It was in decent condition and within my budget range. I like the gold color and its good on gas. Its reliable and comfortable enough to get to and from where I need to be. Otherwise, its an average car with average features and has some issues, but thats typical for a used car. Maintenance is expensive, I wish it wasnt as much to upkeep. Its also an older car, so its features work but are pretty dated. Also, the beige upholstery is god awful and dated.
My daughter purchased a certified pre owned 2013 Sonata limited turbo. She took it to have regular maintenance, so she took good care of the car. On February 2017 she was driving down the road when she heard a noise from under the hood, so her friend told her to pull over so he could check it out, when he lifted up the hood there was a red glow. He immediately told her to get out of the car. Within an minute her car was engulfed in flames. The car burnt so bad, all that was left was the trunk of the car. Had he not told her to pull over my daughter and her friend would have died in that car.She notified Hyundai about this. For one because it was still under warranty and two her car burnt to the ground for no reason out of nowhere. They took about 2 months to get back to her and when they did they only offered her what they call fair market value, which was way lower than what she paid for the car. With what they offered she couldnt even touch the kind of car she had and is still making payments on. They were rude and the one guy hung up on me when I got upset with his attitude. We have called repeatedly trying to talk to someone in charge but to no avail. We have heard from a friend of hers that someone on Facebook has had their car go up in flames also. Hyundai does not stand by their product and they also have the worse customer relations that I have ever experienced. Never ever would I recommend buying a Hyundai car.
I purchased a 2006 Hyundai Sonata in December 2010. A month later, the airbag light on the dash came on. I took it back and they re-set something. I drove off and about a mile down the road, the light came back on. I took it back and was told the problem was the PSGR seat cushion, and would cost $900.00 to fix. The warranty I bought did not cover this and the dealership would not fix it. I was not about to spend more money on this car, so I have just been driving with the light on. I started doing some research and found that there was a recall on 2006 Sonata for its airbag. I called and was told my 2006 was not part of that recall, yet its a 2006 Sonata; I dont get it.
I have paid all of my car payments on time for the life of the loan and when I go to make my last and final payment I see that it says past due 30 days? Statement says due date Aug 19, 2018 so I go ahead and make a payment with the representative over the phone Aug 23, 2018. She could not give me an explanation as to why it says past due when the statement says otherwise. I ask to speak to a supervisor who of course was unavailable and was told I would receive a call back. Never happened. It has not been reported to my credit bureau negatively. I am in the middle of a home loan which will now be greatly affected. It would be nice for a call back to have this rectified.
Bought my 2nd Hyundai 2 months ago and have yet to get them to take care of the pulling problem. They have done an alignment on it once and it still pulls to the left. Ive gone to a dealer closer to me, wasted an hour only to be turned down, saying to go to where I bought it from. Then Ive been trying to schedule with another dealer and they wouldnt even respond to me. 2 weeks ago I submitted a complaint to Hyundai consumer affairs and till this day Ive just been ignored after several email exchanges and a phone call from the rep telling me shell call the dealer for me then nothing again. Ive bought more then 10 new cars before and never did a car maker just ignores my service request like Hyundai. Beware how theyll treat you nice, sell you a $30k car and then kick you to the curbs. Will never buy another Hyundai again.
The car itself is wonderful. I have a hydrogen fuel cell Nexo. The company is terrible. Zero stars. Worst experience. I had my car towed to this location by roadside assistance from Hyundai, due to screw that lodged into my tire, causing it to flatten. This could have been a quick fix and I was told they give roadside tow-ins priority. Hyundai roadside assistance was great but did not check or mention my car model is not serviceable at all locations. I now know. The dealer held my car hostage for 4 days, no call back (left about 6 messages) until we called Sales department on 3rd day, and they spoke rudely to my friend who was trying to help me out (dont call service department they will never pick up or call back, go to sales they will pick up). I decided on the 4th day (Tues morning) after they told me it would be ready by Tuesday morning, to just simply show up and they said it would was not ready and would be ready in 5 hours. So I said I would sit there and wait, and when I finally decided to call another tow truck and told them to pull my car out, they said the tire was there and they were going to fix it now. Funny how that worked out. I also have an app on my phone that tells me the location of the car. It somehow was in SF not in Richmond when I checked on Saturday, but was back in the dealership on Sunday. Not sure if someone took it for a joyride, but after the non-communication, I wouldnt put it past them. Avoid this place at all cost. I love the Nexo, hate Hyundai the company and will be selling my car soon to avoid this headache again.
Had to use Hyundai roadside assistance on my 2019 Ioniq to get the car from my home to the dealer. This process was easy and efficient and I give them 5 stars. After a day, local service dept. called and said I need a new hybrid battery (after only 2 years!!) and they are out of stock with no ETA. This dealer has no loaner car program so I am stuck without transportation. Called Corporate Hyundai and now awaiting a callback. Have had prior issues with the car but were fixed under warranty. Jury is out on how Hyundai will help me out. Not happy with the quality of the car since it wasn’t cheap.
I called the Hyundai Corporate to ask about known issues with cars like mine. The lady advised me that they have not received any complaints or issues from customers regarding the issues I am having. I advised her that I have read a lot of reviews like I am having. I have noticed that if I hit the least bump in the road my car shifts almost like its about to lose control and does not ride the best either. Also sounds like grinding when stopping like brakes or rotors. Im just hoping we can get the word to the right ones about our concerns! We need to be assured that our vehicles are safe! If anyone knows how or who to contact about this please respond. Thanks.
Second week after purchase, the rpm needle dropped below 500 rpm a few times almost stalling the engine, then rough idle. I took it to the shop. Diagnostic said they found nothing. The 2nd time in was for abnormal rough idle, when in drive at a stop or when air con on. I had sales rep, finance mgr. and service mgr. involved with getting a resolve. I was told nothing was found. The third time, car was worse. I had sales rep and service mgr. both sit in the car to experience what I was talking about. The service mgr. took the car for a ride, came back and said, Yes, there is a problem (even a passenger can feel the vibration). But I was told by the service mgr. when picking up the car that Hyundai is aware of situation and that some Elantras out there would have rougher idle than others. This was characteristic of the car and that if they can find a solution for it later on down the road, I would be contacted. Does this make sense? Really?! I had the general mgr. (Mike **) at McCafferty Hyundai contact corp. yesterday, 4/26. I was told that they dont have an answer and if they find one, they will let me know. I was promised great service and the world, but have had frustration to the point of not sleeping. We purchased this car coming out of a used one so that we would not have any issues for a few years. If they are aware of this as Don ** (service mgr.) told me that Hyundai Corp. Service tech told him, why cant I get satisfaction? I feel like I got ripped off big time. We even purchased the extended warranty. All I get now is, Im sorry, there is nothing we can do at this time. My intelligence is undermined by saying to consider it part of the characteristics of the car. What kind of product are they putting out there? The greatest frustration of it all is that the rentals I had every time the car was in the shop were the same cars and none had this issue, and I even told them this. I just want my car fixed or find me one that does not have this issue. My first payment is coming up and I dont know what to do. Keep making payments on a car that malfunctions? I was told that they could probably trade me out of the car, but that now, its considered a used car. Is that crazy? I lose no matter what. Help me please!
My wife, 64, was driving out one owner Hyundai Accent on a private road about 15MPH when the airbags suddenly deployed without any impact occurring to the vehicle. My wife received severe bruises on both arms and the face and the windshield was shattered by impact from the passenger side airbag deployment. We were fortunate as she was going very slowly and there was no other traffic... Had she been in busy traffic or on an interstate, there would probably have been a major collision and severe injury or possible death. Hyundai local dealership (Perkins Motors of Colorado Springs) was appraised of the problem but refused to do anything. When we contacted Hyundai HQ consumer affairs we were told that they would send us a packet of papers to be filled out and returned to them. They would then let us know in six or eight weeks whether they would do anything. The car is undriveable... And my wife will never drive it again after the scare she received together with the potential for a much more horrible outcome than actually occurred.Hyundai seems to have no interest in seeing the vehicle and figuring out what may have gone wrong and whether it might be a risk factor for other owners as well, despite the obvious implications of consumer risk when airbags inflate without any cause. I volunteered to haul the car to the local dealership at my own expense and inconvenience and they responded that they would not look at it even if I did so unless I agreed to pay for all repairs in advance. One would think that they would care to find out what might have gone wrong. All in all, it has been a horrible experience and the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Note to all Hyundai owners: I would have to recommend that you NOT drive your vehicles as the potential for a major accident is very real and, like other manufacturers in the past, Hyundai seems to feel no sense of urgency in finding out what the core problem is and fixing it.
I would like to highlight that I have a very bad experience with the quality of tyres Verna is using. Verna was one the cars I always wanted and finally one year back I bought it. However, I did not know that it uses some bad quality tyres. I was travelling from Indore to Pune on 2nd June 2019, when the tyre (Front Left side) of my car (Hyundai verna SX (O)) got burst and I had near escape from death. My spouse got hurt on her head and eyes. I was driving at a speed of maximum 50kmph, as it was a single road, between Rajgurunagar and Chakan. The Front Tyre (left side) suddenly got burst.On contacting the service management of Hyundai and Hankok (tyre manufacturer/dealer), they said it is a cut on the side wall and its not a fault of tyre and denied my request of replacing it. My point is such expensive and big cars who can run at around 140kmph, should have such bad quality tyres and risk life of the customers. OR, should they provide any better reliable and trusted brand. For instance, even I say, there was an impact on tyre, should the tyre easily gets burst. I have another car - Chevrolet Beat and used Bridgestone, MRF for last 10 years not. Have gone on potholes on highways on speed as fast as 100kmp, but never had this experience. This clearly shows the quality of tyres.
I am very unhappy with the broken sun visors now both on my 2006 Sonata. This is unsafe! I had a Toyota prior and no problems bringing it in for fixes and recalls. I called Planet Hyundai and was told they cant help me. This is not a part that normally breaks on any car, so this is a defect in design! Yes Hyundai, take ownership here and fix this! I will keep on complaining until you put it right!
My wife brought our 2008 Hyundai Sonata to the dealer for the annual vehicle State inspection on Monday, January 30, 2012. We purchased this vehicle new at this dealer, and it now has only 30,000 miles. The vehicle failed the inspection due to defective brake lining (brake pads) on both the left and right rear brakes. My inspection, the following day, confirmed that indeed the rear brake pads were almost non-existent while the front pads showed hardly any wear.I have owned many cars in my lifetime and put over 100K miles on many. I have only replaced brakes four times in all these years, but I never on a vehicle with only 30,000 miles. Suspecting a manufacturers defect, I searched the internet for other complaints about the Hyundai rear brakes and found numerous forums on the subject, leading me to agree with the conclusions of others that this is a manufacturers defect and a recall should be issued. I found 29 similar complaints on NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation. To my knowledge, Hyundai is ignoring this obvious safety issue as well as the cost to consumers for repairs that should be unnecessary for low-mileage cars such as ours.I am hoping enough pressure can be brought to bear on Hyundai to issue a recall. I have filed a complaint with NHTSA-ODI, contacted our State Attorney Generals Office, and complained to Hyundais consumer support department.
2006 Hyundai Sonata Airbag System Failures. Very well maintained (for life of vehicle) by top notch local dealer + no accident history - reports Driver Side seat belt buckle err code, Airbag light on/airbag system not activated. Dealer attempted OC3 test-passenger seat voluntary recall issue - could not complete test-buckle error. Replaced buckle assy: same code + light. Dash opened, console removed, driver seat removed: airbag system harness inspection, reset connections - new code appears: drivers belt retractor assy. Replaced belt retractor assy. NO CODE! AND airbag system still not working/airbag light indicator on. Dealer advised this expensive problem is WELL-KNOWN to 06, 07 Sonata owners: sole viable solution=replace air bag system wiring harness. Ordered part # on harness - wrong harness delivered (connectors in wrong location on harness/dont meet up with car connectors. Ordered again, same result (dealership noted - these harnesses arrive with bag torn open (not first mechanic to order it for same problem and outcome). Local Hyundai Territory Engineer (troubleshooter for large problems) asked to visit for discussions - right part #/wrong part. Solution = Ive dealt with this 3x recently and in this area - order this part #. Guess what, new part is $750/double old part cost. New harness reaches into back seat area as well and causes double the labor costs >$1,000. $1K already invested in parts and labor - when faced with another $2K in harness parts & labor & literally they will provide no guarantee this will solve it short term let alone long term.Contacted Hyundai USA for financial assistance - denied due to out of warranty + 2nd owner/not original (how convenient for them). As mentioned, 3x 06 Sonata owners in this territory RECENTLY EXPERIENCED IDENTICAL ISSUES and after getting tough with Hyundai USA, received buy-backs of their cars.
Respected Sir. I am one of your customer Sandeep **. I am working with **. As in service class I had dream of buying Hyundai I10. On 1st Dec 2010, finally I manage to purchase I10. On 3rd Sept, I met with an accident and there was some problem in my car. So, I went to one of your authorized center in Chandigarh (Carizma Hyundai) on 4th Sept. as per them loss was around Rs70,000. As there was breakage of head and they committed me itll be rectified with in 15days. They had provided me with Job Card no: **, Car No: **. It took two months to arrange head. After 2 months, they called me and confirmed we have to put crunch shaft which will cost 30000. So total amount comes to be 100000.
On two occasions during the past three months the battery in my 2011 Sonata Hybrid with 31000 miles has had to be jumpstarted by AAA. After the last incident last week I took the car to the dealer where the car was purchased and the battery was shown to be in perfect condition. I was told that if the dead battery problem occurs again, I should not jump-start the car, but have the car towed in to the dealer for diagnosis. Obviously an electrical problem exists, and towing the car to a Hyundai dealer will obviously be a problem, particularly if I am out of town on a weekend. I dont believe that I should have to bear the cost of travel to my home or hotel costs because of a problem due to a Hyundai fault. Because of this problem, I cannot risk travelling out of town. Please give me some advice to deal with my dilemma. Apart from the MPG issue which I have accepted, THIS is a SAFETY matter that requires a response.
My brand new 2022 leased Hyundai Tucson is quoted to get up to 35 mpg on Hyundais website. I have proof of 14-16 mpg. Dealership wont look at car because a Light isnt on. Manager hung up and general manager said call Hyundai. Another option was to face penalty to turn the lease in and pay to lease another. This car is a lemon and you cant get any help.
I purchased a 2010 Hyundai Elantra in August of 2010 with 11 miles on it. I now have 53,000 miles on the car. In January this year, when I had about 45,000 miles on the car, I noticed my clutch is dropping to the floor and I cant put the car into gear. It does not happen every single time I change gears, but it is happening several times a day now. In Feb 2011, they changed the hydraulic fluid, which did nothing and cost me $190.00. The car has been in for service about 4 times now, I believe. 2 days ago, it was towed to Hyundai because I was backing out of a parking spot and my car stalled and would not start back up. But the next morning, it started right up for Hyundai. All they did was test drive my car and it did not happen to them. It happened to my dad 2 times within six miles last night and 3 times on me today.The clutch drops to the floor and I cant put it in gear. I have to double clutch and it usually goes into gear the second time. My daughter is 4 years old and Im afraid to put her in my car because of this problem. I noticed it happens more so on turns up or down hill. I have come close to several different cars rear-ending me because I never know when my car is going to let me change gears or not. I cant afford to get a new car, I already tried. Im extremely upset and angry with Hyundai because every time they get my car, nothing is done and I get it back the same exact way. All they say is it has not happened for us so they cant try to fix it until they feel the problem. They have never heard of such a thing happening either. This car is not safe for me to drive and Hyundai is OK with that.
Veloster is the worst car I have owned. The car is only two years old and I have had a list of problems with the car. The water pump was replaced at 3000 miles. I have had problems with the sunroof since day one, with car as well. I have also had the fuel pump, fuel rail, catalytic converter, front hub and axle replaced as well. Now today my navigation & radio went on the car. I have made complaints to corporate Hyundai and left numerous calls with no callback. Not only do they make a poor car, their customer service is just as bad.
We were prepared to pay cash for the car on 12/31/11, but we were told that we would get $500 more off the car if we financed and then we could pay it off. So before we received the coupon book, we sent in an estimated amount for the purchase price plus estimated interest. The next month we received a bill for $11.23 for the difference of additional finance charges which we paid. For the past week, the autodial collection people have called us at least 15 times (over 5 times on 3/26), looking for the monthly payment of $839. Finally, my husband was on hold for over 20 minutes waiting to speak to a supervisor who said our account was paid in full. We have continued to get calls since then for the same thing. On 3/37, we got 2 more calls. I am not that happy with the car to begin with. The gas mileage is way under what was represented. After the experience with the finance people, I will never buy another Hyundai. Also, the phone representatives were rude and the auto-dialer put us on hold several times after we answered the phone. What kind of customer service is that?
We have two Hyundais, loved one and got another (Santa Fe). Well built, good gas mileage, comfortable, nice looking and good resale value, good warranty. If I could afford the Genesis it would be my next car.
I own a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. On September 29, 2021, I had my oil changes. I was a thousand miles early but the oil light had come on. I asked the service station to check why my car was lagging when driving. Ive been going to the same place for years to get my car oiled. Not a Hyundai dealership. He told me that my engine is ruined due to the engine burning oil, the tip of the oil dipstick was burnt. I left to go home and my car died. I had it towed to the closest Hyundai Dealership which is the dealership in Palatine, IL.The next day I went to the dealership and dealt with Kyle ** (Im not completely sure that is his last name). Kyle is at the front desk of the service area. Kyle told me its probably going to take a month and a half & I should rent a car and Hyundai will pay $40 a day. I rented a car from September 30- November 1. On Monday, October 7, 2021 Kyle texted me and said they are looking for Update/recall 953 ECM, & said the recall was not done so my car does not qualify for the warranty. He took less than 30 seconds to tell me my car was trash & he’s just telling me what he’s been told & that I should contact Consumer Affairs!!! It wasn’t a big deal to him!! I take very good care of my car, I have all receipts for the service I have had done on my car from the places Ive had my car worked on. Needless to say I was so upset and not happy with that answer, my car has 68,000 miles on it.I have the phone number of the salesmen I bought the car from in 2014, at McGrath City Hyundai in Chicago, IL. His name is Frank, I called him and he agreed to help me since I received really poor customer service at the Palatine dealership. Kyle was less than professional or helpful. On one of the visits I made to the Palatine dealership he was so disrespectful, as he was walking away and his back was to me he said get your car out of here or Ill charge you for storage. I did let him know I was now going to be working with Frank who was going to work on my behalf through the Gurnee Dealership.Kyle was not going to let me get things out of my car until I paid $165 in diagnostic fees. I was told I didnt owe any money. Kyle did call me back and told me I dont owe anything. I can get belongings out of my car. On October 13th Frank told me he was going to have my car towed the next day, October 15th Frank said I have to call Palatine and pay a $100 fee Palatine would not release the car to Frank at his Gurnee, IL. location. I went and signed a release and was told no charge.On October 19th Frank said they were busy at his dealership and couldnt get my car. On October 20th I texted Frank & He said hed call me in 20 minutes, I never received the call. On October 22nd I sent Frank a text telling him I didnt want to bother him but I need some answers. He replied in the text that he was on the phone with Hyundai, he would text me in 5 minutes. He was almost done, never texted me. On Monday, October 23rd I texted Frank to see what was happening. He replied in a text shortly and never called or texted. On Wednesday, October 27th I sent Frank a text asking him or telling him if he cant help me please just be honest, I am desperate for answers. He emailed me back saying they just emailed him 2 hours ago that they have a conference call at 9 the next day. He said hed have a definite answer by noon, he never called me back.Frank told me about updates being done. When they are received has to be done in a certain time frame. Even if Im not aware of the updates, I didnt get notices on all the updates. Frank then gave me a phone number to get reimbursed for the rental Customer Service Specialist 714-887-2553 I have left several messages and I am not getting a return call. He had e email him the receipts. Here it is November 8th, Im no better off than I was September 29th! Frank is now at The Gurnee dealership. I called the Gurnee dealership to find out Franks last name and the person on the phone said he was new and didnt know his last name. I do have cell phone numbers for both gentlemen. I started working with Frank on October 7th. I really thought Frank was going to help me with my car and I appreciated him saying he was going to help me but he really just wasted time and I do wish he wouldve been honest with me and told me he cant help me. I had sent Frank my drivers license, bill of sales & known updates done at a Highland Park, IL. dealership. I have copies of text messages.Consumer Affairs did call me once, I missed the call they said they would call back and they have not. I am amazed how uncaring and unprofessional this company is. I have left several messages with no response. I am so tired of Hyundai taking advantage of me. I will NEVER buy or recommend to anyone buy a Hyundai. I have never experience a situation as bad as this in my life. Hyundai is not a stand up corporation in my eyes. They are failures. TOTALLY TAKING ADVANTAGE!
Hyundai prides itself in its reliability. I have a 2011 Hyundai Sonata I purchased in March of 2010. I have had nothing but problems. Within the first year, my engine began overheating due to a faulty radiator fan. This was replaced under warranty. Less than a year later, my engine began overheating a 2nd time. The dealer refused to warranty because there were more than 10,000 miles put on the vehicle since the original fan was replaced . About three months later, the car would not start while sitting in a parking lot. This was related to a faulty brake sensor. Most recently, 6 months later, the vehicle would not start because of a failed starter requiring a tow truck. A 2011 vehicle should not have this many problems. I am extremely disappointed in Hyundai and am looking to sell it in the very near future. I travel for business, and need a reliable means of transportation. I urge possible consumers to use caution before purchasing a Hyundai vehicle.
I recently and painfully purchased a new elantra limited. Painfully, because of all the runaround I encountered and despite having researched extensively, still having gotten screwed financially. Dont look for any fairness at Hyundai in Pittsburgh, cause they wear you out with the run around, even if youre trading in a Hyundai sonata that was supposed to keep its value. The sale price for the car may be $21000, but it ended up costing me over $25000 with a trade in. And should I be upset about having blowout flat tire at 533miles, especially when both Hyundai and the tire manufacturer Hankook both deny the defectiveness of their cheap tires? It appears that since Hyundai is dependent on the dealerships to sell their cars, they are Willing to give them some slack on dishonoring the warranties, including on their defective tires. Defective tires can lead to accidents and death! I suppose it will take a certain amount of death to occur before Hyundai takes some action like GM had to. I thought Hyundai was better than that, but apparently not!
If i could give this place negative stars I would. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.. This place is the effing worst. I get a notice of a recall on my car so I make an appointment to bring my car stating that this is for a recall ... The lady takes my info ... vin number and all tells me exactly what I need done... I have to take the day off of work to get the service done only to find out that day they dont even have the part available. You would think someone would of called me beforehand . I had reschedule. .. I take it back on my scheduled date only to be told Oh this is an all day thing youll have to bring it back another day. I informed the guy as calm as I could that this is the second time Im here for this same issue I was scheduled to come in why wouldnt they again tell me this over the phone. He asks me can you leave it over night. I told him I was prepared to leave and have a ride home waiting... As long as I can get it back before Monday Ill be good. He said yeah itll be ready tomorrow. Ill call you. Never got a call back. That was Saturday. Today is Sunday Im calling like crazy to get a status on my car only to find out they are closed today. So unprofessional. I will never deal with this place again. Im finding out info on how to complain to corporate.

We cannot use it because our cell phone will not stay paired to it.Hyundai cannot tell us what cell phones are compatible and can offer no solution to the problem. Spoke with dealer and Hyundai . Seems they have a system which can’t be used..
Bought a 2014 Hyundai Accent hatchback. During the purchase I was upsold extended warranty (BIG mistake $2600). All was fine until snow fell. Bottom of the car, which is covered with what appears to be black cardboard, began peeling off. Apparently driving in the snow is considered reckless driving and not covered by warranty. If you live anywhere there is snow, do not purchase vehicles from countries that do not have such weather. And definitely do not purchase extended warranties!
On Memorial Day, I purchased a Hyundai Tucson Sport AWD 1.6L Turbo. This is my first time purchasing a Hyundai and I really made the purchase because of the warranty. Now I am having buyers remorse. The vehicle I purchased drives great on the highway, but is not easy to drive in city traffic. I experience a lot of hesitation and jerkiness when pressing on the gas pedal to accelerate from a complete stop. I have complained about this to the dealer and was told I need to get used to the gas pedal because that is the nature of the turbo engine. I have also experienced a lot of static on FM radio stations. The owners manual mentions that static does not mean there is anything wrong with the radio, it is just a poor signal coming to the car due to distance from the tower or perhaps trees or buildings blocking the signal. I have even experienced outages when I tune into XM stations using Sirius. I will get silence for up to three minutes. The dealer told me to bring it in at my convenience and they will check out the radio, but I have a feeling if it does not act up while they have it, they will just re-iterate what the owners manual says. I have never had these issues with any of my previous vehicles, so I think these are design issues with this model. I am not a happy Hyundai owner to say the least.
The car is very durable but it makes noises on transmission changes especially when the eco boost is on. The dealership I went to was great. The salesperson was very knowledgeable on the car and the process was easy. The car was everything I was looking for with a little bit of an upgrade. Some things werent clear like how to update the nav system. The touch screen is not very responsive depending on if you are the driver or the passenger. The eco really does save on gas but it makes the change even slower when speeding up or slowing down.
In short: Hyundai has come a long way. As a Honda loyalist, I was nervous about choosing a brand with a history of reliability issues. I test drove every Hybrid sold in the US and much to my surprise, the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid came out on top of the many categories I laid out for myself. Hyundai really took the time to design the ergonomics, style, feature-set, and accommodations for this car, which I fell in love with. My dealer made buying one simple, straightforward, and pressure-free.In Detail: CABIN: After driving the gamut of hybrids available in the US (Fusion, Prius [+ IV, C & V], Civic, Avalon, Camry, Accord, Volt, Crosstrek, CR-Z, C-Max...) I was finally talked into at least test driving the Sonata Hybrid. My partner had a 2012 Sonata that was recently totaled, (air bags deployed, driver and passenger safe and unharmed) that we both liked a lot, so I put my brand loyalty and pride aside to appease this silly recommendation. I got in and almost immediately fell in love (with the cabin, at least). Bluetooth connectivity, Pioneer audio w/ subwoofer, 8 screen, automatic dual-zone climate control, 4 in-dash LCD screen, push-start engine, heated leather seats, contemporary (if not ultra-modern) dash design, roomy front and rear seats, tons of storage space, and an overall feeling of luxury car enveloped you the moment you sat down. The real over-the-top, wow-factor element was the panoramic sunroof with an automatic curtain system... it was just, wow.TEST DRIVE: The dealership gave me the keys and said, Well see you when we see you. Instant acceleration? Absolutely. Hybrid? No way. This Hyundai Sonata Hybrid (HSH) drove like a dream. Smooth, peppy, sporty, yet luxurious. I took it around for an hour or so and decided that it was going to be pushed to the top of my contenders list. It felt more comfortable than most of the other cars I had test driven and felt less like a Hybrid than all of them (thank you 6-speed transmission). After a day of driving other cars, the HSH felt like a retreat into a luxury condo. Everything about the car seemed to say to me, How can I make you more comfortable? How can I make this drive more exciting for you? What more can I do for you today. This car was definitely built from the drivers seat outward.RESEARCH: I was under no pressure to buy a car, so I took my time, researched all of my options and test drove every car that fit my basic parameters. As a car guru, I know most things about most cars, so my researched was aimed at filling in the gaps (i.e. owner experience, changes between 2012 and 2015 HSHs, recalls, future model introduction [at the time of my purchase, the 2016 HSH had been announced, which did encourage me to buy sooner than later, considering the design change was, in my opinion, moving backwards], dealership issues, etc). I joined the Hyundai forum for Sonata Hybrids and extensively read through threads describing issues specific to the HSH I was considering.PURCHASE: After several weeks of consideration and re-test driving the cars that made the top of my list, I finally decided that the 2015 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Limited w/ Ultimate Package was the car for me. Then the fun began. I called every Hyundai dealership in the Tri-State Area (VA-DC-MD) getting price quotes, availability, and dealer-specific incentives. I knew that I wanted to buy from Alexandria Hyundai, but after seeing their price match guarantee, I decided Id get the best deal possible, then have Alexandria Hyundai match it. The car at the time had an MSRP ~$33,500 (the limited package added upgraded tech, leather seats, some aesthetic features; the ultimate package added the panoramic sunroof and the Pioneer Stereo system) and I was in the market for something under $27,500. With the new 16 being released in the coming month and gas prices having plummeted, dealers seemed exceptionally willing to slash prices for almost any reason. To cut to the chase, I was able to have two Southern VA dealers battle it out to get my car down to $24,500 out the door (OTD). I was exceptionally happy with that price, brought the lowest quote to Alexandria Hyundai, and they said they would match it. They had the exact car I wanted, so I was ready to buy. I didnt haggle much from that point, because their dealership incentives were far better than any of the others (free car washes, free oil changes and tires for life, free inspections, free loaner with major service, etc). After going through the paperwork, which was a smooth transition, the car was mine (at least physically). Everything about the car was explained to me and I left a very happy consumer. 20,000 mi. UPDATE: Having had the car for 2 years, I am incredibly happy with the car itself and Alexandria Hyundai. Ive had very few services, but each time I brought my car in, I was treated very well and work was completed efficiently. The car drives like it did when I drove it off the lot that first day, with some minor wear in conspicuous places (the SONATA printed on the floor mat is less silver than it was back then). Id recommend Hyundai for consideration to friends and family; Id especially recommend the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid; and Id INSIST that if they were buying one, they go to Alexandria Hyundai in Northern Virginia.FINE PRINT: I bought the diamond white pearl model because its 10x more luxurious than the other colors. Its gorgeous enough to rival my friends Lexus RX-350 hybrid. Im still very much enamored with my car and think that 2 years later it is still one of the most attractive vehicles on the road. I am constantly told that my car looks brand new, looks and feels like a luxury car, and is sooo quiet.
On Sunday the 22nd of February at 7:45 Eastern Standard time I received a phone call from legal services saying that my car needs to be picked up, and by the state of Massachusetts I had to surrender my vehicle. I am delinquent in a payment, so I figured if I cooperate and let them take my vehicle, we would be able to work things out. Today is Thursday the 26th of February and my car is still in a tow company parking lot, while these people take their sweet time on telling me whether or not Im approved for a reinstatement. The representatives are by far rude, and no assistance. I cant even explain myself without one of them saying maam, you’re going to have to wait.” These people have no record of that man calling me on Sunday, they don’t know what happened. So, to them I basically willingly gave up my car. Hyundai was one of the only dealerships that was willing on assisting me with a car, but now I feel like maybe this was the wrong dealership to do business with.
I was in a head-on collision in my 2004 Hyundai Elantra. I had my seat belt on, and I was the driver. My air bag light came on, but my air bag did not release. I suffered a great amount of pain, because my knees hit the steering wheel very hard.
My daughter was in an accident in October 2015 with the Hyundai Elantra. The airbags did not deploy, the whole front end was crushed in, and car was totaled. I made a claim with Hyundai in October 2015, sent all documents they required, was told I would hear something week after thanksgiving and heard nothing. I feel like they are avoiding me and the problem with their car. All three sensors were hit in the accident.
DO NOT BUY A PALISADE!!! We’ve had our Palisade for four months. We love the features and ride but had it back to the dealership five times because of excessive winds noise at highway speeds (> 50 mph) noticeable in the front seats. The dealership pressure tested the cabin, replaced door seals, and checked door alignment. Finally, they removed the side view mirrors and determined the whistling sound is wind turbulence from the mirrors after a test drive. The dealership has been great but Hyundai refuses to acknowledge the issue. We opened a case with Hyundai but their case manager said there is no design flaws so there is nothing they can do. I just want a brand new $50K vehicle to act like a $50K vehicle. DO NOT BUY A PALISADE!!!
I received a letter from Hyundai with the promise of ten $1.00 gold coins if I went to my local Hyundai dealer on specific days. I did bring the letter as I was told and spoke to the person from Hyundai that was handling that promotion. Although I did not buy a car that day, I was told that the gold coins would be mailed to me in 7-10 business days. It has been over three weeks and I have not seen any coins yet. This deal was at King Hyundai in Deerfield Beach, Florida. I really feel that this is a real come on and false advertising. I am not sure I would return to this dealer (although I have bought a car from them before) and I am not sure I care to buy another car from them when I decide to buy. Hopefully, you can straighten out this problem and send me the money I am entitled to.
I made an initial request for a warranty on the defective drivers side seat of my 2010 Hyundai Sonata with 15,000 miles on its odometer. The seat which collapsed in on itself has allowed metal beneath seat cushion to protrude upward causing uncomfortable and unsafe driving condition for driver. Hyundai has refused to replace the defective seat after three attempts on my behalf and has denied my third request, stating it is considered normal wear and tear. How could this be when the vehicle is only 2 years old ? I am requesting now from you, a fourth time, to replace the defective seat before I take further action. I hope you will stand by your product and warranty of which I am otherwise very happy with and reconsider my request to warranty the defective seat. Thank you for your help.
I was told that I would get towed within an hour. I called 2 times to see why they hadnt showed up. Each time they said it would be another hour. 3 1/2 hours later the tow truck arrived. He said that he just received the call. I asked if AAA would have been quicker, and he said yes that I would have gotten help right away.
Leased my third Hyundai in February, 2020 one month early because my dealer had the SUV that we wanted. Turned in 2017 Sonata and owed a total of $1,600.00 for mileage and last month. Paid 3 weeks early and they said it hasn’t been paid. I sent a copy of bank check, front and back to Hyundai finance that was cashed. I’ve called five times and they don’t know where the money was applied. It’s coming up on three months past due per Hyundai finance. My credit rating has went from 800 to 640. I’ve contacted the Better Business Bureau and the dealer. I will never buy/lease another Hyundai again. Once my lease is up, I will be returning the vehicle and leasing a different vehicle, if my credit is repaired by then. My last resort is contacting my attorney if I get nowhere with Better Business Bureau or the dealer. This has been a nightmare and I would advise staying away from Hyundai and their financial department.
My Hyundai Veloster 2012 was burning oil. After an oil change my mechanic noticed this period went in this Sahni Hyundai in Culver City. They are trained to blame me when it turned out to be a defect in the engine. They dont offer a loaners and the service manager is a total jerk. Im gonna need a loaner car or rent and I heard that they dont reimburse you. This is wrong if Hyundai has a defective car.
My car only got 7,000 KM. The trouble with my Elantra, my battery goes dead and have been boosted twice and another time it went completely dead. Had it towed to the nearest dealer. This is a new Hyundai Elantra Limited when it had less than 6,000 KM it started but I had a 2012 which I had the same problems, so I traded for another one. I was told my 2012 had a ground issue. Now I know that I been lied to. Going to my dealer he tell me that the alternator is a low amperage alternator to save weight, and I should consider getting a solar panel and plug it in my cigarette lighter to charge my car. Now I drive some days around 20 KM which should be plenty to charge the battery, and I hardly use any electronics, like listen to the news 20 minutes. Now I dont trust this car because I dont know when Im going to be stranded. Now my Elantra got 7,000 KM and I dont dare to play the radio even to listen to the news, should I get a portable radio with batteries and a solar panel. By the way, once every two weeks I go on a 200Km ride. People are telling me Im being lied to. I have since notified Hyundai head office in Ontario, the phone # is in one of the manuals that I got with the car. Its been two months and no reply yet. They got my email address. Wont even send me an email, so I call again today.October/24/2014, I purchase this car I believe April/9/2014. This car is like you say new, I purchase an extended warranty which I told them I had purchase one from GM and it was worthless. $2400 and they told me that they werent GM, that you could trust Hyundai and they stick to their warranty. It was about a little bit over $1600. My, I dont know what to believe. Am I told lies? We will soon find out and Im about ready to go throughout my iPad just what the problems are about my warranty. I hope its not another lie.
I am a soldier and have been in the army for over 20 years, been deployed to 3 tours. I purchased a 2009 Hyundai Azera Limited addition, with Satellite radio and GPS Navigation package, etc. I was looking between Toyota and Hyundai. I leaned Hyundai way because of the 100K warranty. I was thinking that is a great warranty until very recently when I actually needed the warranty. I did not maintain a book to track my oil changes, etc. I did an oil change in late Oct and purchased an aftermarket oil filter from AutoZone and Synthetic Oil. My wife was driving last week and she said the oil light came on briefly, then the Service engine light came on, then the car stopped running. The car has 88K miles on it and when I checked the oil and it was a little less than a quart low. The oil was not even dirty. I took it to the service dept of Hyundai in Lawton, Oklahoma and they are saying they will not honor the 100K warranty because I don’t have records. I tried to explain that I am a soldier and bought the car in El Paso while stationed at Fort Bliss, but it is a pretty sure bet that they are going to leave me high and dry on this. I have purchased 3 different Hyundais from them and this is the first time I needed to test the warranty. Looks like the 100k warranty sounds good on paper but if they dont honor it, I would have went somewhere else. I know I could go to the military Jag to attempt to get legal advice but Im sure Hyundai has much more money than I have so they could play the technicality cards all day and Im basically screwed. I can assure you I will never buy another Hyundai. I called the Cooperate office and am waiting for an answer back but Im really expecting to get the same answer as the local Service Dept. I really hope Hyundai will do the right thing. I have put my life on the line for this country and never expected to be treated like this from them.
2012 Accent - My air con quit. Had 2 different mechanics look at it. Both recharged the AC and it still did not work. 2nd mechanic told me the problem is a control module in the computer and if the car is less than 5 years old and mileage under 100 k the problem is fixed under warranty. Called Hyundai. They checked my VIN. It was originally put on the road April 25, 2012... Is the computer programmed to fail just after warranty? It probably was not working then, however not a time of year I would use. Have been told 800 - 1000 to fix???
I have leased 2011 Genesis Coupe Vehicle id: **, returned car last December (2013), after I received an invoice with $400 dispossession fee. I called to dispute this charge since we couldnt remember any reference to this charge; I asked for the copy of the lease. The lease did show the fee next to the column with the total amount. However, the charge shows as the total amount rather than a separate charge.After few attempts and being on hold for long period of time, the recovery department was not willing to consider the circumstances and make an adjustment or to handle us as valued customers. Rather, they made disingenuous comments like we do not make any exceptions and no one ever receive credit for this fee was an answer I received from one of the customer service representatives. The recovery department did not show any sign of sympathy or understanding and furthermore, did not show signs of any of willingness to negotiate or to hear us out to consider the situation.I have leased 2 other cars from Infinity and we had same issue with dispossession fee. After presenting the issue with our points to the finance department they have reduced it down by more than 50%. This is an example of companies who are willing to help their customers and promote them to stay loyal to their brand willingness to compromise. And here are the points of my argument: 1. Hyundai or the dealer did not highlight the fees term, or made it noticeable at any time prior to this invoice. 2. We have returned the car with substantial lower mileage (25,419 instead of 36,000). 3. We were told by Hyundais Finance department that the fee would be waived if we leased or purchased another Hyundai vehicle. 4. We will be leasing or purchasing 2 vehicles in the near future (90 days).5. Customer satisfaction.I believe its fair to consider waiving or at least substantially reduce the fee for the compelling reasons mentioned above. Unfortunately the recovery department failed to acknowledge and handle the issue in a business manner. Thus, I am writing this letter to try and correct a problem before it changes our mind on Hyundai as car we purchase.
I was in a car accident yesterday. I hit a deer head on going 70 mph. My airbag never deployed and the deer took out my entire front and shoved the engine or engine block back. The car (2010 Hyundai Elantra) is being totaled and no one can tell me why the air bag did not deploy. I spent the morning in the ER and have a concussion, bruises and pain from the impact of hitting the steering wheel. I called Hyundai and they want me to fill out an information packet for them. The car has only been serviced by a Hyundai dealer. First responders to tow truck drivers cannot believe the airbag did not work.
Hyundai has the worst leasing programs in the business. Do not fall for their lease plan. My wife turned her Equis recently. The car was 12,000 miles under so she thought she was fine. She had the Hyundai dealer wash the car when she took it in for an oil change. They used a pressure washer and took some of the pearl white off the plastic bumper. The manager said they have had issues with this paint and not to worry. Hyundai sent a person out to look at her car and write it up. She wrote down the paint issue. She said it needed a new tire. The tire in question was well within the safe range. Note that this vehicle was known to have under equipped tires on them and she kept the same when she replaced them. After 24,000 miles she had purchased two sets of tires. The Equis was their top of the line vehicle and their bottom of the line vehicles had more bells and whistles on them. My wife had asked before purchasing the vehicle about all of the things like bluetooth and was assured it had it but the salesman didnt know how to work it. That was a lie. She went back the day after purchasing the vehicle and was told Too bad, were sorry. Cant do anything about it. I will say it was the best driving vehicle weve had and I did enjoy it. The problem was the Hyundai Lease, they lie, cheat and dig into your back pocket. DO NOT LEASE THROUGH HYUNDAI. Purchase the vehicle outright or find another lease option. My wife showed the Texas Hyundai Lease manager her original correspondence and how Hyundai Lease didnt get back to her the first week she had it. They do not care about you, just the money.We are waiting on a recall for the white paint to get our money back. Tire places including the dealership said the tire in question was within code. The dealership said they would have waived all of the issues Hyundai Lease found. Remember, youre getting the car from a dealership but youre dealing with Hyundai underhand Lease.
First item was dash storage compartment that did not work, this was fixed, Chrome tailpiece rusted within 3 months, dealer ordered wrong part to repair, had to take tailpiece and muffler off of courtesy car. Door molding worn through after 3 months from just entering vehicle. (Flimsy and thin compared to my other vehicle.) Poor gas mileage. 4 cylinder is underpowered for mountain driving. Vehicle has stalled while driving on street at 30mph.
I just bought a 2016 Tucson. From I bought that Car I have been going back and forth to the shop with different issues. The AC or heat was not working. The latch of hood needed to be replace and now the cruise would stop with me stopping the car. I was in the middle of traffic when car stop. I had my young kids in the car when the car would not move. I had to turn off car then turn on for the car to move. The car kept on doing it. I took it to the shop. Now I have to wait 4 weeks to get my car back cause Hyundai dont know whats the problem. But yet still I was told several people complaining about same issue. If you have a 2016 Tucson please be careful. Its not safe.
My family purchased a brand new Hyundai Tucson 2017 in October of 2017. It had sudden engine failure. It has now been more than 30 days since the car is in the shop and no one helps or has said anything. Under the NJ Lemon Law this car is now a lemon. Hyundai Corporate is deplorable as well. They are essentially useless and less than professional. Buying this car was a horrible mistake. I would NEVER recommend Hyundai or this kind of aggravation to even my worse enemy. I am so disappointed. I have never in my life experienced such poor customer service.
I recently purchased a 2014 Hyundai Sonata Limited and have had terrible reception with the AM radio. The FM and Satellite radio work fine but all of the AM stations have heavy static. Unfortunately, I listen to AM stations regularly and am very unhappy with their inability to resolve this issue.
Single mother of 3 small children. Barely scraping by only to have my Hyundai that is still under warranty blow the engine. Drop it off at dealership and was told a week till they could look at it. It’s been a month! And $1400 in rental car fees that I don’t have! Now I am completely without a vehicle and NO ONE, not consumer affairs, case manager, service dept itself can give me at the very least an ETA on when I can have my car back. Pathetic way to run a company. The guy who sold me this lemon at Hyundai of Fort Myers, the people refusing to call me back at Gainesville Hyundai and Corporate Hyundai who basically just say “I’m sorry” but have no solution. I want to thank you for putting my job on the line and leaving me and my kids stranded. I will never buy another Hyundai again!!
We purchased a new 2017 Hyundai Sonata. The car is still under warranty. In 2020 my wife called and said the oil light was on. I told her to pull over and check the oil. She said there was no oil on the stick. She added two quarts of oil and it was still below the low mark on the stick. I did research and found several class action lawsuits against Hyundai regarding faulty engines dating back to approx. 2010. Here we are 8 years later and dealing with the same issue. We called our dealership and they said we needed bring in the car for an oil consumption test. They changed the oil and charged us for it. The oil consumption test consist of returning to the dealership every thousand miles for 3000 miles so they can check how much oil the engine is using. The final result was the engine burns 3/4 quarts of oil per 1000 miles and that is considered normal by Hyundai.Hyundai recommends changing oil every 7500 miles. This means we will need to add 6 quarts of oil to the car between oil changes. Again this car is under warranty and Hyundai calls this normal. We were told however, Hyundai does sell a $600 product we could add to the oil and perhaps it would consume less oil. The bottom line is I have a car under warranty, using 6 quarts of oil between oil changes and this is normal. My 2006 Chrysler Town and Country has 314,000 miles on it. I change the oil every 7000 miles. I add 1 quart of oil between oil changes.Simply put, do not buy a Hyundai product. Take a look on the internet and you will see a long history of engine issues that continue to plague Hyundai owners. I called Hyundai and talked to Lindsay. She was a snobby customer service rep. who told me I needed to talk to Walser to get anything done to repair this car. So goes the circle. Keep an eye open as I assume there will be another class action suite soon.
I purchased a 2013 Hyundai Elantra Limited with all the bells and whistles. The Elantra comes 17 inch tires when you order the Limited. The 17 inch tires are also very low profile tires (45). The day I purchased the car was a cold and rainy day last November. When I test drove the car the roads were wet. On dry pavement the road noise started at about 35 MPH and gets so loud you have to turn up the radio just to hear it. NOT what you would expect from a $25000 car. I have complained about it to Hyundai - they authorized me to have the tires replaced with better quality tires - which I did and the problem still existed. Hyundai admitted there is a problem or they would not have replaced the tires. Many road tests have been done with Hyundai employees and all admit there is excess noise. I am working with the BBB to get Hyundai to buy the car back. Last week Hyundai after admitting there was a problem now wants to deny the claim. The problem is an engineering issue that cant be fixed and this was told to me by Hyundai. Has anyone had luck with the BBB arbitration hearings? I am very disappointed in Hyundai. 2008 Hyundai Elantra - On May 8, 2013, I was driving 38-40 mph on damp road. I swerved to miss an animal and spun 270 degrees. I hit a tree on passenger side door, broke passenger window, moved forward, hit passenger quarter panel and then it went forward and hit front bumper directly center. Neither front nor side airbags deployed, brakes froze (ABS didnt work) and ESC didnt work (received ESC recall notice after accident). It totaled the car. Passenger received lacerations due to glass breakage. Driver and passenger received bumps, bruises, sore neck and body parts. This is a huge safety concern. What can be done about false safety advertising?
I purchased a 2011 Hyundai i20 in May this year. Ever since I purchased the car, I had to send the car back in to Hyundai after a week to get a new clutch master cylinder. A month after, I took the car into Hyundai as the accelerator on the car was getting stuck and jolty (not normal or safe). Hyundai replaced this for me. But after 2 months, the problems started again. I took the car back to Hyundai. I advised them of the occurring problems with the car and Hyundai just lubricated the accelerator. While Hyundai had my car, I took the time to re-test drive another Hyundai i2o from the dealership in Roseville. I explained to the dealership the problems I have with my car. When we took this other Hyundai i20 for a drive, I straight away noticed that the drive of the car was better and smoother. Plus, the whole clutch and accelerator on this car was perfect. When I called the Hyundai head office to advise them of all the problems I have had with my car and the massive difference I felt in the drive of the test drive car, Hyundai advised that they couldn’t do anything about my car. But they told me to keep sending it back to Hyundai each time the same problem occurs. This is not good enough answer. I don’t feel safe driving a car that keeps having the same problems over and over again. I think Hyundai should be replacing my car or should refund me the cost of the car. I would buy a car through a different car company that is reliable. I never expected to have a brand new car with this much problems. Now my car is making tapping noises from the motor. I don’t know what else to do. This car is stressing me out. I can’t keep sending this car back each time this happens. My previous 1979 Chrysler Sigma, which is 31 years old, never had problem like this. The only thing I ever had to replace on that car was a set of brake pads. Please help me. Thanks.
My husband is a full time Uber driver & his income is extremely important for us because with my part time job we can’t afford to pay the our bills. Everything was quite good since he drove Hyundai Ioniq hybrid 2017 which helped us a lot to spend less on fuel but one day suddenly the car stopped without any warning sign and the Hyundai Kitchener towed it and we were advised that it’s a recall for Hybrid system so we thought it will take a week or two but omg it has been 4 months we didn’t get our car back! Since this car was everything for us and my husband couldn’t do Uber with a rental car it has been 4 minutes we lost the income. He called thousand times for help & complain about the service to Hyundai Canada but they didn’t give a **, instead we were insulted that you should know the rules. We can’t do anything! We talked with a lawyer to sue the company for the income loss but the lawyer said these giant companies are protected by law we can’t help you. Seriously??We bought this brand new car so expensive to face this day? We are facing a lot of problems and the loss of income for four months for a middle class family is the worst thing.. I’m writing this only to inform you people be very careful before purchasing any car from Hyundai, they don’t value their customers and treat you like **.. now I’m not gonna stop this complain and will even call some tv channels to show the reality of this company because the money we bought this car that was our ten years saving and lost everything. I am beyond disappointed and disgusted with the customer service and system that takes place for recall and warranty work. My engine light began flashing Friday morning and I instantly called my “home” dealership to inquire what to do. They said to pull over and not drive it any further and to contact roadside assistance to have it towed to the nearest Hyundai dealership. I did just that. My vehicle is a 2017, but purchased brand new March 2018. I am well under the 100,000 km/ 5 year warranty. Once we arrived at the dealership to get things rolling, I was informed that my vehicle has an engine recall - thanks for the notice in the mail on that one, Hyundai - NOT. So that was a major surprise to hear. I get back to work and receive a phone call from service that my engine failed all diagnostic tests and that I needed a new engine altogether. I confirmed all my services have been done through Sherwood Park Hyundai, so they said, Great, we’ll get them to send over your records and send everything off to Hyundai Canada for approval and get you a rental. I expressed how much I required a rental, as I am 8 months pregnant and my husband is not available to be driving me to and from work. They told me by Monday or Tuesday they would know the status of the engine and we can do the rental car. I had to call Monday afternoon for an update, she informed me that nothing had been approved yet, but by Tuesday we’d know. I once again explain the need for the rental. Received no phone call Tuesday, so at 2:45 pm I called them, again. Once again told Hyundai Canada still didn’t approve the warranty for the engine. Not only is this a RECALL, but I am under warranty. They then said I could pay $40/ day for a rental through them and once warranty was approved, they’d take it over. I asked if I’d be reimbursed, they said no. So Hyundai wants me to not only pay my bi-weekly payments on a vehicle I can’t drive, but also pay out of pocket for a rental when it should have already been dealt with and set up. RIDICULOUS. Having a vehicle gets me to my place of employment, which allows me to pay you people for the vehicle sitting in one of your dealerships waiting for an engine on a basically still new vehicle. They were not willing to a single thing to help me out. I will never be buying a Hyundai again. My husband is already looking at getting rid of his also due this service. I owned 3 Chevy’s prior to the Tucson thinking it was a good move. Worst decision and full regret. Things started great with Hyundai and has plummeted over the years. Whenever my vehicle was in the shop with Chevy they ensured they had a fleet/lot vehicle available to me to drive. When I had to get warranty work done and they required to keep my vehicle for 3 days, they had a rental available to me instantly. Odd, they had no issue getting me in a rental ASAP. Hyundai, you are beyond disappointing and I am disgusted with your customer service.
My 2007 Hyundai Entourage at 49,798 miles had to have its pulley replaced at my expense. Obviously the part was defective. The dealer said there was no implied warranty, so I had to pay $279.57 for the labor and part. I never had a pulley replaced on any car I owned. One van had over 250,000 miles on it, and the pulley on it was still good.

I bought a brand new 2006 Hyundai Sonata. Regular oil changes were done. I had to take the car to the dealer early on because the ESC light kept coming on. They had to replace it due to a recall. Late last year, I had to take the car to the dealer again because the lights all kept dying at the same time. I read somewhere that it was a bad switch somewhere.About 3 months ago, I took my car back to the dealership because it was lurching at around 45 mph. They looked at the transmission and told me everything was fine, it checked out. Then about a month ago, I took it back to the dealer because the lights all burned out at the same time again. They checked it and said it was just the light bulbs. So they replaced all the lights in the rear for 45 dollars, gave me a printout of my visit and said they checked the fluids, etc. and everything looked good.Last Saturday, I was heading out to get the oil changed. The check engine light came on and there was a slight knocking noise. After the oil change, I took it directly to the dealership. I got a call from Adam on Wednesday telling me that they were going to have to take the motor apart to check it out. He said he needed my permission to do so but also asked if I had all my maintenance records. He said that if they get in to the engine and see that theres gunk in the motor, thats a sign of poor maintenance and it wouldnt be covered by the warranty.I told him I had the majority of my records. He said the tear down of the engine would cost $360 and I would be responsible for that fee if they find that this problem wasnt covered by the warranty. I gave him the approval to tear down the engine, sure that they would find the problem to be from something covered under warranty.He just called me this morning and left a voicemail that the problem is maintenance related. I should call Valvoline or my insurance company because the problem is not covered under warranty and a new engine is going to cost me $4,500. He said the engine was starved for oil.I think they are trying whatever they can to get out of honoring the 10-year/100,000 mile warranty.
I bought new 2011 accent. The car stalled. It would not start. I have it towed to the dealer. I was told it is not under warranty and had too much oil. Hyundai North America was very uncooperative. I am pod 4000 miles and seized engine. Thanks Hyundai for honoring your warranty. Not! See you in court. My advice to anyone is go Nissan!
I was surprised by my father when he got me a brand new Hyundai Tucson last May of 2011. My old car prior to this one was a Toyota Vios - manual transmission, so this is definitely something more special as it is bigger and it has an automatic transmission making the drive easier for me. I used my Hyundai going to work and it really did not disappoint me especially during rush hour. The handling of my Hyundai is very good. It is very fuel efficient and it accelerates smoothly - very zippy. It is very easy to drive and it doesnt seem to be too big especially for a girl like me who is not tall. The leg room at the back is also very spacious and could definitely accommodate tall people. The compartment at the back is also very big. I did not encounter any problems with my Hyundai up until the time that I sold it. I was really saddened when I have to say goodbye to it earlier this year because it was my favorite but my husband got a brand new Mitsubishi so we have to let go of our old Hyundai. Hyundai is definitely recommended!
I bought a 2011 Sonata in Jan. 2011. In March, I called my dealership to report that my car was pulling to the right. The service manager told me it was from the strong winds we had been having. I also called the dealership in late March because my moon roof was leaking. I took it in and they put a new moon roof. In August I again called and told them about the moon roof leaking again and that I needed some door dinks pulled out (I purchased that extra package). The dealership set up a appointment for me and when I arrived, the service manager told me it was the nature of the beast for the moon roof to leak and he had not made an appointment with the people who fix door dinks. I ask him if he was going to make a note about my moon roof and that the car still pulled to the right. He replied, What do you want from me? very harshly and stated they do not make notes when no work was done. Travel time for me to get to the dealership is 1 hour and I have taken off work to take my car in. This past summer, I did get a recall on the front of the car (The recall was about struts being bad). I called the dealership and ask about it and he informed me that they were waiting for a tool to be able to do the recall and he would call me and set up an appointment. I never heard anything from them, so I called in November and they set up an appointment for December 16. I also ask about getting the door dinks fixed and he stated he would set up the appointment for that also. I took it in on the 16th and they worked on the front end of my car and when I picked it up, I was informed my front right wheel was bent. They moved it to the rear of the car. I believe the rim was always bent from the day I purchased it, but he said they would not warranty it. I believe this should be warrantied. They did not make an appointment to get my doors fixed. I would travel to Columbia, Mo. to another dealership if that has to be done. I love my car and believe Hyundai does not treat their customers like this and want to stand behind their promises. Problems w/ Hybrid batt, charging system since the day I bought it. Poor fuel mileage, rated 57-59 mpg, actual 31-52 mpg. Brake peddle noise at 6,000 miles, noisy a/c fan at 15000. In shop 6 times in 1 1/2 years to diagnosis/repair, no help. Coil failure (car towed to shop) at 20,000.5 case #s opened. Requested buyback several times, they refused it. Case c/s reps. Rude, condescending & dismissive! Maryland lemon law complaint filed, in process. Will never buy a Hyundai product again!
Pathetic service. First they booked the car at a great deal and I gave the booking cheque and documents also required for booking. They cancelled the booking and returned the cheque very next day saying that the car model and variant I have booked is already sold in their Ludhiana showroom and will be available in stock next year at an increased price and no discounts. God knows what a crappy inventory management system they are using. These guys spoiled my familys new year plans.
My husband is in the military. We contacted Hyundai about applying the SSRA (Soldiers & Sailors Relief Act). When they applied this they lost 5 of my payments. I spent weeks trying to get this corrected. I have been treated like a criminal, talked nasty to, and demanded I pay my past due balance. If you pulled their statements online, it showed every payment, the payment history though, disappeared. They required me to send them proof that I had made all these payments. I had to go to the bank, and stamped copies of the electronic transactions. Then, they almost didnt even accept the bank statements. Finally, after going through several people, they corrected the payments by the end of January. When they corrected my payments, we lost the SSRA. So, I called in again on 2/8/12, and spoke to a manager about the SSRA. They assured me, and promised me that this would be corrected by the weekend. Well, it is the weekend, and once again, my payments, since September, have disappeared yet once again. They are saying I owe over $2,000, and I am not even sure they got the SSRA applied correctly. David in California is the only person in the entire company they say that can apply the SSRA. Really? For a company this large? They see they are trying to reverse my payments once again. Heres a new problem, they are now showing 90 days late on our credit report, and mind you, my husband is an active military, and this could cost him his career. I have requested letters 3 times from Hyundai, that this is no fault of my own, and the matter has been corrected. It is always they dont do letters, but will forward to the correct department. I am at my wits end, and have never paid any payment late. I have worked for my credit very hard, and it is not fair that a company can just mess up your account, and you pay the price.
I am completely disgusted with this finance company and people need to be aware of what they are dealing with when it comes to getting a loan from HMF. I set up auto-pay so that I would ALWAYS have a timely payment on my three year loan. Paying on time is very important to me and auto-pay seem like the best solution to Hyundai getting their money on time, every month.It came down to the last payment and this payment was never auto-deducted. Unfortunately for me, I didnt realize this policy of theirs that the last payment would NOT be auto-deducted. What made this so bad is that I didnt find this out until I was 45 days late in payment and Hyundai had already reported this on my credit! I still cant get over them reporting me to the credit bureau when they could have easily communicated what they needed from me to take their last payment.I immediately called to get clarity on why they were telling me I was late in payment with this statement I received just today when they had full ACCESS to my checking account!! They told me that they have a policy built in the contract that states first and last payments are NOT auto-deductible. OK, so somewhere in the fine print is this policy when I bought the car. Being a long time Hyundai customer that is always receiving mail from them, I find it interesting that a courtesy reminder notice with the last statement isnt enclosed for people that rely on auto-pay?I just know that I dont deserve to have my credit dinged because of some nonsense they put in a contract I signed three years ago! I have never made a late payment on the car and common sense would tell you that I counted on THEM to take what was owed out of my account. Obviously, they do this to make a few dollars on interest and late fees. The consequences to an honest consumer with something like this are that they will have their credit report dinged and a fight on their hands to correct it. This is no small matter. This incident is enough to not only make me committed to NEVER buying another Hyundai, but to put the word out there to others to NOT do business with them - at least when it comes to loans. HMF is the lowest of the low. The car itself, a used 2008 Elantra, has been a pretty good car to have. Still, Hyundai lost a customer because of this. BTW... their customer service are some of the rudest people I have ever dealt with too!!! No empathy, no care. I was treated like a dumb deadbeat. Never again!
Not only is the initial cost of the built in navigation system a rip off, wait until you want to update the maps. Pay $35-$40K for a vehicle and then, in our case, Hyundai dealers wanted $169-$300 for a simple and inexpensive update. They take a few minutes, plug into a computer or have a disc and they have the update and then, with a straight face they want that kind of money. Next vehicle will have free updates or no navigation system. Sure wont be a Hyundai product.
I would Strongly recommend not to buy Hyundai car, Especially PUSH BUTTON start. I am having I20 and facing a lot of trouble with the push button system. The car doesnt starts for hours. You will have to wait in traffic for hours to start the car again if turned off on lights. Very poor after sale service. Hyundai doesnt have solution to this problem yet. I have been struggling from past 2 years. The attitude of Hyundai Service Managers is very irresponsible. Faced a lot of harassment. In-fact being a loyal Hyundai customer from past 10 years I would rate 0.01 out of 5. No Initiatives, no responses from Hyundai in this regard. I repeat NEVER BUY HYUNDAI PUSH BUTTON CARS. Key fob poor design plastic part keeps popping off and lost one already. Horrible design. How can any manufacturer make a fob that releases so easy.
I bought a Hyundai i20 in March 2010. Its total running is about 40,000 km, and I have been facing lots of problem with it. At 21,000 km, I was facing engine problems. Now at 40,000 km, it’s repeated again. The company is making excuses that this will not be covered under warranty. Please guide me where I should go to resolve this problem.
I have owned three Hyundai cars, all have been new cars under warranty. I have only had to taken them in for mechanical issues less than ten times. I have never been told by a Hyundai service department that if they find that the problem is not a warranty issue, like a rat chewing through a wire, or hitting a curb and knocking something loose, that I will be responsible for paying over $100 for them taking time to look at my car, whether they fix the issue or not. I can understand the cost of fixing the issue, but not the cost of just looking at it. I can understand if I was bring in a 2001 Toyota. But I am bringing in a Hyundai to a Hyundai dealership while under warranty. It is implied that while under warranty the dealership for that brand of car will check your car when it has mechanical issues for free, and if it isnt a warranty issue, charge you for the repairs. I mean they sure do talk up how good having a warranty is when they talk you into buying that 10 year 100,00 mile extended bumper to bumper warranty, but if you want to get it looked at, you better bring $200, just in case the problem isnt under warranty. Because whether they fix it or not you’re paying. This was my experience at North Freeway Hyundai in Houston TX. The service consultant Bruce ** didnt even test drive my car to see if he felt what I was feeling, until he first told me that just to look at my car, I basically need to have the money to pay just in case it isnt a warranty issue.
I have a used 2013 Hyundai Sonata and recently gas gauge just stop working while I was driving. Was saying that it was empty but I know I had a half a tank of gas. I let it sit for awhile and it started back right but stop again. And now my check engine light on. Has anyone else had this problem and what was done?
First off I still have a problem, need help. My 2004 Hyundai Sonata will not go past 2000 rpm. What could it be? The fuel pump has already been changed.
Car lost power while driving down the interstate and engine started to run very roughly. Took it to the closest dealership on my next day off who called me the NEXT day to tell me that I could come and get the car, but its not fixed because they dont have a fault code to be able to fix an issue, even though they can clearly see that the car isnt running correctly. Car is still under warranty, but wont run, and Im supposed to just bring it home??? Does that make any sense to you?? IDIOTS! Then the service advisor goes as far as to try and sell me a tune-up... ON A CAR THAT WONT RUN! RIDICULOUS!Customer care, not much help there either. They tell me a manager will contact me in 3 to 5 business days. I also bought an extended warranty that NO ONE CAN FIND under my VIN #. How does that work? Every other manufacturer has always been able to see my warranty info listed by the VIN#.... why not Hyundai? All this sounds like HUGE runaround tactics to me. You got me once Hyundai, but never again. Should have stuck to HONDA, Ive had 3 of them and never any issues. Very dissatisfied.
It is a comfortable vehicle to drive with all the adjustments a driver can make to be not tired out on a trip. My wife and I took a trip from Western PA to the state of Washington and neither of us had aches and pains from the trip to and from either location home. We were very surprised at mileage we got on the trip. All in all we were so pleased with the car we ended up purchasing another. It feels like a luxury vehicle at a low price.
I have a 2007 Azera. This is not my first Hyundai, but this seems to be the one I am most disappointed in. I bought the car used in 2011. The car was clean, drove great, was good on gas mileage, then the check engine light came on. I took the car on a regular basis for oil changes and maintenance and when they hooked the car up to find out why the engine light was on, they had no answer. It didnt even register that it was on. So that was perplexing. Ive learned to live with the check engine light - it goes on and off when it feels like it. Then the motor on my sunroof stopped working, it will no longer open or close all the way. About a week ago I was leaving for work and I went to get in my car and the seat was pushed all the way back, now as a woman I panicked and thought someone had been in my car, but that wasnt the case. When I finally felt safe to enter my car (there was no one hiding in my back seat),I adjusted my seat back to normal manually.I started driving down the road and the seat readjusted itself without me touching anything, once again I panicked but this time it was because I couldnt reach the pedals. I turned around came back home and switched cars with my husband because I had no idea what the problem was and I didnt want to get on the highway and not be able to reach the pedals. He drove the car to his work and not only did the seat keep adjusting itself but the steering wheel moved also. On the way home that day, he said it seemed to be fine. Now a week to the day later, today, I was leaving work to come home which is a 48 mile drive, my cars seat was all the way back again. I tried adjusting it, I shut the car off and tried to start over, NOTHING - the seat kept automatically going back. Is this safe? Should I be driving this car when I cant even reach the pedals? Im very afraid at this point that I am going to get into an accident or cause an accident. What do you suggest?
Paid a lot of $$$$ for this car, $50000. Ive been driving a Hyundai Sonata 2011 Turbo, has 125000 on it, great car. Looking to buy another Sonata but 2018 models arent as fast as my 2011. Went for a drive, not even close, what happen? The Genesis was in showroom floor. Took for a drive, Wow, the car floats on the pavement. 3 driving modes, sound system you better wear earplugs. Comfort, outrageous. Noise from outside what noise. Looks beautiful. If you never seen the Genesis Emblem you would not know what kind of car this is. Kudos to Hyundai. Awesome car.
Terrible finance dept. This company can ruin your credit if you dont watch out when you trade your car in for a new one. They do not not close out old car and they ruin your credit. Even tho it is always paid on time they forgot to close old car out and they sent me to the credit bureau as bad debt actually 60 to 90 days late and I no longer have that car. They do not want to fix it. The burden is on you to fix it. This is a total disgrace that a company can ruin your credit when you have always paid on time.
I have a 2011 Hyundai Sonata.. Have had a ton of recalls that I have had to waste a ton of time at the dealership to get fixed. At little over 100,000 miles my engine started burning not leaking oil.. Brought it to Darcy hyundai in Joliet il... Told me I have to do an oil consumption test which I had to go there 6 more times to find out engine is burning oil.. Every mechanic told me I need a new engine but corporate hyundai even though they have had lawsuits over this make and model engine tells me I have to spend 1000.00 to do more tests... Every week I have to refill oil so there is oil in the engine and few months later catalytic converter goes bad because of the oil burning which car stopped running on the expressway and had to get it towed... 1 problem after another problem... Corporate hyundai tells me Im on my own and the converter costs over 1000.00 even tho the engine in that car was proven in court to be bad and replacing converter would not solve the original problem of the engine burning oil.... Stay away from hyundai or you will regret it.
Was on our way home from a Holiday trip Jan 1,2020 when my Hyundai Santa Fe sport with 9,328 miles on it lost power outside of Athens Ga. Was fortunate to be able to be near a convenient store to pull into. Called Hyundai roadside service and they quickly sent a tow truck that took vehicle to nearby Hyundia in Athens. Also called a Uber to take us 3 senior ladies and our dog to the hotel near to dealership in Athens. Naturally since it was New Year’s Day the dealership was not open until the next day. Everything in response to incident was wonderful. Could have stayed in a nicer hotel, but choose one close to dealership. Got home to Florida a couple days later. I sent in the incident report with all the original receipts for the trip interruption reimbursement. Never heard back....called back end of Feb...said it was being worked on....just called back April 23, lady said nothing had been done with case since I called in Feb.? And she would have them (?) call me back. So moral of this story do not depend on getting any money back from Hyundia Trip reimbursement!
New Hyundai Santa Fe GLS FWD - Vehicle is difficult to control while passing and under heavy acceleration 35-60mph. Goes through a series of S turns and pulls hard right and then back left. Fwd axle torque is severe and dangerous to an inexperienced driver... You better be ready to steer or ease off throttle, almost pulled me into back wheels of 18 wheeler trailer while passing.
I recently purchased a 2017 Genesis G80, made by Hyundai. They promise the sun, moon and stars on their customer service. They sell you on the concierge service, where they pick your car up and basically take care of everything. This is a totally lie and the service people have no clue on this service. I have issues with the way the hood is aligned and they had no clue about it, but when you Google the internet, its a common problem. Once Hyundai dealer was unsure if they had concierge service or not and put me through to voicemail. I wouldnt recommend Genesis to anyone... just completely horrible customer service!! I would NEVER, NEVER EVER buy another Hyundai or Genesis. Pay the extra money and buy an Acura or Lexus!
You get a lot with the car. My Tucson has a lot of safety features included. I have checked out other cars that those same features are extra. Lane detection, cross traffic detection. Power mirrors, heated seats, power seats, rear view mirror with several features. Power rear Tailgate, with foot activated feature.
Colonial Hyundai and Hyundai in general is one of the worst car companies I’ve ever dealt with. My Hyundai Tucson has been in the service department since March of 2021 to get the engine replaced on it and it STILL hasn’t been fixed! They gave me a downgrade of a rental car to drive and I was made to believe by the service worker (Kimberly) who is over my car that I would have my Tucson fixed in a couple weeks. Since then all I have gotten is nothing but LIES from her and the service department! They recently told me that it could take between the middle of July towards the beginning of August until my car is completed, which is utterly ridiculous! I’ve had 3 case managers since then trying to work on my behalf and they’ve checked for updates and somehow can’t really do anything to get my Tucson fixed any sooner. What’s even more disappointing is that Hyundai will not take full responsibility for their wrongdoing! I called to speak to the General Manager (Talal) of sales to discuss other options. I was suppose to meet with him last Saturday but had another obligation to come up and could not make it. I called to let him know and did not receive a call back. So I called again today so I could see when I could meet with him next but he wasn’t there. I left my contact information for him to call me back but I’ve noticed over time they will not call you back so you have to keep calling. As a customer, I’ve been treated like crap and as if my concerns don’t matter! They really could care less! Hyundai is an absolutely awful company!!!
I have a 2014 Santa Fe Sport. At 27500 miles the car went in for its first turbo replacement. A month later another one. Then the engine, then another engine and turbo.... Last engine replacement they had my car for 69 days to end up charging me a portion of the rental which is supposed to be covered by warranty... They damaged my firewall, and then 2 weeks later the car is back in the shop for the same engine failures. They are refusing to fix my firewall which clearly they damaged taking the engine out of my car. Unreal... Worst car experience of my life. Oh.. and when I brought the car back, it was 5:30, they close at 6. I had to fight with them to even keep my car. Kendall Hyundai could care less about its customers. The company should be embarrassed how this location runs.
Purchased new 2009 Hyundai Azera Limited. Tired of being misrouted by the factory navigation system, I tried to order new map software from MapnSoft following the instructions in the Owners Manual. MapnSoft wrote back that the radio you have is manufactured by LG and the contract between Hyundai and LG ended 2 years ago... we do not have any update to offer and we do not foresee being able to provide an update in the near future. I called Hyundai Customer Service and was told they couldnt do anything and to see a Hyundai dealer because I bought the car from a dealer. (What in the world is wrong with that logic?) Ive seen similar complaints on the Azera forum from 2009 and 2010 Azera owners and I think its wrong for Hyundai to prematurely end the contract they had to keep their navigation systems up to date.
My vehicle has less than 5000 miles. We were leaving lunch at a restaurant about 25 miles from our home and the car developed a sound in the right front fender, well like something rubbing.and I pulled over to check. The plastic fabric that lines the underside of the right front wheel well had come loose and was dragging on the road. I called Hyundai on road service and they were going to send a car carrier and haul my car to Newnan Georgia 18 miles farther in the other direction to a Hyundai dealer. I was in a school entrance so I then pulled up and I assume the tire ran over the plastic fabric and pulled it loose. I got out and picked up the piece about 12 inches by 8 inches. I noticed the rest of the lining under the wheel well was loose and was being held by a groove in the edge of the fender. The right front fender was separated from the bumper and I was able to push the lining back inside the groove and with the palm of my I tapped on the side where the fender and bumper connected and the two pieces stayed together. I checked and a Hyundai dealer was within 12 miles of my home, I called Hyundai road recovery back and told them I could drive the vehicle to the Hyundai dealer in McDonough, Georgia. We drove to the dealer in McDonough and was told by maintenance that the vehicle was involved in a wreck. I questioned this and was then told that the one (1) mechanic to handle Hyundai vehicles said to take it to their body shop. The maintenance supervisor then indicated that the right front bumper had been hit and it looked like a vehicle in a parking lot had hit the right front fender. When I questioning this he said even a shopping cart in a shopping lot could have hit the bumper and separated the fender from the bumper. We took the vehicle to the body shop and the supervisor said the vehicle was not involved in a wreck. He looked under the right front fender and said he thought the fender separated from the right front side of the bumper after the clips that hold the fender to the bumper had snapped. The fender and the bumper showed no outward scratches or dents. He said Hyundai would not consider the separation of the fender from the bumper to be under warranty. He stated the fender clips could not be repaired and the fender could not be reattached to the bumper instead the bumper would have to be replaced as well as the underside of the wheel well. The estimate would be in excess of $1,400.00. I purchased the vehicle for its looks, warranty and its history of reliability. What else can I expect to fall apart on this vehicle? The vehicle looks like it is very cheaply made and Hyundai has cut corners in the materials used in the assembly of the vehicle. I dont feel safe in the vehicle. I made a mistake moving from Toyota to Hyundai.
I leased my new 2020 Hyundai Tucson on June 30, 2020. Only a month later on August 1, 2020 the oil pump light appeared on board. Advised by the Blue Link representative I contacted from the car, I took the car to be serviced at the nearest dealership (different from the one I leased the car from). Once there, I was told they dont have a replacement car for me to drive while the car is in their shop and that the oil pump they ordered should arrive in a few days, and I am still waiting for it! I am an essential worker who needs a car to get to and from work! I called Hyundai customer service, I was assigned a case manager who had no clue what to do, what part I needed for my car or how to find out when it will be shipped. He recommended I rent a car while Im waiting for mine to be fixed (which could take weeks...) and said I will be reimbursed $30/day if I rent a Hyundai or $20 for a different car. I live in New York City, those are not the rental prices I can find here. Meanwhile, I am still paying for my lease and cannot use the brand new car! This is the second Tucson I have, but after this experience I will definitely switch car companies!
I bought this car when it was 3 yrs old and had it for 2 yrs. I noticed the engine took a long time to start and just got worst. When I took it in for a service they found the head gasket had blown. This is on a 5 yr old car! Whats worse is the warranty had just run out by a couple of weeks. I rang up Hyundai but they wouldnt repair it under warranty or goodwill since it just run out. You dont expect a head gasket to blow on a car this age. This is more common on very old cars with high mileage. Considering this is a very unusual thing to happen and with its warranty just run out you would expect Hyundai to fix it for me or at least pay some of the cost. The cost to fix it is just under a £1000 and the car is only worth £5000 :(
I had to laugh when I read Hyundais stated goal which they claim is to create satisfied customers, because this has not been our experience at all. In fact, my wife and I have made a promise to each other to never buy another vehicle from this dealership or another Hyundai period. I have to tell you, we usually buy new vehicles every 2-3 years because we dont want to deal with any service issues as we are busy people. Changing oil and general maintenance is about as much as we care to deal with. We normally purchase our vehicles from Toyota. In 30 years we had never had trouble them! In fact, we never had to do more than oil changes and basic care. They never broke down, all their parts worked at all times and we never got a lemon. We were so satisfied that although we wanted to try a Honda last time we were apprehensive. However, we LOVED our CRV! I miss it, and regret trading it in because unlike the Hyundai, it worked! Our CRV required mechanical assistance once in the first five years! Very shortly after the warranty expired the transmission went out! I was horrified, because I knew my warranty was up but Honda didnt think it was fair as our warranty had just ran out. Not only did they fix it free of charge, it was too new so they could not find a rebuilt transmission and put in a brand new transmission! That is the level of service we are use to, and we have found Hyundai to be the exact opposite!Our experience has been disappointing at best. We have been lied to, deceived, laughed at and disrespected. We got the runaround from the very beginning when we agreed to allow the salesman run our credit for a particular vehicle. We made it very clear that this was the vehicle we were interested in. In fact, we refused to let him run it until we picked out the vehicle we wanted to buy...then in the middle of the deal our salesman got up and left and another one came out to finish the deal. This shady salesman made the first kid look like an angel. This guy switched us into a vehicle that had more wear and mileage without our consent. My husband was exhausted after they wore us down for hours and decided to just get the car, but then we noticed that things were not working on the way home...both sales people said that I could plug my iPhone into the USB to charge it. We travel a lot and this was the main feature that had us interested in this model and it was the deciding factor on buying from Hyundai. The second salesman told us that he knew the owner personally and that the owner prided himself on providing excellent customer service and that he had his number and if he was unable to help us with any issues we could call the owner himself and he would take care of it. I later asked for the owners phone number and was laughed at and refused the number.However, that USB port was the initial reason why we chose the Hyundai instead of some of the other vehicles we had looked at around town. When we purchased the vehicle I asked about a second key and the salesman assured me he just needed to look for it and that it was there...because he had it earlier that day. When I reminded him we needed that other key fob, he looked for it and claimed it was missing and assured me that they could simply make us a new one real quick. I was concerned. He never found it. Now I am even more concerned because it is totally possible that these unethical people that I dealt with may have said key fob! After the deal was done, the story changed so we would have to make an appointment to get that key fob made. We reminded the salesperson again before leaving and he said he would call with an appointment time.On the way home we found something else wrong in the vehicle. We were never allowed to even test drive or choose ourselves! That USB port did not work at all! I was told that I could charge my iPhone with this USB port. I asked several times if they were sure it would work with my iPhone 5C and was assured that it would. I was upset because we made it clear that we wanted to buy a new car and I was assured that this vehicle was never used for anything but test drives. I dont know of many dealerships that allow animals on test drives. Yet, the air conditioner was blowing out pet fur! Upon further inspection I found dog or cat fur all over... I am allergic to cats and most dogs unless they have hair instead of fur and this was fur.Also, on the way home we stopped at the store and planned to stop a few more places as well but we could not get the back hatch to lock...which was a security and safety concern. I called and most of my concerns were dismissed and made light of. The second salesperson (they switched in the middle of the deal) did not believe there was dog hair so he wanted us to bring the car back to show him, so we did, driving all the way back to Bend. I think he knew it was there all along but figured we would just not want to hassle with it. I was insulted as he made it sound as if I was a liar which took a lot of nerve after just making one deceitful claim after another to us. He made me think that we could exchange the car for another new car and this was the only reason we agreed to that drive. He acknowledged the presence of dog hair and did not know how that got there. We do not own any pets. He basically did nothing to assist us at that time and thus the trip was a waste of our time. He promised to make an appointment to have the fur removed and all scents removed and to have car mats installed.The salesman called to say he made an appointment to have the car treated to eliminate scents and hair, have the USB port fixed and the back latch fixed. After calling to insure the parts were in we arrived at the appointment and were asked, Oh did you make this appointment online? All of the parts were not there but they said they could replace the key fob and that they kept the mats in stock and they did not need to be ordered as the salesperson stated! However, the machine used to get out the hair and scent was never arranged.I was there all day long. They wanted me to make yet another appointment to finish the work. Then they wanted me to leave my vehicle for a few days so they could order the part again and get it fixed. Its a good thing I did not agree to that because it was at least two weeks before they called back! My husband did not trust them by that point anyways and flat out refused to let me leave the vehicle there. They claimed that the treatment for the hair would take most the day so I suggested that they just fix the latch and the key fob and make it right in some way as I had picked most of the hair out of the vehicle myself by the time of the appointment (resulting in an asthma attack). I could not drive it the way it was and had to do something. That day they literally had not done anything all day long. The key fob was not fixed, they said they ordered a defective one and they needed to reorder that... The only thing that was in and all they did all day long was to put in car mats that would have taken less than five minutes yet they made me wait several hours...only to tell me that I would have to make an appointment and return to Bend...yet again. Before they even started I asked them if they had the parts and was told yes. This has been a huge waste of my time for a car I never wanted. I wanted the one we test drove that they sold out from under us. This is hardly a way to make a customer satisfied!So, we came back today and guess what? Even though we checked twice this time to make sure parts were in, they were not! We were lied to time and time again. I have the messages from both incidents and both messages say all of these parts are in...yet they were not. Yep, we got there today after calling and speaking with Mr. Nasty Tude, I mean Mr. ** and was assured once again that the parts were in. When we arrived ** was there and we told them we had a bad experience last time and wanted to make sure all the parts were really there before they started as we did not have time to waste. He was rude which just added to our frustration. My husband told him that I had already spoken to someone in Corporate and to just leave the hatch alone and fix the USB. He gave me a smart ** acknowledgement and held out his hand for the keys. It was a good half hour before they took the car back even though they were not busy and there was no vehicle in the bay they pulled it into. ** was nasty saying we must have made this appointment online...that seems to be the standard answer for everything in your non-service department. We did not make this appointment online.WE did not want to make another wasted trip to Bend so even though after two weeks they finally called to tell us that the part was in we called back before leaving for the appointment this morning to insure that the parts were indeed there. We asked ** when we arrived and he said all of the parts were there, they were not but he did not care and said we would have to make another appointment to come back. When we told him that we called ahead of time to insure the parts were in and checked with him when we got there he got even ruder and said that he wanted us to leave and never come back into the service department/dealership. Not a problem! But please know that I will be reviewing this dealership and that this time I will contact corporate in writing for legal purposes.Please note that I have not forgotten my promises to add reviews. I have a draft ready to go and my husband is currently working on the complaint for the BBB. We have given your dealerships more opportunities that it deserves. We would love to prevent this, we want you to make this right, go back to the beginning and give us the vehicle we ran our credit to purchase. The same one or a 2015 model that is brand new without scratches, dirt, dog or cat hair, etc. We should not have to deal with defective parts, as we purchased a new vehicle, not a used one! Written promises were made and part of our purchase agreement. The dealership failed to meet these and therefore it cancels this contract and we want our Honda back within 7 business days or we will take legal action. We have given the dealership many opportunities to make this right with no resolution and have been treated with grave disrespect. This is the worst car dealer I have ever dealt with and I will be filing a claim with the BBB.
On December 23, my Hyundai vehicle was repossessed. I was shocked! I double checked my online bank account and could not find any lapses in payments. I tried calling them on December 24 and of course no one was in. I kept trying and finally reached them on Dec 29. When I called them and they said their records show me 41 days late but could not give me the exact information on when I missed a payment. There was a bunch of double talk about how much principal and interest had been applied and they tried to avoid my direct questions such as when my payment is due, what my minimum payment amount was etc. This is no way to do business!!! Then they tell me in order to reinstate my loan, I have to pay $1038 plus repo fees, plus storage cost of the vehicle. Then she tells me that the repo lot only holds the car 2-5 days. That the car had already probably be sent to auction. They have violated my rights in so many ways. Just do yourself a favor and steer clear of Hyundai motor finance. FYI... they and Kia are one in the finance area. Buyer beware!
Many issues from engine failure (they did replace the engine) to warped brake rotors (will not honor warranty to bad struts and noisy front suspension). Called Hyundai and their field reps are useless and Hyundai just does not care about individual customers - what they are concerned with is the perception that they have the best warranty and care about their customers - not the actual act of doing so. I have owned many brands of my 50 years, but never experienced anything like this.
We just purchased a 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy trim in Sep 21 because we loved that it had everything we were looking for in regards to safety, technology, and design. We paid $45k for it along with about $1,000 in fees and travel to pick it up. We were quite excited as this was our first brand new vehicle. 2 months into it, the transmission went bad and we brought it to Hyundai to find out whats going on as it was under warranty. Heres where things went further south.Hyundai cant get parts to fix their brand new cars...and on top of that, why would a transmission already be bad? It has sat on their lot since Nov 30th, 2021. Last week we just got an offer to buy back the vehicle for more than 4k less than what we just bought it for and drove it for two months. They stated that our state allows for depreciation in Missouri for lemon laws and they cant help us, it is what it is. During this time, cars have gone up because dealers are now charging a mark up fee, so although they can claim depreciation, we cant claim appreciation on the car. So to get the same exact car we just bought, we now will have to pay 4-8k more for equivalent. Its horrible. And just for a buyer beware situation, Hyundai will no longer replace your car with an equivalent one substitution for collateral equity. They stopped replacing them with like cars because theyre manufacturing so few that anything they make has to go to dealers to get top value for them.Point being for this review is that although Hyundai makes a great car much of the time, if you have any problems at all, there are concerns of finding parts for repairs, and if its unrepairable, plan on a huge deduction for a buyback. Good luck out there from a very unhappy customer who just lost 4-8k on a brand new vehicle, and now I have to go find a replacement on my own.
For being a turbo the Hyundai Veloster does not feel like it. When I try and get it going it tends to stick a lot and then jumps forward real fast. Having the flaps on the steering wheel is a pain. I sometimes knock into them by accident and they change my car to manual which I do not care for. Then I have to slow down and press down on the flap to put it back to automatic.
Such a shame. We are a growing company with 2 Hyundai iMax vans. And we’ll need more soon. One of them had an engine seizure at just after 5 years, and only 120,000 on the clock. Hyundai Australia refuse to even help. What a shame. I suppose we’d better move to a company more likely to help. Mark, Blue Dive Port Douglas.
The steering wheel on my Entourage is cracking and splitting. At 75,000 miles, I am told this is cosmetic and not covered under warranty. Also, the plan (painless dent removal) that I paid for $600 expired. I purchased the van in July 2008. I purchased a 5 year plan. Somehow in May 2006, it has expired. I purchased an extended warranty plan (at the dealer) for 10 years 100,000 miles and it covers nothing. The paint in certain areas is fading and the lights are looking as they have been etched with some type of chemical. The dealer representative’s solution is to buy a new vehicle. I took the van in for some issues and they wanted to charge me $800 plus for unneeded items. They did replace the defective door latches (a recall item no one informed me of). Luckily for me, citric cleaner and a magic eraser cleaned the mechanic’s greasy handprints off my doors and back seat. This is my second Hyundai. My brother and my mother have purchased Hyundai because I recommended them. The warranty company and dealer wont return my calls. Somehow, they are always in meetings and/or just left for the day. The consumer rep that I spoke to tell me I have been misinformed, mistaken and incorrectly advised (basically lied to). He apologized several times. Hearing me out (a mental enigma) does not help me. His advice was to go over my contracts. I did. My supreme plans are supposed to cover everything. My paint plan was supposed to last until 07/15/2013. The only thing they are interested in is selling me another vehicle. What would you do? I am not having a good time here.
I purchased a Hyundai Elantra Turbo back in September 2017. I have just recently been diagnosed with stage III colon cancer and have not worked for over a month and not sure when I will be getting back to work. I called the finance company for Hyundai and ask them if I could delay a few payments and add them onto the end of my lease. Their response was that there was nothing that they could do for me. I’m very disappointed! Upset! The way I feel right now if I could turn in my car and lease from another company that would have a little more compassion I would do it in a heartbeat! I will never buy another Hyundai based on this experience.
Problems with 2015 Hyundai Tucson - only had it 3 months. I took it in to have them look at it and they said nothing was wrong. It shakes when you stop at a light. I hope they can take me serious. I hate to have to get rid of it. Really disappointed.
I had good credit and went to buy a Hyundai Elantra because I was in need of a good car, but when I applied for the credit, the guy helping me took advantage of my need. First he came to me with a 10% interest. When I agreed, he went back to his boss. Few minutes later, he came back telling me that my interest was little higher to 12%. I really needed the car so I agreed, but he went back. To make it short, I ended up paying 16% because I told him I would not pay more. I think they ripped me off because of my need and lack of experience dealing with this kind of people who take advantage of you. So if you need a car, dont go with Hyundai or at least dont use their credit and go with somebody with experience.
