
Paint job on 2010 Elantra is terrible. Scratches on the least little things. Is there a recall on paint jobs for these cars?
The Hyundai Equus is a full size ultra-luxury auto that does everything at the highest levels. The ride is like floating on a cloud, 429 HP packs a punch, lots of leg room and trunk space and the car is beautiful on the outside. Cost is substantially less than any vehicle with similar features. Home run!!!
I have had four Hyundais. Two now have had the engines go out. My 2012 Sonata Hybrid and my 2015 Elantra GLS. Ticking in the engine turns into a blown engine. They have only released recalls on the Sonata several years after I had to sell it.
I have blood cancer & MS. My 2011 Hyundai Sonata motor burnt up without any lights coming on, no warning. Please pray for me. Im on disability & need a car for treatments & Dr appt. Im so devastated.
I have a 2009 Hyundai Sonata. It has about 140,000 miles on it and is admittedly well outside of any warranty. However, I believe this case requires an exception. About a year ago, the paint started chipping off my car. Not little scratches but fairly large spots. I contacted Hyundai who said it was outside the warranty, and I let it go. Last Saturday, during a hard rain, the paint literally fell off my car. My husband drove to Columbus that day, and when he arrived, the paint had vanished from the entire roof. Patches came off of the hood as well. And the trunk is beginning to peel. I am told this is a delamination issue related to metal paint preparation. While I realize that the car is outside the warranty, I stand by my statement that no matter how many miles a car has on it, the paint should not come off in the rain! Hyundai refuses to even refer the case to a supervisor.. Normal wear and tear happens, and I accept that. But this is clearly a factory defect, and I think Hyundai should be responsible for fixing it. I am interested in finding others with similar experience to approach Hyundai together.
I purchased a Hyundai Genesis Coupe from Parkway Hyundai (Wilmington) in 2014. I was informed by the salesmen that offered me the extended warranty that I would receive coverage for 100,000 miles. Not up to 100,00 miles, but good for 100,000 miles. Huge difference, as the car had nearly 50k miles on it already when it was purchased. I made it very clear to the salesman that I needed coverage for 100k miles. I would have purchased a brand new car, not a used Hyundai with only 50k mile warranty if this had been explained to me correctly, and now the dealership is leaving me out to dry with a car that is not drivable, a higher car payment than what I would have had with a brand new car, (because the warranty is factored into it), and they are feeding me a load of BS.I do not recommend ANYONE, even my worst enemy to purchase from Parkway Hyundai, and also the salesman by the name of Mitchell was very distant to me after I purchased the car. I would drive all the way to Wilmington from out of town and stop by to get an oil change and he would give me blank stares and would not even greet me. What kind of customer service is that? To be nice to me long enough to sell me a car and then treat me like chopped liver after the deal is done. I let that slide because he is a younger guy, I am probably the first he ever sold a car to and he is probably long gone now if he treated someone else the same way, but yeah, I am done with Parkway Hyundai for good either way. They can forget me or anyone I know ever purchasing a vehicle from them ever again.
I purchased a 2012 Sonata (loaner car), absolutely love the vehicle. I took it in for 1st oil change and they advised the tires needed to be rotated, returned to work and was notified by co-worker that they had noticed a bubble in the front passenger tire that morning. I went outside to take a look and sure enough, the front passenger tire had bubble (since tires had been rotated approx. 30 minutes earlier). I called the dealership and was told tires were not covered under warranty. I explained that I had just had the tires rotated and no one in the service dept even acknowledged the bubble. I feel very unsafe driving this vehicle at this point and do not think that I should have to spend money on a tire that was obviously damaged when I bought the vehicle. I have called the dealership service manager numerous times as well as the general manager and have even emailed the gm about 8 times and no response from any of them. I called Hyundai customer support thinking that would help. I was just notified by them that the reason the dealership didnt call me back was because I gave a different name than what the vehicle was purchased under and they could find no records. I guess a phone call to me to ask more questions was asking too much. I have zero confidence in that dealership or the customer support team. Obviously, once they get your money, you as a person does not matter to that dealership. Oh, and might I add this is my 4th Hyundai to buy. You would think a repeat customer would mean something. I can guarantee I will never do business with Texan Hyundai in Rosenberg, Texas again.
I purchased a new 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT in January 2014. I bought the Titanium package with my car and about two months later I hit a pothole and ruined my tire. I filed a claim and they not only didnt pay the $200 but never even responded other than to say they needed more documentation (which I submitted). This service is not worth the energy to get a reimbursement! Additionally, my car was advertised as getting 30-39 MPG. I havent averaged over 21 MPG in the past year and I have only 8,000 miles on my car of which 70% are highway miles. Ive tried to deal with this disparity through my dealership (Rogers Hyundai) and have tried contacting Hyundai directly with no response. There should be some compensation for such a huge difference in promised mileage.
I purchased a brand new 2012 Hyundai Genesis. The transmission blown at 43000 miles and they had no idea why. Now at 71, 000 the engine had blown and again they have no idea why. I am so dissatisfied. The kbb value of this car is horrible. They have fixed the transmission under warranty and will be fixing the engine, however who is to say that it wont happen again especially since they have no idea why the both blew in the first place. SO DISAPPOINTED IN THIS company.
I own a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. On September 29, 2021, I had my oil changes. I was a thousand miles early but the oil light had come on. I asked the service station to check why my car was lagging when driving. Ive been going to the same place for years to get my car oiled. Not a Hyundai dealership. He told me that my engine is ruined due to the engine burning oil, the tip of the oil dipstick was burnt. I left to go home and my car died. I had it towed to the closest Hyundai Dealership which is the dealership in Palatine, IL.The next day I went to the dealership and dealt with Kyle ** (Im not completely sure that is his last name). Kyle is at the front desk of the service area. Kyle told me its probably going to take a month and a half & I should rent a car and Hyundai will pay $40 a day. I rented a car from September 30- November 1. On Monday, October 7, 2021 Kyle texted me and said they are looking for Update/recall 953 ECM, & said the recall was not done so my car does not qualify for the warranty. He took less than 30 seconds to tell me my car was trash & he’s just telling me what he’s been told & that I should contact Consumer Affairs!!! It wasn’t a big deal to him!! I take very good care of my car, I have all receipts for the service I have had done on my car from the places Ive had my car worked on. Needless to say I was so upset and not happy with that answer, my car has 68,000 miles on it.I have the phone number of the salesmen I bought the car from in 2014, at McGrath City Hyundai in Chicago, IL. His name is Frank, I called him and he agreed to help me since I received really poor customer service at the Palatine dealership. Kyle was less than professional or helpful. On one of the visits I made to the Palatine dealership he was so disrespectful, as he was walking away and his back was to me he said get your car out of here or Ill charge you for storage. I did let him know I was now going to be working with Frank who was going to work on my behalf through the Gurnee Dealership.Kyle was not going to let me get things out of my car until I paid $165 in diagnostic fees. I was told I didnt owe any money. Kyle did call me back and told me I dont owe anything. I can get belongings out of my car. On October 13th Frank told me he was going to have my car towed the next day, October 15th Frank said I have to call Palatine and pay a $100 fee Palatine would not release the car to Frank at his Gurnee, IL. location. I went and signed a release and was told no charge. On October 19th Frank said they were busy at his dealership and couldnt get my car. On October 20th I texted Frank & He said hed call me in 20 minutes, I never received the call. On October 22nd I sent Frank a text telling him I didnt want to bother him but I need some answers. He replied in the text that he was on the phone with Hyundai, he would text me in 5 minutes. He was almost done, never texted me. On Monday, October 23rd I texted Frank to see what was happening. He replied in a text shortly and never called or texted. On Wednesday, October 27th I sent Frank a text asking him or telling him if he cant help me please just be honest, I am desperate for answers. He emailed me back saying they just emailed him 2 hours ago that they have a conference call at 9 the next day. He said hed have a definite answer by noon, he never called me back.Frank told me about updates being done. When they are received has to be done in a certain time frame. Even if Im not aware of the updates, I didnt get notices on all the updates. Frank then gave me a phone number to get reimbursed for the rental Customer Service Specialist 714-887-2553 I have left several messages and I am not getting a return call. He had e email him the receipts. Here it is November 8th, Im no better off than I was September 29th! Frank is now at The Gurnee dealership. I called the Gurnee dealership to find out Franks last name and the person on the phone said he was new and didnt know his last name. I do have cell phone numbers for both gentlemen. I started working with Frank on October 7th. I really thought Frank was going to help me with my car and I appreciated him saying he was going to help me but he really just wasted time and I do wish he wouldve been honest with me and told me he cant help me. I had sent Frank my drivers license, bill of sales & known updates done at a Highland Park, IL. dealership. I have copies of text messages.Consumer Affairs did call me once, I missed the call they said they would call back and they have not. I am amazed how uncaring and unprofessional this company is. I have left several messages with no response. I am so tired of Hyundai taking advantage of me. I will NEVER buy or recommend to anyone buy a Hyundai. I have never experience a situation as bad as this in my life. Hyundai is not a stand up corporation in my eyes. They are failures. TOTALLY TAKING ADVANTAGE!
I have been a Hyundai customer for many years. Fortunately, I have only had to call for roadside assistance a couple of times. They were courteous and prompt. Even when I had some personal technical difficulties, they were patient and understanding. They did follow up calls to make sure that the service was satisfactory and complete. Very organized and very professional.
This is in regards to the Sonata that we had purchased. I want to start off by stating how extremely upset I am of how the entire experience has been since day one! We were mistreated and screwed due to negligence and lack of communication between dealership and the Hyundai Finance department when processing our loan to be financed. I have never dealt with such miscommunication on a very important investment purchase. I have contacted Hyundai Dealership and Finance center for the whole month of December, January, February and now March via email, phone and mail.I have over and over explained and have provided proof of documents that included harassing statements and letters that we were not qualified and we were required to return the vehicle immediately for the entire month of December and January (totaling a number of 4 letters)! We made numerous attempts to get in contact with assigned Financial Representative who was taking care of our loan and was also instructed per letters received as the main contact person. I have copies of all logged phone calls, emails, letters and conversations that were placed regarding this issue and after all the numerous attempts to have someone help us with Hyundais error created by Hyundai. We never received any management nor representative help ever, except one original email from Kyle ** (assigned financial rep) requesting that we provide additional income statements early in December, for Brandon **.I emailed Kyle and requested further explanation of what was going on regarding our loan funding because we had received letters from him and the agency stating we were declined. And now, here he is requesting additional income? I never ever received a response back from him nor call back or help from management in Hyundai dealership as no one was communicating if we were approved or not. Putting us in a dark room and no communication from anyone, I had requested that HR from our current employers would reach out to Kyle to verify any income information he needed so that the loan would be funded. Shortly after that request, I was informed per Human Resources representative at my company that they provided Kyle with all requested documentation and verified our income upon request. They also stated that they asked for several confirmation requests that verified all documents they had provided met underwriting guidelines for the loan and they never received a confirmation or response as well. In between that time, we received additional letters stating that we were still not qualified and other letters requesting the return of the vehicle immediately. After I realized that we would not get anywhere, holidays were now ruined because of this process and caused tremendous hardship to our family as we were forced to go purchase an additional vehicle after receiving declined letters and no communication Hyundai. After the purchase of the additional vehicle I was forced to buy, the 2013 Hyundai Sonata purchased was currently located in the dealership shopping center body shop after a car accident took place in between the 30-day period the car was in our possession. But is now not in our possession. We lost money in purchasing another vehicle as we were led to believe that we did not qualify. The first statement was sent to us towards the last days of January, it was dated way after the agreed first payment of Jan 5. So I called Hyundai Finance and was told we were qualified after all! I requested to speak to a supervisor as it was explained that the loan was not funded until Jan. 5th (way past the date loan should have been funded). Management had stated that the loan had to be rebooked due to Hyundai submitting loan approval late and incorrect.I then reached out to Hyundai Dealership and was finally contacted by Kyle and told that he and the manager were unable to do anything (which was the complete opposite of what Hyundai finance stated)! I then had stated I wanted my January payment waived per Hyundais error and all the money I have now lost due to this error. I stated I was still willing to keep car and make payments but needed that to be corrected - it was so simple and I was tossed around by Kyle and told they could do anything. I then spoke to management from Hyundai Finance on Feb. 19 and was told by management after I had explained the situation that they were going to make arrangements to amend the loan current and I was told they were going to remove my phone numbers from their system to avoid future collection calls. All my phone numbers were removed except for my work phone which I had told collection rep that they need to look at notes for Feb. 19 and reference. They stated that management never inputted notes. I am fed up by now. All this lying and mistreatment for no reason has now led me to anxiety and stress health issues that have now been noticed by my primary doctor and I was prescribed medical drugs in order to be able to handle the stress this has caused my family and me. I have had to come out of pocket on fees and deductibles for the repairs of 2013 Sonata due to me now being approved for loan, therefore making me responsible. I am not happy and think that there has to be an immediate solution to the inconvenience! Our lawyers suggestion is to return as requested per written notices and void all sales transaction deal per original mailed correspondence.I have proof of all attempts I tried and several people on my end had tried to make this process flow smoothly ... but it seems to have now gotten out of hand due to the irresponsibility and miscommunication within Hyundai company. This has now affected our credit and I am forced to take this to litigation and recover from all costs of damages and stress encountered from this entire process. I am requesting that someone step up to the plate as an associate from Hyundai, if you are reading this, to show some kind of respect for the rights of the consumer. Unfortunately, we live in a world that is so cold-hearted and full of effortless people who like the easier route of not going the extra mile for the customer, when dealing with their day to day job. But who is to forget, that customer could be you a couple of days from now; another company - another service. How would you like to be treated? Will you be that different associate? I say all of this with the hope that someone at Hyundai hears me and my familys plea of financial hardship this all has caused us, including rent being behind- having to degrade myself by sharing my situation on comment online complaint forms and to emails of candidates that have just glanced on my case and tossed to the side. How fair is this? I am a customer that all Ive asked for is a simple January payment to be adjusted due to company error and now I am forced to file litigation suit. Can I please get fair treatment and advice on who can fix all this issue for good and avoid further unnecessary actions?
Had no knowledge of the Azera when I first saw the car but after a test drive comparison with the Sonata it seemed more substantial and luxurious. I have leased over eight cars in my lifetime but the Azera limited was the first that I purchased at the end of a lease. The Azera limited had many factory installed options and safety features that were standard along with the Hyundai warranty made the Azera limited the obvious choice.
Ive leased many cars over the years, but never have I had a more negative experience than I had with Hyundai Finance. There was, apparently an end-of-lease termination charge (unrelated to the condition of the vehicle, purely an administrative/profit charge) that was identified in the very small print at the end of my lease agreement. When I turned in the vehicle along with the inspection report that showed no damage and no charges, I inquired whether there was anything owed and was told no, youre good to go.I never received an invoice of any kind from Hyundai indicating that there was a balance due following the termination of my lease agreement (5/31/2018). I was unaware that there was a balance due until my bank notified me that there had been an adverse credit report on Experian. While Hyundai called my home and left several voicemails, they failed to indicate the reason or purpose of their calls and I assumed, since my lease was over and the car had been returned, that they were sales/promotional related calls, similar to the hundreds of other such calls I receive that go unanswered. Hyundai had the capability to take direct draws on my account during the lease period. I received an email communication from Hyundai on May 1, 2018 stating that my financial obligation was complete and that the payment schedule was being deleted at Hyundai’s request.Following return of the lease vehicle, Hyundai shut down access to my online account with them; consequently I could not log-in to see details about any balance due. Although I had previously updated my address of record on the Hyundai Finance website, Hyundai apparently contacted my prior employer and sent notifications to my prior employers address, rather than contact me at my home address. As I was no longer an employee there, my former employer did not act on these communications other than to inform Hyundai Finance that I was no longer an employee. After seeing the adverse entry on my credit report, I contacted Hyundai to inquire what was going on. That is when they suddenly informed me that there was a past due amount. I informed them that I had never received an invoice and was unable to look at my account online because they had closed it and requested that they fax the invoice to me. As soon as I received the invoice, it was paid in-full within 48 hours. The people who I spoke with at Hyundai were rude and unprofessional and completely devoid of any sense of customer service orientation. They didnt care at all that I had never received the invoice. Despite explaining in detail what had happened, they refused to do anything to correct the adverse credit rating report that was fully their own administrative failure! My advice to anyone purchasing or leasing a Hyundai vehicle -- work with your own bank and stay completely away from Hyundai Finance. You will regret ever having established a business relationship with them.
Since I have had the car April 2015. I had to buy front brakes and rotors 3 weeks after the purchase for inspection. The dealer told me they dont have to replace the brakes for Pa. inspection. How can they sell a car with bad brakes. Also this car has an issue with the tire pressure sensor no matter what pressure you have. And now I am getting a fuel sensor error causing the check engine light to come on. I am scare that with the sensor for the fuel may cause issues with the fuel gauge and not knowing the amount of fuel you have such as reading 1/2 fuel and being empty. This needs to be addressed via Hyundai to repair this asap.
I paid 36,853.00 for a Sonata turbo Tech pack and came with a FOD. Chrome tailpiece rusted within in the first week. I examine carefully several time where this dusty rust came from. Why I have rust particle in top of the tailpipe every day? UMMM To repair I have to paid 400.00 dollars to the body shop to remove the bumper cover and surprise, we found metal shaving in the cavity of the bumper frames were the two bolts hold in place the uni-body and the bumper frame. We have photos and planning to reporting to BBB. Manufacturers corporation sometimes they have angry employee damaging the products to make the company look bad. The quality control department for Hyundai is completely responsible for any FOD left in a car. The dealer was notified, they dont care. I submit all the evidence to Allstate claim department. Total repair 650.00.
I have a 2013 Sonata and I have to say the service has been terrible. The service staff is always rude and they do not honor warranty or recalls (always blaming the customer). I had the pleasure of witnessing the service provided to a friend by Volkswagen and was floored at the concern, the detail, and the prompt repair.
Since I entered my review, I filed a complaint with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and with corporate Hyundai. As I had mentioned, I had already discussed this at my dealership Bronco Motors. The NHTSA called me and took more information from me, but otherwise, I didnt see any action. Natasha from Hyundai corporate and I played phone tag, but she never actually spoke to me. In spite of my leaving many messages, I got a letter from her essentially saying that because I hadnt contacted them, they werent going to do much. However, the service manager (Brandon) at Bronco Motors took a very active interest in my situation and followed up. This last week, he notified me that a new software patch had been released. He helped me set up an appointment for the update, and today I took it in and had the patch applied. Now, I need to see how this turns out over different driving scenarios, but my drive back and forth to work following the patch was spectacularly better. For the first time since I got the Tucson, the transmission functions like I would expect! Just yesterday, when it was very hot, the transmission acted up horribly. Today, even though it was still hot, the transmission performed perfectly. Like I said, Ill be a little skeptical until I see how it performs in a variety of situations, but for the first time, it didnt leave me feeling like it might let me down in the middle of an intersection! If your dealer hasnt reached out to you, give them a call and see if this newly released patch is for you.
My 2014 Sonata was at the end of the lease. I always had automatic payment out of my checking account. On May 10 I requested the stop of the automatic payment. I received confirmation and a paper invoice. The car was turned in on May 27. Hyundai still deducted the lease payment on May 29. From my checking account. I called them on May 31, they admitted it was a mistake on their part. They said I would get a refund in 3-4 weeks. Be careful of Hyundai. I would cancel my auto payment 3 months early to avoid this situation.
I have a 2008 Veracruz with deteriorating seats which is still covered under warranty. But they will not fix them, because the service manager at Pride claimed this is caused by normal wear and tear. The color on both front seats is wearing off. I do not feel I paid $25,000.00 for a car with color that is going to wear off the seats in 3 years. Needless to say, the car only has 43,000 miles on it. The seats are covered up to five years or 60,000 miles. I was told if the seams wear, then it will be covered. Should I have to wait till then? By then, the warranty will not be honored.
After purchasing a 2011 Sonata, I went back within a week with a steering problem - pulls to left at highway speeds. I left the car with them; the car still pulls to the left. I consider this a safety issue since more effort is required to keep the car tracking straight. Hyundai Motor Corporation is extremely uncooperative also, hoping that I would just give up through frustration.
We have had the 2014 Elantra a year which we bought directly from Woodland Hills Hyundai dealer. It wasnt cheap, as with the extended warranty of 100,000 miles it came to $24,000. We were never told the car did not come with a spare tire. We spent the evening of fathers day being towed back to the dealer and missing our plans because we got a flat tire. The response I was given as its like this in all the cars now. I know that isnt true, because we also bought a Toyota and Nissan which have spare tires. For a company that prides itself on safety, not having a spare or informing the purchase that there is no spare, is not ok!!! The car drives fine, but this to me reflects very poor customer service.
I purchased a new 2009 Sonata Limited 4/08. Now, it has approx. 23,500 miles. Months back, I discovered an item I now need (that was supposed to be on the car) was not there. Although I was told and given a valet key that the manual states leaving the sub key with a parking attendant will ensure that your vehicles trunk, trunk like release, glove box compartment and rear trunk access may not be unlocked in your absence, the information and manual are not correct. The valet system locks were never installed. This never came to my attention until some time back when I had major back surgery and could no longer lift items from the trunk (that cannot be secured) until I could find someone to do it for me. This means I must drive around with items in the trunk that are not secured. Hyundai Consumer Affairs has offered many excuses - such as:1. Company decided child safety hazard and stopped installing them - not correct2. The locks are there and you just need to go to the dealer and they will locate them for you. - Service Mgr & Asst. looked for them and when they could not find them told me some cars come down the line with things left off other cars of the same model. Warranty dept. then asked me to visit a different dealer to locate.3. One email reads, Your vehicle would have come with 2 keys, one that can lock/unlock the the trunk and glove box and the other to give to a valet attendant so they can park the vehicle. - I received from the dealership 3 keys - 2 regular and 1 valet with the explanation that it would do as the manual states above.4. NHTSA action number 10025822 issued 9/9/08 - four months after car purchased reads - Hyundai owners manuals for all 2009 Sonata vehicles contain incorrect information regarding sub key (valet key) operations. Until a printing revision is implemented, manuals will need to have the sticker overlays installed. No sticker overlay could have been installed as the car was purchased 4 months earlier than the bulletin date. Sales department misrepresented the car as they werent even knowledgeable about the missing locks.Theres absolutely no satisfaction from Hyundai. With my physical condition, it now looks like I will have to purchase a different make car. I believe Hyundai should work out something with me on this car. To date they have no interest.
I took out a 2 year lease on a Hyundai Tucson. It was extended to 3 years because of lockdown. The contract mileage was 10000/pa but I returned the car with less than 20000 on the clock. No consideration was given for the reduced mileage. A lot of my friends leased vehicles with other companies but were given discounts for their reduced mileage. This was the only company that I have used who have not made allowances for this. It is the last time that I will ever use them again. Its a shame as I loved the car!!!
My wife, 64, was driving out one owner Hyundai Accent on a private road about 15MPH when the airbags suddenly deployed without any impact occurring to the vehicle. My wife received severe bruises on both arms and the face and the windshield was shattered by impact from the passenger side airbag deployment. We were fortunate as she was going very slowly and there was no other traffic... Had she been in busy traffic or on an interstate, there would probably have been a major collision and severe injury or possible death. Hyundai local dealership (Perkins Motors of Colorado Springs) was appraised of the problem but refused to do anything. When we contacted Hyundai HQ consumer affairs we were told that they would send us a packet of papers to be filled out and returned to them. They would then let us know in six or eight weeks whether they would do anything. The car is undriveable... And my wife will never drive it again after the scare she received together with the potential for a much more horrible outcome than actually occurred.Hyundai seems to have no interest in seeing the vehicle and figuring out what may have gone wrong and whether it might be a risk factor for other owners as well, despite the obvious implications of consumer risk when airbags inflate without any cause. I volunteered to haul the car to the local dealership at my own expense and inconvenience and they responded that they would not look at it even if I did so unless I agreed to pay for all repairs in advance. One would think that they would care to find out what might have gone wrong. All in all, it has been a horrible experience and the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Note to all Hyundai owners: I would have to recommend that you NOT drive your vehicles as the potential for a major accident is very real and, like other manufacturers in the past, Hyundai seems to feel no sense of urgency in finding out what the core problem is and fixing it.
After 5.5 years and limited mileage two major parts requiring replacement costing up to £2500 for non genuine parts. This is not my expectation and I reported this to Hyundai. As far as I am concerned this is an unreliable vehicle. I have looked after the car and the Hyundai garage say it is one of those things, however they did try and sell me another car at the time I was voicing my concerns.
I purchased a new (only 100 kms) 2009 Sante Fe last year that had been sitting on a dealers lot for two years. It is a standard front wheel drive and thats why they say it wouldnt sell because no one wanted a standard, but I did. Since my purchase (I now have 30,000 km), there has been a bad vibration between 80km-120 km. You can see the passenger seat and the back one shacking. I phoned the dealership I purchased it from who is 3.5 hours away from me and they told me that it was the tires and it was up to me to replace. (This was after several balances out of my own pocket.) So luckily, I found a good tire dealership whose tire rep said he would replace the tires at no charge. This did not fix the problem. So to save time and money, I went to a Red Deer Hyundai dealership (only 45 minutes away) and for the last four months, they have been trying to resolve it. I now have new motor mounts, new wheel bearings, two new axles and when that didnt work, they tried the transmission! When they opened it, it was all rusted and there were two rocks inside? They were baffled but figured a new transmission would fix it. It did not! So here I am today with my unsatisfactory car and an empty wallet! What do I do next? The dealership is at a loss and Hyundai Canada just keeps calling the dealership relaying the information I already know! I have had to take numerous days off work and so much fuel to travel back and forth to the dealership. Someone please help me! I would sell the vehicle but who would buy a vehicle that vibrates. Im so stuck and it makes me sick that I spent this kind of money and have horrible results.
I took my 2013 Genesis in for a recall and was talked into trading it in and leasing a new Tucson. I then read that if I were to total the leased vehicle, I would be out the equity from my Genesis as the insurance would pay them, not me. I explained my concerns and was within the three days that the lease stated I had to cancel. They were upset and said that it wasnt true and that I would get the money. I said, If I rent an apartment and it burns down, I will NOT get the money, the OWNER will! So they kept saying that wasnt true and were angry but brought my Genesis back and I left, forgetting I had given them my title (free and clear). When I realized this, I called and they said they would send the title. It has been a week and I dont think Ill be getting it. I realize I shouldve done my homework first and avoided this embarrassing situation, but I am looking to trade in and buy a vehicle from them after a vacation Im planning. I told them this but still no title. Also, they just brought my vehicle in a huff and I didnt sign anything so Im hoping I dont get screwed worse than losing my title. If I receive the title tomorrow, Ill feel terrible and Ill have to delete this or update.
Hyundai has the worst leasing programs in the business. Do not fall for their lease plan. My wife turned her Equis recently. The car was 12,000 miles under so she thought she was fine. She had the Hyundai dealer wash the car when she took it in for an oil change. They used a pressure washer and took some of the pearl white off the plastic bumper. The manager said they have had issues with this paint and not to worry. Hyundai sent a person out to look at her car and write it up. She wrote down the paint issue. She said it needed a new tire. The tire in question was well within the safe range. Note that this vehicle was known to have under equipped tires on them and she kept the same when she replaced them. After 24,000 miles she had purchased two sets of tires. The Equis was their top of the line vehicle and their bottom of the line vehicles had more bells and whistles on them. My wife had asked before purchasing the vehicle about all of the things like bluetooth and was assured it had it but the salesman didnt know how to work it. That was a lie. She went back the day after purchasing the vehicle and was told Too bad, were sorry. Cant do anything about it. I will say it was the best driving vehicle weve had and I did enjoy it. The problem was the Hyundai Lease, they lie, cheat and dig into your back pocket. DO NOT LEASE THROUGH HYUNDAI. Purchase the vehicle outright or find another lease option. My wife showed the Texas Hyundai Lease manager her original correspondence and how Hyundai Lease didnt get back to her the first week she had it. They do not care about you, just the money. We are waiting on a recall for the white paint to get our money back. Tire places including the dealership said the tire in question was within code. The dealership said they would have waived all of the issues Hyundai Lease found. Remember, youre getting the car from a dealership but youre dealing with Hyundai underhand Lease.
I purchased this car 6 months ago along with an extended warranty. I was driving it the other day and it just died on me while I was on a busy street! I put the hazards on and put it into park and tried to restart and it would not. I got it towed to the dealership and they inform me the engine has seized and it will cost me about $8000 to fix it! The oils burned up and caused it to seize!
I was recently involved in an accident whereby my car was hit so hard that my tire burst, all 4 doors terribly damaged and my right fender, front bumper split, my radiator bend BUT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY?? It does help Hyundai concentrate so much on having a car on the road that is economical but NOT SAFE.
Extremely pleased with my 2004 Hyundai XG350L. Years ago I would have never thought to buy a Hyundai of any type but was struck by what I saw in the XG350L. It gave me 11 years and 248,000 miles of enjoyment. Would buy another if I could afford it.
My 2007 Elantra SE was just totaled this month. This car is one of the best cars we ever had. It still runs like a top but the rear end damage totaled it. This car never needed anything besides regular maintenance. It now has 230,000 + miles on it. It was very comfortable, peppy car and it will be missed! This was a great car and I will buy another one.
My husband is in the military. We contacted Hyundai about applying the SSRA (Soldiers & Sailors Relief Act). When they applied this they lost 5 of my payments. I spent weeks trying to get this corrected. I have been treated like a criminal, talked nasty to, and demanded I pay my past due balance. If you pulled their statements online, it showed every payment, the payment history though, disappeared. They required me to send them proof that I had made all these payments. I had to go to the bank, and stamped copies of the electronic transactions. Then, they almost didnt even accept the bank statements. Finally, after going through several people, they corrected the payments by the end of January. When they corrected my payments, we lost the SSRA. So, I called in again on 2/8/12, and spoke to a manager about the SSRA. They assured me, and promised me that this would be corrected by the weekend. Well, it is the weekend, and once again, my payments, since September, have disappeared yet once again. They are saying I owe over $2,000, and I am not even sure they got the SSRA applied correctly. David in California is the only person in the entire company they say that can apply the SSRA. Really? For a company this large? They see they are trying to reverse my payments once again. Heres a new problem, they are now showing 90 days late on our credit report, and mind you, my husband is an active military, and this could cost him his career. I have requested letters 3 times from Hyundai, that this is no fault of my own, and the matter has been corrected. It is always they dont do letters, but will forward to the correct department. I am at my wits end, and have never paid any payment late. I have worked for my credit very hard, and it is not fair that a company can just mess up your account, and you pay the price.
I was notified after I bought the car that all they give you is a can of spare tire. They do not even have a spare tire kit that you can buy until the end of this summer. The only thing I can buy is a new rim that fits and costs anywhere from $377.00 to $477.00, and thats without the tire. I drive a handicapped person, and this is very unacceptable, especially if something happens that cannot be fixed by spraying spare tire into it. Like I said, I was not told when I bought this car that there was no spare; or I would not have purchased it. I have dealt with Consumer Affairs at Hyundai and got no satisfaction whatsoever. I mentioned that if I was told there was no spare and I would not buy the car for that reason, they would have gone out of their way to give me one. This is very frustrating, since I cant even purchase one because there is no kit designed. I have already taken all their surveys before this was brought to my attention. But I would have told them what I really feel, if I had known. They seem to care, until you have an issue.
I bought a 2011 Elantra limited brand new. I am getting on average 22 mpg, summer and now winter. City is 19 and highway is 23 mpg. Im waiting to see Hyundais response on this. I have my 3rd visit to the dealership next week. I saw where Honda got in big trouble for misrepresenting mileage (should be around 40 highway, 33 combined).
Drove an hour from my home to Stockbridge, Massachusetts and left my keys on my car seat only to return and found out I was locked out. I called Hyundai roadside service and was told it would be 58 minutes for service to arrive. I waited an hour and called again and the automated response said the driver was 3 minutes away. I waited another 15 minutes and called and got a Hyundai live person and he told me that the service company 911 was 3 minutes away. Here’s where Hyundai roadside service failed. After waiting almost 2 hours I called and they told me that the service company canceled the work order to unlock my car because it was not their area. I was furious at this point and asked what do I do. After another 2 hours I received a call that a roadside assistance vehicle would come from Lenox, Mass. Will be there in approximately 5 hours. At this point I had to call my son to bring me another set of keys. It took him over 3 hours for a round trip run. It was either that or break my window a bill Hyundai. I will reconsider buying another vehicle that claims it offers roadside service.
In early Jan. I bought a new 2014 Hyundai Tucson. Shortly after I started to notice a smell that I thought was just the car breaking in. After about 1,000 miles I asked the salesman about some smoking from the engine. He said it was probably just the new car breaking in. It seemed to disappear for a while. Then around 4,000 miles it seemed to start again or at least I started to notice it again. I made an appointment to bring it in for service and to check it out. They told me it was a cracked gasket and they had to order the part. They gave me a rental and I returned the next day to pick it up. Then they told me they found 2 holes in the manifold and it was leaking oil and they had to check with a tech to find out what to do. They had to order a new head and I guess rebuild the engine. After a week without my car I went in to see the salesman to see when it will be done and if they could do anything to compensate me for the inconvenience. They said they could put me in another new car (lease to own) for about 5,000 more dollars. Same payments and a buyout fee of about 12,000 dollars. I had a 6 year loan and this would be more than I signed on for 3 months ago (and about 4,500 miles ago). This is 4/12/14 and I still dont know when my car will be ready! I took it in on 4/03/14. I dont know if it will affect the car long term or not. Please let me know if there is anything I can do about it. Thank you.
I just purchased a 2012 Accent. I drive 40 miles to work on the interstate every day. Once I reach 70 mph, my car starts to swerve to the point I almost run into the other lanes. When I try to correct the car, it gets worse. One time, I almost ran a car off the road. Terrified to drive, I took the car into the dealership and was told its my electric power steering. I was told theres nothing they could do to help me. They told me I need to get use to the sensitive steering. Seriously! I was told by the dealership the sensitive steering does not change even at high speeds. If I turn my steering wheel a little bit, my car will go in that direction very fast. This is very dangerous. Hyundai needs to fix this problem before someone gets hurt.
The mileage is about 9000 miles, it started to smell like eggs. I dealer and they gave me the runaround. I heard it might be the catalytic converter going bad but they said have that I have a check engine light on first, but the gas mileage is getting worse. Seems like they dont want to fix nothing. Dont buy the Hyundai Sonata Limited hybrid until they fix the problem.
Mon, 10-14-19 hybrid system failure. Roadside assistance arranged for vehicle hauled to nearest dealership...one where we purchased it 11 mo prior in Montgomery AL, the dealership is 45 min drive from our house...Hard to reach ppl via ph for info re our car--during one call, informed us only 2 certified hybrid techs, both unfortunately had fam emergencies this week, had to leave early-- one day told us the electric water pump being replaced, another day told didnt need one. On Fri 10-11-19 the service advisor called to say it was ready, that the code for water pump was old, they cleared as per techline instructions then a driver (never found out who drove it the 53 mi since i was told the name would be on receipt but it wasnt...it was not a service tech or advisor, just a driver) Did not feel comfortable picking it up since nothing was fixed & expressed such to the advisor but was assured it was ok. Gut saying this not sound right, called Hyundai customer service and explained situation. Was told the info being sent to a case mgr who would be in touch in a couple of business days. Well, on Mon 10-14-19 the hybrid system failed. This time on a busy highway in morning traffic, thankfully able to make it off road and into business parking lot despite losing power. This time because of the location where it broke down, roadside assistance (who finally answered call after 33 min on hold) ordered it sent it to another dealership, this one in Bham AL. Because the case mgr had not made contact yet, called customer service again and rep confirmed that was right, our car had to go to Bham because according to present location thats nearest dealership, if not we would be responsible for paying. While waiting over an hour for the tow vehicle, called ahead to the dealerships service dept hoping to arrange for a loaner vehicle since this location is pretty far from my home. Customer service said couldnt do it for me, had to wait for case mgr- who was scheduled to call me the next day between 1 and 3pm...how does that help me now? (I did not get loaner while mine was in shop 5 days the week before.) Man at dealership said that they couldnt guarantee would have a car available. Floored to hear that, so next called dealership in Montgomery and explained what going on. After all, I was just there on Friday. They arranged to send someone to drive me down there for a loaner. I am grateful they agreed to give me a car and young woman who came for us was sweet, but I was shocked when she got a call from the service dept telling her to hand her cell phone to the tow driver...he confirmed my suspicion that they told him to take car down there, not Bham as roadside had ordered. I made it clear that I was not able to pay for it to go anywhere else, that 2 different persons from Hyundai said it had to go to Bham. He agreed to do as originally instructed. 2 1/2 hrs after placed call to roadside, car headed to dealership in Bham, we on way to Montgomery for loaner. (Driver was accommodating and stopped at Wendys as we requested to grab lunch.) Sonata hybrid system failed at 9:25 a.m., we finally made it back home at 2pm. Case mgr called Mon at 4:30p.m. She expressed that she was glad vehicle went to current location instead of former. Said she has better working relationship with this one. At this point were hopeful that it was all for the best...boy was that wrong! Tuesday 10-15-19 just past noon the advisor called to say scanned for codes, got same one as previous service dept but here they consulted techline and concluded the low voltage was due to a light being left on in the car, so after driving 18 mi with no issues they felt could be picked up by us. Absolutely floored at that explanation--so different from what we got from other dealership-- expressed felt even more uncomfortable driving off again without any repair done, esp after what happened the last time. It has already experienced the hybrid system failure 3x while were driving down the road at this point. Same code, totally different answers. Was told would check on it again first thing next morning and see how it does. At lunchtime Wed 10-16-19 advisor calls back to say car seems fine but he needs more info, cant find service record from Montgomery in the system. Sounds strange but we are nervous about this dangerous problem and want to get to the root cause. Not want get caught stranded on road again, so we volunteer to send copy of our invoice via email. Advisor calls back just a short time later to say he consulted with advisor in Montgomery AND the case mgr who agree electric water pump needs to be replaced. (Wow, were amazed he was able to get them both on phone in that short amount of time. But then again he works there... As a customer, calling and getting straight thru to someone is very rare. Usually have to leave message and sometimes takes days to get call back.) He says will order new pump, it wont come in until mid afternoon following day and we will need to be worked in to the schedule. So dont expect it to be ready until Mon. at earliest. Wanting to be certain this is the root of the problem, asked if that was what techline had now told him to do in order to fix it or did he just go by what other advisor said? (The first advisor had told us that if car had ended up back there again, they wouldve put one on...so, they were ok letting us drive a car that they mustve known had a good chance of shutting off on us going down the road again, then they would fix it?? So, what was that explanation about it being an old code??) Well, he replied he did not personally talk to techline. Makes us wonder why he would go off the advice from a dealership he had expressed little respect for previously? And why the case mgr would, either, especially seeing that she expressed same feelings toward them?? But he said thats the plan and to make us feel more comfortable that 3 ppl would test drive it before give back to us: him (advisor),a technician and the service mgr, even said one of them could drive it home so could spend more time with the vehicle. Hmm.. Well, later that afternoon the case manager called confirming this dealership will replace elect water pump and said Montgomery service mgr apologized for not doing so. She confirmed the part was being ordered today. She said should not expect car completed until possibly midweek...which we were fine with that time frame, even though longer than advisor had said would take, if it was going to be what needed to fix the problem. Now is where things took a strange turn. Not expecting part in at Bham dealership until Thursday afternoon 10-17-19, ironically got call from Montgomery service dept stating the car is ready. Wait, what???? Totally confused, asked if our vehicle was back in Montgomery?? No, it was not. Next, asked why is someone in Montogomery calling to tell us instead of the staff in Bham?? Well, thats still up in air... as to who contacted whom first or why they needed to in first place...your guess is as good as any. Each accused other and at this point our confidence level in either is gone. It was a very unprofessional event to be caught in the middle of. I called two times trying to reach service manager for Bham, first time got his vm, left message but no reply. After waiting a while, 2nd time called someone else answered the phone when asked operator for him. That individual put the advisor on line. It is very odd that Bham service advisor said Montgomery shouldnt have called me yet because its NOT ready. This despite the fact that Montgomery sent a screenshot, via text message, of an email Bham service mgr sent telling Montgomery the vehicle is ready. Wow, just wow...so I address this with the advisor, who explains that even though the service manager signed off on it, he-the advisor- is not done yet. This is totally confusing, so immediately called case manager, but she not answer, left her a message. Next day, Friday 10- 18-19 after advisor calls stating now car looks to be sound, we express that events of the previous day made us uncomfortable and not ready to get it, want to wait until discuss with case mgr. He says take your time. Wanting to verify what exactly was done , by whom and when, we try to contact case mgr again , but again have to leave message. Trying to call a different # for assistance was no help, was told being transferred and after 8 min on hold was disconnected. Over the weekend we received several emails inviting us to rate our experiences with the dealerships and case manager. So we did give ratings of dealerships, but replied to email about case manager that would rate her when shes finished with our case. (Hoped that would get a call returned sooner...so much for that) Did not hear back from her until Wed a.m. 10-23-19. So disappointed that the info she shared contradicted that from previous conversations. We made request for car to be returned to us, not feel safe driving if cant keep stories straight as to how fixed. Here is what we take issue with. 1) Says the ser mgr in bham called one in Montgomery to find out what was wrong with car, this is off because when he finally called today, Wed 10-23-19, stated that he was not familiar with the vehicle, needed to be clued in. 2) Now being told the pump was ordered on Mon evening 10-14-19, (recall, thats the day before the advisor said we could pick it up because left light on and its fine now). 3) She says service mgr told her car was ready Saturday (remember the fiasco on Thursday the 17th, the email he sent replying the car is ready? Same day tried calling her but no response). So, who are we supposed to believe at this point??? She asks what we want from Hyundai? First time asked that was on first call way back on 14th, told her want car fixed correctly. Not convinced that happened. Techline was referenced several times but weve been told we cant be given any contact info for them so we can verify our car care was handled in most appropriate manner...we want any info techline got from either dealership and what info they related to them. Customer service says we can and should get a second opinion of not happy, but we have to pay for it. Our request is that they return our vehicle back to us, so we can do just that. We asked for it to be towed back, but they refused. We are not confident in the service provided at this point, would hate if mishandled and it ends up shutting down again on the road. Advisor says he confident enough to drive it back to us, but not enough employees avail for one to drive him back to dealership. Ser mgr says needs to think outside the box with our request...it would make other customers jealous if did for us and cant for them.... That was the last weve heard from anyone about it...That was on Wed 10-23-19 when told going to discuss with general mgr of dealership and get back with us... Reached out to general mgr of Montgomery dealership who replied to our online reviews, but he has not return our call either.
When you call in to Hyundai there is the normal menu that you select to reach the correct department. I was trying to reach Blue Link and I was put into a phone queue, theres music in the background asking you to hold but there is no indication of how long you have to hold. After an hour and 15 minutes with no answer I hung up and tried calling again making a different selection. Ive been selected Genesis customer service. After about 15 minutes they picked up the line and informed me that Id have to call back to Blue Link and they could not help me reach them. I asked to speak to a supervisor and then found out that if you wanted to speak to a supervisor you could leave your number and they call you back in the next day or two. So I left my number and received no return phone call. I then followed up with an email to customer service and again received no communication back other than acknowledgment of my email. Its now been two weeks, 4 phone calls and three emails later. Not a single phone call for me to go full email response. If you have a Hyundai product need help they arent there, Although I like the car I will not be buying another Genesis in 2018. This is the worst customer experience I have ever had with a major manufacturer.
I made a down payment of $2k on what was to be a new 2013 Genesis Premium Coupe. After much research, I found out what others were paying for this vehicle and signed a purchase agreement, for which the salesperson refused to provide me with a copy saying it was against Corporate Policy. The exact vehicle had to be obtained from a W. Virginia dealership, so I didnt see the car until all the paperwork was signed. The window sticker of the W. VA dealership showed the car had 9 miles on it. I figured the vehicle should have about 100 to 125 miles on it. The salesperson stated they would have to search for one, and surprisingly, he had it on his lot the following morning. I couldnt pick it up for four days, so the dealership had time to call and alert me to the high mileage but didnt.I found out about the high mileage when I was signing the odometer statement. I questioned it and was told that the vehicle was not driven from the originating dealership but from another W. VA dealership that traded it with the originating dealership. Even in that event, 455 miles sounded unreasonable. I found several paint chips, nicks, and scratches when I got the car home. I requested to speak with the General Sales Manager about the high mile, condition of the paint job, and an allowance of $300.00. Despite repeated attempts, he refused to talk with me. The dealership didnt want to have anything to do with this matter, but the salesperson did pay someone $32.50 to fix two of the paint chips and he paid for a rental. The dealership would have had to pay for a rental anyway, since I had to bring the vehicle back to have the Paint and Fabric Protection applied and 24 hours were needed for it to dry.I paid the same amount for a vehicle with 455 miles that other people were paying for the same car with 2 or ten or sixty miles. I looked into the matter further and found that the car was driven from the originating dealership in W. VA to a dealership in Pennsylvania, back to a dealership in W. VA. and finally to Hyundai of Greensbug. The salesperson left that out. In addition, the mileage driven from the various dealerships fell short of 455 miles which meant someone was driving the vehicle for personal use. I have no way of knowing how the car was driven during the all important Break-In-Period. Furthermore, when I first liquid-waxed the car, I noticed another paint chip on the edge of the hood closest to the windshield. I dont know how damage was done so close to the windshield without damaging the windshield. The chip was down to the metal but covered with the paint protection dried solution. At this point, I had only driven the car, which is garage-kept, about 100 miles. So the damage did not occur while I had it. I called the salesman and he told me I could bring the car in to have the paint chip repaired at my own expense. There is no way anyone within their right mind would pay what I paid knowing in advance that the vehicle had 455 miles on it. No wonder it did not sell at the three previous dealerships. The car had to be sold sight-unseen. I take care of my vehicles which the attached photo of my 20-year-old Honda Accord supports.
Under dealer Hyundai warranty...had to be replaced. They did not pay.... Still havent gotten money for repair or car rental....PLEASE STAY away from hyundai cars.... They arent customer reliable... Dont.
The last time I had my car serviced, it was at 24000 miles and the service person said my tires need to be changed. Tell me why my $42.000 Genesis should need tires. We only do local driving. Im not very happy.
Second week after purchase, the rpm needle dropped below 500 rpm a few times almost stalling the engine, then rough idle. I took it to the shop. Diagnostic said they found nothing. The 2nd time in was for abnormal rough idle, when in drive at a stop or when air con on. I had sales rep, finance mgr. and service mgr. involved with getting a resolve. I was told nothing was found. The third time, car was worse. I had sales rep and service mgr. both sit in the car to experience what I was talking about. The service mgr. took the car for a ride, came back and said, Yes, there is a problem (even a passenger can feel the vibration). But I was told by the service mgr. when picking up the car that Hyundai is aware of situation and that some Elantras out there would have rougher idle than others. This was characteristic of the car and that if they can find a solution for it later on down the road, I would be contacted. Does this make sense? Really?! I had the general mgr. (Mike **) at McCafferty Hyundai contact corp. yesterday, 4/26. I was told that they dont have an answer and if they find one, they will let me know. I was promised great service and the world, but have had frustration to the point of not sleeping. We purchased this car coming out of a used one so that we would not have any issues for a few years. If they are aware of this as Don ** (service mgr.) told me that Hyundai Corp. Service tech told him, why cant I get satisfaction? I feel like I got ripped off big time. We even purchased the extended warranty. All I get now is, Im sorry, there is nothing we can do at this time. My intelligence is undermined by saying to consider it part of the characteristics of the car. What kind of product are they putting out there? The greatest frustration of it all is that the rentals I had every time the car was in the shop were the same cars and none had this issue, and I even told them this. I just want my car fixed or find me one that does not have this issue. My first payment is coming up and I dont know what to do. Keep making payments on a car that malfunctions? I was told that they could probably trade me out of the car, but that now, its considered a used car. Is that crazy? I lose no matter what. Help me please!
