Review: 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 redraws sedans and may topple Tesla Model 3
[BACK]

Posted On: October 4, 2022
There’s a reason—beyond sheer popularity—why so many full-line carmakers have led with crossovers as they ramp up their lineups for the electric era: Sporty midsize sedans like the Hyundai Ioniq 6 require more push and pull to look right while delivering the aerodynamic efficiency that’s so important for driving range.
To fit thick battery packs under the passenger floor means pushing up the roofline and compromising proportions to compensate, or settling for a cabin that feels more cramped. On the other hand, traditional three-box sedans are compromised in the wind tunnel; it’s why so many automakers have settled for the tall-tail “kammback” form instead, with a hatchback instead of a trunklid.
Put the two together and it’s daunting. With sedans no longer the core of the auto market, it’s less surprising why so few automakers have tackled an electric sedan.
But Hyundai has threaded the needle and ended up with something jaw-droppingly unique in the Ioniq 6. The Ioniq 6 simultaneously solves the aero issue and treads new design ground, making other sedans look antiquated.
Hyundai’s early tease of range results might be enough to convince skeptics. The Ioniq 6 will bear a WLTP range rating of up to 382 miles, according to the automaker. Based on how the Ioniq 5 crossover has fared in the EPA cycle, versus the more optimistic European WLTP, that will land it very close to the Model 3 Long Range’s 358 miles.

It’s a trendsetter, looks even better up close, and from first impressions, it suggests for the first time that there’s a car that one-ups the Tesla Model 3 in many respects. Just you wait.
One curve, many details
It would have been easy for the Ioniq 6 to mimic the best-selling Tesla Model 3, or to simply aping the Ioniq 5 hatchback that’s in ridiculously short supply. But Hyundai didn’t opt for either of those routes.
Hyundai calls the profile of the Ioniq 6 “one curve.” Side profile pics tend to show individual arcs, but in person it’s easy to figuratively lay a French curve across any portion of the car as a whole. The thing is curvy everywhere. Influences include the Stout Scarab and the Phantom Corsair, both from the 1930s; and the 1950 Saab 92; and a 1920s aviation aesthetic in this “streamliner.” Yet to anyone fluent in modern cars, it’s impossible not to see some Porsche influences in front and in back. Is that a whale tail?

Well, it’s a rear spoiler that plays a key role in the 0.21 coefficient of drag, making the Ioniq 6 Hyundai’s most aerodynamic production car ever. Modeled after the super-marine spitfire British World War II airplane, it’s one of those elements of beauty where engineering and design find the sweet spot. Don’t try removing the spoiler if you value your highway range. The aero advantages are also made possible by an active air flap at the lower front air intake, letting airflow through and around the front wheels—and, by the sound of it, a whole lot of modeling and wind-tunnel work.
On the outside, Hyundai’s so-called parametric pixel design details, the emphasis on lighting, and the slim door handles are about the only things in common with the Ioniq 5. That’s how Hyundai likes it, in an Ioniq lineup of models that will each make their own statement, including the boxy Ioniq 7 SUV that’s on the way as well.
No wasted space
The Ioniq 6 is the first sedan built from the company’s E-GMP dedicated electric vehicle platform. It’s also the first Hyundai model to offer over-the-air firmware updates for the full gamut of vehicle functions.
It rides on a 116.1-inch wheelbase and is 191.1 inches long, 74.0 inches wide, and 58.9 inches tall. In overall height, the Ioniq 5 is only about four inches taller than the Ioniq 6, but with them both at opposite sides of a garage you’d guess there’s more of a difference.
Hyundai has conceived each of the Ioniq models separately, with an emphasis on an interior “living space,” parametric pixel cues peppered throughout to unify the different looks, and sustainability in tech and materials.
2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 first drive - South Korea
According to Hyundai global design chief Simon Loasby, controlling the visual height of the car was very important. The broad arc that assures passenger space gets where it needs to be, but it starts very low in front and back.
Just as with the Ioniq 5, the dash is pushed forward more than in other vehicles, and the entire front floor space feels open and airy. Like the Tesla Model 3, there isn’t a lot of wasted space atop the dash, and from an upright driving position the hood pretty much disappears, leaving a great view ahead. Twin 12.3-inch displays stand upright in front of the driver—the one in the middle a touchscreen for infotainment, the one ahead for gauges—but they’re by no means in the way.
The skateboard platform and long wheelbase pay dividends in passenger space. The floor is flat throughout the cabin, bringing excellent leg room to the back seat, even when the front seat is back all or nearly all the way. Just don’t expect a lot of headroom; I (and anyone over six feet tall) was pressing my noggin against the headliner, requiring a hunched-forward position that would be acceptable for a trip across town but not a road trip. Up front, Hyundai adds a sturdy, two-tiered center console; it doesn’t move around like the one in the Ioniq 5, but there’s space for larger items below plus the top area is level and good for a laptop, they say.

There is a frunk, but it’s essentially a small storage bin, good for charging cables or maybe a laptop bag. The trunk isn’t very deep—just enough for grocery bags, although it’s wide and long.
Not a sport sedan but nicely balanced
Rear-wheel-drive single-motor versions of the Ioniq 6 make 225 hp and 258 lb-ft and all-wheel-drive dual-motor models make 320 hp and 446 lb-ft. Hyundai claims a 0-62-mph acceleration time of 7.4 seconds in single-motor form and 5.1 seconds in dual-motor form, although its factory acceleration times are typically conservative.
2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6
Our well-equipped dual-motor model with 20-inch wheels felt plenty quick in this world of “instant torque,” and the motors and traction system never needed the Pirelli P Zeros to scramble for grip. What would this vehicle be like with a firmer suspension and the higher-output 576-hp dual-motor layout of the Kia EV6? While exact horsepower figures are still TBA, that vehicle is in the works as the Ioniq 6 N. It’s one to look forward to, given the Ioniq 6’s lower, more planted feel.
The Ioniq 6 is by no means firmly tuned. We’d call it a scosche firmer than the 5, but since you’re lower you don’t feel the roll as much. Steering feel is light and easy, and it returns to center well. It’s at its best in tighter corners, where it weights up nicely, but it could use a little more precision in how it unwinds out of them. Versus the Ioniq 5 and pretty much the whole cohort of electric crossovers, you sit more in the car rather than on it—and that makes a huge difference in perception as you corner quickly and enjoy driving.
The 6 gets hydraulic bushings in back to help soak up road harshness, as well as frequency-sensitive shocks with variable flow paths, to allow them to react differently to varied inputs. The integrated drive axle has a hub-integrated outboard joint to help aid stiffness. The Ioniq 6 also uses low-noise tires, a carpet/floor that’s decoupled from the structure, and various sound-absorbing materials. Acoustic glass is used for the windshield and front and side door glass, and smooth shielding keeps the underbody free of turbulence.

Four levels of regenerative braking, all steering-wheel paddle-selected, plus smoothly blended brakes make it easy to find the best experience for each driver. An Auto Hold mode simply toggles on and off with its own button, allowing drivers to give the brake pedal a rest in traffic as desired. Hyundai also provides Eco, Normal, Sport, and Snow modes, as with the Ioniq 5, but new to the Ioniq 6 is an EV Tune-up feature that allows the owner to tweak more of the settings individually—including steering, acceleration sensitivity, and horsepower.
As I tested the Ioniq 6, it likely has a curb weight of around 4,500 lb, which is several hundred pounds heavier than the Model 3 Long Range.
Tech, some of it inbound
My test car—actually, all the test cars—had a tech item that won’t come to the U.S.: camera-based side rearview mirrors. With screens mounted at the edge of the dash, on wings that extended upward from it. The setup gives drivers a wider angle of view than standard rearview mirrors. I found it a lot easier to get used to than the screen-based center rearview mirrors offered in a few U.S. models. My only caveat is the boxy execution of the camera unit on the outside; it didn’t fit in with the rest of the coordinated, super-aero design. We’ll take our standard mirrors and grin, thank you.
2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 first drive - South Korea
The Ioniq 6’s 800-volt charging capability means that, like the 5, it will be able to take advantage of 350-kw DC fast-charging stations, getting either of its battery packs from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes. Both a heat pump and battery heating system are included, as is a new preconditioning system that should make peak charge rates easier to access in chillier weather.
With its 11-kw onboard charger, the Ioniq 6 can get a full charge in about six hours for the Standard pack or about eight hours with the Long Range pack—eight and 12 hours, respectively, with more common 7.0-kw garage wallboxes. It comes ready for bidirectional charging and will feature a similar Vehicle to Load (V2L) connector allowing owners to power appliances or camping equipment, or to slow-charge another EV.
2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6
Hyundai hasn’t provided much guidance on the base price of the Ioniq 6, which will arrive in early 2023 for North America, after a rollout in Korea this fall. But to combine a few hints from company officials, we expect it to start slightly lower than the Ioniq 5 but top out somewhat higher in its top-performance Ioniq 6 N form. Think $40,000 to $65,000, approximately. This isn’t going to be an expansive luxury car, but it feels like it.
Most importantly, the arrival of the Ioniq 6 will finally provide competition for the Model 3. Provided Hyundai builds enough of these, we’re eager to see how this rivalry plays out.

Very durable vehicle that lots of extra perks like electric seats, blind spot mirror, Bluetooth and back up camera. I have owned this Hyundai Tucson for a year and have not had a single problem with it.

I purchased the car late Sept 2015 and as of Feb 2016 have had issues with the idle, shaking at a complete stop and not getting the mileage advertised. I spoke to the dealership and Hyundai corporate and was told that no resolution is available at this time that when a resolution is available they would contact me. Am I just suppose to keep throwing my money away putting gas in this car and making my payments when its not even running appropriately?

I traded in my 2013 Kia Optima SXL for a 2015 Kia Optima SXL. I used the $5850 left after my payoff as my downpayment on a lease. I was in a horrible crash two weeks after and the car had 586 miles on it and it was totaled. My insurance said the car is so new they werent depreciating it, but Hyundai only says I will get back $3986.45 so I now have to lose part of my downpayment. My insurance handled this in a week and I have to pay out of my pocket because Hyundai says it will take about a minute to give me what Im due back! They have their money right away. Gap insurance obviously isnt worth it if the car is new.

Hyundai Palisade vehicles (2020-21) have a defect with a windshield causing them to crack from minimal impact and sometimes no impact at all. There are many reports of this all over the web. Hyundai however is refusing any assistance to consumers and denying that there is any issue at all. My windshield cracked and had to be replaced when the car had just 500 and it didnt even get hit. It was a detail shop getting cleaned, etc.. Hyundai should step and start taking responsibility plus reimbursing owners who already needed to have their windshields replaced and also offer free replacements for OEM glass going forward for many reasons:1. Hyundai and Kia are related companies. Palisade and Telluride are related vehicles. Telluride has exactly same complaints regarding the windshield and Kia sent letters to all the owners saying this issue is being looked into and in the meantime offering free replacement and/or reimbursement if the windshield has to be replaced. Why isnt Hyundai doing the same?2. Almost every single complaint on the NHTSA website is about the windshield. There are over 85. This is not a coincidence! See: **3. I am sure you are also aware that there is a class action lawsuit about this same windshield issue. Again not a coincidence. There is a reason why there is a lawsuit.Hyundai should do the RIGHT thing just like KIA is doing and reimburse owners for windshield replacements especially when they are cracking WITHOUT even being hit by anything. That is a defect in your product!

The 2012 Hyundai Sonata is pretty and stylish inside and out. I bought the Limited Trim with all the bells and whistles. Problems: The steering began to tug to one side while the car was still under bumper-to-bumper warranty. We took the car several times to the dealership and they could not see anything wrong with the vehicle. I was told this behavior was within Hyundais specification and that it was normal for the vehicle. This is the first vehicle that I have owned that has this abnormal normalcy. This problem has not gone away. Vibration. I cannot tell you enough how irritated I have been with this vibration. Once you go over a certain speed (Im not sure at the moment, but Im not talking of highway speed - just normal in-town speed), the car begins to vibrate. Ive gone to the dealership over and over and over. I am tired and angry that a brand new 2012 car will behave this way and the people at the dealership cant figure out what the seems to be the problem. Not too long ago, my wife and I noticed that when turning the vehicle made a certain noise as if something was about to break, as if some metal was hitting another metal. The dealership said it was a steering column problem and we had to pay out of pocket to fix it since we have put over 60,000 miles on the car. The car has gone out of bumper-to-bumper warranty. The lingering problems (listed above), I have to fix out of pocket. It will take a lot, a whole lot, for me to buy a Hyundai vehicle ever again. I loved the roominess and stylishness of the Sonata, but it seems that those are about all it has. I am very disappointed in this vehicle to say the least. My 2009 Chrysler 300C never gave me these troubles.

I purchased my new Sonata Hybrid in April 2015. I want to complain about the front shroud or fairing. The clearance of the fairing to regular parking block is 0 inches. These are standard parking blocks, that a car has to pull up to in any parking space. My front fairing has now been severely damaged and is hanging off the car because the clearance does not match the standard height for a parking block. I want to know why I have this expensive repair because of poor design of the front end. If I repair the damage, the next block will, of course, rip the new one off too!!! Parking away from the block creates a safety hazard to me and other cars and drivers in a parking lot because of improper parking space allocations.Safe parking is part of safe operation of my vehicle, and I can be fined because of improper parking in a designated space. The tires are the original factory ones, so the profile should be Hyundais responsibility of design. I want to know what you (Hyundai) suggests to do to fix this design problem for now and the future of my expensive hybrid car???

I have a 2012 Genesis Coupe 3.8 loaded.. leather interior, etc... The car is only 2.5 years old. The back seat leather started to fade about a year after I bought the car. The front seats started to fade and rip about the same time. I had to give the service dept. bad rating in order to get their attention. They agreed to repair the back seats but refuse to repair the front seats. Im the only one in the car 95% of the time. Ive owned many cars with leather interior. Ive NEVER had such experience where the interior quality is so poor that it falls apart on its own. Im so frustrated with them that Im ready to trade the car in and get something else. This car has been sub-standard in quality and overall value. I would recommend that you stay away from this make until they cleanup their act. Very disappointed.

I lost the headlight retaining clip somewhere in the engine compartment. I then had to pay over $300 for an entire headlight assembly, since Hyundai does not sell the clip as a separate part. After reading some of other complaints, this does not now surprise me.

I have a 2017 Hyundai Tucson that I purchased brand new, had about 15 miles on it when I drove it off the lot. It was ok for the first almost 4 years I had it. This year in March my car got towed into Hyundai on Industrial Hwy, East York PA because it wouldnt DRIVE with my children in the car. My oil light was on, my fiancé is very, very good at keeping up with oil changes and checking this POS car. For the last year it had been leaking oil. It was never a lot but no car should ever leak oil. So Hyundai calls and tells me that my 4 year old car needs a new engine and that I have to prove where I got my oil changes because it was under warranty still (THANK GOD). So we did all of that and got a new engine in and didnt get my car back until July 2021. Ok so its now November 11, 2021 (FOUR months later) and my car is leaking oil not a little but a lot of oil and its not driving right. SO PLEASE PLEASE save yourself the ** and never ever ever buy a Hyundai. These cars should be taken off the market!!!!

My daughter purchased a certified pre owned 2013 Sonata limited turbo. She took it to have regular maintenance, so she took good care of the car. On February 2017 she was driving down the road when she heard a noise from under the hood, so her friend told her to pull over so he could check it out, when he lifted up the hood there was a red glow. He immediately told her to get out of the car. Within an minute her car was engulfed in flames. The car burnt so bad, all that was left was the trunk of the car. Had he not told her to pull over my daughter and her friend would have died in that car.She notified Hyundai about this. For one because it was still under warranty and two her car burnt to the ground for no reason out of nowhere. They took about 2 months to get back to her and when they did they only offered her what they call fair market value, which was way lower than what she paid for the car. With what they offered she couldnt even touch the kind of car she had and is still making payments on. They were rude and the one guy hung up on me when I got upset with his attitude. We have called repeatedly trying to talk to someone in charge but to no avail. We have heard from a friend of hers that someone on Facebook has had their car go up in flames also. Hyundai does not stand by their product and they also have the worse customer relations that I have ever experienced. Never ever would I recommend buying a Hyundai car.

I have a 2013 Sonata and I have to say the service has been terrible. The service staff is always rude and they do not honor warranty or recalls (always blaming the customer). I had the pleasure of witnessing the service provided to a friend by Volkswagen and was floored at the concern, the detail, and the prompt repair.

Anyone who has a 2012 Hyundai Elantra please have your coil springs checked. I could have been killed today has I been on the autoroute instead on the service road. The coil spring on the front driver side snapped, blew out my tire and Hyundai only has a recall on the 2011 Elantra. It is not normal for a vehicle with 59,000 km have this issue unless there was a factory defect. I cant stress enough the importance to have the coils checked and if there is an issue make a complaint to Hyundai Canada, Transport Canada and whichever consumer protection agency in your area. Im going to fight this one with Hyundai and post to every social media site possible. This is a very dangerous issue.

I have the car since 2012 and have never had a problem except for a battery but that was to be expected. I looked for a long time and checked out many dealerships to make sure I was getting exactly what I wanted. All cars should have back up camera standard. I like the warranty. My SUV is covered bumper to bumper for 100000 miles or 10 yrs whichever comes first. This is why I bought this vehicle so that I should not have any problems. I wanted to make this the last vehicle I buy and so far it is small yet has plenty of room for boxes, my dogs and even people. It seats five people comfortable. I love it.

I loved my Hyundai Sonata for the first couple of years. Had a couple of minor issues, but nothing major. After that, things started to go wrong - full throttle pump had to be replaced ($1000) dollars. Last week I hit 100,000 miles on my car. Then the next day the check engine light went on. Took it to the mechanic and they said it was something with the oil pump. They cleaned it, did an oil change, light went off. Next day, light came back on. Took it back, they replaced the part and when they took it for a test drive, the engine began seizing up. They told me it needed a new engine. Had it towed to dealership. They also said it needed a new engine. They told me that since it was over warranty, there would be no coverage. They informed me that the goodwill warranty determination would have to come from Hyundai manufacturing. Hyundai manufacturing told me it was determined by the dealership. I called the dealership again and they sent me back to Hyundai manufacturing.

Had a break down at 1930 hrs... Even after repeated complaints didnt get any assistance to my car Whole night... and the dealers were so rude and blunt to ask for any help...In spite of repeated calls there were no help to me. At last they wash away their hands after giving me one number... which nobody picked up. As a result there were no help from Hyundai and I had to struggle with the local dealers for help...

Although a 6 speed manual, 2 door car might not be everyones cup of tea, I really like this 3.8 L/350 HP coupe. It runs very easily in traffic and has plenty of capability when given a clear road to play on. I have had no significant complaints in the 42,000 miles I have driven it and Hyundai have covered every little issue that I have had. Warranty and service are great but gas consumption isnt!

Hyundai Motor Finance is not an easy company to work with. We bought our Hyundai and the dealership had superb customer service. Those customer service expectations are obviously not universal when dealing with other entities of Hyundai. We pay our car payments on time every month. The online system did not process our online payment last month even though I got a confirmation number. Hyundai waited 3 weeks before notifying us that they had not received payment. I went online again and paid the payment. I followed up the next morning to verify payment was received. The customer service agent said it had not been. I went online and paid it again per her suggestion. Five days later, Hyundai takes out two payments for the same amount from my checking account. When asked if they could refund, they told me I had to get a letter from the bank, show transaction history, and wait roughly 7 days until the check was cut and sent to me. They can draft accounts but not credit them. I asked if they were going to take care of my late fees. The supervisor said she needed to review the past 3 calls that I had with Hyundai over the last 2 weeks to determine. It may take a few days for someone to get back to me. My complaint is that the customer service reps that I spoke with each time told me different information, and Hyundai does not believe the customer is always right; they believe they are right until proven otherwise, which penalizes the customer. Do not work with Hyundai Motor Finance. They have cost me fees, time, and money from missing hours at work, from having to chase down letters from the bank, only accepting faxed info, not email info and not being able to handle concerns over the phone. All complaints must be in writing.

We had a Santa Fe and loved it but was looking for something newer for our retirement vehicle. The new Santa Fe was bigger and didnt want a bigger vehicle. We drove the newer Tucson and loved it and bought it the same day. It fit all our needs and been so happy with it. The staff is friendly and when we bought it, it was 0% interest for 9 years which we plan to pay off way by then. This is one satisfied customer.
I purchased my 2013 Hyundai Elantra a few months ago with a remote car star
I purchased my 2013 Hyundai Elantra a few months ago with a remote car starter. I have had remote starters on my two previous vehicles. A remote car starter is a one-touch convenience which I depend upon specifically during the winter. The remote car starter was installed and when I picked up my new car, I was advised that in order to start the car with the remote, I must first press the lock button twice (lights will flash and horn will toot), and then press and hold the starter button. The remote is supposed to function within a range of 2500 feet. This is not a convenience. I have been able to start the car only a few times with the remote since then. Most times it does not start. If I am not close enough to the vehicle to see the lights flash or hear the horn toot, I have no idea whether it can actually be started. On occasion, I have even stood beside the car and tried to start it and nothing happens. This is absolutely ridiculous. I stopped by the dealership today and asked about having it removed. I was advised that it would cost me over $300 to have this done. Hyundai Canada has echoed this. I am furious. I want this starter removed and would have a simple one touch remote starter installed. This Hyundai remote starter is an expensive waste of my hard earned money. If I had known that this inconvenient type of remote starters was what they were installing, I would not have requested it.

Lots of PEPS, cool styling, 5 star rated for survivability. What more could you ask. This is a 2017. My previous Tucson had over 224,000 miles when I traded in. I am 62. My older son is 62 1/2. My youngest so is 63. We all fit and ride comfortably. I live in Arizona and i actually get cold from the AC. Even when it is 115 degrees outside.

Hyundai Financing has to be one of the most incompetent companies Ive ever dealt with. We leased which we will NEVER do again and then we were buying a house. In order for us to get the FHA loan, we had to sell the car to get it out of my name EVEN though my company was paying for it. We had my mom get a loan and buy it from Hyundai Leasing. We mailed the check overnight. I waited two days and then started calling to make sure they received it. After 5 DAYS of calling constantly and talking to a different person in their call center every time, we finally got a document saying that the loan was paid in full and the balance was zero. The call center is not located where the check was and neither was the supervisors who are actually located in a complete different location as well. No one knew exactly where the check was. I had to contact FedEx to show that it had been delivered. I had supervisors making promises that they would send us a document of closure but never did. I have never been so ticked with a company before! Then we get a letter stating that the current credit union that is providing us with the loan has not received the title yet. Its been 4 weeks since the check was received and applied! I just called them and they said that they had not received the odometer disclosure statement. What the?!! Did anyone tell us about that document?! OF COURSE NOT! I love my car but I will never finance a car through them and I may never buy another one from Hyundai.

My air bag light came on Thursday, 2/16/2012. I took the car to the dealer to find out if it was a fuse or something. They tell me I must replace the air bag for $1800.00 for the light to go off. Are you kidding me? Seriously? I know there must be a recall on the airbag (2005 Sonata). Im not the only one. Does anyone know of a recall for that year? Im being stumped.

My husband was in a serious automobile accident and passed away because of the injuries in October. He leased a Genesis and the lease was up in October. When I turned in the car I ended up owing over 2500 because of mileage overage fees. I had wrote the CEO of Hyundai and the President of Hyundai finance to waive the fees. We incurred the overage charges because we had to go see my critically injured husband in the hospital and drove over 100 miles each day. They would not waive the fees and submitted the fees to collection which lowered my credit score. I have incurred medical expenses due to my husband death and had to sell my home. I am unable to get an apartment thanks to Hyundai. My credit score was lowered and I did not qualify. I did pay this bill in full and I still had my credit score lowered. I will never buy another Hyundai again. My husband and I did love our cars but I was just blown away with how heartless these people are. We have leased two cars from Hyundai and I bought my car. They clearly got quite a bit of money from us already but they did not have the heart to help out a widow who had medical bills and is just trying to survive. In fact I am trying to figure out where I am going to live right now. I had a friend who also lost her husband and the car dealer waived the overage fees. It was not Hyundai. I wish I bought my car from another dealership. Heartless, Heartless, Heartless and Greedy.

I own a Tucson ix35, I am very happy with the car to the point that I wanted to change my old one for a new Tucson. My disappointment started after I took it to the shop because of a hesitation problem. It was a Friday, at first I was attended adequately. They asked my phone to call me the next day (Saturday) to inform me what the car needed to solve the problem. They never called me until I showed up on Monday in the shop to see what the problem was. They have not even touched the car and they were surprised to see me there, at 3:00 p.m. I received a call telling me that the price was approximately 360 u.s.d because they did not know if other parts were faulty, showing that they have not checked the car professionally and technically to what I said to suspend the work. When I appeared to take my car, the person in charge tried to give me a not convincing explanation for the delay with a not very friendly attitude. After he was asked about report a serious shop is supposed to give the customers before delivering the car, the guy said Do you know what a check up is? and urged me to pay 39 u.s.d. My son was about to react but I signaled to calm down. I did not say a word, paid the bill and left the shop. The car was as dirty as I left (I do not know if they do not have any more the policy of delivering a clean car or simply the 39 dollars I paid are not worth it). Anyways the summary is: I as a customer feel mistreated and I am seriously reconsidering the possibility to buy another Hyundai. Take this information of my bad experience to try to improve the quality of the service. My best regards.

2013 Veloster, still under bumper to bumper warranty. The windshield had distortion, it was warranty replaced. Only to have another distorted windshield installed. Now they say all like that and will not replace it with one that is clear for viewing. ALSO the exhaust tailpipe is caked with dark greasy soot and needs constant cleaning. Clear evidence of a non-functional emissions system. I asked if it failed an EPA emissions test would they fix it... Hyundai dealer in Rockford Ill said NO not unless it shows a check engine light. Well turns out Hyundai was sued by the EPA around 2012 for not meeting emission standards. Looks like another lawsuit is needed. Hyundai Warranty and support is a joke.

We have owned a 2003 Hyundai XG350 since new. It now has less than 30,000 miles on it and we recently noticed that the airbag light was on and it needs an inspection sticker. We were told that the airbag issue would have to be repaired before the car would pass inspection. The service manager (Frank) told us that he has seen several of these problems in the XGs and that to repair it properly, it would require a new wiring harness for around $500. I commented to him that this sounds like an engineering defect on Hyundais part, and that they should repair this at their cost. Hyundai refused.

I purchased Hyundai Elite i20 in CHANDRA HYUNDAI (City - Coimbatore, state - Tamil Nadu country - India) at 27th Oct 2017, Almost 2 years are crossed right now. Current running KM - 9670/- Less kilometer only used. Two weeks back all of a sudden push button stopped working. So I reached out top Chandra Hyundai (Avinashi road branch) for service regarding this issue at 23/12/2019. Almost 13 days are over still I didnt get any clear information about this issue (Initially the team said battery issue, then self start motor may issue and finally ECM). Now they are saying I have to pay 70,000/- (Seventy thousand rupees ) to replace the part to solve this issue. The car even got fully serviced 1 months ago. This is really disappointing experience with Chandra Hyundai. I really disappointed for this issue even 10,000 kilometer not yet crossed but having this issue. I request them to claim but they are not responsible. I wont suggest Hyundai to anyone. Waste of time and money to approach with Hyundai.

My vehicle is a 2009 Atos. It is still under warranty. I waited approximately five months for a reverse light switch to be replaced; the brakes have been skimmed twice in this time due to a brake shudder. When asked if this was normal, I was told that replacing the brakes would be very expensive and that they would find out. I dealt with Lisa and Tamryn as well as other workshop staff including the w/shop manager, and they indicated that they would find out if the brake situation was normal. They still have not come back to me in this regard -- it was two weeks ago. My vehicle went in for rust removal. Since I got it back, there has been wind whistle through the windows. When I received the customer service call after the service inquiring if I was satisfied with everything, I indicated that I was not and explained in terms of the wind whistle. I still have not had any response from anyone at this dealership.
I purchased two years ago a 2011 Hyundai Sonata Limited certified used from
I purchased two years ago a 2011 Hyundai Sonata Limited certified used from a local Hyundai dealership in Waterloo iowa. At the time had done it to replaced another Sonata that had electrical issues. Last September I was made aware via the Internet that my car had a major recall with the motor. At the time, I thought about trading the car in, but no dealership would touch the car because had a knocking noise which lower value of the car. So fast forward today, I eventually had the engine replace. When I picked up my car the dealership they not only replaced the engine but done the recalled for the brake stopper pad. Soon after my current nightmare started. The motor sound like it was whistling sound every time I drove it. At first I thought it was because it was braking in so I didnt let it worry me. Then a few months later it stop this when the knocking sound came back. Also car didnt want to shift right and one time it would not start at all. Last straw was the check engine light came on and stay on. I had taken the car into a local repair shop who put it on the computer. This is when he informed me that three of the four valves were gone. That should not happen if a complete engine was replaced. So I contact Hyundai to informed them that my engine was gone again and they need to buy back this piece of junk. They took their sweet you known what time to respond to my request or even find another solution to my problem. They cant be trusted. I should mention, on September 27 about 400 pm CST I almost in serious car accident with this piece of junk. As I pulled into the parking lot of daughters dance studio, I had applied my brakes. Was putting the car into park, when the car suddenly speed up and jump the curb coming within inches hitting the building. I was completely in shock when it happen. So, asked if she seen me put my foot brake on the brake. She told me yes.So right away I called Hyundai about this event and got told have my car tow to a local Hyundai dealership which would had been the one who had done the original recall work. I done it as told and when I did not hear back from Hyundai or the dealership where the car was tow to, I got a big song and dance from them that it went to some regional Manager I should hear back soon. As of yesterday did not hear back from them, so I had my car tow outed the dealerships parking lot and sent to another reliable automotive repair shop to have the car inspect for engine damage and the brakes fix.I was lucky I had not been killed driving this piece of junk. I am now 10,000 dollars under water with this car, and cant even drive it. My advice to all who are thinking about buying a certified used Hyundai Sonatas or any other hyundai product that matter is dont. You will get burn and hurt. Take it from me. They make a beautiful product for great value, but being cheap is the being not worth at the end.

Have had enormous trouble with the 2018 Tucson SEL Plus that I leased recently. The transmission cant seem to pick a gear, and the car constantly freezes/stalls when between gears, which is pretty much all the time. My concentration has to 100% focus or Im getting in a wreck. The car isnt really drivable. Took the car to a dealership - they told me thats just how the car drives. Took it up to Customer Service via the manufacturer; they declined to assist in any way without so much as having anyone look at the car. Basically, the response Ive gotten from the manufacturer is, Oh well, youre stuck with your lemon. No efforts made to assist; they cant even manage to get me into a dealership for service without a lag time. Leasing this car is one of the worst mistakes Ive ever made, and Ive driven other Tucsons before this. Hyundai does not have any interest whatsoever in standing behind their product, or customer satisfaction in any way; never, ever get a Hyundai, because if anything at all is wrong with it, youre basically on your own. The entire experience has been a nightmare, and continues to be.

End of last year Nov 2011, I decided to buy a new car for my wife. Considering the economy was not so good, we decided to find a car which has low fuel consumption in the category of 1.6 and below. After making various market survey with the explanation from salesman from various model, we decided to go for Hyundai i10 1.25. The consumption is around 18 to 22 km per litter according to the salesman and it is stated in the technical brochures 5.3/100km combine fuel consumption. Due to that, we bought the car. It was delivered to us on 21st of November 2011.On the first day of delivery when I drove the car home on the highway, the car suddenly stopped. Luckily, there was no car behind me. I started the car again and drove it and it has no power. Due to it is near by my house about 4 km, I decided to drive slowly back home and call for Hyundai technical people to take back the car. About half a day, the Hyundai tow car came and picked the car for repair. After about two days, the car was delivered back to me. I drove the car and it looked okay. The next day, I gave it to my wife to use it. About two weeks, my wife drove the car. She relished that the fuel consumption was very high. I took the car and make an official complaint to Hyundai. They check my vehicles and told me that it is not a problem. They also tell me that to send for the first service at 1,000 km.On 7th December 2011, I sent my car to Hyundai for the first service. I also complain about fuel consumption. After the service, I start recording the fuel consumption. From my reading and record, the fuel consumption at average is about 11.5km per litter. On 8 Jan 2012, I make another official complaint and Hyundai do a testing again and they said there is no problem. The technical guy said the fuel consumption is about 14km per litter. It is contradictory with the salesman and technical brochures as mentioned earlier. In this case, we feel that we being cheated by the Hyundai when the technical guy said it is about 14km per litter. The worst is the real consumption according to speedometer and my record, it is on average of 11.5km per litter.I made another official complaint on 30th of January 2012 during my second service. They made another try and said that it is okay about 14km per liter. I told them that I cannot get that mileage. They cannot explain to me further. I made another official complaint on 4th March 2012 and left the car for two weeks until 22nd March 2012 for them to check and give me the result. Unfortunately, when I received the car on 22nd March 2012, they did not make an attempt to check it until the last day they delivered to me, still cannot tell me the problem. I feel that Hyundai has cheated me.On 26th of March, I made another official complaint about it but until today, they did not contact me. For information, I have given the record and data of refueling and mileage reading to them. I do not know if they are interested to rectify the problem or they could not care less about it.

I was driving along a straight road 4 weeks ago when there was a sharp crack. A hairline crack appeared down the plastic decal of the climate control system and the audio system. When I took the car to the dealer they stated that it was a scratch and not a crack and the manufacturers have refused to repair it under the Warranty (there is a 5 year Warranty on this car). I am a 74 year old lady so there are no children in this car to cause a scratch - it is very definitely a crack, but the dealer says it is not. I feel as if I am now in limbo with this.

Ive procured an IX35 approx. a month ago from the Hyundai branch in Umhlanga, Durban, before I took delivery, there was a number of issues with the vehicle. The salesman promised that all issues relating to damaged drivers seat, back tail light, no door clips, etc. will be attended to. We agreed in writing that they will be resolved within 3 days. This never materialized. My numerous attempts to the dealership was ignored. I am also awaiting the registration of the vehicle which is also currently not done. I am at my wits trying to explain myself to the Sales manager and the salesman. The recent recommendation from the Sales Manager in writing that I must return the vehicle. I am comfortable with this and I kept asking for the last week now, when the deposit of 90 thousand rands will be refunded and the vehicle returned. I now hear today from the Sales manager that he will attempt to resolve the issues. I am now extremely frustrated and require that this matter receives urgent attention.
The battery in my leased 2015 Hyundai Sonata wont hold its charge. Purchase
The battery in my leased 2015 Hyundai Sonata wont hold its charge. Purchased in October of 2015 about 8000 miles and about six months into the lease the vehicle failed to start repeatedly. This went on through September of 2016 with the vehicle having to be towed to the Dealerships shop approximately every few weeks to every two months... I grew increasingly frustrated and angry about the Dealerships inability to identify the problem. Eventually I filed a lemon lawsuit against Hyundai Motors and a small settlement was paid in December of 2016. The vehicle had just come out of the shop 9/26/16 (11 days) before! I breathed a sigh of relief when for over six weeks the vehicle continued to start (it appeared that the problem had actually been resolved). THEN on the morning of 1/17 of this year when I got in the car to drive to work it failed to start... it was in the shop through 1/30... again on 3/18 and has been in the shop since then while the Dealership continues to labor over the origin of the malfunction (which even Hyundai engineers have not been able to figure out). I am grateful that the Dealership has worked diligently to make sure that at least I am given a renter or loaner vehicle. I am no longer going back and forth having the car towed to the Dealership shop. I insisted that I be allowed keep the loaner until Hyundai Motors buys the car back from me. Fortunately, the Service Manager has been very sympathetic to my circumstance and hardship and has agreed to allow me to drive their loaner (a 2017 Sonata). Unfortunately, I have not had the same experience with the Manufacturer Hyundai. Eight days after my initial contact with them (3/20) I am told that I must communicate with their legal division through an attorney... I am just livid!!! The Consumer Affairs Division of Hyundai Motors fails to provide accurate and timely important information, fails to return call as promised, and is extremely negligent in the instance of documenting the details of the Ticket the department creates. NOW... I am forced to communicate with an attorney for a second time. In the meantime the monthly payments for the lease of this vehicle are still due...BUT I AM NOT DRIVING IT BECAUSE IT IS IN THE REPAIR SHOP!!! I will update this file as my situation continues to unfold.

My experience with this company since 2014 until now has been positive. Now this company has disappointed me greatly. One month ago I was told I could defer my car payments for up to 3 months. Two customer service agents informed me of this offer being available because of the COVID 19 outbreak and the job loss it caused. POLICY CHANGE PER HYUNDAI CORPORATE!! As of May 31, 2020 this policy has been changed without notice and definitely without consideration to millions of people still out of work. Hyundai Finance and Hyundai Customer Service will not defer any payments past May 31, 2020. If you call Assurance, they only help people who have loss their job not people on furlough. A billion dollar company just spit in their consumers faces.

I recently and painfully purchased a new elantra limited. Painfully, because of all the runaround I encountered and despite having researched extensively, still having gotten screwed financially. Dont look for any fairness at Hyundai in Pittsburgh, cause they wear you out with the run around, even if youre trading in a Hyundai sonata that was supposed to keep its value. The sale price for the car may be $21000, but it ended up costing me over $25000 with a trade in. And should I be upset about having blowout flat tire at 533miles, especially when both Hyundai and the tire manufacturer Hankook both deny the defectiveness of their cheap tires? It appears that since Hyundai is dependent on the dealerships to sell their cars, they are Willing to give them some slack on dishonoring the warranties, including on their defective tires. Defective tires can lead to accidents and death! I suppose it will take a certain amount of death to occur before Hyundai takes some action like GM had to. I thought Hyundai was better than that, but apparently not!

Wondering if anyone with a 2012 Hyundai Sonata has noticed a ring around the sunroof on the inside lining? I am afraid it is mold. Dealer said mold wont grow on the liner. Anyone else experiencing this? I have the car in the shop right now awaiting a pressure test that I am being charged for to find if there is a leak. If there is a leak... guess what? It is not covered under warranty. The warranty for the sunroof runs out at 1 year, 12k miles. Nice, huh?

I have been a customer of Hyundai for over 5 years, I recently had a bad oil leak on my IX20 which I had bought from new. They explained that the repair would be done under warranty and that a courtesy car would be provided. Unfortunately thats where the problems started. Hyundai courtesy car insurance only cover people between the age of 21 to 69 so it was suggested that I add the courtesy car to my insurance but when I contacted my insurance company that told me that they could not insure a car that is already insured. My car will take three days to repair. The suggestion given by my insurance company and the Hyundai dealer is that I hire a car to cover the 3 days. It seems Im being penalised for a Hyundai manufacturing failure.

Respected Sir. I am one of your customer Sandeep **. I am working with **. As in service class I had dream of buying Hyundai I10. On 1st Dec 2010, finally I manage to purchase I10. On 3rd Sept, I met with an accident and there was some problem in my car. So, I went to one of your authorized center in Chandigarh (Carizma Hyundai) on 4th Sept. as per them loss was around Rs70,000. As there was breakage of head and they committed me itll be rectified with in 15days. They had provided me with Job Card no: **, Car No: **. It took two months to arrange head. After 2 months, they called me and confirmed we have to put crunch shaft which will cost 30000. So total amount comes to be 100000.

This morning, my husband goes into the garage and notices all the lights are on on the car. Headlights dash is lit up and brake lights are on. He thinks I left the lights on and goes to flip the switch, nothing, so he starts the car, turns the car off, the electrical goes off but engine continues to run with no key in the ignition. In order to shut off the car, he has to pull the fuse for the fuel pump. He then disconnected the battery, waited for an hour reconnected battery and guess what, the electrical is all lit up again with nothing and I mean nothing in the ignition. So he once again disconnects the battery and we wait.4 hrs later, I reconnect the battery, the electrical is still all lit up but now a new issue. Something caught fire under the cup holders and melted the cup holders and guess what, I am out a car. I broke the 100k yesterday. I have 3 payments left and nothing able to do about it. After reading 900 plus comments on here and googling anything similar to this, I FOUND nothing. When I called the dealership, the first thing out of their mouths was its out of warranty, the entire electrical will need to be replaced, and 3 are you sure it was the car running and not the fan... Will never ever own another Hyundai again.

Hyundai Getz, repair of tail light - My partner recently cracked the plastic tail light on her car. Being a Hyundai, she took it to Hyundai in Brighton Victoria and was quoted $250 for the part and installation. It sounded steep so I bought the part from Repco ($60) and replaced it in about six minutes. I am no car expert. My dissatisfaction is that we were about to get ripped off by Hyundai. It makes me wonder why we would take the car for a service anywhere near Hyundai. There was absolutely no loyalty shown to us as Hyundai customers. I am not sure if Mazda or Holden would do the same, but this performance of customer service was appalling.

I have a 2012 Elantra and when I go over a crack or bump in the road, the car hops to the left or right. I have never had a car do this before and the biggest complaint I have is, Hyundai is denying any issues or problems. The two dealerships that I went to say, It is within Hyundai specs so they cant do anything about it. I would need to go to an alignment shop and have aftermarket shims put in. One problem is that Hyundai did not build the vehicle with four-wheel alignment adjustability or even install a camber adjustment bolt in the rear. I went through my 70,000 mile rated tires in 30,000. The back end tires are towed outward on the front side of the tire. My camber settings were 1.4 on the left and 1.7 on right. With this setting, you will go through tires and then the cupping will develop. In the winter time, park it and take a bus, its a lot safer.

Major problems from the start. Gear shift stopped working- froze in park- covered by recall. Steering column locked and had to replace. Our expense. Electrical issues - brake lights would not turn off. Now the engine failed. Burns oil and rod knock with no warning. No oil light ever came on. Told by dealer we need a new engine - was told problem is because we did not change oil regularly. Hyundai refuses to cover because I cannot produce every oil/filter receipt (sometimes had private oil change). They said it would cost $5-7000 to replace. Had it towed home and we are trying to decide what to do. Found out online there is an investigation into class action suit for engine failure by Chimicles & Tikellis. Will NEVER buy Hyundai again and will NOT RECOMMEND.

I have a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. I went with the Tucson because I wanted AWD. It has been one of the biggest mistakes. The first was getting a Hyundai. They don’t care about their consumers. My car has been blowing headlights- having electrical issues (my auto windows go back down when you roll them up, my rear windshield wipers go off whenever they want, my break light seems to go on and off at random. I have reached out because as a company they should only want the best products out there. I was told that “because my car is over 3 years old. There is nothing they can do for me. To bring it to a dealer and “see what I can get” for it. I owe more than it’s worth because one thing they don’t tell you when you buy a Hyundai is they depreciate way faster than you can make payments to survive. DO NOT BUY A HYUNDAI.

2021 iconic does not support Apple phones even though they have Apple iplay icon in car. USB port does not work either. Although there is one in the car. Salespeople do not know this. Salesperson said my iPhone would work in the car. It does not. I sent an email to customer service. The form letter they sent back said they put what they feel the customer wants in the car. Really? Do you believe the customer doesn’t want to be able to use iPhones (really). And I mean any generation iPhone. I cannot use my phone GPS with Apple iplay or even my phone. Why would anyone not want to be able to use their iphone functions in a 2021 new car. No help or assistance from dealer or Hyundai. Will never buy a Hyundai again. They do not stand by their cars or even offer any type of resolution. Beware.

I called Hyundai assurance re my Tuscon. I bought a two year lease. I am covered. I called 3 pm to make a case for towing later in evening. I called at 9 pm to have tow. The guy came and said he cant do it because it is parked behind a car and in front of another. He left me stranded. I called hyundia back. They told me stop complaining and hung up. This is useless totally. I waited till 7 am to call my Geico who picked up car no issue and dropped it at service. When I called them in the morning they said I have no coverage cause I live in burrows. Seriously disturbing. I like my car but the poeple and service are zeros.

What happened was that my son was in a serious accident and the airbags never deployed. Thank God, he didnt get hurt bad but I think there is an explanation for that. I called the dealer Lia Hyundai of Hartford and they didnt have a fair explanation and I want to know why they didnt work. The car was totaled due to the accident.

I recently called/Hyundai roadside assistance, noticing that it included towing. My vehicle has a flat tire, and at this point I don’t have a ton of extra money. I live 200 feet away from a Firestone tire, a relative helped by purchasing the tire I needed and Firestone said they would install it. All I have to do is get the vehicle or the wheel over there. Well Hyundai Veloster don’t come with a spare tire or jack. So I can’t jack the car up and take the wheel off, this didn’t seem like a problem knowing I had roadside assistance. Well roadside assistance will not hold me across the street where I already have a fully paid tire waiting, they would however bring me to a Hyundai dealer but they are non-local to me. I was told by the tow company that exceptions can be made so I spent time on the phone with Hyundai’s customer service just so that they could tell me no. I can assure you after customer service like this I will never return to Hyundai again. This is a lack of compassion for their consumers, I understand you want me to be brought to a Hyundai dealer so the dealer can make the money on the tire and installation, but in my particular situation you should’ve okayed a tow across the street; don’t buy a Hyundai thinking you have someone there for you when you need it. You don’t.

On June 2020, I purchased a Palisade 2020 at Lougheed Hyundai. The car was purchased new. I quickly discovered that this car is in fact was damaged during the manufacturing process. Or, this may have been the result of damage incurred by workers at Lougheed Hyundai, which was then covered up. After a few days of having the car, I went to an automatic car cleaning service. After completing the wash, I noticed discoloration on the car body near the wheels (near the back passenger door) because its paint peels off. What bothered me with my experience at Lougheed Hyundai is the terrible customer experience and the general manager doesnt care of the customer. He offered me to repaint that part which is included in the warranty or he can replace that part of my car with a another new car!! So it might have been happened for my car before I purchased it. As a new Hyundai customer this is a very disappointed experience which I never had with different manufacture.

Purchased a 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe in May 2013. It unfortunately came to my attention that despite what Hyundai labels as Americas Best Warranty, that this same warranty will not be honored for the repeat breakdown that also occurred in May 2014. The problem that is being referred to occurred for the first time this past May 2014. When the driver made a left turn on a side street, he heard a loud noise coming from under the car. Upon further inspection, the vehicle was not able to be driven and therefore a flat bed came and towed the vehicle to the closest Hyundai dealership, which was College Park. Once the car was able to be inspected it was determined that the rear differential case cover bolt broke off; (actually it completed sheared in half) which in turn caused damages to the passenger side axle, propeller shaft, shaft assy, and flange assy. After a few days of going between the dealership and the manufacturer it was determined that it would be covered under the warranty and they then arranged for a rental car and began to do the repairs. After a couple of weeks, the car was completed and it was driven without any further issues until the most recent incident, which occurred October 9. Once again, the driver was making a right hand turn coming out of his work-place parking lot. Again there was a loud noise and this time the car was left totally inoperable. Because of the mechanism of the defect the car had to again be placed on a flat bed and towed to the College Park Hyundai once again. Again there was communication between the dealership and the manufacturer, but this time it was determined that it was NOT going to be covered under the exact same warranty that covered it in May; definitely something that was hard to figure out; how a different opinion was made this time. If you compare the work order from both May and October, once again you will see that the rear differential case cover bolt broke off; (again, sheared in half). As you can imagine this then in turn caused damages to the passenger side axle, propeller shaft, shaft assy, and flange assy. The warranty is not going to be honored and base the defect on the operator error or something along the lines of the way the vehicle was being driven. I find it hard to determine how the exact same defect can be covered under the main warranty at one point and then 5 months later have the exact same problem occur and NOT be covered under warranty. In addition, if you look at the repair order from the May event, you will note along the side Limited Warranty; parts and labor warranted 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first. So this is yet another warranty that Hyundai is choosing not to honor. I find it very difficult that a company can come to two completely different conclusions on almost identical defects. When we called the consumer affairs division, unfortunately we were not met with the courteous of individuals. And I can’t even blame this on someone having a bad day as with every time that we have had to call the consumer affairs office to try and deal with this problem, we again were met with less than professionalism. After discussing this problem and going between many individuals, you have come to the conclusion that now you are willing to split the repairs 50/50; and we still have not been offered a rental car to use while all of this is figured out. With your latest decision is that after it does get fixed (under warranty or partly under warranty), what warranty (or will there be a warranty) is going to cover these repairs yet again. It is unfortunate that it has come to this. I am hoping that Hyundai would honor the warranty that claims to be the Americas Best Warranty and fix the vehicle. If Hyundai does not consider this under warranty, then what next?? How am I to know what Hyundai warranty they will honor and what warranty they won’t honor. It doesn’t seem fair or ethical that a business manufacturer can decide not to cover a warranty just by saying so. It is a shame that a letter such as this has to be written before Hyundai will consider a different conclusion and come to the realization that the bolt that was sheared in half yet again should and does consist of a defect covered by the warranty. Anyway, after all is said and done they refused to cover it under warranty and estimated repairs at over $6000 dollars. I will never buy a Hyundai ever again and have been telling everyone to run, dont walk as far away from a Hyundai purchase as possible. Whatever happen to the customer is always right. Thank God for Lemon Laws; we will let the courts figure it out.
I purchased a 2013 Hyundai Elantra Limited with all the bells and whistles.
I purchased a 2013 Hyundai Elantra Limited with all the bells and whistles. The Elantra comes 17 inch tires when you order the Limited. The 17 inch tires are also very low profile tires (45). The day I purchased the car was a cold and rainy day last November. When I test drove the car the roads were wet. On dry pavement the road noise started at about 35 MPH and gets so loud you have to turn up the radio just to hear it. NOT what you would expect from a $25000 car. I have complained about it to Hyundai - they authorized me to have the tires replaced with better quality tires - which I did and the problem still existed. Hyundai admitted there is a problem or they would not have replaced the tires. Many road tests have been done with Hyundai employees and all admit there is excess noise. I am working with the BBB to get Hyundai to buy the car back. Last week Hyundai after admitting there was a problem now wants to deny the claim. The problem is an engineering issue that cant be fixed and this was told to me by Hyundai. Has anyone had luck with the BBB arbitration hearings? I am very disappointed in Hyundai. Hyundai admits there is a problem now wants to deny a claim. I am not going to go away.

I purchased this car 6 months ago along with an extended warranty. I was driving it the other day and it just died on me while I was on a busy street! I put the hazards on and put it into park and tried to restart and it would not. I got it towed to the dealership and they inform me the engine has seized and it will cost me about $8000 to fix it! The oils burned up and caused it to seize!

I needed to have my car back so i had the dealership do the repair and i paid for it. I was contact by Hyundai as a result of this post (they emailed me) and i called them and left a message. Then i called a week later saying that i havent heard back from the gentleman. He called me later that day and told me that since my car is out of warranty, and that they did honor the warranty on the 4th ignition coil even though it was out of warranty... there is nothing they could do. They obviously wont recall it, they wont refund me. Again... car parts go bad... but for each coil (there are 4 of them) to go bad and then ANOTHER one... you would think that there is some defect in the manufacturing that is causing the coils to fail.I informed him that it would take an act of god for me to purchase a Hyundai again, or any vehicle that they manufacture.

My wife and I purchased a brand new 2011 Hyundai Tucson based on the consumer safety ratings. We had a baby on the way so safety was important to us. On September 23rd 2011, six months after driving the vehicle off of the lot, I got a frantic call from my wife saying the car was smoking. I told her to pull over and I would come get her and we would call a tow truck.Within two minutes I received another call. This time the car, she told me, was engulfed in flames. Se narrowly escaped being trapped in the car, since the automatic locks were locking and unlocking in a ghostly manner and was trapped momentarily in the car, along with our 4 month old son, inhaling electrical smoke. Thankfully they both got out alive. The investigation concluded an electrical fire had started and the vehicle was a total loss. I have never experienced such rudeness on the phone as I attempted to contact many representatives from Hyundai Consumer Affairs. Hyundai is a disgusting company. They told us that Americas Best Warranty did not cover this. Never buy a Hyundai. Your life may depend on it.

On August 2011, the dealer offered me two tires, if I purchase the Hyundai Azera 2006. The tires that the car has, is in bad shape. With this deal, I purchased the car. Two months have passed, and I still have not received my tires. I have called them numerous times, spoke with the salesman, Brandon, the manager, David, and I recently called Michael **, the customer satisfaction rep. They have not returned my call yet, and I am still waiting for my tires. My tires have no threading, that is why he offered the two tires. It is now November 2011.

I paid 36,853.00 for a Sonata turbo Tech pack and came with a FOD. Chrome tailpiece rusted within in the first week. I examine carefully several time where this dusty rust came from. Why I have rust particle in top of the tailpipe every day? UMMM To repair I have to paid 400.00 dollars to the body shop to remove the bumper cover and surprise, we found metal shaving in the cavity of the bumper frames were the two bolts hold in place the uni-body and the bumper frame. We have photos and planning to reporting to BBB. Manufacturers corporation sometimes they have angry employee damaging the products to make the company look bad. The quality control department for Hyundai is completely responsible for any FOD left in a car. The dealer was notified, they dont care. I submit all the evidence to Allstate claim department. Total repair 650.00.

We bought a 2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. I only get 34 MPG on the HWY. The mileage reimbursement is nothing short of insulting. I was blatantly lied to by my salesman when I purchased my car. I was very much bothered that the hybrid does not have a spare tire, so much that I considered walking away! But my salesman said, If you get a flat, we will bring you a tire and YOU GET FREE TIRES FOR FIVE YEARS. I replied, Is there a mileage limit on getting the new tires? Salesman: No mileage restrictions, free tires for five years. ABSOLUTE LIE!! I called the service department recently and the woman practically laughed at me! And last, I called the previous Mercedes Benz dealership that I bought a car from in 2002 (WHERE TRUE CUSTOMER SERVICE LIVES). Turns out the 100,000/10-yr warranty that we paid $1,995 for, cant be transferred which dramatically reduces the resale value!! Not only did the company lie about the MPG but the dealership lied as well!! I will never buy another one!

I bought an Elantra car for Hyundai Des Moines dealer, actually I bought a lemon. I bought this car because its fuel efficiency as they advertise it is 28-38 mile, but in the first day I found that its mpg is 24 and it stated drop by time and after one week it become 17.5. That is unbelievable. It is like a big SUV. I contact the company and they requested to put it in service. This is not acceptable. A new car go to service in the first two weeks. The government must protect the customer from the liar car companies and we must be able to return the car if it is not as they said. Another serious issue was its tire - it has no traction on snow. I get stuck on snow 4 times. I need to change the tires and this is unacceptable too. Could anyone guide me how to return this car?

Extremely pleased with my 2004 Hyundai XG350L. Years ago I would have never thought to buy a Hyundai of any type but was struck by what I saw in the XG350L. It gave me 11 years and 248,000 miles of enjoyment. Would buy another if I could afford it.

I purchased a brand new 2015 Hyundai Genesis on Dec 5 2015 and began having problems almost immediately with check engine light flashing and the car not starting and locking up on me? I traded my 2014 Kia Cadenza in on this car with 14,000 miles on it and only had to change the oil 2 times with NO problems! I took my car in for service and had the electrical harness replaced 2 times and ECM replaced but the same problem with the electronics persisted after 7 times in for service in 5 months. I resorted to the Lemon Law in Nj in April 2016 with 2500+ miles on my Genesis. Still making payments and full coverage insurance on my car. Finally I was given a court date in May 22 2017 but a week before Hyundai Motors of America (HMA) made an offer thru my Lemon Law attorney to buy the car back and I just wanted to get this mess resolved because the car has been in the shop since May 5 2017 and the Tech havent found the problem yet?Today is August 10 2017 and my nightmare continues. I dont have the settlement I was promised by HMA yet. NO car. The dealer took the loaner back after several weeks and the Lemon Law attorney has been telling me the settlement checks have been ordered but I am STILL making car payments and FULL coverage on a car that I cant drive and NOBODY is looking out for my interests the attorney seems to work for HMA instead of me? This has been the worst summer of my life! NEVER again HMA!

I am hoping this will help me in some way. In Aug of 2014, I spoke to Hyundai Motor Finance (the company I am having issues with, not the dealership) asking what I need to pay and how I need to pay to get my lease balance paid down so the dealership will buy my Sonata from me. The bank told me to just pay the X” amount of dollars needed through the website. I do that and the payment hit on Aug. 20th. I go to a dealership, and they tell me a payment was not shown on their end and they will not help me. I called the bank and they said the payment, should not have been processed like that and that they will re-apply it so it reflects at the dealership. Almost 1 month later it was re-applied, on Sept 18th 2014. I go to another dealership, someone met worked at this one, gave me the same exact answer. I call the bank again and once again I get another another answer. I have 3-wayed myself, the bank and several Hyundai Dealership reps (including management) and no answer was the same. The number at the bank wouldnt show up at the dealership. My payment would not show up at the dealerships. The bank reps told the dealership to just pay a certain amount, they would not send the dealership an official notarized invoice saying how much is owed. It was pretty much just ‘take our word for it’ type of deal. Basically another dealership told me they will not go by HMF word because they do not TRUST them and has had issues. How come the Hyundai bank and dealership not work together and have the same financing system is beyond me. The dealership told me to get a refund from the bank and give them the money and they will pay the difference that way. So from the end of September till this day, I have been waiting to get a refund. I have spoken to managers and reps and everyone has ** and have not helped me. I sent $8500 in August and still waiting to get some of it back. I spoke to 4 different managers and was told I would get a call back. No one has ever called me back. I ask them if they see the notes saying for a call back and it is all written there. Either the manager is on lunch or in a meeting. Right! In Oct, I was told a check would ship Oct 4th. I call back Nov 12th asking when it was shipped and they said Nov 5th and shipped to your current mailing address. I call back Nov 18th asking where this check is and they said it was shipped yesterday, Nov 17th.” Make it worse they shipped it to my old mailing address!! They apologized for not adding the mailing address. How do they make such a mistake when they ask you for your address at the beginning of each call? I speak to a manager right after that. She told me she would put a stop to the check and get a check over-nighted to me. Ashley the manager promised to call me back that day. Never did. I call back that evening and shes allegedly on Lunch!! Sure. Call back today Nov 19th and every single manager is in the meeting. Guess what, I was supposed to get a call back. NOTHING!! NO CALL BACKS AND NO REFUND!! Top it off, this car was supposed to be turned in Aug before my car insurance was due. I have had to pay for full coverage for 4 months for a car I am not driving.

I bought a used Hyundai Sonata 2011 in Oct. 2011. The previous owner had around 25,000 miles on it. I have changed the oil and also the brakes on the car since I have purchased it. It was running well with no problems (no indicator lights or warning lights ever came on), and of course there was no noise, just running as usual. I have put around 16,500 miles on it and no problem. On Dec. 22, 2012, it just wouldnt turn on, so I thought it was my battery. We asked for a boost but it still didnt work. I called Hyundai and stated they would get it towed in. That was on Dec. 24th. The tow company decided to give it a boost first to see if he could get it started but he also said the battery was too drained. I waited for a call from the mechanic and on Dec.26th, I was told he needed my authorization to change out the battery that it was no good. I asked if it was covered under my warranty with Hyundai or even the extended warranty I got. He stated no. So, I said replace it. The following day, I called for my car to get picked up and he states he needed to talk to me and said my car still didnt start and I would need a new engine due to no oil in the engine. He told me that the car looked like it had never been maintained, not once ever. I told him I did, but I didnt have the receipts to prove the oil changes. So he told the Hyundai Company that he denied the coverage due to neglect on the car. And I told him I also have an extended warranty which I told him to call. He didnt. I had too.I called a day later since he never called back to let me know anything. He stated my extended warranty wouldnt cover it either and I asked why. He stated it was because he denied the warranty due to neglect of the car. It’s funny when no lights or noises occurred without any indication that there could be something wrong, and all the extra coverage I got to avoid any problems. He states the problem could as well have been there from the previous owner and my bad luck I got stuck with it.

My father owned a 2013 Hyundai Elantra. Previously the car had shown multiple failures such as the steering unexpectedly locking or brakes making loud obnoxious sounds. A few days ago my sister and mother had gotten into a car accident. The car had went airborne and went head first and hit a curb. The car is currently totaled and my mother had multiple injuries. The airbags had not opened during the process. This is outrageous and we would seriously like to have this problem solved. Luckily no one was in critical condition, but still this should never happen.

Our new 2013 Sonata Hybrid is getting around 26 MPG, not the 37-40 MPG that was advertised. We purchased the vehicle summer of 2013. So far company is blaming it on the cold after 2 dealership visits. We understand that a few miles can fluctuate, but 11-14 is significant. We would appreciate a follow-up. Thank you.

We just purchased a 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy trim in Sep 21 because we loved that it had everything we were looking for in regards to safety, technology, and design. We paid $45k for it along with about $1,000 in fees and travel to pick it up. We were quite excited as this was our first brand new vehicle. 2 months into it, the transmission went bad and we brought it to Hyundai to find out whats going on as it was under warranty. Heres where things went further south.Hyundai cant get parts to fix their brand new cars...and on top of that, why would a transmission already be bad? It has sat on their lot since Nov 30th, 2021. Last week we just got an offer to buy back the vehicle for more than 4k less than what we just bought it for and drove it for two months. They stated that our state allows for depreciation in Missouri for lemon laws and they cant help us, it is what it is. During this time, cars have gone up because dealers are now charging a mark up fee, so although they can claim depreciation, we cant claim appreciation on the car. So to get the same exact car we just bought, we now will have to pay 4-8k more for equivalent. Its horrible. And just for a buyer beware situation, Hyundai will no longer replace your car with an equivalent one substitution for collateral equity. They stopped replacing them with like cars because theyre manufacturing so few that anything they make has to go to dealers to get top value for them.Point being for this review is that although Hyundai makes a great car much of the time, if you have any problems at all, there are concerns of finding parts for repairs, and if its unrepairable, plan on a huge deduction for a buyback. Good luck out there from a very unhappy customer who just lost 4-8k on a brand new vehicle, and now I have to go find a replacement on my own.

Drove an hour from my home to Stockbridge, Massachusetts and left my keys on my car seat only to return and found out I was locked out. I called Hyundai roadside service and was told it would be 58 minutes for service to arrive. I waited an hour and called again and the automated response said the driver was 3 minutes away. I waited another 15 minutes and called and got a Hyundai live person and he told me that the service company 911 was 3 minutes away. Here’s where Hyundai roadside service failed. After waiting almost 2 hours I called and they told me that the service company canceled the work order to unlock my car because it was not their area. I was furious at this point and asked what do I do. After another 2 hours I received a call that a roadside assistance vehicle would come from Lenox, Mass. Will be there in approximately 5 hours. At this point I had to call my son to bring me another set of keys. It took him over 3 hours for a round trip run. It was either that or break my window a bill Hyundai. I will reconsider buying another vehicle that claims it offers roadside service.

This is with deep disgust that I am writing this letter to Hyundai. My familys loyalty toward Hyundai started in the year 1999 with the first generation Santro. From there, we have possessed Accent which was bought by my brother, two Verna first generation, etc. and finally we have gone for a Fluidic Verna in the year 2011. I possessed a white Verna SX CRDI ABS, which was the top variant in the year 2008. The reason for top model with ABS was due to the utmost safety concerns. But I had 3 instances of accident with my car which was due to ineffective ABS. This complaint I have raised with The Popular Motor World delegates in Cochin, Kottayam, Muvattupuzha centers in Kerala but they could not help me on the same.I had spent thousands of bucks on service after the other but the result was the same. Now, my car has covered 75,000 kilometers and even last week, I was about to meet with an accident owing to the problem of the ABS. Now, delegates in the service department is suggesting me to change the ABS Sensor. Brand loyalty is exercised by a customer due to various factors among which I believe the most important one is service quality and the ownership the company takes to give customer delight. But now when I turned back, I am surprised to find that passenger car market had given me numerous option to choose from but still I was loyal to Hyundai and all due to that decision I am now having a tough time. None of the brands are built in a day and I strongly believe that quality is not an accident but an outcome of conscious and continuous effort. Please help me to come out of this issue. Thank you.

Bought a new Hyundai Elantra in 2002 and the transmission went out at only 80,000 miles. To fix transmission ranges from $1000 to $2500. That is more than the Blue Book value of the car! Hyundais are JUNK! Get a TOYOTA or a HONDA instead.

Very angry with Hyundai Motor America. At the end of February my car had a warning light (the only one ever) Hybrid battery low, stop do not drive. After 2 days hunting for a battery, we replaced the battery only for it to be completely dead. Had it towed to the dealership. They run a diagnostic on it and tell me that it needs a power relay assembly kit replaced. Ok, so we have that replaced. The next day I call and they say, Well we replaced it but your engine is locked up! BULLCRAP! I have been going back and forth for over 2 months with Hyundai Motor America only for them not to stand up to their word!HMA called dealership to have them drop the oil pan and look for metal fragments, well guess what? They found metal fragments in my oil pan. Even knowing that these metal fragments are in there they are still denying my claim and refuse to replace my engine. They say my car is not part of the recall, imagine that! Is anyones car actually in the recall... I am so **! They are worthless liars! Would like to have an attorney to contact us all.

Why is it that whenever you buy the extended warranty and then need the dealership to honor that warranty, it covers everything except the work that you need? I have a 2012 Elantra with the extended warranty and the AC broke. Now Piazza Hyundai in Limerick PA says it will cost me over $700 to replace. This is fraud. What else could it be.

Premier car should have quality parts installed or repair the part for the customer at no cost. Plastic cover over sensors should be on a recall. Plastic cracked on the 2015 Genesis with less than 2,000 miles and Hyundai wont honor it. Way out of coverage is they saying a rock struck it with no sign of damage on the cover except its cracked.

Faulty Caliper Pins on 2012 Accent: Long story short, I had Merchants Tire in Warrenton look at my brakes because of awful noise. They showed me the gouge in the rotor from where the brake pad wore because of a faulty caliper pin. They stated there should be no reason for this caliper pin to be broken and the pad to wear unevenly. They called Browns Manassas Hyundai and conferred with one of their mechanics. He also seemed to think it was a factory defect and under warranty. They suggested bringing it in and confirming the issue. I made an appointment for 3:30 the next day. At noon, they called and said the service station was closed and they set up an appointment at Fairfax Hyundai. I drove my car 45 miles out to Fairfax where I was treated like a stupid girl and spoken to as if I were an ignorant child. They said it would take at least 2 hours before they could look at it. I left with my ride and half way home, I received a call from the service department. They stated that the brake pads were worn evenly but needed changed, the rotors needed turned and there was absolutely nothing wrong with the calipers. It would cost around $400-$450 to fix. This completely contradicted Merchants (who have known me for the past 8 years). I am fed up with the runaround so I contacted a supervisor, Gustavo, at Hyundai Customer Service. He assured me that it sounded suspicious and he would call Fairfax. On my way back to picking up my car, which I instructed them NOT TO TOUCH, Fairfax Hyundai calls me to say, “It does seem to be a caliper issue but its just dirty and we can clean it. But you do need pads and rotors. We can fix it but it will cost you. I spent the last half hour trying to DIG the brake pad out of the rotor with a screw driver!” WHAT? A SCREW DRIVER DIGGING A BRAKE PAD OUT OF MY ROTOR? I was just told the rotors were fine, no scratches and worn evenly and now they are digging something out of them. I am beyond irate and disgusted. Going on 2 weeks now and car is still not fixed. On top of that, they are having to reimburse consumers because of the misquoted mpg.

My car was taken into Delray Hyundai on February. My complaint was that my car, on two occasions, raced out of control while pulling away from a gas pump. It took a great effort to stop the car from having an accident. Hyundai service reported that nothing was wrong with the car. On August, while in a strip mall looking for a parking space, my car went out of control causing a five car accident. Hyundai refused to turn over my car to my insurance company for inspection. It has been two weeks and I am totally in the dark except that I was told that it now was being handled by the National office. It could take 10 weeks to be inspected. It does not take that long to build thousands of cars. There is no doubt that time is in their favor since I will soon have to rent a car at my cost. It is near impossible to contact the CEO, to expedite this matter.
After having a 2016 Hyundai Veloster and having issues with oil consumption
After having a 2016 Hyundai Veloster and having issues with oil consumption we are being told that due to sludge in the motor and supposedly we are needing a new motor that warranty will not cover a replacement and we are expected to be out of pocket $9400. This is absolutely ridiculous and was told by Consumer Affairs that there was no number for corporate who made the final decision to decline our case. Very unprofessional and no way to do business! This is the true definition of loophole! The car is still under the 100,000 or 10 year warranty!! I will be pursuing other resources and what I have to do about this! The ball was dropped and Hyundai doesnt care. They found a way out of doing the warranty work!

2013 Tucson GLS 2.4L • Automatic transmission *Hyundai believes 108,000 miles is normal for a motor to seize. That is what Reggie a representative at Hyundai told me. 3/14/2019. In February of 2018 I purchased my 2013 Tucson. My sister was on the highway, driving highway speed, when suddenly the vehicle just lost power completely. She was able to roll to the shoulder safely, but only because it was a light traffic time of the day. Any other time, it wouldve been trouble. She called me right away. I told her not to start it till we got there, when we got there (Tow Truck already en route) there was absolutely no life whatsoever in the engine. The electronics were barely working, but the engine was not responsive.I had the vehicle towed to a shop, to which they told me the following day that the engine was seized, they explained that the oil pump had stopped working. They even took pictures and sent them to me of the piston and the lower motor blown out. How could this be since it only has 108,000 Miles, and I kept up with the scheduled oil and filter changes! Hyundai says this is not unusual! The warranty is only honored if youre the original owner, and I was not. I would never buy or deal with a Hyundai ever again as long as Im alive, and this inconvenience has cost me time, travel inconveniences, stress, and of course...money, not only do I STILL OWE OVER $8,000.00 ON IT, I can not get to work till its fixed. The Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sportage, and Kia Sorento have been reported as having these same issues, but the Tucson absolutely needs to be included, because theyre using the same engine (components) in this model year.

I do not understand, and I will try to summarize my experience so as to save everyone the grief of reading an extensive unpleasant experience. In short, I have leased with Hyundai since I was 20 years old. I am 24 now, and this car (so am on my second lease now) is one of the biggest regret of my young adult life. For my previous leased vehicle, I was hit with a bill of nearly 5,000 dollar, which a very big chunk of that money did not apply to my actual balance since I continued to lease with them. After the proper deductions, my bill went down to about 3,600. That is fine, except that each time I called to have a number confirmed, I received a different quote. I once called literally sobbing because I had no idea what to do, in which I was “helped” by a woman that talked over me the whole time, was terrible at explaining anything to me, and told me I could “get a second job” to try to pay for my balance. Okay. I paid the money and received a voicemail (not very clear to make out what it said) saying something about my balance. I called back to try to get back to that person, had their extension and everything to confirm that they received my payment, and literally spent 20 mins on the phone with someone, intermittently getting put on hold, only to be told they could not find the extension or the balance I was speaking of. I finally have let it go and assumed that they received my payment. This is the gist of that experience. Today, I called because I am having trouble with the radio playing over the music I am streaming, so I called to get help. The lady on the phone said “we don’t help with that, I can give a number of you have anything to write down” and I said that I was driving, asked if I could get forwarded to the proper place. So she forwarded my call, and a lady answered and I could not hear or understand her at all. Finally, she spoke closer and I could hear her louder but still not well. I explained my problem, she said “yeah we don’t help with that” so I told her I was forwarded and didn’t know what to do. She literally said “thank you have a nice day” and hung up. HUNG UP. I was mid sentence and baffled and honestly, I am starting to figure things out on my own whenever I have a problem with my Hyundai vehicle, because customer service has been so incredibly unhelpful, rude, and appalling to interact with, honestly. It’s so shameful, and I am not sure if this is normal? Do other vehicle companies do this to their customers? I am planning to purchase my current vehicle so I will be with Hyundai for a long time, which sincerely fills me with dread and I am starting to feel resentful. This has been a terrible experience since the start, and I don’t call anymore to spare myself the stress of interacting with these people. I don’t even have the words. Just absolutely terrible.

Recall on Santa Fe gasket leaking oil into alternator - Received recall notice after I had already paid over $700 to repair same. Contacted Hyundai headquarters (10550 Talbert Ave., Fountain Valley, Cal. 92708) more than once. But never so much as get a reply. Sent them copies of recall and bill.
I was forced to sign a lease for 2012 Hyundai Elantra by Herb Chambers Hyun
I was forced to sign a lease for 2012 Hyundai Elantra by Herb Chambers Hyundai of Auburn, promising a great deal and rebate. But they have put more than $3,000 above their MSRP of $21,495. They gave me no rebate. When questioned, they said this particular car doesnt have a rebate. But that car always remained in their specials page with all the other deals! They did all malpractices in the lease calculation and made me put a down of $530 - $2,000 cash and $3,300 trade-in. Still, they made my monthly installment $291.44 for 36 months with 12,000 miles per year.Their advertisement says MSRP $21,495, monthly installment $234 for $0 down! I paid $5,300 down but my installment is much higher than what their ad says. I contacted them many times with this but their response was so sarcastic and humiliating. The managing director asked me, Then why did you take the car? in a very sarcastic way. They even openly accepted that they put a higher MSRP purposefully and they do have the right from Hyundai to do so.I complained in Hyundai consumer affairs but they closed the case just listening to the dealer saying that they gave me a huge package of accessories which made the price difference. The accessories the dealer gave me did not cost beyond $1,000, but the lady who represented Hyundai was not willing to listen to me. She was in a hurry to close the case. I am trying to get justice in some or other way.
My brand new 2011 Hyundai Sonata 2.4L GLS engine blew up at 18,000 miles on
My brand new 2011 Hyundai Sonata 2.4L GLS engine blew up at 18,000 miles on I-10, 670 miles from our home. We had the car fully serviced prior to our trip, 10 days to be exact. This was the second long, distant road trip with this new car. We almost lost our lives. What saved us was an exit we were approaching at the time and experience driving. It sounded like parts were flying in every direction. This story would not have gotten out, if we were dead. But, we are alive, well, and ready to tell the world our story. Upset and confused at that moment the car stopped, we just could not believe that a brand-new car would blow an engine. We called the Hyundai consumer care department for help. We were interrogated before they asked me, Where is your exact location? My cell phone battery could have died before they got our location. You would think that in this day where computers rule the day, all the information would flash before them after we gave them the ID of the vehicle and name of the people calling would be sufficient to start the ball rolling. No! She asked for my ID then my driver license, then the ID of the vehicle, then the registration. I had to stop her and asked, Would you like to know where we are? While you locate someone close by to pick us up, you could get all the information you want as we wait. She said yes. We had someone there who stopped to help that was on their way to work and were waiting to give the exact location where the car stopped. Once that ended, it took about an hour for the tow truck to arrive. The tow truck towed the vehicle to the nearest Hyundai dealership close by, 15 miles away. The dealer service manager looked at the car and determined the engine must be replaced. He called to order a new engine. The engine for 2011 Sonata 2.4L GLS was second or third in line on the back-order list. Not knowing how long it would take to fix, instead of giving us a loaner or a new car to continue on our way, the dealership sent us to rent a car. That was it. We were back on the road, hoping the Hyundai Motor Corp. had our backs. You know, Hyundai Assurance Policy and all that went wrong will be right again. They spent more money penny pinching than it was worth. Good business sense is to always satisfy your customers. I was so very wrong about Hyundai Motors Inc.After the dealership got us back on the road, we were forgotten. No one from Hyundai Motors called to see if we were okay and to investigate about one of their new car engine failing like that. We had to initiate the call again. At our first call, we were given a claims number that we use to reference on our second and third call. No one at the consumer care department could make the connection to us with that assigned claims number. We had to explain our dilemma five times to five different people at the customer care office before I demanded to speak to a supervisor. Every one I call lied to me, promising me that they would personally investigate the matter and get back to me the same day or the next. They did not. At this point, I could see that I was in for a rough ride. This went on for 42 days after the engine blew up. It suddenly occurred to me - wait a minute, did they say I was third in line for that same type engine? Then others must be having the same problem! I started my own investigation, and I was not only sad but worried that I was not going to get any help from Hyundai Motors. All the complaints and reports I found on the internet made me angry that all this information was not in the media sooner to alert people like me and my wife before they took a bite of that rotten, pretty, shiny apple. I contacted the Better Business Bureau to force Hyundai to take the car back, because we were afraid to take it on the road again. We succeeded. But we lost, because we had to go buy another vehicle. We traded a perfectly good car that was paid in full for the 2011 Hyundai Sonata. I was disappointed. I did not find a recall on that engine type. My opinion, of an old mechanic, this engine is a time bomb.

New I10 Not Working: This is to inform you that I had purchased a new Hyundai i10 Asta on 11th April 2012. The vehicle was registered under registration no. **, and the same was delivered to me at 7pm on 11th April 2012. After taking possession of the car, I left for my residence at Naigaon. As I was closing towards Naigaon, my vehicle stopped working after a run of just 68 kms and was completely dead. I parked the vehicle and next day, I called up their call center and complained for the same. I was given a complaint no. (job no. **). Their technician, Mr. **, reached the spot and inspected the vehicle. After nearly working for two hours on the vehicle, he reported that the vehicle cannot be repaired as it would not start; hence, it had to be towed to their Thane workshop. He called certain concerned people, asked for a tow van and gave a report form giving details as vehicle not starting, alternator problem, taken by towing. From there onwards, my turmoil to get my vehicle repaired started. I called up the showroom from where I had purchased my vehicle and spoke to their sales manager, Mr. **, tel no. **, who promptly shifted his responsibilities to Mr. **, tel no. **, stating he is the technical in charge and will be able to help me out. On contacting him for two days, I got only one reply from him that we are trying to locate the fault. On pressing him to give me a proper status of my vehicle, he abruptly said that he was not concerned about it and was just trying to help me out and I should be contacting their technical in charge of Thane workshop, Mr. **, mobile no. **, as the vehicle was in their possession. After explaining to Mr. ** the entire case, he to promised to come back and report the same. As I did not get any response from him in the next 24 hours, I called him back on which he told me his assistant, Mr. **, will keep me updated of the status. I waited for another 24 hours waiting desperately for his call. I called Mr. ** and informed him that I have not received any call from Mr. **, on which he was very courteous of giving me his mobile no. ** (Mr. **). He called me up in the next 10 minutes and Mr. ** was the first person to update me that the vehicle had some alternator problem which they will replace and the vehicle should be ready by 16th April evening. After calling him again in the evening for my vehicles delivery, he told me that there were still some problems with the new alternator as the current was fluctuating and the vehicle needs further inspection for a day. I asked him if I could speak to someone senior but he could not provide me with any. In my desperation, I went to the Hyundai site address and got the number of M/S **, assistant manager, western division regional office, tel no. 022 40969000. On speaking to her, I thought I am coming close to solving my problem who promised me that she will look in to the matter and come back within an hour. After contacting her after an hour, she told me that I will see that my regional manager will personally look in to my case and by tomorrow, she will be coming to some solution. On 17th April, I tried to call M/S ** but I couldnt go through her tel. no. But I got a call from Mr. ** stating that the alternator replaced was also defective and they were waiting for a new alternator to arrive. This probably was the peak of any company being so irresponsible and hence, I once again called and told M/S ** that I do not wish to take a repaired vehicle, where their best technicians as claimed could not locate the problem in nearly six days for a brand new vehicle which was used for only three hours and approximately 70 kms. After purchasing a brand new vehicle and it stopping within three hours of delivery and me desperately calling nearly 125 times to their six top company representatives in the last six days and going in to hardship like getting stranded in the middle of the night and using a car on rental for the last seven days, my problem has no solution as I was forwarded to one more executive Mr. ** (**) by M/S ** as she had to go to Pune and could not attend to my problem. Last but not the least, Mr. ** has once again promised to look in to the matter fairly. As a customer, I dont deserve to suffer like this whereby I will be forced to address my complaint to the Consumer Forum as no solutions are seen.

I purchased a Hyundai Elantra Turbo back in September 2017. I have just recently been diagnosed with stage III colon cancer and have not worked for over a month and not sure when I will be getting back to work. I called the finance company for Hyundai and ask them if I could delay a few payments and add them onto the end of my lease. Their response was that there was nothing that they could do for me. I’m very disappointed! Upset! The way I feel right now if I could turn in my car and lease from another company that would have a little more compassion I would do it in a heartbeat! I will never buy another Hyundai based on this experience.
Just needed to let you know if ever you decide to buy a car, I suggest you
Just needed to let you know if ever you decide to buy a car, I suggest you buy it from Hyundai. Let me tell you why from my own experience - I bought an Elantra GLS 2013, from Hyundai Gatineau. Now wait, just wait till I tell you why you should not. After I bought my car. First of all, I get a letter saying that every year to go to where I bought my car and they will reimburse a credit card to pay the difference in gas because something about the consuming of gas is not ok, that the car should not drink so much gas. Then one yr later, getting ready to go to the States with 3 other persons and fill up my car with gas, so here I am all ready to go. Guess what, my car does not start, the radio works, the lights works, the battery is not dead so my son says, Mom, I have no idea what the hell is happening here.So I call CAA. He comes and says, Sorry, Miss, but need to take your car to the dealership garage. I tell him, But it is closed, so he tells me, I guess you will have to wait till Monday. So trip to the State, motel, friends waiting, everything down the drain. So Monday comes, me being really pissed off, I call and tell them that I am very upset with what happened and the answer was, Well, Miss we will call you and let you know what is wrong and this could happen at any dealership - no excuse. So they call me later and said, Your car is ready. You can come and pick it up, and I said, Well, I dont have a ride. He says, Well, cant you get someone to drive you? I replied, Hey, this is your responsibility. You get someone to take care of it. So he got someone to pick me up. Still pissed off, tell the guy this is the first time that I buy a brand new car and have so much issues with a car. He just looked at me like I was just a number, so I leave, get in my car and see my gas gauge. It was half full of gas, so I get out of my car and now really, really pissed off and go back inside to tell them about it and again Well, Maam, we did not drive your car. So I go and see the Manager. He brings me to see the Manager of the repair shop and looked at me like I was lying. Holy ** was I mad, so I said, I want to file a complaint, so they give me the number of Hyundai Canada. I call and tell them about what happened and yes by now, I am burning up OK. The lady at Hyundai Canada says she is sorry about what happened but We can offer you a gift for your inconvenience. I said of course yes, thinking this might be rewarding. Holy crap, I thought I was going to hit the roof. You just cannot believe what they offered me. This is truly what they offered me, a choice between a mug, a tuque, or a water bottle. I said to myself, Are you really that stupid to offer me such a gift after what I went through? I just said, Really, you can keep your gift, and hung up. True story, believe me. This is what I think about Hyundai Gatineau, Hyundai Canada, (NOTHING GOOD). Oh yea forgot to tell you what the problem was. It was a default in the wiring from the motor to the starter. I am 59 yrs old and have bought cars before and never and I mean never had issues like this. I have seen the complaints in the reviews and could not believe how many there was and nothing is being done about this. A guy needs a lawyer to deal with his problem. This is ridiculous. Why should this guy pay for a lawyer when there are so many complaints about Hyundai? What do we need to do for something to be done? You should allow us to return the car and get our money back so we can go to another dealer to buy another car. LOOK at the reviews about Hyundai and do something about it. Now I dont feel safe in my brand New car which does not make any sense at all. YES, I AM REALLY, REALLY PISSED OFF.

I was driving my 2007 Hyundai Entourage on my way to work when suddenly my driver side airbag deployed. I was not able to see for few seconds which caused me to hit a tree on the passenger side. Note: The front passenger side got the major damage, however its airbag didnt deployed on impact against that tree. My driver side has no damage at all. Luckily it was only me driving and none of my children were with me that day. Luckily the accident happened in my subdivision which is only around 15 mph drive. Had this happened in the highway, it could have caused more damage and probably fatality. 2 questions here: Why would my driver side airbag deploy all of a sudden at a low speed, driving straight on a smooth/dry road in a subdivision? And why didnt the passenger side airbag deploy on impact with that tree? Had one of my children been with me sitting in the front passenger seat, he or she could have gotten seriously hurt - the airbag wouldnt have been there to protect them from serious injuries. We love our minivan and never have any major problems with it since we bought it. It only has around 150,000 miles. This is a MAJOR SAFETY concern that the company Hyundai should address.
Ive been leasing this car for about 2 months and the brand new car shut off
Ive been leasing this car for about 2 months and the brand new car shut off on me randomly twice! First time it shut off I had to pick my toddler up from daycare that is 40 min away and they told me they will come in about an hour and half to tow my car. And they will not give me a loaner or anything to replace the vehicle while being looked at while my toddlers school closed and they are waiting for me to grab him. I kept trying to start the car in a panic and 2 hours later before the tow truck got to me the car started and I rushed to get him. The next day took the car to get looked at Paramus Hyundai service center and spent the whole day there with my baby for them to tell me my car is fine and told me I gotta go that they are closing. Meanwhile I tell them I do not feel safe driving with my baby in a car that shuts off with no warnings in middle of the road and I want a loaner and this car looked at more to find the problem. They said no and thats not their problem. Following week sure enough the car shuts off again at 8pm in middle of the road with my dogs and baby in the car and this time it never went back on. Cops stopped the traffic moved the car off road and when I called the sos they told me they cannot tow the car because the service center is closed and they cant get permission to park the car there... So we walked home from that area about a 15-20 min walk at around 10pm. I had to drag the baby back with me early morning to tow the car and sit at the service center all day with my poor son crying. And eventually that place brought me to tears, having me there all day not telling me anything until the very end of the day giving me a lot of problems about giving me a loaner car and only pulling some string and giving me a car seeing that Im stuck there with a fed up toddler. No one helping me, no one cared the first time it broke, now I do not feel safe in this car. I also want money back from the time I spent without a working car. I pay so much money for my time lost sitting on the phone and being transferred from person to person to tell me they cannot help me, calling corporate for them to transfer me from person to person for an hour me explains my issues over and over again to different people for them to tell me someone will call me that can help me in 3-5 business days!!! Are they crazy?! I dont want this car. I dont want to deal with anyone from Hyundai anymore!!! Im fed up, my family is fed up. I have never had so many problems with a car or with customer service as I do with this Hyundai Tucson limited! Im disgusted with the way I have been treated and I cannot believe Im still in this unsafe car that supposedly was fixed. A car that ** off like this after 2 months of driving it brand new is not a safe car and is not worth $466 a month! PS. There is a lot more to all this but I wanted to make it as short as possible. Bottom line me and my baby were put in unsafe position twice and no one does anything about it!
At 61000 miles, my power steering on my 08 Elantra failed - told by dealer
At 61000 miles, my power steering on my 08 Elantra failed - told by dealer service the sensor had to be replaced but since sensor so embedded within steering column, the only way to fix was to replace whole column. Because car was 1k miles over warranty, Hyundai would not cover - they paid half. Fast forward to today - just 40k miles later, power steering failed again. I cant afford the cost for Hyundai service to fix again. This is also not the only repeat problem Ive had with the car. Wondering if I have a lemon or if there is a different problem causing the sensor to fail. Reported to Hyundai - they wont do anything for me since they helped with the cost last time. Dealer told me they have never heard of anything like this and they say there is nothing they can do without approval from Hyundai corporate. Guess Im stuck with a car I cant drive. Hate companies that dont stand behind their product.

So I purchased a 2013 Hyundai Veloster with 34k on it. 7/12 my car started acting up losing power and I guess I would call it vibrating. The car only had 80k in miles on it. The dealership that I took the car to for service for the whole time the car ran said something about a #2 cylinder was bad and that they recommend doing the spark plugs too. I drove my car there daintily only on city streets, no highway, regular street speeds. According to the mechanic at hyundai after they did this the car would no longer hold combustion. Prior to this episode my car ran pretty good and was well maintained as well. Proper oil changes and maintenance as well however I did notice that it seemed to be going through more oil than usual and I had mentioned this to my service rep at Hyundai and he recommended that we start to monitor the oil consumption between oil changes and to start coming in every 1000 miles which I did. 7/7 I brought my car in to have the oil checked as it was just before the 1000 miles and I had plans to drive the car to little rock Arkansas so I wanted to make sure all was ok with my car as I always do before taking a trip in my car. So I barely make it back and the car started like get stuck in lower gear and make like a revving sound and but wasnt going any faster and the check engine light came on and was blinking and while blinking the car just didnt act right but if I turned the car off and then turned it back on the check engine light would stop blinking. It would stay on but it would stop blinking and the car would move. I got home and drove it directly to the dealership and left it there with them. I get back a car that had to be towed from the dealership and needs a motor. But because I am a second owner the engine is no longer under warranty and the motors have been discontinued so all I can really get is a used motor and the quote that I got from hyundai was 6500. Again all on me. Hyundai will not help in any manner. I am a handicapped individual who is now left carless and with no means to get any type of engine for the car. I said all this to say I am very very disappointed I thought I was buying a reliable car with a reliable name behind it but it doesnt seem for me that was the case. Im just screwed, paid something like 35,000 in car notes for a car that only ran for 3 yrs. If I only wanted a car to last for 3yrs I could have just gotten a cash car. I appealed to hyundai and was assigned a case manager by the name of Tyler who never talked personally to me. She would call and when I returned her call was placed right into voicemail then the only emails I got were the ones that said, We appreciate you contacting us and we will get back to you, and then when she finally responded it was to tell me that there was nothing that they were willing to do for me.

I have had a warranty claim submitted since my car was new (3 years ago). I have had the car in to service this claim 4 times and the last time (today), they made the problem worse, not better. They appear to never intend to repair the problem. This is a smaller issue with the near-criminal salesmanship I experienced when I bought the car. Please suggest on how I can repair my problem when they appear to not honor the warranty. Thanks.

I have had this car for 14 days. When I bought it the salesman could not get the nav to show anything but one major interstate. I trusted (HUGE MISTAKE) that the dealership would make it right. Now they tell me it has to be set at 150 feet to show street names. If youre on the highway going 60 mph - or even back roads at 40 - you wont have enough time to make the correct turns. Had they been honest about the severe limitations of the cars navigation system, I would have NEVER bought it. It would have been a deal breaker. I feel the dealership beginning to be very sleazy about this: Hyundai Great Lakes in Streetsboro, OH. Theyre basically telling me tough luck.I will not take the car back; am preparing to call my lawyer and will scream to the high heavens about this. I was tricked and lied to by this dealership. JUST DONT BUY A HYUNDAI... SEEMS LOTS OF THE DEALERS ARE SLIMY!!
Got wheel bearings changed at a local mechanic. The part was under warranty
Got wheel bearings changed at a local mechanic. The part was under warranty. I filed for warranty, requesting reimbursement for $250. I have been asked to get the proof of work done from a Hyundai dealership, which I am in total agreement with. The dealerships are asking me $400-450 for inspection. I am willing to pay that amount, considering that I would be reimbursed for it all. I repeatedly asked Hyundai customer service, whether I would be reimbursed if the dealership confirms that the repair was done. To which, I am being told that they cannot guarantee. Beyond common sense, how this works.
