Ford Says It Has TWO Things EV Startups Would Kill For
Posted On: March 3, 2022
The EV race isn't heating up, it's on fire, and every second person with a degree in electrical engineering or a few thousand Twitter followers thinks that they can start up an EV company. We've witnessed the troubles experienced by EV startups such as Rivian, not to mention the drama over Faraday Future, and despite being an industry leader, Tesla still has its fair share of technical problems and quality issues. Mainstream manufacturers are in on the EV action now, and Ford CEO Jim Farley believes that legacy automakers have certain advantages that new startups simply don't. During a virtual fireside chat with auto analyst Rod Lache at the Wolfe Research Global Auto, Auto Tech, and Mobility Conference, Farley said that the Blue Oval has two major advantages over smaller EV manufacturers. Ford is one of the world's largest vehicle manufacturers and enjoys a history spanning an impressive 118 years with millions of cars on the road. According to Farley, Ford is "better at body engineering and paint than any of the startups." Highlighting the latter, he mentioned that Rivian's CEO, R.J. Scaringe, "would love to have our body shop and body engineering team."rnHighlighting Rivian was no mistake, as Ford owns a stake in the company. Previously, Ford was going to leverage Rivian's skateboard platform for its own EVs, but changed this plan last year after developing its own platform. Ford's EV crusade has thus far been a success story, with the Ford Mustang Mach-E selling in great numbers and major models such as the Ford F-150 Lightning promising even more profits. This comes as Rivian struggles to scale up its production and finish its new production facility in Georgia. As per usual, the big dog has the upper hand, but small and nimble companies have the advantage of less red tape, and more overall flexibility, which is key in such a rapidly changing industry.

My overall experience with my Mercury Mariner is really good. I havent had any problems with it and I bought it used one year ago. Its a 2006 and I love it. Its dependable and its easy to drive. I like all the features it comes with too! I like the sunroof, the radio/cd player and it allows you to place several CDs in it at one time. It has automatic windows and theyre tinted which is also a plus. I also like that it has good working air conditioning and the heat works good as well. The front seats have a button to heat them which is very nice to have on extra cold days. I would like it to have a GPS system but it doesnt. I could always add one but other than that, I dont have anything that I dislike about it. I would like it if the window tint was a little bit darker but I can always get that done.

Bought brand new 2008 Ford 450. Have been having numerous issues and problems with the truck. Was tricked out of extended warranty, vehicle needs $3800 in repairs and Ford is not helping. Each time I brought vehicle in for repair, I would note Ford what the issue was and they would always tell me it was something else, and after paying for their stated opinion of repair, I would still have same problem or another problem with vehicle.

This car started off my dream car. I moved from Louisiana to California about 4 years ago and the troubles began. Apparently the car cannot handle the hills and inclines of San Diego. About a year after moving here I started having a slight thud after putting far in reverse. My husband said I just needed to let the motor wind down before putting in drive. It wasnt an everyday all the time problem. Just intermittent then last year it began to shut off on me going down the road. I would stop at a stop sign or red light and the car literally would crawl then hard bang and take off. The problems got more frequent and worse. I was involved in a frontal collision doing about 30 miles an hour, enough to send the other car that ran the red light into a 360 turn and not one air bag in the car went off. $13000.00 dollars worth of damage to the front end of my car and not one air bag inflated. Thank god we were all buckled up. After the accident I drove the car for about 2 weeks before the car literally sounded like it was grinding rocks, transmission slipping severely and I was afraid to drive it. I take it into the local Ford dealership and after having it for 2 days I get a call saying they cant figure it out. 10 minutes later they call and say its ready. I get there and Im told you need a new transmission. $5700 for a transmission that apparently has some defects from all of the other people Ive read complaining having the same issues! Ford should be ashamed for putting a transmission in a family car that is potentially unsafe and unreliable. Beware when buying one of these.

I had a voluntary repossession in 2002, 10 years ago, which was charged off, according to Experian. Theyve ruined my credit since then, and expect me to pay interest on the property I dont even have. For 4 times, the write-off in 2008 according, to Experian now put another judgement I bought in Colorado. The judgement is in Missouri. Something isnt right. I need advice! Ford Motor Credit Customer Service is not, and has not done anything but repossess it, sell it, and write it off in 2008. Is this right? I dont have the property, and no change in my credit report. I need some help, and maybe some constructive advice in a letter, if possible. Can I avoid bankruptcy, after all this?

They added over 5,000 of optional fees onto my contract, changed the term on me, and lied about my apr saying it was 8 percent higher then it actually was to hide all these fees. The car rolls backwards, shakes, doesnt want to accelerate and more. Ford wont stand behind the customers because all they are focused on is capital. Eventually ford will end themselves with poor quality vehicles and exceptionally terrible service. Never in my life would I have thought a company would be capable of both. Get it together please. They will only let me get half my money back for a warranty I didnt ask for... This is a common thing for ford... I have over 15 people who I contacted that have had this exact incident happen to them.

Since 1959, I have been a loyal Ford owner/customer. I worked as a mechanic
Since 1959, I have been a loyal Ford owner/customer. I worked as a mechanic and service manager for a Ford dealership back in the 60s for almost 10 years at which time I attended Ford Motor company classes in White Plains NY and have dealt with many of the factory representatives and corporate people. So I know a little about Ford. Back then and beyond for quite a number of years, Ford Motor company promoted consumer satisfaction as one of their major concerns. As of late, I cannot state that any longer.Fords quality control has diminished to a low I could have never expected, not only with the manufacture of their automobiles but also the arrogance, disrespect and sheer lack of concern for the consumer. We all are aware of the fact that mechanical things can inherit defects from time to time and some are not the fault of Ford Motor Company like the Takata air bag debacle. It is extremely difficult to remedy a situation as large as this and this is where customer service comes in but Ford has a problem with customer service. They are poorly educated in the field, have no power to get anything done or render any assistance for your concern. Instead, they become frustrated and arrogant and leave you stranded and helpless directing you to take it up with your dealership of which if that were acceptable I would not be calling Ford Motor Company.Among many recent scenarios that have taken place with Ford in the last few years, including a 2011 Mustang with transmission problems that could not be repaired by the dealership that being Dana Lincoln Mercury of Staten Island NY or the so called engineers that came to check the car, I finally had to lemon law it and had Ford take it back after 8 months. The lawyer that handled my case was great at no cost to me, Ford customer service, horrible. After that was settled, I made the mistake of purchasing a 2012 Mustang from the same dealer, Dana Lincoln Mercury of Staten Island NY. Same lack of concern from Ford over a problem with dash gauge clear plastic that was delaminating and blurring vision of gauges and radio. Ford Motor company when contacted, told me it was my fault for using some form of chemical that caused it to delaminate even though it was delaminating from the inside of the clear plastic, not the outside. Then there was a problem with paint bubbling on the hood of the car. The skin of the hood is aluminum and the frame is made of steel. These two types of metal cannot touch without causing a chemical reaction which causes aluminum to oxidize causing the paint to bubble. Paint problems, if you check with Google, has been going on with Ford since the year 2006. You would be amazed at the depth of which this paint problem has gone on and not been exposed. Fords solution,Sorry cant help you. Its probably something you have been using while washing the car. You cant repaint it, oxidation never stops once it starts. My fix, purchased a fiberglass hood for $1400.The latest situation is with my wifes 2007 Mustang with 21,000 miles on it and a DEFECTIVE TAKATA AIRBAG INFLATOR. Now I know its difficult to repair thousands upon thousands of cars and obtaining all of those parts from the manufacturer is almost impossible. We waited 2 years from the first recall letter and understood that it is important to recall the newer cars first. So we waited. Checking with the dealer from time to time. Finally we received a letter from Ford that our parts for the 2007 Mustang are now available, call your dealer. We did, set up an appointment, brought the car in just to be told that the parts are not in yet, even though Ford said they were. The service manager assured me that the part is now available and they would order the part and call when it came in. They never called and when I called them, they said they would have to order the part. Here we go round in circles. After 4 attempts with the dealership I contacted Ford Motor Company. It took 3 phone calls to get to a representative that understood my problem and only because I was able to understand him and he understood me. He contacted the dealership, Dana Lincoln Mercury and ordered the part needed for the 2007 Mustang. He also completed the task and made an appointment for me to have it done that coincided with the arrival of the part. I was shocked. Brought the car in on that day at 8 AM and was told that there is no stock on the part needed for my car. Went back home and called Ford Motor Company, tried to explain my problem, spoke to someone who spoke very bad broken English and could not help me at all. At that time I called back and spoke to someone else and asked to be escalated to a supervisor with no success. That customer service representative told me that I had no such recall on that car. The next representative said he would call the dealer, put me on hold and came back and said there were no service advisors available at the dealership to speak to. I said, there are 9 of them there, call back. After he got arrogant with me, I got him to call back. At the same time I called the dealer and spoke to a service advisor. The Ford representative came back on the line and told me again that he could not get to talk to a service advisor. I had to stop. The level of frustration was just too great. I later called Ford customer service again and requested a supervisor. I was told that one would contact me within 48 hours. At this time, I am awaiting their call. If I do not receive a call shortly, I am going to contact local news agencies and the pertinent Government agencies for assistance. Remembering what you have previously read and hopefully you have googled Ford bubbling paint be advised, Ford has made an all aluminum pickup truck this year. I dont know how theyre keeping the paint on it but I would investigate it further if you are thinking of buying one. Leasers have no problem, just give it back. I think thats why Ford quality control does not exist any longer. It doesnt have to. And by the way, I have found out that the dealership, Dana Lincoln Mercury of Staten Island NY, has no loaner cars available. It seems that they have become inundated with a large amount of transmission problems that have taxed them to the limit but you will never hear about that either. I will never purchase another Ford as long as I live even though I am a die hard Mustang lover. Very sad. You have been Advised.

Backing out the driveway, I heard a loud snapping sound. I read about these problems before, so I pulled the car into the shop to have a look. I was thinking the spring never punctured the tire so I cut 2 inches off the coil to save the tire, and now upon further inspection, the other three springs have fractures in them so a replacement of all 4 struts and springs is a must now.

I bought a 2016 F450 truck. I bought it brand new. I put 16203 miles on it. Its now 1 year old. The ac is not blowing so I bring it to the dealership that I bought it from. They tell me the evaporator coil is clogged up. They want $2400 to repair. They tell me this is not covered under warranty. I have a brand new truck with no air conditioning. I also bought a 2018 F450 and a 2018 Explorer for my wife. 3 trucks in one year from Ford. It seems like they would be a little more interested in fixing the problem instead of trying to make me pay $2400 to fix a brand new truck???

I bought a Ford Escape 2015 brand new car. During the warranty, DVD player, Bluetooth stop working so they have upgraded software. During warranty, wheel nuts was damage in a year, but they said its not covered so end up paying $200 or so. Steering coating started peeling out but again it was under warranty so was covered. Now after 3 years, DVD player and Bluetooth stop working again. Dear says its not under warranty even though I explained them that issue was incurred within 2 years. Called Ford customer service head office but found they are useless. I strongly feel that their vehicle and customer services both are sucks.

I recently purchased a 2016 Ford Expedition. This vehicle is extremely noisy and I am unable to get any contact from Ford Motor Company. I have a case number and a contact, Mark **, who does not call me back. I have left at least six messages on his voice mail. This is my 3rd Expedition, Ford replaced the V-8 Engine that was in my earlier models with a V-6, added a very noisy fan to cool the AC system without notification to the buyer. My dealer has contacted Engineering and they say they do not have a problem and that the noise is Normal?? They do have a problem and need to provide a solution or terminate their engineers. The mechanics and Service manager and dealer at my dealership agree that the car is very noisy and believe Ford also went cheap on the AC system and that is why engineering put huge fan (noisy) in vehicle, to Cover their back end! I would not recommend the 2016 Expedition or the F-150 with the V-6 to anyone. Vehicle is not to Ford standards and neither is their Customer Care division.

Purchased 2012 F450 in January 2013, $53,000.00. I purchased an additional warranty that covered motor parts only 200,000 mile warranty. I have a hot shot business and needed a dependable truck. Running a lot of miles, keeping maintain 61,000 miles the air conditioning stopped working, I contacted Ford, due to miles, air conditioning was not covered, $693.00 out of pocket costs.3 days after the air compressor repair, the Truck started making a loud noise. It was the Turbo, Ford had my truck for over 1 month for repair, I lost my business. I parked the Truck to sell, after 5 months no sell, started business 1/14/14, under 15,000 miles later on 2/25/14 air compressor locked up. 2/27/14 Truck started making a loud noise, pulled over waited until the next morning for Ford repair to open. 2/28/14 confirmed Turbo problem, they were too busy and we needed to return Monday 3/3/14 1000 miles away from home, additional hotel costs, delivery costs and had to cancel all of our other jobs that we had scheduled. I had to hire another company to finish my delivery at a high cost. 3/3/14, Was told by Ford the Turbo would be repaired in 3 days. They gave us a rental car to return home, the car covered 2 days, 1200 miles to get home. 3/4/14 Ford called to see if rental car had been returned yet, and to let me know that some sensors burn would needed be replaced, out of pocket charge of $392.00. When we returned the car, they tried to charge us $146.00 because we were over the 1200 miles. We calculated for them we did not go over 1000 miles. 2/28/14, I opened a case with Ford, was called back on 3/5/14 and was told they would get us a airplane ticket to return for the truck after the repairs were complete. I explained about our losses, was told they could not help with any of that. I stated that I felt I should consult with an attorney and was told that this person could no longer speak to me and the call was ended. 3/12/14 no contact from Ford, I am losing business again, and there is nothing I can do? I have consulted with 3 attorneys. This is not something they can help with? I am being wronged, I spent $53,000.00 for dependable Truck I thought, now I am losing money every day that truck is not running. I have a Hugh Truck payment each month and a large Insurance payment, and Ford cannot help me. I am losing my business again. This morning I get a call from my daughter to say that while taking her kids to school, she had stopped briefly to put some gas in and, while fueling the station manager and several other people rushed to her vehicle with fire extinguishers. My daughter quickly got my grandkids out and, stepped away to let the guys do their job. Once the fire was out and things cooled down a bit. it was evident that the cause was from the exhaust swelling up due to heat and pressure of a clogged catalytic converter system. Thanks, EPA IDIOTS. You nearly burned my daughter and grandkids alive due to your stupidity. Ford should recall this whole damn line of vehicles (but wont) due to costs. I have owned my share of Ford cars and trucks since 1979. I used to believe they were the best and the quality was off the chart. However of lately, my past two 2017 Ford’s were not the Fords I have had in the past. The quality has gone from 10 to about a 7 at best. I have recently owned and still drive my 2017 Taurus and recently parted with my 2017 F250 Diesel pickup. The truck wasn’t as bad as the Taurus but there were minor things. The truck had starting issues, and the quality of products used was not up to par in my opinion. Mechanically it seemed to hold its own, I didn’t like how the computer limited its capabilities to be the truck it could actually be. As for the Taurus, it is a good mechanical sound driving vehicle as I expect from a Ford. However the body panels don’t line up, misaligned doors to 1/4 panels, the hood and trunk don’t fit correctly. I got a really good deal on it and didn’t take it to heart too much. But now after year 3.5 I am starting to notice rust sitting in the gutter of the trunk lid, that is unacceptable. There are a lot of people who drive Fords today or in the past because of my tenacity about them. However now not so much so. I recently bought my wife a Chrysler 300 Sedan, it is a nice well built car, I become more and more impressed with it over my beloved Fords. I have owned probably over 50 vehicles in my life time, mostly Ford’s and a few GMs. Dodge hasn’t been a player since the early 70’s. Now they are back on the map! I am impressed and GM has made their way back as well. Ford needs to tighten up again. I was looking forward to possibly buying The new Bronco, however, I am really looking at the Rams and Dodges right now... If we continue to have good fortune with the Chrysler it will motivate me to move away from the Ford line. Trust me I live and breathe Ford’s, my RV is The F53 RV Chassis with the V10, I love it! My late 90 and early 2000 Ford’s were much better, quality, craftsmanship and sheer engineering ingenuity. Just thought I would share. I have had at least one (1) Ford all my 45 years of driving. Not bad, but times have changed and so has Ford unfortunately. Breaks my heart. I hope they turn it around before it is too late, especially after dropping their automobiles. I plan on making a purchase in the next year, hoping to be my final purchase in my life time.

So we started a search for a new product Toyota Honda Pilot, Mazda CX-5 excellent engineering and very dynamic, Ford Explorer. Mist full size SUVs have 3 rows of seats and are too large to fit in out 3 car garage. I was never really impressed with the Ford Escape 2010 and earlier. Tested a 2012 with 80k miles and it ran well but the dealer price of 16k was too high. Found another 2012 with sunroof and 56k miles. Not bad but 5k. Finally we tested a Ford Escape XLT FWD 4 cyl with 25k miles in mint condition. Bought in the spot for 14k from a private party (Craigslist), added Ford bumper to bumper warranty 4 yr 36k miles additional for $2k.This is an impressive high quality vehicle with good technology, excellent power, 32 miles highway 26 city. Since we bought in the past 3 months have not a single problem. Just delights & surprises. Kudos to Ford Motor Company for building such an outstanding well designed right sized product. Too bad the 2013 and on design new look like most oriental mini SUVs. I highly recommend this product to all my friends and foes.

Buying the Ecosport was a mistake.
Buying the Ecosport was a mistake. 1) The size does not allow more than two to travel comfortably, especially on long trips. The trunk is tiny and the rear seats are needed for luggage. 2) The economy factor is negligent when compared to our former Ford Escape. Gas, upkeep, and general savings are costing about the same as before. 3) Comfort is absent. The seats do not present a good ride at all on anything but a good highway. Even then it’s noisy. Nor is it meant for country driving at all. I wish we had been told.4) The dealership was not helpful when I asked for their help in going back to an Escape. The sales man said it was cost prohibitive and to call him in a few months. That’s not happening.I’ve hated this car from day one. I can’t wait to change vehicles at another dealership and another company.

2014 Ford transit van - This car isnt even 2 years old and I noticed hundreds of small holes in the paint. Took it into the local Ford dealership to see if the warranty covers it and, WELL OF COURSE!! No, it isnt covered because it is supposedly due to rock damage from the roads, that none of our other (more used) cars have. In addition, the dealership will not put this into writing so that I can complain to the road people. Now, I read all over the internet where Ford simply has cheap and terrible paint for their vehicles. Will be the last one I buy.

I leased a 2017 Fusion Energi in late December. About three weeks ago, I found the battery completely dead. After jumping the vehicle, I took it to the dealership (521 miles on the vehicle). After numerous discussions with the dealership, as well as Ford Customer support, I have been told that the part is back ordered with no delivery date identified. In the meantime, I have to continue making the payments, etc. while I wait for a resolution. Ford has offered no options related to this situation other than to wait for the part which, as I state, has no delivery date associated with it. The customer service follow-through post purchase is nothing short of terrible. If you are considering purchasing a Ford product, I encourage you to reconsider. I know this is the last Ford product I will ever purchase.

I own a 2006 Ford LCF truck purchased May 2007 cost $32,000.00. But after 7 years and 46000 miles, the repair and tow cost me over $17,000.00. Nov. 2009, mileage 19419 - replace starter and belt tensioner $1,600.00. Dec 2011, mileage 34983 - replace 2 fuel injector, main computer, cam sensor, crank sensor, $2,772.45. After talked to customer service the bill is $5,400.00. Dec 2013, mileage 46000 - replace all (6) fuel injector, $3,31.37 and oil pump $1,956.10. The truck still not fixed right. Then I brought the truck to a Ford dealer in **. They said there is another repair needs to be done. The fuel tank and whole fuel system is contaminate - will cost me $3,500.00 because the lining of the tank is contaminated and Ford Corp knows about this defect parts and doing nothing. I talked the person in charge of the commercial truck department. They said it is true about the tank, but they also say it is the oil company.

But when they turned me over to customer service lead Amelia **, I tried to call her for 2 weeks to find out what they were going to do. Never did hear back from her. Finally one of the other flunkies called me back and was so rude and short that I could not even talk to her. Now just found out my case is closed without ever hearing from anyone. I volunteered to take any of their families for a drive in my piece of crap car, but no one accepted the offer. Wonder why. Cannot wait to pay this pathetic vehicle down enough to trade it in. 2010 Ford Fusion stalls out and the orange wrench light comes on. The vehicle will stay running while idling roughly. After shutting off the vehicle and restarting the car, it will drive like nothing is wrong with it and will randomly have the same problem the next time I drive it. I tested it and I received the code P2111 THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM - STUCK OPEN. After finding out many people have had problems with the same part I contacted Ford - only to be told that since it isnt acting up for them, that Ford will not allow them to replace it. The vehicle is still at the dealership while they continue to test drive it and get it to stall out. This is a huge hazard! It is amazing that more people have not been killed or injured by an unresponsive car while crossing traffic. This part should have been an actual recall. Way to drop the ball, Ford and consumer safety watchdogs!

On December of 2010, I had transmission problems and we then had it replaced at Gates Automotive 73 Marway Circle Rochester, NY 14624; phone 585-247-3844. Then in March of 2012, we received a recall notice stating that there is a recall on the torque converter. So now that we received the notice this month that there is an official recall, they are denying the claim because it does not have specifics of the torque converter being the case, but does indicate the same problems of having park, no forward or reverse on van. I had them replace the transmission not knowing Ford was recalling it at that time because of it being two years prior to any letter. Now because the receipt does not indicate that it was a torque converter, they will not honor the refund on this job. I had spoken with a couple of individuals from the 1-800-232-5952 customer relationship center and still no headway. The company did not pull the transmission apart because no one knew of a recall. I would have rather paid for a torque converter than a whole transmission.

On Saturday, June 21, 2014, at 10:00pm my 2001 Ford F-150 started a fire under the hood after being parked for several hours. There was no trouble with the truck and we had just spent about $700 on maintenance services. Thank God my husband & kids were still up when they heard a loud noise outside, went to see what was going on, and found the truck in flames. The fire started to melt the vinyl siding on my house but the firefighters arrived just in time before the house caught on fire. I thank God for sparing my family and home. However, I would like to get any advice from those who has filed a case with Ford because something has to be done about these vehicles.

While driving down a 4-lane Expressway, my 2011 Ford Edge accelerator pedal stopped responding. The car did not lose all power, the accelerator just went dead. The car was idling very roughly, but when I pressed on the accelerator pedal nothing happened. There was no shoulder on the road so I had to stop in the middle of the road! I am SO lucky that no one rear-ended me before I was able to maneuver off the road. I turned off the car and waited a minute or two and turned the car back on. The accelerator was working so I headed home. The car went limp two more times before I arrived home a couple of miles down the road. The next day my husband followed me to the dealership with his emergency flashers on. My Edge went limp twice on the way to the dealership. The mechanic was familiar with the problem and diagnosed a bad Throttle Body. It was replaced for about $650.00 and the car runs fine now. This problem is common and needs to be addressed before someone is killed! I thank my lucky stars that this didnt happen on a busy interstate.

When the water pump goes on 3.5L engine it leaked coolant into the oil because it is built into the engine. No warning, and water in the oil basically destroyed the engine unless you are fortunate enough to catch it by fluke. If you are proactive and replace the water pump you are looking at 15 hours of shop labor plus parts and but there is no recommendations to do this in any manual. My motor is ruined and I will never buy a Ford again. WHAT A HORRIBLE DESIGN! There are several Ford engines with this design. This is a motor that is designed to fail. I purchased a 2015 Ford F-150 Truck this year which the airbag light appeared on the driver’s side of the vehicle. So I took the truck in to Bell Ford for warranty work on September 1, 2015 to fix this problem. The service department determined that they needed to replace the wiring harness inside the truck which involved stripping the entire interior of the vehicle. This meant everything had to come out down to the metal inside dash, seats, console, headliner, carpet, door panels; everything was torn out of my $63,000.00 brand new Ford F150 Platinum Truck!During this process I made calls to the assistant service manager, Mike **, to check on the progress and also to voice my concerns regarding the extent of this repair to my new truck. I was worried about the reassembly because of the drastic solution to this problem. I wanted to ensure that the service techs would efficiently put my truck back together so there were no rattles or other problems created because of this extensive repair. I related to Mike ** that my main concerns were that after the warranty was up that it might have some issues with rattles or malfunctions on anything in the future. Mike ** said if he owned this truck he would be concerned too however he assured me that he had his lead tech working on my truck. Also he stated that his guy was the only one working on my truck because only one guy should tear it apart and put it back together for continuity. On September 17, 2015, I stopped by in person to check on the progress of this repair and discovered that the lead tech was not the one doing the repair it was a young lady that was inside my truck reinstalling all of the parts that were scattered around my truck. I asked Mike ** if this young lady was his lead tech and he replied no however his lead tech was overseeing her work which to me is not what I had originally been told. There was no lead tech or any other tech involved at this time and the young lady inside whose name is Whitney verified that she is the only one that had been working on my truck.I received a call on September 18, 2015 informing me that the truck was ready to be picked up. I discovered after inspecting what I could see that there were many problems with the truck. There were visibly cracked and broken parts reinstalled instead of replaced. I ended up with a punch list of 13 items that were evident to the naked eye therefore who knows what is wrong with what cannot be seen. I took the truck back to the service department that day however they told me to keep it until they received the new parts they had to order that had been ruined during the reassembly process.I delivered the truck back to Bell Ford on September 30, 2015 and during the time between the 18th and the 30th of September I had more issues that surfaced in the dash area that could not have been originally detected until driving the truck for a while. Therefore I determined that this was going to be an ongoing problem and that I was not going to keep this vehicle. So I traded it in because of the distrust and the lying and would never feel confident with this truck in the future.I had a meeting with Lee **, General Manager, and Mike **, Service Manager on October 9, 2015 in which I requested reimbursement for the amount of money I was out for the accessories for the new truck which were items that I had purchased for the F150 truck originally. I gave Lee an itemized list which amounted to $2,063.86. Lee explained that he was leaving for Hawaii the next day (October 10, 2015) and could I give him a couple of weeks to work on a resolution. Lee and Mike apologized for their assistant service manager, Mike ** lying to me about the service repair and that they did not do right by me and were sorry for everything. After Lees return from Hawaii I met with Lee and Mike ** on October 22, 2015 where Lee apologized again profusely for the mistakes and lying regarding this repair. There was some discussion again about the issues and Lee said he was not going to give me $2,063.86 to go away. I got up to leave and said, Okay then I am done and then Lee said, Arent you going to negotiate? And I said, Okay I want $1,999.99, and Lee replied, I will give you $1,000. I said, No I am done and left. In summary Bell Ford admitted to bad service and their employee lying however they are not willing to make it right to my satisfaction. If all the repairs would have been done correctly I would have kept the truck and not been out any money.

Issues so far. Cabin air filter, horn sticking (both fixed by warranty). Not fixed by warranty: Loud noise in door, transmission, rear hatch, rear glass. Ford refuses to honor warranty. Dealership has been unable to fix issues. I have tried to call the regional warranty person at ford for over 3 months. Left over 15 messages. Warranty position has been held by 3 different people. Not one of them has called me back. I am not out of pocket over $1k in repairs that should have been covered under warranty if ford stood by their word. The transmission is slipping badly but dealership says they can do nothing as no code is thrown. I pray that it completely goes out before warranty period is over so they might fix it. I almost forgot, there is an exhaust leak that dealership claims is not there. The transmission also leaked fluid beginning at 20k miles. Rear hatch mechanism failed twice under warranty. Now that out of warranty and failed again, they refuse to cover. Cannot open rear hatch. Rear window exploded on freeway in snowstorm. Nothing touched it.Rear defrost was not running, only the rear wiper. Computer has shut down twice now and caused all of the dummy lights to come on when driving. Problem is intermittent and I am told there is nothing that can be done. I am beyond upset and frustrated and cannot believe that I cannot even get so much as a phone call back from the warranty department of ford corporate. Going to try to blast them everywhere I can and plan to go over options with lawyer this Friday.

Recently when driving my vehicle, which is one year out of warranty, Ive found that my car stops suddenly in the middle of the road, with traffic behind me! A small wrench light comes on, the car starts shaking and stops driving. I have to turn off and restart the car to get it going again, until it feels like dying again. Ive gotten stuck now 1-3 times a day, once in the middle of a busy intersection. My car gives me no limp-ability any longer.Ford gives me no satisfaction, although they acknowledge that this has happened with other years & models, and offered a temporary fix program (it appears to be a defective throttle body that needs to be replaced) for some of those vehicles, but that temporary deal is over now. I received a safety recall notice 11S25/NHTSA Recall 12V-006 indicating problems with the splines in the torque converter and instructions to contact dealer for repair if vehicle loses forward and reverse power before Ford has parts to fix the problem. The letter stated that parts are not currently available and are anticipated to be available in the 2nd Quarter of 2012 and replacement of the torque converter will be free of charge (parts and labor). On 5/4/12, I lost acceleration on my 2005 Freestar (VIN **) and I towed it 30 miles back home. After contacting service manager, **, at Valley Ford Lincoln dealership, I towed my van there for repairs on 5/7/12. The service manager called after inspection to tell me that my transmission break down had nothing to do with the recall part. He quoted me $1,500 to break it down to determine the needed repair and further cost to repair it. I then had it towed to Century Transmission (421 E St, Lemoore, CA 93245; 559-925-8853) where it was repaired for the cost of $2,091. The owner, Raul, informed me that the torque converter had worn splines and was indeed the needed repair. The receipt and part were taken back to service manager, who consulted his technician, **. Upon inspecting the part, technician stated that the part was shot and that the repair cost was not bad and that they would have charged at least that much. The service manager said he would use my receipt to see if I could get some if any of my money back. When the owner, Jack Keller, was contacted, he indicated that I would not get reimbursed for the repair because I should have had it towed back to Ford for repair even though I was told it was not the covered part. In addition to not trusting Ford to be honest at that point, it would have been my 4th tow and I would still have owed Century for labor. I have the original receipt and the removed torque converter in my possession for needed inspection and proof that the splines are worn and the torque converter is bad. I would like to be reimbursed for the cost of repair to my transmission ($2,091).

I purchased a 2011 Ford edge. I was recently reading the different features and realized that Sync was now compatible with IOS phones and I could listen to texts messages. Well, here is where it all begins. I contact the sync service because after following the online instructions to try and use the text feature. I was unsuccessful. The person gets on the phone and I explain my issue. She has me go to my car and go into settings insisting that I find this particular setting that did not exist. After arguing with her for about 30 mins. She finally decided to get a supervisor involved. She then came back and realized I needed to do a update install. So I followed her instructions to go on the website. Again I was unsuccessful downloading the update. In the meantime I do a vehicle report. Something that comes with your son account. While still trying to figure out how to download the update. I see in red on the following. VIN: **. FSA Title: Sync with MyFord/MyLincoln touch - warranty extension covering accessory protocol interface module (APIM). Field Service Action Number: 12M02. VIN: **. FSA Title: Extended warranty coverage on brake booster. Field Service Action Number: **.Now I tried several times to do the install. So I call in and a lady comes on and I explain to her I am unable to get the install to work. I also tell her at the time I am using a mac computer and she tells me that is fine. So she begins walking me through the steps. One of the steps is to drag three folders over to the usb. I explain to her that there is like 17. She says there should only be three that I did something wrong. So she proceeds to tell me to go ahead and just drag the first 3 over and try that. So after several attempts and an hour goes by. She finally talks to her supervisor. She comes back on and says. I am really sorry but my supervisor just told me we are having issues with the install with people using MAC. (Wow you just figured that out?) So she tells me that I will have to use a windows system. So I do that and the items I need load on the USB. So again I follow the instructions to install the update. Now it says the update will take around 30 mins. I install the usb. It does a few things and the screen goes blank. It says this is normal. An hour later the screen still has not come on. So I call Sync services again. I explain the issue and so the lady walks me through some steps and nothing worked to bring my screen up... So then she says she wants to check something else out. She comes back and says I found that your car has an extended warranty on the APIM that there is issues with it. She proceeds to give me a code number and tells me to go to the dealer and they will repair it at no charge. I go to the dealer and the dealer also sees that there is an extended warranty. So I make my appoint drop my car off and I get a phone call from the dealer. Telling me the APIM is bad. However is not under warranty.I was angry at this point. Had I been warned that the install may cause this issue and was told it was not under warranty I would have considered leaving it alone and going about my business or consulted the local dealership on the cost which is approximately $800 for something that Ford admitted was an issue. So I spend the next hour trying to get someone to listen. Only to be told sorry that warranty was for only five years and it ran out last year. So there was a huge lack of customer service experience by several people that work for Ford. But also my vehicle report was inaccurate. How can say. We know something is wrong. But we are going put a cap on how much time you get to getting it repaired. It was bad to begin with so I suffer for your mistakes? Needless to say I got nowhere.

That has been the biggest problem that I have been recently facing and kind of wished they would have stuck with manual windows. I would also make it where the back was bigger to put more stuff like groceries in the trunk.

In July 2014 I received a letter of a Recall on my vehicle regarding the Torque Sensor and Steering Column going out. I took it in to the Dealership where they did whatever they were suppose to do (I assume), though it only took them approx. 5 to 10 mins. At that time I was not having any issues with my vehicle. Speed up now to March 2016, I started having issues with my steering wheel vibrating and moving back and forth and my vehicle making odd noises. I took it in to the same dealership to be checked, they did a diagnostic test and told me my Torque Sensor/steering column were going out. I had them do the repairs. That evening after I okayd the repairs I found the Recall Letter which was in regards to the issue I was having now with my vehicle. I told Steve in the Service Dept and he called Ford Motors to see if my vehicle was covered for the Parts and Labor as the Recall letter stated, he was told No. I also called Ford Motors and was told No that the Recall had expired. In the Recall letter it states that Alternatively, the dealer may need to replace the torque sensor or the steering column. This service will be performed free of charge (parts and labor). I find Ford Motors to be very dishonest and they dont care about their customers safety. They obviously knew of the faulty parts in my vehicle, hence the Recall Letter I received. I did take it in to the dealership when I received that notice. Again at the time of the Recall my vehicle was fine, a little over a year and a half later I end up with the exact issue of that Recall. I feel Ford Motors Company should cover these charges and reimburse me. I have also emailed Ford Motors and received the same response No that the Recall has expired, and after the first 12,000 the warranty is no good. They should cover these parts.

I haven’t purchased a Ford in over 25 years. And after purchasing a new 2018 model, I will never buy a Ford again! Like many Americans in the late sixties and seventies I became disappointed by the shoddy workmanship of domestic manufacturers and made the switch to Japanese vehicles. I didn’t feel good about it, but the Japanese cars were cheap, ran well and parts were plentiful. Approximately three months ago along with President Trumps desire to get Americas back to work again, I took a second look at the 2018 Ford. I bought one, at around $41,000. Then on May 4th my driving world came to an end. I hit a rock and damaged the undercarriage causing me to need a wiring harness replacement. I had the vehicle towed to the nearest Ford dealership. When I inquired how long it would take to repair the vehicle I was informed the there were NO replacements in the parts division, or for that matter anywhere in the United States. No other dealers stocked even one, and the prospect for obtaining one was months away! I contacted Ford’s customer service department about two weeks ago. Three times I was brushed off with the ‘contact your dealer’ excuse, then finally one of your representatives hooked me up with a customer service agent that would be dedicated to resolving my dilemma. That was a joke. He called me one time but left no message or number. The second time he called he left his name and number. After that, I called him and left messages six times before finally reaching him. His attitude and condescending approach left little doubt of his non-concern. He offered no solutions and accused me of being the problem when he heard that I had damaged the undercarriage of my car. He mentioned that he did consult with his manager who stated that Ford has no program to address this lack of parts issue. He inferred that Ford wasn’t wrong for not stocking a replacement part, because if I hadn’t need a replacement then there wouldn’t be an issue! I would think that Ford would have a fiduciary responsibility to stock parts on new models. This morning my new Ford still sits in a service bay and because the windows were not closed due to no electrical connection and no tarp was put on the vehicle to protect it, the interior is now laden with soot and grit. The dealership employees were all very pleased and happy when I purchased my new Ford. But apparently that’s where it ends. Never again. Oh, by the way the assembly’s line on 2018 model that I purchased is still running, and new wiring harnesses like the one I need are still being pulled, but apparently these vehicles are for potential new customers, not for any current ones!

I am embarrassed to say that I have continued to purchase Ford products through the years even though they have proven to be poorly manufactured. Well I have finally learned my lesson. Never again will I purchase a Ford vehicle. Some examples, Explorer 30,000 miles cracked engine block, Excursion 52,000 miles transmission failure, Expedition tailgate paint bubbling off (they all do), Raptor 50,000 miles garage kept. A hole rusted through the bed (common).Fords response to all of these defects Drop Dead. If you wish to experience the absolute worst imaginable customer service call (800) 392-3673. I honestly felt as though they were mentally challenged so I escalated the case first to Matt ** never replied then Phill badge # ** big zero then Brian badge # ** bigger zero and finally the head supervisor Rose ** whom I would best describe her as robotic nit wit unable to respond beyond cookie cutter prepared answers. As a small business owner I purchase multiple vehicles annually as well as personal vehicles so over the course of the last 35 years I have purchased more than 100 new vehicles. The majority of which were Fords. In 2017 alone F350 $50,000.00, A Expedition EL $70,000 and most recently a Raptor $70,000.00. So I hope Mr. Ford reads this and terminates each and every one of the inept, indifferent individuals at Ford who misrepresent themselves as a customer service department.

2016 Ford Edge Titanium - this is my everyday commuter vehicle and I have to say that the overall driving experience, quality and features available at this price point is very disappointing. At ~ 40,000km I had the brake pads replaced and rotors machined which was surprising because I’m very easy on the brakes. At 45,000km my sunroof malfunctioned/wouldn’t close so it had to be replaced. The dealer broke my sunshade while replacing my sunroof so it had to be replaced. The icing on the cake was that the back window shattered for no reason (I literally mean no reason!) at 88,000km. I’ve owned several good/reliable Ford vehicles (08 Ford Escape Limited, 2013 Taurus SHO, and 2007 Ford F-150 FX4) and I can’t believe how much the quality has declined. This has been a very disappointing and regrettable purchase for me. There are lots of vehicles in this segment where you get more bang for your buck. Stay away from the Edge!

I’ve owned F150 trucks for the last 20 years. They are usually the leader in design of different component upgrades from year to year. This Mercury is a 2005 yet still in great shape. It is comfortable. It drives great. This car has automatic seat adjustments that have proved to be so convenient. It is the second Marquis that I have owned. It has a really smooth ride. Its great on long trips. The color blue is my favorite. It starts in all kinds of weather so it is reliable. This car gets good gas mileage for a full size car. It has automatic mirror adjustments. I like that it has an automatic gear shift. I like the way the brakes work. I like that you can see out of the car well. I also like the sound of the radio and speakers. It tells you the temperature inside and outside the car. It has plenty leg room and headroom. You dont hear a lot of outside noise. It is easy to handle. I would include a backup camera and a GPS though. Other than that it is a perfect car and I love it. I wouldnt care if it was a little be smaller but not much. I would like that indicator that tells you when you are too close to a car on the side. I would like side airbags too. I would like that feature that stops the car when you get too close in front. I would like that indicator that beeps when you back too close to anything. I would also like a seat warmer for the winter.

I am very upset to the point where I am in the midst of contacting the Better Business Bureau and posting a blog online regarding your company lack of integrity and manner of doing business. In November, my 2010 Ford Edge which is currently financed through your company caught on fire due to an ABS issue. I bought the vehicle as a used vehicle in 2013. I contacted my local dealership to report the problem. It took them 7 days before someone contacted me regarding a diagnosis of the problem. The car was towed but someone failed to address the issue. I was initially told it was my issue. Coincidentally, I went online and found out that that there was an issue and there was a recall at which point someone decided that they will look into the matter. The service department decided that they would begin repair on the vehicle. I was given a rental while the repair were to be done.First, the service repair advisor was incompetent as I had been calling everyday to get a status of the vehicle and each time I was told that they are working on it or the parts was not in. Your record would also reflect every time I made a phone call and spoke to someone, even calls made to your corporate headquarters. I was even assured that because of the situation everything would be handled. What I fail to understand that why it took almost 5 weeks for a part to come in. Its a Ford vehicle part, should be readily accessible. It is not an older model vehicle so what was the issue here? Here is where I am really pissed off with this whole situation. My mom went in today to get her vehicle oil changed. Note, hers is 2014 Edge as well. I relayed my concern to her and she decided to find out exactly what was going on. Ironically, what my mom was told that is the they can pick the car up today. How coincidental? She asked about the rental and was told that they were only covered for 10 days. Well, that is not acceptable or reasonable. We had no control on how long it would have taken to repair the vehicle. Why should we be penalized with a $1500.00 bill when nothing that occurred was within our control. Ford Motor Company was in total control of this situation from beginning to end and we are now receiving the ** end of this situation by being held hostage to pay a $1500.00 rental bill which I dont have especially this time of the year.Your local dealership was less than accommodating and did nothing within their power to expedite the repair of the vehicle. This was I believe the company did in order to recoup the cost of repairing the vehicle. They held on to the vehicle for as long as they could. The prolonged the process, which increased the cost of the rental, which was deceitful and as unprofessional. Your company is not a small mom and pop repair shop. You are a major company and should have pride and integrity in the way you do business. My mom has been a valued Ford customer for over 20 years. Every vehicle she has ever owned was a Ford vehicle. This has left us and her very dissatisfied with your company and your business practice. I still feels that we can come to some amicable agreement. As I said before, I am between a rock and a hard place as I have no other choice because I will need my vehicle especially since I am one vehicle home currently since I also I have another Ford vehicle that is also down because of needed repairs.I close with this statement - I am a very unhappy and dissatisfied customer. I am also not going to roll over and let this slide. Based on how this turns on it is my intent to take further action on this matter. I do intend to post pictures on the Internet of the vehicle. It may cost me $1500.00 but in the long run when I am done it will cost the company more based on reviews I will post online and providing feedback and reviews for this vehicle and your company as a whole. Looking forward to hearing from you. I would rate lower than a 1 star. Unfortunately it does not go lower than a 1.

The airbag exploded with such great force causing chest bruising, and lacerations, and little burns all over my arms and face. The bag started smoking and burning little holes in it, filling my lungs with smoke. I never received a recall for this. I believe someone may have tried to break in my 2015 Explorer. I never realized that my door handle was plastic. All it took was a screwdriver to break it. Fortunately they were scared away. Otherwise they could have pried the lock and got into my vehicle. This handle is used on 2011 - 2017 models, part number 78218A14. This piece of plastic cost $68.50 plus tax. It is poorly made. They wanted a fortune to install it so we are taking it to a body shop who will install it for $30. Be aware that they change prices on you from one day to the next. We were quoted $68.50 on Friday and then on Tuesday they wanted $75. Ford used to be my favorite car manufacturer, but is not anymore. This vehicle has a lousy paint job that Ford would not stand behind, issues with the battery, and seat belt problems.

Quality and customer service are they a dinosaur of the past? It seems so.
Quality and customer service are they a dinosaur of the past? It seems so. We purchased a 2009 Ford Diesel truck in May of 2010 with the expectation that this truck with a diesel engine would last upwards in the 200,000-300,000 mileage range with proper maintenance and care, which is one of the major selling points of a diesel engine. The truck was paid off and in September of 2015 just one month out of warranty this truck had to have both turbochargers replaced at Henry Day Ford for a little over $5,000.00. The mileage was at 90,651. Just under the engine break in period as is normally advertised. We asked the service advisor at that time, what more can we do to prevent these costly repairs. The answer was nothing can be done, except regular oil changes at proper intervals. In May of this year we had what we thought to be the exact same problem and returned it to Henry Day Ford to get it repaired. We were told that it would be over $21,000.00 to repair the truck as the engine was beyond repair, two cylinders had low compression. The original price on the truck was just under $35,000.00 and adding in the costly repair in September we are now at $40,000 for a truck with 100,499 miles on it, and it is not running. My first question; what has happened to quality in a product? I remember in the past one of Fords main advertising statement was Quality is job one. Apparently in Fords case, quality is not a job at all. Do we as providers or manufacturers expect to deliver less than the best quality to our customers and consumers? Are we OK with the terrible quality of products and goods that we produce and pass along to the consumer or customer? The fact that we as providers do not put our foot down and say no, we will not sell an inferior product because we have to stand behind it. When it fails, and it will, we look bad too.I know at Tingey Plumbing & Heating we make that choice all the time. There are products that we will not carry from certain manufacturers because of the quality. What would happen if more companies would take that stand? My second question; does customer service even exist anymore? My answer is simple when dealing with Henry Day Ford. Not only no, but absolutely, without question no. We received one phone call from the service advisor to tell us the engine was gone, and when dissatisfaction was expressed, it was implied that it happens frequently. I have made the balance of the phone calls to try to resolve this massive financial disaster to our company with the service manager and he has never attempted to call me back, or give me a realistic resolution to solve the problem. Their answer was bringing the bill down from $21,000.00 to $16,000.00.In the meantime we had placed a call to Ford Motor Company to lodge a complaint and were given a confirmation number and were told someone from Ford Motor Company would call us back. We waited and waited and waited. Meanwhile we have a truck that is not on the road and a technician that does not have his truck to work out of. After a week we called Ford Motor Company back to be told we needed to call the service manager at Henry Day Ford. We took the truck to a different dealer to get a second opinion. We took it to Ken Garff (next door to Henry Day Ford), who has a Ford trained master mechanic that looked at the problem. At first inspection they thought it was a different problem and quoted us $6,300.00 dollars to repair it and when I asked if it was in fact the engine would they still charge us, I was told yes. This is where the huge difference in customer service comes in.Their mechanic decided to use a borescope and look at the cylinders to make sure their diagnosis was correct and he found out the truck had indeed lost two cylinders. Ken Garff then quoted after several calls to us to try to resolve the problem $13,999.00 to replace the engine. Great customer service from Ken Garff. When I called the service manager at Henry Day Ford in an attempt to get help from Ford Motor Company or Henry Day Ford, I was told by the service manager they do not build the trucks so do not take it out on them. He told me that they were not making any money on the engine replacement and that the other dealer could not possibly replace the engine for that price. I asked him if he had even called Ford Motor Company to see if they would do anything and he said no. He expressed over and over again how it would not be fair to him for me to write any bad reviews as they do not build the vehicle.I asked him to call Ford Motor Company and he said he could call the territorial manager and said he would get back to me... he never did. Its been over a week. It appears to me the customer service that Henry Day Ford gives, is to itself, they are more concerned about customers being fair to them than taking care of a serious defect in a diesel truck that is 6 years old with 100,499 miles on it. Yes Henry Day Ford, I know that you do not build the truck but you represent the company and honestly, I have had more customer service in the airport security line in LA, although the wait is about the same, deathly slow or non-existent. Which brings me to the question again, is customer service extinct? I know that in a majority of companies it is, but there are some that still believe that customer service is a top priority. I know that it makes a difference in our customers because they tell us that it does. Why should they settle for mediocrity? Why should any of us? I know that I will never buy another Ford product again; I will never go to Henry Day Ford again. I will not give money to a company that demonstrates a severe lack of quality in addition to an incredible lack of customer service. Can we make a difference? Yes we can if enough people cry out. You either listen to them and respond or you ignore them and hope they go away before you do. Eventually they go away because customer service sets you apart from others who provide the same product.

I had been hit on the head which caused damage to my brain in which I havent been able to work. My wife is in kidney failure awaiting treatment for chemo and had been infusing to stay alive! We have always been good payers with Ford credit company, have always, when we made an arrangement to pay, did pay my Ford account. My wife called and was not authorized on my account and talked to Ford customer service department in regards to payment arrangements on my truck, acct **, for an F250 truck. Ford spoke to her and she had asked about it in the future, since I was sick with head injury, if we had to give back vehicle voluntarily in the future, if something happened, what are the steps. The customer service advised her not to do that and to try to find another person to buy the contract and get out of name. The customer service looked at the account and said that as long as $45 was made and a payment of $175 was made in 7 days, the account would be fine and the vehicle would be okay. And, Ford would work with us on the truck until health was better as we were good customers with Ford! After the conversation with Ford, my wife said that she had asked about repossession, they werent interested in doing that. After she heard what would happen, payment then was made on the truck for $399.15 and another for $175 and $200 through the automated system on the phone.Anytime I tried to pay my account over the phone, the contract number would come up as fusion and SSN would not match. Ford was told several times about the error, something was done in refinance, several payments were made, and 3 days later, at 1:40 am, my truck was repossessed from my yard, after my being in the hospital with severe brain injury. Ford had told me a week before the vehicle was fine as long as arrangement was followed through and the Ford truck would not be in default or repossessed in which there was no letter, no warning, nothing. They came, got the truck with payment arrangement done and agreed to by Ford Credit! Payments that were made werent credited correctly on the truck or the other acct **. Edge is ahead, not due till August 2012 with $100 due in July 2012.Being sick, I requested help with the truck since I havent been able to work and I could have borrowed money to catch up payment if I knew of them coming to get the truck! There was no letter, no warning! Yolanda, in customer service, is rude. She told my wife and me on the speaker phone after the truck had been repossessed that the reason was because my wife had asked about voluntary surrendering of the truck if something happened in the future but not at present time. Ford should have not even spoken to my wife about the account. I should have been contacted with this information. It was my account, not my wifes! The repossession company, the driver for Carolina Lending out of Myrtle Beach, SC picked the truck up 3 days after payment arrangement was made and payment posted on Saturday, the 12th. The truck was picked up on the 10th.The repossession driver lied and was rude to my wife and taunted me at the repossession lot, laughed and said the only reason this happened was because of my last name, **. The driver held a grudge for the ** family and threatened that he was coming for my Edge that was current. The system at Ford doesnt post for 3 days or more. That is not my fault. My Edge is not due till August 2012. The driver was rude and threatening me on the lot with vulgar language and rudeness! The police have a report! Ford had no right to speak to an unauthorized person on the account and also, after payment arrangement was made and agreed, and customer service told me a week before and my wife, that nothing would happen and they repossessed. This was wrong. Please help me. Now they want me to pay my truck in full, $18,000. Yolanda is a rude and nasty person at customer service and the supervisor Ms. ** wont call me back! Please help me!

For the past few months I have had my 2006 Ford F-150 with the 5.4 Triton V8 3 valve in and out of the shop trying to rectify a rough engine idle when stopping. First I was told that it had to do with a clogged fuel filter which was changed at a charge of $214.00 but I still had the same problem. Next, I was told that the air filter intake hose was clogged with leaves which was another charge of $180.00. Well, the rough idle persisted. So, at 88,000 miles I decided to let my mechanic do a tuneup which I was told would be around $450 thats if he didnt break any spark plugs.Well, day one I get a call and 3 spark plugs had broken off in the head. The next day I get a call and my mechanic was able to remove 2 of the broken off pieces but he couldnt get the third out. Day three I get a call and my mechanic explains to me that he tried to drill out the center of the stem and thread it so he could try and back it out. He got it to turn 4 times before it completely shredded and the piece fell into the #8 cylinder. So, he had to take off the head to get into the #8 cylinder to clean and remove all debris which he told me usually takes 21 hours. So, a week later I get a call from my mechanic to tell me that my truck is finally ready. Yep, it was ready all right at a cost of $3900... quite a shock considering this all started out at around $450. Of course, I was pretty mad and my mechanic did take $600 off of the bill. But, he has lost my business and the Better Business Bureau will get a complaint on behalf of this fiasco. Ford has known about this problem for quite awhile now and from what I have learned may have rectified the problem by replacing the spark plugs of later models with a one piece plug instead of a 2 piece plug that when affected by carbon build up seizes in the cylinder. Now, Ford states that the 5.4 Triton shouldnt have to have a tuneup until 100G miles. Yah, right!!! This is the second Ford product I have owned that has taken a good bit of my hard earned money. First was a failed transmission on a Mercury Villager that had only 62G on it. That fiasco cost me $2800. Now this total Charley Fox!!! Ford you have lost my business and will never get another dime out of me and yes I will be telling all of my friends to stay clear of Ford products.I currently own 2 Toyota vehicles. One a 2006 Toyota Camry that has 120G miles on it and the only thing I have done to that car in 5 years is replace tires and regular oil changes. The second is a 1989 Toyota extended cab 4x4 pickup truck that has 178G on it and I have had to replace the starter, the radiator, the power steering pump and the alternator, which I repaired all on my own at a minimal cost. The engine is still as strong as it was when I bought the truck in 1990. Now, if that doesnt speak quality and reliability then Im speechless. Guess who will be selling their F-150 and buying a Toyota Tundra. Ford get your act together!!! We are done!!

I just bought a 2016 Ford FX4 crew cab truck. I have been driving Ford vehicles all my life and thought I would never even consider another make. Well, that may change. This truck has been a big disappointment from day one. Following is my review... I switched from a 3.5 EcoBoost to a 2.7 EcoBoost in hopes that I would get better mileage. Not only is it worse than the 3.5, the economy readout on the dash is consistently 2.5-3.5 mpg less than the actual mileage. I have Checked every tank since I bought it. The Ford SYNC is a joke. The most user unfriendly system I have encountered. And I leave my iPod connected all the time and never touch it. The radio recognizes it about 50% of the time. I have changed power cords twice thinking there may be a short. But no change. If it was a short it would also affect it while playing. But when it plays it works perfectly. The driver side window does what it wants to sometimes. It may go down when you want it up. Or vice versa. The structural rigidity of this truck is nothing like my 2014. It jiggles and shakes like a 1981 Pontiac when on uneven pavement. The worst gas filler ever! Every time I lock the fuel nozzle on and wait for it to fill up, it clicks off the nozzle like its supposed to, but you better not be standing behind it! Almost every fill up dumps a quart of gas all over the ground. The driver door speaker is already buzzing and vibrating. The coating in the bed is useless. Its like a sheet of greasy ice. Everything slides all over the bed, so I have to lock it down. I have yet to figure out how the trailer back up assist works. For the amount of money this truck costs, Ford really screwed up on this one. I will be looking elsewhere soon. Id like to have my 2014 back.

I purchased my car brand new in 2011. I was excited, it was my first new car and I spent a lot of time researching cars. Within a few months I noticed that the car began to shake and vibrate and shudder real bad, especially in lower gears. It got worse and worse so I brought it in. Ford fixed it. It was fine for a few months then it began again. This time it was worse, even stalling out when crossing intersections when my kids were in the car. This frightened me and I reported it. They found nothing wrong with it. It was still doing it so I brought it back in and demanded someone drive it until they felt it and fixed it. On two other occasions it has been brought in and fixed. The letter Ford sent out stating that this is normal is bogus because it doesnt always do it especially right after a fix. The car is shaking and shuddering again. I also noticed that when I stop at lights or in my not so steep driveway the car rolls back significantly. Extending the warranty does not make the car safe. Now I have a recall notice that says the doors can break open while I am driving and the part to fix it is not available but I will be notified when it is. This car needs to be taken off the road!

I was called and then sent a letter to pay a settlement amount of $1,403.76 on the phone and in the letter, I explained to the lady (877-231-8641 ext. **) I would have the money in a couple of weeks because my husband had just passed away. She stated this could not wait so I put off paying other bills to send the money on Sept. 19th. Well, on Sunday, Sept. 30th, they came and repossessed the vehicle, in which Ford is not open on Sundays. So, I called the lady back on Monday, Oct. 1st and asked why the vehicle was repossessed. She stated the payment had not posted. I explained that I had sent it in. She was the rudest and most hateful person I have ever spoken to at Ford. I asked her if I could talk to a supervisor and she said no. I told her I had sent the money and wanted my vehicle returned to me and she said too bad the only way was to pay Ford an additional $350.94 plus the repo fee. She would not even tell me exactly where the vehicle was. She stated it was none of my business and I did not have the right to know where my vehicle was taken. I do know the vehicle was taken to North Carolina and I live in South Carolina which is about 100 miles from me. The letter also states failure to remit the settlement amount or contact Ford may result in further collection activity, nothing about repossession which I think according to South Carolina Law, the consumer must be notified of repossession and the consumer has 20 days to pay the debt. I was not even given that courtesy. My husband worked for Ford for over 10 years and we have purchased over 15 vehicles over the years. As far as I am concerned, I will never buy another Ford as long as I live!

Our key was locked inside the car. I called them at 9:30 pm on 7/6/2018. They set up C&J towing in Madison, GA(50 miles away) to come unlock our vehicle and they would be there in 90 minutes. Two hours later I was told they would be there in 15 minutes. They never showed up and would not answer my calls. It was 4:00am before they called someone else to come out. Which would be 45 minutes before they would get there. Which they did show up and unlocked the door. We were traveling home from our vacation and had been on the road since 9:00am that morning. I really don’t understand why they called someone so far away to start with. VERY DISAPPOINTED in this service.

I have a 2004 Mercury Mountaineer (same as Ford Explorer and now serviced by Ford). Vehicle has always been well maintained, garaged, and has low mileage of 68,000, but unfortunately Ive been the victim of 3 (so far) well known design flaws that were not covered because I was out of warranty. Each of these has carried a substantial price tag to correct. The first was the fan motor under the dash for heat. It made a loud clanking noise and there was no heat. I was told this was a common problem and the dash had to be pulled and the fan and motor replaced. The next issued appeared shortly after. The back panel just under the back windshield developed a vertical crack - top to bottom close to the center. Dealer told me it was a design flaw and pushing the panel to close in a spot other than center causes this area to flex and crack. Again, well known problem but not covered. (I have since noticed at least 50% of Explorers & Mountaineers I see on the road with a crack that are of this era). Most recently, I have developed rust behind the rear passenger wheel well. I have consulted 2 body shops and they both told me common problem with these models - usually just on one side. Design problem. This is a very expensive problem to fix, especially for a 10 year old vehicle. If not for these apparent common problems, Ive been pretty pleased with my vehicle, but I am very frustrated with Ford that they wont stand behind and repair these things. At 68,000 miles, I would like to continue driving this SUV, but Im afraid what could be next. Ive always bought Ford products, but their unwillingness to stand behind their product concerns me.

When I leased my 18 Escape I immediately noticed the variable transmission was shifting strangely. It is one of the new versions that pause when you are stopped at a light. However it was banging into gear at times. I brought it in, they did some work on it, and when I left the problem was still there. I went back to the dealership the next day, drove with the service advisor (very nice guy), and was told that is actually the way it should be working. At that point accepted my poor purchase and moved on. Fast forward 6 months later the car is now lurching forward as it shifts into gears at sporadic times. Totally unsafe, not sure what to do. Does anyone else have this issue?

I like the sound system in the Mercury. Trunk is extremely roomy as well as the overall space and its a pleasure to drive when its not broke down. Love that the seats recline all the way back and the back seats fold in for added cargo space for the trunk. But Im not really pleased with this car like I would have hoped to be. It has been unreliable on several occasions and its giving me more headaches than pleasure breaking down on me. Also the console is way smaller than I expected and I wanted a deeper glove box. The drink holders arent adjustable for bigger cups which is very aggravating. I also wanted the car to come with 5 star rally wheels instead of standard spare tire. I wish that the overall length was a little bit bigger and the access to certain areas under the hood was better aligned for easier working space and the doors and windows access for the back seats are made ridiculous.

Purchased a 2018 Mustang GT. 6 speed, manual. I noticed transmission failure about 6,000 to 7000 miles. Took it to two different Ford dealers because the first Ford dealer tried to charge me. The second Ford dealer did the work and did it under warranty but advised me but if it happened again it would be coming out of my pocket regardless of my warranties. Very nice car but warning you will be spending more money on it even though you have a warranty and it is a brand new car. Good luck.

Purchased a 2011 Ford Fiesta SE. After the purchase, I had problems with the transmission. Further research turned up that Ford is well aware of this problem and extended a warranty for 7 years or 100,000 miles to replace the transmission. I purchased the car just AFTER the 7 year mark. Ford has been unwilling to repair this well known problem. How as a company, when you know you have put out a faulty product do you not stand behind it and repair it? This is in excess of $3,000 to repair myself. Additionally, Ford customer service and consumer affairs were rude and not at all helpful. When I called them they told me since it was beyond the 7 years they would not help. I asked for a supervisor and they told me no, that the supervisor was just going to tell me the same thing anyways. I then filed a complaint with the BBB. When Ford called to respond to that, they called from a blocked number and left a quick message, basically saying that they did extend the warranty and its basically my fault I didnt repair it in that time (even though I didnt have the car at that time). They were very rude and left no way for me to call them back to actually speak to them. Horrible car and horrible company! STAY AWAY FROM FORD!!!

The transmission on my daughters 2008 Ford Fusion AWD was diagnosed as bad
The transmission on my daughters 2008 Ford Fusion AWD was diagnosed as bad with 85k on it which required a new one (the internal part was not serviceable) to be installed at a cost approx $5k (she was away at college and all contact with the service dept was via phone). The PTU (the mechanism that transfers the power to the back wheels) was removed from the bad trans and installed on the new one, but the dealership failed to replace $20 worth of seals that Fords service manual requires done when any time the PTU is removed. Now a leak from these internal seals has appeared. To repair the leak, almost the entire front right of the transaxle must be removed which accounts for 90% of the cost due to the 6 hours labor. If the job was done right, when the trans was out of the car, and the PTU was on the bench, labor would have been nearly nothing (I would have paid the nominal amount if asked). The dealership will do nothing saying It didnt leak before and most troubling the Ford Customer Service Dept will not do anything either saying its a dealership workmanship problem and they have no ability to force them to do anything they dont want to do although its their blue oval outside. Thanks for listening, where do I go next (If any)?

Fiesta ST - I felt intermittent squeaking and occasional friction in mine and deeply regret not taking it to the dealer the moment I noticed it. Obviously something was defective from the start and now Im bumming rides from friends to work and borrowing my exs car to get my kids to and from their summer camps. To make matters worse, the cars been dead in the none-too-helpful dealers repair shop for three weeks. Pretty frightening episode, too, since the car stopped dead on Lake Shore Drive in Chicago with heavy 60 MPH traffic and no shoulder.Called 911 who dispatched a tow truck but it was a tense fifteen minutes of desperately waving unsuspecting drivers around my dead Ford. Its a nice car: good performance and practical, but if the manufacturer doesnt back what they sell better to buy from a more reliable brand like Honda, Toyota, Mazda, or Subaru who have all served me well in the past. Ill avoid Ford in the future in favor of automakers that provide real warranties and better reliability.

I was driving home from Wal-Mart, which is about a 20 minute drive. I am not sure what happened, as I must have blacked out, or blocked it out, but I woke up flipping over and over, and found out it was in a field. Witnesses claimed the car flipped 12 times, before landing on the roof of the car. All the windows, besides one I believe, were knocked out, and there werent airbags. I have an artificial hip, due to another wreck, where I was a passenger. I was trying to get the seat belt off, as I was scared something else would happen if I didnt get out, but it was stuck. Finally, a gentleman showed up. He had to crawl down under me, to cut the belt, and get me out, without causing more problems. The first thing I heard the policeman say was the bags did not go off, then I heard the same thing next day, when I went to pick up whatever was left. A prescription was lost or stolen. We looked everywhere, and my Tom Tom, which was in the glove box was gone. I went by ambulance to the hospital. They took an x-ray of my chest and neck, and did some CT scans to check my back. As of now, I have bruises and abrasions, but I can barely walk without crutches. The same side of my hip was replaced in 1994. My back has a large bruise, and it hurts real bad to move, cough, etc. I did not have comp or collision, as I was told, when a car is over 20 years old, they dont need it.The car is completely totaled. The roof was crushed like a v right down the middle. The medic said if my head or the v had been an inch or so closer, I would not be here. If there are this many complaints, why hasnt Ford done something about it? I was shocked. I was supposed to be on federal jury tomorrow. I had to call and cancel that. Currently, all I can do is lay in bed or on the couch, with heating pads and pain medications. I may have to call my orthopedic doctor, if I dont get any better. But my husband has been out of work taking care of me. He went back today, and the my doctor is in Charleston, about 2 hours and some minutes from where we are. He cant afford to take off constantly.

I bought my 2014 Ford Fiesta Sedan (manual) in late 2013/early 2014 from Sun State Ford in Orlando FL. The car was BRAND NEW. Literally, I drove it off the lot with 7 miles on it. Fast forward to August 2016 and my transmission no longer goes into 3rd gear. I call Sun State Ford and leave a message, wait 2 days... no call back, I call again, no call back, call again next week, no call back. This process continues on for another 2-3 weeks until I finally got back from my travels abroad and decide to call them and act like a new customer. This time I do get a call back and they are more than happy to sell me a new car with their wonderful 15 year 150k mile warranty. After I get all the info I need and confirmation that drivetrain will be covered for 15 years and 150k miles, I change up the story and tell them about the car I bought and how the Finance Manager thats in charge of warranty claims like mine will not speak to me or return my calls.Fast forward 10 minutes of back and fort Q&A from Sun State Ford customer service rep and she tells me Im going to walk to the other side of our campus and have the manager call you directly, please allow me no more than 5 minutes. I oblige and thank her for her wonderful customer service and help, considering shes been the only one to ease my headache of 3 weeks now, almost a month. 5 minutes go by, 10 minutes go by, 15 mins go by, 30 mins go by. I call back, no answer. I call the customer service department... NO ANSWER! Are you ** kidding me???Now, I will be driving 1000 miles in my ** Sun State Ford in Orlando, FL from Baltimore, MD just to raise hell. At the same time I have paid my lawyer $400 to start working on my case. Good luck Ford and Sun State Ford in Orlando FL. Have fun fixing my car and paying me for it. 1/10 Service. This “car” (Ford Escape 2014) is the perfect example of why I’ll never own another Ford for as long as I can still drive. Major recalls (this one’s the special one that had engine overheating issues that would cause it to essentially meltdown). I had that issue 2 days after pulling off the lot, brand new. Most expensive thing I own outside of a home. It took 3 wks for that issue, and 2 days after, had a failure of the Sync system (that still never works as it should). At that time, I offered to spend more $ to upgrade to the model w/out the issues, and was told Ford can’t do that nor could they work with the dealer. All told, this car has had something on the order of 15 recalls. I paid for the extended warranty, and at 1000 miles over the 50K, the turbo and coolant system failed (related to early overheating issues) locking the entire car up. Called for roadside, was notified that my warranty was expired, no roadside, no warranty. Spent hours (literally 10+ over 4 days) begging for some sort of help. Ultimately, just told the dealer to proceed w/ the repair, planning to continue revisiting W/ Ford for some sort of help. Dealer called to say there were no parts in stock, and best case was 3 months!! That’s no joke! And no offer of help with a rental. Customer service means doing the right thing for the customer, and that doesn’t mean making that customer beg for assistance. Ultimately, after spending all the time, they covered it. Fast forward to today - at 56K, the transmission just popped up alerting me that it has failed and should be serviced immediately. So, I’m back on the phone w/ Ford and fully expecting pushback. Never ever again.

I have a 2012 Ford Focus. About three or so months ago I got a letter in the mail about a known issue with the trans control module. Ive been saying for about a year now that my transmission has had issues. All service people kept telling me my car is fine. So I get this letter and make an appointment. Ok easy enough. I drop my car off and get a call back saying that is the issue and a part was ordered. They set me up with a rental then the hell began. Midweek still no part. Week later still no part. Two weeks then three. The dealership had my car over a month!!! Still no part. I get a number for Ford customer relations and give them a call after being told I would speak to a supervisor I get a voicemail for one Jeffrey **.Hoping for answers on whats going on. He calls me the following Monday even though I didnt leave a message initially because I was so mad I was lied to and he ended up leaving a message on my cell. I call him back THREE times and leave THREE messages and does this guy call me back?!! NO HE DOESNT. Needless to say his lack of responsibility as a supervisor was the last straw. I ended up I king up my car. Now over two months later the part is finally in. The big kicker. Ford REFUSES to get me a rental for that fix. So now Im stuck finding a way to and from work on a Monday. I will never ever work with Ford again. As soon as I can get out of this car Im gone and Ive already told as many people that will listen to stay away from Ford. The WORST customer service I have ever had to deal with.
