Hyundai Creates Gesture-Controlled Door Handle With Cutting-Edge SomaCap Sensors

Hyundai is looking to reinvent the way humans interact with vehicles and has recently unveiled a concept for a gesture-controlled door handle.
rnThe automaker has teamed up with tech company Somalytics and has utilized the firm's new SomaCap capacitive sensor that it says will "allow consumer product manufacturers and developers to advance the human experience with the Internet of Things."rnSomaCap sensors are rather clever and can detect a human at up to 7.87 inches. They're made out of carbon nanotube-infused paper and could improve the way humans interact with machines in the future.
"The possibilities of our sensor technology are limitless for automotive as well as other industries and applications," said Somalytics CEO Barbara Barclay. "It's incredibly exciting to see the potential for this amazing breakthrough technology come to life in these kinds of demonstrations, and we look forward to future collaboration opportunities with Hyundai." And if you're fearful that this will be yet another unnecessary feature that will push prices up, think again. What's more, it can be planted in materials as small as 0.03 inches.
At first glance, it may sound like a gimmick, but the technology could prove useful in certain situations. Take the COVID-19 pandemic as an example. People who travel in ride-share cars or taxis were forced to touch strange door handles on a day-to-day basis. This concept may reduce the risk of spreading germs through contact.
But let's look at this on a more practical level. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV has aerodynamic, flush-fitting door handles to maximize travel range. We bought a 2012 Sonata Hybrid and have had nothing but grief with the 17 tires and aluminum rims. We have not owned the vehicle a year and have had to have 2 of the rims replaced along with the tires. Just the rim itself costs $500 and the bumper to bumper warranty does not cover a penny of it. The first time, I hit a pothole and ruined the rim and tire. I was stranded at 5:00 in the morning on a country road until the towing company could arrive. Total cost was over $700.Second time was yesterday when nothing was hit but the tire began leaking air on a trip from Arkansas to Denver. I was stranded in the middle of the night in Kansas. The nearest Hyundai dealership was 106 miles away. The cost will be again over $700 and no dealership carries the rim in stock. It must be ordered so I had to leave the car and get a rental. Total cost will be $700 for rim and tire, $89.00 for a hotel room, another $140 for a rental car one way. Im very disappointed, especially when Hyundai just says, Oh well, there is nothing we can do.Also, were having issues with the Navigation unit. We will start the car and the navigation unit and radio will be on but there is no sound. If I stop the car and start it again, it will work. I have taken it in twice for service with no resolution. Hyundai says they dont know what is wrong. A message comes across the screen saying, Battery Discharge Warning, and Hyundai says they have no answers. Also the car hesitates when you push the pedal down to accelerate. Once again, Hyundai says there is nothing that can be done. Im very disappointed in the car. Beware and research before purchasing this vehicle. Hyundai also does not have mud flaps that can be purchased for the hybrid model. Snow and ice packs in wheel wells are causing dangerous driving conditions. BEWARE, BEWARE, BEWARE!!!
Ive leased many cars over the years, but never have I had a more negative experience than I had with Hyundai Finance. There was, apparently an end-of-lease termination charge (unrelated to the condition of the vehicle, purely an administrative/profit charge) that was identified in the very small print at the end of my lease agreement. When I turned in the vehicle along with the inspection report that showed no damage and no charges, I inquired whether there was anything owed and was told no, youre good to go.I never received an invoice of any kind from Hyundai indicating that there was a balance due following the termination of my lease agreement (5/31/2018). I was unaware that there was a balance due until my bank notified me that there had been an adverse credit report on Experian. While Hyundai called my home and left several voicemails, they failed to indicate the reason or purpose of their calls and I assumed, since my lease was over and the car had been returned, that they were sales/promotional related calls, similar to the hundreds of other such calls I receive that go unanswered. Hyundai had the capability to take direct draws on my account during the lease period. I received an email communication from Hyundai on May 1, 2018 stating that my financial obligation was complete and that the payment schedule was being deleted at Hyundai’s request.Following return of the lease vehicle, Hyundai shut down access to my online account with them; consequently I could not log-in to see details about any balance due. Although I had previously updated my address of record on the Hyundai Finance website, Hyundai apparently contacted my prior employer and sent notifications to my prior employers address, rather than contact me at my home address. As I was no longer an employee there, my former employer did not act on these communications other than to inform Hyundai Finance that I was no longer an employee.After seeing the adverse entry on my credit report, I contacted Hyundai to inquire what was going on. That is when they suddenly informed me that there was a past due amount. I informed them that I had never received an invoice and was unable to look at my account online because they had closed it and requested that they fax the invoice to me. As soon as I received the invoice, it was paid in-full within 48 hours.The people who I spoke with at Hyundai were rude and unprofessional and completely devoid of any sense of customer service orientation. They didnt care at all that I had never received the invoice. Despite explaining in detail what had happened, they refused to do anything to correct the adverse credit rating report that was fully their own administrative failure! My advice to anyone purchasing or leasing a Hyundai vehicle -- work with your own bank and stay completely away from Hyundai Finance. You will regret ever having established a business relationship with them.
I own a Tucson ix35, I am very happy with the car to the point that I wanted to change my old one for a new Tucson. My disappointment started after I took it to the shop because of a hesitation problem. It was a Friday, at first I was attended adequately. They asked my phone to call me the next day (Saturday) to inform me what the car needed to solve the problem. They never called me until I showed up on Monday in the shop to see what the problem was. They have not even touched the car and they were surprised to see me there, at 3:00 p.m. I received a call telling me that the price was approximately 360 u.s.d because they did not know if other parts were faulty, showing that they have not checked the car professionally and technically to what I said to suspend the work.When I appeared to take my car, the person in charge tried to give me a not convincing explanation for the delay with a not very friendly attitude. After he was asked about report a serious shop is supposed to give the customers before delivering the car, the guy said Do you know what a check up is? and urged me to pay 39 u.s.d. My son was about to react but I signaled to calm down. I did not say a word, paid the bill and left the shop. The car was as dirty as I left (I do not know if they do not have any more the policy of delivering a clean car or simply the 39 dollars I paid are not worth it). Anyways the summary is: I as a customer feel mistreated and I am seriously reconsidering the possibility to buy another Hyundai. Take this information of my bad experience to try to improve the quality of the service. My best regards.
After an engine recall of our Sonata, we had to use our own money to rent a car to replace the car for over 90 days. We have been promised our $800 plus many times but every time we call to inquire where money is, we are getting the run around that corporate needs more doc??? Total crooks who have made our experience so bitter, that would never recommend buying or dealing with low life company.
They repaired the throttle sensor on my 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe on 06-27-12. I did not notice that the hood latch did not work after until I went to have my battery checked the first part of 08/2012. At that time, I called them about it. The man, who was my service tech, did not say much. I took it to my dealer the last of August to have some work done. They told me that it would cost $119.00 to repair it. I feel that West Broad Hyundai of Richmond should repair or pay my dealer for the work. The latch cover on the inside of the car had to be taken off in order to open the hood. You now have to pull the wire to open the hood.
After having a HORRIBLE experience with the Hyundai of North Charleston Dealership in North Charleston, SC (See my review there also) my car was fixed after 3 WEEKS and I was left without having any vehicle for work. I am in sales and work in the field where an automobile is a NECESSITY! Thats why I bought NEW for dependability! My car was still under warranty and only needed a battery & starter (this took 3 weeks). I only had 39k miles.Hyundai customer care REFUSED to pay for a rental car for me and the dealership said NO loaners were available. I was only able to rent a car for 2 days and submitted paperwork for reimbursement and was only offered $150 for the rental when I had to pay almost $300 for the rental for 2 days on an economy size car! Hyundai would not even offer the FULL amount for my 2 DAY RENTAL! Wow! I was told that if I rented a car...Hyundai would reimburse me and turns out this was another MAJOR Letdown from this whole Hyundai ordeal!Its a very good thing (only 1 out of this whole story) that I was not able to rent a car for the 3 weeks...because I would have not gotten ALL my $$ back which would have been a DOUBLE loss of money $$ for me being out of work for 3 weeks AND not having received a FULL Rental car reimbursement! I totally feel disrespected and was treated like my business was of VERY LITTLE VALUE to them. This was my 2nd Hyundai purchase...but after this ordeal...I am DONE with Hyundai...the corporate office seems to be WORST than this dealership! Nobody seems to care in this company as a whole except SELLING you their CAR! :-( RUUNNN!!!! Very Disgruntled Loyal Hyundai Customer,Sybil
With less than 600 miles on my new Equus, it is in the shop because of a failed valve cover gasket, so I am told. It obviously was leaking when I bought it, as the very next morning, I was cleaning up oil drips from my garage floor. Because I bought it from a dealer some distance from my home, they could not see the evidence of oil leakage and opined that I was seeing air conditioner condensate from a drain line in the vicinity of the area I described as the problem area. After a few more days, and a trip I already had committed to, I got my local Hyundai dealer to pick it up and take a look. They called back and claiming to be astounded, confirmed that the fluid was indeed oil and was coming from a leaking valve cover gasket. I really like the car, but am not the least happy that I now have a vehicle whose engine has had to be repaired, though not the real guts of the machine. Still, as what is held out as their super luxury, top-of-the-line vehicle, this is a pretty damning circumstance. Who was asleep on the production or parts supply line? Anyone else have similar engine quality issues? I have not heard back because the parts must be ordered and then installed. Stand by. SO far, I havent been able to judge the service response.
Hyundai Veloster 2012 - This vehicle caught fire while I was driving (rear bumper, passenger side). It was deemed a total loss. I lost all the money I put towards the car just to have nothing to show for it at the end. I could have been injured and was severely inconvenienced. Not to mention the stress that befell me during this time. I opened a claim with Hyundai motors. Not only did they NOT find what went wrong, but they only offered to pay my insurance deductible. This vehicle was always seen at a Hyundai dealership and had an extended warranty. My advice to anyone shopping for a vehicle; is to forego Hyundai, not only are they fire hazards, but they depreciate at an immense rate.
I just like to have a horrible nightmare story with my Hyundai Sonata 2005 in last 2 years. I desperately need your legal helps, suggestions and comments. On 02/22/2012, My Sonata 2005 just past 70,914 Miles and I was suggested by young guy name ** to change my Timing Belt and etc. I spent $967.43 to let Lehigh Valley, PA Hyundai Service Center done the job. At that point, my car just have a tire issue. After 2 weeks, I hear some noise when I first time start car. I called **. He told me because it’s new belt and Id better to tolerant it. At April, I still hear noise and little bit loud. I call them again. They let me left the car with them several days. They wrote it down as they cant find any problem and adjust timing belt little. They sold me about annual State Inspection package this time. After that, I changed Spark Plug and Engine Oil with top line product myself in the same year. I always use Hyundai Genuine Oil and Air Filters once day one and do this maintenance job myself when I purchased the car as brand new one. I tolerant this problem several months and called them again. They still tell me the same answer. I was so busy for my job and life. I cant always let them keep my car for several days to find nothing.On 04/08/2013 at 88,055 miles, I hear a belt broken sound while I am driving on I-78 and engine is completely shut down. I called them ask for road assistant and was told to paid for towing or solve myself. I managed myself to get their place. They told me that I have to pay myself for the repairs. After several days, they called and informed me that they found the engine was broken. They will cover for these repairs. In last year, I already talk to totally different Manager and Service Reps. They also told me that they had difficult to find replace engine. Until 05/01/2013, I was called for the job done.I changed engine oil with Hyundai Genuine Oil Filter and 5 Gallon Castrol High Mileage 10W40 myself last summer. And I wish I can keep this car for another 5 years. However, I notice in Nov. the oil check light sometimes flashing in an barely occasion while I drive on highway ramp and stop at traffic. Im NOT pay too much attention about this issue. I know if I call them, they will keep my car for several days and find nothing. Thats about their service and skills.Last month of 8th, I try to pull my car from heavy snow in dark evening and the car start as normal and was NOT working after several times back and forth to pull out. With several light on, I can start the car at all. I give up my efforts to drive car out in that evening. I called my job off in second morning and try to start it again. It was OK and out of from the snow. I immediately drive to LV Hyundai Service Center and notice that the engine check light is solid ON while I stop at traffic. They call me afternoon and tell me they cant find any engine oil in my car and the engine is broken again and ask me about engine oil and filter purchase receipts. I usually dont keep these small purchase receipt for my normal life. However, I can show them my a couple of old replacement Hyundai Genuine Oil Filters in my garage. I bring two used filter and one air filter. I argue with them NO CAR should running under engine oil while my gas tank is 80% full. Your engine has a big design defect. You should repair or replace it again under your all your warranty claims and consumer protection laws. I talk to them back and forth several time already. They still refuse to do so. I dont have my car for more than one month. Please help me if you all can. Thank you very much in advance.
2005 XG350 - Over the 7 years we have owned this car, we have been in for service on the airbag light around 10 times. During our warranty period, the dealer always had a quick fix and would reset the airbag light. Well 2 months after the air warranty expired and I should note only 50k miles in 5 years, they amazingly found the problem! It would only cost us $3,200 to repair! We fought with Hyundai and they repaired the problem, or so we thought! Now one year later the other seats airbag has the same problem! Why does Hyundai play with safety? These cars should have been recalled!
I recently purchased a Hyundai Elantra 2013 two weeks back. After one week, the navigation system voice stopped working and it does not detect my phone too via bluetooth. There is also some burning smell I get when I drive. I paid almost $30,000 for this car with the high rate of interest and it is a brand new car, which I purchased from the dealership. I feel cheated and hurt as it has been heavy on my pocket and I am not satisfied with the car. I would want it to be replaced with a new good model as I did not pay so much money for a faulty car with parts which were not pretested. The navigation system not working in barely 2 weeks is a big surprise to me. As a customer, I feel the service has been pathetic and I would not recommend Hyundai to my friends and anyone else.
After having a 2016 Hyundai Veloster and having issues with oil consumption we are being told that due to sludge in the motor and supposedly we are needing a new motor that warranty will not cover a replacement and we are expected to be out of pocket $9400. This is absolutely ridiculous and was told by Consumer Affairs that there was no number for corporate who made the final decision to decline our case. Very unprofessional and no way to do business! This is the true definition of loophole! The car is still under the 100,000 or 10 year warranty!! I will be pursuing other resources and what I have to do about this! The ball was dropped and Hyundai doesnt care. They found a way out of doing the warranty work!
I was told that I would get towed within an hour. I called 2 times to see why they hadnt showed up. Each time they said it would be another hour. 3 1/2 hours later the tow truck arrived. He said that he just received the call. I asked if AAA would have been quicker, and he said yes that I would have gotten help right away.
In August 2015, I purchased a 2015 Hyundai Tucson in 2015. I have had all routine maintenance done and the car has 86,000 miles on it. No mechanic has ever told me of any engine issues or potential engine issues. Two weeks ago, I was driving home at 10:00 PM. Without warning, my engine seized and my car stalled in the middle of a very busy, dangerous intersection. Thanks to the assistance of my father and a good Samaritan, I was able to get my car out of the road and I was able to get safely home. However, this had the potential to be extremely dangerous for myself and other drivers on the road.I took my car to a local Hyundai dealership and I was told by a certified Hyundai mechanic that I would need a new engine. I immediately contacted the Hyundai Customer Care Center and I was told that because I am not the original owner, they will not honor the 10-year/100,000 mile warranty. I was told they might honor the limited warranty, but I would need to come up with records of every oil change I have had on the car. Other than that, they have been of no assistance to me. I am beyond frustrated and furious at this point. This is not an issue of user error, this is clearly a defect on the part of the manufacturer and they should be the ones resolve the problem. I consider myself an informed consumer, and I would not have purchased this car if I had known this was a possibility.
In 2006, I bought a used 2004 Hyundai accent automatic from Thrifty Car rental. I had the car checked through by Hyundai and they confirmed it was in perfect shape. About 6 months ago, shifting became very hard and sometimes the transmission would refuse to shift gear even if I had shifted it with the clutch. Problems got worse. I took it to Hyundai for a diagnostic test and was told it needed a new transmission which would cost $3,000.00. As the car is so old, I opted for a used transmission and took it to a shop where my husband had his transmission replaced. By now, it is 3 transmissions later, 1 computer later and the car has been in the 2nd shop for 2 weeks with a highly recommended transmission expert and it is not working. I sent 2 emails to Hyundai last week and never received an answer. I called today, on 9/23/2011, and after some back and forth, I was told that there is no recall and that they could not help me with the car. In the meantime, I checked online and found a lot of people complaining about transmission issues with exactly that 2004 car. Pages and pages, so there obviously is an issue. My son, who is learning to be a car mechanic and therefore has access to information we normal people do not, also found information on major issues with that years transmission. Yet Hyundai insists, there is no campaign on it, so there is nothing wrong on their end. I have been driving Hyundai since 1996 and loved that car, that is why I bought another one in 2004 but that car is proving to be quite a problem. Hyundai is certainly shattering my opinion of them.
I bought the car in November of 2010, and its been a bad experience since having thought of buying the new car from Hyundai. My car has been taken four times for A/C problems to Hyundai, but still the same problem persists. Secondly, the car is has started to get rusty within nine months time, and there was no one from Hyundai to talk to with authority.
I bought this car when it was 3 yrs old and had it for 2 yrs. I noticed the engine took a long time to start and just got worst. When I took it in for a service they found the head gasket had blown. This is on a 5 yr old car! Whats worse is the warranty had just run out by a couple of weeks. I rang up Hyundai but they wouldnt repair it under warranty or goodwill since it just run out. You dont expect a head gasket to blow on a car this age. This is more common on very old cars with high mileage. Considering this is a very unusual thing to happen and with its warranty just run out you would expect Hyundai to fix it for me or at least pay some of the cost. The cost to fix it is just under a £1000 and the car is only worth £5000 :(
I have been a customer of Hyundai for over 5 years, I recently had a bad oil leak on my IX20 which I had bought from new. They explained that the repair would be done under warranty and that a courtesy car would be provided. Unfortunately thats where the problems started. Hyundai courtesy car insurance only cover people between the age of 21 to 69 so it was suggested that I add the courtesy car to my insurance but when I contacted my insurance company that told me that they could not insure a car that is already insured. My car will take three days to repair. The suggestion given by my insurance company and the Hyundai dealer is that I hire a car to cover the 3 days. It seems Im being penalised for a Hyundai manufacturing failure.
Recall was done improperly. Fuel line replacement. Called cust service, was told it would taken care of, but has to go to a dealer and did so. Car was there for 15 days. Nothing done!! Even told them I will pay for repair. Still nothing. 10 days sat at dealer. Finally had to have it towed out to another facility for the repair. Hyundai motor company is a joke and I intend to see this through.
I do not understand, and I will try to summarize my experience so as to save everyone the grief of reading an extensive unpleasant experience. In short, I have leased with Hyundai since I was 20 years old. I am 24 now, and this car (so am on my second lease now) is one of the biggest regret of my young adult life. For my previous leased vehicle, I was hit with a bill of nearly 5,000 dollar, which a very big chunk of that money did not apply to my actual balance since I continued to lease with them. After the proper deductions, my bill went down to about 3,600. That is fine, except that each time I called to have a number confirmed, I received a different quote. I once called literally sobbing because I had no idea what to do, in which I was “helped” by a woman that talked over me the whole time, was terrible at explaining anything to me, and told me I could “get a second job” to try to pay for my balance. Okay. I paid the money and received a voicemail (not very clear to make out what it said) saying something about my balance. I called back to try to get back to that person, had their extension and everything to confirm that they received my payment, and literally spent 20 mins on the phone with someone, intermittently getting put on hold, only to be told they could not find the extension or the balance I was speaking of. I finally have let it go and assumed that they received my payment. This is the gist of that experience. Today, I called because I am having trouble with the radio playing over the music I am streaming, so I called to get help. The lady on the phone said “we don’t help with that, I can give a number of you have anything to write down” and I said that I was driving, asked if I could get forwarded to the proper place. So she forwarded my call, and a lady answered and I could not hear or understand her at all. Finally, she spoke closer and I could hear her louder but still not well. I explained my problem, she said “yeah we don’t help with that” so I told her I was forwarded and didn’t know what to do. She literally said “thank you have a nice day” and hung up. HUNG UP. I was mid sentence and baffled and honestly, I am starting to figure things out on my own whenever I have a problem with my Hyundai vehicle, because customer service has been so incredibly unhelpful, rude, and appalling to interact with, honestly. It’s so shameful, and I am not sure if this is normal? Do other vehicle companies do this to their customers? I am planning to purchase my current vehicle so I will be with Hyundai for a long time, which sincerely fills me with dread and I am starting to feel resentful. This has been a terrible experience since the start, and I don’t call anymore to spare myself the stress of interacting with these people. I don’t even have the words. Just absolutely terrible.
I been having Warranty Issues since I bought my 2010 Elantra . Starting out with failing Brake Lights to causing misfire and to end it the EPS. When going to the Dealership for the engine issue, I had been told I have water leaking into my cylinder that needs to be cleaned out due to my car not having the engine light on. The same day the car had seemed to misfire and the engine light came on. I drove to the first Auto repair shop I saw and they run the diagnostic and it showed a code. They told me the issue was under warranty and I should bring it to the Dealership. I asked if they could clean the grease out a little so it would stop jerking. They did. I took it ten miles down the road to the Dealership and left it with them. Next day, they called me and told me all I had is some water in my cylinder and that it wasnt covered by warranty. So when I got to the dealership, he showed me the bill what was even more as that from the repair shop to fix the gasket. They explained to me they couldnt pull a code and the code given by me to them wasnt making any sense. So I took my car to Firestone and had them look into the so-called water in my cylinder. As they they couldnt find any water anywhere. Long story short, they didnt honor the warranty at all. Now the EPS seems to be failing and Hyundai expect the code to to read in order to honor the warranty. Well Dear Hyundai, the EPS dont stay on and you cant pull a code because no one be able to drive with the EPS out to the dealership so they can see the light is on. So again another bill on the Buyer cause Hyundai. So what Im trying to say is buying a Hyundai is a waste of money. They also stated what I called and complained, You dont have any Oil Changes on file with the dealership. Really I never had any issues with my VW when I took it to the Dealership about anything. And they did listen to the customers concerns and try to help and not send you out with issues that they didnt want to fix under warranty.This was my first and last Hyundai I had Purchased.
I leased a car for 3 years. According to the sales person, he told me that the service on the car would be included during the lease period but that wasn’t the case. It seems that he just said those things to make a sell since he was being very pushy from the start. The worst part is that he never disclaimed that by the end of the lease, I would be charged $500 plus $170 for some minor scratches that can occur during a 3 year period.When I returned the vehicle they basically force you to keep making business with them by leasing or buying a new car and that’s the only way they can forgive that $500 fee. When I called to claim, they told me that the contract is not with the dealer but with the company; even though it was signed at the dealer. They also don’t accommodate payment arrangements. Before leasing a car with companies like this, do some research and find what is convenient for you. Instead of dealing with a seller who would say anything just to get his commission and take advantage of you, if you don’t have experience in the subject.
My fiancé and I purchased a 2013 Genesis 2.0. Motor keeps failing and they refuse to help even though the motor is under warranty. Our car is constantly misdiagnosed on purpose just so they don’t have to pay for a new motor. Already discussing the issue with lawyers. Save yourself the stress and heartache, do NOT buy a car from Hyundai.
At 61000 miles, my power steering on my 08 Elantra failed - told by dealer service the sensor had to be replaced but since sensor so embedded within steering column, the only way to fix was to replace whole column. Because car was 1k miles over warranty, Hyundai would not cover - they paid half. Fast forward to today - just 40k miles later, power steering failed again. I cant afford the cost for Hyundai service to fix again. This is also not the only repeat problem Ive had with the car. Wondering if I have a lemon or if there is a different problem causing the sensor to fail. Reported to Hyundai - they wont do anything for me since they helped with the cost last time. Dealer told me they have never heard of anything like this and they say there is nothing they can do without approval from Hyundai corporate. Guess Im stuck with a car I cant drive. Hate companies that dont stand behind their product.
I bought Hyundai Sonata 2011 less than 3year. Now upon reach 90,000 miles it started giving me problem. Each month different problem until 100,000 miles then the main engine pack off. Please stay away from HYUNDAI products. I and my beloved ones will never go it Hyundai product anymore.
Car has been reliable. Good fuel consumption -- diesel. Reverse never engaged smoothly. Needed to replace automatic transmission at 180,000 kms. They dont make cars like they use to – sold my Subaru at 320,000 without any of these problems.
They have exaggerated mileage claims. Hyundai refused to help with my complaint about their claims of 30 mpg (city) and 40 mpg (highway) on my 2012 Elantra. I have yet to get 28 mpg while driving as economically as possible.
VIN # **. We recently returned a leased 2016 Tucson, the lease was for 3 years. A letter from Hyundai, dated 13 June 2019, stated that we owed over $1100 on this Tucson. The main cause of this costs is apparently a very small, about a 1 inch “star” chip in the left headlight area. To most people the car looked almost new. If this charge stands you have a VERY dissatisfied customer. Before this outlandish charge you had a very satisfied customer.
We have spent close to $5,000.00 in repairs on this car (in and out of warranty) and spent 83 days taking the car in for different parts that were breaking. We contacted Hyundai about all of the problems with the car and all they offered was a coupon instead of some kind of refund or part of it. We have over 30 pages of repair work.
I have the Hyundai Sonata 2011 that was manufactured in Alabama between Dec 11, 2009 and April 12, 2012 part of the recall campaign 132. Prior to this my Sonatas motor seized up and stopped work with only 60K miles and at that time the company did not want to honor the warranty and also gave me a very hard time about the loaner so much that I had to rent a car myself. I later contacted someone at the corporate office in CA and finally received a full refund. Now my motor goes out with no warranty at 154K miles. Send the car to my mechanic for repairs. Out of pocket 15.000+ only to find out that there was nothing left but to replace the motor according to my VIN number. This is what Hyundai motors said and was also told that money I spent would be reimburse in 90 days. Well its been 100 + days without even a courtesy call?
Although a 6 speed manual, 2 door car might not be everyones cup of tea, I really like this 3.8 L/350 HP coupe. It runs very easily in traffic and has plenty of capability when given a clear road to play on. I have had no significant complaints in the 42,000 miles I have driven it and Hyundai have covered every little issue that I have had. Warranty and service are great but gas consumption isnt!
Hi, I bought a used 2005 Elantra with 28 thousand miles on it in 2008. About a year later (approx. 38K mileage), the airbag light came on when a passenger was in the front seat. The dealer said it was a recall item and gave me a rental while the seat was sent off to Ca for repairs. Within a year, the airbag light was coming on again intermittently when a passenger was sitting in the front seat (mid 40K mileage). The dealer said their was nothing they could do about it without seeing the light on. So every now & then when the light was on I was sidetracked to the dealership, but the light would go out before reaching them. Finally, last year the light stayed on long enough for the dealer to see it on. Thats when I was told the light did not need to be on to report the problem, but now the warranty had expired and I would have to pay for the repair! I reminded them about telling me the light had to be on and they played dumb like they never said it. Well, after a complaint to the manager they agreed to fix it for free as a goodwill gesture. Here we are about a year later (57K miles) and the airbag light stays on most of the time now.I called Hyundai USA to see what should be done as I have lost faith in the dealership. I am afraid they will simply unplug the airbag and I would never know! Hyundai USA in Ca. said I need to take it to the dealer and pay for a car inspection before they could look into the case. What can I do about this safety issue? Do I have a legitimate case for legal action against Hyundai USA or the dealership? PS: all I want is to know that the front passenger airbag will work in the event of an accident.
I was just recently in an accident and I was going 40 miles an hour when the accident occurred and the other lady was going around 30 mph, and at the speeds both of us were going, the airbags in my 2005 Hyundai Elantra did not deploy. How hard does a person have to be hit for the bags to deploy? I think this car is one of the cheapest made cars. I can remember when I got caught in a hell storm, the body on my car was beat up really bad. I wont do Hyundai any car again, I dont care how they look.
Hyundai claims to have Americas best warranty but if you read the fine print youll find out otherwise. Three of the five cars Ive owned as an adult have been Hyundai cars. I liked the warranty and the service, however I have never once with all the servicing Ive had on my cars had their warranty cover anything. Recently I had a transmission problem on my car and I found out that not only am I not covered for 100,000 miles or 10 years as they like to advertise, Im not even covered for 60,000 or 5 years. My car has about 56,000 miles on it and they are not covering anything at this point.Hyundai loves to advertise their amazing 100,000 or 10 year power train warranty, but that only applies to the original owner. The second someone else owns the car it drops down to almost half the mileage (60,000) or 5 years, whichever comes first. It wouldnt be as infuriating if they had not been so vocal about their warranty the whole time. They told me over and over again about the coverage and how great the warranty is. The second youre outside the life of the warranty though things will start falling apart. Its happened with every Hyundai Ive owned. This is the last Hyundai I will ever own.
I have been a Hyundai customer for many years. Fortunately, I have only had to call for roadside assistance a couple of times. They were courteous and prompt. Even when I had some personal technical difficulties, they were patient and understanding. They did follow up calls to make sure that the service was satisfactory and complete. Very organized and very professional.
We purchased a Hyundai Elantra in 2009 hoping to get at least 100,000 miles value, but to my disappointment the transmission went after 75,000 miles thankfully was still under warranty. 10,000 miles later the motor in the power steering has gone, which when we went to dealer they informed us the 10yr/100,000 mile warranty does not cover this only transmission & engine, so their bumper to bumper warranty is false. Our personal mechanic has informed us that this is happening frequently. Why has there been no safety re-call? Does some tragedy have to occur before this is a safety recall?
I purchased a new Hyundai Elantra with hands-free bluetooth . We cannot use it because our cell phone will not stay paired to it.Hyundai cannot tell us what cell phones are compatible and can offer no solution to the problem. Spoke with dealer and Hyundai . Seems they have a system which can’t be used..
I got a flat on my new 2015 Sonata Hybrid. Called roadside assistance and they told me I had to have it towed to the nearest Dealership. I thought it had something to do with it being a Hybrid but it turns out that the cars dont have spares, they have inflation kits. Going to the dealer is normally not a problem but it was SUNDAY!!!!!! I told the person at Roadside that but it didnt seem to faze her. The nearest dealership was my only option. So now my car is stuck there overnight and I miss a days work because I work 35 miles away. If they brought me home I could have had it fixed. If they brought me to Pep Boys or any tire place I could have had it fixed. They need to get their heads out of their butts over there. Ill be getting AAA to avoid the expense of Free Roadside Assistance.
My car died. Dead battery before 2 years. Took it to Hyundai. They said I was 5,000 miles over the mileage and would not pay for a new battery. The service department says in a Goodwill request for Sunday to pay for it and they denied it. Ive contacted Hyundai consumer affairs, ask them to please do something about it then call this meeting 2 years old and then the night everything also so he does not take care of their customers.
The fuel pump on my 2009 Sonata, bought on 5/30/2009, went bad stranding me away from home. Even though car is less than three years old, at 70,000 miles, I was told is was out of warranty. Rental car cost me $120; tow cost me $72; fuel cost me $350; labor cost to install cost $200. Total cost is $772 for a car I am still paying $300 a month on. It needs better design so fuel pump lasts and make access to fuel pump better so whole gas tank doesnt have to be removed. I had an Elantra for eight years then traded up to Sonata. I will not buy another Hyundai after this experience. For a car and brand that touts reliability, this issue (I understand it has happened many times) is unacceptable.
I should have known better. I was a career car reporter, now retired, and I had seen first-hand the quality issues with Hyundai. But reviews like those in Consumer Reports convinced me things had changed, so I purchased a new Elantra GT in Canada in 2005 with a 5-year warranty. As I was retired, the car sat in the driveway mainly and that was part of the problem. More mileage would have unveiled the problems quicker. As delivered from the dealer, a brake light was missing and the alignment was off. I had my own mechanic fix these at my cost. I also had the car rust-proofed with oil spray as Korean steel is known to rust quickly. (Did not help, door seams and hatch rusted anyway.) Engine head gasket failed within 3 months and dealer botched the repair. I complained to Hyundai Canada and the engine was taken apart a second time, repair done correctly but the engine pinged after that, meaning that the compression ratio had been altered in the repair. Mirrors froze but I fixed the controller myself with WD40. Radio died, I upgraded it. Brakes vibrated but I fixed it myself with custom rotors rather than fight the dealer. Finally, dealer went under and disappeared. A month after the warranty expired, so did my steering rack. 25,000 miles on the car in 5 years and the rack blew. My mechanic put a new one for $1,700 in and that lasted 3 months. Extensive research on the net in chat groups and I found blown racks a common problem in the model. And the replacements fail because, allegedly, they are stored outdoors in Korea and the seals dry out. I sued Hyundai in Small Claims. Did they send a lawyer? No. Did they try to settle or fix the car? No. They sent the head of the central (head office) Parts Dept. who lied under oath to the judge about my attempts to resolve the issue. I won, but got rid of the car. Trade in for a 5-year old 2005 Elantra GT with 25000 miles, new brakes, new Michelins, upgraded radio, and needing a rack? $3,000. (Paid $20,000 five years earlier). Ugh.
I really enjoyed our Hyundai Sonata 2006.... We had the usual problems/recall issue with the airbags in 2013... At about 45,000 to 50,000 miles... many electrical problems. Apparently at some point without being disclosed to us when we bought it, our vehicle was a rental. At some point liquid was spilled into the console which caused electrical damage to the car under the front dashboard (car would not start - no crank - damage to body control module), so the dealership said. We didnt spill anything and this didnt happen till 5 months after we bought it. Either corrosion takes that long or there was something else going on. Never saw this supposed damage. Cost: $500.Shortly after that repair (16 days)... the drivers door would only unlock, internal BCM problems again. Go figure... no charge to repair. At 50,000 miles (Sept 2008) the Check Engine light would come on, cruise control inop., ESC and ABS light on. Cause: code c1513 brake switch failure (just read today that at some point that was a recall - had no idea - 1-9-14 so decided to share my story with others). They replaced the switch. N/C, but for some reason I noticed they did charge for 2 brake lights and labor $65. Most likely they were fine and it was the switch.Other issues.... sure seemed like the rotors/calibers rusted really fast and we changed all 4 brakes/rotors/pads etc. every year!!! Had none of these issues with our older Ford Taurus. No engine issues with the Sonata... just electrical and constant brake replacing.
2005 Hyundai Santa Fe - May 2016 I call Hyundai with concerns about my airbags not deploying and I explained everything to the lady I spoke with and was told they should have deployed. I was offered a new Hyundai. I provided all information, documentation and pictures and everything to my knowledge. I receive a letter from Hyundai consumer affairs in July saying that my case would be closed if I didnt provide information asked for. So I provided it to them at the email provided on letter. David ** called me and stated that if I sent anything else to them he would no longer speak to me and close my case. I provided again which he stated he didnt receive so I called and he wouldnt return my call.I called the number in his email asking for an address to mail the pictures and documentation to and the lady I spoke with told me that she wasnt allowed to give me that information and according to the police report that I was at fault and got what I deserved which most of my phone calls I have witnesses to which was stated because I couldnt really stand or walk so it was put on speaker and held for me. Then once all information was provided I no longer heard from David, could not get in contact with. It took months of complaints and calls which was aggravating. Then I received a call after the car had been auctioned off that I told David I had retained an attorney which was untrue and that I never signed and returned the release.So he closed my case when I provided original release and proof. I never said that which Hyundai consumer affairs had in their records. Also he called me back and said according to the pictures and documentation that the car didnt perform as it should have, that Hyundai wanted to settle to provide medical bills and all cost. This was October 2016. He said it was approved for partial coverage which he would not explain meant and then said they were leaning towards full settlement and December 1 2016 was last contact I received where David asked me what would it take to make this go away and to take in consideration that my vehicle was not equipped with side airbags.Once I proved that it was by the vehicle documentation he said, Wow okay that changes everything, that he would call me in a few days, that they were going to have a settlement offer and then called back that evening saying that he needed the police report which a month before stated it wasnt needed to proceed and even tho it was provided in july 2016. After that he would no longer return my calls or emails. I finally got one response saying they got the police report and was waiting on last sheet that goes with it that they requested nothing else. Now last week he called saying my claim was denied, that the officers statement stated that I was in vehicle not restrained and specifically that side airbags deployed even tho they already got statement from my insurance company saying they didnt and will not provide this report.I supposedly signed saying my airbags deployed and I wasnt wearing a seatbelt. I have pictures proving nothing deployed. The way this was handled and how I was treated being told from day one I got what I deserved, the constant threats to close my case, the remarks that if Hyundai felt that my case was worth it they would investigate, constantly being called a liar and the excruciating pain I was and still am in just doesnt seem right at all. I expected better treatment and respect from a company.
I own auto repair shop. Also I have a dealer license, I purchase a 2016 Hyundai Accent @ auction with 25000 miles, car runs beautiful, but we notice some weird noise when we put it in reverse. So we took it to this dealership (PRIDE HYUNDAI LYNN, MA). Long story short need a new tranny, dealership and this car company refuse to replace it because they said car was involve in an accident. Car is clean title, CLEAN CARFAX or CRASH REPORT, this F... people dont even know how a car runs. They only base everything according what a book said, STAY AWAY FROM HYUNDAI!!! THE FAMOUS 10 YEAR/100000 MILES FACTORY is a complete crap. Stay away from Hyundai!!!! For your own good.
I stumbled upon this website when reading about tires, and was surprised to see virtually every car company with such horrendous reviews. Then I realized its merely a sounding board for angry people with car troubles. I just wanted to share a little about my little 2013 Elantra GT. I bought it new, have done all maintenance in my garage, have used nothing but full synthetic oil and Hyundai brand parts (filters, etc to avoid warranty issues), and in return? Its been hands down the best car Ive ever owned. Nothing has failed in the first 3 years, 40,000 miles. No car Ive ever owned has accomplished that. It rides like its brand new, no squeaks, no rattles, no nothing. Comfortable as can be, averages 32 in the city, 36 on the highway. Ive owned many compacts in my life, none have come even close to this level of ride quality. Simply put, we love the car. Its our first Hyundai, and we would buy another in a heartbeat.And basically, this is merely a message to take everything you read online with a grain of salt. Including my review. Occasionally, youre going to get a car thats awful. I had one. 2012 Impala, kept it 9 months. It went back to the garage under warranty 11 times in those 9 months. Eventually, you just have to make a judgment call. Do you keep a car thats been nothing but problems? Or do you try something else. We now own a Hyundai and a Nissan and have been thrilled with them. Will I ever buy another Chevrolet? Sure! I just got a lemon. It happens. It totally stinks, but it happens.
I walked out to my car to find that the paint had peeled off the roof above the windshield. I took my car to the dealership and they told me it was beyond the 3 year paint warranty, it was six month past the warranty. I was told the service department would contact Hyundai directly to see if they would handle re-painting and that the service department would call me in about 4 days. I waited a week and called, no one answered so I left a message. No response from the message so I called again and was put on hold and hung up on. I called a third time and was told someone would call me. After two and a half weeks I get an email asking for pictures. After a few days of no further response, I sent a reply email about the pictures and was asked if I had filed a claim with Hyundai. How would I have known to file a claim when no one has contacted me? Russell Westbrook Hyundai use to give great service. Ive leased 3 vehicles in the last 8 years, this will be my last!
On vacation in middle of nowhere, the remote would not work, used key to get in, car alarm went off and did not stop until the fuse blew. I contacted Hyundai and was told even though I bought the remote start from the dealer and had them install it, Hyundai considers it an aftermarket part and I was responsible for the blown fuse and any other damage the remote starter would cause to the car. They have no idea what bumper-to-bumper warranty is.
My vehicle is a 2009 Atos. It is still under warranty. I waited approximately five months for a reverse light switch to be replaced; the brakes have been skimmed twice in this time due to a brake shudder. When asked if this was normal, I was told that replacing the brakes would be very expensive and that they would find out. I dealt with Lisa and Tamryn as well as other workshop staff including the w/shop manager, and they indicated that they would find out if the brake situation was normal. They still have not come back to me in this regard -- it was two weeks ago. My vehicle went in for rust removal. Since I got it back, there has been wind whistle through the windows. When I received the customer service call after the service inquiring if I was satisfied with everything, I indicated that I was not and explained in terms of the wind whistle. I still have not had any response from anyone at this dealership.
As far as I’m concerned this is an outstanding vehicle. I read everything that everybody’s got to stay on it and as far as I’m concerned it’s an awesome vehicle. It’s got a lot of power too. Only thing is mines a Vera Cruz Limited and that means parts are not that easy and you can’t get all of it over the counter at your average auto parts store. That would be the only thing.
My sons car was totaled a month ago and it was a leased vehicle. Geico was on the phone call when we called and got the lease payoff amount. We had put a large amount down at the lease signing and had made our payments. The payoff was $17242 and we negotiated with Geico for $21762.00. We were told by Hyundai finance that the overage although rare would be sent to us. A month go by and no check. I called. They said that the account would be closed on the 8th of July and a check would be sent out. Called to check on the 10th of July, today and now I am told that too bad they keep all of the proceeds and we get nothing. That is not what they said when Geico was on the phone. They have lied and changed their story so many times. I will never buy another Hyundai!
I brought a new Hyundai Sonata and it rides very rough. I told Hyundai that it rides like a wagon. I have a complaint into Hyundai and it goes in today, see what happens. Probably nothing right.
We have a new Hyundai Sonata purchased 4.31.2001. We currently have about 12,000 miles and the tires will not make it though the winter.They have been rotated as per instructions, the wear on the tires is even. Have had no satisfaction from dealer, they wanted me to rotate at 3K. Tires are Kumho Solus 94H M+S. Why should new tires on a new car not make it 20,000 miles before they have to be replaced?
I had purchased a Hyundai Veracruz from Hyundai Juma Al Majid showroom on 27th April, 2011. The vehicle is under warranty for a period of 5 years and extended warranty for 2 years. Ever since I purchased my car, there is vibration in the steering wheel and the same has not been resolved till date in spite of continuous follow-up. I had noticed on the very second day that there was some problem with the steering. It was vibrating a lot even at a speed of 60 km/hour and I reported this to Hyundai immediately. I was asked to inform the service advisor about this issue during the first 1000 km service. I had made the complaint during the first service in May 2011 (3 weeks from the date of purchase). But even after the servicing was completed (mentioning everything is done), the vibration was still there. I had again reported this and was asked to keep the car in the workshop for further checking. They had done a test drive and agreed that there was vibration. After checking, I was told that there was an issue with the tire and that it would be replaced as the car was under warranty. The report was made by the workshop engineer and after some testing, the car was returned to me in the same old condition as the issue was not resolved.Subsequently, I have placed my car with the workshop about six times for several days together (more than a week in some cases) for servicing, but the problem has not been resolved. The last time I placed my car with the workshop, I was told that all five tires have been changed and the problem has been resolved. But the problem exists at speed of over 120 km/hour. Later, I have been told that one of the tires had not been changed. I have discussed the issue with several people in the workshop, showroom and customer service in several times, but I have not received satisfactory response. I am still clueless as to what the problem with my car is and whether my service advisors are aware of what the problem relates to, as they have not been able to identify and fix the problem for the past 9 months or give me a timeline to fix the issue. I am very much disappointed with the kind of service I receive and I can make out the difference between the service provided before and after the sale. If the problem is with the tire, why is it taking such a long time to replace it with good tires? If the problem is not with tires, it has to be identified or the vehicle has to be replaced. In all this trial and error game, it’s the customer who is suffering after having spent so much money on the vehicle. This has caused a lot of mental pressure and waste of time and money.
This car has been a lemon from the day I bought it. It is dangerous. It began when I first started using the cruise control. It does not shut off correctly somehow. It will start accelerating when I am trying to stop the car or slow down! The tac will go all the way to six! I have to fight the acceleration using the brake. Shortly after purchase, when started in neutral, it lurched forward without cause, and ran into a parking barrier, denting the front. When I took it to the dealership while still under warranty, they said they could not replicate the situation, and did nothing. I argued with them and they agreed that if this situation gets fixed, it should be under warranty. I insisted they put it in writing. So I have been driving this way for quite a while, but that isnt the worst part of this. Yesterday, Sept. 30, 2013, I was driving the car when it started belching yellowish smoke. I parked it and investigated. No gauges came on. No fluid anywhere. Not overheating. I turned it off and had it towed to the dealership. It still has the drive-train warranty. Today, they told me it needs a new engine. They said the oil was really dirty and unless I can prove proper maintenance, the warranty is null. They did no further investigation after looking at the oil and that the exhaust is burnt out, too, and needs replaced. The cost would be from $8000 to $12,000. I still owe $14,000 on the car! The oil had been changed about 10,000 miles ago, which is too long, but not a reason for the motor to crater! No gauge lights up, only symptom is smoking exhaust. It was running fine when I parked it except for the smoke. This doesnt make sense to me.I will not go into detail about the other small things that have broken or quit working, like the lights, under-carriage being flimsy, moon-roof sticking, the no brake lights recall, etc... I have made a claim to the company and they are working on it. If they dont resolve this, I will report it on every social media site I can find, not to mention the hundreds of coworkers and students I have that will hear about it. Dont buy Hyundai.
When shopping around I was looking for a convenience features. Sonata Hybrid 2016 was slightly better than other midsize hybrid alternatives. Looked at all these reviews on Edmunds and similar websites. From their perspective it looks good. After one month of driving (and pretty good experience) main battery broke. Brought it to a dealership. It took already 2 days just to localize the problem. Accordingly to them it will take another 1-2 days to get an answer from Hyundai what needs to be done. This is a car on a warranty. What happens when its out. I feel Im screwed. This is a new car. Just started to pay for it.
I have a 2009 Sonata with leather seats and 56,000 miles. It’s still under the so-called bumper-to-bumper warranty. The leather on the drivers seat is cracking and peeling (the same thing happened to my 2007 Elantra). The dealer said it was a wear item and not covered by warranty. I asked them to show me where in the book does it say this, and they pointed to a short sentence that says any wear item is not covered under warranty. They told me Hyundai has a list of not covered items. I called Hyundai to complain and the first thing he said is We have an extensive list of items not covered by our warranty. Wow, it would be nice if they put this in the customers warranty information. He put me on hold, and then came back and said that seats and upholstery are not covered by any warranty, not even for one day for new vehicle. It would also be nice if they told the truth in their advertising. They use the warranty to sell their cars, but they are in fact lying about their warranty coverage.
The Hyundai Entourage minivan has been a good, reliable vehicle. We have had only a couple of very minor repairs done to it in the 10 years that we have owned it. The Entourage has a very good amount of power. It is never sluggish off the starting line. It is also an attractive looking vehicle. The thing that I liked most about this van over the other we considered purchasing is the price. It was the most affordable of all that we considered purchasing. My least favorite feature on this van is the radio. Sometimes the volume control doesnt work. If I tap the dash, I can usually get it to adjust the volume. I am only sorry that Hyundai not longer makes the Entourage as I would definitely purchase another one.
Terrible finance dept. This company can ruin your credit if you dont watch out when you trade your car in for a new one. They do not not close out old car and they ruin your credit. Even tho it is always paid on time they forgot to close old car out and they sent me to the credit bureau as bad debt actually 60 to 90 days late and I no longer have that car. They do not want to fix it. The burden is on you to fix it. This is a total disgrace that a company can ruin your credit when you have always paid on time.
I have a 2010 Hyundai genesis in the USA and my son had an accident resulting in a total los, and the airbags, none of then deployed resulting with physical injuries. Hyundai must recall these units. We are in the process to establish a legal action. In the USA, Hyundai airbags does not work. Be aware.
Bought a new 2021 Palisade to replace a 2020 Kia Soul that was a lemon, 3 transmissions after 12,000 miles. Palisade lasted 2 days, 180 miles before fuel system failed. Dealership cant get any parts from Hyundai. Hyundai is supposed to be buying the car back from us. The problem is, it is next to impossible to get any communication from Hyundai. I sent all the required documents on 2/18/2021. Was supposed to send offer immediately. Now March 1st and have heard absolutely nothing. I call and email everyday, just to see if they even received the paperwork I sent over. No one has any answers and the person handling my case never responds. Dealing with Kia was a much easier process with great communication. Yes their transmission was trash but customer service was exceptional.
Leased a vehicle and when I got the seatbelt wouldn’t work. Had to take it In, yr later AC stopped working. Car has been at dealer for 4 days and they don’t know when it will be done. No compensation, wouldn’t give me a rental nor any help from Corporate. They said they will call me back in 10 business days. They leased me a LEMON and left me hanging in every way. I do not recommend Hyundai or any of their parent companies because they don’t care about the consumer whatsoever. Worst experience of my life, never again.
My airbag in my 2004 Sonata didnt work. In the accident, I dont understand why the airbag didnt deploy, only the bag from the seat and was not even half-full. The car was totally wrecked, but not from the front at all. Somebody hit me on the front side of the car in the drivers side. I woke up in the hospital with the news that my air bag was not working. Im concerned about this. How we can do something about it?
2011 Sonata - So I got this car 2 years ago and it has been hell from the start. So I get the car and of course its used and I had 66 thousand miles on the car at purchase. And I tell you the motor mounts struts bearings needed to be replaced after 1 month of having the car. Of course I purchased an extended warranty on the car at time of purchase. So anyhow so this past week I was dealing with my engine stalling on me. I called Hyundai and they set me up with the local dealership in my area which, mind you, is not their fault my car is a piece of crap because I did not buy it from them. But the problem that I am having with Hyundai is I will be stuck without a car for 2 weeks while the car is being serviced. Nope I dont think so. So just a FYI to Hyundai you have lost a customer for life and I know one customer dont mean a thing to you because will get more customers. And I think its crap that you do not provide your customers with loaners. Im done. So long Hyundai! Trading this POS in. ✌
Purchased a 2011 Elantra with 8 miles and it just recently hit 70K miles. I have had no problems with the car at all. My driving is severe going up and down the California Grapevine on a weekly basis with no problems. Service at all 3 dealerships I have been to have always been great and as soon as the new redesigned Elantra comes out (maybe 2016 or 2017) I will be buying another one.I find it hilarious how many stupid people come on here complaining about their end of lease termination fee. Or even worse telling Hyundai that they deserve that fee be waived or for good customer service it should be waive. You people must really have a 2 digit I.Q. It doesnt matter if the leased car that you returned has only 10K miles on it or that you made every payment on time. You signed a legal contract saying that you will pay that fee! End of story! Stop the whining! If youre going to whine about something in your lease contract whine about it BEFORE you take delivery of your vehicle...if not shut the ** up!

Bought I20 fluid last year in Feb and in Nov the car was damaged by the hail. The panel beater told me that Hyundai have problems manufacturing the parts. I have been waiting for them to deliver the parts. Im even ashamed of driving it with dents.
First and last Hyundai. I came from a Toyota family, but Id heard about the progress Hyundai was making, so I purchased a brand new Hyundai Sonata (23 miles on it) in April of 2014. Fast forward to last week (March 2016) my wife experienced engine trouble with it. No check engine light or anything. But no problem, they have a 10yr/100,000 mile warranty on it, right?? WRONG! I took it in to get the engine fixed and they denied my request. They stated that based on what they saw, I didnt maintain the vehicle.Not once did they ask for my service records! (I had my car serviced more than the recommended amount...) I come to find out theres a class-action lawsuit for this very issue. They refuse to honor their warranty EVEN AFTER I provided proof of maintenance! This car was not even 2 years old yet. How frustrating. Be sure and avoid these guys. Theyre crooked. Never giving them another cent. Ill go back to Toyota.
Owner of a brand new 2017 Equus. This is their top of the line luxury car which they have decided to quit manufacturing. First and foremost their whole marketing campaign about picking your car up and providing a replacement of similar kind when needing serviced was an absolute fabrication. After the Iast few month dealership just said, Sorry we don’t do that now. So much for honesty and follow through to commitment.Next within the 1st year and a half I had to have the dashboard replaced as it fell apart. Then my mirror on the driver side just fell off. Then the radio would not work. Just come on and off - ended up charging me for a new one but didn’t fix the problem. Now the car is overheating and to fix the radio like they should have done to start they now want to charge me several hundred more. I could go on at length on more problems but no point. I am writing this for one reason to warn others about this unbelievably crappy car with a $70,000 price tag. If you gave me one I would give you $500 to tow it away which you would get used to doing in a short period of time anyway.
The music system of my i20 car has gone out of order. Though I contacted the local dealer for repairing, they told me to buy a new one as the same is not repairable. Thus, Hyundai is cheating customers by providing such a music system with the car. Though I had sent a number of mails to Hyundai (India), it was in vain. I think the customer care section is also a cheat - really horrifying.
Had to replace back brake every few months and one day while driving heard a noise and lost control of the car, had the car tow to the shop and was told my the back axle had come detached from the subframe due to rust and could not be repaired... Called Hyundai and they and complain about it the other day. Someone from Hyundai of America call me saying they want to buy my car back for 500.
I bought a brand new 2013 Hyundai right off the tractor & trailer. After 9 payments & 15,000 miles the turbo & motor are completely broke. Hyundai wants $10,000.00 from me to fix. I do not have it and shouldnt have to pay it. After 3 weeks of appeal, deny, appeal, deny, appeal, deny...I am trying to get a loan for the money. I bought Hyundai for the warranty. I expected the car to last longer than 9 months. So now Ill have a new car & 2 loans. This little car is not worth the now $34,000.00. A big business should stand behind their word. They are taking advantage of a customer. I will NEVER buy Hyundai again. I will tell everyone my story. I will also take advice on dealing with Hyundai. Please help. Dont even look at a Hyundai. Turn around. Run...Fast.
Have a 2015 sonata limited - only had it since Sept 2014. Its only two months old and in the shop for engine problem. Took in two days before and came home, went back the next day with the same problem. Dont get me wrong, I love the car - just not the engine problem. I think they need to replace the car.
For 5 years, I had my payment automatically deducted by Hyundai Finance for my car. In December, my balance was $59 and they deducted the whole $279. I called and they stopped the auto deduction and they would send my refund within 30 days, which it took all 30 days. At the end of January, I noticed they took out another $279 so I called. They said the auto payment was turned off and they were not sure why it was deducted. They said they would refund it but it would take another 30 days and assured me the auto pay was deactivated. Lo and behold another $279 was deducted from my account today and when I called, bottom line is it will take another 30 days to get my money and nothing they can do to refund sooner.
Paid a lot of $$$$ for this car, $50000. Ive been driving a Hyundai Sonata 2011 Turbo, has 125000 on it, great car. Looking to buy another Sonata but 2018 models arent as fast as my 2011. Went for a drive, not even close, what happen? The Genesis was in showroom floor. Took for a drive, Wow, the car floats on the pavement. 3 driving modes, sound system you better wear earplugs. Comfort, outrageous. Noise from outside what noise. Looks beautiful. If you never seen the Genesis Emblem you would not know what kind of car this is. Kudos to Hyundai. Awesome car.
I recently purchased a 2017 Genesis G80, made by Hyundai. They promise the sun, moon and stars on their customer service. They sell you on the concierge service, where they pick your car up and basically take care of everything. This is a totally lie and the service people have no clue on this service. I have issues with the way the hood is aligned and they had no clue about it, but when you Google the internet, its a common problem. Once Hyundai dealer was unsure if they had concierge service or not and put me through to voicemail. I wouldnt recommend Genesis to anyone... just completely horrible customer service!! I would NEVER, NEVER EVER buy another Hyundai or Genesis. Pay the extra money and buy an Acura or Lexus!
Hyundai is ok but Im not really crazy about it. It has a jerking feeling when you take off from driving. It does drive good on the highway but it doesnt in town. I want a smoother ride in town and a fast car. I also wish I had a sunroof and a navigation. Even so, I like that it has 3 different drive modes. It has eco, turbo and standard. The eco saves on gas so I have it on that all the time.
We purchased a Hyundai Eon car on June 2013, Hans Hyundai, New Delhi and as of now, i.e., December 2018 it has 7,900 kms on it. We are facing the following issues with the car: (i) EPS light coming on and the power steering feels too hard - I took it to the workshop and they say the power steering module isnt working and needs to be changed. (ii) Air conditioning not working - The workshop says gas isnt there. (iii) Boot door doesnt stay open - The workshop says both boot struts arent working and needs to be replaced.To our surprise, the car which has not even been run for 8,000 kms has all the above failures. This shows the poor quality & workmanship of your product & it is not acceptable. We as customers buy your vehicle considering the reliability & quality of the cars. I bought a new Hyundai Sonata in 2012. I bought the extended warranty due to driving 20 miles to work each day. I have had my oil changed every 3000 miles. My car started using oil after about 100,000. I took it to the dealership, and they said they would have to do oil consumption. I went through this for 3 oil changes. They said it was using oil, but not enough to hurt. The dealership said the car had to be using a quart of oil per 1000 miles in order for them to be concerned. I was not satisfied with this answer, so I called to complaint line at Hyundai with no better results. My car is now using a quart of oil every 1400 miles. It will soon be out of warranty. Very unsatisfied with Hyundai.
I purchased my Accent 2007 brand new off the lot. It is a 5-speed manual shift. I have had extreme brake problems ever since but thats the least of my trouble. Driving to work one night last week, I was moving in traffic and the car just shut off. Luckily, I was able to drift safely to the side of the road I was on. I had to have the car towed to my garage. The next morning, the mechanic called to give me the bad news. My timing belt broke. Okay, I could handle that until he told me the rest... In these cars, when the timing belt breaks, the valves in the motor keep moving and are most likely bent. So I have to pay for the repair and when we try to start it, we will know for sure. I am sick over this. I am on a tight budget and cannot afford a new car at this time. My job is 50 miles one way and I now have no way to get there. Shame on Hyundai for placing such a faulty piece of equipment in their vehicles. I owned a Hyundai Excel years ago and had 200,000 plus miles on it and only ever had to replace a thermostat in it. Had I known how poorly Hyundai is building their cars now, I would have never bought another one. But you can bet that I will never purchase another, nor will anyone in my family. I also work in a big hospital... Thats a lot of potential customers, Hyundai.
My wife was driving my 09 4.6L Genesis sedan with 73,000 mi. While driving to the doctors appointment a couple mornings ago, she was approaching a stop light and applied the brakes. The pedal went down to within a couple inches from the floor board.
I have to say, I made a huge mistake going with my tried and true Honda or Toyota. To save a few bucks off sticker I purchased a 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT. At about 60,000 miles, imagine just when the warranty really expires the car starts to stall when I start every once in a while, about every two months, finally the thing stalls in the middle of the highway. How pleasant that experience was. In any case I get towed to nearest Hyundai dealer who proceeds to charge me an upfront diagnostic fee. I have no choice but to pay to find out what is wrong.The manager of Hyundai dealer tells me I need all new spark plugs and ignition coils to the tune of $600 plus dollars. I tell him that this stall issue has been happening for a while. He says, Sorry you passed 60,000 miles. Its your fault you didnt bring to dealer sooner. I say, Ignition coil and plugs are supposed to last a minimum of 100,000 miles and you know Mr manager that the problem started well before I passed 60,000 miles, it didnt just wake up at 67,000 and drop dead. I said, Can you work with me? I will accept some responsibility, for not getting here earlier, lets split the cost. Manager says, No can do. GO to corporate and ask them.I do call corporate and go through the whole thing that these plugs and ignition coils did just break down overnight. I know I am 7,000 miles over the warranty but I feel because of your inferior parts caused the failure, is there anything you can do? The old lady at Corporate who I am speaking seemingly takes some pleasure in telling me basically to go pound sand. I go back to the dealer and explain how rude corporate was and not covering anything. Dealer says, That too bad but thats corporates decision not mine. I cant help you. So as a customer they make you go between the dealer and corporate. Corporate says not my fault ask dealer. Dealer says not my fault ask Corporate. Nice customer service, just a game.Finally I break down and ask the dealer to make the fix. At first they dont tell me that they need to only replace the ignition coil that is malfunctioning. They tell me all four have to be replaced. I happen to google it then ask if all 4 coils need to be replaced. Mgr says, Oh right just the one that is not working, that will save you money. Fine, I tell them to do the fix.Finally the car is supposedly fixed and I pay for it and get in start to drive away. To my astonishment now the car is ticking loudly. I cant believe it. Its worse. Anyway I now have to make another appointment to fix the new very loud engine ticking noise. I have not done so yet because I am going to trade the piece of junk in for a real car like a HONDA or a TOYOTA. Point is Hyundai makes cheaper crappy cars that may run for a bit then slowly break down. BTW the resale value of the Hyundai is horrible. Its pay me now or pay me later. Moral of the story you should pay a few thousand more for Honda or Toyota which is proven to last and has higher resale values. GOODBYE HYUNDAI.
I bought a new car from a dealership in Laurel, Maryland 2 months ago when they had the test drive gift card promotion, but I never received the gift card. After contacting the dealership several times to follow up, no one provides me any updates. I then decided to reach out to Hyundai USA and hope they will help me. Hyundai USA basically hires a third party AutoHook to deal with the issues and doing the research. AutoHook stated We are an entirely separate entity and do not make decisions about what offers are redeemed, and told me only the dealership can verify my test drive and redeem the offer. Even I bought a car from the dealership, it doesnt mean my test drive was verified. In other words, if the dealership decides to do nothing, then thats it. Its a huge disappointment that the Hyundai USA does not manage their dealership, does not care how the dealership is treating their customer and just let them cheat the customers.
I was the 2nd owner of an Accent, it was one year old and after one year the front tires went bald, then the rims were totally oxidized. Now, 2 years later the window motors on two windows went totally bad and the dealership wants 400.00 for both. The customer service is horrible. My husband has leased an Elantra because his Hyundai Genesis turbo line broke and oil was spilling all over, dealership said it must have been something he hit. Would have felt it, dont you think? As soon as that lease is up, we are keeping the car just so we do not have to trade it in for another Hyundai, since we do not want to have to pay their fees. As soon as that goes through, we will sell it for a dozen apples. Never again, this company stinks. Buy American.
I purchased Hyundai Accent that was a couple of years old and a dull gray. Used car to run back and forth to work. It ran well all in all. We have since given the car to our daughter to use to drive back and forth to college. It is small with better mileage than other vehicles have owned. Some it was a couple years old we were able to get the car at a reasonable cost. Payments were manageable at $250 per month. However, car would not accelerate on hills well. The smaller size made traveling with the family tight sometimes.
I have experienced one of the lowest quality customer care and service from the customer service department of Hyundai USA. I have cases open with them for the past 4 months. I am following up with the customer service department every week, and I have received a very poor unresponsive service from this department. Do not recommend this car manufacturer if you care about (and expect to receive) quality customer care and service.
I bought my daughter a new 2004 Elantra GT. The dealer have not been able to correct a starting problem with the vehicle. The dealer could not solve the problem while the vehicle was under factory warranty. And until this time, the dealer have sold us parts that we didnt need, saying that the various parts would solve the starting problem. Nothing they have tried have worked. Never will we ever purchase another Hyundai.
I bought a Hyundai Elantra in 2007 with a three year warranty. Within the first two weeks, the indicator switch had to be replaced. This happened again over a period of a year and now that the warranty has expired, the indicator only works manually.Approximately 8 months after purchasing the vehicle, we heard a grinding rear noise, especially when reversing. It was very noticeable. I am an Estate Agent and it was embarrassing. The local mechanics examined the car and after saying that they knew exactly what they were doing, replaced the rear disk pads and callipurs, etc. with the approval of head office. A week later, the noise was back. I took it to the local supplier but they could not find the fault. My husband kept on saying that they should look at the release bearing and they ignored it. The car was eventually taken to Johannesburg, and a week later, I was informed that it was the release bearing. Remember, this was over a period of a year. They replaced the release bearing just before the warranty expired.All was fine for a few months and then we heard a noise in the engine. I took it in and was told that the valve lifters had to be replaced at a cost of $4,200.00. I phoned head office but they replied that it was out of warranty and not their problem anymore. The day we collected the car, we noticed that the noise had not disappeared. Fortunately, our car was at the wash bay when the workshop exploded (not so sure it was fortunate). The mechanic who released the car to us admitted that there was a noise, but seeing that they had no equipment, nothing could be done about it at that stage.When they arranged for an alternative workshop and the proper equipment, I took the car in. To my utter amazement, they phoned me a day later to tell me that the oil pump, timing chain, and tensioner had to be replaced at a cost of $10,000. Fix one thing and another one appears. What guarantee do I have that this will be the end of my woes and that the problem has been diagnosed properly? I spoke to the Manager, Ben, and told him that I wanted a second opinion and that I would take the car to Bloemfontein. He agreed with me and told me that a car with 70,000 km on the clock should not have all these problems and that I should take it further. I was really excited when I received my brand new car but now, I feel like setting it alight. My husband is so frustrated that he just wants to get rid of the car. We listened to an engine of a similar Elantra - what a difference. My brother in law had an Elantra which clocked 600,000 km and it hardly ever had any problems and that is one of the reasons why we bought one.Let me just say that the local supplier and his staff had always been helpful and friendly, but they can only help to a point and after that they have to abide by Imperials Rules. I will not stop until something is done about it.I appeal to you. Please see what you can do for me.
I too have had trouble with my airbag light on my 2005 XG350 since it was new. The service records show this. Now that the warranty has expired, the dealer technician told me to bring it in for reset since I have had history of having it reset and also new bags installed. However, this service shop is all the way across town and I live approximately 45 miles away. I have decided to just let it burn out. More of a hassle to get it fixed. By the way, I now have trouble with my seat belt not retracting. It is fully extended all the time. I just hope I dont get into any severe accident whereby I will need it. Lord help!
The Veracruz was sold to us with faulty alignment. Unfortunately, it wasnt found until the one tire had no thread and wires were showing. The vehicle not even a year old! We contacted the dealer immediately and were told that they would not cover anything for us because we were 400 miles over the warranty! They finally agreed to do the alignment at no cost due to us fighting very hard, but let my husband drive out of their garage with a tire showing wires and extremely unsafe! They refused to put a new tire on the vehicle no matter what, even though it was their fault of the improper alignment! A multi-billion dollar company cant fork up the cost of a tire to make sure that their customer was safe in a vehicle that they bought from them that was faulty! My family of 5 were at great risk driving this vehicle not knowing that the car was unsafe! We contacted the service department several times and corporate offices and was told that it is our problem and then was hung up on! They werent going to help. How sick! We will never buy another Hyundai again in our lifetime. They are awful to deal with any type of customer service or issues with anything. They dont care about their customers or their safety and that is unacceptable! We could have easily had a blow out at any time with a family of 5 with 3 small children!
In June 2011, I bought a Hyundai Elantra 3-year warranty. I was excited because it is just what I wanted. However, several problems started to occur. First, the indicator switch had to be replaced within the first 2 weeks. Second, after six months, we experienced screeching noises. I took it to a local dealer on various occasions. They replaced the break calliper and brake pads etc. but the noise still persisted. My husband said it was a release bearing but they did not agree. I took it to Johannesburg and after ten days, they agreed that it was the release bearing, which they replaced just before the warranty expired. This process took over a year. Third problem was the indicator switch was faulty again and it had to be replaced again. After the warranty expired, it had a knock in the engine, which they diagnosed as a valve lifter. We paid over R4,000 to have these replaced. The day we collected the car from the garage, there was an explosion, during which, 6 cars were burnt out, fortunately, mine was in the wash bay. There still was a noise in the engine. Two weeks later, when they had a temporary workshop, they gave me a quote for a further R15,000 for replacement of Chain Guide A & B, Timing Chain, Chain Tensioner, Oil Pump etc. The even quoted for replacement of boot latch (very noisy boot) and still have to replace indicator switch.I am so disappointed. Everyone who I have been in contact with regarding the car has admitted that this should not be happening to a car that (at that stage) only had 60000 km on the clock, now R72750. None of the Elantra cars in Kimberley have similar problems. I spoke to a few of the owners personally. All I am asking for is a normal sounding car. I am embarrassed when people ask me why the car is so noisy, even my lady friends who do not have a clue anything about cars, are concerned.I am now waiting for them to repair the car and the parts have been ordered. They cannot carry out the repairs, as they are waiting for a part, which was shipped to SA and is taking forever. It was ordered weeks ago and their words are that it is taking so long because they have never needed to order a part of this nature before. My husband is a pensioner and does not drive like a maniac. He is a very careful driver.I am not a difficult person but I am so disillusioned. I love the Hyundai product and bought an Atos for my daughter years ago. She loves her car and never has any problems. To me, the Elantra we bought was a dud. The outside looks good but it is bad on the inside. I could write a book but am only focusing on the most important. We do not have the funds to buy a new car and we bought the car for R160,000 and the book value is now only R71,000. I implore you to attend to this complaint and not just ignore it. I am sure that if you were in my place you would feel the same. I have spoken to consumer services on numerous occasions but to no avail.
Love my Santa Fe. Never had problems. My question is to the manufacturer. An idea for you guys. Make a 4 by 4 Santa Fe just like a Jeep Cherokee. Lifted a little higher like a Jeep Cherokee. It would be a great competition. What you think Hyundai?
I have a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. Im persistent with maintenance and was relocating from Wisconsin to Nevada for work, thinking my car only has 40,000 miles so it shouldn’t have any major problems on the way there. Well, get 1000 miles away to Tulsa and the engine completely blew. I was stuck there for 9 days which caused my boyfriend and I to dwindle our savings by $1200 to cover my hotel and food cost. The repair was covered under warranty because there was absolutely no sludge in the engine when it was taken apart and turns out there were several recall parts IN THE ENGINE that needed to be replaced. Well, we finally make it to Las Vegas and I try to file a trip interruption claim and the people at Hyundai told me what to fax to them...so I did and spent $12.00 at UPS to do so. I waited a week and get a call saying that I have to MAIL my documents to the roadside people first before Hyundai will consider the charges. Welp, did that and 2 weeks later, I call roadside and they tell me it takes SEVEN WEEKS TO REVIEW and they can’t see anything in the system until it’s finished being reviewed. So I finally give them the 7 weeks and call in, still not in the system so I was given a fax # to send everything in. 2 weeks later, they approved 300$ because thats their max allowable and Id need to go through Hyundai for the remainder. So... I call Hyundai since they have ALL the documents I sent previously. The girl I talked to assured me it should only take 3 days because I had my case reviewed previously and they just needed the response from roadside to approve it. So... I wait the 3 days, call back and the reviewer still hasn’t even touched my account. 2 weeks and 3 messages to the examiner later - still nothing. So I’m told itll be escalated to his manager and I’ll hear back within a day. Did I? Nope. Talked to a rep this morning who discussed my account with his lead and they both agreed its inexcusable for the examiner to be avoiding my case all together. I will NEVER buy another Hyundai again... my parents and sister both just recently went car shopping and were both considering Hyundais until I went through this...so they just lost 2 customers. Im at my very last straw with them. Theres no reason my engine should have blown at 40,000 miles now theyre just evading paying me back the money that is owed to me.
I purchased my 2005 Hyundai, in late 2004. Since the day I owned it, I’ve had trouble with it, like from only 2000 miles on it the engine had a noise. I took it back 4 or 5 times, and they kept saying they didn’t hear anything. Well that is wrong, because the service manager that was there at the time heard it. I want to know what happened to him as he is no longer there. I went back one time to get my oil changed and found out that they only changed the filter and not the oil, which I could prove, so I made up my mind that I would never go back there for service. Now my car has only 48,000 miles on it and I have a real bad noise in the rear end. I took it up to them and they told me it was under warranty. A couple of hours later they called me and told me they would not fix the problem because of not having it serviced by them. The car would be serviced for as long as I owned the car, not by Hyundai but by my own service person, which should not matter because by law, you dont have to bring it to the dealer. This dealership has had a lot of problem with people over warranty work. I know of at least 13 people. The dealership has a bad name to begin with. Now that my car is 6-years-old, I am going to let people know just what kind of cars they have and how the warranty is nothing but a rip off. If I could talk my wife into it, I would like to paint the dealer’s name on the car to show what kind of junk it is and also let them drive it. Maybe thus I could stop another person from making the same mistake I made by buying one. You know it is a shame that when a person buys a car or truck, the first thing they look for is the coverage it has. By then if ever something would go wrong, they would not to be ripped off, like people from this dealership and the company. I will post on the internet and facebook for people to contact me, so like I said, I might stop someone from getting one of these cars. All I could say is thank you for reading this letter and to let you know my true feeling about a Hyundai.
I’m writing this post because I had bad experience with Hyundai USA, and I warned their representative Lauren **, that this is what I would do. Her response basically was, “Go ahead,” and that is why I’m spending the time to write this. She refused to give me her last name, but if this gets back to Hyundai, I’m sure they will find out who she is.Back in March, when I would back up and apply the brakes, it sounded like thunder. I knew this meant I was having a problem with my brakes so I called the local Hyundai Dealership. They told me because I only had 12,320 miles on my car, that the rotors would be covered under my warranty. They also said the brake pads would not. The dealership was a distance away, and in the past even with an appointment, I had to wait a long time to have the repairs done. They also charge considerably more than a local auto repair shop would. I saved even more money because there was a local store that had a Groupon for brake pads. I had assumed that new pads were all I needed, but when they took off the rear wheels, they showed me that the rotors were also badly worn and had to be replaced. I had already paid for the pads with the Groupon, and I told them to also replace the rotors.I called Hyundai because the rotors should not have gone bad with only 12,320 miles on them, and ask that they pay the $149.80 it cost me to have them repaired. Their answer was since the repair was not done at a Hyundai Dealership, it would usually not be covered. They also said if I went to the Hyundai Dealership, and got a letter that the rotors were installed properly, there was a good chance that they would cover the cost. So of course, I went to the dealership, got a letter from them, sent in a copy of my bill along with another letter explaining everything, to their complaint department. Their response after doing all of this was NO! Not taking no for an answer, this time I wrote to the corporate office and waited three weeks for their response. I figured a multi-billion dollar company would just reimburse me, the same as they would have paid the dealership to have the repair done. As I said before, Lauren ** also said Hyundai would not cover it. I can spend $149.80 just for a good dinner, so it’s not so much the money, it’s the principle. In trying to find Hyundai’s telephone number it said that they got only 1 star for customer service, so you know this the next time you are looking for cars.
I have had this car for 14 days. When I bought it the salesman could not get the nav to show anything but one major interstate. I trusted (HUGE MISTAKE) that the dealership would make it right. Now they tell me it has to be set at 150 feet to show street names. If youre on the highway going 60 mph - or even back roads at 40 - you wont have enough time to make the correct turns. Had they been honest about the severe limitations of the cars navigation system, I would have NEVER bought it. It would have been a deal breaker. I feel the dealership beginning to be very sleazy about this: Hyundai Great Lakes in Streetsboro, OH. Theyre basically telling me tough luck.I will not take the car back; am preparing to call my lawyer and will scream to the high heavens about this. I was tricked and lied to by this dealership. JUST DONT BUY A HYUNDAI... SEEMS LOTS OF THE DEALERS ARE SLIMY!!
Worthless Warranty. My 2012 Hyundai Genesis engine broke a piston rod and punched a hole in the block. I had just had the oil changed and the engine was full of oil. But because I didnt have the oil changed at a Hyundai dealership, Hyundai America claimed I didnt have any oil in the engine and denied my warranty claim. This was with 45,000 miles on the engine. Nothing I could do would change their mind. If they say no, thats it regardless of their warranty. What a lousy company!!!
On June 2020, I purchased a Palisade 2020 at Lougheed Hyundai. The car was purchased new. I quickly discovered that this car is in fact was damaged during the manufacturing process. Or, this may have been the result of damage incurred by workers at Lougheed Hyundai, which was then covered up. After a few days of having the car, I went to an automatic car cleaning service. After completing the wash, I noticed discoloration on the car body near the wheels (near the back passenger door) because its paint peels off.What bothered me with my experience at Lougheed Hyundai is the terrible customer experience and the general manager doesnt care of the customer. He offered me to repaint that part which is included in the warranty or he can replace that part of my car with a another new car!! So it might have been happened for my car before I purchased it. As a new Hyundai customer this is a very disappointed experience which I never had with different manufacture.
Bought a new Hyundai Elantra in 2002 and the transmission went out at only 80,000 miles. To fix transmission ranges from $1000 to $2500. That is more than the Blue Book value of the car! Hyundais are JUNK! Get a TOYOTA or a HONDA instead.
I purchased my 2005 Hyundai Tuscon new from the Kolar Hyundai dealership based primarily on the advertised warranty coverage of 10 years and 100,000 miles bumper-to-bumper as they advertised it (it’s still under a warranty plus program which I did have to pay for). Since then my Tuscon is in need of a bearing replacement on the left rear tire (it has seized). When I called the dealership, I was told they would not tow the vehicle or repair it without me covering all the costs. My warranty is currently at no cost to me for repairs or towing. I was told to call the Hyundai warranty number. The lady I spoke to informed me that if it was an American-made vehicle, it would be covered since bumper-to-bumper means that. But since it is a Hyundai and the rear wheels are not drive wheels, it is not covered after 60,000 miles. I asked her again why Hyundai is not honoring their advertised bumper-to-bumper warranty. Again, I was told it is because Hyundai is not an American-made vehicle (assuming she meant a vehicle made by Ford or other American vehicle corporations). I am now forced to incur all costs for repairs since Hyundais trickery (erroneous advertising) has forced me to, especially in a tough economy.
I am the original owner of a 2012 Hyundai Elantra GLS 6 speed manual, and the car currently have slightly over 150,000 miles. About 10 months ago I made my first attempt to get my car evaluated for rust spots that I noticed in various places (under side of the hood, gas fill cap area and frame above the muffler). Mostly spots are under the paint. I filed a complaint and obtained a case number. Despite having case number almost every time I called I had to explain the issue over and over again. I got a very little cooperation from the local Hyundai dealer (Branhaven Hyundai formerly Quality Hyundai) and a very slow response from Hyundai Motors of America. {and did not have anyone to contact most of the time}. The official response from Hyundai Motors of America came by mail only 6 months later denying warranty coverage. Only now after I got the letter I was able to get the name and address so I can file small claims writ for the cost of the repair and false advertisement. The official Hyundai website positing warranty coverage of 7 years unlimited miles, but for some reason my car did not stand in that guidance even if its only 5 years old. If you owned the same model vehicle Hyundai Elantra 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2014 ask your local oil change place or mechanic to look underneath the frame and see if you have the same problem and if you do please report it to your local Hyundai dealer. Please see attached pictures and if anyone else experienced a similar problem please share it. Its impossible that Im the only one experiencing the problem. I am from Connecticut so we do have salt on the road but I own other cars and none of them got rust like that even after 10 years.
