Ken Block Shows What The Hyundai i20 WRC Rally Car Can Do
Posted On: November 7, 2022

It's no secret that Ken Block loves a bit of speed. Whether he's piloting his incredible Audi S1 Hoonitron or ascending the treacherous Tianmen Mountain road in a 900-horsepower truck, the master driver is at his happiest when behind the wheel of a car.

In his latest video following Electrikhana, Block visits the Hoonigan Tire Slayer Studios with his Hyundai i20 WRC rally car and sets about obliterating the rear tires with a series of torturous wheelspins, donuts, and dramatic slides. At the 16-minute mark, the Korean hatchback can be seen strutting its stuff.

rnThe acclaimed wheelman launches the Korean hatch with gusto, sending it off in a cloud of tire smoke and noise. The agile i20 is maneuvered around two barrels with ease. Mere inches separate the rear end from the boundary wall, emphasizing Block's exceptional car control. Of course, these backyard antics are nothing compared to what Block and his competition-ready i20 go through on a regular basis. The Hyundai, once a pukka World Rally Championship racer, now accompanies its owner on the ARA (American Rally Association) rally series.

Things seemed to be going well for the professional driver, who notes he competed in eight of the nine available events. Remarkably, Block won four of these races but, unfortunately, suffered some bad luck. "There were actually two events where I was leading [...], and I actually lost it. One by hitting a deer," laments the 54-year-old.

It may be based on a humdrum hatchback, but this i20 packs a serious punch and will easily beat an Elantra N into submission. Block explains that his ex-WRC Hyundai is the previous generation of rally cars and doesn't feature the hybrid setup that is employed by the current crop. It's far from outdated, though, and boasts a flotilla of aerodynamic and safety accouterments.

Block adores his i20 and notes that it instills a high level of confidence in him. "We did a lot of tests [and] changes to the car - made it work for me. Then I just got to drive it flat out for the rest of the year with confidence. That's the big difference. I want to go fast and take big risks, but you can't do that if you're not confident in what is underneath you."rnThat's clear to see that Block's confidence in this car is supreme in the way he pulls off daring moves, both in the parking lot and the cramped workshop, with no remorse for tires. Hopefully, he can take that confidence to his next competitive rally.

I leased my 2015 Sonata Sport in Feb of 2016. It had been a service loaner and had almost 5000 miles on it at delivery. After about six months in Aug of 2016 my car would not start and I had to call Hyundai Roadside to jump it. I brought it into the dealer the following week. They tested the battery, said nothing was wrong, and suggested I did something to cause the battery drain. Well, I continued to have the problem and brought the car back to the dealer in Nov of 2016. This time they said the battery was bad and replaced it. Even after replacing the battery, I continued to have the problem and brought the car back to the dealer in Jan of 2017. This time they blamed the problem on the Allstate insurance device I have plugged into the car and they said the battery was bad too. So they replaced the battery for the second time and I had the Allstate device replaced.I continued to have the same problems. I brought the car back to the dealer the following month and they said they could not replicate the issue and found nothing. It seems that my vehicle battery dies when I dont use the vehicle for a period of time – often 1.5 - 2 days, but it has died from sitting unused in as little as 22 hours. Since I continue to have this issue without any real help from the dealer, I contacted Hyundai consumer affairs in April of 2017 and they have been slow to take any action. I did not receive any actionable info from them until 2 weeks after I first called... They called the dealer I had been working with and the dealer told them they thought the issue was the insurance device (even though they found no problems the last time I had the vehicle there, with the device plugged in).So my Hyundai case manager told me they could not do anything until the insurance device was ruled out as a cause. I removed the device and purposefully did not drive the vehicle for a full day and surprise, the car was dead. So I called my case manager at Hyundai and told her what happened and that the device could be ruled out. Now she is checking to see if or when (her words) a Hyundai specialist can look at the car. Hopefully, it wont take another two weeks to find that out. It seems Im not the only person with this issue as a couple other reviews very recently indicate the same problem on the same year/make/model and with even the same time frame the problem began! I guess its time for me to find a lawyer too.

I have never, in my life, been treated so rudely. Their customer service rep hung up on me. I thought she had all the information that she needed and gone to find out. The next day when I was expecting my paperwork to be where it was supposed to, it was not. So when I called back the next day, upset that my paperwork had not been transferred, the rep on the phone was once again rude. The rep promised my paperwork would be there in 1-2 hours, and it was never done on time. Not only is this now costing me money, but I was treated horribly as well. And with an interest payment of 20% on a car, they should invest money in training their reps.

I have a Hyundai i20 Sportz CRDI 2011 model. I just met an accident. I hit a post and my car flew for about 15 meters and landed in a pit. My car landed on its radiator, but the airbag didnt open. When I asked the dealer, he said that the impact was not on the sensing limit of the sensor. Please, tell me the sensing limit of the airbag. What should I do?

We purchased a 2014 Hyundai I40 from the main dealership in Stratford-upon-Avon. We were contacted to notify is the vehicle of been through the workshop and was ready for collection. Within an hour I realised the clutch was faulty as it had to be pushed to the floor before you could select a gear. I returned it to the garage within an hour. The head of sales said yes, there is a fault on the clutches. We can do a temporary fix until Hyundai release the relevant parts to rectify the fault. What beats me why sell a car, knowing it has a defective clutch. I know I can return the car and get my money back but I have been assured by Hyundai UK. The clutch will be rectified by the middle of June. According to the dealership, there are hundreds of I40s out there with defective clutches. So if you have a problem take it back and demanded it is fixed.

I am pleased to inform I am a principal. I am Bharathiraja, **. I purchased a new i10 Era on 31.12.2013 at Pudukkottai Arasu Hyundai. Within two weeks, my car battery problem. I checked in a private battery center, they certified that cell weak, so replace the battery. I informed to service center. They said battery is ok but I am not satisfied. Replace and give new battery. But they did not change, they gave old battery again. I tested again, the same problem appeared. This is not good manner to treat a customer. I feel that I would have gone for some other car company. Please take necessary steps to solve my problem.

Terrible finance dept. This company can ruin your credit if you dont watch out when you trade your car in for a new one. They do not not close out old car and they ruin your credit. Even tho it is always paid on time they forgot to close old car out and they sent me to the credit bureau as bad debt actually 60 to 90 days late and I no longer have that car. They do not want to fix it. The burden is on you to fix it. This is a total disgrace that a company can ruin your credit when you have always paid on time.

I love my Hyundai Tucson. I love the performance and durability. It is a 2016, and I love all of the added features. Since I am 75 years old I particularly like the warning when I want to change lanes, that there is another car beside me. I also like the backup screen especially at night, and a warning if a car or person is coming behind me.

HYUNDAI CANADA WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR VEHICLES. Back in November of 20
HYUNDAI CANADA WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR VEHICLES. Back in November of 2012 I wrote Steve Kelleher a letter stating my sheer dissatisfaction with the water problems I was experiencing with my 2010 Genesis Coupe. These problems became apparent in October 2009, less than 6 months from when I purchased it brand new in May of 2009. I have a multitude of work orders showing evidence of this water leak as well as my diligence in trying to address these issues. To date the sunroof is still leaking and soaking the back interior of my car. HYUNDAI CANADA is refusing to address this leak as the car is now out of warranty. In my letter to Mr. Kelleher I stated the following as well as sending him proof of the work orders: Water running down the back speakers after rain. Leaks soaking the trunk as well as interior back panel and seat. The radio cuts in and out after heavy rain when the car is cold. The air conditioner and fan randomly turn on when both dials are off. Thick frost accumulates on the insides of the windows when cold. Windows fog up in the rain. The car smells musty. Back tail lights leaking.Since then radio cut out when loading CD player, eating my CD and rendering CD player inoperable. Because of a faulty sunroof mechanism the water leaks have caused staining of the interior liner. The interior liner was totally replaced because of extensive water damage. The seals around the back window were replaced springs popping out of the back seat and the leather seat ripping at seams where water was pooling so the backseat was replaced. The passenger window was lifted and reset because it was an entry point for water. The ABS light remained on and was repaired. The passenger window would not close and sporadically after a rain gets stuck. Tail lights leaking both resealed. LeakPro resealed the car (sunroof, mechanisms, drip tray...etc.). Over 1 of water was recently wet-vacuumed out of the trunk. This car has done nothing but leak and after almost 8 years the water leak has not been resolved. Over the years the dealership has tried to address the problems that the water leak has caused but for whatever reason have not addressed the water leak itself. My car is still getting soaked after it rains. The dealership cannot afford to investigate this leak further and submitted a request to Hyundai Canada which was declined. It is time for Hyundai Canada to step up and back their product and their warranty. Because this has been an ongoing problem that has not been resolved since I purchased the car in 2009, the time sensitivity of the warranty should not be a factor.I am a single mom who has recently been reduced to a 4 day work week. I saved for and purchased this car because of Hyundais extended warranty and their reputation of standing behind their product. This car was not cheap and I expected it to last me a very long time. With water damage this car will rust and cause more electrical problems.

Well, I have now officially scratched Hyundai off my list of car companies I will ever buy from or deal with again. To me, customer service is important and when I find a car company that treats their customers no better than United Airlines I take note and tell others. It all started with a known engine problem with my Hyundai model that was diagnosed at two different repair shops one independent and one Hyundai service dealer. The dealer advised me that even though I recently went out of warranty, it was a commonly known problem and I should contact Hyundai Consumer Affairs at (800) 633-5151 and see if they could help.I then opened a case and a fellow at Hyundai Consumer Affairs named Christen asked me what my desired outcome was. I was being reasonable and said I would at least like them to cover the cost of the faulty part, and he said he would open a case and said it seemed like a reasonable request and would likely get approved. The only stipulation was that I take my car into a Hyundai dealer for the repair work and talk directly with the service manager. Once the work was completed, I was told we could get this resolved with Hyundai within a week to ten days. Two days later I was provided with the repair costs from the dealer along with a message that my case # ** that was created with Hyundai was denied. I was then advised by the dealer to re-contact Hyundai Consumer Affairs at which time I now talked with Zira who informed me that the decision was final and there was no chance for appeal or reconsideration. I was at a dead end with Hyundai. She said if I had a problem I could contact the Better Business Bureau which I most certainly did along with writing about my experience here.At this point, I dont expect Hyundai Consumer Affairs to do what is right after misleading me into one of their service dealers and then leaving me with the full bill payable to Hyundai. I do however want to now share my experiences with other potential car buyers so they know what to expect from Hyundai in the way of customer service moving forward if they ever consider buying a Hyundai now or in the future. After how I was treated by Hyundai Consumer Affairs, I certainly know they will never get any business from myself, my family, and many of the people I know.

On June 13th, I noticed a rattling when I stepped on the gas of my 2008 Hyundai Sonata. By the time I got to my destination, the car was making such a horrible noise; there was no way it could be driven further. I called the Hyundai customer service number to arrange to have the car towed to the dealer and to make sure my warranty would cover the issue. I was assured that I was still covered under the 10 year 10,000 mile warranty. The following morning, the tow truck arrived and took the car to the dealer. Later that day, the dealer called me to inform me that I would need a new engine and that my warranty would not cover it. The engine would be a used one with 71,000 miles on it and would cost $5600 not including labor. Of course, I immediately called Hyundai and was told that I was misinformed the previous day and that I did not have the 100,000 mile warranty because I was the second owner. They assured me that they would cover the tow and the diagnostic charge but they would not cover a new engine. The reason I bought the car and not the Nissan Altima, which is a much nicer vehicle, was for the exceptional Hyundai warranty. I spent the next few hours on the phone with quite a few rude customer service representatives before I reached a supervisor. I stated my issue for the umpteenth time and he once again told me that despite the fact that the car is only four years old, it is not their problem as the warranty is up. So basically, Hyundai is saying that it is acceptable for a four-year old car to have a blown engine and too bad for me. I am a single mother who has recently been unemployed and I am still paying for this car. Suffice it to say that I will never buy another Hyundai again and I will certainly let everyone I know what my experience has been.

I have never been so disappointed in a brand in my life. I will die screami
I have never been so disappointed in a brand in my life. I will die screaming from the rooftop how awful Hyundai has been in regard to this MAJOR recall. The engines was recalled in 2017. I had it check. ONE YEAR later it blew while I was driving it with kids in the car. The only way I could get urgency from anyone at Hyundai was to merge a call with corporate and the dealership together because neither could lie to me at that point.Today 6 weeks later I am attempting to get my claim reimbursement and I just noticed NO ONE contacted me to tell me that there was missing documentation. So I called the claim department. They informed me that not only do I have to submit a receipt for the towing I needed to show a bank statement. Additionally, the documents that the supervisor Kaitlynn told me I was missing was completely different than the documents that Guadalupe (my claim agent) listed on my claim site. So had I not called I would have submitted documents that I didnt need to submit prolonging the entire bunk process set in place. Now the dealership... I picked up my car and left a message on 9/29 asking for a return call. I called again today 10/9 because I had no return call. They listed a oil change sticker on my window for 8500 from the day I picked up my car. When I spoke to someone today they stated oh no. It needs to be 3750 miles and asked if I wanted to make an appointment. MAKE AN APPOINTMENT? I just picked up the car. NO. Nor will I take it back for additional service. This is a disaster and will be the LAST Hyundai I buy. BUYER BEWARE. This is not a good brand that values customer service. This is a cluster of a company that is barely getting by.

This is regarding the E.C.M. in I10 Sportz Kappa 1.2 model 2010 which has just crossed 10800 kms. As you can see it’s been used sparingly. Suddenly it was not starting. I called the Hyundai 24 hrs helpline service. They were not been able to assess the fault. Then I had to tow the vehicle to Hyundai service center paying RS1500 FOR NO FAULT OF MINE. Then I was informed after a day that it has e.c.m. problem and has to be replaced. My regret is that such a high end model has problem in the spare so soon as it has not even been driven 11000 kms and costing me RS35000. Do I have to pay for the faulty spare used by the company. I10 sucks as I have checked other reviews and to my shock, I came to know that they are other people suffering because of this problem. The worst part is that it was serviced just 7 days before the break down and they had charged more than 6500. It’s really sad to know that Hyundai is not able to maintain the quality. And we are the suffers. It’s like an elephant (car) whose maintenance cost of faulty parts (no fault of the customer) is more expensive than the elephant itself (car).

Hyundai is comfortable, has reasonable gas mileage, some luxury with leather seats and sun roof, rear window defroster and wiper, good stereo system, top carrier rack and cup holders in doors. It is also compact enough for one person, yet roomy enough for four people. It gets me anywhere and it has good consumer ratings. However, I wish there were more seat adjustments, air temperature control, heated seat temperature control, side mirror defrosters, different style of rear wiper so it doesnt get taken off in automatic car wash and heating system that doesnt blow warm air when fan is off. It also had some electronic issues early on that were covered under warranty. Rear wiper torn off in car wash twice. Must wash by hand.

Hi, just wanted to share with experience Ive had with Hyundai. I have encountered several issues with my Equus, both with the 2011 and the 2014 models. With the 2011, it was serviced a multitude of times, concluding with the installment of a new compressor. However, the cooling (or lack thereof) issue still remained. When that lease ended, I was assured that the A/C issues with the Equus had been rectified. In good faith, I leased a new 2014 Equus, and much to my dismay, the A/C issues were NOT resolved! So, here I am, AGAIN, in the same exact predicament! Hyundai insists on continuing to deny this problem exists and continues to market inferior products. Any consumer can read the blogs on the internet and clearly see that there is a definite A/C problem with the Hyundai models, including the Equus! Hyundai is lessening their credibility in continuing to deny this issue exists! Hyundai needs to step up to the plate and stop denying that they do not have an A/C problem with this vehicle. They MUST do the right thing. Otherwise, their reputation will be at stake. Recurring customers like me will no longer return, and unfortunately for Hyundai, we will tell others about the poor service and callous treatment we received and of our negative experience.

I am writing to you today regarding my Hyundai Sonata Hybrid that I bought
I am writing to you today regarding my Hyundai Sonata Hybrid that I bought brand new in August 2016. It’s been less than 2 years and we already had to take our vehicle to the mechanic 4 times to the Hyundai maintenance service. After going to Hyundai mechanics numerous times they are still uncertain about the fault in my vehicle. My wife and I have been very disappointed with our first Hyundai Sonata. Numerous times we have gone back to the Hyundai maintenance shop to attempt to have our vehicle fixed, which then follows up with me getting a rental car for the day. The very following next day I have to pick up my car again as the mechanic tells me the issue is resolved but it’s not. I’ve listed the days below for details when my Sonata has malfunctioned.Heading from Santa Clara to San Francisco about 40 miles drive. Was looking for parking and when in the middle of the road my vehicle decided to stop without any warning. It wouldn’t start and we had to wait about 20-25 minutes for my car to start again. We followed up with Hyundai the next day and they said they didn’t find any issues with it. Therefore I wasn’t able to have any record of it in the Hyundai maintenance system. The second time it occurred when my wife and I were heading to Long Beach for our Babymoon. Our issue happened multiples times during our trip. Every time we stopped by at the gas station our vehicle malfunctioned. We had to wait 30 minutes before the car would start again. At that time I felt very unsafe as I had my pregnant wife with me and was hoping the car wouldn’t stop while I was driving. Due to the malfunction, our trip was not only delayed but dangerous for my wife.During this time they had found a fault in the vehicle and had to replace BMS. Invoice number ** on Feb 7th 2018. Our third accident happened after getting my vehicle back from the maintenance, I had to go to SF Airport to pick up my friend and the car stopped again! Replaced OPU, OL Pump Unit. Invoice number ** on Feb 14th 2018. The fourth accident happened when we had an emergency and had to take our dog to the vet for his surgery and after dropping him off my car stopped again! Replaced PRA. Invoice number ** on Feb 20th 2018. Mileage of my Vehicle still under 50,000The Hyundai service center has not been able to find the problem and resolve it even after having numerous types of test. After going to the Hyundai service center numerous times, I have the fear of my vehicle of being very unsafe and I don’t want to take any kind of risk with my family in it. I am afraid that my vehicle will stop at the stop light or worse during the drive. Looking forward to hearing back from you regarding Hyundai Malfunction Issue.

The Hyundai extended warranty is a joke, I purchased one in 2007 with my new Tucson. However, absolutely nothing that has gone wrong on my car was covered. The A/C blower is intermittent. Its connector was not covered because its in the passenger compartment, only $600. The air bag light comes on, turns out the seat belt assembly isnt covered either, another $500. The warranty apparently only covers items that you cant see or touch and items that they cant find a way for you to see or touch. To top it off, there is nothing that tells you exactly what parts are covered. That information is only available at the dealer.

No compensation, wouldn’t give me a rental nor any help from Corporate. They said they will call me back in 10 business days. They leased me a LEMON and left me hanging in every way. I do not recommend Hyundai or any of their parent companies because they don’t care about the consumer whatsoever. Worst experience of my life, never again.

Leased a Hyundai Sonata 2013 and after 3 years, returned the call, and was hit with a disposition fee of $400, plus tax! No one ever told me about it, so I called Hyundai Finance and was told too bad, you must pay today or it will go to a creditor. So I asked for a payment plan and they said no, too bad on you. Now waiting for a manager to call! Never will buy/lease a Hyundai ever again!

My wife brought our 2008 Hyundai Sonata to the dealer for the annual vehicle State inspection on Monday, January 30, 2012. We purchased this vehicle new at this dealer, and it now has only 30,000 miles. The vehicle failed the inspection due to defective brake lining (brake pads) on both the left and right rear brakes. My inspection, the following day, confirmed that indeed the rear brake pads were almost non-existent while the front pads showed hardly any wear.I have owned many cars in my lifetime and put over 100K miles on many. I have only replaced brakes four times in all these years, but I never on a vehicle with only 30,000 miles. Suspecting a manufacturers defect, I searched the internet for other complaints about the Hyundai rear brakes and found numerous forums on the subject, leading me to agree with the conclusions of others that this is a manufacturers defect and a recall should be issued. I found 29 similar complaints on NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation. To my knowledge, Hyundai is ignoring this obvious safety issue as well as the cost to consumers for repairs that should be unnecessary for low-mileage cars such as ours.I am hoping enough pressure can be brought to bear on Hyundai to issue a recall. I have filed a complaint with NHTSA-ODI, contacted our State Attorney Generals Office, and complained to Hyundais consumer support department.

I have recently purchase a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport with 58k miles from a private party due to wanting to avoid financing and dealer fees. Main reason why I went with Hyundai was for their greatly advertise 10 years 100,000 miles warranty. Little that I know when I call Hyundai dealership about the status of my vehicle warranty I was told the warranty is non transferable to a second owner. That really let me down. So be careful buying a Hyundai from a third private party. Warranty does not transfer.

Recently, my brakes began failing on my 50k mile Genesis coupe. The mechanic diagnosed the problem as a HECU failure similar to the basis of a recall on Genesis sedans. There are other similar failures noted on the NTSB website and various websites. I called Hyundai as the problem is a design defect. Their only response was to tell me that they wont do anything because my warranty is up. In the past, a fire hazard in Sonatas that was the subject of a recall was fixed by setting the cars to stop working if there is danger of fire. Hyundai is not a dependable car, or company and puts its drivers at risk.

2008 Hyundai Sonata - Driving to work 2 weeks ago, I noticed the rear end of the car felt strange, some movement in the rear end. As I was driving something happened in the rear of the car. I knew I was going to wreck - my car moved so quickly and spun to right, knocking me out. From my understanding of the wreck from a man who observed the wreck - I flipped multiple times, was on my side, landed upside down and slid upside down fast and for some distance and hit a tree (?), a stump came up inside the car - Jaws of Life had to remove me. I am recovering and a guardian angel had to be with me to have survived this horrible wreck - something happened in the rear of the car - there is a recall for a crossbar in the rear suspension that can erode due to snow, salt etc...?

On October 15 2017 my husband and I were taking my granddaughter home after an overnight visit. We were driving my 2013 Hyundai Sonata with Turbo engine. We were going southbound on highway 52 from Mount Airy to Winston-Salem. We have made this trip many times since my grandchildren have been born. We had been driving about a half an hour, my husband in the front seat, driving and my granddaughter and I in the back seat. My husband said the car is making a noise and doesnt seem to be running right. I am going to pull off at the next exit and check it out. I glanced over the seat at the dash to check for any warnings on the dash but didnt see any. What I did see was smoke coming out from under the dash. I yelled, I think the car I on fire! So as quickly as he could my husband pulled the car off the road and told me to unbuckle my granddaughters car seat and to get out. I got out and walked away from my car. I could see flames coming out from under my car and the back bumper was melting. My husband got out and got my granddaughter out. Some people had already called 911 but it was too late for my car. Flames were shooting up in the sky. The worst of the flames were around the gas tank where my granddaughters booster seat was located in the backseat. This car was well maintained and in great condition. I hope that someone finds out what caused this. It did have a recall for metal in the motor but I had already taken it in and they checked it out.

I have a 2012 Genesis with 42,000 miles on it and it blew an engine. A piston rod broke in half. Hyundai refuses to cover it under the warranty because they claim it was out of oil. I just had it serviced, but not by Hyundai, and there was oil in it. In fact when the rod broke the engine spilled oil all over the road and the tow truck. Even the dealer confirms that. But no the supreme judge at America Hyundai says no oil, no pay. The warranty isnt worth the paper its written on!!! Never, ever buy a Hyundai! The experience is bitter beyond description.

2008 Hyundai Veracruz - We bought this car in the summer of 2010 and in 3 1/2 years, I have replace 13 bulbs in this car. My wifes headlight just went out again and this will be the fourth set of headlights, and no these arent the cheap ones either. Interior door panels are tattered. The engine has been great, no problems at all. The only other problem was with the air bag. The air bag light came on so we took it back to the dealer and they told us that it would cost us $1000 to repair it. Meanwhile, my wife had a little bumper damage that needed taken care of so she had taken it in to a body shop (not a Hyundai dealer) and he said that he had a friend that owned an auto service shop and said that he would take it over and see if he could fix it. We received a call later saying that the air bag light just needed reset and that was that. I really doubt that I would buy another Hyundai.

This is not exactly what happened, but more like a what is about the Hyunda
This is not exactly what happened, but more like a what is about the Hyundai Elantra. I have just found this website when I decided to do some searching for Hyundai information, especially the Hyundai Elantras so-called automatic transmission. You see, in July 2010, I was desperately in need of some good transportation for myself and my family, and I decided to take a look at Hyundai. I am embarrassed to say that I bought two Elantras at the same time. Im even more embarrassed to admit that I traded a really nice Impala for them. OK, time to cut through the chase about the Elantra automatic. I have a very strong belief that Hyundai is under geared or lacks adequate gearing for the motors power band. Admittedly, Im no expert and unable to spew out technical jargon on the subject. But shortly after becoming an owner of my two Hyundais, I noticed that there was something very substandard about how these things shifted and accelerated. Ive begun reading other peoples reviews and I believe some of them are describing the very same condition, but maybe a little less technically aware of the actual problem. Its true that the vehicle will upshift during acceleration, putting the motor into a lugging state, if that is possible for a gasoline motor as it is for a diesel motor. Just to reiterate, Im not an expert on the subject but actually would love to hear someones expert opinion on the matter. Anyhow, these people are right such as Della of Omaha, NE - i.e. during normal acceleration. The vehicle shifts, then has very little power and begins to chug and vibrate so you have to punch the accelerator to go back down into the gear you just upshifted from. The condition is somewhat circumvented the more rapidly you accelerate, but soon you may find the RPMs back in that inadequate power range. I dont think this poses a problem for salespeople during a test drive because they know most people are going to punch the accelerator to see how it accelerates, meanwhile not noticing this annoying flaw. Now there is something in the drivers manual about manually downshifting for some situations and I think this can help some, but I think there is a tendency to forget to shift back into high gear. So to me, that makes it questionable about whether or not the vehicle is really automatic shifting, even though it is technically an automatic transmission. Ive heard people saying they went to the dealer experiencing this condition. Im not surprised theyre not acknowledging a problem with the vehicle. After all, they knew about it when they sold it to you. Without quoting right from the warranty, Im pretty sure it says something about vehicle performance that is characteristic to all the vehicles deems it to be normal. I would guess its a car companys right to sell you a crappy car, and the dealers too. It just proves people will do anything for a buck, even to whip out their Motor Trend magazine where it was their car of the year. So how did that happen, are they a creditable magazine? I just think they knew they were building a crappy car and they got people going around saying its great.

Although I love my car, I have to say without question, DO NOT BUY OR LEASE
Although I love my car, I have to say without question, DO NOT BUY OR LEASE HYUNDAI CARS. On November 26, 2016 I leased a 2017 Hyundai and turned in my 2014 Hyundai to the local Hyundai dealer. My lease payment went up about nine dollars a month. My bank inadvertently sent the new payment to the 2014 account instead of the new 2017 car account. I received a collection call on a Sunday saying I was two weeks passed due. I paid it again on the phone and started to check out why they did not receive it. When I called Hyundai Finance approximately six weeks after turning in the 2014 they said they had the extra money but were keeping it until the 2014 car closes out. MY BANK SENT THE MONEY IN ERROR. It is now nine weeks since I turned in the car and they still have my money. I will never buy a Hyundai product again even though it is a great car and I am now on my second Hyundai. I have checked with Mission Hills Hyundai, a terrific dealer, who is trying to get Hyundai to send me my refund. They keep apologizing however I still am out the money. The Hyundai Finance people are extremely hard to deal with. DO NOT BUY A HYUNDAI PRODUCT!

I purchased a new 2011 Hyundai Sonata from Cocoa Hyundai in Cocoa Beach, FL
I purchased a new 2011 Hyundai Sonata from Cocoa Hyundai in Cocoa Beach, FL. At the time, I was driving a 2008 Suzuki SX-4. I was looking to trade it in due to the warranty expiring and it having high miles. Originally, I had come in asking for the Elantra, as it was in the same size category. I got there and test drove the Elantra and thought it was ok, very fuel efficient. I then test drove the Sonata and immediately fell in love with it. The interior is very roomy. It also feels better when you drive it. I then worked up a deal with the dealership. At the time, I had very good credit. Looking back at the total cost of the vehicle, I dont believe I got such a great deal after all. The only reason I purchased there was because I had a friend of mine working at the dealer. He assured me he would take care of me and give me a great deal. Finally, after 2 1/2 hours of negotiating with the salesman, we came to an agreement on the price and monthly payment. It was more than I was wanting to spend; my monthly payment jumped up about an extra $125 a month. I told my wife we would make it work out somehow as we both really liked the vehicle. I would just cut back on things. We drove the vehicle home and were happy. 2 months after purchasing the vehicle, we received a notice in the mail saying there was recalls on it. We called the Closest dealer to our home which was Universal Hyundai in Orlando, FL and scheduled an appointment. We arrived to this dealer just to see a bunch of people standing around doing nothing. It took nearly 15 minutes for someone to finally acknowledge us. They told us they had no records of us even being in their service log. I guess someone had dropped the ball. They said theyll squeeze us in anyways. They told us the car would not be ready for several days as they did not have the parts available. I told them that was fine, but I didnt have transportation to work, as this is my main form of transportation. They said, Well, we have rental cars which are $40 a day. I told them I should not have to pay for something that is not my fault and the warranty should cover it. Finally, after arguing with the Service Manager for nearly a half hour, he said they would comp the rental fee. I picked up my car several days later and they handed me a bill for nearly $300. I told them the warranty should cover all this. They reviewed it and found it to be an error on their part. Since this experience, I have visited the dealer on numerous occasions for servicing. It has always been an ongoing issue for us. We also attempted to purchase a new vehicle, at the same dealer, for my wife back in November 2012. When we arrived, we were greeted by a gentleman, dont remember his name. He was quick to get us inside for a credit application. Didnt even allow us to test drive a car and figure out what we liked. After seeing that my wife did not have perfect credit, but fair credit, he then passed us over to a younger gentleman and said he had his appointment show up. It was an older couple that appeared to be well off. The younger gentlemen walked us around the car lot like lost puppies for about 20 minutes not knowing what type of car we wanted. My wife was looking for a smaller SUV like the Tucson and he began to show us the Elantra and the Accent. These are Hyundais more smaller, compact vehicles. My wife quickly spoke and said to him, Why are you showing us these cars? He said, Well this is within your budget and your credit. We had not even given him our budget. I told him we were looking at SUVs. That is what we told the other salesman. He said he told him to show us these cars. At this point, my wife became angry and said, Lets get out of here. These guys dont know what theyre doing. I told her to relax, lets at least get a test drive in before leaving. We test drove multiple vehicles and my wife really liked the Tucson. After this, we told him to work out some numbers. Told him we did not want to pay more than $400. He comes at us with $520 a month with $2000 down. I told him that would not work. He said, Well, theres the door if you dont like it. I looked at my wife and I was like wow, this is how they treat customers. We left very disappointed that day. Finally, this year, we had gone out Christmas shopping for the day. After doing our shopping, we came back to find that our Sonata was not starting. We checked the battery, even tried to get a jump start, but still nothing. After about an hour of exhausting all my options, I saw that there was a Tire Kingdom nearby. I pushed the car all the way to the lot. After speaking to the tech, he noticed the battery cable was loose, so he tightened it up. I was praying that it may have been the problem. We tried starting the car again and still got nothing. Finally, he told me there is something wrong with the starter. He recommended me contacting Hyundai because it would be about a $600 job. I then called Hyundai roadside assistance. They sent a tow truck to pickup my car. I was a good 25 miles from home. It was later in the evening so I asked them to tow it to the dealer closest to my home, again Universal Hyundai. I called and spoke to service department and they advised me to put the key in the afterhours drop box and fill out the form; I did. The next morning, I received a call from a service advisor and told me it would be $110 just to diagnose my car not including any repairs. My mileage was at 61k, the warranty had just ended at 60k. I asked him to help me out, but He said the warranty is pretty cut and dry, there was nothing anyone could do once you go over 60. I told him I guess I have no choice I needed the car fixed. He called me up about 2 hours later and told me it was the cable that connected the starter that was loose. Im thinking great, maybe it will be cheap repair since its just a cable not the starter. He quoted me a price of $340. I was so shocked to find this out. Right now is probably the worst time for something like this to happen, especially during the holidays. I had to gather up some cash and borrow money from family members just to cover this as I did not have a choice in the matter. I need my vehicle to get to work and back. He said the car would work with just this connection, but I could replace the whole starter if I wanted to. I picked up my car and looked at the invoice to see the part was $13.82, with $280 worth of labor fees, something that probably took less than 10 minutes to fix. The service advisor also told me there was an issue also with the steering column, something the warranty did not cover either. I was like what. He said the repair with parts and labor would be around a $1300 job. The warranty does not cover this. I contacted the service manager as a last resort and got nowhere, just the runaround. The service manager kept pointing the blame at Hyundai. He advised me to contact Hyundai customer support. I quickly called Hyundai and spoke with a person by the name of Fran. I explained the story once again to her and informed her that my warranty was over by a thousand miles and she looked to see if there may have been any recalls on my vehicle for any repairs. She did not find any, just ones that had already been repaired on my vehicle. She clearly stated without the warranty, there is nothing that can be done. I explained my frustration and told her I have had nothing but issues with this vehicle from the time I purchased it. She said, Let me get my case manager on the line, so you could speak with them. I waited for several minutes and a person by the name John came on the line. He was very cold and monotone in the way he spoke to me. He just confirmed once again what Fran had said about the warranty and was quick to point finger back at the dealer. I told him I have already contacted the dealer and they are pointing the blame on Hyundai. I told him Somebody has to step up to the plate and get this taken care of. This was something that was going on prior to the warranty expiring. He said there was nothing he can do, but just contact the dealer on my behalf and see if they will do it as a courtesy, or good will to not lose a customer. He said the turnaround time for this is 3 days. I told 3 days is unacceptable. He said it may not take a whole 3 days, that is the time frame. At this point, I was livid and just said thats fine. He called me the next day and said, I cant help nor can the dealer. I told him this will be the last time I ever purchase a Hyundai. I called back again and spoke with several other people and all of them had nasty attitudes with me. I guess they must made an extensive file about me being upset. This will be my last time buying a Hyundai. I guess the parts they use on their vehicles are only designed to last up to 60k miles. After that, youre pretty much on your own. I know Suzuki doesnt make cars anymore in the US, but I drove 2 new Suzuki’s for well over 90k miles and never had a problem. Boy, I wish Suzuki was still in the US. Id be getting rid of this car in a jiffy. I guess this was a hard lesson learned, but I will just try and finish paying it off, then trade it in.

On March 19, 2014, around 2pm I was driving home from my place of work in Temecula, CA, where my car had been off & parked for at least three hours. I was northbound on Highway 15, between Murrieta Hot Springs and California Oaks Road, in my 2011 Hyundai Sonata. The car seemed to be driving fine until suddenly the car immediately starting smoking from under the hood and as I was pulling over to the side of the freeway, flames emerged. As soon as I pulled over and put the car in park, I hopped out hoping it wouldnt blow up with me inside. Then, after multiple failed attempts to extinguish the fire, it finally went out with the help of a few good Samaritans. Im extremely thankful, my fiancee and baby girl were not in the car with me. According to the incident report, it was the fuel line that had failed. Yet according to the Hyundai reps who have contacted me since towing my car to Hyundai in Temecula, they cannot determine the cause of the fire. Ive done some extensive research on similar occurrences only to find out that there have been multiple unresolved fires in Hyundai Sonatas around the US. After 2 months of a thorough investigation on my vehicle, they sent me a letter stating they had no idea what caused the fire. So, they cannot agree that the fire was caused by the vehicle. Ive found plenty others with the same issue. Can you say CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT!?

Purchased a Hyundai Kona in 2018, just over 30G miles while in Colorado the check engine light goes on (this is August 2020). Take the car to Boulder Hyundai, they have no real idea what is wrong with it, replace injectors, debris in engine, they dont know why.... Wont release car as it could be unsafe, all 4 pistons misfiring so bad that the steering wheel pulls aggressively to the right. Supposedly they fix it, I am told if check engine light comes back on, stop car immediately and have it towed in, as it is dangerous to drive. Well Sept 7th, check engine light comes on again, steering wheel pulling aggressively again due to misfiring. I stop, have car towed in. Nalley Hyundai has had my car since 9/8/20. Replaced everything again, still same problem, they are in no rush to help, they have had my car for OVER 6 weeks, no clue whats wrong, I am completely at their mercy! Still making payments on car I cannot drive, they refuse to take it back and make it right. So I am paying on a car I have not driven in over 6 weeks and there is nothing I can do about it! Front bumper falls off very easily on Sonata - Be very careful when pulling into a parking spot with a tire stop installed like most handicapped parking spots. I went about 2 inches too far and heard a scrape on the tire stop. I backed up slowly, and it pulled my front bumper off the car on one side. I pushed it back into place and taped it up to drive home. They are the cheapest little plastic devices that hold the bumper on the car, and once they break (according to my dealer), you have no choice but to replace the whole front end of the car ($1,104.00). When speaking to the body shop for Hyundai, they explained that Hyundai used to warrant this problem, but there were so many that they quit doing it. They said they had replaced over 25 of these recently. I went through all the Hyundai customer options, but they would not help in any way. There is nothing to keep this from happening again except being very careful when you park. I will never buy another Hyundai again because of this. Very cheap manufacturing and possibly dangerous. I hate to see this happen with our car companies. I never had this happen with any other car in the last 50 years I have been driving. Just an additional note, there is not a scratch anywhere on the bumper except underneath and nothing broke or cracked except these cheap fasteners which are attached to the bumper. Some of the other plastic parts under the bumper have to be replaced as well. Hope this helps others, and I wish I knew about it before I bought this car.

I have a 2011 Hyundai Accent which I bought April 1st 2011. Since I bought it, I have had issues with the rubber around the outside of the windshield, which started coming off 2 months after I bought it. I have had to get it fixed twice. The first time they glued it back, it came off again. The second time, they replaced the whole piece. Now December 2011, it is coming off again! Im going on my third time. Then in August, I found out that it came misaligned from the factory and the dealers solution was to put a shim so they could go in and align it properly, that took 2 months to fix and now my tires are warped because of it! By the way, Im still waiting for new tires and it is now December! I spoke to the dealership in order to look at my options, because I no longer want this car. I dont want to deal with the hassle of repeated maintenance (its a brand new car!) and the solution to my lemon is to trade it in so they can squeeze more money out of me for a car that Ive had for 8 months! This was my first brand new car ever. How disappointing. My old 98 Ford Escort gave me less trouble than this. 5 times to get your brand new car fixed in the span of 8 months! What a mistake. Never again!

This car has been a lemon from the day I bought it. It is dangerous. It began when I first started using the cruise control. It does not shut off correctly somehow. It will start accelerating when I am trying to stop the car or slow down! The tac will go all the way to six! I have to fight the acceleration using the brake. Shortly after purchase, when started in neutral, it lurched forward without cause, and ran into a parking barrier, denting the front. When I took it to the dealership while still under warranty, they said they could not replicate the situation, and did nothing. I argued with them and they agreed that if this situation gets fixed, it should be under warranty. I insisted they put it in writing. So I have been driving this way for quite a while, but that isnt the worst part of this. Yesterday, Sept. 30, 2013, I was driving the car when it started belching yellowish smoke. I parked it and investigated. No gauges came on. No fluid anywhere. Not overheating. I turned it off and had it towed to the dealership. It still has the drive-train warranty. Today, they told me it needs a new engine. They said the oil was really dirty and unless I can prove proper maintenance, the warranty is null. They did no further investigation after looking at the oil and that the exhaust is burnt out, too, and needs replaced. The cost would be from $8000 to $12,000. I still owe $14,000 on the car! The oil had been changed about 10,000 miles ago, which is too long, but not a reason for the motor to crater! No gauge lights up, only symptom is smoking exhaust. It was running fine when I parked it except for the smoke. This doesnt make sense to me.I will not go into detail about the other small things that have broken or quit working, like the lights, under-carriage being flimsy, moon-roof sticking, the no brake lights recall, etc... I have made a claim to the company and they are working on it. If they dont resolve this, I will report it on every social media site I can find, not to mention the hundreds of coworkers and students I have that will hear about it. Dont buy Hyundai.

I purchased a 2010 Hyundai Sonata in August 2009 with 500 miles on it at the time of purchase. To date, I have had the vehicle in the service department 3 times regarding the transmission, dropping, failing and stalling, for a total of about 4 weeks in the shop. Just before the 60k mile warranty expired, the rear passenger side door handle fell apart. I had that replaced, covered under warranty. Since that time, about 5,000 miles has passed and today, the just replaced door handle fell off again in my hand trying to put my children in the car. I have tried and tried to be patient and put up with this car and all the times it has been in and out of the shop, but I am truly to my breaking point. I have to put my children in this car and travel to school, work, daycare and after-school activities. I need someone to get in touch with me regarding the possible lemon law or before it gets to that point about someone buying back my vehicle and putting me in something comparable of my choice. I am aware of the laws and my rights. Please contact me as soon as possible so we can have this resolved before anyone is seriously injured as a result of poor craftsmanship and production of my vehicle. Thank you very much in advance for your time.

I was driving my 2007 Hyundai Entourage on my way to work when suddenly my driver side airbag deployed. I was not able to see for few seconds which caused me to hit a tree on the passenger side. Note: The front passenger side got the major damage, however its airbag didnt deployed on impact against that tree. My driver side has no damage at all. Luckily it was only me driving and none of my children were with me that day. Luckily the accident happened in my subdivision which is only around 15 mph drive. Had this happened in the highway, it could have caused more damage and probably fatality. 2 questions here: Why would my driver side airbag deploy all of a sudden at a low speed, driving straight on a smooth/dry road in a subdivision? And why didnt the passenger side airbag deploy on impact with that tree? Had one of my children been with me sitting in the front passenger seat, he or she could have gotten seriously hurt - the airbag wouldnt have been there to protect them from serious injuries. We love our minivan and never have any major problems with it since we bought it. It only has around 150,000 miles. This is a MAJOR SAFETY concern that the company Hyundai should address.

On 8/20/2013 I was leaving the VA clinic, I put the car in drive and pressed the gas. A few seconds later the car sounded like a motorcycle and the check engine light came on. I didnt want to drive it on the highway so I took the main streets. The exhaust got louder and louder and I was afraid it might cause engine damage. I saw a Meineke Car Care Center and pulled in. They lift the car and the mechanic said that the converter gasket blew out. While installing a new gasket he noticed that the gasket flange on the front pipe was a little distorted probably from all the heat. He told me he would have to put a small amount of sealer on the gasket to make up for the gap and that he didnt know if it would hold, but it would get me to the Hyundai service department without hurting the engine. When he had finished and started the car it was perfect. No noise, no leaks. I had an appointment with Twin City Hyundai on 9/12 for a recall problem. I told them what had happened and the Service rep., the service manager and a mechanic looked for almost an hour and took some parts off the front of the engine. The service rep. called me over and started explaining what was wrong with the car. He said, and they ALL agreed that the manifold was cracked and had to be replaced, the converter was no good, and needed a new front pipe, and they may find other problems after they tore it down. Travis said it would cost $1400 to $3000 if the warranty didnt cover it. Travis (the service rep.) said he had to take some pictures to see if the warranty would cover the cost. On Monday 9/16 Travis called and said the warranty was void because it was road damage, and said it would be as much as $3,000.00 to fix it. Travis NEVER said anything about “Road Damage” on 8/20 after the 3 of them had a one hour inspection. After I got Travis’s call I took the car back to Meineke and told them what Twin City said it would cost. They were outraged and called it a scam. Meineke fixed the car perfectly by installing a new front pipe and their inspection showed NO manifold crack, and no need to replace the converter as it was working properly. The front pipe was $200.00.I drove to Twin City Hyundai and acted like I wanted to have them fix the car. I asked Travis to take another look and make sure he was sure about his appraisal, and what the car needed to be fixed. Even though the car was fixed he still said that it could be as much as $3000 but definitely no lower than $1400. That’s when I told him the car was fixed for $200 and that I wondered how many others he had scammed. I then went up and talked to the General Manager **, and explained the fraud that they tried to pull. His comments were “what would you like me to do about it?” I said as the General Manager, I guess that was up to him, and then out of nowhere he says you are banded from brings your car here for warranty service. He tries to punish me for because I caught his people trying to scam me out of $2800.00.

The airbag light was on in my 2009 Hyundai Tucson. When I took it to the dealership for diagnosis, it was found that a wire in a small assembly behind the passenger seat, that is attached to the seat belt, was broken. The dealer said they could not fix the wire because its a liability since it has to do with the SRS airbag system. There is no replacement part, so the whole assembly where the wire goes under the car, needs to be replaced and it costs thousands of dollars. The dealer contacted Hyundai and advised them that I want Hyundai to pay for this expense because it is not under warranty (60,000) and my car has 67,572 miles only. However, they responded back that Hyundai will not pay. This is a safety issue and I do not have the money to repair what I know is a defective part. I am extremely upset that they would not consider this an exception to the warranty rules, because it was never tampered with, only checked by the mechanic at the dealership and that is the only place I get it serviced. This is not normal wear and tear or a moving part and should last the life of the vehicle. And this is a serious issue.

In fall 2014, I purchased a new 2015 Hyundai Elantra with a 1.8 L 4 cylinder motor. Since then, the car has had standard interval servicing with full synthetic motor oil, done at the Hyundai Dealership. The car is mainly used for commuting to work, and the majority of the miles driven are interstate miles. The car drives approximately 30,000 miles per year. At 105,000 miles, the car developed a ticking from the front of the engine. The standard powertrain warranty is 10 year/100,000 miles. I took the car to the Stew Hansen Hyundai dealership in Des Moines IA, and they diagnosed it as a worn rod bearing, or rod knock. The service Hyundai agreed to provide the parts, but did not agree to provide the service cost ($2500) or loaner car. At the time that the engine needed repair, I was told that the parts would be in as soon as possible. Joe, my service advisor, advised that other cars that are same make and model has been experiencing this issue after the winter months of 2017. He advised that the dealership had 5 others Elantras waiting for a new engine. He advised that the engine components were not getting enough oil due to a manufacturing defect. Therefore, running without oil for extended periods of time. It has now been almost 2 months, and Hyundai is estimating, but not guaranteeing, that the engine will arrive on April 27th. Which is a total of 3 months since I have not had my car. I have been advised that the engine parts are backordered, which tells me that this is a national problem. I have contacted Hyundai Woodhouse in Omaha, NE and they advised me that they are having the same issues with their customers Elantras. I have contacted Hyundai Consumers Affairs about the issue, and asked for reimbursement for a rental car because the process is taking a long period of time. My consumer claims advisor told me that they could not give me a definitive answer if I would be covered by a rental reimbursement. I then asked to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor advised me that the reimbursement would depend if the part was included in a repair campaign or recall. Upon asking if this part would be covered under a campaign or recall because of the national shortage, she could not given a definitive answer, and advised that my reimbursement claim would be reviewed after the part is fixed, leaving me with no clear answer. My family is currently down to one car, and my wife and I both drive to work, which puts a large amount of miles on our one vehicle. I understand that the vehicle is out of warranty, however, we feel that Hyundai has not take responsibility to ensure customer satisfaction. We initially were grateful that Hyundai was providing the parts, but we feel that no-one should have to wait 3 months for their car to be repaired.

Hyundai is NOT committed to the safety of its owners. Despite a nationwide recall on my vehicle model (07 Sonata) due to malfunctioning air bag systems, the local dealership instead tried to blame my cars erratic air bag on/off indicator on an electronics short/seat belt issue and extort $360 from me to repair it. Calling the Hyundai Customer Care Center resulted in plenty of canned answers and false sympathy but no resolution. Very disappointed by the total lack of concern and support for this vital component; its not like Im trying to get a free upgrade or anything... just working airbags!! I guess thats too much to ask for Hyundai.

We love the appearance of our Hyundai Sonata. However, it is covered under an oil consumption recall which the dealer will not fix. Hyundais complaint department is no help other than recommending us going to another dealer. The next dealer is further away from us. We already drive too far to the current dealer for them to do the oil consumption test. Said oil consumption test involves the dealer changing the oil early due to the oil consumption. They have guidelines that say the car must use 1 quart of oil by 1,000 miles. Our car makes it barely past 1,000 miles and then hits 2 quarts low before the oil change is due.We have been advised not to add oil or get oil changed anywhere other than the dealership. Thats what we are doing. They seem to overfill the oil each time which gets us barely past that 1,000 mile guideline. We cant trust this car for trips. We cant keep driving back and forth to the dealership for them to do nothing. We will not buy another Hyundai and we will continue to warn others of our troubles.

I have a 2007 Azera. This is not my first Hyundai, but this seems to be the one I am most disappointed in. I bought the car used in 2011. The car was clean, drove great, was good on gas mileage, then the check engine light came on. I took the car on a regular basis for oil changes and maintenance and when they hooked the car up to find out why the engine light was on, they had no answer. It didnt even register that it was on. So that was perplexing. Ive learned to live with the check engine light - it goes on and off when it feels like it. Then the motor on my sunroof stopped working, it will no longer open or close all the way. About a week ago I was leaving for work and I went to get in my car and the seat was pushed all the way back, now as a woman I panicked and thought someone had been in my car, but that wasnt the case. When I finally felt safe to enter my car (there was no one hiding in my back seat),I adjusted my seat back to normal manually.I started driving down the road and the seat readjusted itself without me touching anything, once again I panicked but this time it was because I couldnt reach the pedals. I turned around came back home and switched cars with my husband because I had no idea what the problem was and I didnt want to get on the highway and not be able to reach the pedals. He drove the car to his work and not only did the seat keep adjusting itself but the steering wheel moved also. On the way home that day, he said it seemed to be fine. Now a week to the day later, today, I was leaving work to come home which is a 48 mile drive, my cars seat was all the way back again. I tried adjusting it, I shut the car off and tried to start over, NOTHING - the seat kept automatically going back. Is this safe? Should I be driving this car when I cant even reach the pedals? Im very afraid at this point that I am going to get into an accident or cause an accident. What do you suggest?

Let me start at the beginning. I bought the 2018 Hyundai Sonata from Hyundai of Milford. I cam back for my first oil change and all went well. When the second oil change came around, they explained that in order to comply with warranty conditions, I needed to rotate the tires (a charge of about 85.00 with the oil change). No problem, I said. When I get the car back, I notice the tires were never rotated and I was charged. My understanding as they explained it to me is that if the services were not completed, it would void the warranty. They claim I was given a couple of free oil changes. Although they also said the tires would be rotated too, so I am really not so sure what I got. During one of the alleged free oil changes, I was told there was a software update. Again, I said, No problem, and they claim to have completed it.Anyway, so in August, I was 50+ miles from home, stopped at a car wash, grabbed a bite to eat and to my surprise, when I came out of the restaurant to start the car, the check engine light comes on. I had no acceleration whatsoever. Using their roadside assistance, I was towed from Windsor, CT to Branford Hyundai. It was Sunday, so the service department was closed. Service called me the following day to inform me that the main wiring harness was supposed to have been replaced when the software update was done. This tow cost me $130.00 since the roadside assistance only towed up to 20 miles. They kept the car for 2-3 days and finally called me and stated that the car was ready and all set. So, I picked up the car and a month a half later, guess what happens? Once again, I am in Windsor driving down the highway in the pouring rain and out of nowhere, the check engine light comes on again and the acceleration just stops. I have a car behind me that almost plows into me as a result. I coast off the next exit to a service station and again call for a tow truck. I used roadside assistance from another service that I have because it was a little cheaper and the second tow cost me $92.00.I towed it again to Branford Hyundai, it was Sunday again, so they were not open. I had to Uber to work the next day and waited all day for the service department to call me. They finally did at the very end of the day, after I called them a couple of times. I called them before I had to leave work, and they said they had not looked at it yet. When I got home, they called and said my car was all set. I got there, and the serviceman states, the problem was the knock sensor, and it should have been replaced when the wiring harness was replaced, he then stated, and I quote that this has been happening a lot and it was driving them crazy. We have been dealing with a lot of them and I should have replaced the knock sensor the last time you were here, sometimes we dont need to replace them though.I was told to send in both towing bills and receipts to corporate and I would be reimbursed for both towing bills. Well, when I did, I got an email suggesting that I sign a statement releasing them from liability for any further repairs related to the recall, and this would be the only way I would get reimbursed for the second tow only. I find their business practice unprofessional and they do not stand behind the products they sell. I refused to sign any documents, they said they would not reimburse anything if this was not signed. Very poor business practice. As a result of their carelessness, I am out $222.00 and am working harder than ever to get out of the car I am in, the 2018 Hyundai Sonata is NOT safe to drive. I am making sure that I let everyone I know (and that is a lot of people) not to buy from Hyundai or Kia (since they are the same manufacturer), and if they already did, to investigate whether the services they are completing are actually being done. I no longer have any ounce of trust in either of them and question their integrity. They need to be investigated by some authorities regarding their business practices since there are so many of their cars on the road. Based on the comments of the serviceman at Branford Hyundai, there seems to be a lot of them. If you happen to be behind one on the road BE CAUTious! The car may just lose power and cause a serious accident.

I bought a 2011 Hyundai, I was the second owner. As I was going to work I pulled out onto a main highway where the motor made this horrible noise and stopped, leaving me in terrible danger. People helped me push the car to get it backed off to a bit of safety zone, I had to have it towed to a garage. This car had 82,000. miles on it, it seems the motor was gone. It was then towed to the dealership, where it sat for 4 months before anyone even took a look at it. I keep calling them frequently about it and was told, they had so many cars before me in line they didnt have time to work on it.I had to find other means of transportation for work and other necessities. Only to be told because I was 2,000 over the second owners warranties that Hyundai refused to replace it. They had a class action suite against them, I was notified, but didnt have a problem at the time I was notified. Why would I spent $6,000 for a new one of their motors when the one I had was no good? I was told of others the same dealership that they had replaced motors with the overage mileage. I had expected to drive this car for at least 200,000 plus miles. Just goes to prove not all Lemons are yellow!

On June 2020, I purchased a Palisade 2020 at Lougheed Hyundai. The car was purchased new. I quickly discovered that this car is in fact was damaged during the manufacturing process. Or, this may have been the result of damage incurred by workers at Lougheed Hyundai, which was then covered up. After a few days of having the car, I went to an automatic car cleaning service. After completing the wash, I noticed discoloration on the car body near the wheels (near the back passenger door) because its paint peels off. What bothered me with my experience at Lougheed Hyundai is the terrible customer experience and the general manager doesnt care of the customer. He offered me to repaint that part which is included in the warranty or he can replace that part of my car with a another new car!! So it might have been happened for my car before I purchased it. I made a down payment of $2k on what was to be a new 2013 Genesis Premium Coupe. After much research, I found out what others were paying for this vehicle and signed a purchase agreement, for which the salesperson refused to provide me with a copy saying it was against Corporate Policy. The exact vehicle had to be obtained from a W. Virginia dealership, so I didnt see the car until all the paperwork was signed. The window sticker of the W. VA dealership showed the car had 9 miles on it. I figured the vehicle should have about 100 to 125 miles on it. The salesperson stated they would have to search for one, and surprisingly, he had it on his lot the following morning. I couldnt pick it up for four days, so the dealership had time to call and alert me to the high mileage but didnt.I found out about the high mileage when I was signing the odometer statement. I questioned it and was told that the vehicle was not driven from the originating dealership but from another W. VA dealership that traded it with the originating dealership. Even in that event, 455 miles sounded unreasonable. I found several paint chips, nicks, and scratches when I got the car home. I requested to speak with the General Sales Manager about the high mile, condition of the paint job, and an allowance of $300.00. Despite repeated attempts, he refused to talk with me. The dealership didnt want to have anything to do with this matter, but the salesperson did pay someone $32.50 to fix two of the paint chips and he paid for a rental. The dealership would have had to pay for a rental anyway, since I had to bring the vehicle back to have the Paint and Fabric Protection applied and 24 hours were needed for it to dry.I paid the same amount for a vehicle with 455 miles that other people were paying for the same car with 2 or ten or sixty miles. I looked into the matter further and found that the car was driven from the originating dealership in W. VA to a dealership in Pennsylvania, back to a dealership in W. VA. and finally to Hyundai of Greensbug. The salesperson left that out. In addition, the mileage driven from the various dealerships fell short of 455 miles which meant someone was driving the vehicle for personal use. I have no way of knowing how the car was driven during the all important Break-In-Period. Furthermore, when I first liquid-waxed the car, I noticed another paint chip on the edge of the hood closest to the windshield. I dont know how damage was done so close to the windshield without damaging the windshield. The chip was down to the metal but covered with the paint protection dried solution. At this point, I had only driven the car, which is garage-kept, about 100 miles. So the damage did not occur while I had it. I called the salesman and he told me I could bring the car in to have the paint chip repaired at my own expense. There is no way anyone within their right mind would pay what I paid knowing in advance that the vehicle had 455 miles on it. No wonder it did not sell at the three previous dealerships. The car had to be sold sight-unseen. I take care of my vehicles which the attached photo of my 20-year-old Honda Accord supports.

Whatever you do when you buy a Hyundai, carry Emergency Roadside with your insurance company. DO NOT RELY ON THIS PIECE OF CRAP SERVICE! Especially when it comes to your safety! Locked keys in car, as well as money, credit cards, and of course, cell phone. Only had new Accent about 4 months, decided she has it out for me. Ive never had such bad luck with any of the possibly 20 cars Ive owned. Im not here to write all my complaints about this gas guzzling, gutless, cheap economy car. But the 800 # on the window? Scrap it off and toss it. Wont do any good, unless you have your phone, flashlight, eyeglasses, and nothing better to do than stand in the rain, at night, in a sketchy hood in the dark fighting off bums for almost three hours. I dont care what youve heard about Hawaii and Aloha spirit! Most Local People HATE ** people and do not like to be bothered by us in time of need, no way no how. Ive lived here many years and can tell you Aloha is a farse, like, an honest politician. Kid at gas station did NOT appreciate my asking to use the business phone for an emergency, then called number on car door, was still daylight so could read vin #. Took forever to answer all the questions, then the customer service guy said he needed callback #. Told him I didnt have one available, the business phone was not happening, and my phone is locked in car. I was very descriptive of my location, no callback # available but was assured, within an hour??? I would be assisted but need to stay by car. So hour and a half go by, no one. I reluctantly asked kid to use phone again, called 800 # again, they had no record of my first call, so again they want my vin #, dark now cant see it, my name, phone #, email address couldnt find my ownership anywhere, they need a call back #, Im pissed at this point. They would not be able to promise help without callback #. So tried to break out back window, kid from gas station finally feeling sorry for poor 60 yr old woman in the rain and the dark, assisted me with calling a nearby locksmith. Almost 3 hrs later and $250 cash!!! Not even gonna bother with asking for any refund, ya already know theres fine print somewhere excluding the hardship I went through. So, because the car is crap, roadside service is crap, warranty will be crap when I tell em to shove the $60, less than 1000 mile, every three month oil change, without even so much as a vacuum job. Wait til they see the back window I tried to bang out with a rock! Screw it. Crappy car. Crappy service.

In October 2013, I purchased a 2013 Hyundai Elantra. Unfortunately, I trusted my local dealer because Ive had a good relationship with them for four years. Thats no longer a true statement. While shopping, and let me say it was a 6-hour ordeal trying to purchase the car on day 1, I mentioned numerous times that I drive 200 miles round trip to work. I finally picked a car and had to wait hours to get into the finance office to firm it up. While waiting, I noticed that the sticker on the window said the car comes with an emergency tire puncture repair kit in lieu of spare. I stopped the deal and told the salesman I must have a spare tire and jack. Period. He assured me that theyd get me one, but told me it really wasnt necessary because the car comes with 5 years of roadside assistance. I asked him if we shouldnt amend the paper they had asked me to sign saying they didnt owe me anything. He assured me it wasnt necessary. When it was my turn in the finance office, I mentioned to that man that we had just discussed the fact that I must have a spare tire and he assured me that the salesman would take care of me. I signed up, trusting when I shouldnt have trusted. Let me state here that I told the salesman over and over again that I did not want this car unless there was a spare. Well, turns out they did not have the certificate of origination, so I had to wait several days. Because I changed my mind about using my old car as a trade in, I went back and re-did all the paperwork. Then they delivered the car to me - not with a full tank of gas, as promised by the salesman and the Hyundai car sticker. I asked where was the spare and the salesman had the gall to say, What spare? When I reminded him of our numerous conversations, he stated, I didnt tell you that. I didnt promise you a spare. That ensued in an argument, and it didnt end well. In fact, I was instantly sorry I had bought the car. My mistake. I should have immediately refused delivery and demanded to see the manager. We told the salesman to order me a tire, and he said it would cost over $300. Well, why didnt they offer to add one on for $300 when I was paying for the car? Again, he said to me, If you get a flat, just sit in the car, lock the doors, and call the 800 number for Roadside Assistance. More lies.I spoke with the manager the next day and he said they would split the cost with me 50/50. I told him I was furious about the lies I had been told, but 50/50 was the best he could do. Since I was willing to pay $300 the day prior, I told them fine. 50/50 was cheaper than I could buy it myself. Wrong again. When I got home, I started reading the owners manual and on page 10, in fine print, it said that roadside assistance is good for 5 years for everything EXCEPT flat tires when the person was provided with an emergency puncture kit.I had just cancelled my personal roadside assistance plan! How in the heck does Hyundai think a puncture kit is going to help if I have a flat 100 miles from home, or late at night when no garage is open? This is a safety hazard. Even worse, they are using unfair consumer trade practices. The big signs on the dealership wall saying 5 YEAR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE sure dont have an asterisk and fine print below telling you what it doesnt cover. The salesman never once said they could not offer me a spare and jack as an option. In fact, he blatantly lied and said roadside assistance would cover me if I had a flat. Now let me tell you something Hyundai should understand. I would prefer to have NO ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE and a spare tire than this pack of lies! They obviously didnt do any focus groups before they implemented this stupid marketing measure. They have lost me as a customer forever, and I believe a class action lawsuit is in order. As for the local dealer, they have lost my business. They sell Hyundais exclusively, so they better start praying for their business. They are going to learn that being disingenuous to customers in a small town will put them out of business more quickly than anything else. As for me, Hyundai sucks as a company. Id give anything to go back in time just a few days. Id rather give my purchasing dollars to a company with ethics.

It appears that were all having the same issues with Hyundais Consumer Affairs department, the local service departments, and worst of all, voiding the consumer warranties at their convenience. Its time to stand up and voice your concerns to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Please make sure you file your complaint with the FTC too by visiting their websites. They need to know about how Hyundai is treating their customers and lying to the public. Please note, I have tried to contact the people at the corporate office and they will only forward your concerns back to consumer affairs. The same people who dont care to resolve your complaint. I brought my 2008 Veracruz to the dealer to have 90.0K maintenance. I complained that auto accelerated in between 3rd and 4th gears. The dealer stated that diagnostics reported no issues. Two months later, the car accelerated out of control while driving on a highway. I was able steer car onto a shoulder, while placing the car in neutral, yet the engine was revving out of control. The tachometer showed RPM was at 5! I turned off engine and waited for a few minutes and the car started without a problem.I brought it to transmission specialist who conducted a diagnostics check. They stated the problem was electrical within the gas pedal and throttle. The next day, I returned the car to the dealer. However, the car seized and had to get towed to the dealership. The dealership is not sure what the problem was. I am getting the runaround from the dealer! I will take the next steps upon hearing back from the dealership!

My name is Daniel **. I am regretting the choice of buying a vehicle from Hyundai, who claims that they are there to help service the people and help me in general. Unfortunately, Hyundai is providing false information to there clientele. I recently just purchased my 2011 Hyundai Accent. The first week after having bought the car, I had issues. For instance, on the drivers door, there was a light scratch. The tail lights had water leaking inside, creating humidity. And the ignition circle was not firmly adjusted. The servicemen at my Hyundai dealership did fix the scratch without any issue. But they gave me problems towards the tail lights and the ignition key input to start the vehicle. After 6 months of owning the $ 23000 car, which is covered under the Hyundai warranty, I am extremely unsatisfied. Two weeks ago, I brought the Accent to the dealer due to a steering issue i had. They told me the front rim was dented and it was $ 155 to repair it. So, I agreed to this, seeing as it could have been possible as we have terrible roads over here. The following day, the car was making a whistling sound coming from the front tire that they worked on. The day after, I went back and it took them 1 hour an a half to figure out the problem. They charged me $90 without notice or knowledge that I had to pay for them to recheck the car (normally any garage or mechanic will call you first or consult with the client before putting a price to anything). The following week, I noticed a very loud rattling noise while starting the ignition. So as furious as I was, I called the dealership and asked them if they had room to see me. They advised me not till next week. So, I decided to bring the car to another dealer, because it is extremely inconvenient having a brand new car making this noise and causing me so much issues. The service at the new dealership was very kind. I asked if they can take a look at the lights and the rattling sound. They checked it. And then, they called me back a few hours after, saying the tail lights were not screwed in tight, and the metal shield beneath the vehicle wasnt intact enough. They fixed everything and charged me once more $70 without notice! Logically speaking, why would this not be a defect and not under warranty?!I am extremely frustrated. I never loosened anything on my vehicle. This is an issue that came from the manufacturer. This is a product complaint! What I want from you right now is what Hyundai promised me, which is if anything doesnt sound right with the car, you will come in and will examine it for free. Thats why you have a warranty! Where is the promise in that? Does Hyundai just talk strictly out of nowhere just to sell a car and make a couple of bucks commission? I refuse to pay for issues that were caused by bad mechanics from Hyundais part.

In June we leased a 2017 Tucson Limited. Our current 2015 Sonata Limited lease had 4 months left on the lease but we were fine with paying those months so we could head out on a 3-month road trip in the new Tucson. The dealer told me that when I turned in the 2015 Sonata it would be inspected by their Hyundai turn in person. I made arrangements with the Jim Clicks Hyundai lease turn in specialist who was the Used Car Manager to inspect my car a few days prior to the actual turn-in date. I wanted to make sure there were no issues with the car. I had the pre inspection and he told me it was the cleanest turn-in he had inspected. A few days later I did the actual turn-in and received a turn-in acceptance sheet stating no issues.Hyundai lease told me I would receive a statement in 60 days with the final lease payment charges. When the statement arrived I noticed $115 charged for wear and tear. I called Hyundai Finance and was told one of the tires had less than 4/32 tread remaining and that they needed to buy a tire before they could send the car to auction. This sounds like BS to me. The car had 35K on it at turn-in and the OEM tires should not have been worn out. I was also told that the dealer turn in specialist is not the real inspector and that the car was inspected by a third party company in Phoenix. The reason I had the pre inspection was so I could correct any issues before I had an unanticipated charge. I am paying the statement in full today but this issue has left a sour feeling with us regarding dealing with Hyundai in the future. Our first Hyundai which we still have is a 2006 Sonata and the 2017 Tucson will be our last Hyundai.

I have the Hyundai Sonata 2011 that was manufactured in Alabama between Dec 11, 2009 and April 12, 2012 part of the recall campaign 132. Prior to this my Sonatas motor seized up and stopped work with only 60K miles and at that time the company did not want to honor the warranty and also gave me a very hard time about the loaner so much that I had to rent a car myself. I later contacted someone at the corporate office in CA and finally received a full refund. Now my motor goes out with no warranty at 154K miles. Send the car to my mechanic for repairs. Out of pocket 15.000+ only to find out that there was nothing left but to replace the motor according to my VIN number. This is what Hyundai motors said and was also told that money I spent would be reimburse in 90 days. Well its been 100 + days without even a courtesy call?

Three years ago, I purchased a new Hyundai Genesis. Unfortunately, the car veered to the right which make driving difficult and dangerous. When I first brought the car in, the dealer denied a problem. When I returned shortly thereafter, they reluctantly agreed that the car lurched to the right. After a series of trips back and forth to the dealer, the tires were replaced, the alignment was redone, the electronics were revised and the problem persisted. After my 6th or 7th visit, I gave them the car and told them that I would not take it back till the problem was solved. They kept the car for months and were never able to sort it out. Meanwhile, I communicated with corporate Hyundai and they were rude. I finally invoked the lemon law and my money was returned (not the interest that I had been paying Hyundai as they held the loan on the car). Needless to say, whenever I see a Hyundai on the road, I think to myself what a poor sucker is driving that car. I will never buy a Hyundai again.

The Hyundai Entourage minivan has been a good, reliable vehicle. We have had only a couple of very minor repairs done to it in the 10 years that we have owned it. The Entourage has a very good amount of power. It is never sluggish off the starting line. It is also an attractive looking vehicle. The thing that I liked most about this van over the other we considered purchasing is the price. It was the most affordable of all that we considered purchasing. My least favorite feature on this van is the radio. Sometimes the volume control doesnt work. If I tap the dash, I can usually get it to adjust the volume. I am only sorry that Hyundai not longer makes the Entourage as I would definitely purchase another one.

Don’t Buy it and waste your time and money! I lease Hyundai Tucson on December 2018. The car was running perfect for 3 months. The start showing same problem over and over, the problem is happened often but in not continuous manner. The problem is:1. If the car off, once you insert the key in ignition, the key stuck and not turn the car on. After 15 to 30 minutes the car back to normal.2. If the car on ... suddenly the maintenance light, the turned on, the AC turned off, the front left signal off, the engine overheated and when you turn the car off the key stuck in ignition. The issue continue happened almost once a week for 30 minutes and then disappeared and back running normal. I took one of my vacation day and took it to the dealer. I explained the issue in detail, he said as far as the issue not continues he can diagnose it.“People who create car cannot identify issue and leave you with possibility to stuck in the middle of nowhere of that issue happened ... funny right”. Every time the issue happening I called hyundai to come pick up the car and find out what’s going out and give me a loaner car since my work required a car all time —- customer service, case manager reject my request. Last time the issue cont. so I called the road side assistance. They took it to the dealer. The car was in repair for three days. Hyundai did not give me a loaner car and they offer the max reimbursement for rental car $38/day... that offer after I had a case # with them and two days after I was without car ... in NYC is impossible. The min car rental is $60/day in NYC and that for smaller car than the Tucson. The dealer claim that he fix it by replacing the ignition. 30 minutes after I pick the car up and on my way back the issue is happened again for 30 mins... Again back to same hyundai concept cannot identify their car issued .... funny. That would be the last car I buy or lease from hyundai. Except if you wanna ride a car with a fancy shape but 20 yrs old keep showing problems.

I am 87 years old and between the rough ride and now this starting problem, Im very upset that I have to fight to get my money back. This should be a recall item. What do we do? In March, we had an engine issue with our 2015 Sonata that has less than 8000 miles... It started with the clicking sounds that we hear whenever we hit the accelerator. We brought it to a local dealer. They took 2 weeks to fix the issue. When I asked about if it was all fixed and all was good to go, the dealer said yes and that we shouldnt have any future issues with it. Within 4 days from picking up the fixed car, we start hearing the clicking sound again. We brought it back to the same local dealer to be fixed. Within 3 days of dropping off the car, we received a phone call from the regional manufacturer representative to ask about our vehicle and if the car was repaired. I let her know that we actually had to bring back the vehicle for the same issue just days before she called. She gave me her number and said that she would get back to me within 24 hours with an answer to whats going to happen next. I dont hear from her... Feeling frustrated, I call her to find out whats going on. Since she told me to get in touch with her rather than the dealer, I trusted her and only called her to find out whats going on. I never hear from her... In the meantime, my husband calls their Korean Customer service number to make the complains and only told to speak with the representative who is not returning our calls. She is the one who can make anything happen. WHAT??? We even tried to call different customer service numbers but we are told that she is the one we need to speak to and no one else. Finally after dropping the car off 3 weeks prior, we receive a call from the dealer that the engineer from manufacturer came out to inspect our car and that the entire engine needed to be taken apart to see what is wrong with it. It took 2 days for this engineer to inspect it but no real answers to what is the actual issue. I finally took time off from work to go to the dealer to inspect the car and everything under the hood is taken apart and they said that it will take days to put everything back and repair the issues. While at the dealer, we manage to speak with the Service Manager who said that the manufacturer went cheap way out the first time we brought the car out and they are very interested in our car because for a new car, it is having some engine issue that they cant pinpoint too. He also said that the representative advised him that she has been in contact with us so he doesnt need to call us.Feeling disappointed and frustrated with whats happening with our new car. We tried to get in touch with the regional representative. To this day, we havent been able to speak with her and the car is fixed but the engine makes a lot of noise for a new car especially compared to my dads car that has over 200,000 miles on it and we are just disappointed with our whole experience with this dealer and the manufacturer. We cant wait to return this car when its lease expires in 2 years. Never will I ever buy another Hyundai vehicle. There are reasons why people said never buy Hyundai. Shouldve listened to them.

Now today my navigation & radio went on the car. I have made complaints to corporate Hyundai and left numerous calls with no callback. Not only do they make a poor car, their customer service is just as bad.

2007 Accent problems - Where to start. First off, Ive had nothing but issues with this car. Faulty lighting, faulty sensors even my passenger air bag doesnt work, and theyve fixed it twice now. My light still remains on. I started having car issues when my car started jerking really hard when it went into gear. I took it to the dealership and they said everything was okay. My car runs like a champ. I asked them personally. Did you check my transmission? They said yes, everything is fine. I called a week later because I still was feeling the kick in my transmission. They said they never checked my transmission last time I was in. I feel I was lied to. Also, apparently, there was a recall on my car for several faulty wiring issues. I was never informed about this. I just found out in 2012 when this recall happened in 2009. Also, I got into a car accident. It was not my fault. Ive had my car took in twice for an alignment, window fixed 3 times. Also, my axle was affected in this wreck. They did not tell me this until I took it to someone else and they told me that my axle was messed up due to my car being hit. Hyundai never fixed it. Ive had something lose moving around under my car ever since the accident and they are still saying there is nothing wrong with my car and refuse to fix it. I plan on getting this car fixed then trading it in. Ive paid way too much money for things that were under warranty and should have been fixed the first time. I will never again purchase a car from Hyundai.

I would like to highlight that I have a very bad experience with the quality of tyres Verna is using. Verna was one the cars I always wanted and finally one year back I bought it. However, I did not know that it uses some bad quality tyres. I was travelling from Indore to Pune on 2nd June 2019, when the tyre (Front Left side) of my car (Hyundai verna SX (O)) got burst and I had near escape from death. My spouse got hurt on her head and eyes. I was driving at a speed of maximum 50kmph, as it was a single road, between Rajgurunagar and Chakan. The Front Tyre (left side) suddenly got burst. On contacting the service management of Hyundai and Hankok (tyre manufacturer/dealer), they said it is a cut on the side wall and its not a fault of tyre and denied my request of replacing it. My point is such expensive and big cars who can run at around 140kmph, should have such bad quality tyres and risk life of the customers. OR, should they provide any better reliable and trusted brand. For instance, even I say, there was an impact on tyre, should the tyre easily gets burst. I have another car - Chevrolet Beat and used Bridgestone, MRF for last 10 years not. Have gone on potholes on highways on speed as fast as 100kmp, but never had this experience. This clearly shows the quality of tyres.

I purchased a 2020 Sonata Ltd 1.6 Turbo in March 2020. Since day one the engine has had a burning smell and I’m wondering how many other Sonata owners are dealing with this. I’ve taken the car in 5 times. They’ve done pressure checks for leaks, reached out to other Hyundai service centers and gone over the car with a fine tooth comb without finding the problem. I reached out to Hyundai Consumer Affairs who basically told me to live with it. So I’m asking, if there are any other 2020 Sonata owners with this problem, don’t let the service center tell you the smell will go away because it won’t. Call their Consumer Affairs at 1-800-633-5151 and lodge a complaint. I paid almost $40k for a car that I can’t even park in my garage because the smell is so bad and Hyundai wont address my problem. Also, if you’re thinking of buying a Sonata be sure to turn it on, raise the hood and put your nose down near the radiator. If you smell that burning coolant, WALK AWAY!! So so disappointed in Hyundai.
