On December 23, my Hyundai vehicle was repossessed. I was shocked! I double checked my online bank account and could not find any lapses in payments. I tried calling them on December 24 and of course no one was in. I kept trying and finally reached them on Dec 29. When I called them and they said their records show me 41 days late but could not give me the exact information on when I missed a payment. There was a bunch of double talk about how much principal and interest had been applied and they tried to avoid my direct questions such as when my payment is due, what my minimum payment amount was etc. This is no way to do business!!! Then they tell me in order to reinstate my loan, I have to pay $1038 plus repo fees, plus storage cost of the vehicle. Then she tells me that the repo lot only holds the car 2-5 days. That the car had already probably be sent to auction. They have violated my rights in so many ways. Just do yourself a favor and steer clear of Hyundai motor finance. FYI... they and Kia are one in the finance area. Buyer beware!
For being a turbo the Hyundai Veloster does not feel like it. When I try and get it going it tends to stick a lot and then jumps forward real fast. Having the flaps on the steering wheel is a pain. I sometimes knock into them by accident and they change my car to manual which I do not care for. Then I have to slow down and press down on the flap to put it back to automatic.
I am writing to complain about a manufacturing defect I have since I bought a brand new Verna 1500cc in 2006 from Ghabbour in Egypt. The level of motor oil goes to minimum after 2000 to 3000 km. With no reason, the car was sent 3 times to Ghabbour main centers in Abourawash an Kaliuob and each time, it took them between 2 to 5 days. They said it was fixed but the defect is still there. I have no hope in Ghabbour and I stopped going there after I reached 50,000 (warranty) with no fix of the defect. I got a feedback from the market that during 2005-2006, Verna local production had this oil defect and the solution is replacing the motor, but they did not do that and let me suffer. Until now, I have to check the motor oil each 2000 km and add more oil to avoid motor problems. 10 days ago, I had another shock with a Hyundai service center in Egypt. I went for a major maintenance (with changing all fuel tube tree) but after I took the car, I found a problem in acceleration. I went back to them and they told me that a motor sensor need replacement. I went to another non-Hyundai general service center and they told me that the fuel tube tree was fixed in a wrong way, and this has no relation to the motor sensor. Now, I have no trust in Hyundai in Egypt. Even though I want to sell the car, I found out that I will have to go down 20% less than the market price because of the manufacturing defect it has as it needs a new motor. So I have lost my money and my time because of my wrong choice by choosing to buy this measurable car, and now I am experiencing acceleration problems because of the Hyundai service centers bad quality in fixing the fuel tree. It is very disappointing and frustrating to have this experience. I met a service manager in Audi who advised me to write to Hyundai HQ about this, and i am doing it now with no hope after all what I have experienced in the last 5 years with Hyundai in Egypt. During the last 3 years, when somebody asked me about what car to buy, I strongly recommended to not go for Hyundai in Egypt as if the car will have a manufacturing defect, it will not be fixed and you will be losing tour time, money and even safety. This is based on my experience and other peoples experience when I met them in Hyundais main service center during the 3 times I sent the car there to fix the manufacturing defect during 2006-2008. Again, with no hope, I am writing this and hope that this will make you be aware about the bad practice by Ghabbour here in Egypt; that one day will affect you sooner or later. I will help in building a community for customers who suffered from Hyundai in Egypt to bring the real image of Hyundai in Egypt to people who are thinking about buying a Hyundai in Egypt.
Purchased car new in March 2013. Had towed to shop for repairs when brakes failed in May 2013. Received car back in June 2013. Car ran well, battery charged correctly and all was good for awhile. Car started to shudder/jerk a little at takeoffs from a stop again. Light and sporadic. August more frequent, September it worsened and October it had gotten bad again. End of October 2013, left my home and the car shuddered at start and went about 60 ft to stop sign again and breaks locked up solid, no lights or warnings on dash. It happened again at third stop sign! (still with-in two blocks of home). Forget the errand now just have to get it home and call for tow. Pulled out into highway in left turn so I can get home easily, and car stops locked up solid in middle of turn and road. Loaded log truck heading towards me and I cannot get car to move. Took several stomps on accelerator peddle to get it to finally crawl forward. Crash avoided but the grill filled the entire passenger window and then some. Got car home and towed to dealership the following Monday morning the 4th of November 2013. Dealership said they could not duplicate, but had huge data software upgrade for car. This was supposed to be done the first time. I told them on Monday I was not getting back into car period. Now in contact and waiting just a few more days before formal full-out legal battle begins. Hyundai has known about this life threatening safety issue for years and instead of fixing has only made it worse. Do your research before buying. I will be doing a lot more in-depth search prior any future purchase.
Worst experience of my life. I bought a 2017 Veloster, drove it off the lot with 6 miles. Within a year I’ve had my power steering column replaced, the motor for my sunroof and my MOTOR BLEW AT 28K MILES! If you have any work done to your car, expect not to hear anything for 3 weeks and them keeping your car for 2 months! The techs there take everything as a joke, and laugh about how many problems you have with their cars. One of the techs even stated if we told you how bad they are, how would we sell them? I took my car there the month before complaining that it was driving weird, they never even test drove it and stated everything was perfect yet a month later I was left stranded on the road, yet again. Please whatever you do, stay far away from the Tampa Location and Hyundai ALL TOGETHER!!! Worse choice I ever made, I regret buying that car!!!
My 2007 Elantra SE was just totaled this month. This car is one of the best cars we ever had. It still runs like a top but the rear end damage totaled it. This car never needed anything besides regular maintenance. It now has 230,000 + miles on it. It was very comfortable, peppy car and it will be missed! This was a great car and I will buy another one.
My 2013 Tucson had to be towed to the dealer. It took several weeks to get the parts in to fix it but they paid for my rental for the whole time. I had to take it back because it had a noise in it. They went through the complete engine and found nothing wrong. They called in their specialist and were able to solve the problem. They gave me a new Santa Fe to drive and I really liked it. But I love my Tucson and will be keeping it but will be buying a new car in the near future. Their warranty is everything it says it is. Jason kept me informed as the worked a lot of hours to take care of the problem. He is the kind of service manager you want to take care of problems if you have them. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a nice car for a good price and excellent service.
I purchased the car late Sept 2015 and as of Feb 2016 have had issues with the idle, shaking at a complete stop and not getting the mileage advertised. I spoke to the dealership and Hyundai corporate and was told that no resolution is available at this time that when a resolution is available they would contact me. Am I just suppose to keep throwing my money away putting gas in this car and making my payments when its not even running appropriately?
I was on my way to work this morning and a tractor trailer nearly slammed me from behind. Later, I was flagged by a woman, who nearly ran into the back of me, and told that I had no break lights. Now I knew why the tractor trailer nearly ran me over in the morning. I went home and checked everything; bulbs, fuses, connections, and pedal. No brakes. So, I looked online for possible reasons for this and found that Hyundai had a major recall for this thing called the break relay switch. So, I looked for something that would show me where it is, how to change it, and possible other reasons for the problem. Nothing. Next, and finally, I called Hyundai and asked if there has been a problem. I was told that there is nothing that they can do and that I should go to the dealer for a check. The woman on the phone told me there are no recalls on my 2011 Hyundai Accent. I asked her if it turned out to be this switch issue that has resulted in the massive recalls for other model years, would they reimburse me or approve me to repair this and she stated that Hyundai would not. I told the lady that this is my 4th Hyundai and I have had few issues. However, losing both brake lights at the same time for no apparent reason is suspect. I am very displeased that, in spite of the million recalls for a seemingly identical problem, they would not reimburse me or approve repairs to it if it is indeed the problem. It is a shame that a loyal customer of a product and who has spent almost $100K with a company, is not honored for the loyalty given. It will be a shame for Hyundai if, for the price of a $10 part and service charge, they lose a customer. So, Hyundai, if you read this, tomorrow I am going to follow your advise and drive my car to the dealer. If they tell me it is the brake relay switch, I will trade my car in and never purchase another vehicle from your company if you or dealer do not do the right thing for a part that seems to be responsible!
Elantra 2015 - Starting at 3000km uncontrollably bouncing at highway speeds, trying to drive me into the ditch. Dealer in Belleville, Ontario, Canada said never heard of the issue. Google proved him wrong and when I took the printed proof was told it the USA assembled cars with the problem. I persisted and got new balance, then new heavier rears shocks, more balance and new specialized balance and at 12,000km a mechanic finally determined it was a problem with the Continental brand tires on the Hyundai (I was one of thousands who had already complained). Finally got new set of Continentals to replace original. Perhaps the service department cant balance tires but the problem still remains (although a bit milder). No resolution yet!!!
I made a down payment of $2k on what was to be a new 2013 Genesis Premium Coupe. After much research, I found out what others were paying for this vehicle and signed a purchase agreement, for which the salesperson refused to provide me with a copy saying it was against Corporate Policy. The exact vehicle had to be obtained from a W. Virginia dealership, so I didnt see the car until all the paperwork was signed. The window sticker of the W. VA dealership showed the car had 9 miles on it. I figured the vehicle should have about 100 to 125 miles on it. The salesperson stated they would have to search for one, and surprisingly, he had it on his lot the following morning. I couldnt pick it up for four days, so the dealership had time to call and alert me to the high mileage but didnt.I found out about the high mileage when I was signing the odometer statement. I questioned it and was told that the vehicle was not driven from the originating dealership but from another W. VA dealership that traded it with the originating dealership. Even in that event, 455 miles sounded unreasonable. I found several paint chips, nicks, and scratches when I got the car home. I requested to speak with the General Sales Manager about the high mile, condition of the paint job, and an allowance of $300.00. Despite repeated attempts, he refused to talk with me. The dealership didnt want to have anything to do with this matter, but the salesperson did pay someone $32.50 to fix two of the paint chips and he paid for a rental. The dealership would have had to pay for a rental anyway, since I had to bring the vehicle back to have the Paint and Fabric Protection applied and 24 hours were needed for it to dry.I paid the same amount for a vehicle with 455 miles that other people were paying for the same car with 2 or ten or sixty miles. I looked into the matter further and found that the car was driven from the originating dealership in W. VA to a dealership in Pennsylvania, back to a dealership in W. VA. and finally to Hyundai of Greensbug. The salesperson left that out. In addition, the mileage driven from the various dealerships fell short of 455 miles which meant someone was driving the vehicle for personal use. I have no way of knowing how the car was driven during the all important Break-In-Period. Furthermore, when I first liquid-waxed the car, I noticed another paint chip on the edge of the hood closest to the windshield. I dont know how damage was done so close to the windshield without damaging the windshield. The chip was down to the metal but covered with the paint protection dried solution.At this point, I had only driven the car, which is garage-kept, about 100 miles. So the damage did not occur while I had it. I called the salesman and he told me I could bring the car in to have the paint chip repaired at my own expense. There is no way anyone within their right mind would pay what I paid knowing in advance that the vehicle had 455 miles on it. No wonder it did not sell at the three previous dealerships. The car had to be sold sight-unseen. I take care of my vehicles which the attached photo of my 20-year-old Honda Accord supports.
I wish there is a way for me to give zero stars for the unpleasant experience I am having with Hyundai. Within 9 months approximately from the purchase ofmy Hyundai Accent 2016, the car started issuing notifications on my dashboard, with some warning signals as the disconnection of the odometer causes the display to be stuck at zero mph while I am driving, the disconnection between the gas tank, the fuel signal reads wrong, which misleads me regarding the actual amount of gas car contains, etc.In the beginning phase of these issues like 2-3 times, I visited to Hyundai dealership where the technicians did their best to assess & understand the root cause of the problem and in order to fix it. Every time the technicians serviced the car and per their knowledge, they fixed the issue permanently and in few months the issue returned, and I had to re-visit the dealership. Past 3 years with this brand-new car purchase with the hope of living hassle-free life with my car turned into an exhausting nightmare. As of today, I visited dealership 10+ times specifically to fix this issue, the dealership technicians who themselves promised and were sure that the issue was fixed, were puzzled upon my return carrying the same issue.After being assessed multiple times on presenting the problem, the technicians concluded that my car has a manufacturing issue and there is not a permanent resolution for said. I would be happy if this conclusion was given in the beginning phase when I raised a ticket for this issue, it could have saved me 3 years of mental torture with this car that I am trying to fix. When I went for purchase Hyundai welcomed me like family and now when I am suffering from the malfunctioned car they sold, Hyundai takes no responsibility!!IF ANYBODY IS READING THIS REVIEW, PLEASE CHANGE YOUR MIND AND DO NOT BUY ANY HYUNDAI CAR. Even I can save one person making the same mistake I did, it will be a success.
Purchased new 2009 Hyundai Azera Limited. Tired of being misrouted by the factory navigation system, I tried to order new map software from MapnSoft following the instructions in the Owners Manual. MapnSoft wrote back that the radio you have is manufactured by LG and the contract between Hyundai and LG ended 2 years ago... we do not have any update to offer and we do not foresee being able to provide an update in the near future. I called Hyundai Customer Service and was told they couldnt do anything and to see a Hyundai dealer because I bought the car from a dealer. (What in the world is wrong with that logic?) Ive seen similar complaints on the Azera forum from 2009 and 2010 Azera owners and I think its wrong for Hyundai to prematurely end the contract they had to keep their navigation systems up to date.
My brand new 2011 Hyundai Sonata 2.4L GLS engine blew up at 18,000 miles on I-10, 670 miles from our home. We had the car fully serviced prior to our trip, 10 days to be exact. This was the second long, distant road trip with this new car. We almost lost our lives. What saved us was an exit we were approaching at the time and experience driving. It sounded like parts were flying in every direction.This story would not have gotten out, if we were dead. But, we are alive, well, and ready to tell the world our story. Upset and confused at that moment the car stopped, we just could not believe that a brand-new car would blow an engine. We called the Hyundai consumer care department for help. We were interrogated before they asked me, Where is your exact location? My cell phone battery could have died before they got our location. You would think that in this day where computers rule the day, all the information would flash before them after we gave them the ID of the vehicle and name of the people calling would be sufficient to start the ball rolling. No! She asked for my ID then my driver license, then the ID of the vehicle, then the registration. I had to stop her and asked, Would you like to know where we are? While you locate someone close by to pick us up, you could get all the information you want as we wait. She said yes. We had someone there who stopped to help that was on their way to work and were waiting to give the exact location where the car stopped. Once that ended, it took about an hour for the tow truck to arrive. The tow truck towed the vehicle to the nearest Hyundai dealership close by, 15 miles away. The dealer service manager looked at the car and determined the engine must be replaced. He called to order a new engine.The engine for 2011 Sonata 2.4L GLS was second or third in line on the back-order list. Not knowing how long it would take to fix, instead of giving us a loaner or a new car to continue on our way, the dealership sent us to rent a car. That was it. We were back on the road, hoping the Hyundai Motor Corp. had our backs. You know, Hyundai Assurance Policy and all that went wrong will be right again. They spent more money penny pinching than it was worth. Good business sense is to always satisfy your customers. I was so very wrong about Hyundai Motors Inc.After the dealership got us back on the road, we were forgotten. No one from Hyundai Motors called to see if we were okay and to investigate about one of their new car engine failing like that. We had to initiate the call again. At our first call, we were given a claims number that we use to reference on our second and third call. No one at the consumer care department could make the connection to us with that assigned claims number. We had to explain our dilemma five times to five different people at the customer care office before I demanded to speak to a supervisor. Every one I call lied to me, promising me that they would personally investigate the matter and get back to me the same day or the next. They did not. At this point, I could see that I was in for a rough ride. This went on for 42 days after the engine blew up. It suddenly occurred to me - wait a minute, did they say I was third in line for that same type engine? Then others must be having the same problem! I started my own investigation, and I was not only sad but worried that I was not going to get any help from Hyundai Motors. All the complaints and reports I found on the internet made me angry that all this information was not in the media sooner to alert people like me and my wife before they took a bite of that rotten, pretty, shiny apple. I contacted the Better Business Bureau to force Hyundai to take the car back, because we were afraid to take it on the road again. We succeeded. But we lost, because we had to go buy another vehicle. We traded a perfectly good car that was paid in full for the 2011 Hyundai Sonata. I was disappointed. I did not find a recall on that engine type. My opinion, of an old mechanic, this engine is a time bomb.
I drove many cars in my life, I never, never experienced what I am experiencing with a piece of junk like the 2017 Tucson. Hesitation, jerking, loss of power. Miraculously few times I avoided to get into a very big accident also very uncomfortable. Driver seat, complain to Consumer Affairs get nowhere! A bunch of liars! They tell you to go to the dealers and the dealers tells you to call Hyundai... I really hope this company, take their ** back to SK.
If you are reading this - Please do not finance with this company. About 3 years ago, a mistake on their end (on their website) returned my payment. The excuse they gave me was we only had the last four digits of your account number and therefore could not process your payment. Well, the entire account number was there, but the digits in front were shown as Xs, so my account number looked like this - XXXXXXXXXXX-0000. When I explained to them this was the issue, they reversed the late fee. You would think after this that the company would fix the issue.Well, this happened again recently in the beginning of April (2014). I was given the same excuse. They reversed the fee. I then made another payment (for two months). I made sure the account number, routing number, and checking number were absolutely correct (even have an email confirmation with all the information on it). This payment didnt go through again, and this time they will not reverse the fee. I repeatedly asked them for the reason why the payment did not go through. First I was told insufficient funds. Then I was told only last four digits were available. Then I was told the account number was wrong. When I repeatedly asked them for what account number they were given for the returned payments, they said they didnt have it on file. So how do you know it was wrong if you cant even check it in the first place? After several emails and phone calls, and a phone call with a supervisor named John, they absolutely refused to waive the returned payment fee.After the first payment was returned in early April, Hyundai Motor Finance should have immediately told me if something went wrong with the second payment (instead of waiting to hit me with a late fee/returned payment fee). Nothing showed on their website until AFTER they hit me with yet another fee. This is a real shame since Im happy with Hyundai Motors of America and my local dealership. However, if the dealerships are urging people to finance with this company, they too should be held accountable for poor customer service. They are refusing to do anything further. This issue is not resolved.To everyone reading this, avoid financing with this company. They truly do not care about their customers.
Bought a brand new car 2014 Forte. Humble Hyundai will not fix or replace it. What is the use of having a new car when you cant drive it due to a knot on the back tire? I travel every other weekend to take care of a family member. I cant do that with this tire. They do not want to even help, they say we got to pay for it out of our pocket. I think that is wrong, I gave them a nice Kia with nothing wrong, they gave me a tire with a knot on it. If your car is new with warranty, dont you think they would replace but no.So whoever reads this please do not go to Hyundai dealer in Humble TX that is in Houston off of 1960. I went to a different one, they got bought out so the car I was going to buy Humble Hyundai bought them so theyre not going to be even better. Kia in Baytown was lot better when I bought our Kia Soul. We just outgrow it. I need to get a tire so I can go help a grandma. Im like a caretaker. When the kids need a break with them not helping, its hard to get someone else. We only have these Kia Forte, his truck is down right so we got 2014 car that cant drive due to a Nexen tire. Thanks.
2011 Hyundai Sonata - I want to like this car; it has amazing power and gas mileage for its size and power. Sometimes I can get as low as 5.3l100 km on the highway. But here’s a breakdown of problems I have had: 1) The gauge cluster was replaced. 2) The odometer is no longer accurate. 3) The air bag computer was replaced. 4) The tie rods were replaced. 5) The sway links were replaced.6) The remote start is flaky. 7) Some points of the taillights were rubbing paint off the rear fenders (on the side). 8) The trunk kept chipping its edges because it kept touching the body and bumper when shutting. 9) The emergency brake kept seizing up in spite being used every day. 10) The engine seems to rattle more than it has when new. Yes, I know gdi engines are noisy but this one has a deceleration rattle that sounds like a timing chain or valve rattle. The last mechanic said it was normal. I had the same year and model used for a day and no engine rattle whatsoever.11) The interior has many creaks and rattles and the front end sounds down right awful of bumps from 0-50 kmh; clunk, clunk, thunk, etc. but they say all parts in front end are tight. The car is just under 80,000 kms. Most these sounds have been there since it was new. This car sounds like a 10-year old car with the front end clunks, interior noises at times and engine noises.I spoke very patiently and calmly with HMC Canada but was given no reassurance. They said, “So sorry sir, your complaints have been documented.” I ask, “Are you going to consider giving me an extended or a good deal on a warranty for this trouble pit to calm my fears about keeping her past warranty?” The response was, “We dont do that sir.” I guess I should not have been surprised.Hyundai has come a long, long way in terms of refinement etc. Ive had 4 that have been pretty darn reliable. Our 99 Accent went almost 300,000. It did not burn a drop of oil; just a lot of small parts replaced but the engine was bulletproof. But as they have gotten more complicated, the longevity seems to have dipped downwards. Ill consider something else next time because just like my washer experience, they have no interest in keeping a long time customer.
I got a brand new 2013 Hyundai Accent from a dealership in Burlington, Ontario, in late December of 2013 (almost January of 2014). The car started falling apart in September 2016. Not worth the money, folks!
This is my second Accent and on the first one the paint job on the roof of the car started to oxidize. When I bought this one I asked them if it was going to be a problem again. They assured me they had fixed the problem. Why did I believe what they said. My car is almost 4 years old and I noticed that the paint on the trunk is already starting to oxidize. I like to keep my cars for a lot of years and the last thing I want is a car with a bad paint job. I would not recommend this car if you are the person who wants a car that looks its age not like a car from a junk heap.
I took my 2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid to the dealership for warranty repairs. The dealership kept my vehicle for two months before doing any repair. They completed the defective steering and denied the defective motor that went out at approx 58,000 miles. They did not respond to my request for a repair estimate or loaner vehicle. They did not call me to update me at ALL! I then received a certified letter stating if my vehicle was not removed from their lot within 30 days they would sell my vehicle at auction. My vehicle is not safe to drive. The defects were reported as soon as discovered while under warranty. I am obtaining legal counsel and would advise anyone who has to deal with Hyundai to do the same. They are unethical and their threat against me is unlawful. This has been probably one of the worst experiences in my life including my battle with cancer!!!HORRIBLE company from service department - dealership - to Hyundai corporate. They know their motors are no good yet deny warranty across the board. They recalled approximately a half million Sonatas for the same problem mine has. The motor seized and they are blaming the owners for lack of maintenance. I had regular oil changes every 3000 to 5000 miles. DO NOT LET THEM GET AWAY WITH IT - GET AN ATTORNEY.
I was a Hyundai customer for almost 15 years. I really liked my 2015 Genesis and was looking to get another Hyundai potentially upon turning in my lease. The dealership I leased from called me constantly to bring my car in early and told me I could get a better lease. I went into the dealership and they had nothing to offer me for a better lease that was close to the car I had and in fact they were quoting me a $150/month more for a lesser vehicle! Even after I left the dealership without a deal the same dealership kept calling me to come in as if they didnt know that I had gone there already. Terrible service! On top of all that, I tried returning my lease after finding a better deal and service at a Mazda dealership. All the local dealerships refused to take my car in at first! Finally, after a variety of different calls I was able to get the closest dealer to take my car in. Such a ridiculous process that I would probably not lease another Hyundai again.
Anyone who has a 2012 Hyundai Elantra please have your coil springs checked. I could have been killed today has I been on the autoroute instead on the service road. The coil spring on the front driver side snapped, blew out my tire and Hyundai only has a recall on the 2011 Elantra. It is not normal for a vehicle with 59,000 km have this issue unless there was a factory defect. I cant stress enough the importance to have the coils checked and if there is an issue make a complaint to Hyundai Canada, Transport Canada and whichever consumer protection agency in your area. Im going to fight this one with Hyundai and post to every social media site possible. This is a very dangerous issue.
I bought my Accent on 2006: very economy in fuel, keep a regular maintenance and zero problems until now, look same than on 2006. The guarantees was for 10 year. Now they offer change car or new guarantee for 5 years.
The headliner was damaged during a replacement of the sunglass holder recall. It has never been correct since. At approx. 54k, the engine failed and Hyundai replaced with an inferior short block vs. a long block engine, the rear seal was defective and had to be replaced, the engine protector plate fell off less than two weeks later. I have never felt safe in this car and sure enough 3 days ago, after going over NO huge bumps or hitting any pot holes, I came outside and the first 1.5 inches of the wheel bearing assembly was laying on the ground by the wheel. The tow truck driver said they overtorqued something when they replaced the engine. Not only will I never purchase another Hyundai, but I will recommend no one does either. After owning a Honda Civic for 14 years and 375k, this vehicle is a driving time bomb waiting to kill you!!
Avoid this dealer and Hyundai as a brand as much as possible, here is why. I bought a brand new Hyundai Sonata 2015 on February 28, 2015 from World Car Hyundai North, San Antonio, TX. On March 31, 2015 the car broke in the middle of the road, engine has overheated. So I called the towing company and transport the car to the dealer for diagnose. The following day I called them to ask about the car and they told me we need to replace the entire engine in order to fix it. Dealer will fix it under warranty but that is not acceptable for me, for a car that was on the road literally 1 month and has only 1000 miles. This option may make the car driveable but still impairs the value of the vehicle. I opened a case with Hyundai and BBB Auto Line, but Hyundai said no for replacement of the car or repurchase, they want to replace the engine. I refuse to have a used car, how dealer put it, with a replaced engine that most likely will be remanufactured new engine, even if they sustain is going to be new out of the factory. I know they can say whatever to me just to get me out of their back. If I want that I will buy a used cheap car, buy a new engine and I will have a used car with a new engine way cheaper, without a high monthly payment for the next 7 years. Car value right now dropped about 30%, with a replaced engine it will drop even more around 50% or lower, depends on mileage down the road. So I am paying for a new car with a major repair and who knows what are problems this car has. This car is a lemon but dealer or manufacturer trying to get away with it and make the customer supporting all this. I am making monthly payments for a car that is not operational, and dealer told me the problem is out of their hands. What they are doing now, they are trying to trade the broke car for the current market value, and make me buy another one. They dont want to refund me or give me another functional new car out of the parking lot. On April 6 I went back to the dealer to ask for a phone number to call Hyundai regional office, they told they dont have it. In the same day I asked them for a copy of the service worksheet to see exactly what they did to diagnose the car, they refused to do so. I had to go around them to someone else to ask for a copy of that paper, really? So much for customer care, they just dont care. Pretty much they took the money and now they are washing their hands trying to fix a lemon car. I had to get the phone number for regional office from the internet myself and get in touch with them. On April 9 Hyundai regional office called me with some options and I was willing to consider two of them, but I had to talk with the dealer for one of them. So I went to the dealer and find out that they fixed my car without my approval or signature, they also broke the car hood, they bent it and bent and scratch a portion of the car body. They also already ordered the hood and everything else to fix the car, again without me approving anything or them calling me and let me know what is happening with my car. Dealership manager said verbally they will keep the car there and they will work with Hyundai to give me a new one, hard to believe. After two weeks we are more in whole with my brand new car and no good resolution for me the client. So far the repairs of the car cost a bit over 9000$ - listed as part, not as engine. Who knows how much will be with a new hood, body repair and paint. They also refuse to give me any copies of the service records, they told me I will have them when I will sign to take the car. They are doing crappy things there and Hyundai doesnt care. Now my only resort is to go to court which I will. Buying a Hyundai was the worse decision I have made. Hyundai is the worse car I have ever own.
In October 2013, I purchased a 2013 Hyundai Elantra. Unfortunately, I trusted my local dealer because Ive had a good relationship with them for four years. Thats no longer a true statement. While shopping, and let me say it was a 6-hour ordeal trying to purchase the car on day 1, I mentioned numerous times that I drive 200 miles round trip to work. I finally picked a car and had to wait hours to get into the finance office to firm it up. While waiting, I noticed that the sticker on the window said the car comes with an emergency tire puncture repair kit in lieu of spare. I stopped the deal and told the salesman I must have a spare tire and jack. Period. He assured me that theyd get me one, but told me it really wasnt necessary because the car comes with 5 years of roadside assistance. I asked him if we shouldnt amend the paper they had asked me to sign saying they didnt owe me anything. He assured me it wasnt necessary. When it was my turn in the finance office, I mentioned to that man that we had just discussed the fact that I must have a spare tire and he assured me that the salesman would take care of me. I signed up, trusting when I shouldnt have trusted. Let me state here that I told the salesman over and over again that I did not want this car unless there was a spare. Well, turns out they did not have the certificate of origination, so I had to wait several days. Because I changed my mind about using my old car as a trade in, I went back and re-did all the paperwork. Then they delivered the car to me - not with a full tank of gas, as promised by the salesman and the Hyundai car sticker. I asked where was the spare and the salesman had the gall to say, What spare? When I reminded him of our numerous conversations, he stated, I didnt tell you that. I didnt promise you a spare. That ensued in an argument, and it didnt end well. In fact, I was instantly sorry I had bought the car. My mistake. I should have immediately refused delivery and demanded to see the manager. We told the salesman to order me a tire, and he said it would cost over $300. Well, why didnt they offer to add one on for $300 when I was paying for the car? Again, he said to me, If you get a flat, just sit in the car, lock the doors, and call the 800 number for Roadside Assistance. More lies.I spoke with the manager the next day and he said they would split the cost with me 50/50. I told him I was furious about the lies I had been told, but 50/50 was the best he could do. Since I was willing to pay $300 the day prior, I told them fine. 50/50 was cheaper than I could buy it myself. Wrong again. When I got home, I started reading the owners manual and on page 10, in fine print, it said that roadside assistance is good for 5 years for everything EXCEPT flat tires when the person was provided with an emergency puncture kit.I had just cancelled my personal roadside assistance plan! How in the heck does Hyundai think a puncture kit is going to help if I have a flat 100 miles from home, or late at night when no garage is open? This is a safety hazard. Even worse, they are using unfair consumer trade practices. The big signs on the dealership wall saying 5 YEAR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE sure dont have an asterisk and fine print below telling you what it doesnt cover. The salesman never once said they could not offer me a spare and jack as an option. In fact, he blatantly lied and said roadside assistance would cover me if I had a flat.Now let me tell you something Hyundai should understand. I would prefer to have NO ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE and a spare tire than this pack of lies! They obviously didnt do any focus groups before they implemented this stupid marketing measure. They have lost me as a customer forever, and I believe a class action lawsuit is in order. As for the local dealer, they have lost my business. They sell Hyundais exclusively, so they better start praying for their business. They are going to learn that being disingenuous to customers in a small town will put them out of business more quickly than anything else. As for me, Hyundai sucks as a company. Id give anything to go back in time just a few days. Id rather give my purchasing dollars to a company with ethics.
My Sonata was manufactured on May 7 of 2007 and it was old to me as a 2008. I thought anything manufactured before July first could not be sold as a 2008.
I would like to tell you about the service I received Hyundai in Downingtown, PA. I recently took my 2013 Hyundai Tucson for an oil change and state inspection which I was impress of how quickly it was taken care of. They provided great service and I was happy to return for more service. Due to a poor wheel alignment the service department had recommended that I replace my rear driver tire so that my car can pass inspection. When I left the dealership I heard a loud noise from the back tires. At first I thought it was from a wheel alignment that they recommended I needed. During the week, I notice the noise getting much louder to the point where I felt it was unsafe to drive. I went online to see if there was an appointment available but there wasnt so I decided to go to my local Firestone to get a second opinion. I described the noise and how a wheel alignment was recommended. During their inspection, they discovered that my new tire that was replaced by Hyundai was extremely loose and only hand tighten. I am so disappointed because I really thought I received great service especially being the end of the day but instead my life was at risk. I seen it for myself how the lugs were only hand tighten and the wheel shook by touch. This is my second Hyundai vehicle and second Hyundai dealership that Ive dealt with and I was never disappointed until now. I was able to speak to the service manager which he kindly took the time to see the vehicle. In return of risking my life he offered a complimentary oil change and to speak with the mechanic who worked on my vehicle because apparently thats what my life is worth. I will never trust the service of Hyundai again. I can only hope they will learn from this situation so that other customers will not be at risk.
In 2006, I bought a used 2004 Hyundai accent automatic from Thrifty Car rental. I had the car checked through by Hyundai and they confirmed it was in perfect shape. About 6 months ago, shifting became very hard and sometimes the transmission would refuse to shift gear even if I had shifted it with the clutch. Problems got worse. I took it to Hyundai for a diagnostic test and was told it needed a new transmission which would cost $3,000.00. As the car is so old, I opted for a used transmission and took it to a shop where my husband had his transmission replaced. By now, it is 3 transmissions later, 1 computer later and the car has been in the 2nd shop for 2 weeks with a highly recommended transmission expert and it is not working. I sent 2 emails to Hyundai last week and never received an answer. I called today, on 9/23/2011, and after some back and forth, I was told that there is no recall and that they could not help me with the car. In the meantime, I checked online and found a lot of people complaining about transmission issues with exactly that 2004 car. Pages and pages, so there obviously is an issue. My son, who is learning to be a car mechanic and therefore has access to information we normal people do not, also found information on major issues with that years transmission. Yet Hyundai insists, there is no campaign on it, so there is nothing wrong on their end. I have been driving Hyundai since 1996 and loved that car, that is why I bought another one in 2004 but that car is proving to be quite a problem. Hyundai is certainly shattering my opinion of them.
I purchased the 2013 Elantra in March 2014. The clutch seemed difficult to me but I hoped it would be okay, thinking it was probably just my imagination. Yesterday early AM the clutch went out completely. I gave up AAA for the Hyundai roadside and waited 4 miserable hours for them to tow me to the dealer...only to learn the clutch is not covered under their great Warranty. I was like a wild woman at that point...they did give me a loaner car but my problem is still pending with the Hyundai regional Office... I used the problems everyone else here is having as ammunition because if they dont cover the clutch...I am not taking the vehicle back...period...
The airbag light was on in my 2009 Hyundai Tucson. When I took it to the dealership for diagnosis, it was found that a wire in a small assembly behind the passenger seat, that is attached to the seat belt, was broken. The dealer said they could not fix the wire because its a liability since it has to do with the SRS airbag system. There is no replacement part, so the whole assembly where the wire goes under the car, needs to be replaced and it costs thousands of dollars. The dealer contacted Hyundai and advised them that I want Hyundai to pay for this expense because it is not under warranty (60,000) and my car has 67,572 miles only. However, they responded back that Hyundai will not pay. This is a safety issue and I do not have the money to repair what I know is a defective part. I am extremely upset that they would not consider this an exception to the warranty rules, because it was never tampered with, only checked by the mechanic at the dealership and that is the only place I get it serviced. This is not normal wear and tear or a moving part and should last the life of the vehicle. And this is a serious issue.
Not only did our Sales guy sell us a car without the one feature we requested (auto-start), but it is now in service for the 3rd time due to what feels like engine failure when accelerating. Last 2 times Hyundai of Paramus service department stated that since they could not duplicate the issue, that they considered the issue resolved. This time, they did a tear down and are telling me it is the automatic clutch. They said that we beat on the car and thats why. I am 40 years old, live in NJ (the land where traffic happens everywhere, every day) and most of the time my 2 small kids are with me. We thought this would be an economical choice, but it looks like we got a lemon. The service dept. District Manager Sean ** denied our claim for this repair to be covered under their amazing warranty, and told my husband to try and dispute the claim with Hyundai corporate. So, we called corporate, and they said that our only option is to contact the better business bureau. Dont do it to yourself. You dont need the aggravation. Take it from me... 5 days later and $400.00 poorer. Hyundai claim number**.
On 6 occasions now, my Genny with less than 60,000 km on it has just died when driving. The first times, it re-started after a few minutes. The last 2 times, the tach at zero, but engine still running but car wont move. It has been with Hyundai service twice now. First time $400+ to replace sensor; 2nd time cannot find any faults and gave it back to me without doing anything. I am going to end up dead! First and last time I buy a Hyundai. BTW, my car is beautiful looking! Just runs like **.
For 5 years, I had my payment automatically deducted by Hyundai Finance for my car. In December, my balance was $59 and they deducted the whole $279. I called and they stopped the auto deduction and they would send my refund within 30 days, which it took all 30 days. At the end of January, I noticed they took out another $279 so I called. They said the auto payment was turned off and they were not sure why it was deducted. They said they would refund it but it would take another 30 days and assured me the auto pay was deactivated. Lo and behold another $279 was deducted from my account today and when I called, bottom line is it will take another 30 days to get my money and nothing they can do to refund sooner.

Yesterday, I sold out this car, and today, I have book for an i20 Asta but the staff of Arvind Hyundai Showroom in Bilaspur are ignoring my request for exchange bonus. I know very well that this is a policy of your company. I had already taken this benefit at the time of purchase of my i10 model. I bought the car in November of 2010, and its been a bad experience since having thought of buying the new car from Hyundai. My car has been taken four times for A/C problems to Hyundai, but still the same problem persists. Secondly, the car is has started to get rusty within nine months time, and there was no one from Hyundai to talk to with authority.
The Hyundai extended warranty is a joke, I purchased one in 2007 with my new Tucson. However, absolutely nothing that has gone wrong on my car was covered. The A/C blower is intermittent. Its connector was not covered because its in the passenger compartment, only $600. The air bag light comes on, turns out the seat belt assembly isnt covered either, another $500. The warranty apparently only covers items that you cant see or touch and items that they cant find a way for you to see or touch. To top it off, there is nothing that tells you exactly what parts are covered. That information is only available at the dealer.
Well I have written many reviews and yet I truly do not think anything has or will change. I could sum up Hyundai quickly or at least the warehouse that ships out their parts for service, Incompetent. I hate using a word like that. See, some people just loosely use this word on companies just to rant but Hyundai is truly not a well oiled machine like the cars that they sell. At least the company doesnt worry about the management, or any sales reps that are selling the vehicles. That company runs entirely on the market pushing for an affordable and reliable vehicles. When it comes back to the human aspect of the company like CUSTOMER SERVICE, out the door it goes. I have had an awful experience with their service and being shipped out wrong parts for the last 8 weeks now. I have yet to see my car and all Hyundai is doing is taking more time to complete a task. The loaner vehicles that they have issued me (now 2) is not what Im paying for nor do I want it. This service dept has had my car in the shop for 8 WEEKS to just replace a motor in a sunroof. Thats it... But now the Gm will not take my calls due to he is ALWAYS too busy and the Sales Manger is so brash and rude to me I feel like he thinks he owns the place the way he talks to me. Just an FYI, If customers dont come and buy the vehicles on the lot, then you dont have a job. I think in the game that you play, you should be more grateful to the customers that provide for you. I would give this company and experience a 0 but it is not an option. I have written so many of these complaints that this one is just a brief summary of the incompetents of this company and truly I cannot waste anymore time on a concrete wall that will not budge. Sorry Hyundai you have taken this route because you use to be on top of your game. I know that I am only one person you have decided to pushed away but we add up quickly and your company depends on us, the consumer. I hope that this message reaches out to the top of wherever it needs to go to and some sort of something happens as oppose to you guys treating me with disrespect. I am only frustrated because you have yet to reach out to me and consult and make better. As a company that deals with a lot of customers I would feel that would be your top priority, not to just sell cars and then leave the customer high and dry. Thanks Hyundai for the experience, you have truly made me very upset and shown me again that dealership as yours just will never get it. Its not about you guys, its always about us... THE CUSTOMER.
Good ride, 2.0T is quick and economical. This one comes fully equipped. GPS is lousy. Seat belts are hard to buckle. Seems to be quality build. Like it but would like my AWD back. Nice vehicle. Looks good. Feels good. Needs a GPS upgrade.
My 2006 Hyundai Elantra gave out suddenly with no warning light/sign on my way from Atlanta, GA to Nashville, TN. The radiator had bursted, blowing out all the stored coolant, and caused some engine damage. The car have been lightly driven with only 34K mileage and engine was clearly under Hyundais 10-yr warranty. We had it towed 100 mileages to the nearest dealership. However, Hyundai corporate has flat out denied our engine warranty claim because the radiator was out of warranty and that we had done our maintenance at a local NTB instead of their dealership. In other words, their 10-yr warranty is just a big fat lie because their claimed defect component contains nothing but the engine itself, which almost never gives out at its own. It is unbelievable an engine could give out at such early mileage. They also broke a federal rule and denied my claim just because I had my service done at another service shop. The entire process was full of bad customer service. My family and I were constantly hang up on that we have to rotate the calling. Representatives were rude and apathetic toward our situation. This is honestly the worst company we had to deal with out of my life!
I encountered a snow storm on last week while driving my 2012 Hyundai Tucson. My after a couple of hours of driving, the Tucson’s power dropped and I was unable to drive the car beyond 45km, I was only able to get it into 3rd gear to get me home (which is a feature that the vehicle has). I thought it was a transmission problem. However, while getting repaired at my dealership (Meyers Hyundai) the service manager told me that the issue was: The Tucson’s AirBox was clogged with Snow and it affected the power transfer to the engine. My bill was the following (new Air filter, Plugs, and an Injection service) totaling at $583.00, by simply driving the vehicle in the snow. I have owned many cars before in the past and never had the vehicle fail due to snow. Even the Server Manager at my dealership could not believe the vehicle responded this way in the snow. WAS THIS VEHICLE TRULY BUILT FOR CANADIAN WINTER WEATHER!!! I contacted their customer relations team who responded: If the Hyundai dealership determines that the issue is not as a result of a manufacturing defect, we regret to inform you that the repair will not find coverage under your vehicles warranty coverage. Unfortunately, we regret to inform you that we cannot assist you with these repairs.
I have had my car serviced regularly. I decided to get the oil changed at 5000 miles but went over. However, before that can happen the car starting running rough. Check the oil dipstick, there was no oil in the car. No leaks! Howd this happen?
We were prepared to pay cash for the car on 12/31/11, but we were told that we would get $500 more off the car if we financed and then we could pay it off. So before we received the coupon book, we sent in an estimated amount for the purchase price plus estimated interest. The next month we received a bill for $11.23 for the difference of additional finance charges which we paid. For the past week, the autodial collection people have called us at least 15 times (over 5 times on 3/26), looking for the monthly payment of $839. Finally, my husband was on hold for over 20 minutes waiting to speak to a supervisor who said our account was paid in full. We have continued to get calls since then for the same thing. On 3/37, we got 2 more calls. I am not that happy with the car to begin with. The gas mileage is way under what was represented. After the experience with the finance people, I will never buy another Hyundai. Also, the phone representatives were rude and the auto-dialer put us on hold several times after we answered the phone. What kind of customer service is that?
Update from last post. Nothing new on positive side other than more wasted time and lets say more salt water in the open wound. They call me back like they were concerned to follow up on the outcome. Follow up, I scratch my head as they said they wont cover what they have known was an ongoing issue even a class action law suit over the very same paint issue. Sorry you are outside the warranty period. I asked, Why are you wasting my time to only say what you said the last time. They make a car. They have a known issue with the paint adhering to the car. They dont tell you or post about it so you can stay away from buying a car with an issue. So you buy a car only to have to spend over $1200 to have the car roof stripped down and repainted. That people is a company that truly understands customer service. They dont stand behind their product when they know they have had an issue, we as the consumer have to pay for it in the end. ONCE AGAIN AND LET ME BE CLEAR I WILL NEVER EVER PURCHASE A NEW OR USED CAR THAT IS MADE BY HYUNDAI. If I sound upset you are correct.
It is a very reliable car. The seats are very cozy and the air conditioning works very well. But I would change the default radio it has. The radio has no bluetooth or touchscreen, it would be ideal if it had more functions like front and back camera or a GPS system and a android operating system. But other than that, the car has not had any problems and is very economic in gasoline plus it is very responsive and smooth to drive in.
Our 2011 Hyundai Veracruz is at the dealers now. Recalled item was handled previously and failed. However, they say they only fix once - so want us to pay $900+ to have same issue handled. Valve cover gasket allows oil to leak onto alternator, which then fails. Our car is STUCK in Hendersonville because we cant pay for the repair. On our 2011 Hyundai Veracruz: If there was a recall and it had been fixed correctly, the issue should be solved. It is not and the alternator has failed again. There seems to be a manufacturers defect and that is what should be fixed.
Hyundai is an unethical company. I own a 2012 Hyundai Sonata. At 52,000 miles, we need a new transmission! What kind of car needs a new transmission at 52,000 miles?? The mechanic at the dealership even told us that we may have received a faulty transmission because they shouldnt need replacing at 52,000 miles. Our warranty was 2 months out of warranty so the dealership was optimistic that headquarters would still pay for the transmission and service because our car had such low miles and had so recently gone out of warranty. After the Hyundai dealership went back and forth with Hyundai headquarters, they told us they were unwilling to cover the cost of the transmission! The customer service was absolutely horrible. I have never had such a bad experience with a car company in my life. Hyundai should treat people more ethically instead of trying to squeeze me of every drop of money out of consumers they can.
2005 Hyundai xg350 has been back at Hyundai numerous times for air bag lite on problem since car was new. After the warranty expired we decided to just forget about it, enough is enough. And the lite is still on.
Hyundai treated me with total disregard regarding my disposition fee being extended. I had a hip injury and need a hip replacement. Therefore, it would be foolish to get a new car and not be able to drive it. They were not understanding at all and was only interested in the disposition fee being paid to them. I paid the fee and wrote a letter asking if they would reimburse me the $439.05 until September 2019 when I would be able to drive again and purchase a new car from them at that time. They refused me and showed no compassion or consideration to me at all. It was all about the money they wanted.The whole disposition fee is to repair the car of any problems or cosmetic issues. My car was UNDER 13,500 miles which definitely improves the value of the car. I’m the only one that drove it and it was taken perfect care of. I even had an oil change done on it and filled the car up with gas the day I turned it in. The gentleman at Circle Hyundai said he never saw a car returned that still looked brand new. I will NEVER buy another Hyundai and will be sure to tell my family & friends of the total disregard they gave me. I was never treated so badly by a Corporation in my life. That did it for me and Hyundai.
Hi all. I purchased my new Sonata in 2012. I have had 4 radios installed and 1 antenna. I have had the car in the dealer more times than I should have for a new car. I need a new radio again at 89000 kms. The first 4 were covered as the antenna was. Now they say I am not covered anymore as mileage is over the warranty. My dealer had told me it would be covered for the time I own the car as it is an ongoing problem. Well thats not the case according to Hyundai Canada. The radio I am told is $4000.00. I have had 9 lights replaced as they keep blowing after time. Hyundai says this is normal???I now have a recall about the engine but the dealer said they (Hyundai) dont have the parts available yet to fix the car. The car stalls out at any given time even on the highway. This has been very dangerous and I have had close calls trying to get to the side of the road. I just spent one hour and four min. on hold with customer service and still waiting to speak to someone. I will Never purchase another Hyundai ever. If anybody has the same issues I would like to read about them. Thanks.
Have had enormous trouble with the 2018 Tucson SEL Plus that I leased recently. The transmission cant seem to pick a gear, and the car constantly freezes/stalls when between gears, which is pretty much all the time. My concentration has to 100% focus or Im getting in a wreck. The car isnt really drivable. Took the car to a dealership - they told me thats just how the car drives. Took it up to Customer Service via the manufacturer; they declined to assist in any way without so much as having anyone look at the car. Basically, the response Ive gotten from the manufacturer is, Oh well, youre stuck with your lemon. No efforts made to assist; they cant even manage to get me into a dealership for service without a lag time. Leasing this car is one of the worst mistakes Ive ever made, and Ive driven other Tucsons before this. Hyundai does not have any interest whatsoever in standing behind their product, or customer satisfaction in any way; never, ever get a Hyundai, because if anything at all is wrong with it, youre basically on your own. The entire experience has been a nightmare, and continues to be.
I was driving my 2007 Hyundai Entourage on my way to work when suddenly my driver side airbag deployed. I was not able to see for few seconds which caused me to hit a tree on the passenger side. Note: The front passenger side got the major damage, however its airbag didnt deployed on impact against that tree. My driver side has no damage at all. Luckily it was only me driving and none of my children were with me that day. Luckily the accident happened in my subdivision which is only around 15 mph drive. Had this happened in the highway, it could have caused more damage and probably fatality. 2 questions here: Why would my driver side airbag deploy all of a sudden at a low speed, driving straight on a smooth/dry road in a subdivision? And why didnt the passenger side airbag deploy on impact with that tree? Had one of my children been with me sitting in the front passenger seat, he or she could have gotten seriously hurt - the airbag wouldnt have been there to protect them from serious injuries. We love our minivan and never have any major problems with it since we bought it. It only has around 150,000 miles. This is a MAJOR SAFETY concern that the company Hyundai should address.
I do not understand, and I will try to summarize my experience so as to save everyone the grief of reading an extensive unpleasant experience. In short, I have leased with Hyundai since I was 20 years old. I am 24 now, and this car (so am on my second lease now) is one of the biggest regret of my young adult life. For my previous leased vehicle, I was hit with a bill of nearly 5,000 dollar, which a very big chunk of that money did not apply to my actual balance since I continued to lease with them. After the proper deductions, my bill went down to about 3,600. That is fine, except that each time I called to have a number confirmed, I received a different quote. I once called literally sobbing because I had no idea what to do, in which I was “helped” by a woman that talked over me the whole time, was terrible at explaining anything to me, and told me I could “get a second job” to try to pay for my balance. Okay. I paid the money and received a voicemail (not very clear to make out what it said) saying something about my balance. I called back to try to get back to that person, had their extension and everything to confirm that they received my payment, and literally spent 20 mins on the phone with someone, intermittently getting put on hold, only to be told they could not find the extension or the balance I was speaking of. I finally have let it go and assumed that they received my payment. This is the gist of that experience. Today, I called because I am having trouble with the radio playing over the music I am streaming, so I called to get help. The lady on the phone said “we don’t help with that, I can give a number of you have anything to write down” and I said that I was driving, asked if I could get forwarded to the proper place. So she forwarded my call, and a lady answered and I could not hear or understand her at all. Finally, she spoke closer and I could hear her louder but still not well. I explained my problem, she said “yeah we don’t help with that” so I told her I was forwarded and didn’t know what to do. She literally said “thank you have a nice day” and hung up. HUNG UP. I was mid sentence and baffled and honestly, I am starting to figure things out on my own whenever I have a problem with my Hyundai vehicle, because customer service has been so incredibly unhelpful, rude, and appalling to interact with, honestly. It’s so shameful, and I am not sure if this is normal? Do other vehicle companies do this to their customers? I am planning to purchase my current vehicle so I will be with Hyundai for a long time, which sincerely fills me with dread and I am starting to feel resentful. This has been a terrible experience since the start, and I don’t call anymore to spare myself the stress of interacting with these people. I don’t even have the words. Just absolutely terrible.
Three years ago, I purchased a new Hyundai Genesis. Unfortunately, the car veered to the right which make driving difficult and dangerous. When I first brought the car in, the dealer denied a problem. When I returned shortly thereafter, they reluctantly agreed that the car lurched to the right. After a series of trips back and forth to the dealer, the tires were replaced, the alignment was redone, the electronics were revised and the problem persisted. After my 6th or 7th visit, I gave them the car and told them that I would not take it back till the problem was solved. They kept the car for months and were never able to sort it out. Meanwhile, I communicated with corporate Hyundai and they were rude. I finally invoked the lemon law and my money was returned (not the interest that I had been paying Hyundai as they held the loan on the car). Needless to say, whenever I see a Hyundai on the road, I think to myself what a poor sucker is driving that car. I will never buy a Hyundai again.
My father owned a 2013 Hyundai Elantra. Previously the car had shown multiple failures such as the steering unexpectedly locking or brakes making loud obnoxious sounds. A few days ago my sister and mother had gotten into a car accident. The car had went airborne and went head first and hit a curb. The car is currently totaled and my mother had multiple injuries. The airbags had not opened during the process. This is outrageous and we would seriously like to have this problem solved. Luckily no one was in critical condition, but still this should never happen.
We have been happy Hyundai customers for many years. Earlier in the year, we were noticing that our Genesis was sporadically pulling to one side. We took it to our car to Chapman Hyundai in Phoenix, AZ - the dealership we purchased the car and loyally worked with them on all of our service needs. They couldnt recreate the issue, so they returned the car to us. We continue to have incidences of this happen again, so took the car back. They did a wheel alignment. It didnt solve the problem. In June I lost control of the car when coming off the highway. I feared that I would not be able to stop at the bottom of the off-ramp, which would have resulted in a major accident. Fortunately, I was able to regain control and stop the car in time.We tried to make an appointment with the dealership, but there was a 2-week wait, so we took it to a local repair shop because we were afraid to drive the car and couldnt be without it for 2 weeks. They quickly saw that all 4 control arms had major cracks in them. They replaced them. They said that this issue should have been detected by the dealership mechanics since the cracks were quite large. This doesnt happen overnight. They also suggested there may be another issue that should be watched if the pulling should happen again. I contacted Hyundai Consumer Affairs to report this situation on June 2nd. I was told that I would hear back from a case manager within 10 days. I was finally contacted (after repeatedly calling, sitting on hold, waiting, and waiting) on July 14th. The case manager immediately told us that there was nothing she could do as far as reimbursement of the over $3500 of costs we incurred at an independent garage because the car wasnt repaired by a certified Hyundai mechanic. I stressed our lack of faith in the technicians, stressed the risk I was put in, and threatened to go viral with my story. She came back 5 days later saying that the company would reimburse me for the cost of parts only - however, I had to take the car to a dealership for them to make sure the work was done properly. She wanted me to pay for this service while taking MORE time off work - not having a car. She called me back 2 days later to see if I was going to accept the offer even though I told her it wasnt fair that I had to pay for the service call as well as everything else Ive been dealing with. She called me back - as promised - on July 22nd. I was unavailable to take her call. Since then I have left multiple messages/emails with her with no response. The pulling issue still persists to this day. On August 4th we scheduled a service call with a different Hyundai dealership. Again, we have to wait 2 weeks for our appointment. Were left with an unsafe car, no response from the company, and no sight in end to this issue. When my husband had car issues with his Acura, they had to wait 2 weeks to get the necessary part that was draining our battery. They provided us with a loaner so we werent inconvenienced and kept us updated on the status of the part. Thats customer service. Maybe Hyundai needs to look at its competitors and learn how to treat people properly.
I purchased a used 2007 Hyundai Sonata in June of this year. Two weeks after I got it the engine blew. A rod went out the bottom of the engine, through the oil pan, and onto the freeway. This was a known problem and a major recall for the newer models. Since my car wasn’t included in the recall, even though it’s the same exact problem that has caused a major recall, Hyundai won’t do anything about it. So, let me understand this Hyundai... Because of your engineering incompetence and poor customer service I am now responsible for finding $4000 to replace the engine? If it wasn’t a known flaw I’d be happy to say I had some bad luck and that it was just too bad. But this makes me so upset to be treated like I did something wrong by expecting something to be done about their faulty product. I’m not asking for a brand new car, I just want my car fixed and even a used engine would be fine! I’m not asking for too much I don’t think. I have contacted Hyundai and their response was that it’s out of warranty so tough luck. Yeah, thanks Hyundai, never again!!
I purchased a new 2005 Hyundai Elantra GLS in 2005. I also purchased the Hyundai factory extended warranty which covers most of the parts and systems for 10 Years or 100,000 miles, which ever comes first. In the past, I have been very impressed with the customer service and support of Hyundai owners by Hyundai Motor America. However, their new CEO is apparently abandoning the policy of supporting their customers and their good will. Just after the car passed the 100,000 mile mark, the cars thermostat worth around $13 stuck and the radiator was fried. There were no warning lights to alert me to stop driving the car as it was overheating.My Hyundai dealer wanted almost $1,000 to replace the thermostat and radiator. I almost fainted. I called other Hyundai dealers and they told me they heard of this occurring on other Hyundais the same year and model as mine. I called Hyundais customer connection line. After reviewing the case, they refuse to offer any relief. I also noticed that in the customer satisfaction surveys, Hyundai formerly sent their customers after service was done on their car to ensure dealers were doing a good job have ceased. No wonder Hyundai has dropped off the list of Americas 10 Best Selling Cars in 2011 and only has about a 5% share of the US auto market. Taking their valued customers for granted will most likely cost Hyundai dearly in customer loyalty and repeat business.
Purchased a 2011 Elantra with 8 miles and it just recently hit 70K miles. I have had no problems with the car at all. My driving is severe going up and down the California Grapevine on a weekly basis with no problems. Service at all 3 dealerships I have been to have always been great and as soon as the new redesigned Elantra comes out (maybe 2016 or 2017) I will be buying another one.I find it hilarious how many stupid people come on here complaining about their end of lease termination fee. Or even worse telling Hyundai that they deserve that fee be waived or for good customer service it should be waive. You people must really have a 2 digit I.Q. It doesnt matter if the leased car that you returned has only 10K miles on it or that you made every payment on time. You signed a legal contract saying that you will pay that fee! End of story! Stop the whining! If youre going to whine about something in your lease contract whine about it BEFORE you take delivery of your vehicle...if not shut the ** up!
We have had the 2014 Elantra a year which we bought directly from Woodland Hills Hyundai dealer. It wasnt cheap, as with the extended warranty of 100,000 miles it came to $24,000. We were never told the car did not come with a spare tire. We spent the evening of fathers day being towed back to the dealer and missing our plans because we got a flat tire. The response I was given as its like this in all the cars now. I know that isnt true, because we also bought a Toyota and Nissan which have spare tires. For a company that prides itself on safety, not having a spare or informing the purchase that there is no spare, is not ok!!! The car drives fine, but this to me reflects very poor customer service.
My airbag in my 2004 Sonata didnt work. In the accident, I dont understand why the airbag didnt deploy, only the bag from the seat and was not even half-full. The car was totally wrecked, but not from the front at all. Somebody hit me on the front side of the car in the drivers side. I woke up in the hospital with the news that my air bag was not working. Im concerned about this. How we can do something about it?
Purchased a 2014 Hyundai Equus with 71 miles on odometer and Hyundai Motor America said I not entitled to 10 year/100,000 powertrain warranty as a second owner. Car purchased on Aug 1, 2015, and although manual provides for mandatory arbitration through Auto Line at BBB, I have been systematically denied an opportunity to argue my warranty rights. It has now been 11 months and despite countless calls to customer care office and a detailed letter to new CEO of Hyundai, he has not responded at all! Never! The manager at customer care, known only as Steve, said my case warranted an exception and he would send all my paperwork to legal dept. of Hyundai in California. Said in February, 2016 a decision would be prompt. After following up several times due to no response, Steve has settled upon a course of action to not speak to me or share legal departments evaluation. Nobody should buy a Hyundai and probably a Kia for reasons that an honest dispute will not even be considered and Hyundai refuses to authorize the Better Business Bureau to arbitrate a warranty matter it believes it has no jurisdiction over. The BBB representative said “Just ask Hyundai to approve.” and Susanne said she would not. And Dave Duchowski, the CEO refused to intercede or reply to my fully particularized letter dated March 10, 2016. My intention is to publish a series of editorials nationally and to pursue a criminal complaint with Brian Frosh, the Attorney General for Maryland.
@Hyundai Consumer Alert: My new Kona (8K miles) left me stranded 300 miles away from home, but @Hyundai Consumer Affairs doesnt care! Gas light illuminated and car is fully depleted of gas within a few miles. Roadside assistance brings small amount of gas, but car wouldnt go more than 40 mph on the interstate after refueling. Dealer returns car with note that no problem existed. Rental reimbursement claim denied We still dont know what is wrong with our car. Poor customer service. Declined my rental reimbursement claim. No way to appeal a reimbursement decision -- Per our case manager, Robert -- theres no one higher in the company with whom I can speak to about our concern. Design flaw that negatively impacts driver safety.
I have a 2009 Sonata with leather seats and 56,000 miles. It’s still under the so-called bumper-to-bumper warranty. The leather on the drivers seat is cracking and peeling (the same thing happened to my 2007 Elantra). The dealer said it was a wear item and not covered by warranty. I asked them to show me where in the book does it say this, and they pointed to a short sentence that says any wear item is not covered under warranty. They told me Hyundai has a list of not covered items. I called Hyundai to complain and the first thing he said is We have an extensive list of items not covered by our warranty. Wow, it would be nice if they put this in the customers warranty information. He put me on hold, and then came back and said that seats and upholstery are not covered by any warranty, not even for one day for new vehicle. It would also be nice if they told the truth in their advertising. They use the warranty to sell their cars, but they are in fact lying about their warranty coverage.
Due to rude and incompetent people that handle customer service I will never buy a Hyundai again. I like the product but dealing with the people at Hyundai Motor Finance USA is so unpleasant that I would rather buy any other car. The staff doesnt listen to a word you say, they just repeat their demands over and over until you get so frustrated you have to hang up and compose yourself. Ask for a supervisor then you wait on hold for a long period and then just get the same treatment from the supervisors. Whatever happen to customer service? These people are horrible to deal with. If you want a Hyundai DO NOT USE HMFUSA unless you want to deal with condescending, obnoxious, rude and ignorant people!
I took my 2014 Sonata to dealer five times and they smelled the bad fumes coming from my car and each time they cant find anything wrong and they know its bad and they say Hyundai wont fix it for several people have same problems. So Im going to sell car for I cant drive. It makes me too sick and hard to breathe. Im 63 years old and I dont need added health issues from my car.
On Jan. 21, 2014 I purchased a Certified Pre-owned 4 door, 2010 Hyundai Accent GLS from CarMax in Hickory, N.C. I was assured that this was a safe, reliable car, with great gas mileage. I took the car back twice within 3 days because of random noise under the hood but was told it was nothing to worry about. On Jan. 28, 2014 the car was totaled in a snow storm in Marion, N.C. while driving 40-50mph in a 70mph zone when I hit a truck that had already wrecked in my lane of traffic. I tried to slow down but the brakes locked up and I slid into the truck. I hit the truck so hard that it exploded my battery, computer, and radiator on impact and turned off. But NONE of the 6 airbags worked in my new certified pre-owned DEATH TRAP. My head bounced off of the steering wheel and then bounced back to the headrest. I suffered 3 torn ligaments in my neck, whiplash, etc. The foreign P.O.S was supposed to have 2 front, 2 side, and 2 overhead airbags and none worked. I couldve been hurt a lot worse or killed that day having no protection. The seat belt tightened so bad that I had bruising for over a week across my chest and stomach from the seat belt that felt like someone took a ball bat to me. If you have a death-wish, this is the perfect car to buy! CarMax and Hyundai passed the blame of course. CarMax said that it was the manufacturers fault and Hyundai said that it was because I failed to slow down! I asked for a copy of the black box reading results from Hyundais engineering analyzer at Hyundai Motor America in Fountain, Valley, CA and was told that the report was classified information that I could not see! The reading told the real story of why the non-working airbags almost killed me Im sure, but I was not allowed to see. Total BS! I have had to pay over $2500 for a car I drove 7 days. BEWARE! Dont BUY A HYUNDAI!
Bought a new Hyundai Elantra in 2002 and the transmission went out at only 80,000 miles. To fix transmission ranges from $1000 to $2500. That is more than the Blue Book value of the car! Hyundais are JUNK! Get a TOYOTA or a HONDA instead.
I bought my 2011 Sonata SE in April 2010. At about 55K the automatic transmission began shifting harshly. Within about 2 weeks the shifting had become a hard bang and the car was undriveable. The dealer spent three days diagnosing it but were not able to determine the cause. The manufacturer authorized them to replace the transmission. Over the months that followed, usually at highway speeds, the vehicle routinely surged in RPM from 2000 to 5500, but did not surge in speed.Two weeks ago, at 91K, the vehicle began to experience very delayed shifting from 1st/2nd and 2nd/3rd, surging in RPM before each shift so that when the shift occurred the vehicle speed increased excessively creating a jack rabbit start. This week while driving at highway speed the transmission jolted dramatically, the speed dropped, and the RPMs rose. I figured it had gone into limp-home mode. I parked the car, verified that it was in 4th (by placing it in the manual shift position), and called the dealership. I let the vehicle sit for a couple of hours and found that it drove normally. I took it to the dealership where they pulled codes which indicated an incorrect setting for gear ratio at 6th gear. This seemed odd to me since thats all electronically/programmatically determined, and it made me wonder if they had downloaded the most current transmission control module program when they installed the second transmission. They are now installing the third transmission under the 100K Powertrain warranty. I have not yet been notified to pick up the car.I am very concerned for several reasons: (1) The erratic transmission behavior has me afraid to drive the car, especially at highway speeds. (2) I am very concerned that sometime in the next 35K to 55K Im going to have to replace the transmission - and that it may fail due to not being properly programmed or installed. I have not yet heard back from Hyundai Consumer Affairs.

I have had a warranty claim submitted since my car was new (3 years ago). I have had the car in to service this claim 4 times and the last time (today), they made the problem worse, not better. They appear to never intend to repair the problem. This is a smaller issue with the near-criminal salesmanship I experienced when I bought the car. Please suggest on how I can repair my problem when they appear to not honor the warranty. Thanks.
My wife, 64, was driving out one owner Hyundai Accent on a private road about 15MPH when the airbags suddenly deployed without any impact occurring to the vehicle. My wife received severe bruises on both arms and the face and the windshield was shattered by impact from the passenger side airbag deployment. We were fortunate as she was going very slowly and there was no other traffic... Had she been in busy traffic or on an interstate, there would probably have been a major collision and severe injury or possible death. Hyundai local dealership (Perkins Motors of Colorado Springs) was appraised of the problem but refused to do anything. When we contacted Hyundai HQ consumer affairs we were told that they would send us a packet of papers to be filled out and returned to them. They would then let us know in six or eight weeks whether they would do anything. The car is undriveable... And my wife will never drive it again after the scare she received together with the potential for a much more horrible outcome than actually occurred.Hyundai seems to have no interest in seeing the vehicle and figuring out what may have gone wrong and whether it might be a risk factor for other owners as well, despite the obvious implications of consumer risk when airbags inflate without any cause. I volunteered to haul the car to the local dealership at my own expense and inconvenience and they responded that they would not look at it even if I did so unless I agreed to pay for all repairs in advance. One would think that they would care to find out what might have gone wrong. All in all, it has been a horrible experience and the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Note to all Hyundai owners: I would have to recommend that you NOT drive your vehicles as the potential for a major accident is very real and, like other manufacturers in the past, Hyundai seems to feel no sense of urgency in finding out what the core problem is and fixing it.
Since owning my 2013 Hyundai Sonata, I have had a number of recalls (or as the company likes to call them, ‘campaigns’). The most recent includes FOUR recalls. I took time off of work to get the recalls addressed, and yet, I still keep receiving notices that I need to take the car back in for the same recalls that I got taken care of. When you call customer service all you get is the run around or told that you are being “hostile” when they question you about where the emails are coming from and you tell them you have full command of the English language or “talking over them”. I still can’t use my phone’s bluetooth as the company never updated their system with the newer phones. My navigation system doesn’t know half of the addresses I put in, and the car only has 44,000 miles in 6 years. In addition, I constantly have to put air in my right front tire, regardless of the weather. Now I have to go back because the dealer disengaged the heated seats so I can’t even trade it in until they fix their mistake, and that was after the dealer tried telling me that the recalls had nothing to do with the heated seats (which they then had to reverse course on as the tech had to disconnect the heated seat wires to put the airbag harness on). Hyundai claims in their ads that they make ‘better’ cars. Better for who? Because it DEFINITELY isn’t better or safer for the consumer. I feel that is a misrepresentation of the truth. Save yourself and your wallet! Don’t even look bother. There are other more reputable companies from which to choose from. Honestly, I think the federal government needs to look into the safety of Hyundai’s vehicles.
Hyundai has been the worst over the phone customer service. Ive been with this company since 2011 and can tell you the services have declined dramatically. Whomever makes the terms and conditions for this company has failed. Please dont purchase for Hyundai to assist with getting them out of business.
Hyundai has the worst leasing programs in the business. Do not fall for their lease plan. My wife turned her Equis recently. The car was 12,000 miles under so she thought she was fine. She had the Hyundai dealer wash the car when she took it in for an oil change. They used a pressure washer and took some of the pearl white off the plastic bumper. The manager said they have had issues with this paint and not to worry. Hyundai sent a person out to look at her car and write it up. She wrote down the paint issue. She said it needed a new tire. The tire in question was well within the safe range. Note that this vehicle was known to have under equipped tires on them and she kept the same when she replaced them. After 24,000 miles she had purchased two sets of tires. The Equis was their top of the line vehicle and their bottom of the line vehicles had more bells and whistles on them. My wife had asked before purchasing the vehicle about all of the things like bluetooth and was assured it had it but the salesman didnt know how to work it. That was a lie. She went back the day after purchasing the vehicle and was told Too bad, were sorry. Cant do anything about it. I will say it was the best driving vehicle weve had and I did enjoy it. The problem was the Hyundai Lease, they lie, cheat and dig into your back pocket. DO NOT LEASE THROUGH HYUNDAI. Purchase the vehicle outright or find another lease option. My wife showed the Texas Hyundai Lease manager her original correspondence and how Hyundai Lease didnt get back to her the first week she had it. They do not care about you, just the money.We are waiting on a recall for the white paint to get our money back. Tire places including the dealership said the tire in question was within code. The dealership said they would have waived all of the issues Hyundai Lease found. Remember, youre getting the car from a dealership but youre dealing with Hyundai underhand Lease.
I bought a new 2016 Hyundai Veloster in June 2017. This bad smell would come and go. At that point youd smell the damp smell on your clothes and hair the test of the day. Well that week in June there had been lots of rain, car smell came back. Took the car to the dealership on July 24 for oil change. 25th took the car in for them to investigate the smell. Had a water leak at the roof of the car, where the seal didnt bond the glass roof to the frame. Water had gotten into the car and floor was soaked. Him ** ordered a new roof, carpet, Sun visors, and headliner. Called me to come pick up the car. The car still had the smell. I know firsthand I smelt like the car many off times. Had to go in public smelling like sour mildew from this car. I wasnt happy. Manufacturer refused to stand by its product by honoring what was wrong. Ruet treated me like it was my fault something was wrong with the car. The car needed everything material and electric replaced.She even contacted the dealership to see if the car was drivable with the mold and mildew. My health wasnt an issue to them. The Veloster roofs can leak and cause mold and mildew and that horrible smell. Clothes ruined by that smell. Cant get them rid of the smell as they sat in the car as my back up clothes from walking. I still have the paperwork from the car that smells and it was in the glove box.
Bought new Veloster 2012 March 2015 with 9,237 miles clutch when I was told not covered due to the 12,000/12 month warranty. I stated should be covered by Hyundai Assurance 5 year/50,000. They agreed and then later said service was misinformed and never should have agreed to it being covered. Went back to the 12,000/12 month warranty. I argued and a final decision was it was covered by the 5 year/50,000 warranty but OUTSIDE causes is the reason the clutch/flywheel/disc failed. Not Hyundai....I asked what was OUTSIDE cause.......no response from Hyundai. Once you buy the car they determine what their warranty covers and it seems to me that Hyundai always comes up the beneficiary.
I own a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. On September 29, 2021, I had my oil changes. I was a thousand miles early but the oil light had come on. I asked the service station to check why my car was lagging when driving. Ive been going to the same place for years to get my car oiled. Not a Hyundai dealership. He told me that my engine is ruined due to the engine burning oil, the tip of the oil dipstick was burnt. I left to go home and my car died. I had it towed to the closest Hyundai Dealership which is the dealership in Palatine, IL.The next day I went to the dealership and dealt with Kyle ** (Im not completely sure that is his last name). Kyle is at the front desk of the service area. Kyle told me its probably going to take a month and a half & I should rent a car and Hyundai will pay $40 a day. I rented a car from September 30- November 1. On Monday, October 7, 2021 Kyle texted me and said they are looking for Update/recall 953 ECM, & said the recall was not done so my car does not qualify for the warranty. He took less than 30 seconds to tell me my car was trash & he’s just telling me what he’s been told & that I should contact Consumer Affairs!!! It wasn’t a big deal to him!! I take very good care of my car, I have all receipts for the service I have had done on my car from the places Ive had my car worked on. Needless to say I was so upset and not happy with that answer, my car has 68,000 miles on it.I have the phone number of the salesmen I bought the car from in 2014, at McGrath City Hyundai in Chicago, IL. His name is Frank, I called him and he agreed to help me since I received really poor customer service at the Palatine dealership. Kyle was less than professional or helpful. On one of the visits I made to the Palatine dealership he was so disrespectful, as he was walking away and his back was to me he said get your car out of here or Ill charge you for storage. I did let him know I was now going to be working with Frank who was going to work on my behalf through the Gurnee Dealership.Kyle was not going to let me get things out of my car until I paid $165 in diagnostic fees. I was told I didnt owe any money. Kyle did call me back and told me I dont owe anything. I can get belongings out of my car. On October 13th Frank told me he was going to have my car towed the next day, October 15th Frank said I have to call Palatine and pay a $100 fee Palatine would not release the car to Frank at his Gurnee, IL. location. I went and signed a release and was told no charge.On October 19th Frank said they were busy at his dealership and couldnt get my car. On October 20th I texted Frank & He said hed call me in 20 minutes, I never received the call. On October 22nd I sent Frank a text telling him I didnt want to bother him but I need some answers. He replied in the text that he was on the phone with Hyundai, he would text me in 5 minutes. He was almost done, never texted me. On Monday, October 23rd I texted Frank to see what was happening. He replied in a text shortly and never called or texted. On Wednesday, October 27th I sent Frank a text asking him or telling him if he cant help me please just be honest, I am desperate for answers. He emailed me back saying they just emailed him 2 hours ago that they have a conference call at 9 the next day. He said hed have a definite answer by noon, he never called me back.Frank told me about updates being done. When they are received has to be done in a certain time frame. Even if Im not aware of the updates, I didnt get notices on all the updates. Frank then gave me a phone number to get reimbursed for the rental Customer Service Specialist 714-887-2553 I have left several messages and I am not getting a return call. He had e email him the receipts. Here it is November 8th, Im no better off than I was September 29th! Frank is now at The Gurnee dealership. I called the Gurnee dealership to find out Franks last name and the person on the phone said he was new and didnt know his last name. I do have cell phone numbers for both gentlemen. I started working with Frank on October 7th. I really thought Frank was going to help me with my car and I appreciated him saying he was going to help me but he really just wasted time and I do wish he wouldve been honest with me and told me he cant help me. I had sent Frank my drivers license, bill of sales & known updates done at a Highland Park, IL. dealership. I have copies of text messages.Consumer Affairs did call me once, I missed the call they said they would call back and they have not. I am amazed how uncaring and unprofessional this company is. I have left several messages with no response. I am so tired of Hyundai taking advantage of me. I will NEVER buy or recommend to anyone buy a Hyundai. I have never experience a situation as bad as this in my life. Hyundai is not a stand up corporation in my eyes. They are failures. TOTALLY TAKING ADVANTAGE!
My wife purchased a 2006 NEW Hyundai Sonata. We have always been avid AM News Listeners and from day 1 the radio was worse than Poor for AM. We complained and complained and all they ever said was that the antenna in the rear window was a poor design for an antenna and that was the problem. Well, my wife just purchased a New 2014 Hyundai Sonata and I took the 2006 - since I drive far less miles annually - and now I was determined to get to the problem. When I would drive the car sometimes going over a bump on the road would instantly increase the radios reception but it would last then go back to crappy again. Sometimes as I would start the car and back out of the garage the reception would be great - then 5 minutes later it was back to crap. One day, in the garage, as I was backing out - the reception was jumping back and forth from Poor - Good - Poor to Good - so I whacked the dashboard over the radio with my hand and there was DEAD SILENCE. I turned the car off and then back on and the radio came on but with the typical Weak reception.I purchase the Haynes/Chilton Auto Repair Guide, for the 2006 Hyundai as well a CD Hyundai Shop Manuals, and watched several YouTube videos on how to remove the radio. With the radio removed and exposed - but connected - I started wiggling/moving the antenna cable around and sure enough the reception would go to Great - Poor - and NONE. As I was holding the radio with one hand and changing the station with the other hand I also noticed that if my hand squeezed or put pressure on the top and bottom of the radio - on the Antenna connection side - (in order to hold the radio) the Reception might also go from Great to Poor to None.I could see that the antenna cable connector was CHEAP looking with the center core of the cable soldered - but the Ground wires were crimped and DID NOT look there was a good connection. So I went to Radio Shack and purchased another Motorola Antenna Connector and re-did the connection to the cable. With the radio still exposed and the antenna cable connected with the new Radio Shack connector the radio sounded great. And squeezing didnt seem to have any effect as before. So I put the radio back in and left the pods on the sides of the radio disconnected - temporarily. The measured depth of the New Radio Shack Connector was slightly Longer than the original Cable Connector so it was putting some pressure on the cable and the connection and the radio began to act -up again when installed so I removed the radio (which removed the pinching pressure on the cable) and the radio worked fine.So now it is possible that there is a bad connection, internally, on the Female part of the Antenna cable connection to the radio. I tested the continuity for the Ground and hot points to the cable connection - while I had the radio out and they tested OK - but the test was not under a pressure stress, either. So the bottom line is that Hyundai Continues to LIE and ** about the AM Radio Problems with the 2006 Sonatas. Unlike the most recent excuse from Hyundai Service at Lester Glenn in Toms River, New Jersey, the problem is NOT with the Rear Window-Designed Antenna - its the cheap Connectors, Crappy Radios and the ** Service people who dont want to do their job of fixing your car under warranty.My wife took out the 100,000 miles / 10 year Bumper to Bumper Extended Warranty with Hyundai when she bought the car so now - After 6-8 Hours of MY TIME and the expenses to buy workshop materials - I am going to raise Hell with Hyundai USA!
2012 Hyundai Touring car - Driving 45 mph. Everyone slammed on my brakes. They would not lock up. Hit the car ahead at about 22 mph. No air ages deployed even though it smashed in the hood.
2013 Hyundai Tucson Engine Failure @ 125,000 miles - Lower end rod bearing failure with no warning, no check engine light and all service has been done as required. Im getting a new engine for $7000 plus, I cant buy a new car for that price, includes labor which is nearly 1/3 of the cost. Im questioning any further purchases of a Hyundai product. This has happened in several other Hyundai vehicles but no class action as yet.
On Memorial Day, I purchased a Hyundai Tucson Sport AWD 1.6L Turbo. This is my first time purchasing a Hyundai and I really made the purchase because of the warranty. Now I am having buyers remorse. The vehicle I purchased drives great on the highway, but is not easy to drive in city traffic. I experience a lot of hesitation and jerkiness when pressing on the gas pedal to accelerate from a complete stop. I have complained about this to the dealer and was told I need to get used to the gas pedal because that is the nature of the turbo engine. I have also experienced a lot of static on FM radio stations. The owners manual mentions that static does not mean there is anything wrong with the radio, it is just a poor signal coming to the car due to distance from the tower or perhaps trees or buildings blocking the signal. I have even experienced outages when I tune into XM stations using Sirius. I will get silence for up to three minutes. The dealer told me to bring it in at my convenience and they will check out the radio, but I have a feeling if it does not act up while they have it, they will just re-iterate what the owners manual says. I have never had these issues with any of my previous vehicles, so I think these are design issues with this model. I am not a happy Hyundai owner to say the least.
Power steering on Elantra pulls to one side. See other complaints online. This car problem should be recalled. It is a safety issue.
2003 Hyundai Accent - 65k miles and garage kept, car taken to mechanic for repair. Car barely made it. Front frame rusted completely out and engine ready to fall out. Hyundai dealer are aware of their other cars that had this problem. Arizona representative blamed it on Illinois WEATHER. Very serious and dangerous problem that Hyundai is ignoring. Please google Hyundai front frame rust to see that there are other complaints. Please advise how to get this safety alert out to consumers. Also that Hyundai is held responsible for repairs of their substandard cars.
My car only got 7,000 KM. The trouble with my Elantra, my battery goes dead and have been boosted twice and another time it went completely dead. Had it towed to the nearest dealer. This is a new Hyundai Elantra Limited when it had less than 6,000 KM it started but I had a 2012 which I had the same problems, so I traded for another one. I was told my 2012 had a ground issue. Now I know that I been lied to. Going to my dealer he tell me that the alternator is a low amperage alternator to save weight, and I should consider getting a solar panel and plug it in my cigarette lighter to charge my car. Now I drive some days around 20 KM which should be plenty to charge the battery, and I hardly use any electronics, like listen to the news 20 minutes. Now I dont trust this car because I dont know when Im going to be stranded. Now my Elantra got 7,000 KM and I dont dare to play the radio even to listen to the news, should I get a portable radio with batteries and a solar panel. By the way, once every two weeks I go on a 200Km ride. People are telling me Im being lied to. I have since notified Hyundai head office in Ontario, the phone # is in one of the manuals that I got with the car. Its been two months and no reply yet. They got my email address. Wont even send me an email, so I call again today.October/24/2014, I purchase this car I believe April/9/2014. This car is like you say new, I purchase an extended warranty which I told them I had purchase one from GM and it was worthless. $2400 and they told me that they werent GM, that you could trust Hyundai and they stick to their warranty. It was about a little bit over $1600. My, I dont know what to believe. Am I told lies? We will soon find out and Im about ready to go throughout my iPad just what the problems are about my warranty. I hope its not another lie.
Had a break down at 1930 hrs... Even after repeated complaints didnt get any assistance to my car Whole night... and the dealers were so rude and blunt to ask for any help...In spite of repeated calls there were no help to me. At last they wash away their hands after giving me one number... which nobody picked up. As a result there were no help from Hyundai and I had to struggle with the local dealers for help...
Sad and Disappointed, Hyundai Customer support sucks. Have been writing to them for over 2 months. Zero product knowledge. Customer service guys call back and talk to me asking, What car you want to buy? They look at the car for First time. I doubt they even work for Hyundai. I know more about Hyundai than these guys and have been driving Hyundai for 17 years, no more! Trading in for new Tesla. At least the Brand cares for its customers!!!
Since I purchased the new Hyundai Sonata 2012, I have had problems starting the vehicle. Within the 1st week of purchase, it had to be towed because it wouldnt start. It didnt recognize the keys (keyless remote). They didnt find a problem. The second time, it didnt recognize the brake to start the car. This time, they changed a faulty brake switch. This occurred in the 1st month of purchase. Now at about 15,066 miles, they had to fix the grounding wires under the brake switch which also made it so the lights were not turning on at night and the car didnt start. My car had to get a jump from the tow truck driver. On all 3 times, I had to miss work and my son was late going to school. Having a car not start is very dangerous as a single parent, especially at night. Having the lights not work is also dangerous as I was flashed at many times on the freeway and didnt know why it wasnt working. Ladin provided me with a loaner car, which was greatly appreciated. This problem got worse and caused further concerns such as the lights not working. I have seen the same problem listed by others with this vehicle. Very dangerous for anyone. This has been a lemon since the first week of purchase in that I could not start a brand new car and the problem continued 2 other times and further corrupted the lights. I do not feel confident driving this car as each time I was assured that it would be fine, it was not fine. Thank you for your help in addressing this matter.
At 50000 mi., paint has started to peel along with rust coming through. 52000 mi., have had to have radio replaced twice. 55000 mi., both front drive axles have failed. These cars are a piece of junk. Glad I bought extended warranty. Will never buy a Hyundai again.
I purchased a 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT new, and have driven it for four years, putting about 70K miles on it. Based on my multiple bad experiences with this car, I will never again purchase another Hyundai vehicle. First - as is well known, the true MPG is nowhere near the marketing claims made by Hyundai (and there is an unresolved class action lawsuit underway to address that). Then I had a problem where the rear quarter-panel window trim fell off - fortunately I found a TSB published on the internet about that, so Hyundai fixed it under warranty. If I hadnt researched the problem and printed out the TSB, the dealer would have charged me $$$ for the repair.Then most recently I had a problem where the clutch started chattering/slipping. My mechanic discovered that the transmission input shaft seal was defective/leaking. Even though this is covered by the Hyundai 10 year/100K warranty - Hyundai refused to honor the warranty and pay for the repair. I cant wait to trade in this car, and kiss Hyundai goodbye forever. If you are considering buying a Hyundai vehicle, I would recommend purchasing instead a vehicle with higher quality/reliability and from a manufacturer who stands behind their product and their warranty commitments (think Honda, Toyota, Mazda). And definitely dont count on the Hyundai 10 year/100K warranty actually providing you any protection from product defects.
If I can save you the trouble from leasing from Hyundai, then please listen carefully. I have always leased my cars. Ford, Volvo, Saab, etc. Ive NEVER had an issue with a leasing company, process has been flawless. Hyundai Financial has been an absolute nightmare. At lease end, Hyundai send out a 3rd party to look over your car. There is no wear and tear allowed for a 3-year lease. The 3rd party company spends 1 1/2 hrs going over your car with a magnifying glass (true!) and then hands you a bill for $3,000. If there is a pen mark on your seats, then you have to replace the entire fabric on all the seats. They then tell you that this is just a guide for you to get things fixed and this will never go to Hyundai. Thats a lie. We took the car to have the ridiculous list addressed, spent hundreds of dollars getting tiny scratches out, the pen mark on the fabric (there were no dents, tires were brand new, under mileage, etc.), and faxed over the complete report to Hyundai. The car was in such perfect condition that when we turned it in, the dealership leasing manager called the sales manager and said they needed to buy this car. A month later, we get the $3,000 bill from Hyundai. They DO NOT send someone out to look over the car after the work is done. They go completely off the original work their 3rd party sends them. We submitted our receipts 3 times and they told us they didnt like the wording on our invoices and suggested we wrote it ourselves! I said feel free to call the company that we paid hundreds of dollars to who worked on our car 3 days. The detail shop called us, said Hyundai was extremely rude, and that was the end of that. Three months later, on Christmas Eve morning, we get a call from a collection agency that says we owe $3,000. We now have to hire an attorney. STAY FAR AWAY FROM HYUNDAI!
Had to replace back brake every few months and one day while driving heard a noise and lost control of the car, had the car tow to the shop and was told my the back axle had come detached from the subframe due to rust and could not be repaired... Called Hyundai and they and complain about it the other day. Someone from Hyundai of America call me saying they want to buy my car back for 500.
I was in an auto accident on 01-09-2012 in a 2002 Hyundai Sonata. It was a front end collision and my car was totaled. My air bags did not deploy and the claims adjustor and a certified mechanic said with the impact they should have. I am currently undergoing chemotherapy and have a port catheter in the right side of my chest. Upon impact I hit the steering wheel causing painful bruising to the chest, especially where the port is located. I had a dye test and they found a blood clot around the port. I have consulted an attorney and would like a response from you as soon as possible.
It seems like a minor problem but the lifters on the back of my 2006 Elantra Hatchback failed just after the warranty expired. To have these replaced at the dealer would cost about $200. I thought they would hold when fully extended but the other day the hatch smacked me on the back of the head when I was looking down into the back of the car.
Not happy with AC drainage system or Checks before delivery, AC drainage continue after engine stops - I did checks for more than 2 weeks from office to home and home to office. The drain continue even after 4 hours or 7 hours of engine stops in form of droplets.
Since purchasing a used 2011 sonata I have dealt with a few recalls. One for metal debris may not have been fully removed from the crankshaft area during manufacturing causing knocking noise. My Sonata sounds like dozens of marbles flying around in the engine yet it was given a clean bill of health on this recall. They did however recommend replacing my front brakes prior to me leaving but I declined since I just got new tires and already knew I had quite some time left on the brakes. By the way it was 18 months before needing the front brakes. Totally bad reflection on the dealer service manager at Suntrup Hyundai in st. louis.Second recall was for powertrain -- the transmission shift cable may detach from the shift lever pin. This happened to me at a supermarket only I had no idea about the recall. Tried to start car but it would not turn over at all. I noticed the dash board showed the car in Drive but it was in park. That seemed strange. Got a tow truck to take car to dealer after trying to jump it. Dealer called and told me it needed a new battery which I could not believe since the tow truck tried to jump it and failed.So, I went ahead and replaced the battery and When I picked the car up the dealer told me they also fixed a recall with the transmission cable shift lever pin. I pointed out that was what happened to me at the supermarket. Car showed it was in drive but it was really in park and it would not start. They basically lied and replaced the battery that did not need replacing and it was the recall all along that caused the car not to start. Once again this is a dealer service manager problem. Clearly a big problem with Suntrup Hyundai in St Louis.Third was today. MDPS ECU replacement. Electric Power assist causes power steering to go out without notice. They fixed mine today but informed me that I needed a Steering coupler which would cost 350.00. I told Tim that nothing about the steering was broke so why would I need to do that. I left but as soon as I started the car and pulled out, I had to go back into the service counter. I told Tim the steering was screwed up bad. He said that he already explained to me that it was a separate issue and the computer was just compensating for the loose steering. How about that it was fine when I brought it in for the recall and it was given back to me broken. The steering is so loose that you can blow on it to make it turn. It must be twice as dangerous now as before. So unbelievable of a story that it seems made up.
This complaint is in regards to the Hyundai customer service team. I have been in contact with several associates and managers, concerning a state to state transfer of my vehicles registration since November 19th, 2021. On November 19th, 2021, I contacted the team (via (800) 523-4030) to ask the best course of action for receiving, completing and returning the required documentation for this request. I was advised to mail in the documentation, to the overnight office located at the following address: 5505 N. Cumberland Ave., Ste 307 Chicago, IL 60055-4301.The package was delivered on Nov 22, 2021 at 9:48 am and signed for by an associate. After not receiving any follow up, I contacted the team again on December 9th, 2021 to confirm delivery. No confirmation was provided and I was told they would be following up with their partners in Chicago. I followed up again on December 17th and the 27th, still no answer or record of previous conversations. On the 27th I resubmitted the state to state transfer request via email/secure message. I was referred to the escalations department and have followed up 5 times since as resent the email once. Including today. There is still no record of notes from previous conversations or requests previously sent.Today I asked for a 4th submission via secured messaging, a copy of my title and for yet another email to be sent to the titles and complaints department. None of which has taken place. I am currently paying monthly for a vehicle I cannot legally operate, due to the customer service teams blatant neglect for the last 2 months. Each time I call I have to repeat this story. Enough is enough.
Hyundai has totally misrepresented the mileage. I purchased a 2013 Elantra; I get 24-City, 28-Highway. I have taken the car into the dealership to complain. They told me they find nothing wrong with the car. They told me it was my driving. I was told I need to coast whenever possible. On the street or the highway when I hit the crest, I must take my foot off the gas and coast and then I would improve my mileage. I hate the dealership and this car. I purchased the car because of the 30-38 MPG, and it is simply not true. Do I have any recourse? I would definitely join a class action case against them. Please advise.
I would Strongly recommend not to buy Hyundai car, Especially PUSH BUTTON start. I am having I20 and facing a lot of trouble with the push button system. The car doesnt starts for hours. You will have to wait in traffic for hours to start the car again if turned off on lights. Very poor after sale service. Hyundai doesnt have solution to this problem yet. I have been struggling from past 2 years. The attitude of Hyundai Service Managers is very irresponsible. Faced a lot of harassment. In-fact being a loyal Hyundai customer from past 10 years I would rate 0.01 out of 5. No Initiatives, no responses from Hyundai in this regard. I repeat NEVER BUY HYUNDAI PUSH BUTTON CARS.
