Ford PTO failures with Ford Edge, Flex, 500, and Lincoln MKX - As a manufacturer, I am really disappointed with Ford, and this will likely be my last one after being a Ford supporter for years. I have spent $1,800.00 in maintenance on this vehicle in the last 12 months on replacing the engine fan TWICE and the engine fan wiring harness. Now, another $2,800 for the PTO / PDU / transfer case and power steering rack? Thats $5,000.00 in maintenance in the last 12 months. No thank you, Ill probably trade this in on a Lexus and #lastFORDever. Ford gets zero stars. I have had a case open with Ford corporate, nothing material has been done.

I took my 2003 Ford Focus SE with 73,000 miles on it to get the alternator replaced and when it was put on the lift, the passenger side coil spring broke at the base. I am so thankful it happened there and not on the highway with my child in the car! I bought this car used in 2005 and I am worried after reading these posts about the other springs breaking also. I have had to have the sway bar links and a new ignition module replaced. These are all known problems to Ford, yet they do not recall the parts and continue to put them in newer models. This is the first and only Ford car I will ever own!

I had to replace all four struts and springs on our 2002 Ford Taurus; all four spring had broken. The right front spring broke and punctured the tire. Miles on it are 138,839 and I understand that struts need to be replaced but there is a big problem with the spring issue. It could have caused an accident and the approximate cost of four struts labor and tires is $1000.00.

You should have NO stars for this rating of this company. This company should be issuing a recall for the problem with my truck (fuel tank collapse). This happens all of the time with trucks in the oil fields. It is a venting problem that gets clogged with dirt. Aren’t trucks designed to be in dirt? Cost is exorbitant and unnecessary. I would like Consumer Affairs to look into this problem. Imagine how many F-350 trucks are on the road and the potential of breakdowns is enormous. I think they allow this to happen to just line their pockets. Or maybe they put faulty parts on these trucks. They did have these issues back in 2012 on smaller cars.

After much persistence, on my part, the problem was finally fixed. The Senior Technician researched more and found 4 more tests to pinpoint why this may be happening. The first three were negative in result. The fourth test found the problem. The float at the bottom of the gas passageway (?) before the main part of the gas tank is reached, was STUCK OPEN. So, of course, it did not signal that it was full! When I was told this and informed that a new gas tank was to be installed, I just could not believe that this had not been a checking option before!! I had a very hard time containing myself. The fact that I refused to be blown off by their comments on several discussions was the only thing that got it fixed. My respect for this particular Ford Dealership took an amazing downslide!!

This Mercury is a 2005 yet still in great shape. It is comfortable. It drives great. This car has automatic seat adjustments that have proved to be so convenient. It is the second Marquis that I have owned. It has a really smooth ride. Its great on long trips. The color blue is my favorite. It starts in all kinds of weather so it is reliable. This car gets good gas mileage for a full size car. It has automatic mirror adjustments. I like that it has an automatic gear shift. I like the way the brakes work. I like that you can see out of the car well. I also like the sound of the radio and speakers. It tells you the temperature inside and outside the car. It has plenty leg room and headroom. You dont hear a lot of outside noise. It is easy to handle. I would include a backup camera and a GPS though. Other than that it is a perfect car and I love it. I wouldnt care if it was a little be smaller but not much. I would like that indicator that tells you when you are too close to a car on the side. I would like side airbags too. I would like that feature that stops the car when you get too close in front. I would like that indicator that beeps when you back too close to anything. I would also like a seat warmer for the winter.

I was driving home from Wal-Mart, which is about a 20 minute drive. I am not sure what happened, as I must have blacked out, or blocked it out, but I woke up flipping over and over, and found out it was in a field. Witnesses claimed the car flipped 12 times, before landing on the roof of the car. All the windows, besides one I believe, were knocked out, and there werent airbags. I have an artificial hip, due to another wreck, where I was a passenger. I was trying to get the seat belt off, as I was scared something else would happen if I didnt get out, but it was stuck. Finally, a gentleman showed up. He had to crawl down under me, to cut the belt, and get me out, without causing more problems. The first thing I heard the policeman say was the bags did not go off, then I heard the same thing next day, when I went to pick up whatever was left. A prescription was lost or stolen. We looked everywhere, and my Tom Tom, which was in the glove box was gone. I went by ambulance to the hospital. They took an x-ray of my chest and neck, and did some CT scans to check my back. As of now, I have bruises and abrasions, but I can barely walk without crutches. The same side of my hip was replaced in 1994. My back has a large bruise, and it hurts real bad to move, cough, etc. I did not have comp or collision, as I was told, when a car is over 20 years old, they dont need it.The car is completely totaled. The roof was crushed like a v right down the middle. The medic said if my head or the v had been an inch or so closer, I would not be here. If there are this many complaints, why hasnt Ford done something about it? I was shocked. I was supposed to be on federal jury tomorrow. I had to call and cancel that. Currently, all I can do is lay in bed or on the couch, with heating pads and pain medications. I may have to call my orthopedic doctor, if I dont get any better. But my husband has been out of work taking care of me. He went back today, and the my doctor is in Charleston, about 2 hours and some minutes from where we are. He cant afford to take off constantly.

Also, I have a 2003 mountaineer; the rear spring broke but I was told that it was not a recall. I am not taking a chance and I am changing the fronts as soon as possible. No one was injured but my money. No more Fords for us. Theyll lose in the long run.

I purchased a 2019 Edge ST and its already been to the dealership twice. Neither of which they have confirmed anything (on paper). My transmission gets to 3rd gear then comes out of gear, continuing to rev, before finally kicking over to 4th gear after a couple of seconds. Same gear, every time. First time I took it in (January 2019), they said the tech couldnt duplicate it, so I took him for a drive. He saw what it was doing but because his little laptop didnt show anything, he wrote on the work order he couldnt confirm the issue. They cleared the adaptive learning it apparently has and all was fine for a couple of weeks. Then, same gear, same issue. Took it back (March 2019). Same response - cant confirm and its not throwing a code soooo... here I sit. It also jumps forward when trying to slow down (ie pull into parking spot or stop sign) but I wont even make the attempt to get them to duplicate that issue.

Had not bought a vehicle in some years. Always go through Carfax but this time I couldnt. I was told I had a great deal to have the 2016 Ford Edge out the door for 25,000. Got home, checked Carfax and found they were advertising it for 22,901. They lied for a few hundred dollars. They will never get my business because they are deceptive. This was the second car from Gwinnett Place Ford. The first was a new 2001 Ford Ranger and we had to be real sharp and after maybe 5 to 6 hours, they finally honored the buy. This time they got away with the usual tactics. I will never ever buy another product from them, ever again. I am a Navy Veteran and I am disabled. A few hundred dollars is like thousands to me and my retired wife. Will also tell anyone else who wants to know about my experience with them. Thank you.

Ford Motor Credit is attempting to charge me a $100 fee for a speeding tick
Ford Motor Credit is attempting to charge me a $100 fee for a speeding ticket on my vehicle. Ford notified me of the ticket and I proceeded to immediately contest the ticket. About 30 days afterwards, I find the fee of $100 on my account. I called Ford and notified them that it was my intention to contest the ticket and that by them having paid it, they are precluding me from being able to continue with the contestment. After waiting for over 8 days for a supervisor to contact me, I just spoke to Miguel ** who was very disrespectful, called me a liar, and told me that he will not remove the fee. I told Mr. ** that I will use this to end my lease and proceed to file in small claims court and that I would be mentioning him by name and he stated Go ahead and do it. Im writing it down.I have never been so disrespected when dealing with another company and I want the fee removed. I followed the instructions on the letter to call the jurisdiction to contest the ticket and Ford proceeded to pay the ticket and attempt to charge me for it. The letter contained a typo which confused me and even after having admitted to the mistake, Mr. ** refuses to eliminate the fee. I will not pay the ticket and I want it removed. I also want ** held accountable for his disrespect and actions.

The 1977 Ford Maverick is not for everyone. As a daily driver, it takes a bite out of your wallet for gas money, but that more than pays for itself in the compliments you will receive while filling up at the pump. The bench front seats remove the barrier between you and your passengers and make you feel even closer, while the expansive windshield and minimalist doorframes make it feel like youre driving in a moving clear glass box. Wonkas great glass elevator is a good mental comparison. While the carburetor makes for an bit of a lag on the throttle, with a massive boat like this, youll want to slow down and let everyone get an eyeful anyway.

Before I retired we purchased a new 2014 Ford Edge. At 32,000 miles and 3 years old we had paint bubbling on the passenger side rear door where the door skin is crimped around the door shell. I took it to our local Ford dealership and it was scheduled in the body shop for a repair. Once completed it looked great. However, being a mechanic and building and painting street rods, I feared the corrosion would return. I voiced my concerns and was told the repair was guaranteed. At 39,000 miles and less than a year I returned to the dealership with more corrosion than ever. The dealership took photos and submitted them to Ford who denied any warranty. I contacted Ford and was told it had to have rust holes to be covered. Im so picky with my vehicles. I was furious. This was the first new Ford product I have purchased only because my wife wanted it. I am a 60 year old long time GM man. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER NEW FORD PRODUCT!!!

2015 Fusion Energi Titanium - During the entire sales process, I had sales staff and service staff would lie to make sure the sale went through. After I bought the vehicle, I found damage on several parts of the vehicle and they stated they would take care of it. I came back to have the vehicle fixed before they put on a sealant coat on exterior and interior that I paid extra for at time of sale. I came back after the service person James called me and told me it was perfect with all damage gone. I show up to find out the vehicle damage was not taken care of and I ask ** to come look at the vehicle damage personally. He admits he never looked at the damage before or after it was fixed. I schedule the vehicle to have the drivers side painted to solve a gouge that went to the sheet metal. The vehicle is brought in and all problems are solved. I needed to call the auto shop to have status updates on my vehicle. ** would give answers with no basis in fact and every communication he would change the times/days when the vehicle would be ready. The vehicle will be going back in four weeks to have the sealant replied post vehicle paint curing. I have had nothing but problems with the Future Ford Roseville dealership. The problem is I am 500 miles away from the dealership and I cannot show up in person. Every time I try to contact people, I have the I will call you back or have that person call you and I have waited more than four business days on multiple occasions for a response. I traded in a vehicle and they took and additional four days to get in touch with VW Credit to find out the pay off amount. I have waited now seven days for financing to talk with me at the dealership. I have left voicemails daily on work phones and personal cell phones with still no response. I need help!!!!They offered me $100 to call the damage fine with a gouge going through all layers of paint. They even told me they would take care of me if I put in perfect scores on the surveys. I am offended at the $100 to go away and asking me to falsify records to make the dealership look good in Fords eyes. Then having the gall to say they will take care of me if I lie as they have constantly lied to me. I need someone from Ford Corporate to investigate my allegations to find the truth of the matter. They are willing to refuse to contact me when I need help and are more than willing to constantly, lie to me. I even asked to return the car in the first 200 miles/48 hours and I would wait for another car to come in that was not damaged. I just want a new car and want to enjoy my new car. I have owned the car for two weeks and it was in my possession for only four days so far.

The second front spring has now broken. First it was the drivers side - now the passenger. I dont understand why the recall doesnt include the 2003 model, since they obviously have the same problem as the other ones that there has been a recall on. The mechanic said it wont be long before the rear passenger one goes too. This is a very dangerous position that we have been put in by Ford not recalling these. Who is responsible for starting a recall? This is not fair or good business.

Last year, front right coil spring failed and punctured the tire requiring the car to be towed and repaired at a cost of $550. Seven months later, rear drivers side coil failed. Today actually, not sure if the tire has been damaged. I will check that at time of pick up at a cost of $350. I have owned many, many cars and never had this problem with any of them. I believe someone may have tried to break in my 2015 Explorer. I never realized that my door handle was plastic. All it took was a screwdriver to break it. Fortunately they were scared away. Otherwise they could have pried the lock and got into my vehicle. This handle is used on 2011 - 2017 models, part number 78218A14. This piece of plastic cost $68.50 plus tax. It is poorly made. They wanted a fortune to install it so we are taking it to a body shop who will install it for $30. Be aware that they change prices on you from one day to the next. We were quoted $68.50 on Friday and then on Tuesday they wanted $75. Ford used to be my favorite car manufacturer, but is not anymore. On Saturday, June 21, 2014, at 10:00pm my 2001 Ford F-150 started a fire under the hood after being parked for several hours. There was no trouble with the truck and we had just spent about $700 on maintenance services. Thank God my husband & kids were still up when they heard a loud noise outside, went to see what was going on, and found the truck in flames. The fire started to melt the vinyl siding on my house but the firefighters arrived just in time before the house caught on fire. I thank God for sparing my family and home. I purchased a 2012 Ford Certified Pre-Owned Focus in August of 2015. The car had just over 22,000 miles. It was in exceptionally good condition and appeared to be well cared for. I was very reluctant to buy a Ford product because I had a terrible experience with Ford 15+ years ago. I planned to purchase a Chevy Cruze when a friend told me to reconsider Ford and look at a Focus. I visited a Ford dealer and compared the Focus to the Cruze. They were pretty comparable across the board. My daughter pushed for the Focus. We drove a Focus and talked to a couple different dealers quite a bit. I remained skeptical. The dealer convinced us to buy a Certified Focus because it came with an extended the bumper to bumper warranty for 12 months/12,0000 miles and a powertrain warranty extension to 7 years/100,000 miles. The warranty convinced me to give Ford a second chance. My daughter really likes her car and has no real complaints so far.Last week, the car came due for the first oil change. I told her to take it to the Ford Dealer and also let them know that the transmission was not shifting correctly as well as the vents in the rear deck were disintegrating. If you touch them and they literally turn to dust. The dealer told her that the transmission was part of a recall and that she would need to make an appointment to have it reprogrammed. The rear deck was not covered under warranty. I called the dealer back and spoke to the service dept letting them know the car is Ford Certified and that it should be covered under the extended bumper to bumper coverage. The service writer told me that the 12 Month/12,000 mile warranty expires on 8/8/2016, however, Ford CPO is a limited warranty that covers selected parts. They also clarified that Ford CPO does NOT extend the bumper to bumper warranty. It is a limited warranty. There is a specific list of items that are covered. The Ford warranty also has a $100 deductible. That was news to me. I had purchased vehicles certified by other manufacturers and never had a deductible or been told that the bumper to bumper portion has a limited list of repairs. The Ford sales people made it sound the same as other CPO programs.I decided to call Ford Motor Company to verify what I was told. Prior to calling I did some research into the issues we reported with our Focus. Apparently both issues are known problems with Focus sedans. Ford issued a Technical Service Bulletin documenting the rear deck problem and provided instructions for dealers how to perform the repair. The transmission was recalled as we were told. Seems pretty straight forward so far.I called Ford and spoke to Amanda. I told her about the Ford Focus Owners website where there are many complaints about the rear deck dissolving into powder and provided the TSB number that documents the problem. Amanda kept informing me that she was not aware of the issue and kept trying to refer me back to the dealer. I went round and round with her. She seemed quick with the phrases: I am not aware of the issue, I do not have access to that information, I am not able to diagnose the problem over the phone. She was clearly trying to get me off the phone. I was not asking her for a diagnosis. I informed her that a Ford dealer already did the diagnosis. I told her I wanted to know if the warranty covers replacement of the failed parts. The car at this point had 28,000 miles and should not be dissolving into dust. She said that she had conflicting information about coverage. One document said the repair should be covered, the other said it was not. She said she would call me back after doing some research. I never received a callback.I waited a few days and contacted Ford Motor Company again. I spoke to Nick this time. Nick said that there was no record of my previous call. I was not surprised. I had to start over and tell him the whole story. I went round and round again. It was nearly a repeat conversation. Nick like Amanda insisted that he could not diagnose the car over the phone. I was starting to get angry because I clearly was NOT asking for a diagnosis. I asked again and again if the part identified in the TSB failed, does the Ford CPO warranty cover the repair? Seemed pretty clear to me, but he kept trying to make the issue about the diagnosis and again kept repeating that he could not diagnose the issue over the phone and that I needed to go to a Ford dealer. I bet he said I dont have access to that information or some variant of it at least 10+ times. We continued to go round and round. Finally I decided to go in a different direction and ask what parts of the rear deck are covered by Ford CPO. Progress at last. The answer was there are 2 part numbers. One was covered, one was not. The part that is known to fail, is documented as failing repeatedly by Ford, and has a Ford TSB issued for the repair IS NOT COVERED by warranty. The other part number that doesnt have any issues is covered by the warranty. If you are considering a Ford CPO used car, do your homework. Fords warranty is NOT like other CPO programs on the market. Ford limits what they cover and also requires you to pay a deductible. They do a good job with marketing to create the impression that their program is valuable. Dont be fooled! I should have verified Ford CPO against the GM CPO on the Chevy Cruise. It was my own fault for trusting them and not reading before we purchased the Focus. My 19 year old daughter now understands why I was so reluctant to buy Ford. The way Ford representatives handled my call both times was extremely frustrating. I will avoid the Ford CPO program in the future and suggest any reader do the same. We tried 3 times through the dealership and twice with Ford. We received the message and wanted to share it with people.

I just read the posts and what happened to my truck was exactly what I read - 2000 F150 extended Cab, excellent condition, low mileage, parked for 5 hours, then spontaneous combustion. The engine looks like it was nuked. Though I am sure the Insurance will cover it, but not nearly the value of the truck or the contents that were destroyed. Does Ford provide any compensation?

This is the second Ford Edge that we have owned and we really like the vehicle. It gets fairly good gas mileage for its size and is very comfortable and nice looking. We had both vehicles well past the warranty and found it to be very stable. No major repairs and only typical maintenance. We love the GPS and the two moon roofs. The area in the back will hold large items and is easy to push a button and lower the back seats to make even more room. The body style is very sharp and I love the heated seats. But the first Edge had a problem with the rear view window and I felt like I couldnt see as well as I should be able to. But the next one we bought had a little condensed mirror attached to the rear view mirror that enables me to see a wider area. We are very pleased.

I know many of you already know how angry I am at Ford, but let me just tell yall about how Mark Martin Ford and Kia in Batesville, AR has made it worse. Keep in mind, Ive already had to have three other recall issues fixed (one of which is the clutch which is getting fixed again). So my car had stopped turning off for a week or so when I pressed the off button. Even when I left the vehicle and took my keys, it sounded like the engine continued to run for another ten minutes until it went off although the internal stuff turned off. On top of that, it had been hesitating to accelerate and shuddering, making it difficult and sketchy to drive. Which by the way, is an issue of which a class action lawsuit was filed against Ford and Ford lost a couple years ago.My battery had been tested a few days before this even happened and it was good. Almost a week ago, the engine wouldnt turn on when I tried to start it, but all of its internal lights and components turned on and wouldnt shut off. It became a very loud blinky, electrical hassle to get them to turn off. My cousin came over to try to jump my battery but nothing happened. He tested it at that time and it showed the battery was fine. Ford towed it to their service department and I didnt hear anything except that they wouldnt be able to look at it until late Friday. So I didnt hear anything until Monday when they said my problem was I just had a bad battery. And that I would have to pay at least $130 for that. They also said they would have to replace my clutch but that would be covered under warranty. At no point did they explain why my car wouldnt shut off when it should have, but they said itll be ready today. I said I disagreed on the battery and the service manager said well you can have your old battery back and not pay a thing then. But still no explanation of why my car wouldnt shut off and said that couldnt be related to my battery going bad overnight. Mark Martin Ford had my car for two days before even looking at my car. So in my mind, my battery went bad somewhere between that Thursday morning and whenever they looked at it on Friday or Monday morning.I called Ford customer service corporate where they gave me a case number and told me the service manager at Mark Martin Ford and Kia would call me about it which didnt happen. When I called him, he told me he didnt even know what a case number was and said I needed to call Ford. I called Ford and they said its the dealerships problem, call them. Both of them hyperfixated on the fact that my battery was dead and didnt explain or care about the other issues. So, how they are going to resolve it: put my old, now bad battery back on and I can take it as is, no payment necessary. Instead of fixing the actual problem of my car not turning on and off when it should. Sounds like the professional type of Ford service youll hear about when you get put on hold for forty minutes. They both said maybe I should talk to the manager. Flashback to six months after I even bought the car when I talked to the manager and he told me it was my problem because I bought the car to begin with. This after I had already had a leak, had to spend a month and a half to even get a spare key, and dealt with one or two recall issues where after they fixed it, I had problems after. He and Ford, as a company, have reminded me how bad of a reputation Ford has and why I never want to deal with them again. I have no idea why I let myself get talked into buying a Ford in the first place but it was a mistake all around. I want to urge yall to never buy a Ford Fiesta or Focus at the very least and to reconsider going to Mark Martin Ford in the future for a car. I paid full asking price for this car and it has plagued me and will continue to plague met until I get rid of it.

Ford is refusing to fix our 09 Escapes power steering issue after issuing a NHTSA recall in July 2014. (14S05) At the time of recall our car didnt have any problems. Ford took the cheap way out and reprogrammed the steering module which fixed nothing. It was a way for Ford to clear our VIN number from the NHTSA recall list. 10,422 miles after the reprogramming the power steering failed. Ford says its now our problem and we have to pay to fix the car. $1,327.90. The car is now showing trouble code B1342 and needs its steering column replaced. If you are having the same problems please report it to NHTSA ASAP. They are investigating Ford for not fixing their recalls. As of right now they have 122 complaints.

I had a 2011 Ford Edge. Vehicle had high miles and I expect things to go wrong over time but this is just STUPID ENGINEERING!!! When the water pump goes on 3.5L engine it leaked coolant into the oil because it is built into the engine. No warning, and water in the oil basically destroyed the engine unless you are fortunate enough to catch it by fluke. If you are proactive and replace the water pump you are looking at 15 hours of shop labor plus parts and but there is no recommendations to do this in any manual. My motor is ruined and I will never buy a Ford again. WHAT A HORRIBLE DESIGN! There are several Ford engines with this design. This is a motor that is designed to fail. Dump your vehicles before this happens to you.

The Ford Edges and Explorers have an issue with the bushings on the front struts. I called around to dealers and it is not uncommon for these struts to clunk and need replacement with under 40000km. I took my car in 4 days after the 3 year warranty had run out, mainly due to my schedule not allowing me to get it in earlier. I work and the nearest dealer is an hour away. Of course the dealer could do nothing about it, but did admit that this problem was VERY common, in fact it was properly diagnosed by the service manager before it even hit the shop. I have made contact with the Ford customer service center and was told that there was nothing to be done, but to save my receipt in case of a recall, at which point I would be reimbursed... really, why not just fix the problem. It seems to me that if they value you as a customer (15 new vehicles in the last 30 years) they would have the fortitude to stand up and show it. The customer service center is really not run by the Ford Company, the warranty is contracted out to a third party, and is treated as such. I was told on the phone and in emails that no person at the Ford motor company could review my complaint and make the decision to cover the DEFECT under warranty. Once the warranty has expired, there is nothing that ANYBODY in the entire Ford company could do to help me. What a load (full load) of BS. I really dont care about the $300 that the DEFECT fix will cost me, it is the principle involved... sometimes you have to look beyond the wording of a document (warranty) and do the right thing. It seems a shame to end a 30 year relationship with Ford vehicles over this, but end it must. I am disappointed in the way that this company is run... the idea of a third party warranty system and customer service. I guess that to them I am just one person in millions... I can only hope that my story helps a few others along the way to make the best decision in upcoming vehicle purchases.

I ordered a Lincoln Aviator Black Label in April. In August I was given the VIN number and was told that this car would arrive in two weeks. As of this date (12/17/2019), the car has NEVER shown up. Because of this, I was forced to buy another car that was not the same as I ordered or wait until???? Now I find out that ALL the things that I thought were part of the Black label package are ONLY available at certain select dealers. And none of these are near my house. I cannot even get a free car wash. Also, yesterday my wife had a flat tire and when she called Lincoln she was told that there was nobody close enough to help her. So naturally she called me to fix the problem but only after damaging the tire trying to get off the road.My question is how does anyone lose a car like the one I ordered after it is built?? And when you pay $7,500 extra for Black Label you should get something other than someone telling you that they cannot help you. Lincoln has a long way to go, to get their standards up to the foreign dealers. I called Lincoln today, and was advised that they will file my complaint. I am sure I know where!!!! The car is sitting in the garage after I removed the tire myself and ordered a new one. It will be a week to get this new tire, without the use of any car. All this just days before Christmas. Someone should tell me why a 74 year old who just had abdominal surgery 4 weeks ago had to remove the tire and why I paid some much extra for a Black Label that means nothing??? I am writing this after talking to Lincoln and realizing that once they have you money, they could care less.Robert **

On May 9, 2016 in Manchester NH our 2015 Ford F150 Lariat spontaneously caught fire and destroyed itself and a car in the adjacent parking spot. The vehicle was parked a few feet outside our office window when smoke came pouring out of the hood of the truck. The truck was unattended, was NOT running, just suddenly started burning out of control. It eventually burnt to the ground, destroying the front of our office concrete walls, office windows, pavement, and the car next to it.

We have been loyal Ford automobile/truck owners for over 30 years. Bought a C-MAX in April 2013 based on Fords claim of 47 mpg hwy/47 mpg city. Then the truth came out and Ford said they were wrong. Ford was very nice and sent two checks totaling around $900 for their mpg mistake. Then there have been numerous recalls. We contacted the head of Fords Extended Service Plan department in September, 2014, to request an extension of the warranty to 100,000 at no cost to us. No answer back from Mr. Michael **. Sent another letter. Again, no response. Contacted Fords Customer Relation Center via email. Received a response back the same day. Fords CRC asked for clarification as to what the problem was and what we were asking for. I responded three times and never heard back. Sent two letters to William Ford, Jr., Mark Fields, and Frederiek Toney (President, Global Ford Customer Service Division). Guess what? NOT ONE PERSON RESPONDED.....again! Was really ticked off now so on January 12, 2015 I called the number that was in small print underneath the responder from CRCFMC. Another exercise in futility. Spoke with a Debra who advised us: Ford could not and would not extend the service contract. Because Ford had sent monetary compensation for the mpg disparity there was nothing else Ford was going to do. We had waited too long to request an extension (please remember we started this process four months before speaking with Debra). When I asked Debra why there was never any follow-up to my three replies to the CRC emailer, Debra said the 1 800 number is in Florida and the CRC emailer was probably in Michigan. Debra said that essentially there is no coordination between emailing Fords CRC and calling the 1800 number listed in the CRCs email. Isnt that a heck of a way to run a business? So we are done defending Ford when our friends ask us how our FixOrRepairDaily is. We are done buying any Ford, new or used. If we were to win a free car and it turned out to be a Ford we would donate it. In closing, we could have accepted a sorry, it isnt happening to our request of Ford, case over. But the non-response from anyone at Ford shows they could care less..... and now, we dont either.

The car has 17250 miles on it, its 2014 Fiesta Titanium. I have been having transmission problems. Shuddering, shaking, jerking, jolting, sudden or delayed acceleration have all been problems. Low speeds seem to be an issue with it. It seems to shudder in between 1st and 2nd gears. I also have had it stall while in reverse. I have taken it to the Ford dealership, they are aware of the issue, have had multiple complaints, and said they would reprogram the software to make the shift changes more smooth. It is still exhibiting the same issues - harsh shuddering, gears slipping, clicking and noises. Its just a matter of time before this vehicle kills someone. I wasnt told that this car would operate any differently than any other car. The dealership says that all of these symptoms are normal for the kind of transmission that they sold me and that its still safe to drive. Even when I took it in to get reprogrammed for the shuddering, the technician said that its still going to do it. What?! It wasnt doing it before and now you want me to deal with a shuddering vehicle? And you say you still cant fix it? Thats terrible. Ive owned Fords all my life and this is my first new car and I feel like Ive made a terrible decision and its barely got 20,000 miles on it. More importantly, the safety. Ive had more than one close call with trying to accelerate and the transmission not responding in enough time to get out of the way. Operates unlike any other vehicle Ive owned and not in a good way.

2012 Ford Escape - Paint is peeling on both left and right rear wheel wells and the surface is starting to rust. When I reported problem to Ford Dealer they told me to get a repair estimate. I did and they told me they would have to submit it to Ford for approval. They said if I had purchased rust proofing it would have been covered. My position is that if the paint had not peeled there would be no rust. This problem has been identified on many other reviews and at the body shop where I obtained the estimate. I am prepared to take this issue to our provincial auto ombudsman if Ford does not take responsibility.

I have owned a Ford since I got my license at 16 years old. I have had nothing but issues with them, and I always think - Ill just try again. I will not be trying again. The last SUV I had was a Ford Edge. 58,000 miles the computer crashed it. Barely made warranty. 75k I had 2 different parts of the transmission go back to back, within months of each other. Shift solenoid one time, I believe the computer to the transmission the other. $4,000 later! Now, I have a 2015 Ford Fusion, bought brand new. I work from home and really do not drive a ton, but average, slightly under. Has 50,000 miles on it. Its already had the same shift solenoid transmission issue, and now it is back in the shop again - computer crashed. All done! The service guys are great, but the fact that this keeps happening on moderately new vehicles is absolutely unacceptable!

I bought my Ford Freestyle in 2005 brand new. After the first scheduled oil change the gas control panel never registered to the f for full again. I took it in immediately and they tried to fix it 4 times and gave every excuse even said I was going to the wrong gas station and something must be wrong with the pumps. They were aware of this problem through a bulletin and never told me until 18 months and 4 times in the shop to fix when they said the gas tank needed to be replaced. It has never filled to the F even with a new gas tank. They were also aware of the problems with the CVT transmission for the 2005 and never made me aware of it. 2014 I started having the engine light going on and out periodically and took it in to be diagnosed and over the last year I got a list of so-called causes from: needed to be re-calibrated, re-programmed, EGR replacement, PCV valve clogged, and finally after 3 weeks in the dealership service department I was told I needed a new transmission for $8,224.00 on this car with only 73,000 miles on it. I have taken excellent care of this car and now I have to junk it because I cant trust Ford to replace a screw much less a new transmission. Im so angry that I just find out that they knowingly sold me a lemon and kept me in the dark through all kinds of repairs in order not to have to buy back this car. I sunk more than $50,000 dollars into this car and have nothing. I only wish i knew about the class action lawsuit before my warranty was up. Current owner of 2 Ford vehicles. I have a 2019 Ford F150 and a 2016 Ford Edge. Both vehicles have ran awesome for the last several years we have had them. We have loved them since the day we got them. Well, 1 Day after Powertrain warranty expires on the Edge, the check engine light comes on. Odd, but we figure we better get it checked out ASAP. Take it into the shop the following day as that is when they could get us in. Codes P0303 and P0316 pop up for a cylinder 3 misfire. Turns out vehicle needs a TSB 19-2346 performed. For those of you that dont know, that is a whole Long block replacement (Needs a new motor because cylinder 3 burning up coolant). I am frustrated to say the least that ford will not take ownership of the issue, even though they have came out with a full service bulletin for this issue. Keep in mind the vehicle has a perfect service record and only 45,000 miles on it which is well below average. So now I am sitting here with a broke down car that Ford wants me to pay $6,200 to put a new motor in. Bought a brand new 2016 250 Ford Transit 250 van at 12000 miles. Had a howling noise when backing up. Told me my bearings in the rear end were shot. Rebuilt the rear end to no avail. Now at 35000 miles my back brakes are completely wore out. Had big old tires. Tell me its as if Ive been driving with my e brake on. Took it to ford. They cover their ass and tell me its wear and tear and that theyre finding out with these vehicles the back brakes are wearing out quick. Oh did I mention my front brakes are like brand new. Bottom line this vehicle is a PIECE OF **.

They knew this car was a problem for the consumer yet they refuse to help in any way. I will never buy another Ford. Consumer beware. The American people bailed out the car companies and they still cant make a decent car. The car is worthless without the engine.

On 12/1/2013, I started my car (2008 Ford Fusion) and it sounded & seemed normal. However, after driving less than 2 miles, my engine suddenly decelerated and the RPMs dropped dramatically. I tried to accelerate and it would not increase speed. I was able to get off the road safely. I had to have my car towed. The mechanic determined that the problem was due to a faulty power train control module which impacts the ignition coils and the estimated cost of repair is $2100! One of my ignition coils was melted. Ford has issued a Technical Service Bulletin (which suggests replacing the power train control module & all 6 ignition coils) on this issue; however, they do not deem this a safety issue! Cars that just stop running or decelerate quickly is most definitely a safety issue. I can think of many scenarios where this issue could cause injury or perhaps even death. Had I been on a freeway or driving at a greater speed where there was more traffic, I could certainly have ended up in an accident with another vehicle. I researched this concern and found that I am not alone and there have many others affected by the same exact situation. Ford is of the opinion that this should be the responsibility of the car owner and they do not hold themselves accountable. I understand how warranties work and I realize that cars age. However, this issue has nothing to do with wear and tear or age. This is a faulty piece of equipment that is causing a safety issue when it hampers a vehicles ability to continue in a forward motion at a normal rate of speed. Ford Motor Company should issue a safety recall...not just a technical service bulletin.

2012 Ford Edge. Electrical issues. Gas gauge sometimes works; ditto engine warning, over heating light, sun roof, transmission, brakes. Bought new 43,000. Gas gauge and engine warning I complained about to Heller then Perry while under warranty. Never seemed to find anything wrong (remember this). At 95k had 100k service done at Perry. Then tranny fails. Extended warranty (hassle) covered that. They didnt check cooling system, car warning light came on 50 miles from Las Vegas 114 degrees out. Went to Miller Ford in Provo UT. Just a radiator cap, two days and $600. Back to Perry, nothing wrong. Then turn indicator chimes come on, fan goes on automatically, cant turn off, then brakes fail. Send it to Heller now that it is out of warranty. Gee, gas tank sender unit is out (remember couldnt find anything wrong) 1000.00, fan motor bad 700.00, then in three days they cant find what is wrong with brakes - still waiting. Called Ford, they only go on word of dealers. I asked for a Ford field engineer (Ford first call said to ask for one). Ford field rep blew me off. So I have a 43k piece of crap that is unsafe and Ford blows me off. Any attorneys out there doing class action?

The 1998 Mercury Mountaineer is a durable reliable car and I was able to get a good deal. It was only $2000 and has over 150,000 miles on it. The color is dark green and I like how it has a sun roof and that it has all-wheel drive. We have owned this car for about two years and hasnt been expensive to keep up with maintenance. The car only gets about 12 miles to the gallon so I wish that the gas mileage could be improved and be like that of the Honda I used to own.

It maneuvers really great on the road & its driving comfort is perfect. Mileage is really good too? We have had several different makes of vehicles but the two Fords that we have are what we were looking for & to date the service has been excellent! Our prev vehicle had repairs/replacements that needed to be done at 100k and we were not advised when purchased. Ford was truthful & did their best to find what we were looking for including the color. Their service dept has notified us any time they see something of concern and its not always costly. The vehicles are a joy to drive. We were always Chev people but their sales staff were not very accommodating & refused to deal to make the sale. Their loss!

I purchased a 2011 Ford Edge Certified pre-owned with 26000 miles. This vehicle has been in for major repairs within the last two years. Vehicle has AWD. The power transfer unit failed at approximately 60000 miles. The backup camera does not work at all. Just a blank black screen. Several valves went bad. The car was at a Ford dealer for 12 days. The backup camera no longer works. Its just a black screen. The only thing to be done with is replace it at the tune of $866.00. I did not have the camera replaced due to the substantial cost. The latest problem is the catalytic converters. They went bad at 75000 miles. The service engine soon comes on and flashes and then goes off. Called dealer and took it in. This was in January 2017.I was told both catalytic converters have to be replaced. The dealership told me they would have both converters by mid-February 2017. I called them at the end of the February and now they do not know when they will be getting the catalytic converters in. Really??? Note that I am still driving the vehicle and have not been offered a rental car as of yet. I was told not to take the vehicle on long trips because of the converters being bad. How long am I going to have to wait to have this fixed??? This will be the last thing that gets fixed on this car because if one more thing happens to it I will be getting rid of it. I am very disappointed in Ford and I have had several. Time to look at the foreign SUVs.

I purchased a 2013 Ford Focus as a new vehicle eight years ago. I soon regretted the decision after discovering other Focus owners had significant transmission issues and that the transmission was designed so the fluid could never be changed which suggested planned obsolescence to me. The transmission often shifted strangely despite periodic computer adjustments and tended to ride somewhat roughly in slow city driving. While I had concerns about its useful lifespan, my Focus did a low average job of getting me from point A to point B until recently. As someone who believes in getting value from their purchases, I had hoped to drive the car for 10 to 15 years from the time of purchase. This should not be an unreasonable expectation for someone who makes certain that their cars have good maintenance and put only limited mileage on a vehicle as I no longer have a daily commute. In April of this year, the car developed an excessive shudder. The vehicle was in the shop for several days and the clutch had to be replaced. One week ago, the vehicle would not start and seemed to be just a bad battery but the diagnostics showed a transmission control module problem. The part is on back order so as a previous post suggests it could be in the shop indefinitely. The mileage is still in the low 60s and the vehicle has been well maintained. The problem is the lack of quality in a failed transmission system rendering a vehicle useless before even reaching the 10 year milestone. I most definitely will never purchase another Ford product again.

Issues so far. Cabin air filter, horn sticking (both fixed by warranty). Not fixed by warranty: Loud noise in door, transmission, rear hatch, rear glass. Ford refuses to honor warranty. Dealership has been unable to fix issues. I have tried to call the regional warranty person at ford for over 3 months. Left over 15 messages. Warranty position has been held by 3 different people. Not one of them has called me back. I am not out of pocket over $1k in repairs that should have been covered under warranty if ford stood by their word. The transmission is slipping badly but dealership says they can do nothing as no code is thrown. I pray that it completely goes out before warranty period is over so they might fix it. I almost forgot, there is an exhaust leak that dealership claims is not there. The transmission also leaked fluid beginning at 20k miles. Rear hatch mechanism failed twice under warranty. Now that out of warranty and failed again, they refuse to cover. Cannot open rear hatch. Rear window exploded on freeway in snowstorm. Nothing touched it.Rear defrost was not running, only the rear wiper. Computer has shut down twice now and caused all of the dummy lights to come on when driving. Problem is intermittent and I am told there is nothing that can be done. I am beyond upset and frustrated and cannot believe that I cannot even get so much as a phone call back from the warranty department of ford corporate. Going to try to blast them everywhere I can and plan to go over options with lawyer this Friday.

Fire dept. took an ax to the hood cause the linkage was melted and they couldnt open hood to put fire out (strange why they choose that spot). No indication as to why or how this happened. We have a 2015 Ford Explorer. The paint on the hood is actually bubbling off. We took it to a Ford dealership and spoke with the service manager and he confirmed that it was a defect and that they had seen the issue before. He suggested we contact Ford for resolution and gave us a number to refer to. We contacted Ford and since the car was over the warranty by miles it was not in years. They denied the claim stating it was out of the warranty period. We took it to an auto body shop and they again stated that it is a common issue with Fords because the hood is aluminum and does not hold the paint. We initially brought this up while we were within 1000 miles of the warranty as well as 6 months before the 3 year mark. We cannot believe that a $50,000 vehicle has the paint peeling due to a defect and they refuse to stand behind it. We had purchased the extended warranty but apparently it does not cover the paint. Ford should be ashamed of themselves. This is not a quality product. Last Ford we will purchase!

I was initially very excited about what appeared to be very positive changes at Ford, and purchased both an F150 FX4 pickup, and a Lincoln MKC SUV. Nice to feel good again about buying American vehicles. But I learned the hard way that Ford does a terrible job of standing behind their products. With the F150 truck, there was a brake booster recall that took months to resolve. And they will use any excuse to not honor warranties. On the truck, bubbling rust started to appear on one of the running boards with less than 30,000 miles on the vehicle. When I initially went to the local dealer to have the truck washed and have this looked at, they told me to come back because the car wash wasnt working. I came back 2 weeks later (the dealer is not convenient to get to) and was told that even though the truck had less than 30,000 miles, it was now 11 days out of warranty and Ford might not cover the repair. The claim was submitted and Ford denied it. Yet clearly this rust problem did not just magically appear just after the warranty expired. Fords decision to not honor this minor claim shows how little they value their customers. And that they dont stand behind their products. As the saying goes - people vote with their feet. Thankfully there are many worthy competitors that prioritize customer service. I have learned a lesson and will never buy another Ford product.

Fiesta ST - I felt intermittent squeaking and occasional friction in mine and deeply regret not taking it to the dealer the moment I noticed it. Pretty frightening episode, too, since the car stopped dead on Lake Shore Drive in Chicago with heavy 60 MPH traffic and no shoulder.Called 911 who dispatched a tow truck but it was a tense fifteen minutes of desperately waving unsuspecting drivers around my dead Ford. Its a nice car: good performance and practical, but if the manufacturer doesnt back what they sell better to buy from a more reliable brand like Honda, Toyota, Mazda, or Subaru who have all served me well in the past. Ill avoid Ford in the future in favor of automakers that provide real warranties and better reliability.

Purchased a new Ford F-150 on 6/27/2015 from HemBorg Ford in Norco, Ca. External fan came on a few times as soon as the truck was started while we moved the truck in and out of our shop and would not shut off unless we turn engine off and restarted truck. On September 1 after picking the truck up from getting the decals the battery light came on. The following day I made a phone call up to our local mechanic to see if he could check out why the battery light was on since they are a half mile from where I lived. Pulled the truck out of the shop and let it run for about 30 minutes while I cleaned it to see if maybe the light was on because the truck had been sitting in the shop. I then got in the truck and drove off. It is about 12 miles from our shop to the local mechanic shop but after getting on the freeway the Sync system notified me. I was going to lose power to some electric powered features or something of that sort. It didnt repeat it. It only said it once so I cant remember exactly. I turned off the radio and air thinking maybe its a low battery issue. A few minutes later all the indicator lights came on and the truck lost power. I looked in my mirror to get over and to my horror I saw smoke pouring out from under the truck out the back. As soon as I pulled over the smoke was coming out from under the hood as well as flames were starting to come out too. I popped the hood and jumped out looking for my fire extinguisher and in panic could locate it. I ran to the front of the truck and tried to unlatch the hood, but the smoke and flames were pouring out. A guy ran up and started with his fire extinguisher, but we couldnt get the flames down enough to get the hood opened. By the time the fire department got there, the front tires caught fire and blew into the field which started a 5-acre fire which did slightly damage some decks on a few homes. The fire dept didnt put any water on the truck because they were trying to save these peoples homes and I watched in horror. The truck and all our equipment burn to the ground. Some people say why didnt we bring it in when the external fan came on but honestly most people would have even noticed it. I know because we own 9 Fords between our business and personal but since the truck was only at our shop and not in service yet it would be brought in before it was ready to go into service the Ford dealer.I would have brought it to was father then my local mechanic so it wouldnt have made it either way. I am beside myself with this. Did the fan keep coming on because the computer was telling the truck something was hot? Why did the battery light come on (I did take a picture of the dash when I was pulling into the shop after we picked it up from getting decals and it shows the light on. Please help.

Defective Sunroof issue in 2015-2017 models - Warranty expired & about 2 month after that I left my vehicle out & it rained heavily. I found water dripping near the framework on the passenger side, between the windshield & door. The floor mat was full of water. I dumped it out - tried to dry out the carpet. It was so saturated I couldnt get it all out. Then when driving it I actually heard swooshing sounds when I came to stops. Meanwhile I thought it was some fluke or the bad rainstorm. Then when we washed @ the Morries Ford car wash, we noticed it again. So we looked online & sure enough there were many others who reported the same or similar issues. Meanwhile mold had developed & Morries said I did have the defective part/sunroof. Filed a claim & the best Ford will do is only cover Half the cost to replace their defective sunroof. I am going to file a complaint with our Atty. General. I paid once for this feature when I bought it brand new. I should not have to pay for it again due to it being a defective sunroof. Last night, I spent the night at my boyfriends. I was awakened to the sound of an alarm and people screaming. I looked out the window and his Ford 1995 F150 was blazing. There were flames and black smoke and the smell of rubber. He was working and so, after calling the fire department, I called him. The truck had been sitting in the parking lot for three days and this night was the coldest night of the week and it was raining. I was thinking that someone set the truck on fire but, after reading the information on this site, I am shocked and amazed. I bought a 2016 F-150 and absolutely loved it! My issue is not with the truck itself, but with the lack of customer service from the dealer all the way to Ford Credit. I would have Ford do the regular maintenance on the truck and with that regular maintenance came regular frustration. When told that it would be ready at a certain time they never delivered. When you call to ask when it would be ready, no one had an answer. Due to financial situation and wanting to help my parents out, I sold my truck. Not because I wanted to, but because it had to be done. When trying to process the paper work at local Ford deal, they were more worried about eating chips and salsa in the manager’s office instead of getting things finalized and me out the door. After 2 hours they finally had me sign the little amount of paperwork I needed and I was out the door. I was told that the reimbursement check for the over pay would be in my mail in 3-4 weeks. After numerous conversations with Ford Credit CS, and 7 week of waiting, theyve decided to stop payment and reissue the check. Did they offer to expedite it, or send it with a tracking number? No... I loved my truck… It reminded me of the summers I got to spend with my grandfather riding around in his. However, I believe the price you pay for a product should represent the quality of their customer service as well. Ford, your customer service in all departments needs to be improved. You put a high price on your vehicles, your customer service should be better equipped, better trained, and better ready to serve the people that buy your vehicles. Based on my CS experience with Ford, I doubt I will be back to get another one in my future, nor will I recommend it to anyone.

The transmission on my daughters 2008 Ford Fusion AWD was diagnosed as bad
The transmission on my daughters 2008 Ford Fusion AWD was diagnosed as bad with 85k on it which required a new one (the internal part was not serviceable) to be installed at a cost approx $5k (she was away at college and all contact with the service dept was via phone). The PTU (the mechanism that transfers the power to the back wheels) was removed from the bad trans and installed on the new one, but the dealership failed to replace $20 worth of seals that Fords service manual requires done when any time the PTU is removed. Now a leak from these internal seals has appeared. To repair the leak, almost the entire front right of the transaxle must be removed which accounts for 90% of the cost due to the 6 hours labor. If the job was done right, when the trans was out of the car, and the PTU was on the bench, labor would have been nearly nothing (I would have paid the nominal amount if asked). The dealership will do nothing saying It didnt leak before and most troubling the Ford Customer Service Dept will not do anything either saying its a dealership workmanship problem and they have no ability to force them to do anything they dont want to do although its their blue oval outside. Thanks for listening, where do I go next (If any)?

I own two Ford vehicles, a F350 Ford diesel King ranch 2016 and a 2018 Ford explorer Platinum two of Fords top of the line vehicles. The Ford explorer third row electric seat began having issues within the warranty period at 21k miles and within 1 month of the vehicle warranty expiration. Just a couple of weeks after the expiration of the 36th month warranty but well within the 36k mile warranty (25k miles on The vehicle) third row seat would no longer operate (only having been used a few times). One of the main reasons we purchased the vehicle was for the third row seat for our grandchildren. After several trips to two different dealerships it was determined that the wire harness would need to be replaced and in order to do that apparently much of the vehicle needs to be disassembled. A very significant effort and expense to repair. I felt surely Ford would stand behind me and rectified what was clearly a defective mechanism. After several months of back and forth and Ford stringing me along ultimately they would not provide ANY assistance. Worse multiple requests for them to provide that decision in writing were simply ignored. I have never been so appalled at a major corporations lack of professionalism in handling a customer service issue. My experience with them has left me realizing that FORD is a two-bit company not interested in customer service or standing behind their product. FORD NEVER AGAIN.

Comfortable car to drive but blind spots on driver and passenger sides near mirrors is dangerous design flaw. Problems with rodents eating through wiring which is a problem I never had with older cars.

My 2014 Ford Explorer Limited had many issues, mostly small annoying problems that could be resolved quickly, however, Ford service is the worst on the planet, they will make you cry every time you come to see them, and I have tried 3 different dealerships here in California. So they always want to keep the car all day and almost always come back to me at around 4 pm to let me know that they are not able to duplicate the issue, even though in many cases I took a ride with their technician who verified the sound. Then they tell me that the sound I am hearing is normal. One time I lost 4 days dealing with them until they finally replaced the half shaft, now I am having same issue and same argument with them. I have now told so many people not to buy Ford and I am posting everywhere on the Internet about my experience.

Warning to all Ford F-150 owners for this recall. Ford will not give owners a loaner vehicle during this repair. It appears that Ford really doesnt care whether or not their customers are injured as a result of their faulty vehicles nor do they care about the logistical difficulties of not having a loaner vehicle. Shame on you Ford!

About six months ago around midnight my 2001 Ford truck caught on fire in the engine compartment and the fire was caught by our security camera. The next day the fire inspector informed me that there was a recall that was not performed on the truck and the defect was a switch under the hood that caused engine fires. I contacted Ford several times. Each time they said you will receive a letter within 15 days. Well its been months and nothing has been done by Ford?? I believe that Ford should have paid me for the loss of the truck.
