I purchased/financed a 2016 Tucson Limited AWD in November 2015. In August 2016, I started experiencing issues with my transmission. Whenever I am in traffic, my car will buck and feels like its going to stall and sometimes barely accelerates. When Im stopped at a stop sign or traffic light and go to take off, my car barely accelerates. There are times where Im barely going 5 mph and the RPMs are high and then all of a sudden will start bucking and then go into gear. Ive had 3 almost near accidents because of this. When Hyundai came out with the DCT recall in October 2016, I brought my car to the dealership for service on the transmission recall. I continued to have the same issue, but it recently got much much worse. I brought my car back to the dealership on 4/1/2017 for the same issue. They performed the same exact recall again. As I was driving to work on Tuesday, 4/4/2017 my car started doing the same exact thing. I called the dealership right away and dropped off my car the next day. I picked up my car on Thursday, 4/6/2017 and drove it to work today, Friday, 4/7/2017 and I was experiencing the same EXACT thing. I drive almost 80 miles a day to and from work, always in traffic and Im terrified to be stuck in traffic, or to sit at a light/stop sign because Im afraid Im going to get in to an accident because of this. I called the dealership again today to let them know that Im still experiencing this and the service adviser left me a message saying that theres not much more he can do other than to keep performing the update on the DCT. That update was performed 3 times now and we havent gotten anywhere. Im terrified to drive around with my infant in this car let alone myself. Ive reached out to corporate and filed a case with them. This car is unsafe!!!!
There has been problems with the suspension on this 2007 Santa Fe since 2010 with very low mileage. It took 5 to 6 visits before the dealer would even admit a problem. Problems with tie rods, lower arm assembly, stabilizer links, lateral arms bilaterally with no resolution of clunking metal to metal sound from front of vehicle. Now that the car is out of warranty supposedly, the dealer conveniently finds the lower arm on the right needs replaced. Hyundai needs to admit to widespread suspension problems without dragging on until out of warranty. I still have 100,000 mile warranty with only 80,600 miles but supposedly, this is not a covered service even though it all started at 48,000 miles.
Hyundai has the worst leasing programs in the business. Do not fall for their lease plan. My wife turned her Equis recently. The car was 12,000 miles under so she thought she was fine. She had the Hyundai dealer wash the car when she took it in for an oil change. They used a pressure washer and took some of the pearl white off the plastic bumper. The manager said they have had issues with this paint and not to worry. Hyundai sent a person out to look at her car and write it up. She wrote down the paint issue. She said it needed a new tire. The tire in question was well within the safe range. Note that this vehicle was known to have under equipped tires on them and she kept the same when she replaced them. After 24,000 miles she had purchased two sets of tires. The Equis was their top of the line vehicle and their bottom of the line vehicles had more bells and whistles on them. My wife had asked before purchasing the vehicle about all of the things like bluetooth and was assured it had it but the salesman didnt know how to work it. That was a lie. She went back the day after purchasing the vehicle and was told Too bad, were sorry. Cant do anything about it. I will say it was the best driving vehicle weve had and I did enjoy it. The problem was the Hyundai Lease, they lie, cheat and dig into your back pocket. DO NOT LEASE THROUGH HYUNDAI. Purchase the vehicle outright or find another lease option. My wife showed the Texas Hyundai Lease manager her original correspondence and how Hyundai Lease didnt get back to her the first week she had it. They do not care about you, just the money.We are waiting on a recall for the white paint to get our money back. Tire places including the dealership said the tire in question was within code. The dealership said they would have waived all of the issues Hyundai Lease found. Remember, youre getting the car from a dealership but youre dealing with Hyundai underhand Lease.
I would like to state my utter disgust and anger at the horrible customer service I have received by Hyundai Consumer Affairs. The engine blew on my 2017 Hyundai Sonata over a week and a half ago. I had it towed to Bill Dube Hyundai in Wilmington, MA. I have been waiting ever since for someone, anyone, to give me answer as to when my car will be fixed.There has been absolutely no sense of urgency and zero care or consideration for me, the customer, who has been without a car for nearly 2 weeks. It is reprehensible that this much time has gone by and not a single person can even tell me WHEN I will get an answer. The case has even been escalated. But the person it was escalated to does not answer his phone and has a recording that he will call you back within 3-days. HOW IS THAT AN ESCALATION!!!!So now another week has gone by and Im without a car or answers. The person answering the 800 number at Consumer Affairs tells me hes going to send an alert message to Scott my case manager and if he doesnt get back to me today he should by Monday. This is the same response I got from the Bill Dube dealer last week. Well I waited until Monday, nobody called me and I still have no answers. When and if this ever comes to a conclusion I will certainly be sure to tell everyone I know and anyone who will listen to NEVER BUY A HYUNDAI. Hyundai does not back up their product or care about their customers. This is deplorable.
I like Hyundai alright, but feel like its only a middle of the road car. Little things have broken such as door sensors and windshield wiper motor that were trouble to fix, but didnt break the bank.
My first experience was when I received the recall notice for my 2006 Sonata about the airbags sensor for front passenger seat. I had Sports Durst in Durham check it when I took it in for service (been a while back) and was told nothing was wrong. Later, when someone over 90 lbs was sitting in seat, the airbag light would indicate that it was turned off. I took it to Crenshaw Hyundai in Burlington where they checked it. They confirmed it was faulty and mailed my seat to California for service. Now, my airbag light is back on again and was told by Crenshaw Hyundai that since it had been repaired, the recall work is no longer under warranty. It seems after reading all these complaints that it would not do any good to have it repaired because the majority says the light comes back on or the airbags failed to deploy in accidents or just deployed for no reason. I use to like Hyundais but after this I will never own another one nor recommend them.
Whatever you do when you buy a Hyundai, carry Emergency Roadside with your insurance company. DO NOT RELY ON THIS PIECE OF CRAP SERVICE! Especially when it comes to your safety! Locked keys in car, as well as money, credit cards, and of course, cell phone. Only had new Accent about 4 months, decided she has it out for me. Ive never had such bad luck with any of the possibly 20 cars Ive owned. Im not here to write all my complaints about this gas guzzling, gutless, cheap economy car. But the 800 # on the window? Scrap it off and toss it. Wont do any good, unless you have your phone, flashlight, eyeglasses, and nothing better to do than stand in the rain, at night, in a sketchy hood in the dark fighting off bums for almost three hours. I dont care what youve heard about Hawaii and Aloha spirit! Most Local People HATE ** people and do not like to be bothered by us in time of need, no way no how. Ive lived here many years and can tell you Aloha is a farse, like, an honest politician. Kid at gas station did NOT appreciate my asking to use the business phone for an emergency, then called number on car door, was still daylight so could read vin #. Took forever to answer all the questions, then the customer service guy said he needed callback #. Told him I didnt have one available, the business phone was not happening, and my phone is locked in car. I was very descriptive of my location, no callback # available but was assured, within an hour??? I would be assisted but need to stay by car. So hour and a half go by, no one. I reluctantly asked kid to use phone again, called 800 # again, they had no record of my first call, so again they want my vin #, dark now cant see it, my name, phone #, email address couldnt find my ownership anywhere, they need a call back #, Im pissed at this point. They would not be able to promise help without callback #. So tried to break out back window, kid from gas station finally feeling sorry for poor 60 yr old woman in the rain and the dark, assisted me with calling a nearby locksmith. Almost 3 hrs later and $250 cash!!! Not even gonna bother with asking for any refund, ya already know theres fine print somewhere excluding the hardship I went through. So, because the car is crap, roadside service is crap, warranty will be crap when I tell em to shove the $60, less than 1000 mile, every three month oil change, without even so much as a vacuum job. Wait til they see the back window I tried to bang out with a rock! Screw it. Crappy car. Crappy service.
My 2011 Hyundai Sonata died on me last night while driving home on the 210 Fwy without any warning whatsoever. AAA towed it to Parkway Hyundai in Valencia, CA. I received a call today from the dealership telling me I need a new engine. Although my car has 150,000 miles on it, they are mostly easy highway miles and I have not had any mechanical issues up to now. I regularly have maintenance done to the vehicle. I am furious after reading numerous complaints from other 2011 Hyundai Sonata owners with the same problem and Hyundai not accepting any responsibility.
My 87 year old Mother took her 2010 Hyundai Elantra to her local dealer who has always done her oil changes. She received a call from the service manager telling her the underside of her car was so severely rusted that repairs would be so expensive. He suggested she get rid of her car stating that it would be dangerous for her to drive it. Her car has 19,000 miles and is two months away from being paid off after a five year auto loan. The car had last been brought in for an oil change in December 2014. No one ever mentioned any concerns about rust only five months ago! So, apparently all of this rust happened in a period of four months! I went with her to pick the car up. We are scheduling a second opinion for this week. Something is just not right. It is a common experience for the visors to fall around 60,000 miles on Hyundai Accents. I found 22 complaints on the internet right away, without delving very deeply. The driver visor fell on my head while driving, so I couldnt see for about 15 seconds. This is very dangerous. It also hurt my head. Had to hold the visor up until I got home. Then had to cut it off. The passenger visor fell a few months later. Called customer service and they kept telling me a case manager would call me. He was supposed to call within 3-5 business days. He didnt call for 25 days, until I kept calling and wrote a customer complaint on the Hyundai site. Even though this is quite a common issue... and a safety issue that is happening to many people, I was told that Hyundai wont do anything to help with the costs. It costs $300 to get both visors fixed.
My daughters 2012 Tuscon (ix35) has just been diagnosed as needing a new motor despite having been Hyundai serviced at every specified interval. Car has traveled only 101,000 kms or 60,000 miles. Reading all other reviews it seems Hyundai have the same game plan outside of Australia too. They refer you to customer care, a young person who claims no car knowledge and simply contacts the dealer to contact the customer and of course they dont and so the cycle continues until you get sick of their game. North Korea has the little rocket man, but South Korea has a secret weapon called Hyundai. No thanks to customer care in Sydney and no thanks to Blood Hyundai in Geelong,Victoria.Dealer promised my heartbroken daughter an email on how much it would cost to replace engine. We have heard nothing. It took me 1 call to a Hyundai wrecker- $4900 to supply & fit used motor and internet research found another owner same car same problem quoted $8 to 14k. 2 lessons learnt here, first dont get car serviced at dealerships and no more foreign made cars. I own 2 Ford Falcons, an 07 ute with over 300k drives like new and a US 63 Falcon with original engine and tranny 56 years old and still in use. Hyundai do not touch them. Its just a matter of time.
I purchased a new 2011 Hyundai Sonata from Cocoa Hyundai in Cocoa Beach, FL. At the time, I was driving a 2008 Suzuki SX-4. I was looking to trade it in due to the warranty expiring and it having high miles. Originally, I had come in asking for the Elantra, as it was in the same size category. I got there and test drove the Elantra and thought it was ok, very fuel efficient. I then test drove the Sonata and immediately fell in love with it. The interior is very roomy. It also feels better when you drive it. I then worked up a deal with the dealership. At the time, I had very good credit. Looking back at the total cost of the vehicle, I dont believe I got such a great deal after all. The only reason I purchased there was because I had a friend of mine working at the dealer. He assured me he would take care of me and give me a great deal. Finally, after 2 1/2 hours of negotiating with the salesman, we came to an agreement on the price and monthly payment. It was more than I was wanting to spend; my monthly payment jumped up about an extra $125 a month. I told my wife we would make it work out somehow as we both really liked the vehicle. I would just cut back on things. We drove the vehicle home and were happy. 2 months after purchasing the vehicle, we received a notice in the mail saying there was recalls on it. We called the Closest dealer to our home which was Universal Hyundai in Orlando, FL and scheduled an appointment. We arrived to this dealer just to see a bunch of people standing around doing nothing. It took nearly 15 minutes for someone to finally acknowledge us. They told us they had no records of us even being in their service log. I guess someone had dropped the ball. They said theyll squeeze us in anyways. They told us the car would not be ready for several days as they did not have the parts available. I told them that was fine, but I didnt have transportation to work, as this is my main form of transportation. They said, Well, we have rental cars which are $40 a day. I told them I should not have to pay for something that is not my fault and the warranty should cover it. Finally, after arguing with the Service Manager for nearly a half hour, he said they would comp the rental fee. I picked up my car several days later and they handed me a bill for nearly $300. I told them the warranty should cover all this. They reviewed it and found it to be an error on their part. Since this experience, I have visited the dealer on numerous occasions for servicing. It has always been an ongoing issue for us. We also attempted to purchase a new vehicle, at the same dealer, for my wife back in November 2012. When we arrived, we were greeted by a gentleman, dont remember his name. He was quick to get us inside for a credit application. Didnt even allow us to test drive a car and figure out what we liked. After seeing that my wife did not have perfect credit, but fair credit, he then passed us over to a younger gentleman and said he had his appointment show up. It was an older couple that appeared to be well off. The younger gentlemen walked us around the car lot like lost puppies for about 20 minutes not knowing what type of car we wanted. My wife was looking for a smaller SUV like the Tucson and he began to show us the Elantra and the Accent. These are Hyundais more smaller, compact vehicles. My wife quickly spoke and said to him, Why are you showing us these cars? He said, Well this is within your budget and your credit. We had not even given him our budget. I told him we were looking at SUVs. That is what we told the other salesman. He said he told him to show us these cars. At this point, my wife became angry and said, Lets get out of here. These guys dont know what theyre doing. I told her to relax, lets at least get a test drive in before leaving. We test drove multiple vehicles and my wife really liked the Tucson. After this, we told him to work out some numbers. Told him we did not want to pay more than $400. He comes at us with $520 a month with $2000 down. I told him that would not work. He said, Well, theres the door if you dont like it. I looked at my wife and I was like wow, this is how they treat customers. We left very disappointed that day. Finally, this year, we had gone out Christmas shopping for the day. After doing our shopping, we came back to find that our Sonata was not starting. We checked the battery, even tried to get a jump start, but still nothing. After about an hour of exhausting all my options, I saw that there was a Tire Kingdom nearby. I pushed the car all the way to the lot. After speaking to the tech, he noticed the battery cable was loose, so he tightened it up. I was praying that it may have been the problem. We tried starting the car again and still got nothing. Finally, he told me there is something wrong with the starter. He recommended me contacting Hyundai because it would be about a $600 job. I then called Hyundai roadside assistance. They sent a tow truck to pickup my car. I was a good 25 miles from home. It was later in the evening so I asked them to tow it to the dealer closest to my home, again Universal Hyundai. I called and spoke to service department and they advised me to put the key in the afterhours drop box and fill out the form; I did. The next morning, I received a call from a service advisor and told me it would be $110 just to diagnose my car not including any repairs. My mileage was at 61k, the warranty had just ended at 60k. I asked him to help me out, but He said the warranty is pretty cut and dry, there was nothing anyone could do once you go over 60. I told him I guess I have no choice I needed the car fixed. He called me up about 2 hours later and told me it was the cable that connected the starter that was loose. Im thinking great, maybe it will be cheap repair since its just a cable not the starter. He quoted me a price of $340. I was so shocked to find this out. Right now is probably the worst time for something like this to happen, especially during the holidays. I had to gather up some cash and borrow money from family members just to cover this as I did not have a choice in the matter. I need my vehicle to get to work and back. He said the car would work with just this connection, but I could replace the whole starter if I wanted to. I picked up my car and looked at the invoice to see the part was $13.82, with $280 worth of labor fees, something that probably took less than 10 minutes to fix. The service advisor also told me there was an issue also with the steering column, something the warranty did not cover either. I was like what. He said the repair with parts and labor would be around a $1300 job. The warranty does not cover this. I contacted the service manager as a last resort and got nowhere, just the runaround. The service manager kept pointing the blame at Hyundai. He advised me to contact Hyundai customer support. I quickly called Hyundai and spoke with a person by the name of Fran. I explained the story once again to her and informed her that my warranty was over by a thousand miles and she looked to see if there may have been any recalls on my vehicle for any repairs. She did not find any, just ones that had already been repaired on my vehicle. She clearly stated without the warranty, there is nothing that can be done. I explained my frustration and told her I have had nothing but issues with this vehicle from the time I purchased it. She said, Let me get my case manager on the line, so you could speak with them. I waited for several minutes and a person by the name John came on the line. He was very cold and monotone in the way he spoke to me. He just confirmed once again what Fran had said about the warranty and was quick to point finger back at the dealer. I told him I have already contacted the dealer and they are pointing the blame on Hyundai. I told him Somebody has to step up to the plate and get this taken care of. This was something that was going on prior to the warranty expiring. He said there was nothing he can do, but just contact the dealer on my behalf and see if they will do it as a courtesy, or good will to not lose a customer. He said the turnaround time for this is 3 days. I told 3 days is unacceptable. He said it may not take a whole 3 days, that is the time frame. At this point, I was livid and just said thats fine. He called me the next day and said, I cant help nor can the dealer. I told him this will be the last time I ever purchase a Hyundai. I called back again and spoke with several other people and all of them had nasty attitudes with me. I guess they must made an extensive file about me being upset. This will be my last time buying a Hyundai. I guess the parts they use on their vehicles are only designed to last up to 60k miles. After that, youre pretty much on your own. I know Suzuki doesnt make cars anymore in the US, but I drove 2 new Suzuki’s for well over 90k miles and never had a problem. Boy, I wish Suzuki was still in the US. Id be getting rid of this car in a jiffy. I guess this was a hard lesson learned, but I will just try and finish paying it off, then trade it in.
I have purchased Hyundai EON car in India as company introduce it in market in the month of Nov. 2011, after two months company upgraded the model providing extra facilities and decreased rates. Question is, are we fool to give immediate response to new model by purchasing in high rates. So please upgrade our model also as otherwise we feel cheated.
I made a huge mistake and got a Hyundai lease. That was the wroth experience in my life. I spent many hours on phone calls with Hyundai Moto Finance and they crushed my credit report. Very poor service and very unfriendly personal. Dont ever lease Hyundai cars.
I was in a no-fault accident February 25 2019. I had a small little crack on the driver side of the vehicle which triggered the airbag light to stay on in my vehicle reminder the airbags did not deploy. After waiting two months for the body collision to do the basic repairs my vehicle was sent to two Hyundai dealerships and neither dealership can figure out why the airbag light was still on. I called Hyundai corporate office. They put a hold on my vehicle for two weeks. They didn’t offer a loaner vehicle or a rental for the hassle and stress I been through and just told me to have the service center work on the vehicle. After being there for a month they did not reimburse me and I have a son with a disability and they did not make anything urgent or help my situation. The claim case was missed handled. My son been out of school for two months. Very disappointing!
I am late in updating this review.The Hyundai dealer found issue with rear coupler on inspection. I had to take the SUV back to the dealer a week later as they had to order the parts.The Correction comment states - Replaced 4WD Coupling Assy - listed at $549.50. It was all covered under warranty so I did not have to pay for anything.
We have a 2019 Hyundai Kona with just under 20,000 miles on it. We purchased this vehicle for our daughter to go to work and school. The back seat has started to fail at the seams. Hyundai says it’s not defective and will not cover. I also have a Honda van that has 160,000 miles on it without a single seat issue. I will never purchase another Hyundai and will tell everyone I meet to avoid at all cost. Extremely pour customer service.
I am very disappointed with Hyundai. I purchased a 2015 Sonata sport on September 28 and 17 days later I went thru the car wash and the shark fin came off during the wash and it broke into pieces. I called the dealership and they quoted some ridiculous price for a plastic cover, I couldnt believe it, so next I called Hyundai corporate office to see if it was cover by warranty and was told no and they were sorry to hear about my misfortune and I am simply furious and sad at the same time because the refused to accommodate me in any way with a simple matter after not even having the care for a month. I see that they dont stand by their product and dont care about their customers satisfaction. I would hate to see what happens if I have a major problem. I am sure that that computer board underneath isnt supposed to be exposed but Hyundai could care less I see. So next I guess itll get ruined. I cant believe Hyundai would be so unconcerned and inconsiderate of its customers. I am also sure the fin should just come off in a car wash so it had to be defective before. I will tell all my family and friends that Hyundai is not a honorable company and it does not care for its customers and does not stand by their products. I should have known better when I read the articles about the car fires and they didnt take care of the people in that situation. I dont know why I expected them to give a crap about my issue. I have an appointment with south town Hyundai tomorrow. I dont know why or if I should even keep the appointment because I cant afford their prices. I was so excited about my new car and I actually love it, however this disappointment I have for Hyundai I have right now makes me never again buy or trust Hyundai. Live, learn and research before you buy. DONT BUY HYUNDAI!!!
Failure to live up to warranty - The ESC light comes on and the car goes into a limp mode? It vibrates and wont accelerate. Five failures in the past 30 days. The general manager now tells me the car is fine, but he cant say what theyve repaired. Meanwhile, Hyundai Consumer Assistance 800-633-5151 gave me a case number and then advised me that they shipped the case to their regional office but cant give me the telephone number. The regional office was to call me last week and then this week, no calls. Some warranty!
I have a 2016 Hyundai Veloster Turbo and it kept stalling while in drive. My seats started cracking after only 6 months. My resonator and exhaust has to be replaced with less than 6000 miles on it. Hyundai definitely needs to recall this vehicle because my car has been back and forth in the shop due to the mechanics solely depending on computer codes to find whats wrong. Do it the old way. Actually look at the components and parts of the car. It should not take almost 3 weeks to figure out the grounding wires were bad.
I leased a 2017 Hyundai Azera, and because I liked the car so much I purchased it in 2020 at the end of the lease with only 19,200 miles on it. On 9/9/20, my car would not start. I brought it to the dealership and was told the battery was fine. A week later, my car would not start and I brought it back to service. A week later and for the third week in a row, my car would not start. The car was in service for five days. 2.5 weeks later, my car would not start. It was in service for four weeks. Two days after picking the car up from service, the car would not start. It went back to service for the fifth time in four months, and was there for 45 days. Five days after picking the car up from service, the car would not start. It is now back in service for the SIXTH TIME in five months.It has been in service for almost 90 days and counting since September, with no answers in sight. I am working with Hyundai Consumer Affairs, but am not getting any answers or help - all while still paying for the car that has not even been in my possession for three months. When I have had it, I had to jump start it 100% of the time I needed to go somewhere.
Do not use this car dealership to buy a used car. I bought a 2005 Mercury Mountaineer. The car was used and I realized used cars have problems, but they knowingly reset the engine codes on this car to clear bad catalytic converter codes out of the car computer (there has to be laws against this). A couple days after I had purchased the car the check engine light came on. When I took it to a local dealership the dealer told me that with a reading that high the cars had to have been bad for quite some time. So the car was misrepresented to me during purchase. The car also had traction control light on and traction control not working, a problem with the accelerator (which could be the transmission I dont know yet) and a cracked windshield. The car also had 4 different kinds of tires on it, a couple had dry rot and didnt seem safe to me (consequently I replaced the tires first, they werent safe). The online listing didnt represent any of these details and neither did the dealer. I drove all the way from Dallas to Sherman to purchase the car. After spending the time to drive from Dallas to Sherman we got the sum total of about 10 words out of **. This is after he told us he would be available when we got there. Instead he worked with someone that was obviously buying a more expensive car. Dont buy a car from liars and cheats, stay away from this dealership. This dealership clearly should get out of the used car market, most new car dealerships stand behind the used cars they choose to sell on their lots and guarantee them. This dealership however does not fall into that category. You may be ok buying a new car here but I would strongly advise you to not buy a used car from them. They shouldnt be selling them. To top all of this off, they knew I was buying this car for a first time 17 year old female driver. Can you believe it, shame on them. I will fork out the money and fix what they should have. All I asked is they help cover the catalytic converter because they are at fault with this. I would have done the rest. But they refused so I am choosing to review them and let the consumer chose to use them or not based on my review. I hope you dont for your sake.
I have had repeated headlight failures without any accidents. I have replaced them and had them fixed by my local Hyundai factory. The manager suggested I contact consumer affairs and Hyundai about this issue. I cannot keep paying when there is nothing I caused. This is an obvious manufacturing issue.
In April 2018, 11 months after purchasing a new Hyundai Tucson, the transmission began hesitating and shuddering. I complained at Weimer Hyundai and was told to read the owner’s manual and watch some videos on YouTube. These did not address the issue but I was told repeatedly that was how that particular transmission behaved. Then between Jan 25 and Feb 5, 2019, I had 4 service appointments at Weimer to address 4 issues. The continuing transmission hesitation and shuddering now with skyrocketing RPMs, the AEB dash light and alert dings continuously going off, 20+second hesitation upon takeoff and when attempting to increase speed after slowing down or in stop and go traffic, and the driver door lock button malfunctioning. Nothing was repaired.I opened a complaint with Hyundai Customer Service and was told to take it to Jenkins Hyundai. After waiting for 3 weeks for a service appointment opening, on Mar 11, I was told it could be a safety issue if the AEB were in a crash/near crash situation and didn’t operate as designed. I was told a 2 different wiring harnesses were being ordered and that it should be in for the repair within the week and I would have a loaner car. They would call when the parts came in. After not hearing anything for several days, I talked to Hyundai Customer Service about the lemon law buyback. They said it would take 30 days to reach a decision. Finally they sent an email saying they would not do a buyback. Finally on April 8, my wife went to Jenkins and spoke with a sales manager who said he would call her back that afternoon with an update. He did not call. On April 9, my wife returned to Jenkins and spoke to a service manager who told her the wiring harnesses were on back order. He said a serious issue had also affected massive numbers of Subaru’s and that because of that all the mechanic appointments and loaner vehicles were booked for at least 4-6 weeks out. He said he would contact Hyundai Customer Service, a couple of dealerships 90+ minutes away and his own staff and prepare a plan. From this point he wanted to handle everything via email to create a paper trail. He said he would have everything ready by noon on April 10 and would call with the plan. Instead, he emailed a request for videos of the issues. By April 11, the A/C had stopped functioning properly and by April 12 even the date and time were not displaying on the dash or radio screen. My wife submitted all this information and several videos to them. DON’T buy a HYUNDAI!
Hyundai is comfortable, has reasonable gas mileage, some luxury with leather seats and sun roof, rear window defroster and wiper, good stereo system, top carrier rack and cup holders in doors. It is also compact enough for one person, yet roomy enough for four people. It gets me anywhere and it has good consumer ratings. However, I wish there were more seat adjustments, air temperature control, heated seat temperature control, side mirror defrosters, different style of rear wiper so it doesnt get taken off in automatic car wash and heating system that doesnt blow warm air when fan is off. It also had some electronic issues early on that were covered under warranty. Rear wiper torn off in car wash twice. Must wash by hand.
Saturday, August 13th, I purchased a 2016 New Hyundai Tucson Sport from Empire Hyundai, Inc. in the Fall River, MA branch. The vehicle had 19 miles. I did a lot of research on this car, dealing with Kasey **, the internet manager of Empire Hyundai. We had a very lengthy phone call and email conversation, where she gave us the final price, everything included. My husband and I wanted the purchase to be hassle-free, considering the drive to pick up the car was 40 miles from my house round-trip. We asked Kasey to start the paperwork for us, which she gladly said yes to. She assigned us to the sales person Rob **, who then brought us to Tyler **, the vice president and financial manager to get all the paperwork signed. Within 20 minutes we were able to see the vehicle. However, before we looked inside, Rob ** informed us that there were three cigarette burns on the passenger seat, but reassured us that it would be fixed and that they would provide us with a rental car at no cost to us while they do so. My husband and I left after, and on that Monday morning I called and asked if the rental car was ready because I had to work that afternoon. When I arrived, Rob greeted me and brought me to the receptionist, who said there was no reservation for a rental car for me, so she called to get one. About fifteen minutes later, Kevin ** from Enterprise came to pick me up and bring me to their branch to get the rental. It was not brought to me. Kevin apologized that they did not have a reservation for me for a rental. The only car available due to the lack of reservation was a 7-passenger Grand Caravan. Three days passed and I did not receive any calls to inform me of the progress of my vehicle. I called once with no answer. I called once more and asked to speak to the owner, but he was not in that day. I then asked to speak to the vice president Tyler **, the son of the owner. He told me he did not know anything about the progress of my vehicle because he works for the financial department. I demanded he do something, considering he was the vice president of the company. He then transferred me to Rob, who informed me that the car was not ready yet because they had to purchase a whole new seat, and the workers had to install it.I told him I was getting impatient and displeased, considering I was forced into driving around a huge caravan, and told him if I did not get more answers on the progress of my car by 4 pm, I would consider returning the vehicle altogether. By 4:30, Rob called and said that the vehicle was ready to come pick up. I got there and looked at the car, and it was filthy, both outside and inside. I told him that the least they could have done was to wash the car after all my troubles. He told me to sit inside and wait, as he was dealing with other customers. I waited for about a half hour before I spoke to anyone else. No one would come speak with me, especially the manager, Paul **, who I had asked for. Finally, the lease specialist, Donald **, came over to me and asked if I would be happy if they cleaned the car and put gas in the tank. I thought it was quite unprofessional that that was all they could do for me after the trouble Id gone through. As I was about to leave, I asked them why the manager, Paul, was not on that night, and they informed me that he in fact was the entire time, and he did not bother to come speak to me the whole time I was waiting to talk with someone. They got Paul to come speak with me, and he offered to install a remote starter. They also said they would put covers on the front two seats. When I got the car back again, the seat covers were still in the process of being shipped, and the remote starter was not working correctly. It started by itself five times in one day in fact. Therefore, I have to bring the car to the shop to get that fixed, while still waiting for the seat covers, and on top of all of that, there is a hole in the flooring below the passenger seat; a flap that looks as though it should have been glued down.Needless to say, I had an awful experience at the Empire Hyundai car dealership and would not recommend anyone to buy a car there, especially at the Fall River branch. These situations should not be occurring when youre involving the purchase of a $31,000 vehicle, a brand new one at that. My boss, the Operations Director at 99 Restaurants, also shared with me a similar, awful experience he had had at Empire Hyundai. I hope that this will bring attention to this dealership, warning others to steer clear and pursue other dealerships when purchasing a car, and hopefully enhance the performance of the way this business is run. I bought the 2011 Hyundai Elantra in November 2016 with the goal of keeping it till death do us part. I have always had that approach with cars. Well, the Crown Hyundai in St. Pete Florida failed to disclose of a clicking engine noise. On top of that, they did not fix the mandatory recalls until after I told them! Additionally, there is the whole issue of the steering coupler with ALL Hyundais. They do not disclose, inform you, notify you (dealer or corporate) in any way of the steering coupler issue, but your alignment, tires, other parts will suffer and you will pay THOUSANDS! My 40,000 warranty tires blew on the highway after 25,000 miles only! Plus, the whole tire size issue. The only size tires that fit into the Elantra only last 35,000-40,000 miles tops. So, if you drive average, you will replace tires every 2 years -- more expenses for you! This car is a DISASTER, and the customer service at the corporate level is horrible. CHECK THE LAWSUITS. STAY AWAY FROM THE COMPANY.
Elantra 2015 - Starting at 3000km uncontrollably bouncing at highway speeds, trying to drive me into the ditch. Dealer in Belleville, Ontario, Canada said never heard of the issue. Google proved him wrong and when I took the printed proof was told it the USA assembled cars with the problem. I persisted and got new balance, then new heavier rears shocks, more balance and new specialized balance and at 12,000km a mechanic finally determined it was a problem with the Continental brand tires on the Hyundai (I was one of thousands who had already complained). Finally got new set of Continentals to replace original. Perhaps the service department cant balance tires but the problem still remains (although a bit milder). No resolution yet!!!
Purchased car new in March 2013. Had towed to shop for repairs when brakes failed in May 2013. Received car back in June 2013. Car ran well, battery charged correctly and all was good for awhile. Car started to shudder/jerk a little at takeoffs from a stop again. Light and sporadic. August more frequent, September it worsened and October it had gotten bad again. End of October 2013, left my home and the car shuddered at start and went about 60 ft to stop sign again and breaks locked up solid, no lights or warnings on dash. It happened again at third stop sign! (still with-in two blocks of home). Forget the errand now just have to get it home and call for tow. Pulled out into highway in left turn so I can get home easily, and car stops locked up solid in middle of turn and road. Loaded log truck heading towards me and I cannot get car to move. Took several stomps on accelerator peddle to get it to finally crawl forward. Crash avoided but the grill filled the entire passenger window and then some. Got car home and towed to dealership the following Monday morning the 4th of November 2013. Dealership said they could not duplicate, but had huge data software upgrade for car. This was supposed to be done the first time. I told them on Monday I was not getting back into car period. Now in contact and waiting just a few more days before formal full-out legal battle begins. Hyundai has known about this life threatening safety issue for years and instead of fixing has only made it worse. Do your research before buying. I will be doing a lot more in-depth search prior any future purchase.
I bought a 2012 Hyundai Tucson on Jan 2018 with only 50k miles on it and in great condition. I have kept up with the regular services. Last week with just over 100k miles (right after the warranty expired) a huge hole blew in my engine while I was driving 70mph down the highway. I had an oil change two weeks prior, so thought maybe they messed something up, but I had the car towed into a shop and they said there was still oil in the engine but there was a huge hole, indicating that it was faulty manufacturing. But since the warranty expired, I am out of luck. I went online to see if there is anything I can do, only to find out that tons of other 2012 Tucson drivers have experienced the same exact thing happening and that there is a class action lawsuit against Kia and Hyundai, but that this particular year of Tucson was not included. I had the engine recall service at Hyundai back on Oct 2019 and kept up with oil changes. This is clearly a manufacturer issue and they need to take responsibility to fix these models as well. I will be looking into how to get these models included in the lawsuit, or start a new one. I thought these were good cars, but now see that they are not made well and arent safe at all.
Almost got killed in Tucson. Wife and I driving home at 11.30 pm. All electrical cut out on major highway. We got power on after 2 min. WE WERE LUCKY THAT WE DID NOT GET HIT. IT STARTED THIS PROBLEM 2 WEEKS AFTER WE BOUGHT THIS CAR. Have had it in the shop and they say nothing is wrong.
We received a new car warranty with 4 years remaining and a used car warranty which would replace the new car warranty for additional 10 years. We took our car to Merced Hyundai for servicing. They had serviced our car before. I said the engine was making a funny sound. I spoke to the technician who said that Hyundai and Kia engines had been having breakdowns. They begin to work on the car and suddenly they ran into some difficulties. Suddenly Hyundai wanted all kinds of paper work. This went for some time. I mentioned our warranties. Hyundai Corp. said they do have a new car and used car warranty. They could proceed with repairs with no cost to us. Then the nightmare began.Suddenly they couldnt find parts for our car. The mechanics have been wonderful. They have been looking everywhere. Hyundai Corp. seems like they could care less. At this date we are still waiting for parts to complete the repairs. We are senior citizens my wife is 74 and I am 78. We are on Social Security with part time jobs to make ends meet. Since Hyundai said they could not give us a loaner, we have had to rent a car for seven (7) weeks now. This is a small fortune to us. We have had to go into our savings account to pay for this. We are running out of money. We have talked to Hyundais customer complaint service. All they say is that they are working on it?? Lately, for the past two weeks they have not returned any of our calls for updates on our complaint. Regina seems to have disappeared.We are running out of money and need help. WE NEED OUR CAR!! As of this date, they are still waiting for parts to repair our car. Soon we will be forced to file for bankruptcy because we have to pay the $300 a week to rent a car....for no reason since Hyundai has turned their backs on us. We will have to give up our rental because there is no more money to pay for it....so, we will no longer be able to get to our jobs. Our golden years have become a waste and we are terrified!Frank and Joyce
I bought an Elantra 2011 in the US. During the first year, it was 3 times in service for over three months for the same problem with its electronics. Its still in service under the 5th repair attempt. I contacted a lawyer to deal with Hyundai Motors America (HMA) and request a replacement or the cash back. Hyundai is trying to do anything possible to avoid this situation. They rather spend more money in warranty claims than giving me what I paid for and deserve. We will take legal actions against HMA. I will never buy Hyundai again and make sure that anybody I know wont do it either. They ll loose.
I had problems with my vanity mirror on the passenger side, and the service manager of Doral Hyundai denied service, telling me it was the consequence of the normal use of the car. In reality, Hyundai advertises 60,000 miles and 5-year bumper to bumper. My 2008 Sonata was purchased in October 2007, and the odometer shows less than 23000 miles. I called the service attendants in headquarters, and they agreed with the service manager. This is a violation of the warranty, and Hyundai is lying in advertising the ten-year warranty, especially the 5-year bumper to bumper. If this response stands, every claim for service after one year can be considered product or the proper use of the car. If a compromise is not reached, I will never again consider Hyundai an option to buy a car.
With less than 600 miles on my new Equus, it is in the shop because of a failed valve cover gasket, so I am told. It obviously was leaking when I bought it, as the very next morning, I was cleaning up oil drips from my garage floor. Because I bought it from a dealer some distance from my home, they could not see the evidence of oil leakage and opined that I was seeing air conditioner condensate from a drain line in the vicinity of the area I described as the problem area. After a few more days, and a trip I already had committed to, I got my local Hyundai dealer to pick it up and take a look. They called back and claiming to be astounded, confirmed that the fluid was indeed oil and was coming from a leaking valve cover gasket. I really like the car, but am not the least happy that I now have a vehicle whose engine has had to be repaired, though not the real guts of the machine. Still, as what is held out as their super luxury, top-of-the-line vehicle, this is a pretty damning circumstance. Who was asleep on the production or parts supply line? Anyone else have similar engine quality issues? I have not heard back because the parts must be ordered and then installed. Stand by. SO far, I havent been able to judge the service response.
After buying a 2017 Hyundai Sonata Sport in October of 2016, we noticed, at the first washing of the car that the clear coat was marred in several areas. We immediately reported it to the dealer. We took it in, he agreed that it was a defect, and sent us to several different body shops to see if anything could be done. We had it detailed (at our expense) and buffed but the marred finish was still visible. The dealer then advised us to call the manufacturing which we did. After months and months of runarounds from Hyundai Corporation, we are no closer to getting our car fixed. Their case managers dont return our calls when they say they are going to and every time we call them, we have to repeat our story countless times. Today we were informed there was NOTHING they could do. Sorry! We feel like their customer service is very poor and that stall you, hoping you will give up hope and go away. I will never buy a Hyundai again after this experience.
I took my 2014 Sonata to dealer five times and they smelled the bad fumes coming from my car and each time they cant find anything wrong and they know its bad and they say Hyundai wont fix it for several people have same problems. So Im going to sell car for I cant drive. It makes me too sick and hard to breathe. Im 63 years old and I dont need added health issues from my car.
Recall was done improperly. Fuel line replacement. Called cust service, was told it would taken care of, but has to go to a dealer and did so. Car was there for 15 days. Nothing done!! Even told them I will pay for repair. Still nothing. 10 days sat at dealer. Finally had to have it towed out to another facility for the repair. Hyundai motor company is a joke and I intend to see this through.
For the price point of this vehicle I expected not to hear anything inside. But it seems as I go 40mph and above I hear air as if the window is cracked open. Hyundai says its road noise but I know the difference. Its a lot quieter in my wifes Juke than in the Palisade. I think the door is to light weight so air noise seeps through. Hopefully Hyundai will find a fix for this. Its probably the only reason so far I would not keep this vehicle.
I currently own a 2005 Hyundai Sonata but decided to get a new car 2 years ago. Not knowing what I really wanted, I decided to lease a new 2016 Hyundai Elantra GT. Prior to the end of the lease in January 2019, I received a letter from the dealership stating that they will cover termination fees, excess wear and tear, disposition fees and over mileage fees. I leased a new 2018 Hyundai Kona in August of 2018. To my surprise, I recently received a bill from Hyundai Motor Finance Company for over $1,300. I have made countless phone calls to both the dealership and finance company to no avail. The dealer says they have done everything they can and do not understand the charges, the finance company says that they are just going by my contract and here I am stuck in the middle with a bill. I ended up paying the balance for loss of sale, a term I heard only after turning in the car. The Hyundai Motor Finance Company has even charged me $65.00 a hubcap for curb rash; $260 just for hubcaps! When speaking with one of their representatives, she explained that they want the car back in the same condition I got it in; In other words, they do not accept normal wear and tear. They are a third party just like any other bank and really dont have anything to do with what dealerships tells me. Unless you are willing to read all the fine print in your contract at the dealership, which is kind of hard because all they really want is to have you walk away with a car, take the contract home and read it before you sign for after it has your signature, you are legally bound to its terms. Dont expect the dealership to explain to you important terms like loss of sale; the difference you are responsible for if the car is not sold at auction for a price that covers the remainder of the lease balance. Call the Lease End department before you turn in the car and arrange for a pre-inspection so you can fix everything at a fraction of the cost. I could have replaced all four hubcaps for less than $100. I now purchased the excess wear and tear insurance for the new vehicle; lets see how that goes?
I have had nothing but issues since I bought this car. I bought a 2015 Elantra Sport, with 800 miles on it in October of 2015. Seemed like a great car. I got a good deal (I paid 18,000), its a top trim level so hopefully the quality would be good. First thing that happened, the dealership insisted I change the oil every 3,000 miles. The service manual clearly states 7,500 mile intervals. They scolded me and told me to bring it in more often. Okay fine, whatever.Second, the dealership did a recall repair (I never approved, they just did it) to my sunroof, which resulted in a damaged headliner, AND they dropped a screw in my defroster vent that I could hear roll around as I would make corners. I took it back and Hyundai approved replacing the headliner. They also took the dash apart to retrieve the screw. The work order said removed debris, the tech didnt remember what he took out. It also still rattled and then produced a different rattle above 75 MPH. (So much more higher quality coming from the top end trim level). I should note they had the car for several days, no loaner car was given.Next, I noticed my steering column was loose after they disassembled my dash. I could move it side to side. Also the clutch squeaked when you released it. And the dash still rattled. So I took it back in. several days later and no rental car, the steering column was within spec, they couldnt replicate the clutch squeak, and they werent allowed to fix rattles and squeaks past 5,000 miles or something like that (came from the service manager). Next issue, the AC goes out. Its Texas. Its July. Its hot. Can i get a loaner car? No. They werent sure if it could be fixed under warranty (30,000 miles now). How is this not under warranty?! They had the car for several days. Turned out the AC compressor failed internally so it was replaced under warranty. No loaner car.Now, most recently. The car has 59,700 miles. The engine starts to make a noise that sounds like a high speed rattle. My guess was the water pump impeller rubbing. So I took it into a different dealership. This time they cant diagnose it, but its easy to replicate so there is no doubt theres a problem. 5 days goes by and they finally set me up with a rental car through Enterprise. One month goes by and they tell me they are going to replace the engine. That opened up a whole new set of issues. Apparently, the engine in my two year old car is now obsolete. Instead of buying a long block crate engine (like they originally told me) they are buying a short block and sending the engine off to an outside repair shop to build it.I went to the dealership to look at the engine (I do a lot of car repair, and Im a Mechanical Engineer). The timing chain is hanging slack and theyve removed one of the camshaft retainers. The car is parked outside, with no valve cover. Lovely. They tell me the engine is being replaced due to lack of lubrication (very vague and general). My guess was broken timing chain tensioner. I saw no low pressure light, and there was no presence of metal in the oil during the last oil change (I had a sample sent to a lab for analysis). They told me that its a good thing I brought it in when I did. Because my Powertrain Warranty Expires at 60,000 miles! Apparently, because I bought it used the 100,000 mile warranty doesnt apply to me.Well that was it. Im getting rid of the car. I asked them to give me a price on what theyd buy it from me for. They responded with because its having major engine work, we can only give you $6,000. So basically. A $24,000 car, in two years, and 60,000 miles, becomes worth 25% of its original value. I am never buying another Hyundai.
This car was sold to me as a higher end model, so my expectations coincided with that. About a month into ownership, the car started emitting this terrible smell every time I accelerated onto the interstate. As winter progressed, the smell stopped. When the heat returned, it came back. It seems to stop after a while then return after oil changes. Ive had the vehicle a little over 2 years now, and the compressor already died. I dont even run the A/C over the 3rd bar even on the hottest days! Gas mileage already seems to be waning. I was doing 40mpg (primarily interstate driving) on regular unleaded with 10% ethanol. Now its doing 35 or so. I really like the push button start and car door lock/unlock.However, Ive been having trouble getting the car to lock over the past couple of months. Ill press the button as usual and nothing happens. Its sporadic, cant find a pattern by temperature, weather, or amount driven. On a different note, the volume doesnt automatically adjust to engine speed, so Im constantly adjusting the volume. I would much rather pay attention to driving! On a positive note, the car is comfortable and rides well. The heat and A/C work quickly (when they function). Two settings on the heated seats is really nice.
I have a 2009 Sonata with about 55,000 miles on it. I went to start my engine to go to work on a Monday morning and nothing would work. So, I called a tow truck and had it towed to the dealership. This was when I found out that Hyundai has zero customer service. I had to call them every day for 2 weeks. They would never call me, and the only thing they would say is, we havent started yet, were waiting for an investigator from corporate to come in and look at it. I finally got someone to tell me what the problem was. They said there was an oil leak and that the motor seized. Another week goes by and they said that it was my fault. I asked why was it my fault, I did not build the engine. They said that its company policy and they quoted me $16,696 to fix it. The brand new car was cheaper. The reason I bought this car in the first place was for this amazing warranty they claim so much, which I found out is one of the worst in coverages around. I can guarantee out of all my friends and family, no one will ever buy that crappy brand again.
Previously owned a used Tiburon that lasted more than 10 yrs as a daily driver. Drove it on all kinds of road conditions - why I chose to get a Veloster. Fuel economy is great, handles the road great, plenty of cargo room, looks sporty, bought for a reasonable price. Everything a 63 yo woman could want!
So I ventured into a 48 mo lease back in Nov. 2011 on a 2012 Hyundai Elantra Limited. I got my vehicle from a well-known dealer down by the Philadelphia Auto Mall. The deal was fine, dealership was helpful and off I went in my new Elantra. The one small issue was with the color combination I had wanted but the dealer could not deliver on. So I settled on an available color combination and was happy nonetheless. Fast forward 3 1/2 years later and like a good loyal soldier I found myself back at the same dealership. This time I went in with a printout of the 2016 Elantra Limited I built on Hyundais online site. I was feeling confident I could finally get that color combination I had wanted back in Nov. 2011... NOPE!! The dealer searched around for my color combo and basically in so many words told me the closest location they could find my color combination was about 1,800 miles away in Oklahoma City. WHAT??? I figured I still and some time until my lease ended so I told them I was not in an immediate rush so they had time to get the vehicle (or one in that color combo) to Philadelphia. That suggestion was all but brushed off and I was basically given (once again!) the impression I would need to settle on a different color combination... I ended up in another vehicle that was NOT a Hyundai. My well maintained 2012 leased vehicle with 16,000 miles under the allowed mileage went back to the dealer and months later I receive a bill in the mail from Hyundai Finance totaling $850.20!! $380.00 for Excess Wear and Tear, $400.00 disposition fee and taxes totaling $70.20. As for the Excess Wear and Tear, did I mention my vehicle was well maintained? My carpets were NEVER even stepped on since the entire interior was lined with rubber flooring! There were no tears and/or burns to any seating surfaces. There were no dents and any scratches could be classified as your run of the mill light surface marks all finishes encounter at some point! With all that said, the biggest sticking point for me is that disposition fee. Or as I like to call it, a monetary gun to a consumers head to assure you NEVER leave their side. If Hyundai had such a wonderful product, the need to place a monetary gun to ones head to assure loyalty to the brand should not be necessary!!! Needless to say, I will NOT be a Hyundai customer again and my wife who is presently a Hyundai owner will not own a Hyundai in the future... at least not while I am breathing!! FINAL THOUGHT... Would you get into bed with Charles Manson? Venturing in to an auto lease with Hyundai can be eerily similar...
I stumbled upon this website when reading about tires, and was surprised to see virtually every car company with such horrendous reviews. Then I realized its merely a sounding board for angry people with car troubles. I just wanted to share a little about my little 2013 Elantra GT. I bought it new, have done all maintenance in my garage, have used nothing but full synthetic oil and Hyundai brand parts (filters, etc to avoid warranty issues), and in return? Its been hands down the best car Ive ever owned. Nothing has failed in the first 3 years, 40,000 miles. No car Ive ever owned has accomplished that. It rides like its brand new, no squeaks, no rattles, no nothing. Comfortable as can be, averages 32 in the city, 36 on the highway. Ive owned many compacts in my life, none have come even close to this level of ride quality. Simply put, we love the car. Its our first Hyundai, and we would buy another in a heartbeat.And basically, this is merely a message to take everything you read online with a grain of salt. Including my review. Occasionally, youre going to get a car thats awful. I had one. 2012 Impala, kept it 9 months. It went back to the garage under warranty 11 times in those 9 months. Eventually, you just have to make a judgment call. Do you keep a car thats been nothing but problems? Or do you try something else. We now own a Hyundai and a Nissan and have been thrilled with them. Will I ever buy another Chevrolet? Sure! I just got a lemon. It happens. It totally stinks, but it happens.
I bought a Hyundai Elantra in 2007 with a three year warranty. Within the first two weeks, the indicator switch had to be replaced. This happened again over a period of a year and now that the warranty has expired, the indicator only works manually.Approximately 8 months after purchasing the vehicle, we heard a grinding rear noise, especially when reversing. It was very noticeable. I am an Estate Agent and it was embarrassing. The local mechanics examined the car and after saying that they knew exactly what they were doing, replaced the rear disk pads and callipurs, etc. with the approval of head office. A week later, the noise was back. I took it to the local supplier but they could not find the fault. My husband kept on saying that they should look at the release bearing and they ignored it. The car was eventually taken to Johannesburg, and a week later, I was informed that it was the release bearing. Remember, this was over a period of a year. They replaced the release bearing just before the warranty expired.All was fine for a few months and then we heard a noise in the engine. I took it in and was told that the valve lifters had to be replaced at a cost of $4,200.00. I phoned head office but they replied that it was out of warranty and not their problem anymore. The day we collected the car, we noticed that the noise had not disappeared. Fortunately, our car was at the wash bay when the workshop exploded (not so sure it was fortunate). The mechanic who released the car to us admitted that there was a noise, but seeing that they had no equipment, nothing could be done about it at that stage.When they arranged for an alternative workshop and the proper equipment, I took the car in. To my utter amazement, they phoned me a day later to tell me that the oil pump, timing chain, and tensioner had to be replaced at a cost of $10,000. Fix one thing and another one appears. What guarantee do I have that this will be the end of my woes and that the problem has been diagnosed properly? I spoke to the Manager, Ben, and told him that I wanted a second opinion and that I would take the car to Bloemfontein. He agreed with me and told me that a car with 70,000 km on the clock should not have all these problems and that I should take it further. I was really excited when I received my brand new car but now, I feel like setting it alight. My husband is so frustrated that he just wants to get rid of the car. We listened to an engine of a similar Elantra - what a difference. My brother in law had an Elantra which clocked 600,000 km and it hardly ever had any problems and that is one of the reasons why we bought one.Let me just say that the local supplier and his staff had always been helpful and friendly, but they can only help to a point and after that they have to abide by Imperials Rules. I will not stop until something is done about it.I appeal to you. Please see what you can do for me.
The summer of 2010, I wanted the 2011 Hyundai Sonata with a passion. So I waited for three months for this vehicle! From the moment I pulled this car off of the lot, Ive had issues with the car. Issues that I have taken to only authorized Hyundai service dealers and the issues are not fixed. Issues such as steering, tire pressure light and the car not randomly starting. Talk about frustrating. How frustrating to have my intelligence insulted when I take it to the authorized Hyundai dealership and no one can figure out the problem. How frustrating for me to pay for rentals when my car is in the shop and Hyundai cant figure out the problem because as one of the service dealers told me, Hyundai doesnt do loaners for under the hood issues. Ive been late for work five to six times, not including the close calls of being late for work because my car wont start! I have been stuck outside of an establishment at two in the morning because my car wont star. I have videotaped the instances on my phone and showed it to the servicemen that Im not making this up and their reply, The problem never happens here when we have the car, so theres nothing we can do about it. The car steering has been an issue since I first drove it off the lot and once I made it home, I called my car salesman (who is now retired) immediately. He told me to take it to the dealership if I felt something was wrong with the steering! The dealership told me its called electronic steering. I pay a $420 a month car note and $193 a month in car insurance for a vehicle I dont get to use at my leisure.Up until this point, Ive always had perfect attendance at work. I love what I do and I love saving lives. Im in the medical field and my patients dont care nor do my employers if Im late because my car wont start. Just because I drive a Hyundai that has issues that I have repeatedly taken to the dealership doesnt mean my job will give me a slap on the wrist for tardiness. If I lose my job, how will I pay my car expenses? If I lose my job, how will I have money to take care of my family and household? Its cold and snows where I live. Is it fair for me to be stranded for hours at a time trying to start a car and videotape the car not starting in order to have proof that my car has issues?! My lease is not up until August, so am I forced to stick this out until the end of my lease?The sad part about this is I originally wanted to purchase this car at the end of my lease. I went three months without a vehicle, while I patiently waited for this car to be created at the manufacturer. This was my first and last time purchasing a Hyundai! I have no interest in this car or any Hyundai product because of how I have been treated as a consumer. Not to mention, my coworkers, family and friends saw the agony and what Ive gone through with this car without any type of compensation for my inconvenience and even they are shocked by my Hyundai experience! They all feel some kind of way about Hyundai. I had a coworker tell me, My husband and I were considering the Genesis, but after seeing you with your issues with a car thats only 2 years old, I told my husband why bother? Im too afraid we too will experience the same treatment. What frustrates me the most is that Ive contacted a lemon law attorney who has been in contact with Hyundai since September and Im still nowhere! Its as if the Hyundai representative could care less about my inconvenience, my life and my job! The lawyer and I have emailed video clips of me being stranded with the car not starting, sent documentation supporting their service men not being able to fix the problem, and no Hyundai representative has said Lets start talking about how to establish this clients needs and make her experience pleasant from this day on. Its now January and I am in tears, frustrated and an emotional wreck because my job is on the line! No employers care that I have told them and put it in writing that Im waiting on a lemon law attorney to help me find some peace with this vehicle. Please look over my tardiness until this has passed. At this point, I no longer want the car to purchase nor do I want to keep the car until the end of my lease. I dont even want money from it! I only want Hyundai to take this headache away from me and take it apart and service it properly before selling it to another consumer. I would hate for someone to have to experience what I have experienced as a first time Hyundai customer. Im curious to know, how many other 2011 and current Sonata owners have had similar issues?
I am completely disgusted with this finance company and people need to be aware of what they are dealing with when it comes to getting a loan from HMF. I set up auto-pay so that I would ALWAYS have a timely payment on my three year loan. Paying on time is very important to me and auto-pay seem like the best solution to Hyundai getting their money on time, every month.It came down to the last payment and this payment was never auto-deducted. Unfortunately for me, I didnt realize this policy of theirs that the last payment would NOT be auto-deducted. What made this so bad is that I didnt find this out until I was 45 days late in payment and Hyundai had already reported this on my credit! I still cant get over them reporting me to the credit bureau when they could have easily communicated what they needed from me to take their last payment.I immediately called to get clarity on why they were telling me I was late in payment with this statement I received just today when they had full ACCESS to my checking account!! They told me that they have a policy built in the contract that states first and last payments are NOT auto-deductible. OK, so somewhere in the fine print is this policy when I bought the car. Being a long time Hyundai customer that is always receiving mail from them, I find it interesting that a courtesy reminder notice with the last statement isnt enclosed for people that rely on auto-pay?I just know that I dont deserve to have my credit dinged because of some nonsense they put in a contract I signed three years ago! I have never made a late payment on the car and common sense would tell you that I counted on THEM to take what was owed out of my account. Obviously, they do this to make a few dollars on interest and late fees. The consequences to an honest consumer with something like this are that they will have their credit report dinged and a fight on their hands to correct it. This is no small matter. This incident is enough to not only make me committed to NEVER buying another Hyundai, but to put the word out there to others to NOT do business with them - at least when it comes to loans. HMF is the lowest of the low. The car itself, a used 2008 Elantra, has been a pretty good car to have. Still, Hyundai lost a customer because of this. BTW... their customer service are some of the rudest people I have ever dealt with too!!! No empathy, no care. I was treated like a dumb deadbeat. Never again!
Hyundai Palisade vehicles (2020-21) have a defect with a windshield causing them to crack from minimal impact and sometimes no impact at all. There are many reports of this all over the web. Hyundai however is refusing any assistance to consumers and denying that there is any issue at all. My windshield cracked and had to be replaced when the car had just 500 and it didnt even get hit. It was a detail shop getting cleaned, etc.. Hyundai should step and start taking responsibility plus reimbursing owners who already needed to have their windshields replaced and also offer free replacements for OEM glass going forward for many reasons:1. Hyundai and Kia are related companies. Palisade and Telluride are related vehicles. Telluride has exactly same complaints regarding the windshield and Kia sent letters to all the owners saying this issue is being looked into and in the meantime offering free replacement and/or reimbursement if the windshield has to be replaced. Why isnt Hyundai doing the same?2. Almost every single complaint on the NHTSA website is about the windshield. There are over 85. This is not a coincidence! See: **3. I am sure you are also aware that there is a class action lawsuit about this same windshield issue. Again not a coincidence. There is a reason why there is a lawsuit.Hyundai should do the RIGHT thing just like KIA is doing and reimburse owners for windshield replacements especially when they are cracking WITHOUT even being hit by anything. That is a defect in your product!
I bought this from a certified dealer in Myrtle Beach who told me the 10-year 100,00 was transferable to me. Otherwise, I wouldnt have bought it. Ive had problems with the airbag light. I took it to a different dealer who now charged me to fix it saying the wiring was bad under the passenger seat. The next evening, I went to move the car and put it in park and it started jumping and rolling backward. I put it in drive and went forward, put it in park and it did the same thing. I had to put the emergency brake on. I called the dealer. They cant get to the car for 3 days so I have nothing to drive, and to top it off, tell me I dont have any warranty. That Im going to have to pay for repairs. I look at the warranty info online from the Hyundai website and it says that warranties transfer over to new owners. I think this company is a sham and the dealers are worse, trying to rip us off. I am a single woman and feel like I am being ripped off many times over starting with the Myrtle Beach dealer. My mom has been a faithful customer of theirs for years and has purchased 7 cars, 5 of them being Sante Fes, from them in 9 years and has recommended them to many people. I am so angry and disappointed with this situation. I guess loyalty doesnt pay. It just makes you vulnerable to unscrupulous dealers.
Car lost power while driving down the interstate and engine started to run very roughly. Took it to the closest dealership on my next day off who called me the NEXT day to tell me that I could come and get the car, but its not fixed because they dont have a fault code to be able to fix an issue, even though they can clearly see that the car isnt running correctly. Car is still under warranty, but wont run, and Im supposed to just bring it home??? Does that make any sense to you?? IDIOTS! Then the service advisor goes as far as to try and sell me a tune-up... ON A CAR THAT WONT RUN! RIDICULOUS!Customer care, not much help there either. They tell me a manager will contact me in 3 to 5 business days. I also bought an extended warranty that NO ONE CAN FIND under my VIN #. How does that work? Every other manufacturer has always been able to see my warranty info listed by the VIN#.... why not Hyundai? All this sounds like HUGE runaround tactics to me. You got me once Hyundai, but never again. Should have stuck to HONDA, Ive had 3 of them and never any issues. Very dissatisfied.
I recently called/Hyundai roadside assistance, noticing that it included towing. My vehicle has a flat tire, and at this point I don’t have a ton of extra money. I live 200 feet away from a Firestone tire, a relative helped by purchasing the tire I needed and Firestone said they would install it. All I have to do is get the vehicle or the wheel over there. Well Hyundai Veloster don’t come with a spare tire or jack. So I can’t jack the car up and take the wheel off, this didn’t seem like a problem knowing I had roadside assistance. Well roadside assistance will not hold me across the street where I already have a fully paid tire waiting, they would however bring me to a Hyundai dealer but they are non-local to me. I was told by the tow company that exceptions can be made so I spent time on the phone with Hyundai’s customer service just so that they could tell me no. I can assure you after customer service like this I will never return to Hyundai again. This is a lack of compassion for their consumers, I understand you want me to be brought to a Hyundai dealer so the dealer can make the money on the tire and installation, but in my particular situation you should’ve okayed a tow across the street; don’t buy a Hyundai thinking you have someone there for you when you need it. You don’t.
Airbag light on with code B1448 OC Passenger Sensor Mat Defect. Now the passenger side airbag will not deploy in a collision. Hyundai should put out a recall to fix their mess on this airbag issue.
I have booked a Santro Xing (GLS) on 09/29/2011 with a scheme (insurance & registration free with accessories) from BM Hyundai, Dehradun (Uttranchal). On Oct. 24th, 2011, I have visited the dealer after discussing with sales representative to take the car. Firstly, they made me wait from 15:45 to 20:40. Hours later on, they told me that the scheme on which I had booked the car wont be provided now as the scheme has changed. I told them that I have the receipt of the advance booking amount but they were not ready to listen. Moreover, they asked me to deposit extra 2000 bugs for that scheme with it. They havent provided me corporate discount of rs.2000. Moreover, the manager was not ready to meet/talk to me. After all, I have left the corporate discount and picked the car. They told me that 3.5 liters of petrol is in tank, so I moved towards my home which is about 10 kms. away. On the midway, the car stopped where there was no petrol pump nearby and I was alone. Somehow I managed to get help from a stranger at around 21:30. I called the SR who was dealing with me but I got no appropriate response. I am really disappointed with the pre-sales 7 after sales service. Later on I realize that I have done a mistake by taking a Hyundai car.
Never buy a Hyundai!!! I bought a 2011 Hyundai Sonata 2.0T Limited and I have had nothing but regrets. Everything that could possibly go wrong, HAS! I had the famous engine failure in December 2016. It just stalled and seized on the highway and the useless Agincourt Hyundai dealership in Toronto that I took it to DID NOT EVEN PRESENT THE CASE TO HYUNDAI CANADA INITIALLY. They just asked me to bring $9,000 for an engine replacement. I had to call Hyundai Canada myself, and they also tried to void my warranty until I threatened legal action. They finally gave me a new engine and less than a week later, my driveway was an oil pool, the engine oil leak was so bad that my dipstick dried up in days!Besides the engine issue, there has been countless MIL (check engine light) illuminations: from 02 sensor to catalytic converter to issues with the gutless turbo the car has. The shocks and struts on the car are so useless too, they have been changed severally. The wheel alignment is the worst, its like it loses alignment every 3000 km! I do not drive badly, but somehow this piece of garbage always pulls to one side even after an alignment. The sunroof creaks! My backup camera chooses when its going to work, on other days it just shows me a blue screen when in reverse! The sound system is total nonsense (I have the dimension system)! I REPEAT: DO NOT BUY A HYUNDAI!!
I am so upset Hyundai do not seem to be concern about me not being able to get around. Hyundai got my car, they have to replace my motor, they say they do not have a loaner and tell me to rent a car for two months and they will reimburse me. I have told them several times I cannot afford to do that and pay my car notes. They reached out to me with several lies but closed my account. They say someone will contact me after I contacted them again and its been a week and no one have reached out yet. If they would tell people ahead of time they have some things that goes wrong with the motor many people wouldnt waste time with Hyundai. But I with others will make sure no one else get helmed up like this because this is a burden that we carry without the care of Hyundai. So on every social media page, emails, and in our advertisements with the different companies we will mention how poorly Hyundai took care of us.
I was driving down the road in North Carolina when I heard a loud bang. The moon roof of my 2011 Sonata shattered. Glass completely went out in one piece. The dealer tried to say that the roof was hit by an object. Im waiting for Hyundai to do the right thing. The car is still under warranty. I hope that I dont have to ride around a long time with sun roof broken and raining in my car. I have no garage.
Such a shame. We are a growing company with 2 Hyundai iMax vans. And we’ll need more soon. One of them had an engine seizure at just after 5 years, and only 120,000 on the clock. We have two Hyundais, loved one and got another (Santa Fe). Well built, good gas mileage, comfortable, nice looking and good resale value, good warranty. If I could afford the Genesis it would be my next car.
This is how they rope you in to buying their crummy cars “We have American’s best Warranty.” Don’t ever expect to use it though when you need it. They’ll do everything in their power to get out of having to pay to fix your car when something goes wrong. In my case, my whole electrical system fried within less than two years of having the car. Thinking I had “American’s Best Warranty” I thought, no big deal I’ll bring it in and they’ll fix it. Well, no, they tried to claim an animal chewed through my wires so it wasn’t covered by the warranty and I had to go through my insurance to have it fixed. Mind you, this is before I found out there was a class action lawsuit filed against this company for cars with unexpected engine and electrical failures and them failing to make repairs and weaseling their way out of them. They kept my car for 10 weeks trying to fix the issue and every time they fix one issue they would call back and say “oh turns out this is also wrong with your car because of the animal, you have to go through your insurance and put in another supplemental claim.” After 8,000 paid by my initial insurance claim and two supplemental claims of a 1000 a piece and a 500 deductible from me, they gave me back my car that still doesn’t work and still having electrical problems. Their response, we’ll diagnose the problem for 300 dollars to figure out what’s wrong with it now and now they want me to put in another supplemental claim due to another wire that was frayed due to “animal damage.” I can’t even trade the car in because no other dealer wants it due to all the problems and I still have 12,000 left to pay and a car that doesn’t function right.
I purchased a brand new 2010 Hyundai Accent in October 2010. Since this purchase, I have had 22 visits to Hyundai. This car has been a lemon from the start. I have all documents showing the work needed to this vehicle since its purchase. I also contacted the head office and was basically told everything is under warranty and they refused to take back this vehicle. I have since had to purchase another vehicle because this 2010 Accent continues to break down on me. I want to get rid of this car once and for all. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can send copies of all the work orders for this vehicle. I want all the money back that I have also spent on the purchase and repairs to this car. Thank you.
My original fuel pump went out at 80,000+ miles (2011), so I replaced it with a Hyundai part. Three months later at 86,000 miles, this Hyundai fuel pump went out. Now, 20 months later, the same issue, fuel pump #3. No warranty and $417 part out again. Hyundai dealers know this is an issue. It is well published I found out on the internet after my first encounter. Hyundai needs to take care of this issue if they wish to continue to sell vehicles in the US. Hyundai is using refurbished parts and refuse to admit there is an issue. I was told today they do not warrant their parts for more than 12 months. Now, I can no longer utilize the dealership of my vehicle because of faulty parts. Tempe Hyundai service manager would not help in any way. My next recourse is to contact the Hyundais General Manager. I feel everyone should know and stop buying their products if they cant build dependable parts and vehicles.
Brought in my 2015 Hyundai Elantra for service, mechanic stated it needed an oil pump and an engine and it would take a month to fix. When I asked about a rental I was told that they had no cars. Tie my car up for a month and dont offer alternate transportation. Totally unacceptable. I will never purchase another hyundai ever again.
I bought new 2011 accent. The car stalled. It would not start. I have it towed to the dealer. I was told it is not under warranty and had too much oil. Hyundai North America was very uncooperative. I am pod 4000 miles and seized engine. Thanks Hyundai for honoring your warranty. Not! See you in court. My advice to anyone is go Nissan!
In late April 2012, I bought a LIMITED EDITION TUCSON. What I particularly was interested in was the bluetooth technology with hands-free calling and the ability to load all my IPhone 5 contacts in the bluetooth/navigation/radio part. And I also had owned an Elantra for 10 years, so I was a repeat customer and looking forward to owning another, more updated.This March 4th, I brought my car in for an oil change and for the Auto Butler service that I had paid extra for (total car clean). When my car was ready, I noticed that the lights were on, so I when I attempted to turn them off, they were already off. So after a few tries, the master technician gave it a try also only to be stumped. He did NOT know WHY the lights were not turning off. Keep in mind that this car has just been serviced and everything was OK. So, he took it back in the shop & said hed have to call a Tech at Headquarters somewhere for advice. After having been there from 9 am and now it was 2:30, I just could no longer hang around that dealership so I asked for a rental. The next day, I got a call that they had found the source. It was a faulty FUSE BOX. Thats like the main electric box outside our homes. When does THAT break down? I asked what caused it many times and they have no answer. They dont know. So I asked how come when I brought my car in for an oil change & car wash - everything was fine - and when its complete, this huge event happens. They cannot (or will not) tell me how it happened or what could have caused it!!! A mystery I am not willing to live with. What if that happens again when Im on a highway or out of state? That would drain the battery and more things could happen. So I am VERY UNHAPPY with that occurrence.The next thing is that when I bought my car, the bluetooth paired with my IPhone fine and I was able to sync my contacts. All of a sudden, about a month ago, my contacts were no longer able to remain synced and so I am unable to use the hands-free calling feature for which I bought this car and I must say for the SERVICE so well advertised. Here again - there is no answer to this problem. They are aware that it is happening, mainly because they have not upgraded the bluetooth since I bought the car and their solution is: WERE WORKING ON IT. In the meantime, what do I do?I asked for some type of compensation: a new Tucson (that might have the later version)..., an upgraded car for a reasonable price.... something! But to no avail. I was told by the Gen. Manager that he would like me to drop by to see him, so he can buy me a cup of coffee!!!! CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?? So those of you thinking of buying a HYUNDAI, think again. After Ive read all of these reviews, it is really sad to see how things have turned out for this company that used to be #1 in service. Now they really dont care! And neither should we!
I sent my payment on the 24th of Nov, and it was due in the 22nd, I receive a late charges of $55.04, called customer service to waive. They refused strongly, they are rude, unprofessional and nasty... Im leasing an 2016 Equus, will never lease from them again. I left Lexus for Hyundai, that was the stupidest mistake I ever made, will make sure all the people I know will not lease from those people.
I got a flat on my new 2015 Sonata Hybrid. Called roadside assistance and they told me I had to have it towed to the nearest Dealership. I thought it had something to do with it being a Hybrid but it turns out that the cars dont have spares, they have inflation kits. Going to the dealer is normally not a problem but it was SUNDAY!!!!!! I told the person at Roadside that but it didnt seem to faze her. The nearest dealership was my only option. So now my car is stuck there overnight and I miss a days work because I work 35 miles away. If they brought me home I could have had it fixed. If they brought me to Pep Boys or any tire place I could have had it fixed. They need to get their heads out of their butts over there. Ill be getting AAA to avoid the expense of Free Roadside Assistance.
Bought a 2012 Genesis in Dec of 2012. Have had three transmissions in 14 months. Car in shop twice for almost a total of 60 days. They did fix it under warranty... replaced the trannys but still not running like it should. Dealer offered me 3 monthly payments... The Manufacture said... ONE one month... I dont feel safe in the this and the tranny still doesnt seem right... Their customer satisfaction is terrible... I told them where to put their offer of 1 payment... Never buy their products!!!
My airbag warning light comes on all the time. 3 times I took it to Roseville, Hyundai, first they said the sensor was set to high. The second time they said a screw was loose. The third time they said a wire was loose; now the light goes off and on. I contacted Hyundai customer service. All they said was my car was no longer under warranty and that I needed to bring my car in for its regular service.
Bought 2012 Genesis in July 2012. By Nov. 2012 noted rough ride on freeway and streets with small bumps or cracks would feel like car bottomed out with absolutely no Shock Sense which is still a problem today. Right veering/pull to right very minimal at first but now able to change lanes within approximately 3 seconds. Always told no issue found until recently. After researching the pulling to the right issue, many Genesis and other Hyundai cars have this issue, either right or left. Got Hyundai corporate involved and last time in shop for alignment issue, I drove with service tech to show pulling right issue. He agreed it did pull (same tech who 2 months earlier said there was no pull and even hinges was within specs).There is a Hyundai TSB for 2012 year put out in March of 2012 for alignment issue and how to evaluate it. Right front camber always in negative. Also excessive wear on right front tire even though rotated regularly. Black soot on tailpipe within a few months of having car, always told all OK. On looking up gdi 3.8 engines found this is a problem with need to use top tier gas and supposedly will need to clean intake valves, etc. Just research on Internet very interesting articles about gdi engines. Bluetooth drops phones and have to pair again with different name for phone. Just replaced carbon filter in fuel tank as on filling up gas pump constantly clicking off taking 15 minutes or so to fill up. Hyundai blamed veering to right in December 2015 on radial pull due to bad new tire or tires. We got second opinion from other alignment store and then obtained from where tires purchased. No radial pull noted, suspected strut and camber as camber in negative.Hyundai stated had to tweet subfamily on right to get right camber within specs. Interesting. Still have minimal pull to right but now dont change lanes within 3 seconds or less. For the paint chipping, we scratched or scuffed it up which is not true. We saw the exact same car color and year with the same problem on the frame under the driver door sill. Immediate response from Corporate and about week from their regional manager. Would definitely not buy another Hyundai. So fed up with this.
OEM radio not covered under any warranty. I have a 2015 Santa Fe. One hour after I took delivery, a HID headlight started flickering. Astonishingly, Hyundai denied the claim initially as its a ‘wear and tear’ part. An hour old… Eventually, they caved and replaced it. 3 years later, the Infotainment unit started looping on startup. Despite their vaunted 5-year warranty, and the 7-year extended Hyundai branded warranty I bought, its not covered. $4000 OEM, and Hyundai could not have cared-less if they tried. Do not trust hyundai – not the car, not the company, not the warranty. Not even the dealership. Avoid at all costs. And costs be sure!
I bought a 2016 Elantra GT right off the lot. I was so proud. My first brand new car. It did great until it reached about 12,000 miles. Then it decided to quit starting. I had it towed to the dealership. The service department was helpful... at first. They did change something with the start button and I picked the car back up. One day later, same thing. Couldnt get it out of my driveway. This started happening June 13, 2016. Since then my car has been in the shop non-stop, except for the 4 times I picked it up and became stranded at various places because it wouldnt start. I went through the BBB as required by Hyundai. The BBB determined that the car needed to be repurchased or traded for the same model. Hyundai offered to repurchase the car in August. I completed all the paperwork requested... every... single... time. The repurchase was supposed to be completed today October 21, 2016.I have called and called every number for Hyundai--no one can help me. My case manager, Kris **, is always out of the office and has called me once. No e-mail, nothing. I have had to rent a car out of pocket for the last 3 weeks, maxing credit cards and cancelling trips with my family. I have never felt so devalued in my life. I dont think Hyundai understands that even though my payment was small to them, not having a reliable car has caused a huge amount of stress for me and so much hardship on my family. As a single mom of two great boys, we have had to cancel trips and reroute funds for the rental car. I am a teacher and have to get to work. Communication would have made a terrible situation much more bearable. Worst service ever... I will never recommend buying a Hyundai to anyone. Please dont. They do not stand behind their word.
There should be zero or negative star option for Hyundai finance. Their customer service is horrible. They take your money first but they will make you cry and suffer to the necessary document they need to provide you to get the charge of your vehicle. Their CS is horrible. no training, no respect for customer and flat out liars. When you complaint they just drop your call so you have to call them again and wait in line for hours. As you can see review after review and complaint after complaint which also reflect in their ratings but no improvement. I hope KARMA catches to them. Strongly recommend anyone to stay away from them. I would never buy Hyundai car so that I never have to deal with Hyundai Finance.
The 2017 Hyundai Tucson drives nice, is roomy, and is much better gas mileage than our previous minivan. However, I really miss sliding doors, which we were used to on our other vehicles. I wish the Tucson had a power trunk and Im not happy with the radio as it doesnt show song titles like our previous model did. Nevertheless, it was our first time leasing so it made the vehicle quite affordable. The Tucson had a better price point than comparable models. It is also physically very attractive and is a beautiful color turquoise. It has a very modern looking interior and exterior as well.
2017 Hyundai Tucson started on fire...then exploded...twice. Totaled. No collision, no maintenance issues prior. Driving down the interstate the engine started revving, smoking and then flames. The entire front of my car is gone. No one was hurt, but I will never get in another Hyundai. Ever.
They have held my title for 4+ months with no resolution! Ridiculous and terrible customer service. I am now stuck in the middle of trying to get this title to my new creditor because they have hung up and wont respond to my new creditor. They hang up on them. Despite the address on the back of the check, the letter, and subsequent 2 letters petitioning for them to send the title from April of 2020 nothing has still been done. Even upon contacting them today, via phone, they say its stuck, Ill send an email to my supervisor and the title division to get the title sent. So ridiculous. Hyundai should be aware, that at least for me, this will keep me from ever using their finance arm again and as many of their deals are if you purchase through them itll definitely drive me to another brand.
My car was taken into Delray Hyundai on February. My complaint was that my car, on two occasions, raced out of control while pulling away from a gas pump. It took a great effort to stop the car from having an accident. Hyundai service reported that nothing was wrong with the car. On August, while in a strip mall looking for a parking space, my car went out of control causing a five car accident. Hyundai refused to turn over my car to my insurance company for inspection. It has been two weeks and I am totally in the dark except that I was told that it now was being handled by the National office. It could take 10 weeks to be inspected. It does not take that long to build thousands of cars. There is no doubt that time is in their favor since I will soon have to rent a car at my cost. It is near impossible to contact the CEO, to expedite this matter.
Hyundai Getz, repair of tail light - My partner recently cracked the plastic tail light on her car. Being a Hyundai, she took it to Hyundai in Brighton Victoria and was quoted $250 for the part and installation. It sounded steep so I bought the part from Repco ($60) and replaced it in about six minutes. I am no car expert. My dissatisfaction is that we were about to get ripped off by Hyundai. It makes me wonder why we would take the car for a service anywhere near Hyundai. There was absolutely no loyalty shown to us as Hyundai customers. I am not sure if Mazda or Holden would do the same, but this performance of customer service was appalling.
We were prepared to pay cash for the car on 12/31/11, but we were told that we would get $500 more off the car if we financed and then we could pay it off. So before we received the coupon book, we sent in an estimated amount for the purchase price plus estimated interest. The next month we received a bill for $11.23 for the difference of additional finance charges which we paid. For the past week, the autodial collection people have called us at least 15 times (over 5 times on 3/26), looking for the monthly payment of $839. Finally, my husband was on hold for over 20 minutes waiting to speak to a supervisor who said our account was paid in full. We have continued to get calls since then for the same thing. On 3/37, we got 2 more calls. I am not that happy with the car to begin with. The gas mileage is way under what was represented. After the experience with the finance people, I will never buy another Hyundai. Also, the phone representatives were rude and the auto-dialer put us on hold several times after we answered the phone. What kind of customer service is that?
The car itself is wonderful. I have a hydrogen fuel cell Nexo. The company is terrible. Zero stars. Worst experience. I had my car towed to this location by roadside assistance from Hyundai, due to screw that lodged into my tire, causing it to flatten. This could have been a quick fix and I was told they give roadside tow-ins priority. Hyundai roadside assistance was great but did not check or mention my car model is not serviceable at all locations. I now know. The dealer held my car hostage for 4 days, no call back (left about 6 messages) until we called Sales department on 3rd day, and they spoke rudely to my friend who was trying to help me out (dont call service department they will never pick up or call back, go to sales they will pick up). I decided on the 4th day (Tues morning) after they told me it would be ready by Tuesday morning, to just simply show up and they said it would was not ready and would be ready in 5 hours. So I said I would sit there and wait, and when I finally decided to call another tow truck and told them to pull my car out, they said the tire was there and they were going to fix it now. Funny how that worked out. I also have an app on my phone that tells me the location of the car. It somehow was in SF not in Richmond when I checked on Saturday, but was back in the dealership on Sunday. Not sure if someone took it for a joyride, but after the non-communication, I wouldnt put it past them. Avoid this place at all cost. I love the Nexo, hate Hyundai the company and will be selling my car soon to avoid this headache again.
Yesterday I put my car for service. In my car there is little bit problems like my boot is not open quite often, my GPS is freezing etc. I ask that guy to check. He told me Hyundai didnt give him money to check what is the problem. If it is not working then they will fix. I told him I bought a headache with my money. I am not happy with their attitude and expression. I will never recommend anybody to buy Hyundai. I will sell my car as well.
My sons car was totaled a month ago and it was a leased vehicle. Geico was on the phone call when we called and got the lease payoff amount. We had put a large amount down at the lease signing and had made our payments. The payoff was $17242 and we negotiated with Geico for $21762.00. We were told by Hyundai finance that the overage although rare would be sent to us. A month go by and no check. I called. They said that the account would be closed on the 8th of July and a check would be sent out. Called to check on the 10th of July, today and now I am told that too bad they keep all of the proceeds and we get nothing. That is not what they said when Geico was on the phone. They have lied and changed their story so many times. I will never buy another Hyundai!
I was a supportive Hyundai customer, owning a 2003 Tiburon GT and a recently purchased 2013 Veloster, until this disheartening event. My airbag light illuminated on my Tiburon, so I did a little research online and came to find that the 2003 Tiburon was recalled for this. The cause is actually the wiring within the seat belt mechanism. You can actually manipulate the light by wiggling the seat belt holder. So, I contacted Hyundai Customer Care America, spoke to a pleasant and professional attendant, and after her research, she told me that it was a recall item and it would be covered by Hyundai; and she said I should go to a dealer asap. It sounds perfect, but that was soon about to change. I went to the dealer, left the car, and was then contacted by the service department and was told that this was not covered. I told them the agent’s name, case number and campaign number, but this did not change the situation. They told me that the repair would be $293. I sent off an email shortly after to Hyundai consumer affairs and CEO of Hyundai America. I received a response back from consumer affairs with a negative result again. You would think that Hyundais foremost concern would be the safety for their customers, seeing as this was a safety issue, with a possibility of the airbag deploying. When I wrote to them, I told them how disheartened I was, and in return, they told me, in closing, thank you for being a part of their Hyundai family. How patronizing is that!
2012 Hyundai Touring car - Driving 45 mph. Everyone slammed on my brakes. They would not lock up. Hit the car ahead at about 22 mph. No air ages deployed even though it smashed in the hood.
Once you buy the car you are on your own with respect to the warranty. There is a poor association with the dealers and the company. The dealer will tell you the work is not covered or do poor work on the car and you have no options. The company will say it is a dealer issue and the dealer will tell you that the corporation has such strict guidelines on warranty work and you will not get anywhere. I complained and sent letters to executives and the president and they will send you back to customer service which will give you the usual routine about company policy. There is NO means of escalation. All you can do as a customer is use social media. This company has archaic concepts of customer service. This company has a long way to go with respect to customer service after you buy the car. Warranty work is very limited. Do not expect standard repairs after you purchase. I will never buy a Hyundai Car again!!!
I am having a huge issue with the quality of service that I am receiving from Hyundai’s service department in Carlsbad. I had an issue with my car on Friday 10/5 around 730 am. I had the car brought to the service department at the dealership by AAA that morning. I received a call from the AAA driver that my car was dropped off at 815. I didn’t hear anything until 2pm from Ulysses that they received my car. He had a second to look at it and maybe it had just run out of gas. I explained that it was having issues prior & when the AAA guy jumped in it did turn on before bogging out so if they could do a diagnostic to the car just to make sure everything else was fine.He asked for my consent to put $20 worth of gas in it and then let me know if it turned on before doing the diagnostic. It has now been 5 days and I have not received one text or call. I called to get an update about the gas, but Ulysses had already left for the day. When I called today I was placed on hold for 13 mins before a rude receptionist told me Ulysses was out for the next two days and won’t be getting to my car. Is this what I can now normally expect from this location? Before moving out here I would take it to the dealership in Corona and they have always given me the best service, quick and communicated great with what was going on. I now feel slight nervous and used leaving my car at a dealer that is so unresponsive and upright rude every time I’ve called.
Bought a new Hyundai Elantra in 2002 and the transmission went out at only 80,000 miles. To fix transmission ranges from $1000 to $2500. That is more than the Blue Book value of the car! Hyundais are JUNK! Get a TOYOTA or a HONDA instead.
In June of this year (2016) I went to motor vehicle to get the necessary paperwork to register my car in my new location. I called Hyundai Motors to find out what I need to do get the title transfer. I was told to fax all my information to them including the paperwork from DMV. I faxed everything down to them in June and I was told it would be a couple of days, to get it to the mvc. As of today I still do not have my title. I have called almost everyday and Ive been hung up on. Ive talked to 4 different supervisors and gotten stone walled on every phone call. Their favorite answer is The title dept isnt available at this moment. Hyundai Motor has the worlds worst customer service and support.
Dan was the man that helped me choose my car. I sort of new what I wanted but his thoughtfulness concerning price and payments was second to none. He also picked us up as we had no car due an accident. He ran through every aspect of what I needed the car for. Many thanks to all at the showroom supplying us coffee while we chose. So to all at the Newport showroom a big thank you and the car well that is just great. I love it.
THE WORST!! I would choose zero stars for the review if it was an option! We financed our car from Hyundai Finance in November 2019 and waited 3 months to receive our title, but we never received it. We then relocated to another state and to be able to register our car, we needed our title. So, we requested a duplicate title from Hyundai in February 2020. We still haven’t received our title because Hyundai Finance fails to address our request properly every time for TWO YEARS. We have been sending countless checks and request letters to Hyundai Finance for them to request a duplicate title from the DMV for us, but they keep saying they haven’t received any checks, even though they are all delivered.For two years now, we haven’t been able to register our car in the state we live in because of the incompetency of the Hyundai title department. There is no way to call the titles department or even send a direct email to them. We have been calling customer service for two years, asking them to send emails on our behalf to the title’s department. But still no action and no clear response!! They even sometimes hang up on me instead of addressing my concerns and requests. This is the WORST experience I’ve ever had with a company in my life!! BEWARE and stay clear of Hyundai Finance!!
2013 Hyundai Veloster: I felt compelled to submit this review because of a recent experience Ive had with the brand that has left a bad taste in my mouth, and in the interest of transparency, should be shared so this doesnt happen to another consumer. In 2012 my parents were looking to buy me a car as a graduation gift (in cash), and we looked at Volkswagen, Hyundai, Jeep, Ford. At the time Hyundai was heavily marketing the 10-year warranty, so we decided to look into purchasing a Hyundai, as this was a major differentiator and benefit from the other brands.My parents ended up working w/ a local dealer in Maryland, who helped locate and purchase an Veloster for me. The entire time, the dealer was aware that the car was being purchased for me. Since it was a gift, I was not at the dealer at the time of sale, and my mother put her name on the title (this is an important detail for later). It was never stipulated that only having her name (and not mine) could be a potential issue, as she was NOT purchasing the car for herself.Flash forward 6 years and I move to the west coast. Right after moving my car, I get it registered in California and transfer the title from my mother so I can pay my own insurance. Dec17 at 55k miles Im hearing a horrendous screech coming out of my wheels, and I find out its a defective wheel bearing (should last 100k). At the dealer they dont mention that this would be covered under my 10-year warranty, because my warranty expired at 50k. This sets off major red flags, as the front wheel bearings are part of drive train, and should be covered under the 10-year/100k mile warranty - I know something isnt right.I call corporate (1st time) and find out that the warranty on my car was just invalidated when I transferred the title, because I moved the car title under my name i/o leaving it under my mothers, which immediately invalidated the 10 year warranty (Ive had this car for 6 years/55k miles). This is a major stipulation that was not presented at the dealer when the car was being sold to my parents (this car was purchased solely for that warranty), so I call the dealer to discuss this issue as it originated w/ them, and they refer me back to corporate. I call corporate again (2nd time) and end up talking to a customer rep who was incredibly condescending and rude, challenging why I would be questioning my warranty (because my car is having issues that should be covered), etc., and was just generally nasty the entire time.I finally ask to talk to his manager, who he says will call within 24-48 hours - wont give me a name or a time (no one ever calls - I hope this conversation was recorded). I call the dealer (2nd time) and explain that corporate is not at all standing behind this, and that the dealer needs to get involved since their salespeople sold the car, and theyre the originators of this issues. Long-short, theyre doing their best to defer and stay uninvolved, saying that theyre not responsible for anything at the time of sale involving warranty. In a situation like this, a brand that stands behind what they market, and a brand that supports and values their customers would simply HONOR THE TERMS the car was marketed and sold as, and move on. Instead, what Ive found is a brand that seizes on the opportunity to shirk away from what was promised at first opportunity, both at corporate as well as at the dealer.I hadnt had an issue with Hyundai before this, but this entire experience has left a terrible mark on the brand for me. In a lifetime youll buy on average 5 cars, and I can confidently say it will never be a Hyundai again, and I recommend no one else does. Dont be duped by the marketing of a 10-year warranty - it sounds too good to be true, and it is. I regret not buying the Jeep.
First item was dash storage compartment that did not work, this was fixed, Chrome tailpiece rusted within 3 months, dealer ordered wrong part to repair, had to take tailpiece and muffler off of courtesy car. Door molding worn through after 3 months from just entering vehicle. (Flimsy and thin compared to my other vehicle.) Poor gas mileage. 4 cylinder is underpowered for mountain driving. Vehicle has stalled while driving on street at 30mph.
My complaint is against Hyundai USA and Rogers Hyundai for pathetic service. We purchased our car from the deceptive car dealer, Ed Napleton Kia in Elmhurst, with a deceptive warranty sale and forging my name on a document in February 2017. Our Veloster was finally put on the road at the end of February and we hear howling sounds through the roof and found rust throughout the car (engine, under driver seat, and trunk). No floods listed on CarFax through. Hmmmm. The car is supposed to still be under the manufacturers warranty and Hyundai corp rep, Czar was supposed to be helping to resolve.We took it to Rogers in the south loop and their service was horrendous and they are liars. (See Yelp!) They never investigated our concerns. They were rude and ignorant and reported back to corporate they was not told about the rust, although it was in the open ticket and verbally told. Their service center was so backlogged. They would do anything to avoid doing their jobs.After speaking back with Czar at corporate about this, their findings was they were in a mixed state to make a decision, which really mean... WE CANT SERVICE YOU without more inconveniences we are going to cause you. This car was taken to McGrath for the rust originally and now Rogers and both have dropped the ball. Now I am being told to take it to another place to run a diagnostics, leave it, and its your issue to find your way back home since Indiana toll roads are where I heard it and in Chicago, the speed limit is 45 mph and they will not have their service men get a ticket to replicate the problem from an original call back. HYUNDAI CORPORATE DOES NOT BACK THEIR ISSUES, and make many excuses to wiggle out of their warranties.
In September 2011, I purchased a 4 ton truck from Hyundai East Rand. I was told that the truck was 4 tons and therefore it could carry a load up to 4 tons. Upon receiving the registration documents I realized that the truck was registered as a 3 ton truck. When I inquired about this, I was told by the sales person, Allan, that this was a fault by Korea. Apart from them selling me the truck under false pretenses, the front cabin of the truck is not straight, the radio keeps skipping channels and switches on even when the trucks ignition is switched off. The truck is sluggish and doesnt feel like a new truck. The engine is rattling, the interior is coming loose and the faults just continue. I have laid a complaint with customer service, but the guy, Sibusisu, just passes the buck and sends me from pillar to post. The dealer principal, Gavin, is not interested in talking to me to sort the problem out. They have taken the truck in for 7 days to identify the problems and they havent given me a replacement truck nor have they compensated me for the loss of income. It is no fault of mine that they sold me a truck that is not up to standard. I need compensation and a 4-ton truck! !
While driving on 5 Freeway in California my 2014 Hyundai Elantra started to violently shake like someone hitting the brake. I threw it in neutral and help my wife turn the steering wheel because we lost power steering. We got lucky and had a space to coast to the side of the road. When we got towed to Tuttle-Click in Irvine, CA and our car turned into the Service department. They basically said we are on our own to find a ride back home and no loaner car. Two days later I have to call them to find out the problem. First a technician said that it was a bad battery but that would not have caused it to completely shut down. Then a few hours later the Service Manager calls to say it was the battery and that is what caused it to shut down on us. I dont know who to believe but my wife doesnt want to ever drive or ride in it again. I have filed a complaint with Hyundai Corporate but dont know what they can do. I guess time will tell.
Not only did our Sales guy sell us a car without the one feature we requested (auto-start), but it is now in service for the 3rd time due to what feels like engine failure when accelerating. Last 2 times Hyundai of Paramus service department stated that since they could not duplicate the issue, that they considered the issue resolved. This time, they did a tear down and are telling me it is the automatic clutch. They said that we beat on the car and thats why. I am 40 years old, live in NJ (the land where traffic happens everywhere, every day) and most of the time my 2 small kids are with me. We thought this would be an economical choice, but it looks like we got a lemon. The service dept. District Manager Sean ** denied our claim for this repair to be covered under their amazing warranty, and told my husband to try and dispute the claim with Hyundai corporate. So, we called corporate, and they said that our only option is to contact the better business bureau. Dont do it to yourself. You dont need the aggravation. Take it from me... 5 days later and $400.00 poorer. Hyundai claim number**.
In March, we had an engine issue with our 2015 Sonata that has less than 8000 miles... It started with the clicking sounds that we hear whenever we hit the accelerator. We brought it to a local dealer. They took 2 weeks to fix the issue. When I asked about if it was all fixed and all was good to go, the dealer said yes and that we shouldnt have any future issues with it. Within 4 days from picking up the fixed car, we start hearing the clicking sound again. We brought it back to the same local dealer to be fixed. Within 3 days of dropping off the car, we received a phone call from the regional manufacturer representative to ask about our vehicle and if the car was repaired. I let her know that we actually had to bring back the vehicle for the same issue just days before she called. She gave me her number and said that she would get back to me within 24 hours with an answer to whats going to happen next. I dont hear from her... Feeling frustrated, I call her to find out whats going on. Since she told me to get in touch with her rather than the dealer, I trusted her and only called her to find out whats going on. I never hear from her... In the meantime, my husband calls their Korean Customer service number to make the complains and only told to speak with the representative who is not returning our calls. She is the one who can make anything happen. WHAT??? We even tried to call different customer service numbers but we are told that she is the one we need to speak to and no one else. Finally after dropping the car off 3 weeks prior, we receive a call from the dealer that the engineer from manufacturer came out to inspect our car and that the entire engine needed to be taken apart to see what is wrong with it. It took 2 days for this engineer to inspect it but no real answers to what is the actual issue. I finally took time off from work to go to the dealer to inspect the car and everything under the hood is taken apart and they said that it will take days to put everything back and repair the issues. While at the dealer, we manage to speak with the Service Manager who said that the manufacturer went cheap way out the first time we brought the car out and they are very interested in our car because for a new car, it is having some engine issue that they cant pinpoint too. He also said that the representative advised him that she has been in contact with us so he doesnt need to call us.Feeling disappointed and frustrated with whats happening with our new car. We tried to get in touch with the regional representative. To this day, we havent been able to speak with her and the car is fixed but the engine makes a lot of noise for a new car especially compared to my dads car that has over 200,000 miles on it and we are just disappointed with our whole experience with this dealer and the manufacturer. We cant wait to return this car when its lease expires in 2 years. Never will I ever buy another Hyundai vehicle. There are reasons why people said never buy Hyundai. Shouldve listened to them.
We have a 2009 Hyundai Sonata with the 2.4L 4 cyl engine. Engine made a knocking noise then locked up about 3 hours from home. Over time we had some minor issues with the car but were very happy with it overall. These included an oil leak covered under warranty, broken starter part, not covered, transmission not shifting properly, reprogram of transmission computer covered under warranty, and a broken door handle, not covered. The plastic starter part and door handle are known issues.When the engine locked up we were towed by AAA (wonderful folks!) 3 hours back home. I called the service department and was informed that there was a $101 fee to diagnose the problem. I dont work for free so I dont expect their mechanics to either. I indicated that the car was out of warranty by 2002 miles but asked that if they could do anything for me I would appreciate it. Service writer was polite but didnt give me a warm fuzzy feeling. A sales associate did offer to give us an appraisal of our dead car toward another Hyundai. Fat chance of that happening. When it was all said and done there was no offer of help from Hyundai other than to install a high mileage salvage engine for about 4 thousand dollars. I have taken the repair to a shop who I have done business with for years. I will never purchase a Hyundai of any kind again nor will I suggest the purchase of one.
Ive been leasing this car for about 2 months and the brand new car shut off on me randomly twice! First time it shut off I had to pick my toddler up from daycare that is 40 min away and they told me they will come in about an hour and half to tow my car. And they will not give me a loaner or anything to replace the vehicle while being looked at while my toddlers school closed and they are waiting for me to grab him. I kept trying to start the car in a panic and 2 hours later before the tow truck got to me the car started and I rushed to get him. The next day took the car to get looked at Paramus Hyundai service center and spent the whole day there with my baby for them to tell me my car is fine and told me I gotta go that they are closing. Meanwhile I tell them I do not feel safe driving with my baby in a car that shuts off with no warnings in middle of the road and I want a loaner and this car looked at more to find the problem. They said no and thats not their problem. Following week sure enough the car shuts off again at 8pm in middle of the road with my dogs and baby in the car and this time it never went back on. Cops stopped the traffic moved the car off road and when I called the sos they told me they cannot tow the car because the service center is closed and they cant get permission to park the car there... So we walked home from that area about a 15-20 min walk at around 10pm. I had to drag the baby back with me early morning to tow the car and sit at the service center all day with my poor son crying. And eventually that place brought me to tears, having me there all day not telling me anything until the very end of the day giving me a lot of problems about giving me a loaner car and only pulling some string and giving me a car seeing that Im stuck there with a fed up toddler. No one helping me, no one cared the first time it broke, now I do not feel safe in this car. I also want money back from the time I spent without a working car. I pay so much money for my time lost sitting on the phone and being transferred from person to person to tell me they cannot help me, calling corporate for them to transfer me from person to person for an hour me explains my issues over and over again to different people for them to tell me someone will call me that can help me in 3-5 business days!!! Are they crazy?! I dont want this car. I dont want to deal with anyone from Hyundai anymore!!! Im fed up, my family is fed up. I have never had so many problems with a car or with customer service as I do with this Hyundai Tucson limited! Im disgusted with the way I have been treated and I cannot believe Im still in this unsafe car that supposedly was fixed. A car that ** off like this after 2 months of driving it brand new is not a safe car and is not worth $466 a month! PS. There is a lot more to all this but I wanted to make it as short as possible. Bottom line me and my baby were put in unsafe position twice and no one does anything about it!
