2025 Hyundai Tucson
Find big savings on Hyundai Automobile(s) at Auto Helpers. Low Prices.
The 2025 Hyundai Tucson delivers an excellent combination of sharp styling, fuel efficiency, and smart practicality in a compact SUV package.
Powertrain options include a turbocharged 1.6‑L hybrid (combined output around 226 hp) paired with a 6‑speed automatic and available AWD, and a plug‑in hybrid version producing about 261 hp via an e‑CVT with AWD capability as standard. The base gasoline variant—a 2.5‑liter inline‑4 making roughly 187 hp—remains available on lower trims with front‑wheel drive.
Fuel efficiency is a highlight—approximately 37 mpg combined for the hybrid, and up to 80 MPGe for the plug‑in hybrid when combining electric and gas operation. EV‑only range for the plug‑in hybrid model is estimated at around 30–33 miles.
Acceleration feels responsive in hybrid models. The PHEV hits 0–60 mph in around 6.0 seconds. The conventional hybrid completes that sprint in roughly 7.2 seconds, while the gas‑only model takes about 8.0 seconds.
Interior space has been optimized in the refreshed Tucson. Rear legroom is generous at about 39.5 inches, and cargo space measures around 30 cu ft behind the rear seats, expanding to nearly 65 cu ft with the rear row folded. Interior styling is upscale for the class, with soft‑touch surfacing and intuitive logical layout.
Technology includes an available 10.25‑inch digital instrument display paired with a touchscreen of similar size featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Higher trims offer panoramic sunroof, Bose audio, dual wireless charging pads, and ambient lighting. Driver assistance is robust: lane‑keeping assist, blind‑spot monitoring, rear cross‑traffic alert, adaptive cruise control with highway driving assist, and surround‑view cameras on upper trims.
Trim levels include Preferred Hybrid, Premium Hybrid, XRT PHEV, and Limited PHEV. The XRT offers rugged styling and 19‑inch wheels on all PHEV trims. Preferred Hybrid pricing starts around US $34,000, while Limited PHEV climbs into the high‑$40K range. In Canada, pricing begins near mid‑C$40Ks for hybrids and approaches upper C$50Ks for fully equipped PHEV trims.
Owners appreciate the Tucson’s elegant design, quiet ride, roomy interior, and compelling hybrid economy. Some note that PHEV charging takes longer than non‑EV SUVs require for full plug‑in energy, and that base trims lack digital elegance compared to Limited models. Real‑world combined fuel figures under light-footed driving easily exceed 40 mpg in hybrid form.
Overall, the 2025 Tucson Hybrid and Plug‑in Hybrid are standout choices in the compact SUV segment—offering strong efficiency, modern features, and flexible drivetrains in a refined, comfortable package. Let me know if you'd like trim-by-trim breakdowns, towing specs, or comparisons to rivals like RAV4 or CR‑V hybrid.

Buy Hyundai Automobile 2025 Hyundai Tucson
I am a disabled Veteran who purchased a 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe from a dealership in Lawton Oklahoma and long story short, my girlfriend was driving her niece home in my new truck and the back axle snapped which caused the brakes to not respond and an accident was a result and thank God everyone was alright, The accident happened because She was driving towards a four lane intersection and she heard a pop and began to loose control of the vehicle, she never managed to get control before she was struck by another driver on the same side that the axle just snapped. She heard a the tire pop after she was hit in the intersection along with her niece that is a toddler in the back. The reporting officer gave my girlfriend a ticket saying she failed to stop at a red light, Instead of the truth Vehicle Malfunction: My insurance company adjuster said that he can tell by the dent in my rim the tire exploded after the accident. Hyundai has had me waiting for them for almost 5 months of payments plus insurance and told me since Im filing the complaint I cant fix it until the claim is fully investigated. Im still waiting and this has ruined many things for me these 4/5 months, not having a vehicle. Ive been very patient but this has been a huge inconvenience and I no longer want my vehicle. I feel my Truck is poorly made, and unsafe, and I cant be paying for a vehicle that just sits in my yard. Not to mention all the court cost due to the ticket!
This is not exactly what happened, but more like a what is about the Hyundai Elantra. I have just found this website when I decided to do some searching for Hyundai information, especially the Hyundai Elantras so-called automatic transmission. You see, in July 2010, I was desperately in need of some good transportation for myself and my family, and I decided to take a look at Hyundai. I am embarrassed to say that I bought two Elantras at the same time. Im even more embarrassed to admit that I traded a really nice Impala for them. OK, time to cut through the chase about the Elantra automatic. I have a very strong belief that Hyundai is under geared or lacks adequate gearing for the motors power band. Admittedly, Im no expert and unable to spew out technical jargon on the subject. But shortly after becoming an owner of my two Hyundais, I noticed that there was something very substandard about how these things shifted and accelerated. Ive begun reading other peoples reviews and I believe some of them are describing the very same condition, but maybe a little less technically aware of the actual problem. Its true that the vehicle will upshift during acceleration, putting the motor into a lugging state, if that is possible for a gasoline motor as it is for a diesel motor. Just to reiterate, Im not an expert on the subject but actually would love to hear someones expert opinion on the matter. Anyhow, these people are right such as Della of Omaha, NE - i.e. during normal acceleration. The vehicle shifts, then has very little power and begins to chug and vibrate so you have to punch the accelerator to go back down into the gear you just upshifted from. The condition is somewhat circumvented the more rapidly you accelerate, but soon you may find the RPMs back in that inadequate power range. I dont think this poses a problem for salespeople during a test drive because they know most people are going to punch the accelerator to see how it accelerates, meanwhile not noticing this annoying flaw. Now there is something in the drivers manual about manually downshifting for some situations and I think this can help some, but I think there is a tendency to forget to shift back into high gear. So to me, that makes it questionable about whether or not the vehicle is really automatic shifting, even though it is technically an automatic transmission. Ive heard people saying they went to the dealer experiencing this condition. Im not surprised theyre not acknowledging a problem with the vehicle. After all, they knew about it when they sold it to you. Without quoting right from the warranty, Im pretty sure it says something about vehicle performance that is characteristic to all the vehicles deems it to be normal. I would guess its a car companys right to sell you a crappy car, and the dealers too. It just proves people will do anything for a buck, even to whip out their Motor Trend magazine where it was their car of the year. So how did that happen, are they a creditable magazine? I just think they knew they were building a crappy car and they got people going around saying its great.
When headlights are in the auto position, they sometimes do not go off. This has caused the battery to be fully discharged. With the key fob in the car, the doors have locked. This happened at the dealership and car washes, as well as my home when I have tested it. The car has been in the shop for five times, three of those times overnight, and is now at the dealership for twelve days with no results. I have written to Hyundai, the Better Business Bureau and had a lawyer look into it. Hyundai claims they cannot find the problem and will do nothing.
Brought in my 2015 Hyundai Elantra for service, mechanic stated it needed an oil pump and an engine and it would take a month to fix. When I asked about a rental I was told that they had no cars. Tie my car up for a month and dont offer alternate transportation. Totally unacceptable. I will never purchase another hyundai ever again.
I bought my Hyundai Tucson in 2017. Since that time it has had motor replaced 6 times, several electrical issues and had spent as much time in the shop as in my possession. All the while making I make payments the on a car that is unreliable and worthless. The dealership nor Hyundai is any help.
I recently took my car into Tuscaloosa Hyundai which is nearing the 60,000-mile original warranty and discovered that the new car warranties offered are limited. Did you know that the A/C system is only covered for one year? All of the systems in the car have different warranties so the 60,000-mile thing is just a scam. At 60,000 miles you are required to have certain services done for your so called million mile warranty to be valid and it is very costly. I assume that as you progress your mileage there will be more costly charges to continue your warranty. I just wanted to make the public aware that you are not getting a full bumper to bumper warranty. Whoever heard of a 1-year warranty on an A/C? On some systems, you have to pay for the parts while you are under warranty. This was never disclosed to me during my purchase of this vehicle. You can look the new car warranty up online and it says Limited new car warranty. I thought a warranty was a full warranty but this is not the case. My suggestion is buy a car with a real warranty, not a Hyundai.
I had never bought anything but a Chevrolet or a Ford and I always had a full size car. The Hyundai was the first foreign car and the first small car that I have purchased. I love the way it drives and the MPG. But I did have a problem with the seat belts that the dealership refused to acknowledge and fix and the tires that came with the car were not good. It also did not come with a spare. I will never buy a car without a spare again.
While driving on highway the engine suddenly stops, all lights on instrument panel came on. Car would not start so had it towed to my mechanics. No diagnostic codes showed up on computer. After he did some research, said this was a known problem, by Hyundai, with the 2.4 L engines. Had it towed to dealership and while there a salesman told me I was the 4th person to bring in a Hyundai vehicle with the same problem. Why isnt Hyundai taking responsibility for this problem? Now I have a car that wont run, no money for new engine (which I feel I shouldnt have to pay for) and car payments to pay. What can I do? Waiting on dealerships response.
07 Santa Fe problems after 60,000 miles. Oh, where to start? Well, even before the 60,000 mile mark, we were wearing out a second set of tires (3rd set came around 66K). After 60K, both front ball joints needed replacing along with steering arm (front left). Then a host of electrical problems. March 2012 had alternator and battery replaced. Check engine light has been on continuously for over a year. Dealership scanned, no codes. Ignored light ever since. Now, alternator failed again. Returned to shop where previous alternator was installed, thinking that was the problem. Nope. Oil leaked from valve cover gasket onto alternator, shorting it out. Well, I already had it towed from point where it died to this shop, not going to have it towed again for $85 or so to nearest Hyundai dealer, who may or may not conclude that the gasket replacement is a warranty item (79,000 miles and I am original owner). Hyundai customer service is not helping. Usual corporate gibberish e-mails and saying that warranty claims must be handled through a dealer, which I agree with. My contention is that the 3.3 liter V6 engine has a ton of consumer complaints regarding this gasket leakage issue and that Hyundai shouldve issued a recall notice. But its a costly repair as far as labor, so chumps like me are stuck with the bill unless a dealer wants to submit a claim. I worked for a Hyundai tier 1 supplier in Alabama in 2005 and it was true then, keeping costs down was priority one. I am convinced Hyundai uses parts thatll last just long enough to make 60K miles, then consumers are on their own. Cant believe I traded an Accord (high mileage with no issues whatsoever) for a Sonata (our other car). Gonna get rid of the Sonata before 60K for sure. My advice, if buying a Hyundai, get an extended warranty too (I did not), but go over the fine print and see what it covers.
I have a 2010 Hyundai Entourage. I purchased this vehicle thinking it would be a reliable vehicle in July 2017. It had only 125,000 kms and was in great condition. So far I havent been exactly thrilled with reliability. But my impression changed today when I went into Hyundai dealership to order new a/c-heater control panel since my button for fan speed has broken. I was told there was one available but at a stupendous price of $900.00. I pretty gagged when they told me this. I was expecting $200.00-$300.00 which is till expensive but at least tolerable. After this experience, I will never buy another Hyundai vehicle because replacement parts are sold at a totally rip off price. $900.00 for a piece of electronic that simply controls heat and fan speeds. It doesnt even have automatic temperature control on this unit.
I have the Hyundai Sonata 2011 that was manufactured in Alabama between Dec 11, 2009 and April 12, 2012 part of the recall campaign 132. Prior to this my Sonatas motor seized up and stopped work with only 60K miles and at that time the company did not want to honor the warranty and also gave me a very hard time about the loaner so much that I had to rent a car myself. I later contacted someone at the corporate office in CA and finally received a full refund. Now my motor goes out with no warranty at 154K miles. Send the car to my mechanic for repairs. Out of pocket 15.000+ only to find out that there was nothing left but to replace the motor according to my VIN number. This is what Hyundai motors said and was also told that money I spent would be reimburse in 90 days. Well its been 100 + days without even a courtesy call?
This car is very dangerous on the road. When resuming speed after a stop sign or making any turns, the car stalls and then when the gas pedal is pressed it takes off like a jackrabbit. I was told that a 1.6 litre on a crossover doesnt have enough horsepower.
I just like to have a horrible nightmare story with my Hyundai Sonata 2005 in last 2 years. I desperately need your legal helps, suggestions and comments. On 02/22/2012, My Sonata 2005 just past 70,914 Miles and I was suggested by young guy name ** to change my Timing Belt and etc. I spent $967.43 to let Lehigh Valley, PA Hyundai Service Center done the job. At that point, my car just have a tire issue. After 2 weeks, I hear some noise when I first time start car. I called **. He told me because it’s new belt and Id better to tolerant it. At April, I still hear noise and little bit loud. I call them again. They let me left the car with them several days. They wrote it down as they cant find any problem and adjust timing belt little. They sold me about annual State Inspection package this time. After that, I changed Spark Plug and Engine Oil with top line product myself in the same year. I always use Hyundai Genuine Oil and Air Filters once day one and do this maintenance job myself when I purchased the car as brand new one. I tolerant this problem several months and called them again. They still tell me the same answer. I was so busy for my job and life. I cant always let them keep my car for several days to find nothing. On 04/08/2013 at 88,055 miles, I hear a belt broken sound while I am driving on I-78 and engine is completely shut down. I called them ask for road assistant and was told to paid for towing or solve myself. I managed myself to get their place. They told me that I have to pay myself for the repairs. After several days, they called and informed me that they found the engine was broken. They will cover for these repairs. In last year, I already talk to totally different Manager and Service Reps. They also told me that they had difficult to find replace engine. Until 05/01/2013, I was called for the job done.I changed engine oil with Hyundai Genuine Oil Filter and 5 Gallon Castrol High Mileage 10W40 myself last summer. And I wish I can keep this car for another 5 years. However, I notice in Nov. the oil check light sometimes flashing in an barely occasion while I drive on highway ramp and stop at traffic. Im NOT pay too much attention about this issue. I know if I call them, they will keep my car for several days and find nothing. Thats about their service and skills.Last month of 8th, I try to pull my car from heavy snow in dark evening and the car start as normal and was NOT working after several times back and forth to pull out. With several light on, I can start the car at all. I give up my efforts to drive car out in that evening. I called my job off in second morning and try to start it again. It was OK and out of from the snow. I immediately drive to LV Hyundai Service Center and notice that the engine check light is solid ON while I stop at traffic. They call me afternoon and tell me they cant find any engine oil in my car and the engine is broken again and ask me about engine oil and filter purchase receipts. I usually dont keep these small purchase receipt for my normal life. However, I can show them my a couple of old replacement Hyundai Genuine Oil Filters in my garage. I bring two used filter and one air filter. I argue with them NO CAR should running under engine oil while my gas tank is 80% full. Your engine has a big design defect. You should repair or replace it again under your all your warranty claims and consumer protection laws. I talk to them back and forth several time already. They still refuse to do so. I dont have my car for more than one month. Please help me if you all can. Thank you very much in advance.
My car was rear-ended by someone. I took my car so the rear bumper and other stuff that may have happened due to the accident be fixed. The day before I took it in, the brake light and the battery light came on. I was able to drive home. The next day the car wouldnt start. I called my insurance company and they sent roadside assistance. I was able to drive to the dealership. I explained what happened. I told them I spoke to someone. I gave them the name of the person. When they are done with the body shop part, and the insurance fixes whatever they needed to do, take it to the body shop and I will pay for it. Instead they changed the battery at the body shop. I picked up my car, and the lights are still on. I told them and I asked if it’s going to stall on me because I work 38.2 miles away. They said the battery is changed, the car is probably adjusting to the new battery, it wont stall - you should be good. I picked up the car this morning, lights still on, everything is driving good. Got almost to my destination and the whole electrical system went haywire. The gas gauge went from half tank to empty and the odometer disappeared. The speed gauge was in side to side directions. The car started buffering. Thankfully and praying like crazy, I got to the parking area. Turned the car off. To make a long story short, I had to pay half the expense of a towing company to get me back to the dealership. All of this could have been avoided if they had listened to me and just take the car to the service area.
Purchased a 2014 Hyundai Equus with 71 miles on odometer and Hyundai Motor America said I not entitled to 10 year/100,000 powertrain warranty as a second owner. Car purchased on Aug 1, 2015, and although manual provides for mandatory arbitration through Auto Line at BBB, I have been systematically denied an opportunity to argue my warranty rights. It has now been 11 months and despite countless calls to customer care office and a detailed letter to new CEO of Hyundai, he has not responded at all! Never! The manager at customer care, known only as Steve, said my case warranted an exception and he would send all my paperwork to legal dept. of Hyundai in California. Said in February, 2016 a decision would be prompt. After following up several times due to no response, Steve has settled upon a course of action to not speak to me or share legal departments evaluation. Nobody should buy a Hyundai and probably a Kia for reasons that an honest dispute will not even be considered and Hyundai refuses to authorize the Better Business Bureau to arbitrate a warranty matter it believes it has no jurisdiction over. The BBB representative said “Just ask Hyundai to approve.” and Susanne said she would not. And Dave Duchowski, the CEO refused to intercede or reply to my fully particularized letter dated March 10, 2016. My intention is to publish a series of editorials nationally and to pursue a criminal complaint with Brian Frosh, the Attorney General for Maryland.
My experience with this company since 2014 until now has been positive. Now this company has disappointed me greatly. One month ago I was told I could defer my car payments for up to 3 months. Two customer service agents informed me of this offer being available because of the COVID 19 outbreak and the job loss it caused. POLICY CHANGE PER HYUNDAI CORPORATE!! As of May 31, 2020 this policy has been changed without notice and definitely without consideration to millions of people still out of work. Hyundai Finance and Hyundai Customer Service will not defer any payments past May 31, 2020. If you call Assurance, they only help people who have loss their job not people on furlough. A billion dollar company just spit in their consumers faces.
My 2007 Hyundai Entourage at 49,798 miles had to have its pulley replaced at my expense. Obviously the part was defective. The dealer said there was no implied warranty, so I had to pay $279.57 for the labor and part. I never had a pulley replaced on any car I owned. One van had over 250,000 miles on it, and the pulley on it was still good.
Bad smells, like engine compartment smells almost all the time. Worst when stopped at intersection, you smell every car exhaust next to you. With cabin only air it stinks badly and cannot use. Brought car to dealer 5 times for this and they keep saying new car smell!! Car is 10 months old.
I been having Warranty Issues since I bought my 2010 Elantra . Starting out with failing Brake Lights to causing misfire and to end it the EPS. When going to the Dealership for the engine issue, I had been told I have water leaking into my cylinder that needs to be cleaned out due to my car not having the engine light on. The same day the car had seemed to misfire and the engine light came on. I drove to the first Auto repair shop I saw and they run the diagnostic and it showed a code. They told me the issue was under warranty and I should bring it to the Dealership. I asked if they could clean the grease out a little so it would stop jerking. They did. I took it ten miles down the road to the Dealership and left it with them. Next day, they called me and told me all I had is some water in my cylinder and that it wasnt covered by warranty. So when I got to the dealership, he showed me the bill what was even more as that from the repair shop to fix the gasket. They explained to me they couldnt pull a code and the code given by me to them wasnt making any sense. So I took my car to Firestone and had them look into the so-called water in my cylinder. As they they couldnt find any water anywhere. Long story short, they didnt honor the warranty at all. Now the EPS seems to be failing and Hyundai expect the code to to read in order to honor the warranty. Well Dear Hyundai, the EPS dont stay on and you cant pull a code because no one be able to drive with the EPS out to the dealership so they can see the light is on. So again another bill on the Buyer cause Hyundai. So what Im trying to say is buying a Hyundai is a waste of money. They also stated what I called and complained, You dont have any Oil Changes on file with the dealership. Really I never had any issues with my VW when I took it to the Dealership about anything. And they did listen to the customers concerns and try to help and not send you out with issues that they didnt want to fix under warranty. This was my first and last Hyundai I had Purchased.
I am very disappointed with Hyundai. I purchased a 2015 Sonata sport on September 28 and 17 days later I went thru the car wash and the shark fin came off during the wash and it broke into pieces. I called the dealership and they quoted some ridiculous price for a plastic cover, I couldnt believe it, so next I called Hyundai corporate office to see if it was cover by warranty and was told no and they were sorry to hear about my misfortune and I am simply furious and sad at the same time because the refused to accommodate me in any way with a simple matter after not even having the care for a month. I see that they dont stand by their product and dont care about their customers satisfaction. I would hate to see what happens if I have a major problem. I am sure that that computer board underneath isnt supposed to be exposed but Hyundai could care less I see. So next I guess itll get ruined. I cant believe Hyundai would be so unconcerned and inconsiderate of its customers. I am also sure the fin should just come off in a car wash so it had to be defective before. I will tell all my family and friends that Hyundai is not a honorable company and it does not care for its customers and does not stand by their products. I should have known better when I read the articles about the car fires and they didnt take care of the people in that situation. I dont know why I expected them to give a crap about my issue. I have an appointment with south town Hyundai tomorrow. I dont know why or if I should even keep the appointment because I cant afford their prices. I was so excited about my new car and I actually love it, however this disappointment I have for Hyundai I have right now makes me never again buy or trust Hyundai. Live, learn and research before you buy. DONT BUY HYUNDAI!!!
I purchased this vehicle - Hyundai Accent GLS. I am very due diligence with maintenance & have the receipts to support this. After 3 years of owning this vehicle, the engine oil light came on. I took it in every time the light appeared. A diagnostics was conducted by the dealership with no reason. A fuel filler was replaced to see if this was the issue but again, light kept coming on. I went to Hyundai Canada as my warranty was running out, only to be told this was my issue. I recently tried to do a trade in, but was penalize for the engine oil light that comes on, a issue the professionals could not diagnose. This is a buyer be aware, I would recommend going with another brand as I was penalized for purchasing a Hyundai
This car (2008 Hyundai Santa Fe) has had multiple recalls on it. Several of them major safety concerns. One of them (NHTSA #10058931) due to an engine valve leak causing oil to leak all over the alternator. (I lost all control, power, etc on Christmas Eve barely making it off the road into a parking lot, but not a space). They fixed the front valve with the recall, but now there is a second valve doing the same thing. Not part of the original recall (at least a $500 fix out of my pocket) that at this moment I will get to be responsible for. This doesnt include the previous issue with the ESC or the new BAD electrical problem that affects the stop lamp illumination (so no brake lights), the ESC and several other things (oh, and Hyundai hasnt notified me of this new recall yet, but Im definitely having the issue). It can also affect the shifter and allow your car (when on) to be taken out of park when the brake pedal isnt pressed. Ive been supremely disappointed in the timeliness of communications on recalls, the multitude of recalls and the lack of willingness to fix all problems (e.g. the gasket heads). Ive included pictures of some of the recall statements from the NHTSA, etc.
On Memorial Day, I purchased a Hyundai Tucson Sport AWD 1.6L Turbo. This is my first time purchasing a Hyundai and I really made the purchase because of the warranty. Now I am having buyers remorse. The vehicle I purchased drives great on the highway, but is not easy to drive in city traffic. I experience a lot of hesitation and jerkiness when pressing on the gas pedal to accelerate from a complete stop. I have complained about this to the dealer and was told I need to get used to the gas pedal because that is the nature of the turbo engine. I have also experienced a lot of static on FM radio stations. The owners manual mentions that static does not mean there is anything wrong with the radio, it is just a poor signal coming to the car due to distance from the tower or perhaps trees or buildings blocking the signal. I have even experienced outages when I tune into XM stations using Sirius. I will get silence for up to three minutes. The dealer told me to bring it in at my convenience and they will check out the radio, but I have a feeling if it does not act up while they have it, they will just re-iterate what the owners manual says. I have never had these issues with any of my previous vehicles, so I think these are design issues with this model. I am not a happy Hyundai owner to say the least.
I have a 2009 Hyundai Sonata. It has about 140,000 miles on it and is admittedly well outside of any warranty. However, I believe this case requires an exception. About a year ago, the paint started chipping off my car. Not little scratches but fairly large spots. I contacted Hyundai who said it was outside the warranty, and I let it go. Last Saturday, during a hard rain, the paint literally fell off my car. My husband drove to Columbus that day, and when he arrived, the paint had vanished from the entire roof. Patches came off of the hood as well. And the trunk is beginning to peel. I am told this is a delamination issue related to metal paint preparation. While I realize that the car is outside the warranty, I stand by my statement that no matter how many miles a car has on it, the paint should not come off in the rain! Hyundai refuses to even refer the case to a supervisor.. Normal wear and tear happens, and I accept that. But this is clearly a factory defect, and I think Hyundai should be responsible for fixing it. I am interested in finding others with similar experience to approach Hyundai together.
I bought a 2012 Hyundai Elantra from Tuttle Click Dodge in Tustin. There they had a sticker posted with 39 hwy mph. My car gets no more than 24 mph on the freeway going 65 steady in the right lane with Chevron gas. I have taken it to 5 different Hyundai dealers complaining about the issue almost right away. They all shrugged their shoulders and told me they couldnt find a problem. That the digital eco meter is a dummy gauge and doesnt give accurate numbers. Then why do they match my manual calculations? Finally after I showed them the website where I found out about the class action lawsuit did they admit... oh ya your car does have a mileage problem. Oh ya... we already lost the lawsuit. We will waste a ton of your time, and then say sorry you are not original owner and therefore not eligible for gas reimbursement! Today I took my horrible Hyundai to the dealer and they gave it back to me with a huge scratch on the door. Also, my newish Hyundai with only 20,000 miles makes a ton of noises and the check engine light came on.
My 2006 Sonata with 38,000 miles developed a bad engine noise. I took it to two dealers in Rochester, NY and it was diagnosed as a defective part in the hydraulic system, keeping chain tension. The cost to repair was $1000. Not something that should be happening on a car with only 38,000 miles. I called Hyundai Customer Affairs and they would not accept responsibility for the problem. This car was passed from father to daughter due to death 4 months earlier and as of 2004, the warranties do not pass to the beneficiary. If the father still owned the car, it would be covered. Last Hyundai we will ever own. We will be getting rid of the car.
Zero Rating if possible. I dont really know where to begin with this brand and its terrible cars. I purchased a brand new Hyundai Sonata Turbo in 2013. Ive spent countless hours with my car in the shop over the car sputtering, shaking, cutting off at stop signs. Not to mention the electronics in the car are terrible; Bluetooth doesnt connect half the time for unknown reasons. Theres been at least 4 recalls done since I purchased this car. I had to get a total electrical discharge done to reset the electronics because the car was going haywire. Finally, Im down on Myrtle Beach for vacation and the car totally shuts off. Turns out it was a faulty engine that needed to be replaced. Took 30 days to get the engine sent in from Korea and replaced. Then somehow the rental car that I had racked up an amazing 2400 bill of which Hyundai determined to only pay $400. And then afterward I noticed the car jumping and things shifting and making horrible noises under the hood. Turns out the repairmen didnt screw the transmission mount screws on tight enough both of the bolts had the heads off and the transmission was moving around while I was driving. The dealership told me the car would be fine to drive and so I did until it just became unbearable. Now they want me to fork over another $1700 to replace the entire subframe that they messed up when installing the engine. Hyundai is a horrible company with Horrible cars. I will never purchase another thing from you and your terrible dealerships. Go out of business for the countries sake or leave your terrible cars in Korea.
I just leased a new Sonata. And after the deal was final and I took possession of the car. 6 days later, I was contacted by Hyundai finance (Kevin) at the dealership. I was told I needed to come back in because they made a mistake with the bank rate and the residual was too low. I was told my payment was going to go down 5 dollars and the residual was going to go up 2700. I was also told once I got to the dealer that I was entitled to a Platinum Bram Auto Protection plan for the length of my lease. When I asked why I was getting this I was told for the inconvenience and its just how the new numbers work out. After signing the NEW contract, I was called yet again 5 days later to come back to the dealer, that there was a mistake made again, and they did not take into consideration the 21M miles that I originally needed and had in the deal. When I went back the finance guy and the GM had me in the finance room and I was told they need to either raise my payment, or take away the miles and the protection plan. I said I already have a signed contract, plates, keys... Etc. for 2 weeks. He told me if I did not sign, I would not get a payment book and it would be like I have a stolen vehicle.I left the dealership in complete despair. I have never been strong armed and treated like this. I told him, he was threatening me and that I have a legal contract. He said, Go see your lawyer, that contract is void. He wants me to sign a different deal than the one I have and give back everything that they have in my contract. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT I NEED TO DO TO KEEP THE CONTRACT THAT I WAS GIVEN AS WRITTEN, AND THE CAR.
Faulty Caliper Pins on 2012 Accent: Long story short, I had Merchants Tire in Warrenton look at my brakes because of awful noise. They showed me the gouge in the rotor from where the brake pad wore because of a faulty caliper pin. They stated there should be no reason for this caliper pin to be broken and the pad to wear unevenly. They called Browns Manassas Hyundai and conferred with one of their mechanics. He also seemed to think it was a factory defect and under warranty. They suggested bringing it in and confirming the issue. I made an appointment for 3:30 the next day. At noon, they called and said the service station was closed and they set up an appointment at Fairfax Hyundai. I drove my car 45 miles out to Fairfax where I was treated like a stupid girl and spoken to as if I were an ignorant child. They said it would take at least 2 hours before they could look at it. I left with my ride and half way home, I received a call from the service department. They stated that the brake pads were worn evenly but needed changed, the rotors needed turned and there was absolutely nothing wrong with the calipers. It would cost around $400-$450 to fix. This completely contradicted Merchants (who have known me for the past 8 years). I am fed up with the runaround so I contacted a supervisor, Gustavo, at Hyundai Customer Service. He assured me that it sounded suspicious and he would call Fairfax. On my way back to picking up my car, which I instructed them NOT TO TOUCH, Fairfax Hyundai calls me to say, “It does seem to be a caliper issue but its just dirty and we can clean it. But you do need pads and rotors. We can fix it but it will cost you. I spent the last half hour trying to DIG the brake pad out of the rotor with a screw driver!” WHAT? A SCREW DRIVER DIGGING A BRAKE PAD OUT OF MY ROTOR? I was just told the rotors were fine, no scratches and worn evenly and now they are digging something out of them. I am beyond irate and disgusted. Going on 2 weeks now and car is still not fixed. On top of that, they are having to reimburse consumers because of the misquoted mpg.
My 2014 Sonata was at the end of the lease. I always had automatic payment out of my checking account. On May 10 I requested the stop of the automatic payment. I received confirmation and a paper invoice. The car was turned in on May 27. Hyundai still deducted the lease payment on May 29. From my checking account. I called them on May 31, they admitted it was a mistake on their part. They said I would get a refund in 3-4 weeks. Be careful of Hyundai. I would cancel my auto payment 3 months early to avoid this situation.
2012 Hyundai Velostar - They make these cars attractive to the younger drivers but I would never put my child or myself in another Hyundai. My daughter totaled her car with all front end damage. None of the airbags deployed. She hit her head hard enough to knock her out. I called Hyundai the day after the accident because even the officer working the accident and the collision center had enough sense to know the airbags should have deployed. After 3 weeks with no car and hearing nothing. I called them at which point they wanted to mail me a packet to complete and mail back and then they would start their investigation. They will not help you... They make it so difficult that you give up!
My Tucson 2017 had a problem with acceleration. The dealership technician inspected the car for and said there is no permanent solution for this problem. Surprisingly they charged $120 for doing nothing on a guaranteed car. And the customer service did not respond to my complaint.
Hyundai bluelink causes my 2015 Genesis Sedan to randomly start and unlock itself. I spent months trying to resolve this issue with Hyundai and they offered no help. They randomly called after not receiving any contact and said the issue was fixed. Didnt offer any help and kept asking me to pay more money to extend services I didnt need.
Nothing but problems from day one of this loan; first month wrong contract information entered that I fought for 39 months. At month 36 of my 39-month lease, I learn they made an error and its a 48-month lease, We went around and around. Then turn in car at end of lease (48 months not 39-months mind you!) to have termination fees, return fees, mileage fees (I expected those), and had a $1400.00 bill. HMF tells me I can pay it incrementally via the same account. I pay $400. then $100 each month at the suggestion of the HMF call representative. I did this on principle because I was so mad about how I was treated so I decided to pay it slowly. Yesterday, I get a phone call from a collection agency saying I owe $1400.00. I explain I have the payment confirmations from my bank showing $900.00 in payments my husband has made--the agency says (quote) well hes lying. No payments have been made and you owe it. I call HMF today and the representative, Tanya, with a heavy Indian accent, tells me she sees the $900.00 and its in collection for $402.21. Again, I tell her that her Hyundai co-representative told me to pay it that way. She says, Ill make a note of that on your account but you have to make arrangements with the collection agency to pay it. I have never had collections on this or any car loan! OMG I was NEVER LATE NOT ONCE. It was auto-pay from my bank! I requested a statement with complete billing history and told Tanya I would pay Hyundai the full amount directly. I have been switched and mislead over and over. Buyer beware!
We loved our 2006 Hyundai up until a few months ago. The check engine light came on at slightly more than 50,000 miles so we took it in for service. It has been back 3 times to the tune of $1300 plus, somehow needed all new brakes, canister close valve replaced (supposed reason for light being on), and the check engine light is still on. The last time we took it back they said the gas cap was loose. The light stayed off for about three days then came back on again. We had four different people check the gas cap, but it stayed on. We then went out to get a new gas cap -- light is still on and the car has a ticking sound that it did not have before the service.I have called customer service three times -- they are nice, but do nothing -- sent a FedEx letter to corporate -- it was refused by their mail room -- so will now take the car to a regular mechanic who can perhaps find the problem. DO NOT BUY A HYUNDAI!!! They run great until a problem comes up and then the service is not there. We used the Danbury Dealership in CT, but have heard the one in Vero Beach, FL is just as bad.
Hyundai Buyer beware – Internal Processes & Systems are Broken with no way to resolve. I have a sizeable credit balance (>$1,000) on my car loan account after paying the loan off over 4 months ago with Hyundai Motor Finance (HMF) even after contacting both HMF and Hyundai Corporate US. Even after contacting and/or attempting to contact HMF over 50 times, I have no confidence this balance owed to me will be refunding any time soon. When calling HMF customer service directly, I either get a message that they are too busy at this time and informed to “please call back again at a later time,” or customer service tells me that this is a payment department issue and the only way to inquire about the issue is through email to their own internal department and to date, they have not received a response. This has been going on for months even after being told that the response time is typically 3-5 business days and that there is nothing more they can do than to continue to send the payment department additional emails to inquire on the status. I have been told that the credit balance refund should be an automated process to refund any credit balance to me and they do not understand why there is an issue. Then I tried to contact Hyundai Corporate US to see what they could do to help with the situation. I am told that since HMF is separate from Corporate and even though they are a related organization within their corporate structure, there is nothing they can do to help me even after I requested them to contact HMF on my behalf as I was willing to provide them with all my loan information – WOW. No one will step up to the plate to help with resolution. Times are tough with COVID-19 right now and I could certainly use the money, but one seems to care. Hence – buyer beware as Hyundai internal processes are broken, their customer service team members have little concern in helping to bring resolution to an ongoing issue or to go out of “normal” processes to help you resolve the situation. I find it amazing that HMF customer service cannot pick up the phone to contact another internal department (customer service claims that they do not have a phone number for the payment department) when their standard internal process is not working. I even contact the original selling dealer finance department manager to see if he could assist in any way, but while they said they would attempt, I have never received a response from them as to whether they had any success – so here I continue to wait for my money. Wish me luck with my ongoing attempts to resolve. Loyal customer Hyundai owner to date (as this was my 7th purchase of a Hyundai vehicle, currently own 3, but this may be my last),Tom K
At 50000 mi., paint has started to peel along with rust coming through. 52000 mi., have had to have radio replaced twice. 55000 mi., both front drive axles have failed. These cars are a piece of junk. Glad I bought extended warranty. Will never buy a Hyundai again.
I have booked a Santro Xing (GLS) on 09/29/2011 with a scheme (insurance & registration free with accessories) from BM Hyundai, Dehradun (Uttranchal). On Oct. 24th, 2011, I have visited the dealer after discussing with sales representative to take the car. Firstly, they made me wait from 15:45 to 20:40. Hours later on, they told me that the scheme on which I had booked the car wont be provided now as the scheme has changed. I told them that I have the receipt of the advance booking amount but they were not ready to listen. Moreover, they asked me to deposit extra 2000 bugs for that scheme with it. They havent provided me corporate discount of rs.2000. Moreover, the manager was not ready to meet/talk to me. After all, I have left the corporate discount and picked the car. They told me that 3.5 liters of petrol is in tank, so I moved towards my home which is about 10 kms. away. On the midway, the car stopped where there was no petrol pump nearby and I was alone. Somehow I managed to get help from a stranger at around 21:30. I called the SR who was dealing with me but I got no appropriate response. I am really disappointed with the pre-sales 7 after sales service. Later on I realize that I have done a mistake by taking a Hyundai car.
I traded in my 2013 Kia Optima SXL for a 2015 Kia Optima SXL. I used the $5850 left after my payoff as my downpayment on a lease. I was in a horrible crash two weeks after and the car had 586 miles on it and it was totaled. My insurance said the car is so new they werent depreciating it, but Hyundai only says I will get back $3986.45 so I now have to lose part of my downpayment. My insurance handled this in a week and I have to pay out of my pocket because Hyundai says it will take about a minute to give me what Im due back! They have their money right away. Gap insurance obviously isnt worth it if the car is new.
I have a 2014 Santa Fe Sport. At 27500 miles the car went in for its first turbo replacement. A month later another one. Then the engine, then another engine and turbo.... Last engine replacement they had my car for 69 days to end up charging me a portion of the rental which is supposed to be covered by warranty... They damaged my firewall, and then 2 weeks later the car is back in the shop for the same engine failures. They are refusing to fix my firewall which clearly they damaged taking the engine out of my car. Unreal... Worst car experience of my life. Oh.. and when I brought the car back, it was 5:30, they close at 6. I had to fight with them to even keep my car. Kendall Hyundai could care less about its customers. The company should be embarrassed how this location runs.
The Hyundai headlights do no illuminate higher than 4-5 feet on level ground. Most street name signs are 6-8 feet high and cannot be seen at night. The problem is caused by the top of the light being blocked by the hood/fender overlap. High beams do work better but not by much and are dangerous to oncoming traffic. The service people say it is by design and cannot be changed. One mechanic said to add another set of lights. Why not just alter the headlight insert itself to alter the light pattern and be easy to replace the original? I am not able to see street names at night, and there is no help offered by Hyundai. I am sure I am not alone. Some of your people (much younger than me or my wife) have the same complaint. Do some elementary engineering to resolve this dangerous situation.
On 8/20/2013 I was leaving the VA clinic, I put the car in drive and pressed the gas. A few seconds later the car sounded like a motorcycle and the check engine light came on. I didnt want to drive it on the highway so I took the main streets. The exhaust got louder and louder and I was afraid it might cause engine damage. I saw a Meineke Car Care Center and pulled in. They lift the car and the mechanic said that the converter gasket blew out. While installing a new gasket he noticed that the gasket flange on the front pipe was a little distorted probably from all the heat. He told me he would have to put a small amount of sealer on the gasket to make up for the gap and that he didnt know if it would hold, but it would get me to the Hyundai service department without hurting the engine. When he had finished and started the car it was perfect. No noise, no leaks. I had an appointment with Twin City Hyundai on 9/12 for a recall problem. I told them what had happened and the Service rep., the service manager and a mechanic looked for almost an hour and took some parts off the front of the engine. The service rep. called me over and started explaining what was wrong with the car. He said, and they ALL agreed that the manifold was cracked and had to be replaced, the converter was no good, and needed a new front pipe, and they may find other problems after they tore it down. Travis said it would cost $1400 to $3000 if the warranty didnt cover it. Travis (the service rep.) said he had to take some pictures to see if the warranty would cover the cost. On Monday 9/16 Travis called and said the warranty was void because it was road damage, and said it would be as much as $3,000.00 to fix it. Travis NEVER said anything about “Road Damage” on 8/20 after the 3 of them had a one hour inspection. After I got Travis’s call I took the car back to Meineke and told them what Twin City said it would cost. They were outraged and called it a scam. Meineke fixed the car perfectly by installing a new front pipe and their inspection showed NO manifold crack, and no need to replace the converter as it was working properly. The front pipe was $200.00.I drove to Twin City Hyundai and acted like I wanted to have them fix the car. I asked Travis to take another look and make sure he was sure about his appraisal, and what the car needed to be fixed. Even though the car was fixed he still said that it could be as much as $3000 but definitely no lower than $1400. That’s when I told him the car was fixed for $200 and that I wondered how many others he had scammed. I then went up and talked to the General Manager **, and explained the fraud that they tried to pull. His comments were “what would you like me to do about it?” I said as the General Manager, I guess that was up to him, and then out of nowhere he says you are banded from brings your car here for warranty service. He tries to punish me for because I caught his people trying to scam me out of $2800.00.
Hyundai Finance and Leasing have given me the impression that they think its a great place to work, if it wasnt for the customer. Hours of being on hold. Not getting through. Then Getting through, just to get forwarded to another department, which usually gets you disconnected. Total incompetence! Total lack of any basic communication skills or work function. Cant even catch up a late payment due to no statement being sent, after 36 consecutive ones. No person to talk with to resolve anything. Steer clear of this car company.
Just received my 10th recall on this piece of junk. And I expect more. I was actually given a phoney long-winded dissertation of the recall by the east coast Hyundai regional representative who called me to placate me after the 9th recall. He said sometimes the robots do get it wrong. Wtf kind of response is that? Hyundai should declare this car a lemon and offer some kind of compensation to us victims of their horrendous quality control issues.
I bought an extended warranty to 10 years/100,000 miles. Yet, anytime I have a warranty issue Hyundai refuses to honor the warranty. Radiator fails - they decline, O2 Sensor fails - they decline, Struts fail - they decline. What did I pay additional monies for to have the extended warranty?
Last year, my sister took her 2012 Hyundai in for an oil change where she lived inn New Mexico. Shortly afterwards, as she was driving back to New Jersey, she heard a strange noise from her front wheel area. I accompanied her to the Hyundai dealership in Burlington, NJ. They told her that it was her wheel well protector and that the snaps were missing and she needed to have it replaced. It was not covered under warranty and ended up costing her over $300. I had read that another customer had the same issue. Her car had never been involved in any accident whatsoever. Now she has an issue with her passenger seat belt has locked and will not release. I will let you know later what the dealership has to say about this. I know now I will never buy a Hyundai after reading these reviews.
I bought a 2007 Hyundai Elantra in 2012. In 2013 I started having problems with getting the car to start. I took it to the dealership and was told I needed to have the Immobilizer Module fixed. I paid $400 to have them replaced and I was told I would have to wait for the little security symbol to appear on the dash before turning the key so the car would start. Even months after having this fixed it would still not start even after waiting for the stupid symbol to appear. It would take several tries. Then a few months later one of my back passenger door handles broke and you couldnt open the door. Fine, whatever... no one ever sits in the backseat anyway. Then the A/C died and I wasnt paying to have that fixed. Then in July 2015 I am driving down the freeway and I felt a thud and thought I had run over something. I looked in the rear view mirror but there was nothing on the road. I got to my destination and when I restarted the car, the engine light was on. I really didnt want to take it to the dealership so I took it to a mechanic and he scanned it and a code for the Shift Solenoid came up. He suggested I take it to this transmission specialist place. I ended up paying $1000 to have the Shift Solenoids replaced. A week later, Im driving and feel that thud again. Back to the transmission place. They tell me that it could be something internal with the transmission. Nice to know after I just dropped $1000 on this piece of **. I finally take it to Hyundai and leave it with them for the day. The service guy calls me and gives me a list as long as my arm of things wrong with the car... one being that the transmission is failing and the Immobilizer Module that I had fixed in 2013 needs replaced. In total, it was going to cost $5000 to fix all that was wrong with the car. EFF THAT. I went and bought a new car and it wasnt a Hyundai.
I purchased a brand new Hyundai Tucson Sport in December 2019 off the showroom floor. I paid cash for it. In February there was a clicking noise so I took it to the dealership. After diagnosis they said that a rod was coming loose and they would have to replace the motor. I only had 2000 miles on it. I should say Im 70 years old and I treat my vehicles with care. After replacing the motor it never ran right. I talked to the service manager and he lead me to believe that a rebuilt motor could have been put in it and could not confirm to me that it was a new motor. After taking it back due to low power I got frustrated with Hyundai and I traded it in at CarMax on another brand of SUV. Ill never own another Hyundai again.
Hyundai is ok but Im not really crazy about it. It has a jerking feeling when you take off from driving. It does drive good on the highway but it doesnt in town. I want a smoother ride in town and a fast car. I also wish I had a sunroof and a navigation. Even so, I like that it has 3 different drive modes. It has eco, turbo and standard. The eco saves on gas so I have it on that all the time.
I took my car in for TMPS sensor. They could not reset the computer to make the light go off so I had to take off from work, travel another hour to take it back in, then somehow a lug nut got twisted off which I could pay to replace and another sensor was out. Nearly $300 later, I left with a broken wheel stud and the TMPS light came on going back to my house. I called and requested my money back as I now dont trust Coughlin Hyundai, but we all know that isnt going to happen.
The sun visor wont stay up. It almost caused me to hit the car in front of me because of the lack of visibility. I called the dealership and there has been no recall in this matter, even though I did research about this sun visor issue and numerous complaints in Sonatas from 2006 to 2008.
My 2007 Tiburon is still under warranty. The air conditioning stopped working completely. I took it in for warranty repair and the Ourisman Hyundai of Bowie, MD to fix the a/c, saying instead that I had to pay over $200 just for them to determine what was wrong with it. They also accidentally admitted that many Hyundai a/cs malfunction because the condenser is situated in a bad spot. Poor design. The fragile and vulnerable condenser unit is placed too close to the front and too close to the road that the tiniest pebble can make a hole in it. This design flaw is peculiar to Hyundai cars and they know about it but refused to accept responsibility. To make matters worse, they still charge you over $200 just to check it out, knowing full well that they intend to tell you that the warranty does not cover it. So you are out the $200 for their so-called inspection, plus your a/c still doesnt work, plus it will cost you over $1100 to fix a tiny hole caused by poor design. So, warning, dont buy a Hyundai. They dont honor their warranty plus their cars seem to have peculiar design flaws and their dealerships seem to employ low quality, deceitful people.
Actually, Ive 2 problems with my Verna 2012 car (15,000k) only. The first one is related to the dinamo; it doesnt keep any charge if I left my car for only one day! The second is that sometime when I switch off the contact, it doesnt switch off the car and I should repeat this for 3 or 4 times! This is not the first time to complain to Hyundai. Ive a problem before after 5000k, and it is solved after visiting the maintenance center 3 times! This time is the same. Eng. ** from the maintenance center (Egypt, Cairo) sees that the car has no problem at all.
I bought a car from Hyundai in 2018 Of September. I have had this car for not even 7 months. Bought it with 7k miles on it and I’ve never missed a payment and was always a valued customer with my parents always owning one too. So when I bought the vehicle it had no recalls on it, one day I saw something online about recalls so I ran my vin to see if my car was part of the recall and it was and the recall was for the ECM, so I taken my car to Hyundai in Manassas, Virginia and got the recalled fixed. They told me all is good and my car is ready to go.Two weeks later my car goes into limp mode and won’t go over 20 miles a hour, I called the dealership nearest to me and asked them to take my car in and the one I called was Hyundai in Woodbridge, Virginia. They said they would not take me because my car was not purchased there, even though this fell under a warranty recall, so I called Fairfax Hyundai Virginia and they said that I could bring it in. Well I waited 4 hours for a tow truck and it finally got there and we headed to the dealership. I get there and waited 2 more hours for someone to run a test on my car to see what was wrong with it and it came back as I needed a new engine. Being told I need a new engine I was put in a rental car for about 3 months and I waited and waited and called at least once a week for an update. Felt like I couldnt get anything out of them besides, It’s still on back order.Well finally I get a call from the dealership saying I did not need a new engine, and all it was is a wiring harness. So I waited 3 months thinking I was getting a new engine and all I got was a new harness. Well finally I picked up my car that day they called. Returned the rental and I was heading home down I-95 in Virginia going 70 down the interstate my car completely shuts down on me and wouldnt turn back on. So I was able to safely pull over with my niece in the car with me, I got to the side of the road and called them again to explain what happen. Well they asked if I could bring it back in so I did. My car then stalled out and went into limp mode 8 more times on my way 45 minutes back to the dealership.I drop the car off and the dealership ran it over the weekend and I get a call back on a Monday and they tell me they couldnt find the problem and nothing was wrong with the car. I get back in my car look at the mileage and it was exactly the same from when I brought it in, knowing that I am now mad. My wife and I with a baby in the car refuses to drive the car and I’ve had it parked at our house. After contacting Hyundai America and speaking with someone named Anthony I asked nicely for them to take this death trap away from me and he said that he would do a case for me and he would keep me updated. Well that was 2 weeks ago today, I still havent heard from him and I’ve called multiple times a day for a long time and it goes straight to voicemail. I’ve left countless voicemails and still no response. I personally would never recommend Hyundai to even my worst enemy after the experience I have had with you all and I will never own another in my life.
I have a 2011 Hyundai Sonata.. Have had a ton of recalls that I have had to waste a ton of time at the dealership to get fixed. At little over 100,000 miles my engine started burning not leaking oil.. Brought it to Darcy hyundai in Joliet il... Told me I have to do an oil consumption test which I had to go there 6 more times to find out engine is burning oil.. Every mechanic told me I need a new engine but corporate hyundai even though they have had lawsuits over this make and model engine tells me I have to spend 1000.00 to do more tests... Every week I have to refill oil so there is oil in the engine and few months later catalytic converter goes bad because of the oil burning which car stopped running on the expressway and had to get it towed... 1 problem after another problem... Corporate hyundai tells me Im on my own and the converter costs over 1000.00 even tho the engine in that car was proven in court to be bad and replacing converter would not solve the original problem of the engine burning oil.... Stay away from hyundai or you will regret it.
My daughter bought a 2013 Hyundai Azera with 33K miles on it. It just came out of warranty and within less than 2000 miles over warranty limit, her car needs a timing chain. She has diligently kept this vehicle well maintained, has all the service records to prove so. Hyundai knows and is fully well aware that there are issues with both the Azeras and the Sonatas regarding the timing chain, yet they refuse to repair this issue or even offer to cover a portion. Will not ever purchase another Hyundai vehicle again and I was just about to get one for myself, nope not happening now!
I was told that I would get towed within an hour. I called 2 times to see why they hadnt showed up. Each time they said it would be another hour. 3 1/2 hours later the tow truck arrived. He said that he just received the call. I asked if AAA would have been quicker, and he said yes that I would have gotten help right away.
My wife purchased a 2006 NEW Hyundai Sonata. We have always been avid AM News Listeners and from day 1 the radio was worse than Poor for AM. We complained and complained and all they ever said was that the antenna in the rear window was a poor design for an antenna and that was the problem. Well, my wife just purchased a New 2014 Hyundai Sonata and I took the 2006 - since I drive far less miles annually - and now I was determined to get to the problem. When I would drive the car sometimes going over a bump on the road would instantly increase the radios reception but it would last then go back to crappy again. Sometimes as I would start the car and back out of the garage the reception would be great - then 5 minutes later it was back to crap. One day, in the garage, as I was backing out - the reception was jumping back and forth from Poor - Good - Poor to Good - so I whacked the dashboard over the radio with my hand and there was DEAD SILENCE. I turned the car off and then back on and the radio came on but with the typical Weak reception.I purchase the Haynes/Chilton Auto Repair Guide, for the 2006 Hyundai as well a CD Hyundai Shop Manuals, and watched several YouTube videos on how to remove the radio. With the radio removed and exposed - but connected - I started wiggling/moving the antenna cable around and sure enough the reception would go to Great - Poor - and NONE. As I was holding the radio with one hand and changing the station with the other hand I also noticed that if my hand squeezed or put pressure on the top and bottom of the radio - on the Antenna connection side - (in order to hold the radio) the Reception might also go from Great to Poor to None.I could see that the antenna cable connector was CHEAP looking with the center core of the cable soldered - but the Ground wires were crimped and DID NOT look there was a good connection. So I went to Radio Shack and purchased another Motorola Antenna Connector and re-did the connection to the cable. With the radio still exposed and the antenna cable connected with the new Radio Shack connector the radio sounded great. And squeezing didnt seem to have any effect as before. So I put the radio back in and left the pods on the sides of the radio disconnected - temporarily. The measured depth of the New Radio Shack Connector was slightly Longer than the original Cable Connector so it was putting some pressure on the cable and the connection and the radio began to act -up again when installed so I removed the radio (which removed the pinching pressure on the cable) and the radio worked fine.So now it is possible that there is a bad connection, internally, on the Female part of the Antenna cable connection to the radio. I tested the continuity for the Ground and hot points to the cable connection - while I had the radio out and they tested OK - but the test was not under a pressure stress, either. So the bottom line is that Hyundai Continues to LIE and ** about the AM Radio Problems with the 2006 Sonatas. Unlike the most recent excuse from Hyundai Service at Lester Glenn in Toms River, New Jersey, the problem is NOT with the Rear Window-Designed Antenna - its the cheap Connectors, Crappy Radios and the ** Service people who dont want to do their job of fixing your car under warranty. My wife took out the 100,000 miles / 10 year Bumper to Bumper Extended Warranty with Hyundai when she bought the car so now - After 6-8 Hours of MY TIME and the expenses to buy workshop materials - I am going to raise Hell with Hyundai USA!
My 2008 Hyundai Veracruz with roughly 60,000 miles on it has been at the dealership for two weeks not running. There is damage to the engine and excessive sludge build up which has also damage parts around the engine. I was told that the work is not covered under warranty because it is due to lack of maintenance. I was able to produce receipts that proved I get scheduled oil changes on my car and passed on this information to the dealership. I then called Hyundai North America and filed a complaint and requested to have this work covered under the warranty since it happened from no fault of my own. It has now been two weeks and a Hyundai North America regional manager has failed to reach out to me and contact me in regards to this. I call and email and still have no answers as to what is going on with my car. I have just received a phone call from the dealership that they received an email and that Hyundai will not cover the engine damage because they still find it happened due to lack of maintenance. Nobody from Hyundai North America has reached out to me to discuss these findings. This is the second Hyundai I purchased because I was sold on Americas Best Warranty. This could not be less accurate. The customer service has been below par and the fact that they will not stand behind the warranty and fix what is broken is worse. I will never purchase a Hyundai vehicle again and I ask you to take my experience into consideration before you do. I understand that there is no guarantee that nothing will last forever and I accept that, I can deal with that. The customer service from Hyundai is what is completely dissatisfying and unacceptable.
See attached photos! Out of the last 5 years I have owned my Hyundai I have had 4 door handles break and latches on inside to visor mirror & center console break within the first year of owning the vehicle. And I dont have children and never use these doors! It seems these are very cheaply made causing a huge inconvenience! 2 door handles repaired in the past 3 years and now 2 more are broke the same way this last year that have not been repaired. This has become very pricey and unnecessary to have to maintain to have working door handles. I have owned many cars in my life and never had this problem! Why arent these considered recalls??? I feel I should not have to continue to pay for the replacements of the handles and latches! I would like Hyundai to be responsible to repairing these items as they are currently not in working condition! Sincerely, Frustrated Hyundai owner.
In March, we had an engine issue with our 2015 Sonata that has less than 8000 miles... It started with the clicking sounds that we hear whenever we hit the accelerator. We brought it to a local dealer. They took 2 weeks to fix the issue. When I asked about if it was all fixed and all was good to go, the dealer said yes and that we shouldnt have any future issues with it. Within 4 days from picking up the fixed car, we start hearing the clicking sound again. We brought it back to the same local dealer to be fixed. Within 3 days of dropping off the car, we received a phone call from the regional manufacturer representative to ask about our vehicle and if the car was repaired. I let her know that we actually had to bring back the vehicle for the same issue just days before she called. She gave me her number and said that she would get back to me within 24 hours with an answer to whats going to happen next. I dont hear from her... Feeling frustrated, I call her to find out whats going on. Since she told me to get in touch with her rather than the dealer, I trusted her and only called her to find out whats going on. I never hear from her... In the meantime, my husband calls their Korean Customer service number to make the complains and only told to speak with the representative who is not returning our calls. She is the one who can make anything happen. WHAT??? We even tried to call different customer service numbers but we are told that she is the one we need to speak to and no one else. Finally after dropping the car off 3 weeks prior, we receive a call from the dealer that the engineer from manufacturer came out to inspect our car and that the entire engine needed to be taken apart to see what is wrong with it. It took 2 days for this engineer to inspect it but no real answers to what is the actual issue. I finally took time off from work to go to the dealer to inspect the car and everything under the hood is taken apart and they said that it will take days to put everything back and repair the issues. While at the dealer, we manage to speak with the Service Manager who said that the manufacturer went cheap way out the first time we brought the car out and they are very interested in our car because for a new car, it is having some engine issue that they cant pinpoint too. He also said that the representative advised him that she has been in contact with us so he doesnt need to call us.Feeling disappointed and frustrated with whats happening with our new car. We tried to get in touch with the regional representative. To this day, we havent been able to speak with her and the car is fixed but the engine makes a lot of noise for a new car especially compared to my dads car that has over 200,000 miles on it and we are just disappointed with our whole experience with this dealer and the manufacturer. We cant wait to return this car when its lease expires in 2 years. Never will I ever buy another Hyundai vehicle. There are reasons why people said never buy Hyundai. Shouldve listened to them.
I took my car in because I have been having trouble with the transmission. I have been very stressed because I do not like to drive a car that shows it is having problems. I have problems when I put it in reverse. I jumps and jerks. Also when I get on the free way, it struggles to shift gears. I was told that I needed to drive it for one or more months until the transmission breaks more. I am very worried because I get very nervous knowing it might leave me stranded or worse if I am in a free way.
Great service. Great price. No pressure looking at vehicles on the lot when getting my car services. 10 yr warranty on vehicles. Honest mechanics and service people. Outstanding customer service and Hyundai is impressionable.
I am an owner of a Fluidic Verna CRDI. I delivered it from SS Hyundai, Mavelikkara two months before. After one month, my a/c pipe got bent and holed resulting on the complete gas drain out. Even after at the time of service, the service center was not ready to replace the a/c pipe. They were asking Rs7000/- for replacement. Also, extreme black smoke is coming from the exhaust itself. What should I do?
Weve leased two new Hyundais in a row and 7 new Hondas leased prior to the Hyundais, with no issues. Going back to Honda or Toyota. The most recent Hyundai was a 2016 Tucson limited, the AC never worked properly from day one. Shortly after the AC came on cool air would cease. This issue is documented on the Cas Complaints website. We had 3 miserable summers in the Deep South with this lemon Tucson. Three different dealers noted the problem. One kept the car 3 days and agreed that the car had a serious AC problem, but all said unless the diagnostic computer gave an error code there is no warranty. The first Hyundai was 2016 Santa Fe, which had a well documented steering issue when highway driving. Again no Hyundai warranty help. Guess we were suckers for leasing the second Hyundai, but the warranty is utterly worthless. If you have a problem, youre screwed!
My 2016 sonata is a month old. The adaptive cruise system has failed and initiated an emergency stop while driving. The driver door is misaligned and allows road noise into the cabin and water into the sealed part of the door. The drivers side windshield wiper is misaligned and fumbles across the windshield making all sorts of noise. When I went to Hyundai of Serramonte the service clerk directed me first to a body shop. Then to the Hyundai where I purchased the car since it was a different dealer. Then told me the problem was normal and pointed to a far off car and said something like all doors are like that. We then walked over to the other car so I could show him the weather stripping on the other car does not create a gap like is on my car. He then said I can make an appointment if I want and walked off.
I purchased a 2010 Hyundai Sonata in August 2009 with 500 miles on it at the time of purchase. To date, I have had the vehicle in the service department 3 times regarding the transmission, dropping, failing and stalling, for a total of about 4 weeks in the shop. Just before the 60k mile warranty expired, the rear passenger side door handle fell apart. I had that replaced, covered under warranty. Since that time, about 5,000 miles has passed and today, the just replaced door handle fell off again in my hand trying to put my children in the car. I have tried and tried to be patient and put up with this car and all the times it has been in and out of the shop, but I am truly to my breaking point. I have to put my children in this car and travel to school, work, daycare and after-school activities. I need someone to get in touch with me regarding the possible lemon law or before it gets to that point about someone buying back my vehicle and putting me in something comparable of my choice. I am aware of the laws and my rights. Please contact me as soon as possible so we can have this resolved before anyone is seriously injured as a result of poor craftsmanship and production of my vehicle. Thank you very much in advance for your time.
When I purchased my Kia (At Hyundai), it was used so the dealership offered me an extended warranty that they sold, so I bought because you know, it’s a used car. Well last week my engine locked up on me randomly on the highway so my initial thought was “Call Hyundai because they sold my warranty to me.” So I did, and they came and towed my vehicle. Well until my extended warranty covered my repairs, I could not get a loaner so I was stuck with nothing. The next day I called and they informed me that I needed to provide proof of all my oils changes but I’ve only ever gone somewhere once to get it done. Others were done outside of a shop because I mean a lot of people do that (wasn’t done by me). They needed AT LEAST two from an actual mechanics shop (per my warranty although the warranty just states I need proof of oil change even though just giving them a receipt wasn’t enough). Well I didn’t have what they needed. So they asked if they could be approved for 2 HOURS of labor so they could get to the issue of my locked engine, through email, which was fine at the time because I was like whatever I just need my car fixed and I thought they were trying to help me out. Well two days go by, I had left the GM TWO voicemails, and no returned call so I drove up there myself to talk to him. THAT WAS A JOKE. He basically said my warranty wouldn’t cover it because it looks like it was a neglect on my end but he wanted me to keep it there “just in case”. A couple days later I find out about a settlement going on between Kia & Hyundai where they are having to replace certain models engines (A LOT that is) because of the recall on them. Hyundai swore they spoke with someone at Kia and asked if there was any recall or extended warranty on my motor, and the guy at Kia said no. COME TO FIND OUT that is NOT what the guy at Kia said and what’s crazy is Hyundai KNOWS about the protocols for this recall on my motor because they have the same issues with theirs!! They then blamed me for it not being fixed and having to owe because I “interrupted” the inspection being done by Apex, but the ONLY reason I did was because I needed a loaner ASAP and Kia promised I’d have one as soon as I got my car over there because they knew the issue fell under the settlement agreement that Hyundai knew about too but stated they were told I didnt have an extended warranty with the settlement which is why they went through Apex. But, Apex would have seen the engine was locked and known about the settlement which would have resulted in them denying the repairs. AND HYUNDAI knows that they would’ve have had to send it to Kia anyways due to my engine being locked, but they decided to take it into their own hands so they could make SOMETHING off of me. I not once signed ANY paperwork because they were communicating with me through EMAIL (how professional I know). And then the service department got MAD at me because I called and tried to get ahold of their GM (that was a joke, HE is a joke). He never returned my calls, so I went up there myself and spoke with him (that was also a joke. I don’t even see how he’s a GM).Needless to say, they will not give my car to Kia until I pay them $600 when I only approved them for 2 hours of work. And when I mentioned this, the service manager said it was because they had to reassemble my car before they could tow it, which is fine but I NEVER got a call about this or ANYTHING. When I mentioned THAT, he then replied with “Well I can disassemble it and you can come pick it up that way then”. When I say I will NEVERRRR give this sorry dealership my money EVERRRR again, I mean this with everything in me!!! They take advantage of the fact that I’m a woman and I don’t really know what’s going on.They tried to say “Well even if you pay the $600, you’ll get reimbursed by Kia for it” and after speaking with Kia’s director he informed me that that is NOT true and that it would be EXTREMELY tough to get them to reimburse me. This Hyundai dealership has taken my niceness for granted, and I hope that NO ONE ever gives them their money!!! I know $600 doesn’t seem like much, but I pay for EVERYTHING that goes on in my life, by myself (w/ Carrington’s help too) and I refuse to give my money to these hateful, disrespectful, worst communicators, ANY OF MY MONEY. This place just wanted to make SOMETHING off of me because they knew they’d get basically nothing. What’s sad, is if my car could just get to Kia I would have a brand new motor due to the settlement and be in a loaner car. Right now because of Hyundai, I have gone two weeks having to depend on my mom. And I will be contacting the BBB.May I add that the service department made it very clear that I pissed them off by going to the GM. I am a college student and have two kids who I have to get to school every morning as well as myself to work!! And I’ve been without any kind of vehicle for two weeks. They have ZERO signed papers by me, and I just can’t believe this at all. The service manager said word for word “Well if you’d like I can disassemble it and then you can come pick it up” all because I said they never called and asked for my permission before doing something that would cost me this much.
Hyundai Azera is a cross between a 4 door sedan and a sports car. 6 cylinder gas engine has plenty of power from 0-60 and fuel mileage is 21-27 mph which is decent economy. It is built solidly and provides a smooth ride even over bad roads. GPS and heated seats are standard. FWD provides solid traction in snow up to 6 inches. Lots of good driver safety features at an affordable price. Hyundai’s 5/60/100K warranty is best in the industry. Blue Link app feature provides remote start, SOS, and other invaluable features at a reasonable yearly cost after the original B to B warranty expires. Hyundai discontinued manufacturing the Azera in 2017. The only drawback is if purchased used, the powertrain warranty is reduced to 60K and prepaid MTCE cannot be purchased unless it is a certified preowned vehicle (CPO).
Air bag light will be illuminated after battery terminal separation, or minor maintenance. It will shut off after 15k miles.
Worthless Warranty. My 2012 Hyundai Genesis engine broke a piston rod and punched a hole in the block. I had just had the oil changed and the engine was full of oil. But because I didnt have the oil changed at a Hyundai dealership, Hyundai America claimed I didnt have any oil in the engine and denied my warranty claim. This was with 45,000 miles on the engine. Nothing I could do would change their mind. If they say no, thats it regardless of their warranty. What a lousy company!!!
It was in decent condition and within my budget range. I like the gold color and its good on gas. Its reliable and comfortable enough to get to and from where I need to be. Otherwise, its an average car with average features and has some issues, but thats typical for a used car. Maintenance is expensive, I wish it wasnt as much to upkeep. Its also an older car, so its features work but are pretty dated. Also, the beige upholstery is god awful and dated.
I got a loaner that is supposed to be paid by my warranty and the dealer did not pay their bill at Enterprise rental. Enterprise had my cc and charged me for the rental. I was told by Hyundai warranty that I will not be reimbursed. Hyundai warranty division is inept, unprofessional and of low standards. In other words, they suck big time. I will never ever buy another Hyundai again and I will tell everyone who listen about this crappy ** company!
I have the car since 2012 and have never had a problem except for a battery but that was to be expected. I looked for a long time and checked out many dealerships to make sure I was getting exactly what I wanted. All cars should have back up camera standard. I like the warranty. My SUV is covered bumper to bumper for 100000 miles or 10 yrs whichever comes first. This is why I bought this vehicle so that I should not have any problems. I wanted to make this the last vehicle I buy and so far it is small yet has plenty of room for boxes, my dogs and even people. It seats five people comfortable. I love it.
On Monday 3/7/16 my 2013 Hyundai Sonata accelerated on its own, jumped a curb and hit a tree. The airbag went off. The insurance company totaled the car on 3/16/16. The miles on this car was about 26,000. It was 7 a.m. and I was parking getting ready to put car in park and the car just accelerated on its own. The air bag caused a burn on my arm and I had to go to the doctor twice for the burn. I had on a fairly new Chicos top which was burned and hit the garbage. Because of the time and no one else in the parking lot no one else was involved, For this I am grateful. I have had to purchase a new car and of course is not a Hyundai. The car was registered in my husbands name Robert **.
Purchased new 2013 Hyundai Elantra Limited, do not recommend buying this new or used. Driving highway 100 miles daily, at 60,000 miles had to replace all struts and shocks. Have since replaced all 4 wheels. On 4th set of tires, at 90,000 miles had to replace rear struts and shocks again. Replaced brake calipers as well because they lock up causing the rear tires to be dragged creating flat spots rendering the tire useless. 100K warranty means nothing when everything besides the motor is breaking down daily. I will never purchased a Hyundai again. Honda here I come!!!
I recently purchased a 2012 certified Equus. Love the car but a couple of issues. I also purchased the extended 10 year - 100,000 mile warranty. The front grill when hit by stones or something, the fake chrome starts to crack and bubble. I replace the top piece, Hyundai says its not covered. Now I have the same problem on another piece. Top of the line car - this should not be happening. Also there is a smell coming from the heating/ac system, sometimes worse than others. I have replaced all filters, ozoned the car over night, air fresheners. Nothing works and no answers from Hyundai.
This Hyundai Tucson is our 2nd owned cuz theyre such great cars. We had the last one for 10+ yrs with no issues at all and we just wanted a new one. Plenty of cargo room and passenger space as well as comfortable.
Buying a Hyundai was the worst mistake of my life! Too many problems. Now after 44,000 miles my air conditioning is going out and I was told that my warranty has expired. Never again will my family purchase from this company again!!!! I hate having to give them even one star.
This is with deep disgust that I am writing this letter to Hyundai. My familys loyalty toward Hyundai started in the year 1999 with the first generation Santro. From there, we have possessed Accent which was bought by my brother, two Verna first generation, etc. and finally we have gone for a Fluidic Verna in the year 2011. I possessed a white Verna SX CRDI ABS, which was the top variant in the year 2008. The reason for top model with ABS was due to the utmost safety concerns. But I had 3 instances of accident with my car which was due to ineffective ABS. This complaint I have raised with The Popular Motor World delegates in Cochin, Kottayam, Muvattupuzha centers in Kerala but they could not help me on the same.I had spent thousands of bucks on service after the other but the result was the same. Now, my car has covered 75,000 kilometers and even last week, I was about to meet with an accident owing to the problem of the ABS. Now, delegates in the service department is suggesting me to change the ABS Sensor. Brand loyalty is exercised by a customer due to various factors among which I believe the most important one is service quality and the ownership the company takes to give customer delight. But now when I turned back, I am surprised to find that passenger car market had given me numerous option to choose from but still I was loyal to Hyundai and all due to that decision I am now having a tough time. None of the brands are built in a day and I strongly believe that quality is not an accident but an outcome of conscious and continuous effort. Please help me to come out of this issue. Thank you.
I bought three cars from Hyundai. I bought a 2015 Tucson with 27,000 miles on it. At 64000 the engine blew. There is a class action lawsuit regarding my vehicle but it is Vin specific even though its within the year of the engine blowing. Hyundai only cover half I had to cover the rest over $4,000 for a new engine. I will never buy another Hyundai again. Their cars are junk and they dont take care of their customers.
We have a 2012 Hyundai Sonata Limited with 30000 kms on it and it has been at the dealership in Fredericton, NB for 7 weeks now waiting for a wiring harness which was diagnosed after replacing the computer and fuel pump. The engine light continues to come on time after time. The wiring harness arrived this week after 7 weeks only to discover Hyundai sent the wrong one after being hand made in Korea. Now they tell me they have another one coming from Alabama, amazing how that got there. On top of this problem, since we bought the car new, we have had constant steering problems with the car which cant seem to be fixed, along with the alternator pulsating and the battery going dead. After contacting Hyundai Canada several times, I keep getting the run around and they will not put me in contact with someone that has some decision making power. This car is unsafe to be on the road as it self accelerates when the engine light is on.
I recently and painfully purchased a new elantra limited. Painfully, because of all the runaround I encountered and despite having researched extensively, still having gotten screwed financially. Dont look for any fairness at Hyundai in Pittsburgh, cause they wear you out with the run around, even if youre trading in a Hyundai sonata that was supposed to keep its value. The sale price for the car may be $21000, but it ended up costing me over $25000 with a trade in. And should I be upset about having blowout flat tire at 533miles, especially when both Hyundai and the tire manufacturer Hankook both deny the defectiveness of their cheap tires? It appears that since Hyundai is dependent on the dealerships to sell their cars, they are Willing to give them some slack on dishonoring the warranties, including on their defective tires. Defective tires can lead to accidents and death! I suppose it will take a certain amount of death to occur before Hyundai takes some action like GM had to. I thought Hyundai was better than that, but apparently not!
I purchased a 2007 Hyundai Tiburon in March of 2011. It currently has 60,312 miles. Whenever the car needs to shift into 2nd gear, it jumps. I have been told that I need a new transmission. Being that I am not the first owner of this car, the 100,000 mile warranty does not apply. Being that the mileage is so low, I feel that the transmission should have not gone out so soon. This is my first purchase of a Hyundai. Ill never buy one again. Next time Ill stick with Subaru.
I purchased my first brand new Hyundai Excel in 1988 and it is still on the road so I took a shot and purchased a brand new Hyundai Accent. The Hyundai Accent runs smoothly and most of all, is not a gas-guzzler. Because I still have the Excel and other vehicles, I do not drive the Accent during the winter months. What I enjoy most about the Hyundai Accent, is yes, it gets great gas mileage but it drives like a luxury vehicle with lots of speed. Colorado roads are in bad need of repair but the Accent drives over most of the unavoidable potholes with ease. The drivers seat is comfortable as well as both the front and back passenger seats. I highly recommend the Accent because it has not caused me any major problems. I keep up with the general maintenance of oil change and tire rotation. I think the makers of Hyundai are doing a great job!
I co-signed for a car for a relative whose car got repossessed. They sold the car at an auction for $6,000.00. Now they have placed a lien on my car because I cannot come up with roughly $13,000.00 for the car that was repossessed. I have been making monthly payments until I get it resolved ($13.000.00). I have never been late/ahead on my 2011 Hyundai Tucson. They have been unwilling to cooperate with me about this issue.I corresponded in writing (30 days in advance). Im permanently disabled & on a set salary. They said to contact them within 30 days, which I did, & heard nothing from them. I have paid $1,600.00 toward the repossession. Now they have placed a lien on my car. I replied to them in writing, no phone, & have not heard anything. I told them I could not obligate myself for a set amount because of medicine, doctor bills, medical bills, & daily living expenses in this economy. Like I said, I have heard nothing in writing from them. I am supposed to cooperate with them, while in return they have not assisted me. I signed 2 cars from them.
My 2012 Hyundai Elantra Limited was 11 months old when I took it to a dealership due to my concern with rust in two different spots on the front edge of the hood. They said that they would need to take pictures and get a decision from their Hyundai rep. It was the middle of October before I finally heard from anyone (after making numerous phone calls) to learn that they had declined to repair the problem stating it was the result of rock chips which arent covered by their warranty. During the prolonged wait for an answer, a third spot of rust erupted on the front fender near the headlight, and there is nothing to indicate it was the result of a rock chip. According to the warranty, the paint is covered for three years; however, it doesnt cover rock chips.I understand this but my problem isnt that the car has rock chips. Every car Ive ever owned has had rock chips. My problem with Hyundais assessment is that the so-called rock chips have rusted so quickly, spread under the paint, which is blistering and falling off along with the other spot where there is not a rock chip. I have owned at least 10 cars in my lifetime and not one of them has ever rusted like that. I paid for additional coverage when I bought this car, as well as some Paint Seal protection that the dealership said they put on all new cars. It obviously didnt work, to the tune of an extra $200. My husbands car is over 25 years old, still has the original paint, and although it has rock chips, not one of them is rusting to this day. I suspect that I am not the only Hyundai owner with this complaint. Hyundai is making it a policy not to cover any repairs under their so-called warranty. What am I supposed to expect after another two or three years and I have another warranty claim? Am I going to have this fight with Hyundai every time? This is a simple fix and yet they are telling me that if a pebble hits my car, I should expect it to rust immediately and its my problem. In addition, my seatbelt retractor on the passengers side stays locked. It has been this way since I purchased the car. When taking the car to the dealership to have the rust issues assessed, I told them about the issue with the seatbelt retractor. After first telling me they could not fix it since the problem seemed to be intermittent, they finally agreed to replace it after my husband was able to easily reproduce the problem. I returned on Oct. 18 and they replaced it. After leaving the dealership, I realized that the new seatbelt retractor was also locking up. It locks when you snap it on and in order to do anything, such as reach for the radio, open the glove box, etc, you must undo the seatbelt. This occurs repeatedly so you are continuously snapping and unsnapping your seatbelt. I immediately turned the car around and took it back to Jeff Wyler. They said they would need to contact Hyundai since they already replaced it with a new seatbelt retractor and would get back with me.Today is Oct. 25th. Once again, I am waiting for them to call me and let me know what the next step is so I can have a working passenger side seatbelt. I have never had this problem with any other auto manufacturers warranty. I have owned two Chevys prior to this, and Chevrolet bent over backwards to make sure my concerns were taken care of quickly and with respect. I switched to Hyundai because of their supposed unbeatable 10-year warranty, but apparently, it is meaningless since they wont honor it. I am so frustrated at this point because this terrible experience has left me hating my new car which Im stuck with while it slowly rusts away from a couple of rock chips along with an unusable passengers side seatbelt. I also want to add that this car is rarely driven and kept in a garage. After owning it now for one year and one month, this car has only 6200 miles. I have subsequently filed a complaint through the BBBs Autoline, which is the recommended procedure in Hyundai Owners Manual and Warranty Booklet. Thank you.
On March 19, 2014, around 2pm I was driving home from my place of work in Temecula, CA, where my car had been off & parked for at least three hours. I was northbound on Highway 15, between Murrieta Hot Springs and California Oaks Road, in my 2011 Hyundai Sonata. The car seemed to be driving fine until suddenly the car immediately starting smoking from under the hood and as I was pulling over to the side of the freeway, flames emerged. As soon as I pulled over and put the car in park, I hopped out hoping it wouldnt blow up with me inside. Then, after multiple failed attempts to extinguish the fire, it finally went out with the help of a few good Samaritans. Im extremely thankful, my fiancee and baby girl were not in the car with me. According to the incident report, it was the fuel line that had failed. Yet according to the Hyundai reps who have contacted me since towing my car to Hyundai in Temecula, they cannot determine the cause of the fire. Ive done some extensive research on similar occurrences only to find out that there have been multiple unresolved fires in Hyundai Sonatas around the US. After 2 months of a thorough investigation on my vehicle, they sent me a letter stating they had no idea what caused the fire. So, they cannot agree that the fire was caused by the vehicle. Ive found plenty others with the same issue. Can you say CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT!?
While driving at 70 miles an hour on I-87 using cruise control, the car jerked, check engine light came on and the car completely stopped accelerating. There was no response when pressing the gas pedal. Luckily, we were near an exit. We were not rear ended by a truck and were able shift lanes and to roll off and put our hazard lights on. On the exit, the car came to a dead stop. After checking the engine, we turned it off and the car started back up. And we were able to drive to a local service station concerned about driving any farther. The mechanic was able to determine there was an error code related to the throttle control. On restarting the car, the engine lights reset and the car ran normally. We continued on our trip. When we returned home, we brought the car to the Hyundai dealer where it was purchased to service the car. After they examined the car, we were told there was nothing they could do as there were no error codes in memory. They said that we should continue to drive it until it happened again. When I mentioned that there was a technical service bulletin regarding the throttle sensor and it should be either replaced or tested, I was told that they could not do anything until an error was recorded in the memory of the computer. It was because Hyundai USA would not cover anything under warranty, even though this was a serious safety concern and would most likely to occur again. When I asked if it was likely to occur again, I was told most likely it would happen soon and to be careful.A month later, when traveling on a long trip, it happened again on the Taconic State Parkway in New York. I was traveling at about 65 miles per hour. This time there was no shoulder. But I was able to partially pull off the road and put on my hazard lights as cars drove by and avoided hitting mine. Based on my prior experience, I turned the car off and was able to restart and move again. This same situation occurred four (4) more times as I was able to get my car finally back home to the Hyundai dealer to service the car.The Hyundai dealer replaced both the throttle sensor and the pedal assembly. The car appears to be working properly for the last two weeks. Having researched the problem with acceleration, I have learned that many others have experienced this similar and potentially dangerous problem. After speaking with other Hyundai service technicians, I was told off the record that this was not an uncommon problem. As the sensor is less than $85, I am not sure why Hyundai did not address this problem when I first brought the car or as a recall. The consequences could be much more serious.
I brought my 2008 Sonata in 2009 from Carmax in MD, one previous owner and low mileage. When I took it to my mechanic (Sams Auto Repair), they say it was a cam sensor problem then said it was 2 quarts low on oil. The engine light came back on after driving 10 miles and noise got worse, so I towed it to a Hyundai dealership. They said that the engine had noise from the bottom and top due to it not getting enough oil. They will charge me $5,500 for a rebuilt engine and install it. They said that the possibility of a defective engine was moot because I didnt have documented receipts for my oil changes.
I took my 2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid to the dealership for warranty repairs. The dealership kept my vehicle for two months before doing any repair. They completed the defective steering and denied the defective motor that went out at approx 58,000 miles. They did not respond to my request for a repair estimate or loaner vehicle. They did not call me to update me at ALL! I then received a certified letter stating if my vehicle was not removed from their lot within 30 days they would sell my vehicle at auction. My vehicle is not safe to drive. The defects were reported as soon as discovered while under warranty. I am obtaining legal counsel and would advise anyone who has to deal with Hyundai to do the same. They are unethical and their threat against me is unlawful. This has been probably one of the worst experiences in my life including my battle with cancer!!!HORRIBLE company from service department - dealership - to Hyundai corporate. They know their motors are no good yet deny warranty across the board. They recalled approximately a half million Sonatas for the same problem mine has. The motor seized and they are blaming the owners for lack of maintenance. I had regular oil changes every 3000 to 5000 miles. DO NOT LET THEM GET AWAY WITH IT - GET AN ATTORNEY.
My new Hyundai Tucson 2019, 43000 kM, had transmission issue, they do not have parts to fix it, they do not know when the parts will be available, one week and still they do not have an idea when the parts will arrive, even it is under warranty, I called Hyundai directly, but they no information about expected arrival time for my car parts, useless and helpless, I do not recommend anyone to buy Hyundai in future.
Sad and Disappointed, Hyundai Customer support sucks. Have been writing to them for over 2 months. Zero product knowledge. Customer service guys call back and talk to me asking, What car you want to buy? They look at the car for First time. I doubt they even work for Hyundai. I know more about Hyundai than these guys and have been driving Hyundai for 17 years, no more! Trading in for new Tesla. At least the Brand cares for its customers!!!
Hyundai was unable to assist me in a dispute with the car dealership. I was sold a leased car disguised in a balloon contract. The dealership also lied about the disposition fee, accepted to cut a check for it, then changed their mind. I have tried numerous times to get a hold of somebody from Hyundai and Hyundai Consumer Affairs, but they were powerless. They could not help me and they were unable to reach their own reselling dealership. Had a horrible experience so far and this will make me choose a different company for my next car(s). The car is decent, but the experience dealing with Hyundai is nothing but deplorable.
I have purchased 3 new Hyundais in the last 4 1/2 years. I would consider myself a loyal customer. On 8/19/18 I stopped at Jenkins Hyundai in Ocala, FL. to purchase my 4th Hyundai in 4 1/2 years. I had with me the internet information on the SUV I was going to purchase. Listed below plus the window sticker posted on their website.Detailed Pricing. Stock # : Y5005 / VIN : KM8J33A21JU683376. $30,800MSRP. $1,000Savings. $29,800 No-Haggle Price. $2,500 Hyundai Offer. $500 Hyundai Offer. $26,800 Final Price. $500 Conditional Offer. $500 Conditional Offer. $400 Conditional Offer. When I sat down to purchase the SUV I was told the price was just a little over $35,800 because of the added dealer extras. This information wasnt listed on the website (as you can see above). I came to the dealership to negotiate the price listed above $26,800 and was told I could purchase the SUV for $32,800 plus tags, taxes and a dealer prep fee of $899.00. As you can see above $26,800 Final Price. Only a fool would fall for this scam!I ask why they didnt list the $35,800 on the internet and their answer was we dont have to. This is totally dishonest! In doing some more research on the SUV and cars on the Jenkins lot I discovered most if not all are priced this way and are not listed on the website. They are all similar to the deal I was served up. The bottom line is that the website price is a scam to get you to the dealership so they can rip you off. This was a horrible experience. At previous dealerships when purchasing a Hyundai I was treated with respect and they negotiated in GOOD FAITH! You should be ashamed for having a crooked dealerships like this one!
First of all. My first mistake was buying a used 2011 Hyundai Sonata. The car was OK but then after some time the car started stalling and I had my 4 year old daughter with me. Just when I was getting off the freeway it stalled on me twice. The car would make a clicking noise. Took it to the dealership and they said it had to do something with the steering wheel after I paid for a diagnostic check. Anyways it was too much and they said it didnt affect the car. I only ended up purchasing a new battery. Then my car totally gives up on me and stalls. Doesnt want to turn on anymore. Had to get it towed to Hyundai in Cerritos on the last week of February. It needs a new engine and hyundai is taking care of it and a few other cars with the same issue. And its been quite some time now and still have not received the engine and no update on whats going on with my car. But they did call me 3/25/17 to offer me a SPECIAL offer for this recall campaign due to the inconvenience. And at the dealership they hit me with yes you can get a new car BUT you need to put $3000 down. I understand I would be receiving a good deal (employee discount) but this is not helpful at all. Im struggling not having a car and not getting a loaner. and I reviewed all the complaints... its unbelievable. I should have done research before going with Hyundai. VERY DISAPPOINTED.
I bought Hyundai Sonata Hybrid 2016 brand new to today September 10 2019. I must spent more than $5000 to $7000 on maintenance. The car looks good looking at it but not reliable at at all. It’s sad they can get away with this kind business. The dealership seems like they don’t know anything about this car. I will come with problem and leave with same problem. This is my 6th car. I never had any experience like this.
I bought a 2020 Tuscan Ultimate on Saturday 5/23/2020 from Crain Hyundai Fayetteville and the salesman could not find the navigation SD card and said come back Tuesday and we will have have it for you. I came back on Tuesday and they had one but it didnt fit. He said, I will have to order you one and when you bring your car in for the window tint I will have one. Well took it in last Friday and no SD card. Asked about it and was told they would try and find one if they can. At that point am up set and contact Hyundai directly for one. They give me the navigation company number to call and I did. They were willing to sell me another one. I said no thank you. I want the one I already bought. I called Hyundai consumer affairs back and talked to a case manager named Vanilla and she stated she called the sales manager and he would take care of it and that was all Hyundai was willing to do. 3 week after I bought my Car still no navigation or Blue link due to navigation not working. I filed a Better business bureau claim and got a call from the customer relations manager from the dealership. Found out the SD cad was never ordered and that he personally would make sure it was done. Bottom line Hyundai didnt care and to me it will be the last one I buy. Hope I will get the cars features working one day as they should.
I was just recently in an accident and I was going 40 miles an hour when the accident occurred and the other lady was going around 30 mph, and at the speeds both of us were going, the airbags in my 2005 Hyundai Elantra did not deploy. How hard does a person have to be hit for the bags to deploy? I think this car is one of the cheapest made cars. I can remember when I got caught in a hell storm, the body on my car was beat up really bad. I wont do Hyundai any car again, I dont care how they look.
Starter of my 2011 Hyundai Sonata went out on August 1, 2012. I work in Oakland so I managed to get it back to Fresno. I took it to Lithia Hyundai Service department. Heath ** was the assigned service advisor. He said they will take a look and get back to me. Well, Lithia replaced the starter and said there was a recall on something regarding the starter. I picked up my car on August 3rd. While driving on August 6th, without warning, smoke started coming from hood area and shortly after a flame. I managed to pull off road to a parking lot where the car died. I immediately called AAA to tow to Lithia. While waiting, I took pictures. Service department was closed so I left in lot until morning. I returned to tell what happened. Heath said they would take a look. He called 20-30 minutes later to tell me engine has hole.Mind you, in returning my car the first time from the starter repair, I was told and given paperwork stating everything else was good. He recommended two tires, an air filter, and front brakes. He assured me everything else was okay. Now one month later, I called to find out whats going on with my car. Heath told me he wants to repair because he can make $7,000. I needed to bring him a receipt of my oil change. I have done that and my car is still sitting in service department at Lithia Hyundai. I called every week but get he hasnt heard from Hyundai yet. I asked him to call me when he does, the pictures hes sending and he didnt comply. He told me it would be done by the afternoon. I went to Lithia and my car was still sitting outside in back of shop. I went back on Saturday and it was on a lift.Heath was not in and no one else could answer my questions. I was told everybody handles their own cases. I returned that Monday and Heath told me he sent pictures and docs. I asked for copy. He refused. He just gave me pictures. I dont know whose car that was from. I have since called every week. He said he has no answer yet. I have been away from work since August 2nd. On August 24th, I lost my job of 18 years. I am not a happy camper. My car is new and has little mileage and it should not have caught fire.
