I was in an auto accident on 01-09-2012 in a 2002 Hyundai Sonata. It was a front end collision and my car was totaled. My air bags did not deploy and the claims adjustor and a certified mechanic said with the impact they should have. I am currently undergoing chemotherapy and have a port catheter in the right side of my chest. Upon impact I hit the steering wheel causing painful bruising to the chest, especially where the port is located. I had a dye test and they found a blood clot around the port. I have consulted an attorney and would like a response from you as soon as possible.
Hyundai has sold cars knowingly and not disclosing a defective paint issue. These cars have paint that actually peels right off the body of the car. When Hyundai is contacted they want to pass it off as weather. They know that this defect occurred during the painting process. Please join me in a class action lawsuit forcing Hyundai to recall and be fully responsible for this defect. Please contact the Attorney General in your state and file a complaint. Thank you.
I am hoping this will help me in some way. In Aug of 2014, I spoke to Hyundai Motor Finance (the company I am having issues with, not the dealership) asking what I need to pay and how I need to pay to get my lease balance paid down so the dealership will buy my Sonata from me. The bank told me to just pay the X” amount of dollars needed through the website. I do that and the payment hit on Aug. 20th. I go to a dealership, and they tell me a payment was not shown on their end and they will not help me. I called the bank and they said the payment, should not have been processed like that and that they will re-apply it so it reflects at the dealership. Almost 1 month later it was re-applied, on Sept 18th 2014. I go to another dealership, someone met worked at this one, gave me the same exact answer. I call the bank again and once again I get another another answer. I have 3-wayed myself, the bank and several Hyundai Dealership reps (including management) and no answer was the same. The number at the bank wouldnt show up at the dealership. My payment would not show up at the dealerships. The bank reps told the dealership to just pay a certain amount, they would not send the dealership an official notarized invoice saying how much is owed. It was pretty much just ‘take our word for it’ type of deal. Basically another dealership told me they will not go by HMF word because they do not TRUST them and has had issues. How come the Hyundai bank and dealership not work together and have the same financing system is beyond me. The dealership told me to get a refund from the bank and give them the money and they will pay the difference that way. So from the end of September till this day, I have been waiting to get a refund. I have spoken to managers and reps and everyone has ** and have not helped me. I sent $8500 in August and still waiting to get some of it back. I spoke to 4 different managers and was told I would get a call back. No one has ever called me back. I ask them if they see the notes saying for a call back and it is all written there. Either the manager is on lunch or in a meeting. Right! In Oct, I was told a check would ship Oct 4th. I call back Nov 12th asking when it was shipped and they said Nov 5th and shipped to your current mailing address. I call back Nov 18th asking where this check is and they said it was shipped yesterday, Nov 17th.” Make it worse they shipped it to my old mailing address!! They apologized for not adding the mailing address. How do they make such a mistake when they ask you for your address at the beginning of each call? I speak to a manager right after that. She told me she would put a stop to the check and get a check over-nighted to me. Ashley the manager promised to call me back that day. Never did. I call back that evening and shes allegedly on Lunch!! Sure. Call back today Nov 19th and every single manager is in the meeting. Guess what, I was supposed to get a call back. NOTHING!! NO CALL BACKS AND NO REFUND!! Top it off, this car was supposed to be turned in Aug before my car insurance was due. I have had to pay for full coverage for 4 months for a car I am not driving.
I will never lease or buy another Hyundai again. The dealership in Kirkland, WA where I leased it was bad enough but the way the finance company has treated me is horrible. They are charging me for excess wear and tear which is ridiculous. I had an auto shop look at it who said it was all normal wear and tear. DO NOT PURCHASE OR LEASE A HYUNDAI.
I have had my car serviced regularly. I decided to get the oil changed at 5000 miles but went over. However, before that can happen the car starting running rough. Check the oil dipstick, there was no oil in the car. No leaks! Howd this happen?
My 2006 Sonata with 38,000 miles developed a bad engine noise. I took it to two dealers in Rochester, NY and it was diagnosed as a defective part in the hydraulic system, keeping chain tension. The cost to repair was $1000. Not something that should be happening on a car with only 38,000 miles. I called Hyundai Customer Affairs and they would not accept responsibility for the problem. This car was passed from father to daughter due to death 4 months earlier and as of 2004, the warranties do not pass to the beneficiary. If the father still owned the car, it would be covered. Last Hyundai we will ever own. We will be getting rid of the car.
HYUNDAI CANADA WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR VEHICLES. Back in November of 2012 I wrote Steve Kelleher a letter stating my sheer dissatisfaction with the water problems I was experiencing with my 2010 Genesis Coupe. These problems became apparent in October 2009, less than 6 months from when I purchased it brand new in May of 2009. I have a multitude of work orders showing evidence of this water leak as well as my diligence in trying to address these issues. To date the sunroof is still leaking and soaking the back interior of my car. HYUNDAI CANADA is refusing to address this leak as the car is now out of warranty.In my letter to Mr. Kelleher I stated the following as well as sending him proof of the work orders: Water running down the back speakers after rain. Leaks soaking the trunk as well as interior back panel and seat. The radio cuts in and out after heavy rain when the car is cold. The air conditioner and fan randomly turn on when both dials are off. Thick frost accumulates on the insides of the windows when cold. Windows fog up in the rain. The car smells musty. Back tail lights leaking.Since then radio cut out when loading CD player, eating my CD and rendering CD player inoperable. Because of a faulty sunroof mechanism the water leaks have caused staining of the interior liner. The interior liner was totally replaced because of extensive water damage. The seals around the back window were replaced springs popping out of the back seat and the leather seat ripping at seams where water was pooling so the backseat was replaced. The passenger window was lifted and reset because it was an entry point for water. The ABS light remained on and was repaired. The passenger window would not close and sporadically after a rain gets stuck. Tail lights leaking both resealed. LeakPro resealed the car (sunroof, mechanisms, drip tray...etc.). Over 1 of water was recently wet-vacuumed out of the trunk.This car has done nothing but leak and after almost 8 years the water leak has not been resolved. Over the years the dealership has tried to address the problems that the water leak has caused but for whatever reason have not addressed the water leak itself. My car is still getting soaked after it rains. The dealership cannot afford to investigate this leak further and submitted a request to Hyundai Canada which was declined. It is time for Hyundai Canada to step up and back their product and their warranty. Because this has been an ongoing problem that has not been resolved since I purchased the car in 2009, the time sensitivity of the warranty should not be a factor.I am a single mom who has recently been reduced to a 4 day work week. I saved for and purchased this car because of Hyundais extended warranty and their reputation of standing behind their product. This car was not cheap and I expected it to last me a very long time. With water damage this car will rust and cause more electrical problems.
I was in a side and front end collision and my left side airbag went off but my driver air bag did not after trying to avoid a head-on collision with a dodge truck. After the truck hit my left side, I ended up going through a wire fence and hit a steel pole and a cedar tree before my car stopped. After all that no steering wheel airbag. This on 11/14/11 at 6 a.m. Im feeling pain and Im not happy at this point.
I own a Tucson ix35, I am very happy with the car to the point that I wanted to change my old one for a new Tucson. My disappointment started after I took it to the shop because of a hesitation problem. It was a Friday, at first I was attended adequately. They asked my phone to call me the next day (Saturday) to inform me what the car needed to solve the problem. They never called me until I showed up on Monday in the shop to see what the problem was. They have not even touched the car and they were surprised to see me there, at 3:00 p.m. I received a call telling me that the price was approximately 360 u.s.d because they did not know if other parts were faulty, showing that they have not checked the car professionally and technically to what I said to suspend the work.When I appeared to take my car, the person in charge tried to give me a not convincing explanation for the delay with a not very friendly attitude. After he was asked about report a serious shop is supposed to give the customers before delivering the car, the guy said Do you know what a check up is? and urged me to pay 39 u.s.d. My son was about to react but I signaled to calm down. I did not say a word, paid the bill and left the shop. The car was as dirty as I left (I do not know if they do not have any more the policy of delivering a clean car or simply the 39 dollars I paid are not worth it). Anyways the summary is: I as a customer feel mistreated and I am seriously reconsidering the possibility to buy another Hyundai. Take this information of my bad experience to try to improve the quality of the service. My best regards.
2005 Hyundai xg350 has been back at Hyundai numerous times for air bag lite on problem since car was new. After the warranty expired we decided to just forget about it, enough is enough. And the lite is still on.
This is an amazing car. Being a plug in hybrid I get almost 700 miles on combination electric and gas. Its very comfortable and room for 5, plus great storage with the back seats folded down {I can even get my golf clubs and cart in the back}. The electronic features are very good. It gives a feeling of safety and convenience.Sound system is better than I would have thought for a smaller car. I would buy again.
I made an earlier complaint about this. The air bag light stays on at all times in my 2009 Hyundai Accent. I took it in for service today and it was there all day. When I checked on it, I was told the tech could not figure out what was causing the light to stay on. According to the service writer, they will have to check it one component at a time. This sounds very expensive. I cant believe this has never occurred before and I am the first Hyundai owner to have this problem. Hyundai was touted as a safety-minded company, but this car is not worth pouring money into while I still have payments.
My original fuel pump went out at 80,000+ miles (2011), so I replaced it with a Hyundai part. Three months later at 86,000 miles, this Hyundai fuel pump went out. Now, 20 months later, the same issue, fuel pump #3. No warranty and $417 part out again. Hyundai dealers know this is an issue. It is well published I found out on the internet after my first encounter. Hyundai needs to take care of this issue if they wish to continue to sell vehicles in the US. Hyundai is using refurbished parts and refuse to admit there is an issue. I was told today they do not warrant their parts for more than 12 months. Now, I can no longer utilize the dealership of my vehicle because of faulty parts. Tempe Hyundai service manager would not help in any way. My next recourse is to contact the Hyundais General Manager. I feel everyone should know and stop buying their products if they cant build dependable parts and vehicles.
Hyundai has the worst leasing programs in the business. Do not fall for their lease plan. My wife turned her Equis recently. The car was 12,000 miles under so she thought she was fine. She had the Hyundai dealer wash the car when she took it in for an oil change. They used a pressure washer and took some of the pearl white off the plastic bumper. The manager said they have had issues with this paint and not to worry. Hyundai sent a person out to look at her car and write it up. She wrote down the paint issue. She said it needed a new tire. The tire in question was well within the safe range. Note that this vehicle was known to have under equipped tires on them and she kept the same when she replaced them. After 24,000 miles she had purchased two sets of tires. The Equis was their top of the line vehicle and their bottom of the line vehicles had more bells and whistles on them. My wife had asked before purchasing the vehicle about all of the things like bluetooth and was assured it had it but the salesman didnt know how to work it. That was a lie. She went back the day after purchasing the vehicle and was told Too bad, were sorry. Cant do anything about it. I will say it was the best driving vehicle weve had and I did enjoy it. The problem was the Hyundai Lease, they lie, cheat and dig into your back pocket. DO NOT LEASE THROUGH HYUNDAI. Purchase the vehicle outright or find another lease option. My wife showed the Texas Hyundai Lease manager her original correspondence and how Hyundai Lease didnt get back to her the first week she had it. They do not care about you, just the money.We are waiting on a recall for the white paint to get our money back. Tire places including the dealership said the tire in question was within code. The dealership said they would have waived all of the issues Hyundai Lease found. Remember, youre getting the car from a dealership but youre dealing with Hyundai underhand Lease.
I was forced to sign a lease for 2012 Hyundai Elantra by Herb Chambers Hyundai of Auburn, promising a great deal and rebate. But they have put more than $3,000 above their MSRP of $21,495. They gave me no rebate. When questioned, they said this particular car doesnt have a rebate. But that car always remained in their specials page with all the other deals! They did all malpractices in the lease calculation and made me put a down of $530 - $2,000 cash and $3,300 trade-in. Still, they made my monthly installment $291.44 for 36 months with 12,000 miles per year.Their advertisement says MSRP $21,495, monthly installment $234 for $0 down! I paid $5,300 down but my installment is much higher than what their ad says. I contacted them many times with this but their response was so sarcastic and humiliating. The managing director asked me, Then why did you take the car? in a very sarcastic way. They even openly accepted that they put a higher MSRP purposefully and they do have the right from Hyundai to do so.I complained in Hyundai consumer affairs but they closed the case just listening to the dealer saying that they gave me a huge package of accessories which made the price difference. The accessories the dealer gave me did not cost beyond $1,000, but the lady who represented Hyundai was not willing to listen to me. She was in a hurry to close the case. I am trying to get justice in some or other way.
I got a loaner that is supposed to be paid by my warranty and the dealer did not pay their bill at Enterprise rental. Enterprise had my cc and charged me for the rental. I was told by Hyundai warranty that I will not be reimbursed. Hyundai warranty division is inept, unprofessional and of low standards. In other words, they suck big time. I will never ever buy another Hyundai again and I will tell everyone who listen about this crappy ** company!
I recently purchased a 2017 Genesis G80, made by Hyundai. They promise the sun, moon and stars on their customer service. They sell you on the concierge service, where they pick your car up and basically take care of everything. This is a totally lie and the service people have no clue on this service. I have issues with the way the hood is aligned and they had no clue about it, but when you Google the internet, its a common problem. Once Hyundai dealer was unsure if they had concierge service or not and put me through to voicemail. I wouldnt recommend Genesis to anyone... just completely horrible customer service!! I would NEVER, NEVER EVER buy another Hyundai or Genesis. Pay the extra money and buy an Acura or Lexus!
If you like comfortable seats dont buy this car. Cheated out on one of the most important features, the seat. I have the rear camera, touch screen, Bluetooth, etc. but the seats? My 2009 was more comfortable. I will not buy another. Service let me know just now as I am there that Im not the first to complain about seats. I dont believe they will outlast my payments. I had a great experience at the dealer.
Hyundai is the most morally corrupt of all car manufacturers. In my experience, our 2002 Elantra had multiple catastrophic failures under warranty. This could have resulted to injury or death, since the failures occurred while the car was in traffic. The first three occurrences were due to defective fuel injection. After three attempts by a completely inept dealer (Antwerpen of Clarksville, MD), it was finally fixed. The most recent was the breaking off yet again in traffic of a highly corroded front control arm, leaving left front tire separated from the axle and the car out of control. There was a recall issued in 2009 (ID# 09v125000) for this very problem. Antwerpen claimed to have done the recall work on my car when I took it in to them for service in February 2010 but the failure occurred despite this. They tell me now that all they are obligated to do is to repair the vehicle. I feel this car will never be safe to drive and I have asked them to give me a fair financial offer for buying back this defective car at its present value. This has been rejected.
My 2007 Hyundai Entourage at 49,798 miles had to have its pulley replaced at my expense. Obviously the part was defective. The dealer said there was no implied warranty, so I had to pay $279.57 for the labor and part. I never had a pulley replaced on any car I owned. One van had over 250,000 miles on it, and the pulley on it was still good.
April of 2016 my vehicle was making a loud knocking noise then finally cut off. I had AAA to tow it to my mechanics which he stated that I was having engine problems. I then towed it to Hyundai dealership and they informed me that I would need a new engine. They gave me the runaround saying that I had to come up with documentation showing that I had been getting oil changes. I asked how many do they need and they informed me that I need to come up with as many as possible, and that I wouldnt be able to receive a rental car until I was approved.Two weeks after having my vehicle I called and they told me that I was approved for a rental. On a regular basis (at least twice a week} I called to get an update with my car. All that I could get from the conversation was, Just keep driving the rental until I tell you to stop. I was given a Nissan Frontier, which was a nice truck but mpg 19 city / 23 highway which we all know that Hyundai 28 city / 36 highway. So it was killing me in gas because I drive 1 hour and 30 to and from work.So I took it back after having it for a little over 2 months and got a Kia Optima for maybe 5 days then my car was ready. I was called at 1:30 and was told that I had to pick my car up that same day, which put me in an inconvenience because I was scheduled to work a late shift and there was no preparation for that. Hyundai informed me that the billing for the rental car ended that day and after that I would be responsible. That put me in a bind because I had to get off work and drive hour and a half to pick up my vehicle. They had my vehicle from April to June.Two days after my vehicle was returned to me my check engine light came on. I took my vehicle back to Hyundai to find out if it was related to the engine block and I was told that it was the high pressure fuel pump $748, transmission sensor $710, and clock spring $398. I was charged $99.95 to do this diagnostic testing. Of course I dont have this kind of money so I declined other than paying for the diagnostic testing.In August I starting experiencing shaking and popping in my steering wheel, so again, I took it to Hyundai to find out the problem and at this time I was told that it was the steering coupler $404. All of this in one year. This car is a lemon and something needs to be done about this. It makes no sense to have to pay for the car and $2260 worth of repairs all in 2 months time. Personally I think everyone that owns one of these vehicle should get a refund.
I currently own this 2015 Sonata limited and have seen very little of it lately. I purchased this car in October 2015. After around seven months of ownership, my battery went dead. I called service. They jump the car and figured that was the end of the problem since it was a very cold morning. A few days later the same thing happened again. Called the service. They jump the car. This time I drove it to Star Hyundai service. The manager at that time, Mike told me that there was nothing wrong with the battery and they were not replacing it. This was after two hours of trying to diagnose the problem. He tell me if it happens again I should have the car towed in. That is exactly what I did a few days later. He still refused to admit that there was something wrong with the battery. I then contacted the dealer whom I bought the car from who put the screws to him and he finally changed the battery. I thought this was the end of the problem. Wrong! This problem has repeated itself several times over the last few months. I have had three new batteries since the original battery put in to this car. I only have around 16,000 miles on the car. After the issue had escalated I contacted their customer care department. I was given a case number and a really horrible case worker. He never answered his phone, was very slow to get back to me. Kyle **. They advertise great customer service. HORRIBLE!!! I was forced to hire a lemon law lawyer. My car is presently in the shop going on 26 days. They could not find the reason for the battery failure. Fortunately for me, I was given a loaner. Now I am just waiting to see what they are going to do as far as replacing the car or offering me a buyback. I certainly dont want a replacement. This was my first and my last Hyundai purchase.
I noticed yesterday for the first time in my 2012 Elantra Touring, a wet/damp area at the top of the passenger side windshield strut where the plastic strut cover meets the fabric of the roof. It is not coming from the door seal, it is dry by the door seal?
We have been waiting since 12/2/11 when we purchased our car to get the Blue Link service. We call the Center on a regular basis and all we get is: Ill give you my ID number (with a different agent) and well call you. Were working on it.” No one ever calls us back. The name and the ID number of the individual is never available when we call back.
Do not buy Hyundai! You will regret it. I was sold a 2017 hyundai from the dealership with about 30k miles on it. This happened while the company knew about all the faults with the 2016-2017 transmission and DCT issues (please research the vast array negative testimonials on this line). I go for services 2-3x per year and before the recommended mileages are hit (I have the receipts and documentation to show this). Despite being continuously proactive, it was not long after I starting dropping thousands in unanticipated repairs. Only 2 weeks after a multi-point inspection and supposed tune-up at Lester Glenn in Toms River, the car started stalling. I had to bring it back for additional diagnostics and repairs. Again, a few months later, I had another service done. Part of it involved a light bulb I could have changed myself but was willing to pay a few extra bucks to have done do to business.My mind changed when the service rep, Chris, attempted to up-charge me ~$150 to change the light bulb, claiming the bumper had to be removed. After some stern discussion on how I knew that was not the case, he only admitted to attempting to upcharge me after I refused that particular fix by them. Yes, he actually admitted to trying to upcharge me. After spending a few hundred on some various fluid changes and checks I went on my way. 2 weeks later, the car transmission goes and it can no longer go in reverse. Going forward it becomes dangerous too as it stalls more and stutters. When I bring it back, Lester Glenn and Hyundai say that a transmission replacement will be $4,700. This is while I still have $11,600 still to pay off on this scam of a car I have only had for 2-3yrs and got at ~30K miles. Neither Lester Glenn or Hyundai Corporate offered my family any help with this situation.They did not even waive/refund my prior diagnostic fees and wouldn’t provide a loaner car when I needed it for work! In fact, other than Shawn (head rep at Lester Glenn?), no one there even feigned sympathy or understanding for the matter. Hyundai has sent me from slightly skeptical to full-blown traumatized about the auto industry. Especially in a time where many are financially hurting from the pandemic, their actions and duplicity completely contradict the integrity claims they attempt to advertise. I cannot warn you enough to stay away from their products and from Lester Glenn’s service. I don’t want this happening to anyone else!
We purchased a 2020 Hyundai Kona and drove it for approximately 12,000 miles. At that point, the transmission started lurching and the check engine light came on. We immediately took the car in to the dealer. After a week and a half calling almost every day to find out what was wrong, we were informed that the transmission had completely failed. Still under warranty, we had to wait another two weeks or so for Hyundai to approve the repair of a car with 12,000 miles. Obviously waiting for better than three weeks just to diagnosis the repair and get the green light for repair is absurd, but it gets so much worse. As you would expect, we called the dealer every couple of days to check in. 100% of our calls went to voicemail and the dealer returned our call about 1 out of every 4 times. We were finally told that Hyundai doesnt have the parts for repair and that they dont have any timeline for getting the parts. At that point, we tried to work with Hyundai to get the car repurchased under our state lemon law. Our particular law states that cars under warranty are eligible for lemon status if they have been in the sop for greater than 30 days (cumulative) while under warranty. When we started working with Hyundai, we were already at nearly 60 days without the car. Hyundai took our information 3 separate times because they are apparently as bad at record keeping as they are at manufacturing and customer service, and then denied our request without providing a reason for the denial. We have now gone to the BBB to try and resolve the issue under their manufacturers program. The BBB says that they generally resolve issues in 30 days, but we are weeks into the process and Hyundai hasnt even responded to the BBB complaint. As of this writing, our car has been at the dealer for 72 days and we still have no idea when we may get it back or whether Hyundai plans to force us to sue them. Meanwhile, we are trying to figure out what to do to get out of this terrible purchase decision. I dont know what more I can say to warn you, but for the love of everything that is holly, do not buy a Hyundai. Maybe you will get lucky and your new Hyundai wont have a breakdown, but you really need to ask yourself if you can risk months without a car, should you have an issue. There are better options out there and you should take them. Hyundai is not worth the risk, I promise you!
I love my Hyundai Tucson. I love the performance and durability. It is a 2016, and I love all of the added features. Since I am 75 years old I particularly like the warning when I want to change lanes, that there is another car beside me. I also like the backup screen especially at night, and a warning if a car or person is coming behind me.
2017 Hyundai Tucson started on fire...then exploded...twice. Totaled. No collision, no maintenance issues prior. Driving down the interstate the engine started revving, smoking and then flames. The entire front of my car is gone. No one was hurt, but I will never get in another Hyundai. Ever.
Back in late November of 2012, I found out that Hyundai misrepresented their gas mileage on the Hyundai Elantra. There was an email address to write to. I did, and was told that I would receive money each month for as long as I owned my car, in the amount of $37.56 per month. It has been over four months now and I have not heard from them, nor received any money from them. This is my 5th Hyundai (3 Elantras, 1 Azera, and 1 Santa Fe), but if I dont get any results from them on this matter, this will be my last Hyundai.
Had to use Hyundai roadside assistance on my 2019 Ioniq to get the car from my home to the dealer. This process was easy and efficient and I give them 5 stars. After a day, local service dept. called and said I need a new hybrid battery (after only 2 years!!) and they are out of stock with no ETA. This dealer has no loaner car program so I am stuck without transportation. Called Corporate Hyundai and now awaiting a callback. Have had prior issues with the car but were fixed under warranty. Jury is out on how Hyundai will help me out. Not happy with the quality of the car since it wasn’t cheap.
If i could give this place negative stars I would. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.. This place is the effing worst. I get a notice of a recall on my car so I make an appointment to bring my car stating that this is for a recall ... The lady takes my info ... vin number and all tells me exactly what I need done... I have to take the day off of work to get the service done only to find out that day they dont even have the part available. You would think someone would of called me beforehand . I had reschedule. .. I take it back on my scheduled date only to be told Oh this is an all day thing youll have to bring it back another day. I informed the guy as calm as I could that this is the second time Im here for this same issue I was scheduled to come in why wouldnt they again tell me this over the phone. He asks me can you leave it over night. I told him I was prepared to leave and have a ride home waiting... As long as I can get it back before Monday Ill be good. He said yeah itll be ready tomorrow. Ill call you. Never got a call back. That was Saturday. Today is Sunday Im calling like crazy to get a status on my car only to find out they are closed today. So unprofessional. I will never deal with this place again. Im finding out info on how to complain to corporate.
2012 Hyundai Tucson. Bought my Hyundai late in 2012. My car has 86,000 miles on it (I commute for work) and the motor is shot. No noise. No lights. No warnings at all. I was traveling and engine light came on and thirty SECONDS later I was on the side of the road. I have had to argue through all of this with the dealer and Hyundai in order for my car to be repaired. I have (thankfully) kept all maintenance records through my mechanic. Needs new motor and there are none available because Sonatas were all recalled for the engine design issue. Same issue as the design flaw in mine but Hyundai gambled with lives and warranty that the engines wouldnt go until after warrantys were up. This has been a nightmare!!! They are telling me it is going to be 8 plus weeks before my vehicle is repaired. In the meantime the dealer has given a loaner car that is NOT comparable to my vehicle what so ever and it is the Sonata you know the one that has been recalled for motor!! Are you kidding me. Husband and I are speaking to a lawyer... Can you say CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT!!!
While driving at 70 miles an hour on I-87 using cruise control, the car jerked, check engine light came on and the car completely stopped accelerating. There was no response when pressing the gas pedal. Luckily, we were near an exit. We were not rear ended by a truck and were able shift lanes and to roll off and put our hazard lights on. On the exit, the car came to a dead stop. After checking the engine, we turned it off and the car started back up. And we were able to drive to a local service station concerned about driving any farther. The mechanic was able to determine there was an error code related to the throttle control. On restarting the car, the engine lights reset and the car ran normally.We continued on our trip. When we returned home, we brought the car to the Hyundai dealer where it was purchased to service the car. After they examined the car, we were told there was nothing they could do as there were no error codes in memory. They said that we should continue to drive it until it happened again. When I mentioned that there was a technical service bulletin regarding the throttle sensor and it should be either replaced or tested, I was told that they could not do anything until an error was recorded in the memory of the computer. It was because Hyundai USA would not cover anything under warranty, even though this was a serious safety concern and would most likely to occur again. When I asked if it was likely to occur again, I was told most likely it would happen soon and to be careful.A month later, when traveling on a long trip, it happened again on the Taconic State Parkway in New York. I was traveling at about 65 miles per hour. This time there was no shoulder. But I was able to partially pull off the road and put on my hazard lights as cars drove by and avoided hitting mine. Based on my prior experience, I turned the car off and was able to restart and move again. This same situation occurred four (4) more times as I was able to get my car finally back home to the Hyundai dealer to service the car.The Hyundai dealer replaced both the throttle sensor and the pedal assembly. The car appears to be working properly for the last two weeks. Having researched the problem with acceleration, I have learned that many others have experienced this similar and potentially dangerous problem. After speaking with other Hyundai service technicians, I was told off the record that this was not an uncommon problem. As the sensor is less than $85, I am not sure why Hyundai did not address this problem when I first brought the car or as a recall. The consequences could be much more serious.
Hyundai is comfortable, gives a smooth ride and handles well. It has low maintenance obligations though it has high mileage. Seats are high to support knee issues. Love the heated seats and back seat temperature control. The 3rd row seating is handy for road trips with the grand kids. The sun roof was also a must for me and the grands! I got the most amenities without an exorbitant additional cost. However, it doesnt have Bluetooth or a back up camera. I also would like a steering wheel that heated up and that the 3rd row seats are raised up higher off the floor. Theyre so low that theyre only appropriate for small children. Nevertheless, its the best vehicle Ive ever owned!
In February, I purchased a 2011 Hyundai Elantra Ltd. I was looking for an efficient, low MPG car and was pleased to hear that Hyundai offered a car with up to 40 MPGs highway. I dont feel that I do get the best mileage for combined city/highway, but this is not my issue. Last month on September 8, 2011, I hit a pothole. I called AAA and was informed by them that I had to be towed because there was no spare. I was shocked. I had to be towed, waited for the Mobile station to order a tire and was 1 hour late for work. I have found that the Continental, low-profile tires do not stand up to wear and tear, as my 2001 Honda Civic did. I had to change the tire because of a bubble and then had to change the tire because of the pothole. I am upset, not only because of the poor performance of the tires, but the main issue is that Hyundai misrepresents the product by not informing people that they are purchasing a car that does not come with a spare or a donut. They also do not cover towing with their road-side service. If I had not had AAA, I would have had to pay. I ended up with different tire, than the Continentals because they were not available, so I have an odd tire, all because I could not wait to have the car repaired. I called Advantage Hyundai in Bethpage, Long Island and was informed that the Hyundai Elantra no longer comes with a spare and only has a pump with some sort of sealant. They also told me that the spare would cost $380 if I wanted to order it and it was on back-order (could it be that others want a spare as well?).I understand this is a new trend in auto manufacturing (Chevy is doing the same), but my contention is that this should be made aware to the prospective purchaser of the car and told that a spare was an option and that the weight of the tire would bring down the MPGs for the vehicle. I find that this is fraudulent advertising, since the reason they can get up to 40 mpg for the Elantra is because they eliminated the weight of the spare tire.Now, I was lucky. I could have been somewhere up in the mountains, where I had no cell service and needed to change my own tire. What would I have done then? This could be dangerous. I have read articles claiming changing a tire on the road is dangerous, but if you are in the middle of nowhere, then what? I dont think that I should have to pay for a spare. I have contacted the customer service online from Hyundai and have been told that I need to go to my Hyundai dealer to buy a new tire and then they will determine if I should get a credit for it. I find this unacceptable.I have only had this car since February and have a lease for more than two years. I have not saved money on the gas and have spent a lot on tires. I dont want to be towed again. It is upsetting and there is no way I can break my lease. What are my options? I am sure that others have this problem, as well. I have asked people that I have seen in the street if they were informed about the missing spare and they have told me that they did not know that they didnt have one. I really need to resolve this. This is the first year that auto manufacturers are doing this no-spare thing and I think that I had a right to be told. I may not have taken the car and gotten stuck with this lease.
They have exaggerated mileage claims. Hyundai refused to help with my complaint about their claims of 30 mpg (city) and 40 mpg (highway) on my 2012 Elantra. I have yet to get 28 mpg while driving as economically as possible.
In June of this year (2016) I went to motor vehicle to get the necessary paperwork to register my car in my new location. I called Hyundai Motors to find out what I need to do get the title transfer. I was told to fax all my information to them including the paperwork from DMV. I faxed everything down to them in June and I was told it would be a couple of days, to get it to the mvc. As of today I still do not have my title. I have called almost everyday and Ive been hung up on. Ive talked to 4 different supervisors and gotten stone walled on every phone call. Their favorite answer is The title dept isnt available at this moment. Hyundai Motor has the worlds worst customer service and support.
The Veloster is a cheap fun car. Great to get around town and to work. The build quality could be better but youre getting a car for under $20000 it is what it is. I would definitely recommend this to a younger crowd. The ride is stiff but you need it for the way it tracks.
2011 Hyundai Elantra 1.8 L. - When stopped for a red light or just sitting at an idle (in gear or in neutral), the engine 1.8L vibrates so much that your body shakes while you are waiting for the green light. Vibration stops once the car is moving at normal speeds. I was told by the dealers service manager that Hyundai is aware of this problem, but few owners have experienced this problem and Hyundai may not fix this. Ive had this problem since I bought this car new off their lot. Its been 2 years now and I am very disappointed in the way Hyundai is doing nothing about my problem. I have continuously been bringing the car back to to the dealer asking the service people where I bought this car to please fix the problem. They keep telling me there is nothing they can do to fix it. At present, I have 40k miles. Please advise me.
I have paid all of my car payments on time for the life of the loan and when I go to make my last and final payment I see that it says past due 30 days? Statement says due date Aug 19, 2018 so I go ahead and make a payment with the representative over the phone Aug 23, 2018. She could not give me an explanation as to why it says past due when the statement says otherwise. I ask to speak to a supervisor who of course was unavailable and was told I would receive a call back. Never happened. It has not been reported to my credit bureau negatively. I am in the middle of a home loan which will now be greatly affected. It would be nice for a call back to have this rectified.
I purchased a new (only 100 kms) 2009 Sante Fe last year that had been sitting on a dealers lot for two years. It is a standard front wheel drive and thats why they say it wouldnt sell because no one wanted a standard, but I did. Since my purchase (I now have 30,000 km), there has been a bad vibration between 80km-120 km. You can see the passenger seat and the back one shacking. I phoned the dealership I purchased it from who is 3.5 hours away from me and they told me that it was the tires and it was up to me to replace. (This was after several balances out of my own pocket.) So luckily, I found a good tire dealership whose tire rep said he would replace the tires at no charge. This did not fix the problem. So to save time and money, I went to a Red Deer Hyundai dealership (only 45 minutes away) and for the last four months, they have been trying to resolve it. I now have new motor mounts, new wheel bearings, two new axles and when that didnt work, they tried the transmission! When they opened it, it was all rusted and there were two rocks inside? They were baffled but figured a new transmission would fix it. It did not! So here I am today with my unsatisfactory car and an empty wallet! What do I do next? The dealership is at a loss and Hyundai Canada just keeps calling the dealership relaying the information I already know! I have had to take numerous days off work and so much fuel to travel back and forth to the dealership. Someone please help me! I would sell the vehicle but who would buy a vehicle that vibrates. Im so stuck and it makes me sick that I spent this kind of money and have horrible results.
My experience with Hyundai is once again worst than the last. It is my 3rd disappointment with them and last, I just came out of a 3 year lease and decided I wanted to buy the car and instead of showing me my options through Hyundai Finance which I was leasing with they convinced me with lies about how being I didnt use the car much, I would have to pay more and convinced me to go with Chase auto loan, after a few days I called Hyundai Finance and the person on the phone told me, I should have bought through them which would have been close to 8k less, through Hyundai finance it would have ranged around 9k plus maybe 3k in taxes and instead now I will end up paying close to 18k.It is my 3rd and final deal with them, no one there is honest and they are out just to rob you, I should have gone with my gut and listened to my cousin and end my lease and bought through Carvana, I wish I knew the info I got from the person on the phone earlier but I thought I was dealing with honest people, anyways God bless them and everyone reading this and make sure you always ask all the right questions and if you have to take time or reschedule to review things before you commit to it or sign documents, do so, so you dont get trapped and tricked like I did.
After having a 2016 Hyundai Veloster and having issues with oil consumption we are being told that due to sludge in the motor and supposedly we are needing a new motor that warranty will not cover a replacement and we are expected to be out of pocket $9400. This is absolutely ridiculous and was told by Consumer Affairs that there was no number for corporate who made the final decision to decline our case. Very unprofessional and no way to do business! This is the true definition of loophole! The car is still under the 100,000 or 10 year warranty!! I will be pursuing other resources and what I have to do about this! The ball was dropped and Hyundai doesnt care. They found a way out of doing the warranty work!
I was in a head-on collision in my 2004 Hyundai Elantra. I had my seat belt on, and I was the driver. My air bag light came on, but my air bag did not release. I suffered a great amount of pain, because my knees hit the steering wheel very hard.
I had an oil leak at 40,978 miles only. Owned and well-maintained, I was told it was a bad crank shaft. I will need a new motor, but they will not cover it, saying there was a sludge under the valve cover. The first mechanic (not Hyundai) said it was very clean. I am waiting now for 5 weeks for a resolution.
I would Strongly recommend not to buy Hyundai car, Especially PUSH BUTTON start. I am having I20 and facing a lot of trouble with the push button system. The car doesnt starts for hours. You will have to wait in traffic for hours to start the car again if turned off on lights. Very poor after sale service. Hyundai doesnt have solution to this problem yet. I have been struggling from past 2 years. The attitude of Hyundai Service Managers is very irresponsible. Faced a lot of harassment. In-fact being a loyal Hyundai customer from past 10 years I would rate 0.01 out of 5. No Initiatives, no responses from Hyundai in this regard. I repeat NEVER BUY HYUNDAI PUSH BUTTON CARS. I have the car since 2012 and have never had a problem except for a battery but that was to be expected. I looked for a long time and checked out many dealerships to make sure I was getting exactly what I wanted. All cars should have back up camera standard. I like the warranty. My SUV is covered bumper to bumper for 100000 miles or 10 yrs whichever comes first. This is why I bought this vehicle so that I should not have any problems. I wanted to make this the last vehicle I buy and so far it is small yet has plenty of room for boxes, my dogs and even people. It seats five people comfortable. I love it.
I bought a 2011 Elantra limited brand new. I am getting on average 22 mpg, summer and now winter. City is 19 and highway is 23 mpg. Im waiting to see Hyundais response on this. I have my 3rd visit to the dealership next week. I saw where Honda got in big trouble for misrepresenting mileage (should be around 40 highway, 33 combined).
In March, we had an engine issue with our 2015 Sonata that has less than 8000 miles... It started with the clicking sounds that we hear whenever we hit the accelerator. We brought it to a local dealer. They took 2 weeks to fix the issue. When I asked about if it was all fixed and all was good to go, the dealer said yes and that we shouldnt have any future issues with it. Within 4 days from picking up the fixed car, we start hearing the clicking sound again. We brought it back to the same local dealer to be fixed. Within 3 days of dropping off the car, we received a phone call from the regional manufacturer representative to ask about our vehicle and if the car was repaired. I let her know that we actually had to bring back the vehicle for the same issue just days before she called. She gave me her number and said that she would get back to me within 24 hours with an answer to whats going to happen next. I dont hear from her... Feeling frustrated, I call her to find out whats going on. Since she told me to get in touch with her rather than the dealer, I trusted her and only called her to find out whats going on. I never hear from her... In the meantime, my husband calls their Korean Customer service number to make the complains and only told to speak with the representative who is not returning our calls. She is the one who can make anything happen. WHAT??? We even tried to call different customer service numbers but we are told that she is the one we need to speak to and no one else. Finally after dropping the car off 3 weeks prior, we receive a call from the dealer that the engineer from manufacturer came out to inspect our car and that the entire engine needed to be taken apart to see what is wrong with it. It took 2 days for this engineer to inspect it but no real answers to what is the actual issue. I finally took time off from work to go to the dealer to inspect the car and everything under the hood is taken apart and they said that it will take days to put everything back and repair the issues. While at the dealer, we manage to speak with the Service Manager who said that the manufacturer went cheap way out the first time we brought the car out and they are very interested in our car because for a new car, it is having some engine issue that they cant pinpoint too. He also said that the representative advised him that she has been in contact with us so he doesnt need to call us.Feeling disappointed and frustrated with whats happening with our new car. We tried to get in touch with the regional representative. To this day, we havent been able to speak with her and the car is fixed but the engine makes a lot of noise for a new car especially compared to my dads car that has over 200,000 miles on it and we are just disappointed with our whole experience with this dealer and the manufacturer. We cant wait to return this car when its lease expires in 2 years. Never will I ever buy another Hyundai vehicle. There are reasons why people said never buy Hyundai. Shouldve listened to them.
2012 Accent - My air con quit. Had 2 different mechanics look at it. Both recharged the AC and it still did not work. 2nd mechanic told me the problem is a control module in the computer and if the car is less than 5 years old and mileage under 100 k the problem is fixed under warranty. Called Hyundai. They checked my VIN. It was originally put on the road April 25, 2012... Is the computer programmed to fail just after warranty? It probably was not working then, however not a time of year I would use. Have been told 800 - 1000 to fix???
We purchased a new 2017 Hyundai Sonata. The car is still under warranty. In 2020 my wife called and said the oil light was on. I told her to pull over and check the oil. She said there was no oil on the stick. She added two quarts of oil and it was still below the low mark on the stick. I did research and found several class action lawsuits against Hyundai regarding faulty engines dating back to approx. 2010. Here we are 8 years later and dealing with the same issue. We called our dealership and they said we needed bring in the car for an oil consumption test. They changed the oil and charged us for it. The oil consumption test consist of returning to the dealership every thousand miles for 3000 miles so they can check how much oil the engine is using. The final result was the engine burns 3/4 quarts of oil per 1000 miles and that is considered normal by Hyundai.Hyundai recommends changing oil every 7500 miles. This means we will need to add 6 quarts of oil to the car between oil changes. Again this car is under warranty and Hyundai calls this normal. We were told however, Hyundai does sell a $600 product we could add to the oil and perhaps it would consume less oil. The bottom line is I have a car under warranty, using 6 quarts of oil between oil changes and this is normal. My 2006 Chrysler Town and Country has 314,000 miles on it. I change the oil every 7000 miles. I add 1 quart of oil between oil changes.Simply put, do not buy a Hyundai product. Take a look on the internet and you will see a long history of engine issues that continue to plague Hyundai owners. I called Hyundai and talked to Lindsay. She was a snobby customer service rep. who told me I needed to talk to Walser to get anything done to repair this car. So goes the circle. Keep an eye open as I assume there will be another class action suite soon.
Almost got killed in Tucson. Wife and I driving home at 11.30 pm. All electrical cut out on major highway. We got power on after 2 min. WE WERE LUCKY THAT WE DID NOT GET HIT. IT STARTED THIS PROBLEM 2 WEEKS AFTER WE BOUGHT THIS CAR. Have had it in the shop and they say nothing is wrong.
Have a 2013 Azera - there are multiple Azeras up the east coast with engine problems. They all got their long block replaced except mine. Got the short block because they were all out in the US. After dealer having the car over 40 days it is shaking at a stop (almost stalling), scared to drive my kids in the car. Dealer says nothing wrong with it now. Time to get window markers and put a lemon on it so everyone knows Hyundai wont do anything except free oil changes...how terrible!
I have owned three Hyundai cars, all have been new cars under warranty. I have only had to taken them in for mechanical issues less than ten times. I have never been told by a Hyundai service department that if they find that the problem is not a warranty issue, like a rat chewing through a wire, or hitting a curb and knocking something loose, that I will be responsible for paying over $100 for them taking time to look at my car, whether they fix the issue or not. I can understand the cost of fixing the issue, but not the cost of just looking at it. I can understand if I was bring in a 2001 Toyota. But I am bringing in a Hyundai to a Hyundai dealership while under warranty. It is implied that while under warranty the dealership for that brand of car will check your car when it has mechanical issues for free, and if it isnt a warranty issue, charge you for the repairs. I mean they sure do talk up how good having a warranty is when they talk you into buying that 10 year 100,00 mile extended bumper to bumper warranty, but if you want to get it looked at, you better bring $200, just in case the problem isnt under warranty. Because whether they fix it or not you’re paying. This was my experience at North Freeway Hyundai in Houston TX. The service consultant Bruce ** didnt even test drive my car to see if he felt what I was feeling, until he first told me that just to look at my car, I basically need to have the money to pay just in case it isnt a warranty issue.
At Greenway Hyundai, had service advisor Darrell tell me that by turning on my car 1 time, he couldnt get my car to duplicate the hesitation in it starting. Ask me 3 times to explain what is going on with the car. He was making it seem I had NO issues with my car and that I didnt know what I was talking about or why I was even there. Called Hollar Hyundai to set an appointment to get my alternator replaced. Derek said they were booked, but would try at 2pm, but no guarantee they could touch it today, even if I got there, then said that since my mileage is close to the expiration of the warranty of 60,000 (actual miles then was 55,555) that the warranty may not cover it! I paid for a warranty and for them to say Im CLOSE to expiration that they may not cover to replace the alternator of $750.
I am late in updating this review.The Hyundai dealer found issue with rear coupler on inspection. I had to take the SUV back to the dealer a week later as they had to order the parts.The Correction comment states - Replaced 4WD Coupling Assy - listed at $549.50. It was all covered under warranty so I did not have to pay for anything.
Starter of my 2011 Hyundai Sonata went out on August 1, 2012. I work in Oakland so I managed to get it back to Fresno. I took it to Lithia Hyundai Service department. Heath ** was the assigned service advisor. He said they will take a look and get back to me. Well, Lithia replaced the starter and said there was a recall on something regarding the starter. I picked up my car on August 3rd. While driving on August 6th, without warning, smoke started coming from hood area and shortly after a flame. I managed to pull off road to a parking lot where the car died. I immediately called AAA to tow to Lithia. While waiting, I took pictures. Service department was closed so I left in lot until morning. I returned to tell what happened. Heath said they would take a look. He called 20-30 minutes later to tell me engine has hole.Mind you, in returning my car the first time from the starter repair, I was told and given paperwork stating everything else was good. He recommended two tires, an air filter, and front brakes. He assured me everything else was okay. Now one month later, I called to find out whats going on with my car. Heath told me he wants to repair because he can make $7,000. I needed to bring him a receipt of my oil change. I have done that and my car is still sitting in service department at Lithia Hyundai. I called every week but get he hasnt heard from Hyundai yet. I asked him to call me when he does, the pictures hes sending and he didnt comply. He told me it would be done by the afternoon. I went to Lithia and my car was still sitting outside in back of shop. I went back on Saturday and it was on a lift.Heath was not in and no one else could answer my questions. I was told everybody handles their own cases. I returned that Monday and Heath told me he sent pictures and docs. I asked for copy. He refused. He just gave me pictures. I dont know whose car that was from. I have since called every week. He said he has no answer yet. I have been away from work since August 2nd. On August 24th, I lost my job of 18 years. I am not a happy camper. My car is new and has little mileage and it should not have caught fire.
In 2006, I bought a used 2004 Hyundai accent automatic from Thrifty Car rental. I had the car checked through by Hyundai and they confirmed it was in perfect shape. About 6 months ago, shifting became very hard and sometimes the transmission would refuse to shift gear even if I had shifted it with the clutch. Problems got worse. I took it to Hyundai for a diagnostic test and was told it needed a new transmission which would cost $3,000.00. As the car is so old, I opted for a used transmission and took it to a shop where my husband had his transmission replaced. By now, it is 3 transmissions later, 1 computer later and the car has been in the 2nd shop for 2 weeks with a highly recommended transmission expert and it is not working. I sent 2 emails to Hyundai last week and never received an answer. I called today, on 9/23/2011, and after some back and forth, I was told that there is no recall and that they could not help me with the car. In the meantime, I checked online and found a lot of people complaining about transmission issues with exactly that 2004 car. Pages and pages, so there obviously is an issue. My son, who is learning to be a car mechanic and therefore has access to information we normal people do not, also found information on major issues with that years transmission. Yet Hyundai insists, there is no campaign on it, so there is nothing wrong on their end. I have been driving Hyundai since 1996 and loved that car, that is why I bought another one in 2004 but that car is proving to be quite a problem. Hyundai is certainly shattering my opinion of them.
My wife got scammed on a lease at a disgraceful Hyundai dealership in Gurnee, IL (avoid at ALL COSTS). She ending up overpaying by $7,000 on a Kona for no reason. The Kona which she was going to buy outright until they convinced her to lease, should have been $24,445. Its on Hyundais website. She ended up paying over $32,000 before tax on the lease. We complained to Hyundai customer service, but were told that there was nothing they would do to help. As such, we will never be buying a Hyundai again and will be recommending to our friends and family the they avoid them also. Although its not Hyundais fault that my wife got scammed, if they are allowing scammers to sell their product then they are culpable. It is a shame because we previously had a Hyundai and had been happy with it. If they are unwilling to help their customers however then we are unwilling to be their customers.
On Jan. 21, 2014 I purchased a Certified Pre-owned 4 door, 2010 Hyundai Accent GLS from CarMax in Hickory, N.C. I was assured that this was a safe, reliable car, with great gas mileage. I took the car back twice within 3 days because of random noise under the hood but was told it was nothing to worry about. On Jan. 28, 2014 the car was totaled in a snow storm in Marion, N.C. while driving 40-50mph in a 70mph zone when I hit a truck that had already wrecked in my lane of traffic. I tried to slow down but the brakes locked up and I slid into the truck. I hit the truck so hard that it exploded my battery, computer, and radiator on impact and turned off. But NONE of the 6 airbags worked in my new certified pre-owned DEATH TRAP. My head bounced off of the steering wheel and then bounced back to the headrest. I suffered 3 torn ligaments in my neck, whiplash, etc. The foreign P.O.S was supposed to have 2 front, 2 side, and 2 overhead airbags and none worked. I couldve been hurt a lot worse or killed that day having no protection. The seat belt tightened so bad that I had bruising for over a week across my chest and stomach from the seat belt that felt like someone took a ball bat to me. If you have a death-wish, this is the perfect car to buy! CarMax and Hyundai passed the blame of course. CarMax said that it was the manufacturers fault and Hyundai said that it was because I failed to slow down! I asked for a copy of the black box reading results from Hyundais engineering analyzer at Hyundai Motor America in Fountain, Valley, CA and was told that the report was classified information that I could not see! The reading told the real story of why the non-working airbags almost killed me Im sure, but I was not allowed to see. Total BS! I have had to pay over $2500 for a car I drove 7 days. BEWARE! Dont BUY A HYUNDAI!
This is typical for dealerships but theyre not long for this country. I have a senior citizens vehicle in my shop with a faulty block that was faulty from the manufacturer. I attempted simply to very parts through Hyundai and they said, You have to prepay in order to get the parts and two days later they might have the parts in the dealership. The parts for example are pistons, which with the dealership are $90.00 each for a grand total of $400 and change after taxes and other frivolous charges. The exact sane parts coming from Thailand at another place is $90 out the door, including shipping AND you receive at your door the very next day. These people are greedy and worthless. Their products stink! Their service sinks! Their greed is obvious! AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!
I recently called/Hyundai roadside assistance, noticing that it included towing. My vehicle has a flat tire, and at this point I don’t have a ton of extra money. I live 200 feet away from a Firestone tire, a relative helped by purchasing the tire I needed and Firestone said they would install it. All I have to do is get the vehicle or the wheel over there. Well Hyundai Veloster don’t come with a spare tire or jack. So I can’t jack the car up and take the wheel off, this didn’t seem like a problem knowing I had roadside assistance. Well roadside assistance will not hold me across the street where I already have a fully paid tire waiting, they would however bring me to a Hyundai dealer but they are non-local to me. I was told by the tow company that exceptions can be made so I spent time on the phone with Hyundai’s customer service just so that they could tell me no. I can assure you after customer service like this I will never return to Hyundai again. This is a lack of compassion for their consumers, I understand you want me to be brought to a Hyundai dealer so the dealer can make the money on the tire and installation, but in my particular situation you should’ve okayed a tow across the street; don’t buy a Hyundai thinking you have someone there for you when you need it. You don’t.
It appears that were all having the same issues with Hyundais Consumer Affairs department, the local service departments, and worst of all, voiding the consumer warranties at their convenience. Its time to stand up and voice your concerns to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Please make sure you file your complaint with the FTC too by visiting their websites. They need to know about how Hyundai is treating their customers and lying to the public. Please note, I have tried to contact the people at the corporate office and they will only forward your concerns back to consumer affairs. The same people who dont care to resolve your complaint. Go to the FTC website and file your complaint there too!
2014 Hyundai Elantra - Around 74,000 miles my engine started making a ticking noise. It would get quieter as it warmed up. When I took it to the dealership, the mechanic that looked at it said another Elantra engine went bad, this winter took a lot of engines out. We got a lot of bad engines in this winter. Something is wrong with these engines. Then he informed me that I would need a new engine. This was a Hyundai dealership mechanic that stated this. I already knew something was wrong because of the Sonata engine recall and all of the blogs where Elantra engines were going bad between 68 and 75,000 miles. I took better care of this engine than the book called for. But since I was the second owner the warranty had run out at 60,000 miles. When I bought it around 35,000 the engine sounded perfect. And it was a certified car from a car lot. Hyundai says they only warranty certified cars from a Hyundai car lot. Never again will I buy a throwaway car. In my opinion the engine need to be recalled, they know they have an issue. I am currently driving a 2018 Elantra for a week while I get another car. The engine has 2200 miles on it and I can hear the same ticking already, plus it shakes a little coming from the drive train, until it is driven at least 10 miles. The steering tends to get rigid from time to time like I am sliding on some ice.
The vehicle involved in a crash, drivers side Tucson airbag failed to deploy properly causing injuries. The company contacted and four months later nothing resolved, vehicle not inspected yet, no resolution and no other drivers warned of possible failure. Lack of real concern from company or leasing agency. Length of time it is taking them over a safety concern. We are not the type to sue but may be forced to to get them motivated to fix the issue or warn others.
Three weeks ago, I went to the Hyundai dealership in Huntington, NY 11743 (Long Island). I was interested in leasing a 2013 Hyundai Sonata GLS. My salesmen Bob ** had asked me which model I was looking at and I told him the 2013 Hyundai Sonata GLS. Mr. ** brought around a grey and what he said was the GLS. I test drove it and was pleased as to how smooth and quiet it drove, so I then decided to lease one and decided on black with grey interior. I arrived at the dealership and picked up my car. I drove it home and noticed that it was driving not at all as the demo. It was loud and there is a clicking sound coming from under the hood. That same day I called my salesman up, told him and brought it right to him. He claims that he didnt hear anything unusual and what I was experiencing was normal. I asked him why I didnt experience this with the demo and he didnt have an answer for me. Then they scheduled an appointment for me to bring it into service to look at it. It was there all day and they claim nothing was wrong. To make sure I wasnt losing my mind, I test drove another GLS in their lot and that was better than mine. The salesman said it drives the same as mine. I then went to their Hicksville dealership, test drove a GLS and that drove quiet and had no ticking sounds. I went back to Huntington and the sales manager Steve ** listened to the vehicle and claims that he didnt hear anything wrong. I drove the car and the sales manager was in the passenger seat. He refused to drive it and said nothing was wrong and he cant do anything for me even after I told him that I test drove other GLS and they were fine, unlike my car. The sales manager also refused to actually drive my car and see. He said, I am too busy. I am not test driving your car. I then went to the West Islip dealership and explained to them whats going on. A salesman there came out and listened to my car and he heard the ticking sound. He said that is not normal. Even in front of his manager he said he heard the ticking sound. I am so beyond frustrated. Getting a new car is supposed to be enjoyable and all I want to do is cry. Its now three weeks that I have the car. Something is definitely not right. Please help me.
For the price I pay for Blue Link they should give a refund when their system is down. It appears when it is the coldest or in the morning hours the system is out of services. Be aware of this when you pay for the services. They truly stink for taking yearly service contract and not delivering a better product.
I leased a 2017 Hyundai Elantra and was very unhappy with the auto. I contacted the dealer who said they would sell me a 2017 Hyundai Tucson and purchase the Elantra from me, I paid them $4350.00 which took care of early lease return fees, taxes and everything else. This was a purchase and sale. I have all the papers to prove this and tried to explain to them, Hyundai leasing, that I do not owe them anything and, if any monies have to be paid it would be by the Dealer, not me. Now they have reported me delinquent to the credit bureaus and as a result my credit scores have been reduced and as a result this has cost me higher interest fees, etc. I have disputed this with Equifax, Transunion and Experian but not successful. What can I do to rectify this???
DO NOT LEASE FROM HYUNDAI. They have the worst customer service skills. 9+ weeks waiting for a response to get my registration renewal. It’s out since March and is nearly 1st June still nothing from them. Every day for a solid 5 weeks I called. I spoke to so many employees and managers every day. They told me a different lie every time, stay away from these guys. After reading reviews it seems they are known for stuff like this. Also I called the dealer in Norwood MA and they too did not respond to any of my calls. Finally today I received my registration and decal thanks to my insurance company. They requested a duplicate. If anyone else is having the same problem call your insurance company for help. I cannot wait until my lease is up so I never gotta deal with these guys again.
I phoned Hyundai Roadside assist at 8.30 am for my car in my driveway to be towed to my preferred Hyundai dealer which is only 25km away. I was told there is a 3 hour wait, 1 pm came, still no tow truck, I called them & apparently my request had been canceled. So, I have to wait another 3 hours! 4 pm arrived & still no tow truck!!! I then phoned & canceled for today! Hopefully, better luck tomorrow!!! If not, A Current Affair here I come! I tried to contact Customer complaints to NO avail!!!
I bought a new 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT. I was promised 27 city 37 highway. I am barely getting 22 city and 31 highway. My sister bought the same car a month later and is getting the same results. We took the cars in for a Mileage Check and they did a completely fraudulent test with bogus results and basically told us to get lost - there was nothing they could do for us. Details: They made us top the engine and returned our cars having NOT been topped off - hence the faulty results.
On June 2020, I purchased a Palisade 2020 at Lougheed Hyundai. The car was purchased new. I quickly discovered that this car is in fact was damaged during the manufacturing process. Or, this may have been the result of damage incurred by workers at Lougheed Hyundai, which was then covered up. After a few days of having the car, I went to an automatic car cleaning service. After completing the wash, I noticed discoloration on the car body near the wheels (near the back passenger door) because its paint peels off.What bothered me with my experience at Lougheed Hyundai is the terrible customer experience and the general manager doesnt care of the customer. He offered me to repaint that part which is included in the warranty or he can replace that part of my car with a another new car!! So it might have been happened for my car before I purchased it. As a new Hyundai customer this is a very disappointed experience which I never had with different manufacture.
While driving down a busy highway, my engine went out. After having it towed to the local service department I was told it would be two weeks.. 8 weeks later my car is still not fixed and every week they tell me they dont have time to get to it. I can no longer afford a rental and I am in jeopardy of losing my job, I am to travel between three locations and can not possibly do that now. Today I received a recall on my engine, how are they just now sending me that??? I can not believe I am being treated so poorly. How is it that a company can sell you a piece of crap and then give you the run around on getting it fixed..
Ive leased many cars over the years, but never have I had a more negative experience than I had with Hyundai Finance. There was, apparently an end-of-lease termination charge (unrelated to the condition of the vehicle, purely an administrative/profit charge) that was identified in the very small print at the end of my lease agreement. When I turned in the vehicle along with the inspection report that showed no damage and no charges, I inquired whether there was anything owed and was told no, youre good to go.I never received an invoice of any kind from Hyundai indicating that there was a balance due following the termination of my lease agreement (5/31/2018). I was unaware that there was a balance due until my bank notified me that there had been an adverse credit report on Experian. While Hyundai called my home and left several voicemails, they failed to indicate the reason or purpose of their calls and I assumed, since my lease was over and the car had been returned, that they were sales/promotional related calls, similar to the hundreds of other such calls I receive that go unanswered. Hyundai had the capability to take direct draws on my account during the lease period. I received an email communication from Hyundai on May 1, 2018 stating that my financial obligation was complete and that the payment schedule was being deleted at Hyundai’s request.Following return of the lease vehicle, Hyundai shut down access to my online account with them; consequently I could not log-in to see details about any balance due. Although I had previously updated my address of record on the Hyundai Finance website, Hyundai apparently contacted my prior employer and sent notifications to my prior employers address, rather than contact me at my home address. As I was no longer an employee there, my former employer did not act on these communications other than to inform Hyundai Finance that I was no longer an employee.After seeing the adverse entry on my credit report, I contacted Hyundai to inquire what was going on. That is when they suddenly informed me that there was a past due amount. I informed them that I had never received an invoice and was unable to look at my account online because they had closed it and requested that they fax the invoice to me. As soon as I received the invoice, it was paid in-full within 48 hours.The people who I spoke with at Hyundai were rude and unprofessional and completely devoid of any sense of customer service orientation. They didnt care at all that I had never received the invoice. Despite explaining in detail what had happened, they refused to do anything to correct the adverse credit rating report that was fully their own administrative failure! My advice to anyone purchasing or leasing a Hyundai vehicle -- work with your own bank and stay completely away from Hyundai Finance. You will regret ever having established a business relationship with them.
I had a rotten experience with service. My brand new vehicle started to rust in the trunk immediately after I bought it. I took it to service. They identified the problem. They tried to correct it and it didnt work. It took so long that by the time they came up with a solution they told me my warranty was up. They just said, Sorry these things happen and in the end I would never endorse anybody to go to Hyundai Canada with this kind of service and product.
My 2012 Sonata - I have 18,000 miles on my car that I bought last February. I paid $30,000 for the car and I already need 4 new tires. I would not have purchased the car had I known this. The dealership (Washington, PA) said they put junk tires on it to get the best test drive performance. This is unacceptable that I had to spend $500 9 months after spending 30 grand on the car.
I purchased my Accent 2007 brand new off the lot. It is a 5-speed manual shift. I have had extreme brake problems ever since but thats the least of my trouble. Driving to work one night last week, I was moving in traffic and the car just shut off. Luckily, I was able to drift safely to the side of the road I was on. I had to have the car towed to my garage. The next morning, the mechanic called to give me the bad news. My timing belt broke. Okay, I could handle that until he told me the rest... In these cars, when the timing belt breaks, the valves in the motor keep moving and are most likely bent. So I have to pay for the repair and when we try to start it, we will know for sure. I am sick over this. I am on a tight budget and cannot afford a new car at this time. My job is 50 miles one way and I now have no way to get there. Shame on Hyundai for placing such a faulty piece of equipment in their vehicles. I owned a Hyundai Excel years ago and had 200,000 plus miles on it and only ever had to replace a thermostat in it. Had I known how poorly Hyundai is building their cars now, I would have never bought another one. But you can bet that I will never purchase another, nor will anyone in my family. I also work in a big hospital... Thats a lot of potential customers, Hyundai.
I have a 2002 Sante Fe. It was a recall because the back end rotted. I did not know about this, so I took it to my mechanic because the vehicle was not driving right. He called me to tell me that the back end was rotted. He called Hyundai to see if it would be covered under a warranty. They said it was a recall, so they would take care of it. I had it towed at my expense. I had asked if I could get vehicle on loan and they said they dont do that. It was not my fault that this happened, so why do I have to pay out of my pocket when it was a defect on Hyundai? It is going to cost me around $300 for a rental. This is bad customer service. Please let me know if this is the policy. I am being put out because of a problem that Hyundai caused. I am very upset about this. What can you do for me. Thanks for your time in this matter. I do not want to bad mouth your company for bad customer service.
See attached photos! Out of the last 5 years I have owned my Hyundai I have had 4 door handles break and latches on inside to visor mirror & center console break within the first year of owning the vehicle. And I dont have children and never use these doors! It seems these are very cheaply made causing a huge inconvenience! 2 door handles repaired in the past 3 years and now 2 more are broke the same way this last year that have not been repaired. This has become very pricey and unnecessary to have to maintain to have working door handles. I have owned many cars in my life and never had this problem! Why arent these considered recalls??? I feel I should not have to continue to pay for the replacements of the handles and latches! I would like Hyundai to be responsible to repairing these items as they are currently not in working condition! Sincerely, Frustrated Hyundai owner.
Worst service I have ever experienced. I chose this company because it claimed to have the best service, but it turned out to be all a ruse. They disrespect you behind fake smiles and artificial manners. I have owned several cars and dealt with several companies but I have never been treated with such disgrace. All the problems Ive come for are caused by the cheap and weak manufacturing of this car. Not even the cars remote lock lasted more than a few months. This company is crap starting from its products and ending with its disrespectful employees.
I bought my 2011 Sonata SE in April 2010. At about 55K the automatic transmission began shifting harshly. Within about 2 weeks the shifting had become a hard bang and the car was undriveable. The dealer spent three days diagnosing it but were not able to determine the cause. The manufacturer authorized them to replace the transmission. Over the months that followed, usually at highway speeds, the vehicle routinely surged in RPM from 2000 to 5500, but did not surge in speed.Two weeks ago, at 91K, the vehicle began to experience very delayed shifting from 1st/2nd and 2nd/3rd, surging in RPM before each shift so that when the shift occurred the vehicle speed increased excessively creating a jack rabbit start. This week while driving at highway speed the transmission jolted dramatically, the speed dropped, and the RPMs rose. I figured it had gone into limp-home mode. I parked the car, verified that it was in 4th (by placing it in the manual shift position), and called the dealership. I let the vehicle sit for a couple of hours and found that it drove normally. I took it to the dealership where they pulled codes which indicated an incorrect setting for gear ratio at 6th gear. This seemed odd to me since thats all electronically/programmatically determined, and it made me wonder if they had downloaded the most current transmission control module program when they installed the second transmission. They are now installing the third transmission under the 100K Powertrain warranty. I have not yet been notified to pick up the car.I am very concerned for several reasons: (1) The erratic transmission behavior has me afraid to drive the car, especially at highway speeds. (2) I am very concerned that sometime in the next 35K to 55K Im going to have to replace the transmission - and that it may fail due to not being properly programmed or installed. I have not yet heard back from Hyundai Consumer Affairs.
Our 2011 Hyundai Veracruz is at the dealers now. Recalled item was handled previously and failed. However, they say they only fix once - so want us to pay $900+ to have same issue handled. Valve cover gasket allows oil to leak onto alternator, which then fails. Our car is STUCK in Hendersonville because we cant pay for the repair. On our 2011 Hyundai Veracruz: If there was a recall and it had been fixed correctly, the issue should be solved. It is not and the alternator has failed again. There seems to be a manufacturers defect and that is what should be fixed.
The paint on the hood and roof bubbles and peels after 4 years. Hyundai is aware of the problem, there was a class action filed against them. They refuse to cover this repair under warranty. This is clearly a defect, not normal wear and tear. My dealer refused to help, told me to go elsewhere. I would not recommend this car to anyone.
My 2020 Elantra SEL is not even a year old yet, it has 5,000 miles. I brought it in for routine oil change and to get my tail light fixed (btw that broke with no warning after I went through a car wash but anyway). I see there is a recall so I get that checked as well only to find out my car has failed the recall and needs a brand new engine installed. It will take 4-6 weeks MINIMUM. I am going on a long drive in 10 days to visit a sick family member. I need my car. I also need it for work.I am in disbelief that this car is under a year old and needs a brand new engine. That is literally the most insane thing Ive ever heard in my life. I have already been without a car for several days and now I find out I wont have my car for 4-6 weeks?? I will be in a rental. This is causing me an enormous amount of stress and is inconveniencing me beyond belief.Not to mention all this time I have been driving a literal death trap. It could have caught fire at any moment. I am literally trying not to think about that for my own mental health. Imagine if I did not manage to get my car serviced before my long trip and it exploded on the road and killed me or someone I love. I am truly beside myself at how bad of a company Hyundai is. I want them to contact me and let me know how they will make this right. For starters, I expect a reimbursement on my car payment for the time I will not have my car. Why am I paying for something I cant even drive? This is insane.
Very angry with Hyundai Motor America. At the end of February my car had a warning light (the only one ever) Hybrid battery low, stop do not drive. After 2 days hunting for a battery, we replaced the battery only for it to be completely dead. Had it towed to the dealership. They run a diagnostic on it and tell me that it needs a power relay assembly kit replaced. Ok, so we have that replaced. The next day I call and they say, Well we replaced it but your engine is locked up! BULLCRAP! I have been going back and forth for over 2 months with Hyundai Motor America only for them not to stand up to their word!HMA called dealership to have them drop the oil pan and look for metal fragments, well guess what? They found metal fragments in my oil pan. Even knowing that these metal fragments are in there they are still denying my claim and refuse to replace my engine. They say my car is not part of the recall, imagine that! Is anyones car actually in the recall... I am so **! They are worthless liars! Would like to have an attorney to contact us all.
If you are reading this - please do not finance with Hyundai Motor Finance. A year ago, I am leasing a Hyundai Elantra 2013 and the car was a total loss. So my insurance call HMF for the selling amount so they can pay the car off. That was on May 27, 2014. Today is Jun 27, 2014, a month later. My insurance call them so many times and send them the information about the loss four times and HMF still saying every time when I call then that they not received anything. I told them I want to speak with a supervisor and they say that they do not have a supervisor available and they just hang up on me so many times. This company is a joke and have very bad customer service especially in the recovery or claim department. Today is Jun 24, 2014 and they still not giving the selling amount to my insurance. This company is so disrespectful. I will never buy a Hyundai again.
I took out a 2 year lease on a Hyundai Tucson. It was extended to 3 years because of lockdown. The contract mileage was 10000/pa but I returned the car with less than 20000 on the clock. No consideration was given for the reduced mileage. A lot of my friends leased vehicles with other companies but were given discounts for their reduced mileage. This was the only company that I have used who have not made allowances for this. It is the last time that I will ever use them again. Its a shame as I loved the car!!!
In June 2011, I bought a Hyundai Elantra 3-year warranty. I was excited because it is just what I wanted. However, several problems started to occur. First, the indicator switch had to be replaced within the first 2 weeks. Second, after six months, we experienced screeching noises. I took it to a local dealer on various occasions. They replaced the break calliper and brake pads etc. but the noise still persisted. My husband said it was a release bearing but they did not agree. I took it to Johannesburg and after ten days, they agreed that it was the release bearing, which they replaced just before the warranty expired. This process took over a year. Third problem was the indicator switch was faulty again and it had to be replaced again. After the warranty expired, it had a knock in the engine, which they diagnosed as a valve lifter. We paid over R4,000 to have these replaced. The day we collected the car from the garage, there was an explosion, during which, 6 cars were burnt out, fortunately, mine was in the wash bay. There still was a noise in the engine. Two weeks later, when they had a temporary workshop, they gave me a quote for a further R15,000 for replacement of Chain Guide A & B, Timing Chain, Chain Tensioner, Oil Pump etc. The even quoted for replacement of boot latch (very noisy boot) and still have to replace indicator switch.I am so disappointed. Everyone who I have been in contact with regarding the car has admitted that this should not be happening to a car that (at that stage) only had 60000 km on the clock, now R72750. None of the Elantra cars in Kimberley have similar problems. I spoke to a few of the owners personally. All I am asking for is a normal sounding car. I am embarrassed when people ask me why the car is so noisy, even my lady friends who do not have a clue anything about cars, are concerned.I am now waiting for them to repair the car and the parts have been ordered. They cannot carry out the repairs, as they are waiting for a part, which was shipped to SA and is taking forever. It was ordered weeks ago and their words are that it is taking so long because they have never needed to order a part of this nature before. My husband is a pensioner and does not drive like a maniac. He is a very careful driver.I am not a difficult person but I am so disillusioned. I love the Hyundai product and bought an Atos for my daughter years ago. She loves her car and never has any problems. To me, the Elantra we bought was a dud. The outside looks good but it is bad on the inside. I could write a book but am only focusing on the most important. We do not have the funds to buy a new car and we bought the car for R160,000 and the book value is now only R71,000. I implore you to attend to this complaint and not just ignore it. I am sure that if you were in my place you would feel the same. I have spoken to consumer services on numerous occasions but to no avail.
I want to share my bad experience with Freehold Hyundai. I wanted to buy a Sonata. When I contacted them, their salesman Frank quoted a figure which was as per our budget, so we decided to visit them. Antony was the salesman who attended us. I must say he was a good salesman. But when it came to quoting the final figures, he again and again went to his manager Pete **. The figures which they quoted were much higher than what they had initially quoted and we were surprised to hear them. I dont know why they called us to waste our time when we had clearly told them our budget in the beginning. Finally, Pete ** called me inside his cabin (Antony asked my wife to stay out). Pete was such a rude sales manager. I really pity people who hired him. He cracked some jokes, which were personal, and I didnt like them at all. I dont know how he could speak in such a manner to his customers. Very rude, ill-mannered and a guy with attitude problem. He doesnt deserve to be a manager at all. His customer handling is so poor that I dont know how he is running this dealership. In my life, I have never met such an ill-mannered sales manager! There was another salesman in Petes cabin, who was laughing on all this. I felt so insulted. These people are so unprofessional. Pete didnt even offer me a seat to sit. He was sitting in front of me as if he was my boss. I think a roadside vendor has better sales/customer handling skills than Pete.When I showed my displeasure on all this, Pete tried to make the deal. How could he even think I will ever do business with him or recommend his dealership to anyone? This guy is so insensitive about his customers. I am giving this rating for poor customer handling, wrong price commitments and for the insult I faced there.
Since owning my 2013 Hyundai Sonata, I have had a number of recalls (or as the company likes to call them, ‘campaigns’). The most recent includes FOUR recalls. I took time off of work to get the recalls addressed, and yet, I still keep receiving notices that I need to take the car back in for the same recalls that I got taken care of. When you call customer service all you get is the run around or told that you are being “hostile” when they question you about where the emails are coming from and you tell them you have full command of the English language or “talking over them”. I still can’t use my phone’s bluetooth as the company never updated their system with the newer phones. My navigation system doesn’t know half of the addresses I put in, and the car only has 44,000 miles in 6 years. In addition, I constantly have to put air in my right front tire, regardless of the weather. Now I have to go back because the dealer disengaged the heated seats so I can’t even trade it in until they fix their mistake, and that was after the dealer tried telling me that the recalls had nothing to do with the heated seats (which they then had to reverse course on as the tech had to disconnect the heated seat wires to put the airbag harness on). Hyundai claims in their ads that they make ‘better’ cars. Better for who? Because it DEFINITELY isn’t better or safer for the consumer. I feel that is a misrepresentation of the truth. Save yourself and your wallet! Don’t even look bother. There are other more reputable companies from which to choose from. Honestly, I think the federal government needs to look into the safety of Hyundai’s vehicles.
2013 Elantra GT - Defective CONTACT ASSEMBLY-CLOCK-SPRING Replacement Part # 93490-1W120. This is a BIGGIE! This item is called a clock-spring and is poorly designed and poorly manufactured and WILL fail at any given time. Its failure can be either constant or intermittent. You can start the car and all the idiot lights go out as designed, then turn the steering wheel in any direction and two things occur: 1. It illuminates the small SRS idiot light on the dash and, 2. Completely DISABLES your SRS system which means NO AIRBAG protection or any other protection on the SRS circuit! This puts you and your family at risk of death or serious injury should the device fail.Hyundai has several other campaigns in regards to this clock-spring HOWEVER not all models and VINs are covered despite the continuing failure of these devices such as mine. Hyundai will not cover this CRITICAL SAFETY device and you must pay all parts and labor to bring your 4 year old car back to being a safe vehicle as originally purchased. John at Hyundai Corporate attempted to get my repair covered but failed...Hyundai simply does not care about your safety or mine unless they are forced by the government. Look at how they tried to overstate MPG of vehicles...I STILL get money from them for lying to me about their gas mileage on this vehicle! All this is verifiable, just Google and read the number of complaints! Why should they not be held accountable for their poor choices and decisions when we hold other manufacturers such as Airbag mfrs., baby furniture mfrs, dresser furniture, other car mfrs. accountable.My repair was $271.84 + tax but instead Hyundai opted for a NHTSA complaint, several bad reviews, a visit to the FTC website for a complaint, and a campaign of my own to inform the public of this shameful company and their below standard engineering and manufacturing. They designed a CRITICAL SAFETY SYSTEM with a HIGH FAILURE PART with an original warranty of 60K miles that puts your life in danger...even Takata didnt get away with that at ANY MILEAGE! AND...their replacement part, OEM replacement part, only good for 12 months or 12,000 miles! Even THEY dont trust the part. TERRIBLE design!
Over 30 days my 2014 model i30 with 25.000 km EPS unit couldnt be replaced and its still in the service. I basically cant drive a car which I paid to. Moreover I wouldnt like to discuss about the security issue of this part as I was driving, the wheel went off, wouldnt even turn. Thank god that I was driving in an easy road with a low speed so I had chance to park my car within a safe zone. I even wouldnt like to imagine what would happen if this problem would occur on the highway. Hyundai Turkey is behaving premature to handle the case. In this century I am not able to understand why the required part can not be delivered within 30 days while there are people touring around the world with bicycles or on foot less than 30 days. As a result of all, I dont have any other chances but to go to legal court to claim my rights and never ever touch anything called Hyundai.
I have a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. Im persistent with maintenance and was relocating from Wisconsin to Nevada for work, thinking my car only has 40,000 miles so it shouldn’t have any major problems on the way there. Well, get 1000 miles away to Tulsa and the engine completely blew. I was stuck there for 9 days which caused my boyfriend and I to dwindle our savings by $1200 to cover my hotel and food cost. The repair was covered under warranty because there was absolutely no sludge in the engine when it was taken apart and turns out there were several recall parts IN THE ENGINE that needed to be replaced. Well, we finally make it to Las Vegas and I try to file a trip interruption claim and the people at Hyundai told me what to fax to them...so I did and spent $12.00 at UPS to do so. I waited a week and get a call saying that I have to MAIL my documents to the roadside people first before Hyundai will consider the charges. Welp, did that and 2 weeks later, I call roadside and they tell me it takes SEVEN WEEKS TO REVIEW and they can’t see anything in the system until it’s finished being reviewed. So I finally give them the 7 weeks and call in, still not in the system so I was given a fax # to send everything in. 2 weeks later, they approved 300$ because thats their max allowable and Id need to go through Hyundai for the remainder. So... I call Hyundai since they have ALL the documents I sent previously. The girl I talked to assured me it should only take 3 days because I had my case reviewed previously and they just needed the response from roadside to approve it. So... I wait the 3 days, call back and the reviewer still hasn’t even touched my account. 2 weeks and 3 messages to the examiner later - still nothing. So I’m told itll be escalated to his manager and I’ll hear back within a day. Did I? Nope. Talked to a rep this morning who discussed my account with his lead and they both agreed its inexcusable for the examiner to be avoiding my case all together. I will NEVER buy another Hyundai again... my parents and sister both just recently went car shopping and were both considering Hyundais until I went through this...so they just lost 2 customers. Im at my very last straw with them. Theres no reason my engine should have blown at 40,000 miles now theyre just evading paying me back the money that is owed to me.
I purchased my 2016 Tucson on 1/18/2016. For the first few weeks it was a dream. It did not take it long til my car would not back out of my garage even though it was in reverse. I finally got it to move backwards after being in reverse for 15 minutes. I called the service department and they told me to bring it in and let them check it out. I did as I was asked and they said they had put it on the computer and there were no problems found. They had a service rep. drive it and it shifted just fine.Fast forward to 2/4/2016, I was sitting at a traffic light and when the light turned green, I gave the car gas and it just sat there. I was stuck for about 20 minutes before it started moving forward. (The people behind me were not nice.) When it did move forward, it just crept. Then it lunged forward almost making me hit the car in front of me. I once again took my car into the dealership and they gave me a rental so they could once again “check out my problem.” Once again, they could not make my car duplicate what it did with me. They said they had not heard of this problem before.I am handicapped and not able to drive myself very often. In the next four months, the same problem appeared when 4 other people were driving my car. I had to make 2 trips to the doctor in New Orleans and prayed that we would not have any trouble. Too much to ask!! Had the same problems in New Orleans. I have over 5,000 miles on my car of which are about 3,000 mine. The rest were put on with the Service Department driving it. I left my car again on 7/14/2016. Today is 7/31/2016 and they still have my car. I told them I did not want it back until it was fixed. They gave me a rental car that I can hardly get out of due to my disability. I am to pick up a SUV tomorrow. Corporate called me and asked me to explain to them what was happening and I did. This was on 7/20/2016 and they told me they would get back in touch with me within 3-4 working days. I have not heard from them. I have to have to make notes each month and have no car. BUYER BEWARE!!!
I bought a 2007 Hyundai Elantra in 2012. In 2013 I started having problems with getting the car to start. I took it to the dealership and was told I needed to have the Immobilizer Module fixed. I paid $400 to have them replaced and I was told I would have to wait for the little security symbol to appear on the dash before turning the key so the car would start. Even months after having this fixed it would still not start even after waiting for the stupid symbol to appear. It would take several tries. Then a few months later one of my back passenger door handles broke and you couldnt open the door. Fine, whatever... no one ever sits in the backseat anyway. Then the A/C died and I wasnt paying to have that fixed. Then in July 2015 I am driving down the freeway and I felt a thud and thought I had run over something. I looked in the rear view mirror but there was nothing on the road. I got to my destination and when I restarted the car, the engine light was on. I really didnt want to take it to the dealership so I took it to a mechanic and he scanned it and a code for the Shift Solenoid came up. He suggested I take it to this transmission specialist place. I ended up paying $1000 to have the Shift Solenoids replaced. A week later, Im driving and feel that thud again. Back to the transmission place. They tell me that it could be something internal with the transmission. Nice to know after I just dropped $1000 on this piece of **. I finally take it to Hyundai and leave it with them for the day. The service guy calls me and gives me a list as long as my arm of things wrong with the car... one being that the transmission is failing and the Immobilizer Module that I had fixed in 2013 needs replaced. In total, it was going to cost $5000 to fix all that was wrong with the car. EFF THAT. I went and bought a new car and it wasnt a Hyundai.
Hi, just wanted to share with experience Ive had with Hyundai. I have encountered several issues with my Equus, both with the 2011 and the 2014 models. With the 2011, it was serviced a multitude of times, concluding with the installment of a new compressor. However, the cooling (or lack thereof) issue still remained. When that lease ended, I was assured that the A/C issues with the Equus had been rectified. In good faith, I leased a new 2014 Equus, and much to my dismay, the A/C issues were NOT resolved! So, here I am, AGAIN, in the same exact predicament! Hyundai insists on continuing to deny this problem exists and continues to market inferior products. Any consumer can read the blogs on the internet and clearly see that there is a definite A/C problem with the Hyundai models, including the Equus! Hyundai is lessening their credibility in continuing to deny this issue exists! Hyundai needs to step up to the plate and stop denying that they do not have an A/C problem with this vehicle. They MUST do the right thing. Otherwise, their reputation will be at stake. Recurring customers like me will no longer return, and unfortunately for Hyundai, we will tell others about the poor service and callous treatment we received and of our negative experience.
There has been problems with the suspension on this 2007 Santa Fe since 2010 with very low mileage. It took 5 to 6 visits before the dealer would even admit a problem. Problems with tie rods, lower arm assembly, stabilizer links, lateral arms bilaterally with no resolution of clunking metal to metal sound from front of vehicle. Now that the car is out of warranty supposedly, the dealer conveniently finds the lower arm on the right needs replaced. Hyundai needs to admit to widespread suspension problems without dragging on until out of warranty. I still have 100,000 mile warranty with only 80,600 miles but supposedly, this is not a covered service even though it all started at 48,000 miles.
2011 Sonata is a Bright Yellow Lemon. Worst car I have ever owned. Constantly needing service and engine had to be replaced at 85K. My wife wont drive the car because she doesnt trust driving with kids in car. It is literally falling apart and every day there seems to be a new issue or a recall. As I write this review I am waiting for my car to be towed because yet again...it wont start.
Updated on 02/25/2018: I purchased a use Hyundai Tucson at 22k miles. I owned it 1.5 years and has engine failure at 59k miles. Hyundai refused to do anything and have left me stranded making monthly payments. I have since created a Facebook group dedicated to the Hyundai Tucson Theta-II Engine Failure and have found over 200 people with the same problem and story as I do. I will never purchase another Hyundai.Original Review: Hyundai is a horrible company. I purchased my 2012 Tucson as a second owner. I had the vehicle 1.5 years before the engine failed. Because I was a second owner, Hyundai refused to help. I was 6 months out of the time warranty of 5 years or 60k miles.
On two occasions during the past three months the battery in my 2011 Sonata Hybrid with 31000 miles has had to be jumpstarted by AAA. After the last incident last week I took the car to the dealer where the car was purchased and the battery was shown to be in perfect condition. I was told that if the dead battery problem occurs again, I should not jump-start the car, but have the car towed in to the dealer for diagnosis. Obviously an electrical problem exists, and towing the car to a Hyundai dealer will obviously be a problem, particularly if I am out of town on a weekend. I dont believe that I should have to bear the cost of travel to my home or hotel costs because of a problem due to a Hyundai fault. Because of this problem, I cannot risk travelling out of town. Please give me some advice to deal with my dilemma. Apart from the MPG issue which I have accepted, THIS is a SAFETY matter that requires a response.
