We have been waiting since 12/2/11 when we purchased our car to get the Blue Link service. We call the Center on a regular basis and all we get is: Ill give you my ID number (with a different agent) and well call you. Were working on it.” No one ever calls us back. The name and the ID number of the individual is never available when we call back.
I am so pleased with the Hyundai Kona. It is a small SUV and I love that it fits in small spaces. The gas mileage is incredible. The same as my Honda Civic. I love putting the Kona in Sport Mode. It has a lot of get up and go!! Every where I go, I am asked about it and told that it is a good looking vehicle. I purchased a 2018 Turbo Feb 2019 and the car only had 4 miles on it. I am almost at 1 year of being a Kona owner and I would not have changed a thing.
GC 2013 3.8 Track (Love Car cant say the same for Company) - On Saturday, April 16th, 2016 I went to Balise Hyundai to have my vehicle serviced and to address my concerns about the paint peeling on the front bumper near the hood of the car. I showed the peeling paint to the service advisor Phil ** who took pictures of my front bumper and stated that he would pass them along to the person who handles warranty claims. Phil explained that I would need to come back to Balise Hyundai during the week to have my concerns addressed. It is important to note taking time off during the week was not feasible during that time due to the structure of my current role and the responsibilities it entails.On Wednesday May 11th, 2016 I brought my vehicle to Balise Hyundai and showed the bumper to Bob ** (Service Director) who immediately began to tell me that my warranty didnt cover the damage and that it appeared as if the bumper was painted over or that something had spilled on it and therefore was not Hyundais responsibility to cover. Bob proceeded to take pictures while he instructed his co-worker Stephanie to gather some info on my vehicle. After a few minutes of both Bob and Stephanie examining my vehicle, I asked Stephanie to update me on what was being discussed. She stated that I was not under warranty for paint as my car was three years old. I told her that while my car was a 2013, I did not begin my lease until September of 2013. She then asked me about the mileage which I told her was less than 36,000 miles. Another 5 to 10 minutes of conversation with Bob yielded a plethora of biased assumptions that I found to be quite concerning. Bob ** insinuated I caused the damage to my vehicle. I left Balise Hyundai and then called Hyundai Motor America to report my warranty claim and ask questions. At that point, the integrity of Bob ** was in question and I was concerned that Bob would intentionally fail to submit the warranty claim and tell me it was not covered or submit the claim filled with biased narrative and minimal facts. I spoke with a Genesis representative named Christina (case #**) and she explained to me that she would look into it and contact Balise Hyundai to follow-up. Christina said she would call me back that day to update me however I never received a call. Later that day I was set to travel out of the country for two weeks. On Thursday, May 26th, 2016 I contacted Hyundai Motor America to follow up regarding my warranty claim. I explained that I had not heard from Bob or Stephanie about next steps.On Friday, May 27th, 2016 I received a call from Stephanie who left a voicemail stating that Hyundai wanted me to take my vehicle to the Balise repair shop to get an estimate of the damage. Upon hearing the message left by Stephanie I called her back and was unable to speak to her directly. I left a detailed voicemail inquiring about the arrangement of a specific date/time to bring the car for an estimate. Stephanie never responded to my message.On Saturday, June 4th, 2016 I brought the vehicle to Balise to get the estimate and was told that the repair shop is only open during the week. I spoke with General Manager Brian ** who told me to email him pictures of the paint concerns and that he would get an estimate for me on Monday and send me the quote. (See attached photos) On Tuesday, June 7th, 2016 Brian emailed me stating that a rep is coming today and will see if he approves the work. Estimate is $1,300. On Wednesday, June 8th, 2016 I emailed Brian back and ask him if the rep would be calling me directly to let me know the decision concerning my car. Brian emailed me back informing me that it was decided that my hood would not be covered but that the decision to repaint the bumper hadnt been made yet. On Friday, June 10th, 2016 I emailed Brian to find out how long it would be to determine if my bumper was going to be covered under warranty. He replied back confirming it would be 7 to 10 business days. On Tuesday, June 21st, 2016 I emailed Brian seeking an update on the pending situation. I received no reply.On Wednesday, June 29th, 2016 I receive a voicemail from Bob ** stating that he wanted me to return his call because Consumer Affairs wanted a factory rep to look at my vehicle. He also stated the rep would be at Balise on Thursday (the very next day). I called Bob back to arrange the time for the factory rep to see my vehicle. I explained to Bob that I worked and that he was giving me very short notice. I asked if I could schedule something for Friday or the week after and Bob told me that the Factory rep only comes once a month and that if I didnt come tomorrow (Thursday) it would be next month before another meeting could be arranged.On Thursday, June 30th, 2016 I arrived at Balise at approximately 7:30 am which was the agreed time slot. This time was chosen as it was early enough for business to be handled and ensured Id make it to work on time. The factory rep showed up after 7:30 am and while I sat in the waiting area Bob failed to inform me that the factory rep arrived. At around 7:50 am I went to find Bob to inquire about the factory rep. That is when I was informed that Loi **, Eastern Region District Parts & Service Manager was already looking at my car. When I approached Loi he informed me that he was checking to see if there was any report of an accident concerning my car. After a few minutes, Loi approached me and told me that the bumper damage was going to be covered but not the chipped paint on the hood of the car. I was then instructed to go to the Balise repair shop and schedule a date to have my car brought in for repair. I followed those instructions and spoke with the Collision Repair Manager, Tim **. We agreed to have the bumper painted on July 11th, 2016 and he told me that it would take two days.On Monday, July 11th, 2016 I brought my car to Balise repair. To my surprise, I then had to rent a car from Enterprise because Balise Hyundai stated that they didnt have any loaners. They also informed me that even if they did have loaners, it would cost me. Over the course of two days, it cost me $60 to rent the car from Enterprise. On July 13th, 2016 I returned to Balise to pick up my car but was told that it was not ready. I was then left to rent a vehicle for another day. For my inconvenience, Jim ** who works for Balise Collision Repair agreed to cover the rental cost for that day.On July 14th, 2016 I returned to Balise to pick-up my car and was astonished by what I saw. I spoke with Balise Collision Repair Appraiser, Jesse ** about the fact that the color of the bumper that was painted did not match the color of the rest of the vehicle! During my conversation with Jesse, he informed me that prior to beginning the paint job he called over to Bob ** and asked about blending the paint into the hood and the fender to prevent the noticeable color difference. He was told by Bob to only paint the bumper. Jesse explained to me that the color difference was typical with the type of paint on my car and that during most repairs to assure that the color matches the other parts of the car they blend into the other areas. (See attached photos)I havent yet heard about whether or not I will be reimbursed or receive credit towards my monthly payment. When I followed-up with Hyundai Motor Finance about my situation was I essential told sorry for your troubles. You still must pay your monthly bill and if we dont receive payment we will repo your car. It will be auctioned and all accrued expenses will be your responsibility. Moral of this story: Dont buy Hyundai as their Customer Service is horrible and they dont care about loyal customers.
On August 2011, the dealer offered me two tires, if I purchase the Hyundai Azera 2006. The tires that the car has, is in bad shape. With this deal, I purchased the car. Two months have passed, and I still have not received my tires. I have called them numerous times, spoke with the salesman, Brandon, the manager, David, and I recently called Michael **, the customer satisfaction rep. They have not returned my call yet, and I am still waiting for my tires. My tires have no threading, that is why he offered the two tires. It is now November 2011.
2012 Hyundai Elantra does not get 40 mpg: I purchased the car brand new, and now, I have 12, 000 miles on the car. I drive 38 miles each way to work everyday. I drive mostly highway miles and always set the cruise at the highway speed limit. The car promises 40 mpg highway. I have never gotten more than 36 mpg. When I contacted the dealership, they said that it will get 40 mpg after I have been driving about 1,000 miles on the car. I am now at 12,000 miles, and it does not get 40mpg. This was the only reason I chose this car, and now, I am stuck with this loan for 5 years and I am very unhappy about this issue and the lack of response from Hyundai.
I have a defective Santa Fe Sport Turbo 2017 SUV. I had problems with it from day one... just got worse. Has been to 3 dealerships, same problem, loses power when going over a bump or rough surface. Got worse as time went on. Was in shop 6-7 times. Almost got killed in it when engine stopped working driving on 65mph road. Smoke coming out of SUV. Finally diagnosed with a faulty engine off the assembly line... over $17,000 repair. Not even 2 years old, I have a 3 year lease. Asked Hyundai to release me from the lease and take defective car back. Hyundai WONT... expects me to keep defective car. I do not feel safe in the car no matter what at this point. Hyundai wont take defective car back. This is NOT fair or good business. How can they make me keep a DEFECTIVE car???
Wifes auto started to act funny on way home from work as started to lose power and all lights on dash lit up. She was able to pull over to side of road and called me to come jump her as we thought the battery was dead as everything came on. We didnt recall anything about roadside assistance since it happened a short distance from home but thought that our regular mechanic could tow us and report what the problem was. He found out that the alternator was bad causing the battery to go dead and replaced the alternator from Hyundai in Rockford, IL. He gave me the old one as there was no aftermarket alternator available and thought the warranty would cover the cost since the car is less than three years old and only has 34,000 miles on it. We looked at all the paperwork in our box when we purchased the car and found we were covered by Hyundais warranty and had purchased a Titanium package or Advantage package as well that also covers things such as the alternator. I called the sales department to talk to the person who sold us the car but he no longer works at the dealership. I was directed to the service manager and sent attachments of the repairs and he talked to his representative who said he could not reimburse us for the repairs as he did not have the means to do that. The service manager gave us customers relations to contact and a case number was given: **. I talked to Shana the second time in customer relations but she would not discuss reimbursement nor answer or compromise about anything. I asked the cost of towing to the nearest Hyundai facility, hourly labor rate, cost of rental and cost of replacement of part as well as inconvenience on such a cold day/night but was not given any information except none of the repairs would be covered because a Hyundai dealership did not perform the repairs. I would imagine the cost of the repairs that I paid were far less than the expense written off by Hyundai, but they will not talk about any compromise or reimbursement. I guess I have to have a lawyer give me some assistance in this matter as I am disabled and on a fixed income so every penny is important to me.
2006 Hyundai Sonata: air bags no longer work; lights on; and dealers service department says this is not covered under 100k warranty. I have 70k miles. This is a safety issue and Hyundai says its not covered! I am reading this particular issue over and over on websites! It is very poor that there is no warranty on this issue. Several hundred dollars is needed out of my pocket to repair it. I cant afford it. So, in case of an accident, too bad! And yes, the passenger air bag had to be repaired couple of years ago. Now, neither work (according to the system).
My daughter purchased a certified pre owned 2013 Sonata limited turbo. She took it to have regular maintenance, so she took good care of the car. On February 2017 she was driving down the road when she heard a noise from under the hood, so her friend told her to pull over so he could check it out, when he lifted up the hood there was a red glow. He immediately told her to get out of the car. Within an minute her car was engulfed in flames. The car burnt so bad, all that was left was the trunk of the car. Had he not told her to pull over my daughter and her friend would have died in that car.She notified Hyundai about this. For one because it was still under warranty and two her car burnt to the ground for no reason out of nowhere. They took about 2 months to get back to her and when they did they only offered her what they call fair market value, which was way lower than what she paid for the car. With what they offered she couldnt even touch the kind of car she had and is still making payments on. They were rude and the one guy hung up on me when I got upset with his attitude. We have called repeatedly trying to talk to someone in charge but to no avail. We have heard from a friend of hers that someone on Facebook has had their car go up in flames also. Hyundai does not stand by their product and they also have the worse customer relations that I have ever experienced. Never ever would I recommend buying a Hyundai car.
My 2002 Hyundai XG350 suddenly began to nearly die when at slow speeds and the dealer diagnosed three bad ignition coil assemblies as the cause.My vehicle is within the 10-year/100,000-mile engine train warranty but Hyundai refuses to honor it or to show documentation that excludes these essential power train non-wear items from the warranty.I am out over $800 over this dispute.
Having recently moved to New York State, I am required to submit a copy of the title of my vehicle in order to transfer the registration. Sounds simple? Call Hyundai, put in the formal request and receive a copy of the title. Life should be so easy. This process started just before Thanksgiving. Here I am now on the verge of having my car impounded as the 30 day registration requirement for the state is fast approaching. Hyundai on the other hand, cant seem to get me my document after several hours of phone calls, numerous calls, trips to the registry and time out of work.The finance representatives are rude, talk over me and have lied on a number of occasions. So what am I to do? If they dont send the document, I cant register. If I dont register, I lose my car, get fined or have issues with the law. I have never, ever, in my 52 years been so frustrated, disgusted and downright angry as to how they have treated me, their lack of concern and inability to get me a document, that in todays digital world, should only take minutes, not weeks and going on months.The representatives of this company who have deliberately lied to me, put me off and disrespect me are definitely in the wrong line of work. Customer service? OMG... they dont know what the words even mean. I need help before my car is towed away and I lose my job. Why? Because I followed Hyundais process and protocol. Because I had faith in their people... because I try to do the right thing. I guess a persons word no long means a thing.
If you are reading this - Please do not finance with this company. About 3 years ago, a mistake on their end (on their website) returned my payment. The excuse they gave me was we only had the last four digits of your account number and therefore could not process your payment. Well, the entire account number was there, but the digits in front were shown as Xs, so my account number looked like this - XXXXXXXXXXX-0000. When I explained to them this was the issue, they reversed the late fee. You would think after this that the company would fix the issue.Well, this happened again recently in the beginning of April (2014). I was given the same excuse. They reversed the fee. I then made another payment (for two months). I made sure the account number, routing number, and checking number were absolutely correct (even have an email confirmation with all the information on it). This payment didnt go through again, and this time they will not reverse the fee. I repeatedly asked them for the reason why the payment did not go through. First I was told insufficient funds. Then I was told only last four digits were available. Then I was told the account number was wrong. When I repeatedly asked them for what account number they were given for the returned payments, they said they didnt have it on file. So how do you know it was wrong if you cant even check it in the first place? After several emails and phone calls, and a phone call with a supervisor named John, they absolutely refused to waive the returned payment fee.After the first payment was returned in early April, Hyundai Motor Finance should have immediately told me if something went wrong with the second payment (instead of waiting to hit me with a late fee/returned payment fee). Nothing showed on their website until AFTER they hit me with yet another fee. This is a real shame since Im happy with Hyundai Motors of America and my local dealership. However, if the dealerships are urging people to finance with this company, they too should be held accountable for poor customer service. They are refusing to do anything further. This issue is not resolved.To everyone reading this, avoid financing with this company. They truly do not care about their customers.
Recently my 2011 Sonata wouldnt start. The dealer replaced the bendix (by the starter), with the mechanic stating that he repairs 4/5 of these a day!? At only 27,000 miles, WHY did this bendix (evidently made out of plastic), not function?!? (Fortunately, my vehicle is still under warranty). AM I TO EXPECT THIS PART TO MALFUNCTION EVERY 27,000 miles?!? I understand that other dealers (Service Mgr.) ARE ALSO HAVING THIS PROBLEM.
My experience with Rick Case Hyundai in Duluth, GA was extremely horrible. I went in on Wednesday to trade in my very good condition 2007 Lexus GS 350 for a 2012 black on black Veloster. At first, Mr. ** wanted me to pay $1500 out of pocket for the car which was a no deal. So after hours of negotiating, we finally agreed on a title for a title. Then he tells me the car will be here on Friday. Friday came and went, and still no car. After waiting around all weekend, the car finally comes on Monday. But unfortunately the car interior was red! I was then talked into keeping the car to see if the red interior would grow on me. Two days later, I brought the car back because it did not grow on me. I asked Mr. ** that if they could change the interior color to black and he said they could for $1500. I politely told him no because it was not my fault that the wrong color car was ordered. Two hours later, I asked for my Lexus and the title back, and he said okay but I would have to pay a restocking and reconditioning fee of $599. I called my lawyer immediately and was informed that was ** and the dealership was only trying to make money off of me. After being constantly lied to and haggled, I told him no and patiently waited another hour for the keys to my Lexus. As a military veteran I was hurt, disappointed and highly ** that the Rick Case Hyundai of Duluth, GA would give me such a hard time of simply changing the interior of a car that they wrongly ordered! Buying a car is supposed to be a great experience, but it was a nightmare. I hope Steven ** does not continue to take advantage of people and especially, veterans.
For the price point of this vehicle I expected not to hear anything inside. But it seems as I go 40mph and above I hear air as if the window is cracked open. Hyundai says its road noise but I know the difference. Its a lot quieter in my wifes Juke than in the Palisade. I think the door is to light weight so air noise seeps through. Hopefully Hyundai will find a fix for this. Its probably the only reason so far I would not keep this vehicle.
I love my Hyundai Tucson. The interior is as nice as a luxury car interior (comparing to a Lexus and Subaru of comparable size). It is easy to get into and out of but has more ground clearance than a sedan. It is easy to handle in most driving conditions. It sits on an Elantra chassis so in tight curves or with wind, I recommend slowing down. It is Hyundais middle sized SUV, the Kona is smaller and the Santa Fe larger and I believe there is a new SUV that is even larger. This is the perfect size for a single person or a couple, it is probably to small for school age kids in the back. The sound system is very good and the limited comes with heated seats and other nice options.
From the deceptive pushy dealer at Hyundai to the customer service line to the service department. In all my years of owning a vehicle never have I had to deal with such unprofessional people. I regret so much buying from Hyundai and would never buy from them again. I traded in a brand new Honda Accord paid off and needed more room for my son to fit in comfortably and decided to look at Hyundai. The dealer was cool to take my paid off brand new vehicle and get me a SUV much to my surprise the name brand must be jinxed. As soon as I purchased the vehicle from Hyundai a month later I had a car accident where another person hit me. Taking it back to Hyundai I wanted a authorized Hyundai dealer to repair my vehicle which there wasnt one in my area, they convinced me at the dealer to trade in the crashed vehicle for a new one again and much to my amazement was reluctant after seeing the cost of payment for another vehicle.The pushy aggressive finance officer upset me to the point that I wanted to call the cops cause he wouldnt give me back my keys to my vehicle in a desperate hope that he would get me into the new Hyundai. I went from a monthly payment of $180 with a payoff balance of $8000 to a another Hyundai vehicle same year to $400 payment with a $20,000 payoff when they finally convinced me at the dealer. It was a good decision I finally took the vehicle and thats where all my headaches began. They are good to take your money quick but as far as customer service on your account through financing with Hyundai is a also a headache, and the dealer well no comment at this point. STAY AWAY FROM HYUNDAI!!!
I noticed yesterday for the first time in my 2012 Elantra Touring, a wet/damp area at the top of the passenger side windshield strut where the plastic strut cover meets the fabric of the roof. It is not coming from the door seal, it is dry by the door seal?
Bought a new Hyundai Elantra in 2002 and the transmission went out at only 80,000 miles. To fix transmission ranges from $1000 to $2500. That is more than the Blue Book value of the car! Hyundais are JUNK! Get a TOYOTA or a HONDA instead.
After 5.5 years and limited mileage two major parts requiring replacement costing up to £2500 for non genuine parts. This is not my expectation and I reported this to Hyundai. As far as I am concerned this is an unreliable vehicle. I have looked after the car and the Hyundai garage say it is one of those things, however they did try and sell me another car at the time I was voicing my concerns.
I had a terrible experience with Hyundai following an accident that occurred due to their negligence and they are not taking any responsibility. I went to pick up my car from the Hyundai service centre. My car was left parked in reverse no Ebreak (manual transmission). I clutched in to start the car, being used to park in neutral I clutched out to go scrape my windows while the car warmed, but my car flew backwards and smashed into a new car on the lot. They will not take any responsibility for their negligence and were incredibly rude. I will never ever buy a Hyundai again.
On 1/5/2012, I was in an accident in my 2003 Hyundai Elantra. A car ran the stop sign and pulled out in front of me and I slammed on my brakes but could not stop in time so I t-boned them going about 40mph dead center. The airbags did not deploy. I had severe whiplash and now have constant back pain. I am so mad that the airbags did not deploy. I contacted Hyundai about this and they wanted all this information from me: service records and everything but the kitchen sink. Yes, I had the maintenance done on my vehicle either by my husband or a mechanic, and no, my airbags were never removed. Maybe Hyundai forgot to put the airbags in the vehicles that have so many issues of them not deploying.
I have a Hyundai Elantra 2009 with 60,500 miles. My power steering went out at 60,400 miles. The repair including labor was $2400. Hyundai Inc. has refused to make reparations on this because they said I had car fixed at a private mechanic. My case number is **. There’s no money refund.
I purchased a brand new Hyundai Elantra GT. I have had the car for less than 6 months and have just experienced my 3rd flat tire having to replace each one. Two blowouts and one bubble. When I wrote to them their response was to just give me a list of tire companies and phone numbers. I bought the car to be reliable and now Im afraid any given moment I may be stranded on the side of the road. My old used car went 7 years and only had one flat but a brand new Elantra has 3 in 6 months.
I am late in updating this review.The Hyundai dealer found issue with rear coupler on inspection. I had to take the SUV back to the dealer a week later as they had to order the parts.The Correction comment states - Replaced 4WD Coupling Assy - listed at $549.50. It was all covered under warranty so I did not have to pay for anything.
I was in a no-fault accident February 25 2019. I had a small little crack on the driver side of the vehicle which triggered the airbag light to stay on in my vehicle reminder the airbags did not deploy. After waiting two months for the body collision to do the basic repairs my vehicle was sent to two Hyundai dealerships and neither dealership can figure out why the airbag light was still on. I called Hyundai corporate office. They put a hold on my vehicle for two weeks. They didn’t offer a loaner vehicle or a rental for the hassle and stress I been through and just told me to have the service center work on the vehicle. After being there for a month they did not reimburse me and I have a son with a disability and they did not make anything urgent or help my situation. The claim case was missed handled. My son been out of school for two months. Very disappointing!
I have a 2012 Genesis with 42,000 miles on it and it blew an engine. A piston rod broke in half. Hyundai refuses to cover it under the warranty because they claim it was out of oil. I just had it serviced, but not by Hyundai, and there was oil in it. In fact when the rod broke the engine spilled oil all over the road and the tow truck. Even the dealer confirms that. But no the supreme judge at America Hyundai says no oil, no pay. The warranty isnt worth the paper its written on!!! Never, ever buy a Hyundai! The experience is bitter beyond description.
I traded in my 2013 Kia Optima SXL for a 2015 Kia Optima SXL. I used the $5850 left after my payoff as my downpayment on a lease. I was in a horrible crash two weeks after and the car had 586 miles on it and it was totaled. My insurance said the car is so new they werent depreciating it, but Hyundai only says I will get back $3986.45 so I now have to lose part of my downpayment. My insurance handled this in a week and I have to pay out of my pocket because Hyundai says it will take about a minute to give me what Im due back! They have their money right away. Gap insurance obviously isnt worth it if the car is new.
My 2008 Hyundai Veracruz with roughly 60,000 miles on it has been at the dealership for two weeks not running. There is damage to the engine and excessive sludge build up which has also damage parts around the engine. I was told that the work is not covered under warranty because it is due to lack of maintenance. I was able to produce receipts that proved I get scheduled oil changes on my car and passed on this information to the dealership. I then called Hyundai North America and filed a complaint and requested to have this work covered under the warranty since it happened from no fault of my own. It has now been two weeks and a Hyundai North America regional manager has failed to reach out to me and contact me in regards to this. I call and email and still have no answers as to what is going on with my car. I have just received a phone call from the dealership that they received an email and that Hyundai will not cover the engine damage because they still find it happened due to lack of maintenance. Nobody from Hyundai North America has reached out to me to discuss these findings. This is the second Hyundai I purchased because I was sold on Americas Best Warranty. This could not be less accurate. The customer service has been below par and the fact that they will not stand behind the warranty and fix what is broken is worse. I will never purchase a Hyundai vehicle again and I ask you to take my experience into consideration before you do. I understand that there is no guarantee that nothing will last forever and I accept that, I can deal with that. The customer service from Hyundai is what is completely dissatisfying and unacceptable.
I had an oil leak at 40,978 miles only. Owned and well-maintained, I was told it was a bad crank shaft. I will need a new motor, but they will not cover it, saying there was a sludge under the valve cover. The first mechanic (not Hyundai) said it was very clean. I am waiting now for 5 weeks for a resolution.
The Hyundai Equus is a full size ultra-luxury auto that does everything at the highest levels. The ride is like floating on a cloud, 429 HP packs a punch, lots of leg room and trunk space and the car is beautiful on the outside. Cost is substantially less than any vehicle with similar features. Home run!!!
I like Hyundai alright, but feel like its only a middle of the road car. Little things have broken such as door sensors and windshield wiper motor that were trouble to fix, but didnt break the bank.
I was really excited to buy my first Hybrid. I have long commutes to work and wanted a car that could save me gas mileage. This car is a 2018, at the time of this writing it is now 2021 (4 years old!). In the time that I have bought it, the car died twice on the highway commuting to or from work. The first time it died there was no check engine light warning to indicate any kind of prevention to get the car looked at. I was just driving home and then a big yellow icon popped up. I was able to coast my car off the road and turn it off. I waited a bit and then turned my car back on. I was able to safely finish driving home before calling the service department at the Hyundai dealer in my area to take a look at it. After they finished and I paid for their services, no satisfactory answer was given for why it died or what could be done to prevent it. Just something about some kind of water hose being replaced??The second time my car died was this past Nov 1st. The day before I heard noises coming from my car but I couldnt be certain. Again no check engine light or anything. So as I drove to work again on the highway all of the sudden a check engine light comes on and my car dies. I barely make it to the side of the road again with smoke coming out. I called AAA to tow my car to the Hyundai dealer. They wont be able to look at it until mid December. All the local Hyundai dealers were booked. I took it to an auto repair shop to run diagnostics and was told my engine had seized. I would need to replace the engine. This car is only 4 years old, I cant believe it. Right now once I get my car in the shop, I am praying the manufacturer will cover replacement of the engine which I was quoted costs $10k! My remaining car loan is more than that. Come next year, whether replaced engine or dead car Im selling my losses and chucking it. Hence, my presence on ConsumerAffairs. Looking for a better reliable car. (Sigh) Hopefully I can warn others. Its comforting to see my experience is not unique to me.
Blue Link is terrible. It is so expensive too. The app hardly ever works which is annoying. I like the concept but it doesnt work! I was still willing to pay for the remote start with hopes that the app would get better. However I cant pay for it because it wont let me do it online, no one will answer my emails or my phone call! Customer service is SO bad. I have called a few times and after waiting on hold for 33 min a nice person answered but was unable to help me. I asked for a manager and was told one would call me in 2-3 hours which is annoying but whatever. I wait... no call.I call back the next day and was told Oh... it has only been about 16 hours. Wait at least 24 someone will call you. Well it is a few days later, no call. I hate calling them because it takes over 30 min to get a person on the phone and they cant help at all. Multiple emails have gone unanswered. It is a mess and my service is up. I guess they dont care about quality or customer service.
I am trying to begin the process of making a lemon law claim on our Santa Fe. I am wondering if anybody else has had problems with the back liftgate automatically closing. We have had it repaired 3 times already, and now after taking it in 6 months ago they have still not been able to get it fixed for what would be the 4th time. I have been hit in the head numerous times, and the other day my son was trapped by the liftgate. Luckily I was there to get it off of him, because it will not stop coming down unless you pull very hard against it and he is 8 and was face down.The dealership is useless, they have been ordering the parts for 6 months. We have called repeatedly and get the same answer. Unfortunately there is not another dealer close enough for us to go to, and they also have told us we have to get it repaired at their dealership. This is a joke, and I was wondering if others have had the same issue. Just trying to get all the evidence I can to try and force a resolution. We basically do not use the back of our car anymore. Hyundai is awful.
I purchased a 2014 Hyundai Tucson Limited in April 2014. At that time I was pleased with it and the Blue Link App. I was happy with the dealership, Hyundai of Huntsville TX. The BLUE LINK features for the Remote and Guidance expire after 3 mos so you have to purchase what you want to keep...$99 a year for each!! Most autos have these features indefinitely for free.I purchased the REMOTE package as I dont need the GUIDANCE. As soon as I purchased the package, many of the features I enjoyed under the REMOTE no longer worked...i.e., the Valet alert and to be able to turn it off and on through the app on my phone and also the GEO fence alert. It no longer sends me text messages either. If I am in a restaurant, I want to be able to set the valet alert from the app on my phone if I forget to set it before getting out of the car. If Im away from home and my car is at home, I want to be able to set the GEO fence through the app like I used to before the GUIDANCE pkg was removed.HYUNDAI BLUE LINK has UPDATED AND IMPROVED an app that no longer works the way it did when I paid for it. I have gotten no satisfaction through multiple calls and emails. I paid for a service from HYUNDAI that I no longer receive because the TECH SUPPORT is worthless and they cannot put the app back the way it was to include the features I paid for.I proved to them that when they took the GUIDANCE package off that I no longer wanted, that it also took away the features that I am speaking about. Unless you KEEP AND PAY FOR THE GUIDANCE, you dont get the feature of turning the VALET and GEO off through the phone app. ALSO THE TEXT ALERTS DO NOT WORK FOR IT!! WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO CHECK MY EMAIL TO SEE IF MY CAR HAS BEEN MOVED WITHOUT MY PERMISSION!! I think HYUNDAI needs to make things right and get the app back where it was when I paid for it or give me some sort of compensation....like leave the GUIDANCE AND REMOTE ON MY CAR FREE FOR THE LIFETIME I HAVE THE VEHICLE. My husband has the same features on his Chrysler Town and Country....doesnt have to pay extra for even the LIFETIME MAPS and his actually works like it supposed to without all the extra hassle. Needless to say, I wont be buying another HYUNDAI and will be telling others about the issues I have.
I am having a huge issue with the quality of service that I am receiving from Hyundai’s service department in Carlsbad. I had an issue with my car on Friday 10/5 around 730 am. I had the car brought to the service department at the dealership by AAA that morning. I received a call from the AAA driver that my car was dropped off at 815. I didn’t hear anything until 2pm from Ulysses that they received my car. He had a second to look at it and maybe it had just run out of gas. I explained that it was having issues prior & when the AAA guy jumped in it did turn on before bogging out so if they could do a diagnostic to the car just to make sure everything else was fine.He asked for my consent to put $20 worth of gas in it and then let me know if it turned on before doing the diagnostic. It has now been 5 days and I have not received one text or call. I called to get an update about the gas, but Ulysses had already left for the day. When I called today I was placed on hold for 13 mins before a rude receptionist told me Ulysses was out for the next two days and won’t be getting to my car. Is this what I can now normally expect from this location? Before moving out here I would take it to the dealership in Corona and they have always given me the best service, quick and communicated great with what was going on. I now feel slight nervous and used leaving my car at a dealer that is so unresponsive and upright rude every time I’ve called.
Don’t Buy it and waste your time and money! I lease Hyundai Tucson on December 2018. The car was running perfect for 3 months. The start showing same problem over and over, the problem is happened often but in not continuous manner. The problem is:1. If the car off, once you insert the key in ignition, the key stuck and not turn the car on. After 15 to 30 minutes the car back to normal.2. If the car on ... suddenly the maintenance light, the turned on, the AC turned off, the front left signal off, the engine overheated and when you turn the car off the key stuck in ignition. The issue continue happened almost once a week for 30 minutes and then disappeared and back running normal. I took one of my vacation day and took it to the dealer. I explained the issue in detail, he said as far as the issue not continues he can diagnose it.“People who create car cannot identify issue and leave you with possibility to stuck in the middle of nowhere of that issue happened ... funny right”. Every time the issue happening I called hyundai to come pick up the car and find out what’s going out and give me a loaner car since my work required a car all time —- customer service, case manager reject my request. Last time the issue cont. so I called the road side assistance. They took it to the dealer. The car was in repair for three days. Hyundai did not give me a loaner car and they offer the max reimbursement for rental car $38/day... that offer after I had a case # with them and two days after I was without car ... in NYC is impossible. The min car rental is $60/day in NYC and that for smaller car than the Tucson.The dealer claim that he fix it by replacing the ignition. 30 minutes after I pick the car up and on my way back the issue is happened again for 30 mins... Again back to same hyundai concept cannot identify their car issued .... funny. That would be the last car I buy or lease from hyundai. Except if you wanna ride a car with a fancy shape but 20 yrs old keep showing problems.
Yesterday I put my car for service. In my car there is little bit problems like my boot is not open quite often, my GPS is freezing etc. I ask that guy to check. He told me Hyundai didnt give him money to check what is the problem. If it is not working then they will fix. I told him I bought a headache with my money. I am not happy with their attitude and expression. I will never recommend anybody to buy Hyundai. I will sell my car as well.
The people are great when it comes to buying your car. But when it comes to helping fix it it is a nightmare. I got a new engine 3 months ago. They had it for 9 weeks. After 3 months of having it now it is having another issue and no one seems to know how to help other than fixing it. The parts are nowhere to be found and they have NO loaner cars, which I was told at first one wouldnt be given to me because my warranty didnt cover it even though had they done it right in the 9 weeks they had it, I wouldnt be in the position I am right now with NO car. After struggling for 7 weeks last time, they finally gave me a loaner the last 2 or 3 weeks of it all.Now we are at yet another situation where they cant help. This is completely aggravating and disappointing from Gates. I have been with them 7 years and this has been the worst yet. No big issues have happened in the past. My car is a 2014 with 41,000 miles and it shouldnt be where it is now. It has been well maintained and cared for. Before you buy, just know they are great but thats their job when selling. But when it comes to fixing things later on down the road, good luck.
I have a used 2013 Hyundai Sonata and recently gas gauge just stop working while I was driving. Was saying that it was empty but I know I had a half a tank of gas. I let it sit for awhile and it started back right but stop again. And now my check engine light on. Has anyone else had this problem and what was done?
I purchased the car late Sept 2015 and as of Feb 2016 have had issues with the idle, shaking at a complete stop and not getting the mileage advertised. I spoke to the dealership and Hyundai corporate and was told that no resolution is available at this time that when a resolution is available they would contact me. Am I just suppose to keep throwing my money away putting gas in this car and making my payments when its not even running appropriately?
The Hyundai extended warranty is a joke, I purchased one in 2007 with my new Tucson. However, absolutely nothing that has gone wrong on my car was covered. The A/C blower is intermittent. Its connector was not covered because its in the passenger compartment, only $600. The air bag light comes on, turns out the seat belt assembly isnt covered either, another $500. The warranty apparently only covers items that you cant see or touch and items that they cant find a way for you to see or touch. To top it off, there is nothing that tells you exactly what parts are covered. That information is only available at the dealer.
I purchased a new 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT in January 2014. I bought the Titanium package with my car and about two months later I hit a pothole and ruined my tire. I filed a claim and they not only didnt pay the $200 but never even responded other than to say they needed more documentation (which I submitted). This service is not worth the energy to get a reimbursement! Additionally, my car was advertised as getting 30-39 MPG. I havent averaged over 21 MPG in the past year and I have only 8,000 miles on my car of which 70% are highway miles. Ive tried to deal with this disparity through my dealership (Rogers Hyundai) and have tried contacting Hyundai directly with no response. There should be some compensation for such a huge difference in promised mileage.
I recently called/Hyundai roadside assistance, noticing that it included towing. My vehicle has a flat tire, and at this point I don’t have a ton of extra money. I live 200 feet away from a Firestone tire, a relative helped by purchasing the tire I needed and Firestone said they would install it. All I have to do is get the vehicle or the wheel over there. Well Hyundai Veloster don’t come with a spare tire or jack. So I can’t jack the car up and take the wheel off, this didn’t seem like a problem knowing I had roadside assistance. Well roadside assistance will not hold me across the street where I already have a fully paid tire waiting, they would however bring me to a Hyundai dealer but they are non-local to me. I was told by the tow company that exceptions can be made so I spent time on the phone with Hyundai’s customer service just so that they could tell me no. I can assure you after customer service like this I will never return to Hyundai again. This is a lack of compassion for their consumers, I understand you want me to be brought to a Hyundai dealer so the dealer can make the money on the tire and installation, but in my particular situation you should’ve okayed a tow across the street; don’t buy a Hyundai thinking you have someone there for you when you need it. You don’t.
The 2012 Hyundai Sonata is pretty and stylish inside and out. I bought the Limited Trim with all the bells and whistles. Problems: The steering began to tug to one side while the car was still under bumper-to-bumper warranty. We took the car several times to the dealership and they could not see anything wrong with the vehicle. I was told this behavior was within Hyundais specification and that it was normal for the vehicle. This is the first vehicle that I have owned that has this abnormal normalcy. This problem has not gone away. Vibration. I cannot tell you enough how irritated I have been with this vibration. Once you go over a certain speed (Im not sure at the moment, but Im not talking of highway speed - just normal in-town speed), the car begins to vibrate. Ive gone to the dealership over and over and over. I am tired and angry that a brand new 2012 car will behave this way and the people at the dealership cant figure out what the seems to be the problem.Not too long ago, my wife and I noticed that when turning the vehicle made a certain noise as if something was about to break, as if some metal was hitting another metal. The dealership said it was a steering column problem and we had to pay out of pocket to fix it since we have put over 60,000 miles on the car. The car has gone out of bumper-to-bumper warranty. The lingering problems (listed above), I have to fix out of pocket. It will take a lot, a whole lot, for me to buy a Hyundai vehicle ever again. I loved the roominess and stylishness of the Sonata, but it seems that those are about all it has. I am very disappointed in this vehicle to say the least. My 2009 Chrysler 300C never gave me these troubles.
I bought a new 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT. I was promised 27 city 37 highway. I am barely getting 22 city and 31 highway. My sister bought the same car a month later and is getting the same results. We took the cars in for a Mileage Check and they did a completely fraudulent test with bogus results and basically told us to get lost - there was nothing they could do for us. Details: They made us top the engine and returned our cars having NOT been topped off - hence the faulty results.
I have had this car for 14 days. When I bought it the salesman could not get the nav to show anything but one major interstate. I trusted (HUGE MISTAKE) that the dealership would make it right. Now they tell me it has to be set at 150 feet to show street names. If youre on the highway going 60 mph - or even back roads at 40 - you wont have enough time to make the correct turns. Had they been honest about the severe limitations of the cars navigation system, I would have NEVER bought it. It would have been a deal breaker. I feel the dealership beginning to be very sleazy about this: Hyundai Great Lakes in Streetsboro, OH. Theyre basically telling me tough luck.I will not take the car back; am preparing to call my lawyer and will scream to the high heavens about this. I was tricked and lied to by this dealership. JUST DONT BUY A HYUNDAI... SEEMS LOTS OF THE DEALERS ARE SLIMY!!
I got a flat on my new 2015 Sonata Hybrid. Called roadside assistance and they told me I had to have it towed to the nearest Dealership. I thought it had something to do with it being a Hybrid but it turns out that the cars dont have spares, they have inflation kits. Going to the dealer is normally not a problem but it was SUNDAY!!!!!! I told the person at Roadside that but it didnt seem to faze her. The nearest dealership was my only option. So now my car is stuck there overnight and I miss a days work because I work 35 miles away. If they brought me home I could have had it fixed. If they brought me to Pep Boys or any tire place I could have had it fixed. They need to get their heads out of their butts over there. Ill be getting AAA to avoid the expense of Free Roadside Assistance.
Back in February, we traded our 2011 Hyundai for a 2012 Hyundai. We couldnt stop the final payment before it was sent and were told not to worry because they would just turn around and refund it.” A dozen calls and 37 days later, we finally received our refund. Then, our dealership messed up the paperwork for the refund of our extended warranty and it was sent to Hyundai Motor Finance. Now, three weeks later, we are still fighting to get that money returned to us. To top it off, because the credit for the car payment sat in the account so long and they didnt close the account because of the credit, they charged us account fees which they are now calling me at my office to collect. So they owe me $2000, which they dont seem to care about. But they are harassing me at work for $23.00, which I am told during every phone call is a mistake. We have the 2012 financed through them and have never been late. We even pay a little extra every month. In return, this is the treatment they give their customers. I have never seen such horrible service, apathy, lack of concern, and blatant disregard for the customer. I am disgusted with Hyundai Finance and will never deal with them again, even if this means this is the last Hyundai I ever purchase.
If you plan to lease a Hyundai, read the contract!!! I wanted to pay off the vehicle early, to purchase something other than a Hyundai and was told by the leasing company it would be an additional $400.00 to return the car in early, or on time. You would think, being that my husband works for the dealership, he would have been told this... so angry!!!
Issues with the 2015 Sonata and no help from Bluelink or Hyundai - I have a car with 5492 miles and the check engine light comes on. I go to service, they want to take my car for God knows how long. They dont have the part. So I refuse to leave it. I explain to them that driving with a bad VCM is going to cause more problems. They are indifferent. They refuse to reimburse me if I do it. They refuse to help me locate the part. I tell them that it is a safety issue for others around me as well as myself. Again indifference. Snotty attitudes and no solutions other than we will get back to you in three business days which is actually five days. The car is sputtering, dumping fuel and to them it is no big deal. First and last car I will ever buy from them. Oh and my friends 2015 Sonata also had to go to the shop at 2500 miles for a shut valve and when it was repaired was worse than before and the dealership damaged his rear bumper and spoiler and then he had to lose the car for another three days. I can go on and on about how horrible this vehicle is. Do not let the looks fool you, while it may be redesigned and the price tag has gone up it is still a lousy company. And what good is the warranty if they do not stand behind it?
Update from last post. Nothing new on positive side other than more wasted time and lets say more salt water in the open wound. They call me back like they were concerned to follow up on the outcome. Follow up, I scratch my head as they said they wont cover what they have known was an ongoing issue even a class action law suit over the very same paint issue. Sorry you are outside the warranty period. I asked, Why are you wasting my time to only say what you said the last time. They make a car. They have a known issue with the paint adhering to the car. They dont tell you or post about it so you can stay away from buying a car with an issue. So you buy a car only to have to spend over $1200 to have the car roof stripped down and repainted. That people is a company that truly understands customer service. They dont stand behind their product when they know they have had an issue, we as the consumer have to pay for it in the end. ONCE AGAIN AND LET ME BE CLEAR I WILL NEVER EVER PURCHASE A NEW OR USED CAR THAT IS MADE BY HYUNDAI. If I sound upset you are correct.
I called road assistance on my 2016 Azera. After 1 years and half the car wont start. I have been waiting for the towing car almost 3 hours. Not a fast service at all. Very disappointing. I called back and they said the first driver had an accident on the freeway and that they are sending another one.
I have a 2012 Sonata that had less than 80,000 miles on it and the engine completely blew. I found out that my cars motor was recalled so I contacted Hyundai and they brought my car into the shop. They paid for my new motor and even for my rental car for the weeks I was without my car which is very generous and I am grateful for, however the customer service since has been terrible.My car was taken into the shop in September and was returned in November. I was told November 7th that if I sent in a picture of a monthly statement and proof of registration they would reimburse me for the months of September and October because my car was in the shop those months. I tried calling the number of the representative I was given 2-3 times a week just to get an update with no answer once. I emailed the customer service line which took 20 days to respond saying the sources of what I turned in (the exact items they asked for) were not good enough for the reimbursement to go through.It is now December 9th. I STILL have not heard from my representative and still have not heard if I will even be getting a reimbursement with what I sent in. Its just very frustrating. In addition when they replaced my motor they also replaced my BRAND NEW starter as well and will not reimburse me for that even though it was only a couple days old. Will never buy a Hyundai again.
This complaint is in regards to the Hyundai customer service team. I have been in contact with several associates and managers, concerning a state to state transfer of my vehicles registration since November 19th, 2021. On November 19th, 2021, I contacted the team (via (800) 523-4030) to ask the best course of action for receiving, completing and returning the required documentation for this request. I was advised to mail in the documentation, to the overnight office located at the following address: 5505 N. Cumberland Ave., Ste 307 Chicago, IL 60055-4301.The package was delivered on Nov 22, 2021 at 9:48 am and signed for by an associate. After not receiving any follow up, I contacted the team again on December 9th, 2021 to confirm delivery. No confirmation was provided and I was told they would be following up with their partners in Chicago. I followed up again on December 17th and the 27th, still no answer or record of previous conversations. On the 27th I resubmitted the state to state transfer request via email/secure message. I was referred to the escalations department and have followed up 5 times since as resent the email once. Including today. There is still no record of notes from previous conversations or requests previously sent.Today I asked for a 4th submission via secured messaging, a copy of my title and for yet another email to be sent to the titles and complaints department. None of which has taken place. I am currently paying monthly for a vehicle I cannot legally operate, due to the customer service teams blatant neglect for the last 2 months. Each time I call I have to repeat this story. Enough is enough.
I purchased a 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT new, and have driven it for four years, putting about 70K miles on it. Based on my multiple bad experiences with this car, I will never again purchase another Hyundai vehicle. First - as is well known, the true MPG is nowhere near the marketing claims made by Hyundai (and there is an unresolved class action lawsuit underway to address that). Then I had a problem where the rear quarter-panel window trim fell off - fortunately I found a TSB published on the internet about that, so Hyundai fixed it under warranty. If I hadnt researched the problem and printed out the TSB, the dealer would have charged me $$$ for the repair.Then most recently I had a problem where the clutch started chattering/slipping. My mechanic discovered that the transmission input shaft seal was defective/leaking. Even though this is covered by the Hyundai 10 year/100K warranty - Hyundai refused to honor the warranty and pay for the repair. I cant wait to trade in this car, and kiss Hyundai goodbye forever. If you are considering buying a Hyundai vehicle, I would recommend purchasing instead a vehicle with higher quality/reliability and from a manufacturer who stands behind their product and their warranty commitments (think Honda, Toyota, Mazda). And definitely dont count on the Hyundai 10 year/100K warranty actually providing you any protection from product defects.
On two occasions during the past three months the battery in my 2011 Sonata Hybrid with 31000 miles has had to be jumpstarted by AAA. After the last incident last week I took the car to the dealer where the car was purchased and the battery was shown to be in perfect condition. I was told that if the dead battery problem occurs again, I should not jump-start the car, but have the car towed in to the dealer for diagnosis. Obviously an electrical problem exists, and towing the car to a Hyundai dealer will obviously be a problem, particularly if I am out of town on a weekend. I dont believe that I should have to bear the cost of travel to my home or hotel costs because of a problem due to a Hyundai fault. Because of this problem, I cannot risk travelling out of town. Please give me some advice to deal with my dilemma. Apart from the MPG issue which I have accepted, THIS is a SAFETY matter that requires a response.
I purchased my 2015 Sonata in January of 2016. After 3 days of ownership I noticed the panoramic roof was rattling, I returned to the dealership and the sales person said the car was just having some growing pains (this is the 3rd car I have owned with a pano roof - 05 Scion Tc and 14 Sonata Limited). I took him for his word and took a short road trip and the rattle only got worse. At 1822 miles I returned to the dealership and complained about the roof, and I was rewarded with the services manager telling me the 15s have been having issues with their pano roofs. They lubed everything up and told me they would call me when they had a fix. At 3998 (3/17/16) miles I returned to the dealership with the issue growing worse, once again Hyundai lubed the seals and said it was fixed. At this point I had enough and contacted Hyundais customer hotline and filed a complaint, and Hyundai didnt bother to respond. Shortly after my roof sustained some damage from debris and the dealership refused to work on it. They even joked around about maybe once the insurance company fixed my roof the rattle would go away. Once again I contacted customer care and filed a complaint warning of a lemon law violation. My case was passed on and I called back every single day for almost a month until I had someone return my call. Hyundai agreed to replace my entire roof under warranty, this was done in 8/8/16 at 10161 miles. Hyundai agreed to place their best warranty on the car at no cost to me and assured me the roof was fixed. A few weeks later the rattle slowly started to come back, it slowly got worse and the dealership in several undocumented occasions lubed up the seals. Once again I called customer care and spoke with their regional person who was helping me and raised my concerns. He agreed to send a engineer out to check my roof and if he determined the rattle was there Hyundai was going to buy back my car. On 3/6/17 I dropped my car off with an ever present rattle and picked it back up on 3/7/17 only to be informed that the rattle was not found by their engineer. On 3/8 Hyundai denied my claim for a buy back stating the roof was working as it is designed to do. Now I have to file a BBB complaint to get this issue resolved.
I phoned Hyundai Roadside assist at 8.30 am for my car in my driveway to be towed to my preferred Hyundai dealer which is only 25km away. I was told there is a 3 hour wait, 1 pm came, still no tow truck, I called them & apparently my request had been canceled. So, I have to wait another 3 hours! 4 pm arrived & still no tow truck!!! I then phoned & canceled for today! Hopefully, better luck tomorrow!!! If not, A Current Affair here I come! I tried to contact Customer complaints to NO avail!!!
I have purchased 3 new Hyundais in the last 4 1/2 years. I would consider myself a loyal customer. On 8/19/18 I stopped at Jenkins Hyundai in Ocala, FL. to purchase my 4th Hyundai in 4 1/2 years. I had with me the internet information on the SUV I was going to purchase. Listed below plus the window sticker posted on their website.Detailed Pricing. As you can see above $26,800 Final Price. Only a fool would fall for this scam!I ask why they didnt list the $35,800 on the internet and their answer was we dont have to. This is totally dishonest! In doing some more research on the SUV and cars on the Jenkins lot I discovered most if not all are priced this way and are not listed on the website. They are all similar to the deal I was served up. The bottom line is that the website price is a scam to get you to the dealership so they can rip you off. This was a horrible experience. At previous dealerships when purchasing a Hyundai I was treated with respect and they negotiated in GOOD FAITH! You should be ashamed for having a crooked dealerships like this one!
I have never, in my life, been treated so rudely. Their customer service rep hung up on me. I thought she had all the information that she needed and gone to find out. The next day when I was expecting my paperwork to be where it was supposed to, it was not. So when I called back the next day, upset that my paperwork had not been transferred, the rep on the phone was once again rude. The rep promised my paperwork would be there in 1-2 hours, and it was never done on time. Not only is this now costing me money, but I was treated horribly as well. And with an interest payment of 20% on a car, they should invest money in training their reps.
I can create a quote online for a 2012 Hyundai Elantra Limited. It has a black exterior, beige interior with the tech package and without the cargo net, cargo tray, floor mats, ect. When I asked the dealership, they never have these. They refused to order it, stating Hyundai does not take request. Additionally, all the cars on their lot have the crap I do not want (cargo net, cargo tray, floor mats, etc.) This adds up to $400 worth of junk. I asked them to remove it and they wont. Shouldnt that make it a Standard Option? If that is the case, isnt that false advertisement? The website advertises something that the dealerships will not deliver. I am reporting this to the Better Business Bureau and suggest others to do the same.
Since I have had the car April 2015. I had to buy front brakes and rotors 3 weeks after the purchase for inspection. The dealer told me they dont have to replace the brakes for Pa. inspection. How can they sell a car with bad brakes. Also this car has an issue with the tire pressure sensor no matter what pressure you have. And now I am getting a fuel sensor error causing the check engine light to come on. I am scare that with the sensor for the fuel may cause issues with the fuel gauge and not knowing the amount of fuel you have such as reading 1/2 fuel and being empty. This needs to be addressed via Hyundai to repair this asap.
I own a Tucson ix35, I am very happy with the car to the point that I wanted to change my old one for a new Tucson. My disappointment started after I took it to the shop because of a hesitation problem. It was a Friday, at first I was attended adequately. They asked my phone to call me the next day (Saturday) to inform me what the car needed to solve the problem. They never called me until I showed up on Monday in the shop to see what the problem was. They have not even touched the car and they were surprised to see me there, at 3:00 p.m. I received a call telling me that the price was approximately 360 u.s.d because they did not know if other parts were faulty, showing that they have not checked the car professionally and technically to what I said to suspend the work.When I appeared to take my car, the person in charge tried to give me a not convincing explanation for the delay with a not very friendly attitude. After he was asked about report a serious shop is supposed to give the customers before delivering the car, the guy said Do you know what a check up is? and urged me to pay 39 u.s.d. My son was about to react but I signaled to calm down. I did not say a word, paid the bill and left the shop. The car was as dirty as I left (I do not know if they do not have any more the policy of delivering a clean car or simply the 39 dollars I paid are not worth it). Anyways the summary is: I as a customer feel mistreated and I am seriously reconsidering the possibility to buy another Hyundai. Take this information of my bad experience to try to improve the quality of the service. My best regards.
Had a headlight out on 2011 Sonata. A new lamp from an aftermarket dealer did not work. Yet both the old lamp and the new one were tested and shown to be good. (I had a mechanic with me and he verified both lamps were good and could not provide an explanation why good lamps would not work). Took vehicle in to Burdick Hyundai, Onondaga County, NY. Manager gave me a lamp (Phillips) he said was bad, that that brand did not work out well in Hyundais, apparently being the one I had changed. I paid for the service and took the bad lamp back to the parts dealer. The parts dealer informed me they did not sell the lamp I was given - the lamps I had purchased were Sylvania. Called the parts manager who said the mechanic must have just given him the wrong bulb. Asked for the old lamp so I could get a refund from a parts dealer. Was told I had not asked for the old parts. Called me back once, did not call back as he stated he would the second time. In the meantime, I put the original old lamp back in the headlight and it worked. Something is wrong with this picture. The lamps would not work when I took it in, it works now, but the lamp I brought in cannot be located to check it. I am concerned they did warranty covered work and charged me for a bulb repair. I expected an explanation and when the parts manager did not call me back, I wrote to Hyundai. The amount is minor, but I do not like how the dealership and now Hyundai handled it. Hyundai Corporates response was not what I had expected. Hyundais Reply Sent at 7:28 PM. Relevant portion of the form letter below:...Please keep in mind while the dealerships are authorized to sell, and maintain our product, we are unable to influence how the dealerships conduct business, reach diagnosis or decide to retain old parts. The best way for you to resolve your concern about the diagnosis and headlamp in question is to bring it to the General Managers attention...In other words I read that as Hyundai is not responsible for the performance of their dealerships so complaining to Hyundai gets you a form letter and no action. Hyundai appears to back the dealership, not the customer. I assumed Hyundai would care as their name is on the vehicle. I was wrong. I suppose my issue is minor, but it appears to represent a corporate attitude that will not help you if you were to have a major complaint about a Hyundai dealership. Caveat emptor!
I made an initial request for a warranty on the defective drivers side seat of my 2010 Hyundai Sonata with 15,000 miles on its odometer. The seat which collapsed in on itself has allowed metal beneath seat cushion to protrude upward causing uncomfortable and unsafe driving condition for driver. Hyundai has refused to replace the defective seat after three attempts on my behalf and has denied my third request, stating it is considered normal wear and tear. How could this be when the vehicle is only 2 years old ? I am requesting now from you, a fourth time, to replace the defective seat before I take further action. I hope you will stand by your product and warranty of which I am otherwise very happy with and reconsider my request to warranty the defective seat. Thank you for your help.
I paid 36,853.00 for a Sonata turbo Tech pack and came with a FOD. Chrome tailpiece rusted within in the first week. I examine carefully several time where this dusty rust came from. Why I have rust particle in top of the tailpipe every day? UMMM To repair I have to paid 400.00 dollars to the body shop to remove the bumper cover and surprise, we found metal shaving in the cavity of the bumper frames were the two bolts hold in place the uni-body and the bumper frame. We have photos and planning to reporting to BBB. Manufacturers corporation sometimes they have angry employee damaging the products to make the company look bad. The quality control department for Hyundai is completely responsible for any FOD left in a car. The dealer was notified, they dont care. I submit all the evidence to Allstate claim department. Total repair 650.00.
Brought in my 2015 Hyundai Elantra for service, mechanic stated it needed an oil pump and an engine and it would take a month to fix. When I asked about a rental I was told that they had no cars. Tie my car up for a month and dont offer alternate transportation. Totally unacceptable. I will never purchase another hyundai ever again.
I slid off the road and called roadside assistance. I had been pulled out about a month ago, also. This time they said they would not pay for being pulled out. We have had a severe winter and have had a lot of ice and snow. On the Hyundai advertising it says, 5 years unlimited roadside assistance, with 24/7, 365 day service. The roadside assistance representative said they recently changed their rules. (Almost a year after I purchased my 2013 Sonata) I talked to representative **. She never told me what rule they changed. I told her they couldnt change the rules retroactively. She said they could and did so. She referred me to the towing service subcontractors. (Cross Country Motor Club) The motor club informed me that the car had to be less than 10 feet from the road, to be pulled back onto the road. I asked him who made that new rule and they could not tell me that. I told them that if a car slid into the ditch, it would be 10 feet from the highway 90% of the time, and that would make roadside assistance unusable 90% of the time. I threatened to go public to the internet and also press a possible lawsuit. My car is well within the 10-foot rule. They still refused. I’m handicapped and a senior citizen. The roadside assistance was a major reason why I purchased the car. Now, Hyundai is going back on their word. I started to call my dealer and before I could talk to him, a towing company called and said they would be at my place within 2 hours. I called the towing company and asked if Hyundai was paying for it and they said yes. Hyundai previously said they would call to get me help, but I would be charged $170.00. I dont think that any customer should put up with a company that treats its customer in the above manner.
Single mother of 3 small children. Barely scraping by only to have my Hyundai that is still under warranty blow the engine. Drop it off at dealership and was told a week till they could look at it. It’s been a month! And $1400 in rental car fees that I don’t have! Now I am completely without a vehicle and NO ONE, not consumer affairs, case manager, service dept itself can give me at the very least an ETA on when I can have my car back. Pathetic way to run a company. The guy who sold me this lemon at Hyundai of Fort Myers, the people refusing to call me back at Gainesville Hyundai and Corporate Hyundai who basically just say “I’m sorry” but have no solution. I want to thank you for putting my job on the line and leaving me and my kids stranded. I will never buy another Hyundai again!!
We loved our 2006 Hyundai up until a few months ago. The check engine light came on at slightly more than 50,000 miles so we took it in for service. It has been back 3 times to the tune of $1300 plus, somehow needed all new brakes, canister close valve replaced (supposed reason for light being on), and the check engine light is still on. The last time we took it back they said the gas cap was loose. The light stayed off for about three days then came back on again. We had four different people check the gas cap, but it stayed on. We then went out to get a new gas cap -- light is still on and the car has a ticking sound that it did not have before the service.I have called customer service three times -- they are nice, but do nothing -- sent a FedEx letter to corporate -- it was refused by their mail room -- so will now take the car to a regular mechanic who can perhaps find the problem. DO NOT BUY A HYUNDAI!!! They run great until a problem comes up and then the service is not there. We used the Danbury Dealership in CT, but have heard the one in Vero Beach, FL is just as bad.
2013 Hyundai Sonata - Defective Steering Wheel Locking. Few weeks ago, my sister suffered a fatal accident caused by a defective Hyundai Sonata steering wheel locking while she was driving on the highway. As a result, she suffered a severe vertebrae injury, taken to a nearby hospital in an ambulance, hospitalized and treated for days, and has only recently started physical therapy. Medical bill and treatment costs till now well over $100K, even with health insurance. Inability to work for over 6 months. Immobility and discomfort. The list goes on and on. Anyone else in this unfortunate situation or has heard of similar accidents caused by a defective steering wheel? What do we do? What can we do?
Genesis is a separate something in the Hyundai universe. When it comes to finance or services, its Hyundai. The car itself is a gem. Nothing to say about performance, comfort, and all. For the service portion of it, its a complete disaster. Worse is when ethical issues reveal themselves. Believe it or not, parts from my engine were stolen during a 5,000 miles revision in a dealers service shop, false diagnosis of broken parts with a $3,000+ estimate on something verified absolutely functional, like new, not broken at all. Verified by a Genesis engineer after a long fight with management so upsetting this was. And finally the finance department reporting a late payment to the credit bureau when it was clear the payment cleared and all was fine. This is by the way the unresolved issue. They would not budge and remove their rating so obsessed they are to find you, the customer, wrong. Over three managers at the credit customer service department saw the evidence, accepted to make the change, and this was never done. The above shows a scary behavior. Two different dealers (stolen part was my first Genesis and the rest by another dealer where I leased the second G80). Am a customer service professional and very affected by this type of story when I read or hear it from someone. When going through it by myself it is of course more painful. I demanded they take the car back and close the leasing contract at no cost for me. They refused saying it is not a Lemon law violation. Instead as they recognized with their engineer that nothing justified any repair and that it was a scam and offered 3 months break on the leasing payments. Not one word of apology. I responded that it was not about the Lemon law or any default in the car but the simple fact that I cannot trust them moving forward and want to walk away from the relationship. They could not understand that.
You get a lot with the car. My Tucson has a lot of safety features included. I have checked out other cars that those same features are extra. Lane detection, cross traffic detection. Power mirrors, heated seats, power seats, rear view mirror with several features. Power rear Tailgate, with foot activated feature.
Hyundai has sold cars knowingly and not disclosing a defective paint issue. These cars have paint that actually peels right off the body of the car. When Hyundai is contacted they want to pass it off as weather. They know that this defect occurred during the painting process. Please join me in a class action lawsuit forcing Hyundai to recall and be fully responsible for this defect. Please contact the Attorney General in your state and file a complaint. Thank you.
Our new 2013 Sonata Hybrid is getting around 26 MPG, not the 37-40 MPG that was advertised. We purchased the vehicle summer of 2013. So far company is blaming it on the cold after 2 dealership visits. We understand that a few miles can fluctuate, but 11-14 is significant. We would appreciate a follow-up. Thank you.
We have a new Hyundai Sonata purchased 4.31.2001. We currently have about 12,000 miles and the tires will not make it though the winter.They have been rotated as per instructions, the wear on the tires is even. Have had no satisfaction from dealer, they wanted me to rotate at 3K. Tires are Kumho Solus 94H M+S. Why should new tires on a new car not make it 20,000 miles before they have to be replaced?
My warranty was voided by Hyundai because of their authorized dealership installing an alarm system without my knowledge. I was informed of this after I took my car in because of cranking issues, gas smell and car jumping into different geals by itself. After the dealership pulled and worked on everything on my car, they sent a field engineer who told Hyundai to void my warranty. Now I have a car that I cant drive because of safety issues and not one representative from Hyundai cared that my car was is unsafe to drive while Im still paying monthly payments on the car. Its amazing how Hyundai voids a warranty after their authorized dearlership install parts when you didnt ask them too. I eventually was sent an official letter from Consumer Affairs stating that they paid me for this service. Well Hyundai, if you paid me for this service, Im still waiting for the Check!!! Dont TRUST Hyundai. As there commerical says, They shoot straight with their customer. Yes they do, with lies to avoid their obligations.
WHY I WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER HYUNDAI / KIA. (With sincere apologies to anyone I ever influenced into purchasing one). The primary reason I will never own another Hyundai or Kia, or recommend anyone else ever own one, is that they, in spite of their supposed great quality, are inferior products!! Please understand that I do NOT consider this the fault of the dealerships or dealership service departments with whom I have interacted; they have all been very professional, competent, and friendly. This comes down to the fact that the basic cars are junk from the factory and overall quality of the manufacturing is extremely deficient. To wit:I purchased my first Hyundai Sonata, a 2006 with a V-6 engine, in August 2006. It had ten miles on the odometer primarily because I took it for a 2 mile test drive before I bought it. I loved the ride, handling, and everything about the car. When I bought the car, fortunately I negotiated a 100,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty as part of the purchase. In addition, I purchased the 5-year hard-simonizing that also treated the interior fabric. I was planning on driving the car for many years and have regularly maintained it with that in mind.I very carefully broke-in the engine according to the recommendations in the owners manual driving it at a certain rpm for so many miles, etc. It now has just over 117,000 miles. Much of my driving during that time has been highway driving. I have faithfully changed the oil and filters every 5,000 miles. I flushed the engine coolant as recommended as well as had the transmission serviced as recommended. Most of this has been performed by the local Hyundai dealership or by one in Dayton when the Richmond, IN dealer from whom I originally purchased the car went out of business. I have the receipts to prove my ongoing care of the car. Each time I had the car serviced, the dealer did a multi-point inspection of the vehicle and reported all known issues to me. For the first year or so, I was very happy with the car, and recommended Hyundais to others. (As noted, for that I now apologize to them.)Following are the primary issues that I have had with my 2006 Hyundai: 20,500 miles, 11 months after purchase, left front door armrest had to be replaced because the first one cracked, making a popping noise (warranty replacement). 25,500 miles, 1 year 2 months after purchase, noted that A/C system does not seem to be putting out cold air properly, an ongoing problem that has never been resolved to my satisfaction. Dealer continues to claim that system checks out properly; air in this Sonata is not as cool or does not cool as quickly as the second Sonata described below. 25,500 miles, left front door trim backing must be replaced because it is cracked which continued to cause the popping noise described above (warranty replacement). 33,700 miles, 1 year 10 months after purchase, I complained that at times the drivers side window had a scraping noise as it went up and down. (No resolution at this time.)55,400 miles, 3+ years after purchase, both drivers side front seat switch and power mirror switch were inoperable and had to be replaced. (warranty replacement). 61,600 miles, 4 years 1 month after purchase, coil assembly on engine cylinder 1 had to be replaced (warranty replacement). 63,900 miles, 4 years 2 months after purchase, coil assembly on engine cylinders 3 and 5 had to be replaced (warranty replacement). 78,000 miles, 5 years 4 months after purchase, power steering system dampner fell apart and had to be completely replaced (warranty replacement). 82,500 miles, 5 years 8 months after purchase, A/C compressor had to be replaced. In addition, the drivers side window (complained about earlier but not repaired at that time) RF regulator had to be replaced because now not only was there a scraping noise when the window was lowered but also the window would not come back up without help. It was also determined that my headlights were noticeably dimming because the positive cable assembly needed to be replaced but that was expensive and would not be covered under warranty since it was not broken or had not caused the lights to stop working. (Warranty replacement on A/C compressor and window RF regulator; headlights continue to this day to dim noticeably when engine slows down).87,000 miles, 6 years after purchase, replaced drivers side rear door latch and actuator assembly because auto door lock stopped working (warranty replacement). 101,000 miles, 7 years after purchase, and just beyond the warranty period, the alternator had to be replaced (out of pocket expense). Headlights still dim noticeably when the engine slows down.116,500 miles, the engine temperature and interior heater started acting up in a strange way. At first I thought it was a failed engine thermostat which is kind of how it was acting. So I replaced the thermostat. (Even the dealer mechanic later agreed that is the first thing he would have replaced.) In removing the housing that contained the thermostat, one of the three bolts broke off completely just as I was beginning to put torque on the head. This is supposedly a grade-8 bolt. I doubt it! I have never had a thermostat cover bolt break off in over 50 years of driving and working on cars and I have changed a few thermostats in that time. So what should have been a 30 minute job took half-a-day to remove the broken bolt which then required removing more of the hoses than would have otherwise been needed in order to access the broken bolt. Thank goodness it broke off such that I was able to remove it with vice-grips and thus did not have to drill it out to use an EZ-Out, which would have required a lot more time.117,000 miles, the Hyundai is now at the dealer. The dealer mechanic found the reason why the heating system on my Hyundai with the V-6 engine with only 117,000 miles was acting strangely. It had two warped heads. The dealer has no explanation for the problem. The engine had to be replaced. I was unable to purchase a re-manufactured engine, much less a new engine, because Hyundai stopped manufacturing or stocking needed replacement engine parts over a year ago, thus the necessary parts to properly re-manufacture an engine, much less purchase a new engine, are no longer available. Therefore the only solutions were to replace the heads and hope that the current engine block was not damaged, or install a used engine from a salvage yard. The local Hyundai dealer (Wetzel Hyundai in Richmond, IN) has just finished installing a used engine with 78,000 miles on it, 1 year, 12,000 mile warranty. Out of pocket cost - $4,300 with a $200 coupon or it would have been $4500. If you wish to consider the above repairs routine maintenance that is your choice. I do not. I consider it poor manufacturing quality for which I never plan to own another Hyundai or Kia. If you are not convinced by the above related experiences, read on.During the first year of ownership, I loved everything about my 2006 Hyundai Sonata, so much so that I made the mistake of buying a 2007 Sonata for my wife, to replace the 1997 Plymouth Breeze with over 230,000 miles she was driving. I purchased the 2007 Sonata used. It had been owned by one of the salesmen at the dealership whose wife drove it from Richmond to Indianapolis and back each work day. She got pregnant and wanted an SUV by the time the baby arrived, so the salesman was selling the car as part of a trade-in with the dealer for whom he worked at the time. The 2007 has a 2.0 Liter 4 cylinder engine; I purchased the car with 7,275 miles on it. While I did have it hard-simonized with the additional interior protection, I did not purchase an additional warranty I just went with the standard Hyundai warranty of 60,000 miles/7 year bumper-to-bumper and 100,000 miles/10 year power train.When it was still new, everything worked fine. It now has 84,560 miles on it. Just like the 2006 Sonata above, I have had one dealer or the other perform all of the recommended maintenance on the vehicle on a timely basis. I have all of the maintenance invoices to prove it for both cars. In addition, I washed them, or had them washed, somewhat regularly. I took them through the car wash on a regular basis, particularly in the winter after a snowstorm, and always added the underbody wash as well, to wash off the road salt to some degree.Below is a listing of all the things that have gone wrong with that car one continuous stream of ridiculous failures after another due to poor manufacturing quality:24,500 miles, 2 years 2 months after purchase, power seat control switch had to be replaced because of a short in the switch (warranty replacement). 24,500 miles, 2 years 2 months after purchase the rear brake caliper on the passenger side seized, causing me to have to replace the caliper and rotor as well as brake pads on that wheel. No warranty considered normal wear and tear. 29,000 miles, 2 years 6 months after purchase, mirror switch had to be replaced because short in switch caused both mirrors to adjust intermittently (warranty replacement). 35,000 miles, 3 years after purchase, en route to North Carolina in August, the A/C stopped working. A/C compressor totally locked up and had to be replaced (Johnson Hyundai of Cary, NC treated us very well) (warranty replacement).46,600 miles, 4 years after purchase, mirror switch had to be replaced again because of a short in the switch causing the powered mirrors to be totally inoperable (warranty replacement). 68,000 miles, 5 years after purchase, door hanger handle on front passenger side broke off and had to be replaced. (Parts - $30, self-replaced). 70,700 miles, 6 years 4 months after purchase, engine oil pan rusted out and had to be replaced. This was not under warranty; considered to be routine maintenance. (In over 50 years of driving including several cars for over 200,000 miles, I have never, ever had to replace an engine oil pan before.)73,800 miles, 6 years 7 months after purchase, the transmission pan rusted out and had to be replaced. This was also not under warranty; considered to be routine maintenance. (Again I say, in over 50 years of driving, several cars for over 200,000 miles, I have never, ever had to replace a transmission oil pan before. Remember, too, that in winter I regularly run the cars through the car wash to include the underbody wash to get off the road salt and grime underneath the car.) I wrote to Hyundai corporate about the two pans rusting out; the only response I received was a email reply that essentially said, We are sorry you are unhappy with our product.In addition to the specific instances at certain dates and mileages noted above, there are other problems with the 2007 Sonata listed below for which I do not have a corresponding date or mileage but which are ongoing issues: Power mirrors continue to be problematic; no one seems to be able to fix them properly. Now out of warranty so are now essentially manual adjust set and do not touch! Seek function on the radio does not work on AM and only marginally on FM. A little annoying when traveling and attempting to find radio stations en route. Neither sun visor stays in place; currently being held up by bungee cords wrapped around the sun visors and the door hanger handles so that they do not inadvertently drop down into the drivers vision. Because of the embedded courtesy lights in the visors, dealer replacement for each one is in the hundreds of dollars. First the drivers side broke and then a few months later the passenger side malfunctioned.The powered door lock on the passengers side rear door works only intermittently not tied to weather or temperature or any such phenomenon. Half the time it works and the other half it does not. Recently, the drivers side front door has begun to act up on occasion and fails to lock. For over a year now, the cruise control set button typically requires that it be pushed several times before it will engage. I must assume that one of these days it will stop working and I will no longer have cruise control without another expensive replacement/repair.Recently, when replacing the front brake pads and rotors, one of the bolts holding the bracket that holds the caliper in position was extremely difficult to remove. It turns out the bolt was somewhat cross-threaded. Since these rotors had never been replaced until now, it means that the bolt was cross-threaded at the factory during initial installation. My guess is that I will have to soon replace the caliper on that side as it did not easily compress during the repair. I simply do not have the extra money or time needed to fix the ongoing problems, so my wife (especially) will just have to put up with the inconveniences for who knows how long.Brakes: I have had to replace brake pads, and rotors on occasion, much more frequently than I think should be the case. However, I blame that more on our intrusive government controlling our lives in order to protect us from ourselves than on Hyundai. Under the old system of asbestos brake pads, I routinely got 60,000 miles or more out of a set of brake pads (as well as a set of tires). With the Sonatas, I am lucky to get 40,000 miles usually more like 30,000 miles out of a set of brake pads. The only complaint I have with respect to Hyundai is that rotors, when needed to be replaced which also seems to be more frequent than should be the case seem to cost twice as much (from one of the local auto parts stores) than rotors for other brands of automobiles with some notable exceptions. Also, of late, I have begun to have additional incidences of the brake caliper pistons beginning to stick and freeze up meaning I will soon be replacing brake caliper assemblies.I will tell you that I emailed this letter to Hyundai Customer Care and told them that I would give them a week to respond before I sent it to everyone on my email lists and published it as widely as possible over the internet. Customer care did call me a few days later. All they could offer was a case number that indicated that this would be routed to the appropriate offices for consideration on future models. They offered no assistance regarding any of my issues with my Hyundais nor was there any hint of doing so in the future. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why they wasted my time and theirs with a phone call. Basically they called to inform me of the case number which is useless since they have no intention of doing anything. The lady who called me obviously had no authority or power to do anything. When I suggested that she put me through to the President of the company, she told me that there was no phone number for the corporate office although I was welcome to contact them by mail. According to her, not even Hyundai Customer Service has a number for the corporate offices in California. A couple of weeks later, another Customer Care Representative, Brian, called me. Again, it was a waste of both of our times. He did offer to send me some discount coupons for the needed repairs on the 2007 sun visors. I guess since that did not satisfy me and I plan to broadcast this letter as far and wide as possible, I never received any discount coupons.Once again, (as stated above with respect to the oil and transmission pans on the 2007 Hyundai) their primary response was, I am sorry you are unhappy with our product. In essence, their response is, We really dont care about our customers, we just try to make them think we do! They evidently have learned what P.T. Barnum proclaimed many years ago, There is a sucker born every minute. What he was saying is that companies like Hyundai dont need to care about customers like me because there are plenty more where I came from. I just hope you are not one of them like I was. My bottom line is DO NOT BUY A HYUNDAI!!! THE QUALITY OF THEIR PRODUCT, LIKE THEIR CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICE, IS PATHETIC AT BEST AND ESSENTIALLY NON-EXISTENT. LET THE BUYER BEWARE!!!Please feel free to forward this to anyone and everyone you know so they too can be forewarned before it is too late for them unless you are trying to get even with someone for what he or she did to you.
2011 Hyundai Sonata Engine Failure: 05/09, car stalls and will not start. 05/10, towed to local Hyundai dealer Northshore, Vancouver. Service Manager says before the vehicle arrives that it is probably because I do not change the oil. Service manager asks me to authorize payment to diagnose problem. I ask him why I would do that as the vehicle is still under warranty. Service manager says that they cannot proceed without authorization, and tells me the bill will be bigger if the engine has failed. I provide 3/6 service records with the last completed only 1 month before engine failure. Hyundai Canada denies warranty, no relief of cost due to lack of Maintenance. I have asked for all records and inspection criteria from Hyundai Canada and they have declined to provide. Talk to the garage. Its a great way to ensure no warranty is paid. Have Hyundai service garage charge the consumer/customer to prove that it was the consumers/customers fault. $228 for the diagnostic, $3500 for the engine, $1600 for the labor.
This is a Lexus equivalent for half the cost. Among the best cars I have owned. I have the R-Spec which is laser fast and totally upscale. Mechanically flawless to date. Drives like a dream. Fit and finish are superb. Dealer support excellent.
The 2017 Hyundai Tucson drives nice, is roomy, and is much better gas mileage than our previous minivan. However, I really miss sliding doors, which we were used to on our other vehicles. I wish the Tucson had a power trunk and Im not happy with the radio as it doesnt show song titles like our previous model did. Nevertheless, it was our first time leasing so it made the vehicle quite affordable. The Tucson had a better price point than comparable models. It is also physically very attractive and is a beautiful color turquoise. It has a very modern looking interior and exterior as well.
Wondering if anyone with a 2012 Hyundai Sonata has noticed a ring around the sunroof on the inside lining? I am afraid it is mold. Dealer said mold wont grow on the liner. Anyone else experiencing this? I have the car in the shop right now awaiting a pressure test that I am being charged for to find if there is a leak. If there is a leak... guess what? It is not covered under warranty. The warranty for the sunroof runs out at 1 year, 12k miles. Nice, huh?
I was just sitting here thinking, how I am so glad I trade my SS Camaro, for my Kona, as I drive to Fl from NC, once a month, $68 round trio in gas, plus all the safety features it has. Its small but can get up and move if I need to, small but mighty. Its quiet and comfortable, very roomy inside plus the lime green color is very cool. Im happy to tell the world about my Froggy, Hyundai Kona, I love it!
My Hyundai is a great low maintenance car that has good gas mileage. The size is just right without being too big. The interior is spacious with cloth seats which are preferable in the hot south. Seating was still roomy and I also liked the storage space. It was in silver tone which was also better for this climate. I chose model based on consumer and technical reviews. The price was just right for my budget and it came with roof rack. The Hyundai models are much improved these days. I think Hyundai has come a long way in building reasonably priced and sound vehicles that are dependable.
Hyundai Accent GLS is reliable and gets good gas mileage. Accelerates quickly and smoothly. Came with a 100k mile warranty. Smooth driving experience and right turning radius. Easy to maneuver. I like that it has bluetooth, CD player, ac, spacious for a car its size, power locks and windows and comfortable seating. But the bumper is very low and catches on parking spot barriers easily. Power lock should be on trunk too. Heated seats would be nice, as the Elantra has them.
I really should have taken Hyundai up on their return policy! October, 2017 I purchased a new Hyundai Tucson Sport. Salesperson told me that vehicle had Bluelink with remote start and all other features! Waited for car after purchase (5 hours by the way) and took it home. Tried to register Bluelink, only to be told after an hour that the vehicle is not equipped with Bluelink. Phone call to dealership (should have returned it)... they agreed to install a remote start. They installed a rather goofy remote start. It actually went off when I entered the car to try and drive. Long story short, after numerous problems with the car not recognizing the key fob and the alarm randomly going off, they removed the remote start (as they could find no other cause).Fast forward, now my year old car will turn over upon push start, and simply turn off. This has happened over 8 times now. Taken it in to service department and told we cant get it to do that, we cant find anything wrong. Next time, just have it towed. The next time, 20 minutes trying to start - call for tow truck (cancel class I have to teach because I am late). Tow truck arrives & says I have to move your car and what do you know, the car starts! I drove it directly to dealership. I told them keep it, drive it, find out what is wrong and fix it. That was Tuesday. Saturday, nothing - I went and got the car back. Emailed Hyundai Consumer Affairs - given case number with someone will contact you within 3-5 business days. Today, car wont start! Late for work and car still sitting in my driveway! I took video and forwarded to dealership service dept and Hyundai Consumer Affairs indicating I want a car to drive (as I am paying for one that is not driveable) until they find out what is wrong and fix it! That was 3 hours ago... still no phone call or reply of any kind! This was my first and last Hyundai purchase. I will never buy Hyundai - and may end up having to sue! So frustrated!!! I should NOT have to ask for a car to drive, when my car that is under warranty - keeps being inoperable.
I have had nothing but issues since I bought this car. I bought a 2015 Elantra Sport, with 800 miles on it in October of 2015. Seemed like a great car. I got a good deal (I paid 18,000), its a top trim level so hopefully the quality would be good. First thing that happened, the dealership insisted I change the oil every 3,000 miles. The service manual clearly states 7,500 mile intervals. They scolded me and told me to bring it in more often. Okay fine, whatever.Second, the dealership did a recall repair (I never approved, they just did it) to my sunroof, which resulted in a damaged headliner, AND they dropped a screw in my defroster vent that I could hear roll around as I would make corners. I took it back and Hyundai approved replacing the headliner. They also took the dash apart to retrieve the screw. The work order said removed debris, the tech didnt remember what he took out. It also still rattled and then produced a different rattle above 75 MPH. (So much more higher quality coming from the top end trim level). I should note they had the car for several days, no loaner car was given.Next, I noticed my steering column was loose after they disassembled my dash. I could move it side to side. Also the clutch squeaked when you released it. And the dash still rattled. So I took it back in. several days later and no rental car, the steering column was within spec, they couldnt replicate the clutch squeak, and they werent allowed to fix rattles and squeaks past 5,000 miles or something like that (came from the service manager). Next issue, the AC goes out. Its Texas. Its July. Its hot. Can i get a loaner car? No. They werent sure if it could be fixed under warranty (30,000 miles now). How is this not under warranty?! They had the car for several days. Turned out the AC compressor failed internally so it was replaced under warranty. No loaner car.Now, most recently. The car has 59,700 miles. The engine starts to make a noise that sounds like a high speed rattle. My guess was the water pump impeller rubbing. So I took it into a different dealership. This time they cant diagnose it, but its easy to replicate so there is no doubt theres a problem. 5 days goes by and they finally set me up with a rental car through Enterprise. One month goes by and they tell me they are going to replace the engine. That opened up a whole new set of issues. Apparently, the engine in my two year old car is now obsolete. Instead of buying a long block crate engine (like they originally told me) they are buying a short block and sending the engine off to an outside repair shop to build it.I went to the dealership to look at the engine (I do a lot of car repair, and Im a Mechanical Engineer). The timing chain is hanging slack and theyve removed one of the camshaft retainers. The car is parked outside, with no valve cover. Lovely. They tell me the engine is being replaced due to lack of lubrication (very vague and general). My guess was broken timing chain tensioner. I saw no low pressure light, and there was no presence of metal in the oil during the last oil change (I had a sample sent to a lab for analysis). They told me that its a good thing I brought it in when I did. Because my Powertrain Warranty Expires at 60,000 miles! Apparently, because I bought it used the 100,000 mile warranty doesnt apply to me.Well that was it. Im getting rid of the car. I asked them to give me a price on what theyd buy it from me for. They responded with because its having major engine work, we can only give you $6,000. So basically. A $24,000 car, in two years, and 60,000 miles, becomes worth 25% of its original value. I am never buying another Hyundai.
I love the Tucson except the new eco engine. When it changes gears it feels like it is going to stall out but I understand this is made this way because of using less gas.
My wife, 64, was driving out one owner Hyundai Accent on a private road about 15MPH when the airbags suddenly deployed without any impact occurring to the vehicle. My wife received severe bruises on both arms and the face and the windshield was shattered by impact from the passenger side airbag deployment. We were fortunate as she was going very slowly and there was no other traffic... Had she been in busy traffic or on an interstate, there would probably have been a major collision and severe injury or possible death. Hyundai local dealership (Perkins Motors of Colorado Springs) was appraised of the problem but refused to do anything. When we contacted Hyundai HQ consumer affairs we were told that they would send us a packet of papers to be filled out and returned to them. They would then let us know in six or eight weeks whether they would do anything. The car is undriveable... And my wife will never drive it again after the scare she received together with the potential for a much more horrible outcome than actually occurred.Hyundai seems to have no interest in seeing the vehicle and figuring out what may have gone wrong and whether it might be a risk factor for other owners as well, despite the obvious implications of consumer risk when airbags inflate without any cause. I volunteered to haul the car to the local dealership at my own expense and inconvenience and they responded that they would not look at it even if I did so unless I agreed to pay for all repairs in advance. One would think that they would care to find out what might have gone wrong. All in all, it has been a horrible experience and the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Note to all Hyundai owners: I would have to recommend that you NOT drive your vehicles as the potential for a major accident is very real and, like other manufacturers in the past, Hyundai seems to feel no sense of urgency in finding out what the core problem is and fixing it.

On 3rd Sept, I met with an accident and there was some problem in my car. So, I went to one of your authorized center in Chandigarh (Carizma Hyundai) on 4th Sept. as per them loss was around Rs70,000. As there was breakage of head and they committed me itll be rectified with in 15days. They had provided me with Job Card no: **, Car No: **. It took two months to arrange head. After 2 months, they called me and confirmed we have to put crunch shaft which will cost 30000. So total amount comes to be 100000.
I bought a Hyundai i20 in March 2010. Its total running is about 40,000 km, and I have been facing lots of problem with it. At 21,000 km, I was facing engine problems. Now at 40,000 km, it’s repeated again. The company is making excuses that this will not be covered under warranty. Please guide me where I should go to resolve this problem.
It is a common experience for the visors to fall around 60,000 miles on Hyundai Accents. I found 22 complaints on the internet right away, without delving very deeply. The driver visor fell on my head while driving, so I couldnt see for about 15 seconds. This is very dangerous. It also hurt my head. Had to hold the visor up until I got home. Then had to cut it off. The passenger visor fell a few months later. Called customer service and they kept telling me a case manager would call me. He was supposed to call within 3-5 business days. He didnt call for 25 days, until I kept calling and wrote a customer complaint on the Hyundai site. Even though this is quite a common issue... and a safety issue that is happening to many people, I was told that Hyundai wont do anything to help with the costs. It costs $300 to get both visors fixed.
Very durable vehicle that lots of extra perks like electric seats, blind spot mirror, Bluetooth and back up camera. I have owned this Hyundai Tucson for a year and have not had a single problem with it.
Car has been reliable. Good fuel consumption -- diesel. Reverse never engaged smoothly. Needed to replace automatic transmission at 180,000 kms. They dont make cars like they use to – sold my Subaru at 320,000 without any of these problems.
Paint job on 2010 Elantra is terrible. Scratches on the least little things. Is there a recall on paint jobs for these cars?
Bought car in March 2014. On May 28 2014 was driving car in dry conditions at about 25 - 30 mph when the steering failed. Motor and drive train were still operating but the car could not be steered. Narrowly avoided head on collision. As of this day, the car is at dealership and I am awaiting an explanation.
Worse company ever! Basically every time I call looking for my title they claim a piece of paper is lost etc. They have everything they asked for including my buyout check, but every time I call I get nowhere and a huge runaround. Now they say they need a bill of sales. Im buying the car from them but they want a bill of sale from me. I dont get it. Anyone else have this problem?
I purchased a new Hyundai back in April 2011. The corporation has had my name incorrect since the purchase. However, my car title came correct. After the MPG rebate came out, I needed to repair the incorrect name to receive the rebate. After four months, I continued to get the runaround about my incorrectly spelled name. I am no closer to getting it corrected today than four months ago when I first started working on this. They have received my original bill of sale and title with 5 miles on it. I have no issues with the vehicle and the dealership that I purchased the vehicle. However, the corporation has been less than responsive and unable to fix a relative easy problem.
