I own a Mazda CX7. I received the Mazda notice concerning the timing chain quite a few months back. I actually went to have the car checked due to the notice, and I found that there was a problem with mine. This is no lie, what I am about to tell you. On the way back from the shop, my timing chain broke! This caused an enormous amount of damage, and thereby I have incurred a huge bill to have this fixed. I contacted Mazda Corp and explained that I had no way to indicate that I have had all the oil changes done due to the fact that my husband changes our oil on all our cars. They said to me that I have no recourse and there are no loopholes for my situation. They will not honor the situation.I am extremely disappointed in the service and the behavior of Mazda Corp. I have recently learned that others have experienced this same problem. Even though Mazda knew that there was a problem and thereby sent the notice in the first place, they are still unwilling to fix the problem or take care of the monetary damages. I am asking everyone who reads this and has had a problem with Mazda concerning this situation to contact me because I am going to file a Civil Suit against Mazda, but we must join forces in order to do this. Thank you.
My Mazda 5 with a 2.3 L engine just blew up - it needs a whole new engine. The car only had 117,000 km on it, and the extended warranty just ran out 4 months ago. Whitby Mazda is trying to tell me that its my fault because I cant find all the paperwork for oil changes. The staff at Whitby Mazda are rude and unhelpful, and I no longer have a car. As a single mother with 2 children, this is causing me a lot of grief. Do not buy a Mazda, I will never buy one again.
Hi - My 2010 CX7 with full Mazda service history and only 57600 miles on the clock, stopped at 60 MPH on a busy dual carriage way with my kids in the car, I could barely steer or brake it was terrifying! Luckily we managed to come to a stop only because it was a quiet time of day on school holidays or god knows what could have happened. I called Mazda to advise them as I thought they would want to know about the issue, total stone wall.I had the car towed to a garage nearby who told me the engine had seized due to it being starved of oil, the car was FULL of oil. They checked and it was a block in the sump. After doing research I realise this is a very common problem with Mazda and I cannot believe they are totally ignoring this issue, not help offered. My car was worth #7.5k now its worth nothing! Where is Mazdas duty of car to customer driving this car, why are they not making sure dealerships are checking this issue to protect people at service, what will it take, someone to be killed! I am just disgusted at their refusal to acknowledge this issue.
The clutch on my Mazda 6 (bought new) wore out after approximately 10,000 miles. Replaced by Mazda Main Agents, this also failed after approx. 10,000 miles. Again replaced by Mazda Main Agent, and lasted only around 10,000 miles. Regularly serviced by the same Mazda Main Agents (except just once).I am 81 years old, have held a driving license for well over 60 years. For many years did all my own servicing, maintenance and repairs. You name it and I have almost certainly had it in pieces. The exceptions being gearboxes and differentials. (Never had one of these fail). I claimed reimbursement for these repairs, but was told it was due to my riding the clutch. Rubbish! when I learned to drive back in the 1950s riding the clutch was a sin because, in those days cars were fitted with carbon (graphite) clutch thrust bearings which being soft would wear out very quickly if one rode the clutch, modern cars are fitted with tapered roller bearings or simple ball races. I never wore one out but the ingrained lesson never to ride the clutch has stayed with me ever since.A letter later from them suggested that I was accelerating away from traffic lights etc. too hard, insinuating that perhaps I was a bony racer. In my 20s, 30s and 40s this MIGHT have been the case, but in my 70s and now 80s I am long passed such behavior. I have done everything required of me prior to taking them to the small claims court, including utilizing the facilities of Mediators but they still keep coming up with silly replies. The latest being that I have the clutch examined by an authorized independent company. They also said that this would be impossible because the parts were thrown away on being removed. I am about to write to them yet again informing them that I have, together with other items, both the clutch and the scored flywheel that was replaced in my garage.Advice to everyone considering purchasing a new car, DO NOT BUY A MAZDA without checking the record of service one can expect from your Mazda main Agent. If anything fails, it would seem that they will do anything to avoid recompensing one for anything failing. My claim will be made under the Customer Rights and Protection Act, under the section stating that any purchase should be fit for purpose and last a reasonable length of time. All the time that this correspondence has been going on, (several months) the worry and stress has had very severe adverse effect on my health. They have been informed of this but apparently consider it not worth their while to make any comment on it. Hopefully, if you wish, I will come back to you and let you know the result.
I purchased my vehicle 2 years ago and just recently got to 20,00 miles and had to have the rear disc brake pads replaced because they barely passed inspection. I called the customer service number and they said they would gladly replace them free of charge if I went back to the dealer immediately that day to get it done. I then learned that this is a flaw that some of the CX-5s have including the current models. I leased my vehicle so I will be returning it before the 40,000 miles when it will probably need them again. It is expensive to replace them every 20,000 miles when they should last at LEAST 40,000 miles. If I owned this vehicle who would have to keep replacing them when they wear sooner than they should, ME!!! That is an expense I can not afford.I also have an issue that when you open the back hatch there is not enough light to see what you are doing. I like the way the car handles in the snow, which is why I leased it to begin with, to see how well it did. I like the car and would love to buy another when my lease is up but I dont know if I will because of the expense of replacing the discs every 20,000 miles.
I purchased a 2017 Mazda 6 Sport at Fremont Mazda. So far I absolutely love my car. My salesman was great in having everything ready when I came in to sign I because I had to get back to work by a certain time. My problem is with Mazdas finance department. A little background. The last time I purchased a new car from a dealership was 30 years ago. It was very simple. I was offered upgrades. I declined. No problem. This time around when I got home I Sat and looked over my contract and saw optional service contracts below was Mazda Maintenance $2,150.00. I recall the finance person mentioning oh and you have 5 years free maintenance at any Mazda Service Center in California. My thought is oh that must be the manufactures warranty.I contacted my salesman and Im told its for a optional service contract. I was never offered this optional item, no one said to me we can add this free maintenance service to your purchase for an extra $2,150.00. I was furious. My salesman contacted me. Said if I didnt want it they would remove it and write up a new contract. I went back to the dealership. Signed a new contract. My car payment is now $50.00 a month cheaper. That should have been the end of it but lo & behold I find another optional on my contract in the amount of $795.00 for Debt Cancellation Option Agreement which I googled and is GAP insurance which again I was not asked if I wanted this insurance added to my contract.Oh on the first issue I filed a complaint with the State Attorney Generals Office Consumer Complaints. Today Im waiting for The State Insurances Commissioners Office to call me back and advise me what I should. My real concern with all this is how many other people have been victims of the same and dont know where to ask for help or arent even aware optional items have been added to their contract without their consent!
I have owned a Mazda since 1983. With different models, I call their products “chick vehicles”. All you ever had to do was change the oil. I own a 2007 Mazda Tribute. The driver door wasnt put on correctly. The headlight seals have all leaked. One was replaced under warranty and one not. After the warranty was up, I was told I have an oil leak. Its the major seal and will be about $1200.00 to pull the engine and transmission to replace it. When I made a comment at Lee Johnson Kirkland dealership where I bought the car, I was told all new cars are made cheap. The best is yet to come. I almost lost my hand. The hood came down on it and actually latched. I was trapped for about an hour until I finally broke off the wiper arm and pried my hand out. Its badly smashed and I have numbness in my hand but Im thankful to have my fingers. My car also has the recall for the sticking throttle. I got the recall letter in August. Its now the middle of November and Im told theres only parts for 04 models and older. They have made modifications to unlatch and open a trunk from the inside and outside but beware, if that hood latches close, there’s no way out except the release located in the driver’s side. Seriously, 26,000. I don’t think I will purchase another product from them ever again.
Purchased a new Mazda speed 6. At approximately 44K miles, the engine blew (for lack of mechanical terms) at a repair cost of $8,600 not under warranty by 60 days but still under mileage (oh well). Was then told that new engine, turbo, etc. Would now be covered to an additional 100K miles. Now one year later, the car has a check engine light on. Took it to Mazda. They said it maybe a valve and would be $1200 to repair that. Somehow apparently not covered by the new warranty. On top of that, I had to pay $130 for the diagnostic that only gave a maybe result (apparently again not covered). Please contact me if there is going to be a class action suit against Mazda as it seems this happens a lot.
We bought new a 2011 Mazda and everything with it is great except for the air condition always being clogged. So far to date, it seems that its been clogged 5 times and each time, its costing me money to get it unclogged. They told me that there is NO RECALL for it nor a repair except of the CONSTANT UNCLOGGING of the AC. I love my Mazda but I know this is a deal breaker for me to constantly get it repaired for the same problem over and over again. I just dont understand to why Mazda have designed this so poorly! We had a Toyota Corolla, a Mazda Accord and a Pontiac and we have never had any problem with their AC being clogged. This is so frustrating!
I bought my 2008 Mazda CX-9 in 2010 with about 23,000 miles from a local dealer. I loved the vehicle until the past few months. My car is now 5 years old with 78,000. I have had regular oil changes and have done all scheduled maintenance since Ive owned it. I had issues with the tie rods (scary story as well) that needed replacing. I expect brakes, tires, batteries, etc. will need replacing. I even expect that at some point the water pump will require replacing. What I did not know, is that the water pump, which of course failed a month before Christmas, is in the middle of the engine. In order to replace this $159 part, the entire engine had to be removed. I was without my car for 4 days and the total bill was over $1700. $159 in parts and $1500 in labor ($105 per hour). I am of course out of warranty but the dealer said to call the customer service number, they will likely help. NOPE, not a dime. What I have discovered about Mazda is that MAZDA DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS. I will NEVER buy another Mazda and I will be telling the world for the rest of my life. Mazda just doesnt care about their customers so think of that before you make such an expensive purchase.
Public Service Announcement: Dont buy a Mazda AND do not use Passport Mazda in Suitland, MD. My daughters Mazda 6 had a sunroof that literally exploded on Jan 11, 2017 while she was driving. She said it sounded like a gunshot and she almost wrecked. It exploded upward and out of the vehicle although she had A LOT of glass that rained back in on her and the inside of her car. The vehicle was only 8 months old. Mazda replaced the sunroof out of goodwill (as they put it) and informed us that it was probably due to a shard of metal in the track left over from manufacturing... pressure built up on the glass and it exploded. Her vehicle is not the first vehicle to do this - Google it! They are refusing to repair the leather seats that the glass got embedded in and ripped and are refusing to fix the paint where the glass flew out and took a chunk of paint off the roof and the trunk of the vehicle. We have been trying to work through this with them since January. I have been on the phone with Corporate Mazda who in turn have been trying to get Passport Mazda on the phone for 2 weeks to get their side of the story. They have not made a connection with Corporate in over two weeks. Isnt that like ignoring your boss? Besides the fact that Mazda will not stand behind their product and quality. One of my daughters first adult purchases has not turned out to be a disheartening experience. They have not heard the last from us as we stand up for what is right! Do not purchase a Mazda as their customer service is LESS THAN SATISFACTORY and we purchased not ONE but TWO MAZDAS ON THE SAME DAY! Its all about how you respond to what goes wrong, Mazda!
My 2001 Mazda Tribute LX just reached 100,000 miles. It is still going strong. Had to change the tires, brakes and the battery, but otherwise okay. Only get 13 miles to the gallon on regular. It is a dependable old car.
Well the short version is this; several years ago, I ended up suing Mazda because of the defective CD40 engine in the 626. I won, they refuted (with a new judge), and the win was turned in their favor. I still owed on the car with Fairlane credit. Both Mazda and Fairlane are owed by Ford. I spent close to $4000 repairing two transmissions on that car and now Im being sued to pay the balance of a loan I owe on a car that was a lemon when I got it. I dont mind paying my debt, but I dont have the car because it didnt work. There should be a comprise somewhere on this. Not trying to shaft on my loan, but the damages and near-death accident I had in the car as a result of the mechanical defect should be applied to my balance.
I was in a car accident driving at 35 to 40 miles and I was in an accident. I hit the other car by the front of my car and the airbags didnt open from either side and I think thats not correct.
Bought a gorgeous lookin 2016 Mazda Miata, supposedly having undergone 150+ point inspection. After continuing to add air to the tires day after day and having a valve stem replaced, being informed the tires suffered from dry rot, not safe for extended use- replaced the tires ($800 setback). Texts and calls went ignored.
I have a Mazda 6 year model 2007. Car has 101,000 miles. This is the second time to replace transmission. I would not purchase any Mazda vehicles!
This is my 3rd Mazda and all have been completely reliable and cost effective without being “stodgy” looking. The 2019 CX-5 is fun to drive while still being economical, supremely comfortable and safe! It’s loaded with so much amazing technology that Mazda employs a tech person to explain it all!
Two rear speakers in the car are hardly working. You can only hear sound when you open the trunk of the car. Those speakers are called tweedlers. Ive been to Mazda several times and they have given me various excuses to why they produce little sound. I decided to take the car to an independent audio dealer and they notice via a metered reading that those two rear speakers were not getting enough power therefore they would not change the speakers. I told a picture of the meter reading. When I returned to Mazda, after an hour I was told that, Thats how the system was set up. So I contacted Bose and they said, That is how Mazda set up their speakers. Could someone please help me solve this problem? Many, many thanks.
My experience with Mazda overall meaning corporate and the dealership has been horrendous. I think we should all get together and file a class action lawsuit. Mazda is making cars with defects. The dealer did a spot delivery spot scam on me. My car has been having all sorts of issue with the brakes not working properly and just recently the transmission. I have had it. Corporate does nothing. The VP Shawn Murphy is interested in money. Do not buy a Mazda unless you have it checked out first.
Deceiving with its looks! Dont be tricked by poor quality product and expensive after service fixing. Feel bad for the body designer, talent wasted on rotten interiors. 2014 Mazda 6, replace batteries every 8-10months. Inside plastics falling off. Exterior plastic bumper covers falls off 3 times, forced to glue on. BT audio problems, and now... Transmission failure! With every single service encounter, service folk says its normal to have battery replaced every year and a half and then changes story to a Year and now. Under a year... Poor customer attitude. Service folk highly unprofessional. Biggest regret to trust this brand. Stick with Toyota or Honda. Want nice looks, wait and save for better.
After buying a 2015 Mazda CX-5 pre-owned vehicle I had a drivetrain issue at 60K miles that cost $2800 to repair in October of 2021. Even though the preowned warranty was for 7 years and 100K miles they wouldnt cover the repair costs due to some technicality they cited with the warranty agreement. The original dealership changed ownership twice in the three years, so I brought the car to another dealership for repairs and dealt with Mazda corporate for reimbursement. The dealership that did the repairs agreed it was faulty drivetrain parts, but told me Mazda corporate said it was out of warranty.After repeated attempts to contact the customer experience center both by phone and email, over several months, I could never get past their first line of customer service to make my case to anyone with any authority to review my case. On several occasions they indicated they would get back to me, but never did. I would recommend against buying a new or preowned Mazda. They do not stand behind their product as evidenced by the initial faulty drivetrain and lack of customer support.- Steve
I own 2009 Mazda 5. It has 145,000 miles on it and still runs great! I bought it in 2010 and it was the best car purchase. No problems at all. Only changing oils, tires, and breaks. We needed second car and we decided to get another Mazda, this time CX5. I think I would never buy another brand. I would absolutely recommend to a family and friends.
My Mother bought a brand new Mazda 626, this was a long time ago. SO long ago, that CNN news was just getting started. My mother was killed in this car while driving home from work, she hit a telephone pole at 45 mph. She was removed from the car and taken to the hospital where she died shortly thereafter. We were stymied as to what happened. No one knew, then we found out, way down the road, through CNN news that the car had a history of the ignition turning itself off if you had a heavy key ring. Of course there were accidents all over the US many fatal, some just injuries, etc. I found this out about this car, about a year or more after the accident. Recently I did a search on this Mazda 626, and I couldnt find a thing about it. Was all information removed about these cars, what happened, has Mazda fixed this problem? I hope so, as a year ago I bought a Mazda 5 which so far, has been a great little car. It took me 28 years to be able to buy a Mazda. BTW, Hasnt GM just spent a lot of time apologizing to its customers for the same problem? Wonder how many people died in the GM cars? Mazda didnt even apologize.
I drive a 2009 Mazda CX9. On Friday Sept 18th I had picked my kids and friends up from school. Normally I wouldnt stop and grab a coffee but I did. When we came out and were getting back in the car I heard a bang, I looked and my front left tire was just about falling off. Thank God we stopped because I would have been driving with 4 kids in the car. I had to have the car towed, and have my brothers friend that is a mechanic look at it. One week later on Friday, Sept 25th I got a safety recall letter in the mail saying lower control arm ball joint can corrode, well that is what happened to mine. I Had it towed to a Mazda dealership. The Service Manager called to tell me I need new front tires. I said that should be part of the recall because everything I have read about symptoms of ball joints going bad is front tires balding. Well I have called Mazda three times and spoke to different people and nobody will help me. My back tires are just fine. I bought Mazda because I thought it was a safe family vehicle, I will be selling and getting something different.
I recently bought a Mazda CX-5 (2 months ago). At the time of purchase I had only a couple of criteria but they were very important to me since I put A LOT of mileage on my cars. (My last car was a 2007 and it had 380,000 km on it when I finally decided to buy a new car.) My criteria: The car needed to have XM/Sirius availability, a bluetooth that enabled true hands free use of my cell phone calls and an easy to use, straightforward navigation system. I was told the CX 5 I was purchasing had all three… WHAT A LIE!!!I paid an extra $1300 for the tech package to be installed into the car that would supposedly allow all three of above criteria. Immediately it was evident that something was wrong with the navigation (or so I thought). It took no less than 7 step to input any address into it. It was impossible to use on the fly and required not only pulling over to input info BUT it demanded 6 more levels of information before it would give me directions! Im serious. After returning to Budds dealership to attempt to gain further insight on how to correct this issue it became evident that NONE of the salespeople knew how to operate it! NONE! Not even the sales manager. We had to contact the Navigation system manufacturers in the state to find out what the problem was. Turns out, there was no problem. That was the crappy-ass cheap nav system that Mazda had ordered for their 2016 CX line of cars!!! Oh - by the way, the voice recognition is non-existent. Now I am back to driving around having to rely on my iPhone Google Maps to direct me on my travels. Nice to know Mazda has our backs (tongue firmly planted in check) helping its customers abide by the hands free driving rules now strictly in place in Canada and the US. There is no excuse for this type of 20th century technology in todays 21st century, seriously?? The XM was a joke, it does not actually show up on the in-dash display. It is provided exclusively by a tiny little remote that has push buttons. No scrolling capability, no visual feedback about what station you are on or listening to, unbelievable. By the way, I had the tech package removed and requested my $1300 back. My Bluetooth is another matter, cuts in and out on a regular basis. I have to reconnect my phone and the cars bluetooth at least 4 times a month. Again, as with the nav system, the voice recognition is non-existent.I HATE THIS CAR. $40,000 and 7 yrs of car payments for the privilege of driving a car with no nav system, XM/Sirius or bluetooth capability. So basically I am back driving around having to use my iPhone for cell calls and google maps. One more thing, the gas mileage sucks, the tank is the size of a football. I am filling up every second or third day AND it sounds like a diesel engine when you first start it up. I thought something was wrong with the muffler when I first started driving it. Turns out the loud engine and exhaust noise is the result of the skyactiv technology they use, another huge marketing BS story they try to sell you about why Mazda is so advanced. Did I mention HOW MUCH I HATE THIS CAR??
I leased a SUV Mazda cx5. Had 13000 miles and the motor went Bad (lemon car). The NJ MAZDA DEALER TOW the car and called me after few weeks and told me MAZDA USA the low of the car business will not take responsibility and fix the car. The car is in the dealer lot RAMSEY MAZDA NJ since Sep 2017. I been paying $359 a month and insurance for 14 month and I have no car. I just filed a lawsuit against Mazda USA and Ramsey Mazda and stopped paying for the car, and they have the nerves to ruin my credit too. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR. DONT DEAL WITH THIS GUYS. THEY DONT DESERVE YOUR BUSINESS.
CX5 with 105,000 miles. Started car, backed out of garage, proceeded to drive away and a loud noise just before the car died. Ended up pushing the car back to the house and into the garage. Spent a few hours looking over everything and could not find the source of the problem. Checked the oil and it was fine. Checked fuses, all were good. Checked starter and alternator, all good. The next day I looked under the passenger side of the vehicle and notice two drops of oil on the garage floor. Checked oil again and it was up to level. Followed a small trail of oil pooling on the dust cover (under the engine) and saw two jagged holes in the engine block just above the oil filter. I wish I could post pictures of the holes and block pieces. The engine block wall is VERY thin and not what you would expect. Mazda really went cheap on manufacturing these SkyActiv blocks! The car belongs to my wife and is out of warranty range so with $13k left owed on it, were screwed. One more thing to add is Mazda had already replaced the defective automatic transmission at 80,000 miles.
I have a 5 day old 2018 Mazda CX-9 GT. It is a very good and fun-to-drive SUV. I recently have some issues playing my iPod iTunes playlists from connections to the USB1 and USB2 ports. It is an intermittent problem not recognizing and not able to play the songs from the playlist. It is very frustrating and disappointing considering that I paid top $ for this SUV and I am now faced with this media problem. I will report this to the Mazda dealership first thing in the morning tomorrow since it is barely a week old.
Sold my 1990 Mazda 626 with roughly 225,000 miles on it back in 2005. The car was great, replaced master cylinder for the clutch and alternator in the 50,000 miles I had the car. The RX8 had no issues, it is a car that needs its oil checked often due to the design of the engine, and you have to drive it hard to clear the carbon off the tips. I took it to 9k almost everyday for 2 years with no issues on the car whatsoever. People that complain about engine failures are mostly idiots that shouldnt be driving a rotary to begin with. Mazda was nice enough due to the large amount of idiots blowing engines that they extended the warranty for all owners to 10 yrs 100k miles on the powertrain.The speed 3 I had for a few years as well, no problems besides a rear side window that had a slight imperfection upon delivery which was replaced by Mazda. Now I have a Mazda 6 2014. I have about 25k miles on it averaging about 30mpg. No issues whatsoever. I have seen the advertised 40mpg or above when going 60mph or less, but that never happens with me. In short Mazda is an amazing company with awesome products at an affordable price. People with cars that are almost 10 yrs old or older should not be able to leave comments about parts breaking, THE CARS 10 yrs OLD!! Step it up and get something newer or stop complaining.
After 17.000 miles on my 2016 Mazda CX3 the driver’s side headlight housing failed and was filling up with moisture. MAZDA replaced it free of charge. The dealer tells me that Mazda is having trouble with these housings and that they have not put out a recall, Ok? At 40.000 miles it failed on the other side. MAZDA will not replace it. They say because I am 4.000 miles over the warranty. A 2 year old car and both headlights have failed. They want over $400+ labor. My first Mazda and my last if they can’t stand behind a 2 year old car and replace it. I would be willing to even pay for the labor at the dealer. Maybe someone here can get them to step up to the plate. Thank you.
I have been having problems with the throttle (Mazda Tribute V4) which has been sticking. For over a year now, I have been looking to see if there were any recalls against them. Finally when I looked today, it was only for the V6 engine. When I called them today through corporate and service department, I asked them why not on the V4, and they couldnt give me a correct answer. If its within the year, it should be for all Mazda vehicles. I have been in so many almost accidents with this vehicle and Mazda wants to charge almost $300 for a diagnostic and cleaning the carbon out. That is ridiculous. I am a single parent trying to make ends meet in this poor economy. This is the worst vehicle I have ever bought.
I bought my CX7 new in September 2007. I love the vehicle except for its very poor reliability. It has cost me in excess of $2000 a year to maintain this vehicle. Most parts that fail are notorious for failing but Mazda either wont cover the cost or their extended warranty is so meager it doesnt apply to my vehicle because of the mileage e.g. AC compressor; Oxy Sensor. I just discovered that my engine bay high pressure fuel pump is not working properly. I replaced the one in fuel tank 8 months ago and if it fails, it can wreck the engine. Mazda wants $1400 for the part! A better quality aftermarket part is available for less than half this price. Also, the Oxygen sensor on the Cat Converter has to be replaced at huge cost. I replaced the other one eight months ago. Together my current repair bill will be about $2000 including labor. You can find lots of stories just like mine on the internet (e.g. Edmunds).
Got the Mazda Tribute secondhand really cheap... runs really well... have not had any issues except flat tire and the key not wanting to come out of the ignition. Also, the gear shift sticks but I attribute that to the previous owner letting her kids accidentally spill a soda on it. It has grey color... spacious design... has cruise control that works great. I love any kind of SUV/Crossover... they have so much more room than even a large car... great for trips... modern and sleek design. But I wish it had better quality interior material and design. The car is secondhand and she had kids but they would not have been able to do the damage quite so easily otherwise.
It has been good so far. It is good on gas and seems to be mostly reliable. Has a pretty big trunk for a little car. Runs pretty good. It is great for me and my daughter but has a good size back seat if we want to take others with us. It has some updated technology so that is nice, I can connect my phone and it is really easy to drive. It was the car I was able to get approved for so that is what I bought. However, the headlights have to be turned on and off manually, my old car had running lights so I didnt have to worry about the lights all the time. It is pretty low to the ground so it is a big change from an SUV.
Transmission failed for the second time. First brand new car after mothers death using her Ford 1993 T-Bird. I researched the Honda Del Sol, which I liked before getting discouraged and after one year waiting for my order to arrive, I bought 1996 Mazda 626 in 1996 (being the first and only owner of this car I did not investigate like I did with the Del Sol). In 2002, had transmission fail, water pump, air conditioner, timing belt. Mazda, of course, did take responsibility. I see after reading the countless complaints on this site it is a company that does not stand behind their product.As of 8/2011, not only the transmission is gone but catalytic converter should be replaced (if I want to pass smog). Mazda said it was all my doing and wash the grease from their hands. I see after reading the countless complaints on this site it is a company that does not stand behind their product. I will never by a Mazda again. Sincerely, an extremely broke consumer.
2014 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring - Parts in the transmission failed after only 9 months and 16,000 miles. The car is at a Mazda Dealer for the third week. Mazda USA trying to get the parts to the dealer but way too much time has been taken.
Ive have my Mazda 2 for 9 months and Ive this problem every now and then but its been happening more lately. I start my car, put it in drive or reverse and I go to use my brakes and they lock up. I cant press down, so I have to pull my E-brake, turn my car off, take my key out then I put my key back in and start my car and its all fine. Luckily its only ever happened to me when there are no cars around but its getting more consistent 2 times in 1 week.
I purchased a 2008 CX9 certified pre-owned Mazda on 10/7/2011 and Maple Shade Mazda confirmed I had 80% left on the brakes. Six month later on March 27 2012, I had to take the car in because it was making a noise when I stopped. The dealer said I need new rotors and new brakes. I had driven the car 5000 miles since I bought the car. I felt the dealer made a false representation when they stated in writing I had 80% left on my brakes. Dealer refused to install the brakes at their expense which is what I believe they should have done. I dont believe I could have used 50 of the brakes in six months or 5,000 or 6,000 miles.
Mazda CX5 2015 is A PIECE of crap. I bought this car from Browning Mazda two months ago. It is about 6000 mileage. I always have long distances travel.Two days ago, this car suddenly cant be reversed in the freeway. It kept going straight. Later on it became normal again. I drove very slowly to Browning Mazda to have examination on my car. They checked it. They told me everything is fine. They couldnt find any code related to my problem. I trusted them. I took my car back. But during my last trip, same problem happened again in the freeway. I almost lost my life. So, called Mazda to toll my car back to them. They only paid for 18 miles. I paid 208 dollars to tolling company. It has been three days. They still kept my car. They said they need to have engineer to come to check my car. I dont have a car to use for three days already. They dont offer any solution. Pieces of **. Please dont risk your life to buy Mazda car. There are a lot of bad reviews for this brand.
I bought Mazda 6 at GRIECO MAZDA OF NORTH PALM BEACH. The car was equipped with all the features which I liked. But the staff were very bad and doing all dirty tricks to misguide me. At the time of purchase they said the service would be free for the first year and also said they would add the tint on the vehicle. But when I went there for first service, they asked to pay for service and tint. Staff there are very ridiculous... were not even responding properly when I went there to ask!!
Mazda 5 is sharp looking car with lots of great features for an affordable price. Great experience driving for everyday and long road trips. Very roomy with the third row seating option. We have had very positive experiences in owning 3 other Mazdas. Great driveability in town, freeway or long distance. Gets good gas mileage. Has Bluetooth feature for answering and making phone calls hands free. However, it does not have power seats or lighted mirrors on the visors. Sometimes the catalytic converter has an odor of sulfur that service technicians do not seem able to smell or find the cause of when we have it serviced.
Since I bought this car in July of 2012 with 54000 miles, its been an amazingly reliable car. It handles really good, good acceleration and very quick. I average about 40.5 mpg with a good amount of city driving. Its a very easy and fun to drive car. I still have the original tires on it with 79000 miles and still has a little bit of tread left. Im pretty surprised with the tires life, especially being a 45000 miles rated tire. Ive never had an issue or problem with it and I look forward to all the moments Ill have with this car.
I took my 2006 Mazda Tribute into the dealership for an oil change, after three days, the car had broken down. I found out that there were no fluids in the car, so the engine was cracked. I left it at the dealership for resolution. After 8 weeks of no response, we had the car towed back to the house. We called the Mazda Corporate Office but to no avail. Im disgusted with it all. I also purchased a Mazda 2005 RX8 the same day as this one, spent over $30,000 for that car, had to have 3 new engines within a year (what a joke).
Recently I purchased a 2015 Mazda MX-5, color zeal red. Damn what a beautiful car!!! I saw the car for the first time about a month ago, and test drove it. On the test drive the car accelerated on its own as I rounded the corner to enter the freeway. The salesperson sitting in the passenger seat said, Whats happening? Heck if I knew. As I depressed the break pedal the car accelerated. This happened a couple to a few times within about ten seconds as I would let up on the break and then apply the break again. Finally the car was back in control. The salesperson wanted to take over the driving so I let him. No problems the short distance back to the dealership. The salesperson said the car acted weird because I was most likely me getting confused in which pedal to use test driving the car. I purchased the car. I know what youre thinking. That I was pretty stupid for buying the car based on the test drive experience. Okay, I agree. The car has about 170 miles on it and this rapid acceleration on its own has happened a total of six times. I scheduled to take the car into University Mazda (This is where I purchased the car) on Nov. 25, 2014 to see if they could figure out why the car was accelerating on its own. On my way to the dealership the car dramatically accelerated on its own as I was breaking to avoid hitting the car in front of me. In order to slow the car down I shifted into neutral. The dealership had the car for one day and their guess as why the car is accelerating on its own is because I have the drivers seat too close to the steering wheel, and that Im getting confused in what Im doing with my right foot as Im driving. Hows that for high tech diagnoses? Forget the fact that I own a truck and Prius, and have had about eighteen cars in my life time. Ive never had this same problem with rapid acceleration with any of my other cars or truck. Look, I may have been stupid to buy the car in the first place, but Im sure not going to be even more stupid to buy some cheap dime store reasoning by the dealership for why the car is accelerating on its own.
Purchased a CX9 new in 2007. Drove it with a few problems like the Prox key losing its program forcing us to buy a new one at the cost of $300 plus $100 programing. But thats the short of it... At 59000 miles I walk into the dealer and have them doing some recall work on the car. I tell them its transmission is kind of slipping. Service guy says dont worry and recommends a trans service... I say ok... Come back a month later ask for trans service and he says, Its over drivetrain warranty now. Maybe the service will help. Sounds like the trans is shot. The part alone is $9000 and removal is another $3000. Has no record of my issue at prior visit. Says there is no warranty. Said you dont service your car here so we wont help you. I ended up spending another $3k out of pocket having a trans shop rebuild the trans. If youre thinking about it... RUN FROM MAZDA!
We own a 2007 Mazda 6 and today, we again had to have the bulbs replaced one high beam and one low beam. Since we have owned this car, we have replaced the bulbs at least six times. We have discussed this with the Mazda dealer and he says that no one else has complained about the lights. We are not happy with the lights. Today, it cost us $128.81 to replace the bulbs. This is ridiculous. We have had other Mazda products and have been very happy. Please deal with this issue. Thank you.
They did eventually cover the turbo under warranty, I had to pay $300 for an oxygen sensor and I still wont do the wheel bearing, but at least they covered the expensive part. I called head office, they called the dealer, back and forth and it was eventually covered.The main root cause is that when I purchased the vehicle and asked to extend the warranty, I thought I was extending the original warranty which is covered under Mazdas Added Protection plan for new vehicles. What the salesman actually gave me is a two year powertrain warranty. Im not sure if this was miscommunication or an error on their part, difficult to prove at this point.
I have not had a single issue with my car in six years, it has been the absolute best purchase I have ever made. The car has also retained much of its resale value. My vehicle is totally manual, transmission and windows; the vehicle also gets great gas mileage. I chose this car because it was rated very high for reliability and overall value at the time I bought the vehicle. However, I dislike the clips that secure parts to my vehicle, and they break very easily. The oil pan fell off a few months after purchase and some of the interior clip ons broke as well.
I purchased my 2013 Mazda 2 from Daytona Mazda Mitsubishi back in November of 2015. I registered the vehicle with Mazda USA online since I live in Tennessee and the car was delivered to me by the dealership. I have been having significant issues with the steering and saw that there was a recall sent out by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration back in 2016. I have sent the dealership and Mazda several emails over two years. They have chosen to ignore.
This is the first Mazda Ive purchased and owned. The purchase of the vehicle was fine and I like the car. However... I asked to have a remote start installed (I live over an hour and a half from the dealership as this is the closest Mazda dealership to my home). I took a full day off work to drive to the dealership and wait four hours for the remote start to be installed. They installed an Mobile Remote Start (MMS) and NOT a remote start as I asked. The Mobile remote start doesnt work where I live and work in WV due to the lack of cell service in many areas. So I asked them to remove it. I had to take off another full day off work to have them remove the incorrect product that they installed the regular Mazda remote start.Its been a couple of months and the Mazda product (remote start) has been nothing but problems! It works one day and then doesnt work the next day. When it does work, it wont start until Im like right up on top of my car and then when you open the door, the car shuts off. I changed the batteries and that didnt do anything. It worked the first day and not the second or third day. I contacted my salesman who said I could bring it back down and they would take a look at it and repair it if there was an issue. He said they would replace it if it was faulty. I went out and looked up the reviews and the reviews all indicate that similar problems have existed (with reviews dating) back to 2012. Apparently Mazda has done nothing to address or fix the issues with the faulty device.I requested a refund (I paid about $500.00 for the product and the installation). Mazda refused to give me a refund. They care absolutely nothing about the bottom line of their customers. This will be the LAST MAZDA I ever buy! Not because the car is bad, I like the car, but because the service after the sale of a 30K+ product is obviously NOT one where the customer care. I will be encouraging all my friends on Facebook and work and everyone from here on out who ask me about my car (its a beautiful car... I get lots of questions about it), NEVER to buy one if they expect to have quality service after the sale! Terrible business practices Mazda! You should be ashamed of yourselves. P. S. I am a service disabled veteran... To all veterans out there... Beware!!!
I purchased this new car in 2015 and I have had problems with the transmission. When going from reverse to drive, the car lurches forward without even putting your foot on the gas. Because of it I hit a cement wall and did $6000 damage to the front end. After several trips to the dealer they finally told me that they were aware of the problem and ordered a new part. Well it is doing it again. I park in a parking ramp and I have to maneuver to get parked. Last week the car lurched forward again and did damage to the car again. Now back to the dealer and I am sure they will once again tell me I dont know how to drive. Parking attendants have had the same issue and hit a planter when the car lurched forward. I regret the day I ever purchased this vehicle. I just do NOT want to own it anymore because it is not safe.
Mazda CX-7 manufacturing failure - When it comes to their advanced designs, meticulous craftsmanship, and quality factory parts, all Mazdas are created equal. In March of 2011, my now wife and I were in the market for a new vehicle. With the thought of a family not too far off in the distance, we decided that it was time to sell her 2002 Ford F-150 that she had owned since college and look for a pre-owned crossover SUV. After doing some general searching, she found that she liked the Mazda CX-7s. We did some exhaustive searching online and found a reasonably priced CX-7 being sold by a private seller in San Antonio. We received a pre-approval for financing through my employer. So that weekend, they made contact, worked out a place to meet, and on March 18, 2011, we became the owners of a 2007 Mazda CX-7 Sport. And that is where the honeymoon ended.After six months, we began to have mechanical issues with the vehicle. A diesel-sounding chug coming from the engine seemed off for an unleaded four-cylinder SUV. The vehicle had less than 60,000 miles when we purchased it and by the time we began to notice the issues, the drive train warranty had expired. I began to do some in-depth research into this year/make/model and the results I unearthed were astounding. The 2007 CX-7 has been plagued with poor craftsmanship direct from the factory. The horror stories about this vehicle are anywhere and everywhere. I even saw one to where the consumer experienced full engine failure before 30,000 miles. The common issue seemed to be a part called a VVT actuator. No recalls or service advisories had been issued for engine parts at this time. However, in January 2012, an entire half-decade after the vehicle rolled off the assembly line, we received a Variable Valve Timing Noise and Timing Chain Noise Warranty Extension notice by mail from Mazda.A month or so after we received the notice, the vehicle began leaking oil. We took our vehicle into a Roger Beasley Mazda Center and had it examined. The oil cooler on the vehicle was beginning to fail. We explained the notice that we received in the mail and they were already well aware of these issues. We were told the engine had engine sludge and with it being a second-owner vehicle, we did not have the documentation to prove that regular oil changes had been performed. Instead, all repairs and replacements would come from our own pockets. The result ended up being a need to replace the VVT actuator, the timing chain, the oil cooler, and replacing all of the gaskets. The technician showed us a side-by-side of the current timing chain and the new replacement, the used chain had literally stretched to be about half an inch longer than the replacement. We drove off the lot and hoped that the problems had been solved.Within two months of the repairs, the engine began making a high-pitched whining noise. My wife contacted the dealership that day while at work and they said to bring it in. On the way to the dealership, which is less than 10 miles away, the vehicle died on the freeway. This ended up being the result of a blown turbocharger. Again, we had to take money from our nest egg to replace yet another part on this vehicle. Mazda Corporate has been overwhelming uncooperative with patrons regarding this matter and has repeatedly declined to take ownership of their poor engineering of this particular model and instead, continuously places the blame on the purchasers of their vehicles, claiming poor maintenance has resulted in the failure of its parts. We are now hoping we can sell the vehicle to avoid the fate of so many other CX-7 owners - that of owning a giant paperweight with a $300 per month payment. This experience will lead us to never purchase a Mazda ever again and to encourage those around us to do the same.
We purchased a new Mazda 6 and were being pushed in finance to purchase an alarm system for $350. My husband asked if the car already had an alarm system from manufacturer and we were told no. My husband thought it was odd so he asked again and the answer was still no! We then decided to purchase and later realized we have 2 alarms because it already has one. On top of this our dealer quit the next day and no one told us, so we continued to try to contact him and the rest of the staff seemed bothered when we had questions. Finally I call the manager (Mike **) about several issues and he would not return my calls. On his email responses he was rude and angry and refused to help us. I waited a week to fill out the survey to see how they would correct some of these issues and then finally I filled out the form truthfully. Mike then sends me a nasty, unprofessional email saying that because we gave him a poor score he no longer wanted to work with us! We were shocked. We are very unhappy with this dealership and wish we would have purchased this vehicle in Tustin or not purchased a Mazda at all (Even though I do like the car itself!)
I have a 2010 Mazda CX9 with approximately 23,000 miles on it. Last week, it was parked at the airport parking garage, and the power lift gate could not be closed, neither with the automatic button, nor manually, so I called the Mazda roadside assistance for help. Since the car was inside the parking garage, it was not possible to tow it. So, they connected me to some local dealership for some possible remote assistance, but the service center of the dealership was already closed. The only option I was left with, was to drive the car back home with the lift gate open (For sure, I didnt want to keep my car in the garage overnight with the lift gate open). Since the lift gate could not be closed due to malfunctioning, while coming out of the parking garage, it hit the concrete roof beam, and had severe damage.Mazda dealership found that the liftgate could not be closed due to malfunctioning of the motor. Since the car is within the warranty period, this will be fixed by them. But they denied to take the responsibility of the body damage, that was caused by this. Initially, they questioned why the roadside assistance was not called. When we gave them the details of my call to the roadside assistance, then they changed the statement to body damage is not covered under warranty. I understand that the body damage is normally not covered in warranty, but in this case, the damage occured because of the malfunctioning of the motor, which was under warranty. If the motor worked fine, then the body damage would not have occurred. So Mazda should take the responsibility of the damage that was caused by them. When asked what is the Mazda-recommended way to handle this situation, the zonal manager of Mazda told you could have left the car in the parking garage (with the liftgate completely open) and taken a rental car back home.
I have 07 Mazda 6 with 85,000 miles. I am told by my mechanic that these engines are horrible and he has seen 3 in the last month that have to be replaced. Curious how many Mazda has seen in a month? Right side control arms (front) need replacing. Price by Mazda is more than double to repair than quoted by my mechanic.At 85,000 miles, I need new tires. This will be my 3rd set. I am a soccer mom not a tire burning teenager. I will never buy another Mazda again. I’m not sure if the box is checked or not checked but I would be interested in hearing from an attorney if there is a class action suit against Mazda.
Just passed 24000km on the odometer and the brand new 2016 CX3 I bought a year ago has a complete transmission failure. I had to bring it into the dealership (Stoney Trail Mazda) in Calgary AB Canada for a period of 4 weeks. They had to replace the complete transmission which took 2 weeks and after the replacement there was still noises coming from the vehicle, they took another two weeks to find out what was wrong and was complete clueless. They told me they did further work by replacing the flywheel and a number of other parts.The dealership is making an effort and did fix everything without further cost to me and did provide a rental vehicle which I appreciate greatly. However, I completely lost confidence in Mazda as a company. Ive been a long time Mazda owner and the fact that the dealership is not stepping up to replace a clearly lemon/defective vehicle is really upsetting. This will be the last Mazda I will ever own. Stay away from the Mazda CX3!!!
I have a 2002 Mazda Protege. I purchased it used in 2008 and about a year ago, the finish on the hood, roof, and trunk started to peel off. I can see that it is starting to pit and rust. The car looks like a piece of junk. I see other Proteges, same year, and the paint is fine. I paid around $8,500 for the car and other than that, I love the car. I previously owned a Mazda and this never happened to it.I want to know if there is any compensation I can receive for this defect of the paint. I know this should not be happening to a car thats 10 years old. Help! In anticipation of a response, thank you for your time and attention.
I have a 2010 Mazda 5 with 23,200 miles which I owned for just under two years. I had a rear tire blow and brought the vehicle to the dealership. The tire was worn on the shoulder down to the steel belt but the rest of the tread was fine. The dealer contacted Mazda but because I could not prove that I rotated the tires (I do them myself and I check tire pressure bi-weekly) and because I did not have an alignment done at 12 months/12,000 miles I was not covered under warranty. This is completely unacceptable for a car that is less than two years old to have that kind of tire wear. I took the car in for an alignment to a third party and was told that both rear cambers are out of spec but they cannot be adjusted once they leave the factory. I believe I purchased a defective vehicle but Mazda will not replace it and it appears there is no fix to prevent it from happening again.The cost of the alignment and four tires was $582.
2013 M3 6-speed manual purchased at 27,500 miles in April 2015 with transmission problems since purchase. I only have to put gas in it twice a month, but the savings over the years will soon be eaten up by a necessary total transmission replacement including master and slave cylinders, entire clutch assembly, and probably the gearbox as well. Not surprisingly, after 2 years of complaints, Mazda techs were finally able to duplicate the shifting problem (stemming from a known issue and current class action suit) on a service visit just outside of warranty, and they blamed it on user error and normal wear and tear.All the reviews youre reading are true... Mazda does not stand behind their products after purchase. Skyactiv-Gs are ridiculously frugal on gas, though! 34+ mpg in mixed driving over 72,000 miles! My issue has been overall shifting crunchiness worst in temps below 50F and failure to shift into first gear multiple times per day since day 1 no matter the weather. Just buy a Honda or Toyota...the Mazda zoom-zoom feeling wears off the moment you drive away from the dealer and the depreciation is ridiculous, so youll be stuck with it until its paid off because no one wants to work on Skyactiv-Gs except Mazda despite being nearly a decade old technology.
I own a Mazda CX-5, that I bought without a warranty because of the great reviews about maintenance and service of the vehicle. Please do not make the same mistake! Mazda will not assist with any rare malfunctions that may happen to your vehicle! They will tell you the car is outside the warranty and anything is possible. They can not explain what caused your malfunction or why it’s possible other than its outside the warranty and anything is possible! The Mazda Corporate office will NOT accept responsibility for any malfunctions!
So for almost a year I’ve been receiving these pamphlets in the mail about a recall for my airbag. And it always said it would take an hour to complete. I take the day off work and drive half an hour to my nearest Mazda dealer for my appointment. Apparently there’s 3 recalls that need to be done and it’s a 3-4 hour wait!!!! They should give me a new car for all of this bs. There’s less than a zero percent chance of me ever buying another Mazda. I get to spend my whole entire morning sitting in a Mazda dealership. I’m fuming right now!!
We leased a 2009 Mazda CX-7 (garaged and highway driven only). There was never a problem. The battery died. We changed the battery. Car started and then died. After one month, it again had been flat bedded by Mazda. They did a check and told me they could not find anything wrong with the electrical system, but they found sludge in the engine compartment. They had a recall on a valve which I never received in the mail. The car only had 17,000 miles on it. After 3 years, Mazda came back and said they would cover under lease or extended warranty, which I had. They said it would cost $9,500 to replace an engine with a 17,000-mile leased car and they would not stand by their product. I want to start a lawsuit on the car as I have had many leases without these problems ever and leased over 10 cars in the last couple of years with no problem.
Mazda 2009 - I have had my 1st Mazda since 2010 July. Well, first time I bought a car that isnt a Toyota. I have had both head lights go out, shocks in rear done twice, tie rod end alignment done twice and tires twice. My engine would accelerate for days past 15 miles. My brakes got stuck; I couldnt get off the expressway and missed my stop. I’m still under extended warranty of which doesnt cover any of these things. I took it to 4 shops to be looked at, Goodyear, Midas and Mazda, all of which can’t find anything wrong with this ** car.
I leased a Mazda 3, hatchback in August 2016. At my 10k servicing at the dealership, they indicated unusual wearing of tires. I asked for them to be replaced. They said no, it was a limited warranty on the tire. At 15k servicing, the same conversation. At 20k, the same conversation. Found out these tires on a new car, have no mileage warranty... at all. The dealership will not replace the tires. At 32 months of the lease and 22,700 miles they will do nothing. I like the car, but not the tires, and Mazda will do nothing, as the dealership watches a customer complain, and knows it is a problem. Others have complained about the same thing. I would not purchase or lease another auto from Mazda, or Groove Mazda, in Centennial. Really poor support of a customer. Not what anyone wants.
We had a CX-9 signature bought straight out of the dealership and after 4 years the panel from passenger back door just came out on our sons hand. They blamed us for their lack of quality and I have the video to proof.
Mazda 2015 - Im wondering if anyone else is having the same issue with Mazda windshield breaking easily when hit by a rock. We only had our car for 9 months and we had our windshield replaced twice already! The first one happened twice in one week after 3 months purchasing the car. Now, it happened again after six months. The first replacement was an original Mazda windshield, now we are trying a different brand to see if it happens again. I had a Toyota Celica year 2001 for 12 years but never encounter this type of problem, so I dont think its my driving. I hope they do something about this, because according to the company that did my car the first time, they have also had plenty of repairs done for the same car. Hope this review helps!
We are a non-profit agency that owns a 2000 Mazda minivan to transport clients. A driver lost the key to the van, our only key. The van was running fine and we have found this to be a very reliable vehicle. Because the key must be programmed to the ignition, the van had to be towed to the dealer. Several keys were ordered, but we were told they were defective. Finally, a good key was reprogrammed, but the van wouldnt start. So, we were told we needed an immobilizer unit. More delay and now the bill had risen to $1,100. Once the immobilizer unit was installed, the van still wouldnt start and we were told we needed an instrument cluster. Another $1,400. That was a month ago. A defective part was sent from Mazda, followed by the wrong part. We still dont have our van and the dealer doesnt have the replacement part. It has been two months. I have called Mazda customer assistance twice. No help. The situation is completely unacceptable and yet we feel unable to do anything to rectify it. What if the dealer has incorrectly diagnosed the problem? We have no way to know until the instrument cluster finally arrives (we hope) and is installed. If this really is the fault of Mazda Corporate and their supply chain for parts, something needs to be fixed. Im wondering if others have had this kind of experience.
On January 20, I received a letter from Mazda Corporate due to certain issues with certain vehicles, including mine. From my understanding, the timing chain on certain models had turned out to be defective and this would extend the warranty for that specific part and problems caused by it to 70,000 miles. The letter advised that if the consumer experiences a ticking noise, they need to contact the closest Mazda Dealership. Never experiencing any problems, as mentioned above, I got curious and did some research which led me to find out that this problem had affected many so I decided to schedule an appointment for Friday, February 3, to which I never made it to.About a week after receiving the letter, my Mazdas engine failed at 67,000 miles. I was stuck under pouring, cold rain trying to push it off the road. After getting it towed to the North Penn Mazda Dealership, I was notified the following morning that my vehicle was diagnosed with engine failure. I researched it and came to the conclusion that the connecting rod between the crank shaft and the piston has broken causing it to go through the engine block and make a hole.The Mazda technician that inspected it told me that the failure most likely was not related to the timing chain but to make an accurate statement, they would need to open up the engine for which I would have to pay $800.00 to $1,000.00. I opened a case file with the corporate, which after contacting the dealership, told me that since the damage most likely is not related to the timing chain, Mazda was not liable regardless the fact that the source of the problem was not diagnosed.After getting many opinions from other technicians, I came to the conclusion that there is nothing that I, as a responsible consumer, could have done to prevent this from happening and that the engine was most likely poorly manufactured. I looked more in this matter and with simple sources of research I found out that there had been numerous similar cases throughout North America. With that in mind, I contacted the Service Manager at the Mazda Dealership seeking for help but I was shut down with two words out of warranty.The service manager told me that he understands my frustration and that when one purchases a $25,000 vehicle they expect to get more than 67,000 miles out of it, however, there was nothing he could do after contacting his corporate representative. After sending many emails I received a response from Mazda customer service explaining that if I did authorize the diagnosis and it resulted to show manufacturing defect, Mazda would cover the expenses to fix the damage. I called to confirm the email and after investigating the case, a gentleman from the customer service department left me a voice mail confirming the information.The following day I received another call from customer service stating that Mazda would not honor the statement made on the email and that no assistance will be offered. I requested to speak to a manager who got back to me two days later. Mr. G stated that Mazda will not offer any assistance of any form regardless the outcome of the diagnosis and the email sent did not imply what it stated.Meanwhile my technician had diagnosed the issue and had concluded that the damage was caused by bad assembly, poorly put together and that should be covered by the manufacturer. The conclusion, if I want to be able to drive this car again, I will need $6,000.00 plus taxes to replace the engine which I had no fault and no contribution in breaking.
2009 Mazda 6 low seating comfort - Nice car to drive but cant handle a long trip. The seats are very firm and give both me and my wife a sore ** on longer trips. I mentioned to our local dealer when serviced but they commented it was normal. My son has a BT50 and the seating is far more comfortable. I did mention the discomfort to one of the sales reps and he could not believe me. It will soon be out of warranty and just wondered if or how I could get a second opinion. If that is the way it is that’s fine, but I will more than likely sell this car for a more comfortable sedan and quite likely not bother looking at a Mazda purchase again in the future.
Had the passenger side window motor replaced about a year ago. Now replacing the driver side motor. I asked the service rep if this wouldnt be viewed as a Quality issue and his response was that he understood my frustration. Lol. Facts are not frustration, but this issue alone is enough to cause us to consider vehicles other than Mazda for our next purchase. When there are multiple failures of the same part, I believe reasonable people would consider it a quality issue.
While the 2014 cx-5 has some nice features such as blind spot monitor, (which is kind of necessary since rear visibility is not that great) it has some quirks that I dont like. If you live in the hills, the fancy moving headlights are horrible, visibility on low beams drops off so that if you are traveling up or down hill you have to put on your brights to see. We have the touring model which has a push button start but no button on the door so you have to pull out the fob to enter the car. A minor inconvenience but the most annoying thing I discovered the hard way is that if the fob drops out of your purse into the seat, and you lock the door, you will get locked out of your car. We had Push button start Nissans for 8 years and if you tried to lock the door with the fob inside it would alert you with a beep and open the doors. In the Mazda, you just get locked out. The final issue is the climate control knob. Shortly after purchase, the climate control knob would not stay on defrost and the air wasnt coming out of the vents it was supposed to. We contacted the dealership and they checked it and fixed it, but a month later it did the same thing. We contacted them again and they said that Mazda was aware of the problem and they had to special order a part by vin # to correct it. We had it fixed a second time and its been 3 weeks and the climate control wont click into defrost again! The dealership has been good about wanting to fix it, but so far they havent been able to figure it out. The dealership said our cx-5 was not the only one with this issue. Perhaps they have fixed some of these quirks with the 2015 /2016 models? I wont buy one again. Im going back to Nissan.
I have had my 2014 Mazda CX-5 for six months and it has less than 2100 miles. The fuel pump has already gone out. Now I have to wait for the part to be shipped from across the country before it can be repaired by the local dealership service department. Also, I have not gotten anywhere close to the fast mileage I expected. I am starting to wonder if I should have purchased another Ford. I drive a Ford Escape Hybrid for over six years with no mechanical problems and great gas mileage.
On July 25, 2015 my new 2016 CX-5 only two months old did not want to start. I checked the battery and it showed it had power but my car was as dead. I called my dealer at Lodi N.J. where I bought the car for advice and Rahsheed told me to call Mazda roadside assistance and I did. Spoke with a Mazda roadside assistant and told her what was going on with my car and she told me a flatbed tow truck will be at my location within a hour. One hour later comes the flatbed tow truck and I asked the driver if I could ride along and so I did. We get to Koeppel Mazda Queens NY. I tell the tow truck driver that I am going inside to let the manager know that we are dropping off my car. The manager Andrew ** steps outside with me and as the tow truck is backing up and bringing my new car down it scrapes and damaged my new Thule bike rack. Andrew the manager tells him to stop what he was doing and that the car needs to be lowered on the street. At this point the driver is getting frustrated and levels his flatbed truck in which he forgets to put the rear straps and chain hooks on the rear of my NEW CAR and also forgets to put my NEW Cx-5 off off of neutral and failed to put it in park and Failed to deploy the emergency parking brakes on my car. He then drives forwards, fast and slamming on his brakes causing my Brand New (Mazda CX-5 GT with Tech package) to shoot forwards and crashing into the back of his tow truck causing front end damage. Three Mazda certified workers seen the accident including the service department. Manager Andrew ** and I were all in shock on what just happened. Andrew and I took photos of the damaged SUV and Andrew told me that he would take care of the report. I advised Andrew that I don want my car back due to the loss of my resale value caused by Mazda. On 8/14/2015 I stopped by the repair shop that was fixing my car to get some things I left in the car. To my horror my car was in the back of the shop dirty with my whole SUV front end sitting on top of my cars roof, not to mention both my front windows was rolled down getting dust and dirt all over the place and not to mention there goes my new car smell and the body shop wasnt even certified Mazda repair shop. I know that when a new car rolls off the assembly line everything is calibrated, the transducer in the front of my Mazda emblem with the laser on my windshield work hand in hand so that my auto brake assist work properly. Now my new car will have a damage report on carfax that I did not cause, all Mazdas fault. Why did my new car did not want to start in the first place? It was only two months old with just 2000 miles on it. Mazda Roadside assistance contracted the tow truck company NYC Tire Auto Care Inc. The incident happened in front of multiple employees of Mazda (Manager: Andrew ** (Service department associate: Izzy ** and two others from Parts Department that will vouch what happened. I will now lose thousands of dollars on my trade in when I decide to trade inmy 2016 CX-5. I stated that I dont want my car back to every Mazda personnel I spoke with due to the fact that it was Mazdas fault. I just want a brand new CX-5 with everything I put in but sadly I am getting the runaround. Even my insurance company called in my behalf and they also getting the runaround.
I love my car. Living in Michigan, I needed a vehicle that handled well in snow but also with good gas mileage and being able to adjust the drivers seat is very important. After test driving several models, I was extremely impressed with Mazdas handling. I also love how the looks of the car. Its very stylish and its fun to drive. Definitely spend the extra money and get the navigation. I use it all the time. But I wish the rear seats were more comfortable. When test driving cars, I never thought to sit in the back. A word of advice, next time test driving, sit in the back and feel how your passengers are feeling.
Tribute recall notice - I received the 1st letter from Mazda last month. I took my Tribute to Premier Mazda of Georgetown (where I purchased it in 2008); they disconnected cable and told me to expect another letter from Mazda advising me they now had the parts for the repairs. I received the letter today telling me to call and set up an appointment. I spoke with ** who said to wait for yet another letter because the repairs were not being effective. This sounded fishy, so I called Mazda Corporate and spoke with Jose. He called ** at Premier Mazda. He was told ** had given inaccurate info and told me to call ** who would set up an appointment. I have called Premier and left messages to get a call back. I feel I am being ignored!
Windshield has chipped and cracked so that it had to be replaced and could not be repaired - 4 times in 2 years. Is Mazda addressing this issue? I am not paying for another windshield. There is clearly a design flaw - is this how they accomplished good gas mileage for this SUV?? Id rather pay the extra fuel costs.
I recently purchased a certified pre-owned Mazda 6. After owning it for only 5 months, the brake pads on the front of the vehicle are completely worn. Mazda expects me to pay $100 to fix my vehicle? I feel this to be ridiculous. I shouldnt have brake issues so soon after owning a car and Mazda should do the right thing and fix my vehicle for free.
I have previously owned 2 Mazdas. The last Mazda 6 was totaled in accident. As I recovered, I began to decide on a replacement vehicle. I was drawn to Mazda. The new 6s do not have the same sporty look as my previous 6, so I considered other styles. As we were test driving several vehicles, including a 3, the salesman pointed us to a cx-7 under the dealership awning. He pointed out the incredible deal due to the enormous vinyl windshield cover at $21,999.00. We test drove the 7 and decided on this vehicle. The salesman had us consider owning this vehicle versus another 7 with lesser options for similar retail. Inside, another man entered the cubicle to inform us that the windshield cover had been put on the wrong vehicle. I am familiar with signing and obligation, so relevance here is the constant. The vehicle was not just on the lot, but in a hot spot under the awning and according to the conversation, had been signed wrong since at least the previous day.I did not purchase a vehicle from the dealership that day or since then and have been deliberating on the most respectful way to handle this situation. I look forward to action to rectify this unusual situation.Cordially,Lucy
I have a 2008 Mazda 6, 2.3 Sport with 68,000 miles on it. The engine receives regular oil changes and has never been low on oil. Recently the engine started making a knocking sound at about 2500 rpm. The sound got worse and it would appear that I need a new engine at a cost of around $6000. I dont see how this could happen on a product that is less than 4 years old that has received regular maintenance. Mazda is a joke but worse than that is the fact that I have recommended this brand to my father and friends (two of them now own one). I really dont want to invest any more money into this car but it isnt worth any money without being able to drive it.
Dealership sucks, vehicle is good! No doubt that I had done my homework. Family I come from ** is Honda lovers and this was first time, I went out and opted for #mazdacanada. Mazda has some great features which Honda was missing and I was forced to cut down ROGUE because 4 cameras were headache and risky than technology developed by #mazda. Honda CRV, I realized is under power engine and whenever you need force/power, you can sense a howling and growling engine. It has overpriced itself and these two were major reason to opt for Mazda CX-5. There is one camera but sensors are used so intelligently that I have to say they made a niche for themselves. As soon as a car is in your blind spot - you dont/should not be looking into camera feeds - in Mazda CX-5, sensors make a yellow light glow in your mirror with a beep indicating that there is vehicle or person in your blind spot. I am over six feet - so entering and exiting is slight... a little bit tight... I have to adjust my posture of entering and exiting from this vehicle. My dealer experience was not as good as I wanted to be - #abbotsfordautomall #automall where #vipmazda is situated, didnt clarify before I reach to finance department that #bumper to bumper warranty is for 3 years only. They try to sell you insurance cover for those extra 2 years. Second bad taste happened, again when I was facing finance department that INSURANCE have to be from the dealer. They informed me that INSURANCE cannot be done from outside brokers or agents! Coming back to vehicle, its comfortable and nice... Ride is good but still cabin is not silent as I was expecting... In total, this is great vehicle which shows innovations and intelligent designing done by Mazda. This is made in Japan and quality of interior is not as bad as we see in Honda CRV. I like the way sensors handles vehicle and its power... when FWD will be changed in AWD is done auto. Thus it saves lot of fuel. I have driven it in fresh snow, black ice and the way vehicle managed traction and control is awesome. Seating is good and boot is comfortable too. I would definitely suggest this vehicle for small family usage - its navigation and sunroof is added features which helps in movement.
The fuel rail leaked fuel last March on my CX9, three months after I made my last payment. It was 8000 miles out of warranty. The cost was over $1000. Town North Mazda in Richardson and Mazda USA refused to help me with repair costs, even though this is not a wear and tear part. They did offer to sell me a new car though. I believe it was defective. I wrote several appeals for help, but to no avail. 6 months later, the front-wheel bearing went bad, fusing to the hub despite having the car checked at a dealership when I first heard the noise. $500! Now the AC switch is not working. Hopefully only a relay, but it may turn out to be a blower-motor. Probably another $1000 in repairs. This car has seen the shop more in the last 8 months than my previous Ford 156,000 miles in 10 years. No more Mazdas in my garage. Reading this site is disturbing. It is not necessarily the list of complaints about reliability, but Mazdas apparent lack of concern for its customers. Or should I say suckers. Now I know why Mazda has such a great track record with recalls. There arent any. I am dumping this CX9. Any readers should follow my advice and do the same. Expensive lesson learned.
I bought a Mazda CX-5 cross over SUV in March. Overall - I like the car. I paired my Blackberry phone on AT&T to the Mazda system and I can make and receive wireless hands free calls - works well. When I receive emails I get a message that asks me if I want to download them for display on the LCD screen. When I click OK I get a message saying they can’t download the message and to try later. But of course there is never a later success. Has anyone seen a correction for this problem from Mazda?
Well, guess what? That vibration that they supposedly fixed (with used parts - that I did not authorize) - still rears it head every now and then. I got stuck with the car and they had to change the valve body - on a brand new car that had roughly 3000 miles on it (yes, that is 3 thousand miles) and ever since I have a hard downshift that although the tech tells me he feels, the dealership repair center tells me is normal - this is of course after I returned it because of the hard downshift and the Rep told me that the computer needed to relearn my driving habits. Almost 1000 miles later, it is still doing it.NOW for the new problems. Yesterday I went to shift out of park and the transmission did not shift. 3 times I tried, finally it shifted. This morning I went to start my car via remote and I kept getting a P code on the fob. Book says its because the car was not in PARK. (Um yeah okay - car was parked in the driveway since 6pm the night before... and shut off). Cant wait for the BS they tell me now... Do yourself a favor. DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER MAZDA. NO ONE - I REPEAT - NO ONE IS HELPFUL AND ALL THEY DO IS LIE TO YOU.
Well, if you want to be mislead, lied to and taken advantage of then I suggest you come here. I went into Mazda back in March 2019 to test the CX-5, after driving it around and listening all the great features I started to become more and more interested in the vehicle. Zakou, my sales rep tried to get me the best deal. I explained to him I still had 3 more months left on my previous lease but he assured me it wouldnt be an issue because Mazda would take care of the remaining balance (which by the way, was written in the contract and stated in all the paperwork signed by them and myself).Well, to cut the story short, its been almost three months since I switched to Mazda, my previous lease hasnt been paid off yet although they took the vehicle from me, I have been CONSTANTLY reaching out to my sales rep, calling the store, asking for a manager, financial manager, ANYONE that could help me out and all I get is: I will find out what is going on and I will reach out to you but I never hear back from anyone, and the manager seems to never be available. The only person I was able to talk to was the manager for used cars who obviously had no idea what I was talking about and also promised to call back, but I am still waiting for that call - one week later-.I have sent copies of the letters from my previous car dealership regarding the missed payments and how this was reported to the credit bureaus damaging my credit and all Zakou (the sales rep) would say is that he passed it on to his managers. When I asked which manager so I could follow up he would say I could just call and ask for one and they would all know what I was talking about, which again, LIES, because not once was I able to get a hold of a manager, they seemed to NEVER be there, and when I would reach out to Zakou again, hed tell me the same thing making me even more upset at the fact that I was not getting any concrete answers.The last thing I was told by my sales rep was for me to pay the balance and bring them a cancelled check for a refund which at this point I refuse because that is not what I agreed on, and if I wouldve known that from the beginning I would have just waited out the three months so I wouldnt be stuck with two lease payments!! It is safe to say, this has been by FAR the worse experience with a dealership that has failed tremendously with their customer service. Their lack of attention or interest in my situation has made my experience so sour, if it wasnt for my contract I would have returned the vehicle already so I wouldnt have to deal with them.
I was driving to the city and suddenly I start hearing a faint tapping/knocking sound at low revolution per minute (rpm). I continued to drive to the city and took care of my business, and then came back home at the end of the day with no problems besides the fact that there was always that faint knocking sound at low rpm.The next day, I brought it to my local mechanic. He said the car is drivable, but I should bring it to Mazda because it is under warranty, and they should take care of it. I had the car towed to them because I didnt have the time to drive there, and I had free towing from Mazda since my vehicle is still under warranty.I called them every day until the third day they told me that there is a hole in my engine and oil was leaking out, and they wanted to see my oil change receipts. When I heard them tell me that, I said immediately that they must have the wrong car because my car came in running with no problems that they stated. There was no oil on the floor. I had checked the oil before it came to them, and it was perfect. My car was drivable. I obliged to their request because Mazda is a big corporation that must surely work honestly with their customers. I also figured that they were exaggerating when they said all of this. I sent them the information. After calling them repeatedly, they finally told me a week later that my receipts looked sketchy” and that Mazda Corporation wouldnt cover the warranty. I proceeded to tell them that their claim is totally false and impossible. I had the oil changed every 3-4 months, approximately 2500 miles (I drive locally and take the train to school).Then they proceeded to send it again to Mazda Corporation after I told them that there is a problem on their part. Again, they denied the warranty work. So, I went down to pick up the car after three weeks because I need my car. When I turned on the car, it sounded like a tractor and then would die on its own. I tried to start it up again and give it some gas, and the rpm fluctuated, then it dies. It was clearly not the condition that it was when I brought to them. The check engine light was on, and they said that I told them that it was knocking. My car was not drivable; it was in significantly worse shape and value than when I brought it to them. They gave me the runaround the whole time I was trying to correspond with them. The assistant manager, Jim, had a regular advisor deal with the situation, which is naive and lacking in responsibility on his part. This advisor just started two weeks prior and clearly didnt know anything. I asked him how this was possible. He kept on saying that he simply started two weeks ago, and he couldnt answer my questions. So, I said to him, “Can you get me someone who can get answers because you clearly cant help me.” He then raised his voice and made threats; so, I did the same. Then the manager came in and took over partially. He told me to call Mazda customer service, which I did right then and there. The customer service representative told me that I needed to deal with the dealership. After going back and forth between the dealership and the customer service, I left without my car because I didnt anticipate having to tow my car.The following week, I paid for a towing service to bring my vehicle to my local mechanic. I brought it to my mechanic locally, and after looking it over it, it looked like they drained the oil, and ran the engine at high rpm until the problem got worse enough for them to tell what the problem was. They obviously have done this many times and are professionals at this. They know exactly what to say, and what story to stick by. They also put a dent on my car that I know for a fact wasnt there when I gave it to them. I took pictures of it.
As indicated in the service record when I got my first oil change, I had 3,000 miles on my 2012 Mazda 5 when I first complained to a Mazda dealer that my car would wobble when going forward into a right turn and in reverse when making a left turn. The service people said they could not recreate the problem as stated on the work order, but it would mysteriously go away for a while when I complained during multiple oil changes. Recently, at 25,000 miles, the service manager at this dealership finally told me my rotors were out of round so they were going to ground them down to make them straight. I requested they be replaced with new rotors but they said no. The dealer who sold me the car with the defective rotors said no and Mazda Headquarters said see the dealer who sold me the car.The dealer I bought the car from said its an issue of wear and he doesnt do warranty work unless hes paid by Mazda. His service mgr. said he didnt feel or see a problem during a test drive after the rotors were filed down so they refused to replace them. If it was an issue of wear, the problem would not have been occurring since I bought the car. Filing down the rotors mostly eliminated the problem, thus indicating the rotors were bad from the start. To make sure the dealer saw information about the wheels wobbling in formal complaints on paperwork from the 3,000- and 25,000-mile oil changes, I filed a complaint with the state. They sent me a notice that the dealer said it was a wear problem and they would check with Mazda Headquarters!!Now Im wondering if the State of Michigan Attorney General has the will to tackle big business. I sent them every piece of information related to the problem and I would like my rotors replaced. Anybody out there have any ideas, similar problems?
We have had a 2015 Mazda CX-5 for about 6 months. Its a comfortable car and is pretty fun to drive (no comparison to my BMW X5 35d but then it was half the price!) My wife drives this car 98% of time. Most of the miles are on the Interstate. We are very unimpressed with the mpg. Claimed for the 2.5 AWD is 30 highway and 24 town with 26 avg. - we are nowhere near that. The current average is 21 mpg! Yes its been awfully cold but even my diesel Bimmer only loses -1.5 mpg average (which is still 25.5!). Ive also found the AWD to be mediocre at best. We have a 2013 Subaru Crosstrek that my oldest son drives and it is 10 times the vehicle in snow. My advice is dont believe all the magazine reviews! Apparently all the ads Mazda is running sells cars and gets good reviews. In hindsight, I would likely have been better off with the Subaru Outback or Honda CR-V. The fit finish and appeal of the CX-5 are great. But if you are most concerned about fuel economy and winter roads...keep shopping.
Mazda Corporation in Canada has a huge problem that seems to be growing week over week. I purchased a new Mazda CX5 10 months ago. The vehicle drives fantastic. It just needs a lot of TLC. Paint is not evenly distributed leaving visible color distortions. Front bumper is not, absolutely not, suitable for winter driving in Canada. I went through a spray - car was to get the salt and grime off the car and the bumper just cracked. Dealer is telling me I hit something... No scuff marks, no other damage than a crack that starts exactly where there is a cut out in the bumper. This is a flaw in the plastic material that the bumper is made of. I will eventually replace the bumper but at $ 1,000.00 it simply is not feasible right now. The infotainment system is cause for long debates with the dealer and on the phone with Mazda Canada customer support. I have also put in a claim at the MTO (Ministry of Transportation in Ontario) to see if they are willing to see the point of a defective infotainment unit that requires constant attention during driving. USB drives simply crash, Bluetooth becomes grayed out. Needs a complete disconnect from the battery to resolve (plus reprogramming). Dealer states that they did a firmware upgrade but only tested for the GPS system and, since I keep that up to date (I had to purchase maps to be updated quarterly), it showed on the bill that the firmware already was up to date. That is not the firmware!! The infotainment also has a firmware that can be checked by pressing radio on/off and audio at the same time. Since the dealer made a statement that the firmware is up to date, Mazda Canada does not want to respond to any flaws or changes that need to be made. Music volume is just unacceptable. I had to crank the sound to 30 before I can even hear the speakers and there is a constant hiss at lower music levels. Dont even think of driving with the roof open. You will have to crank it all the way up to 45 or 50 (65 is the max). I purchased the GS model for this. The sunroof is a much welcome tool in keeping the temps in the car at bay in the summer. The OEM tires will not last for more than 40,000 KM by the way. Last but not least: the dealer will only work on any TSB (technical service bulletin) when the customer insist. It is not done voluntarily. Mazda Canada still claims there are no TSBs for the car - if asked why they are so secretive about this, they claim that all works as it was meant to be. The car, in their eyes, is perfect. In my opinion, the many test reports are flawed and I have also contacted these sites and producers of the shows with the facts. Also the Dealers insist you take the rust proofing and if you do the car will be ready in 4 days. I refused ant it took 2 weeks with the 3M protection film still missing. These tricks will be pressed upon the buyer when I thought I was done with the purchase. I have deep regrets I purchased the car. I will zoom-zoom for a little longer but this car will not last the full 10 years my (t)rusty Ford Taurus did. I do not recommend anyone to purchase a Mazda CX5 if peace of mind is important.
OK, the car drives and handles well so thats why it gets two stars but otherwise owning it has been awful. The computer needs to update? Reboots in the middle of driving. No kidding, literally on the road, using the navigation I spent several hundred dollars for, the cars computer reboots. Not once, twice. I take it to the dealership, the guy says yeah, the computer needs to be updated, no big deal.Then there is the computer not recognizing my phone 9 times out of 10, including when I wanted to dial 911 to report an accident. So useful! Even when it does recognize the phone, want to play Pandora? Better have the phone on and Pandora open or else nope. Open phone and turn on Pandora after the car decides it cant find them? Nope. Not going to recognize Pandora until you turn the car off and back on again. Want to use the iPod that is literally plugged into it? Maybe. We might let you. Unless we refuse to recognize it until you reboot the iPod and turn off and on the car.Then the drivers seat ripped within a few months of purchase. I took it in, it took weeks to replace the seat. Then the plastic piece that protects the electronics under the drivers seat broke. I took it in, got it fixed, that took weeks because the part had to be ordered. It broke again. I got it fixed again. It just broke this evening, and I just dont even know what to do. I deeply regret purchasing this vehicle.
I had my 2010 Mazda CX-7 turbo and transmission replaced. What an awful SUV!
I had happily owned 2 Mazda 6 2006 sedan and wagon and was considering another when the diesel comes out. That was last week. This week, without warning, the clutch pedal went to the floor and made a loud bang grinding noise. The car has extended warranty from Mazda. We had told Mazda for over a year, it was hard to get into reverse and the 1-2 chatter noise but never got any resolution on this. I took the car in and the dealer said it would be a clutch, which was not covered. I was not happy but somewhat ok with that. It turned out that when the part failed (Throwout bearing), it destroyed the transmission and that is not covered (Mazda Customer service must know about the problem as they tell you it is not covered and basically hang up on you).Same with MEPP, which I paid a great deal of money for bumper to bumper extended total care, which is supposed to cover manual transmission but somehow does not. I’m getting rid of both cars and may have to junk my other car, which went from being worth 10k to 0 in an instant by a bearing which should be covered. Don’t buy Mazda. They dont stand behind their products. Always dealer serviced and just was serviced and passed MAZDA (Green light thing they give you every time its serviced making you feel like its all good, which is a lie). $3,000.00 to replace the clutch is insane. Its not a skyline GTR.
I bought a 2005 Mazda RX8 and Ive had nothing but problems with it ever since. Ive had to replace the fuel pump, the clutch, the catalytic converter, both O2 sensors, the crankshaft positioning sensor, the mass airflow sensor and now the engine is smoking. It is nothing but a lemon and I am still paying on the stupid car.
I had purchased a 2000 Mazda V6 from an independent dealer. He sold the car with no warranties. I purchased my car on 3/5/12 and less than five hours after I had the car, my engine blew. The owner does not want to fix my engine nor refund me the amount that it will cost for me to put another one in the vehicle. The car was $2,700 total. After weeks of trying to get the situation fixed, he said that he will put $350 towards another engine and I have to pay the rest. That is not fair to me as a consumer because I didnt have the car long enough to blow the engine and I feel like I should not have to pay out of my pocket to replace it.
While riding on the freeway with my daughter, our engine knocked and started to go slow, super slow like 10-20 miles per hour. I slowly pulled off and called my husband. He towed the car to Mazda and their excuse was because of vehicle maintenance, they would not replace the engine. They said there was sludge in the engine. Mazda has denied our warranty claim because of sludge in the engine, however this issue is caused by Mazdas faulty design in the turbo engine/timing chain which cooks the engine oil. Our car is only 2 years old and has only 50K miles and they are saying the sludge is caused by the owner. Ive had several vehicles and even if we never got an oil change an engine doesnt die like that from oil changes. Mazda will not provide us with any pictures or a copy of the denial report to verify this issue. Our warranty claim is denied and they will not even talk to us about this issue. Terrible product and customer service.To get this problem resolved, we must report this very unsafe issue to the Government, Better Business Bureau, and all other outlets. Everyone please complete a report so we can get some justice! God forbid someone could have run into the back of my car with my child in it!The best avenue to make us aware of an issue is to file a formal complaint with us, the NHTSA National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. I bought a 2006 Mazda speed 6 in October of 2006. The car was in the shop more than out. In August 2010, I took it to two dealerships for white exhaust smoke. They stated that it had to do with the turbo and the motor was shot. They would not cover it under warranty. I could not afford to fix the car as it would cost over $5000. I gave the car back to the bank even though I loved that car. Two days ago, I get a letter from Mazda saying that they are now covering this repair under the warranty. I was so mad that I gave up my car and now they are covering it. If they would have covered it back when I first brought it in, I would still have that car!
Mazda 5 2008 Electrical problem. First transmission going from drive to lower gear electronically - change out 3 computer and wiring harness. Now heater blower fuse blows and sometimes the lights & horn blow after shutting off the car.
My oil cooler started to leak. The dealer told me that the problem is a gasket, but I need to buy the whole part (oil cooler). After doing some investigation on the internet, Mazda knows that this is a problem and is not doing anything about it. If I dont get this part changed by Mazda (at the very least get a discount), I will never buy a Mazda again. I really love my CX-7 but this is not the only problem I had with it. This is the one that really filled my jar.
Please let it be known that I nor my family will EVER be buying another Mazda ever again and I will be making it very public about how Mazda “helps” their customers. I leased a 2016 Mazda CX-5 after thinking it was the best decision for my family. I am now 8 months pregnant with my second child, have had the car for less than 2 years and the display screen is glitching. I found out it needs an infotainment display screen that will cost me $1200+. This is a MANUFACTURER issue and according to dealerships a known issue with these cars. It’s nothing I did and Mazda’s response back to me was, We can cover most of it but you will still have to pay about $400. So let me get this straight. I am LEASING and planned on financing what was at the time a brand new car in which a display screen went in less than 2 years which is a manufacturer issue so I cannot check any maintenance, no radio, etc. and I’m ** out of luck with getting it fixed? Great job Mazda. NEVER AGAIN.
08 Mazda cx9 - My transfer case has to be replaced and the dealer is saying even though it is covered under warranty that I have to pay $1500 because my tires caused this problem... Never heard of this. Sounds like a manuf. defect and am I getting screwed? Has anyone had this problem and why does transfer case go? Talked to different service mech and I am being told that it has nothing to do with the tires? Calling corporate about this, any other suggestions?
The only thing I do not like about my CX nine 2018 model is that it doesn’t have Apple CarPlay. Of course Mazda came out with Apple CarPlay with the following model year 2019 and then wanted to charge me $250 to install it in my car which I thought was a bunch of **.
