2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5

Find big savings on Hyundai Automobile(s) at Auto Helpers. Low Prices.

The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a sleek and well-rounded electric crossover designed to blend retro-modern styling with functional everyday use and cutting-edge EV tech.

Available in two battery options, it offers a 58 kWh Standard Range pack or a 77.4 kWh Long Range pack in both rear-wheel drive and the optional dual-motor all-wheel-drive configuration. The rear-drive Long Range model delivers roughly 303 horsepower and around 303 lb-ft of torque, with an estimated EPA range of about 310 miles. AWD variants provide around 320 horsepower and closer to 270 miles of range, depending on wheel size and trim.

Fast charging supports up to 220 kW via the 800‑volt architecture, enabling a 10 – 80 percent charge in as little as 18 minutes; home charging on a Level 2 charger fills the battery overnight in roughly 7 to 9 hours.

Interior space is generously laid out. The flat-floor cabin with sliding rear seats and a movable center console provides exceptional flexibility. Cargo capacity spans from about 27 cu ft behind the rear seats to about 59 cu ft with those seats folded. Front seat passengers enjoy roughly 45 inches of legroom and rear passengers see around 42 inches.

Tech is robust and user-friendly. A dual-screen setup includes a 12.3‑inch floating infotainment display and a 12.3‑inch digital gauge cluster. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 5G hotspot, ambient lighting, over‑the‑air software updates, and a solar-charged roof option (which adds a small daily boost to range) are available on higher trims. The cabin features sustainable materials such as vegan leather and recycled trim surfaces.

Driving experience is engaging. The steering feels precise, braking is strong and confidence-inspiring thanks to regenerative modes, and ride quality is smooth and compliant even with available 20-inch wheels. Driving modes include Eco, Normal, Sport, and Snow, plus Smart mode that dynamically adjusts throttle and regen based on usage patterns.

Safety and driver assistance are comprehensive across trims and include forward collision mitigation, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise with stop-and-go support, blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, and available Highway Driving Assist for semi-autonomous highway driving in select markets.

Trim levels typically include SE, SEL, Limited, and Limited AWD, with higher trims offering premium touches like leather upholstery, ventilated seats, Bose audio, tow hitch package, and a head-up display. Pricing starts around US $43,000 for the base RWD model and climbs near US $60,000 for top-tier AWD variants with full feature content.

User feedback praises the Ioniq 5 for its roomy layout, intuitive tech, spirited electric performance, and fast charging capability. Some note that cabin noise at highway speeds can be slightly higher than expected and that rear visibility is modest behind the sloping hatch design.

Overall, the 2025 Ioniq 5 remains a standout among EV crossovers with its mix of retro-futuristic design, practical space, strong driving range, and forward-thinking features. Let me know if you’d like Canadian specs, trim comparisons, or notes on towing or winter range.

I just purchased a certified 2010 Sonata, with 59,000 miles on it, at Northtowne Hyundai in Gladstone Missouri. I brought the car to the dealerships service department to complain about a loud tapping sound coming from the top of the engine. I suspect it is a lifter issue. The service manager immediately dismissed the sound as fuel injector noise and stated that it was normal.I recently sold my 1995 Chrysler LHS (fuel injected) with 220,000 mile on it and never heard such a noise. If you are anyone else who heard the volume of this tapping, you would be concerned also! !

The worst ever - they never know what is actually owed. They ask for the next months payment in advance of due date. The hold time is ridiculous. Customer service representatives are complete idiots. I will never buy another Hyundai. I think their banking standards are substandard. I question their legitimacy. I believe they are fraudulent. I asked for a statement representing my payment history. It did not match my bank records. I requested it a second time and again it did not reflect what was paid on my bank statements. I asked what the final payoff would be at the end of the lease on 3 separate occasions and got 3 different answers. Avoid Hyundai motor financing at all cost, I will in the near future.

In August 2015, I purchased a 2015 Hyundai Tucson in 2015. I have had all routine maintenance done and the car has 86,000 miles on it. No mechanic has ever told me of any engine issues or potential engine issues. Two weeks ago, I was driving home at 10:00 PM. Without warning, my engine seized and my car stalled in the middle of a very busy, dangerous intersection. Thanks to the assistance of my father and a good Samaritan, I was able to get my car out of the road and I was able to get safely home. However, this had the potential to be extremely dangerous for myself and other drivers on the road.I took my car to a local Hyundai dealership and I was told by a certified Hyundai mechanic that I would need a new engine. I immediately contacted the Hyundai Customer Care Center and I was told that because I am not the original owner, they will not honor the 10-year/100,000 mile warranty. I was told they might honor the limited warranty, but I would need to come up with records of every oil change I have had on the car. Other than that, they have been of no assistance to me. I am beyond frustrated and furious at this point. This is not an issue of user error, this is clearly a defect on the part of the manufacturer and they should be the ones resolve the problem. I consider myself an informed consumer, and I would not have purchased this car if I had known this was a possibility.

This is reference to Hyundai Head Office Consumer Complaints. On a recent service visit to my local Hyundai Dealer I was told that my car had quite an alignment problem that would cost $130.00 to fix. The tech could find no sign of me rubbing a curb or any other reason why my car would be out of alignment with only 23000km. When I called head office to complain and to get an explanation on why my car would be out of alignment after only 23000km they could give me no reason and had no interest in solving this issue. They did not offer to call the dealership and ask the techs any questions and did nothing more than log the complaint. The person I talked to had no knowledge of any kind and is there only to log the complaint in their computer system. Hyundai Consumer complaint is a joke and a worthless phone number to have. I have dealt with other car companies in the past with always excellent results and for this reason this will be the first and last Hyundai car I will purchase.

I had to laugh when I read Hyundais stated goal which they claim is to create satisfied customers, because this has not been our experience at all. In fact, my wife and I have made a promise to each other to never buy another vehicle from this dealership or another Hyundai period. I have to tell you, we usually buy new vehicles every 2-3 years because we dont want to deal with any service issues as we are busy people. Changing oil and general maintenance is about as much as we care to deal with. We normally purchase our vehicles from Toyota. In 30 years we had never had trouble them! In fact, we never had to do more than oil changes and basic care. They never broke down, all their parts worked at all times and we never got a lemon. We were so satisfied that although we wanted to try a Honda last time we were apprehensive. However, we LOVED our CRV! I miss it, and regret trading it in because unlike the Hyundai, it worked! Our CRV required mechanical assistance once in the first five years! Very shortly after the warranty expired the transmission went out! I was horrified, because I knew my warranty was up but Honda didnt think it was fair as our warranty had just ran out. Not only did they fix it free of charge, it was too new so they could not find a rebuilt transmission and put in a brand new transmission! That is the level of service we are use to, and we have found Hyundai to be the exact opposite! Our experience has been disappointing at best. We have been lied to, deceived, laughed at and disrespected. We got the runaround from the very beginning when we agreed to allow the salesman run our credit for a particular vehicle. We made it very clear that this was the vehicle we were interested in. In fact, we refused to let him run it until we picked out the vehicle we wanted to buy...then in the middle of the deal our salesman got up and left and another one came out to finish the deal. This shady salesman made the first kid look like an angel. This guy switched us into a vehicle that had more wear and mileage without our consent. My husband was exhausted after they wore us down for hours and decided to just get the car, but then we noticed that things were not working on the way home...both sales people said that I could plug my iPhone into the USB to charge it. We travel a lot and this was the main feature that had us interested in this model and it was the deciding factor on buying from Hyundai. The second salesman told us that he knew the owner personally and that the owner prided himself on providing excellent customer service and that he had his number and if he was unable to help us with any issues we could call the owner himself and he would take care of it. I later asked for the owners phone number and was laughed at and refused the number. However, that USB port was the initial reason why we chose the Hyundai instead of some of the other vehicles we had looked at around town. When we purchased the vehicle I asked about a second key and the salesman assured me he just needed to look for it and that it was there...because he had it earlier that day. When I reminded him we needed that other key fob, he looked for it and claimed it was missing and assured me that they could simply make us a new one real quick. I was concerned. He never found it. Now I am even more concerned because it is totally possible that these unethical people that I dealt with may have said key fob! After the deal was done, the story changed so we would have to make an appointment to get that key fob made. We reminded the salesperson again before leaving and he said he would call with an appointment time.On the way home we found something else wrong in the vehicle. We were never allowed to even test drive or choose ourselves! That USB port did not work at all! I was told that I could charge my iPhone with this USB port. I asked several times if they were sure it would work with my iPhone 5C and was assured that it would. I was upset because we made it clear that we wanted to buy a new car and I was assured that this vehicle was never used for anything but test drives. I dont know of many dealerships that allow animals on test drives. Yet, the air conditioner was blowing out pet fur! Upon further inspection I found dog or cat fur all over... I am allergic to cats and most dogs unless they have hair instead of fur and this was fur. Also, on the way home we stopped at the store and planned to stop a few more places as well but we could not get the back hatch to lock...which was a security and safety concern. I called and most of my concerns were dismissed and made light of. The second salesperson (they switched in the middle of the deal) did not believe there was dog hair so he wanted us to bring the car back to show him, so we did, driving all the way back to Bend. I think he knew it was there all along but figured we would just not want to hassle with it. I was insulted as he made it sound as if I was a liar which took a lot of nerve after just making one deceitful claim after another to us. He made me think that we could exchange the car for another new car and this was the only reason we agreed to that drive. He acknowledged the presence of dog hair and did not know how that got there. We do not own any pets. He basically did nothing to assist us at that time and thus the trip was a waste of our time. He promised to make an appointment to have the fur removed and all scents removed and to have car mats installed. The salesman called to say he made an appointment to have the car treated to eliminate scents and hair, have the USB port fixed and the back latch fixed. After calling to insure the parts were in we arrived at the appointment and were asked, Oh did you make this appointment online? All of the parts were not there but they said they could replace the key fob and that they kept the mats in stock and they did not need to be ordered as the salesperson stated! However, the machine used to get out the hair and scent was never arranged.I was there all day long. They wanted me to make yet another appointment to finish the work. Then they wanted me to leave my vehicle for a few days so they could order the part again and get it fixed. Its a good thing I did not agree to that because it was at least two weeks before they called back! My husband did not trust them by that point anyways and flat out refused to let me leave the vehicle there. They claimed that the treatment for the hair would take most the day so I suggested that they just fix the latch and the key fob and make it right in some way as I had picked most of the hair out of the vehicle myself by the time of the appointment (resulting in an asthma attack). I could not drive it the way it was and had to do something. That day they literally had not done anything all day long. The key fob was not fixed, they said they ordered a defective one and they needed to reorder that... The only thing that was in and all they did all day long was to put in car mats that would have taken less than five minutes yet they made me wait several hours...only to tell me that I would have to make an appointment and return to Bend...yet again. Before they even started I asked them if they had the parts and was told yes. This has been a huge waste of my time for a car I never wanted. I wanted the one we test drove that they sold out from under us. This is hardly a way to make a customer satisfied! So, we came back today and guess what? Even though we checked twice this time to make sure parts were in, they were not! We were lied to time and time again. I have the messages from both incidents and both messages say all of these parts are in...yet they were not. Yep, we got there today after calling and speaking with Mr. Nasty Tude, I mean Mr. ** and was assured once again that the parts were in. When we arrived ** was there and we told them we had a bad experience last time and wanted to make sure all the parts were really there before they started as we did not have time to waste. He was rude which just added to our frustration. My husband told him that I had already spoken to someone in Corporate and to just leave the hatch alone and fix the USB. He gave me a smart ** acknowledgement and held out his hand for the keys. It was a good half hour before they took the car back even though they were not busy and there was no vehicle in the bay they pulled it into. ** was nasty saying we must have made this appointment online...that seems to be the standard answer for everything in your non-service department. We did not make this appointment online.WE did not want to make another wasted trip to Bend so even though after two weeks they finally called to tell us that the part was in we called back before leaving for the appointment this morning to insure that the parts were indeed there. We asked ** when we arrived and he said all of the parts were there, they were not but he did not care and said we would have to make another appointment to come back. When we told him that we called ahead of time to insure the parts were in and checked with him when we got there he got even ruder and said that he wanted us to leave and never come back into the service department/dealership. Not a problem! But please know that I will be reviewing this dealership and that this time I will contact corporate in writing for legal purposes. Please note that I have not forgotten my promises to add reviews. I have a draft ready to go and my husband is currently working on the complaint for the BBB. We have given your dealerships more opportunities that it deserves. We would love to prevent this, we want you to make this right, go back to the beginning and give us the vehicle we ran our credit to purchase. The same one or a 2015 model that is brand new without scratches, dirt, dog or cat hair, etc. We should not have to deal with defective parts, as we purchased a new vehicle, not a used one! Written promises were made and part of our purchase agreement. The dealership failed to meet these and therefore it cancels this contract and we want our Honda back within 7 business days or we will take legal action. We have given the dealership many opportunities to make this right with no resolution and have been treated with grave disrespect. This is the worst car dealer I have ever dealt with and I will be filing a claim with the BBB.

I have called over 50 times (if you count all the times I was hung up on due to their hi-tech phone system). The buyer of the car is demanding his title and rightfully so. They keep telling me it is in the mail. They have great cars/SUVs, the worst service ever! I have been lied to every time I call. They said this time the title will arrive on Wed. 12/5/12. PLEASE read this before you go purchase a vehicle from Hyundai Vacaville. My husband and I researched the new Hyundai Veloster and decided it was something we were interested in, the only problem was that to even look at one we would have to take the drive out to Vacaville, we were greeted by Dean and took the only one on the lot for a test drive. We fell in love with it, the next step was agreeing on a price. We played the haggling game (I did my research). We came to an agreement and up next was FINANCE. Let me start by saying we have excellent credit so this next step wasnt a concern, unfortunately we sat down with the shadiest crooked finance guy (GREG **). Im aware of the stuff they try to push on you i.e. extra maintenance, Gap and paint protection, we just wanted the car. We did opt for the car paint protection because as Greg put it its only $4 a month. Move forward less than 24 hours later we spoke to Dean from the dealership and said we changed our mind about the paint protection and would like it removed from the contract, Dean informed us that Greg was not in, but hes let him know and get back to me. Fast forward to Wednesday, no return call from Dean, I called and spoke to Dean direly and asked again about removing the added OPTIONAL paint protection, he said he spoke to Greg and it was too late. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE, I called less than 24 hours after. After many phone calls to Hyundai customer service I got nowhere. I decided to read through all my paperwork, lo and behold GREG ** not only were we stuck with the paint protection he also added GAP coverage, I specifically told him we would be paying off the car, why would I need GAP. Fortunately for me I caught it in time but the process to get it removed will not be easy. Long story short PLEASE take the extra time to go through every page of your paperwork and dont let anyone like GREG ** bully you into signing for any extras. May your next car buying experience be a happy one.

It runs very easily in traffic and has plenty of capability when given a clear road to play on. The main issues I have with the vehicle are fairly minor, although some could potentially be a major issues. When creating a rear deck for transporting items, the rear passenger seats dont fold down perfectly flat. I ended up building my own slide-in deck to compensate for the slightly lifted rear passenger seats. The adaptive cruise control seems a bit laggy adapting, but that is probably why the manual says it cant be trusted if theres a difference in speed between vehicles over 35 mph.I also live in California where motorcycle lane splitting is legal. The problem is it can confuse the adaptive cruise control. Very frequently Ill be going 40 mph (rush hour traffic on a freeway) and a motorcyclist will blast by in between the lanes at 60+ mph. About 50% of the time the cruise control will start tracking the lane-splitting bike and suddenly accelerate, potentially causing my vehicle to smash into the vehicle ahead of it which is only going 40 mph. Fortunately, the cruise control has always been buggy enough so I typically keep it on a short leash anyway, ready to brake. But it is a potentially dangerous annoyance. Im not sure whether its just bad luck, but my Santa Fe has been broken into more in the first year of ownership than in all the other vehicles Ive had since I started driving 40+ years ago. Its probably because its new looking and its an SUV which has no lockable trunk. But here is the problem with the vehicle: In all cases when my vehicle has been broken into, Ive been less than 100 to 50 feet away and heard nothing. In the last instance, I heard glass breaking but no alarm. As far as I can tell the alarm is useless. The blinking light on the dash is just a bad joke. Im definitely looking into some aftermarket alarms now. If there had been an alarm, as it claims to have, then I would have been alerted and been able to stop the burglary. I know this to be true because I stopped a theft on my prior vehicle because its horn went off when the window was broken, and I ran right out and chased off the burglar before he was able to carry off anything. Also, although I know this a problem of all SUVs, it would be nice to have a secure, lockable cargo area. As it is, anyone breaking into the car can easily steal anything as there is no place to hide anything, except the glove compartment. Also, when I see vehicles that have been in rear-end accidents, the vehicle doing the rear-ending usually takes most of the damage, with a crumpled hood and such. When my Hyundai was rear-ended at low speed by a sedan half its size, my SUV somehow got most of the damage. The auto repair shop sent the insurance company a $5000 bill. Which it paid, but still that suggests a fairly serious bumper design issue. Even the first vehicle I owned from 1980, a Toyota Tercel, would have not sustained that much damage if it had been hit similarly in the rear. Of course it also had thick rubber bumpers, but still, this is a $45K vehicle.

I purchased a brand new 2017 Hyundai Tucson on Nov 29 2018. Right now it only has 14300 kms on it. I was driving down a divided highway 6 in the morning with no one else on it besides myself and my child in the vehicle when my rear window exploded into my car sending glass all over my 2 yr old in his car seat. I was right in front of the Police station when it happened and no one was around... Hyundai says that it came from a impact but since I was the only one on the road there was no way that I could have got hit in the rear window. I took pics and brought the car to the dealership and gave them it to them... THEY NEVER even inspected my vehicle, they just emailed the pics to head office where they said it was from a impact. HOW DO YOU TELL THAT IT WAS FROM A IMPACT WHEN YOU NEVER EVEN LOOKED AT THE CAR TO SEE. I have called places that repairs windows like speedy glass and they even said that it could be from a short in the defrost in the rear window that caused it to explode. Since this happened I have had no satisfaction with this broken rear windshield... Myself and my child were very startled and no one from Hyundai has even done anything but send a email off. I am so very disgusted in the complete lack of everything. This has to be the worst service I have ever had... They never even offered to look over the car, never offered a loaner to get around in and never even offered to make sure the rear window was sealed up so the snow and rain would not get in.Right now I would never buy a car from Hyundai again. My child is scared to even go near this little toy cars because of the fright. I am even afraid of putting him back into the car because if it is a short in the electrical that caused the window to explode, will cause it to happen again... I hope that this message tells the truth behind the LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE. All I want is my rear windshield replaced at no cost to me... And I want people to actually look over the problem before they say what caused it. YOU CANT SAY WHAT HAPPENED THROUGH A PIC AND NOT LOOK AT THE PROBLEM ITSELF... I can keep going on about this but I think I made my point. I hope that something gets done with this message.

The Hyundai headlights do no illuminate higher than 4-5 feet on level ground. Most street name signs are 6-8 feet high and cannot be seen at night. The problem is caused by the top of the light being blocked by the hood/fender overlap. High beams do work better but not by much and are dangerous to oncoming traffic. The service people say it is by design and cannot be changed. One mechanic said to add another set of lights. Why not just alter the headlight insert itself to alter the light pattern and be easy to replace the original? I am not able to see street names at night, and there is no help offered by Hyundai. I am sure I am not alone. Some of your people (much younger than me or my wife) have the same complaint. Do some elementary engineering to resolve this dangerous situation.

On 8/8/2017 my Hyundai Elantra vehicle started clunking as a way getting on to the highway. After pulling over, I saw a huge puddle of oil that was leaking out of my vehicle. After having it towed and inspected I was told that something let loose in the engine and blew a hole right through. This was after only going through a puddle but then having all parts affect cleaned out. A week later this is what happens. I have never owned a vehicle where the engine had to be replaced so quickly. It is only a 2015 with 109,000 miles approximately. I had a previous 2010 Hyundai that surpassed that mileage. I believe that something is defective in the way they have made these engines in newer year models. Everyone should be aware of this before purchasing because I am now spending thousands of dollars after only 2 years of owning the vehicle on top of being stuck with a significant amount due on my car loan.

I am the original owner of a 2012 Hyundai Elantra GLS 6 speed manual, and the car currently have slightly over 150,000 miles. About 10 months ago I made my first attempt to get my car evaluated for rust spots that I noticed in various places (under side of the hood, gas fill cap area and frame above the muffler). Mostly spots are under the paint. I filed a complaint and obtained a case number. Despite having case number almost every time I called I had to explain the issue over and over again. I got a very little cooperation from the local Hyundai dealer (Branhaven Hyundai formerly Quality Hyundai) and a very slow response from Hyundai Motors of America. {and did not have anyone to contact most of the time}. The official response from Hyundai Motors of America came by mail only 6 months later denying warranty coverage. Only now after I got the letter I was able to get the name and address so I can file small claims writ for the cost of the repair and false advertisement. The official Hyundai website positing warranty coverage of 7 years unlimited miles, but for some reason my car did not stand in that guidance even if its only 5 years old. If you owned the same model vehicle Hyundai Elantra 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2014 ask your local oil change place or mechanic to look underneath the frame and see if you have the same problem and if you do please report it to your local Hyundai dealer. Please see attached pictures and if anyone else experienced a similar problem please share it. Its impossible that Im the only one experiencing the problem. I am from Connecticut so we do have salt on the road but I own other cars and none of them got rust like that even after 10 years.

I am so dissatisfied. The kbb value of this car is horrible. They have fixed the transmission under warranty and will be fixing the engine, however who is to say that it wont happen again especially since they have no idea why the both blew in the first place. SO DISAPPOINTED IN THIS company.

I stumbled upon this website when reading about tires, and was surprised to see virtually every car company with such horrendous reviews. Then I realized its merely a sounding board for angry people with car troubles. I just wanted to share a little about my little 2013 Elantra GT. I bought it new, have done all maintenance in my garage, have used nothing but full synthetic oil and Hyundai brand parts (filters, etc to avoid warranty issues), and in return? Its been hands down the best car Ive ever owned. Nothing has failed in the first 3 years, 40,000 miles. No car Ive ever owned has accomplished that. It rides like its brand new, no squeaks, no rattles, no nothing. Comfortable as can be, averages 32 in the city, 36 on the highway. Ive owned many compacts in my life, none have come even close to this level of ride quality. Simply put, we love the car. Its our first Hyundai, and we would buy another in a heartbeat. And basically, this is merely a message to take everything you read online with a grain of salt. Including my review. Occasionally, youre going to get a car thats awful. I had one. 2012 Impala, kept it 9 months. It went back to the garage under warranty 11 times in those 9 months. Eventually, you just have to make a judgment call. Do you keep a car thats been nothing but problems? Or do you try something else. We now own a Hyundai and a Nissan and have been thrilled with them. Will I ever buy another Chevrolet? Sure! I just got a lemon. It happens. It totally stinks, but it happens.

My wife and I just purchased a 2013 Hyundai Azera in November 2013. Since then we have had numerous complaints with the vehicle in and out of the service department. Keep in mind the dealership is 90 miles one way and a rental vehicle was only offered one time to us out of the several trips we had to make. Let me start with noise up over the driver sun visor. The service department could never find and still to this day the noise can still be heard. Two of the wheels the clear coat started to come off. They did not want to replace the wheels and by stating that it was a product we must had used on them when washing the car. Needless to say I became very angry and we did receive two new wheels after the fact. The vehicle being 8 months old with 27,000 miles one of the tires are so worn and legally should not be on the road. The other three tires are worn but not worn as bad. Tires with 27,000 miles should have more tread on them. This vehicle gets serviced and tires rotated every 3,000 miles and all services have been scheduled at the dealership where we purchased the vehicle but one. The service department at the dealership is the worst we have ever had to come in contact with. You have two people telling you two different things regarding the tire tread. Alignment was good and was told we needed to contact Hankook the tire company and this was not a Hyundai problem. Hyundai is the one that contracted Hankook to put these tires on the car so I feel this is Hyundais problem. The chrome molding around the two back passenger windows is popping off. The dealership mentioned on the service print out that both moldings were loose but is only going to replace the driver side molding. I guess the passenger side molding will be another trip to the dealership before they will replace it instead of replacing them both at the same time. You can clearly see the passenger side molding loose too. Hyundai did everything in their power to sell us this vehicle with this wonderful 100,000 mile warranty but every time you have a problem you have to cause a scene and get angry before anyone wants to do anything. The tires is the biggest issue. This is a new vehicle and nothing is getting done about it. Is this how Hyundai treats their customers? I guess more complaints have to come forward or even deaths before Hyundai does anything about this major problem. If you are reading this just be aware of all the complaints listed and should reconsider purchasing a Hyundai. I wish we had done more research before we made our purchase.

If you have a Hyundai do yourself a favor and give it the hell back. Hyundai motor finance is by far the WORST company I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with in my life. Their customer service is horrible, their supervisors are a bunch of rude and condescending jerks and the company as a whole is crap. If they did their jobs at all and gave a damn about their customers maybe their ratings wouldnt be so bad. I lease a car through Hyundai, last Friday I was pulled over and given a ticket (luckily my car wasnt impounded!) because my registration was expired 2 months! Hyundai never sent me the paperwork to renew it so I had no idea it was even expiring. I called them, they told me it was my problem and my responsibility. What?! The car is leased to HYUNDAI! I cant walk into a DMV and ask to register a car that isnt mine without the damn paperwork. Hyundai told me that they never got the paperwork from the dmv... Ok... So your company doesnt look into it. No, we dont do that. Thats the response I got. Basically Hyundai believes they are not responsible for anything. So screw me right? Screw the customer... I pay almost $400 for this car a month and I havent been able to drive it since last Friday! I told Hyundai they should be responsible for paying the ticket I got because it could have easily been avoided if they did their jobs properly and provided the customer with the paperwork. I was told Im responsible for it and its in my lease. Well people of hmfusa my lease also says (Unless the interest or penalties are a result of our negligence). So since Hyundai mysteriously never received the paperwork from the DMV they dont look into it, thats basically telling me as a customer to go screw myself. P.S. I called NJMVC, they sent Hyundai my paperwork. This company gives 0 compassion to its customers that spend all this money and when the customer has an issue we receive no help on fixing it. Friday I was told they dont know why I never got the registration form and that they would send me paperwork priority so I could go to the DMV and fix it. Monday I checked the mail and still nothing. I called them again and the lady told me it was just sent that morning. What?? Ok, now its Wednesday, I STILL have nothing. Called again and the lady told me yet again it was sent out and now I SHOULD have it by the end of the week. What happened to priority? The request is priority but the mail is regular shipping. Why the hell is it sent regular mail if you can see its something I need asap. In order to send overnight we need the customers FedEx account. What?! What normal person has a damn FedEx account? That is the most bs excuse Ive ever been told. Go to USPS, ask to overnight it and bam. We dont do that. HMFUSA DOES NOTHING! This company can be run by ferrets and function better. Customer service is 0 and the company could care less about its customers. Never again will I get a Hyundai. Ive never had a worse experience in my life with a car company. How do they expect people to get to work, go to the grocery store. God forbid I have a medical emergency. Oh well, I cant drive the car. This company is such dirt and could care less about its customers. I have had no answers except the same garbage over and over again, Its on its way, were sorry for the inconvenience, we dont do that, we dont do this blah blah blah. This multi billion dollar company cant spare to pay the cost to overnight a limited power of attorney to a customer so they can get their problem fixed. Nope, screw the customers! Dont ever get a hyundai!!!

I purchased a 2016 Hyundai Tucson in 2018. I was under the impression had a 100000 mile warranty! In June 2020 I had to take car to have 3 door latches replaced because doors would not open! On November 17, 2020 my daughter was driving my vehicle and was at my brothers house and when she was backing out car stalled. She tried to crank it but had to have help pushing back in my brothers driveway. Had the vehicle towed to my house. My uncle who is a mechanic came to my house the next day and when my husband cranked the vehicle he said the motor was gone! On November 21, 2020 I had vehicle towed to dealership because Hyundai has had issues with their motors and I wasn’t sure if that was what was wrong with mine. They did find that it was bearing rod! I’ve read numerous reviews where Hyundai has had issues with the bearing rod!! Hyundai warranty said I only had a 5 yr 60000 mile warranty because I was the second owner. I did not know I only had a 60000 mile warranty! Hyundai dealership wanted to charge 12000.00 to replace the motor! They tried to screw me over there and of course Hyundai warranty is not going to replace it on a vehicle that is only worth 12000.00 to 16000.00. This has been the worst vehicle I have ever purchased!! My mistake for being unaware of all the issues with Hyundai or I wouldn’t have purchased it then. I would never ever recommend Hyundai to anyone! Worst vehicle ever!!

I am beyond disappointed and disgusted with the customer service and system
I am beyond disappointed and disgusted with the customer service and system that takes place for recall and warranty work. My engine light began flashing Friday morning and I instantly called my “home” dealership to inquire what to do. They said to pull over and not drive it any further and to contact roadside assistance to have it towed to the nearest Hyundai dealership. I did just that. My vehicle is a 2017, but purchased brand new March 2018. I am well under the 100,000 km/ 5 year warranty. Once we arrived at the dealership to get things rolling, I was informed that my vehicle has an engine recall - thanks for the notice in the mail on that one, Hyundai - NOT. So that was a major surprise to hear. I get back to work and receive a phone call from service that my engine failed all diagnostic tests and that I needed a new engine altogether. I confirmed all my services have been done through Sherwood Park Hyundai, so they said, Great, we’ll get them to send over your records and send everything off to Hyundai Canada for approval and get you a rental. I expressed how much I required a rental, as I am 8 months pregnant and my husband is not available to be driving me to and from work. They told me by Monday or Tuesday they would know the status of the engine and we can do the rental car. I had to call Monday afternoon for an update, she informed me that nothing had been approved yet, but by Tuesday we’d know. I once again explain the need for the rental. Received no phone call Tuesday, so at 2:45 pm I called them, again. Once again told Hyundai Canada still didn’t approve the warranty for the engine. Not only is this a RECALL, but I am under warranty. They then said I could pay $40/ day for a rental through them and once warranty was approved, they’d take it over. I asked if I’d be reimbursed, they said no. So Hyundai wants me to not only pay my bi-weekly payments on a vehicle I can’t drive, but also pay out of pocket for a rental when it should have already been dealt with and set up. RIDICULOUS. Having a vehicle gets me to my place of employment, which allows me to pay you people for the vehicle sitting in one of your dealerships waiting for an engine on a basically still new vehicle. They were not willing to a single thing to help me out. I will never be buying a Hyundai again. My husband is already looking at getting rid of his also due this service. I owned 3 Chevy’s prior to the Tucson thinking it was a good move. Worst decision and full regret. Things started great with Hyundai and has plummeted over the years. Whenever my vehicle was in the shop with Chevy they ensured they had a fleet/lot vehicle available to me to drive. When I had to get warranty work done and they required to keep my vehicle for 3 days, they had a rental available to me instantly. Odd, they had no issue getting me in a rental ASAP. Hyundai, you are beyond disappointing and I am disgusted with your customer service.

This is how they rope you in to buying their crummy cars “We have American’s best Warranty.” Don’t ever expect to use it though when you need it. They’ll do everything in their power to get out of having to pay to fix your car when something goes wrong. In my case, my whole electrical system fried within less than two years of having the car. Thinking I had “American’s Best Warranty” I thought, no big deal I’ll bring it in and they’ll fix it. Well, no, they tried to claim an animal chewed through my wires so it wasn’t covered by the warranty and I had to go through my insurance to have it fixed. Mind you, this is before I found out there was a class action lawsuit filed against this company for cars with unexpected engine and electrical failures and them failing to make repairs and weaseling their way out of them. They kept my car for 10 weeks trying to fix the issue and every time they fix one issue they would call back and say “oh turns out this is also wrong with your car because of the animal, you have to go through your insurance and put in another supplemental claim.” After 8,000 paid by my initial insurance claim and two supplemental claims of a 1000 a piece and a 500 deductible from me, they gave me back my car that still doesn’t work and still having electrical problems. Their response, we’ll diagnose the problem for 300 dollars to figure out what’s wrong with it now and now they want me to put in another supplemental claim due to another wire that was frayed due to “animal damage.” I can’t even trade the car in because no other dealer wants it due to all the problems and I still have 12,000 left to pay and a car that doesn’t function right.

Bought 2012 Genesis in July 2012. By Nov. 2012 noted rough ride on freeway and streets with small bumps or cracks would feel like car bottomed out with absolutely no Shock Sense which is still a problem today. Right veering/pull to right very minimal at first but now able to change lanes within approximately 3 seconds. Always told no issue found until recently. After researching the pulling to the right issue, many Genesis and other Hyundai cars have this issue, either right or left. Got Hyundai corporate involved and last time in shop for alignment issue, I drove with service tech to show pulling right issue. He agreed it did pull (same tech who 2 months earlier said there was no pull and even hinges was within specs). There is a Hyundai TSB for 2012 year put out in March of 2012 for alignment issue and how to evaluate it. Right front camber always in negative. Also excessive wear on right front tire even though rotated regularly. Black soot on tailpipe within a few months of having car, always told all OK. On looking up gdi 3.8 engines found this is a problem with need to use top tier gas and supposedly will need to clean intake valves, etc. Just research on Internet very interesting articles about gdi engines. Bluetooth drops phones and have to pair again with different name for phone. Just replaced carbon filter in fuel tank as on filling up gas pump constantly clicking off taking 15 minutes or so to fill up. Hyundai blamed veering to right in December 2015 on radial pull due to bad new tire or tires. We got second opinion from other alignment store and then obtained from where tires purchased. No radial pull noted, suspected strut and camber as camber in negative.Hyundai stated had to tweet subfamily on right to get right camber within specs. Interesting. Still have minimal pull to right but now dont change lanes within 3 seconds or less. For the paint chipping, we scratched or scuffed it up which is not true. We saw the exact same car color and year with the same problem on the frame under the driver door sill. Immediate response from Corporate and about week from their regional manager. Would definitely not buy another Hyundai. So fed up with this.

I bought an Elantra GT with 24,500 miles on it on April 1st. Right away we realized the car had several issues, one of which being the fuel economy. We averaged 17-18 mpg in town and never more than 26-27 on the hwy. Then we noticed a hissing noise when shifting, and a ping/chatter to the engine while accelerating. Then we noticed a metallic ringing when the A/C is on. The CD player was also non-functional. There were some other smaller issues as well, but Hyundai has been working to resolve them. The CD player was fixed, as with some other small things. The engine and transmission noises, poor fuel economy, and metallic ringing, were not able to be diagnosed after several attempts. Now Hyundai is working with me to do a manufacturer Buyback/lemon claim. They are extremely polite, prompt with responses, understanding of my situation and more than willing to help me. Within hours of contacting them via email, I had an open case with its own case number and everything. Currently they are confirming that nothing can be done to fix the car, then we will move forward with the buyback. They have stayed in constant contact, and always in a timely manner. Very pleased with Hyundai overall. If you have a legitimate case, Hyundai will provide legitimate help.

I love my Hyundai Tucson. The interior is as nice as a luxury car interior (comparing to a Lexus and Subaru of comparable size). It is easy to get into and out of but has more ground clearance than a sedan. It is easy to handle in most driving conditions. It sits on an Elantra chassis so in tight curves or with wind, I recommend slowing down. It is Hyundais middle sized SUV, the Kona is smaller and the Santa Fe larger and I believe there is a new SUV that is even larger. This is the perfect size for a single person or a couple, it is probably to small for school age kids in the back. The sound system is very good and the limited comes with heated seats and other nice options.

I want to share my bad experience with Freehold Hyundai. I wanted to buy a Sonata. When I contacted them, their salesman Frank quoted a figure which was as per our budget, so we decided to visit them. Antony was the salesman who attended us. I must say he was a good salesman. But when it came to quoting the final figures, he again and again went to his manager Pete **. The figures which they quoted were much higher than what they had initially quoted and we were surprised to hear them. I dont know why they called us to waste our time when we had clearly told them our budget in the beginning. Finally, Pete ** called me inside his cabin (Antony asked my wife to stay out). Pete was such a rude sales manager. I really pity people who hired him. He cracked some jokes, which were personal, and I didnt like them at all. I dont know how he could speak in such a manner to his customers. Very rude, ill-mannered and a guy with attitude problem. He doesnt deserve to be a manager at all. His customer handling is so poor that I dont know how he is running this dealership. In my life, I have never met such an ill-mannered sales manager! There was another salesman in Petes cabin, who was laughing on all this. I felt so insulted. These people are so unprofessional. Pete didnt even offer me a seat to sit. He was sitting in front of me as if he was my boss. I think a roadside vendor has better sales/customer handling skills than Pete. When I showed my displeasure on all this, Pete tried to make the deal. How could he even think I will ever do business with him or recommend his dealership to anyone? This guy is so insensitive about his customers. I am giving this rating for poor customer handling, wrong price commitments and for the insult I faced there.

I am writing to bring to you attention a serious dissociation between the Hyundai customer value mantra. Starting my family and myself have been very loyal customers to Hyundai brand, group and dealerships in North America and abroad. That is why it pain me that my trust in the words of your dealers at the Miami Gardens Lehman Hyundai was abused during my September 14, 2014 purchase of a Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2013. I expressed one of the major problems during the test drive. I asked clearly about the water droplets from the back window and was told it was condensation, which I now know to be a prevalent defect in the Hyundai Genesis Coupe architecture after being told there was no leak found on September 20, after take a picture and sending to the dealer that sold me the car. Part of the deal included tinted windows which took three days and continued broken schedules. When asked about the light scratched I was told it would be taken care of which took a week of my car being left in the auto body parking lot having to be completely repainted. On the Friday when picking up the car the key were nowhere to be found where I had to use the spare. I recently went back to the dealership to speak directly with Paul, the dealer that sold me the car, and was told he was terminated from the dealership based on conduct. I am at a breaking point, I have let so many negative aspects to the sale pass because I loved the car, but the more I think of the time and pure disrespect it leaves a bad taste. I would like a processed investigation into my sale to be implemented and will be waiting for a conclusive resolution.

I am very disappointed with Hyundai. I purchased a 2015 Sonata sport on September 28 and 17 days later I went thru the car wash and the shark fin came off during the wash and it broke into pieces. I called the dealership and they quoted some ridiculous price for a plastic cover, I couldnt believe it, so next I called Hyundai corporate office to see if it was cover by warranty and was told no and they were sorry to hear about my misfortune and I am simply furious and sad at the same time because the refused to accommodate me in any way with a simple matter after not even having the care for a month. I see that they dont stand by their product and dont care about their customers satisfaction. I would hate to see what happens if I have a major problem. I am sure that that computer board underneath isnt supposed to be exposed but Hyundai could care less I see. So next I guess itll get ruined. I cant believe Hyundai would be so unconcerned and inconsiderate of its customers. I am also sure the fin should just come off in a car wash so it had to be defective before. I will tell all my family and friends that Hyundai is not a honorable company and it does not care for its customers and does not stand by their products. I should have known better when I read the articles about the car fires and they didnt take care of the people in that situation. I dont know why I expected them to give a crap about my issue. I have an appointment with south town Hyundai tomorrow. I dont know why or if I should even keep the appointment because I cant afford their prices. I was so excited about my new car and I actually love it, however this disappointment I have for Hyundai I have right now makes me never again buy or trust Hyundai. I purchased my new Sonata Hybrid in April 2015. I want to complain about the front shroud or fairing. The clearance of the fairing to regular parking block is 0 inches. These are standard parking blocks, that a car has to pull up to in any parking space. My front fairing has now been severely damaged and is hanging off the car because the clearance does not match the standard height for a parking block. I want to know why I have this expensive repair because of poor design of the front end. If I repair the damage, the next block will, of course, rip the new one off too!!! Parking away from the block creates a safety hazard to me and other cars and drivers in a parking lot because of improper parking space allocations.Safe parking is part of safe operation of my vehicle, and I can be fined because of improper parking in a designated space. The tires are the original factory ones, so the profile should be Hyundais responsibility of design. I want to know what you (Hyundai) suggests to do to fix this design problem for now and the future of my expensive hybrid car???

I own a 2012 Hyundai Accent. It never has attained 40 MPG as advertised and stated on my car window sticker when purchased. A Class Action lawsuit was filed and reported settled in Feb 2013 and I am awaiting results. My experience with Hyundai has been the worst experience of any car company, and I am 61 years old. They are rude and arrogant. I will never own another Hyundai or Kia product... Ever!

My family purchased a brand new Hyundai Tucson 2017 in October of 2017. It had sudden engine failure. It has now been more than 30 days since the car is in the shop and no one helps or has said anything. Under the NJ Lemon Law this car is now a lemon. Hyundai Corporate is deplorable as well. They are essentially useless and less than professional. Buying this car was a horrible mistake. I would NEVER recommend Hyundai or this kind of aggravation to even my worse enemy. I am so disappointed. I have never in my life experienced such poor customer service.

Bought new Veloster 2012 March 2015 with 9,237 miles clutch when I was told not covered due to the 12,000/12 month warranty. I stated should be covered by Hyundai Assurance 5 year/50,000. They agreed and then later said service was misinformed and never should have agreed to it being covered. Went back to the 12,000/12 month warranty. I argued and a final decision was it was covered by the 5 year/50,000 warranty but OUTSIDE causes is the reason the clutch/flywheel/disc failed. Not Hyundai....I asked what was OUTSIDE cause.......no response from Hyundai. Once you buy the car they determine what their warranty covers and it seems to me that Hyundai always comes up the beneficiary.

In February 2010, I bought a new 2010 Hyundai Elantra Touring from a RT.44 Hyundai dealership in Raynham, Massachusetts. I was very pleased with the vehicle, still am. Here is the issue: About a week ago, I came out to the Touring and noticed that the passenger side front bumper cover was just hanging on and was no longer attached to the fender. I looked to see why it wasnt attached and saw that the tab from the bumper cover that secures it to the fender on the inside had completely sheared off from the inside of the bumper cover. It was not broken, chipped, or cracked it was sheared completely off in a straight line the whole tab. I had an oil change scheduled the next day with RT.44 Hyundai. When I arrived, I informed my service adviser about the bumper problem.Later when I went to pick the vehicle up, I was informed by the service adviser that RT.44 Hyundai would not cover the replacement of the bumper cover due to the fact that the mechanic found two hairline scratches that never even broke through the clear coat on that side of the bumper cover. These scratches that I had never seen before where so small and light they look like it was made by a tree branch or something and would buff out with compound and a towel. There was no other damage around the surrounding area at all. This was the reason they stated why they would not cover it under the warranty. I then asked to speak to a service manager and brought him out to see the vehicle and showed him the bumper cover. When we walked out to the vehicle, it was drizzling rain and I showed him the cover and let him look it over. He never once mentioned even seeing any scratches around the area. He wasnt made aware of them until we went back inside and he brought my information up on his computer and saw what the mechanic had written. He then stated it would cost me in excess of $1,000 to have the bumper replaced. Im a single mother and do not have the financial resources to lay out that kind of money.I then sent an email to Consumer Affairs of Hyundai of America and was instructed by them to bring my vehicle to another Hyundai dealership for them to look at it. I brought the vehicle to another Hyundai dealer (the closest being 20 miles away). They put the vehicle on the lift and validated everything I was stating on a work order, that no damage was found to cause that bumper tab to snap off the way it did. So now with this in hand, I felt pretty good about my chances of getting the bumper cover replaced under warranty. I contacted Consumer Affairs again and told them of the outcome and that I had gotten a work order from that dealership confirming everything I was stating. The T2 supervisor from Consumer Affairs then told me I would have to go back to the dealership I purchased the vehicle from and rehash it out with them as she stated they had no authority to tell a dealership to honor the warranty. I had done everything they asked me to do at my expense just to have them tell me that I would have to argue with the original dealership over it again. I have kept all the emails correspondences with Consumer Affairs of Hyundai and the work order from the other dealership. So as of today, Im driving around with my front bumper cover held on by tape. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

A swamp-like smell was coming from ac. So third time they performed a neutralization & deionization which resulted in an intense foul citrus odor. fourth time they installed a frigi-clean evap foam, new air filter & deodorization of vehicle interior which has resulted in another intense foul odor causing breathing problems. These foul odors were making me ill giving me a headache, burning eyes, throat & allergies & asthma. I told them from beginning I have these medical issues. after the third try I was told by service mgr troy that they had done all they could to resolve problem. after confronting him re: my displeasure he said he would call his people at Hyundai to see what they wanted to do. Next thing woman who sold me car is calling me??? I bought this Hyundai elantra 2013 new in 5/2012. I said I wanted to meet with the owner of Hyundai dealership. I had an appt on Sat to do so. I arrive on time Sat & am told by saleswoman owner left at 3 pm day before & will not be in. I was livid. So now general mgr comes out to talk to me in a private office & then the service mgr joins us & listen to my complaints & then tell me they have another procedure (4th one) that will take care of problem. They gave me a loaner where previously I had been refused one when requested. I work full time & have been inconvenienced many times having to take days or half-days out of work or inconvenience someone to take me to drop off & pick up car to be serviced b/c I was never told until recently they had a shuttle service.I have filed a complaint with Hyundai complaint center; waiting to hear from regional office & have also filed a complaint with the better business bureau. Unfortunately my car is paid for or I would park it on dealership doorstep while I filed complaints. the car looks beautiful on outside but like some people looks are deceiving & rotten on the inside. This car is a lemon. I want a new car or my $ back. I have two friends who purchased a Toyota car the same time I purchased my car. they have not had this problem. Im totally angry & frustrated & feel like they are jerking me around & know this car is a lemon.

I have a santa fe sport and sonata purchased within 1 year of each other. There have been several warranty issues on both cars. The company is horrible to deal with. MOst recently I called the company because of the issues I had with the dealership and they were no help because the dealerships are all independent, but the next closest dealership is over 1 hour away and you have to go to a dealer for warranty issues. When I spoke to their customer service about rental reimbursement for warranty issues, they said they do that, but dont guarantee (since it may not be a warranty issue and they dont know for sure until the car is fixed). I asked if there was a certain type of car I needed to rent and they said no and said it would be ok to get something similar to the car I own and that would be considered when issuing reimbursement. So I got a mid size SVU rental because I have a santa fe sport and then they would only reimburse about half of what I paid. If they would have been up front with me and said, the max we reimburse is $** then I would have tried to find a cheaper rental. So my warranty repair cost me over $200 in rental fees.

My name is Daniel **. I am regretting the choice of buying a vehicle from Hyundai, who claims that they are there to help service the people and help me in general. Unfortunately, Hyundai is providing false information to there clientele. I recently just purchased my 2011 Hyundai Accent. The first week after having bought the car, I had issues. For instance, on the drivers door, there was a light scratch. The tail lights had water leaking inside, creating humidity. And the ignition circle was not firmly adjusted. The servicemen at my Hyundai dealership did fix the scratch without any issue. But they gave me problems towards the tail lights and the ignition key input to start the vehicle. After 6 months of owning the $ 23000 car, which is covered under the Hyundai warranty, I am extremely unsatisfied. Two weeks ago, I brought the Accent to the dealer due to a steering issue i had. They told me the front rim was dented and it was $ 155 to repair it. So, I agreed to this, seeing as it could have been possible as we have terrible roads over here. The following day, the car was making a whistling sound coming from the front tire that they worked on. The day after, I went back and it took them 1 hour an a half to figure out the problem. They charged me $90 without notice or knowledge that I had to pay for them to recheck the car (normally any garage or mechanic will call you first or consult with the client before putting a price to anything). The following week, I noticed a very loud rattling noise while starting the ignition. So as furious as I was, I called the dealership and asked them if they had room to see me. They advised me not till next week. So, I decided to bring the car to another dealer, because it is extremely inconvenient having a brand new car making this noise and causing me so much issues. The service at the new dealership was very kind. I asked if they can take a look at the lights and the rattling sound. They checked it. And then, they called me back a few hours after, saying the tail lights were not screwed in tight, and the metal shield beneath the vehicle wasnt intact enough. They fixed everything and charged me once more $70 without notice! Logically speaking, why would this not be a defect and not under warranty?!I am extremely frustrated. I never loosened anything on my vehicle. This is an issue that came from the manufacturer. This is a product complaint! What I want from you right now is what Hyundai promised me, which is if anything doesnt sound right with the car, you will come in and will examine it for free. Thats why you have a warranty! Where is the promise in that? Does Hyundai just talk strictly out of nowhere just to sell a car and make a couple of bucks commission? I refuse to pay for issues that were caused by bad mechanics from Hyundais part.

On February 2017 she was driving down the road when she heard a noise from under the hood, so her friend told her to pull over so he could check it out, when he lifted up the hood there was a red glow. He immediately told her to get out of the car. Within an minute her car was engulfed in flames. The car burnt so bad, all that was left was the trunk of the car. Had he not told her to pull over my daughter and her friend would have died in that car.She notified Hyundai about this. For one because it was still under warranty and two her car burnt to the ground for no reason out of nowhere. They took about 2 months to get back to her and when they did they only offered her what they call fair market value, which was way lower than what she paid for the car. With what they offered she couldnt even touch the kind of car she had and is still making payments on. They were rude and the one guy hung up on me when I got upset with his attitude. We have called repeatedly trying to talk to someone in charge but to no avail. We have heard from a friend of hers that someone on Facebook has had their car go up in flames also. Hyundai does not stand by their product and they also have the worse customer relations that I have ever experienced. Never ever would I recommend buying a Hyundai car.

Hyundai has the worst leasing programs in the business. Do not fall for their lease plan. My wife turned her Equis recently. The car was 12,000 miles under so she thought she was fine. She had the Hyundai dealer wash the car when she took it in for an oil change. They used a pressure washer and took some of the pearl white off the plastic bumper. The manager said they have had issues with this paint and not to worry. Hyundai sent a person out to look at her car and write it up. She wrote down the paint issue. She said it needed a new tire. The tire in question was well within the safe range. Note that this vehicle was known to have under equipped tires on them and she kept the same when she replaced them. After 24,000 miles she had purchased two sets of tires. The Equis was their top of the line vehicle and their bottom of the line vehicles had more bells and whistles on them. My wife had asked before purchasing the vehicle about all of the things like bluetooth and was assured it had it but the salesman didnt know how to work it. That was a lie. She went back the day after purchasing the vehicle and was told Too bad, were sorry. Cant do anything about it. I will say it was the best driving vehicle weve had and I did enjoy it. The problem was the Hyundai Lease, they lie, cheat and dig into your back pocket. DO NOT LEASE THROUGH HYUNDAI. Purchase the vehicle outright or find another lease option. My wife showed the Texas Hyundai Lease manager her original correspondence and how Hyundai Lease didnt get back to her the first week she had it. They do not care about you, just the money. We are waiting on a recall for the white paint to get our money back. Tire places including the dealership said the tire in question was within code. The dealership said they would have waived all of the issues Hyundai Lease found. Remember, youre getting the car from a dealership but youre dealing with Hyundai underhand Lease.

On two occasions during the past three months the battery in my 2011 Sonata Hybrid with 31000 miles has had to be jumpstarted by AAA. After the last incident last week I took the car to the dealer where the car was purchased and the battery was shown to be in perfect condition. I was told that if the dead battery problem occurs again, I should not jump-start the car, but have the car towed in to the dealer for diagnosis. Obviously an electrical problem exists, and towing the car to a Hyundai dealer will obviously be a problem, particularly if I am out of town on a weekend. I dont believe that I should have to bear the cost of travel to my home or hotel costs because of a problem due to a Hyundai fault. Because of this problem, I cannot risk travelling out of town. In January of this year (2017) I was on my way home from hockey when my engine failed. I was just turning onto the highway and beginning my acceleration when the engine just about stalled. I was only thankfully doing about 30 km/hr and put the vehicle into neutral and pulled over to the shoulder. I shut the engine off and got under the hood for visual inspection. Upon checking the Oil there was barely any registering on the dipstick (oil is checked during every refuel). Thankfully I carry 2 litres with me at all times. It took both of these to register on dipstick. I turned the engine back on and with no warning lights and smoother running engine, I carried on my way home keeping speeds less than 70 km/hr as the immediate lack of oil concerned me.About 5 minutes from home both engine and oil warning lights came on, and the vehicle was beginning to run rough again. Once home I again checked my oil and this time there was nothing on the dipstick. I left the vehicle in my garage until appointment at my Hyundai dealer. I do my own oil changes every 5,000 km with recommended full synthetic 5w30. The only leak I have ever found was a very small one around oil pan. The dealer inspected and concluded I require a new lower block and that without my receipts they wont honor the warranty.Having done some research online in days between failure and dealer appointment I found multiple accounts of the same failure happening, some within less than a 1,000 kms of having factory dealer oil change done. So when my service informed of no warranty coverage I asked how is that the cause of my failure and others too. Was given a shrug... So the quote for repairs was well beyond my financial means, having lost my job. The dealer had no additional options for me and left me feeling blamed and written off. Then out comes the 1.4 million vehicle recall outlining the possible failure that I experienced in January. I contacted Hyundai Customer service via email April 8, 2017, they responded with a question April 10, I replied and now all I can get is an auto-reply message. I called on April 12, and was told that my VIN falls within the date range affected and that was about it. Asked if I should contact dealer again and was told up to me. I have been without my vehicle since the failure occurred and now without any answers.

The airbags had not opened during the process. This is outrageous and we would seriously like to have this problem solved. Luckily no one was in critical condition, but still this should never happen.

I have asked their head office five times to answer one simple question about whether their warranty is affected if the vehicle had been modified for a disabled person. Each time they send a stupid response which appears to indicate they never even bother to read the question. Would I consider buying one of their cars? Not a chance. I would rather walk!!!

My wife hit a concrete light pole base. The body damage was about 2500 dollars but the air bag light came on and white powder was in the car which meant the airbag went off but did not deploy the bag. The insurance company said, You need an airbag and any parts needed to repair it right even though it did not deploy to help stop my wife from moving forward. The car is a 2004 Sonata GLS with 66,000 miles on it as of July 5, 2014 the day of the accident. Hyundai said it is out of warranty but I said this is a device that will only work during an accident. They basically said too bad. The cost was over $3000.00 to replace the bag, seat belt and all the bells and whistles that make the bag NOT DEPLOY. The car is a total loss because of the air bag cost and why would I want to install a new bag that may or may not deploy. Hyundai recalled other year air bags like 2003 and 2006 but my 2004 is not included yet I have read many complaints of non--deploying. Do not trust air bags as a safety item and it doesnt matter what car. Use the seat belt and pray, lol. My car is a total loss but a friend wants to buy it as it has 66,000 miles on it and I am anal when it comes to doing everything the dealer wants you to do and when to do it. I will not buy another Hyundai but I do wish it would have made the recall list so if you have this problem report it to NTSD (NATIONAL TRANS SAFETY PLACE NOT SURE OF THE ACRONYM). Thats all folks. Trust no one.

I was in a severe car accident last May. Hyundai tells me they are working directly with my insurance company and that the charges would be covered, not to worry and if there’s any problems they’ll contact me. With recovering from injuries, they give me no indication that I still have a balance from the crash that the insurance did not cover. They put me in a brand new car without even mentioning the thousands I’ve dollars I still owed. I was left in the dark. My credit score plummeted. I then find out through the credit bureau that I have a balance on my Hyundai account that was never dealt with. I call Hyundai and they tell me it’s my fault and I should have checked in with them. I explain to them I was told everything’s as being taken care of while I was being treated in the hospital and if anything was off that I would receive a call. They tell me I shouldn’t trust everything people say!!! No word of lie, that’s what they said to me. I’ll NEVER do business with Hyundai again. They do not care about their loyal customers at all. Ruthless.

In June 2011, I bought a Hyundai Elantra 3-year warranty. I was excited because it is just what I wanted. However, several problems started to occur. First, the indicator switch had to be replaced within the first 2 weeks. Second, after six months, we experienced screeching noises. I took it to a local dealer on various occasions. They replaced the break calliper and brake pads etc. but the noise still persisted. My husband said it was a release bearing but they did not agree. I took it to Johannesburg and after ten days, they agreed that it was the release bearing, which they replaced just before the warranty expired. This process took over a year. Third problem was the indicator switch was faulty again and it had to be replaced again. After the warranty expired, it had a knock in the engine, which they diagnosed as a valve lifter. We paid over R4,000 to have these replaced. The day we collected the car from the garage, there was an explosion, during which, 6 cars were burnt out, fortunately, mine was in the wash bay. There still was a noise in the engine. Two weeks later, when they had a temporary workshop, they gave me a quote for a further R15,000 for replacement of Chain Guide A & B, Timing Chain, Chain Tensioner, Oil Pump etc. The even quoted for replacement of boot latch (very noisy boot) and still have to replace indicator switch.I am so disappointed. Everyone who I have been in contact with regarding the car has admitted that this should not be happening to a car that (at that stage) only had 60000 km on the clock, now R72750. None of the Elantra cars in Kimberley have similar problems. I spoke to a few of the owners personally. All I am asking for is a normal sounding car. I am embarrassed when people ask me why the car is so noisy, even my lady friends who do not have a clue anything about cars, are concerned.I am now waiting for them to repair the car and the parts have been ordered. They cannot carry out the repairs, as they are waiting for a part, which was shipped to SA and is taking forever. It was ordered weeks ago and their words are that it is taking so long because they have never needed to order a part of this nature before. My husband is a pensioner and does not drive like a maniac. He is a very careful driver.I am not a difficult person but I am so disillusioned. I love the Hyundai product and bought an Atos for my daughter years ago. She loves her car and never has any problems. To me, the Elantra we bought was a dud. The outside looks good but it is bad on the inside. I could write a book but am only focusing on the most important. We do not have the funds to buy a new car and we bought the car for R160,000 and the book value is now only R71,000. I implore you to attend to this complaint and not just ignore it. I am sure that if you were in my place you would feel the same. I have spoken to consumer services on numerous occasions but to no avail.

Now, when I physically visited one of your Hyundai branches, I got a different monthly payment for the exact same vehicle. The monthly payment is $421.66 a month!!! I accepted winter package ($1600 value) to be added to the car original price. However, I dont think this will have a difference of almost a $90 a month for 24 months! How come this is happening? Why is that difference for? Can you explain.

We purchased a 2014 Hyundai I40 from the main dealership in Stratford-upon-Avon. We were contacted to notify is the vehicle of been through the workshop and was ready for collection. Within an hour I realised the clutch was faulty as it had to be pushed to the floor before you could select a gear. I returned it to the garage within an hour. The head of sales said yes, there is a fault on the clutches. We can do a temporary fix until Hyundai release the relevant parts to rectify the fault. What beats me why sell a car, knowing it has a defective clutch. I know I can return the car and get my money back but I have been assured by Hyundai UK. The clutch will be rectified by the middle of June. According to the dealership, there are hundreds of I40s out there with defective clutches. So if you have a problem take it back and demanded it is fixed.

I took my 2013 Genesis in for a recall and was talked into trading it in and leasing a new Tucson. I then read that if I were to total the leased vehicle, I would be out the equity from my Genesis as the insurance would pay them, not me. I explained my concerns and was within the three days that the lease stated I had to cancel. They were upset and said that it wasnt true and that I would get the money. I said, If I rent an apartment and it burns down, I will NOT get the money, the OWNER will! So they kept saying that wasnt true and were angry but brought my Genesis back and I left, forgetting I had given them my title (free and clear). When I realized this, I called and they said they would send the title. It has been a week and I dont think Ill be getting it. I realize I shouldve done my homework first and avoided this embarrassing situation, but I am looking to trade in and buy a vehicle from them after a vacation Im planning. I told them this but still no title. Also, they just brought my vehicle in a huff and I didnt sign anything so Im hoping I dont get screwed worse than losing my title. If I receive the title tomorrow, Ill feel terrible and Ill have to delete this or update.

Yesterday early AM the clutch went out completely. I gave up AAA for the Hyundai roadside and waited 4 miserable hours for them to tow me to the dealer...only to learn the clutch is not covered under their great Warranty. I was like a wild woman at that point...they did give me a loaner car but my problem is still pending with the Hyundai regional Office... I used the problems everyone else here is having as ammunition because if they dont cover the clutch...I am not taking the vehicle back...period...

Got lied to and now cant get compensation through corporate. They actually expect me to keep driving the car and bringing it back and forth to a dealership. No, I am not a Karen, however I have dumped over 40 quarts of oil into it, spent over a year at various dealerships and even had to hire my own mechanic to tell me there really was a HUGE issue and I was being played. Now, I am down to pretty much not having a vehicle and BEGGING Hyundai to just take their car back and set me free of this in a fair deal that does not leave me broke and with nothing to drive.

Actually, Ive 2 problems with my Verna 2012 car (15,000k) only. The first one is related to the dinamo; it doesnt keep any charge if I left my car for only one day! The second is that sometime when I switch off the contact, it doesnt switch off the car and I should repeat this for 3 or 4 times! This is not the first time to complain to Hyundai. Ive a problem before after 5000k, and it is solved after visiting the maintenance center 3 times! This time is the same. I bought a 2012 Hyundai Tucson on Jan 2018 with only 50k miles on it and in great condition. I have kept up with the regular services. Last week with just over 100k miles (right after the warranty expired) a huge hole blew in my engine while I was driving 70mph down the highway. I had an oil change two weeks prior, so thought maybe they messed something up, but I had the car towed into a shop and they said there was still oil in the engine but there was a huge hole, indicating that it was faulty manufacturing. But since the warranty expired, I am out of luck. I went online to see if there is anything I can do, only to find out that tons of other 2012 Tucson drivers have experienced the same exact thing happening and that there is a class action lawsuit against Kia and Hyundai, but that this particular year of Tucson was not included. I had the engine recall service at Hyundai back on Oct 2019 and kept up with oil changes. This is clearly a manufacturer issue and they need to take responsibility to fix these models as well. I will be looking into how to get these models included in the lawsuit, or start a new one. I thought these were good cars, but now see that they are not made well and arent safe at all.

On 8/20/2013 I was leaving the VA clinic, I put the car in drive and pressed the gas. A few seconds later the car sounded like a motorcycle and the check engine light came on. I didnt want to drive it on the highway so I took the main streets. The exhaust got louder and louder and I was afraid it might cause engine damage. I saw a Meineke Car Care Center and pulled in. They lift the car and the mechanic said that the converter gasket blew out. While installing a new gasket he noticed that the gasket flange on the front pipe was a little distorted probably from all the heat. He told me he would have to put a small amount of sealer on the gasket to make up for the gap and that he didnt know if it would hold, but it would get me to the Hyundai service department without hurting the engine. When he had finished and started the car it was perfect. No noise, no leaks. I had an appointment with Twin City Hyundai on 9/12 for a recall problem. I told them what had happened and the Service rep., the service manager and a mechanic looked for almost an hour and took some parts off the front of the engine. The service rep. called me over and started explaining what was wrong with the car. He said, and they ALL agreed that the manifold was cracked and had to be replaced, the converter was no good, and needed a new front pipe, and they may find other problems after they tore it down. Travis said it would cost $1400 to $3000 if the warranty didnt cover it. Travis (the service rep.) said he had to take some pictures to see if the warranty would cover the cost. On Monday 9/16 Travis called and said the warranty was void because it was road damage, and said it would be as much as $3,000.00 to fix it. Travis NEVER said anything about “Road Damage” on 8/20 after the 3 of them had a one hour inspection. After I got Travis’s call I took the car back to Meineke and told them what Twin City said it would cost. They were outraged and called it a scam. Meineke fixed the car perfectly by installing a new front pipe and their inspection showed NO manifold crack, and no need to replace the converter as it was working properly. The front pipe was $200.00.I drove to Twin City Hyundai and acted like I wanted to have them fix the car. I asked Travis to take another look and make sure he was sure about his appraisal, and what the car needed to be fixed. Even though the car was fixed he still said that it could be as much as $3000 but definitely no lower than $1400. That’s when I told him the car was fixed for $200 and that I wondered how many others he had scammed. I then went up and talked to the General Manager **, and explained the fraud that they tried to pull. His comments were “what would you like me to do about it?” I said as the General Manager, I guess that was up to him, and then out of nowhere he says you are banded from brings your car here for warranty service. He tries to punish me for because I caught his people trying to scam me out of $2800.00.

They damaged my firewall, and then 2 weeks later the car is back in the shop for the same engine failures. They are refusing to fix my firewall which clearly they damaged taking the engine out of my car. Unreal... Worst car experience of my life. Oh.. and when I brought the car back, it was 5:30, they close at 6. I had to fight with them to even keep my car. Kendall Hyundai could care less about its customers. Never buy a Hyundai!!! I bought a 2011 Hyundai Sonata 2.0T Limited and I have had nothing but regrets. Everything that could possibly go wrong, HAS! I had the famous engine failure in December 2016. It just stalled and seized on the highway and the useless Agincourt Hyundai dealership in Toronto that I took it to DID NOT EVEN PRESENT THE CASE TO HYUNDAI CANADA INITIALLY. They just asked me to bring $9,000 for an engine replacement. I had to call Hyundai Canada myself, and they also tried to void my warranty until I threatened legal action. They finally gave me a new engine and less than a week later, my driveway was an oil pool, the engine oil leak was so bad that my dipstick dried up in days!Besides the engine issue, there has been countless MIL (check engine light) illuminations: from 02 sensor to catalytic converter to issues with the gutless turbo the car has. The shocks and struts on the car are so useless too, they have been changed severally. The wheel alignment is the worst, its like it loses alignment every 3000 km! I do not drive badly, but somehow this piece of garbage always pulls to one side even after an alignment. The sunroof creaks! My backup camera chooses when its going to work, on other days it just shows me a blue screen when in reverse! The sound system is total nonsense (I have the dimension system)! I REPEAT: DO NOT BUY A HYUNDAI!!

I’m writing this post because I had bad experience with Hyundai USA, and I warned their representative Lauren **, that this is what I would do. Her response basically was, “Go ahead,” and that is why I’m spending the time to write this. She refused to give me her last name, but if this gets back to Hyundai, I’m sure they will find out who she is.Back in March, when I would back up and apply the brakes, it sounded like thunder. I knew this meant I was having a problem with my brakes so I called the local Hyundai Dealership. They told me because I only had 12,320 miles on my car, that the rotors would be covered under my warranty. They also said the brake pads would not. The dealership was a distance away, and in the past even with an appointment, I had to wait a long time to have the repairs done. They also charge considerably more than a local auto repair shop would. I saved even more money because there was a local store that had a Groupon for brake pads. I had assumed that new pads were all I needed, but when they took off the rear wheels, they showed me that the rotors were also badly worn and had to be replaced. I had already paid for the pads with the Groupon, and I told them to also replace the rotors.I called Hyundai because the rotors should not have gone bad with only 12,320 miles on them, and ask that they pay the $149.80 it cost me to have them repaired. Their answer was since the repair was not done at a Hyundai Dealership, it would usually not be covered. They also said if I went to the Hyundai Dealership, and got a letter that the rotors were installed properly, there was a good chance that they would cover the cost. So of course, I went to the dealership, got a letter from them, sent in a copy of my bill along with another letter explaining everything, to their complaint department. Their response after doing all of this was NO! Not taking no for an answer, this time I wrote to the corporate office and waited three weeks for their response. I figured a multi-billion dollar company would just reimburse me, the same as they would have paid the dealership to have the repair done. As I said before, Lauren ** also said Hyundai would not cover it. I can spend $149.80 just for a good dinner, so it’s not so much the money, it’s the principle. In trying to find Hyundai’s telephone number it said that they got only 1 star for customer service, so you know this the next time you are looking for cars.

Two weeks ago we were driving and all of a sudden the engine shut off, no warning lights were on at all at the time this happened. We had Hyundai Roadside assistance tow the vehicle, (waited 2 hours for them) to the closest Hyundai dealer. The next day the dealer called and said the engine was shot, and they had to take it apart to send pictures to the corporate office. 5 days later they called and said Hyundai denied the warranty for Lack of Maintenance. The car only as 46,000 miles, and we have had oil changes. The dealer said they found sludge in the engine. Hyundai never asked for any receipts for oil changes, and just denied the claim. I then called the 800 customer service number, to be told that there was nothing they could do, all complaints were handled through the Better Business Bureau. I asked to speak with whomever denied the claim and they refused. So now I have a complaint into the BBB, but Hyundai has not responded. I dont understand how they advertise the best warranty and then deny all claims. I have researched the internet and found many people has had the same thing happen to them. How is this legal? Our vehicle is leased, so they know we have to fix it before the end of the lease. This seems like a scam, since we have to fix it. We also found at least 5 other Hyundai owners who reported the exact same symptoms as ours on the same make, all of which were denied by Hyundai. I will never buy another Hyundai, they are criminals running a huge scam. Dont believe the salesman when they tell you they have the best warranty. They dont honor it. Dealer told me there is nothing they can do to help. They said that they have seen sludge in the engine in other Hyundais and ours was not that out of the ordinary. However they claim their hands are tied, and all warranty decisions are made by corporate.

I bought a 2011 Hyundai Tucson about a year ago and was promised bells and whistles (which I knew in part werent true), but the one that appeared real was free maintenance for 3 years. To a single mom on a budget, that sounded spectacular. I even watched as the dealer and loan officer wrote down this promise multiple times, but when it came to signing my contract I did not double check to see if my free maintenance for 3 years promise had been recorded. When I called to make my regular service appointments, everything went smoothly at first. After about the third appointment, service fees started appearing and suddenly I was told by the service department that Hyundai never gives 100% free maintenance. Apparently, what was meant by my too good to be true deal was that free maintenance only means free oil changes and that is it. Everything else will cost you. Driving my Tucson is just fine, but being duped puts a sour taste in my mouth every time I step into my car. Im on the fence about buying from Hyundai again. Because Hyundai has been using Western Union (Hyundai is the only company I pay electronically that has chosen to use Western Union) they now want to pass on to the consumer $3.95 on each occasion to offset what they are paying Western Union. I may send in a check, costing me 50 cents, and they feel that can process that check without a $3.95 fee.
