Engine Options: The 2017 Acadia came with two engine choices:

2.5-liter 4-Cylinder Engine: This engine provided a good balance between fuel efficiency and performance.

3.6-liter V6 Engine: The V6 engine offered more power and towing capability for those who needed it.

Transmission: A 6-speed automatic transmission was standard for both engine options.

Seating Capacity: The Acadia could accommodate either seven or eight passengers, depending on the choice of second-row seating configuration.

Infotainment System: The Acadia featured a 7-inch or 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, depending on the trim level, offering Bluetooth connectivity, smartphone integration (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), and available navigation.

Power Liftgate: Some trims featured a power-operated liftgate for convenient access to the rear cargo area.

Teen Driver Mode: This feature allowed parents to set certain parameters for secondary drivers, such as limiting audio volume and providing a report card on driving behavior.

Remote Start: Available remote start allowed the engine to be started from a distance, helping to pre-condition the vehicle's interior in extreme weather conditions.

Upgraded Interior Materials: Higher trim levels offered premium interior materials such as leather upholstery and wood accents.

Towing Capability: When equipped with the V6 engine and proper towing package, the Acadia could tow trailers of moderate weight.

Fold-Flat Seating: The second and third-row seats could be folded flat to provide a significant amount of cargo space.

Available Dual SkyScape Sunroof: Some trims offered a dual-pane sunroof that extended over both the front and rear rows, creating an open and airy cabin feel.

I am the owner of a 2008 GMC Acadia. This vehicle has approximately 78,900 miles on it. Due to transmission issues, which is still covered under my powertrain warranty, it has been at Cooper Buick GMC in Monroe, LA since last Tuesday, 5/29/12. I was informed that GMC will only furnish me a rental for five days. The rental was picked up on Thursday, 5/31. Today, I was informed that I must return the rental. I am employed and must have transportation. I feel that as long as the dealership is holding my vehicle for warranty work, GM should furnish me with a rental. I am highly upset about this. My husband and I were seriously considering purchasing another Acadia but unless this issue is resolved, we will never purchase another GM product and will make sure other customers, friends and relatives are made aware of this situation. We are not wealthy and a rental vehicle is not in our budget. This is creating a difficult situation for us. Please respond to this complaint as soon as possible.

We own a 2010 GMC top of the line Acadia with only 45000km on it, its two owner car (87 year old man gave to his daughter). Its never towed anything and has had regular maintenance. I was taking the Acadia on Oct 22/16 over to my mechanics to have him check the urgency of repair needed for the power steering seals (they are bleeding which seems to be a very common problem for the Acadia). Upon driving the mere 4 miles to his business the vehicle started accelerating on its own. On a level surface it was actually increasing speed and required constant braking to maintain speed. Upon putting the car in park it was revving high.My mechanic tried connecting to the computer which gave no error message, disconnected the throttle body to confirm there was no debris or anything to cause spontaneous acceleration. He also disconnected the battery and reset the vehicles computer which had no effect. I submitted an online ticket to GM Canada on Oct 23/16 to bring to the companys attention the issue. Ive been contacted twice by phone to give the VIN number (provided to them on the online ticket Oct 23, left a voice mail to the case worker Oct 26 and again to a customer service rep Nov 3).My mechanic has identified the issue as being the throttle pedal sensor and seems to have successfully fixed the glitch however has warned me that since it has gone at such low mileage is highly likely to fail again. Im concerned to take it for long distance trips as this is the third issue thats occurred with this vehicle and is likely to happen again. To date weve had to fix the front sprayer for the windshield and we have the expensive fix for the power steering rack and pistons upcoming. Im severely disappointed that a car with such low mileage has such issues and am worried what future issues are upcoming. That said my mother enjoys how it handles and is everything she wants with a SUV. I just wish it had less problems.

Bought my 2008 new, 42,000, love the vehicle at the start but it has turned into a money pit. First of all vehicle started to float all over the road. GMC dealership changed rack, rear shocks and numerous alignments. Tire treads wore out from the outside in. They couldnt figure it out. Local mechanic took rear struts out and bushing fell out. Two sets of tires later!!! Then last year timing changes went stretched. Needed to be replaced $4,000.00, now the passenger air bag. Time for it to go.

Reading reviews of the 2008 GMC Acadia... Water leaking into the car when it rains. Transmission failure. Sound system failure. Electronics issues. Grinding in steering. Now my alternator ($1000 to replace at dealer)! And the service lights keep coming on - the dealer wants $200 just to tell me why! This car has been a lemon since the day I bought it. The only reason I dont get a new vehicle is because I own this one and I dont want a car payment - but the repairs Ive paid for once the warranty expired are probably as much or more than a car payment would be.

We bought a used 2007 Acadia, I love it. I needed the roomy SUV. I have twin granddaughters, 2 yrs old, that I watch while their parents work. I also take my 80-yr-old parents where they need to go, so I needed the room. My Acadias AC quit!! I didnt need that. I took it to the dealer where I bought it, they said my ac line had rubbed against a bracket and had a hole in it. OK, I thought it couldnt cost that much to replace a line, Wrong!!!! The line is in behind the motor, against the firewall of the SUV and that they would have to pull the motor to get to it!!! COST: estimate is over $1500!!! I cant afford that. I retired the day before from driving a school bus, no way can I afford that. The next day I took it back to the dealership to trade it in. I gave $14,500 for my SUV just 5 mo ago, so I thought I had paid enough on it to at least get pay off, Not!! They offered me $9,600 for it because they would have to fix AC!!! So far, I havent fixed the AC, I will have to rent a vehicle to take my parents on vacation in Sept. This is just crazy. If anyone else has had this problem, please let me know if there is a better solution to this problem.

So got the Acadia and fell in love, it fit our family of 6 perfectly! Soon after I noticed the passenger front and back windows would hesitate to roll down sometimes...over looked it because I was so happy to have it, then came the air bag light - it was a known issue but no one could do anything about it to clear it out! Now mind you I got my car in Jan so it was cold, now were getting into summer and running the ac more and it makes this loud screeching noise when its on low. I was told it was from water leaking in from the sunroof, GREAT! All these problems are bothersome but not so costly. The biggest problem came today. I was driving with my 2 kids, stopped at a red light, got ready to take off and it was like someone unplugged the car - it just wouldnt go. Luckily I was coming down off a slight incline so I was able to roll into a parking lot where the check engine light came on. And Im being told Its $2500 to rebuild the transmission and put a new wave plate in (the wave plate is what broke in the transmission causing the issue) but they cant guarantee it will last more than 10,000 miles because there could have been more damage done by the broken wave plate. They can give it a full check for $127 a hr or I could get a new transmission for $4000. Of course my warranty ended last year and there is no recall for this issue that so many people are having. I absolutely love everything about this car but whats the point of having a really nice car if you cant drive it and 11 months into it Im having all these issues. I will definitely be trading this vehicle in the first chance I get! GM is supposed to be the best of the best but thats definitely not the case. GMC Acadia is like a cubic zirconia, looks good but worth absolutely nothing!

I bought my Acadia used from Bob Allen Dealership in Danville, KY in July 2010. At 62,100 miles, rain water started leaking into the cabin of the vehicle on the passenger side and rear seating areas. I could hear the water moving around inside the roof compartments while driving. The carpet becomes wet repeatedly. At one point it started to have mildew on the passenger side carpet. I have had it cleaned on several occasions. The battery compartment in the rear passenger side floor board filled with water. I took it to a mechanic, had the water drained and battery replaced. The water damage has caused electrical issues. My radio, cd player, and navigation system no longer works. I had to remove the fuse from the speakers to stop a loud irritating sound. The power steering pump was replaced around 80,000 miles. A mechanic stated that I need new struts. There is a metal to metal grinding noise when I place the transmission into drive mode. When I refill my gas tank, my Acadia will not start on the 1st or 2nd attempt. I have to push hard on the gas while turning on the ignition switch in order to start my engine. Afterwards, it starts without issues until the next trip to the gas station.I took my Acadia in to repair the roof leak twice. The drain ports were cleared. Although the second repair attempt decreased the amount of water leaking into the vehicle, my windows still become drenched from the inside. During the winter months, the water on the inside of my windows freeze. I have contacted GMC about the water leak issue. I was told by GMC that I should contact their GMC overseas department because I was stationed in Germany. I was later told that my VIN was not covered. I am basically stuck with a car that has caused me to pay way more than I ever expected in repair work. GMC has failed miserably with the Acadia model vehicle. I will never own a GMC vehicle again.

This really is awful as I have read that GMC hasnt issued a transmission/powertrain recall? Is this true? Acadias are not cheap and less than 65,000 miles, this happens? I purchased a 2012 Acadia with 60,059 miles on it. I thought I finally found a DEAL. GMC/BUICK dealer sold it to me for 20,035. I couldnt believe it. Roughly 3-5K lower than any other dealers in this town for this car. I jumped on it... Loved the car. 3 kids... Hockey equipment... I was finally in a comfortable car that I can cruise around to every hockey rink in Minnesota.Day #3: Squeaking while breaking. Dealer gave me 4 rotors, 4 new pad. (They covered it). Day #6: Squeaking returns. Some sensor around the wheel was making it squeak. (They covered it). Day #37: Wiper control module goes out. Perfect. Its raining out. And I cant use my wipers. $189. Day #49: Alternator goes out. $775. Day #53: Struts leaking. Shopped online to get some at discount price. $180.00.So its been in the shop 5 times in 54 days. Thats an average of once every 10 days. Are you kidding me? I finally broke down and bought an american car. (Had Honda, Toyota, Nissan before). Im embarrassed to think that when the BOOM in 07-09 hit. And our auto manufacturers were going under. We bailed them out so they could make products like this. Its unreal. I love the look of the car. I love the interior. But Im not going to spend 1K every 50 days on this vehicle to have something else break. Ive contacted GMC and they have apologized that Im having this kind of luck with this car. They claim that I might have the one that always slides through. Hahaha. Are you kidding me. Hey sir. Thanks for spending 20K on your car. But you will spend about 10K in repairs because we have made a poor product.Should I sell it? Man. Id feel bad for the person that bought it from me, and has this problem. Why do you think Toyota, Honda, Hyundai all can be confident with the 10 years 100,000 mile warranty. Because they make rock solid products! GMC...I feel like you dropped the ball with this one.

Sat in the car using accessories on my lunch hour. Clock did not keep time. Hit the accessory button. Again it went back 4 min from where it was - overall lost 10 min every time I hit the accessory button. Has anyone else had this issue? Also very uncomfortable drivers seat. Supposed to be top of the line better than other models. When I took an SLE out for comparison that seat was much better. Go figure.

I bought my 2009 GMC Acadia new. It just turned 62,000 miles. All 6 ignition coils have been replaced (not all at once). Numbers 4 and 6 went first. Then 3 and 5 went. Since theyre at the back near the firewall I had number 1 replaced too since the intake manifold had to be removed to accomplish the repair. A little over 2 weeks ago number 2 had to be replaced. The replacement of 6 coils is unacceptable for a vehicle with mileage as low as mine. Of course we all know about the timing chain issues and transmission flex plate problems. GM should be ashamed of this 3.6 liter motor and the transmission. The comfort and passenger compartment is great. Of course when you have to have your vehicle towed over 100 miles to get back home from vacation that comfort doesnt help. Thats what happened to my family Saturday. This junk is in the shop now with my mechanic. He is very honest and doesnt try to sell you service you dont need. You can look over his shoulder if you want to. He left dealership service due to their dishonest practices. Im getting no ignition to 2, 4, and 6. This isnt a coil issue. It probably is a wiring harness issue or fuse box issue. He explained the flimsy fuse boxes. The fuse boxes are made of layers of flimsy metal sheets so the sockets for the fuses wear out. I also may have damaged my cat by driving with the constant misfires resulting in dumping unignited fuel into the cat. I also have a broken front motor mount, another piece of junk as he states. All of this with around 62,000 miles. Buyer beware. My wife wanted this car bad and I bought without doing research. Never again. I may go for a Honda Pilot next time, after I do lots of research. BTW, I guess most of you know that the Acadia and the Chevy Traverse are the same. I forget the Buick equal.

From a loyal GM household that has bought 13 new GM vehicles in 25 years, I am fed up and looking for a new manufacturer that cares about their customer. My 2009 GMC Acadia SLT1 has had nothing but problems since the warranty expired. The transmission went out literally on a trip when I rolled past 100,00 miles and stopped for gas. Had it diagnosed at a trusted independent shop and was told I need a new transmission. Called GM Customer Care and elevated the case and was told I was 3-4 months past the 5 year warranty. Needed a GM diagnosis. After 3 days of frustration, I called the service manager at my GMC dealership. He told me this is a known problem on early the year build, wave plate disintegrates causing havoc. Said it would be two weeks before they could look at it since they had several others ahead of me, then another week or two for the repair. GM would only consider helping on the repair after the work is completed and would at best kick in 20-25% based on their experience. Could be as high as $4500. I could not wait and had my independent guy replace the transmission at $3300, a discount of $200.This was soon after I had to replace struts. Then I get a low pressure, stop engine warning. Had it towed and could not find cause or repeat. Now the A/C is out and cause cannot be determined in leak test. Dealer guess is that based on odor coming out of vents, it is likely the evaporator, an estimated $1600 repair. Vehicle has 108,000 miles, is garage kept and well maintained. After this, plus having the timing chain replaced (under warranty) and numerous recalls, I have lost confidence and wanted to trade it in. The dealer low balled the trade offer because of the A/C. I called GM again looking for some sort of loyalty goodwill. In over two weeks, after elevating to a senior customer care rep, all I have gotten is broken promises on call backs, repeated inquiries to repeat my story. Last promise was I would hear back same day or in 24 hours (last week). Nearly a week has passed and I am left assuming they hope I will just go away.Looks like I will be going away....to another OEM. Loyalty built GM, treatment like this and faulty products will continue the decades long slide in market share. I cannot recommended GM to my children or their friends. Who will be their customer of the future? GM makes great big SUVs and Trucks...all else is a roll of the the dice. 25 years and out....later GM. Should be a class action suit on the transmission. AC problem is a common problem, too, I am told. Time to test the New GM, and leaderships claim of new transparency.

This car has been the worst thing that has ever happened to me! Problem after problem! Transmission replaced, continued to have problems, water leaks, actually water pouring in car from dvd player and interior lights, had recall years back, said they replaced tubes, paid for this same problem a few times, then got so bad and complained, they finally sealed it all up and replaced the headliner that was completely water stained! Radio went out due to water damage and I had to pay because they said it was the fuse box! Radio and dvd worked shortly, then back and forth with nothing. I have driven car for over a year with it working/not working. When it doesnt work, no onstar either! So a lot of good the emergency phone is to me! Towed back to the shop again today! Engine light. Running horribly. Put in reverse, jumped forward, rpms shooting up, sounds like something dropped into a woodchipper from under the hood. Oh and headlight is filled with water. First and last GM I will ever own! Its a pretty looking package, but its a pandoras box. GM is bankrupting my family! Thanks GM, youre the best!

We have had multiple problems with our 2008 GMC Acadia. The one that we will be bringing it in for for the 3rd time is a leaky sunroof. In hard rains, it leaks internally leaving us with a very soaked passenger side floor and electrical issues - the first time the car wouldnt shut off even after removing the key. Ive researched this and have found multiple complaints from this model year and others. The dealership claims its not a manufacturers problem. The first time I brought it in and told them the issue (leaking sunroof), they claimed the water was coming up from underneath the car. I went to pick it up on a day with heavy rain. Before leaving the dealership, I tried turning it off and it continued to run even with the key removed - service person was very embarrassed especially after I told him the issue and they said I was wrong. Took it in again with the same problems and they said the sunroof drain was clogged. That was last fall. Today we had a hard rain. The floor is soaked again. My biggest complaint is the dealership/manufacturer not owning up to the problem. As I said, there are numerous blogs with the same complaints, but they wont own up to it. I hate even looking at them, i.e., dealership, any more.

It is a shame that a less than 5 years old Acadia 2012 with less than 50,000 miles feels like a run-down vintage! Central Lock malfunction second day I purchased the brand new car (1st day after purchase, at 5 miles!!!) CV damaged (first year). Middle Seat Closure mechanism broken first six months. Engine mounts are broken (after three years). Air distributor is broken (after four years). Engine bracket is broken (after four years). To add insult the injury the dealer is incompetent, promotes an extended warranty that doesnt extend to anything, and only finds out problems after the expiration of the warranty. It is either GM sells Lemons or off-spec vehicles in Saudi Arabia, or the Saudi Specs are designed for junk cars. Either way, never again. I have advised five of my friends and family members interested in GM cars against buying them.

Bought my 2007 Acadia used back in 08 and began to notice a wet floorboard after rain. Soon discovered the factory installed sun roof leaked but was told by the GM dealer we bought it from, all sun roofs leak! Almost immediately, the car wouldnt automatically change gears. Also, while driving down the expressway, the radio would turn off by itself. A few months later, I took the keys out but the car kept running!!! The car was towed to the dealership and the fuse box had to be replaced at the tune of $2000! To fix the leaking sun roof would cost another $2300. At this point I didnt want to spend the $$$$ so I tried to avoid the rain and parked it under the carport during showers. Well last week, while riding south on i75, about 20 miles north of Valdosta, the engine went out. Im done! Im out a car but NEVER EVER WILL I BUY ANOTHER GM!! My advise to anyone reading this, buy a Honda, Toyota, Hyundai, or Ford. Stay away from GM!!!

Upon receiving a letter from GM regarding the water pump shaft seal in my 2009 GMC Acadia, I called customer service to notify them of an incident that took place with my vehicle about three weeks ago. After my husband and I were forced to pull off of interstate 95 just south of Washington, DC during rush hour, we had to replace our water pump due to its lacking ability to function as well as belt that had been leaked on due to problems with the water pump. The letter from GM does imply that should the seal not function properly, the water pumps operating ability could be compromised. Prior to the breakdown, my husband and I noticed low coolant levels, monitored the levels and added coolant when needed. The engine fan continued to run even after the vehicle had stopped - a sign that something was not working right. I contacted GM customer service regarding the cost of the repair that, to me, seems a result of a malfunctioning part produced by the company. I was informed that because the vehicle was not repaired at a dealership, they were unable to reimburse me for the repairs. At the time, the vehicle was not drivable and was taken to the closest available repair shop. The closest dealer was almost an hour away. I am filing the complaint as I find it unfair and unjust that GM has not recalled the water pump shaft seal and instead is hiding behind the issue by calling it a courtesy customer service letter. After researching the issue, I discovered that I am not alone in believing that this part should be recalled. The letter offers this resolve: Your GMC dealer will check your vehicles coolant level and, if necessary, will add sufficient engine coolant. If the seal is compromised, the vehicle will continue to need additional and unordinary amounts of engine coolant fluid. This letter offers a cowardly attempt at patching the real issue (that is the malfunctioning water pump shaft seal). I feel strongly that this part should be recalled.

For those of you who are researching Acadias for your future car, I would like to share that my 2014 Acadia Denali has been to the dealer 5 times for repairs/replacements parts in the past 9 months. My car currently only has 13,600 miles on it. At 4900 miles I had the Vacuum Brake Booster replaced. At 8500 miles I had the Master Cylinder Replaced. At 8900 miles I had to have the car towed because the stabilitrak went out and they replaced the Brake Pedal Position Sensor. At 10,400 miles they replaced another Vacuum Brake Booster. And finally at 13,600 miles I had the Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Solenoid Valve replaced. All of that happened in the first 14 months of the car. I now own a very expensive car that cannot go an oil change without multiple repairs being made in between. GMC has been non responsive until my state DMV contacted them. It is so disappointing to purchase a car that has no integrity and then try to work with GMC who only will respond if I escalate to a legal matter. I would think GMC would be pretty embarrassed to know their car has had so many failures but they are not even interested. Who knows what my 2nd year will look like but I would have wanted to have read this information prior to my purchase. The dealer making repairs has been nice, but again it is a such a pain to go up there 10 times for drop off and pick up. I traded in my MDX because the Acadia had bigger 3rd row and other features I wanted but in the end I will take a smaller car than drive a car that I constantly have to worry will break again.

Bought a used 2010 GMC Acadia from sister-in-law Feb 2015. It had 113000 miles. Ive only put 6,000 on it in a year because Im scared to go anywhere. I know for a fact she took care of it and had all paperwork for maintenance. Shortly after getting the car, the power steering completely failed almost causing a wreck. I had to replace the entire steering system which cost me $2k. The check engine light was on and I thought it was a tune-up, but it registered timing chain and camshaft. Big Bucks. Im cutting my losses and getting rid of this piece of crap. That was my first and last GMC.

Within a few weeks of purchasing my new 2012 GMC Acadia Denali the car went into the shop for 6 weeks while they tried to diagnose a transmission problem with GMs help. Since making the repair the engine continues to surge to 4000 RPMs from time to time under certain driving conditions as the transmission struggles to keep up. Problems with the car also includes numerous recalls, driver seat coming loose, and the front AC evaporator unit failed. After the GM warranty expired and weeks after replacing the front AC evaporator unit the rear AC evaporator and power steering failed. I can no longer afford the car and I believe that GMs product quality became poor after the GM bankruptcy and when GM became known as Government Motors.

My Acadias transmission went out on a trip to KC. About 4 hrs away from home. When it was put in Reverse it went in Drive & vice versa. Finally it went forward when put in Drive but RPMs stayed at 5,000, it wouldnt shift gears to go over 50 mph. I was on interstate. Top speed is 75 but people in KC drive A LOT faster. Im surprised my daughter & I got back to the hotel safe & sound. My insurance covered the tow to the closest shop. They would only pay $100 or less for the tow. I will have to drive the 4 hrs back to get it when its fixed. 8 hr round trip. Ill have to miss a full days wages or use my only day off for the trip. I couldnt be more upset. It was a Saturday when it broke down so naturally about every tranny shop was closed. I got a hold of 1 hardworking mechanic that was still at his shop to see if hed work on it. When I told him it was a 2008 GMC Acadia he said theyre known for bad transmission. I wish Id known that sooner. This is my only vehicle. I wasnt going to call someone to come that far to pick us up. My only option was to rent a car to get home. I have no idea how I will make it back to get the Acadia after its fixed & who knows how long itll be before its fixed. I cant afford a rental the entire time so Ill be without a car. How will I get to work to be able to pay for this? This just happened yesterday so I havent heard back from the mechanic yet. I will write another review about the exact problem & solution later. Im definitely giving GMC customer service a call tomorrow & will never purchase from GM again. Lots of people are having the same problem, I am with their Acadias. Ford here I come!!Updated on 09/23/2015: I was not able to find out what went wrong with my transmission. It was sent to my warranty company for them to determine the issue. They chose a rebuilt tranny to replace the first. The torch converter was bad. They sent the second rebuilt tranny. I was told the Acadia was fixed. I went to KC to pick it up 4 hrs away from home. It made it about 75 miles when the RPMs flew up to 5,500 & the engine lost power. I had to drive the other 3 hrs home with it in low & manually shift gears. Its been at another shop for a week now & I havent heard back from them. The company that supplied the rebuilt tranny will pay to have it fixed. The main issue is Im paying $350 a month for a car I havent been able to drive for over a month & the car I want to trade this pile of bolts for will be sold before I can get this thing fixed! I do not blame the mechanics or the rebuilt tranny company for all the trouble. I blame GM for a very poorly designed transmission!

2013 GMC Acadia Denali with 13,500 miles. The driver seat bezel is cracked. Brought it in to the dealer for warranty repairs. Was told by the dealer that this problem is very common and there is no stock available to fix the seat. I am now on a waiting list to get it fixed. Because the crack is so bad I now have packing tape holding the electronic seat controls from falling out of the seat housing. Since this is so common, why is there no re-call and why isnt GMC doing more to keep up with the parts demand?

Nothing but issues with our 2011 and it just hit 60000 miles. Multiple recalls, alternator, water pump, multiple issues with the front end, air conditioning and heat are all issues that have had to be replaced or fixed. My wife has been left stranded 3 times, twice with the kids, and once was only a couple of days after we dropped it off for our warranty covered inspection/oil change/tire rotation.. Also have multiple friends with the same vehicle and they all have had the same issues and more. Two friends with transmission issues and another with engine failure after the transmission was replaced with just over 100000 miles on it. Ours now is starting to have a burning smell after being driven and takes a second before it knocks and goes into gear. Very disappointed in GM and wont purchase another.

I bought a 2008 Acadia a few years ago. I will never buy another GMC. When we first brought it home it had to go back so the whole rear end clutch system could be replaced. Then they said the tires had to be the same tread so the stabilitrak light would stay off and it still comes on all the time, and says service brake system until I add brake fluid then light goes off for a while. It makes a loud grinding noise on left turns and the dealership dont know why. Seems to me they dont have anyone that can figure out these Acadias and then I had no power steering and the power steering pump had to be replaced and when I picked it up from shop the shocks and struts broke. They told me the seals gave way after being on lift for six and half hours so I got stuck paying 600 for that. Now it keeps telling me transmission over heating let idle. And when I get gas it dont wanna start. I just give up and will be trying to trade in very soon.

I have loved the 2017 GMC Acadia. I had a wonderful experience so far. It drives very smooth, it has a ton of space to fit my family, and has a luxurious feel to it. We have 5 kids, three of which are teens. They require a lot of space for all of their activities and this car provides me with the space to fit everything. We also travel a great deal so space is important. A couple of the accessories pop out every now and again so that could be better. One of the air vents falls down occasionally, as well as one of the rivets on the headrest, but they pop back in. Other than that, we have put a ton of miles on the car and the only problem we have had is that we need to change the tires.

Being a GM family, we have been loyal to the brand but the Acadia falls far
Being a GM family, we have been loyal to the brand but the Acadia falls far short compared to the companys other SUVs. There are 943 Technical Service Bulletins issued for the 2017 Acadia alone! Most of them are related to random leaks, failures with steering, suspension and brakes. As the principal driver, I can attest handling is not as stable as the one-size-down Equinox, although it improved noticeably when we switched to a better tire than what came with the car. Within a few months of purchase, the SUV developed a drive train problem, and it was difficult to find a dealership familiar with the bulletin issued by GM and knew how to resolve it. This is now a known problem, with over 300 registered complaints posted just for this particular repair. Another annoying and known issue: at the gas pump, the baffle in the gas tank causes the fuel pump to shut off after 3 gallons. The solution is to manually hold down the level on the pump, or it will keep shutting off after every 2-3 gallons, even when the tank is nearly empty. And then there are the myriad leaks, detailed in the complaints and TSBs…

I bought this 2010 Acadia 3 months ago. Oh sure, it looks great, but I discovered the a/c doesnt work, the window locks dont work, the windshield washers dont work. When I remove the gas cap to refuel, it wont start unless I floor it. It cranks slow like that battery or starter is bad. Now it pops into neutral while driving and the electric door locks cycle up and down rapidly. What a huge pile of crap this vehicle is. I was a certified GM mechanic for 20 years, but after seeing what kind of junk they are building now, Im ashamed to admit that to anyone. Dont ever buy one of these vehicles. The warranty company is worthless, says the problems are on me, and they wont repair them.

Cant believe with all the complaints on this transmission that GM isnt offering a recall or help with assistance. Ive talked 2 of my friends into buying Acadia because of my experience. I purchased a 2010 GMC Acadia from the dealer for $47,927.20 on 1 February 2010. In October of 2011, I had Major work done on the vehicle. The Engine check light came and the vehicle started making a rattle noise in the morning. The dealer informed me that the cause was internal failure, (code J0778). In fact, means secondary camshaft intermediate drive chain tensioner replacement - right side needed. These problems continue for another year, resulting in a replacement of an engine, water pump and a transmission. This problem still exists and vehicle is not safe to drive out of town. GMC offered me a $6000 rebate on a trade-in on another Acadia. No thanks, still fighting.

With so many choices out here in SUVs I shopped for a long time and decided on the 2014 GMC Acadia SLE 2 for many reasons. I began noticing them in 2008 and everyone I spoke with about them seemed very pleased both with their performance and the comfortable ride. It has WI FI and all the whistles and bells but to be honest I dont care a thing about any of that. I care about reliability and efficiency. For a big heavy SUV it gets 27 MPG Highway if youre not a lead foot, and it is truly my dream car. It also has the towing package and can pull a 2 horse trailer loaded, or big boat etc.I purchased it in Dec. 2015 from Eagle Buick GMC in Homosassa, Florida. In the past Ive owned Jeep Cherokees, Nissans and Toyotas. But I just didnt get the comfortable ride or performance this Acadia offers. I also have to be honest. I was disappointed in the 2017 model. GMC has reduced it to be honest to a smaller version and not the ride the 2016s back to 2008 have. The new one looks more like an old souped up GMC Jimmy than an Acadia.

Bought a 2008 Acadia SLT FWD used from a GMC dealer. Ironically, about the same time as two of our friends. So far, it has been a complete disaster. The worst car we have ever owned and our friends have had a never ending list of similar issues. It started with the little knobs in the car just falling off. The first to go was the lumbar support knob on the drivers seat. Then the airbag light comes on and off for no reason. The reverse parking system consistently flashes a message that it needs servicing so we have shut it off at about 60,000 miles. Beware: this car is heavy and it eats tires, rotors and brakes. We are at 98,000 miles and have had 3 sets of tires, new rotors and new brakes. To top that off, the struts and shocks needed replacing at about 90,000 miles. At 98,000 miles (today), we are being told we need $5,300 in repairs to the car for a water pump, transmission (please look on the internet for this before you buy. Their transmissions are terrible and shift poorly), and engine rebuild. Overall outside of oil changes, we will have spent over $8,000 in repairs on a car we have driven just at 60,000 miles which is horrible. The gas mileage on these is not great, we get just about 16.5 miles per gallon on this car. Did I mention the sunroof leaks more than the Titanic during the rain. It just pours in at the drivers sun visor. Bring a towel on a rainy day. If you think this is unique, think again. You can search Acadia leaky sunroofs and there are tons and tons of them. If anyone thinks I am exaggerating, just do some basic searching on the problems I have listed, they are common. There are a ton of service bulletins out on these cars for all kinds of issues. Again, do not buy one of these. I repeat: do not buy this car. Did I mention the air conditioning will just shut off for no apparent reason? Ours does.

GMC Acadia 2008 - I had a problem with my steering making a squeaking sound and getting harder to turn. I took it to gmc to have it checked. They found nothing in Oct.2014. The noise got louder, the car currently has 25,095 miles on it. Now I am being told the rack and pinion is leaking and needs to be replaced. The car has never been in an accident and has had all of the maintenance kept up. I received a letter from gmc saying they would replace the power steering pump if I had a problem, gmc does not consider this to be part of the pump problem, therefore they will not cover it. General Motors executives should have their family members drive this piece of crap and experience what the rest of the Acadia owners experience: Timing chains replaced at 40,000 miles, Steering assembly replaced at 55,000 miles, transmission failure at 120,000 mile, wiring harness fire, and now the transmission failure again at 173,000 miles. While the timing chains and the first transmission were repaired at GMs dollar (goodwill), they called it even though they had a recall on the transmission after mine was repaired. They now want $1620 to repair a fouled solenoid valve in the transmission. Its fouled with oil, in a closed system, that while it could have been caused from when they repaired the transmission the first time, they state the high mileage is the cause??? Its a Closed System; they repaired and fouled ports in a solenoid valve. This is another reason I will not in my lifetime buy any General Motors product again. They do not stand behind their products, let alone have family members drive them.

We bought our 2012 GMC Acadia brand new in 2012. Fast forward to now 2015....and a stack of paperwork connected to all of the recalls and repairs that we have had on this crap SUV. I have come to know the service manager at the GMC dealership on a first name basis. Our troubles began with the numerous recalls on airbags. Each time they had it in the shop for a recall they found more issues that needed to be replaced/fixed. For example on a routine oil change they found that the oil was spewing all over the engine drive shaft so they replaced the seal to that. I am not sitting in front of all of my paperwork right now as it is in the glove box of our Acadia that now sits at the dealership getting more extensive repairs done on it. Last week I was getting in my car to take my son to practice and noticed a loud weeeeeering sound when I started the car. It would get louder upon my accelerating. I called the GM dealership to tell them of the sound and they said I can bring it in to the dealership in the morning. So we drop it off to let them diagnose the issue. We leave in one of their rental cars only to get a phone call an hour later telling us that they found the car to not register that it had any power steering fluid. Upon further investigation they see that the pump/seal burst causing some axle now to need to be replaced and the power steering pump needed replaced as well. All for a whopping 1800.00! The service manager said he spoke to GM and they agreed to cover 75% of the costs for this. Weird but ok. Then on the day we are suppose to go pick up the Acadia they call us to tell us the truck is still making the weeeeering sound and so they looked further and now the alternator needs replaced too! Are you freaking kidding me!????? This car has 49,000 miles on it! It is kept in a garage all day/night. The oil is changed regularly. WTH! We drive this car to basically run kids around town. Thats it! I am NEVER in my life going to buy another GM vehicle! I will forever be loyal to my Hondas!!!!! GM your Acadia should be taken off the floor and revamped completely! We are a family who bought a brand new vehicle so we could have piece of mind and not worry about if our SUV would break down and nickel and dime us. We will trade this car off ASAP and never look back (unless a class action law suit comes to surface). We would happily join in on any lawsuit going on if there is one. In fact we may contact one anyway to see what our options might be.

My 2009 GMC Acadia has had 4 of 6 cylinder ignition coils go bad, 2 of 3 catalytic converters, power lift gate 3 times and countless other recalls. Including the heated washer fluid option where the fix was just to take it out. On the fourth coil going out I had enough and asked the dealer to contact GM to see if there was anything they could do. In my opinion a 66% failure rate is excessive. The response from GM was that they would do nothing since the car is outside of 36,000 miles. I had them escalate the request and just heard back from GM. The rep that called me said that it was there was nothing that they could do since it was outside of 36,000 miles. When I asked if it was normal and ok for GM to have a 66% failure rate the rep told me that he did not even know what the part was and did not know if it was normal or not. Purchased 2009 GMC Acadia with 50k miles in 2012. Has been in for numerous recalls and repairs since 2nd day after purchase. 3 times to dealership for leaking fuel which was from fuel injectors and faulty o-ring that led to cabin filling with dangerous gas fumes, 3 times to shop for ignition coil replacement where dealership ignored the ECM technical bulletin. Replaced #3 coil 3 times (it was literally melted), 1 failed actuator, 1 engine rebuild when dealership failed to identify actuator as issue, actuator replacement, complete power steering failure after it was simply serviced due to recall limitations. 6 tows in all. And it is now in shop for ECM and you guessed it. Ignition coils/spark plugs. How much did GM help? They offered $1500 towards new car purchase. Not even close to repair costs. How knowledgeable was dealership service department? HORRIBLE. Did not identify correct issues, upsold repairs, ignored technical bulletins, and wiggled out of recall replacement of power steering. My warranty that I purchased covered some costs but even with warranty and extended service plan, I have paid out over $6k in a 2.5 yr period plus been on side of road more times than I can count. Cannot trade in due to very little market value. Stuck with worthless car that is costing a fortune. It was obviously a lemon and GM needs to acknowledge that and extend bumper to bumper coverage or buy out consumers. At this point I am surprised that I have not caught fire, blown up, or wrecked when power steering failed. This is a dangerous vehicle and people should stay away from it. The car did run for almost 3000 kilometers post the inspection and prior to motor death. 2) Shouldnt GMC still fix this car and consider it still within the warranty? This is because (a) the car was inspected within 10 days of the warranty. The GMC dealer in Lebanon could not take it sooner. GMC dealer told me that they would still consider it under warranty. Also, (b) I really believe that the inspections done by the GMC dealer in Lebanon should have detected it. I cannot imagine the problem if done properly and diligently. I cannot imagine a great company such as GMC would have a bad diagnostic program. And (c) regardless of warranty, how can Acadia die after 30,600 kilometers (less than 20,000 miles), and GMC corporate people in the USA are not all over this lemon car?I would think that the GMC engineering community would be extremely interested in this case and want to learn all about it and come out with a very conclusive conclusion. Instead, the company is allowing a bunch of crooks and bad business/service personnel operate this GMC dealership. It is such organizations that create bad reputations for their mother company, because they put maximized profitability in front of quality and customer care.3) What can cause the death of the Acadia car within 20,000 miles? I brought the car for inspections and oil changes at 11530 kilometers and 27,651 kilometers. Please look into this and take a disciplinary action against your Lebanese GMC dealership and force them to fix the car asap. I expect great companies to act in an honorable way and to keep their customers happy and keep their reputation sky high. Please let me know, I am anxiously waiting,

Our 2009 GMC Acadia had 60,000 miles when it started having mechanical issues. The GMC Acadia had placed us in catastrophic danger as the engine shut down while we were driving at 65 miles per hour on the L.I.Expressway (New York) in the late evening. However, we luckily--by the grace of God--was able to verve (steer) off the HOV lane without being injured to the shoulder lane. Many passing cars recognized our emergency situation and provided space for us to move from the HOV lane. We were stranded for about 2 hours in the late evening waiting for a tow truck. The next day, we had the car diagnosed & serviced. The technician informed us that cylinders 3 &5 were misfiring. The coil pack was blown. The water seeped in the engine and battery areas. The electrical system was comprised by the water seeping in through the front windows and front hood.In addition, the Bose stereo, navigation system, back up camera were comprised by the electrical system problem. The repairs will cost approximately $5,000 to $8,000!! This is appalling & disgusting. The warranty has ended and the repair costs are beyond our means. We are demanding GMC to buyback these LEMON GMC Acadias, as it obviously has many design flaws &mechanical flaws. SHAME ON GMC to expect consumers to continually be disrespected by design & manufacturing mistakes.

Please be advised that this letter of complaint pertains to my 2011 GMC Acadia Denali car. On April 9, 2011, I brought the car in for service at Miller Buick GMC, 920 Route 1 North, Woodbridge, NJ. I informed the service dept. that the steering wheel makes a swishing noise when making turns with the car. Following an inspection of the car, I was informed that the rack and pinion had to be replaced and that this part was under recall due to faulty manufacturing and would be replaced at no charge.Fast forward 3 years later to March 4, 2014 and for the 2nd time, I bring the car in for not only an oil change but again, the steering wheel makes a swishing noise when making turns with the car. Following an inspection of the car I was informed that the rack and pinion had to be replaced for the second time and that this would cost an estimated $1,735.00 plus tax. When inquiring about this part, I was informed that this part has been corrected by GMC due to it being faulty when the car was manufactured. So the new rack and pinion part should not have the same problem once it is replaced. My concern is this, I purchased a brand new GMC Acadia Denali and it was manufactured with a faulty part during production. I have paid and still paying top dollar on this car note. Why is GMC billing me for $1,735.00 plus tax on a part that was faulty to begin with? This is poor automotive business. I have been a customer of GMC since 1986 for other vehicles. This Acadia car is only 3 years old and should not have this same problem a 2nd time around. Please be advised that I am requesting that GMC replace the rack and pinion for the 2nd time, with no cost to me as the consumer due to faulty manufacturing at the time of production of the car. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

2009 Acadia bought brand new in 09 has turned into a lemon :( I have helped 2 friends buy an Acadia. I have been nearly a spokesperson for the Acadia and now, another major repair is necessary. We have 95k miles on it and the transmission just went out. I am only 4 months past our 5 year warranty (mind you the dealership in which we purchased the Acadia has a LIFETIME power train warranty...but GMC wont honor that because the dealership went out of business). I filed a case with GMC. They contacted the dealership that has our car and have only offered us a discount on refurbishing our transmission... What?! I dont want to refurbish this bad one, I need a new transmission. I did not accept their terms and our car is still sitting at the dealership (its been a week already) and we pray they change their mind and offer us a better deal tomorrow. :(

When we purchased our 2009 Acadia, it was the day they announced their bankruptcy. We bought anyway because we wanted to buy American and be part of the solution. We loved the midsize look and feel and with the captains chairs in the middle, it allowed our third child, not in a carseat, to get to the back row nicely. So this vehicle is very nice for its practicality and spacious feel for all riders given its smaller size.So the bad news. One recall after another after another. I cant complain too much about that, as long as they get it right. What I am angry about is that there is a transmission problem throughout the company. GM mechanics know this. They know the solenoids are crap, but keep putting junk in their vehicles so that we the consumer has to pay an arm and a leg to get a $65 piece replaced because it requires taking the whole engine out. This happened once at 65k miles, and I thought, well, I guess this happens because that is what the mechanic said. But now it is happening again one year later, a different coil this time. I refuse to keep paying for this is. This is a known issue and the company is doing nothing about it.If I have to, I will do something about it. I will go back to buying Mitsubishi and Audi like I have in the past. Never had any solenoid coil problems with those cars. Never had any customer service problems either. As a matter of fact, Audi has stood by their products even out of warranty because they felt bad about a water pump that went bad. Lets see if GM steps up and takes care of those that took care of them in their darkest moment.

I bought my 2008 Acadia New from the dealership and I have been in Love with it from the beginning. The biggest issues Ive had are my water pump going out in 2013. The rails on floor to moves rows back & forth are a hassle but weve managed to just fold the seats & thats always worked (I got the 8 passenger). A/C has gone bad a couple of times as well. Other than that no major issues. Im at 180k miles now & it decided it was tired by stalling on me & shaking on the freeway, it read on dash Engine reducing speed. I was told by a technician that the transmission was going out and not worth putting money in it anymore because it was at the end of the road. I took it to a different tech at a different shop and he said there seems to be nothing wrong with the transmission and its the suspension, a/c and a few leaks that were not caught which led it to have no coolant & overheating. I have been debating getting a new car because this car has been so good to me and Ive driven it from Los Angeles to Arizona, Las Vegas, Lake Arrowhead, & Big Bear every single winter. Im also a Realtor so I drive a lot. My transmission and engine have never been replaced. So Im having a hard time parting with it. The second technician that gave me a second opinion also offered me $2500 if I decide to actually part with it. Im still debating and having a hard time but I think the time has come to say goodbye. :(

Bought a new 2014 Acadia Denali - almost $60K. After 8 months, the driver’s seat started making a Clicking noise when I shifted my weight slightly. It was loud and often enough that passengers asked what that noise was. Called the dealer I bought it from, but they were booked up for a week. Took it to another dealer and explained the problem. He said it was the seat tracks and that it was a very common complaint. He could replace the tracks, but that I would be back in three months with the same complaint. Since it was a warranty issue, I told him to order several sets because I would expect them to be replaced. He told me that he would only replace them once, and that I should go back to the dealer that I bought the truck from as he was not about to use up his warranty allocation on me. GM does everything in their power to sell you a vehicle. However, they fall short on support and service. After owning 3 GM vehicles in the past, this will be my last GM product.

My 2013 Acadia has had both Cadillac converters changed. Also Im currently having problems with radio not working, flashers not sounding, seat belts not making a sound when theyre not connected, signals not making a sound when theyre flicking, the radio wont play CDs, wont do anything. It shows up stations but you cant hear anything on. It will pop off and on every now and then so I just dont know whats wrong with this car. It is scary because the cost is astronomical to repair if this is electrical problems. Also the car had problems with it. Was water running from somewhere onto my feet after a rain, which I know there were other people who complained of this as well. Theres no recall for it but other comments states that it has cause some damage to the electrical wiring. I read this in other reviews, I can not afford this cost, Acadia 2013 owners. But of course with all this going on theres no recalls on any of the issues that I have with this vehicle. How frustrating!!!

Back in 2008 when GM was in trouble financially and I needed a car, my family purchased an Acadia. Part of our decision-making process involved supporting an American company. We really liked/like the car - the reliability is the overarching problem. To begin, there were a number of recalls resulting in many hours overall waiting at the dealer. If that were the only issue, I could deal with it. Unfortunately, that is just the beginning. We started having problems with the engine coils failing. First one - $400, a month later, another - $450. Four months later, one of the same coils that we had replaced and a different one - $660.00. Six months passed not without repairs (new radiator $700) and now the coils are a problem AGAIN! The dealer now tells us that ALL of the coils, the ECM and the catalytic converter all need to be replaced pursuant to a bulletin #PIP5038B which states if there are certain failure codes, which were present for us, that replacing less than all of the coils and other stuff, would result in future failure of the coils, problems with the brain and emissions. Total for this work - $2,931.72! Picked the car up and before arriving home, check engine light was back on! Can you believe it?? Dealer now states, which to be fair they had been working on and thought they had corrected, that the fuel injector is too clogged as a result of the coil problem and will need to be replaced - $765.00.My gripe - The coil failure appears to be a recurring issue which the dealer did not service properly initially replacing them one at a time resulting in our having to pay $1,510 only to have the same problem 6 months later. In that time, GM learned that they could not fix the problem 1 coil at a time and alerted their dealers in the bulletin. They learned while I paid but when the problem resurfaced due to the failure of their repairs, instead of offering to make good and apologizing for the additional inconvenience to me, they charged me an additional $3,000 which didnt fully fix the problem and now requires another $765. Who knows if that will be the end - perhaps there is a problem yet to be discovered with another fuel injector?I have spoken with the executive office and they offered to pay 50% of the current repair OR give me a voucher for $3,000 toward another GM product but I do not feel that this is fair compensation. I have had to expend $5500 on this car this year alone - not taking the additional $765 into account. One other note, GM continues to throw out that my car has high mileage which is a factor in the amounts they would offer. I purchased the car to drive, not preserve. I have taken care of the vehicle. Are GM cars only meant to go 100,000 and then die? Volvo and Toyota owners seems to expect 100s of thousands of miles but GM no? I dont see them advertising that. What would I like? For others to know of the problem. To be fully reimbursed for the monies we have had to expend in repairs to the coils so I can reinvest them in a new car that will actually work. Thanks, I would appreciate your help!

We bought our 09 Acadia last year with just 37,500 miles on it and it was fine for the first few months. Then the driver side window started getting stuck and will not always come up. The air conditioner will not blow cold or cool air all of the time, sometimes it gets downright hot. And the biggest problem started in March prior to going on a trip, the car started hesitating on the highway and it was hard to accelerate. Upon returning home we took it to a mechanic and it only did small hesitations, not enough for him to diagnosis the problem. Then we drove with it hesitating every other day. It stopped for a while and now you can hear the transmission issues loud and clear. I am having trouble backing up, it jerks when I do, and when I try to take off the you can hear the gear issues. And it has been sitting for almost 2 weeks now because I now have to shell out a ton of money for a car with less than 50,000 miles. DO NOT BUY THIS CAR, YOU WILL REGRET IT IF YOU DO!

Carl Black tried to rip me off. Originally quoted $1800 to repair. After I told them I was taking car to my trusted mechanic, repair went to $400. I was still ripped off as I signed pages of warranty receipts when I picked up car. Now less than a year later, Stabilitrak light is on. Car only has 108,000 miles. I own 2009 GMC Acadia SLT-1. This is the nicest vehicle I have ever owned so I have strived to take really good care of it. For the last few months, I have been experiencing an issue that seemingly cannot be resolved! When I am driving on the highway and I achieve the speed want to go and let off the gas and the vehicle would coast, it starts what I refer to as missing. It has not given off any codes and I have had it checked out by two mechanics. The problem is getting worse! Without a code and the lack of anything obvious, it cannot be resolved. The last time I took it in, the transmission fluid was low, which makes me wonder with all of the posts on transmissions going bad in Acadias, if it could be my transmission. I do not know what to do and am writing this in hopes someone has had similar issues and can share your experience and maybe your end result! HELP!!!

I bought my Acadia in Dec. 13. Within a month of buying it, Ive had trouble with the A/C blowing hot air, and had the catalytic converter replaced. Luckily, it was still under warranty. About 3 weeks ago, the engine light came on again. The repair shop I took it to said it was the transmission. I took it to a transmission shop, who said it was a known problem with this model of transmission, and that it was still being produced, even though its a known piece of junk. GM isnt obligated to do anything, because its not a life threatening problem. I will never buy anything made by GM, again.

I own a 2008 GMC Acadia. Bought it brand new with just 9 miles. My problems
I own a 2008 GMC Acadia. Bought it brand new with just 9 miles. My problems started at 70,000 miles. The first problem was even though my car is kept in the garage at home and work, it was left outside one night when it rained. My car to say the least was flooded. There was water pouring out of the vents of every single orifice possible and the floor boards were soaked. It was the fault of a part in the sunroof. When I called the dealer, they said, Oh yeah, there was a recall but not on your Acadia because your car was made in Texas and not Michigan or vise versa. Called GM. After yelling and screaming, they covered. It happened again 8 months later then again 10 months from that. I had to pay for the one after 10 months because the year warranty on the sunroof parts were up. Then came the transmission. After 77,000 miles, the transmission went out and I was on the side of the road... The dealer immediately calls a wrecker and gets me a car... I was thinking ok, this is where the dealer just flushed out the transmission and they messed something up... Here I am at 65,000 miles later and it needed transmission work again!! I called GM three times and they were able to pitch in $400 to help. Whats crazy is the dealer first told me $4800 before I spoke to GM, then changed it to $1400 after GM agreed to help pay $400. Now the sound system has completely gone whack. My car is making a static sound when the radio is off and when the car is off, my car makes a loud ear piercing popping sound from the speakers with the radio and car is turned off. My car loses sound completely - no radio, no blinker noise, no dinging sounds whatsoever including OnStar like 10 times a day... It just cuts off and on all the time at random. Ive been like some of you, a LOYAL GM owner for years and years. Ive never been so put off with a car before in my life and let me tell you, I owned some crappy GMs before, but this tops the list. For the gentleman that said you folks are the exception for GM problems with Acadia obviously works for GM and hasnt bothered to read the 100s and 100s of GMC Acadia forums out there on tons of other websites. GM does have a problem with the Acadia model and they are refusing to face facts. The one that I think is priceless is how they say there is a recall (safety seat belt light latest one and my car has this problem too) and yet your 2008 or 2007 GMC Acadia is not part of the recall... That one is priceless. GM is notorious for saying they have recalls but oh no, not on your car. Remember its on the car that was made at the other plant... LOL. I would seriously hope the lady in charge now with GM would read these forums but we all know that is not happening. Hear no, speak no....blah, blah, blah. Im done with GM... and I really hate that.

I am a GMC 2008 Acadia owner. I have seen many forums related to the above subject. I am in a very similar situation. I have heard the whine or moan type noise when I would turn the steering wheel. I took my Acadia in the GMC dealer in Merced, CA. They quoted me an outrageous amount of $1,800.00+ to have it fixed. It is out of warranty and I did not have the funds to pay for the work/parts. Now my A/C has went out. I took it in to a local radiator shop and they informed me it was caused by the power steering line making contact with the A/C line and has caused a hole in it. The part for the A/C line is over $700.00. I am at a loss here and have nowhere else to turn to for help on this vehicle. As it stands now, I am currently out of an A/C that was caused by the power steering line. As I understand by reviewing many forums, this is a known issue that many of GMC Acadias have had. My transmission went out at 130K. I lost 3rd gear 4th gear and reverse and had my 2 kids under age 2 in the car with me. Weve had the new transmission in for about a month and already its missing and jerking as it shifts. There is also a continual issue with acceleration while turning left, it sound like metal vibrating together or clattering in the engine that gets increasingly louder as you accelerate and the power seems to bog down at the same time. Seems every time I take it to the shop they replace this or that (I cant remember the long list of specific things) and it drives fine for a few weeks and then these same problems start happening again. Im taking it to a GM dealership next week - hoping they can do a better job of pinpointing the issues than our local mechanic. At this point I want to get rid of it but we just put in the new transmission, my husband thinks we need to keep it forever but Im certain its nothing but an expensive headache. I love the cosmetic features of this vehicle and the upgrades but the engine sucks! So disappointed, I will NEVER recommend this vehicle to anyone.

I bought a GMC Acadia in 2009 brand new. It was nice as all new cars. I meticulously maintained it and even ensured to buy the extended warranty when purchased. If you are keeping count thats almost a total of $48k. So my transmission decides to fail at 72348 and I contact the dealer to be told that myvehicle is not covered by the manufacturer warranty or extended warranty as of 4 months ago. REALLLY! Then every possible shop I have spoken to has suggested that the transmission should not have failed at that mileage. Seems like I was doomed from the day I purchased this vehicle. I contacted GM corporate office to see if they would assist at least with parts and I pay labor. NADA. No help. Save your money; do not BUY ANY GM BRAND. Now I guess I understand why Toyota, Honda, and Nissan are normally better buys. If you have an original warranty stating drive train etc. for 100000 miles, you should honor it. I AM AT 28000 MILES SHY OF THAT. WHY SHOULD I PAY $3000 FOR A TRANSMISSION? ANSWER ME THAT GM AKA PROFESSIONAL GRADE!

Our 2009 GMC Acadia has had 2 water pumps replaced, catalytic converter, front suspension, timing belt cover leak all have problems in the last couple months. This thing is a money pit. Worse vehicle ever. I will never ever buy a GM vehicle again. I think a class action lawsuit is needed.

While parking at a store, My wife had her foot on the brake approaching the parking space, when the gas pedal suddenly went to the floor (full throttle). She tried to stop by applying more pressure on the brakes. This did not stop the car (2007 GMC Acadia), She also tried pulling up on the throttle with my foot, couldn’t get it to come up. She finally stopped when the car hit the Walmart store outer wall. My daughter was in the car with her at the time and witnessed the entire incident just as described above. This was a $5200. Crash, as well as her first collision counting against my record in 45 Years of driving. Has anyone else had this happen to them, GMC needs to check these vehicles out for this problem and get them fixed before some get hurt or dies.

Well another big repair needed for my 2010 GMC Acadia. First I had problems with the steering column. Then the core evaporator had to be replaced. Both were major repairs. GMC Paul Sur paid for most of it after I went on their website and complained. Now I need a TMC module and seal replaced. Need throttle service and fuel injector. Total cost parts and labor $1600! Called to get a breakdown for parts $734 and labor $509. Throttle clean $124.95, fuel induction service 139.95. Funny how I took my car in a year ago with the same problem. It was still under warranty. But they said that the codes did not show up at that time. Now its not under warranty and the codes showed up. Really? This is the third major problem Ive had with this car.

2009 GMC Acadia was exactly what I wanted...so I thought! Little did I know that I would be driving with my 5 year old in the car when it essentially shut off in the middle of the Interstate at less than 2 years old! That was the beginning of the END. It was year 2011 and this amazing car became nothing more than a Lemon... It needed a NEW ENGINE. I knew I was in for it and I was right. All of these posts are exactly what Ive been through. I dont remember all of the correct descriptions but StabiliTrak, steering pump, motor mount are just a few to mention. I was hoping to keep the car for ONE more year...but now the car wont shift...wont go. Guess what? Wave plate fractured sending pieces of ground metal teeth throughout the transmission. Refurbished transmission needed for $4,800 or new for $6,800. I was happy to receive the wave plate recall letter in the mail but lucky me the tranny died after 120k miles so its not covered. I called GM to discuss a better cost for a transmission.. I said Im not asking for a new car. Im not asking for a new transmission. I simply needed my GMC Acadia to function through 2015 and $4,800 is a high price to pay considering the thousands already invested in repairs. Theyve known about the so-called wave plate issue for a long time...before my car passed the 120k mark.

We too had to put in a new transmission as well as problem with steering wheel and stability track. We have put in close to $7,000 into this car that we paid $42,000 custom ordered. I thought at first it was because ours was being built when GMC went on strike but after reading comments thats not the case. Now we just find out that the piston is shot and we now have to put in a new engine with not even having 200,000 miles on it! This is crazy. GMC should be reimbursing us for this cost. The sad thing is I love the style and comfort of it just not all the extra money we have had to put into it due to GMC poor engineering. Please if anyone knows of a class action suit against them for this let me know. This is not right! They know they have a problem with it and wont make things right.

I purchased a 2012 Acadia with 55K miles a few years ago and honestly it was the best riding and most spacious truck I have ever owned. I loved it until it started have random issues with engine light going off all the time and it was always another sensor that need to be replaced. Finally a month before the warranty ran out the engine light was reading timing belt (dealer said stretched and needed new at $3,000). Truck was running fine as I saved up the money for that. Then when I did bring it to the dealer to get new timing chain they told me the next day that it had camshaft engine failure and it would cost me $8,800 to fix it.I still owe 11,500 on it and trade in is $9,500. Ran fine when I brought it in and now does not run at all. Contacted GMC and they were very in telling me they would not honor the warranty that ran out a few months ago even though the engine and chain failure was well within warranty. GMC and the dealer agreed to discount the engine to $6,400 but that only puts the price were it should have been in the first place. Found some records at the dealers that says engine went in 2013 with 2,600 miles on it too. That for sure means GMC is well aware of this engine chain and camshaft problem but refuses to acknowledge it or take responsibility for it and that BUCK STOPS HERE... Small claims court here we come... Sorry for all you others out there that purchased a GMC product as they were a great company 15 years ago until they decide to go the route of Ford in 1975. Just bad trucks and customer service until they almost went out of business.

We bought my 2008 GMC Acadia brand new! When I had 30,000 miles on it, my transmission went out! I got it back and 1 day later, the Camshaft went out! It was in the shop for months! At 72,000 miles on it and 6 years, my engine is SHOT. $7,500 for a new one! The engine went out 2 weeks after my warranty was up! GM refused to do anything about it and I was never offered an extended warranty! So the repairs will be 3/4 what the car is worth! I called GM and explained the situation and the generous jerks said all they would do for me was give me $2,000 toward a new car! I talked to dealership and they explained it wasnt just a GM loyalty bonus, it was all they would give me for my trade in!! So I pay $43,000 for vehicle and 6 years later, its only worth $2,000!! Blue book is $11,000!! All I wanted was to at least get 1/2 of the blue book! However, that was not even considered! We have bought 8 GM vehicles brand new totaling $275,000! My dad retired from GM so I have always been loyal!! Never had any issues with our 4 Avalanches, Montana Van, Camaro, and Cavalier! The Acadia was my favorite (at first). I loved the style and room in it, but Ive seriously been so disappointed by all the issues - engine, camshaft, transmission, no radio or sounds because amp is fried! Front end making awful noises which again, they refused to fix! I will be purchasing another GM (dads discount is too good to turn down) and I hope and pray it will be alright because like I said, this Acadia is the only one weve had trouble with! I hope this helps someone! Make sure if you buy an Acadia to take it in at 36,000 and have a diagnostic run even if you dont notice anything and again before the 100,000 or 5 years!

2007 GMC Acadia radio and sound issues - About a year and a half ago, we started experiencing problems with having no sounds for the radio, blinkers, seat belt, back up warning sound that a child or something is behind the vehicle etc. This is definitely a safety issue if the warning beep is not working when backing up. This happened off and on at first and then everything sound wise has stopped working now for the last 16 months. Except for about 30 minutes this summer when all of the sudden we had sound again. We have no idea what happened but the sound quit again and we have not had any sound since. GMC has said they dont know what the cause is and we should take the vehicle to the dealer to troubleshoot the issue. This will entail a repair bill of hundreds of dollars from what the dealer has estimated. I have read and heard this is a common problem with the Acadia. Looks like GM would step up and recall and fix all these issues everyone is having with the Acadia. Very disappointed with GM and their failure to resolve these issues.

2008 GMC Acadia SLT-2 - I purchased this vehicle a few years ago and absolutely loved it. The timing when the warranty expired and the problems began was very coincidental! Power steering went at 70K miles - had to replace the pump and rack and pinion. The low tire pressure lights keep coming on as well as the check engine light. Now, when stopped at a light, the vehicle feels as though it wants to charge forward and the RPMs run wild. A few times Ive been in the car with my children where it stopped running or wouldnt start and let out a loud noise when I tried to start it. I am a single mom and unfortunately cannot afford these repairs let alone a new car!!! Ive had other problems with the moonroof leaking into the overhead lighting as well. I never thought a car with the price tag that the Acadia comes with would have so many (expensive) issues and so little support from GMC. I currently only have 82K miles on the car, which isnt really that high!

Spent $50k on this new vehicle (2017 GMC Acadia Denali AWD) and it has been a total disaster from day 1 - From rattles and squeaks in dash, seats, and lift gate to the biggest issue, vehicle shudders at constant speeds! (GOOGLE GMC #PIP5488). We ended up finding this out at our 5th service, but at the 4th service, our entire drivetrain was torn apart to have the torque converter clutch replaced - Which didnt solve our problem. We just got word today that GMC is not willing to offer us a buyback, rather we were told we had to wait for a fix! Dealership says it could be 2 years! WHAT! Spend $50k, suffer for 4 months, no fix, no timetable, and no support! GMC, see you in court! Wouldve given this 0 stars.

I purchased my 2007 GMC Acadia brand New. A week after owning it, the liftgate shocks went bad, it hit me in the head putting groceries away. I NOTICED a popping sound coming from the steering, as Id turn, took it in, according to them its fine... 3 weeks, I was just driving and it completely shut down no warning, I had to put it into park, restart it. Took it in, ran a diagnosis and nothing. December 2008, winter I was driving the car, the gas pedal went to the floor again, no warning, almost wrecked into a pole. Ive had continuous issues with my SUV, with the warranty, even worse now that I paid it off, repairs are more than anything else. Approximately 4000.00 in repairs now. I feel I should get a replacement being that this SUV only has 47,000 miles on it!!! Currently its in the shop, for the throttle body, last month I formed out $900.00 for brakes! Paid $125 For evap. valve. Im sick of this unsafe cartel or junk. I dont even take my child around in it because its not safe!

I bought this GMC Acadia in August of 2008. Brand new. I followed all scheduled maintenance recommendations set by GMC. At 78,000 miles while driving down the interstate, a hole blows in the side of the transmission stranding my wife and two young sons 3 hours from home. Naturally the factory warranty is up. BUT, I told my wife, This is why you buy from a company such as GMC, they will stand by their product, and help us pay for it. WRONG! GMC totally turned their backs on us! GMC customer service told me twice there is nothing they will do. They did tell me if I had taken it to a GMC dealer theyd look at it. Really? I cant drive it! Its at a private mechanic. What pay to have it towed again to a dealership so they can tell me they wont help me again then over charge me to fix it and make more money off me that I dont have??? NO WAY! The funny thing is, Ive read reviews of tons of people having this exact same problem with GMC and this Acadia transmission problem. Wake up GMC! I say this because not a couple months ago, I told my wife wed buy her a new Tahoe in July of 2016. NOT NOW! Im totally disgusted that a big company such as GMC, has no problem squeezing the little people of America!

Bought 2011 GMC Acadia in July of 2010 for my wife. Check engine light came on at 35,000 miles. Dealer says needs timing chains and guides replaced. Going to cost 2,900 dollars. Will cost me 55 percent and GM will pay 45 percent. This should never happen at this mileage. GM knows they have a problem with this motor seeing they have a revised chain and guides. Don’t understand why there is not a recall or class action lawsuit for this problem seeing when you Google this problem you see it is very prevalent. Will not be buying any more gm vehicles anymore. And you should think twice before you buy one.
