GM patent: Dual charge ports could allow electric trucks a lot of energy flexibility
Posted On: May 22, 2022
General Motors recently filed a patent application for a dual charge port setup that could help get the most out of Ultium battery system in the automaker's electric pickup trucks. GM has developed a double-layer battery pack that's already being used in the GMC Hummer EV, and is slated for the forthcoming Chevrolet Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV. The proposed setup could provide more flexibility in how those two layers are charged. Using a series of controllers and switches, as well as the pack's built-in ability to operate as two different packs in series or in parallel, the application describes different charging scenarios for the dual-layer vehicles. GM patent filing - dual charge ports For reference, in the GMC Hummer EV 12 battery modules are wired in series to make up one layer, which is functionally a separate battery pack. That layer is connected in parallel to another identical layer with the same number of modules. In the Hummer EV, that adds up to more than 100 kwh of battery capacity, with 800-volt charging to take advantage of speedier 350-kw DC fast-charging hardware. GM outlines that one charging port could be configured to charge at 800 volts or 400 volts, while the other port would be connected to the second layer of the pack and be limited to 400V. The system could connect them in series, charging both the upper and lower layers simultaneously at 800V using the first port only. Or it could charge both layers at 400 volts by connecting them in parallel. A third configuration would isolate the two layers, charging them one at a time, GM noted. Alternatively, the second port could be used for charging accessories at 400 volt while the vehicle continues to charge at 800 volts. That could allow GM trucks to power tools or other equipment while they charge. Ford has advertised its F-150 Lightning as a mobile power source, but it only has one charge port and thus can't do that. 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV GM also noted that, with the addition of another switch, it would be possible to upgrade the second charge port to 800 volts. An illustration submitted with the patent application shows both ports side by side—a layout that probably makes more sense for fleet vehicles being charged at company garages than personal vehicles, which would likely benefit from a port on each side. It's unclear if GM will actually put dual charge ports into production, but more trucks with dual-layer battery packs are on the way. The Chevy Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV are both expected to hit the market in 2023 as 2024 models.

I trade in my Pacifica for supposed certified GMC Acadia and that was my biggest mistake in my life. Purchased the suv with 30,000 miles and with only 62000 miles spend 4000, new transmission, 300, Throttle body. Suspension, 700. New rotor, 500. Stability track service and counting. Dont ever get a GMC truck if you dont want a headache.

The engine switched off while I am driving my 2010 Acadia on the 2nd of September 2012. Fortunately, I was driving in a service road on low speed so I handled the situation. However, I recovered the car to Ras Al Khor service center where they kept the car for over than 6 working days to resolve the issue, which is as per their diagnoses was a wiring problem led to electricity short in the car. They handed over the car to me on 10th of September under supervision of Mr. **, delivery coordinator who confirmed that the issue is resolved. However, last Tuesday, 2nd of October, I was driving my car when the engine switched off again without any sign. I would assure you that it’s only my good luck that I wasn’t driving my car on high speed and I luckily handled the situation in both incidents. I really lost the trust in my car which I directly bought from GMC and did all the services through your service centers. Mr. ** (the service manager) assured me that he will personally take care of my car problem and he will call me back, which he didn’t. And till now, nobody called me and all I got are false promises.

At 15,000 miles, the brakes and rotors had to be replaced. The service manager said that driving on gravel roads caused gravel to get in the pads. I was told if it happened again, I would have to stand the cost of repairs. 8000 miles later, the brakes had gravel in the pads and the rotors were grooved and had to be turned. I was told that I must blow the dirt off every week. The service write up person said only people driving on gravel roads were having trouble. I said the Acadia book did not say to stay off gravel roads or to blow the brakes off every week. GM has a serious defect in their design that needs to be addressed.

My 2011 Acadia is becoming very expensive to own. At 44k we had to replace both of the front struts. Next we had a bearing problem in the transmission that was covered by warranty. Now a steering issue has started with the dealer advising that the steering gear is leaking fluid into the boots. Estimated repair cost of $1100. This vehicle only has 47k miles on it. This kind of durability is totally unacceptable. I am planning on the purchase of a new truck in 2015; however, I now doubt that I purchase one from General Motors after owning several during the last 20 years.

I purchased a brand new GMC Acadia 5 years ago and I paid 36,000.00. Things started to break during the second year. For example, the main control switch to get windows down just stop working and I had only one option replace paying a high price. Everything is overprice since the parts to the labor $120 per hour. Later during the beginning my third year with the car the transmission stop working and it had to be rebuild. I wonder why a 3 years old car running 18 miles a day just go wrong with the transmission. 40000 miles after the repair the transmission went wrong for second time and the cost is about 4 grands to get it fixed. Last but not least, my radio stop working and the dealer just can as always replace the part for the high price of 600. I found a brand new radio online from another GMC owner for a lower price and when I connected it is LOCKED. Guess what $180 to unlock my radio. Why, didnt I paid for it. Why just nor releasing the code to the new owner? In this one it comes to my mind this example. Go to an electronic store (Best Buy etc.) and purchase a flat S. TV. Will you be happy if you move and your TV is locked and you have to call Sony and pay to unlock it. It just does not make sense for me. So I paid 36000 for a car that the radio is not my property. I am selling my GMC and I will never purchase any car from GMC. I recommend everyone to walk away from this company that does not respect costumer and it play unfair games to take your money away.

This is our second ownership of a GMC Acadia since it was rolled out in 200
This is our second ownership of a GMC Acadia since it was rolled out in 2007. As a family member of a former GM Employee, we purchased a 2007 GMC Acadia under the GM Employee program. That vehicle was plagued with problems. DVD player issues, fuel injectors, radiator, engine coils, trim rattles, the list goes on. The problems were so bad that the car was being taken to the dealership monthly and in some cases weekly. In 2009, we reached out to GMC at the advice of our service manager. GMC offered us 3 free oil changes for our troubles. Hardly a repayment for all the problems we had with the vehicle. To make a long story short, I contacted the BBB, filed a complaint and GM purchased the vehicle back as a Lemon. In 2009, using the refund from the buyback through the GM employee program, we purchased another GMC Acadia. This time the current 2009. We were told by the dealership that all of the issues that plagued the initial roll out had been fixed. This is certainly not the case. Again, we have had the same problems with the car being in and out of the dealership on monthly and sometimes weekly basis. Fortunately, they have all been covered under warranty until this most recent wave of problems.Several of these issues have put my family and me in great danger. Very early on in the car, when the fuel injectors broke, we were traveling home from vacation when the vehicle powered down on its own (to protect the engine) in the middle of a very busy freeway, I could not pull it over. We were stuck with semi-trucks racing past and my children crying in the back seat. All I could do was pray we didnt get smashed from behind while we wait for a tow truck. Another time is when the wave plate exploded in the transmission. I was driving my newborn baby home from the hospital! My wife, fresh out of a C-section, and my 5 day old newborn are stuck on a freeway because the transmission broke (which GM knew about because they issued a Special Warranty for its repair.)For the past month, my car has been at the dealership, due to catalytic converters that are clogged and needing to be replaced, then the timing chain needs to be replaced (which GM issues a special warranty to cover the cost) and now I am being told that the oil pump, pickup tube, and oil screen is filled with sludge and will cost me $1,600 to replace. I change my oil every 3,000 to 4,000 miles or when the oil gauge on the vehicle says 50% remaining. How on earth is there that much sludge. Turns out, after doing an internet search, that this is a common problem with the Acadia and there are pages and pages of customer complaints saying the exact same thing! All of which GM denies.GM knows the Acadia is bad. My service rep says he has never seen a vehicle with so many special warranty items issued on the car. My car needs to be purchased back as it is unsafe and unreliable and GM says they will give me $2,000. Sad considering I have given them 2 chances now. GM will not stand behind their products or do the right thing. They have forever lost a customer.

I purchased a 2007 GMC Acadia in 2006 brand new. When I had about 38,000 miles on it I would hear a clunk when I would turn left or right took it to the dealership several times. They could not hear it. I finally gave up on it. Then my transmission went out & I called the attorney general after paying about 4000 dollars to get it fixed. Two weeks after I called them I received a letter in the mail and they had a recall & I got my money back. Now the rack & pinion had to be replace. Im very upset as I when on the internet And found out that several other people have had the same problem. If anyone still has a Acadia please call this number as this is a safety issue that should be address for our safety and our childrens safety. The # is 888-327-4236. It cost me 1400 dollars for the rack & pinion to be replaced when I feel that they could have the solved the problem if they would have just check underneath the car. I now know that is why it would always clunk.

Thats no labor charge. My husband is certified mechanic. 4 recalls on it? Filling car with gas, the car wont start after doing so. Acceleration problems, air condition problems. We bought this Acadia 2 years ago, first we werent shown the Carfax. No signed copy in contract, 2nd dealership wont honor extended warranty. But anyway we have had CV joints replaced, motors in both windows, ignition locks in start position. So it constantly starting, back hatch bangs and jumps like its falling off, oh and the transmission had to be replaced to the tune of $7,000. Warranty but still put out $400 deductible. But we had to go to another GMC dealership for acknowledgment of issue. Purchase dealer told us nothing wrong, after the 5Th visit. They said, Well if you put 4 or more people in it and go on a 30 degree grade that thats how it runs. Then why would I buy a 7 passenger 3 row seating SUV? Oh and also the brackets that hold down the seating are rusted. They said that is normal wear? And now today when I pull out its driving like theres a flat tire. But no flat.

My wife and I bought our GMC Acadia new in 2011 and we have put more money into this vehicle than our Dodge truck we bought 15 years ago. First the struts were blown out the third year we owned it and also a stabilizer bar and most recently the throttle sensor went bad and so the entire throttle body needed to be replaced and also some reprogramming supposedly. Not impressed with this GMC - could be the last one we ever own. Oh and of course the later fix gmc weasled around the warranty knowing which parts are junk and how to get around covering junk parts.

Had car towed to dealership where I was informed that clutch wave plate failed and required new transmission. Because Ive had the vehicle over 5 years, it wasnt covered under warranty. Cant believe with all the complaints on this transmission that GM isnt offering a recall or help with assistance. Ive talked 2 of my friends into buying Acadia because of my experience. Thank goodness they bought after 2010 which coincidentally GM revamped the entire transmission. Coincidence? I think not!

We bought our 2012 GMC Acadia with excitement and high expectations. We were so wrong, and regretted our decision fairly quickly. Within months, we had numerous recalls, the AC stopped working, the USB port stopped working, and a piece of the rubber on the car windows fell off. Luckily, it was under warranty. After 2 years, we had a total of five recalls.Within a couple of months of the warranty expiration, the problems got worse. The AC stopped working AGAIN. Same problem, different year. Our front tires suddenly went bad ($550), confusing since the car didnt have many miles. No explanation from the dealer. Now, year three, AC went out AGAIN ($1100 front and rear), front CV joints cracked ($650) which we were told was probably why our tires went bad so fast, fuel injection issues ($240) causing car to stall every time we got gas, power steering fluid hose leaking ($200), and other issues with a total bill of $2900. Mechanic said it was one of the biggest messes hed ever seen on a car. He said the car was very cheaply put together with plastic parts. I hate this car and completely disappointed that we paid $45000 for a piece of junk.

It has a squeaky steering wheel, has had a/c blower replaced four times, leaks into master cylinder, suspension problems, coolant system problems and constant headaches over drain tubes in sunroof clogging and leaking water into drivers compartment causing carpet having to be pulled up and dried. The sunroof issue was under warranty and first dealer wasnt going to do anything until I contacted GM. Their solution was to blow out drain tubes every oil change. It clogs quickly so I am running back to dealer and got sick of it and sealed sunroof off. All other problems after the warranty, from 2 months out and on. No more. GM. Poor quality engineering.

This car is absolutely amazing. Plus everyone knows not to bring their cars to the dealership unless its under warranty because they LIE about things that are broken or it still works they just want their money. You need to hire well qualified, trained & reliable staff and/or business partners. This was unprofessional & deceiving to the consumer. My complaints will be recorded with the BBB, Consumer Affairs & Federal Trade Commission. The consumer shouldnt have to go thru this nightmare. If you cant do the job then say that you cant do it. For those of you who are researching Acadias for your future car, I would like to share that my 2014 Acadia Denali has been to the dealer 5 times for repairs/replacements parts in the past 9 months. My car currently only has 13,600 miles on it. At 4900 miles I had the Vacuum Brake Booster replaced. At 8500 miles I had the Master Cylinder Replaced. At 8900 miles I had to have the car towed because the stabilitrak went out and they replaced the Brake Pedal Position Sensor. At 10,400 miles they replaced another Vacuum Brake Booster. And finally at 13,600 miles I had the Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Solenoid Valve replaced. All of that happened in the first 14 months of the car. I now own a very expensive car that cannot go an oil change without multiple repairs being made in between. GMC has been non responsive until my state DMV contacted them. It is so disappointing to purchase a car that has no integrity and then try to work with GMC who only will respond if I escalate to a legal matter. I would think GMC would be pretty embarrassed to know their car has had so many failures but they are not even interested. Who knows what my 2nd year will look like but I would have wanted to have read this information prior to my purchase. The dealer making repairs has been nice, but again it is a such a pain to go up there 10 times for drop off and pick up. I traded in my MDX because the Acadia had bigger 3rd row and other features I wanted but in the end I will take a smaller car than drive a car that I constantly have to worry will break again.

2008 GMC Acadia SLT-2 - I purchased this vehicle a few years ago and absolutely loved it. The timing when the warranty expired and the problems began was very coincidental! Power steering went at 70K miles - had to replace the pump and rack and pinion. The low tire pressure lights keep coming on as well as the check engine light. Now, when stopped at a light, the vehicle feels as though it wants to charge forward and the RPMs run wild. A few times Ive been in the car with my children where it stopped running or wouldnt start and let out a loud noise when I tried to start it. I am a single mom and unfortunately cannot afford these repairs let alone a new car!!! Ive had other problems with the moonroof leaking into the overhead lighting as well. I never thought a car with the price tag that the Acadia comes with would have so many (expensive) issues and so little support from GMC. I currently only have 82K miles on the car, which isnt really that high!

Leased a 2014 Acadia at the end of September of 2013 from Circle GMC in Highland, IN. Since that time we have experienced repeated issues with the fuel gauge dropping to completely empty, while much more gas is in the tank. Have taken it in for service 7 times already and have spent numerous more times talking with them and calling Corporate GMC. They have tried reprogramming a couple times, checking a float in the tank, replacing a cluster, etc. They tell me nobody else has this issue, and the loaners I have had have not had this issue. Their end-solution was for me to always keep half a tank of gas in the vehicle. Theres a solution for you. Now when the tank is nearly full, it shows over full. This car has been the worst thing that has ever happened to me! Problem after problem! Transmission replaced, continued to have problems, water leaks, actually water pouring in car from dvd player and interior lights, had recall years back, said they replaced tubes, paid for this same problem a few times, then got so bad and complained, they finally sealed it all up and replaced the headliner that was completely water stained! Radio went out due to water damage and I had to pay because they said it was the fuse box! Radio and dvd worked shortly, then back and forth with nothing. I have driven car for over a year with it working/not working. When it doesnt work, no onstar either! So a lot of good the emergency phone is to me! Towed back to the shop again today! Engine light. Running horribly. Put in reverse, jumped forward, rpms shooting up, sounds like something dropped into a woodchipper from under the hood. Oh and headlight is filled with water. First and last GM I will ever own! Its a pretty looking package, but its a pandoras box. GM is bankrupting my family! Thanks GM, youre the best!

At 60,600 miles, just out of warranty, my coil failed. Now at 67000 the catalytic converter has failed. None of this should be happening in a well designed engine but we are told it is the cooling that causes this. Our mechanic said the carbon build up is extraordinary and to get rid of the car. I have 3 other friends who have 09/10 Acadias, and are all seeing similar issues (2 have coils fail). So its just a bad design. Shame, it was a pretty car and would have kept it for the long haul if it wasnt so poorly designed.

I bought my 2009 GMC Acadia new. It just turned 62,000 miles. All 6 ignition coils have been replaced (not all at once). Numbers 4 and 6 went first. Then 3 and 5 went. Since theyre at the back near the firewall I had number 1 replaced too since the intake manifold had to be removed to accomplish the repair. A little over 2 weeks ago number 2 had to be replaced. The replacement of 6 coils is unacceptable for a vehicle with mileage as low as mine. Of course we all know about the timing chain issues and transmission flex plate problems. GM should be ashamed of this 3.6 liter motor and the transmission. The comfort and passenger compartment is great. Of course when you have to have your vehicle towed over 100 miles to get back home from vacation that comfort doesnt help. Thats what happened to my family Saturday. This junk is in the shop now with my mechanic. He is very honest and doesnt try to sell you service you dont need. You can look over his shoulder if you want to. He left dealership service due to their dishonest practices. Im getting no ignition to 2, 4, and 6. This isnt a coil issue. It probably is a wiring harness issue or fuse box issue. He explained the flimsy fuse boxes. The fuse boxes are made of layers of flimsy metal sheets so the sockets for the fuses wear out. I also may have damaged my cat by driving with the constant misfires resulting in dumping unignited fuel into the cat. I also have a broken front motor mount, another piece of junk as he states. All of this with around 62,000 miles. Buyer beware. My wife wanted this car bad and I bought without doing research. Never again. I may go for a Honda Pilot next time, after I do lots of research. BTW, I guess most of you know that the Acadia and the Chevy Traverse are the same. I forget the Buick equal.

2007 GMC Acadia radio and sound issues - About a year and a half ago, we started experiencing problems with having no sounds for the radio, blinkers, seat belt, back up warning sound that a child or something is behind the vehicle etc. This is definitely a safety issue if the warning beep is not working when backing up. This happened off and on at first and then everything sound wise has stopped working now for the last 16 months. Except for about 30 minutes this summer when all of the sudden we had sound again. We have no idea what happened but the sound quit again and we have not had any sound since. GMC has said they dont know what the cause is and we should take the vehicle to the dealer to troubleshoot the issue. This will entail a repair bill of hundreds of dollars from what the dealer has estimated. I have read and heard this is a common problem with the Acadia. Looks like GM would step up and recall and fix all these issues everyone is having with the Acadia. Very disappointed with GM and their failure to resolve these issues.

I have owned more than 10 vehicles in my lifetime and the last seven have been new from dealer. This Acadia is the worst vehicle I have owned, new or old. Just over 30,000 it was burning oil excessively and the dealership could not figure it out. Numerous times at shop and still no fix. By the time we got to 70,000 GM had to re-ring the engine and replace the major of other sensors and components. I have probably spent over $3,000 in additional costs that were not covered by the GM Warranty or the GM extended warranty we purchased when buying the Acadia. Its Amazing how convenient it was that every problem we had was not covered by the extended warranty. Regardless the engine is a problem GM cannot figure it out. Google GM Acadia engine problems and you will have hours of reading in front of you. All with a common theme, the engine is a complete piece of garbage that you will be lucky to get 100,000 out of... Most of them seize around 50,000 to 70,000 and GM will NOT cover the repair under warranty. They simply will not take ownership to this problem so do yourself a favor and avoid this headache completely. This is my 4th GMC and without a doubt my last. I will never buy another GM Product for rest of my life which hurts me to write because I have 3 kids I have been preaching Buy American to all their lives. Now that my wife and I are buying the kids the first cars, it will greatly reduce the dealerships we have to look at. I have to clarify that the reason I will never buy a GM product again has very little to do with the Acadia I own. It has to do with the entire fleet and the fact that GM knows its an inherent problem with this Engine but wont take ownership. My engine that has been burning engine since 30,000 needs new heads and valves due to wear from lack of oil, a problem I pointed out in the first 2 years. GM does not think its their problem and they offered me $3000 towards a new car. My car is 4 years old and they want me to trash it. If that is GM customer loyalty, then I need to find a new manufacturer of automobiles. Save yourself the countless trips to the service dept because this vehicle is a problem child that burns oil and your hard earned dollars.

I own a 2008 Acadia that note had 85,000 miles on it. My transmission went due to a bracket that broke, of course my warranty has expired, but prior to its expiration I had it in the garage twice, not even a GMC certified transmission expert could find a problem. Of course you are not going to find a problem, unless you open the casing and see that there is a cracked bracket causing mischief that is eventually going to cause a total loss. Im a little fortunate because the dealer I bought it from help pay for half, but thanks GM. Nothing like spending money you dont have before Christmas.

Had a two door Honda and needed and wanted something bigger for car seats. Love how roomy the GMC Acadia is. Didnt want a minivan so this was a nice compromise. Bought used but it has been a great car for our growing family. Easy to purchase at the dealership. I wish it had bucket seats and changing the battery could be a little easier. Why is it in my floorboard in the backseat where my daughter sits?!

I purchased a 2009 GMC Acadia in July of 2011. Since then, I have had major issues with the car. I took it in to get serviced at GMC Baytown where I purchased the vehicle because it was running rough. When I got up to 70, the car would surge and vibrate to the point that I thought it was going to completely die on me. They fixed the car after 3 weeks of having a rental and poor communication from them. I got the car back and it was not fixed; it did the same thing before I even got it home. I live in Hamshire, Texas, so I was driving over 30 minutes to the dealership for service. I again took the car back and they changed more parts and again, it was not fixed. After trip 4, they finally realized it was the engine coils. After so many problems, I asked the dealership to buy back the vehicle for my current balance and they were very rude and talked horrible to me. The owner even said I was lying about his salesman Scott not calling me back after 10-15 phone calls about a new vehicle. It was so bad my husband went to get the vehicle and made them apologize to me. The salesman Scott did apologize and stated, Im sorry for not calling you. I have no excuses why I didnt call. I know you are aggravated about your air conditioner being out and that is understandable. He didnt even know why my car was even there. Then the next day, my power steering went out and they refused to look at it and told me to take it to another dealership because nothing they worked on could have affected it. I took my vehicle to another mechanic and we found that a piece they had worked on was broken and replaced it with a drinking straw! My car is still broken.

I bought a 2008 GMC Acadia in March of 2011. It was my biggest car purchase and I was very excited to buy it. It was everything I wanted and more, with lots of space for my family of 7 and many great accommodations. Last year, in Aug. 2012, I began having issues with it, water leaking, engine lights coming on and random cut offs. I took it to the dealer and they wanted me to replace the trans, which is very costly. I did not. My husband and I had the trans flushed and everything seemed to be okay again for a few months. When spring came around and rain came down, more problems began. Every time it rained, my battery was drained. Eventually, the car just stopped working. We took it to the dealer numerous times, but no one listened when I explained my thoughts that the leaking had something to do with the problem. We replaced two batteries in a week. The dealer claimed they couldnt find anything wrong with the car, but when I went to leave, the car went into battery saver mode so I took it right back. The service advisor was clearly annoyed and ignored me for the first 15 minutes I was there. I again explained my concerned that the rain and water that had leaked into my vehicle had something to do with the electrical issues I was having. He told me the two things had nothing to do with each other. A few days later, he calls and tells me that there was a leak in the front caused by the sun roof and that was causing the issues. We paid to repair that and he said that we were good to go. About a week later, the problem happened again. The dealership had our car for more than ten days (mind you, I am 7 months pregnant right now with a high risk pregnancy). This time, we worked with a person a friend recommended, and they repaired the rear moon roof at no charge for all of the inconvenience. I was very thankful for this. Unfortunately, three days and two nights rain later, my car will not start again. How is this still happening and why is this not being recalled? I cannot afford to put myself and my family at risk every time I get into my car.

We purchased a used 2008 GMC Acadia from Carl Black in Roswell, GA. At 60,000 miles, transmission had to be rebuilt. At 97,000 miles Solenoid valve and transmission control module assembly replaced. Carl Black tried to rip me off. Originally quoted $1800 to repair. After I told them I was taking car to my trusted mechanic, repair went to $400. I was still ripped off as I signed pages of warranty receipts when I picked up car. Now less than a year later, Stabilitrak light is on. Car only has 108,000 miles. This is the third major repair in three years. I am through with GMC and Carl Black forever. Almost forgot, sunroof leaks.

I have thought many times of trading this vehicle in because of all of the problems its had, but love the look of it! I should have traded because it might look good but it has been trouble literally since the very first day I brought it home and had to put it in the shop! My family is Chevy/GM all the way.... But that is fixing to change! The first night I brought it home, it had approx. 55,000 miles on it. When I came out the next morning, a huge puddle of anti-freeze was running out underneath it and the check engine light came on. It has had a couple of recalls, which I appreciated! After that, the suspension broke when they put the vehicle on the ramp for service. My StabiliTrak has had issues several different times! Around 90,000 miles, my transmission messed up, a local service repairman whom I trust stated that the teeth had ground off of the disc in the transmission and even showed it to me..... This was a very rare thing in vehicles abroad. He replaced that part, stating the transmission looked okay, and he had to get permission from GM to change out the whole transmission and GM didnt like to do that. It was under warranty through 104,000 miles. Now at 108,500 miles my transmission is messing up again. 5 months ago, I turned right into a parking lot from a very busy street with cars behind me. When I did, the car wouldnt turn and cut off! I put it in park and re-cranked it and it was okay. I still took it to the dealership since it was still under warranty, and they fixed something with the steering column and said it was low on steering fluid. Call it luck or whatever you wish, but I shouldnt even be alive to tell this story! There is an obvious need for recalls on the steering and transmission! GMC..... PLEASE GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER AND TAKE CARE OF THE PEOPLE WHO TAKE CARE OF YOU! WITHOUT US AND OUR PASSION FOR YOUR BRAND, YOU WILL NO LONGER BE A BRAND! That isnt a threat, its common sense.

I purchased a 2008 Acadia on February 28, 2013. We love the body style and room in it. However it has been nothing but a thorn in our side. It had 58k miles on it when we got it. Just 10k miles and 4 months later we had to put a transmission in. Weve also replaced the alternator, power steering pump, water pump and now we just had another transmission replaced in December (Merry Christmas to me). Not to mention the latest problem needed... a new rack and pinion. I’m not driving mountains or pulling anything with my Acadia. I dont even have a hitch. So its not like Im putting major wear and tear on the car. Ive talked to GM several times and sent numerous letters. Their response was basically Im responsible for buying the piece of junk they rolled off the line. When does GM become responsible for what they are producing? This is their product and they should stand behind it. I will never buy another GM product. My 2005 Ford Escape with 213k miles has been the car that got me through while my Acadia was being repaired.

Only good for the first 15,000 miles. Factory tires are a joke and made with softer rubber. GM is aware and it was the discretion of the dealership to share the info. At 18,000 miles I had 4 bald tires. They cover a portion of it under warranty. The tire guy has to call Michelin with the mileage and size of tread - if any. We did get 70% off new ones. Two days later I started experiencing the SHIFT TO PARK error. Its in park and I try to shut it off but it doesnt register being in park. This prevents the car from locking and causes nonstop dinging that will ultimately drain your battery. You have to turn it on/off again multiple times, jiggle the stick, hit the brake until it magically decides its good. It now happens EVERY time I shut it down. There is no fix. Again GM is aware and left it to the discretion of the dealership to share the info. Now Im stuck in a lease for a PITA car that I cant properly use. Save yourself the headache - buy something else!

I unfortunately own 2 GMC Acadias a 2009 and a 2011. I bought them in the same year due to our old vehicles breaking down. I wish I had the old rusty vehicles back. I work on these 2 vehicles constantly. On the 2009 Acadia I have replaced the transmission, water pump, throttle body, radio amplifier, hood support, steering rack inner and outer tie rods, sway bars, strut assemblies, spark plugs, gas cap, and the list goes on. It is sitting in the driveway now since it has a jerking power issue when we dropped the kids off at school this morning. The 2011 has not been as bad yet but has also had a new water pump, and I cannot get the steering wheel to stop vibrating when driving on the expressway even after getting the wheels balanced rotated and anything else I could think of.

I am the owner of a 2008 GMC Acadia. This vehicle has approximately 78,900 miles on it. Due to transmission issues, which is still covered under my powertrain warranty, it has been at Cooper Buick GMC in Monroe, LA since last Tuesday, 5/29/12. I was informed that GMC will only furnish me a rental for five days. The rental was picked up on Thursday, 5/31. Today, I was informed that I must return the rental. I am employed and must have transportation. I feel that as long as the dealership is holding my vehicle for warranty work, GM should furnish me with a rental. I am highly upset about this. My husband and I were seriously considering purchasing another Acadia but unless this issue is resolved, we will never purchase another GM product and will make sure other customers, friends and relatives are made aware of this situation. We are not wealthy and a rental vehicle is not in our budget. This is creating a difficult situation for us. Please respond to this complaint as soon as possible.

I bought a GMC Acadia in 2009 brand new. It was nice as all new cars. I meticulously maintained it and even ensured to buy the extended warranty when purchased. If you are keeping count thats almost a total of $48k. So my transmission decides to fail at 72348 and I contact the dealer to be told that myvehicle is not covered by the manufacturer warranty or extended warranty as of 4 months ago. REALLLY! Then every possible shop I have spoken to has suggested that the transmission should not have failed at that mileage. Seems like I was doomed from the day I purchased this vehicle. I contacted GM corporate office to see if they would assist at least with parts and I pay labor. NADA. No help. Save your money; do not BUY ANY GM BRAND. Now I guess I understand why Toyota, Honda, and Nissan are normally better buys. If you have an original warranty stating drive train etc. for 100000 miles, you should honor it. I AM AT 28000 MILES SHY OF THAT. WHY SHOULD I PAY $3000 FOR A TRANSMISSION? ANSWER ME THAT GM AKA PROFESSIONAL GRADE!

I bought a used 201 Acadia last February 2016. I had it a month and I started noticing the Service StabiliTrak light coming on. Not only did it come on it reduced my engine power. I took it back from where I bought it and the service department claimed it was some sensor. All was good. About three months after that I had to replace the engine mounts. Now it is almost a year later and the StabiliTrak system is out of control. This time I take it to auto shop and the service tech said it was the battery (which was dying anyway). So I replaced the battery and I had to get the heat fixed too because of some actuator thingy. So I am happy to get my car back the next day. I had to drive an hour from home to work on that Monday and as soon as I made it to parking garage it started again with Service StabiliTrak. SO when I get off 9 hours later I am thinking I can just disengage the system but I could not figure it out. I drove home with hazard lights and prayed it would make it to certified GMC dealership for service. Two days later they say it was the throttle body so I hope when I pick up my vehicle today the issue is resolved.

But why would I take my car to a GM dealer to tell me my car’s problem isnt a recall related problem? I refuse to give you any of my money! I am very disappointed! The woman from GM said theres not any recalls on this vehicle but my seat belt chime wont stop dinging, my car wont drive at all, my RPM gauge is revving past 4, the power steering is very tight and locks up turning corners and parking. Thank god I wasnt driving on the highway when this started, it wouldve been a very bad accident. I cant believe this. My parents bought a used 08 Acadia SLT in the spring of 2010 and worked pretty well up until now. But ever since we got it, nobody can figure out why the tire pressure sensors give the wrong indicators for the wrong tires. For example, if the front passenger was low, it would indicated the rear driver is low. Over the summer, we were driving home from Michigan to New York and about 30 minutes into the trip, the radio just cut out. Now, it sometimes works and sometimes doesnt but it only seems to come on in very low temperatures. It worked for about 15 minutes this morning and then cut out. From what Ive found, its something with the amplifier. Ours has the Bose sound system and my mom does blast her music sometimes. I dont know if the amp is fried or if its a fuse in the amp or something and speaking of fuses, Id love to meet the moron who decided where one of the fuse boxes went. They placed it under the glove box where its hard to reach. Why couldnt they just put them in with the other fuses under the damn hood?!I wouldnt spend money on one of these pieces of garbage. You would be better off buying something else. Also, the traction on these things sucks. You just barely touch the gas and it spins your tires. Driving the FWD models is like driving a giant sled. I have a 2005 Mini Cooper and its like a tank in the snow and I have all season tires on that thing.

First foremost I bought this car with 3 miles on it from Stadium GM Salem, Ohio in Aug of 2016- this is 2017 Acadia. Fast forward it’s March 1 of 2018. It all started driving 65mph on freeway and the dashboard says my cameras from back not working. I contact my dealer. He quickly responded saying he was unable to get me in till Monday. Ok thanks. Hang up then starts flashing airbags are in need of service. Dashboard lights are going on and off- flashing. Then I get to a red light few min later, stop and the car starts moving forward with my foot on brake. Almost causing me to hit the person in front of me. Mind you this car has a safety feature that automatically stops when I’m following someone too close -and now it moves forward on its own. Um what. Then I’m getting into turning lane to turn left into my work and it won’t stop so turn into work with foot on brake and coast and coast till it came to rolling stop.I put the car into park. I remove the keys, go to get out of the car and my door will not open. The car is still running -heat, radio, etc. My car alarm starts going off as I keep trying to open door from the inside of the car. I’m now currently locked into 2017 Acadia so instead of breaking the window I called the local cops. They arrived and was able to let me out. Ummm what if it was a 90 degree day and I have 4 kids in the car and your electric system stopped working like this so nothing like my automatic window/locks work? I would have definitely busted my driver window to get out of the car so we wouldn’t of died. In the meantime my car alarm was going off for 4 hours by itself and lights flashing etc till my lunch break. I go outside and try to attempt to start it and it’s still running! No keys. Heat/radio kinda like remote start mode has been in for 4 hours. Needless to say it will not physically start or come on. So as a mom of 4 working 2 jobs I am in need of help. Roadside service comes, picks the 2017 Acadia up - puts it on a flat bed. And takes me to my dealer. Brian their so called service manager says, “I told you I could see this car for another 4 days,” umm what??? Where would you like the tow truck driver to put the car? He tells them in the garage - goes on to tell me he doesn’t have rental. Umm what... Then he says, “Your car has 44 thousand miles on it even though it 1 year old. You will have to sit in service room till we figure out the 33 codes that came back on it. We are open till 6pm. It’s only 2:30pm.” After reading the first 9 he comes and said I’m lucky he found a rental. Awww how nice he found me a car to use out of the 200 plus on the dealership grounds. Maybe this one will not accelerate forward when my door is on the brake. Maybe this one will actually stop when my foot is on the brake. Maybe this one will not lock me inside of my own vehicle. I called the dealership for an update about a week ago. He said still wasn’t fixed, needed another part. I went to the dealership on March 20 2018 looking for help and trying to get explanations and was told nothing. Continue drinking the rental car. Mine is not safe or fixed...Fast forward to today March 22 the dealership has now almost had my car for the entire month. It is fixed- I arrived at dealership, handed my rental keys in then the service guys tells me I owe him over 6**.00. When talking to 3 different General Motors representatives in the past 22 days I was told my car has extended warranty. Don’t worry. The repairs will be taken care of.” Now yesterday the service guy Brian nowhere to be found left Another guy to tell me, “No, no. That’s not right. Your 2017 Acadia only has 3 year 36,000 miles. Even though it’s a year old it’s not covered.” So guess who doesn’t have 6**.00 to fix electrical/ 2 side modules replacement at 5:30 pm? This mom of 4 that already works 2 jobs. Mind you I just paid 879.00 car payment on the 3/18/2018 for this Acadia that I have driven in over a month.I call General Motors rep. They said under warranty - my dealer screaming at me saying it’s not and I’m not getting the keys to my car till the invoice is paid so I sat there in the service waiting area for someone to come pick me and my 2 small children up. They all left at 7:30-8:00 when dealer closes and left me sitting there until 8:40 pm. They don’t care this SUV almost killed me. They have no customer service. They actually just laughed at the fact this car is a year old and having this problem. Then to top it off he told me before he left at 7 that he’s not even sure this will fix the problem. My Acadia has failed me. My Acadia does have 44,000 miles on it at this time but I don’t care it’s a year old. I don’t care if it has 90,000 miles on it. It shouldn’t be having these problems it’s a year old.Sincerely one mom with 4 kids and 2 jobs with no vehicle because your GMC has failed me and the dealership you do business with could care less. How reassuring it is to leave someone in a dealership while they all get in their cars and go home and I sit with 2 of my children waiting on a ride. Then he says I’m not even sure this will fix it. General Motors you can keep the car.

I own 2009 GMC Acadia SLT-1. This is the nicest vehicle I have ever owned so I have strived to take really good care of it. For the last few months, I have been experiencing an issue that seemingly cannot be resolved! When I am driving on the highway and I achieve the speed want to go and let off the gas and the vehicle would coast, it starts what I refer to as missing. It has not given off any codes and I have had it checked out by two mechanics. The problem is getting worse! Without a code and the lack of anything obvious, it cannot be resolved. The last time I took it in, the transmission fluid was low, which makes me wonder with all of the posts on transmissions going bad in Acadias, if it could be my transmission. I do not know what to do and am writing this in hopes someone has had similar issues and can share your experience and maybe your end result! HELP!!!

2007/2008 GMC Acadia needs to have its transmission recalled. Like everyone else out there with the early year Acadia and GM clone cars I now have a completely useless transmission. If you havent had issues with yours you soon will. GM customer care is there to listen and then to respond with there is nothing that they are willing to do. The reason for the wave plates breaking is GMs failure to harden the wave plates used within the transmission. An issue they corrected for the 2009 model. After calling around to numerous shops I have been quoted anything from $4200 to $5700 at the dealer. One shop owner told me its his favorite transmission, because its the one that pays his bills. Like I started I cannot believe this has not been recalled, if anyone knows about a class action lawsuit against GM for this issue or would like to pursue one I would be all ears.

I purchased a 2012 Acadia with 60,059 miles on it. I thought I finally found a DEAL. GMC/BUICK dealer sold it to me for 20,035. I couldnt believe it. Roughly 3-5K lower than any other dealers in this town for this car. I jumped on it... Loved the car. 3 kids... Hockey equipment... I was finally in a comfortable car that I can cruise around to every hockey rink in Minnesota.Day #3: Squeaking while breaking. Dealer gave me 4 rotors, 4 new pad. (They covered it). Day #6: Squeaking returns. Some sensor around the wheel was making it squeak. (They covered it). Day #37: Wiper control module goes out. Perfect. Its raining out. And I cant use my wipers. $189. Day #49: Alternator goes out. $775. Day #53: Struts leaking. Shopped online to get some at discount price. $180.00.So its been in the shop 5 times in 54 days. Thats an average of once every 10 days. Are you kidding me? I finally broke down and bought an american car. (Had Honda, Toyota, Nissan before). Im embarrassed to think that when the BOOM in 07-09 hit. And our auto manufacturers were going under. We bailed them out so they could make products like this. Its unreal. I love the look of the car. I love the interior. But Im not going to spend 1K every 50 days on this vehicle to have something else break. Ive contacted GMC and they have apologized that Im having this kind of luck with this car. They claim that I might have the one that always slides through. Hahaha. Are you kidding me. Hey sir. Thanks for spending 20K on your car. But you will spend about 10K in repairs because we have made a poor product.Should I sell it? Man. Id feel bad for the person that bought it from me, and has this problem. Why do you think Toyota, Honda, Hyundai all can be confident with the 10 years 100,000 mile warranty. Because they make rock solid products! GMC...I feel like you dropped the ball with this one.

My 2008 GMC Acadia truck is 4 years old and has 56k miles on it. Its very well taken care of. It started making noises while driving so I had it inspected at GMC dealer in Orange, Virginia. A very nice repairman said the steering rack is cracked, but because I dont have a newer model, Acadia, this isnt covered under the 100,000-mile warranty GMC offers. After doing research about this topic, I find dozens of websites with many, many people all having the exact same problem with the exact same model and year Acadia. While I was told that this is a very serious issue, no recall has ever been issued by GMC. However, I was told that GMC is aware of the problem and has re-designed their newer model steering racks. I spoke with GMC headquarters asking for this to be a covered expense so I dont have my two children in danger. The guy on the phone was quite rude and said he has the final authority and he did not approve my request. When I asked if there was someone else I could speak with, I was told that any further communication on this subject would have to be taken outside of GMC and that they would no longer speak on my claims. I was so angry I was speechless. I dont understand how they can claim they know this is serious and know there is a problem but never recall the vehicle! And why is this now a covered warranty repair but it isnt for my vehicle?

I purchased a 2011 GMC Acadia with 25,000 miles. I never missed an oil change and updated within 3 years of purchase. The gas pedal became very stiff, causing the car to quickly accelerate. Need to be replaced. The fuel sensor broke and needed to be replaced. The driver side air modulators broke causing hot air to blow. Needed to be replaced. The driver side window control panel broke and needed to be replaced. The hood support rod broke. The radiator broke and needed to be replaced. The radio broke and need to be replaced. The air conditioning blows hot and needs to be replaced. The engine mounts all broke and needed to be replaced. The engine is now dying and was recommended by my mechanic to get rid of the car. He says I need a new engine. I still have a $7000 balance left on the car and it is worthless.

With so many choices out here in SUVs I shopped for a long time and decided on the 2014 GMC Acadia SLE 2 for many reasons. I began noticing them in 2008 and everyone I spoke with about them seemed very pleased both with their performance and the comfortable ride. It has WI FI and all the whistles and bells but to be honest I dont care a thing about any of that. I care about reliability and efficiency. For a big heavy SUV it gets 27 MPG Highway if youre not a lead foot, and it is truly my dream car. It also has the towing package and can pull a 2 horse trailer loaded, or big boat etc.I purchased it in Dec. 2015 from Eagle Buick GMC in Homosassa, Florida. In the past Ive owned Jeep Cherokees, Nissans and Toyotas. But I just didnt get the comfortable ride or performance this Acadia offers. I also have to be honest. I was disappointed in the 2017 model. GMC has reduced it to be honest to a smaller version and not the ride the 2016s back to 2008 have. The new one looks more like an old souped up GMC Jimmy than an Acadia.

I am on the brink of tears....again. My lemon Acadia is at the dealership with a nice list of new issues. GM literally made an awful product - unsafe and unreliable, and makes the customers pay for their mistakes. For years it rained INSIDE my car. I finally got them to replace my moldy floorboards and fix the leak (after putting social media pressure on them - they wanted me to pay at first). Im constantly having issues with my steering and engine. There is never NOT something wrong with my car and I am fed up. Its not right. I would LOVE to get together with other Acadia owners and see if we can file some sort of lawsuit. Email me if interested!

My 2013 Acadia has had both Cadillac converters changed. Also Im currently having problems with radio not working, flashers not sounding, seat belts not making a sound when theyre not connected, signals not making a sound when theyre flicking, the radio wont play CDs, wont do anything. It shows up stations but you cant hear anything on. It will pop off and on every now and then so I just dont know whats wrong with this car. It is scary because the cost is astronomical to repair if this is electrical problems. Also the car had problems with it. Was water running from somewhere onto my feet after a rain, which I know there were other people who complained of this as well. Theres no recall for it but other comments states that it has cause some damage to the electrical wiring. I read this in other reviews, I can not afford this cost, Acadia 2013 owners. But of course with all this going on theres no recalls on any of the issues that I have with this vehicle. How frustrating!!!

I heard about issues on the earlier models but I could not be happier with mine. My previous truck was a 07 Yukon Denali. That was a great truck. I traded on a new Acadia since it was 50k instead of mid-60s. Both are good trucks. Love the power of the V8. Like the mpg on the V6.

My Acadias transmission went out on a trip to KC. About 4 hrs away from home. When it was put in Reverse it went in Drive & vice versa. Finally it went forward when put in Drive but RPMs stayed at 5,000, it wouldnt shift gears to go over 50 mph. I was on interstate. Top speed is 75 but people in KC drive A LOT faster. Im surprised my daughter & I got back to the hotel safe & sound. My insurance covered the tow to the closest shop. They would only pay $100 or less for the tow. I will have to drive the 4 hrs back to get it when its fixed. 8 hr round trip. Ill have to miss a full days wages or use my only day off for the trip. I couldnt be more upset. It was a Saturday when it broke down so naturally about every tranny shop was closed. I got a hold of 1 hardworking mechanic that was still at his shop to see if hed work on it. When I told him it was a 2008 GMC Acadia he said theyre known for bad transmission. I wish Id known that sooner. This is my only vehicle. I wasnt going to call someone to come that far to pick us up. My only option was to rent a car to get home. I have no idea how I will make it back to get the Acadia after its fixed & who knows how long itll be before its fixed. I cant afford a rental the entire time so Ill be without a car. How will I get to work to be able to pay for this? This just happened yesterday so I havent heard back from the mechanic yet. I will write another review about the exact problem & solution later. Im definitely giving GMC customer service a call tomorrow & will never purchase from GM again. Lots of people are having the same problem, I am with their Acadias. Ford here I come!!Updated on 09/23/2015: I was not able to find out what went wrong with my transmission. It was sent to my warranty company for them to determine the issue. They chose a rebuilt tranny to replace the first. The torch converter was bad. They sent the second rebuilt tranny. I was told the Acadia was fixed. I went to KC to pick it up 4 hrs away from home. It made it about 75 miles when the RPMs flew up to 5,500 & the engine lost power. I had to drive the other 3 hrs home with it in low & manually shift gears. Its been at another shop for a week now & I havent heard back from them. The company that supplied the rebuilt tranny will pay to have it fixed. The main issue is Im paying $350 a month for a car I havent been able to drive for over a month & the car I want to trade this pile of bolts for will be sold before I can get this thing fixed! I do not blame the mechanics or the rebuilt tranny company for all the trouble. I blame GM for a very poorly designed transmission!

I purchased a 2015 GMC Acadia in September 2014. The steering wheel shakes terribly. Ive brought it to the dealer several times. At first they said the tires had flat spots and would correct itself. Then they did a special wheel alignment on it. 40,000 miles later and having brought it to other shops (shops specializing in tires) I am still having the issue. In March 2015 (6 months after purchase) I had to have the brakes, rotors, brake pads, calipers, --everything replaced at a GM dealership in Florida as the rear brakes etc were completely rusted out. They had to use a sledgehammer to get things off. In September 2015, I had to have the same rear brake parts replaced as they had rusted out again!I used to drive 100,000 miles a year and never had this happen. Now I drive 20,000 and the brakes are rusting out. Ive lived in the same area for 60 years, so its not that Ive moved. I love the Acadia - but with the shaking steering wheel and the brakes rusting out, I wouldnt recommend buying it. Also the XM radio goofs up (not a big deal but it does happen) and they installed their WIFI in the Acadia and it shows theres a signal, but you cant use the WIFI.

I bought my Acadia used from Bob Allen Dealership in Danville, KY in July 2
I bought my Acadia used from Bob Allen Dealership in Danville, KY in July 2010. At 62,100 miles, rain water started leaking into the cabin of the vehicle on the passenger side and rear seating areas. I could hear the water moving around inside the roof compartments while driving. The carpet becomes wet repeatedly. At one point it started to have mildew on the passenger side carpet. I have had it cleaned on several occasions. The battery compartment in the rear passenger side floor board filled with water. I took it to a mechanic, had the water drained and battery replaced. The water damage has caused electrical issues. My radio, cd player, and navigation system no longer works. I had to remove the fuse from the speakers to stop a loud irritating sound. The power steering pump was replaced around 80,000 miles. A mechanic stated that I need new struts. There is a metal to metal grinding noise when I place the transmission into drive mode. When I refill my gas tank, my Acadia will not start on the 1st or 2nd attempt. I have to push hard on the gas while turning on the ignition switch in order to start my engine. Afterwards, it starts without issues until the next trip to the gas station.I took my Acadia in to repair the roof leak twice. The drain ports were cleared. Although the second repair attempt decreased the amount of water leaking into the vehicle, my windows still become drenched from the inside. During the winter months, the water on the inside of my windows freeze. I have contacted GMC about the water leak issue. I was told by GMC that I should contact their GMC overseas department because I was stationed in Germany. I was later told that my VIN was not covered. I am basically stuck with a car that has caused me to pay way more than I ever expected in repair work. GMC has failed miserably with the Acadia model vehicle. I will never own a GMC vehicle again.

I bought this 2010 Acadia 3 months ago. Oh sure, it looks great, but I discovered the a/c doesnt work, the window locks dont work, the windshield washers dont work. When I remove the gas cap to refuel, it wont start unless I floor it. It cranks slow like that battery or starter is bad. Now it pops into neutral while driving and the electric door locks cycle up and down rapidly. What a huge pile of crap this vehicle is. I was a certified GM mechanic for 20 years, but after seeing what kind of junk they are building now, Im ashamed to admit that to anyone. Dont ever buy one of these vehicles. We purchased a 2008 Acadia almost 2 years ago and just recently had a problem with electrical issues. No longer under warranty, we took it to our mechanic and found the electrical box behind the glove compartment was full of water. He dried it out and wrapped it up. It ran fine for a week, then the battery mysteriously had a parasitic drain and would not start. Took it back to him and today he found the tubing that houses the electrical in the drivers door full of water. After reading reviews, Im sure a dealer will do nothing but take my money and not fix the problem. This is a design flaw and apparently GM is not stepping up to the plate to fix it. Funny that after almost 2 years the problem starts. We have loved our Acadia up until this point. We have a 2,000 mile trip planned, now what? Im certainly not very happy and not sure what recourse there is. Can a class action suit be filed or has one already been filed?

I have a 12 GMC Acadia Denali where the cheap antenna base cracked and came loose in a dealership car wash even though they removed the antenna first. I do not believe its the dealers fault but a factory defect or poor design. The service manager said he sees several a week come through with this issue. I tried to work with a GMC Factory rep; no help at all and blames the Stubby antenna that had always been removed before washing. We have 95k miles on it and the transmission just went out. I am only 4 months past our 5 year warranty (mind you the dealership in which we purchased the Acadia has a LIFETIME power train warranty...but GMC wont honor that because the dealership went out of business). I filed a case with GMC. They contacted the dealership that has our car and have only offered us a discount on refurbishing our transmission... What?! I dont want to refurbish this bad one, I need a new transmission. I did not accept their terms and our car is still sitting at the dealership (its been a week already) and we pray they change their mind and offer us a better deal tomorrow. :(

I never paid attention to my expense on fixing the GMC Acadia 2009 since I bought it brand new. This car has been a pain in my rear end. Since I bought the car, I have changed the timing belt, put a new transmission, and two years ago, the engine stopped. The vehicle was towed to a GM dealership for repair. The mechanic told my wife that the engine is full of sludge and needed to be replaced. He also told my wife that the reason the vehicle was in a bad shape was because we never took care of the vehicle. My wife called me and explained what the GM service agent told her. I called the guy and had him pull the service record on the vehicle which was under my name. It was then that the service guy realized that since we bought the vehicle, they had been servicing the vehicle for us. I reminded him that whatever was wrong with the car was caused by them since they have been the maintenance personnel from jump street. He then fixed the vehicle and that cost us about 2000 dollars instead of 5000 dollars and change that they quoted my wife. Now the vehicle had check engine check light come on. We took the vehicle to the mechanic to figure out why the light came on. After their diagnoses, he told us that they had to change the Ignition coil, spark plugs, Intake gasket kit e.t.c. This whole thing cost me $1,999.51. Before I picked up the vehicle, the low oil pressure light came on. They checked the oil and it was full. They drained it, flushed the lines and storage place for the oil two times and after driving the vehicle for a quarter of a mile, the low oil pressure light came back on. They finally told me that it was a sludge problem. I called GMC and reported the problem for them to tell me to take it to the same GM group that told me two years ago to change the engine for a new engine. The kicker is that now that Ive paid off the note on the car, with a new engine it would have another 100,000 mile warranty. And it would cost me $7500.00 dollars to do that. GM knows what they are doing and they take our money and take us for a fool. I wish someone could advise on how to take this people to court and make them pay for their wickedness. We cannot continue to pay for junk.

I believe that GM Company is a leading company especially in customer service perspective and this led all authors of customer service books to take GM as their main example. After studying and preparing most of my academic assignment on this giant company, I became a loyal customer to this respective brand and this point was really the most important factor which led me to choose the Acadia car. I experienced this since February 2010 and my loyalty was enhanced more than before; however after less than three years and less than 50,000 mileage, I was disappointed as I faced problems with the noise in my steering wheel where it became a redundant issue; however, this was solved. But in November 2011, I faced another sound inside the car when I press the brake. Though it has been solved, it happened again after less than one year and currently, I face the same issue! The agent here in Bahrain advised me that they have to change the master cylinders and the boosters. In addition to this issue, the rear door pumps had no pressure to hold the rear door. I spoke with the agent and argued with them about this. They agreed to change the master cylinders with the booster at their cost if I bear the labor charge cost which exceeds BHD 80/- (USD212)! Today, I found out that these two issues are common with all Acadia models. My close friend (his car reg. # **) is also facing the same issues. I am filing this complaint to take this issue up with the agent to waive all the charges, as its unbelievable that such nice car produced by a leading company has these issues and the customer is bearing the cost of repairing them! Im looking for a service to keep me satisfied.

I owned a 2011 GMC Acadia for almost 5 years now with a 23500 miles on it, hardly used it due to my line of work which is always away from home. Multiple recall been corrected in which I think its ridiculous at first place, but I said, no worries, its being corrected in a way, thats good! Last week I went to San Diego to visit a friend with my family, driving there with no issue. When we head back home en-route to 101 freeway, it was drizzling a little bit that time, suddenly it chimed 3 or 4 times and wondering whats wrong, my instrument panel indicated stability track light on, reduce engine power and applied brakes, felt like I was drifting a little bit from a different lane, and loss engine power, kind a bit worry, but managed to pulled into the shoulder lane. As per the troubleshooting, turn off engine and wait for 15 seconds and start engine, nice! Stability light off with no issue except engine light on now. Managed to drive again for an hour just to head back home. Brought my Acadia to GMC service department to see whats wrong with the engine. It put out a fault code of P0700 and P182E pertaining to manual shift lever inside transmission shortening out. For 23500 miles I wouldnt expect that, and my warranty just expired last July, it cost me $1200 for that issue. Now, Im heading to Texas driving my Acadia, makes me wonder what discrepancy will my Acadia will call out.

I got a 2016 gmc acadia in oct 2015. Weeks after I noticed a noise coming from the engine. Took car in Dec 2015 and was told there was a problem with the sln valve faults p05cc, p05cd, p05cf, and p05ce. Dealership replaced all 4 actuators. Contacted gmc and told them that my vehicle is a lemon. Earlier this year started to have same problem informed dealership. Sunday 8/7 coming back from an outing got a ln alert on dashboard engine overheating. Had to pull over. Had vehicle towed to dealership, diagnostics engine is damaged. They had to order a new engine which will take about 2 weeks. Contacted gmc, open case and have not heard back. I just want for them to buy my car back because they sold me a lemon. Brand new car I should not be having these problems.

We too had to put in a new transmission as well as problem with steering wheel and stability track. We have put in close to $7,000 into this car that we paid $42,000 custom ordered. I thought at first it was because ours was being built when GMC went on strike but after reading comments thats not the case. Now we just find out that the piston is shot and we now have to put in a new engine with not even having 200,000 miles on it! This is crazy. GMC should be reimbursing us for this cost. The sad thing is I love the style and comfort of it just not all the extra money we have had to put into it due to GMC poor engineering. Please if anyone knows of a class action suit against them for this let me know. This is not right! They know they have a problem with it and wont make things right.

I purchased my 2009 GMC Acadia from the dealer 15 mos ago. There was no problems until my headlights started flickering. I carried to the dealership to find out my HID lights have melted the casing so I had to get a headlight assembly that which cost $1373.04. They said that it was not covered under the warranty. It shouldve been electrical. Why? Its HID lights get hot enough to melt the casing. There should be a recall on those.

December 18, 2010. Purchased 2011 GMC Acadia LT-1, Model ACA, for $39,363.19. November 2015 - Received the following notice from GMC: As the owner of a 2011 model year GMC Acadia, your satisfaction with our product is very important to us. This letter is intended to make you aware that, on some 2011 model year GMC Acadia vehicles, the throttle-position sensor may cause the engine to run rough, cause the malfunction-indicator lamp and/or an engine reduced power message to illuminate, and reduce the engine’s power. Do not take your vehicle to your GMC dealer as a result of this letter unless you believe that your vehicle has the condition as described above. General Motors is providing owners with additional protection for the condition described above. If this condition occurs on your 2011 GMC Acadia within 10 years of the date your vehicle was originally placed in service or 120,000 miles, whichever occurs first, the condition will be repaired for you at no charge. Our Acadia did not have the malfunction-indicator lamp and/or an engine reduced power message illuminate but starting in January 2016, the engine did start to run rough.January 2 – January 7, 2016. First Noticed Problems: Our Acadia engine was running very rough – idling, accelerating with unusual RPM’s, not running smoothly, stopped at lights and it felt it was going to die, etc. The Acadia has 60K miles on it. Brought the car to BTR (garage we have used for over 20 years, and 9 cars). BTR replaced four Solenoids, which did not fix the problem. After several more days trying to diagnose the problem, they suggested we have the car towed to a GM dealer that was most convenient, Classic Chevrolet. So we did.January 8 – January 25, 2016. Classic Chevrolet reported that the problem was the Catalytic Converter, and that they would replace it, under warranty. Apparently, this did not fix the problem. After researching this for several days, they were looking at a timing chain. Classic informed us that ‘needed to open the front end to further diagnose it. This was going to cost us $1,600 to open up the engine, and it could cost significantly more depending on what they find.’ Classic then reported they found ‘metal shavings’ in the oil, diagnosed the problem as “Catastrophic Engine Failure” and reported we needed a whole new engine, at a cost of about $7,700, on a 2011 GMC Acadia with 60K miles. Classic stated that since we had not had the Acadia serviced (i.e. oil changes, etc.) at a GM dealer, thus ACDelco oil filters were not used, we would be responsible for 100% of the cost. After we provided receipts for the regular maintenance required for an automobile, Classic stated that GM would pay for 60% of the new engine, and we would be responsible for 40% of the costs. The offer of us paying for 40% of the costs of a new engine is unacceptable. According to our Acadia’s owner’s manual we were not required, nor is it even suggested, to use ACDelco oil filters, and that according to the Federal Trade Commission, i.e. the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, it is against the law for a car manufacturer to mandate a specific brand of car product, unless it is provided at no charge. After we informed Classic of the above mentioned point, Classic Chevrolet stated they wanted to tow the car to a GMC dealership. So, it was towed to GMC Beck & Masten North. This is where the car was purchased in 2010.January 25 – Present. Upon receipt of the car, GMC Beck & Masten North first reported they needed to do their own diagnostic research as no paperwork was sent with the car. Furthermore, they stated the car started up fine, albeit it was running a little rough, but they would get back to us with further details as soon as possible. After over 2 weeks at this dealer, now the 3rd repair shop to be used, the service manager stated that ‘the engine looks good, appears to be well maintained. Our service records were good but he was waiting on GMC to see what kind of assistance they could offer. He also stated the oil looked good, and that he did not see any problem with the filter and/or using after market oil filters.’Finally, Beck & Masten stated the engine needs to be replaced – 5 of the 6 bearings were spun/gone – it would cost approximately $8,000, and that GMC would pay for 50% of the costs and we would be responsible for the other 50%. Again, this is totally unacceptable. Beck & Masten stated they would talk to their regional GMC representative and get back to us. Other notes during this process: This is 2011 GMC Acadia – purchased on December 18, 2010 – it has 60K miles on it – the problems started 5 years and 15 days after it was purchased. It is not stated in the owner’s manual what brand, or what specs are required, in an oil filter. We have serviced this car regularly since the date it was purchased – have provided all receipts to date. We have spoken to GMC Customer Service, (1-800-462-8782), during this whole process. We have been told to be patient 63 times. Industrial Distributors, supplier of the oil filters to BTR, called Classic Chevrolet, the dealer who originally stated the after-market oil filters were faulty, in attempt to investigate the filter scenario in more detail. Classic never returned phone call. General Manager of Classic Chevrolet, commented that he ‘had a hard time believing that after-market oil filters would cause catastrophic engine failure.’ We have been told “I understand your frustration”, 47 times. Beck& Masten, stated there could be two reasons that this many bearings in an engine would fail. 1. There was water in the engine, i.e. car drove through high water. However, they stated there was no evidence this ever occurred (which we also attested to), or 2. There was poor lubrication in the engine due to lack of oil. We have provided all receipts affirming the Acadia was serviced at regular intervals. We have further reported that at no time was there an indication that oil was low in the Acadia. Therefore, if poor lubrication did occur, any warning indicators in the Acadia did not work properly. The engine in the Acadia is a 3.6 LLT, is a Direct Injection Engine. This feature causes extremely rapid degradation/failure of the oil between changes, resulting in rapid degradation of cam gears, timing chains and premature failure of crank bearings. It is our understanding GM stopped using this engine in the Cadillacs, LaCrosses and Camaros. General Manager of GMC Beck & Masten, stated, unsolicited, that his recommendation for the future, whether it is a GM product or not, to have cars serviced only at a dealer, because it ‘carries more weight.” Commentary: Kind of interesting how a GM would suggest building your war chest for a potential fight with the manufacturer. Is GM building cars anticipating situations like this to happen on a regular occurrence? Several times, we asked Classic Chevrolet, GMC Customer Service and GMC Beck & Masten North for their diagnoses in writing. As of this date, nothing has been provided. Not once, have we seen any evidence that GM, GMC, Classic Chevrolet, and GMC Beck & Masten North, are working together to resolve this issue. Commentary: seems to be a Catastrophic Communication Failure for a Catastrophic Engine Failure! GMC, GM, GMC Beck & Masten, not to mention numerous auto mechanics we have talked to, all question, “Why was the car transferred from one GM dealer to another GM dealer?” BTR – it was explained to us that a catastrophic engine failure is a term used to describe a complete failure of the engine. 5 out 6 bearings spun would mean completely knock out the engine. If a bearing fails, you hear a “knock” or a “ping”, usually one fails at a time. If there were 5 bearings failed it had to be an instantaneous loss of oil and a catastrophic failure. If the engine ran on January 8th to check the catalytic converter, when did this catastrophic failure occur? On Jan 26th, after going to Beck & Masten, the engine started up but ran hard with knocks. I was under the impression with 5 bearings failed the engine shouldn’t even start. Beck & Masten sent this to us a little while ago: When we disassembled your vehicle, we found 5 spun rod bearings and scored cylinder walls. The engine (inside) was not dirty and the oil was clean. The oil looked to have been changed recently. Cause of failure is unknown. It will be necessary to replace engine to complete this repair. Commentary: Kind of sounds like a faulty engine to me!

Spent $50k on this new vehicle (2017 GMC Acadia Denali AWD) and it has been a total disaster from day 1 - From rattles and squeaks in dash, seats, and lift gate to the biggest issue, vehicle shudders at constant speeds! (GOOGLE GMC #PIP5488). We ended up finding this out at our 5th service, but at the 4th service, our entire drivetrain was torn apart to have the torque converter clutch replaced - Which didnt solve our problem. We just got word today that GMC is not willing to offer us a buyback, rather we were told we had to wait for a fix! Dealership says it could be 2 years! WHAT! Spend $50k, suffer for 4 months, no fix, no timetable, and no support! GMC, see you in court! Wouldve given this 0 stars.

I bought a 2008 Acadia with 35000 miles and the first month I was having transmission problems, the dealer fixed it. Then 8 months later, it had transmission problems again. They fixed it again then the rack and pinion went sour. I had to pay to get that fix 100 with the warranty. Then my warranty expires without warning. My engine blew. I keep up on my oil changes. The roof leaks when it rains. Unable to fix the car because no money. I am paying 450 a month for a car I cant drive. This car is a ripoff and I regret ever buying it. Money pit is the word and they should recall these cars, but it will be cheaper to pay people in a class action suit than recall them. I hate this car and when I do fix it, I will trade it in a heartbeat. Oh and before the engine blew, the transmission was giving me trouble again. Lemon law should apply to this piece of junk.

We own a 2010 GMC top of the line Acadia with only 45000km on it, its two owner car (87 year old man gave to his daughter). Its never towed anything and has had regular maintenance. I was taking the Acadia on Oct 22/16 over to my mechanics to have him check the urgency of repair needed for the power steering seals (they are bleeding which seems to be a very common problem for the Acadia). Upon driving the mere 4 miles to his business the vehicle started accelerating on its own. On a level surface it was actually increasing speed and required constant braking to maintain speed. Upon putting the car in park it was revving high.My mechanic tried connecting to the computer which gave no error message, disconnected the throttle body to confirm there was no debris or anything to cause spontaneous acceleration. He also disconnected the battery and reset the vehicles computer which had no effect. I submitted an online ticket to GM Canada on Oct 23/16 to bring to the companys attention the issue. Ive been contacted twice by phone to give the VIN number (provided to them on the online ticket Oct 23, left a voice mail to the case worker Oct 26 and again to a customer service rep Nov 3).My mechanic has identified the issue as being the throttle pedal sensor and seems to have successfully fixed the glitch however has warned me that since it has gone at such low mileage is highly likely to fail again. Im concerned to take it for long distance trips as this is the third issue thats occurred with this vehicle and is likely to happen again. To date weve had to fix the front sprayer for the windshield and we have the expensive fix for the power steering rack and pistons upcoming. Im severely disappointed that a car with such low mileage has such issues and am worried what future issues are upcoming. That said my mother enjoys how it handles and is everything she wants with a SUV. I just wish it had less problems.

Our 2011 GMC Acadia (18,500 miles) will be in the shop for the third time as of tomorrow within four weeks. Each time, it has been to a different dealer/shop for repair. The first two noted two very different issues, but it boils down to the fact that the vehicle has serious electrical issues. There are numerous complaints/threads about the 2011 Acadia regarding this issue, amongst others. We have contacted GM corporate/customer service (which takes us to Austin, TX) and have been given the runaround ever since. The vehicle actually lost power when I was on the road driving recently. I had no power to go forward, and could only reverse. We have serious concerns now about the safety of this vehicle, and the Texas customer service department, District Specialists, Jamal and Shareef (not sure how to spell Shareef, but I will spell it like it sounds), and Shareefs supervisor, Josh (**), have done nothing but brush us off, leave us waiting on the phone for an hour (literally). They tell us they will call us back at a certain time and then do not follow through, and give us attitude. The car is still not running correctly. Today Josh - who refuses to give his last name, refuses to give us the name of his boss and tells us we cant go above him, tells us to take it to the dealer (again) and if we are still not happy, they will look into swapping it out. Josh refuses to tell us what that process includes, or how long it may take. Keep in mind we have already been told this by Shareef, so they seem to like to keep pushing you off in efforts to not deal with you. Not one of them has seemed overly concerned about our safety. This is supposed to be our family car (three kids, two dogs), as well as our mountain car. We live in CO and are in the mountains about 2-3 times a month. What if the Acadia had shut down on us, or slipped out of gear like it did the first time and when we were unable to move, on a steep grade? Or on the mountain highways in general? The chances of us being hit and potentially killed are very, very high. There are very few places to pull over and people tend to drive fast.We are highly disappointed with the individuals we have dealt with in Texas, as well as ** who works for a Chevy dealer (who was supposed to have fixed our car this last time) on 120th Ave. in Broomfield, CO. He seemed to think that the car shutting down on me on a highly traveled road was somewhat normal and a safety feature. He said that all cars have problems, and we should just expect them. Needless to say, the runaround and lack of general interest in our situation makes me seriously question the product I bought from GM, and GM all around. I should have bought the Nissan Armada. We are sorry to have given GM our business at this point. As a side note, each dealership who was supposed to have fixed our car (GMC in Glenwood Springs and Chevy on 120th) returned our car back very dirty. Grease marks were on the drivers, passenger door and wheel (Chevy), and tons of dust and debris were coating the interior of our car, which indicates they left the windows wide open (Glenwood Springs). ** at Chevy offered us a coupon at a local car wash, but did not seem to care or think it was bad customer service to give us back the Acadia more dirty than it initially was. These were terribly customer service experiences all around.

I purchased my 2008 GMC Acadia in January of 2012. I loved this vehicle because of the features, space, and overall I thought I could trust GMC. Plus, I was expecting my first baby and thought this would be a great family vehicle. I never noticed that my car charger did not work, thought it was the charger but after 4 of them it turns out it was the truck! The dealership did not want to fix it. Then I noticed there was a noise in the tires, dealership wanted to charge just to look at it. Then, the windows wouldnt go down, now, the darn thing wont start! When I am driving, the truck wont go! This is so darn dangerous and GMC tells me I have to fix it myself because they are not responsible. My truck wont start and its the gas pump that was defective from the get go. I will NEVER buy GMC again. They need to take responsibility for the garbage they sold.

I purchased my 2011 GMC Acadia Denali new and have always serviced at the dealership. Two weeks ago my engine stalled at a stop sign. I had it towed to the dealer thinking it was the alternator, but turns out my engine went with only 58,000 miles. The dealer contacted me yesterday after the vehicle being there for two weeks now. They informed me that the bill will be $9,500 and that GM will cover $4,300 and I will need to cover the $5,200 balance. I had just replaced the defective navigation system in February 2018 which entailed replacing the entire radio as well. I have been loyal GM customer my entire life with all of my new vehicle purchases. Unfortunately loyalty does not seem to really matter with this company. I had been planning on buying the new 2020 Cadillac XT6 next year.

I bought my 2008 Acadia New from the dealership and I have been in Love with it from the beginning. The biggest issues Ive had are my water pump going out in 2013. The rails on floor to moves rows back & forth are a hassle but weve managed to just fold the seats & thats always worked (I got the 8 passenger). A/C has gone bad a couple of times as well. Other than that no major issues. Im at 180k miles now & it decided it was tired by stalling on me & shaking on the freeway, it read on dash Engine reducing speed. I was told by a technician that the transmission was going out and not worth putting money in it anymore because it was at the end of the road. I took it to a different tech at a different shop and he said there seems to be nothing wrong with the transmission and its the suspension, a/c and a few leaks that were not caught which led it to have no coolant & overheating. I have been debating getting a new car because this car has been so good to me and Ive driven it from Los Angeles to Arizona, Las Vegas, Lake Arrowhead, & Big Bear every single winter. Im also a Realtor so I drive a lot. My transmission and engine have never been replaced. So Im having a hard time parting with it. The second technician that gave me a second opinion also offered me $2500 if I decide to actually part with it. Im still debating and having a hard time but I think the time has come to say goodbye. :(

I purchased a brand new 2012 GMC Acadia at the end of November 2011. The engine had to be replaced at 31,000 miles. When they replaced the engine (thankfully that was covered under warranty) and took it for a test ride it was noted that the engine was MISFIRING. They replaced the fuel injector and everything seemed kind of ok for a while. Months later the car had a thumping/ rattling noise in the front end. Also the car started misfiring again. Spark plugs were changed twice and coil was replaced. I have been towed a few times and drove to the dealership numerous times. The car has been in the shop 22 times for the SAME TWO ISSUES. They changed just about everything in the front end for the thumping/rattling noise... struts, bushings, etc. They couldnt figure it out so they had a GMC expert fly out from the Midwest. Supposedly they fixed the issue and the noise went away for a while and came back. Now they tell me I need new struts!!?? Again?? And, now they tell me I need new cylinder heads also at $5100!! This new engine only has 60,000 miles on it!! I have a friend who has owned a shop for 35 years and has worked on my car a couple of times. He thinks maybe when they put the engine in they pinched the wiring harness or its something electrical that is causing the misfiring since it is random. He also feels since they changed everything in the front end they didnt tighten the cradle bolts when they put the engine back in and that is whats causing the rattling noise. These problems started after they put the new engine in. Whatever the case the car has been a piece of junk from the beginning. Also the power steering pump has been replaced twice in two years, not to mention numerous recalls and other issues. I have contacted an attorney and I would NEVER trust another GMC vehicle. I have NEVER owned a vehicle with so many issues. Not even a used vehicle...

After working hard for many years and striving to purchase what I thought was a top of the line vehicle - I purchased in July 2013 a used GMC 2010 Acadia SLT AWD fully loaded coming off a 3 year lease. I cannot afford a brand new one with a sticker of $45,000. The vehicle had extremely low mileage 33,000 miles. I wanted a larger, heavier vehicle with AWD to plow through the Michigan snow. I need a vehicle with low miles as I drive annually 22,000 per year. After one year of ownership, the vehicle had the typical Rack noise which is described in many forums was supposedly fixed by the dealer. This fix lasted one year and the rack once again is starting to thump at low speed turns. To fix this rack even though it was replaced a year earlier is $1000. In the 2.5 years that I have owned it I am now at 87,000 miles. I regularly changed the oil faithfully every 5-6,000 miles. I used synthetic oil as was told to me to do at the dealer. I did this because I was relying heavily on the car to last me to 160,000 miles or higher. That was not to be.4 days ago my husband took the car and the vehicle completely died on his way home. No lights, no warning, no nothing. We thought it was the battery and replaced the battery. You turn the key on vehicle to turn it over and nothing. My husband is not a professional mechanic but knows a lot about vehicles. He got under the vehicle to see what was going on and decided to try to turn the crankshaft -- it was completely seized. Yesterday the vehicle that I thought was finally one that was going to last now is going to cost at a minimum of $3000 to $6000 to repair. I am so upset and so frustrated with the way the Chevy/GMC vehicles have major issues with miles greater than 70,000. I dont know yet how we are going to pay to fix this vehicle. We are right now waiting on the official diagnosis from the dealer.Yesterday they called and stated it is for sure an internal issue and needed our permission to tear it apart. Once and if we fix it (not going to be able to afford the fix probably), I will never be able to trust the vehicle again. 2 weekends ago we had a basketball tournament and had 2 other children in the car with us over 100 miles away from home. Thank God this vehicle did not break down in rural Michigan that far from home. We are unsure if the root cause was the timing chain that seems to happen to these SUVs. I wish I would have spent hours investigating and reading reviews on this vehicle as I would not of purchased it if I had known this. I am very scared if we do decide to keep it that the transmission will go next.I had a Chevy Venture van which the transmission blew up at 80,000 miles and the whole car pretty much fell apart. Power sliding door stopped working, automatic windows stopped working along with the rear back wiper. I thought I would give another chance to GMC/Chevy to prove me wrong with a top of the line vehicle but I was wrong. My advice on these message boards is this - do not keep these vehicles more than 70,000 miles. They do not last. I have decided after the 2nd lemon from GM/Chevy I am going to try either a Ford Edge or Chrysler Jeep. I plan to purchase something with a better warranty than what GM and Chevy offer. GM and Chevy have lost my business once and for all.Updated on 02/23/2016: Today is February 23 and it is Day 25 since my 2010 Acadia blew up. After 9 days of diagnostics the final diagnosis was a spun rod bearing went in the lower end of the engine and it experienced catastrophic engine failure. A new engine will need to be installed if one can be located. After countless hours speaking with GMC and due to the fact that I am just shy of the 5 year mark --- GMC agreed to pay 60% and we pay 40% for a new engine. Total out of pocket expense will be around $3000.00. The dealership was kind enough to give me a rental car while this mess is figured out. Total fix for an engine swap is about $7500.00 for a vehicle that is at 87,000 miles. I am detailing the saga here of dealing with GMC and how many hours my husband has been on the phone trying to get this resolved. An engine was located and arrived at the dealer on Feb 16th. On Feb 17th we were told the engine that GMC agreed to split cost with us arrived missing parts. The dealer stated this was unacceptable and sent the engine back and requested a new one. After 22 days at the dealership we are still waiting on an engine. I believe engine availability is so limited right now because GMC is having to replace so many of these 3.6L V-6 engines. So the saga goes on. So the saga goes on. For something to happen in January – I am really hoping to have my car fixed in March some time! An engine was located and shipped to the dealer.
