Lexus Will Reinvent Trademark Design Flourishes For The EV Age
Posted On: March 17, 2022
Lexus, like every other manufacturer, must have one eye on the future to survive. To that end, it has promised to introduce at least three new electric vehicles and has turned to design students to see what the future of luxury mobility may look like. Luxury Lexus mobility today looks good from most angles, but there's no denying that the brand's signature spindle grille is almost as controversial as BMW's elongated kidneys. With the right proportions, it can look pretty good, but as the Lexus LX proves, the Japanese automaker does not always show restraint. So will things change much when the automaker fully embraces electrification? In an interview with Luxurylaunches, Head of Toyota and Lexus Global Design Simon Humphries answers that question and more. Speaking on his sources for inspiration, Humphries says that people are his most obvious source, but he does admit that the trends of each era tend to influence car design, which could explain why those grilles are getting bigger and bigger. By the same token, the modern age has unlocked many new possibilities for designers, thanks to innovations like 3D printing that allow one to create shapes that would be impossible with conventional processes. Another factor that influences car design is the purpose of the car and its capabilities. Humphries explains that, when autonomous cars become mainstream, the interiors will have to change and the cars themselves could become small enough to seat only one individual, since personal mobility may become something of a pleasure with autonomous taxis and other forms of transport set to eventually make owning a car all but redundant. Fortunately, Humphries believes that this won't be an "all or nothing" situation where you can only commute autonomously, so cars should still provide joy to those who seek it in the future. "Personal transportation on a public level will grow, and the majority of the mobility needs will be fulfilled by those systems," explained Humphries. "That's a necessity because not everybody will be able to drive a car in the cities of the future - I don't think. But what will happen then is then that will allow the privately owned vehicles to be more specific. So if you can fulfill your everyday needs through an optimized system then the car that you buy can be, honestly, like a racing car; or it could be a box that you can live in almost. In other words, there's going to be more variety in the future to ownership as well. So [...] it will also enable a more emotional privately-owned sector to flourish."rnSimply put, Humphries sees the future of car design evolving to suit the purposes of each individual car and its buyers, and this will happen progressively. Autonomous tech still has a long way to go, and the changes that cars will undergo to better suit autonomous driving and its possibilities for occupants will be implemented very gradually. As for the infamous Lexus spindle grille that we first saw in 2011, changes to this will happen gradually too. When asked what will happen to the polarizing design trait when Lexus is all-in on EVs, Humphries explained why it exists at present and how it will evolve as follows:rn"The spindle grille - we originally developed that to encompass the needs for a radiator, but also for aerodynamic brake cooling. So function was all built into it. But the radiator is the symbol for an internal combustion engine. So what the future holds, in my mind, is that we have to develop it, evolve it to encompass sensors. [...] So, in the past, it was a hole to put air into the radiator. In the future, it's going to hold sensors and other functional elements of the future cars. So don't worry, it's not going to disappear. But it's going to change."rnHopefully, it'll get smaller and sexier. We'll just have to wait and see.

I have contacted the Lexus service and and went to the service departments in person. They all didnt accept the car. I dont get it. I had the car checked before I shipped it from the States and I did make a complaint about the engine shaking to the service department when I was in New York, Manhattan service center. I had the car checked and the service department told me everything was fine. Now the car is dangerous to drive, engine light is on and the traction light is on. I went to a mechanic here and he said that some cylinders needed to be replaced. Other than that, my drivers side drive shaft needs to be replaced due to the rubber that is wearing off and some kind of liquid is coming out of it, which cost a lot of money and I went to the dealership and they told me that they couldnt even order the parts for me because they would never come. The car has two recalls that needs to be done. The gas pedal keeps getting stuck to the carpet and something that has to do with the fuel, and Lexus is putting my life at risk because I got the car from the States. I really do not understand. The car is still a Lexus and still belongs to Lexus. Im demanding the repair to be done by Lexus company at least from Japan. If you would at least send me an email to someone I can speak to in Japan, I would really appreciate it. The car only has about 9000 miles which is considered still new. Ive asked the Lexus here in Saudi Arabia to at least check the car from the computer to see what the problem is. They refused and told me the codes wouldnt come up because its an American spec car which is really just an excuse because Im 100% sure that it will read all the codes. Please direct me to someones email, just someone who could help me. I moved to Saudi Arabia and had to ship my car because of my work and was transferred here. Im seriously going to look up legal actions against Lexus!

My Lexus car is small black and gray and red from the inside which I think is amazing because of the colors because I dont see a lot of people with the same colors. I feel like it is one of the most beautiful cars in the world just from its appearance. I would not buy any other car that looked different. I think I am the richest person on earth just looking at my car. It works amazing and I think that it is the best car ever and that everyone should buy one someday or you might not be lucky because of its upgrades and personalization options. However, I dont like how there is only 2 seats but I wish there were 4 to 5 to make more people sit in the car of amazingness. I also like how there is two seats because it drives faster and it is more customized.

In February of 2013 I leased a 2013 RX350 from Lexus in Peoria, IL. I kept smelling an odor coming from the vents and took it back to the dealership to fix the problem. They sprayed disinfectant in the vents and brought it back. That was in August of 2013, I could still smell it so they picked up the car again, sprayed again and changed the cabin filter. Still the smell was there! I have called the corporate office and they wont do anything more about it. In September I had to go to doctors office, received 3 shots and my doctor sent me to emergency room, got more shots and they did some blood test. They think I had an allergic reaction, we think because of the mildew. When I told corporate about this they said it was because of my driving habits,???? I have tried everything I know to do. In February 2014 I had ANOTHER allergic reaction, was sent to doctors office and had to get a shot! Was in bed for the whole weekend again. I am only leasing this vehicle and they wont fix it!!

This vehicle is so beautiful. There are so many options and features on it. I love all the new technology to make it so convenient for me in my daily life. There are also so many choices and which one I am so grateful for the opportunity to take care of my needs and get the right one and be able to make choices for my needs. Compared to older versions I can get so many people in my new vehicle and still hold a lot of cargo. I dont have to worry about it and it makes life so much more easier.

Very plain and same year after year. Also they all look alike but what concerned me is the cars looked highly unsafe so I wouldnt buy another one. Too expensive to upgrade as if it was a Cadillac which it wasnt. Also didnt have many cool upgrades or up to date upgrades. Has an ok amount of room but could use more leg room and comfortable seats. Theyre very hard and lumpy and can never go to sleep in them. Didnt see many brands or choices with them is why I was highly dissatisfied. Would not recommend them to anyone in the future or first time car buyers as well!

I brought my wife’s 2002 in for regular service to Palm Beach Lexus. It needed tires and some maintenance, which I authorized. After doing the initial work that I had authorized for around $2,500 they sent me an estimate for approximately $8,500 for items they said also needed repair. One of the items they claimed was faulty, was the engine mounts. Since the car only had 66,000 miles on it, I found that hard to believe since they had replaced the engine mounts previously when the car had about 38,000 miles. My wife and I have been Palm Beach Lexus customers for around 20 years and we have purchased 4 Lexus SUVs from them. We have had good service up until 2-3 years ago when they changed service managers, since then the service has gone downhill. We then took the vehicle to an independent repair shop to see what additional service was actually needed. They came to the conclusion that 50% of the estimate that Palm Beach Lexus gave us, was not at all necessary. They claimed the engine mounts were in like new condition and many of the other items on the estimate were absolutely not necessary. I obviously was upset and called Lexus Guest Experience Center and spoke to Eric ** a case manager. He said that since the vehicle was out of warranty they couldnt and wouldn’t do anything to help and he did not seem at all concerned that the Lexus dealership was inflating estimates. He said since we were good Lexus customers he would give us a $1,500 three month Good Will Offer to purchase or lease another Lexus. I received and filed the Good Will email offer because I was planning on turning in my 2016 RX450H for a new vehicle. Two months later I started shopping for a new Lexus at a different dealership because I was not about to use Palm Beach Lexus. When I looked at the Good Will Offer the expiration date was dated the same date I spoke to the case manager (Eric **). I again called Lexus Guest Experience and ended up speaking with someone else. I told that person I was very disappointed that no one ever followed up on my original claim regarding the false estimate I was give from Palm Beach Lexus. And to make matters worse I was also given a Good Will Offer that expired in one day. That person told me I had to speak with Eric ** the original case manager and he would call me back. Eric ** called me back a few days later and seemed to have a bad attitude. I told him I was in the process of leasing or buying a new Lexus and would appreciate it if they could extend the offer. He said the Good Will Offer was only good for 3 months and he would not extend the offer. He said when the offer expires they would review it. Obviously, I was not very happy with his response. A few weeks later, I found a new 2019 Lexus RX450H at J M Lexus that I was planning to get, so I called Eric ** to get the Good Will Offer authorized. It took him a few days to get back to me and when he did he said he wouldn’t authorize the Good Will Offer until after I purchase the new vehicle. I told him that was unacceptable and I wanted to speak with someone else. He said he is the only one that makes that decision. I told him I was going to write a letter to Lexus Headquarters and he said go ahead, but it’s just going to come back to me. After all this I have no intention of ever purchasing another Lexus.

While driving my 12 year old daughter yesterday in my 2007 Lexus IS250 with a 105,000 miles my vehicles interior dash gauges and navigation starts flickering all crazy like it was possessed. Then the car looses power steering in a curve... As I try to slow down the power brake light comes on my daughter begins to cry.... This was not a good experience to be dealing with while driving your child. Thankfully I got the car pulled out of traffic and safely to a parking space... Thank God I wasnt on the interstate or the highway.....

I purchased a used 2008 LS460L from a Lexus dealer in Westminister, CA on 1/19/2015 - it had 90,067 miles. I have driven a 1999 LS400 with 82,000 mi that now has 225,000 mi. It has been the best car I have ever owned and never had a major expense. In fact all I have done since 2001 is put a starter in it at 151,000 mi. A broken trans. mount ($275), a rack and pinion, a cereal cable I broke, and an interior brake light bulb, 2 timing belts and two sets of iridium spark plugs - and the usual brakes, rotors and Mobil1, etc. I have never taken it to a Lexus dealer to get Charbucks and Bagels! I expected the same or better from an LS460L 15 yrs. newer ! Boy was I ever wrong. Now I have to replace both upper and lower front control arms or bushings The dealer wants $585 for ea. control arms or you can order after mkt. on EBAY, (i.e: two control arms for $189, which I did and they were put in at a shop for $180). The dealer quoted on 2/1/2013 - was $1875.81 parts plus $585 labor = $1460.81 + tax. It cost me with overnight postage from NY to Apple Valley, CA - UPS $115, parts $189, labor $180 = $393 TOTAL. The labor took two hrs. and $89 for another alignment. I still need the rear control arms put in as it is not in specs. Still!I just took the car on a road trip 3000 miles and had no problems. However the rear control arms still need to be replaced and the bushings are available on eBay for $49 for both sides, or you can pay the Lexus dealer $123.85 x 2 for control arms for both sides rear = $247.70 and $541.57 x 2 control arms - both sides 4 total $1330.84 + LABOR (?) + tax.

I am on my third IS Model Lexus and like the product. Unfortunately I have found my new 2016 IS 300 AWD stalls or feels like fuel starvation when I sometimes go to make a turn either right or left at low speeds or intersections. It becomes very concerning when you are turning into traffic or across traffic and it feels like you will not make it across the intersections. The yellow flashing engine light comes on but I have notified the dealership 3 times (at Service Intervals) and no fault can be found. Has anyone else experienced similar challenges with their Lexus IS 300 AWD too?

Called in yesterday to a Brisbane Lexus dealer to get a value on my 2017 Lexus ES350. The vehicle is 27 months old, in pristine condition, has just had its 2 year service and has under 18,000 klms on the clock. I was offered in the low $30k should I want to sell it. WOW! How can a vehicle be devalued by over 50% in just over 2 years? No wonder buyers are looking more to buying demo or second-hand vehicles. Maybe it would make good financial sense to check the resale value of BMW, Audi or Mercedes before looking at a Lexus. I am still in a state of shock!

I just purchased a 2017 Lexus RX-350. When driving it home, I felt an extensive vibration (exhaust drone noise vibration issue) and a transmission lag problem. Initially, I thought it might be the highway. Ultimately, I felt it on all roads. I brought the car back to Lexus service and they told me that these are known Lexus problems with no solution. Upon further research, I discovered that these problems also existed in the 2016 model.Lexus sales management explained to me that this problem was due to Lexus extending the length of the vehicle coupled with a higher horsepower engine, HUH??? I am in the process of speaking with Lexus customer satisfaction regarding this issue. I would not recommend buying this vehicle unless you are sure that your car does not have this problem.

We bought my Wife a 2006, Lexus RX330 from a dealer in Scottsdale, AZ, One of Warren Buffets dealerships, Infiniti of Scottsdale. The dealership claims they check used vehicles thoroughly and fix any problems, but dont believe it. We bought a warranty for it but it doesnt cover a lot of things. Since owning this vehicle the last 2-1/2 years we have had to repair the following on this P.O.S.: The power steering high pressure line, the suspension control arms and bushings, half of the catalytic convertor bank, the rotors and brakes, and now this week they tell me my fuel tank charcoal canister is bad.The warranty covered $2,500.00 for the suspension parts, we paid $2,800.00 for the warranty! The rest of the repairs has cost us, out of pocket, $3,800.00. I will never buy a Lexus again! If this is the top of the line Toyota, I would hate to see what the entry models are like. Honda, Chevrolet, and even Ford are much more dependable and way more affordable to keep running and on the road.

I purchased a 2014 Lexus IS 250 in February. Since buying the car I have noticed the gray spots popping up everywhere in the paint, so I took the car to Lexus of South Atlanta to have them look at it. They told me it was from bird poop, which I knew was not the case since my car stays clean. I had three other people look at the car after that to tell me it was not bird poop causing the paint to do that, that it was a defect with the paint they used to paint the car. Since the car is still under all warranties I call the Corporate office of Lexus and opened a case. Once I was contacted by the case worker I explained the issue to her and she then told me to take it to the closest Lexus dealer and have them do a work order and inspect the car she would then follow up with me. So I called the dealer and set up a time to bring it in. When I got to the dealer the service manager at Lexus of South Atlanta was so rude to me and told me he could not look at my car due to the rain which made no sense seeing how the car was in the shop not outside. The following day my case worker called and then told me I had to bring it back and try and have them look at it again so that being the 3rd time taking it to that dealership. They took pictures of my car and told me that they would be sent off to cooperate then they would let me know when I needed to bring my car in yet again for the 4th time to have a man from Corporate look at the car. The following week my case worker calls to tell me Lexus of South Atlanta had contacted her and said nothing was wrong with the car and they would not be fixing it. I asked her who she spoke with. It was the service manager there which he had no part in speaking to me or writing the work order to know what was going on with the car. She was going to close my case since he had called. I complained and she said we can go to the next step and have a man from Corporate look at it. Finally the man from Corporate was able to look at the car. When we first met and I was showing him the spots he says oh yeah something is going on here, then ask if we can have a body shop look at it since he was not aware that the whole car had spots. He thought it was just the door and a finder. So we took it to a body shop near the dealership which is one Lexus uses quite often. A few different men that work at the body shop look over the car and say they think its from a chemical and that it would be $10k to repaint. The man from Corporate then tells me if it was just the one panel and door he would fix it no problem but it being the whole car they dont feel that its a paint defect and that they wont fix it. The service manager was trying his hardest to talk us out of wanting the car fixed. Told me my rims would come back scratched, that the value of my car will drop so much that if I traded it in I wouldnt get anything for, but if I was to trade it in how it sits with spots all over Im sure I would get way less than what I would if the paint was fixed. I picked Lexus as a car because they are suppose to be nice cars that wont give you problems as long as you maintain them like you should and only owning my since February and seeing how I get treated at their dealerships makes me want to never own one again and to make sure everyone I know, knows how terrible their customer service is. Their cars are not cheap and there is no reason my car should have messed up paint. I truly think Lexus doesnt want to fix my car because of the price it will cost them. And dealing with their Corporate office is just as bad as dealing with Lexus of South Atlanta. If you miss the call and call back like the case workers ask you to do in the voice message they leave you, can never get in touch with them, and they wont call back for another day or two. I highly recommend if youre considering a Lexus car to look up reviews and do your research because my experience with Lexus in the short months of owning my car have been terrible!

They have the most technologically advanced cars with dozens of features not found with other vehicles. You can upgrade a Lexus to your liking and preference. On May 9, 2012, I purchased a used 2004 Lexus RX 330 for $14,600. I put a down payment of about $6,000 down and financed about $10,000. My payments are for 3 years at around $240. I drove the vehicle to the Lexus manufacturer to have them find out why my vehicle has a bad odor and other items on vehicle. I found out that this vehicle’s sunroof had been leaking and as a result of the sunroof leaking, that carpet has built up mold and was needed to be replaced. They also found out that there were other things on vehicle that needed replacing; seat belt in the rear seat, front arm controls needed to be replaced, radiator needed to replaced, engine cap was clogged, bushing needed to be replaced, the extra key needed a battery, several dents on the vehicle, tires needed to be replaced and several dents and items that needed to be replaced on the vehicle. The manufacturer advised me that the vehicle was not safe to be on the street without these repairs. I took my concern to Steven and he told me several times that he was not going to fix the problem because he did not have to. He insulted me and my relative and he became very belligerently loud and abusive for no reason. I left the premises and advised him I would be back. It has been 1 month later and this situation has not, up to now, been resolved. Can you please help, because I am paying for car insurance and I have the car payment? This vehicle is just sitting in my driveway for the last 2 months. I have had to rent a rental so that I could pick up and take my son back and forth to college. I hope you can help.

The Lexus aesthetic features are that of a sleek body and exterior and distinct interior features like leather stitching. The vehicles have a smart key entry system, and many models have touchscreen controls and a navigation screen interface. There are tons of options available for upgrades and personalizations with Lexus. Upgrade options include performance-related ones like engine components and fuel systems, as well as aesthetic/personal interests like suspension systems and racing equipment. Passenger capacity for larger size sedans and SUV models are great. All models are comfortable for their individual capacities, and Lexus has a lot of models that can accommodate larger numbers of passengers while still allowing for cargo and extra things to haul in the vehicles.

Showed the service writer Jaime at Pembroke Pines Lexus the center console covering that was cracking and degrading. He wrote up a service order and told me he would contact me in a few days regarding a warranty claim. I called him a week later and he told me that the person that handles warranty claims went on vacation and would be back in a week. I went away and after I returned I called him on February 5th or so. He said he had not heard anything but he would contact the appropriate people and have an answer for me by days end. I told him if I did not hear from him I would be calling Lexus. He assured me he would call that day. I never heard from him.I called Lexus USA and spoke to Ed. He said he would check into it and get back to me by Friday. I missed his call on Friday. He called Tuesday and informed me that as the dealer had told me, the damage as normal wear and tear. I just told him that my family had 4 Lexus automobiles and they would be our last. When you sell a car for $75,000, the interior should last more than 3 years. My previous car was a 2003 Cadillac, cost 1/2 as much and when I bought the Lexus the center console was in better shape after eight years of use than the Lexus is after 3 years. By the way, Ed from Lexus offered to pay for 1/2 the repair. As far as I am concerned the Lexus warranty is only a 1/2 warranty shown by this situation.

Tinted windows, stereo sound system and special interior coverings are available. Leather, cloth and wood trim are just some of the available options. It has a space big enough for enough people if you are trying to travel in a group to carpool or to just take family on a trip with you. There is a good amount of storage also.

I currently own a 2013 GS. Initially, customer service was great until I had an issue with what should have been a routine fix. The problem is consistent throughout the lineup with the speaker performance. The door speakers are outperformed by the center channel and satellite speakers. The problem wasnt necessarily the manufacturer defect, but the treatment by the service staff. Im surprised a class action lawsuit hasnt taken place against Lexus for refusing to honor items covered under warranty or acknowledgement of the problem. To sum it up, the ten speaker layout in the 2013 Lexus GS 350 has a defect in the system. The voice coil in the door speakers malfunctions causing feedback to the channel. Today, I make my stand and refuse to be insulted by Lexus any more. Pursuit of perfection? Please adopt a new slogan. This is a brand I will never affiliate myself with, and yes never really means never.

I was told at the Lexus dealer that my style vehicle that all the rims are doing that. They had a few on their lot for service. They went and looked at their rims and they were bubbling also.I do know why and Lexus corporate wont stand behind these defects. I dont know about you. If you spend that kind of money for a car you consider top of the line, well I feel that they are the bottom of the line. I have been a business owner in Farragut, Tenn over 23 yrs and I will make sure ALL my client know how they stand up for their product which they dont. So customer BEWARE ONCE ITS YOURS. LEXUS WONT HELP WITH THIS THAT GO WRONG WITH A CAR that should have happened. Poor craftsmanship. I have had 3 Nissan Pathfinders. 2 of them have had over 250000, never a running board problem or cracked dash and NO BUBBLING RIMS.

I recently bought a 2006 Lexus IS350, For some odd reason it was difficult for me to drive the vehicle due to visibility, turns out the vehicle has a worldwide issue with melting dashboards! Making it hard to drive as it reflects your visibility. The first thing I did was contact my nearest Lexus dealer and ask if they can fix this issue! GUESS WHAT! THEY CANT AND WONT! Turns out theyve extended the warranty already for 10 years, so for customers and drivers who have bought the car after the 10 year mark ARE OUT OF LUCK. THIS IS SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL AS IT DIMINISHES YOUR VISIBILITY! Other than this car I also own a 2008 Lexus RX350 WITH NO ISSUES, but Lexus has completely let me down on this. This shows they dont care about their product and customers, sadly this will be my last Lexus.

The Lexus has some very good features that many people will enjoy. The appearance looks super good and neat. Plenty of family and friends love the appearance of the car. Theres not much else that needs to be done with this brand because its good just how it is. This car is perfect the way that it already is and the upgrades of this car compared to others are amazing. It has many different thing that other cars do not have and its really wonderful how nice this car actually is. Also, the amount of people you can fit in this car is normally like any other car. Overall it was a win and I love this car! I would suggest this to anyone who likes luxury cars because this is how this car is. :)

My 2013 Lexus ES 350 started leaking not long after we bought it new in August 2013. We have an automatic car wash by our house that we have used for years with no problems. My 13 Lexus always leaks and it has been to the dealership five times to figure out why. I even called them one morning on my way to work because rain was leaking in the roof. I was informed yesterday that the dealership got Lexus involved and that their response was that their car is not designed to go through a high pressure car wash and that it could not be fixed. I was shocked and terribly disappointed by their response. None of my previous cars, nor any of our friends or family who have cars with sunroofs have had a problem at this car wash, but Lexus cant design their car to go through leak free!? If they fixed it or told me they were still going to try and figure it out, it would be a little easier to accept, but to tell the consumer that essentially their car is not built well enough to withstand the same conditions as every other make and model out there indicates to me that it is not fit for operation and not worthy of its price tag!

I have a Lexus IS250 2008. Always park my car in my driveway, lived in the same place for 3 years and had my car for 3 years too. One night, came home, locked my car like every time. Next day woke up, getting ready to go to work, open my car and for my surprise my airbag was stolen - my whole entire system. They took the most expensive items from the car. They did not cut alarm wires or broke into the car. Made a police report, gave them evidence of what we found. We found what they call is a ghost key. This type of keys open any coded car without getting the alarm to go on. I contacted the dealer customer service and I ask how safe and secured is their car and they told me that it was the best car in security system. When I told them what had happened to my car they didnt know what to say and didnt want to help. My insurance told me that my car was a total loss. I was mad and disappointed with the Lexus company. I had a BMW before and it is a better secured car than the Lexus.

I leased a new 2014 Lexus IS 250 in July of this year. On December 2, I was driving in a Walgreens parking lot at less than 5 mph, when I turned the wheel to enter a parking space. The car accelerated, the brake didnt work and the car jumped into a planted median full of bushes, trees, and narrowly missed a phone pole by less than 1/2 foot. Only the mud in the median stopped the car. Naturally, I called Lexus and a tow truck was sent. Since that time, the Lexus dealership, JM Lexus, has had that car, inspecting it until December 10, when they called stating that there is nothing wrong with the car and that I should come and pick it up. Absolutely no information was given to me about test results, incorrect information was given to me about anticipated contact dates by Lexus corporate, and even management at the dealership appears to want to avoid any further discussions. In my conversations with Lexus corporate, they have provided minimal information and said the issue has been turned over to legal. In the meantime, I am driving a car that I am petrified to drive. It appears that it will take a product liability lawyer to intervene on my behalf.

Different dealerships offer different options, so you will have to check with your local dealership to see what they offer. Some options include gold plated badging, pin stripes, rubber floor mats, hood/front end stone chip protectant, etc. Their SUVs offer plenty of room for passengers with ample leg and head space. In Honolulu Hawaii - Driving one weekend, my Lexus RC350 just dies on the street. Nothing works and finally I give up and tow my car to Lexus. On Monday I call Lexus and talk to the service manager Bryan. He informs me that when the car got towed they couldnt start but as of this morning, car starts fine and they cant identify what the problem was. He informs me that the technician will run tests to find out what happened and get back to me. I wait a week and nobody calls me. I call Lexus back and was told Bryan was out for lunch and that he will call me back. No call back that day. Meanwhile, I am not even offered a loaner and taking Taxi to and from work on my own expense. I call back Lexus and ask for loaner and told theres none available. I end up complaining and miraculously they get a test model that I can use. Basic IS model which is not the same level as what Im paying for but I didnt complain as I thought it was for a short time. However, if theres a test model car they can offer as a loaner, shouldnt I have been offered this from Day 1 instead of after few calls? Anyway, I get my loaner and feel better that at least now I have a way of transportation. Another Week goes by while I wait patiently and dont hear back so AGAIN call Lexus. At this point Im told that they still cant identify the problem and running more tests. I told the manager that I understand the situation but would appreciate some type of communication back as they make progress. Of course on phone Im given the yes absolutely. I had a business trip so end up not being bothered for 10 days and get back to Hawaii. Meanwhile I had my phone but never did get a call back. Another several days go by without a call which now my car has been in the shop for a month. Cant get in touch with Bryan and the receptionist tells me she will take message so I explain to her the situation and tell her that I just need someone to keep me updated. Nobody calls me back. By now, its nearly 6 weeks and I am just astonished at the bad customer service. I end up calling Lexus and explaining the entire situation to the receptionist and asking for the GM. I didnt get a call back from GM but the Asst GM calls me and finally some light at the end of the tunnel. He tells me that he wants to help and was apologetic. He tells me that technician needs to run more tests. I end up telling him that I want to get out of the lease so I can be done with and move on. Once I mention terminating my lease, GM ends up calling me few days later and tells me that I only have several months left so he wont release me from my lease. He offers me one month lease waiver as compensation. Finally after 2 months, I get a callback and told my car is fixed. I go to Lexus excited to finally put this long 2 month battle to an end and the cashier tells me I owe almost $900. I tell him that its covered in the lease/warranty and theres no way Im paying for it. With attitude, he tells me well you can talk to the service manager. Bryan who never returned my calls comes and tells me that its their mistake. At this point, I am just disgusted with their communication process and tell him to ask the GM to call me back. No return call for several days so I call back and speak to another manager and he tells me that the GM had family emergency and is not in the office. Finally after another several days, GM calls me back. I explain the situation again with being told to pay and the cashier attitude and now demanded that I dont pay for 2 months which he tells me he cant do because I was given a loaner. Im only asking for 2 months to be waived as I didnt get the car Im paying for and to be compensated for all the time I wasted plus the frustration I had to put up with. I have 2 Lexus at the moment and there will be no more Lexus for me the way its going.

I spoke to Appointment agent to set up appt for my car to be seen both for brakes repair and review of rusting on all 4 door handles. Firstly, the agent suggested that he had never heard of such an issue (odd since he has so many 2009 Lexus models on his lot!). Not only was my rusting concern misdirected to an alternative department, my request for vehicle repair suggested I would have to wait in the dealership for hours rather than shuttled home to work and return to pick my car up (because I was out of shuttle territory)! This dealership is the closest one to me in Whitby. This experience and the lack of genuine service from the Lexus Dealership confirms, I love the car but will never buy or promote the brand based on my poor experience. Thank you, Don Valley Lexus - Customer Service is definitely lacking. The vehicle was not purchased from you - but you cost the brand a very valuable client for servicing and future vehicle purchases!

I purchased an alleged 2016 lexus gs-350 from lexus of riverside on 4/29/2016. I reported a navigation defect to them in less than two weeks. They did nothing for 6 1/2 weeks and finally sent a dealership car and service tech. We drove both my car and dealership car. In go home mode it took us in a round-about manner to a dead end road in a different zip code. Both my car and dealership car failed and went to dead end road but I took my garmin gps in dealer car and it worked perfectly. The dealership refused to do anything and referred this problem to their lexus/toyota headquarters in Torrance, ca. The clerk at the headquarters said we would be put in a queue which would take 4 weeks.I spent hours researching, driving, photographing, documenting and sending over 30 emails to them but just got a letter giving me an assignment to send them documents they already had. I also called their 800# - useless. You get some clerk who only gives a first name and never gives you a case number. I have 1 week left for the 4-week queue, so will probably have to sue them since there is no available for this serious problem and they just delay hoping you go away.Next I photographed the navigation screen which shows that the navigation micro sd card is dated 8/1/2015 (gen 8) which according to their published literature is only for a 2015 gs-350. At this writing, the card will be 1 year old in 2 weeks and the service manager told me they usually come out around October for about $169. So either lexus sold me a 2015 and changed the date to 2016 or they are using old parts. I had leased 4 lexus ls series before - 1990, 1995, 1999 & 2004. The 2004 was terrible and constantly needed repairs. So I left lexus. But I read the glowing reports by consumer reports and tried the 2016 gs-350 due to its alleged safety features - big mistake.

Lexus cars are comfortable. I like the features and the easy accessibility of the car. The leather seats are easy to clean which makes my job a lot easier. The butt warmers are nice and help to keep us all warm during the winter months of the years. Our model specifically can only hold up to five people. However I believe that Lexus makes other models that can hold more people than that. This car suits my family well as there are five of us and we are all able to fit comfortably in the car. The car has a small built and our model is black and sleek. The paint has stayed nice and sharp throughout the course of many years and I believe that it will continue to do so over the next couple until we decide to go to either donate the car or purchase a new one. We are interested in a car with seats that are not leather as the smell bothers my family and the seats always seem to be super hot or cold.

I have a 10-year-old 2002 RX 300. The 3-button key casing broke and I need a replacement. I called the Englewood, NJ Lexus dealer and the Parts Dept. said I must come down with proof of ID and ownership (which is perfectly acceptable) and the Master Key, plus it takes 2 days to get the key and costs $260. If I dont have the Master Key, then there is no replacement! This is utterly wrong on several levels, but the main complaint is that, $260 for a key with a simple electronic code seems over-the-top for people who desperately need a key for their car. I own a Lexus 2006 and a year ago I started noticing hairline cracks on the dashboard. I spoke with a Lexus representative and he said that Lexus is aware that it is a manufacture defect and I should take it to the dealer and they should replace it. I took it in to North Miami Lexus dealer. The guy took pictures and said that he submitted the claim. I followed up with him since he never called me back to follow up. After 5 weeks he said that Lexus will replace it but I will have to pay $1000. He also said that I can call Lexus customer service if I am not happy. I did call them and followed up with Customer Service manager, Michael, was told that since the car is outside of warranty (however, very low mileage and they recognize that, could have been covered under that) they can only extend the dealers offer and that is very fair. They never looked at the pictures since the dealer didnt upload them and apparently someone in the other department declined for Lexus to take full responsibility for the defect. After searching the issue online, I realize that I am not the only one with the same issue and that different Lexus owners were offered different deals. My belief is that they never even looked into the issue and I was given the generic answer by the customer service management. This is very disappointing and would love to join a class action suit. Lexus is aware of this defect and just getting away with it. The luxury car dealer is washing their hands off. I am not angry but very dissatisfied to look at the car everyday and see the cracks while it is suppose to be a luxury car.

In February of 2012, my Lexus 2006 es330 accelerated with me from 25 miles to approx 75 miles. My car ended up in a ditch that was when it stopped. It was as if the car took a life of its own. It was towed to JM Lexus and I explained to them what happened. They kept the car for about 10 days including work at the body shop which my insurance paid for. I specifically asked on several occasions if they checked the car out for its unintentional acceleration and they told me yes and nothing was found. In June of 2012, the same thing happened. The car went from 25 to 80 miles and even when brake was applied, the car would not stop. At this time, the car was in shambles. The car finally stopped when it hit a light post. The car was written off by my insurance company. I called Lexus Corporation and they wrote me back a letter which insulted my intelligence. This has left me with post traumatic syndrome shoulder pain, knee pain and fear of driving. It affected my livelihood as Im a home health medicare nurse. They kept telling me to bring in the car. I live 2 hrs away from dealer I bought from. However each time I brought in car something else always goes wrong after they tell me everything is ok. I have been dealing with this lemon for a yr and several months now and still help in getting my entire money back that I paid for. I also got a list of all the repairs that was done prior to buying. They should not have sold this vehicle or put it on sale. They were taking parts from other cars and putting it on mine to check what was wrong. I also paid almost $2200 on warranties and other things which they claimed I will not get back. All I wanted was a car without any problems and did not mind paying for the extra warranties. If the car was sold as a lemon and they knew there were problems with the car, then you should refund everything including the warranties bought. I am going through Kealanda customer care who agreed to refund the purchase price but refused to refund the $2200 in extra things I bought. Trip charges I understand also, but all the trips were made to the dealership, over and over again. I was given the runaround since day one and lied to. This was my first luxury car and we did not feel safe in this car. It has stayed in 1 spot for the entire time since we noticed all these serious issues. We went on 1 small trip which we had problems with the head lights not working so we came back. Windshield wipers not coming on automatically when raining, Lexus Enform, etc... Dealerships and Lexus should be accountable for misleading and selling us a car they knew was defective. I want justice and a full refund including all the extras I bought with the financing department.

I have a 2005 ES330 car that is certified pre-owned. It has defective back windows that wont go up or down. Its CD player is broken. Theres condensation in headlights. I have had the back windows repaired 3 times. On the 4th visit, they finally replaced the motors, which corrected the problem. I had wasted 3 trips to Lexus, time off from work and finally the issue is resolved. However, now the tint has come off of the back right window. It is apparent, the trouble with the windows being taken out and repaired 4 times has caused this. The CD player has been in for repair also, along with the windows. The CD player is broken, the cover wont open, and will not play. I have been informed by the Lexus Corp. that due to the car being out of warranty, they will not repair it. My argument is the car has been in the service department for the same repairs 3 times, which has never been property fixed. After reading these reviews, I dont think I will ever buy a Lexus again. They have become the Ford of the Japaneese. The dealership, Lexus of Tampa Bay, is a joke. The main headquarters for Lexus is a joke. They both refer me to the other one. I am done. No more Lexus cars. My dream car, that I am still paying for, wont allow me to listen to my CDs. I cant see out of the back right window, and I have been made to feel like I am the scum of the earth by Lexus. Why didnt you treat me this way when I was buying one? I just got two letters from Lexus of Tampa Bay asking me to trade mine in and get a newer one.No thanks, I got suckered by the hype the first time, are they kidding? What a Lousy Lexus Experience!

I have a very critical problem! Im on oxygen 24 hours a day. I rent the Invacare Solar II portable oxygen machine because I can re-charge it in the car by plugging into the car cigarette lighter. I had a life threatening experience while on a trip to Connecticut. I had the Invacare plugged into the cigarette lighter and the end melted and couldnt be used at all. I was stuck on the highway with no oxygen. I have taken the car to the dealership several times and they keep changing the fuse but were not able to fix the problem. The Invacare Solar II is designed to be re-charged from the cigarette lighter.

This has been the worst car I have ever purchased. When I first got it, the rear view mirror started turning dark and the stuff inside started turning black and now its horrible. Years later, the Dashboard and the door panels started getting sticky and anytime you touched them they got black stuff on your finger and would scratch the panels. The dash is so shiny that when you drive in the day you cant even see out the window because of the glare. Now the navigation system doesnt work and it operates the ac, radio, navigation and everything else about the car. I took it to the dealership and they wouldnt touch the nag because the dashboard would fall apart and they dont want to be responsible. They said this happens to everyone that comes in. I called lexus and they cant do anything for me because there hasnt been any complaints filed (what the rep tells me) yet all over the internet thats all you read. Its a shame, my wife want to trade her car in for a new lexus, but there is no way, especially when they wont even help us.

2007 Lexus RX350 - I had to replace rack and pinion steering column due to a leak at 74k miles. I had to replace 2 coils in 2 of the cylinders, one at 62K and 77K miles. In a year, I have had to put over $2,200 in this supposedly reliable car. The car has lots of road noise. I was thinking it was the tires, but recently drove a 2013 loaner with new tires and the road noise is as bad as in my 2007. Im questioning whether or not it is really the tires at all. I looked at 3 Toyota SUVs and they all had awful road noise and thought that stepping up would be different. I cant wait to get rid of this car and will never get a Toyota or Lexus again. I do not know how this car gets the number 1 luxury mid-SUV ratings.

I have never had any problems with my Lexus. Aside from changing the tires, it has been a very reliable car. I have ALWAYS kept my car in my garage. About 2 years ago, the dash starting showing strange signs of razor-like slashes running throughout the dashboard. I had been going through many changes at that time, and did not bring it to the dealership when it first started occurring. Now, I have moved and the razor-like slashes have turned into the dash literally crumbling off!!!!! I brought my car to the dealership in Metairie, Louisiana and was told there that this was not considered a defect and it would cost me $2000 to repair. I called Lexus Corporate and spoke to a man named Ed on extension ** and he basically told me the same thing. Out of warranty, car too old, not a defect, sorry cant help you. I am so upset about this because I have always bragged about the fact that Lexus was the best car I have ever owned. I know people who have cars older than mine and dont have this problem. Has this happened to anyone out there? Were you able to get it fixed by Lexus? Help!!

I have a 2008 Lexus is250, Im original owner - 36,000 miles on car & Navigation System stopped working? I have not been to the dealership yet because I wanted to do my research before talking with them. This has been talked about & an issue since 2010! Why has there been no recall? I found out that all dealerships can do a certain amount of free repairs at their discretion! With the low miles, the fact that its a known problem & I cant control my heater or air conditioner without it, making it hazardous if I need immediate window defrosting & that I will take all my info in front of a judge, hopefully they do us both a favor & just fix it for free! Has anyone else taken Lexus to small claims court? I guess I may be the first??? I can print out at least 500 complaints about issues with the Navigation System failing!!! Why hasnt Lexus done anything about this??? Theres a FB page dedicated to Why hasnt Lexus recalled their Nav System yet!!! Ill update as I move along in this process.

Exploding glass moonroofs. If you are investigating the purchase of a Lexus with a glass moonroof...beware. They have a tendency to explode for no reason. I was on a desert highway with no vehicles in front of me and all of a sudden my sunroof/moonroof exploded. It sounded like a gun going off over my head and it nearly caused me to wreck it had shocked me so much. I did a little research and apparently this issue is an ongoing one with many other drivers reporting the exact circumstance. The Lexus corporate folks are very, very rude about this and will not help you or offer to pay for what is obviously a manufacturer defect.Very sad to see they will not stand by their product. I will be seeking legal remedy but in the meanwhile, if you must buy a Lexus, stay away from the cars with the glass moonroofs. You could be driving and not only have a sudden shock that can scare the life out of you but if your interior moonroof shade is also open at the same time, you could get badly injured by the falling broken glass shards. Very dangerous.

Given the need and or opportunity we would return to the same place in the future and see about buying an auto from the same place once again. We were also quite happy with the upgrade and personalized options that were offered. We like to get the maximum upgrades that are available because we like our car to reflect our personality and shed a light on our unique and affluent lifestyle. Also, we are happy with the passenger capacity. We are a family of four and it accommodates us very nicely. There is also adequate room to accommodate two other passengers, although, we rarely need the additional space.

Bought a RX350 (2008) Certified Preowned Lexus in 2009 from PARK PLACE LEXUS OF PLANO, TX. In 2013, I noticed a crack in the dashboard by the driver’s side vent. Called PARK PLACE LEXUS OF PLANO, TX and was told cracks in the dashboard are not under warranty and it may have been caused by what I was using to clean the dashboard. After arguing with the service guy he went to the service manager and they agreed to repair it and they did.Now in 2018, I have two cracks in the dashboard by the passenger air vent. Researched on the internet to see if other Lexus owners had similar issues. To my surprise many owners have this issue and Lexus had offered to replace the entire dashboard if you have cracks or melting of the dashboard. The dealership told me I needed to call corporate to obtain approval for the dashboard replacement. I called corporate office and they did not show the cracked dashboard had been previously repaired and the offer to replace the defective dashboard had expired in October 2017. I asked if they could repair just the cracks like last time and was told that decision is up to the dealership.I called PARK PLACE LEXUS OF PLANO, TX to see if I could still get the dashboard replaced or repaired. Their system showed the crack in the dashboard was repaired in October 2009. The dealership did not correspond to corporate of my previous repair which I have documentation and receipt. After speaking to the service representative and service manager they will not replace the dashboard since it is up to corporate to approve and will not repair the cracks because one of the cracks is in front of the airbag.Bottom line to replace the defective dashboard I will have to pay approximately ~$2,000. I bought a Lexus based on the reputation of a quality vehicle. Had I known it was so cheap that the dashboard would need to be totally replaced in less than 10 years my decision would have been different. I understand vehicle parts wear out and need to be replaced but not a dashboard. This car is always garaged at home and at work and only has 76k miles. A dashboard should not have cracks on a vehicle this soon and definitely not on any quality luxury car. Based on this experience I would strongly recommend others to stay away of a LEXUS and PARK PLACE LEXUS OF PLANO.

Sewell sent roadside service and replaced the battery. All was good until April 2015. Same problem, dead battery. They checked it out and said everything was good. In April 2015 same problem. They have checked it out. Cannot find problem. Said we dont drive it enough. If so, how did we drive it for over one year with no problems. Anyone else have same problem?

I bought this Lexus 2.5 years ago. About a year in and about 95,000 miles once or twice it ran rough at a stop sign for about 3 seconds and corrected itself (thought it was a bit of bad gas). I looked online and saw a post about this possibly being an issue. I also found in the glove box a page from Lexus saying they will take care of this even though it is not a recall. So, I took it to Sacramento Lexus. They said they would validate the issue, order parts, and give me a loaner vehicle. Well, they sure did. They took care of it completely! Obviously out of warranty and fully covered. They even offered to do any other repairs they find while doing the repair at the cost of the part cost only. I was truly amazed at the depth they would take care of a used vehicle not bought from that dealer, out of warranty, and the issue almost never happened that I was aware of. Above and beyond to say the least. Very impressed with Lexus and that dealer.

Over 6 months ago I got into an auto accident. My car damages included: my wheel hanging off, my door crunched in unable to close, my glove box smashed and completely crushed, etc. During this collision, NONE of my airbags went off, which angered me because I had an 11-year-old and 13-year-old in the car that were not protected. After doing some research in my car, I found out that I had EIGHT airbags in just the front seat of my car. An impact such as this should have caused at least one of the airbags deploying.I contacted Lexus about this when my accident happened (back in August of 2013) and they said they would inspect the car. After they inspected my vehicle they said they would get back to me within a month about the results. I waited a month...then two months and called corporate offices. I was told that someone will get back to me. Three months.. Four months... Five months...SIX months and they have neglected to return any emails of mine or even give me an ounce of respect. My car is over $35,000 and to be treated like this makes me sick!!The damages to my car were over $8,000 including all new module systems in my vehicle because they were found faulty. I have all my receipts about my damages and Lexus refuses to even answer me! When it comes to the safety of my children, I do not allow people to push me to the side. I took my 2011 RX 350 in because I noticed a small bubble in the side of my rear driver’s side tire. The dealer told me it was not covered under the warranty because it was a road hazard. This is nothing but an excuse not to cover it. If it were a road hazard then there would be some kind of mark on the rim and/or the side of the tire, but there is none on either. I feel that this is a defect in the tire and should be covered under the warranty. It probably started out very small and is now about an inch and a half long, from the tread inward. This car only has 7,400 miles on it. This is my second lease of a Lexus. I feel I should be treated better than this and the tire should be replaced.I would like someone to contact me regarding this ASAP. Regards,Steve **

I recently had the experience of being denied repairs of my Lexus (VIN 2T2B
I recently had the experience of being denied repairs of my Lexus (VIN 2T2BK1BA7AC015824). A known problem exists in the steering column of my particular model, a 2010-2011 Lexus RX350. So, this parts failing falls under the following: (1) a known problem by Lexus and (2) a very new car still under warranty. The only caveat to this situation is that I travel for work, and I spend some of my time in Minsk. I have a Lexus sedan here in the United States, and only just recently took the RX 350 to be my car in Minsk. There, I began to discover the steering noise issue. I understand that the standard procedure for Lexus would be to only cover warranty issues within the United States.I personally feel that this is a special case; I will have to have the vehicle repaired in Europe, so I am prepared to pay for the labor through a Lexus dealer, but I strongly feel that the $1700, plus part I had to order to replace an existing flaw in my Lexus, should not be paid by me. As mentioned, I purchased this Lexus in the United States, I still own another Lexus in the United States, and one day, I will return this Lexus to the United States. My request to have this part paid for has been denied. I find this very hard to believe. The trend with many large companies is a disregard towards customer service that will build brand loyalty. I did not think Lexus was one of these companies, and I am deeply disappointed. It has been my understanding that Lexus leads the industry in retaining the highest percentage of vehicle owners. Neal Oddes, director of product research at J.D. Power and Associates said that, By satisfying its customers on many different levels, Lexus consistently enjoys high-retention rates and “customer retention is extremely valuable in the auto industry because it costs manufacturers less to keep existing customers than to attract new ones, and strong retention fosters favorable word of mouth. Why now would Lexus want to risk its word of mouth reputation in my case? I have a friend who has been at war with GM over the poorest of customer relations efforts and vehicle issues; I personally found it comforting in owning a Lexus. I do not have to deal with such customer disregard, and would readily make this known. Now, I no longer have comfort in owning a Lexus. Where is the world class customer service that creates retention? Maybe you should all take a moment and read the following article on customer service. I understand that this issue is falling under what might be considered special circumstances; however, I had believed Lexus would treat me as a loyal customer, not as an invaluable statistic. This is all very unfortunate, and on principle alone, I am not going to stop pursuing a resolve to this situation. I know there has to be someone in the Lexus organization who cares enough to spend $1700 of Lexus money in order to preserve a reputation that has likely taken years and billions of dollars to build.A colleague of mine recently shared a negative experience he had with a large Canadian airline. He had purchased a ticket to return home last year for the Christmas holiday but was unable to do so because of medical reasons. It was his understanding that the value of the ticket would be honored for one year from the scheduled date of travel. However, the airlines policy was actually to credit the value of the ticket for one year from the purchase date. This information wasnt printed on his ticket, and when he contacted the airline, he spoke with four members of its customer service department, including a senior manager, and received four different explanations of the airlines policy and his possible remedies.During a time following the horrific events of September 2001, my colleague thought this airline, now more than ever (especially after requesting government relief due to lost revenue), would bend over backward to satisfy him, and keep him as a regular customer. Airlines were slashing fares as much as 50 percent to entice fearful passengers to once again take to the skies. He was utterly shocked and appalled. However, he experienced the lengths to which this airline went in the opposite direction. Each of the four representatives gave four greatly varied definitions of the airlines refund and rescheduling policy. Each apologized for his inconvenience yet repeatedly told him what they could not - and would not - do for him. In the short term, the immediate savings by the airline were $400, the value of the unused ticket. The net loss over the long term, however, will be much, much greater. Not only will he and his family never use this airline (they spend about $3,000 annually) they are so furious that theyve told many friends about this experience. Not surprisingly, everyone theyve told has been shocked and appalled, also, saying they, too, will never fly with this carrier in the future.Understanding that the customer is the source of a companys revenue, it logically follows that every customer must be made as happy as possible, especially so during an industry-wide crisis of historic magnitude. Seeing as its not the owner of a company that routinely interacts with customers, but rather the sales staff, operators, customer service representatives and et cetera have direct contact. It must be a clearly understood rule that the customer must always feel right. The customer has to be treated in a way that sets a company apart from competitors. If a company successfully merges this philosophy with a superior product or service, it can earn customer loyalty and in turn, become profitable. Case in point: Nordstrom. A Nordstrom customers experience provides a perfect counter to the aforementioned airlines woeful customer service practices. For years, the story has circulated about a man who had returned tires to a Nordstrom store, and it provides an excellent example of how to exercise a customer-first approach to business. The story is true. Nordstrom built a store in Alaska at a location that had previously included a tire store. A man, failing to realize the tire store no longer existed, brought car tires into Nordstrom, and asked for a refund. Despite the companys position as a clothier (seemingly everyone knows the only rubber Nordstroms sells is on the bottom of sneakers), the sales associate nonetheless issued some type of refund or store credit, thus satisfying the customer. When people talk about this story, many cant remember if it was a man or a woman, a young or old person, but they always remember that it was Nordstrom who put its customer first.Although this example is extreme, and I dont suggest that a company make a habit of issuing refunds, for merchandise it doesnt sell, the underlying principle stands: For long-term prosperity and patron loyalty, a customer must always feel right, even when shes wrong. Even if a company such as the airline in question doesnt want to adhere to this same level of customer service, or more likely, doesnt believe it can afford to, the only question I would ask its top brass is, Can you afford not to? Word of mouth is by far the single most important marketing vehicle a company can hope for. Think of what the word of the mouth may do for this airlines long-term outlook. Not only has the airline lost loyal customers and likely many more once this story spreads, but more importantly, the employees who initially offered the incorrect information to a loyal customer and then blamed the customer himself for acting on the information he received, are still employed. How much more inaccurate information these employees are going to disperse, and what will be the resulting net loss?Follow Nordstroms lead, not the woeful path cut by the airline. Before the next customer crisis arises at your company, I urge you to ask yourself the following questions, so you are prepared to handle the situation appropriately: How does your company resolve customer disputes, concerns, questions or problems? Do your people automatically go on the defensive, citing policies, procedures and counting warranty periods to the day? Is there a mission statement or customer policy in place that governs all aspects of customer service, including conflict resolution? You cant put the onus on your customers to get it right every time. Too many companies focus on the reasons why they cant help a customer, rather than offering solutions to help fix his problem. The reality is, problems will arise. The problems are not the challenge. The challenge is responding to these problems effectively; these responses help determine a companys ultimate success or failure.

I call Lexus, the lady who has my case said to me that because you using this car as a limousine that is why we decline your warranty. I told the lady that this car and also previous car I was using was limousine and dealer knows because they get me the limousine plate number. Then she said call your insurance. They will cover your car. I call insurance company, they said we only cover body damage, not mechanical problem, then I call Lexus lady again now she said we decline your warranty because you got bed gas, now you go to gas station and sue them, we are not fixing your car.You know why she said that, because they fixed my front end and change one of front air shock and Actuators absorb that is why she cannot denied anymore about warranty. Now I am in problem calling Lexus but not getting any response from them. Please, I request consumer affairs and Lexus head office to take some action, this is very expensive car I bought over $90,000.00 including tax and finance. Thanks.

I have a Lexus GS and noticed the roof molding peeling. I Google and discover it was a common problem. My windows and door locks stopped working. For a luxury car I expected much better reliability. I have 3 Toyota cars and only my older ones were OK. I have switched to Honda now and been very happy. They repaired the paint and windshield visor on my 2008 Civic which is 7 years old under warranty. At least Honda takes pride and responsibility for their cars. I now only buy Honda.

Bought new RX350 from Lexus of Austin. DPS trooper pulled my wife over to let her know the bumper was coming off. Dealer accused us of wrecking the car. We did not wreck the car. Not according to my insurance company or the Trooper that pulled her over. They finally agreed to fix the car and screwed that up. Never buy from this dealer.

For two generations, our family has been very loyal by purchasing Toyota cars to drive. For the last 40 years, our family has purchased and driven at least 25 Toyota cars. But we were disappointed with our brand new 2007 Lexus ES350. On December 27th, 2012, I read the article on Yahoo news about the Toyota Motors agreement for settlement of Unintended Acceleration. Well, I owned this 2007 Lexus ES350 and experienced that sudden acceleration problem when the car was set on cruise control driving on the freeway. Therefore, I submitted a written letter by email to Toyota Motors explaining my findings. The reasons for selling this car are because (1) I never heard any reply back from Toyota Motors after submitting a letter to customer service. (2) my wife and family members in Asia was afraid of us driving it in the United States with an accident. Furthermore, they live very far away to come to our immediate attention if we were involved in an accident. (3) Lastly, there were sad news happening here and there because of this sudden acceleration issue. Finally, I sold the car to CarMax dealership in Monrovia, California in March of 2011 with less than 7,000 miles on the odometer. At first, I even went to Longo Lexus/ Toyota (which is the largest Toyota dealership in the United States) to sell the car back, but they explained that there is no recall on my car. The Longo Lexus service foreman even went on a test drive with me in my car and on the street. Also, Longo Lexus/ Toyota refused to give me a reasonable offer to buy my car back. I paid $40,000 brand new and sold the car at a big loss for only $24,000 to CarMax with less than 7,000 miles on the odometer because we were afraid to drive the car.Continuously, our friends and family comfort me that life is more valuable than losing money on a known trouble car. How come Toyota never bothered to help when we have an issue? What happened to good old Toyota reputation? Kindly help me in this matter!

My 2007 Lexus 350 right front headlight has had condensation since the time
My 2007 Lexus 350 right front headlight has had condensation since the time I purchased the vehicle for my wife in November. I am a used car dealer and have always had a preference for the Lexus line due to the quality and customer service. When I contacted our local Lexus dealer (Mcdermott, where I service my Lexus inventory and my personal es330) they indicated that the warranty had just expired in November but they felt Lexus would give me some compensation, if not honor the warranty. After I had the car inspected I was contacted by Lexus and they said, quite frankly, they denied the claim and that was it!! Do not bother to discuss the matter further, that was it. Now I am faced with a bill of $700+ for a problem that Lexus has acknowledged. Is this any way to be treated by a customer and a dealership which specialized in Lexus line?

I have a 2007 GX470 around 55000 thousand miles and park inside garage most of the time. I notice lil small crack around my cluster/meter for months now and I figure oh its just a small crack and then one day I notice a long crack running from left to right about 2 ft long. I call Lexus and they told me bring it in and they take pictures and turn out my extended warranty not cover. WTH and they had the nerve to charge me around $1200 and they ask can I afford to paid $500+. I told them I cant afford to paid anything. It suppose to be cover and they even said that they have customer with same problem. They will contact me 3-4 weeks and let me know how much it cost. Makes me dont want to buy any kind of Lexus car ever. Im disgusted.

If you have a family of 4-5 of average size could fit comfortably in the LS 460. Great for travel and plenty of wiggle room. A huge trunk that could hold 2 adult bodies... just to give an idea of the trunk size! Totally amazing rear seat entertainment system. With dual screening so awesome! State of the art technology. Mesh grills and spoilers are really nice if you have the budget for it.

We currently have a Lexus RX350 F-Sport and just had to use roadside assistance yesterday. Not only did my husbands vehicle just die and leaving him stranded on the side of the road, but when the roadside assistance came to help. They ended up towing his vehicle to a dealership and the closest one to us is 2 hours away. So it is not fixed and we are having issue with them getting it back to us. Mind you we have no loaner car or anything, so how is he suppose to get his car that is 2 hours away?? We called Lexus customer service multiple times today and can’t get anywhere. They should have told us if it was towed to the dealership that they wouldn’t bring it back, you would think after you pay all this money on a new vehicle that we have had for 1 year and is under warranty that there would be something in place for this situation instead everyone is clueless.I have a Cadillac and was looking to get a new car next month and thought about getting a Lexus, but let me tell you I will hands down stay with Cadillac just because of the outstanding customer service I get. I tried telling my husband to go with Cadillac, but he thought surely Lexus IS suppose to be a luxury vehicle so will have their crap together and he was wrong. We are turning this car in as soon as we can and going with a car company that cares about their customers!

My model is a 6 passenger compact SUV. It has great storage or back seat for groceries and I can fit 5 very comfortably and 6 if need be. There were a couple of models in this style with many different colors and amenities you can choose from or upgrade to. Also they have options for wonderful upgrades and even options if you just want certain things added. Some they had to order but it only takes a couple of days for delivery of the items or car thats chosen. I was able to choose what was available or tell them what I liked and they would find the one with the features I wanted. I love my vehicle because its not huge but can fit things like it is.

I like the different styles and colors of Lexus, but I prefer BMWs, very unique. Many brands copy them. I hope that they, Lexus, improve on their designs. But I like how they last pretty long. My only complaint is that it runs out of battery fast. Sometimes my car dies out, but it may be due to old car issues. Also, theres not many upgrade options with Lexus. Youd have to go to other shops because Lexus is way too overpriced. Not a big fan, sorry Lexus. I also wish I could fit more but more means more money :( I hope they can fix this. I hope that they dont change anything like metals, engine, etc. Like downgrading.

I just recently purchased a Certified Pre-Owned 2012 Lexus RX350 with only 13,000 miles on it from Lexus of Monterey, California. As soon as I took it on the highway at over 60 miles per hour, there is a loud wind noise. It sounds like the passenger window is open, even though it is not. I have taken it back to the dealership 2 times, and they just tell me there is nothing wrong with the windows or the seal. They say the RX 350 is an SUV and just louder than a sedan, and to just get used to it. This is such an illogical argument. I have owned 3 different SUVs in over 30 years, and have never heard wind noise like this. I went online and there are hundreds of the exact same complaint about the wind noise in the Lexus RX350. Yes, I agree, as others have said on this site, there needs to be class action suits brought against Lexus. This is ridiculous to pay this kind of money for a supposedly luxury car and have a loud wind noise issue. And from what I have read on this Consumer Affairs site, there are many more serious negative issues with the RX as well. I am trying to get my money back and will not buy another Lexus.

Hello. This Vehicle is great but easy to steal for thief. After I purchased I heard, from the other Rx350 owners and insurance broker too that this model is been easy to steal. Now recently someone steal my Rx350 2016 from My driveway and I reported to police and they recover too on same day. But all key system and other things are damage. What should I do in this case? Should I take this vehicle back, which I am not comfortable to take this vehicle? And Constable told me that Lexus dont have vehicle tracing device in uptown 2019 Rx350. But Why Rx350 is easy for thief to steal that car. Why Lexus dont have proper lock system. This is not acceptable and I will not suggest to buy Lexus anymore. I think we should look for another Brand.

I recently made a purchase of a 2008 RX350, from Meade Lexus of Lakeside. I decided to go with the Lexus, with the hopes of landing a depending vehicle from a company that cared about their customers well being and to make future purchases. Received the vehicle in Aug. and within 30 days needed a new battery, which is not the end of the world, although unexpected. This weekend however, I took my 11 year old son to Chicago for his birthday and the vehicle started smoking and stalled on me on the 94 E expressway. I had the vehicle towed to a repair shop only to be told that the vehicle that I purchased 7 months prior, needs a new engine!! I tried to contact the dealership as well as had the vehicle taken to another repair shop for a second opinion, after the second shop, gave me the same results. I can not believe that this dealership is selling unsafe vehicles to the public. I did all of my research prior to this purchase for this to happen to me. I too, cannot believe that I am making a complaint about a brand that I put so much trust into. My next step is to contact the attorney general office about this situation.

We just leased RX 350. We spoke to the dealer for a long time and agreed on payment $336.00. Then we waited for 3 1/2 hours. I was getting many phone calls from work while waiting for the paperwork to be completed. Finally, I signed the deal but did not have the chance to see the car (in spite of waiting for 3 1/2 hours.) My wife spent additional hour signing. When we came home and starting reading the fine print the payment was $385.00. Also, I did not like to color of the seats. We tried to return the car but the manager refused and told us to find a lawyer. Great!

I am the owner of my third Lexus ES 350. I anticipated buying my fourth in the next couple of years. I have purchased a Lexus almost exclusively because of its reputation for quality. As I am often in my car alone, the idea of having a car that will not leave me stranded by the side of the road is paramount. I noticed initially, however, with my most recent car purchased new, the 2014 model, that it was not as quiet as my first Lexus.I let that past not attributing it to a decline in overall quality. However, I was wholly unprepared for the wholesale failure without warning of my transmission after only 74,000 miles leaving me stranded on the side of the road. I was lucky to make it to a surface street as the failure occurred on the highway. This was a car, as was the case with each of my prior purchases, that had each and every service recommended, all done by a Lexus dealer. However, I could have saved myself a tremendous amount of money, both in terms of initial outlay and maintenance cost, with a much cheaper car and received the same result. This is my LAST Lexus and last Toyota made car.

They had various models that I was interested in with various trim level for each model. They could have more models, but what they had was adequate, even if it wasnt huge. Their cars are high quality and the prices are reasonable. They use high quality parts in their car, and their cars are very reliable, i.e. good value for the price paid. There arent many upgrade options and personalization available. They only have a few trim level that you can choose from which bundles in the various options. I would prefer more ala carte selection so that I can choose only the options that I want and not have to pay for some options that I dont really want. The model I was interested in all seats 5 passengers comfortable. There was plenty of interior room as well as cargo space to carry both people and stuff. It could be tight if all passengers are large.
