The Mazda CX-80 Will Be A Truly Premium 7-Seater
Posted On: February 3, 2022
Mazda has just begun production of the all-new CX-50 crossover, but it's not the only new model we can look forward to in the coming months and years. We recently discovered that Mazda appears to be working on a coupe, but whether this arrives or not, the SUV onslaught will continue with a host of new models. Among them is the CX-80, a more premium version of the existing CX-8. It's unclear if the new SUV will be offered in the US, but we do know that it is destined for Europe. As a huge seven-seater with premium aspirations, we see no reason why it shouldn't be offered in our market. According to Japanese scoop website Spyder7 - the sister company of which has provided the above render of what the CX-80 might look like - it appears that the CX-80 will be much like other Mazda SUVs, but with a clear focus on increased luxury and style. The report also claims that the new SUV will ride on Mazda's large vehicle platform and will be offered with a variety of 3.0-liter six-cylinder engines. These will be both gasoline and diesel-powered and each type will come with the option of mild-hybrid technology for improved fuel economy. Unfortunately, power figures and more have not yet been leaked or announced. If the CX-80 does follow the Mazda CX-50's design (pictured above and below) in a larger format, it should be pretty attractive, but it may need to boast unique features to set itself apart, especially since Mazda intends to launch CX-60, CX-70, and CX-90 SUVs. We look forward to seeing just how different these new models will be, but we may have some time to wait yet. The CX-80 is only expected to launch in Japan in 2023, with other markets to follow thereafter. We wouldn't bet on seeing it arrive in the States though; even Honda's latest seven-seater won't be coming to America.

Yes, my wife and I have gone through five Mazdas in the course of fifteen years. We used to purchase European cars exclusively, but have since jumped off that ship! Quality control issues abounded with our European luxury cars. Anyhow, this is a Mazda review. First off, let me just say that people are most adamant about getting their voices heard when they are upset; it is human nature to complain. However, it isnt often that we will write home about positive experiences unless they were truly out of the ordinary. On that note, this has been my experience with Mazda in the past fifteen years. My wife and I purchased our 2001 Protege MP3 brand spanking new, off the lot, in late 2000 after our BMW 325s engine failed completely. We had the MP3 for about five years and clocked in 260,000 miles. In that amount of time, the trunk started to retain water after 50,000 miles. What did we do? We removed the plugs in the trunk to let water out; PROBLEM SOLVED. At around 100,000 miles, a clunk started to appear in the rear end of our MP3. As it turns out, the bushings were bad on the rear sway bar. We upgraded to polyurethane and problem was solved. At around 160,000 miles, the rubber intake hose developed a crack so we installed a cold air intake. PROBLEM SOLVED. In 2005, we were t-boned when a motorist failed to stop. Our poor yellow MP3 was totaled; it went to automotive heaven and was dearly missed. Overall experience with the MP3: smiles every time we drove the car. The MP3 did not have the best fit and finish, had a harder sport-tuned suspension, and had more road noise, but we felt so connected to the car each time we drove it. We decided to purchase a brand new 2006 Mazda6 S (V6 manual) off the lot after the death of the MP3. We loved the little 6, which was roomier than the MP3 and much more upscale. The double wishbone suspension made U-turns a hassle, but boy was it fun to take around twisties. In 2009, we decided to purchase another vehicle so we opted for the 2009 Mazda6 GT, which- unfortunately - was only offered in an automatic. The 2009 was certainly more of a blast in a straight line (much more hp than the 2006) but was somehow lacking in overall driving connection. Additionally, Mazdas decision to switch to MacPherson struts somehow made the car feel more tame. After clocking in 89,000 miles on the 2009 MZ6 we traded it in for a used 2007 Mazda5 (only 12,000 miles and a manual transmission! ) in the summer of 2012 because our family grew to a size of four (two more kids) overall. In the fall of 2013, the Mazda5s thermostat went out, so that was a $40 fix and 30 minutes of my life taken away. Afterwards, the throttle body on the MZ5 gave out on us in 2014 at 95,000 miles. It was a $180 purchase for a new OEM TB, plus $15 for new coolant and 20 minutes of my life. It was around this time that we decided to purchase a ‘14 Mazda3 Sport (manual) in February 2014 because my wife and I absolutely fell in love with the cars aesthetic. We drove the car out the lot at $21,500 with huge smiles on our faces. It is now February 2015 and we still have our 2006 Mazda6 S (128,300 miles), 2007 Mazda5 S (112,200 miles), and 2014 Mazda3 S (3,111 miles). In the years that we have owned the 06 Mazda6, we have only had to change the oil, brakes, tires, and coolant. NOTHING MECHANICAL BROKE DOWN. As for the Mazda5, the biggest issues were only the thermostat and throttle body, which set us back less than $300. The 14 Mazda3 is still too new, but no issues have arisen yet.Overall, our collective experiences with our Mazdas have been very pleasant. We conducted extensive reviews before our purchases and we had realistic expectations of Mazdas flaws in their cars (bumpy suspension, increased road noise, etc), so not once did we feel cheated by Mazda (or anyone else for that matter.) However, for every day that we drive our cars, we love the experience. Sure, they arent Porsches or Ferraris, but for the money, they were certainly a pleasure to drive. Plus, can you fit five people and 30 cubic feet of cargo in a Ferrari? I think not. This has been our experience with Mazda. Who knows, we might be outliers in Mazdas brand quality? We intend on getting the ND Miata soon as well. I hope this review was helpful.

I truly love my Mazda. Had leased a Mazda 6 for 3 years. Liked it so much I leased a new one for three more years when my first lease was up. Has all of the best features you could want. Comfortable and classy. Plenty of storage room in the trunk and all of the controls are easy to use and understand. Only complaint is that the controls on the levers behind the steering wheel can’t be seen in the dark.

2005 Mazda 6 GT head light bezel melted due to heat from fog lamps. After this occurrence, Mazda denied a third replacement. The newer model fog lights were moved to the bumpers; therefore, it was a known issue and Mazda chose to ignore this. 2010 Mazda CX7 GT NAV is outdated; Mazda refused to provide updated software, claiming NAV systems are accessories covered only by a 12 months 12k miles. NAV is standard equipment on GT model, not an accessory. It has poor material and design of smart keys - Mazda refused to replace broken key case at only 8 months old. Mazda Capital Finance bank does not inform buyers of limitation or guidelines, leaving consumers with the short end. Purchased my CX9 in late 2012. Purchased the top-of-the-line touring with all the options. Got the top extended warranty and made sure I was set for 10 years. I love the car and how it drives and handles. HOWEVER, the Bluetooth stopped working properly July 2013 and Mazda spent almost a year blaming my phone (Blackberry) and my husbands iPhone. Finally, in August 2014, they admitted they have an issue with the software and it was a module issue. Mazda CANNOT fix it. They keep putting in test modules yet they refuse to provide me with respectful customer service. I said I would be their test subject and help them, no thank you for all my time and they have made the problems worse, not better. And when I asked Mazda Canada to have the engineer working on the issue call me, nothing... I asked them for compensation. Nothing... Now, I have a car where $2,500 worth of options dont work. I cant sell the car and I cant trade it in. Mazda has left me stuck with a car they cannot fix. Mazda Canada has put it back on the dealer and is even treating them with disrespect and indifference. Feeling left in a lurch! DONT BUY A MAZDA, STAY FAR AWAY....

While the 2014 cx-5 has some nice features such as blind spot monitor, (which is kind of necessary since rear visibility is not that great) it has some quirks that I dont like. If you live in the hills, the fancy moving headlights are horrible, visibility on low beams drops off so that if you are traveling up or down hill you have to put on your brights to see. We have the touring model which has a push button start but no button on the door so you have to pull out the fob to enter the car. A minor inconvenience but the most annoying thing I discovered the hard way is that if the fob drops out of your purse into the seat, and you lock the door, you will get locked out of your car. We had Push button start Nissans for 8 years and if you tried to lock the door with the fob inside it would alert you with a beep and open the doors. In the Mazda, you just get locked out. The final issue is the climate control knob. Shortly after purchase, the climate control knob would not stay on defrost and the air wasnt coming out of the vents it was supposed to. We contacted the dealership and they checked it and fixed it, but a month later it did the same thing. We contacted them again and they said that Mazda was aware of the problem and they had to special order a part by vin # to correct it. We had it fixed a second time and its been 3 weeks and the climate control wont click into defrost again! The dealership has been good about wanting to fix it, but so far they havent been able to figure it out. The dealership said our cx-5 was not the only one with this issue. Perhaps they have fixed some of these quirks with the 2015 /2016 models? I wont buy one again. Im going back to Nissan.

I have had to replace my brakes and rotors twice on my 2009 Mazda 6. The first time I replaced the brakes and rotors, the car had 23,180 miles. Mazda did not admit fault, but basically covered this up by good willing my rotors and only charging me an inflated price for the brake pads and rotors. I had to replace the brakes and rotors a second time at 68,012 miles (36,975 miles after the first time). I filed a formal complaint through Mazdas corporate headquarters and got nowhere. They say its normal. The mechanic who just replaced my brakes and rotors for the second time and has 20 years of experience completely disagrees. I have a string of emails between Mazdas corporate rep and myself that I can provide. Mazda is completely unwilling to do anything and refused to even pass my case along to a supervisor. I am concerned that I will have to continue to absorb the cost for a product defect that Mazda is not willing to admit it happening. I would like to pursue legal action.

CX5 with 105,000 miles. Started car, backed out of garage, proceeded to drive away and a loud noise just before the car died. Ended up pushing the car back to the house and into the garage. Spent a few hours looking over everything and could not find the source of the problem. Checked the oil and it was fine. Checked fuses, all were good. Checked starter and alternator, all good. The next day I looked under the passenger side of the vehicle and notice two drops of oil on the garage floor. Checked oil again and it was up to level. Followed a small trail of oil pooling on the dust cover (under the engine) and saw two jagged holes in the engine block just above the oil filter. I wish I could post pictures of the holes and block pieces. The engine block wall is VERY thin and not what you would expect. Mazda really went cheap on manufacturing these SkyActiv blocks! The car belongs to my wife and is out of warranty range so with $13k left owed on it, were screwed. One more thing to add is Mazda had already replaced the defective automatic transmission at 80,000 miles.

At around 4:30 PM just last October 2, while traveling south at 30-35mph on Hunziker St. near Wall St. Tigard, OR. I had to center a piece of debris in the road and it struck and punctured the engine oil pan. This minor contact deployed both airbags which busted the windshield and knocked out my radio, vent louvers and rearview mirror. My research via the internet found this to be an issue with 95 Miatas. Please look into this issue to confirm if Mazda is responsible for the bags/glass/control module, sensors and switches. Understandably, the oil pan is my problem, and thank goodness I was not injured by the bags or fling glass and was able to maintain control of the vehicle.

Does anyone know why this may be happening? I love the car (2010 Mazda CX9) but am fed up with it not running when I need it. Something is pulling battery down when it is parked in my garage overnight. Any help would be appreciated everyone if baffled at what is causing this. Cant trade it off. Just bought 6 months ago and have problem ever since. Owe too much to trade now. Help.

I have previously owned 2 Mazdas. The last Mazda 6 was totaled in accident. As I recovered, I began to decide on a replacement vehicle. I was drawn to Mazda. The new 6s do not have the same sporty look as my previous 6, so I considered other styles. As we were test driving several vehicles, including a 3, the salesman pointed us to a cx-7 under the dealership awning. He pointed out the incredible deal due to the enormous vinyl windshield cover at $21,999.00. We test drove the 7 and decided on this vehicle. The salesman had us consider owning this vehicle versus another 7 with lesser options for similar retail. Inside, another man entered the cubicle to inform us that the windshield cover had been put on the wrong vehicle. I am familiar with signing and obligation, so relevance here is the constant. The vehicle was not just on the lot, but in a hot spot under the awning and according to the conversation, had been signed wrong since at least the previous day.I did not purchase a vehicle from the dealership that day or since then and have been deliberating on the most respectful way to handle this situation. I look forward to action to rectify this unusual situation.Cordially,Lucy

I went in for an oil change and full circle inspection, but little did I know that Ill be unhappy with service. About a week or so later, I actually took notice that a/c was not working as good as it did before serviced by Mazda, and as a normal routine of checking fluid levels, I also noticed that the oil was low. On 9/25/11, I called the Mazda service department and spoke to Lee. I informed him the exact information and he told me to bring my car in for service. So, I schedule an appointment for 9/27/11 at 2:15 pm.I went in just to be told that in order for Mazda to service the car, I would have to pay $129 for the a/c and that if oil was short, I would not have a problem unless it was below low. I did explain to him that my husband had to put in a quarter of oil because it was so low. He suggested that I bring it back for another oil change and they would deduct a quarter off the amount. He was not willing to consider by chance that air was leaked out of the car by Mazda technician and not enough oil was put in the car by Mazda. He never stated over the phone about paying for them to check a/c or anything. I drove from another city just for poor service once again.

I have a 2000 Mazda B4000 pickup with 69k miles on it. I bought it new and have given it the very best of care. It is in pristine condition and I had planned to drive it for many more years. In the last month I have had two episodes of sudden unintended acceleration: I press the brake and instead of stopping, I accelerate. The first time, I was approaching a red light at about 35 mph. I applied the brake but the truck did not slow. I applied the brake even harder and it slowed a bit but I could tell I wouldnt stop in time. Fortunately the light changed and I went on through. It worried me, but I took it to be a fluke. The second time, I was pulling into a parking space in a strip mall. When I applied the brake, the truck rocketed forward. I slammed on the brake and was able to stop but the RPMs were so high, the drive wheel was still spinning. I flipped it into neutral and turned the key off. Had there been an obstacle, or heaven forbid, a pedestrian in front of me, the results could have been disastrous.I immediately drove it to the mechanic who has serviced it for all these years but could not demonstrate the problem so they could not offer a fix. I called the Mazda dealer and he assured me there are no recalls for this unit. I have searched the Internet and found many descriptions of sudden unintended acceleration, but none for a Mazda B4000. I love this truck and had planned to keep it for years to come. Now I am afraid to drive it. Any suggestions?

Hi! I am a new owner of Mazda 2. I was shopping for a small car and it just happened that Mazda Scarborough is on my way, so I drop in and check what they have and I like what I see on their display, so I closed the deal on a Mazda 2 DS yesterday. I got the car the next day, so I was amazed with the service, I have know nothing about the car, so I search about it and I am very disappointed when I saw the promo.Financed Pricing for new 2011 Mazda2 GX (B5XB51AA00) is $15,595 financed at 0.9% over 84 months equals bi-weekly payments of $88 with $0 down payment, cost of borrowing is $499 with a total obligation of $16,094. As shown, Offered Pricing for 2011 Mazda2 GS (B5SB51AA00) is $19,895 financed at 0.9% over 84 months and equaling bi-weekly payments of $113 with $0 down payment, the cost of borrowing is $637 with a total obligation of $20,532. All offers include freight, P.D.E. and fees. Offers exclude HST. Visit mazda.ca or see your dealer for complete details? Estimated fuel economy based on Natural Resources Canada Fuel Consumption Guide. Actual fuel consumption may vary.I felt Ive been robbed by this sales people. Im so disappointed because what they make me pay is $162.00 a month and that is with 3,000 down payment, so thats about $32,484 which is the ads said that the obligation is on $20,532 so thats a difference of 11,952. I dont think the tax and the extended warranty will cost that much. Until now, I dont know what to do. I just hope this thing doesnt happen to someone else. I meant the promotion is there why this people never mention it to their costumer because we are the costumer that will be coming back for service and more now I dont even know if I still go there for service. I just hope you guy could help me and can give me some answers. Thanks by the way, the manager I dealt with is Michael **.

So I took it back for the 3rd time and this time, it was at Mazda for a week and still they don’t find the problem. Now, I must go and pay for somebody else to look at this problem. I’m not happy.

The clutch on my Mazda 6 (bought new) wore out after approximately 10,000 miles. Replaced by Mazda Main Agents, this also failed after approx. 10,000 miles. Again replaced by Mazda Main Agent, and lasted only around 10,000 miles. Regularly serviced by the same Mazda Main Agents (except just once).I am 81 years old, have held a driving license for well over 60 years. For many years did all my own servicing, maintenance and repairs. You name it and I have almost certainly had it in pieces. The exceptions being gearboxes and differentials. (Never had one of these fail). I claimed reimbursement for these repairs, but was told it was due to my riding the clutch. Rubbish! when I learned to drive back in the 1950s riding the clutch was a sin because, in those days cars were fitted with carbon (graphite) clutch thrust bearings which being soft would wear out very quickly if one rode the clutch, modern cars are fitted with tapered roller bearings or simple ball races. I never wore one out but the ingrained lesson never to ride the clutch has stayed with me ever since.A letter later from them suggested that I was accelerating away from traffic lights etc. too hard, insinuating that perhaps I was a bony racer. In my 20s, 30s and 40s this MIGHT have been the case, but in my 70s and now 80s I am long passed such behavior. I have done everything required of me prior to taking them to the small claims court, including utilizing the facilities of Mediators but they still keep coming up with silly replies. The latest being that I have the clutch examined by an authorized independent company. They also said that this would be impossible because the parts were thrown away on being removed. I am about to write to them yet again informing them that I have, together with other items, both the clutch and the scored flywheel that was replaced in my garage.Advice to everyone considering purchasing a new car, DO NOT BUY A MAZDA without checking the record of service one can expect from your Mazda main Agent. If anything fails, it would seem that they will do anything to avoid recompensing one for anything failing. My claim will be made under the Customer Rights and Protection Act, under the section stating that any purchase should be fit for purpose and last a reasonable length of time. All the time that this correspondence has been going on, (several months) the worry and stress has had very severe adverse effect on my health. They have been informed of this but apparently consider it not worth their while to make any comment on it. Hopefully, if you wish, I will come back to you and let you know the result.

Back in January, a pebble hit my windshield on my way to the airport. Needless to say, I had damage the size of a .50 cent piece. I called my insurance company and they use a TPA that replaces windshields for them. It took the company 6 weeks to install my new windshield, because every time the windshield was delivered it was cracked. Just Monday, April 25th, I am driving to work and another pebble hit my windshield. I did not think much of it, until then I saw a spider crack going up my windshield... Not again! Is there a defect with these windshields? Then, it takes 4-6 weeks for a replacement to be installed because Mazda is SO backed up from California and then they arrive broken. I would appreciate Mazda to respond and to fix this issue, as this is a serious defect! It is against the law to drive with a broken windshield. And then be told that there is a 6-8 week back order. One window replacement company told me 3 months... are you kidding me! Mazda - you need to look into a recall!!! If not, you will have class-action on your hands!

My husband bought me a 1998 Mazda 626 in June. In July I took to car to get a tune up and to see why the check engine light was on. When they hooked the car up to the machine they told me that the the first spark plug was misfiring and that it showed up that the threads from that spark plug was crossed. I took the car back to the dealership and they told me that someone had glued the spark plug and all my mechanic had to do was to wipe the glue off and the do the tune up. So I said okay and took the car back to Mekinee here in Raleigh. Well, they said they werent going to touch the car so I called up the dealership and they said for me to bring the car to them, I said okay. While Im on my way to take them the car, all of sudden the car broke down along the side of the highway. They came and towed the car, so the following day my husband who is in the military came home and we went down to check on the car and thats when they told us that the transmission was gone on the car. Recently the headlight went off and when approached the dealer they said the headlight was already replaced once by the previous owner but outside Mazda, which might have caused the assembly to go down, contacted Mazda customer service for assistance but it was the worst experience, even after multiple emails and escalations they denied to repair it under warranty. How can they justify the headlight replaced by the previous owner damaged the assembly, even if it is the car is still under warranty, they have no courtesy to customer, please stay away from Mazda.

Back in June of 2015 we purchased a new 2016 Mazda CX5 from Fremont Mazda in Fremont CA. Once we agreed on the price, the car was delivered to us in poor condition, the paint felt like sandpaper (it was not prepped right) and we found cookie crumbs in the cup holder and candy wrappers under the drivers seat. By the time transaction was done it was late (about 9:30PM), but even with the poor outside lighting, we noticed defects in the paint on the hood of the vehicle. The dealer assured us they would take care of it. It was late, and even with all these issues we took the car home, trusting that all would be made right. I could look past the cookie crumbs and the candy wrappers, but in daylight the next day, multiple defects in the paint were very apparent. We took the car back to the dealer, they had a Mazda rep look at it. It was determine that the defects were under the clear coat of the paint, but they were severe enough to do anything about. The dealer offered after some complaining to repaint the hood (could not guarantee it would match) or get us a VISA gift card for $500. As I was pretty fed up with the dealer, we opted for the VISA gift card. It took about 6 weeks and lots of calls, but what finally arrived from Mazda was a Mazda gift card, good for only 1 year, but for Mazda mechanical repairs only. What good is $500 of credit for repairs on a brand new car that has a 3 year warranty? By the way repairs dont include painting the hood. So now I have a car with defects that came from the factory that no one will do anything about. After multiple complaints, the dealer said, Mazda will make the next 2 lease payments to make it up to us, nothing ever happened. Then the dealer said instead we would receive a $500 check from Mazda. That was at least 4 weeks ago, NOTHING!I wish I could say the story ends here, but it got worse quickly. A couple of weeks after buying the car, a piece of gravel hit the windshield and cracked it so badly - the car is not drivable as the crack is along the drivers side of the windshield and quite large. The insurance company authorized a replacement ASAP. This was in early July. Turns out Mazda does not have any replacement windshields anywhere in the US as the model is so new, yet they continue in production somehow. It is now almost 3 MONTHS later and still no windshields available, no date as to when it will be, and no offer of help from the dealer at all.We have made multiple payments on this car since early July, have not been able to drive it and have defects that are permanent in the paint before we even got it home. The dealer not only did not keep the commitment of compensation for the paint, but offered us no help when we found out the back ordered windshield could take months to come in (and it has). We even checked into aftermarket windshields, but were told, they are also not yet available. As a consumer, I believe there is an implied understanding when you buy a new car, that typical replacement parts will be available, clearly not the case with Mazda and the 2016 CX5. We will never look at another Mazda, not because of what happened, but rather because the company and the dealer offered no help. I called Mazda corporate helpline many times. They dont return phone calls and when you do finally get someone, they tell you, you need to be patient, and we value your business, right!

2010 Mazda 3 - Another one bites the dust. I work from the house, do mainly highway driving and put about 100 miles a week if that on the car right now. I was driving on the highway and RPM started to rev up; I couldnt switch gears and clutch gave out from underneath me. Luckily, I was able to roll off the highway when I noticed the problem. Of course, one problem leads to another. The battery then died at the shop. I had to replace it as well. This comes not even a month after the rotors for brakes hit the fan. This has got to be one of the most problematic cars I have seen. A clutch dying in less than 3 years and the worst part is my car was due off its lease next month. I assume this to be a manufacturer defect, and maybe one day they will admit to a faulty clutch. As for customer service, its some of the worst I have ever seen. They review your concerns with an eraser or write with one. Horrible company and car!

2009 Maxda 6S was designed with a security lockout module, but information regarding bypassing or disabling module, or repairing module is not made available to customers. The repair cost is estimated to be $1400.00 and only Mazda is authorized to perform the repair. Additionally, Ford & Mazda appears to control all flow of information regarding complex repairs. At one point there were several post on forums regarding this problem but now they have been removed. However, none of the post offered a viable solution which indicated to me that the manufacturer hires techs to post ridicules comments on the forum. Presently the car will not start ...

Well, guess what? That vibration that they supposedly fixed (with used parts - that I did not authorize) - still rears it head every now and then. I got stuck with the car and they had to change the valve body - on a brand new car that had roughly 3000 miles on it (yes, that is 3 thousand miles) and ever since I have a hard downshift that although the tech tells me he feels, the dealership repair center tells me is normal - this is of course after I returned it because of the hard downshift and the Rep told me that the computer needed to relearn my driving habits. Almost 1000 miles later, it is still doing it.NOW for the new problems. Yesterday I went to shift out of park and the transmission did not shift. 3 times I tried, finally it shifted. This morning I went to start my car via remote and I kept getting a P code on the fob. Book says its because the car was not in PARK. (Um yeah okay - car was parked in the driveway since 6pm the night before... and shut off). Cant wait for the BS they tell me now... Do yourself a favor. DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER MAZDA. NO ONE - I REPEAT - NO ONE IS HELPFUL AND ALL THEY DO IS LIE TO YOU.

We have had a 2015 Mazda CX-5 for about 6 months. Its a comfortable car and is pretty fun to drive (no comparison to my BMW X5 35d but then it was half the price!) My wife drives this car 98% of time. Most of the miles are on the Interstate. We are very unimpressed with the mpg. Claimed for the 2.5 AWD is 30 highway and 24 town with 26 avg. - we are nowhere near that. The current average is 21 mpg! Yes its been awfully cold but even my diesel Bimmer only loses -1.5 mpg average (which is still 25.5!). Ive also found the AWD to be mediocre at best. We have a 2013 Subaru Crosstrek that my oldest son drives and it is 10 times the vehicle in snow. My advice is dont believe all the magazine reviews! Apparently all the ads Mazda is running sells cars and gets good reviews. In hindsight, I would likely have been better off with the Subaru Outback or Honda CR-V. The fit finish and appeal of the CX-5 are great. But if you are most concerned about fuel economy and winter roads...keep shopping.

My 2007 Mazda 6 4 cylinder engine failed with only 107,000 KM. This was 7000 KM after my warranty expired. The whole engine needs to be replaced as it was a catastrophic failure. I had fully maintained my car at the Mazda dealer, changed the oil on schedule every time and had only Mazda technicians working on my car. Mazda Canada would only cover 33% of the replacement engine. This will be the last Mazda I ever buy, very displeased with Mazda Canadas lack of concern for their own reputation and customers.

This is the first Mazda Ive purchased and owned. The purchase of the vehicle was fine and I like the car. However... I asked to have a remote start installed (I live over an hour and a half from the dealership as this is the closest Mazda dealership to my home). I took a full day off work to drive to the dealership and wait four hours for the remote start to be installed. They installed an Mobile Remote Start (MMS) and NOT a remote start as I asked. The Mobile remote start doesnt work where I live and work in WV due to the lack of cell service in many areas. So I asked them to remove it. I had to take off another full day off work to have them remove the incorrect product that they installed the regular Mazda remote start. Its been a couple of months and the Mazda product (remote start) has been nothing but problems! It works one day and then doesnt work the next day. When it does work, it wont start until Im like right up on top of my car and then when you open the door, the car shuts off. I changed the batteries and that didnt do anything. It worked the first day and not the second or third day. I contacted my salesman who said I could bring it back down and they would take a look at it and repair it if there was an issue. He said they would replace it if it was faulty. I went out and looked up the reviews and the reviews all indicate that similar problems have existed (with reviews dating) back to 2012. Apparently Mazda has done nothing to address or fix the issues with the faulty device.I requested a refund (I paid about $500.00 for the product and the installation). Mazda refused to give me a refund. They care absolutely nothing about the bottom line of their customers. This will be the LAST MAZDA I ever buy! Not because the car is bad, I like the car, but because the service after the sale of a 30K+ product is obviously NOT one where the customer care. I will be encouraging all my friends on Facebook and work and everyone from here on out who ask me about my car (its a beautiful car... I get lots of questions about it), NEVER to buy one if they expect to have quality service after the sale! Terrible business practices Mazda! You should be ashamed of yourselves. P. S. I am a service disabled veteran... To all veterans out there... Beware!!!

I purchased a new Mazda CX9 in 2008. It was delivered in June of that year. Since then, my husband who is a mechanic has performed the oil changes and tire rotations. We had our local garage perform the maintenance. My car, at just over 3 years, just crossed the 60,000 mile mark - 60,508 to be exact. The drive train failed. I do not understand how a car could be running fine one week and as soon as it crosses the magic number it can not run. My husband spoke with our dealership, and they wouldnt even discuss options that he could look into himself. Now I have an undriveable piece of metal sitting in the driveway, while I try and pull together the several thousand dollars necessary to make it run. I am very disappointed at the lack of assistance and customer service from Mazda. I would very strongly recommend not buying a new vehicle from Mazda ever. Any company that will promise you the world and then basically thumb their nose at you should not be allowed to operate.

Hi - My 2010 CX7 with full Mazda service history and only 57600 miles on the clock, stopped at 60 MPH on a busy dual carriage way with my kids in the car, I could barely steer or brake it was terrifying! Luckily we managed to come to a stop only because it was a quiet time of day on school holidays or god knows what could have happened. I called Mazda to advise them as I thought they would want to know about the issue, total stone wall.I had the car towed to a garage nearby who told me the engine had seized due to it being starved of oil, the car was FULL of oil. They checked and it was a block in the sump. After doing research I realise this is a very common problem with Mazda and I cannot believe they are totally ignoring this issue, not help offered. My car was worth #7.5k now its worth nothing! Where is Mazdas duty of car to customer driving this car, why are they not making sure dealerships are checking this issue to protect people at service, what will it take, someone to be killed! I am just disgusted at their refusal to acknowledge this issue.

We bought a fully loaded CX5 in 8/14. It was the best decision weve made. Because of my back problems, I need to have a seat thats adjustable as well as an upright position. The CX5 provides that for me. Last summer we drove across the country and depending on my back, I was able to make adjustments to make it very comfortable for when I drove as well as being a passenger. The safety features such as the blind spot monitoring, the rear camera, and the automatic lights and windshield wipers were so helpful when driving. I felt so safe in this car. Mileage was good too, the car still has under 12K and were doing 26.7 mpg total. My only negative is that the rear hatch/door is not power controlled. In a fully loaded car I wouldve expected that, but it was not an option. I do want to note about some of the other reviews here - people need to explain their problems better. Owners also have to be realistic. How one drives a car does affect brakes. Front end Collisions only trigger front air bags (not side ones). Injuries can be caused by not wearing seat belts. And yes, sometimes cars have defects, but tens of thousands of cars are made of a particular model each year. A few will have problems from the get go. This is why many states have lemon laws. But if 5 people report the same problem, this is not a defect. Most likely your car got that 1 in 25,000 bad part. In that situation, if you can definitely prove it was Not your fault, you may get the maker to pay for the repair. But usually you cant, so hope the bill is low - that’s all.

After buying a 2015 Mazda CX-5 pre-owned vehicle I had a drivetrain issue at 60K miles that cost $2800 to repair in October of 2021. Even though the preowned warranty was for 7 years and 100K miles they wouldnt cover the repair costs due to some technicality they cited with the warranty agreement. The original dealership changed ownership twice in the three years, so I brought the car to another dealership for repairs and dealt with Mazda corporate for reimbursement. The dealership that did the repairs agreed it was faulty drivetrain parts, but told me Mazda corporate said it was out of warranty. After repeated attempts to contact the customer experience center both by phone and email, over several months, I could never get past their first line of customer service to make my case to anyone with any authority to review my case. On several occasions they indicated they would get back to me, but never did. I would recommend against buying a new or preowned Mazda. They do not stand behind their product as evidenced by the initial faulty drivetrain and lack of customer support.- Steve

Mazda MX-5 drain system design flaw. Mazda NA does not care. I had a very similar experience to previous post by Daniel of Palo Alto, CA on Feb. 2, 2011. Mazda North America customer service seems happy to lose a lifetime of customer loyalty for a $10 parts and maybe $100 labor fix that was a known issue since mid-production year 2006-2007. I should have been notified or the quick fix should have been done at one of the many visits to the dealership I had between 2008 and 2010 (over $16k in invoices over those years). I cannot begin to speak how angering it was that customer service insisted the entire Mazda NA Operations does not have access to Technical Service Bulletins (TSB), and therefore it would be up to the dealership to cover the fix for a manufacturing design flaw if they desired. I told the rep that the dealership actually pointed the other way citing that Mazda NA has to decide to cover it free of charge since it is not the dealership that designed the drain system. I told the rep that I want to speak with another more experienced agent or a supervisor to confirm that. The rep flat out flipped the script citing, No. No other agent or supervisor can help you. I am sorry you do not understand that. I am sorry that you interpret what I said that way. I am sorry that no one here can help you. I am ending this call now. Are you serious?! Are they trying to hurt market share? I personally will not be buying a Mazda again unless I have disposable income for a disposable car. The damage to their reputation in North America has been done in my eyes.

On July 25, 2015 my new 2016 CX-5 only two months old did not want to start. I checked the battery and it showed it had power but my car was as dead. I called my dealer at Lodi N.J. where I bought the car for advice and Rahsheed told me to call Mazda roadside assistance and I did. Spoke with a Mazda roadside assistant and told her what was going on with my car and she told me a flatbed tow truck will be at my location within a hour. One hour later comes the flatbed tow truck and I asked the driver if I could ride along and so I did. We get to Koeppel Mazda Queens NY. I tell the tow truck driver that I am going inside to let the manager know that we are dropping off my car. The manager Andrew ** steps outside with me and as the tow truck is backing up and bringing my new car down it scrapes and damaged my new Thule bike rack. Andrew the manager tells him to stop what he was doing and that the car needs to be lowered on the street. At this point the driver is getting frustrated and levels his flatbed truck in which he forgets to put the rear straps and chain hooks on the rear of my NEW CAR and also forgets to put my NEW Cx-5 off off of neutral and failed to put it in park and Failed to deploy the emergency parking brakes on my car. He then drives forwards, fast and slamming on his brakes causing my Brand New (Mazda CX-5 GT with Tech package) to shoot forwards and crashing into the back of his tow truck causing front end damage. Three Mazda certified workers seen the accident including the service department. Manager Andrew ** and I were all in shock on what just happened. Andrew and I took photos of the damaged SUV and Andrew told me that he would take care of the report. I advised Andrew that I don want my car back due to the loss of my resale value caused by Mazda. On 8/14/2015 I stopped by the repair shop that was fixing my car to get some things I left in the car. To my horror my car was in the back of the shop dirty with my whole SUV front end sitting on top of my cars roof, not to mention both my front windows was rolled down getting dust and dirt all over the place and not to mention there goes my new car smell and the body shop wasnt even certified Mazda repair shop. I know that when a new car rolls off the assembly line everything is calibrated, the transducer in the front of my Mazda emblem with the laser on my windshield work hand in hand so that my auto brake assist work properly. Now my new car will have a damage report on carfax that I did not cause, all Mazdas fault. Why did my new car did not want to start in the first place? It was only two months old with just 2000 miles on it. Mazda Roadside assistance contracted the tow truck company NYC Tire Auto Care Inc. The incident happened in front of multiple employees of Mazda (Manager: Andrew ** (Service department associate: Izzy ** and two others from Parts Department that will vouch what happened. I will now lose thousands of dollars on my trade in when I decide to trade inmy 2016 CX-5. I stated that I dont want my car back to every Mazda personnel I spoke with due to the fact that it was Mazdas fault. I just want a brand new CX-5 with everything I put in but sadly I am getting the runaround. Even my insurance company called in my behalf and they also getting the runaround.

NEVER BUY MAZDA. Auto friend, I need your help and your expertise are greatly appreciated. I have a 2016 Mazda CX9. I am fed up with MAZDA. I began having issues with my car prior to the powertrain warranty going out at 60,000 miles. My car began to idle very badly as if I had bad gas. The dealership suggested that I put in the fuel injection cleaner which I did. No resolution. I wasted money by advice of Dolan Mazda and paid out-of-pocket for new spark plugs for my vehicle. The issue was not resolved. Dolan then stated that the fuel pump went out which was the reason why my engine was full of gas and the car lost power. The fuel pump was replaced and the issue was not resolved. My car was transported to California because Mazda Reno does NOT have certified Mazda techs. My injectors and fuel injection system was updated in California yet The issue was not resolved. My car lost power again and I returned it to Reno. They stated that the throttle body went out which would cost $650. They replaced the throttle body. The issue Is still not resolved. I clearly have a lemon. Now they are telling me that they have to call the tech line because they have no clue why my vehicle will not run. Now they’re telling me there could be another issue as a result of the fuel pump going out and messing up the fuel injection. They said it was a domino effect that affected other issues on the car which is going be very expensive to repair. I have been without my car going on two months now and I’ve been going back-and-forth to the dealerships as my car was at 50,000 miles. The first time that Dolan MAZDA took possession of my car, they put 63 miles on the car test driving it. When I receive my car back from California, an additional 372 miles was put on my car. This is ridiculous!! This car again is clearly a lemon and they cannot figure out what’s wrong with my car. Now MAZDA is saying since I am now out of warranty, I must pay for repairs. I was in warranty the first 3 times they attempted to fix my car.

Mazda CX-7 manufacturing failure - When it comes to their advanced designs,
Mazda CX-7 manufacturing failure - When it comes to their advanced designs, meticulous craftsmanship, and quality factory parts, all Mazdas are created equal. In March of 2011, my now wife and I were in the market for a new vehicle. With the thought of a family not too far off in the distance, we decided that it was time to sell her 2002 Ford F-150 that she had owned since college and look for a pre-owned crossover SUV. After doing some general searching, she found that she liked the Mazda CX-7s. We did some exhaustive searching online and found a reasonably priced CX-7 being sold by a private seller in San Antonio. We received a pre-approval for financing through my employer. So that weekend, they made contact, worked out a place to meet, and on March 18, 2011, we became the owners of a 2007 Mazda CX-7 Sport. And that is where the honeymoon ended. After six months, we began to have mechanical issues with the vehicle. A diesel-sounding chug coming from the engine seemed off for an unleaded four-cylinder SUV. The vehicle had less than 60,000 miles when we purchased it and by the time we began to notice the issues, the drive train warranty had expired. I began to do some in-depth research into this year/make/model and the results I unearthed were astounding. The 2007 CX-7 has been plagued with poor craftsmanship direct from the factory. The horror stories about this vehicle are anywhere and everywhere. I even saw one to where the consumer experienced full engine failure before 30,000 miles. The common issue seemed to be a part called a VVT actuator. No recalls or service advisories had been issued for engine parts at this time. However, in January 2012, an entire half-decade after the vehicle rolled off the assembly line, we received a Variable Valve Timing Noise and Timing Chain Noise Warranty Extension notice by mail from Mazda.A month or so after we received the notice, the vehicle began leaking oil. We took our vehicle into a Roger Beasley Mazda Center and had it examined. The oil cooler on the vehicle was beginning to fail. We explained the notice that we received in the mail and they were already well aware of these issues. We were told the engine had engine sludge and with it being a second-owner vehicle, we did not have the documentation to prove that regular oil changes had been performed. Instead, all repairs and replacements would come from our own pockets. The result ended up being a need to replace the VVT actuator, the timing chain, the oil cooler, and replacing all of the gaskets. The technician showed us a side-by-side of the current timing chain and the new replacement, the used chain had literally stretched to be about half an inch longer than the replacement. We drove off the lot and hoped that the problems had been solved.Within two months of the repairs, the engine began making a high-pitched whining noise. My wife contacted the dealership that day while at work and they said to bring it in. On the way to the dealership, which is less than 10 miles away, the vehicle died on the freeway. This ended up being the result of a blown turbocharger. Again, we had to take money from our nest egg to replace yet another part on this vehicle. Mazda Corporate has been overwhelming uncooperative with patrons regarding this matter and has repeatedly declined to take ownership of their poor engineering of this particular model and instead, continuously places the blame on the purchasers of their vehicles, claiming poor maintenance has resulted in the failure of its parts. We are now hoping we can sell the vehicle to avoid the fate of so many other CX-7 owners - that of owning a giant paperweight with a $300 per month payment. Help me please! My engine problems began at 38,000 mi. Dealership only replaced VVT actuator once, before stating it was over a year therefore they would not replace a second time without my covering the cost. Another dealership fought corporate to have it covered. I was thankful! Then real problems began. Two turbos later and many code lights naming everything under Mazda sun, I had the last ever illuminating engine light that would not clear regardless of what Mazda service did. I hate this company. It was finally paid off but I had to sell it for $5000, because it needed a new engine. The private engine dealer suggested I not even spend the money for a new engine because it would be the same garbage that was in there.

I took my car (Mazda RX-8) in late night on 7/1/2012. I filled out the form stating my AC was less than optimum. I also told them the coolant light was coming on but not staying on and that the car was not overheating. I called the dealer at 4:30 on 7/2/2012 to check on the status. I was told they were getting prices and would call me back. When they called back, the quote was $400 for a sensor and sub tank. I declined the service since it was just a light issue. They quoted a repair of an AC control at $889.59 plus taxes that came to $1000.08. One has to have air in Memphis, so I authorized the repair. When I arrived to pick up the car, they read the repairs performed to me and stated there was damage to the AC face plate during prior work (Quote from invoice - the face plate is already damaged inside from someone doing prior work, but all seems okay though). I stated that the AC had never been worked on by anyone other than the Mazda dealer. I paid for the service, $1000.08, got in my car to find that the radio did not work and there were no lights on the radio/temp display nor were the lights on the AC controls working. I went right back in the shop to notify them. I was informed that there was no one available to look at the car because it was late on 7/3 and the next day was a holiday. The tech called Gary, who said they would send someone to pick up my car at my work on 7/5/2012. They came and got it. It was at the shop for a couple of hours when Gary called back to inform me the problem was with the face plate. The cost of this repair would be around $500. He stated that the displays were working at that time but he didnt know if it would last. They brought the car back to me. I made it less than a mile before the radio and the Ac controls went out. I smacked the dashboard and they came back on. The next morning, the same thing happened again. I have never once had a problem with my radio and AC controls before Garys team took it apart. If it had truly been damaged (by Mazda in a prior service), one would think in seven years, I would have had the problem prior to this service. I have placed a call to the Service Department manager, with no response as yet.

I purchased my 2013 Mazda 2 from Daytona Mazda Mitsubishi back in November of 2015. I registered the vehicle with Mazda USA online since I live in Tennessee and the car was delivered to me by the dealership. I have been having significant issues with the steering and saw that there was a recall sent out by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration back in 2016. I have sent the dealership and Mazda several emails over two years. They have chosen to ignore.

At approximately 2 years old, my car started tripping the check engine light and AT light. So, I took it to the dealership to have it checked out. It had around 26,000 miles at the time. They cleared the light and said a cable must have been loose or something. Fast forward two months and again, it was the same issue. But this was followed by leaving me stranded. I had it towed and they diagnosed it as low voltage, but werent sure if it was the battery or what. They would not move forward until the battery was replaced and apparently on a brand new car. Mazdas 3-year 36,000-mile warranty means absolutely nothing. Even though I have regular maintenance at the dealership and had it in at 24 months for the light, they would only cover 25% as it was now after 24 months. Batteries have a 12-month warranty before being pro-rated. Keep in mind, once you replace it, the exact same battery has a 3-year warranty. The battery itself even shows 36/60 on the outside. I called North American operations and they blew me off. I asked everyone else up the food chain and nothing happened. They wanted $155 for the battery at the dealership or $100 at Autozone. Ultimately, I had to buy a new battery. Since Mazda covers nothing at twice the price, I bought the one from Autozone which is a 36/8 year warranty. Mazda then proceeded to charge me $55 to put it in. Save yourself time, money, and sanity. Dont buy Mazda. And if you decide to anyway, dont buy from Suburban Mazda in Michigan. I originally bought 2 Mazda 6s from them in 2009 and they will be my last.

I purchased my CX-5 in 2015, and it is just at one year old. The windshield cracked, starting from the left hand side and reaches across right in front of the view. Researching this, it is apparent that many Mazda owners have experienced cracked windshields. There was no rock, just started cracking. Under warranty still, but the dealer will not honor the windshield. Replacement cost including labor is $850.00.Also, the tires on the car were nearly bald at 16,000 mi. The cost to replace the set was over $1,600 one year into the ownership, and Ive had to pay an additional $2,500 in expenses. If I had it to do all over again, I would have purchased the Honda CRX. So sad to give a company so much money, and have no similar consideration in return. And the dealerships do not take ownership of the problems; Its the Mazda manufacturing, in Japan. Ill never purchase another Mazda again. I hope this encourages someone to not purchase any Mazda vehicles in the future. Ill spend an hour or two at the dealership on Saturday to mention these issues to prospective buyers.

My wife has a 2007 Mazda CX-7 (rated in Consumer Reports as a Used Car to Avoid) that she purchased new in 2007. Over the past year, she has had instances where it begins to make a terrible noise around the front end and when she checks the tires, the lug nuts for the front drivers side tire are loose to almost falling off. She has had this looked at by multiple car repair and tire specialty shops and all have told her nothing is wrong with the studs or the nuts and they just werent tightened properly. The last time it was looked at (just a week ago!) the mechanic was planning to replace the studs and then notified her that there was just a build-up of rust/corrosion at the base of the studs that wasnt allowing the nuts to tighten all the way. She just called me a few minutes ago in tears because she once again heard the terrible noise, got out and checked the tire and four nuts were almost off! Would love to know if this is a problem other CX-7 or other Mazda model-owners have experienced. Very frustrating!

If the vehicle remains idle for 3 days or more it has to be towed in for repairs. The dashboard panel goes blank. Now, the dealership is telling me the cause of the problem is the engine failing compression test and thats a cost for the consumer when I have complained about the vehicle since day of purchase. I purchased a used 1996 Mazda 626, 4 cylinder, automatic and shortly after the purchase, the transmission started slipping and eventually failed. I had my trusted mechanic install a rebuilt transmission at a cost of about $1200.00. Around 2,000 miles later, the transmission started slipping again. This car (Mazda 2010 CX-9) has had 3 unexpected accelerations since last November 2012. These incidents are terrifying. Mazda is aware of the problem. Do not buy this car. It is dangerous. I had my car for 9 months before the first incident. The brakes do not bring the car to a stop. I have to pump them and it feels like air. All 3 incidents have been on the highway. I was fortunate enough to get off on the median without killing myself, my passenger or other people on the road. This car is dangerous and a lemon. My car is at the Mazda dealer now. The dealer is helpless to help me because Mazda Corp has tied their hands and do not want to have millions of dollars spent on recalls.

As indicated in the service record when I got my first oil change, I had 3,000 miles on my 2012 Mazda 5 when I first complained to a Mazda dealer that my car would wobble when going forward into a right turn and in reverse when making a left turn. The service people said they could not recreate the problem as stated on the work order, but it would mysteriously go away for a while when I complained during multiple oil changes. Recently, at 25,000 miles, the service manager at this dealership finally told me my rotors were out of round so they were going to ground them down to make them straight. I requested they be replaced with new rotors but they said no. The dealer who sold me the car with the defective rotors said no and Mazda Headquarters said see the dealer who sold me the car.The dealer I bought the car from said its an issue of wear and he doesnt do warranty work unless hes paid by Mazda. His service mgr. said he didnt feel or see a problem during a test drive after the rotors were filed down so they refused to replace them. If it was an issue of wear, the problem would not have been occurring since I bought the car. Filing down the rotors mostly eliminated the problem, thus indicating the rotors were bad from the start. To make sure the dealer saw information about the wheels wobbling in formal complaints on paperwork from the 3,000- and 25,000-mile oil changes, I filed a complaint with the state. They sent me a notice that the dealer said it was a wear problem and they would check with Mazda Headquarters!!Now Im wondering if the State of Michigan Attorney General has the will to tackle big business. I sent them every piece of information related to the problem and I would like my rotors replaced. Anybody out there have any ideas, similar problems?

Got to love the great comment We have to verify if its on warranty 1st. In July 2010, I drove out of the Mazda dealer with my Mazda Tribute. In 2012, the back hatch lock was broken. They fixed it on warranty. Then again, this past May 2014, it broke again. They said it wasnt on warranty anymore, and it would cost $250.00, which I went ahead and got fixed. This did not seem to me like normal life of wear and tear. At the same time, my AC stopped working. They charged me another $100.00 to tell me that it could cost up to $700.00 to fix it. Again, this is not to me acceptable wear and tear. I live in Canada and use the AC 2 months out of 12. They said that the vehicle still runs the AC in winter to get the humidity out. Anyhow, I figure that if they had told me as a selling point, buy this vehicle and you will need to spend money to fix things that should be normally working given the age of the vehicle, but wont. Sign on the line please. In June 2013, I went in for some noise in the front undercarriage. They said that they had to check if the warranty was still on. Now, I drove the vehicle out for the 1st time on July 9th, 2010. They were arguing with me that it was in May, at 1st. Then, they gave me another date in mid-June. I said that I would go home and get my purchasing contract signed and dated. I came back with it, and there it was. July 9th, 2010. Still, they were not convinced. I said that any half bit lawyer would agree with me, since there it was on paper. A day later, I went back, and they said that the financial adviser had filed the wrong contracts. Imagine my surprise, they were finally willing to take my original contract as being the correct one. I am not at all satisfied with the service nor the quality of this vehicle I have at this time. I am still making payments on it, and on top of that, I need to fix things that should be almost outliving the vehicle.

Mazda CX-7 2011: In June of 2014 I lost my first turbo, at 54,000 miles. After having the turbo replace it turned out that my fuel pump was also bad, had that replaced. In July of 2015 a weird noise began coming from the area of my turbo. Brought it to the Mazda dealership and was told it was probably a wrist pin. Brought my car to another dealership and it turned out a few bolts between the turbo and manifold had broke and the gap was causing the whistling noise. Had to pay for bolt replacement out of pocket (over $1000 because they also insisted on replacing the seals on the turbo). November of 2015 my second Turbo went. I was over the Warrantied mileage and warranty was denied. The turbo warranty from previous installation had also expired after 12 months. Replaced turbo at my own expense. January of 2016 the car flashed a check engine and oil light. Pulled over and immediately shut the car down. After having the car towed to a repair place it was discovered that the crankshaft bearing had gone bad and destroyed the motor. I basically have a worthless car with only 67 thousand miles on it.

I bought a new Mazda MX5... It is only a few thousand miles out of warranty. That is when my Air Conditioning clutch froze up (of course after the warranty ends) on the Air Conditioning Compressor and now it blows HOT air. Mazda wants $1,200 to replace it, so I spoke to Morgan at Mazda about this problem, thinking Mazda would stand behind it considering the small amount my AC unit was used. The thing is I live in the Mountains in NC and really did not use the Air Conditioning very much. I bet that AC unit has only been used 10% of the time... Plus, I have purchased 2 brand NEW Mazdas in the last 5 years. Mazda still refused to stand behind their product and cover this under warranty... I am done with Mazda. I will never buy another Mazda again and I am going to warn everyone I can about Mazda poor service after the sale. What a horrible way to treat your loyal Customers. Something similar happened to my Father and Dodge stood behind their AC unit even after the Warranty expired... Now my Father will only buy a Dodge. Mazda just does not get it. Mazda just lost an entire family and friends of future Customers. NEVER AGAIN...

Deceiving with its looks! Dont be tricked by poor quality product and expensive after service fixing. Feel bad for the body designer, talent wasted on rotten interiors. 2014 Mazda 6, replace batteries every 8-10months. Inside plastics falling off. Exterior plastic bumper covers falls off 3 times, forced to glue on. BT audio problems, and now... Transmission failure! With every single service encounter, service folk says its normal to have battery replaced every year and a half and then changes story to a Year and now. Under a year... Poor customer attitude. Service folk highly unprofessional. Biggest regret to trust this brand. Stick with Toyota or Honda. Want nice looks, wait and save for better.

Within 40.000[sic] miles our bluetooth unit in our CX-9 broke. No warranty and a $900 repair bill if we wanted to repair it. We opted out and are now using Bluetooth headset. Less than 60.000[sic] miles CD player goes out and we cannot load or take out the CDs and not even play the cds that are in there. Less than 80.000[sic] miles DVD player goes out. So basically we are back to good old radio only. Also one of the entry keys failed which is about $300 to replace. Sealing rubber on the driver window side is leaking and creates a lot of cabin noise. That said the car drives nice although it is a gas guzzler. So if you are looking to Zoom without any media and lots of wind noise the Mazda CX-9 is what you are looking for. Called the Mazda Experience line but they simply say you are out of warranty so regardless of what is wrong with your car you are paying.

I bought my CX7 new in September 2007. I love the vehicle except for its very poor reliability. It has cost me in excess of $2000 a year to maintain this vehicle. Most parts that fail are notorious for failing but Mazda either wont cover the cost or their extended warranty is so meager it doesnt apply to my vehicle because of the mileage e.g. AC compressor; Oxy Sensor. I just discovered that my engine bay high pressure fuel pump is not working properly. I replaced the one in fuel tank 8 months ago and if it fails, it can wreck the engine. Mazda wants $1400 for the part! A better quality aftermarket part is available for less than half this price. Also, the Oxygen sensor on the Cat Converter has to be replaced at huge cost. I replaced the other one eight months ago. Together my current repair bill will be about $2000 including labor. You can find lots of stories just like mine on the internet (e.g. Edmunds).

I purchased my vehicle 2 years ago and just recently got to 20,00 miles and had to have the rear disc brake pads replaced because they barely passed inspection. I called the customer service number and they said they would gladly replace them free of charge if I went back to the dealer immediately that day to get it done. I then learned that this is a flaw that some of the CX-5s have including the current models. I leased my vehicle so I will be returning it before the 40,000 miles when it will probably need them again. It is expensive to replace them every 20,000 miles when they should last at LEAST 40,000 miles. If I owned this vehicle who would have to keep replacing them when they wear sooner than they should, ME!!! That is an expense I can not afford.I also have an issue that when you open the back hatch there is not enough light to see what you are doing. I like the way the car handles in the snow, which is why I leased it to begin with, to see how well it did. I like the car and would love to buy another when my lease is up but I dont know if I will because of the expense of replacing the discs every 20,000 miles.

I have a 2010 Mazda 5 with 23,200 miles which I owned for just under two years. I had a rear tire blow and brought the vehicle to the dealership. The tire was worn on the shoulder down to the steel belt but the rest of the tread was fine. The dealer contacted Mazda but because I could not prove that I rotated the tires (I do them myself and I check tire pressure bi-weekly) and because I did not have an alignment done at 12 months/12,000 miles I was not covered under warranty. This is completely unacceptable for a car that is less than two years old to have that kind of tire wear. I took the car in for an alignment to a third party and was told that both rear cambers are out of spec but they cannot be adjusted once they leave the factory. I believe I purchased a defective vehicle but Mazda will not replace it and it appears there is no fix to prevent it from happening again. The cost of the alignment and four tires was $582.

This is about my second consecutive Mazda sedan I have owned. After I was notified of the recent recall of the passenger side inflator on my 2012 Mazda 6 I wanted to also have the drivers side one replaced, at my expense, and when it was later recalled (as it most likely would be), I wanted to be reimbursed for whatever my cost was. I first presented this request to the dealership who told me the cost would be around $700, because they said the inflator part alone could not be replaced. Because I am willing to pay this amount I then contacted Mazda Corporate Customer Experience where I was told Mazda could not promise any reimbursement but would “review” such request. Finally, I contacted two executives at the Corporation with this request. My last request to one of them was made by letter mailed by certified mail. Although the letter mailing was verified received by USPS, it has now been some 3 months and I have not received any reply and I dont expect to. My Opinion: This clearly shows me: MAZDA DOESN’T EVEN CARE ENOUGH ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS TO EVEN RESPOND TO THEM IN THIS SITUATION. This experience has now cemented my decision to never purchase another Mazda again. I probably should not have purchased this one because I had a problem with the moonroof not always closing on the last one that was only fixed because a friend of mine knew someone at Mazda that I was able to connect with who got the problem finally fixed after my having taken the car to the dealership numerous times and told they “had to replicate the problem” before it could be fixed.

I know this should not be happening to a car thats 10 years old. Help! In anticipation of a response, thank you for your time and attention.

Mazda customer service is useless! They do not bother once you have bought the car! Stay clear, buy another make! Mazda keeps on making alibis and finally turns down customer complaints. Mazda installed a tail light that burned both tail light housing. I reported this for replacement but Mazda strongly turned down the request. They even used ego tripping words that means they are still untouchable and they can turn down any customer despite of their world renowned factory defects. Where can users effectively complain Mazda customer neglect? Please help! With the poorest after sales service, Mazda should not be in the car business. I have used Toyota and Honda for ten years and I have not had any traumatic experience that I have on my first month in using Mazda.

A week ago I unlocked my car and opened the door to a very loud sound that was like a jackhammer or machine gun. I was alarmed, had no idea what was going on, and finally figured out it was the car stereo. I drove the car to my local mechanic, enduring horribly loud and unabated noise the whole way, and they confirmed it was the stereo. My mechanic told me to take it to Mazda, which I did. Mazda charged me $100 to take a look at the stereo, then told me it had an internal failure and would cost ME $1,050 to replace the stereo and another $150 to install it. I was appalled. My cars warranty was for three years and I have had it for three years and nine months. My problem. Not theirs. I called Mazda USA and they agreed. They added that because of my high miles they wouldnt consider chipping in to replace the stereo. Since when did miles have any wear and tear on a STEREO! Very tacky on Mazdas part. I have loved my car otherwise and would have definitely have purchased another of the same model soon. Now I will never buy another Mazda. Their behavior is scandalous.

I cant press down, so I have to pull my E-brake, turn my car off, take my key out then I put my key back in and start my car and its all fine. Luckily its only ever happened to me when there are no cars around but its getting more consistent 2 times in 1 week.

My husband just got me a CX-5 2014 a month ago and is already in the dealer. Yes, in the dealer; no one believed me. Check engine on, bad leak valve, drained battery for no reason; and the bad thing is I don’t use that truck. I just use it to take my kids to school. It’s a shame. This is the number where my truck is. No one can believe a brand new Mazda 2014 the year is not even here, and the truck is already giving me headaches - Faulkner Mazda, 4437 Street Rd. Year and a half ago, I bought a CX-7 2008. At first it was great, loved that car! It was perfect for our family and loved the way it drove. A year later, things started majorly happening. I noticed that the tires were wearing down fast. I had it aligned and rotated when I needed to. I did everything on the right time line, but still the tires started going bald fast. Then I took it in for a routine oil change and was told that the oil cooler was leaking. When I bought the car from a dealer, that was an issue, and the dealer fixed it before I bought it. Now a year later, it was leaking again. So I took it to my mechanic and he checked it out. He found that not only was it leaking, but that the engine was going because there were metal parts in the oil. I had to buy a new engine! Now 6 months later, the oil cooler is leaking again!!!! I asked the Mazda dealership why? They didnt have any answers for me. Now Im backwards in this piece of junk!!! And I have to have a car to go to work. I have a limited income because Im a teacher and when talking to Mazda, there is nothing that can be done.

Mazda 2015 - Im wondering if anyone else is having the same issue with Mazda windshield breaking easily when hit by a rock. We only had our car for 9 months and we had our windshield replaced twice already! The first one happened twice in one week after 3 months purchasing the car. Now, it happened again after six months. The first replacement was an original Mazda windshield, now we are trying a different brand to see if it happens again. I had a Toyota Celica year 2001 for 12 years but never encounter this type of problem, so I dont think its my driving. I hope they do something about this, because according to the company that did my car the first time, they have also had plenty of repairs done for the same car. Hope this review helps!

Purchased the 2014 Mazda CX5 in November of 2013 in Appleton, WI from Bergstrom Automotive. Noticed immediately the rear passengers inside windows were frozen solid and that snow was blowing inside the door of the rear passenger side. Called Mazda immediately and they told me they had no complaints about this issue. They told me to take it to the dealership to test it out. The problem was they test it inside and not outside when the weather is freezing. They did nothing about it and sent us home with the Mazda. They said I could trade it in for about a $5000.00 loss and get a new 2014-2015. The 2014 only has 3800 miles on it. The experience has been a nightmare.

It’s very reliable and you can’t lock yourself out of the car, which is a huge bonus! It’s been a great car and I ask a lot of it! I have been having problems with the throttle (Mazda Tribute V4) which has been sticking. For over a year now, I have been looking to see if there were any recalls against them. Finally when I looked today, it was only for the V6 engine. When I called them today through corporate and service department, I asked them why not on the V4, and they couldnt give me a correct answer. If its within the year, it should be for all Mazda vehicles. I have been in so many almost accidents with this vehicle and Mazda wants to charge almost $300 for a diagnostic and cleaning the carbon out. That is ridiculous. I am a single parent trying to make ends meet in this poor economy. This is the worst vehicle I have ever bought.

I purchased a 2008 Mazda CX7 Grand Touring turbo in 2011 at 32K from CarMax. I was very happy with the vehicle and maintained it appropriately with oil changes etc. I am now at 78k Dec. 2014 and without warning the car started to make a loud noise and would not accelerate over 40 miles. I called CarMax about my extended warranty and was told it expired at 75K and I was at 78K. The car was taken to a reputable mechanic and when he pulled the engine down there was a massive amount of sludge on the engine resulting in cylinder head, timing belt, transmission damage. It appeared the car wasnt maintained. The engine has poor circulation of oil and although I just had an oil change 2 weeks prior to this incident it looked as if there wasnt any oil in the engine. It is irreparable. I still owe $9,000.00 on the vehicle and cant drive it. I just had hip replacement surgery and I have a disabled brother. We both depend on this vehicle and I am caught in a bad situation. It appears Mazda is aware of this problem per the complaints logged on the NHTSA website for the same make and model indicating engine problems and Mazda ignoring this issue. If I give back the car I still owe money!!! I cant afford to pay for a car and have to get one also. Buyers beware of buying a Mazda!! There is a hidden problem the company knows about and will not make good on something that they know is wrong to consumers.

My car slammed to a halt, my tire disconnected and rotated 90 degrees. I have owned many older Classic Vehicles, and this is the first time I have seen this without a full side on collision. I called Mazda Canada, and got told the Car was out of warranty. As a result of there not being a recall on this part I am on my own. Damaged caused was Control Arm, Ball Joint, Front and Rear Bushings as well as a new axle need. You have to love being taken advantage of. This was my first Mazda purchase, and my last.

Was shopping for CX-5, and when you know how difficult and stressful it is
Was shopping for CX-5, and when you know how difficult and stressful it is to deal with dealership, you know how great it is to be taken care by a great sales person. For the first time I walked in, Mr. Jason **, took care of me with no pressure, taking the time to answer all my questions, printing me clear and detailed sales offers for financing and leasing, and for the first time in my experience, was trustworthy! Went several times to meet him for questions, until the time we were going to sign for lease. Provided him with all requested necessary documents and information the evening before. On May 30th, 2018, after 3 hours spent with him with all paperwork’s, we had to wait for his Financial Manager Nick, who was supposedly too busy in assisting other clients, when his office was empty. Jason could not even have an appointment schedule from this busy person. He asked me to pay half of the deposit to hold the car for me, and charged my credit card. Therefore, he asked me to come the next day, May 31st, in confirming that Nick would call me to set up an appointment, and to confirm me the credit approval and monthly payments amount. Waited until 1:40PM to contact Jason because I have not received any feedback from anyone. Around 2:00PM, Jason texted me back in apologizing that he was assisting clients, but no information regarding appointment, credit approval or anything related to the lease offer. Only because the Financial Manager is again too busy and so well organized that he cannot delivered. Explained to Jason, that if they are not interested by my potential account, it will force me to seek for another dealer offer in order to not lose the benefit of 0% interest financing/lease special May sales. At 3:00PM, just a quick text to let me know I was approved for the amount, but no appointment still... After many back and forth with several Mazda dealerships, I accepted another offer to get my car ready that evening at the last minute! Texted back to Jason to express my disappointment about his Financial Manager and the General Manager of this dealership, who both let him down and made him lose the sale. Also requested to be refunded of my deposit charged on my credit card.As of June 4th, no news about either my refund, or a call from any Manager to apologize or anything else. So, I called to speak with Mr. Mark ** who is registered on BBB as General Manager, but no one as his phone or can transfer my call... Called 4 times to be transferred on voicemail, so asked to General Manager to call me back, and left them all information needed to understand the situation. Mr. Chris **, General Manager called me back, but had no information about the situation. Expressed my disappointment about the way his dealership is operated, his Financial Manager who did not delivered, how it is a shame to not support and provide resources to his great sales persons to close sales, and claimed for my refund. He asked my credit card number again, because he claimed no one will have it and it is the only way I could receive my refund... wonder what they do with card receipts after you pay, and may be they do have a shoe box accounting records systems! He also told me not to be worry about his management style… Provided him with my card information, and he claimed I will be refunded same day. He told me that he would talk with his Financial Manager to understand the situation, but I advised him to talk with Mr. Jason ** who lost the sale because of Financial Manager.I feel very sorry for Jason because, from the beginning to the end of the process during my 4 visits, he offered me a great service and beyond expectations compared to all dealerships from several brands I went to for months for car shopping. He was a trustworthy sales persons (which is very rare) with a consultant approach, very patient with me in explaining in details all my questions, and professional. Even this dealership is 1 hour drive from where I live, I really wanted to close the sales with him. In summary, I would not recommend this dealership if you don’t have the time to be lied around, and have to wait for the Financial Manager to deign to do his job professionally. If you are not in hurry, well then asked for Mr. Jason ** who is the person I would recommend.

Mazda 5 is sharp looking car with lots of great features for an affordable price. Great experience driving for everyday and long road trips. Very roomy with the third row seating option. We have had very positive experiences in owning 3 other Mazdas. Great driveability in town, freeway or long distance. Gets good gas mileage. Has Bluetooth feature for answering and making phone calls hands free. However, it does not have power seats or lighted mirrors on the visors. Sometimes the catalytic converter has an odor of sulfur that service technicians do not seem able to smell or find the cause of when we have it serviced.

I own 2009 RX8 purchased brand new that same year. At the time of this review in Nov. 2012, it has only 16K miles. Problems with car not starting began long before; however, I was attributing it to flooded engine. However at 13K miles, seven months ago, it turned out to be faulty transmission range sensor switch inhibitor (part# **). A few days ago while on vacation, the same part failed again and we got stuck some 400 miles away from home. According to dealership mechanic after he spoke with Mazda tech support, this is a known problem; however, Mazda chooses not to address it. My daughter brought her Mazda Tribute 2002 in for the 6712A Recall, which is something to do with the ABS Braking system. The dealer that did the work was very nice and courteous. She lives in North Dakota and had the work done in North Dakota. She was not having any trouble with the ABS braking system but thought she should have it done for safety reason per the notification she received in the mail. After the work was done, she drove away and a little ways down the road her ABS Light came on. So, she turned around and went back to the dealer that did the work. They checked it over and could not find why the light is coming on. She explained that the light has not coming on before and now after the recall, that is coming on and staying on. The dealer said that she was going to have to pay to do the diagnostic testing any further in order to fix it. They sent my daughter away with a questionable proper working braking system because Mazda didn’t want to pay for a recall procedure that more than likely is the cause of the problem. My daughter went home, parked the vehicle and called the Mazda Headquarters the next day (1-800-222-5500). “I recommend everyone that reads this, call and complain about the response I receive about this situation”. They said exactly the same thing; she would have to pay for any further diagnostic testing to find out the problem. At that point I called to hopefully clarify the ethical thing to do and for the important customer service we all hope to receive in any situation like this. I tried to emphasize to them the level of awareness to the liability issues in sending someone you love dearly home, with possible braking issues. But they stuck with their resolution that she needs to pay to fix it. Never mind the safety for their customers. They said that I may not have anything to do with the recall! Maybe it was just coincidental that the light came on now. They said that if the report comes back that it was caused by the recall they would reimburse her for the correction/diagnostics. Why would she have to pay first for something that was never wrong at the beginning? I told them to put it all back in the way it was. Mazda said they can’t do that due to Liability reasons. Wow! Go Figure. My point is that it’s not the money issue with this, it is the ethics and I would like to see some real customer support in something nowadays.

Im contacting you in regards with my recent experiences with the Mazda dealership in Peterborough Ont. I replaced a part on my car last winter after it fell off due to hitting a snow bank. A month or so later, the same part fell off my car for no reason. I did not hit anything. I took my car back to Mazda to have it replaced. After they looked at my car they then proceeded to tell that I owed them $30 or more because they looked at it and cut the piece off that had fallen off. They then gave me a quote for a new bumper and the piece that I had already replaced once. Which was over $1000. I refused to pay for a piece which I just replaced and told them I could not afford a new bumper. The lady at the service desk then told me that it looked like I had hit something with my bumper and thats why the piece had fallen off. I was insulted at the fact that she was trying to put blame on me when I had done nothing. The next day my father called and explained the situation to the manager and they then said that they would replace the part free of charge and for me to contact them to arrange an appointment. I gladly called them back and told them to order the part and that I needed to speak about finances with my dad about getting a new bumper, and that I would call them back. I called them back and set up an appointment to get the piece put on, but a few things came up and I wasnt able to go to the dealership. I cancelled the appointment, and the next thing I know Im receiving phone calls from blocked phone numbers that I have a new bumper waiting for me at the dealership and I need to come in and get it put on since I ordered it. They have called me numerous times and left what I would call rude messages on my cell phone an my home number. I called them three times on did not get an answer at the service desk. They have now informed me that they will be sending my bill to collections if I do not get the bumper put on. I refuse to pay for something that I did not order, and especially how Ive been treated. This is my first experience with buying a Mazda and dealing with them and I will never buy a Mazda again due to the experience. Im a good customer, I pay my bills, and never wanted this to go to this extent. I look forward to hearing back from you.

When I came out I found out that the BSM (blind spot monitor) stop working. So I took the car to the dealer and they found out a very tiny scratch, an inch long. It wasnt a dent, not even damage the paint. But they said that this damage the computer, and they send me to their Mazda collision shop and want to charge me 1,500$ plus a new computer. I bought a 2007 Mazda CX7 with 28k miles on it. I love my car, except now we have issues. At 30k miles, the timing chain was replaced under warranty. The weekend before Christmas, the turbo went out. We had the car towed back to our Mazda dealership where they filed a claim with Mazda and it was denied due to sludge. We have always had our oil changed and even provided our service records. They still denied the claim. As having all this done, we did learn that this is not the first turbo for our car! One was replaced at 12k miles! Now I am trying to deal with getting it fixed and from what I am seeing, many people have the same problem! Please email me if this has happened to you! Thank you!
