On my new Mazda CX 5 2015 (love that car!) the entertainment system is not working at all with iPhone 6 through usb, on bluetooth. It will only play my music from the A position every time, will not play any streaming audio from my iPhone 6. Is there a way/plan by Mazda to upgrade the software on the system to resolve the issues?

Yes, my wife and I have gone through five Mazdas in the course of fifteen years. We used to purchase European cars exclusively, but have since jumped off that ship! Quality control issues abounded with our European luxury cars. Anyhow, this is a Mazda review. First off, let me just say that people are most adamant about getting their voices heard when they are upset; it is human nature to complain. However, it isnt often that we will write home about positive experiences unless they were truly out of the ordinary. On that note, this has been my experience with Mazda in the past fifteen years. My wife and I purchased our 2001 Protege MP3 brand spanking new, off the lot, in late 2000 after our BMW 325s engine failed completely. We had the MP3 for about five years and clocked in 260,000 miles. In that amount of time, the trunk started to retain water after 50,000 miles. What did we do? We removed the plugs in the trunk to let water out; PROBLEM SOLVED. At around 100,000 miles, a clunk started to appear in the rear end of our MP3. As it turns out, the bushings were bad on the rear sway bar. We upgraded to polyurethane and problem was solved. At around 160,000 miles, the rubber intake hose developed a crack so we installed a cold air intake. PROBLEM SOLVED. In 2005, we were t-boned when a motorist failed to stop. Our poor yellow MP3 was totaled; it went to automotive heaven and was dearly missed. Overall experience with the MP3: smiles every time we drove the car. The MP3 did not have the best fit and finish, had a harder sport-tuned suspension, and had more road noise, but we felt so connected to the car each time we drove it. We decided to purchase a brand new 2006 Mazda6 S (V6 manual) off the lot after the death of the MP3. We loved the little 6, which was roomier than the MP3 and much more upscale. The double wishbone suspension made U-turns a hassle, but boy was it fun to take around twisties. In 2009, we decided to purchase another vehicle so we opted for the 2009 Mazda6 GT, which- unfortunately - was only offered in an automatic. The 2009 was certainly more of a blast in a straight line (much more hp than the 2006) but was somehow lacking in overall driving connection. Additionally, Mazdas decision to switch to MacPherson struts somehow made the car feel more tame. After clocking in 89,000 miles on the 2009 MZ6 we traded it in for a used 2007 Mazda5 (only 12,000 miles and a manual transmission! ) in the summer of 2012 because our family grew to a size of four (two more kids) overall. In the fall of 2013, the Mazda5s thermostat went out, so that was a $40 fix and 30 minutes of my life taken away. Afterwards, the throttle body on the MZ5 gave out on us in 2014 at 95,000 miles. It was a $180 purchase for a new OEM TB, plus $15 for new coolant and 20 minutes of my life. It was around this time that we decided to purchase a ‘14 Mazda3 Sport (manual) in February 2014 because my wife and I absolutely fell in love with the cars aesthetic. We drove the car out the lot at $21,500 with huge smiles on our faces. It is now February 2015 and we still have our 2006 Mazda6 S (128,300 miles), 2007 Mazda5 S (112,200 miles), and 2014 Mazda3 S (3,111 miles). In the years that we have owned the 06 Mazda6, we have only had to change the oil, brakes, tires, and coolant. NOTHING MECHANICAL BROKE DOWN. As for the Mazda5, the biggest issues were only the thermostat and throttle body, which set us back less than $300. The 14 Mazda3 is still too new, but no issues have arisen yet.Overall, our collective experiences with our Mazdas have been very pleasant. We conducted extensive reviews before our purchases and we had realistic expectations of Mazdas flaws in their cars (bumpy suspension, increased road noise, etc), so not once did we feel cheated by Mazda (or anyone else for that matter.) However, for every day that we drive our cars, we love the experience. Sure, they arent Porsches or Ferraris, but for the money, they were certainly a pleasure to drive. Plus, can you fit five people and 30 cubic feet of cargo in a Ferrari? I think not. This has been our experience with Mazda. Who knows, we might be outliers in Mazdas brand quality? We intend on getting the ND Miata soon as well. I hope this review was helpful.

At approximately 2 years old, my car started tripping the check engine light and AT light. So, I took it to the dealership to have it checked out. It had around 26,000 miles at the time. They cleared the light and said a cable must have been loose or something. Fast forward two months and again, it was the same issue. But this was followed by leaving me stranded. I had it towed and they diagnosed it as low voltage, but werent sure if it was the battery or what. They would not move forward until the battery was replaced and apparently on a brand new car. Mazdas 3-year 36,000-mile warranty means absolutely nothing. Even though I have regular maintenance at the dealership and had it in at 24 months for the light, they would only cover 25% as it was now after 24 months. Batteries have a 12-month warranty before being pro-rated. Keep in mind, once you replace it, the exact same battery has a 3-year warranty. The battery itself even shows 36/60 on the outside. I called North American operations and they blew me off. I asked everyone else up the food chain and nothing happened. They wanted $155 for the battery at the dealership or $100 at Autozone. Ultimately, I had to buy a new battery. Since Mazda covers nothing at twice the price, I bought the one from Autozone which is a 36/8 year warranty. Mazda then proceeded to charge me $55 to put it in. Save yourself time, money, and sanity. Dont buy Mazda. And if you decide to anyway, dont buy from Suburban Mazda in Michigan. I originally bought 2 Mazda 6s from them in 2009 and they will be my last.

The Mazda CX 5 is a great looking SUV. The after sales service sucks. I have determined that the Electronic Park Brake is a design flaw. This must be the only front wheel drive vehicle that wears out its rear brake pads and tyres before the front. Mazda with TSB 004-05/15 replaces the brake calipers when the actual problem is the sensor which controls the EPB. Like a person who hates constructive critique. I am not surprised that they are suffering in the market.

I purchased my vehicle 2 years ago and just recently got to 20,00 miles and had to have the rear disc brake pads replaced because they barely passed inspection. I called the customer service number and they said they would gladly replace them free of charge if I went back to the dealer immediately that day to get it done. I then learned that this is a flaw that some of the CX-5s have including the current models. I leased my vehicle so I will be returning it before the 40,000 miles when it will probably need them again. It is expensive to replace them every 20,000 miles when they should last at LEAST 40,000 miles. If I owned this vehicle who would have to keep replacing them when they wear sooner than they should, ME!!! That is an expense I can not afford.I also have an issue that when you open the back hatch there is not enough light to see what you are doing. I like the way the car handles in the snow, which is why I leased it to begin with, to see how well it did. I like the car and would love to buy another when my lease is up but I dont know if I will because of the expense of replacing the discs every 20,000 miles.

I bought a Mazda CX-5 cross over SUV in March. Overall - I like the car. I paired my Blackberry phone on AT&T to the Mazda system and I can make and receive wireless hands free calls - works well. When I receive emails I get a message that asks me if I want to download them for display on the LCD screen. When I click OK I get a message saying they can’t download the message and to try later. But of course there is never a later success. Has anyone seen a correction for this problem from Mazda?

Mazda 5 has good mileage and storage space in the back. We like the cruise control, volume/mute control on steering wheel and digital dashboard display. We wanted the benefits of a minivan that was easier to maneuver and at a lower price. However, it has poor overall leg room and we cannot use the third row seats for people of all ages and sizes. We want more overall leg room, but especially more room for the third row seats. This would help to carry people of all ages and sizes in all of the passenger seats.

I bought a 2006 Mazda speed 6 in October of 2006. The car was in the shop more than out. In August 2010, I took it to two dealerships for white exhaust smoke. They stated that it had to do with the turbo and the motor was shot. They would not cover it under warranty. I could not afford to fix the car as it would cost over $5000. I gave the car back to the bank even though I loved that car. Two days ago, I get a letter from Mazda saying that they are now covering this repair under the warranty. I was so mad that I gave up my car and now they are covering it. If they would have covered it back when I first brought it in, I would still have that car!

I loved my Mazda from day one. In July 2007, I leased my CX-7, AWD, Touring. In July 2010, because I loved it so much, after test driving several other cars in the same class, I financed the rest and kept it. I have proof of all my oil changes and maintenance to the vehicle. I paid it off nearly one year early with some of my retirement savings so I could enjoy not having a monthly payment for the first time in my life. I also put brand new tires on and another $3,000 of maintenance, replacing the cracked transfer case, leaking oil cooler and loose ball joint (as recommended by Mazda). I responded promptly to all recalls by bringing it right to the dealership I leased and purchased it from. In January 2015, my family was in the car on the way to the mall. The check engine light came on. My husband and I argued for 20 seconds about how he felt there were always problems with the car (I still disagree to this day with the always part). 10 seconds later....the engine shut off, he was barely able to steer the car down an exit ramp off the highway when the car completely stopped. Black smoke came pouring out of the hood. We grabbed our two toddlers out of the their car seats and I stood with them in the freezing rain while flames shot out of the bottom and sides of the car and my husband called 911. Ill never forget how I stood there with tears streaming down my face, shivering and trying to hold my babies while my Mazda that I trusted for almost 8 years, burned beyond recognition in front of me. Thank God nobody was hurt. We dont know what caused it since no warning lights were on prior to that and nothing was reported to me by Mazda service when it was in the shop not even 6 weeks earlier. The insurance money is barely covering what I put in to this car in the last 5 months. I wont buy a Mazda ever again, and I suggest you dont either.

I recently bought a Mazda CX-5 (2 months ago). At the time of purchase I had only a couple of criteria but they were very important to me since I put A LOT of mileage on my cars. (My last car was a 2007 and it had 380,000 km on it when I finally decided to buy a new car.) My criteria: The car needed to have XM/Sirius availability, a bluetooth that enabled true hands free use of my cell phone calls and an easy to use, straightforward navigation system. I was told the CX 5 I was purchasing had all three… WHAT A LIE!!!I paid an extra $1300 for the tech package to be installed into the car that would supposedly allow all three of above criteria. Immediately it was evident that something was wrong with the navigation (or so I thought). It took no less than 7 step to input any address into it. It was impossible to use on the fly and required not only pulling over to input info BUT it demanded 6 more levels of information before it would give me directions! Im serious. After returning to Budds dealership to attempt to gain further insight on how to correct this issue it became evident that NONE of the salespeople knew how to operate it! NONE! Not even the sales manager. We had to contact the Navigation system manufacturers in the state to find out what the problem was. Turns out, there was no problem. That was the crappy-ass cheap nav system that Mazda had ordered for their 2016 CX line of cars!!! Oh - by the way, the voice recognition is non-existent. Now I am back to driving around having to rely on my iPhone Google Maps to direct me on my travels. Nice to know Mazda has our backs (tongue firmly planted in check) helping its customers abide by the hands free driving rules now strictly in place in Canada and the US. There is no excuse for this type of 20th century technology in todays 21st century, seriously?? The XM was a joke, it does not actually show up on the in-dash display. It is provided exclusively by a tiny little remote that has push buttons. No scrolling capability, no visual feedback about what station you are on or listening to, unbelievable. By the way, I had the tech package removed and requested my $1300 back. My Bluetooth is another matter, cuts in and out on a regular basis. I have to reconnect my phone and the cars bluetooth at least 4 times a month. Again, as with the nav system, the voice recognition is non-existent.I HATE THIS CAR. $40,000 and 7 yrs of car payments for the privilege of driving a car with no nav system, XM/Sirius or bluetooth capability. So basically I am back driving around having to use my iPhone for cell calls and google maps. One more thing, the gas mileage sucks, the tank is the size of a football. I am filling up every second or third day AND it sounds like a diesel engine when you first start it up. I thought something was wrong with the muffler when I first started driving it. Turns out the loud engine and exhaust noise is the result of the skyactiv technology they use, another huge marketing BS story they try to sell you about why Mazda is so advanced. Did I mention HOW MUCH I HATE THIS CAR??

My 2005 Mazda Tribute 2.7L V-6 5 Door right rear shock mount separated from the vehicle body. Basically the inner right rear wheel well arch house is rotting out from corrosion and the shock mount is unstable and detached from body. My wife and I were in the market for a vehicle the summer of 2011. We had a check from our institution in the back pocket so we went searching. Our search starts with the Toyota Venza (new), and the Infiniti Q35 (pre-owned). We visited approximately 5 dealerships the weekend previous to July 4th, 2011 - a lot of test drives, a lot of negotiations which were close, but not as satisfactory. After not moving the needle as much as we had desired, my wife has an idea to check out the dealership of Mazda in Huntington Beach. We look at the Cx7 & Cx9 (new) and after test driving a few, she decides to look into the Cx7 as she was previously unfamiliar with the vehicle. After mulling options over (blank check was good for up to 40k in financing, 4.1 APR) she decides to purchase the Mazda (24,900). We select a model, which has 13 miles on it - and though others (Venza, Infinity) were her chief desire, she believes that the decision was a good, more economical one. We (she) purchases the vehicle July 4th, 2011.One month in, the front driver tire blows out on the 55 freeway in Costa Mesa. The car is driven to the dealer the next day - to have a tire placed on. The price was surely surprise surprise - $250.00. We push to know why the tire was so expensive, its because the size is new for this size vehicle and theres one maker of the tire. Bridgestone. We pay for it begrudgingly, and go about our way.Fast forward to February 6th, 2015, a shade over 3 years, 6 months of owning the vehicle. The vehicle history is good, maintenance is excellent (my wife is a therapist for children with autism so thats why vehicle choice was extremely important - traveling client to client in administering therapy sessions) and without warning, she cannot reverse. She can drive forward, yet is losing power when the automatic attempts to shift from 1st to 2nd gear, so it jumps from first to 3rd.We take the vehicle to Browning Mazda in Cerritos and we are advised that the transmission needs to be replaced (3,200). 3 years 6 months 64,262 miles, excellent maintenance history, & this vehicle needs a NEW transmission? This felt like a terrible joke. The power train warranty? 3y/60k. Expired just over 4,000 miles ago. If theres an engine issue, we usually receive a warning (ie - check engine light flashes on when the oil hits around 3,500) - yet for a failed transmission the vehicle took a dump without warning. We contact Mazda (corporate) & are advised later in the day that they would pay half of the ticketed amount. Thats still egregious as there wouldnt be a vehicle sold if most buyers knew that at such ridiculous low mileage, the transmission would fail them. We retrieve the vehicle and have it looked at for two more opinions and apparently there are no codes indicating the transmission is bad, not to mention the fact the transmission itself is indicating itself being bad simply by the test drive. One transmission mechanic wanted to advise us that Mazda contains many Ford parts, including the transmission and the parts itself. He opens a book, shows a Ford Escape transmission cover (as an example to start) & shows the transmission cover for a Mazda Cx7. Same shape. Same size. Same diameter. The only difference was the material each was made out of. He also advised us that Ford held a controlling stake in Mazda for a very long time and that Mazda in engine make up is similar to many Ford vehicles.Im thankful for such insight as now, my wife, shes back to square one. We will just take it on the chin, pay the dealer, trade it in and get into the vehicle she wanted to originally (Toyota Venza) as it has a powertrain of 7y/100k, and we have another blank check and a few we are willing to pay more of a premium for now as opposed to settling (which appears now, that we did).My advice, if you could help it remain in a Toyota (I drive a Lexus and plan to remain with Toyota) or Honda (my wife bought a Civic new in 2001, drove it to 2011 without issue, netting 170k miles before selling to a UCI college student, then purchasing this Mazda vehicle). If my story helps you even a little bit, I am definitely thankful. This experience feels completely underhanded and we feel hoodwinked.

Mazda paint is really soft. My 2011 Mazda cx7 paint is totaled: noise clip, hood, doors, even starting on the roof. This all started at less than 16,000 km. Now, with 30,000 km., the car looks like its 10 years old. I have fought with the dealer but they dont care (Northside Mazda Sault Ste. Marie, ON Canada, owned by the Palumbos). I have spoken to Mazda Canada customer relations and set up an appointment (which took three months) with the district manager. He pretty much said it was normal and couldnt see Mazda covering the damage. What a crock of **. If they were to cover it, it wouldnt be warranty but a goodwill gesture. But I would have to talk to Japan. Im not holding my hopes up. But if I could get just one person to not buy a Mazda from this, it would make my day. Dont buy Mazda. This is the nicest car I have ever driven. It now has 40,000 kms. and is running perfectly. BUT: when I first purchased the car I said that the brake and gas pedals seemed to be too close together and my shoe caught the bottom of the brake pedal when I tried to move from the gas to the brake. Did not think this was a major problem until we were sitting in the fast food takeout line and the car started to inch forward while I was stepping on the brake. I stepped down harder and the car revved up and lurched forward hitting the car in front of us. My shoe which was stepping on the brake was also touching the gas so the harder I stepped on the brake, the more I stepped on the gas also. While there was hardly any damage to both cars (some bumper damage to car in front about $600.) IF A CHILD HAD BEEN BETWEEN THE CARS, HE WOULD HAVE BEEN CRUSHED. This is an issue that should be addressed by the designers before someone is injured or killed. This problem is not unique to Mazda, other car manufacturers like Toyota, Ford, Mini Cooper all have the same problem. I also have a Suzuki, and this is not a issue with it, as there is about 3 inches space between the pedals. Is it possible that because Asian designers tend to design cars for people with smaller feet, that they do not consider that North Americans are generally bigger and therefore would wear larger footwear which may cause a problem in a confined space? I am going to have the brake pedal removed, cut, and rewelded so that the pedal is about 3 inches more to the left. This will fix the problem I have, and perhaps it will save a future accident that may be worse than the one I just had. Anyone else have an insights on this issue?

Bought a used Mazda CX-7 July 2016. July 2017 the left front control arm broke while driving down the road. Had my mechanic make the repairs to the car. Sept 2017 I get notice that there is a recall on the issue that occurred. Had the car to Mazda dealer August 2018 and repairs were made as per the recall but now Mazda USA does not want to reimburse me for the repairs made by my mechanic in July 2017 since it was done after the August 10, 2016 date of the recall which I knew nothing about till Sept 2017 when I got the first notice of the recall. Finally got them to look at the info but now they are using the fact that I dont have a bank statement from July 2017 showing the repairs were paid with my Visa when the slip from the garage is clearly marked paid Visa. Big company just looking for any possible loophole to get out of owning up to their mistakes.

Out of the blue the housing cracked blue oil all over the bottom of the car and seized the motor. After talking to mechanics junk yards and other people on the Internet, we found that this was a very common situation. I put in a complaint with the NATSA the ph number is 888 327 4236. Mazda Corporation in Canada has a huge problem that seems to be growing wee
Mazda Corporation in Canada has a huge problem that seems to be growing week over week. I purchased a new Mazda CX5 10 months ago. The vehicle drives fantastic. It just needs a lot of TLC. Paint is not evenly distributed leaving visible color distortions. Front bumper is not, absolutely not, suitable for winter driving in Canada. I went through a spray - car was to get the salt and grime off the car and the bumper just cracked. Dealer is telling me I hit something... No scuff marks, no other damage than a crack that starts exactly where there is a cut out in the bumper. This is a flaw in the plastic material that the bumper is made of. I will eventually replace the bumper but at $ 1,000.00 it simply is not feasible right now. The infotainment system is cause for long debates with the dealer and on the phone with Mazda Canada customer support. I have also put in a claim at the MTO (Ministry of Transportation in Ontario) to see if they are willing to see the point of a defective infotainment unit that requires constant attention during driving. USB drives simply crash, Bluetooth becomes grayed out. Needs a complete disconnect from the battery to resolve (plus reprogramming). Dealer states that they did a firmware upgrade but only tested for the GPS system and, since I keep that up to date (I had to purchase maps to be updated quarterly), it showed on the bill that the firmware already was up to date. That is not the firmware!! The infotainment also has a firmware that can be checked by pressing radio on/off and audio at the same time. Since the dealer made a statement that the firmware is up to date, Mazda Canada does not want to respond to any flaws or changes that need to be made. Music volume is just unacceptable. I had to crank the sound to 30 before I can even hear the speakers and there is a constant hiss at lower music levels. Dont even think of driving with the roof open. You will have to crank it all the way up to 45 or 50 (65 is the max). I purchased the GS model for this. The sunroof is a much welcome tool in keeping the temps in the car at bay in the summer. The OEM tires will not last for more than 40,000 KM by the way. Last but not least: the dealer will only work on any TSB (technical service bulletin) when the customer insist. It is not done voluntarily. Mazda Canada still claims there are no TSBs for the car - if asked why they are so secretive about this, they claim that all works as it was meant to be. The car, in their eyes, is perfect. In my opinion, the many test reports are flawed and I have also contacted these sites and producers of the shows with the facts. Also the Dealers insist you take the rust proofing and if you do the car will be ready in 4 days. I refused ant it took 2 weeks with the 3M protection film still missing. These tricks will be pressed upon the buyer when I thought I was done with the purchase. I have deep regrets I purchased the car. I will zoom-zoom for a little longer but this car will not last the full 10 years my (t)rusty Ford Taurus did. I do not recommend anyone to purchase a Mazda CX5 if peace of mind is important.

My 2008 Mazda CX-7 starts leaking oil. I am told that it needs a new Engine Oil Cooler and it is not covered under power train warranty. However, this model has had problems so the new one has been improved to prevent this. You would think if they had to improve it because of this problem it would be a recall item. I went through every Mazda dealer in Arizona and they all told me the same thing. Yep, its a problem but not a recall.

2010 Mazda 3 - Another one bites the dust. I work from the house, do mainly highway driving and put about 100 miles a week if that on the car right now. I was driving on the highway and RPM started to rev up; I couldnt switch gears and clutch gave out from underneath me. Luckily, I was able to roll off the highway when I noticed the problem. Of course, one problem leads to another. The battery then died at the shop. I had to replace it as well. This comes not even a month after the rotors for brakes hit the fan. This has got to be one of the most problematic cars I have seen. A clutch dying in less than 3 years and the worst part is my car was due off its lease next month. I assume this to be a manufacturer defect, and maybe one day they will admit to a faulty clutch. As for customer service, its some of the worst I have ever seen. They review your concerns with an eraser or write with one. Horrible company and car!

Tribute recall notice - I received the 1st letter from Mazda last month. I took my Tribute to Premier Mazda of Georgetown (where I purchased it in 2008); they disconnected cable and told me to expect another letter from Mazda advising me they now had the parts for the repairs. I received the letter today telling me to call and set up an appointment. I spoke with ** who said to wait for yet another letter because the repairs were not being effective. This sounded fishy, so I called Mazda Corporate and spoke with Jose. He called ** at Premier Mazda. He was told ** had given inaccurate info and told me to call ** who would set up an appointment. I have called Premier and left messages to get a call back. I feel I am being ignored!

I just purchased a 2014 Mazda CX5 one month ago - pretty blue in color. I just had to HAVE it! Well, 4 days after getting it...yes, 4 days later, it went into what’s called Crawl mode. I was going 65 mph down the highway when all of a sudden it started slowing down...to 20 mph!! I had a semi-truck barreling down the road towards me...I had to yank my car off the road, slow completely down, then hit my start button 5 times for it to go into emergency shutdown mode. Tried to turn it back on, and nothing!! 5 minutes later, it finally started. Then not even one day later, my key light that says whether the key is in the car or not started coming on. It kept telling me I had no key in the car...yet the car was already on??? **?! So I figured it was just a car error for a onetime thing. OHHH NO! It happened every day, several times a day for the next week and a half. Well then one day, it just so happened to be my sons first day of first grade. I got all three of my children loaded up and went to start my car and NOTHING. Gauges started going haywire, lights were working, but the car was completely dead. Had to have it towed! Come to find out the dealership said it was just a dead battery, but yet it tested to be a good one. Really?!? So they choose not to replace it, and they just recharged it. Well then my key fob started acting up again so I had to take it back to the dealership. They then checked the voltage of the key fob and it was too low, so they replaced the battery and the key fob all together. Well five days later, my key fob started acting up again. At this point I was just pissed off and took it BACK to the dealership and showed them what it was doing and again they couldnt find any record of it. Well, come to find out my computer is not recording anything, not a permanent code, not a temp code, nothing! So I contact Mazda and they tell me to take my car back...for the 5th time, and their own tech personally took my car home to try and reduplicate the issue. While he had my car, he had his own personal animal in the back as there was dog hair everywhere, and someone tried to break into it...slits in the window seal, pried trimming by the window; it was all messed up, but at least he saw my car RPMs sticking...but again, my car was not keeping the codes...AGAIN!!! I told them that this should of been a red flag that something was wrong with the computer. They told me that they couldnt fix anything because they couldnt find a problem wrong with it. Well I got it back on Friday and the following day my BF and I were at a red light and it decided it did not want to shift. My BF had to put the car into the semi auto mode and then back into the auto mode before it would even go forward. Needless to say, I took it back today (Monday) and they refused to take the car back...They decided to sell me another one, an upgraded one, but told me to keep my phone away from the push to start ignition...Uhh...why!?!? Im not happy and I wanted to get away from Mazda altogether, but the only way they were going to take the messed up car back was for them to buy me out from that car, and sell me another one...so hopefully this one works. Not only did I get an upgraded car, but its the same model and then they JACKED my payments up! Never do business with Mazda.

On January 20, I received a letter from Mazda Corporate due to certain issues with certain vehicles, including mine. From my understanding, the timing chain on certain models had turned out to be defective and this would extend the warranty for that specific part and problems caused by it to 70,000 miles. The letter advised that if the consumer experiences a ticking noise, they need to contact the closest Mazda Dealership. Never experiencing any problems, as mentioned above, I got curious and did some research which led me to find out that this problem had affected many so I decided to schedule an appointment for Friday, February 3, to which I never made it to.About a week after receiving the letter, my Mazdas engine failed at 67,000 miles. I was stuck under pouring, cold rain trying to push it off the road. After getting it towed to the North Penn Mazda Dealership, I was notified the following morning that my vehicle was diagnosed with engine failure. I researched it and came to the conclusion that the connecting rod between the crank shaft and the piston has broken causing it to go through the engine block and make a hole. The Mazda technician that inspected it told me that the failure most likely was not related to the timing chain but to make an accurate statement, they would need to open up the engine for which I would have to pay $800.00 to $1,000.00. I opened a case file with the corporate, which after contacting the dealership, told me that since the damage most likely is not related to the timing chain, Mazda was not liable regardless the fact that the source of the problem was not diagnosed. After getting many opinions from other technicians, I came to the conclusion that there is nothing that I, as a responsible consumer, could have done to prevent this from happening and that the engine was most likely poorly manufactured. I looked more in this matter and with simple sources of research I found out that there had been numerous similar cases throughout North America. With that in mind, I contacted the Service Manager at the Mazda Dealership seeking for help but I was shut down with two words out of warranty. The service manager told me that he understands my frustration and that when one purchases a $25,000 vehicle they expect to get more than 67,000 miles out of it, however, there was nothing he could do after contacting his corporate representative. After sending many emails I received a response from Mazda customer service explaining that if I did authorize the diagnosis and it resulted to show manufacturing defect, Mazda would cover the expenses to fix the damage. I called to confirm the email and after investigating the case, a gentleman from the customer service department left me a voice mail confirming the information. The following day I received another call from customer service stating that Mazda would not honor the statement made on the email and that no assistance will be offered. I requested to speak to a manager who got back to me two days later. Mr. G stated that Mazda will not offer any assistance of any form regardless the outcome of the diagnosis and the email sent did not imply what it stated.Meanwhile my technician had diagnosed the issue and had concluded that the damage was caused by bad assembly, poorly put together and that should be covered by the manufacturer. The conclusion, if I want to be able to drive this car again, I will need $6,000.00 plus taxes to replace the engine which I had no fault and no contribution in breaking.

Mazda MX-5 drain system design flaw. Mazda NA does not care. I had a very similar experience to previous post by Daniel of Palo Alto, CA on Feb. 2, 2011. Mazda North America customer service seems happy to lose a lifetime of customer loyalty for a $10 parts and maybe $100 labor fix that was a known issue since mid-production year 2006-2007. I should have been notified or the quick fix should have been done at one of the many visits to the dealership I had between 2008 and 2010 (over $16k in invoices over those years). I cannot begin to speak how angering it was that customer service insisted the entire Mazda NA Operations does not have access to Technical Service Bulletins (TSB), and therefore it would be up to the dealership to cover the fix for a manufacturing design flaw if they desired. I told the rep that the dealership actually pointed the other way citing that Mazda NA has to decide to cover it free of charge since it is not the dealership that designed the drain system. I told the rep that I want to speak with another more experienced agent or a supervisor to confirm that. The rep flat out flipped the script citing, No. No other agent or supervisor can help you. I am sorry you do not understand that. I am sorry that you interpret what I said that way. I am sorry that no one here can help you. I am ending this call now. Are you serious?! Are they trying to hurt market share? I personally will not be buying a Mazda again unless I have disposable income for a disposable car. The damage to their reputation in North America has been done in my eyes.

I have a 2008 Mazda CX-9 with 139,000 miles on it. I bought the car because Motor Trend gave it import SUV of the year and due to its positive reviews on maintenance. So far weve had pretty good luck with this SUV until now. From the research Ive done and from whats been confirmed by both Mazda USA customer service and a local dealer service the transfer case out of the factory is in fact faulty and did in fact ruin the transmission. Ive done extensive research on this and this is absolutely a known issue that the transfer case is ruining these transmissions. Ive also discovered that the Mazda dealerships in my area are selling upwards of 4 transfer cases per week and often out of stock due to this replacement of the faulty transfer case coming out of the factory. I cannot understand why Mazda hasnt sent out a bulletin to its valued customers regarding this. I can only imagine the lack of transparency on this is due to the large financial impact it may have. I am contacting you to request that you take this issue to whomever can help resolve my case and provide significant financial assistance towards the replacement of my transmission and faulty transfer case. Ive been told that Mazda apparently has a software update that would fix this issue--but I find it impossible to believe as I have never received any notification of this being an issue or any software update to fix this faulty transfer case. I find it hard to believe that a software upgrade is going to fix a mechanical issue and cannot find any evidence of this software update being legitimate.Mazda supposedly makes a quality product and supposedly cares about customer loyalty and service. I would say that not telling your customers about a faulty part (known issue on factory transfer case) that DESTROYS the transmission and causes SIGNIFICANT financial hardship is not fair or reasonable customer service.

Just passed 24000km on the odometer and the brand new 2016 CX3 I bought a year ago has a complete transmission failure. I had to bring it into the dealership (Stoney Trail Mazda) in Calgary AB Canada for a period of 4 weeks. They had to replace the complete transmission which took 2 weeks and after the replacement there was still noises coming from the vehicle, they took another two weeks to find out what was wrong and was complete clueless. They told me they did further work by replacing the flywheel and a number of other parts. The dealership is making an effort and did fix everything without further cost to me and did provide a rental vehicle which I appreciate greatly. However, I completely lost confidence in Mazda as a company. Ive been a long time Mazda owner and the fact that the dealership is not stepping up to replace a clearly lemon/defective vehicle is really upsetting. This will be the last Mazda I will ever own. Stay away from the Mazda CX3!!!

We just discovered a leak on the passenger side floor area when the AC is on. Removed the mat and the carpet was soaked. Musty smell followed. The dealer said that he had never heard this complaint for this model but did list a number of other models where the AC drain was clogged and required unclogging. Fine. This should not be happening. It will cost their hourly rate to diagnose the problem. Sounds like a design issue. On the drivers side there has also been a leak that occurs after a big rain. The water is puddled on the mat. The passenger side trickles down and under the mat. Any feedback would be helpful.

OK, the car drives and handles well so thats why it gets two stars but otherwise owning it has been awful. The computer needs to update? Reboots in the middle of driving. No kidding, literally on the road, using the navigation I spent several hundred dollars for, the cars computer reboots. Not once, twice. I take it to the dealership, the guy says yeah, the computer needs to be updated, no big deal. Then there is the computer not recognizing my phone 9 times out of 10, including when I wanted to dial 911 to report an accident. So useful! Even when it does recognize the phone, want to play Pandora? Better have the phone on and Pandora open or else nope. Open phone and turn on Pandora after the car decides it cant find them? Nope. Not going to recognize Pandora until you turn the car off and back on again. Want to use the iPod that is literally plugged into it? Maybe. We might let you. Unless we refuse to recognize it until you reboot the iPod and turn off and on the car. Then the drivers seat ripped within a few months of purchase. I took it in, it took weeks to replace the seat. Then the plastic piece that protects the electronics under the drivers seat broke. I took it in, got it fixed, that took weeks because the part had to be ordered. It broke again. I got it fixed again. It just broke this evening, and I just dont even know what to do. I deeply regret purchasing this vehicle.

As a Mazda customer and owner, I feel like I am being treated unjustly in regards to the recent Special Service Program warranty extension for the Mazdaspeed 6. Additionally, I had the most inexcusable and appalling experience at one of your Mazda Dealership locations.Special Service Warranty: This January, Mazda released a Special Service Program to extend the warranty coverage for the specific repair of the Variable Valve Timing (VVT) noise and/or timing chain noise concern for my vehicle. However, the warranty coverage for the specific repair is extended to 7 years from the original warranty start date or 70,000 miles, whichever comes first. The letter was broadly dated January 2012. A customer service representative named Jason informed me that the letters were sent out 1/13/2011. However, I did not receive the letter until 1/21/12, and my mileage is now 72,800.The Special Service Program letter was not received until Saturday 1/21/12. In November of 2011 is when I first started hearing the rattling/ticking noise. In your letter you describe the problem as a loud ticking noise may be exhibited from the VVT when the engine is first started at cold condition After the engine warms up, some vehicles may exhibit a knocking/rattling type noise from the front timing cover and/or valve cover at engine speeds below 2,000 rpm, due to excessive stretching of the timing chain. Following is a warning that the warranty extension does not apply if the problem is caused by poor vehicle maintenance. However, I can assure you that I have kept up to date with oil changes (using the correct weight oil), I keep a maintenance log, purchase everything from the same pep boys, and am willing to provide proof of receipts if necessary.Since November, I have been trying to explain and pin point this issue to a family friend who happens to be my mechanic. If you were to repeat the above quote to any mechanic, 100% of them would say, I need to hear the noise first. Being that you do not hear the noise 100% of the time, it has been extremely difficult to identify the repair with my mechanic until this letter came, which clearly states the root of the problem. Back in November, the car was under the 70,000-mileage limit; in fact I was still under the limit though most of December. However, I drive about 90 miles a day during my commute to and from work. By the time the letter was received, and I was finally aware of the actual problem, I happened to be 2,800 miles over the limit. After some calculations based on driving 90 miles a day, I would have first breached the 70,000 mile limit 31 days ago, or roughly around December 20. According to Jason, one of your customer service representatives, he informed me these letters were sent out on January 13, 2012. If the letters were sent out just four weeks prior then I would have been under the 70,000-mile limit. I can understand if Mazda were to deny the warranty extension for drivers with say 90,000 miles at the time of the letter. But to deny Mazda owners who are over the limit by a mere few weeks is absolutely arbitrary and uncalled for.To recognize the problem at hand and issue a Special Service Program is a start but I urge you to look at the 70,000-mile limit as a gray line, and not such a black and white one. This will help instill faith back into Mazda Owners such as myself. Please be open to understand and accept extenuating circumstances. Thousands of Americans file wrongful lawsuits everyday out of greed. My only wish is to have Mazda bear the costs of the repair. I know I am not the only Mazdaspeed6 owner in this situation and I hope others will be as persistent as me to have their opinions on the matter heard. I have a file # on record for VIN# JM1GG12L171110311 if you wish to view at your convenience.

I have an 2007 Mazda B2300 truck which I bought in July 2010. On January 28, 2012, I noticed a leak coming from the differential. I immediately called the two Mazda dealerships closest to me, but being a Saturday, neither would take me that day. I had to get somebody to at least look at this, so I ended up at a Meineke shop, which Id been going to for several years. Leak turned out to be the pinion seal which I had them fixed. The following Thursday, I had to bring it back to Meineke, because the differential was making whining noise. Meineke offered to do the warranty work, and I agreed. I put a claim into Mazdas service contract. They then dragged their feet and called on a third party adjuster to come and look at the damage. After a week of the truck up in the air on Meinekes rack, per lack of communication with Mazdas warranty people, I had to OK Meineke to open up the differential, etc. It turned out the main bearing had gone bad. This adjuster decided I was at fault for not maintaining it and also that the shop was at fault for not tightening the pinion nut tight enough on their former pinion seal job. This was all a bogus excuse though. Nowhere is there any maintenance schedule for the differential in the contract nor in the owners manual. The shop had tightened the pinion nut the first time so hard, they said any harder and it wouldve stripped. Still Mazda denies me coverage based on this adjusters bogus theories. Mechanics say the bearing went bad causing a wobble in the drive shaft which in turn compromised the pinion seal, thus causing the leak. Differential was still running smooth and noiseless, when I discovered the leak and took it in. This then has nothing to do with lack of maintenance running out of oil or the pinion nut not being torqued down properly. I had to pay the shop out of pocket for part of the bill, as they gave me a break. They also paid for a rental car for the week, which also should be covered by Mazda. Local attorneys say this would really be small claims, but now Im searching on where to have papers served to Mazda as they have no real office in California, etc. Meineke shop owner and his mechanics are willing to come to court to give their expert opinion, etc.

After more than 30 years being a Toyota car owner, I made the mistake to buy a new Mazda CX9. Last week, I went to the car wash. When I came out I found out that the BSM (blind spot monitor) stop working. So I took the car to the dealer and they found out a very tiny scratch, an inch long. It wasnt a dent, not even damage the paint. But they said that this damage the computer, and they send me to their Mazda collision shop and want to charge me 1,500$ plus a new computer. While the bluetooth for mobile calls continued to function, the radio was dead. After a diagnostic service call, I was informed radio is dead and cannot communicate with module or amplifier and needs a replacement. I have never heard of a radio simply dying after 4 years. The Mazda service solution was to offer a replacement radio for $950.00.

Mazda CX5 2015 is A PIECE of crap. I bought this car from Browning Mazda two months ago. It is about 6000 mileage. I always have long distances travel. Two days ago, this car suddenly cant be reversed in the freeway. It kept going straight. Later on it became normal again. I drove very slowly to Browning Mazda to have examination on my car. They checked it. They told me everything is fine. They couldnt find any code related to my problem. I trusted them. I took my car back. But during my last trip, same problem happened again in the freeway. I almost lost my life. So, called Mazda to toll my car back to them. They only paid for 18 miles. I paid 208 dollars to tolling company. It has been three days. They still kept my car. They said they need to have engineer to come to check my car. I dont have a car to use for three days already. They dont offer any solution. Pieces of **. Please dont risk your life to buy Mazda car. There are a lot of bad reviews for this brand.

Back in January, a pebble hit my windshield on my way to the airport. Needless to say, I had damage the size of a .50 cent piece. I called my insurance company and they use a TPA that replaces windshields for them. It took the company 6 weeks to install my new windshield, because every time the windshield was delivered it was cracked. Just Monday, April 25th, I am driving to work and another pebble hit my windshield. I did not think much of it, until then I saw a spider crack going up my windshield... Not again! Is there a defect with these windshields? Then, it takes 4-6 weeks for a replacement to be installed because Mazda is SO backed up from California and then they arrive broken. I would appreciate Mazda to respond and to fix this issue, as this is a serious defect! It is against the law to drive with a broken windshield. And then be told that there is a 6-8 week back order. One window replacement company told me 3 months... are you kidding me! Mazda - you need to look into a recall!!! If not, you will have class-action on your hands!

This vehicle has been very dependable with no major repairs needed. Ive been a bit disappointed as to the fuel economy. The model I purchased was a 4-cylinder. Ive only been getting around 25 mpg on the highway, not as fuel efficient as other 4-cylinder pickups Ive owned in the past. The interior is a bit cramped, but then again, it is a small pickup. Overall, Ive been happy with it. I may opt for a 6-cylinder pickup next time around which will be a bit more powerful than a 4-cylinder and still economical to drive.

I live in the Chicagoland area and on a recent freezing day I came out to the car after work to find that the rear drivers side window had shattered completely. Thankfully the car is under warranty and my dealer made it very easy to fix but I dont think this should happen.

Dealership sucks, vehicle is good! No doubt that I had done my homework. Family I come from ** is Honda lovers and this was first time, I went out and opted for #mazdacanada. Mazda has some great features which Honda was missing and I was forced to cut down ROGUE because 4 cameras were headache and risky than technology developed by #mazda. Honda CRV, I realized is under power engine and whenever you need force/power, you can sense a howling and growling engine. It has overpriced itself and these two were major reason to opt for Mazda CX-5. There is one camera but sensors are used so intelligently that I have to say they made a niche for themselves. As soon as a car is in your blind spot - you dont/should not be looking into camera feeds - in Mazda CX-5, sensors make a yellow light glow in your mirror with a beep indicating that there is vehicle or person in your blind spot. I am over six feet - so entering and exiting is slight... a little bit tight... I have to adjust my posture of entering and exiting from this vehicle. My dealer experience was not as good as I wanted to be - #abbotsfordautomall #automall where #vipmazda is situated, didnt clarify before I reach to finance department that #bumper to bumper warranty is for 3 years only. They try to sell you insurance cover for those extra 2 years. Second bad taste happened, again when I was facing finance department that INSURANCE have to be from the dealer. They informed me that INSURANCE cannot be done from outside brokers or agents! Coming back to vehicle, its comfortable and nice... Ride is good but still cabin is not silent as I was expecting... In total, this is great vehicle which shows innovations and intelligent designing done by Mazda. This is made in Japan and quality of interior is not as bad as we see in Honda CRV. I like the way sensors handles vehicle and its power... when FWD will be changed in AWD is done auto. Thus it saves lot of fuel. I have driven it in fresh snow, black ice and the way vehicle managed traction and control is awesome. Seating is good and boot is comfortable too. I would definitely suggest this vehicle for small family usage - its navigation and sunroof is added features which helps in movement.

Mazda has a horrible policy. They do not contact users through DMV so if your information for your car is not up to date through a dealership then you will not get notified if theres a recall or repair for your car. So in my situation the extended warranty for the part I had a problem with was 10 years and the 10th year was covid year. I found out there was a warranty replacement but it was too late and they wont own up to the fact that they dont notify everyone that has the car/issue and said its my fault for not taking my car to a dealer to get service? Whats that nonsense?

My experience with Mazda overall meaning corporate and the dealership has been horrendous. I think we should all get together and file a class action lawsuit. Mazda is making cars with defects. The dealer did a spot delivery spot scam on me. My car has been having all sorts of issue with the brakes not working properly and just recently the transmission. I have had it. Corporate does nothing. The VP Shawn Murphy is interested in money. Do not buy a Mazda unless you have it checked out first.

I bought my 2015 Mazda CX-5 from Fox Mazda in Grand Rapids, MI in February of 2018. At the time it had 31,000 miles on it. Last week, I went to start my cart and the engine started and then sputtered and died. After getting a tow, the Mazda dealership in WI (where I now live) has informed me that my high-pressure fuel pump has failed. Between the tow, labor, and parts it is going to be over $1,000 to repair an item that should not be breaking on a car with less than 50,000 miles. On top of that, the part is apparently back-ordered and I was told that it could take anywhere from a week to a month for them to get the part in. So now, I am without a car for an indeterminate amount of time as a result of fuel pump failure on a relatively new car with low miles.

At around 4:30 PM just last October 2, while traveling south at 30-35mph on Hunziker St. near Wall St. Tigard, OR. I had to center a piece of debris in the road and it struck and punctured the engine oil pan. This minor contact deployed both airbags which busted the windshield and knocked out my radio, vent louvers and rearview mirror. My research via the internet found this to be an issue with 95 Miatas. Please look into this issue to confirm if Mazda is responsible for the bags/glass/control module, sensors and switches. Understandably, the oil pan is my problem, and thank goodness I was not injured by the bags or fling glass and was able to maintain control of the vehicle.

My daughter brought her Mazda Tribute 2002 in for the 6712A Recall, which is something to do with the ABS Braking system. The dealer that did the work was very nice and courteous. She lives in North Dakota and had the work done in North Dakota. She was not having any trouble with the ABS braking system but thought she should have it done for safety reason per the notification she received in the mail. After the work was done, she drove away and a little ways down the road her ABS Light came on. So, she turned around and went back to the dealer that did the work. They checked it over and could not find why the light is coming on. She explained that the light has not coming on before and now after the recall, that is coming on and staying on. The dealer said that she was going to have to pay to do the diagnostic testing any further in order to fix it. They sent my daughter away with a questionable proper working braking system because Mazda didn’t want to pay for a recall procedure that more than likely is the cause of the problem. My daughter went home, parked the vehicle and called the Mazda Headquarters the next day (1-800-222-5500). “I recommend everyone that reads this, call and complain about the response I receive about this situation”. They said exactly the same thing; she would have to pay for any further diagnostic testing to find out the problem. At that point I called to hopefully clarify the ethical thing to do and for the important customer service we all hope to receive in any situation like this. I tried to emphasize to them the level of awareness to the liability issues in sending someone you love dearly home, with possible braking issues. But they stuck with their resolution that she needs to pay to fix it. Never mind the safety for their customers. They said that I may not have anything to do with the recall! Maybe it was just coincidental that the light came on now. They said that if the report comes back that it was caused by the recall they would reimburse her for the correction/diagnostics. Why would she have to pay first for something that was never wrong at the beginning? I told them to put it all back in the way it was. Mazda said they can’t do that due to Liability reasons. Wow! Go Figure. My point is that it’s not the money issue with this, it is the ethics and I would like to see some real customer support in something nowadays.

I purchased a 2017 Mazda 6 Sport at Fremont Mazda. So far I absolutely love my car. My salesman was great in having everything ready when I came in to sign I because I had to get back to work by a certain time. My problem is with Mazdas finance department. A little background. The last time I purchased a new car from a dealership was 30 years ago. It was very simple. I was offered upgrades. I declined. No problem. This time around when I got home I Sat and looked over my contract and saw optional service contracts below was Mazda Maintenance $2,150.00. I recall the finance person mentioning oh and you have 5 years free maintenance at any Mazda Service Center in California. My thought is oh that must be the manufactures warranty.I contacted my salesman and Im told its for a optional service contract. I was never offered this optional item, no one said to me we can add this free maintenance service to your purchase for an extra $2,150.00. I was furious. My salesman contacted me. Said if I didnt want it they would remove it and write up a new contract. I went back to the dealership. Signed a new contract. My car payment is now $50.00 a month cheaper. That should have been the end of it but lo & behold I find another optional on my contract in the amount of $795.00 for Debt Cancellation Option Agreement which I googled and is GAP insurance which again I was not asked if I wanted this insurance added to my contract.Oh on the first issue I filed a complaint with the State Attorney Generals Office Consumer Complaints. Today Im waiting for The State Insurances Commissioners Office to call me back and advise me what I should. My real concern with all this is how many other people have been victims of the same and dont know where to ask for help or arent even aware optional items have been added to their contract without their consent!

Recently, I had an issue with my vehicle when it wouldnt start. I had my car towed to my mechanic in Indialantic. He ran the diagnostic test on my car and found out that the ECM computer system had failed, and also fried 6 of my coils. My mechanic had given me a quote of $1,400 for repairs. In the meantime, I was calling around to see if I could find an ECM for a cheaper price. I came across an EPA federal warranty that stated: Any vehicle with less than 80,000 miles and less than 8 yrs. old is entitled to this EPA warranty on any specified major emission control components. The warranty states that all components are covered and the manufacturer will have to repair the components free of charge. I brought the warranty over to my mechanic to look it over. He stated that he would call Mazda and find out if they will honor this federal warranty. My mechanic spoke with a gentleman named Robert **. He approved the use of the warranty and told the mechanic to have us bring the vehicle over to Mazda. The next day, I paid to have the car towed to Mazda. Robert ** stated that he would call me before he started to give me a price on the repairs. When he called later that afternoon, he gave me a quote of $1,700. This was $300 more than my mechanic. He then called back again and stated that he would drop the cost to $1,345. It is costing me the same price with the warranty as it would have at my mechanics garage, without the warranty. I also had to pay to have the car towed to Mazda. I only brought it over to Mazda because the gentlemen stated he would honor the warranty, and he is charging me more. I feel belittled and taken advantage of.

My 2005 Mazda 6 broke down along side road. The engine only had 40,000 miles on it. I called Bob and he told me to have it towed there and hed take care of me. I was later told that the engine blew but as his crew looked at it, they verified that the engine and oil was clean. He said hed call regional and see what he could do for me to get the engine repaired or replaced. After several weeks of run around, I was finally told that it was going to cost $90 for the service team to look at the engine. I was then informed that he could put a salvaged engine in for $4,000. I about freaked out--$4,000 for a used engine that came with a mere 90-day warranty? I called Mazda headquarters and was told that I shouldve bought an extended warranty. I told her that she was crazy as no car costing over $20,000 should have a blowing engines with a mere $40,000. I then asked if Mazda would help out by paying for the service or the engine--or at least half, so that I could get the car back working. She told me that Bob offered me a great deal and I had refused him. I told her what he offered and $4,000 for a used engine plus other parts as needed didnt sound like a good deal to me at all. I asked her, If it was you car, would you not expect Mazda to stand behind their product and assist? She told me that Mazda stands behind their products and I shouldve purchased the extended warranty. After reviewing the Internet, I found out that Mazda 6 engines seem to have a lot of loss of oil or blow out problems. I always thought Mazda was a good company but I know Ill never purchase another. Ill make sure that everyone I speak with would hear about my experience with the vehicle, the dealers run around, and the arrogance at Mazda HQ in California.

My 2001 Mazda Millenia broke my heart and my bank. I bought it from Duncan Auto in Key West. It was lovely and it still is, but the engine is useless. The hold light went on and the transmission began to burn. When I called Duncan, the dealer where I had purchased, they said that their mechanics wouldnt touch it. I tried some more local mechanics who had their way with the car and charged me heavy but still the problem persisted. The car could not be driven over 25 mph and I couldnt go anywhere without the transmission burning up. Finally, at my expense, I had it towed to a Mazda dealer in Miami. They said that it needed a new transmission at a cost of $6000.00. The car cost me most of my savings ($17,000.00) which was a lot of money for me and was the first nice thing I ever bought myself and it lasted only two years. This cleaned me out and I cant afford another car at this time. The car still sits in front of my house and forever a painful reminder. Do your research people and buyer beware. First, I would like to say I have been satisfied with my Mazda product. I have had my car now for 12 years and have had virtually no issues other than normal maintenance. However, my car has had several recalls, one of which came after I had already had and paid for the repair. That is where I have my problem with Mazda. The recall stated it takes 6-8 weeks to process a claim on repairs that have been recalled, o.k., I get it. I sent my recall reimbursement form and supporting documents registered mail, which was a smart move on my part, because they first tried to claim that they did not receive my recall repayment request. I told them that a representative had signed for the registered mail 4 days after I sent it. So they requested. I fax the form and supporting documents. I waited approximately 4 weeks to see what the status on my refund was. Mazda Recall Center told me they cant send a check because the repair was made with a credit payment (it was a debit card that was used for the payment on an account I had already closed). So they told me after a week later, when I called again, that they would have to get an approval to send a check. I waited 2 more weeks, called and was told that the check should be on the way 2-3 weeks. I waited 3 weeks to call back, and have now been told that it will take another 2-3 weeks to get the reimbursement. I feel as the Mazda is Hemming and Hawing with this issue for whatever reason and would like to know if anyone else has been having this type of issue with Mazda.

I purchased a 2015 Mazda CX7 from Looms Ford in Fredericksburg Virginia June of 2015. At the time of purchase the vehicle had 37K. Looms Ford knew that the battery was going, told me when theres a problem, contact us. When the car wouldnt start about 6 weeks later, I called and they informed me, not their problem. The battery blew up under the hood, had it towed, mechanic said he never seen anything like it. Thats the first problem. Car made a whistle noise, come to find out its the turbo. Mind you this car has only 64K miles on it.Called Mazda, told them the turbo had failed. They want records of all maintenance. I can give them records of battery situation because the car was towed. But when it comes to changing oil or filters, I am quite capable. Now they wont fix turbo because I chose to change my own oil instead of paying someone else to do it. Mazda us nothing but a letdown. 2012 CX9 Transmission failure. I bought a new CX9 in 2013, primarily because we wanted a reliable car for my wife. It was a good car up until about the summer of 2019 when the transmission started to shudder in 5/6 gears. With only 118K miles, we took it to the dealer and they confirmed the torque converter was bad. So I was 18k miles past my extended warranty mileage and I was told it would cost me $3600 for a new transmission...and could be more if the front transaxle has issues. This was our first Mazda and we are so disappointed in the quality of these cars and with the response from mazda...which was no response. Ive owned many cars and never had any transmission issues of this magnitude. So going forward, I will only buy Honda or Toyota cars. Mazda should be ashamed of putting out this crap to consumers and sticking them (us) with a bill that we cant afford.

Within 40.000[sic] miles our bluetooth unit in our CX-9 broke. No warranty and a $900 repair bill if we wanted to repair it. We opted out and are now using Bluetooth headset. Less than 60.000[sic] miles CD player goes out and we cannot load or take out the CDs and not even play the cds that are in there. Less than 80.000[sic] miles DVD player goes out. So basically we are back to good old radio only. Also one of the entry keys failed which is about $300 to replace. Sealing rubber on the driver window side is leaking and creates a lot of cabin noise. That said the car drives nice although it is a gas guzzler. So if you are looking to Zoom without any media and lots of wind noise the Mazda CX-9 is what you are looking for. MAZDA 3 SkyActive - I have only 2200 miles on this auto and it has a peculiar issue. When driving at various speeds, when you press the brake to slow down and stop, this car revs from roughly 1000 RPM to almost 3,000 RPM. This causes the car not to want to stop even when pressing down on the brake. This car is dangerous to drive for wife and myself due to this various serious issue. This has happened about 6 times this year and I bought the car new. I keep it parked most of the time of having the fear of creating an accident if I cant stop and hit the car in front of me.I even took out the floor mat in front, checked the front floor for object, and clearances and everything looks good. I even am careful to the footwear that I drive in so that wont cause any problems. My wife refuses to drive the car at all. I have taken this car into service 2 times and the dealer told me that there was no apparent problem and had no issues. They did say that they had to adjust the engine a bit to keep it running smoother, case closed. Not so! This keeps occurring and I want to know if this has been an ongoing issue with this tin can or is the car I own a lemon? This is a very, very dangerous situation and if no one gets killed or hurt it could become a case for a class action lawsuit like Toyota a few years ago. I have never had this type of problem happen with any car that I have previously owned. The problem about should be brought to someones attention for everyone out there.

I bought a new MX on Jan 16, 2016. I already owned a 2004 MX5 that I bought new in 2002. When I bought my new car I asked if I qualified for the $500 loyalty incentive, which they assured me I did. After the close, the sales mgr had me fill out paperwork and submit a copy of my 2002 cars current registration. He said it would take about 3 weeks to process. It has now been 3 months and I still have not received the $500. I have called the Mazda customer care # several times, and I have contacted the dealership several times. I would like to warn you people out there about this dealership, seems to be a common theme with Mazda. This link verifies that the entire Mazda corporation has a systemic problem with accountability and safety measures. A dealership that sells a vehicle to a senior citizen with dementia is an all time low, unless youre Midway Mazda which seems to be acceptable. You can get this information from the MVSA BC complaints and cases against this particular dealership under the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA). Actually you can see it online as well, because it did go to court.Furthermore, they have had at least 9 abandoned cases all in a row, dating back to 2008 courtesy of the MVSA (Motor Vehicle Sales Authority which is Non-Profit, meaning donations and taxpayer funded) in which the MVSA manager indicates they lost those files, updating the computer system. MVSA is no better than the slum dealership it represents. They talk their way out of any type of action. If youre thinking about filing a complaint against Mazda through MVSA, make sure you read the policies and know your rights. Funny thing is that the MVSA Manager didnt even know what his own policies were, and when I told him, he was in disbelief and denial. If its in writing then its legal, talk is cheap. I waited over 9 months just to get a meeting, because they kept blowing me off, and didnt even bother to tell me why? This dealership falsified the inspection reports and would not take care of any issues brought up that were safety hazards, or even non-safety issues that cost me money out of my pocket. Its simple, downright neglectful and deceitful. The entire process from start to end was absolutely ridiculous from non-service to the product. I have been dealing with this issue for just about 2 years. I have wrote reviews, and sent letters to every organization and governing body under the sun. I have all the proof in the world, and civil court is the only way to go now. I would think twice about this dealership and I will make sure everyone knows about it too. I also would not buy from the Nissan next to this dealership as it is the same owner. Make yourselves accountable, instead of hiding behind poor policy, excuses and lies, because in the end it will hit your wallet! Disappointed taxpayer/owner of a Mazda.

We bought a fully loaded CX5 in 8/14. It was the best decision weve made. Because of my back problems, I need to have a seat thats adjustable as well as an upright position. The CX5 provides that for me. Last summer we drove across the country and depending on my back, I was able to make adjustments to make it very comfortable for when I drove as well as being a passenger. The safety features such as the blind spot monitoring, the rear camera, and the automatic lights and windshield wipers were so helpful when driving. I felt so safe in this car. Mileage was good too, the car still has under 12K and were doing 26.7 mpg total. My only negative is that the rear hatch/door is not power controlled. In a fully loaded car I wouldve expected that, but it was not an option. I do want to note about some of the other reviews here - people need to explain their problems better. Owners also have to be realistic. How one drives a car does affect brakes. Front end Collisions only trigger front air bags (not side ones). Injuries can be caused by not wearing seat belts. And yes, sometimes cars have defects, but tens of thousands of cars are made of a particular model each year. A few will have problems from the get go. This is why many states have lemon laws. But if 5 people report the same problem, this is not a defect. Most likely your car got that 1 in 25,000 bad part. In that situation, if you can definitely prove it was Not your fault, you may get the maker to pay for the repair. But usually you cant, so hope the bill is low - that’s all.

First off, the Mazda Tribute is not a Mazda, its a Ford!!! Second, nobody will warranty a clutch because well most of you dont know how to drive a standard properly and will just ride them. Ive put 2 clutches in a person’s car because they ride it and dont know how to shift. Third, any turbo engine sucks, no matter who makes it, they all have problems. Fourth, up until 2014, the Mazda 6 was not a real Mazda, once again, built by Ford. Fifth, the recall for the Tribute for the throttle sticking was only on a V6 motor because of the engine cover laying too low from a valve cover stud and causing the cruise control cable to stick under rapid acceleration. Sixth, most of you with bad motors, youre not really doing your oil changes on time, so shut up. Seventh, mismatched or differently worn tires can/will cause damage to transfer cases, transmissions, and rear differentials. Eighth, cars rust especially if you live in an area where salt is used all winter. Ninth, your personal mechanic buddy probably cant describe the difference between 4WD and AWD, he doesnt know everything, he just wants to seem like the good guy so he gets your business. And tenth, if you have a RX8, its not a race car, rev it up before you shut it off to avoid flooding, and DONT MODIFY IT. Hope this sums up all your complaints easy because I got sick of trying to help people with ideas of what may be wrong.

Year and a half ago, I bought a CX-7 2008. At first it was great, loved that car! It was perfect for our family and loved the way it drove. A year later, things started majorly happening. I noticed that the tires were wearing down fast. I had it aligned and rotated when I needed to. I did everything on the right time line, but still the tires started going bald fast. Then I took it in for a routine oil change and was told that the oil cooler was leaking. When I bought the car from a dealer, that was an issue, and the dealer fixed it before I bought it. Now a year later, it was leaking again. So I took it to my mechanic and he checked it out. He found that not only was it leaking, but that the engine was going because there were metal parts in the oil. I had to buy a new engine! Now 6 months later, the oil cooler is leaking again!!!! I asked the Mazda dealership why? They didnt have any answers for me. Now Im backwards in this piece of junk!!! And I have to have a car to go to work. I have a limited income because Im a teacher and when talking to Mazda, there is nothing that can be done.

I drive a 2009 Mazda CX9. On Friday Sept 18th I had picked my kids and friends up from school. Normally I wouldnt stop and grab a coffee but I did. When we came out and were getting back in the car I heard a bang, I looked and my front left tire was just about falling off. Thank God we stopped because I would have been driving with 4 kids in the car. I had to have the car towed, and have my brothers friend that is a mechanic look at it. One week later on Friday, Sept 25th I got a safety recall letter in the mail saying lower control arm ball joint can corrode, well that is what happened to mine. I Had it towed to a Mazda dealership. The Service Manager called to tell me I need new front tires. I said that should be part of the recall because everything I have read about symptoms of ball joints going bad is front tires balding. Well I have called Mazda three times and spoke to different people and nobody will help me. My back tires are just fine. I bought Mazda because I thought it was a safe family vehicle, I will be selling and getting something different.

I have a 2010 Mazda CX9 with approximately 23,000 miles on it. Last week, it was parked at the airport parking garage, and the power lift gate could not be closed, neither with the automatic button, nor manually, so I called the Mazda roadside assistance for help. Since the car was inside the parking garage, it was not possible to tow it. So, they connected me to some local dealership for some possible remote assistance, but the service center of the dealership was already closed. The only option I was left with, was to drive the car back home with the lift gate open (For sure, I didnt want to keep my car in the garage overnight with the lift gate open). Since the lift gate could not be closed due to malfunctioning, while coming out of the parking garage, it hit the concrete roof beam, and had severe damage.Mazda dealership found that the liftgate could not be closed due to malfunctioning of the motor. Since the car is within the warranty period, this will be fixed by them. But they denied to take the responsibility of the body damage, that was caused by this. Initially, they questioned why the roadside assistance was not called. When we gave them the details of my call to the roadside assistance, then they changed the statement to body damage is not covered under warranty. I understand that the body damage is normally not covered in warranty, but in this case, the damage occured because of the malfunctioning of the motor, which was under warranty. If the motor worked fine, then the body damage would not have occurred. So Mazda should take the responsibility of the damage that was caused by them. When asked what is the Mazda-recommended way to handle this situation, the zonal manager of Mazda told you could have left the car in the parking garage (with the liftgate completely open) and taken a rental car back home.

I own a Mazda 6 2007 model. I have been very displeased with both quality and reliability of this automobile. The problems I have had: interior roof light fell out, clips on light broke, coil pack shorted, catalytic converter, A/C compressor, rod bearings (ruined engine). My family currently has 5 Hondas, 2 CR-Vs and 3 Civics and all bought new. Together they have over 600,000 miles and other than wear and tear items (tires, brakes, oil filter), have had zero problem. Honda also has excellent customer relationship department at every dealership I go to. Advice to everyone, when driving down the road, notice what brands you see the most (in parking lots, on the road) and go buy from them.

It’s very reliable and you can’t lock yourself out of the car, which is a huge bonus! It’s been a great car and I ask a lot of it! Oh, one other thing ~ I occasionally drive for Uber and a lot of times people will get in and ask me what car this is, as they are really impressed.

My daughters RX-8 has been giving her a lot of trouble, completely dying at times while shes driving. Shes had it to a Mazda garage that told her that she needed new sparks plugs and wires, etc. She herself paid $1,400 to get this fixed (at this time, it was under warranty). The day after she got it home, it did the same exact thing. She took it back to the Mazda garage and then they told her that she needs a new engine, but her warranty had expired a couple days prior to her taking it back in. Now she is due to start her freshman year at college, with an unreliable car unless shed rather use her tuition money for a new engine (I dont think so). Mazda should be embarrassed to allow a young lady to feel unsafe, when she is trying to get an education and better herself. I dont know if there is any other avenue that I can take on this matter and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I bought my Mazda CX9 used (2008) Grand Touring. Loaded. 61,420 miles on it. I bought it from a dealership that is owned by the Major Mazda dealership in our area. 3 months into ownership, my husband noticed a dark sludge like oil dripping on our garage floor. There was also a lot of rattling when you stepped on the gas and high whining. Took it right to the dealer, they sent us to Mazda. Said it was the transfer case and they would put a new one in, but it cost 1100. It took 4 weeks, maybe 5 to get it done. Got it back, and it was ok for awhile. 3 months later the same thing happened again. This time they said it was under full part warranty and they would replace it yet again at no cost. I was without my car for another 6 weeks. This was all rectified by 2013. Here it is July 2015 and I just had it diagnosed that the transfer case is AGAIN gone bad. This time there is no warranty and it is going to cost me 6000 to fix it.They told me the first time it was being replaced with a new one. Why was that cost only 1100? And now it is 6000? I am probably going to have to get another car because it just isnt worth spending that kind of money to fix a car that has 115K miles on it. I just recently put 1000 worth of four new tires, and new front left wheel bearing (300) not to mention the FOB I had to have replaced for 325.00. I am not a happy camper. I have been reading about the exact same problems others have had. There is no recourse to hold them accountable? My car was very well taken care of too.

I have a 2008 Mazda 6, 2.3 Sport with 68,000 miles on it. The engine receives regular oil changes and has never been low on oil. Recently the engine started making a knocking sound at about 2500 rpm. The sound got worse and it would appear that I need a new engine at a cost of around $6000. I dont see how this could happen on a product that is less than 4 years old that has received regular maintenance. NEVER BUY MAZDA. Auto friend, I need your help and your expertise are great
NEVER BUY MAZDA. Auto friend, I need your help and your expertise are greatly appreciated. I have a 2016 Mazda CX9. I am fed up with MAZDA. I began having issues with my car prior to the powertrain warranty going out at 60,000 miles. My car began to idle very badly as if I had bad gas. The dealership suggested that I put in the fuel injection cleaner which I did. No resolution. I wasted money by advice of Dolan Mazda and paid out-of-pocket for new spark plugs for my vehicle. The issue was not resolved. Dolan then stated that the fuel pump went out which was the reason why my engine was full of gas and the car lost power. The fuel pump was replaced and the issue was not resolved. My car was transported to California because Mazda Reno does NOT have certified Mazda techs. My injectors and fuel injection system was updated in California yet The issue was not resolved. My car lost power again and I returned it to Reno. They stated that the throttle body went out which would cost $650. They replaced the throttle body. The issue Is still not resolved. I clearly have a lemon. Now they are telling me that they have to call the tech line because they have no clue why my vehicle will not run. Now they’re telling me there could be another issue as a result of the fuel pump going out and messing up the fuel injection. They said it was a domino effect that affected other issues on the car which is going be very expensive to repair. I have been without my car going on two months now and I’ve been going back-and-forth to the dealerships as my car was at 50,000 miles. The first time that Dolan MAZDA took possession of my car, they put 63 miles on the car test driving it. When I receive my car back from California, an additional 372 miles was put on my car. This is ridiculous!! This car again is clearly a lemon and they cannot figure out what’s wrong with my car. Now MAZDA is saying since I am now out of warranty, I must pay for repairs. I was in warranty the first 3 times they attempted to fix my car.

Purchased a CX9 new in 2007. Drove it with a few problems like the Prox key losing its program forcing us to buy a new one at the cost of $300 plus $100 programing. But thats the short of it... At 59000 miles I walk into the dealer and have them doing some recall work on the car. I tell them its transmission is kind of slipping. Service guy says dont worry and recommends a trans service... I say ok... Come back a month later ask for trans service and he says, Its over drivetrain warranty now. Maybe the service will help. Sounds like the trans is shot. The part alone is $9000 and removal is another $3000. Has no record of my issue at prior visit. Says there is no warranty. Said you dont service your car here so we wont help you. I ended up spending another $3k out of pocket having a trans shop rebuild the trans. If youre thinking about it... RUN FROM MAZDA!

I was driving to the city and suddenly I start hearing a faint tapping/knocking sound at low revolution per minute (rpm). I continued to drive to the city and took care of my business, and then came back home at the end of the day with no problems besides the fact that there was always that faint knocking sound at low rpm.The next day, I brought it to my local mechanic. He said the car is drivable, but I should bring it to Mazda because it is under warranty, and they should take care of it. I had the car towed to them because I didnt have the time to drive there, and I had free towing from Mazda since my vehicle is still under warranty.I called them every day until the third day they told me that there is a hole in my engine and oil was leaking out, and they wanted to see my oil change receipts. When I heard them tell me that, I said immediately that they must have the wrong car because my car came in running with no problems that they stated. There was no oil on the floor. I had checked the oil before it came to them, and it was perfect. My car was drivable. I obliged to their request because Mazda is a big corporation that must surely work honestly with their customers. I also figured that they were exaggerating when they said all of this. I sent them the information. After calling them repeatedly, they finally told me a week later that my receipts looked sketchy” and that Mazda Corporation wouldnt cover the warranty. I proceeded to tell them that their claim is totally false and impossible. I had the oil changed every 3-4 months, approximately 2500 miles (I drive locally and take the train to school). Then they proceeded to send it again to Mazda Corporation after I told them that there is a problem on their part. Again, they denied the warranty work. So, I went down to pick up the car after three weeks because I need my car. When I turned on the car, it sounded like a tractor and then would die on its own. I tried to start it up again and give it some gas, and the rpm fluctuated, then it dies. It was clearly not the condition that it was when I brought to them. The check engine light was on, and they said that I told them that it was knocking. My car was not drivable; it was in significantly worse shape and value than when I brought it to them. They gave me the runaround the whole time I was trying to correspond with them. The assistant manager, Jim, had a regular advisor deal with the situation, which is naive and lacking in responsibility on his part. This advisor just started two weeks prior and clearly didnt know anything. I asked him how this was possible. He kept on saying that he simply started two weeks ago, and he couldnt answer my questions. So, I said to him, “Can you get me someone who can get answers because you clearly cant help me.” He then raised his voice and made threats; so, I did the same. Then the manager came in and took over partially. He told me to call Mazda customer service, which I did right then and there. The customer service representative told me that I needed to deal with the dealership. After going back and forth between the dealership and the customer service, I left without my car because I didnt anticipate having to tow my car.The following week, I paid for a towing service to bring my vehicle to my local mechanic. I brought it to my mechanic locally, and after looking it over it, it looked like they drained the oil, and ran the engine at high rpm until the problem got worse enough for them to tell what the problem was. They obviously have done this many times and are professionals at this. They know exactly what to say, and what story to stick by. They also put a dent on my car that I know for a fact wasnt there when I gave it to them. I took pictures of it.

Recently I purchased a 2015 Mazda MX-5, color zeal red. Damn what a beautiful car!!! I saw the car for the first time about a month ago, and test drove it. On the test drive the car accelerated on its own as I rounded the corner to enter the freeway. The salesperson sitting in the passenger seat said, Whats happening? Heck if I knew. As I depressed the break pedal the car accelerated. This happened a couple to a few times within about ten seconds as I would let up on the break and then apply the break again. Finally the car was back in control. The salesperson wanted to take over the driving so I let him. No problems the short distance back to the dealership. The salesperson said the car acted weird because I was most likely me getting confused in which pedal to use test driving the car. I purchased the car. I know what youre thinking. That I was pretty stupid for buying the car based on the test drive experience. Okay, I agree. The car has about 170 miles on it and this rapid acceleration on its own has happened a total of six times. I scheduled to take the car into University Mazda (This is where I purchased the car) on Nov. 25, 2014 to see if they could figure out why the car was accelerating on its own. On my way to the dealership the car dramatically accelerated on its own as I was breaking to avoid hitting the car in front of me. In order to slow the car down I shifted into neutral. The dealership had the car for one day and their guess as why the car is accelerating on its own is because I have the drivers seat too close to the steering wheel, and that Im getting confused in what Im doing with my right foot as Im driving. Hows that for high tech diagnoses? Forget the fact that I own a truck and Prius, and have had about eighteen cars in my life time. Ive never had this same problem with rapid acceleration with any of my other cars or truck. Look, I may have been stupid to buy the car in the first place, but Im sure not going to be even more stupid to buy some cheap dime store reasoning by the dealership for why the car is accelerating on its own.

The Mazda CX9 (2008) has 51,000 miles only. An oil leak was noticed the summer of 2011. After several days, the dealer diagnosed it as a rear main seal failure. The dealer replaced the seal (having the car for close to two weeks). The car continued to leak oil this fall (2011). The dealer contacted Mazda’s headquarters and they recommended replacing the transmission, which the dealer did. The vehicle continued to leak oil during the winter/spring of 2012. The dealer claims it is the rear main seal (dealer currently have had the vehicle for 1 week). Wouldnt the main seal have been replaced with the new transmission? Other issues include two sets of breaks, tie rod, electrical overhaul, and vacuum hose problem.
