I currently own a 2015 Subaru WRX that I CANNOT DRIVE. I had an issue where the pitcher stopper mount. Literally tore itself off my firewall. I came to find out that is was a design error from manufacturing date. I called them to get this claim settled so I could go on about driving around and enjoying my vehicle. Well as of January 2020, they denied my claim stating the air struts installed on my vehicle were determined to be the problem. Well... thats weird; I put those on 5 days prior to even going into the dealership. Well I went on about seeking ways to get this repaired until around late August of 2020 I saw a TSB posted by Subaru in 2017 showing that this repair was to be fixed under warranty no matter what. Well, I was lied to by the first rep who was taking care of that back in January, let me call again with this new info and see what they would be able to do for me. And so I did. I was told by this new rep that this TSB expired in June of 2019 (which I was not even mentioned or told about) and basically said, Good luck, that isnt our problem to deal with. I cant drive my car without having any drivability issues and I am currently looking at my options because I cant afford a $2000-3000 bill for a problem I didnt do. Honestly, I am beyond upset with how Subaru handled this and wish they let their customers know when there is issues that have to be looked at before just kicking us to the curb. Ive been a loyal customer for 10 years but this will be my last Subaru I ever own.

Bought the 2014 Forester in July, 2013 because of the reliability of the brand. Car has been great as I put about 800 miles on a week commuting. At about 35,000 miles I started to notice that the oil light came on about the midpoint between oil changes, at about 3500 miles. Have to add oil about every four weeks, really burns through the oil. No drips on the driveway, car runs great. Love the car but have to fix this oil issue.

My husband and I bought our very first Subaru (2007 Outback) believing we had bought a great car that would serve us for many, many years. We were wrong! At 69,000 miles the turbo blew. Then, recently, the turbo blew again at 82,000 miles and took out the engine with it! Subaru doesnt want to do anything but sell us a new car! I am mad as hell and want to tell everyone that Subaru is not what they represent themselves to be.

Both me & my wife have Subarus. Given what Ive found out I probably wont be buying another one ever. My wifes 2002 outback is leaking oil & coolant now. She has about 120k miles on it. Cost to fix at a non-Subaru shop $2300-$2500.00. This is total BS as far as Im concerned. All the hype with these cars and it has been a KNOWN problem by Subaru. No recalls or fixes it would appear either. So far my 2005 isnt a problem. Only 60k miles also. Our regular mechanic is an ex-Subaru service manager. He said I can expect another $2300+ bill for the 2005 as well. If I had known about the problem I certainly wouldnt have bought my 2005. From the other reviews and complaints about the newer Subarus here, its definite that I wont buy another Subaru. Another mechanic has just recently told me about this as well.

I actually recorded the issue this morning and again will be back at the dealership. The Dealership is great. However, my new Subaru Outback 3.6R Touring is not. I loved my 2013 Outback 3.6R and want it back. Never had these issues and it’s not like I can just run the vehicle down the street for issues but have to drive over 30 miles one way. I bought my 2017 in December and the screen freezes up; now a total of 6 times. The camera wont work right and there is a too long of a hesitation from reverse to drive and no one can find the problems. Dealership reset and again the same problems. The scariest was this past Saturday. Mapping, clock everything froze, literally had to pull over and stop the car and then restart it in order to make it sync and work again. If they cant fix this issue someone better be finding my 2013 Outback and getting it back for me since I never had any issues with that one. The 2017 since I have purchased has had one issue after another. It seems others are having these issues as well so why isnt this being recalled or fixed.

My 2014 Outback was my 3rd Subaru. They had changed to full synthetic oil and one has to use that as the company supposedly tightened up their Boxer 2.5L specs. First oil change at 3K was OK, 2nd at 7.5K later, as they recommended, was still OK. After that, was on a trip and oil light came on after about 3K miles. Eventually found a place in the rural area that had 0-20W which is required. Only half qt required. After another 2K miles, another half quart required. After that, the scenario continued to repeat. After an oil change, 3K miles and half qt needed, and at 5K after the change another half qt. Through several changes. Factory had lowered the period between changes to 6K, but after using 1qt of the 4qt original supply, I went to changing every 5K miles. Then found a CR report lambasting Subaru for their oil use. This was not leaking oil, but consuming it. A couple of autos, Audi and BMW - some models - were worse, but everyone that I talked to considered using a qt every 5K miles very excessive for a new car. Subaru would do nothing about it and the dealer - having been graded on the sales process already with the 10s they beg you to grade, was indifferent. Facing the possibility that the Subaru name would be associated with oil burner in the future and that the value of my vehicle for trade would be negatively impacted I chose to trade it in after only owning it 20 months and 27K miles. Traded for a Mazda CX-5 and went to the Subaru dealer immediately afterwards to tell them why I had traded away the Subaru Outback that I otherwise had loved for what I consider to be a lesser vehicle. That doesnt use oil.Dealer made up some excuses and I walked out, a Subaru fan no more. Dealer never even offered to make me a good deal on a newer vehicle that supposedly didnt have the problem. This was in Columbia MO. Despite my having informed them that I had traded the vehicle, I still get service reminders and other propaganda from the dealer. They are that clueless and disconnected and this reflects upon Subaru as being pretty much the same.

My cousin recently bought a car at the Brunswick Subaru Dealer. She got everything she wanted. The next day the dealer called back and said they accidentally sold the car to her at too low of a discount rate and they would like her to come back and resign a new purchase agreement $5000 higher than the original agree amount. I would love to see the contract in writing with highlighted areas where the said mistake was made and a full explanation of the numbers as to how it was a mistake along with the highlighted areas in the contract that give them the right to cancel the previous agreement for a new agreement. I also referred her to my attorney hoping he can find her a good consumer protection attorney. After complaining about the experience on Google reviews I received a response to contact the Sales Manager Mike **. I relayed the message to my cousin. You had the privilege of talking to Eli ** who was rude demanding that she return the car or re-sign a new purchase agreement. Personally this whole thing sounds shady to me. How do you mess up your own purchase agreement when spending half a day with the buyers only to let them take the car home and call two days later demanding more money for their own failure of properly reviewing their own agreement.Im not sure what will happen or if this will be resolved at the dealer. I just want people to be aware of this dealer in Northeast Ohio and the tactics being used. Maybe a word of advice to the dealer if they ever read this negative experiences. Get around much quicker and to the owner hire customer centric Sales Managers who are willing to own their mistakes and meet the customer half way instead of losing a customer for life and for the brand cause we definitely do not feel the love.

2006 Subaru B9 Tribeca - On February 16, 2013, I was on the highway when suddenly the large hood smashed into my windshield - shattering it and sending tiny glass shards all over me. I was blinded by all sides because the impact of the hood slamming into my windshield sent the rear view mirror flying to the floor. I was able to get myself over to the shoulder and when I got out to see what happened, I noticed the entire safety latch mechanism that is supposed to hold the hood down was detached and was dangling from the hood. Obviously, this is a Subaru manufacturing default. I called Subaru of America in NJ and was basically told by customer service and by an executive VP (since I escalated my complaint) that I was out of luck. I begged them to send out one of their reps to confirm this is the issue, but they refused. They know they are at fault, but if they send someone out, they would lose money since they would have to do a recall. And there never was a recall with an issue this serious. I also found 3 other reports online of this exact same issue on my year, model and make. They just dont care about their consumers. They were dismissive and cold. I am beside myself that they wont do these repairs. Did I have to die or get injured in order for them to take responsibility? Now I have to pay almost $4,000 for these damages and it wasnt even my fault. They also told me, You cant prove this is our responsibility. Wow. I will never buy another Subaru again. I will get this one fixed properly because I know I would not be able to live with myself if this happened to someone who bought my car and it was my fault.

Very briefly. Loading suitcases on the roof basket on my 2013 SUBARU OUTBACK, I had to climb on the back edge of the roof, where I rested on my knees, and I even put a folded towel as to distribute the pressure. To no avail, the roof still gave up and got slightly bent. I am not a heavy individual at less than 180 Lbs. This particular model comes equipped with rails to allow the installation of roof baskets, and unless they expect that you load it from a ladder, the roof should have more strength. I can tap dance on my 98 NISSAN Pathfinder and the roof will not bend. I reported to SUBARU headquarters and they have declined any responsibility.

My air conditioner, heater and defogger all of a sudden went out. After having a Subaru mechanic look for the problem, he found burnt wiring that connected everything to the air conditioner, heater and defogger. I could not afford the prices that a dealership charges, so I took it to my mechanic to be fixed. So far in a month’s period, it has happened again. I not only have had to have the wiring replaced twice, but I had to pay a mechanic twice. I am on a limited monthly budget (social security) and to have this repair done twice is not on my list of luxury expenses. Subaru needs to have a recall done for this problem as it could have unexpected consequences for their larger than large company.

After doing extensive research with friends and family, lots of online work, the wife and I decided to purchase our first new car. Big mistake with Subaru. W/in the first year we were burning a quart every 700 miles. The dealer said to carry a quart with us. After numerous complaints to the dealer, they finally decided to do an oil consumption test. After 700 miles (of test) I finally checked the oil level and we were a quart overfilled. P.O.ed... I brought it back and confirmed the overfill... They told me they must not have calibrated the fill gun. Really??They restarted the test to confirm the excessive burn. Dealer then re-did some piston rings and said good to go. 300 mile road trip to find, after 100 miles the oil light came on again... Calling the dealer again, numerous times to get a call back, they said it is normal. Again... My wife took over the communications with them. After only a year and a half I sold the POS... Do not let Subaru BS you. A brand new car should NOT burn that much, let alone need to car Extra oil with you!! I could write a book on this one... but wont waste your time.

I went from a 2007 Jeep Compass. Not the best car - but what I found was that the Compass was miles ahead technology wise - from the 2012 Subaru Outback. Every time I get in the Outback, I curse that dashboard, air conditioning panel and radio. Why must lights and windshield washers be so complicated? Ive about wrecked trying to adjust the AC - because that panel requires your full attention to make a change. If I have a low tire - the Jeep told me the pressure of all tires and which tire was low - the Subaru - tells me, You have a low tire - go find it! Who puts the gas tank on the passenger side - Subaru. Next winter Ill be outside freezing while pumping gas. Plus - why do I have to unlock the cap inside the car before I can get gas. The locks are a major malfunction too... They dont lock automatically when the car is moving, if the car is locked - I manually lock them since it wont lock automatically - I cant just open the door. Nope its locked! The Jeep radio simple - I had 5 buttons for programming radio channels I could put 3 channels on each button - I just pressed the button again. I had Satellite on the Jeep too. With the Subaru - you have to take your eyes off the road again - press FM button till you get FM 1, 2 or 3 then you can select your button. I love the gas mileage, the low profile, the roominess of the Subaru Outback. I HATE the dashboard, lights, wipers, the AC and the radio. Why must everything be so complicated!!! My 2007 was far superior electronically to this!

I have a Forester, it’s a great car except for when the engine light and cruise control light goes on at the same time making the car difficult to drive. I have had this issue 6 times now from 2009-13 and each time I go to the dealership where I bought the car, they say the issue has been fixed but there are always added expenses such as my hose has a leak or etc. Obviously, if I had this issue 6 times, then issue hasnt been fixed. I have been told by the dealership this isnt an ISSUE and that the time lapse in between visits to the dealership are so far apart I shouldnt worry about. When I had this experience for the 6th time this week, I thought writing to company and saying, Hey, when are you guys going to figure this out? Its been five years and a lot of money and no one seems to be able to help me. So today I decided to do a little research. There is a whole site on topics about this issue going back to ’07 all the way up to my last entry… I am still researching. This issue is a big issue, Subaru. Wake up!

I had talked my mom into a Subaru Legacy 3017. I took it in with less than 2000 miles saying it shows the oil is really low. The tech looked at it and said oh its fine and I could not believe it but it showed full at the dealership. The next time I checked it in the drive it showed low again. I thought well there is a slight slant to the drive. That must be it. We had the battery go dead 4 times over the winter. I mean to the point that my jump box that will start my pick up that someone hit in the rear end. I only drive it when I have to haul something so its usually pretty dead. It will start it right up it took forever on this one. Today I am totally lost as to why I called several places and I just get told each place, Oh you need to call here or there. I called about the maps part of this on a 2017 Subaru Legacy that just came from being serviced at 3100 miles and it does have problems they cannot duplicate. I was a Service Manager for GM for years and a service writer. I LOVED the job, but I could at least answer some questions. I have yet to get one question answered. I was going to buy a used Subaru from the same dealership but at this point, I think I will stick with a GM car... I can at least get an answer. I first started to ask if I need to PAY for Starlink to be able to use the maps as every site I look at says with Starlink and maps its so nice. I have not once been able to get the maps to go anywhere by voice commands if I do get a response other than being told she did not understand. Then I would get other states coming up... It took 15-30 minutes to manually get one time the map to work right and every other time I just grabbed the Garmin and said well they have always been my choice of GPS and very easy to get to a location. I asked this girl where the SD card is in the vehicle. She said well didnt I go to that site. The one I am at now and I said YES and have already downloaded the toolbox but on a video, it said they could be located in several different spots. She said call toolbox as she only deals with Maps. I said isnt this all part of it. She said no. Is there anything else she could help me with. I said, I guess not. You did like every other Subaru Phone number I called... telling me to call someone else. They had no idea about Starlink or Sirius or what I was talking about. My next call is going to be to the Attorney General since NO ONE wants to help at all... but boy they were sure there to sell the vehicle. I honestly was going to get a Subaru until I seen how hard it is to get 1 question answered and I had several to ask and was cut off every time... I do better calling DirecTV or my Insurance Co. and they get me to my boiling point after all the BS. I think they need a Class Action suit as we just had the oil changed they said they had to do an update for the battery. The next time I go to drive it the Nav system kept telling me it didnt understand or would send me to other states. I tried to put it in manually and had trouble. I called and got that run around. I have the feeling if we dont pay the Starlink yearly they will even lock you out. I read about that on other sites. One being the piXXed off the page. I am VERY VERY dissatisfied the way I have been treated so far. I just drove the car without the radio on and think I had better check the oil myself as it does not sound right at all... I think I will stick with GM and not get a Subaru like I was going too... Best wishes to all Subaru owners. I did talk to a guy at the after-hours place and I said I would just wait until they are open Monday since he said he could not help at all with why nothing was working.

Complaint and concern for our 2014 Subaru - We are having problems with oil usage, and have had the car towed and had to call roadside twice. The oil light comes on and there is very little oil. We have taken it in and discussed this with the Courtesy Motors in Chico where we bought the car. They say this is a normal thing with Outbacks. What do you say about this? We are tracking the oil ourselves and it is using oil. We cant afford to be on the road with a problem. Please advice. Thank you.

I purchased a brand new 2017 Subaru WRX roughly three months ago. Upon immediately driving onward I was noticing a really bad smell shifting gears and I brought it into a shop nearby. I had the service manager come for a ride-along to view my driving habits and he told me it was OK and that the smell would go away. Now, a couple of weeks ago, I was noticing the gear was tougher to shift into first, and then eventually the gears werent selecting properly. Id be in gear 3 and itd say gear 2, and so forth. Also, the biting point became completely non-existent. I took it into the nearest dealership with only 7800 km on the odometer and the clutch was completely gone.I called Subaru of Canada about it and as they reiterated many times throughout the conversation, the clutch was not covered under warranty since it was a wearable item. The dealership also said it was due to driving error. Upon doing research into this, Im seeing a lot of the earlier models are having the exact same issue and its the highest complaint on record for the 4th gen wrx in both the 2015/16 models - that cant be coincidence. Anyways, Im having to fork 1000+ out of pocket for the expenses and more for the rental Im using since the dealership didnt have any loaners on hand. The lady I was speaking to even said the clutch will go out that quickly depending on driving habits but Im a spirited driver, at best. And theres no reason a clutch should go out in less than 10,000km. Hopefully this helps anyone think twice about their next big purchase, especially the wrx, to actually do some homework and check into any policies or warranty information. This is my first Subaru and probably my last.

I bought an Outback 2017 model on July 2016 and decided to spend more for the convenience of having the ability to set interior temperature of the car before I go in by having the remote start option. The car manual stated that if you set the A/C or heater setting the way you like it before turning the engine off, you should be able to have the same setting when you turn the engine on using the remote start. My car did not do that. I brought the car to the Subaru of Glendale, California on January 20, 2017 and the service advisor told me that it only works for the 2016 and not the 2017 model. When I told him that it did not make sense that a newer model would be less capable than an older one and that the feature is clearly stated in the 2017 manual, he promised to call me on Monday or Tuesday of the next week because that day was a Saturday and he cant get a response from Subaru of America. So I waited and no call came. Today (Wednesday 1/25/17), I gave them a call and was told that the advisor was busy and that he will give me a call. After a while I called again and was told the advisor was off-duty! I called the service supervisor and she said she would connect me with another advisor to help me. I was put in hold and after a few minutes, the line was cut!!! I called again and again, I was promised that somebody would call me back and as I am writing this, no calls! They were so good when I was buying the car, and you think that I was planning to buy the Impreza for the wife next month! Hell no! This will be my first and last Subaru!!!

We own a 3-year old Outback with 37,000 miles on it. Since purchasing the vehicle, we have had to add a quart of oil between each scheduled service (about every 3,000 miles). The dealership tells us that is not abnormal due to the thin grade of oil (which was never mentioned when we were considering purchase of this Outback). It gets worse. In November, without warning, the car lost all power while waiting at a red light on an exit ramp off the interstate. Because we could not get the power back, we were unable to move the vehicle to the shoulder. While waiting for the tow truck, another car smashed into the driver side of the vehicle (hit and run). After months of arguing with Subaru of America, we were told that the accident resulted from the other drivers negligence (rather than because the car was completely dead on the ramp) and, therefore, Subaru was not responsible in any way.The Louisville, Kentucky dealership where we purchased the car finally examined it last week and reported they could find no identifiable problem with the engine. Therefore, the service department concluded there is absolutely no reason to expect this will ever happen again and suggested that we were overreacting because we fear this could occur again, without warning as before, and dont want to drive the vehicle any longer. Not surprisingly, when we asked to meet with the General Manager of the dealership to discuss our concerns, the response was that he was too busy to meet with us (but we could call him). And Subaru has the nerve to boast about its reputation for customer service. You couldnt prove it by our experience. It would be difficult for us to say that Subaru stands behind its product.

I purchased a Subaru Legacy 2008 Special Edition after my Toyota Corolla was totaled in an accident, 5 years ago, as I hear it is SUCH a great car, great safety etc. I felt better buying a newer vehicle for hopes I would have to only do basic maintenance and not have any major repairs for at least a few years as my other car was 15 yrs old. EVER since I purchased this vehicle, it has been nothing but a money pit! It got sold to me with unbeknownst to me a faulty wheel bearing. I had NO idea and rode with a humming noise for several months thinking my car was fully looked over by the technicians and car dealership selling it (I paid 15k for this car mind you!) It needed tires also... so after $700 worth of tires and $300 for a wheel bearing on top of the 15k I paid for it, fast forward to I am now needing MY THIRD WHEEL BEARING!!! IN 5 YEARS!!!I dont do ANY heavy driving whatsoever, do not beat the car, I drive locally on sideroads 35-40 mph or less and sometimes a small drive on the highway to visit a friend. 3 wheel bearings needing replaced on a 9 year old car in the last 5 yrs of owning it???! I presume the 4th is about to go too... Not get past the wheel bearings failing, the car eats gas like no tomorrow. I eat a half a tank of gas in 3 days. Yes 3 days. Ever since I owned the car, (its an automatic) it constantly shifts rough and jerks hard sometimes shifting gears. Or is very sluggish (I have had the transmission checked and everything after I bought the car). Its like the car is choking on itself. I will NEVER buy another Subaru again! It has been costing me so much money. I cannot afford it. And for a safe reliable 4 door vehicle the insurance on it is as much as a BMW or Audi. I should have bought one of those because the parts are just as expensive as a expensive luxury vehicle! Thats another thing parts are EXPENSIVE! Now I took it to the shop and there is oil on the oil pan dripping out (I only have 88k miles mind you and get the oil services every 6 mos). And the entire dual mufflers and cat back is shot and rotting out and needs replacement (it costs over 600 bucks for that). I dont know at this point, but I feel like selling this money pit expensive mess of a junk by Subaru and finding a more quality vehicle that will not need CONSTANT repairs and attention.

I am now experiencing problems with my 2013 Subaru Outback I purchased new from a dealer. I see on this forum, other who have similar problems. The oil light has come on several times and the transmission is surging and bucking at low speeds and while lightly loaded. Ive had the car serviced for these problems twice. The transmission is especially troubling as my warranty expires in 5,000 miles and they cant find the problem. (Design flaw?) So far, I spent hundreds on a throttle plate cleaning and an oil change that I didnt need. Subaru claimed that the oil was over serviced by Jiffy Lube. Okay. So drain some out and dont charge me $77 for an oil change. Plus, nth is didnt fix the transmission. Its still surging and bucking. Anyone else? Should there be a recall? Subaru might have the nicest people working there and might make a very safe car, but if its always in the shop, how would I know?

I want this information to be sent to the International Export Division of Subaru in Japan, to its General Manager. I have a Subaru Legacy 2.0L SW LX year 1998. The material of the front brake pads of the car were very hard. Harder than the brake pads sold by your dealers in Peru, South America. You have placed my life in harms way many times because the car would not stop at low and high speeds. When I replaced the brake pads, the car stopped adequately. Recommendations: Watch very carefully your personnel that work in your quality department like a hawk, better fire them and replace them with a new crew. Your biggest dealer in Peru, Indumotora Subaru, is doing a very lousy job with its customers. I recommend you to kick their ** and make them work, if not look for another dealer that can attend the customers in an appropriate way. All your brochures talk about the outstanding security of all Subaru cars, do something to maintain this remark.

I purchased a 2006 Subaru B9 Tribeca last year (2012) from an original owner and was happy using it until one morning, the hood just popped up, slamming on the windshield while I was driving. Luckily, I was on a local street and was alone on the road so no accident happened, but my windshield was destroyed and needed replacement. Last month, the hood popped up again while I was driving at 55 mph and destroyed again the windshield. Luckily, again, no accident happened and I was able to stop and go home safely. I believe this model has a defect on the hood latch and Subaru should have recalled this a long time ago. See attached windshield repair receipts as proof of what happened.

Ive had my 2015 Forester for a year now. There are some things I like and some I really dont like. I have put 20,000 miles on the car and havent had any mechanical problems. It drives and handles comfortably, and did well with snow and ice last winter. However there are a number of small irritants. One of my biggest issues is the upholstery. I try to be careful, but it is already seriously stained and starting to show obvious wear. No other vehicle has ever shown wear like this. The panels on the doors look dirty and wont come clean. My dog stepped one time on the padded cover of the storage box between the front seats. He left several permanent dents and the plastic coating tore. Hes ridden in several other vehicles without anything like this happening. Also the finish on the steering wheel where I grip has worn off. I also find the headrests to be remarkably uncomfortable, and its not really possible to sleep in the seat. The worst problem is that when the air is dry, as it usually is in eastern Oregon, I cant get out of the car without getting a static electric shock, just strong enough to be mildly painful. Every single time. I try to slap the door as I get out to prevent it from hurting, but I sometimes forget. This happens occasionally in other vehicles, but rarely. As minor as this seems, its annoying enough that it may prevent me from owning another Subaru. Another thing that probably shouldnt matter is the mileage indicator. I really like this except for the fact that it always shows me getting 1.5 to 2.5 miles more per gallon than I really am. I find this extremely irritating. I also hate the fuel gauge, which is a line of small gray squares which are difficult for me to see. Also the speedometer is smaller than I like, with markings close together and the 5s not indicated. Also, the windshield has cracked all the way across even though I never noticed it being hit by anything, and there is no rock ding. I resent that Subaru did not give me the option of deciding if I wanted a fancy anti-theft system that requires a very expensive key and, if you try to use a duplicate, will cause the computer to crash and cost several hundred dollars to repair. I am cynical enough to think that this was not done for my benefit. I would be perfectly happy with an old unchipped key that costs $2 to duplicate. I also dont like that only one door on the car can be opened with the key and that if I use the spare key to unlock the door the alarm goes off. Every single time. There is supposed to be a way to prevent that but it doesnt work. I also have issues with the mileage. If I drive on the level at about 45 mph, I can get as high as 30 miles to the gallon. But if I get on the freeway and drive 65 mph to Portland and back I wont get over 25 and have gotten as low as 19. The sticker claimed 29 highway. Also, though I live in a town with no more than 10 stoplights, if I do any driving around town my mileage drops like a rock. Also if I go up even a moderate hill. Finally, the clock and temperature gauge are not consistently accurate, the speakers vibrate unpleasantly if you turn the bass up, and the cup holder has broken for no apparent reason.

Beware Subaru Starlinks incompetence. Ive had an incredibly dissatisfying customer billing experience... 6 months and counting! At the conclusion of my first years trial of Starlink, they auto-renewed my subscription, which Id already asked them not to. I immediately contacted them about the error. They suspiciously werent able to reverse the charge on my credit card. I was told that a refund check was in the mail. 6 MONTHS LATER, I STILL DO NOT HAVE MY MONEY BACK. I call every 3-4 weeks, and each time they tell me theyre sorry (!), and that THIS time the check is in the mail. Again and again and again. Needless to say, I dont believe them, and could not be more disappointed. Gimme back my money, Starlink!

I stupidly believed the marketing and didnt do my research. This is an unsafe vehicle. The head unit says 60 miles left. Drops to 40. Then runs out of gas. Never let this car get to a quarter tank. Ran out of gas at midnight coming home from work. I had to leave my car in the middle of road. And bonus! Had to deal with a creepy dude harassing me! Fun. Luckily a nice couple scared him off. Subaru finally recalled this car for this specific issue. They need to replace the head units but wont do that. We had this gas issue fixed before the recall. Be aware. It took two weeks and was messed up. Xmode stopped working which we didnt find out until we needed it on a gravel road in the mountains. Also the software didnt match the features of the car. It is a messed up situation and I feel like an idiot buying this expensive car. I will never buy another and never recommend this car to anyone. The marketing is great. The car is not.

Bought car from a Subaru dealership that had very bad dealing with taking care of my vehicle, contacted the dealership. It took about a week to to finally get the car repair, when it was repair I notice I could still smell oil burning, I contacted both Dealership and Subaru of America. Made several complaints but nothing was done about it, I was assured that the problem was fixed and it was done right.I have maintain and service that car, I was told by the dealership and Subaru of America that all was repairs was done correctly and I did notice that the car was losing oil every 3,000 miles but I was told by the dealership that was normal and nothing to worry about. But I was told to maintain the proper oil changes approximate every 3000 miles and since it was a new car and there was free oil change for 2 years I did just that.Recently I learn that it was not normal about the oil leaking and that this engine in this model car. The Company knew of this problem and had tried to hide it from the consumers to keep a better profit for its shareholders, a class action suit took Subaru of America to court and the details was disclose about the engine losing oil and that the company knew and tried to hide it. The court order them to fix it but I am seeing they are not really living up to the deal made to the courts. What they have done is put in place a scam that makes the consumer to pay for repairs to be able to take the test showing that the engine is faulty which cost about 2500 dollars, but if you fix the problem then the test they want to run dealing with the oil consumption will pass cause the leaks is fixed. But that not the end of this nightmare, I also found out the Subaru of America sued the Dealership that I bought the car from for filing out positive report that the customers said how great the service and how please they were with this car when they were not please at all, and the owner of at this dealership, made people to lie about the engine and the car by filing reports. With the bad experiences they had received like me. This dealership close its doors and the records of how many times I was there for service was lost along with how many times I complained.Do you think that when I came back to Subaru of America since I had found a honest mechanic which told me that I needed a engine repair and point all of this problem to me and also told me that this was a common problem with this engine. So the mechanic advise me to return to Subaru dealership and let them know and see how this was going to be handle. I made several call. Got different quotes just to bring it in to be looked at. But finally the dealership of Irvine where most of the repairs and really I am very happy about most of their service but Subaru of America customer people in charge that I was put in contact with has lied to my face over the telephone that there was nothing wrong with these vehicles 2012 to 2016 I think I was told. But later after a few days the person came back with a offer of 1000 dollars off to help in the repairs of this vehicle, which I was told they was doing me a favor. I was also told that my car never had any reports about oil engine leaks by the person I was dealing with to get this matter resolve and I found out that was not the truth. He was telling me cause the Dealership of Irvine underline that their computer show that the right side was repair for a engine problem and the codes were on the papers showing it needed to be repaired again. But the person never shared that with me and the Corporate America knew of the bad dealing of this dealership where I bought this car and why they went out of business and that they had sued them in court and won. This is what big company do. They find ways not to hold up to their responsibility or try to find ways to appease the consumer by either showing they have little concerns and honor, so they give as little as possible to maintain higher profit. I wrote back to the gentleman which I was assigned but also email Subaru of America my concerns and I know they should fix my car for free instead of paying a small portion or the other offer was 1000 dollars off of a purchase of a new car from them. Now dont you find this to be a real big joke and insulting to anyone who has been scam by dealerships selling their product telling you that they maintain the highest standards and guarantee doing business as well as warranty of excellents.Im still waiting. Its been over a week and no reply from the emails I have sent to all parties not even a phone calls. What is sad is the hours and time spent, researching and being frustrated by employees that are told to lie, not to have compassion, and find any possible way to not honor their commitment. I live in Fountain Valley, I was at the dealership on 10/25/19 customer no. **. Now that is if Subaru of America or anyone want to check but I feel what needs to be checked is the class action suit claims what was discovery first and the outcome which was addressed and then find out there is a charge by most dealership for about 137.00 dollars just to check to find out and you cant get the consumption test until the repairs are done, which is about 2500 dollars. And that cost is also at the consumer dime, even if the test shows that it is a problem you are still out this large amount of money, but what even more funny is the Company has extended the warranty of this engine to 8 years but the cost is still on the consumers.

We purchase a brand new Subaru Forester in 2009 and the transmission went at just above 60,000 miles and just over 5 years -- warranty expired barely. We took it to Maple Hill Auto Group in Kalamazoo where they replaced the transmission. All the maintenance records were submitted to the warranty group at Maple Hill. All the preventative maintenance was completed by a reputable company who does a thorough job. We received backlash that some of the work was not completed at a Subaru dealer. The bill for the transmission was greater than $5,000 dollars. Maple Hill did not provide a vehicle and took 3 weeks to replace the transmission. When it was finally replaced, I paid for the vehicle and drove off. After 1 mile the vehicle would go over 25 MPH. I returned and told that they must have received a defective transmission from Subaru. I waited another week and 1/2 to finally get a transmission that cost over 5K. No vehicle to get through the time period and no assistance from the Warranty Group. We will never purchase a Subaru again. We have receive feedback from consumers who own GM products. They provide 100K warranties and they help assist with issues that arise just after the warranty expires. Do not purchase a Subaru. They do back their vehicle the way they should and expect you to overpay for service on their vehicles. They do not value customer satisfaction. They view problems with the vehicle as an avenue to gain profitability.

My girlfriend bought a Certified Pre-Owned 2013 Subaru Outback from Kendall
My girlfriend bought a Certified Pre-Owned 2013 Subaru Outback from Kendall Subaru in Fairbanks in December of 2013. Within 1,000 miles of purchasing the vehicle the oil light came on. We brought the vehicle back to the dealer with the complaint of oil consumption. They told us that a quart of oil every 1,000 miles is Normal. But they would conduct an oil consumption test. Their test showed that the car was consuming a quart every 1,000 miles. Subsequently the oil light has come on 3 times. We called Kendall again and the service manager said this I did speak to one of the Subaru mechanics back there. And he said they are designed a bit differently from other vehicles. And he used the term the crankcase doesnt quite hold the same amount of oil as other vehicles. He compared it with the Toyota. So he said yes you would burn a little more oil faster because you just dont have the amount in the crankcase that other vehicles may have. When you come in I would ask the advisor to please let a mechanic explain it to you, because when he explained it to me it totally made sense. You have got to be kidding me? Do they think we are that stupid? I have the recording of the service representative on my phone. People need to hear this. We are talking a 2 year old car with 22,000 miles on it!

I had a 2003 Subaru Forester. Like so many people, I purchased it based upon its reputation. Car ran fine for many years. At 129,000 miles the head gasket went. This cost several thousand dollars to repair. If you google Subaru Head Gasket Problems you will find many people with the same problem. Subaru claims to have fixed the problem in 2007. At 170,000 the car started leaking oil. At 184,000 miles car developed another oil leak from the engine. The cost of repairs for the leaks was in the thousands. I finally decided to trade in the car for another brand. Some things that you may not know about Subaru: Subaru has a reputation for leaking oil. There are 2 class action suits against Subaru because the newer Subarus burn oil. Subaru claims that it is normal for a car to burn a quart of oil every 1000 miles. Google Subaru Class Action Suit. Many of my friends that talked me into buying a Subaru have also abounded the brand for having similar problems. We have discovered that Subaru oil problems are difficult to fix whether you bring the car to the dealer or an independent mechanic. One other quirky item I learned when being a Subaru owner - tires must be replaced in sets of 4. I had good tires with 20,000 miles on them. One got ruined by a nail. I ended up having to buy 4 new tires otherwise I would have run the risk of damaging the car.

Issue with headlight freezing, building up while driving when it is snowing
Issue with headlight freezing, building up while driving when it is snowing. Not suitable for long driving or out of state especially when it is snowing (I mean not even continuous snowing). Very dangerous so do not ever do that. Gas tank keeps freezing, again when it snows, just a little cold temp outside and it always happens every time. Very inconvenient and unreliable as you have to fix that before you can put gas. Snows build up underneath. This snow should clear up or melted away already as the cars been driven 40 miles 2 way already. I have 2 2004 cars and one is a 2005 Subaru STI and never experienced any of this issue with the WRX LTD.Contacted dealer when it happened a month after driving it in October and was just advised to just pour water or use credit card to take out the ice build up around the gas cap and put w40 or wipe with it on both headlights when driving in snow or when you know it will be snowing later... The headlight I can figure that out because it is all LED and it was flushed inside and not mounted so this should be recalled and fixed. It just like the stoplight here in Illinois that they have so much issues when they all get replaced with LED. Not enough heat to melt the freezing snow (snow and wind), it caused accident because drivers could not just see it.I wrote Subaru like 5 times already about this. All they said is check with the Dealer??? They are both incompetent dealing with the customers once you purchased the car but they will answer all your questions when you are still buying it... Just buy something else. For reliability I have a 2004 Subaru STI and a 2004 Toyota Sienna LXE LTD AWD that are still on the road. Probably cars built in the past last long than newer ones. Ill trade this overpriced car and will just start leasing...

I own a 2013 Outback 2.5. I drive a ton for work, family and fun. Like 30k per year. Pretty quickly I realized my car was going through a lot of oil. Oil light was going on at 2,500 miles. The dealership said it was probably because of the amount of miles I drove. I would just add the oil. At 90,000 miles my transmission was making a horrible whiny noise that got worse. They said I needed a new transmission because they cant fix the CVT. It is an all enclosed unit. They said it would cost about $8,000.00 but would talk with Subaru about getting some help. It still cost me $2,000.00 and I was driving a loaner for about three weeks. At 110,000 miles I get a letter in the mail about a Class Action lawsuit regarding the oil consumption issue. I take it to the dealer as directed. They changed the oil and I bring it back after 1250 miles so they can verify oil consumption. What do you know, my car goes through too much oil! They replaced the small block for no charge. I had my car back in three days. My point is that I was less than happy about the issues my car had, but more than happy with Subarus and my dealers response to those issues.

Hi this is Subhkarmanjit **. I’m from Barrie Ontario. I bought Subaru Impreza WRX 2015 pre-owned certified hardly 4-5 months ago. I maintained my car properly did services on time. I got it on 95,000 kms and driven it all way to Vancouver hardly 4400 km one way. I heard some weird noises. I checked everything. I thought it was just driving it too much then after everything was ok I kept driving it until I driven back from Vancouver again 4400 kms all the way to Barrie Ontario then it’s also my daily drive car and I work in Brampton so I drive it from there to Barrie daily. Like 2 months ago I started having issues with my car. The engine lights started showing up and then my car started smelling like something like burning rubber and out of nowhere. And the rpm was like going up and I felt like clutch was slipping on 100 kph and high rpms and my gears were little stiff. It’s not like that I never driven standard car before. I know how to drive standard. This is my third Subaru. I had 2001 Subaru Legacy before twin turbo then 2004 WRX and this is my 4th manual car. I sold my Jeep and got this WRX. I have this extended warranty from Subaru dealership when I bought my car for almost $3400 and I took it to dealership as I was told everything is covered in warranty so I went there. They diagnosed my car and after an hour service department told me it was just faulty o2 sensor and my clutch was started roasting and gears were stiff. When I asked them will they fix everything they said no they can’t fix o2 sensor until it completely dead and clutch is not covered as bumper to bumper warranty or my full warranty says everything is covered and they did nothing. They just erased my all the faulty lights and charged me $121 for just looking at car and I had to pay ask them to fix my clutch in few days because they asked me to pay either for parts or labor and they told me they will give me appointment for another day so I can come and show my car again and get estimates. I waited. They never contacted me or called me. Then on 3/12/2018 I was on highway 400 at midnight around 12 am. I was coming from Toronto back to Barrie when I was changing my lane from right to left suddenly there was big blast under hood and my whole motor was blown and it was big black smoke on whole highway. I couldn’t see anything and also smoke was inside car. I was on 100 kph and suddenly motor started making weird noises. I was so scared and was alone. I pulled it over to side and opened my hood. Saw big crack in engine near the alternator and everything was hanging even belts pulleys and was big crack in motor and oil spills coolant everywhere. I called my brother and other friends because I inhaled smoke and then my car was broke and I was alone. I called tow guy had to pay him $200 to tow it back. Next day I Went to Barrie Subaru dealership and they told me they will cover everything as I have full warranty and they will take report to SPP and they said they will contact me but they didn’t. I took all my tools and stuff from my car and got rental car. Since then they didn’t contact me. I had to contact them and now the thing is they said spp checked and they approved my repair and said motor will be replaced. I checked everything online did research and asked my friends as new WRX motor cost from $6500 to $10000 and with transmission and used ones from $4500 to $7000. I called Subaru dealership on 22/12/2018. They said they can’t fix the car. The repair cost they is gonna be $23000 and if I pay $6000 from my Pocket they are ready to fix it. They told me my car market value is on $15000 and that’s wrong. I got my car valued before and from Barrie to Oakville dealerships. My car still value still stands at $20,000 to $22,000 and I’m so pissed hearing it. At this point that it’s been almost 23 days my car is standing at same spot. It’s not neither getting fixed or took cared. It’s snow season and my car is almost started catching rust and other things is how can a car repair cost $23000. I’m mechanic too. I know everything I have 3 yrs experience too worked in 2 different countries. This is my biggest mistake. I bought Subaru. I wish I would’ve never bought it. It’s not getting fixed anytime soon almost gonna be month. I’m moving soon to other province. I tried to reach everyone. No one is ready to hear me so I’m writing this email. Please help me up with something or I will take this to court. I’m already so stressed about my life and then my car. I already have so many problems to deal with. Please do something soon or replace my car or something. I’m totally tired to going to dealership and contacting them again and again. Thank you.

We bought a brand new 2012 Subaru Forester. We took a trip from Georgia to upstate NY. The car was burning oil. For the next couple of years, we kept telling the service dept. that our car was burning oil. They kept assuring us it was not a problem. After checking the internet, we found out it was a real problem. We demanded that something needed to be done. They did a oil consumption test. Saturday they agreed that it was excessive and we would be getting a new engine. Why does it take the service departments so long to take action? Now my concern now is what happens to the resale value of my car?

Subaru Outback Impreza 2013 - Around seven months ago, I heard a scraping sound coming from the right side of my car as I was driving. When I pulled over, I noticed the front of the side bumper was dragging against the ground. Completely horrified, I had my passenger lift it from inside and hold it in place until we could get to her place where we taped it (to avoid further damage) until I could get it to the dealer. At the dealership, they sent me to Parts, and told me that this would need to be filed under a collision repair, and that the part they needed to order and paint would either be $600 out of pocket or a collision incident through my insurance. As it is a leased car (and did NOT interact in any way with any sort of collision), I was hesitant to pay out of pocket, but decided that was the best move. Until....A week ago, I was driving with family in town. When we got to our destination, and after a few trips back and forth from the car, to unload our possessions, did we notice that the frame around the light in the front of the car, a grey frame that must be no more than 14 by 10 had completely fallen off and was nowhere to be found. We checked the other side and saw that its light frame was still there. Same side as the side bumper incident but of course, nowhere near the part that had previously become loose.(Frankly, Im not sure how the side bumper was ever secure, because if you take a look at whats against the vehicle frame behind where its supposed to be, there are a series of small plastic knobs that seem too flimsy to carry such weight. In fact, we really thought we might be able to get the bumper back on seven months ago because it seemed that easy and there was no damage to the bumper, aside from some scraping it had endured against the road. A few of those knobs were bent and broken, from the inside, so I really thought that when I took it in, they would see this was an internal issue.)Alas, thats not what happened. And like I said, I offered to pay the $600 when the part came in. It took several months to get that call and at the time I did not have the money to pay, so I put it off. Then, this past week, when the light frame mysteriously popped off the car, I called the service manager at Subaru and was greeted with a very rude response. He did not understand how this could happen, as, Parts just dont come off cars. Well, sir, they do. And they have. And I cant be the only one!He questioned if someone had popped it off and taken it. I laughed. When? While Im in the grocery store? At night at the foot of my driveway? I live in a house, in a quiet neighborhood. And that part was still there before we took off on our trip. No. This likely happened while we were on the road. The real question is: Should a pot hole in the road or a rock or anything on the surface of what were driving on be the reason why a part just pops off? Probably not. With that said, please respond if you have had ANY issues with your Subaru where parts suddenly pop off, especially on the exterior of the car. Light panels, frames, bumpers. I didnt even know it was possible for this light frame to pop off like that. I was questioned repeatedly as to if there is any damage around it, and though I kept telling the same story, I was asked if there was any kind of an accident. There wasnt. And when I take it in to the dealer, they will notice that. I understand where they are coming from. But, Id also like to come in armed with evidence that this CAN happen and DOES happen to other Subaru drivers.I am a two-time Subaru driver. The first vehicle was a leased 2011 Outback Sport, same make and model, and I drove it across the country twice. Zero problems. Ive had this vehicle for under a year, and Im already dealing with parts falling off. Once again, please respond if you have had any similar experiences. It will make a better case. I appreciate it!

It was a broken #4 piston ringland at 1,987 miles. The warranty was initially denied but after much fighting, was reimbursed for engine replacement as a goodwill gesture because Id bought 6 new Subarus in 4 years. At just over 9000 miles (or 7000 on the new engine), #4 piston ringland broke. I drove it to the dealership running poorly but was staying on top of the oil situation as the first motor had chugged its oil. Months later, I had to have the car finally flat-bedded home and it looked like itd been driven within an inch of its life before having the engine dismantled, then all the parts careless thrown into the car, destroying things like my radiator and intercooler and even the seats. Many fasteners were missing because theyd been simply left under the hood. The oil pan and oil filter was smashed as if engine had been dropped from a decent height.I fought with them over it for nearly a year as the car sat engineless in my garage, then finally filed suit when I was able to get the dealership to give me copies of the work orders, which were nothing short of blatant lies.I have filed suit and rather than step up and explain to a judge and jury how theyre not at fault for the second ruined engine (and Im far from the only person whos had this failure), theyre just delaying things by challenging venue, then getting a continuance on their venue challenge. The 08 STi (and reportedly other years, but the failure numbers are staggeringly high for the 08) is very simply a product Subaru is selling knowing full well it doesnt meet merchantability requirements and theyre just getting by as cheaply as they can until the warranties expire on them. I was a loyal customer, buying a new one every year until the 08 destroyed itself after only 2 months of ownership then again before itd reached 2 years. To say Subaru and especially Subaru of America is unscrupulous is a whopper of an understatement. And, sadly, its also not an understatement to say that the 08 completely changed my life, for the worse. It brought an abrupt end to a hobby (driving school instructor) that was the catharsis that enabled me to be the successful president of a rapidly-growing dotcom. When you are so egregiously victimized and disrespected by a company, the effects are far-reaching. Please, do not buy any 08-11 STi as their failure rate as a percentage of units sold is astronomical. But aside from a few of us squeaky wheels (and I may get crushed further in seeking justice, but I have to try), theyll be able to simply sweep this horrific ripping off of their customers under the rug because of it being such a comparatively low-production car, it likely wont have the absolute failure *quantities* to get the attention of any agency who can force them to do right by their customers.

I called Subaru Care team last week after my Son who is in the military 2011 Subaru with 112,000 miles CVT Transmission failed. The car is in my name due to it being purchased when he was seventeen 2 years ago. Also because he has been gone the last year and not driving it due to training in California. The cost for a Transmission to be repaired is close to 8,000. dollars. The part itself costs 6,640 dollars. I called Subaru because my son is only home for 2 months for additional training close to home before he deploys, I asked Subaru being so close to the extended warranty could they assist me in any way with replacing the transmission. Outside of this issue the car is in excellent shape. Subaru America said they could not help me and could only offer me a $1,500 towards a brand new vehicle even though Subaru would not even take the Outback as a trade in and told me to take it to pick in pull. With my son deploying he wont be home for a few years so a brand new vehicle is not necessary which I told them. $1500 towards the repair and a Subaru staying on the road instead of being totaled due to Subarus known CVT issue I think would be more beneficial to me and their brand. Incredibly disappointed with Subaru America Care Team for One charging such an astronomical dollar amount to fix a Subaru transmission, Two not caring about rare circumstances like a military individual deploying in two months and not needing a new car but assistance with the repair of their current car so they can drive it until they leave! The Subaru America Care Team obviously follow the corporate log book and do not look at each induvial situation. Their Branding definitely needs to be updated. They obviously dont love to Care the Military!

CVT transmission failure. 9,597.70 plus tax for repair. Driving appx. 40 mph. Car shuddered, dash lights come on and car stalls. Took to dealer. Needs new transmission and torque converter. Car just past the extended warranty that Subaru offered. Subaru has known about this problem for some time... it is definitely a safety issue and the car should be recalled. Contacted Subaru headquarters with no success getting them to help with repair cost. Repairs should not cost as much as blue book value of car. I bought a Subaru because of years of hearing about their stellar reputation.

Dealership found and identified several codes indicating the sporadic occurrences. Bob Baker Subaru Carlsbad CA refused to fix the problem, and stated we would have to bring the car in while it was experiencing the problem which would be almost impossible. The reason given was itemizing and comparing the risk to a potential flat tire and how much money the repair would cost them. So much for extended warranties.

We bought our Subaru Outback brand new, with about 10 miles on it, we got it because we wanted a reliable car and we loved the fact that it was a dog car. Within a few months I started noticing a vibration when accelerating, I brought it to the dealership no less than 20 times and it could not be duplicated by the technicians. Finally around 38,000 miles we bought 4-new tires, YES, FOUR! This did not help. 40,000 they replaced a rear wheel bearing (felt like vibration was in the front?), I thought this might fix it, but it still shakes.NEXT issue, which is probably far worse! The battery. The first time we had a dead battery we had just shopped at Costco, the entire back of the car was filled with groceries, the car wouldnt start. We called the Subaru tow service, they started it but it promptly died. We had to have someone come and get our groceries, then have our car towed to the dealership. Yes, we got a loaner car for the weekend, but on Monday they said there was nothing wrong. Repeat this 2, 3, 4, 5 TIMES! I would be stuck in the garage, the car wouldnt start, my husband at work, wouldnt start. Would take off after a sluggish start, stop at a stop sign, then boom, it dies right there. Dealership response- Hummm, looks fine, must be because you are not driving it enough, or you are leaving the lights on, or the hatch open. We just had our 4th NEW battery put in, the last brand new battery was exactly 3-months ago. This car is a lemon. I started researching online, WOW, we are not the only ones out there with this problem, Subaru has a real problem, the battery has got to be an electrical issue. The vibration is a mystery. I used to love my Subaru, now I really dislike it.

I want to highlight 2 specific points about Subaru Finance. Reference to my purchase of 2021 Crosstrek on Nov 2020. The Finance rep provided me false information that they checked with Chase and the best rate they could offer we was 4.49 and if I purchased extended warranty they can offer me 4.29. My Credit Score > 800 and I have multiple financial relationship with Chase. I was told chase has all access to my information and based on the current market situation this is the best rate they can offer. Being a Saturday evening I couldnt verify. On Monday I went to the branch and asked for details. I was surprised to learn that they didnt get any inquiries. So I asked for what my rate would be for new car financing. I was offered 2.39.(I have email proof of this). To add to that - Even the refinance rate which I checked with BoFa was 3.49 and Credit Union offer me 2.99 (I have proof of this as well). Over a 72 month term that would have translated to an additional $1500 in interest. To gain business, I have to believe the finance manager blatantly lied that they had checked with all the banks including Chase and based on my credit score this is the best they can offer. I did reach out to finance department and customer relations. But once the sale is done, they seem not bothered to even respond.2. I was charged document and fees and told the title and registration will be taken care and I will get the refund for my 2019 subaru crosstrek from DMV once the transfer the title from me. I have paid $725 for 5 years registration just in April 2020 so had the prorated refund of 4.5 years to be refunded. 2 months fast forward, I checked even as of today on AZ DMV portal. They have not even notified the car as sale per my DMV website and Title was still under my and the credit unions name (have taken the printscreen of the same too). And I have not got the refund either as of today.I was also not provided the price which I had agreed to for which after speaking the dealership person said they will speak with the GM and get back to me. Again the Finance guy provided misinformation on cost of ownership stating that it includes the interest I would be paying which doesnt seem to be true. I followed up few times since but they never got back on this. I had sent a detailed note on this as well. For any concerns/arbitration - Dealership had asked me not to reach outside till I have discussed my concerns with dealership. I have been patient enough thus far, but as I have not heard back on any resolution/remediation from the dealership I am writing this review. Based on all the above points I have to believe Subaru Finance has been provided false information and unethical practices to get my business.

Bought an early model Crosstrek. Liked the car at first, but it went thru a quart of oil every 1800 miles or so. Subaru says this is normal for a boxer engine? Felt like a 16-yr old carrying oil around with me. Ive had other Subarus & VW bugs with boxer engines that did not do this. It also ate tires, despite alignments and you have to buy 4 tires at a time with AWD. Usually the right rear wore excessively. So 2 years later, I go to trade it in on a Forrester (hopefully with better luck) and the dealer wouldnt even look at Subarus Guaranteed Trade-In. What a joke that is. Bought a Toyota.

We purchased a new Subaru Outback in January, 2015. Since we have two other vehicles with excellent GPS systems, we were anxious to order the GPS package. From day one, the GPS system was difficult to use and had serious problems using voice recognition. We have taken it into the dealership numerous times and the problem was not rectified. Today, the auto was returned to us after being in the dealership for a week. The service manager admitted that the system is flawed. He actually took the car home a couple of times and experienced the problems. The service manager contacted the factory representatives and they admitted the problems with the system could not be repaired. We are stuck with a new car with a sub-standard GPS system.

I purchased a 2009 Forester XT in April of 2008. Three days after purchase, Subaru announced a stop sale order on turbo Foresters made after Jan 1, 2008 (mine was mfg Jan 26th 2008). They issued the stop sale order because of manufacturing defects in the engine that led to knocking and then catastrophic engine failure. My car had knocking at 1030 miles and now at 92K the engine has had the catastrophic engine failure. Subaru refuses to answer the question if my car was affected by the stop sell order and takes no responsibility for repairing my car.

Spent a great deal of time looking for a car. Have had Hondas and one Toyota in the past- usually bought when two years old and kept till 200,000 miles- all still running when sold and great cars. This is a new car, too many electrical gadgets and little education on how to use them. Now major replacement is needed that was not caught before the car was on the market- poor quality control. Now I know why they tried to sell me repair add on insurance and sign something about lemons- I’ll have to review that. A new screen or computer: music, phone, etc is needed, supposedly affecting the battery. The “eye” (car correction) doesn’t work if there’s a little frost or snow on the upper shield covering the camera (the dealer says it’s fine- why have it if you can’t rely on it in storms?), occasionally doesn’t turn over first time and struggles the first time especially if the temperature is below 30 degrees (I live where it gets much colder), it’s kept in a garage and outside temp is 20-30 degrees and struggles starting. The restarting when stopped at lights feels like the starter will be run down in no time and sometimes it sounds like the transmission will fall out and there’s a grinding sound. The Subaru app says all is fine on its check up- not reliable or accurate. After several hours diagnosing at the dealer, they ordered a part (the screen) of which they failed to call me to schedule a time when it came in... After waiting over two weeks, I emailed. No words of confidence or apology about this. The purchasing was simple, but after the sale, this is a different experience with them. I’ll take my simple, reliable Honda. (I dislike Hondas dealerships usually- high pressure, but the used car dealer’s owner passed away and closed- where I purchased my cars in the past, so I thought a new car would be the best choice and I liked Subaru’s low selling pressure.) How do I get rid of a new car (now almost two months old) with a history? I thought it was a great car when I bought it- first new car in 30 years, but who knows what will happen next, I don’t feel safe driving distances in it and I travel a great deal, so this is a serious concern.

My wife and I bought a brand new Subaru Forrester, our second one. Had no complaints with the first one 250,000 miles. The new one is a complete **. Around 30k miles started burning oil at the rate of about a quart every 2k miles, we jumped through all their hoops and did their ridiculous oil consumption test. We were treated like morons, told this is acceptable with a boxer engine which is ridiculous! My boss owns a Porsche which also has a boxer engine and doesnt burn a drop. Anyways they finally admitted there was a defect and replaced the top end (short block). Now with less than 20k since the replacement having the same issues, wife went back to dealer today! Its a shame because we really loved the first one but at this point no matter what they do, we will NEVER, EVER, own another Subaru!!!

I bought my Outback new and have taken meticulous care of the car, religiously changed the oil and all of the customary tune ups. I do quite a bit of driving, having put 149k in less than 6 years but have tended to every update or replacement so to avoid any unforeseen major issues. Last year, my oil light came in which confused me since I had 2k miles to go before the next oil change. Went to check the oil and it was boned drive. Since then, I have carried extra oil - just in case this happened again. Did not think much of this fluke. Fast forward to a couple of months ago, I felt a noticeable decrease in performance. Took it to my mechanic and always got its fine.A month ago, noticed that my acceleration was compromised so my mechanic changed the engine filter and then the battery, which improved the acceleration slightly, but thought it was in my head. The car started to make a rattling sound after trying to accelerate over 60-80MPH; it felt that the engine was choking. I would not even pass other cars for fear of the car stalling; no lights came on. Then the next day, the dashboard went haywire with the lights (cruise control, solid engine light, traction control, and another light that I cant remember right now). Took it to another Subaru dealership in North Attleboro, MA and they hooked it up to the machine and told me that I needed OSV Valves for both side, code P0028. The cost of the valves were 235.74 and labor was 600.00, totaling $835.74, which I paid since I thought it was going to resolve this issue once and for all.I asked if the tech took the car for a test drive and they could not confirm this. I picked up the Subaru and drove off, the car had a slight improvement but not for the 835.75 repair. Called Subaru the next day, and drove the car back to the dealership. Had the general manager drive my car, and he felt that the car had no power to accelerate and that the transmission felt like it was slipping. This was Saturday morning. On Tuesday, the Subaru manager said that they were still working on it; they could not find the source of the problem and was on the phone with another Subaru department trying to figure this out. A day later, we got a text message stating it was my transmission leaking down internally. The cost to replace was $6040 and that did not include other parts and fluid. I wrote to Subaru since I feel that the Class Action Lawsuit of the excessive oil consumption may be related to the transmission. In addition, Subaru had replaced OSV valves and did not test drive the car to see if they remedy the issue. Lastly, why did the diagnostic machine pick this up? I purposely asked the tech, if there was another nested issue underneath the OSV valves; she answered no. The POO28 code was correct diagnosis. I will contest the charge for the valves on my Visa and have written to Subaru Corp about this issue. Between replacing timing belt, fuel pump, tires... this transmission would have set me back well over 10k. If I cant get Subaru to fix this for under 2k, I will trade it in. This car was great in the snow, but the seats were uncomfortable, poor visibility from the side of the car (blindspots were bad). Headlights are constantly burning out and Subaru response is to go to the dealership to get them replaced. Next car will be a Honda or Toyota.

In 4.5 years, I have to replaced 5 low-beam headlights in my 2010 Subaru Legacy. The dealership gave several different excuses for the high burnout rate. Their solution was to tell me not to use the automatic headlight feature, which did not help. I called Subaru headquarters, and the representative decided that replacing a headlight an average of every 22,000 miles was an acceptable burnout rate. At $70 per replacement, I cannot afford to keep this car. I wish I had known about this problem and Subarus lack of caring before I set foot in the dealership.

My customer information reflects items required to acquire notifications of service: both acquisition and notifications of appointments, and potential notifications of recalls. I attempted to notify Subaru of changes in (1) email address and (2) snail-mail address. In my opinion, such an attempt on my part should be available on *one* website, and should, when made, cascade *throughout* the sophisticated Subaru bureaucracy. As it turns out, Subaru has three levels of databases in which these items are stored: national, regional, and local dealership. For each of the two items, I attempted on several occasions on national and local websites, via multiple national and local phone calls, multiple snail-mail requests, and multiple face-to-face visits to acquire the changes. In spite of my attempts, materials from Subaru continued to arrive at the *old* email and snail-mail addresses! All this took place over a period of 9 months. The issue has *still* not been fully resolved. For my own security, I feel I must make face-to-face appointments for maintenance. (The vehicle is still under warranty and a regimen of maintenance is required to maintain terms of the warranty.) I must describe Subarus information processing as primitive at best.

I leased a 2012 Subaru, signed a contract, and took the vehicle home. The dealership messed up the contract, lied about it to get me to sign another contract under the guise that it was a better deal for me. The truth of the matter is that they either made a mistake, or they are running a scam to get you to sign one contract, take the vehicle, then offer you another contract within a few weeks, or they are just incompetent and unprofessional. When I decided that I did not want the new contract, they became angry and rude. The general manager assured me that he would take care of it, but he did not and I had their company calling me about a vehicle that I had returned (2009 Subaru) to the Subaru dealer a month earlier. The vehicle was on their lot and in their possession. I have returned the new 2012 vehicle because of how I was treated and because the general manager, during his shouting match with me indicated that if that was the way I felt, he did not want to do business with me anyway. I am glad you have enough Subaru business that you can afford to throw away customers who purchased 3 Subarus within four years. I will make it one of my goals in life to make sure that people know you do not want business from me or people like me. Of interest, is that a similar situation happened with this same dealership three years ago. At that time, a few weeks after the 2009 car was purchased, the finance manager called and indicated that he had made a mistake on the contract and that the payment should be higher. Once again, I refused and told him that I had a contract, and he could not go back and change the terms of that contract. What is going on at Subaru AutoBarn of Countryside, Illinois? Are they incompetent, or crooked or both? They definitely could use some training in customer service as you have just lost two customers. Since I have returned the 2012 Subaru last week, I am in the market for an SUV. Guess what, it wont be a Subaru. Someone should investigate further the practices of Subaru Autobarn of Countryside, Illinois. I know I will be continuing my investigation and legal options. I dont drive in the city, normally. My last Subaru had no engine noise, even at 200,000 miles, and got great fuel mileage, 4-5 above EPA rating. I returned to dealer shop 3 times. There is nothing wrong with it, according to them. Foresters do not get better than 25mpg, and all are noisy. I contacted the Subaru customer service online. We bought two Subaru Outbacks in January of 2012, and they both had windshields that cracked in the same place under the same conditions about four months apart. It was a cold day and while sitting there warming up the car, there was a pop and a crack from left to right about five inches up a long crack appeared. The first time the dealer claimed that there was a rock hit when he ran a ballpoint pen across the crack and found a pit, which I knew wasnt there before he dug his pen across the glass. This second time, I made sure that there was no pit along the glass before I brought it to the dealer, but he insisted hed be able to check it with a pen. I watched as he dug the ballpoint across the crack until he found a microscopic spot where I saw him pop out a minuscule piece of glass and claimed it was a rock hit and therefore not covered under warranty again. Anytime glass cracks, you cannot conclusively say that the crack will stay intact without finding a microscopic pit or weakness where the glass expels itself. This is a scam. We have seen other Outbacks on the road with the same crack. We even pulled one over and asked the owner, and she said the same thing happened to her windshield. This needs to be investigated.

Bought a new Subaru Outback in January - no experience with CVT transmissio
Bought a new Subaru Outback in January - no experience with CVT transmissions and salesman casually mentioned that one of the features was a roll back preventer switch. The reality is if you back up it takes a full 2 seconds after switching to drive to have any power. If you back into traffic and need to get away quickly - youre dead in the water. If youre parallel parking on a hill and back in, youre very likely to hit the car behind you - it just rolls back when you switch to drive.Lots of other complaints including much less than advertised gas mileage - about 10L/100km based on half city and half highway driving. Voice command system is a joke - with long delays and unasked for tutorials - Entertainment system not compatible with my 2 year old smart phone. And what really bugs me is the spring rewind on the seat belt is so weak that I am forever closing the door on the end of the seat belt - just one of many silly oversights. The swept back roof line and curved in rear door mean that there is far less storage space than you might think from looking at the storage floor area.

I purchased a brand new 2006 Subaru Forester. I did 4-5 months of research and looked at the majority of small SUVs and finally decided on the Forester based on what I had read - reliability, utility, AWD technology, and the Subaru brand name. I have nothing but positive things to say about the Subaru dealership but I cant say that about Subaru Canada - they really dont care about their customers. They have your money. Why should they care? The Forester for the 1st six years of its life was a fairly reliable car. I took the car in for service religiously and performed all the required maintenance/service. The only main item that went which I thought was odd and a bit pricey was the Oxygen sensor which cost me $700 and then went again a year later but I was lucky as the sensor was still under warranty. At about its six year of life - just before Christmas - I was just getting on to the highway and the oil light went on; I immediately got on my phone to my mechanic and he said to bring the car in tomorrow. About 10 minutes later the oil light went on again and I was on the phone to my mechanic who said bring the car in right away, which I did. Turns out it was the head gasket so it cost $3000 to fix (they did the timing belt / water pump at the same time). I called Subaru Canada and they said because the car is out of warranty, there is nothing they could do. So, I got the head gasket fixed and should have dumped the car right then and there. About two years later, I was driving on the highway and stopped at my destination and noticed the temperature gauge going to the H position so I stopped the car, let it cool down and walked down the street to a local service station. They said, Bring the car in, and they were going to do a rad flush but when they started to do it they noticed coolant leaking so they just topped up the coolant. I got back on the highway and the car started to heat up again; the net of it was a leak around the water pump which my mechanic fixed. About 2 months later, the car started heating up again and back to the mechanic. So the probable cause...wait, wait...likely the head gasket; cheapest fix is the thermostat which they swapped out. But, my mechanic is saying the only thing that would fix it would be a rebuilt engine. Again, I contacted Subaru Canada and same story line - out of warranty - too bad, so sad. So I cut my losses and traded the car in on something more reliable - a Honda. I will never ever buy a Subaru again - what a waste of $36,000.

Our 2014 Subaru Outback (purchased new) has an intermittent stall problem that lasts for several seconds at low speeds when trying to accelerate into traffic. It has caused 2 near collisions and my wife will no longer ride in the car because of it. This issue has been discussed with the dealer several times and were told by the Service Manager that it is a common complaint and an engineering defect in the CVT transmission and that his 2013 Legacy has the same problem. The factory Zone rep. drove the car briefly and said it drove normal and that they were not going to work on it but would give us an allowance on a 2015 model. This car drives normal 99.9% of the time because this only happens in slow in town driving of which we do very little but when it fails it could be catastrophic. We are in our seventies and purchased this car new because it has all the hi-tech safety devices on it such as Eyesight collision avoidance but this is of no use if we are t-boned in heavy traffic. Since when is an engineering defect in a drive train normal?! We left the car with instructions that they could drive it home or wherever until such time that the problem occurred (and gave them a list of the perimeters that seemed to cause the problem to manifest itself) then they should fix it under the new car warranty but they told us that it was just going to sit there until we pick it up as they are not going to do anything with it. We also asked if they would buy it back if they are refusing to repair it and they of course declined that also. This indicates to us that they dont want it either. We will probably be forced to dump it at a big loss. ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS PROBLEM?

Has late night purchase, gave finance manager $15000 cashiers check us and additional $2000 cash to get my monthly payment down below $400/month. After reviewing my paperwork couple days after, realize they added $1000 to my agreed purchase price. Before confronting Jay, salesperson, about this problem I went through my car details including the price he gave me. Two separate times he agreed with the price he had given me by phone on more than 3 occasions before I committed to purchase. This price was the original price Jay told me at the beginning. After he reconfirmed his and my price two additional times, I told him that I had given extra cash during financing and told him exactly $1000 added to my initial price. He hesitated, then said it was the changed figure. It was obvious he was covering for finance and Moe sales manager. So I gave Jay and Moe a week to come up with solution... Long story short they didnt. So contacted GM, Jobe **. He said he would find out info and get back to me... He didnt. Finally got him on phone week later and he told me he had talked to owners and he has good and favorable news for me, put me on hold so he could get my paperwork. After holding for short while, unidentified person came on phone asking if the could help me..(?) I told them I was holding for Jobe. That he had asked me to hold awaiting answer for my situation. Person, Moe, sales manager, said Jobe was in a meeting. That he wanted to know how he could help me(?) Not wanting to rehash again with someone who had previously refused to do anything for over 10 days after knowing of problem. Since then... I contacted Subaru of America for help communicating with Glendale Subaru, Jobe, GM because he refused on 3 separate occasions to take my phone call. Plus I called Lane ** general sales manager. He didnt return my call. I asked Moe, by email twice to relay the owners and GMs solution, but he and GM refused to return my call. Now he told corporate Customer service agent trying help me get info that the GM and Owners had decided. Its become obvious the GM put this $1000 cash fraud back on Moe... Because Moe, Glendale sales manager, refuses to relay this message. Seems likely he is directly involved in this late night fraudulent buying transaction. I would advise ANYONE looking to purchase a Subaru... I 1000% would never do business with Glendale Subaru!! They protect and cover for each other with dishonest transaction. From GM by washing his hands of the situation by not getting involved and leaving it up to his dishonest sales and finance department to get out of this situation alone. In my opinion, Jobe lacks a backbone because he refuses to talk to dissatisfied customers. Yet he blows smoke up peoples rear, by saying he and his dealership are honest and he wants to make thing right and wants to make sure THEIR customers are happy. The GM and THEIR sales staff at Glendale in my opinion are ripping off THEIR owners $$... Very very unhappy Glendale Subaru and Corporate Customers service for allowing this GM to say he is happy with his dealerships customer outreach (ha ha) towards me. Dismissing all my attempts to get him on phone and to complete telling me his owners good and favorable decision. Absolute appalling customer care and outreach. What a rotten egg dealership. Makes me wonder how much $$$ they have defrauded other customers. Ive consulted other car dealers, GMs and previous Subaru Dealership owners. They know exactly what happened. They told me its obvious the GM, Jobe, knows too. He doesnt want to write a check so he just told culprits, his finance and sales to handle the situation they created. BOTTOM LINE. This lack of customer care and outreach to take care of this issue. Receives 1 on scale of 10 for honesty and true care for all customers. I know now I was foolish to give Glendale Subaru any cash. Especially at last transaction of work night. That further explain why the finance manager stuck the cash $ in his pocket... Thought that was highly unusual.

Do you want an engine with that car? That is my feeling towards being charged about $1200 to replace my bumper. It was a minor fender-bender and I went to a reputable collision repair shop. The $700 cost they originally estimated seemed reasonable, but when the bumper came in the cost jumped another $463, because it had to be painted!!! Seems like a rip-off to me.

Hi, we have a relatively old Subaru, about 8 years but very low mileage and the a/c failed with a projected cost of $2,500. Seeing as the vehicle has been used very little, the repair amounts to $3 for every hour it has been driven. I asked if this was normal from Subaru and they simply explained that it was out of warranty. So if you want a reliable car that is going to last for years, and you have low mileage, maybe best to look elsewhere, as they appear unconcerned that there are failures despite low usage. Warranty should be time or mileage-based. My first and last Subaru, oh well.

Just wanted to give feedback on my new purchase: Gateway Subaru Delaware. Pros: overall satisfied with my purchase, this was our 3rd Outback (2008, 2011 now 2015). Changes promoted purchasing upgraded Outback. 2015 purchased with every option available. Eyesight option just great! Cons: GPS not as accurate as my Garmin portable. Had I known the lack of function & accuracy I would left it out from my purchase.

I bought a brand new 2009 Subaru Forester with a 5-speed manual transmission. From day 1, I had problems getting into reverse. It got so bad, that at times, I could not even get into reverse. Complained many times to the dealer and their response was it was normal, nothing was wrong with the car or that it had to be broken in or it was me. I finally brought it into the dealer and they told me, that they would have to take apart the transmission and Subaru will inspect it. If they deem it to be customer abuse then I would have to pay $4000.00 to fix it. Of course I opted not to do it. But to make matters worse, the engine had no pick up. I had to floor it and it still would not go. What a lemon! I would never buy a Subaru again.

My remote on my Subaru Outback 3.6R goes off in my pocket while I walk, lay around, bend over or just hang out while at my house. The back gate opens automatically most of the time without my awareness. Completely breaks my confidence in the security of my car. Sometimes opens up 2-3 times on a bad day. Cant say how disheartening it is to come out from a friends place in a bad neighborhood and see my car hatch opened and my car unguarded. This potentially has left my car unguarded as long as Ive been at a place. Subaru should re-design the key fob and issue a new one under a recall! The back gate on a person’s car cant just open every other day when youre not looking or thinking of your car! My cargo is always important and should never be a 50/50 worry that my hatch opened as I walk away. The car is great in every other way than this. But with that said I brought it to Subaru attention and they just told me that there is nothing they can do to deactivate that part of the car fob.

My wife told me our 2010 Outback was making strange noise coming from the engine and took it on a road trip to visit her mom and called to tell me that it got terrible gas mpg and that there were lights on the dash flashing--brake, cruise, and traction control lights. The code that was brought up was P0026 which is for a valve stuck. I took it to Puyallup Subaru, and they told me its because of low oil and that brand-new Subarus use a quart of oil every thousand miles. I check the oil before my wife left on her trip, and the oil level was fine. They cleared the computer, change the oil, and sent me down the road. I contacted a different dealer, and they are no way, very unhappy!

2013 WRX with less than 40000 miles on it is about to receive its 2nd engine replacement. Always kept stock and always maintained to spec. I use to shrug off WRX stories about blown engines, assuming that the drivers were somehow neglecting or abusing the cars. Ive been proven wrong. Oil bypass and burning, spun ring lands, leaks coming from everywhere... it is all real. Heed this warning... Subaru under engineers their boxer drivetrains and you have a 2/3 chance of owning a nightmare car. 5 speed manual transmission on a 2007 Forester 2.5X failed at 80,000 miles and had to be replaced (~$2600). Car servicing followed Subaru recommendations. I have driven manual transmissions my entire life and never had a problem with a transmission in any other car. Checking the web I see a fair amount of discussion that Subaru does not have the best built transmissions. While I like the car in almost all other respects, I will not invest in another given the apparent design weaknesses of Subaru transmissions.

This is the best car Ive ever owned. Although its an SUV, it rides very well - not hard like my Jeep Renegade did. Passengers in the back seat tell me it is very comfortable. I have the Limited model, so it has some great features like Subarus Eyesight. That feature is a game-changer for driving. I will never own another vehicle without that. I feel much safer since it keeps me from drifting into another lane, can brake quickly in an urgent situation and, best of all, driving on the highway with cruise control, the system adjusts your speed so that you never creep up too close to another vehicle. Its a must have for long distance driving. I love the fact its all wheel drive. I feel much safer driving in rain and snow. Traction is awesome.Im super happy with my gas mileage, too. Average driving around town is usually upper 20s. On the highway, its always in the mid to upper 30s. I tested it one time on an open flat interstate -- no hills, steady speed of 63 mph with the AC on. The computer readout showed 44 mpg. Ive compared the computer read-out to the old-fashioned way to determining mpgs and its usually off by about 3. That means I got over 40 mpg with the Crosstrek! The Crosstrek has a CVT transmission (continuously variable, not gears) and, although a good number of people in Crosstrek social media groups complain about it, Ive never had an issue. Its smooth and even feels like a regular automatic. The other typical complaint is that the engine doesnt have enough power. Is it the fastest car Ive ever driven? No. Does it have incredible pickup? No. But it gets the job done. Ive never had an issue, for example, pulling out onto a highway. Overall, 5 stars for this vehicle.

I own a 2013 Impreza with 35k miles on it. I have been into my local dealership twice regarding my oil light coming on too soon. I went through an oil consumption test once and the first 1200 miles, it was fine, so the dealership said to let it go and if the light comes on again to bring it in. It came on 3200 miles into the oil change interval (dealer recommends 5500 mi, Subaru recommends 7500 mi). It was 3/4 of a quart low. I asked what can I do about this knowing very well that this is an issue with this car. I was told to contact Subaru, which I did.A week goes by and I dont hear anything other than I will call you on a certain date, which they did not. I called them and was told that they will not do anything until it burns 1/3rd of a quart of oil every 1200 miles. And even then, I would have to pay for an engine tear down to diagnose the problem regardless if it is still under warranty or not. I realize that the fix is expensive, but they built a faulty product and need to stand behind it and I shouldnt have to pay anything out of pocket when they know very well what the issue is. Never again will I buy a Subaru.

I love my 2013 Subaru Impreza and had no issues up to now. I know Im part of a class action suit, and I reviewed it and saw it was not only for oil issues but also for CVT transmission problems. My car is 62,000 and Ive done all of the services. After my 60,000 check up, where everything checked out fine, I heard an odd grumbling noise and was told I needed a new transmission, which luckily is still under warranty. However, there are simply no parts available in all the USA and it could take weeks or months due to back order. I was told it was safe to drive, but I live alone and drive country roads and was told it could stop at some point. To me thats not safe. I find it unacceptable that a car so popular should have such a serious issue. Ive been in touch with the customer service hotline and someone keeps promising me hell try to expedite getting the part, but theres been no action. I cant even get a guesstimate. Ive been offered $500 for a rental car, but thats only 10 days and that will not even begin to cover that it could take weeks. So, its worthless right now until I can even get an estimated arrival date. Im beginning to think I need to trade in the car, but after this, not sure I want another Subaru. Buying a new car is hard work and Im not in the mood for all of that. I dont like driving around with a faulty major part of the car. Im disgusted and angry. Im going to write a letter to the Chief Operating Officer at their headquarters to see if I can get some action.

Last week, my wife was pulling into a parking spot at 5 MPH when our 2005 Subaru Forester suddenly sped up and hit a fence in front of the parking spot. Then it began reversing rapidly and backed up for about 12-18 feet and hit a wall. Then, it suddenly died. The car had some damage to it, and our insurance company is totaling the car. She is an extremely careful driver, and this was either a transmission or engine failure. There are others on this forum and elsewhere who have had a similar issue with their Forester. Hopefully, Subaru will do something about this.

I have a 2007 Subaru Impreza 2.5i that I bought new in Massachusetts. The first few years seemed to go okay except for the $350 dollar services and the fact that the car dents when you look at it funny (literally hundreds of door dings 7 years later). I maintained impeccable service history and records but it started feeling funny in 2009 - gas mileage was tanking, engine felt off, acceleration was sluggish. I drive... a lot ... on road ... on dirt roads ... I use the car as the commercials show but do not abuse it. 2010 the brakes fail and I run off the road. 2010 (69,000 miles - so off warranty now), after complaining about the engine running funny for over a year to Subaru service centers, a local mechanic discovers the head gaskets are leaking. Subaru agrees to pay for half of the repair. Great! I am happy with the company and simply mad at the service centers for not finding it. Since then, it seems like everything that has a seal or bearings is beginning to fail - two transmission leaks, power steering pump, ac belt tensioner, coil pack (cylinders 3 and 4 started misfiring causing the car to smoke, shudder, and die), ignition wires (twice - once routine maintenance), front axle seals, differential... The thing leaks oil if you dont use a Subaru brand oil filter. It eats tires in half their designated lifetime, even with regular rotation and alignment. Oh, for a car that is advertised for the adventurer, perhaps they could work to make the alignment a little harder to throw off - any bump in the rode and it goes out. The exhaust pipe broke its weld (presumably from the aforementioned offroading, which consists of driving on flat, well maintained farm roads). The 3-year bill for my car, 75000-113000 miles, for routine and additional maintenance, has been almost 7000 dollars. I am not naive when it comes to car expenses. I did not expect this car to be worry free, maintenance free, or without a half life crisis at 100,000 miles but every time something fails on the car, I call up Subaru dealers around the northeast and I ask: Is this normal? Every time they say they rarely see it break. I have contacted Subaru of America and told them of these problems. They have offered me $500 towards a new car, like I will ever buy another one.

My 2011 Subaru Outback stalled out on the 101 South driving back from San Francisco. At any hard brake the car would shudder and/or quit. Extensive research has informed me that this is a very common problem with Subarus, resulting from a failed torque converter. Owners of Subarus have posted about this problem for many years. The Subaru dealership from where I bought my Outback, and which is making the repair, just confirmed it is the torque converter that has failed and will be charging me $2016.59 for the repair. I am coming out of pocket over $2,000 to replace a part Subaru has known for years FAILS. Not only have they received many complaints about this part, it is a DANGEROUS problem for the car to have. It should have resulted in a recall by now, there are so many complaints. The car can stall at a red light, on the highway, or anywhere else where a hard, fast brake is required by the driver.

I am having issues (multiple) with 2011 STI. When I’m driving in the rain and don’t touch my brakes for 5-15 minutes and go to apply them, they act like they don’t work. The engine knocks when it sits for 2 days. It makes the most horrific noise when it’s started and cold (I have video documentation of the engine noise). I spoke with a Subaru Rep named Bob **. He was very kind in setting up my appointment (took 3 days), but everything afterwards has been below average. I took my vehicle into the dealer he scheduled and after the technicians looking at my car, they said there was no problem. Allegedly, the brakes were fine as far as they looked (but they never got the brakes wet). The technician Kurt said he’s never heard that noise before from the engine. I spoke with Bob ** and he said that the dealer’s service manager had talked to me and told me that everything was okay. Well, either Bob ** is a liar or Jeff the service manager from Suburban Subaru is a liar because I never spoke with Jeff ever, other than to ask what him and Bob spoke about and he said that he was just told to fax the info over. Bob said that Jeff had told him they found nothing wrong with my car and since they have found nothing wrong with it, they won’t send out anyone to look at it. I have a safety concern that others are having and they won’t even look at it? Seriously?! I have researched the web and found tons of others complaining about the brakes not working when it’s wet. So this is a problem that Subaru is aware of but won’t acknowledge. I don’t feel safe driving my car when it’s wet because in an emergency situation, I won’t be able to stop and I could kill myself and someone else. All I want is a Subaru rep to come out and take a look but they won’t. I was repeatedly lied to by Bob **. I will never buy another Subaru again.Another thing to add, I took the technician for a drive to show him how my diff clunks when I’m shifting under hard acceleration. So I took it up to 6000 rpm and shifted the car. The gears and the clunk were heard. The technician then said You’re putting this under a lot of stress. How am I putting the car under stress? People rev there STIs up to 5000 rpm and dump it, bounce off the rev limiter, down shift from 6th to 3rd. All I was doing was shifting going in a straight line down the road. The car can’t handle 6k rpm shifts? Why does the motor rev to 6k rpm then? Why it isn’t electronically governed? Subaru is the worst auto company in the world. Never buy a Subaru because from day one, they will screw you. I bought the most expensive car they have and they treat me like crap!

Very excited to get my new Subaru Outback 3.6 at the Subaru North Houston. When I arrived the salesperson Brenda was very sweet and helpful. Little disappointed that I bought the car that I was not intended to buy. When negotiating with Brenda, she went two times or three to talk to the manager. Although I was not sure whether to buy the car or not depending on the price, the manager came toward me with a very negative energy and in front of the sales department, embarrassed me raising his voice disapproving my request. He accused me of things I was not doing, like looking on my phone searching for a better deal while I was doing some homework on my phone for my Family Nurse Practitioner. Other customer were looking at me how I was being yelled at, I was very embarrassed. This is one of the worse experience I have experience and as an ER Nurse, I have experienced many.He had no right to attack a customer, very simply, he could have just refuse the deal. He bullied me on how much money I have in my bank account and insisting if I can put $7200 down then I can put $8000 down. I was shocked, paralyzed, and was so embarrassed to move from my chair. When he left, Brenda apologized for his unprofessional bully behavior. So sad that I had to switch from a Honda to Subaru and had the worst experience in my life buying a car. I know what I did was the wrong decision to buy a car from them, but I literally felt so bullied that I was very embarrassed to even walk around and walk away.I believe in making mistake and correct them as soon as possible, but after being there 5 hours because my partner bought the same car I did, he never came and apologize. Not that I care about an apology but maybe could have ended the negative experience in slightly better closure. Now I have a car that I dont want because of the bully of Subaru Manager. Not sure if anyone can advise me if I can do anything at this point. This is my experience with my Subaru. I thought it was going to be a lovely and beautiful experience, turned out to be an absolute nightmare!

Sorry to say this is turning out to be the worst car buying experience that either of us has ever encountered in over four decades of driving. First off the sales person lied to us about the accessories options available for our vehicle, and the finance guy was condescending. So I went to the parts department and began ordering the accessories that I was told were not available. The L E D side view mirrors were installed by the supervisor of the service department. He admitted damaging the inner workings of the mirrors and ordered replacements. Another trip back to the dealership and the problem was even worse. He tried to convince me that it was normal to see through only half of the mirrors as they could not be adjusted properly to be able to see the lanes to either side of me. He eventually got frustrated with my insisting that they be fixed to the way they originally worked, and told me to go home to my wife. I called the corporate office and it has been over two weeks with no resolution in sight. A week ago I try to remote start before I left to work. The STARLINK system would not connect. When I went out to the car to start it. The dashboard and ignition lights were blinking and it would not start. I had it towed to the dealership, they gave us a small dirty loaner car and yesterday, a week later, they called to say it was fixed and ready to be picked up. We made the trip there to find that it was not true, the vehicle was not ready as the STARLINK was still not working. Were back in the loaner vehicle, its the next day and we have not received another call about the status of our car. This car is two months old and its their top of the line SUV. Do I have a lemon? More to come.

I purchased a used 2008 WRX Sti with 20,000 miles back in February of 2012. The person I bought it from was Dave **. Dave was at the time (until very recently) a member of the Subaru USA rally team and this car served as his daily driver. Never raced or rallied in the slightest. Just a fun car to drive around town. At 17,000 miles under his ownership he blew an engine. Apparently he was doing some donuts in the snow and redlined it a little too long causing the engine to pop. He had some mods done to the vehicle which would technically void the warranty. Keep in mind this car is made to be modded as its not the everyday thing you take to the grocery store. Anyways.... Subaru agreed to warranty his engine under the pretense that they put most of it back to stock. So the new engine is put it and the car is back to normal. I buy it 3k miles later with the impression that I am getting a car with 20,000 miles but an engine with very little miles. Great right? Well no... not so much.Flash forward exactly 20,000 miles to December of 2013. I had just changed the oil as I was about to leave from North Carolina and drive to Minnesota for the holidays to see family. Made it all the way there with no problems. Stay the first night and then the next morning (Christmas Eve) I leave from my aunts home to my grandmothers with my young brother and sister in the car with me. No racing, no donuts, no hard driving whatsoever. Simply a morning commute to my grandmas with the family in tow. I get a quarter mile from my destination and the car shuts off and is blowing smoke out the back. I literally coasted into my grandmas driveway, thankfully. This now begins my so far month long battle with Subaru and getting a fair deal out of this.I had it towed to the closest Subaru dealership (200 dollars) where it sat for a solid week and a half before it was addressed. The dealership guessed what was wrong with it and told Subaru it had been previously modded and flashed. Subaru, based on simply that alone, denied my warranty claim. Speaking of warranty.... The car has a 5 year/60k mile warranty on the powertrain. I was 3 months out of the 5 year warranty yet still 20k miles below. Back and forth with Subaru and eventually I get to someone higher up on the chain who says the car needs to be torn down in order for them to truly decide. Im skeptical to authorize the dealership to tear it down as I dont want to get stuck with the bill when Subaru potentially leaves me in the dust after. So the lady (Linda **) was very helpful in the sense she offered to split the cost of the tear down with me granted they deny me any further warranty claim after it was diagnosed. I reluctantly agreed to this based on the fact that I thought for sure they wouldnt just leave me hanging.Well upon tearing it down... the dealership indeed found out that it was a blown engine. Again. Who would have thought that the same faulty engine they replaced the last faulty engine with would have blown again? This car is absolutely notorious for blowing motors AND especially in cylinder 4. Where did mine blow? You guessed it... cylinder 4. Where did it blow the first time when Dave had it? Again... cylinder 4. Subaru comes back with a complete denial of any responsibility and refuse to help with any sort of help with the repairs. To their credit, they still were standing by their word of splitting the cost of the tear down. The labor was 1300 dollars. Leaving me with a 650 bill and them a 650 dollar bill. Now after the 200 dollar tow, the 300 dollar rental car charge, a last minute plane ticket to get me home while it stayed there... Im at my wits end. Next up will be to ship it to North Carolina (900 dollars) and begin the fix myself (another 3,000 or 4,000?). I am not a rich man and simply cannot afford to dump this much money into a car I still owe money on. I bought a Subaru worry free and never in a million years would expect to be going through this at 40,000 miles. Its just plain unacceptable.Anyway, Point of the matter is I am out of warranty technically but then again... Im still WELL within my miles limit. A quick blown motor Subaru Google search will show you that they have countless amounts of cases where their engines blow. It is not uncommon for their cars to blow 2 engines in under 50,000 miles. The fact that this is so common only leads me to believe that there has to be some sort of lawsuit I can look into to forcing them to make this right? I am absolutely blown (no pun intended) away that such a massive companys reputation is only worth 650 dollars to them. I have since accepted that Im going to get stuck with the cost of the repairs and I offered them an easy way to compromise. I asked simply that they pay the full tear down price and offer the OLI (owner loyalty incentive) of 1500 that they originally tried buying my best interests with. Not that I ever plan to use it, Subaru might as well be dead to me as a company... but I still want to them to own up to that.To recap, they offered 650 of the 1300 tear down and the OLI. Im simply asking for them to pony up, attempt to save face of their awful company and make things right in the simplest of ways. 650 dollars more? Come on, Subaru. Really? Does anyone have any similar stories they could share that have or havent ended up in their favor? A company as big as Subaru should be ashamed of this mistreatment. This engine issue has been publicly acknowledged by them through press releases and this is most definitely not an isolated issue. Thanks for reading and I look forward to any replies or comments. My email is ** if you would like to share anything privately that way.

I have 2 stone chips in my 2014 Subaru Outback, one went right to the metal and started rusting immediately! I took it to the dealer and showed them the two chips. I asked why would a 10 month old car rust that easily, could this be the beginning of a bigger rust problem with a Subaru (think OLD Subarus - very rusty)? They pretty much told me they would do nothing about it. This will be my last service call time dealing with the Service department at Chilson Subaru in Eau Claire, WI.

We have owned 2 Subarus, one 2002 where at approximately 67000 miles head gasket blew, we traded the car in for 2010 Subaru Forester, and now again the head gasket is leaking at 47000 miles. Im retired and on social security, was told 2400 dollars to repair leak. Complained to Subaru. Said my warranty was over which I knew. I cannot afford to do repair. Also drivers seat has collapsed will cost 700 dollars to repair. Again no money to fix. This car was suppose to last us a good 14 yrs, now Im stuck with a piece of junk and not very happy about it. We were told when we bought 2010 Subaru that the head gasket problems had been resolved by Subaru, and this would never happen. Well lucky me it did. we only drive less than 10 miles a day, no excuse for this to happen. Will never buy a Subaru again. My daughter has a Outback also and her head gasket blown too, she will not buy a Subaru again, cheap car. I have a 2013 Toyota with 46000 miles, no leaks whatsoever, will definitely buy another Toyota, I have owned 3 and never had major engine problems like the Subaru.

Dont Buy Subaru! I bought one, now I wish I hadnt. It wasnt until after the purchase that I realized that it was consuming oil. One day, a light came on the dash, which I learned was an Oil Level light, an Oil Level light! I checked the level and refilled the oil to the full mark, 2 1/2 quarts. I took it back to the dealer and what they had told me was that It was perfectly normal for a Subaru Outback to lose a quart every 1000 miles! This was not mentioned during the sales pitch or during the purchase; however if they had, I would not have bought the car! They recommended doing the Oil Consumption test, where you drive 1200 miles and return to the dealer four times. Yeah, a couple times it only took a half quart and it did take a quart. Well at the first attempt, my oil light came on while driving through the valley, so I had to add oil and that nullified the test and we had to start over again. Again they said that was normal and they wouldnt tell me why or how. I called Subaru of America and went back and forth with their customer service rep and she ended up hanging up on me. She did point to the owners manual, chapter/page where it did say to expect oil loss, as much as a quart every 1000 miles. Who reads a manual before a purchase? In my opinion, Subaru lied to me by means of omission. So any of you out there thinking of buying Subaru, dont do it. Ill be getting rid of this one soon and will never go Subaru again.

I bought a used 2016 Subaru Forester with only about 20k miles on it, still under warranty. I was okay at first, now I notice how harsh the ride is. I can feel every bump in the road! Is there something wrong with the shocks? Are the shocks adjustable? Is there someone with the same vehicle experiencing the same thing?

I just purchased 2017 Subaru Crosstrek. Very disappointed with vehicle and dealership which sold me the vehicle. I purchased the remote start for this vehicle to which is useless since the vehicle shuts off once the door is opened. Why would the salesman sell me an accessory that does not work in my vehicle type. He should have informed me of this. I was misled along with the salesman being incompetent not knowing this feature would not work. I should be refunded for the $525.00 I paid and they can uninstall the device. Aside from this disappointment the vehicle engine start is extremely rough and take too long to warm up, thus I cant use the remote start as necessary. Right now its spring and 50s, how long will it take for this car to warm up in the cold winter months when its in the teens. Im also not sure how this was rated a top seller in its class. Huge disappointment with dealer and vehicle.

I purchased my 2008 Subaru Legacy in 2016 and absolutely love the car. I have never had a better car but when the airbag recall took effect thats when I found out the recall on the dashboard for melting and causing the reaction of not being able to see when the sun was shining on it. So when I called to get the dash done under the warranty they would not honor it. I just recommend when you do buy a Subaru make sure to actively check for recalls because on the airbag recall I have received over 100 notices but none for the dash. Thanks.

Subaru made net profits of $480,000,000 (Reuter.com) in 2012, billions of dollars in gross profit and yet, Mr. Takeshi Tachimori, Chairman, President, and CEO of Subaru of America, refuses to provide me with some oil. I purchased a new 2011 Subaru Forester. The computer system crashed at night in the rain on the freeway with 5 passengers. The engine failed in the Joshua Tree desert. Subaru finally replaced the engine short block after great time, energy and resources expended by me. The seat belts were recalled, parts (gas door opener) fell off; etc. Car has a horrible overheating problem that they cannot fix. Car continues to consume oil such that I have to add oil between oil changes. After many failed efforts, I wrote on Dec. 24, 2012 to Takeshi Tachimori, Chairman, President, and CEO of Subaru of America, stating that: engine short block malfunctioned; ECM reprogramming required the vehicle emission recall campaign (Nissan Subaru dealership claimed that they had reprogrammed ECM on 24 Feb. 12, & on 25 July 12. Mazda Subaru dealership claimed that the reprogramming had not, in fact, fulfilled this recall malfunction, and that they had to fulfill this reprogramming on Dec 21, 2012); seat belt recall; tank lever broke within first 100 miles (See repair, 26 Apr. 2012); replaced motor is still, as of Dec 21, consuming oil. In conclusion, 100% of authorized Subaru repair shops/mechanics spoken with state that it is not normal for a new Subaru with less than 15,000 miles to consume any oil at all, period. I asked billionaire Tachimori, for simply, I am requesting of you, that you authorize the local Subaru dealerships I have used (copies enclosed) to add oil to my car between oil changes without a cost to me. So little is asked of the Subaru billionaires, yet they refused. I will provide free advertising to any Toyota dealership. I wish so much that I had purchased a Toyota again, not a Subaru. If Mr. Tachimori will allow oil to be added when low, I will graciously provide a retraction.
