Mazda Automobile Model 2025 Mazda CX-50
2025 Mazda CX-50
The 2025 Mazda CX-50 carries forward Mazda’s effort to blend rugged utility with refined design and strong on-road performance. Positioned slightly larger and more outdoors-focused than the CX-5, the CX-50 emphasizes versatility, technology, and premium appeal while staying true to Mazda’s reputation for driving engagement.
Exterior and Design
The CX-50 adopts a wider stance, squared wheel arches, and more aggressive proportions than the CX-5. It looks more rugged and adventure-oriented, appealing to buyers who want SUV toughness with Mazda’s signature flowing design lines. Higher trims and the Meridian Edition add off-road styling cues like unique cladding, hood graphics, and all-terrain tires. The panoramic moonroof, available on many trims, enhances the SUV’s open-air feel.
Powertrains
Mazda offers multiple engine options to suit different buyers:
A naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder producing around 187 horsepower, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.
A turbocharged 2.5-liter option, delivering up to 256 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque when fueled with premium gas, or 227 horsepower on regular gas. This version adds towing capacity and stronger acceleration.
A new hybrid variant, using Toyota-derived technology, producing 219 horsepower and offering an estimated 38 mpg combined.
All models feature standard all-wheel drive, enhancing traction and stability in poor weather and light off-road conditions. Turbocharged versions can tow up to 3,500 pounds, while the hybrid is rated for lighter towing duties around 1,500 pounds.
Driving Dynamics
Mazda tunes the CX-50 to drive more like a sport sedan than a typical crossover. The steering feels precise, and the suspension is firm enough to keep the SUV composed through corners while still comfortable for long drives. The Turbo trims deliver especially quick acceleration and effortless highway passing. Even the hybrid maintains a responsive, balanced feel, though its focus leans more toward efficiency than performance.
Fuel Economy
Efficiency depends on the engine choice. Non-turbo models average mid-20s mpg combined, while turbo models are slightly lower due to their extra power. The hybrid is the standout, with roughly 38 mpg combined, making it one of the most fuel-efficient compact crossovers in its class.
Interior and Technology
Inside, the CX-50 feels premium for its price. Mazda emphasizes clean lines, quality materials, and a driver-centered layout. The cabin features supportive seats with available leather upholstery, a wide 10.25-inch display, and physical controls for frequently used functions.
Technology highlights include:
Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Amazon Alexa integration starting with this model year.
A premium Bose audio system on higher trims.
Head-up display and a 360-degree camera system for improved visibility.
Wireless charging and multiple USB-C ports for convenience.
Passenger space is generous in the front and competitive in the rear, though taller passengers may find rear headroom slightly limited. Cargo capacity is practical and expands with folding rear seats, suiting both daily tasks and road trips.
Safety and Driver Assistance
Mazda equips the CX-50 with a full suite of advanced driver-assist features standard. These include adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic emergency braking. Updates for 2025 include enhanced nighttime pedestrian detection, a rear seat alert, and exit warning systems.
Trims and Value
The CX-50 is offered in multiple trims that progressively add features. The GS-L covers essentials with AWD, safety tech, and the panoramic moonroof. The GT introduces luxury features such as ventilated seats, leather, and Bose audio, with the turbocharged engine optional. Turbo models come standard with more power, towing capability, and off-road modes. The Meridian Edition adds rugged accessories, while the Hybrid trims focus on fuel efficiency without sacrificing comfort.
Pricing starts in the low $30,000s and stretches to the mid-$40,000s for fully equipped turbocharged or hybrid Premium Plus models.
Final Thoughts
The 2025 Mazda CX-50 stands out as a compact crossover that delivers both adventure-ready toughness and upscale refinement. With a choice between efficient hybrid power, balanced naturally aspirated performance, or the punchy turbocharged engine, buyers can tailor the SUV to their lifestyle. It balances daily practicality with premium design and engaging driving dynamics, making it an appealing alternative to more utilitarian rivals like the Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, and Subaru Forester.

Mazda Automobile Model 2025 Mazda CX-50
This vehicle has been very dependable with no major repairs needed. Ive been a bit disappointed as to the fuel economy. The model I purchased was a 4-cylinder. Ive only been getting around 25 mpg on the highway, not as fuel efficient as other 4-cylinder pickups Ive owned in the past. The interior is a bit cramped, but then again, it is a small pickup. Overall, Ive been happy with it. I may opt for a 6-cylinder pickup next time around which will be a bit more powerful than a 4-cylinder and still economical to drive.
I own a Mazda 6 2007 model. I have been very displeased with both quality and reliability of this automobile. The problems I have had: interior roof light fell out, clips on light broke, coil pack shorted, catalytic converter, A/C compressor, rod bearings (ruined engine). My family currently has 5 Hondas, 2 CR-Vs and 3 Civics and all bought new. Together they have over 600,000 miles and other than wear and tear items (tires, brakes, oil filter), have had zero problem. Honda also has excellent customer relationship department at every dealership I go to. Advice to everyone, when driving down the road, notice what brands you see the most (in parking lots, on the road) and go buy from them.
Im contacting you in regards with my recent experiences with the Mazda dealership in Peterborough Ont. I replaced a part on my car last winter after it fell off due to hitting a snow bank. A month or so later, the same part fell off my car for no reason. I did not hit anything. I took my car back to Mazda to have it replaced. After they looked at my car they then proceeded to tell that I owed them $30 or more because they looked at it and cut the piece off that had fallen off. They then gave me a quote for a new bumper and the piece that I had already replaced once. Which was over $1000. I refused to pay for a piece which I just replaced and told them I could not afford a new bumper. The lady at the service desk then told me that it looked like I had hit something with my bumper and thats why the piece had fallen off. I was insulted at the fact that she was trying to put blame on me when I had done nothing. The next day my father called and explained the situation to the manager and they then said that they would replace the part free of charge and for me to contact them to arrange an appointment. I gladly called them back and told them to order the part and that I needed to speak about finances with my dad about getting a new bumper, and that I would call them back. I called them back and set up an appointment to get the piece put on, but a few things came up and I wasnt able to go to the dealership. I cancelled the appointment, and the next thing I know Im receiving phone calls from blocked phone numbers that I have a new bumper waiting for me at the dealership and I need to come in and get it put on since I ordered it. They have called me numerous times and left what I would call rude messages on my cell phone an my home number. I called them three times on did not get an answer at the service desk. They have now informed me that they will be sending my bill to collections if I do not get the bumper put on. I refuse to pay for something that I did not order, and especially how Ive been treated. This is my first experience with buying a Mazda and dealing with them and I will never buy a Mazda again due to the experience. Im a good customer, I pay my bills, and never wanted this to go to this extent. I look forward to hearing back from you.
My experience with Mazda overall meaning corporate and the dealership has been horrendous. I think we should all get together and file a class action lawsuit. Mazda is making cars with defects. The dealer did a spot delivery spot scam on me. My car has been having all sorts of issue with the brakes not working properly and just recently the transmission. I have had it. Corporate does nothing. The VP Shawn Murphy is interested in money. Do not buy a Mazda unless you have it checked out first.
I bought my cx5 last jan 2014 here in the Philippines. I am already having trouble with my thermostat, with the aircon, with the bluetooth. They have poor after sales service. They want to tow my car without any replacement. I only have one car. I cant complain to anybody. Here they will make you feel its your fault you have flaky unit. They want to charge for the repairs. The is less than one year old. Still without warranty. I tried calling mazda Japan but they dont have contact number. Cant complaint to anybody. I should have bought German made car. POOR after sales. Not reliable. Have a back up car because mazda will break down anytime.
I purchased my CX-5 in 2015, and it is just at one year old. The windshield cracked, starting from the left hand side and reaches across right in front of the view. Researching this, it is apparent that many Mazda owners have experienced cracked windshields. There was no rock, just started cracking. Under warranty still, but the dealer will not honor the windshield. Replacement cost including labor is $850.00.Also, the tires on the car were nearly bald at 16,000 mi. The cost to replace the set was over $1,600 one year into the ownership, and Ive had to pay an additional $2,500 in expenses. If I had it to do all over again, I would have purchased the Honda CRX. So sad to give a company so much money, and have no similar consideration in return. And the dealerships do not take ownership of the problems; Its the Mazda manufacturing, in Japan. Ill never purchase another Mazda again. I hope this encourages someone to not purchase any Mazda vehicles in the future. Ill spend an hour or two at the dealership on Saturday to mention these issues to prospective buyers.
I have a 2002 Mazda Protege. I purchased it used in 2008 and about a year ago, the finish on the hood, roof, and trunk started to peel off. I can see that it is starting to pit and rust. The car looks like a piece of junk. I see other Proteges, same year, and the paint is fine. I paid around $8,500 for the car and other than that, I love the car. I previously owned a Mazda and this never happened to it.I want to know if there is any compensation I can receive for this defect of the paint. I know this should not be happening to a car thats 10 years old. Help! In anticipation of a response, thank you for your time and attention.
On May 21, 2013, I bought a new Mazda 6 Sedan - full optional, including the Red Soul extra paint. Just few miles away, I noticed 3 spots on the front hood. The paint is extremely thin and it is difficult to see the clear coat with a magnifier lens. I brought the car to the dealer and they said it is normal to get spots because of road sand. I washed the car and one more spot appeared. Because of my firm complaints, I was able to get an appointment with an inspector from Mazda and now Im waiting to see him. Paint quality is unacceptably cheap for that car standard. Should I expect the car surface to be pitting away day by day?
Purchased my CX9 in late 2012. Purchased the top-of-the-line touring with all the options. Got the top extended warranty and made sure I was set for 10 years. I love the car and how it drives and handles. HOWEVER, the Bluetooth stopped working properly July 2013 and Mazda spent almost a year blaming my phone (Blackberry) and my husbands iPhone. Finally, in August 2014, they admitted they have an issue with the software and it was a module issue. Mazda CANNOT fix it. They keep putting in test modules yet they refuse to provide me with respectful customer service. I said I would be their test subject and help them, no thank you for all my time and they have made the problems worse, not better. And when I asked Mazda Canada to have the engineer working on the issue call me, nothing... I asked them for compensation. Nothing... Now, I have a car where $2,500 worth of options dont work. I cant sell the car and I cant trade it in. Mazda has left me stuck with a car they cannot fix. Mazda Canada has put it back on the dealer and is even treating them with disrespect and indifference. Feeling left in a lurch! DONT BUY A MAZDA, STAY FAR AWAY....
I was cheated by Mazda Marshals Milton Keynes. I took my Mazda RX8 to the dealership for a check just to sort out my issues with my CD player which wasnt working properly. Along with that, I told them that the car seems to consume a lot of fuel. They later called me back and to my surprise no value was added to my car, nothing was done to my CD and all previous faults still existed. I was charged $57 which they claim is for the inspection of the car. I then called Mazda customer service along with checking their website only to find out that Mazda does a free comprehensive car health check, the same check which I was charged for. To further worsen the matter, a week after the inspection I discovered my RX8 had issues with starting again whenever it is turned off. I usually have to wait five minutes before starting the car again. I have written to them repeatedly but no reply. Im currently getting legal advice concerning this.
I would like to know why I got rust spot on the side trim of the door on the back by the window between the back and front door of my 2004 Mazda3. I had it on both sides of my back doors. The body shop said he has never heard or seen that before on any door of any vehicle. It is under the trim and the only way to fix it is to replace the whole door. So, I would be disappointed that I have a car that is this nice and have something like this. This is why I would tell people not to buy because there is no excuse for this to happen.
At approximately 2 years old, my car started tripping the check engine light and AT light. So, I took it to the dealership to have it checked out. It had around 26,000 miles at the time. They cleared the light and said a cable must have been loose or something. Fast forward two months and again, it was the same issue. But this was followed by leaving me stranded. I had it towed and they diagnosed it as low voltage, but werent sure if it was the battery or what. They would not move forward until the battery was replaced and apparently on a brand new car. Mazdas 3-year 36,000-mile warranty means absolutely nothing. Even though I have regular maintenance at the dealership and had it in at 24 months for the light, they would only cover 25% as it was now after 24 months. Batteries have a 12-month warranty before being pro-rated. Keep in mind, once you replace it, the exact same battery has a 3-year warranty. The battery itself even shows 36/60 on the outside. I called North American operations and they blew me off. I asked everyone else up the food chain and nothing happened. They wanted $155 for the battery at the dealership or $100 at Autozone. Ultimately, I had to buy a new battery. Since Mazda covers nothing at twice the price, I bought the one from Autozone which is a 36/8 year warranty. Mazda then proceeded to charge me $55 to put it in. Save yourself time, money, and sanity. Dont buy Mazda. And if you decide to anyway, dont buy from Suburban Mazda in Michigan. I originally bought 2 Mazda 6s from them in 2009 and they will be my last.
After 17.000 miles on my 2016 Mazda CX3 the driver’s side headlight housing failed and was filling up with moisture. MAZDA replaced it free of charge. The dealer tells me that Mazda is having trouble with these housings and that they have not put out a recall, Ok? At 40.000 miles it failed on the other side. MAZDA will not replace it. They say because I am 4.000 miles over the warranty. A 2 year old car and both headlights have failed. They want over $400+ labor. My first Mazda and my last if they can’t stand behind a 2 year old car and replace it. I would be willing to even pay for the labor at the dealer. Maybe someone here can get them to step up to the plate. Thank you.
I took my Mazda SUV for repair. The problem was the wheel bearing and the price to repair was $750.00 plus $135.00 for diagnostic totaling $885.82. I told the sales person, if you forgo the $135.00, I will have you fix it. To my surprise, she said no so I paid the $135.00 and left with my car. She did not only lose a job but she also lost a customer as well. This is not good customer service...
We bought a car from the Mazda dealership, a certified SUV CX-7 2008. A few months later, the car started acting up and the engine overheated. We took it in to the dealer and they told us the only problem was that of the thermostat. Thankfully, we had bought the extended warranty that covered this. They told us everything else was fine and that was the only problem they had come across. About six months later, the car still kept overheating and we noticed there was another leak. We took the car in and now they are saying it was a lack of maintenance from our part. The engine was blown and there was oil all over everything. They told us that if we proved we took care of the engine adequately, that our extended warranty would cover it. We did everything that we could and got all the receipts of the Synthetic Oil we had bought, got all our ducks in a row and handed them the evidence they needed. Now, they are saying that due to the sludge, the warranty can be void. At this point, I started doing research based on the fact that we did take care of our car and its oil was changed even before it had to. (A car is a major investment. Why would we not take care of it when were spending $700-$900 a month to keep this car?) Something wasnt right. I had to put two and two together. According to other Mazda CX7 owners, their engines started giving out at 40k-80k miles. I also talked to a mechanic who told me they believe the engine is overheating due to the turbo in the engine, causing everything to melt. I talked to the main Mazda mechanic about this and they said that they cant do anything but wait and see if the insurance will cover this and replace the engine. He said he knows about the problems people have reported but there is nothing he can do. Mazda is definitely a major rip off and scam. They scam people out of their money by giving them faulty cars that give out way before 100k miles and then tell them its because they didnt take proper care of their engines. Buyers, beware of Mazda and even their Platinum warranty. They will use every excuse to void this! Read all the reviews of unhappy customers! Mazda is definitely not owning up to this like they should. The Mazda CX 7 engine is no good!
I purchased my Mazda Cx-7 in December 2009. Only one week after my purchase, the engine light came on (12.17.09). I took my car to Sussman Mazda for service and they replaced a valve. Shortly after that, the engine light came on again (3.10). This time, a timing chain/belt was replaced. A couple of months later, the engine light came on again with the car now needing a transmission sensor replaced (10.10). On June 25, 2011, the engine light came on again. I took the car back and was told that the car could not be seen until June 28. I decided to keep the car there due to the driving condition while taking the car to the dealer. On June 28, I never received a phone call and had to call the dealer. I was informed that the machine that read the problems with Mazda cars was currently broke, and they had no idea when the machine would be fixed. While waiting, I rented a vehicle, which was not covered by my warranty because they were not able to state what was wrong with the car. I was told that I should now pay for a tow truck to have my car taken to another dealer. I expressed that when my car was dropped off on 6.25.11, the machine was not broken; therefore, I should not be responsible for towing the car. The dealer indicated that they would try to fix the machine in the meantime and get back to me. While waiting, I contacted the Mazda headquarters concerning this matter. They concluded that Sussman would pay for the rental car. My car stayed with Sussman for about two-and-a-half weeks. Sussman dealer stated that they wont have a new machine anytime soon and they agreed to transport my car to North Penn dealership, which concluded that my car needed a new turbo and possibly a new engine. Im very confused on how a car, which was purchased not even two years ago, would need so much work. I recently picked up my car on August 4, 2011. It is my understanding after completing some research that the Mazda Cx-7 has had several issues concerning the engine in the later models. I conclude this letter by stating that service at Sussman was horrible. This is my first experience with Mazda cars and based on this, I would never recommend this vehicle. I hope that you can shed some light on this matter concerning engine concerns. Also, until this day, Sussman has yet to phone me concerning the rental car fee, after copies of the receipts were sent for over $900 in payment. I look forward to hearing from someone in the near future.
This car (Mazda 2010 CX-9) has had 3 unexpected accelerations since last November 2012. These incidents are terrifying. Mazda is aware of the problem. Do not buy this car. It is dangerous. I had my car for 9 months before the first incident. The brakes do not bring the car to a stop. I have to pump them and it feels like air. All 3 incidents have been on the highway. I was fortunate enough to get off on the median without killing myself, my passenger or other people on the road. This car is dangerous and a lemon. My car is at the Mazda dealer now. The dealer is helpless to help me because Mazda Corp has tied their hands and do not want to have millions of dollars spent on recalls.
Mazda roadside charged me to use a towing company to pick up my vehicle and take it in for service. My vehicle never made it to the service department, they kept my car and wanted to charge me additional to tow again. I was not able to retrieve my vehicle so I lost to towing company. I called the bank they retrieve the vehicle and repoed. The car was auctioned off. Now it shows on my credit report. Im having a hard time getting a vehicle due to open loan.
This car is beautiful, sleek, drives nice, very comfortable. Takes the curves really nicely, great trunk space, great speakers, very sporty. I love the interior. Love the front of the car, so long and sleek. I would recommend it to anyone whos interested in a cute, comfortable sports car.
I took my car (Mazda RX-8) in late night on 7/1/2012. I filled out the form stating my AC was less than optimum. I also told them the coolant light was coming on but not staying on and that the car was not overheating. I called the dealer at 4:30 on 7/2/2012 to check on the status. I was told they were getting prices and would call me back. When they called back, the quote was $400 for a sensor and sub tank. I declined the service since it was just a light issue. They quoted a repair of an AC control at $889.59 plus taxes that came to $1000.08. One has to have air in Memphis, so I authorized the repair. When I arrived to pick up the car, they read the repairs performed to me and stated there was damage to the AC face plate during prior work (Quote from invoice - the face plate is already damaged inside from someone doing prior work, but all seems okay though). I stated that the AC had never been worked on by anyone other than the Mazda dealer. I paid for the service, $1000.08, got in my car to find that the radio did not work and there were no lights on the radio/temp display nor were the lights on the AC controls working. I went right back in the shop to notify them. I was informed that there was no one available to look at the car because it was late on 7/3 and the next day was a holiday. The tech called Gary, who said they would send someone to pick up my car at my work on 7/5/2012. They came and got it. It was at the shop for a couple of hours when Gary called back to inform me the problem was with the face plate. The cost of this repair would be around $500. He stated that the displays were working at that time but he didnt know if it would last. They brought the car back to me. I made it less than a mile before the radio and the Ac controls went out. I smacked the dashboard and they came back on. The next morning, the same thing happened again. I have never once had a problem with my radio and AC controls before Garys team took it apart. If it had truly been damaged (by Mazda in a prior service), one would think in seven years, I would have had the problem prior to this service. I have placed a call to the Service Department manager, with no response as yet.
08 Mazda cx9 - My transfer case has to be replaced and the dealer is saying even though it is covered under warranty that I have to pay $1500 because my tires caused this problem... Never heard of this. Sounds like a manuf. defect and am I getting screwed? Has anyone had this problem and why does transfer case go? Talked to different service mech and I am being told that it has nothing to do with the tires? Calling corporate about this, any other suggestions?
I own a Mazda CX7. I received the Mazda notice concerning the timing chain quite a few months back. I actually went to have the car checked due to the notice, and I found that there was a problem with mine. This is no lie, what I am about to tell you. On the way back from the shop, my timing chain broke! This caused an enormous amount of damage, and thereby I have incurred a huge bill to have this fixed. I contacted Mazda Corp and explained that I had no way to indicate that I have had all the oil changes done due to the fact that my husband changes our oil on all our cars. They said to me that I have no recourse and there are no loopholes for my situation. They will not honor the situation.I am extremely disappointed in the service and the behavior of Mazda Corp. I have recently learned that others have experienced this same problem. Even though Mazda knew that there was a problem and thereby sent the notice in the first place, they are still unwilling to fix the problem or take care of the monetary damages. I am asking everyone who reads this and has had a problem with Mazda concerning this situation to contact me because I am going to file a Civil Suit against Mazda, but we must join forces in order to do this. Thank you.
Purchased a 2007 cx-9 in 2009 from dealer with 19k miles. Great looking car. First problem was tire life. The original Bridgestone Duelers lasted 29k, and yes, proper inflation and rotation, and alignment. Subsequent sets met with only marginal improvement. Went with Perreli Scorpions, and Yokohamas. At 99k, last week, I foolishly purchased a new set of Michelins (60k warranty). My plan was to drive this thing until those tires were shot, and call it a day. Mind you, Ive met or exceeded all service schedules, to include flushing the tranny last spring. Heres a short list of the problems with the cx-9: Drivers door seal leaks creating excessive noise in cabin. AC controls are intermittent between front and rear compartment. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. Power doors refuse to lock as the indicator light states I have a door open. Both keyfobs failed, and dealer wanted in excess of 300 to replace and reprogram. I opted with using the hard key, but had to have that programmed. Passenger door window wont go all the way down. Dealer had two attempts to fix that, and its doing it again. Now for the biggies: 60K Pass side rear wheel bearing went, $500.00. Then, Huge clunking noises coming from somewhere in front end suspension. I replaced tie rod ends, and stabilizers with greasable Moog fittings. Still have the clunk noise. Learned this was due to failed lower ball joints on the control arm. I was heartened to hear that a recall was pending and made the appointment with the dealer after my tire installer confirmed my suspicion. Within one week of putting the tires on and Within days of scheduling my ball joint/control arm repair, my wife pulls up the driveway and the sound coming from the drive-train was like she was dragging a washing machine behind the car. I will limp it into the dealer tomorrow a.m. to find that at minimum, I will need a new transfer case. This is completely unacceptable! If you take care of your vehicle, as I have, this stuff should not happen! I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER MAZDA.... and shame on you Ford Motor Co for supplying the POS parts on this vehicle without proper vetting.
Mazda customer service is useless! They do not bother once you have bought the car! Stay clear, buy another make! Mazda keeps on making alibis and finally turns down customer complaints. Mazda installed a tail light that burned both tail light housing. I reported this for replacement but Mazda strongly turned down the request. They even used ego tripping words that means they are still untouchable and they can turn down any customer despite of their world renowned factory defects. Where can users effectively complain Mazda customer neglect? Please help! With the poorest after sales service, Mazda should not be in the car business. I have used Toyota and Honda for ten years and I have not had any traumatic experience that I have on my first month in using Mazda.
I have a 5 day old 2018 Mazda CX-9 GT. It is a very good and fun-to-drive SUV. I recently have some issues playing my iPod iTunes playlists from connections to the USB1 and USB2 ports. It is an intermittent problem not recognizing and not able to play the songs from the playlist. It is very frustrating and disappointing considering that I paid top $ for this SUV and I am now faced with this media problem. I will report this to the Mazda dealership first thing in the morning tomorrow since it is barely a week old.
I was driving to the city and suddenly I start hearing a faint tapping/knocking sound at low revolution per minute (rpm). I continued to drive to the city and took care of my business, and then came back home at the end of the day with no problems besides the fact that there was always that faint knocking sound at low rpm.The next day, I brought it to my local mechanic. He said the car is drivable, but I should bring it to Mazda because it is under warranty, and they should take care of it. I had the car towed to them because I didnt have the time to drive there, and I had free towing from Mazda since my vehicle is still under warranty.I called them every day until the third day they told me that there is a hole in my engine and oil was leaking out, and they wanted to see my oil change receipts. When I heard them tell me that, I said immediately that they must have the wrong car because my car came in running with no problems that they stated. There was no oil on the floor. I had checked the oil before it came to them, and it was perfect. My car was drivable. I obliged to their request because Mazda is a big corporation that must surely work honestly with their customers. I also figured that they were exaggerating when they said all of this. I sent them the information. After calling them repeatedly, they finally told me a week later that my receipts looked sketchy” and that Mazda Corporation wouldnt cover the warranty. I proceeded to tell them that their claim is totally false and impossible. I had the oil changed every 3-4 months, approximately 2500 miles (I drive locally and take the train to school). Then they proceeded to send it again to Mazda Corporation after I told them that there is a problem on their part. Again, they denied the warranty work. So, I went down to pick up the car after three weeks because I need my car. When I turned on the car, it sounded like a tractor and then would die on its own. I tried to start it up again and give it some gas, and the rpm fluctuated, then it dies. It was clearly not the condition that it was when I brought to them. The check engine light was on, and they said that I told them that it was knocking. My car was not drivable; it was in significantly worse shape and value than when I brought it to them. They gave me the runaround the whole time I was trying to correspond with them. The assistant manager, Jim, had a regular advisor deal with the situation, which is naive and lacking in responsibility on his part. This advisor just started two weeks prior and clearly didnt know anything. I asked him how this was possible. He kept on saying that he simply started two weeks ago, and he couldnt answer my questions. So, I said to him, “Can you get me someone who can get answers because you clearly cant help me.” He then raised his voice and made threats; so, I did the same. Then the manager came in and took over partially. He told me to call Mazda customer service, which I did right then and there. The customer service representative told me that I needed to deal with the dealership. After going back and forth between the dealership and the customer service, I left without my car because I didnt anticipate having to tow my car.The following week, I paid for a towing service to bring my vehicle to my local mechanic. I brought it to my mechanic locally, and after looking it over it, it looked like they drained the oil, and ran the engine at high rpm until the problem got worse enough for them to tell what the problem was. They obviously have done this many times and are professionals at this. They know exactly what to say, and what story to stick by. They also put a dent on my car that I know for a fact wasnt there when I gave it to them. I took pictures of it.
Last Monday June 11th I was involved in a car accident in my 2012 Mazda CX-9. I want to say THANK YOU! For building an great quality vehicle. This vehicle saved my 3 childrens life and mine. The curtain airbags deployed right on time to prevent us from injuring our heads. My kids and I were able to walk out that wreck with not even a scratch. Thank you for protecting my family.
Yes, my wife and I have gone through five Mazdas in the course of fifteen years. We used to purchase European cars exclusively, but have since jumped off that ship! Quality control issues abounded with our European luxury cars. Anyhow, this is a Mazda review. First off, let me just say that people are most adamant about getting their voices heard when they are upset; it is human nature to complain. However, it isnt often that we will write home about positive experiences unless they were truly out of the ordinary. On that note, this has been my experience with Mazda in the past fifteen years. My wife and I purchased our 2001 Protege MP3 brand spanking new, off the lot, in late 2000 after our BMW 325s engine failed completely. We had the MP3 for about five years and clocked in 260,000 miles. In that amount of time, the trunk started to retain water after 50,000 miles. What did we do? We removed the plugs in the trunk to let water out; PROBLEM SOLVED. At around 100,000 miles, a clunk started to appear in the rear end of our MP3. As it turns out, the bushings were bad on the rear sway bar. We upgraded to polyurethane and problem was solved. At around 160,000 miles, the rubber intake hose developed a crack so we installed a cold air intake. PROBLEM SOLVED. In 2005, we were t-boned when a motorist failed to stop. Our poor yellow MP3 was totaled; it went to automotive heaven and was dearly missed. Overall experience with the MP3: smiles every time we drove the car. The MP3 did not have the best fit and finish, had a harder sport-tuned suspension, and had more road noise, but we felt so connected to the car each time we drove it. We decided to purchase a brand new 2006 Mazda6 S (V6 manual) off the lot after the death of the MP3. We loved the little 6, which was roomier than the MP3 and much more upscale. The double wishbone suspension made U-turns a hassle, but boy was it fun to take around twisties. In 2009, we decided to purchase another vehicle so we opted for the 2009 Mazda6 GT, which- unfortunately - was only offered in an automatic. The 2009 was certainly more of a blast in a straight line (much more hp than the 2006) but was somehow lacking in overall driving connection. Additionally, Mazdas decision to switch to MacPherson struts somehow made the car feel more tame. After clocking in 89,000 miles on the 2009 MZ6 we traded it in for a used 2007 Mazda5 (only 12,000 miles and a manual transmission! ) in the summer of 2012 because our family grew to a size of four (two more kids) overall. In the fall of 2013, the Mazda5s thermostat went out, so that was a $40 fix and 30 minutes of my life taken away. Afterwards, the throttle body on the MZ5 gave out on us in 2014 at 95,000 miles. It was a $180 purchase for a new OEM TB, plus $15 for new coolant and 20 minutes of my life. It was around this time that we decided to purchase a ‘14 Mazda3 Sport (manual) in February 2014 because my wife and I absolutely fell in love with the cars aesthetic. We drove the car out the lot at $21,500 with huge smiles on our faces. It is now February 2015 and we still have our 2006 Mazda6 S (128,300 miles), 2007 Mazda5 S (112,200 miles), and 2014 Mazda3 S (3,111 miles). In the years that we have owned the 06 Mazda6, we have only had to change the oil, brakes, tires, and coolant. NOTHING MECHANICAL BROKE DOWN. As for the Mazda5, the biggest issues were only the thermostat and throttle body, which set us back less than $300. The 14 Mazda3 is still too new, but no issues have arisen yet.Overall, our collective experiences with our Mazdas have been very pleasant. We conducted extensive reviews before our purchases and we had realistic expectations of Mazdas flaws in their cars (bumpy suspension, increased road noise, etc), so not once did we feel cheated by Mazda (or anyone else for that matter.) However, for every day that we drive our cars, we love the experience. Sure, they arent Porsches or Ferraris, but for the money, they were certainly a pleasure to drive. Plus, can you fit five people and 30 cubic feet of cargo in a Ferrari? I think not. This has been our experience with Mazda. Who knows, we might be outliers in Mazdas brand quality? We intend on getting the ND Miata soon as well. I hope this review was helpful.
Recently I purchased a 2015 Mazda MX-5, color zeal red. Damn what a beautiful car!!! I saw the car for the first time about a month ago, and test drove it. On the test drive the car accelerated on its own as I rounded the corner to enter the freeway. The salesperson sitting in the passenger seat said, Whats happening? Heck if I knew. As I depressed the break pedal the car accelerated. This happened a couple to a few times within about ten seconds as I would let up on the break and then apply the break again. Finally the car was back in control. The salesperson wanted to take over the driving so I let him. No problems the short distance back to the dealership. The salesperson said the car acted weird because I was most likely me getting confused in which pedal to use test driving the car. I purchased the car. I know what youre thinking. That I was pretty stupid for buying the car based on the test drive experience. Okay, I agree. The car has about 170 miles on it and this rapid acceleration on its own has happened a total of six times. I scheduled to take the car into University Mazda (This is where I purchased the car) on Nov. 25, 2014 to see if they could figure out why the car was accelerating on its own. On my way to the dealership the car dramatically accelerated on its own as I was breaking to avoid hitting the car in front of me. In order to slow the car down I shifted into neutral. The dealership had the car for one day and their guess as why the car is accelerating on its own is because I have the drivers seat too close to the steering wheel, and that Im getting confused in what Im doing with my right foot as Im driving. Hows that for high tech diagnoses? Forget the fact that I own a truck and Prius, and have had about eighteen cars in my life time. Ive never had this same problem with rapid acceleration with any of my other cars or truck. Look, I may have been stupid to buy the car in the first place, but Im sure not going to be even more stupid to buy some cheap dime store reasoning by the dealership for why the car is accelerating on its own.
To all owner of Mazda 2007-2013 Grand touring model. This car has around 62 K miles on it and solely serviced at Peterson Mazda dealer which I bought the car from, in Huntington Beach, California. About a month or so the car was serviced as scheduled and the inspection revealed nothing out of the ordinary. I was informed that eventually, I have to change the brake pads within 6 months or so. There was about 1/3 left on them. Without any warning of any kind, the brakes quit working and the car was not driveable. I thank God that my kids were not with me. The only way I came to a full stop was to downgrade to the 1st gear and apply the emergency brake. I recall I was on the freeway and the car had to be towed to my place. I replaced the disks, put new pads front and rear and the car still was not breaking. I took the car back to the dealer thinking that the master cylinder was defective and need replacing and I was ready to bit my tongue and pay for it since my warranty just expired at 60K. To my surprise I was told that there is a factory recall on the brake boosters and the replacement is free. I was outraged by the fact that we were not informed of this potentially dangerous issue, and I was told that it is on the need to know or repair basis and that the dealer is not liable since Mazda would not reimburse the cost of the repair, which averages $400 or so. Thanks a lot, Mazda. It is almost as bad as the exploding gas tank from the Ford Pinto back in the days. Do yourself a favor call your dealer and let them know about those boosters. Your life is at risk. For the record, I rarely write reviews but this time I felt obligated to inform the public about the shady dishonest behavior that Mazda is conducting and my life and kids life is worth more than your pathetic $400. Signed a teacher and very unhappy customer.
My 2007 Mazda 6 4 cylinder engine failed with only 107,000 KM. This was 7000 KM after my warranty expired. The whole engine needs to be replaced as it was a catastrophic failure. I had fully maintained my car at the Mazda dealer, changed the oil on schedule every time and had only Mazda technicians working on my car. Mazda Canada would only cover 33% of the replacement engine. This will be the last Mazda I ever buy, very displeased with Mazda Canadas lack of concern for their own reputation and customers.
Just out of warranty my passenger window motor broke. I had to buy a new motor off the internet because the dealership wanted six times the price for the part. Then a year later the driver outside door handle broke. Four months later the same handle broke again. I didnt realize but the other handles dont get as much use but theyre starting to show theyre starting to give. I will not be buying a Mazdas again and this car (Mazda cx7 2010)was not cheap.
While the 2014 cx-5 has some nice features such as blind spot monitor, (which is kind of necessary since rear visibility is not that great) it has some quirks that I dont like. If you live in the hills, the fancy moving headlights are horrible, visibility on low beams drops off so that if you are traveling up or down hill you have to put on your brights to see. We have the touring model which has a push button start but no button on the door so you have to pull out the fob to enter the car. A minor inconvenience but the most annoying thing I discovered the hard way is that if the fob drops out of your purse into the seat, and you lock the door, you will get locked out of your car. We had Push button start Nissans for 8 years and if you tried to lock the door with the fob inside it would alert you with a beep and open the doors. In the Mazda, you just get locked out. The final issue is the climate control knob. Shortly after purchase, the climate control knob would not stay on defrost and the air wasnt coming out of the vents it was supposed to. We contacted the dealership and they checked it and fixed it, but a month later it did the same thing. We contacted them again and they said that Mazda was aware of the problem and they had to special order a part by vin # to correct it. We had it fixed a second time and its been 3 weeks and the climate control wont click into defrost again! The dealership has been good about wanting to fix it, but so far they havent been able to figure it out. The dealership said our cx-5 was not the only one with this issue. Perhaps they have fixed some of these quirks with the 2015 /2016 models? I wont buy one again. Im going back to Nissan.
AIRBAG DEPLOYED ON MY 2001 MAZDA MPV - In May of 2014, the airbag on the passenger side front seat deployed while I was sitting at gas-n-go after pumping gas. My daughter was sitting in the seat. It cause deep bruising to her back and cracked her rib. Now Im afraid to drive it!
My 2013 CX-5 broke down in the middle of the highway while my wife was driving. She got too scared and was able to exit and call the tow company. Engine light came on. Car sputters and almost stalled. Later dealer replaced 2 coils and 2 spark plugs. Other many small issues with this dealer too (Gyro Mazda in Toronto). I have MAP (Mazda-added protection). But when I try to find out exactly what is covered, service says they dont know, see sales and sales says service know. I dont know if this problem with only this dealer or all Mazda dealers like this.
In 2005 I purchased new Mazda 3, it never gave me any problems. I traded it in for a 2016 Mazda 6. After app. 6 months the vehicle started jerking forward when I moved the car from Park to Drive. I took the car in to be checked and they advised me the transmission had to be replaced. I am somewhat disappointed; however, Im glad it went out prior to the warranty expired.
We have seen a host of complaints on the internet, including the ** website about reliability issues on relatively new Mazda SUVs. In our specific case, both the LED lights on our 2016 CX-5 went out in under 40K miles. They cost a whopping ~$1100 to replace... each! Mazda corporate replaced one, but when the second one went out at 40K, said its not a reliability issue. The entire cost of replacing just one assembly costs as much as 3 years of standard maintenance costs. Were done with Mazda. In contrast, Subaru fixed an engine issue (twice, both times well out of warranty) at their expense just to stand by their brand.
I own a Mazda CX-5, that I bought without a warranty because of the great reviews about maintenance and service of the vehicle. Please do not make the same mistake! Mazda will not assist with any rare malfunctions that may happen to your vehicle! They will tell you the car is outside the warranty and anything is possible. They can not explain what caused your malfunction or why it’s possible other than its outside the warranty and anything is possible! The Mazda Corporate office will NOT accept responsibility for any malfunctions!
I had purchased a 2000 Mazda V6 from an independent dealer. He sold the car with no warranties. I purchased my car on 3/5/12 and less than five hours after I had the car, my engine blew. The owner does not want to fix my engine nor refund me the amount that it will cost for me to put another one in the vehicle. The car was $2,700 total. After weeks of trying to get the situation fixed, he said that he will put $350 towards another engine and I have to pay the rest. That is not fair to me as a consumer because I didnt have the car long enough to blow the engine and I feel like I should not have to pay out of my pocket to replace it.
I had plugs changed 3k ago on my Mazda Tribute and one blew out the other day. It broke the coil off. Dealer is charging me $500 to drill out and install sleeve and new spark plug. They suggested that if it happens again, the head is bad and will have to be replaced for cost of $1500 or so. Apparently, this happens with Fords a lot and as I see here, Mazdas too. It is a commonly occurring quality issue that should be addressed by the manufacturer. Obviously, it weakens the threads when changed at 100k. I had no problems before that then change the plugs and 3k later, one blows.
We just discovered a leak on the passenger side floor area when the AC is on. Removed the mat and the carpet was soaked. Musty smell followed. The dealer said that he had never heard this complaint for this model but did list a number of other models where the AC drain was clogged and required unclogging. Fine. This should not be happening. It will cost their hourly rate to diagnose the problem. Sounds like a design issue. On the drivers side there has also been a leak that occurs after a big rain. The water is puddled on the mat. The passenger side trickles down and under the mat. Any feedback would be helpful.
On January 20, I received a letter from Mazda Corporate due to certain issues with certain vehicles, including mine. From my understanding, the timing chain on certain models had turned out to be defective and this would extend the warranty for that specific part and problems caused by it to 70,000 miles. The letter advised that if the consumer experiences a ticking noise, they need to contact the closest Mazda Dealership. Never experiencing any problems, as mentioned above, I got curious and did some research which led me to find out that this problem had affected many so I decided to schedule an appointment for Friday, February 3, to which I never made it to.About a week after receiving the letter, my Mazdas engine failed at 67,000 miles. I was stuck under pouring, cold rain trying to push it off the road. After getting it towed to the North Penn Mazda Dealership, I was notified the following morning that my vehicle was diagnosed with engine failure. I researched it and came to the conclusion that the connecting rod between the crank shaft and the piston has broken causing it to go through the engine block and make a hole. The Mazda technician that inspected it told me that the failure most likely was not related to the timing chain but to make an accurate statement, they would need to open up the engine for which I would have to pay $800.00 to $1,000.00. I opened a case file with the corporate, which after contacting the dealership, told me that since the damage most likely is not related to the timing chain, Mazda was not liable regardless the fact that the source of the problem was not diagnosed. After getting many opinions from other technicians, I came to the conclusion that there is nothing that I, as a responsible consumer, could have done to prevent this from happening and that the engine was most likely poorly manufactured. I looked more in this matter and with simple sources of research I found out that there had been numerous similar cases throughout North America. With that in mind, I contacted the Service Manager at the Mazda Dealership seeking for help but I was shut down with two words out of warranty. The service manager told me that he understands my frustration and that when one purchases a $25,000 vehicle they expect to get more than 67,000 miles out of it, however, there was nothing he could do after contacting his corporate representative. After sending many emails I received a response from Mazda customer service explaining that if I did authorize the diagnosis and it resulted to show manufacturing defect, Mazda would cover the expenses to fix the damage. I called to confirm the email and after investigating the case, a gentleman from the customer service department left me a voice mail confirming the information. The following day I received another call from customer service stating that Mazda would not honor the statement made on the email and that no assistance will be offered. I requested to speak to a manager who got back to me two days later. Mr. G stated that Mazda will not offer any assistance of any form regardless the outcome of the diagnosis and the email sent did not imply what it stated.Meanwhile my technician had diagnosed the issue and had concluded that the damage was caused by bad assembly, poorly put together and that should be covered by the manufacturer. The conclusion, if I want to be able to drive this car again, I will need $6,000.00 plus taxes to replace the engine which I had no fault and no contribution in breaking.
On July 25, 2015 my new 2016 CX-5 only two months old did not want to start. I checked the battery and it showed it had power but my car was as dead. I called my dealer at Lodi N.J. where I bought the car for advice and Rahsheed told me to call Mazda roadside assistance and I did. Spoke with a Mazda roadside assistant and told her what was going on with my car and she told me a flatbed tow truck will be at my location within a hour. One hour later comes the flatbed tow truck and I asked the driver if I could ride along and so I did. We get to Koeppel Mazda Queens NY. I tell the tow truck driver that I am going inside to let the manager know that we are dropping off my car. The manager Andrew ** steps outside with me and as the tow truck is backing up and bringing my new car down it scrapes and damaged my new Thule bike rack. Andrew the manager tells him to stop what he was doing and that the car needs to be lowered on the street. At this point the driver is getting frustrated and levels his flatbed truck in which he forgets to put the rear straps and chain hooks on the rear of my NEW CAR and also forgets to put my NEW Cx-5 off off of neutral and failed to put it in park and Failed to deploy the emergency parking brakes on my car. He then drives forwards, fast and slamming on his brakes causing my Brand New (Mazda CX-5 GT with Tech package) to shoot forwards and crashing into the back of his tow truck causing front end damage. Three Mazda certified workers seen the accident including the service department. Manager Andrew ** and I were all in shock on what just happened. Andrew and I took photos of the damaged SUV and Andrew told me that he would take care of the report. I advised Andrew that I don want my car back due to the loss of my resale value caused by Mazda. On 8/14/2015 I stopped by the repair shop that was fixing my car to get some things I left in the car. To my horror my car was in the back of the shop dirty with my whole SUV front end sitting on top of my cars roof, not to mention both my front windows was rolled down getting dust and dirt all over the place and not to mention there goes my new car smell and the body shop wasnt even certified Mazda repair shop. I know that when a new car rolls off the assembly line everything is calibrated, the transducer in the front of my Mazda emblem with the laser on my windshield work hand in hand so that my auto brake assist work properly. Now my new car will have a damage report on carfax that I did not cause, all Mazdas fault. Why did my new car did not want to start in the first place? It was only two months old with just 2000 miles on it. Mazda Roadside assistance contracted the tow truck company NYC Tire Auto Care Inc. The incident happened in front of multiple employees of Mazda (Manager: Andrew ** (Service department associate: Izzy ** and two others from Parts Department that will vouch what happened. I will now lose thousands of dollars on my trade in when I decide to trade inmy 2016 CX-5. I stated that I dont want my car back to every Mazda personnel I spoke with due to the fact that it was Mazdas fault. I just want a brand new CX-5 with everything I put in but sadly I am getting the runaround. Even my insurance company called in my behalf and they also getting the runaround.
Please let it be known that I nor my family will EVER be buying another Mazda ever again and I will be making it very public about how Mazda “helps” their customers. I leased a 2016 Mazda CX-5 after thinking it was the best decision for my family. I am now 8 months pregnant with my second child, have had the car for less than 2 years and the display screen is glitching. I found out it needs an infotainment display screen that will cost me $1200+. This is a MANUFACTURER issue and according to dealerships a known issue with these cars. It’s nothing I did and Mazda’s response back to me was, We can cover most of it but you will still have to pay about $400. So let me get this straight. I am LEASING and planned on financing what was at the time a brand new car in which a display screen went in less than 2 years which is a manufacturer issue so I cannot check any maintenance, no radio, etc. and I’m ** out of luck with getting it fixed? Great job Mazda. NEVER AGAIN.
Mazda MX-5 drain system design flaw. Mazda NA does not care. I had a very similar experience to previous post by Daniel of Palo Alto, CA on Feb. 2, 2011. Mazda North America customer service seems happy to lose a lifetime of customer loyalty for a $10 parts and maybe $100 labor fix that was a known issue since mid-production year 2006-2007. I should have been notified or the quick fix should have been done at one of the many visits to the dealership I had between 2008 and 2010 (over $16k in invoices over those years). I cannot begin to speak how angering it was that customer service insisted the entire Mazda NA Operations does not have access to Technical Service Bulletins (TSB), and therefore it would be up to the dealership to cover the fix for a manufacturing design flaw if they desired. I told the rep that the dealership actually pointed the other way citing that Mazda NA has to decide to cover it free of charge since it is not the dealership that designed the drain system. I told the rep that I want to speak with another more experienced agent or a supervisor to confirm that. The rep flat out flipped the script citing, No. No other agent or supervisor can help you. I am sorry you do not understand that. I am sorry that you interpret what I said that way. I am sorry that no one here can help you. I am ending this call now. Are you serious?! Are they trying to hurt market share? I personally will not be buying a Mazda again unless I have disposable income for a disposable car. The damage to their reputation in North America has been done in my eyes.
At 54,000 miles, our Mazda 08 CX turbo went out. We had it towed to the dealer where we bought it and they said the turbo had sludge in it. Every time we had our oil changed, they would say our oil is dirty and low. How is this possible when we did regular oil changes? Now, doing a little research on our model year, it turns out that many people have had this very same issue, with the same results. Mazda will not warranty the part without service records. Well, I dont have all my oil change receipts for the last 5 years, so now what? Mazda even extended the warranty for the turbo because they know its bad. Has anyone been able to get this part fixed under warranty? If so, tell me how you did it so I can get this done. Thanks.
I bought two CX-5s within a month of each other. One Certified and one was not. Both cars had the same problem the first month of ownership. Totally worn out brakes on both rotors on both cars were extremely rusted. Neither was covered by Integrity Mazda in Chattanooga, TN. I contacted all kind of people. Finally ended up with Mazda Corporation. They were as worthless as the dealership. I am now working on a commercial with Honda to tell people that changing to another car is a huge mistake. Never had these issues with Honda.
I purchased my 2008 Mazda Tribute brand new. The first year (8 months after purchase), I noticed a sound in my car. I quickly took it to the dealer I purchased my car from. As soon as I pulled up to the dealership, the mechanic told me that it was a belt and was easy to fix at $150. He informed me that a lot of Tributes had been coming in with this issue, but not a big deal. I had it fixed. There were a few minor issues afterwards. Fast forward 2 years later, my car mysteriously would not start. I would have to catch a cab to work. When I called a mechanic to come out to take a look at my Mazda, it started (what!). This went on for about 6 months. I went on a trip to NY and once again it would not start. The dashboard cluster defaulted; cost to fix was $1000. I took it to a certified dealer and while fixing it, they informed me that I also had a transmission leak which would cost me $1500 to fix. At this time, a recall notice had been mailed and I was unaware of this issue. I needed my car being a single mother of 3; I had no choice. Fast forward to present day, 2013, about a week ago, my car started making loud noises. I took it back to the dealer I purchased my car from. Guess what! My transmission has to be replaced cost $3600 (really!) and I had to pay $100 for them to tell me that. Unfortunately, I was one of the millions hit with layoffs; no income. I called Mazda corporate and informed them that I was not aware of the recall notice sent out in 2011. The customer service rep informed me that there wasnt a recall and that I was misinformed. I informed her that I got the information off their website and from the dealership. She was not empathetic to my situation. I understand that my warranty expired. However, I feel that a recall should never expire. If you are aware that a defected part has been placed in your product, you have a responsibility to replace. I paid $17,000 for my car. With all the service issues, Im close to $7000 in repairs and towing fees - almost half the cost of the car. This is not fair to me and others, who work hard all our lives, especially when my car only has 75,000 miles and Im the only owner and now when money is nonexistent to me. Please do not purchase a Mazda. It’s a money pit.
Bought a used Mazda CX-7 July 2016. July 2017 the left front control arm broke while driving down the road. Had my mechanic make the repairs to the car. Sept 2017 I get notice that there is a recall on the issue that occurred. Had the car to Mazda dealer August 2018 and repairs were made as per the recall but now Mazda USA does not want to reimburse me for the repairs made by my mechanic in July 2017 since it was done after the August 10, 2016 date of the recall which I knew nothing about till Sept 2017 when I got the first notice of the recall. Finally got them to look at the info but now they are using the fact that I dont have a bank statement from July 2017 showing the repairs were paid with my Visa when the slip from the garage is clearly marked paid Visa. Big company just looking for any possible loophole to get out of owning up to their mistakes.
I went to see and purchased a used car from Mazda of Palm Beach. Almost none of the features on the carfax ad were correct. The dealer claims it is Carfax issue. I never would have paid the price I did had I known the complete options on the car.
So Mazda has kidnapped my mothers car for 3 weeks now. My mom is not very well in English and sometimes gets taken advantage of and I feel like MAZDA HAS FULLY TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF MY MOM. We had my uncle call and my brother even called so this morning I have decided to call for her cause I wanted to know if she was EVER GETTING HER CAR BACK. She has to work so I called and asked for the person in charge of my mothers car and the little girl on the phone told me, Ok. Yes he’s in so she transfer me to the VOICEMAIL so NO HE WAS NOT IN (LIES). I left a voicemail for JASON and then calling back to Mazda the little girl picks up the phone and I tell her, Life is kinda hard right now for my mother and her and I don’t see eye to eye sometimes living together (I’m putting this nicely cause she really pissed me off) and that little girl had the nerve to tell me, You need to take care of your mom. Little girl you don’t have the right to tell ANY customers that about their family. You guys have had my mothers car for 3 weeks now with no answers. She bought her car in 2016 and how the hell does the transmission just mess up like that and then finding out they don’t even do an engine check in your car when you go and get an oil change. Stoney Trail Mazda has the worst service/callbacks and rude service people EVER. You guys need to work on your people skills and maybe get a new girl to pick up the phone for service cause she had no clue what’s she’s doing... One more thing my mother had to rent a car and pay it with her own money cause Mazda said that her plan didn’t cover it. They also said they would try there headrest to fix it and try to cover her car rental and NOPE that was another lie... Youre better off taking your car to another mechanic that!!!
I purchased a Mazda RX8 in 2004. Since the date of purchase, I have been experiencing many problems with the vehicle. To this date, the vehicle only has 40,000 miles. If the vehicle remains idle for 3 days or more it has to be towed in for repairs. The dashboard panel goes blank. Now, the dealership is telling me the cause of the problem is the engine failing compression test and thats a cost for the consumer when I have complained about the vehicle since day of purchase. Records shows each time the vehicle been in the job. The vehicle is practically new.
Just wanted to mention that my 2009 Mazda CX7 with 39K miles needed a new transmission. It would not go in reverse one morning. Extended warranty covered the cost minus deductible but Im very leery of buying another Mazda.
Transmission failed for the second time. First brand new car after mothers death using her Ford 1993 T-Bird. I researched the Honda Del Sol, which I liked before getting discouraged and after one year waiting for my order to arrive, I bought 1996 Mazda 626 in 1996 (being the first and only owner of this car I did not investigate like I did with the Del Sol). In 2002, had transmission fail, water pump, air conditioner, timing belt. Mazda, of course, did take responsibility. I see after reading the countless complaints on this site it is a company that does not stand behind their product. As of 8/2011, not only the transmission is gone but catalytic converter should be replaced (if I want to pass smog). Mazda said it was all my doing and wash the grease from their hands. I see after reading the countless complaints on this site it is a company that does not stand behind their product. I will never by a Mazda again. Sincerely, an extremely broke consumer.
I leased a Mazda 3, hatchback in August 2016. At my 10k servicing at the dealership, they indicated unusual wearing of tires. I asked for them to be replaced. They said no, it was a limited warranty on the tire. At 15k servicing, the same conversation. At 20k, the same conversation. Found out these tires on a new car, have no mileage warranty... at all. The dealership will not replace the tires. At 32 months of the lease and 22,700 miles they will do nothing. I like the car, but not the tires, and Mazda will do nothing, as the dealership watches a customer complain, and knows it is a problem. Others have complained about the same thing. I would not purchase or lease another auto from Mazda, or Groove Mazda, in Centennial. Really poor support of a customer. Not what anyone wants.
I bought my 2010 Mazda CX-9 Touring AW Drive new. Around 17,000 miles the car started making popping noises at take off and when reversing. We took it to our authorized dealer. They called and said they didnt hear anything, after driving it several times. Drove the car some more and sound got worse. Took it back in and they told me it was my brakes. They changed a cylinder in the brakes but the technician couldnt get the brakes to work after changing it. They had my car over a week. Got the car back and the noise was still happening. I continued to drive it. One night, my husband and I had people flagging us down to stop. We had flames shooting out the back end of the CX-9. The fire department came quickly and put out the fire. Vehicle was towed to dealer. They found the transfer case had leaked out all of its sludgy oil. Mazda corporate technician was brought in to look at the case. It had 27,000 miles and still under warranty. The transfer case was replaced and the dealer had my car another 5 weeks. A warning light came on during the fire or before. Now, at 110,000 miles the car started making a loud whining noise after reaching 40 mph. I took it right in. After 2 weeks of having my car the dealer said it was the transfer case and a wheel bearing. I assumed they were fixing it and 2 weeks passed again. They called and told me it needed a new transmission now, too!! I have to have it fixed but will trade it ASAP!! They have had my car for almost 6 weeks. Called Mazda Corp. and they refused to help at all. They said since one transfer case was replaced by warranty that even if the car was recalled, I couldnt receive another part. I would have to pay out of pocket. Mazda knows there is problem with the transfer cases and knows it can lead to transmission failure but they refuse to recall the vehicles affected!
Front Axle on 2005 Mazda 6 - I just drove from Clemmons to Wendover Avenue in Greensboro and suddenly the front of the car sounds like I drove over a boulder and the engine fell out. I managed to coast to Sheets Gas Station. The car would turn on but would not go forward in drive or reverse. Called a tow truck and took it to the Mazda Dealership. The front axle is broken... I could not imagine how though... have not run into anything or rear ended anyone. I just had the axle worked on in Hickory. Not happy but blessed it was not the transmission.
I have previously owned 2 Mazdas. The last Mazda 6 was totaled in accident. As I recovered, I began to decide on a replacement vehicle. I was drawn to Mazda. The new 6s do not have the same sporty look as my previous 6, so I considered other styles. As we were test driving several vehicles, including a 3, the salesman pointed us to a cx-7 under the dealership awning. He pointed out the incredible deal due to the enormous vinyl windshield cover at $21,999.00. We test drove the 7 and decided on this vehicle. The salesman had us consider owning this vehicle versus another 7 with lesser options for similar retail. Inside, another man entered the cubicle to inform us that the windshield cover had been put on the wrong vehicle. I am familiar with signing and obligation, so relevance here is the constant. The vehicle was not just on the lot, but in a hot spot under the awning and according to the conversation, had been signed wrong since at least the previous day.I did not purchase a vehicle from the dealership that day or since then and have been deliberating on the most respectful way to handle this situation. I look forward to action to rectify this unusual situation.Cordially,Lucy
I bought my CX7 new in September 2007. I love the vehicle except for its very poor reliability. It has cost me in excess of $2000 a year to maintain this vehicle. Most parts that fail are notorious for failing but Mazda either wont cover the cost or their extended warranty is so meager it doesnt apply to my vehicle because of the mileage e.g. AC compressor; Oxy Sensor. I just discovered that my engine bay high pressure fuel pump is not working properly. I replaced the one in fuel tank 8 months ago and if it fails, it can wreck the engine. Mazda wants $1400 for the part! A better quality aftermarket part is available for less than half this price. Also, the Oxygen sensor on the Cat Converter has to be replaced at huge cost. I replaced the other one eight months ago. Together my current repair bill will be about $2000 including labor. You can find lots of stories just like mine on the internet (e.g. Edmunds).
Driving home three weeks ago, the check oil light came on in my car. As I was trying to exit to a safe location (I was on the highway), the check engine light came on and then the battery light came on. The engine was shot. I purchased the car last July. Mazda claims it was a faulty oil change and they will not cover the cost of the new engine. The car cost me $18,000. I purchased it last year after I got hit in an automobile accident that left my previous car totaled. I paid for the Mazda 2 in full. Now Continental Mazda in Naperville, IL is stating I need to spend another $5300 on a new engine due to a faulty oil change. Im devastated. They will not help me out nor will the $20 oil change company (obviously). Mazda needs to make this wrong situation right again.
Since I bought this car in July of 2012 with 54000 miles, its been an amazingly reliable car. It handles really good, good acceleration and very quick. I average about 40.5 mpg with a good amount of city driving. Its a very easy and fun to drive car. I still have the original tires on it with 79000 miles and still has a little bit of tread left. Im pretty surprised with the tires life, especially being a 45000 miles rated tire. Ive never had an issue or problem with it and I look forward to all the moments Ill have with this car.
Sold my 1990 Mazda 626 with roughly 225,000 miles on it back in 2005. The car was great, replaced master cylinder for the clutch and alternator in the 50,000 miles I had the car. The RX8 had no issues, it is a car that needs its oil checked often due to the design of the engine, and you have to drive it hard to clear the carbon off the tips. I took it to 9k almost everyday for 2 years with no issues on the car whatsoever. People that complain about engine failures are mostly idiots that shouldnt be driving a rotary to begin with. Mazda was nice enough due to the large amount of idiots blowing engines that they extended the warranty for all owners to 10 yrs 100k miles on the powertrain. The speed 3 I had for a few years as well, no problems besides a rear side window that had a slight imperfection upon delivery which was replaced by Mazda. Now I have a Mazda 6 2014. I have about 25k miles on it averaging about 30mpg. No issues whatsoever. I have seen the advertised 40mpg or above when going 60mph or less, but that never happens with me. In short Mazda is an amazing company with awesome products at an affordable price. People with cars that are almost 10 yrs old or older should not be able to leave comments about parts breaking, THE CARS 10 yrs OLD!! Step it up and get something newer or stop complaining.
I love my car. Living in Michigan, I needed a vehicle that handled well in snow but also with good gas mileage and being able to adjust the drivers seat is very important. After test driving several models, I was extremely impressed with Mazdas handling. I also love how the looks of the car. Its very stylish and its fun to drive. Definitely spend the extra money and get the navigation. I use it all the time. But I wish the rear seats were more comfortable. When test driving cars, I never thought to sit in the back. A word of advice, next time test driving, sit in the back and feel how your passengers are feeling.
At around 4:30 PM just last October 2, while traveling south at 30-35mph on Hunziker St. near Wall St. Tigard, OR. I had to center a piece of debris in the road and it struck and punctured the engine oil pan. This minor contact deployed both airbags which busted the windshield and knocked out my radio, vent louvers and rearview mirror. My research via the internet found this to be an issue with 95 Miatas. Please look into this issue to confirm if Mazda is responsible for the bags/glass/control module, sensors and switches. Understandably, the oil pan is my problem, and thank goodness I was not injured by the bags or fling glass and was able to maintain control of the vehicle.
My 2005 Mazda Tribute 2.7L V-6 5 Door right rear shock mount separated from the vehicle body. Basically the inner right rear wheel well arch house is rotting out from corrosion and the shock mount is unstable and detached from body. Since this is not uncommon, Im surprised there is not a recall on this between Ford Escape and Mazda Tributes. I also have an intermittent gear shift selector problem as in at most inopportune time the transmission will not allow you to shift out of park. Very frustrating, cannot pinpoint cause.
I bought a Mazda CX-5 cross over SUV in March. Overall - I like the car. I paired my Blackberry phone on AT&T to the Mazda system and I can make and receive wireless hands free calls - works well. When I receive emails I get a message that asks me if I want to download them for display on the LCD screen. When I click OK I get a message saying they can’t download the message and to try later. But of course there is never a later success. Has anyone seen a correction for this problem from Mazda?
Simply put, both Mazda and Town North Mazda (Dallas) do not back their product. My RX-8 has a second blown engine. It was just out of warranty by 2 weeks - tough luck.
I bought a CX7 8 days ago and its sitting in the shop. I was stuck with a friend 2 inches from traffic and 4 inches from running off the road. The shop that I was able to tow the car to says the engine was switched out. And nothing noted on Carfax. Also I HAVE NOT MADE MY FIRST PAYMENT ON THIS CAR. I WISH I COULD RATE THIS CAR A NEGATIVE BUT CANT BY THIS SYSTEM.
I bought my 2015 Mazda CX-5 from Fox Mazda in Grand Rapids, MI in February of 2018. At the time it had 31,000 miles on it. Last week, I went to start my cart and the engine started and then sputtered and died. After getting a tow, the Mazda dealership in WI (where I now live) has informed me that my high-pressure fuel pump has failed. Between the tow, labor, and parts it is going to be over $1,000 to repair an item that should not be breaking on a car with less than 50,000 miles. On top of that, the part is apparently back-ordered and I was told that it could take anywhere from a week to a month for them to get the part in. So now, I am without a car for an indeterminate amount of time as a result of fuel pump failure on a relatively new car with low miles.
NEVER BUY MAZDA. Auto friend, I need your help and your expertise are greatly appreciated. I have a 2016 Mazda CX9. I am fed up with MAZDA. I began having issues with my car prior to the powertrain warranty going out at 60,000 miles. My car began to idle very badly as if I had bad gas. The dealership suggested that I put in the fuel injection cleaner which I did. No resolution. I wasted money by advice of Dolan Mazda and paid out-of-pocket for new spark plugs for my vehicle. The issue was not resolved. Dolan then stated that the fuel pump went out which was the reason why my engine was full of gas and the car lost power. The fuel pump was replaced and the issue was not resolved. My car was transported to California because Mazda Reno does NOT have certified Mazda techs. My injectors and fuel injection system was updated in California yet The issue was not resolved. My car lost power again and I returned it to Reno. They stated that the throttle body went out which would cost $650. They replaced the throttle body. The issue Is still not resolved. I clearly have a lemon. Now they are telling me that they have to call the tech line because they have no clue why my vehicle will not run. Now they’re telling me there could be another issue as a result of the fuel pump going out and messing up the fuel injection. They said it was a domino effect that affected other issues on the car which is going be very expensive to repair. I have been without my car going on two months now and I’ve been going back-and-forth to the dealerships as my car was at 50,000 miles. The first time that Dolan MAZDA took possession of my car, they put 63 miles on the car test driving it. When I receive my car back from California, an additional 372 miles was put on my car. This is ridiculous!! This car again is clearly a lemon and they cannot figure out what’s wrong with my car. Now MAZDA is saying since I am now out of warranty, I must pay for repairs. I was in warranty the first 3 times they attempted to fix my car.
The fuel rail leaked fuel last March on my CX9, three months after I made my last payment. It was 8000 miles out of warranty. The cost was over $1000. Town North Mazda in Richardson and Mazda USA refused to help me with repair costs, even though this is not a wear and tear part. They did offer to sell me a new car though. I believe it was defective. I wrote several appeals for help, but to no avail. 6 months later, the front-wheel bearing went bad, fusing to the hub despite having the car checked at a dealership when I first heard the noise. $500! Now the AC switch is not working. Hopefully only a relay, but it may turn out to be a blower-motor. Probably another $1000 in repairs. This car has seen the shop more in the last 8 months than my previous Ford 156,000 miles in 10 years. No more Mazdas in my garage. Reading this site is disturbing. It is not necessarily the list of complaints about reliability, but Mazdas apparent lack of concern for its customers. Or should I say suckers. Now I know why Mazda has such a great track record with recalls. There arent any. I am dumping this CX9. Any readers should follow my advice and do the same. Expensive lesson learned.
Bought my Mazda brand new in 2008. From day one, until 37k miles, not a single hiccup or fault to be had. Then my power steering shut off one day and I called Mazda and they immediately issued a recall and had it replaced the next day. And at 70k miles, there was a recall for a faulty ground on the wiring harness for the windshield wiper motor. Ive never felt safer in a vehicle. This Mazda has been FANTASTIC and I honestly couldnt recommend a better car for the money.
2012 CX9 Transmission failure. I bought a new CX9 in 2013, primarily because we wanted a reliable car for my wife. It was a good car up until about the summer of 2019 when the transmission started to shudder in 5/6 gears. With only 118K miles, we took it to the dealer and they confirmed the torque converter was bad. So I was 18k miles past my extended warranty mileage and I was told it would cost me $3600 for a new transmission...and could be more if the front transaxle has issues. This was our first Mazda and we are so disappointed in the quality of these cars and with the response from mazda...which was no response. Ive owned many cars and never had any transmission issues of this magnitude. So going forward, I will only buy Honda or Toyota cars. Mazda should be ashamed of putting out this crap to consumers and sticking them (us) with a bill that we cant afford.
I cannot keep a battery charged. New alternator, new radiator. Thanks to alternator, new battery, new radio, new tires, etc. Money in it and still cant keep it charged. Does anyone know why this may be happening? I love the car (2010 Mazda CX9) but am fed up with it not running when I need it. Something is pulling battery down when it is parked in my garage overnight. Any help would be appreciated everyone if baffled at what is causing this. Cant trade it off. Just bought 6 months ago and have problem ever since. Owe too much to trade now. Help.
Had vehicle towed in for noise in upper engine area (VVT). Towed in not to do any damage. They took off oil pan (was tapping not knocking) now this is a 2009 Mazdaspeed 3 with a k&n air filter and a street unit blow off valve no big changes and no issues at all besides the tapping. Well long story short, they took the bearing out (crank) and when i said put it back together i need a second opinion. Had it towed to another Mazda dealer who found out there was a problem with the covered VVT valve issues but did not cover the engine (34,600 miles) because of the air filter and BOV. I called BS but some stupid fool tech said my car was highly modified (what!!!) so they did not cover it and i paid out of pocket $6000 plus for a new engine. And yes i have video and written proof that they put the bearings back in backwards and ruined the engine for a simple fix. Since then, I do all my own service and have had 0 problems with 86,00 miles with the k&n filter and BOV. Should i be pissed? Yes! But I love my Mazda and I am sure they know they abused this customer with tech experience and knowledge of cars and trucks for 30 years plus and would think they all knew better when it is under warranty. This is where the term Stealership came from. Sad but true. Even worst I am not the type of person to hunt down these fools and drag them in court just to make a point and get my money back. I will (foolish me) hope they learn and turn.
Had Mazda CX 5 for two years. First two years the car worked fine. Third year had to be towed twice. Ended up replacing the battery & service cost me over $300. Now today again it did not start and it is ticking like a bomb even when I disconnected the battery. What a disappointment. Not to speak of missing my several work days including today.
I bought my Mazda 6 brand new almost 2 years ago and havent had any trouble with it at all. My Mazda is very well designed. My car is very well designed and has all of the current options available. It is comfortable and the ride is quiet. It handles well in bad weather. I love the many features such as the blind spot monitor, tire pressure monitor, Navigation system, Boise radio, Bluetooth for hands free phone and other features. I feel safe and confident driving my car. If I ever need or want to buy a new car again, I will buy another Mazda.
I have problems with my Mazda 2 Zoom-2012. The battery had to be changed by the Distributor in Costa Rica as it died after 2 years. Now, after two months with the new battery, the car does not function.
I have had to replace my brakes and rotors twice on my 2009 Mazda 6. The first time I replaced the brakes and rotors, the car had 23,180 miles. Mazda did not admit fault, but basically covered this up by good willing my rotors and only charging me an inflated price for the brake pads and rotors. I had to replace the brakes and rotors a second time at 68,012 miles (36,975 miles after the first time). I filed a formal complaint through Mazdas corporate headquarters and got nowhere. They say its normal. The mechanic who just replaced my brakes and rotors for the second time and has 20 years of experience completely disagrees. I have a string of emails between Mazdas corporate rep and myself that I can provide. Mazda is completely unwilling to do anything and refused to even pass my case along to a supervisor. I am concerned that I will have to continue to absorb the cost for a product defect that Mazda is not willing to admit it happening. I would like to pursue legal action.
I take very good care of our CX-7 and with only 70,000 miles the turbo and catalytic converter went. We were driving and a loud siren sound came from the engine. We had to limp to a shop and were told the turbo and the catalytic converter were shot. This cost us $3,600. Before being fixed I contacted the local Mazda dealer who told me that these cars are notorious for failed turbos. In fact he said it was so bad that Mazda put out a special warranty to cover these turbos. They all fail around 60-70,000 miles. Turns out, my VIN number did not match the ones that were a part of this special warranty. I asked the service manager, Is there anything you can do for me? He replied, sarcastically, We can replace your turbo for you.I have owned three Mazdas. Every one had problems. The one thing I have found though that all Mazdas share are very bad brakes. They are always very weak. This CX-7 with 70,000 also has bad brakes. I am replacing the front rotors for the SECOND time, with only 70,000 miles. I have replaced the pads probably 5 times and I do not drive fast or slam them. My son and I are very meticulous about changing the oil and the brake pads. Maintenance like we do should help a car last. Unfortunately Mazdas are very cheap, low-end Japanese cars and I guess it doesnt matter what you do, they just fall apart.
I purchased a 2010 Mazda 6. The seat cover is changing, and is already showing signs of wear and tear. The car has 29,550 km. Mazda will not cover wear and tear. How is this, when the car is still new? It took me 7 months to actually have this done, and the dealer was not of much help, until I wrote a lot of e-mails to the management. Why is it that, in this day and age, warranty, or customer concerns are not dealt with properly. Mazda now tells me by email, that they are not responsible. Perhaps using substandard materials? They are now just duping their customers. Second problem is that my tires lose 0.5, to 3 lbs of pressure, within a two week period, per tire, but of course, Mazda is not responsible. The dealer had finally water tested, and found nothing. It is a slow leak. Doesnt any one offer customer service any more, or are they just passing the buck.I guess I have to do the leg work, and call Michelin. I also have to get the alloy rims checked. As far as the seat goes, well, I have to deal with it on my own, of course Im sure, they would have no problem selling me one. As a first time Mazda owner, take my advice, and do not buy this substandard garbage. GM Im coming back.
A word to the wise, if you have a mechanical problem check to see what issues Mazda may be extending warranty coverage. From experience, dealerships and Mazda provide no foreknowledge to a problem with faulty manufacturing issues that are covered under an extended warranty. On my daughters 2012 CX9 there was a factory problem with a brake line. Dealer quoted over $800 repair cost and never informed us that this problem was covered under extended warranty. I happened to find out by internet search, it was a warranty covered issue and we still fell within extended warranty time and mileage limits. She now is told the AWD is not functioning due to a faulty factory power transfer unit. There was and still is no indication by any warning light or anything that a problem with the AWD occurred. Unfortunately, the extended warranty time limit expired 6 months ago. We have no idea when the AWD failed and neither does Mazda dealership. I can see that this is going to be difficult to get this covered because no one can tell if it failed under the warranty limits (we are still within the mileage limit). This is a $1500 repair quote. I think if Mazda has knowledge of factory failures this information should be made more readily available to consumers. Or better yet MAKE YOUR DAMN CARS BETTER!!!
I have a 2007 CX7 car but its nothing but a lemon with a 2-master cylinder and turbo charger. The fender popped loose and motor mounts were broken. When they changed turbo charger, nothing was under warranty. I have spent over $3,000.00. I will never buy this SUV or Mazda again. What a joke. Im easy on this car with 63,000 miles on it. When all **, I cant afford to get rid of it. But when I can look out the world, I will buy one from the USA.
I just leased a 2016 CX 5 Grand Touring last month and began having problems with the transmission. Initially it would hesitate for a second before drive would engage. I made an appointment to have it looked at. Before my appointment I stopped at a light and when I pressed on the gas nothing happened and then it went into gear and all of the warning lights went off and it went into limp mode. I immediately went to the dealership and after looking at the car they said the Mazda techs want to examine the transmission and that they would be replacing my transmission. Unbelievable as CAR HAS ONLY 887 MILES and I havent even had it a month!
We bought a fully loaded CX5 in 8/14. It was the best decision weve made. Because of my back problems, I need to have a seat thats adjustable as well as an upright position. The CX5 provides that for me. Last summer we drove across the country and depending on my back, I was able to make adjustments to make it very comfortable for when I drove as well as being a passenger. The safety features such as the blind spot monitoring, the rear camera, and the automatic lights and windshield wipers were so helpful when driving. I felt so safe in this car. Mileage was good too, the car still has under 12K and were doing 26.7 mpg total. My only negative is that the rear hatch/door is not power controlled. In a fully loaded car I wouldve expected that, but it was not an option. I do want to note about some of the other reviews here - people need to explain their problems better. Owners also have to be realistic. How one drives a car does affect brakes. Front end Collisions only trigger front air bags (not side ones). Injuries can be caused by not wearing seat belts. And yes, sometimes cars have defects, but tens of thousands of cars are made of a particular model each year. A few will have problems from the get go. This is why many states have lemon laws. But if 5 people report the same problem, this is not a defect. Most likely your car got that 1 in 25,000 bad part. In that situation, if you can definitely prove it was Not your fault, you may get the maker to pay for the repair. But usually you cant, so hope the bill is low - that’s all.
Two Mazda 3s 2010 - Revving from 1000 - 4000 when braking, struts, bearings, now car is rolling parked in 1st on a 25 degree incline. Ive driven standard (manual) all my life and this should not happen. Back to dealership.
My husband and I traded in a BMW X5 for a Mazda CX7 (year 2007) last year, 2011. We decided to go with Mazda CX7, because we believed it would be a reliable family car that would also be affordable to maintain, and is fuel efficient. We purchased our Mazda at a private dealership and purchased the top coverage warranty since the car was a 2007 model.Earlier this month, my husband took the car to the warranty approved maintenance shop for an oil change, where he was informed by the mechanic that the car needs to be repaired due to VVT damage, and that we cannot drive the car until the part is ordered and repaired. At first we were told that our warranty will cover the repair work, but it will take approximately 2 weeks for the VVT part to come in.It has now been nearly three weeks, and my husband and I still dont have our car back, since the VVT part is on backorder all over North America. We are both working parents of a two and a half year old toddler who needs to be taken to daycare every day. The CX7 is our only car, therefore in the past three weeks; weve had to rely on friends, co-workers and now a rental car to make it to work and our daughters daycare. The rental car is costing us a lot of money, and neither our warranty, nor Mazda is willing to cover the rental car fees. We have no estimate as to when the VVT part will arrive for our Mazda CX7 and no way of getting around. We are financially unable to continue paying for the rental car.Having said all that, I am extremely disappointed and angry with Mazda. It seems that VVT (variable valve timing) part is now a known problem with Mazda CX7, so this is a faulty VVT problem that Mazda is aware of, yet no one we spoke with from Mazda is willing to show any compassion for us. Mazdas response to our problem is simply that since we dont have proof of enough oil changes (weve only had the car for less than a year), and we dont have our extended warranty with Mazda, therefore its not their problem. Ive obviously been mistaken by trusting Mazda for making a reliable car, or showing any social responsibility and compassion to their customers.
I grudgingly moved from a Jeep to my Madza CX-5....and LOVE LOVE LOVE it! The space is a little tighter than my Grand Cherokee but I haven’t really noticed. It’s very reliable and you can’t lock yourself out of the car, which is a huge bonus! It’s been a great car and I ask a lot of it! Oh, one other thing ~ I occasionally drive for Uber and a lot of times people will get in and ask me what car this is, as they are really impressed.
We purchased a new Mazda 6 and were being pushed in finance to purchase an alarm system for $350. My husband asked if the car already had an alarm system from manufacturer and we were told no. My husband thought it was odd so he asked again and the answer was still no! We then decided to purchase and later realized we have 2 alarms because it already has one. On top of this our dealer quit the next day and no one told us, so we continued to try to contact him and the rest of the staff seemed bothered when we had questions. Finally I call the manager (Mike **) about several issues and he would not return my calls. On his email responses he was rude and angry and refused to help us. I waited a week to fill out the survey to see how they would correct some of these issues and then finally I filled out the form truthfully. Mike then sends me a nasty, unprofessional email saying that because we gave him a poor score he no longer wanted to work with us! We were shocked. We are very unhappy with this dealership and wish we would have purchased this vehicle in Tustin or not purchased a Mazda at all (Even though I do like the car itself!)
Mazda 5 is sharp looking car with lots of great features for an affordable price. Great experience driving for everyday and long road trips. Very roomy with the third row seating option. We have had very positive experiences in owning 3 other Mazdas. Great driveability in town, freeway or long distance. Gets good gas mileage. Has Bluetooth feature for answering and making phone calls hands free. However, it does not have power seats or lighted mirrors on the visors. Sometimes the catalytic converter has an odor of sulfur that service technicians do not seem able to smell or find the cause of when we have it serviced.
After more than 30 years being a Toyota car owner, I made the mistake to buy a new Mazda CX9. Last week, I went to the car wash. When I came out I found out that the BSM (blind spot monitor) stop working. So I took the car to the dealer and they found out a very tiny scratch, an inch long. It wasnt a dent, not even damage the paint. But they said that this damage the computer, and they send me to their Mazda collision shop and want to charge me 1,500$ plus a new computer. UAU “Are these cars so weak?” Trying to take advantage… I dont know. But Im very disappointed. Never again Mazda. Never.
2012 Mazda 3 6 speed with Skyactiv Transmission problems - This car had 180 miles on it when I got it; it now has 2000. From day one, I have experienced problems shifting into 1st gear, where it just plain and simple will not go into gear. This happens whether the car is cold or warm. Also on 2nd gear and reverse. It sticks in almost every gear. It clunks loudly when putting the car into 1st gear initially and when going from 1st to 2nd. It also accelerates on its own when I am both shifting up and shifting down. I have almost hit someone at a stop light and while sitting in stop and go traffic because of this issue. It happens every day, intermittently. I feel very unsafe driving it. Mazda has said that they will contact the dealership and speak to them, because the dealership will not confirm nor deny that these things shouldn’t be happening, which is weird seeing as the car is brand new and no brand new car should ever refuse to go into gear nor drive on its own. I had a 2004 before this with zero problems and I regret buying up. I am very unhappy and in danger.
I bought a new Mazda MX5... It is only a few thousand miles out of warranty. That is when my Air Conditioning clutch froze up (of course after the warranty ends) on the Air Conditioning Compressor and now it blows HOT air. Mazda wants $1,200 to replace it, so I spoke to Morgan at Mazda about this problem, thinking Mazda would stand behind it considering the small amount my AC unit was used. The thing is I live in the Mountains in NC and really did not use the Air Conditioning very much. I bet that AC unit has only been used 10% of the time... Plus, I have purchased 2 brand NEW Mazdas in the last 5 years. Mazda still refused to stand behind their product and cover this under warranty... I am done with Mazda. I will never buy another Mazda again and I am going to warn everyone I can about Mazda poor service after the sale. What a horrible way to treat your loyal Customers. Something similar happened to my Father and Dodge stood behind their AC unit even after the Warranty expired... Now my Father will only buy a Dodge. Mazda just does not get it. Mazda just lost an entire family and friends of future Customers. NEVER AGAIN...
I loved my Mazda from day one. In July 2007, I leased my CX-7, AWD, Touring. In July 2010, because I loved it so much, after test driving several other cars in the same class, I financed the rest and kept it. I have proof of all my oil changes and maintenance to the vehicle. I paid it off nearly one year early with some of my retirement savings so I could enjoy not having a monthly payment for the first time in my life. I also put brand new tires on and another $3,000 of maintenance, replacing the cracked transfer case, leaking oil cooler and loose ball joint (as recommended by Mazda). I responded promptly to all recalls by bringing it right to the dealership I leased and purchased it from. In January 2015, my family was in the car on the way to the mall. The check engine light came on. My husband and I argued for 20 seconds about how he felt there were always problems with the car (I still disagree to this day with the always part). 10 seconds later....the engine shut off, he was barely able to steer the car down an exit ramp off the highway when the car completely stopped. Black smoke came pouring out of the hood. We grabbed our two toddlers out of the their car seats and I stood with them in the freezing rain while flames shot out of the bottom and sides of the car and my husband called 911. Ill never forget how I stood there with tears streaming down my face, shivering and trying to hold my babies while my Mazda that I trusted for almost 8 years, burned beyond recognition in front of me. Thank God nobody was hurt. We dont know what caused it since no warning lights were on prior to that and nothing was reported to me by Mazda service when it was in the shop not even 6 weeks earlier. The insurance money is barely covering what I put in to this car in the last 5 months. I wont buy a Mazda ever again, and I suggest you dont either.
I bought my 2008 Mazda CX-9 in 2010 with about 23,000 miles from a local dealer. I loved the vehicle until the past few months. My car is now 5 years old with 78,000. I have had regular oil changes and have done all scheduled maintenance since Ive owned it. I had issues with the tie rods (scary story as well) that needed replacing. I expect brakes, tires, batteries, etc. will need replacing. I even expect that at some point the water pump will require replacing. What I did not know, is that the water pump, which of course failed a month before Christmas, is in the middle of the engine. In order to replace this $159 part, the entire engine had to be removed. I was without my car for 4 days and the total bill was over $1700. $159 in parts and $1500 in labor ($105 per hour). I am of course out of warranty but the dealer said to call the customer service number, they will likely help. NOPE, not a dime. What I have discovered about Mazda is that MAZDA DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS. I will NEVER buy another Mazda and I will be telling the world for the rest of my life. Mazda just doesnt care about their customers so think of that before you make such an expensive purchase.
I recently purchased a certified pre-owned Mazda 6. After owning it for only 5 months, the brake pads on the front of the vehicle are completely worn. Mazda expects me to pay $100 to fix my vehicle? I feel this to be ridiculous. I shouldnt have brake issues so soon after owning a car and Mazda should do the right thing and fix my vehicle for free.
Engine Failure. My wifes car that we both really enjoyed until recently. I did a lot of research on this vehicle before we purchased it and the price was excellent with the Tech option. All was ok until a few weeks ago. Started noticing the smell of burnt oil in the cabin when we were stopped at an intersection. Came home, looked under the vehicle and didnt notice anything. This continued on each time we used it (we carpool so it doesnt get driven daily) and then eventually I noticed oil spots on our driveway. Thought it may be either dripping from the filter or the bolt so I decided to do an oil change which I noticed that there was an excessive amount of oil present on the underside of the chassis and also in the plastic shroud that must be removed to access the oil pan and filter. The bolt and filter were on tight so the oil was coming from another location.Drove the vehicle into work the following day and again the smell of burning oil (like oil that would get onto the exhaust) was present when the vehicle was running but at a stop. Parked in a spot where there were no oil spots and I went into work. Roughly 3 hours later I had a look at the vehicle and noticed a 5 round oil spot under the vehicle. Contacted the Mazda dealership and drove it in for an appointment that afternoon. They had the vehicle for 2 hours and I came there after work to check up on what they found. First words out of the technician were we ordered you a new engine as this one has a porous block. Not sure if the block was porous or cracked as one would think that after 31000kms it would have been evident sooner.Regardless, the dealership provided a replacement vehicle (Mazda 3) and have indicated that this will be repaired once they receive a new engine as they were on back order. Dealership also indicated that this is not the first 2.5L with this issue found on a 2018 CX5. Ive owned over 30 vehicles so far and this is the first time Ive had this type of failure. Needless to say, Im not too happy with the reliability demonstrated by a Japanese built vehicle.
I own 2009 Mazda 5. It has 145,000 miles on it and still runs great! I bought it in 2010 and it was the best car purchase. No problems at all. Only changing oils, tires, and breaks. We needed second car and we decided to get another Mazda, this time CX5. I think I would never buy another brand. I would absolutely recommend to a family and friends.
I had a 1991 Miata for 25 years! After a deer destroyed it I got a new one in 2016. Love it! Miss the retractable headlights but I m very happy with it thus far.
Year and a half ago, I bought a CX-7 2008. At first it was great, loved that car! It was perfect for our family and loved the way it drove. A year later, things started majorly happening. I noticed that the tires were wearing down fast. I had it aligned and rotated when I needed to. I did everything on the right time line, but still the tires started going bald fast. Then I took it in for a routine oil change and was told that the oil cooler was leaking. When I bought the car from a dealer, that was an issue, and the dealer fixed it before I bought it. Now a year later, it was leaking again. So I took it to my mechanic and he checked it out. He found that not only was it leaking, but that the engine was going because there were metal parts in the oil. I had to buy a new engine! Now 6 months later, the oil cooler is leaking again!!!! I asked the Mazda dealership why? They didnt have any answers for me. Now Im backwards in this piece of junk!!! And I have to have a car to go to work. I have a limited income because Im a teacher and when talking to Mazda, there is nothing that can be done.
