The 2018 GMC Yukon is a full-size SUV known for its spacious interior, powerful engine options, and robust towing capabilities. It's part of General Motors' lineup of full-size SUVs and shares its platform with the Chevrolet Tahoe and Chevrolet Suburban. Here are some key features and specifications of the 2018 GMC Yukon:

Engine Options: The 2018 Yukon typically offered two engine options:

A 5.3-liter V8 engine with 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

An available 6.2-liter V8 engine with 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. This engine was usually reserved for higher trim levels.

Seating Capacity: The Yukon typically came with three rows of seating and could accommodate either seven or eight passengers, depending on the choice of seating configuration (captain's chairs or bench seat in the second row).

Interior Space: The Yukon was known for its spacious and comfortable interior, with ample headroom and legroom in all three rows. Cargo space was also generous, and the third-row seats could be folded down to create a flat loading floor.

Towing Capacity: The 2018 Yukon had a robust towing capacity, with the capability to tow trailers and boats, making it suitable for those with towing needs.

Technology: The Yukon typically came equipped with various technology features, including an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Bluetooth connectivity, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, available navigation systems, and an available rear-seat entertainment system.

Safety: Standard safety features often included antilock brakes, stability control, multiple airbags, and a rearview camera. Advanced safety technologies like forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and blind-spot monitoring were available on higher trim levels.

Trim Levels: The 2018 GMC Yukon typically came in several trim levels, including SLE, SLT, and Denali. Each trim level offered different features and options, with the Denali being the most luxurious and well-equipped option.

Four-Wheel Drive: The Yukon was available with optional four-wheel drive for improved traction and off-road capability.

Reliability: GMC vehicles, including the Yukon, are generally known for their reliability and durability.

Fuel Efficiency: While not the most fuel-efficient option in its class due to its size and V8 engines, the Yukon offered decent fuel economy for a full-size SUV, particularly with the 5.3-liter engine.

The 2018 GMC Yukon is designed for families and individuals who need a spacious and capable SUV with the ability to tow heavy loads. When considering a used Yukon, it's essential to research the specific trim level, engine, and features of the vehicle you are interested in to ensure it meets your requirements. Additionally, check for any recalls or maintenance issues that may apply to the particular SUV you are considering.

Thanks gmc. I bought a 2007 Arcadia it has 75000 miles on it and I now need a transmission. My car just stopped on the road. For the money I spent and from what I read this is an ongoing problem. I cannot afford 3500 dollars but I guess you could not care one bit. Thanks for all your ads telling me how great this car is.

Being a GM family, we have been loyal to the brand but the Acadia falls far
Being a GM family, we have been loyal to the brand but the Acadia falls far short compared to the companys other SUVs. There are 943 Technical Service Bulletins issued for the 2017 Acadia alone! Most of them are related to random leaks, failures with steering, suspension and brakes. As the principal driver, I can attest handling is not as stable as the one-size-down Equinox, although it improved noticeably when we switched to a better tire than what came with the car. Within a few months of purchase, the SUV developed a drive train problem, and it was difficult to find a dealership familiar with the bulletin issued by GM and knew how to resolve it. This is now a known problem, with over 300 registered complaints posted just for this particular repair. Another annoying and known issue: at the gas pump, the baffle in the gas tank causes the fuel pump to shut off after 3 gallons. The solution is to manually hold down the level on the pump, or it will keep shutting off after every 2-3 gallons, even when the tank is nearly empty. And then there are the myriad leaks, detailed in the complaints and TSBs…

In 2007 when the first Acadia came out, I fell in love with it and its body
In 2007 when the first Acadia came out, I fell in love with it and its body style. We bought one and had very few problems, other than normal wear and tear. When we traded it in for a 2012 Terrain, there were 115,000 miles on the Acadia. We should have kept it rather than downsize to the Terrain. The Terrain, was not a problem either, but after having it for 16 months, I decided that I wanted another Acadia, which is what we did a week ago tomorrow. Never having had any major problems with the first Acadia, I thought surely the 2014 would be better, 7 years later. However, I was wrong. The past weekend, my husband and I drove to Louisiana for a funeral. On our ride there, the car ran smooth and no apparent problems were recognized. However, while away, on our way to the grave site the SUV began to shake and jerk, also making loud noises. It felt as if we were on a bucking horse. After about twenty minutes of this, it began to run smoothly again. Later that evening, the jerking began again, just not as long this time. On our way back home after driving possibly the first 75 miles, the jerking began a third time. That time it only lasted for about 10 miles, and did not repeat the action any more. When the jerking began, the Stability Trac signal came on. We had had similar problems with the first Acadia, but that did not begin until we had put 60,000 or more miles on it. This new one, has less than 300 miles on it. My dealership has been gracious in providing us with a loaner. Although the loaner is also a 2014, it is an automobile and not an SUV. Due to the fact that I previously broke my leg and fractured my ankle on the same leg, four years later, as well as having had to have a total knee replacement on that same leg. The Buick that we have been loaned, sits very low, even with being able to raise the seat, Never having gone through this before, I expected to get the same type or a very similar one, to what I have been accustomed to driving. We have not had a chance to get back to the dealership and my salesman, but plan to do so today, to see if they can put us in another SUV. I have also looked online to see if the 2014 Acadia is one of those being recalled, but have not been successful in finding out yet.Overall, my experiences with all three GMC vehicles weve purchased over the last 10 years, have been excellent ones. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone. As a matter of fact, I praised the 07 one to my banker so much, that she went out and bought one two years ago after test driving one of her own. She is still in love with it, and tells me she rarely uses her previous car which she thought she loved before getting an Acadia. Those of you who have had horrible experiences with your Acadia, must be in the minority, because rarely, if ever, have I heard an Acadia owner speak negatively about it. Friends of ours who had an Envoy, recently bought an Acadia after riding in ours. Sorry about your problems, but I would think you are the exception, not the norm.

My new Acadia has been torn apart at the dealership now for weeks. Bought my 2017 Acadia SLT in May. Loved the drive such a great & comfortable SUV. Then the spotting started. I had been noticing the vehicle leaving spots on my driveway. I really was trying to convince myself that it was just A/C water. Took my new baby in to find out what was leaking. The technician showed me. He said, I really thought I was just going to tell you it was moisture from the A/C. Instead what he had was a large puddle of fluid & a bad Transmission leak! WTF. This car has 4k miles on it.Now they have to rip out the transmission? Now that was 2 weeks ago. Today I call and Im informed that they found the source of the leak. The Torque Converter!!! GMC! My car is brand ** new and now its going to be in the shop for a few more weeks! Im trying to be patient... but something needs to be done! I want to give a negative stars. The car while running is great, but its already broken... and it wasnt even the best deal out there!!!

I bought this GMC Acadia in August of 2008. Brand new. I followed all scheduled maintenance recommendations set by GMC. At 78,000 miles while driving down the interstate, a hole blows in the side of the transmission stranding my wife and two young sons 3 hours from home. Naturally the factory warranty is up. BUT, I told my wife, This is why you buy from a company such as GMC, they will stand by their product, and help us pay for it. WRONG! GMC totally turned their backs on us! GMC customer service told me twice there is nothing they will do. They did tell me if I had taken it to a GMC dealer theyd look at it. Really? I cant drive it! Its at a private mechanic. What pay to have it towed again to a dealership so they can tell me they wont help me again then over charge me to fix it and make more money off me that I dont have??? NO WAY! The funny thing is, Ive read reviews of tons of people having this exact same problem with GMC and this Acadia transmission problem. Wake up GMC! I say this because not a couple months ago, I told my wife wed buy her a new Tahoe in July of 2016. NOT NOW! Im totally disgusted that a big company such as GMC, has no problem squeezing the little people of America!

Our GMC Acadia has been a lemon from shortly after we paid over $45000 for it new in 2008. The DVD/navigation went out first and two refurbished dealer units later, it still does not work to this day. Then we had the recall for the sunroof drains. Whatever the dealership did, it did NOT stop the water from pouring out of your headliner lamp in the rear. The rear window wiper will not shut off for days if you accidentally turn it on. Next we had the rear window fluid reservoir heater recall. That involved the dealer unplugging it to prevent a fire hazard. Next was the leak in the air conditioning condenser. After three consecutive annual recharge fees ($160 plus each), we hope the one the dealer installed will work next summer. The latest fun involves a dead battery. We replaced it with a new one just to find out it died in just a few hours. Trip to a dealer this morning revealed the dead battery was because of extensive water corrosion to the interior fuse panel. The source of the water is from the first recall issue of the water leaks from the sunroof drain tube defects. The dealer said we should fix the sunroof drain prior to putting the new fuse panel in or the problem will just repeat. Additionally the tech stated we should pay them to clean out the drain tubes on an annual basis just to avoid more electrical damage from water. To top things, the tech also advised us the drivers side axle was shot and that the repairs would total over $1500. We still own 4 GM cars and have been faithful for 35 years. In fact, our next purchase was going to be a Cadillac CTS, but after today we are done with GM. Count me in for a class action suit regarding the Acadia, there are several more issue but I have said enough for now.

2007 GMC Acadia - Just left home, driving along at 25 mph and my transmission stopped working. The car just stalled. Point blank. This really is awful as I have read that GMC hasnt issued a transmission/powertrain recall? Is this true? Acadias are not cheap and less than 65,000 miles, this happens? Oh and the kicker, GMC chat personnel tells me that I MAYBE can be qualified for assistance to pay for repairs! I am so angry I will never ever buy another GMC product again and will tell everyone my experience!

I have an Acadia GMC 2009 chassis No. **. From the mileage of 19870 Km and in 49800Km, I found that sound in the front with any bump and packet of power steering wheels and they told me that is a manufacturing defect. They replaced the packet of power steering wheels twice but it appeared again and the shock absorber they wait since the beginning too but the cost on me. Why is that? I did all the services in your agent and you can check from car history and I spent more than 150 SR in purchasing that car and 7382 SR in services in 28 months only and more than two months in agent for services. Now, I feel very bad about any GMC vehicles and it will affect your reputation here and everywhere and you will lose your customer trust. So find me a good solution please.

2009 GMC Acadia SLT - Well, lets start after I bought it new in 2009. 1ST day after getting home the Sun roof was leaking, would not seal all the way closed and the right headlight went out. Next issue was about 5100 miles when I went to shut the car off and pull the key out and it stayed running until I put the key in and out several times to shut it off. Around 25000 miles was 2 motor mounts that came loose or Broke they never said? DVD players crapped out shortly after. Both screens and the box under the are rest replaced. 3300 miles - the steering started making a clicking sound and squealing sound. This was the rack and pinion and power steering pump. 37000 - the car just shut down while driving on the interstate. 40000 - water pump went out. Around 45000 - started the loss of coil pack#2 in the motor. 47000 was coil pack#4. 51000 was coil pack #6, after picking it up after this replacement on the way home its started bucking again at 45MPH, guess what? Coil pack #1 is gone. This car has been the WORST US made piece of crap I have ever owned. GMC, I will never buy again nor will my children. GMC was purchased at Ferman Automotive Group in Tampa with Financing $58600.00. All repairs were done at GMC certified dealership in Orlando Florida.

I purchased a 2012 Acadia with 60,059 miles on it. I thought I finally found a DEAL. GMC/BUICK dealer sold it to me for 20,035. I couldnt believe it. Roughly 3-5K lower than any other dealers in this town for this car. I jumped on it... Loved the car. 3 kids... Hockey equipment... I was finally in a comfortable car that I can cruise around to every hockey rink in Minnesota.Day #3: Squeaking while breaking. Dealer gave me 4 rotors, 4 new pad. (They covered it). Day #6: Squeaking returns. Some sensor around the wheel was making it squeak. (They covered it). Day #37: Wiper control module goes out. Perfect. Its raining out. And I cant use my wipers. $189. Day #49: Alternator goes out. $775. Day #53: Struts leaking. Shopped online to get some at discount price. $180.00.So its been in the shop 5 times in 54 days. Thats an average of once every 10 days. Are you kidding me? I finally broke down and bought an american car. (Had Honda, Toyota, Nissan before). Im embarrassed to think that when the BOOM in 07-09 hit. And our auto manufacturers were going under. We bailed them out so they could make products like this. Its unreal. I love the look of the car. I love the interior. But Im not going to spend 1K every 50 days on this vehicle to have something else break. Ive contacted GMC and they have apologized that Im having this kind of luck with this car. They claim that I might have the one that always slides through. Hahaha. Are you kidding me. Hey sir. Thanks for spending 20K on your car. But you will spend about 10K in repairs because we have made a poor product.Should I sell it? Man. Id feel bad for the person that bought it from me, and has this problem. Why do you think Toyota, Honda, Hyundai all can be confident with the 10 years 100,000 mile warranty. Because they make rock solid products! GMC...I feel like you dropped the ball with this one.

Bought new in November of 2007. Have had major issues 3 times with the power steering. The automatic transmission was repaired twice and replaced twice with only 79000 miles on the vehicle. Guess what? The transmission is going out again after a total replacement about a year ago. Does GMC have a problem with the transmission? Oh yes!!! Will they do anything about it? Probably not. Will I do anything about it, Oh yes!!! I will NEVER buy another GM product again. The last transmission replacement was on my nickle after the extended warranty expired. GMC needs to expire. Oh and the radio entertainment system only plays in the right front speaker now, another common problem GMC refuses to acknowledge. This was a vehicle that we wanted to own for 200,000 miles. Maybe if we keep rebuilding it and a truck load of cash. Stay away from GMC. No run away, very far away.

I own a 2008 Acadia that note had 85,000 miles on it. My transmission went due to a bracket that broke, of course my warranty has expired, but prior to its expiration I had it in the garage twice, not even a GMC certified transmission expert could find a problem. Of course you are not going to find a problem, unless you open the casing and see that there is a cracked bracket causing mischief that is eventually going to cause a total loss. Upon receiving a letter from GM regarding the water pump shaft seal in my 2009 GMC Acadia, I called customer service to notify them of an incident that took place with my vehicle about three weeks ago. After my husband and I were forced to pull off of interstate 95 just south of Washington, DC during rush hour, we had to replace our water pump due to its lacking ability to function as well as belt that had been leaked on due to problems with the water pump. The letter from GM does imply that should the seal not function properly, the water pumps operating ability could be compromised. Prior to the breakdown, my husband and I noticed low coolant levels, monitored the levels and added coolant when needed. The engine fan continued to run even after the vehicle had stopped - a sign that something was not working right. I contacted GM customer service regarding the cost of the repair that, to me, seems a result of a malfunctioning part produced by the company. I was informed that because the vehicle was not repaired at a dealership, they were unable to reimburse me for the repairs. At the time, the vehicle was not drivable and was taken to the closest available repair shop. The closest dealer was almost an hour away. I am filing the complaint as I find it unfair and unjust that GM has not recalled the water pump shaft seal and instead is hiding behind the issue by calling it a courtesy customer service letter. After researching the issue, I discovered that I am not alone in believing that this part should be recalled. The letter offers this resolve: Your GMC dealer will check your vehicles coolant level and, if necessary, will add sufficient engine coolant. If the seal is compromised, the vehicle will continue to need additional and unordinary amounts of engine coolant fluid. This letter offers a cowardly attempt at patching the real issue (that is the malfunctioning water pump shaft seal). I feel strongly that this part should be recalled.

GMC Acadia 2008 - I had a problem with my steering making a squeaking sound and getting harder to turn. I took it to gmc to have it checked. They found nothing in Oct.2014. The noise got louder, the car currently has 25,095 miles on it. Now I am being told the rack and pinion is leaking and needs to be replaced. The car has never been in an accident and has had all of the maintenance kept up. I own a 2013 GMC Acadia. The issue is this - upon initial start and driving within the first 600 ft there is transmission calibration noises which range from a light bumping noise to a major thud. The other day I was driving most more than 30 km and the transmission make a thud - sounded like I hit a boulder on the road. We immediately pulled the vehicle over to look for an obstruction on the road. There was nothing - not even a pothole. The GMC dealer where we have our vehicle service and was purchased from have not been able to come up with any diagnosis for this problem. They have acknowledged verbal that there is an issue - however the service report comes up clean. What a joke. We paid and are paying real money for this vehicle and it should run properly. Repairs need to be done and yet nothing has been to say Im disappointed is an understatement. It seems to me that the challenges are the fact that no one in North America can actually build a reliable vehicle that will run for longer than a mop head from China. Maybe we should start manufacturing there - at least then we could afford to replace a vehicle every 20 thousand kilometer.

We bought our 09 Acadia last year with just 37,500 miles on it and it was fine for the first few months. Then the driver side window started getting stuck and will not always come up. The air conditioner will not blow cold or cool air all of the time, sometimes it gets downright hot. And the biggest problem started in March prior to going on a trip, the car started hesitating on the highway and it was hard to accelerate. Upon returning home we took it to a mechanic and it only did small hesitations, not enough for him to diagnosis the problem. Then we drove with it hesitating every other day. It stopped for a while and now you can hear the transmission issues loud and clear. I am having trouble backing up, it jerks when I do, and when I try to take off the you can hear the gear issues. And it has been sitting for almost 2 weeks now because I now have to shell out a ton of money for a car with less than 50,000 miles. DO NOT BUY THIS CAR, YOU WILL REGRET IT IF YOU DO!

I recently purchased a used 2008 GMC Acadia after scouring a trusted dealerships lot for a new SUV. I immediately fell in love with the features and look for the Acadia and signed my hard earned money away on the dotted line. Less than two months in, I now realize that this was the worst decision of my life. It drove smooth at first but I began to notice some transmission issues when accelerating. It wasnt noticeable enough to be a major deal as I am used to some lag in acceleration when driving heavier SUVs (I traded in a Toyota Sequoia). Now just one week after making my first payment my check engine light is as bright as day. As I scroll these reviews and look online for anger management counselors to keep me from flipping out at my local dealership and on the phone with GMC I am preparing a strategy to get rid of this vehicle especially now that I see all of the negative feedback. Thanks for all that have posted their experiences, I will never ever buy American or GMC again, back to foreign.

Cost me 3500.00 for replacement transmission. STAY AWAY from GMC trucks... or buy one and put 3500.00 aside cause youre going to need it!

I bought a 2008 Acadia with 35000 miles and the first month I was having transmission problems, the dealer fixed it. Then 8 months later, it had transmission problems again. They fixed it again then the rack and pinion went sour. I had to pay to get that fix 100 with the warranty. Then my warranty expires without warning. My engine blew. I keep up on my oil changes. The roof leaks when it rains. Unable to fix the car because no money. I am paying 450 a month for a car I cant drive. This car is a ripoff and I regret ever buying it. Money pit is the word and they should recall these cars, but it will be cheaper to pay people in a class action suit than recall them. I hate this car and when I do fix it, I will trade it in a heartbeat. Oh and before the engine blew, the transmission was giving me trouble again. Lemon law should apply to this piece of junk.

I bought my 2009 Acadia new - I bought the extended warranty... Too bad I dont still have it now that my transmission has failed (Like MANY others). This car has been to the shop so many times, they all know me by name. Ignition coils all failed, and failed again, timing chain stretched (and now the transmission).. I also have an engine light on with an exhaust system problem. It goes on and on. I once loved this vehicle, but it has turned into the BIGGEST MISTAKE I have ever made in a car purchase. I can honestly say that after having 3 other cars purchased new, this has been the most troublesome piece of junk of all. I am so disappointed, especially after reading all of the complaints and problems here. I would NEVER EVER endorse the purchase of this vehicle. I am waiting patiently for the day I get rid of it--and will likely get nothing much in trade--theyre on to you GM.

We bought our Acadia in the summer of 2017. Within 2 weeks of owning it we had to take it to the shop for motor and catalytic converter issues. Long story short, we have now owned the car for two years and have only been able to drive it/ have it parked in our driveway for 6 months. Those 6 months arent even consecutive, more like the weeks in between shop visits. During those visits numerous motors were put into the car along with new parts to whatever they could see needing fixed. At first we thought it was the shop doing a bad job but after the THIRD shop we visited, it became clear to us it is something with the car and not us. Every mechanic we have talked too says the motor for the Acadia and a couple other GMC/Chev models just don’t last past 32,000 miles. We cant even get rid of the vehicle due to the never ending check engine light and its constant engine light led to it failing inspection making the car undrivable (eventually we did get a passed inspection). Our last visit had the car pulling up 19 error readings, most involving the Transmission and Motor. There is no end to the problems on this vehicle and we have barley driven it.

I purchased a 2009 GMC Acadia in July of 2011. Since then, I have had major issues with the car. I took it in to get serviced at GMC Baytown where I purchased the vehicle because it was running rough. When I got up to 70, the car would surge and vibrate to the point that I thought it was going to completely die on me. They fixed the car after 3 weeks of having a rental and poor communication from them. I got the car back and it was not fixed; it did the same thing before I even got it home. I live in Hamshire, Texas, so I was driving over 30 minutes to the dealership for service. I again took the car back and they changed more parts and again, it was not fixed. After trip 4, they finally realized it was the engine coils. After so many problems, I asked the dealership to buy back the vehicle for my current balance and they were very rude and talked horrible to me. The owner even said I was lying about his salesman Scott not calling me back after 10-15 phone calls about a new vehicle. It was so bad my husband went to get the vehicle and made them apologize to me. The salesman Scott did apologize and stated, Im sorry for not calling you. I have no excuses why I didnt call. I know you are aggravated about your air conditioner being out and that is understandable. He didnt even know why my car was even there. Then the next day, my power steering went out and they refused to look at it and told me to take it to another dealership because nothing they worked on could have affected it. I took my vehicle to another mechanic and we found that a piece they had worked on was broken and replaced it with a drinking straw! My car is still broken.

I purchased my 2014 GMC Acadia Denali from Dutton Buick from Riverside CA.
I purchased my 2014 GMC Acadia Denali from Dutton Buick from Riverside CA. I traveled to purchase my car because I was unable to find exactly what I was looking for in my hometown. I drove 5 hours from my hometown. This car is a certified pre-owned car and purchased from an actual GMC Dealer so I thought I was making a wise decision and would run into any issues. I purchased my car and drove home. I was in the shop 2 days later. The motor in the A/C blew out. I thought, no problem, I would have no issues having it repaired since it a certified pre-owned car. I get the dealer in my hometown Fresno Buick and GMC dealer only to find out my car was never registered as a certified pre-owned car.So I had to go through the process and a few days without a car with A/C in 95 degree heat. Since then I have been in the shop month after month with issues with the car, 12 times to be exact. This car has been a headache since day one, literally. From motor mounts, control arms, bushings, electrical issues and a banging noise under the driver floor and a clank when I turn my wheel to make a U-turn which I have been told that its normal for these cars. I have finally decided to do some research about purchasing a Lemon Car and found GMC Lemon Law. I opened my case June 5, 2018. It has been about a month and a half and I have not seen any progress with my case. Laura (not sure of her last name) has been the one to handle my case. I called her twice before she finally called me back 3 weeks after I filed my case. She said she was sorry but has had a hectic few weeks. Which meant she had not even started my case. I contacted GMC Fresno and MaryAnn (the office assistant) showed me that she first contacted them on June 20th. 15 days after I opened my case. Since then Laura has called back and will return calls when I do call but basically to tell me that there is no progress. She is extremely rude, she cuts me off and will not let me complete my sentences, she raises her voice at me and states that there is nothing more to tell me and have a good day Mrs. **, have a good day and hangs up on me. She repeatedly tell me that it is not an overnight process. I completely understand that it is not an overnight process nor did I expect that but It has been 6 weeks and still has no new information for me. No one can tell me what stage or place in line I am. I ask to speak to a manager and she says she cannot transfer me but will put in a request, then she stated she did not because she called me back and apologized (so she knew she was being rude) so I assume she thought that I was fine with her horrible attitude. She has reacted this way twice and I am not going to allow that. I am not asking for a lot when I ask for an approx time for my case to be evaluated.I think I have been very patient with GMC as far as the hassles and inconvenience I have had to endure since purchasing my car from a GMC Dealer and was told it was a pre-owned certified vehicle. This car has been a hassle and in the shop on monthly basis since I purchased it, literally the next day after I purchased it. GMC should be ashamed that a person has to turn to GMC Lemon Law in the first place and then has associates such as Laura working for them. Also, I have tried to have this handled with the GMC dealer that I purchased it from which was Dutton Buick and GMC dealer in Riverside California. Alexa, their shop manager told me to drive it to them and they would look at it for $159.I explained to her that I live 5 hours away and all the stress and cost Ive already had put into this car because it was not inspected properly and she basically told me, the cost of the inspection was my responsibility and It was up to me if I wanted to drive it there. I have suffered enough with this car and now the suffering and unsatisfactory continues with the people they choose to hire. I cant express how much I am dissatisfied with GMC and how they treat their customers. I am requesting my case worker be changed, I do not want to speak to Laura again, she is unprofessional and rude and should not be working in customer service if she cannot handle frustrated customers, basically she cannot handle her job.I have requested twice for her to connect me with her manager and I have not yet received a phone call. I have also called in and requested a manager call me back through the customer service line and still have not received a phone call from anyone. My next step will be a lawyer and contacting the Automotive Bureau. I strongly, strongly would not recommend this company to anyone.

We too had to put in a new transmission as well as problem with steering wheel and stability track. We have put in close to $7,000 into this car that we paid $42,000 custom ordered. I thought at first it was because ours was being built when GMC went on strike but after reading comments thats not the case. Now we just find out that the piston is shot and we now have to put in a new engine with not even having 200,000 miles on it! This is crazy. GMC should be reimbursing us for this cost. The sad thing is I love the style and comfort of it just not all the extra money we have had to put into it due to GMC poor engineering. Please if anyone knows of a class action suit against them for this let me know. This is not right! They know they have a problem with it and wont make things right.

I bought my 2008 Acadia brand new. It has been 95% trouble-free. Small problems, most covered under warranty. Now, with just under 60,000 miles, the transmission has gone bad. My dealer says it will cost $4100.00 to replace with a remanufactured one. I am just sick. This is a $45,000.00 car now worth $13,000. I have been so proud of this car and received so many compliments. It has been a joy and comfort to drive. With all of the bad press and obviously serious manufacturers flaws and cover ups, I am afraid to even consider buying another Acadia.

The engine switched off while I am driving my 2010 Acadia on the 2nd of September 2012. Fortunately, I was driving in a service road on low speed so I handled the situation. However, I recovered the car to Ras Al Khor service center where they kept the car for over than 6 working days to resolve the issue, which is as per their diagnoses was a wiring problem led to electricity short in the car. They handed over the car to me on 10th of September under supervision of Mr. **, delivery coordinator who confirmed that the issue is resolved. However, last Tuesday, 2nd of October, I was driving my car when the engine switched off again without any sign. I would assure you that it’s only my good luck that I wasn’t driving my car on high speed and I luckily handled the situation in both incidents. I really lost the trust in my car which I directly bought from GMC and did all the services through your service centers. Mr. ** (the service manager) assured me that he will personally take care of my car problem and he will call me back, which he didn’t. And till now, nobody called me and all I got are false promises.

We bought a used 2007 Acadia, I love it. I needed the roomy SUV. I have twin granddaughters, 2 yrs old, that I watch while their parents work. I also take my 80-yr-old parents where they need to go, so I needed the room. My Acadias AC quit!! I didnt need that. I took it to the dealer where I bought it, they said my ac line had rubbed against a bracket and had a hole in it. OK, I thought it couldnt cost that much to replace a line, Wrong!!!! The line is in behind the motor, against the firewall of the SUV and that they would have to pull the motor to get to it!!! COST: estimate is over $1500!!! I cant afford that. I retired the day before from driving a school bus, no way can I afford that. The next day I took it back to the dealership to trade it in. I gave $14,500 for my SUV just 5 mo ago, so I thought I had paid enough on it to at least get pay off, Not!! They offered me $9,600 for it because they would have to fix AC!!! So far, I havent fixed the AC, I will have to rent a vehicle to take my parents on vacation in Sept. This is just crazy. If anyone else has had this problem, please let me know if there is a better solution to this problem.

I bought my Acadia 2008 model from Bin Hmoudeh dealership (Abu Dhabi - United Arab Emirates) and had done just 70,000km. The transmission got stuck on the third gear and dealership made a complete overhaul to the transmission. I am blessed because I have extended the warranty for five years, else, I would have had to pay for the repair which cost around USD 6000. The dealership has given another year of warranty for the transmission until November 2013 or 20,000km. I love my Acadia and I am worried for such an incident to happen in a year or so. Other owners have advised me to sell the car! I cannot believe that a GMC car maintained at the dealership can have such a failure and below 70,000km! I seek your advice on such an incident bearing in mind that the Bin Hmoudeh dealership did what was expected from them. I have a concern related to the Acadia, reliability wise for the future. Should I sell the car now? Or can GMC assure me that such a breakdown will not happen for the next 50,000km or so? My Acadia is a front wheel (not AWD) and has been used in the city only!

After working hard for many years and striving to purchase what I thought w
After working hard for many years and striving to purchase what I thought was a top of the line vehicle - I purchased in July 2013 a used GMC 2010 Acadia SLT AWD fully loaded coming off a 3 year lease. I cannot afford a brand new one with a sticker of $45,000. The vehicle had extremely low mileage 33,000 miles. I wanted a larger, heavier vehicle with AWD to plow through the Michigan snow. I need a vehicle with low miles as I drive annually 22,000 per year. After one year of ownership, the vehicle had the typical Rack noise which is described in many forums was supposedly fixed by the dealer. This fix lasted one year and the rack once again is starting to thump at low speed turns. To fix this rack even though it was replaced a year earlier is $1000. In the 2.5 years that I have owned it I am now at 87,000 miles. I regularly changed the oil faithfully every 5-6,000 miles. I used synthetic oil as was told to me to do at the dealer. I did this because I was relying heavily on the car to last me to 160,000 miles or higher. That was not to be.4 days ago my husband took the car and the vehicle completely died on his way home. No lights, no warning, no nothing. We thought it was the battery and replaced the battery. You turn the key on vehicle to turn it over and nothing. My husband is not a professional mechanic but knows a lot about vehicles. He got under the vehicle to see what was going on and decided to try to turn the crankshaft -- it was completely seized. Yesterday the vehicle that I thought was finally one that was going to last now is going to cost at a minimum of $3000 to $6000 to repair. I am so upset and so frustrated with the way the Chevy/GMC vehicles have major issues with miles greater than 70,000. I dont know yet how we are going to pay to fix this vehicle. We are right now waiting on the official diagnosis from the dealer.Yesterday they called and stated it is for sure an internal issue and needed our permission to tear it apart. Once and if we fix it (not going to be able to afford the fix probably), I will never be able to trust the vehicle again. 2 weekends ago we had a basketball tournament and had 2 other children in the car with us over 100 miles away from home. Thank God this vehicle did not break down in rural Michigan that far from home. We are unsure if the root cause was the timing chain that seems to happen to these SUVs. I wish I would have spent hours investigating and reading reviews on this vehicle as I would not of purchased it if I had known this. I am very scared if we do decide to keep it that the transmission will go next.I had a Chevy Venture van which the transmission blew up at 80,000 miles and the whole car pretty much fell apart. Power sliding door stopped working, automatic windows stopped working along with the rear back wiper. I thought I would give another chance to GMC/Chevy to prove me wrong with a top of the line vehicle but I was wrong. My advice on these message boards is this - do not keep these vehicles more than 70,000 miles. They do not last. I have decided after the 2nd lemon from GM/Chevy I am going to try either a Ford Edge or Chrysler Jeep. I plan to purchase something with a better warranty than what GM and Chevy offer. GM and Chevy have lost my business once and for all.Updated on 02/23/2016: Today is February 23 and it is Day 25 since my 2010 Acadia blew up. After 9 days of diagnostics the final diagnosis was a spun rod bearing went in the lower end of the engine and it experienced catastrophic engine failure. A new engine will need to be installed if one can be located. After countless hours speaking with GMC and due to the fact that I am just shy of the 5 year mark --- GMC agreed to pay 60% and we pay 40% for a new engine. Total out of pocket expense will be around $3000.00. The dealership was kind enough to give me a rental car while this mess is figured out. Total fix for an engine swap is about $7500.00 for a vehicle that is at 87,000 miles. I am detailing the saga here of dealing with GMC and how many hours my husband has been on the phone trying to get this resolved. An engine was located and arrived at the dealer on Feb 16th. On Feb 17th we were told the engine that GMC agreed to split cost with us arrived missing parts. The dealer stated this was unacceptable and sent the engine back and requested a new one. After 22 days at the dealership we are still waiting on an engine. I believe engine availability is so limited right now because GMC is having to replace so many of these 3.6L V-6 engines. So the saga goes on. So the saga goes on. For something to happen in January – I am really hoping to have my car fixed in March some time! An engine was located and shipped to the dealer.

I unfortunately own 2 GMC Acadias a 2009 and a 2011. I bought them in the same year due to our old vehicles breaking down. I wish I had the old rusty vehicles back. I work on these 2 vehicles constantly. On the 2009 Acadia I have replaced the transmission, water pump, throttle body, radio amplifier, hood support, steering rack inner and outer tie rods, sway bars, strut assemblies, spark plugs, gas cap, and the list goes on. It is sitting in the driveway now since it has a jerking power issue when we dropped the kids off at school this morning. The 2011 has not been as bad yet but has also had a new water pump, and I cannot get the steering wheel to stop vibrating when driving on the expressway even after getting the wheels balanced rotated and anything else I could think of.

At 60,600 miles, just out of warranty, my coil failed. Now at 67000 the catalytic converter has failed. None of this should be happening in a well designed engine but we are told it is the cooling that causes this. Our mechanic said the carbon build up is extraordinary and to get rid of the car. I have 3 other friends who have 09/10 Acadias, and are all seeing similar issues (2 have coils fail). So its just a bad design. Shame, it was a pretty car and would have kept it for the long haul if it wasnt so poorly designed.

This is to update my review published 4/14/15 with great resolution. Thanks to General Motors recall on the Acadia Wave Plate issue I submitted a claim and after a few weeks with some negotiation I got a settlement last week that covered the cost incurred from having to replace the transmission.Thank You GM for the prompt response in my claim! This restores faith in your commitment to quality. I am very happy presently with this recall solution. I may soon be in the market for another vehicle and will again check with GM for possibly another purchase. I know there is still room to improve overall quality and reliability of products so I am changing my rating from 2 stars to 4.Regards, LB

Our Acadia has had a number of issues! We would try to put it in gear and try to backup and it wouldnt go anywhere. We would shut it off and let it sit and try it again, sometimes it would work sometimes wait and do it again. The wipers wouldnt work, the gauges would dance while driving or not work at all, the stereo would work off and on. While turning at speeds 50mph and above turning right only, it would start bouncing side to side only at a certain point of the turn. This would make you feel as if you were going to lose control. In the last couple days it would have power but when you try to start it nothing happens. We had a leak running under the dash into the heater fan. We was told it is leaking from the body above the windshield. We have taken to the shop many times and only repaired the fan motor to the heater. Loved gmc vehicles but think I will never do this again. GMC has left us needing a bailout of this pile they are willing to leave everyone with. They really should consider fixing their problem!

I bought my 2013 GMC Acadia new. I had warranty. I maintenance it including the transmission. I have had rear A/C replaced, fuel pump on engine, 4 fuel pumps on the gas tank, accelerator sensor/pedal, the paint rubbed off. This week without warning while driving 65 mph my transmission failed. I heard a clunk and my vehicle died. I made it off the road. It started and would not stay in 3rd gear. Took to dealership and they said they would see what they could do for me. It is dead (catastrophic failure) and out of warranty. I have made 4 years of payments ($700) and have 2-1/2 years of payments left. It is basically sitting in my driveway unusable. Cant get to my new job, cant take my terminally ill son to the doctors, etc. Im biting my nails as to what they will offer me.

2012 GMC Acadia Denali - I went into the GMC dealer to purchase a Yukon Hybrid. I was told that they were discontinued for the 2013 model year and was recommended to look at an Acadia Denali because it had more room than a Yukon and got much better gas mileage. Boy what a mistake! I had also been entertaining the idea of a Yukon XL (think Suburban) because I wanted to make sure I had plenty of room for my growing family. I was led down a path of cost savings on fuel with the Acadia. It was posted 22 HWY and 17 City. With our mixed driving, I expected to get on the worst day - maybe 17. Instead I get 13 MPG! They tell me nothing is wrong! Please! I rent Suburbans when I travel (I rent about 100 times a year!) and I consistently get 15 MPG or better - with so much extra room! Now I am stuck with another 30 payments for this lemon.

But at 42,000 miles the transmission went out, all types of other repeated problems, but was absorbed thru the extended gmpp warranty I paid for. Now right after my 95,000 mile warranty is up, Ive moved into my next round of problems. At 105,000, transmission control module goes out 1,200$, water pump replacement (free) and thermostat replacement 480$, front end rack & pinion and struts 600$, car shuts off, all types electrical system going crazy. Today Im told 680 for a fuse box. I love the style and idea of the acadia but the company and dealers and crooks. I have an 08 kia optima I bought new at the same time. It has 90,000 miles on it and all I do to it is change the oil and they gave me free lifetime oil changes for that!!! I WILL NEVER BUY AMERICAN AGAIN!!!!!

This car has been the worst thing that has ever happened to me! Problem after problem! Transmission replaced, continued to have problems, water leaks, actually water pouring in car from dvd player and interior lights, had recall years back, said they replaced tubes, paid for this same problem a few times, then got so bad and complained, they finally sealed it all up and replaced the headliner that was completely water stained! Radio went out due to water damage and I had to pay because they said it was the fuse box! Radio and dvd worked shortly, then back and forth with nothing. I have driven car for over a year with it working/not working. When it doesnt work, no onstar either! So a lot of good the emergency phone is to me! Towed back to the shop again today! Engine light. Running horribly. Put in reverse, jumped forward, rpms shooting up, sounds like something dropped into a woodchipper from under the hood. Oh and headlight is filled with water. First and last GM I will ever own! Its a pretty looking package, but its a pandoras box. GM is bankrupting my family! Thanks GM, youre the best!

For example, the main control switch to get windows down just stop working and I had only one option replace paying a high price. Everything is overprice since the parts to the labor $120 per hour. Later during the beginning my third year with the car the transmission stop working and it had to be rebuild. I wonder why a 3 years old car running 18 miles a day just go wrong with the transmission. 40000 miles after the repair the transmission went wrong for second time and the cost is about 4 grands to get it fixed. Last but not least, my radio stop working and the dealer just can as always replace the part for the high price of 600. I found a brand new radio online from another GMC owner for a lower price and when I connected it is LOCKED. Guess what $180 to unlock my radio. Why, didnt I paid for it. Why just nor releasing the code to the new owner? In this one it comes to my mind this example. Go to an electronic store (Best Buy etc.) and purchase a flat S. TV. Will you be happy if you move and your TV is locked and you have to call Sony and pay to unlock it. It just does not make sense for me. So I paid 36000 for a car that the radio is not my property. I am selling my GMC and I will never purchase any car from GMC. I recommend everyone to walk away from this company that does not respect costumer and it play unfair games to take your money away.

We have owned this vehicle now for three years. Three transmissions have gone into this vehicle, not to mention damn headlights keep blowing which is $160 to fix because the whole panel has to come out. The power steering pump went and now the car has shut down twice on busy highway. The GM dealer tells me because of low oil, after he just serviced the vehicle less than 3 weeks prior. A car shuts down because of low oil?? No oil light, no warning. We did receive a $180 bill for checking the oil and topping up. I threw the bill in the managers face. Seriously Dangerous that we plan a class action suit on GM for allowing and knowing such a dangerous activity to occur and risking an accident. The second time was with our young son driving in a busy city. Contact me if you would like further information.

My Acadias transmission went out on a trip to KC. About 4 hrs away from home. When it was put in Reverse it went in Drive & vice versa. Finally it went forward when put in Drive but RPMs stayed at 5,000, it wouldnt shift gears to go over 50 mph. I was on interstate. Top speed is 75 but people in KC drive A LOT faster. Im surprised my daughter & I got back to the hotel safe & sound. My insurance covered the tow to the closest shop. They would only pay $100 or less for the tow. I will have to drive the 4 hrs back to get it when its fixed. 8 hr round trip. Ill have to miss a full days wages or use my only day off for the trip. I couldnt be more upset. It was a Saturday when it broke down so naturally about every tranny shop was closed. I got a hold of 1 hardworking mechanic that was still at his shop to see if hed work on it. When I told him it was a 2008 GMC Acadia he said theyre known for bad transmission. I wish Id known that sooner. This is my only vehicle. I wasnt going to call someone to come that far to pick us up. My only option was to rent a car to get home. I have no idea how I will make it back to get the Acadia after its fixed & who knows how long itll be before its fixed. I cant afford a rental the entire time so Ill be without a car. How will I get to work to be able to pay for this? This just happened yesterday so I havent heard back from the mechanic yet. I will write another review about the exact problem & solution later. Im definitely giving GMC customer service a call tomorrow & will never purchase from GM again. Lots of people are having the same problem, I am with their Acadias. Ford here I come!!Updated on 09/23/2015: I was not able to find out what went wrong with my transmission. It was sent to my warranty company for them to determine the issue. They chose a rebuilt tranny to replace the first. The torch converter was bad. They sent the second rebuilt tranny. I was told the Acadia was fixed. I went to KC to pick it up 4 hrs away from home. It made it about 75 miles when the RPMs flew up to 5,500 & the engine lost power. I had to drive the other 3 hrs home with it in low & manually shift gears. Its been at another shop for a week now & I havent heard back from them. The company that supplied the rebuilt tranny will pay to have it fixed. The main issue is Im paying $350 a month for a car I havent been able to drive for over a month & the car I want to trade this pile of bolts for will be sold before I can get this thing fixed! I do not blame the mechanics or the rebuilt tranny company for all the trouble. I blame GM for a very poorly designed transmission!

Ive had constant problems with this GMC Acadia. It is soooo sad that consumers can get screwed like this & GM dont have to own up to their products... This cost people homes, jobs, stress, etc. Im looking at all of the complaints and wondering how are they getting away with this. I purchased this truck used in 2011. I thought ok, just 4 years old... Worst experience of my life. The next year, the problems started. New power steering pump, Sun roof constant leaks, destroying the interior lining. Automatic windows going out. My head lights & tail lights constantly going out. Throttle body Valve??? Dont ask me but it cost approx $1300 to replace... And the worst, my TRANSMISSION! I was told the TCM fixed it and the car started back running... Then it wouldnt go forward again... Was told the transmission again... At the same time, all the sound went out in my car, no radio... no onstar... no blinkers, etc... This is horrible... We have to stand up... Im hearing the same complaints. This car has been such a hardship... IF anyone has had any similar problems... please email me at **. Thank you!

I bought a 2008 Acadia a few years ago. I will never buy another GMC. When we first brought it home it had to go back so the whole rear end clutch system could be replaced. Then they said the tires had to be the same tread so the stabilitrak light would stay off and it still comes on all the time, and says service brake system until I add brake fluid then light goes off for a while. It makes a loud grinding noise on left turns and the dealership dont know why. Seems to me they dont have anyone that can figure out these Acadias and then I had no power steering and the power steering pump had to be replaced and when I picked it up from shop the shocks and struts broke. They told me the seals gave way after being on lift for six and half hours so I got stuck paying 600 for that. Now it keeps telling me transmission over heating let idle. And when I get gas it dont wanna start. I just give up and will be trying to trade in very soon.

I never paid attention to my expense on fixing the GMC Acadia 2009 since I bought it brand new. This car has been a pain in my rear end. Since I bought the car, I have changed the timing belt, put a new transmission, and two years ago, the engine stopped. The vehicle was towed to a GM dealership for repair. The mechanic told my wife that the engine is full of sludge and needed to be replaced. He also told my wife that the reason the vehicle was in a bad shape was because we never took care of the vehicle. My wife called me and explained what the GM service agent told her. I called the guy and had him pull the service record on the vehicle which was under my name. It was then that the service guy realized that since we bought the vehicle, they had been servicing the vehicle for us. I reminded him that whatever was wrong with the car was caused by them since they have been the maintenance personnel from jump street. He then fixed the vehicle and that cost us about 2000 dollars instead of 5000 dollars and change that they quoted my wife. Now the vehicle had check engine check light come on. We took the vehicle to the mechanic to figure out why the light came on. After their diagnoses, he told us that they had to change the Ignition coil, spark plugs, Intake gasket kit e.t.c. This whole thing cost me $1,999.51. Before I picked up the vehicle, the low oil pressure light came on. They checked the oil and it was full. They drained it, flushed the lines and storage place for the oil two times and after driving the vehicle for a quarter of a mile, the low oil pressure light came back on. They finally told me that it was a sludge problem. I called GMC and reported the problem for them to tell me to take it to the same GM group that told me two years ago to change the engine for a new engine. The kicker is that now that Ive paid off the note on the car, with a new engine it would have another 100,000 mile warranty. And it would cost me $7500.00 dollars to do that. GM knows what they are doing and they take our money and take us for a fool. I wish someone could advise on how to take this people to court and make them pay for their wickedness. We cannot continue to pay for junk.

I purchased a 2011 GMC Acadia with 25,000 miles. I never missed an oil change and updated within 3 years of purchase. The gas pedal became very stiff, causing the car to quickly accelerate. Need to be replaced. The fuel sensor broke and needed to be replaced. The driver side air modulators broke causing hot air to blow. Needed to be replaced. The driver side window control panel broke and needed to be replaced. The hood support rod broke. The radiator broke and needed to be replaced. The radio broke and need to be replaced. The air conditioning blows hot and needs to be replaced. The engine mounts all broke and needed to be replaced. The engine is now dying and was recommended by my mechanic to get rid of the car. He says I need a new engine. I still have a $7000 balance left on the car and it is worthless.

We purchased a 2008 Acadia almost 2 years ago and just recently had a problem with electrical issues. No longer under warranty, we took it to our mechanic and found the electrical box behind the glove compartment was full of water. He dried it out and wrapped it up. It ran fine for a week, then the battery mysteriously had a parasitic drain and would not start. Took it back to him and today he found the tubing that houses the electrical in the drivers door full of water. After reading reviews, Im sure a dealer will do nothing but take my money and not fix the problem. This is a design flaw and apparently GM is not stepping up to the plate to fix it. Funny that after almost 2 years the problem starts. We have loved our Acadia up until this point. We have a 2,000 mile trip planned, now what? Im certainly not very happy and not sure what recourse there is. Can a class action suit be filed or has one already been filed?

My car referenced below is currently dead since 12/15/2011. Diagnosis showed 3 cylinders compression pressure out of 6 is 0. Then they found that the engine is sludge.I brought the car to GMC for inspection on 9/28/2011. The car warranty expired on 9/17/2011. I have 3 questions: 1) Should the inspection procedure detect that there is a problem prior to the collapse of the motor? The car did run for almost 3000 kilometers post the inspection and prior to motor death. 2) Shouldnt GMC still fix this car and consider it still within the warranty? This is because (a) the car was inspected within 10 days of the warranty. The GMC dealer in Lebanon could not take it sooner. GMC dealer told me that they would still consider it under warranty. Also, (b) I really believe that the inspections done by the GMC dealer in Lebanon should have detected it. I cannot imagine the problem if done properly and diligently. I cannot imagine a great company such as GMC would have a bad diagnostic program. And (c) regardless of warranty, how can Acadia die after 30,600 kilometers (less than 20,000 miles), and GMC corporate people in the USA are not all over this lemon car?I would think that the GMC engineering community would be extremely interested in this case and want to learn all about it and come out with a very conclusive conclusion. Instead, the company is allowing a bunch of crooks and bad business/service personnel operate this GMC dealership. It is such organizations that create bad reputations for their mother company, because they put maximized profitability in front of quality and customer care.3) What can cause the death of the Acadia car within 20,000 miles? I brought the car for inspections and oil changes at 11530 kilometers and 27,651 kilometers. Please look into this and take a disciplinary action against your Lebanese GMC dealership and force them to fix the car asap. I expect great companies to act in an honorable way and to keep their customers happy and keep their reputation sky high. Please let me know, I am anxiously waiting,

Bought a 2008 Acadia SLT FWD used from a GMC dealer. Ironically, about the same time as two of our friends. So far, it has been a complete disaster. The worst car we have ever owned and our friends have had a never ending list of similar issues. It started with the little knobs in the car just falling off. The first to go was the lumbar support knob on the drivers seat. Then the airbag light comes on and off for no reason. The reverse parking system consistently flashes a message that it needs servicing so we have shut it off at about 60,000 miles. Beware: this car is heavy and it eats tires, rotors and brakes. We are at 98,000 miles and have had 3 sets of tires, new rotors and new brakes. To top that off, the struts and shocks needed replacing at about 90,000 miles. At 98,000 miles (today), we are being told we need $5,300 in repairs to the car for a water pump, transmission (please look on the internet for this before you buy. Their transmissions are terrible and shift poorly), and engine rebuild. Overall outside of oil changes, we will have spent over $8,000 in repairs on a car we have driven just at 60,000 miles which is horrible. The gas mileage on these is not great, we get just about 16.5 miles per gallon on this car. Did I mention the sunroof leaks more than the Titanic during the rain. It just pours in at the drivers sun visor. Bring a towel on a rainy day. If you think this is unique, think again. You can search Acadia leaky sunroofs and there are tons and tons of them. If anyone thinks I am exaggerating, just do some basic searching on the problems I have listed, they are common. There are a ton of service bulletins out on these cars for all kinds of issues. Again, do not buy one of these. I repeat: do not buy this car. Did I mention the air conditioning will just shut off for no apparent reason? Ours does.

Love the SUV however, it has fallen apart mechanically from the water pump to the Transmission and everything in-between. Many of the problems were known by GMC so they came up on recall except for the transmission which I fought them for and got a free one. Steering, brake system, cooling system, wiring harness, front and rear air, sound system, etc... If my wife wasnt such a fan of how it drives and sits up so she feels safe I would have dumped it.

Well another big repair needed for my 2010 GMC Acadia. First I had problems with the steering column. Then the core evaporator had to be replaced. Both were major repairs. GMC Paul Sur paid for most of it after I went on their website and complained. Now I need a TMC module and seal replaced. Need throttle service and fuel injector. Total cost parts and labor $1600! Called to get a breakdown for parts $734 and labor $509. Throttle clean $124.95, fuel induction service 139.95. Funny how I took my car in a year ago with the same problem. It was still under warranty. But they said that the codes did not show up at that time. Now its not under warranty and the codes showed up. Really? This is the third major problem Ive had with this car.

When we purchased our 2009 Acadia, it was the day they announced their bankruptcy. We bought anyway because we wanted to buy American and be part of the solution. We loved the midsize look and feel and with the captains chairs in the middle, it allowed our third child, not in a carseat, to get to the back row nicely. So this vehicle is very nice for its practicality and spacious feel for all riders given its smaller size.So the bad news. One recall after another after another. I cant complain too much about that, as long as they get it right. What I am angry about is that there is a transmission problem throughout the company. GM mechanics know this. They know the solenoids are crap, but keep putting junk in their vehicles so that we the consumer has to pay an arm and a leg to get a $65 piece replaced because it requires taking the whole engine out. This happened once at 65k miles, and I thought, well, I guess this happens because that is what the mechanic said. But now it is happening again one year later, a different coil this time. I refuse to keep paying for this is. This is a known issue and the company is doing nothing about it.If I have to, I will do something about it. I will go back to buying Mitsubishi and Audi like I have in the past. Never had any solenoid coil problems with those cars. Never had any customer service problems either. As a matter of fact, Audi has stood by their products even out of warranty because they felt bad about a water pump that went bad. Lets see if GM steps up and takes care of those that took care of them in their darkest moment.

She finally stopped when the car hit the Walmart store outer wall. My daughter was in the car with her at the time and witnessed the entire incident just as described above. This was a $5200. We purchased our vehicle new and have been pleased with it except the transmission. It never, ever sounded right when shifting. This vehicle has only 55,000 miles. We were on our way to Wisconsin to visit family recently when, after shifting into reverse, we heard this very loud noise. We thought we hit something but found out quickly that it was the transmission. After discussing what our best options were, we decided to have it towed back to our local dealer at a cost of $528. Then renting a car to return home, we received the bad news that the repair would cost $2000. We asked the dealer if they reported these kinds of repairs to GM and they said not when its out of warranty. We will think long and hard before we buy another GM vehicle and we certainly cannot recommend them to family and friends.

Purchased 2009 GMC Acadia with 50k miles in 2012. Has been in for numerous recalls and repairs since 2nd day after purchase. 3 times to dealership for leaking fuel which was from fuel injectors and faulty o-ring that led to cabin filling with dangerous gas fumes, 3 times to shop for ignition coil replacement where dealership ignored the ECM technical bulletin. Replaced #3 coil 3 times (it was literally melted), 1 failed actuator, 1 engine rebuild when dealership failed to identify actuator as issue, actuator replacement, complete power steering failure after it was simply serviced due to recall limitations. 6 tows in all. And it is now in shop for ECM and you guessed it. Ignition coils/spark plugs. How much did GM help? They offered $1500 towards new car purchase. Not even close to repair costs. How knowledgeable was dealership service department? HORRIBLE. Did not identify correct issues, upsold repairs, ignored technical bulletins, and wiggled out of recall replacement of power steering. My warranty that I purchased covered some costs but even with warranty and extended service plan, I have paid out over $6k in a 2.5 yr period plus been on side of road more times than I can count. Cannot trade in due to very little market value. Stuck with worthless car that is costing a fortune. It was obviously a lemon and GM needs to acknowledge that and extend bumper to bumper coverage or buy out consumers. At this point I am surprised that I have not caught fire, blown up, or wrecked when power steering failed. This is a dangerous vehicle and people should stay away from it. I have over 20 service tickets.

I owned a 2011 GMC Acadia for almost 5 years now with a 23500 miles on it, hardly used it due to my line of work which is always away from home. Multiple recall been corrected in which I think its ridiculous at first place, but I said, no worries, its being corrected in a way, thats good! Last week I went to San Diego to visit a friend with my family, driving there with no issue. When we head back home en-route to 101 freeway, it was drizzling a little bit that time, suddenly it chimed 3 or 4 times and wondering whats wrong, my instrument panel indicated stability track light on, reduce engine power and applied brakes, felt like I was drifting a little bit from a different lane, and loss engine power, kind a bit worry, but managed to pulled into the shoulder lane. As per the troubleshooting, turn off engine and wait for 15 seconds and start engine, nice! Stability light off with no issue except engine light on now. Managed to drive again for an hour just to head back home. Brought my Acadia to GMC service department to see whats wrong with the engine. It put out a fault code of P0700 and P182E pertaining to manual shift lever inside transmission shortening out. For 23500 miles I wouldnt expect that, and my warranty just expired last July, it cost me $1200 for that issue. Now, Im heading to Texas driving my Acadia, makes me wonder what discrepancy will my Acadia will call out.

I purchased a 2012 Acadia with 55K miles a few years ago and honestly it was the best riding and most spacious truck I have ever owned. I loved it until it started have random issues with engine light going off all the time and it was always another sensor that need to be replaced. Finally a month before the warranty ran out the engine light was reading timing belt (dealer said stretched and needed new at $3,000). Truck was running fine as I saved up the money for that. Then when I did bring it to the dealer to get new timing chain they told me the next day that it had camshaft engine failure and it would cost me $8,800 to fix it.I still owe 11,500 on it and trade in is $9,500. Ran fine when I brought it in and now does not run at all. Contacted GMC and they were very in telling me they would not honor the warranty that ran out a few months ago even though the engine and chain failure was well within warranty. GMC and the dealer agreed to discount the engine to $6,400 but that only puts the price were it should have been in the first place. Found some records at the dealers that says engine went in 2013 with 2,600 miles on it too. That for sure means GMC is well aware of this engine chain and camshaft problem but refuses to acknowledge it or take responsibility for it and that BUCK STOPS HERE... Small claims court here we come... Sorry for all you others out there that purchased a GMC product as they were a great company 15 years ago until they decide to go the route of Ford in 1975. December 18, 2010. Purchased 2011 GMC Acadia LT-1, Model ACA, for $39,363.19. November 2015 - Received the following notice from GMC: As the owner of a 2011 model year GMC Acadia, your satisfaction with our product is very important to us. This letter is intended to make you aware that, on some 2011 model year GMC Acadia vehicles, the throttle-position sensor may cause the engine to run rough, cause the malfunction-indicator lamp and/or an engine reduced power message to illuminate, and reduce the engine’s power. Do not take your vehicle to your GMC dealer as a result of this letter unless you believe that your vehicle has the condition as described above. General Motors is providing owners with additional protection for the condition described above. If this condition occurs on your 2011 GMC Acadia within 10 years of the date your vehicle was originally placed in service or 120,000 miles, whichever occurs first, the condition will be repaired for you at no charge. Our Acadia did not have the malfunction-indicator lamp and/or an engine reduced power message illuminate but starting in January 2016, the engine did start to run rough.January 2 – January 7, 2016. First Noticed Problems: Our Acadia engine was running very rough – idling, accelerating with unusual RPM’s, not running smoothly, stopped at lights and it felt it was going to die, etc. The Acadia has 60K miles on it. Brought the car to BTR (garage we have used for over 20 years, and 9 cars). BTR replaced four Solenoids, which did not fix the problem. After several more days trying to diagnose the problem, they suggested we have the car towed to a GM dealer that was most convenient, Classic Chevrolet. So we did.January 8 – January 25, 2016. Classic Chevrolet reported that the problem was the Catalytic Converter, and that they would replace it, under warranty. Apparently, this did not fix the problem. After researching this for several days, they were looking at a timing chain. Classic informed us that ‘needed to open the front end to further diagnose it. This was going to cost us $1,600 to open up the engine, and it could cost significantly more depending on what they find.’ Classic then reported they found ‘metal shavings’ in the oil, diagnosed the problem as “Catastrophic Engine Failure” and reported we needed a whole new engine, at a cost of about $7,700, on a 2011 GMC Acadia with 60K miles. Classic stated that since we had not had the Acadia serviced (i.e. oil changes, etc.) at a GM dealer, thus ACDelco oil filters were not used, we would be responsible for 100% of the cost. After we provided receipts for the regular maintenance required for an automobile, Classic stated that GM would pay for 60% of the new engine, and we would be responsible for 40% of the costs. The offer of us paying for 40% of the costs of a new engine is unacceptable. According to our Acadia’s owner’s manual we were not required, nor is it even suggested, to use ACDelco oil filters, and that according to the Federal Trade Commission, i.e. the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, it is against the law for a car manufacturer to mandate a specific brand of car product, unless it is provided at no charge. After we informed Classic of the above mentioned point, Classic Chevrolet stated they wanted to tow the car to a GMC dealership. So, it was towed to GMC Beck & Masten North. This is where the car was purchased in 2010.January 25 – Present. Upon receipt of the car, GMC Beck & Masten North first reported they needed to do their own diagnostic research as no paperwork was sent with the car. Furthermore, they stated the car started up fine, albeit it was running a little rough, but they would get back to us with further details as soon as possible. After over 2 weeks at this dealer, now the 3rd repair shop to be used, the service manager stated that ‘the engine looks good, appears to be well maintained. Our service records were good but he was waiting on GMC to see what kind of assistance they could offer. He also stated the oil looked good, and that he did not see any problem with the filter and/or using after market oil filters.’Finally, Beck & Masten stated the engine needs to be replaced – 5 of the 6 bearings were spun/gone – it would cost approximately $8,000, and that GMC would pay for 50% of the costs and we would be responsible for the other 50%. Again, this is totally unacceptable. Beck & Masten stated they would talk to their regional GMC representative and get back to us. Other notes during this process: This is 2011 GMC Acadia – purchased on December 18, 2010 – it has 60K miles on it – the problems started 5 years and 15 days after it was purchased. It is not stated in the owner’s manual what brand, or what specs are required, in an oil filter. We have serviced this car regularly since the date it was purchased – have provided all receipts to date. We have spoken to GMC Customer Service, (1-800-462-8782), during this whole process. We have been told to be patient 63 times. Industrial Distributors, supplier of the oil filters to BTR, called Classic Chevrolet, the dealer who originally stated the after-market oil filters were faulty, in attempt to investigate the filter scenario in more detail. Classic never returned phone call. General Manager of Classic Chevrolet, commented that he ‘had a hard time believing that after-market oil filters would cause catastrophic engine failure.’ We have been told “I understand your frustration”, 47 times. Beck& Masten, stated there could be two reasons that this many bearings in an engine would fail. 1. There was water in the engine, i.e. car drove through high water. However, they stated there was no evidence this ever occurred (which we also attested to), or 2. There was poor lubrication in the engine due to lack of oil. We have provided all receipts affirming the Acadia was serviced at regular intervals. We have further reported that at no time was there an indication that oil was low in the Acadia. Therefore, if poor lubrication did occur, any warning indicators in the Acadia did not work properly. The engine in the Acadia is a 3.6 LLT, is a Direct Injection Engine. This feature causes extremely rapid degradation/failure of the oil between changes, resulting in rapid degradation of cam gears, timing chains and premature failure of crank bearings. It is our understanding GM stopped using this engine in the Cadillacs, LaCrosses and Camaros. General Manager of GMC Beck & Masten, stated, unsolicited, that his recommendation for the future, whether it is a GM product or not, to have cars serviced only at a dealer, because it ‘carries more weight.” Commentary: Kind of interesting how a GM would suggest building your war chest for a potential fight with the manufacturer. Is GM building cars anticipating situations like this to happen on a regular occurrence? Several times, we asked Classic Chevrolet, GMC Customer Service and GMC Beck & Masten North for their diagnoses in writing. As of this date, nothing has been provided. Not once, have we seen any evidence that GM, GMC, Classic Chevrolet, and GMC Beck & Masten North, are working together to resolve this issue. Commentary: seems to be a Catastrophic Communication Failure for a Catastrophic Engine Failure! GMC, GM, GMC Beck & Masten, not to mention numerous auto mechanics we have talked to, all question, “Why was the car transferred from one GM dealer to another GM dealer?” BTR – it was explained to us that a catastrophic engine failure is a term used to describe a complete failure of the engine. 5 out 6 bearings spun would mean completely knock out the engine. If a bearing fails, you hear a “knock” or a “ping”, usually one fails at a time. If there were 5 bearings failed it had to be an instantaneous loss of oil and a catastrophic failure. If the engine ran on January 8th to check the catalytic converter, when did this catastrophic failure occur? On Jan 26th, after going to Beck & Masten, the engine started up but ran hard with knocks. I was under the impression with 5 bearings failed the engine shouldn’t even start. Beck & Masten sent this to us a little while ago: When we disassembled your vehicle, we found 5 spun rod bearings and scored cylinder walls. The engine (inside) was not dirty and the oil was clean. The oil looked to have been changed recently. Cause of failure is unknown. It will be necessary to replace engine to complete this repair. Commentary: Kind of sounds like a faulty engine to me!

Bought a 2009 gmc Acadia in 2010 that was supposed to be an execs vehicle. Paid over 50k when said and done. We have 17 pages of repairs already. Steering was replaced 5 times and is making the same clicking but gmc feels I should pay to fix it. Whenever we gas up the truck wont start. They force you to do all kinds of bs maintenance to keep your warranty which ironically never covers the issues or parts needed. In addition there have been at least 9 recalls in 5 years. Will never buy a Gmc vehicle again.

Like everyone else....My 2008 GMC Acadia is having transmission failure. AGAIN. This will be my 3rd transmission in this vehicle. My first replacement was 30k miles ago, and now its in the shop again. I had my transmission rebuilt last year because right when I hit 100k miles I started having problems. It ended up being everyones favorite, the wave plate. Now, they are telling me its the torque converter. Before this vehicle, I had a GMC Sierra which was covered under the lemon law due to serious brake problems. After fighting them for so long on that truck, they gave me this vehicle. What a nightmare it has been.I wrote GM an email with screen shots of many of the complaints in this forum. Along with many other complaints and stats that I found regarding the bad transmissions in these vehicles. I then contacted them via Twitter and phone. They told me they will pay 30% of the repair. Wow GM, how kind of you. I have had every problem documented, leaks in the vehicle, electrical failure, car just stopped running when I was going 75 on the 405 in LA at 11pm at night. That was fun.I am now fighting them on this transmission repair. This transmission should have been recalled. Worst part of it, this is just an old transmission from a previous Acadia that they rebuilt and are trying to charge me $2,800 for. Its not like they recalled it and fixed the issue, then built new transmissions. Its going to have the same exact wave plate issues, because its the same transmission! What dont they get about this? It has been such a battle with GM over the last 8 years. All I want to do is get as far away as possible from GM & GMC. They have no love for their customers and do not work hard enough to give anyone a reason to stick around. Their new CEO better start working double over time.

13 GMC Acadia Denali - The only issue I had in the 2 years and 51,000 miles was service side impact sensor. Im very happy with my truck and like the drive, ride and handling. I heard about issues on the earlier models but I could not be happier with mine. My previous truck was a 07 Yukon Denali. That was a great truck. I traded on a new Acadia since it was 50k instead of mid-60s. Both are good trucks. Love the power of the V8. Like the mpg on the V6.

My 2012 GMC Acadia, 45000 miles, 20 days under the 5 year warranty and the fuel rail fails. $1700 to repair and GMC said it that part is not under warranty. However, the fuel pump is, but not the rail to get the fuel to the engine. Ever hear of anything so stupid? Will carefully consider another make and model on my next purchase after that sting.

Our 2009 GMC Acadia had 60,000 miles when it started having mechanical issues. The GMC Acadia had placed us in catastrophic danger as the engine shut down while we were driving at 65 miles per hour on the L.I.Expressway (New York) in the late evening. However, we luckily--by the grace of God--was able to verve (steer) off the HOV lane without being injured to the shoulder lane. Many passing cars recognized our emergency situation and provided space for us to move from the HOV lane. We were stranded for about 2 hours in the late evening waiting for a tow truck. The next day, we had the car diagnosed & serviced. The technician informed us that cylinders 3 &5 were misfiring. The coil pack was blown. The water seeped in the engine and battery areas. The electrical system was comprised by the water seeping in through the front windows and front hood.In addition, the Bose stereo, navigation system, back up camera were comprised by the electrical system problem. The repairs will cost approximately $5,000 to $8,000!! This is appalling & disgusting. The warranty has ended and the repair costs are beyond our means. We are demanding GMC to buyback these LEMON GMC Acadias, as it obviously has many design flaws &mechanical flaws. SHAME ON GMC to expect consumers to continually be disrespected by design & manufacturing mistakes.

Reading reviews of the 2008 GMC Acadia... Water leaking into the car when it rains. Transmission failure. Sound system failure. Electronics issues. Grinding in steering. Now my alternator ($1000 to replace at dealer)! And the service lights keep coming on - the dealer wants $200 just to tell me why! This car has been a lemon since the day I bought it. The only reason I dont get a new vehicle is because I own this one and I dont want a car payment - but the repairs Ive paid for once the warranty expired are probably as much or more than a car payment would be.

I had oil in my car. My warranty was done. Now Im stuck with a big car note and a Lemon car. I called GMC. They wont stand by their product. Stay away from buying an Arcadia. Read all the reviews before. My mistake was not to read the reviews and to buy an American car. DONT DO IT!!!

I bought a 2007 GMC Acadia 2 years ago with a extended warranty. The mileage was low only 82000. My mileage is only 155000 now. But about 5 months after I bought this truck its been one thing after another. First my power steering went, then my headlight burned and melted the case and I had to replace the headlight case, which is very expensive I might add. And then my motor went. My mechanic called around to a few places and everyone says the same thing that its known to happen with the GMC Acadias. If I had of known this when I bought it I would have left it on the car lot. I would have to agree with people they look good and lots of room, but if you want a reliable vehicle and not to expensive to repair, DO NOT BUY A GMC ACADIA. You will be so pissed off and GMC does not stand by their product.

I bought a 2008 GMC Acadia in March of 2011. It was my biggest car purchase and I was very excited to buy it. It was everything I wanted and more, with lots of space for my family of 7 and many great accommodations. Last year, in Aug. 2012, I began having issues with it, water leaking, engine lights coming on and random cut offs. I took it to the dealer and they wanted me to replace the trans, which is very costly. I did not. My husband and I had the trans flushed and everything seemed to be okay again for a few months. When spring came around and rain came down, more problems began. Every time it rained, my battery was drained. Eventually, the car just stopped working. We took it to the dealer numerous times, but no one listened when I explained my thoughts that the leaking had something to do with the problem. We replaced two batteries in a week. The dealer claimed they couldnt find anything wrong with the car, but when I went to leave, the car went into battery saver mode so I took it right back. The service advisor was clearly annoyed and ignored me for the first 15 minutes I was there. I again explained my concerned that the rain and water that had leaked into my vehicle had something to do with the electrical issues I was having. He told me the two things had nothing to do with each other. A few days later, he calls and tells me that there was a leak in the front caused by the sun roof and that was causing the issues. We paid to repair that and he said that we were good to go. About a week later, the problem happened again. The dealership had our car for more than ten days (mind you, I am 7 months pregnant right now with a high risk pregnancy). This time, we worked with a person a friend recommended, and they repaired the rear moon roof at no charge for all of the inconvenience. I was very thankful for this. Unfortunately, three days and two nights rain later, my car will not start again. How is this still happening and why is this not being recalled? I cannot afford to put myself and my family at risk every time I get into my car.

I own a 2008 GMC Acadia. Bought it brand new with just 9 miles. My problems
I own a 2008 GMC Acadia. Bought it brand new with just 9 miles. My problems started at 70,000 miles. The first problem was even though my car is kept in the garage at home and work, it was left outside one night when it rained. My car to say the least was flooded. There was water pouring out of the vents of every single orifice possible and the floor boards were soaked. It was the fault of a part in the sunroof. When I called the dealer, they said, Oh yeah, there was a recall but not on your Acadia because your car was made in Texas and not Michigan or vise versa. Called GM. After yelling and screaming, they covered. It happened again 8 months later then again 10 months from that. I had to pay for the one after 10 months because the year warranty on the sunroof parts were up. Then came the transmission. After 77,000 miles, the transmission went out and I was on the side of the road... The dealer immediately calls a wrecker and gets me a car... I was thinking ok, this is where the dealer just flushed out the transmission and they messed something up... Here I am at 65,000 miles later and it needed transmission work again!! I called GM three times and they were able to pitch in $400 to help. Whats crazy is the dealer first told me $4800 before I spoke to GM, then changed it to $1400 after GM agreed to help pay $400. Now the sound system has completely gone whack. My car is making a static sound when the radio is off and when the car is off, my car makes a loud ear piercing popping sound from the speakers with the radio and car is turned off. My car loses sound completely - no radio, no blinker noise, no dinging sounds whatsoever including OnStar like 10 times a day... It just cuts off and on all the time at random. Ive been like some of you, a LOYAL GM owner for years and years. Ive never been so put off with a car before in my life and let me tell you, I owned some crappy GMs before, but this tops the list. For the gentleman that said you folks are the exception for GM problems with Acadia obviously works for GM and hasnt bothered to read the 100s and 100s of GMC Acadia forums out there on tons of other websites. GM does have a problem with the Acadia model and they are refusing to face facts. The one that I think is priceless is how they say there is a recall (safety seat belt light latest one and my car has this problem too) and yet your 2008 or 2007 GMC Acadia is not part of the recall... That one is priceless. GM is notorious for saying they have recalls but oh no, not on your car. Remember its on the car that was made at the other plant... LOL. I would seriously hope the lady in charge now with GM would read these forums but we all know that is not happening. Hear no, speak no....blah, blah, blah. Im done with GM... and I really hate that.

I have a 12 GMC Acadia Denali where the cheap antenna base cracked and came loose in a dealership car wash even though they removed the antenna first. I do not believe its the dealers fault but a factory defect or poor design. The service manager said he sees several a week come through with this issue. I tried to work with a GMC Factory rep; no help at all and blames the Stubby antenna that had always been removed before washing. My 4th GMC, but more than likely my last since they dont stand behind their products or dealerships. The dealership will cover 1/2 the cost of repairs, which is almost $500.

2009 GMC Acadia was exactly what I wanted...so I thought! Little did I know that I would be driving with my 5 year old in the car when it essentially shut off in the middle of the Interstate at less than 2 years old! That was the beginning of the END. It was year 2011 and this amazing car became nothing more than a Lemon... It needed a NEW ENGINE. I knew I was in for it and I was right. All of these posts are exactly what Ive been through. I dont remember all of the correct descriptions but StabiliTrak, steering pump, motor mount are just a few to mention. I was hoping to keep the car for ONE more year...but now the car wont shift...wont go. Guess what? Wave plate fractured sending pieces of ground metal teeth throughout the transmission. Refurbished transmission needed for $4,800 or new for $6,800. I was happy to receive the wave plate recall letter in the mail but lucky me the tranny died after 120k miles so its not covered. I called GM to discuss a better cost for a transmission.. I said Im not asking for a new car. Im not asking for a new transmission. I simply needed my GMC Acadia to function through 2015 and $4,800 is a high price to pay considering the thousands already invested in repairs. Theyve known about the so-called wave plate issue for a long time...before my car passed the 120k mark.

My 2009 GMC Acadia has had 4 of 6 cylinder ignition coils go bad, 2 of 3 catalytic converters, power lift gate 3 times and countless other recalls. Including the heated washer fluid option where the fix was just to take it out. On the fourth coil going out I had enough and asked the dealer to contact GM to see if there was anything they could do. In my opinion a 66% failure rate is excessive. The response from GM was that they would do nothing since the car is outside of 36,000 miles. I had them escalate the request and just heard back from GM. The rep that called me said that it was there was nothing that they could do since it was outside of 36,000 miles. When I asked if it was normal and ok for GM to have a 66% failure rate the rep told me that he did not even know what the part was and did not know if it was normal or not. So I am driving the dealers courtesy car for the second week until I get an answer that makes sense. Will never buy a GM car again.

In April of 2012, my husband and I decided to purchase a brand new 2012 GMC Acadia. Since then we have been taking this car to dealership for different problem. First, we felt the engine shake multiple times, especially in the morning when we first start the car and sometimes when shifting gears, dealership said no problem with transmission. In less than 2 years, our headlights went out and that had to be replaced. Buttons on dashboard already peeling off, gas tank sensor is off, it stops filling up before tank is full. It has been raining in California, 2-3 days of rain, we start the car, and there is completely no sound coming out of the speaker. We take the car to the dealership and they say that water accumulated somewhere in the sunroof and did not drain and caused electrical to short circuit. They want $1600 to fix. I really thought this car was great, size was perfect for my family, but unfortunately, I was wrong.

So got the Acadia and fell in love, it fit our family of 6 perfectly! Soon after I noticed the passenger front and back windows would hesitate to roll down sometimes...over looked it because I was so happy to have it, then came the air bag light - it was a known issue but no one could do anything about it to clear it out! Now mind you I got my car in Jan so it was cold, now were getting into summer and running the ac more and it makes this loud screeching noise when its on low. I was told it was from water leaking in from the sunroof, GREAT! All these problems are bothersome but not so costly. The biggest problem came today. I was driving with my 2 kids, stopped at a red light, got ready to take off and it was like someone unplugged the car - it just wouldnt go. Luckily I was coming down off a slight incline so I was able to roll into a parking lot where the check engine light came on. And Im being told Its $2500 to rebuild the transmission and put a new wave plate in (the wave plate is what broke in the transmission causing the issue) but they cant guarantee it will last more than 10,000 miles because there could have been more damage done by the broken wave plate. They can give it a full check for $127 a hr or I could get a new transmission for $4000. Of course my warranty ended last year and there is no recall for this issue that so many people are having. I absolutely love everything about this car but whats the point of having a really nice car if you cant drive it and 11 months into it Im having all these issues. I will definitely be trading this vehicle in the first chance I get! GM is supposed to be the best of the best but thats definitely not the case. GMC Acadia is like a cubic zirconia, looks good but worth absolutely nothing!

Purchased a 2013 Acadia Denali, not even a year ago. Suddenly, dealing with major oil consumption. Within 100 miles been down 2-3 quarts low. Been in and out of a dealership 3 times now (still under power terrain warranty). Dealer tops oil off and runs it around, says its fine. This is only happening to me according to them. People, I cant stress enough, these cars have been a headache since 2007, and even years later theyre still seeing more time than needed at a dealership. We have done nothing but baby this vehicle since we owned it at 60k. Now has 80k. 20k miles for this thing to start failing? GMC has been NO HELP. They keep directing me to a dealer. Dealer is either overfilling it and letting the overfill burn off or is dumping some sort of miracle job into the motor to get it to quit. Run far away from these vehicles. Theyll do nothing but give headaches and drain your bank account.

When is GMC going to admit that they threw quality out the window when they built this vehicle. Recalls are done only when its life and death. Right from the start, my headlight harnesses melted. Thousands of similar complaints online but no recall yet. Steering column, timing chain and the list goes on. Now for the shocker. I took my Acadia to the dealer because I received a Special Coverage Program 14582. My vehicle ran rough and the check engine light was on. That is exactly what the Notice described. I also asked the dealer to inspect the front end and steering because there was an outstanding power steering pump recall. After a few hours, the dealer called me back with the news.As per the email, my 2009 GMC Acadia with 150,000 km needed: replacement of catalytic converter bank2 $722.10, replacement of pre-CAT/post cal oxygen sensors $451.41, fuel system servicing recommended $169.95, replacement of spark plugs $295.40, evap purge solenoid $124.32, replace both front struts $952.86, replace both rear shocks $456.00, replace one broken engine mount $248.42, replace water pump $513.50, perform four wheel alignment $129.95, replace rack and pinion assembly $1,583.24, replace right front lower control arm bushing(s) $416.05, replace left front lower control arm bushing(s) $416.05, replace left rear upper control arm $541.12, replace right rear upper control arm $541.12, plus three separate @120.00. Diagnose charges for the check engine light, an oil leak and steering and suspension came to over $9,000.00.Sorry for the long-winded story. I only accepted the repairs that I thought were important. It came out to just over $2,000.00 and the Acadia seems perfect now. Moral of the story is that dealership service areas will attempt to build you a new car if you let them. I think they wanted me to give up on this SUV and head straight for their showroom.

Ive just purchased this 2007 Arcadia four months ago. Was excited at first, but now really disappointed. Audio system isnt good at all, goes on and off. Now it been out for a month. All these reviews I been reading, people have the same issue and GMC not trying to make it right. Thinking about trading it already and not purchase anymore GMC. Because its sad the money they made off people and dont make an attempt to make it right.
