Treffen is the German word meaning "to meet," and has come to mean nearly any Volkswagen enthusiast-based event. Each year, the Highway 1 Treffen Cruise takes place as a long road trip along California State Route 1, also known as the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH). The Treffen trek started as small lunch meets in 1998, organized by Sean Maynard, a former Volkswagen marketing specialist, and evolved into an 8,000-mile road trip around the US. For the past 24 years, it's become an annual 10-day road trip bringing the community together for rolling events, including camping, beach bonfires, car shows, and surfing. The PCH is one of the most beautiful scenic roads in the world and a Mecca for car enthusiasts. It runs from Orange County, California, and up the coast to become the US 101 for Oregon and Washington states. The Treffen trek starts in Port Angeles, WA, and follows most of the 1,700-mile route to end close to the Mexican border in Border Field State Park, California. "At Treffen, you can drive for ten miles or ten days in a vintage or a modern VW. We always have an itinerary, but no one needs to follow it. The whole trip is about enjoying the open road-as much or little as you'd like," says Maynard. While the trip centers around classic Volkswagens, there's no elitism or snobbery from the community involved. It's all about the road trip, the comradeship, the community networking, and the overall experience. "The people take great pride in their classic VW models," Maynard explains, "They'll talk for hours about all the work they've done on their vehicles. And they'll be more than generous if anyone ever needs help."rnThis year's trek took place just a few weeks ago in the summer sun. As you can see from the photos, it included some fantastic vintage examples of Volkswagen Beetle, Karman Ghia, Microbus, and camper van models stopping for regional car shows based around the event.

Having a look at the reviews, I feel a little bit better as the company is just terrible in general, I thought it was just my luck and I was dealing with wrong service managers but seems like everyone is having the SAME! issue. What a mistake I made trusting Volkswagen, my car has been with them over a week coming to two weeks to diagnose an issue which they did after a week. Repairs were then done, I was then advised it could actually be something else and now another cost is adding, then they said I might even need a new Engine, my oh my.My other frustration is that the service manager who I called after being told they will call when they didnt had no clue of the situation and advised she was handed the case a day ago when the complaint was sent few days ago via web chat. I REGRET using them. I could of taken my car to a local garage who will be cheaper and diagnose the actual issue without trying to rob your money, I WILL NEVER EVER USE YOU AGAIN NOR RECOMMEND YOU TO ANYONE! WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE FACED!

All CC models are affected by this tire/alignment issue. Dealers and VW are not forthcoming about the actual problem. There is nothing wrong with the continental tires the vehicle comes with, they are wonderful tires and do not have any record of defects or recalls. The issue is the CC chassis. It is a front heavy car built on a completely different and unique chassis than the regular Passat. They obviously had issues getting the car to track correctly through corners using a standard stance and camber. So they widened the suspension stance and added negative camber in the front to achieve better grip with the heavy front end. (Even with the factory set up you can feel the front end wanting to float off in the opposite direction of the corner at higher speeds.) They did not make the camber adjustable in the front, only the rear is adjustable. This means that you can put any brand tires on, rotate and align as often as you want and you will still ruin your tires every 10,000 miles. So add another $1,000.00 per year for cost of ownership of this car. I am absolutely appalled that VW has made this their dirty little secret and just assume that their customers wont figure this out. Shame on you, VW.

I purchased a 2012 VW cc from Michaels in Fresno, CA. Some companies were wanting to pack your furniture or your belongings and then store it overnight and then deliver it the next day. Almost immediately the car started breaking down. We have almost completely rebuilt the car by replacing the battery several times, the computer system, fuel injection system, transmission and now tire sensors. The car was not only prone to breaking down but was extremely dangerous as it would turn off or stall on the freeway at high speeds. Despite numerous attempts to get assistance from both the dealer and corporate I was turned away. I will never buy another VW product again or purchase from Michaels. They make and sell a product that they know is highly defective and subpar. Im going back to Honda.

Our 2018 Atlas went in for 8 software updates around Thanksgiving, 2018. We still had a COLD heater, meaning blowing cold air like middle of the summer. Our Atlas December 5th with scheduled pickup of Dec 7th. We were given a loaner (a tiny Jetta, not 3 seat Atlas we are used to). But we thought, ok, we were told the fix would be done by Wednesday. Then, the next Wednesday, then more excuses. Let me tell you, after 2 months! We went to the dealer to get OUR payment after 1 month, to pay on our vehicle we DID not have. To find the entire inside dash and more completely torn out! The excuse was, it was always the wrong part, going to take another week. Finally, we opened a case with the regional so called manager, Chris. What did he and VW do for us? NOTHING. They delayed, and delayed and finally gave us (after calling and begging repeatedly), a drop dead date of February 1st, claiming their Lawyer process takes 10 working days, we still got a sorry, were very sorry, but it will be Monday or Tuesday before I can give you an answer. In the meantime, leading us to believe they were going to replace the vehicle at full cost, or more, and give us our two month payment back. GUESS WHAT! NOT!!! Chris and Volkswagen KEPT leading us on giving excuses as the dealer didnt send us the forms, blah blah BS. Chris, the so called regional manger and VW lead us on and kept delaying, until, guess what, they say, Come get your vehicle. Its fixed. Thats the response!!! No joke. It is Feb 8th!! We have been BURIED in snow. Our family has ridden in a NOT EVEN comparable vehicle for over 2 months. We have lost work time and more dealing with the issues, and, oh yeah, made two full payments on a vehicle we did not have. Did VW or the dealership compensate us for any of this??? NO NO NO. Come get your so called fixed LEMON vehicle. DO NOT EVER, EVER...I repeat, EVER buy VW...PERIOD. Im also forwarding this story on to DATELINE, and CBS for 60 minutes. This is more than a problem of VW in America, and hard working people. This has been just wrong.

I purchased this vehicle new and after the first 30 days my 2019 Tiguan had problems - mainly electrical. I decided to wait on my next payment. I wasn’t even 30 days behind with the vehicle was repo’d. Never will own a VW again. Worst experience ever for a vehicle I only had for 90 days and they sent it straight to the auction so they can get a big balance from me!!

My five years old 2011 VW Tiguan had two major mechanical problems. One problem with the fuel injection was fixed for free because of the recall. Another problem was the antifreeze leak that would cost me more than $3K to fix. That made me decide to trade it in for the reliable Volvo. One week after giving away Tiguan, the second car made by VW Jetta Sport Wagon 2013 didnt start. The dealership diagnosed sensor problem that can be fixed for only $300. After few hours they call us back (probably thought they didnt ripped us off enough) and told us that the computer is broken and need to be replaced. It will be another $1600 + $300 for the sensor that might be broken or not. We are very scared to hear from those VW people tomorrow. The car is very expensive and in the hands of people we dont trust who keep finding wrong things with very costly parts. I already told my sad story everyone I know. At this point we used to have two new cars and ended up with nothing just because we shopped at VW. I hope people learn from our mistake and that VW manufacturing stop producing these very expensive but so below lowest quality cars.

I own a 2018 VW Tiguan. The customer service of VW and VW Credit is terrible. And I will never recommend or buy another one because of that. I have been dealing with title issues for 4 years and it’s still not resolved. Every time I call, there is another reason or excuse for things not being taken care. Beware of financing through VW!

No prior issues with my car. Regular mainty. Less than 80k miles. Now I have a car not running. 6800 for repairs. And warranty is out. Volkswagen is not taking any responsibility.

After three years and 54,000 miles, the automatic DSG transmission failed on my 2009 VW GTI. Over the past three years, I complained to the service department (North Penn Imports) about the problems I was having. Each time, they stated that it was operating normally. I have each case documented. Now that the transmission has failed completely (does not go into gear or shift), the dealer and Volkswagen have denied my warranty due to the fact that I have some aftermarket parts on my car and that these parts caused the failure. They have offered no explanation of how they caused the failure. As of now, they are replacing the transmission at my cost of over $3000.

After purchasing a brand new 2019 Atlas, it has been nothing but a nightmar
After purchasing a brand new 2019 Atlas, it has been nothing but a nightmare. From cylinders not firing, bad spark plugs, blaming us for putting bad gas in... Now on 3 visits, then a faulty battery which a corporate mechanic had to find. It has been nothing but a disaster! To top it all off, we want to get rid of this LEMON and that has become an even harder process. Not only does this car violate CA law for having multiple issues on a specific part of the car, my 3-year-old has been in the car with me on two separate occasions when it has decided to randomly shut off. VW corporate was not phased by this at all. When purchasing this vehicle, my husband and I turned in a perfectly good, special edition BMW and received this piece of crap! Instead of actually taking care of my family, VW corporate insists that they will only pay us for the difference of the BMW and car payments. Myself, my husband, and my sons life was in jeopardy while driving this car, but clearly empathizing with hard-working decent people is not in this business interest. My family has purchased from VW for over a decade, but that will not happen again. Not only are they not taking care of our needs while trying to split ties with their company, they sent a completely incompetent email to us with false options and that demand we send items to send to them? I am in the business sector and business is not conducted in such a fashion as this.I also want to point out that because the email was so poorly composed, I could press legal matters around the areas addressed. This is a very stern warning that if you are looking to purchase a family vehicle this is a horrific option. I am extremely disappointed with this company and cannot believe they claim to service everyone and will not accommodate those who have been experiencing issue after issue, two being highly dangerous, and do not know the meaning of taking care of loyal customers. Such a shame!!

I agree with Libby from Birmingham MI. I have a 2014 Executive CC with 25,000 miles that I purchased new in 2015. I just had Takata airbag done today and am waiting like Libby on the fuel pump which can cause serious consequences if malfunctions and stalls out. I was told today Volkswagen service dept. still does not have the necessary parts to correct and fix this problem. I also have no maintenance or warranty on this car that at time of purchase I was told it had a 3 year maintenance program as well as warranty. I found out today when I took it in for my 3rd year maintenance that it had expired and that it was only 2 years on the maintenance. I never got notification of this until today. My husband purchased a pre-owned 2013 Passat and got 3 years on maintenance yet my car cost 10,000 more and was purchased new. I will never, ever buy another Volkswagen again. Probably should never have listened to the car dealer at time of purchase without verifying myself. I was sold a resist all protection and passkey yet never offered extended warranty option. I will go to another manufacturer with better warranty and maintenance programs next time.

My son was parked with the engine running, listening to the radio. The engine burst into flames and exploded three times. He was parked up against a building across the street from our apartment. It was determined it was due to a malfunction in the engine, and we were reimbursed for the car by our insurance company. Our son could have been killed, but Volkswagen, which is doing a big ad campaign about safety, refuses to pay the building owner for the damage or to reimburse us for our $1000 deductible. There was a recall, but even though we bought the 2-year-old Bug from a dealership and had it serviced at a dealership, we were not advised of this major problem with the car. Forget safety in a VW. Forget responsible compensation from VW.

2010 VW CC 70k miles, in 10 months, has gone through 2 water pumps, an intake manifold, fuel pump control module (failed driving down the road, started to overheat and it sits on top of the fuel tank... fire waiting to happen?), coolant line cracked open and leaked, 3 oil leaks, new spark plugs at 40000 miles because one failed, new ignition coils as one started misfiring, windshield washer fluid pump has stopped working, the driver side window now goes down by itself (Ive had to unplug the buttons to keep my window closed), and now Im experiencing random power loss... Total cost so far in 10 months? $6,000!!!Oh and with VW direct injection, my valves were caked in carbon at 50,000 miles. Thats a 1500 dollar fix but my engine was already in pieces to fix everything else. Total absolute junk. Not even useful as a paperweight because it will spill its fluids over your paper. I would reckon the 2.0 tsi is one if the worst engines made. Too bad its not diesel or Id have VW buy my car back and never touch a German product again. I would sue VW but Texas has terrible lemon laws so Im stuck with VW customer service doing something about it or notifying anyone who can fog a mirror to never touch a VW product.

I bought my 2008 Jetta in 2007. At first I was very pleased with the style and performance of my new car. Unfortunately, in 2013 my Jetta started falling apart from the inside out. I have had a car that fell apart from the inside out before - not even my used Ford Falcon. Inside material has pulled from every seam, which is now attached by thumb tacks. I have since found out that other Jetta owners have had this same problem. I have owned two Acura Integras for 10 years each and never had a speck of trouble with either one. What is up with the Jetta? I will never own another Volkswagen ever, ever, ever.

Beware of leasing through VW Credit! I have leased for 20+ years and I have never gone through the issues Im going through with VW Credit after turning in my 2009 Jetta 3,000 miles under mileage! They will rake you for every little ding, scratch, burn, tires, normal wear and tear, anything they can get from you. I will never lease from them again! I am starting a website for other people Ive had contact with to share similar stories. So when the site is complete, I will make sure everyone knows how they do business.Ive never had to pay for tires (they were exactly where they should have been when turning it in). You can turn in a Honda, Toyota, Lexus, etc. with bald tires and they wont bother you! It’s normal wear and tear after 36 months. Ive only ever had to pay for over mileage! VW Credit is ridiculous and I, nor my friends, family, neighbors or co-workers will ever do business with them again!

In late 2008 my wife bought a 2004 Passat with a 1.8 turbo. All was good until about 70,000 miles then it all started to go bad. She had purchased the extended warranty so at first I was not worried and was under a false impression that the top end warranty package we paid dearly for will cover any issues we have with the masterpiece of German engineering. It started with the axles making a clicking noise when you were making a turn which being somewhat mechanically inclined I realized it would be the CV joints failing.I had my wife drop the car off at the dealer, well two and a half days later they call and let her know that due to the fact that the axle boots were torn and they where a wearable part that were not serviced regularly and it would not be covered under warranty. (So apparently you are supposed to pull axles every so often to change boots?) She inquired on the cost of replacement to be told it would cost $1100.00. I told her to call and tell them to do nothing and we will pick up the car. I was able to purchase the axles for $52.00 each and replace them in about 1 1/2 hours. So I ask, Where is $1100.00 justified? And how many people have been screwed by their VW service center? Problem 2 we had was the power windows, The driver side front and rear. Not at the same time but both had issues, The rear had a pin fall out which attached the window to the frame of the power mechanism. The front had plastic clips that broke which caused the window to fall into the door and at a later date the window motor failed. During this trip to the shop I inquired about the ignition coil recall, To my surprise they covered it all under warranty. Problem 3 was a temp sensor which caused the engine light to come on which once again to my surprise they covered under the warranty.Problem 4 was the engine oil pressure warning light and as you have read or will read in other complaints on this page due to the fact it is a used car with no paper work on servicing prior to my owning it I to am out of luck. Not to mention it took 3 days for them to get back to us. I myself use nothing but synthetic oil in all my vehicles and maintain them regularly. I was told by the dealer that the car has engine sludge and it would cost between $1500 and $7000 to make repairs. So once again I told my wife to not let them do anything to the car and have it towed to my in-laws house where he has a car lift in his shop.We pulled the suspension loose and back to access the oil pan and then pulled the pan. The pan and lower half of the motor was spotless except for what appeared to be a mixture of gasket and sealant particles built up around the oil pick up tube. That leads me to believe that the story of oil sludge is a crock of crap they came up with to cover their own ** due to faulty workmanship. We cleaned the pan and pulled the valve cover to check the top end and the results where the same, SPOTLESS, Imagine that. So anyone who is told they have sludge you should question the truth of that statement.Problem 5 was the instrument panel information center fading out on hot days to the point where you could not see any information displayed. At that time the driver side mirror glass had also fell out while driving on the freeway. I was so furious with the VW dealer that I did not want take it to them to see if they would deny repairs. My wife took it in and to my surprise once again they actually covered it. Oh, not the mirror it was not covered. Problem 6 as the mileage limit of 80,000 approached the check engine light came on again so I had my wife take it in. From this trip we received no explanation to why the light came on and where told it would be reset. However we did receive a list of items from their million point inspection or whatever they call it which totaled over $4000.00 and that the warranty would cover about a $1000.00 of it if we decided to have the work done. I requested an email of work to be done which was sent to me about a day after I requested it. Now for the problem with the quote, I apparently needed a new battery which would be ok but I had replaced it no more than 2 weeks prior to taking it in. The report stated I needed to have 2 of the coils replaced even though they had supposedly replaced them during a previous trip. What am I supposed to think about the rest of the list after reading about things that were recently replaced, Anyways the list went on and on more than I would like to explain. As of now the car is sitting in the driveway with a serious misfire and the code I pulled out of it was PO300. This is a random misfire code which does not give a fix for the problem it just gives a list of possible necessary repairs. If I will have to make all repairs on this list it could cost $1300,00 to $1800.00 which I will have to do, Due to the mileage expiration of the warranty. PLEASE DO NOT BUY A VW OF ANY KIND POST 1970. YOU WILL BE VERY SORRY!!!

Great experience! Volkswagen is my first car and favorite car. Its small and the perfect size for me. Parking is so easy. Love driving it, its a convertible as well, 2016 model red in color which is my favorite color. Interior is comfortable and I love German cars in general, they drive very well. Ive been wanting it since I was 16 and Im 24 now. I love how everything works with a push of a button like the trunk, gas. The lights on the inside made it look slick. The convertible, the stiffness of the wheel, driving it. Its fun to drive and I feel confidently driving it. But I dont like the middle of the backseat as its too hard. Also the switch to turn on the headlights that sometimes I forget and then the battery dies.

I bought a brand new 2015 VW Tiguan 8 months ago. Earlier this week, while I was driving on the freeway, my panoramic sunroof exploded and shattered glass rained down on me. I took it to the dealership knowing the car is still under warranty to get the part replaced... Thank goodness (aside from a few scrapes) I was not badly hurt. After obtaining a rental car (they wouldnt give me a loaner) and 24 hours later, they called to tell me they would not be covering this under warranty. Nothing had fallen through the roof and the glass bowed up, indicating it exploded from the inside... Clearly a defective part. The manager of the dealership called me to bear the bad news and simply brushed me off. He asked if I wanted to pay the out of pocket cost for the part and when I shared my belief that this should absolutely be covered, he said we will cancel the order of the part and you can come get your car anytime. FAR less than helpful. This experience makes me never want to drive a VW again... What is the point of a warranty if it doesnt cover defective parts?! I would NEVER recommend Volkswagen of Santa Barbara.

Volkswagen has no answer for this and doesnt seem to care. Spent lots of money trying to fix something unfixable. Also radiator fluid sometimes leaks. No reason why. 2011 VW Golf TDI Engine Problems - So I purchased my Golf new in 2011. It has ran strong and I have had very few issues which were all very minor. After putting 70k miles on the car I had to replace something in the front end which cost around 1000 dollars. Now at 130k miles the check engine and glow plug light came on. The cars power reduced by 50%. A few miles down the road it completely shut down. Had VW conduct a diagnostics. They told me that my high pressure fuel pump HPFP had failed and contaminated my fuel system. Also the catalytic converter and particulate filter was shot. Oh yea and need to replace the water pump and fix the timing. So, the parts list was 2 pages long and the total including labor was over 8,000 dollars. Let me remind you that this car is a 2011 model, 95% highway miles and is in good condition. I have truly enjoyed driving this car and expected many more miles out of the TDI engine. I havent had the repair completed yet. It going to cost more than the damn car is worth. I have mixed emotions about owning another Volkswagen.

I own a Tiguan. Its my 5th VW. This time I bought the trailer hitch addition to the MSRP for $550 new to pull a trailer. I knew I would be pulling a small trailer & ATV under 1500 lbs very infrequently. This package came with the 7 pin wiring harness so one would expect it to actual work trailer lights. I go to hook up the trailer, see the wiring harness but cant figure out how to hook it up. They had me bring it in and tried to hook it up. I then found out I had to spend an additional $400 to reprogram the entire vehicle, add a control module, & mounting hardware. I worked for VW for years & loved the product. I have referred many friends and family to VW. That has now changed. I gave them a chance to help out with the extra cost and they flat out denied to help even in a small amount. This put a very sour taste in my mouth and I will never refer another person to them. Emich is a great dealership but go to their Chevy store not VW. Volkswagen is a greedy, cheating, company that nickel and dimes their clients for any little thing they can. Never again will buy their product & will do everything to advise others against it as well. I dont think it is crazy to expect a 7 pin wiring harness to actually work the one purpose it is designed to work.

I bought a 2008 Volkswagen GTI less than 30 days ago. I noticed on the 2nd day the A/C and the 3rd gear was grinding. I notified the dealership. They said to bring the car in. On the 11th day of owning the vehicle, the car broke down. I notified the dealership that the car was not able to move and that it will need to be towed. They told me they would not pay for the tow and that if it had anything to do for the clutch, they wouldnt pay for that also. So I called my Roadside Assistance and towed the car to the nearest repair shop. They said there that the problem is in the transmission. The dealership still refuses to pay for the tow to their shop. I was also told by the service clerk that she spoke to the owner and he said that they would tow if it had to do with transmission or engine. But they have not done so. I have called and talked to the bank, and they have contacted the dealer. But still, nothing has happened. I call everyday, trying to talk to the owner or manager. And no phone calls have been returned. Theyre not honoring the warranty.

VW Court Settlement Diesel Jetta - I have submitted my paperwork through the claims portal starting in January 2016. Each time, they say I am missing something. I submit the missing work and then theres something else wrong. They have had to reset my account twice saying for various reasons and each time I have to resubmit which starts the paperwork problem again. Something is wrong either with their collection of paperwork or they are stalling.

My vehicle broke down in Florida on a vacation there. I was given roadside assistance as part of their goodwill to the owners that were lied to about the diesel vehicles. The actual dealership that caused the problem covered the cost of the repair but I was told I would be able to go thru roadside assistance trip interruption to get back cost of hotel, gas, food etc. that was incurred because of this. Now after submitting all my receipts that I was told to do I am now denied that because its not a repair that is covered under the new vehicle warranty - that it was the fault of a dealership so they are saying Im out of luck. Ive owned 2 Volkswagens and if they dont make good on this, this one will be my last. None of this was my fault - its the fault of Volkswagen. I did the right thing. I got a tune up and got screwed once again by Volkswagen.

The GTI is one of the best all around cars on the market today as far as overall versatility. It may not be the best in any singular category (performance, mpg, comfort, etc.), but it’s cumulatively better than 90-95% of the cars that it competes against. The GTI’s changes over the model years have been subtle with VW finely tuning & refining a proven & successful platform. I’ve owned cars that were more luxurious, had more performance, were much more aesthetically pleasing design-wise...yet, the 5 GTIs that I own/have owned, have never failed to provide me with an exhilarating drive.

I have been in contact with customer care and they have been completely useless. It takes them at least a week to respond to their own email requests. I can not recommend any certified VW mechanic nor can I recommend VW as a company since their customer care is so abysmal.

I bought the extended warranty and the first time I replaced the radio it was covered only by the extended warranty. 3 years later, the radio stopped working and I was told Volkswagen customer service would not replace it. On May 29, 2015 my car had a crash that I was told made my 2013 unsafe, too expensive to fix not covered under the Bumper to Bumper factory 3 year/36,000 mile warranty. Per the eye witness to my crash, obtained on the Police Report, here is a summary of what happened: The car was in the right lane of a 4 lane road. The speed limit on that part of the road is 40 mph (I had just turned onto the road at the intersection and was not going over 25 mph). The road was wet, smooth pavement and free from any holes, rocks etc. The right front tire canted out of from the car. The car then veered to the left, across a lane of traffic, and hit the concrete divider and steel sign. The witness took pictures immediately showing the right front tire still at an angle to the car, the right front bumper was not touching the curb due to the angle of the impact with the concrete divider. There was no visible sign of damage to the right front portion of the car, other than the obvious tire that remained tilted outward from the car. All damage to the car resulting from the impact with the concrete divider was on the left side of the car.On Wednesday June 15, 2015 the VW Product Engineer came to Missouri to evaluate the probable cause of the crash of my 2013 Passat. Since I believed that I was not getting all of the truth about why my car crashed I also went to where my car was available for inspection and arrived 10 minutes after he was finished with my car. The car was on a rack and I asked the mechanic to identify the right tie rod for me. The right tie rod looked intact as was the left side. I asked him to identify the piece that appeared broken. He said it was the ball joint. This piece was sheared off and each side was in the holder. The ball joint on the left side was in one piece with a top and bottom piece covering it. I asked about the brakes. The right front steel drum was loose and I could wiggle it from side to side. The left side would not move at all.I was called the next day by a person filling in for the representative that had discussed the possible warranty problem with me. I was told that I could not get a copy of the report, could not speak with the Engineer and that his conclusion was NO warranty defects! When I asked how determined how pieces were broken I was told that I must have hit a rock or other object and the parts were broken at impact with the divider. When I asked how the tire fell out while going straight on the road, there was no answer. When I asked how the ball joint was sheared off and I was told that a force from outside the car caused the rod to snap. Not a reasonable answer. I was then told my case would be closed and that I could not discuss this any further. I asked if that meant I should sue them in court to get the answers I was told YES.I do not think you have to be an Engineer to know that the conclusions were made with total disregard to the order of event and the photos of the crash site. If the ball joints are made of metal, steel perhaps?, then it would be impossible to create enough force from the outer side of the tire to cause the ball joint to shear off. There was no damage to the outside of the tire until AFTER the car was drag off off the scene by a tow truck. I suspect that the Engineer decided what caused the wreck before he got to my car and used the scenario of me crashing the car and causing the mechanics to fail. Since the tire chanting out from car happened right before the car veered left and then crashed I do not believe the Product Engineer has this clearly figured out.

On September 16; 2017; I purchased a Golf GTI from Jim Wynn Volkswagen. The car was only 17 miles when I drove out of the dealership. I have a work vehicle that I use on a daily basis so this car is for my personal use. On February 17, 2018, I was at a red light on Philadelphia US 1 with clutch in and in first gear, I tried to move when the light turned green but the car wont drive. The clutch was depressed. I turned the ignition off, put the gear in neutral, the hand brake up, and put on my four-way pointer. I was able to pull up the clutch with my feet. With the clutch in, I started the car and tried to shift to first gear but couldnt shift gear. I had the car towed initially to my parents house and on February 19, I eventually towed to Jim Wynn dealership. At this point, my car only has 318 Miles on it. It is practically a new vehicle and my expectation is that my warranty will cover any related issues. On 2/20/18, I was informed by the Jim Wynn dealership that they need my authorization before they can look at the car and I will be responsible for $2,600. I was in shocked because this is obviously a manufacturable defect. The service manager, Michael ** said to take it up with Volkswagen Customer Care. I called Volkswagen Customer Care to report the issue and I was told that an agent will contact me. On 02/21/2018 @ 1301, I received a call from Volkswagen Customer Care. I stated my position on the issue. I told them I shouldnt have to pay for a warranty issue on a new car with only about 300 miles on it. The agent was very disrespectful and he told me that Im welcome to take my car somewhere else if I dont like Volkswagen position on my warranty issue. I asked for another agent perhaps his supervisor and have stated that he is the only one that would be able to help me. I asked that he send me an email regarding Volkswagen position on my warranty issue, he stated that hell get to it whenever he can. As a customer, I am frustrated, speechless, and appalled by the customer service I received from both Jim Wynn Volkswagen and Volkswagen Customer Service.

I leased a new Jetta on November 25th, 2014, from strong VW in Salt Lake City Utah, but the very next day realized I would not be able to financially afford it. I made a big mistake. SO I went back to take the car back the next day on the 26th (I know there would be some fees to pay). The gm basically told me that leasing from them is buying the car, and there is nothing he can do and I have to learn the hard way and take the car. He also stated that the money has already been issued out and they were already paid. Also that taking the car back would be like me working for a day and then telling me that I would not be paid. He kept stating that it wasnt like Walmart, and when I asked him about the early termination statement in the lease he asked for it, and said that he doesnt have one because everything is on the computer and so they dont have a copy of it. BS! Everyone I have shown the contract said that I should be able to return it. The GMs tone of voice was very degrading, I felt very bullied. Also my sister-in-law was there with me and can testify to this. Please help!

When purchasing a VW product be aware of the total cost of ownership. Many VW parts are proprietary and the Company charges accordingly. For example, changing the battery on a key fob - $75 (requires programming), to replacing a door latch (including labor) $471.57, supplying an air conditioning hose (part only) $368.39. These are actual prices. When asked about their pricing policy VW North American provided an answer containing verbiage but no substance.

I turned in my 2015 TDI diesel sportwagen on December 30, 2016 to Santa Monica Volkswagen. On a car which had real aftermarket depreciation, as it was an in-demand car recalled two months after I bought it, I was given $10k less than purchase price, and they did not factor in the ($1,500) upgrades I added on (custom light package, mats). I received my paltry settlement three days later - however, Volkswagen of America has NOT paid VW credit. I am not getting charged late fees for a car I no longer own. Both VW credit and the CSR at VW Claims recommend I make the car payment that was due on 12/31. When I met face to face with my ambassador who helped with the paperwork, he told me all fees would be settled immediately - so why would I not believe them??? Was considering an AllTrack - glad I passed, as I want nothing to do with VW ever again. I called VW corporate and they apologized. As if that matters.

I want to put it out there that Volkswagen is the WORST car ever made. I bought my 2010 Volkswagen CC in 2013. From the first year I bought it, I have had nothing but problems. In July of 2015, I was in the line at Taco Bell, and my car just died. It would die EVERY TIME I stopped the car (at a red light, parked, etc.). I had to have the Fuel Pump control module replaced. In December 2015, I had to have sensors replaced. In June 2016, I have had my engine replaced when I took it in for the Steering Column Defective message. In July 2016, my Steering Column Defective message popped up yet again, so I took it in again. They replaced the Steering Control Module. A week later, the Steering Column Lock Defective message popped up again. I took the car back in and they replaced the Immobilizer. Its been about a week since I picked it up and today, the check engine light is on YET AGAIN. Let me just say, I dont miss oil changes, I do not rag my car out. I am a responsible adult who drives 16 minutes to work everyday and 16 minutes home. I do not take it across the country. I take care of my car, but this has been nothing but problems. Problems that are not maintenance. There have been recalls on the engine and the parts for the steering column lock defective issues. My VIN wasnt on that list, but yet Ive had the problems. My warranty company has put $10,000 into this car in the last 2 months. I have spent $800+ in repairs out of my pocket. My car isnt even at 100,000 miles yet. This company has done NOTHING to help me with these issues. I have contacted corporate on MULTIPLE occasions about this and they wont do a thing. This car also has the airbag recall. I tried to trade it in (AT VOLKSWAGEN) and they said because it has the recall, they cant give me but $6,000 for it. $6,000 for my car that I paid $16,000 for and that has MULTIPLE BRAND NEW MAJOR ITEMS!!! So not only is this car unsafe because of how it was put together and the parts that keep going bad, if I get in a wreck, my airbag may have metal come through and stab me in the face and kill me! But they dont seem to care about that. Trust me, buy a Toyota or an American car. My fiance has a 2010 Toyota FJ Cruiser and has had to replace the battery once. Thats it. He bought it a year and a half before I bought mine. Volkswagen, Im meeting with my attorney next week to get this fixed. It isnt right and the fact my car is constantly unsafe and you do not care, proves that you have no conscience as a company!

Hi, I bought my Polo GT from Bhopal on August 10, 2017. I was very happy with the car until I met an accident and gave it for repairs at the Bhopal service centre. I have owned Hondas and Suzukis, but I swear to God I’ve never had such a bad experience with service ever before. I left my car for repairs at the service centre and it took more than 35 days for them to just fix a door, which by the way wasn’t even fixed properly. When you close it, there is still a gap between the door and the body of the car. Every time they promised me to deliver my car on a certain date and every time they went back on it. They kept me waiting. There was also some issue with my insurance that Mr ** never clearly told me about. Now, when I sent my car for repairs again about 6 days ago, they told me that they would fix everything and give it back in 4 days, but they took 2 more days. I thought it was ok and 2 days was not such a big deal. But, when I got my car back last night, the number plate was broken and there is some issue with the coolant. Not a single repair was done instead, the car came back in a worse condition. When we went to give the car for repairs, one of their drivers even took a test drive and admitted that there was an alignment issue, but nothing was done to fix it. The problem still persists.I really don’t know what to do at this point and this has taken a lot of my time. I’m writing to you after going through a lot of trouble. Please help me out as soon as you can. I’d like to lodge a complaint against Mr ** and Mr Rk ** who have been of no help. They both have consistently been lying to me. Last night as soon as I got my car back with a broken number plate, I called ** to inquire but his phone was switched off and he hasn’t been answering my calls today. Extremely disappointed and hopeful for some help from your side!

I bought a brand new 2007 VW Beetle six years ago in Huntsville, AL and I hate it. What do you hate about your Beetle? Heres a long list of why I hate this car: I bought the plastic seats. The sales man said the new, modern plastic fabric doesnt burn your buns and soak your pants with sweat in the summer. He said neither does the new, modern plastic fabric give your buns a bad case of frostbite in the winter. He told a bunch of big, fat lies about the new, modern plastic fabric. I have to sit on a towel as do my passengers. So embarrassing.Buttons started breaking within 2 months of purchase: lock buttons, window buttons, radio buttons. Within 3 months of purchase, water or something like it mysteriously appeared on the floor board on the driver side on two occasions during dry weather: once on the driver side in front of the front seat and once on the driver side in front of the rear seat. A towel got wet and my book bag got wet and caused my textbooks to mold. At least one headlight burns out every six months. The cost to have it replaced ranges from $60 to $80. The whole headlight assembly has to be removed to replace the light. Recently, both headlights burned out within two weeks. I realized it when I drove onto the interstate at night and couldnt see a thing. Scary. The lower front ball joints busted and had to be replaced. The overhead lining eventually came completely unglued. Have you ever come completely unglued? When it dropped down in the back, I had to pull off the road and cut it off with a pair of scissors so that I could see out the rear window. Now, the interior looks really ugly. Water started pouring out from under the front dash onto the passenger side floorboard whenever it rained. I had to take it in twice to get it fixed. If I open the back hatch when its raining or shortly after a rain, water that has collected around the rim of the hatch pours onto the back passenger seat. This may explain why cloth fabric wasnt an option for this car.Water collects in the spare tire well. I stored the owners manual there and it got soaked and covered with mold. The windshield wiper on the driver side skips and makes a loud, distracting noise. Ive tried expensive wipers, cheap wipers, VW wipers. They all skip and make an awful noise on the driver side on this windshield. Accelerating from a stop is choppy. The air conditioner doesnt get cold above 85 degrees and barely gets cold below 85 degrees. The matte coating on the door handles is peeling off as well as on the gearshift assembly. After all the water issues, the interior now smells moldy. So far, there has been one recall: to reposition a fuel supply line to prevent a fire. All the items that I listed above that required parts and labor, cost TIME or MONEY or LOST WAGES or all three to get fixed. Before you buy a VW Beetle, consider the consequences very, very, very carefully... If you bought a VW Beetle, do you hate it? If yes, why? If no, why not?

Lost my only remote and key for my Volkswagen 2010 Golf. Recently purchase this car and the Remote/key worked perfect. I lost the remote and Remote/key a couple of days ago. Went to the Bozzani Volkswagen in Covina California, and order a new Remote/key for $300 plus. The key was ready in 2 business days and my car was towed to the dealer so Remote/key can be programmed. The Remote/key was program by the dealer. The remote didnt worked, but the key was able to start the car. The dealer told me that most likely was a wiring problem and they need to run a diagnostics on the car. How can that be? If the original Remote/key worked just fine. Im getting ready to contact the dealer again and tell them that I cant pay for the diagnostics since seems that the problem is the way the programmed the key. They really need to take care of this issue. They are responsible since they programmed the Remote/key. I will update this review once I contact the dealer again and see what they are planning to do about this issue. If they take care of the issue I definitely will give them a good review.

I brought my 2013 VW Jetta back to the VW dealership for the buyback on March the 24th. They were supposed to have a check ready for me when I delivered the vehicle. They apparently lost it. We received an initial letter saying further instructions for banking info for the direct deposit would follow. Nothing came. After several calls I get told (like others) the claim has been escalated. After another phone call to their claims department I was asked if I had a firewall set up on my email account. I said yes so they asked if I had a personal email account. I was informed it will take 7 to 10 business days to get a email to our gmail account.I called them today the 11th of April for status. We get told they have tried calling to give us information. We never received any such calls. They are liars which is proven by the mess they are in right now. They have now given us a Canadian fax number to send information to. I dont understand that. We now get told it will take another 7 to 10 business days to receive the funds which I highly doubt. It seems Volkswagen is doing everything they can to stall. We have several VWs in our company and after this I will not deal with them again. Completely incompetent company. My 1st car was a mark 1 Golf, purchased November of 1984. In 7 years, I racked up 300,000 km and it served me very well. Sure there was maintenance required, a few repairs and issues that required warranty claims, some that were not covered, but the value of ownership outweighed the costs.By enlarge, my VWs have been reliable, practical and most of all fun to drive and own. I re-titled my car from VA to IL in late 2019. After receiving my state transfer packet from VW, I called them before I went to the DMV and told them I thought I was missing a document in my packet. They assured me I had everything I needed. When I went to the DMV, they informed me I was missing a document that I told VW I needed earlier in the day. This caused a significant delay in re-titling. I had to pre-pay my taxes on the car for 2019. I submitted paperwork to VW showing that I had retitled the vehicle so I could receive a credit on the taxes I had already paid, and they told me I would have a resolution in 6-8 weeks. It has been almost 3 months and I have still not heard back on my status. Every time I call and talk to a customer service representative, they promise me they will get an answer by the end of the day and will call me back. I have yet to receive a call back. I have absolutely had it. Their agents do not care about making sure I receive the money I am due-I truly wonder if they are just holding on to the funds from the state of VA and not forwarding them on to me. I have a 2011 Jetta Sportwagen, which for the most part has performed well. However recently Ive had a problem with my rear seat-belts seizing up and no longer working. I took them to the dealer and was charged $120 for them to look at it, tell me it would need replacement and I would have to pay $1200 because my car was no longer under warranty. I informed them I purchased the Platinum extended warranty and they said it was not covered. I contacted VW of America. After about a week I finally received a phone call and was told by a Jenny ** that she would see what she could do. A few days later she called back and said I was out of warranty, but they would supply the parts free of charge, but I would have to pay for installation. I told them I appreciated the gesture, but felt that a 3 year old vehicle should not have this issue. I wanted them to stand behind their product and replace the seat belts. I asked to speak to a supervisor and got the runaround, until she finally agreed to talk to her supervisor. Instead of a supervisor coming on the line after I sat waiting to dead air for 5 minutes or so, Jenny came back on and said SHE spoke to the supervisor and the supervisor agreed with her position. I bought a 2008 Volkswagen EOS in 2008. My car leaks when it rains. I have brought it in to the dealership multiple times. They said they replaced the seals but it is still leaking. My car has been leaking for two years. Every time I bring it in, I have to find another ride to work and back to the dealership.I am concerned about health problems if there is mold growing under the seats. I am also concerned that the leaking water may be causing rusting in spots that I cant see. My door panel has the vinyl peeling off in one spot and they are fixing it tomorrow.I really hate my Volkswagen EOS, that I paid $38,000 for 3 years ago. It has been nothing but trouble and stress. I bought this car thinking it would be a nice vehicle that would last me for many years to come. It is not made of good quality like I would expect from a company such as Volkswagen.

I have a 2017 Touareg and the power steering went out almost two weeks ago (30k miles). I took it to the dealer immediately and they seemed to have issues figuring out how to fix it. They told me they were working with VW corporate to resolve it. After two days of nothing happening, I reached out to corp VW myself and got assigned to Colin **. His scripted emails were fluff and he wouldnt return my calls. The local dealer is telling me they cant figure it out and corp is telling me to take it 100 miles to another dealer to have it looked at. They love you when they are trying to sell you a car but they show no interest in providing good warranty service. If I could turn back the clock, I would not buy a VW.. Too many problems, a corporate CARELESS team that is checked out.

The last car on the lot was a demo and the only one they said I could have. It has had electronic problems since day 1. Windshield wipers turn on by themselves. Bluetooth and radio audio are sporadic at best. It’s a lemon that was left on the lot as a demo and they saw a way to dump it on a Customer who had been screwed on their lease agreement.

I just took delivery of my 2014 Jetta Hybrid on Saturday. No easy way to put it but the claimed MPG for this Hybrid is BS. I have been driving it just highway miles and on cruise and only 2 mph over the speed limit 67 and I have been averaging 30 mpg. Which ** stinks. My reasoning for trading in my 2012 Audi was to get better gas mileage, which is not what is advertised on the sticker of 42 city and 48 highway. I am absolutely furious to say the least since I am well into a half a tank and only 200 miles. This is completely false advertising in the side of the manufacturer.I am so upset you have no idea. Just in the last 6 years, I have had 4 VWs and have been extremely loyal to the brand. I had an 2012 Audi and traded that since I was getting 28-30 mpg and driving much more. Since the Jetta is advertised at 42 city and 48 highway, I knew this was going to be a significant gain. This car is nowhere near what is claimed and I am completely upset about this. I will also be reach out to others on this matter.

They were slightly apologetic the last time and they realized it was their fault and towed my car back to my house the next day. To restart my account, I was told I can only pay through MoneyGram. So I found out today that MoneyGram never processed my payment, so hence the repeat repossession. If they could just take my payment right there and then through the phone, there wouldnt be this headache. The deception/lie that Volkswagen did on the diesel cars will affect you as a regular fuel Volkswagen car owner when it comes to trading in your car for something other than the bad reputation VW now. Be prepared to be ** when you get your trade in value as the dealerships are going to give you “Auction” since no one trusts VW anymore. They are concerned that if they were deceitful with the diesel, what’s to stop VW from making false claims about the gas VW’s. I have a 2015 VW Passat Limited, in excellent condition, financed for 4 yrs at 0% financing and my trade is worth $7,500 at “Auction” per the other than VW dealerships (Dec 23, 2016), I have NEVER been upside down on trading in a vehicle before, and note, this isn’t upside down, this is **, over $7k upside down. I bought brand new Volkswagen 2010 from dealership in Kansas City. It was serviced regularly by the VW dealers. One evening, I came back from the work, parked the car in my driveway and next morning, the car would not start. I towed the car to the service center at the dealership and they say it needs a new motor. A 74K mile Volkswagen needs a new motor. I asked the reason and the service manager says oil level was low in the car and the car if out of the warranty now. This car was service by VW dealer in Lees Summit before 3 months of the breakdown, its Check Engine indicator never got turned on, the car does not consume oil and all of a sudden the engine failed. The service center says they serviced the car properly, dealership says its out of manufacturers warranty and I am stuck with this expense of $11000. The car does not have a single dent on its body, its trim, interior is all like a new car but the engine is bad. After spending enormous time talking to the dealership, service center, VW area manager, district manager and all, we concluded that this is the last Volkswagen in my life. And me and my entire family has become a great anti-Volkswagen advocate. Absolutely shameless managers, irresponsible service center and liar manufacturer. We advise all the readers to avoid buying any product of Volkswagen. Buy it if you want to throw away your hard earned money in drain.

A local dealer owns the three local dealers so it could be them but since we have no other options it is really neither here nor there. We purchased a new Volkswagen CC R-line in 2012. We followed the recommended service for it, which said 10,000 miles, or once a year. Each year they have rotated the tires and recommended alignment, at extra cost, which we did. Several weeks ago we took the car in for its third service with just over 30,000 miles, and they told us we needed new tires due to excessive cupping of the tires. We never expected to have to replace tires at 30,000 miles and asked the service manager, and technician why this occurred. They said it was obviously out of alignment and thats why it happened. Now, after reading numerous complaints about this issue online about this very same car and people being quoted as being told by some VW service people that the car actually needs alignment every 3,000 miles and more frequent tire rotation, maybe every 3,000 to 5,00 miles, we are wondering why VW is not getting this message out to consumers of this product. It could be a safety issue, when they are not telling us that the cupping occurs, and the tires are worn, especially as you are riding on a low profile tire to begin with. We replaced the tires with Continentals after they presented us with 3 tire options. They specifically told us All 3 choices are good tires. One week after the tire replacements, we were riding down a street near home and the tire light came on for the front passenger side tire, and the pressure began steadily going down. Luckily we were very close to home, and after pulling in the driveway, we could hear the air escaping the tire, flattening it completely within an hour. So we are calling VW tomorrow. No damage occurred to this tire, its brand new, and we wonder whats going on.It cost us over $1000 for these new tires. The car only had 30,000 miles on it!!! After looking at all the brand new tires, we are noticing they have all started turning a dark gray color in large areas of the rubber, in the week that we have had them. We plan on getting the car back to Volkswagen as soon as possible, but were unable to put the spare on, since apparently they forgot to replace the tools in our trunk which are necessary to change the tire to the spare, when they recently replaced the tires. We know no damage occurred to this car. Now we are reading about problems with Continental tires online as well. So why did they recommend the continental tires to us? So WV has not been forthcoming with info on this car to us or many other consumers, relating to cupped tire issues which may be avoided with a different maintenance protocol for the original tires (more frequent rotations, and alignment twice a year??) and then they recommend replacing them with perhaps a suspect tire? AND, after recommending replacing, they didnt tell us that the issue could have been avoided, because they want to stick to the illusion they have created to customers that these cars are good to go, once a year service, and you are done!! They totally acted like we were the only customer who had had this problem. Well, consumer sites on the internet tell the story, and its not a new one. VW needs to step up and start telling people the defect that exists with the RR C-line, and that it affects EVERYONE!

Im very frustrated at the fact that Im driving a car that has a potential safety issue and I usually have my 5 yr and 13 month old children with me. I bought the VW Tiguan because it was rated #1 for safety when my older child was 1 yr old. My car has had many problems and has spent 1000s of dollars in repair. But what has got me furious is the fact that on the morning of Friday July 25 2014. As I was leaving my parents house from dropping my kids and getting ready to go to work I started my car but the Power steering was gone completely. The Tiguan started and I could drive forward and back but the steering wheel did not move at all, as if it was locked but it was not and the power steering failure light came on in the dashboard. The Tiguan is almost 4 yrs old and about 73 thousand miles on it. But I do not think age is the issue with this problem, its just a design flaw from VW. This problem has me very concern because what if I was driving on the freeway and the power steering failed then? I could only imagine what could have happen. What if my children were with me? This problem is unacceptable, inexcusable and life threatening. This is a very serious safety issue with the Tiguan. My Tiguan was towed to a VW dealerships car shop and they told me there that they never heard of such problem with the Tiguan models. I search on the web and it turns out there are several hundredth 2009-2011 VW Tiguans owners that have had that same problem, and to fix the Tiguan it would be $2,045 dollars. The service rep suggested I call VW customer service. I did call and they were very nice and told me that they were going to see if they could help me with the repair. Next day I get a call from them and told me that they were not going to do anything about it because my Tiguan had more than 70,000 miles and was way out of warranty. This power steering problem has nothing to do with the Tiguans age. Other people that have had this exact same experience and only had their Tiguan for 2 months with 1,800 miles on and the problem keeps reoccurring! Warranty or no warranty this is a design flaw and should be covered by VW. Also in my opinion this is an issue worth a major recall but so far VW seems to be waiting for the first deaths to occur before they will react. There is always possibility that in traffic, the power steering really could go any moment.Something should be done about it!!! Before an innocent family dies!!! Help!!! In the meantime I will tell my story in the social media, to people, in the news if I can, in the radio if I can, report it to BBB, and make consumer reports anywhere I can etc., etc. I am now very scared to be driving the Tiguan. Its not safe and I dont feel safe! In other peoples Tiguan that have had the same problem it just keeps reoccurring after being fixed. VW has lost a loyal customer forever!

My VW Jetta has some trouble starting today. So I took it to VW of Coconut Creek, FL to have it checked out. They said they would charge me $138.50 for diagnosis and if I get the device done after that, they would apply this charge against the service. They found the problem with my battery and replaced it, however they didn’t deduct the diagnosis charge from final invoice. They charged me ~$300 ($147 for new battery, $138.50 for diagnosis and test shop supplies, misc and tax). When I asked, they said the$138.50 was for installing the battery and setting it up. That is just bizarre. They just made up something to charge me more. I am reporting this so people are aware of this practice and avoid using this dealer as much as possible.

When I purchased my 2012 VW Passat I was told by the salesperson at Taylor Volkswagen that it came with All Season radials, good for all weather conditions. After having a horrible time driving in the city through two winters I decided to check the specs on the Hankook tires that came with the car. Here they are only good for driving in a small amount of snow, not in heavier snow or cold climates like in Saskatchewan. I approached the dealer to have them explain why they would have a car shipped to Canada with tires that are not suitable for our climate. No response. I also wanted replacement or compensation for this gross error in judgment of tire selection. I was told, even by the sales manager, that the company policy is that there is no compensation or replacement on matters such as this. I feel that the dealership and VW are negligent in advising and selling cars with tires that are not suitable for our climatic conditions.

When I called, the salesperson told me it would be another week. When I called again, he told me that they would let me know when the part came in so there was no need to call. I called again at the four-week mark and was put on hold for several minutes. When the salesman finally got back on the line, he explained to me that there had been a glitch in the system on the day I ordered and that it would be at least two more weeks. When I got upset and said that it sounded like he was covering for someone who had messed up, the response was, Yes, maam. Im not sure what he was acknowledging. Needless to say, it is two weeks later and I still dont have the part. So my cute, little Beetle that I am still paying for is sitting in my garage and I cannot get the dealer to come through. I just bought my car (used) five months ago with +_ 52,000 miles on it. Great carfax, nothing wrong with the car. A little over a week ago, the timing chain slipped and destroyed the engine, causing thousands of dollars in repairs. I have contacted everyone I can think of for assistance with this issue; considering the car only has a little over 61,000 miles on it now. Volkswagen has offered no help with the problem whatsoever. Considering this is a defect in the manufacturing of the vehicle, I would think they would offer some assistance considering the amount of trouble they are in now with the TDI trouble they are in. I have owned three cars previously and never had such a horrible experience with them. I went with Volkswagen because I was under the impression they were a reliable and dependable car. They are far from that. Because of this issue, I now have a car loan for the next 5 years and no car to show for it. I have researched this issue and its not just me with the problem. Many other people have had the same issue before 100,000 miles on their VW as well. If you are considering this brand, DONT! They are of no help and have so many loopholes in their warranty so when something catastrophic happens, you wont be covered. There are so many other car brands out there. Go with someone else. VW is a HUGE disappointment in customer service and reliability. Hopefully, with the current lawsuit they have against them, they will go out of business so no one else has this problem.

I have a 2013 VW Jetta TDI which I love. Recently, back in July, the fuel pump went. I had my car towed to VW Service in a town near me to get the problem diagnosed (even though I knew what it was) and to get warranty work performed. This process took 30 days! My car was in the service department for a MONTH! This is unacceptable. They first had to order a fuel kit, then extract fuel, send the fuel to a 3rd party, wait to get the fuel back. Decide if it was covered by VW under powertrain warranty, then order the parts for the fuel pump. First of all, this car has less than 40,000 miles. I was so irritated. I wrote to the dealer & corporate and they both said this is the process so thats that. Thats insane! I dont care about my loaner car, I spent more in gasoline in a month than I normally would. What a joke. Thinking about trading this car in before more things go wrong and they have to keep it for another month.

Brake control on the passenger side of my new VW Golf (2016) - Travelling along the M6 just overtaking when wheels locked up - managed to gain control and continue also causing myself to be slightly injured to the hand. Reason passenger pressed a lever/switch on the passengers side thinking it would open a lid. It was the parking brake which locked the wheels and nearly caused a serious accident as the controls are on the passenger side. This could happen again easily and our biggest problem: we have four children so one often sits in the front seat. This has made the wife dreading taking the car out, maybe would, could blank it off with tape or a cover while the problem is rectified? Strange that VW spend so much on research and make a fundamental design problem. It could be that a wrong console has been fitted and one from a left hand drive installed. This could be checked out by looking at a left hand drive car? Check out the showroom that all Golfs have the controls on the passenger side, I have now found out that the design fault is only on right hand cars. I think it was a money saving idea not to fit the switches on the drivers side which I pointed out to the VW person contacting me which he was not aware of. He also informed me if I do anything to try to make it safer it would void the guarantee of the car. Said there was no plans for this to be correct in the future and no more correspondence would be entered into. The incident has made my wife paranoid about having a child on the front passenger seat. I could tape up the switches or try to build a box around them but it really is a dangerous design fault. We tell passengers not to touch them when they get into the passenger seat. The incident happened on a motorway at about 70 miles per hour just as I was about to overtake. Fortunately, as I was doing an overtaking maneuver, there was no one behind me. I injured my hand on the steering wheel and twisted my neck - the pain which only lasted the rest of the day. I did contact the dealer in January who sold me the new car and reported the fault - they have contacted me and it seems that they only offer me understanding of what I experienced but said I saw what I buying in the showroom and all the VW Golfs are build like this. I did point out that was not correct and it is just the Right Hand drive models that have this arrangement. Would like to know if I am the only person that has complained or experience about this fault?

BUYER BEWARE!!!! My wife and I have been leasing a VW Tiguan for the last 2 years and recently experienced a nightmare of an an issue. A recent monthly payment was not pulled from her bank accurately and instead of contacting me, the lessor, it became delinquent and they reported to the credit agencies. After several dispute letters explaining the issue, they just deny...deny...with no explanation!! I call VW customer service who explains that the Credit department does not have a phone #, so you cant even talk to the person that handles the issue. Thank you VW for ruining my excellent 15 year credit history! I will be sure to never do business with this organization again and make it my personal mission to tell others to do the same.

I was unemployed and needed help regarding my car payment. Volkswagen of America agreed to make one payment 15 days before my 30 day late notice which would affect my credit score. They did not make the payment in a timely manner and my credit was severely blemished. It took almost a month for the payment to be made and unbelievably they put a stop payment on the check and my credit was hit again. They then made an electronic payment. And they have allegedly let the credit bureaus know to remove the derogatory remarks. Not one person at Volkswagen of America has apologized. Awful. Will hopefully rid myself of my current VW soon. No more.

Really not happy! I have received a notification from the DMV that I will not be able to register my 2012 Golf unless I provide a certificate with proof of airbag correction. It states that I should contact my local dealer for a free repair and gives a phone number to call if problems occur 1-800-242-4450. Well the dealer acts as if its not their problem and the operator on the 1-800 help line says he has never heard of this!!! I was instructed to ask the DMV what I should do!!! Really!?! I paid $30,000 for a 2012 Diesel Golf that now has an airbag that can kill me and a total fraud in the emissions category!! I have no faith that VW will make good. So very disappointed. I will never buy a VW again.

I bought a 2018 VW Atlas SE Tech, terrible vehicle. DO NOT buy this vehicle! The safety system does not work. The start and stop system makes you accelerate rapidly when its on and you start moving your car (so, you may hit a car in front of you if its too close). The ICRS system does not work. The car will not brake for you. I have tested it many times COUNTLESS times and the system does not engage. Short of hitting another car or a pedestrian I cannot get closer to the real incident to prove it works. Lastly, if you are in an area that uses prime (water mixed with salt) do not buy this car. It will cause an accident. The car has driven me onto incoming traffic headed the other way, I had to drive off the road to avoid a collision. I took it to the dealership and they said it works, but did not prove it. I had to take their word. I tried crashing the car again to see if it works. IT DOESNT!! So, do not spend your money in that vehicle.

Bought a brand new Volkswagen Beetle two months ago from West Cape Volkswag
Bought a brand new Volkswagen Beetle two months ago from West Cape Volkswagen. It was delivered with a fault on the sunroof and with the central locking function. Taken to the dealers workshop three times, each time failing to fix the problem and adding more problems. Now the headlights dont work either and I am unable to drive after dark or in bad weather. The car was also returned with a dent in the dash, for which the dealer is not accepting responsibility. They refuse to replace the vehicle, insisting on trying to fix it yet again. Took it to the nearest dealer today to get the lights fixed just so I can get by over the weekend. They couldnt assist. They advised me to call out the roadside assistance, which I did, only for them to pull up their shoulders in ignorance too. Over R300k spent on a car that is unsafe, not roadworthy and with several faults and damages caused by the dealership. Think twice about buying Volkswagen. What should have been the pleasure of a new car is now much more trouble than its worth. Volkswagen SA keeps referring me back to the dealer and refuses contact with their senior management.

Faulty cord causing airbag light sensor. I have a 2003 volkswagen beetle. I had an airbag sensor light go off on my dashboard recently. I got it checked out by a local mechanic and he finally came to the conclusion that it had something to do with a cord under my passenger seat. I have researched this issue and found that it is a very common problem with volkswagen. I had never even seen this light on before. I contacted volkswagen of america and was told in a response email that I would be contacted within 2 business days. Over a week passed, and I had to call them to check on the status of my request. I was then told that they responded, which I never received. Also, they even admitted in the notes that the customer service advocate read back to me, that they conducted research and are simply not willing to cover the cost to correct the problem due to the age of my car. It is a 2003 not a 1980. At what point does a timeline for correcting a defect expire and who decides this? This is a major safety hazard for me and very inconvenient. With the sensor going off, the airbag is currently disabled. I cannot allow any passengers to ride with me. I do not feel that I should have to cover the cost of a faulty part out of my control, especially when there are many many other cases with the same issue. I am very disappointed in the way my request was handled.

I have had nothing but poor customer service experience with VW USA Custome
I have had nothing but poor customer service experience with VW USA Customer Care. When I called the dealership where I purchased the car in panic after my car brakes failed on the freeway - the salesman did not invite me - ever - to check my car, which is an accident waiting to happened. It is nothing short of a miracle my kids are still alive due to my car stalling at a major and busy street in Los Angeles at least on two different occasions.I have contacted VW Customer Care before the car was stalling - when the driver door was about to fall off - mind you I am 411 tall and weigh 100 lbs. I later contacted VW USA Customer Care again when I started having brake failures and they did nothing whatsoever except waiting for them to get back to me (in a week or so) and then saying that they cant do anything. So when my car started having stalling episodes (2 of them on major streets in Los Angeles), I did not bother contacting VW USA Customer Care but went to the dealership that said they do not see a problem and that they run the car computer system something of that sort and everything looks good.I also like to say that every time I went to the dealership, I had to make sure the right description of what has happened is put down on the work order and not what might look better on paper. Not having a loaner car when I pay almost $400 a month for my car that keeps breaking down is a terrible business practice. The Sun Visor hitting my eye could put me out of work. Fire coming out of the charger while I was driving traumatize both - my very young children and I - Please note that since then, none of the car chargers has been working so I have to rely on a portable charger I have purchased. I truly appreciate your willingness to help but I have lost faith that anything will be resolved because if VW Customer Care did not care that my childrens life and my life are in danger driving a Volkswagen, then why would they care now that my lease is almost ending? True. VW still does not care.

I live in Oregon and its Nov 2014 and my Beetle has been leaking inside the cabin behind the drivers seat for over a month. I took it to the Herzog-Meier VW dealer shop and paid $581 for the repair. They said it was the seal of the 3rd break light that was broken. After the repair I paid for inside car detail to get rid of the mildew. Now 3 weeks later I have a pond behind the seat again. Have I been tricked? I Googled for VW beetle water leak and I find all sort of engineering problems with sunroof and windshield drains related to this vehicle and I recall. Who owns informing consumers? Isnt the dealer supposed to know? The mildew is getting me sick and I rely on this vehicle.

Volkswagen Atlas w/ Lane Assist & Adaptive Cruise Control - Cell phone
Volkswagen Atlas w/ Lane Assist & Adaptive Cruise Control - Cell phone jammed the locks from opening. Cell phone jammed the keyless start on many occasions. SUV can be driven remotely and was when a hacker (twice) took over steering and the gas pedal via the Adaptive Cruise Control. The vehicle sped hard up to 85mph. Eventually VW bought back the vehicle in its entirety but all the vehicles with this type of semi-autonomous or autonomous technology should be recalled and pulled from the roads. It’s too easy to hack them. Vehicles can get viruses via the cell phone and through the Bluetooth. An architect / engineer at GM shared this conversation with me whilst trying to help me diagnose my problem with my vehicle/s.After the VW hacks the vehicle was never the same and couldn’t stay in the middle of the road. It would ride the center line or pull approx 18” over center before the sensors realized a problem. You’re supposed to be able to take your hands off the steering wheel for up to 8-9 seconds. There is no way to do this because you’d be in a ditch or under a semi truck. It’s a product defect and foundations of the technology is not stable.Sadly, I’ve reached out to the attorneys to help but most say they need about 50 deaths first. I say how much is your life worth to you? I have videos and photos to support the other people who are interested in their own business opportunities for a meeting with the customer and likewise for the insurance liability company. It’s the insurance liability companies that fall on the sword and they are responsible for the damages. Now that they understand how the game works for me and my family and friends and family I hope the insurance companies have more sense to get this mess cleaned up here and with the other automotive companies looking forward to deploying more autonomous vehicles on the road. When was it ever a good idea to put P.C. technology under the hood of a car? The spying and espionage the result of certain always on connected devices to a vehicles connected and networked system is connected to the internet and to the point it is broke globally due to technology corruption issues related to issues with the other people who are responsible for the other things they are doing with the other people. It’s not cool and a global technology problem for the future of the automotive industry will help fix it all over again and the repair man denied that he saw any issues. Total waste of time and money. Completely unnecessary to work with me for the next meeting with the customer but a forced payment for the work to share with my insurance company helped insurance companies and the can increase the charges for insurance liability for the high-risk deathbed. Whistleblower for me and for whichever attorney I will need help with the insurance liability company and the money back to me for the problems that I experienced as a result of those issues related to the problems that they were not able to help fix. Thank you very much for your help and change the insurance liability company to be more of a voice or and stop the production of these the liabilities. These vehicles need to die on the line. If you’re interested in that it may actually help you to save money and you can help fix the problems with that and your companies will be responsible for the insurance liability and only to get the money back to the customer with damages due to the problems with the known product defects. Hopefully I get a chance to see you soon and I work with you on these issues. I’ve got more of a handle of these problems and more than anybody else in this area.

Every time I call regarding my issue I get the runaround from a representative, obviously reading from a script. I called over 3 times in one day asking to speak to a manager, and the last time it was almost as if I was put on hold for her to go take a smoke break, and still have not been in contact with anyone other than a first level customer service rep who cant do anything to resolve my situation. Its obvious that Volkswagen Corporate has the power and I am just a little mouse. They feed the customer service reps the lines and even though they know very well that I am being wronged, I have no way of speaking to anyone who has the power to resolve the issue so I am completely powerless. Volkswagen corporation is evil and corrupt to the core. I will stop at nothing to prevent everyone I come across for the rest of my life to never buy a Volkswagen and to never let anyone they know to buy a Volkswagen.

On March 18th 2014 I brought my Jetta into the dealership for its spa treat
On March 18th 2014 I brought my Jetta into the dealership for its spa treatment (part of the sales agreement on March 30, 2014). Upon completion of detailing, 2 chunks of paint had fallen off the running boards. During the walk-around with the Service Associate I told her that I often had people approach me to say that my car had been hit as the running boards had indentations on the rear and forward portions. The indentations matched on both sides of the car in which I believed was the body style. The Service Associate said she had never noticed the body style of the 2014 running boards and thought it was unique but didnt have any concerns as they were matching on both sides and agreed that it was a body style. When I returned to pick up my Jetta, the Service Associate said she had really bad news. She said she had spoken to their Sales Associate and this definitely was not a body style and in fact there was significant damage to my vehicle. A VW salesman quickly joined the conversation and claimed the indentations were caused from a hoist. I told them the only hoist my car was on was their hoist in August 2, 2014 when it was in for the first free 15,000 km oil change. I was presented an invoice for over $250.00 at the time. They had rotated my tires, and performed the 6-month service check on their own accord. I refused to pay the invoice as I specifically asked only for the oil change - nothing more. The salesman said you cant prove we did the damage; its way too late for that! He began aggressively arguing while the Service Associate said this is not the policy of Volkswagen and they would go good for any damage caused as their service department. She checked the service records and confirmed my vehicle had been in their service shop and asked me to get 2 quotes and they would do the same. She confirmed the auto body shop that I would go to was a customer of theirs and agreed they would be good to go to. She said they would call me the following day as they would want to have this addressed ASAP. They never called me back. In fact I called them the following day and found she was dismissive and didnt engage in a conversation of how they would approach this matter. Both body shops gave a quote of over $4,000 had said the damage was very serious and confirmed that it was sustained by a hoist. They both suggested I go to ICBC as soon as possible. ICBC confirmed hoist damage and proceeded to process my claim as they would go after the dealership. I asked ICBC about the trade-in value of my car since I now own a vehicle purchased at top dollar; with depreciation and $4,000+ damages, the trade-in value of my car is seriously compromised. ICBC only said I would have my deductible returned after they go after the dealership.

Bought my VW CC in 2011. Everything was fine up until 2016. Started having issues with it. Just got it back 3 weeks ago. Had to have the timing chain fixed. That bill was $3200. Had to take it back 2xs after that to have the intake runner fixed along with the rear main seal because of oil leaking. Those two jobs cost me an additional $1000. Fast forward to today. Started having issues with the car not going into gear. Went back to the shop. Theres a problem with the driveshaft. Cost to fix... $3200-$5000. This is so unfair. Now I am either forced to fix it or purchase another car. Either way Im spending more money I truly dont have.

I bought a brand new 2019 Beetle and noticed it had a bunch of things wrong right off the bat. One of the speaker lights didnt work, the manual seat sinks after a few hours, and the A/C button doesnt work properly. I am 3.5 hours away from a Volkswagen dealership so it takes me 7 hours round trip to service it. I have to do 2 seven hour trips per service because they never fix it in one day. So far I have had to make that round trip 4 times and they still have not fixed the issues other than the speaker light. I dont have time or patience anymore to take many days off for nothing. The product is poorly put together and the service is HORRIBLE, at least at South Motors in Miami, FL.

2015 Golf TDI Wagon. So disappointed in this car. 1300 miles and six weeks old: The phone system does not sync with my i-phone. The gas gauge malfunctions. The upgraded Fender speakers are less good than my Tiguan speakers were. Cant hear the radio when the substandard AC is on. The radio goes in and out and takes about 3 minutes to even turn on. I have had leaking issues with my 2007 eos but have been told by dealer every time I had taken in that they could not detect any leaks. When it rained hard it leaks and it leaks on door panel and on part of leather seat. After I picked up car from dealer I would take to car wash. Of course it leaked then just like when it rains really hard. Called volkswagen customer service and they told me that they dont recommend taking to high pressures car wash and that they feel there is no issue. I was fed up constantly taking car to dealer not only for leaking but other issues. My car has condensation on inside of windows and the leather that cover door panels have peeled up from door. Drivers side window control needs to replaced. I will never buy or recommend a volkswagen ever. Dealership or company will not acknowledge any leaking issue.
