2025 GMC Canyon

Find big savings on GMC Automobile(s) at Auto Helpers. Low Prices.

The 2025 GMC Canyon is a refined midsize pickup available exclusively in Crew Cab, short‑bed configuration, with a single powerful engine and a range of capable trims.

All models use the TurboMax 2.7 L inline‑4 engine producing 310 hp and 430 lb‑ft, paired with an 8‑speed automatic transmission. Rear‑wheel drive is standard on Elevation, while AT4 and Denali feature standard 4WD.

Towing capacity is up to 7,700 lb on most trims (Elevation, AT4, Denali) and drops to 6,000 lb for AT4 equipped with the AT4X or AEV off‑road package.  Payload ranges from 1,670 lb (Elevation 2WD) down to 1,260 lb for the lifted AT4X package.

Standard suspension includes a factory lift and wider track. The AT4 adds off-road hardware like an auto 2-speed transfer case and selectable Terrain modes. The AT4X package (and AEV Edition) expands on this with a 3‑inch lift, locking front/rear diffs, underbody cameras, Multimatic DSSV dampers, and up to 12.2‑in ground clearance.

Cabin and features: the truck seats five in a comfortable crew-cab setup. Interior highlights include an 11.3‑inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and Google built‑in, digital gauge cluster (up to 11″ on Denali/AT4X), premium materials on higher trims, corner‑step bumper, sealed tailgate compartment, and optional spray‑in liner and power outlets.

Fuel economy for the RWD Elevation sits around 20 mpg, dropping to roughly 18–19 mpg AWD and 16–17 mpg for AT4X or AEV models.

Real‑world feedback: Owners like the smooth ride, poised handling, and upscale interior—especially in Denali—though some note the rear seats are cramped and materials aren’t premium. Early reliability issues in 2023 have been largely addressed in 2025.

Trim lineup and approximate U.S. MSRP:

Elevation: ≈ US $38 400 (RWD) / ≈ $41 700 (4WD)

AT4: ≈ $45 700

Denali: ≈ $52 000

The AT4X package adds ≈ $6 700, and the AEV Edition can add ≈ $10 100 on top.

In summary: the 2025 Canyon delivers powerful torque, strong towing and payload capacity, and versatile off-road trims. The AT4X and AEV editions stand out for serious trail use. It's spacious, tech-rich, and refined, though rear-seat room is modest and heavy off-road versions compromise some payload and mpg. Let me know if you'd like a deeper dive into AT4X vs Denali or Canadian pricing.

We purchased a used 2008 GMC Acadia from Carl Black in Roswell, GA. At 60,000 miles, transmission had to be rebuilt. At 97,000 miles Solenoid valve and transmission control module assembly replaced. Carl Black tried to rip me off. Originally quoted $1800 to repair. After I told them I was taking car to my trusted mechanic, repair went to $400. I was still ripped off as I signed pages of warranty receipts when I picked up car. Now less than a year later, Stabilitrak light is on. Car only has 108,000 miles. This is the third major repair in three years. I am through with GMC and Carl Black forever. Almost forgot, sunroof leaks.

I purchased a 2008 Acadia on February 28, 2013. We love the body style and room in it. However it has been nothing but a thorn in our side. It had 58k miles on it when we got it. Just 10k miles and 4 months later we had to put a transmission in. Weve also replaced the alternator, power steering pump, water pump and now we just had another transmission replaced in December (Merry Christmas to me). Not to mention the latest problem needed... a new rack and pinion. I’m not driving mountains or pulling anything with my Acadia. I dont even have a hitch. So its not like Im putting major wear and tear on the car. Ive talked to GM several times and sent numerous letters. Their response was basically Im responsible for buying the piece of junk they rolled off the line. When does GM become responsible for what they are producing? This is their product and they should stand behind it. I will never buy another GM product. My 2005 Ford Escape with 213k miles has been the car that got me through while my Acadia was being repaired.

I purchased my 2008 GMC Acadia in January of 2012. I loved this vehicle because of the features, space, and overall I thought I could trust GMC. Plus, I was expecting my first baby and thought this would be a great family vehicle. I never noticed that my car charger did not work, thought it was the charger but after 4 of them it turns out it was the truck! The dealership did not want to fix it. Then I noticed there was a noise in the tires, dealership wanted to charge just to look at it. Then, the windows wouldnt go down, now, the darn thing wont start! When I am driving, the truck wont go! This is so darn dangerous and GMC tells me I have to fix it myself because they are not responsible. My truck wont start and its the gas pump that was defective from the get go. I will NEVER buy GMC again. They need to take responsibility for the garbage they sold.

13 GMC Acadia Denali - The only issue I had in the 2 years and 51,000 miles was service side impact sensor. Im very happy with my truck and like the drive, ride and handling. I heard about issues on the earlier models but I could not be happier with mine. My previous truck was a 07 Yukon Denali. That was a great truck. I traded on a new Acadia since it was 50k instead of mid-60s. Both are good trucks. Love the power of the V8. Like the mpg on the V6.

I thought for sure I had not only a beautifully used (with 2 normal previous owners) Acadia. Mint condition. My kids and I finally felt like we were moving up. The coils were replaced, drive shaft per recall was replaced and now all of a sudden car is dead due to engine and timing chain. 2009 GMC Acadia gave me false hope. Still have two years left of payments and I have no idea how I am going to afford to get my car out of the shop now. Am contemplating on getting an attorney.

I have loved the 2017 GMC Acadia. I had a wonderful experience so far. It drives very smooth, it has a ton of space to fit my family, and has a luxurious feel to it. We have 5 kids, three of which are teens. They require a lot of space for all of their activities and this car provides me with the space to fit everything. We also travel a great deal so space is important. A couple of the accessories pop out every now and again so that could be better. One of the air vents falls down occasionally, as well as one of the rivets on the headrest, but they pop back in. Other than that, we have put a ton of miles on the car and the only problem we have had is that we need to change the tires.

My parents bought a used 08 Acadia SLT in the spring of 2010 and worked pretty well up until now. But ever since we got it, nobody can figure out why the tire pressure sensors give the wrong indicators for the wrong tires. For example, if the front passenger was low, it would indicated the rear driver is low. Over the summer, we were driving home from Michigan to New York and about 30 minutes into the trip, the radio just cut out. Now, it sometimes works and sometimes doesnt but it only seems to come on in very low temperatures. It worked for about 15 minutes this morning and then cut out. From what Ive found, its something with the amplifier. Ours has the Bose sound system and my mom does blast her music sometimes. I dont know if the amp is fried or if its a fuse in the amp or something and speaking of fuses, Id love to meet the moron who decided where one of the fuse boxes went. They placed it under the glove box where its hard to reach. Why couldnt they just put them in with the other fuses under the damn hood?!I wouldnt spend money on one of these pieces of garbage. You would be better off buying something else. Also, the traction on these things sucks. You just barely touch the gas and it spins your tires. Driving the FWD models is like driving a giant sled. I have a 2005 Mini Cooper and its like a tank in the snow and I have all season tires on that thing.

2011 GMC Acadia 49000 miles, water pump went out. Noticeable loose transmission gear issues, i.e., parked on a decline, driver puts into reverse gear and vehicle rolls forward two to three feet. This also happens when on an incline too. Plus, long period to wait for transmission to change from one gear to the next, such as from park to reverse and reverse to drive. After the water pump had been replaced, cars frame is noticeably creaking when going around corners/turns.

Bought a new 2014 Acadia Denali - almost $60K. After 8 months, the driver’s seat started making a Clicking noise when I shifted my weight slightly. It was loud and often enough that passengers asked what that noise was. Called the dealer I bought it from, but they were booked up for a week. Took it to another dealer and explained the problem. He said it was the seat tracks and that it was a very common complaint. He could replace the tracks, but that I would be back in three months with the same complaint. Since it was a warranty issue, I told him to order several sets because I would expect them to be replaced. He told me that he would only replace them once, and that I should go back to the dealer that I bought the truck from as he was not about to use up his warranty allocation on me. GM does everything in their power to sell you a vehicle. However, they fall short on support and service. After owning 3 GM vehicles in the past, this will be my last GM product.

I purchased a new 2011 GMC Acadia and three years (38,500 miles) after driving, I was advised by my local dealer that there was a leak in the rack and pinion, and on the steering wheel gear. The cost to repair these was quoted at no less than $1,500. Fortunately, the dealer agreed to perform repairs on goodwill. I was not aware that these were a common issue with Acadias. During the time Ive owned it, I have had to repair electrical wiring on the passenger window as it wouldnt always roll up/down. I have also noticed that when driving on the freeway it slows down/cranks up when shifting gears. I am very disappointed in having to deal with these issues when I still have a note for the vehicle. I contacted GMC directly and posed a few questions which they werent able to answer. 1. What is the guarantee on repairs made? A. No guarantee. 2. What is the average repair cost to own an Acadia? A. They dont have that information. 3. How reliable are Acadias? A. Very reliable vehicle. When I asked if they were aware of low reliability rating on Kelley Blue Book and Edmunds, their response was that they were not aware of that. After my phone call I have decided to sell my Acadia because I deem it unsafe and unreliable and obviously, GMC doesnt stand by its product. Never looking back to GMC.

I bought a 2008 Acadia a few years ago. I will never buy another GMC. When we first brought it home it had to go back so the whole rear end clutch system could be replaced. Then they said the tires had to be the same tread so the stabilitrak light would stay off and it still comes on all the time, and says service brake system until I add brake fluid then light goes off for a while. It makes a loud grinding noise on left turns and the dealership dont know why. Seems to me they dont have anyone that can figure out these Acadias and then I had no power steering and the power steering pump had to be replaced and when I picked it up from shop the shocks and struts broke. They told me the seals gave way after being on lift for six and half hours so I got stuck paying 600 for that. Now it keeps telling me transmission over heating let idle. And when I get gas it dont wanna start. I just give up and will be trying to trade in very soon.

I bought my 2010 Acadia in 2013 when I found out I was having our third child. It has 34000 miles and I bought the GM 100000 extended warranty. I did not get the walk through bucket seats because I went for price. I got a great deal on a base model (1st worst decision). The seating is horrible and third row is basically impossible to get to when other kids are in the second row in car seats and boosters. And LOTS of crud and junk gets stuck in the seat sliders on the floor board.Anyways, my problems started with the steering rack. As someone stated above, a swooshing noise with turning the wheel. Luckily my warranty covered it after I went back to the dealer a few times. But the noise is still there! Now, a noise in the front end started early in the mornings as small accelerations such as in traffic. Dealer says we can check out or wait for it to escalate. Well in the last week it has escalated to the point I feel its unsafe to drive. It is going in the shop tomorrow!

Bought a 2009 GMC ACADIA in 2008 for 42,000. I took it in dozens of times starting at under 5000 miles for loud idling, banging sounds, sludged engine, steering loss, drastically dropped fuel economy, etc. Given one excuse after another claiming oil not changed enough despite receipts proven I had. GMC claimed I had never brought it in for oil changes there. They also claimed they had no record of several of the times I brought it in to them while on warranty. I produced receipts from the dealers service department that showed I had. Every time I brought it in they claimed they could not hear probs, couldnt recreate the steering etc. Right after the warranty expire the same service manager who had said probably 5 times he couldnt hear the prob or recreate the steering issue says as he drove it back Do you know your steering is out and sounds like your engines going to need to be replaced? Fast forward years later and they finally did a recall on the steering so that is fixed. The transmission is now on a 120,000 mile extended warranty. They it out to avoid another recall - Timing Chain recall that if you try to have down they claim it has been done even though no record. I take it to another dealer and he says flat out GMC refuses to replace the failed engines that are failing in all these models. Funny I guess we all didnt do our oil right huh? Im ready for a class action suit. Contact me to join. The steering, timing chain and transmission recalls and extended warranties are all because of class action suits. Lets do this people. They cant keep selling expensive pieces of junk to good honest hard working American families.

2008 GMC Acadia SLT-2 - I purchased this vehicle a few years ago and absolutely loved it. The timing when the warranty expired and the problems began was very coincidental! Power steering went at 70K miles - had to replace the pump and rack and pinion. The low tire pressure lights keep coming on as well as the check engine light. Now, when stopped at a light, the vehicle feels as though it wants to charge forward and the RPMs run wild. A few times Ive been in the car with my children where it stopped running or wouldnt start and let out a loud noise when I tried to start it. I am a single mom and unfortunately cannot afford these repairs let alone a new car!!! Ive had other problems with the moonroof leaking into the overhead lighting as well. I never thought a car with the price tag that the Acadia comes with would have so many (expensive) issues and so little support from GMC. I currently only have 82K miles on the car, which isnt really that high!

2012 GMC Acadia Denali - I went into the GMC dealer to purchase a Yukon Hybrid. I was told that they were discontinued for the 2013 model year and was recommended to look at an Acadia Denali because it had more room than a Yukon and got much better gas mileage. Boy what a mistake! I had also been entertaining the idea of a Yukon XL (think Suburban) because I wanted to make sure I had plenty of room for my growing family. I was led down a path of cost savings on fuel with the Acadia. It was posted 22 HWY and 17 City. With our mixed driving, I expected to get on the worst day - maybe 17. Instead I get 13 MPG! They tell me nothing is wrong! Please! I rent Suburbans when I travel (I rent about 100 times a year!) and I consistently get 15 MPG or better - with so much extra room! Now I am stuck with another 30 payments for this lemon.

We bought our Acadia in the summer of 2017. Within 2 weeks of owning it we had to take it to the shop for motor and catalytic converter issues. Long story short, we have now owned the car for two years and have only been able to drive it/ have it parked in our driveway for 6 months. Those 6 months arent even consecutive, more like the weeks in between shop visits. During those visits numerous motors were put into the car along with new parts to whatever they could see needing fixed. At first we thought it was the shop doing a bad job but after the THIRD shop we visited, it became clear to us it is something with the car and not us. Every mechanic we have talked too says the motor for the Acadia and a couple other GMC/Chev models just don’t last past 32,000 miles. We cant even get rid of the vehicle due to the never ending check engine light and its constant engine light led to it failing inspection making the car undrivable (eventually we did get a passed inspection). Our last visit had the car pulling up 19 error readings, most involving the Transmission and Motor. There is no end to the problems on this vehicle and we have barley driven it.

We own a 2010 GMC top of the line Acadia with only 45000km on it, its two owner car (87 year old man gave to his daughter). Its never towed anything and has had regular maintenance. I was taking the Acadia on Oct 22/16 over to my mechanics to have him check the urgency of repair needed for the power steering seals (they are bleeding which seems to be a very common problem for the Acadia). Upon driving the mere 4 miles to his business the vehicle started accelerating on its own. On a level surface it was actually increasing speed and required constant braking to maintain speed. Upon putting the car in park it was revving high.My mechanic tried connecting to the computer which gave no error message, disconnected the throttle body to confirm there was no debris or anything to cause spontaneous acceleration. He also disconnected the battery and reset the vehicles computer which had no effect. I submitted an online ticket to GM Canada on Oct 23/16 to bring to the companys attention the issue. Ive been contacted twice by phone to give the VIN number (provided to them on the online ticket Oct 23, left a voice mail to the case worker Oct 26 and again to a customer service rep Nov 3).My mechanic has identified the issue as being the throttle pedal sensor and seems to have successfully fixed the glitch however has warned me that since it has gone at such low mileage is highly likely to fail again. Im concerned to take it for long distance trips as this is the third issue thats occurred with this vehicle and is likely to happen again. To date weve had to fix the front sprayer for the windshield and we have the expensive fix for the power steering rack and pistons upcoming. Im severely disappointed that a car with such low mileage has such issues and am worried what future issues are upcoming. That said my mother enjoys how it handles and is everything she wants with a SUV. I just wish it had less problems.

Being a GM family, we have been loyal to the brand but the Acadia falls far short compared to the companys other SUVs. There are 943 Technical Service Bulletins issued for the 2017 Acadia alone! Most of them are related to random leaks, failures with steering, suspension and brakes. As the principal driver, I can attest handling is not as stable as the one-size-down Equinox, although it improved noticeably when we switched to a better tire than what came with the car. Within a few months of purchase, the SUV developed a drive train problem, and it was difficult to find a dealership familiar with the bulletin issued by GM and knew how to resolve it. This is now a known problem, with over 300 registered complaints posted just for this particular repair. Another annoying and known issue: at the gas pump, the baffle in the gas tank causes the fuel pump to shut off after 3 gallons. The solution is to manually hold down the level on the pump, or it will keep shutting off after every 2-3 gallons, even when the tank is nearly empty. And then there are the myriad leaks, detailed in the complaints and TSBs…

Bought new in November of 2007. Have had major issues 3 times with the power steering. The automatic transmission was repaired twice and replaced twice with only 79000 miles on the vehicle. Guess what? The transmission is going out again after a total replacement about a year ago. Does GMC have a problem with the transmission? Oh yes!!! Will they do anything about it? Probably not. Will I do anything about it, Oh yes!!! I will NEVER buy another GM product again. The last transmission replacement was on my nickle after the extended warranty expired. GMC needs to expire. Oh and the radio entertainment system only plays in the right front speaker now, another common problem GMC refuses to acknowledge. This was a vehicle that we wanted to own for 200,000 miles. Maybe if we keep rebuilding it and a truck load of cash. Stay away from GMC. No run away, very far away.

I have owned more than 10 vehicles in my lifetime and the last seven have been new from dealer. This Acadia is the worst vehicle I have owned, new or old. Just over 30,000 it was burning oil excessively and the dealership could not figure it out. Numerous times at shop and still no fix. By the time we got to 70,000 GM had to re-ring the engine and replace the major of other sensors and components. I have probably spent over $3,000 in additional costs that were not covered by the GM Warranty or the GM extended warranty we purchased when buying the Acadia. Its Amazing how convenient it was that every problem we had was not covered by the extended warranty. Regardless the engine is a problem GM cannot figure it out. Google GM Acadia engine problems and you will have hours of reading in front of you. All with a common theme, the engine is a complete piece of garbage that you will be lucky to get 100,000 out of... Most of them seize around 50,000 to 70,000 and GM will NOT cover the repair under warranty. They simply will not take ownership to this problem so do yourself a favor and avoid this headache completely. This is my 4th GMC and without a doubt my last. I will never buy another GM Product for rest of my life which hurts me to write because I have 3 kids I have been preaching Buy American to all their lives. Now that my wife and I are buying the kids the first cars, it will greatly reduce the dealerships we have to look at. I have to clarify that the reason I will never buy a GM product again has very little to do with the Acadia I own. It has to do with the entire fleet and the fact that GM knows its an inherent problem with this Engine but wont take ownership. My engine that has been burning engine since 30,000 needs new heads and valves due to wear from lack of oil, a problem I pointed out in the first 2 years. GM does not think its their problem and they offered me $3000 towards a new car. My car is 4 years old and they want me to trash it. If that is GM customer loyalty, then I need to find a new manufacturer of automobiles. Save yourself the countless trips to the service dept because this vehicle is a problem child that burns oil and your hard earned dollars.

Engine sputtering - recall - internal engine repair. Power steering noise - recall - repaired issue. Only one light works - no issue with the actual lights. Issue unresolved after John Miles GMC in Conyers was unable to troubleshoot the issue. Issue remains. Starter will not shut off - current repair appointment with non-dealer mechanic. Guess well see. I bought a 2007 GMC Acadia 2 years ago with a extended warranty. The mileage was low only 82000. My mileage is only 155000 now. But about 5 months after I bought this truck its been one thing after another. First my power steering went, then my headlight burned and melted the case and I had to replace the headlight case, which is very expensive I might add. And then my motor went. My mechanic called around to a few places and everyone says the same thing that its known to happen with the GMC Acadias. If I had of known this when I bought it I would have left it on the car lot. I would have to agree with people they look good and lots of room, but if you want a reliable vehicle and not to expensive to repair, DO NOT BUY A GMC ACADIA. You will be so pissed off and GMC does not stand by their product.

I own a 2008 Acadia that note had 85,000 miles on it. My transmission went due to a bracket that broke, of course my warranty has expired, but prior to its expiration I had it in the garage twice, not even a GMC certified transmission expert could find a problem. Of course you are not going to find a problem, unless you open the casing and see that there is a cracked bracket causing mischief that is eventually going to cause a total loss. Im a little fortunate because the dealer I bought it from help pay for half, but thanks GM. Nothing like spending money you dont have before Christmas.

Bought my car brand new off the lot which at time Gm had used defective parts. I bought and paid for an astro start from authorized dealer. It has worked great on summer and winter days. Now because Gm recalled my car to fix ignition and cylinder that it put on my new car when I purchased it and in fixing their defective parts have disconnected my auto start which was fully functional and not defective. I am completely dissatisfied with the fact they expect me to pay to have it reprogrammed/reset out of my pocket! It worked fine and I already paid to have it programmed when I purchased the product... this is unacceptable to me as it was through no fault of my own. They put defective parts on my new car and they knew it!! I want resolution, either give me a credit to cover cost or offer to do it for me. I know I am not the only one who is affected by this situation. I urge people to speak up. This isnt right and do not let Gm get away with it. Gm you stink!! Not a satisfied customer here!!

Driving 45mph, when suddenly didnt seem to have power. Called my husband and he asked me to try a couple things and found out I only had 2nd gear. Had car towed to dealership where I was informed that clutch wave plate failed and required new transmission. Because Ive had the vehicle over 5 years, it wasnt covered under warranty. Cant believe with all the complaints on this transmission that GM isnt offering a recall or help with assistance. Ive talked 2 of my friends into buying Acadia because of my experience. Thank goodness they bought after 2010 which coincidentally GM revamped the entire transmission. Coincidence? I think not!

I bought my 2008 Acadia brand new. It has been 95% trouble-free. Small problems, most covered under warranty. Now, with just under 60,000 miles, the transmission has gone bad. My dealer says it will cost $4100.00 to replace with a remanufactured one. I am just sick. This is a $45,000.00 car now worth $13,000. I have been so proud of this car and received so many compliments. It has been a joy and comfort to drive. With all of the bad press and obviously serious manufacturers flaws and cover ups, I am afraid to even consider buying another Acadia.

I own a 2007 acadia. When we bought it we had nothing but problems. The majority of them were covered. The biggest problem is the amplifiers. They said it wasnt related to my flooded vehicle, so if it is not, then there must be a problem with the amps. In order to get these problems added to a recall we need everyone with the same problem to call GMC customer relation at 1-800-462-8782. I have worked for general motors for over 30 years. My new Acadia has been torn apart at the dealership now for weeks. Bought my 2017 Acadia SLT in May. Loved the drive such a great & comfortable SUV. Then the spotting started. I had been noticing the vehicle leaving spots on my driveway. I really was trying to convince myself that it was just A/C water. Took my new baby in to find out what was leaking. The technician showed me. He said, I really thought I was just going to tell you it was moisture from the A/C. Instead what he had was a large puddle of fluid & a bad Transmission leak! WTF. This car has 4k miles on it.Now they have to rip out the transmission? Now that was 2 weeks ago. Today I call and Im informed that they found the source of the leak. The Torque Converter!!! GMC! My car is brand ** new and now its going to be in the shop for a few more weeks! Im trying to be patient... but something needs to be done! I want to give a negative stars. The car while running is great, but its already broken... and it wasnt even the best deal out there!!!

2007 GMC Acadia radio and sound issues - About a year and a half ago, we started experiencing problems with having no sounds for the radio, blinkers, seat belt, back up warning sound that a child or something is behind the vehicle etc. This is definitely a safety issue if the warning beep is not working when backing up. This happened off and on at first and then everything sound wise has stopped working now for the last 16 months. Except for about 30 minutes this summer when all of the sudden we had sound again. We have no idea what happened but the sound quit again and we have not had any sound since. GMC has said they dont know what the cause is and we should take the vehicle to the dealer to troubleshoot the issue. This will entail a repair bill of hundreds of dollars from what the dealer has estimated. I have read and heard this is a common problem with the Acadia. Looks like GM would step up and recall and fix all these issues everyone is having with the Acadia. Very disappointed with GM and their failure to resolve these issues.

GM literally made an awful product - unsafe and unreliable, and makes the customers pay for their mistakes. For years it rained INSIDE my car. I bought this 2010 Acadia 3 months ago. Oh sure, it looks great, but I discovered the a/c doesnt work, the window locks dont work, the windshield washers dont work. When I remove the gas cap to refuel, it wont start unless I floor it. It cranks slow like that battery or starter is bad. Now it pops into neutral while driving and the electric door locks cycle up and down rapidly. What a huge pile of crap this vehicle is. I was a certified GM mechanic for 20 years, but after seeing what kind of junk they are building now, Im ashamed to admit that to anyone. Dont ever buy one of these vehicles. I bought my 2008 Acadia New from the dealership and I have been in Love with it from the beginning. The biggest issues Ive had are my water pump going out in 2013. The rails on floor to moves rows back & forth are a hassle but weve managed to just fold the seats & thats always worked (I got the 8 passenger). A/C has gone bad a couple of times as well. Other than that no major issues. Im at 180k miles now & it decided it was tired by stalling on me & shaking on the freeway, it read on dash Engine reducing speed. I was told by a technician that the transmission was going out and not worth putting money in it anymore because it was at the end of the road. I took it to a different tech at a different shop and he said there seems to be nothing wrong with the transmission and its the suspension, a/c and a few leaks that were not caught which led it to have no coolant & overheating. I have been debating getting a new car because this car has been so good to me and Ive driven it from Los Angeles to Arizona, Las Vegas, Lake Arrowhead, & Big Bear every single winter. Im also a Realtor so I drive a lot. My transmission and engine have never been replaced. So Im having a hard time parting with it. The second technician that gave me a second opinion also offered me $2500 if I decide to actually part with it. Im still debating and having a hard time but I think the time has come to say goodbye. :(

I am a GMC 2008 Acadia owner. I have seen many forums related to the above subject. I am in a very similar situation. I have heard the whine or moan type noise when I would turn the steering wheel. I took my Acadia in the GMC dealer in Merced, CA. They quoted me an outrageous amount of $1,800.00+ to have it fixed. It is out of warranty and I did not have the funds to pay for the work/parts. Now my A/C has went out. I took it in to a local radiator shop and they informed me it was caused by the power steering line making contact with the A/C line and has caused a hole in it. The part for the A/C line is over $700.00. I am at a loss here and have nowhere else to turn to for help on this vehicle. As it stands now, I am currently out of an A/C that was caused by the power steering line. As I understand by reviewing many forums, this is a known issue that many of GMC Acadias have had. Desperately seeking assistance on this from GMC.

I purchased a 2012 GMC Acadia from the used vehicle department of Cole McNatt GMC in Gainesville, Texas. Shortly after purchase of the Vehicle, I noticed that the Vehicle began shaking while shifting. This led me to believe that there was an issue with the Vehicle’s transmission, which was confirmed by my mechanic.Below is a timeline of my correspondence with GM: Initial call to GM on 11/20. Case number given #**. Spoke to representative and told him there was a transmission issue diagnosed by my mechanic. Watson Transmission in Denison, TX that could potentially be covered under warranty. GM Representative indicated that there could be coverage assistance if issue was similar to Wave Plate and recall transmission for similar model vehicles. GM Representative also indicated that GM would likely provide financial assistance due to the fact that the vehicle was under the mileage limit for warranty coverage (despite being a few months out of the time limit). Was advised by Representative to bring vehicle into a GMC dealership.11/21 brought vehicle to my local GM dealership, Parkway Buick GMC in Sherman, Texas. A week later I was told the vehicle transmission would need to inspected in order to identify issue to submit to GM for coverage. I was informed that the charge to disassemble and diagnose the issue, $1,000, would be my responsibility until coverage was determined; the dealership. Based on the statement from the GM Representative that GM would likely provide financial assistance, I decided to proceed. 12/6 Dealership indicated the transmission would need to be replaced and GM had denied warranty claim. I contacted GM and was told the claim was denied but a new ticket number was given to escalate to Senior Analyst. Senior Analyst determined no coverage.Parkway Buick GMC gave me the option of paying to have the Vehicle put back together (in addition to the $1,000 we had to pay to take it apart) or replacing the transmission altogether. As it did not seem prudent (financially or practically) to reassemble the Vehicle with a known transmission issue, I elected to have Parkway Buick GMC replace the transmission (at a cost of nearly $5,000). Had I not been encouraged by the GM Representative that assistance would be provided, I would not have proceeded, at that time, with the initial disassembly and inspection, as my family was not prepared for the financial burden of transmission replacement. After researching this specific problem, I have learned that this is a common issue with the Acadia model vehicle. I believe that the failure of the Vehicle’s transmission was a manufacturing flaw. And, considering that the Vehicle was just a few months out of warranty but under the warranty mileage limit at the time the issue was discovered, I appealed, asking that GM cover in full or share with me the cost of this repair. My appeal was denied.GM’s reputation and marketing emphasize its vehicles’ durability, reliability, and safety and care for customer satisfaction. I have many family and friends that have owned GM vehicles and, before this incident, I had no reason to believe that the company would deny coverage for repair of an issue with one of its vehicles. I was, honestly, very surprised that GM not only denied my claim but also declined to offer assistance with the $1,000 charge for diagnosis, a step that was taken at the suggestion of one of its dealerships. Especially considering that I had been told by the GM representative that there would likely be assistance.I anticipate that in a few years, I will need to upgrade to newer vehicle, but now I hesitate to ever purchase another GM vehicle. I am GM’s target customer, the father of a young family that is growing and will have a need for multiple safe and dependable vehicles for years to come. GM did not stand behind its product and cover the cost of this repair.

We bought a used 2009 GMC Acadia from a private owner less than a year ago
We bought a used 2009 GMC Acadia from a private owner less than a year ago and weve already dumped $6000 into it. The transmission is the main & most recent thing to be replaced. My transmission went out at 130K. I lost 3rd gear 4th gear and reverse and had my 2 kids under age 2 in the car with me. Weve had the new transmission in for about a month and already its missing and jerking as it shifts. There is also a continual issue with acceleration while turning left, it sound like metal vibrating together or clattering in the engine that gets increasingly louder as you accelerate and the power seems to bog down at the same time. Seems every time I take it to the shop they replace this or that (I cant remember the long list of specific things) and it drives fine for a few weeks and then these same problems start happening again. Im taking it to a GM dealership next week - hoping they can do a better job of pinpointing the issues than our local mechanic. At this point I want to get rid of it but we just put in the new transmission, my husband thinks we need to keep it forever but Im certain its nothing but an expensive headache. I love the cosmetic features of this vehicle and the upgrades but the engine sucks! So disappointed, I will NEVER recommend this vehicle to anyone.

We have owned this vehicle now for three years. Three transmissions have gone into this vehicle, not to mention damn headlights keep blowing which is $160 to fix because the whole panel has to come out. The power steering pump went and now the car has shut down twice on busy highway. The GM dealer tells me because of low oil, after he just serviced the vehicle less than 3 weeks prior. A car shuts down because of low oil?? No oil light, no warning. We did receive a $180 bill for checking the oil and topping up. I threw the bill in the managers face. Seriously Dangerous that we plan a class action suit on GM for allowing and knowing such a dangerous activity to occur and risking an accident. I own a 2013 GMC Acadia. The issue is this - upon initial start and driving within the first 600 ft there is transmission calibration noises which range from a light bumping noise to a major thud. The other day I was driving most more than 30 km and the transmission make a thud - sounded like I hit a boulder on the road. We immediately pulled the vehicle over to look for an obstruction on the road. There was nothing - not even a pothole. The GMC dealer where we have our vehicle service and was purchased from have not been able to come up with any diagnosis for this problem. They have acknowledged verbal that there is an issue - however the service report comes up clean. What a joke. We paid and are paying real money for this vehicle and it should run properly. Repairs need to be done and yet nothing has been to say Im disappointed is an understatement. It seems to me that the challenges are the fact that no one in North America can actually build a reliable vehicle that will run for longer than a mop head from China. Maybe we should start manufacturing there - at least then we could afford to replace a vehicle every 20 thousand kilometer.

It is a shame that a less than 5 years old Acadia 2012 with less than 50,000 miles feels like a run-down vintage! Central Lock malfunction second day I purchased the brand new car (1st day after purchase, at 5 miles!!!) CV damaged (first year). Middle Seat Closure mechanism broken first six months. Engine mounts are broken (after three years). Air distributor is broken (after four years). Engine bracket is broken (after four years). To add insult the injury the dealer is incompetent, promotes an extended warranty that doesnt extend to anything, and only finds out problems after the expiration of the warranty. It is either GM sells Lemons or off-spec vehicles in Saudi Arabia, or the Saudi Specs are designed for junk cars. Either way, never again. I bought a 2008 GMC Acadia in March of 2011. It was my biggest car purchase and I was very excited to buy it. It was everything I wanted and more, with lots of space for my family of 7 and many great accommodations. Last year, in Aug. 2012, I began having issues with it, water leaking, engine lights coming on and random cut offs. I took it to the dealer and they wanted me to replace the trans, which is very costly. I did not. My husband and I had the trans flushed and everything seemed to be okay again for a few months. When spring came around and rain came down, more problems began. Every time it rained, my battery was drained. Eventually, the car just stopped working. We took it to the dealer numerous times, but no one listened when I explained my thoughts that the leaking had something to do with the problem. We replaced two batteries in a week. The dealer claimed they couldnt find anything wrong with the car, but when I went to leave, the car went into battery saver mode so I took it right back. The service advisor was clearly annoyed and ignored me for the first 15 minutes I was there. I again explained my concerned that the rain and water that had leaked into my vehicle had something to do with the electrical issues I was having. He told me the two things had nothing to do with each other. A few days later, he calls and tells me that there was a leak in the front caused by the sun roof and that was causing the issues. We paid to repair that and he said that we were good to go. About a week later, the problem happened again. The dealership had our car for more than ten days (mind you, I am 7 months pregnant right now with a high risk pregnancy). This time, we worked with a person a friend recommended, and they repaired the rear moon roof at no charge for all of the inconvenience. I was very thankful for this. Unfortunately, three days and two nights rain later, my car will not start again. How is this still happening and why is this not being recalled? I cannot afford to put myself and my family at risk every time I get into my car.

We purchased this truck in May 2007 so we owned it for exactly 7 yrs. I intend to have it for another 18-20 months and then buy a Ford Expedition. We are DONE with GM - after owning just this one vehicle. I loved it when we first bought it. At 1 yr old, we had to replace the sway bar and bring it in for multiple recalls. But it was the first model year and the sway bar wasnt expensive, so I just shrugged it off. In 2009, the real trouble began. First the service airbag light came on. It was still under warranty so I brought it to the dealer and had them look at it - cost me $100 for them to run the code and then tell me the airbag was not covered warranty and would cost $1000 to fix. So weve been driving around with the airbag light on ever since. Then the check engine light started coming on - I brought it into the dealer and they said it was some coil, fixed it and it was good for a while. Summer 2010, check engine light came on again - again they fixed it. That Nov. we were going to FL - check engine light came on again - we had it serviced right before we left - we were driving down I95 and the light came on again. Brought it back to dealer as soon as we got back. They fixed it again this time and we were good. Until the following summer. Check engine light came on again - after being in the shop, getting car back, and light coming in again (we went through 3 loaners), they finally determined it was the timing chain. It was in the shop for almost 3 weeks. Finally we got it back and thought we were good to go - and were until the next summer (2012) the amp on the radio stopped working. Thankfully my husband was able to fix that himself. Now last May, just as we paid it off 2013 - the transmission had to be replaced. We paid for it ourselves since now it was way out of warranty. Just got the car back this morning b/c it was at mechanic the last 2 days b/c the entire front suspension had to be redone - final bill $3000. But its less than a new car - and I really want that Expedition. Hopefully now we can get through the next 18 months without any majors repairs. I am really disappointed. I had a Dodge Durango before this - I had it the same amt of time - put 187000 miles on it AND it was in an accident (this Acadia has never been wrecked). I had to put a transmission in the Durango and ball joints ($700) and a water pump ($150). Thats IT! Nothing like this Acadia has cost me. I hope I have better luck with the Expedition. We got rid of the Durango b/c the gas mileage sucked - that was one thing that really attracted us to the Acadia - and the 8 passenger seating. We have 6 kids. Anyway fingers crossed that we are in the clear now.

I bought this GMC Acadia in August of 2008. Brand new. I followed all scheduled maintenance recommendations set by GMC. At 78,000 miles while driving down the interstate, a hole blows in the side of the transmission stranding my wife and two young sons 3 hours from home. Naturally the factory warranty is up. BUT, I told my wife, This is why you buy from a company such as GMC, they will stand by their product, and help us pay for it. WRONG! GMC totally turned their backs on us! GMC customer service told me twice there is nothing they will do. They did tell me if I had taken it to a GMC dealer theyd look at it. Really? I cant drive it! Its at a private mechanic. What pay to have it towed again to a dealership so they can tell me they wont help me again then over charge me to fix it and make more money off me that I dont have??? NO WAY! The funny thing is, Ive read reviews of tons of people having this exact same problem with GMC and this Acadia transmission problem. Wake up GMC! I say this because not a couple months ago, I told my wife wed buy her a new Tahoe in July of 2016. NOT NOW! Im totally disgusted that a big company such as GMC, has no problem squeezing the little people of America!

Our 2011 GMC Acadia (18,500 miles) will be in the shop for the third time as of tomorrow within four weeks. Each time, it has been to a different dealer/shop for repair. The first two noted two very different issues, but it boils down to the fact that the vehicle has serious electrical issues. There are numerous complaints/threads about the 2011 Acadia regarding this issue, amongst others. We have contacted GM corporate/customer service (which takes us to Austin, TX) and have been given the runaround ever since. The vehicle actually lost power when I was on the road driving recently. I had no power to go forward, and could only reverse. We have serious concerns now about the safety of this vehicle, and the Texas customer service department, District Specialists, Jamal and Shareef (not sure how to spell Shareef, but I will spell it like it sounds), and Shareefs supervisor, Josh (**), have done nothing but brush us off, leave us waiting on the phone for an hour (literally). They tell us they will call us back at a certain time and then do not follow through, and give us attitude. The car is still not running correctly. Today Josh - who refuses to give his last name, refuses to give us the name of his boss and tells us we cant go above him, tells us to take it to the dealer (again) and if we are still not happy, they will look into swapping it out. Josh refuses to tell us what that process includes, or how long it may take. Keep in mind we have already been told this by Shareef, so they seem to like to keep pushing you off in efforts to not deal with you. Not one of them has seemed overly concerned about our safety. This is supposed to be our family car (three kids, two dogs), as well as our mountain car. We live in CO and are in the mountains about 2-3 times a month. What if the Acadia had shut down on us, or slipped out of gear like it did the first time and when we were unable to move, on a steep grade? Or on the mountain highways in general? The chances of us being hit and potentially killed are very, very high. There are very few places to pull over and people tend to drive fast.We are highly disappointed with the individuals we have dealt with in Texas, as well as ** who works for a Chevy dealer (who was supposed to have fixed our car this last time) on 120th Ave. in Broomfield, CO. He seemed to think that the car shutting down on me on a highly traveled road was somewhat normal and a safety feature. He said that all cars have problems, and we should just expect them. Needless to say, the runaround and lack of general interest in our situation makes me seriously question the product I bought from GM, and GM all around. I should have bought the Nissan Armada. We are sorry to have given GM our business at this point. As a side note, each dealership who was supposed to have fixed our car (GMC in Glenwood Springs and Chevy on 120th) returned our car back very dirty. Grease marks were on the drivers, passenger door and wheel (Chevy), and tons of dust and debris were coating the interior of our car, which indicates they left the windows wide open (Glenwood Springs). ** at Chevy offered us a coupon at a local car wash, but did not seem to care or think it was bad customer service to give us back the Acadia more dirty than it initially was. These were terribly customer service experiences all around.

Sat in the car using accessories on my lunch hour. Clock did not keep time. Hit the accessory button. Again it went back 4 min from where it was - overall lost 10 min every time I hit the accessory button. Has anyone else had this issue? Also very uncomfortable drivers seat. Supposed to be top of the line better than other models. When I took an SLE out for comparison that seat was much better. Go figure.

Back in 2008 when GM was in trouble financially and I needed a car, my family purchased an Acadia. Part of our decision-making process involved supporting an American company. We really liked/like the car - the reliability is the overarching problem. To begin, there were a number of recalls resulting in many hours overall waiting at the dealer. If that were the only issue, I could deal with it. Unfortunately, that is just the beginning. We started having problems with the engine coils failing. First one - $400, a month later, another - $450. Four months later, one of the same coils that we had replaced and a different one - $660.00. Six months passed not without repairs (new radiator $700) and now the coils are a problem AGAIN! The dealer now tells us that ALL of the coils, the ECM and the catalytic converter all need to be replaced pursuant to a bulletin #PIP5038B which states if there are certain failure codes, which were present for us, that replacing less than all of the coils and other stuff, would result in future failure of the coils, problems with the brain and emissions. Total for this work - $2,931.72! Picked the car up and before arriving home, check engine light was back on! Can you believe it?? Dealer now states, which to be fair they had been working on and thought they had corrected, that the fuel injector is too clogged as a result of the coil problem and will need to be replaced - $765.00.My gripe - The coil failure appears to be a recurring issue which the dealer did not service properly initially replacing them one at a time resulting in our having to pay $1,510 only to have the same problem 6 months later. In that time, GM learned that they could not fix the problem 1 coil at a time and alerted their dealers in the bulletin. They learned while I paid but when the problem resurfaced due to the failure of their repairs, instead of offering to make good and apologizing for the additional inconvenience to me, they charged me an additional $3,000 which didnt fully fix the problem and now requires another $765. Who knows if that will be the end - perhaps there is a problem yet to be discovered with another fuel injector?I have spoken with the executive office and they offered to pay 50% of the current repair OR give me a voucher for $3,000 toward another GM product but I do not feel that this is fair compensation. I have had to expend $5500 on this car this year alone - not taking the additional $765 into account. One other note, GM continues to throw out that my car has high mileage which is a factor in the amounts they would offer. I purchased the car to drive, not preserve. I have taken care of the vehicle. Are GM cars only meant to go 100,000 and then die? Volvo and Toyota owners seems to expect 100s of thousands of miles but GM no? I dont see them advertising that. What would I like? For others to know of the problem. To be fully reimbursed for the monies we have had to expend in repairs to the coils so I can reinvest them in a new car that will actually work. Thanks, I would appreciate your help!

My wife and I bought our GMC Acadia new in 2011 and we have put more money into this vehicle than our Dodge truck we bought 15 years ago. First the struts were blown out the third year we owned it and also a stabilizer bar and most recently the throttle sensor went bad and so the entire throttle body needed to be replaced and also some reprogramming supposedly. Not impressed with this GMC - could be the last one we ever own. Oh and of course the later fix gmc weasled around the warranty knowing which parts are junk and how to get around covering junk parts.

We purchased the vehicle brand new. We began having problems immediately back and forth reporting issues. Beaman could not detect or duplicate the issues other than the recall problems. Ex of problems ranged from numerous recalls windshield, lights, condensation, time chain, and repeated issues with the transmission. The vehicle was under warranty. The problems with the vehicle continued. In 2012 the vehicle was paid off and warranty close to expiring. In May 2012 we left the vehicle with Beaman (transmission) while out of town. We picked up the vehicle and was told they could not duplicate the issue. Beaman advised us the vehicle was design to run and function that way. The following week the vehicle stopped. It was towed to another GM dealership. My second complaint to GM on May 16, 2012 - warranty expired. The service team determined the issue. Software components were damaged tied to the transmission required replacing. The service manager was able to convince GM to pay. My case Id still open. We continue to have issues with this transmission. This is clear to be UDAAP.

I met with the area person in charge of working out these issues who gave me coverage until next June, and now again I am experiencing another problem. The ignition won’t turn all the way to allow the key to come out. Please do not get me wrong, the employees are very wonderful, but wonderful will not solve my problem. Please, how can you help me? Danger to people on the road and the families riding in it. Few of my other problems: complete instrument cluster panel, vehicle went completely dark and dead in middle of freeway, timing chain cover leak (1st time), timing chain cover leak (2nd time), timing chain replacement, rack & pinion gear, water pump, steering pump, brake master cylinder, rear lift gate free falled on my daughters head while she was loading groceries at Trader Joes.

I have a 2010 Acadia SLT. I love my car however upon my last visit to the dealership for regular tune up we discovered the car was leaking oil which led to completely taking the car apart. This car was purchased new in 2010 and was $38000.00. It has 65,000 miles on it and we have had very little issues - the recalls. Not too bad. This car is very safe and rides and handles very well after 6 years. I am even considering getting a new Acadia Denali. I do feel like now that the car has over 50,000 miles - little things are going to start going wrong. When I went in for my last tune up the service manager gave me a list of things that my car was due to have done to it. Thankfully my husband is a retired mechanic for Ford and knew that it was all a bunch of crock. A car this expensive with that has been maintained as scheduled should last well over 150,000.00 miles. Not sure if it will.

I bought my 2013 GMC Acadia new. I had warranty. I maintenance it including the transmission. I have had rear A/C replaced, fuel pump on engine, 4 fuel pumps on the gas tank, accelerator sensor/pedal, the paint rubbed off. This week without warning while driving 65 mph my transmission failed. I heard a clunk and my vehicle died. I made it off the road. It started and would not stay in 3rd gear. Took to dealership and they said they would see what they could do for me. It is dead (catastrophic failure) and out of warranty. I have made 4 years of payments ($700) and have 2-1/2 years of payments left. It is basically sitting in my driveway unusable. Cant get to my new job, cant take my terminally ill son to the doctors, etc. Im biting my nails as to what they will offer me.

I bought a GMC Acadia in 2009 brand new. It was nice as all new cars. I meticulously maintained it and even ensured to buy the extended warranty when purchased. If you are keeping count thats almost a total of $48k. So my transmission decides to fail at 72348 and I contact the dealer to be told that myvehicle is not covered by the manufacturer warranty or extended warranty as of 4 months ago. REALLLY! Then every possible shop I have spoken to has suggested that the transmission should not have failed at that mileage. Seems like I was doomed from the day I purchased this vehicle. I contacted GM corporate office to see if they would assist at least with parts and I pay labor. NADA. No help. Save your money; do not BUY ANY GM BRAND. Now I guess I understand why Toyota, Honda, and Nissan are normally better buys. If you have an original warranty stating drive train etc. for 100000 miles, you should honor it. I AM AT 28000 MILES SHY OF THAT. WHY SHOULD I PAY $3000 FOR A TRANSMISSION? ANSWER ME THAT GM AKA PROFESSIONAL GRADE!

Like everyone else....My 2008 GMC Acadia is having transmission failure. AGAIN. This will be my 3rd transmission in this vehicle. My first replacement was 30k miles ago, and now its in the shop again. I had my transmission rebuilt last year because right when I hit 100k miles I started having problems. It ended up being everyones favorite, the wave plate. Now, they are telling me its the torque converter. Before this vehicle, I had a GMC Sierra which was covered under the lemon law due to serious brake problems. After fighting them for so long on that truck, they gave me this vehicle. What a nightmare it has been.I wrote GM an email with screen shots of many of the complaints in this forum. Along with many other complaints and stats that I found regarding the bad transmissions in these vehicles. I then contacted them via Twitter and phone. They told me they will pay 30% of the repair. Wow GM, how kind of you. I have had every problem documented, leaks in the vehicle, electrical failure, car just stopped running when I was going 75 on the 405 in LA at 11pm at night. That was fun.I am now fighting them on this transmission repair. This transmission should have been recalled. Worst part of it, this is just an old transmission from a previous Acadia that they rebuilt and are trying to charge me $2,800 for. Its not like they recalled it and fixed the issue, then built new transmissions. Its going to have the same exact wave plate issues, because its the same transmission! What dont they get about this? It has been such a battle with GM over the last 8 years. All I want to do is get as far away as possible from GM & GMC. They have no love for their customers and do not work hard enough to give anyone a reason to stick around. Their new CEO better start working double over time.

Electronic motherboard went out six months in, water pump, eleven months in, intermittent whirring sound (which I was told repeatedly it was a design flaw then once that I needed an oil change). In addition the air conditioner gradually loss cooling then discovered leak in a hose to condenser. Now power steering completely gone and so is air. Of course they are able to find problems now that its all out of warranty. GMC national is no help. They lie and cover up all problems. Think of it as the VA of the auto world.

My 2011 Acadia is becoming very expensive to own. At 44k we had to replace both of the front struts. Next we had a bearing problem in the transmission that was covered by warranty. Now a steering issue has started with the dealer advising that the steering gear is leaking fluid into the boots. Estimated repair cost of $1100. This vehicle only has 47k miles on it. We ended up finding this out at our 5th service, but at the 4th service, our entire drivetrain was torn apart to have the torque converter clutch replaced - Which didnt solve our problem. We bought a 2011 Acadia with 78k miles on it. Ive been a GM fan my entire life and trusted the name. It seemed like a great vehicle at first. We had some minor issues here and there but nothing too bad. My first aggravations were with the engineering of the vehicle. Changing the oil is a pain and the headlight bulbs are a nightmare. The air system decided to only blow hot air on the driver side, possible deflector failure. Good times for the summer. One day the engine started knocking.Immediately we parked it and towed it to our local shop. They started it to listen to it and the engine locked up. 6 months out of warranty (90k miles on it, but over 5 years) and GMC said well youre the second owner so we cant help you. 7k to put a new engine in. Im nearly 30k into the vehicle and max trade in is about 10,500 from a GM dealer. With the original engine and the new GM engine we average about 13-14 mpg getting 16 highway. My 04 Silverado gets 17. Ill never, ever buy a GM product again.

I owned a 2011 GMC Acadia for almost 5 years now with a 23500 miles on it, hardly used it due to my line of work which is always away from home. Multiple recall been corrected in which I think its ridiculous at first place, but I said, no worries, its being corrected in a way, thats good! Last week I went to San Diego to visit a friend with my family, driving there with no issue. When we head back home en-route to 101 freeway, it was drizzling a little bit that time, suddenly it chimed 3 or 4 times and wondering whats wrong, my instrument panel indicated stability track light on, reduce engine power and applied brakes, felt like I was drifting a little bit from a different lane, and loss engine power, kind a bit worry, but managed to pulled into the shoulder lane. As per the troubleshooting, turn off engine and wait for 15 seconds and start engine, nice! Stability light off with no issue except engine light on now. Managed to drive again for an hour just to head back home. Brought my Acadia to GMC service department to see whats wrong with the engine. It put out a fault code of P0700 and P182E pertaining to manual shift lever inside transmission shortening out. For 23500 miles I wouldnt expect that, and my warranty just expired last July, it cost me $1200 for that issue. Now, Im heading to Texas driving my Acadia, makes me wonder what discrepancy will my Acadia will call out.

Apparently the wave plate in the transmission of these cars, as well as some other GMC autos, is defective. My transmission started flaring when it was trying to shift from 1st to 2nd, and again from second to third. It also whined noticeably when I was stopped. I had to replace it with a re-manufactured transmission. I had 110,000 miles on it so it was out of warranty. GM reduced the price by 20% but it still cost me about $3600. Many people are experiencing this problem and many are under 100,000 miles. I feel that GMC should have a fix for this issue. A recall would be the right thing to do. So do it.

We bought my 2008 GMC Acadia brand new! When I had 30,000 miles on it, my transmission went out! I got it back and 1 day later, the Camshaft went out! It was in the shop for months! At 72,000 miles on it and 6 years, my engine is SHOT. $7,500 for a new one! The engine went out 2 weeks after my warranty was up! GM refused to do anything about it and I was never offered an extended warranty! So the repairs will be 3/4 what the car is worth! I called GM and explained the situation and the generous jerks said all they would do for me was give me $2,000 toward a new car! I talked to dealership and they explained it wasnt just a GM loyalty bonus, it was all they would give me for my trade in!! So I pay $43,000 for vehicle and 6 years later, its only worth $2,000!! Blue book is $11,000!! All I wanted was to at least get 1/2 of the blue book! However, that was not even considered! We have bought 8 GM vehicles brand new totaling $275,000! My dad retired from GM so I have always been loyal!! Never had any issues with our 4 Avalanches, Montana Van, Camaro, and Cavalier! The Acadia was my favorite (at first). I loved the style and room in it, but Ive seriously been so disappointed by all the issues - engine, camshaft, transmission, no radio or sounds because amp is fried! Front end making awful noises which again, they refused to fix! I will be purchasing another GM (dads discount is too good to turn down) and I hope and pray it will be alright because like I said, this Acadia is the only one weve had trouble with! I hope this helps someone! Make sure if you buy an Acadia to take it in at 36,000 and have a diagnostic run even if you dont notice anything and again before the 100,000 or 5 years!

I purchased an 07 Acadia two years ago with 80k miles and a 3 year warranty. Within the first month the transmission had to be repaired (SUV wouldnt go over 20 mph, wouldnt switch gears). The extended warranty covered the $3600 expense. Vehicle was in the shop for over a month. A few months later the steering was messed up and hissing loudly. The whole dash had to be taken out and I received new steering column amongst other things. Over $1500 repair covered by warranty. A few months later vehicle overheats, engine power is reduced. Cant drive vehicle. Not covered under warranty. Several hundred $$$ bill. Tire sensor light bad. Too much $ to fix. Still drivable. Few months later engine starts back-firing, driving very poorly. Every possible dash light is illuminated. Stabilitrak, traction control, engine, service all-wheel-drive (no oil light)- engine power reduced. Vehicle wont drive.Took it to GMC (who now knows me by first name but still screws me over every chance they get) and they said oil needed changed, after they did $200 in diagnostics. $300 later, I was out the door with no lights illuminated on the dash and a smooth running GMC. Got a lecture about the oil and how important it is to keep it changed and full. One month later ding ding ding- service traction control, engine power reduced. Car wont go! Checked the oil- it was still full. I still had plenty of miles left to go before my next oil change. Restarted the car- no lights. Drove fine except engine light on and remote start will not work when this light is on. A couple weeks later it happened again and now happens multiple times in one short trip. The vehicle cannot be safely driven in fear of this happening on a busy highway or while driving across the bridge with no emergency lane. Ive heard (and believe) its the sensor. However, Im so beyond sick and tired of this crap. The vehicle is nowhere near paid off and it wont run half the time. It hasnt ran well since I bought it. Problem after problem after problem. When I look online there are tons and tons of the same complaints. These Acadias are LEMONS. I have never in my life had so many issues with a vehicle, especially that even the dealers couldnt figure out what the problem was. Not sure how or why there isnt a class-action lawsuit. These vehicles are unsafe to drive. Has anyone contacted GMC corporate? SO INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTED!

It has now 3300 thousand miles on it and I am having so many problems. I got in a accident on April 4, 2016. Was not my fault. They fixed it 20 days later.Four days later pink fluid was pouring out of the bottom of my car. Took it back to the collision place. They said it was power steering fluid. They looked at it and could not find anything wrong. May 16th 2016 took it back again and they checked hoses and everything that could be leaking. They said, Take it to the dealership. Well I was looking up things before I took it to the Dealership. They were having problems with the Steering units on Acadias from 2007 to 2011. They have to fix it for free. Of course why would they tell anyone that. Also my coolant is empty. I really do not understand what is going on with my car. Took it today to the Dealership. They cannot find anything but a oil leak. I have no light saying anything is wrong but I need to know if anyone is having this problem. I was told that my coolant is empty. My engine would freeze up correct.

I lose the power steering from time to time. It is bad when I am making a turn as I have almost run off the road several times! They tell me it will cost $1,900 to fix. Others have done the repair and still have a problem. Is this a GM problem??

Thanks gmc. I bought a 2007 Arcadia it has 75000 miles on it and I now need a transmission. My car just stopped on the road. For the money I spent and from what I read this is an ongoing problem. I cannot afford 3500 dollars but I guess you could not care one bit. Thanks for all your ads telling me how great this car is.

I bought a brand new 2014 Acadia in December. It is now August and I have had 3 different problems. When the car was 6 weeks old, my car died in a parking lot (leaving me blocking parked cars) in 20 degree weather with my 3 year old in the car. After being towed to the dealership, I was told that I didnt have any fuel in the tank although it said I had 54 miles to empty (OnStar confirmed). This was found to be a problem with the reading in the tank and shortly after became a recall. Two months later I started hearing a crunching sound in the tires when I turned a corner. This ended up being some belt that wasnt getting the right amount of fluid so it snapped. That repair took three days so I had to have a rental car... even though I paid top dollar for a brand new car, I was riding around in a rental car. At this point, I was very frustrated but still loved the look and roominess of this vehicle. During the summer I started hearing a squealing when I turned the air conditioner on. Within days I was getting no cold air on very hot days. The dealership could not find a leak but recharged it and sent me home. Within a week and a half the squealing started again... clearly a problem! So I called to report it but was leaving for vacation the next day so made an appointment for the day I got back. I took it in and they ran a light over the system to see if there was a leak... no leak found and sent me home. Within two days while driving with my children in the car, we could not get any cold air and it was a very hot, humid day. Now Im riding around in my new car with my windows down sweating. I called right away and was told that my car would not give as much cold air while idling (what??) and that the air conditioner might not be able to keep up with the humidity! Really, are you kidding me? Why did I pay this much for a car that cannot keep me cold when its hot all summer? They told me to bring it back in and they would run the light over it again. I didnt have a day that I could stop and it had cooled off outside so I was getting colder air...so apparently my brand new car really cant handle humidity... What a piece of junk! So, its hot again (over 90 degrees) and we literally cant breathe in the car. It is blowing hot air when its humid out. My husband called and spoke with the service manager who said he would call back which he did... 9 hours later and left a voice mail. He said they would run a light over it and if it didnt show a leak there was nothing they could do about it and the car could only cool to 64 degrees in this humidity level. Another joke, it never got to 64 degrees, more like 84 degrees blowing on us and if it says 60 thats what it should get to. Another person that tells me my car cant handle the humidity. Its going in today to have another checkup with the light. Is it only me or could the system just not work properly? How could we pay so much and have such a problematic car... so frustrated!!

At 15,000 miles, the brakes and rotors had to be replaced. The service manager said that driving on gravel roads caused gravel to get in the pads. I was told if it happened again, I would have to stand the cost of repairs. 8000 miles later, the brakes had gravel in the pads and the rotors were grooved and had to be turned. I was told that I must blow the dirt off every week. The service write up person said only people driving on gravel roads were having trouble. I said the Acadia book did not say to stay off gravel roads or to blow the brakes off every week. GM has a serious defect in their design that needs to be addressed.

I recently purchased a used 2008 GMC Acadia after scouring a trusted dealerships lot for a new SUV. I immediately fell in love with the features and look for the Acadia and signed my hard earned money away on the dotted line. Less than two months in, I now realize that this was the worst decision of my life. It drove smooth at first but I began to notice some transmission issues when accelerating. It wasnt noticeable enough to be a major deal as I am used to some lag in acceleration when driving heavier SUVs (I traded in a Toyota Sequoia). Now just one week after making my first payment my check engine light is as bright as day. As I scroll these reviews and look online for anger management counselors to keep me from flipping out at my local dealership and on the phone with GMC I am preparing a strategy to get rid of this vehicle especially now that I see all of the negative feedback. Thanks for all that have posted their experiences, I will never ever buy American or GMC again, back to foreign.

2013 GMC Acadia Denali with 13,500 miles. The driver seat bezel is cracked. Brought it in to the dealer for warranty repairs. Was told by the dealer that this problem is very common and there is no stock available to fix the seat. I am now on a waiting list to get it fixed. Because the crack is so bad I now have packing tape holding the electronic seat controls from falling out of the seat housing. Since this is so common, why is there no re-call and why isnt GMC doing more to keep up with the parts demand?

I have a 2008 GMC Acadia, bought new and now only have 49,154 miles on it and the transmission has gone out. The dealership wants $4200 to take it out and put a refurb in, no opening it up or looking at it. GM says they wont recognize that there is a problem with their Acadias and the transmissions and refuse to recall costing consumers thousands! GM is willing to put $1200 towards the fix but they require that it is opened up and looked at before fixing. Once that happens they will decide whether it is repaired or a refurb is put in. But this takes my rights away. If they choose it gets fixed, then it comes with a 12,000 mile/1 year warranty. If it is replaced then it comes with a 100,000 mile/3 year warranty. I dont get to make this decision though if I accept their terms. What kind of help is this? Everywhere I have read, it will only be a matter of time before the transmission goes out again. :( Also to note, we have had to replace both headlights for wiring issues, replace the water pump, and have all the seals replaced in the moon roof and sun roof!

Bought a 2008 Acadia SLT FWD used from a GMC dealer. Ironically, about the same time as two of our friends. So far, it has been a complete disaster. The worst car we have ever owned and our friends have had a never ending list of similar issues. It started with the little knobs in the car just falling off. The first to go was the lumbar support knob on the drivers seat. Then the airbag light comes on and off for no reason. The reverse parking system consistently flashes a message that it needs servicing so we have shut it off at about 60,000 miles. Beware: this car is heavy and it eats tires, rotors and brakes. We are at 98,000 miles and have had 3 sets of tires, new rotors and new brakes. To top that off, the struts and shocks needed replacing at about 90,000 miles. At 98,000 miles (today), we are being told we need $5,300 in repairs to the car for a water pump, transmission (please look on the internet for this before you buy. Their transmissions are terrible and shift poorly), and engine rebuild. Overall outside of oil changes, we will have spent over $8,000 in repairs on a car we have driven just at 60,000 miles which is horrible. The gas mileage on these is not great, we get just about 16.5 miles per gallon on this car. Did I mention the sunroof leaks more than the Titanic during the rain. It just pours in at the drivers sun visor. Bring a towel on a rainy day. If you think this is unique, think again. You can search Acadia leaky sunroofs and there are tons and tons of them. If anyone thinks I am exaggerating, just do some basic searching on the problems I have listed, they are common. There are a ton of service bulletins out on these cars for all kinds of issues. Again, do not buy one of these. I repeat: do not buy this car. Did I mention the air conditioning will just shut off for no apparent reason? Ours does.

My car is currently at Gateway Buick GMC in St. Louis Missouri where I have received news that I need a new engine after it stopped on me in the middle of the highway; the light read engine power reduced. My car is 2009 GMC Acadia and in good condition. My understanding is very poor when it comes to why I need a new engine in a car that is under 10 years old. I have contacted GMC and they gave me a Senior Advisor and a service # however no one has been able to answer my question as to why I would need a new engine when this car is under 10 years old. I am frustrated and confused. At this point I am considering hiring an attorney. This is ridiculous.

Well after scouring the forums I think I have my opinion and the problem with the front engine mount on these vehicles. If the oil filter is removed during an oil change, oil will drip down and into the front engine mount regardless of the rubber hood. After a while it seems that the oil deteriorates the rubber inside the mount causing it to fail. This is a design flaw for sure. Sure the oil could be pumped out of the engine but still oil can seep down when the filter is removed. Yes, we have also had the steering rack/pinion replaced at 20K miles, and now this. I will never buy another.

I own 2009 GMC Acadia SLT-1. This is the nicest vehicle I have ever owned so I have strived to take really good care of it. For the last few months, I have been experiencing an issue that seemingly cannot be resolved! When I am driving on the highway and I achieve the speed want to go and let off the gas and the vehicle would coast, it starts what I refer to as missing. It has not given off any codes and I have had it checked out by two mechanics. The problem is getting worse! Without a code and the lack of anything obvious, it cannot be resolved. The last time I took it in, the transmission fluid was low, which makes me wonder with all of the posts on transmissions going bad in Acadias, if it could be my transmission. I do not know what to do and am writing this in hopes someone has had similar issues and can share your experience and maybe your end result! HELP!!!

I purchased my 2014 GMC Acadia Denali from Dutton Buick from Riverside CA.
I purchased my 2014 GMC Acadia Denali from Dutton Buick from Riverside CA. I traveled to purchase my car because I was unable to find exactly what I was looking for in my hometown. I drove 5 hours from my hometown. This car is a certified pre-owned car and purchased from an actual GMC Dealer so I thought I was making a wise decision and would run into any issues. I purchased my car and drove home. I was in the shop 2 days later. The motor in the A/C blew out. I thought, no problem, I would have no issues having it repaired since it a certified pre-owned car. I get the dealer in my hometown Fresno Buick and GMC dealer only to find out my car was never registered as a certified pre-owned car.So I had to go through the process and a few days without a car with A/C in 95 degree heat. Since then I have been in the shop month after month with issues with the car, 12 times to be exact. This car has been a headache since day one, literally. From motor mounts, control arms, bushings, electrical issues and a banging noise under the driver floor and a clank when I turn my wheel to make a U-turn which I have been told that its normal for these cars. I have finally decided to do some research about purchasing a Lemon Car and found GMC Lemon Law. I opened my case June 5, 2018. It has been about a month and a half and I have not seen any progress with my case. Laura (not sure of her last name) has been the one to handle my case. I called her twice before she finally called me back 3 weeks after I filed my case. She said she was sorry but has had a hectic few weeks. Which meant she had not even started my case. I contacted GMC Fresno and MaryAnn (the office assistant) showed me that she first contacted them on June 20th. 15 days after I opened my case. Since then Laura has called back and will return calls when I do call but basically to tell me that there is no progress. She is extremely rude, she cuts me off and will not let me complete my sentences, she raises her voice at me and states that there is nothing more to tell me and have a good day Mrs. **, have a good day and hangs up on me. She repeatedly tell me that it is not an overnight process. I completely understand that it is not an overnight process nor did I expect that but It has been 6 weeks and still has no new information for me. No one can tell me what stage or place in line I am. I ask to speak to a manager and she says she cannot transfer me but will put in a request, then she stated she did not because she called me back and apologized (so she knew she was being rude) so I assume she thought that I was fine with her horrible attitude. She has reacted this way twice and I am not going to allow that. I am not asking for a lot when I ask for an approx time for my case to be evaluated.I think I have been very patient with GMC as far as the hassles and inconvenience I have had to endure since purchasing my car from a GMC Dealer and was told it was a pre-owned certified vehicle. This car has been a hassle and in the shop on monthly basis since I purchased it, literally the next day after I purchased it. GMC should be ashamed that a person has to turn to GMC Lemon Law in the first place and then has associates such as Laura working for them. Also, I have tried to have this handled with the GMC dealer that I purchased it from which was Dutton Buick and GMC dealer in Riverside California. Alexa, their shop manager told me to drive it to them and they would look at it for $159.I explained to her that I live 5 hours away and all the stress and cost Ive already had put into this car because it was not inspected properly and she basically told me, the cost of the inspection was my responsibility and It was up to me if I wanted to drive it there. I have suffered enough with this car and now the suffering and unsatisfactory continues with the people they choose to hire. I cant express how much I am dissatisfied with GMC and how they treat their customers. I am requesting my case worker be changed, I do not want to speak to Laura again, she is unprofessional and rude and should not be working in customer service if she cannot handle frustrated customers, basically she cannot handle her job.I have requested twice for her to connect me with her manager and I have not yet received a phone call. I have also called in and requested a manager call me back through the customer service line and still have not received a phone call from anyone. My next step will be a lawyer and contacting the Automotive Bureau. I strongly, strongly would not recommend this company to anyone.

For those of you who are researching Acadias for your future car, I would like to share that my 2014 Acadia Denali has been to the dealer 5 times for repairs/replacements parts in the past 9 months. My car currently only has 13,600 miles on it. At 4900 miles I had the Vacuum Brake Booster replaced. At 8500 miles I had the Master Cylinder Replaced. At 8900 miles I had to have the car towed because the stabilitrak went out and they replaced the Brake Pedal Position Sensor. At 10,400 miles they replaced another Vacuum Brake Booster. And finally at 13,600 miles I had the Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Solenoid Valve replaced. All of that happened in the first 14 months of the car. I now own a very expensive car that cannot go an oil change without multiple repairs being made in between. GMC has been non responsive until my state DMV contacted them. It is so disappointing to purchase a car that has no integrity and then try to work with GMC who only will respond if I escalate to a legal matter. I would think GMC would be pretty embarrassed to know their car has had so many failures but they are not even interested. Who knows what my 2nd year will look like but I would have wanted to have read this information prior to my purchase. The dealer making repairs has been nice, but again it is a such a pain to go up there 10 times for drop off and pick up. I traded in my MDX because the Acadia had bigger 3rd row and other features I wanted but in the end I will take a smaller car than drive a car that I constantly have to worry will break again.

This is our second ownership of a GMC Acadia since it was rolled out in 200
This is our second ownership of a GMC Acadia since it was rolled out in 2007. As a family member of a former GM Employee, we purchased a 2007 GMC Acadia under the GM Employee program. That vehicle was plagued with problems. DVD player issues, fuel injectors, radiator, engine coils, trim rattles, the list goes on. The problems were so bad that the car was being taken to the dealership monthly and in some cases weekly. In 2009, we reached out to GMC at the advice of our service manager. GMC offered us 3 free oil changes for our troubles. Hardly a repayment for all the problems we had with the vehicle. To make a long story short, I contacted the BBB, filed a complaint and GM purchased the vehicle back as a Lemon. In 2009, using the refund from the buyback through the GM employee program, we purchased another GMC Acadia. This time the current 2009. We were told by the dealership that all of the issues that plagued the initial roll out had been fixed. This is certainly not the case. Again, we have had the same problems with the car being in and out of the dealership on monthly and sometimes weekly basis. Fortunately, they have all been covered under warranty until this most recent wave of problems.Several of these issues have put my family and me in great danger. Very early on in the car, when the fuel injectors broke, we were traveling home from vacation when the vehicle powered down on its own (to protect the engine) in the middle of a very busy freeway, I could not pull it over. We were stuck with semi-trucks racing past and my children crying in the back seat. All I could do was pray we didnt get smashed from behind while we wait for a tow truck. Another time is when the wave plate exploded in the transmission. I was driving my newborn baby home from the hospital! My wife, fresh out of a C-section, and my 5 day old newborn are stuck on a freeway because the transmission broke (which GM knew about because they issued a Special Warranty for its repair.)For the past month, my car has been at the dealership, due to catalytic converters that are clogged and needing to be replaced, then the timing chain needs to be replaced (which GM issues a special warranty to cover the cost) and now I am being told that the oil pump, pickup tube, and oil screen is filled with sludge and will cost me $1,600 to replace. I change my oil every 3,000 to 4,000 miles or when the oil gauge on the vehicle says 50% remaining. How on earth is there that much sludge. Turns out, after doing an internet search, that this is a common problem with the Acadia and there are pages and pages of customer complaints saying the exact same thing! All of which GM denies.GM knows the Acadia is bad. My service rep says he has never seen a vehicle with so many special warranty items issued on the car. My car needs to be purchased back as it is unsafe and unreliable and GM says they will give me $2,000. Sad considering I have given them 2 chances now. GM will not stand behind their products or do the right thing. They have forever lost a customer.
