We drove the 2023 Rivian R1S, we spotted the 2023 Lamborghini Aventador successor, and Hyundai teased the 2023 Ioniq 5 N. It's the Week in Reverse, right here at Motor Authority. We got our first stint behind the wheel of the 2023 Rivian R1S and experienced the future of family adventure vehicles. While not quite as innovative in its packaging as the R1T pickup truck, the R1S has three rows of seats and even more off-road capability thanks to a shorter wheelbase and overall length. Volkswagen showed the redesigned Phaeton that never made it to production. VW had finished the design and built a fully functioning prototype of the second-generation Phaeton before pulling the plug just before production started. It was a secret until this week. Our spy photographer spotted the 2023 Lamborghini Aventador successor undergoing testing on public roads. The prototype sported the supercar's production bodywork with massive ducts for cooling and aerodynamics. Multiple design elements from the Sian supercar appeared on the tester. Tim Allen's 2000 Cadillac DeVille DTSi is up for auction. The luxury sedan sports multiple modifications, including ported and polished cylinder heads, higher-compression pistons, and new intake and exhaust systems that all help increase output to a claimed 398 hp. Hyundai N day is set for 7/15. The automaker announced the event on social media with three teaser images depicting the new N products to be revealed. Both the Ioniq 5 N and Ioniq 6 N appear to be in the works based on the teasers, but it's unclear what's hiding under the sheet of the third teaser. It might be a Sonata N or something completely different.

I bought a 2011 Hyundai, I was the second owner. As I was going to work I pulled out onto a main highway where the motor made this horrible noise and stopped, leaving me in terrible danger. People helped me push the car to get it backed off to a bit of safety zone, I had to have it towed to a garage. This car had 82,000. miles on it, it seems the motor was gone. It was then towed to the dealership, where it sat for 4 months before anyone even took a look at it. I keep calling them frequently about it and was told, they had so many cars before me in line they didnt have time to work on it.I had to find other means of transportation for work and other necessities. Only to be told because I was 2,000 over the second owners warranties that Hyundai refused to replace it. They had a class action suite against them, I was notified, but didnt have a problem at the time I was notified. Why would I spent $6,000 for a new one of their motors when the one I had was no good? I was told of others the same dealership that they had replaced motors with the overage mileage. I had expected to drive this car for at least 200,000 plus miles. Just goes to prove not all Lemons are yellow!

In 2006, I bought a used 2004 Hyundai accent automatic from Thrifty Car rental. I had the car checked through by Hyundai and they confirmed it was in perfect shape. About 6 months ago, shifting became very hard and sometimes the transmission would refuse to shift gear even if I had shifted it with the clutch. Problems got worse. I took it to Hyundai for a diagnostic test and was told it needed a new transmission which would cost $3,000.00. As the car is so old, I opted for a used transmission and took it to a shop where my husband had his transmission replaced. By now, it is 3 transmissions later, 1 computer later and the car has been in the 2nd shop for 2 weeks with a highly recommended transmission expert and it is not working. I sent 2 emails to Hyundai last week and never received an answer. I called today, on 9/23/2011, and after some back and forth, I was told that there is no recall and that they could not help me with the car. In the meantime, I checked online and found a lot of people complaining about transmission issues with exactly that 2004 car. Pages and pages, so there obviously is an issue. My son, who is learning to be a car mechanic and therefore has access to information we normal people do not, also found information on major issues with that years transmission. Yet Hyundai insists, there is no campaign on it, so there is nothing wrong on their end. I have been driving Hyundai since 1996 and loved that car, that is why I bought another one in 2004 but that car is proving to be quite a problem. Hyundai is certainly shattering my opinion of them.

Problems w/ Hybrid batt, charging system since the day I bought it. Poor fuel mileage, rated 57-59 mpg, actual 31-52 mpg. Brake peddle noise at 6,000 miles, noisy a/c fan at 15000. In shop 6 times in 1 1/2 years to diagnosis/repair, no help. Coil failure (car towed to shop) at 20,000.5 case #s opened. Requested buyback several times, they refused it. Case c/s reps. Rude, condescending & dismissive! Maryland lemon law complaint filed, in process. Will never buy a Hyundai product again!

So I ventured into a 48 mo lease back in Nov. 2011 on a 2012 Hyundai Elantra Limited. I got my vehicle from a well-known dealer down by the Philadelphia Auto Mall. The deal was fine, dealership was helpful and off I went in my new Elantra. The one small issue was with the color combination I had wanted but the dealer could not deliver on. So I settled on an available color combination and was happy nonetheless. Fast forward 3 1/2 years later and like a good loyal soldier I found myself back at the same dealership. This time I went in with a printout of the 2016 Elantra Limited I built on Hyundais online site. I was feeling confident I could finally get that color combination I had wanted back in Nov. 2011... NOPE!! The dealer searched around for my color combo and basically in so many words told me the closest location they could find my color combination was about 1,800 miles away in Oklahoma City. WHAT??? I figured I still and some time until my lease ended so I told them I was not in an immediate rush so they had time to get the vehicle (or one in that color combo) to Philadelphia. That suggestion was all but brushed off and I was basically given (once again!) the impression I would need to settle on a different color combination... I ended up in another vehicle that was NOT a Hyundai. My well maintained 2012 leased vehicle with 16,000 miles under the allowed mileage went back to the dealer and months later I receive a bill in the mail from Hyundai Finance totaling $850.20!! $380.00 for Excess Wear and Tear, $400.00 disposition fee and taxes totaling $70.20. As for the Excess Wear and Tear, did I mention my vehicle was well maintained? My carpets were NEVER even stepped on since the entire interior was lined with rubber flooring! There were no tears and/or burns to any seating surfaces. There were no dents and any scratches could be classified as your run of the mill light surface marks all finishes encounter at some point! With all that said, the biggest sticking point for me is that disposition fee. Or as I like to call it, a monetary gun to a consumers head to assure you NEVER leave their side. If Hyundai had such a wonderful product, the need to place a monetary gun to ones head to assure loyalty to the brand should not be necessary!!! Needless to say, I will NOT be a Hyundai customer again and my wife who is presently a Hyundai owner will not own a Hyundai in the future... at least not while I am breathing!! FINAL THOUGHT... Would you get into bed with Charles Manson? Venturing in to an auto lease with Hyundai can be eerily similar...

I bought my Hyundai Sonata in May 2011 and was happy, until on 15,000 mile service. My tires were rotated and I started to hear a noise. I went to the Hyundai service and told them about the noise. They called me about an hour after I left my car saying that the noise coming from the tires and the reason is lack of rotation. When I asked why lack of rotation will cause this problem, service manager told me that the way suspension set in my Sonata caused chopping of the rear wheels if they are not rotated each 5,000-7,500 miles. So Dear Hyundai! I did drive many other car brands and never was too strict about rotating the tires in time. It never made this type of terrible damage to the tires. I started to check online and realized that Im not alone! Digging a bit more, I understand now that one of the vectors for the rear wheels suspension alignment is static. This is the source of the issue!I contacted Hyundai customer affairs and asked to make exception and replace my 2 noisy tires now so I can drive my new car without this terrible noise. I said that I will not continue to complain about the strict rotation requirement and will do it as they advised in the service from now on. However, I also said that such exception tires handling should be communicated when they do the service or even when they sell the car. When I did my first, 7,500 miles service at Hyundai dealership, they did not offer me the rotation nor advised that I should do it and why it is important.Hyundai customer service answer was that I should not wait for service or Hyundai to tell me that I need to do a rotation but ask the service to make the rotation. Thank you for this advice! Im now on the list of unhappy Hyundai customers and probably will never go for another Hyundai nor let any of my friends to make the same mistake!

Hyundai Motor Finance is not an easy company to work with. We bought our Hyundai and the dealership had superb customer service. Those customer service expectations are obviously not universal when dealing with other entities of Hyundai. We pay our car payments on time every month. The online system did not process our online payment last month even though I got a confirmation number. Hyundai waited 3 weeks before notifying us that they had not received payment. I went online again and paid the payment. I followed up the next morning to verify payment was received. The customer service agent said it had not been. I went online and paid it again per her suggestion. Five days later, Hyundai takes out two payments for the same amount from my checking account. When asked if they could refund, they told me I had to get a letter from the bank, show transaction history, and wait roughly 7 days until the check was cut and sent to me. They can draft accounts but not credit them. I asked if they were going to take care of my late fees. The supervisor said she needed to review the past 3 calls that I had with Hyundai over the last 2 weeks to determine. It may take a few days for someone to get back to me. My complaint is that the customer service reps that I spoke with each time told me different information, and Hyundai does not believe the customer is always right; they believe they are right until proven otherwise, which penalizes the customer. Do not work with Hyundai Motor Finance. They have cost me fees, time, and money from missing hours at work, from having to chase down letters from the bank, only accepting faxed info, not email info and not being able to handle concerns over the phone. All complaints must be in writing.

I have a 2007 Hyundai Elantra and my air bag light has been on for about a year. I had it fixed a year ago and it came back on about three weeks later. I went to the dealer for the recall. They completed the recalls on the connector cover and ACU programming and the light is still on! The dealer recommended I replace the front passenger seatbelt buckle, which I did and the light is still on! I suggest everyone on this site take five minutes and report your issues to the government at www.nhtsa.gov or call 1-888-327-4236. This is the only way we will get a recall to have this problem fixed. Obviously, the recalls out there arent fixing the problem so please call and file a complaint.

I needed to have my car back so i had the dealership do the repair and i paid for it. I was contact by Hyundai as a result of this post (they emailed me) and i called them and left a message. Then i called a week later saying that i havent heard back from the gentleman. He called me later that day and told me that since my car is out of warranty, and that they did honor the warranty on the 4th ignition coil even though it was out of warranty... there is nothing they could do. They obviously wont recall it, they wont refund me. Again... car parts go bad... but for each coil (there are 4 of them) to go bad and then ANOTHER one... you would think that there is some defect in the manufacturing that is causing the coils to fail.I informed him that it would take an act of god for me to purchase a Hyundai again, or any vehicle that they manufacture.

I have had this car for 14 days. When I bought it the salesman could not get the nav to show anything but one major interstate. I trusted (HUGE MISTAKE) that the dealership would make it right. Now they tell me it has to be set at 150 feet to show street names. If youre on the highway going 60 mph - or even back roads at 40 - you wont have enough time to make the correct turns. Had they been honest about the severe limitations of the cars navigation system, I would have NEVER bought it. It would have been a deal breaker. I feel the dealership beginning to be very sleazy about this: Hyundai Great Lakes in Streetsboro, OH. Theyre basically telling me tough luck.I will not take the car back; am preparing to call my lawyer and will scream to the high heavens about this. I was tricked and lied to by this dealership. I am having a huge issue with the quality of service that I am receiving from Hyundai’s service department in Carlsbad. I had an issue with my car on Friday 10/5 around 730 am. I had the car brought to the service department at the dealership by AAA that morning. I received a call from the AAA driver that my car was dropped off at 815. I didn’t hear anything until 2pm from Ulysses that they received my car. He had a second to look at it and maybe it had just run out of gas. I explained that it was having issues prior & when the AAA guy jumped in it did turn on before bogging out so if they could do a diagnostic to the car just to make sure everything else was fine.He asked for my consent to put $20 worth of gas in it and then let me know if it turned on before doing the diagnostic. It has now been 5 days and I have not received one text or call. I called to get an update about the gas, but Ulysses had already left for the day. When I called today I was placed on hold for 13 mins before a rude receptionist told me Ulysses was out for the next two days and won’t be getting to my car. Is this what I can now normally expect from this location? Before moving out here I would take it to the dealership in Corona and they have always given me the best service, quick and communicated great with what was going on. I now feel slight nervous and used leaving my car at a dealer that is so unresponsive and upright rude every time I’ve called.

I took it in to get the engine fixed and they denied my request. They stated that based on what they saw, I didnt maintain the vehicle. Not once did they ask for my service records! Hyundai treated me with total disregard regarding my disposition fee being extended. I had a hip injury and need a hip replacement. I paid the fee and wrote a letter asking if they would reimburse me the $439.05 until September 2019 when I would be able to drive again and purchase a new car from them at that time. They refused me and showed no compassion or consideration to me at all. It was all about the money they wanted. The whole disposition fee is to repair the car of any problems or cosmetic issues. My car was UNDER 13,500 miles which definitely improves the value of the car. I’m the only one that drove it and it was taken perfect care of. I even had an oil change done on it and filled the car up with gas the day I turned it in. The gentleman at Circle Hyundai said he never saw a car returned that still looked brand new. My wife, 64, was driving out one owner Hyundai Accent on a private road about 15MPH when the airbags suddenly deployed without any impact occurring to the vehicle. My wife received severe bruises on both arms and the face and the windshield was shattered by impact from the passenger side airbag deployment. We were fortunate as she was going very slowly and there was no other traffic... Had she been in busy traffic or on an interstate, there would probably have been a major collision and severe injury or possible death. Hyundai local dealership (Perkins Motors of Colorado Springs) was appraised of the problem but refused to do anything. When we contacted Hyundai HQ consumer affairs we were told that they would send us a packet of papers to be filled out and returned to them. They would then let us know in six or eight weeks whether they would do anything. The car is undriveable... And my wife will never drive it again after the scare she received together with the potential for a much more horrible outcome than actually occurred.Hyundai seems to have no interest in seeing the vehicle and figuring out what may have gone wrong and whether it might be a risk factor for other owners as well, despite the obvious implications of consumer risk when airbags inflate without any cause. I volunteered to haul the car to the local dealership at my own expense and inconvenience and they responded that they would not look at it even if I did so unless I agreed to pay for all repairs in advance. One would think that they would care to find out what might have gone wrong. All in all, it has been a horrible experience and the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Note to all Hyundai owners: I would have to recommend that you NOT drive your vehicles as the potential for a major accident is very real and, like other manufacturers in the past, Hyundai seems to feel no sense of urgency in finding out what the core problem is and fixing it.

Failure to live up to warranty - The ESC light comes on and the car goes into a limp mode? It vibrates and wont accelerate. Five failures in the past 30 days. The general manager now tells me the car is fine, but he cant say what theyve repaired. Meanwhile, Hyundai Consumer Assistance 800-633-5151 gave me a case number and then advised me that they shipped the case to their regional office but cant give me the telephone number. The regional office was to call me last week and then this week, no calls. Some warranty!

Recently my 2011 Sonata wouldnt start. The dealer replaced the bendix (by the starter), with the mechanic stating that he repairs 4/5 of these a day!? At only 27,000 miles, WHY did this bendix (evidently made out of plastic), not function?!? (Fortunately, my vehicle is still under warranty). I recently purchased a 2013 Hyundai Elantra and I was sold a higher model which cost me an additional $1,700 + taxes as I required the Bluetooth technology for my cell phone as I conduct work in my car. I was assured it works with all cell phone models and after purchasing the vehicle, the option does not work with my Blackberry 9900. After researching the issue, it is a known problem that Hyundai Canada is aware of. Despite contacting them and sending in a formal complaint to their customer relations department, they refuse to do anything to remedy the situation. I’m very dissatisfied and I will never recommend a Hyundai to anyone I know. I am disappointed with the fact that the product doesnt work (doesnt synch). But what is more upsetting is that they simply brush me off and refuse to find me a suitable solution. I will be forced to go purchase a new device and incur additional charges (~$700) just so I am able to use their Bluetooth technology with a phone model that their product is compatible with.

I was in a severe car accident last May. Hyundai tells me they are working directly with my insurance company and that the charges would be covered, not to worry and if there’s any problems they’ll contact me. With recovering from injuries, they give me no indication that I still have a balance from the crash that the insurance did not cover. They put me in a brand new car without even mentioning the thousands I’ve dollars I still owed. I was left in the dark. My credit score plummeted. I then find out through the credit bureau that I have a balance on my Hyundai account that was never dealt with. I call Hyundai and they tell me it’s my fault and I should have checked in with them. I explain to them I was told everything’s as being taken care of while I was being treated in the hospital and if anything was off that I would receive a call. They tell me I shouldn’t trust everything people say!!! No word of lie, that’s what they said to me. I’ll NEVER do business with Hyundai again. They do not care about their loyal customers at all. Ruthless.

My daughters 2012 Tuscon (ix35) has just been diagnosed as needing a new motor despite having been Hyundai serviced at every specified interval. Car has traveled only 101,000 kms or 60,000 miles. Reading all other reviews it seems Hyundai have the same game plan outside of Australia too. They refer you to customer care, a young person who claims no car knowledge and simply contacts the dealer to contact the customer and of course they dont and so the cycle continues until you get sick of their game. North Korea has the little rocket man, but South Korea has a secret weapon called Hyundai. No thanks to customer care in Sydney and no thanks to Blood Hyundai in Geelong,Victoria.Dealer promised my heartbroken daughter an email on how much it would cost to replace engine. We have heard nothing. It took me 1 call to a Hyundai wrecker- $4900 to supply & fit used motor and internet research found another owner same car same problem quoted $8 to 14k. 2 lessons learnt here, first dont get car serviced at dealerships and no more foreign made cars. I own 2 Ford Falcons, an 07 ute with over 300k drives like new and a US 63 Falcon with original engine and tranny 56 years old and still in use. Hyundai do not touch them. Its just a matter of time.

My 2013 Hyundai Veloster engine went bad for the 2nd time after six years. The 1st time it was under warranty and it was replaced in five weeks and I received a rental vehicle paid by Hyundai. The 2nd engine failed two years after it was replaced and after a recall was completed at the dealership to correct an ignition issue that could damage the engine. It took ten weeks to replace the engine and I did not receive a rental or loaner car. Hyundai did replace the engine out of warranty but it is obvious that they know they have issues with this engine. Who has two engines go bad in six years? I picked up my car from the service department on a Friday and traded it in on a VW Saturday morning. I will never own a Hyundai ever again!

This is a safety issue and Hyundai says its not covered! I am reading this particular issue over and over on websites! It is very poor that there is no warranty on this issue. Several hundred dollars is needed out of my pocket to repair it. I cant afford it. So, in case of an accident, too bad! And yes, the passenger air bag had to be repaired couple of years ago. Now, neither work (according to the system).

On Monday 3/7/16 my 2013 Hyundai Sonata accelerated on its own, jumped a curb and hit a tree. The airbag went off. The insurance company totaled the car on 3/16/16. The miles on this car was about 26,000. It was 7 a.m. and I was parking getting ready to put car in park and the car just accelerated on its own. The air bag caused a burn on my arm and I had to go to the doctor twice for the burn. I had on a fairly new Chicos top which was burned and hit the garbage. Because of the time and no one else in the parking lot no one else was involved, For this I am grateful. I have had to purchase a new car and of course is not a Hyundai. The car was registered in my husbands name Robert **.

I purchased a brand new 2017 Hyundai Tucson on Nov 29 2018. Right now it only has 14300 kms on it. I was driving down a divided highway 6 in the morning with no one else on it besides myself and my child in the vehicle when my rear window exploded into my car sending glass all over my 2 yr old in his car seat. I was right in front of the Police station when it happened and no one was around... Hyundai says that it came from a impact but since I was the only one on the road there was no way that I could have got hit in the rear window. I took pics and brought the car to the dealership and gave them it to them... THEY NEVER even inspected my vehicle, they just emailed the pics to head office where they said it was from a impact. HOW DO YOU TELL THAT IT WAS FROM A IMPACT WHEN YOU NEVER EVEN LOOKED AT THE CAR TO SEE. I have called places that repairs windows like speedy glass and they even said that it could be from a short in the defrost in the rear window that caused it to explode. Since this happened I have had no satisfaction with this broken rear windshield... Myself and my child were very startled and no one from Hyundai has even done anything but send a email off. I am so very disgusted in the complete lack of everything. This has to be the worst service I have ever had... They never even offered to look over the car, never offered a loaner to get around in and never even offered to make sure the rear window was sealed up so the snow and rain would not get in.Right now I would never buy a car from Hyundai again. My child is scared to even go near this little toy cars because of the fright. I am even afraid of putting him back into the car because if it is a short in the electrical that caused the window to explode, will cause it to happen again... I hope that this message tells the truth behind the LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE. All I want is my rear windshield replaced at no cost to me... And I want people to actually look over the problem before they say what caused it. YOU CANT SAY WHAT HAPPENED THROUGH A PIC AND NOT LOOK AT THE PROBLEM ITSELF... I can keep going on about this but I think I made my point. I hope that something gets done with this message.

In July 2015, I bought 2015 Hyundai Sonata limited edition. It comes with 5 year road side assistance. Yesterday June 25, 2016, I went to Twin Lakes State Park for small picnic with my wife and 10 months old son. When I was about to return home around 6:30 PM, I realized that I left my keys in the trunk and the car locked out. My mobile doesnt have any network signal, luckily I have called the Hyundai road side assistance by using my friends mobile. The customer care professional took all my details and said, somebody is going to call me.After 5 mins I got a call from someone and they reviewed my details and said, the warranty on my VIN number is not showing up, and they are going to call the dealer and update me. I didnt get any after 30 mins so I called them back again. The story started from scratch again, they took all my details again and said they are going to send a text message, a driver details and approximate arrival time. I waited for some more time and called again, this time the automatic answering machine was telling that, my request was put on hold and asked me to un-hold. I have opted for un-hold, the story started again, they verified all the details again, but luckily this time the customer care professional was nice and told that, he will take it personally and try to reach the driver right away and update. He kept me on-hold for 10 mins and said, he tried to reach around 10 drivers and none of them are not available right now. He continued and said, he will try to reach more drivers personally and call me back once he gets the driver. All this story lasted for about 2 hours, but I havent got any assurance for any help. No assurance on somebody coming, when...etc. I really felt sad about this, because Hyundai made lots of promises for road side assistance when I bought my car. More importantly I was at the lake almost alone with my friends and 10 months old son waiting for this road side assistance.

I have a 2007 Sonata. The airbag light has come on 3 times. One of those times, the passenger seat had to be removed in order to be fixed. It was under recall. This last time, Im told it is the driver side seat belt. When it came on I was under 60,000. My mechanic thought it came on because he had disconnected the battery and he reset it. Four days later, it came on again, right after I went over 60,000 miles and was no longer under warranty. The dealer did not have the part in stock and could not get me in to service it right away. I was leaving in 2 days to make a long drive, which is 6000 miles total.

I bought a 2011 Hyundai Elantra in Feb. 2011. The only reason I bought this car was for the gas mileage advertisement, 29 city/40 hwy. I was getting 22 city and 40 hwy. This was acceptable, even though the city was 7 miles lower. After my 3000 mile oil change, I am now getting 16 miles city. I have taken my car to the dealer. They said they could not gauge city driving. I asked them what is the problem. They tested the car on the highway going 30 miles. They said they averaged 34 miles. I am totally dissatisfied with the low mileage. Most of my driving is city/partial highway and I am hard time living with this situation. In 2010, I had a Nissan Altima, loaded and got 18 city miles and in the mid 30s highway. Presently, I am averaging 177 miles to 10.5 gallons of gas. Is there anything I can do about this?

I have a 2010 Hyundai Entourage. I purchased this vehicle thinking it would be a reliable vehicle in July 2017. It had only 125,000 kms and was in great condition. So far I havent been exactly thrilled with reliability. But my impression changed today when I went into Hyundai dealership to order new a/c-heater control panel since my button for fan speed has broken. I was told there was one available but at a stupendous price of $900.00. I pretty gagged when they told me this. I was expecting $200.00-$300.00 which is till expensive but at least tolerable. After this experience, I will never buy another Hyundai vehicle because replacement parts are sold at a totally rip off price. $900.00 for a piece of electronic that simply controls heat and fan speeds. It doesnt even have automatic temperature control on this unit.

I bought a Hyundai Elantra in 2007 with a three year warranty. Within the first two weeks, the indicator switch had to be replaced. This happened again over a period of a year and now that the warranty has expired, the indicator only works manually.Approximately 8 months after purchasing the vehicle, we heard a grinding rear noise, especially when reversing. It was very noticeable. I am an Estate Agent and it was embarrassing. The local mechanics examined the car and after saying that they knew exactly what they were doing, replaced the rear disk pads and callipurs, etc. with the approval of head office. A week later, the noise was back. I took it to the local supplier but they could not find the fault. My husband kept on saying that they should look at the release bearing and they ignored it. The car was eventually taken to Johannesburg, and a week later, I was informed that it was the release bearing. Remember, this was over a period of a year. They replaced the release bearing just before the warranty expired. All was fine for a few months and then we heard a noise in the engine. I took it in and was told that the valve lifters had to be replaced at a cost of $4,200.00. I phoned head office but they replied that it was out of warranty and not their problem anymore. The day we collected the car, we noticed that the noise had not disappeared. Fortunately, our car was at the wash bay when the workshop exploded (not so sure it was fortunate). The mechanic who released the car to us admitted that there was a noise, but seeing that they had no equipment, nothing could be done about it at that stage. When they arranged for an alternative workshop and the proper equipment, I took the car in. To my utter amazement, they phoned me a day later to tell me that the oil pump, timing chain, and tensioner had to be replaced at a cost of $10,000. Fix one thing and another one appears. What guarantee do I have that this will be the end of my woes and that the problem has been diagnosed properly? I spoke to the Manager, Ben, and told him that I wanted a second opinion and that I would take the car to Bloemfontein. He agreed with me and told me that a car with 70,000 km on the clock should not have all these problems and that I should take it further. I was really excited when I received my brand new car but now, I feel like setting it alight. My husband is so frustrated that he just wants to get rid of the car. We listened to an engine of a similar Elantra - what a difference. My brother in law had an Elantra which clocked 600,000 km and it hardly ever had any problems and that is one of the reasons why we bought one.Let me just say that the local supplier and his staff had always been helpful and friendly, but they can only help to a point and after that they have to abide by Imperials Rules. I will not stop until something is done about it.I appeal to you. Please see what you can do for me.

Bought a brand new 2017 Hyundai Tucson eco, I only had it for a few months and its been in the shop more than I have been driving it. All types of problems with the electrical, it is at the shop at the moment I am typing this while mechanics are scratching their heads to figure out what is wrong with it and how to fix it. I called Hyundai corporate they said they would return my call, You think they did. What a joke. They have no concerns about the safety issues with this car even though I tell them that the windshield wipers stick two to three inches from take off on the windshield. AC sounds like Gremlins are about to attack you coming from the vents. Transmission drives and shifts like somebody that does not know how to drive a stick shift when this is an automatic vehicle. Gas gauge sticks even though its full and you cant put any more in it. The gas gauge will read from a half tank to 3/4 of a tank full until you hit a bump. Including with the issues the dash lights dim and brighten by themself. This car should have yellow lemons painted all over it along with every car that Hyundai puts out especially since corporate is treating their customers this way, not a very good ethic on gaining your customers Trust or to get repeat customers. I really dont understand how this company is in business. I guess thats why our government had to do a bail out on their **. My experience alone it has been a real shady experience.

I was surprised by my father when he got me a brand new Hyundai Tucson last May of 2011. My old car prior to this one was a Toyota Vios - manual transmission, so this is definitely something more special as it is bigger and it has an automatic transmission making the drive easier for me. I used my Hyundai going to work and it really did not disappoint me especially during rush hour. The handling of my Hyundai is very good. It is very fuel efficient and it accelerates smoothly - very zippy. It is very easy to drive and it doesnt seem to be too big especially for a girl like me who is not tall. The leg room at the back is also very spacious and could definitely accommodate tall people. The compartment at the back is also very big. I did not encounter any problems with my Hyundai up until the time that I sold it. I was really saddened when I have to say goodbye to it earlier this year because it was my favorite but my husband got a brand new Mitsubishi so we have to let go of our old Hyundai. Hyundai is definitely recommended!

I visited the Larry H Miller Hyundai dealership on Aug 26, 2016. Through their website I applied for financing to purchase a used vehicle. Shortly afterwards I received a call from someone claiming to be in their finance department. This person told me I was approved for financing and rattled off a range of payment amounts. Now, at this point I had not told them what vehicle I wanted so there was no way they could tell me what my supposed payment was. I told him great, I will keep looking at your inventory and when I find something I will contact you.In the meantime I requested information regarding their financing offer. I made this request in writing via email 8 times, over the phone several times and through their chat system twice. And yet, after 10 days I couldnt get ANYONE with this dealership to even tell me the name of the company who wants to sell me a loan. I certainly never received the lawfully required WRITTEN finance offer with all the appropriate legal information as required by State and Federal Law.Finally, I made one more attempt to resolve this issue without going through all this. I contacted Larry H Miller Hyundai, explained I had an issue that I needed help with and I asked to speak to their Finance department head. Not only did they not let me speak to this person, they REFUSED to even tell me this persons name. All they would do is take down my email, which they already had for over a week. Now that I have to start a vehicle search over again, I am still going to suffer a financial penalty when I apply for financing from another dealer/bank. You only get so many credit bureau hits during a two year period and now I am going to be penalized with a higher interest rate because I will have another hit on my credit report. And of course I still dont have the vehicle I was trying to buy originally.

I purchased a 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT new, and have driven it for four years, putting about 70K miles on it. Based on my multiple bad experiences with this car, I will never again purchase another Hyundai vehicle. First - as is well known, the true MPG is nowhere near the marketing claims made by Hyundai (and there is an unresolved class action lawsuit underway to address that). Then I had a problem where the rear quarter-panel window trim fell off - fortunately I found a TSB published on the internet about that, so Hyundai fixed it under warranty. If I hadnt researched the problem and printed out the TSB, the dealer would have charged me $$$ for the repair. Then most recently I had a problem where the clutch started chattering/slipping. My mechanic discovered that the transmission input shaft seal was defective/leaking. Even though this is covered by the Hyundai 10 year/100K warranty - Hyundai refused to honor the warranty and pay for the repair. I cant wait to trade in this car, and kiss Hyundai goodbye forever. If you are considering buying a Hyundai vehicle, I would recommend purchasing instead a vehicle with higher quality/reliability and from a manufacturer who stands behind their product and their warranty commitments (think Honda, Toyota, Mazda). And definitely dont count on the Hyundai 10 year/100K warranty actually providing you any protection from product defects.

I purchased a new 2015 Hyundai Sonata Sport. After the second week, found the passenger outer door handle doesnt work properly. So I called my salesman, made the appointment to bring the car in. While having this problem, the car hobbles every morning. Dealership told me it was the tires, and there is nothing they can do about it. The tires will smooth out in an half a mile. Well this every day thing stinks! On top of it the driver’s seat creaks, and now has somehow gone away, and after waxing it for the first time I find blemishes in the paint. Nothing you can do about it, it will just look worse if you fix it. The biggest problem is the Blue Link telecommunications in the car. It is terrible. It was so poor. I was calling Blue Link every day with issues like, why wont the car start with the phone, why wont it unlock the doors, and the maps they use are google, which are not updated often, so the car has no idea on where to take you. The whole car after one month just feels like Ive owned it for years, like a used car. I will never purchase a Hyundai again. I tried it, not worth it.

If I can save you the trouble from leasing from Hyundai, then please listen
If I can save you the trouble from leasing from Hyundai, then please listen carefully. I have always leased my cars. Ford, Volvo, Saab, etc. Ive NEVER had an issue with a leasing company, process has been flawless. Hyundai Financial has been an absolute nightmare. At lease end, Hyundai send out a 3rd party to look over your car. There is no wear and tear allowed for a 3-year lease. The 3rd party company spends 1 1/2 hrs going over your car with a magnifying glass (true!) and then hands you a bill for $3,000. If there is a pen mark on your seats, then you have to replace the entire fabric on all the seats. They then tell you that this is just a guide for you to get things fixed and this will never go to Hyundai. Thats a lie. We took the car to have the ridiculous list addressed, spent hundreds of dollars getting tiny scratches out, the pen mark on the fabric (there were no dents, tires were brand new, under mileage, etc.), and faxed over the complete report to Hyundai. The car was in such perfect condition that when we turned it in, the dealership leasing manager called the sales manager and said they needed to buy this car. A month later, we get the $3,000 bill from Hyundai. They DO NOT send someone out to look over the car after the work is done. They go completely off the original work their 3rd party sends them. We submitted our receipts 3 times and they told us they didnt like the wording on our invoices and suggested we wrote it ourselves! I said feel free to call the company that we paid hundreds of dollars to who worked on our car 3 days. The detail shop called us, said Hyundai was extremely rude, and that was the end of that. Three months later, on Christmas Eve morning, we get a call from a collection agency that says we owe $3,000. We now have to hire an attorney. STAY FAR AWAY FROM HYUNDAI!

Incident: vehicle (2016 Genesis 3.8 AWD) completely lost throttle power in the MIDDLE of a busy road. Fortunately no property or personal damage occurred. Car was towed and ALL rentals from local dealers were out secondary to Sonata recalls. Defects were found to be throttle body and actuator. Reason for the complaint: 1. Vehicle was purchased brand new, less than 40K and 3 year old vehicle shouldnt have such a defect. 2. Since all local rentals are out, Hyundai/Genesis did not take the initiatives to offer customer with an alternatives and follow ups are very slow and ineffective. Hence the complaint, and shame on their boast of 100,000 warranty guarantee.

I loved my Hyundai Sonata for the first couple of years. Had a couple of minor issues, but nothing major. After that, things started to go wrong - full throttle pump had to be replaced ($1000) dollars. Last week I hit 100,000 miles on my car. Then the next day the check engine light went on. Took it to the mechanic and they said it was something with the oil pump. They cleaned it, did an oil change, light went off. Next day, light came back on. Took it back, they replaced the part and when they took it for a test drive, the engine began seizing up. They told me it needed a new engine. Had it towed to dealership. They also said it needed a new engine. They told me that since it was over warranty, there would be no coverage. They informed me that the goodwill warranty determination would have to come from Hyundai manufacturing. Hyundai manufacturing told me it was determined by the dealership. I called the dealership again and they sent me back to Hyundai manufacturing.

Approx. 6 weeks ago, the brakes in my 2009 Sonata failed. I brought the car to my mechanic and he replaced the rear brakes. Two weeks later, the same thing happened. I had the front brakes replaced. Again, 2 weeks later, I slid through a red light because the brakes failed yet again. I had the car towed to the nearest Hyundai dealer. They informed me that they found nothing wrong with the brakes until I told them that I would not drive that car. So, they had better look again. Miraculously, 10 minutes later, they found that the caliper was broken and blamed it on the mechanic that replaced my brakes. So now, it was not under warranty. I paid the bill of $413.54 to replace the part. Not quite 2 weeks later, the car was making a very loud screeching sound -- like metal on metal. I had the car towed to the Nemet dealership where I originally purchased the vehicle. The mechanic, Jeff, told me that I needed new back brakes. When I tried to explain the entire situation, he did not want to hear it, and he told me that what happened at the other dealership did not matter, kind of like McDonalds is a chain of stores owned by different people, so is the Hyundai dealerships. He also informed me that I would be charged $625.00 to replace the back brakes again and if I did not want to pay, I should take the car back to the mechanic that did the brakes originally.I paid for a tow truck to take the car to Nemet, and again, to pick it up from Nemet to be brought to my mechanic. He replaced the left caliper that had already been replaced by Advantage Hyundai! That’s another $221.02 spent! I was livid, so I called Nemet and explained to the salesman what was going on again. He told me to bring the car into his dealership and when I got it back, they would work something out with me. On Saturday, 9/3 I, took the car to the Nemet dealership . Anthony, the salesman and the sales manager tried to put me in a smaller vehicle -- the Hyundai Elantra. I requested another down payment, and they wanted me to sign another 5 year payment plan! They informed me that my warranty had been voided when I took my car to a certified mechanic to have the brakes done and not to a Hyundai dealership. I was not looking to use my car a trade. I wanted to be treated fairly. Two years ago, I paid a down payment on a car that I thought would last me a good long time. Now, I find that this product is not backed by the company that sells it. This is the 3rd Hyundai I have purchased through Nemet.I do want a new vehicle that is comparable to the one I bought, not smaller. I already paid 2 years of a loan. Why should I have to start over when I have only 3 years left on a vehicle that is defective? I dont feel I should have to pay another down payment, or a higher monthly payment and I should not have to pay for more than 3 years!I called the dealership (Nemet) when I returned home and asked for the name of the CEO and was told that the CEO died. And then I requested to speak with the General Manager. She asked what was it in reference to and told me to hold on. She came back on the phone and asked for my name. When I told her who it was, all of a sudden Scott ** was unavailable to speak with me, when I know he was there for a meeting with his sales staff that morning because I had to wait for the sales person! The advertisement reads “our customers are number 1”. Really, when does that apply?

I purchased a brand new Sonata, 2.0 Limited edition May 2016. I have 1,032 miles on the car. I was backing out of a parking spot when the power steering failed. It took roadside assistance 2.45 hours to get me and tow my car to the dealership. This happened July 16, 2016. Today is July 26 and the response that I am getting from the service center is that there are major computer problems thats causing the issue and they are working with technicians from Hyundai to get it fixed. They do not know when this will be done. I did some research and saw that there was a recall on the same vehicle prior to the manufacture date of my vehicle. I also experienced an issue with the ABS brakes. When I am stopped in traffic the brake will release and I have to press harder on the brake for the car to stop rolling. Oh, this is also caused by the computer failure. From what I have read thus far on this site, and carcomplaints.com this seems to be a reoccurring...major issue and it appears that Hyundai does not know what or how to fix it. I am very upset about this whole situation right now. Paying for a car that I cant drive. Im concerned that this will continue to be a safety issue and Hyundai has no idea how to repair it. In the middle of dealing with death in the family and having to travel out of town, I was given a loaner, but they did not want me to drive that one out of state (NC), so they gave me a rental. Its a 2016 Hyundai Sonata and would you believe that I have to go trade that car out for another vehicle today because the engine light is on. I contacted Hyundai myself to see if I could get any answers, they said they were unaware of the issue and opened a case. They said they will allow the dealership 3-5 business days to respond and would get back with me. At what point does this become a serious recall issue and we as consumers get this resolved.

I bought a 2012 Hyundai Tucson on Jan 2018 with only 50k miles on it and in great condition. I have kept up with the regular services. Last week with just over 100k miles (right after the warranty expired) a huge hole blew in my engine while I was driving 70mph down the highway. I had an oil change two weeks prior, so thought maybe they messed something up, but I had the car towed into a shop and they said there was still oil in the engine but there was a huge hole, indicating that it was faulty manufacturing. But since the warranty expired, I am out of luck. I went online to see if there is anything I can do, only to find out that tons of other 2012 Tucson drivers have experienced the same exact thing happening and that there is a class action lawsuit against Kia and Hyundai, but that this particular year of Tucson was not included. I had the engine recall service at Hyundai back on Oct 2019 and kept up with oil changes. This is clearly a manufacturer issue and they need to take responsibility to fix these models as well. I will be looking into how to get these models included in the lawsuit, or start a new one. I thought these were good cars, but now see that they are not made well and arent safe at all.

Its time to stand up and voice your concerns to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Please make sure you file your complaint with the FTC too by visiting their websites. They need to know about how Hyundai is treating their customers and lying to the public. Please note, I have tried to contact the people at the corporate office and they will only forward your concerns back to consumer affairs. The same people who dont care to resolve your complaint. I received a letter from Hyundai with the promise of ten $1.00 gold coins if I went to my local Hyundai dealer on specific days. I did bring the letter as I was told and spoke to the person from Hyundai that was handling that promotion. Although I did not buy a car that day, I was told that the gold coins would be mailed to me in 7-10 business days. It has been over three weeks and I have not seen any coins yet. This deal was at King Hyundai in Deerfield Beach, Florida. I really feel that this is a real come on and false advertising. I am not sure I would return to this dealer (although I have bought a car from them before) and I am not sure I care to buy another car from them when I decide to buy. Hopefully, you can straighten out this problem and send me the money I am entitled to.

After purchasing my AWD Hyundai Tucson in October 2016, I have been notified that this specific model had a dual clutch transmission defect that results in delayed acceleration from stop. The recall did not solve the problem and all my complains regarding the transmission was denied by Hyundai dealers. Since that date any time I go to the dealer complaint about loud transmission vibration and sound and delay on acceleration etc. they simply reply sorry this is due to the discontinued DCT defect that is well known for this model as if I have to accept it and live with it. The real problem that I have discovered that Hyundai has known about this defect prior selling the car to me and still they sold it and I simply have to live with the defective transmission that will definitely crash in the very near future!!!

Since I purchased the new Hyundai Sonata 2012, I have had problems starting
Since I purchased the new Hyundai Sonata 2012, I have had problems starting the vehicle. Within the 1st week of purchase, it had to be towed because it wouldnt start. It didnt recognize the keys (keyless remote). They didnt find a problem. The second time, it didnt recognize the brake to start the car. This time, they changed a faulty brake switch. This occurred in the 1st month of purchase. Now at about 15,066 miles, they had to fix the grounding wires under the brake switch which also made it so the lights were not turning on at night and the car didnt start. My car had to get a jump from the tow truck driver. On all 3 times, I had to miss work and my son was late going to school. Having a car not start is very dangerous as a single parent, especially at night. Having the lights not work is also dangerous as I was flashed at many times on the freeway and didnt know why it wasnt working. Ladin provided me with a loaner car, which was greatly appreciated. This problem got worse and caused further concerns such as the lights not working. I have seen the same problem listed by others with this vehicle. Very dangerous for anyone. This has been a lemon since the first week of purchase in that I could not start a brand new car and the problem continued 2 other times and further corrupted the lights. I do not feel confident driving this car as each time I was assured that it would be fine, it was not fine. Thank you for your help in addressing this matter.

In February, I purchased a 2011 Hyundai Elantra Ltd. I was looking for an efficient, low MPG car and was pleased to hear that Hyundai offered a car with up to 40 MPGs highway. I dont feel that I do get the best mileage for combined city/highway, but this is not my issue. Last month on September 8, 2011, I hit a pothole. I called AAA and was informed by them that I had to be towed because there was no spare. I was shocked. I had to be towed, waited for the Mobile station to order a tire and was 1 hour late for work. I have found that the Continental, low-profile tires do not stand up to wear and tear, as my 2001 Honda Civic did. I had to change the tire because of a bubble and then had to change the tire because of the pothole. I am upset, not only because of the poor performance of the tires, but the main issue is that Hyundai misrepresents the product by not informing people that they are purchasing a car that does not come with a spare or a donut. They also do not cover towing with their road-side service. If I had not had AAA, I would have had to pay. I ended up with different tire, than the Continentals because they were not available, so I have an odd tire, all because I could not wait to have the car repaired. I called Advantage Hyundai in Bethpage, Long Island and was informed that the Hyundai Elantra no longer comes with a spare and only has a pump with some sort of sealant. They also told me that the spare would cost $380 if I wanted to order it and it was on back-order (could it be that others want a spare as well?).I understand this is a new trend in auto manufacturing (Chevy is doing the same), but my contention is that this should be made aware to the prospective purchaser of the car and told that a spare was an option and that the weight of the tire would bring down the MPGs for the vehicle. I find that this is fraudulent advertising, since the reason they can get up to 40 mpg for the Elantra is because they eliminated the weight of the spare tire. Now, I was lucky. I could have been somewhere up in the mountains, where I had no cell service and needed to change my own tire. What would I have done then? This could be dangerous. I have read articles claiming changing a tire on the road is dangerous, but if you are in the middle of nowhere, then what? I dont think that I should have to pay for a spare. I have contacted the customer service online from Hyundai and have been told that I need to go to my Hyundai dealer to buy a new tire and then they will determine if I should get a credit for it. I find this unacceptable.I have only had this car since February and have a lease for more than two years. I have not saved money on the gas and have spent a lot on tires. I dont want to be towed again. It is upsetting and there is no way I can break my lease. What are my options? I am sure that others have this problem, as well. I have asked people that I have seen in the street if they were informed about the missing spare and they have told me that they did not know that they didnt have one. I really need to resolve this. This is the first year that auto manufacturers are doing this no-spare thing and I think that I had a right to be told. I may not have taken the car and gotten stuck with this lease.

My 2006 Sonata with 38,000 miles developed a bad engine noise. I took it to two dealers in Rochester, NY and it was diagnosed as a defective part in the hydraulic system, keeping chain tension. The cost to repair was $1000. Not something that should be happening on a car with only 38,000 miles. I called Hyundai Customer Affairs and they would not accept responsibility for the problem. This car was passed from father to daughter due to death 4 months earlier and as of 2004, the warranties do not pass to the beneficiary. If the father still owned the car, it would be covered. Hyundai wont credit a months lease payment even though my vehicle is in for engine repairs for over a month and the clock is still ticking. I leased a 2012 Genesis R-spec. Around 12,000 miles, I started hearing intermittent engine knocking. When I took the car in for service, a service specialist said there is no issue and any engine issues would be covered by a warranty. 5,000 miles later, the engine knocking was happening all the time above 2,500 RPM or under acceleration or driving up a hill. When I took the car in for service, the service specialist said yes, this engine knocking. Five weeks later, Im still without my Genesis. Apparently, Hyundai doesnt know how to maintain a parts supply chain very well. Besides the engine problem, there are other design problems with the car: seats with very poor support that become very noticeable on a long drive; too much play in the steering wheel which at high speeds can be a bit dangerous since there can be an abrupt jerk of the wheel; and a transmission that doesnt always know when to shift. As a previous owner of Mercedes, BMW and Lexus, I will surely think twice about owning a Hyundai again.

Hello, DONT BOTHER WITH THESE CROOKS, looking into my options for a court case as we speak. FIRST I bought my car in 2016. Everything was great in that aspect, my salesman Ron was very nice, friendly, down to earth and not fake. I left happy, I loved my car at the time. I went to the bank for a different reason, paperwork in hand because I was going into work right after that. One of the loan officers said, Hey you bought a new car. Congrats. You mind if I take a look at that paperwork, I said, Sure no problem.. Well well. Long story short she seen that they snuck in a $2000 warranty that I DID NOT agree too. We all know Hyundai has the best warranty around. 100,000 miles or 10 years which ever comes first. She also seen my rate was way too high. She fixed that as well. She also saved me almost $200 a month on my payment a year off the loan.Fast forward to today. I just got my title in. Ive paid off my car this year. Title says 3,229 miles on instead of 9 miles like it was when I bought it. Also says USED when it was brand new off the showroom floor. I have a picture of the odometer the day I bought it and left with it where it says 9 MILES!! not 3, 229 miles. I now do some research and see this is something they do all the time, sell people LOANERS and or RENTALS and say that they are brand new. Plop them on the showroom floor and screw over people right and left. Not me. Im not letting this go. NO way NO how! I work hard for my money and I will not be fooled by some car salesman prick in a Walmart suit. Thank god I took pictures of that odometer. Thank god!I called today and spoke to a DJ who actually said I looked up your paperwork and **. REALLY BRO? Ok. Tells me I knew I bought a loaner. I said, A what? You know a rental car? The hell I did. Joe and Ron never disclosed to me my car was a rental just like they didnt tell me about the extra warranty they threw in I didnt ask for.. Empire if your reading this... Ill be in touch...dont worry.

I leased a Genesis (2016) on 1/1/16. It had numerous electrical problems. The main problem was the dash display would malfunction. It would be blacked out completely, when driving or backing up. Sometimes it would stay on after the car turned off and locked. Other issues: All lights go out in the interior and headlights while driving at night. * Drivers side window would only go up 1 inch or down 1 inch at a time randomly. ** Battery discharge error randomly goes off every 30 seconds. ** Strange sound in back right of car, possible gear malfunction. ** Dash display malfunction. *** Possibly fixed. Did not happen again while I owned the car. ** Never fixed. Could not find the problem or never fixed. I had to file a BBB case under the lemon law of North Carolina. Hyundai fought me the whole way and lost. They had to buy back this car. Communication is horrific with their Consumer Affairs department. They did pay most of my case but still owe me money. Ridiculous I have to keep calling them. They never return my phone calls. Ill never buy a Hyundai again personally. I also plan on sharing my message with anyone so at least they heard my truth before you bought a Hyundai. Just so all know this message is 100% truth and 0% embellishment. I have never, in my life, been treated so rudely. Their customer service rep hung up on me. I thought she had all the information that she needed and gone to find out. The next day when I was expecting my paperwork to be where it was supposed to, it was not. So when I called back the next day, upset that my paperwork had not been transferred, the rep on the phone was once again rude. The rep promised my paperwork would be there in 1-2 hours, and it was never done on time. Not only is this now costing me money, but I was treated horribly as well. And with an interest payment of 20% on a car, they should invest money in training their reps.

Recently I was informed by my local Hyundai dealership that the battery on my 2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid needed replaced. Not the hybrid battery. I was told it was $312.00 for the battery through the dealership. I said thanks but Ill go elsewhere. After 3 weeks of looking and calling around Ive been informed that the battery can only be purchased from a dealer. I decided to call Hyundai customer service to find out why. There is no reason other than, Because thats the way it is and because we can. What?? Really??That is how the conversation went. I asked to speak to someone who could answer me why and was told that, Everyone else will give you the same answer, the way it is and because we can. What kind of crazy monopoly is this. Any other year Sonata battery can be purchased elsewhere. They are unwilling to explain why, they are unwilling to require the dealership to sell the part at a reasonable price, nothing. No help, no explanation, no concern or consideration. I have really liked owning my Hyundai until now. I recently paid it off and now its having issues creep up that require attention only at the dealership. Interesting, frustrating and suspicious. Might very well be the last Hyundai I ever own.

My 2011 Hyundai Sonata died on me last night while driving home on the 210 Fwy without any warning whatsoever. AAA towed it to Parkway Hyundai in Valencia, CA. I received a call today from the dealership telling me I need a new engine. Although my car has 150,000 miles on it, they are mostly easy highway miles and I have not had any mechanical issues up to now. I regularly have maintenance done to the vehicle. I am furious after reading numerous complaints from other 2011 Hyundai Sonata owners with the same problem and Hyundai not accepting any responsibility.

New Hyundai Santa Fe GLS FWD - Vehicle is difficult to control while passing and under heavy acceleration 35-60mph. Goes through a series of S turns and pulls hard right and then back left. Fwd axle torque is severe and dangerous to an inexperienced driver... You better be ready to steer or ease off throttle, almost pulled me into back wheels of 18 wheeler trailer while passing.

I have a santa fe sport and sonata purchased within 1 year of each other. There have been several warranty issues on both cars. The company is horrible to deal with. MOst recently I called the company because of the issues I had with the dealership and they were no help because the dealerships are all independent, but the next closest dealership is over 1 hour away and you have to go to a dealer for warranty issues. When I spoke to their customer service about rental reimbursement for warranty issues, they said they do that, but dont guarantee (since it may not be a warranty issue and they dont know for sure until the car is fixed). I asked if there was a certain type of car I needed to rent and they said no and said it would be ok to get something similar to the car I own and that would be considered when issuing reimbursement. So I got a mid size SVU rental because I have a santa fe sport and then they would only reimburse about half of what I paid. If they would have been up front with me and said, the max we reimburse is $** then I would have tried to find a cheaper rental. So my warranty repair cost me over $200 in rental fees.

I purchased a 2021 Hyundai Kona in November of 2020. With less than 14,000 miles, it had to be towed due to a broken transfer case (manufacturer error). Hyundai refused to reimburse me for the $275 tow as a result of their poorly made car part which resulted in the tow. I would not choose this vehicle and will not be purchasing another in the future.

I have a 2012 Hyundai Sonata and Ive taken my car to a Hyundai dealership over 6 times. My car started stalling and just shutting down while driving it. Lights in the dash start lighting up and my back lights work sometimes. I keep buying headlights and brake lights. Right today my car is fixed because the dealership said they couldnt find anything wrong with my car. They gave me a loaner car and kept my car for about a month but did nothing to it. I also complained to them that my valves was tapping, but they said its how the car suppose to sound. Its just so much going on with my car but Hyundai dealership dont care about the customers. Its not right and you still owe lots of money on the car. I feel I have a lemon.

My husband is in the military. We contacted Hyundai about applying the SSRA (Soldiers & Sailors Relief Act). When they applied this they lost 5 of my payments. I spent weeks trying to get this corrected. I have been treated like a criminal, talked nasty to, and demanded I pay my past due balance. If you pulled their statements online, it showed every payment, the payment history though, disappeared. They required me to send them proof that I had made all these payments. I had to go to the bank, and stamped copies of the electronic transactions. Then, they almost didnt even accept the bank statements. Finally, after going through several people, they corrected the payments by the end of January. When they corrected my payments, we lost the SSRA. So, I called in again on 2/8/12, and spoke to a manager about the SSRA. They assured me, and promised me that this would be corrected by the weekend. Well, it is the weekend, and once again, my payments, since September, have disappeared yet once again. They are saying I owe over $2,000, and I am not even sure they got the SSRA applied correctly. David in California is the only person in the entire company they say that can apply the SSRA. Really? For a company this large? They see they are trying to reverse my payments once again. Heres a new problem, they are now showing 90 days late on our credit report, and mind you, my husband is an active military, and this could cost him his career. I have requested letters 3 times from Hyundai, that this is no fault of my own, and the matter has been corrected. It is always they dont do letters, but will forward to the correct department. I am at my wits end, and have never paid any payment late. I have worked for my credit very hard, and it is not fair that a company can just mess up your account, and you pay the price.

Actually, Ive 2 problems with my Verna 2012 car (15,000k) only. The first one is related to the dinamo; it doesnt keep any charge if I left my car for only one day! The second is that sometime when I switch off the contact, it doesnt switch off the car and I should repeat this for 3 or 4 times! This is not the first time to complain to Hyundai. Ive a problem before after 5000k, and it is solved after visiting the maintenance center 3 times! This time is the same. Eng. ** from the maintenance center (Egypt, Cairo) sees that the car has no problem at all.

Leased my third Hyundai in February, 2020 one month early because my dealer had the SUV that we wanted. Turned in 2017 Sonata and owed a total of $1,600.00 for mileage and last month. Paid 3 weeks early and they said it hasn’t been paid. I sent a copy of bank check, front and back to Hyundai finance that was cashed. I’ve called five times and they don’t know where the money was applied. It’s coming up on three months past due per Hyundai finance. My credit rating has went from 800 to 640. I’ve contacted the Better Business Bureau and the dealer. I will never buy/lease another Hyundai again. Once my lease is up, I will be returning the vehicle and leasing a different vehicle, if my credit is repaired by then. My last resort is contacting my attorney if I get nowhere with Better Business Bureau or the dealer. This has been a nightmare and I would advise staying away from Hyundai and their financial department.

This complaint is in regards to the Hyundai customer service team. I have been in contact with several associates and managers, concerning a state to state transfer of my vehicles registration since November 19th, 2021. On November 19th, 2021, I contacted the team (via (800) 523-4030) to ask the best course of action for receiving, completing and returning the required documentation for this request. I was advised to mail in the documentation, to the overnight office located at the following address: 5505 N. Cumberland Ave., Ste 307 Chicago, IL 60055-4301.The package was delivered on Nov 22, 2021 at 9:48 am and signed for by an associate. After not receiving any follow up, I contacted the team again on December 9th, 2021 to confirm delivery. No confirmation was provided and I was told they would be following up with their partners in Chicago. I followed up again on December 17th and the 27th, still no answer or record of previous conversations. On the 27th I resubmitted the state to state transfer request via email/secure message. I was referred to the escalations department and have followed up 5 times since as resent the email once. Including today. There is still no record of notes from previous conversations or requests previously sent.Today I asked for a 4th submission via secured messaging, a copy of my title and for yet another email to be sent to the titles and complaints department. None of which has taken place. I am currently paying monthly for a vehicle I cannot legally operate, due to the customer service teams blatant neglect for the last 2 months. Each time I call I have to repeat this story. Enough is enough.

I purchased a 2020 Kona. I am sure you have all read the reviews. They are true. Car has been drinking oil and I have spent over a year begging Hyundai to help. No luck. Got lied to and now cant get compensation through corporate. They actually expect me to keep driving the car and bringing it back and forth to a dealership. No, I am not a Karen, however I have dumped over 40 quarts of oil into it, spent over a year at various dealerships and even had to hire my own mechanic to tell me there really was a HUGE issue and I was being played. Now, I am down to pretty much not having a vehicle and BEGGING Hyundai to just take their car back and set me free of this in a fair deal that does not leave me broke and with nothing to drive.

I bought an Elantra car for Hyundai Des Moines dealer, actually I bought a lemon. I bought this car because its fuel efficiency as they advertise it is 28-38 mile, but in the first day I found that its mpg is 24 and it stated drop by time and after one week it become 17.5. That is unbelievable. It is like a big SUV. I contact the company and they requested to put it in service. This is not acceptable. A new car go to service in the first two weeks. The government must protect the customer from the liar car companies and we must be able to return the car if it is not as they said. Another serious issue was its tire - it has no traction on snow. I get stuck on snow 4 times. I need to change the tires and this is unacceptable too. Could anyone guide me how to return this car?
