2025 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid
Find big savings on Hyundai Automobile(s) at Auto Helpers. Low Prices.
The 2025 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid is a beautifully refined compact SUV that blends surprising efficiency, modern design, and an engaging hybrid powertrain.
The drivetrain pairs a turbocharged 1.6 L inline‑4 gas engine with a 47.7 kW electric motor, producing a combined 231 hp and 271 lb‑ft of torque. All-wheel drive is standard. Acceleration is responsive, with 0–60 mph times around 6.7–7.2 seconds depending on trim. The six‑speed automatic transmission helps deliver smooth, linear power—and avoids the rubber-band feel typical of CVTs.
Fuel economy is rated at around 38 mpg city, highway, and combined on the Blue base trim; SEL, N Line, and Limited trims are rated at a combined 35 mpg. Real-world fueling data shows drivers often achieving 33–36 mpg combined, even during break‑in periods or breaking in the vehicle. Highway-only operation (around 65 mph) can yield as much as 40 mpg.
Redesigned for 2025, the Tucson’s interior features a panoramic curved dash housing dual 12.3‑inch screens (driver cluster + touchscreen), physical knobs for audio and HVAC, a column-mounted shift selector, and improved storage layouts. Premium updates include laminated side glass, dual wireless charging ports, ambient LED lighting, enhanced USB‑C charging, and acoustic insulation on upper trims like Limited.
Cargo space measures about 38.7 cu ft behind the rear seats, expanding to nearly 74.5 cu ft with the rear row folded. Interior volume is spacious—about 41 in of front and rear legroom respectively—offering flexibility for passengers and cargo.
Trim pricing in the U.S.:
Blue AWD starts near US $33,465
SEL Convenience AWD ~US $36,465
N Line AWD ~US $38,215
Limited AWD ~US $41,295 including freight
In Canada, N Line Hybrid starts around C$45,249; Limited Hybrid around C$49,249 MSRP.
Standard safety includes Hyundai SmartSense: forward collision with pedestrian & cyclist detection, lane-keeping, adaptive cruise control with lane-centering, blind-spot and rear cross-traffic collision avoidance. The Tucson Hybrid earned IIHS Top Safety Pick+ honors, and includes a 5‑year/60,000 mile vehicle warranty along with complimentary maintenance for 3 years or 36,000 miles.
Owner feedback reveals:
Break‑in MPG often starts at 11–14 L/100 km (~20–24 mpg), but settles to ~6–7 L/100 km (~35 mpg) after a few hundred km.
Highway driving at 65 mph commonly nets 33+ mpg—dropping to ~27 mpg at 75 mph.
The Limited trim tends to deliver the smoothest, most refined driving experience.
Bottom line: The 2025 Tucson Hybrid offers a compelling blend of power (231 hp AWD), excellent fuel economy (~35–38 mpg), modern tech, and a spacious cabin. Its hybrid system is smoother than many others, thanks to a traditional automatic transmission. With generous features and strong safety credentials, it’s a top hybrid SUV pick in its class—especially in Limited trim for those wanting premium upgrades. Let me know if you’d like towing specs, Canadian incentive info, or comparison vs Toyota RAV4 Hybrid or Tucson PHEV.

Buy Hyundai Automobile 2025 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid
I am writing about both my Hyundai Elantra Coupe and my sons Elantra GT. My Coupe has 14,100 miles on it and the CD player wont work, the transmission slips between shifts, the Bluetooth has to be synced every time I use it. Guess you get what you pay for. My sons GT has under 40,000 miles on it and has been through two sets of tire and starting on the third, front wheel bearings have been replaced already and the rear suspension is so poorly designed it wears tires at twice the rate of the front. Both vehicles are 19 months old. I would never recommend a Hyundai to anyone.
In February 2010, I bought a new 2010 Hyundai Elantra Touring from a RT.44 Hyundai dealership in Raynham, Massachusetts. I was very pleased with the vehicle, still am. Here is the issue: About a week ago, I came out to the Touring and noticed that the passenger side front bumper cover was just hanging on and was no longer attached to the fender. I looked to see why it wasnt attached and saw that the tab from the bumper cover that secures it to the fender on the inside had completely sheared off from the inside of the bumper cover. It was not broken, chipped, or cracked it was sheared completely off in a straight line the whole tab. I had an oil change scheduled the next day with RT.44 Hyundai. When I arrived, I informed my service adviser about the bumper problem.Later when I went to pick the vehicle up, I was informed by the service adviser that RT.44 Hyundai would not cover the replacement of the bumper cover due to the fact that the mechanic found two hairline scratches that never even broke through the clear coat on that side of the bumper cover. These scratches that I had never seen before where so small and light they look like it was made by a tree branch or something and would buff out with compound and a towel. There was no other damage around the surrounding area at all. This was the reason they stated why they would not cover it under the warranty. I then asked to speak to a service manager and brought him out to see the vehicle and showed him the bumper cover. When we walked out to the vehicle, it was drizzling rain and I showed him the cover and let him look it over. He never once mentioned even seeing any scratches around the area. He wasnt made aware of them until we went back inside and he brought my information up on his computer and saw what the mechanic had written. He then stated it would cost me in excess of $1,000 to have the bumper replaced. Im a single mother and do not have the financial resources to lay out that kind of money.I then sent an email to Consumer Affairs of Hyundai of America and was instructed by them to bring my vehicle to another Hyundai dealership for them to look at it. I brought the vehicle to another Hyundai dealer (the closest being 20 miles away). They put the vehicle on the lift and validated everything I was stating on a work order, that no damage was found to cause that bumper tab to snap off the way it did. So now with this in hand, I felt pretty good about my chances of getting the bumper cover replaced under warranty. I contacted Consumer Affairs again and told them of the outcome and that I had gotten a work order from that dealership confirming everything I was stating. The T2 supervisor from Consumer Affairs then told me I would have to go back to the dealership I purchased the vehicle from and rehash it out with them as she stated they had no authority to tell a dealership to honor the warranty. I had done everything they asked me to do at my expense just to have them tell me that I would have to argue with the original dealership over it again. I have kept all the emails correspondences with Consumer Affairs of Hyundai and the work order from the other dealership. So as of today, Im driving around with my front bumper cover held on by tape. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
I am so upset Hyundai do not seem to be concern about me not being able to get around. Hyundai got my car, they have to replace my motor, they say they do not have a loaner and tell me to rent a car for two months and they will reimburse me. I have told them several times I cannot afford to do that and pay my car notes. They reached out to me with several lies but closed my account. They say someone will contact me after I contacted them again and its been a week and no one have reached out yet. If they would tell people ahead of time they have some things that goes wrong with the motor many people wouldnt waste time with Hyundai. But I with others will make sure no one else get helmed up like this because this is a burden that we carry without the care of Hyundai. So on every social media page, emails, and in our advertisements with the different companies we will mention how poorly Hyundai took care of us.
I purchased my 3rd brand new Hyundai in 2005. I have always chose Hyundai models as I believed in your vow of Americas best warranty although I had always paid them off and traded them in around 60,000 miles. I did make a decision to hold onto my most recent Hyundai which is a 2005 Hyundai Tiburon. I am a extremely anal when it comes to maintenance, to the point friends and family mock me. No one but the dealership has EVER been under the hood of any of my Hyundais. I have even taken it to them to have air put in the tires. I never missed a maintenance and am always at the dealership within the 3 months - 3,000 miles with checkbook in hand asking them to do whatever is necessary to maintain the warranty, value of the vehicle and to keep my car running. I just had the 2005 Tiburon in for scheduled service in April 2014. As always, this service department who had handled all my cars over the past 20 years said the car was in impeccable shape. Memorial day 2014 (a little over a month later), while driving I turned on the air. Within 5 minutes it started to jerk and sputter, smoke started to rise from under the hood and all my dashboard lights came on. I pulled over and called a tow. The next day I was in shock when the service manager called and said the engine had blew. I was not concerned with the cost as it was still 20,000 miles and 1 year under warranty. When I asked how this had happened, he said the car had a small leak in the radiator which caused it to overheat. I begged for answers on how this could happen. How I would have known there was a slow leak and if there was light that should have warned me and how the engine could have blown from overheating. Nothing Greg from Hyundai City said made sense to me on how I could have done anything different to prevent this. All he could say was because I had driven the car for an extended period of time, while overheating it would not be covered under the warranty and the cost would be about $3,000. There was literally minutes between realizing something was wrong and when the car died on the side of the road. There was not a single sign before this moment that would have led me to know something was wrong. He also went on to explain because the radiator wasnt covered and this is what ultimately caused the damage, they could not possibly cover the cost. I have no words. I have sent countless customers to this dealership as well as given Hyundai 60,000 plus dollars worth of business. They know how meticulous I am about service and have all my records. The car had 80,000 miles on it and just a month earlier was told the car was in perfect condition and now it sits with a blown engine without any fault of my own. I could not have done anything more to maintain the car or meet the warranty criteria. I did file a case with Hyundai but based on what Greg has told them I received an email stating that they will not honor the warranty. I am heartbroken and have no idea why the company I was so faithful to would treat me, let alone any customer this way. I have no words. I had no doubt that Hyundai would do the right thing but I am growing less and less faithful. I have no idea how this happened to my car and the company who can make this right refuses to. I know losing one customer is not a big deal to you but at the end of the day your integrity is all you have whether it be with one person or millions. It is all the same.
I have a 2006 Hyundai Sonata. I got it brand new in 2006 as a birthday gift from my parents and I loved it ever since, but the dealer is full of it. I recently had my air bag light go on. The one that went off was the passenger occupant sensor in the passenger seat - it registers the weight of the person. I am well out of warranty and I am fine with that. I called up Freehold Hyundai, in NJ, and at first they wanted $125 for a diagnostic and then $400 to fix the problem. Since when does a 23-year-old have that kind of money? So I explained how I knew the part was important, that I just didnt have the money. So the man I spoke with just apologized and said it was the dealer who has the charge. After that I got annoyed. I said, Youre not BMW. You can have the car back because if youre not going to work with me then see ya. I am done. The dealer, all of a sudden, said he could fix it for $200. That threw me off because now suddenly you can do it for less? Shady. So then I thought about it and talked to my dad and we decided to hold off. Might I also add, I work in the automotive business and know about cars, especially my car. So I took my car to my job and had the Master Technician pull the code and reset my air bag light. The only reason I did not have my job fix it was because the part is a dealer thing. So finally on Saturday of last week, I saw the service manager come walking in. As I was ringing him up, I explained to him my problem. He said leave him a message with my VIN and he would see what he could do. Okay, great, I thought because maybe he would look up if it was a recall. My co-worker then suggested to look it up on my own for a recall and let them know and that is exactly what I did. When I called them up, I asked for a recall to be checked on the vehicle and left a message to the guy who checks that. He called me back and said, I really dont know where you got your information from, but there is no such thing as a recall. So I replied, Wonderful. Now what? The guy said, Come in for a diagnostic and well take it from there. I then said, This is the problem. You guys want 125 dollars for a code that my Master Technician gets for me for free and he pulled the B1448 code. I figured he would know what I was talking about considering he works in the service department, but no, I was wrong. He then replied back to me saying Well, you see at our dealership, we have machines where we get a code that actually tells us what is wrong not a numerical code. I then said, Really? Wow. Because what came up with that code was that it was the occupant sensor and it is a defect. I am surprised you dont know that based off the code number. He replied back with, Well, we need a diag on the car. At this point I was irritated and said, There is a diag fee right? He then went, Well, not necessarily. We have a goodwill program where we try and get them to fix it, but it is difficult for us to do that. At this point I checked out of the conversation because I had enough of being treated like Im the idiot when in actuality, I am much younger than this guy and a female, and am telling him whats wrong with the car. At this point, I called back to the dealer asking to speak to the service manager who resolved my issue by splitting the cost of the diagnostic in half with me.I was all set to go with an appointment when I had a gut feeling something was still wrong. I went into work on a Friday morning and was almost in tears over this. My manager then went onto a website that allows us to check for recalls and found the recall. He printed the paper out and said, They tried to take advantage of you, heres the paper. So I got mad even more. How can a retail manager of an automotive store find the recall when the actual dealer knows nothing about it? Way to go, Freehold Hyundai, I applaud you for trying to scam me. So I went to lunch and called another Hyundai dealer who told me then that there is a recall for three separate codes on the sensor that is defective in my car. The woman I spoke to explained that if the diagnostic shows one of the codes, their dealership will fix it under warranty. So I went in to them. It turned up to be one of the codes the woman said and the dealer was amazing. They kept my car that day, gave me a loaner car, and kept me informed about everything they were doing. Hey, Freehold Hyundai, why did another dealer find the recall, when you supposedly said there wasnt any recall? I strongly suggest hiring people who know what they are doing. When I went to the other dealer to fix my car, I told them what happened and the staff all looked at me and said, What is wrong with them? They tried to take advantage of you. Next time come to us. They made me so happy. I now have my car back, the part is fixed and I am so happy. Thanks, Freehold for making me feel stupid. You lost a customer and many more.
First and last Hyundai. I came from a Toyota family, but Id heard about the progress Hyundai was making, so I purchased a brand new Hyundai Sonata (23 miles on it) in April of 2014. Fast forward to last week (March 2016) my wife experienced engine trouble with it. No check engine light or anything. But no problem, they have a 10yr/100,000 mile warranty on it, right?? WRONG! I took it in to get the engine fixed and they denied my request. They stated that based on what they saw, I didnt maintain the vehicle. Not once did they ask for my service records! (I had my car serviced more than the recommended amount...) I come to find out theres a class-action lawsuit for this very issue. They refuse to honor their warranty EVEN AFTER I provided proof of maintenance! This car was not even 2 years old yet. How frustrating. Be sure and avoid these guys. Theyre crooked. Never giving them another cent. Ill go back to Toyota.
I am beyond disappointed and disgusted with the customer service and system that takes place for recall and warranty work. My engine light began flashing Friday morning and I instantly called my “home” dealership to inquire what to do. They said to pull over and not drive it any further and to contact roadside assistance to have it towed to the nearest Hyundai dealership. I did just that. My vehicle is a 2017, but purchased brand new March 2018. I am well under the 100,000 km/ 5 year warranty. Once we arrived at the dealership to get things rolling, I was informed that my vehicle has an engine recall - thanks for the notice in the mail on that one, Hyundai - NOT. So that was a major surprise to hear. I get back to work and receive a phone call from service that my engine failed all diagnostic tests and that I needed a new engine altogether. I confirmed all my services have been done through Sherwood Park Hyundai, so they said, Great, we’ll get them to send over your records and send everything off to Hyundai Canada for approval and get you a rental. I expressed how much I required a rental, as I am 8 months pregnant and my husband is not available to be driving me to and from work. They told me by Monday or Tuesday they would know the status of the engine and we can do the rental car. I had to call Monday afternoon for an update, she informed me that nothing had been approved yet, but by Tuesday we’d know. I once again explain the need for the rental. Received no phone call Tuesday, so at 2:45 pm I called them, again. Once again told Hyundai Canada still didn’t approve the warranty for the engine. Not only is this a RECALL, but I am under warranty. They then said I could pay $40/ day for a rental through them and once warranty was approved, they’d take it over. I asked if I’d be reimbursed, they said no. So Hyundai wants me to not only pay my bi-weekly payments on a vehicle I can’t drive, but also pay out of pocket for a rental when it should have already been dealt with and set up. RIDICULOUS. Having a vehicle gets me to my place of employment, which allows me to pay you people for the vehicle sitting in one of your dealerships waiting for an engine on a basically still new vehicle. They were not willing to a single thing to help me out. I will never be buying a Hyundai again. My husband is already looking at getting rid of his also due this service. I owned 3 Chevy’s prior to the Tucson thinking it was a good move. Worst decision and full regret. Things started great with Hyundai and has plummeted over the years. Whenever my vehicle was in the shop with Chevy they ensured they had a fleet/lot vehicle available to me to drive. When I had to get warranty work done and they required to keep my vehicle for 3 days, they had a rental available to me instantly. Odd, they had no issue getting me in a rental ASAP. Hyundai, you are beyond disappointing and I am disgusted with your customer service.
Hyundai Azera is a cross between a 4 door sedan and a sports car. 6 cylinder gas engine has plenty of power from 0-60 and fuel mileage is 21-27 mph which is decent economy. It is built solidly and provides a smooth ride even over bad roads. GPS and heated seats are standard. FWD provides solid traction in snow up to 6 inches. Lots of good driver safety features at an affordable price. Hyundai’s 5/60/100K warranty is best in the industry. Blue Link app feature provides remote start, SOS, and other invaluable features at a reasonable yearly cost after the original B to B warranty expires. Hyundai discontinued manufacturing the Azera in 2017. The only drawback is if purchased used, the powertrain warranty is reduced to 60K and prepaid MTCE cannot be purchased unless it is a certified preowned vehicle (CPO).
My 2013 Accent has multi rust spots on roof and the right side on top of both doors. Took this issue to Hyundai last September 2014 for warranty issue but was denied by Hyundai saying this is caused by rock chips, this car was only twenty-six months old at that time. After saying this, the hood do have a few small chips which are not noticeable unless you really look for them and there is no sign of rusting. Now explain how can there be rust spots on the roof from so called rock chips when the hood has rock chips and no sign of rust. I had never had my car on gravel roads, yet my husbands Tucson, purchased at the same time, always on gravel roads, do not have any rust spots. I personally think because I am a woman that they can make that decision, guess what, this is not the end. I have been to a body shop and was told the rust is from inside out and do have this documented as of today, May 13, 2015. When I decided for the second time to purchase from Hyundai, I also convinced my husband to purchase one also, which he did at the same time, Hyundai Tucson. We will never ever purchase from Hyundai again. Please follow me in this and do not make any purchases from Hyundai. I will keep this going all the way if possible to get justice.
I was in a side and front end collision and my left side airbag went off but my driver air bag did not after trying to avoid a head-on collision with a dodge truck. After the truck hit my left side, I ended up going through a wire fence and hit a steel pole and a cedar tree before my car stopped. After all that no steering wheel airbag. This on 11/14/11 at 6 a.m. Im feeling pain and Im not happy at this point.
We have had the 2014 Elantra a year which we bought directly from Woodland Hills Hyundai dealer. It wasnt cheap, as with the extended warranty of 100,000 miles it came to $24,000. We were never told the car did not come with a spare tire. We spent the evening of fathers day being towed back to the dealer and missing our plans because we got a flat tire. The response I was given as its like this in all the cars now. I know that isnt true, because we also bought a Toyota and Nissan which have spare tires. For a company that prides itself on safety, not having a spare or informing the purchase that there is no spare, is not ok!!! The car drives fine, but this to me reflects very poor customer service.
Most of the staff in Fairfax Hyundai Dealership, including supervisor, are rude and ruthless. The manager does not show up to the showroom, and does not return any calls. My Hyundai 2003 Sonata started smoking on New Years day. The car battery got drained due to an electric short circuit. The car was towed, and after paying $582, within 24hrs, the car smoked again. The dealer explained that this is a different problem, and I must pay an additional $250 to fix the auxiliary plug in the trunk. The dealer blamed me and the things in my trunk, to cause the electric plug to fuse (never heard of this before). My car is stuck at the dealer, and I want to take them to court for cheating, not fixing the issue, and jeopardizing the life of my sister who got stranded with a smoking car in the middle of night. I have no car to get to work to, skipped doctors appointments, and my car is still with the dealer.
I took my 2009 Santa Fe to our local dealer for a leak in the factory-installed sunroof. The first time, they supposedly made adjustments to tighten the window down. The second time, they said the seal was bad and they had to order a new sunroof window. My question was why they didnt find this the first time. The third, they replaced the window. Now, this one leaks worse than the original. This has happened all in the last 3 weeks. I have no faith in the dealer that is doing the work. But since it is still in factory warranty, I am stuck. We have had nothing but trouble with this vehicle since we have purchased it. But we are stuck with this lemon for a little while longer.
They repaired the throttle sensor on my 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe on 06-27-12. I did not notice that the hood latch did not work after until I went to have my battery checked the first part of 08/2012. At that time, I called them about it. The man, who was my service tech, did not say much. I took it to my dealer the last of August to have some work done. They told me that it would cost $119.00 to repair it. I feel that West Broad Hyundai of Richmond should repair or pay my dealer for the work. The latch cover on the inside of the car had to be taken off in order to open the hood. You now have to pull the wire to open the hood.
I purchase a 2020 Hyundai Kona, in Aug 2020, and the exterior black trim around the doors, windows and rear liftgate have faded! I took it to the dealership and was accused of waxing them, thus making them fade? Does that make sense? I called the Hyundai customer care department and opened a case only to be told you waxed it and they will not do anything about it! I didnt wax them, but now I have to live with it. BEWARE OF HYUNDAI PRODUCTS! I have the 2020 Kona Ultimate with faded black trim! The family that they claim you belong once you purchase a Hyundai doesnt exist!
I purchased a 2014 Hyundai Tucson Limited in April 2014. At that time I was pleased with it and the Blue Link App. I was happy with the dealership, Hyundai of Huntsville TX. The BLUE LINK features for the Remote and Guidance expire after 3 mos so you have to purchase what you want to keep...$99 a year for each!! Most autos have these features indefinitely for free.I purchased the REMOTE package as I dont need the GUIDANCE. As soon as I purchased the package, many of the features I enjoyed under the REMOTE no longer worked...i.e., the Valet alert and to be able to turn it off and on through the app on my phone and also the GEO fence alert. It no longer sends me text messages either. If I am in a restaurant, I want to be able to set the valet alert from the app on my phone if I forget to set it before getting out of the car. If Im away from home and my car is at home, I want to be able to set the GEO fence through the app like I used to before the GUIDANCE pkg was removed.HYUNDAI BLUE LINK has UPDATED AND IMPROVED an app that no longer works the way it did when I paid for it. I have gotten no satisfaction through multiple calls and emails. I paid for a service from HYUNDAI that I no longer receive because the TECH SUPPORT is worthless and they cannot put the app back the way it was to include the features I paid for.I proved to them that when they took the GUIDANCE package off that I no longer wanted, that it also took away the features that I am speaking about. Unless you KEEP AND PAY FOR THE GUIDANCE, you dont get the feature of turning the VALET and GEO off through the phone app. ALSO THE TEXT ALERTS DO NOT WORK FOR IT!! WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO CHECK MY EMAIL TO SEE IF MY CAR HAS BEEN MOVED WITHOUT MY PERMISSION!! I think HYUNDAI needs to make things right and get the app back where it was when I paid for it or give me some sort of compensation....like leave the GUIDANCE AND REMOTE ON MY CAR FREE FOR THE LIFETIME I HAVE THE VEHICLE. My husband has the same features on his Chrysler Town and Country....doesnt have to pay extra for even the LIFETIME MAPS and his actually works like it supposed to without all the extra hassle. Needless to say, I wont be buying another HYUNDAI and will be telling others about the issues I have.
In the 9 months since I purchased my 2011 Hyundai Genesis, the navigation screen has frozen numerous times. The dealer has replaced the original unit with 3 other navigation units and did a software update on one of the replacement units. The last replacement unit was DOA (dead on arrival). I have spoken with the service manager at the dealer numerous times. I have taken the car back to the dealer too many times. I have written the corporate offices twice, and spoken to the regional manager several times. It has been more than 4 weeks since I spoke with the Hyundai regional manager and nobody has contacted me since.
My 2012 Hyundai Veloster sunroof shattered while sitting in my garage. When I called Hyundai the lady that I spoke with stated she doesn’t know how that could just happen. Then tell me someone will contact me in about 5 to 7 business days. I have no vehicle to drive and they didn’t seem to be too big of a hurry or concerned about this defect.
I have never, in my life, been treated so rudely. Their customer service rep hung up on me. I thought she had all the information that she needed and gone to find out. The next day when I was expecting my paperwork to be where it was supposed to, it was not. So when I called back the next day, upset that my paperwork had not been transferred, the rep on the phone was once again rude. The rep promised my paperwork would be there in 1-2 hours, and it was never done on time. Not only is this now costing me money, but I was treated horribly as well. And with an interest payment of 20% on a car, they should invest money in training their reps.
After having a HORRIBLE experience with the Hyundai of North Charleston Dealership in North Charleston, SC (See my review there also) my car was fixed after 3 WEEKS and I was left without having any vehicle for work. I am in sales and work in the field where an automobile is a NECESSITY! Thats why I bought NEW for dependability! My car was still under warranty and only needed a battery & starter (this took 3 weeks). I only had 39k miles.Hyundai customer care REFUSED to pay for a rental car for me and the dealership said NO loaners were available. I was only able to rent a car for 2 days and submitted paperwork for reimbursement and was only offered $150 for the rental when I had to pay almost $300 for the rental for 2 days on an economy size car! Hyundai would not even offer the FULL amount for my 2 DAY RENTAL! Wow! I was told that if I rented a car...Hyundai would reimburse me and turns out this was another MAJOR Letdown from this whole Hyundai ordeal! Its a very good thing (only 1 out of this whole story) that I was not able to rent a car for the 3 weeks...because I would have not gotten ALL my $$ back which would have been a DOUBLE loss of money $$ for me being out of work for 3 weeks AND not having received a FULL Rental car reimbursement! I totally feel disrespected and was treated like my business was of VERY LITTLE VALUE to them. This was my 2nd Hyundai purchase...but after this ordeal...I am DONE with Hyundai...the corporate office seems to be WORST than this dealership! Nobody seems to care in this company as a whole except SELLING you their CAR! :-( RUUNNN!!!! Very Disgruntled Loyal Hyundai Customer,Sybil
I bought a 2013 Hyundai Elantra For $8999 with 83,000 miles on it in January 2018. Today is March 20, 2018 and the car needs a new engine. They will not replace the engine. I took it to Morrie’s Hyundai to fix and they refused to fix it saying Hyundai corporate refuses to fix the engine because I am 2nd owner of the car that the 100,000 mile warranty does not apply. Who has allowed them to make and sell cars, take peoples money and not honor the warranty. It’s a crime that needs the law to look at this. I have a car loan on a dead car not even worth enough to trade for another. I want the engine fixed or my money back or at least replace the car.
Nothing but problems from day one of this loan; first month wrong contract information entered that I fought for 39 months. At month 36 of my 39-month lease, I learn they made an error and its a 48-month lease, We went around and around. Then turn in car at end of lease (48 months not 39-months mind you!) to have termination fees, return fees, mileage fees (I expected those), and had a $1400.00 bill. HMF tells me I can pay it incrementally via the same account. I pay $400. then $100 each month at the suggestion of the HMF call representative. I did this on principle because I was so mad about how I was treated so I decided to pay it slowly. Yesterday, I get a phone call from a collection agency saying I owe $1400.00. I explain I have the payment confirmations from my bank showing $900.00 in payments my husband has made--the agency says (quote) well hes lying. No payments have been made and you owe it. I call HMF today and the representative, Tanya, with a heavy Indian accent, tells me she sees the $900.00 and its in collection for $402.21. Again, I tell her that her Hyundai co-representative told me to pay it that way. She says, Ill make a note of that on your account but you have to make arrangements with the collection agency to pay it. I have never had collections on this or any car loan! OMG I was NEVER LATE NOT ONCE. It was auto-pay from my bank! I requested a statement with complete billing history and told Tanya I would pay Hyundai the full amount directly. I have been switched and mislead over and over. Buyer beware!
My car (Santa Fe) was in park in my driveway which has a very slight incline and the car was running. I got out of the car, walked around it to get groceries out and went back to the drivers side to turn the car off. I put my right leg on the seat and reached around the steering wheel to grab the keys. The car started rolling backwards. My left leg was already outside the car and I was to get out but the car door knocked me down. The front tire ran over my right knee, my right elbow and arm, and my right wrist. I went to ER and was diagnosed with severe deep tissue contusions of my right leg and left arm right arm, sprained left ankle and right wrist. I watched the tire run over me and I watched the tire pass 4 from my head as it continued to roll down the driveway making a clicking noise, then jump the curb and stop in my neighbors yard (still in park and radio was on, but car not running). I towed the car to HYUNDAI. They said there was nothing wrong.
The Veloster is a cheap fun car. Great to get around town and to work. The build quality could be better but youre getting a car for under $20000 it is what it is. I would definitely recommend this to a younger crowd. The ride is stiff but you need it for the way it tracks.
I would like to highlight that I have a very bad experience with the quality of tyres Verna is using. Verna was one the cars I always wanted and finally one year back I bought it. However, I did not know that it uses some bad quality tyres. I was travelling from Indore to Pune on 2nd June 2019, when the tyre (Front Left side) of my car (Hyundai verna SX (O)) got burst and I had near escape from death. My spouse got hurt on her head and eyes. I was driving at a speed of maximum 50kmph, as it was a single road, between Rajgurunagar and Chakan. The Front Tyre (left side) suddenly got burst. On contacting the service management of Hyundai and Hankok (tyre manufacturer/dealer), they said it is a cut on the side wall and its not a fault of tyre and denied my request of replacing it. My point is such expensive and big cars who can run at around 140kmph, should have such bad quality tyres and risk life of the customers. OR, should they provide any better reliable and trusted brand. For instance, even I say, there was an impact on tyre, should the tyre easily gets burst. I have another car - Chevrolet Beat and used Bridgestone, MRF for last 10 years not. Have gone on potholes on highways on speed as fast as 100kmp, but never had this experience. This clearly shows the quality of tyres.
When we purchased our 2020 Venue we had no idea there were no parts. We had to wait so long for our snow tires that we got into an accident. The car has been at the autobody for over a month because Precision Hyundai says they have no parts. Heaven only knows when we will get our car returned or how long we will have to wait to get the snow tires installed. They were wonderful until we purchased the car. Then no service. I would never purchase another Hyundai.
I have been a customer of Hyundai for over 5 years, I recently had a bad oil leak on my IX20 which I had bought from new. They explained that the repair would be done under warranty and that a courtesy car would be provided. Unfortunately thats where the problems started. Hyundai courtesy car insurance only cover people between the age of 21 to 69 so it was suggested that I add the courtesy car to my insurance but when I contacted my insurance company that told me that they could not insure a car that is already insured. My car will take three days to repair. The suggestion given by my insurance company and the Hyundai dealer is that I hire a car to cover the 3 days. It seems Im being penalised for a Hyundai manufacturing failure.
My complaint is against Hyundai USA and Rogers Hyundai for pathetic service. We purchased our car from the deceptive car dealer, Ed Napleton Kia in Elmhurst, with a deceptive warranty sale and forging my name on a document in February 2017. Our Veloster was finally put on the road at the end of February and we hear howling sounds through the roof and found rust throughout the car (engine, under driver seat, and trunk). No floods listed on CarFax through. Hmmmm. The car is supposed to still be under the manufacturers warranty and Hyundai corp rep, Czar was supposed to be helping to resolve. We took it to Rogers in the south loop and their service was horrendous and they are liars. (See Yelp!) They never investigated our concerns. They were rude and ignorant and reported back to corporate they was not told about the rust, although it was in the open ticket and verbally told. Their service center was so backlogged. They would do anything to avoid doing their jobs. After speaking back with Czar at corporate about this, their findings was they were in a mixed state to make a decision, which really mean... WE CANT SERVICE YOU without more inconveniences we are going to cause you. This car was taken to McGrath for the rust originally and now Rogers and both have dropped the ball. Now I am being told to take it to another place to run a diagnostics, leave it, and its your issue to find your way back home since Indiana toll roads are where I heard it and in Chicago, the speed limit is 45 mph and they will not have their service men get a ticket to replicate the problem from an original call back. HYUNDAI CORPORATE DOES NOT BACK THEIR ISSUES, and make many excuses to wiggle out of their warranties.
I recently called/Hyundai roadside assistance, noticing that it included towing. My vehicle has a flat tire, and at this point I don’t have a ton of extra money. I live 200 feet away from a Firestone tire, a relative helped by purchasing the tire I needed and Firestone said they would install it. All I have to do is get the vehicle or the wheel over there. Well Hyundai Veloster don’t come with a spare tire or jack. So I can’t jack the car up and take the wheel off, this didn’t seem like a problem knowing I had roadside assistance. Well roadside assistance will not hold me across the street where I already have a fully paid tire waiting, they would however bring me to a Hyundai dealer but they are non-local to me. I was told by the tow company that exceptions can be made so I spent time on the phone with Hyundai’s customer service just so that they could tell me no. I can assure you after customer service like this I will never return to Hyundai again. This is a lack of compassion for their consumers, I understand you want me to be brought to a Hyundai dealer so the dealer can make the money on the tire and installation, but in my particular situation you should’ve okayed a tow across the street; don’t buy a Hyundai thinking you have someone there for you when you need it. You don’t.
2011 Hyundai Elantra 1.8 L. - When stopped for a red light or just sitting at an idle (in gear or in neutral), the engine 1.8L vibrates so much that your body shakes while you are waiting for the green light. Vibration stops once the car is moving at normal speeds. I was told by the dealers service manager that Hyundai is aware of this problem, but few owners have experienced this problem and Hyundai may not fix this. Ive had this problem since I bought this car new off their lot. Its been 2 years now and I am very disappointed in the way Hyundai is doing nothing about my problem. I have continuously been bringing the car back to to the dealer asking the service people where I bought this car to please fix the problem. They keep telling me there is nothing they can do to fix it. At present, I have 40k miles. Please advise me.
A.) OVERALL QUALITY: Hyundai is now (and will be likely continue to be involved in) --> MULTIPLE-CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS
The 2006 Hyundai Accent had low maintenance and also the cost for repairs and the upkeep for the vehicle was always very inexpensive. In addition the vehicle had great mileage on gas which helped when gas was $5.00 a gallon. It was also compact in size which made parking easy and had a 4 cylinder engine. There was a brief recall on the car for issues with the back brake light staying on after the car was shut off but the manufacturing department took care of the problem at no cost.
This is not exactly what happened, but more like a what is about the Hyundai Elantra. I have just found this website when I decided to do some searching for Hyundai information, especially the Hyundai Elantras so-called automatic transmission. You see, in July 2010, I was desperately in need of some good transportation for myself and my family, and I decided to take a look at Hyundai. I am embarrassed to say that I bought two Elantras at the same time. Im even more embarrassed to admit that I traded a really nice Impala for them. OK, time to cut through the chase about the Elantra automatic. I have a very strong belief that Hyundai is under geared or lacks adequate gearing for the motors power band. Admittedly, Im no expert and unable to spew out technical jargon on the subject. But shortly after becoming an owner of my two Hyundais, I noticed that there was something very substandard about how these things shifted and accelerated. Ive begun reading other peoples reviews and I believe some of them are describing the very same condition, but maybe a little less technically aware of the actual problem. Its true that the vehicle will upshift during acceleration, putting the motor into a lugging state, if that is possible for a gasoline motor as it is for a diesel motor. Just to reiterate, Im not an expert on the subject but actually would love to hear someones expert opinion on the matter. Anyhow, these people are right such as Della of Omaha, NE - i.e. during normal acceleration. The vehicle shifts, then has very little power and begins to chug and vibrate so you have to punch the accelerator to go back down into the gear you just upshifted from. The condition is somewhat circumvented the more rapidly you accelerate, but soon you may find the RPMs back in that inadequate power range. I dont think this poses a problem for salespeople during a test drive because they know most people are going to punch the accelerator to see how it accelerates, meanwhile not noticing this annoying flaw. Now there is something in the drivers manual about manually downshifting for some situations and I think this can help some, but I think there is a tendency to forget to shift back into high gear. So to me, that makes it questionable about whether or not the vehicle is really automatic shifting, even though it is technically an automatic transmission. Ive heard people saying they went to the dealer experiencing this condition. Im not surprised theyre not acknowledging a problem with the vehicle. After all, they knew about it when they sold it to you. Without quoting right from the warranty, Im pretty sure it says something about vehicle performance that is characteristic to all the vehicles deems it to be normal. I would guess its a car companys right to sell you a crappy car, and the dealers too. It just proves people will do anything for a buck, even to whip out their Motor Trend magazine where it was their car of the year. So how did that happen, are they a creditable magazine? I just think they knew they were building a crappy car and they got people going around saying its great.
I called because I have a 2011 Sonata with only 67000 miles and have had engine repaired and now axle and I paid out of pocket for wheel bearing which should have been cover. The supervisor CODY was rude and his tone was uncalled for and instead listen and trying to rectify the situation he just stated that, case manager will contact you in 3 to 5 business days. He also stated that it is not Hyundai fault and that I the customer needed to the dealer and take care of it. I thought Hyundai and the dealer were a part of the company, I guess Im wrong. Very disappointed and will never buy a Hyundai again!
Although a 6 speed manual, 2 door car might not be everyones cup of tea, I really like this 3.8 L/350 HP coupe. It runs very easily in traffic and has plenty of capability when given a clear road to play on. I have had no significant complaints in the 42,000 miles I have driven it and Hyundai have covered every little issue that I have had. Warranty and service are great but gas consumption isnt!
The fuel pump on my 2009 Sonata, bought on 5/30/2009, went bad stranding me away from home. Even though car is less than three years old, at 70,000 miles, I was told is was out of warranty. Rental car cost me $120; tow cost me $72; fuel cost me $350; labor cost to install cost $200. Total cost is $772 for a car I am still paying $300 a month on. It needs better design so fuel pump lasts and make access to fuel pump better so whole gas tank doesnt have to be removed. I had an Elantra for eight years then traded up to Sonata. I will not buy another Hyundai after this experience. For a car and brand that touts reliability, this issue (I understand it has happened many times) is unacceptable.
If you like comfortable seats dont buy this car. Cheated out on one of the most important features, the seat. I have the rear camera, touch screen, Bluetooth, etc. but the seats? My 2009 was more comfortable. I will not buy another. Service let me know just now as I am there that Im not the first to complain about seats. I dont believe they will outlast my payments. I had a great experience at the dealer.
You get a lot with the car. My Tucson has a lot of safety features included. I have checked out other cars that those same features are extra. Lane detection, cross traffic detection. Power mirrors, heated seats, power seats, rear view mirror with several features. Power rear Tailgate, with foot activated feature.
I purchased the car late Sept 2015 and as of Feb 2016 have had issues with the idle, shaking at a complete stop and not getting the mileage advertised. I spoke to the dealership and Hyundai corporate and was told that no resolution is available at this time that when a resolution is available they would contact me. Am I just suppose to keep throwing my money away putting gas in this car and making my payments when its not even running appropriately?
I had a rotten experience with service. My brand new vehicle started to rust in the trunk immediately after I bought it. I took it to service. They identified the problem. They tried to correct it and it didnt work. It took so long that by the time they came up with a solution they told me my warranty was up. They just said, Sorry these things happen and in the end I would never endorse anybody to go to Hyundai Canada with this kind of service and product.
My husband bought me the 2012 Hyundai Azera for my 50th birthday. Every year the battery dies. It is going on it 5th battery!! Last year I threw a fit over the same thing every year. They said it is because when I stop the car, forget to put it in park. This did not make any sense because of the fact it dies around the same time each year. They keep it for weeks without a loaner car!! I wrote Hyundai and told them my problem, they were complete no help. I had no problems with my last car. This car has been a complete nightmare. From the service department, all the way up to the Hyundai company. It is in the shop again for another battery!! I will never buy another Hyundai again. Just the worst customer service I have ever seen!!
When shopping around I was looking for a convenience features. Sonata Hybrid 2016 was slightly better than other midsize hybrid alternatives. Looked at all these reviews on Edmunds and similar websites. From their perspective it looks good. After one month of driving (and pretty good experience) main battery broke. Brought it to a dealership. It took already 2 days just to localize the problem. Accordingly to them it will take another 1-2 days to get an answer from Hyundai what needs to be done. This is a car on a warranty. What happens when its out. I feel Im screwed. This is a new car. Just started to pay for it.
I purchased a brand new Sonata, 2.0 Limited edition May 2016. I have 1,032 miles on the car. I was backing out of a parking spot when the power steering failed. It took roadside assistance 2.45 hours to get me and tow my car to the dealership. This happened July 16, 2016. Today is July 26 and the response that I am getting from the service center is that there are major computer problems thats causing the issue and they are working with technicians from Hyundai to get it fixed. They do not know when this will be done. I did some research and saw that there was a recall on the same vehicle prior to the manufacture date of my vehicle. I also experienced an issue with the ABS brakes. When I am stopped in traffic the brake will release and I have to press harder on the brake for the car to stop rolling. Oh, this is also caused by the computer failure. From what I have read thus far on this site, and carcomplaints.com this seems to be a reoccurring...major issue and it appears that Hyundai does not know what or how to fix it. I am very upset about this whole situation right now. Paying for a car that I cant drive. Im concerned that this will continue to be a safety issue and Hyundai has no idea how to repair it. In the middle of dealing with death in the family and having to travel out of town, I was given a loaner, but they did not want me to drive that one out of state (NC), so they gave me a rental. Its a 2016 Hyundai Sonata and would you believe that I have to go trade that car out for another vehicle today because the engine light is on. I contacted Hyundai myself to see if I could get any answers, they said they were unaware of the issue and opened a case. They said they will allow the dealership 3-5 business days to respond and would get back with me. At what point does this become a serious recall issue and we as consumers get this resolved.
On Memorial Day, I purchased a Hyundai Tucson Sport AWD 1.6L Turbo. This is my first time purchasing a Hyundai and I really made the purchase because of the warranty. Now I am having buyers remorse. The vehicle I purchased drives great on the highway, but is not easy to drive in city traffic. I experience a lot of hesitation and jerkiness when pressing on the gas pedal to accelerate from a complete stop. I have complained about this to the dealer and was told I need to get used to the gas pedal because that is the nature of the turbo engine. I have also experienced a lot of static on FM radio stations. The owners manual mentions that static does not mean there is anything wrong with the radio, it is just a poor signal coming to the car due to distance from the tower or perhaps trees or buildings blocking the signal. I have even experienced outages when I tune into XM stations using Sirius. I will get silence for up to three minutes. The dealer told me to bring it in at my convenience and they will check out the radio, but I have a feeling if it does not act up while they have it, they will just re-iterate what the owners manual says. I have never had these issues with any of my previous vehicles, so I think these are design issues with this model. I am not a happy Hyundai owner to say the least.
Very happy with my 10 year old car. Bought this Sonata brand new. 10 years later I still drive it. I have 156,000 miles on it. I change oil according to book, have replaced battery once. Bought new tires twice. Have not had any major problems. Drive great. I bought it because it had a great warranty. The only complaint I have is with Hyundai service department. They are not very good. Once I learned I could take it any mechanics as long as they use Hyundai parts. Thats the way to go.
I leased my 2015 Sonata Sport in Feb of 2016. It had been a service loaner and had almost 5000 miles on it at delivery. After about six months in Aug of 2016 my car would not start and I had to call Hyundai Roadside to jump it. I brought it into the dealer the following week. They tested the battery, said nothing was wrong, and suggested I did something to cause the battery drain. Well, I continued to have the problem and brought the car back to the dealer in Nov of 2016. This time they said the battery was bad and replaced it. Even after replacing the battery, I continued to have the problem and brought the car back to the dealer in Jan of 2017. This time they blamed the problem on the Allstate insurance device I have plugged into the car and they said the battery was bad too. So they replaced the battery for the second time and I had the Allstate device replaced.I continued to have the same problems. I brought the car back to the dealer the following month and they said they could not replicate the issue and found nothing. It seems that my vehicle battery dies when I dont use the vehicle for a period of time – often 1.5 - 2 days, but it has died from sitting unused in as little as 22 hours. Since I continue to have this issue without any real help from the dealer, I contacted Hyundai consumer affairs in April of 2017 and they have been slow to take any action. I did not receive any actionable info from them until 2 weeks after I first called... They called the dealer I had been working with and the dealer told them they thought the issue was the insurance device (even though they found no problems the last time I had the vehicle there, with the device plugged in).So my Hyundai case manager told me they could not do anything until the insurance device was ruled out as a cause. I removed the device and purposefully did not drive the vehicle for a full day and surprise, the car was dead. So I called my case manager at Hyundai and told her what happened and that the device could be ruled out. Now she is checking to see if or when (her words) a Hyundai specialist can look at the car. Hopefully, it wont take another two weeks to find that out. It seems Im not the only person with this issue as a couple other reviews very recently indicate the same problem on the same year/make/model and with even the same time frame the problem began! I guess its time for me to find a lawyer too.
I bought my Accent on 2006: very economy in fuel, keep a regular maintenance and zero problems until now, look same than on 2006. The guarantees was for 10 year. Now they offer change car or new guarantee for 5 years.
I purchased my Accent 2007 brand new off the lot. It is a 5-speed manual shift. I have had extreme brake problems ever since but thats the least of my trouble. Driving to work one night last week, I was moving in traffic and the car just shut off. Luckily, I was able to drift safely to the side of the road I was on. I had to have the car towed to my garage. The next morning, the mechanic called to give me the bad news. My timing belt broke. Okay, I could handle that until he told me the rest... In these cars, when the timing belt breaks, the valves in the motor keep moving and are most likely bent. So I have to pay for the repair and when we try to start it, we will know for sure. I am sick over this. I am on a tight budget and cannot afford a new car at this time. My job is 50 miles one way and I now have no way to get there. Shame on Hyundai for placing such a faulty piece of equipment in their vehicles. I owned a Hyundai Excel years ago and had 200,000 plus miles on it and only ever had to replace a thermostat in it. Had I known how poorly Hyundai is building their cars now, I would have never bought another one. But you can bet that I will never purchase another, nor will anyone in my family. I also work in a big hospital... Thats a lot of potential customers, Hyundai.
My car died. Dead battery before 2 years. Took it to Hyundai. They said I was 5,000 miles over the mileage and would not pay for a new battery. The service department says in a Goodwill request for Sunday to pay for it and they denied it. Ive contacted Hyundai consumer affairs, ask them to please do something about it then call this meeting 2 years old and then the night everything also so he does not take care of their customers.
My Tucson 2017 had a problem with acceleration. The dealership technician inspected the car for and said there is no permanent solution for this problem. Surprisingly they charged $120 for doing nothing on a guaranteed car. And the customer service did not respond to my complaint.
After buying a 2017 Hyundai Sonata Sport in October of 2016, we noticed, at the first washing of the car that the clear coat was marred in several areas. We immediately reported it to the dealer. We took it in, he agreed that it was a defect, and sent us to several different body shops to see if anything could be done. We had it detailed (at our expense) and buffed but the marred finish was still visible. The dealer then advised us to call the manufacturing which we did. After months and months of runarounds from Hyundai Corporation, we are no closer to getting our car fixed. Their case managers dont return our calls when they say they are going to and every time we call them, we have to repeat our story countless times. Today we were informed there was NOTHING they could do. Sorry! We feel like their customer service is very poor and that stall you, hoping you will give up hope and go away. I will never buy a Hyundai again after this experience.
When a company makes a bad product and they put it out to the buyers of their product, but they dont help fix the bad product, they dont care about the families that are driving these defective cars. WHEN YOU DO SOMETHING WRONG, MAKE IT RIGHT! Here is the answer they give: TRADE IN YOUR CAR FOR ANOTHER CHANCE TO GET LUCKY. We are a 7 people family with a defective car that burns 28$ a month on oil, with this as the only car. We were told we need a new engine, due to car that did not pass the oil tests for CAMPAIGN 953. Everything else failed but the engine rod was good, so DENIED. Good Luck with your Hyundai issues. There are so many out there.
On June 13th, I noticed a rattling when I stepped on the gas of my 2008 Hyundai Sonata. By the time I got to my destination, the car was making such a horrible noise; there was no way it could be driven further. I called the Hyundai customer service number to arrange to have the car towed to the dealer and to make sure my warranty would cover the issue. I was assured that I was still covered under the 10 year 10,000 mile warranty. The following morning, the tow truck arrived and took the car to the dealer. Later that day, the dealer called me to inform me that I would need a new engine and that my warranty would not cover it. The engine would be a used one with 71,000 miles on it and would cost $5600 not including labor. Of course, I immediately called Hyundai and was told that I was misinformed the previous day and that I did not have the 100,000 mile warranty because I was the second owner. They assured me that they would cover the tow and the diagnostic charge but they would not cover a new engine. The reason I bought the car and not the Nissan Altima, which is a much nicer vehicle, was for the exceptional Hyundai warranty. I spent the next few hours on the phone with quite a few rude customer service representatives before I reached a supervisor. I stated my issue for the umpteenth time and he once again told me that despite the fact that the car is only four years old, it is not their problem as the warranty is up. So basically, Hyundai is saying that it is acceptable for a four-year old car to have a blown engine and too bad for me. I am a single mother who has recently been unemployed and I am still paying for this car. Suffice it to say that I will never buy another Hyundai again and I will certainly let everyone I know what my experience has been.
My Hyundai Veloster 2012 was burning oil. After an oil change my mechanic noticed this period went in this Sahni Hyundai in Culver City. They are trained to blame me when it turned out to be a defect in the engine. They dont offer a loaners and the service manager is a total jerk. Im gonna need a loaner car or rent and I heard that they dont reimburse you. This is wrong if Hyundai has a defective car.
When you call in to Hyundai there is the normal menu that you select to reach the correct department. I was trying to reach Blue Link and I was put into a phone queue, theres music in the background asking you to hold but there is no indication of how long you have to hold. After an hour and 15 minutes with no answer I hung up and tried calling again making a different selection. Ive been selected Genesis customer service. After about 15 minutes they picked up the line and informed me that Id have to call back to Blue Link and they could not help me reach them. I asked to speak to a supervisor and then found out that if you wanted to speak to a supervisor you could leave your number and they call you back in the next day or two. So I left my number and received no return phone call. I then followed up with an email to customer service and again received no communication back other than acknowledgment of my email. Its now been two weeks, 4 phone calls and three emails later. Not a single phone call for me to go full email response. If you have a Hyundai product need help they arent there, Although I like the car I will not be buying another Genesis in 2018. This is the worst customer experience I have ever had with a major manufacturer.
The 2012 Hyundai Sonata is pretty and stylish inside and out. I bought the Limited Trim with all the bells and whistles. Problems: The steering began to tug to one side while the car was still under bumper-to-bumper warranty. We took the car several times to the dealership and they could not see anything wrong with the vehicle. I was told this behavior was within Hyundais specification and that it was normal for the vehicle. This is the first vehicle that I have owned that has this abnormal normalcy. This problem has not gone away. Vibration. I cannot tell you enough how irritated I have been with this vibration. Once you go over a certain speed (Im not sure at the moment, but Im not talking of highway speed - just normal in-town speed), the car begins to vibrate. Ive gone to the dealership over and over and over. I am tired and angry that a brand new 2012 car will behave this way and the people at the dealership cant figure out what the seems to be the problem. Not too long ago, my wife and I noticed that when turning the vehicle made a certain noise as if something was about to break, as if some metal was hitting another metal. The dealership said it was a steering column problem and we had to pay out of pocket to fix it since we have put over 60,000 miles on the car. The car has gone out of bumper-to-bumper warranty. The lingering problems (listed above), I have to fix out of pocket. It will take a lot, a whole lot, for me to buy a Hyundai vehicle ever again. I loved the roominess and stylishness of the Sonata, but it seems that those are about all it has. I am very disappointed in this vehicle to say the least. My 2009 Chrysler 300C never gave me these troubles.
I paid extra for a paint and protection warranty 2 1/2 years ago (5 year plan) cost $295.00, for my Hyundai Elantra. I took my car in Sept. 13, 2014 on a Saturday, specifically to get my interior cleaned. I left my car there and came home. Four Hours later I was called and told they could not do the interior as they had no one to do this. Also the service advisor Pedro ** in charge told me this was the first time he heard of this warranty. And was told I had to come back during the week. I told him I couldnt as I work and they should have told me this hours ago or better yet the time I made the appt.. Well the service advisor Pedro ** stated they would do the cleaning. Well when I got my car back the seats were wet in spots, and when they dried none of the stains were gone. I have not called them back but I will and let them know how disappointed I am as I have paid for this service, and no one was honoring it. This will probably go on deaf ears but maybe it will stop someone else from giving the car dealership more money for service they dont follow up on.
The paint is peeling of my 2009 Sonata. The dealer said that there is a 36,000-mile warranty on paint. This car has never even been through a car wash and has had excellent care. How can the paint be coming off of a new car and the dealer will not repair the damage?
Last night on 1-20-12 at 2330, I crashed on ice. The front end slammed into a metal pole that holds up the street lights. The impact was dead center of the front of car, which is where the front driver airbag sensor is. My airbag did not deploy. I own a 2010 Hyundai Accent.
I went to the shop for check up on a problem for car not running. They made diagnostic and said it was something with the sensor of the gasoline injection. So I told them to go ahead and repair and they did charging almost $300.00. I went to pick it up and after I got out of the dealer, I started feeling the car with same problem. So I went back to them, this time they said, “Ok, it is weekend and we will check and will call you back.” When they called me back, they said now that it was the transmission and that I need a new one. I was never advised for any problem with transmission even when I use to take the car for service with them and I used to go for any problems with the car to this dealer. I asked them for reimbursement for the false diagnostic and they said they will not return any money. My car has been in the garage since then because I do not have money to repair the transmission. I feel like I was robbed because I paid for anything.
I complained that the tail lights were repeatedly blowing. To fix the lights on one side, I was told water was leaking into the housing because the car had been hit. The sonata has never been hit. I was told the housing had melted from being burned on the other side. The Santa Fe, the clicker has never worked telling me they have to replace the horn.
I bought 2 Hyundais in the past 5 years and every time I go to the dealer to fix a problem, they say, Yes it is not working properly, but it still works enough to not replace. This goes for the shocks that wont lift the hatch back up, and the AC that makes a loud clunk sound EVERY time I turn off the car. Dont believe the warranty because they will delay you until the warranty runs out. Tired of their lies!
I noticed yesterday for the first time in my 2012 Elantra Touring, a wet/damp area at the top of the passenger side windshield strut where the plastic strut cover meets the fabric of the roof. It is not coming from the door seal, it is dry by the door seal?
I have a 2013 Hyundai Sonata that I purchased brand new in December 2012. It just hit 36,000 miles. I am having a serious concern about the rust and corrosion under the hood of the car meaning all of the metal clamps and motor mount are rusted, also the strut bolts are corroded. The metal on the power steering hose is rusted, the undercarriage is rusted at the weld points. I have had the car back to the Hyundai dealer three times now. Each time they have stated that they have sent pictures to the regional manager. I did speak with the regional manager recently and he said that he never received any pictures so I dropped the car off again to have pictures taken. This made the 3rd time that it had been dropped off. I am hoping for a positive result. The tech stated that this was not normal and ask if my car was at the shore points a lot. I dont live near the shore.
Bought a brand new 2017 Hyundai Tucson eco, I only had it for a few months and its been in the shop more than I have been driving it. All types of problems with the electrical, it is at the shop at the moment I am typing this while mechanics are scratching their heads to figure out what is wrong with it and how to fix it. I called Hyundai corporate they said they would return my call, You think they did. What a joke. They have no concerns about the safety issues with this car even though I tell them that the windshield wipers stick two to three inches from take off on the windshield. AC sounds like Gremlins are about to attack you coming from the vents. Transmission drives and shifts like somebody that does not know how to drive a stick shift when this is an automatic vehicle. Gas gauge sticks even though its full and you cant put any more in it. The gas gauge will read from a half tank to 3/4 of a tank full until you hit a bump. Including with the issues the dash lights dim and brighten by themself. This car should have yellow lemons painted all over it along with every car that Hyundai puts out especially since corporate is treating their customers this way, not a very good ethic on gaining your customers Trust or to get repeat customers. I really dont understand how this company is in business. I guess thats why our government had to do a bail out on their **. My experience alone it has been a real shady experience.
There is a recall for the passenger airbag seat sensor not detecting correctly in the 2008 Hyundai Sonata, except for my VIN. I have the same problem as described in the recall. The windshield has a dip in it which makes it hard to see during a rain, since the wiper does not work well in that area.
I went in to take my 2011 Hyundai Sonata in for my lifetime warranty oil change at 7,500 miles. When I picked my car up, Thompson Hyundai charged me $25.96. They said they rotated my tires, which had to be done in order to keep receiving the warranty and the oil change was free.I feel as though they charged me for the oil change. I am very unsatisfied with Hyundai. I feel that every time I take it in for an oil change, they are going to charge me for something else due to the customer having to follow, at a minimum, the factory maintenance guide in order to receive my warranty.I own two Lincoln vehicles that get free lifetime oil changes. When I take these cars in, they change the oil, rotate the tires, and wash the car; all for free. I understand when the car starts getting older and the mileage starts increasing that they are going to be charging me for certain maintenance services. But I feel as though they are ripping people off and they are not giving free oil changes as they said they were. I contacted three people at Hyundai about this issue and they keep telling me that this is their policy.
My father owned a 2013 Hyundai Elantra. Previously the car had shown multiple failures such as the steering unexpectedly locking or brakes making loud obnoxious sounds. A few days ago my sister and mother had gotten into a car accident. The car had went airborne and went head first and hit a curb. The car is currently totaled and my mother had multiple injuries. The airbags had not opened during the process. This is outrageous and we would seriously like to have this problem solved. Luckily no one was in critical condition, but still this should never happen.
I will never lease or buy another Hyundai again. The dealership in Kirkland, WA where I leased it was bad enough but the way the finance company has treated me is horrible. They are charging me for excess wear and tear which is ridiculous. I had an auto shop look at it who said it was all normal wear and tear. DO NOT PURCHASE OR LEASE A HYUNDAI.
In July, our car broke down in Georgia. We live in New Jersey. We had Roadside Assistance bring it to the nearest dealership. The dealership told us it was our transmission but the car was still under warranty. It took five days to get a rebuilt transmission and put it in. In the meantime, we were stuck in Georgia. I was told to send originals of my expenses to Roadside Assistance. It cost me over $700.00 for hotel, rental car and food for five days. They only reimbursed me $300.00, which they said was the max amount. So why bother telling people to send in the receipts for hotel, food and car rental? While we were driving home, we heard a rattling noise that wasnt there before. I called Global Hyundai in Plainfield when we got home and explained the situation. They said they would have to charge us to diagnose the car because they hadnt done the original repair. I called Hyundai Corp. and they said that wasnt right, to have Global call them, but before we had a chance, the trans went again. I had it towed to Global and they they said they fixed the problem. They wouldnt address the rattling noise unless I paid for it because they said it had nothing to do with the trans. I dont know how they knew this since they never diagnosed the problem. We have had the car back one week and the trans went again. They said we need to upgrade the trans and that we would have to pay for it. I called Hyundai Corp. again and they said the trans computer should have been updated when they replaced the trans in Georgia and that they would call Global to tell them to fix it at no cost to us. This has been a horrible experience and I would never buy another Hyundai again or any car for that matter from Global Auto Mall in Plainfield, NJ.
I purchased a 2013 Hyundai Veloster in September 2013. I was activated shortly after for a 3 year tour with a Unit that deploys to overseas locations to provide realistic Ground-to-Air Threat Simulation training for pilots. I submitted my orders to Hyundai Motor Finance and asked for benefits under the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act and was told that I did not qualify because a website that they reference, with known issues, did not show that I was activated. This website only covers Title 10 and Title 14, it does not cover Title 32, which is entitled to SCRA benefits with the appropriate caveats. Every other banking institution I have requested this from had absolutely no issues with supporting me, but Hyundai Motor Finance obviously does. I have called them and faxed documents to various POCs and still I receive a letter in the mail that states According to our records, you do not qualify for benefits under SCRA. I am a 17 year veteran who has deployed in support of multiple operations and THEY say I do not qualify because they want more money. I will be posting this everywhere I can, so that other military members do not make the same mistake I did. MILITARY SERVICEMEN/WOMEN BEWARE!!!!!
I brought my 2008 Sonata in 2009 from Carmax in MD, one previous owner and low mileage. When I took it to my mechanic (Sams Auto Repair), they say it was a cam sensor problem then said it was 2 quarts low on oil. The engine light came back on after driving 10 miles and noise got worse, so I towed it to a Hyundai dealership. They said that the engine had noise from the bottom and top due to it not getting enough oil. They will charge me $5,500 for a rebuilt engine and install it. They said that the possibility of a defective engine was moot because I didnt have documented receipts for my oil changes.
Hyundai Palisade vehicles (2020-21) have a defect with a windshield causing them to crack from minimal impact and sometimes no impact at all. There are many reports of this all over the web. Hyundai however is refusing any assistance to consumers and denying that there is any issue at all. My windshield cracked and had to be replaced when the car had just 500 and it didnt even get hit. It was a detail shop getting cleaned, etc.. Hyundai should step and start taking responsibility plus reimbursing owners who already needed to have their windshields replaced and also offer free replacements for OEM glass going forward for many reasons:1. Hyundai and Kia are related companies. Palisade and Telluride are related vehicles. Telluride has exactly same complaints regarding the windshield and Kia sent letters to all the owners saying this issue is being looked into and in the meantime offering free replacement and/or reimbursement if the windshield has to be replaced. Why isnt Hyundai doing the same?2. Almost every single complaint on the NHTSA website is about the windshield. There are over 85. This is not a coincidence! See: **3. I am sure you are also aware that there is a class action lawsuit about this same windshield issue. Again not a coincidence. There is a reason why there is a lawsuit.Hyundai should do the RIGHT thing just like KIA is doing and reimburse owners for windshield replacements especially when they are cracking WITHOUT even being hit by anything. That is a defect in your product!
I had no idea what to expect when I bought my 2006 Sonata. It turned out to be a great car. We had the V6 Limited but no sunroof or top of the line radio. MPG was as high as 24.8 because we did highway miles. Repairs were few and infrequent. We did regular fluid changes as recommended by the dealer; but as far as repairs, we did very few. Need ceramic brake pads at 90,000. We did the plugs finally at 120,000, but I think they would have gone to 150,000 without a problem since they were iridium. Also had a pulley go bad. Finally, had to also do struts and shocks and also had to do tires of course from time to time. I’m very pleased over all. Only annoying thing that happened was replacing the third brake light. Whoever designed the access to this bulb needs to be re-educated LOL. I finally sold it at 150,000 miles, but I really think it would have gone 250,000 for sure.
I lease cars every three years, so Ive had many cars throughout my lifetime. Ive never written a bad review about a car or car company until now. I just turned my 2014 Sonata in early (40,000 miles) and decided to pay off the lease/lose a lot of money because I was scared for my safety. My heating and cooling unit had to be replaced, the shifter had to be replaced because it was making my car stall, the wheel wells tore off because they were made out of cardboard, the clasps on the armrest broke because they were made of cheap plastic, and the back seat material pulled apart because they only sewed part of the seats. Then there was the recent recall for the engine and seat belts at the same time. The seat belts were installed incorrectly and the engine had an issue where it could stall spontaneously while driving. The quality control for this company is ridiculous. Then the last time I took my car in to be repaired I started getting messages and flyers, within a week, from Hyundai about the car I own (I didnt own the car) and how I should extend my warranty. This has led to random warranty companies calling about extending the warranty to now receiving multiple calls a day from credit card scammers. This never happened before I had my car repaired as Im very careful about who gets my number. Clearly my number was given out by Hyundai and now its in the wrong hands. I am beyond disgusted with this company.
I got a flat on my new 2015 Sonata Hybrid. Called roadside assistance and they told me I had to have it towed to the nearest Dealership. I thought it had something to do with it being a Hybrid but it turns out that the cars dont have spares, they have inflation kits. Going to the dealer is normally not a problem but it was SUNDAY!!!!!! I told the person at Roadside that but it didnt seem to faze her. The nearest dealership was my only option. So now my car is stuck there overnight and I miss a days work because I work 35 miles away. If they brought me home I could have had it fixed. If they brought me to Pep Boys or any tire place I could have had it fixed. They need to get their heads out of their butts over there. Ill be getting AAA to avoid the expense of Free Roadside Assistance.
We just purchased a 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy trim in Sep 21 because we loved that it had everything we were looking for in regards to safety, technology, and design. We paid $45k for it along with about $1,000 in fees and travel to pick it up. We were quite excited as this was our first brand new vehicle. 2 months into it, the transmission went bad and we brought it to Hyundai to find out whats going on as it was under warranty. Heres where things went further south.Hyundai cant get parts to fix their brand new cars...and on top of that, why would a transmission already be bad? It has sat on their lot since Nov 30th, 2021. Last week we just got an offer to buy back the vehicle for more than 4k less than what we just bought it for and drove it for two months. They stated that our state allows for depreciation in Missouri for lemon laws and they cant help us, it is what it is. During this time, cars have gone up because dealers are now charging a mark up fee, so although they can claim depreciation, we cant claim appreciation on the car. So to get the same exact car we just bought, we now will have to pay 4-8k more for equivalent. Its horrible. And just for a buyer beware situation, Hyundai will no longer replace your car with an equivalent one substitution for collateral equity. They stopped replacing them with like cars because theyre manufacturing so few that anything they make has to go to dealers to get top value for them.Point being for this review is that although Hyundai makes a great car much of the time, if you have any problems at all, there are concerns of finding parts for repairs, and if its unrepairable, plan on a huge deduction for a buyback. Good luck out there from a very unhappy customer who just lost 4-8k on a brand new vehicle, and now I have to go find a replacement on my own.
Since purchasing a used 2011 sonata I have dealt with a few recalls. One for metal debris may not have been fully removed from the crankshaft area during manufacturing causing knocking noise. My Sonata sounds like dozens of marbles flying around in the engine yet it was given a clean bill of health on this recall. They did however recommend replacing my front brakes prior to me leaving but I declined since I just got new tires and already knew I had quite some time left on the brakes. By the way it was 18 months before needing the front brakes. Totally bad reflection on the dealer service manager at Suntrup Hyundai in st. louis.Second recall was for powertrain -- the transmission shift cable may detach from the shift lever pin. This happened to me at a supermarket only I had no idea about the recall. Tried to start car but it would not turn over at all. I noticed the dash board showed the car in Drive but it was in park. That seemed strange. Got a tow truck to take car to dealer after trying to jump it. Dealer called and told me it needed a new battery which I could not believe since the tow truck tried to jump it and failed. So, I went ahead and replaced the battery and When I picked the car up the dealer told me they also fixed a recall with the transmission cable shift lever pin. I pointed out that was what happened to me at the supermarket. Car showed it was in drive but it was really in park and it would not start. They basically lied and replaced the battery that did not need replacing and it was the recall all along that caused the car not to start. Once again this is a dealer service manager problem. Clearly a big problem with Suntrup Hyundai in St Louis.Third was today. MDPS ECU replacement. Electric Power assist causes power steering to go out without notice. They fixed mine today but informed me that I needed a Steering coupler which would cost 350.00. I told Tim that nothing about the steering was broke so why would I need to do that. I left but as soon as I started the car and pulled out, I had to go back into the service counter. I told Tim the steering was screwed up bad. He said that he already explained to me that it was a separate issue and the computer was just compensating for the loose steering. How about that it was fine when I brought it in for the recall and it was given back to me broken. The steering is so loose that you can blow on it to make it turn. It must be twice as dangerous now as before. So unbelievable of a story that it seems made up.
I am very disappointed with Hyundai. I purchased a 2015 Sonata sport on September 28 and 17 days later I went thru the car wash and the shark fin came off during the wash and it broke into pieces. I called the dealership and they quoted some ridiculous price for a plastic cover, I couldnt believe it, so next I called Hyundai corporate office to see if it was cover by warranty and was told no and they were sorry to hear about my misfortune and I am simply furious and sad at the same time because the refused to accommodate me in any way with a simple matter after not even having the care for a month. I see that they dont stand by their product and dont care about their customers satisfaction. I would hate to see what happens if I have a major problem. I am sure that that computer board underneath isnt supposed to be exposed but Hyundai could care less I see. So next I guess itll get ruined. I cant believe Hyundai would be so unconcerned and inconsiderate of its customers. I am also sure the fin should just come off in a car wash so it had to be defective before. I will tell all my family and friends that Hyundai is not a honorable company and it does not care for its customers and does not stand by their products. I should have known better when I read the articles about the car fires and they didnt take care of the people in that situation. I dont know why I expected them to give a crap about my issue. I have an appointment with south town Hyundai tomorrow. I dont know why or if I should even keep the appointment because I cant afford their prices. I was so excited about my new car and I actually love it, however this disappointment I have for Hyundai I have right now makes me never again buy or trust Hyundai. Live, learn and research before you buy. DONT BUY HYUNDAI!!!
I too have had trouble with my airbag light on my 2005 XG350 since it was new. The service records show this. Now that the warranty has expired, the dealer technician told me to bring it in for reset since I have had history of having it reset and also new bags installed. However, this service shop is all the way across town and I live approximately 45 miles away. I have decided to just let it burn out. More of a hassle to get it fixed. By the way, I now have trouble with my seat belt not retracting. It is fully extended all the time. I just hope I dont get into any severe accident whereby I will need it. Lord help!
I experienced the rear window molding coming off of my 2005 Hyundai Sonata about 2 years ago. We took the car to the dealership and were told the cost would be $400 per window to install new molding. This is the flimsy silver molding set at the top of the windows. Forget it. I was not about to pay that amount of money for the install. It has been sometime and my husband and myself have noticed that all 2005 Sonatas we come across in our geographical area have the rear window molding missing. I phoned Hyundai Consumer Affairs today to see what stance Hyundai would take on this issue. Sorry, your car is no longer under warranty. Hey, guess what, according to the Hyundai dealership, Earnhardt, it wasnt covered under the warranty anyways. It was cosmetic.Like some of you, I have owned several Hyundais and have recommended people to purchase the vehicle. If Hyundai will not take ownership of the poor workmanship on this year/make for this issue, I will turn on a dime. Not only will I never buy a Hyundai again, I will make sure everyone I know does not either. Hyundai has come a long way since my first Elantra in 1991 and I would hate to see them fall on their faces due to new glue, new molding, bad line employee or what have you that caused this overwhelming mistake. Please, Hyundai, own up.
I built a 2017 Hyundai Tucson 2.0 SE AWD online and I got the quote $331.11 a month. Now, when I physically visited one of your Hyundai branches, I got a different monthly payment for the exact same vehicle. The monthly payment is $421.66 a month!!! I accepted winter package ($1600 value) to be added to the car original price. However, I dont think this will have a difference of almost a $90 a month for 24 months! How come this is happening? Why is that difference for? Can you explain.
I have had a warranty claim submitted since my car was new (3 years ago). I have had the car in to service this claim 4 times and the last time (today), they made the problem worse, not better. They appear to never intend to repair the problem. This is a smaller issue with the near-criminal salesmanship I experienced when I bought the car. Please suggest on how I can repair my problem when they appear to not honor the warranty. Thanks.
On Oct 24th 2018 I activated my Blue Link via a dealer. I was given 3 months test of the system on my 2014 Equus. The next day I tried to use the system but it was not active. I called the service and told me 24 to 48 hours to get to my system. After the 48 hour mark the system still not activated. I called again on the 25th then the 26th still not activated. I was instructed to drive around to see of it would help, but nothing. When I called again on the 27th they apologized for the inconvenience but nothing they could do till a day or more passed. Upon calling on the 28th still not activated. Called again on the 29th and they apologized and gave me an extra month free to try the service. I was told it should be up any time. By end of day on the 29th still not working. On the 30th of Oct, I was told my service could not be started till the previous owner service was deactivated as I was told it was not fully deactivated in their name. They would need to deactivate my account and the original owners account before my service could work. After an hour on the line I was told they would call within 2 hours to let me know it was complete and my service turned on. I called after 3 hours and was told my account was cancelled and would need to be charged 279.00 to turn it on as I cancelled my trial. I was livid as I explained that the tech cancelled my service not me, and I wanted my service trial back because it was never turned on. Going back and forth they told me nothing could be done and we went around for an hour plus. No matter what I told them I would not get my service trial back. They directed me to call another number to complain, when calling the other number was told it was not a complaint line but another Blue Link center. I was lied to and cheated out of my service trial and fully pissed off they did this to me. Ive never been treated so badly by a company in my 50 years of life on this planet. Being lied to, is appalling by anyone. This company could care less about customer service. I was never disrespectful toward anyone on the phone, just in case you wondered. I was upset but not overly. I was so upset and confused by their actions. They never offered me a solution. Horrible in my eyes.
I was really excited to buy my first Hybrid. I have long commutes to work and wanted a car that could save me gas mileage. This car is a 2018, at the time of this writing it is now 2021 (4 years old!). In the time that I have bought it, the car died twice on the highway commuting to or from work. The first time it died there was no check engine light warning to indicate any kind of prevention to get the car looked at. I was just driving home and then a big yellow icon popped up. I was able to coast my car off the road and turn it off. I waited a bit and then turned my car back on. I was able to safely finish driving home before calling the service department at the Hyundai dealer in my area to take a look at it. After they finished and I paid for their services, no satisfactory answer was given for why it died or what could be done to prevent it. Just something about some kind of water hose being replaced??The second time my car died was this past Nov 1st. The day before I heard noises coming from my car but I couldnt be certain. Again no check engine light or anything. So as I drove to work again on the highway all of the sudden a check engine light comes on and my car dies. I barely make it to the side of the road again with smoke coming out. I called AAA to tow my car to the Hyundai dealer. They wont be able to look at it until mid December. All the local Hyundai dealers were booked. I took it to an auto repair shop to run diagnostics and was told my engine had seized. I would need to replace the engine. This car is only 4 years old, I cant believe it. Right now once I get my car in the shop, I am praying the manufacturer will cover replacement of the engine which I was quoted costs $10k! My remaining car loan is more than that. Come next year, whether replaced engine or dead car Im selling my losses and chucking it. Hence, my presence on ConsumerAffairs. Looking for a better reliable car. (Sigh) Hopefully I can warn others. Its comforting to see my experience is not unique to me.
This is a Lexus equivalent for half the cost. Among the best cars I have owned. I have the R-Spec which is laser fast and totally upscale. Mechanically flawless to date. Drives like a dream. Fit and finish are superb. Dealer support excellent.
I own a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. I can promise you I will never own a Hyundai again. My car has been at the shop 3 1/2 months none of the recalls have been checked. The car still cuts itself off. Hyundai keeps calling and telling me that they fix the issue only for me to go test drive the car and it still Loses power. They keep telling me it’s one thing charging me an arm and a leg And the car continues to lose power. First they told me the engine needed to be cleaned charge me $350. Test drove it still losing power. Then they tell me it’s coil pack number 3 charge me $280 to remove one bolt. Needless to say that still didnt fix the issue. Then they tell me it’s coil pack number 4. Another $280. Guess what the issue still isn’t fixed. They refused to fix my car And want to charge me $910 before they release my car to me. None of the things they told me was wrong with the car fixed the issue. I’ve missed over 30 days of work because we are down to one car. Nearly $4000 between missed work and repairs that never needed to be done. Hyundai is putting me and my family at danger along with other families with their vehicle. I’m guessing until someone gets seriously hurt or dies it’s not their problem.
While driving on 5 Freeway in California my 2014 Hyundai Elantra started to violently shake like someone hitting the brake. I threw it in neutral and help my wife turn the steering wheel because we lost power steering. We got lucky and had a space to coast to the side of the road. When we got towed to Tuttle-Click in Irvine, CA and our car turned into the Service department. They basically said we are on our own to find a ride back home and no loaner car. Two days later I have to call them to find out the problem. First a technician said that it was a bad battery but that would not have caused it to completely shut down. Then a few hours later the Service Manager calls to say it was the battery and that is what caused it to shut down on us. I dont know who to believe but my wife doesnt want to ever drive or ride in it again. I have filed a complaint with Hyundai Corporate but dont know what they can do. I guess time will tell.
I really enjoyed our Hyundai Sonata 2006.... We had the usual problems/recall issue with the airbags in 2013... At about 45,000 to 50,000 miles... many electrical problems. Apparently at some point without being disclosed to us when we bought it, our vehicle was a rental. At some point liquid was spilled into the console which caused electrical damage to the car under the front dashboard (car would not start - no crank - damage to body control module), so the dealership said. We didnt spill anything and this didnt happen till 5 months after we bought it. Either corrosion takes that long or there was something else going on. Never saw this supposed damage. Cost: $500.Shortly after that repair (16 days)... the drivers door would only unlock, internal BCM problems again. Go figure... no charge to repair. At 50,000 miles (Sept 2008) the Check Engine light would come on, cruise control inop., ESC and ABS light on. Cause: code c1513 brake switch failure (just read today that at some point that was a recall - had no idea - 1-9-14 so decided to share my story with others). They replaced the switch. N/C, but for some reason I noticed they did charge for 2 brake lights and labor $65. Most likely they were fine and it was the switch.Other issues.... sure seemed like the rotors/calibers rusted really fast and we changed all 4 brakes/rotors/pads etc. every year!!! Had none of these issues with our older Ford Taurus. No engine issues with the Sonata... just electrical and constant brake replacing.
I purchased two years ago a 2011 Hyundai Sonata Limited certified used from a local Hyundai dealership in Waterloo iowa. At the time had done it to replaced another Sonata that had electrical issues. Last September I was made aware via the Internet that my car had a major recall with the motor. At the time, I thought about trading the car in, but no dealership would touch the car because had a knocking noise which lower value of the car. So fast forward today, I eventually had the engine replace. When I picked up my car the dealership they not only replaced the engine but done the recalled for the brake stopper pad. Soon after my current nightmare started. The motor sound like it was whistling sound every time I drove it. At first I thought it was because it was braking in so I didnt let it worry me. Then a few months later it stop this when the knocking sound came back. Also car didnt want to shift right and one time it would not start at all. Last straw was the check engine light came on and stay on. I had taken the car into a local repair shop who put it on the computer. This is when he informed me that three of the four valves were gone. That should not happen if a complete engine was replaced. So I contact Hyundai to informed them that my engine was gone again and they need to buy back this piece of junk. They took their sweet you known what time to respond to my request or even find another solution to my problem. They cant be trusted. I should mention, on September 27 about 400 pm CST I almost in serious car accident with this piece of junk. As I pulled into the parking lot of daughters dance studio, I had applied my brakes. Was putting the car into park, when the car suddenly speed up and jump the curb coming within inches hitting the building. I was completely in shock when it happen. So, asked if she seen me put my foot brake on the brake. She told me yes.So right away I called Hyundai about this event and got told have my car tow to a local Hyundai dealership which would had been the one who had done the original recall work. I done it as told and when I did not hear back from Hyundai or the dealership where the car was tow to, I got a big song and dance from them that it went to some regional Manager I should hear back soon. As of yesterday did not hear back from them, so I had my car tow outed the dealerships parking lot and sent to another reliable automotive repair shop to have the car inspect for engine damage and the brakes fix.I was lucky I had not been killed driving this piece of junk. I am now 10,000 dollars under water with this car, and cant even drive it. My advice to all who are thinking about buying a certified used Hyundai Sonatas or any other hyundai product that matter is dont. You will get burn and hurt. Take it from me. They make a beautiful product for great value, but being cheap is the being not worth at the end.
My 2017 Hyundai Elantra is not the worst but a long way from the best in its class. Performance is pretty good. Theres a lot of road noise that makes its way into the cabin and its been thru 2 batteries for some reason.
We traded in my Hyundai Tucson for two new 2008 Sonatas in 2008. We are not happy at all with the quality of the cars. After going in 2010 for an oil change the dealer told me I needed 4 new tires. He insulted me by saying that I must drive like a maniac. We didnt trust that every time we went for an oil change or maintenance they seemed to find something else wrong. They asked us for a second chance to service our cars. So on 12/14/11 we went with hesitation for oil changes. For the past year we were taking our cars to Meineke for maintenance since they guarantee their work and are a lot cheaper. Never fail, this time they claimed I needed 2 new tires, and hubbys car needed new brakes at $1159.00. We told them to just do the oil changes. After we picked up our cars my husband’s car just broke down after 3 blocks. We called them and got it towed back to the dealer which I thought was covered, but turns out it was our expense also. They claim it was the fuel pump. We had no choice but to let them fix it or tow it somewhere else. They still got us for $750.00. We wonder if they shorted something because we werent going to let them do the brakes for $1159.00. As of today 12/26/11 we still owe 2 more years payments and are very worried what else is going to happen to these cheap quality vehicles. We have dealt with Chevrolet and Toyota and never had a problem with the quality or felt like we were being ripped off royally. Hyundai constantly sends us offers to trade in our cars and we were seriously thinking about it. Now we just wish we could give the cars back and go somewhere else. We cant believe this is happening before we even have them paid off. We wish we could use the lemon law to help us. We will tell anyone who asks not to buy a Hyundai. Buying a Hyundai is like going to the 99 cent store for cars. You get what you pay for.
Worst experience of my life. I bought a 2017 Veloster, drove it off the lot with 6 miles. Within a year I’ve had my power steering column replaced, the motor for my sunroof and my MOTOR BLEW AT 28K MILES! If you have any work done to your car, expect not to hear anything for 3 weeks and them keeping your car for 2 months! The techs there take everything as a joke, and laugh about how many problems you have with their cars. One of the techs even stated if we told you how bad they are, how would we sell them? I took my car there the month before complaining that it was driving weird, they never even test drove it and stated everything was perfect yet a month later I was left stranded on the road, yet again. Please whatever you do, stay far away from the Tampa Location and Hyundai ALL TOGETHER!!! Worse choice I ever made, I regret buying that car!!!
Hyundai has sold cars knowingly and not disclosing a defective paint issue. These cars have paint that actually peels right off the body of the car. When Hyundai is contacted they want to pass it off as weather. They know that this defect occurred during the painting process. Please join me in a class action lawsuit forcing Hyundai to recall and be fully responsible for this defect. Please contact the Attorney General in your state and file a complaint. Thank you.
I purchased a 2012 Tucson on 10/3/15 (yes just last week). I had the car NO JOKE 4 HOURS and the car began stalling out. The dealership came to pick it up that day, 4 hours after bringing it home. They have had it since. They still have no idea what is wrong with my car and I am getting the runaround. I bought it from a Chevy Dealer, did a trade in on my 2011 Chevy Cruze, which was mechanically sound/perfect. Now, the dealership tells me they had to send it to a Hyundai Dealership for further review. HELLO my father has been a mechanic for 20 years. A GM Mechanic (he lived in another state or I would have him fix it). He knew exactly what was wrong - electrical/computer issue. Once the car reaches a certain temperature the car shuts down. I relay this to the dealership and they treat me like I have no clue. Come to find out after them spending 4 long days on it, its a computer/electrical issue. I cannot believe I am going through this with a new purchase. I am stressed, pissed and paying for a car I cannot even drive/let alone have for more then 4 hours. Lastly, today I found out that there is a recall on this car. I told them I dont want this car anymore. I do not feel safe and to put me in something else. They flat out told me no because they will fix my car. Oh yeah fix my car? WHEN! I am still waiting.
Bought a 2019 new Ioniq last month. On day 2 of owning it, after first opening the hatch, noticed banging, rattling noise from hatch going over bumps. Selling dealership would not take the car back, only advised to take it to a service center. I did that 3 times to no avail. Problem is same. Opened case with Hyundai corporate, they denied request for buyback. Furthermore, they told service dept not to spend any more on fixing this. So there I sit with a horribly noisy new car and no resolution. This is not a normal road noise. Its so annoying I dont want to drive the car. Hyundai has failed me in so many ways, I would never buy another. I now have to either live with a lemon, or take a huge loss on trading it in.
I am an owner of a Fluidic Verna CRDI. I delivered it from SS Hyundai, Mavelikkara two months before. After one month, my a/c pipe got bent and holed resulting on the complete gas drain out. Even after at the time of service, the service center was not ready to replace the a/c pipe. They were asking Rs7000/- for replacement. Also, extreme black smoke is coming from the exhaust itself. What should I do?
For the price point of this vehicle I expected not to hear anything inside. But it seems as I go 40mph and above I hear air as if the window is cracked open. Hyundai says its road noise but I know the difference. Its a lot quieter in my wifes Juke than in the Palisade. I think the door is to light weight so air noise seeps through. Hopefully Hyundai will find a fix for this. Its probably the only reason so far I would not keep this vehicle.
I will start with I love my car, it’s a beautiful blue, fits my family well and it is a delight to drive, when it worked, but I am saddened by how my newer vehicle had a catastrophic failure with all warnings and bells that are supposed to come in play, not work and leave my young child and I sit on the side of the road on a hot day, and then get the run around between corporate and the dealership. I am an essential worker and I must get to work and get my child to and from care daily. I am being told my car is listed as a rental car, um, we bought this car from a dealer for our family car. I work at an accounting firm, this car is not a rental. It gets my little family to and from point A to point B, so someone needs to correct this paperwork error which we have been asking for. Second, I am being told that my vehicle’s warranty doesn’t move to the second owner yet. On our purchase paperwork it states in 1 place that we have the factory warranty with the purchase and in a second place it states in very large font, WARRANTY INCLUDED, the dealer will pay 100% of the labor and 100% of the parts for the balance of the factory warranty of 10 years or 100k miles. We had the vehicle towed to the dealer per what the engineer at corporate advised my husband to do. It has been a week and we are getting the run around on if anything will be fixed and if we can even get a loaner car. We work overlapping times on the other sides of the county and cannot possibly share a vehicle. Unable to find rides every day, one of us had to miss multiple days of work dealing with this. My car is a 4 year old Hyundai Tucson that is equipped to warn you if you have low tire pressure, a door is ajar, oil is low and so on and so on. Somehow, no warning at all, and very on time oil changes, my car made an odd noise going up a hill, and then it died. The engine seized. How can something like that happen on a 4 year old car, less than 100k miles and none of its warnings throwing red flags and there wasn’t any codes either. Did I mention my husband is a mechanic. This is not normal and I don’t understand why we are getting the run around between the dealer and corporate. A loaner car should have been approved immediately along with the warranty work. I want to be able to continue enjoying my car that I’m still paying for. :(
I own auto repair shop. Also I have a dealer license, I purchase a 2016 Hyundai Accent @ auction with 25000 miles, car runs beautiful, but we notice some weird noise when we put it in reverse. So we took it to this dealership (PRIDE HYUNDAI LYNN, MA). Long story short need a new tranny, dealership and this car company refuse to replace it because they said car was involve in an accident. Car is clean title, CLEAN CARFAX or CRASH REPORT, this F... people dont even know how a car runs. They only base everything according what a book said, STAY AWAY FROM HYUNDAI!!! THE FAMOUS 10 YEAR/100000 MILES FACTORY is a complete crap. Stay away from Hyundai!!!! For your own good.
